thinking, or an expression of something you're afraid may happen. One helpful hint for distinguishing the source is that, generally, intuitive impressions come through to you in a very kind, loving, and helpful mannersomething your self talk often doesn't do. |

I once experienced this form of intuition while giving a reading to a young woman we'll call Cathy. We had been discussing her difficult relationships with men, which had been quite emotionally painful to her. Cathy feared that she would always make bad choices where men were concerned, and felt quite hopeless about this. |

As I tried to gain some insight on this issue, I heard a very insistent voice in my head saying ''Read her the quote! Read her the quote!" As I heard this voice, I also saw an image of a page of inspirational quotes I keep in my file cabinet. Because the quotes didn't really have anything to do with the reading (or so I thought), I was a little confused. However, the impression was so insistent that after apologizing to Cathy for the odd interruption, I did what my intuition suggested. Feeling drawn to the third quote on the page, I read it to Cathy along with the author's name. |

When I looked up, Cathy was crying. Since the piece wasn't particularly moving, I was surprised at her response. After a moment, Cathy told me, "The man who wrote that . . . I lived with him for 8 years." She went on to explain that their relationship hadn't been all bad, and that relationships could have positive aspects after all. Although she didn't go off in search of this long lost love, Cathy renewed her sense that relationships didn't have to be hopeless and decided to take a more optimistic look at future possibilities. |

Those psychics who receive information in this auditory way claim that they have a particular "psychic ear," meaning that either the left or right ear is the dominant one for receiving their psychic auditory impressions. Clearly, they are hearing a sound, rather than sensing a thought, as we discuss next. |

Clairsentience: Your Inner Sensing |

Clairsentience is commonly considered "clear thinking" or "clear knowing." Webster's defines it as the "ability to perceive things out of the range of ordinary perception." This is the type of information that makes us say, "I know but I don't know how I know." It may come to you as an "aha" moment or as new information that makes such perfect sense that you feel like you've always known it (and you probably have). |
