Although clairsentience does not fit the mold in that it isn't directly related to one of the other five senses, it is the most common way that people receive psychic information. That is, most people have received information in this way, whether they knew it or not. They may have described it simply as intuition, not connecting it with the psychic aspect at all. |

As mentioned earlier in the chapter, this clear knowing is my predominant mode of receiving information. For instance, one of my clients recently had some trouble with his boss and needed advice about how to work with her more effectively. To help focus on the person in question, I asked her first name. |

I closed my eyes and said the woman's name to myself, then immediately sensed someone very angry and controlling. I also received a symbolic, visual impression of this woman coming toward me an axthe term ''battle ax" immediately leapt to mind! When I related all this to my client, he started laughing. The boss was apparently known in the office, not so affectionately, as the Battle Ax Boss. I then went on to describe some effective strategies for dealing with her. |

Although there isn't an official word for clear touching, the kinesthetic or physical mode of receiving information definitely exists. It doesn't refer to an external physical touch, as much as your own internal physical responses when sensing information. For example, if your stomach is in knots after you make a decision, you're probably receiving intuitive information through your body that your decision was wrong. In fact, this experience is probably where the expression "following your gut instinct" comes from. Sometimes, feelings come from touching an object and, by doing so, tapping into its past, a technique called psychometry, which we'll discuss in more detail in Chapter 7. |
