will happen. It goes something like this: The earth will undergo drastic changes in its weather patterns due to upsets in various geophysical phenomena. These changing weather patterns will diminish the world's food supply, which will be accompanied by epidemics and famine. The world will undergo an economic collapse and possibly a nuclear war or accident. And then the lucky survivors will get to pick up the pieces and start a brand new beautiful world of peace and cooperation. Sounds pretty wonderful, huh?
Not really? Well, it's certainly sensational. Which is why the media loves to talk about it. If newscasters were in the business of making everybody feel good, they'd probably be out of business. Similarly, prophets tend to be quoted and ''kept around" because their messages offer warnings that are scary enough to catch your attention. Interestingly, many prophets from various cultures and locationsmany of whom had no way of accessing each other's worksomehow came up with some of the same foresights. Let's look at a few.

Some of the most overlooked forward thinkers were the Mayan scholars. Their civilization produced astounding buildings and amazingly accurate calendar systems based on astrology. Their yearly calendar consisted of 365.24 days, which they believed was part of a greater cycle of 5,124.4 years. The current cycle is fated to end on December 21, 2012, when disasters of all sorts will increase. At that time, a new type of reality will transform life on Earth.
Other ancient prophets weren't quite so specific about forecasting their dates. In fact, none of the Biblical writers specifically refer to the year 2000. John, in The Book of Revelation, predicted "signs and wonders in the heavens" that can be interpreted as the changes in weather patterns and possibly other cosmic events that may occur. But more specific types of information predicting the future depend on the interpreter.
Many Christians today site certain events as pointing to the last days, including the formation of the nation of Israel. Some literal types associate the Biblical 10-horned
