Prophets from seemingly every culture have predicted an increase in the earth's changes leading up to and following the year 2000. The classics include earthquakes, volcanic activity, and just generally massive geophysical changes. |

Other favorites, although not quite as frequent, include the earth shifting on its axis, chunks of continents dropping into the ocean, and icebergs drifting lose. Sounds like a global version of Titanic, just waiting to happen. |

It also sounds like recent newspaper headlines. Some of these events certainly seem to be taking place. Global warming has caused icebergs the size of Rhode Island to break off from the Antarctic and set sail. A shortage of rain in some areas is causing severe drought, while an abundance elsewhere leads to flooding. Tornadoes are popping up just about everywhere, and hurricanes are more frequent than ever before. |
