If you do sense that you have experienced precognition and have a little information about the event, try to follow up later. This will help you get a sense of whether your precognition was presentiment or foresight into an actual event. |

A very specific aspect of precognition that refers to foreshadowing of future events is second sight. It suggests that you see actual future events through visions. People who have this ability are called seers. Second sight may also refer to remote viewing, which generally pertains to seeing places in their present state. We discussed this in Chapter 4 and will discuss it again in Chapter 22. |

Another way that you may receive visual information about future events is through precognitive dreams. Of course, not all dreams foretell future events, but those that do are usually clear and easily recalled. Have you ever had an experience that seems familiar, but you don't know why? This may actually be a less clear recollection of a precognitive dream. |

You're all familiar with dreams, but how do you know when you're seeing into the future within these reveries? For that matter, you can ask the same question for visual images, sensed phrases, or strong feelings: How do you know if they actually reveal present or future events or if they are merely unexplainable episodes? Well, the obvious answer is: Wait and see. But along the way, you can learn a lot by paying close attention. (Keeping good notes in your psychic journal helps too.) |

Stick with predictions of events that take place in the near, rather than distant, future. In other words, try predicting events that take place tomorrow or next week rather than those five years down the line. We'll give you some tips on how to do just that in the exercises that follow later in the chapter. |
