Therapeutic touch, like all hands-on healing methods, places an emphasis on love, compassion, and sharing of energy. With these healing methods, the emotional, mental, and spiritual interaction between practitioner and patient is important. The relationship must be personal, and yet the practitioner needs to remain somewhat detachedsimilar to the way intuitive counselors relate to their clients. Underlying all is a strong sense of caring, compassion, and love. |

Helping to heal the world around you may actually be simpler than you think. Begin by paying attention to where help is needed. Once you start to really look at the people and things around you with an open mind, you'll be able to see the problems people around you are experiencing. You might notice a man walking with his shoulders slumped, as if he's carrying a heavy burden. He probably is. Someone whose face looks tired, tight, and stressed is probably thinking about something that concerns her greatlyphysical pain, or grief, or hurt feelings. |

When you start to really see what's going on in the world around you, don't be afraid to acknowledge and feel it. Accept that you have a giftthe gift of intuitive understanding. Many call it empathy, and what you do with this gift may be called compassion. It is not always necessary to run right in, shouting and waving a flag that screams, ''I care." Indeed, overt expressions are rarely appropriate. Rather, take a deep breath and ask for guidance. |
