Another relatively new hands-on healing technique is therapeutic touch. It shares many of the same concepts of energy as other hands-on healing modalities, including the idea that healing comes from a universal life energy that flows through all living organisms and creates an energy field around their bodies. It is unique in its simple use of laying on of hands.
Dora Kunz, who developed therapeutic touch and brought it to the United States, believed the approach is based on the ancient practice of laying on of hands. She trained Delores Krieger, Ph.D., R.N., who then researched and documented scientific evidence that the technique is an effective form of healing. Krieger then trained thousands of nurses and other health care professionals, which has since brought the technique the respect of the traditional medical world.
