To begin to see auras, you can first train your eyes to see under ideal circumstances. For example, many people find it easiest to learn when the person whose aura they're trying to see stands against a blank, white wall. Also, auras are most vivid around the head, so that's the best place to look for a person's aura. Later, you may eventually gain the ability to see the aura around the entire body. You'll want to practice simple techniques such as these first, and then apply what you've learned in order to see auras around people. Here's an exercise to get you started. |

1. Get into a relaxed position in a dark room. Leave the lights out, but don't worry about a little light coming in through the blinds or under the door. |

2. Hold your palms up about eight inches in front of your face. Hold them facing each other, about one to five inches apart. Look at the wall behind your hands; avoid focusing directly on your hands. Move your hands in toward each other and back out (as though clapping), increasing the space, and then decreasing the space. Do you notice an energy building up between your hands? You may see a light or feel a pulsing or tingling sensation. This is your auric or energy field. |

3. Now outstretch one arm at chest level and turn your palm up as though carrying a tray. Place the opposite hand about 10 inches above your forearm, with your palm facing down. Slowly move your hand closer to your arm. Pay attention to the feeling or sensation in your hand. Does it change as you get closer to your arm? |

Once you're seeing your aura, you'll realize that it is made up of various colors. Most people emit certain colors that predominate in their auras, and yet these colors can change with their moods. For example, a person with a happy disposition may tend to have a bright yellow aura, but it could momentarily change to red if the person becomes angry. Someone else might have a red aura, suggesting that the person is often angry. If someone's aura has dark spots in a specific area, it may show that the person has an illness in that area. |

Within the bodies are seven major energy centers that correspond to the chakras. Each energy center is said to be like a wheel of vibrating, spinning energy. Auras penetrate and radiate from these energies. Expert energy healers, such as Barbara Brennan, perceive the aura as |
