Deepak Chopra, himself, is an interesting symbol of the coming together of the Eastern and Western cultures. His upbringing in the East has given him great insight into the ancient teachings and in-depth beliefs of the Indian gurus. In particular, his background involves the study of the highly spiritual form of medicine called ayurvedic medicine. His familiarity with Western medicine and culture enables him to translate the abstract Eastern ideas into everyday Western ways of thinking about things. In essence, he is not saying a lot that's newexcept to Westerners, who are eager to hear it. So . . . what is this message about body-mind connections anyway? |
