The ancient gurus of the Eastern world knew several millennia ago what Westerners have just begun to learn in the past few decades: The body is intricately connected to the mind, emotions, and spirit. This connection seems fairly obvious to most of us, as it did to the ancient gurus who acknowledged it without question. But doubt remains here because most ''scientific" Americans are waiting for that most Western of traditions: proof. |

Everybody now accepts the idea that stress can lead to illness, while exercise and eating right improves health. Why? Because numerous studies have proven this to be true, which led doctors and other traditional healthcare providers to finally put forth these ideas. Meanwhile, alternative health researchers continue to make inroads into "new" connections between body, mind, and spirit. Within a few years, some of these "radical" ideas are likely to be accepted as conventional wisdomand will then be promoted by the medical establishment too. In this chapter, we'll take a look at how the mind and body interact, and where the psychic side comes in. |
