Many intuitive people believe that each person that we come in contact with is there to teach us something specific. For example, a child is teaching her parent patience, while the parent is teaching her child discipline. Even an angry boss can teach us something, whether it's the importance of being on time or the necessity of ignoring displaced anger because it doesn't belong to us. But if you're not quite sure what to think of someone, try the decision-making exercise described in the next section.
In Decision-Making
Many of us panic when faced with making a significant decisionand sometimes even a small onein our lives. Often we can't seem to find a clear ''yes" or "no" answer. We write endless lists of pros and cons. We discuss it with our friends and families. We often scurry about trying to gather as many facts about the situation as we can . . . and then we end up feeling even more confused than when we started.
Following is a process you can follow to take advantage of the intuitive input your psyche can give you when making important decisions. Intuition is not meant to replace logic and rationality. Rather, intuitive input simply adds informationabout yourself, as well as the world around youto your decision-making process.

1. The Preparation Phase. In this phase, you research your problem. For starters, write about the decision you are trying to make. Gather as much data as you can about the issue. Declare a firm intent to make your decision. Learn as much as you can about yourself and your response to the issue. This lays the groundwork for the intuitive information to come through. Frame the decision in the form of a question, "Should I take this job with XYZ Company?"

Here's an example from my experience:

Before I started my psychic reading business I was an operations manager of a software company. I was giving readings for friends a few hours a month. A writer for the Boston Globe newspaper heard about my readings and asked if she could book a session with me. Several months later she wrote about her experience. Her article produced such a response for my services that my phone was ringing off the hook and I had to hire a secretary.

My questions for my intuition were:

Should I stay in my job and forget the readings?

Should I leave my job to start a psychic reading business?

Should I attempt to do my job and the readings?

I did as much research as I could during this phase. I found out about renting an office, setting up a business, getting insurance, and finding secretarial help. I spoke with other psychics in the area. I also spoke with my boss about my job, the future of the company, and how he saw my role in it. I gathered data.
