Common Experiments to Test Psychic Ability
Over the years, researchers have focused on certain experiments to help them detect and prove psi. They continually revise the experiments in an effort to weed out any possibility of getting false or biased results. We'll describe three main types of experiments here:

Random number generator (RNG) experiments
One of the better known techniques used to research psychic ability in individuals is the ganzfeld experiment. During these experiments, the subject is placed in an environment without sound, light, or other sensory input. You often see pictures of people being prepared for ganzfeld sessions: Their eyes are covered with half-spheres, that look like (and sometimes are) Ping-Pong balls. They wear microphones that enable them to constantly describe their impressions to the tester, although they are not given any feedback.
Once all external distractions are eliminated (as much as possible), the subject is sent information through psychic means. Usually another person telepathically sends the subject a picture of an image, while the subject continues to describe any images or feelings he picks up. By describing the image he is receiving, the subject enables the sender to improve her technique of sending information. Once the sending part of the session is over, the subject is shown four images, including what the sender was looking at and sending. The subject chooses the image closest to what he saw in his mind. Success is measured on whether the subject chooses the correct image.
