periodand nothing ever changed! She was in the same job she hated, the same relationship that wasn't going anywhere, and in the same stand-off in a legal dispute. Each time I talked about her options, I told her that most of us are afraid of change and risk. Yes, it feels uncomfortable and scary, but this woman needed to do something or her situation would likely remain the same. (This isn't necessarily the rosy picture you want to hear when you go to a psychic!) I gave her intuitive information about the various relationships in her life, and even referred her to several professionals who could assist her with her concerns and support her through the changes she wanted to make. After the fifth year, I finally told the woman, in a nice way, that she should probably save her money and just listen to the tapes of the previous sessions!

But that's the bad news. The good news is that you can have a terrific and helpful session with a psychic as long as you come prepared and bring your open mind along with you. Here are some tips that might help you:

Evaluate your expectations. Before you visit an intuitive, decide what you'd like to get out of the reading. Do you want information about relationships, past lives, health issues, career direction, life purpose or life lessons, or spiritual guidance?

Write it down. The act of writing down the issues or questions that concern you will help both you and the intuitive you visit.

Prioritize. Many psychics will start with an overview of what they feel or sense about you, including giving you information about your present life, general lessons you are here to learn, future trends, or mental patterns that you play out. After that, you'll want to ask your most important and pressing questions first.

Go light on the details. When you ask the psychic your questions, give just enough background to clarify your concerns. Too much detail will overwhelm the psychic with your own take on the issue. At the same time, give them enough detail so that you won't have to spend much of your session listening to data you already know.
What I've learned from my years of experience is that I can't fix everyone. People often come to me with very complicated situations, family histories, and psychological dynamics. Some clients have an unrealistic expectation that my words and insight will solve all their issues and dilemmas for them. I know that in the space of the half-hour to hour that I spend with someone, I may be able only to shed some light on the direction out of the pain they are in.
