situation. This is not the case with all psychics: Some are awash with psychic impressions as soon as they enter a rooman exhausting way to live, I think! |

In fact, when I first started my practice, I found it much more difficult to maintain my emotional boundaries than I do now. That's partly because of the way information comes to me: I'm more of an empath (like the intuitives in the TV series Star Trek). I pick up information with my emotions and feelings. If someone came to me for insight into a difficult divorce, a job loss, or the death of a loved one, I experienced their pain, anxiety, and grief. By the end of the day, I felt like a limp dishrag! Even now, it's sometimes a challenge to balance my empathy with my objectivity about a person and the situation I'm reading. |

Over time, though, I've learned to use what I call compassionate detachment. I still feel my clients' emotions and have compassion for them, but I don't completely take all of those powerful feelings into my soul. My mission really is to help my clientsand myselfto learn and grow from their experiences, as tough as those experiences may be. |

I used to drive myself crazy thinking I should be equally good at finding lost animals, diagnosing illnesses (medical intuition), or tuning into the spirit world to hear from the dearly departed. With time, though, I came to understand that each psychic has an area of specialty, or ways of receiving information that are stronger than other ways. |
