After focusing for a few minutes, I talked to her about the employment problems she'd had in the past, as well as her general aptitude. I'd been speaking for only about five minutes when I realized that my client was actually tapping her footand with impatience! When I asked her if there was something else she'd rather I tune in to, she admitted that she didn't want to waste her half-hour on this kind of information. She just wanted the name and phone number of the next company she would work for so she could just go get the job and start work tomorrow!
To have this amount of faith in my intuitive powers was admirable, but far from realistic. (And what kind of impression would she make if she showed up at the corporate offices saying, ''My psychic sent me!"?) Intuitives offer information that can guide you, but they exert no special control over your life or your future. They can help you to think and explore, but they can't make decisions for you. And would you really want them to?
Are Psychics Mind Readers?
The most common assumption people make is that intuitives can read minds. When I tell people that I'm a psychic, they often ask what I'm "getting" about them or offer me their palms. It often gets so uncomfortable, in fact, that I sometimes don't tell people what I do at all, but instead make a vague reference to working in counseling or educationthe same sort of thing physicians might do to prevent folks from asking them to diagnose their symptoms at a party.

The thing is, it doesn't work that wayat least not for me. I'm not on all the time, and neither are my intuitive abilities. To give someone a reading, I must really concentrate on that person and that person alone. I then need to read and interpret the images that come to me, the emotions I feel, and the words I hear about the person or
