You can practice your newfound art by performing quick aura readings of people when you first meet them. After you get to know them better, check whether your first interpretations were correct. You'll learn that each person's aura has varying shades of color. If someone has a dull or dark aura, that person is likely to be depressed and negative. Conversely, if you see someone with a bright, shining, and glowing aura, you can assume that person is generally positive and upbeat. Try it for yourself! The following exercise will get you started.

Basic Aura Reading Exercise

1. Find a partner and have him (or her) sit across from you against a white or light-colored wall. Placing a low-watt bulb behind your friend helps.

2. Observe your partner with half-focused eyes, which means try to avoid staring directly at him. Instead, direct your eyes more at the wall behind him. Focus your attention around the edges of your partner's body, in his energy field.

3. Ask your friend to move slightly. Do you see the colors move with him?

4. Pay attention to any colors that you see. Several colors will appear in different areas of the body.

5. Report to your friend what colors you see.

6. Interpret what you see by using the earlier table. Are your observations making sense to your partner, based on what he knows about himself?
If at first you don't succeed, don't give up. Remember that, like any skill, aura reading may take time to develop. You also might want to wait for a better time to try this: Some energy healers perceive the energy field only when entering a meditative state. Maybe this technique will work best for you too. Just don't be afraid to try out whatever may work for you. And if you see something that confuses you, contact an energy healer, who can advise you on how to improve your technique or whether to seek help from a certified healer.
Drawing Auras
Once you've tapped into your auric sight and have your visual sense in high gear, you may not want to stop your observations to make notes. Rather, take in all the information you can and then draw what you see immediately afterward.
One technique is to draw a circle or oval to suggest the human shape. Designate the upper half of the circle as the head, since you'll probably get the strongest sense of the
