Card 4 and its cover (card 17): 5 of Cups/3 of Pentacles. The 5 of Cups showed Debbie's sadness from the recent past, either not having a job she enjoyed or the fact that she didn't get the one she'd applied for. The good news was that the worst card of the spread (5 of Cups) regarding her job was in the process of leaving her life! |

Card 5 and its cover (card 16): Queen of Wands R/Judgment. The Queen of Wands R represented the woman who got the job Debbie was promised. Now the Queen of Wands R is Debbie's new boss! Debbie told Arlene she'd had a very hard time with this woman, and she was the reason Debbie wanted to move to another place or situation. So even though the fifth position is what may or may not happen, the Queen of Wands R surely had been encouraging Debbie to get out and look for another job. The Judgment card on top of the Queen of Wands R meant the Queen wouldn't be able to manage her new position and would be judged by her higher-ups later, or that the Queen would have a personal awakening about her new position. |

Then, news flash! Five days after this reading, Debbie called and told Arlene the position that Debbie didn't get (the one that the Queen of Wands R got), would be terminated at the beginning of the new year! The Queen of Wands R would be transferred to a nice job, still in the same government section, but not the same position at all. Obviously, Debbie had been protected, if in a roundabout way. |

Card 6 and its cover (card 15): 6 of Pentacles/Ace of Wands. Because the sixth position card predicts what always will happen, it was clear there was a new job coming. The 6 of Pentacles represented that a job offer would bring both financial and personal success. And the Ace of Wands! This card indicated the beginning of a new job or career offer. Debbie smiled when Arlene told her this; she was happy to hear this news, of course, even though she didn't know what the new offer would be. |

Card 7 and its cover (card 14): 9 of Wands R/4 of Swords R. Here were Debbie's fears and/or attitude toward her own question: anxiety and stress over the work conditions, and fear that they would never get any better. The 4 of Swords R enhanced her fear that the whole situation would either stay the same or that something new would continue her anxiety. Remember, the seventh card (and its cover card, card 14) is what you feel or fear. It's an attitude you have, not a prediction of the future at all. |

Card 8 and its cover (card 13): 10 of Wands/10 of Pentacles. Now this was different. Arlene told Debbie that the burden (10 of Wands) she was carrying would eventually pay off in the 10 of Pentacles. She might have to struggle a bit longer, but she would come out okay in the end. Othersher friends and familysaw her exactly this way. They didn't like what she was going through and were hoping that she'd get out of it soon. At the same time, they knew all about the difficulties Debbie had been having about her job. |

Card 9 and its cover (card 12): The Tower R/4 of Wands. This position was what Debbie still had to pass through or process and integrate about her question. The Tower R indicated a surprise job or new direction coming suddenly, while the 4 of Wands cover card represented a good offer that she'd be happy about. It would come out of the blue, yes, but no matter when and where, it would end up well. |
