In a way, a reading draws on any and all of the various skills you've developed. You never know ahead of time how information may come to you, so be prepared to take it as it comesin whatever form it arrives. Because you'll be focusing all of your abilities on one person, the information is likely to come in a way best suited for his or heror your ownunderstanding. That principle applies whether or not the person to whom you're giving the reading is a complete stranger, a close friend, and even yourself. In fact, when you first start to perform readings, you might want to start where you know you'll get the most feedback: yourself.
Reading Yourself
In Chapter 19, we talked about the Akashic recordsthe extrasensory information that exists in another dimension, kind of like the ultimate, cosmic library. The records contain information about your livespast, and present (and perhaps, future). It also contains this information about everyone else, so it's basically a history of the world.

What's important for you is that the Akashic records contain information about your soul's growth and your present life's goals and purposes. The following meditation is a way to access the information about why you chose this lifetime and the people in it. Knowing this can help you understand what your life lessons may be and how you can better serve the world.
Meditation for a Journey to the Akashic Records
As with many of the meditations in this book, you may want to record this yourself or have a friend read it to you. Quiet music in the background is helpful when trying to focus your thoughts.
