What's Out There: The Paranormal and Psi |

''Paranormal" is a great catchall word for any experience that people can't explain with science. In a way, then, psi could be a subset of the blanket term "paranormal." But psi scientists strongly resist this idea because they don't want it grouped together with unusualand perhaps spuriousphenomena such as Bigfoot or alien abductions. |

However, despite the inherent strangeness of such sightings and experiences, the stories told by witnesses are surprisingly consistentenough so that the U.S. government sends experts to research and record them. |

|
One underlying theme that seems to surface fairly often is that paranormal sensitivity and psychic insight are linked in some way. This connection raises the question: Does psychic sensitivity open one up to having a paranormal experience, or does an experience with the paranormal increase one's psychic ability? Although there's no definitive answer to this question so far, the two types of awareness often seem to go hand-in-hand. |
