Some Ouija supporters suggest that the Ouija board enables otherworldly spirits to communicate freely, without having to work through the mind of a medium. Others would argue that the Ouija's spelled-out messages come from a part of the mind that sidesteps rational thought. Where the message itself originates, whether from a spirit world or one's deeply embedded personal intelligence, remains a fascinating mystery.

Going to the Earth's Source
While many people believe their source of spiritual or psychic information comes from the heavens, others believe it comes from nature and the earth underfoot. Do you remember when we talked about Gaia mind in Chapter 5? This is the idea that the earth is a living entity in and of itself, and each individual is just a smaller part of that greater level of consciousness.
In that vein, some people suggest that other aspects of the earthstreams, rivers, grass, trees, rocks, and mountainsalso have individual identities that fit into the grander scheme of the earth's purpose. In addition to providing tremendous natural resources, these entities provide great amounts of psychic power. Some followers of this theory claim that certain notable sites mark areas in which the earth's forces contain exceptional power, including Stonehenge, the Egyptian pyramids, and Buddhist monasteries.
