Believe it or not, the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field, referred to as the geomagnetic field. For years, experts thought that this magnetic force was too minimal to have any effect on human physiology or behavior. However, recent research shows that when the right mix of frequencies and patterns occurs, this geomagnetic field may indeed affect us in a variety of ways. (One theory even suggests that humans may have tiny traces of magnetic materials in their brains that operate similar to those found in homing pigeons' brains.) |

What makes it possible to study these effects (in addition to lots of new technological toys) is that these geomagnetic forces fluctuate. So, when the forces show high levels of geomagnetic energy, industrial and traffic accidents tend to occur more often. As the magnetic force levels decrease, telepathic ability appears to improvein both the emotional crises we described early in this chapter and in ganzfeld lab experiments. This correlation supports the theory postulated by many ganzfeld experimenters: that a decrease in external influences, whether from a subject's physical senses or the Earth's unseen forces, improves receptivity to psi. |

From ancient wisdom to present-day superstition, the belief that the full moon holds a power over people remains strong. And recent scientific research shows some correlation between lunar phases and certain human behaviorsincluding telepathy. |

In a 1965 experiment, neurologist Andrija Puharich showed that telepathy peaked during the full-moon phase, was high during the new-moon phase, but was very low during the half-moon phases. While Puharich theorized that the effects were due to the sun and moon's changing gravitational forces, as evidenced by the tides, other scientists were exploring the geomagnetic effects brought about by the sun and moon's cycles. They found that geomagnetic forces also decrease during the full moon. |

Actually, these theories do not necessarily conflict or refute the effects of psi. In fact, these findings support the same idea: that psychic ability, such as telepathy, seems to be strongest during full-moon phases and weakest during new-moon phases. For intuitive purposes, this means that psychic information may be more accessible during full-moon phases. But that doesn't mean you should forget about using your intuition during the new moonit's always there to help you! |
