Everybody dreams. Even those people who say, ''I never dream" dream; they just don't recall their nighttime reveries. In fact, sleep research reveals that everyone has at least four or five dreams a night! What they still don't know is why dreams occur or where dreams come from within the brain and body.
Whatever their source, dreams have captured the imagination and attention of philosophers, scientists, rulers, and average citizens since history began. Writers and artists from every culture have documented dreams, and today scientists are doing the same thing. Some investigate dreams as a function of the brain; others explore them as psychic phenomena. One fact remains: The more they learn, the more they want to know.
Are you the same? Do you want to know what your dreams mean? Could they really be windows to your psychic world? We'll explore these issues in this chapter.
