In addition, no evidence exists that people's prayers are sent anywhere or that any kind of energy is involved. Here's an interesting quote from Larry Dossey's book Healing Words, ''If prayer does not go anywhere, then it may simultaneously be present everywhere, enveloping sender, object, and the Almighty all at once. Physicists have a word to describe a world in which information is not sent, but that exists everywhere all at once: nonlocality."
Most scientists and physicians are not ready to accept the idea that all people share a single mind and source of energy. And yet shared thoughts definitely come into play when healing occurs through prayer. The source of this healing energy remains undefined, although it has been called many names over many millennia.
Are You a Doubter or a Doer?
Although you needn't believe in a specific God called by a certain name, faith and a true desire for wellness are important ingredients in many types of healing. Many people pray expecting that God will simply grant their requests. But it doesn't usually work that way. Prayer, with its built-in positive thinking, is a partnership. If you're always afraid to believe that it may work, you'll never even have a chance of knowing that it can.
