As discussed in previous chapters, meditation helps you receive intuitive guidance because it puts you in a state where your mind is relaxed and less distracted by everyday details. Over time, a daily meditation practice of 15 to 20 minutes will work wonders to replenish your body, mind, and spirit. |

Many people talk about how great meditation is. But if you haven't tried it, you might be inclined to ask, ''What's the big deal?" In fact, in today's busy world, taking time to do doing nothing is a big deal. But when you meditate, you aren't really "doing nothing." Meditation can: |

Most people find it easiest to meditate before they begin their day. Others like to practice at the end of the day. Try different times to see what works best for you. Despite how busy you are, make time for at least 15 minutes a day. Choose a time when you're most likely to be undisturbed and remember to turn your phone ringer off and your answering machine on, so you won't be interrupted or worried about missing anything. |

Keep in mind that meditation is a learned skill: You're training your mind to be stilland that takes effort, because your mind usually likes to jump around in a manner that many meditation teachers have described as a "drunken monkey" or refer to as "monkey mind!" Meditation means learning to focus your mind on one thing. This may be your breath as it moves in and out of your body, or a mantra or mandala. |

Here's the meditation that I use when I want to connect with my intuition: |

|
1. Sit in a chair with your back straight and your shoulders relaxed. Your feet can be on the floor or you may sit cross-legged, whichever is more comfortable for you. Fold your hands in your lap and close your eyes. |
