Hello, /trv/. This is my first venture here, but ah well.

I recently graduated high school, and I am looking to go see places. I have lived in Texas my entire life, and I am tired of all the same things around here. Would anon care to suggest "Must see" places?

My list currently is:
Japan
China (Too see the olympic stuff)
London
Africa

whole Europe

Any particular country? I am trying to keep the spending to a minimum.

Man, Beijing is a polluted shithole. Don't go there! :(

>London
Loads of free museums & galleries in London. British Museum, Imperial War Museum & Science Museum are the best, I think. Also don't forget the Albert memorial, Nelson's Column/Trafalgar Square and THe National Gallery (Thomas Gainsborough is the best painter there imo).

>Africa
Yeah baby! Do it. I used to live in Zambia - they have some nice national parks there. S. Africa is also good if you like a little more "modern" setup. But always, ALWAYS beware of niggers. Not being racist, it's true. Fuckers will steal anything.

I know nothing of Japan...

Ah, to add to that, may I volunteer Slovenia and Italy. Lake Bled in Slovenia is pretty nice.

Here's some nice copypasta I saved from another thread about Europe:
>1) One out of Scotish Highoands, Lake District or Irish countryside. All 3 are beautiful, but its just more of the same

>2) Ceske Krumlov, Czech. Best/worst kept secret of Europe, and beautiful town/surrounding

>3) Lake Bled, Slovenia. Mauntains, lake, forests, and cheap.

>4) Slovakia. Go hiking in the mountains, or just chill. For very cheap.

>5) Austria/Switzerland. Either Zell am See or Interlaken. Interlaken is good for adventure sports, and Zell am See is beautiful. But again, more of the same for both.

>6) Dalmatian coast. So either Croatia, or more adventurous, Montengro or Albania. very cheap, best coasts in Europe (screw the Costa del Sol), and awesome.

>7) Balkans. Go somewhere here. Inhuanly cheap, and more mountains than you can shake a stick at.

>8) Romania. Just do it. No regrets.

>9) Scandinavia. Go somewhere here, but doing the capitals is boring - be more adveturous and see the real countryside.

>10) One city break. Maybe two of your cultural. I started out doing only cities, but you realise that folly soon after. For good cities with loads to do, and not too expensive (which rules out Paris, Barcelona and London!) would be Berlin, Vienna or Budapest. Or Belgrade. Choose two off that list, but preferably not in countries you've visited. If you go to Zell am See, don't do Vienna, etc.

Wow, I am suprised this thread got many responses.

Also, what states have good things to see? I am tired of all this Texas shit around here. Dust and tumbleweeds, ETC.

I hate desert high or otherwise. I moved West to Oregon tired of the East coast congestion.

Here there is wilderness, forests, volcanoes, the sea and a coast to match. Google it.

the rest of the continental US, maybe some Canada if you feel like it.

This. Unless you'd rather just see the cities, in which case your expenses would probably limit you to a few days in Paris, London, Amsterdam, etc. (to say nothing of transport...)

Alternatively, you could take a few years out working and amass a small fortune (I'm assuming you live with your parents so no expenses). However, I know that gap years aren't exactly mainstream in the US, so you might have trouble getting your parents to buy into the idea. It was hard enough for me, as a Britfag.

Whatever. Remember that flying any long distance costs a lot and you're several thousand miles away from anywhere on your list. Realistically speaking, you'd need at least 2 years of work to pay for a trip which includes Japan and Africa.

If you don't intend to go to college you could always work while you're abroad, but you may have trouble finding employment as an underqualified southern American.

In any case, I strongly recommend the Scottish highlands (take the West Highland Way hillwalking route) and Northern Europe.

Hopefully you come from an extremely wealthy and generous family.

Go see Russia or some other slav countries .... It very differs from what u've been taught (or don't know ? what u've been taught).. U'll see , that Russia is not full of bears and people with da fur hats... Enjoy yourself in Russia .

Why do you slavfags always have to get defensive about your backwards third world countries? It's like China going all OCD with the PERFECT OLYMPICS. The more you deny, the more obvious it is that all you have is cheap hookers, ecstasy, and drunken underpaid cops.

you're an idiot

americanhere, and russia is not a "3rd world country" I've been there many times and would agree with him, but I recommend visiting there in about 4 years

Cheap hookers? Brah you've obviously never been to Moscow.

The drunken underpayed cops thing is true, but come on. If you're calling Russia a "backwards third world country" then you're obviously some nerd sitting in your moms basement who doesn't know anything about the world.

Some must see places to answer OP's question:

New York City (Everyone should go there at least once)
Egypt
Moscow & St.Petersburg
Kiev
Berlin
Dubai (enjoy ur fake city, but it's still cool)
Toronto and Quebec City (I skated on the St.Lawrence river when I visited there once, it was fucking awesome)

I'm more interested in knowing how OP intends to pay for all this.

Go to Tibet, see Mt. Kailas.
