Hey /trv/!

I'm planning on flying over somewhere, staying at a cheaper hotel for a week or two and then hitchhiking back to Estonia with some friends next July or so. The countries I have thought of are (in no particular order):
-Spain
-France
-Italy
-Crotia
-Albania
-Greece

So yeah, I want to stay in a coastal (Mediterranean) city where to relax but also enjoy the nightlife a bit. I should also have an interesting route to hitchhike back by. And we aren't exactly rich so cheaper is better.

So what places do you suggest?

Nice, FR is my nomination.

I'd say Barcelona. Pretty laid back and probably one of the best cities for nightlife in the world. And getting back to Estonia from there is bound to be quite the adventure.

-Spain : as the anon above said Barcelonia is good, "best nightlife" is exagerated but it's still very enjoyable. I didn't find the countryside to be anything special though.
-France : most obvious choice, especially in Fall/Winter. You want to go to Nice. Awesome nightlife and even more awesome countryside. Usually expensive but it's quite affordable this time of the year.
-Italy : too late in the year to go there.
-Croatia : dunno, never went there
-Albania : shithole all year round.
-Greece : dunno

I've spent a lot of BCN and I'm gonna have to agree with the others.

OP here, I've been to Barcelona (and then traveled south by car for a week and then spent a week near Estepona) and I should say I quite enjoyed it, though it was in October, not July, so that was one of my first choices. What about the beaches in Barcelona? Aside from a bit high levels of crime (mostly for dummies who don't know how to keep their wallets safe), they should be nice?

I also thought about spending that time in a smaller coastal town- would probably be cheaper, though the nightlife activities would suffer I guess...

I would recommend Montpellier, France. It's overlooked as a beach destination because the city isn't right on the coast, but there are lots of buses to the beaches (the closest being about 10 minutes away). There's also a huge student population, so there are lots of bars and clubs in and around the city. If you get bored, you have good transport links to other towns and cities along the south coast of France.

Any good coastal areas are going to be at their most expensive during the summer, but you might be able to find some student accomodation available because they're on summer break.

I second Montpellier.
