Starting a new life Anonymous
Situation:

Your life where you are is rather dull, though you enjoy it. You work, you come home, you entertain yourself. You like what you do, after all the books are good and the TV shows are interesting, but you are not really living. Your live in a fantasy world.

You decide not to take /b/'s advice to kill yourself. You realize anywhere else you move within the country you're in now will just be the same shit, different location. Where do you emigrate to really "live" your life?

I would go in a totally different place
where cultur and landscape are all different
like .. I'm a eurofag now I'd probably go in south-east asia
like thailand or the philippine (probably the philippine because of the language)

Don't go to the Philippines. Lived there for four months. Manila is very very VERY polluted and very very over populated. The city is either high rise buildings (or many in the making) or cardboard boxes on the sides of the highways that many people seem to live in. The people are nice, Yes but it would only be because you are white (presumably) and you are rich (supposably) But, I may be stereotyping. Nevertheless... Outside of the city is very beautiful. Not sure how much english is spoken outside of the city. There are very many tourist-based islands that are usually packed. And it's suggested (that if you are American) to not go to the south of the Philippines (Huge muslim population and tend to be rather "dangerous" But not sure. The embassy in Manila said that so I don't know.

Thailand, Belize, Peru, Aremenia.

Maybe even Antarctica? You could probably go there for some kind of science expedition.

I often think about this myself. Your best option would probably be to just do a world tour, never really settling. After spending 10-15 years doing that you'll probably be ready to settle somewhere and reflect on your past whenever you want excitement.

Some place with diverse landscapes to visit and explore nearby. Perhaps in remote parts of Colorado, or I could go all out and fly to South Africa.

I really want to live my life in a nice, rural area with beautiful scenery and rich culture. Maybe like some places in Germany, or smaller cities in the U.S. I live in Phoenix, Arizona right now... so it's kind of bland... besides some cool cactus I collect.

Even if I'm able to learn the language tolerably in six months, something unarchievable to an idiot like you, the cycle would still be something like 6 months of studying - 18 months of shit jobs to recoup the costs; not a good prospect. Also, it'd take forever to go though even a moderate amount of countries.

Actually, a girl I know had a pretty sucky life until she moved into a new apartment. Sure, she didn't move far away but since then she smokes less, eats healthier, stays in contact with her friends, doesn't whine as much as she used to and seems to overall enjoy life more freely :7

Southern Argentina is very nice.
I'd consider that, as well as Alaska, Northern Canada, New Zealand, the Australian outback, or the Swedish/Norwegian countryside.

Basically, any developed region with low population density, where you can be in touch with nature and live comfortably without having masses of humans annoying the fuck out of you.

It depends if you want to do it legally or not. Legally, there will be so much hassle related to permits, visas and everything, that you'd need someone local to help you with pretty much anywhere you want to move. I explored a lot of options and they were all impossible to pursue for someone who's pretty much all alone in the world.

thx but if I choose the philippine it's because I already know the country

and manilla =/= the whole philippines lol
I stayed in manilla and AC some times
but spend most of my time there in Leyte (near the Visayas, south of Samar) in a small village south of Tacloban City

the tourist place are always the same, they all go to fields av in Angeles City or to Cebu
or to the beach resort in samar
place like tacloban are almost touristless

huge muslim population is not dangerous, if you go deep in the mountain of the south island you might have trouble with the guerilla there (lik in the north with the communist guerilla) but then just avoid going alone in the mountain :D

also I stated only "because of the language" not to start a "myspace my life" thing
but my girlfriend is living there actually, I spend 4 to 6 months a year there (being 20yo)

This thread rocks.

I've lived in the fucking boondocks all my life, so I'd love to move somewhere like Tokyo, New York, or San Francisco (inb4 fagsahoy). I'm tired of being around rednecks all the time, with the horribly primitive culture and lack of exciting, interesting opportunities. Maybe when I get some money saved up...

Pretty much anywhere in Europe. It seems like their general population is more educated and enthusiastic about cars than where I live.

amerifag here,

I've been to belize, mexico, and europe. My favorite place though??

Alaska hands down. It really is unlike anything else in North America.

If you want city life you can go to Anchorage and get everything you want but be 20 minutes from absolute beautiful nature.

It really is like a different country. People up there are really laid back for the most part and don't give a fuck what you do.

Also tons of weed to smoke and people drink like crazy that and they are armed to the teeth soo.

down side?

limited job market 6 month of crazy winter, crazy natives, death by moose or bear.

if you can handle though it's fucking amazing :D

Besides the fact I would prefer to live in a land where summer never ends, Alaska sounds like a wonderful place. You'd really enjoy yourself more if you woke up to epic scenery like that every day, and not the fantastic view of suburbia et al. that others do and think "here goes another day". It would motivate you to get outside and live a little: at least, when it's not snowing and freezing as hell!

New York never "overtook" London in the first place. London has a thousand years on New York.

Okay, this is a complete tangent to the conversation so far but hopefully an enlightening perspective.
Our discontent with life does not stem from where we are. Sure cultures around the world are different, but even once exotic places are coming under the ever expanding rule of 'american attitude lifestyle', that idea that we have to have everything, nothing is greater than material and social success. Our lives revolve around a repetition of events that supposedly lead us to an unforeseeable goal. The false religious belief that our reward comes after death has left its mark in that rewards come later, productivity comes now. We are supposed to numbly work our way through life and then receive our grand reward, which is nothing but death. In this case it is a reward, the only true escape from a live full of trivial and meaningless interactions that will always leave us feeling unfulfilled.
Thus, individually we can run away to different hiding places, doing our best to survive and keep our spirits above becoming an hero. But the real discontent in our lives lies much deeper, ingrained in the very mindset of everyone since they were born, a subconscious passing down of the lives of our forefathers. We live with ghosts regrets.
So friends, brothers on this earth, I congratulate you on every step that you take to forge your own path, make your life truly yours, but remember to look deeper, for a real solution.

I would not want to move to one specific place. I'd get a large-ish fishing boat or sailboat and sail around the world, focusing mostly in the Caribbean, specifically the British Virgin islands. I went there once when I was a kid, and I've always wanted to go back.

I'd planned on Belize 8 years ago. It's tropical and ENGLISH. Then Fox did temptation island there and people found out about it.

I've since looked at some real estate there but some of it is realistically going to sink into the ocean fairly soon.

Immigrating to certain places requires exchanging $1000/month into their currency.

If you fly a flag of a certain country, that country's law enforcement can board you. If you fly no flag, any country can board you. This is on open sea of course.

You would have a different life as a Muslim living in North Africa if you were a farm boy from upstate New York. You can do the same shit any place in the world but it just depends where you do it and what else you can do there.

If you live in Russia you need to clear your driveway of snow. If you live in New Caledonia you need to pick up the fruit off the ground below your fruit tree before it rots. It just depends where you want to go to live the life you want if you're going to do the same shit no matter where you end up.
