I was thinking of going to Switzerland or Germany (language fag) next year through ERASMUS. I'd love to hear what others have thought of it as well.

I was in France on the program until February this year

Go to Münster. I'm not sure about the Erasmus offers here, but it's a great town and great Uni.

i'm from america and i'm very interested in the international erasmus program. could anon provide me with some info?

How was it? Worthy? Shitty?

>>16757
You really should talk with the mobility program in your uni, I'm not very sure how the erasmus outside Europe works. Still, if it's the same, your uni has to have some agreements with other unis to which you can apply for a study period (usually 6 months or one year).

as a polfag i can give you very important advice- dont go to poland...english level is very lame, and as i "watched" other international students- it's very hard for them to live here :\
of course- nothing is immposible, and if you really want to do this- good luck, but i still dont recommend it

Lol no. Faculcies are scattered through the whole city. Shit sucks.

How about Wroclaw? I heard it's heaven on Earth for international students. Can't say the that for the rest of Poland, though.
>> Anonymous
>>16795
dunno about Wroclaw, as a student from Gliwice i based my observations on this city. Wroclaw for sure will be better as it's much bigger city and one of the most important ones in Poland- but HOW MUCH better it is, i cant say.

I'm very interested in this too. I'm in the UK, still in college, and specifically want to go to a uni with a lot of international links.
Does anyone know any places which are good for this?

Hey I was there in the fall semester of last year. I loved it, having always wanted to live in a small city. Though it got a bit boring after the first two months.

I'm from Turkey by the way...

Are you going to say your friends are leaving and you should go with them now? - This actually did happen quite a few times :)
>> Anonymous
I was thinking of going this semester, but I was too late for application. But, fags here mostly went to some Tampere Institute of Technology, which I've been told was fail.

Pretty much how is life in general in Wroclaw. Is it a nice place to be in for 6 months? How is the university (if you know)?

Only now I noticed>>16822this post was the same person as>>16813
Nevermind about Wroclaw then.
Have you been there, though?

About Poland, you think it'll be hard to make polish friends being an outsider? Also, I'm quite worried about the language, looks hard like hell.

>Have you been there, though?
yeah, it's a beautiful city and university itself is one of the best in poland- so hopefully it won't be as lame as in my city :)

>you think it'll be hard to make polish friends being an outsider? Also, I'm quite worried about the language, looks hard like hell.

you can expect 2 things:

1. will be some formal problems (for example schedule will be only in polish) ,you will probably have to look for non-polish materials (books etc, not materials from classes) by yourself, and as it is very hard to get them in poland, i suggest using internet or just bring them with you from your country.

2. Polish people will be very helpful, and i bet they would love to help you to get around- just dont be afraid to ask them.

Also dont bother learning polish that much, just learn couple useful sentences and this will be enough to make your polish friends happy ;)

when are you planning to go? this semester or later? - since october i'll be studying there computer science if everything will go fine ;)

If I'm going it's going to be in the beggining of 2009.

And I'm still going to give my best shot in learning polish, even if I can't get "too far" in the language, it's one of the things I want to do while being abroad. Learn (or at least try) a language.

You're going to study in Wroclaw? I'm also in computer science, btw.

>>16911
yeah, im going to start (at least planning to start) computer science there in the next year instead of continuing electronics on the other uni.

like i wrote in the earlier post:
"nothing is immposible, and if you really want to do this- good luck" :).
About "learning polish"- if you want to- that's great, poles understand that their language is fucked up and hard to learn for a foreigner and even if you'll make terrible mistakes using it, they will be happy to see trying :).

I wrote not to learn it, because I dont think that anyone "demands" an exchange student to learn polish while he's here.

I traveled through Poland once and everybody seemed to act put out when I asked for directions/translations/anything actually.

Long story short, avoid Poland if English is your first language.

well i was thinking about students, at least those ones, who arent dumb and understand english. Old people can be pain in the ass...

Planning to head to Stockholm for next year (from Ireland). Really looking forward to it.

If want to study in Germany, especially in Munich.
Ludwig Maximilian University

I can recommend the University of applied languages. 30 guys and over 600 girls on campus. just check the downloads for application

A few of my friends were there while I was in Münster. Lüneburg is a very small town with absolutely nothing to do other than dorm parties and shit, but Hamburg is only a 30 (I think) minute bus ride away and we all know Hamburg has a vibrant social life. They haven't told me of any particular "schweinerei" of the locals as that Anonymous said, but that might have been because they were all girls and probably didn't mingle with the local much anyway, being large enough a group.
