The place is surrounded by douzens of more or less little islands which are a surprising change from the hectic dull downtown of Hong Kong (especially the southern shore).

Take a ferry to Lamma Island from pier 1 (if I recall correctly) and walk the nature trail through the island, it's a completelly different side of Hong Kong. Just a 25min with ferry and you wouldn't even know you were in a metropolis like HK (well apart from the huge powerplant). There is various routes through the island but you should atleast reserve a couple of hours to hike through it, it's also good idea to pick up some beverages with you especially if it's a hot day. The trail is doable even if you aren't in goodshape and the trail itself is fairly well kept and easy to move at, the island also has one or two beaches and bunch of restaurants and cafes aswell with all the facilities.

Or you can go to downtown and enjoy the view of the biggest nigger dick in the history - in case they haven't removed the add yet.

Picture related to latter one.

Actually, that sounds great. Cheers!

Like the other guy said, definitely explore some of the less inhabited islands around there. Some pretty interesting hiking to do. Also check out Macau if you can.

Going to Hong Kong May soon actually. Will be arriving on the May 31.
Me and gf got bored with Europe, we've been just about everywhere here. So we're looking over to asia now. We've been to Beijing and Kyoto before but going to Hong Kong Now.

From what I have read, which isn't a whole lot, there seems to be a lot of things to do. They even have a disneyland there. :P
There is also the AsiaWorld-Expo which my gf said we could check out as well. They are going to have a big jewellery fair there in June if that's of any interest.

The rest of the time we're just going to enjoy the spa at the hotel and do some shopping probably. A bit of sight seeing will probably be included and one of those "cruise" (or whatever you want to call them) boats that takes 4 hours with restaurants and all of that in victoria harbor sounds interesting too.

Best thing to do, since you live there, might be to take a buss or something and go as far from where you usually are and explore there.

Delete "May" after Hong Kong. Was going to write something else at first but changed my mind but for some reason I still wrote "May". :P

If you can then you should vist the Mong Kok market, the Causeway bay shopping district (Victoria park MTR exit), the daily victora harbour laser show at 8pm and the view of HK island from Kowloon harbour side.

If I were you I wouldn't expect much from Disneyland which btw is next to the asia world expo centre, and the airport) as it is minutely tiny and too expensive. Travel fees to the Expo cost around 200HKD return and this is before you've bought the event ticket(s).

If you can, Try the MTR (Metro) at rush hour.
Also, For its outstanding view of Hong Kong (see OP's image) The Peak is worth a vist.

Golden Gate Shopping Centre for PC/IT/electronics (MTR: Sham Shui Po exit D) and the markets also in Sham Shui Po at exit C, where no phone can not be found at a rock bottom price.

Have a trip on the tram, only 2HKD, for that classic feeling, err..

Lan Kei Fong (LKF) is the working class pub/bar district, nice area.
The 'Red light' area would be the Wan Chai pub and bar district - avoid at all costs!

Can't think of anything else.
