Violent white supremacist drug trafficking surfer gangs. I read about it on the internet.

I think you'll find Australia positively delightful, with many redeeming features for this "white supremacist" problem reported a moment ago. I can also put up rent for you if you'd be interested. Free of charge with its little perks, get in touch. :)

Depends where you're going I guess. Dangerous flora+fauna in some parts, dangerous people in others.
Protip, if you're gay don't go to Melbourne. If you do go then try and hide it. I had some pretty bad experiences there.

Cricket's the second-most popular sport after soccer. At the very least 1 in 6 people worldwide take an interest in it.

...If you don't get the joke, you need to lurk moar. It's been spammed countlessly on /b/ ever since it happened.

Anyway, to the OP, don't come here in the summer unless you're into 40C+ temperatures and bazillions of flies. Spring's a good time to visit.
If you're into beaches, sun, water and that sort of outdoors stuff, most of Queensland and some of the beaches in Sydney and the rest of NSW will be good for you. Sydney has the obvious must-see landmarks of course.
Melbourne has the most vibrant and best cultural, arts, music, shopping (though this one's closely contested with Sydney) and sports scene, but it lacks the "outdoor-ness" of cities further north. Melbourne is probably the most European-style city in the Southern hemisphere.
I don't really have time to provide much more info right now, but there's a bit of a start.
If you want more help specific to your needs, tell us where you're planning on going and what you're into.

Sydfag here. Melbourne's shopping kicks seven shades of shit out of Sydney and we know it.

Heh, yeah that's true I guess. I just wanted avoid offending any Sydfags and sparking another BAWWW-fest over whether Sydney or Melbourne is better.
I just read in a paper today that some shopping magazine did a mass survey and found Melbourne has the best shopping in Aus. But I'm not really too into shopping, so I'm not one to judge.

Bra boys aren't white supremacist. They're not particularly violent most of the time either.

>>28179
Summer is fine unless you're in Alice Springs or something. Melbourne is the most European city in the southern hemisphere? Buenos Aires? Also who cares, people don't come to Australia for the fucking Moomba festival and shitty Australian art, they want to see a koala and go to the beach.

Go to WA and NT, see some real shit, don't just follow the tourist trail up the east coast with all the retarded backpackers.

>Bra boys aren't white supremacist. They're not particularly violent most of the time either.

Exactly. They just portray the badass image in the surf world and get people to buy their t-shirts. Basically "We grew up in the oh so tough hood in Sydney. You're not cool enough to be us but please buy our t-shirts and watch our movie lulz".

Hey whatever works, I guess.

"Arts" doesn't necessarily mean art in the sense of visual art, and culture doesn't just mean in the sense of festivals. Though maybe you need to get out of your little surfing town or whatever for once to understand that concept, and that there's more to Australia than beaches and koalas. Not everyone comes to Aus for the outdoors.
I'm not saying people should only take the all-too-popular trip down the East Coast, just saying you're being pretty damn arrogant. There are a lot of interesting cultural things to see in the cities and not only the beaches. I love the outback and believe more tourists should be experiencing something truly unique and Australian, and take a visit to the NT, WA and other inner parts of Australia.

I agree. There's also beer, hot chicks that like American accents, and shrimp on the BAAAWWWWWWWWWWWbie.

when i went a few years ago, i enjoyed Melbourne a lot. nice city, not too clean, very varied, and i took a (faggoty) day tour of the Great Ocean Road. I recomend it. the rain forest is fascinating! 4,000-year-old FERNS! AWESOME!

but then again, I'm a nerd, and into plants and evolution and what not.
