Hello all travelers,I am new to this board but I was considering something that i think you fine people may be able to help me out with so here it goes....I currently live in the USA and as the government is failing to do what I believe it should be doing I have decided I want to move outside of this country for a while if not the rest of my life,I am currently in a class to become a CNA(nursing assistant) and then after a while of doing that and saving money I want to move. I live in oregon now(moderate climate) and would like to move to some place similar. my other stipulation is that I want to move to a relaxed feeling country,I have heard scandinavia is nice and easy going but I was wondering about the language barrier,I am not opposed to learning a new language in fact I am all for it but how difficult is it to learn say norwegian, danish or dutch?

TL:DR

I would like to move outside the US,I am going to be a CNA in a short while, how is the medical field as far as employment in a different country and what is the language barrier like.

Pic sort of unrelated, its my farm

The Balkans are nice and laid back; the language is easy too, not to mention some 5 countries use the same one. As for climate, I figure you will get similar (probably more extreme) winters, and it gets pretty hot over there too, but nothing terrible normally.

Really though, people all over there are cool about everything. They are also very kind and welcoming -- a host will sell their shoes to feed their guest.

Nice farm by the way.

As a native speaker, you can make a living teaching English in any developing nation with no certification for teaching whatsoever. The Balkans was a good example of that.

Also, I don't think you'll face much of a language barrier in Scandinavia, as most people speak at least some English and a quite a few people speak native level English.

I've been in Sweden a week and there is barely a language barrier. Swedish is also really easy to pick up. Come here.

It can get pretty hot in the summer in the Balkans though, so it's more of a mediterranean climate.

If you're looking for countries with moderate climates then you've got quite a lot of choice in Europe. I'm from the Netherlands and even though I'm not a big fan of moderate climate myself ( prefer mediterranean ) it's still a nice country to live in. It's quite relaxed, with legalised soft-drugs/prostitution etc. One thing you have to consider though that it's pretty densely populated, so not too much nature around, and the nature that we have is pretty boring ( unless you like flat grasslands ).

Language shouldn't be too hard I guess, it's the same "family" of language ( germanic ) so there's a lot of similarities.

Forgot to say, most of the dutch people speak at least basic English. So you can talk with most people even if you don't know the language.

Fun facts:
70% of Norway is fluent in English (The rest pretty much all have some knowledge of it).
55% percent of The Netherlands.

Why not Canada?

Not true. You'll need some kind of qualifications to do that. I should point out that from socialist influence most of the countries there have free University tuition and such, so it is expected that you have a degree for any white collar job.

Not sure about other places though, but you definitely need a degree of some sort to get into most jobs, including teaching.

This is true, it can get pretty roasting. You adjust quickly though because it's not difficult atmosphere, it's just plain warm.

Though, I cooked last summer in my attic with no air conditioning and good insulation because of the Bosnian winters, ho ho.

I dont mind losing the landscape or the beautiful nature,to be honest I get a bit bored of living on a farm because of the lack of things to do besides go hiking and explore the woods. Also what about gun laws as I am a avid hunter(deer and elk),I dont need a semi-auto,a bolt action rifle is just fine.

not a huge fan of canada, too close to the united states and almost every canadian I have met has had a large superiority complex mostly talking about how much better canada is to america.

Skandinavia is in need of people in the medical field. So expect to be payed well (living costs are high though). English is no problem there: ever heard of ABBA ?

ABBA isnt bad in my opinion,if you are meaning the band, I dont mind their music. Does anyone know what the average salary for a CNA,not sure what they are called in other parts of the world, is or what the average salary for a nurse is?

Get your fix out of the way because you won't be owning a weapon. It'll be either too expensive or takes forever to get the paperwork through.

Ah,I can live without guns,I just enjoy hunting

Also,to the butthurt amerifag...you forget that our country was founded by "foreigners" and at least I want to move out and experience other places rather than live in america all my life.

No, you are just fleeing the sinking ship as soon as possible and after sucking Scandinavians money and living their high standards that you would never be able to even dream about within the cow fences of your little Oregon house, you'll probably move to FL with all the retirement money.

Shut up about experiencing stuff overseas, finding your inner self blahblahBAAAAAAAWWWWWWW. You just can't cope with the poverty that's been or is about you bite you in the ass and leave with you a butthurt

?? not OP, but seriously, fuck you. anybody willing to completely uproot themselves to get out of a country which they believe is failing to do its duty to its people ought to be applauded for their strength. it takes balls to even seriously consider leaving behind everything one has ever known.
