Hey /trv/.

I leave for France on Wednesday. It's through student touring, but I'm nervous. Anything I should make sure to bring? Any suggestions, key phrases? I've had two years of French, but that doesn't feel like enough. Any suggestions to not make myself look like an american? We're going to Paris and the normandy and burgandy regions. Any must-see places or shops in Paris? Weeaboo connections? Also, tips for surviving the flight helps.

Even if you don't speak a word of French, put some French words when you talk or you will have your ass kicked
such as bonjour, merci, sil vous plait, aurevoir, excuse moi

Also in Paris: Champ Elyses, Montmartre, Note Dame de Paris

Normandy: American cemetery

I've been to Paris last week. I only talked in English and everyone was polite enough to help me. I don't know why people always bitch about French people not talking English, because believe me, I asked a LOT of people for help (fucking subways, I don't understand them) and all of them helped me.

never had a problem in Paris, but I was always alone or with a small group of family/friends. It helps a lot to speak even a little bit of French, but don't sweat it too much. As for looking American thats going to be hard seeing as (student) tour groups are probably the most crass and disrespectful people ever.

That's what I'm afraid of. The students from my school are mostly very respectful, quiet people who I'll personally slay for getting too out of control, but we're traveling with two other schools who we don't know.

Also, they gave us these orange and blue backpacks to carry around. Je suis americanne!

Ahhh, EF Tours. I went to Greece with them, it was terrible. We were just shuttled around in a tour bus the whole time (except when we were on the cruise ship).

Anyway, you WILL look American, no matter how much you try to blend in and learn the language. That's not particularly bad, mind you, but just remember that you're not fooling anyone.
