New Zealand or Australia?

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and her parents are flying both of us anywhere for free. She's got a huge boner for Heath Ledger, so she wants to go down under.

Are either of these places fun? Which is better? etc.

PS I freak out at the sight of spiders...

Yes, I also try explaining this to her. And that he was a sub par actor at best, but that's another story for another day.

he really wasn't all that great you know.

Can't you just fly to either one and take a boat to the other? o.O

To be honest, I think that a lot of Heath's performance in TDK was down the make-up.

It exaggerates his features so that it becomes much more absurd and weird.

Both?
>> Anonymous
The two countries are so close together it's relatively cheap to hop between them so you might as well take advantage of the situation and do both.

NZ is better

We've decided on NZ. Her parents aren't really that enthusiastic about going to both, plus I really don't want to go to America JR.

if you are going to New Zealand, you either ski in Canterbury or get hammered. That is all

Don't go to NZ. I've been there a couple of times and I work with a few hundred (fast food industry is full of the ones that managed to make the swim over here to Australia). They're not very nice people.

NZ sucks; there's nothing to do except ski and look at mountains. It's small, and sheep outnumber people by about 20:1.

Quite simply, there's so much more to do in Australia. Melbourne and Sydney are internationally renowned cities, Melbourne more for its culture and Sydney for the sheer bustle of it all. Brisbane is nice and warm too, lots of famous beaches up that way.

You can go inland and look at the stunning outback scenery. I would recommed Kakadu national park, pristine wilderness teeming with animal life. You'll probably get eaten by a crocodile but you'll be in paradise while it eats you.

Don't worry about spiders, they've pretty much been driven out of the cities. I hope you come here and spend your money, we need it.

From Oz it's only a few hundred for a return ticket to the ski fields, if fact it's as cheap as going to Thredbo in NSW but you get duty free as well. If it were summer I'd suggest 50/50 time in both countries, with the Bay of Islands and shit, but in winter spend your time around Oz and fly to NZ for skiing if you're into that sorta thing.

NZfag here.

>>52339
This anon is partially correct. Sydney, Melbourne etc are all world-class cities. They are big, commercially massproduced and fake. There's plenty to spend your americash on, so you'll probably leave with an extra suitcase or 2.
But put it this way- Australia is a desert. Barren land. It's not exactly meant for humans. Unless you cover yourself up with layers of paint and dance around with a didgeridoo. Every wild creature is out to get you. Everything is poisonous. Insects, arachnids, snakes, mosquitoes fucking FLIES.
It hardly rains there, so in summer they have these 'water restrictions'. Means you cannot shower more than twice a day, cannot wash your car or pets more than once a week, that sortof shit.
What I'm trying to say is.. they basically have this vast territory that is relatively easy to exploit, so the massive growth and metropolization is not surprising. Indeed an America Jr.

I should be defending NZ, but this country is laughable compared to Australia.
But I do suggest you spend your time here though, for reasons you must have already figured out.

OP, you'd enjoy either country tbh.

NZfag #2 Here. Having lived for considerable amounts of time on either side of the ditch I must say I wholeheartedly prefer it here (NZ) however Aus does have some cool shit. I can imagine if I was coming from the US seeing other large international cities wouldn't be particularily high on my agenda. Seeing some fucking cool nature, meeting some cool people and having some interesting experiences would be what Id be looking for. Both countries offer this, but in Aus you have to drive fucking 000's of km's to get between places of interest, whereas we have nearly as many place of interest (as the east coast of aus anyway) crammed into an much smaller and more interseting area. So I guess for bang for buck, NZ all the way. And make sure you go to either Coromandel, the Bay of Islands or preferably both, fucking hard to beat in summer.

Uhh I just had a thought, if you are coming reasonably soon then go to aus, most likely will still be wet and horrible here until at least decemeber. Feb-march is your best bet NZ wise.
>> Anonymous
what a joke. like NZ is any possible comparison. it's like comparing a 1980's Mazda with a Bugatti Veryon
>> Anonymous
They're pretty much the same fucking thing, but NZ is wetter and Australia is bigger and flatter.

There is really very little you can see in one that doesn't exist in the other. NZ has volcanic-related attractions, which is a novelty to us tectonically-dead Australians but maybe not a big deal to anyone else (visit Rotorua, it smells like shit!). Australia has everything NZ has and more, but it's all really spread out.

IMO, it depends how long you're staying. If you'll be here for a couple of weeks, Australia has more shit to see and do. If you're only planning on sticking around for a little while, NZ has most of the same things but closer together for your convenience. Remember to ask them to say "fish and chips" a lot; they love that.
>> Anonymous
I would prefer to go to NZ than Australia, but thats just becuase I feel it to be more relaxed than australia.
>> Anonymous
Australia more diverse in what you can see and do.

NZ is beautiful, more relaxed, and the people are all the things you like about the Brits without most of the thins you don't.

World's biggest kites are made in NZ.

Water restrictions don't apply to showers for fuck's sake.

Lots to see in either country, OP. NZ is greener, has more hills, Australia has allkinds of shit, not just desert (although we do have a lot of that). One of the other posters was right in saying that everything is further apart here,so you better like driving.

America jr? We have our share of wiggers etc but we are still very different from americans, thank god.

Ugh, NZ fag reporting in from Wellington. Don't come here at this time of year, the weather is awful.

I would spend time in both, but if you have less time, go for NZ as you can see a bigger variety of scenery. Also, the south island >>> north island..

Reason? Not as many niggers

One More NZ-Fag here (auckland)

Um,.. yeh i hope you're coming later in the summer cos new zealand is shit in winter unless you're keen on.. the snow..?

If you're here for a while i'd say either backpack, or hire a campervan (there's a bunch of budget campervan companies set up for slightly-richer-than-backpacker crowd).

But yeah you'll definitely have to travel around to have any fun, cos our 'cities' are shit.

Oi, we call them Maoris over here mate.
Um aussie has some great tourist attractions, and some amazing beaches. But NZ has some great ski fields, scenery, and cities. What do you enjoy doing? I rate tramping/camping in NZ very highly, summer or winter. Visiting the southern alps is a must. Look up Mt Ruapehu, Taupo, Rotorua, and Queenstown on google for all sorts of tourist sites that will give you some idea of what you can spend your money on. Do you like theatre and film festivals? Then you're too late to come to wellington, the arts festival is over. But normally that's what you'd come here for. Skydiving, skiing, whitewaterrafting etc? Then Taupo or Queenstown. Thermal pools and volcanos? Taupo and Rotorua. Getting mugged, casinos, fish and chips? Auckland. Lots of white people and old buildings? Christchurch.
Oh, and watch out for aussie, the other anon was right, EVERYTHING there is poisonous.
