Hey OP you can prolly get a job with the gov' doing IT.
For federal jobs: http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/Search_en.aspx http://jobs-emplois.gc.ca/
For provincial (Ontario) jobs: http://www.gojobs.gov.on.ca/Jobs.aspx
For municipal jobs: http://www.toronto.ca/employment/
If you are able to get a job with the gov., then they'll do all your visa stuff and speed it up too, of course.
If NOT, then the easiest place to get a visa to Canada (either for work or permanent) is through Newfoundland - cause they have a low labour force and need people.
I don't know of any private IT firms in Toronto off the top of my head but one my friend works for the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transportation in the provincial level, setting up servers etc., he makes about 70-80k per year + allowances and all the benefits that come from working with the government.
