Swefags!

Canadafag here. I need your help. Heading to Sweden, near Stockholm to be specific, in a few days. Staying with family so major attractions & place to stay are no issue, same for food I guess.

1. Swedish food is kind of sucky, isn't it? Any good chinese/lebanese/italian restaurants in Stockholm? Or are they a dime-a-dozen?

2. What should I bring with me? My cousins are big Québec fans, so I was thinking of getting them stuff from there, along with other things... But what do you think I should bring, other than maple syrup, that they couldn't get themselves? I got a few shirts but other than that can't find much (I live on the Ontario/Québec border, the former's side so montreal and quebec are out of reach).

3. What's the price of a McDonald's sandwich?

4. What's the inflation level like? Like, if 1CAD = ~5.5SEK, would things be related in that ratio? Like, something 10CAD here would be 55SEK there? Or are things really pricey? (from what I understand food is, if only because we live next to a massive agricultural hub...)

5. Name me stuff I should look out for, things to bring back for my family & friends back here. Looking for stuff Made in Sweden preferably; none of this cheap shit "made in prc" rubber-stamped to match the country they're selling it in.

6. Other than Quebec things what would you, as a swefag, like to get from your canadafag friends?

Swedish meatballs = the only good swedish food I could think of.

Now stuff like pickled herrings? Not really my kind of thing, sorry.

not a swefag but stayed there for a week (ie, bullshit advice headed your way!!)

4) Everything just costs way more than you can imagine. a good benchmark is a beer (not even a pint) in a decent pub: set me back £3-£4 (so 6-8usd). that will give you an idea, but not really an issue if you're staying with people.

7+8) Hello is pronounced like "hey", with an emphasis and slightly elongated Y sound. "Thanks" is "Takk", the A comes out a bit like an O. really though, i don't know about bothering with language too much - everyone remotely near a city speaks perfect english and people i spoke a bit of swedish to seemed a bit bemused (and giggly).

lastly: i don't know what swedish people will say but when i was there, the poon was OBSCENE. i mean, amazingly hot girls everywhere as you walk around stockholm. it's a cliche but it's true (maybe just compared to london D:), so enjoy that while you can.

3. A Big Mac is 32 kroner. That's $4.59. Figure out how much that is in your shitty duck dollars.
7. Fucking google it, faggot.
8. They speak English. French is for faggots like you.

of course stockholm is going to look like heaven compared to london - there aren't fat cows walking around.

>lastly: i don't know what swedish people will say
Most likely not agree; I guess nobody likes their culture's women (there's a fair amount of people here and on /s/ who are madly in love with lebanese women, I can't stand 'em) and the same is probably true for swedes

>but when i was there, the poon was OBSCENE. i mean, amazingly hot girls everywhere as you walk around stockholm. it's a cliche but it's true (maybe just compared to london D:), so enjoy that while you can.

FUCKING YES SWEET PROMOTIONS. I'm there for an entire month, too!

The people I'm staying with speak arabic, english, and two of them, along with one's kids, speak a french, so I'll be covered if I'm with them... It's just in case I get lossed in Stockholm or something, to ask "Oh hai how do I get to X location?"...

Speaking of swedish girls, any tips? Did you have a rough time, assuming you were out trying to get some? I don't know much about what turns swedish girls on (in the sense that often american girls, and to a lesser extent canadian girls, love a guy who speaks french (or maybe I'm just in the wrong crowds)).

Thank you faggot, helpful as always.

The bigmac comes from a project me and my old teacher had, we're comparing the price of a mcdonald's bigmac across the world. I think his record was in Luxemburg, they wanted something like 15$.

dude swedish children learn english in the state school system ridiculously early. ANYONE will be able to understand you completely and respond eruditely (although younger people more likely to fully understand).

as for the wimmins, i have no luck here in britain, let alone sweden so i don't know how i could help you out really. i dont think speaking french would impress them that much but who knows. being from canada you might be interesting to swedish people inherently but i'm really the wrong person to ask, sorry.

5: Have a visit to "Gamla stan" ('the old town') in Stockholm, basically the part of town that is what stockholm started out as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamla_stan

1. It's pretty decent in my opinion if you look aside the traditional crap like herring, liver and shit. Try meatballs, swedish game (like elk!) with potatoes and sauce.

But yeah, we have a lot of that too. I'm a fan of asian food and you can get that a lot in Stockholm. Like every other metropolis, sushi is trendy and people like it alot. I don't go to fancy places, but you seldom get disapointed with the food.

2. Uh, your stuff sounds enough. Otherwise, regardless of the prices, you should look for swedish fasion.

3. It's $8.5 something.

4. Yeah, correct. Food and drinks are pretty pricy. Expect high quality though.

5. Uh, the dalahäst, and a viking helmet, I don't know? As I said earlier, cloths are the way to go.

6. Food stuff. Like maple or anything like that. We love canadians in Sweden since we view you, scandinavia and the Netherlands as the most open minded and thus supreme people of the earth.

7. Thank you: "Tack" Good bye: "Hej då (pronounced "hei daa") Please: "Snälla/Tack" (Like german, "bitte") Hello: "Hej". It can be pretty tricky for a native english speaker.

8. No. Some people are taught french in school, but they rarely remembers it. I learned spanish, still know how to order a beer.

You should visit Gamla stan (old city), walk down strandvägen, take a stroll on Djurgården, shop at Drottninggatan or in Södermalm. I love the city.

Have a good trip!

Seeing that your relatives speak Arabic, must mean you are middle eastern in descent.

You shouldn't have any problems with the Swedish Girls. You can just rape them. I hear it quite popular over there lately.

Swefag here

1. Don't worry about swedish food in restaurants, you won't find any, or at least it's rare. Swedes eat way more food that isn't from our culture than we eat the traditional "husmanskost". There are many good restaurants and pizzerias and whatnot around.

2. Just bring cash. You can get maple syrup here.

3. Avoid McDonald's, seriously. If you go for a menu though the price ranges from around 50-60 Swedish Kronor.

4. Sweden is somewhat pricey, don't expect great deals in shopping. We go to the US and think everything is cheap.

5. Nothing from a tourist shop. I really don't know.

6. Bring some candy or something that we don't have here, it's good for giggles sometimes. Other than that there's really nothing. You're not exotic enough (everything is almost sweden only on a larger scale).

7. it's been covered, but most people still speak english.

8. No french, and don't try to impress girls with french because we really don't care.
