Uh, I was stationed in Germany for two years, and they do have many, many weird holidays I know nothing about, and my German girlfriend is mostly like "lol I dunno we just do".

One of them is something like ehat your talking about. Every single last German will be wearing a costume and will be out on the town getting shit-faced drunk. Its like halloween, only its not. They actually role-play as whatever they are dressed up as, which is weird. Germans are also about 700% more friendly on this day, I assume because they are role-playing as people that don't hate Americans and are drunk.

There is also some random holiday where females wear ties, and kiss any random male stranger that is wearing a tie. I can't even start to confirm that because I was either deployed or in the feild during whatever holiday that was all about.

First of all it's called Fasching it's starting on the 11.11 on 11.11 o' clock. In some cities they dress up(only in a few, Colonia, düsseldorf and some other cities) and get really drunk.
Most people in germany annoys fasching and pisses us off.
Fasching only exists to give us a intersection from the oktoberfest to mulled wine time so we have a reason to party and drink.
Nothing more to say about it.

Fuck you, it's called KARNEVAL. Only complete idiots call it Fasching.

Sounds like Weiberfastnacht. On this day women usually 'conquer' the cityhall and cut the ties of men in power. But since it is accompanied by extreme drinking they start to cut all ties they see and kiss everyone. Quite nice actually.

And it's a nice event to see as a tourist. Go to Köln or Düsseldorf on Rosenmontag to see German drunken madness with costumes, candy and women.

Makes me wonder how much is known about this outside Germany. Do you only know the Oktoberfest?
