THIS is the city the Olympics is supposed to be held in AnonymousInBeijing
It LITERALLY hurts to breathe. My throat was sore when I woke up this morning, along with a bunch of other peoples. None of us are sick.

My god, even Charles Dickens would have been surprised by the smog, and he was from Victorian London.

Developmentally, China is a bit like Victorian London, just on a bigger scale

There is no blue sky in China, only gray overcast.

Unless you live in the countryside, but who'd want to live there?
>> darn right lolninja
Oh ya, went to china over the summer, out of the 40 plus days i was there, only 1 day had a blue sky, and the night before it rained.

the rain apparently also had some serious acid content, because even though the streets were filled with people, in like 10 minutes BOOM everyone's gone.

no, i'm not being racist, i'm chinese and even i see the irony.

I was going to study abroad in Beijing because I didn't want to have to deal with some shitty dialect, but my god. Hangzhou, here I come, I guess.

I really dig their anthem, though.

Is that all smog, or is that partly Gobi Desert sand as well?

I was there in March 2k5, and it was smoggy, in that the sky was never blue, but always a brown-grey overcast, but a very light shade, never like this.

Still had to blow my nose 93243 times a day to get the black crusty shit out, though.

Hmmm, that is highly unusual. When I was in Beijing in January the city looked like a million bucks all four days. Blue skies and able to see fairly distant buildings. Are you sure that isn't a sand storm or something? I know that it USED to be bad, but the government shut down a lot of factories or forced them to move to a different city because of the Olympics, and only even certain cars can be on the road on certain days according to even or odd license plate numbers.

Maybe it just SEEMED great in comparison to Guangzhou, which really was extremely polluted.
