hey trv,
i'm flying down to Costa Rica, and I don't remember too much spanish from high school. Does some well traveled anon know if there are bilingual signs or patient locals in the airport at san jose and quepos? I dont like the idea of missing transfers and looking like a typical american idiot. (though i suppose the latter cant be helped much)

I'm from San Jose and most of the signs are in English. In some areas there are English/Spanish signs but where I live there are a lot of Chinese and other Asians so we have got some signs in oriental languages too.

I'm fucking with you. San Jose, California here.

But speaking seriously I went to San Jose, Costa Rica and some backwater on the Carribbean coast a while back and it was mostly in Spanish. In the airports there should be plenty of English-speakers, especially in the capital. I wouldn't expect many fluent English-speakers outside of San Jose but you're bound to find someone you're able to communicate with.
