This is a shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if anybody here has been to a place like this:

-close to a city
-scenic (hills, plains, bodies of water, and shit)
-within a few hours of both snow AND surf
-warm winds

Yes...It's called Damme, Germany (densly populated country...drive an hour and you reach a city with at least 250k residents) . Lake, hills (dammer berge), plains ~2 hours to North sea , ~3-5 hours to harz (mountains). Go there in Spring for the winds....god i want my funeral there (I'm living about 1 hour away). You can find hundreds of places like damme in germany though...

see pic for dammer berge (the river "hase") sorry for bad quality...lost all my selfmade pics

OP here, that place looks amazing. I hope I'll find myself in a setting like that when I go on a road trip across the US. Can anybody suggest any states? I'm starting in Jersey, ending in Cali

Forgot mah info.

About 1 hour from the Pacific Ocean and about the same to White Pass Ski Resort, lots of hills (because its on the foothills of the Cascades) and Seattle is about an hour and a half drive depending on traffic. A small town though but its growing extremely rapidly.

You could try somewhere near Charlotte, NC. I love that part of the country, and I think it meets your requirements.

LA in the fall. If you don't mind cold wind then anytime from Nov to April in LA.

Melbourne in the summer (their winter).

I have a cousin living down there. While it was pretty nice, the humidity killed me.

Southern California? not so much scenic where people live but you got the Pacific, Sierras, and Mojave pretty nearby

I live in Norway. No surfing or warm winds, but anything else you mentioned is all over the country.

However, if you're a little adventurous, you could try Lebanon. Most of the country is on a huge mountainside facing the Mediterranean Sea, and many of the mountains get snow. Plains are a-plenty as well. As an added bonus, you get a shitload of badass ancient ruines.

And honestly, Lebanon's not that unsafe. It's safer than any large city filled with crime. Either way, as long as you stay in an affluent neighbourhood, Israel will, mysteriously, not bomb you.

Fucking Maryland. They have fucking everything but a desert.

Actually, Arizona.

If you count 6 as "a few".

Although I suppose Tucson would only be about 3-4 hours from Mexican surf.

New Zealand tbh.

I've had an interest in New Zealand for a while. Problem is it would be a big commitment to move down there.

anywhere in the Northeast US. Boston and/or NYC within driving distance of nearly every state, beaches all up in there, great skiing in Vermont, New Hampshire, and upstate New York. although admittedly it's cold as fuck here in the wintertime.

i'm from the Hudson Valley in New York, and my hometown is a rural paradise less than two hours from NYC, 3-4 hours to Connecticut or Jersey beaches, and i'd estimate about 5-6 hours to ski country upstate.

I took a road trip just 2 summers ago. The highlight was Mt. Rainier in Washington, if you don't live near it. It's aptly named, but stunningly beautiful.

Also, Glacier National Park is phenomenal. Make sure you go to Avalanche Lake (pictured).

California has everything you mentioned, but then again it's huge.

I goto Mt. Rainier every summer, its amazing. You can find a raging river and walk a mile up to where it starts. If you ever get a chance to go back be sure to goto Paradise, Washington. Its at the extreme base of Rainier and has a extremely nice hotel with plenty of shit to do.
