Sup /trv/?
I'm about to go on a quick weekend trip to New Orleans. Im leaving memphis by train early saturday morning and leaving New Orleans to come back, sunday night.

Can /trv/ suggest anything to do in New Orleans that is in walking distance or short cab ride from their amtrak train station?
Also, this is my first amtrak train trip, is it nicier then air travel?

wat
Fuck no. For the cost you pay for a train ticket and the time it takes to get there, you could just fly. Maybe you're one of those people that's never driven the route and like to look out the window for the whole time it takes to get there.

Hey OP, you suck at trip planning. Seriously, the time you have left is basically bar hours or seeing a Saints game in the Superdome (if you can get tickets lol).

bourbon street, obviously. go bar hopping and mingle with the people.

Reason i'm taking the train:
The people i'm travelling with absolutley hate to fly, and I hate to drive long distances, the train was kinda a compromise.

Also, I have a penchant for religious artifacts/symbols. Since i'm in New Orleans, if anyone can suggest a good place to find hoodoo, carribean, or african religious shops i'd be grateful.

taking the train over this part of the country is great, after all , the highways are horribly repetetive. However , the station in NO is about a 30min walk from the city centre , and its a pretty rougth area. Id suggest getting onto bourbon street as soon as possible. As far as i see you have several options on how to spend your time. you could see the sights , perhaps get a quick tram out to the cemetaries , or go to the voodoo museum. OR go on the mother of all long night benders , dont sleep , get rat faced and then then stumble back and pass out on the train ;) (and here is the big advantage of trains , they dont care if your intoxicated!)

Neither do some airlines that are taking you out the US. XD
