How do I travel? Anonymous
This will be a little long, and there will be a tl;dr at the end, but if you stay with me, I think you'll be able to help me a lot more.

I'm an English student at a university. I love reading and writing. My plan was to go to graduate school and write, be a professor, etc. I was recently faced with the realization that I cannot write. This crushed my entire five year plan. I decided to give law school a go because everyone always said I would be good at it. I signed up for the LSAT, and I bought the book. I've been reviewing, and so far, I'm running a solid 30%. Not good, at all. So basically, law school isn't something that I really want to do, and it seems I'm wouldn't even be good at it.

Talking with my mom, she encouraged me to do what I want to do. When I told her that I don't even know anymore what I want to do, she told me to figure that out, and then come up with a plan for it.

Well, I think I may have figured it out. I want to travel. I've always loved traveling on family vacations, and my one adult adventure to Spain was the most amazing time of my life. So, my question is this, what job do I need to get that will afford me lots of traveling? I thought that being a a lawyer would be great, because they make lots of money, and you need money to travel, but since that doesn't look like it will work out, what can I do with a degree in English? I need help. My life hinges on this decision of what to do after college.

tl;dr: What sort of job can I get with an English degree that will allow me to travel and experience new things a lot?

Join the military.

Seriously. A friend of mine was in pretty much the same boat. Didn't know what to do with his life, getting a degree in philosophy. He joined the Air Force and now works for The Stars and Stripes (I think, it might be some other military newspaper) and lives in Italy.

Does the OP want to be on the move a lot? Different sights, different cultures? Because if so, English teacher is NOT the way to go. That's just relocaling, not really traveling.

If you have some physical strength and are determined enough, go get a job in the oilfield or diamond drilling business. As long as you don't pick up a drug problem you can walk away with loads of money really fast. Then travel for a few months and go back for more money. Done deal.
