Ok /trv/, which is the best;
Japan, South Korea or Hong Kong?
And which has the nicest people?
>> Koreaboo Anonymous
I've not been to Hong Kong, only Japan and Korea.

Personally I like Korea, it's sort of like Japan, but with less rules, cheaper alcohol, better food, easier girls and shitter cars. I've got a job in Korea starting in about 6 weeks, fuck yeah.
>> Anonymous
All three have their pros and cons. But, all three are definitely worth visiting.
>> Anonymous
japan has the nicest people, but hong kong is pretty close. never been to korea before.

really depends on what you mean by best. personally i like cold weather and japanese cuisine, so japan would be the best imho.

Koreans are unbelievably hard headed. Right now they're staging a series of protests because Japan maybe perhaps might have reasserted a claim on Liancourt Rocks (Dokdo in Korean, Takeshima in Japanese). It's this shitty little island that is only good for fishing and South Korea already controls it. South Koreans are like the British with the Falkland Islands, only the island is more useless and nobody has actually invaded or said anything about invading.
>> Anonymous
>>44232

it's more about their pride. just giving them the island, or giving up on this issue is going make them look weak, or that they're sucking up to the japanese.

unless japan is offering to BUY the island, which they obviously won't, korea isn't going to let it go for nothing.

just like the british and those islands.

just like china and taiwan and tibet.

The Falklands have thousands of people living on them and have no desire to join Argentina

Look who's hard headed even when presented with obvious facts.... Yes they own the islands and fish in the waters around it, and yes it is a shitty little useless island. But wait... did you not catch that? THEY FISH cause they claim the waters AROUND the island and as such its the rights to fishing that they would lose if they lost the island... wow who knew?

>>44234
They only kick and scream whenever they have to collaborate with the Japanese on anything.

I guess that's why thousands are protesting and South Korea recently recalled the Japanese Ambassador. They can't let go of those treasured and legendary fishing grounds!

It's an ego trip and you know it.

It is just a couple of rocks but it has been historically Korea and it expands their waters which allows for fishing like you guys have said. And why shouldn't the Korean's be touchy about it? How would you like a country that occupied you for 30 years, made you use names that weren't yours, and used your people as slaves and comfort women to suddenly take an island that's always been yours?

I've only been to Japan shortly, but I've spent some time in Korea and really like it. Lots to do, everything's cheap, and the people are fun. Not to say the other places aren't but that was my experience in Korea. As far as niceness goes, the older generation of Koreans can give you the stinkeye, but everyone under 30 is very friendly and helpful, although you won't know it unless you talk to them. Japanese are known for being nice, but that can often be a facade they put up. They'll be nice, even if they don't really like you.

Japan has already apologized about the occupation of Korea. Numerous times, in fact. Just get that outta the way.

And they shouldn't be getting touchy about it because they're essentially a couple of useless rocks between Japan and Korea. Korea's going to remove their ambassador because some Japanese middle school text books suddenly started "reclaiming" them? Please. Korea LOOKS for reasons to go bash Japan.

If the countries really care about peace instead of political posturing, then they would find a way to share it or something.
It's post colonial mentality. Give one inch to the former colonizers, and you've apparently given them a mile. Korea has that campaign to change the internationally used name of the Sea of Japan to the East Sea. The United States has a rather large body of water to the south that's named after another country, and no one raises a stink about it here.

Back to the topic, all three of them are very enjoyable to visit and have generally very accommodating people provided you don't act like a douche or discuss politics. They're all rather different, too; there's quite a few things you would see in one that you wouldn't be able to see in the other two, this is especially true for Japan and South Korea.

People of Hong Kong are horrible, and China is getting on par with there. South Korea is just too insignificant and lacking in character to be worth mentioning.

It's great that Japan has apologized, but since it happened 60 years ago there are still those around who remember it and they'll have to die off before the apology is truly accepted. It also doesn't help that Koizumi apologized, then visited a controversial war memorial that makes the Koreans not really accept it.

The debate over the rocks wasn't because of a book, it's because they were determined to be land taken by the Japanese when they occupied Korea and were to be given back. But Japan still claims the rocks as their own and has sent their coast guard into the area.

From what I hear japanese treat foreigners like shit.

Chinese treat their own like shit but foreigners like gods as long as they have cash.

Koreans worship feces. No. Seriously. Look it up. It's good luck to bathe in shit there.

Fixed.

With the exception of very few, you don't hear the Japanese whining to the US about the fucking A bomb 63 yrs ago. How about you do the same and move the fuck on?

HK is awesome coz its international and ur between trad. and hyper modern stuff. For Europeans is it quite cheap. Japan is different in the way that have a completly different culture. I think u should stay I couple o months in HK and a year in Japan, especially in Tokyo.

There aren't that many that aren't boring. I'm pretty sure everyone that visits North Korea is forced to take the same tour and are allowed to take pictures only at specific points. There are a few interesting stories. I like the one where the American comments on how MJ gave Kim Jong Il a basketball as a gift and the North Korean guards/guides start going crazy because this is not a suitable gift from a American head of state.
