>> Not OP
>>9250
Germany has some sort of pub culture, but I don't like it. We Germans view the Irhish Pub as *THE* pub culture, although I think we're quite ignorant about it (as mostly everyone who imports foreign stuff). Actually, the pub culture is somehow divided:
* Biergarten mostly in Bavaria
* Generally olde pubs and restaurants everywhere
Problem is, these two are frequented mostly by people of 40+.
* Lots of cafes in towns with Universities
* All sorts of restaurants, but highjacked by foreign influence (mostly for our own good)
Remember, German cities somewhat small with Berlin as its biggest populated by 3.404.037 people in 2006. Hamburg is next and I would recommend it for every visitor (Hafenstadt, lots of cultural stuff, Green-conservative government ftw.).

I don't care for gay people, so I don't know about Köln.

Are you in a group? Do you have time? Are you staying over a weekend? Use this:
http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/prices/germany/swt.shtml

Do you stay in one dedicated region?
Get to know the offers of the local transport associations. You can use almost any mean of transport within them. Here is a map:
http://kursbuch.bahn.de/hafas/kbview.exe/dn?rt=1&mainframe=IK_verbund
And here is some additional information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_German_transport_associations

Book in advance. That will really help.
You might also want to consider one of the railpasses available for Germany and Europe.

Is there any way for a guy outside EU who speaks poor German to live and work or live and study in Germany for any amount of time?
>> Anonymous
>>9297
Hardly. If you've got huge brains, probably, otherwise it will be really hard to do so legally. As for studying: I know only about the German Academic Foreign Office (Deutscher Akademisches Auslandsdienst / DAAD / http://www.daad.de/de/index.html), but will need to be not too bad at German. But then, its really hard to get into most EU countries if you're not born in a Shengen state (so its even hard for some EU members at the moment since not everyone is subject to the Shengen Treaty).

If you live in Turkey or probably Israel you might be able to participate in the Erasmus program to study here for one or two semester.

>>9296
Depends. Baden-Wurtemberg is also on the bright side and if you're the artsy type, Berlin is good for cheap living space and a supportive culture.

In this case the best option may be to learn yourselfs some useful natural and economic science and make it into an international company, though I don't know if that's even possible there right now.

Still it might be possible for you to go study in Germany, Austria or Britain with some language skills (becomes easier if you've got te money, I guess). Maybe there are already exchange programs for Ex-Yug, development assistance and stuff. Hell, there are even some guys from Africa here, so it has to be possible. You may want to get some information about this from your local university (should be possible even if you're still in school).
>> Anonymous
>>9333some addition on this:

The best chances way to leave any country (even for a while) is by the help of other functional systems of modern society: the economy, sciences, art, sports etc. If you've got any talent or special interest in one of them it might get you out of even fucking North Corea, although only for a while (the DAAD sponsors exchanges here also).

So, the options are:
*Having a shitton of money or a good job at a big company.
*Being good at any science and use exchange programs (works also for teaching personell), sometimes you're good enough to choose to stay somewhere a bit longer.
*etc.

I won't lie to you. Most of the hate will come from the generation of people who are 60+

Basically those who were still young during the war or in the aftermath. There are plenty of people who were refugees from the east (those parts which are now part of Poland) and they still hate them.

Same goes for Turks. I guess the elder people of Germany are still very xenophobic against anything non-white (except Japanese). But it's not that much of a problem in newer generations as it used to be.

You won't have any problems wearing that T-Shirt. Only a few people will even recognise Wilhelm I suppose.
Moreover "Kaiser" is a nickname given to the famous football player Beckenbauer which is used regularly.

>10466
You can compare the relationship of the Poles to the Germans with the Mexicans to the Americans. They come here for work and are best known for stealing cars.

But it just doesn't have the same status as the second one. Because basically it was just another regular war.
Wilhelm's blank queck to the Austrians may not have been thw wisest decision, but he and his Kaiserreich is not deemed as the incarnated evil as the Thrid one is.

>>10513

I agree. My main point is that a big part of Germany starting ww2 was caused by the victorious powers in ww1 being complete asshats. Did Germany start ww1? That would be a question of semantics, up to serious debate and with no definitive answer. Even if they did, forcing them to accept full responsibility for the war, pay exorbitant amounts of money that they obviously didn't have in reparations, and carving away their homeland was a spiteful and excessive move, and the world paid for it in ww2.
>> Anonymous
>>10534
The USA wasn't being an asshat. The British and the French were being the asshats.
>> Anonymous
>>10537

Well, Woodrow Wilson wasn't exactly lobbying for mercy-tempered peace with Germany during the Treaty of Versailles. But yes, it is true that in a strictly material sense, we didn't steal German land or money. Most Americans back then DID view Germany as the sole villain in a war fought between four factions, in which all four were partially at fault.
>> Anonymous
>>10541

I mean, why any German feel guilty or be made responsible for what some of their faggot ancestors did?

>>10472
Good question, and I have the feeling that the answer would be quite complex. One part, of course, is that its a wealthy country and the most populated one of non-Russian Europe.

>>10475
No stigma against soldiers, only among some retarded leftist fags (who unfortunately get 11% at the elections regularly).

>>10498
Well, most Germans somehow consider Austria to be just the same and even refer to them as belonging to Germany from time to time (sometimes only to piss them off).

As for the who started WWI stuff: WillII was a complete moron and should have died at birth, because he totally fucked up with Bismarck's system of cooperation with the British and Russian. But then, everyone was a nationalist fag at this time.
