Sup /trv/,

I really like music and am thinking of heading to Taiwan this summer for the Formoz Festival in Taipei. Upon researching last year's festival, I saw that the three-day passes were NT$3200. I assume this means New Taiwan dollars, which would mean the tickets are horrifyingly inexpensive at about $100 for the weekend. After the kind of costly plane trip (about $1400), I realized that it might actually be doable even with a measly couple of months' worth of planning.

Has anyone here been to Taipei, or Taiwan for that matter? How much can I expect to pay for a decent place to stay (doesn't have to be anywhere fancy, just preferably no shit on the walls), food, and getting around in general? I am a Texas born Mexican, but have no accent. Should I expect to be hated?

LAfag here. People are cool and the food is awesome if you like Chinese food. Don't worry about being a beaner noone will know the difference you're just another foreigner. At least they didn't seem to notice with me. I went for work and stayed here. About Courtyard Marriott level place. I'm sure you could find cheaper.

Best is it's located right next to the night market and a metro station. It's summer time there. Get the shaved ice! It's everywhere.
