I'm with this guy, do NOT risk a seat in the back.
I was on a bus once (not greyhound, but similar poor people bus) where some unbelievably obese elderly black woman was helped to the toilet by her entire family (she couldn't really walk on her own). For some reason they put down a big sheet of plastic (which they had brought with them) on the toilet, maybe so she wouldn't have to touch the "germs" or something.
She shat and pissed and they helped her back to the seat. The journey back down the aisle took about 15 minutes with her resting on chairs (which looked like they were going to break from her weight), pressing her planet-sized ass into innocent people, huffing and puffing, and the black family yelling a lot back and forth.
Unfortunately, they left the plastic sheet, which was soaked in piss and shit and halfway covering the entire inside of the bathroom (floor, etc). They basically tried to stuff it down the toilet, realized that it was way too much plastic for the shitty bus toilet to handle, and left it half stuffed in, but still draped all over the place and dribbled with urine. And, either she broke the door due to her obesity, or it was already broken. Either way, it never closed after that.
So the entire bus was treated to the smell of shit and piss for the rest of the ride, and nobody could even use the bathroom. So we had to use toilets at the various stops along the way. Meanwhile obese black woman and family got off the bus fairly early in the trip.
Bring a lot of dramamine so you can sleep the whole time.
