Went to Espoo (Esbo) three weeks ago to see the lake. as soon as I got off the train I saw this.

I have an hour before the bus that swings by Lake Bodom shows up (I had 5 days in Helsinki, went to Esbo for 1 afternoon, and Tallinn for a day) so I go inside to investigate.

when I get inside, I see yet another indoor mall. staying in down town Helsinki, I have seen quite a few of these. This one, next to the Espoo train station, was notable, aside from the sign, only because it seemed to cater to old ladies instead of teenagers. However, i eventually find the grocery store in question, the KKK Supermarket. and I ask you.....What the Fuck?

ex-finnfag here, been an amerifag for almost a decade. K-stores (K-kaupat) are owned by a company called Kesko. Kinda like K-mart, I guess. I never would've thought of there being anything wrong with a KKK-mart until I moved here... now it's just amusing looking back at it.

so do the different number of Ks indicate the size of the store, because the KKK was pretty big, but most of the K Super Markets that were in Helsinki were pretty small.

Yeah
K-Market=Small store
KK-Market=Medium store
KKK-Market=Large store
KKKK-Market=really large store

Also, only USA has had history with Klu Klux Klan, not the whole world.

Not really, only Americans know about it, and people who have watched an American TV show where they are mentioned.

How the hell I have never noticed that KKK!?I lolled my ass off.

Now when I start to think about finnish stores there is also one company called Lidl, all Lidl stores are from germany and thay are very cheap. Finfags have however they own nickname those stores, Nazi-siwa[siwa is name of other cheap store].

Wow, someone found something interesting in Espoo centrum!

Did not believe this day would come.

K = K-lähikauppa = "nearby" grocery store (small scale)
KK = K-market = "K-mart" (ordinary scale grocery store)
KKK = K-supermarket = supermarket
KKKK = K-citymarket = hypermart if you will

Actually going to Espoo was a nice change of pace. we hiked along Lake Bodom's shoreline for about two miles before cutting east and catching the bus back to the train station. it added a little variation to the trip, because it seems that most of downtown Helsinki consists of shopping malls with H&M stores, and after the third one i got a little sick of them. I mean, I am American, so it is not like I could really afford to buy a bunch of stuff what with the Euro trading for like $1.50. Other than that it is a really pretty city. I liked pretty much everything I saw. Plus I can wave the fact that I have been to Lake Bodom over all my metalhead friends.
