Go to chinese bakeries like Fay Da or Taipan bakery. If you're into dumplings at all, go to Joe's Shanghai on Pell St. where you can get the most delicious soup dumplings for 5 dollars. For pan fried dumplings, go to a small place on Mosco St. They sell them 5 for a dollar. The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory is also good to try some new flavors. You could also get some bubble tea from any of the tea houses. I would suggest going to Ten Ren, but it's more expensive than some of the other places. It's also avaliable at the bakeries too, but they're usually a bit hectic.
Nothing much to do in Chinatown besides eat and buy cheap lookalikes on the street. There are some karaoke bars, but I wouldn't suggest going there.
