So I'd like to go to China. I've been studying Mandarin for a couple years now, both in the classroom and on my own time (dramas, listening- not much practice lately).Any suggestions of a good time to go, specifically for airfare?
Im studying in south china, Guangzhou. Now its the ideal time to come here. Weather is just perfect and not much rains. But at this time more northern theres snowstorms and shitstorms. The chinese new year season is also over so people have returned to their work. Id suggest you go to shanghai or taiwan or somewhere in northwest. Guangzhou is great too if you like warm.

Skip going to mainland China until after the Olympics are over unless you like to pay exorbitant prices.
check HK
HK is fucking amazing and greatest city in the world(my opinion tho). But... your mandarin will be next to useless there.
>>6421Definitely after the Olympics. Also, don't go in the summer if you want to step off the train and have it feel like a hair dryer directly in your face.
>>6448it's alright, Hk is mostly bilingual anyway, all the signs are in english and chinese.Do go to HK, amazing city, somewhat overshadowed by it's business image.
