>>34623 i feel that i know enough french to get by for the length of my visit, so that shouldn't be a problem. montreal will be the main focus of my trip, as i'm also planning on going to school there starting in january. i'm turning 21 after the trip, so i'll definitely be spending a good deal of time in bars (which brings me to another wuestion: are there open bottle laws in toronto, montreal, and quebec city? can i walk down the street with a beer in my hand?)
also, are there any specific places to check out? are there any areas that i should skip past? (for example, i'd recommend the golden gate bridge and coit tower in san francisco, but lombard street and chinatown aren't too exciting).
