Hey /trv/

I'm that lucky white kid who graduates high school and gets 10 days in Europe on his parents dime, My plan was Italy then take a train up to Switzerland, bu8t if you have anywhere thats not a tourist hell hole, I'd love to hear it. I'm in good shape and enjoy hiking, which is why i was considering Switzerland

English is your only language, I'm guessing?

I would first find places where English is widely spoken. This will rule out places like Slovakia, but the Netherlands will be fine, for example. Then find what you'd like to do in those places. Then find out how to do it.

Just going "lol train from Italy to Switzaaarland" won't work well. How the hell are you going to get to Italy and tell the Italian-speaking ticket salesperson you want a ticket to Switzerland (100% guarantee Italians do not call Switzerland "Switzerland"), and what are you going to do for the remainder of your 10 days besides for going "lol there's a hill " and "lol I'm on a train"?

You should visit Switzerland. It's really beautiful, especially in the summer. I would suggest taking a train up to Como and then head into Switzerland and visit Lugano, Interlaken, Bern, and Geneva if you can. Lugano is in the Italian part of Switz., Interlaken and Bern in the German, and Geneva in the French (so it's like 3 for the price of 1).

Svizzera is Italian for Switzerland but I doubt you'd really need to know. Most Italians and Swiss speak English well enough for basic communication.

why train into switzerland when you can fucking ski into it?

think about it.

It's a tourist hole everywhere there's tourist facilities so if you're looking for beautiful places without a lot of tourists you risk to be unable to find somebody who speek english

It also depends to your level of hiking

You should use google and read some guidebook

You should take a look to the following places :
- the Ticino (German : Tessin / French : Tessin)
- the Valais (German : Wallis / French : Valais)
