Hey /trv/

I've been thinking about moving abroad for a while now, and settled on Greece, since every time I've been there I've loved it.

Anyone else here done similar? How was it and what is the attitude towards people moving to the country. Any Greek natives here have anything to say?

I don't care, just please, do not move to Greek if you are not to learn Greek language, please. English is so ugly.

English is ugly? No, German is ugly, direct your xenophobic hatred elsewhere, thank you.

Germanic languages are all ugly. Ugliest being probably Dutch. English is kinda less ugly because of something like 30% words of French origin in it.

Greekfag here...
english might be a problem since not many ppl in rural areas speak them...
An exception is of course Crete where its pretty much a second language along with german...
As for the big cities Athens(speaking from personal experience) has quite an english speaking community in certain areas such as Glifada where most english speaking ppl gather(lost of pubs, australian bars etc)
also most ppl under thirty pretty much speak english tho many of em badly
anyway good luck and have fun in our sunny country :)

:(

Well I will be learning Greek anyway, because I think it's pretty futile not to learn the language when moving to a foreign country if you want to do well there.

Greek fag here again..well learning greek could pose quite a task for an english speaking person)as like in the germanic family languages(sociology major with linguistics fuck yeah) is quite complex especialy when it comes to syntax and conjugation;apart from tha fact that nouns need to be conjugated(8 conjugations 4 fp/4 plural. As for the verb cojugation it has 7 tenses. The tip of the ice berg is spelling where multiple sets of vowels have the same sound (e.g. ae can be expressed in writing with ?,?? or e can be ?,?,??) along with other shity wierd thing like f in some words can be instead of ? be replaced with a ?...go figure...anyway the best of luck to you mate :)

wasn't greece at war with italy?
>> Anonymous
>>13838
No actually Italy was in war with the Allies and therefore Greece too..
>> Anonymous
Yup Italy invaded Greece via Albania (italian protectorate at the time) but we repeled them back to Albania...that was ofc before the Nazis got involved...they pounded us pretty hard along with the rest of Europe :P...anywayz ppl in greece dont keep any hard feelings especialy to the Italian ppl as during the war there was a pact with the commies guerillas of greece and the partizan resistance in italy...they were somethin like our brothers and shit...also part of greece used to be under venicial and later italian influence up till the end of the 19th century, with customs and local dialect directly influenced.Finaly Italians are a big part of the tourist industry especialy to the western islands like Corfu, Ithaka and Paxi that are like 1-2 hours away from the Italian mainland...

I suggest you either stop getting butthurt over comments on 4chan, or learn to speak in English properly if you're going to do so.

Greek attitude toward non-Greeks moving to Greece is good. Xenophiles. If you attempt to learn the language, they'll adore you. I lived there 2 years and loved every second. I'm not native, but I am 1.5 generation (mom born there). Teaching English for money in Greece beats waiting tables.

Teaching english in Greece is quite profitable its about 10-30 euros per session...black monies/tax free always...
