When the chandelier falls, rather than swinging down into the stage it just falls straight down onto "the audience" (i.e. You.) Instead of choking him out at the climax, Phanty summons a torture chamber out of the ground around Raoul, etc.
Anyway, yeah, it's a Reader's Digest show (which is why it's given it's called PHANTOM Vegas or something instead of The Phantom of the Opera) but whether it's good or bad is up to the individual, ALW did oversee it all himself, and while it's a shame the Christine from opening left, the main Carlotta that I saw was awesome. Both main and understudy Phantoms are okay, almost have difficulty hitting some notes, so I thought they wouldn't last.
Anyway, go see it. Even if you don't like the reduced running time, the extra special effects make it cool.
