So... Airline Prices...

How come when I try to buy an economy/business/first class/whatever ticket, it's ALWAYS more expensive to get a single one than a return? I don't understand this at all. If you get a return ticket, you're using and wasting their resources more than just using it once. Shouldn't a return ticket be more expensive than a single one?

What's the reasoning behind this /trv/?
Pic related, God damn they almost double the price for a single first class instead of a return.

Shit's definitely not like that in America. I have no clue, that's pretty gay.

one way is they know your not coming back most likely moving somewhere so why would you fly any time soon. demand is also lower for one-way. and you guarantee them money when you pay for your trip back up front at the same time you buy the ticket there

You mean it's more expensive to buy 2 one way tickets the it is to buy a return ticket(i.e one ticket there, one ticket back).

It has more to do with them planning how many airplanes there gonna need to what location on what day and what type.

No I don't. I mean that on their website, if you want to go somewhere and NOT come back, it's more expensive to buy a single ticket. One-way, not coming back, not 2 single tickets, one single ticket.

its more business for them and they turn a profit so its kind o like a buy 2 get the second half off kind of thing.

So buy a return ticket, use it, and sell the unused return part on craigslist.

Price discrimination. Microeconomics ftw.

I noticed this when I flew to America (I'm a britfag) and couldn't understand it either.

I wondered if it was some method of extorting more cash out of people who are migrating - since people choosing to go live in another country would obviously be far more willing to pay higher prices than someone looking for a couple weeks of tourism.
