From hiroshima (enjoy your okonomiyaki first), take a day trip to Miyajima, the large red tori and shrine in the water.

Along your way, you have the option to visit the island of Shikoku (via Okayama) for its Matsuyama hot springs.

Kobe is not far from osaka, and has lovely beef around Sannomiya station. It also features a Chinatown.

Osaka is cheap and delicious. Visit the Dotonburi and its famous Glico man and Kuidaore.

If you like, head down to Wakayama and ride its strawberry train (http://www.metaefficient.com/trains/highly-efficient-kid-friendly-trains.html#more-996). Then go along the oceanside of the Kii Peninsula.

In Nagoya, home of Toyota, go visit their museum. if you enjoy automobiles and drifuto.

If you enjoy hot springs, the Izu Peninsula is full of them. accessiable by Izukyu Railways, continuing off JR East's Ito line.

Yokohama and Tokyo are a short train ride away.

I recommend Furano, Hokkaido. Especially if you're not good with the hot and humid weather most of Japan has during the summer.

Hey whats up, I'm going in May. I'm gonna hit Tokyo Tower for sure, and Harajuku (or was it Shinjuku?) on Sunday afternoon to take pics by the bridge, also gonna head to the Ghibli if I can. Probably take pics in front of the Don Quixote too. Gonna try and spend 5 days in Kyoto and then head over to Osaka also. 12 day.
