Wow. If not for the hiragana on the sign, I could have easily mistaken that for some village in Russia - single track, rusty transformer (is it?) in the background... okay, maybe the wood boards are a little too clean.
Other vivid memories from Russian trains, now that I'm at it: - sealed windows in summer (with a stamp "closed for winter" - I'm not kidding) - cockroaches (especially on overnight trips) - fscking smokers! - freezing cold electrical trains with wooden seats in the morning... - bubble gum stuck everywhere it can possibly stick
