ITT we discuss cities everyone should visit at least once in their life (for one reason or another).

I submit New York. It's history speaks for itself and there's plenty to do and see.

You can hit authentic Indian, Korean, Thai, Mexican, Nepali, Ecuadorian, and Irish foods & stores in one afternoon by following the 7 train from Woodside to Jackson Heights.
There's so much authentic culture to be had in Brooklyn & Queens.
Manhattan's for the hipsters and well to do. Though you can't begrudge the amazing Museum Mile.

Munich.
Beautiful City, lots of sightseeings and of course the Oktoberfest. Unlike most of the German larger cities, Munich is still very traditional in some places. There are several Bavarian festivals throughout the year, the Oktoberfest is just one of them.
Also the Alpes are just 50km to the south.
In summer you can go swimming in one of the nearby lakes, like Lake Starnberg or Chiemsee.

St.Petersburg.

Such beautiful churches and architecture, and a lot of history. A painfully obvious class divide, too. You can see the destitute and homeless struggling to get by while mobsters and oligrachs dine cheerfully on crappy imported crayfish and caviar behind half-tinted restaurant windows. Soldiers sweeping the streets (with actual brooms). Amazing markets.

Not exactly nice, but it's a real experience.

And don't forget the German Museum of Masterpieces of Science and Technology, it's made of win, submarines, planes, copters, trains, Faraday cages and other things that make you scream SCIENCE!

For the the city, i submit Rome. We've been here from 753 B.C., i suppose that in a span of almost 2800 years of history we've done something you may find interesting.
