Pre/Post nuclear war 'travel' Anonymous
'sup /trv/?
I've been watching alot of nuclear war films recently (the day after, threads, the war game, etc...). I used to read alot of books about nuclear war when I was younger aswell...
SO, I was thinking about regions of the world that would remain reasonably unaffected (as much as can be) so I made this map... explanation will follow...

Red areas: Write offs... these are the areas that will suffer direct hits from nuclear weapons. Even if an area isn't affected by any of the initial blasts it will still suffer the fallout of said blasts. Agriculture will be nigh on impossible and water sources will be contaminated. YOU CANNOT GUARANTEE SURVIVAL HERE EVEN AFTER 2 WEEKS IN A FALLOUT SHELTER.

Orange areas: Will be hit by the environmental effects of the blasts but not necessarily the blasts themselves (not sure about canada). These areas will also be inundated with columns of the walking wounded and refugees. There will be food shortages, radiation and any country with half a brain will attempt to close off its borders since it'll have a hard enough time maintaining order and feeding the population without having to deal with refugees. In the case of the middle east, the area will be heavily militarised in order to secure the oil fields. This will be a relatively conventional warzone. YOU CANNOT GUARANTEE ANY REFUGE IN THESE AREAS EVEN IF YOU LIVE THERE!

Yellow areas: These areas might be OK although they will either refuse entry to refugees or are generally unable to feed themselves at the moment (I'm looking at you sub saharan Africa). They are hard to reach but once there you stand an OK chance of some shelter. MEDIUM CHANCE OF RELATIVE SAFETY!

Australia and New Zealand: I should immagine they wouldn't be hit by any warheads since they themselves don't have any... The citizens of these countries will be relatively OK but the countries will be completely sealed off and are hard enough to get to as it is... IF YOU CAN GET IN YOU SHOULD BE OK!

Purple: You cannot live in these areas. THEY ARE DESERTS!
>> Anonymous
Blue: I don't know, these places might be OK...

In conclusion: Try and get to South America, sub-saharan Africa or ideally, Australia or New Zealand... However, if you don't get there before the bombs drop you best be coming from a region that wasn't too badly hit and have access to a yacht and supplies to sail there in... I MAY HAVE JUST SAVED YOUR LIVES ANON!! Of course, this pre-supposes a cold war style nuclear war between East and West...

Unfortunately, since I live here (pic related) I won't make it...

Care to explain how hundreds of millions of people manage to survive in these purple regions on a day to day basis?

I'm not sure how many people live in the sahara (although I did draw it too big so that it covers the guineas and co) or the Antarctic...
