So I plan on moving from Louisiana to California to live in a house with a few people. We're trying to decide the house now, but have no idea on house much it would be to rent out a house where.
In the cities Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose, which would be the cheapest and have the most available public transportation and schools?
Thank you in advance, i've never moved cross country before am I am quite excited about the idea.

Where you go will be damned expensive compared to what you're used to. If you're renting, for example, prepare for at least $1 per sq. ft per month.

San Jose is probably the best of the three to live in, but you could think about living near one of the others and commuting. It has a better standard of living but less to do, as you'd expect.

If you don't want to live near a major city, on the other hand, there are some nice smaller towns that could give you a break on cost of living.

currently living in ventura, a little north of LA. were i you, i would try to go to san jose, its the perfect distance from the shitstorm that is california. hell, if i were you, i wouldnt even be coming here. but know a few things; house prices are outrageous everywhere, san jose just a little less so. i'm pretty sure mexicans are everywhere by now in the southern half, and when i say everywhere, i MEAN EVERYWHERE. be prepared for that. despite the name, i think san jose should be safe from them. for the love of god, DO NOT GO TO LA. i dont care who you are, dont do it. san francisco has a lot of mixed reviews, but if you're coming from louisiana, i dont think you'll like the big city atmosphere. i dont know anything about transportation, but what do you mean by schools? high schools? colleges?

tl;dr san jose

Colleges, for a few people.

You could try Milpitas, it's just north of San Jose and is less expensive.. Because the dump smell is everywhere.

I grew up in and around the wine country in California, about an hour or so north of SF. It's a nice area you might want to consider. Santa Rosa is a small city with good schools in and near it.

I'd rule our San Fran as it's too fucking expensive. Some areas of L.A are perfectly fine places to live and there's a shit ton of schools in Los Angeles, I'd go there

Depends really on what you're looking for. N. CA is more laid back, artsy, etc. So. CA has.....Mexico and Hollywood and pollution.
Move away from the coast and it gets kinda rednecky.
My personal suggestion, though Ive never been to San Jose, is to head north. Public Transportation has always been great for me up there. Good schools are plentiful all over the state and tuition is DIRT FUCKING CHEAP after you've established residency (live there for a year). Wish I had finished college out there before moving to Jersey where things are asspensive.
