Camping in Kanto, Japan Anonymous
Hi /trv/,
I asked this in /jp/ already, but didn't get much more than some amusing wasp pictures. I know it's a fairly Japan-centric question, but if anyone can help, I'd be greatly appreciative.

I'm looking for a good place around Kanto to pitch a tent. My girlfriend and I went to a campsite around Okutama last time, which was nice, but I'd like to strike out on my own and find a nice spot next to a river where I can enjoy nature alone.

Any suggestions?

Can't help with your query, but that pic changed my desire to go to Japan. I'm definitely not going there to live and do my normal work, but to backpack around. That's beautiful man.

I highly recommend travelling around countryside Japan in spring and autumn. It's so beautiful. If you ever come in Summer, then the gruelling but rewarding Fuji climb is a must.

(Photo from last year's climb. Sunrise from the top of Fuji is spectacular.)

>Kanto
Ugh I hate Kanto so much, so many annoying pidgeons and rats everwhere.

Best camping I had in Japan was in Hokkaido.
It was really great, especially the week I spent walking around the Toya lake.
And you can fish if you like that although I don't know if you are allowed to... I caught a few fishes there.

Then start at level 5 like everybody.
And take a lot of water and food.

When I was in Japan, I bought a pastry for breakfast and decided to eat it in the park down the street from my hotel. Cue a SWARM of pigeons. One of the little fuckers actually hopped up on my hand and started eating my food. No fear in any of them.

I think what the real question here is:

"is your girlfriend Japanese?".
