Is Japan a good place to live/visit? or is it country full of racist bastards like I hear?
>> Anonymous
try to actually learn some japanese before even visiting or you are going to feel like you are in mexico oh wait you still won't know what the fuck to say

ITT faggots who know nothing, except>>229, who is correct in saying that Japanese will improve your time here considerably. Otherwise, enjoying spending time with the faggots who all but live in The HUB.
I've been here since January last year. Tokyo is a pretty cool to live.

What kind of a visit? Normal tourism or "traveller culture" visit?

That place looks pretty nice.

May I ask, what made you go live over there?

There's a few blogs who talked about it; AFAIK no, US usually isn't allowed except for some special-event times, like on anniversary years.

Yeah, if you go to Bumfuck, Hokkaido or something. No city that has regular tourist trade has anything like that.

Japan is a fine place to travel to. The Japanese are unfailingly polite even if they are racist bastards. Living there...not so much. Short term (as a teacher or something) would be okay but you'll never get ahead long term.

Obviously knowing the native tongue will help you on any trip but even in Japan it really isn't necessary. A lot of people say that Japan is a ridiculously expensive place, well it can be, but if you know where to look you can live for months with like 1k€. Just eat at sushi fast food places and preferably before evening because that's when things get more expensive and sleep in internet cafes.

/trv/, moar like /jpn/ amirite.

Live? Meh, expensive in most places. Visit/Study in, shit yes. If you're a party person Tokyo and Osaka basically never stop (except the trains, but who cares, get a sofa at a net cafe for 12 bucks a night.)

Racism? Meh odd cases, but more in jobs and things like that. Usually you're the 'token' odd guy out but that's not really a bad thing.

Try western tokyo. I was turned down twice on an apartment rent because I was 'gaijin' around Machida and Akiruno (Or was it akishima?). good advice: call the landlords and ask if gaijins are allowed first just in case.

Great place to visit, it reminded me a lot of South Korea. Almost everything is ridiculously expensive. Living temporarily for a gig/temp job is hard enough

I have question: I read that there are actually 7 Elevens in Japan, but do they have Slurpees?

I live in Toyama Prefecture. There is too much snow. Living in Japan is fine, but living in Toyama is becoming... vexatious.

no.

lots of japanese men chatted to me in english. I'm mid 20's, Australian and female though ;)

I didn't have any trouble there at all.

anyone who goes to japan with anime vision of it in there eyes will be dissapointed, like what was previously said they are polite, but in business they care far to fucking much about your faimaly than skill. i can be wrong but im not that far off. and wasnt it a bit ago that a un inspecter went there and just a bit off the nationaly planed tour they had there were many shops that force a japaniese only rule?

i would be a nice place to visit but unless you want to know what it feals like to be a minority in a southern state, i wouldent live there

When I went last month, people didn't seem racist at all. I was born in Taiwan (moved here when I was really little). A sailor in Beppu onsen was telling me how friendly Japan is with Taiwan.
