Hey I'm heading out to LA from the 11th to the 19th of July. I need some fun stuff to do in LA (preferably free) any suggestions?

Free meth? I need to find you.

I'm about an hour away from LA, and the smog just gets thicker the closer you get.

Free lung afflictions sound fun?

You can always take up the local pastime of CHOKING DOWN BOSTON'S DICK.

Where are you coming from? If you aren't from a city with a large amount of ethnic subtowns, maybe try go around Chinatown /Thai Town/ etc. for awhile? The food's great if you know where to go.

Well, if OP is from Phoenix or something, whatever he had probably wouldn't compare with LA's chinatown. He didn't give us much information.

This.

Or the overlook/stop up on Mulholland Dr. at night if you want a haunting, ethereal view of the town.

LA native here (south bay).

Fun? Free? How about the BEACH???

I go to RAT beach which is just south of Torrance (Right After Torrance). The parking during the week is $2, $5 on the weekend. I bring a boombox, chairs, sandwiches, and ice cold beers. I use cozies for the beers to keep it low-key (alcohol is not allowed on the beach). You have to walk a ways, which keeps families and kids away. This allows women to take their tops off and for me to smoke my joint in peace. I love it.

Getty museum is also cool and free. And Venice is pretty fun (watch out for thieves).

But trust me, once you spend one day oggeling young girls in bikinis and splashing around in the Pacific Ocean, you'll wanna go every day.

Complete agreement on the neighborhood. However, I've always felt that Tommy's was kind of a safety zone in the middle of all that utter shit. I've been there at all hours of the day and night including may times at three in the morning and never felt like I was in any danger whatsoever.

For a nice tranquil afternoon I suggest wandering into and around Griffith Park. Check out the train graveyard, the LA Zoo or...if you feel adventurous and up for a hike, try the old, abandoned zoo ruins.

Like that one level out of fucking Manhunt. It'll trip you out.
