15349 here What are you guys' favorite ways of getting out of stations/through the ticket gates? At larger stations it's easy to walk through the gate behind a jap and hold your bag/backpack between you so it doesn't trip the gate, but at smaller stations it's hard to pull off. However smaller stations have good sides too, usually they're not fenced too much and you can just jump off the platform and walk away.
My favorites: -JR Akihabara, not the electric town exit but the other one: pressed the 'call attendant' button on the ticket vending machine, attendant came over from inside to ask what's the problem and while she was away (she was alone) from the desk I just passed through the double glass doors. -Any station: just walk up to the gate attendant's desk, smile, give him your hand for a shake which will confuse him and trip his 'zomg must act as a westerner' reflexes, then when he/she grabs your hand say 'shacho kondo gomenne' and pass through, leaves them laughing every time. -Approach the gate booth while the attendant is away for a few secs (on a phone or whatever), rotate yourself so as to look like you came from inside and say that you got lost/ask if this is some random station etc, then when they answer say thanks, turn around and go inside.
