Going to New York Anonymous
I will be going to New York City next week. Here are a few questions for you that might seem silly.

Prepaid Card: I need a cellphone prepaid card to communicate with my team. What provider do I pick, which is the cheapest?

Preservatives: Where do I buy Condoms? In a supermarket as in Europe or elsewhere?

Television: Which networks show Stargate Atlantis/The Simpsons and when? Where can I find out?

Sales Tax: I have to add taxes to purchases but how much for which items? I found a new york legislature site that stated something like 8,something % but do I further add VAT or other taxes and why are they not included in the price?

Byes

prepaid card: i'm sure you have an unlocked phone, i'd pick at&t

condoms: duane reade pharmacy (they are everywhere)

tv: don't watch tv. tvguide.com
simpsons is on fox (channel 5) at 19:00 i think

taxes: no taxes on clothes, don't worry about it

Thanks for your responses

Yeah It is an unlocked GSM Tri-Band phone. AT&T it shall be then.
I do not plan to watch much TV but I am following my shows here on the net and while I am there, torrenting is out so I might as well watch them when they are on.

Nothing on clothes? That sounds convenient.

Again, thanks for the help

fyi, eating out is 15% tip (gratuity) *minimum* anyplace where someone comes and serves you food. 20% is the norm, 25% if you like the service.

reason is because waiters / waitresses get paid solely on the gratuity people leave them here.

sucks. for every-day food, stick to places where you stand on a line and order.

what part of the city are you staying?

I will be staying in Midtown Manhattan. It is always the little things that these travel guides dont tell you about ;)

Already read up a bit about tips, it is much easier to understand than giving prices without taxes in a store

Ok depends, are you a eurofag?

Ok the basics are right, phone service, depends, if whoever your communicating with the most has at&t then you could get a prepaid plan, which is a dollar a day and ultimated minutes to at&t users. I used to have one of those.

Theres stores everywhere in NYC, youll find condoms everywhere.

Ive been there 3 times, but i live in California. Im not sure about the sales tax.

AT&T has slightly more national coverage, but T-Mobile is cheaper.

I'd go with T-Mobile
