So I was planning on going to Vietnam in 5 or six months, whenever I get enough money, and wanted to know what was good for Americans to do. I know somebody who traveled here for work and she said she would show me around. But I want to know the good things to spend my money on when shes not around.

Underage sex is not as available as in Thailand but still quite easily available. Also you're less likely to get busted when you get back home.

I'd like to work as normal folk do in vietnam for a day

If your an Amerifag, the Viets will love you.

Dunno why, this is what this yuppie dude in a bar told me, so idk. They are not asshurt about the war, but instead they like you exactly because you were their enemy back in the day.

Everything is cheap there because of the currency. Go visit some historical sites and eat delicious viet food for close to nothing for expense.

You could prolly retire there with whats in your wallet right now, and the people are friendly and laid back, if the viets I've met are any indicator.

Wat? You'd think north vietnamese would be pretty missed that we killed something like 1/3 to 1/2 of their total population.

Im told average people are nice, but many in hospitality tourism are just out to rip you off. Also if anything like thailand it will be pretty easy to get sex and the women will often be trying make you fall in love so you will take them back home, your just a meal ticket for her and her family. Had a friend marry a thai girl, she dumped his ass soon after gettin to australia and is now working as a hooker to support her family back home.

wtf is wrong with /trv/, is sex the only reason why you go to southeast asia ?

and I know a guy who married a girl that he met on a trip to Thailand and they are still together, have 4 kids and get along together better than any other couple I know.

each situation is different, each girl is different. Although what you said is true in many cases, its not true in all cases.

>>71766

yeah true it can work out but you would need to be a good judge of character. In most cases its a false relationship the girl is faking it and the guy falls for it...though thats not to something cant develop out of it. Had a friend who married a girl to get her into the country (both knew it was a sham, he was gettin payed to do it) they ended up staying together and seem pretty happy now.

The Asian whores are still using them for their money. You two and those guys are just too stupid to see it.

one of my best friends is a thai guy. he's married to a british women. does that count?

speaking of marrying south east asians. I reckon in some respects it benefits the westerner. you see quite a few in Thailand, who marry a local and then set up with a bar or guest house. if you love thailand, then marrying is about the only way you can stay permanantly.

Yes, but all property in Thailand has to be at least owned 51% by a Thai person. Not the best property investment option.
>> Anonymous
>>71886
it's not about that, it's about living in thailand and chilling with someone who loves you.

do you eye up potential spouses by considering their worth as an "investment option"?

I don't believe in marriage, so I really can't answer your question.

Just be weary of the language. I used to have a vietnamese friend and I would hang out at his apartment and I would be forced to listen to him speak with his girlfriend who didn't speak any english. I swear to god that is the worst fucking sounding language in they entire fucking world. It's like listening to cats have sex.

Im also going on a 3 weeks trip to vietnam this January and I was considering traveling with the "Easy-riders Vietnam". Its a group that taxi you around on motorbikes and you get to see everything much more in detail than a tourist tour.

My Vietnamese friend says it's a shithole you'd best stay the fuck away from. But maybe he's just got some sour grapes about why he left. My other vietnamese friend is more forgiving and plans to go back for holiday when the opportunity comes up.

They like us because we bravely fought uncle ho and his reign of terror and if it wasn't for the dirty hippie they would not have had to deal with him.

Plus we kept him out of half the country for 20 years, that saved about 100,000,000 lives

South-East Asians are different from the Chinese and Korean ones. They're more easygoing and more likely to forgive and forget whatever happened in the past.

Some cab drivers rig their meter thing so that it charges you more than usual. Although I guess it's still cheaper than cab fare in your country.
>> Anonymous
>>72355
I dunno how much it is on average though
>> Anonymous
>>72355

That happens whenever a white person enters a cab in a poor country.

In reality the difference between the fair price and the price he charges you means nothing to you, but if you want to be a dick agree on a price beforehand

Never thought about traveling to anywhere other than Japan ('merican here), but after being over here for about a year and a half, I'm starting to get the travel bug. Maybe I'll hit up Vietnam sometime. How rough is wrapping your head around the language and culture?
>> Anonymous
>>72368
It's not being a dick; it's covering your ass. Even in some developing nations, a quick cab ride that usually costs $5 can be turned into $35 if the price isn't agreed upon beforehand.
