hey /trv/ i've got some Heathrow related questions.

so i'm flying in from Atlanta on May 22 and i've got someone coming to meet me at the airport and ride with me on a train back to Portsmouth. so basically XXX questions:

1. Should i expect the guy to meet me in one of the terminals or more like, baggage claim are?

2. what should i expect from heathrow customs? as this is my first international flight, i'm really lacking in information here.

3.lastly, should i be worried about Heathrow losing some odd couple thousand bits of luggage? i'm staying for the summer, got an internship and kinda need my shit.

picture unrelated, but i enjoy it none the less.

1. I can't remember where you meet people at Heathrow but if Stansted is anything to go by you pick up your luggage and then go through another door to meet everyone.

2. Depends on what you bring. I assume you only have a US passport and won't be able to join the European Union lines. EU members don't have to declare anything when going inside EU countries. If you have a British passport (or any EU one for that matter) it will be quick. If you have nothing to declare then you can just walk through also. It's just a matter of waiting in line with your passport, showing them it, then getting your luggage.

3. Depends on who your airline is. British Airways are known for losing luggage more than anyone else. I've never lost any luggage through London's terminals though.

I was at Heathrow a long time ago and as far as leaving the airport it was very streamlined. I went with a group on united airlines and no one had any problems with luggage, there were about 20 of us. I don't remember much else. sorry.
