1) Carry proper documentation (such as photo IDs and plane tickets)
2) Carry only ONE bag onto the plane
3) Buy your drinks after you pass security, not before
4) Take a dose of decongestants before you land (and/or fly, depending on the length of the flight, you may wind up with more than one dose). I recommend pseudoephedrine; phenyleprine ain't worth crap. (Ask for pseudoephedrine over the counter and be prepared to write down your name and address. Some idiots slipped an anti-drug provision into the Homeland Security legislation, while that provision shoulda been a law itself, not an anti-terrorist-bill tack-on.)

The decongestant would help with easing "airplane ear" due to air pressure changes.
5) Read the flight safety manual in front of you after boarding.
6) Go pee before you fly. There is a loo on board, but it's not always accessible during the flight (seat belt light may be on; food cart may be in the way)
7) Flying is safe in America and in rich countries. I'm not so sure about poor countries.

Watch others around you if they aren't nervous then things are ok - I base this on several flights on VERY small aircraft when hitting turbulence. If the other people didn't put down their newspapers then it must be normal

The 4chan pages probably go best if their initials match their names... but /n/ used to be "news", and some racists happened to troll, and so it got kicked off 4chan and onto some other imageboard. I dunno why TRANSPORTATION, though. Why isn't it /t/ or /trn/?
