Good areas to move Anonymous
So i just moved to Toronto illegally recently (passport from america but no work permit). Seems fair enough outside the odd amounts of bagged milk and constant use of "eh". So far i've survived a month without dying doing under the table jobs. but now my lease is up and i'm outta work again. Where are some good regions to live? most ads seem to point towards Scarborough. hows the area?

Toronto is a great city; however, keep in mind during the winter months you basically have to make due with the all the underground shops or put on long underwear just for normally grocery store shopping type activities.

so far i've heard of the harsh weather. Its kinda funny now because right now it feel like a fuckin heat wave. I'm already assuming the worse come october.

Scarborough is alright, if you're busing to get around, just try to be close to a station I guess for wherever else you want to move.

I live on the outskirts towards markham, lots of asians here. So you can expect a T and T supermarket in the midst of it all... The weather has been rainy and then sunny on and off over here too.

and it depends where in scarborough I guess... when I moved here my friends kept sending me emails "Don't go !! you gonna get shot!!" but that's more of a jane and finch thing I guess... ironically two of them were from jane and finch.

yeah. im not really happy about it after seeing where it is on the map. i currently stay in the slums around Lansdowne station, so getting down town is fairly easy. Scarborough seems like a bitch and a half though.

Also what type of under the table jobs have you guys tried or do you suggest? so far i've gotten some pretty creepy ones off of craigslist. Generally ending in them wanted me to whore myself out.

Scarborough is ghetto as fuck, don't move there. The entire Toronto and surrounding area is expensive. I suggest checking out Waterloo Region. It's a university city of just over 500'000, cheap housing (and expensive), about 45 minutes from Toronto. Check it out faggot.

Failing that, the London area is okay.

>The entire Toronto and surrounding area is expensive

Compared to where i lived in the states, yeah. But i think the amount of money to be made here kinda makes up for it. I hustled $700 in two weeks being a fuckin dish washer. The hell is up with that shit. Shame thats all over.

I'm getting around using the TTC, so that may be an issue. Also i only have till the end of the month to find a new place so......

It's Canada. Some people would have you believe that it's like the 51st state. Not so.

considering the insanely good economy here, i would hardly compare it to the states. For fuck sakes the minimum wage is bloody $8.50. It doesnt even break $6.25 where i'm from

As everyone else said, really depends where you're looking for. I live both on the Danforth and up in the suburbs (Thornhill), and each have their perks. Personally though, I'd say stay in the city, maybe around Danforth and Pape area. Fucking incredible food and people, but parts can be pricey. Then again, I live in a rather cheap main-floor apartment just off of the street so there's always options.

As far as I can tell, the only perks of living in Thornhill is being close to lots of Korean restaurants.

I live in scarborough, walking distance from Kennedy station... nice neighbourhood... never had any issues for the past 17 years...

Enjoy your stay.
