Bulgaria is one of those European countries that after the fall of communism, just sorta turned into a normal shitty 3rd world country. It didn't do a 180 like Czech Republic or Poland, and it wasn't part of the Soviet Union so it's less industrialized and has a lower human capital (That means the general population is dumber and less productive, less potential to prosper).

But if pseudo-third world countries are your thing, go for it.

it is nevertheless a good place for tourism because of its architectural (mostly from the ottoman empire) and natural treasures.

Actually, at one point Bulgaria wanted to join the Soviet Union, but the Russians decided the bad rep wasn't worth it for shitty Bulgaria. This was truly heartbreaking for Bulgaria, and they never really recovered. Even raping the Turkish minority didn't feel good anymore. Bulgaria understood - this was love.

Bulgaria thought her unrequited love could be solved if they were more intimate, and it could all end in holy communist union - so Bulgaria went for a "friends with benefits" deal - which didn't yield the fruits Bulgaria hoped for, but still, there was hope.

Until, that is, the fall of Soviet Union.

Bulgaria has been contemplating suicide ever since.

For a person who lives in Bulgaria, i must say you gentlemen have really got the idea about it.
Just a few corrections - Bulgaria never had politics - anarchy maybe.
And the other one, we didnt get SHIT from the ottoman empire except 500 years of doing nothing, while the world was driving steam cars. Sad story though.

But for now, we're attempting strong kiss-USA's-ass politics, and we have nothing to do with communism.

Actually, life isnt that bad here :)

You should realize that you didn't get shit from Ottomans because Ottomans didn't have shit themselves. Though I'm sure they constructed some shitty bridges and public baths when they had money a few centuries ago.

...and that's why you're labeled as "third world".

exactly. lol.

seeing how the world goes, why bother making an army, having allies. lets just stick to NATO , they'll know what to do.

XD

Ooh boy, it's true about what they say about post-communist decline in education. This level of blatant ignorance was normally unheard of outside USA.

Sorry, but Bulgarian beaches are shit. Greece got the good stuff there - I mean, they're OK if you're stuck there, but by no means worth going there for.

I've heard good things about the touristy places in Bulgaria. Can't remember exactly what but I remember the impression it left, which was mostly positive.

Protip: 90% of Wikipedia articles = useless propaganda, either for or against the subject. You're not going to learn shit on that site other than the names of all the pokemon.

I spent a week there last summer and thought it was great. Very inexpensive but beautiful place. Not sure exactly where I went since I had a native girl showing me around and I don't speak/read the language.

its not exactly the thing you would want to present bulgaria with, in a place like 4chan.

>so yeah.
i have the same question. so what? it's cool because it looks abandoned and otherworldly. should i be punished for liking something the communists made?
>> Anonymous
>>45004
It was abandoned but there were some missing panes of glass so we crawled in. All of the marble was gone, the mosiac walls were mostly gone, the roof tiles were gone, it was dark and creepy as shit.

So to sum it up, it was fucking awesome

i guess. lol
