We're coming from Michigan and thinking of hitting Toronto since it was the first place that came to mind, but I don't want any place too touristy. Looking for some good places to buy quality microbrew beer (suggestions would be nice), and just some place to go that has a lot to do and some nice places to go. I like to drive around a lot even where I live, so if I could do that in Canada and have some nice things to look at it would be nice. Not sure how long we'll be staying, but we'll be staying in a hotel. Also some good places to eat would be nice.

tl;dr:

- Is Toronto a good place to visit? Any other suggestions?
- Needs to have things to do locally, pubs/bars, places to eat (suggestions?)
- If you're going to suggest a specific city, it'd be great if you could give specifics on places to go/things to see.
- Going in December

I think alcohol is taxed heavily up there. I'm not sure though.

Toronto is an alright place, have family that lives there, from what ive seen there theres not much to do in the winter, the underground city and the skating rink out side of city hall are nice to see.
You could go to Ottawa the capital its 5 hours north of TO. You have the worlds longest skating rink and the parliment buildings are nice they have a light show at night. We have museams up the wang, Downtown is nice you have the rideau center for shopping and the market for bars and resturants are like 5 mins apart we have average skiing if you like that 45 mins away at mont cascade in quebec but yu have to deal a little a few french folks thats all I got right now

You're stupid.

Toronto is pretty much just like every single other big city. Stick to either Downtown (there's a lot to do - shopping, landmarks, clubs/bars/restaurants) or Uptown around Younge & Sheppard area (Mel Lastman Square etc). There is also a few casinos around and a some race tracks if you like to gamble.
