I'm thinking about moving to boston. Any cool sights to see or fun stuff to do while living there? Coming from the west coast and never been to the east coast so how big of a culture shock is it?

Ever heard of the Red Sox? Yeah, don't go there.

Lame community that proverbially and literally sucks their own cock.

NY ftw.

You can go watch the Patriots win
You can go watch the Red Sox win
You can go watch the Celtics win
You can go watch Boston College win

MA is a tad bit boring but still cool

Boston is a great city, especially if you like sophisticated women. I used to live there and I miss it terribly. Most of the people that have something bad to say about are sports fans from outside of New England.

Being a New Yorker, I get pissed off when Massholes boast about how much cleaner and cooler Boston is then NYC. Then I go up to Boston and it's really nice and that makes me even more pissed off.

There's no grid, so all navigation involves getting to places from Fenway Park, the only landmark every resident knows where it is from anywhere in the city. Most residents know the general direction of where you might want to go. Speaking of Fenway, Gillian's is near there and that's seven floors of fun but I heard it's a chain. Groliers was a bookstore/coffee shop that was frequented by EE Cummings and TS Elliot, however I've heard that has also become very commercial. I've always wanted to go there but have never been.

Plenty of cool stuff to see & do. Lots of museums, universities, historic sites, etc. Boston hangs on to a lot of its history, so you've got 300 year old buildings where the Revolution was fomented standing next to modern high rises & skyscrapers.

let me get this straight.
you're coming to the east coast via the west and you're thinking of moving to.. Boston?
Visiting I can understand, I just went to the Boston for the first time this summer, and though it was nice being there (I especially loved Beacon Hill), it just doesn't compare, in any way, to NYC.
Being that I'm from NYC, Boston was nice and new but incomparable.
Do yourself a favor and move to new york.

Sup OP, i go to a Uni around the Fenway area in Boston, and all i can say is that i generally love it here. I've never been to NYC though, seems too intense for my tastes. Housing is rather expensive, especially if you're thinking about getting one directly in the downtown area (well you probably already knew this). And I really couldn't compare it from the west coast at all. Other than the fact that the winters suck balls and literally a "shit storm" if you try to get anything done in your car.

funny because i bike everywhere. but the T is really convenient i must say. but yes that's where the drivers get the term "massholes" anyways.

it's a fun city that has a lot going for it. it's very pleasant. i enjoy it.

Hey, they only lost one game last season. I mean, yeah, it was the Super Bowl, but that doesn't discount the fact that they won every other game.
