Oktoberfest Anonymous
Alright /trv/ first time here so be gentle.

Me and a friend are planing to travel down (swefags) to Munich and visit Oktoberfest, so what can you tell me about it?
Where should we go? when would you recommend to be there, in the opening days or the finale?

There are many German B- and C-stars
The only dark-coloured person you'll see is Roberto Blanco. Singing "Ein bisschen Spaß muss sein" will get a reaction out of him.

Go to the Schottenhamel tent. From the main entrance, head left to the fraternity boxes. If you manage to get in, you'll have the time of your life. Best time to go there is the 2nd weekend.

How about a 4chan meet up? I can arrange places in the boxes.

2nd week, got it. 4chan meetup would be gold, we'll all be newfags dropping memes, all can listen to my drunken german to.

Sounds like a plan. Here's a picture of the tent. I'll put a pedobear on the box so you guys know which box is safe (without a reservation, it will be impassible for you to get a seat otherwise).

I'll be there on September 27.

I'll start posting instructions one week in advance.

This could be epic!

Munichfag/Schwanthalerhöhefag here.

This post is full of fail.
Schottenhamel = fail, unless you're 16 or 17. I'm 30, and last time I was asked if I have come to pick my daughter up.
2nd weekend: Oh, don't even think about it. Whole Munich is crowded with Italians, and the tents are closed at least by 11 a.m.
I'd recomment the first Sunday and the following days in the first week.

Unfortunately, I'll be in Tokyo during this years Wiesn. So I can't bitchslap the drunken tourists while peeing/vomiting on my drive.

amerifag here.. went over had a blast.. make tent reservations, or get there early in the day towards the end of the 'fest.. you will meet people from all over the place... very cool! hated the Italians, cheap fuckers kept try to walk away with any unattended beer.. caused some havoc.. Australians were the most hardcore group there.... Toilets were rank, and funny to watch the wasted people get carted off by medics.... Have fun!

Patriotic Ausfag posing as Amerifag to improve his nationality's reputation. You can sue me if I'm wrong.

Ignore the oldfag. Schottenhamel is full of willing jailbait and jailbait is LEGAL in Germany. What else could you ask for?

Just be there early and if the tent is closed, hang around at the back entrance. You may have to wait a while to get in but it's definetly worth it.

Enjoy your Hippodrom, grufti.

Specific tent isn't that important is it? if you don't like the place just move to the next or am I wrong?

Must find a way to get there too, train/bus is cheaper but trickier booking. oh well. Lufthansa seems to be my option.

that's kind of true. I live near munich and this festival really sucks. Lots of drunken gimps growling the whole night long without a clue of working people.

If it's crowded, the tents are closed and you leave the tent, you won't come in without waiting (which can be up to several hours on fridays/saturdays).

I recommend anyone going to Oktoberfest to go to Volksfest too for a real German experience. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttgart_Beer_Festival
Only 20 minutes train from where I live.

September 26 – October 12

well guys we're missing some of the most important aspects now: How about the beer and women?
Does every bar have a range of brands or is it "god-knows-if-it's-even-beer" on-tap?

Second, if the women is half as good looking as OP's blonde chick, I'm all set, should I stop dreaming?

Every tent only sells beer from one specific (Munich) brewery.

And yes, there's lots of women like the ones in the picture.

Nice the tread is still alive. I'm glad to hear that, man I'm looking forward for this.

You're in Sweden for god's sake, your women are ten times better!

Every real Bavarian knows there are only two tents.
Augustiner and Hacker. Augustiner for eating and going there with your family and Hacker to party hard.
Shottenhammel is for fags. On the last weekend the gay community in Munich goes there(I'm not joking).

To OP:
No matter how much hard alcohol you can drink, the Oktoberfest beer will bring you down. The stuff is malicious if you're not used to it. It has about 6 to 8 % of alcohol which is very much for beer. But if you're careful you can have the time of your life.
>>48857
The beer has to be from breweries from munich. There is a wine tent too, but I've never been there.
And the about 70% women are exactly like in OP's pic. The other women are cheap turkish hookers with their gay ass brothers.

That girl is beautiful. She shouldn't even marry.

Bawww, full of fail information.

Gay community meets up on the first Sunday in "Bräurosl".
Oktoberfest Märzen: Between 5,8 and 6,3 %. Strongest is Hofbräu (and best in my opinion). Although this doesn't matter, it's very little carbonated so they can pour it faster from the containers into the Maßkrüge. Beer is cold for about 15 minutes, then it's no more beer but hops tea.

Augustiner isn't that good for eating. There are mostly old and grouchy people in there. Music is nice (traditional), no shitty Mallorca-songs.
For food, I'd recommend one of the smaller tents. "Heimers Hendlbraterei" is really good for chicken and duck, and not that overpriced. Poschner and Wildmoser are also fine.
"Hofreiters Haxnbraterei" for grilled knuckles of pork.

P.S.: I doubt you can find real Bavarians on the Oktoberfest. There are tourists, Breissn (Prussian people) and young people proudly presenting their 70-EUR-Lederhosn, made in India.

OP.
Thanks for the info, I am looking for traditional/local brew/food/music/people so.
I guess that if you stay some days you'll be able to try different tents.

Hm, do you speak a little German?
I know some nice places, but apart from the bigger localities with some tourists it's hard to get along with English.

Yeah I speak average German so I think I'll manage. Should be the dialect though...

How often I've heard a sentence like that. And 2 hours later the speaker was puking his lungs out. God I love Oktoberfest
>> Anonymous
All the germans I know have said that it's just a tourist trap designed to overcharge you for your beer.
>> Anonymous
Stupid OP, its not October yet.
>> Anonymous

First, it starts in September.
Second, a trip needs some planing huh?

>>50169

Sure hopes not.
>> Anonymous

Not anymore. In the last 5 years the number of locals going to the Oktoberfest increased drastically. That it's expensive is true, but only compared to regular German prices. The prices for beer are about the same as in the US and still cheaper than in Sweden, Finland or even Italy.

Good to hear.

Now, tell me about reservations, is it important and does it cost anything?

Thanks for all the help guys btw. :)
keep this tread alive.
>> Anonymous
>>50543
If you're early enough there you don't need to reserve something. Reservations are very difficult to get, especially now. 90% of the tents are already booked out. Some tents cost, some don't. One advantage of reservation is, that you get armbands with which you can get in and out the tent like you want. But in some tents they are time stamped.
I would suggest you go early enough, about 8-9 o' clock in the morning, during the week. On the weekend's it's really crowded and if you leave the tent you have a snowballs chance in hell to get back in.

tl;dr Go during the week, early enough and you don't need any reservations.

It's fucking expensive you pay around 15€ for a fucking chicken.
