I had a family member go who didn't like it. I think she said it was run down and the people weren't nice. That's all I remember.

Enjoy your abduction

If you're white, they'll hate you and try to rob you blind, if you're American, they will abduct you, make some ridiculous demands and use that an excuse to behead you.

just lived there for a year, well worth it, pretty short bus ride to alexandria. the people are nice but islam can be draining. harder as a woman, dry heat easy to deal with, pretty filthy in the city, wonderful bars and clubs, invest in lonely planet, big language barrier, good hash, easy to get around, safe, the catacombs in alex will show you dead people like you aint never seen.

I've always been curious about Islam and their practices, so it wont really bother me. I would love to go during Ramadan, but I don't think I'll be ready to fast for a month.. I know travelers don't apply to this, but when in Rome...
Good to know bus ride is short. Thanks anon!
