Hey /trv/.

Do you ever look at a world map and just be amazed by the worlds beauty? Like, how every country is different to other ones? It amazes me to the extent that I just think about it for hours on end, it's like... I can't explain.

I want everyone to list places they've been, and how they liked it.

Also, what country/state, province, area etc you live, and describe it in a few lines. What you can do, is it expensive compared to your wage, etc.

I will post mine in a minute.

I live in Gothenburg, Sweden and I've been to Denmark and Germany.

That was a good movie/series. Ever see the film Baraka though? You want to see real beauty, watch that. It will make you cry.

Where did you get that map? It seems to say "Newfoundlard" instead of "Newfoundland".

Scotland.

There's a real presence in the Highlands, it feels very Gothic and historic. A grey mist wrapped around a horizon of mountains is something special.

The people are bastards, like most folks. The nearer to England you get, the more blank-faced and moronic they get. The further north you go, the more they start to resemble American rednecks, all xenophobic and religious and shit. That said, most Highlanders are very hospitable and friendly.

As for prices, petrol (gas) is very expensive in this day, like in all places, but in particular when you go to the Western Isles or Orkney/Shetland you'll find the prices about 50p higher than the mainland.

Been to Yurop. France, Holland. It was nice on all occasions.

I have been to Nevada, Florida, and Michigan. Border towns of Mexico as well. I want to goto Europe, New York, Australia, and Japan.

I live in Houston, TX, USA. It's a nice place to live, but not visit. It's one of the cheapest places to live in a developed country. Money goes very far here. A car is basicaly required, but there are some nice residential areas in midtown that you can get. Currently a great place to find work because of oil prices.

Let's see... I'm originally from Germany, though I don't remember it too well. Currently I live on a small farm in northern Nevada (America). We're about 20 miles from our nearest neighbor and 50 miles from town. The view around our place looks a lot like this in the wintertime, and when it's clear we can sometimes see the northern lights. During summer it's fairly hot and very dry.

The recession is definitely affecting us, but we're still making the bills. We actually left Vegas before the housing market crash because of all the Californians moving into town. Currently wages in Nevada are a little off balance because of the growth, but they'll even out.

I make a trip into Reno about once a month. There's lots of good restaurants, and it's the perfect city for a night owl. Casinos are open all night so there's always someplace to eat or something to do. We generally spend the weekend and spend most of one day just wandering around San Rafael park. Then we'll either spend the next day going to the museums and the galleries around town or we'll go to the Reno Philharmonic. Gas is too expensive for it now, but we used to go for drives around Lake Tahoe in the summer.

As for traveling, I've been all over this state and seen some amazing things. I've also been to California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, and Nebraska.

The nicest cities I've visited have been New Orleans, Portland, New York, and San Francisco, and Reno. The least tourist friendly were Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, LA, and Seattle.

I'd love to eventually make it to Ireland, back to Germany, France, Poland, Japan, China, and Laos.

Originally from Brooklyn, lived there till 2 months, than moved to Long Island, well Mastic NY, till i was about 2 yrs than we finally settled in Kenosha WI...sadly.

I guess it's not all bad 30 miles south of Milwaukee's downtown, and 45ish miles away from downtown Chicago, shame i barely get to go to either one.

I have gone back to visit NYC on numerous vacations and i am going to live there when i get older (19 and in university now)...i have been to Chicago, Milwaukee, Nashville, Atlanta, Toronto, Miami, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Charlotte among numerous other large North American cities, and none of them are even 1/10th as magnificcent as NYC in my eyes, nope not even Chicago. NYC is truly the best we as America have to offer as far as cities go, and i imagine it is one of the best the world has to offer as far as cities go.

I grow up near Thai - Laos - Cambodian border, went to Hongkong when I was a child, then the US, and South Africa

I don't remember much about Hongkong, except the taxi was driving like mad, a beggar banging his head on the street to get your attention and fuckwin shrimp wonton soup.

The US, I was there when I was a highschool student (1998) land of chain stores, (Minnesota) The nature there is nothing short of picturesque. especially Boundary water area. Some very nice people and some very stupid people. I went back there again to work after 9/11 and the place has really went down hill.

South Africa, best chocolate and cream on the planet IMHO, the landscape is gorgeous, people that I have met are mostly friendly, considering that they have some mercenary company pamplets placed in my hotel's lobby. Then again I was there for international meeting, holding diplomatic visa gets you a lot of privileges. Riding in their train the wooden cabin is a pleasant experience, you see the sky meet the earth with nothing between them.

Would want to go to Russia, Japan or Europe sometime though

Holland: I'm not Dutch, but Turkish. I was born in Holland. I live in Den Bosch (sorry, not Amsterdam), which is a town with almost everything. Ít's a nice place to live.

Germany, Saarbrücken: For just one day, it was a schooltrip. It was ok, it was to see the christmas-market.

Turkey: I go there almost every year, because some of my family lives there. I love Turkey a lot, there are some nice places there.

France, Paris: I went there a few weeks ago for three days. Lots of beautiful and old buildings there! Definitely worth to see them from close.

One day when I'm older, I hope to travel the world.
