Goin to Fiji w/ PeaceCorps in may...anyone been there? whats the deal?

Things aren't great right now. Heavily corrupt government that acts like dictatorship. As a tourist you'd generally be left alone. With the PeaceCorps you're going to be harassed a lot.

college degree so you can teach/do administrative stuff for the organisation or knowledge of modern farming techniques to help drill for wells, irrigation etc.

learn to realise there's a massive disparity between the IRL experience on the ground and what the news machine writes

The only heavily corrupt government you could be takling about would be Qarase's

College degree in what? Does it matter?
Also thinking of joining the peace corps

I heard they were actually sort of picky about it. Like if they thought you were a pussy and couldn't handle living in a foreign country for 2 years when they interviewed you they'd throw you out, even if you were qualified/had a degree, etc. Maybe OP can elaborate.

I dunno what degrees they look for. I'm not OP. I'm thinking about joining though, too. But I would guess math teachers would be the biggest shortage (they seem to be everywhere).

OP here
I have a BA in Journalism..so I dont think your field of study is relevant. However the paperwork and doctors appointments seem endless. It took about one year from initial application until I got my assignment(I am a procrastinator). I only had one interview with my recruiter and it was pretty stress free and easy.

and I wont be living in any cities, rather i will be living in some tiny village away from everything. i dont expect to be harrassed too heavily in those conditions.
