Is anyone from Yvelines? Versailles specifically. If so could you tell me anything interesting or (in your opinion as a person living there) important for someone hoping to move there?

Why Versailles if I may ask ?
If you need to move to the Paris area, I'd recommend trying Paris itself, the area around the Canal Saint-Martin (10ème).
This (American) anon is thriving in this ecosystem, and it's slowly getting better.
Versailles is not too far away by RER.

I've just always had an interest for it, however I was going to visit it and explore extensively before moving. Canal Saint-Martin looks interesting and attractive, but I'm also looking for a place where I can continue my studies at university - does it have any universities in or around it?

Yeah, there are many universities and "Grandes Ecoles" in Paris. None just near the canal, but some are within walking distance, and the others are within 30 mins max of metro/train.

If your intention is to visit Versailles, don't miss the castle of course, but you don't need to live near it. From Paris, it's just a few euros and maybe 30 minutes away.

Hey I've been in Maisons-Laffitte my 16 first years, now in Paris.
...Don't know what else I could say. I like it better, but it's quite expensive and a little "bourgeois", though Paris must be the same prices now if not higher. People aren't especially nice indeed, but whatever. Paris's not far, but still you have some green and trees.
I guess it depends on where you're coming from, and what you're searching for... If you're going to university, why not live directly in Paris ?
