Israel is a GREAT place to go, i served a year in the IDF, and it was awesome, but due to it being surrounded by so many hostile countries, if you have a beard or have ANY visible signs that could point you to being a Muslim (or signs that you could be violent), you'll be singled out on the street, i had to do it a few times and it aint pretty.
if your going in as a civ keep your papers with you at ALL TIMES! NO EXCEPTIONS! if you don't have ID papers on you they wont let you go back to your room to get it, you'll be held at gunpoint and thrown into the nearest prison until they KNOW its you. if you get in trouble for ANYTHING, its best to just relax and let them deal with it, English speakers tend to be treated a LOT better then those that don't and ill give you an example
i was at an airport working security (sometimes the IDF is called in if airports get pretty busy), and a few VERY tired and angry Africans got off a plane from south Africa, as soon as me and a few others approached them they started screaming bloody murder, since they didn't speak English we had to go full force on em.
a few weeks later they were sent back to SA at gunpoint. that day was awesome
