I'm in Tokyo right now. Went to the Sanja Matsuri in Asakusa yesterday. Today I wanted to check out Ginza, maybe.

Anyway, I wanted to get some suggestions from you Anons where to go. Very practical advice if possible. Just list me some interesting places, nice streets, bars, places to eat and so on.

Right now I'm in Kanda, if you guys want to know. Not far from the JR Station, close to the ?????.

Pic somewhat related.

Was only in Tokyo for about 2 1/2 days but here's some ideas.
Obvious Akihabara, I mean, if your on 4chan, you've heard of this place-go there
A place that I liked that has nice restaurant/bar and isn't full of hype like Roppongi is, go to Ikebukuro, west entrance/exit of the station. It has some nice izakayas (or however you spell that word)

It's Sunday, head over to Akihabara (no traffic allowed on the streets) or Harajuku and Yoyogi park (lolita dresses, rock-a-billies, people watching).

Didn't they stop the Akihabara hokoten due to all the fallout from the Asuka Sawamoto ruckus? I thought the last one was May 4th and that most of the regulars are now scattered at the nearby park or in the area outside Yodobashi.

Go to Omotesando. Also, Naka Megro.

These are pretty hip areas.

If you went to Akihabara, Nakano Broadway might be interesting for you as well. JR Chuo Line to Nakano, you'll see a shotengai from the station exit, after about 200 meters there is a sign saying Broadway in front of you. The interesting shops are 2nd floor and up.
Before (or after) this Book-Off in Ogikubo could fit your interests. It's one of the larger Book-Off dependencies. Used books from 105yen, you know the deal. Get out of the north exit, turn right, cross the street, go right.
Then you are close to Shinjuku, visit the Tosho (direct underground connection from the station) and maybe the Gyoen. After this Harajuku is interesting, since there is the Meiji Shrine (get out of the station, turn right, cross the tracks using the bridge, enter the park) and Daiso (get out of the station, turn left, (first?) right, on the left-hand side), where you can buy cheap souveniers for your relatives and friends. The streets east of the station may count as an attraction of their own. Crêpes. If you still have time, Odaiba is a good place to spend the evening/early night. There is also the Tokyo Big Sight. Don't know about bars, though. Bring a tripod.

If you're into narrow streets, bars, restaurants and youth or alternative culture in general, then Shimokitazawa is the place to be.
