Hello /trv/,
Americafag here. I don't speak a word of any languages other than english, and I've never been outside of the country.
I've decided I really want to go somewhere in western europe-- not to live, not to tour, but just kinda to hang out in for like a month.
Where would you recommend? I'd prefer something other than England/Ireland/Scotland. (Wales is okay though).
Nothing about this is already planned, I just want to know where I'd have the easiest time getting around having no knowledge of travel abroad and not speaking anything other than english.

This comes up a lot...Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Germany, and Malta are best for English-only speakers.

pretty much this. all of those are pretty good if you just want to chill out for a few weeks, especially as an english-only speaker

Other than Malta, those were mainly what I was thinking of-- good to know they're easily accessible for english-only speakers.
Thanks.

Holland. Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Don't make me give you reasons why, goddamit.

Germany and Holland are OK but they have a horrible accent and think they are talking correctly.

I hear Denmark is pretty good for that as well.

The best thing to tell a jerk Hollander speaking bad english is "I'm sorry, I don't understand German."
