Ok /trv/ I was planning on going on a trip to Mongolia, from the UK. It looked like a fun and cheap sort of place to go

Then I looked at plane prices. £4000 or thereabouts. What the fuck /trv/? What. The. Fuck?

fly to continental europe, then take train up through Russia then onto the trans siberian/Mongolian rail which will take you right into the heart of Ulaan Bator (sp). Much cheaper

According to Wikipedia the travel time for the Moscow-Beijing train is just over six days. Beijing is some 2000km further than Ulan Bator so my guess is that it would take something like five days to get Ulan Bator from Moscow.
