Or to one of these beauties?

These places are far too classy for my taste.

I could maybe stomach best western but now I am throwing up over myself from all the hobnobbing snobbery.

Hampton Inn and Residence Inn are probably the roomiest.

Olden days Holiday Inns FTW!!

Modern day Holiday Inns blow the goat and empty the wallet.

Actually, I've stayed in a lot of Super 8's over the years and, overall, they're not bad for the price. Of course, it depends on each one because I've run into some that are filthy and/or far too expensive. Also, hold onto that old logo...looks like they just replaced it to keep up with the new one from Econo Lodge. I will also add that I think Super 8 is tied in epic-ness with its somewhat similar cousin, Days Inn.

"We'll leave the light on for you"

That was a great slogan.

Unfortunately all the Super 8s I've stayed in over the past few years have been disgusting.

I think these were all finally torn down by decree of the Center for Disease Control...haven't seen one for ages, even in the South where there used to be a butt-load of them.

I could easily see how one could run into a string of bad Super 8's...or, any hotel brand for that matter. It still amazes me how these chains -- whether high-end, mid-range, low-end -- can be so inconsistent from location to location. I can't believe that, after all these years of the American road-based travel industry, that nobody has McDonald's-ized their franchises and set some kind of standards for each owner.

Accor chains ftw.

That was the slogan for Motel 6.

You mean the HILTON?

All the super 8 motels that I've seen were clean and fairly comfortable for the price. They get my seal of approval.

In case your comment was inspired by>>62956-- I noticed while trying to find a good Red Roof logo or sign for>>62956that they are no longer part of Accor and are now self-owned again. Accor has an even bigger spread of brands than the Choice line...hard to believe that the same company that is responsible for the fancy-schmancy Sofitel is also running the ultimate cheapie, Motel 6.

Accor does the whole lot. Fancy Sofitels, to cheap, basic backpackers.
