Alright, so my buddy and I are planning a trip to Yemen, in particular Soqotra, but that's irrelevant.
Anyways, to get in to Yemen you need a visa. These visas are expensive as shit, except for if you know someone who lives there or though a language school.
Seeing as I don't attend a language school, nor know anyone that lives there, I ask anyone on here that has visited Yemen where did you get your visa?

tl;dr Planning on visiting Yemen, need to know how to get a visa.

I beg to differ. I mean I'm all for an appreciation of the roads less travelled, to visit the countries unmarred by tourists, but YEMEN?
I mean come on, this is a country for which it is advised not to leave your vehicle unattended for risk of an explosive being planted. And good luck even if you do manage to get a visa to actually leave the capital, there are restrictions on that too.
Enjoy your kidnapping/shooting/terrorist attack/landmine explosion/beheading, anon.

P.S. I hear that the waters off Yemen are fantastic for sailing and other watersports activity.

Why are you worried about the price of a Yemeni visa? Soqotra is incredibly expensive (the flight, accommodation, transport etc.), the visa should be the least of your worries.

Also, a number of countries can get a visa on arrival (it costs around $20-$50 dollars or something like that), I can't remember exactly.

>Tourist/Visitor: £25. Business: £35 (Single-entry); £90 (6-month Multiple-entry); £180 (1-year Multiple-entry).

I will agree that it's pretty fucking ghey to charge you to enter the country, as a tourist, _and_ requiring a prearrival visa, however, £25 is definitely not the end of the world. There countries with way more expensive visas than Yemen.

Enjoy.

You've been watching too much American media anon.

Faux News should not be considered a window into the arabic speaking countries.

Go to Yemen, try some Qat, buy some awesome daggers, buy some exotic ornamental stuff like handcrafts and decorated rugs, try some weird local food, get very sick, build some immunity and last not least return home stronger physically and with some kickass eastern things.

Also visit the ancient desert ruins, they're older than McCain's grandmother, which is like waaay before Jesus walked the earth....

Boat there illegally from India. Fast.

If you actually manage to stop by Socotra - Scrapbook the fuck out of it, you fag. I've always wanted to go, but my desire to live has been strong enough to repel me.

Where would you plan on staying, assuming you manage the unlikely task of obtaining a Yemenite visa?

Why do you fags keep saying it's difficult to obtain a visa to Yemen?

It ain't just Fox News, there's a lot of pirates there. Although since the Gulf of Aden is a major waterway for shipping, (lol Suez Canal) there can be a lot of pirates and still have not a particularly high risk of any particular boat getting pillaged by them.

Yeh, Okai.
Srsly, though
Where the hell can you actually stay on Socotra? The island proper isn't dangerous, it's Yemen's capital (which you have to fly though)

Negatory. I'm not even American. My knowledge of the security situation in Yemen is from dfat.gov.au and my Kuwaiti amigo.
I'd still love to visit Yemen, though for my own security I'd probably want to do it through some arranged tour group. But first I'd have to get over my instilled hatred for organised tour groups...
