I don't know about the night life but as for the romantic part- go for the ?azienkowski Park. It's really nice, especially after the dusk.

Or the old town (which is only two old, because it was burned to the ground in WWII). But it looks old and romantic.

Starowka (pron: staroovka) or Old Town is probably the standard thing to do in Warsaw. It's not too far from downtown. Nowy Swiat (pron: novy shvyat) street is quite pretty and has all the shops etc. It leads right into University Square and Starowka beyond it. You can walk there from downtown (the whole thing's not very big) but if you don't feel like it you can take bus number 175 from in front of Palac Kultury i Nauki or the Culture and Science Palace (see pic) from the corner with the Metro entrance (see pic) and with the Novotel hotel on the other side of the street. It will take you past Nowy Swiat and right into University Square (get off at the stop marked "Uniwersytet")

I recommend you try our famed Polish delicacy, paczki (pron: ponchkey). They're like donuts but without the holes, and they're way better tasting. The best place to get them in all of Warsaw is right on Nowy Swiat from a place called A.Blikle http://www.blikle.pl/

I'll post more ideas as they come to me.

You could also go to Zlote Tarasy. It's right by the Culture and Science Palace. The structure looks rather impressive from the outside but inside it's just an upscale shopping center. It's not very romantic but if you're into that, there it is.

If you're in Warsaw, check out this restaurant called "The Blue Cactus". its a tex-mex kinda thing, and even though its in poland its one of the best kind of I've been to.

Another thing that's more on the romantic side would be to see the Wilanow palace and gardens. It's a tad out of the way but if you're there for a couple of days you should be able to manage it.
It's not my cup of tea so I don't have a whole lot of info on it. Google is your friend.

Few places are nice, but first try polish beer and vodka!

OP here... Thanks for the heads up about Warsaw!! Not sure about the park after dark, Central Park in NYC comes to mind, is it safe? Also, compared to the US and EU countries, is Warsaw/Poland cheaper or more expensive as a whole? I want to buy some electronics (DS games) and things (as presents), should I get before I go stateside, or pick these things up in Warsaw.. Thanks again...

I'm not sure about the park. I don't go there after dark. But it certainly doesn't seem to have a reputation for crime the way Central Park does. At least I haven't heard anything about it.
Right now Poland is still cheaper but because we're trying to get into the Eurozone and because the US economy and strength of the US dollar are slipping, it's steadily becoming more and more expensive; food in particular. Just don't expect Mexico or anything.
Do NOT buy electronics in Poland or anywhere else in Europe!! Electronics have always been expensive here but are even more so today. The prices are generally two times what they would be in the US. Europeans actually fly to the US specifically for the purpose of shopping for things like electronics these days.
