The best place I visited last month when I went around eurofag land. Highly recommended, the Swiss are superior to any other group of people I saw there. They smile and use that gesture.... What's it called..... Friendliness?

Few pix coming.

You are right. I went to ten countries in Europe 5 years ago. (France, Monaco, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, England, Ireland) Ireland and Switzerland were by far my favorites. Nicest people, nicest scenery, and I could afford pretty much everything. Also, it's very multilingual there (even more so than the rest of Europe bc they have 4 languages) and at least 3/4ths of the people I talked to were fluent in English.

I'm convinced I want to live there after grad school. Somewhere like this>>35935

I had a short lay-over in Zurich on my way to Italy last summer. 5 star airport, the floor was made of black marble. Country of Win.
I want to drive a 2008 STi in the Alps, or something

I did a two week tour of Italy which included half a day in Ticino, an Italian speaking part of Switzerland. It was > Italy.

I'm a WOP, and I didn't even like Italy that much. Spain FTW

OP here. Sorry for the late reply, you are correct. Berner Oberland. Lauterbrunnen to be exact (Wengen to be more exact)

I do agree with the sentiments here, however living there is not easy due to their extremely draconian citizenship laws.

...and, Switzerland is fucking boring. Yeah, I know, it looks like paradise on earth, but nothing fucking happens - it's all too stable, stores close at fucking 17:00. It is a place I'd like to live, but maybe after I'm past 50 or something.

>>36850stores close at fucking 17:00

thats only on Saturdays, shops are normally open till 1830. And shops in train stations until 2300.

Considering I live in a country where stores close at 22:00 or not at all, that's still way too early for my tastes.

I have to agree with>>36850, it seems more like a place to live after retirement than before it.

I'm old and like to relax at home and enjoy scenery, is this place for me? Switzerland is part of the Schengen countries so I'd have no problem going there and staying forever. Packing my bags as I type this (with one hand)

When the rest of the world comes t a grinding halt due to massive famine, no more oil, and wars the Swiss will still be just fine in their mountains. I'm jealous of their beautiful country and awesome gun laws.

Awesome, I'm heading to Switzerland soon myself, going to stay for 3 weeks near Lausanne. What would you suggest I make an effort to see? I will have a rail pass and free time on the weekends to move around.

I've been reading up in wikitravel and other sites, as well as looking at print books like lonely planet (blech) but I would like to get some info from someone who has been there recently.

Visit Berne and Lucerne.
With the InterCity you are in Berne in 1 hour and in
Lucerne in 2,5 hours

Avoid Zurich and Geneva. Zurich sucks in many ways and Geneva is full of niggers

You don't know how much problems they make. Here are as just as much immigrants from the Balkan like Indians in London or Mexicans in San Diego.

We have the high criminality rate only because of them.
