Going to Saint Petersburg this summer. Ive heard there are a lot of insects there due to the fact that it was built on a swamp.

Whats there to see in St. Petersburg? I will be there for 2 days only, then my boat leaves.

Oh and first post on /trv/. Forgot this board existed.

St. Petersburg seems like a pretty cool place. I've never been myself so I can't really tell you anything about it, but I'd like to go some day.

St. Petersburg? One interesting "travel tip" I heard is that if you see cops coming in your direction, cross the street before they spot you. They say that St. Petersburg cops like to hassle tourists a lot for some reason.

St.Petersburg is pretty awesome. I used to live there for a fewyears when I was a kid and we still have an apartment there. There are all sorts of really nice tourist-y places to visit that you can google for.

This is sorta true but it is especially so if you look dark (i.e. can be mistaken for a Chechen). So wherever you go, always, ALWAYS bring your documents (passport, etc).

The city centre is nice, but everything else is a shithole. Booze is really cheep and gives you a hangover for weeks... a and they have alcohol in every drink. Even the energy drinks have 9,6 vol in them.
