Tell me what you know about Paris /trv/...
A friend of mine is considering moving there to live, even though she's never been.

I think it's a bad idea. Isn't Paris full of unemployment and immigrants?

Yep. Pic related, it's the % of muslims in every county. A pity it stops at 'over 30%'

Depends on where she wants to live in Paris.
If she is rich enough, she can find a nice room in an old part of Paris.

And for employment, what is she studying?

Really bad idea, she must know nothing about the city then... cost of life, people, culture, jobs...

>Isn't Paris full of unemployment

Well, it's Europe, there is a lot of unemployment but you can find a job, we're not in recession btw :)

> and immigrants?

Yes but you won't find more blacks than in the US or more muslims than in London
It depends where she wants to go
Paris intra muros is fucking expensive so no immigrants here
In fact they almost all live in ghettos where no ones go except police (sometimes), in the north of Paris in majority

She's probably a dreamer about Paris, like a lot of Japs who think that it's heaven like in movies ... it's just an european city like the others with good things and bad things

>>79107

sorry but your map is totally wrong, we don't have as many muslims here, maybe 80 % in the ghettos but no more than 5% in the middle and rich suburbs, and less than 0,01% out of the cities

I want to move to Paris too!

Like Jim Morrison!

Only I want to live past 27!

I'm hot, well-off and single. Any hot French fems want to take me in?

give specifics. what are the names of the neighborhoods? which arrondissements?

- You friend should definitely spend a few days (better weeks) for holidays there first to see if she would really like it. Note that language won't be a problem nowadays.
- Paris itself is very rich and has a lot of job opportunities but given the cost of living she better be working in a high paying field. There are plenty of immigrants but those tend to be rich white Europeans and Americans.
- Paris' suburbs are where the ghettos are and where poor Black/Arab/Muslims migrants concentrate. Unemployment is high. Crime is rife (by European standards anyway).

tl;dr Paris is okay, avoid the suburbs.

It used to be the 18th arrondissement but it has gradually been gentrified by the middle-class. Now the migrants are mostly found around Paris i what people call the "banlieue".

No, in France, it's kinda the opposite of what we have here in the states; here, the poor, black, high-crime areas are in parts of the inner-city while the suburbs are always the rich, white, nice places. In France, the inner-city is the rich, white, nice place while most of the suburbs are trashy, poor, black, lots of immigrants, housing projects, high-crime, drugs, etc.
So basically, most parts of inner-city Paris (the arrondisements) are very nice; the suburbs are where you don't want to be.

Of course there are exceptions in both cases (very nice, rich areas in the inner-city in the U.S., nice suburbs in France), but for the most part, it's true.
