Hey /trv/,
I'd like to learn Cantonese. I know it's a bitch of a language, and very different to English in probably every way, but I'm moving to Hong Kong once I've finished university, and speaking Canto would help me greatly in getting employed.
What would you say is the best way to learn, and what can you recommend me? I've looked at things like Rosetta Stone, but I can't find a reliable looking one that I can teach myself.
Any help about learning any language is appreciated, I just don't know where to start.

ok this may seem odd but this guy first learned fluent Japanese in 18 months and is now replicating his success with Cantonese.

Learn mandarin. Cantonese sounds disgusting, and isn't as widely used.

Does he ever explain how he did it? All the posts on that site just seem to be inane one-way conversations directed at his non-existant readers.
