I want to one day live in a city with a lot of people, lots of jobs but AS LITTLE POLLUTION AS POSSIBLE. A very GREEN city. Also, I like being able to go outside as much as possible, so it can't be too cold. I do like the cold, but not colder than -10 degrees Celsius. I like forests a lot. Where should I be looking?
scandinavia is all very green
Quebec City, if you don't mind learning french. It's green, built spread out, tons of jobs lately because of the city's 400th anniversary.
Try that new city being built next to Abu Dhabi.Masdar city, I think it's called.
How cold does Norway get?
Very.Just stfu and head to Quebec city or Ottawa.Or Madsar if you have a clusterfuck^3 dollars to spend.
GTFO with Quebec City. It's probably fucken -20 there right now.
Depends on where.Around Oslo, I'd say about -15C at its coldest. This winter it barely reached -10, and last June it got over 30C.
Gah, 4227 here.Was in reply to>>4207slowpoke.gif, etc
>>4225-10, but the humidity is a bitch, just like in Ottawa or Montreal or Toronto.
New York is the greenest place in the US.
>>4194Then, my friend, you should consider any of the medium sized cities in Umbria region, Italy. The name Umbria comes from "ombra", that means "shadow", and it relates to the numerous forests of the region; people there are quite pratical and if you want to work, you will find work ( even if just as a treecutter, mason or carpenteer, very respectable jobs btw ). Winters can be cold... but why should you care, with a roaring fire in your fireplace that is cooking some delicious roasted boar?
>>4236gb2/1300/
>>4234I've always wanted to move to New York, but the pollution terrifies me. Seriously, I couldn't handle that.
>>4236The Mediterranean region has always been alluring to me.
How are Switzerland and New Zealand?
New Zealand: Lol enjoy your sheep.Switzerland: Enjoy your gnomes.
If you want nice developed cities with lots of green spaces, and located near a forest, try with:Switzerland, New Zealand, Southern Argentina, Canada, Sweden, Southern Finland, Norway, Denmark, Austria, South-Eastern France.
Eastern Ontario, Canada.I mean like the whole golden horseshoe parts, between Ottawa and Toronto. Not cold at all; probably warmer than most areas people are reccomending, although winter is obviously cold. hurr durr. Some areas have barely been touched by civilisation; if you're lucky you could even build your own town in the northern parts.
>>4247honestly, on a per capita basis, there is a lot LESS pollution than elsewhere. tiny carbon foot print, low energy consumption, etc.
>>4247new york is nowhere near as polluted as los angeles, not even close
New York's rivers are scary, but otherwise the per-capita emmissions are incredibly small.Namely because I don't think there's any more factories, are there? The main concern is waste disposal, but if the city can get a decent recyclin program to cart off unwanted junk then it'd be great. Also, taxis. I hates them.
no american city is as polluted as china'syou can see china's pollution from spaceps china did global warming
>>4300Plus, aren't all the Subway cars electric? And can't you walk to most things you need?
I agree with the eastern ontario and ottawa suggestions. I have live here all my life and my family has lived here from the late 1800's. It is a beautiful green and clean area. The city of ottawa has an excellent urban/rural mix and a large greenbelt between the city and suburbs that is full of paths. The problem with Quebec city is that it is filled with quebecquois, and they like the real french are rude and smelly.
Not many people in New York get lung cancer?
>>4308I disagree, but Quebec City is a seperatist hot bed, and there ARE some dick heads. But, hey, the chicks are hot and the pot is first class.Try Montreal, it's pretty green, but sort of congested.
>>4285Argentinafag here...Bariloche is very nice indeed!
On the Pacific Coast, I remember Seattle / Vancouver area being very green as having lots of parks, walking people. Also try Colorado or northern California if you want a quieter place.
>>4307i think all subway cars are electric, imagine gassing the entire subway system with exhaust fumes... would make auschwitz look amateur.manhattan is incredibly easy to get around, its a complete grid until you hit the village.subway lines run lengthwise up and down the island, subways are the fastest way to get around even if you had a car, and the busses do the crosstowns. plus taxis are everywhere.
>>4320Ooh
>>4320>>4328What this guy said, wow.
>>4315Well, it depends where you are. Some are hillbillies, others are hot, but all are proud of who they are.>>4305Remember what anon said about subways and Auswitch?Chinkland is like Auswitch on steroids.
>>4331>>4328Glad you like it... it's a very popular tourist destination around here.If OP knows good Spanish and/or English, he could make a living as a tourist guide... heh
>>4206Stop with the Arab bubble shit.
Seattle is pretty nice and green
amsterdam
Melbourne
>>4670that's about as green as you can get. HUR HUR.
IMHO... Rotorua / Whangarei / New Plymouth, New Zealand...All great cities.. little to NO pollution.. very healthy climates with over 51 inches/1300mm annually. Rotorua has HEAPS of forest nearby. Google these places or put in a flickr search. Also to consider: Hamilton, Wellington, Whakatane and Taupo.
>>4285Listen to this man!
Portland, OR
The level of "green" in a city is inversely proportional to its population.
The greenest place I've seen was TRNC, the northern part of cyprus. They are under an embargo, and therefore couldn't industrialize which preserved the nature - but , traffic flowed from left and most people spoke English. But, it's too warm for your and my tastes, and honestly I couldn't live without fast internets.
anyone who is saying somewhere in the northeast is fucking retarded. he said max -10 degreesC. that leaves (for green) portland/seattle/vancouver.
Portland, Maine has 60k people, an airport, Amtrak and buses to Boston, and it's in the woods. It does get pretty damn cold, but almost never below 0F.
You could try Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Its extremely dense urban area teeming with humanity, and have very little pollution due to its complete lack of industry. Its very eviromentally friendy green city. You will feel very close to brutality of nature here.As for jobs, the police departments and the city morgue are all hiring, and many other jobs are in demand due to the high-turn over of empolyees and postions being vacated for other reasons.
Vancouver. The wind & rain make all the pollution go away. And were a bunch of hippies. And it's the 2nd warmest part of Canada hands down.
>>5546Yea and all he has to do is give up all his rights and live every day in fear!
Vancouver. City bylaws actually require a park being present every few blocks and trees line everything. You also get your temperate rainforest on one side and the forested mountains on the other. However, be prepared to handle rain and lots of it.
>>6231>rainforest>be prepared to handle rainHOLY SHIT STOP THE PRESSES
>>6231city laws also require a used heroin needle tipped with aids infected blood every 2 meters and no less than 3 junkies per block
>>6283sure, maybe if you live on the east sidestay out of the slums and you'll avoid most of the vancouver's drug problem
All these dipshits who are telling you to go to Canada are fucking around with you.Canada (especially southern Ontario) is a shitstorm. One day it is 40 degrees celsius and the next it is minus 20 with minus 30 windchill for a nice total of -50. And I thought the north pole was cold.Your eyes cannot remain open with the -30 wind blowing into it while the temp is already at -20, the moisture in your eyes WILL freeze. When that kind of shit happens all the homeless die.
>>6287you mean east of the rockies, right?
Victoria, BC, CanadaI saw snow once.
>>6319Sounds like Texas. It's the sunniest day ever, then it starts to snow, then a tornado comes through, and it's over 90F the entire time. In one day. Also OP, try New Zealand or one of those Scandinorwanian places.
>>6319Good job at making me lol.
try southern sweden
>>6319you are clearly a torontofag. in vancouver winter is usually around 5 degrees and overcast, not some fucking -40 and snow like it is in toronto and edmonton.
>>6319Oh, come on. It's not that bad. The hottest it gets normally is mid-to-high 30s, and the coldest is mid -20s.
>>6577Even 35c is still a pain when there is no ozone above the GTA (Greater Toronto Area for you non-Canadians). In countries which are not polluted you could stay outside in the blazing weather for an hour and you still won't get skin-burn but here you step outside while it's hot for 15 minutes and you get skin cancer. As for how cold it gets... EVERY year it reaches at least -30 even on the warmest years. The reason you might have -20 as the number in your head is possibly because the news reports your thinking of didn't include the windchill of doom. Hell, I remember -15 temps with -20 windchill.>>6548Well I was mostly referring to Ontario with that statement, I have no doubt that British Colombia (which is on the other damn side of the country) has different weather. But there is a problem with even there... a shitload of the population are chinese, they built the railway and never left. I hate to live in an area where the population is mostly just one race, mostly because they're full of shit and treat everyone else like crap. Ever been to Pacific Mall (Chinaman Mall) in Toronto? Those are some seriously foul-mouthed bastards.
Move to Liechtenstein
>>6580If you want no ozone layer you want Beijing or any other chinese city...Toronto can get very hot, for a number of reasons.Avoid at all costs, it's a big city, I don't think OP wants that. You'd have a much better time in Ottawa, or just outside of it. Maybe even in Gatineau if you don't mind the french.
>>6600Actually, I have some questions about this. Is it hard to be granted citizenship? How hard is it to get a job in Liechtenstein?
best places - Portland Orygunn for you amerifags and zoorich switzerland for you eurotrshmunchinfags. green, mean, lean ... fitin machine etc. you get the bean
San Francisco Bay Area
