Answer me one question.

Why would anyone from outside the United States, want to move there?

I fucking hate it here and want to leave it.

This reminds me, are there truly other countries out there that still gives you the freedom that the US does? I mean almost everything on the Internet isn't censored here unlike in other countries. Are there anyother countries just like America?

Quite a few of them give more freedom than the US does actually. Especially after the Patriot Act passed. US is one of the most restrictive countries in the developed world.

You have those in Europe, too, believe me.

>You have those in Europe, too, believe me.
So which would be the better of the two evils? America or Europe?
>Quite a few of them give more freedom than the US does actually. Especially after the Patriot Act passed. US is one of the most restrictive countries in the developed world.
But what countries don't really censor the Internet? That is one reason why I do not want to leave the US, because of the freedom of Internet I recieve and lack of heavy censorship.

As far as racism in an of itself goes, Europe. But Americans are more welcoming of immigrants as per the very nature of their nation and probably also on the account that their country is XBOX HUEG compared to Europe.

I was talking about all sorts of freedom, the US might lead in untethered internet access, I don't know.

lolwut???

Since the Patriot Act has passed none of my freedoms have been taken away. I can still surf 4chan, I can call my president a douche bag. I can say all politicians in washington need to be shot and hung. The Patriot Act has done nothing in terms of freedom. The worst is the fact I have to take my shoes off sometimes at an airport and the last time I've ever been to one of those was 4 years ago. The Patriot Act does little to nothing. It's not a good example of restricting freedom because it's done nothing.

I think the the understanding of europa of the average american is insufficent and the europeans' vision of america is also heavily biased.
The truth is western europe and USA are pretty close when it comes to freedom, politics and economy. The difference mainly cultural. Europe isn't an opressed hellhole compared to the US, and the US isn't a racist and blindly patriotic state.
It's pretty much the same shit.

Deregulation has always been good to me, Con-Ed can't run up my electricity prices as much

To answer your original question:

Unemployment tends to be lower here, there are better jobs, if you want to get involved in high technology all the big guys are here (NASA, IBM, GE, Lockheed, US Military, etc.), if you want to be an famous actor you have to move to California, the best universities are here, beautiful parks and landscapes, lower taxes than most W. Europe states, lower cost of living, stuff is cheaper, a government not run by useless hippies (Europe refuses to grow genetically engineered food), you could want to live in a giant metropolis like NY, or you could want to live in an open countryside, its a lot easier to open up a business.

Other than that I dunno

Hey OP, US may have it's problems but the people here still try to make things better--even if they don't agree with the fuckers running the show. Please, get the fuck out and don't let the door hit you on your way out if "you fucking hate it here" so much "and want to leave." Another possibility is you can get a job for once in your life and shut the fuck up because you obviously have no real world experience. Even with all our political/war bullshit (that every civilized country is experiencing) the US is the freest and greatest country in the world. Wordly travel proves this.

How does that affect freedom you fucking idiot?

Has a U.S. citizen been tortured? No. God you're an idiot.

>Torture
How does that affect your freedom?
>Aggressive, needless war (Iraq)
UN Oil for Food program, shut your whore mouth.
Got rid of Saddam and now the people can actually speak out against their government instead of being tortured and sent to prison. Go read Mayada Daughter of Iraq you cunt.
>Guantanamo Bay
I've never seen a legal U.S. citizen sent there. I don't see your point in bringing that up. How does that make the U.S. a terrible place to live?

>Excessive deregulation
Deregulation isn't the problem. How does that affect freedom? If anything that increases your freedom, especially if you're a business owner, larger or small.

Shut your whore mouth.

I'm wasn't trying to argue, simply show that there are different perspectives around the world. I find it useless to compare the US and western europe when most of those who do it haven't lived in both of those.
Still i can respect your love for your own country though some people find it hypocritical that some of those aspect of US policy as in Guantanamo bay goes against the US declaration of independence. And we all know the that document is what set the ground for our modern view of freedom.
As i was saying, i'm not arguing just pointing out that the world is not always black and white.

I live in Norway and we norwegians view America as a great nation, if slightly misguided. I mean, the whole war on terror thing and that Iraq business, we didn't really like those, but that's just politics man. I've met a few americans on vacation and they're mostly really nice. I also have american ancestors (which in turn came from europe, so...)

Anyway, it's hard to say, America is such a huge country. We only have a little under 5 million people here, so it's hard to compare.

Generally, I think we here in Norway have it a bit easier, since you americans seem to have pretty strict social standards, like what makes you a "loser" and stuff like that. Also, we've got welfare up to our necks here. Taxation is very high but then again, we get free healthcare and all kinds of other benefits, so we don't really mind. It kinda feels like that if you fall down in america, you're on your own. Here, you're not. There's always some guy there for you. (Well, not always, but most of the time.) America seems more like a natural selection kind of thing, where the unlucky and weak end up at the bottom of society, which sounds pretty brutal.

Oh, and I'm glad to tell you that we're NOT communists, despite what you might have heard! :D

There was one Scandinavian i knew who said a lot of people from Sweden, Norway, and Finland don't travel because they know the quality of life isn't going to be better elsewhere. Is there much truth to that, generally speaking?
>> kuzukuzu
>>80597

Ausfag with Norwegian heritage here. Most definitely not.
In fact I know quite a few Norwegians living in Australia, and there's PLENTY of finns here too...

Plus you'll often see many Scandinavians visiting Thailand, the southern European coast and I know a few that live and work in Hong Kong also. Sure, the Scandinavian countries enjoy a very high standard of living, but they also have one of the most undesirable climates as well...

>So which would be the better of the two evils? America or Europe?

Which do you like more? Loudmouth Christians? Or Loudmouth Muslims?
>> Anonymous
>>80597
Well, I mean, we do travel a lot, but that's mainly on vacation, business trip, etc. People rarely move from here permanently, because it's pretty fucking sweet here. It's pretty cold though, so a lot of people travel south quite often. See, it's like this: Prices here are off the charts, but so are the wages, hence we can afford pretty much anything in other countries. Hell, many norwegians just go across the border to sweden to buy stuff, since it's so cheap compared to Norway.

So I guess I'd say no. We DO travel a lot. Being a tourist somewhere is generally preferable to actually living there, you know. Being a tourist with a lot of money to spend is even better, so yeah...

(Now that you mention it, some old people sometimes move to Spain or some place like it down south, to capitalize on their pension (which is enough to thrive on down there) and just stay there until they die. :p)
>> Anonymous
>>80585
Also like to ask how many of those tourists supported the war in Iraq if the subject ever came up. As an Amerifag I've never understood why so many Eurofags throw the war in our face. As of right now most of us hate it and it began in a reactionary time. Had you guys been attacked in such a way first you'd most likely be in the same situation. (Albeit probably would have left sooner like we should be)

Anyway tl;dr: Iraq War sucks most Americans hate it we elected a negro on pretense he'd get us out lets all be friends dawgs.
>> Anonymous
>>80600
I think the thing is that as long as you have a norwegian citizenship, you always have the alternative to go home to fall back on (welfare keep you afloat) so it's less risky for (for example) norwegian guys to travel around and work other places.

Also, plenty of norwegians study in australia for some reason. I'm not sure why, I prefer our cold weather to your dangerous animals. :[

>>80611
Well, you DID elect the guy that brought you there, y'know. :p Not trying to spark a shitstorm here, but most people over here are a bit confused about why you're acting like the "world police" as many people over here calls you. It's like, if Norway was attacked like that (not that that would ever happen, we're too small!) we wouldn't start to invade countries and stuff like that. I guess we just don't have a tradition for that kind of thing, but I dunno. There are SOME who support you over here of course, but the "politically correct" thing to think is that you're a bit nuts going after not just Afghanistan (we're there with you) but Iraq too! I mean, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, so it seems a bit strange. Some would say it's just you continuing your tradition from Korea, Vietnam, etc.

In any case, I think it's mostly because we have a whole different culture over here. While we're not communists, we are pretty uh.. "non-violent" in lack of a better word. I mean, we would rather work it out without fighting, though personally, I can see that it would be very different if norwegians were actually killed. We've had ridiculously few causalities over the years, so it's a bit unreal for us to imagine so many people die.
