ride the staten island ferry on a clear day, eat at grimaldi's (or any other local pizza joint), see the mets (if its baseball season), find a good deli/bakery, walk the brooklyn bridge...lots of stuff

Take the Acela to Boston and enjoy a city that isn't made of fail, AIDS, and gang warfare.

Just walk around.

New York City is NOT made of fail, AIDS, and gang warfare. It is made of subways, win, and annoying David Letterman Show queue hounds.

I think that is a little much, but Boston does rock.

How much are trains in NYC, out of curiosity?

Unlimited 1-day Metrocard is $7. Considering a single-use Metrocard is more than $2, that's a fucking steal.

Based on>>8551,>>8538can go fuck themselves.

In Boston, regular fare is $2, with a "Charlie Card" $1.70.

Bullshit. Yeah, it's got taller buildings, a few nice landmarks, and some unparalleled museums, but that's good exactly once. After that, Boston becomes superior.

You forgot being one of the most important parts of American culture and the great food. Seriously anything you want to find you can find in NYC. I just wish it was in a warmer climate and I'd actually consider moving there.

ah yes, suddenly having a plane flown into you makes you a part of culture.

The one thing to do in NYC is eat. There are definitely a couple of places you want to hit up, but going out for every meal can be quite costly. Breakfast can be quite cheap but dinner or even lunch can be at least 10 dollars or upwards.

I'm not too sure exactly what you're into. But I would take advantage of the rich culture of NYC. Go to a museum or two; watch a performance (ballet, philharmonic, Broadway musical). They sell fairly cheap tickets at the Tckts booth in Times Square for showings that same day. But you better get in line early as everyone jumps on that thing. Also, you can go to a comedy club. Any will do though some would recommend Caroline's. The Comedy Cellar is actually quite cheap. It's variable as all comedy clubs are, but there at least used to be an online coupon which allowed you to get in for free as long as you purchase two drinks (non-alcoholic or alcoholic).

Get a good view of NYC someplace. See Manhattan from the Brooklyn Promenade or from a tall building like Rockefeller Center or Empire State Building. I'd recommend going to Central Park, but it's really nothing too special. There are a number of trails and a lot of green. If you do go, then you should probably hit up the Terrace and possibly the fancy-shmancy Tavern on the Green. Otherwise, if you're into architecture, there are a bunch of old time bridges that are quite pretty, in my opinion.

So i'm guessing theres nothing like a week long rail card or anything?

There is. You simply have to press the right buttons on the Metrocard dispenser. English>Metrocard>New Metrocard>Unlimited Ride>7-day Unlimited Pass.

I don't remember how much it costs, probably 49 dollars, possibly even less.

wow, props for actually remembering the correct screens in order. Usually when I'm buying a metro card I'm like "OH FUCK TRAIN'S COMING!" panic mode.
