Thailand on a budget

How much spending will I need for approx 3 months living like a tramp?

Got my air fare but I need to start saving fast if I want to get over there next year
>> Anonymous
I suppose it would cost $3 for an entire villages' lolis. So my suggestion would be to bring $100 and live like a king, your perverted fuck.

protip: no westerner goes to Thailand for wholesome reasons

Well I do. Asian chicks just don't do it for me. In fact, they partially disgust me

Aha. So its boys for you, then?

I want to go there to live for a month or two, eat delicious food, and fuck the locals (not lolis). How is that not wholesome?

Thailand is not wholesome in the least fucking bit
>> Anonymous
>>81587
And how the hell would you know, faggot? If you've ever even been, you were one of those fat 40yo white men looking for a prostitute. Thailand is more wholesome then you could ever try to be you piece of shit.

Thailand actually takes the child sex tourism thing very, very, very, very, very seriously. They know they have a horrible reputation in this regard and they're sick of that shit. As a single, presumably male traveler expect to be red flagged on the way back. If you're going to bring a laptop, expect it to be seized as evidence on the way back by the CBP.
There's a lot more to Thailand than sex tourism, but good luck convincing your friends and family back home. America is fucking stupid about pedophilia so I would simply not ever discuss it with my country men on the way back.

This happens ALL THE TIME.

I know the US can't make you fork over your encryption keys, but can Thailand? How often does this happen? Is this only leaving by plane or bus as well?

I think my colleague's point is that you should delete your CP beforehand.

>>81626
It's not my thing. Good thing MILFs aren't illegal there ;) but i'm still not going to boot up my laptop and let them have at the drive. Would this be a huge problem?

deleting is not good enough....buy a new hard drive

By tramp, you mean backpack and guesthouses and hardly going anywhere?
You could do it on about $1,500...

I recommend you shorten your stay to a month, and spend the amount that you saved for three months. I am the samefag from the other night giving the scoop on the true prostitute thailand scene, by the way. Ask away.

>>81587Thailand is not wholesome in the least fucking bit
lol, this may be true, but who really gives a fuck about "wholesome"?

>>81638

>>81625
I have been back and forth between Thailand about 4 times in the past 8 years. They never looked at any of my laptops and media. The only way they will ever look at your shit, is if you got ratted out by someone. Also, why the fuck would any sick dumb shit into digital CP go all the way to Thailand for it? 4chan and thepirtebay have plenty of it.

1000-1500$

That all? Fuck I might go for 6 months
>> Anonymous
>>81820
Half of my trips returning from Asia I've been detained for a few hours while they go through my things and specifically ask what kind of images are on my camera and my laptop and what kind of web sites I've been visiting, and I haven't even been to Thailand. This was coming back from Japan.
I'm disgusted by CP and I think lolis are gross but the stink of pedo affects us as well, and the US's overreactionary witch hunt on pedos isn't helping things any.

>>81834That all? Fuck I might go for 6 months

It can even be cheaper. You won't have anything to do, and can't go anywhere, but if you enjoy tie dying your hair, smelling bad and walking up and down KRS every day, haggling over the price of drinking water and rice with locals who will live and eat better than you on their $4 a day salaries, yeah, I guess $1000 for 3 months is enough....

So, i've read this a few times on here. Are there a bunch of expats living in Thailand like bare ass fucking poor or something?

>>81971So, i've read this a few times on here. Are there a bunch of expats living in Thailand like bare ass fucking poor or something?

Not really, more or less emo kids dressing up like ravers and hippies, trying to become "kewl ravers" and in the process, having no fucking money. They are cheaper than the locals who earn about $2000 a year. They walk in the sun when locals are taking public transportation, for example. It is head shakingly stupid to see, but good for the lulz, I guess. The Japanese students do this when they are in Thailand too. It is hilarious. True story:

I was staying in a guesthouse in Thailand long termish. They got a Japanese guy, maybe 20 year old. He would just sit in his room all day aparently, come out twice a day to eat. He ate a cup of rice, and some water. Not even bottled water. he negotiated the price of rice from 10 baht, to 8 (about $0.25- $0.20).... He actually stayed there for about 3 weeks, and as far as anyone knew, that is what he did. He didn't look sick or anything. Just sat there in his room and watched his fan spin around all day. Just before he left, he came tot eh office to inquire about the trekking tours offered. The normal cost was about 3000 baht for three days of hiking, camping and seeing "native" shit, etc. He asked if they could just take his camera along the next trip out, and he would pay one of them 500 baht to just take pictures on his camera. They didn't only because they were afraid of the liability of the camera (it was a fucking nice ass Sony, as I recall, about half a years salary for one of the tour guides)

This shit goes on and on. Why bother going to a foreign country if you plan on living like a fucking monk? Better just to be an actual monk and grow spiritually or something.

You probably won't be going at all now the way its looking. Its always kicking off in Thailand theres no way I'd go there seems dangerous
>> Anonymous
>>82116
I'd still go, but I'd keep well away from Bangkok and major built up areas.

The thai people are never going to harm tourists, they like (most of) them and rely on them to keep the economy going. Now could actually be a really good time to go because you'll be treated like a king and many package holiday people won't book or will cancel leaving the beaches quieter and people offering you better deals.
>> Anonymous
>>82126

Ya, go and avoid Bangkok (probably the most fun city in the world for a guy), and avoid all other "built up areas" like the beach resorts, Pattaya, etc...

I suggest you sneak into Thailand via the land border with Laos, as to avoid Bangkok, and hide out in a rice paddy somewhere in the North-Eastern provinces. You will be safe there.

>haggling over the price of drinking water and rice with locals who will live and eat better than you on their $4 a day salaries

Haggling is a part of the economic system in most countries. Some might even be offended if you don't haggle. Of course this doesn't apply if you're already being sold stuff very cheap but otherwise yeah.

You can still do alot of stuff if you can just find the right place to stay in and the right places to visit. Staying in a popular tourist guesthouse in Bangkok while still having money for interesting food and beverages? 1000-1500 definitely not enough. Finding a cheap guest house in a city where you can't see a caucasian face within miles? Then it will definitely be enough.
>> Anonymous
>>82134Haggling is a part of the economic system

true, but haggling over a set price of rice in a guesthouse from 10 baht to 8 baht is not. The rest of what you said is reasonable, so I will withhold my rage.
>>82116You probably won't be going at all now the way its looking.

This happens about every 15 years in all of the SEA countries. We get used to it, and so do they.

if you can handle dirty rooms then you might spend about 150-200 baht a night.

>>82126

I was gonna go around April/May and stay in Bangkok for a while. Reckon it'll still be unsafe then?

>>82312

How much does it cost to stay alone on the islands? Accom, food etc
>> Anonymous
>>82312

Ya, a $15 dollar whore is gonna be either
a) a dirty streetwalker
or
b) short-time with a 29 year old from a scuzzy bar

If you take a girl from a go-go, and u want her all night, including the bar fine (which is $15 you gotta pay to take her from the bar), add another $30-$50 on top of that.

If you are old (30+) your gonna have to pay full price, but if you are in your 20's, ask for a student discount and you can get it for cheap, for free, or you will pay one time and continue to fuck her for free after that when you become "friends".

Trust me I know, my dad works/lives in Bangkok and I've been there 4 times when I was 20-24 years old. Going back this April too.

And to all the guys asking "will $XXX be enough for me to live on daily" , tell us what you expect to do while you are there.

Are you going to be staying in a guesthouse, eating noodles 3 times a day, and not going out at night (girls, drinks), or do you wanna stay in a $18-30 a night hotel, and party at night and get laid?

Mind you, Bangkok is the most expensive city in Thailand, so if you want to hang out there, and do it right (which is NOT staying at Khao San Road and hanging out with backpackers) you are looking at around $30-70 a day/night.

If you want to go to a beach area, you can get a bungalow for around $15 a night.
>> Anonymous
>>82335

Basically I want stay in cheap but preferably clean accomodation in Bangkok (Khao San whatever, I don't really care), have a few nights out in Bangkok (but no hookers), travel around and see the sights, temples etc etc, then head to the islands and just chill the fuck out for as long as I can afford it without necesarily doing very much at all.

>>82334

So you've fucked your fair share of Thai pussy then I take it?

I recommend staying in Chinatown. Very interesting and safe neighbourhood (always people on the streets), close to the river for ferries and also subway/skytrains for easily getting to other popular places around bangkok. Food is authentic and dirt cheap, there's not so much whoring... at least not as in your face, although there's a great 'soapy shower' place in chinatown.

You can get cheaper, but look up the 'Chinatown Hotel' (original name) on Yaowaraj Road. It's well rated on tripadvisor etc. and great value for what you get (less than $30 a night).

PROTIP: don't sit at the back of any buses.

It bears repeating, SEX TOURISM IS NOT A LEGITIMATE ENDEAVOUR. It is the realm of barely pubuscent uglies and paedophiles.
