I live in Halifax, and I can say that the immigrants are the best people in town. I mean, I take the bus a lot, and I run in to all kinds of wiggers, teen mothers, generic black people, and god knows what else all acting like they fucking own the world and that they're hardcore because they do drugs, ignorant of the fact that there isn't a person in this province who DOESN'T wake and bake, as well as attempt to abuse any perscription drugs they get their hands on. Christ my grandmother gave me some of her morphine pills once after she broke her hip, because she said they were great. They listen to their headphones loud enough that you can't carry on a conversation and talk shit to everybody around them. But in the better parts of town, you find the immigrants. The durkas, in their weird little durka clothes, and the moonchildren with their pink camera cell phones and strange languages. They at least try to keep to themselves and when they aren't they're at least polite. One of my best friends growing up came from somewhere in the middle east, he never said which country, and he didn't speak english for the first few months I knew him. He was a great guy. A bit weird, but what can you expect? The asians don't socialize outside of their own little groups, but at least they don't bother other people. The worst of them is a group of chattering asian teenagers on a bus giggling like idiots and taking pictures of each other with their camera phones, invariably making peace signs, and at least then I'm never worried they'll sucker punch me when I walk off the bus like I am with some people I'm on the bus with.
