I'm going to Japan in a couple of months with my mother. We're gonna be spending Xmas and New Year there.

Anyway, I've already been to Japan several times by myself, and I spent most of my time in Akiba, travelling to places from Animu (last summer I toured Saitama with a Lucky Star guidebook) and checking out beaches, parks and schools, looking for cute lolis.

None of my usual (wonderful) activities seem suitable for doing with my mother, whose idea of Japan is one of Kabuki, shrines and whatnot.

Any really good (unique) places to take her, or will I just be taking her to the usual (Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka and Shikoku to look at buildings and temples, and Tokyo to do some shopping)

tl;dr: mom-friendly stuff to do in Japan slightly more interesting than shopping or looking at gardens, temples and shrines.

Dude, temples and shrine are fucking awesome. I wouldn't mind spending 2 weeks just doing that. There are some amazing lesser known temples in the mountains north of Kyoto (Jingoji, etc), and lots of awesome spots throughout Japan (famous onsens, etc).

A boys childhood in contemporary Japan, although somewhat more Western than that of other Eastern nations, still includes masturbation by mothers "to put them to sleep." Parents often have intercourse with their children in the same bed with them, and "co-sleeping," with mothers physically embracing the child, routinely continues until the boy is ten or fifteen. One recent Japanese study found sons sleeping with their mothers over 20 percent of the time after age 16. A recent sex survey reported "hot lines" of sexual abuse saying that mother-son incest in almost a third of the calls, the mother saying to her teenage son, "It's not good to do it alone. Your IQ becomes lower. I will help you, " or "You cannot study if you cannot have sex. You may use my body," or "I don't want you to get into trouble with a girl. Have sex with me instead."

I went to Japan with me mam as well. Here's a couple of ideas:
Onsen and volcanoes in Hakone: Good walks, out in the country, onsen, cooking eggs using geothermal heat in a volcnic area. There's a big circular route you can do, up the mountains by gondola, across a lake by ship and walk back on the Tokaido road, not fogetting to pop into the tea-houses on the way.

Suggested stay: 2-3 days.

Koga ninja village: Never got round to doing this meslf, but looks good

Suggested stay: 1 day

Kyoto:
Maruyama park: Huge f-off park in the East of Kyoto. The most temples... anywhere, lots of crafty shops in the south like the regional glazed pottery, kiyomizu temple,
Johnny Hillwalker: If this guy is still around, take a tour. He meets outside the main station.

If you can get together with some Japanese people for new year's eve/day, DO.

Ummm... and good luck
