Most of us Amerifags know nothing about the air scene in Europe, except that Heathrow is madness and BA sucks. My relatives from N.Ireland always arrived on BA, but I can't tell you anything more than that.
2. Emeryville is closer to Oakland than San Francisco. It's a jaunt across the bay bridge. Public transit wise, it's not as well connected to the rest of the area. In particular, the BART tube system has no Emeryville stop. That sucks because BART is probably the best mass transit method to go across the bay. However, what you'll do is stop at the MacArthur station in Oakland and then get on a bus called Emery-Go-Round that'll take you somewhere in Emeryville. The SF Int'l airport also has it's own station. I've attached a map for you to look over, it's quite simple. Of course, if you don't want to use the tube, I'm pretty sure there's bus service of some kind, but I've never looked into SF-OAK buses because I've never had the need. Generally people just use the tube. 3. San Francisco has a ton of weekend attractions, way too much to list here. Especially if you like theatre, museums, and art galleries. 4. Unless you want to rent a car and do a long-ass road trip down the spine of California (8 hours of driving, woo hoo!), you should just go fly. The Queen Mary is a tourist attraction. I don't know if the restaurant and hotel on-board still operate or not, but just browsing around requires no reservations.
