Hello

I'm looking to spend one week of september on Iceland and I'd like comments of people that have been there or are living now.

I don't really like guided tours when I'm on vacation, I'm more the kind of guy that likes to feel the normal everyday life of the natives and so I was thinking that probably Reykjavik is the best place to go.

Is September a good month to go? is there any night life there? places to stay? general comments? thanks guys.

Also I must add, my idea is to just get the plane ticket and get there with nothing planned, no hotel, no nothing, is this a good idea?

dont listen to the pussy faggots, not planning could work out well. the worst that will happen is youll spend too much money on a hotel when you get there. check out couchsurfing and meet some locals to get a taste of everyday life, just note that everyday people is a very very broad term.

I wanted to do that also, but with almost no money. What are the chances of making it out alive ?

The fact that he's posting here, asking for travel advice, means that he won't make it in the wild. Thus the advice to RTFM.

Good job picking iceland, there is plenty of nightlife if you can handle it... people start lining up outside of clubs at 11 and begin to stumble home between 3-Dawn. September isn't bad, but bring a windbreaker. Its the cheapest place to travel to in Europe if you are an Amerifag because of exchange rates, so I say you are in good shape

you'd better have some kind of plan though, due to its size, its much harder to go wandering aimlessly with the help of others.

My personal recommendation is to lounge around Kaffibarinn, its tiny but a fave lounge spot of mine, they serve coffee until the evening and then the bar opens up.

Reykjavik is one of the most expensive places in the world also the average temp is not that much harder then many Canadian cities
