Hello, guys.

I decided to run away from home and travel the world.

I simply can't stand any more of the shitty country I live in (Estonia, the black dot on the map).
Petty mundane problems which my family makes me believe I have are driving me crazy (LOL UR GOING ABROAD TO STUDY? SHOULDVE TAKEN CARE OF THAT 2 YEARS AGO LOLOL).

I'm 19, I want to develop mentally, which is impossible in the conditions I'm in.
I'm highly intelligent, proficient in English and Russian, also know the basic level of many other European countries and Japanese.
Learning a new language isn't difficult for me at all.

My family isn't that rich, I can steal as much as $10 000.

Do you think I should do it?
If yes, where do you think I should start?
Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Isn't Estonia in the EU? You probably don't need to run away, try and find a job as a translator somewhere (there's bound to be someone in England or Germany who needs a Russian/Japanese->English translator) then get your family to front you the money to go and start your life abroad. Alternatively, apply to be an English language tutor in Japan.

Soome ehitajaks.

I live in Tallinn.
As you might know, the people there are shit, just like anywhere else.
I can't stand the thought of having to live with them for the rest of my life.

I'm pretty anti-social, so I'm definitely not looking for any new acquaintances.

I just want to experience something new, something that you can't get anywhere else.

Have you read Yevgeniy Onegin by Pushkin?
Well, I'm somewhat like him.

To sum it up, I just want to see the world and not be attached to one place until I die.

Hello fellow eastern eurofag.

Go to Thailand and hit the seaside/islands. You will be able to hang out with people without really having to rely on them or you own social skills, forming bonds etc. It's not as bland or pointless as in eastern europe. Trust me, you might be anti-social and awkward but so am I and I enjoyed spending time with people there.
Apply for a scuba diving course, there are a few short ones up to a divemaster, then you can go for a scuba diving instructor license and you can finish all of that in let's say 3 months. And guess what - languages are worth a lot there. If you speak english, japanese and one more european language you will be wanted as fuck by the diving shops.
A lot of people who quit their former lives just go there and disappear (as in, born again, not as in LOL CANNIBALS ATE THEM). You won't need to take much, a bit of clothes, documents, basic toiletries etc. Diving course up to instructor would run for 2000$ let's say, ticket to thailand is 1000$ and you'd need 500$/month (or much less) for living expenses.

Other option is to start a never-ending travel on a bicycle. There's a guy who's been doing it for more than 30 years now, can't be bothered to google for it now but you should be able to find it.

Let me know what do you think.

*your own social skills, that is

The never-ending bike travel seems just like the thing I'm looking for.

Staying in Thailand would mean being attached to it, that's exactly what I don't want.
I want to be free and independent.
I want to broaden my horizons, see how the people live in other countries with my own eyes.

I really don't give a shit about money and income, I find living a life of a traveling vagabond quite attractive.

15779 here
I didn't mean to *stay* in Thailand for a long time, a year maybe, you can get scuba diving instructor license and get a feel of that country, and use that as a starting point. After that you can leave for other countries and while you say you don't give a shit about income, you need to eat and a diving-related job is one of the easiest to score no matter where in the world you go (in b4 sahara).
I mentioned it because I'd like to become a vagabond, just like you, but I realized you actually don't get to see the life in other countries by passing there or staying for a week, a longer time is needed.

And I don't understand why do you think staying in Thailand would mean you would be dependent and attached to it? You rent a cheapass bungalow, get temp visas/do a visa run regularly and can leave at will. Pack your things in a backpack and goodbye Thailand, here I come [insert name of country].

If you want I'll dig up the link for the bicycle guy.

Hmm, a year may be too long, I was thinking of maybe a month or so, maybe even less.
However, I do need a means of getting money, so this scuba-diving thing seems like a good idea.

And please do find the link about that guy.

Well, a year might be, but 6 months for example would just fly by imo. Also, of course it's a good idea, I've been thinking&planning the same thing as you for a long time now.

The guy is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_Stucke
And more detail here:

I would go for a recumbent cycle if you decide to go the cycling route, it's much better.

Do you use icq or anything of the kind?

Thanks.

No, I don't use any of the IM programs, since I've got no friends to talk to.
This plan to travel is also connected with my constant wish to be alone.
>> Anonymous
Lol, don't worry - I'm not looking into getting a travel partner, as I said I'd like to travel alone too. It's just that I don't often meet people I could discuss this with.

There is one question you need to ask yourself

do you want to fail at life?

if yes, proceed with your faggy runaway scheme

While I'm glad that you're into the same thing I am, it's starting to look to me you're into it for the wrong reasons..
If you read Stucke's lifestory, you'll see how the most valuable thing for him was the acquaintances he got through his travels. Also, traveling like that will get you involved with people, like it or not and you'll realize there's a tradeoff between seeing the world and being alone.
If you want to be alone, go to Mongolia and get a herd of sheep. If you want to travel and be alone for the most of the time, get a sailboat.

I'm not saying I want to isolate myself from everybody.
When I say I want to be alone, I mean I have yet to find a worthwhile person whom I wouldn't hate.

Srsly.
I don't know which of the two runaways/life-sucks people here is OP, though.

OP: If you steal from your parents, run as far as you can or you'll get caught. If you don't want to steal, find out how much and how long and under what conditions your parents have to pay for you. There should be some way for you to get at least to another EU country.

The point is: You can't be antisocial, making money and travel at the same time.

This is the second guy (not Estonian, advice guy) and I have one thing to tell you: how about you bugger off with "two runaway/life-sucks guys". Other than this:
"Trust me, you might be anti-social and awkward but so am I and I enjoyed spending time with people there." I don't see how I could come off as life-sucks humanhater, I even mention that I enjoy spending time with people in the same sentence. All I want is to become perpetual traveler at a later date, and I was giving the OP advice on that.

You can get sick of travelling constantly. Trust me, I've been to 19 different countries, when you first arrive you don't know what the fuck's going on, you can't speak the language and you are a target for every scam.

Having said that, South America is a good place to travel, lots of different cultures and fairly cheap. Learn some Spanish first, though. ALso, SE Asia around Thailand is good... Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam etc.
