Hey guys, if I go to Scotland, would I need a work permit to work without feeling Mexican?

If so, where do I get one. I'm from Estonia and have a EU passport, if that helps.

You can freely move to Scotland and work there without any problems whatsoever. You can participate in local and european elections as per EU law and you are eligible to everything that a local would be.
You do not need any permits for residence or work for the entire UK and most other EU-15 states.

You're an EU citizen, and like>>64057said, you won't need anything to work in the UK. (Except a job ho ho ho ho ho)

The UK is right at the start of an economic recession. Wait 3-5 years till things get better.

I heard the minimum wages are pretty good though?

I'm fresh out of high school, due to tons of drama/family problems I need a clean slate. So I was thinking of upping and leaving.

I don't care if I have to work full time in some shitty job, rent a tiny room and go to community college for the next few years of my life. I'm not very demanding or materialistic anyway. England seemed like a good choice for that.

Jobs are hard to find and it says something when Polish people are leaving and going back to Poland or to other EU countries.

Where about in scotland do you plan to go to? Make sure it's actually a big city and not one of the really northern ones.

you probably wont be able to afford the cost of living anywhere in the UK. The truth is you probably won't make enough money on your own with a highschool degree you would need to live with family or roomates.

Well shoot. I guess I need to do some more research then. Again though I am very low maintenance, so I assumed I could cut it as long as I stayed outside of London and rented as small and cheaply as possible.

You won't get a good job in the UK unless you have a degree. If you don't have a degree, you'll be working in a place like McDonald's, at minimum wage, which is around £5.70 or something I think.

Actually it's £5.52 for over 22 year olds, and £4.60 for 18-21 year olds. I guess it hasn't gone up yet.

Thanks. I'll look into room rent prices and college fees.

If not the UK, I guess I'll try elsewhere. I can pick up a new language no problem. Too bad I don't know anyone abroad.

If you find a cheap flat shared with some people and work a good few hours a week. You should be fine. Won't be as easy as it was a year or two ago , but you should be able to find a crappy minum wage job that you can work lots of hours in and pay the rent with . If you want to eat things might get tricky,.

My diet consists of canned tuna, water, vegetables, whey and brown rice. I get by on next to no food money all the time.

Time to make friends with people moving to/already living in the UK.. hmm.

Most Scottish immigrants come from East Europe. You'll be fine. We need your labour. Work in the north, enjoy your time here.

I thought Estonia was the Mexico of Europe?
>> Anonymous

the joke is "Poland is the Mexico of Europe" IIRC

>>64199
It's more likely than you think
>> Anonymous
>>64412
It is. We're just smart enough to take advantage of the cheap labour rather than whine about DEM WETBACKS.
