So much to go over...

What are the circumstances of the traveling? Are you going international or domestic? What's your timeframe? Where are you arriving? Where are you leaving from?

We could give you generic advice about arriving at the airport early and having your documents with you (stuff that you should really know just from reading about traveling); or we could offer you gritty personal advice, like to avoid the third stall from the left in the men's bathroom at Dallas Fort Worth's Airport in terminal 3 next to the place that sells chicken.

Okay maybe not that personal, but nearly.

its only a short domestic flight. three hours from a major airport to a smaller one, I'm thinking it should be pretty painless. But I just thought I'd ask for advice from you guys.

Stick as many knives as you can in your hand luggage. Pretend they're spoons.

You'll need an ID, and even though it's a short domestic flight, you'll want to come early. Eat food before you head in. Ideally you'll show up full about an hour early, not get checked for security reasons, and lounge around for nearly an hour while people scurry around to catch their flight.

In a worst-case scenario you'll show up a little late and get flagged to be checked or you'll set something off that flags you down, and you'll end up limping frantically to your gate after being violated by a man with a latex glove.

But you'd have to look like the guy in OP's picture for that to be an even slightly plausible concern.

have either gum or hard candy. This is for when your ears fuck up due to change in air pressure.

if you get traveling sickness, use the baggies in front of your seat. puke, finish puking, and give to hostess.

Yeah, deffo take gum. Chew the gum during take-off and landing. IF you forgot the gum (or something similar) and your ears hurt do the following:
- Pinch your nose so its shut
- Blow your nose hard
- Your ears will pop, pain should be gone.
(divers trick)

Aviator fag here,

Make sure you fly with a decent airline. In China you see planes whose wings wobble during flight. Said planes usually end up making the evening news.

Also, planes should be rather quiet during landing and take-off. If you hear a roaring sound, get the fuck outta there- that's the last thing a man hears before the fuel tank explodes.

Seriously though, there's no "on time" in an airport.
