so, if one wanted to move to another country, and live there, just because one wanted to, how would a visa work out? I see threads around with people saying they are going to move to another country. How does that work? You can't just stay there forever without proper paperwork right?

Depends where you are from. As a UK Citizen, and therefore a European Union Citizen, I can move to any other country in the Union without any hassle. We don't even have our passports stamped when we cross over into different countries in the EU.

what is you are from the us?

>As a UK Citizen

Shouldn't that be "subject" ? given that you still have a Queen, and all ?

no one gives a shit about the Queen. American ideas of what Britain is like provides much lulz.

Oh you and your outdated terminology!

... I stand corrected. Trust the British to need an entire wiki page to define what in other countries is known as a "dude".
Anyway, this may prevent me from inadvertently breaching etiquette someday, so thank you dear "subject of Her Majesty in right of the United Kingdom".

I wasn't criticizing. These things are part of the charm of the UK.

Not him but I'd just like to point out that almost everything you've been told about the UK is probably a lie.

Back onto the original topic: It all depends if you are a "skilled worker" in the eyes of the country that you want to go to. Not so much in the EU as was mentioned since you can just drop into anywhere you want. Also being part of the Commonwealth of Nations helps a lot when moving to those countries. Fucking Brits have 3 "nationalities"

What, you mean you DON'T eat your babies ?

Seriously though, I studied in Oxford, and still visit the UK at times (I'm French, not American). I just didn't catch the update from "British subject" to "British citizen/subject of Her Majesty in right of the United Kingdom".

Oh, and you SHOULD give a shit about your (most gracious) Queen. Or cut her head off. What's the point of having royalty, else ?

I would like nothing more than to kill every single on of them. They are totally useless. The problem is, no one else would help me :(

I'm from Australia, there are a LOT of international students here. When I ask them why they chose Australia, most - if not all - of them say it was because it was easy to get a student visa for. You can just arrive on a Visa, get a job at some place while you study, and get that job to say they need/want you to stay, and it's not that hard to try and stay here then.

Because just about all unis have been forced to focus on revenue raising instead of adacemic output, scientific/artistic inquiry, etc

if you are serious about university....go to the US. Lower education system is of debatable quality (I wouldn't know, my parents paid 10k a year to send me to a Jesuit school), but nothing beats the US collegiate selection. before you whine about how much more the US Government pays for defense spending over education you have to realize that the DoD throws ungodly amounts of money in the direction of the hard science and engineering programs at universities....they paid for an entirely new shock physics building at mine. The US has a lot of really nice universities, a majority of the world-class ones.

There is a small league of top notch schools and a vast pool of shitty institutions that are basically extended High Schools and which the majority of the native population attends.
