Well, I go to OSU, so I know firsthand. You're going to be living on campus, which is pretty safe, but you're probably going to be having a meal plan and won't be able to cook for yourself. In that case, go to Mirror Lake Cafe or Marketplace (But stay away from East/West because it is totally not good for you). Those places are the best to eat food ON CAMPUS. If you dont have a meal plan, there are a lot of different kinds of food all down High Street to try. If you're 21, there are bars right off campus on High Street you can go to.
If you like art, down past High Street and King Ave there is The ShortNorth, which is the art district. Every first weekend of the month there is gallery hop and people just go around from gallery to gallery looking at different art, enjoying the company of your friends and meeting new people. A lot of times there will be live music at places and there are a lot of places to go for food. If youre down there you should try Jennys Ice Cream, I heard its really good. As for shopping, there is Easton Town Center and Polaris, both of which have amazing stores to choose from.
There are always tons of bands coming to Columbus, so youll have to look out for what is happening at the Newport, Skullys, Brothers, etc. You can go to the Shoenion, which is the Union that is located in the football stadium (The Shoe) and get discount tickets with your BuckID for anything a lot of things happening in Columbus, like ballets, concerts, admission to the art museum, etc. There are a lot of people in Columbus, so there is always something going on here. If you have any more questions, Id be glad to answer them.
