columbia gorge Anonymous
Does anyone know of a good cabin to rent in the Columbia River Gorge? Preferably on the Oregon side, but a Washington is fine too.

We're looking for a cabin that's at least 1/4 mile from any other occupied building, willing to drive or even hike in if needed, and only require a woodstove in addition to the basics like plumbing. We could even do without electricity for a night or two. Preferably with trailheads nearby for snowshoeing or hiking.

I've googled until my head hurt, seen a lot of cabins for rent, been all over craigslist. Nothing quite fit and we're not going to settle for anything less than perfect. Do you know the secret ideal cabin /trv?

Not familiar with the area, but what I'd do since you've already googled your brains out is get on the us forest service site. http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/columbia/ and go to their contact us page and make some calls. There's a bunch of #'s on their site. Also the Colombia river visitors association has a site http://www.crgva.org/ that has a lodging page and a contact page. Good luck!
