Hey /trv/ I'm thinking of doing some backpacking around southeast asia early next year, thailand, vietnam and cambodia most likely. Has anyone here been there and have insider tips? Like the stuff you can't get in a guide book.
>Has anyone here been thereno, no white man has ever penetrated the exotic virgin southeast-asian paradiseI bid you luck on your pioneer endeavour
>>63860Your sarcasm is appreciated.
>>63859Backpacking in Thailand would probably be pretty rad but I would shy away from Cambodia and Vietnam though. Those countries still have some of the highest concentrations of land minds in the world due to the fun times that were had back in the 60s and 70
Went to cambodia: Siem Reap. It was an arranged tour. You should definately check out Agkor Wat and Agkor Thom. Dont know what you'd experience from backpacking. I know that its dirty as fuck over there. You can buy gasoline from roadside vendors in 2L soda bottles everywhere for $1. I was told it could be dangerous at night because there are a lot of people out there that prey on tourists. Its a really poor country and they do most of their transactions in US dollars. Vietnamese businesses with strong government connections screw over the local people.
>>63868rofl @ americawhy 4chan, op? wikitravel.org exists you know, and doesn't spew out shitty advice like those above.

Fuck Cambodia and Thailand. You'll step on a landmine and die.
