I'm thinking of visiting Italy sometime in mid April. I don't plan on going down south, except maybe to Napoli for a day. What prices should I expect for hostels and if at all possible, how could I taste some local cuisine and not get ripped off just because I'm a tourist? I don't want to end up eating in Burger Kings and KFC's all the way.

Pic related.

there are probably 10 burger kings in all the country and no KFC. Don't worry about that.
As for Napoli, fucking go there. It's like the second most beautiful city in Italy (the first one being Torino, my city)

Basically stay the fuck out of anything 5 miles from bastardized tourist spots(for trying food at least). This includes the Leaning tower of pizza, the entire city of florence, and some parts of rome. They charge $30 for a crappy pizza pie and a side of tomatoes & mozzarella made the wrong way.

It can be difficult to find a place to eat though, as some restraunts look like houses and only open for a few hours. Ask around the hostels for good places to eat. I'm sure the managers/underlings have a handful of good picks.

When you go into shops remember to say buon journo or they'll think it really rude. And probably put their cock in your food.

Thanks anons, that's pretty much what I expected to be true, but it doesn't hurt to check.
