I'm a Korean American who's going to Japan with some friends in a couple weeks. I know there's a lot of animosity between Japan and Korea, so how would I be treated? What would they do if they found out I was Korean, and would it change their minds if they found out I was also American?

Just get the passport photo page blown up and put on a shirt, wear a US flag bandanna, and sleep with a flag in your ass, and you'll be all set bro!

Just speak English the entire time and you'll be fine. Bonus internets if you make sure to tell them you're from New York/LA/Chicago (just about the only cities they know).

Korean-Korean here (living in Canada atm)

You probably wouldn't face any problems as long as you don't stir shit up. I mean, korean tourists often go to Japan and unfurl banners about Dokdo, and the japanese just stare and walk by (then rage on the internet)

In my experience there's been no problems with Japanese. If you go back to Korea you'll see that there's lots of them in the country for all sorts of reasons, and I hear it's the same the other way around. Angry nationalists are mostly an internet phenomenon, most of which spurred on by teenage boys. Real life is pretty civil

In general, japanese don' have interested in korean tourists.
What you should mind is not to behave arrogantly.
