Balkans & Eastern Europe Anonymous
Me and my friend are going to Eastern Europe and the Balkans over the summer, basically I want to know good places to visit/stay in/go out in the following countries:

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia as well as anywhere else you suggest taking a detour to.

I don't have tickets for anything apart from flights so the exact route will probably depend on your suggestions.

Pick one of these and go visit, try to avoid the ZOMG TOURIZMCAMPs though. I guarantee a profound experience.

visit greece and turkey while you're at it

from the information you have given, you are going to the baltic countries, not the balkans

Skip that whole shit and visit all the Balkan Countries, Croatia, Montenenegro, Serbia, and then down to Greece.

skip out on the shit countries like latvia, lithuania, estonia and slovenia, and go to Russia, Ukraine and Belarus instead.

In the Ukraine you can take a tour of Chernobyl, although from what I've heard you cant enter the buildings. Despite the visitors, the place is just about untouched from the disaster, and you still see old junk/toys/etc lying on the ground. That would be fascinating.

It's a fair detour but I'd also recommend visiting Iran after the Balkans. Despite what you might guess, it would easily be safer for a tourist than any of the other countries you listed, even if you're American.

>>latvia, lithuania, estonia and slovenia = EU

Actually, I>>36704, am Turkish and I recommended OP to visit both Turkey and Greece - because they kinda go together in terms of culture, history and scenery. About poisoning, don't eat crap from shady looking places in Greece and you'll be fine. In Turkey, however, there is arsenic in the tapwater.

You do realize that 3 out of 4 of those shithole countries he named were in the Soviet Union right?

>>36842
Canadian actually (Hungarian heritage, you should still check out Budapest). I just think those four countries are boring as fuck compared to what you could be seeing instead. Hmmm Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Red Square, Chernobyl, many more famous historical sites vs..a whole lotta nothing.

Plus I hear the Baltics are full of Nazi sympathizers.

Against communism does not mean for nazi. Dipshit.

Baltics are quite boring for conventional tourism. But motorbikefags can find some great gravel roads there.

If you are already going to slovenia, you might as well check out croatia (the coast and islands, since you'll be there during the summer). That's it for the ex-yu balkans. Bosnia - no highways, shitty roads, montenegro just isn't worth time you'd spend getting there and serbia is a shithole.

They aren't nazi because they are against communism.

The Baltics are Nazi sympathizers. Not because they're against communism, that's ridiculous, that would mean the rest of Europe would be Nazi sympathizers too. No, they've actually tried to erect a statue of Nazi war "heroes" who defected to Germany during the war, but the EU started bawwing so they removed it after a few days.

That shit doesn't go on in Poland, Czech republic, Ukraine etc..I mean every country has its share of neo-Nazi 20 year olds who think they're being cool and rebellious, but the in the Baltics it's a much different situation.
