Any been-to-Nepal fags here?

I'm off in a week or so to do the whored out trek up to Everest Base Camp + Gokyo Lakes with 7 days left open at the end of it. Any ideas other than the usual 'zomg Chitwan + whitewater rafting'? I kinda want to do something totally untouristy because I hate tourists/being one.

Pic = the beautiful Gokyo village sitting on the shores of Gokyo 3, taken from Gokyo Ri.

pokhara is a nice touristy place to chill, not as much hassle as kathmanudu.

Bandipur though if you want to escape tourists (tho you will find them there. it's town between Kth and Pok. a few good guesthouses and the best views in the world. i spent a week there and just rambled about across the countryside and the hills, talking to random nepali bumpkins and being amazed by the women climbing the steep rocks. here's a pic of the view from bandipur and a tree i climbed.

Chur for that.

I've read Nagarkot and Bhaktapur are both very worthy places to go in the Kathmandu Valley that aren't as infested as Ktm itself. Also Lumbini, the birth place of Buddha has been recommended to me too as it's faitly close to Chitwan, but I'll have to totally brush up on my Nepalese because English is virtually unheard of. I'll have to czech out Bandipur.

nepalese is quite simple to speak. most verb forms have a shortened informal form.
so Jahn- go
Jahn-ne -let's go, shall we go? are you going? etc..

oh and bring some pens and pencils to give to the kids.
