Anyone been to or live in Russia? What's it like?

It is very much like living in purgatory. It is cold, and people are poor. Most people are alcoholics or schizophrenic. The laws are still very strict, there is still much of the old Soviet government beureucracies that have power.
There is no reason to visit or live here. The country of Brazil has more economic power then this country.

I've lived a few years of my life their, Its not bad at all. I lived in St.Petersburg Beautiful city. We got cossack family in southern Russia so we go go there on trips sometimes its very green there.

Its not much different from any other country and I've lived in Argentina, America(currently), Ukraine and I've visited Finland, Sweden and Italy.

Sure you got some people with no money out on the country side but thats just the way they live their lives.

I've been in St.Petersburg last year and it was quite beautiful, but at all costs avoid the police if you don't look too Slavic.

As a Belorussian who now resides in Los Angeles, California, I can honestly agree with this statement. The country is beautiful, the women are attractive, and, if you understand the language, the culture and literature is captivating, but living there is not particularly amazing. If you have money and can like in Moscow, or any other urbanized city, you should be fine. The villages are rather shabby though, even if the same can be said for small towns in America.
