Going to mexico Anonymous
i live in Arizona and am planning on driving to Mexico this summer and i don't know if i need a passport or if i can just use my birth certificate and a drivers license i would really appreciate the help cause i don't want to have to spend $100+ if i don't have to

Texan here. I've been driving my own car in Mexico for years.

I believe currenlty you don't need a passport (again). But you do need:

1. to pay a small fee in Mexico as soon as you enter which stickers your US car and lets you drive it. you get some of the money back when you return.

2. Mexican Auto Insurance. yours is no good down there past the first 50 miles.

As long as they are goverment checkpoints. When your talking about those run by mean people with automatic weapons, you are going to be lucky to keep your lives.

um, I don't know if you've heard about this or not, but now you need a passport to get into Mexico and Canada from the US.
