Over my years, I've realized something:
Not a lot of people off the continent comprehend just how big this country is.
>> Anonymous
Your point being???
>> Anonymous
Your country size comes in second on your own continent of 4 countries.

Americunt.
>> Anonymous
>>65728
I'm not saying we're the biggest on the continent, when did I ever claim that it was? I'm simply saying that from my observations that people who aren't from North America don't know just how big America is. I'd imagine that applies to Canada as well, but I wouldn't know.
>> Anonymous
okay, thanks. so people are unfamiliar with what is effectively an alien world to them, regarding size and proportion.
groundbreaking, man.

I've driven from New Orleans to Denver to Seattle to Chicago to New York to Houston to L.A. then back to New Orleans. Really, this country's not all that big. The one thing that really amazes me though is how much culture can change within 6 hours drive time. The difference between New Orleans and Houston alone is staggering.

i think that when he hears eurofags say somethign about america that they don't realize how fucking big it is and therfore how fucking diverse it is and when you stereotype it thats pretty fucking lame
>> Anonymous

The point is Europeans act like know-it-alls, they are blind to their own stupidity. Then again dumb, self-righteous, arrogant Europeans are nothing new either.
>> Anonymous
Yes its very big & youre stuck taking a plane or driving to the place you want to get. Too bad we dont have a good train system. I would take that shit daily.
>> Anonymous
>>65760
NYC has a good train system, but, yes, it's too bad public transit in the US sucks. Even in CT, one of the richest states in the US, they basically halved the number of bus stops in the New Haven metro area a few years back. Rich people aren't going to pay for transport for the poor.
>> Anonymous
lol stfu.
I'm European and i travelled trough most of the states and your Country isn't that big.
Oh and funny how you bitch about stereotypes and still stereotype "Europeans", which are by far more diverse.
>> Anonymous
>>65762
Atleast NYC has something im near Albany and this shit has nothing. Public transport is probably the worst here. Seem trains but most of it is cargo & the amtrack/etc trains run to buffalo, nyc, boston, etc etc only.

I live in Australia. We own the entire continent as well as being one of the biggest countries in the world.

Pretty sure this is one up on you Amerifags.

America fucking sucks. The whole place is a total shithole except for a small portion of the Northeast which almost keeps up with Europe culturally.

The US is a beautiful country. Unfortunately, quite a few of the people are sub-educated and deeply religious. Coupled with the fact that the government is driving the place into the dirt, it doesn't make it appealing to live. If the border security doesn't piss you off too much, it's a great place to go for hiking, camping, and other nature-based activities.

so no, America is big but certainly not diverse.

Good to hear. I haven't used it. The layout of NYC's subway system isn't really optimized, because it was built so long ago. I hope DC's doesn't suffer from that problem.
>>65813
It is more diverse in some parts and less in others. That's the diversity of its diversity :) For example, Deerborn, MI - very high Arab population. Middle of TN, not so many Arabs. Many ethnic groups have their own "towns": Little India (Jackson Heights in Queens, NYC), Little Italy, Chinatowns in many cities, Koreatown, the Creole group in Louisiana, Indians (more or less native to the Americas), significant population of African ancestry... the list goes on.

I'm not entirely convinced Europe is more diverse than the US, just because you can drive a shorter distance and encounter people who speak a different language and whose customs and food are marginally different.
>> Anonymous
Europe is very diverse. There are many kinds of white people.
>> Anonymous
>>65823
This.
>> Anonymous
>>65821
I think you may have lost the meaning of the word "diversity". Liberals in the US have politicized the word to mean a synonym for race-mixing and affirmative-action. When you talk about diversity in the US you aren't talking about diversity in history, architecture, music, art, literature, language, law, government etc. This is real diversity like you find in Europe. You are calling spics, niggers and Arabs lumped together in a city "diversity". Sure, it's racially diverse, but culturally it's a baron wasteland.

Agreed. The USA has become brainwashed into believing that if a city doesn't have a significant African population than it isn't diverse.

This just proves a point.
Europeans only think their diverse if their cities don't have different cultures, for example the african american's.
>> Anonymous
>>65830
The history of the US is very diverse, beginning at, let's say, the 1400s when the colonization of that diverse group from Europe began. Spanish, Dutch, French, British, etc. all came to the land that is now the US and started cutting it up, not to mention the Indians who were already there.

The architecture is also varied, examples being the buildings in the northeast and the adobe houses of the southwest. There's also loads of different music types. Which country spawned the blues, which in turn spawned rock and roll which in turn gave birth to etc.? There is also a wide variety of literature of western philosophical drivel from different aspects of feminism to slam poetry to spoken word read in coffee houses.

Even though English is the primary language, it differs so much from north to south that people have difficultly understanding each other at times. In the early beginnings of Appalachia, the dialect was so markedly different in small areas that if you crossed over the hillside, you wouldn't be able to understand your neighbor!

Laws vary so much that you can move to a different city or county or state even if you don't find the local laws acceptable. That was one of the main designs behind the local -> state -> federal authority, although this model has basically been destroyed today. While much of Europe has historically followed some version of monarchy, the checks and balances system between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the US government was unique at its time of inception.

I will concede to you that the US doesn't really have a culture. It's an amalgamation of other cultures. However, I'm still not convinced by your arguments that Europe is more diverse. It may be more linguistically diverse, but it's more or less homogenized. You don't really have abject poverty in the EU like there is in many parts of the US. I asked my German teacher why he majored in "US studies" (which is apparently a major in a few parts of the world) and he told me that in Europe, everything is more or less dull normal. In the US, you have the best things and at the same time, the worst things.

Insecure faggot internet trolls will pick out whatever minor difference they can to keep your stupid international pissing contest going. If it weren't for racial demographics, language, geographic size, population size, or the height of some ugly old building they can pick out some other worthless statistic from the CIA factbook or perhaps the UN human development index to lord over those other people on the other side of the ocean. They're faggots and you're a moron for biting and I'm a moron for getting worked up enough about this to spell it out for you. Fuck me for typing this up.

Just give up and concede that America is only really 230 years old. Pick one: France, Germany, England, Italy. All of these countires have given more to the world than America. I'm talking about historical influence, language, architecture, art, music and general intellectual accomplishments. This is what I call cultural diversity. Diversity in America is about whether or a black guy or a Mexican serves your food.

America is much older than that. However, the US is about 230 years old. In the areas of architecture, art, music and "general intellectual accomplishments", Europe seems to be variations of a same general underlying theme. A mud house and the creations of Frank Lloyd Wright exemplify a broader range of diversity to me than, say, two different types of castles, just using architecture as an example.
