I'm travelling to Ireland and I was wondering what /trv/ recommends for exchanging currencies (also, how much should I have available in cash for 17 days in Ireland only responsible for gifts, lunch, and night life/pubs) and what are the tips for beating jetlag? We arrive in Dublin at around 9:10 AM and I want to make the most of my time there but I would also like to be awake for the latter part of the plane ride. I have 1,300 USD to go over with so I was wondering where should I exchange some money for Euros and where will I get the best rates, the US or Ireland?

You're going to spend all your money and then some, don't worry about it. And exchange rates are always the same unless you get it on the black market, and you can only do that in shitty countries.

For the jetlag drink yourself asleep on the plane or eat a pot brownie beforehand.

Don't be afraid to go the Belfast, theres only a 10% chance of getting stabbed and bombs only go off once in a while these days, its a lot of fun and its cheaper since everyone's unemployed.

Dublin's a lot of fun too but its a shitty little version of New York, head out to the countryside and see the sites and spend time in the smaller cities.

BTW Eirefags can you please go back to being poor so you can be my country's playground again.

I've lived in Ireland for almost a year, a bit north of Dublin Airport (small town called Swords).

Dublin is nice, but if you want to enjoy the nightlife then be prepared to lose a fuckton of money if your liver is tougher then a cookie. A pint of beer goes for around 5€, a pack of cigarettes for 7€. Even the shittiest B&Bs are fucking expensive compared to most of (continental) europe and the Irish actually do spend all of the day with drinking - if you hate fratboys then enjoy drunk irishmen at 4 in the afternoon hooliganing around in Dublin.

Oh, if you want to enjoy the classical imagination of Ireland (green meadows, sheep, all is great) then go to the south of to the west and AVOID Dublin

The trip I'm on starts in Dublin but then circles the Island, we'll be in Sligo, Killarney, Antrim, Waterford, Galway, etc...

Where/when is the best time to exchange my money, state's side or Irish side? I planned on using my debit card for all gift/souvenir purchases but the cash question is just something I have on my mind as far as buying drinks and stuff like that.

I'd guess stateside, seeing as how the dollar is actually used there and the Euro makes the Dollar look like Monopoly play money
