Holy shit, I would love to go on a road trip with my brother. We mapped it out once. Starting from north Georgia and heading north, it comes to roughly 15,000 miles, 1-2 months of travel (depends on how much time we spend laying around), and something to the tune of $10,000-$15,000 (depends on how fast we move and how much camping we do. And gas prices.).

Five oil changes, a full set of tires, possibly enough wear to finish the car off, and something like 600 gallons of gas. Trip will range from Fairbanks, Alaska at its northern extremity to Key West, Florida in the south. From New England in the east to San Diego and Anchorage in the west.

It will be holy fuckwin. We have it scheduled for a few years away.

Picture very related.

Talk about a slow board.

This is the car we plan to use.

We call it the road trip to end all road trips, since this trip will be so epic in scope that when anyone after decides to go on a road trip, they'll just say, "Ah, what's the point?"

So get your trips in within about five years.

They're moderately decent. I get a bit cranky being in a car with the same sweaty bastards for like two weeks, but other wise things went well. Here's some i can think of really quickly:

KY -> NY: We dipped down through TN and around the Appalachian Mountains, because my mom doesn't like driving through them for some reason. Then, went up to Cooperstown, NY to see the baseball hall of fame. We were really into baseball as kids. Next, to Long Island to visit family. Saw a Mets game and generally pissed about for a week or so.

KY -> FL: Did a lot of the touristy shit kids like to do in FL like Disney, Epcot (the best), Kennedy Space Center, Sea World, etc.

KY <-> OH many times seeing family and friends

OH -> CO: Drove across I-70 with this girl i was seeing at the time and she flew me back. Win. Was only there for a couple days, so we drove up to some nature preserve that looked like it was raped to shit by Shell and they were forced into fencing it off and rebuilding it.

OH <-> MI a few times moving equipment

OH <-> CT a few times moving across the country and coming back to see people

CT -> Montreal: Fucking win, except the enormous faggot that drove us up there. We basically only went with him, because he set up the trip, was driving, booked the hotel, and knew the city.

CT -> NH/VT: Friend had family up there. Stayed for a few days and had a blast. Building fires, riding go carts, setting off fireworks, playing in the pool, etc.

AZ -> CA: MILF i was seeing had family out there. Crashed at her grandma's place because her mom wasn't down with her shagging a younger guy. Visited a few places in CA in the desert and went to the Getty.

probably lots more. Those are just a few.

Oh! also, when i was in AZ for the first time, the MILF i was seeing just let me have her car one day while she was at work, so i took it out for an hour or so driving around Sedona area, whipping around curvy roads at 60+MPH.

In the DR, i've been to everywhere pretty much except the northwest and extreme southwest of the country, mostly by bus. One time, a friend invited me to go with her family to the very eastern side of the island for this holiday. I didn't know that it was like this huge religious pilgrimage to an enormous church thing. They bought some candles, stood in line for an hour, and did some religious stuff. They got me to walk through the church, which was honestly frightening, because i hadn't been in a church in like 12 years at that point. We took two matching SUVs out there and back. Apparently, her boyfriend's brother is a major league baseball player. I had no idea. The SUVs were his and he basically funded the trip. The family made some food, which we stopped on the road to eat along the way. Despite the stereotype of people from the US being hated in many parts of the world, people in my travels have really gone out of the way to make me feel comfortable and at home.
