Once, during an Inter-Continental flight, (Chicago O'Hare - Frankfurt-Am-Main, I think) someone on my flight had a heart attack or something along those lines, we made an emergency night landing at the Reykjavík airport. It sucked, it was night and snowing, so I couldn't see shit, and it delayed the flight by a lot.

They don't use last names because most of them are just "Lars's son" or "Peter's daughter".

Icelandic women seem to get an uncontrollable urge to mate whenever they hear an Australian accent.

At least, that was my experience of the place.
Also, Brennivín.
Also, don't eat the Hákarl or frankly any of the Þorramatur unless you feel like being horribly and violently ill.

Iceland, officially the Republic of Iceland (Icelandic: Ísland or Lýðveldið Ísland; IPA: [?liðv?lt?? ?istlant]) is a country in northern Europe, comprising the island of Iceland and its outlying islets in the North Atlantic Ocean between the rest of Europe and Greenland.[1] It is the least populous of the Nordic countries and the second smallest; it has a population of about 316,000 (April 1, 2008 estimate) and a total area of 103,000 km². went there. it was awesome. also have a friend who immigrated from there, guess he didn't want to fish.

great to visit. seems most of the coffeeshops / cafe places transform into bars / clubs at some point. they party late (to my yankee standards) and in may / june it doesn't get dark at night but just dimmer. good coffee, great baristas. i'd take a guess at what they do all winter when it's permadark, just based on the used book market and # of baby carriages around. :D

pylsur for the win, too.

I live there. Reykjavik is a fun place to party, and it's also nice to go out of town to visit glaciers and stuff...But apart from partying and landscape, there isn't much else that can be said for the place. And it's fucking expensive! Also, since the smoking-ban last year, the atmosphere at the pubs and clubs has gone really weird.
Maybe it's time to move.
