If I have been on a year long exchange to japan when i was in highschool, how easy will it be to get a visa to go there again? Canadian, btw.

visa to visit, to work? details man. I think you can visit for up to 90 days w/o a visa if you're from the US or Canada. A work permit is a different story.

school was pretty good. Met some friends there that later moved to Canada, it's awright.

I dunno, I was thinking that if you had a good group of friends you could have some fun unless you get placed into a school like that guy^. On my (2 week school trip) exchange in Japan I had a blast hanging out with my host and her friends.
Really a shame you didn't get to site see. What city were you in? Also, that seems to a be a strange twist that some of your school mates later moved to Canada.
