Hey /trv/, first time poster here.

I'm a college student, probably like a good amount of people here, but I go to school 3,000 miles away from home. Due to this, I find myself taking flights back home often (about 2 flights every 3 months) and I'm in need of a more spacious backpack. I use my school one at the moment, but I find it lacks real space when packing my stuff in it. I avoid using checked luggage due to the whole "oops we lost it lol" thing. Anyway, regarding this, can you recommend some good packs that I could possibly purchase to make my traveling easier? I'm looking for carry-on ability as well as comfort, as I would use it for just about everything. Cost isn't really an issue, but I'd prefer something somewhat on the cheaper side, due to being a somewhat poor bastard. If it's worth it though, I'll splurg.

Pic related only in the fact it's a backpack.

Go to a backpacking store that sells quality products and get fitted for one. Don't buy a pack online or at wal-mart.

my advice... if you have a friend with a backpack already, use his/her. they've already been used, and ready for travel. new pack backs take a while to break in.

OP here. My roommates seems to like to either use their own school packs or duffle bags to travel with. Breaking one in isn't really too much of an issue, but I can see how it would help the comfort-side of it. I'm not entirely sure of the sporting goods stores in the area, so I'll have to check on that. I wasn't aware they had store specifically for back-packs, so that's something I'll also need to find out too, if there's one around here.
