Hi /trv/, got a question for you.

I've always wanted to live in Venice, and I've finally found the opportunity. My only real problem is finding work there. I'm a professional costume designer, so I'd love to work for a company that creates Carnival costumes(many people rent their costumes instead of making them themselves). If that doesn't work out, I'm also an experienced pastry chef, so I could possibly find work in a bakery or cafe. My only worry, however, is that both of these industries are probably controlled by small, family-based shops that would be against hiring outsiders. Can anyone tell me if this is true, and if so, how hard it's likely to be to break into either of these businesses? Thanks.

When I went there, most shops were family run, but if you know Italian and English or some other language, you'll be hired because venice is an international tourist spot...so I'm pretty sure you will be able to find a job... if all else fails, get your own shop.

you saw aria didn't you ?
