hey /trv/,

i have this fantasy about just travelling the world for around about 10 years or so, drinking the world in and just enjoying life. im worried about my finances though.

anyone got any tips on how to make money while on extended trips overseas? ive heard of seasonal jobs like fruit picking in summer and working on ski resorts and stuff like that in winter...but does it really get you very far? id like to hear from some experienced backpackers.

It always depends, anon. If you will travel across Oz, which is like a world trip itself, you can always do some kitchen hand/labor work to make money. There are always farm works as well. No need a tax file number, when its summer, they'll hire anyone because all the Aussies are sunbathing and being breakfast to sharks. Get a tent, and ask the random old people if you can stay in their backyard for a day. free accommodation at the risk of being eaten by spiders.

If you go to Europe, finding a job might be harder, but not impossible. you can even get your food money from begging or just asking random strangers on the street.

Middle east, erm, dont. Cheap places but only if you have enough money saved and are experienced.

Canada, can make money easily. Casual under-the-table jobs like in Aus, pay well.
You can go to Alaska from there and do some meat packaging and shoveling and then you should be fine.

Then go to America and die from poverty.

Been to a lot of places myself, backpacking a few years ago. Dont know if its changed so much but if you reserve money for your return ticket from anywhere [like 3 Gs for that], do it
