Hotels in Melbourne Anonymous
Hey /trv/, I'm gonna be in Melbourne for 8 nights in Sept. I'm looking at a couple of places in Central Melb (Oaks on Collins, another one i can't remember the name of).

Annnnyway, I was hoping /trv/ might have some suggestions for decent places to stay for less than $150 a night in the city. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

WAfag out.

Stay at a backpackers place, it will be really cheap and fun, and you'll likely meet some cool people too! Just google 'backpackers' or 'youth hostel' with 'Melbourne' and you should be able to find heaps of places, right in the center of the city.
Or you could stay for free at my house! Depending on who you are...

I stayed at the city stay budget hotel last time I was in Melbourne and really didn't enjoy it (single room... room ftl). I want my own bathroom and small kitchenette. I'm not good with sharing :P

You can still get that from different hostels, it will cost a bit more but will still be cheaper than a hotel.

You can usually get single rooms at YHA. If you join up before you leave home you'll get a discount.
Some YHAs require you to use a "sleeping sheet" - a light sleeping bag - for hygiene. They'll rent you one but it's better to take your own.

I've actually stayed at Oaks on Collins when visiting from Adelaide (I'm an Ausfag). It's pretty comfortable and near stuff.

I hope you are avoiding Melbourne during Grand Final weekend. Hotels are charging like wounded bulls, doubling their prices.

He's a WAfag. Probably an Eagles supporter. Doesn't know what a Grand Final is.

At least I didn't vote for John Brumby. Actually, nobody's voted for John Brumby...
