I'm landing in Narita in about 26 hours. What are the immigration procedures like there? Are they gonna rifle through all my bags looking for uncensored porn, breaking my gifts in the process? Do they drill you with questions? Play bad cop with you? Mandatory rectal probes?
Dunno if it's relevant, but I'm on a 1 year college visa.

in b4 "tonberryfag," whatever that shit is. also pic unrelated.

lol, shit OP I just posted in the thread a couple below this (Osaka) about it. reposting:

I've gone through Narita immigration before. It was easy as pie. FYI though, they take your finger prints and photo. Didn't take more then 5 min, including standing in line.

Good luck! I wish I could sleep on planes... I stayed up for the entire flight to Japan + transfer from Narita to Kansai. I think I was awake for 20 hours and my eyes were demonicly bloodshot XD.

just went this summer from atlanta to narita , it was pretty fast since most of the people were still getting their luggage and shit & we landed late at night where no one was there with most of the shops closed.

normal as any country they just check your baggage but dont check your laptop or anything. im not sure about porn mags but i think they should understand

Required if you're a foreigner entering Japan. Also, you're required to carry around your pass at all times. LOL terrorism.

same stuff when getting in to 'merica

my own fucking state doesn't have my fingerprints

oh well, they're an american puppet anyways, so I sort of skipped the middle-management

I had this hot glasses-clad girl for immigration and she was pretty rough. Her English wasn't all that great so it took her a little while to get what I told her my purpose for travel was(school trip) but she eventually let me through. She didn't seem too happy though :|

poster 52295 here, just remembered that the fingerprint + photo came first and then had to go down stairs to the baggage claim. Then you go with your bags to customs and all they did was ask me my purpose (school trip). So the whole process probably took 15 min.

Things to keep in mind: A) I traveled with a school group so it may have been easier to get through and B) There weren't many international flights coming in at the time.

Last time I was in Narita there were these hot customs chicks in uniforms and white gloves giving everyone the feel. I was hoping to get some of that but they must have seen the look in my eyes because they just waved me through.

Guess OP is on the plane now. Hopefully he'll come back to /trv/ and tell us how he was detained in Narita for 8 hrs due to possession of tentacleless porn.

I dont see why the fucking customs officers should have the right to ask you "why' you are here! Whenever you were already fucking asked at fucking immigration!!!! "Oh, but that "gaijin" told ME he was here for business...Im solly sil, but you can not enter Japan as you told us some lies. You told immigration that you were here for pleasure, but, whenever I asked you WHY you were here you said, business ...Sorry, fuck off back home, and make sure you read a book on Japanese culture before you come over next time"

Next time someone asks you if you read a book about Japanese culture, why dont YOU ask them if they have ever read a book about American or British culture? If they say no, and they have been to(which ever country) tell them that its even, and also, that their culture is no more special than everybody else's.

They don't and your answer doesn't matter. It's just a thing they do, not unlike cab drivers talking about the weather.

In reference to your tripfag - did you by any chance get the Foreign Ministry of Japan scholarship / whatever? A friend of mine is actually studying in that university, under that scholarship. Another acquitance of mine is thru that one and currently on Toudai... Good luck.
