I lived in Chicago until I was 15, and now have been living in a suburb 15 minutes outside of it for the past 4 years.

I want to get the fuck out of here, where do you suggest?

I need to stay in the US, but I would prefer a year round warm climate so I can ride my bike at any time of the year. I'd have a job making around $12.45 minimum, depending on where I transferred to in the US.

I'm just overall bored with this city and sick of its bullshit.

france, ireland, belgium, the netherlands, australia, all have minimum wages over US$12.50. and we all have universal health and decent social security.

enjoy your poverty and shorter life expectancy

Hey OP, I live out in the western suburbs (Elgin, St. Charles and the like), and have been looking for more to do than going to The Art Institute and a occasional concert.

As for you suggestion, Seattle maybe a okay choice. It gets on the cold side, but snow is rare, and the constant rain is usually a drizzle, and not dramatic pooring. I'd say [insert California city, not LA] but I have never been there.

Holy shit minimum wage is based on costs of living you stupid assholes. If you get more for minimum wage, you are paying more for shit. God damn, use your heads.

it's not cost of living, it's standard of living. do you really think that the cost of living in belgium or australia is 2x that in the us? especially since we can easily just go on the dole, and still get more than people on your minimum wage? and when we get sick, health care is free. you are not just insured if you have a good job (and can afford the bills anyway)

How the hell do businesses stay afloat paying people so much?

... i don't know why you mentioned france for health care.. it's going in the dumps. but we'll see how socialized health care works in the coming years.

by offering quality goods and services

we dont have as many billionaires per capita, but the standard of living is higher. there is a big difference between staying afloat and being a fortune500 company.

Right, but supermarkets right? They make money here, but not super rich amounts of money. So if everyone is paid 2x minimum wage compared to Americans, how do they stay afloat?

I actually had a friend move to Seattle and he has yet to make a friend in the several years he's lived there. He told me it's like the north side of Chicago, except a lot gayer and uptight. But yeah I was thinking of California, especially since I already have friends there, but outside of the major cities I don't know if I'd be able to afford that.

Which part of the north side? If it's the one I'm thinking of, Seattle's gotta be REALLY gay.

Walmart isn't what he was talking about, he was talking about grocery stores. Walmart is some sort of giant megastore.

Well I mean it sort of depends on what your skills are, if you're in the tech industry you could get a job in the san francisco bay area but it's pretty competitive.

smaller places still make money - things are more expensive, but not (even close to) twice as much.

we also have programmes where employers get a subsidy for hiring niggers or handicapped people, but i doubt that is the difference between most businesses being in the black or red

our dole is above your minimum wage. and i know which of the two i'd rather be living from
