How much money do you have, and where does your sister live?

You can spend just a few hundred if you buy them a year in advance. How long until you leave?

I bought my tickets to Japan last year from bt-store.com. It's one of those consolidator shops, so the usual sketchiness comes along with it, but I got my tickets for like $800 w/ taxes incl. when everwhere else was like $1000. If it's not much cheaper, I'd rather book through the airline. Kayak is a good price comparison site. It checks on the search engines (expedia, travelocity) and the airline websites.

wego.com is a good flight search engine
