If I wanted to go live in a different country.
What are the procedures I would have to take?
I plan on going to live in either Japan or the UK when I finish college.

How would I get all my stuff there?
What papers do I have to fill out?
Who do I have to talk to?

Thanks in advance

I think if you want to travel to virtually any place besides the US, you'll be fine with whatever kind of visa they have, which might take a couple months to process. Go to their local embassy and ask them yourself or go to the websites.

If you plan on going to the US if you're not already from there, hoo boy just give up now. Getting a visa there is fucking impossible unless you have a reason or someone to vouch for you.

It's a lot easier to apply for residence in the UK than it is in Japan. For starters, Japanese citizenship is near impossible to get, unless you were born there. The cost of living in both countries is also absurdly high compared to America. As for moving your stuff, sell off your furniture on Craigslist or something, because the shipping costs are absurd, it will take weeks to arrive, and it will most likely arrive damaged. It's better just to buy new furniture when you get there.

Your best hope moving to the UK is the BUNAC visa but that will just enable you to live and work for a few months. If you are amazingly qualified and employable a company may be willing to sponsor a work visa for you. They do the paperwork and everything for you though so you have to be pretty invaluable.

I don't know why people think the UK is easy to move to, it's not (unless you are an EU resident). Even if you are married to a British citizen it's tough. Also you require 5 years residence for citizenship. Getting a work visa for Japan in easier than getting one for the UK, i've done both and the Japanese one was much easier if you already speak some Japanese.
