So /trv/ I'm in San Francisco right now for a couple days with a friend and we're bored of just walking around the downtown.

What exactly is there to do here? Any cool must-see locations, places to go? It seems like there's a lot of stuff under the surface here. So is there?

I thought SF was supposed to be one of the few cities in the US that compared to others on an international level, and I'm not really feeling that besides the nice views.
>> Anonymous
Not to troll but SF is immensely overrated. It is a nice little town but it's stroked way too hard.

Personally it seems like a big city trying to be a hospitable, close-knit, small town.

OP you should try going to japantown. I think it's like the only japantown in the US or something. Very small, but it's fun if you're into that sort of stuff

You can do that any where. When you go into the bathroom at home to jerk a man's meat that is pretty gay and I am sure you have given many a handjob to a faggot in the comfort of your own home.

San Francisco = good cheap drugs. Ask around for maybe 30 minutes and you can get your hands on about anything. (of course, more careful around blacks) nice museums, and nice music. The best part is again, they don't care if u do all this tripping on acid, or high, or whatever as long as your not a public nuisance.
>> Anonymous
You can go on haight street and make friends with some of the kids that wander outside the parks looking for drugs and trip on acid with them for a couple of days

Bump. I want to visit SF too. I was thinking it'd be cool to vist the Metreon(sp) and point and laugh at Sony fanboys.

Also, take a dump on Nanci Pelosi's doorstep.

Rent bikes and ride out to Tiburon. That's what I did. It was sweet.

SF is pretty to walk around in for a couple of days but there's pretty much nothing there. It's just a bunch of 20 to 40 year old white people pretending to be something that hasn't existed in over 40 years. Yeah there's drugs and shit but you can pretty much get that anywhere, particularly on the west coast.

tl;dr take some pictures, send some postcards, then go to somewhere that actually matters.

OP, are either you or your friend a hot girl? (Yes, I know the odds, travelfags.) I work by Pier 39, which is one of the main tourist spots around here...anyways...FUCK, I got fucking work tomorrow...I hate Mondays

Go to the Power Exchange and get scared for life, if you're one of those fragile psyche types. You want a story to take back with you from the city by the bay, you'll find it on the sticky semen covered floors of that place.

Go to haight, visit the ghiradelli chocolate factory, cheese cake factory, hit the clubs. There's a shit load of restaurants in SF try a different one everyday if you're on vacation do not eat mc donalds. It all depends on what you're looking to do OP. There's quite a few sex clubs in SF too if you're into that sort of thing.

well. i love san francisco and am not gay. guess i gotta stop lurking for a bit and defend this city. here are some nice scenic spots to check out:

the palace of fine arts [in picture]. its free to roam around. this place is huge and awesome to see.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/palace-of-fine-arts-san-francisco. its also near "the wave organ". google more info or search on yelp for that if you care.

twin peaks. you have to drive up the mountain for this but its free, and the best view of s.f. you can hike around a bit, too.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/twin-peaks-san-francisco

pier 39 and the downtown areas are really touristy. id never suggest to go there more than once, unless youre into huge crowds and stores you can pretty much find anywhere. even haight has become really popular, even though its supposed to be the counter culture street...

i hope youre over 21. the bars in SF are really good. theres so much variety.

rogue ale public house is really good for a laid back pub with great beer selection and food. its in the north beach area. you can walk around there too and see other bars/restaurants that are open late.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/rogue-ales-public-house-san-francisco

nihon [in picture] is a scotch whisky bar with japanese food. its actually more like a lounge. its in the mission district. my favorite bar/lounge ever, really classy place with friendly helpful staff. good drinks, too, just kind of pricey. but that's scotch for you. south of this place, a few blocks, is the heart of the night life in the mission district. there are more bars and restaurants open late in that area too
http://www.yelp.com/biz/nihon-whisky-lounge-san-francisco

"whiskey thieves" is another good whisky/whiskey bar. you can smoke inside, too, some people hate it but if you like to smoke, its great. probably one of the bright spots for the civic center/tenderloin area which is shit otherwise

these threads would be better if the OPs talked about their interests. its too hard to field a question like "whats good to see" if we dont know what you care about. if you're big on music, SF is pretty good for that in terms of local music shops. i'm just going to list them off, you can search on yelp or where ever if you want more specific info

*amoeba records - huge and good for new/used stuff
*rasputin - kinda big. i forget where it is.
*aquarius records - in the mission district, good selection, much smaller than amoeba but its still worth checking out
*streetlight records - in noe valley, inside it looks like a tower records store. its also near some other neighborhood shops. the area is ok.

>>63181continued. jesus its slow on this board. im typing this out as i post and no one else is posting anything. not even a "fuk u faggot" or something...

if you're a weeaboo there is that little japan town area someone mentioned earlier. it's ok for a meal or a quick look around. i hear a couple of the bars there have back room specials. they were owned by koreans as far as i could tell.

theres also the japanese tea garden [in picture] on the west side of SF. you have to pay to go in, but the whole park the garden is in, is huge and most of it is free to walk around, i think. people rave about this area but i havent seen much of it.

bleh. well, ill shut up after saying this. if you like places with a pun for a name, theres a bakery called Citizen Cake in the hayes valley area. its supposed to be good.

1.) Chinatown = Lots of great restaurants, cool bars, etc. Visit Li Po Lounge if you're over 21.

2.) Golden Gate Park = Japanese Tea Garden, De Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences, bison pen (YES LIVE BISON), paddle boats, etc.

3.) SAN FRANCISCO ZOO MOTHER FUCKER. Some fuckers DIED THERE. Shit is SO CASH.

4.) Asian Art Museum = Go visit it.

5.) North Beach = Hella titty bars, some good tiki bars, some great restaurants.

6.) Exploratoreum = FUCKING SCIENCE MUSEUM. Fucking awesome shit! Everything is hands-on! Also there are tons of kids so you can pick up a free loli pretty easily.

7.) Mission District = FUCKING AMAZING MEXICAN FOOD. See where the hipsters with greasy hair are eating, and go there. It's hit or miss, but HOLY FUCK there is some good Mexican food there. Also crack, if you want crack.

8.) Haight/Ashbury = Hippies & shit. I hate it but tourists seem to like it.

Dolores Park has nice views of the City. It's nice if you can't get to Twin Peaks.

If you're tired of Chinatown and J-Town, there's always Irving Street in the Sunset and Clement in the Richmond District.

But really, you should head out of the City and visit other places.

Also, Asian massage parlors if you're into that.
