Hi /trv/. I don't know if anyone will be able to help with this, but it's worth trying:

I'm going to Chicago today. More specifically, The Metro, which is in Lakeview. Unfortunately, I'm driving.

I keep looking online, and I can't really find any fucking parking near here. I'm scared of parallel parking and I'm terrified I won't be able to find a place to park.

Does anyone know the Lakeview area? Will parking be as hard as I think, or will I be fine just driving a couple blocks around my destination until I find a space/lot/garage?

Pic related. Oh what wonderful driving I have to look forward to.

Just go to a small street in your town that's not busy and practice.
1. Stop next to the car that is in front of your parking spot in a way that both your rear bumpers are next to eachother.
2. Turn your steering wheel to the max
3. Engage in reverse slowly
4. When your car is at a 45° angle, stop, steer to the opposite side.
5. Get your car in reverse until you're parked.

First time I parallel parked in a city was last week. Last time I had done was in my driving lesson, 2 years ago.

It looks like that is near Wrigley. Good fucking luck finding parking. Just take the red line like everyone else. Depending on which way you're coming in to Chicago, you can take the Metra in or use one of the park and ride stations.

hey, i know that area well. if you're driving in, at its saturday night, your best bet is on clark street, between irving park and montrose. but it fills up early. otherwise, you may be able to find parking on the cemetary on irving park, between clark and sheffield.

then walk, its only about 4 blocks. i know its cold, but when i go to the metro, i just wear a crappy jacket then put in in some corner or behind some machine. haven't ever had a problem, but if it gets lifted, no big deal to replace it.

but honestly, if you could get the red line (CTA) into the city, even better, good luck.

woah, i didn't read that you don't like to parallel park. well, if you're fine paying like $10-20 bucks for parking, you can find a space. i do know the mcdonald's (on addison and clark) does let you park there for like $10 i think, after some time. (maybe 9pm) just get there before it fills up. also, i think you can park at the lot in wrigley field that's on clark for like $10 to $15 also.

Do what I do: There is usually parking on Southport as you drive north of Addison. It'll be a little walk back to the metro, so you might have to take a cab, but you'll find parking.
