Sup /trv/? First time really on this board, maybe you guys can help me out.

I want to go to junior college, learn japanese while learning other stuff to become an industrial engineer, then in college continue on with what i want to learn, and study abroad to japan maybe, learn there, then maybe live there if i get work there and stuff.

This comes mostly from me being a wapanese, but is living in Japan even a good idea? Is it better just to visit?

If you're OK with being an English teacher with less then spectacular pay, then sure. Just don't expect everything to be fine and dandy. You can't go to Japan and expect everything to come on a silver platter. Especially don't plan on making a life in Japan before you even get there. The only foreigners I know of that stay in Japan permanently is because they end up getting married. Most just work as an English teacher for 1-3 years and then return home.

If you want a real job in Japan (like an engineer) you need to be perfectly fluent in Japanese. There are other big obstacles in the way of your dream that I'm sure the weeaboos on here will tell you about.

Christ, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect to be able to just "move to Japan and make robots".

addendum: baby steps man, baby steps. Don't get too ahead of yourself. The easiest way to live in Japan for a couple years is by being an English teacher. Trying to find a job in an engineering/science field right off the bat as a foreigner would be next to impossible. Not that you shouldn't try, it'll just be a bitch.

No way, man. You have a wayyy better chance of making robots in your home country. Find a good job here, and maybe try getting placed overseas for something; that's probably your best bet for going to work in Japan.
