Hey /trv/ Anonymous
First time post here, had a question about flights:

I'm going from the midwest to LA, and theres a local brand of soda here (really good mind you) that I'd like a friend to try while I'm out visiting. Is it okay to have a case or two of soda in your checked luggage? Will it be okay that way? All else fails, carry on?

that shit's gonna get shook to all hell, you know. and watch out for the weight limit--airline's are real bastards about checked luggage these days. I heard they're charging you per bag, even if you only check one.

may be cheaper to ship it to your friend.

The only way you can bring that with you if you are flying is if you check it in luggage. As of yet, only one airline is charging for checking ANY bag, and that is American Airlines. Otherwise keep the total weight of your bag under 50 lbs to avoid additional fees. Southwest charges at the third checked bag (I think) and United and US Airways at the second ($25).

You cannot carry liquids through the security checkpoint, it doesn't matter if they're sealed or not.

I'd suggest packing light and putting as much as you can in a carry-on bag. Then get one of those plastic ice chests and put your cases of soda in there AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE PADDED ON ALL SIDES BY EITHER YOUR CLOTHES OR SOMETHING ELSE and then check the cooler as your bag.

If you tape the cooler closed, TSA will likely cut the tape to inspect it but they WILL re-tape it with branded TSA tape. lolz.

I'm a baggage handler and this is what I'd do in your situation. What airline will you be flying?
