Aloha,

Going to Perth tomorrow. What are available part time jobs in the area and how much can you make? Can do anything from cleaning to farm work [when it's summer].

Overall, is it possible for an international TAFE student to provide for her basic needs with part time jobs? Or will I suffer like fuck?

Wait, to live there? And you're just asking this now?

Perth is without a doubt the worst choice for a city to live in Australia. Perhaps only eclipsed by Darwin in failure levels.

I won't question your motives, but you should be fine to live on a part-time income depending, DEPENDING on how many hours you can work and if you can find a job to suit.

Do yourself a favour and buy a car, the bus system is nothing short of shit. Don't work at Nandos, the staff are perpetually rushed off their feet, and last but not least, enjoy your ants.

Fucking travelling for TAFE? To PERTH?! Ugh.

Fuck off. The buses are fine. Only lazy, whiney cunts like yourself need a car.

I've heard simular things...

Do the smart thing, stay In Brisbane.... Also if you are not a whale, post pics of your asian self!

Fuck you, nigger. I come from a town of 10,000, which has more regular bus services than the inner suburbs of Perth, not to mention greater operating hours.

Your city is a fucking joke to anybody who didn't grow up there. Do me a favour and die at the hand of your own 40 degree plus insect and AIDS-ridden environment.

I've been asking about everything for a year now. I just never thought of coming here and asking you guys.

I have 20 hours available but I don't mind going over that if I can find a job.
About public transport, I have lived in Germany, England and I have also lived in third world countries where you could get pregnant just by sitting on the seat in a bus. So public transport, lousy public transport wont bother me that much.

Whats wrong with TAFE? I'll study networking and as far as I know, it's not an available course in unis. And I picked Perth because, erm, it's cheaper than the eastern side? I guess. And not that crowded.

Never even thought about going to Brisbane.

I'm a whale.

Perth is cheaper? No.
Perth is less crowded? For a reason.

For Sydney, just live south of the city in Cronulla or something.
For Brisbane& Melbourne, eastern suburbs for the same effect.

I don't get why you would pay international student fees for a dubious qualification that may not be as internationally recognised as a university degree. Go enjoy sitting in on the Computer Science lectures at a uni and enjoy the sausagefest. You'll be the centre of attention, whale or not.

So you're saying that some parts of Sydney or Brisbane-Melbourne are the same price as Perth? Would they be just as secure? Because right now I'm living in the most expensive city in my country and there are indeed cheap parts but you may get robbed or shot any day. And them 3 cities draw a lot of immigrants, that's also another problem. Too many people to work = competition = decreased monthly income.

I know computing doesn't interest girls much, and networking? Blah, cables and firewalls are guy things, yeah. But I actually do enjoy it and in my last class, I was again the only girl and it didn't bother me. So it's alright.
And about the qualification being less worthy, I'd like to believe most employers will go for hands-on experience, rather than "lectures" as you said. So I might be lucky.

Anyways, I'll try my chance. Paid AUD4,750 for 6 months. If nothing happens, I'll go back home and work a shit job to raise that money back and pay back to my family.

Thank you for your response though.

Perth is too crowded even with a small population due to poor infrastructure planning and an apathetic corrupt government. The qualifications here are also rubbish, at university anyway, due to lowering of entry requirements which necessitated the simplification of course content so the retards could actually pass them.

Finding a part-time job should be easy enough as there seems to be much demand in the restaurant/food sector. The local maccas (Morley) is always desparate for staff if you don't mind working for 15-18$ an hour.

There are a lot of immigrants in Perth, so much that at times it seems like whites are the minority. We also have a reasonably high level of crime thanks to the aboriginal population and general ineffectiveness of the police to do anything except chase people driving a little too fast.

Apart from all that, it's a decent place to live.

Oh one more thing - it costs a shitload to rent a decent place right now, and probably won't get better any time soon.
