Hi, so I'm planning on going to Thailand for a few months soon, and want to know if any of you have been there.

Any tips, stories, info on visiting there for the first time from USA?

This was meant as a troll, but ironically it hits the nail right on the head. Unless you are married and travelling with your wife, or female, you will be labeled a pedo. Enjoy your arbitrary social stigma.

Oh, the food is pretty good and the people are nice. Pretty much just follow common sense cultural rules, except around temples, where it really pays to read up on what's appropriate in advance.

Well, I guess the pedo label is gonna happen, whatever.

I'm really just looking for an inexpensive place to hang-out for a couple months and after researching Thailand seemed like a great place to start.

I was also looking at places like, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, ect...

If anyone has any other advice on these or somewhere else worth considering, let me know.

Also, how easy is it to travel around these different countries dealing with the visas and all that?

Thanks

Personally, I'd stay out of Egypt. I was there for a couple of months teaching at the University of Cairo, and I simply couldn't stand it. Prejudice against Jews, along with completely insane propaganda that advocates things like the destruction of Israel, the cleansing of the Cabala, etc. Really terrible place, I'd stay out.

Thailands a beautiful place, but seriously stay away from bar girls or any sort of sex travel, the women they use are carriers for STD's.
