Adventure for the Cheap Bastard? Anonymous
Now I am a poor son of a bitch, I can barely afford any food and yet I want to see the entire world and have adventures before I die an old man. What does /trv/ recommend for a broke man who wishes to have a grand adventure like the Aang Gang or Indiana Jones?

Now, look, Indiana Jones was a badass archeologist who happend to know where to find certain relics. So, unless you're an archeologist with a time machine to go back to the 1930's, then no, you can't have a grand adventure full with Nazis and women.

But then again, Indiana Jones was in the Belgium Army during the First World War. So, join the army.

First step: Get a job on a ship, desert the ship at some 3rd world port.

Well,
1. Hitchhike
2. Hop Trains
3. Carjack
Dumpsters are an excellent source of nutrition, esp. pizza shop dumpsters a half hour after close.
Shoplift, just remember if you steal a burrito at one 711, you might wanna nuke it at a AMPM a few miles down the road.
Once you get sick of it all a nice homeless shelter will take you in, and hook you up with a job at a 711 or AMPM....

Cut expenses, save money for a long period of time.

This is how it's done.

Hitchhike in more way than one, as yachts will occasionally pick up crew in port. This could get you anywhere from Greece to the Caribbean.

Hostels often look for work, bars in tourist sectors are always happy to have a barman who can speak fluent English, busking can be a useful skill if you've got some talent (or even if you don't), farms often look for cheap labour, certain Asian countries like to use westerners as models even if they aren't attractive (think 360 kid) and if all else fails dumpsters are an ever-present source of food and even sell-able second-hand goods.

There's ALWAYS a way, brother.

Do you honestly believe work contradicts adventure? Work can be very illuminating, adventurous and exciting if you know what to pick and are in an interesting place to begin with. It's also a great way to make connections with like-minded individuals and start your very own "Aang Gang", if you want to connect it to fiction.
