Could someone tell me if Egypt is worth a visit? I mean they do have all of the ancient Egyptian history, but is there really anything else?

Unless you're interested in the history, there's not much else besides absorbing the culture and hoping you don't become victim to terrorism.

There's terrorism in Egypt? I thought that was other Arab nations. Also don't they have nightclubs and stuff there or am I thinking of Dubai?

There are many terrorist groups active in Egypt, but not at the same level as you find in Pakistan or similar countries. The country is safe to visit, live and travel in, but there are sporadic terrorist attacks that can and do occur.

There is a history of terrorist attacks against tourists in Egypt, mostly at the historical sites, but there hasn't been one in years.

Cairo has a big night life; it's a very modern city. It's a great country to travel too.

Pic related.

:| if you're a girl, cancel your trip. srsly. sexual harrassment against any girl not wearing a burka is srs business in egypt now. young egyptian muslim males do not control themselves AT ALL.

Amazingly, the 'evil' christian copt egyptians dont seem to have this problem.

On a side note if your going for the diving, its expensive. Go to Thailand instead.

Ancient Egyptian history is awesome, but it doesn't hide the fact that they are Muslim today.

Uhm, not really. Yes, as a woman in an Arab nation you'll get stared at a lot, but Egypt is a very modern, semi-first world nation. Especially in Cairo, many women do not wear burkas.

It's not just about being a woman not wearing a burka. It's about being a western woman. A western woman in any Muslim nation would be seen as a potential slut (not by every individual of course, but still) and they are often afraid to confront the harassers, making them easy prey.

There have been a lot of abductions and forced "marriages" of copt girls.

Good thing I am male. This is the OP by the way. However I am wondering what if I had a wife and daughter. Should I just tell them to wear those things just to be safe?

OP, i've been to egypt. Its pretty much a modern place depending on where you go. I went there with my cousin and she simply wore decent clothing. A simple shirt and pants/skirt is common. Just dont show too much skin. Even for men it's considered unusual. Sunburn or cold depending on when u go. The weather there is either very hot or very cold. Also stay safe, as in most countries, Tourist are usually a target of thieves. Just make sure that no one tries to get too close to you. Also, ALWAYS haggle for price. Egyptions have no concept of price tags, anything goes. Just remember what they are offering you, haggle, haggle, haggle. do ur homework beforehand. Other than that, enjoy your visits to ancient civilizations. i went there for one week and it wasnt enough. Have fun.
