I'm moving to New York next summer to find an internship. Any cool shit I should look for on my days off besides all the regular tourist traps?

Just walk around all day, seriously. That's the best place to find cool places or people that can help you find cool places.

Back in high school I had a teacher that told my class if we were ever in NYC, we should start on the southern point of NY and just walk up the entire city through all the neighborhoods. I might do that some day. But I might stop short of Harlem haha i'm such a racist.

It's about the people. If you can meet people and go to some cool looking places, it's all good. If you're over 21, then the night life is awesome. There are a lot of things to do, if you're interested in them. Not too many people are into Broadway musicals, but live performances are plenty in NYC. Jazz, symphony, indie bands, ballet, etc.

I won't be 21 until partway through my summer in NY (if I go the whole summer and not half). Any cool bars that aren't too popular (i.e. I won't be waiting outside for hours to get in)? I'm living in the Greenwich Village area (NYU's campus). Am I going to be swamped by fags and hipsters?
