Srs, I'm curious as to why someone would join the FFL when career in the US Army is obviously a much better choice.

First of all, you won't even make it in through the seeding. Second, if you do, you'll be raped and killed by your bunkmate during the first night. Or alternatively, just raped, and also raped every night to come.

/trv/ roundtable discussion:

Raped in the Legion or dead in the desert on a lie? Which is for you?

Don't listen to these assholes. The Foreign Legion really is nothing like how they have described it. You can get the facts here.

Yep, you get a french name. And normally, if I remember well, after 10 or 15 years, you can have the french citizenship.

Ten to fifteen years? I'd rather be countryless.

>With ammunition exhausted, the last of Danjou's soldiers, numbering only five under the command of Lt. Maudet, desperately mounted a bayonet charge. Two men died outright, while the rest continued the assault. The tiny group was surrounded and literally beaten to the earth. Colonel Milan, commander of the Mexicans, managed to prevent his men from ripping the surviving legionnaires to pieces. When the last two survivors were asked to surrender, they insisted that Mexican soldiers allow them safe passage home, to keep their flag, and to escort the body of Captain Danjou. To that, the Mexican commander commented, "What can I do with such men? No, these are not men, they are devils," and, out of respect, agreed to these terms.

Holy shit!

I have a cousin in the Legion (he is french) if you are american it will be very different than US army
But going the foreign legion is not a game, selection is hard and if you are accepted you can be fired for an error
You can become a french citizen after 3 years in foreign legion but if you are american I do not think it is a goal

And everywhere France has troops the legion is in these countries: Africa, Aghanistan, Balkan, French Guyane

good luck buddy
