I'm going to Mexico (one of the nicer parts, not a shitty part) this summer for study abroad to complete my spanish minor. However, it's been a really long time since I've been in any spanish classes, so I'm sure my spanish is really rusty.

So, I'd like to brush up on it in the meantime. What are some good ways to do that? Should I watch spanish movies, or visit spanish webforums on the internets? Should I read spanish books? Obviously the best way would be for me to find actual spanish-speaking people and...well...talk to them, but I don't know if that's an option in my town.

If YOU were in my shoes, what would YOU do to brush up on your spanish before you left for your trip?

Well I live in Arizona, so I can just walk down the street and find Mexicans speaking Spanish and try to communicate with them... in Spanish.

I'm pretty sure you'd be better off learning mandarin or cantonese not spanish. The US's number one trading partner is Canada (so french/english) but for non Quebec residents Canada's pretty much english. 2nd largest trading partner is China (hence the mandarin or cantonese comment) 3rd largest is mexico. So in terms of buisness the most usefull is Chineese, in terms of getting someone to do the work you're too lazy to do...spanish

hmm, I try to find ways to practice my Spanish everywhere. best option I can usually find is to find places where the main help is too busy and all teh Spanish waitstaff is just standing around and try to convince them to get you a glass of water or something. I also have a Cafe that I frequent and everyone there speaks to me in Spanish when I go there.
