Hey guys,

So, I'm free of university in a weeks time, and want to travel. I have the summer to earn me some more money, so I'll have around £10k ($20k) at mid march next year that I can spend.

The question is - where? I'm a well travelled person, having been round all the major cities in Central/Western Europe (the ones in the EU), as well as a few in Russia and former Yugoslavia.

However, I want more, the less obviously touristy the better. Any cool places in Europe or even further abroad would be most appreciated.

Important note - this will be around 6 months, money isn't an objectove, but the less spent the better, and I'd much rather do a region in detail than hop around the world.

Current considerations is to do a lot in the Former Soviet Union, travel the Trans-Manchurian to Beijing and travel a bit in Asia. However, I know not these places, so some great spots to visit would be excellent!

Many thanks.

There are a million cities in central asia that most people have never even heard of. Same with china, those comunist-hoard types have some impressive cities with unpronouncable names in their countries.

Op here.

Been to Belgrade many times, and going there again this summer on a mini-Yugoslav break (before the big trip next year).

India does look rather interesting, as I had an Indian gf for a while, who raved about it (being half-French made me be a lot quieter about my heritage...)

Is there anywhere in SE Asia that still speak French? Im fluent in French and Russian, but I tried picking up Korean and failed hard (tonal languages are HARD). I know France used to own quite a few colonies in Indochina, but like everything elsem they sucked hard...
