So /trv/, I wanna go backpacking.

Any suggestions on what to use for traveling for an unknown amount of time? What backpacks have you used?

Depends how much weight you want to carry. I stay withing 50-70lbs. Eureka makes these really small crescent tents that are nice and a good product for the price. There are these trekker poles made by a Swiss company that are awesome and take about a third of the weight and stress off your body. Not cheap though.

I used to use an older Lowe Alpine pack before Lowe started sucking. I'd probably go with Mountain Hardware for packs now.

It will depends on where you go, and when.
Winter doesn't seem to me as the best season for backpacking...
Bring a lot of water anyway and a few clothes. You'll probably need rope and that kind of basic stuff.

If you can go near a lake or a river, it's very useful to wash yourself and these places are usually nice.
