China will continue to grow up untill the point where it will no longer be able to provide cheap labour. Things will go downhill from there. They also dont have enough resources fulfill the needs of their population, so their economy will eventually slow down. They may reach #1 in terms of GDP, but thei will never have that much political influence due to the problems mentioned above.

Brazil will always suck. It may be one of the countries with the most abundant natural resources, but Brazilians are corrupt and disorganized by nature, so they will never really pass the "developing nation" stage.

India's population will probably die of polio before they rule the world, LOL.
No, but seriously... india has the same problems as China (lack of resources for too many people and a reliance on cheap labour) and Brazil (corruption and lack of organisation) put together, so it is actually the least likely to rule the world.

TL;DR: Europe and America will continue to rule the world for at least 100 more years.

Yes, because economies that run on cheap labour STAY THAT WAY FOREVER, right? Just like Japan did?
>> Anonymous
>>73771
Japan's economic miracle after WW2 had nothing to do with cheap labour. It happaned because of massive investments on infrastructure and a highly-skilled labour force.
Also, Japan is the HQ of several gigantic global companies, and it isn't limited to just manufacturing their products, but to actually receive their revenue from their exports.
Comparing Japan to India or China is just silly.

>>73785

That's because it takes time for those corporations to develop. Japan back in the day was infamous for making low quality products that were just copies of existing brands (sound familiar?), until they gained expertise and developed their own brands. Hell, in an ironic reversal of forture, a lot of Indian companies are starting to buy out British companies, such as Land Rover.

You're just another one of those people who assume that the future will be exactly the same as the past. Good luck with that.

you mean like Africa?

Brasil and India are both democratic countries. If one day they become significant enough to influence world affairs, I won't mind at all.

China, however, is a different issue.
>> Anonymous

Africa's got serious problems. They have very little to sometimes negative economic growth, and are constantly war torn. The prospects for them are grim indeed until they can fix these problems. China and India are at least united and rapidly developing.

Brasil has potential. India, less so, in fact I expect they are headed for a credit crisis of their own (like most, based on inflated land prices). China is completely untrustworthy but may be destabilized because of ridiculous aging and possibly democratic will. India is moderately democratic, but how do you count hundreds of millions of votes fairly, reliably and accurately? you can't!
I'm confident about Russia, possibly Europe, too.

>>73822
Africa is destined to get raped and re-raped again for the forseeable future. If you have even the tiniest clue of how fucked that continent is you wouldn't dare suggest it.

>>India is moderately democratic, but how do you count hundreds of millions of votes fairly, reliably and accurately? you can't!

What do you mean? That every democratic country with a big population cant have a fair election?
>> Anonymous
brasil's a big pile of shit
china and india tho...
>> Anonymous
>>73868
Not in India's case.
India is too corrupt and its people are too poor and uneducated. It must be the easiest thing ever for politicians to buy votes there.
If you think elections in India are corruption-proof, you are just naive.

China will likely share the role with the US. India is like China, but 30 years ago and with the same problems but worse. Brazil, while on the track, has alot of internal problems still and doesn't have the population to do so. I will basically influence South America though.

>>73880

Thank G-d the USA could never be like that. I mean, the people of the USA couldn't possibly be persuaded by someone with just some nonsense single-word message like "Change".

Also, we're much more intelligent here than to allow ourselves to be bought by a candidate for president for a mere $1000 a person. After all, it's not like that candidate has to pay for it -- just some poor shmuck who owns a business.

japan's products were never inferior, its just that it took americans a while to get over themselves and realize that japan was better at making cars and electronics than they were. Ever listen to a high end made in japan stereo from the 70s and 80s? you cant buy quality like that today without taking out a mortgage.
>> Anonymous
>>73918
Japanese products were inferior during the decades between 1945-1970, it was a result of them being strictly manufacturing, a foreign investor would come to them with a design, tell them to copy it on the cheap, and they'd pump them out by the millions. Thanks to that export boom they were able to learn the inner workings of certain electronics devices, and invest extra into them, making sure to refine them with the Japanese design aesthetic.

Like the 60s Fender Stratocaster copies made by Teisco and Tokai? Many of those copies are in high damand today and often sound as good/better than the mid 60s strats.

And then Fender made the mistake of licencing Japanese companies to make their "lower end" models. People stopped buying the American ones cause the Japanese ones were just as good.

Dont get me wrong, the Japanese werent the most creative bunch at the time. But they had a way of fusing mass production and a high standard of quality. And theres no doubt they would still be a developing country today without the massive American investment after WWII.

Oh yeah? Check this picture out.

This was actually an old book on linguistics, but that didn't stop the author from taking a bunch of racist pot shots in the Japanese section.

>He is imitative but not creative. He can make a cheap copy of any manufactured article but it will be of inferior design and workmanship.

Yep ... 50 years later, they're putting Ford and GM out of business.

Oh, here's another country that used to rely on cheap labour, but worked their way up to a more profitable type of economy: Taiwan. Also, South Korea.
