My brother and I are planning on "backpacking" europe next summer, for most of the summer. We'll most likely be hitchhiking for most of our transportation. We'll be couchsurfing for the majority of the trip.

So /trv/, including airline tickets, food, minor transportation costs and misc costs, what kind of ball park figure can we expect to shell out?

Your brother really just wants to fuck you.

can i come?

When i backpacked southern europe with an interrail ticket we spend around 850$ in 3 weeks, excluding transport. So if you hitchhike, you just have to add a plane ticket to that.

your cost of livihg will ultimately depend on what countries you are visiting

where in 'europe' do you want to go?
>> Anonymous
Depends where you are setting off from.

Im going around europe for 3 weeks this year, plane and train tickets combined cost around £250 and we're staying in youth hostels which is costing us about an additional £300.

That guide is terrible. It sounds more like European tourist marketing in an effort to make you spend as much money as possible. Half of the shit doesn't even involve backpacking and instead pretty much tells you that you should ride this, buy this, use this, all for a fee of what-the-fuck-ever.

OP here.
Are the rail passes worth it?
Or should I just rely on hitchhiking?
Also: According to that website someone posted, they said to avoid the UK, just because of traveling costs.
Would you agree with this?

Only if you want to have sex with your brother.

I think it's already been established that OP is going on a vacation with her brother, therefore it is apparent that they are going to be having much sex.

Is it really that good?

No, but it will make the OP feel like they are a prepared traveler. Never mind the fact that they are unwilling to do basic prep work themselves.
