So, I'm off to Brussels for 9 months. I'm 20 years old, interested in comics and movies.
Where should I go and what should I do?
Do they have comic convents? Do I have to know french? Where is the beer cheap?

TL;DR What's good with Brussels?

Pic unrelated, the beach close to my summer house.

I hope you like mayo cause you're fucked otherwise

Fucking French. Fuck that shit. Just shout very loud. If they still don't understand, smash the place up a bit.

Also, comics in Brussels?

I've never been, but yeah, I can't see them having a big comic scene.

I was told they were sorta the comic capital of Europe, was hoping they'd have convents and other stuff.
Tintin, Lucky Luke and the smurfs all come from Belgium

The only convention in Belgium is F.A.C.T.S., it's two days in the beginning of october in Ghent, which is less than an hour away from Brussels by train.

Brussels by itself is a shithole, but Belgium has an extensive railroadnetwork and since Brussels is the middlepoint of the country, you can go anywhere in less than two hours.

You don't need French. Because of the EU and NATO, lots of people living in Brussels are diplomats and the city has adapted to it. No one will have a problem with English.

It has a map and everything.

Museum of the Congo is supposed to be interesting. But leave Brussels and go to Leuven, Gent, or Brugge. They're much nicer. Leuven is especially close, like 10 minutes by train.
