Norfags, im considering moving too your country because British hospitals are full of fail and AIDS, I liked Oslo although /b/tards are telling me its boring to live there so where is a fun active part of Norway?, whats the best way to learn your language?, am I likely to be able to immigrate there? Im a nurse btw.

norway is awesome. try bergen, trondheim or oslo, you should be fine there as long as you're a heterosexual. the girls are damn fine

Oslo is het place to be tbh /b/tards are tards, hence the name.
Swedish nurses move to norway all the time, due to higher salaries, etc... if you get a job (which wont be a problem as a nurse) and learn the language I'm pretty sure you'll be welcome to immigrate, however it is said that the scandinavian languages are one of the hardest to learn, so you might wanna go some language-courses. Good Luck ^^

The salary for nurses will go up dramatically in Norway seeing there is a huge lack of nurses. so that "due to higher salaries" wont be true for long.(Norwegian, studying in sweden atm 0.0) and regarding the big towns such as bergen/trondheim or oslo tbh feel that stavanger should be in there too :D

well if you going for the girls i would either go to bergen or stavanger

Hi, if you live in Oslo, you have the opurtunity to go clubbing and stuff, if you get to know the right people there are raves and proper underground parties. But i would not recomend the country for the party scene.

Immigrating there, hmm, my dad came to norway when he was 30 from britain, and it wasnt to difficult, the good part about working in norway is that getting a job is quite easy, and once you have a job its impossible to get fired unless you do something Really bad, like criminal or just dont perform your duties time after time.

My dad does not speak norwegian fluently, he is okay now but since norway is the country in the world that speakes the best english, except english speaking countries he has had several jobs and gets around very easy. And you will learn it as you go, even as an adult.

I assume they have McDonald's in Norway.

English has a lot more in common with latin languages such as classical latin and french, than it has in common with Scandinavian, although it is indeed true there is a strong link. blablabla.

Welcome to Norway, if you decide to move here. Oslo is cool. I can also vouch for Trondheim. You have to understand these places are a lot smaller than cities in the UK though, so :D Trondheim is rather like a large town. Great place though, it's where I'm from.

You've nothing to lose from giving it a shot.

It has more in common with Germanic languages, wtf

Basically the Anglo-Saxons spoak a range of different languages comming from a number of different Vikingesk countries also German, and latin from the Romans this merged over time with other languages like French to form the English language, but it has some traits such as not having feminine or masculin words which is uncommon elsewhere.

So English does have more in common with the scandanavian languages than say Japanese but it has been diluted down substantially.

I would also like to move to Norway once I finish my degree and whatnot. What are the chances of someone who knows English/Japanese/Chinese with a teaching degree getting a job in Norway. I am also very interested in learning Norwegian, so it's not like I'm going to be an ass and expect everything in English.

Oslo is full of fail, dont go there, junkies, arabs, nigger and loads of fags. Bergen or Trondheim is better, if you can handle cold weather and an ugly city, come to Tromsø.

English was considerably more distinct until the Norman invasion in 1066. William the conquerer was a strong of believer in effective, consistent administration and record keeping, and the latin and 'french' they spoke made their way into all levels of the english courts and therefore life. The common law system that we in America and Britain enjoy today is a direct result of this. That being said, english is a germanic language, and so is dutch. The grammar structures between the two are very similar. The big difference between english and dutch (and most other germanic languages) is the prevalance of so many latin words due to the reasons above. So to sum up, english uses germanic grammar structure (quite different from romance language structures), but half of our words are latin and the english language has forgotten the germanic counterparts to those words, therefore making it seem 'more foreign', because when you first encounter a new language you're usually not involved in the grammar structure, you're just looking for basic nouns, adjectives and verbs. That's all I have to say about that

Sorry, I meant norwegian, not dutch, hurr durr.

i kind of wanted to do the same sort of thing as OP, except for sweden, and nothing to do with the health field. I guess i'd be okay with norway too, though.

same questions op asked pertain to me. except im not a nurse. im an advertising major, who knows french pretty well, and a bit of spanish.
thanks

Norway? More like Nor-GAY

Seriously though, I saw a program on TV about Trondheim, and it has lead me to believe that Norway is full of cute little choirboys. True or false?
