/trv/ as objective as this isn't, which city has the greatest skyline? In another thread they were saying Chicago. I would submit Hong Kong has the greatest skyline.

London's skyline is fail but this picture makes it look good.

As someone who has been to most the major cities in the West and East Asia, I would say HK does. Tokyo is the most impressive for sheer scale of seeming like it never ends, though. Also a much better place than HK.

I like Vancouver.

Also, Chicago really impressed me. Beautiful!

London looks nice from the right angle. But the average photograph of the London skyline isn't great. You can go to Chicago, New York of Hong Kong and take a picture from ANYWHERE and it looks great.

Not incredibly impressive. The problem with London is that there's nothing to offset the drab skyline. In Edinburgh or other British cities there's usually a rural flavour that makes up for the lack of high density high rises. London isn't amazing on the eyes, imo. Someone can prove me wrong though.

Tokyo, great for density but no iconic buildings.

>>1551

The Chicago skyline is a masterpiece.

Liverpool (UK) waterfront is really nice, I visited there a few months back and remember being impressed.

Unfortunately all of the pics on Google are either old as fuck or tiny.
>> Anonymous
Hong Kong for sure, they have an amazing light show at night.

I'd say New York because it has many iconic buildings, but I'm biased because I live there.

New York is awesome.

In Hong Kong the buildings start shooting fucking lasers at night. For serious!

No love for the Seattle skyline?

Fuck that is awesome. Extra points for the mountain, I never knew there was one near Seattle.

Here's a Seattle pic I've had for a while.

Mt. Rainier is pretty easy to see from Seattle on a clear day. Queen Anne hill is a popular photo spot for getting the space needle, rainier, and a good chunk of the skyline.

How bout SF? Though really, it ought to be appreciated from the bay bridge at night.

Even the buildings need to sparkle. But it does look nice.

That black building doesn't look real.

How long's that triangular building been there?
>> Anonymous
>>1765

Beautiful. The UAE skylines are shaping up to be some of the best. atm the skylines lack density, but the buildings themselves are some of the best in the world.

It's the Transamerica Pyramid. Been there since 1972.

I want to visit Dubai in 2012. Should be interesting.

"I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline. Particularly when one can't see the details. Just the shapes. The shapes and the thought that made them. The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. What other religion do we need? And then people tell me about pilgrimages to some dank pesthole in a jungle where they go to do homage to a crumbling temple, to a leering stone monster with a pot belly, created by some leprous savage. Is it beauty and genius they want to see? Do they seek a sense of the sublime? Let them come to New York, stand on the shore of the Hudson, look and kneel. When I see the city from my window - no, I don't feel how small I am - but I feel that if a war came to threaten this, I would throw myself into space, over the city, and protect these buildings with my body."

Though based on these pictures, I actually like Chicago, Hong Kong, and Tokyo the best.

Why wait? The Dubai Skyline is already superbly spectacular.

Burj Dubai looks weird where it is. Needs more supertalls close to it for balance. In itself it's a spectacular building.

Shanghai skyline looks pretty good in that photo but usually it looks weird to me. Looks like a creepy, retro-futuristic casino. Which I suppose is pretty cool. But still weird.

But as soon as you leave darling harbour/circular quay, you realise just how uber-severely the city's remaining CHAR STATS took a beating.

After careful consideration, the only clear winner is Las Vegas.
I know its not a traditional skyline but man, it has it all. Castles, eifell towers, space needles, pyramids, a copy of the new york skyline, the works.

2nd: Dubai
3rd: Shanghai

As a resident, I would like to say OH HELL NO! Our skyline makes for a good cartoon or billboard but it's piss poor compared to something like Paris or Tokyo or even New York.
>> Anonymous
>>4631

no. streets are too full of college kids drinking and mexicans handing out cards that advertise for strip clubs.
>> Anonymous

hahaha. I went there in january and I decided to collect cards every single time someone handed me them, and I ended up with like 75. there's seriously people handing those cards out every 100 feet.
