Who has been to South Korea and what did you think of it?

My girlfriend and I went October of '07 and I loved it. We stayed with her parents in a rural area which was surrounded by rice fields. The view was beautiful and it was a short drive to the city (10 minutes or so). The city was even more awesome with stores and restaurants everywhere.

We also went to Seoul which I loved. Something about riding the subway or bus EVERYWHERE was very satisfying. All the people I met were very friendly, but people mostly kept to themselves.

I can't wait to go again.

It literally feels like another Japan, except not as ridiculously crowded. I like their food more.

Just outside of Ulsan University.

Looks like a nice place to visit. Are you caucasian? I've been to japan once, and I didn't like it too much; if you tried to talk to random passers-by they would literally sprint the other away to get away from you.

Street food. I generally stayed away from this but my girlfriend and most other Koreans love the stuff.

You stayed away from THAT?

That stuff looks amazingly good. You have no taste.

Yeah, I am caucasian. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly. Just walking down the street elementary, middle, and high schooled aged kids would say "hello!" to me, then all their friends would giggle when I said hello back. A group of kids on a field trip bombarded me with questions while in Gyeongju, a big tourist destination, even in Korea.

In Seoul everyone seemed cold though, but I think it is just with them being so crowded. People would often give slight nudges in packed subway cars to get you to move because when those doors open you better be moving if you're getting off. However, everyone I met there was very nice.

Fish cake soaking in water all day doesn't appeal to me that much. I'm a bit of a germaphobe and Korea's sub-standard sanitary practices weirded me out, although I did try some of the chicken on the left which was very good.

Pictures is Ulsan park.

Hyundai department store! Was filled with expensive clothing, electronics, and other items. Had dozens of restaurants on the top floor.

Can't forget the PC rooms! About $.90 an hour to do play games or mess around on the internet. Lots of games preloaded on the computer and everyone plays Starcraft pretty much, but FIFA Soccer is very popular there as well. Also a multiplayer first person shooter called Special Forces.

Apartments! Most people in Korea live in apartments. They are usually over 10 stories and are often located close together.

Bulguksa Temple. Like this one much more than Deoksugung in Seoul, which was surrounded by city. Bulguksa is on a lush, green mountain.
