I am thinking about taking a first-ever trip to Laughlin, Nevada for a quick weekend getaway from SoCal. I am turning to /trv/ because I have never been there and my usual travel resources show that the city itself as well as its various hotels and restaurants get both glowing AND hideous reviews. I am not a big gambler or huge on shows -- I just like the 24-hour aspect and dining variety of places like Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe and am looking for something similar that comes without the long drive and/or high room rates and/or massive crowds. So, if you think Laughlin is utter fail no matter what, please say so. If you think a good time can be had there, pass along what you think are some good spots. Right now, I think I would be leaning towards a jacuzzi suite in the Tropicana Express even though it's not right on the river, but I am also considering the Harrah's Laughlin, Aquarius, and maybe even the Golden Nugget Laughlin (although I understand that place fills up quick for weekends).
