ill suggest some more accessible ones in case you are not SO full of cash money (and assuming you live in NA.
Catalina Island- a resortish type island about an hour by ferry from Los Angeles that has some beautiful gardens, scuba, restaurants, all the romantic stuff.
Channel islands-just north of Catalina island is a recent national park addition and has some of the best untouched wilderness in the US.
Martinique- French Island in the Caribbean that has some of the most stunning mountains of any island in the area, friendly people and you don't get as many college students during springbreak as elsewhere. Key west- can be busy but has a little bit of everything including Hemingway's house and gays in Key West. Hawaii- it may be expensive and crowded, but if you quickly book it to another island you will notice fewer and fewer tourists. I especially suggest suggest Molkai and Kauai which typically see the least amount of tourists. There are plenty of popular places that you can still take your chick that you can minimize the shitty sandals resort feel. Id suggest picking up a Frommers, or Rough Guide that are typically for backpackers and/or savvy tourists that are looking for something beyond the getaway.
