How hard are the logistics of doing a european summer festival run? If I can put together a good itinerary, what should I check out?
>> Anonymous
Well, it would cost a bunch, because festival tickets are fucking expensive, festival food is fucking expensive and you will be taking trains all across Europe.

That said, however, it's entirely possible. You could start with Pinkpop and end with Sziget or something like that. Personally, those are the two festivals I want to go to. Pinkpop, because it's somewhat of a tradition and the atmosphere is always great, Sziget because it's like a week for the same amount of money.

The Sziget Festival in Buddpest, Hungary.
The largest music festival in europe. The first week of august. It has EVERYTHING and the exchange rate is such that its dirt cheap. Look it up. Seriously.

Do all the festival have some kind of camping area or is it just the biggest/longest?

Any certain type of festival you're aiming for? I attend metal festivals at least once a year.

Rock and metal, especifically. But I always thought the only metal one was Wacken.

I know, I went there. I figured OP is going next year. Would be a little late to start planning now.

Rock Werchter, Lowlands, Parkpop (not too interesting this year though)

I figure I also also have said that with the exception of QOTSA, RATM and a few other bands I hate the line-ups I saw for festivals this year, so I would be going much for the sex and drugs than the rock'n'roll.

I second that. Been there 2000/2001/2002. Was always great after all. Yet, be prepared for cold showers and bitchy security. Don't forget your tent.
