Portable solar panels
i just got a job as a traveling photographer for around the world and I'm going to be in some pretty far out places (middle of Africa, Vietnamese jungles, Amazon forest to name my first three assignments). Trouble is I wanted to buy some sort of solar panel that can let me charge some small electronics (Mp3 player, DS) but be portable enough so I won't be burdened to throw it at a lion because it's slowing me down.

Pic unrelated.

Wouldn't it be nice to leave your electronics behind for a bit?

Well yes, I go camping for three weeks a year and leave behind everything except my sleeping bag, truck and a book. But I'm going to be gone for six months around the world and this is for work, not escapism.

How do I gotted job as a traveling photographer?

Seriously, I want to switch to some traveling-friendly work and lunix+network admining does not lend itself too well to it..

Rainforests+Solar Panel=Disappointment

Here's what you can do though. Boil a small pot of water, but make a trumpet shaped funnel that connects to a windmill like this http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/green-gadgets/hy-mini-the-portable-wind-and-solar-power-generator-310368.
php

It'll be almost like an instant steam-turbine, and you can be completely stationary for it.

OP I am calling bullshit on this. What kind of job is "travelling photographer for around the world"? They gave you three assignments at once?

I knew a guy who did the same sort of thing for some Science magazine. It wasn't national geographic.
