Where in the UK? I went to London via Heathrow for about $650 round-trip (British Airways) last March. I booked my flights through a travel agent.

If you are gonna go, go during off-season. March was a good time of year. The weather wasn't fantastic, but it was just fine to walk around and sightsee in.

If you plan on doing much travel while in the UK, the little inter-city jets are pretty cheap. I think we got from London to Edinburgh for like $200 round-trip.

I take trains when I am in England/Britain. The GNER Flying scotsman route is great cause it only stops in London, Middlesborough, York, one other city i dont remember and Edinburgh.

US airlines are cheaper. on top of that: $ is low atm, would be best to buy a flight from an US airline atm.
