travel is travel, fuck off. Besides /jp/ is for visual novels. Both producing and raging over UBW.

When I was there, I noticed I enjoyed Kyushu and Okinawa more than Honshu, too. Kagoshima and the smaller Okinawan islands ftw.

okinawa is great, but some okinawans wont like you because you're american.
be aware of the cultural differences between okinawans and the japanese and it may help though.

Well, if you are going to okinawa, be sure to try to see a good show. Okoinawa is central to a lot of the aspects of modern japanese music, especially reggae and hip hop. They have an exellent music scene and great venues which forged some of the best.

Not only that, but okinawa, being independent from japan until the modern age, has much of its culture and language still existent most everywhere you go, even in the food and cultural practices. So keep an eye out for any okinawan showcases of such, be it a festival or performance. Okinawa is the hawaii of japan, so, sun, good beaches, and amazing wildlife and nature lie in its islands. I find urumi and okinawa city particularly charming, more than Naha which seems a bit too "japanese" lol. If you can, go and see the lighthouse, they say its haunted so be careful.

Anyway, thats all i got for you fello channer.

When do you want to go? Since you were there already you should know that travelling there between June and September is rather stupid.

I graduate from business school in about 6 months from now. that makes it sept I guess.

I've been to japan when I was really young to visit relatives in the summer time, and it was fucking hot in Tokyo. Having been there about 2 months ago, it was cold, but not as cold as vancouver.

I've been to Shikoku - I liked it. Try traveling down the southern coast till the rail system ends, then catch busses up to Matsumyama.

I've met a few Americans whilst traveling.

95% were fine. 5% were indeed fat and looked like the should be back in 'Bama... there were like 5 of them - and I'm stunned they they got the cash together to go overseas.

Don't hate a country - hate the people. I'ts better for the soul.

I did. I took the Dosan Line (Limited Express, Nanpu) from Kochi to Kubokawa, then tranferred to the Yodo Line (Local) from Wakai to Uwajima. It took 5 fucking hours one way (connections, etc). It made me wish the (now defunct) I LOVE Shimanto Limited Express still ran from Kochi from Matsuyama.

Yeah, but spread it out over a few days - you'll get to see some awesome surf towns... no really surf towns in Japan.

yeah I've always wanted to spend some more time there. Just 2 days wasn't enough.

I've been to Japan last year and I'm ready to go again late this year but it feels like a waste to go to Tokyo again. What does the rest of the country offer? Considering Osaka/Kyoto region.

>>14175
Osaka has: accents, cheap food, delicious food, landmarks (i.e. a castle), HANSHIN TIGERS, kuidaore, and the fucking dotombori

Kyoto has: a shitload of temples, shrines, expensive food, geishas and that street they often pass by in Gion quarter, shijo-dori and the road leading up to kiyomizu (sells kyoto things)

If you like to venture a little further, try Nara and Kobe as well.

I think I may hit up Tokyo AGAIN and some other part of the country during my next visit. I just discovered ANA's One Pass

http://www.ana.co.jp/wws/us/e/travelservice/reservations/special/airpass.html
I know JAL has something similar.
Maybe Fukuoka. Maybe Sapporo. Somewhere.

It depends on where in Japan and when and how often. They're pretty much on-par with each other as far as I can tell. Notice that there are blackout periods.
