So... I need to live somewhere for three years to run away from the military drafting my ass and since my father is paying for all the expenses, the choice is pretty much up to my taste.

I'm currently considering Switzerland. I'm familiar with the place as my sister went to high school in Geneva, and I visited pretty often - nice landscape, quiet and peaceful etc. but I was always there as a "tourist" - only stayed at hotels etc. So I'm not sure how easy it will be to live there, since I don't really speak the language.

I'm thinking Geneva naturally, but I have occasionally run into people with no knowledge of English - might prove to be a bit difficult, and while my girlfriend does speak enough French to get by initially, I hate relying on other people. Now, I speak little-to-none High German, which I believe will be useless anyway, but the tax benefits are compelling, so Zug too is a valid choice.

Then there are other issues - the Swiss are extremely hardass about who lives in their country, and while I don't give a flying fuck about getting citizenship, will I be able to stay there legally for three years provided I'm the partial owner of a company there? Any other issues you think that may arise or other recommendations for the epic three-year runaway?

Yeah, a bit boring, but nice anyways.

Protip: There isn't a draft.

What, Israel?

They won't let you because they'll be afraid you'll ask for your jew gold back

Turk?

How do you just "become" the partial owner of a company?
>> Anonymous
>>44645
Yes
>>44635
Not Israeli, but I might try my luck with Jew gold anyways. Besides avoiding military service in Israel is easier as far as I know.

>>44650
A relative of yours owns a company that no longer actually does any work - he gives you some shares and voila.

Senden nefret ediyorum. Fucking richer.

go to sweden, we are almost the same as the swiss, but with better laws, less racism and a rather nice pile of jew gold

>>44628

It's an English speaking country. What English speaking country has a draft?
>> Anonymous
>>44671
Err... no.

>>44657
As a communist I can fully sympathize but as a rich faggot this is why I we can't have nice things. Hmm...
>> Anonymous
>>44670
Yeah, I've read some stuff on http://www.englishforum.ch about residence in Switzerland and it's starting to depress me. Does anyone have links/first hand experience about Sweden?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
THERE'S NOTHING I HATE MORE THAN A RICH COMMUNIST

>>44671
Maybe he’s Korean and happens to know how to speak English. They still have a draft.
>> Anonymous
>>44676
Yeah, I understand. But in my defense, my father is self-made and he's a communist -he used to be poor- it just rubbed off to me.

Ireland will take anyone with money.

I haven't heard of many people going to Ireland. What about racism/xenophobia and christfaggotry?

Go to Finland. We speak fluently english (better than the native english speakers) and have things going smoothly. Free education, social care and all that. High taxes though, but plenty of jobs with real good salary (if you know to demand the right prices; even we have those guys who take foreign workers, like 1 dollar per hour or something. Luckily we have officials watching that)

1 dollar USD or AUD/CAD??? If the former then you're getting royally screwed by the system.

op: just do your time in the military you fucking faggot. what is it, like one year? two? it will be character building, something you obviously lack.

so where is the best place to run to if you want to avoid being drafted?

CANADA

Finland too sounds nice, but like Sweden since I'm not going to be there permanently high tax isn't outset by nice things like education for me. But yeah, worth looking into.

>>44706
Oh no, never. Why spend a year of my life doing either forced labor or fighting in some shitty remote mountain when I can get away with 20 days of virtually nothing.

Where the hell is OP claiming to be from that he is a native English-speaker in fear of being drafted into the military?

OP, are you from Albania, Algeria, Angola, Austria, Bhutan, Brazil, China, Cuba, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iran, Israel, North Korea, South Korea, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Moldova, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, Syria, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, or Turkey? If not, why this trollish attempt to start a conversation on where you should to go slake your thirst for wandering?
>> DamOTclese
Holland would be a good choice. They don't like Christian fascists and Christian terrorists so they would probably protect you.

I'm not the OP, but I'm wondering, does Switzerland really suck that much? I like Zurich, Bern, and the Ticino area, they seem like nice, safe, beautiful places, but I keep hearing you guys say it's boring as hell and there's a bit of racism/xenophobia going on. What's the truth about Switzerland? And besides Sweden, is there a place that shares the best characteristics of Switzerland (natural beauty, nice cities, overall safety) without all the crap?

Oh yeah, and what the fuck do you guys mean by "Jew gold", anyway? I can probably guess, but don't really get the reference.

here's one thing about Switzerland, they banned kosher slaughter (one of the first things banned in the third reich) and are trying to ban importing kosher food, they are a racist nazi-esque state

I did say I was from Turkey, and I never said I was a native English speaker.

GJ. We also have compulsory military service. Way to get out of the fire and into the frying pan.

Also, a good example of fluently english (better than the native english speakers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeAVWhXhukc

OP is not after emigrating and getting a citizenship, dummy. There's nothing keeping him from going to a country with military draft. He only has to prove to the Turkish authorities that he has worked 3 years abroad so he can just pay his way out of it.

>>44672
I hate you even more now. Stop giving me the "We communists don't want everyone to be equal in poverty, we want everyone to have nice things" speech, that's like the most retarded argument ever. What you are doing is you are using the power at your disposal to separate and isolate yourself from the less well off.

>>44724
>doing either forced labor or fighting in some shitty remote mountain
Chances of the latter are very low and the former might help you get a fucking grip on how millions of people make their livings.
>> Anonymous
>>44827
Pay? That's bonkers.

...
Oh wow one really can. Pay or 21 days and so. I was expecting a need to completely seek citizenship abroad to evade, like pretty much everywhere else.

Turkey seems more bonkers each day. Now I seriously want to go there and see the madness for myself.
Sa? olun.
>> Anonymous
>>44831
More like 'pay and 21 days or so'. The normal duration changes between 6 (as a corporal) or 12 months (as a lieutenant with okay pay) for draftees with university degrees and 15 months for those with anything below a university degree. No conscientious objection.

I will also seek employment abroad when my service draws near, I currently have a right to two years of deferment since I just graduated from university. I don't mind the draft that much, but I would like to live abroad for a few years regardless and wouldn't say no to this side benefit.

Despite OT, I have a question I don't think warrants a new thread (and a native türk in this one): How fucked is one without command of the local language in Turkey? Outside tourist resorts that is. In South America and Japan, for example, you're in for a world of hurt and frustration if you don't know spanish or japanese, respectively. How is Turkey if you don't know turkish apart from a few words picked up from Cüneyt Arkin flicks?
>> Anonymous
>>44854
Speaking English isn't very common in Turkey, but don't worry, everyone switches to a universal semi-sign language when they realize you don't speak Turkish.
>> Anonymous
>>44854
No idea about South America but I can guarantee you it's better than Japan. At least most of the young people in Turkey speak beginner level English. But this is mostly in big cities. There're also a lots of words in Turkish derived from English. You don't have much chance with older people and people living in rural areas. All in all you'll get screwed if you only rely on English, get ready to treated with signs.
