I'm moving to Boston in the summer! What's it like? Advice?

In before don't move there.

The T sucks, walk (everything is practically in walking distance). If you're traveling by RT. 9 East, plan AHEAD and go out AT LEAST half an hour earlier (for now at least, I don't know how it's going to be in the summer). Other than that it's pretty much like "the departed".

Grab a game at Fenway Park once a week or consider yourself worthless. And don't forget to stop by El Tiante, it's got great sandwiches.

I'm assuming that the T is the rail transit? Well that's good to know (the leave 30 minutes early bit), I'm taking it every day to get to college and back home.

Will do.

Also I've heard that Boston is a shitty place for biking. Any input on that?

I wonder how the big dig affected that (a topic which also goes well with /o/ and now /n/).

The big dig is bullshit. It's just a way for the government to pay the local mafia.

Well there are times where you have to take the T. Just some advice: the Redline is alright but it gets sketchy at times. I've heard of shootings happening on the orange line. The green line is the best, but once it's open air you can't use your ticket to board again if you make a mistake on your stop (basically if you're taking lines B-D and you hit kenmore you're fucked if it goes express... which could happen at night). Haven't taken the Blue line so I don't know about that too much. Also really that half an hour thing only applies if you drive on RT. 9 into Boston in the morning. Otherwise don't worry about it. But yeah walk. Personally, I wouldn't ride my bike, but that's just me (I see people riding their bikes all the time).

There is a Dunkin' Donuts on every block. It's not even funny there are so many. Get used to their shit, because it's all you're going to be having.

Where in boston? Stay away from southie and west roxbury, those are the shitholes of the state.

Traffic sucks, weather sucks, cops tend to be assholes. Avoid rushhour on the pike (I-90) and Rt. 9, it turns into one big 4 hour clusterfuck.

If you want a nice day trip, and you like the outdoors, I suggest heading to metro-west, west boylston has a few nice places to walk around. If you head north of there, towards Sterling and Princeton, theres TONS of nice places to walk around, Wachusett mountain is a nice hike, and its also nice to drive around.

30 dollars round trip to new york's chinatown. There's also the fungwah (which is a bit more shady... small buss explosions and stuff like that).

I'm not sure on the specifics. I'm moving there for college, my parents are handling the apartment and such.

I'll be attending college in Newton though.

I like there coffee a lot so that shouldn't be a problem.

Boston really isn't that dangerous.

No one is getting to shoot you unless they have a good reason to.
