What an Irish exchange student said:
If you aren't an alcoholic you are one in training.

Go see the countryside and go to every pub on the way. Get hammered and back-pack.

I'm pretty much just wandering with some friends for 2 weeks.

Also, I'm Irish and catholic, so no real limits on how drunk I can get

Be careful to not drink too much.

Liquor can be expensive.

Expect rain, and €4-5 a pint depending on where you are and what you're getting (cheaper if you get stout or some piss like Fosters).

A good way to get along with Irish people would be to NEVER say "Yeah, I'm Irish: my great grandfather lived in Ireland" or such like.

a) Its fucking freezing.
b) The rain will soak through you
c) Stay away from caravan sites(damn itinerants!)
d) Buy booze in a spar/mace/centra or offy, then drink in your room. Pub booze is ridiculously expensive. Besides, knacker drinking is an irish tradition at this stage!
e) You're not irish. Don't claim it through ancestry. Price mark-up will multiply, and you'll be lucky if you're left with the clothes on your back.
f)Don't come to ireland
