Hey /trv/, I'm in Seattle, Washington until the 10th and last time I was here I went to the Space Needle and was basically not really impressed. It's a rotating building that's not particularly high up (I live near San Francisco, so I guess these typically touristy things got old really quickly).

Anyway, the short version is I'm looking for something interesting to do. Either something unique to this week or in general, I'm open to just about anything. I'm visiting my dad, but he's working all day so I've got most of these days to myself. Driving's fine, bus is fine, etc... but I don't drink, so "lol go 2 the bar at ___ and ____" is generally discouraged...

Advice? Thanks in advance.

Asteroid Cafe in Fremont has really good italian food (for the past ten years) and by the sound of things they won't be open for more than a week longer.

My favorite place to eat in Seattle (the only part of going into Seattle I enjoy) is Yanni's Greek Restaurant in the Greenwood neighborhood. Even though you don't drink, have a cup of ouzo to wash down those dolmathes.

Go for a hike outdoors. Beautiful country up here.

Yikes, are they doing poorly in business or just closing down for other reasons?

Well, I'll make sure to check those places out. I'm actually in Kirkland, which is a nice area just outside of Seattle and near Belmont, but regardless the whole "city" aspect of it is lacking compared to the bay area, so I was a little less impressed. I'll try to focus on getting out and enjoying the scenery more, but to be honest I'm just the kind of guy who prefers to be around society and buildings, technology, etc... more than trees and trails. I'm not a basement dweller, but hopefully you get the idea.

Does anyone know if it's generally safe just to go walking around in Seattle, or if there are dangerous neighborhoods or anything like that about which I should be careful? Obviously it's a city so there is some danger, but is any particular place particularly more dangerous than normal?

If you have enough free time, you really should drive up to Vancouver BC. Alot cooler than Seattle.

Go to the public library, designed by Rem Koolhaas. Or take the Boeing factory tour, it's cool. You can go to the public market, that's fun, too. Or get a free tour at the UW. Tons of stuff to do.
