Honestly, I have no idea how Sweden as a country is doing. It seems that every two months, the economy toggles between "tanking" and "booming". The job market is supposedly good (or shit, depending on who you ask), especially for young people, but I haven't gotten a job (though I'm still in school).
The weather is ass-backwards, there has been NO SNOW in Stockholm this winter, save for a few days in november and early january. The road administration ought to be happy about this since their incompetence to keep the streets clear of snow won't be utterly obvious this year as opposed to previous years.
But other than that, life here is good. The girls are pretty. In fashion and music, the Swedish scene seems to be where it's at. There are many hot Swedish clothing brands and bands right now. Internet, vidya games, animu and sci-fi is easy to come by.
It's a good country to be a geek in, with a mostly underground but thriving community of roleplayers, card gamers and larpers (not the LIGHTNING BOLT! kind - Swedish larps are Serious Business). Given this, I did not expect that my nationality would cause any surprise - I thought Swedes were pretty common on 4chan.
Attached photo shows one of the staples of the Stockholm geek - the gaming cafe M@trix Web World, easily accessible by subway.
