I've been on a cruise. For the most part the employees seem to be foreign, leading me to assume that cruise lines thrive on cheap labor despite the reputation of cruises as a strictly upper-class venture.
So no, I don't imagine it pays very well... but hey! Lodging and food are covered!
I doubt it's a very good way to sightsee. I mean, you definitely go to interesting places, but while the passengers are out and about you've probably got duties to perform. So, in essence, you get to see some really interesting ports. From a distance. Repeatedly, so even that slight novelty would probably wear off quickly.
As for danger... I don't think so. Safety is one of their primary concerns. Danger from what, exactly? Sinking? Rowdy passengers?
