fuck these things are more complicated than I thought.

Anyone have a guide how to use one. First time traveller/basementfag. I'll start:

Need to be 2 hours present BEFORE the departure time displayed.

Yeah, you never know if there's going to be a hueg line at the check in or security. Or maybe TSA will want to tear your luggage apart, and that takes awhile. Also, most flights close the doors about 15 minutes BEFORE the scheduled departure time.

However, it also depends on the airport. The last flight I was on in the US was out of a small regional airport, so I could waltz in there 45 minutes before the plane took off.

You can't bring bottled drinks across the security line. Sorry :(

Make sure you're there on time in foreign airports. Flying out of Italy you're supposed to be there 2 hours before departure time. They actually shut down the computers and won't check you in when the deadline hits. A huge group of schoolkids was trying to fly back to the states and the agents only checked in half before the deadline. It was a big deal because all of the adults were checked in but about 20 12-13 year old kids weren't. The Italian boarding agents insisted that everyone checked in had to leave and everyone not checked in had to stay.

Granted, it was Italy - But since the rest of the world seems to admire and currently want to imitate that kind of fuckedupedness, I wouldn't take any chances elsewhere either. Just ask what the rules are when you land.

A couple of fifty-euro notes would have fixed that problem, it being Italy and all.
