i live in macon myself, not really much here to see, a few antebellum houses and some indian burial mounds.
i would suggest savannah, its a pretty sweet town, if you want to see some good mountains, go north, i used to go to school in dahlonega, nice around fall, a lot of good places to camp and hike in north eastern georgia as well. the okeefenokee swamp is tits, if you like alligators and mosquitos.
try taking the back highways instead of the interstates, you'll see a lot of random shit that rednecks have erected, and go through a lot of cool little towns.
