*sigh* I'm so ronrey.

I arrived in Tokyo a couple of days ago. Normally I'm happy being a loner but it sure would be nice to do touristy shit with someone.

Any Anonymii nearby wanting to fill in some time on a weekday? I'm here all week... those lolis won't raep themselves dammit!

(pic is something random from my hotel's computer... I haven't so much as previewed it)

hi, new to /trv/. Dunno if people freak out about newbies in this section like they do in /b/. How many people in /trv/ live in japan? OP, why are you in Japan and how is it?

i do admit it does get a bit lonely in japan, since Japanese tend to keep to themselves, but hell its also very fun, i have more american and korean friends in japan than i do japanese

When I was in Atami watching the fireworks, I was by myself where everything else was a couple. I felt so roney :(

I live in Miyagi. I don't think I'd want to meet someone who can't entertain them self in Tokyo.

So how about clubbing? I've heard alcohol and parties are the only way to let out some steam for Japs. Is this true?

Clubbing in tokyo or Osaka can get you laid fairly easy if the right girl happens to be there, you'll do better if you are with friends too because she will certainly be. Then eventually you can break off from the group and go for a walk...
But most of the women at clubs are just there to go out with their friends.
As a previous post mentioned, sign up for Mixi! It is like myspace, and is popular with all ages-- you can meet online, which makes a lot of women more comfortable, especially if they are already married, or don't want friends to see them going out and getting picked up.
I ended up sleeping with way more gaijin girls during my two years in tokyo. I only wish I had discovered mixi sooner, because the two times it worked for me were way great. The minute you start texting back and forth and flirting (clumsily) you're almost there because you already have so much more to go on.
If into swinging or group "activity", adult friend finder has a category for Japan. Really only useful if you are a single woman or a couple. While I had a girlfriend there, though, we were invited to plenty of "events", and there are plenty of other gaijin couples looking for fun too (vacation mentality) not to mention japanese couples who are curious.

cold flu prevention/prevention of spreading
also, in places like tokyo (but really nationwide) there's FUCKTONS of cedar pollen. HUGE GIANT VISIBLE CLOUDS OF IT, ROAMING THE CITY, WAITING TO BE INHALED. The masks help stave off hayfever and other environmental allergies.

Also, in polluted cities like Beijing, they keep you from inhaling particulates and getting like, coal miner's lung while going about your daily stuff.
