Ok guys, going to NYC for the weekend and looking for some suggestions on things to do. This will be my 4th or 5th time here so I've already done all the obvious touristy stuff.. Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, most of Central Park, Times Square, all the Little Italy type places, Metropolitan Museum... couple of stipulations though:

-not interested in clubs/bars/trying to get laid, i can do that anytime anywhere, wanna do some stuff that can only be done in NYC
-not interested in shopping/buying stuff. i can buy anything i want off the internet.
-looking more for interesting land marks (other than the above) to see, outstanding places to eat, events like art shows/movie festivals/conventions or just nice places to chill out and relax..

a nice place to chill out and relax is Union Square.
check out Strand Bookstore on 12th Street and Broadway
check out the MoMA if you haven't been there already
it's way too pricey, but worth it if you're visiting from out of town.
oh and pick up "The L Magazine" or The Village Voice if you wanna see what festivals, movies, etc are happening currently. Both are great guides.

as far as landmarks go, man i don't know.
it depends on who you are and what you're interested in.
I consider Edgar Allan Poe's house on 85 West 3rd Street a landmark.
Speaking of Poe, Edgar's Cafe on West 84th Street is delicioso.
For breakfast, check out The Spotted Pig or Clinton Street Baking Co.

-walk around chinatown. eat everything.

-visit the bronx zoo. POP pass for everything inside zoo will be $25

-ride the cyclone at astroland in coney island, brooklyn.

recently I went on a walking tour starting southstreet sea port. Biking across the brooklyn bridge, walking is fine too, and then going down towards the court and city hall. There are some nice places to eat around there. Before heading back over the bridge get an icecream and then make your way to that one church that I forget the name of but its close to ground zero.
Sorry I'm really bad with street names and directions.
But do try to make it to MoMa. Theres a really cool show about Dali right now,,.

Hey OP, where did you take your picture from? I've been living in New York for the past month and I still haven't seen those buildings.

Now, are you saying that as a fan of Dali or as a non fan of Dali.
Your opinion wouldn't matter in the latter.

if you are willing to leave the island, try to find the mitsuwa market place just on the other side of the river. great food and japanese shoping. that river front is fun to walk as well.
