Going to Milano, Italy for a few days. Anything you can recommend to go see, go do, go eat?

Picture quite possibly related, but just as much possibly not.

dont eat pizza, despite all the hype, italians, tend to treat pizzas as we treat fast-food hamburgers and microwave-dinners

I've done Rome, Orvieto, Fiesole and Florence, but not Milano. If you have any local contacts you trust at all, get restaurant recommendations from them. Don't go to restaurants in the touristy areas, and for god's sake don't go into restaurants that are full of Brits.

Getting food in the daytime, sandwiches to go: Know that 'panino' is singular and 'panini' is plural. Look for the little 'Tavolo Calda' (hot table) places. Find the ones that are jam-packed full of locals at lunchtime. That's where you want to buy a panino or a pizza.

And yeah, post a photo of the right city next time.

You've been there? I hear it's dirty, dirtier than Rome in fact. What else makes it shitty?

So... you're saying it's okay to hang out with them, in their camps, as long as they're on fire?

Italyfag here.
From the scenery/touristic point of view, Milano is maybe the worst of the big cities in italy. Aside from the Duomo and some lurking into he centre, there's not much to see.
Food is one of the worst in italy, but still decent if you avoid the touristic traps. Ask some Milanesi about some good place to eat.
Shopping is great in the centre, especially if you have lots of money and are into fashion stuff.
Nightlife is busy and maybe the best of Italy if you know where to go, lots of clubs. Again, you have to ask local people about it.
