Fuck off france. There“re better Countrys in Europe!

Ausfag here. I've never understood this bullshit stereotype. The French are some of the most friendly, open and welcoming people I've ever encountered... No doubt have a real passion for life.

The amount of times you see douchebag tourists yelling in public, approaching people in English, lacking even BASIC courtesies, it's no wonder if they're met with a rude/scornful reaction...
And imagine if you worked in Paris and had to contend with these retard tourists everyday. If you act civil, you'll be treated respectfully, if you act like the aforementioned tourist, expect to be treated like the dirt you are.

french people are alright. Speak the language and be polite you'll be okay. Parisians are fucking cunts though. Also... french youth culture is really really silly.

Idiot. French People eating Frogs!

Frogs only get mad when you don't speak there language, even though its a shitty one. Sounds like someones choking on a fucking roll. My friend was in Amsterdam and got shook by some random bastard. He said FUCK YOU AMERICAN! So just denounce Bush in Europe and you'll be fine, although you should do that anywayz

Courteous and polite. The beggars on the other hand are a real problem. Got kicked twice in Paris when i politely declined to give them cash, then in Grenoble i got followed around by 4 gypsy women when i wouldn't buy shit.

The rest were lovely.

It's only a stereotype that Americans loaned from the English.
I find Parisians not really rude but cold though. I much prefer the French countryside (also it's much cheaper).

Polishfag here staying in France for his internship:

The French are extremely polite people. But that may be because I speak French.

This. In my country the stereotype is that the French are too polite, to the point of being obsequious.

Parisians are a little rude but no more rude than Londoners or New Yorkers.

A lot less rude than people in Chicago.

People in other countries never usually live up to stereotypes. French people are pretty nice from what I've experienced. The only stereotype that holds is germans wit their beach towels at pools.

im studying in paris right now.
if you ask me its really complicated. of course you run into douche bags, anywhere, and some french can get unreasonably rude.
however
most of the time theyre super nice and helpful (outside of paris this is much more common). also 2nd what the guy said about french youth culture.

just try to speak their language

they are also very properly mannered, and conduct themselves in a certain way in public, when eating, etc.
i live in a residence with a bunch of ppl and you'd never see a french person eating spaghetti from the pot. they'd put it on a place. i also get stupid comments from french faggots about the food i eat (ooh american meal) but then i just tell them that i bought it at a french grocery store. but these are the rude/douche bags, not the nice ones.

i guess french service is just so indifferent, which could be confused for rude. they dont work hard to earn your patronage/tip (cuz you dont tip) but they dont ignore you completely.

bums are more pleasant in paris. they dont harangue you and talk to you for 15 minutes on a street corner about stupid shit like they do at home trying to get a dollar. they usually just sit with a sign or a cup or ride the metro and ask.

Parisians are pretty rude to each other at least from an outsider looking in, actually. I've been to Paris 11 times, though, and have never encountered any anti-American sentiment at all or anything of the sort...anyone I ever spoke to was really very nice.
