IQALUIT!

Has anyone visited? I would love to visit this epic little town but I assume it's extremely difficult without Canadian citizenship (Mexifag here).

THERE ARE NO TREES GUYS HOW FUKKEN COOL IS THAT.

I love reading about far-north hellholes (born in Fargo), but I'm too scared of wendigo to go back!

Are the southern Greenland Cities bigger? Of course that must be a soourthern city Greenland is way up there.

Sorry if I worded it confusingly, but I'm actually from Fargo. I know all about the vampires.

lolwut?
just catch one of the bush planes. They're (literally) the only way to travel through the Canadian north.

Not difficult at all. Get on a plane and then get on another plane. You don't need a citizen ship to be a tourist.

Drove up through Quebec To Labrador City and then On to Goosebay where I was lucky enough to catch a guy flying supplies up to Iqaluit.
only reason to go there is for some crazy back country camping. One of the harshest environments Ive been in and it was the middle of August.
pic related its the fucking frozen north

That sounds wonderful. I'd love to do something like that, but I'd be scared to go somewhere with no roads connecting it to the "mainland". Pic is an Iqaluit parade.

You should visit the Aleutians. There aren't any trees there either.

If you have the money, it shouldn't be hard to get to Iqaluit. IIRC, several airlines based from Ottawa make regular scheduled flights there. Your Mexican passport shouldn't be a problem (although the border agents may laugh a bit when you tell them where you're going).

PROTIP MEXIFAGGOT YOU WILL BE FROZEN STIFF ITS FUCKING COLD

There's practically no way of transporting there. No planes, trains or any high speed transportation. So how would you get there you ask? Either you drive from a nearby province (which isn't too nearby) or you walk from Northwest Territories, which by the time you reach there, you would have already been frozen to death ten days before. Yes, makes much sense.

Open the original picture. Do you see a wing? One guess as to what mode of transportation that wing is attached to!

Walking through the arctic ocean usually causes one to drown before one freezes to death.

If I were going to the Arctic, I'd go to Alert, the northernmost permanently inhabited place in the world.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alert%2C_Nunavut

But I don't think it's open to tourists, and there probably isn't anything there to see, anyway (only 5 people living there).

how about murmansk, russia?

iqaluit is a shithole full of natives and inuit

Nunavut's crest is fucking awesome.

lol sombrero

If I can be pedantic, the correct term is blazon or coat of arms, the crest is just the crown or helmet specifically.

>If I can be pedantic

No, I won't allow any pedanticness on /trv/.

(Thanks for the tip though, I'd rather look ignorant online than off)

Iqualuit is lovely.

Make sure to hear some stories, the Nunavimmut have some of the best.

Also, if you ever do go, contact me. I work with the gvt of nunavut and can probably get you all sorts of touristy information, possibly even brochures and stuff.

Be warned, plenty of smokers, plenty of alcoholics. No rape, no violence outside of the occasional barfight or hubby-beating-wife. There's not much to do other than explore to be honest. But exploring is a life-long event =).

First Air does a flight to Iqaluit every day from Ottawa.

Head to Mootxico City, to wherever in the US, to Ottawa, then up via First Air.

0/10.

We fly supplies to most of the communities and it's how we get patients down.
