How feasible is it to travel alone for a fairly extensive period of time (say a few months)? More importantly, what additional precautions should one take on top of the usual? If it helps, my intention is to go from London through Northern Europe to Tallinn, stay with local friends for a while, then fly to Bangkok where my rich tax-evading uncle will fund any further endeavours.

Oh and in response to the obvious "why the fuck would you do such a thing", I genuinely cannot convince any fuckers to join me.

Oh, and the reason it'll take a few months is that I've saved quite a lot of money so I plan to spend a decent amount of time in each country I visit.

very feasible! Especially if you're staying with friends, just make sure you offer them the same in return if they come to visit your area! You might get homesick though, for stupid home-like things (the food, the type of milk available, etc) Another big thing is luggage. If you're going to be spending that much time away, you'll have to find a way to either take a lot of luggage with you or survive on the minimum and discard stuff as you're going, or else you're going to have to lug around big suitcases and stuff, which you don't want to do if you're moving around a lot. Or you can ship your stuff ahead of you to bangkok~

Yeah, luggage can be a pain. Try not to bring more than a week's worth of clothing and visit laundromat's often, just one heavy and one light jacket, etc. If you can sew, bring a small sewing kit in case you get a hole in your pants or something, since you'll be wearing the same clothes all the time.

As for luggage storage, most hotels and hostels have a luggage room where you can leave your stuff after having checked out, so you can still spend the whole day in the city on the day of your departure without lugging your bags around. If this isn't an option, most train stations and airports have luggage storage for slightly expensive hourly/daily rates.

Okay, that's really useful to know, thanks.

Is it worth getting a cheap used car to get around Yurop then sell/abandon it at the end of that leg, or should I sacrifice the freedom to roam for the economics of public transport?

Take a max 60 Litre expedition pack and a small compressible daypack...and keep your essentials hidden on your body - passport and wallet. Google for backpacking tips. there's good guides on what to pack and what not to pack.

Will do. I guess personal security is one of my main concerns considering I'll be alone in a foreign land for a long time.

You'll be fine except for the days diarrhea hits. Shit happens, don't worry.
