My brother and I are planning on traveling europe next summer and we're wondering about transportation. We plan to be traveling between three and six months. How viable is hitchhiking? What about the rail or bus systems?
keep well clear of great briton if your travelling by train it'd take you between 3 and six months to travel 100 miles on our shitty always late or delayed trains. Also hitching should be fine in the rest of europe but give it a miss in the U.K as people are too busy in a hurry to get somewhere to pick up stinking traveleers. It was hard enough 15 years ago when i did a lot of hitching but now days you'd be better off walking i recon
Hitchhiking is viable.Every larger city is connected by train and bus.You should think about using Inter Rail.http://www.interrailnet.com
i second inter rail
Rail is perfect in France/Belgium/Holland/Germany. The network is dense, reliable and quite affordable. It sucks in Great-Britain. Don't know about the other countries. Also remember that not all countries in Europe are Schengen countries. You might need a visa in some.
>>31219>and quite affordablexD
rail passes would be a good bet you can get a whole bunch of days to travel within any period of time it is very useful
also easyjet, Ryanair, Berlinair, Condor, etc there are a bunch of airlines that fly cheaper than some of their rail counterparts, its worth a look
>>31224You can get from A to B using DB and other companies within Germany for 29 (if you book in advance). In groups of 5 even starting from 7 p.p. (slower, though, and only on weekends). The bad thing about DB is, that the trains aren't on-time.STÖRUNGEN IM BETRIEBSABLAUF YEAH!
