East Coast vs. West Coast Anonymous
Dear /trv/,

As I am about to graduate college, I am stuck in a debate in my own mind. I'm having trouble deciding where I should go, as both sides have astounding qualities.

If I go to the west coast, it'll either be Washington or Oregon (the green sides, not the desert sides.)

If I go to the east coast, it'll be up somewhere around Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Conneticut, etc.

Both places have nice cities, and some awesome scenery.

So what I'm asking from you guys, is those who might live in the areas, what do you think about it? What are the pros vs cons? Any help would be wonderful!

Westsiiiiide!

By the way, good troll. East coast vs. west coast, it's going to be great.

Actually, it wasn't meant to be a troll. I'm not trying to get people fighting here, :O; I just want to know why people might choose the west over the east, or vice versa.

People often say the west side is more laid back, but the east coast has more history and culture. Honestly, they're not that different to me.

If you're looking at the Northeast, New York is okay, I live smack in the middle, lots of nice woodland, but horribly boring, NYC is aight, too busy for my, the Adirondacks are awesome if you're looking for country-living. the New England states are all pretty balanced, most of pretty decent, while maintaining active city structure. Dunno much about West siiide.

i dont know why chicago fell from grace the way it did
it used to be the second city, and the second place to be in the country after new york.
my how quickly things change.
la is enjoying its moment in the sun but it wont last. well.. itll last exactly until they'll run out of water, which will be soon.

Just stay away from LA. Both sides have great things about them, to be honest I'd gravitate towards the one you haven't lived in. By the way, if you live in Chicago for even a second, you'll become one of those assholes (like me) who talks about it so much that no one ever forgets they are from Chicago.

As someone who has lived in both Chicago and New York, I can tell you that the Chicago pride fades as you move away from the hick towns of the Midwest and towards a real population center on one of the coasts. In a real city, nobody cares about Chicago.

chicago is a real city. it has 10 million people living in it. it's about the size of all three largest cities in europe, moscow, london and paris, which are all about 10 million.
la and ny are not normal cities, theyre metropoliseseses, like tokyo, seoul and other such gargantuan asian urban-sprawl-type cities.

Chicago does seem pretty cool.

But I like the idea of laid backness that was brought up about the West coast. Is Chicago like that at all? Other than the mass pride thing of course.

DO NOT WANT

The NYC area is full of AIDS, niggers, guidos, and Yankees fans. The northeast is great except for that gaping Ebola-filled abyss in the middle called NYC. Closest I ever lived to WESTSIDESTORY was Phoenix, which was fun.

(original Chicagofag here) I'm in LA now, nothing makes me happier than being able to distance myself from a "real city".

I would just like to say one thing: FUCK NEW YORK.

Where do you ingrates get off acting like you're the center of culture and class in America? Fuck you. Fuck you and your crappy, drug swamped, crime ridden hell hole of a town.

Fuck your constant traffic jams. Fuck your shitty ass subway system, which, if you can ever find a time when it's actually running on schedule, really amounts to nothing more than a series of sewage pipes, covered in graffiti and forever reeking of piss. Fuck your taxi drivers, hot dog salesmen, rich ass faggoty dog walkers, and the next time some shit face yells at me with that stupid, STUPID Brooklyn accent, there will be killing.

New York has only ever had two centers of real class or culture, one being the World Trade Center, where people from other, better, cities, routinely visited, and the UN building. The WTC is obviously gone (and NY'ers, stfu about how you miss it, you never noticed it even when it was there and you know it. fags) and the UN building, and nobody gives a shit about the UN anymore anyway.

Oh, there's the Radio City music hall, but bfd, every city has a place like that, what makes that one so special? The only remotely redeeming thing about NY is Central Park, but don't ever think about actually taking a stroll through, it, there's a 1 in 5 chance you'll be raped and/or murdered the second you step foot there.

As for the Statue of Liberty, it's French, not American. Of course, given the average IQ of a New Yorker and the current level of it's public education system, I seriously doubt many of them even know that fact.

Despite what you may think, the rest of the country doesn't envy you New York. In fact, we spend much of our time mocking you and pitying you poor saps. You actually think New York is a good place to live? Fuck you, your city SUCKS.

Be ready to pay up the ass to live on either coast. Live in the South and your retirement account will thank you.

Agreed that upstate NY is awesomesauce (I live in the Adirondack Park) but moving here right now is a bad idea. There are few jobs. Yes yes, the economy sucks everywhere right now, but it is REALLY bad up here unless you want to work in tourism (hotels, restaurants), mills (paper), or poor-paying data entry. I'm being forced to leave the area to find anything decent and I want to work in natural sciences. How strange is that?

NY has the lowest crime rate of any major city in the US, our subways don't have a schedule, they just come, and there hasn't been grafitti on them for decades (unless you count the scratched stuff). And the traffic is terrible because people actually want to be here. You niggers are just jealous, none of you have ever been here.

Noone went to the WTC because it sucked, they were two giant ugly buildings with nothing on the ground level
