/trv/,

I haven't been to Six Flags Magic Mountain in ten years until today. When I went today, I realized that it wasn't the same Magic Mountain I knew and loved as a child. First, I noticed that the rides were in terrible shape and were in desperate need of upkeep. The paint was chipping and fading, the lights flickered (where it was obviously out of character), and the harnesses were deteriorated. Second, the big crowds of the 90's were not as big as they were before, and the excitement and enthusiasm the guests had before was not there.

What I don't understand is that Magic Mountain is a really good park. It has the best thrill rides in the country, a decent location, awesome views, beautiful scenery....its just a real shame that nobody is taking care of it anymore. There's no big crowds, no excitement, none of the old magic...in short, Magic Mountain blows.

What do you fags think of Magic Mountain?

Yea, I'm from Saint Louis and we have a really popular Six Flags here, but as the rides get older they barely take care of the place. Entire quadrants of the park are run down as shit. After taking a vacation to LA and going to Universal Studios I was amazed. The fucking back to the future ride from 1984 was in better shape than some of the brand new rides at my Six Flags. Even though it wasn't very exciting, I didn't feel like I was going to get a disease from the place.

Constant Magic Mountain visitor here.

I can KIND of see what you mean to an extent. I notice as well that some of the big "oomph" has been stripped away as far as spirit goes.

However, the fact that the park is #2 to coaster capacity in the US tells me that they are obviously doing something right. But some older ones do need maintenance and touch ups, no denying that.

Perhaps they'll focus more on the overall experience of the park again in the near future instead of purely letting their rides do the talking.

Magic Mountain is a perfect example that an amusement park shouldn't be all about the rides. Heck, I spent an entire day at Disneyland riding all the gay fairy Mickey Mouse shit and I had much more fun there than I did at Magic Mountain.

I love loop-de-loops, barrel rolls, and triple inverted camelback batwings as much as the next guy, but there is such a thing as presentability and attitude. If your employees drag ass with their lack of enthusiasm and motivation, then then guests will be bitter and miserable, which means the park will suck, no matter how many upside down zero-G rolls your rides have.
