Going to Europe for the first time in a few weeks. Flying from Chicago to Germany, staying in Flensburg. It will be my first time out of the country, pretty much.

What I want to know is how to deal with money. Should I get a debit card? I don't really want to walk around with a thousand Euros in my pocket.

Thanks for the assistance.

I never saw a guy in germany pay with a cheque.
I seldomly saw Cheques anyway...
All I see People paying with, is bar or there Bank cards...
But i guess if u dont wanna carry a lot of money carrier checks are the ebst solution.. but i would still take a few hundred euros with me

btw: why the hell flensburg? x.X

Right, ok. Thanks.

And I'm visiting a friend up in Flensburg. But we will be hitting all the major cities too.

Avoid traveler's checks, they're seldomly used so many people don't like dealing with them or are simply unable to accept them.

definetely... you can use visa over most of Germany.
go to Berlin :-D check out Kreuzberg, Potsdamer platz and lots of other places. If you want some nature check out Flensburg's area and Denmark, plenty of beaches! If you want mountaineering, then go visit the alps in the south!

Like, I said earlier, I am visiting a friend. Though I am flying into Hamburg, and I am also staying in Munich for a few days. There will be alot of trekking around Germany, so I think I should be OK.

We're also staying in Paris for a week or so.
