Go to Soviet Russia, it would be a much better experience IMO. In Sweden everyone speaks English and they all hate themselves and their country.
Since your studying abroad, Russia has a much more interesting history, better historical sites and architecture, and you'll be forced to learn the language since most people won't speak it (though that might be a bad thing if you're not planning on learning it).
>>78937 You sound like a typical Amerifag tourist who goes to other countries, doesn't bother to learn so much as "hello" and "thank you" in the native tongue, and expects everyone to serve your important American speaking ass with a glowing smile on their face while you treat them like a fool in their own country for not knowing the worlds official language. That's the only way I can see someone getting the impression that you did.
Even speaking a little bit of Russian will make people much more friendly to you as a tourist, since it's rare that westerners speak it and it's such a difficult language to learn (compared to other European languages).
