I've been thinking about moving to America after uni for some time, how hard is it to get a visa generally?
I've lived in the UK all my life so English is my first language, I’m educated and have a clean criminal record

I have an uncle whose lived in America for some time and may be able to sort me out with a job, which I assume would help me get a work visa. He’s coming over in a couple of weeks, I’m going to speak to him then.
I’ve heard it takes a while to sort out all the paperwork which doesn’t bother me, I'd want to save some money and pay of my overdraft, but is there much chance of getting accepted?

I've always had this view of America being really easy to get into but it seems I've been misinformed

Yup, and the thing about our immigration policy is that we don't even make it easy for well-educated people to get in. For some reason millions of non-English speaking Mexicans are okay, but who the fuck am I kidding? Our policy is all double standards, no sense. Christ, we should just pay Anglos to immigrate, Aussie, Kiwi, Limey, Canuck, come on over.

It's probably quicker if you just move over illegally and wait until the government passes the next amnesty bill since they make the well-to-do white people with degrees wait ten years to get in.

Those poor, poor, well-to-do white people.

Who will stick up for them!?

Yeah it's really hypocritical that millions of unskilled, non-English speaking aliens can come here by the droves and it's just overlooked while educated immigrants from Europe/Asia etc. get thrown out for overstaying their visas..

op here, I'm not really bitching about how hard it is to get into America, it seems like a lot of paperwork and hassle but I'm not really bothered about that

I'm just wondering if I have much of a chance of getting in legally

don't know much about it to be honest, but it's actually a nice country despite what some people would say. Get used to driving though unless you live in a big city
