So, /trv/, some friends and I are planning a cross-country trip (in the USA). But that's all we know right now. We have no ideas where to stop (aside from ending in New Jersey), no ideas how long to take, no ideas how much it will cost, and no ideas what we'll do on the way to wherever we're going. So..help? Pic semi-related, we want to use a van of some sort.

What problem? we've got the shore and we've got at least a couple of fine universities.

There's really no problem with New Jersey. It just has a bad reputation. New Yorkers look over the river and see Jersey City and stereotype that the rest of the state is the same. Newark and Camden are on opposite corners of the state and have high crime rates, thus one can conclude that it's filled with crime from top to bottom.

Personally, there's nothing particularly wrong with New Jersey to visit. However, if you live here, you're probably getting tired of the high car insurance payments, property tax and tax hikes that might come in the near future.

Well, you see, I'm starting in the Sacramento area, where the main freeway is I-80. And I found out that it ends in Jersey. Thus the ending choice.
