Current JET here. No one here gives two shits about a BEd. You won't be teaching university with anything less than an MA and the whole English teaching market in Japan is already way oversaturated. Understandable as Japan is a great country and one of the only developed countries that actually needs large numbers of English teachers.
In any case, with a BA qualifies you for Eikaiwa and JET. With a million people wanting to live in Japan at any cost, eikaiwa (private English schools) is becoming even more shit than before with bad hours, pay, benefits etc. JET (working at public junior high and high schools) is still a great cushy government job but acceptance numbers are now approaching only 15% of applicants.
