/trv/, I've been looking at colleges lately for apps (in b4 underage b&, I'm eighteen) and was wondering - what are some good college towns/cities?

I've heard lots of good things about Nashville (Vanderbilt) and some good things about New Orleans (Tulane). Where else and why?

Pic obviously related. I live just 80mi from Athens but I've never been.

FSU is a good college but Tallahassee is horrible. Just horrible.

I went to school at UC Berkeley. Berkeley's a pretty good college town. Southside is a typical student ghetto; crappy apartment buildings, cheap eats open late, and some bars. Now that I think about it, the drinking is more beer oriented than liquor--there's a few brew pubs. North of campus is quiet and nice. San Francisco's like 25min away by train and you don't need a car in general.

It's probably not worth paying out of state tuition though. I don't think they give out much in the way of scholarship to non residents.

When I was looking at colleges, I visited Brown; Providence seemed kind of boring.

pic related, in an ironic way. it's the "asian ghetto" food court on Durant.

Vanderbilt is nice, but University of Tennessee in Knoxville is much better.

Fuck vandy, go to MTSU if you're going to be going somewhere around Nashville. 20k+ undergrads, large college town, massive campus (not sec size but still huge) and a ton of good majors

What's wrong with Vanderbilt?

I go to berkeley as well, its sad because many people here don't get involved in the actual city, alot of the students don't ever even get to San Pablo street their whole stay, Most of them never even visit the legendary Gilma, the key thing to remember if you want to go to Berkeley is that is that it isnt actually a college town at all. a lot of the best things to do here are frequented by college kids, or if they are they are from contra costa college. Plus you are provided with free bus passes, go to Oakland, go to San Leandro, go to fucking Richmond and buy some crack.

I heard Boston was one of the best college towns. There's something ridiculous like 1 college per square mile in the Boston area.

I go to UC Davis, and Davis is pretty much a quintessential college town. Most people ride bikes, I believe Davis has the most bike riders of any city in the United States (or something like that), and it's a very beautiful city with lots of trees and mild weather.

If you're a preppy piece of spoiled scum, go to vanderbilt to be with the rest of your kind. there are no bike lanes. everyone here is involved in some "the industry" and thinks they're holier than thou for whatever retarded reason. how much are you looking to spend on college?

surely you are trolling sir. Comparing Knoxville to Nashville is like comparing Myrtle Beach to the Cayman islands.

I don't have any money but I could get pretty near a full ride to Vanderbilt off need-based aid, scholarships, etc.

So I take it you're at Vanderbilt and wish you weren't?

Vandy would be considered more prestigious than MTSU, but MTSU/Murfressboro is a major party city with low cost apartments/cost of living. And you can ride a bike/walk almost anywhere near campus/downtown.
