So I graduate in just a few short months /trv/
School is almost over, and I'm starting to plan ahead for what I'll be doing afterwards.

I never wanted to go straight to university, I'll more than likely defer my course for a year and fulfil an aspiration that's stuck with me for as long as I can remember.
Japan.

I want to spend time in Japan next year, it's been a dream of mine since I could barely talk. But I'm not exactly well off for cash. I work 3 jobs which is a bit of a struggle when you're still in high school, and don't earn anywhere near enough to spend a decent amount of time over there.

does /trv/ know of ways where I can work in Japan for a year or something? I know the option for teaching english used to be there, but from what I know there has been a lot of trouble with that whole scene recently, and most organisations will only find placements for people with a university degree.
shit, I don't think there's anything I WOULDN'T do for a year in Japan.

Any ideas, advice, whatever you got, hit me. Relevant or not, hook me up guys! Tell me all you know.

Some countries have "working holiday" agreements with Japan but you sound like you're from the US, a country that doesn't. Thus, you can not legally do any job without a university degree. Furthermore, tourist visas only last 3 months. Why not visit Japan for 2 weeks and if you actually like it (it's a pretty solid country but not some weeaboo fantasy land like you may think it is) then get a uni degree and go back there and work.

I actually like this idea.
I mean, I'm only going to do Bachelor of Arts before bridging to Law or engineering of some sort, and I think I may be able to defer for a year between the courses. In which case I'd only probably be waiting another year to go to Japan.

Also, I'm Australian, and am and have always been genuinely interested in the culture, it's just a place I'd love to be immersed in.

Oh, Australia is one of the countries with working holiday so you could probably find some work like bartending for a year. Still as a current JET who also studied abroad in Japan (awesome experience, do it if you can), my recommendation is getting your bachelor degree then heading over to Japan to work.

How am I being a weeaboo?

If you fencefuckers didn't jump to such childish conclusions you'd probably have stopped and thought long enough to realise your criticism is entirely unjustified.

Stop being tossers. I want to go to Japan, if you don't care, fuck off.

You're still a weeaboo faggot. Don't worry Most of 4chan is, including this Anon. But don't deny it.

I will be nice and state the obvious.

You will fail.
The only job a non-moonspeaker can get is english teacher, and if you have no degree it will fail so hard you'll be as jaded as us within a month. The only lasting moon-oriented careers would be shit in A-PM, working at a wire, teaching at a private institution, or taking up a dental practice.

Just take a fucking vacation until you get a degree. Stay at a hostel, fuck around on the trains, you'll have much more fun in a week or two than you would in six months.

I've been teaching privately for a year now, there are alot of english schools for adults and it can be pretty easy to get work in them if you meet some english teachers in your area and have them hook you up. Its 600 a week under the table too, which is peanuts compaired to some of the guys I know in Nova and Jet but whatever. If you have a couple grand in your pocket you should be able to make it.

dont be a fuckin idiot. just travel there for a bit. then get a degree from whatever country your from in finance or business and study japanese on the side. then you can get a job there and make good money. otherwise your only other option is to teach english there but everyone makes fun of those faggots and they are on the lowest rung in japanese society.

You are a weaboo faggot. You've never been to Japan yet you want to work there for a year? If you're of Japanese descent I'll kind you some slack but still...

okay while all the rest of you are flaming each other....

Why don't you try an exchange program? You can go for a year, or during the summer, if you get into a good college (i.e. Stanford, which actually sucks, by the way).
>> Anonymous
Look into colleges with japanese exchange programs. I know alot of Australians go to Komazawa university through some exchange. I'm not sure what college it is though. My friend is an American who went to komazawa uni through our school and he said the only other english speakers were australian.

Go to uni. Enter exchange program. JAPAN+DEGREE WINWIN

If you are from Oz, "working holiday" is the way to go. From what I hear, you can't get work without a degree or minimum 10 years of experience in your chosen field (immigration requirement), but I think "working holiday" would allow you to bypass that for a while, get to know the country, and if you like, go back home to study, learn moon-speak, and return with a degree, realistic expectations, and language skills. You'll need those to make it in Area 11. Good luck.

Oh yeah, sauce on OP pic, she looks cute.
