Attention /trv/, I just spent my vacation in Scotland, a land where the prepetual rain dwells, and I spent a few days in Glasgow and noticed something... EVERY CHICK IS A FAT FUCK! People say america is bad, but Scotland takes it to another level I mean I don't recall seeing any adequate girls there, it's insane! Why don't people discuss the problem of obesity in the U.K?

I was in Glasgow yesterday and I saw 2, maybe 3 fat chicks tops. The people are all thin, pale scenesters. I don't think you've ever been to Glasgow, sir.

Yep my city is full of ugly fat fucks and scenesters who are also ugly. Those who are neither weren't originally from here.

ITs because they opened a Burger King franchise there. Thats why the obesity and murder rates are so high.

The UK is the second fattest nation after the US. I thought everyone knew this...
Well the problem is the Anglo mindset. Nietzsche made fun of Englishmen for being obsessed with "happiness", whatever the fuck that means. And this is what happens. You gravitate toward the things that make you happy instantly and superficially. If there wasn't such a focus on "being happy" all the time in English-speaking countries this would not be happening.
It gets to the point where people guilt themselves for not being happy at any given moment and thus develop psychological problems they might not otherwise have had. Despite this, surveys consistently show that English speakers are the happiest people on Earth. They have to lie through their teeth to keep up appearances (god knows the English are famous for that) even if it's to people they will never interact with, but most importantly they have to lie to themselves.
And besides, the surveys don't define "happiness" anyway.

Nietzsche is fun to read but you are not meant to take him seriously didn't you know that?

I just found out that Australia, New Zealand and Canada are also in the top ten. That means that 5 out of the top 10 fattest nations are English-speaking and that all English-speaking countries are in the top 10.

Some things he says are truer than you'd think. This is one of those things.

Are you trying to say the English aren't really happy? I don't think that's true.

Nietzsche wasn't against happiness, but he thought suffering required to advance culture (or man) to another level, and that we should not be content with society in its current form. But why strive for higher culture? Surely it's only the means to an end for future happiness. If it is then his argument hinges on the presumption that you must suffer to advance culture... which I don't think is true in practice considering how much the merry English have contributed.

Not necessarily. But that's just it. The first thing on an English-speaker's mind is who is happy, how happy are they, and why, when in fact that may not be relevant at all.

Well if you analyze the actual contributions of the English you'll notice that they have a somewhat different character from those of continental Europeans. Notice how they contributed next to nothing in terms of art during what was arguably the greatest artistic renaissance in the history of man, the modern period. What they did contribute came later in the form of pop art, which was really a tribute to English pragmatic ingenuity.
The greatest English contributions are mainly those of science; very tangible and practical. One might say they're contributions which advance society toward a happier state; one in which science affords us many earthly comforts. This is exactly the English dream that America has realized.
Remember, they don't call it "ENGLISH pragmatism" for nothing.

What you say is true, but it's interesting that England wasn't producing anything other than some literature when the Renaissance was underway. The Italians and Germans even had them beat at science at that point. England was a late bloomer in terms of culture, which may explain something of their abscense of early artistic achievements, but there is no excuse for the relative lack of great English art and music from the Baroque era onwards. Great English literature is perhaps the best rebuttal to the claim that the English are a purely materialistic and pragmatic race.

Depends which part you got to. Some areas are filled with neds others fat gits and the rest is filled with hipster faggots

Personally, I find that the central west coast and Glasgow areas are bad for the neds and murders, being one of those who lives here myself.

To OP. I'm not particularly surprised as in the UK we seem to be American hating hypocrites. "Don't drag us into your wars but thanks for spending your tourist dollars and don't forget to come back next year..."
