I learned today that I'm going to get my year in Austria for study abroad when I'm a junior (in college.) Woo.How hard is Austrian german for an outsider to understand? Keep in mind that I can have pretty decent conversations with my friend from Ulm. But I've been told their idioms are really weird.Kennst du mich hilfen?
Die beiden Sprachen sind sehr ähnlich!Just like british english and aerican english

I didn't really notice much of a difference in language when I went to Austria.I'm not fluent in German or anything, so maybe that's why, but they understood me just fine and I was able to understand them.
The difference in Austrian German is like seven words. I wouldn't call it a dialect. Texans and Canadians probably have more differences than germans & austrians in language. Have fun yelling moo to the cows.
