I'm flying out to Seattle tomorrow with American Airlines - it's the longest flight I'll have ever been on.
Recently flying on EasyJet the seats were so small my knees were pressing against the chair in front...
Does anyone have any other experiences like this, or tips on how to survive the long haul?

Buy at least Premium Economy (or whatever the next one up from Economy is) if you can. Otherwise... You're pretty much screwed. I take it you're quite tall?

I'm 6ft 2, so..yeah. It isn't going to be a comfortable flight. Would sitting in a aisle seat make a difference?

Definitely. You can put your legs out of the side when the hosts aren't bringing drinks and stuff around.

Aand..my friend mentioned something about seat neat emergency exits having more legroom. Is it possible to make sure I get one of these by checking in early, or are seating plans all already set out?

I'm not familiar with AA's policies but a lot of Airlines allow you to reserve a seat on your flight so if you booked online, you could probably purchase a seat reservation. Expect to pay at least £15/$30 or so each way. The emergancy seats might have some sort of requirement that you can get out of the way quickly (as you don't want to have some grandma clogging up the exit).

If you can't reserve a seat then I don't know how to proceed from there, sorry.

That should be alright, I'm on the website now. I can only check-in at a maximum of 24 hours in advance, so I have to wait a few more hours before I can try...
Thanks for the advice.
