Look, dude, there is such a thing as "vagabonding". It's perfectly possible to travel the Earth, almost indefinitely, if you are prepared to take odd-jobs along the way and don't mind getting your hands dirty every now and then.
Consider, for example, dumpster diving. Not only is most food thrown out fully packaged and only a day out of date, but many people are happy to throw away perfectly adequate books, televisions, DVDs and other valuable possessions. As the old saying goes; one man's trash is another man's treasure. Pick up this stuff and sell it in a used-book stores or appliances store if you're running low on cash. Understand, also, that hostels are typically populated by naive youngsters enjoying a gap-year. Take advantage of this! If you have any skills in gambling, visit a hostel's bar and challenge the youngins to a game of Texas hold 'em and enjoy as your superior strategy quickly starves the yuppies of their travelling funds. Or purchase cheap souvenirs from festivals you encounter during your travels, and sell them at a jacked-up price to some giddy little back-packer.
Now, those are just a few possibilities for DIShonest work. Consider all the legitimate occupation you could use to add on to that £600 you've got. Hostels readily take on workers, especially if they can speak English. Cleaning, reception, maintenance, bar-work, etc. etc. There's also WWOOF too. In return for food and lodging many farms are registered to allow travelers to work for temporary periods on their farms.
