Hey /trv/,

I'm participating in a summer program in London during June/July. I'm going a week earlier and leaving a week after than the program's dates, and I was wondering if there are any experienced London travelers that could recommend their favorite hostels to me. It doesn't have to be dirt cheap, but I am on a budget. Did any places impress you?

I'm thinking about spending some time in Dublin, so any hostels in that city would be appreciated too.

thanks!

I thought that St. Christopher's wasn't bad. Try them?

From what I understood, you will stay in London for three weeks.I would recommend you to find a house to share (like easyroomate.com and stuff).
It's cheaper and at least you will have some privacy.
I am just returning from london, I have stayed a week in a house in Straford (12 mins by tube from the city). It's really convenient (just avoid house in zone 4 or 5 maybe too long for tube journeys to the center)

fuckin money saved and when you are staying for a long time, damn you are happy you are not sharing your room with smelly backpackers.

When I was in Dublin I stayed at a place called Avalon house. It was nice enough, decent price, friendly staff. It's a little out of the way, sorta, I mean still on Camden Street (I think it was?) but you know a good hoof from Temple Bar and all that other fun stuff.

Yeah this sounds actually better though, thought are you staying in a hostel the entire time?

I stayed at the Four Corts hostel in Dublin and had a great time: clean, close to the center, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great value.

OP here, I'm just staying in a hostel for before and after the program dates- about 5 days on each end. Probably too short to try and get a roommate, but I might look into couch surfing.

Thanks for the suggestions; I'd welcome any more housing tips you all have for me!
