Ok guys, anyone from the Czech Republic, or that knows something about it?

I've been offered a job there, but from I see the salaries aren't so good.

Opinions please? Cost of living etc.

Thanks in advance Anon

Where are you originally from?

If you're trying to have a base of comparison regarding salaries...
Portugal actually. And yes, even still, Czech's salaries aren't that good.

Also, I'm talking about software engineering. We can generalize, though, since I'm not the only one interested.

I'm interested in the country on a whole, so people who've at least been there may be helpful.

well. i was there about 6 years ago. i remember everything being cheap but i think that has changed since then. it's a nice country with beautiful landscapes, good and cheap food and beer. kind of a cheap and less developed germany. i wouldn't live there but i would defintly go there again.

Went to Prague last year, it wasn't exceptionally cheap or expensive. I assume other cities would probably be cheaper though.

I drove through Czech and did some sightseeing off the highways. There is not a lot there. A lot of ghost towns with creepy old people siting in front of dumpsters. I wouldn't mind living in Prague though. The women melt like butter over Americans.

Only good things in here are nice women who are still willing to stay in kitchen (at least some of them) and cheap beer.

OP here. I'm a kathoey from Thailand.

Extremely good beer, not bad food, and Prague has a beautiful city center.

I have a lot of relatives in the Czech Republic and I have been there. It's pretty nice, cars get good mileage compared to the U.S, the food and beer is good. Just lock up your shit because the gypsies will steal your stuff if you aren't careful.

I'd say that's a general rule of thumb. Great to visit ==> Shit to live in.

It's true that we have gypsies, but there are no muslims, jews and almost no christfags, niggers

Grew up in a town called Polna close to the "city" of Jihlava in the southwestern corner of the Czech Republic. Moved out to Los Angeles and now live in Boston, I have to say the Czech Republic is awesome. Has one of the few well preserved gothic/medievel cities in Europe, the people are awesome and the cost of living (outside the core of prague) is pretty cheap compared to western Europe. If you do go make sure to travel outside of the city to places like Karlovy Vary, Plzen and Ceske Budejovice. I am biased beyond belief though.

OP here,

Ahh, I never thought anon would be so cooperating, thank you all for your replies!

The gypsies don't make all that happy about it, but then again, I'm already used to them here...
They don't steal much though..! :P
