So, my friend and I are going to London and Rome this summer. The question is, he wanted to know if I wanted to spend more time in one city than the other. He says he'd like London more for ease of the language barrier, the atmosphere, and the weather. I think Rome has tons more to do, and way more history and culture to absorb.

What does /trv/ think? He has been out of the country before, I haven't.

Difficult decision. both are great.

If you really like food a lot, I suggest Rome.

I'd say Rome, but I live in England and have been to London many times and Rome only once so i'm probably biased.

believe me, you won't run out of things to do in London over a short trip. That said, I'd go for Rome. Try to learn a little Italian before you go, even if you only stay for a short time. Rome has a very solid tourist industry, so you can go and speak English the entire time, but it will enrich the experience.

Nope, that's Fontana di Trevi, the most famous of rome's fountains.

I live in Rome, and i've visited London: we've got better weather, superior food and a lot monuments, palaces, musueums and such, but if you plan to stay just a week or two, you won't run out of things to do in either cities.

Oh, and we've got Vatican City. You get to visit 2 countries for the price of one, and you get to see the Pope Emperor for free.

Rome = Greatest city in the world, without a doubt. Best architecture too!
