>>8481 The one thing to do in NYC is eat. There are definitely a couple of places you want to hit up, but going out for every meal can be quite costly. Breakfast can be quite cheap but dinner or even lunch can be at least 10 dollars or upwards.
I'm not too sure exactly what you're into. But I would take advantage of the rich culture of NYC. Go to a museum or two; watch a performance (ballet, philharmonic, Broadway musical). They sell fairly cheap tickets at the Tckts booth in Times Square for showings that same day. But you better get in line early as everyone jumps on that thing. Also, you can go to a comedy club. Any will do though some would recommend Caroline's. The Comedy Cellar is actually quite cheap. It's variable as all comedy clubs are, but there at least used to be an online coupon which allowed you to get in for free as long as you purchase two drinks (non-alcoholic or alcoholic).
Get a good view of NYC someplace. See Manhattan from the Brooklyn Promenade or from a tall building like Rockefeller Center or Empire State Building. I'd recommend going to Central Park, but it's really nothing too special. There are a number of trails and a lot of green. If you do go, then you should probably hit up the Terrace and possibly the fancy-shmancy Tavern on the Green. Otherwise, if you're into architecture, there are a bunch of old time bridges that are quite pretty, in my opinion.
