Vashon Island Anonymous
PDXfag here. My gf and I are going up to spend a weekend on Vashon Island.

Other than a quick stop at the Uwajimaya bookstore, we plan to bypass Seattle entirely. This time around it's all about quiet and relaxation and being on an island. We found a place to stay, now we just need to find a decent restaurant, a day spa, and one of those stupid stores that sells worthless tchotchke and souvenirs.

Whaddya got for me /trv?

a day spa on vashon? fucking shit, Vashon isn't exactly a goddam resort island you nigger.

there is one major town, and shops all over the place, though most are in the same area. Depending on which dock you get off of depends on how far you'll go to get to it.

and like I said, its not a resort island, its not really meant for tourism. don't be surprised if there are no real tourist shit to get. unless you go during a festival or something.

and for fucks sake don't tell you friends. Vashon is a small island, we wanna keep it that way

What the heck are you gonna do for a whole weekend on Vashon? It takes 5 minutes to drive from one side to the other.

Day 1: Take Amtrak to Seattle, hit Uwajimaya and Kinokuniya, bum around the market for a few, catch the passenger ferry from pier 50 to the island, take the bus to thriftway, buy some groceries, bus & walk to rented cabin in the middle of the woods, make an excellent meal, fuck like crazy, have a snack, go for a walk in the woods, fuck again out on the deck, fall asleep watching big bright stars.

Day 2: Make breakfast, walk down to the beach and up to the road, bus to town, find a whole bunch of those businesses that 51802 says don't exist (bookstores, gift shops, etc), buy a couple of overpriced postcards, get lunch at "The Hardware Store" (which actually wasn't bad), consider taking the bus down to Burton to rent sea kayaks (stopping along the way to see The Bike In The Tree), decide against it, go back to the cabin for an afternoon fuck and a nap, make dinner, consider going to Cafe Luna to see some live music or maybe watch hellboy 2 at the theater, decide against it, take a bottle of wine down to the beach to watch the sunset, stumble back to the cabin, crack another bottle, babble drunken nonsense to each other for a few hours, fall asleep under the stars again.

Day 3: Endure hangover. Walk to ferry, take ferry to fauntleroy, bus to king street station, Amtrak to Portland.

That's between Vashon and Burton. If we'd taken the bus to Burton we would've stopped to see the bike and get the story, but we didn't. Ask 51082, it's his island.
