Anyone from /trv/ ever been to North Korea?
what the fuck do you think?but, the pic is awesome
Yes, I'm sure lots of people have.
>>28245is this supposed to mean "of course not, who the fuck goes there" in which case, well, not many but some do, or "of course they have" in which case, well, it's not really that obvious is it
Christian Amanpour has been there and it was awesome.
I'm doing a project on North Korea about their tourism businessMan, it's fucked upBut I would go if I had the chance
going to the dprk is easy, if your not sub-human americunt scum. us Europeans can just go to a embassy, get a visa and take a plane, though we do have to make a stopover in bejing.
>>28264haha, nice superiority complex.
>>28265Any country that piles propaganda into its name (The Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, LOL) has a superiority complex.
>>28267Every dick that is a country in my mouth has a Superiority rape me in my face
>>28264Americans can go there easily too, they would love people from all over the world to see their shitty propaganda tour.Americans need to know the truth that Martin Luther King Jr was the leader and a violent black militia that fought for equal rights and socialism, and after he was killed there was a massive genocide of black people and now there are only a few of them hiding in the mountains of West Virginia.
>>28284you've just described 4chan's wet dream reality.
>>28284No you cant dipshit.from the DPRKs website FAQ:>6. I am a US citizen / I am a South Korean citizen, can I visit North Korea?>Special protocols are in effect regarding US and South Korean nationals. Contact your local embassy for more information.Suck it fags.
ahh north korea, is there any dictatorship that will not use euros? syria, iran, cuba, north korea, and the european union, perfect match.
>>28290Actually in the DPRK travel section is says on some of the trips that people with US passports can go, but can only stay for about half the time of other people traveling, and they have to get extra checks or something too.Japanese and South Koreans are banned though.
I'm actually considering going on the August trip, would have prefered the September but it would cut into term time. Any anon been there/thinking of going?
>>28294Does that mean theyll start printing super-euros?
>>28308I'm read in a couple of sites that South Koreans aren't banned, and most of the tourists who go to North Korea are either Chinese or South Korean.
>>28321I*Fuck I sounded fob.
>>28294Lots of countries switched from dollar to Euro, democratic as well as autocratic ones. We make deals with dictatorships and so does your country. No reason to get all butthurt and hypocritic. You're just kinda not important enough anymore that we care about which countries you label "evil".
>>28321Yeah. North Korea has also deemed an area something of a "national park" near the border that South Koreans can visit with some (much not much) ease.I've heard really good things about Koryo Tours, operated by the guys that made A State of Mind, Game of their Lives, and Crossing the Line, and definitely intend to make the trip over with them.
I hear their roads have no cars.
>>28518Yeah. They still have traffic cops though.
I don't know why anyone would use this as a selling point for Other Countries > US rant.Regardless of whether or not you can just run over to NK or whether you can't, who cares? Why would you want to go to a place where you're likely being bugged and could disappear without a trace?
>>28529They can't just abduct U.S. tourists willy-nilly. That would start a war.South Koreans and Japanese, on the other hand...
why would i ever want to go there?
>>28569for the lulz
>>28539willy-nilly...
>>28539Yeah, that's what the government does any time an American gets abducted in Iran, Central/South America...OH WAIT....
The only country left in the world without a Starbucks.
>>28539They are technically still at war with the US.
>>28603Why did we send the NY Philharmonic there then?
>>28604we don't like the philharmonic very much
was there as a green artillery lieutenant and now i'm the oldest guy on 4chan. i was a great place in '51, farmers, farmer's daughters and moonshine
>>28604I'm pretty sure it was just a PR stunt designed as a profile-booster.To get noticed, orchestras today will do nearly everything except produce recordings.
They are still at war with South Korea lol (although no military actions currently take place xD)
>>28796theres is military actions currently take place .April 1996: Several hundred North Korean armed troops entered the Joint Security Area and elsewhere on three occasions in violation of the Korean armistice agreement.July 1997: Fourteen North Korean soldiers crossed the military demarcation line, causing a 23-minute exchange of heavy gunfire.this happens ever now and again.
>>28574The Iranian hostage crisis was huge, what are you talking about
>>28863A takeover of a US embassy and holding 55 diplomats prisoner vs a lone adventurer deliberately traveling somewhere he is explicitly warned against visiting, and then getting into trouble with the local government?Yeah those are pretty much identical situations. Good catch.
>>28527A traffic cop armed with an AK ?
Taking a guided tour in 2009.Anyone who seriously does want to go to North Korea, the only way is to take a highly restricted guided tour. Here's where I'm probably booking:http://www.northkorea1on1.com/
The best thing about going to North Korea is because it'll be like travelling through time. "Look kids! We're in the middle of the Cold War!"
Great topic. I find North Korea fascinating. Here's a tour group for DPRK: http://www.koryogroup.com/And, noisefags, I heartily recommend Juche from Tesco-Distro : http://store.tesco-distro.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=CDXXJUCHE
Reason to go is because its the last bastion of communism which still doesnt bow and take it in the arse from every other country,Sure they starve and all but thats how they roll.
I remember seeing a webpage of some Russian guy who took a tour around NK. I wish I could find the link, it was really interesting.
>>28956Here it is:http://www.tema.ru/travel/north-korea-1/He took pictures of all the stuff you're not supposed to see. The most striking to me was the shantytowns right next to the Soviet-era skyscrapers.
>>28960Is N. Korea always foggy?I read one in English that was pretty interesting. At one point he went to a karaoke and watch gooks sing Ebony and Ivory. He also picked up a book in a library he wasn't supposed to see, it said America wiped out all the black people and MLK was the leader of a socialist militia.
Some english secret travel guides would be awesome

>>28987>Bush is last worst>Bush is criminal ugly monster who eat little cats and world children eardrums.>I hate Bush because he is worst and last.>Comrade Hugo Chavez of Venezuela country say so too :>Video ---> Link>Bush is worst last! I hate Bush.wat
>>28987>Today my brother show me video of Bush who fly inside Germany country with his plane and make vicious sex attack from behind>vicious sex attack from behind
>>28989He actually did do that though. Well, there was no sex, but I suspect the German Chancellor still felt violated.
>>28989i make laugh
Soldier of fortune offers a $5 million dollar reward for anyone who can steal the flag off of the world's largest flag pole - which is in NK's propaganda city just next to the DMZ.Of course, the flag is so big you'd need a semi to move it. Also you still have to get across the mine field and not die to insane NK troops.
>>29040link plx. my google skills are failing me
>>29040Where's Lupin when you need him?
>>28960Awesome thanks
North Korea is awesome.
>>28904Yeah, really. The whole nation is like an exercise of "Let's see how long we can make this Soviet-era shit last," whether it's power grids, buildings, vehicles, trains, or factories.
So how many organisations are there that organisise trips to NK, and which is the best?
Anyone saw the special on CNN?
>>29507proud to say that I am going to north Korea in September with Koryo tours (unfortunatly the only way to visit NK is tour group style) under the name of "US tour 4" Its surprisingly easy to visit you just have to subject yourself to a bit of red tape from both the Chinese and North Koreans. I AM SO PUMPED
>>29554oops forgot the site if people are interestedits also surprisingly cheap to gain access to such a reclusive hermit kingdomhttp://www.koryogroup.com/index.html
> "Anyone saw the special on CNN?"I did, it was interesting.
>>29510Yeah is was good. I even mentioned it at the beginning of this thread:>>28248
Is it still relatively safe to visit North Korea at the moment? Because I read that there was the threat of famine and starvation in the country possible with the current world food problems.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article3941541.ece
>>29716They've been starving for decades, they're having a famine, its getting worse and worse. They don't let you go anywhere but where the tour guides take you, you won't see any starving people.
>>28308Japs arent banned, I've seen pics of Japanese group tours in NK. Also somebody in this thread said NK and the South are still officially at war, no, not since a couple months ago, watch the fucking news, god.
>>29738They are still at war, the armistice wasn't ever changed. Yeah Pres Kim was down here in November, but it was just talks. If you go to the border, they still point their guns at you.
south korea is awesome
last year I came pretty close to N. Korea. I was backpacking through korea and made a stop at the DMZ near the boarder. Got to check out the conference room and tunnels and bridge of no return...etc.Fact: N. Korea has the world's tallest flag pole and biggest flag near the DMZ, built to demonstrate the awsome powah of communism
>>29772It'd be funny if South Korea built a bigger one to relatiate, and then North Korea would have to one up them again, and this flag size contest going on all these years would produce these comically huge flags on both sides of the border.
>>29822Why do you think they have the largest flagpole?
>>29769moar liek puppet korea
>>29720The US said they would resume food aid again, aiming to supply half a million tonnes of food to help them with the even greater difficulties they have now.
My friend is the son of one of the violinists who's part of the New York Philharmonic. There is a video of him fucking up the procedure of the North Korean national anthem.
>>29991Food doesn't go to starving ones anyway army or ''rich'' ppl get it
>>28960I notice he's wearing a CCCP shirt. Is he trying to trick them into thinking he's from the Soviet Union?
>>30127It says "Hysteria USSR". And I'm pretty sure he is from the former USSR.
Americans are only allowed to enter North Korea during Arirang Mass Games. And you still have to go through the usual propaganda tour around the North Korea.
>>29998link or it didn't happen
