God damn I want out of this country ASA-fucking-P.

I'm going to be 20 this month and I have a decent amount of money saved and my family and friends would support me if needed, but I have a problem..

I only have a high-school education.

I'd love to move to America, but after doing some minor research, it seems very unlikely.

So my questions are..

What are the chances of me being able to move to America with just my high-school education?

If I couldn't move there, is it possible I could go learn over there?

If America isn't possible, what other countries would /trv/ recommend?

You'll be fine in America with a High School education. Don't go to a state's capital unless you want to be overwhelmed. go to the state's second or third biggest city for best results. Why do you want out of the U.K. so badly?

Any asshole can get into America.

Anyone can get a job with a high school diploma in America. Probably work in a factory or something.
>> Anonymous
I'll trade you; you can have my spot in America, I'll take the UK.
>> BAWWW
with a high school diploma, you can join several open-entry community colleges in most states for 2 years and earn an associates degree, its not much but enough to land you a starting office job.

the government also has funds that helps peoplle pay for college, the less $ you make the more eligible.

This sounds pretty cool. Got any more details or any idea what I should be searching for?

Sure thing buddy. Where are you from?

Where I live sucks basically. Full of bad memoires and regrets.

seeing as how you have only a high school education, i'd say to you...
take this American's advice and stay away from the entire North American Continent. I don't know what they are telling you out there in UK, but here in America, right now is the WORST time to come over. Our economy is failing. Our infrastructure is starting to unravel. Our entire way of life is under scrutiny and an ever failing democratic gov't that is so corrupt and broken that only some serious intervention (i.e. war, genocide) might, MIGHT make living here worth it, let alone coming over here.
No, I'd say DON'T come over here. You don't want this.

Obviously a disgruntled teenager. Good job in giving absolutely useless advice.

This.

Also, just go to Scandinavia. College is free there. School in the US is fucking expensive man.

The government does have funds for students, but I'm 99% sure they're reserved for US citizens.

Go to America, make up a fake social security number, go to work as a helper in a trade like plumber or carpenter. You should be able to work for at least 6 months before they catch you. If they are not enforcing immigration law against the millions of Mexicans, maybe they will not enforce the law against you.

While I was in Paris, I've met several Brits that have moved there in recent years, so apparently it's easy, and a popular choice.

I've heard that many of your countrymen have moved to the countryside of central France too (which is much cheaper), and Spain.

You'll probably need to learn French though, not that many people speak English.

"I've heard that many of your countrymen have moved to the countryside of central France too (which is much cheaper), and Spain."

Yea, and in the south of France. But that's more retired people, because there is usually no work in these places.
And french people are leaving these town now because it's getting too expensive for them.

Have you considered Mauritania? Nouakchott is in a rapid state of economic and infrastructure development, in fact many have classed it as the Dubai of Africa. Expatriate positions without tertiary education are aplenty!

Yet again the Brits have raped a sovereign nation, as they migrate in droves to anywhere but their shithole country, bringing with them their linguistic and ethnocentric views, ostracising themselves into British "enclaves" and creating a landscape of pale skin atop sandles+socks.

I'm in France right now. For a professional, I don't recommend it. Don't want to offend french people around, but there is a serious lack of professionality and way too much slacking... it takes forever to get things done.

For a student, well... it may be ok. Although I enjoyed Germany more (good beer). And I wouldn't go to the US, that is if you're planning to work (until the economy stabilizes).

Wow, really? Fuck this shit, I'm going to France!

everybody is talking about the bad economy in the US but there is still work. You just need to work for low pay and you will find work. If you figure out a way to work on your own (start a bidnis) you can make good money.

If you don't mind cold weather, look at Wisconsin or Minneapolis. The west coast is expensive to live, the east coast is just sucky. If you like big cities try Chicago or Milwaukee.

Try applying to colleges in the US and Canada, go the community college route if money is a problem. Generally schools are very happy to have international students.

Don't bother coming to the US. All the people with college degrees are getting the shitty jobs at Wal-Mart and shit, so teenagers and high school graduates like me can't get a job. Shit sucks here.

Pic semi-related.

If you're going to a Midwest state, Illinois is definitely the place to go. If you like big cities, Chicago obviously. If you like smaller places, Illinois has tons of great places. I love it here.

USA =/= North America.

Canada's economy is one of the healthiest of any developed nation, and Mexico continues its economic growth as usual.
>> BAWWW
exactly. our U.S economy sucks ass now. students like myself are denied any form of student loan, and i lost my job (like several other people) living in dense urban areas like Miami makes things worse.

Yup, that's why Canada's dollar has fallen in the past couple weeks, right?

Come to Australia. The economy is still doing alright and we have plenty of jobs available.

Hey, dumbcunt, if you've just got your secondary school education you're in for minimum wage jobs.

Just, maybe, you shouldn't be looking at the country whose largest supermarket chain has no union representation and pays you five bucks an hour...
