Language School to the US anon
Hello!
Next summer I'm planning to go on a 3-4 week long language school in the US, and these are the cities I can choose between;
Boston
Chicago
Honolulu
Redondo Beach
San Francisco Down Town
Berkeley
Miami Beach
New York
San Diego
Santa Barbara
Seattle
Tampa Bay

Don't live in any of these cities, but if you are going to live in Berkeley, why waste a trip going there? My opinion would be New York, but all of those cities seem cool.

I live in Chicago. This is a terrible city filled with ugly, obnoxious people. I would go to Honolulu if I were you. My second choice would be Miami Beach.

"Berkeley is one the more welthy cities"

Speaking as someone who lives in the SF Bay Area, you should avoid Berkeley. Berkeley is full of trash and bums. If you want to be in the Bay Area, go to San Francisco.

I'd recommend New York City above SF, however, as it's more interesting.

>>41088Santa Barbara / San Fran down town

These two places are not near each other. At least 4 hours of driving between them.

Go to Seattle, we can hang out and get ice cream.

What language? I'd try to choose a city with a decent population of that language (Miami for Spanish, etc).
Ignoring that, however, Chicago, boston, or new york.

Seconded. Berkley has a great school, but the city itself is a crap hole.

I would say either San Fran Down Town or San Diego. The American Language Institute at SDSU does a pretty good job of preparing international students for life in the US.

HA HA OH WOW
You must be thinking of Stanford in Palo Alto.

It's been mentioned in this thread, but while Berkeley is one of the best schools on the West Coast, it's in a pretty poor area. Not anywhere near as bad as parts of Oakland or SF, but there's a strong arm robbery at least once a week on campus. Don't go near People's Park at night, either.

Jeez..I've lived in like four of those places...all horrible.. =(

Go to a tiny mountain town instead

Ok, guess I was wrong :P
What about Santa Barbara?

HONOLULU

If you pick any place else, you're either a dumbass faggot or live in a tropical paradise and want a change of scenery

If so, pick Chicago because shitsux

Or come to Austin to see what a gorgeous continental city is (and also witness the good things about texas whilst skipping over the shitty things like racism, hicks, and poor education)

Dont go to Berkely, it's full of radical muslims that act like animals (not that muslims in general dont act like animals, these guys are just more hardcore about it) and get away with insane amounts of shit because the university heads are limp wristed faggots too afraid to say "HEY KNOCK THAT SHIT OFF OR YOU'RE EXPELLED"

There is nothing redeeming about Berkley, it's a shithole full of blacks and the uni is full of muslims.

As for San Fran, it's full of gays and homeless people that are IN YOUR FACE about wanting change. Just ignore them and avoid eye contact, also try to avoid curb stomping the ones that sleep on the sidewalk in broad fucking daylight. I know it'll be hard (especially if you're from somewhere that doesnt put up with shit like that, like I am), but it beats a nice trip down to the police station explaining why you were kicking the shit out of a homeless man for loitering.

However San Fran does have some awesome restraunts and some of the street people are actually entertaining and not RAGE inducing.

Basically aside from these two (the only two I've been to), just search the demographics of the other cities and pick the one with less black "people." Chances are it'll be the nicer one.

Minus Seattle.

Honolulu mebbe?

New York, Honolulu, & San Francisco should be the top choices.

Avoid Boston and Chicago at all costs.

The rest of the cities are ok.

Only been to SF, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Berkley of the cities listed but SF is the best. You can actually get places via public transit, and it has a nice feel to it. Really not that many gays all over the city, but there are a lot of homeless, especially around Haight.

Honolulu would kick ass, but you'd get a much much different taste of U.S. culture than if you went anywhere else.

Oh, and don't pick Tampa Bay. I used to live there. Shitsux.

They might as well call it area 11.

Boston or Chicago, faggot. Hawaii is for pussies.

As someone who lives in San Francisco and attended and graduated from UC Berkeley, here are my thoughts.

DON'T GO TO FUCKING BERKELEY. The place is a fucking dump. I mean, the campus is pretty nice but everything else is filled with bums, hippies, faggot ass liberals, nigras and trash. Not to mention the fact that it has the worst ratio of attractive women in any place I've ever been to. Fuck that place. The reputation ain't worth it.

SF Downtown is also pretty grimy/dirty. I work closeby and meh, I wouldn't wanna be a student here. We also have the worst weather in the world here in SF. So yeah.

My advice: Miami Beach or Honolulu. Should be filled with hot chicks and awesome weather.

Where the hell are you from anyways?

I would say go to boston, I'm from just out side of Boston and you will find a large population of open minded and intellegent people. Second to that is New York. Then again I'm very partial to the north east, so I might be a little biast.

I live near Redondo Beach. Matter of fact, I was there Sunday.

Pic related.

Honolulu and Miami are nice. Avoid Tampa Bay, Chicago, and Berkeley. Seattle and Boston are ok short-term, I guess. I hear good things about San Diego, but never been there. They say the place is huge, so not really my kind of place. Look for smallish cities, much nicer.

If you live in seattle don't shop directly around the schools or in their retarded villages as they are corrupted and evil but there some awesome parts too.

if you like scenor we have the best.

If you distrust blacks, stay out of Chicago.

What country are you from?

I live in Santa Barbara. It's the most beautiful town in the world.

I'd definitely recommend doing it here, you'll not regret it.

New York would be my second choice though, I've been there a few times and it's amazing (but VERY different from SB)
