Hey /trv/ i'm thinking of going to Japan but i keep hearing all these bad things about the racism there (towards other Asians; Korean and Chinese specifically. I'm the latter).
When i'm there people will probably think i'm also Japanese and then they'll try speaking to me in their language and all hell will break loose when I can't reply back fluently.
Anybody else ever have a similar situation? If I was white(like my friend i'm going with) I wouldn't have this problem.

tl:dr I'm a Chink wanting to goto Japan and will I still enjoy the trip if they find out i'm not Jap.

You'd get treated about the same as a japanese person would be if he went to china

as long as you're not ANGRY NATIONALIST LOL then it's fine

i'm a chink meself, and when i went they were pretty nice, i'd say even nicer than other countries i've been to
that was in 2002 though, there's more RAGE these days

If you're travelling with white people, then yeah, everyone will assume you're The Japanese One and speak to you in Japanese. You are the group's spokesperson, whether you like it or not. Better get studying, bucko.

Goddamn you faggots. Stop listening to INTERNET EXPERTS and their bullshit.

Japanese people are NO DIFFERENT then how we do here. Granted, they have unsightly niggers in some parts as well (fucking Roppongi PIG DISGUSTING).

I was born in Taiwan and moved to my current town at a very young age. During my travels in Japan, not once, not once has race ever been an issue. In fact, some old sailor in a hot springs with me told me how friendly Japan is with Taiwan.

The only kind of people you'll find racism directed against are arrogant Japan-hating communist chinks. And even those are treated well. Too well for my liking.

If anything, Japanese people are too kind. The only racist I encountered in Japan was a nigger bartender in Roppongi.

I doubt it. People from other countries usually have a different look about them and carry themselves differently. You'll stand out.

Have fun with the right-wing nationalists backed by politicians and the Yakuza.

I suggest you speak in fluent English instead of trying to respond in Chinese. If you do that, you can pass off as a Japanese person raised in a foreign country going back to Japan for the first time. They are rather welcoming if you manage to pull off the act.

And if all else fails? There's several chinatowns in Japan. luls.

Yeah, that's why they defeated South Vietnam and America at the same time.

Anybody with a population of a few millions can defeat America (unless the Americans have strong allies).
Iraq is proving it right now.

as a non white, black or asian i will tell how i was treated once i come back

I don't really think so. All asians look same to the west, but they probably can distinguish each other.

Yeah, not all Asians look the same (it may seem so to a white person, but like the quoted poster said most Asians can tell which region another Asian comes from). Look at a typical Chink, a Viet and a Jap and you'll see there are some differences between them, and it is possible to distinguish between them.

To be fair, can you tell a Frenchman from a Swede on sight?

>>27479
yes.
>> Anonymous
>>27479

probably not, yet I have a good sucess rate in telling thai, cambodian and viet apart. I think despite all having pretty much the same hair color asian races are more diverse than caucasians
>> Anonymous
>>27479
lol yes. Also I can usually tell a Frenchman from another Frenchman from a different region.

lol no

I've been in France, some French have Nordic features, many others can pass as the average Spaniard/Basque or Italian. They have a very diverse phenotype.

if you're chinese it's no problem

i have a fuckton of friends who live there that are chinese and haven't had any problem other than being perceived to be japanese retards when they didn't speak japanese well

japanese people are sad that the chinese hate them

koreans, on the other hand, hoo boy--japan fucking hates korea (except for housewives loving teh south korean idol pop boy dick)

Yeah, and since their overseas territories are part of France as well, there are Amazonian tribes (some reputedly left untouched by civilization), black Africans and pacific islanders among the French, too. Many mailmen or policemen in mainland France are creole from the Carribean or Indian ocean, I've noticed.

Roppongi is truly awful.
Ugly people with bad manners... I felt I was back to Brazil.
