Hey /trv/

Cheapest ways to travel if you're willing to take any means of transportation.

Train can be cheap even in the US. I spent about 114 one way from Boston-Chicago through New mexico to Los Angeles. Hell of a lot cheaper and you get to see all that shit you are supposed to fly over. Also traveling by boat is awesome, I am lucky enough to know a guy who ferries yachts back and forth between places like the Caribbean and the Mediterranean it was a blast. There are organizations that pair people sailing across the pacific or Atlantic with people willing to be a deckhand. I have gone from Seattle to New Caledonia and back essentially for free. You have to be willing to work and do watches at odd hours though.

Hitching a ride on frieght trains is cheap and a pretty quick way of getting around.

They don't hardly hire anybody to guard the rail yards anymore, and the train itself might only have 2 or 3 people on it if its a long haul.

Its a sadly underused mode of transportation.
