Anonymous is a fucking troll. Tokyo has more to do than even NYC. Seriously it has everything you could want.

Just bring tons of cash

get to narita airport, then buy a week train pass, then take the narita express from the airport to shinjuku new city (lots of hotels here) get a hotel, hop on the train, take the light green train line (yama something) and then go to shibuya or akihabara depending on ur intrest, then decide what to do from there

Buy the train pass before you enter Japan, it's a lot cheaper that way.

JR East is not amused.

Seriously have you guys seen the new F Line station, compared to those ancient relics JR calls stations its worlds and worlds better.

The Fukutoshin line stations are new, smell new, look new, feel smooth and new, but they are functionally equivalent to any other station in Japan.

You just take whatever is most convenient at the time. Sometimes it is the Yamanote line, sometimes the Y?rakuch? metro line, buy a prechargeable Pasmo card and stop worrying about which ticket you need from A to B.

whenever i shink to tokyo from my shithole hick town, i get the 'free ticket', which allows me free rides on JR lines for the entire time I'm in tokyo. It's part of the return shink ticket.

Not OP, but how's Kabukicho? I'm not too interested in the clubs but it looks like a cool place to walk around. Maybe.

Hey OP. I'm in Dallas also.

I went to Japan and Taiwan in July. Second trip to Japan and it was just as boring as the first. I know it's more expensive, but I HIGHLY suggest you catch another flight from Japan to somewhere else.

Shanghai was the most exciting place I've been to, but it can be difficult getting a visa right now. Huge modern city with so so much to do. A suprising amount of younger westerners there.

Hong Kong was next on my list(I actually only stayed in Kowloon the whole time) but it looked like a great place to spend some time. I only got the chance to stay for one night before ferrying over to China.

Singapore was another place I only spent a day, but it was beautiful, busy, and has a great night life.

Malaysia was the best part of all my trips(I had people showing me around for 2 weeks, so that may be why). I really, really.....really love the tropical feel of it.

Those are my experiences so far. Next time I travel anywhere in Asia just for vacation purposes I plan for it to be Thailand. I hear it's a pretty crazy place. I think you should go check it out and let me know how it goes when you get back.

Have fun on your trip.

Try Google streetview (coupled with Wikimapia which is in English for the most part)
From the looks of that whole Shinjuku area on the panoramic streetview cam, it looks to be a great place to walk.

btw Google Streetview is fucking underrated.
