Hey /trv/.

I'll likely be traveling to New England within the next couple of weeks and have a question about rental cars:

I don't have a credit card anymore and so can't reserve one online. This being the case can I expect to pay (a lot) more as a walk-in when I get to the counter?

get a debit card. if you have the money to rent a card anyway you should be able to deposit it and get a card.

OP here.

"Although you may use a debit card, pre-paid card, or another form of payment to pay for the final charges on the vehicle, if you reserve a vehicle through this website, you will need to provide a major credit card at the time of the rental to secure the rental transaction. A major credit card is a card that is supported by a pre-determined line of credit, and not a bank account, or a pre-paid balance."

More than likely they'll need a credit card which I think is complete bullshit. I've tried renting a car through like 6 companies and they were all YOU NEED CREDIT CARD WE DONT CARE HOW MUCH CASH YOU HAVE.

Thrifty takes debit cards though, or at least the one in Hartford, CT does but they take a deposit but I forget how much it is.
