Speaking as an American doing 5th century Greek, Latin, Sanskrit and Old Persian in addition to German this semester, and French, Old English, Arabic, and Spanish previously, yes, German is easy for a native speaker of English to learn. If you want to compare it to Spanish or Esperanto or something, it might be difficult, but there are a ton of cognates and the basic grammatical structures are very similar.
Now if English isn't your first language or you're comparing this to other subjects in school, I can see where you're coming from.
