I want to/will move to Germany in the very beginning of 2009. Most likely I will choose Heidelberg, for I intend to study, eventually. I need your help:

Will I get a job to pay rent and food, not speaking german?
I will study german, but where can i take the DSH test to get into unversity?
Should i choose some other city in southwest of Germany? (I would also consider Cologne, if there are some Kölnfags reading this).

I ask for your guidance my dear friends. Preferrably those who have experience of the Bundesrepublik, Gerfags and people from Heidelberg or the surrounding area (Rhein-Neckar).

I was stationed in Heidelberg. As an American, you are treated no better then any other muslimfag that immigrates to the country.

Everyone in Germany speaks english, you don't have to learn German to function there, however, without speaking German, your treated like the Illiterate mexican farmer is treated in the US.

You have to kinda trust me on this... I've considered living in Germany because of my (ex)girlfriend I met there. Gaining citizenship is hard. My friend, a former soldier, and non-german speaking got a job handing out flyers for a nightclub, getting paid shit.

Germany already has a massive influx of 3rd world fucktards looking for jobs there. North GErmany is full of eastern europeans and russians. Central Europe is full of Turks. South Germany is full of rich fuckers that don't like you. Austria is like Bavaria, only worst.

Frankly, I could get a job with the US Military still stationed in Germany, although many, many bases there are now closed. You, as a dirtback civilian.... You should reconsider your move to Germany, unless you can get a job before your move, you should not go there. You will be on the streets with no money, and no job in a short time if you go there "looking for work" like 4 million other foriegners do in Germany.

Also, the towns you mention are exceptionally full of young, hardworking, unemployed people. Those are not the cities you should be looking for in Germany. Try Hamburg, Frankfurt, or Muchen....

I agree with this man

I went up there to run a business that fell flat on its ass. And looking for employment there being from Canada is virtually impossible.

I stayed for six months traveling before coming back to Canada but I could never imagine how difficult it would be to live there and make a living. Even the young german people I met and my ex-girlfriend there were all incredibly educated and made pennies.

Any non-EU citizen trying to get work in an EU country is totally fucked. All of the good nations make sure no one who is a citizen of that country can do the job first, then they make sure no EU citizens are available for the job, then, they see if there are any other non-EU immigrants for it.
