Hopefully moving to America next year for a year, where should I go, /trv/?
>> Anonymous
Well, if it were me, I'd go to New York, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, or Philadelphia. However, this is you, not me. I, nor anyone else here have any idea as to what you are looking for.

In b4 "x city is shit" and "come to my place of residence it is awesome".

Avoid all big cities and travel to rural areas.

Virginia, Idaho, Washington, North Carolina, etc all have awesome rural towns.

I'll tell you this once. AVOID NORTHERN VIRGINIA aka, America's anus.
>> Anonymous
OP here, I'd probably like to be on one of the coasts

And to stay away from any red hick towns

what are you going to be doing in america? that might help.

If you want a job, goto Texas.

Tell us what you like. What kind of climate, what type of people, what kind of job you want, etc.
>> Trunks
>>76975
Bullshit, I've lived here and I can't find a good one.
>> Anonymous
how much money do you have?
what sort of climate do you like?
what do you do for fun?
what do you want out of your environment/town/city?
do you need to work?
if the answer to the above question is "yes", what is your desired line of work?

>>76979

You found jobs, but you are picky. Most people can't even find jobs in this economy.
>> Anonymous
lol why would you move to the us
>> Anonymous
Small big cities are the way to go. eg. El Paso, Omaha, Austin, Flagstaff. Cities in the US kick ass and I would recommend them all, but ones between 300,000 and 800,000 population have great charm.

I live here and yes, there are jobs. Depends on what you can do though, like any fucking where.

Protip: if you've got a healthcare background and can speak-a--da espanol, you can write your own ticket anywhere in the south.

As for work... well its kinda a year out.. with the option of working

Like retail/movie theater/watier/fucking mcdonalds

Any type of work really

Like others have said, stay the fuck away from the big cities. IMHO they're the most fucked up parts of the country. America's an awesome, amazing, welcoming place anywhere that's not on the coasts.

If you're white, that is.

AZ is awesome.

Do not, do NOT move to Northern New Jersey. Southern and mid is fine, but northern is terrible. Long Island is a great place to live.

It's okay...I would prefer San Diego though, at least they have nice weather all year round.

Well, disregarding the "this place sux but go to that place instead" crap...

Every part of the US has its part to offer. True, some places are kinda por/rundown/redneck/ghetto, but one man's trash is another man's treasure.

If you're looking for rural, small-town traditional food/fare and xcenery, then pick a less populated area, and in deciding which one, just factor in what type of small-town you're looknig for.

If you're looking for more of a modern/metropolitan place, then just pick a big city. Which one? Base it off of crime rate or baseball team or altitude or whatever, there's really no diference, unless you're looking for a specific landmark. (9/11 memorial, Space Needle, Gateway Arch, etc.)

No it's fucking not. It embodies the worst sort of suburban America stereotypes, at least those that don't involve hardcore conservatism.

Try DC.
Northern VA is not bad. I say this having lived there as well as Houston and other places along the gulf coast. Trust that the DC area is superior, but expensive as fuck

>>76965
on the coast, and away from "red hick people" myself included.

The far west sounds like a good idea, probably anywhere on the Pacific north of San Francisco would probably be suitable, but you're not going to find and major cities that are actually on the coast. Also, prepare to be appalled by the lack of city to city transportation of you go up there.
>> Anonymous
so cal is nice. LA is a huge city, but it's spread out over a wide area so it's not very crammed into a small piece of land like NY

>>78559
What are you? One of them Palin hippies that thinks big cities are not REAL america? Fuck you.

TAMPA IS THE GREATEST PLACE IN THE WORLD ALL YOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE. THE STREETS ARE PAVED WITH GOLD AND SLEEPING WITH THE WHORES CURES STDS

It's looking like California at the min!

Anywhere but LA
