sup /trv/,

say i was a billionaire and wanted to build a "jurassic park" type attraction with my money.

what would be the largest island i could buy, or at least "take control" of?

some requirements:

-must be large enough to accommodate facilities, a hotel, and of course roaming grounds for hypothetical dinosaurs

-must have a permanent population of 900 people or less

-must be in a tropical or sub tropical climate zone

-a variety of hills, fields, and rivers are a plus

>ive searched some island buying websites, but all they offer are hunks of rock in the middle of the caribbean.

That's basically it. I would lol hard if you wanted to take over Madagascar though. It is the world's fourth largest island. Good luck getting the African Union to not crush you though.

I've always thought it'd be sweet if I become a billionaire to buy an atoll in Tokelau or Tuvalu or some shit, and then hire a gang of pirates to guarantee my succession from the country, thus forming my own state.

This seems pretty suitable, 400 acre island in Panama.

Bit of a bargain too! You only need to be a minor millionaire to afford it (minus the dinosaurs)

looks good, we've found your island OP

i checked it out on google earth, it isn't very big. 2.3 miles long and about 1/3 of a mile wide. plenty of trees, but way too close to the mainland to be safe.

however, there's a nice piece of land south of that island that looks like prime real estate.

but how will op made dinosaurs?

Why not take Ouessant, the landscape is charming, the local food is delicious, and I'd love to have some dinosaurs roaming in the wild half an hour from my home.

Yeah bro.

I've determined the atoll of Nukulaelae in Tuvalu to be the best location in the realization of my plan.

Its 1.8 km² and presently has 393 inhabitants, but if I were to offer the Tuvaluan government, say, $500 million, they simply couldn't refuse. That is $41,694 per person, significantly more than the $1,600/person GDP per capita.

And Tuvalu is an independent country, not a dependency of the UK or US or something, so I wouldn't have any powerful governments interfering with my plans...and with a GDP of $14 million, the country's purchasing power would be much smaller than theoretical me.

Found the perfect spot OP: Mehetia Island.

3km2 (741 acres), has a 435m mountain, tropical climate, and the nearest land is 100km away. Its in French Polynesia. No price given though.

You got to be careful of them starving negro armies and stuff.

Awesome. Dig an underwater moat to deal with rising sea levels and use the upturned spoil to increase your islands land-mass.

Perfect plan.

Yes, because sea waters are surely going to rise 435 m (1,427 ft. for you Amerikkkans). Goddamn hippies, even if the polar icecaps and the glaciers of Greenland fully melted it'd be a mere 67 m rise.

With enough money, you can buy UK if you want to.
