Hay /trv/, I'm having quite the dilemma here. I'm 18, graduating high school this June. Looking to go somewhere overseas in July. I'm from Texas, extremely well traveled within the continental US, but I have yet to see anything across the pond.

I want a place in Europe that has (at least most of) the following:

Really active nightlife/club scene

Relatively easy to navigate to a foreigner

At least SOMEWHAT safe to be walking around at night.

Nice countryside/towns to view in the daytime before getting completely smashed at said clubs.
Can anyone recommend a place in Europe that fits the criteria pretty well?

You will probably want to go somewhere in eastern europe then. Poland, Slovakia, Estonia, Ukraine are all good examples. The underground Hardcore scene is thriving and foreigners usually fit right in with thousands of head-banging skinhead/lonsdale youth. Travel around the outer towns where you will encounter the brilliance of Soviet era district planning. Cheap hostels are your best bet for accommodation.

If you want the nigthlife, stay away from Berlin. God that city closes down at about 9 pm.

Scandinavia would work well for you, but is quite expensive. Really you're picking kinda a shitty time to travel what with the dollar being so godawful. It sucks.

Though... Denmark is pretty good. It's still cheap and the club scene is fantastic in my experience. Personally I've found nearly all Danes to be a bit... off, but not really in a bad way. It's fun.

Germany, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Holland and Denmark can be good choises.

In /trv/, the answer is always Amsterdam.

OP here, I heard that Prague has a good nightlife, anyone been there/think the countryside is nice as well?

I'm by no means the touristy type. I abhor tour buses, groups, shit like that.I prefer to mingle with people and find things out on my own so I'm looking for somewhere that would be at least somewhat welcoming to me.

Yeah I've heard very good things about Prague.

prague is awesome, alot of people speak english there so it wont be so intimidating. there are alot of tourists out in the summer like anywhere in europe. It is not really all that cheap anymore in eastern europe, I rember my first trip in 96 you could buy upwards of 20 beers for the price of one in the US. clubs are awesome and often have some fucking awesome scary ass shit that goes down.

Munich Germany.
Not as much Turks as in other German bigger cities. Great Nightlife, lots of beautiful women (every 3rd German Playboybunny is from Munich!). Within 1 hour you are in the Alps.
Only problem is, that it's expensive.

Ibiza. The whole island is practically one big club. Also, it's a bloody island. Not much to navigate around.

Don't go there OP, it's full of what the British call "chavs'. Lower-class scum who fuck shit up.

London is a really good city for clubbing. There are so many venues, you can find anything you're into. It is very easy to navigate due to really good public transport, and everything is in English. Most areas in central London arer safe to walk around in at night, as long as you stay within Zone 1 and 2. And if you want countryside, you can always catch commuter trains that go into the countryside; most workers in London commute, and many live in country towns outside.

The only downside to London is that it's on the expensive side. Expect to spend around 700 pounds, or USD 1400 per month for all expenses.

OP's an American. The whole of Europe, safe for the East, is expensive to him due to the Dollar devaluing faster than the Turkish Lira.

Do you want to use English exclusively and party, or do you want to make an effort to at least get the basics of the local language down and soak up some culture? Great Britain is a safe bet as far as language is concerned of course.

Can't believe nobody else mentions Berlin here. But really... you can get an apartment in the city for less than 300 euro , get thai food for 5 euro. Conversion rate: 1 euro is approx. 9.50 us dollars.

And see nothing except for ugly ass houses, turks and arrogant bastards.

u fail. There are many shit areas in berlin but some are great. Very few arrogant people there, unless you are amerifag and therefore irrelevant anyway. Turks are a problem but only in some areas. The clubbing is probably the best in Europe. Try reading about your destination before u go there next time.

I live in Berlin and I know what I'm talking about. The Nightlife is infested with junkies, punks, arrogant idiots or Turks.
It's cheap to live and bitches too, but that's the only positive thing about living here. I can't wait until August to get back to Hamburg. It's a shithole too, at least it's not so overhyped like this sewer called Berlin.

Nope, I live in one myself. And it's in a hip part of town as well. Check out immobilienscout.de if u can read german. You can also get shit apartments with coal heating in bad parts of town for a lot less. Some of my mates pay only 200 euro for 50sqm. At the other side of the spectrum, u can have 200 sqm lofts for 2000 euro with all mod cons.

I live in berlin too though. The junkies I see mainly in mitte, the brandenburg baseball cap nazis are mainly located around the s-bahn stations at weekends so i avoid those. It's true that the turks are a hassle in KzB so I avoid görlitzer park after dark, but at least they are not fucking germans (just for the lulz) . Berlin is on the pivoting scale between old school ossie trash and cool expats coming here to do their stuff, and the expats are winning. Most german cities look like shit, but thanks to Bomber Harris at least Berlin wasnt firebombed as intensely as Hamburg. One has to see through the greyness and see what's underneath I guess. Germany is still prolly the best country in Europe, I say this as a born and bred scandinaviafag

Uh...Berlin sucks man. There's about 12% unemployment, no one has any money and crime is high. It's a giant theme park too, everyone wants to sell you some shit like crumbled "Mauer" in a bottle or shitty sight seeing tours. It's also completely DEAD at night.

Unemployment is for wankers. Real men are self employed. If u aint got any marketable skills, u will find it sucks everywhere. Noone is trying to sell u any mauer shit or sightseeing tours unless u are in the tourist area Sherlock ! As for dead at night... are u kidding ? There are bars and clubs around the clock if u know where to look. Wake up and smell the coffee touristfag

Germany is awesome, a fair few English speakers now, too. UK is good but not great. Avoid France. Spain is interesting but fewer English speakers. I didn't like Italy. Not that you wouldn't but just not my style. Eastern Europe is awesomely interesting but very difficult to navigate and engage with people. Russia was the hardest country for me to get by in, although by far the most interesting.
