Im want to go to Europe this year as and i'm trying to decide wether i should go on contiki(or other tour) or do it by myself.
I'm only 18 and haven't travelled by myself before. I'm willing to travel by myself but not sure it is worth the extra effort. what does /travel think of said tours?

Northern Finland is nice.
You can find lots of beer in Germany.
You can get pretty wasted in Holland
I suggest Estonia too, cheap booze.

Fuck Contiki.

If it's your first time, take a friend or two. Make your own path, you'll have a better time of it, and meet more interesting people than if you spend the entire trip with a tour group.

I did my first trip to Europe last year, and my friend and I did our own thing and had a fucking awesome time.

It's just as it should be, you minors shouldn't be allowed to buy booze anyway.

Not OP, but I heard that Greece is a horrible place to visit during the summer time. Since all the hotels are totally booked up and all tourist spots have crazy waits. Europe is supposed to be a very popular during the summer.

every slightly warm place is like that, either pay ludicrous prices or book early

Wouldn't bother me. I actually gave up most of my drinking after my 22nd birthday anyway. It kinda stops being fun once it's legal.

Though not being able to have a drink with a good steak, especially in Europe...I'm sure that's just got to be a crime.

In Sweden you can't buy alcohol after certain hours or above certain amounts, because apparently everyone in Sweden stops working and gets mortally drunk if they can. They decided that they shouldn't be keeping up with the Russians on that one...

That's retarded. Everyone should take Germany as an example when setting alcohol regulations.

First, go to Spain, take some sunbathing, then go to France and enjoy the faggotry-culture, then to germany and get wasted with cheap beer, then to holland and get high and eat shrooms, then to Estonia to buy stacks of too cheap booze, and then some good time in Finland, rent a cottage and go fishing and get drunk

News to me, sure, if you're a noisy asshole you wouldn't get served any but it's not like that's unique to sweden, as for drinking you should be able to get booze in bars and restaurants if you're 18 (Unless they've change the age limit lately), but it'll be fucking expensive, like 4-7 Euro for a beer, if you're lucky you might walk in on an happy hour and you might get it for as slow as 2 Euro, and no, they don't use euro in sweden, just so we're all clear with all the rates changing all the fucking time, 1 Euro is a little less than 10 Swedish krona.

As for buying in stores you have to be 21 and it's monopolized to Systembolaget but it's way cheaper than getting drunk soley on a pub.

Maybe you can get a hobo to buy it for you if you offer him a beer in excange.

As for places to visit i'd have to say Stockholm, i've only been there once but it's the most beautiful city i've seen in Sweden, but then again i'm not that well travelled.
