I've never left the country, /trv/
I want to travel somewhere overseas, but I am unsure of where to go. I've always wanted to go to places like Norway, or Lebanon, but some people advise against that. What's the perfect travel spot? I want to make my trip memorable.

You know what you have to do.

Norway is just about the most expensive 400000 square km's on the planet

Well not fucking Lebanon...why the AIDS would anyone want to go there?

Indeed, especially the alcohol is expensive. A beer could cost you around 7 euro's which is at lest 10 dollars.
Visit Amsterdam or Tokyo. Both awesome stuff.

Norway is beautiful only problem is its full of norweigns, seriously any race that sits around a dinner table one hand with a fork the other with a cigerette needs a series of uppercuts to the head.

You might want to look into Iceland. It's actually a very cool country, albeit rather expensive.

You forgot Switzerland.

Ahh, switzerland... It's like the whole country is designed to rip off tourists.

PROTIP: Norway and Lebanon have nothing in common.

We know nothing about you, Anon, so we can't tell you where your perfect vacation spot is.

I'll go ahead and mention Paris, since nobody has yet and all the usual suspects like Tokyo have already been hit.

i am going to go out on a limb and say Ghent in Belgium. if you head there for their festival thats held July 19-28 don't get hammered and sing "I was born in the USA"....

pretty good place to start for the traveling newb. My first trip overseas was to Cambodia and due to inexperience it was the most stressful trip I ever had.

Not really, Paris is going to rob you off your money.

Best place in Europe I've ever been was Greece. I've never been to the UK, though. That seems fun. Plus, if I'm going to blow away money, I might as well be able to understand the guy next to me!

>Paris is going to rob you off your money

It's more expensive than it used to, true, due to the collapse of the dollar. But the same applies to all of Europe (including non-euro countries).
My vote goes to Paris as well.

Applies to most of the world really, for those of you living in a country with the US$.

On the bright side for those of us living in a € country most of the world has been getting cheaper for quite a while now.

Well, I always hear people complain about how expensive Paris is, and I live in Germany. Wonder if they're right.

I think OP and I are the same person.

Anyways, I suggest that rather than just going on a typical, fat Amerifag vacation, go on a cycling tour or go backpacking around a country. You see and experience a lot more of the area and its people that way (and it's typically a lot cheaper).

I'm trying to come up with the money to go on a backpacking trip around Denmark and southern Sweden next summer. Shit's gonna be SO cash.

If you're really low on money (like me) :
There are cheap but clean hotels (like Formule 1, the same as in Germany) close to Paris - you can book online beforehand. Just expect around 20 minutes trips between your hotel and Paris.
The transports (metro or train) are unexpensive, but safe and extremely efficient. Avoid taxis. You can also rent bikes for dirt cheap from a large number of automated stations, now - very convenient and Paris isn't that big.
You can eat pretty good food for a few euros.
Many museums are free at least one day per week. Many monuments are free. Libraries are typically free (though some are restricted to students or Ph.D.s).
There's free wi-fi all over Paris now.

So while it can be astronomically expensive indeed, at the same time it's still possible to live comfortably with a very low budget.
