Has anyone been to Greece? If so what are your experiences? How much would I expect to pay for lodging/food?

I went for 2 weeks and stood near where that picture was taken. Greece is great, go clubbing and have a good time. Food and lodging can be found at all prices ranging from shitty hostels to nice Hotels in the Athens area and a few other major cities. Food is the same way, ask the local shop owners at the local shops where the good eats are at, locals like cheap which is what I like, cheap and good. Also the Gyro is an amazing all in one lamb taco of nourishment. I lived of of those for a while, there so damn cheap. Try to not eat at the little restaraunt in the touristy areas with patio seating outdoors. they overcharge. Find the little joints with smaller operations off the beaten path, cheaper and tastier.

Greece is awesome, but if you want to see ancient Greek buildings that are intact, go to Italy (Rome).

You should rent a boat and go sail from Egean island to island.

It's true, a lot of the shit in Greece is in ruins. Rome has a much higher density of ancient Greek buildings that are intact.

My uncle had a good method for finding restaurants like that. We were island hopping in the Egean sea and whenever we would get to the shore, we would keep walking inland until we saw restaurants with (at least) fluorescent lighting and plastic furniture. Bonus points for locals. And since nearly every restaurant serves a Greek salad, we used that as a replacement for the Big Mac index. We aptly named it the Greek salad index.

Do you, by any chance, realize the difference between Greek and Roman?

Oh fuck's sake, end yourself.

I do. For instance, I know that the city of Naples, which is in Italy, was founded by the ancient Greeks, who called it Neapolis (New city in ancient Greek). I'm not a typical Americunt who knows nothing of European history, I studied both ancient Greek and Latin in high school.

Now, will you please shut up?

Show me a building in Rome that was built by the Ancient Greeks then.

you are just making yourself look stupider

there were some greek settlements on the italian peninsula (pompeii, herculaneum, others), however few (if any) buildings survive. nothing in rome is greek.

there's none. Romans didn't have a roman culture, they just had a greek/etruscan culture.
