Eventually, I will be taking a gap year when my exams come through. I was thinking of using my qualifications in German language to take a years work experience in a German city (Berlin/Frankfurt)

Any tips on how easy/difficult it would be to:

1.Get a job (18/19 years old depending on time of leaving)
2.Get along with people (Got a relatively good grasp of German language)
3.Find a place to live (Costs etc, it would only be a year so renting obviously)

Help me out, /trv/.

depends on here you're from. If you're from the UK or Ireland:
1. Easy, buy flight, turn up, get a shitty but legal job. Or google it
2. Meh, depends on a lot of things
3. Maybe £2,000 - £3,000 a year rent depending on where and what you want. Obviously could cost much more. £3,500 living expenses would sound ok to me. Obviously you'll get a job, so it won't be too bad.

If your an Amerifag; good luck on the work visa

I'm from England. Basically it's a new thing for me, i'd be completely alone, with no contacts in an unfamiliar country. I've been to Berlin once for a good 3 days, and some town called Erftstadt on a couple of exchanges.

Pfft, i suppose craigslist could be used in a job emergency. Cheers for the heads up on costs.
