Fitchburg, Mass. Emphisis on ASS. Was once a bustling milltown outside of Worchester, a century ago, a gaping hole filled to the brim of old houses and white trash, with a little mix of PR's to fill in the gaps. If the entire city were to burn to the ground, it wouldn't be a bad thing and will not be missed. Then MAYBE, just maybe traffic on I-90 wouldn't be so clogged up.,

Nagoya. Hardly anything interesting to see, it's damn windy and if you're walking, you have to watch out for crazy drivers all the time.

Oh, and you have to pay a hooker 20 000 yen (about 200 dollars) for just a handjob and getting to touch their boobs. And it's not even a Japanese hooker, just a cheap Thai import. Well, at least you get a real massage too and the girls are cute.

Cymrufag here.

Avoid Swansea, seriously.

It's not as bad as some English towns and citys I've been to but it really lets the side down when you compare it to other places in Wales.

The city centre was mostly rebuilt in the 50s which meant that it was built mostly out of concrete and looks like a multistory carpark. Added to this is the fact that it was designed with the car in mind rather than pedestrians so it is far too spread out for the size of the city, which means it takes ages to walk anywhere.

Dylan Thomas got it right when he called it the death-place of ambition.

France. Theyre all assholes who cant speak anything but french or else refuse to speak english, for which I could forgive them if they werent generally grumpy assholes, and I apologise to the two or three nice people Ive met there.

Everything in France is overrated, especially Paris. Ive seen so many better museums than the Louvre. Arc the Triomph looks great on pictures where the traffic is editted out. The Eifel Tower was pretty impressive, but not worth the whole visit. The food is generally awful and the sights outside paris are generally: fields, gothic cathedrals (which are cool untill youve seen more than 10 in a few miles) and small towns out of picture books, which again look cool, untill you realise that's all they have.
Ive seen a great deal of this country, from Arles to Carcassone and it all sucked balls. Especially Carcassone, which looks great on the outside, but when you go inside its like fucking disney land, filled to the brim with loud-mouthed tourists.

I'm sure we have more fatties in Kentucky and Indiana and shit than any other country in the world.

However, the Midwest and South don't define the US, not hardly. California and the New England states are all that really matter, everything else is considered backwards and uncivilized, even by Americans.

You don't see Grenada or Kiribati or Palau defining United Nations policy, do you? No, because they're unimportant. Just like Georgia and Tennessee. When you see gigantic american fuckups (like Bush getting elected), it's because we mistakenly still let those faggots vote.

I've lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Honolulu (Hawai'i) for my entire life, and Paris definitely has more fatties than our major cities. Add to that the fact that French women look like dogs and you have no problem understanding why the French smoke and drink so much.

Anyway, as to the food, I visited London and Paris recently while my husband was on business trips, and spent a month in each. We dined at places like Guy Savoy and Taillevent, and while the food was not bad, it was certainly not worth all the raving your expatriates do about what we Americans are missing.

My advice is never to visit Paris. For one, they could not make it clearer that they don't want you there, and for another, it is simply not worth it. Next time we visit France, we'll be going to Nice or Marseille.

Skip the problems and avoid anything between the US and Colombia entirely. From Mexico to Panama, it's nothing but a shithole. I have a lot of sympathy for people illegally immigrating from those countries because I'd do anything to leave too.

The worst had to be Nicaragua. My dad's family is from there, and it's the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, after Haiti. You're less likely to get killed there than in Honduras/Guatemala, but that's because everyone is too busy drinking to give a shit about you.

My problem with the food is that it was mostly bland food made for sissies with no taste. I suppose it should have been refined taste... Uh...Greece, I suppose.

Perhaps it's just that I just don't visit enough truly run-down countries, or maybe it's just from my north-western European perspective, but the whole place was really shabby. If there are any road laws then no one obeys them and I can't say the food impressed me either. The landscape is bleak and scrubby, at least in the places I visited. All the ruins I saw (including Knossos) were nothing to write home about. I didn't see much of the people but if my experiences with Greeks on the internet are anything to go by I think I'm glad I didn't.

It's an ugly little country and you'd be better going to Spain or Italy instead.

...because previously, australia was japan's bitch. i know it's hard for an american to comprehend that the political leader of a country should be bilingual, but it is not uncommon. barack obama speaks indonesian - do you think that the usa (who already suck chinese dick for profit) will start bending over to indonesia if he becomes president? unlikely. will they probably have stronger trade ties? highly likely.

in australia politicians have to declare any commercial interests before taking a seat in parliament. any profit will not be for himself, but for the country.

the internet is not censored in australia. it has been proposed (numerous times) but never passed through parliament. even if the current proposition was passed, you could opt out and get unfiltered internet. please note that many european countries already filter ceepee. it doesnt mean non-sanctioned propaganda will soon be banished from the net here - the government funded television and radio is traditionally the most critical of the government. any government which changed this would be ousted at the next election.

we do have some of the most restrictive laws in the world as far as the net is concerned, but they are not enforced. please do not apply your paranoid fears, attitudes and policies to a country and culture you seem to know very little about

the whole world does not agree. anglophonic countries seem to have this preconception because a) the british cant cook for themselves, and b) the influence the french have traditionally had over the british aristocracy. from here it spread to the usa, canada, australia.

NYCfag reporting in. New York really is one of the greatest cities in the world, but much of it is uninhabitable and uninteresting. Times Square and the Empire State Building and the Financial District are all thoroughly skippable. However, there's a lot to be said for the Villages, Harlem (seriously - come to Sylvia's), the Cloisters, Park Slope, Williamsburg, Astoria (Neptune Diner will kick your ass), the Brooklyn Museum, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Like a lot of other places, the touristy spots are pure fail, but where people actually live, there's quite a bit of interest...

And yeah. Sorry about the "no standing on sidewalks" thing, but it's the way we work here. You can't stand on sidewalks. IT'S A SIDEWALK NOT A SIDESTAND NYUK NYUK NYUK.

That said, never go to Albany-Schenectady-Troy. As if anyone ever would.
>> Anonymous
>>36362

Yeah, everybody likes putting everybody else down. Having come from a rural-suburban place to NYC, my theory is that there is a lot people don't "get" between rural and urban environments.

Cities make you more liberal and more businesslike because you have to deal with a billion different people every day. Rural places make you more conservative because everyone has roots in the community and everybody has done things their specific way for a long time. However, with gas prices as they are, I wonder if people aren't going to get a little more urban living in their lives. Might not be such a bad thing.

New Urbanism FTW.

generalize much?

Georgia happens to have the world's busiest airport, btw. Your arguement might hold up a little better if you made generalizations about the urban/rural divide rather than red states/blue states. The blue states have plenty of rednecks, and red states have some blue cities (Austin, Atlanta, Denver, Columbus, New Orleans, etc.). The only difference is that the cities in the blue states are large enough to overwhelm the politics of the rest of their state (New York City, San Fran, LA and San Diego, Chicago, Seattle, and so on). Of course, there are a few exceptions, like (very rural) Vermont being liberal, but overall, the urban/rural divide is the main factor.
