So one day I was thinking about North America, how Central America is considered separate from it and how there are only 3 countries in North America (Mexico, Canada and the US). But then I thought of another landmass: Greenland. I never hear anything about this country. At all. I appears to be a sparsely inhabited frozen rock. Apparently it's owned by Denmark, and people there speak Danish. So now I'm wondering, what's it like to live up there (aside from cold). Do they have a variety of food imported to them, or do they all just eat fish? Are there paved roads going pretty much everywhere or is it an icy outback? Do they have TV and high-speed internet going to them? Do there days and nights last really long at different times of the year? How would it be to live there?

tl;dr what the hell is greenland like?

Why is it that whenever I'm flying to America and they put the map up, we're always above Greenland?

Greenland has about 50,000 people living there and they're all ice-fisherman name Hordik and Nuunk.

The capital Nuuk is like what one would consider a small town out in the country in some place like the UK or Australia. We had a supermarket there, and no it's not a "frozen rock." Was cold though.

Never been there, but the southern tip of Greenland is about the same latitude as north Scotland, so it's not insanely cold. See pic. The southern parts look a lot like the Lake District, but without any trees.

Nuuk, however, is more northern, cold, drab and full of these incredibly ugly housing blocks.

I'd still love to go as it's an incredibly fascinating place, but I wouldn't want to live there.
