hey /trv/ i've got a ticket to Madrid for Dec. 20th. the plan right now is to go from Madrid to Florence and back in 14 days whilst stopping places in between like Barcelona, Nice, Genoa. My question is how easy is train travel? Ideally i'd like to take the late night-early morning trains, but do these even exist? (Cant find any info online). also, will traveling during Christmas-New Years be difficult? if im in over my head about this i'll just travel Spain, keep it easy.

this is someinfo on italy-nice train
http://www.italiarail.com/cart/ir-european.asp?AFF=TRE&StationIn=Milano%20Centrale&stationOU
T=Nice%20Ville&FareType=TICKETRESERVATION&ClassOfTravel=2&Test=Test
you can travel from city (milan to ???) to city by train easily and cheaply inside of each country using their own shit. get tickets at the stations or search these names

Renfe= spain
TrenItalia = italy
SNCF = france... --> www.voyages-sncf.fr

you can probably also get tickets for the big lines (international) cheaper if you get them at a station ahead of time, or something. go to the one the depart from.

overnight trains are usually for longer journeys (8 hrs or more) and arent very pleasant.

christmas can be a bitch. make fucking sure you have a seat/sleeper reservation, bring earplugs.
