Do people really think the Brewers are going to make it out of the first round? CC can't pitch all five games, dumbasses. Ben Sheets is done, Dave Bush is hit or miss, and Jeff Suppan sucks. Alright, here goes my picks.

Cubs over the Dodgers in four. The Dodgers one win will coming off of a fabulous Billingsly start. The Cubs won't let Man Ram beat them and will intentionally walk him most of the time, treating him like Bonds.

Brewers over Phillies in five. C2 Sabathia wins two starts against Philadelphia (Games one and five) and the Brewers get a win based only on offense somewhere in there against the solid Phillies staff.

Angels over Red Sox in 4. Statistics will tell you that the Red Sox should be all over the Angels in this series, especially considering the Runs/Runs Allowed ratio. That said, why should the Angels luck end now? I see them beating Boston simply because they have owned them this year.

Rays over Whoever from the AL Central. I don't need a good reason for this one.

Cubs over Brewers in 6 - The Cubs and Brewers are a fairly even match, but the Cubs have out-performed Milwaukee all year long and I really can't see the Brew Crew winning this one. I look for Harden to pick up two of the wins and C2 to get one of the two Milwaukee wins (the other is Gailardo)

Rays over Angels in 5 - Luck ends. Rays have owned the Angels.

Cubs over Rays in 7- I don't really have a good reason for this. It's just a: "I fucking hope this happens". They match up well and it'd be awesome to see these two teams match up.
>> St.Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
>>369289
The Dodgers actually have a better team ERA than the Cubs.

That said, the Dodgers starters aren't as deep as the Cubs starters and they got to play in the fucking NL West. LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE. They beat the shit out of NL West teams and Pissburgh in September to get them in.

Indiansfag here, Rays are gonna fuck some peeps up. I like their mix of speed and power and timely hitting and their pitching has the ability to shut people out at times.

Angels over Sox in 5...Turning Point... Sox are up 2-0 and then Josh Beckett Tries to come back in game 3 and gets rocked because he aint right, Angels take next two games to stab sox fans in the heart

Rays over Whomever in 4...Rays will lose one on the road (Most Likely E Jackson gets a little loose) but that is it.

Phillies over Brew Crew in 5... CC's arm has to be getting tired, the rest of the Brewers pen besides CC sux ass

Cubs over Dodgers in 4... To much pitching for the Dodgers to handle. Like the previous anon said they will walk Manny all day w/ risp.

Rays Over Angels in 7...Home field comes through for the Rays like it has all year. After a impressive performance in the alds Maddon pitches the rookie Price in game 7 and he pitches a complete game, one hit, shut out.

Cubs over Phillies in 5...Again i think this is a mismatch just like the nlds. The Cubs have timely hitting and great pitching, just too much firepower all over the field for the Phillies to handle. The Cubs should make easy work of this series. Derosa has a clutch series.

Rays over Cubs in 7...I think the Rays match up with the Cubs better then anyone else in baseball. This series could go either way but I like Tampa being very aggressive on the bases causing an error or two that will be the difference in the series.
>> Anonymous
>Angels over Sox in 5...Turning Point... Sox are up 2-0 and then Josh Beckett Tries to come back in game 3 and gets rocked because he aint right, Angels take next two games to stab sox fans in the heart

So, the Angels drop 2 straight at home to open the series, then the Sox drop 2 straight at home to follow suit?

mmmmkay.....

stranger things have happened, like 18-1

Some of these predictions make me lol.

ALDS
Angels win in 4, because Red Sox are limping into the series.
Rays win in 4 or 5, if WSox, possibly 3 or 4, if Twins, then 4 or 5. The Rays have handled the WSox this year, and they've split this year with the Twins, going 3-3 with 4 games at the Trop.

NLDS:
Cubs over Dodgers in 4: Even with the added explosiveness of Ramirez, the Cubs are too well-rounded to lose to Manny.
Brewers over Phils in 5: Brewers have too much steam going into October to lose to a Phils team that has been good, but not extraordinary.

ALCS:
Rays over Angels in 6 or 7: The Rays have been able to handle the Angels all year, going 6-3, including a sweep in Tampa. It's reduced nearly to a coin flip given the Rays dropped 2 of 3 in LA.

NLCS:
Cubs over Brewers in 5: No matter how much steam the Brewers have, it's going to be really hard to win against a mostly stacked Cubs team.

WS:
Rays over Cubs in 5: The sweep during intraleague play says it all, the Rays outscoring the Cubs 16-9.

ALDS: It's silly to think that the Red Sox will beat the Angels when they couldn't beat them all year. The Rays will win against either team (If Sox, they'll win with the turf of the Trop, if Twins, they win because of the short rest because of playoff).

NLDS: Brewers win the only game that CC pitches. Cubs will just walk Manny every time.

ALCS: Rays because they are 6-3 against Angels this year, including a sweep, and taking two out of three series.

NLCS: Phils can't match up pitching-wise.

WS: History is made, but Rays win because of they're play against the Cubs this year and well, it's fucking October, the crazy always happens here.

Why the fuck does anyone think the Dodgers have a chance in the NLDS? Their pitching is ass compared to Chicago's.

Lowe will not beat Dempster in Chicago.
Billingsley will not beat Zambrano in Chicago.
The only way Kuroda beats Harden in LA is if Harden remembers he's supposed to be injured.

*Note: The 2008 World Series has ended in a tie because the city of Chicago has been placed under Marshall Law. During the final game of the series, each team blew an 8th inning lead to head into the 9th inning tied at 5. As tensions were running beyond what was thought capable, this finally sent them past the breaking point. The city erupted in riots so large that stores in Milwaukee were being robbed. While it was thought that the White Sox park would be able to hold out long enough to finish the game, a scoreless 9th inning lead to fans bum rushing the field during the 10th inning and completely overwhelming security forces. The teams quickly ran off, most notably the latino players. The city soon degraded into chaos as fires broke out and anarchy reigned supreme. The south side of Chicago was noted as being so badly destroyed it resembled Detroit, however, it was later noted that the south side actually improved from all of the stolen goods taken by the ghetto dwellers. Mayor Richard Daley was overheard saying, "fuck this, I'm going to the suburbs", thus leaving the city to the people who secretly ran it behind the scenes. During the 3rd day of chaos Kanye West proclaimed, "George Bush still doesn't care about black people". Kanye was later shot. It is thought to be gang related. In fallout from the riots, John McCain blitzkrieged Barack Obama with ads blaming him for the destruction. McCain soon followed claiming that Obama was a member of the mob, likening him to Al Capone and Michael Corleone. These attack ads damaged Obama's reputation so badly that he lost the election at a ratio of 18-1. In a side note: a billy goat was found pissing on Wrigley field during the riots.

Same goes for the Cubs. There's nothing more American than Bawston and North Side tears. Why do you think the country has sucked for the last four years when coincidentally the Red Sawx won the World Series?

with no ben sheets and sabathia ran into the ground i would have to say that the brewers may win one game against the phillies

as a cubs fan i am worried about the dodgers
they are just shitty enough to beat us as we have all year done better against good teams and shitty against shitty teams (besides the pirates we beat their ass)

Lowe's last 7 starts have been San Fran twice, Arizona twice, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Washington. Ooh, there's some really scary lineups.

And he's given up 4 runs in those 7 starts, so I have no idea where you pulled the 1 run in the last 45 IP thing.

Even if Zambrano blows Game 2, Harden will win Game 3, so it evens out.

Hard to win a game when Harden's only going to go 3 innings, and then his hands will burst into flames.

A Dodger lineup consisting of Rafael Furcal, Russell Martin, Manny Ramirez, Andre Ethier, James Loney, Matt Kemp, Casey Blake, Blake Dewitt, and some random pitcher will score something like 5.18 runs per game. That figure is the result of current Marcel projections for each those players, assuming an average-hitting pitcher for two plate appearances, and a league-average pinch-hitter for two more.

As for the other NL playoff teams:

Cubs: Alfonso Soriano, Ryan Theriot, Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Geovany Soto, Jim Edmonds, Mike Fontenot, Kosuke Fukudome, and a pitcher will score around 5.12 runs per game. If Mark DeRosa gets back in the lineup at Fukudome's expense, that figure will jump to 5.20.

Phillies: Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Jayson Werth, Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell, Shane Victorino, Pedro Feliz, Carlos Ruiz, and a pitcher will score around 5.08 runs per game.

Brewers: Mike Cameron, Ray Durham, Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart, Bill Hall, Jason Kendall, and a pitcher will score around 4.83 runs per game, by far the worst among NL playoff contenders. Luckily for them, they've got CC Sabathia pitching pretty much every game!

Feel free to quibble with the lineups if I missed an obvious injury or managerial tendency. Any interest in seeing the AL?

Hah. Oh God. The Cubs have better starting pitching than the Dodgers and a better offense, they should really win this series. Dempster won't lose to Lowe and Harden sure as fuck won't lose. Dempster will start 2 (probably both at home, where he has been godly) and Harden will start one. That's three wins.

I don't even think Dempster will need to start two. Lilly will fuck shit up in Game 4 as he has been for all of September.

I like how this guy gives the Dodgers overall runs per game, and then quickly writes it off as them not being the same team anymore, but he uses the regular runs per game for every other team without regarding whether or not that team has improved. Can you say homer?

The Brewers are a streaky team, they scored around three runs per game in all of April, and most of September. From May 20 to August 30 they were 28 games over .500, the best team in the league and scored by far the most runs. The two bad streaks bring down their runs per game.

tl;dr, your source is bullshit.

It's going to be a battle of bullpens. Have fun seeing Howry fuck the Cubs chances in at least two games. The failpen is strong in Chicago.

>>371113

What? Have you been watching Dodgers game? The lineup he listed hasn't even played together much outside of two or three games in Sept. For one thing, Furcal been hurt since May, and just replacing a 75% Furcal over Angel Berroa is bound to improve the offense and defense of the Dodgers.

Fu...FUCK why did you have to remind me of Howry? Damn you Mr. Common Sense! God damn you!

Lou better leave him off the roster, since he says he's going with the guys who are pitching well.

I will seriously throw shit at my TV if I see Bob Howry in the post-season. Just stick to Samardzja, Marmol, Wood, Marshall and...god, Jason Marquis. Also Lilly in game one. Maybe.

Wow, offensive players out-producing Cubs offensive players. This is shocking.

The Cubs don't have a single player with eye-popping stats...but each of our hitters can come up big in a situation. They all have pretty good stats.

Also, I'm just wondering because I haven't seen a Dodgers game lately...what kind of playing time is Pierre getting?
>> Anonymous
>>371152

late inning defensive when the game is not on the line. Juan Pierre is not starting a game. Ever. Even Torre recognizes that his arm is horrible.
>> Anonymous
And for fun. Pitching stats for the last month:

Derek Lowe: 4W 21K 0.50ERA 4QS
vs.

Ryan Dempster: 2W 27K 3.00ERA 3QS

Billingsley: 4W 30K 3.09ERA 4QS
vs.
Zambrano: 1W 16K 7.08ERA 1QS

Hiro Kuroda: 2W 18K 2.96ERA 2QS
vs.

Rich Harden: 1W 14K 2.65ERA 2QS

Lowe and Billingsley have pitched better down the stretch than Dempster and Zambrano, respectively. Kuroda and Harden have similar numbers. To say the Cubs rotation is far and away better is a bit much.

Granted. But I also would look at September's quality of competition for the Dodgers and take that into account.

Also for what it's worth, I do believe Billingsly will beat the Cubs in game two. Z has been too iffy lately and am kind of shocked he's getting the start in game 2 over Harden.

I figure it shows Lou's confidence in Lilly as Game 4's starter since he doesn't want to waste Harden going twice (assuming it's necessary). We'll see though. I'm really looking forward to this matchup. Cubsfagdom aside it looks like it'll be pitching duels all over the place and I prefer pitching dominated baseball over offensive dominated baseball.

It's pretty quality when they're throwing everything they have at you to make the post-season.

Also, the Cubs had already clinched by then. Watching them it didn't seem like they were trying that hard.

You may have a point though, especially with the lol Mets.

One thing that you might be missing is the Dodgers have decided to put 20 year old lefty Clayton Kershaw in the bullpen as the long relief guy. I know the Cubs are right handed heavy, but Kershaw projects to be just as good as Tim Linecium one day.

On that note, just look at all the big league pitching that came out of that 2006 draft, with Kershaw, Linecium, Andrew Miller, and Max Scherzer. Holy shit! And then the Royals picked Luke Hocheaver. LOL Royals.

Harden is by far the pitcher I fear most in that rotation. But, he's also made of glass. I'm still not a believer of Ryan Dempster. It is a BIG misconception his numbers are better at home than on the road. Sure, he's 14-3 at Wrigley but he has a higher WHIP and BAA at Wrigley than on the road.
>> Anonymous
The lineup we threw at him back in May at Wrigley was:

Pierre, Ethier, Martin, Kent, Sweeney, Kemp, DeWitt, Maza and Billingsley.

Replace Maza with Furcal, Sweeney with Loney, Pierre with Manny and Kent with Casey Blake.

Totally different team!

Carlos Zambrano is a giant wild card as he's looked just awful in his last two starts. Plus, he scratched himself from his final start because he wanted to throw in the bullpen rather than in a game. Zambrano threw an incredible game against Houston for his no-hitter but in doing so may have crippled the Cubs' chances at a title. We'll see but to me he's the key.

Rich Harden scares me as he is super good. But, he'll be facing 56,000 rabid Dodger fans as well.
>> St.Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
Real quick Dodgerfag one more question. I was looking at your September schedule and I saw Darth Vader. What was that about? Was it like Star Wars day or something?
