According to a report in Thursday's New York Post, several unnamed industry sources think the New York Yankees will make a serious play for Manny this winter to play right field.
"When you think about the parameters of who should be the highest-paid player in the game, Manny Ramirez fulfills them all," agent Scott Boras said in Bob Hohler's Sunday Globe article on the slugger.
Los Angeles Dodgers GM Ned Colletti told the LA Times that he has been "laughing at" recent reports of offers that the team supposedly intends to make to Ramirez. Colletti told the Times that the club hasn't any internal discussions about the value or length of any potential deal for Ramirez, and that he intends to meet with Boras in the near future.
If Ramirez looks elsewhere, "the Mets and Yankees could be players," writes the Globe's Nick Cafardo.
The Toronto Blue Jays interest, according to GM J.P. Ricciardi is marginal. The Blue Jays have downplayed their interest.
The Phillies could be players because of the Charlie Manuel association, but it wouldn't be like them to unbalance their payroll for one player."
