Parkour is bullshit Anonymous
I'm surprised that I can't find many people who think parkour is some fucking bullshit fad word.

Apparently some french douche thinks he invented the art of frolicking around a city, while his colleagues say that it wasn't invented, just conceptualized and named (which I could agree with).

But now every time someone hops a fence or jumps off a curb, or slides down some shit, it's fucking parkour... and parkour douches will do their best to point out that it's named "parkour". If you call it acrobatics, some dipshit will comment on it being parkour, and how some dipstick in paris invented it 20 years ago. This word is some kinda viral marketing for films starring "traceurs", that are just rehashes of old martials arts films.

This is stuff stuntmen (that's all traceurs are in these movies, stuntmen, anyway) have been doing for decades, but now fruitloops doing it in the year 2000 are traceurs. They were calling this bullshit ninjitsu before parkour became a common word. Now it's the same bullshit, but called parkour because it's "urban" bullshit.

Film stunts have vastly improved in quality since the conceptual entrance of "Parkour". Sometimes, A label is required for evolution. Stop arguing about what it's called and appreciate the pioneers who really pushed these kind of stunts forward.

Seriously, if people kept saying "NO! I'M NOT PLAYING SOCCER, I'M PLAYING A TEAM GAME WHERE THE PURPOSE IS TO GET THE BALL IN THE GOAL WITHOUT USING MY HANDS" the sport would get no-where.

The thing alot of the new "tracuers" miss out on is that there's a strong mental aspect to parkour. There's a reason you're hopping over shit, and it's not for the sake of having fun or being fit. The point is to prepare for an emergency situation, to be able to run way from something or to run to something. Like if a loved one is injured and you have to get there quickly.

Parkour has always existed, it's just that now that's the name people use for it. It was never invented, it might have been rediscovered, but it was never invented.

Come on, you know that "we need to do parkour because we might have to run across an obstacle course to save someone in a burning building" kind of crap is silly. In most situations there a more efficient way to travel quickly in an urban environment than parkour, like bicycling or hell, just driving. And while parkour could be useful to run away from a fight, which is a good idea in theory, every time I have been in a fight there has been someone with me who could not keep up if I ran off.

You don't need an excuse or higher reason to do parkour- it is good exercise, is fun, and looks cool.
