ITT: The 1 player you want your team to trade for before the deadline.

Red Sox: Huston Street; set-up.
>> Anonymous
Street is a straight up closer, don't get greedy soxfags.

Yankees - Scott Downs as a set-up man.

It's a little more realistic.

Please, any team, take Vidro, Batista, Washburn, Silva, Ibanez or almost anyone from us!

In a somewhat similar move.

Red Sox should go after Rafael Betancourt for set-up/bullpen, buy low.

Brewers: CC Sabath-

Oh wait. I'm good.

Btw, I was in Sf to watch his 4Hit CG yesterday

Pot calling the kettle black.

He could be set-up, see how he would fair.

Also, next year or sometime they always could put Papelbon into the rotation. But without a doubt the biggest problem the Red Sox have is the bullpen.

I think the problem lies with the rotation, when your best pitcher is gallaraga then you know somethings wrong. Not saying anything bad about him but isn't he just a rookie? and he's pitching better than the cy-young favorite verlander?

Papelbon will never be put into the rotation. He doesn't want to be. He's said that a million times. He's successful as a closer and stands to make a lot of money as a closer, not an unproven starter (and don't point to his starts in 2005, he wasn't that good).

As for Huston Street as a set-up man, didn't we try that experiment last year with a certain closer from Texas? I'd rather not. Rafael Betancourt seems like a good option, as another Anon suggested. We also have Masterson being groomed for a reliever role, likely in mid August or by September call-ups at the latest.

As for who I would like to see the Red Sox trade for before the deadline, I think they need to try and trade for SS, maybe Christian Guzman from Washington (.976 Fielding Percentage (thats 10 Ugglas in 409 Total chances) vs Lugo's .945 FP (16 Ugglas in 292 TC)) and is also outhitting Lugo by a fair margin (Guzman - .312 BA, 5 HR, 31 RBI, .341 OBP, 3 SB, 35 SO, 16 BB vs Lugo - .261 BA, 1 HR, 22 RBI, .355 OBP, 12 SB, 51 SO, 34 BB)
As for what to do when Lugo comes back, you could platoon them, try to trade Lugo, use Lugo as a utility player, or have the Mariner Moose run him over with his ATV.

Lowrie will be fine.

As for Gagne, he was nothing after he lost the fastball and he still isn't good when he's back in the closer role. Street could be different he's 24 not 32 like Gagne so he could still change. As for Masterson, I'm willing to bet he won't go into reliever anymore now after Buchholz's recent struggles and the ball hitting off his foot yesterday. Buchholz will be sent down and Masterson will take his spot in the rotation.
