>1)what is the salary cap/beckham rule?
Each team can have two player above the salary cap, which they pay out of their own pocket.

>2)how are certain teams like galaxy not hella over the salary cap?
Because they can pay as much as they want over the salary cap for those two players.

>3)wtf dc united have a team of all latin americans, arent there some guidlines as to how many foreign players a team can have?
I don't think there is, but I could be wrong.

you can have as many foreign players as you like, just only 2 over the salary cap.
I dont know how big the salary cap is, but there is a rule that allows you to have 2 superstar, hotshit, (european) players that dont count towards the salary cap.
That is why galaxy isnt over the cap.
Though they still suck. In their tour of Asia they won like 1 game.

Beckham isn't even a great player.. sure he's above average and sometimes plays well when it counts but he's massively overrated.

They didn't sign Beckham because he was a great player. They signed him because he is sexy and famous.

"major league" soccer? I daresay this entie topic is beneath me.

true but i feel that was a horrible plan. if your gonna try to get a big name to get the entire country interested in the sport you should probably get a player that exemplafies the more exciting parts of the sport.

What is that supposed to mean, exactly?

Beckham did a good job making an impact on Soccer in America. The guy has just about seen all there is to see with the sport and I'm sure he's a great "example".

no he is not. if you were never really into soccer a player like beckham wouldnt really inspire you. i agree that he is a good player but he isnt that exciting. americans want to see shakes and other thiongs that beckham doesnt quite provide.

I don't think America would be interested in soccer even if C Ronaldo, Messi and Kaka all went to play over there.

If there's no foreigners cap for teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd or Inter Milan, Then why would it apply to MLS teams?

>>33854
Truth, Americans seem to be quite jingoistic when it comes to protecting their own sports. Though the MLS is actually improving quite well according to the news. youtube some vids of the Canadian team in the MLS. Their fans are freaking brilliant.

I'd really love to see the 6-5 rule happen. The Premier League Big4 would fall apart, seeing how bad english players suck

Chelsea might be alright

Joe Cole, Shaun Wright Philips, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Scott Sinclair, etc

Arse-nal on the other hand would be completely lost.

L'pool have Stevie and Carra...anyone else? And what about ManU, Rooney, Carrick,...Scholes will retire soon, Neville is always injured, and the res of them suck

Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Wes Brown (not best but regular in the squad this season). Giggsy and Fletcher are from the UK. O'Shea (Not the best, but a good team player) is Irish hardly a foreigner. Hopefully Ben Foster can shine in the future as well,

Oh and, I think Scholes'll to Oldham for a few seasons before he retires, but him Neville and Giggs aren't gonna be around for much longer. A season or two.

there isnt a cap for english teams but they have work permits that dont allow just anybody to play there. i am pretty sure that there is a cap for forrign players in every other country
>> Anonymous
>>33905
most foreign player caps usually only count players as "foreign" when they are players from countries outside of the european union so im pretty sure all the teams would be alright

yeah, but the new nationalism bullshit slowly emerging would probably make foreign = anything but british.

mcclaren's failure has only slowed it down, not stopped it.

its true that they are getting more and more nationalist but their league is getting more and more diverse and their attitude doesnt seem to be affecting this
