June 26th, 2008 - A former Carolina Panthers football player was arrested for allegedly shooting a man in Waxhaw. It happened in broad daylight at a home that’s still under construction on Connell’s Point Avenue.

Neighbors told WCNC the victim was doing some sort of work on the house before he was shot.

Former defensive player for the Carolina Panthers Jimmy Hitchcock was arrested in connection with the shooting in the small Union County community.

"Kids look up to him. That’s not a good role model," says neighbor Victor Lupis. "It’s pretty crazy that in a nice neighborhood like this you would never guess that somebody would actually do a shooting."
