CATALONIA 2-2 EUSKADI - a secessionist match. Anonymous
A reivindicative match between Catalonia and Euskadi was played this afternoon in Camp Nou (Barcelona), with both of them presenting themselves not as autonomical, but national teams.

Basque and Catalonian nationalist politicians presided the match and the stands were full of independentist flags. On the other hand, a number of the crowd asked the freeing of the ETA terrorist Juana de Chaos.

The game was played just a day after Spanish Euro match against Sweden, and was preceded by a harsh polemic as an advertisement of this match using children to repudiate the Spanish national team was broadcasted.

The adversiment can be seen here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FlNYln0Dw0

Luque and VerdĂș scored por Catalonia while Aduriz and Llorente did so for the Basque side.

This is relevant to my interests - arent Atletic Bilbao paraded as a Basque national side or is just joke?

yeah, Athletic Bilbao only uses Basque players. Which i think is pretty cool but at the same time amusing because as the name implies (Athletic and not Atletico) it was established by Englishmen.

I knew that - but there was a story, well a rumour really that they do that and that they not wear any sponsors on the shirts because they see themselves as a national side and therefore are not allowed to. Plus their 'cantera' policy of promoting their own ypung talents is something that should be obligatory everywhere

and obiously sorry for the double post
