Vince Young - Response To Red HKK !h7MHU9L/Oo
Vince Young had an over 60% completion percentage last year (62.3%). McNabb didn't have a percentage that high until his 6th year. In fact, he's only gone 60% or over twice. Tom Brady has had higher than that three times in seven years as a starter. Aikman was above 60% half his career and below 60% the other half. Fifteen years John Elway was below the completion percentage Vince had last year, thirteen of those below 60%.

The fact is that Vince makes a lot of plays. He threw more INTs than TDs by too big a margin. However, a large amount of those were tips from his receivers, and not poor throws into a defender's arms. And how many passes should have been TDs but were dropped by his receivers? Vince has played well. That is not to say he doesn't make mistakes, but the typical characterization of him is not based in reality.

For the record, Vick never completed more than 56.4% of his passes. The fact that Vince's completion percentage was over 60% last year despite all of his receiver's drops is amazing to be honest.

Vince Young, as a rookie, led his team to a tie for second place in the AFC South, and narrowly missed the playoffs which I believe they were in contention for until the last week. Last year he led his team to 10-6 and the playoffs, again, in the toughest division in the AFC, maybe in the NFL.

If Vince had the receivers your boy Matt Leinart has the Titans would be borderline unstoppable. But Vince doesn't even have one receiver like either of those guys (maybe the Titans should consider making a serious run at Boldin ).

Just last week Justin McCareins dropped at least one sure-thing TD. He was behind every last defender and Vince put it right on his hands in stride, and he dropped it. Another huge pass, potentially for a TD or to put them in position for a TD, was dropped by Gage.

You'll never get an accurate idea of Vince just watching his stats. With the defense they have, and the running backs they have, they would be a powerhouse in the AFC if Vince's receivers would catch the balls that hit them in the hands. And right now, with Collins, they're looking like a juggernaut with a back-up. Imagine how much better they would be with Vince.

Too bad he cuts himself.

As for him being a quitter and the whole retirement rumor. Football becomes more work and less fun the higher a level you play at. I wouldn't trust the mental stability of anyone who plays at a professional level who doesn't contemplate retirement at least once a season.

On the blown out of proportion "incident" that happened in early September, he left his house to go hang out with close friends rather than his family. How many times have you done that in your life? I'm willing to bet quite a few. The only reason the cops got involved was because Vince didn't bring his cell phone with him and his family overreacted.

But hey, if you wanna listen to what the media tells you rather than doing your own research, that's fine but just know that ESPN or even columns on the internet are not the word of God.

Sure, Vince had a decent completion percentage.

That's about it.

He was in the bottom ten of the league in yards per attempt, 29th in TD% and 26th in QB rating.

Your excuse for INTs could apply to EVERY QB in the league.

An INT is an INT, there is no way around it.

Vince Young sucks.

That's all there is to it.

3rd in the league in TDs, 2nd in QB rating, 2nd in TD%, 7th in completion %, and 4th in Yards per attempt.

Young can't carry Roethlisberger's jock strap.

The only reason that the Steelers were even IN the SB was due to Ben's arm.

Take a look at the THREE AWAY GAMES during the Playoffs where Ben carried the Steeler offense.

Hell, he made plenty of plays that lead to the Steeler victory. Including running for a TD. Things that don't show up in QB rating.

No one is saying young is great but he is definitely not bad, and he is in his 3rd year, after being tossed to the lions his first year, and being the only offensive weapon his second year

I know its fun for you to hate him more cause hes black (lol racisim maeks me edgey), but Im sure most Titans fans are fine with him at QB in the future. Its hard to take a QB that was the man in college and his 1st 2 years in the league on offense and try and turn him into a game manager type QB.
>> HKK !h7MHU9L/Oo
>>383720

If you would like to point out where in the thread I said VY was better than Roethlisberger, I'd love to see it.

Anyway, moral of the story, Vince is better than people say and he has a bunch of potential, he just needs some tweaking, the same can be said for several young quarterbacks.

>>383727
Yeah and I would take a trent dilfer and BR over Young any day. Look what kerry collins is doing with that team. They arent "tipping balls for INTS" like ya boy. The fact of the matter is VY tries to make too many plays with his feet just like vick did and that will only get you on the top 10 on sportscenter.

Completion percentage is not as important as TD:INT or yards/attempt. The bottom line is Vincey makes too many mental errors and holds onto the ball for too long.

SB rings are still a team effort and not a good way to measure a quarterback. Cue the Trent Dilfer/Brad Johnson argument.

It is for a running team like the Titans, all their QB does is get them inside the 10, give it to CJ, then Lendale.
