Conference champs.

Troy clinches the Sun Belt championship, and FIU clinches the perfect winless season, all in the same game. And they didn't televise this?

Troy is going to get crushed by Rice though. Rice has won six straight, and their offense is really good.

I sense sarcasm.

Rice is pretty good, but note that Sun Belt teams went 3-3 against C-USA this season. This game might be worth watching, as it's also Rice's first bowl since 1961.

Sun Belt runner-up Middle Tennessee gets the MAC Champ, Central Michigan. These two games will determine who the worst I-A conference really is. I sense a power shift.

If you eliminated Ohio State and Michigan, the Big Ten would be the worst conference in college football.

The MAC is significantly better than the Sun Belt, though. The Sun Belt has no team with a chance of breaking the Top 12 -ever-, while the MAC has had teams finish the season that highly before (Miami of Ohio finished 10th in 2003, Marshall finished 10th in 1999).

Whoa there, cowboy, take it on back to the stable. Are we playing the elimination game?

Take Boise and Idaho out of the WAC, they're not much better than the Sun Belt. Take BYU out of the Mountain West, and they're on par, too. And let's not even go into the ACC.

Troy knocked off a ranked opponent last year, and kept up with Florida State until late in the game. And the MAC (and C-USA) doesn't have a ranked team THIS year... because all those coaches left for greener pastures. The Sun Belt is just as capable of having a break-out year as any of those others. Not the least of which includes the fact that the conference shares five states with the SEC-- generally believed to be the best conference... and recruiting ground.

Fixed.

The comment about the Big Ten was just a joke, though I do believe it has been a terrible top-to-bottom conference this year.

Troy did beat Missouri, but Missouri's finish proved that they did not deserve to be ranked at the beginning of the season. Troy's near win against Florida State this season is also a case of a game that looked better at that time, with Florida State either finishing 7-6 or 6-7.

p.s. when was the last time a Sun Belt team finished the season ranked? Better yet, when was the last time a Sun Belt team even broke into the rankings?

Even going toe-to-toe with a 6-6 BCS team is better than the Belt was doing 5 years ago. It's called progress.

Have they had a ranked team? No. Has the MAC had a ranked team this year? No. Has the WAC had a team ranked longer than 2 weeks, other than Boise State? No. Has C-USA had a ranked team since they went to 12 teams? Mmm... maybe UTEP for like five minutes.

So basically... watch your back. You don't know where YOUR next loss to an unranked team is coming from. Booyah.

I'm not being sarcastic. Beating Memphis and scrubs like that doesn't mean Troy stands a chance against an actual good C-USA team. Rice will crush them. Won't even be close.

If Troy wins the game, then you can brag. Until they prove otherwise, Sun Belt deserves the lack of respect that they've gotten for years.

You don't even know who the good teams in the WAC are. I can't take you seriously.

If I remember correctly, Mizzou wasn't ranked pre-season. They broke into the bottom of the rankings briefly mid-season after their hot start.

Sun Belt is improving, but they're still at the bottom of 1-A. There isn't a program in the conference that doesn't have to go out on the road a couple times a year and get their butts kicked by a major program, all for a paycheck.

And North Texas had a pretty good thing going, then they hit two down years, and they fire their coach less than a month after he has a heart attack. I hope North Texas slides down to the bottom of the Sun Belt, and doesn't stop sliding till they're out of 1-A.

I would like to point out that even though UAB went 3-9 this season, we still whipped Troy's asses again this year.
Go Blazers!
