What's the best rivalry in sports?

Pic unrelated because it's not a real rivalry but a rivalry fueled by the media.

I see a pattern here.

Basically, pro sports cannot compare to the passion of college sports.

Duke vs. Carolina fag here. I wouldn't really say that. Just that the college rivalries are always relevant even though they are one sided just as often as any prosports rivalry.

Good call on Rangers vs. Celtic. The added protistents vs. catholics angle gives it extra some spice. Oh, and the fact that at least one fan is killed by the other fan base every time they play.

Most rivalries in pro sports suck; sadly, most of the good rivalries in pro sports occur in the NHL, with almost no good rivalries of any sort in the NBA or MLB. The NFL has good division rivalries, but even a lot of those suck, or are made up by the media (There are no true division rivalries in the NFC West, NFC South, AFC South or AFC North, and the AFC East rivalries are highly overated. Only the NFC East, NFC North and AFC West has rivalries that can get truly get fans RAAAAAAAGING about the other, no matter when or where it's going down, or if either team is good or sucks balls)

I agree, the AFC East these days have lost the flair for rivalries... Miami vs. the Jest is fun, but kind of one sided.

<y favorite in Pro Football was before the realignment though. Miami Dolphins vs. Indianapolis Colts (in b4 underage b& forgetting they were even in the same division) was a clash game after game, and on at least three years it even extended into the playoffs. It was a lot of fun to say the least, especially as a Dolphins fan.

Yea, as a Colts fan, I miss the AFC East rivalries. In the South it's just the Colts and a bunch of teams who build their entire roster to play us and no one else. Seriously, I've hated the Pats for like 19yrs. When we were both 1-3 win teams the Pats would always beat us, and then we would go beat the Jets.
>> SSG Posted Here
>>435645
I know they are both Original Six teams, and it should be considered a rivalry, but the Canadians rape the Bruins every year. It's like how the Sox got raped by the Yankees year after year, and unfortunately for Bruins fans, it will take just as long as the Bruins to win it all again as it took the Red Sox.
>> Anonymous
>>435669
>but the Canadians rape the Bruins every year
Bruins took the Canadiens to game 7 last year in the playoffs despite being dominated in the season series. Rivalries in the playoffs > Regular season rivalries

Yea, the damn media stepped in when both teams got good. I wasn't surprised at all when the modern Colts lost a bunch of early games to your Pats. Damnit I want back in the East. Can you imagine what the last seven years would have been like if we played in the same division...
>> Anonymous
>>435710
As a Dolfag, I say its alright if you come back... just remember even when we are doing bad, more often then not we would beat a Manning-led Colts team. Its kind of like how we always split games against a Brady-led Patriots team.

What I'm trying to say is that some way, some how, we will troll you. And it will be glorious.

The Dolphins are the greatest troll team in the NFL. They always manage to beat teams they should never beat.

I'd have to say that Leafs/Sens is a more intense rivalry these days than Leafs/Habs (although those games are still great). At least there seems to be a modicum of respect between the Canadiens and Leafs... not so much b/w the Leafs and Sens.

btw, the AFC North has some great rivalries, Browns/Steelers is one of the best in the NFL, even though the Steelers have dominated the last couple of years.

Hockey has the best rivalries and the best moments in rivalries. Brawls are awesome. But Sens/Sabres should be in there. Not a fan of either team and I hate the East but that is a damn good rivalry.
