Brb, NY Yankees....

Uhhh.... why? I really don't see this helping the yankees at all.

Are you saying you wouldn't trade two low-level prospects and Wilson Betemit for Nick Swisher?

I would have traded Betemit for a bag of dirty baseballs.

Why do teams continue to let the Yankees fleece away quality players for shit prospects. Also, why do the Yankees still suck despite teams trying to help them.

A 38 year old Giambi would have performed a little better, for $18 million more. Makes sense for the Yanks, but Swisher is mostly useless as an everyday first baseman. I don't know what their farm system looks like, but if you don't have a guy you can call up to at least deliver league average to sub-average hitting at 1B they've got some serious problems.

Marquez and Nunez may have some upside, and Kenny Williams is going with a 'youth movement' this year, so it makes sense for the Sox too. Now what do do about the aging sluggers and mediocre pitchers making 8 digits and not performing anywhere near what they're being paid...

Swisher will be a specialist bench player used only in certain situations. Kinda like what they wanted Richie Sexson to be last year, but without the .107 batting average. Him being added will add flexibility to the outfield and infield especially when certain players need days off.

They will still gun for Tex, CC, Burnett, etc etc

Better hope they get all of them, or Yanks still don't have a chance at better than 3rd in the division.
