So Dumars made it clear that he's open to breaking up Detroit's core to freshen the roster. Rumors are flying where we could possibly ship some of our players to. One being making a trade with the Bobcats, where we would most definitely be sending Sheed to, another being making a trade with the Heat to acquire Shawn Marion.

The newest rumor is a trade with the Rockets. Dumars mentioned that with the NBA rules hurting defensive bound teams, he now wants a superstar to come to Detroit, namely Tracy McGrady. Possible options could be Billups, Sheed, and Prince for McGrady and Battier. I doubt this will probably happen, since it's only a rumor, but getting someone like McGrady, though injury prone, would be a ticket seller in Detroit, and would most definitely change our whole scheme as a team. We could now be looking at a 1-2 combo with McGrady and Rip, with up and coming players like Stuckey and Maxiel.

How do Pistonfags feel about this? Something is definitely going to happen to the core of our team this coming offseason. Discuss.

Your problem is that KG doesn't play for your team.

Sheed hasn't been an interior scorer for years.

BRB taking a fall-away jumper.

TMac aint going nowhere. No matter what you say about him he makes his teams go the distance. First round distance. Surely the Pistons dont want to break their ECF streak

With T-Mac on your team, you'll never get past the 1st round =\ sorry

yeah he's been falling in love with that shot the past couple seasons.

Why would you go for Battier?

You already have 1 of the 2 best wing defenders, why would you want the other one?

It just seems like that trade really isn't helping the need positions.

OP here, from how Dumars is responding, he now wants to swing things from defense to offense. I don't know if anyone else has heard of these rule changes or anything, I don't know much about them either, but supposedly it's going to hurt defensive-minded teams, i.e. Pistons and the Spurs, namely someone like Billups. I really have no clue about this, maybe someone else can enlighten us, but it sure looks to me that Dumars has his mind set in shipping out Sheed and Billups.

This shit is fucked up. Every time the Pistons do well, their ownership breaks the team up and lowers the payroll.

The Pistons are now the Florida Marlins of the NBA.

I think the rules took place after the Pistons won in '04. It was why Chicago fans were so pissed off at spending so much money on Big Ben.

Nah, we'll be fine, if Dumars makes the right moves we'll still be better than most teams in the east. We're kind of forced to get rid some players anyway, like sheed and mcdyess.

we're suppose to be throwing in Prince FOR Battier. idk, maybe Dumars thinks Battier is better offensively.

Rocketsfag here.

Battier better than Prince offensively? Doubt it. Shane basically got all his points on put-backs and open 3's. I'll say his go-to move (Turnaround left-hand hook) is pretty good, but other than that, he's not much on offense.

perhaps it's to get another player who knows how to play with McGrady? other than that idk.

Why would the Pistons hang onto a stud SG and trade studs at other positions for another stud SG?
>> Anonymous

Did you read the OP's post?

Another reason is sheed and mcdyess are old, and billups is getting up there, not to mention stuckey making himself known. With all this young talent, you might as well help build around it.

As for Rip and McGrady, I'm sure one will be placed at SG and the other at SF if Prince leaves too. If not, Prince will prolly be moved to a "taller" position.

I guess I can see McGrady wanting to push for something like this. With all the tough competition in the west, he'd have a better chance at making it to the finals if he played for the Pistons.

No way TMac gon play for one of the teams that eliminated him

Yes, and "grabbing a ticket seller" is a dumbass reason to hurt yourself at other positions while improving at a position you don't need improvement at.

I think all they'd really need to do is trade Sheed and *possibly* Billups. The team really loves Curry, and I have high expectations of him too, at least the players will listen to him and not someone like Fail Saunders. I kinda would like to shop around sheed and billups together to see what we can get, since stuckey is coming around, but I'd rather like the Billups/Stuckey split, and keep Mr. Big Shot in for those games he's needed. But if we can get good value out of Sheed, and Curry being our coach, I have a strong feeling about the pistons making it to the finals next season.

How would we be hurting ourselves? There'd be no problem in moving players around to get the most out of the starting lineup offensively. I don't wanna get rid of Billups either, but that's why we have Stuckey. He has great potential, and has already shown it in the playoffs. And Sheed is hardly a stud anymore. I don't know much about what rules the OP is talking about, and how it hampers Billups ability, but Dumars certainly knows that if he has to go because of this, then he has to go, and they'd have to get as much offensive talent as possible for him and sheed.

As a Roxfag I see no reason for this. The Rox would get older, be stuck with 2 starting PGs and no starting SGs. All they need roster-wise is bench depth, especially scoring. And while a Sheed/Yao front-court looks great on paper, I don't think it works irl.

We're riding the T-Mac/Yao train for at least 2 more seasons.

I only see Sheed going to the Bobcats for whoever they want to give up for him. But if Dumars is serious about breaking up the roster, who knows.

I agree, going to rockets would seem like a 1-sided trade

I can see him going to the bobcats because they need another big man.
>> Anonymous
I can't see Dumars doing this with McGrady being injury prone. He's basically high risk, it would be quite a gamble IMO

I've seen weirder trades made...like the Celtics and Timberwolves before this season.

if dumbnig does this trade he really needs to get fired, from ECF to second round virgins.
