I was only one year old back then, but that game has put this city into a slump which it has never recovered from. Since then we've never been good enough and that title has stuck and doesn't seem like it will ever be removed.

Either way, here's another occasion that hurts. I was 9 then, and I still remember not being able to sleep for days after that. Not to mention it was fucking forward. That call was bullshit.

Anyone who refuses to accept the fact they lost. Your team lost, it's over, just take it, rebuild, and prepare for the future. Your obsession with the lost automatically causes a negative attitude, and makes the team be set up to fail.
Just look at the Cleveland Browns after The Drive and The Fumble, the Buffalo Sabres after the No Goal, Stanford after The Play (ESPECIALLY Stanford after The Play), the Bills after Wide Right and...........well, whatever that return is named.

So just get over it, and focus on the future, and not on the past.

what happened that game?
>> Anonymous
>>315362

That was the 2006 Oklahoma-Oregon football game. Oklahoma was leading 33-27 with just over a minute left, so Oregon had to onside kick. Allen Patrick recovered for Oklahoma and, as the picture in this thread shows, was standing there with the ball while the refs were digging through the pile trying to figure out who had recovered (not that it mattered, the ball actually only went nine yards before an Oregon player touched it, so it should have been Oklahoma ball regardless). The refs gave it to Oregon, the replay official upheld the call, and Oregon "won" 34-33.
>> Anonymous
>>315362
Oregon kicks an onside kick.

Before the ball travels ten yards, an Oregon player touches the ball. This should have been a penalty awarding the ball to Oklahoma, making a Sooner win three kneels away from certainty.

The officials awarded the ball to Oregon despite no Oregon player ever recovering the ball. Allen Patrick, OU RB, clearly recovers the onside.

Later, when Oregon was driving, Oklahoma was flagged for defensive pass interference on a third and long play. Bob Stoops challenges the play, on the basis that the ball was deflected before contact, which would have negated the call. Video evidence clearly shows the ball was deflected before the PI took place, but the replay booth upheld the call.
>> Anonymous
>>315368continued

The Pac 10 suspended the replay crew and officials for a week after the game, effectively confessing that their blunders cost Oklahoma the game.
>> Anonymous
>>315368
Then to make it all the more painful for me (I went to school at Oklahoma at the time), Oklahoma gets the ball back IN FIELD GOAL RANGE with seconds left. Garret Hartley's kick is blocked as time expired. That one last chance to undo the obvious screw job ending the way it did was like a kick in the balls.

>> Anonymous
>>315368
Up until this year, down by contact was not a reviewable play. The whistle blew before Allen Patrick actually recovered the ball even though he was the first one to be in full possession. That is the only bad call on the field that play and there was no way to review it.

None of the replays show a clear view at the correct angle to say with certainty that the ball didn't travel ten yards. That call would have been upheld whichever way it was initially called because you have to have indisputable video evidence to overturn anything.

In conclusion, it was a bad call, but it's not like it was the fifth down or anything. I've seen much worse.

Hiow did they not deserve to win?

They beat the pats fair and square. Maybe your team should have played better then, hm?

It just sounds like massive butthurt to me.

afc divisional round of playoffs. scare was jags 14 pats 21. dennis northcutt dropped a pass inside the new england 5 yardline... we had to settle for a feild goal, and it broke our momentum for that game... but it if we didnt lose, we wouldnt have had 18-1. maybe we won by losing

As a JagFag, I would rather have a Super Bowl than 18-1, but 16-1 would have been even more epic imo. Undefeated regular season only to lose in their first playoff game would have been some epic fail.

>dennis northcutt dropped a pass

Big shock there. We gave him the nickname "Dropcutt" in Cleveland.
