you mean the USA team plays better when the rules are on their side? WOW!!

not to mention about 15 other countries play perfectly well with said rules in place.

Why American basketball players are even willing to play a modified version of our own sport is beyond me. They took OUR sport and applied their own rules.

However, I still won't let that excuse them losing so often in international play. It's embarrassing regardless.

um. it's the NBA who keeps modifying rules to fit the "NBA game." The FIBA rules are what you might call the... basic rules, as in "rules before the NBA found that they could theoretically control the way the game is played so they just had to change them."

Why is this discussion even going on? Do Euros really think the Latvian Basketball team could beat the Pistons or the Suns or something in a real game that mattered and the American players cared about?

I must've missed the part where basketball started with a trapezoid lane and tiny ass 3 point line!

If the international game was "basketball pure", as you claim, they wouldn't play with:

-a 3 pt line at all
-a smaller ball (this is really the one that forces the ???? response. WTF? Use the American size ball, it is our damn game after all)
-any lane at all.

Personally, I don't mind the lane, I don't think it's an issue. The 3 pt line is way too short, but that shouldn't be an issue either. The smaller ball thing is just absurd, and a huge reason why US team seem to shoot so poorly.
