Any MMA fans on here?

pic very related.

I am.

Which fights are you looking forward to?

Serra V St Pierre for me, St Pierre is starting to look awesome again.
>> Anonymous
I can't wait for Hendo vs Silva
>> Anonymous
>>18411
Not to kick on Serra but he got lucky, GSP was always awesome, he's one of the top fighters pound for pound.

I'm looking forward to 82, especially Hendo vs Silva, even though it might sound dumb to the uneducated fans, Hendo has quite a good shot on Silva. He's got pretty good stand up and has a stronger clinch then Silva (body clinch).

I'm also looking forward Bielkheden vs Sanchez, mostly because I'm swedish and David looks like he could be a force, he's currently with BTT for crying out loud.

It's nice to Arlovski back in business. I can't wait for Sherk vs Penn whenever it happens!

But what's got me really riled up is the first GP with DREAMS, PRIDE reincarnated, going to love it.

lol Arlovski on the undercard...owned

So, any news on Lesnar having a new fight?
I'm kinda itching to see him get owned again.

I completely agree with you about Serra getting lucky. It was a mad fight. I wouldn't write Serra off though, he is tricky and could get lucky again.

A pseudo-fan here. I follow only loosely, but my main intrest is on seeing who and when will it be that'll topple Fedor. As I see it, he's the ruler of all fighters today. As I see it, if there's people better than him out there, they're either not the ambitious type or the kind of people who don't want publicity for their doings.

Fedor has one true weakness, his skin is so fair that he cuts/bruises extremely easy. That's how he lost his fight to Tsuyoshi Kosaka, although it was from an Illegal elbow; He was also stopped by Nogueira in their second fight. ( No Contest though. )

FEDOR VS KENNY FLORIAN, GO!
>> menchi !IgWlr3a0sk
had a friend who used to fight MMA/UFC.
Fought as 'Tank Abbot'
still have one of the crew shirts from when he was in UFC.
pretty cool guy.

>>18454
Actually the Fedor TK fight was a bullshit match, TK got the win instead of a no contest/DQ because it was a tournament and one fighter had to advance and it wasnt going to be Fedor due to the cut.

Fedors only weakness aside from cuts is his chin, he got rocked against Fujita but recovered nicely. Should also be noted that Fedor is not number one in the world in the rankings at this moment, Noguiera is. Fedor has been to inactive and has only been fighting scrubs the times he faught. It doesnt matter if Nogueria got his ass beat by Fedor, Nog caught the UFC HW belt while all Fedor did was fight Dong Man choi.

>>18522
Yeah I know Matt hughes, bj penn, sean sherk and lots more, dont believe me? Prove me wrong.
>> Mirko Crocop !!mS/SIsua8mT
>>18410

Yep. I don't think there's been a better time to be a fan. Dream starting the EPIC lightweight GP, UFC doing well and today Elite XC reached a deal with CBS.

>>18436

UFC 85...forgot who is opponent was though

>>18447
>>who and when will it be that'll topple Fedor. As I see it, he's the ruler of all fighters today.

That's why it's so frustrating seeing him take fights with Hong Man Choi and the like. And Randy-Fedor looks like it's still a long shot.

if I was going to lie about something that boring, I'd at least pick someone with a better record who'd fought in the last ten years.

You comment on the fact that I was trying to be sarcastic about knowing fighters?

Either way, you're telling me Matt Hughes, BJ Penn and Sean Sherk have bad records? They're the fuckin cream of the crop, if you say otherwise you know diddly squat about MMA and obviously needs to stop watching TUF.
>> menchi !IgWlr3a0sk
>>18839
no, I meant your reply sounded like sarcasm, and a weak attempt to troll me and imply I was lying.
>> menchi !IgWlr3a0sk

I also stopped paying attention to MMA when it stopped being interesting.. which was after the first 10 or 12 televised tournaments.
I liked UFC back in the early to mid 90s
>> Anonymous
>>19247
There hasnt been 10 or 12 tournaments, the CSAC do not allow figthers to fight twice on the same night.

You know, come think of it, I bet you know Fat Abbot, he's a party type of guy obviously so it wouldn't suprise me if you know him.

Where exactly are these "world rankings" you speak of? Fedor is clearly still on top, until someone beats him or he announces his retirement.

Hughes is the only one with a decent record, BJ Penn's is sub-par, as he doesn't know which division to stay in.

Sherk? He was a nobody at WW, and is a nobody at LW now. He beat a bunch of scrubs, and lost EVERY big fight at Welterweight.

It sounds as if you're the one who knows "diddly squat" about MMA.
>> Anonymous
>>19413
No, rankings change all the time, if you're inactive for a whole year (like Fedor) and then when you finally come back and fights and you fight a scrub like Hong Man Choi, you get bumped of the #1 spot. Nogueira just capped the UFC HW belt, beating Hong Man Choi isn't even comparable.
>> Anonymous
>>18410

No.

>>19415
Fine, but the point was that the UFC haven't had tournaments since the really early UFCs.
>> Anonymous
>>19416
Penn is pound for pound the greatest fighter around these days, Hughes was the fucking reigning WW champion for a long fucking time, how is that only decent?

And Sherk was the LW champ untill he got juice tested, he's got a solid record (albeit against plenty scrubs) and he fucking went 5 rounds with Hughes winning at least 2. Go fucking learn something.
>> Anonymous
>>19515
Yeah its pretty impressive that sherk is the champ while he's all roided up.
>> Anonymous
>>19515
>Penn is pound for pound the greatest fighter around these days,

Based on what? Him losing to Hughes? St. Pierre? Oh, I know, beating Jens Pulver? Give me a break, Penn might be the "Prodigy", but his record is lackluster.

>Hughes was the fucking reigning WW champion for a long fucking time, how is that only decent?
He lost to Pele, and Hallman. He also just got raped twice by GSP. His record is decent, but considering the shape of the division now... it's going to be surpassed very quickly.

>And Sherk was the LW champ untill he got juice tested, he's got a solid record (albeit against plenty scrubs) and he fucking went 5 rounds with Hughes winning at least 2. Go fucking learn something.

Sherk has a solid record? Name one top ten fighter he beat, period. Oh wait, you can't, because he hasn't beaten any.

>>19510
Hmm... to be honest, I'm not completely ready to count Choi off as a complete scrub. Sure, he's even less skilled than Lesnar but that physique grants advantages that are genuinely difficult to overcome, which certainly showed to an extent in the Fedor fight.

He got beat by fucking LeBanner and Jeremy gave him like two miles in reach!

If you're talking about K-1 World GP Final 2007, Choi said after the fight that he didn't continue in the tournament on purpose. He had his fight with Fedor coming up, and he didn't want to get injured.

Hendo V Silva will be a GOOD fight. Silva is a scary bastard, but Hendo is just so incredibly tough. They both have great ground games too. Should be interesting to watch.

that kinda depends on WHAT part of Pro Wrestling we are talking about because anything OUTSIDE WWE is considered a sport take this quote for example

In Japan its a Sport
In Canada its a Tradtition
In Mexico its a Religion
In America its a Joke

MMA is the only sport i follow now

nothing else is as exciting. i can't even watch boxing anymore.
>> Osaka Pro`s Super Delpin
It could be argued modern MMA in part came out of pro-wrestling and shoot style wrestling.
At least in Japan, in the early days many of the people who would become big names in MMA worked for the likes of NJPW and shooto groups.

Hell guys like Bas Rutten and Rampage have done pro-wrestling, fot NJPW and BattlArts.

But as much as I love Pro-Wrestling I`d never call it a sport. But than MMA also has a history fixed matches.

Well I`m going to watch some fucking Smackgirl now.

I still have a bunch of unwatched random women`s MMA shows from Japan that I need to watch. So mutch stuff to watch and so little time.
