While other teams were focused on the free agent market, the Edmonton Oilers re-vamped their roster with a couple of trades. The Oilers have traded hard-hitting left winger Raffi Torres to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for 21-year-old centre Gilbert Brule, and sent defenceman Joni Pitkanen to the Carolina Hurricanes for winger Erik Cole.

Nice moves.

>> Anonymous
>a Gagne/Briere/Hossa line could be scary

It would be garbage. Hossa and Briere are both opprotunistic scorers and require other players to distract defensemen to be effective. This works if you have one, low-key scorer on a line, but two is just begging to get defense-raped.

Briere needs a big, aggressive tough-guy to help him out when defensemen key in on him. I'd say Bertuzzi for the lulz of it, but Philly goons just enough as it is.
>> Anonymous
>>198556
Knuble plays that role for them.

Wild grab Brunette. Still waiting on something massive to happen.
>> Anonymous
>>198556

lol, Philly goons.

Bertuzzi? no, god only knows how many games he'll be able to play in. Gagne may not be a tough physical presnece, but he's a decent 2-way player, but that line will definitely have weaknesses. Plus Hossa is gonna be too damn expensive.

He's great, but such a one way player. He needs to learn the defensive aspect of the game as well. Also he tends to give up on plays quite easily. He should have a much better year this coming season though. Him and Gagne will do well together.
