yeah, in a smoke filled room somewhere in area 51 a group of yankees fans decides who wins and who doesn't.

oh wait, it's voted on by the managers and coaches, with managers not being allowed to vote for their own players. fail more, asshole.

jeter rules. stop trying so hard to be a non-conformist faggot

Jeter barely can make routine plays, he just makes a couple of flashy plays everyonce and a while and people think he's a God. Check out Omar Vizquel, that's what a goldglove shortstop should look like.

>>329379Jeter barely can make routine plays

okay, tell that to the managers and coaches who voted for him who know much, much more about the game baseball than you ever will.

OK, fuck it. I have nothing better to do, I'll feed the damn troll.

Jeter won Gold Gloves in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Let's look at the numbers for each of those years.

Range Factor is usually known as the best determination of defensive ability. It takes into account not only how well you field the balls you can get to, but how many you can get to during the course of a season. Jeter's ranking amongst American League shortstops each of those years:

2004 - 8th of 11 qualifying players
2005 - 2nd among 10 qualifying players (ok, he may have actually deserved this one)
2006 - Among 9 qualifying players, dead fucking last.

If you have some other way you'd like to quantify your argument beyond JETER IS THE FUCKING MAN!!!11!!!!1!eleven!!!! CRUISE CONTROL then please let me know. Until then, shut the fuck up, faggot.

Actually, Ultimate Zone Rating, Revised Zone Rating, Dewan's Plus/Minus, and FRAA are better measures of defense...but the point still stands that Jeter's defense sucks donkey balls.

I like Jeter, but he's not even the best defensive shortstop on his own team.

I still rage that they picked up A-Rod (a perennial gold glover at short) and moved his ass to third, just so the hometown boy Derek could keep air-mailing groundball relays over Tino/Giambi's head.

And this is coming from a Red Sox fag, I'll tell you why he's overrated.

1. He throw nothing but fastballs, he used to throw a nasty splitter and the slider but now it's nothing but fastballs. This has cost quite of few losses as well, since the batters know what is coming.

2. He doesn't care about men on base. He only sees the batter, nothing else matters. Most of the time the man on 1st will steal or defensive indifference.

3. He is just fucking stupid. From what he said at the All-Star game to having his dog eat the World Series ball after he forgot what happened to it. And recently about throwing to many fastballs; "I don’t feel there’s a reason for me going to my second-best pitch when I’m effective with my No. 1." Again....fucking moron.

>>329746
Maybe, but have you seen this. I am pretty sure it renders your argument completely invalid.
>> Anonymous
>>329746

I always thought his splitter was his best pitch. Fuck, that thing was naaaaaaaaasty.

themoreyouknow.jpeg
>> Anonymous
>>329746

The Dog didn't eat the ball, he just didn't want to give it up, which he was supposed to.

And wait until the playoffs for the splitter. The Sox tend to hold back alot of the pitchers versitility until the playoffs. Last year they did the same thing, then in the playoffs people just looked funny against Beckett, Dice-K, and Paps cuase they were useing things people hadn't seen all season.
You can't throw special pitchs over and over again, or else they become Zitos curveball.

Don't get me started. I don't even want to think about this question - I could rattle off about a hundred players but don't want to RAAAAAGE right now.

I'm just gonna say that all closers are overrated. A 2-0 9th inning lead is bigger than you think.
>> Anonymous
>>329886
That rookie in Oakland may be the exception; he is the first closer in over a decade to regularly throw more than one inning. A writer for SI says he may bring back the two inning closer, due to too many managers being pissed off that their closers don't throw enough innings or pitch in enough games anymore.
>> Anonymous
>>329891

Since the art of closing your own fucking game is lost, I think every baseball fan would love to see this. Fuck the set-up guy. Fuck middle relivers getting 'holds'. Gayest fucking stat in all of sport. 'Hold'. Should be called 'Did my fucking job, and probably gave up a couple runs doing it, but we're still ahead somehow despite my fucking ineptitute.'

raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage

Jeter could honestly not care about being called overrated or underrated. His main goal is to win.

This season so many times and in the past, every time they interview him about his personal achievements he always says it something he doesn't care about, im glad we won today.

Derek Jeter is a future hall of famer. How a hall of famer is overrated is beyond me.

Also don't say A-Rod is overrated, jesus christ...
