Baseball is a 162 game/season sport. I'm sure that'll be down to around 5.00 by the end of year. Lulz.
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
lulz, LaTroy Hawkins coming in to Stop the Bleeding.

Rays biggest weakness, the shitty bullpen.TLRF can agree.
>> Anonymous
>>101261
they've had a really solid bullpen so far

It's not a weak link as a whole...It's just Glover and Miller are piles of shit.

Percy is Percy, Wheeler is pretty good, Reyes is decent for what we're using him for, Howell is a bad ass Long Relief guy.

There is no way in Hell Glover should be on the ML roster over Balfour though, 20 Scoreless innings in AAA with 2 Walks and 9Ks.
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
On that note, Gary Glover is a STEAMING PILE OF SHIT.
>> Anonymous
>>101272
low walks are good. only 9 ks in 20 innings is a bit worrisome, though - that's like 4 strikeouts per nine, very weak for a reliever...
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
>>101279
Has a high GB rate, that makes up for it.
>> Anonymous
>>101281
true. you prefer that in starters, usually, though. gb pitchers tend to give up more hits than fb pitchers (admittedly, less HRs).

either way, if the guy's been that impossible to score on in triple a, he probably deserves at least a look in the majors, especially with niemann stinking up the joint the way he has (also, i'm surprised you're okay with reyes - isn't his era like 9?).
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
>>101289
Well, he was fairly successful last year in the majors, but was beat out in ST.

8.44, but in 5.1 IP, he won't be that bad all year.
>> Anonymous
>>101289
... oh, oops, niemann's no longer on the major league roster, is he? hah, i r smrt. maybe send hammel down? i think you're being a bit hard on glover, monday was the first day he had given up a run since april 8th...
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
>>101296
Yeah, but his Defense has been bailing him out WAY too much. WHIP of 1.457.
>> Anonymous
>>101297
hrm. good point - haven't really been following al east too much (i'm an nl west guy, so the al east in general is anathema to my being, thank you yanks/sox eastern sports programming network - nothing against the rays). still, fielding-independent era is around 4.5, not horrific (just not very good).

but, uhh, are we talking about grant balfour? he's got 25 ks in 17 innings, though he sucked royally last year. or is there another balfour in AAA?
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
>>101305
Holy fuck, I must have misread his K rates. And he didn't suck last year, he was just a victim of you worst in the last 50 years Defense.
>> Anonymous
>>101309
fair enough. well, with those strikeout numbers, you'd figure he'll get a look sooner or later. beware though, it's not often guys figure 'it' out at age 31.

hope he works out for you, though. i'd love to see the rays win the division.
>> TheLonelyRayFan !!29cu3WeR6CU
>>101312
We won't. Unless Edwin jackson and Sonny keep it up.

James Shields is fucking amazing by the way, been a while since I've mentioned that.
>> Anonymous
>>101314
sonny, not sure about. jackson, though - i'm a dodgers guy, he was the #1 pitching prospect a while back. got jerked around for a while - i wouldn't be terribly surprised if he ends up being a viable pitcher for you guys. remember, he's still only 24.

The problem with E-Jax is he lets way too many people on base, and then just relies on his FB. This year he's using his Slider more, so that's a good sign.
