What does SP Consider more of an epic failure?

18-1 or 2004 ALCS?
>> Anonymous
18-1

by far
>> Anonymous
18-1 is THE epic fail. Its the fail by which all other fail should be measured.
>> Anonymous
18-1 and the 2004 ALCS holds absolutley NOTHING on 4 straight Super Bowl losses from the Buffalo Bills.

A botched game winner is an amazing fucking failure in itself. 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses? Even worse. If /sp/ was around in 1994, we'd all be laughing at the Bills and mocking "0-4".

The Bills were not 18-0 going into it, and billed (no pun intended) as the greatest team ever. imo 18-1 is the fail to end all epic fail. 18-1 will forever be hilarious.

In our minds at least. When we're all old senile men, never stop pestering your grandkids about 18-1. Ever.

OP here, i agree, and as I think about it how about the Buc's 26 Game loosing streak? (we're actually very proud of that In Tampa.)
>> Anonymous
Losing one game, especially a Super Bowl, holds nothing on losing 4 series-clinching games in a row.

The difference is that there was a much longer lead-up to 18-1, so everyone anticipated it more.

Time and their Super Bowl victory seems to have buried that epic failure.
>> Anonymous
>>171158
that's the reality of it. 18-1 is just hyped because of the full season of buildup (i think i heard undefeated first mentioned on espn after like game 3). But really losing one game is not that much of a failure even for a team that was otherwise undefeated. ALCS '04 is imo a much bigger failure.

If you're proud of being the shittiest team ever you've never been a fan

GTFO the bandwagon kid

You're just fucking jealous your team doesn't suck as much as mine does.

I disagree, life is good as in Patsland.

Nobody outside of /sp/ has the balls to say our rings have asterisks on them, and nobody inside /sp/ can be taken seriously.

18-1=17.

so... you're proud of the fact that the mainstream media faggots ballwash your team due to being based in new england?

and then you wonder why people hate NE-based teams. astonishing.
>> Anonymous
>>171270
Like anyone can control that. Might as well call everyone in Denver faggots because of what Woody Paige says.

And Spygate wasn't a ballwashing, it was poorly understood and reported bullshit. I wouldn't call what the media does with the Pats (or the 'Boys or Eagles) ballwashing as sensationalizing, good or bad.

You strike me as the kind of guy who thinks Brett Favre is a shitty quarterback, just because Madden and the rest of the media has a man-crush on him.
>> Anonymous
>>171286
brett farve until circa 2004 was not a shitty quarterback. brett farve 2005-2006 was really, really bad. brett farve 2007 was good again. let's not pretend, though, that he got off WAY more easily than almost any other qb would have, in those 2 years he was horrible.

also, everybody in denver are faggots because woody paige really IS that bad.

and yes, i hate the patriots because of their massive overexposure. is it their fault? maybe not. is it john mellencamp's fault that his shitty-ass "THIS IS OUR COUNTRY" ad was played every 30 seconds? probably not, but i'll bet you hate his ass for it anyway.
>> Anonymous
Actually I hate Mellencamp because he went by Cougar at some point...
>> RAY ALLEN !!+K0Mvqp/bEq
>>171286
Agreed.

Also I don't think Favre is shitty, it's just that he's way over hyped and people seem to forget all of his playoff chokes and terrible interceptions in favor of his occasional miraculous plays.

Nah, I just hate the media and Chevy.

18-1 is practically the new way of saying epic fail. The Bills' 4 straight doesn't come close, Tampa's winless streak doesn't come close, and the '04 ALCS doesn't come close. 18-1 is on its own tier high above everything else.
>> Anonymous
>>171350
Maybe if the Pats went 18-1 4 straight times...
>> Anonymous
2004 was a terrible epic failure, losing from 3-0 was horrible, all 20 million of us here in New York bawwwed for weeks

I think it might be a little worse than 18-1, but it was much longer ago so the feeling has worn off (Yankeefag btw)

18-1 is seen as the bigger failure because of outside circumstances. The 2007 Patriots were a MUCH more hated team than the 2004 Yankees due to (a) media exposure and (b) cheating allegations.

From a strictly unbiased, sports-only viewpoint, the 2004 ALCS was the bigger choke. It just didn't have nearly the social ramifications that 18-1 did.
