Synchronized swimming and trampoline fill otherwise empty time-slots at existing facilities employed for other, higher-drawing events, whereas baseball and softball require a dedicated venue. That's a HUGE difference.
Furthermore, there is the argument that the Olympics are supposed to be represent the best in the world. That was the justification (the non-financial one, at any rate) for opening the games to professionals. It is undoubtedly true for synchronized swimming and trampoline (whether anyone CARES or not is another matter), but undoubtedly FALSE for baseball.
