WELCOME TO BOSTON.
>> Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
8:50pm: Will Carroll believes the Commissioner's Office has been informed of a Red Sox-Pirates-Marlins trade even though the teams haven't agreed on the prospects. Here's how he sees it:

Marlins get Manny Ramirez, one prospect (BOS), and cash (likely Ramirez’s remaining salary)
Pirates get Jeremy Hermida and three prospects (two FLO, one BOS)
Red Sox get Jason Bay and John Grabow

Hey, maybe it WILL happen. Bay is a hell of a player, Sox fags.

If I were a Soxfag I'd rather have Bay right now to be honest. He's alot cheaper, alot younger and he doesn't bitch and complain. Not to mention....he can field unlike Manny.
>> Anonymous
but does he slap high-five midplay?

Even if the Bay deal doesn't get done, the Marlins would give us Jeremy Hermida. Which isn't bad....not bad in the least. Hermida has great promise and is only 24 years old, he'd rake in Fenway with his swing.

I just want Manny gone, bottom line.

YES, I mean it not going to make a different in the standing but I won't have to see him for along time!!!!!
>> Anonymous
Yeah but hes a bitch in the clutch.
.209 with RISP and a .219 with RISP w/ 2 out.
Manny on the other hand .313 with RISP and a .261 with RISP w 2 out.

Just go compare their situational stats. Manny has got him beat in just about every category.

Eat more of what ESPN tells you to, bandwagon soxfag. Manny has been a hell of an awesome player, regardless of anything else.

And he has excellent numbers against the Yankees; without him, the Sox will return to the 86 years of being raped by the Yankees.

A-rod has the most career home runs against the Angels. Right in front of the Toronto Blow-Jays
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0

The Pirates aren't being screwed because they don't play to win.

They play to maximize profits. They love to reduce that payroll.

MLB is fucking broken.

>>225874
Yeah, its not like he spent 2/3 of his career in the same division as the Angels or anything.

Manny has been a douchebag for years. Remember when they put him on waivers way back in '03?

I won't be happy to see him go, but season after season of "will he? won't he?" around the trade deadline, and his rampant dickery this season make me think he should be gone.

I'm excited about this Bay character. Looks to be another Manny, with less loss of brain cells.

I think everyone wins in this deal.

Sox: Jason Bay and John Grabow.

Marlins: Manny Ramirez and Hunter Jones.

Pirates: Jeremy Hermida, Ryan Tucker and two prospects from Florida.
>> PhilKenSebben !qNgkjhpu0A
>>225887

I'd be concerned about him not adjusting to a new league quickly, like he'd slump for a while after they get him. And he will never hit for as much power as Manny.

Yeah, its not like he spent 2/3 of his career in the same division as the Angels or anything.

What the hell does that matter. If your constantly hitting off the team what difference does it make how long you been there.
>> Anonymous
It looks like Manny is as good as gone.

The Red Sox are either getting Jason Bay or Jeremy Hermida, depending if the Pirates are in or not.

>>225900

because he got a ton of ABs against the angels so logically he should also have a shit ton of homers
>> Anonymous
>>because he got a ton of ABs against the angels so logically he should also have a shit ton of homers
Ok you want to play that card. Alex has 645 AB's against BOS. Has a .285 and only 39homers. So your logic is failing. More AB's does not equate to more home runs.

10:30 pm…According to Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus, the deal, which has been sent to the Commisioner’s Office, will send Manny Ramirez and cash to the Marlins, who will send Jeremy Hermida to the Pirates, who will send Jason Bay and John Grabow to the Red Sox, while the Pirates will get one prospect from Boston and two prospects from Florida.
>> Anonymous
hope the pirates opt out of this trade. not that i want grabow to stay on the team, but losing another outfielder just screams retardedness.

I swore if this shit continued for one more season, I was choosing a new team to root for. The pirates haven't had a winning season since I was 11. Getting to be old when you know the same shit is gonna keep coming year after year with the shit deals they're making.
>> Anonymous
>>225810
This
>> Anonymous
>>225983
You'd be getting Jeremy Hermida, that's nothing to complain about.
>> Anonymous
>>225987
I suppose. I mean, looking at his stats he seems better than Bay, but Bay also had a 2 year slump when his production was just awful. He's been out of that, and has done his share this season.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't mad with the Nady deal, because I knew it was coming sicne the start of this season. Nady was too good to be true for the Pirates, and too many teams saw a spot in their starting lineup for him. The deal we got for him was on the shitty side of things, making it feel like a Littlefield trade. But that's what happens when you deal for prospects. Who knows, they could all pan out and the Pirates could look like the smart guys.

I've been saying that for 15 years though. Not once has it been true in that time. Every deal that was made was bad. They never got what they should have for players. They waited til players had gone into a slump to trade them, and got nothing for them, while usually footing some of the salary.

So, don't be surprised when Pittsburgh fans start questioning what the front office is doing. We've seen this shit before. And it looks like some of the top prospects won't be included in this deal, meaning the Pirates are trading a GOOD left fielder for a SHOULD BE GOOD outfielder, almost straight up, while Grabow is being traded for lower tier prospects.

I guess the deal is better on paper than the Nady/Marte trade, but I'm sick of losing players. I'm sick of losing good players for shit prospects. Why can't we trade some goddamn prospects that never pan out for some decent players?

I'm way too into this shit, I need a new damn team, and I can just forget about the fucking Pirates, and let them bury themselves.
>> Anonymous
>>225998
Really, don't give up on the Pirates if this trade goes down like the reports say, you'll have a team in a couple of years that will be in the running for the division.

-Doumit
-Tabata
-McLouth
-Snell
-McCutchen
-Alvarez
-Maholm
-Ohlendorf
-Tucker

The Pirates sooner or later will be a built team, much like the Rays are now.

So is this trade actually happening?

Nobody has confirmed it yet.
>> Anonymous
>>226014
I'm just wondering how long it's going to take. There are a lot of good players already in the system, it's a big problem of the starting pitching. The end of each season looks like it may translate into a good beginning, what with the pitching finally working the right way.

Then a new season starts, and the pitchers we had starting with a 2.00 ERA for the final 2 months of the season start giving up 6 runs in the first every game they start.

I honestly think a trade should be considered to get a VETERAN pitcher on the staff. Veteran batters have seemed to help, but they think an all young rotation is the way to go?

I guess I wouldn't be a Pittsburgh fan unless I was complaining nonstop though.
>> Anonymous
>>226014

>> Anonymous
>>226089
4pm Eastern is the trade deadline, more than enough time to work a deal out if they've got this much of it already done. My question is still if Manny has waived the rights and is agreeing to be traded. I know he said he MAY waive it if there were trade offers, but those are words.

Much different from him signing the form saying he waives any rights to say no to a trade.
