Anyone like real racing? Who is your favorite driver. Mine plowed into a wall and severed his brain stem. I like his son now.

I used to like NASCAR exclusively. Still love it, but I've gotten into other stuff now.

My favorite NASCAR racers are Juan Montoya and Dale Jr.

NHRA, John and Ashley Force.
IRL, Helio Castroneves and Danica Patrick
F-1, Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikonnen

88 in 08 GO DALE GO
I also like Reed Sorencen, Micheal Waltrip, Casey Mears and Mark Martin.

I despise the Busch brothers. Especially Kyle. WTF was he doing blocking 30 laps into the 500 sunday? Seriously WTF?

My NASCAR hopes for each race are meager.

Tony Stewart (and Jr) to do well, and Gordon to fail miserably. I was so disappointed in 20 at the 500.

I'm really burnt out on NHRA. My dad works at Gainesville Raceway, and I went to the Gatornationals and every other race for 12 years. The guys I like aren't racing anymore, I don't think.

Also, IMO the best NASCAR racing around is the Truck Series.

Anyone else with me?

Fuck yes. This year's Truck race at Daytona would've been legendary had Kyle Busch not taken the whole field out on lap 20.

Anyway, my favorite? That would be David Reutimann or Dave Blaney (I waver between them).

BTW, the Nationwide series is fucked beyond all belief. Who's bright idea was it to open the floodgates for Cup drivers to invade the series and win 33/35 races the last two seasons? Hopefully it gets better when Joey Lagano comes along.

F1/F3000 is a fucking parade. gb2 /wine&cheese/, Eurofag.

Speaking of which, A1GP is the best racing series out there, or so I've heard.

When I was a kid my favorite was Davey Allison.

I have no favorite now. I like most of the drivers. I do however have favorites in other racing series.

F1: Kimi and Hamilton
IRL: Big nose, Hello and pretty boy. Hornish was a favorite till he went to NASCAR. Enjoy your fail, Sam. Nice run in Daytona, though.
ChampCar: Doornob and Power

I will also watch pretty much any racing I come across. Sprinters, Offroad, Rally, ect.

The story of the Allison family ever since 1988 is just really fucking depressing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoURQkLpzHQ

First Bobby gets really fucked up in a crash at Pocono and suffers amnesia, then in 92, Clifford dies after crashing in Grand National practice at Michigan (And he had a great car, supposedly. His last words were ''We're gonna get 'em, Dad.''), and then Davey, pretty much on top of NASCAR at that point, crashes his helicopter and dies a day later. It's a shame Davey never won a championship, but it was better for Alan Kulwicki to win the 1992 championship, anyway.

Speaking of which, Kulwicki's story is absolutely touching.

Too bad there is no F3000 anymore.
A1GP is fairly decent.

For drivers, I've gotta go with Raikkonen, Hamilton, and Sato.

I also watch AOW, GP2, A1GP when I can and I try to download all the DTM races.

Driving is a sport?

It's actually much more complex than driving in circles. You find this out as you go.

Driving racecars involves a ton of G-Forces, which are constantly being put on the driver, especially in the event of an incident. In terms of full-bodied stock cars, the temperatures inside the cars reach well up to 100-120 degrees. And what if your power steering fails? Then you've got to work your arms to the fullest, and constantly (Just ask Ryan Newman after a race at Dover in 2003...Which he won BTW). And racing doesn't just require good physical condition, your reaction times must be spot on 100% of the time.

tl;dr: Yes, it's a sport.

Yes, actually, the track is an oval.

Except, Sears Point (Infineon for NASCAR newfags) and Watkins Glen are road courses.

Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson.

Dale Jr sucks. Now who will he blame when he wrecks or his car blows up? And the fuckin cheater tried to modify his spoiler before the Busch race. Dale Jr can go have buttsecks with Tony Stewart.

Just Driving? No, not a sport.
Hot lapping a race track? Yes, that is a sport.

That's more of Hendrick than anyone. I wish his ass died of leukemia back in the late 90s.

So, it's hot. Is the winner based on who can endure turning in the heat the best?

You looked over the stuff about G-Forces, didn't you? The amount of G-Forces are the main thing that makes racing a sport.

There is still a lot of skill involved in Super Speedway racing. Any of us can go fast there, sure, but the trained guys will be much faster. It's all about when and how you load the tires mid corner, so as to not lose speed.

Continuing discussions on the trucks, I think this is the one clip that defines the Truck Series.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=tBQuxw-Nfj0

There can't be anything more badass in racing anywhere.

Also, yeah, the Nationwide series sucks now. It's pretty much ruined, although several years ago around 2000 it had racing the quality of what the Truck Series has now.
