I'm a Boston fan and I wish he wasn't gone. He's fucking tearing it up out in LA though, hitting about .400.

I don't know. Everyone in boston was saying how the team would be better with Manny gone even though Bay isn't as good as him. I think I was the only person who realized the team would be worse off.
>> Anonymous
I dunno, Bay's been doing pretty sweet. Regardless of how good a player he is, his ego was hurting the team as a whole.

Overrated piece of shit.

Bayes been here 2 months and he has already done more for us then Manny ever did.
>> Anonymous
Soxfag here. Manny did great things for this team the whole time he was here, but in the end, you had to know this was going to happen. I'm glad to see he is doing well, and glad to see the Sox are doing just fine without him. We're something like 27-13 since trading him away.
>> Anonymous
Manny is gonna be the NL MVP. Bank on it, fags.
>> Anonymous
>>341305
Ummmm no. If C.C doesn't have a chance at the Cy Young, Manny isn't even close.
>> Anonymous
As a Sox fan, I loved him when he was here and actually playing for us.

However, before the trade, he'd started taking questionable days off, wouldn't hustle on the basepaths, and became more and more of a distraction to the team.

Are the Sox going to miss his bat? Of course. Who wouldn't? But they're not going to miss the baggage that came along with it, and the clubhouse chemistry with Bay has got to be helping them in this stretch run, since they just tied up the Rays tonight, and the offense looked pretty good even without #24 right there in the middle of it.

>> Anonymous
As a Soxfag, I can't in good conscious be angry with him. I stood beside him after all the incredibly stupid shit he did in Boston and bought his ridiculous MBM excuse. So I'd be a hypocrite to be butthurt about him being Manny and doing something expected of a jackoff. Who can hit.

>>341532
Manny has to be the number 1 guy in history to fuck around all year and still put up MVP type numbers every year.
>> Anonymous
Yankeefag here, I wouldn't mind Manny on the team, but is it really likely?

Manny will be expensive, and I know Hank's going to spend a lot of money on pitchers like Sabathia and Burnett, and we already have a crowded outfield and a full time DH in Matsui.

Where does Manny fit in?
>> Anonymous
>>341561

Not to mention that the Yankees outfielders are WAY better defensively than Ramirez.

His offensive boost would be offset by the number of runs he'd give up by plays he didn't make.
>> Anonymous
>>341561
Fellow Yankfag here. I would think they are not bringing back Abreu, so it could be Manny in left, ??? in center and Nady in right with Matsui at DH. Thats how I figure it at least.
>> Anonymous
>>341561
Cont.

I suppose it would work if Damon or Matsui moved to first base. They have said that they are willing to do so, and with Giambi obviously gone next year it COULD happen.
>> Anonymous
>>341570
That leaves Center open for Melky, Gardener, or Damon.

Damon sucks at center now but his offense is great.
Melky and Gardener are good fielders, but they can't hit for their lives.
>> Anonymous
>>341577
>>341573
>>341570

So maybe something like

C - Posada
1B - Damon
2B - Cano
SS - Jeter
3B - Rodriguez
LF - Ramirez
CF - Cabrera
RF - Nady
DH - Matsui?
>> Anonymous
>>341583
That's how it would look, but that's considering they let Abreu walk.
>> Anonymous
>>341593

If they don't, they can have him in RF and use Nady as a 4th outfielder/defensive replacement for Manny.

But that would be a pretty good-looking lineup. But if only they could get their pitching woes fixed up. I think they have a good shot at Burnett, but I think Sabathia likes the National League. I expect to see him in a Dodgers uni next season.

And this is all coming from a Soxfag.
>> Anonymous
>>341583
The line-up would look like this:

1)Damon
2)Jeter
3)A-Rod
4)Manny
5)Matsui
6)Nady
7)Cano
8)Posada
9)Who ever plays 1B next year

In defense of my fellows, though, while we may seem crass and rude a lot of the time, it's hard to find a city that knows and loves baseball more than Boston. Despite all the chants of "O-VER-RAT-ED" whenever he steps to the plate, we know in our hearts that Derek Jeter gives his heart and soul every game, and has been a damn good player for more than a decade.

Which is why I am so amazingly stoked that the Sox now have a player like that in Dustin Pedroia. Just watch, in 10 years this kid is going to have numbers close to if not better than Jeter's.

And while I wouldn't openly root for your boys either, it always makes it more fun when the Yankees are in the thick of it up there with the Sox. When the Rays came out playing good baseball this spring, I was looking forward to a 3-way dogfight the whole season.

Maybe next year the AL East will be the best division in baseball, with the Sox and Rays keeping their form from this year, the Yankees returning to their usual form, and the Blue Jays keeping up their tremendous late-season play.

AL East is the best division in baseball. We need a lot of moves to keep up with the sox and rays next season. October without the Yanks seems lame to me but then again im a yanksfag.

Bostonfag here.

I liked Manny. All his stupid shit made me shake my head, but the man had a bat like very few other. He's a sure fire first ballot hall of famer, and very few other hitters instilled fear in a pitcher like Manny did.

HOWEVER

When you do what he did and act up in the clubhouse and take a strikeout to send a message to management, you do have to go, which is what's pretty fucked up. You should sign for the money, play for the money, and love every second of it. He was in a city where the fans worshiped him, a place where he'd won world series titles, and yet that somehow became not enough. It's still kinda weird to go to Fenway and look out and just think "Shit. That's not Manny out there in left".

I don't think he'll go to NY though. At least not NYY. With the money the Yankees are going to give to Sabathia and their already staggering payroll, they'd be hard pressed to pay for him.

I think he'll be either a Met or stick around in LA.
>> Anonymous
>>341652
You are supposed to hope he tears up his arm and has to get Tommy John, and thus his value goes down the toilet before he becomes a free agent this year, and not hope his team sucks.

The Yankees have infinity dollars so that don't matter.

But we don't really have a place for him on the team, plus I don't think we have enough room in our prima donna cap with A-Rod in there already
