Also the Houston game where the Eagles let them catch the passes and then knocked the shit out of their WRs. That may have been '91 though, I don't remember.

86 Giants. Bellichick pulling the strings, Parcells motivating, LT and the gang knocking Joe Montana into an unconscious, twitching heap in the NFC Championship game.

Give Parcells all the credit in the WORLD for encouraging LT to rush the passer. He turned what was a shortcoming for LT into a strength and changed the way defense was played since then.

LT had 16 sacks in his last year of college.

I think it's generally accepted that the way LT played the OLB position changed the game, especially from a pass blocking stand point, I'm sure Joe Gibbs would agree. I think Parcells gets some of that credit because he could have tried to bend LT into the normal "read and react" behavior of that position at the time. Instead he gave LT the green light to "when in doubt go for the passer." When I said he turned what could have been a weakness into a strength, I meant that LT, from his own lips, wasn't the greatest at reading the offense. So if he was in doubt for what to do, he would just go after the QB. Since then we see linebackers used more often in a more aggressive attacking role.

the 4-6 revolutionized the way defense was played in the NFL

to this day, more teams put more pressure on the quarterback because of how successful the 4-6 was in Chicago and Philadelphia
