How can you be Cy Young if you can't beat one of the best teams in the league?

He beat Tampa

Twice.

Yeah, but he couldn't beat Boston. How weak.

Isn't Tampa better than Boston?
>> Anonymous
Boston has a better offense over the Rays.

Boston is a better team than the Rays as well. They just aren't as "lucky." Kind of like Cliff Lee, Rays are a fluke.

Not really, having the 2nd lowest payroll in the league and winning a division that has the Yankees and the Red Sox who have 2 of the highest payrolls in the league is a result of good management.

The Rays this year was based on pitching and defense, not offense.

The Rays still don't have much of an offense this year, especially compared to the Red Sox. Last time I saw a baseball game, a pitcher pitches to the other teams offense, he does not have to worry about the Rays defense.

Oh ho ho, nice try my little troll.

I like how the Red Sox had that huge celebration this year, with all that champagne and beer spraying everywhere. I mean hey, it's nice to get a wild card spot in the playoffs right? Totally worth going crazy over...

especially when you are the defending World Series champions.

>>362232
Oh, so they were celebrating winning the world series last year, not the fact they barely made it into the playoffs...

Boston is 2nd in Runs per game, The Rays is 9th. How is that trolling? Its harder to pitch to the Red Sox than it is to the Rays.

after all the injuries, starting to fall apart, and losing manny?

yeah, it was worth it.

>>362245
Yet they still lost more games... What is going on here?

Oh yeah, red sox pitching is weaker than the rays, regardless of how many runs they can put on the board, they still give up more. Check the ERA stats, you'll be amazed.

Pro-tip: Red Sox are objectively the best team in the AL.

Instead of looking at just win/loss, look at the other numbers. Or do you judge the best pitcher by win/loss as well? Which would be Daisuke Matsuzaka by the way.

Barely make it into the playoffs? Sorry trolls, this isn't the NFL or the NBA where everyone and their moms make the playoffs.

They were almost caught by the BLUE JAYS. I think that's considered "barely" making it.

Troll because you are retarded if you think having good offense is the only thing that matters in baseball. If that was the case, the Detroit Tigers would be undefeated, but no, pitching and defense is just as, if not more important.

Rays have given up 654 runs. Red Sox have given up 666.

Run differential: Rays +105, Red Sox +165.
for lols: Angels +76, Blue Jays +93

Too bad a better "run differential" is called WINS.

WIN/LOSS IS ALL THAT MATTERZ dderp

DIESKAY MATSUZAKI is the best pitcher in baseball for his 18-2 record!

Win/loss only doesn't matter to you when your team doesn't have the most.
