>Go look up Sven Ottke's record on boxrec
Alright, you've tempted me back. Some of those decisions Ottke got were a fucking joke, I'm not surprised he never wanted to fight outside of Germany. If I wanted to watch somebody run around not throwing punches for half an hour I'd watch the women's 10k. It would be about as entertaining as an Ottke fight.
I presume you bring it up to say that the judges aren't always right (either that or you assumed I had never heard of Ottke, which I'll choose to ignore), and of course you are right. Some of them are so obviously on the take it isn't even funny (Lewis-Holyfield went past even that point). Decisions like that are a bit different than what we're seeing in this fight, though. It's not like all the fans saw it one way, and the judges fucked the fans and the real winner over - everybody, including Jones, saw it as a pretty easy Calzaghe win. Judging ain't perfect, but there really can't be any complaints about the integrity of tonight's decision when you see the almost unanimous agreement it has been received with.
Maybe you don't agree with the way fights are scored, but that's by-the-by. That's the way they have consistently been scored for Jones' entire professional career, and he went into that fight knowing that this "old-school" method you are talking about doesn't score with judges. If you think it should, that's another discussion, but you, me, and everybody else watching the fight has to deal with reality, not our own fantasies of how boxing should be scored.
