Okay I never understood this. How is that some sports like archery, weightlifting, swimming, track events, etc. can have the same person or group playing several events for multiple medals. On the other hand an event like basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. You only get one gold yet you could be just as good of an athlete...only no additional opportunities. Plus those other sports usually require more time and energy to get results.

America is repsonsible for 95% of track medals, I watched the 100m final tonight and besides the jamaicans every other athlete was from from island in the middle of fucking nowhere like netherland antellies and shit. AND GUESS WHAT they all went to college and trained in America. This will be repeated throughout the track portion, so 95% of track medals are by proxy Americas.

oh btw I'd say 75% of the total medals won in these games are by proxy Americas, these shithole cunt athletes come to America to train 11 months out of the year then wear another countries flag because they're not good enough to be a REAL American athlete.

The mere fact that, given the same quality in training, foreigners kick America's ass when it comes to sports only further proves America's failure at these Olympics.

Americans get to train at top of the line facilities for the majority of their lives, while some poor chick spent half his life dragging around a wheel barrow before he got proper training but somehow still kicks the American's ass.

Wow think how shitty Americans would be without their top of the line training and facilities.

hate to break it to you but nearly every chinese athlete you see in the olympics was built for it since the age of 3. These athletes have been training at top of the line facilities in China, the difference is China keeps their facilities for themselves.

None of the chinese athletes has probably touched a wheelbarrow in their life, all they do is train 16 hours a day to achieve their one moment of greatness, here in America our athletes have choices, they don't need to train 16 hours a day they do it because THEY want to not the government.

No they don't.

Normally they're selected at around 10 years of age on average.

That's when the intensive training begins, which is about the same age as any top of the line Olympians would have to start to become a gold medalist.

The government doesn't go around hospitals and randomly steel babies from people to make then into robotic gold medal producing machines like the western medals says.

It's not China's fault that Americans just don't work as hard as they do.
>> Anonymous
>>263055
Exactly. After the olympics those Chink athletes are thrown away and are worthless to the country as they have nothing left to offer. The American (and most of the world) have athletes that are actually in schools during training and go off into Universities (or are already in it) to actually have a life once they are done with sports.

Chinese athletes go to school as well as train. It's just that training is primary. Most of them actually go on to a sports college where their life is pretty much set if they make it.

O hi /sp/, sounds like we need some logicks here.

Why the US is the sports capital of the world:

-Most non-American Olympic medalists have trained, attended university, or currently reside within the US
-The US has the higher sports viewership per capita, and the most advertising revenue
-The US absolutely destroys the rest of the world in lifetime medal counts

Why the Euros complain:

-Every sport to come out of Europe has been perfected by another country, such as Cricket (lol Aussies > Britfags), Soccer (ohi Brazil), and Track & Field (ohi Africa and Caribbean)
-Europe has been slowly losing international influence and prestige since the early 20th Century
-Europe fucked up the entire world with its imperialism, but gets owned by its former bitches, such as the US, China, Australia, Africa, and South America

You can rank by gold medals, sure.

What most of you seem to be doing, however, is comparing country to country. You're trying to decide which one is better than another. If you want to decide that then just looking at golds isn't really sufficient. While one country may be behind another in golds, they may have athletes in other events that are better and place further ahead. So country vs country is all about athletes vs athletes. Hence, you cannot only focus on golds, but overall finishes by all those competing.
>> Anonymous
>>263367

I merely stated the two ways the official Beijing Olympics website sorts their rankings. Instead, you come up with a completely redundant Medals-Per-Capita ranking in order to prove a point.
