Well he doesn't like chinks: Daley said afterwards: “I’m so glad Matt won, I’m glad that a non-Chinese person won."

Wait, why are people freaking out about the age of the Chinese gymnasts, when he is only 14? HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?
>> Anonymous
>>290923

There is no physical advantage for a 14-year-old male diver compared to an adult diver. There is a significant advantage for a 14-year-old female gymnast over a (biologically) adult female gymnast.

tl;dr: men don't have tits.

>>290923
Oh I don't know, maybe because they are COMPLETELY SEPARATE SPORTS!?

Rules are 14 for diving, 16 for gymnastics
>> Anonymous
>>290933
The taller you are the more your moment of rotation. So yes, younger is better.
>> Anonymous
>>290923
Because 14 year-olds are allowed to compete in the events he's competing in. People are freaking out because 14 year-olds AREN'T allowed to compete in gymnastics events and the Chinese government is participating in fraud by creating legal documents falsifying their ages and destroying all existing documented evidence of their true age, which is fucking insulting.
>> Anonymous
>>290911
that doesn't make sense.

maybe he is happy to see somebody succeed in a chink dominated sport--which might give him hope?

so, does liking shota = gay?

He's like Shawn Johnson for gay people.

Yeah, you can openly "cheat" in diving. your allowed to use the super ultra flexible sub 16yo
>> Anonymous
>>291142
But it doesnt even matter, considering he placed like 8th or 7th overall.
>> Anonymous
>>291142
oh, so cheating is only bad when you win
>> Anonymous
>>291202
14 is the set age for diving. So he isnt cheating at all.

16 is the set age for gymnastics, so those chinese gymnasts are.
>> Sneak !!+y8MDiWrdyT
He did he do, anyway?
>> Anonymous
>>291241
He didnt do terribly. He actually placed quite high, he just didnt get a medal.

But Michael Phelps got 5th in his race and now look how he's doing. It's pretty obvious that this kid has the potential to come back and own the Chinese in the next olympics.
>> Sneak !!+y8MDiWrdyT

He'll be playing in his home country too.

FUCK THEN WHAT'S ALL THIS SHIT ABOUT "OMG 14 YEAR OLD CHINESE GYMNASTS"?

RACIST HYPOCRITES
>> Anonymous
>>291434
Because you have to be fucking sixteen years of age to compete in gymnastics.Three of the chinese gymnasts were 14 and 15 at best.

Different age restrictions for different sports!

Gymnastics =/= Diving, you dumb fuck.
>> Anonymous
>>291178

I think you missed the point that 14yo having an advantage in gymnastics is bullshit because they are allowed in diving when you do similar style of spins, twists, flips and shit.
>> Anonymous
>>291641
It's not the thing about the advantage, it's that when those young girls start training and competing at such a young age it tears their body to shreds
>> Anonymous
>>291667
Tell that to everyone going on about under 15/16s having magical flexibility
>> Anonymous
>>291667
Once again, barring people from competitions won't stop them from doing the harmful training that the age requirement is supposed to prevent. Those rules should've gone to coaches, not the competitions.

>The idea that these gymnasts are at their peak in their teen years reflects trends as whimsical as those dictating hemlines. In the past, top Olympic female gymnasts were in their 20s, occasionally even their 30s, but younger gymnasts came into vogue in 1972, when Olga Korbut of the Soviet Union won three gold medals and a silver medal at age 16.

>The trend continued when 14-year-old Nadia Comaneci of Romania won a gold medal in 1976.

>Coaches, judges and television audiences now favor pixielike gymnasts. "The routines have changed to accommodate them," said Dr. Ian R. Tofler, another author of the report who is director of child psychiatry at Children's Hospital in New Orleans and secretary of the International Society for Sports Psychiatry. "The Yurchenko vault requires gymnasts to be lightweight and agile, but it's the most dangerous event."

lol I love how the NY times Atlanta 96 logo was just a GIF of the Olympic rings stretched out in PS

Training to be an olympic gymnast is like training to be a Saudi Arabian camel jockey.
