There's an 18 hole playoff tomorrow between Tiger Woods and Rocco Whateverthefuckhislastnameis

It will be the most epic round of golf played this year.

18 hole playoff Monday to decide. AKA: Tiger.
>> Anonymous
>>162622
I think its more fortune than epic
Epic would have been him hitting the fairway and the green in two and ending with a birdy at best

Tiger got lucky on that green twice to even have a chance to win

Of course hes started three of the four days with a double bogey on the first hole so we'll see how he manages in the playoff

I agree. Tiger is amazing. I wish I could hit the ball just a hundreth of a percent as well as he does.

Fail sport is fail... the only fair way to decide this shit right now:

FUCK YEAH - PENALTY PUTTS!!!
>> Anonymous
>>162644
Calling Tiger lucky? Considering he has won on that course six times and is playing on a bum knee, Tiger would have blown away the field by the time he got on the back nine on Sunday.
>> Anonymous
>>162644
He hasn't played in 9 weeks, the birdie was every definition of epic

How long was the putt?

12 feet.

Even though it's kind of a hokey "Sport", Tiger Woods is the best athlete in the world by a fair margin.

I would say

purely on recent form.

How? The only way he can win is on clay.

As amazing as 18 was for Tiger, you still got to root for Rocco.

Fucking 158th in the World Rankings, with a legitimate shot to win the US Open tomorrow. Amazing story.

Plus Rocco talks with the gallery, he is always smiling, he has a great attitude, he loves the open, and to top it all off, he talks about Tiger Woods, his competitor and the greatest player in the World, as if he has an aura of brilliance around him. how can you not root for him?

Hasn't Rocco been in the running for the US Open or some other major before?

I barely follow golf but his name sounds familiar, in an underdog sort of way.

This is his 44th major.

>>162858
He has been around for a while and is in the twilight of his career. If you watched golf in the early 2000s then you would definitely know his name. He has been in contention many times, but has had a few poor sundays to close out potential major wins.

Rofl not even close.

You're right, Tiger Woods is nowhere close to them as far as being athletes. Tiger Woods is the best golfer of all time, but that doesn't make him the best athlete. Golf takes about as much athleticism as billiards, and I don't think anyone is going to say Allison Fisher is one of the greatest athletes of all time.

the 53 thousand people that showed up on FRIDAY the SECOND round beg to differ. I'd love to see that many people at Joe Lewis Arena for the stanley cup champs.... Oh wait, they can't even fill THAT thing.

People like golf, and people like the USGA stirring things up with the pairs. You can say nobody cares, but you just don't care. And for that, gtfo of the thread troll!

Tiger Woods is the only modern thing I like about golf.

I miss my metal-spikes, drivers not the size of watermelons, collared shirts, ping eye 2's, balata golf balls...
>> Anonymous
>>163302
>collared shirts
actually the US Open has a strict collared shirt enforcement policy.

Also, every sport goes through changes like this. Golf has definitely become a longer and more competitive game with bigger drivers and softer balls. And it really isn't the drivers that have changed golf nearly as much as the stellar fairway woods coming off the line. Course designers can make the holes longer than ever dreamed of before, which really opens up the field. Tiger hasn't won a major in more than a year now because of this openness in the field. You really get to see guys like Rocco, or Immelman, or Zach Johnson, or Padraig Harrington get a legitimate shot and win majors, whereas in the seventies, only Nicklaus or Snead, or Player, won.
