I've been a fan of the Hawks as long as I can remember, but what really got me loyal to them was when I was shaking hands with a Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkens when the Hawks were playing home games at Georgia Tech. I had high hopes when this season started "hey Hawks beat the Mavericks in their opener" next week things looked better then they beat the Suns then they dropped games to fucking New Jersey. By mid-season it just seemed like the Hawks were finding ways to lose games, seriously what the fuck they were dropping 10 point leads going into the 4th. Its just fucking depressing to watch the Hawks slide further, and further despite having all this talent. I'm still a fan of the Hawks, and always will be but damn its becoming embarrassing to say I'm a Hawks fan.

ITT: Teams you're overly loyal to

so painfully loyal to it hurts; followed them before, during, and after their run to the finals and ive been with them all the way through the rebuild; at least the future is bright

Going into last season, I really had myself convinced we had a decent chance to win the division if things went our way. At least it was a close race, right?

I always loved how crazy they were when I was a kid.

I meant in the next 10 years or more. Doesn't have to be this year, just win one before I die.

Pittsburgh Pirates.

Haven't made the playoffs since 92. Have not gone .500 since 92.

Sigh. How about just winning half your games this year?

Hell, a winning season would satisfy me. Fuck this constant 8-8, 7-9 bullshit.

OP here, after watching the Knicks game I was getting worried had a 15 point lead with 7 minutes on the clock and the score started to slip... but finished it anyways. Reminds me when I was watching the opener the introduced a guy who went to my high school, Mario West all the more reason to be faithful to this team.

One playoff series victory in five appearances since 1992.

Been a Kings fan since I first decided to get into basketball. From the lowly Jerry Reynolds and Gerry St. Jean days through golden age of the Adelman era and now into the 2nd "dark age". This season it seems that they suffer from the "play down to your opposition" syndrome, where they play awesome against the NBA elite, but stink it up against the NBA's worst. Future is looking pretty bright though, with a bunch of expiring contracts and a nice young nucleus of Martin, Garcia, Douby, Hawes and Udrih. Being in the Western Conference doesn't make it any easier, but I have a feeling they'll be back to being a perennial playoff team (as long as Petrie is in the front office that is). Are they ever going to be a contender like the 2001-2002 team was? Probably not, but I'll still be here cheering them on.

I was a fan of the Miami Heat ever since Wade came to town, and even if it makes me sad right now I am still a fan. They've won a championship, so it's nice. :D

At least you don't like the L.A Kings. Pity me.

You should have stopped being a Hawks fan after Motumbo left.
