If D'antoni can take the Knicks deep in the post-season this year with a complete overhauled roster, THEN we can put him in God Tier. Until then, he's at the door waiting to be let in.

it's crazy how Sam Mitchell goes from coach of the year to "Shit Tier"

Sam Mitchell.

D'antoni is SUPERGOD TIER if the knicks reach make the playoffs.
>> Anonymous
>>488580
I don't think he's doing poorly, if you watch the games he's getting fouls called on him that he shouldn't be, I'm not kidding.

12.3 PPG, .500 FG%, .475 3FG%, .962 FT%, 1.4 blocks, 4.6 RPG (17 in last 2 games). 9.1 rebounds per 48 minutes is atrocious, but if he's playing the 3 and can guard the 3, that doesn't matter.
>> Anonymous
Jackson - Rode MJ and Shaq's coat tails. Zen master my ass. This is coming from a huge Bulls fan.

D'Antoni - Run and Gun doesn't win rings. Who cares if the Knicks make the playoffs, too many teams in the NBA make the playoffs. They need to get to the Eastern Con Finals to even consider him as being a great coach.
>> Anonymous
>>488639
and it took kg, paul pierce, and ray allen to stop him from getting another one, which he will get sooner or later.

jackson is god tier, like it or not.
>> Anonymous
>>488639
Nah, it's fair to say that if D'Antoni takes THAT team to the play-offs, he's god tier. Either that or it's of Stern's doing.

Knicks won't win 20 games.

>>488653
So Jackson didn't win because he had to beat a championship quality team? You're just proving he rode MJ and Shaq's coat tails.

I guess red auerbach must suck dick too since he had a shitload of HoF's on his teams. To win a championship, you need a good team and a good coach. Yes that means Doc Rivers is a good coach, even if he seems like a total moron.

that isn't all of them though.

>God Tier: Mike "7 seconds off the shot clock or else", "no fucking defense" D'Antoni

>> Anonymous
>>488679
yeah, he's a real loser. when his team made a huge mid-season change and lost it's young big man for the season, jackson could only get them to the finals where it took 2 hall of famers and a decade long all-star to stop him.

he blows.

Why would people think he just got their on Jordan, Shaq and Kobe? Learn to basketball you fucking morons. The man's triangle offense is Godly.

Yeah, D'Antoni couldn't get to the finals with one of the best offensives ever assembled but he's ahead of a guy who won a championship with Chauncey Billups as his primary scoring option.

i think there should be an okay tier and thats where spoelstra should go. i mean its not his fault the heat have such an imcomplete team, he isnt the gm. same for a few of these chumps.

Any scrub of a coach could've led a team of Jordan/Pippen/Rodman or Kobe/Shaq to multiple championships. Triangle offense my ass

>>489062

>I hate that fucking hippie but he is a great coach.
no, he really isn't. Give those players to Jerry Sloan or Poppovich and their teams would win until those players reached 38

>>489175

Enough.

You don't know that. You can't prove that. Rings or GTFO
>> Anonymous
>>489194
of course I know it, Jackson had the best players of all time. Poppovich still managed to win 5 with just a first round draft pick and an assortment of nobodies and foreigners. Phil = Phail, he's the Robert Horry of coaches.

Except even Horry was at least clucth sometimes.

Scott Skiles is a pretty good coach. I mean he took a shit young Bulls team that started their season 0-9 to the third best record in the east a few years ago. I was pissed when the Bulls fired him.

Byron Scott needs to be god tier. He took the Nets to the finals two years in a row when they started Jason Collins and Lucious Harris.

Lucious. Harris.

Speaking of Phil being a useless coach, I lol'd when a broadcaster recently said something along the lines of "Yeah when the Lakers are struggling, most teams would call a timeout and regroup but Phil just makes them play through it and make them get out of the slump themselves"

..Yeah, that's not coaching at all. That's just ignoring your team/milking your star players for more than they're worth. And what happens as a result of this innovative (shitty) coaching? 131-92
>> Anonymous
>>489825
Byron fucking Scott, FUCK

man, I remember when he took the Hornets, one of the least talented teams in the NBA while they were in OKC, and made them into a competitive team. Players who sucked (Speedy Claxton, Aaron Williams, Linton Johnson) always seemed to play over their heads under him.

If I had to choose between having Scott or Chris Paul with the Thunder, I would choose Scott in a heartbeat. He is that good.
>> Anonymous
>>489856

Would you rather have a coach that pulls guys out *cough Mitchell * cough the instant they aren't doing well, or would you rather have a coach that lets the players learn by themselves? Phil is not the jesus of coaching, and just like every other coach he is not going to accomplish anything without any talent, but he knows how to guide his players to the right direction and is better than any other coach at implementing new players. Just look at how Artest is doing under Adelman or Brand under Cheeks.

People keep saying PJ doesn't coach, but if he doesn't coach, then it wouldn't be possible for their late 1st round picks in Turiaf/Farmar/Sasha to improve, and if any other team can make any use of Brian Cook I would give them a gold metal.

>>489801
Blame the players.

They're the ones that really dogged it and got him canned.
