T-Mobile finished their contract, West Brom couldn't find a good enough one before season, and so just went topless.

And Manchester United can drop the US Government any time they want.

Seems like they're just burning money tho, even if it's a shit sponsor only for a year, money's money, especially in this economic environment. Why be picky, especially for a shit squad like that... take what you can get.

..did West Ham ever find a new sponsor?

To be honest, the shirts look a lot better without a sponsors logo on them.

You would think that they'd at least swap the ad's place with the club's insignia or something. Certainly speaks to their priorities when even centuries-old club colours or NAMES can be changed by sponsors. There's even talk about doing this kind of shit in the NHL for goalie's uniforms.

I personally think that if a club is going to have a shirt sponsor, then they should be underneath the number on the back of the shirt.

That or none at all. The sponsor logos really shit up the shirts.

>>413571
that will never happen because you wouldnt really so the logo.

Bundesliga teams have sponsors on the back as well as front of their shirts.

Same goes for Portuguese teams... Looks out of place and worse than the standard sponsorship logos.

ITT: Why soccer fails.

Enjoy cheering your corporations.

Also, USA WON FIFA

there are some teams that have sponsors EVERYWHERE, like 4 on the front, 2 on the back, and 1 on the shorts

Euro hockey jerseys are even more ridiculous. They slap stickers all over the helmets, for gods sake.

well part of the reason for the shirt sponsor thing is that there are no commercials during matches (except halftime). So if you think about it, less advertising is done in soccer than a LOT of other sports. So ultimately the ads on shirts aren't a big deal at all.

Oh yeah, they're taking a big steaming shit on hundreds of years of club history, but THANK GOD THEY'RE NOT INTERRUPTING THE COMPLETE LACK OF ACTION ON THE FILD WITH 30 EXCRUCIATING SECONDS OF ADVERTISEMENTS.
>> Anonymous
>>414254

Hardly. Only the most obstinate fan would insist that a plain shirt is worth losing millions for. Besides, with the amount that money drives professional sport these days, most clubs can't afford NOT to have sponsors.
>> Anonymous
>>414254

how are they taking away from the clubs history? protip: kits change often year to year, be it color or design. Its been that way for hundreds of years..

And you'd rather watch advertisements as opposed to the sport? wow

>>414266
How about an empty field filled with billboards? Everyone can take their seats and stare at that for 90 minutes. It's just as exciting to watch as actual soccer and you can cram even more advertising in.

>protip: Soccer has absolutely no integrity whatsoever, and we're proud of it.

Aaaah, it all comes together...

With all the drinking and rioting soccer fans need to do in order to endure the game, they probably won't even notice the difference.

well if you're just going to be a failtroll then I won't even continue this arguement, because we can all see where this is going.

thanks again /sp/

>I have nothing to counter the argument that soccer is like watching advertised grass grow.
>> Anonymous
>>414314

there is no argument. please explain how Soccer has more advertising than NFL or MLB. How does 45 minutes of non-interrupted gameplay have more advertising than 3 minute commercials every 2 minutes. You can't

The baggies have never had a sponsor. West Ham's have gone bust.

Aston Villa, Barcelona both make losses on their current sponsorship deals. Barca have never had a profiting shirt sponsor... UNICEF is their first ever shirt sponsor.

Away and 3rd kit colours change often. Home kits? They'd be uproar. On a sort of side note, some City fans have said to me that United shouldn't have the dark blue (old) away, (current) 3rd/European strips but what they don't realise is that United won the 1968 final in all dark blue.

Moving club/name changes.. MK Dons? Didn't work pissed too many people off, had to give back all their history pre-re-branding to London.

The sad fact is that in todays market clubs can't afford not to have sponsors.

If the US actually played any sports with more than one or two pro leagues than they'd understand the situation better.
