So, BMX is now an olympic sport....I used to race BMX for about 10 years before I went to college. I have to ask /sp/ what they think about this?

I personally think it is the IOC trying to get the younger crowd into the olympics like they did with snowboarding in the winter olympics.

They need to quit making more sports. It's already hard to watch.

I spent a lot of money on BMX for a few months, then experienced an insane adolescent growthspurt that made me too tall even for 24".

That same year I took up tree hockey for my middle school and became team MVP based entirely on me being tall.

I really hope they don't bring a watered down version as they did with snowboard

you were to tall for cruisers?! damn. My dad really wanted me racing and I enjoyed traveling all over the country doing nationals. I used to race against Donny Robinson (Team USA) too. We were from the same home track and same age grp. I would love to see him win gold in the Olympics, but I don't think the event is large enough for the world theater.

tl;dr BMX is cool but not worldwide cool.

They would be more successful if they just dropped ancient boring ass shit like track and field.

God, I hate track&field.

Shot Put, Javelin, and Hammer Throw are fucking retarded. Nigger racing is still a decent sport though.

Is this a permanent addition? It used to be (may still be the case) that the host country could put choose a sport to be played for the one time that the Olympics were in their country. I seem to recall that South Korea chose bowling.

Javelin was cool before they changed the damn stick so it won't fly as far.

Fuck javelin. They're never going to break 100 anymore.
