Fuck, why didn't Canada run in and steal it? Now there's no chance in hell we're getting onto the podium.

Can'tada

Dammit, why did I never think of that?

It takes balls to refuse any other medal than gold.

Did you come up with that? Can'tada is brilliant.

This just in: Canada has a softball team that actually seems to be half-decent

If I ever became an olympic athlete and get a silver/bronze finish, I pledge to swing it around by the lanyard and break it against the podium.

I'm Canadian, too, so in a country that considers a podium finish to be good enough, you can rest assured that I'd cause a national shitstorm.

"I appreciate his spirit of the games. The Olympics is not about sportsmanship and unity... It is about greatness and winning. This guy realizes that and has the discipline to remain true to those sentiments; he brings a refreshing change from the Shewfelt attitude of just being 'happy to be there'."

No matter what people say, this is so true.

That's what pisses me off about Canada's approach to the summer games. Announcers always try to console yet another 8th place finish by saying "Oh, he's just such a nice guy and I'm so happy he's made it this far". Fuck, Phelps never got to where he is by being 'nice'. Thank god there's a much more aggressive program for the winter games.

Canada's in very good shape to pick up a fair few medals in rowing/kayak/canoe. Softball and maaaaayyyyybe baseball have good potential to get bronze. Triathlon's another one to keep eyes on, so long as Simon Whitfield dosen't have another issue with his bike he's in good form to get another podium finish.

THIS. THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM.
NO NO SHHHHHHHH
THIS IS YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM. FOCUS ON THE SUMMER A LITTLE.

Have you been to Canada at any point between September and April? News flash, Canada is ultimately a winter-orientated country. You might as well be telling Australia not to focus so much on the summer games.

fuck, 2010 can't come soon enough...

then hopefully we won't suck...

Australia doesn't do well in swimming because it's an island country. It does well in swimming because it makes it a point to do well in swimming.

In fact, who says you even have to train in Canada anyway?
>> Anonymous
>>250161
What does being an island have to do with anything? Fact of the matter is that 'winter' is all but unknown to Oz, ergo they focus on SUMMER sports.
>> Anonymous
I can't help but think it's easier to train for summer games. You can move most summer sports indoors. You can't move snow covered mountains in doors.

Because a lot of Aussies... I'm sorry, hold on a second.. I'm watching this Swimming match. YES! UPSET! YES!

Anyway. They say that Australia focuses on swimming because of maritime tradition. And I'd argue that Canada has it easier than Australia when it comes to the vice-versa like that.

I'd be pissed too, 2nd time he has lost the gold to dodgy calls, in 2004 the olympic judge had taken a $100k bribe in the finals, he was punnished but the FILA and IOC hushed it down. That judge is now the FILA president.

Depends on sponsorships, I think.
