It must be tough being a pro football/soccer player. Once you get old (which is like 29), they bring in some 16 year old from Brazil who will take your spot and your fame.

Seriously, I don't think I've seen many professional sports where players have such short primes.

NFL running backs have a worse shelf life. Two/Three years and replaced.

It's really just variance in accordance with how much physicality is involved in the sport. Soccer players abuse their own bodies with constant running, as opposed to sports where players physically abuse each other (American football, basketball, hockey, etc.)

In sports (or roles in sports) with a lesser emphasis on speed and agility (e.g. fat MLB pitchers in their 40s slinging missiles down the plate), a player's "prime" lasts longer.

Also, most NFL players are flat-out lucky to last more than 8-10 years (never mind the length of their "prime"), especially if they play positions prone to dealing or taking lots of hits (running backs, linemen, line-backers, etc.)

So basically, since running is more vital in soccer than in any other professional sport, youth is subsequently more valuable and primes are shorter.

Well, American Football Kickers last a hell of a long time kos they just have to kick the ball and sometimes tackle people on kickoff returns. As for the Offensive Linemen, if you can keep your knees from turning into jelly, you're good for maybe ten years.

That's why the NFL aren't drafting kids out of high school and the first year of college like other certain sports. Heavy contact does wonders on the body and the brain. Ask Kyle "I can't fucking shut up to save my life" Turley.

Watch more sports.

Have you never followed the NFL or the NBA or even something more demanding in age like F1?

I follow the NFL you ass-hat. How else would I know that RB's are ran hard and tossed out most of the time before they are 30. NBA players dont have short shelf lives. Even that fat old man Shaq is still probably a top five Center for the entire NBA. Shut your mouth newfag and go watch more sports center, you queen.

The pound has always been above the dollar retard, just because its 100 Yen to a dollar doesn't mean Japan sucks. Only the change in rate matters and we've been holding steady for a while

You're coming down with us against the Euro

What about horse racing?

Lately some of the athletes barely even survive the races.
