For one, Roddick just had the bad luck of being in his prime when Federer was too. He's lost like 3 or 4 grand slam finals to him, whilst pretty much anihilating the rest of the field.
But besides that, his game just isn't complete enough. If he has a good day and can crack a good first serve percentage coupled with not too many errors and more winners with his forehand, he can beat anyone. But let him play a rally from the back against say any top 30, maybe top 50 player and he's gonna have problems.
Also, can't imagine a guy like him just playing for the money, or not trying his best.
I kinda would have liked to see him play better, maybe even win, but Djokovic in good form would even beat a strong Roddick 8/10 on hardcourt I think.
