PF. KENNY SMITH AND CRAIG SAGER AGREED. DON'T BOTHER THEM ABOUT IT.
>> Anonymous
>>28646

I dont see Wilt Chamberlain in that pic. Is he sitting courtside or what?
>> Anonymous
>>28648

I'm a Spurs fan and I don't even agree with this, not just because Duncan is a PF but because Olajuwon would school him.
>> Anonymous
i'd take '91-'96 Hakeem Olajuwon against any other center from the 90's up to now, including Tim Duncan.

i would have LOVED to see these two match up in their primes.
>> Anonymous
>>28653
kenny "the i get traded every other day" smith and craig "i like to wear shitty suits" sager don't know shit about basketball. Tim Duncan is a fucking center. He doesn't need to be 7 feet tall.
>> Anonymous
>>28659

Duncan doesn't do that well against real centers, and considering Olajuwon handled David Robinson consistently, I'd put my money on Hakeem
>> Anonymous
I'm hoping Dwight Howard can eventually grow into the next Hakeem.
>> Anonymous
>>28661
it would help his cause if he actually played the position though. GTFO.
>> Anonymous
Just watch Spurs game he is their center, every starting lineup he is listed as a center.
>> Anonymous
Why are people saying Duncan is a center when Oberto plays like 35 minutes a night?
>> Anonymous
>>28670

As someone previously said, The Dream was able to school David Robinson. Duncan wouldn't have much more of a chance.
>> Anonymous

ITT we pretend Oberto doesn't exist
>> Anonymous
FAGGOTS GET IT RIGHT, HE IS LISTED AS A CENTER AND A FORWARD. OBERTO PLAYS CENTER AND HE SUB OUT DUNCAN BECOMES THE CENTER. HE IS REALLY A FUCKING POWER FORWARD.

Good centers can make free throws and a have 15 feet range shot.
>> Anonymous
>>28672

you must be living in some crazy bizarro Argie-land where Oberto is getting 35 minutes a night. if Tim Ducan gets hit by a truck tomorrow and doesn't play basketball ever again, Oberto still won't get 35 minutes a night.

why do people care so much about whether Duncan plays 4 or 5? he can be both, depending on the other four players with him on the court at the time.

Duncan is soft....in the playoffs it's always another guy making a big play Mostly a ginobli or horry three pointer wins their games.

Funny no one says Shaq, Ewing, Chamberlin

it's all this stupid argument about Duncan being a center or not...he's still soft

>> Anonymous
Robert Horry was asked whos the best big man he's ever played with since he won titles with Shaq, Hakeem, and Duncan. He said hands down it would be Hakeem.

Only reservation I have about giving that designation to Hakeem is that he really only had so many seasons of brilliance where he really anchored his team and made them champions/title contenders. I think also people in Houston hate that they're reminded their titles came during Jordan's retirement.

Top 6 Centers of all time:
1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
2. Hakeem Olajuwon

play against people his own height.

hakeem is goat. go ask david robinson and his mvp trophy.

oh, and>>28820, it was jordan's suspension. not retirement. but it had more to do w/ the fact the nba brought the 3pt line closer those years so hakeem could post and kick for easy tres.

>>29133
Sorry, don't think he had any control over that. Then again, I realize that basketball existed before 1980.

Are you kidding me? Dwight Howard is the next Michael Jordan, prove me the fuck wrong.

Yes, you need to be a hardcore douchebag to become as successful as Jordan. He punched Steve Kerr in the face because he was fucking around during practice.

Ben Wallace is 6'8". That's one of the best blockers in history.

Dennis Rodman is 6'6". That's one of the best rebounders in history.

So Bill Russel, at 6'9", isn't tall enough?
>> Anonymous

Zo simply does not belong in this discussion. when you talk about his numbers, whether it be the stats or the rings, he's definitely a class below the true greats

Supposedly he was the best big man ever when he was playing in Europe. He came to the NBA when he was already too damn old.

I would have loved seeing what he could do against the NBAs best if he came over when in his prime.

I still have my Sabonis jersey from when I was a kid growing up and watching this guy. A pity he played here when he did. I would have liked to see Sabonis and Drazen Petrovic play together, only in Drazen's time with the Blazers.

Then again, we were right in the middle of our epic Rip City years, and he didn't get much playing time... an absolute shame, if you ask me. Still, one can dream.

Shawn Bradley is the best center who ever played, but for entirely different reasons than everyone else already mentioned...
