How good can the Celtics defense be if they constantly give up big leads at the start of games?
>> Anonymous
.....Shit makes sense.
>> Anonymous
good enough to still make every game close by the end
>> Anonymous
>>165294
Why not acknowledge the fact that they have to constantly play catch up, and this can eventually bite them in the ass.

it boggles the mind.

I don't know, I didn't watch the Celtics that much during the season but when I did it seemed like 4/5 of the time they played from behind at halftime and still managed to win. I guess it works for them.

You've just openly admitted you're a bandwagon fan your argument is invalid.

thats the lakers fucking up, not ubuntu

Defense alone does not win games. People also have to put the ball into the hoop. It just happens that the Celtics do it better in the latter quarters.

As a self admitted Lakers fan, I still try to find stuff what the home reporters write about the Celtics. So far, I found... one game who wrote something negative about the Celtics play in game five. Everything else is how horrible the Lakers defense is, or how crappy the Lakers has played and they're lucking to win game five. Nobody talked how Boston's doesn't play defense at times, that they don't put 48 minutes together, and they can't really shut down the Lakers.

FACT.

I'm actually a Lakerfag, so.. Yeah.

Before the post season started, there was a lot of talk about how the Lakers offense was such a well oiled machine. Best offense, if not top 3 in the league I think. I dunno how Phils triangle O works but it certainly doesn't consider physicality a factor in putting up points.

It's probably given that at the beginning of games, Lakers will put up points fast, since they're already rested, running the floor, and haven't been worn out by the Celtics for 36 minutes. Lakers probably didn't consider how big a contribution House is giving and how well Pierce can cover Kobe and how he can take over a game.

Well fuck. Up my ass then right?

This is probably because about as many people expected the Lakers to sweep as the number that espected Boston to win in any number of games. I think we've all seen the ESPN expert picks image enough.

Should the Celtics take this series, the media attention will not be drawn to how the Big 3 finally manned up and won some rings, but about how the #1 seed in the best Western Conference in history that had one of the best big men today handed to them on a silver platter choked away a 24 point lead and a series they should have finished in 5 games.

God here;

This is because EVERYONE picked the Lakers to win it all; everyone is bitching about them because they lost all the money they bet on this.
Sincerely,
God.
PS - It's good Charles Barkley chose not to bet on the games this year...........

I took a look at the Ahead and Behind stats on the NBA site, and Boston is the only team with a over .500 record when they are behind at the half, but they have also played the least amount of games trailing at the end of 2nd(21). I think much of the negativity toward the Lakers was because Perkins was out and Rondo may still be bothered from the game 1 injury, biggest thing is Pierce being unstoppable while Kobe is playing like a mere mortal. As a Laker fan, I have to side with Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. You can't play that kind of pick'n'roll defense and still expect to win in the Garden. The Boston team is much more fired up at their own floor, which spells trouble for the Laker team unless Kobe and Pau can find their comfort zone.

But the Celtics are the favorites every since they took that 3-1 lead(or the 2-0 lead). Shouldn't a champion be able to play consistent basketball? The Boston Celtics don't seem to want to play 4 quarters of basketball.

>Shouldn't a champion be able to play consistent basketball?

It helps.

The only thing a champion *needs* to do, however, is win 16 games. Everything else after that is icing.

>>165346
But they do play the last 3, which is better than playing the first 2.
>> Anonymous
>>165353

Which is why the Lakers were able to pull off three steals on the Celtics in the last two minutes of the game?

God here to clarify my remarks;
>>165346
I was talking about before the series began; people figured that Boston would likely lose one of the first games, and would likely be the team headed back to Boston in game 6 down 3-2, not up 3-2; however, they won both games 1 and 2, and they won game 4, so the Lakers have to do what no one has: come back from being down 3-1 in the Finals and win.
Now teams have come back from 3-1 in the first three rounds in the playoffs over the years, but the vast majority of those had two of the last three games at home, not two of the last three on the road. They now need to win back-to-back in Boston, which is tough considering that they could not win one game in Boston in the regular season, and couldn't win games 1 or 2 there either. On top of all this, both of LA's wins at home where close games Boston could have won, so with the home court and crowd back in Boston's favor, it's unlikely they can do that. If LA can't hold onto a big lead, and can't complete a big comeback, then odds point to losing this series.

Also, Boston is doing a classic Bulls thing: Forget the first half, the second half is what matters. Plus, considering all the shit that went down in the first 3 rounds + the first 5 games of the Finals, they will be prepared for almost anything the Lakers throw at them in the next game (or two).

But the Lakers are one damn good team, so I wouldn't be shocked if somehow, the planets aligned and Paul Pierce got stabbed again, and the Lakers cruise to win in 7. I mean, anything can happen in sports, AMIRITE? (Note: Just look at the captain of the Falcons getting arrested the night before the Super Bowl against the Broncos nine years ago for picking up a ho who was really a cop; a lot of shit can happen before any game)
So really, just keep your eyes open, and keep buying Jell-O Pudding.

Love,
God.
PS - Pic unrelated, unless a Celtic picks up a male cop posing as a prostitute so he could get some Dick, lol.

That still doesn't mention on how the Celtics lost concentration late in the 4th quarter, and gave up those three steals back to back to back, and KG not making his free throws.

>2 steals and a foul
>> Anonymous
How was the Kobe steal a foul?
>> Anonymous
>>165372
lol @ Boston fans always complaing ''LAKER GET TICKY TACK FOULS WTF ITS FIXED''

The Paul Pierce gets his elbow FUCKING TAPPED, and loses the rock. And its a flagrant foul.

The cCltics is like a mini Spurs team, just a little less boring. Also no flopping Argentinafag.

It does actually look like a clean reach around lolz. Not enough contact to warrant a foul really.
>> Anonymous
>>165380
Actually, Bucksfag who watches enough basketball to know the refs make that call every time, regardless of whether contact was made.
>> Anonymous
>>165390

So your argument is that its a foul, even when its not a foul. Awesome.
>> Anonymous
how good can laker defense be when you blow 20 point leads? Also, gasol and odom have vaginas. They are going straight to gay porn, with those other balkans on the bench.

Paul Pierce > Kobe. At least in this series. Also, not from New England.
>> Anonymous
>>165395
No, my argument is if you would call it on Raymond Felton then you should call it on Kobe Bryant.
>> Anonymous
>>165397
18-1
>> Anonymous
>>165401

What? That's a retarded argument. Kobe Bryant made a clean play on that steal. You don't call fouls when there aren't any fouls. Don't bitch when the refs actually do something right.

>>165397

Nobody is saying that the Lakers play great defense. The Lakers are more opportunistic on defense, they try to block shots and create steals and turnovers, but this tends to bite them on their asses. But it allows plays like both of Kobe steals, and the Fisher steal at the end of the game. The Lakers led both steals and block shots with 11 each over Boston who only had six each in Blocked Shots and steals. It shows where the emphasis where the Lakers try to concentrate on Defense.
>> Anonymous
>>165410
It may not be defined as a foul in the rulebook, but more often than not the refs will call a foul on a reacharound from behind. Even if it's clean.
>> Anonymous
He didn't touch the ball.

hai guise i am wetback, I LOVE LAKERS AND THE DALLAS COWBOYS!!!! Also, I penetrated your border. Also, I am 6.

>>165437

I disagree with the no-call of the foul that was there. It was a reach-in foul.
>> Anonymous
>>165442

Kobe didn't touch ball... he also didn't touch Pierce. If anything, Pierce had a shitty handle on the basketball and lost the damn thing.

HAI GUISE, my name is Jesus, i crossed border in 07, my favorite teams are Lakers and Cowboys. Lakers should have swept.

Then again, considering the crap the franchise went through from 1996 when M.L. Carr last coached then to Rick Pitino, and to one O'Brien guiding the green to 2 winning seasons, then back to crap until Ainge pulled the blockbuster deal, the Celtics were anything but completely significant.
>> Anonymous
>>165437
No, but I think consistency is more important than a strict adherence to the rulebook. It's like getting pulled over for speeding through a yellow. It's technically a traffic violation, but you still think the cop's a dick.

hola my name, how you say, is Miguel, I just crossed border into Corpus Christi... I root for Cowboys and Lakers... Celtics are bad men, Paul Pierce is La Migra...
