uhhhh?
can you say transition year? the defense will be solid, id be much more comfortable if nolan ran a 4-3 defense, but hes built his team around the 3-4 so whatever.
but the offense, where do i start? short, short version, mike "the douchebag" martz is the new offensive coordinator, which means no more old school roll-out san fransisco west-coast offense, the new offense will be much more spread out, like a cross between the new england run-and-shoot and the st louis rams.
Good news: running game = frank gore. Martz will do wonderful things with this scary little black man trust me.
bad news: no quarterback, all three quarterbacks in san fransisco right now were brought there to run mike nolans old school west coast offense, of the three, alex smith, shaun hill, jt o'sullivan, the smoothest transition to a spread out shotgun based offense will be hill, i believe hill will start and smith will go somewhere where his skills will be utilized more to the west coast, maybe minnesota if tarvaris doesnt work out. because whoever starts in san fran at qb will suck, martz will lean heavily on the run.
my prediction for the op is this, san fran has a respectable season transitioning to the new offense but simply cannot eclipse teams which get significantly better play out of their signal callers,
SF 8-8 third in the NFC west
