Chelsea x liverpool

chelsea - 2
liverpool 1

and now
chelsea - 3
liverpool 4

why chelsea wins ?

because soccerfags don't understand the concept of brackets unless it's world cup time.

what?

it was 1-1 in the first game

and 3-2 in the second game

because they don't really count double. That's just what the commentators say because they're retarded.

Away goals are a method of determining the winner of a match as defined by the Laws of the Game. If the score is tied, the team that scored more goals on away ground wins. That's it.
>> Anonymous
It's more like half a goal, much like goal difference is like half a point. If you scored more away goals than your opponents you get half a goal, but if overall they still score more then you, then whats half a goal.

1 away goal = 1,01 goals

not really true, but works for slower brains

This doesn't work if a team scores greater than or equal to 100 goals.

Try getting an official from The English Football League to explain the offside rule.
>> Anonymous
>>82665
If an attacking player is further forward than the last defender at the moment the ball is played he is offside.

When it doesnt count - if said attacking player is not involved in play, if its a corner.

What do I win eurofag?

there are no situations where the offside rule "doesn't count". it's completely up to the linesman/referee, whatever they want to call, that's the way it goes. you could even say that it's not even really a rule, it's just completely open to interpretation.

look what happened today... essien fucking drills it past everybody into the net, linesman calls offside even though no one had any hope of making contact with the ball.

Thanks, you've just reinstated that all of my friends know fuck all about the offside rule, and we're all english.

doesn't take into account the changes made to the offside rule in recent years. Also missed out one time where you can't be declared offside

Fail and fail.

He's talking about phase one and two, and if you play the ball forward from a corner the result is a goal kick. Try throw in.

Actually, the ref can be over-ruled. If a ref performs bad enough FIFA/UEFA/FA can set a replay. Would've happened last world cup when an English ref gave a player 3 yellow cards and blew the full time whistle as the ball was going into the net and dissallowed the goal... before 90 minutes had passed.

FIFA said it it wasn't for the fact the end result wasn't effected, they would've replayed the game

Creating an advantage by being in an offside position ... One of those guys, can't remember who it was, was clearly blocking Reina's view.
>> Anonymous
>>82712

how does not sending off a player after giving him a second yellow not effect the outcome of the match? croatia should have been down to 10 men in that match for a longer stretch in that match, of course it would have changed a few things. if a match isn't replayed over something as blatant as that, you think it's going to be replayed due to a "rule" that is open to interpretation? you and i both know damn well there will never be a replay for a match decided on a controversial offside call or non-call. that's why we're debating about all this in the first place, because there is absolutely nothing set in stone regarding the offside rule.

it's actually called 'influencing play' so if you are in someone elses view, you can be seen as influencing the play

Oz still got through.

I got the idea right anyway.

throw-in

I don't think you can be offside if the ball goes backwards as well

What a stupid scoring system. Truly the worst sport on earth.

Oops, silly me. Wrong thread. I was supposed to post this in a random NFL thread.

JACK ASS ---AWAY goals only come into play when there is a DRAW in the regular overall score..... so chelsea won 4-3 in the agregate.....Had liverpool scored one more in extra time..THEN AND ONLY THEN the away goals matter.
>> Anonymous
Away goals only count if there's a tie at the end of the aggregate. The team with the most away goals wins.

Now the offside rule, from a Canadian's perspective, goes as so:

There must be two defending players (Yes, the goalie counts) between any offensive players influencing play.

Offside does NOT take place on throw-ins or if the ball travels backwards.
