Hello Americans, England Guy here.

So since /sp/ re-started up, i have opened my mind to american sports and... I love them so far.

When Baseball started i chose a random team, i chose the Orioles (lol i know) but i loved following them and learning about Baseball etc.. so that was great

Next was the NFL season, i decided to throw away all my pre-conceptions of american football and chose the Baltimore Ravens (to go with the Orioles thing) and i am fucking loving the tactics and hard hitting of the NFL its great.

Now i want to watch NBA and NHL, but who do i support?

I wanted to go for a Baltimore Team to stick with my other 2 but i don't think they have teams in either sport (at the top level anyway) SO who should i go with? What teams are close to Baltimore or even what teams would be fun to follow this year?
>> ENG !!cW1ecJjuV4T
Oh and i noticed my picture is fucked up

supposed to be NHL & NBA
>huuuuurrrrrrrr

Just go with ANYONE except Pittsburgh or BAWWWWston
>> Anonymous
hows this fow a random ass idea

Stick with "Birds"

NHL go for Penguins or the Ducks

NBA go with the Hawks;
or if you want a brand new team to support go with the Gay ass thunder.

NHL: go with penguins

If you want to stay with the Washington theme, go with the Capitals for NHL and the Wizards for the NBA.

If you want to do bird theme, perhaps Ducks (as I really don't want to suggest Pittsburgh to anyone) and the Atlanta Hawks for NBA.

If you just don't want to seem like a bandwagoner... you could always hit up my Blues for the NHL. I don't know who consistently fails as hard as them in the NBA, I'm New Orleans (since I was five, it was my first team in any major sport since back when they played in Charlotte) and due to their recent success that is probably as bandwagon as you can get.

Its about how much you enjoy the sport, don't discourage someone who wants to get into things. Especially if they aren't just bandwagoning the best teams, this is what should be supported.

Also, unlike 80% of the NFL the Ravens have won a Superbowl since the calender changed to the 2000's.

He's picking a city, and baltimore blows ass. Hell, DC even blows dick, so that whole area is plagued with bad teams. It's one thing to pick a team to root for because they're an underdog, but this is like rooting for a pony in a horse race.

These teams won't be good in even 5 years. Why, just why would you want to do that to yourself? At least pick teams with good management, OH WAIT THOSE TEAMS WIN...

GOOD TEAMS = BANDWAGON!!!!!

i'm not too bothered if they are awful teams or anything, i don't think the Ravens are bad at all.

The orioles...well yeah.

I just watch for the sake of watching, i could just watch as a neutral and see if i like a team because of how they play etc.. but i like having a team to follow from the start.
>> Anonymous
>>393966
I'm a stupid cunt because I'm suggesting not to follow horrible teams with horrible management? No offense, but only a dumbass that lives in that city would suggest rooting for that team knowing full well how terrible the team will be for probably the next fucking decade.

Your bias is very easy to see.
>> Anonymous
>>393964
Raven's are already back to smothering defense and with a year of experience I can see Flacco leading them on a playoff run.

Capitals are improving big time, and I don't see any reason why they can't be a threat. Ovechkin and Brashear will definitely lead them back to the playoffs, and maybe even win a few series.

Wizards... well they will probably make the playoffs and that's it, but that includes enough regular season winning to make watching them fun.

I have nothing for the O's, but goddamn man lay off. There are a lot worse towns then Baltimore to follow if you want to enjoy sports.

18-1.
>> Anonymous
>>393974
Do yourself a favor and just watch games, regardless of the team. Pick a team at the start and follow it through. Choosing a team because it has birds and they're perennial losers is not a smart decision.

Then again, choosing to watch NHL games over EPL games is a bit retarded as it is.

He walked it off. Its fucking Hockey, that guy probably took some painkillers and begged the coach to get back into the game (although I really don't know the story behind it). Those guys are freaking insane.

A similar injury to the Blues happened to Brice Salvador in the playoffs, got his head cut when someone checked him into the boards and it happened right at the junction in the glass, they tried to clean the ice but it was stained orange for the rest of the game due to how much blood fell. Now other Bluesfags correct me if I'm wrong, memory is sort of fuzzy, but didn't he get stitches and come back the next game?

Clint Malarchuk. Sabres goalie, went down to the ice for a save, took a skate blade to the throat. The only thing that saved his life was the fact that it happened on the side of the rink that the paramedics enter from. Otherwise he'd have bled out before they got there.

Similar thing happened to Richard Zednik of the Panthers, oddly enough against the Sabres.

Similar story.
I've been basketball fan since I was a kid. So when we were having discussions who is the best it was always Jordan, then some other kid said that Olajuwon is also very good for some forgotten reason. Anyway, while everyone was routing for Bulls I ended routing for Houston and I've been their fan ever since.

Then recently (2-4 years back) I started watching some baseball and nfl. To learn the rules I always played some respective video games (madden and mlb 05 + mods). In madden I sucked at throwing the ball so I played with the best running team in the league. Chargers. I became too good for that team and decided to chose some other a bit weaker team. They had to have a bit weaker running game and also decent TE, since all I could pass was toward TEs. That way I ended with Giants. While I watched them play on tv, I also liked that they had this bad reputation of failing in playoffs, incompetent QB, wacky coach and insane (read stupid) fans. So I've stayed with them.

I don't watch MLB that much, but I thought to myself that I need a team there as well. I really didn't like Yankees because they are too rich. So I went for their biggest rivals. Red Sox. I liked what saw at first, but soon their stupid Internets fanbase draw me far from them. And somehow I ended settling with those 'cute looking birds logo' team, that OP likes and are bad as bad can be.

I know you're trying a "Hawk" theme, but go for the Orlando Magic. After a few shitty years, we are finally starting to become a major powerhouse in the NBA. Not only Dwight Howard is :awesome:, but a lot of Brits visit Florida so you have something to relate to.

As a Cavs fan the Wizards are our playoff nemesis, but Gilbert is just too cool.
>> Anonymous
Should just pull for the Flyers.

- Their logo and name may not be a literal bird, but it still has feathers
- They have a young team that emphasizes teamwork and very aggressive checking. Goalscoring depth is spread throughout the offense. So while you probably won't see a sixty-goal or hundred-point scorer, you won't be spending half the game watching players you already know can't score muck around on the ice until the stars get their wind.
- Since they are from Philadelphia, they'll never win another Stanley Cup, so you'll never be accused of bandwagoning.
