How to make NFL Offences Less Retarded Anonymous
All these ideas are based off the idea that better field position leads to more points, which leads to winning. Face it, when it comes to two of the best teams face to face, the winner is typically the one that has the shorter average drives. Good teams will probably get 1-2 60+ yard drives in a game with another good team, so you better hope you’re getting the ball in a nice spot before that happens.

1. If you are within the 35-30 yard lines, don’t fucking kick a field goal. Kicking 52-42 yard field goals is quite frankly dumb and should not happen. There is a 62.7% chance that from 50+ the kicker will make it. So chances are the exact stats on kicking it from 47+ are similar and don’t crack even 75% completion. So you just gave your opponent field position near your 40 25% of the time and can easily put you within your 15 after a punt. Good job. Instead, either go for it or punt it (more on punts later).

2. If you are in a situation of 4th and goal with less than 5 yards to go, do it. Assuming you don’t give up an interception, which would be, quite frankly, retarded and should be reinforced by benching the QB. If you miss your 4th and goal, you still get to start your opponent back on their 5 yard line and then chances are they’ll punt and you get it at your 40+ yard line, which means you’re poised for another score, which is good for winning.

3. Punters should know three punts total: how to kick it really far, how to kick it really high and go 20-30 yards from the line of scrimmage, and how to kick it out of bounds within the 15. Besides that, there is no need for a punter. The second kick I mentioned is the one most often ignored. When you are smart and don’t kick a field goal from the 35 yard line and instead kick a 20-30 yard super high punt that forces a fair catch you are winning in field position.

4. On a slightly separate issue, if you have 4th and 1 on the 25-goal yard lines, GO FOR IT.

Stop giving up awesome field position and stop going for super retarded plays like 50 yard field goals.

But they need their pads so they don't get hurt ;_; Think of the bandaids they'd have to wear!

>>444494
Back before college football used pads there was a chart in the scorecards specifically for injuries, and a seperate one for deaths/comas

And it's not like those pads are soft or even shock absorbing. It's hard plastic used mainly as a weapon. Sorry if soccer is too mild and boring to warrant the use of protection.

You Eurofaggots would get absolutely destroyed playing American football. The only thing that could compare is rugby, and even then they don't hit as hard as NFL players.

OP is exactly right by the way. Except 2 in some situations, like early in an expected low-scoring game.

Rugby is more about form tackling. They're tough sons of bitches though, so they'd probably make the transition, assuming they're able to run in pads well.

Rugby's still more painful than American Football since they don't use pads.

So really until I see the US making any kind of impact in Rugby I wouldn't be calling anyone a faggot.

sure, early first quarter or late 4th quarter when points are needed for a sort of scoring backbone. But otherwise no. Even then I say that it's better to pin them in early and get a stop (even if they get 1 first down, so what), and make them give it to you near the 50.

maybe an exception for end of the half, but only if your offense sucks balls and the coach is a pussy

Re: 1

This is totally situational, a) time left on the clock, b) tempo of the game, c) can your defense cause a 3rd and out, etc.

Re: 2

See c)

Overall your arguments make sense, but it's common football sense, and if you don't think coaches who are paid millions of dollars a year have at the least a very basic grasp of football common sense... you are the one being retarded.

You won't see it because American football is already so well established. There's Americans playing rugby at the highschool and college levels, you just have to look hard for it.

Not nearly, even with the pads the speed and force of the impact in American football at even the highschool level is much more vicious than the equivalent in Rugby on average.

Stop responding to retarded trolls and address the OP. I will have to look into what you say; it sounds relatively well-thought through. I know TMQ beats this to death, but going for two late in the game rather than kicking the PAT to tie is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Get a better kicker.

>There is a 62.7% chance that from 50+ the kicker will make it.

Much higher than the 0% chance of conversion when you punt.

Punts rarely lose 7 yards, and there are no better kickers.

Oh wait, its CP...

Sure is samefag around here.

Football is the most conservatively coached game in sports. Anyone who calls for punts from the 30 yard line is an idiot.

If anything, they should be GOING for 4th down conversions over punting.

Hell, a punt from the 30 yard line with result in a 10 yard net gain a significant amount of the time.

Fuck, I watched the Steelers with Field Goal Bill at the helm.

I've seen a significant amount of field goals from this range.

Uh, no. There's been studies on this you know.

Pads disperse the force of a tackle throughout the entire body. So if you were to get tackled in the stomach all the force would travel throughout the stomach and chest area. Your rib cage is made to absorb something like that.

However in Rugby you have no pads... all the force from a tackle is concentrated on one area like a few ribs for example. Your body can't do shit against that.

This explains it pretty well

>A tackle with half a ton of force sounds like a crippling blow. But, according to John Melvin, an injury biomechanics researcher for General Motors and NASCAR, the body can handle twice that amount — as long as the impact is well-distributed. That job usually is handled by the player's equipment, which spreads out the incoming energy, lessening its severity.

tl;dr: NFL has more force in their tackles, Rugby tackles hurt a hell of a lot more. I don't hate American Football or anything I'm just tired of Americans calling other people pussies when they won't even play the more painful sport.
