Sept 2007-August 2008 is the greatest year in sports history Anonymous
Let's review the facts of this incredible year, shall we?

Greatest upset in college football history, Appalachian State over Michigan. An upset-riddled season follows, with incredible games and plays; Rockies make the mind blowing win streak to win a trip to the World Series finals, and ironically get shut out by the Red Sox. Classic. NFL- 18-1. 'Nuff said. Boston Celtics compile a dominating year in the NBA, eventually going to NBA Finals with a climatic clash with an old rival, and eventually winning the first Title in decades. Tiger Woods undergoes knee surgery, still plays through US Open with pain, still wins in a dramatic showdown with Rocco. Fresno State pulls another amazing upset in the college world series of baseball. I don't remember much about 2008 College Basketball and Professional baseball, but I'm sure that's historic too. Griffey hit 600. UEFA action gave us nail-biting finish in the Champions league, and a dominating scoring frenzy in European. Little League World Series was just completely awesome. And the Beijing Olympics were phenomenal. From the opening ceremonies to the world records broken, and gold medals won by a certain swimmer.

So, farewell greatest year in sports history, we'll miss you...or will we? Opinions from /sp/?

Wow, never thought of it all linear and stuff like that OP but you are damn right.

Now that I think about it, it was one of the best sports years ever even before the Olympics (I mean, look at the NBA west last year with something like 9 50-win teams), which were completely mind-blowing in themselves. I mean, Phelps was awesome, but there was tons of other stuff too.

I agree OP. Can't think of a more exciting year.

I would say 1998, but we all know the home run race was from Steroids, and the fucking Yankees won it all.
So yes, the last year takes the fucking cake.

The only thing that sucks about it is that the Baltimore Massacre happened in August 07 :<

Don't forget that it was the first time all the #1 seeds made the Final Four.
