I am confused at all this trading Jason Bay to get Matt Holliday talk. I thought Boston fell in love with Bay, and kept on pointing to his numbers to show they didn't miss Manny?

OK.

Holliday is 1 1/2 year(s) younger than Bay, and as us Soxfags know Theo prefers younger players.

Also Holliday has a .409 to Bay's .370.

Holliday struck out 104 times to Bay's 137 times.

Holliday's .321 AVG, Bay's .293 with Boston.

Also yes, yes Holliday plays in Coors field but Fenway isn't a normal ballpark as well.

Boston loved Manny too.

Holliday is Theo's kind of player. He takes pitches and gets on base. Don't get me wronf Bay is nice but the Red Sox really traded for Bay because he was the only "good" LF available, Theo would have traded for Holliday instead of Bay but Holliday wasn't on the block due to the Rockies still being in NL West race. Also the Red Sox could easily spin Bay for a pitching prospect pitcher and then trade said pitcher to the Rockies, due to Bay's low salary.

Strikeout are HUGE when you have man on base in big spots. Example: Men at the corners with 1 out, a fly ball could get the run in while a strikeout almost fucks you over.

Then why the big spin that Bay was just as good for Boston as Manny would be?

The Red Sox front office never said that, that'd be the fans.

Yes, but still a very overrated statistic.

Not OP but the only thing I've heard is small whispers about Holliday, rumors, people talking, hearsay etc.

Also the Red Sox have yet to talk to Bay about an extension yet. But that almost means nothing.

Does a Boras client not hit the free agent market? I think Kyle Loshe is the only one who hasn't.

Seriously. The only one.

Is "they" Theo Epstein and Dan O'Dowd, the majority of the Red Sox fan base (I refuse to say Nation) or are we talking about two random slobs?

n/m, either way 4chan will make believe it matters

the majority of Red Sox fan base. Although I'm sure both O'Dowd and Epstein are sending feelers of what they can and can't do for trades.

the Rockies don't care who they get as long as they don't have to pay Holliday anymore.

fucking worst owners in baseball.

Rockiesfag out.

>According to Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post, the Rockies have made it known to rival executives that left fielder Matt Holliday is available. Renck names the Red Sox, Phillies, Angels, Mets, Royals, and Nationals as potential suitors.

Hi, I'm from Pittsburgh, where we don't pay anybody except Matt Morris.

The thing about the Red Sox is that every offseason, they have many rumored moves. Remember last year? You probably don't, but it was an equally ridiculous move: A third of the Sox farm for Santana (Buchholz, Ellsbury...)
>> Anonymous
>>429632

Ellsbury, Buchholz, and Lowrie aren't good enough players to snatch Santana.

We pay others. Usually terrible players that they give franchise status.

Jack Wilson?
Jason Kendall?

There's a long history of giving shitty players long term deals, and never getting shit from good players.

I think that's a weakness of the team though. They can't GET long term deals from anyone unless they're bad.

They also wanted Lester at some point in the rumors. Thank god we didn't do that, I mean Santana is a god but Lester's not a bad lefty to have himself. Plus we'd have been facing him quite a bit >.<
