I guess you missed the entire point of the article:

If you take out the "subjective" metals (ie: sports where judges decide the winner) the count is much different. It seems that in nearly ever sport during this Olympics that requires judges to decide the winner, there has been some irregularities or "What?" moments. The author was merely pointing out that if you want a less subjective view of the games and who's program is the best, you should eliminate the medals won in events where judges decide the winner.
