Terrible Conference? Or WORST conference?
>> Anonymous
both
>> spr0t
Hey hey hey... don't forget we've still got the entire MAC out there, not to mention 2/3rds of the WAC. Ya dig?

North Texas threatened to turn into a small conference power like TCU and Boise State, but that never completely materialized.

The only SBC teams with any promise are Troy, Arkansas State and North Texas. The rest of the conference is absolute shit.

Great post, and correct on all counts. Ignore the doofus comparing the WAC and MAC to the god awful bottom half of the sun belt.

Whoops.

The bottom half of the WAC *are* Sun Belt teams-- NMSU, USU and Idaho played there as late as 2004. And the bottom of the MAC is Buffalo, directional Michigan, and (next year) sum Temple. THOSE are very much the worst I-A teams in existence.

Arkansas State finished with a near-500 record every year they're in the Belt, against a questionable schedule. North Texas, Troy, and FAU have potential... the latter is coached by Howard Schnellenberger, who won a national championship at Miami, back in the day.

Too bad UL-Lafayette is gonna run the table in the SBC. 11-2, with our only losses being LSU and Texas A&M is my prediction.

Why lie?

I'd say you're crazy, but they did beat Houston, so anything is possible.

I still think Troy or Mid Tenn State will win the conference, though. They've had impressive performances against good teams.

I cant believe my alma mater made it onto 4chan.

+1 good sir

We appreciate your enthusiasm. But you haven't even played a conference game yet.

You looked shaky enough in your wins that I'm optimistic for other teams. You play conference-mate FAU on ESPN2 on Wednesday, 10/18. We'll all find out then.

And North Texas beat SMU, which beat Arkansas State comfortably. So settle down.

Uh, I'm not 20541...keep dreaming, buddy.

How can you say we were shaky. We dominated NC A&T, as we should have (they're Div II-A and 0-6 for the year). We did the same against Eastern Michigan (also 0-6..heh). So those two are weak teams, but against Houston we played fantastic. After being down 21-0 to come back and win, on the road, mind you. That says something.

Keep in mind that at the end of last season we won our last 5 games against Middle Tennessee, Troy, North Texas, FIU, and UL-Monroe. The only reason we missed out on a bowl game was due to a loss at Arkansas State (they went to the New Orleans Bowl instead).

Tonight should say something. I'll be watching ESPN2 for sure.

Alright, so we did REALLY bad that game. It was a pathetic showing, especially for a nationally televised game.

UL 6 FAU 0

Yes.

And even if you DID play superbly against Houston, you still only won by 3 points. Welcome to conference play now, dude.

Well, 1-0 in the sunbelt so far. It's a start, and judging from how we did last season in conference play, we're sure to do supurbly well.

We were picked to win our conference for a reason, spr0t.
