Had a english teacher who said that he and his friends would fence without mask and padding. Me and my friends were like thats fucking nuts. I asked how good was he. He said he been doing the no mask thing for like two years. Then he pointed to his face and asked how many scars were there.

the answer was 0.

That guy was a dumb nigger. My instructor's a fucking Olympiad from the former Soviet Union and even he always uses a fucking mask.

probably one of the few sports I wouldn't mind trying out, only a few problems

no equipment
I'm fat
Minnesota probably doesn't have a fencing school

I agree. I was in my university's fencing club for quite some time. It's fun and great exercise. Then I went and blew out my knee.

If you're interested in fencing, be damn sure you practice your lunges. It'll help reduce your chances of ending up like me.

Eh, fencing isn't really a spectator sport ESPECIALLY on tv. It just moves too fast and precicely for someone who doesn't have a good view, good eyes and a good sense of how fencing works to tell what in the world is going on.

I saw some fencing on tv in the 2004 olympics but I couldn't follow it at all. I stopped fencing in late 2003 due to injury.
