Do you guys have secondary teams you root for behind your main one? Especially if your main/home team sucks?

Myself, I'm a Vikings fan, but I also root for the Bears (I just like them, plus they're rivals to Green Bay just like Minnesota), the 49ers (parents live in San Francisco), and anyone who plays against the Patriots (lol).

I hate them completely equally in terms of football. they're both complete faggots who lose when it counts and make the Big Ten look stupid. Wisconsin has not lost a Rose Bowl since 1963 and has won three since then. They also have a winning bowl record vs. The SEC, the only Big Ten team that can say that. Michigan and Ohio State are embarrassments.

When it comes to basketball I hate Michigan State and Indiana, because they're Michigan State and Indiana.

Not sure if you're trolling or not, but if you aren't, that book perfectly describes my dilemma every football Sunday (and this week, Monday). By geographic necessity, I'm a Vikings fan. But I also began supporting the Panthers last year because my brother lives in North Carolina. The Steelers are also cool, though far less than they used to be for me, because I don't get to see Bill Cowher scream angrily at everyone anymore.

You are fucking retarded. Michigan is 7-3 vs. the SEC in bowl games and 23-5-1 otherwise. In particular they have spanked the shit out of Vanderbilt.

The only team they have a losing record against is Tennessee, and that includes former members Georgia Tech and Tulane.

I grew up a Cleveland Browns fan. But when the team left after 1995, I didn't really know who to root for, because I couldn't root for the Ravens, since they'd stolen our team, and I couldn't root for Pittsburgh or Cincinnati, since they'd been rivals for so long.

I had been a Red Sox fan for my whole life, so I decided to find the NFL team closest to the Red Sox to root for, and so I started rooting for the Patriots in 1996. When the Browns returned in 1999, they became my #1 again, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the Patriots who got me through the three long years without my Browns.

I can think of one situation of liking two teams in the same field(s):
My brother works at Cal Poly, and I live a few blocks from it, so even though it's a small college, I have a liking of it. Cleveland Browns/Indians first and foremost.

Secondary teams are the Carolina Panthers (started rooting for them when the Browns left in 95). In baseball I just pick teams when they reach the playoffs (if the Indians aren't there), so this year it would probably be the Rays and the Dodgers.

I root for the Panthers, and have since i was a little kid, but i always used to tell people "I dont really have a favorite team, i just like the game, although I was kind of a panthers fan when i was a little kid."
I might not have to say that this year.

I have secondary teams for every sport I enjoy but hockey, but the secondary team is usually just as bad as the primary team.

I root for whatever team is playing the Toronto Maple Leafs that night. Any team playing the Bears or one containing a Fantasy player of mine and Manny Ramirez becasue he pisses Sox's fans off.

I only have primary teams, I do feel that having two is tantamount to bandwagoning... you shouldn't be able to say 'at least <team name> is doing well.'

When the playoffs come around though I will cheer fervently against the teams I dislike though.

I don't exactly have secondary teams but I do generally pick a team when I'm watching a game that my main team isn't playing in.

Pretty much I root against other teams in my own division... if neither team is in the division, then I usually pick the home team (unless the home team is the Patriots).

The only teams that I'll root for that aren't my main team are the ones playing the Patriots in any given week, even if it's a division rival, and especially during the playoffs. Fuck the Patriots.

It's not bandwagoning unless you make up for being a fan of a shitty team by also picking a good team to soften the pain of losing a lot.

If you want to root for a second team you should pick one that's even worse than your main team, or just always root for the underdog if you're watching a game that doesn't involve your own team.

I don't have legitimate secondary teams, but when my team doesn't make it to the post-season, I will follow the least douchebaggy of the teams that made it until the end of the season.
