Russell Martin is kicking Carlos Ruiz's ass so bad in the Dodgers-Phillies match up.

Agreed. I don't dislike the Philly team, and I really like Rollins and Hamels.

Except, as I don't watch any Philly games at all (I will say I didn't watch more than 3 before the NLDS), I don't see why Howard is such an amazing player.

He has zero patience.

He swings at almost every bad pitch in his area.

OP deletes first post and the thread is deleted. I thought this was common knowledge.

Again, when the Dodgers beat the Phillies tomorrow, we can all talk about that.

A couple of things. The Dodgers haven't attempted a stolen base in the Cubs-Dodgers series.

Furcal's still hurt/rusty. He's not going to attempt to steal bases, he'll run on hit and runs, but he'll not do any straight stealing.

Russell Martin has a canon of an arm, the problem is that the fucker been partying way to fucking hard this year, and let some things lapse, plus the fact he played in over 150 games with little rest basically beat the shit out of his body. He's rested and healthy now though.

Part of catching people stealing bases is the fucking pitcher actually doing his job and throwing a pitch fast enough to reach the catcher in time, and FUCKING GETTING OUT OF THE WAY. Half the time Martin allowed a runner to steal was because his pitcher fucked up throwing the ball. Still, Martin should just eat the ball and allow the stolen run if he can't throw the perfect ball most times.

Martin CAN FUCKING HIT THE BALL. You seen what he can do when he's fully rested, he smashes that damn ball, and when he doesn't he walks his ass to first base. Martin has 90 walks this year despite finishing with a .400 Slugging percentage. Pitchers didn't fear him this year, but he has such a good eye of the strike zone he still was able to basically gain a walk every two games. If you're a Dodgers fan, you'll notice that Martin was batting leadoff for the final month, and he had multiple 3-walks games despite being in a 'hitting' slump.

Russell Martin is a fucking TRUE AMERICAN HERO despite being Canadian. FUCK YEAH NORTH AMERICA ALLIANCE.

That has been true so far in the playoffs... but not so much towards the end of the regular season... he settled down quite a bit and had an AWESOME September...

But... you gotta remember, while he leads the league in HRs, he also leads the league in strikeouts :-(.

I can't wait though... it should be a really good series, regardless of the outcome.

Best thing about Martin is that he's smart. Fans may hate it, but he goes out A LOT to talk to the pitcher if he's wild. He calms them down, and he usually gets them back into a focused mood.

Honestly, Game 1 decides it all, probably. If Dodgers go up 1-0, they'll probably go 2-0 off Bills.

If they go down 0-1, I think that could shake our hot streak, and we could go down 0-2.

Yeah, it may slow down the game, but fuck it. The opposing team can do the same shit, and its their own damn fault if they don't exploit it. Geovany Soto didn't even talk to Dempster until the 7th walk in game one. Soto's great, but there's still some things he needs to learn as a catcher.

No shit. Ruiz blows, and I'm a Phillies fan.

Our other position players (minus Burrell) are better though, so I'm not too concerned.

Andre Ethier has a higher OPS+ than Jayson Werth.
Matt Kemp has a higher OPS+ than Shane Victerino.
Casey Blake has a higher OPS+ than Pedro Feliz.
Manny has a higher OPS+ than Pat Burrell.
Russell Martin has a higher OPS+ than Carlos Ruiz.

That's five positions the Dodgers are better than the Philles are at.

Also don't forget Furcal was out most of the year, and he looked to be having a career year.
