Bruins win 8 in a rwo
Trojans win the next 8 years
It's only fair but i really dont see this cycle repeating unless the nfl manages to lure Carrol away... which i hope never happens but probably will

Goddamn it, we're gonna lose :(. But hey...there's always basketball, BITCHES!!

Sigh...doesn't matter, I hate both sports. What would be awesome would be University MMA teams. Then I'd give more of a damn.

But yeah, if USC takes it then damn, 8 years.Maybe after that we'll get our shit together (like SC did after we beat them 8 in a row)

Dorrell's not so bad. He took over a program that was well on its way to complete implosion from the Toledo days, stopped the slide and started it going back in the right direction. He recruits well, but is unfortunately stuck in the same conference and town as one of the greatest recruiters in the game.

The way I see it, he's probably as good an offensive coach as Carroll is a defensive coach, although Dorrell's favored West Coast offense is always tough to teach at the college level. Carroll just happened to partner up with college offensive genius Norm Chow for several years and the rest is history.

Dorrell is dull. We need a Carrol-esque coach with an unlimited supply of enthusiasm. Maybe then we'll get some 5-star recruits. I dont think we got a single one last year and UCLA's in the middle of fucking Los Angeles. No more excuses

USC's in a better recruiting location - South Central

The "Beat 'SC" rally sucked ass! There wasn't even a fucking bonfire!!! What little school spirit I had has died tonight. I hope USC kicks our asses, we deserve it. Go USC!!!

The thing is that it's Dorrell who gets most of the recruits from South Central and Compton.

I think one of Carroll biggest draws in recruiting is that he promises a kid that if he's good enough, he'll play right away. If you look at his squads, he plays more freshmen than most coaches will. It's a big reason why USC will probably have another chance to play for the Nat'l championship in what was seen to be a "down" year.

yea, but for every Vidal Hazelton who enrolls in a school full of premier recievers eager to embrace the competition, there is a DeSean Jackson who chooses to play in a program where he gets to start from game 1.
UCLA is doing something wrong. All those 5 and 4-star recruits on the Trojans' bench - some of them should be playing for the Bruins but alas...

No bonfire? But Dorrell said there was definitely gonna be a bonfire

Damn, that makes me kind of glad I didn't go (if it's true).

They needed a fire considering how cold it's getting (well, cold for so cal standards)

In Dorrell's defense, Toledo wasn't fired for not winning, but for losing control of the program and bringing bad publicity to the university. Also there's no embarassment in losing to Fresno State, since they're one of the better programs around - you could stick them in the Pac10 and they'd do very well thank you. And there's really no shame in being 2nd best recruiter in town when Pete Carroll's the other guy.

That said, most of the rest of your points are pretty good. But who replaces Dorrell? I wonder if Norm Chow is tired of the NFL yet? He may be excited about planning an offense around Vince Young, though. Petrino SAYS he's committed to Louisville, but you never know. Rich Rodriguez would be an exciting choice, too, but they'd have to hurry to beat 'bama to the punch.
