hopefully we can at least give it a better shot this year. Pop's been paranoid as usual when it comes to letting guys rest up after injury, so hopefully we're able to play at 100% all around when the playoffs start. the west is always hard to get out of, but the trades that've gone down do seem pretty daunting.
Although, everyone is just trying to trade up to make sure they beat us. That we only got Kurt Thomas and Mighty Mouse with as much cap room as we do means we didn't really need to change anything.

According to the "experts" the Spurs have a MUCH better chance since they traded for Kurt Thomas. I didn't think it was a good trade, but it makes sense after you look at all the other west trades. At this point I'd say the Spurs' only real competition is the Lakers.
>> Anonymous
>>14109

its only a good trade in the sense that Tim Duncan now doesn't have to automatically bang with big forwards or centers like Gasol, Bynum, and Shaq. Instead, they have a okay center who doesn't demand the ball to be effective. Its not the greatest trade, but it allows the Spurs to be more effective.
>> Lambchop's Death Legion
>>14109

I wouldn't count out the Hornets.

Paul + Wells + West + Stojakovic + Chandler

pretty damn solid team.
>> Anonymous
The trade helped them, Elson always felt like dead weight to me, and while Barry was a good part of the team, the Spurs need a better center more.

Anything is better than watching Fab fumble every single pass that goes his way, and it'll give Duncan some room to breath.

Thanks to the Spurs, the west has become pretty damn tough. Even a non-fan has to admit that the Spurs play team ball at a higher level than most NBA teams, though. It's not all about raw talent.

That's because Pop knows not to take the regular season too seriously. In a game when the spurs were down 15 points against the raptors, he switched out Duncan and put in some 2nd string bencher who had played less than 10 minutes in his entire career.

Pop's weird, but he knows how to win when it comes down the playoffs.

Last year the West was just far more powerful than the East. I'm a Spurs fan, but even if we hadn't made it to the Finals, I'd say any team who made it to the West semi-finals or better could've easily beat the Cavs.

This year at least, the Cavs look better and there's always Boston and Detroit.

Yeah but the technique doesn't add the extra 'fall down no matter what' step at the end.

I remember them playing the raptors earlier this year. They had a five point deficit in the last few minutes and were falling all over the place. It was a disgrace. Thankfully the refs were just laughing at them. I knew something was up because the raptors are so undersized and usually get bullied themselves when fighting for balls.

>Spurs make me embarrassed to be a basketball fan

Oh wow talk about absolute delusion. Call them boring, whatever. But you're an idiot if you knock them for dishonesty or dirty playing. They're one of the few legitimately fair teams, and they get a lot of shit from referees.

If Tony Parker got even a fifth of the calls per fouls actually committed against him, he would average 30 points a game through free throws alone, and Tim Duncan is the classiest player in the league.
>> Anonymous
>>16089

gb2/bed/ Dirk.

Refs laughing at the Spurs? That's a new one. Ever see the game against Dallas where Joey Crawford made a complete bullshit call against Duncan, then gave him two technicals (an automatic ejection) - when Duncan was On the BENCH - just because Duncan was laughing?

Hating the champions doesn't make you team suck any less.

his post was dumb but yours isn't much better. the spurs aren't "classier" than other teams. you're obviously a spurs fan because you've come here to bash 2 people for making observations about their style of play, so you're seeing their "class" through black and grey glasses.

Except when every commentator I've ever listened to constantly says it. When Charles Barkley has said it, Kenny Smith has said it. But sure, I'm just biased or something.
>> Anonymous
>>16119

they're classier than teams that constantly run their mouths, sure, but as an organization, how can you possibly say that one franchise has more or less class than another? if they were to draft a plaer with a bad attitude, would they then become a less classy organization? labeling players is fine, but for entire teams, it just makes no sense.

also, you are a spurs fan, so you are automatically biased. being a fan isn't a bad thing, but it does distort your perception of your team.

also, lol @ taking commentators seriously. also, cocks.
>> Anonymous
>>16121

>if they were to draft a plaer with a bad attitude, would they then become a less classy organization?

Yes. A team that has five respectable players is more classy than one that has four. That's why when the Spurs had Rodman in the 90's they were overall labeled as an unclassy team- which I have no problem with. Between the coach and the other teammates- including the team captain- if you can't manage the discipline of one person then you aren't a classy team.

>also, you are a spurs fan, so you are automatically biased. being a fan isn't a bad thing, but it does distort your perception of your team.

Not really. Note I never said the Spurs were the classiest TEAM in the league. I said Duncan is the classiest PLAYER and the the team overall is much more legit than a lot of the other teams that get a lot of buzz but compromise class for it (notably the Lakers, Mavs and Detroit among others). I do have a pretty healthy respect for the Suns and Rockets as far as ethics though.

>if you think the spurs can do no wrong

>everyone knows ginobili is a shameless flopper
Yeah, Ginobili got a lot of flack for flopping years ago. If you've followed the Spurs at all recently- which I'm sure you haven't since you obviously hate them to the point of delusion- you'd know that it's a near non-existent occurance now. Get with the times and stop basing your prejudices on a team you don't even watch.

>Bowen is a dirty defender
In a league that stylistically focuses and lauds offensive play, it's increasingly rare to see people play defense with the same intensity that most everyone plays offense with. Especially if you're not a center, which are the main defense force and shot-blockers. Bowen doesn't let people have easy shots- sorry to disappoint you, not everyone's style involves scoring 40 points a game at the expense of being a non-factor on defense. Again, I've yet to see any credible political analyst or commentator say besides compliments on Bowen's defense.

>How the hell do critics, let alone anyone for that matter, know if someone other than themselves is doing anything on purpose or not?

Maybe because Bowen himself has said in multiple interviews that he doesn't do it on a purpose? And that even if someone who makes it his job to criticize Bowen believes him and doesn't believe it's intentional, then you're just a deluded fuck who sees what he wants to see without regarding to common sense?

The Amare Stoudamire incident where he bawww'd that Bowen kicked him was quickly dismissed after they took a look at the replay. Stoudamire finds something to complain about with every team. The Incident where Bowen accidentally kneed Steve Nash, Steve Nash accepted his apology on the spot and refused the notion in an interview that Bowen did it out of malice.

Seriously who'd be dumb enough to admit to playing dirty? I know as hell Bowen isn't. It could be accident, it could be purpose, we don't know for sure.
