In a harris poll of what your favorite sport is, Hockey is ranked above Basketball.

http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=866

This is good news for hockey fans, and even thought it doesn't account for second favorites (Hockey may have more Die hard fans who list it as their favorite, but less overall because people don't watch it casually) or potential (What would happen if Hockey and Basketball were marketed equally) I still think things are looking up.

Get Hockey off Versus channel, though. Jesus Christ.

Very good news.

And the worst that ever happens in an NHL off season are drunken wife-beaters and gamblers.

And sometimes Danny Heatley kills his best friend.

Well, the Finals had good ratings on CBS, and its popularity as far as "Favorites" go is higher than basketball. We'll see how the league grows in the next 5 years.

Hockey needs to go back to ESPN before Melrose becomes a commentator again.

NHL was getting shit ratings on ESPN as it was. ESPN didn't give a crap about the league, even less so when they got their hands on some NBA coverage.

If for some reason ESPN ever picks it back up, it'll be relegated to a couple of ESPN2 games a week and a few ABC games here and there. It'll be the same thing as what the NHL has going with NBC/Versus. Most people who don't give a shit now still won't give a shit, the people that do care find a way to watch now anyway, and the people who actually will start caring now that its on ESPN(2) are quite few in number, and are faggots for not caring until that point.
