If Kobe Bryant gets the MVP, it's a microcosm of just what is wrong with the NBA.
>> Anonymous
Celtsfag here.

He deserves it, not Lebron.
>> Anonymous
You're an idiot. Kobe Bryant NOT having won MVP yet is what's wrong with the NBA. Single-handedly leading his team to the first round of the playoffs (albeit losing to a better team in the first round) and now he's leading a 50-win team that has a chance to advance to the finals, and win.

Kobe is the MVP.

Chris Paul etc.

Kobe
CP3
Lebron

Chris Paul is doing what Kobe's doing and better, but with less talent. If New Orleans wins the West, it'd be a crime to deny Paul the MVP.

Kobe will get another technical and be done for his run this year for mvp.

I'm confused, last year they gave the MVP to the best player on the best team (Dirk), but this year we are giving it to the best player in the league? Shouldn't KG be getting the MVP?

KG or CP3

Whichever star's team wins the west.

The east is JV.

Yes, let's award the MVP to a rapist.

Kobe being a rapist has no bearring on him being the best player in the NBA it's MVP award not the Man of the Year award.

also KG missed too many games to win MVP

Everyone is missing that Kobe led his team despite them being destroyed with injuries. If Bynum, Ariza, and Pau didn't get hurt the Lakers would be way out in front in the west. But, Kobe has kept them in the hunt for the first seed despite the injuries. Not too mention his own injury problems.
>> Anonymous
>>54871
You're missing the fact that LeBron has kept his team in the playoff hunt, even though the rest of the team is a bunch of retarded white guys, and meanwhile Chris Paul has kept his team in the playoff hunt, despite the entire team sucking.

As a Lakersfag i must say PP is one of the greatest Celtics ever. A lesser man would have whined for a trade years ago. Sticking it out with that team for all those years shows you what kind of guy he is, I really respect Superstars who stay with one team a majority of their carrer. It will be an absolute crime if his number 34 is not retired by that team even if he wins a championship or not.

I hope Kobe opt out of his contract end of next year. Think of the possibilities, playing with Lebron James, or Dwight Howard, even Greg Oden if he doesn't turn out to be a bust.

LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy, Greg Oden and Kobe Bryant. I came'd. Yeah Kobe will be 30-31.

I believe I already answered this.

We have different standards of greatness I suppose.
>> Kilgamayan !2BklmILFiE
>>55147

Probably.

Though given your train of thought leads me to conclude you think Chauncey Billups is a better player than John Stockton was, I still have to question it.
>> Anonymous
>>55196

Multiple MVP's or at least 1, Multiple Campionships or at least one.

Those are my cretirea.

Shaq(was) and Duncan are the only players I consider Franchise players right now. Garnett and kobe are the next closest. Too early for me to judge lebron.

There are too many great players in nba history for me to put the franchise tag on. I had to make the requirements strict. that means, stockton, malone, barkley and baylor are not FP to me. of course winning a championship doesn't automatically make you a franchise player, you have to dominate the NBA from one point or another and have a stretch of a decade or more of all-star level play.
>> Anonymous
>>55200

how is Kobe not a franchise player by your criteria?

is three championships not good enough?
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
those belong to this man and also no league MVP.
>> Anonymous
>>55205

Oh yeah your right because one player can carry the team. That's why Lebron James is going to win a dynasty right?
>> Anonymous

A lot of people forget he was a major part of the teams that won those. They seem to associate those titles with shaq.

I was just answering the other guys question, by his championships I mean he won the finals MVP and was the center of the team. If kobe wins a championship, finals MVP and regular season MVP then he is a franchise player to me.(could do all three this season)

That's the basis which I judge (all garnett needs is a championship/finals MVP and he's also a FP to me).

By my definition David robinson is not a franchise player, which sucks because he was my favorite player when I was a kid, and that's too bad. I want to separate the great players from the legendary one's.
like these guys

to make it clear, in your opinion Reggie Miller wasn't a franchise player for the Pacers ?
>> Anonymous
>>54663
>it's a microcosm of just what is wrong with the NBA.

Niggers?
>> Anonymous
>>55256

but some of those players you consider franchise players, have had the help of a supporting cast to win them championships. Other players have not.

For example, we have Player A on team 1 and Player A on team 2.

Now when he's on team 1, he has a great supporting cast, and is able to win a championship. On team 2, however, he's the only good player on his team and can never win the championship.

Now, according to your definition, in the first situation, he'd be considered a franchise player.

But in the 2nd situation, he wouldn't be considered a franchise player.

Now everything here is considered a constant here (Player A, the coaching), except for the supporting cast.

Therefore, the thing that makes and breaks a franchise player would be the supporting cast and the chemistry of the team.

Sorry, i just find your logic faulty

The winner has to be Chris Paul...He has less talent on his team and is putting the Hornets at the top of the West.

Tyson Chandler and David West < Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol

If Steve Nash can win 2 MVPs in a row for what he did in Phoenix, then Chris Paul deserves an MVP for what he is currently doing in New Orleans.

Yours is based on opinion too. Your assuming that palyer 2 wouldn't win and you just don't know)the only way to prove that is to put Tim duncan on the Clippers(through his entire carrer) and see what happens(or some other bad team).

Look, We have different definitions about what a franchise player is and that's fine, you don't have to except my definition. Franchise player to me is to be the best, win championships, and be the best player in the finals. along with a hall of fame carrer.

Franchise:
bird, magic, kareem, duncan, shaq, moses malone, russel, chamberlain, jordan, mikan, olajuwan.

not franchise:
barkley, malone, stockton, miller, dr. j, cousy, baylor, garnett, bryant, iverson, robinson, ewing, west, goodrich, etc. (they're great players, but do not belong with the first guys on the list).

Regular season MVP
Finals MVP
Championship
Hall of Famer
All-NBA 1st team 5 times or more

Meet those 5 creiteria and your a franchise player to me.

Only duncan has done that, garnett and Kobe haven't, that's fact. Everything else you said is unknown. Garnett could have 10 rings or no rings if he was a spur instead of a timberwolf, we don't know. All we could do is see what is directly in front of us. If you replace Russel with duncan, would duncan have won 11 championships? WE DON"T KNOW.

Know you tell me why Kobe or Garnett are better than Duncan.

1999 championship and the 2007 championship had completely different rosters except for Duncan. I think Duncan may be the only player that has one multiple championships without another hall of fame player. ginobli and parker are good but they would be average without duncan and there certainly not hall of famers.

Anyway Neither of them have accomplished what duncan has, however I think both are on the verge to become FP, garnett probably.
