Well it's finally happening like I knew it would, the Rays are a damn good team. I'm a Red Sox fan and I've always liked the Rays as a team (don't know how you could hate them)anyway....they are starting to part a real good team together like much of us knew they would. The starting pitching right now is GREAT and wait until Price is pitching in the majors. The bullpen is holding in there but the young bats are the keys. Upton and Longoria are scary and are just starting out, wait a few years and they will be scary as all hell.

Lonely Rays Fan, You got yourself a great team there. I look forward many years of battling with you for the division.

Fuck the Rays. I hope they never finish a season above .500

Also, they're fucking gay for taking the Devil part out of their name.

i've never met a red sox fan that didn't like the rays.

Soxfag here. I have secretly rooted for the Rays for a few years now. They always had a pretty decent offense that could be great at any time. Only problem has been pitching. Things are great now, and maybe they'll stay that way, but a few concerns:
Troy Percival, can he continue being this good?
Andy Sonnanstine, is it a matter of time before he gets lit up?
Edwin Jackson, the enigma
Matt Garza, can he become as good as we think he can?
Is Dan Wheeler still an effective reliever?

Outside of that, if Jackson and Garza can get it and keep it together (an Garza shut down the Yanks tonight it seems), with Shields and Kazmir as the front of the rotation, they might have the best 1-2 combo in the AL East, which is really weird to say. Seriously. The Red Sox have Beckett, and an occasionally good Dice-K. The rest of the rotation is pretty enigmatic. Same with the Yankees. Wang is a pretty damn good pitcher, but Pettite got really worked last year and there is no telling if he can keep it up. The rest of their rotation is in flux (yes I know Mussina has been doing well). Orioles will fail. Blue Jays also have a good rotation anchored by the beast known as Halladay.

The Rays have a pretty good shot to finish second if they can keep the pitching staff healthy and effective, because they WILL score runs.

>Troy Percival, can he continue being this good?

Not 40 saves good, but like, 30-35 is reasonable/

>Andy Sonnanstine, is it a matter of time before he gets lit up?

He gets litten up 20% of his starts, but his other 80% make it worth it. But when he's hittable, he's VERY hittable.

>Edwin Jackson, the enigma
I think he's finally starting to get it, and will finish with a personal best 4.2 ERA. facepalm.jpg

>Matt Garza, can he become as good as we think he can?

Not an ace, but a solid #2 is likely.

>Is Dan Wheeler still an effective reliever?

Yes.

btw, Suck it Yankees fans, 10 straight at home.

Also, Shields > Kazmir. I'll keep saying it every time someone says Kazmir is better than Shields. Until Kid K shows me he can take over a game for 7 to 9 innings and absolutely dominate like Shields' has, Shields > Kazmir.

I agree. Shields has shown he is the man right now. Kazmir has not.

LOL no. I'm not from New York, hate the Yanks, and the East in general. I just hate the Rays. Plain and simple.

That was one of the contractional obligations they had to follow when they made a deal with the Devil during the off-season.

Fuck the Rays. They are a shitty team and they will remain a shitty team. They are getting lucky that's all, soon they will start to lose liek they always do and the Yankees will start to hit. Once A-Rod and Hughes get back the AL East is over.

I can understand liking a team in your main teams division.

I'm a Brewers fan who likes the Pirates.

8+ wins a year = I like this team.

Shields could end up an all-star. Kazmir will end up on the DL again.

either you aren't a brewers fan or you're a fucking bandwagon fan. any real brewers fan would hate the pirates because the brewers never fucking win in pnc park. yeah we can dominate them at home every time but why does it matter if the reverse happens on the road?

I hate people who "respect" other teams in the same division their team is in.
As a Giantsfags I hate with a passion the Skins, Eagles, and Cowgirls. Thats who it should be for everyone in every sport. You guys agree?

Couldn't agree with you more, but I love this team. I am primarily a Mets fan, but this is my favorite AL team. Must be my attraction to losers.

Carlos Pena is a monster, and Shields has been ridiculous. This team is just so much fun to watch (as they always have been), so I am glad they have finally got something started.

Mets and Rays World Series, anyone?

Another day, another win for the RAYS. SUCK ON THAT CHOWDA-HEADS!

American East Standings:
Tampa Bay
Boston
Baltimore
Toronto
NY Yankees

If Boston was on top I'd be all "all is how it should be"

Ray's are really good this season, but I still believe if the jays offense starts to roll, they could win east. Easily have best starting rotation.!
