The funny thing, once the purses get high enough, all the pathetic white drywallers will get ko'ed by black kids who cannot read. So MMA < Boxing.

(Implied message- ultimate fighters are all tomato cans. Dana White included. There is a boxer name of Pavlik who doesn't chickenshit and kinda wins lots.)

MMA is gggggAayayay.

NO STUPID MMA IS CHECKERS. IT ENDS FASTER. much like your lovemaking. And I do not hate hate white athletes, I just laff at retards whose previous job was drywall, which is basically everyone in mma. the ghost Pavlik, has fought all kindsa people and continues to win, because boxing is a sport. Shit, Ken Shamrock couldn't even repo my car. Barrera could.

I don't know why you idiots try to turn boxing-versus-MMA into a black-versus-white thing. Are you niggas trying to "keep it real" on teh intarnets or something?

Besides, MMA has a fairly international pool of athletes. It's not just white skinheads competing.
>> Anonymous
>>54883
It's because there are no top level boxers that are American white guys aside from Pavlik. Then factor in the UFC's fan base of young white guys and it starts to create a racial divide.

because blacks fail at everything they do. except for some sports - and i do emphasize SOME - so they like to keep it 'real' by puffing out their chests and boasting.

boxing is just boring, especially heavyweight. 12 rounds of guys punching the other guys gloves. occasionally one will gas out and get pummelled a bit by the other till its stopped and very rarely someone will quite by chance manage to knock the other guy out with a lucky punch.
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
This entire argument is old and full of fail and made up of idiots on both sides who don't understand a single thing about the other sport.
>> Anonymous
>>55725
This it what it has reduced to. Heavyweight boxing was something to be excited about back in the day. Nowadays your assessment was pretty accurate. But overall boxing is every bit as exciting as mma and vice versa. Also, you're a faggot.
>> Anonymous
The majority of contests in both sports are fucking boring. However each sport occasionally has it's really exciting contests and dramatic moments. I don't believe you can correctly claim that one is better than the other, but i don't think MMA will ever dethrone boxing as the king of combat sports.

I think that mma will eventually gain dominance. All of the current superstars of boxing will likely be the last generation of legitimate boxing superstars. MMA will continue to rise and more and more fighters will gain mainstream popularity eventually making MMA the dominant force in combat sports worldwide. This is not to say that boxing will ever fade into complete obscurity, but it will never be the same force that it was back in the day. Boxing has been on the decline since like 2000, and we all know this to be true. And with the heavyweight division (which has produced some of boxings biggest stars) all but dead, boxing just can't stand against the behemoth that is mixed martial arts. Sorry.
>> Anonymous
>>56317
That's dumb, the big stars of boxing all had to rise to the top they weren't always stars, and new stars will rise up and replace them.

All it takes is for somebody to fuck up everyones shit in the heavyweight division and boxing will hit the big time again. I agree that MMA will only get bigger and more popular but i don't think it'll ever overtake boxing.

We're probably seeing things from different angles though, as i'm a britfag and MMA is practically unwatched here while boxing is prime-time viewing on our biggest sports channel and often prime-time on our most popular channel overall with up to 10-15 million viewers. Whereas MMA is probably a force to be reckned with in America where i'm guessing you're from. Perhaps MMA will be able to challenge boxing over there in a decade or two, but worldwide? I don't think so.
>> Anonymous
>>56326

MMA is not just popular in Amerikkka. It's big in South America and Asia, too. MMA will become big in Europe eventually. UFC has a couple of sell-out shows in England already.
>> Anonymous
>>56326
Yes, I am from America. The popularity of boxing is declining in such a way that I doubt that 5 years from now some new face will be as recognizable in the mainstream as a Hatton or Cotto is today. Once again let me stress that I'm not saying that there will never be another boxing superstar ever. I'm not. I'm just making the point that the future stars of MMA will most likely overshadow them. That isn't the case today. Stars like Mayweather still have way more star power than say a chuck Liddell. Give it 5 years, I'm willing to bet this will not be the case. Like someone else said, MMA isn't only huge in the US. In South America and Asian countries like Japan MMA is ridiculously huge. It's a freaking virus. This virus is killing making boxing weaker and weaker. The odds of boxing pulling through and conquering this sickness aren't very good.
>> Anonymous
Ok, i understand what you're saying. There's no point me making any further argument because there's nothing i can say to persuade you that you're wrong and there's nothing you can say to persuade me that i'm wrong. I agree to disagree.

You guys are actually having an intellectual conversation about this but this thread is basically 90% "Nuh-uh, your sport is gay."

This argument is fucking old.
>> Anonymous
Boxing is still very relevant as it is an effective fighting style. MMA incorporates boxing. Boxing does not incorporate MMA. Furthermore, it is more limited than other striking styles such as kickboxing or muay tai as you cannot kick. For those who say MMA is dryhumping, than they are obviously ignorant of how effective grappling and submissions are. All in all, MMA is just a much more versatile sport with many more options in terms of dismantling an opponent.

Agreed. They wouldn't use boxing if it wasn't effective.

When the western world first became interested in eastern martial arts (18, 1900s?), some westerners noticed shaolin monks practicing boxing. When they said 'wow, wtf' the monks told them 'we use western boxing because it has the fastest, hardest punches.'

So to say one martial art is better than the other is silly. Not only is it completely dependent on the skill of the individual, not to mention countless other factors, it is flexibility that counts.

You put water in the cup, it becomes the cup.

It is important to consider to things if you really want to compare boxing in boxing and boxing in mma. First, most MMA fighters are absolutely terrible boxers and would get mauled by a professional boxer. Second, MMA fights more often than not end up on the ground where boxing is not a factor. And one of the main criticisms of mma is that when it is brought to the ground the fighters will oft fail to be effective so is does indeed devolve into bloody dry humping. In boxing they box. Sometimes they hug.

>>And one of the main criticisms of mma is that when it is brought to the ground the fighters will oft fail to be effective so is does indeed devolve into bloody dry humping.

Failing to be effective =/= not getting a submission within 6 seconds. Just like a good combo in boxing, it takes time to set up a sub.

And like others have pointed out this shit is getting old.
>> Anonymous
>>56398
It's not getting old at all. And they often do just lay there trying to get ineffective hammerfists from an inch away from the opponents fast while they rest their face in the other guy's tits. It happens very often. Not every humpfest is a setup for a submission.
>> Anonymous
>>56625
This is similar to grappling in boxing, which is also ineffective 99% of the time. I'm not sure if you've ever tried boxing or MMA before, but they're really, REALLY tiring. If you've just exerted a shitload of energy with a big attack, dryhumping/grappling is the best way to take a breather without getting hit.
