No AFL thread?

Where's the diversity!

Well anyway. The hawks are going to win this Saturday and i'm going to the Grand Final.

Hopefully after we'll be celebrating like Dunstall.

i lol'd. i invite you to watch the upcoming mlb postseason or watch some real football, the nfl season just started again and it provides us with a lot of entertainment...

Yeah I know of both of these leagues. I lived in the states near St. Louis and went for the rams + the Cards for a while. I was there when the Cardinals won the world series.

In my opinion, AFL is more well rounded. Meaning you need to be extremely athletic (Running ~20km's a game) AND need to know a huge skill set (Tackling, kicking, handballing etc).
Like in MLB and NFL you can just be a fat fuck pitcher or hitter. NFL defensive line. They both require skills.

Or you can be really athlethic. Like a line runner? (is that the name?). But that almost requires no skills...just sprinting + catching...

Now every once and a while you get people that can do both, and I do admire those, but not everyone needs to be superior in both sectors.

Kangaroo.....Thanks for further weakening my respect for Americans.

Amerifag here, big American football fan and Aussie football is easily one of the coolest sports I have ever seen on TV. I wish it would catch on here in the US. Way better than fucking soccer.

he just said that he lived in st.louis when the cards won, that was kinda exciting. there's more to sports than watching someone hit someone else at full speed.

it's usually the offensive line that's fat and overweight, but even the overweight defensive line players (not all but most) can do 40 yards in 4.5 secs, which is kinda fast for a 260lbs. + player. i believe you're referring to a running back when you said "line runner" that position requires more than just pure speed b/c in the nfl being fast is not going to help you at all if you can't break tackles or "ram" across the defensive line, a lot of these players have great lateral movement which allows them to have big plays and that requires more than just speed, you need good instincts and great eyes and that's not even crediting the ppl blocking and making a path so the rb can get through.

Very true. Defensive Linemen, especially ends, are infinitely more athletic than the O-Line, since DE and DTs actually have to have some (not a tremendous amount) speed to get to the quarterback/halfback once they get through the blocks. The Offensive Linemen really just need strength and weight is an advantage. However, O-lineman actually have to be pretty smart at the pro level (and at some of the better college programs) to recognize the blitzes and react in time.
In fact, Centers consistently score the highest on the Wonderlic.
