Most of our leagues aren't big enough to necessiate smaller, altenate league beneath them, though I really do think we're on a tipping point, except it would mean that billionaires who own teams like the Texas Rangers or the Arizona Cardinals would have to lose money, and they would never stand for that. In America, all billionaires are above the law, or any moral compass.
I DO hope the MLS eventually follows the European model, and gives the other American sports a real role model. But Canada will never have that many teams; they don't have enough people, nor money. Just look how the U.S. has raped the NHL and made it our bitch.
