Admit it, you want to see this fucker in at least three or four of your teams' games this year. It could be like wearing throwbacks, just a once in a while kind of thing.

And not win.

videos of it in use anywhere?

What a piece of shit it was, it looked like a black void floating around the rink and a laser beam being fired at a goalie.

PROTIP: There are more Canadians in the NHL than people of all other nationalities combined. It's a complete and utter impossibility for Canadians to not win in the NHL.

And yet teams based in America keep winning the Cup, funny eh?

HOW COULD THIS NOT WORK
>> Anonymous
>>184975

Anaheim has more canadians on the team then any other in the NHL bitch. and detroit is half canadians and half europeans, there was not a signle american playing for them in the playoffs this year.

where's your country now bitch.
>> Anonymous
>>184975

has nothing to do with anything, most of the players are still canadian.

there are 4 times as many american teams in the nhl as there are canadian, of course there's going to be some discrepancy.

As a Canadian Wingsfag I have to correct you on that. Brian Rafalski is from Michigan.

PROtip: If you were to combine every American Based team's Championships vs every Canadian Based team's Championships then who would have the most?
>> Anonymous
>>184975
Those American teams win the Cup because of the efforts of Canadian owners, Canadian GMs, Canadian coaches, and Canadian players. Hell, teams like the Coyotes have fanbases largely made up of Canadian expats - Coyotes/Flames games in Phoenix often have just as many if not more Calgary fans in the crowd. The vast majority of these 'American' teams are American in name only.

And fuck, Detroit is right on the border. You seriously think that Windsor is completely and utterly devoid of Wings fans?

Canadian SC wins: 43
US SC wins: 40

This doesn't count wins by no longer existing teams like the original Ottawa Senators franchise.

Canadafag bawwwwwwwwwwwwing his country doesn't even have a decent team anymore. Enjoy history, teams here will be winning the cup from now on, until the habs move out of montreal, and flames out of calgary, and you have no reason to watch the NHL anymore.

You'll think it's fine, except you'll be stuck watching shit hockey by scrubs like Russia does now, cuz the NHL will steal all your good players.

DURRRRR THOSE ARE CANADIAN BORN PLAYERS THAT MEANS IM AWESOME!

Wrong. You suck, mostly because you're canadian.
>> Anonymous
Bet on it, they'll probably bring it back for either the All-Star Game or for the Winter Classic. Yes, they'll combine WC-release vintage jerseys with a space-age puck. And it will be terrible.

I'm in Windsor, Joe Louis Arena is about 300 meters from the border. Detroit is a crappy team now?
>> Anonymous
>>185018
Detroit is in Michigan, USA. You can drive there sure. Just wait til we start making you use your passport, and figure out how often you're going there and start disallowing it.

Suddenly a thread about how cool a glowing pucks turns into an argument about player nationality

welcome to /sp/

>habs move out of montreal

Troll laughably detected. Look at the attendance numbers one of these days, if Florida and the New York Islanders can continue their existences with the attendance they scrape together, the Habs aren't ever leaving.

Drive? I could WALK to the arena. And I bring the passport anyway.

You got it wrong, the glowing puck is incredibly stupid.
>> Anonymous
>>185011
Six out of thirty teams in the NHL account for over a third of the entire league's revenue. The NHL would be committing financial suicide by 'leaving' Canada, at which point the best hockey leagues will be the ones IN Canada.
>> Anonymous
>>185034

Yeah OK call the glowing puck stupid and you're calling fox stupid

Tell me what's not cool about a glowing puck that turns into a laser when shot at a goalie? If they kept using that puck more fans would be drawn to hockey
>> Anonymous
>>185038

yea but 12 of the last 13 teams that have won a stanley cup had more american players averaging 2 points a game in the playoffs than canadian
>> Anonymous
>>185045
One, FOX Sports sucked ass for hockey almost as bad as VS sucks ass for hockey now. US hockey broadcasting has always been shit, TSN and/or CBC does it better than any American attempt so far.

Two, because it turns hockey into some kind of retarded video game. If a stupid red flashing streak is the make-or-break factor in drawing in viewership, I'd say those people can go fuck themselves and be entertained by something more suitable to their mindset, like a yo-yo or a jack-in-the-box or a Flinstones playphone.
>> Anonymous
>>185066

Three, I wasn't being serious fox is the worst network for everything you're fucking retarded and get troll'd really easily glowing puck sucked US hockey players are better than canadian 18-1
>> Anonymous
>>185054
What does that have to do with 'if you remove canadian markets, THE. NHL. WILL. DIE.'? I can just as easily say "Only two SC-winning captains in the entire history of the tournament have not been Canadian", it means nothing in terms of the existence of a pro hockey league. Throw points and other irrelevant numbers as much as you want, the bottom line is that the NHL's very survival is dependent on Canadian markets and viewership.
>> Anonymous
>>185074

Because Fucking 18 US teams to have 6 canadians on the active roster make 22% more than teams with more than 6

>18-1

I still contend that Pittsburgh's 14-6 was more epic a failure. The numbers don't look like they reflect it, but any team can lose one game, the Patriots just had shitty timing for their loss. A seven-game series is designed to truly determine the better team in all aspects. Pittsburgh had more than enough opportunity to avenge their choke and failed at it not once, but FOUR times. I concede that it will never overtake 18-1 in the mind of /sp/ but I know indisputably that it was the more epic failure.

the pens didnt collapse, the red wings were the better team, jeez.....and BTW, jiri huddler FTW (vets go ved vings!)

Seriously though. While the Penguins defeat was lulz-worthy, they simply weren't as good as Detroit and that should have been obvious even before the finals began.

Rafalski's from Dearborn, Chelios and Brett Lebda are from Chicago, and if you're counting them, Justin Abdelkader is from Muskegon MI, and Jimmy Howard's from New York.
