Looks like spygate never existed

Looks like yeah it did, those tapes still gave a huge advantage to the 18-1triots. And there was one of an AFC Championship game where they came back in the second half. Pretty sure that's thanks to spygate.

Don't forget the faggot cock sucking refs that called that bullshit tuck rule.

BRADY FUMBLED!

Eli Manning should have been considered within the grasp on his 'miracle play'.

It evens out.

It evens out with the tuck rule MAYBE. But spygate > a correct ref no-call. Calling that would have been the biggest bullshit ever.

Huge advantage my ass. Is videotaping signals the reason the Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls? The reason my high school team won most of its games?

Teams have been doing this for fucking ever, on all goddamn levels, and most places its not even illegal. Fuck, advance scouting usually does this when their teams isn't even playing in the goddamn game. At some NFL stadiums you can bring a video camera and do it yourself.

They violated a league memo issued in 2006. That's it. This isn't some huge fucking infraction like Mark McGwire juicing or Colorado trading sex for recruits. I haven't seen this much whinging over nothing since the first year instant replay came back.

Apparently the reason Walsh held onto the tapes so long was he was hoping to use them "once he became a coach".

I smell one big ass blacklist in this boy's future.

>>99325
What does he need to be on a blacklist for? He's obviously unusably paranoid, or simply incompetent. He went from the video department of an NFL team to being an assistant golf pro in Hawaii. What's the use of blacklisting somebody that can't find a football job somewhere between Boston and LA?

You're an idiot and know nothing about the game of football. Taping the calls they make, the formations they're in, the yards/down to go, and time left gives you an incredible advantage at predicting their next move.

>Taping the calls they make, the formations they're in, the yards/down to go, and time left gives you an incredible advantage at predicting their next move.

And how is that different from what other teams do in scouting out their opponents for future reference?
>> Anonymous
>>99364
Scouting isn't on tape so you can easily see all of those things whenever you want. Even watching game film, most plays you can't see the other teams signals or the time left.
>> Anonymous
>>99367
Either you are a coach in a league where the game film and scouting is very slapdash, or you are the one that is clueless. Even for JV, game film cuts from the scoreboard to the sideline to the field of play, to keep track of information like down/distance, substitutions, and then the play.

In many high school leagues, where teams can't afford advance scouting/don't have enough volunteers, teams will actually SWAP these tapes, both JV and Varsity, a week before the game through the mail.

If you didn't have this information, how the fuck could you game plan?

That's why you're supposed to do it. Every Tuesday at my high school the defensive starters had to stay after practice and watch all the game film of our upcoming opponent. Otherwise we'd just be going on the field blind.

Then both of your teams are cheating, as the only thing game tapes ever show is what goes on on the field of play. You aren't blind when you see that, but you also aren't at such a great advantage.
>> Anonymous
>>99388
According to whose rules are they cheating? I have never seen game film done any other way, by my team(s) or any other.

Football as a game is primarily the studying of film. I think all the fans jabbering about unfair advantages would be surprised, if not shocked, to learn just how much film football coaching staffs churn through on a weekly basis, especially on the NFL level. You use it to evaluate the other team as well as your own, as there is too much information on a football field to see all in real time, as the 7-man officiating crews have demonstrated over the years.

The only big no-no on all levels of play is that you can't use film to give yourself an advantage in-game. You can spy all you want with binoculars and notepads on the opposing sideline - that's why OCs cover their mouths when they send in the play - but you can't use video cameras and shotgun mics. That was basically the guideline (taping must take place in an area with 4 walls and a roof) the Pats violated - they took signal film from down on their sideline, where theoretically Belichick or another coach could amble over and take a look at it for help during the game. But there was no evidence that the Pats violated the spirit of the actual rule; in fact, Matt Walsh said that at no time was the film used in game, just for future ones.

Basically Spygate is the football equivalent of a rolling stop.

My old HS coach used to look at film atleast 10 hours a day. I can imagine Bellicheck would be sitting there watching film for 20 hours.

If only my team had been that good. We went 11-1 once though, junior year, against many schools that were far bigger than us. Good times.

I'M SURE THERE WAS NO ADVANTAGE GAINED BY TAPING THE OTHER TEAMS SIGNALS. I MEAN WHY ELSE WOULD THE PATRIOTS KNOWINGLY VIOLATE A LEAGUE ISSUED MEMO IF NOT TO GAIN NOTHING!?!?!

Holy fuck do none of you know how signals work on a professional level

Teams change their signals from week to week, half to half, and even quarter to quarter. It's up to the players of the team to know what each signal means and be able to change it on a moment's notice. ok cool we have one set of signals (maybe). Doesn't help when the defense begins changing the way they signal shit when they come back from half.
