I would welcome a coaching change, but if the Leafs get Carolina's current GM for the upcoming season (as is speculated), that may not happen.

That would piss me off. They shouldn't have hired him in the first place. He had a losing record with Carolina.

Think Sundin'll go?
>> Anonymous

I hope not. But then, he'll just be a rental to whichever team he would end up at, and the Leafs would be stupid to not go after him in the offseason. Especially if they get some excellent players in exchange for him.

Who do you want to see traded? I'd like to see them get rid of Raycroft (lol), McCabe (underproducing), Kubina ($5 million a year rofl) and Belak (good for nothing goon).

They've really gotta work with all the young guys they have. There's a lot of potential. I'm really excited to see what Robbie Earl can do. He reminds me of of Wellwood.

Raycroft (obv.), Wellwood, Kubina (assuming another team would want his retarded contract)... and I like the rumour of the Isles interested in taking back McCabe and Blake.

I have to disagree with you on Belak, though. He's essentially useless, yes, but he's a great team guy that's paid very little... and tbh I just think he's awesome. >:3

Belak always makes me laugh, with his interviews on TSN, and his comments (like about tlusty's nudie shots)

Anyways, too bad ferguson pretty much screwed us with his god damned no trade agreements. Personally I'd have no problems with a fire sale, and to tank the season for a higher draft pick... but neither is likely to happen, so we'll have to settle for trading anyone we can, even if for only a little while (ie sundin as a rental)
>> Leafsfan
>>3908

Wellwood?! Are you serious? He got almost 90 points over the previous two seasons! He's got a ton of potential, he just needs a decent coach.

And if you're basing this on point totals this season... nobody's having a stellar season except for Sundin .
>> Anonymous
>>3955
Antropov? You can't say he's not having a good year (at least, relatively speaking).

The reason I suggest Wellwood is mostly out of concern for how his health will hold up, and yes, I'm partially basing it on this season, but he IS a good young player and if other GMs view him like you do we might be able to get a nice return for him.
>> Leafsfan
>>3942

The rental thing isn't going to happen.

What did Belak say about Tlusty? I don't watch TSN unless there's a game, I usually watch Sportsnet because I like Kypreos.

"It's tough in this city to censorize anything," said Leafs forward Wade Belak on Thursday. "I've been known to take out the trash naked from time to time. Now with all these allegations with Jiri I don't know if I'm going to feel safer out there."

It's a possibility... Sundin and Fletcher aren't discussing it anymore in front of the media, but they are still talking... I can't imagine their meetings are just Sundin berating Fletcher nonstop, so I imagine something is happening. But who knows.

I forget exactly, but Belak basically downplayed the situation, saying something like "everyone's been caught with their pants down, and now I dont know if I'll feel safe taking my trash to the curb without any pants on"

In general though, in most of his interviews and that one TSN segment he had, he seems like a pretty fun and easygoing person. Granted, that's not going to really help a team win, but he's definately one of my leaf favourites.

I hope I get to see a Leafs game live some time in my life. Will prolly see them in Boston or NY before I'm able to see them in T.O., though.

Not really related, but what's the point of having Sportsnet in all timezones through satellite if they're just gonna black out the Leafs game on Sportsnet Ontario? East coast fucking sucks, and the only game that's never blacked out is the Sens. Fuck that, and thank goodness for the people who stream games online.

Where might I find these streams? The only games shown on television here are Ducks & Kings.
>> Leafsfan
>>4368

FUCKING AWESOME PROTIP: I lived in Toronto until December '07. Then I moved back home to Cornwall. All Leafs games are blacked out except for HNIC. Also, LeafsTV isn't available here.

I called up Bell Expressvu and bitched and they said there was nothing they could do. I asked them, what if I change my billing address to my former Toronto address? She said that won't work because we have home phone. However, she can change my service address.

eg. The bill goes to my Father in Cornwall, but as far as Bell is concerned, the equipment is located at my old address in Toronto. Now I get EVERY Leafs game, and I get LeafsTV too.

I'm pretty sure I got lucky and got a good rep. If you're lucky, you might be able to find a random Toronto address and do what I did. If it doesn't work, just call back the next day.
>> Anonymous

Also, I lived in Toronto for a year and a half and I never went to a game. I really wish I had. I'm probably moving back to Toronto in about a year though.

I was lucky to get to see two Leafs games in Ottawa. One game (the one where Berard suffered that horrendous eye injury), we were about 6 or 7 rows up and a little bit off of centre. Second game was lulz. Almost in the nosebleed section.

I won box seat tickets when I worked at Radio Shack for a Sens game. But it was the Sens and the Penguins so I didn't really care. I got absolutely loaded and stuffed my face for free though.

also some sopcast broadcasts require you use VLC... I don't exactly remember how, but you open the stream with sopcast then launch VLC from sopcast

It's an hour Southeast of Ottawa. The NHL considers this the Ottawa valley, but really, it's the Seaway valley which includes Brockville and Kingston.

Blackouts of Leafs games in Cornwall have been an issue since the Senators showed up in the 90s. My stepdad even wrote wrote a bunch of letters, one was sent to Don Cherry.

The Sens are a great team, but I fucking hate hate hate the Organization, and ESPECIALLY the fans. They're the most obnoxious fuckers about it. They treat you like shit if you're a Leafs fan. Well fuck you, I've been watching them since I was about four years old. From what I can tell, most Sens fans aren't even real hockey fans because they either started watching because of them, or they abandoned the team the initially cheered for.

Typical Sens fan: "HAHA, YOU FUCKING LOST TO THE LIGHTNING. CAN'T EVEN BEAT ONE OF THE WORST TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE! FUCK THE LEAFS SUCK! HAHAHAHA!"
Me: Dude... we ARE one of the worst teams in the league this season. What do you expect?

Typical Sens fan: "HAHA, WE BEAT YOU. FUCK THE LEAFS SUCK! HAHAHAHA!"
Me: You're the second best team in the league! We're like second worst!
Typical Sens fan: "DAMN RIGHT! HAHAHA!"

I think the only fans who are more obnoxious are Yankees fans - I remember a Blue Jays game last season where Alex Rios hit a home run, and someone in the stands threw a beer bottle at him while he was rounding the bases.

Doug Stanhope said it the best: "Cheering for the Yankees is like going to a casino and cheering for the house." Just change that to Senators.

Let me start by saying I don't hate the Leafs. I may have issues with the organization, but I don't hate them.

y biggest problem with the team is their lack of interest in winning. The Ontario Teachers Pension group is o0nly interested in one thing: making money. Whether it be through condos or having the most expensive seats in the NHL, they gouge the team for all its worth.

As long as it makes a buck, they could care less if the team, gets better. They figured out long ago that even if the team goes 0-82-0, they will always have sellouts. In their eyes, why bother being successful?
>> Leafsfan
>>4546

Actually no, I will cheer for any Canadian team. Even the Canadiens. Remember the Vancouver vs. Dallas playoff game that went to what, four overtimes? I was watching that until 2 in the morning, sitting on the edge of my seat when I should have been studying.

But I will never cheer for the Senators.

Could you tell me why you hate the organization though? I can understand the hate for the fans, but why the organization?

They've generally been committed to keeping a winning product on the ice, have drafted very well, and have been active in the Ottawa community since their inception.

Whats the reason?
>> Anonymous
>>4567
exactly. there's no urgency to dramatically improve your team if you're making the most money out of all the other NHL teams, and selling ridiculously priced tickets, with no ebb in sight. As long as familiar faces like Sundin and Tucker or whoever sell tickets, theres no reason to move them.

As a sens fan, I actually want Toronto to be competitive. Having a competitive opponent in the same province sure makes for a heated rivalry. Plus I wish we'd get a chance to try and win a playoff series against you.

Sorry, I think I misspoke. Although, I'm sure they have at least a little to do with Leaf games being blacked out in my area. The Leafs are the only team that gets blacked out in my area. I chalk it up to management, especially coaching. Believe me, the Leafs have some incredible young plays with a fuckload of potential, but it's not being moulded proplerly.

Nik Antropov was I think second in scoring for the first quarter of the season, then it went downhill.

Kyle Wellwood had almost 90 points in 130 games in the previous two seasons, and this guy's like 5'9"! He was doing great, then it all went downhill this season.

Darcy Tucker was among the top players in power play goals last season, he had 15 PPG. He just got his 11th and 12th goals of the season on Saturday. He was a 20+ scorer last year, again, downhill.

Jason Blake scored 44 fucking goals last year with the Islanders, and he's nowhere near that this years.

I could go on, but these are the strongest examples.

It's fucking bad coaching and I can't wait for Paul Maurice to get his ass fired this summer.
