Every good Eastern conference player not playing for Montreal

So pretty much every player not playing for montreal?

How about players that will go, but don't deserve to?

Leads the league in giveaways, and I'm not talking about Ovechkin.

I THINK OVECHKIN NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF JEANS

The worst part about the fan-balloting is that no one associated with the NHL seems to want to come out and call bullshit. The official blog doesn't say much more of it than: "lol ballot-stuffing is legal, maybe you guise should feel bad for not voiting more :awesome.jpg:"

That being said, however, I always enjoyed the skill competition more than the actual game.

should be the starting goalie for the East

He better go, too bad he's being outvoted by pylons like Phaneuf. Shea Weber should go too.

ITT All-Star RAAAAAGE

Savard is tied for second in the league in both Points and Assists, but he's 8th in the Eastern Conference voting for forwards.

What the fuck

Andrei Markov, D (MTL)

Leads defensemen in fan-voting.

He also commits 1.55 turnovers per game.

That's who I thought, but I wasn't sure, because not sending him would be ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS

Shea Weber. but thank god its not just all fan voting.
And maybe Dan Ellis if he can play like he did last year.

>>491773
Unbiased outside opinion, i would rather have Phaneuf on my team then Souray.

Simon Gagne has as many points in fewer games and has four short-handed goals.

He's not even on the leaderboard.

Correction: Gagne now has one more point in fewer games.

The voting system allows you to vote as many times as you want, by definition ballot-stuffing is illegal. In any case, the voting is FOR THE STARING LINEUP ONLY. Cindy and Ovechkin and all those guys are still going to be there.

It's a shitty idea having the fans decide in the first place, they're all likely just voting for people on their team anyway. It should be players doing the ballot, no votes allowed for players on their own team.

>ballot stuffing is legal

self-fix
>> Anonymous
>>491773
Wait. Are you saying Sheldon Souray ISN'T a pylon?
>> Anonymous
>>491813
The whole point was: despite ballot-stuffing being legal, it doesn't make it less retarded to just ignore it.

And, just because you're a ballot nominee doesn't mean you deserve to be in the All-Star game. Or do you really believe Koivu, Kovalev, and Tanguay *all* belong in the All-Star Game? Those extra Canadiens starting when they may not deserve to attend at all denies spots to lesser known players.

>>491824
What does it matter? I'm a Wingsfag and I'd rather not see these players wasting energy and travel on a boring zero-contact game that has absolutely no importance, even if most of the Wings eligible for the ballot are more than deserving of playing there. Even if they all get voted into the starting lineup, expect a lot of them to decline attending the game for that very reason. They could (and SHOULD, judging by Detroit's games so far) be using that time to getting their defense sorted out, I'd much rather have that then have them play a game I have zero interest in watching.

Your argument is idiotic. There is nothing that a coaching staff can work out over the All-Star break that couldn't be fixed over the four months prior.

The All-Star game is far less intense than a team pracitce, and I doubt any team is scheduled to play the preceding Saturday or following Monday. It's nothing more than a flight to Montreal, mess around on the ice for the fans, then a day off at worst.

Also obligatory,
>I have zero interest in watching
>Wingsfag
Not hard to believe since the Joe Louis is empty half the time.

>The All-Star game is far less intense than a team pracitce
Oh boy, that REALLY makes me want to watch the All-Star Game now. Why trek my ass (why should any of the players trek THEIR asses, for that matter) all the way to Montreal when you yourself assert that watching an open practice is a far more satisfying experience?

Call me when the Winter Classic happens, at least it won't be mind-numbingly dull, won't have some shitty E-list musical act during the intermission, and will actually have some kind of relevance to the season.

>Not hard to believe since the Joe Louis is empty half the time.

My mistake, for a moment I was thinking that Detroit's attendance numbers have regularly been top-3 in the entire league for 7 of the last 8 season. Oh wait, THEY ARE.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?year=2009

Maybe you should do some research first, hmm?

Souray: 7G 8A 15 PTS +2
Phaneuf: 3G 11A 14 PTS -6

Souray > Phaneuf, and cheaper too!
>> Anonymous
>>491882DURRR IM AN IDIOT AND I HAD TO MAKE IT THAT MUCH MORE APPARENT

>when you yourself assert that watching an open practice is a far more satisfying experience?
lol wut? Where did I say that, dumbass? I questioned its intensity, as in the hitting and general competitive grit as in the chance any of these players actually strain themselves in the game. There is next to no risk for the players to attend the game.

>Why trek my ass
It's broadcast on TV. You needn't "trek" your fatass any further than your parent's basement.

>why should any of the players trek THEIR asses, for that matter
Why should they pay such insignificant dues for the league that made them famous, really? Sheesh.

>Maybe you should do some research first, hmm?
Maybe Detroit should sell-out its home games for the STANLEY CUP FINALS, hmm?

Bandwagon shithead.

If you are saying Souray is a better defenseman than Phaneuf I am going to have to ask you to leave /sp/ forever. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read and I *hate* the flames.
>> Anonymous
>>491907
Oh gee, please forgive the population of a state that has been in a recession for four years not being able to afford $500 tickets and an hour+ drive down to Detroit.
Besides, they did sell out.
>> Anonymous
>>491934
Dion plays with Jarome Iginla.
Souray plays with.... I dunno. Shawn Horcoff? The fact that Souray's putting up more points on a worse team...

Phaneuf's got the big hits, no doubt, but he also leaves himself out of position and he got torched by the Ducks and Wings in the playoffs.

Correction: two more points in two less games

Just saying, if you're going to complain about a deserving player not making the line-up, pick the more productive player with even less credit given.

You know, instead of just bitching about your favorite player.
>> Anonymous
>>491987
or how about they both deserve to go and I don't know why you're whining about it to me
>> Anonymous
>>491996
Because you sound like a Bruin's bandwagon fanboy when you complain about Savard only being behind cheaters and the 3-4 most popular players in the league.
>> Anonymous
>>491907
>as in the hitting and general competitive grit as in the chance any of these players actually strain themselves in the game.

So, EVERYTHING that makes watching a hockey game worthwhile? All you're doing here is ASSERTING that the All-Star game is a waste of everyone's time and effort, which has been my point since the very beginning.

>Maybe Detroit should sell-out its home games for the STANLEY CUP FINALS, hmm?
Because it's not like they didn't. OH WAIT, THEY DID.

AGAIN, do some fucking research beyond making a casual glance at the TV during a Wings home game. OH SHIT, I SEE AN EMPTY SEAT WITHIN THE 1/5th OF THE LOWER BOWL THAT'S ACTUALLY VISIBLE ON MY TV SCREEN, OBVIOUSLY THEY DIDN'T COME ANYWHERE CLOSE TO A SELLOUT.

Disphit, you're the only one claiming the All-Star Game is a waste of effort. Funny how 50+ All-Star Games disagree with you.

The Joe Louis always has empty seats. Most noticebly during the Finals. Instead of shoving your head up your ass "researching", learn the difference between tickets sold and actual attendance.
