its not just the bandwagoners for the pens, its also the nhl/ BETTMAN for basically shoving crosby down our throats, and convincing stations like espn, which barely show hockey, to try and tell the viewers crosby is the nhl's savior.

i still think the pens have less bandwagoners, and just more fairweathers. they're crawling out of the woodwork now, since the pens are good again

bettman/nhl pimping crosby, can you blame them?

They're the worst run sport of the big 4. the lockout KILLED them. crosby was one of the best things to fall into their lap. it's no different than 90s nba with jordan, or even with wayne (yes i know there were other great players, but wayne was the face of the nhl)

as for espn, we all know bettman's a tool. instead of having games on espn or at least one of the big 4 networks, he signs with VS. so what does espn do? they snub him. they pimp arena football more than nhl; why? because they own a stake. all espn cares about is ratings. they sucked so much patriot dick last season, but now the story is spygate, so they're leading the witch hunt.

so when something like the cup comes along, which they can't ignore), they just stick with the quick easy story: crosby

all the backlash against sid is just fans (myself included) getting sick of the overexposure. i'd kill to have him, or any of the NEW NHL guys (malkin, ovie, etc...), on my team

Does Cindy have any concept of reality? I don't think she does. Comments after Game 4:

"Tonight could have gone either way," Crosby said. "We know we have to even play better, but it's nice to know that we're right there and we play our game. There's no choice now. I mean, we've got to win to stand.

"Like I said, it could have went either way. But our effort was there and we created some chances, and they didn't go in. It was anyone's game. It's 1-1 and the next goal pretty much wins, and they got it."

"We did a pretty good job of being patient," Crosby said. "And like I said before, it's a tight game out there. And sometimes when they're pressuring like that, it's easy to maybe give the puck away a little easier and not react the right way, make bad decisions. But we did a good job of being pretty poised, I thought, with the puck and making good decisions, managing it well. And we created chances from that. So we'll take that game for sure and try to do the same thing in Detroit.

"We have to win one," Crosby said. "We have to win one to get back. So that's the way we're thinking, and they scored two tonight. We scored one, so I don't think they're running away with it. I don't think we're playing catch-up either, so we'll battle them in Detroit and see what happens."

> lol yeah, 3-1 down you better be fuckin' trying to play catch-up.

Many players in all sports talk about how bad they played and what they could of done better after a loss, and even give credit to the other team and/or individual players for how well they played against them. If anything, it shows more class, and would do nothing to piss off their "sponsorship." But class is something that Crosby and the Pens don't have.

Eh. To be fair they had some really good chances on the 5 on 3. One would have even went in if Zetterbergs skate wasn't luckily in the way. Then at the end with the goalie pulled they had some good chances too.

I think this team is relying too much on Crosby though. He's literally been the only player I can give a lot of credit to on the Penguins in this series. He's trying to carry the team on his back, but Detroit is simply just too good.
>> Anonymous
>>129339
There was one really good chance where Crosby was set to take a rebound to the left of Osgood, but Zetterberg tied up his stick and pushed him to the boards just in time. Then I just lolled when he singlehandedly took the puck allllll the way down the ice, did a nice little spinning deke, and gave himself a bit of a scoring chance while Pittsburgh's backcheckers stared in stupid amazement.
>> Anonymous
>>129339
To be honest, game 3 aside Crosby seems to have become all but invisible this series. This is part Detroit's suffocating defense and part poor coaching - Therrien isn't putting him on the ice often enough, particularly on 4-on-4 or PP time. Roberts and Hossa seem to be the only ones on the ice who have any idea what the fuck they need to be doing.

>> Anonymous
>>129345

I give Roberts credit as well. I've just observed that Crosby has actually looked like he's been skating hard and trying to create space for his team-mates. Even in the first two games. I'm no Crosby-fag, but most shifts he's out there it looks like he's actually working hard.

Malkin on the other hand is kinda whatever. I wouldn't say he's not trying, but he keeps trying moves that don't work. He gets shut-down on a move and next shift he's out he tries the same thing again. Getting a little redundant on his part.

I just think Detroits too good and Pittsburghs a little too inexperienced. It's a shame that Pittsburghs window with all this talent is fairly small. Once you need to pay Malkin upwards of around 9-10 million a lot of players are going to be hitting the road. There's no fucking way they can afford to keep Hossa. I honestly think they end up trading Malkin.

In game 4 Don Cherry pointed out something in the 3rd period. Puck dumped from the Wings' zone over to the red line near the players' bench. Can't remember who from the Wings was there to pick up the puck, but Malkin was right there with him and instead of making an effort to shift the momentum back to the Wings' zone he sorta half-heartedly dodged him and glided over to the bench for a change, leaving the ice open for a Wings rush that created a pretty good scoring chance. Malkin's been downright abysmal all series.

Wingsfag here and I agree. Even though he had a big game 3, Therrien hasn't played him much which my guess would be because of all those penalties we've been seeing. I still think Crosby is playing well, he's created alot of opportunitites for his teammates, but they can't seem to capitalize on them. Detroit's defense is just too much for them, and Osgood is Toogood. The best players for the pens are by far Hossa, Roberts and Crosby. Everyone else is just too inexperienced for the amount of talent they have, like Malkin for example.
