Why is fencing so compliated. Épée is fine but sabre and foil are too dificult to follow and prone unnecessary interrupts.

its for french faggots

Epee is the only fair fencing event.

And because of that the Americans won so many medals.

Just look at the picture. It's french. It's gay. Has to be complicated.

How is Sabre too difficult to follow? From the picture, it's "no hits below the belt", same as boxing.

Attack order. Every time there is a draw a referree has to decide who scored.

Isn't there a scoring computer that calculates who scored? What's the point of wearing those electronic vests?

Yes, there is a computer. But it's not about "who struck first," because the idea (at least in the case of sabre) is that you are trying to avoid double-kills. To encourage defensive play instead of just "stabby stab stab" privilege for scoring is given to the person who makes the first offensive move (that is to say, who thrusts first). If the other person thrusts first, your duty is to defend it -- if you parry successfully, you then get priority to score.

There are red and green lamps for every duelist but if both light up it has to be decided who was attacking sometimes with a case of a doubt.
Épée is far more fluent since really only the computer matters.

the fuck cares about this sport? stop bumping it up..and i just did

This is why kendo is superior, it's just straigt up sword fighting, none of this attack order bullshit
>> Anonymous
>>247794

It's not straight up at all. Kendo has more rules than fencing does. Not only do you have to hit certain parts of the body with certain parts of the blade, you only score if you say the right thing (wtf) and stomp your foot in the proper manner.

Priority rules don't apply in kendo because the likelihood of a dual kill are so low. Kendo comes from a religious background, whereas fencing comes from a "people trying to murder each other" background.

You have to stamp you foot becuase the attacks are perfomed in such a way that alot of the force comes from your feet, and to not do it woud mean that attack is weaker and improper, and the Cry is used to show you intent this attack to be a killing blow, so you get the point for strategic thinking

There's more the difference between 1-D and 2-D as well as the difference between the swords and armour. Épée doesn't have attack order either.

Epee is ridiculous though because it awards touches for any part of the body, as if the pinkie toe is a vital organ.

But I am a sabre wonk and think the more flexible weapons are kind of lame.
