Because using fucking facts makes someone a failure, whilst pure and utter dream faggotry makes one correct.

Oh wait, this is /sp/ after all. Well played, sir.

sir i think this is gonna be a first. i apologize. i'm a yankee fan that cannot believe that the devil rays (they will always be this to me) have caught up) i took out my aggression on you and i must digress. good night sir. but you are still a failure for liking the wrong team in chicago.

Actually, I'm a Red Sox fan. And I don't like the way the season is going any more than you do. But I've come to face facts. Our bullpen is shaky, the starters are abysmal, and our offense is spotty at best. How we're doing as well as we are is beyond me.

Though I'm sure you actually don't care about my opinion, I'll give it anyway. Varitek was done after the 2005 season, really. I really doubt he'll be back next year, and honestly, he should retire. Its unlikely that as a full time catcher, his average will ever climb above .250 for a full season, and will likely stay around .230-.240. His home run totals were never amazing, but expecting more than 15 out of him is a pipe dream. He might be okay as a backup catcher, but really, he should just hang it up. As for the Manny deal, he was one of the greatest hitters in Boston history, and will probably go into the HoF as a Red Sox player. That said, it was time for him to go. This year, we weren't going to win anything with him anyway, and he didn't want to be here, so why force it? I wonder how he'll do for the Yankees next year, provided Steinbrenner is stupid enough to sign him.

although i've done my fair share of trolling around here when i ask a question i usually care about what ever it is that i'm talking about. but the situation is really sad with varitek, the dude is obviously a clubhouse leader but he aint the same player he use to be, which has to be pretty depressing for him b/c a player like him would probably hate to be a bench player and he can't be used for situational hitting at all. as far as manny is concerned i hope he doesn't become the new damon, cause he has been a huge disappointment at the leadoff spot and is probably the reason why we find ourselves in third place with the blue jays 2 gb. what really got me mad was that we sent down melky cabrera (bad hitter) who plays great defense and put him in center again. i also fucking hate how a lot of yankee fans talk shit about arod (even in yankee stadium while the dude is playing third) when the reason we are even in contention is him, sometimes i wish the redsox would've gotten him just because i know the yankees would be nowhere w/o him.

When the Yankees signed Damon away from the Red Sox, I shrugged and said goodbye. Same thing with Pedro. Having watched Damon for as long as I had, and seeing all the bumps and shit he took, I knew he was a walking disaster waiting to happen. And Pedro was just getting old. The sad thing with Varitek is that I love how he handles the pitching staff and the clubhouse, but you can just see it every time he comes to the plate that, although he wants to come through for the team, he's too tired and old to do it. As for A-Rod, I think he is one of the best offensive regular season players. Some guys though, when it comes to the post season, they try too hard or something shuts off in their heads. Dunno what it is with him, but I think he's way overpaid for someone playing a kids game.

early in his career he was a great postseason hitter. but after he joined the yankees he hasn't been up to par. idk why but i think these players over think too much and think about the situations instead of what's going on right there and then. this happens to arod alot and is probably his biggest fault. i've seen him mad times this season and past seasons take 3-2 pitches that he could've crushed thinking the pitcher wouldn't give him something to hit b/c giambi bats behind him and dude ks looking. this gets to a lot of fans that don't realize the thinking behind him not batting. situations like this one repeat themselves a lot of times in the postseason but the difference is that if another team made it to that game, their pitching must be good too and in baseball good pitching beats good batting on a constant basis.
