I'm thinking of getting a Brine Franchise with a softmesh for carrying clears. Sound like a good idea? I'm worried that it will slow down my long passes too much.

I'd stick with an Excalibur. They make better blunt instruments for beating hobos.

skip the softmesh, be a man and go traditionally strung.

Fuck traditional and soft mesh, get some hard 10d from jimalax.com and string it up. If you can't string, I wouldn't get traditional either, takes too much maintenance for a non stick doctor.

Oh but I heard the Franchise blows. If you're playing d, which I'm assuming you are, try a Revo Pro or Xcal.

It's cute how they keep starting lacrosse threads like anyone cares.
