N-o A-merican S-tock C-ars A-re R-acing

Know what would make me watch NASCAR again? If all the drivers weren't driving the same goddamn car. And that goes for Fords, Chevys, Dodges...they are all the same. Tube chassis, +/-750hp V8, and then a body shell with your choice of stickers to make it a Monte Carlo or a Charger or a Taurus or whatthefuckever Ford is racing now.
If you want to have them be purpose-built race cars, fine. But let the teams put some development into them like F1 or ALMS does.
But what I want, and what you all should want too, is this: TEAMS HAVE TO RACE CARS OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINES.
"But Anon, that would mean there would be Charger SRT8s leading a bunch of shitbox FWDs for at least a season!"
I know...it'd be kinda funny too (and don't give me shit about the G8, I know about it but nobody knows if it'll do 177mph like the Charger SRT8 yet).
And once again, if a company wanted to actually win, they would have to give you and me cars with balls.
That's how NASCAR started, and it stayed that way for years. "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday," the saying used to go. Maybe if they did this, they could say it without shame again.
Pic related, Aussie V8 Supercar is what NASCAR could be...
