If anything it means the Habs' backup's backup's backup's is better than Howard, who faced shooters like Beauregard and d'Agostini.

Who cares?

The Red Wings are the best team in hockey. There is no argument.

yes hes good for his age, but there is no under 25 NHL league, tell me when hes NHL good and not good-for-his-age good.

Did the Canadians change enough to warrant them a better team then last years Wings?

Did the Wings lose anyone? No.

They added Hossa.

Now they are a lot better then the best team from last year.

08-09 Red Wings > 07-08 Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings > Every Other Team in the NHL

There was not a single team that could touch the Wings last year, no team got an extreme overhaul (except maybe the Lightning and the Rangers, and you can count out the Lightning on that account), what makes you think anything will change? The Wings only got better.

Osgood didn't collapse in the playoffs.

They did get older, though. I have a bad feeling the Wings may again see what happened from 99-01 and 03-06; fail due to being too old to win in the playoffs. Hopefully they have just enough youth to offset that, like they did in 06-07 and 07-08. Hossa could help a lot, but who knows how much, both in the short-term and long-term.

Also, it's a good thing the Wings didn't go after Mats Sundin, because his age would only slow the Wings down more. That's why I wonder if the team who signs him could be hurt more than helped by his presence (excludes if the team who signs him blows, but if the team blows, it doesn't take a lot to improve the team)

Hasek, but they have Conklin to fill the backup void and play in 30 or so games.

And Conklin had a higher save percentage than Price
Osgood > Conklin > Price/Halak
