It's just me, or boxing seems to have lost popularity in the last years?

Because the only division casual fans give a shit about is heavyweight. Especially in the U.S.

The lighter divisions have been giving great fights then and now.

Speaking as an MMA fan no. Boxing would still have it's problems if MMA didn't exist. Most new MMA fans come from pro wrestling if anything. MMA also suffers from a weak heavyweight class (other than the Affliction card and Nog/Mir who gives a shit) but they actually promote the whole card, which is something I wish boxing would do more of.

DID SOMEBODY SAY SHIT STORM!!

No shitstorm needed. The only people following boxing are the Hispanics, and since there are so many of them, I have to hear about their shitty welterweights and featherweights.

I watched boxing because it was a combat sport i could frequently find on tv.
After a while, I thought: "why don't they just kick each other?" Then I found kickboxing and there was much rejoicing.
After a while, I thought: "why don't they just grapple and take/down each other?" Then I found mma and there was much rejoicing.
For me, combat sports are not something I watch with the usual purpose of entertainment or whatnot, but I use as a reference to improve my own martial abilities. Sometimes I'll still turn on boxing just to see more hands being thrown, but I prefer the more 'complete' fight sports.

Only americanfags came from pro wresling to MMA, and MMA has an awsome heavyweight class, it's only the UFC that doesn't.
