Just don't tell him Real showed an interest or he'll be skipping off into the sunset arm in arm with Ronaldo at the end of the season.

Wait, you guys do realize Chelsea & Arsenal are going to take everything, right?

Berbatov is going to have a horrid time in Manchester, Keane is already showing how old his legs really are, & Man Citeh is, well, Man Citeh. SVE, Sinawatra, Hughes & this Arab guy all have players they bought that still play a big role in the side. They will have no chemistry & get completely torn apart by lesser sides.

If Arsenal keep a fit squad, they will win. AND they will make you all look foolish for spending so much money. This is coming from an expat living in Spain who watches the Prem extensively but has yet to choose a side to support.

Also, look for Spurs to have a great season as well. Great being relative of course, & meaning top 6 finish & a cup or two. They are admittedly lightweight up front, but they are just as capable in every single other position on the pitch as any other team. That Modric is as talented as any center midfielder playing in England right now & when he gets used to the pace of the league, he'll be immense. When they are on, them & Arsenal are probably the hardest teams to get one over on.

>>311532
I agree, the best signing city could make would be Arsene Wenger IMO
>> Anonymous
>>311532
Before the PL kicked off, I would've agreed with everything you said.

Saying that though, Spurs are just 1 point away from having their worst start to the season in history. The way they've played (not including against chelsea), I wouldn't be surprised if they finished outside the top 10.
>> Anonymous
>>311563

But, like you said, except against Chelsea. They completely shut down the best midfield in the league (at least while ronaldo is still injured) & looked the more dangerous team. Each game they've looked better and better & their backline has looked more & more secure. Once they come together they are going to be frighteningly good & frighteningly hard to break down. You can see it.

Like I said, I have yet to choose a team to support, but if it weren't for the fact that being a Spurs fan is just one long heart attack I'd probably support them. Maintained their classic Premiership club feel while still (along with Everton) being the closest thing to compete with the top 4 the last 3 or 4 seasons.

That's one thing none of the big clubs (except maybe Liverpool) have managed. They, particularly Chelsea & to a growing extent Man U, feel very plastic & manufactured.

This. How the fuck did he get him so cheap? It wasn't like he wasn't a random player no one knew about.

>311383
This for the selling club.

Robinho for the lols and the madness. Also the affect it'll have on English football. A club will fall from the top four, maybe not this year, maybe not next but certainly with the next 3. And whoever it is will be affected bug time by the lose of Champions League revenue.

Scotfag here. inb4 LOL UR CLUBS R POOR, no need to fucking remind me, this transfer deadline day's made that abundantly clear.

The transfer market seems absolutely crazy to me, now, thanks to Abramovic and these new arab owners. What I would say is that Gretna FC is a really good example of what can happen when clubs rely on a sugar daddy; Brooks Mileson left Gretna, and they went out of business within 6 months.

All this foreign owenership does is drive the prices up for mediocre players, and ensures only the billionare backed clubs can afford the best players. 12 million for milner? 16 million for Darren Bent? 8 million Anton Ferdinand? George McArtney went to Sunderland for (and i really, really hope im wrong on this) 6 million pounds. It's crazy.

I think its the fans who will end up paying for all of this insane over-investment in the long run, with price hikes on everything related to their clubs "brand". I don't think it'll be long before we see "Man City Tampons™" or "Chelsea-O's™" in sale at a store near you. All overpriced, of course.

That's what I think, anyway.

You almost had me there.

Also, waaaaay to early to say who the transfer of the year is. In Scotland, I would say Pedro Mendes to Rangers at 3mil; Carlos Cuellar ought to be smashing for Aston Villa after moving from the Gers, if not this season then next year. Other than that, Dimitar Berbatov seems a safe bet.

>This. How the fuck did he get him so cheap? It wasn't like he wasn't a random player no one knew about.

Maybe because they're both french? Also, most likely because Wenger is known for taking young talent and molding them into world class players, and he wanted a piece of that £35m pie?
>> Anonymous
>>311532
I lol'd heartily. Enjoy Adebayor scoring 1 of every 5 chances he gets and Wenger BAWWWing every time a team uses the long ball
>> Anonymous
>>311667
I've personally lost faith in Ade. 30m, and can't even properly control the ball or accurately shoot? I lol'd.

It's all about Bendtner, Vela and when he's fit, Van Persie this season baby.
>> Anonymous
>>311677
Bendtner is ever worse than Adebayor. Eduardo and van Persie are good players and Vela has a lot of potential but you're not going to win the league this year.
>> Anonymous
>>311680
Not likely, we don't have the strength in depth that even Wenger acknowledges, but still refuses to use the funds he has. But I don't think we're at all weak up front.

I think you're underestimating Bendtner though. He'll come good this season, Mark my words.

And be gone in 2009.

Deco, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Essien? Is there anything else better?

When Ronaldo's injured Man U isn't even half as good. Scholes is old & scores like a goal a season. Nani & Anderson still haven't reached their potential.

Liverpool has nothing going for them on the left, & even worse Dirk Kuyt on the right.
>> Anonymous
>>311677

Tied for the most goals scored from a forward last season & you give up on him after 3 games? Why are football fans so fickle?
>> Anonymous
>>312777
Because he's a waster. Always has been, looks like he always will be. The amount of opportunities the team feeds him is incredible, and he somehow manages to squander 60% of them. If Arsen could find someone as strong as him but can coherently control the ball, say, Drogba, he would be topping striker of the year awards with room to spare.

He's went 8 or 9 games without scoring when Arsenal needed him most last season. Started the season well then had a huge dip in form when Arsenal looked they might actually win the league, then start scoring again once United were too far ahead to be caught.

Not to mention his brilliant performance at Old Trafford, LOL!

Diaby is actually very powerful, (when hes having a good game). Rosicky is a very good goal scorer when he'sfit, because when Cesc didnt have a good game and Hleb didnt have a good game, Rosicky would do the work.
