Hey Shittsburgh, remember me in '96?

In 2008, the Flyers will derail your Stanley Cup run, just like the Panthers did in 1996.

Faggots.

lol i remember that shit
nice memory anon

or maybe you just looked it up

I was at the series opener. I think it was, at least. Zubov had a puck bounce off his skate and into the net. It gave Florida an early lead. I knew the series was going to be rough from then on.

I hated those plastic rats too.

OP here. Actually that was a huge upset, granted it was a seven game series. The Penguins (these were the Lemieux/Jagr/Francis Penguins, when they were actually a respectable team) were the favorite to go to the Finals. However, it was a team from Miami in their third year of existence that came out on top when the smoke cleared.

Avs kicked their ass in four though, LOL

the more I think about it....well, pittsburgh won 7 in a row, so yeah they've got dicks up their asses to be playing so good...but when they get off their game, it will happen at the worst time...and they'll eat it

They won four games against the Senators.

Only the Bruins could have lost a single game to the Senators.

habs are gonna come back and beat the flyers in 7 so no the flyers won't win faggot

1996 Panthers were a legendary team.

Too bad a move to the suburbs, shitty coaching, and lack of fan support pretty much killed the franchise. They're this generation's Whalers.
>> Anonymous
>>85011
Hell no.
Even Whalers didn't have a legitimate cut-throat as their team captain!

I do remember 1996.

It was a perfect example of the travesty that the NHL had become. The entire series was about multiple goons waterskiing on the backs of Lemieux and Jagr.

How did you guys do in the finals?
>> Anonymous
>>85113

"Waterskiing"? Its called DEFENSE...

And what the fuck are you crying about? It was a 7 game series, and a good one at that. So what? The Panthers kept Lemieux and Jagr from taking advantage offensively, and had much better goaltending (JOHN VANBIESBROUCK MOTHERFUCKER) and better defense (PAUL LAUS AND ED JOVANOVSKI MOTHERFUCKER). The Panthers then weren't much known for offense, I mean they had Scott Mellanby and Stu Barnes...Barnes made a career as a second-shift center, and Mellanby wound up being captain for the Atlanta Thrashers.

Coming into the Finals burnt out from beating a high-end team like the Penguins really ate them up. Besides, Colorado was a better team at all degrees...offense, defense, and goaltending.

I remember beezer and Uwe Krupp scoring that ridiculous goal

>"Waterskiing"?

The Panthers had a player assigned to hooking and holding Lemieux and Jagr for their entire shift. It was fucking pitiful.

I just have to laugh in the face of a franchise whose best memory is being swept in the finals.

Enjoy your golf pantherfags.

>Enjoy your golf

Don't mind if I do! I'll keep a golfcart waiting for you while the Habs/Flyers eliminate your sorry ass.

The Panthers are my team. I grew up with them. I support them through highs and lows (although they've had more lows than highs). I wear my colors proudly at the BankAtlantic Center. Sure, the Panthers have a long playoff drought, but I'm confident that after the postseason front-office reshuffle, they'll turn around and make really good for the 2009 season. I always have faith in my Panthers.

That's what being a fan is, you fairweather piece of shit.

No, I fucking hate the suckhole Florida Panthers, but I'm with>>85494on this one. Fans don't jump to the latest America's Team when their hometown team has a couple of bad seasons, you fucking frontrunner.

Are you a whiny Penguins fan, or do you just shit your pants like this because of all the times you've been anally raped?

I guess the difference between the two is rhetorical.

The Panthers had a better defensive game than Shittsburgh. The "travesty" you speak of was when the NHL was defense-oriented. You prefer hockey to be like basketball. Gary Bettman is going for your target demographic....fairweather casual fag
