I was at the Detroit game last night. Real jeckyl-and-hyde game for the Wings, either they were miserable with giving up turnovers, or they were turning the Canucks zone into a shooting gallery. It was an exciting game to watch, unfortunately the Wings got into shit with penalties AGAIN and it cost them the extra point. Still can't figure out why they're having these defensive problems, maybe Chris Chelios' experience gave the blue line more cohesion than previously thought. Props to Osgood, he made some awesome moves to keep the Wings in it as long as possible (my heart stopped a good 30 seconds when he stopped that wide-open shot by Hansen).

Also, Hossa's a fucking beast, he did everything on the ice short of getting a puck past the goal line. Fustrating as hell seeing him work that hard and not get any points out of it, but his addition to the lineup is massive.

Also, got a signed Mikael Samuelsson trading card from the team's bus driver after the game, lol.
>> Anonymous
>>491821Hossa's a fucking beast

This. He's is one of the most complete players in the league. I swear he left Pittsburgh because he was tired of cleaning up Crosby's shit.
>> Anonymous
>>491828
I was listening to the radio commentary while watching the game, the announcers were simply in amazement watching him singlehandedly fighting off two Canucks for the puck in the corner. The Wings have easily some of the most amazing two-way players in the league even WITHOUT him on the lineup.
>> Anonymous
>>491828
A *lot* of people were bemoaning having Zetterberg and Datsyuk split up in favor of a Hossa-Datsyuk-Holmstrom line, but that line is really starting to click now. Once Detroit FINALLY consistently gets its defensive shit together, it's going to be an absolutely frightening roster to play against.

Well if you're counting modern-era stanley cup wins, not many teams have won. If were not counting historic city wins then I see no reason to count wins from when the league was a joke with 6 teams.

I mean if were talking about the "real" Stanley Cup wins we shouldn't even be counting wins before first expansion in 1967.

I'd be more interested in seeing TV ratings for particular teams. There's only so many people that can be crammed into an arena, but the sky's effectively the limit for viewership and pay-per-view subscriptions.

Not sure where you'd be able to find something like that for the entire league, but it would be a far more accurate indicator of team followings. Particularly for a team like Detroit. With Michigan's economic issues the price of tickets are going to limit a lot of game attendance than a richer city like Vancouver (even though the Wings regularly are top-3 in the entire league in that regard), but anyone and everyone has the ability to watch games on TV.

I'm pissed off that things went to shit in OT, but I think a three-point game was the only way to justifiably resolve the game, both teams needed to walk away with SOMEthing after that performance.

Are you that stupid?

I was reporting on the score from tonight's game.

Perhaps you would have had me report on tonight's game 2 days ago.

Go curl up in the fetal position under mommies bed and wait for the next game
