n00b here

Came to /sp/ with the olympics and intend to stay, and with the American football season about to start I reckon it's a good excuse to get into a sport I know nothing about.

So:

1) Where can I watch it in the UK/internets?
2) What are the stereotypes of the teams? (e.g. Man U are arrogant, Chelsea are overpaid etc.)
3) Who do you support?

Raiders Fans are a bunch of violent assholes.

srsly.

Just ignore Eagles fans and Cleveland fans don't exist.

Thats about it.

2) Cowboys are arrogant and all black people are Cowboy fans for some reason. Cardinals are "the forever bad team." New England is made up of bandwagon and shitty fans regardless. Jets fans boo everything. Eagles fans throw batteries at Santa Claus.

>2) What are the stereotypes of the teams? (e.g. Man U are arrogant, Chelsea are overpaid etc.)

- The Patriots and the Cowboys are honorable, worthy competitors.
- Rex Grossman and Brett Favre are too immersed in the short range game to ever be a great quarterback. Chad Pennington, on the other hand, needs to stop hurling the ball 80 yards every chance he gets.
- JaMarcus Russell is supposed to be the next big thing for quarterbacking.

I don't know anything about football either, how will I do in a fantasy league and does /sp/ still have spots open?

If you do join, draft nothing but punters and offensive linemen.

1) Sky Sports on Thurs 4th Sept (opening game), then every Sunday and Monday night. Schedule:
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12949,00.html

Also Channel 5, I think Monday nights as well. Both are decent, though Sky tend to have some NFL veteran in the studio with them every so often. It's really down to personal preference of the presenters.

3) Miami Dolphins. My parents got into it during the 80's when much of the UK did. Just followed the team they supported.

Raiders are asses (so is their owner al davis)
Cowboys are "americ'a team"
the Patriots cheat
the bears will have a good defense and no qb
Brett Favre

OP here. Because I'm boring heres a screen-cap of me watching something on iplayer. I'm a Leeds Utd fan, looking around for something that isn't football makes alot of sense.

Thanks for the Channel 5 tip, had no idea they showed any games.

2:

- Cowboys fans are everywhere and theres no reason for them to like them. According to them, they are "America's Team" which everyone knows is total bullshit

-Eagles fans will fucking stab if you support another team in their stadium. They have no will to live so they will not regret their decision to murder you.

- Patriot fans are massive bandwagon assholes just like Man U fans. Plus, no one likes Boston.

- Raider fans are violent assholes like Eagle fans but nowhere near as bad

- Browns fans think this year is "their year" every year but are never right.

- Cardinals fans have come to the realization that they will never anything in their life.

- Packer fans are like the Cowboys, but toned down a bit. Everyone became Packer fans across the country because of BRETT FAVRE

- Jets fans are a bunch of NYC goons. Think of the stereotypical NJ Mobster and thats your Jet fan.

- 49er fans have been way too spoiled with Quarterbacks in the past, so now that they actually have a shitty QB, they can't comprehend it in their mind.

- Lions fans are see: Cardinals fans

- Bears fans are a bunch of goons who worship Mike Ditka and don't realize exactly how terrible they are.

I think i covered the major stereotypes.

3) Giants

What? Unless you're a Falcons fan (lol) the Saints are just... bland neutral.

Everyone recognizes that 49ers fans are dickheads but we tolerate it because it's better than LA getting a team.

You only like them because they won a super bowl faggot.

No you fucktard, I live in New Jersey so I'm a Giants fan. That's how i know so much about Eagles and Jets fans.

More like, you followed the Jets and Eagles for years, and jumped on the Giants bandwagon like all the other idiots.

.. I have to say that's bewildering. We go into every season recognizing that we're probably going to be a bad team and for some reason we have a successful team like the Niners hating us for some reason. That just comes out of nowhere.

You know so much about eagles and jets fans because you go to their games faggot.

I'm also only eurofan, started watching couple of years ago, started liking giants because their players were arguing with each other and their fans were often booing their team, their coach always looks lost somewhere. I liked that and become their fan for the lulz.
Now in couple of years they somehow become champs, after their best runner retired and talked shit over their passer.

1) visit myp2p and pray it stays up

2)
new england patriots are arrogant Man U equivalent, very good but boring to watch for anyone except their fans, also 18-1

redskins, the richest, pretty bad lately, tom cruse likes em...

green bay packers, owned by fans, fans wear cheese hats to games, you almost must like em

dallas cowboys, the american team, in last couple of years they got everything to become champions, so far they always failed somewhere

indianapolis colts, champs previous year, for overall public the best passer (him or patriots), but his receivers are getting old

minesota vikings, young team with one of the best runners in the league

san diego chargers, another team depended on running and defence, this team is experienced and tend to fail in playoffs

cincinnati bengals, maybe the best offense in the league, for sure the worst defence in the league, probably fun to rout for :)

philadephia eagles, fun insane fans, fun primadona passer, good defence, but philadelphia is knows as fail-cursed city

oakland riders, the bad team, owner is insane, bit cheap, and lately with bad results, but could become good quickly

new york jets, lol they have favre, who's favre?, you'll probably know first game, no mater what you watch.

I fogot to mention a lot of team. You just watch couple of games and start supporting someone that you like. Overall, normal fans hate everyone except their own team.

the 49ers have the best quarterback in the nfl, always. but right now they're in great need of an offense to compliment it.

the saints are the best team in the league

there has never been another team as dominant as the raiders.

Ricky williams is the best rb in the league

L.T. is overrated.

Rax Grissman should have a stadium named after him.
