Why do I get the feeling only half of you actually watched any of the games so far?
New York: the Rags had three games to get to "regular season form" for Philadelphia's season opener. Biron fell asleep, and Kukkonen didn't play very well (surprise, surprise). The Philly kicked the snot out of New York for 40 minutes. It's unfortunate that the first period went the way it did.
Montreal: Mostly even game won on the strength a flukey knucklepuck. Knuble still can't score on an empty net (surprise, surprise). Nothing special. Teams lose; it's part of the game.
Pittsburgh: Philly played very cautiously, pressing the Pens' offense to the perimeter. Flyers made one serious mistake on the backcheck (or lack thereof) on Pittsburgh's second goal. Nittymaki choked on the over-time goal. Shit happens. Anyway, the big deal in this game was the face-off circle. Philly got dominated
Colorado: The worst game by far, but a lot of was bad luck. Biron letting in that soft goal, Sbisa getting the box for playing defense, and the goal bouncing off Timmonen's leg. Still, Philly was whupped on the draw again, and did spend most of the game chasing after Colorado.
To me, Philadelphia's third line is it's biggest weakness. It has no real chemistry amongst the forwards and really struggles to gain the offensive zone. It really allows the opposing coaches to throw whichever line they feel like without having to worry about a mismatch defensively. I wonder if Giroux ending up in the AHL threw a monkey wrench into Stevens' line-up.
But the bigger picture is: every team will lose at least three games this season. It's no big deal.
