LOL @ ESPN

What a load of horse shit. Lets talk about the Candidates for "NEXT" as if ESPN even knows jack shit about sports other than what they hear from local papers.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/next

Ricky Rubio - alright this kid might be good, but anyone who doesn't work for ESPN has known this for at least 2 years now.

Joey Logano - DRIVING? are you fucking kidding me? I'll quote a random /sp/artan saying I saw when I say "Its not a sport if everyone in America does it on their way to work"

David Price - The kid pitches well twice in a playoff game, and his team still bombs, and suddenly he's a budding star. Average pitcher at best.

Matt Ryan - Only legitimate pick out of the 4 imo, guys pretty good. But still ESPN can't even pick him when says he's DRAFTED. Can't be NEXT when you're NOW amirite?

Fuck this shit I am officially taking ESPN.com off my bookmarks, money grubbing shitty company.
Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Was with you until this nonsense.

Seriously, I'm not sure how the Rays bombing suddenly means David Price is a bust.
>> Anonymous
>>453066

tell me why its nonsense. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood both had better playoff pitching games than this kid and look at them now...gimme a break. 2 elite performances =/= budding star

>>453067

didn't say "bust" just said average, and you can quote me.
>> Anonymous
>>453070
It's nonsense because you evidently dont' keep up with baseball prospects, and you dismiss him because of his team failing in the World Series.

Price's future has nothing to do with his short appearance in October.

Also, Prior and Wood were awesome. Their careers were ruined by an abusive manager. So if you think Joe Maddon is going to destroy Price's arm, then you might have a point, but you'd best offer evidence.
>> Anonymous
>>453070
If a guy who might well be the number one prospect in the country before the season starts becomes average, that is a bust.
>> Anonymous
>>453074

i'm willing to bet you'll believe anything Joe Buck tells you.

once again, mark prior, kerry wood.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
RIGHT YA UM

David Price.

No. 1 draft pick.

No. 6 prospect in the country in Baseball Prospectus at mid-season.

109/32 K/BB in the minors with 7 home runs allowed.

Yeah. Awful pick to be the next sports star.

>>453076
Joe Buck? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

You clearly don't follow baseball.
>> Anonymous
>>453076
>once again, mark prior, kerry wood.

I fail to see what great young pitchers ruined by an idiot manager has to do with David Price.
>> Anonymous
>>453078

ya clearly, cause that wasn't a shot at your intelligence or anything.

all i'm saying is please...one good performance means nothing in sports.

BEASLEY OBVIOUSLY NEXT CUZ OF PRESEASON BASKETBALL SCORE AMIRITE!?!?!?! #1PICK LOL #!#!#!#123O1231231
>> Anonymous
>>453084
You think people think he's going to be good because of that one performance?

LMAO!
>> Anonymous
>>453084
You're insulting people's intelligence when you're the one who thinks Price is likely to be average at best and that if he is merely average he won't be a bust.

Or that the fact that his team lost the World Series somehow means Dusty Baker is going to become his manager and ride him in to the ground.

OP knows less about baseball than ESPN.

Here, educational materials for you:

How much would you like to bet they do a better job at evaluating and projecting tallent than OP does? I'll bet you anything.

No, Beasley is probably going to be good because he's a very talented athlete who was good in college.

David Price was another talented athlete who was good in college and good in his first year as a professional in a sport that is MUCH easier to project than basketball.

The real irony is that David Price can't be next because he hasn't proven anything in the Majors yet (I think, any other argument is stupid), but Matt Ryan can't be next because he's already in the NFL.

What's the window to be allowed to be next?
>> Anonymous
>>453067
He's definitely not 'Next'. Josh Beckett has been there done that.
>> Anonymous
>>453108
Isn't Josh Beckett a little too far along to be Next?

/r/ that list

Wow your a bit old. Also you don't drive 180MPH to work. Logano will prob be the most successful. Also I like how ESPN is milking the shit out of NASCAR they would never touch it if they didn't have the TV Package like they do now!
>> philkid3
Bumping this silliness.

David Price is a stud, what the fuck are you talking about?

ESPN once again disregards hockey because they are ignorant American fucks.
"THE PUCK IS TOO SMALL AND THERE IS NOT A COMBINED SCORE OF 30+ POINTS THUS I AM NOT ENTERTAINED."

David Price is a platoon pitcher at best

Chances you are Canadafag: 90%
Chances you are Eurofag: 10%

Either way, fuck off.
>> Anonymous
>>453823
Why should ESPN talk about a sport the majority of their fan base does't care about?
>> Anonymous
>>453823
No, they ignore it because the NHL has a contract with a competing network, and the NHL season mirrors the NBA season (who has a contract with ESPN).

>>453893
I bet you voted for Ron Paul and believe in aliens.

>> Anonymous

They use to carry the NHL. Why do you think they don't anymore?
>> Anonymous
>>453899
Because the NHL went on strike while they were under that contract.
>> Anonymous
>>453904
and they signed the NBA while that strike was going on.
>> Anonymous
>>453904
So are you actually going to argue that ESPN spending time on the NHL is financially viable for them?

lulz
>> Anonymous
NHL had more fans than the NBA last year.

>I'll quote a random /sp/artan saying I saw when I say "Its not a sport if everyone in America does it on their way to work"

Thanks, OP. Since it's been remembered, I might have to put that on my tombstone.

>>454001
Only 13% of the US population gives a shit about the NBA, but they give them time/money. Seriously, grow up kid, unless you live in Boston or LA, you don't give a shit about the NBA.
>> Anonymous
OH MAN I REALLY HATE ESPN THEY KNOW NOTHING OF SPORTS AND ARE POSER FAGGOTS FOR REAL
>> Anonymous
>>454105
I give a shit about the NBA and I don't live Boston or LA... wtf?
>> Anonymous
>>454105
Who said anything about the NBA?

Also, where is this proof that the NHL has more people who care than the (also fail) NBA?
>> Commissioner Red !5gFoSxriW2
God, you people fucking complain about ESPN like Jews at a bake sale.

Every time a whiny cunt cries and bawwwws about ESPN on /sp/, Jay Mariotti and Bill Simmons are given $1000 checks.
