Fluke Lee wins the Fluke Lee award, AKA Comeback Player of the Year. Congrats on winning the Fluke Lee award, Fluke Lee.

Silly anonymous, his name is Cliff! Cliff Lee! Where you're pulling this fluke stuff from I have no idea. Fluke? That's not even a name you goober!

Cliff Lee ERA+ over the last five years.

2008: 175
2007: 73
2006: 103
2005: 111
2004: 80

FLUKE LEE IS A FLUKE.
>> Anonymous
i accidentally a fluke season, is this bad?
>> Anonymous
Hell yeah! Chocolate chip is one of the flavors of the week!
>> St.Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
>>371992
He could just finally have become good! It's possible! It happens in sports!
>> Anonymous
The worst thing is that Fluke Lee can't even cash on this season and fucking up a team's payroll for years on end. He made the stupid choice to extend his contract with the Indians and eat up a couple of his FA years. Fluke Lee will be with the Indians until 2011 season ends! And by then he'll return to a crappy pitcher that he always is, and won't be able to cash in on his fluke season.
>> Anonymous
>>372007

Yes, but you don't build a team around them. Ryan Ludwick has a similar good year with the Cards. You think the Cards are going to trade away Pujols and build around Ludwick? FUCK NO.
>> St.Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
>>372039
You're damn right you wouldn't build a team around him and I would never make such a stupid claim.
>> Anonymous
>>372058

But that's what the Indians are doing my making Cliff Lee their number one. The guy's a 3rd/4th pitcher at best!
>> St.Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
>>372063
Oh. Well. Then that's stupid.
>> Anonymous
>>372063
I don't see many teams with a #3 pitcher with 22 wins.
>> Anonymous
>>372069

Wins are a retarded way to measure how good a pitcher is. Santana only has 16 wins this year, so he's only 72.7% as good as Cliff Lee? That's garbage. Actual ability matters, actual talent matters. Cliff Lee's is not your ace. It'll be like relying Carlos Pavano to lead your team into the playoffs.

>> St.Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
>>372074
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh my God, thank you. Though he is right, usually the number three starter won't sniff 20-something wins...even if wins is a shit stat.
>> Anonymous
>>372074
You still think Lee should be a #3 pitcher though, when he's been very good almost each single season he's been in the league. No offense, but Santana hasn't been perfect every season, so I guess he shouldn't be a #1.

You know jack shit, and think the Indians have anyone better than Lee right now to lead off their rotation. He's the best they've got right now, and putting him at #1 means he gets the most starts, and more chances to rack up wins.

I'm glad you're not a GM anymore Dave Littlefield.

Cliff Lee had a 103 ERA+ in 2006(14-11), that's an average year for a pitcher. (100 being absolute average) Lee went 111 in 2005(18-5), where he was barely above average, and then he went 2004 he posted a... 80 ERA+, but went 14-8 that year. In 2007 Cliff Lee posted a 73 ERA+ and a 5-8 record.

JOHAN FUCKING SANTANA since he was 23 when he was a full member of the Twins' pitching staff has posted ERA+ of

2002: 149 (8-6)
2003: 148 (12-3)
2004: 182 (20-6)
2005: 155 (16-7)
2006: 161 (19-6)
2007: 130 (15-13)
2008: 163 (16-7)

Even in Santana's worst year(2007), Santana was loads better than 85% of pitchers in the Majors. So fucking yes, Cliff Lee wouldn't be able to carry Santana's jock strap.

Nice stats, but you still didn't say who was Clevelands #1 and #2. You still think he's a #3, but won't tell us who should be before him, and who's a better pitcher on their staff.

Oh wait, you're just shitting on Lee, instead of proving you know jack shit other than how to copy-paste shit off a reference website.

Still waiting on the new and improved Cleveland Indians rotation, with Cliff Lee in the #3 spot....
>> Anonymous
>>372120

No, I'm saying that if the Indians are going to rely on Cliff Lee being their number one they're in big trouble.

If the Indians best pitcher is Cliff Lee, they're going to lose 90 games next year.
>> Cleveland Fag !AVztAjVxGg
I lost the copy pasta I usually post here, but OP is an idiot.
>> Anonymous
>>372139
WHAT A FUCKING WONDERFUL OBSERVATION.

We already know that they are bad, and their rotation is bad. Lee is their #1 though. So shut the fuck up. Until they can get better pitchers, he's something decent to build behind, and perhaps rebuild.
>> Anonymous
>>372143

THATS THE THING. HE'S NOT THE GUY TO REBUILD AROUND. HE IS WHO WE ALL THOUGHT HE IS.
>> Anonymous
Spoilers:

Cliff Lee has another impressive season, wins 17 games. Will not replicate this year. All-Star selection again.

Indians make the playoffs.
>> Anonymous
>>372145
He's a decent pitcher on a staff that has zero other ones. You're suggesting throwing him to the wolves because he's not roger clemens or johan santana? You're a fucking idiot, and I'm sure EVERY SINGLE TEAM would kill to get Cliff Lee into their rotation, even if it meant him starting as #1 in their rotation.

Seriously, you're a fucking idiot. Good pitchers are few and far between, and Lee is still above the average.

You know shit about baseball, and no less about rotations.
>> Cleveland Fag !AVztAjVxGg
>>372149

Roration isn't good, but it's not horrible. Westbrook can be counted on when he is not injured, and Scott Lewis has some upside. Sowers is useless, Carmona may be useless, though. We need to sign a #2 or, sign Sabathia lolxD
>> Anonymous
>>372160
It's a lot of maybes on a team that has a decent pitcher that proved himself in the past, and this year definitely. Unless the farm system shows some decent pitchers coming up, he's all they really have. Suggesting building around your BEST PITCHER who just WON A CY YOUNG is a bad idea, sounds like babbling from a retard.

Seriously, if he's all you really have, why not use him as a center to build around? Oh, he's not "the best" so he's not worth it.

Let me know when Santana wins a Cy Young...
>> Anonymous
>>372149

No Cliff Lee flucates between barely above average years, and very poor year(seriously, he has an 80, and 73 ERA+ respectively. That's pretty damn bad. To put it in respective, Livan Hernadez who went 10-8 for the Twins this year had a 76 ERA+ this year. To trust a guy like Cliff Lee to be near the elite (let's put this bar around... let's say around 130 ERA+) is laughable. He's not that kind of pitcher. He simply isn't. You're putting him on a pedestal for what he isn't. If the Indians want another 90+ lost season, by all means make Cliff Lee your ace, and then pray that the Indians actually draft a high pitching prospect that pans out due to their losing record.
>> Cleveland Fag !AVztAjVxGg
>>372171

Cliff Lee now has a totally different delivery from years past in addition to multiple new pitches. He changed his style totally in rehab in 2007. He is a different pitcher which is what accounts for his 2008 success.
>> Anonymous
>>372171
You still have nothing to suggest OTHERWISE. You think they can magically have better pitchers appear.

Seriously, get the fuck off the internet Dave Littlefield.
>> Anonymous
>>372175

And I don't have to, I'm saying the Indians are fucking insane to trust Cliff Lee. But to believe that Cliff Lee will be your number one is fool hardy. But hey, maybe you'll be lucky and sign Carlos Pavano.
>> Cleveland Fag !AVztAjVxGg

>> Cleveland Fag !AVztAjVxGg
>>372192

Well, they had the 2nd best record in baseball since the All-Star break. That's without Westbrook. That's without Sabathia. That's without Martinez or Hafner.

That's with Cliff Lee leading the rotation, and then more or less a bunch of nobodys. I think next year we'll be fine, even if Cliff Lee doesn't have the same kind of great season he did this year.
>> Anonymous
>>372192
Prove once where anyone said that. Nobody did, and nobody is suggesting (besides the guy that can see the future) that they're all of a sudden a playoff team. They need people, but Lee is solid and has been in the past.

You're a fucking troll. You think you see people saying shit so you're replying to that instead of anything else.

Very true. I still don't think they're gonna be much above .500 if even at that. Still better than my Pirates, so I know I'll be going to Indians games next season like I did this one.
>> Cleveland Fag !AVztAjVxGg
>>372217

They'll be at least .500. If they make a serious run at the playoffs, that's questionable, but I feel confident that it will be a competitive team. 85 wins.

Not all in the same season, Josh. You were good until you wasted the next 30 HR on the All Star Game. You were terrible until the end up August.

I'm not ripping on him, I own a Hamilton jersey and am a huge fan. He's a big reason to why I stopped drinking.

Josh Hamilton here again. I'll be taking the next year off to get back into my old habits. Heroin is fucking great, and I'll be back in 2010 to win the Comeback Player of the Year!

You made $350,000. You haven't even hit arbitration yet. A team can non-tender your ass pretty damn fast. No, it wouldn't be a good time to start heroin again.
