Did you watch the game? If you had, you'd see that Detroit was skating circles around Pittsburgh during the whole 2OT. Maybe the shots were the same, but the difference between shots and quality shots is something.
Here's a stat for you from NHL.com
Detroit took 130 shots AT THE net during that game. 58 SOG, 41 missed the net, and 31 were blocked by Pittsburgh players.
Pittsburgh took 60 total shots AT THE net. Only 32 were SOG. Pittsburgh had one more SOG than the number of shots they blocked for Detroit.
If that stat doesn't prove to you how much Detroit controlled that game, you're a homer, bandwagoning, blind Pittsburgh fan. They controlled the game so much, they had the puck long enough to take 70 more shots than Pittsburgh.
