Your stadium does look better, may that be some consolation for you when you're bagging my groceries five years from now.

Oh, yes, the classic Michigan insult. We talk shit about the fact that we've beaten you 6 of the last 7 years, and you go "OH, WELL, MICHIGAN IS A BETTER SCHOOL ACADEMICALLY HURR HURR." Unfortunately, that argument doesn't work anymore, since we're ALMOST as good as you now. Last rankings I saw, Michigan was 25 in the nation overall, and Ohio State was somewhere around 40.

So please, if you're going to try to insult Ohio State, try a little harder.

Ohio State=fail in championship games

25>40. You are not doing too good making your case.

>>26049

OKAY, HAVE YOU HEARD THE ONE ABOUT HOW OSU ALUM WILL PUMP THEIR GAS IN THE FUTURE ROFL
>> Anonymous
>>26061

And 40>thousands of other schools in the country.

I'm not denying that Michigan is better academically, but Ohio State has moved from being a safety school to a primary choice. It's actually good academically, and it's getting better and better with every year. We're catching up to you.

Point is, no, we won't be bagging groceries, so I'd appreciate a better insult. Someone as intelligent as you should be able to find one I haven't heard a thousand times, shouldn't you?

so an osu graduate and a michigan graduate walk into a bar...
>> Anonymous
>>26055

Oh, right, we lost the last two years.

Lest we forget that we won in 2003, and as a whole we have 7 national titles, 32 conference titles, 173 All-Americans, and 7 Heisman trophy winners (which is more than your school has). I don't care what you say, we MADE it the past two years, which shows we're a good team. We choked the first year, and LSU was just better the second year (we were a young team, it was a rebuilding year after losing virtually our whole offense, mind you), we only got in by default.

If George Bush can graduate from Yale academic rankings don't mean shit.

Well, we won IN 2003, for the 2002 season...14-0.

OK, here is what I don't get...OSU gets so much flack for losing the past two years. But we're not the only team to lose 2 BCS championships in a row, lest we forget Oklahoma.

Compare:

2003: LSU 21, Oklahoma 14
2004: USC 55, Oklahoma 19

vs.

2006: Florida 41, Ohio State 14
2007: LSU 38, Ohio State 24

Oklahoma's average spread: 21.5
Ohio State's average spread: 20.5

So if you're going to bitch and moan about Ohio State, bitch and moan about Oklahoma too. We both won a BCS title game, then a few years later lost two in a row. Now stop bitching.

>We choked the first year

No, you were an above average team playing a very above average SEC team. Don't spew your "we just didn't feel like playing" shit, you had 80 yards of offense and got ripped apart by an actual good team.
>> Anonymous
>>26125

then explain osu outgaining the SEC champions, with an inferior offense, the following year
>> Anonymous
>>26102

Also, Florida State went 3 years in a row and lost two of them, just not in a row.
>> Anonymous
>>26129
All while managing to get whipped. AGAIN with the excuses. Do you realize how much you embarrass yourself when you go around trying to claim that you were anywhere close to a great team? /sp/ will continue to bash OSU and the big 10 so long as you keep claiming you were the best team, and will love every minute of it.
>> Anonymous
>>26125

I'd say the problem that game was the offensive line. Troy Smith would literally have 2-3 seconds to try to make a play pretty much every time he hiked the ball...it was pathetic.
>> Anonymous
>>26135
Almost as if the SEC talent was too much!
>> Anonymous
>>26134

Just as /sp/ will continue to bash the Patriots. They're still one of the top 3 programs in college football over the last decade. 3 trips to the title game in 6 years.
>> Anonymous
>>26139
They actually win in big games, though. Columbust has a total of 1 national championship since 1970 by my count. Congratulations, so does BYU. Difference is BYU actually won their bowl game.

fuck meeeechigan
fuck penn state
and the rest of the shit teams in the Big 2

Stick to football OSU. Arguing academics is not going to work in your favor:

US News & World Report 2008 rankings:
14 - Northwestern
25 - Michigan
38 - Wisconsin
48 - Penn State
57 - OSU

Argue football all you want, but you are not in the upper echelon of academics in the Big Ten. Now, if you want to throw your academic prowess at the SEC, that's fine since only Florida (49) and Vanderbuilt (19) are ranked higher than OSU, but don't try it in conference.

National championships aside, what about other bowl games?

Beat Notre Dame in 2005.
Beat Washington State in 2004.
Beat Kansas State in 2003.
Beat Miami in 2002.

I mean, you could go back as far as you want. Ohio State is a good team historically, and if you disagree then you don't know jack shit about football. No, we're not the best, but to say we suck, especially under Tressel, is just plain ignorant.

Let's look at OSU vs. SEC teams:

Ohio State: 7 championships, 7 Heismans, 173 All-Americans

vs.

Alabama: 12 championships, 0 Heismans, 92 All-Americans
Arkansas: 1 championship, 0 Heismans, 45 All-Americans
Auburn: 1 championship, 2 Heismans, 62 All-Americans
Florida: 2 championships, 3 Heismans, (LOL I DUNNO) All-Americans
Georgia: 2 championships, 2 Heismans, 66 All-Americans
Kentucky: Dick
LSU: 3 championships, 1 Heisman, (LOL I DUNNO) All-Americans
Ole Miss: 3 championships, 0 Heismans, 42 All-Americans
Mississippi State: 0 championships, 0 Heismans, 14 All-Americans
South Carolina: 0 championships, 1 Heisman, 51 All-Americans
Tennessee: 4 championships, 0 Heismans, 70 All-Americans
Vanderbilt: Dick

The only team worth mentioning is Alabama, but they don't even come close with Heisman winners or All-Americans.

Here are some GOOD teams:

USC: 7 championships, 7 Heismans, 148 All-Americans
Notre Dame: 11 championships, 7 Heismans, 178 All-Americans
Oklahoma: 7 championships, 4 Heismans, 144 All-Americans
Miami: 5 championships, 2 Heismans, 72 All-Americans
>> Anonymous
>>26372

Now, here's my point. Yes, the SEC is on a hot streak, but to say Ohio State is a shitty time is just ignorant. Ohio State is one of the most storied and successful programs in the history of the sport, and they continue to produce quality teams, not to mention the tradition. Ohio State is 0-10 against SEC teams in bowl games historically, but we're much more successful against other conferences. Give us some credit.

And yes, the Big Ten sucks...we have the occasional great team from Minnesota, Michigan State, Penn State, etc, but mostly it's all about Ohio State and Michigan.
>> Anonymous
>>26358

Touché.

It's OK though. I find Ohio State to be a great balance between academics and partying. It works.
