This is why the NHL lost so much ground.

Why the fuck are there teams in Los Angeles, the Carolinas, and Florida? Instead of expanding to places where no one could give a flying fuck, they should have been focusing on the markets where Hockey matters.

Detroit will win Central and the West
Minnesota will win Northwest, Criag Leopold will count his money
Dallas will win Pacific, but barely over the Sharks.
Detroit, Dallas, Minnesota, San Jose, Colorado, Edmonton, Chicago, Nashville make playoffs

Flyers/Pens/Devils fight for the Atlantic
Habs win Northeast, and are the only NE team to make the playoffs
Tampa Bay Penguins win Southeast over Caps
Flyers, Tampa, Habs, Devils, Capitals, Pens, Sabres, Hurricanes make playoffs

Cup finals: Detroit wins over Tampa Bay in 7

Detroit will win the Central, I don't want to say it, but seriously who will stop them? They will surprisingly suck again in their own division though somehow.
Pacific will be a battle between the Ducks and the Sharks, Ducks are on the lower end and will miss it though. Stars won't be a factor.
Flames win the Northwest, which proves to be the worst division in the league by far.

Playoff teams in no particular order: Wings, Sharks, Ducks, Flames, Oilers, Wild, Avalanche, and surprise Blue Jackets.

Northeast is won by the Senators, which we all know won't actually mean anything but an easy in to the playoffs for a low seeded team.
Atlantic is a battle of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh coming out on top.
Southeast sees the 'Canes winning again, and despite another high seed in the playoffs people will still BAWWW about an NHL team in the Carolinas

Playoff teams: Senators, Hurricanes, Penguins, Flyers, Capitals, Thrashers, Rangers, Bruins

lol. that map two hockey teams in our fat tiny dick. (i.e. Florida) How Canada let that happen in an unimportant sport, shit, also why do the coyotes take over part of New Mexico? they are as indifferent to hockey as phx is. Also, The Ducks are in Anaheim, NOT SAN DIEGO.

Funniest thing every the entire eastern seaboard who should embrace white-only sports none of them like it. Also, a franchise in Columbus. hockey, your cheap owners loved expansion, because all of them would get a check instead of earning money. SRSLY shouldn't the Coyotes be in Winnipeg nao? Phx mgmt slashed the cost of tickets in 75% of seats by 50%. With a strong canadian dollar you should be able to fly down from Winnipeg buy 2000 seats and have a game to yrself.

Also ohio should no longer allow itself to have any teams in any sport at any level.
>> Anonymous
The more I keep looking at that map...as a former Colorado resident, the Avs should have much more bleed-over into Wyoming, Nebraska, and northern New Mexico. And, as a native of the Bluegrass State, absolutely no part of Columbus should be bleeding into Kentucky (if anybody can find me a native Kentuckian besides me who gives even half of a shit about hockey, I'll stop having sex with my sister).

I'm one of those "fuck the southern teams" types. There's no reason for fucking Florida to have more hockey teams than Quebec. There's no reason for Tennessee or Arizona to have a team either.

Coyotes unfortunately aren't going anywhere; they have some crazy-ass 30-something-year lease on their arena that would cost an owner ridiculous amounts of money to be able to move. Not that it matters all that much since the number of Calgary expats who make up the majority of the Coyote's 'fanbase' effectively make it a Flames satellite team. I always lol when Calgary plays Phoenix and most of the crowd is Flames fans.
>> Anonymous
>>324486
Fuck the Predators, HARD. Their hick fans think they're watching the goddamn WWE, they cheer harder for hits and cheap shots than for goals. They get so dazzled by the on-ice violence that they somehow remain ignorant of their team's inability to win a single playoff series in its lifetime. Even with garbage teams like the Trashers and Panthers floating around I can't think of a city less deserving of an NHL team than fucking Nashville.

This shows the problem of the future for the Sun Belt hockey teams. All of these Rust Belt fans move to places like Florida and Arizona and still want the same entertainment that they had back home. That's fine. But, while they still hold those memories, their kids are growing up in the LOCAL culture and not the one back in Philly or wherever that cherishes hockey. Therefore, as the population grows up and migration habits change, suddenly there's no fan base because ice and cold type activities just don't mesh with their local climate. Look at the LA Kings for one example. People from back east by and large can't afford to live in LA anymore. So, in addition to getting screwed by the presence of the Ducks, the Kings also lose because fewer New Yorkers, Bostonians, etc. are coming to "Kings Country." It was a fail move (among many) for the NHL to move into THIS many Sun Belt and other non-traditional markets so quickly.

tl;dr BRING BACK MAH WHALERS!!
>> Anonymous
I am going all out with this and saying that no should team should be south of St. Louis, D.C., or San Jose (and San Jose is seriously pushing it)
Move them all north, or close the fuckers down to make the teams with an actual fan base better.

The Kings aren't moving. Period.

They've been in LA for 40 years, they've had about eight or nine good seasons, mostly when Gretzky was with them. They haven't won the Cup, and they're still there. The team's management is poorly run, the players don't give a shit, and the fans stay at home instead of going to the game.

But if you think the owners would move them out of the Staples Center (which is a goddamn gold mine because of the Lakers), you're crazy.

What killed the Florida Panthers was moving to Sunrise (which is swampland...even its XBox-huge mall is swamp-themed).

Miami Arena was easily accessible and contributed to the Panthers' 3+ years of sellout crowds. Granted, their new arena is really fucking nice, its just....IN THE MIDDLE OF FUCKING NOWHERE!!!! Its difficult to get fans from the big city to the middle of the swamp. Miami Arena had a train station right in front of it, and it was in the heart of the city.

If the Panthers waited a few years to move to the American Airlines Arena (which can accomodate hockey), they wouldn't have fanbase or attendance problems. Its just that Broward was BAAAWWWWing for a pro team (what? they don't realize that they already had the Dolphins and the Marlins?), so yeah, public money built an arena specifically for the Panthers.

That's wasteful spending of public money. The Heat and the Panthers could have easily shared an arena.

Still, attendance isn't that abysmal that it would warrant a move. The franchise's lease in Florida is good for thirty more years. Also, it gives an excuse for snowbirds to see their favorite teams in Florida during the tourist season.

nice filename faggot. It's Modano, who although a bluesfag here, is still my favorite player and by far the best American born player ever...(which probably still puts him in the hundreds overall right?)

Fuck! It's ridiculous they raised the prices by ten bucks this year. I have at least two seasons til I can afford a single season ticket seat.

fortunately I live in St. Louis where you can get season tickets for $600 or 10 game packs (what I have) for $99

I'm in Canucksfagland. I remember a season or two ago the Canucks had THE most expensive tickets in the league, not sure if that's still the case. I only go twice a season when the Wings are in town but for those games they jack the prices up even higher. Last season 110 bucks got me an upper-bowl seat between the blue line and the defensive zone faceoff circle.

I love the idea of OP's map, Gallup or someone should make a map like that. Wisconsin would be pure white and untouched by any hockey affiliation, because a true Wisconsinite doesn't give a flying fuck about hockey. Low-brow sport is low-brow.
Wisconsinfag here.

From my experience, it's pretty equal between Habs, Leafs, and Bruins fans, with a small minority of Sens fans.

If they add another one in the east, it should go to Halifax IMO

If anything this league should think about moving teams not adding new ones.

Let's start off where we left last april, before the playoffs, shall we? I just can't wait 'till we sweep the Bostonians once again.

tl;dr: leave the NHL to us.

Agreed, because I don't know who made this map. All of New Jersey for the Devils? Seriously does whoever made this WATCH hockey? The Devils can barely sell out a PLAYOFF GAME. Their fans are more in the middle, where about 25 people live. North Jersey goes for the NY teams, and South roots for Philly.
