Emmitt passed Walter's record on October 27th, 2002, when the Cowboys played the Seahawks. Case in point, he broke and passed the record as a Cowboy. He only added so very little to it as a Cardinal.

I see your point, but your facts aren't exactly correct.

Greatest what? Talent or player? OP you may have the greatest talent pictured there (which could still be debated) but he is not the best football player or running back. A player that lacks the desire to play the game and retires early can never be the greatest anything. Walter Payton is the best running back in my opinion.

Any quarterback who also has the record for most interceptions thrown cannot be in the top 5. He was great when he was younger, but past 2004 he became shit.
>> Anonymous
>>305438

Greatest QB ever. You're joking right? I'd take Montana, Johnny U, Elway, and Marino over him ANY day.
>> Anonymous
>>305438

favre's numbers aren't going to stand. the only record of his that brady doesn't stand a great chance to destroy is his interception count :D

plus, counting MVP awards is like considering madden cover appearances a reasonable statistic for 'best ever' arguments.
>> Anonymous
>>305464
Montana is the only QB in Favre's league. Unitas' stats pale in comparison, Elway was a product of a great offense, and Marino never won a ring.
>> Anonymous
>>305468

Exactly. You know who else had 3 MVPS? Randall fucking Cunningham.
>> Anonymous
>>305469

Why does it matter whether or not he won a ring? Using that logic, Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer are better QBs than Marino.
>> Anonymous
>>305470
NOBODY ELSE HAS 3 MVPS IN THE NFL!!! RAGEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
>> Anonymous
>>305471
I'm not saying every QB who wins a super bowl is a great QB, but to be considered the greatest QB of all-time they must have a ring. The QB is the leader of the team and in order to be listed among the likes of Montana, Favre, Elway, and Unitas they must lead their team to the pinnacle of the NFL.
>> Anonymous

>>305425

Better.
>> Anonymous
>>305482

Whether or not he won a ring, I still consider Marino a more talented QB than Favre.
>> Anonymous
>>305469

plus, marino was barely above average in the postseason. i don't want to say 'interception machine' but he played in 18 playoff games and threw 24 picks.

You know everyone keeps talking about stats and awards that favre has one compared to all the other great QB's. IMO, Brett takes the cake as far as that goes. Tom Brady has his rings because new englad can build an excellent all around team, not on his own merit. John Elway, same thing. Johnny U doesnt even compare to those two let alone Favre. Joe montana is the only one whos skill can compare. But the thing that makes a QB great is his leadership. Bretts legendary leadership as well as his love for the game has earned him the respect of everyone who knows anything about the game of football. Even the chicago bears!!! No QB in the history of the sport has had as much of an impact on football players and fans than Brett Favre. THAT my fellow sports lovers, is why he is the Greatest QB of all time.

plus, hes a fuckin bad ass.

Ty Law
Richard Seymour
Tedy Bruschi
Mike Vrabel
One or two other guys I'm sure I'm missing (was Lawyer Milloy still with them at that point or had they moved on to Rodney Harrison?)

They had garbage at the offensive skill positions to be sure (who engineers a game-winning touchdown drive with Troy Brown, J.R. Redmond and Jermaine Wiggins?) but their defense wasn't exactly full of slouches.

The Dream Team was a selection of the best of the best and also played inferior competition.

The Dolphins built through the draft and acquiring players through trades. There wasn't even a free agency back then. Also, there was much stronger competition.
