Jazz are a little overrated IMO.

If the Rockets have the same chemistry, they are #1.

the lakers are so stacked its retarded, this team could win 70 games if bynum lives up to expectations and everyone stays healthy. stern wants a lakers/celtics rematch in the finals, mark my words

im pretty pessimistic about the mavs this year this year, dirk is getting worse every year now and can't come up big when it matters, josh howard is batshit insane, and jkidd is a relic. on top of all that, it takes time to adjust to a new coach. if we can somehow sneak into the playoffs, i'll be very happy.

too lazy for playoff predictions, here are a few dark horse candidates for the big awards

MVP: Dwyane Wade (played out of his mind in the olympics, everyone's forgotten how good he was)

ROY: Anthony Randolph (a stretch to be sure but the kid has unreal talent)

Most Improved: Leon Powe

DPOY: can't think of a dark horse, it's gonna be Artest

You are going to love some Antoine Wright this year as well

The Motion Offense just by itself is going to make this team much better, the spread out isolation bullshit the Mavs have been using is gone, you're going to see Dirk in much better positions when he gets the ball this year unlike the 90% of the time at the high post that we've been seeing, people will actually be moving and causing the defenses to work against them, have hope my fellow Mavsfag.

The only people who think the Lakers and Celtics will come out on top of their respective conferences this season are people who have been completely oblivious to all the trades, picks and acquisitions the other teams have been making.

last i checked, the lakers still have kobe bryant, pau gasol, lamar odom, the entire team that took them to the nba finals, AND andrew bynum. not to mention one of the deepest benches in the league. the east is a clusterfuck, but you're crazy if you think the lakers aren't winning the west

there's still the rockets, but yeah pretty much.
>> Anonymous
>>426778

the rockets are...interesting. artest adds defense but also takes minutes from battier, who they already had as their defensive specialist. yao is continuing to prove his fragility and mcgrady still needs to kick the first round curse. until proven otherwise, the rockets are still a huge question mark
>> Anonymous
>>426778

yao does well against centers that are roughly his athletic level, but against quick, agile centers (like andrew bynum, for example) he gets eaten alive. rockets/lakers is NOT a good matchup for the rockets, at all

Spurs, Suns, Jazz, Mavs and Nuggets are over their peak.
Clippers Warriors and Blazers are promising and will definitely improve but no where near title contender.
The contenders are Rockets, Hornets, Lakers in order of strength. Bynum is all hype, even the Lakers players don't take him seriously (see the Kobe interview). Hornets have more experience under their belt now, the lack of which was their biggest detriment last year. Rockets finally have another strong forward so the team isn't dependent on just Yao and McGrady, and additionally they have a much stronger bench than last year. Easily the Western Champ assuming no major injuries to McGrady or Yao.

In b4 bias, I'm a Spursfag
>> Anonymous
it still blows my mind that a team with allen iverson AND carmelo anthony on it can be as bad as the nuggets. and they say chemistry is overrated...
>> Anonymous
>>426782

you seem to be forgetting the Rockets thrashing the Lakers before the playoff last year, WITHOUT Yao. Smaller, agile centers may have an offensive edge over Yao, but tend to get scored on more by him too due to size disadvantage. TMac is one of the few guards that can nullify Kobe's edge over an opposing team in terms of minimizing the scoring disparity while Battier is an excellent defender, Yao will be fine against either Gasol or Bynum (although the former is more likely to be playing C), and Bynum is no Artest.
>> Anonymous
Lol at Lakersfags getting such enormous hardons for Bynum like he's the next Shaq or something. The guy's career average is 7.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg. Most teams have bench players who average better than that.

>> Kilgamayan !2BklmILFiE

Jersey's #5 at best. They're not finishing ahead of Boston, Detroit, Orlando or Cleveland.

There are a number of other teams that would probably finish ahead of them after that (Atlanta, Philadelphia, Miami if Wade stays healthy), but those 4 are locks.
>> Anonymous
>>427056

If you are referring to the RJ trade, then it was a talent downgrade, but it's also a move that gives them flexibility in 2010. The problem with the Nets was that VC and RJ are basically duplicates with VC being able to create for himself and others, how they fare in the last few years is pretty good indication that having a second allstar wingman isn't going to put them anywhere on the map, so might as well shred some salary and add more size. Also, the frontcourt with Sean/Boone isn't going to become elite bigs anytime soon, so there wasn't anything wrong with acquiring Yi.

>>426787

That's because Denver has NOTHING aside from scoring talent. Guys like AI, Melo, JR, and Kleiza who can score in bursts can't replace their lack of defense, lack of a playmaker and 3 point specialist. The only consistent play they can run is the alley oop, and once the game goes half court their offense they have to rely on Melo or AI iso to draw fouls.
