Well the cubs aren't done yet, still alot of free pitching on the market and with Zambrano, the couple of young kids they picked up from the Sox, they aren't in too bad of shape.

Same way he lead the Nationals into the playoffs AM I RITE!?!?!?!!!

Soriano really doesn't project well. He's a swing at anything player with huge power and speed, but that's about it. For the first couple of years in Chicago, he'll probably post VORPs of 30-40, meaning he'll be valuable for about 3 to 4 wins by himself. But that's not going to take Chicago into the playoffs.

ALso, this is an 8 year contract. He may be helpful for years 1 and 2 and perhaps 3, but by then he'll be going on 34 and well into the natural decline phase all athletes go through. Seasons 5 through 8 should be severe dropoffs for him, and he'll still be paid 17 million a year to do it.

You will lead the Cubbies to bankrupcy.

It never ceases to amaze me how there is no common sense regarding the AGE of a player when these deals are made. Teams consistently buy players past their prime, based on name recognition and one great season or post-season. So much money that could be used for many relatively young players who might one day become big stars, players who actually have a motivation to improve and care about their performance.

Right because mediocre teams win the world series in 5 games.

Everything I said about Soriano's contract? Yeah, out the window.

Juan Pierre just got 5 years, 45 million. 9 million per year for a .300 / .350 / .390 hitter. Good, GOD.
