Keep your eye on the ball. I know it's probably the most trite sports phrase ever, but it's true. You want to look the ball into the racket. Actually see the ball hitting the sweet spot. Stay on the balls of your feet, rather than your heels. This relates to the third thing you must do, which is position your body for each shot. Footwork is by far the most important thing in tennis. If you aren't in good position, it's going to be tough to hit it where you want.
