Hot off the press of the NFL Network: Eric Smith who hit Anquan Boldin, was fined $50k and suspended a game.

Faggot deserves to have been suspended for the rest of the season.

yeah. he "launched," so they say
>> Anonymous
That's nothing. Why, back in my day, they took tire irons to one another starting in the second quarter. People played with stump hands and peglegs and didn't bat an eye. Why do you think that the Galloping Ghost was called that? Blood loss!
>> Anonymous
It was a nasty helmet to helmet... if he had launched into the ball instead of the other guys head it would have been fine.
>> Anonymous
I dont think people should be fined unless they had an intention to hurt. He obviously just fucked up, hell he knocked himself out too.
>> Anonymous
Look. He was coming in when boldins position and angle were changed from being hit from behind. Without the first hit, It's helmet to pad contact. I think the fine was wrong.

dudes got the fact he had some guy's leg taken off on his conscience the rest of his life. the fine's insult to injury.
>> Anonymous
I don't agree with the fine. The helmet to helmet contact wasn't intentional. Boldin got hit into the helmet by another guy.

You sir, are fucking retarded.

On second thought, I agree with the fine.

Regardless of intention, they have to take some action for a hit like this, and 50k and 1 game certainly won't kill this guy.

that's almost two games worth of paychecks

Leading with the crown of your helmet into another player's helmet. "Hurp durp was just an accident!"

He's lucky it wasn't a more serious fine/suspention, and he's lucky Boldin isn't hurt.

And Rod Tidwell says hi.

What part of that play was he leading with his helmet? He was upright the whole fucking play. The other guy hits him and Boldin's facemask goes down into the other guys helmet.

Same thing as when Brady went down. Someone trying to make a play, AS THEY ARE PAID AND INSTRUCTED TO DO, and something fucks up. Do I think he should be fined? Yes, that's what a zero tolerance policy is. But nothing about the play was malicious and people should stop trying to portray it as such.

Get over it Cardfags, you weren't finishing better than 6-10 anyway.

I think it was very accidental; if it had been a Cardinals player who hit a Jet like that, it would make sense to fine and suspend the guy, because odds would point to it being a cheap shot made in frustration of losing, but it wasn't, so all signs point to this being a freak accident.

Are you serious? His head was down, charging forward. I'm sure he wasn't intending to go helmet-to-helmet, but without the other player he probably still would have done it. He's getting fined for doing a bonehead play.

The suspension, maybe. The fine no. The hit was clearly unintentional, he was upright during his charge and it would've been helmet to shoulder if the guy didn't come from behind and smack Boldin. His head bobs forward from the back impact, right into the path of Smith's helmet. A freak accident, just like expected in this kind of game when you have players of that size colliding with each other. The punishment essentially adds up to "You did your job just fine, but lolfine and lolsuspension because someone got hurt accidently."
