If you watch the Homestead race today, you will witness the destruction of NASCAR Anonymous
Jimmie Johnson has become the Michael Schumacher of NASCAR. I fucking hate him, and I hate what he and Chand Knaus, his crew chief, have done to the sport.

Ok, I'm assuming that if you're talking about Jimmie Johnson's domination of NASCAR and your post features a picture of Dale Earnhardt (nevermind the fact that it's an insult), you're trolling or you're one of those people that make me ashamed to not openly dislike the series.

I was chatting with somebody about corporate sponsorship in NASCAR just this past week. If you wanna see the destruction of NASCAR, watch next season when most of the companies out there can only afford to sponsor a car for part of the 2009 season.

Yeah, I hate people who cheat too.

I kind of agree, OP. He's not really destroying it, but it sure is lame watching how he raped the second half of the season. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

We nascar redneck-hicks strongly believe that the death of Dale Earnhardt is more important than 911

Damnit, Hamlin isn't doing well and Harvick is near the front. :/

My uncle is going to shit all over me tomorrow for that one.

Well, Carl is doing what he needs to do. Maybe that fucktard David Gilliland will pull one of his (in)famous fuck-ups and crash into Johnson and put him out of the race.

I've been to SEC and ACC football and basketball games. I've been to NFL, NBA and MLB games and ECHL hockey games. And I've also been to several NASCAR races.

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING is as intense as going to a race and having 43 cars going 200 miles per hour literally inches from your face. The wind from the draft whipping you around, the noise of almost 40,000 horsepower, the little bits of rubber constantly peppering you, the smell of the exhaust and unburnt gasoline. It's just, fucking... Amazing. Any true sports fan MUST go to at least one race. TV just doesn't do it justice.

Is NASCAR a sport? Fuck yeah, it's a sport. A fucking INTENSE sport.
>> Heynonnynonnymous
Actually, it's been going downhill ever since some dude named JEFF GORDON started driving and being some sort of poster boy.

F1 came down to the last race, last lap, last corner, in the rain.

Nascar: 18 car wins everything, then the 48 wins everything in the chase...how exciting.

I don't really watch or care about NASCAR, but I am curious about why so many people hate Jimmie Johnson. Explain please?
>> Anonymous
>>472454
He's boring. He only wins during the chase. The rest of the year he skirts by with just enough points to get in. He has no real rivalries with anyone and is never a particularly aggressive driver.
>> Anonymous
nascar isnt a sport so why you postin nascar stuff here?
>> UZ !kHzD4It5Tc
>>472454
He's basically like the Spurs are in the NBA. He wins all the time and drives like an old granny unless there's points at the stake. This is in a sport where people are supposed to go for it and be the winners.

Basically if the Chase wasn't as stupid, he'd never win shit.

I'm going to stop watching Nascar now.
I barely watched it this year and with Jimmie winning three straight when he did almost nothing during the regular season this year is bullshit.
It just shows that the chase is crap and Nascar needs to pull their heads out of their asses and do something about it.
If Dale was still alive, this shit wouldn't have happened.
Fuck it. Sunday is for football only now.

Trolling OP is wrong. It is NASCAR itself that has been ruining NASCAR for both its long-time AND recent fans. To keep it short for /sp/'s basically non-existent attention span for racing, NASCAR is guilty of hogging too many sponsors for itself (The Official Hemorrhoid Creme of NASCAR, etc.), poor rule changes, and that goddamn "Car of Templates." One other thing...

>>472300
This is correct because, with his success, every owner then wanted "the next Jeff Gordon." Thus, you got a bunch of bland, sponsor-friendly pretty boys on the track instead of the best driving talent. Guys like Junior Johnson (no relation), Cale Yarborough, and Buddy Baker would never get rides today because they don't have faces and voices for TV...but, I'd still take any of those old school guys over wastes like Jamie McFurfag (among many others) who isn't fit to lick the juice left over from one of Mark Martin's farts.
>> Anonymous
>>471640
dale earndhart sucked anyway
>> Anonymous
>>473534
you mentioned mark martin

nascar needs to find young racers like him. but they won't since they are all prettyboy emo faggots
>> Anonymous
>>473546
Exactly. But, to be clear, I don't blame Jeff Gordon for who he is, the success he had, or the effect he had on the series. I blame the owners for turning their back on TRUE talent no matter the driver's looks and NASCAR for letting them do it.
>> Anonymous
>>473534
Sponsors *want* pretty boys. So they have to find the best drivers out of that look good. Prime example: Gillette Young Guns.
>> Anonymous
>>473806
True. In a sane world, you'd think a sponsor would rather be associated with a perennial contender instead of a pretty boy. I guess all of the youg kids coming up will need plastic surgery BEFORE they get disfigured in a fire.

>> Anonymous
>>473892
There is no talent in Nascar.
>> Anonymous
>>473896
Wrong.
>> Anonymous
>>473892
He only has talent during the last ten races of the season when it actually counts now. He won what? Two races during the regular season, just enough to keep himself in the chase and then started winning more races.
When people like Kyle Bush and Carl Edwards were winning races in the regular season but that doesn't count towards anything in the chase.
Fact: Get rid of the Chase for the Cup and people will start watching Nascar again.
>> Anonymous
>>473892
There is no doubt that Johnson has "talent" per se. The problem many NASCARfags see is that JJ has never done anything on the track that really shows great driving. He pits, Chad Knauss adjusts the car or makes a strategy call, and he goes to the front. This is different from current drivers such as (for only one example) Tony Stewart who have made passes and course corrections that everybody can see it's HIM doing the deed and not just the machine (not to belittle the physical mechanics part of racing in any way, many just prefer to see both in a championship team).

NASCAR's offices in Daytona Beach and Charlotte would be torched within 12 hours, Brian France would have to don a disguise in order to leave the country for Argentina, and fans would be charging $10 a lap to drag Mike Helton's gutted carcass around The Rock.

What makes you think that they are not?
His crew chief was suspended twice on cheating. Someone is probably paying someone to keep his cheating ways away from the media.
When it actually comes out and is proven Nascar helped Johnson win, they will be finished.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is Tony Stewart that does it.

>> Tennessee's lone /sp/ representative

Yeah. Who would have known? I'd love to see more crossover racers. Well, we've seen a lot of Indy/F-1 crossing over to NASCAR lately, with Montoya the only one having any amount of success whatsoever. Although Villeneuve certainly looked pretty good at Talladega last year and Montreal this year.

But I would love to see more racers like Stewart, Schrader, and Montoya who would like to try anything on 4 wheels.

I became a fan of Montoya back when he won the Indy 500 and I thought it was awesome that he did that Tradin' Paint deal with Jeff Gordon in Indy. Never thought I'd see him in NASCAR but I for one am glad he's here and I hope he can get some success going in 2009 with EGR.

>>476059
With a good car, Montoya is limitless. His Ganassi Dodge's are complete FAIL, but if he's in a car similar to Martin Truex Jr's, he may do something yet.
