Sup, /sp/.

Amerifag here looking into getting into futbol. I've got two questions:

Americans: What channels/sites can I watch matches on?

Brits: What Premier League team should I start following?

1. Fox Soccer Channel is your best option

2. I would recommend watching some matches of some teams before immediately making a decision as to what team you like. When I first started I really enjoyed watching Liverpool and Manchester United, and I support them both. Regardless of them being rivals

FSC doesn't show a lot of Man U. You need to get Sentana or use sopcast to see most of their games.

Go for some mid-range team, so, in 50 years when they finally win something it will feel something great.

I'm a Arsenal fan myself, but i would suggest supporting a steadily improving team such as Portsmouth or Manchester city instead of going for one of the big clubs.

obviously fulham. they have all the american players.

I think ABC will broadcast some MLS games. Anyway, learn spanish.

Try live footy.

Tottenham or Manchester City.

Watch FSC, Use SOPcast.

I suggest not following a team based on strangers' influences. I recommend you watch Barcelona play and then Manchester United. Those two teams play brilliant pass/team football.

FSC wins. it has a lot of variety.
As for a team.
CHLESEA...CHELSEA...CHELSEA!!!

You could always go to ANY VACANT SOCCER FIELD and watch a crowd of mexicans playing at ANY GIVEN TIME OF DAY.

Anyone but Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, or Liverpool.

Following those 4 is the equivalent of being the chick in the pink Red Sox cap.

Gol TV has a lot of mexican, spanish, etc... It's good. No EPL though.

Fox Soccer is great for EPL.

If you're willing to shell out? Go with Setanta. It's got... Everything.

As for who to follow, it really depends. I got into Chelsea because NOBODY else around here follows them, plus I like their kit (jerseys). And they win a lot, so they're more likely to be on TV more than others. As well, I'm part English, so I root for England, and, well, Chelsea has tons of English internationals, like John Terry, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge...

As well, in my eyes, they set the bar a couple years back, causing a HUGE influx of spending in the premier league, seeing tons of great players in.

As far as actual style goes, I like Tottenham, in particular Roy Keane and Dimitar Berbatov. If Dimitar left for Chelsea... Jesus... I... Don't know... It'd be awesome.

My advice? Find a favourite player or coach, preferably one that plays for your favourite national team, and root for them.
>> Captain Fantastic
Oh... When I say Fox Soccer Channel is great for EPL, I mean it's not, but aside from Setanta, it's your only alternative.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS

when i was growing up my (british) dad made me watch tottenham matches with him so i became a fan even from far off california.

havent kept up recently though
>> Captain Fantastic
Oh yeah, I also like Chelsea because I can actually buy their shit around here.

And it'd either be them, or Liverpool, or Manchester, or Arsenal.

And I don't like retards, Cronaldo, or that one kid I know who likes Arsenal.

Cronaldo's a retard, and so are all the Portuguese retards that try to be like him.

you can't just go and pick a team to follow. the team picks you, and not just in soviet russia either. Just watch some games, follow it for a season, and you'll have a preference without making a conscious decision.

Outside the UK, you can't go wrong watching Barça matches. They've been playing beautiful football since the early 90's, sometimes more effectively than others, but they're always fun to watch nonetheless.

when was the last time an english team won the UEFA Cup?
2000, liverpool
the english league may be the best, but all the good team play champions league and keep collecting points in the uefa ranking. but the rest ist shit. and wont win the uefa cup this year again, neither everton nor spurs. sorry mate.

you could go with whatever team's fans get England kicked out of UEFA the next time. that way you know they're the hardcore-est.

Dont support Manchester United. Seriously, their fans are the biggest group of glory hunting fags the world has known.

If you have to support a top/successful club. Your only choice is really Liverpool, consistently under-perform but still do win enough to keep you interested (if you're one of those AmeriKKKans who has to support the winners).

Plus, because they under perform, they're the team more often than not in tricky/exciting situations, which for some reason they seem to revel in (its as if they play shite just so they can wow people with miraculous comebacks).

I think if you have to pick a team, you should pick the one with the most players you enjoy watching, or the team that plays the most entertaining football, in your eyes.

After never seriously beeing into footie, it was watching the earliest moments of this, growing Man U side that got me into the sport proper, and to be honest I think I'll always support them from now on in.
My childhood idea of what a good footballer is was something along the lines of "like Giggs or Scholes" and for some reason they STILL FUCKING PLAY FOR MAN U, only now we also have Roonscape, Ronaldo, Tevez, Nani Anderson and all these other fantastic young talents. I just really dig the philosophy behind Man U's football, the attacking chemistry they have nowadays.

So, yeah, support a team you will enjoy watching and don't be worried about being thought of as a glory hound or some stupid concept like that. Unless you start rubbing how good your team is in the faces of people who have ACTUAL reasons to support clubs, because then you are asking for it after all.
>> Anonymous
>>12933
Wait, so you should support the fags that lose to barnsley or wtfever just because a buncha asians like man u? That makes sense. At least United, Chelsea and Liverpool have players on their country's national team though, fuck frenchy / African ARSEnal.
