Golf: Why shouldn't the crowd be allowed to cheer and scream as much as they want. They call it a concentration sport. Wouldn't it add an extra challenge?

Baseball: Balking should be legal. There's no reason a pitcher shouldn't be allowed to do everything he can to put off the batter.

Boxing: Get rid of weight classes. If you lightweight fags keep talking about technique, style and mobility, then put them fuckers up against some giants.

I don't want to watch a fight where the outcome is known as soon as the bout is announced. What's the point of training your whole life to be a tremendously skillful boxer when you'll always be up against guys twice your size due to circumstances out of your control (genetics).

Sport is mean to be enjoyable. Where's the fun in watching someone like Calzaghe fight that 3m tall Russian monster(It's easter morning and I've forgotten his name)?

In highschool, he was pretty amazing. Michael Jordan (then part-time advisor to the Washington Wizards) highly suggested to the organization that they select him with the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft that year (can't remember the year). They bring him in to a system that really couldn't corporate his style of play. He fails hard. Never adapted to the NBA. He's "decent", but not Overall #1 pick decent.

In that draft, there really wasen't a lot of choice out there anyway. The only notable person from that class was Tony Parker and he was selected 29th OVERALL! TWENTY NINTH!

How would that work? You can't promote minor league baseball or hockey teams as they're all affillated with one or two major league teams. I'm not sure how the NBDL works, and as far as the NFL goes, what are we going to promote arena league teams?

Baseball: Pitch clock + once you step inside the batter's box, each time you leave counts as a strike

Hockey - No TV timeouts. It ruins the pace of the game. The most annoying thing is paying for tickets to watch the players do nothing every ten minutes. There are enough stoppages as is.

Football - Revoke the Carson Palmer rule. Also, the "defenseless reciever" rule should only apply to helmet-to-helmet hits (if it doesn't already)

It could work in baseball if the minor leagues club would disassociate themselves from their big league partners.

This is the main problem with American sports: FRANCHISING. Power is not with the clubs because they are franchises of some central business.

If each club had power owned their own players and had more power, we could form lower leagues for football, basketball, baseball etc. The main appeal of promotion/relegation is that some team formed by you and your buddies from Hickville USA can make it all they way to the big leagues. Also, it'd fix all this tanking losing teams do for better draft spots by actually have real punitive damages for losing.

I'm pretty sure it could be at least implemented in MLS right now. And could probably be implemented in MLB if clubs / MLB weren't so greedy.

so if a defensive back knows he's about to get burned by a receiver, he should just hold on and replay down as 3rd and 15? You want to penalize an offense who could actually convert for the first down on the play and make them try again?

>Put some logos and shit on your clothes or fields

Fuck no, I don't want the NHL to start looking like this shit.

It wouldn't remove or reduce tv ads anyway, the whole point is to increase revenue, not transfer methods of obtaining the same amount. Plus most leagues get their big money through TV deals.
>> Anonymous
>>42509
That's ridiculous, the NHL plays four times as many games as the NFL and a single point or game can mean the difference between playing golf or getting over the playoff cutoff, and I'm certain the same happens in the NBA. Often playoff spots aren't determined for certain until the last week of the season, even later (last year the Islanders sneaked themselves into the playoffs in the very last game of the regular season)
>> Anonymous
>>42536

While it's not quite that bad, the rinks are already covered in advertising.
>> Anonymous
>>42544

You ever seen a european rink? They have ads on the boards, the dots, inside the circles, in the crease, and even the refs.

Not to mention the funny yellow helmets german refs wear.

Rugby League - Stop bothering with scrums, there is no point to them unless your actually going to put the ball in the middle of the scrum like in union.

Also, fuck league.

Are you sure you're watching boxing? I'm pretty fucking sure there's not a lightweight around claiming that they can take the heavier classes. The only one that is making that noise is David Haye, a cruiseweight saying that he'll clean up the the heavyweight division or some shit. Name some names before I fucking believe you.
>> Anonymous
>>42544
Watch the Spengler Cup sometime, ads can go far, far beyond just the boards.

Hell, even putting ads on the offensive/defensive zone faceoff circles wouldn't be *that* bad. Ultimately the ice and boards are simply a neutral playing space, it's the teams and their colours/logos that are sacred. Whether or not one believes soccer is a lame sport, I think it looks fucking awful having their teams colours tarnished by corporate whoring, let alone to the degree it happens in european hockey leagues. I've always considered it a point of pride that with the exception of an obvious logo of the manufacturer, jerseys and uniforms worn in North American leagues have kept themselves free of Nascar-esque sponsorships.

Hockey: Intentinal line changes during an icing = unsportsmenlike penalty. Delaying the game for 2 minutes to go to the video and find out who was on the ice is fucking gay.

Also: Whenever a player is called for diving, negate the orgional penalty. If someone dives then how did they really hook/trip them?
>> Anonymous
>>42736
The ball does go in the middle of the scrum though?

I actually prefer the faster scrums in league tbh, they get them over and done with. I wouldn't be surprised if they're written out of the laws within a couple of decades.

In saying that they do serve their purpose, I just wish there was an alternate way to take out the forwards for a play.

Scrums in rugby union are annoying to me because it seems 90% of them need to reset for various errors.

For the amount of time they spend on resetting them over and over we could be watching the ball in play. The constant stoppages can really ruin the game.

tl,dr;
RL: Get rid of scrums pls
RU: Get rid of scrums and lineouts pls
>> Anonymous
NBA: Limit the number of time-outs or anything to stop the game slowin down at the end.. Maybe keep the clockin runnin college style.
>> Anonymous
>>42869

As a hooker on my college's rugby union team--it's never gonna happen. The reason that you always see them being reset is because it's a prop's strategy to go down when he doesn't like the way the scrum is going. It's kind of like diving in ice hockey. Make that a more serious offense and I'm sure scrums would set on the first time, every time.

>>42785
Just because somebody dives doesn't mean they weren't actually hooked or tripped--it just means they made some theatrics to convince the refs the hook/trip was bigger than it was.

This. I'm sick of midmarket teams not being able to compete for talent they nutured and brought up from the minors. A salary cap would bring parity to the teams and not allow the Red Sox/Yankees/Dodgers/Angels/Tigers to outbid everyone else.

Shit, the Twins got fucked on the Santana deal because there were only 2 or 3 teams that could actually afford him. A salary cap would make the entire league more competitive and you wouldn't see the same teams consistently at the top of the divisions.

>>42886it just means they made some theatrics to convince the refs the hook/trip was bigger than it was

That doesn't matter anymore. The zebras are supposed to call hooks/slashes/trips no matter how innocuous they were. Granted, some refs are more lenient than others, but the NHL wanted those penalties called to "speed up the game", ironically.
