Any jersey collecting fags here?

Just wanted to vent my frustrations. I love jerseys, but I'm getting a little sick of giving the apparel manufacturers excessive money for a plastic shirt that doesn't look any better than models from 4, 5, or more years ago. Or worse, nearly identical. Pic related.

In any case, I went to check out the jerseys for this year at my local store, and lo and behold, Adidas has re-discovered relief printing and now all the jerseys have silly patterns in them. Nike's retro theme has worn out unusually fast (maybe because they're just looking at old photos and copying the jerseys detail-for-detail), and Puma's quality is terrible compared to what they were producing around the turn of the century.

More comparos to prove my point:

I still have the blue United away shirt. Don't collect them. It just still fits. Usually blue home one season, away the next.

Italy 03-04 on the left, Italy 08-09 on the right. IMO, 03-04 was the classiest jersey ever. The new ones actually feel like fakes, and aren't inspiring at all.

I bought 2 this year(Barca-Messi home and Iniesta away), to add to the 6 from previous year. Dunno why I buy them, I hardly have the money.

I bought the new yellow Barca away shirt because the smart people at soccersports put it on the previous season sale. Pique's number was out then so I didn't bother with a name.

Wait, i'm not sure i understand you here. You want the jerseys to look radically different from year to year? But it's the "uniform" of the team! Arsenal has had the red shirt with white sleeves since the 1930s or something. The design isn't so much a question of aesthetics as just the identity of the team.

The JVC shirt was awesome.

I have some pretty good jerseys, even though I'm a firm Liverpool fan I still have a Arsenal with Dreamcast on and a Man U (pic) which I really like, but ofc can't wear in public ;)

I don't like adidas new styles, i'd just like a old school normal shirt with three stripes or bring back the 94 stripes <3

Of course, the problem doesn't lie with the color scheme or patterns (which in 95% of cases won't change, it's true)

I think it would be great if the manufacturers could put out a simple, clean, classic design, and keep it for years and years, changing only sponsors as necessary. But sadly, since most people would buy a jersey and keep it for all those years, the teams/sports companies wouldn't make as much merchandising money as they do. So they put new designs out that aren't necessarily better in any way, they're just different for the sake of being different, and I feel like lately, they're a lot worse.
