USA* *
All of the NBA discussion here of late got me to thinking about other recent (and past) revelations regarding the major professional sports leagues in the US and how many asterisks should rightfully be given out.

NFL prime examples over past 30 years: Patriots* (cheating with video tape), 49'ers* (cheating with money), Steelers* (cheating with steroids)

MLB* (cheating with steroids)

NBA* and especially Lakers* (cheating referees)

NHL* (if only because nobody outside of /sp/ knows what obscure cable channel it is on most of the time + a US-based league with so few US-born stars is just plain fail)

NASCAR* (cheating always prevalent, now thinks it's a stick-and-ball sport with the worst of all forced memes, "The Chase for the Championship")

IndyCar* (all its best drivers leave for NASCAR or F1 and the current most famous driver is a snotty girl with one questionable win)

And that leaves...MLS? Oh shi-

Cheating is out there-everyone knows it. But if you think too much about the cheating, you lose your love for the sport. I'd rather be happy and oblivious than sad and knowledgeable.

Cowboys* - cheating with injury report
Ravens* - scumbag players
Bucs* - using Raiders signals
Steelers* - paid off refs
Broncos* - cheated salary cap
Packers* - bullshit communist team

Buckeyes* - complete shit call

Everyone cheats, too much at stake anymore. Sports suck, an hero etc.

Well, the intent was to focus just on major US-based sports leagues, and also not just on asterisks for cheating (such as the IRL getting one for fail). However, point taken...and sad to think that an American had to resort to cheating to beat anybody from France.

ITT- Spursfag so butthurt he is ready to give up sports.

Anyone have any proof any NBA games were fixed by anyone other than Timmy? No? Then shut the fuck up and realize your team lost because they weren't good enough.

Preempting Kings fans- Game 7, 16-30 and 2-20. Deal with it.

>>Steelers* (cheating with steroids)

Sorry retard but steroids were legal in the NFL back then and every team used them. Thus, steroids =/= cheating.

Oh hi butthurt brownsfag

Silly CB, forgetting to post with his tripcode.

Sorry not CB, as I hate tripfags as much as the next guy

And again all NFL teams did steroids back in 70's and early 80's because it was LEGAL

LOL wrong.

You are right and I stand corrected. I should have used a different word such as "tarnished" for their asterisk.
>Oh hi butthurt brownsfag
LOL wrong.

At least 38 former Steelers players have died since 2000, with 17 of them aged 59 or younger. Hmmmmmm...
>Fuck you Patriotfag.
LOL wrong.

They practically all did it in the 80's, but the Steelers were the ones who popularized it in the 70's. It may not have been illegal per se, but they knew what they were doing was unethical.

JUVENTUS

that is all.

The cowboys and raiders of the 70's also practiced this, so it wasn't just the steelers.

I am a cowboys fan too making this comment.

They all get paid too much to not cheat, it was always like this, the first few world series were bought by mobsters

All right all right. I can accept all of those.

BUT YOU CROSS THE FUCKING LINE BY INSULTING THE 49ERS. I'm not a 49ers fag, but just because they made a fuckwin team that owned EVERYBODY just means that other teams are butthurt. The 49ers were a team of legends.

The sad fact of that matter is that teams always have been cheating and will always cheat. The extent to which some teams cheat and the methods they use aren't always the same, but we mostly know of successful teams cheating because they are under much greater scrutiny. Nobody cares when a loser cheats.

It's something that if you think too hard about, it ruins team sports as a whole for you.

^ get? ^
The Niners were indeed a team of legends. However, they kept one or two of those legends (and a lot of their very good backups) by paying them under the table (in various manners) in violation of the rules at the time.

Of course, leave it to /sp/ to think that every thought is an attack or somebody that's butthurt. I just found it interesting to think that so many US-based sports championships in fairly recent times have the taint of cheating and/or failure. I still enjoy sports and, as a 49'ers fan myself, wish they would re-learn how to cheat properly.

For the rest of you who want to pile on with whatever your cum-stained fingers can manage to type out, my other favorite teams are the Reds, Nuggets, and none in the NHL since they killed off Pucky (Brass Bonanza is now playing in your heads again, motherfuckers!).

The Vikes and the Seahawks played some dirty tricks on each other a few years ago. Vikes got Hutch and Hawks got Burleson. I forgot the exact details but I think it involved making it impossible for the other team to make a greater offer on their respective players. That was a minor thing, and it just goes to show that just about every team plays dirty (or sometimes cheats) to get things to go their way.

Does it work out in the end? Most of the times, no. Just look at the Pats this season.
