I'm gonna need you to relax your anus...

John Vanbiesbrouck was the first starting goalie of the Florida Panthers (which played in downtown Miami until 1998...so yes for a few years Miami did have a hockey team). Despite losing out to Mike Richter as the Rangers starting goalie, he had his best years in Florida, and was among the top tier of netminders in the NHL during the mid-90's. He left Florida in 1998.

Scott Mellanby was a starting forward for Florida as well. Before Florida, he was a solid second-line forward. In Florida, he was one of Florida's top scorers. He was best known for creating the legendary "rat trick" and helping the Panthers getting to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996. He left Florida in 2001.

OP, how does Shaq's ass taste?

Dan Marino cannot occupy the top of this list. Unlike Alonzo Mourning, Gary Sheffield, and Dwayne Wade, Marino has not brought the hardware back to Miami.

Records will fall, championships last forever.

This list sucks. Are you 13? Or do you just not remember anything pre-1995?

I'm only including the pro teams (The Hurricanes could easily have their own list) and I'm rating them by how good they were when they played in Miami, i.e. No Shaq.

1.Marino - QB Dolphins (HOF)
2.Wade - G Heat
3.Paul Warfield - WR Dolphins (HOF)
4.Dwight Stephenson - C Dolphins (HOF)
5.Alonzo Mourning - C Heat
6.Jason Taylor - DE Dolphins
7.Larry Little - OG Dolphins (HOF)
8.Mark Clayton - WR Dolphins
9.Miguel Cabrera - 3B Marlins
10.Jake Scott - S Dolphins

That's my opinion. Not as sexy as putting a bunch of Panthers or Marlins in there but the reality is that most of the great Miami players have been Dolphins.
