>Manager Joe Maddon heard Phillies pitcher Joe Blanton's explanation that the curious dark splotch on the bill of his cap during Game 4 was "just dirt from the ball." And, the day after raising the issue, Maddon said he wasn't buying it. "Umm, I don't think so," Maddon said Monday. "That's very unusual. How many guys have that mark on their hat?" Maddon was measured in his actions Sunday, pointing out the spot to home-plate umpire Tom Hallion but refraining from making any accusations or asking Hallion to check Blanton for illegal substances. Hallion, according to MLB officials, also would have had the option of checking Blanton himself.

LOL Bawwww indeed... It was sweat and dirt... deal with it...

They checked his hat, and it is not pine-tar... cry me a fucking river.

No, they did not check his hat.

it's the same hat he has been using since spring training, and before your dumbass says "it's a new hat"... no it's fucking not....

they take their hats and add the world series patch... if you don't believe that, you can go on youtube and see a video of the rays doing it themselves.....

this is the same hat this dude uses every day whether he's starting, throwing in practice, or warming in the bullpen... he rubs his hand on his forehead like a hundred times a game, and has a nervous tick of thumbing his cap at the same spot... it's fucking dirt and sweat on his cap... get the fuck over it...

do you know what deleware mud is?

probably not since you have been watching baseball for 2 weeks and counting

more premptive crying from former rays bandwagoners with busted ankles?

Blanton wipes the residue off of his fingers every now and then. Also, he doesn't change his hat often.

He did the same thing in Oakland, look.

Usually, cheaters find a less conspicuous place to hide such cheat-aides.

It's funny that Philly fans are talking about someone else bawwwwwwwwwwing, when all last night they bitched and moaned about the rain, the umps (whom favored philly most of the game), and Selig.

Philly fans have to be the biggest bunch of hypocritical assholes. Well, just plain assholes actually.

Yes. Because getting scammed out of a run while being made to play in the slop (while the other team didn't have to play the bottom of the inning) is the same thing as a conspiracy theory involving a dark spot on a pitcher's hat.

Last time i checked, the Upton still managed to steal a base and round third in fucking slop. So J-Roll can catch a routine fly.
>> Anonymous
>>436251

In the rain, pitching and defending is infinitely more difficult that being on offense.

In the slop, all you have to do is make contact and watch the chaos ensue.

He rounded third at a snail's pace, knowing that the ball was rooster-tailing and that Burrell had no shot to plant and throw.
>> Anonymous
>>436253
No it fucking isn't. Not when the umpires have a strike zone the size of cadillac (You see one of the strikes against Iwamura? It was so high and inside Stevie Wonder was pissed.) . And when the ball is just as hard to see for hitting as it is for catching. You think seeing a pitch is somehow easier than seeing a flyball?

Grow the fuck up. Both teams had it rough out there. But, I know how Phillies fans are fucking retards, so I guess I shouldn't really be too baffled by their idiotic bawwwwwwwwwwing.

It's so they can use it for indoor soccer when the Rays finish third next season and their attendance drops by 90%.

No, he rounded it at a snails pace because he didn't want to fall in the mud. It's not like he had SUPER CLEETS that stick to any service.

You can't call the game at a half-inning.

The sixth inning should have been completed - and, now that it wasn't, it should either be started over or the game itself should be replayed.

The Rays are going to lose. I don't see why we are fighting.

You do realize that Umpires regularly check the balls after they are pitched. They have the catcher hand them the ball.

Pinetar would easily be spotted and more investigations would ensue

Phillies fan here. And, I'm not so sure.

Anything can happen in the coming 3-inning shitfest.

Then, it's probably Shields and Kazmir again in Tampa Bay, depending on the length of the delay. (If not Kazmir, then Garza).

I have little faith in Myers and Moyer on the road.

Hamels will pitch game 7 if it goes that far, guaranteed. He'd have at least three days rest, probably four.

Moyer will not pitch. At any rate, the goddamn Phillies should win tomorrow. Should. Shit is never, EVER easy.

Are they going to have new starting pitchers going tonight or is whoever finished last nights game going to start?
>> Anonymous
>>436365
Hamels is due up.

They will sub in a hitter and make a switch.
>> Anonymous
>>436352

Well, it's going to be interesting.

If you're the Phillies, I think you pinch-hit with Dobbs to lead off (in place of Hamels) and hope he gets on to give the top of your line up something to play with. Against Price, it won't be easy.

I believe the Phillies' hope lies in nickel-and-diming 1 run in the bottom of the 6th, and trusting that Romero-Madson-Lidge don't concede the tying run.

The Rays' best hope lies in keeping the score at 2-2 long enough to force Chad Durbin or Scott Eyre to pitch to the heart of their line-up. If Upton, Longo and Pena face either of those two frumpy white boys, I don't think they're going to miss their shot.

If the Phillies can sneak a run and go Romero-Madson-Lidge, then the Phillies are World Champions.

If the game goes into the top of the 11th or 12th at 2-2 with Eyre on the mound, then we're all going back to Tampa Bay. (I think this scenario is more likely)

If the Phillies pick up a run in the bottom of the sixth, and go on to win, even though they pinch-hit, Cole Hamels still gets a Win, right?

That's called strategy, not bawww. He is getting his team pissed off enough to annihilate the Rays. It isn't his fault that Joe Maddon is reveling in his stardom, and soaking in all the camera time he can get.

Both teams need to stfu and get ready for epic lulz.

After waiting 2 months in rain delays the Phillies and Rays turn parkas into uniforms to continue play. As game 5 resumes in a raging snowstorm Grant Balfour uses the unusual trick of making a snowball and hurling it to the catcher, tricking everyone into thinking it was the baseball. On a 2-2 pitch Ryan Howard demolishes it into a misty residue. Unsure of what really happened, the umpire awards Howard 1st base before changing his mind and raising his fist for a strikeout to the chants of "Platoon player at best."

Matt Stairs sits in the stands staring into the bullpen making the Rays relievers nervous. After they become fearful and refuse to play hoping they don't have to face him, the game is called due to a shortage of players and the World Series is deemed a tie.

I don't know about you guys, but the ending of Game 4 was so shitty. With Matt Stairs on deck, Ruiz hits a grounder that goes 45 feet to win it. I was hoping he would strike out or pop up, just so Matt Stairs could saunter up to the plate and hit a 1000 foot home run.

As much as I dislike the Phillies, that would have been awesome.
