We may be looking at the end of the Tom Brady era. Anonymous
Doctors are aggressively fighting an infection in Tom Brady's surgically repaired left knee, according to a report on the Boston Herald's Web site on Wednesday.

Tom Brady

Brady

Brady recently acknowledged on his Web site that doctors went in "to clean and to test the wound" on Oct. 15 because of the infection. A source told the Herald that the New England Patriots quarterback has had two more similar procedures since then.

The same source told the newspaper that if the infection is not brought under control, the patellar tendon graft used to replace Brady's anterior cruciate ligament could become compromised. If that happens, he will have to undergo another surgery on the ACL. That would reset the clock on his rehabilitation.

Brady had surgery on Oct. 6, 29 days after he was injured in the Patriots' season opener, on a hit by Kansas City Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard. Brady reportedly tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in the knee.

FUCK. FUCK. FUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

Cassel won't cut it that common sense, they need to plug in O'Connell I think he'll make a great QB. He's got a hell of an arm but he's not very good under pressure yet.

FUCK.

The Patriots brought this on themselves for never drafting a "QB prospect" in recent years.
>> Anonymous
Put him on a Rascal Scooter and run slants all day. They'd probably be at least mediocre.
>> Anonymous
>>424932
Why? They shouldn't have. Brady is 31, it's not like they're the Packers with an aging Brett Favre and have to draft a "top draft QB".

GUYS IT'S COOL YOU GOT MATT CASSEL BACK THERE UNLEASHING THE DRAGON AMIRITE???

Cassel will grow into a top tier NFL QB. I am confident in saying this.

Tom Brady still won 3 superbowls. So he's really 3-1.

lol

>>424961

Possibly. As someone who loved 18-1, I can still say he was a great QB. I'm not sure which would be more amusing though, this becoming a career-ending injury, or him sucking upon returning to the NFL.

>>424937
>it's not like they're the Packers with an aging Brett Favre and have to draft a "top draft QB".

The Packers always had a back-up QB, even in the middle of Favre's run. Hell, afterwards most of them became starters on other teams.

Ty Detmer
Mark Brunell
Doug Pederson
Matt Hasselbeck
J.T. O'Sullivan

I guess Doug Pederson is the exception to your "most of them became starters" exclamation.

He started the first half of an Eagles season while Donovan learned the job.

And he really fucking sucked, too.

he made the pro-bowl 3 times with the jags and had more td's than ints every year but one. Brunell was hella decent with the jags.
>> Anonymous
>>424961
Not at ALL a Pats fan, but I agree. His numbers, especially last year were absurd, and three Super Bowls in ANY era, much less one with free agency and incredible parity like today, is simply an astonishing feat (and he threw 50 TDs AFTER they stopped cheating.)

>>424979
Doug Pederson sucked, but wasn't he briefly the starting QB for the Browns (basically by default)?

Not a Jagfag either, but I always liked Brunell for some reason.

im not sure now i feel about bradys injuries ending his career. i hate the douche with a passion, but this just doesnt seem right. kind of like an old nemesis that you respect and that you want to see fail miserably. plus, if hes forced to retire, hell be remembered as one of the best ever. what i want is for him to come back, play terribly, and then hopefully everyone will realize how much of a bum he truly is.

It's sad if his career is over. No athlete should ever have to suffer a career ending injury. It just goes to show you though, he was the reason for the Patriots success. I'm not a Pats fan in the slightest, in fact I cheered so goddamn much during the last Super Bowls final minutes.

However, he still is the best QB in the NFL right now, and maybe ever. The only QBs with a chance to be labeled better, are either not in the NFL yet, are rookies, or are second years who are still developing. Everyone else has had their chance to be the next Tom Brady and has failed.

I think this is the guy who thinks Ben Roethlisberger is the best QB in the league. So it's obvious why he hates the QBs who are obviously better than Big Ben.

In all reality, if Brady wasn't injured and was a free agent, you'd have to think that about 20 teams would SERIOUSLY consider benching their starter for him. As for Roethlisberger...10 teams at the most. No teams from the AFC/NFC East would take Ben right now.

It's a toss up between those two. As soon as Manning won his SB, he got back into the debate for best QB ever. However, I think he needs another SB to top Brady. Manning has had one of the best WRs ever for his whole career, as well as an elite offensive line. Brady has had a great O-line, but never really had that elite WR before Moss, and look what the fucker goes and does, throws 50 TDs. It's not his fault the Giants stepped up and kicked some major ass that one day in February.
>> Anonymous
>>425030
> no teams from the AFC East
so matt cassel, brett favre, trent edwards, and chad pennington will ALL have better careers than ben from this point on? thats crazy talk
id even say, from this point on, that ben will have a better career than tom brady (assuming he comes back from injury)
>> Hexagram !iKGMr61IHM

Ben is by far the best QB in the league as it currently stands and in my opinion (and many others) probably has the brightest future for a QB in the NFL. he's been money since Day 1. anyone who denies that Ben WINS is trolling. and he puts up more than respectable stats in the process.

>>425035
The guys got a great team around him, all the weapons he needs. He just isn't an over-the-top QB. If he was he wouldn't struggle in the big games. Willie Parker, Hines Ward, Heath MIller, Pittsburgh's O-line and DEF...they're all in the top-10 of their categories. So why can't Roethlisberger destroy every team he plays. The Eagles game made me realize that he can't dominate every team he plays even with all his weapons.

>>425042

yeah. big ben is by no means the best qb in the league, in my opinion, but you can't cite his fucking o-line as proof that he's underachieving. im not gonna look it up, but isn't he one of the most (if not the most) sacked qbs in pro football?

Brady only threw 50 tds when they kept the 1st team offense in until the 2 minute warning in every single blowout. They also fucking play in the AFC East. Peyton threw 49 playing in the AFC South and without throwing more than 2 passes in the final regular season game.

Manning is a spoiled bitch. What happened the moment his O-line and pro bowl reciever don't cover for him? He's mediocre at best, jumpy at worst. Spoiled bitch.

Brady was raised without recievers and a mediocre offensive line, and without a RB to take the heat off him. It makes sense that when suddenly he gets targets to throw at, and a halfway decent running game he turns out to be pretty damn good. I thinks its too early to say phenomenal or "best ever" or whatever. it was one season, and he had some phenomenal offensive weapons. I want to see how he is on his return, and without a perfect Randy Moss and subpar running game...
>> Anonymous
>>425582

Except Corey Dillon, was better than any other scrub RB they have or had in the past 10 years, and since that isn't much of a feat considering the competition he was just a beast in general. Dillon was a master of the stiff arm.
