I'm so happy they got the NL CY right.
>> Anonymous
Yeah. I was surprised it was unanimous though; Lidge had one hell of a season.

AL's even more clear, I suppose.

The fags on PTI said Lincecum should've finished 4th or 5th

a great season for a closer isn't worth shit. i was gonna rage real hard if he won a cy young

WHEN CAMERON WON NL CY YOUNG

LET MY CAMERON THROOOOOOOOW

They usually know their stuff. I guess they're stuck in the stone ages where "wins" are considered the best stat.
>> Anonymous
Yeah, they got the NL Cy Young right. Here's to hoping that Hallady gets the AL Cy Young.
>> Anonymous
>>463785

Yup, Halladay picking up his second on Thursday.

FUCK THIS SHIT. CC SABBATHIA WAS WAY MORE DESERVING THAN THIS CUNT.

11-2 with a 1.65 ERA and SEVEN COMPLETE GAMES in 17 starts
>> Anonymous
>>464081
CC also had a terrible time while still in Cleveland. The Cy Young is over the entire year.
>> Anonymous
What's more amazing, is that he's from the University of Washington. Grasping grass up there in Montlake.
>> Anonymous
>>464081
Yeah, and Lincecum's shitty bullpen blew 5 of his leads and I recall three of which that he had left the game with a 4+ run lead. He also had about 3 more quality starts that ended in no decisions including one where he went 7-8 innings deep and the Giants ended up losing 1-0 to the Rockies....in Coors.

Going 18-5 while playing for a team so offensively challenged that they could only manage 94 total homeruns and had Benjie fucking Molina hitting clean-up the whole year deserves a Cy Young in my opinion.
>> Anonymous
>>464101

Yeah, CC had a terrible time. that 3.83 ERA in Cleveland was really killing him.
>> Anonymous
>>464125
Lincecum's ERA never went above 2.79 throughout the whole year, what's your point?
>> Anonymous
Nor Cal Brewersfag here. I actually saw a Lincecum game. Actually I saw all three games between the Giants and Brewers in July. It was actually funny because there were almost no fans at the friday or saturday games, but the sunday game, the Lincecum-pitched game drew a full crowd. Lincecum got his ass lit up. Brauny had a three run HR, Hart had some RBIs, I think we hung seven on that bitch through 5 or so.
>> Anonymous
Brewersfag here. The right guy won. Congrats, Lincecum.

CC was fucking amazing, but only for a few months in the NL. He deserved the mentions but I don't think he deserved the award. That Clutch Player of the Year Award, sure, but not the Cy Young.

>Lincecum's shitty bullpen blew 5 of his leads

Johan Santana.jpg

Though the Brewers beat Lincecum, that Braun game was full of bad coaching. Bruce Bochy was getting a lot of heat for not letting Lincecum pitch deeper into games due to pitch count. Blowchee then let Lincecum pitch to Braun with a high pitch count (120+) instead of pulling him. Lincecum had no command that game and pulling him was a no brainer but we have veteran ass licking French coach extraordinaire Bruce Bochy to thank for that little inflation of ERA.
>> Anonymous
>>464125
>>464132

This is not comparable because NL has no DH. Of course CC would have a higher ERA in the AL.
>> Anonymous
>>464132

It was a rebuttal to the previous poster saying CC had a terrible halfyear with the indians.
>> Anonymous
>>464207
Oh wow, so a single DH accounts for a whole run per game on a pitchers ERA? You're fucking nuts.
>> Anonymous
>>464222
look at the combined DH batting average, and then the combined pichers batting average.

its more likely than you think
>> Anonymous
>>464226
So you're implying Cliff Lee's ERA would be 1.54 if he were in the NL?
>> Anonymous
>>464219
He DID have a shitty time when he played for the Indians

Dodgerfag here. Lincecum was the right choice.
>> Metsfag No. 124968 !q2ZLb2hZmU
>>463785
It wasn't unanimous, according to the Mets' website Santana got four votes for 1st place.

I don't think Santana should have won, and the right choice was made.

Although I can't help but think about those seven leads of Johan's the bullpen blew.

23-7? Jesus shit.

Regardless, congratulations to Lincecum. I hope he gets 400k's next season.

>>464318

W-L record has no bearing on how well a pitcher did. A good pitcher have a better WHIP and K/9.
>> Anonymous
>>464327
this.

also, webb and santana both got 4 first-place votes, i believe. another dodgersfag here - lincecum is the real deal, and i couldn't be happier that the jints have absolutely zero offense - with lincecum and cain, they'd be scary with even a halfway-decent lineup.

Our new owner is set on acquiring a power bat or two. We have the pitching depth to trade for power and the money to make a run on any worthwhile FA's. If Brian Sabean does half his job than we'll be strong contenders in 2010. I just hope he doesn't fuck it up like when he almost traded Lincecum for Rios last year. '09 will be what this past season should've been, which is developing our proven young players.

As for the Dodgers, they look like they have some crazy good young bats but with Sabean Jr. (lolColletti thanks for taking this douche off our hands) the Dodgers are on the way down. With how weak the West is looking next year, as long as the Giants shore up their bullpen and add just one bat they'd be contenders (in the West).

Where is Red on this one???

Diamondbackfag, the right guy one, Webb could have clinched it but he had a three game streak towards the end where he was terrible and that lost it for him

>If Brian Sabean does half his job than we'll be strong contenders in 2010.

... if. if. ififififififif. your young talent is really good. your gm is awful.

>Sabean Jr. (lolColletti thanks for taking this douche off our hands)

ugh, don't remind me. this guy's going to manage to let ramirez walk, whiff on CC, and end up signing joe crede and (re-signing) brad penny to 15-million dollar deals. on the plus side, la could fall pretty far and still be ahead of sf based on the last couple of seasons. i think your team's got a good foundation to build for the future, but there's still a lot that could go wrong (and that's not even factoring in the inevitable hiring of dusty baker as manager, whereupon lincecum will be asked to throw 450 innings and his elbow will explode midway through august).

>Webb could have clinched it but he had a three game streak towards the end where he was terrible and that lost it for him
Haren was better than Webb all season, until that 3 game stretch when both sucked.
>your young talent is really good
uh, Posey and??????
>> Anonymous
>>464377
Haren pitched better a lot of times, but Webb always seemed to have better results, Haren did end up with more K's though

>>464377
You might not have noticed but the Giants have quietly turned their once terrible farm into a top 5 one LOADED with top pitching prospects and a few young bats.

additionally, that guy in the picture at the start of the thread isn't bad. he's like 97 years old, though, right? not young at all...

Giants fans are still hoping some of those rumors like trading Ethier, Loney, Martin, etc. pan out.

Some of us are also keen on that one Asian chick to be our new GM once Soybean's contract is up next year.
>> Anonymous
>>464391
kim ng. goddamn she should have gotten the job over flanders.

also, highly unlikely any of the 3 you mentioned get traded, though i'd see ethier as the most likely to go (loney's got PLAYOFFS DON'T TALK ABOUT PLAYOFFS success and martin is a fan fave, but andre was still fighting for playing time over juan pierre as late as july this season).

>>464409
I'm hoping we can unload Aaron Rowand (or Errant Throwin' as we like to call him) to the Whitesox for Konerko. One bad 12mil contract for another where everyone is happy. Then we can sign a guy like Furcal to shore up the middle infield. That and patching the bullpen will make us decent contenders in the West.

We're really just looking towards 2010 to really compete. We'll get Bumgarner and Tim Alderson up to the majors by then and with Zito and Bum being lefties, Johnathan Sanchez becomes a decent trading chip. Guys like Posey and Gillaspie will be brought up too. Were it not for Sabean's past incompetence and fear of him fucking everything up, SF fans would actually be really excited.

How it should have gone:

1. Tim Lincecum
2. Johan Santana
3. CC Sabathia
4. Jake Peavy
5. Cole Hamels
