>Report: NHL considers second team in Toronto

Oh, that's a shame.
>> Detroiter !zg3qAF9X/E
Why not a team in Hamilton, Winnipeg, or Quebec first?

BRING BACK THE WHALE BEFORE YOU FUCKING CONSIDER GIVING TORONTO A SECOND TEAM!!!!

I don't care about how big the GTA market is...they already have a fucking hockey team. Bring back the Whale! Connecticut is right in the middle of the New York and Boston TV markets, it would do awesome...it has before!

Winnipeg's current arena is too small...

The Colisee Pepsi would have to be renovated...

Hartford needs a new fucking arena with a capacity of over 17,000 before it can consider hosting another NHL franchise...

Hartford? The whale? They only beat vancouver once, maybe twice, in a lifetime
>> Detroiter !zg3qAF9X/E
>>425922
You don't think that they would build a new Arena if they would be guaranteed a new franchise?
>> Anonymous
>>425924
Well, Peter Karmanos, the owner of the Whalers, tried to convince the Connecticut government to have a new arena for the Whalers to be built with public money, but that deal fell through and the Whale wound up in Carolina...

If an arena can be built with privately raised funds, I'm certain the NHL wouldn't hesitate on bringing the Whalers to Hartford.
>> Detroiter !zg3qAF9X/E
Karmanos built that huge ass compuware building out here in Detroit, don't think he couldn't foot the bill if he was a greedy/money grubbing asshole who tried to hold Connecticut hostage, and they called him and he was like, whoops...brb, Carolina. If they wouldn't have won their cup in Carolina they'd be on the verge of heading back.

Supposedly Winnipeg's arena can be expanded. Basically lift the roof and add a third tier of seating.

Hamilton, Ontario is going to be the next city that gets a team; Nashville should have moved there already, but the NHL stupidly sold the team to someone who promised to keep the team in Nashville for the time being, and then just a few months later saw his dick cut off by the FBI for ripping people off, which once again shows the NHL's biggest problem is it's having retarded owners, and the NHL only selling teams to even more retarded owners. Thus, the NFL, NBA and MLB laugh heartily as the NHL gets raped by the feds..............

Wait, a second team in Toronto? They need one team before thinking about going to two.

No, I'm a Habs fan and I find the Leafs' failure hilarious. I just don't like stale jokes.

If the Whalers came back, would PETA protest Hartford's season openers?

Hartford deserves an NHL team in this day and age as much as Topeka, Kansas.

Outrageous statement is outrageous.

"Greater Hartford" metropolitan statistical area = #45 (2007 est. pop. 1,189,113)

Topeka metropolitan statistical area = #189 (2007 est. pop. 228,692)

Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan statistical area = #46 (2007 est. pop. 1,128,183)

And, unlike Nashville (#39), people actually play hockey in and around Hartford.

theres actually a fairly decent hockey/floor hockey playing population around Nashville. I know that I see a fair number of Predators jerseys and i don't even live in nashville

Leaffag here,

So, they won't let a team in Hamilton, but one right down the street is fair game? I'm convinced the city of Toronto is determined to see how many shitty teams they can sellout.

Also, seconding BRING BACK THE WHALE

Seattle is building a new arena to fit Basketball and Hockey

So I'm sure they are in the running for a new expansion team.

Also, what about Milwaukee?

Hartford deserves an NH: franchise, they've already proved they can support a pro franchise in hockey and other sports.

Bring back the Whale!
