Corluka and Saviola are the only ones who might actually come to City. All the others are completely impossible, especially Messi and Ronaldo, no matter the amount.

City might get into the CL next year, at the cost of Arsenal, but anything more than that is unlikely. They got Robinho, because he wanted to leave and Madrid were willing to sell, for the right amount. The likes of Messi, Ronaldo,Torres,...are impossible for them.
>> Anonymous
>>315482
same can be said to half the players in Chelsea's squad

City will only succeed if they go after young/semi-unknown players. Even Abramovich wasn't as stupid/ambitious as these sandniggers. Abramovich went after Makelele, Drogba, Cech etc. aka realistic targets. Going after Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka etc is just laughable.
>> Anonymous
>>315485
Makelele faces similar problem like Robinho, that's why Madrid offload him, while Cech is still a decent player at that time before Mourinho arrive. Drogba IS an ambitious signing as well as Essien, both are already world class players at that time and linked with dozen of big clubs and guess what talk the most? $$$
>> Anonymous
Ruud van nistelrooy will not be back. He's a united favorite still and he's wanted at madrid. Why leave a great club for the little brother of manchester?

Barca will make sure Messi doesn't go.Messi will not want to go as well.leaving barca for man city is not that appealing

Fabregas will not go since arsenal and fabregas do not want to leave each other.Let's face it,Madrid or barca fabregas will consider but city?nah

Cristiano Ronaldo?Besides being a villain,I doubt he looks at city as appealing as he looked at madrid.Yes,money talks but even ronaldo is not stupid enough to leave for the neighbors.Madrid has history and are still successful while city has done jack shit.

The rest have a decent chance of going to city but the cream of the crop will not be released by their clubs nor will the players want to move to city.
>> Anonymous
>>315497
Ruud was forced out from the team by Fergie, he might just return and knock in a few goals for the lulz against United.

Kaka is possible too as Milan is in financial trouble.

They're not gonna attract god tier players like Messi and Ronaldo until they start winning things.

Till then they'll have to settle for top players coming towards the end of their career (Van Nistelrooy) and players with massive, as yet unfulfilled, potential (Robinho)

All this talk of attacking players but no mention of the likes of Buffon and Cannavaro makes this just seem like a wish list a 12 year old would draw up.

Richards just suffers from being English. He has potential to be one of the greatest defenders in the world... But England won't allow time to let it blossom... and if he isn't the defensive God by time he's 21 people will be claiming he's a massive flop (see the attacking versions one Rooney, and two Walcott)
>> Anonymous
There are at least 5 20 year old defenders with more potential than Richards, and more who are about equal in terms of potential to him.
>> Anonymous
Messi for ?80m? Lol wut? Supposing Messi would be prepared to leave, and Barca prepared to sell, the price would be much, much higher. They're not going to sell the best player in the world for that amount, when they know that City's sandnigger is prepared to pay any amount of money for god tier players.
>> Anonymous
The only big name I see them seriously having a shot at is Kaka. Milan told Chelsea it'd be 70 (or was it 80) million euros and they'd consider, and those towelheads would be crazy enough to do it.

Messi is so far ahead of C.Ronaldo it's almost laughable to mention them both in the same sentence. Seriously, have you not seen him play?
>> Anonymous
>>315739
Believe me, Ronaldo won't win it. He may win awards voted by fans, but he'll never win a serious award if he continues to fail in every single big match(the complete opposite of Messi, who plays his best games in the biggest mathces).
The most likely candidates right now, are Messi, Xavi, Casillas and Torres...but is still a long way to December, so who knows. But Ronaldo is absent till October, and if Messi performs like people expect him to, than he's the most likely candidate.

Messi needs to play a whole season uninjured before he gets it, but yeah other than that he is ahead of Ronaldo.

If you hadn't have said that.. You might have had a point. Curial goals against Arsenal, Sporting, Chelsea (in the Champions League Final) to name but a few. I'll concede he did have a stinker in the Euros, and Messi was great in the Olympics.. But where was Messi Vs United, Messi Vs Real last season? Swings and roundabouts.

Main thing Ronaldo has against him is not his skill, but his personality and his club. A love to hate person, at a love to hate club.
>> Anonymous
>>315757
Messi was one of the best players in the United game. At least acording to most of the world, except United fans, who said the game would be where it would be decided who the better player is, only to change their mind when Ronaldo was nowhere to be seen+missed penalty & Messi was pretty good for his first game after months of injury. Not brilliant, but still better than Ronaldo and most of the other players.
>> Anonymous
>>315757

Messi played well against ManU last season - in the away game anyway (Old Trafford) - I don't think he played in the home game but I could be mistaken - the rest of the team didn't perform unfortunately. He's been one of the few players at Barça that has looked like he gives a shit over the last 18 months when the team has performed so badly. He can't carry Barça in every match but he has on many occasions.

I'm not saying Messi is shit, why the fuck would I do that he's one of the top players in the world, who almost anybody including me would want in their side. All I was doing was comparing big games where he didn't make an impact.

Of course we still have the CL group stages to go through, and the next 3 months in the domestic leagues. Which could have a big impact if Ronaldo doesn't come back half as strong as he was.

imo I think Ronaldo has done enough to get the vote. He got PFA, and UEFA player for last season. But who knows, last year Ronaldo was second, Messi third in the Ballon D'or, but in FIFA world player of the year it was the other way round. I think the fact Ronaldo won UEFA footballer of the year might do it for him as well.

>> Anonymous
Most, if not all players in the Spanish league have a buy out clause in their contract so Man City could bid for Messi and if the price is high enough the only obstacle would be whether the player himself wants to leave.

Doesn't look like Messi ever wants to leave Barca though. They'd have better luck with Eto'o who's always throwing a strop.
>> Anonymous
>>315800
My moneys on Ronaldo. Then Messi... Third spot I'm not so sure on this year.

I was 5 when he retired but wasn't Van Basten supposed to injury prone.. And from all the videos I've see there is no way you can deny his class.
>> Anonymous
>>315802
Eto'o wants to stay at Barca as much as Messi. He always said so, and that's why he wanted 15m€/year from any club willing to buy him, knowing full well no one would do that.

>> Anonymous
>>316308
Alves and Lahm can't/won't actually defend, so if you're going to pick 8 attackers - your 2 centre backs would need to be really fucking good. I agree with Vidic, not Ferdinand though.

Also, Ibra vanishes from games too much and doesn't perform for the biggest matches. Villa and Aguero would be my picks. Oh and I woudl prefer Ribery to Ronaldo - he's a better team player and supplier of the ball.
