Go Pens! Anonymous
Hi /sp/! I'm on my way to the Stanley Cup now.

Amazing ballsy trade by Shero.

The Pens are going to have 2 AMAZING scoring lines.

They also got a huge blue-line presence with Hal Gill.

I'm excited.

The West doesnt think so

At least something exciting happened by the deadline.

The Pens best make it past the first round this year.
>> Anonymous
Hal Gill is a fucking pylon, he brings nothing.
>> Anonymous
Hossa will be another player that wont get to shine because hes on a team with crosby, look at how well malkin and those guys are doing without him
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>17712

He has been in the league 3 fucking years.

He is not even old enough to buy a beer.

Trolls are shit in /sp/.
>> Anonymous
>>17725

Agreed. Crosby brings out the best in most guys he plays with. Armstrong and Malone struggled when not paired up with the Wizard, until Malkin came into his own.

A Crosby-Hossa-Staal line followed by a Malkin-Sykora-Malone line has to be the top one-two punch in the NHL, and still gives Malkin the freedom he has now.
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>17708

The Pens needed a defensive defensemen.

I know that Gill is SLOOOOW but we need a large presence on the PK badly.
>> Anonymous
so far Hossa hasnt performed in the playoffs, hes gonna have to prove otherwise
>> Anonymous
Here is the ultimate result of this trade:

Pens shit themselves in the first round, Hossa walks in July, and the team is left with fuckall in the end.
>> Anonymous
>>17762

Here is the ultimate result of this trade. Pens go far in the playoffs, maybe even to the finals. Hossa walks in July. They end up right back where they were before this deal, sans Colby Armstrong.

They're really gonna miss Armstrongs 10 goals a year and Christensens 75% Shootout rate. Jackass.
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>17762

The pens have the 2nd smallest payroll in the entire NHL, the cap is going up and they are building a new arena.

You might want to rethink your entire post.
>> Anonymous
>>17787

Eh, They're gonna have to pay Malkin after this year as well. Hossa is making $6m right now, and is gonna expect a Crosby-esque contract, as is Malkin. Thats alot to shell out in one offseason.

I'd love to see them lock him up long term, but I just don't see it being realistic.

The Prns got Gill?
And you guys are...happy?
What the fuck is wrong with you? He sucks!
Also, Cindy Criesby is overrated and should be traded for a number one goalie/defenseman
>> Anonymous
>>17806
Yeah ok

Just forget that he's generating a lot of money for the Pens as well as scoring
>> Anonymous
Hossa is gone from the Pens after this year. There's no reason to keep him, there was really no reason to even get him. They gave away too much for a few months of him.

When Atlanta got him a few years ago, everyone was all pumped about how the Thrashers would finally make an impact in the standings and how they'd go in the playoffs. That didn't work out, if he was so great then why is Atlanta dealing instead of building for a playoff run?

This shit is going to bite the Pens in the ass. You got rid of two young players, well liked by the fans, and bought yourself a whore. If they don't win it all then it's a failure, and I don't think that Hossa is the missing key to the Pens getting a Stanley Cup.
>> Anonymous
>>17806

The GM that trades Crosby is the GM that should never get the chance to ever work in the league again.

Crosby turns average players into goal scorers and that's what you need on a team.
>> Anonymous
As a Vancouver fan I'm slightly disappointed that we didn't get Richards. There was a deal on the table but in the end Dallas one upped it.

If anything makes me happy though it's that we finally got rid of Cooke. I've been waiting to see him go for a couple years and finally it's happened.
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>17889

>Hossa is gone from the Pens after this year. There's no reason to keep him, there was really no reason to even get him. They gave away too much for a few months of him.

Wrong. They need a legitimate scoring winger for Crosby. They have the cap room for all 3. The deal was a steal.

>When Atlanta got him a few years ago, everyone was all pumped about how the Thrashers would finally make an impact in the standings and how they'd go in the playoffs. That didn't work out, if he was so great then why is Atlanta dealing instead of building for a playoff run?

Non sequitur. These are 2 completely different teams. Atlanta didn't have anywhere close to the talent that Pittsburgh does. He is a 100 point scoring winger who is very durable. He doesn't miss games.

>This shit is going to bite the Pens in the ass. You got rid of two young players, well liked by the fans, and bought yourself a whore. If they don't win it all then it's a failure, and I don't think that Hossa is the missing key to the Pens getting a Stanley Cup.

The pens gave up NOTHING. 2 players barely on the 3rd line. Armstrong had about 20 points for fucks sake.
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>18020

>They have the cap room for all 3. The deal was a steal.

Oops, I meant to say that they have the cap room for Hossa, Malkin and Crosby.
>> Anonymous
>>18026

You do realize that 3 players do not = a hockey team right? Malkin will be getting a huge raise, Hossa will demand big big bucks so how are the pens going to fill the rest of the team with no money to spend?
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>18036

>fill the rest of the team with no money to spend?

Where are you getting this?

They are already well under the cap right now. This is nothing like the situation in Tampa.

Pens are still questionable in net...MAF is terrible this season, but Conklin/Sabourin are playing well..
>> Anonymous
lolpens...

JERSEY!
>> CapitalistBastard !!f/pELCnjRD0
>>18054

>Pens are still questionable in net

Yeah, Conklin only made 51 saves in the win tonight.
>> Anonymous
>>18094
Agreed. He's 18-4-4. Fuck, you guys are dumb, he's playing with Vezina stats. But Hal Gill, I don't understand you can get a better player with the 2nd rounder you gave up.
>> Anonymous
KING CONKLIN

He destroyed New York tonight. He deserves the new nickname.
>> Anonymous
>>18215

50 saves and 8 penalties killed.

Amazing.
>> Anonymous
Didn't Conklin give up the puck behind the net with less than a minute left in the game and let Carrollina score the Game Winning Goal of a Stanley Cup Final game.

THIS GUY IS AWESOME!~
>> Anonymous
Hossa isn't going to fit in. While Crosby might be the quarterback, Malkin is the running back doing all the dirty work. Therrien is too much of a bitch to mess with his lines. He's not going to fit in, he's not going to make a difference, and he's not going to be signed.
>> Anonymous
LOL you wish. He'll disappear in the playoffs as you make another early exit and then bolt come July. And you gave up 4 players for 4 months worth of Hossa, enjoy!
>> Anonymous
>>18647

Therrien changes the lines like I change underwear, once a week. The problem early in the season was the Crosby is the Quarterback and Malkin is the Quarterback. Now that Malkin has a hard shooting winger and big guy on his line, he has shown what he has to offer.

God dammit people in /sp/ are fucking retarded.
>> Anonymous
>>18744

The Pens have he 25th largest payroll.

They can easily sign Malkin and Hossa.

Keep BAWWWWing flyerfags.

>>18647

>Therrien is too much of a bitch to mess with his lines.

LOL, thanks for the obvious troll.

>He's not going to fit in, he's not going to make a difference, and he's not going to be signed.

That's the new flyersfag mantra, if you keep chanting it and hope REALLY HARD maybe it will come true.

Here's hoping your team stops its freefall in the standings and gets in the playoffs as the number 8 seed. I'd love to see you faggots swept out in 4 straight.

Pittsburgh: HI DEFENSE WHY ARE YOU IN OTTAWA ANAHEIM NEW JERSEY DETROIT DALLAS SAN JOSE AND MONTREAL AND NOT US ;_________;
>> Anonymous
>>19106

Conklin only has a .933 save percentage and a 2.19GAA.

The PENS ARE DOOMED.

And that's why Edmonton won the cup in 2006, right?
>> Anonymous
>>19118

There is just a little bit more to defense than your goalie.
>> Anonymous
Hossa sure is gonna help you guys out a lot while hes injured after a 5-1 spanking by Boston.

At the end of the season, the Hossa trade will be regarded as one of the worst in the last few years.
