Don't worry about it. Chicago itself forgot about that after a month.

Actually, I do live in Chicago. The overwhelming majority of this town doesn't give a shit about anything south of the Loop. Sure, people talked about it - but they were either already fans, or the ones who jumped on the bandwagon once they actually made it to the World Series. Hell, the Sox were playing games in September at home with 10000 people in the stands.

It's nuts- if one of the fucking teams here had won one fucking championship I'd never forget it.

Hell, when the Eagles only won the NFCCG in '04 I obsessed continuously over the fact, repeating 'The Eagles.. are going to the superbowl..." like some sort of brain-addled idiot.

Ohhhh well excuse me, you latte-swilling hipster scum, but we don't all take afternoons to go to Cubs games, drink beer, ignore the game and call coworkers to talk about how hip we are, going to the Cubs game, supporting the shitty team because it's so damn trendy.

You want to be able to tell everyone how cool you are the next day, you want to waste all your money on shitty and overpriced beer, you want to hit on some chick who's been drunk since the second inning while she ignores your ass, you want to get a few buddies and jump anyone on the north side who's man enough to actually support a team that people care about and isn't a damn side show like the chicken piece of shit you are, you go to Wrigley. You want baseball, you head south.

>>380860

When I go to Cubs games, I'm there to actually watch the game. I fucking hate 90% of the fanbase for being those same faggots you described pretty well. I hate that Wrigley has become some hipster hotspot and actual fans can't get any fucking tickets.

And US Cellular is a fantastic park. I've been there a few times, and completely enjoyed it. Miller Park is also a great park, full of great baseball atmosphere. But Wrigley? God I hate going to Wrigley. I hate those fucking people.

You're in the good seven or eight percent of Cubsfags. The type of Cubsfag that when I sit next to you at Miller Park I can still talk to you about your team and have an intelligent conversation.

I have been to at least fifteen Cubs-Brewers games, and the above only happened once.

This may be a little off topic, but I was in SF after the all-star break when we played the Giants, and those Giants fans packed the park, cheered on Lincecum, followed the game, were very intelligent and mostly respectful, and just impressed the hell out of me. Kudos to the San Francisco Giants fan base for supporting such a shitty team with grace.

That, and the Cubs are continuing to shit themselves as soon as October rolls around.

Yeah, even us Marlins fans have trouble remembering it. We're still in the glory of the whole "FUCK YES WE BEAT THE YANKEES ON THEIR FIELD IN A MIRACLE SEASON"

'97 was a more predictable season; we had 5th highest payroll and we were on the brink of being awesome the previous season.

I must admit though, the '97 World Series was more exciting than the '03 series
