ITT We name current Baseball players who will probably go on to become Managers.

Jamie Moyer...

If not a GM, definitely a Pitching coach. He's like a second pitching coach for the Phillies already. Awesome guy btw.

Brad Ausmus. Baseball genius.

Pedro Martinez: performance wasn't good as a player with the Mets, but his presence in a clubhouse is overwhelmingly positive.

Every catcher.

I can see an older Mike Mussina as a pitching coach.

Trevor Hoffman should be a bullpen coach.
>>
Garret Anderson

he's already teaching young Angel hitters on a daily basis...although they could have used some additional help last night

Lol.

Jason Varitek.
Fuck you Boston haters.
Also, check the statistics. Great catchers almost always become managers of successful teams.

Jim Edmonds possibly. Maybe Isringhausen as a pitching coach for the Mets, just to keep their outstanding record in tact!

Maybe you're right, many of the greatest managers were crappy players, like Leyland, or Maddon.

>>375635

I know you're joking about calling Maddon and Leyland great managers.

not jason varitek. unless he teaches his players how to throw at the other team, or how to get out of doing things they don't want to do (like catch knuckleballers).

I'm actually a Cubs fan.

Leyland is one of the worst managers in the history of the game. You cant make the playoffs with that lineup and pitching rotation? Please.

Maddon has done nothing this year but benefit from a stockpile of young talent which is derived from the draft setup which allows for that sort of thing when your team finishes in last place in their division for 10 years.

Catchers make the best managers. Jason Kendall would make the best manager of all the catchers.

Kendall loves the game, he knows the game, he knows how to hit, he knows how to control pitchers, he's an everyday player, and he played in 150 games for the Brewers this year, more than 30 more than any other catcher. In fact the few days that he sat out you could see him on the bench anxious and antsy to get back in the game. How many players play EVERY SINGLE DAY, finally get their once a month day off and go completely crazy waiting on the sideline.
