What did /sp/ think of this? I thought it was pretty fucking lame. 2 short-ass matches. Then the ladies. Then two fights that ended too soon. As soon as I saw that the doctor was a female, I knew there'd be trouble. The only women that should be allowed in the ring are fighters and card girls.

That british dude's ear was disturbing.

What the fuck is this faggotry.

Nice photoshop on James Thompson's balloon ears.

The girls fight was fucking great.

So was the championship fight (anyone who booed that fight is a fucking tool) until it got stopped for stupid reasons. If the rules say a fighter gets 5 minutes to recuperate then give him 5 minutes dammit.

Baroni needs to fucking retire.

Kimbo showed exactly who he is. A guy with only three fights on his resume. I have no clue why so many think that he's legit.

Exactly what you think it is, faggotry.

The most disrespectful spectators I've ever seen at an MMA fight. The were booing even when the fighters were exchanging blows. Fucking tool is correct.

Wow.

I disapproved of the booing during the actual match.

I highly approved of the booing that came after the match was stopped for no reason.

here's where I'm confused.
Did anyone actually think the Kimbo could do anything other than brawl? Nobody really thinks he's legit, right?
obviously he can't do any jiu jitsu - he's a fucking homeless guy who's huge
Maybe I'm just too not retarded for my own good

Tonight's event was awful. Download UFC 84 to see what a legit MMA event looks like:

I agree with Kevin Iole on this. God, could CBS show any further they don't know what the fuck they're doing?

Kimbo Slice is a joke, Gina Carano is the real deal and I'm still banging my head wondering why this event is on network TV while the Pulver/Faber match tomorrow is on the fucking Versus network.

Dana White may be a shady man-child, but at least he knows how to promote and run events.

If you enjoyed the EliteXC fights, go there, ignore the shit that pops up and watch UFC 84. Other than the Machida fight (which is a great fight technically, but honestly dull visually), every other fight will make you cream your jeans. Keep some new boxers handy.

Or just watch Faber vs Pulver tonight on VS to see how a real mma event looks.

CBS blocked out two hours for this thing and then totally unnecessarily ran long with it.

The fact that they packed so much time for presentation and exposition in between the actual FIGHTING made the relatively brief fights look considerably more lame than was necessary. Had they not been playing it up so much it probably would have seemed like a pretty good night of fighting. Even so, I gotta think Les Moonves isn't too happy with the way it turned out: two one minute fights (seeing that showboating Long Island faggot get clocked immediately was satisfying, really), a lousy foul out "tie" ending to what was otherwise an exciting, evenly matched championship fight, and an inconclusive TKO in the main event which revealed in the process that Kimbo Slice has no ground game. The only really good, clean fight that wasn't over in a minute was the girls' and, frankly, I don't think that's what most people were coming to see. Also, a Street Fighter IV trailer.

I also thought it was funny that CBS filled all the city flyover footage with shots of (and references to) New York to distract your attention from the fact that the event was actually in NEWARK. Not New York. Newark. As in New Jersey.

Did anyone see how Kimbo managed to get out of that prolonged standing guillotine hold? It seems to me CBS cut to a rather confusing wide shot of the ring between the time he was last in the hold and the time he was free.
>> Anonymous
CBS and Elite XC are simply trying to cash in on hype. Everybody knows Kimbo is inexperienced and nothing more than a brawler. He got exposed.

Problem is that Network tv does not want to show a guy/girl get hurt so they stop fights too early. Dana white is a jackass sometimes but he was right to keep UFC on PPV.

I cant wait for EliteXC to go under.

The only reason I tuned in was for Gina.
