WGN and CSN report Chicago Blackhawks will host the Detroit Red Wings @ Wrigley Field on New Years Day 2009. Most likely reason is the NHL didn't want to pony the $200K for stadium upkeep for Yanker's Stadium.

An announcement could be as soon as Thursday. Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, and Stan Makita are already scheduled to sing the 7th Inning Stretch on Friday @ Wrigley

Fuck Yeah Original Six

Bostonfag here. I heard we were pushing for it because seriously Bruins/Canadiens at Fenway Park would be fucking amazing.

But this game looks kickass too I mean goddamn, Wrigley

LOL someone seems to forget the only team that dominated Detroit this year. Too bad the BLUES suck and couldn't help us out against Nashville.

Anyone w/ their head out of their ass knows the Hawks are no longer a joke.

IS there a source for this? I can't find anything about this on CSN

Blackhawks were the only team in the league that didn't fucking suck against the Wings

>Chicago > New York

There is no way in FUCK the last sporting event at Yankee Stadium would be hockey. Anyone who thinks otherwise is retarded.

WGN Radio first reported and CSN TV reported it shortly after

Habeeb it, I'm surprised it wound up being in Chicago, all signs were pointing to Yankee Stadium. Why they'd use a baseball stadium to begin with for hockey seems really stupid anyway, all the seating angles are going to be royally messed up. Should use a football stadium instead.

I was at buffalo. seating isn't going to be as good as an arena regardless of what type of stadium its in.

OH god I know, seems retarded to have a seat five million feet away from that tiny little rink, but at least the stands are parallel to the rink itself. With a baseball stadium all the seating is either in a large circular or at strange angles, it just dosen't seem like it fits well with the format of a hockey rink.

I guessing this is more for TV than anything else. This is an EVENT! Fans on TV want to see and EVENT! @ Wrigley Field in WINTER! All the TV Angles will be just fine.

As for the fans, Bettman knows it'll be full, because doofy fans(like me) want to be a part of it.

You gotta admit tho, Rooftop seating for a hockey game is pretty cool. This will most certainly be an EVENT.

they should put the pens in PNC park for a game, maybe fans would be able to see a hometown win in that stadium there for a change.
