Hey /sp/

What teams would you consider the BEST Teams to never win the Superbowl and the WORST Teams to win the Superbowl?

Worst teams to ever win the Superbowl:
2007 Giants
2001 Patriots
1983 Raiders or 2000 Ravens

Best Teams to never win the Superbowl:
2007 Patriots
1998 Vikings
2001 Rams

Statistically the best defense ever in the 16-game era (yes, better than the 85 Bears.) I HATE the Ravens, but troll harder please.

Idk, it is between the 72' Dolphins and 2007 Giants.

Both are so shitty, I can't pick.

18-1 is pretty hilarious guys, let's keep spamming it, it will never lose it's comedic value

The OP's biggest mistake was saying the 2000 Ravens sucked.

DE Rob Burnett
DT Sam Adams
DT Tony Siragusa
DE Mike McCrary
LB Peter Boulware
LB Ray Lewis
LB Jamie Sharper
CB Chris McAllister
CB Duane Starks
FS Rod Woodson
SS Kim Herring

The offense put up weak numbers, but only because they had no QB or wideouts. They still had Jamal Lewis, Priest Holmes, Sam Gash, Ben Coates, and Shannon Sharpe. Epic team was epic.

Four games with no offensive TDs. That is weak, but you can't call a team that gives up 10.3 points and 60.6 yards of rushing per game bad. By that logic, the 1999 Rams had a mediocre defense; you would never call them a bad team.

BTW, not a Ravens fan- I wish Ray Lewis would have gotten life in prison.

Obviously the '07 Giants are the worst team to ever win a super bowl as the next year they proceed to go 7-1 and lead their division (possibly the best division in all of football) halfway through the season. Such a bad team, surely it was a fluke. Congrats op, you've really hit it on the head.

They started 13-0, played amazing defense for once, and then were one-and-done against the Stillers.

Whats sad is that the worst team to ever win a superbowl, is the only undefeated one. They weren't even favored to win, and almost lost the superbowl at the end. The 72 Phins were a good team, but not a great one.

The 01 Rams and the 07 Pats were the best that didn't win. The Rams lost becuase the Pats broke Bruces Arm, and generally played so hard that rules needed to be rewritten and inforced so that you couldn't pull the shit that they did. They effectily played as Dirty as you could inside the rules, and beat a team that was a Juggernaut becuase of it.

The 07 Pats lost to someone Helmet catching a Ball, after the QB escaped the grasp of about 3 defensers. It took a damn near literal Miricle to stop them, but it happened, and they are going down as the only undefeated team to walk away without the title.

Giants are mostly intact from last year (actually the only position with a new starter is place kicker b/c tynes was injured, and outside backer), actually they managed to get better while losing several players who were key to their successes last year, replacing them with guys who were already on the roster (Osi/Stray - Tuck/Kiwi)... they were just better than their record last year. And one more little thing, are we completely discounting the Giants post season last year? Playing from a wildcard they had to face 3 teams before they could even get to the super bowl, and they crushed all of them... so yeah, again, probably a fluke that they won the last game.

The 2007 Giants were not one of the worst teams to win a superbowl....by your thinking the 1988 49ers should be too. How are the same exact offense from SB XLII and a "weaker" defense doing right the fuck now?

I totally agree with the 2007 Patriots though

This thread is now about the 2nd half of the Giants schedule.

I think they can keep afloat at around 500 for the next 8 games, come out 11-5ish. If they do better than that I wouldn't be all that surprised, but it's a brutal gauntlet they are going into. Philly is better than their record, the Skins had an off game against the Steelers but I think they are still a contender for the division and the Cowboys... well, that's tough to call. Will they bounce back when Romo comes back after their bye? They are still really talented, so I think they can still be a threat down the stretch, maybe not for the division, but going into Dallas, playing a Sunday night game midway through December, the Cowboys could be playing for a wildcard spot so they will be desperate. The non division games are also challenging, the Ravens, THAT.BIRD., Panthers and the Vikings... god I don't even want to think about the Vikings, not after last season's game against them.
