Amerifags who don't understand real sports and real rivalry
>> Anonymous
>>171107
Diff Amerifag who admits they don't understand.
Let's take Blackburn Rovers for example - Main kit blue and white, second kit back and red. (And that leaves a third kit out of the equation totally.) Makes no sense to an American - here you have two to three(max) colors for your team and you stick to them in every kit you make.
/r/ explanation plox.
>> Anonymous
I thought their 3rd kit was black, resembling Man U's away kit.

"No true Scotsman" fallacy. Google it.

One reason Blackburn has to use more colors is because if you have a half blue / half white, you can't use it against teams with white or blue shirts.

>>171114
To take another example Internazional, classic colours blue and black, their away kit is white with a redcross (like the england flag) because that's the flag of Milano.

because in american sports there are standardized colors for home and away. in baseball, the home team is always in white, and the away team is always in gray (normally). in soccer, there are no such rules or standards. the home team gets to choose what they want to wear (usually their traditional patterns), and the away team has to wear something that is distinct from that.

let's take your example, the rovers. they are playing at home, and everton is in town. the rovers get first choice, so they choose their blue-and-white halves kit. everton, whose away jersey is solid white, cannot wear them, because they are too similar. they also can't wear their home jersey, because it is solid blue, and would still be too similar. so they have to break out their third jerseys for the match (very dark blue).

the same goes for if blackburn was playing at manchester united, they couldn't wear their away jerseys (black and red halves) because they are too similar to united's solid red shirts. and since blackburn doesn't have a third jersey, they are forced to play in their home jerseys.

Isn't it just pathetic that they slap advertising right across the front of the jersey like that? Do the owners have no respect for the jersey?

Because Everton supporters have some common sense.

American sports have ads flashed every minutes, Footie has sponsors on the kit, never bothered me that much.
>> ?
>>171197

Its funny, thats one of the only 'soccer' things i hate.
>> Anonymous
>>171054
No. Tottenham did that for our third kit the other year and look what happened to us!
I'm very glad that there's only one (at most) team that also uses white as their home colour.

>>171197
2nd'd. If I could have gotten my shirt without the ad splashed on it I would have.

Cause everton has heart

faggot

Okay. So Rovers are an extreme example due to the split nature of their shirts. But why not a really dark solid blue instead of red/black?
And, to contribute to OP's post, why would Liverpool go blue? Makes no sense. Why not use really dark or really light shades of your teams colors instead of pulling a different color out of your ass?
Or am I just to Amerifag to understand sticking to your team colors ain't easy?

>>171233
It's done for contrast to insure no confusion among the players. The home team always wears their home colours, the visiting team has to wear something different. It's also due to the fact that, with relegation and promotion between the divisions, new teams come in that may have the same home and away colours as another team.

Another classic example involving my own fave team: Last year Tottenham Hotspur played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea's home ground). Chelsea's home colour is dark blue. Normally, Tottenham's away colour is sky blue, but because Chelsea was wearing their home colour, Tottenham also wore their home colour (white) even when playing away.

Oh boo-hoo. Tottenham fans got all bent out of shape when their shirt sponsor put a red logo on the front of their shirts.... because red was the colour of Arsenal!
Get over it... they're still Liverpool.
>> ?
>>171269

As a Chelsea fan, if they ever haad a red strip i'd probably rant about it on the radio or something.
>> Anonymous
As a Celtic fan I can feel your pain in having to deal with a blue kit. If Celtic released a blue kit half of Glasgow would go fucking radio rental...

Doesnt the fact that both clubs have Carling as main sponsor bother you ? And seems like they have the same main sponor alot Ntl: etc

I would more have liked Liverpool to use a black third kit as last year, though Green and yellow is better than blue
>> Anonymous
>>171197
Rather that then commercial breaks every 5 minutes.
And it's never bothered me as many shirts look good with them. Carlsberg for Liverpool is kinda iconic now a days and Candy before that... the AIG for Man U looks good imo etc.
>> Anonymous
>>171233Or am I just to Amerifag to understand sticking to your team colors ain't easy?

Because the vast majority of teams in English soccer have either red, blue, or white as their main color, and there are no standardized rules for home or away designs (like there are in American sports). If a team decided that their colors would be pink and green, they wouldn't even have to have an away jersey because they'd never run into a situation where they wouldn't contrast with another team's colors.

As a Rangers fan i also agree that we would probably do the same.

At least we agree on something eigh?!

>>171334

Got it.

Spelling challenged Amerifag appreciates /sp/ explaining to my sorry ass without sarcasm.
>> ?
>>171316

Yeah it bothers me that its used for blatent advertising and the carling bit on the rangers shirts is kinda itchy when you first buy it.

But carling is a fucking awesome beer, i just hate advertisement on principle.

Liverpool traditionally wore a Blue colour before they picked up the Red Kit as we know by today!.

This kit makes sense, its not bad really...
>> ?
>>171348

I honestly did not know that, i thought it was only reds, whites or greens.
>> Anonymous
>>171343

lol yeh I can imagine the reaction if rangers new away kit is green and white hoops! Half the southside would be ablaze....

As for the sponsor thing , nah not to bothered , clubs gotta do what a clubs gotta do etc , although it IS itchy as fuck , normally run my top through the wash a few times..
