Ok, so we all have a dream scenario of two teams we want in the World Series, but my question is who is your nightmare set up, as in two teams you just couldn't stand being in and hope both somehow lose.

Mine?

Cubs-Red Sox sounds about right. The two most self-absorbed, arrogant, whiny, childish fan bases in baseball.

Tired of this Chicago bickering bullshit. And the last thing we need is more Ozzie bullshit and footage of Chicago people in general.. Fucking Chicago. LONG overdue for another fire.

Tampa Bay and The Marlins.

There are teams I dislike a lot more, but I can't think of two more boring boring teams to face off in the world series.
>> Anonymous
>>176908
You didn't watch the world series last year, did you?
>> Anonymous
>>176912
that's not necessarily because the teams were boring teams though. it was just completely one sided which is never fun

The Red Sox are actually a pretty exciting team. They're just hated because their fans are douches.

Meth is more of a southern Missouri thing. Still, there are plenty of other reasons to dislike the Cards.

honestly, it doesnt even matter. baseball sucks to watch if you aren't a fan of one of the teams. therefore any series without <insert team you're a fan of> sucks
>> Feraligatr !VJOf9vVc0E
>>176977
I disagree whole-heartedly. Some of my favorite playoff series came from teams I couldn't give two shits about. Sadly for World Series matchups it seems there is always at least one team I root against. The White Sox/Astros and Cards/Red Sox ones were maddening because I didn't like either team one iota.
>> Anonymous
>>176948

the red sox bragging about their success with home-grown talent is a FUCKING JOKE.

manny ramirez, david ortiz, mike lowell, josh beckett, coco crisp, JD drew, dice-k--guys like that are why the red sox are where they are in terms of popularity and success, not because of fucking ellsbury.

even if the red sox DO have respectablle home-grown talent, they will think nothing of giving them up for proven stars like when they tried to get johan, or when they try for sabathia.

If you have good homegrown talent, why wouldn't you give it up for a proven star?

I could have rambled off more, but I didn't feel like listing fringe major leaguers like you did.

And yes, I realize some of those guys - like Youkilis - are quite good.
>> Anonymous
>>176989
naming people like lowell and beckett is just stupid. we traded homegrown talent (VERY GOOD homegrown talent) for them. I fail to see how that makes the red sox evil or whatever.
>> Anonymous
ITT: BAWWWWWW my team sucks so I have to hate on successful teams. BAWWWWWWWWWW
>> Anonymous
>>177008

the only two fringe players i listed are masterson and hansen, and it looks like hansen is becoming a regular in the bullpen.
>> Anonymous
>>177014

Hansen isn't that great...

Masterson is, though.
>> Anonymous
>>177008
Fringe major leaguers?

Youkilis - Probably the best defensive first baseman in all of MLB, and not bad with the bat.

Pedroia - Good, solid second baseman. His height takes away the ability to get to some balls, but he tries to get to everything hit to the right side of the infield. In a slump right now, but a good hitter.

Masterson - Filled in pretty well this season. Would be a solid 3rd or 4th starter on pretty much any team with a full season under his belt.

Papelbon - One of the most dominant closers in the game.

Lester - A solid 4th or 5th starter. With better control, might even be a number 2 starter. Showed great poise in his World Series appearance and is getting stronger after beating cancer.

Hansen - Had maturity issues and also suffered from severe sleep apnea. Struggles a bit some times, but he is a young reliever and it's to be expected.

Delcarmen - A fucking enigma. Pitched out of his mind last year, and this year has had his share of trouble. Still, there are plenty of other MLB relievers that are doing worse.

Buchholz - Has the curveball and fastball to be a top of the rotation starter, but needs to get better with his changeup and maybe develop a 4th pitch, maybe a splitter or sinker.

Enjoy your 101 years of futility after you lose again this year.

do you guys remember back around 2002 league officials tried to have 2 baseball teams contracted (i think it was the expos and the twins)? what are the chances they could bring this case back up and destroy the cubs and the red sox instead?

both teams are clearly a cancer on baseball that must be destroyed
>> Anonymous
>>177022

also delcarmen has been pretty solid for the past month or so. just bring up daniel bard and DFA that piece of shit Timlin
>> Anonymous
>>177025
I'm pretty sure that two of the oldest teams in the most historic ballparks that draw an asston of fans and make the league a bunch of money are NOT the cancer in baseball. Want to see cancer? Look at the Nationals, Royals, and Pirates.

Agreed. Timlin has given a ton to the teams he played for. But unfortunatly, he's old and his arm is done. All those seasons of 60, 70, 80 (2005 with BOS made 81 fucking appearances. That means he was in a game almost every other day) appearances took their toll
