fuck off international rules Anonymous
Why does Australia have to VS the Irish in a Modified Aussie Rules match? Theres other countries who are actually capable of playing AUSSIE RULES FOOTBALL.
Why bother anyway? International rules doesnt seem that international anyway. Its always Australia VS Ireland. Lets see some fresh teams and match ups!
with the Australian Rules of Football!

Why am I reminded of the Harem Globetrotters?

Aussie football and Gaelic football are similar sports so they play each other (Ireland & Australia) for fun. I hope you're not a troll.

I ain't trolling!
But does that mean Cricket and Baseball could find a medium to play a form of 'international bat and ball'?

Instead of international matches, have interclub matches. Best from each country duke it out for a new prize.

Rules is played throughout SE Asia in addition to North America. European takeup is minimal but the Dutch seem to like it.

They could sure. Maybe have one wicket that the pitcher throws to, and instead of running up and down the wickets, run around three other bases. And have the pitch AND bat situation occur in the middle of the field and not just at the end like in Baseball. I'd actually watch it, even though I don't like bat and ball sports that much.

AFL is trying to bring in new teams and wants more attention. Why doesn't it push more global?

Hard to do in the sports market. It's not like you're a natural gas retailer and your only problem is infrastructure bottlenecks.

I'm optimistic for australian footy, because ultimately sports rise or fall on their merits. The marketing, the special effects (cheerleaders), everything else: it's only a temporary con.

I'm an Aussie rules fan and have been all my life but in the last several years I have come to the realisation that football (soccer) is far superior.

I hate the way the AFL is run and how ridiculous some of the systems in place are.

I think there should be lower tiers so the shit teams get relegated and there should be more non-premiership competitions that actually mean something. And fuck tradition, the finals series bullshit, I hate it when teams that finished like 7th make the grand final.

Protip: thats never happened

Adelaide winning from 5th (I think) is the record lowest ladder finish for a grand final win.

It's in the spirit of football to trade rules. When American football started Harvard played McGill from Montreal. Montreal used hands and Harvard didn't. Harvard liked it so much they adopted it. Playing different varieties keeps people fresh and having more fun.

Is there even an International rules series this year? There wasn't last year.

Also OP doesn't seem to get that International rules isn't going to TAKE OVER from Aussie rules anytime soon. It's just a bit of fun to celebrate the shared heritage of the two sports.

Lighten up for fucks sake.

i'm irish and it'd be nice to play gaelic against other countries, but they'd be very fucking one sided matches without a doubt. what would be the point in that?

if you're that set on beating the usa aussie rules team by a thousand points every year go right ahead, but don't call it sport.

hey, nobody has badmouthed gaelic football

This isn't an Irish Joke. but you do have your own AFL League over there.

i hadn't noticed! what we have noticed however is the increasing numbers of gaelic players going to australia to play aussie rules. not great for us, but it's inevitable given the gaa's stance on professionalism.

to think that someone would want to head off across the world to play sport for money.........MADNESS!
