So Britfags: How does it feel to be hosting in 4 years? You're probably not awake now but you have a lot to live up to.

If the London segment we saw at the closing ceremony is any indication the 2012 Olympics are going to be shit.

It will be one of the most boring and nonhistorical olympics in the history of the olympics.
>> Anonymous
If they add tiddlywinks, they will have increased the number of sports in the Olympics by 2000%.

This is EXACTLY what it needs to be. Speaking as a brit, this is what we do best. Modest, unspectacular and safe.

If we try and take the chinese on with regards to opening ceremonies and the like, we'll just look pathetic. We need to go a different route.

Plus, who is going to remember the closing ceremony from Beijing? It'll be Phelps and Bolt that go in the history books.
>> Anonymous
If the British were smart they wouldn't do anything as costly as China did. China will be in debt for a LONG TIME.
>> Anonymous
Black Sabbath will perform all national anthems to be played during medal ceremonies.
>> Anonymous
To be fair though we don't really need to be waving our dicks about like the chinese did this year.

We just need the places to win medals.

We need decent venues, a cleaned up, working efficient transport system (Lol good luck), New sports arenas that actually have the seats filled, Open Areas with screens for the public to watch events from for those who couldn't get tickets. etc.

If our olympic logo is anything to go by, our opening ceremony will be a complete disaster.

Kinda off topic, but i think the olympics should add motersports.

I think the biggest problem will be in getting the transport network to not suck a ridiculous amount of cock. That month will just be one massive traffic jam, and the tube will inevitably fail.

What money on them scheduling massive engineering works for then?

Didn't China borrow like 500 million Euros from the EU?
>> Anonymous
>>>China will be in debt for a LONG TIME

China has a lot of money

even more money than MGS3 implied
>> Anonymous
The Chinese have massive reserves of USD. They can make the dollar fucking worthless. Well, more worthless than it already is. The only thing stopping them is that they need the US for trading as much as the US needs them. If China learns to break away and find other forms of trading, they can destroy the American economy.

All hail the new chink overlords.

Its also the exact reason why the IOC went with London in 2012. After taking a big risk by putting the Olympics in China this year, they wanted to make sure they had a nice, safe, follow up Olympics just in case the all the worst case scenarios happened in Beijing.

Fortunately for the IOC, the Beijing Olympics will be remember as a great success. But I do think that everyone involved in organizing the event is probably pretty relived that the 2012 games are expected to be relatively drama free.

Yeah, but at least Britfags will fail in their own country and the world will mock them about it just like every year int he past.

If they devalued it they'd just be hurting themselves. Why would they purposefully devalue their own assets? Shit makes no sense, captain.
>> Anonymous
they are also paying for our federal debt by buying bonds so they got us by the balls... but if they do anything stupid they would be hurting not only us but the global economy. we are one country but we produce as much wealth per annum (i lol'd) as your gay EU.

>>297163
Being fair though, we did exceed our own expectations for this Olympics. We were aiming for a reasonable eighth place and we were pleasantly surprised when we finished fourth.

Britain, here is how you can make the 2012 Olympics more awsome than the one in Bejing.

1) Pull in the British fleet to London.
2) Put athletes on said boats
3) Sail to sea, hold games there while engaging Russian/whatever vessels of choice.

As long as there is ship to ship combat and an Admiral yelling PIP PIP over the Brazilian beach volley team, I'll be happy.

>i wonder if the English Soccer team will show up..

yes, they get an automatic entry into the group stages

that's how fail teams get in

why do you think they want the world cup and euro?
>> Anonymous
>>296948English
A team GB will turn up if the Scots stop being butthurt. Team GB is likely to be England U21s + 3 which to my knowledge would mean Sturidge, Walcott, Amos, Baxter, and Sears who all look good. But no Ramsay in fear of compromising the separate FAs.

>>297859
We probably will, depends who we get in the 2nd place play offs. We'll then either fail at the group stages, or get to the quarters the red tops will declare we are going to win it, we'll be put into a frenzy for three day, then well get knocked out.
>> Anonymous

Whoops, missed that.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the GB football team win a bronze or silver medal in 2012. They won't get further than the last 16 in the World Cup, though.

The funny thing is, the britfags will probably fail teh schedule/go over budget with some of their projects and have to buy stuff/services cheaply from the chinese just like the greekfags did in Athens.

I thought it's tradition to play divided.

>>297866

lol, i agree this is what always happens. We have a quarter final quality team, and judging by last weeks performance I can see us struggling in the group stage against Croatia if Capello persists with fat frank. He never plays like he does for chelski at international level.

If there is a GB football team, it is unlikely there will be any scottish involvement, at any rate.

The Scottish FA is firmly against a GB team, as they feel it would weaken their independance, and would end in them having to compete as GB in every comepetition. You won't find many people who want that.
