Johnson fined for celebration after 66-yard touchdown run Sneak !!+y8MDiWrdyT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has been fined $10,000 for his celebration after a 66-yard touchdown run against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL said Thursday that Johnson was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct for banging on some drums in the Chiefs' pep band during Sunday's 34-10 victory. He was penalized 15 yards at the time.

"I am not happy about it," Johnson told reporters Thursday. "I knew I was going to get a fine, but I am totally upset about how much. I am going to appeal. There's no fun in this league. I was trying to have fun and they want to penalize us for having fun."

The No Fun League strikes again.

How about he follows the rules and quits being such a nigger?

Plus he makes assloads of money. $10,000 is like $1,000 to him.

Nashvillefag here.

5k was more than enough.

I know there's that "no props" thing, but the shit was already placed there by someone with the Chiefs.

NFL is so gay and butthurt over all the stupid niggers fucking everything up.

i'm with you bro, the nfl should be all about dancing nigras after a play. fucking racists they are. appeal that bro. word up my nigga

God forbid someone has a lot of energy and emotion after outrunning 11 other guys on a long TD

It's getting a little ridiculous now. Is this how the NFL is trying to make their money?

I know the no props things but the cheerleaders were already there.

Your argument is invalid. Just cause something is there doesn't mean you can fuck with it.

ridiculous. The best thing about football used to be the celebrations.
>> Anonymous
The best thing about football is the stories.

Following the rules is all well and good when those rules support, protect, and organize the players, franchises, and product.

The "no excessive celebrating" mandate is unnecessary and does nothing for the NFL. Of course, this is all meaningless as these players are paid ridiculous salaries. Neither the celebrations nor the fines really affect anyone; it's kind of silly.
>> Anonymous
I think after a TD, you should have 15 seconds to do whatever you want.

The one limitation is no props that aren't readily available on a football field.

The only thing it has done is give us something NFL related to talk about on Thursday when there is no game. Think about that for a second.

With the popularity of fantasy football, the NFL doesn't need this drama queen act to keep sportscaster's "talking" about the NFL during the week. This is Bettman-level idiocy.
>> Black ? Star !x8ngkAZjXE

You can't even spike the ball anymore. The rules are ridiculous.

Yet Bettman is still gainfully employed. Just saying man. I think the crackdown on celebrations is complete bullshit and faggotry, but I do see why they're doing it.

Yeah, you can only spike the ball after a touchdown. On first downs and big plays it's not allowed, simply because the refs are too lazy to go get the ball after it's been spiked.

Why are there fines after excessive celebrations? Plain and simple, it's to keep the roid monkeys from starting fights because the other team "dissed" them or some other shit excuse during a celebration.

The guy from the Jets was not flagged for the hit on Anquan Boldin. He was not suspended. He was fined 50K for a hit that was widely agreed as unavoidable and out of his control.

Hines Ward chose to "Light someone up" because he is a douche. He wasn't blocking anything, play was already past him. He had no reason to light the guy up. He did it for one reason

Hines Ward is a dick.

Ward's block was clean. Shoulder pads made contact simultaneously with his helmet, he didn't leave his feet, and his head was in front of the player, not behind. As football equipment has not progressed to the point where players can withdraw their heads inside their pads like a turtle, the helmet contact Ward made with Rivers is acceptable in an open field block.

It was textbook except that you teach players to make contact facemask-to-chest or facekmask-to-facemask instead of bracing your head into your shoulders like Ward did. It's much easier to crack a vertebrae or even miss the block completely when you don't keep your head free and high.

There is a point to what Hines Ward does. Besides the immediate effects of blocking someone chasing a play and shaking up/seriously injuring a player on the other team, open field blocks by the receivers like that slow pursuit and hence make contain responsibilities much tougher.

Rivers and other linebackers should have their "head on a swivel" when in outside pursuit to pick up crack blocks, which should cause them to run slower, giving the ball carrier a wider corner. If Rivers had been playing proper technique he never would have been that close to making the tackle in the first place. If he pursues slower and looks around and he never runs in Ward's block.

A good physical split end like Ward can really affect the speed of a defense; hence why you always see him making devastating cracks against "speed" defenses like the Ravens' hybrid 1-gap system and the Bengals' Tampa Two. I would bet the Steelers coaching staff puts that shit in the offensive game plan: "Ward, if you put some backers on their asses early, our off-tackle stuff will work a lot better."

one play in college?

He punched a guy several times out of bounds in a NFL game because he was blocked out of the play. If that isn't a dick move, I don't know what is.

In the relatively few times I've watched Polamalu play, I've seen both of these things happen.

Hines Ward hits hard because he played at UGA in the SEC where you learn to play real fucking football and hit hard. The fact that there are posts actually acknowledging his hit was clean and by the book and there was nothing wrong with it, yet calling him a "dick," is retarded.

Hines Ward and players like him are why the SEC is perennially one of the greatest, and often times the greatest, conferences in college football.

>>426651
It was a game against the 'Skins in 04. A Redskin (forget who) took him out of the play and Polamalu punched him out of bounds a few times out of frustration. The commentators acknowledged it briefly, but went on to say how "unlike him" the play was and it was never mentioned again.

im all for protecting players, and am a big fan of the veterans fund or whatever its called(giving money to veterans from early eras that cant pay their doctors bills from injuries they got while in the nfl), but it seems to me that the nfl is willing to prevent these injuried by penalizing players that give out big hits. i think they should instead invest some of thier profits in better equipment research and also better medicine/surgery. but this of course would eat into the nfls profits and thats a BIG no-no, so instead they hand out fines to hits that would have been legal in years past
