You *might* be able to redeem yourself if your 'other' team is an Original Sixer whose name dosen't start with L and end in Eafs.

This is almost exactly what I did when I lived in England for a few years. I didn't follow football much if at all but I chose Newcastle because I liked the black and white stripes

Okay, you're an NHL fan outside the confines of North America. You chose to support the Bolts. All that matters now is that you keep supporting them through the highs and lows. Don't be a faggot and jump on another wagon just because the Bolts had a bad season. Every team has a bad season every now and then (some more than others).

Is it acceptable to support a team in the playoffs which is not "your" team, when "your" team is not in the playoffs?

For example: would it be okay for a bolts fan to support, say...San Jose or Dallas or whoever during the playoffs?

Tough call. Usually, yeah, that's acceptable. San Jose? Well, San Jose has been a strong season performer but have always fallen quickly in the playoffs.

Also, you have a lot of Sharksfags that ride the Cheechoo Train, so you'll have a point of reference to cheer for the Sharks.

BTW /sp/, is Cheechoo Train/"x? No problem." a meme?

I usually find that's alright. My team is the Wings so them not getting into the playoffs is a moot point, but I'll usually pick an Eastern team I'll follow/support up until a (potential) final against the Wings. This playoffs it's the Habs.
