EPL Title race Anonymous
Lets be realistic, /sp/, what are Liverpools title chances this season?

If you ask me, we have none. And yes, this is coming from a Liverpool fan. But I honestly think that we'll be more serious contenders than we were last year. Yes I believe we will finish 3rd. 2nd if we get lucky (and when haven't we been lucky this season).

We've already proven that we can win games without half our spine (Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano), sometimes less deservingly but we're certainly doing it. Next weeks match against Chelsea will pretty much set the tone for the rest of the season.

As for Man U, of course they'll get back up and it will probably be a two-horse race w/ Chelsea from there. Arsenal are just French faggots and will finish 4th (mark my words). Hull will finish mid-table but I really like Hull and I would LIKE them to finish higher, but it isn't likely.

Anyway, my final table prediction would be something like:

1 Chelsea
2 Man U
3 Liverpool
4 Arsenal
5 Man City

I'm a Liverpool fan, and I agree with you that next match against Chelsea will set the tone, if we manage a draw or as I see it, we have it in our own hands. I don't think Man U will have a chance this year, nor Arsenal. I hope for
1. Liverpool
2. Chelsea
But I fear
1. Chelsea
2. Liverpool
Not because we're poor, just Chelsea looks so damn good... If they won't field academy players in the league and fa cup, I honestly feel they have the potential for the quadruple

yeah its hard to say Chelsea won't get anything this year, they have (practically) a flawless squad. I still think Man U will get up to 2nd. It'll take them a while but they'll do it like tehy did last season

Liverpool can and will win the league until it is mathematically impossible to do so. BELIEVE.

Did you think Liverpool could not win the FA cup in 1989 after the horror of Hillsbrough?

Did you think after the shame of Heysel, Liverpool would never return to the CL, much less win it?

Did you think, as Carragher own-goaled in 2006, that the shame of the 2005 League Cup Final would be repeated?

Did you, as Arsenal clung on to their 1 goal lead in 2001, in your heart, know, just KNOW, Owen would perform magic that day in Cardiff?

Did you not will the Reds on in Barcelona, goal after goal after goal against Alaves, to come triumphant 5-4?

Perhaps, as tears of sadness and humiliation poured down your cheeks, you turned off the TV at half time in Istanbul, and crawled into a corner?

NO!

We are the Kopites! We support Liverpool through the wind and rain! Ours is the roar if YNWA at half time in Istanbul! Liverpool will win! Onwards red men! Let us give Liverpool the chance to be heroes!

BELIEVE!

Has any club ever won a cup and got relegated in the same season? If not, SPURS ARE MAKING HISTORY THIS YEAR!

spurs won the carling in 2007/2008.
we're playing the 2008/2009 season now.
i dont think they'll win the carling again.

We'll have to see. I won't count Man Utd out yet. People were counting them out last season when they started horribly. Liverpool might do better this season but they better have the endurance for it or fade away like arsenal did.

If we don't win the league, I will consider cutting down the points gap to 6-9 points to be an excellent achievement.

We had a 12 point gap last year.

I'd love it, just LOVE it, if we went 19-6 this year, but anything will do!

Fuck that, Spurs will win the UEFA Cup, Carling and FA cup then they will get relegated. It will be EPIC.

nah, i think Everton will get the treb... o wait

Man U aren't as strong this year. No way Crynaldo will be able to duplicate his success from last season, and Berbatov is a lazy bastard.

As stated Chelsea pretty much has the dream squad right now and they're guaranteed to get some sweet trophies this year, but I still have my fingers crossed for total fail (again).

Liverpool will be Liverpool. Yeah they have a chance but they'll be third at best.

And yeah, Arsenal at 4th

Substitute crynaldo with torres ...

fortunately we have dirk kuyt

Torres might not have the same season, but that as we saw last season, isnt the key, we need more than one goal scorer, Keane doesn't seem to fill that, but if the sleeping giant Kuijt is waking up, we might just make it

Find it funny everyone is ruling United out already despite them being in a better position than they were this time last year (same points, but they were knocked out of the Carling Cup). I still think Chelsea will win the league, I struggle to see where they might lose points, let alone games this season. That said I can't see them winning more than a domestic double. Liverpool are the strongest they been in years and years, but they still have a lot of holes mainly at the back, this will start to cost them after Christmas. Arsenal are a work in progress, they have been since 06/07 it'll be interesting how much longer the board will put up with this considering how many new dogs are on the block.

City aren't gonna finish 5th, defo top 8. Villa will probably finish 5th, Pompy and City will follow closely.

1 Man Utd
2 Chelsea
3 Liverpool
4 Arsenal
5 Man City
6 Hull City
7 Everton
8 Aston Villa

Yep, Man Utd are off to a slow start but they will pick it up and they should with the EPL this year. Although you are counting Hull City out, they will do well throughout the season but the larger clubs won't underestimate them again (e.g. vs Arsenal) and they will finish 5-10 as injuries will mess them up. Kinda the same with Chelsea in a way, they will do well throughout the whole season but I can see an injury coming up and a couple unlucky games.

holes in the back? Liverpool? under mr-super-defensive Benitez? with eight defenders to choose from?

1 Carrager
2 Dossena
3 Arbeloa
4 Skrtel
5 Agger
6 Degen
7 Hyypia
8 Insua

I wish Skrtel would recover so I can see the magical wonder of a Agger/Skrtel back line

Read it and weep shit tard. We already have half a squad injured.

Shit, we beat 'Boro with our reserve team.

You had to comeback from behind in 4 or 5 games already season. If that issue isn't dealt with, the wins, will turn into draw and maybe even loses as the season progress... And every game is vital nowadays.

Imploding Liverpool still wound up in the CL qualifying spot, and went to the CL semi finals*.. not bad for a club that was lolfag of the league all of last year.

* Chelsea fans of all people should know how difficult it is to get past the semis, going through only ONCE from three tries.

I'm not a chelski fan... assumptions are stupid.

I'm a scouser and I support teh everton <3

Everton fans would not understand the achievement of reaching the CL semi finals, seeing that they always fail to qualify!
>> Anonymous
>>421558

Be honest. The only reason you get that far in the CL is because you throw away every other competition on the way.

It's not a bad way to run the club, if your Pompey, and its the FA cup.
But for a "top 4" club, it's a bit sad.

At least Chelsea and Man Utd try to play all competitions to the end.

until it's impossible to win it, we have a chance, we always have a chance.

We were in with a shout up until February last year when the 9 point gap turned to 12.

We just have to keep getting shitty wins, 3 points is 3 points, and hopefully Arsenal exhausts itself and we close the gap with chelsea and man u .. maybe nick a point off them.

Its October. Till there's no hope, keep walking on...

>close the gap with chelsea and man u

Lern2payattention.

There is no gap. You are second only to goal difference. You are currently above Utd (even with Utd's game in hand.

If, and I mean IF, Rafa decided to actually go for the league instead of humping the CL, you would do well. probably 1/2/3.

On a side note - Winning the CL once every now and then does not make you a top European team. I'm sure most teams in the CL could win it if they decided to throw away every other cup/league they are in.

When I see how Chelsea began the season, Chelsea will win the EPL, no question, period.

I guess that the CL title will go to Real Madrid

Sneijder-van der Vaart-Robben

they'll choke vs man utd again and lose the title on the last match of the season vs some no-name relegation dogfight team... Man Utd to rub it into scouser noses having beaten their precious record at last.
