I'm a little new to the sport, and I've been trying to learn more about it and what goes on in terms of statistics but I can't find a good explanation for all the abbreviations, can anyone help me out? I'll give a few sample statistics and if anyone can list out what they mean I'd be grateful.

Celtic : GF: 81 GA: 26 Dif: 55

That's a team statistic page, I know the rest of the terms on the site, but just not those.

and now this is a player statistic page, for Adebayor from Arsenal taken from BBC Sport.

Adebayor: LG: 24 FA: 2 LC: 1 EU: 3 OTH: 0 TOT: 30

and now this is another Team statistic for Manchester Utd.

Manchester United : F: 47 A: 7 GD: 56
I left out the ones I already know on this one.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

GF: Goals for (Goals scored)
GA: Goals Against (Goals Conceded)
Dif: Goal differential GF - GA

Adebayor: Players name
LG: League Goals (Goals scored in league play)
FA: FA Cup Goals (Goals scored in the FA Cup competition)
LC: League Cup Goals
EU: Goals scored in European Competition (Champions Leauge)
OTH: Other goals
TOT: Total number of goals scored

GF : Goals For (scored).
GA : Goals Against (conceded). In older leagues, sometimes Goal Average (ratio of goals scored to goals conceded)
Dif : (Goal) Difference (scored minus conceded)
LG : League Goals
FA : FA Cup (Goals)
LC : League Cup (Goals)
EU : European (Club) Cup Competitions (Goals)
OTH : Other competitions (Intercontinental Cup, Charity Shield... Only official games though, not friendlies)
F : For (as in Goals For)
A : Against (as in Goals Against)
GD : Goal Difference

Usually, the order of elements displayed in europe is pretty much the same everywhere :

Position - Name - Games Played - Wins - Draws - Losses - Goals Scored - Goals Conceded - Goal Difference - Points.
The only changes are to put points first, before the name, after the name or after the games played. But that's about it.

Pleased to help you, though.

That's because that's their home record in the league this season.

im not saying it is so, but in the case of

Adebayor: LG: 24 FA: 2 LC: 1 EU: 3 OTH: 0 TOT: 30

it could also mean the anount of games hes played during a season, like the nhl stats.

League games: 24
FA Cup games: 2
League Cup games: 1
European Cup Games:3

but the other guy prolly had right about this being his goals during the season...

yay for gunners...

I do believe that Adebayor played more than 3 European Cup Games, and that he scored 24 goals in the league this season...

But the comment is right, it could have been the games played.

However, it's relatively rare to list the number of games played, whilst listing the number of goals scored is far more common. So by rule of thumb when I see that line, I expect it to be goals, not games. Unless it's said that it's games, of course.

GTFO Yidfag.
No one has insulted you Lily White Cunts...until now.

You have to nick our tribute song, but we Gooners just need to say that you haven't won the league since who knows when. Fuck you.
