It's unexpected, but I think I'll miss the Seattle SuperSonics. I didn't really care about the Sonics, but the Oklahoma City Thunder? That's just faggy. I'm going to miss being mildly entertained by the Sonics failures or watching them during the lottery.

Also, how come all replacement teams are lame? Of course the first thing that comes to mind is how much cooler the Houston Oilers are than the Tennessee Titans. But seriously, Thunder? And look at their colors, how... default.

Interesting tidbit on Clay Bennett, Oklahoma City, and the New Olreans Hornets:
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-35-97/Oklahoma-City-s-Play-for-the-Hornets.html
Apparently, Bennett made a play for the Hornets. In contrast to the NFL and the Saints, the commissioner even pressed the owner of the Hornets to sell the team in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

I will always call them the Sonics. The new name is a WNBA name.

No shit. Generic name, generic logo, shitty location (who lives in Oklahoma anyway?).

At least the Sonics were fun and quirky, even if they sucked. They made you actually like them even when they were bad.

I'm going to go to one of the games wearing a Sonics jersey.

I'm hoping a large group of Sonicsfags travel to OKC and bitch out.

It's funny; they insist on holding onto the history (no Cleveland-Baltimore situation here) and will hang Sonics related stuff in their shitty arena, but I bet they will confiscate pro-Sonics paraphernalia.

The team agreed to release the SuperSonics' name, logo, and colors to a possible future NBA club in Seattle, but retained rights to its franchise history. The records, awards, and accomplishments of the pre-2008 SuperSonics will be "shared" between Oklahoma City and any future Seattle team.[3] Months earlier, the NBA board of owners had approved the move to Oklahoma City.[4]

guess who's NOT a new franchise afterall

You know how in sports movies the lovable band of scrappy players always triumph over the evil owner, who has been bent on moving the team away for his own selfish, money-grubbing purposes?

ITT, that guy wins.
