"The National League needs to join the 21st century" Anonymous
"My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st century," Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. "They need to grow up and join the 21st century.

"Am I [mad] about it? Yes," Steinbrenner added. "I've got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He's going to be out. I don't like that, and it's about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s."

O gee, what do you have here, Steinbrenner is running his mouth again. I'm shocked, shocked to the core. But you know what? As flawed as his argument is, at least his heart is in the right place. At least he's looking out for the health of his players. You know what really pisses me off? Do you? I'll tell you.

Tell us!
Is it that he's arrogant enough to think that his players shouldn't have to play baseball the way it was meant to be played? Because I'm pretty sure Pitcher is a position on the field and they should have to do everything everyone else does.

What really pisses me off is all the idiotic AL fanboys who try to justify the DH rule by saying that it "makes baseball a better product for the viewers." WTF. They have no regard for the integrity of the sport, they just want to warp baseball into something that they think will be more entertaining. Well fuck you guys. Things like pro wrestling and American Gladiators exist to fill the "sports entertainment niche." Keep your grubby hands away from MY baseball. Stop trying real sports into the WWE.

copy/pasted my comment from the earlier thread on this:

"take the fucking dh out of the game. it's not baseball, it's an excuse for extending careers of washed up players. So your afraid that your pitcher is going to get hurt? well guess what, the NL has to "worry" about that almost every single game. Stop hating on a league that has rules that you are too pussy to play with.

/rant"

Hank is a chip off the ole' block

why is there another thread on this?

sometimes you fucking people are as retarded as steinbrenner's son (who was the one that made the comment, not the father as you pictured)

how can you type and be so fucking stupid?

also dh was started in 1972

>also dh was started in 1972

WTF does this have to do with anything?

20th century.

A sport with a bunch of juiced up spics bred in 3rd world countries for no other purpose but to play American baseball is filled with integrity?

All the minor leagues and colleges don't make the pitchers bat, Wang probably hasn't ran a base since high school

Just watch the fucking game and stop bitching about what some old dude said, he only said it to get attention and you guys are feeding it
>> Anonymous
>>165296

He didn't even say it to get attention, a reporter asked him a question and he gave his honest opinion, ESPN then blew it up to get more ratings and you are falling to their plan

That's nice, I see you don't actually give a shit about the SPORT of baseball. I bet you are another WWE fan too aren't you? Guess what, BASEBALL ISN'T WRESTLING! Keep your cheap shit made just to appeal to the ratings out of baseball and let us have our damn sport back.

Stop fooling yourself, it is just a game, every rule was made to make the game more exciting, why are runners allowed to steal bases, and why does hitting the ball out of the park mean everyone scores.

Plus the DH rule adds more strategy to the game.

Wang probably ran the bases last year.

So why don't we just go all out then? Why start pushing the rivalries between the teams more. Mix it up by having age old rivals become friends all of a sudden for no logical reason. Start airing promos of the coaches and players talking shit about the other team before the game. Hell, we could start a Diva's leage too, that would be great.

Why not get rid of the DH altogether and make it the Designated Celebrity? The pitcher's place in the lineup would be taken by a random celebrity whose identity would be known only by league management until he came up to bat.

Let's get rid of the playoff system too. A team has to earn a right for a title shot against the World Champion Red Sox. But it's not as easy as just winning a tournament. In order to be crowned the #1 contender, a team must beat two other teams in a handicap match to earn the right to play the champs.

We could do all those things, Billy Martin used to talk a lot of shit. The Steinbrenners still do. Most managers are pretty old and boring though, it wouldn't be very entertaining.

Most celebrities probably couldn't hit as well as the pitchers, a lot of baseball players are huge celebrities anyway. And Billy Crystal and Garth Brooks got one day contracts

More exciting than a gauntlet of two on one handicap matches? Are you crazy? Will the underdogs manage to "overcome the odds" yet again? Tune in next week to find out!

BTW you seem to know a lot about the WWE for someone who hates it so much

Watch NCAA baseball if you want pure baseball, a league where the players get paid isn't pure to begin with
>> Anonymous
>>165376

Yes, way more teams are involved in the playoffs, thus more people will watch it.

the DH should be handicapped in some way

the yankees need to join the 21st century and win more in postseason. even if they overspend on "talent", The Dbacks may have wrecked the towers, but we beat them. The hammer of aids failed for a gonzo blooper. and you are basically the new cubs. no championships. sucks being you.
>> Anonymous
>>165431

what, we go 7 years without a world series win and we're the cubs?

were not even at every other team status yet
>> Anonymous
>>165455
yeah you are, come new century odometer resets. you have as many championships in the 21st century as the White Sox, Marlins, DBacks, Cards, and fewer than the Red Sox, LULZ. You do know Schilling and Johnson did WTC? AND WON! fucking NYFAG... Schilling pwns NYC 3-0.

If you want baseball's integrity back make them unban spitballs and make them only use one ball a game.

Deadball era was the best era

no the yankees spending 300 million on payroll and failing era is best era. also, they are Schilling's bitch. I know the sport has integrity with each year the hgh/roiding yankees fail.

They aren't failing, the team is worth more than a billion dollars(almost twice as much as the next wealthiest team), and they make the playoffs every year

the Royals make money every year also. and they also do not win world's series.

Schilling will slap you down again. well only in the regular season. God Yankees spend so much to suck. Not even wild card.
