>>75011 it's not a question of whether or not he's -good-, but whether or not he's playing better now than he has in the past. despite playing fewer minutes than at almost any point in his career (due to being one of several bench shooting specialists), he's having one of his best seasons.
before this year, radman had never shot about 42.5% from the field. this season he's at 45%. his -career- average before this year was somewhere in the 41% range or so, so the difference is significant. his 3pt % is also the best its been in his career since his brief stint as a rook. the point is, he's playing the best basketball of his career (after taking a downturn during the 05 and 06 seasons) - if we're crediting KG for the improvement in his teammates, we should be doing the same for bryant.the player's 'absolute' merit is not being judged.
>>75015 you say paul pierce wasn't killing himself last season? i say:
pierce's line from '05 (the last time the celts were relevant): 36 minutes per game, 45.5% fg, 37% on 3s, 6.5 rebs, 4 assists, 21.6 ppg.
pierce's line from '07 (24 wins): 37 mpg, 44% fg (on a FAR worse team, where he was shooting 3 times more every game), 39% on 3s, 6 rebs, 4 assts, 25 points. yes, he missed a bunch of time - because he was struggling with injury almost all year.
hell, i'm a lakersfag, and i believe paul pierce is the motherfucking truth. even though it seems to be mandated now that we must hate BIGHEWHOSHALLNOTBENAMED, that quote is goddamned accurate. pierce has given pretty much everything he has for you guys for 10 straight years, and you should be damned happy you finally have a team around him that has a legit shot at a title (no, '02 doesn't count, no way anybody in the east was beating the lakers or kings that season, sorry).
