Time for some fun facts Anonymous
When Brett Favre was announcing his retirement it was broadcast live on every major radio station in Northeast Wisconsin. Yes, even the popular Rock station, 94.7, was broadcasting his press conference live.

On September 11, 2001, the attacks on the World Trade Center didnt receive this attention. Nothing was broadcast live over regular programming or anything of the sort. DJs would just bring up the fact that something terrible has happened in New York in between songs.

tl;dr - Wisconsin should be renamed to BRETT FAVRE

If I went to a crowded Wisconsin street (provided there was one) and yelled "FOOTBALL SUCKS", would Wisconsin fans (provided they can get out of their chairs) lynch me?

I doubt it, but you'd definetly get lynched for that in Texas.

Maybe if you went to Port Plaza mall in Green Bay sometime in 1997 and yelled "PACKERS SUCK" then yeah.

Contrary to popular belief, cliche, and steriotype- not everyone in Wisconsin is a fat bastard who requires medical attention if they move more than 3 feet.

If you shouted "FOOTBALL SUCKS" in the state in general, you'd be respected for declaring your opinion.

If you shouted "PACKERS SUCK!" in almost anywhere in the state, you'd be lynched to death.

If you shouted "PACKERS SUCK!" in Green Bay... you'd be dead before you can finish the 2nd word.

If you shouted that on State Street you would probably have some people agree with you and preach about how American Football is a puppet for the consumerist capitalist Imperialistic American chokehold on the World.

OP, I really don't see a huge connection. First the retirement was planned and the stations probably scheduled to broadcast it.

Second, though you are probably and underageban, but September 11th was extremely chaotic everywhere. Nobody really knew what the fuck was going on. I think for good reason, idiots who can't get a real job, didn't want to comment on a huge, and at the time unknown disaster. It's not like Walter Cronkite is the DJ of your local drive time.

No one cares about Wisconsin, the only reason I ever go there is buy fireworks and booze on sundays.

So name it whatever the hell you want.
