BEST DIVISION IN FOOTBALL
>> Anonymous
Yeah, OK
>> Anonymous
why is philly in NFC East, there are other teams who deserve the spot ahead of them
>> Anonymous

For that matter why is Dallas, TX in the NFC East? That's not very east to me. Also why is Tampa in the NFC South? Divisions don't make any sense....

That aside as a Giants fag I would hate to lose Philly or Dallas from the Beast. But Washington can go, fuck those fagets.

Tampa Bay, Florida?
You don't understand why Tampa Bay, Florida is in the South.
You are a fucking moron.
Here is a better one, why is Saint Louis in the West?

Because if they keep being a shithole, they'll go back to LA and align right.

"Also why is Tampa in the NFC South? Divisions don't make any sense...."

The rest of the post doesn't really add to it, it just shows the moron doesn't know where Tampa is located.
>> Anonymous
>Here is a better one, why is Saint Louis in the West?

Same reason why Kansas City is in the West

If the NFL actually did it based on geographic locations, Dallas would be in the NFC West, since it is further west than St. Louis.

If the NFL actually went by geographic location:
(I filled the most eastern teams first, then the leftover most northern teams, then western, then southern)

NFC East: Giants, Eagles, Panthers, Redskins
NFC North: Packers, Bears, Vikings, Lions
NFC West: Seahawks, Niners, Cowboys, Cards
NFC South: Bucs, Falcons, Rams, Saints

AFC East: Pats, Jets, Ravens, Dolphins
AFC North: Bills, Steelers, Browns, Colts
AFC West: Raiders, Chargers, Broncos, Texans
AFC South: Jags, Titans, Chiefs, Bengals

NFC East has been a tough division the past few years. It's underrated by most people.
>> Anonymous
>>331261
you sir are an idiot :)
>> Anonymous
the nfc east will never be reshuffled because of the history of the division, the NFL thrives on the ratings from NFC east divisional games because every team in the division absolutely hates eachother
>> Anonymous
Dallas is in the NFC East because they are a really good team and the Jews figured that they'd make more money developing rivalries between them and the most populous area in America, the North East Corridor.

NFC BEAST! GREATEST DIVISION IN THE NFL!

that being said, fuck the cowboys for life
>> Anonymous
>>331486

That'll just get you two more you know?
>> Anonymous
>>331480
they are in the NFC east because it was the capitol division until the early mid 70's, and there was a huge rivalry between the skins and cowboys that gave the NFL some of its highest ratings at that point in time, when they reshuffled/renamed divisions they kept the capitol division the same so they could continue to cash in on redskins cowboys.

now if you want a real question about the NFC east, the arizona/phoenix cardinals were in the NFC east through most of the 90's lol

the nfc east has won 11 super bowls, out of 42
about 25% of all super bowls have been won by 1 division

And yet that's only three of the teams. Eagles have never won one.

The Yankees have won 26 world series, out of 102
about 25% of World series have been won by one team

The modern AL East has won 6/13 since it existed, thats 50%

sport w/no cap vs sport w/cap. gee i wonder which would prevail

if the NFL had no cap, it'd come down to the cowboys, giants/jets (yes the jets), skins, and seahawks. all teams with rich owners and/or big markets. oh look, 3 of the 4 would still be in the NFC East, imagine that

> Paul Allen American computer programmer and entrepeneur who co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates. Allen regularly appears on lists of the richest people in the world. As of February 11, 2008, Forbes ranks him as the 42nd richest man in the world, worth an estimated $16 billion.

> Allen also owns three professional sports teams: the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League, the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association, and the Seattle Sounders FC franchise in Major League Soccer that will begin playing in the 2009 season.

42nd richest man in the world
owns the seahawks
no salary cap in the nfl?

paul allen is the fucking man. and i'm not even from the northwest. HE's the one living the dream. sure gates got ultra-rich and stuck with the company/his foundation, but allen left MS in 2000 (partially b/c of cancer)

and what's he do? buys sports teams, and sails around the world on his ludicrous yacht. he doesn't give a fuck

By that logic, the Oakland Raiders would be the best team in football. Al Davis is willing to overpay for literally every player he can get his hands on, but I don't think anyone here is ready to purport that the Raiders would ever be even close to a good team.

>>331575
the still doesnt change that fact that he has no idea what hes doing, whereas jerry jones has a background in football, has connections out the ass, and has the willingness to spend spend spend

When they redrew the divisions they did not want to split up some of the good rivalries. They actually make more sense now then they used to.

Best division used to be AFC West or at least most entertaining rivalries. Today it is a hard call what division is the best but maybe AFC East or NFC East
>> Anonymous
>>331594
>afc east
the afc east is awful, without brady the AFC east is equivalent to the nfc west, the 2 best divisions in football are the NFC east and the AFC south.

FYI:
The Cowboys should be in the NFC West, and technically since they are not too far north or south, the Rams should be in the NFC East, but because all the Cowboy rivalries are with NFC East teams, and the Rams only rival at any point were the 49ers, they decided the Cowboys would be in the East, and Rams would be in the West.

Yea, I know, it doesn't really work in geography, but big fucking whoop.

>>331265
It's alot better organized than it was from 1970-2001:

Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and (later on) Carolina Panthers in the NFC West?
Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis (later Arizona) Cardinals in the NFC East?
How about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stuck in the NFC Central with four other teams from far northern states?

I think they did a good job at realigning divisions since then. It's true there's still some inconsistencies (St. Louis and Dallas), but they exist more due to the traditional rivalries formed from the 1970-2001 alignment than anything.
>> Anonymous
nfc west is sooooooooooooooooo much better. THAT. BIRD. also redskins and cowboys r suxx.
>> Anonymous
The divisions are fine just as they are.
>> Anonymous
Somebody needs to look at a map and see where exactly the Dallas area market is. South and west/central. Why do the Rangers play in the division against three pacific ocean state teams while the Cowboys, whose new stadium is a few blocks away, play in the division against three Atlantic ocean teams. If you're on this side of I-30, you are west coast.

If you mean the Original Six teams, yes, once upon a time it was Detroit, Toronto, and Chicago on one side, Montreal, New York, and Boston on the other.

But recently? Toronto was moved to the East because the West had too many teams.
