AUTO RACING IS NOT A SPORT

I can make a car go just as fast as this bitch. I will never be able to pitch like Smoltz, throw like Brady, dunk like Kobe, or dive like a soccerfag. Women will never win a major competition in a real sport. It is a skill, that is all.

PROVE ME WRONG

Man, that's a huge 2nd place trophy she got.

Too bad she'll never win a race.

You could easily throw a football like Tom Brady. Have you seen his college and combine video? Just put in 5 years of work in the weight room and you too could chuck a ball 75 yards.

You are right about Patrick though. A mere 5 years worth of practice driving should give you all the experience you need to drive that fast without killing yourself. Clearly the difference there is immense!

Come back to me when you've won the F-1 world championship at the end of this season. Even though you're a couple of races behind, clearly you are good enough to more than make up the difference.

Can't. But I'm willing to bet the house that she can beat the everloving shit out of your basement-dwelling faggot ass.

Technology has improved to the point where the driver's skill isn't relevant anymore. It's all about the pitstop strategies.

He should've said split a double team from two 300 pound lineman. Not many can do that, even in the NFL.

Racing is a sport. It has a quantifiable winner and loser that is not determined by judged scores like Drifting or the majority of X-Games.

Football = whoever scores more points win. No exception.
Golf = whoever scored the least points win. No exception.
Racing of ANY type = whoever comes in first, wins. Unless they're cheating.

You make a good point. Quarterbacking isn't a sport, but playing defensive tackle is.

Sports require athletic aptitude in some form.

Racing requires that you not be so fat you can't fit in the driver's seat.

COACHING IS NOT SPORT.

I can stand on the sidelines and yell at football players just as good as this asshole. It is a skill, that is all.

It's not a sport if nobody will pay to watch it. It's just an activity or game.

Coaching isn't being contested as a sport. They aren't being called athletes by butthurt fanboys, either.

Not that the difficulty of coaching WELL is trivial...

I beg to differ. There's a lot more to it than that. Playing follow the leader at a hundred miles per hour through twists and chicanes takes a decent amount of skill, wouldn't you agree?
>> Anonymous
It takes a heavy toll physically to drive at that speed for as long as they do. Try going to your local gocart place and instead of the normal 4 laps, try 40. Do it faggot.
>> Anonymous
>>73709

"Oh fuck, I have to pee" is not a "heavy toll physically"

Pitching inning after inning takes a physical toll. Getting tackled by the 230+ lbs front eight takes a physical toll. Grinding along the boards takes a physical toll. Even flitting around a soccerfield for an hour or so can take a physical toll.

Racing doesn't involve athleticism. Quit deluding yourselves.

Is golf a sport?

>Pitching inning after inning takes a physical toll.

every fucking day from april to october.

People don't realize the physical demand it takes to play baseball because they simply ignore the fact that they play a game every day.

NASCAR and the Indy500 and all those races which go around "0" shaped circuits aren't sports. There is little chalenge to these races.

It's al about F1 and the WRC.

If you're a motorsport fan and truly feel that way, you are doing yourself a grave disservice to the overall intelligence to its fans, troll.

No I'm not, In fact I'm sharing their view. My evidence of this is based on the pure fact that more people watch WRC and F1 than NASCAR. So quit typing sophisticated sentences and look at the core facts. Your argument is about as flawed as the football/soccer argument.
>> Anonymous
>>73824
That's the dumbest argument ever. So just because more people watch F1 and WRC (in the second case, they don't, but I'll give it to you) that means that other forms of motorsport are completely devoid of talent and skill?

That's not even an argument. That's something you hear from religious fanatics about the sun or evolution.
>> Anonymous
>>73896
Not that guy, but I would say that it probably means they have LESS talent and skill. Crowds are decent indicator of the skill level of the participants and of the game.
>> Anonymous
>>73896
true, viewer ratings aren't a factor
but WRC IS by far most challenging.

Fuck the open-wheelers, they're all gay with their techno-shit and autopilots and thrust vectorings.

Rally is where the shit's really at. Now if only Loeb would kill himself already so we could have some proper fucking competition instead of him dominating all the time.

>>73777

Has obviously never been in a race car before. After a while, it's like sitting in an oven; you can lose POUNDS during a race just through sweating.

Auto racing IS a sport; however, that does not mean that it is fun to watch.

please everyone who thought this was a serious discussion please kill yourself

>>73908

So we've now determined that for something to be a sport, you must sweat...even if it's just because it's hot?

Saunas are like inverse hockey arenas?

Now, if you want to quit the bullshit and actually get to some factors finally, you're right. I agree that WRC requires the most car control of any major racing series. And that equals talent.

I watch every race of: F1, NASCAR, GP2, IRL. I try to follow as much as I can of MotoGP and SBK, but mostly a few days behind. I don't get DTM or FIAGT in the States, but I try to download or catch end-of-season reviews of each round.

Each requires their own skill. Qualifying one to the other is skewed, but more importantly, it's academic. it's fucking racing man.
