do they realize how bad their bullpen is?

K-Rod wouldn't make it better. Their problem isn't at closer, their problem is getting to the closer. Its going to take a whole remake of the bullpen. Signing 3 or 4 guys for $15 million would make more sense than signing K-Rod would.

And what 3 or 4 great pitchers are free agents that you speak of? K-Rod really is the only answer as of right now to their problem, they need someone to end the games...that's K-Rod.

bullpen guys? Joe Biemel for one. Lefty, can be used for multiple innings, can be a LOOGY, etc. I'd take a flyer on Juan Cruz who pitched for the D'Backs this year.

If the Mets want to get creative, and go cheap. I'd scour every reliever not protected by teams in minor leagues and go crazy in the rule 5 draft. Only cost you 50,000 per player plus veteran salary min. You could rebuild a bullpen for only $5 million or so if you really wanted to.

Brian Fuentes

Fuentes will make more than $10.

No, they have a problem at closer now too, what with Wagner being ready to come back from TJS just in time for his contract to expire.

still a better option to go to for a middle reliever than K-Rod.

Why not start trading prospects for bullpen talent? Hell, even convert Pedro to a relief role.

As soon as they find out where Lastings Milledge and Carlos Gomez went, they'll get right on it!

They've still got guys in the system even though trading Milledge for Brian fucking Schneider of all people was hilarious.

The big problem with either K-Rod, or Fuentes is that they're both Type-A FAs, and will demand your first rounder. If you're the Mets, you want to reload that farm system.

The Mets don't care about that, and the fans could careless.

No, we're just gonna trade our prospects again for someone to keep us in the hunt the last game of the regular season, again...

That should invalidate the sentence right there.
