IF Bolt were to entertain the idea of playing an american sport, either on a long term or more likely a temporary kind of stunt basis, I think he'd be better off pinch running for a baseball team.

Bolt actually prefers real football, over padball.

>After breaking the 100m and 200m world records this summer Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is now dreaming of another challenge - trying his hand at football by training alongside Real Madrid.
>> Anonymous
>>300496and Usain Bolt is a complete non-factor.

Except, now he's effectively occupying two defenders any time he's on the field. What happens when you line another reciever next to him to fork or cross when they get deep? Oh, right, a twenty yard completion.

Totally doesn't affect a game at all.
>> Anonymous
>>300536
This. Bolt might not make a lot of catches but he'll turn another little white boy into Wes Welker.
>> Anonymous
>>300536

Bullshit, this is completely retarded and non-reflective of reality. You don't know what you are talking about.

Any half decent zone coverage renders Bolt's speed completely worthless, and since he has no training or background in the sport, he can't adjust and do anything else to help the offense move the ball. If he tries to run a post, even if he managed to get open he will get obliterated by the stupidest lb or ss in the league. Bolt can't possibly run crisp enough routes or sharp enough cuts to fool and defensive back, even a dude who is half as fast as he is in the open field.

So, now the brilliant team who puts Bolt on the field has ten guys on offense instead of eleven.

Just one more indicator that I am obviously right and you are an idiot...if any NFL team thought Bolt could help even a little bit, what is preventing them from at least contacting him and offering him a contract or a camp tryout. Guess what? Don't hold your breath, because it won't happen, because even the Cardinals know that Bolt can't do shit to help any NFL team win football games.

tl;dr you are a fucking complete idiot, kill yourself and do the world a favor.
>> Anonymous
>>300555

I'm an idiot because you don't understand how double-teaming a reciever leaves other recievers open?

Yeah, that never happens in the NFL. Nope never in any season has any offense exploited an aggressive defense. Never. Ever.

Also, if you play zone everytime Bolt would be on the field, the offense would just start running for easy short gains every down. Yeah, I think your attempt to depict Bolt as a non-factor by using examples where a defense is reacting to him and him alone is a little...ass-backward.
>> Anonymous
>>300564
>>300564
agreed, the mere threat of him going deep on every play puts tremendous pressure/constraint on a defense. The question is can he catch, take a hit, run routes. The fact that other sprinters before him never did it speaks volumes though.

>> Anonymous

Stop posting. When your linebackers are starting flat-footed or backpedaling because they've been told to play zone, they cannot get the jump to close gaps as they normally would. You're left with five o-linemen pushing 3-4 d-linemen PLUS a fullback or tightend to block whichever linebacker responds first.

All because Bolt is on the field.

But go ahead, just keep claiming you know more about football and that you're right just because you say you are.
>> Anonymous

Gault was not just a sprinter in college, he also, wait for it, played football.

The point is sprinters who have only spent their entire lives just running fast don't suddenly decide to step on to a football field and magically contribute more than guys who have worked their whole lives for it.

So, Usain Bolt goes to Chargers camp. In a sprint, he outruns all of their wide receivers and their defensive backs. Then, Bolt gets into pads and gets thoroughly embarrassed by every actual wide receiver on the roster.

If you are convinced of any other outcome of this, you are a fool. And trying to hide behind Willie Gault is idiotic.

Maybe you could try to hide behind Bob Hayes, but then you are saying the NFL of 2008 is the same as the NFL of 1964, and that's equally as stupid.

>> Anonymous
I think if Bolt was serious about playing football, they'd have to stick him under a special development organization for a few years to get his skill up to the level of other receivers. I wouldn't doubt he would be used a few times (and more often late in a season) as a kick returner (not punt), but that would be about it. Bolt would really have a lot of committed work to do to make it as a receiver, he would definitely not be able to just go in and learn it quickly, whoever thinks that is just fuckin retarded and hasn't played the sport obviously.

Just look at Devin Hester, fastest motherfucker in the league, but why doesn't he play wideout? Yes, he's been used there a few times, and we all know if he was able to adjust to it he'd be great, but he hasn't adjusted to it yet, because IT ISN'T THAT EASY. That's the best example I can give you right there where a fast FOOTBALL player can't even make it as a full time wideout yet.
