All I heard the entire fucking playoffs from that bitch CB was how Fleury was one of the top three goaltenders in the league if not the best. He's not. That makes him overrated. What makes him a piece of shit? He's on the Pens.
>> Anonymous
I hate the Penguins and I hate the Wings, but I hate the Penguins more, because they are cross-state rivals, their fans are obnoxious retards who just started watching the game this season and think they are the greatest team ever. I'm getting tired of hearing people compare this Pens team to the 80's Oilers teams, those Oiler teams are above and beyond better than this piece of shit team. Enjoy this Pensfags, you won't be seeing this team come this far in the playoffs for a LONG time, and enjoy sitting in an empty arena.

Fucking dumbass, the original fag was talking about the 'game-winning' goal, not the later goal, faggot. Originalfag is a pens fan, who would take the 'lattermost goal of the game' any day, seeing how it was Malkin's first goal in the finals. He thinks the refs shouldn't ave let Zetterberg have that goal, but he's a dumbfag, and you're an failfag for thinking he was talking about the Malkin goal.

So please, heed my hippo.

I'll take that. I really don't think Fleury is good at all, but I'll take that. I just think he's too fucking shaky and inconsistent for him to be as good as people like to say he is.

Remember the toe save on ... Samuelsson or someone on a one-timer? That doesn't mean shit after Filppula's weak garbage goal AND his own-ass goal.
>> Anonymous
>>136569
yeah great saves are great, but doesnt help when you cant clean up the little stuff
ex: he and his teammates misread/fail to cover puck on third goal by Hank

Fluery is very very streaky, he'll show flashes of brilliance like in game 5, then he'll show his true colors and let in some really bad goals. He'll get mad cash during this off-season though.
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
Serious hockey newfag here, but even I could tell Fleury was quite good this series.

However, Osgood looked like he was being carried by his team. Was this an illusion based on the level of Fleury's play (and the failure of his defensemen), or was Osgood actually sub-par (for a Cup winning goalie)?

No flames necessary, actually a newfag, not a troll.
>> Anonymous
>>136599
Osgood is a good goalie with good defensemen.

He is, however, getting old.
>> Anonymous
>>136603
That means nothing when you're talking about the Red Wings.
>> Anonymous
>>136599
Fleury was inconsistant. He was ridiculous in Game 5 but in every series he played in he let in shitloads of soft goals. Fuck, he knocked in the GWG tonight himself.

Osgood dosen't get nearly enough credit IMO. Yeah he has a really good defensive squad in front of him but you can't expect them to stop everything, and when they need him to make a good play he can be relied upon to do it - see the last second or so of tonight's game, we very well could have had a Game 5 repeat had Osgood not kept himself on his toes right up to the final buzzer. And let's face it, Hasek had that same defensive team in most of the first round and his wins looked worse than Ozzie's losses.

tl;dr - You're kinda sorta right on both counts, but not quite there.
>> Anonymous
>>136599
wingsfag here, I kind of agree, Osgood at times looked like his team carried him, but he has came up big and made great saves as well all playoffs. He was definitely an upgrade over Hasek. But say, for this series alone, if the wings had fleury and pens had osgood, wings would sweep--that's how much better fleury was than osgood this series.
>> Anonymous
>>136480

At least one of your teams is better than Detroit.

Oh by the way, faggot, how does it taste to have the cup raised by another team on your home ice? I bet it tastes nice...
>> Anonymous
>>136613
That's not saying much...
>> Anonymous
>>136613
we'll see who's the better team at the end of the season.
>> Anonymous
>>136603
Old he is, and so is Hasek. Hasek wouldnt surprise me if he decides to retire along with Chelios since both their contracts are expired after june.So the goalie situation for Detroit could be up in the air next year, With Howard probably called up.
>> Anonymous
>>136615
The Red Wings were top, period, at the end of this season.

Oh, you mean next season?
>> Anonymous
>>136617
no I'm talking about baseball. He's saying pirates are better than tigers, and they're only up a couple games on us, as our talent is now coming around and we got some players back, and a few more coming back in a month.
>> Anonymous
>>136622

>> Anonymous
>>136616
from what I've been hearing all season long, chelios "supposedly" wants to play another couple of years (unless he said something about retiring after winning the cup). I lol'd, I mean I like the guy alot and give him credit for what he did with my team but he's just wayyy to old.

Hasek does need to retire, and Osgood is like 35 I think, so ya' he's getting up there. We should've kept Legace...

Hopefully there'll be a goalie sweepstakes. Any great goalie's contracts ending pretty soon?
>> Anonymous

Wait, people care about hockey?

Since when?
>> Anonymous
>>136616
Hasek is most likely not going to be picked up for next season; I expect retirement. Osgood is on contract for another...two seasons I think, so it'll be him starting and Howard squaring up with Larsson for the backup position (likely Howard though).

Chelios... fuck, who knows?
>> Anonymous
You know, it's funny; these days, Detroit never seems to have THE goalie.

No disrespect to Osgood, of course. More than ever he proved he's still got it.

Hockey is ten times the sport of basketball of football. Rougher, faster, much more difficult, and takes much more talent.
>> ? BravesFag62 !!gNy6YVXV64J
>>136633
i hope he doesn't retire.

i love looking at his bleach blonde hair on the wings webpage and going, "man, what a douche."

even though i love the wings.
>> Anonymous
>>136627
Osgood still has a couple years left on his contract, he's gonna start and Howard will probably be his backup. We don't need to make a big splash for a superstar goalie, the Wings' blue line makes it unnecessary. Good news is that we have Osgood for next to nothing until said contract expires, so there's plenty of room for a free-trade splash elsewhere on the roster.
>> Anonymous
>>136638

Not trolling. I'm seriously surprised to discover people care about hockey. I think I'm just used to people in my own city who can't be bothered to even remember we have a hockey team, let alone pay attention to the sport as a whole.

>> Anonymous
>>136633
Chelios needs to retire, no excuses. Hasek was supposed to retire a few years ago after buffalo, but he didnt, so both those guys need to end on a high not and retire now, Osgood is on contract for 2 more season, and I dont expect him to push it much farther than that.
Dan Eliis (Nashville) will be a free agent if the preds dont resign him. (Preds have Mason and Rinne, but would be crazy to let Ellis go)

>> Anonymous
well ozzie has played great all season and playoffs, but next season is a different story, so we'll see what happens, but if ozzie's fit, we're good as golden to make another finals run. In a couple years, he'll most likely retire, so I'm sure --depending on how howard pans out or not-- there will be good talent available for the wings at the netminder spot

Well if Hasek retires, Osgood cant carry the team for the whole season, which means going to 40-50 games a season to 70+ with an unproven rookie backup, can Osgood handle it? nobody knows.

>>136665
good point, but I think Howard will be fine once Hasek is gone, and yes it will probably most likely be an Osgood/Howard split.
