Less than 600 people at the Marlins game yesterday. There were more people on the Walt Whitman Bridge on my way home from work today than the people that showed up to see the Marlins.

LET'S MOVE TO MONTREAL! FUCK YEAR!
>> Anonymous
Why do the Marlins have such poor attendance? Hell if I lived in a city with a major league team I would try to go to as many games as I could especialy if nobody went to the games I mean think about it ANY seat you wanted any.
>> Anonymous
They should move to Las Vegas because I live in Las Vegas.

it just doesn't seem to be popular in florida. shit, the Rays are at the top of the league for the first time in franchise history, let alone a winning season, and they are far from selling out.

Places that would be better than Miami for the Marlins

Portland
Austin
Oklahoma City
Tulsa
Omaha
Louisville
Memphis
El Paso
Las Vegas
Albuquerque
Ottawa
Richmond
Fresno

How much are tickets? The cheapest at the Trop are $11, hell, if you don't want them down there, we'll take 'em up here at Disney, Florida teams actually win here.

Also time for some suspicion among Florida teams: There's a new Stadium coming in Tampa Bay within 3 or 4 years, the Rays are expected to come to Orlando, Dolphin Stadium is going to be destroyed soon.
So Tampa Bay->Orlando
Florida(Miami)->Tampa Bay

Though, this whole idea may just be a bit....
Farfetch'd
Move them to Portland. Call them the Salmon.
>> Anonymous
Protip: Orlando is currently the largest TV market WITHOUT an MLB team. Prior to the Expos move to D.C., they were the largest without. Where do you think MLB will go to if a team FAILS at making money?
>> Anonymous
>>315433
heck if they'd move to orlando they would have a vast fan base theres mad caribbean hispanics there... they love baseball... dolphin stadium is like in no mans land ppl just don't like going there.

San Antonio?

>>315433
I don't know, I'm more adamant on my previous suspicions, if any team moves to the central Florida area it's going to be bought by Disney, and Disney is more of an AL type owner (see Angels)

FUCKIN NORTH CAROLINA

how long before we get a team. UNC is like the best college baseball program and the durham bulls are one of the most historic minor league teams ever
>> Anonymous
>>315464

I seriously doubt that Disney would buy the Rays or Marlins. They didn't directly give out one dime for the new Orlando Events Center for the Magic, so why should we expect them to give a damn about MLB?

who wants to sit in for 3+ hours in a scorching 90 degree sun with 99% humidity?

Also people are sick of the Marlins shit. They want us to build them a 500+ million dollar domed stadium. Welfare for millionairres? I dont think so.

Also they dump the payroll every year.

sick of their shit? what more do you want from a 2 time championship franchise? hell the tigers haven't won since 84 and they still sellout, and look at their shithole of a city. everybody has there ups and downs so stop being a fairweather faggot
>> Anonymous
>>315740
Yeah, but after each of their World Series victories they totally dismantled the team, trading away anybody remotely good and didn't even attempt a repeat.

Not the same Anon, but still.

>>315428
Doubt Rays will move. St. Pete is hellbent on keeping them.

>>315382
It's there FIRST winning season, give it time. Also, a large portion of the area is transplants from the northeast (I guess it's the shit-hole of the country the way they come to Florida).

I could see the Marlins moving to Orlando, definitely would increase the market.

For those of you who don't know, Disney hosts a series every year of the Rays and it always sells out. Maybe that's why they might move there.

I live 5 minutes from Dolphin stadium and stopped going to Marlins games after the last WS team was gutted. Once a player is about to make more then minimum wage they get rid of them.

Fuck Jeff Loria. He failed in Montreal and he is failing even harder in Miami.

As a Florida fag and a Marlins fan that goes to about 10 games a year, I will tell you why the attendance is shitty.

1.Fans do not trust the team. Every time we look like we have a good team, it is taken apart the next year. Also, many baseball teams have been around for years, while the Marlins are still a relatively new franchise. Only people in my age group have grown up with them (23).

2. Horrible, horrible baseball stadium. Not only do we share it with the Dolphins, in the summer South Florida is very, hot and even worse, Humid. Plus there is so much rain.

Hopefully when the new stadium is finished in a couple of years, and now that we have the MLBs best young star (Hanley Ramirez) in a contract long term, things will change.

Or maybe Florida has very important ports and businesses that need to be manned by intelligent people which Florida lacks desperately so the bring them in from the best part of America

Crap, I didn't see that last there...
>> Anonymous
>>315861

Not from what I have seen. Usually the people from the North East that live in Florida now are dumb shit fucktards that have spread like some fucking cancer.

Just wish all the snow birds would gtfo out of here. Excuse the rant.
>> Anonymous
>>315742
Well maybe if their fans actually bought tickets and went to games, they wouldn't have to trade away their good players all the time.
>> Anonymous
>>315906

We did go to games. Then they got rid of there players.

Try to keep up.
>> Anonymous
I'm from Miami, and I don't want to be outside for 10 minutes during the summer, much less for an entire baseball game.

Florida doesn't have many pure fans. Almost everyone who roots for any team is from up north, maybe thats why when you see a real one, they're so bitter. That or they're a butthurt Yankee fan.
>> Anonymous
>>316160
Jets - Dolphins is the only sellout this year.

Tickets are so abundant for the rest of the season that every game is bound to be blacked out. The local station is tired of covering the expense to lift the blackout.
>> Anonymous
>>316085
Hey, my uncle's a die-hard Jaguars fan.

Season tickets and everything. Hell, he had repeated back surgeries and managed to make four games last season while recovering.
