EUROFAGS

Explain club soccer to me.

I know there are clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Sparta Praha.

Do they play each other? What is this about Premier League, Bundesliga, and Serie 1? What did Manchester just win?

I tried to google, but it failed me.

Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A are each countries (England, Germany and Italy respectively) own leagues where they play other teams from the same country.

Champions League is where the best teams from each league play each other. This is what Manchester just won.

I'll tl;dr this for you my friend.

In every European country, there is a specific number of clubs in each division, e.g. 18 in Germany or 20 in England or Spain. Each top league has its own name in the country's official language:

England: Premier League
Spain: Primera División (which translates to 'First Division')
Germany: Bundesliga ('Federal League')
Netherlands: Eredivisie
Italy: Serie A
Sweden: Allsvenskan

... and so on. Some of these leagues have succumbed to oppressive Eurocapitalism and the bourgeoisie has arranged to change their names and adopt several trademarks, e.g. the English Premier League is now called Barclays Premier League, and we refer now to the second-top Spanish League, formerly "Segunda División", as Liga BBVA. Imperialistic pigs have yet to be burnt at the stake.

Whenever one of these competitions is over, typically by May-June (depending on whether an Euro Cup or World Cup takes place that year etc), the top team is the champion of that country. For example, Bayern München won Bundesliga, Real Madrid won La Liga, Manchester Utd won Premier League. This has nothing to do with USA winning FIFA for your interest.

Now, there is another competition (in knockout format) in each country called the Cup. Most countries have only one tournament they call the Cup, which is decided by never-ending play-offs, except Englishfags who have two (FA Cup and Carling Cup). This shows how much they fail at life and why they should become heroes asap.

Let us talk about European competitions now.

The most important football tournament in the planet, except the World Cup, is the European Champions League. This is an All-European knockout tournament, played by clubs from Europe and Asia (remember Turkish sandniggers and Israeli Jews are NOT European) depending on how strong their leagues are. The most important leagues in the world are the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A and Spain's La Liga, such that the top four English, four Italian and four Spanish teams in their final league standings have the right to play the Champions League the next season. Weaker leagues include Germany's Bundesliga or France's Ligue 1, so the top three German, and three French teams are going to enter next season's Champions League. As long as the least important leagues are concerned (e.g. Ireland, Sweden, Luxembourg), only the league champion has the right to play the next Champions League. This tournament has a preliminary k.o. round with teams such as the Andorran champion, the Latvian champion, etc., and the real competition starts in a format that is similar to this year's Euro Cup (qualifying round -> playoffs).

The UEFA Cup is played by the Cup winners of each country, except the gay Englishfags who have two Cups and still fail at UEFA. Other qualifiers include runners-up in weak leagues, and other criteria in elite leagues (e.g. the 5th and 6th qualifiers in Spain's La Liga and the Italian Serie A have the right to join next season's UEFA Cup as well). The UEFA Cup tournament is similar to the Champions League, but it is less prestigeous. Still, a UEFA Cup Champion is widely regarded as one of the world's strongest teams.

In addition, there is sum faggotry during summer called "Intertoto" which is so full of fail that it's not even worth mentioning. Intertoto is European football's /b/ to let you know. The winners of all three simultaneous Intertoto finals will enter UEFA as well.

Serie A above UEFA? Sorry but seriously NO U.

1. World Cup
2. Champions League

5. Premier, Liga, Serie A

The UEFA Cup is still more prestegious than individual leagues, apart from possibly the EPL.

UEFA Cup is in no way more prestigious than the top 3 leagues. People try to make it that way, but so far they failed at that.

The World Cup and EURO are the most important trophies in football, no question about it. Also, bandwagon fans value the CL above their clubs domestic league, while real fans value their domestic league above the CL and any other UEFA faggotry.

I respect your opinion but disagree.

1.World Cup (national in FIFA)
2.European Championship (national in UEFA)
4. UEFA Champions Leauge (club in UEFA)
5. Premier League (domestic clubs England)
6. Premiera Division (domestic clubs Spain)
7. Serie A (domestic clubs Italy)
8. UEFA Cup (club in FIFA)
9. Copa America (national in CONMEBOL)
10. Ligue 1 (domestic clubs France)

Probably the Top 10 in the world

National Level:

-World Cup
-Euro
-Copa America

Club Level:

-Champions League
-UEFA Cup/Copa Libertadores
-EPL/La Liga/Serie A
-other european/latin america leagues

don't mix national and club competitions, completely different things.

This.

>>177685
ofc you can mix them.
as the UEFA Champions League is more important than the Copa america, and winning the Premier League is more important than winning the UEFA Cup, or the south american equivalent.
Its goes,
World Cup
Euro Championship
UEFA Champions Leauge
English Premier League
Serie A / La Liga
UEFA Cup
-- Rest is shit

One thing to mention, that I think is not as common in American leagues, is the system of relegation and promotion within each country's league system

At the end of the season, the bottom 3 Premier League clubs get relegated, and the top 3 clubs from the league below get promoted. This exchange happens all the way down the league system, which has many levels. Pretty much all teams, even from the 7th or 8th level leagues play in the FA Cup, which can lead to interesting matches, like Liverpool vs Havant and Waterlooville.

I would say the league is more important than the Champions League. It's every big teams main objective at the start of the season (except Liverpool, but even they say they it is)

Also, Soccer is not a word coined by Americans.
>> Anonymous
>>177995
Also I'm a britfag and we coined it. It comes from association football, and we created it so it and rugby could be differentiated. Rugby football or just ruby for short, and association football or soccer for short. Overtime soccer fell out of major use in this country as rugby simple became known as rugby and football just became the world for the one sport (over here). Rugby teams often still have football in their names.

Who cares what people call it. You call it soccer. You call it football. I call it the beautiful game, so fuck you!
