hai /sp/

I'm thinking I'm gonna start liking hockey. But I need a team to root for. I'm not disclosing my location just yet because I don't want this to be a huge factor, but I am in the North East, and have arenas near me to go to when my team visits.

I have never really liked hockey before, so I would like a team that is exciting to watch. They don't have to be the best, but not incredibly boring and unbearable to watch. I would like some good players. A prolific goal scorer. Maybe a brawler too, that'd be nice. And some fucking nice uniforms. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks /sp/.

I say Bruins. They're a likeable team and they've been solid as of late.

They can play any style of hockey, they're pretty fast and they're easily one of the tougher teams in the Eastern Conference.

Don't judge them based on the faggotry of Sox/Pats/Celtics fans.

Root for the Blackhawks. Good players (Toews, Kane, Havlat, Sharp, Campbell, Keith), prolific goal scorer (Kane), brawler (Burish), and one of the best uni sets in the league. They're an exciting young team that scores a lot, and they'll be contending for a while.

I'm trying to get into the NHL since it's the only sport I don't have a team for. I live 200 miles from the nearest pro team (San Jose) but I never liked Bay Area shit. I think I'm leaning towards the Canucks because Vancouver is one of the only cities I don't hate and it's the nearest Canadian team.

Red Wings are a great team, but you'll look like a bandwagonfag cheering for them if you're outside of Michigan.

Sabres are young and fast. You won't look like a bandwagonfag but you might have to deal with "no goal" type of shit year after year.

If I were you I'd just watch a bunch of games and see what team you like. Or watch some youtube videos, maybe that'll be faster.

careful, you don't want to be a bandwagon jumper. NYI and the Leafs make good candidates, given the Leafs' inability to be consistent and the Islanders' current standing. Careful though, cheering for a team that recently was really good might make you a jumper too, like a Gretzky team.

Chicago, Washington & St. Louis are two teams with some of the best young prospects in the NHL. Even if they lose, they're still entertaining. Both teams are going to be FORCES in the coming years.

I'm a Canucks fan, I live in Vancouver. The Blackhawks are my 2nd favorite team.
>> Anonymous
I'm going to suggest the Caps, and if not them Chicago; both have some great young talent but still need to find the right piece to make them a real cup contender, you'll enjoy seeing them rise to become powerhouses (given if they retain core players, caps have done great so far, chicago still remains to be seen)

Bruins fan here, but I'd say Bruins. Awesome team to watch. This year is going to be epic. They are playing amazingly right now.
Toronto isn't too bad wither. I'm from the area, but they are playing a hardworking game nowadays and should get better in the next few years. Retarded number of fans here but its probably better in the NE USA.
Habs are a decent team too. I hate the shit out of them, but they are a good team to root for, I've got a shitload of Habs fans. Abit gayer then the rest of the NE though.
Philly might not be so bad either. I still hate them but they play good hockey and should at leat make the playoffs, and in the end its all about playoff hockey anyways.
