ESPN just ran a piece on the failures of our other teams.

Flyers got swept by the Red Wings in 97, Red Wings started their dynasty which still hasn't ended really.

76ers got beat down by the Lakers in 2001 in the middle of their three-peat.

Eagles lost in the Super Bowl to the Patriots as their last big hurrah before 18-1, etc.

Is it destiny that we have to face Boston, another team in the midst of a long successful run and probably get our asses handed to us by them?

Or, do we get our asses beat down by Tampa Bay in the first of what may very well be many World Series victories for them in the next decade?

Oh god what the hell do we do

You do what Philly always does in the championship game.

Lose.

i'm just waiting for someone on the rays to do this again...this was truly a great moment in pwnage history

If the Phillis lose to the Rays (If they make it), I'll be so fucking mad. When a team is in the pennant race at the end of August and you're still only drawing 10,000 fans, your fans don't deserve the joy of a championship.

KEEP TROLLIN' TROLLIN' TROLLIN' TROLLIN' TROLLIN'

We stay the full 54 outs dude... not like in LA where they arrive "fashionably late" (read: not full until like the 5th), and leave the minute Matt Stairs hits a bomb... that stadium was empty before the top of the 9th.. that is pathetic, especially in the playoffs.

And Tampa Bay? They averaged 22,000 fans per game this season... 5th worst in the league... 52.8 percent attendance rating... what a joke. They didn't care until October came around and now everyone claims they are a die hard rays fan and have been for the past 11 season... bullshit.

As for the Phillies? 42,254 per game average, 3.4 mil+ season attendance, and a 97.1 percent attendance rating...

How many sellout games did TB have this year prior to September? I'd be interested to know...

Oh, and as for the Dodgers... they averaged a 46,000+ fans per game too... it's a shame their stadium seats an extra 10,000+ people and their attendance was only 82.2%.

Phillies fans pack the stadium every day... thats how we do.

Philly fans do this now, when their team is good.
Remember the Veteran's Stadium? How often was that filled up? How many people came to see the mighty Phillies then?

The Rays have no fans because they've been losers who play in a shitty dome for 10 years.

If performance was dictated by attendance, then we would be having another Subway Series this year.

>>409072As for the Phillies? 42,254 per game average, 3.4 mil+ season attendance, and a 97.1 percent attendance rating...

bullshit. the seats get sold, but every time i see an phillies game they're mostly fucking empty. it's because 1) phillies fans leave early when they're losing and more importantly 2) most of the seats, especially the season tickets are corporate bought but usually empty for the game.

Tampa Bay fans still don't show up, even when their team is gettin' 97 wins in a season...

That, sir, is what makes them pathetic and undeserving of a championship.

I never said that performance was dictated by attendance, I said that the Phillies have more true fans than the Rays...

But here's one to think about by your logic, if attendance is dictated by performance, THEN WHO WAS RAYS FANS

Wow, 0/10 on the meme use. In fact, this whole thread is a tribute to your failure, you should leave it alone and pray it slides past page ten. Lurk much more and try go get a feel for how this 'posting' stuff works, try again in 6 months. Oh wait, you're a Philly fan, give it a couple years.

Boston has no chance of beating Tampa Bay. As for Philly, that will be a good Series against Tampa Bay because it'll come down to pitching. Who can start and hold off the other team's monster hitters long enough to scrape a win?

Tampa Bay, consider yourself on notice

Whether or not anyone shows up to watch them doesn't make them undeserving. The players have no control over lazy Floridians.

>>409130
Ok... let me try to break this down for you again...

I'm not talking about the players, I'm not talking about the team... I'm talking about the fans themselves being undeserving of the championship... the City of Philadelphia deserves this more than the City of Tampa Bay...

That's my only point here...

I don't know how it's going to turn out, obviously I want the Phils to win, but I don't wanna jinx it. I can't wait though, it's gonna be good.
>> Anonymous
Seriously, why the FUCK do you faggots care so much whether or not fans show up to a game or not?

A team wins a championship because they're better than their opponent; this whole bullshit notion of "omG their fAns dont cum Out tO w4tch teh games there4 dEy dont deserVe to wiN" is just completely ridiculous.

The fans might not be deserving of a championship but the players are.

still not understanding the concept here guys... stop trying to win an argument that isn't about what you think it's about....

I'm simply defending the fans... some troll comes in here and starts talking about how Philly "Trashfans" leave midway through the games, and I'm making the point that the dude either has no idea what the fuck he's talking about, or he's a troll... follow the reply links back up the list.

multiple publications have heavily criticized philadelphia fans of all four sports for their behavior at sporting events, known for booing players, other teams fans, and throwing things. However they have ALWAYS been lauded for their dedication, passion, and knowledge of their local teams. As a transplant from NY to Philly i hate these fucks but they most definitely give a fuck when it comes to sports teams in the city. I hope the phillies win so these people stop whining and shut the fuck up but if your calling their dedication into question you are UNEDUCATED and a troll. The only team in this city that has trouble filling the seats is the sixers post iverson.

As a Bawwwstonian, I think I'm reseigned to it being the Rays in the World Series this time. They've come back from 3-0/3-1, but given the assreaming of the last two games, I don't expect a comeback this time around.
