While the SEC is still clearly the best conference in the country (much to my chagrin), I'm going to go ahead and say that the Big Ten will be the second best conference.

Ohio State is a serious contender for the national championship (again), Wisconsin and Illinois will likely be preseason top 15, Penn State has some killer players coming back (if they can just get a good quarterback), and Rich Rodriguez will turn Michigan around to a good year, I suspect.

And you can't disregard Michigan State's talent either.

Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana and Northwestern won't be anything memorable, but then again, neither will Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt or Kentucky.

My Badgers are at #12 right now. PJ Hill should be in heisman-contention. Our O-Line measures an average 6'1", 325 pounds. Travis Beckum is indisputably the best TE in the nation. We have the best D-Line in the Big Ten.

But we still would be the 4th or 5th best SEC team.

>Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt or Kentucky

How do you figure? Kentucky and Mississippi State both won bowl games last year, and state has plenty coming back. Kentucky has to replace just about every skill position player out there, but Brooks knows quarterbacks and I'll wager they'll get someone to step up. Just about everyone has Ole Miss tabbed as one of the most improved teams in the nation after they traded in the biggest dumbass in coaching for a pretty big dumbass (plus Jevan Snead coming in as qb).

Vandy? They've had great shots the last two years to get bowl-eligible, but I can't see it happening this year.

Quit even trying to compare your conference to the SEC op.

whistling past the graveyard...the graveyard of long-dead national championship hopes

seriously, any team or conference that was once great and now sucks, they will go on and on about how great they were and how great they still are...they can't handle the truth...they are over and done, the Big 10's glory is far, far behind them and will never return

Hey shitheads.

So you're saying Ohio State isn't great anymore?

We MADE it to the National Championship the past two years.

We WON the National Championship in the 2002 season.

We had three bowl game wins between national championship trips.

2007 was a rebuilding year, since we lost basically our entire offense...2008 was always supposed to be the championship year.

We have 52 former players on active rosters in the NFL.

Ohio State is consistently one of the best teams in the country, along with USC, LSU, Florida, Texas...you just hate us because we're good.

Once we beat USC the next two years, you faggots will have to find someone else to troll.

It's a reaction to everyone saying how shitty we are ALL THE FUCKING TIME. No one in the Big Ten thought our conference was that great last year, which is why seeing all this skill for 2008 is exciting.

ALSO, to those who bawwww about OSU losing the national championship the past two years...what about Oklahoma? They lost two years in a row too.

2004:
USC 55
Oklahoma 19

2003:
LSU 21
Oklahoma 14

I'm a Badger fan and I have never said the Big Ten is even on the same playing field as the SEC. I firmly believe that we are the fourth best league behind SEC, PAC10, and BIGXII. It's only Ohio State and Michigan fags who are so goddamned militant about this. I hate both teams so they can both go to hell.

pac 10: usc, arizona state, oregon

OP here, I was trying to have a reasonable conversation about college football. I should've known that any time Ohio State or the Big Ten is mentioned, it would bring out trolls and morons.

Whether you like Ohio State or not, you have to respect them for the talent they have.

By the way, you should make up your mind about the 2006 national championship. Half the time you say OSU choked, the other half you say Florida and the SEC are so much better and OSU is overrated. It can't be both.

And LSU was favored to win the 2007 national championship the entire year. Losing to a favored team isn't choking.
