Hey /sp/, aspiring <===== player here.

I want to be a fucking awesome player. I've given it thought, and I want to make my living doing this. I realize this is pointless as I will probably never make it, but I would die for the chance as there's nothing I'd rather do.

I originally thought the more playtime the better. So I joined 5 teams. One recreational indoor, one rec outdoor (co-ed), one mens league indoor, one mens outdoor, and one men's amateur league team (one of the best in my province). I'm not good enough for the amateur team, so I decided I'm forfeit making the team and just practice with them.

But now, I'm realizing I'm way better than some of my other teams. Better to the point of not improving my skill with them as they just play like shit.

Do I ditch the shit teams next year and begin practicing by myself for maximal gains? Or do I stick with the in-game experience, even though some is bad?

I need to catch up as I used to be a hardcore /v/ fag up until two years ago. I'm 19 now. I'm pretty good, I barely missed out on the amateur team, and I really want to stick with this, and I'll sacrifice almost anything. I have two plans - one is to go to university, get my major, then apply for a college or university for my master's with a soccer team and go from there. That, or I could move to Britain and try start something up there in a lowly team.

Also, what about my training? I train whenever I possibly can, but I always feel as though I can't be good enough. Any ball training I can do by myself? I juggle, wall-pass, practice tricks, free-kicks...

Help me be the bloody best.

play in the minor leagues, boy. If you think you're hot shit and don't mind having a day job as a trash collector (lol havant and waterlooville) , then move to england and play in the conference teams. With luck you MIGHT have a good run in the FA cup (lol barnsley, lol cardiff) and get noticed

You're probably too late, by this point. I played soccer for six or so years, and was scouted at the tender age of fifteen. I didn't make the cut, but the oldest person I know who got scouted was seventeen when he was scouted. It'd be really tough for you to find a way into a serious league when you're literally a nobody at this point. My friend, who was scouted along with me, DID make it, which was awesome seeing as how when he came to the country three years earlier, he was very very bad. However, he was VERY gung-ho about his training, and would practice upwards of two hours a day.

Rather than focus on primarily soccer-based skills, he would put equal emphasis on conditioning. The kid was always getting new weights, he would run further and further each day and just really focused on his conditioning and fitness just as much as his actual soccer skills. This is really important, as it's speed and endurance that gets you to the ball first- it doesn't matter if you can win a challenge if you can't actually reach the challenge in time.

However, like I said, your age definitely doesn't work in your favor. A kid I knew was scouted by the French soccer program a while back. he was like fourteen, and he wasn't allowed to play on our school team- the frenchmen wouldn't let him :(. Even I was scouted at a young age, not nineteen, and I never really considered myself that good- I was a cheapshot artist defenseman. You have a ton of work to do if you want to catch up with aspiring pros who have literally been training for years, and there's a very good chance you won't be able to. Still, I admire your determination if you really are willing to sacrifice everything. Work on conditioning, and form good habits- practicing something wrong is worse than not practicing it at all, dammit.

Your career is already dead if you're not playing in Europe by 17.

I might be too late for a Football career.

Why don't you try a sport that requires no skill? Baseball for example.

Unfortunately for you there is no sport more competitive.

let the boy play, faggot. Ever heard of minor leagues? If he wants to spend his youth forever playing for a village of 300 people, hoping one day to make it to the 4th round where Everton will slaughter them as the highlight of his career.. well..

nothing of value was lost

could be worse, he could have been white and wanted to play in the NBA lol basketball

Fuck the haters, op. If you want to make it your career, then do it. I'd advise against ditching the shittier teams. I play in a few indoor leagues where the competition is sometimes not great. I see it as an opportunity to address my weaknesses and try new shit. ie I'm a defender, and if I'm shutting everyone down, I'll move into the midfield and start dribbling at people, doing a bunch of fucking stepovers and other things that I wouldn't try against really good competition.

Training by yourself is great, but you need to play.

Guy who wrote a TL;DR essay earlier in this post, here to say that although this guy is right for the first half, the second part of this is a FUCKING BAD IDEA. Do NOT use your games in your league to try things you would not try in the level of competition you want to be. Being able to deke out the entire special olympics' mens team won't help when you're in a higher level of play, and it sets up bad habits. Play like you normally would in a game, even if you outclass the competition- you can always adapt to the skill level of teams when you are at the level you want to be at, but adapting to the skill level of the league you're currently in is a good way of remaining in the league you're currently in. Fitness and fundamentals- these are what you require above all else. I'm not saying to never have fun in games, I'm simply saying not to pick up bad habits from facing weaker opponents- if you do this often, you'll end up treating strong teams like weaker opponents, and it just won't work. Discipline is what makes a good soccer player.

TLDR- DO continue playing on your teams
DO NOT treat them as playthings, or a chance to just play around. Treat them like legit opponents and you'll have a stronger mental game.

This is, oddly enough, the best advice of all. Nobody cares about women's sports, so if you go this route you will be on a team in no time.

Good Luck!!

This all depends on your age, if your a high school aged player, you can get into a decent collage (assuming you have good grades) just by communicating alone.

In Europe on the other hand, you dont have a stones throw chance at it if your in an adult league

OP here, should I bother taking rests between training days? Sometimes I feel pretty draining the day after a game.
