It was very..."convenient" that the PATRIOTS won the first Super Bowl following 9/11.

The fact a bullshit call helped them get there makes it even funnier.

Not exactly on topic here, but it was also bullshit that Tom Brady won MVP. Adam Vinatieri so obviously deserved it.

>2004 Red Sox Playoff run

That wasn't even close to rigged. 86 years? So what? If the Cubs go on and win it all this year, that's more of an indication of things being rigged. 100 year mark.

Besides, the Yankees suck.

Once Giants do good again next year and knock off the Cowboys, again, well see if people want to bitch out Eli some more.

I find it hard to dismiss monumental comebacks or upsets as rigs, as they are the lifeblood of team sports. Just because something doesn't stand up to conventional wisdom doesn't make it a rig. Besides, if you think about rigged games, you start thinking that everything is rigged. At that point, what's the point of watching sports?

Skinsfag here. I honestly have to say that Eli, in my opinion, is just as good if not better than Peyton. Peyton had Harrison, while Eli was stuck with subpar/decent recievers. Toomer and Burress aren't on par with Harrison at all. And Reggie Wayne is just as good as either one. So really, even though Eli looks like a retarded cow farmer, he is a good quarterback on a team that barely gave a shit until they won it all.

Please note I FUCKING HATE the Florida Panthers.

In the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals, a marginally-talented, but disciplined and hard-working, Florida Panthers beat the Flyers and Penguins and whoever the fuck else they beat in the first round, and they did it by holding the other teams' forwards on every play. I was infuriated when they did it against my Flyers, but when the Panthers did the exact same thing to the Pens, I said, oh well, I guess that's how they play NHL hockey now. They hold and interfere and obstruct and none of it is called so how could I blame the Panthers? It's the Flyers and Penguins fucking fault for not cheating as good as the Panthers did.

Yeah, well, game one of the Stanley Cup Finals against Colorado, the Panthers got called for obstruction TWICE in the first ten minutes of the game. Funny, all of a sudden, John Vanbiesbrouck didn't look like Terry Sawchuk anymore, and the Panthers played like an AHL team, and the Avs forwards skated all over Florida, just days after guys like Lindros and LeClair and Lemieux and Jagr looked like they were skating in sand in the earlier rounds.

So, in one respect, I was glad the NHL called the rules the way they were written, but they sure as hell didn't call it that way for the three rounds before the finals. So even though I think overall the Panthers can go suck a dick, it was kinda shitty for the NHL to change the rules the way they did it, when they did it, and Florida got jobbed big time.

The thing I remember about Fred Ex-Player Mitchell was what Bill Belichick said about him in Sports Illustrated after the Pats won the Super Bowl. It was something like:

"We were glad when he was out on the field, it was like playing 11 against 10. He is a terrible football player. And you can print that."

And I shit you not, FredEx's response to that (before demanding more money from the Eagles and getting cut) was:

"It takes a big man to talk after the fact."

The story as I remember it was Freddie Mitchell was jabbering before the SB about the Pats coaching staff being overrated.
