I want to know the same thing the poster in that thread wants to know: what happened to Chipper? How does someone suck in the field for most of his career and become awesome at 36?

They've got it right.

>1. Chipper Jones

This list sucks.

Scott Rolen
Defense = Godly
Offense = Shitty

Looks pretty accurate to me.

I didn't even know that Scott Rolen would make the top ten. He deserves a Gold Glove, however.

Rolen and Wigginton are surprises, but it looks good to me otherwise.

I wonder how many people are still assuming Beltre sucks?

butthurt.

I'm suprised Wright's defense is only above average. For a while, people were saying he was a defensive god at 3rd base.

Also, this list ensures me that A-Rod should have stayed at shortstop.

trolling? A-Rod should have kicked Jeter's ass to the curb when he joined the Yankees. The Yankees would be better off, Jeter would be at 2nd or CF, and be better off, and A-Rod would have been better off. A-Rod's at best is above average 3rd baseman defensively.

I was referring to Wright's "defense is only above average".

A platoon player.

Wright is so overrated because of the fact that he plays in New York. He has power, he drives in runs, but his defense is AVERAGE at best. I've watched this guy throw away so many routine grounders, let simple players hop over his glove. His arm is really fucked.

Not even trying.

3. David A Wright (62 off, 5 def, 67 tot) -- This is the second year in a row Wright was worth nearly as much as ARod. He's easily a top ten MVP candidate.

5 defense, Wright only made 5 more defensively plays over a replacement player. Thats why he's 'only' above average defensively.

>1. Chipper Jones (66 off, 15 def, 81 tot) -- With a career .310/.408/.548 line (145 OPS+) and ever-improving defense, the chances of Chipper not making the Hall of Fame seem pretty low, don't they?

I was under the impression that Chipper Jones was in the "Such a lock for the HoF that it doesn't even need to be said" zone.

Chipper's a lock for the hall. Anyone who says otherwise is underage b& by a long shot.

The best thing about baseball is how players don't immediately become shitty the minute they become 30. Chipper was my favorite player growing up and he's still awesome.

For part of the season he was. He struggled down the stretch defensively.

And last year he was good, but he did NOT deserve the Gold Glove.

That's not five plays above average, that's plus/minus you're thinking of. This is runs saved above average.

He honestly has an almost reasonable shot at deserving to be in the Hall of Fame one day.

Almost 1600 hits and 250 home runs, not yet 30 with GREAT defense at a valuable position? The odds are decent of him at least having the "pretty counting stats" case in his corner.

nah, I love the guy, but i would not go that far.
