Which team in your opinion possesses the best defense?

Now, I'm obviously a fan, but hear me out. I nominate the Pittsburgh Steelers as the top defensive squad in the league. It's not just a matter of statistics either. Pittsburgh also has enough depth to continue playing at that level through not only mid-season injuries, but also off-season losses. Top that off with one of the most creative and aggressive defense coordinators in the league, it's difficult to proclaim another defense unit head-and-shoulders superior to the Steelers'.

That's my reasoning, but which defense would /sp/ want for their team?

They have one more Int, one less Forced Fumble, and nine less Sacks than Pit.

Titans

I would say Titans.

Look at yards all you want, but Tennessee is allowing 11.2 points per game. That is the only stat that matters.

1 - 11.2 - Titans
2 - 12.3 - Giants
3 - 14.0 - Ravens
4 - 14.0 - Panthers
5 - 15.8 - Steelers

Here is reason #2 that the Titans have the best defense.

Most takeways.

1 - 12 - Titans
2 - 9 - Jets
3 - 9 - Chiefs
4 - 9 - Steelers

I enjoy that the Steelers are also in the tops of those categories.
