sup /sp/ any other Portland folks out there who have been following the blazers this year?

I must say, as a resident of Portland.. it's the first time in several years we have actually had a promising team. We've always had dirt bags like Shawn Kemp, Qyntel Woods, Rasheed Wallace and even fuckin Staudamire. But this year it's all changed, we got a lot of young guys on the court and they are getting used to the NBA. not to mention we got Brandon Roy and Oden out. I'm thinkin' that next year is going to be a good year for Portland. any other hopeful Portland fans out there?

in b4 blazers have sucked for 10 years, (I'm aware)

you did good a few years ago when you had pippen

>dirt bags
>Rasheed Wallace

does not compute

I actually have a pretty good story about Pippen. Around the local strip clubs in down town Portland I know a few of the girls that work there.. not the strippers, just the cocktail waitresses.. fuck I wish I knew the strippers... even though I'd probably get laid the same amount.. but I digress

He earned the name amongst the girls as "no tippin pippen"

pretty funny.

Portland's best year was when they faced LA for west, up 18 points up in the 4th quarter after coming back from 0-3 to 3-3 into game 7. Then as all Oregon teams do, they choked hard and lost bad. LA went on to win it. But we had good guys like Bryant Grant and a few others. last 5 years have been pitiful.

man, Rasheed Wallace is an amazing player. Got a lot of talent. But he's a fuckin' dirt bag. He got 2 technical and kicked out of the game facing LA for west division championships several years ago for.. starring down the ref repeately. I mean what the fuck? Had to get all angry-black persona on him.

or you can make it up using wikipedia

>Service personnel have singled Pippen out as a relatively poor tipper. A 1997 article in Sports Illustrated named him one of the three biggest "skinflints" in the NBA, along with Kevin Garnett and Shawn Kemp, and noted that restaurant workers at one eatery had given him the nickname "No Tippin' Pippen".[17]

Poor-t-land. Yeah, Oden will do a Bill Walton next year, and shred his knees for the following year. Such is life. Just go back to checking your street gutters for syringes your children might step upon.

HI-5!!!!

oh god don't say that haha.

Unlike walton Odn is actually trying to rehab and get himself into playing shape.

Woah, weird. Resident of PDX, first time in /sp/, thread on top of the page. Fuck yeah. For me, it's not that they've been playing better (which I think is awesome, regardless), but the new lineup has been getting into far less shenanigans. I was tired of all the bullshit. You get to play your favorite game, get paid ridiculous amounts of money, so why the fuck do you need to act like a douchebag most of the time? /rant.

WoaH!!!

I'm going to have to ask you to calm down, sir.

dude, as a lakersfag, portland is just about the only team that has me worried as a challenger to a potential resurgence of a dominant lakers team. and i'm really worried. i think oden will be anywhere from very good to amazing, roy is awesome, and aldridge is a freaking lakers killer. outlaw is solid, and jack and blake are better than their reps - especially blake, who can shoot the 3 like a champ (what was he, top 20 in the league this season, right?).

plus, because the west is so absurdly good this year, you guys get ANOTHER lottery draft pick. that team is young, good, and loaded for bear for a long time (though it's going to suck balls when all your players have their contracts come up over the same 3 years).
>> Anonymous
The Blazers are the one NBA team I see and think that they could replicate what the Spurs are doing right now. Hornets, Jazz, Magic, Raptors... all the young teams that are blossoming into powers I don't see it in. But if Oden can stay healthy, Roy and Aldridge continue to make strides, and a substantial amount of good talent comes in with later-round draft picks then you'll be set.

God damnit you asshole.. I hadn't even thought about that and now I'm worried.

The average Portland resident might make less than whereverthefuckyourefrom city. But I promise you that it's cleaner and much more beautiful. Portland has a good reputation. Don't hate.

In the next few years the top 3 is going to be Jazz, Hornets, Blazers (not in that order), just you watch

Blazers are shaping up to be the same as the Nets were in the early 00s when they went to the finals a couple years in a row.

They made some good draft choices with Martin and Jefferson, traded for Kidd, and they had a solid team before anyone even bothered to look at them.

OP here.

thing i like most about the blazers is the choices they made during the draft. I mean, for awhile we were known as the portland jailblazers... we had a lot of shady characters on our team. but, 2008, we got a lot of rookies, lot of players looking to make a name for themselves. I think we will cut back on the shenanigans and actually play some ball.
>> Anonymous
OP here.. refreshing.. dont want my blazer thread to die.. sorry.

I actually grew up in Portland (waaaay southwest near the Tigard-Portland line, where Barbur Boulevard becomes Pacific Highway), and I remember the glory days of Rip City. Clyde the Glide, Jerome Kersey, Duckworth, Buck Williams, Uncle Cliffy, Detlef Schrempf... god, what a team.

Blazers have sucked for 10 years?

2000-2004 they were the Lakers' main rival during the Shaq-Kobe era.

you, sir, describe exactly how I feel. I'm a closet Portland fan... when you got the dirtbag lineup like rasheed and kemp... i mean it's hard to say you are a fan, but when you got a lot of potential talent rookies on the court... you can't help but be excited for the team. Shenanigans earned portland the term "jailblazers" and you know... we deserve to be called that. let's hope the next few years we clean our image up and make a name for ourselves as a good team!
>> Anonymous
OP here again... on a side node... anyone else really miss Maurice Cheeks? Imagine if we had Cheeks with our current lineup... un fucking beatable.
