FACT: People only hate Crosby because he doesn't play for their team.
>> Anonymous
>>466115
This is unfair, as I am required to hate all the other members of the Atlantic division.

Be sure, I hate Crosby for being a diving faggot who is only effective on the power play.
>> Anonymous
>>466119
I'm not saying you have to love him, but surely you can be mature enough to appreciate that Crosby is basically God on skates.
>> Anonymous
>>466115

Fact, this does not apply to Capitals fans.

Fact, Crosby is a whining bitch

Fact, other NHL player's don't respect Crosby

Fact, Crosby was given a C too early

Fact, Crosby was asked to join the Canadian diving team for the 08 olympics.

Fact, Crosby relies on secondary assists

Fact, Malkin is a better player

Fact, PenFags love Crosby despite how much of an obvious fucknut he is.

I hate Crosby because "everyone" compares him to The Great One. He is nothing like Gretzky nor will he ever be as good, but "everyone" thinks he will be.

OK, I'll give you that
>Fact, Crosby is a whining bitch
Not true
>Fact, other NHL player's don't respect Crosby
Proof?
>Fact, Crosby was given a C too early
I'll half agree with you on that
>Fact, Crosby was asked to join the Canadian diving team for the 08 olympics.
lol
>Fact, Crosby relies on secondary assists
Not true
>Fact, Malkin is a better player
Better at turning the puck over maybe
>Fact, PenFags love Crosby despite how much of an obvious fucknut he is.
So obnoxious that he doesn't skate around like smacktard every time he gets a goal.
>> Anonymous
>>466126appreciate that Crosby is basically God on skates
God can backcheck.

>>466131He is nothing like Gretzky
Too be fair, he whines to the referees like Gretzky
>> Anonymous
I don't hate Crosby, he's a great player. I just hate that the NHL forces him down our throats and tries to compare him to the Great One when Ovechkin is a more exciting player to watch.

Crosby = Great player who will ultimately be like Ron Francis. Lots of points, Cup or two, break assist records
Ovechkin = Exciting player, changing the role of the power forward, Cup or two, break goal scoring records.

Crosby is epic and then some.
Stats speak for themselves. Totes would have won the Art Ross again last season if he didnt get injured.
PLUS, MVP of the playoffs except for maybe Franzen

Crosby owns and people are jealous that he rapes their team (nyr fan here btw)
>> Anonymous
To be fair, you can't compare Crosby and Gretzky in stats, the games just aren't as high-scoring anymore.
>> Anonymous
>>466149
>Totes would have won the Art Ross again last season if he didnt get injured.

That's like saying Maurice Richard would have won the Art Ross last season if he wasn't dead.
>> Anonymous

Well... he probsbly would have
>> Anonymous
>>466156
and how, exactly, can that be predicted, let alone proved?
>> Anonymous
>>466149nyr fan here btw

Obviously, since even the Pens fairweather shithead fanbase realized it was Fleury who dragged that team kicking and screaming into the Finals.
>> Anonymous
because he won it the year before and when he was injured he was on the most points and the best points per game average.
>> Anonymous
>>466159
Woah, hold up there just a second.

I'm a Pensfag and I wholeheartedly disagree. Conklin is 10 times the goaltender Fleury ever was. MAF played ONE excellent game against the Wings, and he did sweet fuck all to get us there.

Conklin and Malkin are what got us to the playoffs last year, no question about it.

And don't even get me started on the ASSGOAL that cost us the Cup.
>> Anonymous
>>466161
TOLD!
>> Anonymous
Malkin and Conks got the pens to the playoffs, Crosby got them to the SCF.

Props to Malkin for taking charge while Crosby was out but he did shit all in the playoffs. Couldn't get a point. Polar opposite of his regular season play.

Conks took them there, he deserved to be the first goalie for the playoffs
>> Anonymous
>>466161
>>466165
same delusional faggot

A) Winning the Art Ross one year does not guarantee it the next unless you are named Jagr, Gretzky, Esposito, or Howe

B) Crosby finished with 1.36 points per game. Over 82 games (what Ovechkin played) he still would have finished a point behind Ovechkin
>> Anonymous
Finished with 1.36

He was brought back from injury too quickly and had shit all ice time for a while.

When he was injured he had a superior points per game average.

Ovechkin is a better goal scorer easily, but Crosby is clearly a more valuable player.

Ovechkin- best goal scorer (quite clearly - ill give u that)
Crosby- best point scorer (fact)
Semin- in form player

lol, oh, you would be surprised my friend
>> Anonymous
>>466177
Yes, between the two of us, *I'm* the ignorant one.

Explain to me which one of us has numbers on their side and which one is making indefensible claims of what Crosby could have been able to do?

Face it. The only way Crosby gets points at even-strength is because he moves the puck up ice to the two players that actually score.
>> Anonymous
>>466178Crosby- best point scorer (fact)
Crosby has an incredibly low +/- for his assi-uhm, I mean "points".

He's a power-play specialist first and foremost.
>> Anonymous
>>466182
Protip: I'm not the samefag you think I am.
>> Anonymous
Something wrong with that?
Goals arent scored unless someone assists...
What's wrong with being a Power play specialist? He's fucking awesome power play or even strength and he gets like 1 goal for every 2 assists. not a bad return mate
>> Anonymous
>Goals arent scored unless someone assists...

Okay, I'll let you think about that one a little more.

>What's wrong with being a Power play specialist?

Nothing, but when it's all he can do, he's far from the "best scorer" when in fact he's incredibly situational *and* being outscored by a drunk Ruskie in DC that does everything Crosby can't.
>> Anonymous
>>466187

Crosby has never won the Conn Smythe Trophy.

they're not going to give it to someone on the losing team you tard

Crosby and Zetters had the same amount of points in the playoffs, but Zetterberg played 2 more games.

Zetterberg had Franzen and Datsyuk to help him kick ass in Detroit, whereas Crosby didnt have anyone of note to help him in Pittsburgh... Malkin played so fucking shit in the playoffs.
>> Anonymous
i grew up in cole harbour i know were he used to live XD
>> Anonymous
>>466187

how about we insert some stats up in this bitch.

even-strength points per game since the lockout
Thornton 0.77
Ovechkin 0.75
Spezza 0.73
Crosby 0.73

where's the big difference?

And: Thortsie and Spezza both have had better linemates than Sid and Ov, which helps their ES numbers. when a playmaker like Crosby plays with crap like Recchi, Malone and Armstrong at ES and then with Malkin and Gonchar on the PP, of course he's going to seem like some specialist to ignorant tunnel visionists.

Crosby has also been a pretty fine defensive player starting last playoffs. he got better at it already in the reg season but it has been really noticeable since April.
>> Anonymous
>>466208
Giguere, Hextall, Leach, Hall, Crozier

All Conn Smyth winners from the runner-ups

Crosby was not the play-off mvp last year

lol 4 Conn Smythe winners in runner up teams in 44 years, yeah... you convinced me. Crosby must be shit if he couldnt win the Conn Smythe in a losing team despite getting the same amount of points as the winner in even less games.

Maybe my claim of MVP is opinion, but fact is, highest points per game scored in last seasons play offs.

I'm not that lamist, I'm the stats guy. overall, Crosby wasn't that much better than Malkin, Hossa and Fleury and they also lost so no way should he have won. 'best player in the playoffs' award maybe
>> Anonymous
>>466213
2005-2006 - 52% of Crosby's points were even-strength
2006-2007 - 49%
2007-2008 - 61%
2008-2009 - 46%

Barring one year, Crosby is racking up his points on the Power Play. Nice try at attempting to mask that with misleading numbers.

>>466216
You really can't mock someone after claiming Crosby was last years' playoff MVP

>>466223

>>466226
powerplay points count. oh yes. I just explained the talent difference of the guys he played with ES and PP as well.

if it's so easy, everyone would rack up PP points. or maybe the others just play fair game and choose not to score them, I don't know.
>> Anonymous
>>466229
So first we have a retarded Crosby fanboy making erroneous claims as FACTS (in ALL CAPS)

And now a stats-guy that pusses out after being confronted with stats that contradict him.
>> Anonymous
>>466226
Also, Crosby averages over five minutes powerplay time on ice and around twenty minutes total time on ice.

Oddly enough, last years' Canadiens and Flyers teams had one player combined that averaged over five minutes power play time.

contradict...how? Because he's the best scorer on the powerplay and one of the best even strength?

Why have him when we have Blake Wheeler, Patrice Bergeron, and Milan Lucic?
>> Anonymous
>>466319
Bruinsfag here, Bergeron is arguably the only B that could match up to Crosby.

He doesn't have quite the offensive skills, but Bergeron is like a Selke candidate who can pass, rush and shoot with the best of them

>>466330

I'm also talking about attitude too. I'd much rather play on a line with one of those three than that dick Crosby.

>> Anonymous
>>466245
Because you're claiming he's a prolific even strength player based on volume. He's scoring 50% of his points on 25% of his ice time. HIs performance directly correlates to whether or not the officials are calling the game tight.
>> Anonymous
>>466361
Equal scoring in the World Championship gives my argument a little strength.

Bergeron isn't as prolific, but you can't say that Crosby is anywhere near as talented defensively.

Its the NHL's abortion of a marketing strategy.
None of the guys in the NHL are really marketable personalities. All the Americans aren't good enough to be icons and all the foreigners have no personality.
>> Anonymous
>>467604all the foreigners have no personality

Ovechkin's goal celebrations lead me to believe otherwise. The reason he isn't marketed is because America is still worried about the Red Scare.

And remember when everyone got butthurt when Semin called out Crosby?
>> Anonymous
>>467570

They did well tonight. I was not enthused about the game given how well the Oilers were doing in the 1st, but the Leafs really pulled it out to finish a 5-2.

What I really hate is how unpredictable they are. Okay yeah, 5-2 v the Rangers, but then get trounced for a week straight? What the fuck guys, clearly you have the potential to be a good team, but whether you actually capitalize on it depends on whether Jupiter and Pluto have lined up properly or not.
