I've been a fan of the Green Bay Brett Favre's for 14 years and now that they are just Green Bay I realized how lame that team is. Damn it /sp/ which team should I cheer for?

Teams I'm thinking of cheering for are the Browns, Vikings and Bills. Teams I'm defiantly not cheering for are the Patriots, Cowboys, and Packers.

The Bills are a mediocre franchise. They have a rabid, loyal fanbase but the organization is only okay and they are in one of the smallest markets in the league.

The Vikings are in a bad situation and have made overtures to leaving Minnesota. Other than that, they will at least always be interesting. Of the three teams you picked they are probably the best bet for future success (although certainly not a sure bet).

The current Browns are an expansion team (which is easy to forget because they inherited the records and history of the old Browns), so they are a complete wildcard. Who knows, in ten years they might rip off a string of five straight Super Bowls. Or, they might suck forever. Y'know, like the old Browns.

He doesn't play in goal-line situations, and even then the play call is still a toss-up between Davenport, Roethlisberger, Ward, and Miller.

>and his YPC is pitiful
His 4.1 ypc was just slightly below average relative the top rushers in the league (which I believe was approx. 4.3 ypc). Look at the very numbers you throw about so readily

>Big Ben carries the offense.
Because Bruce Arians insisted on showcasing Ben's arm even in situations where it was completely unwarranted. Only the ignorant blame the O-line for every sack Roethlisberger took. Big Ben lets his eyes wander downfield for far too long. He is not that great a quarterback to consider his decision making infallible. Yes, he has proven to be athletic enough to avoid taking sacks, but it's become a habit that he puts himself in those situations looking for the big play instead of scrambling for easy yardage.

I can't be a Steelers fan because what I said is completely true? Can you even keep your pointless insults consistant?

For a back that's "trash" his numbers are more than comparable to the non-"trash" backs in the league. What can you even say to the numbers I've shown you? Will you claim they're inflated by big runs? If I'm not mistaken, Parker didn't even manage very many of them last year, but he still average over four yards every time he touched the ball. Do you realize that means, no matter how bad he screws up one play, Parker more than broke even on another?

You can call him "over-rated" all you want. It's a matter of opinion. Personally, I've never heard any national broadcast go on and on about Parker, at least not the way they had for, let's say, Randel-El when he wore black and gold. But to slander him repeatedly for doing as well as any other back in the league? You must realize how stupid that makes you sound.

Your point is that Ben's arm was the downfall of the team. The reality is that he was the only reason they even MADE the playoffs last year.

>For a back that's "trash" his numbers are more than comparable to the non-"trash" backs in the league.

No they aren't.

>If I'm not mistaken, Parker didn't even manage very many of them last year, but he still average over four yards every time he touched the ball.

You are absolutely right, the back that everyone hails as able to "break open the game at any time" didn't have a single run over 32 yards.

So he can't run up the middle and he can't break off a long run.

>he still average over four yards every time he touched the ball.

4.1 YPC is PITIFULLY mediocre. MEDICORE IS NOT GOOD. This is why the team drafted a REAL BACK with TALENT in the first round.

It's not rocket science. Parker had one good season when he platooned with Bettis, he was pathetic in the playoffs except for ONE RUN in Super Bowl XL and he will continue to be pathetic.

I'd say he should be a third down back except for the fact he can't block for shit.

He sucks.

Arizona Cardinals, duh. and if they blow this year, double down.
>> Myron Cope's Dancing Corpse !MRu72sLc9I
>>214134Your point is that Ben's arm was the downfall of the team

I never said that. I dare you to find anywhere in my posts where I've said that. What I did say and imply was that Roethlisberger's growing ego has affected his decision making for the negative. Does this hamper the team? Certainly. That attitude lead to even more sacks than the offensive line was already giving up. Did I say that he was the Brutus to Rooney's Caesar? No.

And, for the record, the downfall of the team was the defense's inability to cope with Jacksonville's offensive line.

>No they aren't.
>4.1 YPC is PITIFULLY mediocre
The NFL stats say otherwise. You cannot provide a counterpoint to this. Please stop insisting you are correct when reality itself shows otherwise.

>the back that everyone hails as able to "break open the game at any time"
No one says this. Commentators acknowledge Parker's speed, but they do not gush over him as Second Coming of Sanders. Parker does not break tackles, and there is no one affiliated with the NFL claiming he does. League-wide he is known as a "speed back" and nothing more. When his offensive line is run-blocking well, he produces. When the offensive line is not run-blocking well, he struggles. What back doesn't?

As for next season, if the Steelers o-line will determine how well Parker does. Pittsburgh has one Hell of a schedule upcoming. If they aren't in the top form a Super Bowl contending team is expect to have, Parker is guaranteed to struggle. Again, what back wouldn't struggle in a similar situation?

Yet, we still see your glorious argument hinging on comparing backs with 100-200 attempts to backs with 200-300 attempts. That's quite a discrepancy.

You keep calling it water, but it looks like piss to me.

Taking a look at that little list some more, Parker was third in total attempts which no one is arguing was obscenely high. But that's Steeler football. Anywho, Portis and James, who had more attempts, averaged less yards per carry than Parker. I guess they must be really, really overrated if they average less than Parker. Looking through the top twenty or so, only Tomlinson, Westbrook, and Peterson average significantly better than Parker's 4.1 which is understandable, they are the best running backs in the league. I'll mention Taylor separately (5.4) since I honestly wouldn't mention him in the same breathe as "those other three". Other than that, I see Jamal Lewis' 4.4. Is that enough to be not overrated?

So, I guess the List of Overrated backs goes: Parker, Jones, White, McGahee, Lynch, Addai, Gore, Foster, Jackson, Dunn, Alexander

I'm not thirsty. What of you?

I think I understand the problem. You think that because parker was uselessly stuffed for nearly every first and second down that makes him a "good" running back. "Good" for you means that he is adequate to get the job done.

By your definition, every NFL running back is "good".

Parker sucks and he won't be the starter by week 17.

I guarantee it.

Fast Willie Parker was never meant to be the every-down back. His proper role is somewhere between that and what Reggie Bush is.

Also, the fact that Pittsburgh's air attack has disappeared probably hasn't helped matters much with the ground game.

>>214239parker was uselessly stuffed for nearly every first and second down

And yet he still managed 1316 yards with a 4.1 average and no runs of 40+ yards? It's like you're lying to me or something.
>> Anonymous
Why does he suck for getting so many carries? The more carries you get, the harder it gets to keep that YPC average up. It's pretty impressive to me that he did that without a 40+ run, though I do worry that they'll either A: Keep giving him that many carries, or B. He'll be so burnt out. Kinda like what happened to Rudi Johnson a few years back.

/cle/fag here who hates Willie Paker cause he continuously rips of 35 yarders.

I hate him cause he is pretty damn good, just when I think
he is overrated he proves me wrong.

BTW, OP wtf is you problem? You are not a Packers fan cause Favre is not there anymore?

Your not even a real fan, gtfo.
>> Sneak !!+y8MDiWrdyT
Hey guys, this may be a crazy thought, but I think they drafted a RB in the first round so that Parker doesn't have to carry the ball 25-30 times a game. Just saying.

Jesus. CP's post are so annoying, how many times do you REALLY have to use 'hahaha oh wow!!!!' in one thread?

Most people who use the holier than thou approach try to do it intelligently, not mix it with extreme obnoxiousness.

I want to cheer for Aaron Rodgers, I wanted the 49ers to take Rodgers instead of Alex Smith back in the 05 draft.
