Rays:2008 :: Rockies:2007 Anonymous
Hey Raysfags:

How does it make you feel to know that your team is this year's version of the Colorado Rockies? You are a 90s expansion team, got hot at the right time of the year, beat teams in your own league that were better than you but unlucky, you attracted a shitload of bandwagon fans in your baseball-apathetic home city for one series, in which you were promptly beat into submission by a better team. The Rockies finished below .500 in third place and are going to trade Matt Holiday. My prediction is the Rays will compete with the Blue Jays and Yankees for second and third in the AL East, and will probably have to trade one of their young stars because they can't make payroll the next season.

You misspelled Red Sox.

When did the Rockies win a game against Boston?
>> Sneak !!+y8MDiWrdyT
Here's the flaw in your logic: the Rays actually won a game.

>>435436
The Blue Jays really? They are losing Burnett and Marcum won't be back for sometime.

>>435445
And that means absolutely nothing if you don't win the World Series.

>>got hot at the right time of the year

Yeah, fucking right, troll

I said for second and third. Red Sox are a shoe-in for 1st next year, imo.

1 Win > 0 Win

Rays won't be able to afford their team next year, definitely not they year after. Baldelli will go to the Red Sox, could be a decent fourth OF, Crawford will go to the NL to cash in, and Shields and/or Kazmir will be traded like Hudson and Mulder were.

>Baldelli will go to the Red Sox

Come home Rocco.

but the 2007 Sox >>>>>> the 2008 Phillies

it would have been over if they played each other

Absolutely, 100% incorrect. Mark my words dumbass.

>>435470
That's quite an achievement, I wonder where in the history books that will go.
>> Anonymous
>>435477
Damnit I lol'd.
>> Anonymous
>>435471

That would be true, except for the fact that much of their current payroll is under contract for the next 3 seasons. They're not going anywhere unless traded.

Dude Tampa was hot all year. Colorado had to win 30000 games in a row to make the playoffs. There's no comparison.

I agree with the other anons about Rocco. He will take a hometown discount to play in the Nation, and the Rays will probably dismantle a decent chunk of this year's team like their Florida counterparts always do when they make it to the series.

Tampa got lucky at the right time, and took advantage of injuries and bad umpiring, but they just aren't talented enough.

Real Red Sox fan here:

The ONLY thing in this thread that's true is Rocco will most likely play for Boston next season.

Red Sox shoe it for 1st? Shut the fuck up.

Ray's roster changing and dismantes? Get the fuck out.

Rays won't be able to pay up for the arbitration; they barely sold out the playoffs. Their GM is smart, he'll get prospects for the players they have who are at their peak now.

Name some, go ahead try. Kazmir and Longoria are already signed "rather cheap" for a number of years.

Pena, Hinske, Iwamura, etc

Way to prove that you know almost nothing about the Rays.

Pena was signed to a huge contact as was Iwamura. Hinske is a free agent after this season.

Care to try again?

Rays barely sold out the playoffs? Every game sold out within an hour of opening the presale. 450,000 people registered for tickets. The two World Series games sold out in nine minutes.

As for the Rays not affording players, the only player even eligible for arbitration next year is Jason Bartlett. Shields is signed through 2014, Longoria through 2016, Kazmir through 2012. Garza is ARB1 in 2011. Pena signed through 2010. Iwamura too. Crawford signed through 2010.

Yet another faggot also proves he knows nothing about the Rays.

I fucking hate the Rays. They just proved to Tom Hicks that you can get to the World Series without spending money. Fuck you Rays. I guess the same thing can be said about the Phillies too. Plus, fuck Filthadelphia anyways, trashy m'udda fucka's up in d'er bra.

But yeah, the real point of my post is a big fuck you to Tom Hicks.
