Youk-3rd
Lowrie-Short
Kotsay-1st

fix'd

I know Casey is a veteran but Kotsay has been playing a lot more recently and I trust him more to get a hit or two than Casey.

CF- Ellsbury
2B - Pedroia
DH - Ortiz
3B - Youkilis
RF - Drew
LF - Bay
SS - Lowrie
1B - Kotsay
C - Varitek

There's the lineup.

The Rays had a great season, you can't take that away from them.

But the Red Sox team was built to win in October, and once everyone in that lineup gets going, they're going to be very, very hard to beat.

red sox are banged up. if they meet the rays in the ALCS i think the rays can out muscle them. the only way i can see the red sox taking that series is if they pull a 2001 WS Yankees but actually win that 7th game.

>> MATT CASSEL !!ZIZEM+9e4u8

durr hurr

Of COURSE a Boston lineup is more potent with Manny in it, but the team as a whole was suffering because he was dogging it and hurting the team. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot, a bandwagoner, or MMB.
>> Anonymous !!35pjJ34t/2v
>>386462

Oh, I'm definitely willing to admit that the lineup was much more dangerous with Manny in it. While Bay is good, he's not the "strikes fear in the hearts of pitchers" presence at the plate that Manny was.

However, I think that this Sox team is still good enough to go all the way. It'll be a tough fight with Tampa Bay in the ALCS (assuming the Red Sox close out the ALDS against the Angels, and the Rays don't blow their lead), and honestly I think that the Sox and Rays are too evenly matched to really pick a winner.
>> Anonymous
>>386475

THE CUBS SCORED SO MANY RUNS MORE THAN THE DODGERS. OF COURSE THE CUBS ARE A BETTER OFFENSIVE TEAM.

Your lineup is weaker without Manny. Ortiz sucks, Bay's is returning to earth, and J.D. Drew and Mike Lowell are too banged up and sucking too much dick in order to be effective day in and day out. Holy shit you're replying on Coco Crisp to play center field.

Read "once everybody on that team gets going"
V-tek needs to find some consistency on the plate, Lowell needs to return to pre-injury form, Ortiz needs to start hitting, and Pedroia needs to show us the performance that got everyone shouting "MVP"

ALDS will be won, its the ALCS that'll be the thoughy, but Red Sox will still do it in 6

Are you an idiot? We're not stupid here, we know how potent Manny is, especially in October. Without him we lose a HUGE bat in the lineup, and now there's no one to protect Ortiz, who's going to see WALK WALK WALK now for the rest of his career. Of course people are going to want to pitch to Youkilis instead of Ortiz.

Originally I had Boston in 7, but I've been wrong about absolutely everything else (Rays sweep, Cubs sweep, Brewers in 5, changing my mind yesterday to say Chicago would win today) so I've probably effectively doomed Boston to get swept.

Dunno why you say "youthful mistake" when it was Pedroia and Ellsbury that stepped up most of all on the 07 World series team. I reckon it was Becket's lingering injury that lost the game for us last night.

If the Sox hadn't been crippled with critical injuries late in the regular season then we'd have won it in 3.

Diamondbacks. I'm supporting the Rays because they're a young franchise that went from worst to first and are still the underdog. More than that, I just want the bandwagon teams out of the playoffs. How the fuck do you think the Dodgers are a bunch of bandwagoners? In L.A., those are the fucking Lakers. BOSTON – If the Red Sox advance to the World Series for a second straight time and third time in five seasons, they’ll do so without Mike Lowell.

The veteran third baseman, MVP of the World Series when the Red Sox swept the Colorado Rockies in 2007, was dropped from the team’s American League Division Series roster prior to Game 4 Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels. Because the roster move was made in midseries, Lowell will be ineligible to play in the AL Championship Series if the Red Sox advance

ov=yhoo&type=lgns

Well, that takes care of that.
>> Anonymous
The Red Sox filled Lowell’s roster spot with Gil Velazquez, who spent the season at Triple-A Pawtucket before being activated Sept. 25 and making his big league debut. He has a total of eight big league at-bats, with one hit, but because he can play all four infield positions and also has played left field, the Red Sox opted for his versatility.
