Sox are taking the Rays to 5.

They won't win, because Javier Vazquez, but they'll take the Rays to 5.

lolno. If they win Game 3 against (IIRC) Garza they'll be lucky enough as is. Shields would then be available if necessary.

4 or sweep.

I think we take one more at home before going out, Rays like the Twins are less effective without turf to bounce the ball off of and let it roll forever, and we always play better at home. Still holding out hope that we'll go farther but we didn't have much business being in the playoffs anyway.

Really I'm just glad to win the fucking division after being in first for so long and then blowing it. I'd love to see Griffey and Thome win but we have some good young talent in Quentin and Ramirez, Danks and Floyd, and if someone can just convince Ozzie to pull pitches after they walk the bases loaded with no outs but BEFORE they give up that home run to the next batter we'll be a hell of a team next year.

I kind of hope our last game is at home, want the good guys to go out to cheers. See you on opening day, Sox.

"The Black Sox Scandal refers to a number of events that took place around and during the play of the 1919 World Series. The name "Black Sox" also refers to the Chicago White Sox team from that year. Eight members of the Chicago franchise were banned from baseball for throwing (intentionally losing) games, giving the victory to the Cincinnati Reds.

Stories of the Black Sox scandal have usually included Comiskey in its gallery of subsidiary villains, focusing in particular on his intentions regarding a clause in Cicotte's contract that would have paid Cicotte an additional $10,000 bonus for winning 30 games. According to Eliot Asinof's account of the events, Eight Men Out, Cicotte was "rested" for the season's final two weeks after reaching his 29th win, presumably to deny him the bonus. However, the record is perhaps more complex. Cicotte won his 29th game on September 19, had an ineffective start on September 24, and was pulled after a few innings in a tuneup on the season's final day, September 28 (the World Series beginning 3 days later). Reportedly, Cicotte agreed to the fix on the same day he won his 29th game, before he could have known of any efforts to deny him a chance to win his 30th.[1]"

At least the Cubs aren't fucking throwing world series just for a fucking pay off.
