NFL vs NCAA? Anonymous
Here's a question for you sportsfans, that I have been arguing with friends for a while now. What if you took the worst team in the NFL, and put them against the best team in NCAA? What would happen?
>> Anonymous
KC isn't the worst team in the NFL, and USC isn't the best team in the NCAA.

If you matched St. Louis against Georgia, which is the appropriate best v. worst matchup, St. Louis would beat the shit out of Georgia.
>> Anonymous
nfl team wins. all the players, coaches, and staff spend about 300% more time scouting and preparing for the other team. an ncaa team might be athletically talented, but an nfl team is made up of all the best ncaa players anyway, and they've all been playing much, much, better, smarter, faster football for many years longer.
>> Anonymous
The NFL team would win hands down. There is simply too much talent on an NFL team, the speed of the game between college and pro is so vast, thats why there is such a steep learning curve in the pros.

grown ass men against a bunch of kids....

I actually said the other day that Mizzou was probably the best football team in Missouri. Rams suck and Chiefs are god awful.
>> Anonymous
>>341503
For their competitive level this is true. However, across all levels Mizzou is not even close to KC/StL
>> Anonymous
>>341505
Have you seen the Chiefs play?
>> Anonymous
>>341518
In the NFL, yes. If they played the top 5 NCAA teams, they'd go 5-0.
>> Anonymous
A great NCAA team only has a handful of players that are NFL Caliber and probably only a few that would start rookie year and maybe one that would have an immediate positive impact, even on a shitty team.

So are you asking if a team full of horribly inept players in nearly every position could beat a team full of professionals that have proven themselves and most likely match up in 95% of all positions better than their bitch counterparts?

Hell, you take the worst team in the NFL this year and put them up against the NCAA's All American team, they'd still win, but it might be close. Do people really forget how unprepared and unplayable 99% of all rookies are?
>> Kilgamayan !2BklmILFiE
NFL teams are made up entirely of players that fall into one of three categories:

- College superstars
- Good enough in college to be drafted
- Good enough in the NFL to be used despite going undrafted

Each NFL team is, for all intents and purposes, 53 draftees, including a whole bunch of first rounders. I'm pretty sure the record for most selections in a draft for one school isn't even 20 (I think it's 14 but I'm too lazy to look it up). The NFL team would completely squash the college team.
>> Anonymous
Consider how many players from a team get drafted, if the team is good, perhaps 7-8. Consider how many of those players start that next year, rarely more than three. How many perform at the level of a pro bowler? Zero to one.
Consider great college coaches like Spurrier, Carrol, Saban, Petrino, etc. who flopped or could barely tread water at the next level. Blowout, pure and simple.
>> Anonymous
I can in all good consciousness say that even the third string of the worst team in the NFL would be BCS champs each year. Hell, your average scout team player is better than your average NCAA player.
>> Anonymous
NFL wins 99.9% of the time. Maybe a college all star team could come close, but not likely.

Yes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_All-Star_Game

The results of these games I don't think would be relevant to the modern game, though. Plus, as an exhibition I bet the pros took it easy.

USC vs Chiefs

USC wins every time.
>> Anonymous
the NFL would win because every player in the NFL was a good player in college, only the best college players make it to the NFL and probably 75% of the players on that USC team are not NFL caliber players.
the NFL team would destroy the NCAA team.
>> Anonymous
>>341591
This sounds like it would be a lot of fun. I'm sad they don't do it anymore.
>> Anonymous
>>341595
With the money pumped into the draft, no way would any team want players they were scouting to get into an exhibition game and blow out a knee.
>> Anonymous
NFL players are more discipline.
Plus the option plays which a lot of NCAA teams run wouldn't work well in the NFL. Vick had them work a few times at first, but AFAIK it stopped working as the season went on.

NFL team at the very least 70
NCAA team at the very best 3

No O or D Line at the college level could compete with the very worst of lines at the NFL level, he who controls the line controls the universe!!!

lol some guy said georgia is the best team in college.
Inb4 almost lost to south carolina/usc kicked the crap out of number 5 team.

Definitely better than USC, myself I'm thinking Oklahomo is the best

Ohio state is a joke, only an ignorant NUB would thump their chest over beating them

NFL Team would crush the college team, I mean literally bones would be breaking, I know it seems like runningbacks and linemen come in and can play immediately but that's only because they have veterans around them. Only thing that could save the college team is a nonstop vertical game. Imagine Hawaii vs. Georgia and how that turned out
>> Anonymous
>>341651Only thing that could save the college team is a nonstop vertical game.

Which wouldn't happen because even the best college-level o-line couldn't handle even the d-line of a 34 defense long enough for the recievers to break coverage.
>> Anonymous
This has to be the stupidest thread I have ever seen. Even the Dolphins would rape USC by 65.
>> Anonymous
the best ncaa team should play the worst nfl team the week before the superbowl. this would be pure win, but it will never happen

i also think it should be called raep-bowl
>> Anonymous
this happens every year, and it's always the same answer: The NFL team would have their way with the college team, until the students begged for mercy

even the bush/leinart USC team wouldn't score a single FG against the '07 dolphins. NFL teams are too fucking stacked. an all-american NCAA team would still get crushed

no contest

you think the quarterback option works in the nfl?

the 07 dolphins defense would shut down that USC team. taylor, porter, thomas. good luck

The NBA is a different animal entirely, since it's much less physical and a lot less planning/strategy goes into the average NBA game compared to the average NFL game. Plus some college kid could get hot and hit 15 3's in a game and carry the college team on his back, in the NFL this could never happen because it's the ultimate team game.
>> Anonymous
Jayhawks would still get pummeled by the Knicks.

also the talent gap is WIIIIIIDE.

90% of NFL players were outstanding stars for their respective college teams. No matter how talented or deep the best teams in college are, they are never as deep as an NFL teams. Even the tomato cans.

Another reason eggtoss sucks: their season is 16 games long. Can't expect fat fucking niggers to maintain their concentration/stay out of jail for any longer, I suppose.
>> Anonymous
The college team would get destroyed.
>>342030
So, they weren't that good in college. Even the most theoretically talented of NCAA players haven't been exposed to the level of play of the NFL or the amount of conditioning and training an NFL player goes through.
>> Anonymous
>>342087

this is because the nfl season takes a much harder toll on athletes bodies than jogging for 90 minutes a game and pretending to fall over and hurt yourself to draw penalties.

real injuries > falling over with an anguished look on your face and grabbing your leg when you're hit with a stiff breeze
>> Anonymous
>>342153
Real injuries = being carried off the field and not playing again for several weeks or needing surgery before you can play again.
>> Anonymous
>>342153
Now that is complete bullshit. Soccer players cover on average well over 10km per match, running more or less non-stop for 90 minutes with only a 10 minute respite. And they do this at least once a week for 40 weeks, no tincluding cup competitions and international duty plus pre-season.

Eggchasers on the other hand spend 3 hours standing around, with the occasional 20 second burst of movement and then run into some other play, all the while padded up to the ninth. They do this 17 times per year, at most.

cool story bro
>> Anonymous
>>342166
"It is 380 miles by road from Liverpool to Inverness, and by air from Liverpool to Paris, about as far as 15 marathons. What’s this got to do with football? Nothing, really, except it might help us get our heads round an athlete such as Steven Gerrard. Those 380 miles are roughly the distance Gerrard covered last season while playing for club and country, a 10th of it at sprinting speed or close."
>> Anonymous
>>342164

they run alot. big fuckin deal. guess what? watching people run 10km is fucking boring. watching people run 10km and pretend that someone knocked them over because it's considered legitimate strategy is boring and lame.

padding is for when an angry 245lb nigger that runs a 4.6ish 40 yd dash runs into you at full speed with his helmet down.

again, they play a short season because when they get hurt they're not pretending and generally it takes awhile for them to rehab to where they're strong enough to play.
>> Anonymous
>>342177
Well ok then, enjoy watching fat niggers running head first at each other. Seems kind of gay though...
>> Anonymous
>>342188
you know what seems gay is all that shit Ronaldo and other players smear in their hair before a match tp then watch them sweat it off

what the fuck is up with that

>> Anonymous
>>342188

protip: generally only the o-line and d-tackles are fat. the rest of em are just tall and strong.

you're right though. it's totally gay to try to hit someone as hard as you can with the intention of hurting them. if anyone needs me i'll be on the soccer field with all the straight guys practicing my falling over and perfecting my "i'm in a lot of pain even though that fall was obviously fake" face.

>>342127

Yea, totally understand what you mean, but the 2007 Dolphins at there worst (I am talking after all the injuries and the 4 string guys starting) I think are the less talented team. I think the Canes would of taken them.

Btw, I am a Canefag and a Dolfan so I saw both teams a shit load.
>> Anonymous

>> Anonymous
>>342244
I also caught a lot of the Canes and Dolphins last year, and the Dolphins would still crush the Canes. The NFL is a completely different level from college, every single player on an NFL roster is a college superstar.

Now the NBA, that one is slightly more fair. The best team in NCAA vs the worst in basketball will have a very slight chance to actually pull out a victory, as raw individual talent can actually make a big difference on an entire game. Chances are the superior discipline and experience would still crush the college team however.
>> Anonymous
please, please do not be stupid

the NFL and college football games are so different from each other

there is absolutely no contest at all

the worst shit sucking NFL team would absolutely destroy the very best that college football has to offer, every single time

it's apples and oranges

>> Anonymous
>>342313
I'll have to agree. You also have to remember that the NFL is the cream of the crop of talent from the NCAA.

NFL's worst team > Best NCAA team
>> Anonymous
To answer the comment about the short season from earlier, the biggest reason why there are so few games during an NFL season is money. When you think about moving a full roster of players, all the coaches, equipment crew, medical staff, office officials, gear, etc etc etc. it really starts to add up. After the next big innovation in travel, which I hope comes sooner rather then later, I imagine the number of NFL games will increase accordingly.
>> Anonymous
>>342316
They have to be, those guys have to be able to move fucking boulders 30-60 times a game.

NCAA = Just got out of high school. Walking around like the fucking FIST OF THE NORTH STAR

NFL: Grown men with experience who know how to snap the spine of a n00b no matter how shitty they're team is.
>> SSG Posted Here
It would depend on two things:
1. Is it being played at the college teams stadium, the pro teams stadium, or a neutral site?
2. Is the pro team getting paid to do this, or is this for a charity, or is it something they have to do for free? How about with the college team?

Reguardless, 99% of the time the pro team would win. Only way it could be otherwise is if the college is motivated, the pro team isn't motivated, and the game is being played at the college teams home field. The odds of all three being true are slim to none.....
