I don't get this whole spygate scandal. I know he was spying before, but they finally caught the organization spying on the Jets.....

Did you hear what I just said?

yes.

why the fuck is the commisioner taking so long to meet with matt walsh? he can't be that busy after the draft.

Post-Draft stuff always takes forever to wrap up.

Walsh apparently made some outrageous demands the NFL initially didn't want to meet. I believe he wanted to be indemnified against both state prosecution in Massachusetts for tapes he recorded and any libel charges from a specific NFL franchise (the Pats), which puts the league on the hook for (a) potentially quite a legal bill and (b) has the potential to associate the NFL's name with a criminal court case.

So that's why its taken a while. There's obviously been a lot of arm-twisting going back and forth between the NFL, the Pats, and Walsh.

I'm betting Walsh is making all that shit up about taping the Rams' SB practice because he's an attention whore.

I'm this fag again. I forgot to mention that the conspiracy theory behind this whole Spygate deal is that its Comcast's way to discredit the league (and thereby its nascent network) in the eyes of fans and of Congress. Thus the involvement of Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Spector, from Comcast's home state, and the exaggeration of this instance of cheating in the press.

At base, its a simple rule violation; yet its been blown up to be the NFL's version of the baseball steroid scandal. Not even Tim Donaghy generated this much press, and he substantially altered the outcome of NBA games.

my thing was just they supposedly came to an agreement, and if what walsh has is supposed to be real important, why wait until like the second week of may?

yeah i guess post-draft stuff could take a bit but i dunno.

Kiper and the other draft big shot combined for 7 of 31 correct picks in the first round. I think the important question is why do they receive paychecks and why do we listen to them?
