Depends on his playoff performance.

He will likely stay in Pittsburgh.

The salary cap will be going up at least 6 million next season.

Why am I not surprised by this?

Staying in Pitt probably means the pens didnt go deep and people were like MUDKISLOWEFP23HJR59234232341234

It brings a smile to my face to see the Penguins trade so much away just for a rent-a-player. It's only fitting.

Nothing of value was lost.

My guess would be if the cap does move up we will keep either Hossa or Malone. Most likely Malone. But one of them is ending up somewhere else.

Wrong.

The pens currently have the 25th lowest payroll in the NHL.

They have plenty of room to sign everyone.

We lost Christensen and Armstrong. Christensen seemed to only find his valuable characteristics in shoot out situations. Pens already having one of the best if not the best shoot out team lost nothing.

Colby was just a glue guy that got most of his production when he was surrounded by talent (ie Malkin, Crosby, Malone, and Staal.)

Even if Hossa was to leave we still have Dupuis who has been more productive than Armstrong was when he was around. Dupuis has been top notch since coming to the Pens and he brings something to the team that we desperately need. An anxious shooter. One of the Penguins weak points is they don't take that many shots, but Dupuis doesn't matter what look he gets he likes to take a stab at the net and shoot even when he has a bad look.

Less you forget the 2008 1st round draft pick?

Just because we have the room doesn't mean we will spend it. I bet one of them is gone at season end. The cap will catch up regardless if we have Malkin, Malone, Staal, Crosby, Hossa, Gonchar, and Fleury on the team.

Only because Sid is only on the books for his rookie contract.

A majority of their forwards are UFAs, I dunno, they may be able to sign most of them, but they'll be pushing it. Unless Shero is like ol Lou in NJ, it will be tough.

Also, I can bet Malkin will more than likely ask for Crosby like numbers in his contract, like I've said before, don't be surprised if he plays else where in a season or two. I'm not saying he is going to be, but it's a possibility.

How high of a pick would that be?
Do we really need more unexperienced players?
