Just a quick question, /sp/.

Let's say you were a fairly decent player in (insert the sport you'd most likely want to play) and you're up for free agency.

Let's say the team you're playing for is a championship contender and a top notch team, but can only lowball a contract to you, let's say $1.5 mil, but you have a great chance on winning a championship. But on the other hand, a very awful, losing team with no chance at a playoff run on a slow rebuilding offers you double to triple of what your original team offered you.

Which do you go for? Money or Pride?

depends on where I was in my career

if the situation was right, fuck yes I'd sacrifice a few bucks for a championship

You play to win the championship. You're not going to be lowballed to that extent anyways, so you might as well make it look like you want to win. Too bad that the reality is most players just want the money..

Championship team. It's not like $1.5m is a crappy amount of money.

The only way I take the money over the championship caliber team is if the losers are my hometown team.

If you are to make 1.5 million to play for the great team, and it's only 3 million to play for the shitty team, fuck it, playing on the better team is what will be chosen. It's the difference between a small amount and a fucking big amount that brings up the question.

The Championship team. That way if you want to leave and go to a team with more money, you have a good resume and a better chance at getting even moar money

short term deal with the winner. then go out and get overpaid once you're deemed a "winner."

for further information see horry, robert or posey, james.

if I had a obese mother pushing me into this job I never asked for, money. If I had a dad who was regularly in my life (who wasn't a junkie), then maybe pride. Frankly I blame all idiot jocks on the fact they all had mommies looking at them as lottery tickets. All the interesting ones have dads.

I would not care about the money, i would only play for the seahawks or mariners.
