So I've been playing Football Manager 2008 (I'm American so its been really hard to learn), and it turns out to be a really fun game and has taught me a lot about the sport.

I have a question about Youth systems too.

So when you're 15, do you go to some tryout to make a Youth squad? Like are there Arsenal Youth tryouts or something? Do players have to go to school on Youth teams or do you get a tutor or something? Is this the only way players make the first team?

We've got under 10 competitions for the big clubs over here.

Dunno how things are elsewhere, but Barça has 10 youth teams(from 99' upwards) and 2 senior teams(first team and reserves)

You know a game fails, when England actually manage to qualify for a major tournament.

Different levels of club.

Most kids who make it take this route.

Join the local side when your about 6 or something, no one is really any good.

Keep playing for a couple of years. If you're lucky you develop well and you and your team progress and become one of top in the county or even the country. Scouts watch your team. This is still when your about 11 years old. Anywhere from 11 to 17 scouts will come watch your sunday league team and if they think you have alot of potential they will offer you a youth contract at the professional club.

You know the rest, if your good you get a professional contract and become pro.

I know a guy who plays for my home towns major club's youth academy and played for England U-16's. Been at the youth academy for 1-2 years I think.

Not about talent at that age, just playing football, if you develop well then opportunities occur.

Gai wasn't really scouted. His coaches told his parents that he's the biggest talent they ever saw and they took him to tryouts at Barca, and he was accepted right away.

Also, some clubs have tryouts too. I dont know how many, I only know Ajax does

Oh ok, that makes much more sense...though still so young. And here in America, they complain that kids coming out of high school are too young to go pro and they're 18 heh.

In Scotland, kids are usually scouted from under-14 teams into a first or premier division youth team from where they can develop.

Yeah its the scouting system :|

Scottish players develop after 14? I thought they just stagnated and pick whether they preferred blue or green.
