bronze looks the coolest, so I feel vindicated.
but seriously, who hangs themselves in japan? you have to do it the cool way, by hari-kari or jumping off a building or what have you.

We ended up beating Japan? That's cool. I turned the TV off when we were losing.

I don't really like baseball. Especially not Olympic baseball. Lol prospects.

Uh aren't they currently going crazy over the proposed Free Trade thing? Plus, I thought a lot of South Koreans hated the US because of the belief that the U.S. Army is preventing reunification.

There is a reason why the Little League World Series is set up as US vs International Winner. The US would still have a disproportional amount of talent like basketball.
>> Anonymous
>>290733
no, if the us would play all of the best mlb caliber players would play for their countries and they would all be loose. common sense and talent would indicate that the americans and dominicans would have far superior teams and unless they are in the same pool they would both play in the final. picking a winner for this game would be like tossing a coin.

It's not a clear road to first anymore. Right now, baseballs best team isn't the US, Japan has that title.

And this is what the US team fielded

MLB should have a playoff tournament like the olympics.

enough of this 7 game series shit. also the wildcard.

at least they won gold in softball. but I think there was something fishy going on with some of the calls in the bronze baseball match.
>> Anonymous
>>290774
the wbc was not fair, japan and cuba had finished their season so their players were definitely ready for a tournament having just played a full season and the other teams got together in less than a month so you really can't compare.
>> irulan !IBdmWfSrrg
i miss the time when baseball was about winning the regular season's 1xx game schedule.

it would be great to see the MLBers be allowed to play in the olympics

There's some flaws with Olympic baseball. First thing is that despite Latin America being baseball crazy, only Cuba was represented, where we had four Asian countries in Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan in a field of 8 countries, but least those four countries outside of China(and China gets an automatic team in every event) are baseball crazy. Why Canada, or the Neatherlands were picked over other countries such as Costa Rica, Puerto Rica or the Dominican Republic. The Olympics don't try to field the best teams, Europe doesn't give a fuck about baseball for the most part so why does it get an automatic bid over more deserving regions like Latin America?

You `know, if Japan lost it was unfair, if they won, then all was ok and acording to the rules.
Also, what if they lost?, they learned a lot and is not who wins but who do the best game and blah, blah, maximun in everythin japan, blah blah, the acient samurais, blah, blah, damned americans, blah, blha, blah.

Tha japs, lost, that`s it, they don`t win and are fucking lOoOOoOOosers!!!

i have no problem with seeing asian teams play. this game needs ambassadors and asia is a breeding ground that needs to flourish (lol) but seriously if baseball were to establish a foothold in a country as big as china it would truly be a global game cause we know europe won't really matter with their declining numbers and "elitist" way of thinking. just my two cents.

>>290781
MLB and the MLBPA were the ones who organized and created it. All players put their names in the hat and volunteered to be on the team. You could say that the US team was well rested, and the Japanese and Cuban teams were exhausted from their seasons.

Fact is, US team couldn't get out of the 2nd round with the best roster that they could come up with in the inaugural first WBC.

...so when is the second first WBC?
>> Anonymous

next year in March.
>> Anonymous
>>291021
the us team was well rested??? an offseason of about 6 months is well rested??? you're obviously a troll. besides the japanese and cuban leagues are way shorter than the 162 game mlb season and given the chance to have at least a few months of warmup and having the team play together would make a huge difference for say an american or dominican team that has its best talents in the majors. but most of these players will probably not agree to a pre-spring training training.

The Japanese owners were pissed that they were ignored about it and didn't have a say in the WBC organization. The U.S. and MLB just replied that Japan didn't have to participate if it didn't want to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_World_Baseball_Classic

The funny thing is that the U.S. is playing in Canada for the first round, in the Rogers center.(Where the Blue Jays play), and then to Miami where the Marlins play for round two. Then they get to play Dodgers Stadium in the finale. That's a lot of traveling just for March.

Its mostly to keep transportation costs down. Instead of sending four teams to the U.S. from Japan, you just send two teams, etc. And it allows multiple countries to host the event, and lets the U.S. keep the finals in the U.S. Remember all the bitching the Red Sox made because they had to go to Japan? Just imagine what a stink MLB teams would make if their players had to go to Europe for a final.

Faggot Elevens speaking out of their asses again.
Toll shows South Koreans is divided upon the China issue. But overall, the tension between China and South Korea hardly exists. At most, it's just some Bawwing over some mountain range. Of all Asian Nations the BAWWIEST one is Japan, the only pathetic country who considers China a threat. India and Vietnam dislikes China, but they know when to call time-out and do the right thing trying to befriend China.
