Abbott was, as an amateur many, many years ago.

The reason why no major league players show up should be obvious, though: their season is ongoing, and they are in the middle of playoff races right now. Some exhibition games on the other side of the world don't mean SHIT by comparison.

This is why there will BE no Olympic baseball starting in 2012: no one cares - not the big-league players, and not their fans.
