>>106046 That's different though, because you don't count on Horry making plays down the stretch; he just catches and shoots. Also, he's less clutch than you think. he himself admitted that the reason why he takes so many threes in the late stages of the game is because he won't be blamed for losing the game. think about it. horry is a role player. if his shots don't go in and his team loses, he never gets the blame, because you don't expect him to win for you. but if his shots fall, then he's a hero. he basically gets all the upside of taking clutch shots with none of the blame.
Case in point: 2003 NBA playoffs. Lakers lost to the spurs, and most of the blame was on Kobe and Shaq (either being unclutch or failing to make the right plays), and people conveniently forgot about Horry's 2/38 3pt shooting in the playoffs, because it doesn't fit with their idea of who Horry is as a veteran player. in 12 games, Horry averaged 31 minutes a game, averaged about 6pts 6rb, shot 30% from the field.
even with the spurs, he continues to take bad threes (which are wildly celebrated when they go in, quickly forgotten when they don't), play boneheaded defense, and lingers around the court.
