1.Georgia - moreno: FUCK YEAH

4.Florida - year 2 of 3 for tebow, and an older d-line/secondary will make them a serious threat

8.Missouri Tigers - not feeling it. i maintain they are overrated.

9.Virginia Tech Hokies - used up their sympathy wins last year. back to mediocrity with you!

11.Kansas - their coach put on some more weight in the off season. should be a real beast this year if he can keep his daily cheeseburger rations in check.

12.Oregon Ducks - lost 2 huge impact players. rebuilding year incoming

14.LSU - if periloux can stop breaking the law they will dominate SEC west. keep him away from loose bikes.

15.Alabama - nick saban needs to produce some wins or his alabama revival will be very short lived. record last year is not really indicative of how good the program "could be"
>> Lambchop's Death Legion
Needs more Arizona State, Jack Elway for the win.

Going to be mediocre in the 2nd half of the season.

You have Ohio State as 10? Are you kidding me? We have virtually every player returning (the only notable players leaving were Gholston and Barton), a beefed-up offensive line from our recruitment class to help Beanie Wells break through for even MORE 80 yard touchdown runs, and possibly Terrelle Pryor, maybe do a dual quarterback thing.

That being said...I'm thinking we'll be ranked 3 preseason, and the #1 seed will be determined when OSU plays USC. Should be a great game.

I'm thinking...

1. USC
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma
>> Anonymous
>>16691
yeah, look at what feats they pulled with those players.

not looking that good but that over rated in an over raided confrence
>> Anonymous
>>16516
I picked them as number 2 because of the talent they have coming back this year and how they were on fire at the end of the season.
I also believe that USC and UGA should have played in the rose bowl this year.
>> Anonymous
>>16776

you mean advancing to the championship game? and returning almost all starters? yeah, that is pretty impressive.

>>16691
yeah, look at what feats they pulled with those players.

not looking that good, but that over rated in an over raided conference.

face up, OSU has never been all that great, they didn't really beat Miami in the BCS tittle game.
they simply got a bullshit pass interference call decide the game.

BLOWN OUT IN THE TITTLE GAME.
two years in a row, I believe it's time someone else had a chance.

>>16790

they got blown out? i must have missed that. it looked to me like they played as well as lsu did but had some key bounces go against them.
>> Anonymous

that game ended in the first half, both times.
just because OSU scored 14 points in the second half, it means nothing, LSU had it's backups playing.

>>16790

Yes, we lost two years in a row, but we did MAKE it two years in a row. You guys can bitch all you want about "BAWWWWW OSU DIDN'T PLAY A GOOD GAME AND LOST," and I don't really give a shit, because we have been to the BCS championship game three years. We are clearly a good team.

We're a championship-quality team, we just made it a year too early when we played LSU.

>>16786

The Big Ten isn't overrated. If you watched Sports Center for even 5 minutes this past season you heard them talk about how awesome the SEC is and how terrible the Big Ten is. And "over-raided"? lolwut?

We'll just see what happens when OSU beats USC. Then maybe you'll suck it up and give us credit.
>> Anonymous
>>16908

...I put OSU as #3. Are you being serious right now?
>> Anonymous
>5.Texas

Alright, I GO to UT and I can tell you we're not getting 5th. We lost some important seniors last year and McCoy still isn't consistent enough to compare with the talent that will show up in a lot of other teams this year.
>> Anonymous
>>16913
it is an overrated conference!
who cares what sports center says, half of the people on there played for big 10 teams.

who did you guys beat that made you so deserving this year?
played a weak non conference schedule you could.
lost to Illinois (remember how bad USC gave it to them)
only ranked team i see there is Michigan and they lost to Appalachian state.

SEC owns the big 10.

it's the big 10's fault we can't have a fucking playoff.

Non-Shitty Top 25:

1. USC
2. Georgia
3. Florida
4. Oklahoma
5. Clemson
6. Ohio State
7. Texas
8. Missouri
9. Kansas(For the record...I think they lose week two to USF)
10. Illinois
11. Auburn
12. South Florida
13. West Virginia
14. Texas Tech
15. Wisconsin
16. Arizona State
17. Tennessee

first of all, your reading comprehension skills are lacking. ESPN CONSTANTLY YAPS ABOUT THE SUPERIORITY OF THE SEC. secondly, lsu lost to arkansas, who got HAMMERED by missouri. so you don't prove anything by pulling the "x lost to y who lost to z" line. also, the line about the big ten having anything to do with the lack of a playoff is just laughable.
>> Anonymous
>>16965

And USC lost to Stanford. So...
>> Anonymous
>>16981
who do you think goes to the rose bowl every year?
only one pac 10 team said no and the whole big 10 said no.
the sugar, peach, cotton, a fiesta all okayed a playoff.
but the rose bowl still won't budge.
don't believe me? look it up.

also, are you talking about lou holtz?
mark may and kirk herbstreit never say a damn good thing about the SEC.
hell, have you read some of their blogs?
they go on huge rants about the SEC all the time.
what was the first words out of kirk herbstreits mouth after all the games were said and done in week 12? LSU
a week earlyer he said UGA.
LSU looked like the weaker of the two so they wanted them so OSU could have a chance.
>> Anonymous
>>17005
USC had injuries.
>> Anonymous
>>17019

Herbstreit picked Florida and LSU over Ohio State the past two years, and he PLAYED for Ohio State. If you haven't heard him say good shit about the SEC, you obviously watch games on mute.
>> Anonymous
what makes the big ten so amazing again?

they got shut out in the BCS.
>> Anonymous
>>17019

you obviously don't listen to anything on espn. every single analyst agrees that the SEC is the best conference in the nation, and constantly talk about the "slower speed of the big ten game". also, i really don't give a shit what the rose bowl committee thinks and i don't see how they're relevant to this at all.
>> Anonymous
>>17022

Even if USC had EVERY first string player injured it still would have been a massive upset. Lest we forget Stanford went 1-11 last year.

And Ohio State had referees who were injured in the head. Watch this video right at 1:25. Yes, it was a fantastic run, but he CLEARLY fumbles the football INTO THE ENDZONE which is recovered by Ray Small. His knees were not even remotely close to being down, and his feet weren't out. Unfortuntely, Tressel was too tentative to challenge the play. I'm not saying Illinois didn't play a fantastic game, because they did, but since they only won by one touchdown it raises questions.

Plus, Illinois ended up playing in the Rose Bowl. Georgia should have went over them, but nonetheless they're an underrated team. Very inexperienced too...to go into the Rose Bowl with that team against arguably the best team in college football at the end of the year is a pretty daunting task.

>>17035

NO ONE IS SAYING THE BIG TEN IS AMAZING. I CLEARLY said that the SEC is the strongest team in the country, and the Big Ten is very weak, especially this past year. Sure, the two BCS teams lost, but what about Michigan beating the shit out of Florida? The only reason Florida even had a chance to win that game was that Mike Hart broke his streak of 900+ carries with no fumbles by fumbling TWICE on one yard line. It should've been a blowout.

>>17052

I meant strongest conference, not strongest team.

Rose Bowl is a Pac 10 vs. Big Ten matchup. Do you not understand?
>> Anonymous
>>17055

The Rose Bowl isn't Pac-10 vs. Big Ten anymore. That's what it is TRADITIONALLY, so they like to keep it that way, but won't ALWAYS do that. Texas (Big 12) played in it in 2005 and 2006. Oklahoma played in 2003. What do YOU not understand?

Georgia fan here. I wish, but this is pretty fucking brutal guize. Nobody in America has a harder October + November than this shit:

08/30/08 Georgia Southern Eagles
09/06/08 Central Michigan Chippewas
09/13/08 at South Carolina Gamecocks
09/20/08 at Arizona State Sun Devils
09/27/08 Alabama Crimson Tide
10/04/08 Open Date N/A
10/11/08 Tennessee Volunteers
10/18/08 Vanderbilt Commodores
10/25/08 at LSU Tigers
11/01/08 Florida Gators (Jacksonville, FL)
11/08/08 at Kentucky Wildcats
11/15/08 at Auburn Tigers
11/22/08 Open Date N/A
11/29/08 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
12/06/08 SEC Championship (Atlanta, GA)

We should start out top 2, but if we finish there I'll be shocked. : /

Oh hai, I fixed your schedule.
Alabama schedule:
Clemson at Atlanta, Ga. (Georgia Dome) - L
Tulane Tuscaloosa - W
Western Kentucky Tuscaloosa - W
Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas - W (With Mallet sitting out a year, Petrino isn't going to be able to do much with Dick at QB. Losing the top two RBs in the conference also hurts.)
Georgia at Athens, Ga. - L
Kentucky Tuscaloosa - W
Ole Miss Tuscaloosa - W
Tennessee at Knoxville, Tenn. - W (The Vols were a heck of a lot better last year, and they got rolled. The lack of Ainge, a precipitous drop in recruiting, and no David Cutliffe means that the other UT won't be beating the Tide the next few years.)
Arkansas State (Homecoming) Tuscaloosa - W
LSU * at Baton Rouge, La. - L
Mississippi State Tuscaloosa - W
Auburn Tuscaloosa - W (Auburn is installing a new offense but doesn't have the QB or the players to make it work yet. At home, Alabama gets the job done.)
9-3, possible SEC West title, where they would lose to either Florida or Georgia again.
>>16981
It's... really not. The Big 10/Pac 10 agreement with the rose bowl is one of the biggest roadblocks to a true championship game that exists. The commissioner of the Big 10 in particular is a giant anti-playoff queer. Check the facts.
>> Anonymous
>>17383

to the commissioner of the big ten, it's all about money, and the rose bowl guarantees the big ten tons of money every year. of course he doesn't want a playoff. i think the meaning was that it's not like all the coaches and teams in the big ten got together and decided "LOL WE DON'T WANT PLAYOFFS CAUSE WE'LL LOSE". it's just the big wigs in charge of the conference, that don't really have a vested interest in the games themselves.

Despite the usual winning record Michigan displays, I don't expect to see them anywhere in the top 25 when the season starts this year.

Hart, Henne, and Long are all gone to the NFL and that was basically their entire senior leadership core. Plus, Mallet transferred so they have no QB with any experience. They still have Arrington and Manningham, true, but they've got no one to throw them the ball

The lack of any leadership at key positions combined with a brand new coach who is going to completely change the way Michigan football is played means it's going to be a difficult development process for them for a few years at minimum.
>> Anonymous
I don't think Les Miles is going to be stupid enough to keep Ryan Perriloux out for the season. I really thought Perriloux stepped up and matured in the SEC championship.

I was wrong. as a huge LSU fan, I hope he cleans up his act
>> Anonymous
>>17747
Manningham and Arrington both entered the draft. Michigan's problems can be solved if Pryor commits, but he's still leaning towards TOSU. Otherwise, they'll need a QB that can run Rodriguez's spread.

>>17431
You are sadly mistaken, friend. Troy may be better than Vandy, but they're not better than any of the consistent SEC powers. Or even South Carolina.
>> thetruth !!aGXBnMVTlN3
>>17747

I'm a huge michigan fan. Both receivers left. They have no QB I'm hoping for pryor but the Threet is workable if we don't land Pryor. But they should definitly not be in the top 25. I think they will have an average season for them, probably 4 losses.

I do expect big things in a few years though.
>> Anonymous
>>17932
I hadn't heard that both of them had declared for the draft. Not surprising certainly, especially with Carr retiring. Thanks.

>>17936
Yeah, I don't expect much from Michigan this year. But you're right, that spread is going to be nasty in a few years when Rodriguez gets the players he needs. Considering the impact Illinois had with it this year, having two teams not using the Big 10's traditional focus on running is going to make all the teams have to become a lot more flexible on defensive coverages. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
