Looking over it, I don't see many terrible trades for Detroit teams. So I'll point out bad draft picks and releases also

Detroit Tigers: Trading John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander, releasing Carlos Pena

Detroit Pistons: Drafting Darko Milicic over Wade, Bosh, Anthony

Detroit Red Wings: I cannot think of any bad player moves in the last 15 years. Guess that's why they keep winning, meh.

Detroit Lions: The only GOOD move they've made in the last 20 years was drafting Barry Sanders in the '89 draft. Every other move has been absolutely turrable.

>Peter Forsberg, as well as Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, Steve Duchesne, a 1st round selection (Jocelyn Thibault) in 1993, a 1st round selection (later traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, later traded to the Washington Capitals - Nolan Baumgartner) in 1994, and $15,000,000 cash.

For one player. It doesn't matter who it is, one player is not worth all of that.

Especially when the team that got all of that (then Quebec) was a pretty shit team before the trade too.

That team, as Colorado, went on to win the Stanley Cup two times.

Philly went to the finals once and got swept. Not nearly as successful as the other team.

Clear enough for you, yet?

>Colorado, went on to win the Stanley Cup two times

Three years after the fact. And only Simon, Ricci, and Forsberg were on the 95-96 team. Only Forsberg stuck around for the second Cup in 00-01.

>Philly went to the finals once and got swept

In the regular season, perhaps. Come playoff time though, he was just another choker. He had a good 97 playoff run but only scored once against the Wings in the Finals. Again, choker. Not worth everything the Flyers gave up.

>Three years after the fact. And only Simon, Ricci, and Forsberg were on the 95-96 team. Only Forsberg stuck around for the second Cup in 00-01.

They used Thibault to acquire Patrick Roy, a big reason for that team's success for both Cups and their long successful run.

>You mentioned the draft picks, and the only result of either of those picks was a later trade to bring Roy to Colorado. That's how Montreal got involved you ignorant twit.

You were the fucktard that mentioned Montreal making a mistake. All I brought up was Colorado using Thibault to get Roy. For all I care Roy could've came from Florida. It didn't matter what team Roy came from, fact remains Colorado used Thibault to get Roy.

>MAYBE I SHOULD TYPE IN ALL CAPS SO MAYBE YOU'LL DISLODGE YOUR HEAD FROM YOUR ASS AND REALIZE MOST OF THE PLAYERS TRADED WEREN'T INVOLVED IN COLORADO'S FIRST CUP LET ALONE THE SECOND AND NONE OF THOSE PLAYERS WOULD'VE HELPED PHILADELPHIA WIN A CUP OTHERWISE

Colorado won two cups after the trade.
Philadelphia won zero.

Colorado got the most out of the trade, such as two Stanley Cups.
Philadelphia got some guy who could score some regular season goals.

Looking at it 16 years later, I as well as most other sane people can say that Colorado raped the shit out of that trade.

Even if you were looking at just the trade at the time, fuck, Forsberg and all of those players just for a draft pick. You keep bringing up Lindros' three good years, which happened AFTER THE FACT, yet you ignore everything else that happened AFTER THE FACT.

>And Forsberg is such a legend in Colorado that they just let him go on free-agency, huh? Idiot kid.

Protip: lots of teams let aging players go at the twilight of their careers.

And throwing the 'kid' card around now? You're just fucking reaching now. Hell, I might as well do it too, its the cool thing to do nowadays.

Holy shit, do you read the garbage you type? Philadelphia did not trade Roy for Thibault. But you bring it up like they did. Another team made a mistake. If you didn't mean to pin it on Philadelphia, why fucking mention it? Because you are trying to make the Philadelphia/Quebec trade look worse by pinning Montreal's mistake on Philadelphia.

>Colorado won two cups after the trade.
With only one player involved in the trade being on the team for both Cups neither of which occured in the season following the trade.

>lots of teams let aging players go at the twilight of their careers.
He still produced during his seasons in Philadelphia. Colorado dropped him because he was injury prone and not worth the money. The Avalanche organization does not have the same respect for him they do Sakic. But nice try at bullshitting a point.

>And throwing the 'kid' card around now? You're just fucking reaching now.

You're hardly proving otherwise considering you've faulted the Flyers' management for not knowing that Lindros would get injured years down the line. Lindros was a great player when he came into the league, and it was unfortunate that he didn't want to play as hard after his concussions. In the end, the trade did not cripple Philadelphia in any way, and, despite your ignorant insistance, did not instantly gift Quebec a Stanley Cup.
