A recent thread on this board got me to thinking about the worst screw jobs in sports history. A few that jump out to be are in no particular order

*Sacremento Kings getting screwed in games six of the western conference finals when the lakers got 27, yes 27 free throws in the fourth quarter. Including Pollard fouling out while 5 feet from shaq and Mike Bibby fouling Kobe's elbow with his face...

* Miami Hurricanes winning the 2002 National Championship then minutes later having to start playing again against ohio

* Michigan and Desmond Howard's 2 point conversion against Michigan State when Howard is raped and tackled with no flag being thrown. The next day the Big Ten admits the call was blown. (I choose this one over Spartan Bob stopping the clock in 2004 and giving the Spartans another play WHERE on that play Shantee Orr was blantantly held and no called)

*United States getting screwed TWICE in the final 1 then 3 seconds against Russia in the 1972 Olympic finals.

*Missouri losing to Nebraska in overtime in 1997 after Nebraska scored an illegal touchdown involving kicking the ball.

*Montreal screwjob, Bret screwed Bret

/sp/artans! I ask you, what do you think are the biggest screw jobs in sports?

Game about a week ago.

Wings vs. Sharks, the score is 2-2, about 5 minutes left in the game.

A shark player shoots the puck, it hits the Wings goalie, bounces up, HITS THE NETTING ABOVE THE GLASS, drops in front of the goal where a Shark player scores with it.

Somehow all four refs on the ice missed the puck hitting the netting.

Sorry, might not be the biggest screwing in all of sports history...but damnit I'm still pissed about it.

Arkansas at SMU 1982 - both teams undefeated, late in the season, Cotton Bowl on the line. Arkansas is leading late in the game when Horton Nesrsta calls pass interference on hogs' DB nathan jones. Replays showed that Jones never touched, nor came even close to touching SMU receiver Jackie Wilson. SMU, buoyed by the penalty (at the time it was like the NFL - move the ball to the spot of the foul) went on to score and the game ended in a 17-17 tie. Lou Holtz called it the "worst and most costly call I've ever witnessed". The NCAA changed the pass interference rule to a 15-yard penalty after that season.

Oh come on, where is the Oklahoma-Oregon onside kick? The refs gave Oregon the ball despite the fact that a Sooner incontrovertibly came up with the ball. Not only that, an Oregon player touched it before the ball traveled 10 yards, which would have also given the Sooners the ball.

If Oklahoma was rewarded the ball, as they should have been, the game would have been over. This isn't a 'what if', this is a 'what would have been'.

You deserve to say it, a heavily rigged game that no one ever bothered to checked into.
I remember after the Super bowl I checked everything over, Seattle should of won 17-14.

Yes, the refs allowed a record setting 75 yard TD run and blew the coverage on a trick play that went for a 50 yard TD pass.
