Do you Phillie fans really think Blanton didn't have any pine tar on his hat?

it was obvious all game long on tv, massive brown patch on the brim of his new hat, which he kept touching repeatedly during every at bat.

Its dirt and sweat, he has a nervous habit of his to grab his hat.

Non-OP unbiased baseball fan here, only kept track of the game online but that doesn't sound unusual at all. All baseball players have habits like that. I can't speak as to what it might be or why it would be that dark at the start of the 3rd when he's only thrown <50 pitches but the touch thing doesn't sound abnormal.

If you watch this guy pitch, you'll notice that every single time they throw a new fresh ball back to him, the first thing he does is wipe his hand on his forehead (to gather moisture).

This is because everyday the game balls are rubbed in mud before the game to rough them up. Some pitchers prefer them roughed up, some prefer them slick. He gathers the moisture from his head so because he prefers a slick grip rather than a rough one. From doing this over and over again during games and warm-ups, his hand gets muddy from the sweat picking up the mud off the ball, and he rubs his hat as a nervous tick over and over again all game. Over the long run, it transfers the mud from the ball to his cap, not vice versa.

Get over it, TB was blown the fuck out last night.

Listen, I'll let you all pass because you're AL fans and haven't seen Joe Blanton pitch since he was in Oakland. Joe Blanton wears the same hat game in and game out. He is superstitious about changing hats all season. He's been wearing that hat since the day he came to Philadelphia and he doesn't ever wash it. It's not a new hat and didn't even look new. That brown stain was there in the 1st inning and there are white sweat stains all over it. If you saw him on Oakland last year, when he was there all year, his A's hat was 10x nastier. He has a nervous habit of touching that spot on his hat with his thumb. It's dirt. Joe Maddon was just grasping at straws.

Of course it's not pine tar.

It's his lucky shit stain.

Don't you fuckheads know anything about baseball?

If pine tar is such a big deal when people think the opposing picture has some on their hands and somewhere why not just go get a sample and test it later.

If it was they get suspended?

That hat has a world series logo on it. Its a brand new hat. Every player has to wear a new cap with a world series logo on it. So, unless Blanton has been wearing the same cap with the world series on it all year long, and has been incredibly obnoxious about it, or he just took the new cap, and dirty it up quick because he likes to wear dirty shit.

Its probably the 2nd one since its a new cap. Don't know if he cheated, but it gives him the chance to.

How hilarious is it that the Rays are seriously trying to act like they really matter in the sports world? Nobody feels bad you or your shitty team that you just found out existed 3 weeks ago. Nice first impression of how you guys handle a World Series "omg we lost? they must be cheating"

Welcome to the world of sports where your team has a 50% chance of losing even though you may have just bought your Iwomura shirt and plastic liscense plate holder faggots.

Actually it is probably easier. All they have to do is pass out 25+ World Series patches and have the players stick them on their old caps. It would cost less to do it that way then making 25+ new caps for both teams.
>> headsigh !pPyM90q9.6
It's hilarious how they didn't ask him to switch hats or anything.

The patch just has adhesive on the back. It literally takes 10 seconds to peel the back off, and put the sticker on.

The patches are applied to the players' individual caps by a representative from New Era.

It isn't a brand new hat. Charlie Manuel also has an old hat with a WS logo on it. Baseball players are superstitious about their shit.
