Stern wants the Lakers to win so Kobe can be the new MJ thus garnering more ratings due to the presence of an 'It' player.


Boston will win anyways because the Penguins had the same thing going with Crosby and the older, more experienced team with a deeper bench won in the end.

disagree. the lakers are far more set-up for success in the next 5 years than the celtics (big 3 and co are awesome, but in 5 years kobe will be 34 and his entire supporting cast will be early 30s or late 20s - almost all of boston's roster will be retired or late 30s). as such, nba has more interest milking this celtics team for this one season, because they can expect plenty of success from the lakers going forward - the same is not true of boston beyond 2009 and maybe 2010 depending on how well the celtics' stars hold up.
