It's really not that hard. The bowler (pitcher) throws the ball, bouncing it once, at the batsman's (batter) wicket(those three sticks behind him) and tries to know off a bail (the things balanced on the sticks) . If he knocks them, he's out. The batsman hits the ball, and if it's caught (just like in baseball), he's out. If not, he runs to the opposite end of the pitch and scores a run. There is another batsman on the other side, so they essentially change places. They can do this 6 times per play. The play ends when the a player on the opposite team can knock a bail off the wicket.
