Farewell, old friend...

Steinbrenner is a complete moron

Word. It ain't his fault. If it were any other team, just getting to the divisional series would qualify as a reason to celebrate. Look at the Tigers. You think that if they were to have lost to New York, Leyland would get canned? Hell no. The Tigers would still call it a successful season.

This is what pissed me off about the Yankees: as various pieces from the 1996-2001 teams started to retire/get traded/whatever, Georgie started adding the wrong pieces to fill the void.

Switch Giambi, Arod, and Sheffeld for Paul O'Niel, Scott Brocios, and Tino Martinez. Then we'd be talking about a different story...

But then again, Torre chose to start Jared F-ing Wright, and he put Gary Sheffeld at first base...

Joe had a good run regardless.

Steinbrenner expects nothing less than a complete playoff sweep, and heads roll if he doesn't get his way. Torre's just the beginning. Expect Steinbrenner to pay $300 million for players next season.

good night, sweet prince

I heard he wasn't fired and that report released was bullshit.

You know what though, Torre is a good coach, don't get me wrong, but with a roster like that... couldn't a 6th grader do just as well? Yankees shouldn't choke like that every year. And when they do, it's not Torre's fault. If he wants to show off his coaching talents, take a team with hardly any superstars (i.e. Detroit) to a championship and I'll give you the true praise you deserve.

I'd say getting A-Rod out of New York would be a better way to start rebuilding the team rather than firing Joe Torre

If that doesnt happen however, the yankees would be so much fun to watch next year for the sole reason that Lou Piniella is only one of three managers that could bring A-Rod to tears (the others being Showalter and Bowa -- although right now Bowa is a castrated version of himself since he's only the 3rd base coach)

Yanks lost because they didn't have good pitching.

NY lost because George is a prick and karma rules.

Joe will still have a job next season, according to what I heard on 1010 WINS. They're doing a press conference or something at 1 today, so I guess we'll find out then.

Keep Torre. Trade A. Rod, obtain pitching, try again. (A middle relief is fine too.)

>Keep Torre. Can't traid A-Rod. Buy pitching that immediately goes lame. Lose division to Blue Jays.

fixed
