18-1

I hate this faggot

the only reason I wanted 19-0 was for these pathetic losers to go away.
Especially this druggie who thinks he's some sort of leader for the Dolphins geezers.

Sup, Mercury.

Welcome to Perfect Town
Population: 1972 Dolphins

No losers allowed in our neighborhood.

I'm fuckin' lovin' this 18-1 shit.

See ya later. I'm gonna go polish this motherfucker.

As a South Florida resident, let me just say how fucking sick I am of the 72 Fins. These assholes think they could still win today. They act like fucking immortals every time they make an appearance somewhere. Outside of Shula, they have lost their grip on reality and remind me of high school football losers that still think anyone cares that they won All-State 20 years ago.

As much as I love 18-1, 19-0 would be great b/c it would shut all these losers the fuck up.

They are FOOTBALL immortals, faggot.

Bill Belicheat, Shady Brady and the entire New England Patriots* organization are football IMMORALS.

18-1, cocksucker.

Sounds like Bill Walton and his attitude about players and teams of yesteryear would dominate players today. Never mind that those old school players in their prime were as athletic as a WNBA player is today.

At first i was like ARGHAGHGH FUCK 72 FINS

but you know what? i'm glad somebody's honest. cliche athletes bore me to death, and false humility is not a virtue. at least mercury, love him or hate him, is interesting.

the average high school physics teacher knows more about the nature of the universe than einstein did when he died. of course sports evolve, and the players today are better, but you can only be judged against your peers.

i made this argument before, but if bill russell were born today, he'd be conceivably a much better player than bill russell of the 60's, maybe even taller, if the average height has grown. of course, we can't account for environmental influences, negative or positive.

>>213335
well yeah of course, if bill was a player of this generation he'd have to train harder to be a player that wins 11 rings.

Don't worry, Brett Farve will go 19-0 this year and shut the fins up.

Don't believe the hype.

look at the weight and size of D-ends and linebackers of the 70's compared to now, even Hall of Famers. No comparison. Guys who were great players in the seventies couldn't even start in the NFL now.

>South Florida resident

That doesint mean shit. Your probably aren't even a fins fan. Obviously some fag from bawwston that needs to go back where he came from. We don't want your shitty driving and random drunken fights in bars anymore. Leave Florida.

btw, 18-1

you guys are missing the point. i know players today are better. but when comparing eras, you have to look at in relative terms. if 260lbs was average sized then, if that same player was born today he'd be at the average, 300lbs or whatever it is now.

also, if those same players were born today, they could take advantage of advances in nutrition, weight training, etc. not to mention you have thirty years of tape to look at and build on those moves. do you think if dominique wilkins were born today and entered the dunk contest, he would do the same dunks he did back then?

on the flip side, today's players have a LOT more distractions than in the past, so ex-players who partied a lot might be adversely affected by being born today.

again, i refer to the einstein analogy. your high school physics teacher knows more about the universe than albert einstein and isaac newton. that doesn't make hin a better scientist.

No shit. Howabout we take every great player before the 85' season out of the Hall of Fame?

On the fucking money.

lol at the fags who bash the old school players.

yes it's relative of course. I think the point is that players of yesteryear (like the one in the OP) shouldn't act like they're hott shit now, or like what got them a ring in the past would work today.
>> Anonymous
>>213367
Are you always this aggressively stupid?
>> Anonymous
>>213367

It's also relative in that the difficulty level of going 18-0 with a Super Bowl win back then was just about as difficult as going 19-0 now. Sure there have been some benefits from technology and evolution, but the playing field was just as level back then as it is now (Spygate notwithstanding).

>>213372
uh not really

who the fuck really wants a 19-0 solely for shutting some old players up? who really cares that much?

17-0 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 18-1
>> Anonymous
>>213374

Why not? Think about it, all the teams had the same pool of athletes to draw from, the same game films to watch, the same relative level of fitness, etc.

Miami was in no way a 70's dynasty, don't get me wrong. But it's a pretty impressive accomplishment to have a perfect season, regardless of the era.

>>213367
why not? like i said>>213329, he's being honest. sure, he's not as good as HE thinks he is, but hey, they did something special and he wants to shout it from the rooftops.

i mean, why are we so bothered by arrogance? our sensitivity is part of the reason why a lot of today's athletes are so afraid to SAY ANYTHING, because they don't want to hurt their endorsements with people who treat them like gods but expect them to act like humble peasants.

i'd have to disagree, and i'm the fag defending the old players. 19-0 is harder than 17-0. more games, more media pressure, more incentive for opposing teams to win and be immortalized themselves.
>> Anonymous
>>213391
to further elaborate, the effect of the media/climate on an individual is one of those things that in most cases are impossible to project. would bill russell have been better if he wasn't surrounded by racism? or did that motivate him to succeed? would terrell owens, a man who speaks his mind, have been a muhammed ali/jim brown figure in the 60's?

unlike weight, height and general knowledge, these things are difficult to figure without knowing the person. however, i would say generally media pressure helps the underdog. maybe wilt would've beaten the celtics more often if he had to hear every 5 minutes how much BRETT FAVRE i mean how he can't win a ring.

Yes one letter missing DEFINITELY determines your age.

The only difference in our posts is I missed one letter, and you referenced two kids televisions shows.
