Why would David Villa want to leave a club that ACTUALLY wins trophies, to join a bunch of overrated and overpaid north london funbois?

tottenham will crash and burn this season....i predict they finish 14th in the table

Chelseafag here. I'd never admit it face to face, but if they get him AND Arshavin, I'd have to admit even I'm not looking forward to playing them, especially if they can keep King and Woodgate fit.

I really hope they can keep underperforming like they have traditionally, because Juande Ramos is known for getting 110% out of his team, & 110% out of the team he's putting together is honestly a little bit frightening.

why would you think that arshavin is heading to london period?

zenit is one of the richest clubs in Europe right now. Their win against a SHITE Rangers side in the UEFA Cup final was no fluke, they have one of the best sides in Europe. They are set to compete in the CL next year, and they will be a force.

But in this case, this isnt a situation where Tottenham can simply buy a player. Zenit is sponsored by Gazprom, and in terms of market capitalization, they are the world's third largest corporation. Only PetroChina and ExxonMobil are larger. As such they have invested over £100 million since 2006. This money has been allocated primarily for a new stadium, player transfers, and wages.

When you compare this to typical kit sponsorships that usually are worth 10% of Zenit's deal....this is a club that is sponsored by a giant. With Gazprom's prominent links in the world's of heavy industry, finance, banking, media, and government; it is quite clear that this is an entity that dwarfs typical sponsorships in the football world.

Zenit can pay Arshavin whatever he wants. Nor are Zenit under any pressure to sell the player whatsoever. Unless someone like Barca, Chelsea, or mabye even Spurs if they were so inclined to pay something stupid to Zenit, there isnt a great financial inclination to sell the player.

This is the club Arshavin grew up with, and has played for since he was a youth player. He is only leaving for a giant club.....AND THATS NOT SPURS!!!!!

He wants to be at Barca but the asking price is ridiculously over odds which means only two clubs in the entire world would buy him now. It would not surprise you that they are both English. Spurs, of course are one, the soon to be Muslim owned Geordies are the other.

He wants Barca... But I hear the night life is good in London.. Just not as much not sun.

So are spurs thinking of playing 1-9-1 next season because they seem to be offloading a lot of defence and strikers, but not buying very many. (Going on the rumour that Villa in Berba out to United to fund the deal + their other summer goings on)

This actually looks about right IF teams play to their potential. Arsenal & Spurs are underachievers as of late so in reality both will probably be 2 or 3 spots lower.

>>232627

a) You're just bitter because Spurs annihilated you last week. Celtic is an average team in a terrible league and your only good players are an Asian winger and a Polish keeper, both of whom are far too good for your shitty club.

b) Zenit is not wealthy at all. They have had a large increase in wealth, but their net worth is probably not even half of even Spurs, let alone the bigger English clubs. One season does not a big club make. CSKA & Lokomotiv still have a much bigger market penetration outside of Russia than Zenit, even with their recent successes.

c) Gazprom is a sponsor, not an owner. You obviously have no clue how corporate sponsorships work if you think having them as a sponsor makes Zenit the richest team in Europe. Fail.

d) Spurs would be a good fit for Arshavin I feel, & I'm not even a Spurs fan. Any bigger of a club and he won't get so many games, and his 15 minutes of fame will be overshadowed by other big stars. At Spurs he'll be a star, get a good run of games, and still be on a team good enough to at least challenge for things.

e) Anyone who uses exclamation points and caps lock in a sports discussion deserves nothing but ridicule.

As for Villa, very few clubs will match Valencia's valuation, and Spurs can with Berbatov going to Man U for a similar (albeit bloated) price. I'd much rather go to Spurs and get 40 games a season than rot on Real Madrid's bench behind Raul, Robinho & Van Nistelrooy and have to compete for third out and out striker with Saviola.

As much as I hate to admit it, if Spurs get their center half situation sorted before the window closes, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Hell they stomped your team and Dortmund using their last season's fourth striker and a couple of academy players.

Liverpool is broke, and with the exception of last year it wasn't lets spend shitloads of money and get shitloads of players.

Arsenal didn't have a very deep squad to begin with last year, they could've won the premiership if 1. They took responsibility for when they drop points. 2. If they had a less shallow squad. They have responded to the second by selling off more players.

Tottenham will always dissapoint.

Arsenal will not finish in the top 4, and Tottenham will probably not get into the top 10 again.

GUYS STOP MAKING FUN OF TOTTENHAM THEY ARE A BIG CLUB

Ok little bitch....winning glorified reserve matches means fuck all. Bottom line, Celtic is in the Champion's League again, and we have made the last 16 the past two years. Anything Tottenham has done in Europe pales in comparison to this fact. They can spend and spend all they want, and still European success fails them.

And until Tottenham wins a European Cup, they can shut the fuck up.

and back to the failure....Gazprom IS the owner of Zenit as majority shareholder.

"Gazprom has invested an estimated $100m (£51m) in Zenit since taking a controlling stake in December 2005. Its enormous wealth also gives it huge political clout in Russia and large areas of Europe.

It also has an indirect connection to English football too - in September 2005 it paid Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and his business partner $13bn (£6.5 billion) for their stake in the Sibneft oil company. "

Sibneft = holding company for Gazprom btw. Its the company that was used to buiy out the russian oligarch's that went afoul of vladimir putin.
