So, I'm about to start another season in hockey purgatory. Florida, not Pittsburgh. The arena is nice, but as anyone who watches hockey knows, the team is for shit. The only enjoyment I get is watching the decent teams from the east come here and pound on these fools.

All other things aside, I cannot begin to understand why they insist on having cheerleaders for the team. I've been to games in other arenas and this is the only hockey team I've seen with a cheer squad. Is this something that the shitty teams do or what? Anyone else out there residing in a weak hockey market have the same experience?

dallas has cheergirls.

I wouldn't call St. Louis a weak market because we have a strong history (longest consecutive playoff appearances in any sport, yet never a cup) but we're deff going through a rough patch and ownership is really trying to bring fans back.

I'm going to be a loyal fan till I die, but a lot of people here are not although with the Cards failing in Aug/Sep again and the Rams being just a big bucket of fail I can hope.

I can only see my team once a year since I live on the east coast now.

I have to wait til the Avs play the Hurricanes in February.

Cheerleaders in hockey is just stupid. The only reason football has them is to gloss over the homoerotic hump fest on the field--oh and because nothing happens for long periods of time. In hockey stuff happens, constantly. Also, since the game should be played in freezing cold weather and frost bit nipples make no one happy cheerleading is some dumb assed american cancer that's killing hockey.
