hay guys, don't mind me.

sonics got rid of their veteran players for all young ones. They realize they suck, so they're building up for the future.

Sonics win for best trade of the year. They have a great gm for the way he set them up for success for the next 10 years. 13 draft pick over the nect 3 years. 6 of them in the first round. 3 big expiring contracts next year. Brilliant job.

And by the time they draft all these players, they'll be in Oklahoma City.

Who cares about Seattle anyway? NBA is going to have a very good team there just like they need.

Seattle 24th largest city
Oklahoma City 30th

Seattle: Microsoft, Starbucks, UPS, Costco, many more
OK City: shit

Seattle has not been able to support a team. OK City did ok in it's trial run. And when they put a good team in there they will be more successful. It is not about what city is bigger, it's about where they can sustain a team. And get a stadium.

It's hard to sustain a team when the team sucks. Plus the terms that Clay tried to work with the City of Seattle was unrealistic. He wanted to move the team since he bought. So its not whenever they can "sustain" a team or not.

These owners are not stupid. They are rich for a reason. He is going where the money is. He will make more in OK than he could in Seattle. That is the bottom line. Seattle had their chance to keep the team and they failed. Reasonable or not, the man is going to follow the money.

I hardly say they had a chance. The man wanted to move the team from the get-go. Seattle couldve built the best arena in the world and Clay would still find a reason to move the team.

Make more in Oklahoma? You got to be shitting me

The Sonics shouldn't leave. I can't imagine Seattle without an NBA team.

The Sonics have a lot of history in Seattle and seeing them leave for OKC will be quite sad.

The Sonics have to deal with competing with the Seahawks and Mariners part of the time and a mostly apathetic fanbase, while OKC has no pro teams at all.

Also, there are a handful of corporations based in Oklahoma City. Probably not as many as Seattle, but OKC is a little smaller and has a smaller metro area, so it's to be expected.

Sonics won't make /more/ money in OKC, but they'll be able to wring enough money out of the taxpayers for freebies that it won't really make a difference.

It's more David Stern's problem that his league is losing the 14th largest media market and replacing it with the 45th because the team owners depend so much on subsidies to not go bankrupt. In the long term, it's media exposure that generates fans and sustains the league.
