Dear /sp/,

Consider this. My favorite teams I was taught to like by my father. I don't believe this is uncommon, so I'm hoping you sympathize. I didn't quite realize it at first, but I noticed that many of the teams I follow enjoyed success in the mid-70s i.e. when my father was a teenager. While these teams are both from the state both my father and I have resided for most of our lives, I'm worried that he may have been a bandwagoning faggot. More importantly, I'm worried he may have passed the taint of bandwagoning faggotry to me.

Tell me, /sp/, is my inherited bandwagoning forgivable?

No.

Choose your favorite team and fucking stick with them.

The only time bandwagoning is allowed is if your team has been eliminated in the playoffs and you say "well i guess i'd like to see so-and-so win it". And even that's a stretch.

well if your father still follows the team after 30 years he is probably now considered a fan of the team, becasue I doubt the team has had amazing success for 30 years straight.

Well OP, ask yourself this

Do you find yourself completely losing interest if the team is struggling at all?

If so, congratulations! You are a bandwagoning faggot!

Are you and your father by chance Steelers fans? Eastern PA is full of 40-50 year old bandwagoners who still pull for the Steelers.

I myself have always been a Philadelphia fan despite no championships in my lifetime. A curse inherited through three generations (my grandfather saw the Eagles win the title in a blizzard in '48)

If the team you root for is lifetime above .500, you are a faggot.

I don't think so. Basically all my dad said was that me supporting any Original Six team is fine by him. He and my uncle grew up in Hamilton, but he was a Bruins fan and my uncle was a Habs fan. Both still are, despite epic fail from both teams since then.

...Yes.

I am in Philly, yet my favorite football team is the BRONCOS. John Elway was my favorite player growing up, I even wanted one of those plastic football pad set thing they used to sell for Christmas, but of course, they only had the Eagles. Had I grown up in the time of the internets, I probably could have gotten that. I did, however, get a Jersey about 2 months later when my father was able to grab one from some store. Wasn't an authentic, but I loved it.

>all my dad said was that me supporting any Original Six team is fine by him

Then he is an anti-bandwagon bandwagon faggot

Whether or not you are a douchebag depends on whether this choice to become a Broncos fan happened before or after 1997.

Yes. Liking the teams your parent likes is forgivable. Any team, any sport, any location, any time. Especially if you stick with the same team.

i inherited my miami dolphins fandom from my bandwagoning grandfather but my persistence over the last few years is surely worth something

I kind of did both. my dad grew up in NC when they had basically no pro teams. So hes a Lakers, Cowboys Braves fan. Im a Lakers and Braves fan since I was born but When the Oilers became the Titans I gravitated towards them for some reason. (I was like 10) but now Im a Lakers Titans Braves fan for life. I kind of band wagoned the Hurricanes when they won the Stanley but I dont follow hockey until playoffs

Yeah. Growing up, my Dad instilled in me that the Dodgers were the greatest team on earth and that the USA sucked at soccer and would never amount to anything. (This was back in the 80's) Luckily, I am no bandwagoning faggot. I wouldn't watch the Dodgers if they were playing on my front lawn, and the USA has quite a talented soccer team, the best in it's region and one of the world's elite.

The US has a shit soccer team which is good because if it was any good we'd probably have to listen to it overtake good sports here.

I was a bandwaggoner when I was a kid and didn't know any better. Then I pulled an anti-bandwagon move and started rooting for all of my home teams (Philly) in the mid-90s when only the Flyers were any good.
