Hay /sp/,

I'm a Patsfag and I'm really excited about next season's defense. Assuming they don't muck things up and grab either Gholston or Keith Rivers, the front seven will be formidable with a healthy Seymour, Wilfork, and Warren on the line, Vrabel and Gholston/Rivers on the outside, and a rotation between Bru, Seau, Hobson and Thomas on the inside.

The backfield is a little less solid but still pretty decent. Fernando Bryant and Hobbs are going to be the starters, with Merriweather and Webster as nicklebacks. Harrison and James Sanders sounds good at safety to round things off.

What does /sp/ think? (in b4 18-1)

They had a solid team last year too.

except for losing the super bowl

Last year's rush defense was overrated because teams were always down 30+ points on us until late in the season, so they always passed.

This is the thing Patsfags. It doesn't matter what your team does. The only important thing is the Super bowl.

I totally agree. The records don't mean shit. The thing is, the Giants got lucky this year, and they've had their day in the sun. The Pats will be back next year, better than ever and with an easy schedule they're on cruise control for 19-0.

NOW WHERE HAVE I HEARD THAT BEFORE

I wouldn't be so sure about them moving Thomas back inside. They might rotate him a bit but I think he's a Jack or Sam backer in the 3-4.

So, what team did you cheer for before the Pats won three bowls?

I'm gonna guess Cowboys.

Wes Welker is the only Patriot I can stand. He needs to go on another team so I don't feel guilty for liking him. Also I laugh at your shit offensive line

>>65941
Welker is a cocky sonofabitch. Another great player the Miami Dolphins wanted no part of. :(

First of all, big lawls at your team's offensive line because the Pats line is in the top 3 in terms of sacks (this season) at least. Second of all the combination of divine intervention and the Giants blitzing every play somehow managed to get them pressure on 12.

I agree about Welker, little white guys playing football fucking win.

They didn't blitz all that much. Justin Tuck is just a hellava player. How he didn't win SB MVP I'll never know.

or the fact that the giants have the #1 D-line

One thing's for sure, the MVP wasn't Eli.

The whole team was worthy of the MVP. Everyone played their part to perfection. Obviously they were going to give it to the QB, and I think he did deserve it. They all did. You could have given it to the kicker and he would have deserved it.
>> Anonymous
they are going to breeze through their easy schedule, get the bye, and because they were never really challenged during the regular season theyre going to be sluggish in the postseason and get embarassed in the divisional round

>>65983

I believe you have the patriots confused with the colts
>> Anonymous
>>65980
Any member of an offense that only scores 17 points doesn't deserve it unless he scored all those points single-handed, like Gale Sayers once did.

The defense had a more impressive night, the D-line was the best unit on defense, and Justin Tuck was the best player on the line, followed by Strahan. Hence, Tuck should have been the MVP.

Eli Manning winning it is just a testament to the lazy shitbags in the press box voting for the person they can write the best sports column about afterwards. Usually the QB, almost always an offensive skill position player.

Pats o-line is old. Evident when they almost lost to the Eagles, Ravens, Giants then the eventually the Giants. What are common of all those teams? A good d-line.
>> Anonymous
>>66107
The oldest starter on the O-line is Stephen Neal, who is 31.

Football Outsiders ranked their pass blocking and run blocking very efficiently per attempt. Pats probably have one of the Top 5 lines in the game right now, all told.

I'd say Green Bay has the best, because they've got the best tackle pair and their running backfield was dogshit for half the year last year.

Cleveland, Indy and New Orleans would round out the rest of the best lines, probably in that order.

New Orleans probably had the hardest job of the lot last year with Reggie Bush at running back and a short quarterback in Drew Brees.

Vrabel, Seau, Bruschi, Harrison...

Old Pats defense is old.
>> Anonymous
>>66122
Seau isn't old... he's ancient. I hope he comes back, just so I can watch a 40-year-old man play linebacker (assuming the Pats make the playoffs - seems like a decent bet.)

Anybody remember Clay Matthews? Man, there's something about those USC linebackers.
