Hey /sp/ here is a question that I don't remember seeing posted here, and I'm curious about. What player, of any sport, do you really like but find almost nobody else does?

Mine is Jay Fiedler, he was always a solid QB with consistent numbers, and most of all won football games. It was during his era in Miami that we could even call ourselves anything close to good.

When Pennington went down for the Jets I was really hoping he would step up and show his talent to the NFL, which he did until he got injured himself. I really wonder why he was given such a hard time in Miami and I seem to be the only guy on earth who respected his play.

Robert Smith. Awesome runningback who opted out at the peak of his career. At the time, people really dug him but I've heard virtually no one mention him since he retired.
>> Anonymous
Not trollling.

Tim Couch. I think he could have been very good with a good line and an actual running game. We never gave him a real chance with a good team.

And when he had a descent team, we got into the playoffs. Then he got injured and fucking Kelly Holcomb had a good game and he never got a chance again.

Vinny Testaverde. He's always been one of my favorites, and ever since he kept coming out of retirement, it's been a running joke amongst my friends and I.

I am really sad that he never got a Super Bowl ring. He came so close in 2006 with the Patriots. :(

I always liked Bobby Carpenter from the Dallas Cowboys. When Greg Ellis went down a couple of seasons ago, he filled in nicely and was a consistent tackler - but now that Ellis is back and they signed Zach Thomas it seems he's never going to start there.

jeffs the man. the 49ers are retards for replacing him with alex smith. the eagles let him go because they already had mcnabb, and now the buccaneers are jerking him around and not giving him a contract even though hes the first buccaneers qb in the probowl in like, ever (well maybe not but you get my point). assholes also call him a faggot (t.o.) because of his southern accent. he just cant catch a break

Remember that game against Buffalo where Bradshaw got his introduction last year? His helmet was ghetto and had one of the letters from the "NY" logo missing. He averaged like 15 yards a carry in that game with one insanely long run for a TD. I was totally blown away by him and I think he'll be a great asset for the Giants in the years to come. He's so fucking small and fast and powerful and he doesn't fuck around with running east/west too much, he makes a single cut and fucking turbos past everyone. Still, having a 265 lbs running back in Jacobs is awesome.

I'm not sure about what I said there about the Buff game being his first or having the letter missing on his helmet in that game, it WAS missing in one of his early games but I've no clue which one, or when he got his first carry.

You GTFO, its obvious he was valuable to the team just by looking at overall records. What was the record of the other Quarterbacks that started behind the same defense?

Remember the losing slide we went on the year he was injured, only to see him return against the Redskins with a 70 yard touchdown pass and ultimately put us back on the course for a winning season. He was nothing more then a cop out for people to beat on when the team went sour. You see how we've been since he left.

I don't know if anyone hates this guy, but he's certainly one of my favorites. I think generally he's overlooked because of his position... Gilbert Brown

Played DT for the Packers and used to plug the d-line up so no running back could get through. He single handly made Reggie White better by taking on two o-line and leaving White with a one-on-one matchup with Right Tackles. He also made the job of a LB much easier since they didn't have to shed blocks to get to the RB.
>> Anonymous

Not really. His TD/INT ratio was really slim and he would have worked far better as a runningback than a QB.

For the Giants he only played until october and then went out on a busted achilles and then was released at the end of the season. I believe he just retired after that. 6 seasons in the NFL... way way way too short for a guy who could have been one of the best.
