Pro Sports are more iron-clad, I only root for teams I have ties to.

But College Football has 119 I-A teams, and I can't pick just one. I admit I have a favorite team from each conference.

College basketball makes me literally go schizophrenic every February.

When I was younger, I always picked the vikings when playing madden, i liked all of the weapons, Robert Smith, Moss, Carter, CUNNINGHAM. So they became my favorite team, and I regret it pretty badly, seeing as they will never, ever, EVER win a championship =[

OP here:

Actually, when I was little, I used to love pirates (i was one like every year for halloween), anyways I used to play Maddon and all the football games with my older brother and I always picked the Bucs just because... as I got older they started to become my team and I've liked them ever since.

Thats sad, because obviously there are people who have grown up in places where they have no team. I think more often than not they pick the team thats closest to them city wise, but I guess if you grew up in some back woods area you have free reign on your team choices.

Boston Red Sox. I've been to New York and seen the Jets so that's one off my list.

I've liked Boston for a while because they beat the Yankees in the first baseball game I saw on TV. This was back in 98 by the way.

I like the Chicago Bulls because of Jordan obviously. Every NBA game I always go the Bulls. Nothing beats Pippin, Jordan and Rodman though.

I can't help it that Jerome Bettis was so incredibly fucking awesome in Madden 96.

I'm also a Blue Jays fan because Roy Halladay was one of my favorite pitchers when I still had a dream that someday I could become a big league pitcher. Also, one of my favorite sports calls of all time was Tom Cheek's call of Joe Carter hitting his World Series-winning walkoff HR. Fucking awesome.

I've never been to or lived in the city of any of my favorite teams. I'm from a small town and I'm a poorfag so I can't afford tickets/travel expenses to get to the cities of my favorite teams. I chose my teams because of who I liked to watch at the time and stuck with them.

So, am I still a bandwagonner because I've never been to the cities my favorite teams play in?
>> Anonymous
First of all let's define a bandwagoner.

A bandwagoner is someone who starts liking a team simply because they're doing well. A bandwagoner is also someone who has never been in the state where the team is located. A bandwagoner will often times jump teams if the team they previously liked starts failing.

You were right except for the whole visiting the state thing. I have been to Missouri, yes, but I'm sure there are a lot of people that just don't get to travel.

If they go to local games whenever their favorite team comes to town, I find that is perfectly legitimate fandom. Its just leaving a team when its doing poorly/only leaving the closet when they are winning that I disrespect.

Masshole here. Go Steelers! I picked up on the Steelers in Roethlisberger's rookie year because I like watching big QBs fuck up defensive linemen when they rush. I'm kinda sad that Big Ben has gotten much better at passing because now he doesn't try wrecking up their shit like that very often.

There's a chance I'll have been in it by this time next year though. My room mate and I are going to catch a Steelers/Browns game next year and I'm going to laugh at him a lot when the Steelers crush them. LOL Browns fans. (He's probably been to Cleveland, but he certainly never lived there.)
>> Anonymous
>>473536

Ohh yeah, and I stuck with them during their fail year a couple of years ago when Roethlisberger was sucking pretty hardcore. That bike crash really fucked him up.

I guess I'll see whether I'm truly a Steelers fan or a Roethlisberger fan if/when he goes to another team and they wind up playing each other. I'm sure I'll still root for them, but I'm not sure whether I'll root for them or Roethlisbergers possible new team. If he somehow winds up on the Giants, Colts or Broncos I'll be forced to loose all respect for him, but I don't see that happening. Otherwise it could be interesting.

Now here's something odd. I used to hate the packers because of BRETT FAVRE BRETT FAVRE BRETT FAVRE BRETT FAVRE BRETT FAVRE BRETT FAVRE, but now I don't mind them at all. The odd part though is that him being there didn't make me hate the Jets. Don't get me wrong, I certainly won't cheer for them, but I won't be cheering against them either unless they're playing a team I am a fan of and I'll be cheering for them if they play anyone I hate.

i live in pa and i admit to being a colts bandwagoner.
its not the all about the success, because if i wanted to bandwagon a successful team, itd be the pats, who i hate.
i think its more the way they carry themselves. year in and year out, theyre always towards the top of the league, and yet one rarely hears a peep out of them in terms of gloating.
like marvin harrison. pound for pound, he has been the best wr in the league for about a decade. and does he mouth off like t.o, randy, chad, or whatever dumb thug plays in the nfl? no.
in fact, i dont even know what his voice sounds like. same thing goes for reggie, dallas, addai, sanders or any of their other superstars.
i give credit to tony dungy for that. he doesnt put up with that shit.
the only prima donna theyve had really was edgerrin james, and they shipped his punk ass out to the desert.
