>> Anonymous
Lulz equestrian.
>> Anonymous
So shitty countries have a shot at some medals.
>> Anonymous
another "sport" that needs to be removed from the Olympics.
>> Anonymous
Jesus Christ, this isn't even the event where they jump is it? It's just the fucking horse prancing around, right?
>> Anonymous
>>So Great Britain can have a shot at some medals.

High starting difficulty, flawless execution. We have a new champion.

Dressage has been Olympic since 1912 that should be reason enough.

Sack racing has also been olympic once lol
>> Anonymous
I don't know why people complain about any sports at the Olympics. I myself think Baseball is one of the most boring sports ever, so I don't watch it. Do the same with any kind of horseback riding and stop complaining.
>> Anonymous
>>248088
and who was the winner?
>> Anonymous
>>248099
Had to be some American, since the 1904 Olympics (the only one in which sack racing has been Olympic) took place in St. Louis and virtually every Competetion was won by the USA.

So was tug-of-war!

HOLY SHIT, IS THAT FOUR FUCKING HOOPS?
>> Kilgamayan !2BklmILFiE
>>248098

Probably because baseball can actually be called a "sport". Even some of the stupidest events can at least be called "sport".

This is not a sport by any stretch of the imagination. There's no human physical effort involved whatsoever. Any of us could win gold with the right horse.

Tobacco Spitting was olympic too in 1904 lol
>> Anonymous
>>248130
Except you need to be the human choosen by the right horse. It's like being a dragon rider. Equestrians have a physical gift for horses that other people don't possess. How is that not a sport?
>> Anonymous
Have any of you ever ridden a horse?
It's not as easy as you think. The horse obviously plays an important part but the rider does too.
>> Anonymous
Can someone explain what the whole thing is fucking about? They are not even horse dancing, they are just horse walking, WTF?
>> Anonymous
>>248147It's like being a dragon rider.

It's official. /sp/ doesn't care about sports, just sports-related fantasy.
>> Anonymous
>>248147
>Except you need to be the human choosen by the right horse.
That makes pentathletes superior. They have to ride an unfamiliar horse.
>> Anonymous
>>248147
lol wtf dragon rider

that's why dressage exists. fuck yeah.

Well played Deutschland.
>> Anonymous
shouldn't Mongolians be good at this?

Or is there no killing stuff from horseback event
>> Anonymous
>>248809

Sadly, no. But if there was, it'd totally be the most popular event in the Olympics.
>> Anonymous
>>248809
>Or is there no killing stuff from horseback event
I'd settle for them chopping some heads off dummies.
>> Anonymous
Horseback archery is the sport of every civilization east of Rome

that would be a cool sport
>> Anonymous
>>248843

raping the dummy's wife and family will be scored by a panel of neutral judges on efficiency, power, and technique
>> Anonymous
>>248098
baseballs not in the olympics

Cross-country and jumping is cool, but dressage is about as interesting as synchronized diving. Dressage can remain apart of the overall Eventing competition, but it shouldn't have a medal all to itself.
>> Anonymous
Any exhibition sports this year?

my bad, i thought it was this year that they removed it, its actually 2012. i havent seen any news on it or on 4chan, so i thought it was this olympics

seriously synchronized diving is amazing

it's hard enough synchronizing sitting

>One of the most remarkable athletes was the American gymnast George Eyser, who won six medals even though his left leg was made of wood.
>> Anonymous
Some guy just had his 4 years of work ruined because the horse walked a bit faster than its supposed to.
lol dressage.
>> Anonymous
so is the dressage medal worth as much as a whole football/soccer team playing multiple teams to become the world's best in a world sport?
>> Anonymous
According to the IOC, Dressage is more of a sport than baseball.
>> Anonymous
>>249013
yes
>> Anonymous
>>249013
because the football olympic teams are the best in the world right?
there are only about 7-8 good players in the whole tournament...

dressage medals are worth about the same as a swimming medal.
>> Anonymous
>>249013
Medals aren't weighted. The winners just excell at their sport without having to compare to unrelated others.
You might also say a marathon runner does more than a 100m sprinter.
>> Anonymous
>>249074

doesn't seem right that the efforts of 10 guys is only one medal

and one guy can win eight
>> Anonymous
>>249099
Everyone on a team gets his own medal they are only counted as one on the medal table.

Phelps has the possibility to win so many medals because of the similarity between the swimming events and the fact that he is an excellent swimmer.
>> Anonymous
>>249056
Wrong. Half of Brazil and Argentina's players already represent the national team in world cups and such. There are many good young players on the Olympics.
>> Anonymous
>>248149
Shut up.
