Do you know how bad Hawai'i was when he got there? It was worse than quite a few FCS schools. The facilities of the team who played in the Sugar Bowl doesn't even match up to several teams in the Southern Conference ffs.

If anybody can turn SMU around, it's Jones.

any talented player in hawaii who didn't want to leave the islands would go to hawaii with good recruiting.
jones will go zero recruits at SMU, want to know why?
Texas
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
TCU
Baylor
Louisiana State
Arkansas

Texas high school athletes know their football, and they can stay in state and go to a real athletic university close to home or in the bordering states, I'm sorry but more than a decade of losing seasons will fuck you quickly in Texas college football recruiting, June Jones isn't a big enough motivation when you have coaches like Mack Brown, Les Miles, Bobby Petrino and Bob Stoops recruiting the real talent.

shit grammar is shit, but it is true that June Jones isn't going to win the recruiting battle where he is.

It's true that they had the advantage on Hawaii recruits, but there aren't that many D-I prospects in Hawaii. Texas, on the other hand, is overflowing with major conference prospects to the point that BCS schools can't identify and sign all of them. Texas high school football is serious fucking business, and Jones at SMU will have an easier time fielding a good team than Jones at Hawai'i. All Jones need to do is find a good QB, which should be easy considering hs system will have kids banging down his door. The rest should fall into place.

But that's my alma mater, so I'm a touch biased.

texas is overflowing with talent, but the problem is it is also overflowing with other schools, most of which are better than SMU football wise.

If North Texas can find enough talent to win their conference four years in a row, and win over 20 conference games in a row, then there are more things on heaven and earth, Anonymous, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Why the fuck would I go to Texas and be a third stringer, when I can go to Houston and be a starter? There are thousands of recruits and only a handful of 'top-tier' teams... and those don't always get it right.

Just look at Michigan.
