With our beefed up offensive line, Heisman-candidate Beanie Wells, great pocket passer Todd Boeckman (who will hopefully stop throwing interceptions), an outstanding defense (we were the best defense in the country last year and only lost one starter, Vernon Gholston), and maybe Terrel Pryor to run a dual-quarterback system like Florida used against us in 2006, we could very well upset USC.

The way I see it, we have a championship-quality team. We just got there one year too early when we went last year, we weren't ready. Hopefully we don't fuck up and blow our chance. No one seems to want us to even make a BCS bowl game, because apparently being the second best team in the nation means you suck, eh? I wouldn't mind a Rose Bowl victory either though.

As for my other teams...

Yes I do remember, and I remember that their first touchdown should've never happened. It was easily one of the worst calls I have ever seen in college football. And unfortunately Tressel was too timid to challenge it, which is completely beyond me.

Here's the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vmvbgkQASk

Now, I don't want to discredit Illinois. They were a great team who played a great game, and we played like shit, so even if we pulled it off it would've been a very shaky victory. But that bullshit call that led to a touchdown when Illinois only won by 7 points makes me wonder.

Besides, remember what happened when USC played Stanford last year? I don't give a shit if they had injuries. It's still one of the greatest upsets in the history of college football.

It was definately a bad call, I think everyone can admit that. However I was pretty amazed OSU didn't show their strength in the rest of the game - particularly the 4th quarter.

With coaching changes and power shifts in the Big Ten, a lot of games will have a few unpredictable elements this season.

Nonetheless I'd pick OSU to take Illinois this season lol.

your fuckin stoned,

tennessee has officially caught up with the hators in terms of athleticism, if florida hasnt found a runningback that can function in the kind of environment that a neyland stadium creates, i give this one big to the vols, if...IF they have, maybe florida wins.

but in my honest opinion a transfer from USC and a freshman are gonna lose their shit in neyland stadium,

tennessee will beat florida, but georgia will beat tennessee, but florida will beat georgia. you know, revenge for last year. all three teams will finish with two or more losses. whoever goes to the sec championship game depends on how the teams do against the west, but UGA is NOT going to the national championship game, the media has really inflated this teams potential, they are very young, talented, but just too young
>> Anonymous
>>19755
young?
that "young" team was the hottest team in college football at the end of the season and next year almost all the starters (depending on spring practice) are going to be juniors and seniors, only hole Georgia has is their kicker left.

Florida is going to be just as hot.
they're going to have a defense that matches their offense and might make a championship run as well.

Tennessee is losing their offensive coordinator.
and thir starting QB. they are going to lose more than 4 games in my book.

Who's QBing the Vols? I'm an Arkansas fan, so this is pretty impartial. In an early season SEC game, knowing who your QB is and how you're going to score is important. The Gators have the best QB in the NCAA. Which means that barring collapse the only team they should have trouble with is Georgia.

I'll go ahead and make a prediction...

The national championship is going to be Georgia and whoever wins the OSU/USC game, and Georgia will lose in the championship.

I go to Ohio State, and I think basically the whole year is riding on the USC game. I think OSU will match or beat USC in skill, and we actually play better on the road than at home (see Penn State, Purdue, and Washington games last year). I honestly think we will beat USC, but I won't be TOO upset if we lose. It'll be the best game of the entire season, even better than the championship game, regardless of who wins.
>> Anonymous
>>20138

No way App St wins this game. Michigan got caught flatfooted, LSU won't

>>20359

It would be a god damn miracle/tragedy if osu got to the national championship again
>> Anonymous
>>20384

2006, Ohio State had the talent to win, but lost because their heads got inflated with all the talk of them killing Florida. They treated the trip more like a vacation than a business trip and weren't nearly focused enough on the game.

2007 was our rebuilding year. We lost a ton of starters on offense, such as Troy Smith, Ginn, Pittman, Gonzolas...we were supposed to not be that great. But Boeckman and Beanie Wells really stepped it up, and our cream puff schedule helped push us to go 11-1, and that one lost really shouldn't have happened. We were a great team, but really not good enough to play LSU...we got to the championship one year too early.

And that's why I say I hope we go THIS year, because THIS is the year that we have all the talent on the team. THIS is the year we should have gone, not last year. And it would be a shame to see such insane talent go to waste. I know you guys are sick of seeing us in the national championship, but we can actually win this year (especially if we don't play a god damn SEC team, who we're cursed against).

And you can talk all the shit you want, we've been to the BCS national championship 3 times since it was created. Ohio State, USC and LSU are the best programs in the country consistently since the BCS was created.

LSU has a pretty rugged schedule this year seeing Auburn, Florida, away.

I pretty much agree with your prediction except I honestly think LSU will take Georgia because of the home field advantage.

Only reason Auburn wins is ref's will blow some call. Like you said, every year.

with Florida, I think Tebow won't have as good as a season as he had in 2007, he'll still be good, but I don't think Tebow Left (or right) will work as much.

It seems likely LSU will go 9-3, but I think they have a good chance to go 11-1 if the cards fall right. But we all know, Les is cursed with 10-2 seasons. I think LSU will take Georgia in 2008, but has just as likely a chance to mess it up against someone like South Carolina or Arkansas, or hell even Miss St.

prediction: poll voters will come to their senses this year and realize that OSU playing an SEC team three years in a row might lose them credibility. thus it will be a pac 10 or big 12 team vs the SEC this year.

I completely agree. The problem is that the Big Ten can't seem to get any better. I don't know if they suck at recruiting or what, but Ohio State pretty much runs it. Penn State and Wisconsin will be pretty good, but certainly not BCS-worthy. At least Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Illinois should be ranked.

Ohio State really needs to either win or play well against USC to show their skills off.
>> Anonymous
>>20504
My only real reasoning is that maybe he'll catch some post-heisman big head, or teams catch on to Florida's playbook more.

it's mostly blind hoping. I also think Florida is going to take Georgia this year, I really don't think Georgia is THAT good.

but if NCAA football is a nuts as it was in 2007, I really don't have any good predictions. I don't think many games are POSITIVE wins anymore and the teams should play that way too
>> Anonymous
>>20470
It's not playing an SEC team that kills us. It's all the breaks that the SEC teams get. Home field advantage every year (can we PLEASE get a championship in Wisconsin and watch how fucking great LSU does up there, not 5 feet from their home stadium?) and about a month less down-time.

09/06/08 - West Virginia - W, a very close win, but WVU's defense lost a lot of starters and that will make all of the difference in this game.

12/06/08 - Conference USA Championship against UTEP or Tulsa - W - Will be held in Dowdy-Ficklen against UTEP or Tulsa. If it's UTEP, it'll be neck-to-neck. If it's Tulsa, they'll probably lead early, but we'll quickly overtake them.

Georgia is that good but they don't always play to their potential early in the season for whatever reason. Richt seemed to turn it around in a different way in 07 though than 06. Stafford's true frosh season he had to get used to SEC defenses, by the game at Auburn it was on... 07 they just came out completely flat a few times so Evil Richt was born and he's undefeated so far. Nobody was playing better than them to end 07. And speaking of UGA...

You want to schedule a home and home, do it but stop crying because nobody in their right mind wants to play a BCS bowl game on some frozen tundra. LSU lucked out BCS schedule wise no doubt but it does rotate and they still waxed that slow 11 ass just like Fla the year before and would have regardless of location. And before you undoubtedly try to throw the same tired ass "SEC doesn't travel far" excuses know that UGA is going to AZ St this season, Colorado next, and had a 2-1 scheduled with Cinci but they backed out. Do you really think it's just the SEC teams that can't get this done schedule wise? Georgia's been trying to get some together for a while including a certain big name 'big 10' team but our AD joked how it always seem to fall through on the other end. Because regular season games are the same as championship games rite, hurr. And I was bitching about having to go down to Louisiana (pretty fucking far away from Ohio) while LSU travels about 3 miles.

I can definitely see this argument. In 2006, Ohio State AND Florida both traveled far. In 2007, LSU pretty much had a home game.

I guess it's not their fault though since they didn't know LSU was going to be in the championship.

Wahhh wahhhhhh. Like it would have mattered. Any top tier SEC team would haved raped your suckeyes, if they played on Mars or the moon. And yeah, LSU got lucky with the schedule, but again, it rotates so quit looking for excuses. You should just be thanking your lucky stars some yankee writer fag that doesn't deserve a vote and some senile coaches that dont watch the games anyway let you get buttfucked on national television two years in a row. You're gonna finally have to work pretty fucking hard now to EARN a 3rd time... nobody respects you guys anymore. Forget LSU getting to play close to home, the fact your weak ass team even made it to the mNC game again just proves how broken the system is in the first place.

And you are why I hate SECfags, get out of your "We're so good" delusions. I don't think anyone in the SEC realizes that a conference where a team can never go undefeated doesn't make it good. It means every one of the teams sucks.

Apparently you have never seen Ohio State play in 2006 or 2007, except in the national championships.

See this post, this explains why we lost the two championships:

>>20470

We should've won in 2006, but we fucked up. We were too young in 2007, we shouldn't have made it...2008 is the year we were supposed to. But all the teams above us suck too hard to not lose to shitty teams, so we got in by default. Again, I say, we DID NOT deserve to go in 2007, but if you think we don't deserve to make it next year, just watch one of our games. We'll show you how to play football.

OSU sucks and can only beat teams that are not rated in the top 10. If anybody would like to argue please tell me the last time the beat anybody in the top 10. Because I know the answer the 2003 national championship. Get over your selfs Your not that good.

Predicting that the Baltimore Ravens will go 12-4, if we can get a decent QB.

You OSU guys can try and explain away why you really were the best team in '06, but fact is you had 80 total yards of offense, one offensive score, and got torched by Leak and friends all day.

I don't know if he saw you play, but i watched 6 or 7 games.
what is up with the 1960's offense?
look at how slow you guys are on defense.

that shitty non conference schedule last year made you guys look like Hawaii in the BCS.

I love your ignorance.
what you basically said is, every NFL team outside of the 1972 Miami dolphins was shitty.

you do realize that the SEC has more players in the NFL than any other conference right?

seriously? he's right. if no one can go undefeated in a conference, its because there's too much competition, not too little......

What does it say about the same conference that three times in the BCS era a team that hasn't been undefeated in it won the national title (and one of two teams who DID go undefeated wasn't even given a shot at it)?

because we dominate out of conference.
>>20748
They did beat Texas when Colt McCoy was in his second game in a 1 v 2, and they beat Michigan, which came from the same sucky conference in a 1 v 2. Ohio State is good, they recruit well, and they're well coached. They just don't have the competition weak in and weak out that makes a good team great. Slapping around the 9 weak sisters and Michigan every year doesn't prepare you for a team that plays a dangerous team every other week. That's why the SEC is the best league.
