Davis doesn't want a good head coach. He still play out this fantasy that he can be the head coach in Oakland so he always goes out and signs the guy who's least capable for the job in hopes that he will listen to whatever he says.

That's why he picked Cable for the job, and that's why he picked Kiffin in the first place. The Raiders will never be good again as long as Al Davis has air left in his lungs. Even after the old bastard draws his final breath, you know they'll still suck for three or four more years as residual effect from Davis' tenure.
