Im expecting big things from Portugal, but then again they always promise big stuff and choke out. Just like Netherlands.

I think Italy and Germany are serious contenders for this, maybe Spain if they change the manager.

France is a dead horse.

Well, Spain has by far the best squad, but they usually choke in the knock-out. Italy, France, Greece and Croatia are the other favourites in my book. Portugal and Netherlands won't make it out of their groups.

Yes.

Top two advance out of each group, for a total of eight teams in the "knockout rounds." Each group winner will be paired with a corresponding group runner-up in each quarterfinal match.

And those brackets are correct for the pairings and venues...dates are right as well.

what's the big deal with Spain? Torres is ok but actually gets a bit nervous in big matches (see champions sem-finals). Joaquin? don't make me laugh, he is average.
Xabi Alonso? good one but that in very good shape. Xavi? Iniesta? see Xabi Alonso
Raul? still has good finishing but won't do much against thight defences.

Best team atm? i would say Russia\Italy\Portugal

puyol is experiened but lacks the speed and strenght of other defenders, ramos is good but not that great and plays as rightback.

Russia, imo, has some young talents like Arshavin and Pogrebnyak, plus, Hiddink is pretty experienced in Euro's finals..

Italy, it's not that i like their style it's just effective, doesn't matter who plays they always come with a pussy style which made them world champions.

France, very experienced team and full of niggers, i hope they stay in the groupstage.

Portugal, some class players but really lack a striker unless Ronaldo takes the role.

Then there's Czech Republic but without Rosicky or Neved im not sure they will be a threat.

Either you don't know shit about football or you've been living under a rock for the past few years. Spain is by far the strongest team in Europe, and is probably just behind Argentina in the world. Casillas, Ramos, Puyol, Xavi, Cesc, Iniesta, Torres, Villa,...what does Portugal have? An out of form Deco, an overrated faggot Quaresma and a guy who never delivers in the big games in Ronaldo. Italy is a great team, no matter how much you hate their style, but Russia and Portugal are 2nd rate. At best.
>> Anonymous
>>100713
ok make it Spain Vs Portugal, but imo none will make it through the semi finals.

GK: Casillas - spain wins
RB: Bosingwa\Miguel > Ramos - portugal wins
RL: no idea > Spain wins prolly coz PT will play wit ha right footed
CB: R.Carvalho = Puyol - ok draw
CB: Pepe\B.Alves > otherfag - PT wins
DM: Xavi\iniesta > dunno - Spain wins
OM: Deco < Cesc - Spain wins
ML: simao\nani\quaresma > dunno - PT wins
MR: simao\nani\quaresma > joaquin - PT wins
PL: CR > Torres - PT wins

but not much of this matters coz both kinda suck as a team, and in a possible direct confront, details would determine the winner, as usual.

Portugal -> best manager nowadays. Luis Felipe Scolari did take them to their best place in WC since 1966. And they have Cristiano Ronaldo. And Nani. I think that they're going to do pretty well.

Spain -> great team, but never delivers. Never.

France -> Without Zidane, they're pretty much NOTHING. ZIDANE, J'ET AIME!!

Croatia -> their best player EVER is brazilian. 'Nuff said. (And he's got a broken leg).

Italy -> mate, where's me strikers? Inzaghi? OOOLD. Gilardino? AWFUUUUL. Totti? Doesn't play with the national team anymore.

Netherlands -> they think that they're still living in 1974. COME ON, LADS, "CLOCKWORK ORANGE" MY ASS!

remember before the 2002 world cup how everyone was talking about how epic the Argies were? That's the fucking truth.

The problem with Spain is that every team that plays against them knows that is better to let them have the ball, stay 10 players in his own field and wait to steal and counterattack.
But that tactic is useless when Spain is fully concentrated and don't make stupid errors. That don't happen very often.
Anyway, I'm looking foward for his games in this Euro, I would like them to win it but I think that they are gonna get rapped in quarters or the semifinals.

Spain = the bookies friend.
They always look fantastic on paper and alot of people tip them for a good run.

Problem is, they never ever function well as a team. Spain is too fragmented. The Catalans and Basques especially couldn't give two fucks about the Spanish team. They look really good again this year but don't be fooled.

I'd like to see Portugal or Croatia win it, Croatia especially as they play nice football and have good spirit. But it will probably be another boring tournament won by Germany or Italy. I think Raul has had a falling out with Aragones. He wasn't able to get into the first team anyway with Villa and Torres in the form they're in (which is fair enough) and he's not the type of player that likes to be on the bench. He's not that big a loss to be honest, Van Nistelrooy does most of the goal scoring at Madrid.

lol England has the best league in the world, everyone knows that, much faster pace, tougher, referees let the game be played, unlike foreign leagues with free kicks so frequently. But shame we can't have the best national side, but Torres should clinch it for Spain, but im thinking Sain vs Portugal in the final, the other national teams are relying on experience of older players rather than going with newer younger players who are used to how the game is played but the older ones cannot keep up like the italian league, alot of senior 30+ players and it's not a very exciting league at all.

Good luck everyone!

you guys really do believe this, don't you? i won't say you don't have the strongest top 4 atm, but the best league? that's hard to say, when the other 16 teams are at the same level than the luxemburg first division
>> Anonymous
The other 16 teams are probably equivalent to the likes of seville or another similar team, the reason they look bad is cause the top 4 could eventually be ruining this league by the money freak owners, personally i don't think it's fair but that's way it is.
>> Anonymous
>>104611
Lol no. If you guys are using the CL to say your top 4 are the best in world, because you had 4 teams in the last 8, lets use the UEFA Cup to see how the rest of the English teams are doing, with their equals. Should I tell you, or can you guess for yourself?
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
Portugal can count on the dribbling skills, the pace and excellent form of CR, but the rest of the team is doubtfully going to support his play properly.
Spain has got by far the best team in this moment, players like Cesc, Ramos, Iniesta and Torres are leaders of their field zone, but the national team needs a coach that's got balls.
Nederlands is awesome in the attacking phase, but where's the defence? You can't only attack, or you'll end up like Real Madrid post-2002.
In the last Bundesliga match, Toni scored his nth hattrick, getting to 24 goals this season in the leage. Add 10 Uefa goals, and you have the best center forward at this moment. Other forwards can boast very good form, see Del Piero who's played his best season since the legendary '97-'98, Di Natale, who exploded at the age of 30, even though he's not that good at finishing. Plus, they've got a solid midfield, with a genius like pirlo and knee-breakers like Gattuso and De Rossi. Defence is not the world-cup winning one anymore though.
France can't count on Henry, who humiliated the world cup winners more than once, and Vieira, who's being one of the slowest players you can see on a football field. They've got young talents like Benzema, Nasri and Ben Harfa, but is that enough? Plus, their idiotic coach isn't calling up their best forward, Trezeguet, who'de even score by mistake, an incredible player.
Germany where boosted up for playing at home in 2006, they've got very good players, but noone can be called a phenomenon these days. They can only hope if the key players like Ballack and Klose are in good form.
>> Anonymous
>>104602

I'd say Everton, Blackburn, and Aston Villa aren't that bad.
>> Anonymous
Aside from the top 3/4 teams in England the Premiershp is quite poor - certainly compared with La Liga or Serie A. But it's cyclical - there's alot of money behind English clubs at the moment and they can attract the top international talent.

But alot of these clubs in England are now owned by foreign investors who don't care about the fans or about having a strong base of English players. Also alot of these club are now heavily in debt (ManU and Liverpool especially) which isn't good in the long term.

It's funny to hear English fan speak of other leagues as "foreign' when you look at teams like Arsenal who have I think one English player in their squad?
>> Anonymous
>>104613

Although that last bit is not particularly pleasant. Fucking stupid fucking ginger fucking Norwegian fucking idiot fucking own goal!

Trezeguet has been left out of the French squad. WTF?

Oh yeah, Henry has had a GREAT season this year. pick him instead. Fucking idiot Domenech.
>> Anonymous
I don't see why Trezeguet has been left out either, he's proven himself many a time and personally i think this could have been the last straw for him, the last chance to shine, he is getting on after all.
>> Anonymous
>But it's cyclical - there's alot of money behind English clubs at the moment and they can attract the top international talent.

That only goes for the top 4. If a player has an offer from any other English club, and an offer from a big club from another country, he won't pick the English club, because the chances of him playing in the CL are minimal if he does. Even if they offer more money to him.
>> Anonymous
>>104619

How do I miss PK to give Italy the World Cup?
>> Anonymous
Domenech clearly doesn't base his selections on form - as illustrated by his inclusion of Patrick Viera who can barely walk from one end of the pitch to the other these days. Trezeguet has scored 20 goals in 34 games for Juve this season which isn't bad at all - he's one of the top scorers in Serie A. Anelka and Henry should be in the squad ahead of him.
>> Anonymous
>>104636

I meant to say Shouldn't be in the squad ahead of him, obviously.
>> Anonymous
>>104630
How do i am the player with the best vision of the net that would score with any part of his body, at any speed and from anywhere near the goal?
Trezeguet, unlike any other player, only needs the ball in the area, anything more is superflous. Like Inzaghi, you can call him the anti-football, but there's no one, except the italian in his best years, like him.
>> Anonymous
>>104641
