Next captain? Assistant captains? I'm thinking Ponikarovsky and Antropov or substitute either of them with Steen.

Dominic Moore and Jason Blake have experience, but not with the Leafs, so I can't see either of them being picked.

Jesus, I just looked at the most current roster, and it's a bunch of fuckin' kids! Only five players who were born before 1980.

I'm thinking T.J. Hensick definitely has the potential to take the reigns when Sakic retires. He's a pretty strong talent, and he'll only get better.

As for the assistant, I don't know. Stastny? T.J. Galiardi? There are a lot of strong contenders, so only time will tell.

It's difficult to see that far into the future and pick out which guy will surface, but it looks like the Avs have plenty of talent for years to come.

Stastny will get the C in a few years after a veteran or two have sport stints, in my opinion. Hensick can take the A, and, perhaps Jones or Galiardi.

I don't know, man. I don't see Stastny getting much better than he is. Although the C isn't determined by pure talent, so you may be right.

I dunno, Stastny just seems like standard icon of our franchise's future, plus it seems that he has good leadership skills. I do see him getting better, though. >D

If you don't want to talk about them, GTFO of my thread.

The only guy I could see wearing the C for leafs is Kaberle, the thought of anyone else wearing it just makes me laugh. He never makes a bad pass or a bonehead move, always has his head up and is good at making those long ass hail mary passes up the ice when he gets the chance. And Moore would be a good A I think. Would be cool to see Toskala with an A or even a C. Hopefully Blake will have a better season this time around. However I think that things are gonna get shittier for the leafs before they get better unfortunately.

Go Leafs!

This is a bit off subject, but the departure of Sakic should leave quite a bit of money around for the Avs to use. Do you think they'll buy a goalie with it?

With the C in Stastny's hands and the other talent they have, I'd think a Netminder would be the best option for their leftover dough.

Toskala with a C? Do you even watch hockey, or did you mean someone else?

I could be wrong, but the last goalie to serve as captain was Bill Dunham in the 40s. And I'm positive that goalies aren't allowed to be captains or alternate captains anymore.

yeah the goalie, thats why i think it would be cool. It wont happen but with the rest of the selection on the leafs id rather go with toskala. Didnt realize goalies being'n C or A was disallowed though ;_;

What difference does it make? You ain't winning shit no matter who the captains are.

Umm Sakic just signed with the Avs last week...

Yeah, but he's fucking old. He's going to retire eventually, and it's going to be sooner than later.

I imagine this is going to be his last season.

Finger should be the captain.

Likely. Hopefully we can give him a good one before he goes...Everyone is saying Budaj won't be good, but I think he'll surprise us. And if that doesn't work out, I do like the idea of using the extra cash when Sakic leaves for a goalie.

Kubina

Ron Wilson likes him, Cliff likes him, and he played amazing in the stretch last year, leading by example with clutch goals
