Yep. It was a blown opportunity. As good as they are, Carolina can't seem to score in the first half of any game, but put 20+ in the second half. The chance at victory tonight was right in front of them, and they blew it.

Delhomme is a poor team's Garcia. Except he throws 10x the interceptions that even Garcia on his bad days does.

Panthers will never go anywhere till they commit to ball control, not just letting their semi-retard qb sling it.

I'd like too see what Garcia could do with Smith and Muhammed. I've seen what he did with Owens, and I liked what I saw. And that was when Owens was being keyed on cause the 9ers had no rbs and no other receivers.

Tampafag here, I'm a fan but I honestly hate my team. Especially my coach. Because of him we have lingered at the top of mediocrity and really haven't seen much improvement. Our games are painful to watch most of the time, but somehow we win enough to keep Gruden employed. Even though there is no chance of it I wish to god he would accept a Tennessee coaching job so we can grab a new head coach, preferably one who doesn't stock up on old QB's and then draft new ones. All that being said...

fuck yeah FIRE THE CANNONS!
>> Anonymous
>>486527
OP here

Yeah, everyone hates Gruden.
>> Anonymous
>>486527
sup Casualfag.
Look at Gruden's record when his team either ties or wins the turnover battle. (3 career losses. Yeah.)
That's the most telling thing about an NFL coach. It PROVES that their gameplan, when unaltered by PLAYER mistakes, leads to wins.

If you actually knew about football, you'd be happy with the coach your team has.
>> Anonymous
>>486554
>everyone hates gruden

everyone who is retarded, or doesn't actually understand how the NFL works, or the direct or indirect relationships between a coach's function and a team's result.

The Glazers love Gruden, and that's what matters. Yeah, those same "nobodies" that anything they touch turns to gold. But fuck them right? What do they know, they're only the best sports franchise owners in the world.
>> Anonymous
>>486558

Sup Statfag, you seem to have missed the big picture, we are still at the same place we have been for years. Mediocrity. Also yes it's well known Bucs defense wins games for em by being dominant and that has little to do with Gruden, thats Monty's job.
>> SPEEDRACER
>>486567
ouch. At least op correctly used the term underrated.

As for Gruden, he's a winner. He's a family guy (father works with team, brother - AFL all time everything leader coaches with him, his wife runs a lot of the Bucs charities now. His other brother is a world renowned doctor at the Mayo Clinic). He's fiery, he's smart, enthusiastic, and extremely media friendly.

Negatives: conservative. streaky player relationships (he'll bench bitches for nothing). Oventhusiastic - he's physical with players in practice, messes with them a lot. Egomaniac.

I'd say his pedigree, track record speak for themselves. Asides, most football insiders consider him to be a top 5 NFL coach, you've got to be retarded if you think you know something they don't or have better insight into the league and the behind the scenes things like coaching.
>> Anonymous
>they're only the best sports franchise owners in the world.

Especially since they like to screw the cities and fans that support their teams. Fuck off until you learn about their business practices. unless you are saying they are the best owners when it comes to their interests, then you can just fuck off entirely.
>> Anonymous
>>486572
let me get this straight. You claim that "statfags" are ignorant in their measuring Gruden by his winning record. Yet your one gauge of his being "mediocre" is... offensive statistics.

You are a casual moron, gtfo.
>> Anonymous
>>486591
oh, is this the business forum? I was here thinking it was about sports. If it were about sports, than I'd have to assume that by "best franchise owners" has to do with their uniform dedication to producing a championship product.

I'm a fan of sports teams cause they win, not cause they make money. You should rethink why you like sports.

Unlike college the nfl uses one thing to judge success and advancement to the Superbowl... that's Wins. Get lost in all your little stats you want but the number of wins to loses is the bottom line. We gave up a coach with a higher win pct. (Dungy) for Gruden. Oh boy, we've managed to do enough to not suck.

Please refresh my memory.

That's not the Pats, or the Kraft family. You sir, are wrong
>> Anonymous
>>486645

I guess Gruden built that team in his first year too, didn't he? Surely that wasn't a championship calibur team drafted years before, built up and then handed to a new coach was it?
>> Anonymous
>>486632
the NFL has this thing called a Salary Cap designed to prevent teams from dominating for extended periods. You should do some research into the Bucs and their cap problems circa 2003-2005. Until you actually learn what Gruden is/was and is/was not responsible for in terms of personnel, production and results on the field etc. you should just shut the fuck up. Him and Allen have taken a team that had to totally deconstruct an 02 championship team that was scheduled for 62 million over the cap in 03 and 78 million in 04. They had to clear out the busted salaries that McKay left hanging, something he's famous for doing. Now the Bucs are probably poised for back to back division championships (what's that, Gruden has 3 division championships in 6 years? 3/5 the team has in its history?) and have the most cap space in the NFL this upcoming offseason. That's called brilliant rebuilding, but I guess you're too retarded to notice.
>> Anonymous
>>486660
You're right, Dungy didn't have that same exact team for three years and barley even got over the .500 mark with it.

I was going to post something similar, I can't believe it hasn't been brought up since.

This is Kiffin's team, you ask any Bucfag in Tampa and 9 times out of 10 they'll say they have more respect for our defensive coordinator than our head coach. Without him, Bucs are shit and Gruden is fired long ago.

I remember when Dungy was fired though, pretty depressing. I'm glad he's successful over in Indy and got his ring. I think he still has family over here and his son died or some crap, shit sucks.

>>486719
Was that a joke post? This year they may be near the top, but they haven't been the most competative in the past by a long shot.
>> Anonymous
>>486765
all four NFC south teams have reached the NFC championship since the reallignment. Dallas has not. Washington has not. NFC south is in fact the most competitive. Nobody said anything about best.

I'm always sold on #1 rushing defenses. That would be the Bucs. Pit is #2. Also, they didn't lose to Oakland. Also, neither has been beaten by more than a single score (Bucs havn't lost by more than 4). Jets got raped 48-17 before a late garbage score against SD.

Learn to NFL, then talk.
