I really doubt he'll be back next year, and honestly, he should retire. Its unlikely that as a full time catcher, his average will ever climb above .250 for a full season, and will likely stay around .230-.240. His home run totals were never amazing, but expecting more than 15 out of him is a pipe dream. He might be okay as a backup catcher, but really, he should just hang it up. As for the Manny deal, he was one of the greatest hitters in Boston history, and will probably go into the HoF as a Red Sox player. That said, it was time for him to go. This year, we weren't going to win anything with him anyway, and he didn't want to be here, so why force it? I wonder how he'll do for the Yankees next year, provided Steinbrenner is stupid enough to sign him.
