EURO 2008: Greece vs. Spain Anonymous
Kickoff: 18:45 GMT / UTC - that's 7 hours after thread creation.

Like Switzerland vs. Portugal, this is a friendly match. It has no effect on the tournament.

Except the embarrasement when you dare to lose with a second rate team from one of the worst teams in the tournament.

What? L'pool would have to sell half their squad, to buy Villa. They could hardly pay ~26m€ for Torres, how do you expect them to come up with 50m€ for Villa?
>> Anonymous
>>169444

Trade Rafa Benitez for Villa. Hire Avram Grant.
>> Anonymous
Friendly? everybody is rooting for Spain to rape those fucking greeks.
Also, Greece will leave the tournament without scoring a single goal, becoming the worst football team since the creation of Liverpool
>> Anonymous
Greece will be defending for 90 minutes, causing the Spanish players to fall asleep. That will allow Greece to score their only goal in this tournament.
>> Anonymous
>>169628
>> That will allow Greece to score their only goal in this tournament.
LOL! Seriously, lol.

I keep seeing people saying Greece was the worst team in the tournament. Ok to be exact, we never had big names in our squad - and playing as a REAL TEAM we beat every superior opponent back in 2004.

Now tell me, why dont u say the same thing about France? Since Euro 2000, they're just keep failing in every tournament (well, they also failed in 2006WC). Or what about the biggest football failure ever, called England?
U seriously need to revise your way of thinking..
>> Anonymous
>>169739

>why dont u say the same thing about France?

we do, have you not been paying attention?
>> Anonymous
>>169739
because most enemies of greece are those fail-nations being afraid that someone could say something against them so they use to shit against us... fuck it...

>> Anonymous

>> Anonymous
Have fun watching those dirty Turks advance, you greekfags! go back to your boats and nailing foreign chicks...just get drunk and forget about it.
>> Anonymous
>>170216
no, i believe you're on your way home after failing to qualify from the group stage.

hahaha.
>> Anonymous
>>170254

Well yes, this is how football works. But where (or which) is your team, fag?
>> Anonymous
>>170261
/sp/, like most of the 4chan culture, is fucking anon you tool. who cares. you admitted to being a greekfag, that's your problem.
>> Anonymous
>>170222

Then wake up! because with the kind of football you guys have been playing the past years, I find it hard to believe that there is anyone else in Europe (besides the greeks) that likes your team.

Sympathy for the underdog can only take you so far.

Don't know if Otto is going to stay or not, but Greece needs to change their way of playing, the type of defensive football that took everyone by surprise in 2004, just doesn't work anymore, and it's kind of embarrassing to see a team play like that nowadays.
>> Anonymous
>>170276

Well, the only way to progress in these tournaments is to have a good defense and a good attacking line. We had good defence and some lucky goals helped us to win the cup

Anyway this stuff had happened before with the Danish team, back in 1992 (and IMO then was a much bigger surprise than ours). When the Yugoslavs were banned, all the Danish players were in vacations, and without playing any single preparation match before the tournament, they've won the cup!

Otto has been a great coach so far, but since his early coaching days he has a big negative: he doesn't like to change the teams lineup, especially it has some good results

We had to get knocked out of the WC06 and after a long pressure by the sport press and the Greek FA, then he was forced to bring some new players in the team (I believe that if players like Zagorakis and Nikolaidis were still active, he would have chosen to call them instead of some good young players!)
But he still did the same mistakes. As a Greek I still believe he should have left the team after the 2004 success. It would have been more easier for us to find a big coach these days and for him to stay at the peak of his coaching glory.

>>170306

Teams from small countries don't always have to play so defensive, just look at Croatia, functional/attractive football and it gets results.

Anyway, I hope the new blood does good for your team, and if Otto stays, best of luck you'll need it.
>> Anonymous
>>170325

hehe you're right, but Croatia always had top-class players (Davor Šuker, Vlaovic, Asanovic, Simic, Jarni, Boban, Boksic etc). They are someway the Brazilians of Europe ;)

Otto has renewed his contract till 2010 (then he'll be 70 years old) and after the WC (ofcourse if we'll qualify, he'll retire). Good luck to the teams which qualified to the next round of Euro 2008, and hope we'll see a good final ;)
>> Anonymous
anyone want to netplay Euro 2008 or PES 2008?
>> Anonymous
>>170325
The thing is, greeks do watch a lot of football, but not many actually play it. Basketball has many more participants here.
