Boston fought fucking hard to come back from 3-1 down to make it to game 7. They came from 7-0 down in the 7th inning in game 5 for fucks sake. All of you saying this year was a failure and Francona should be sacked are fucking idiots. Manny was a fucking house problem, his shit was fucking up the dressing room and Bay has been great since he arrived.

The Rays played an outstanding game and fair play to them and their young side for holding their nerve and closing the game out. I wish them all the best as a Sox fan in the World Series. They're the most improved team in Baseball by far this year and deserve their time in the sun. Well done Tampa, and well done Red Sox. Let's do this again next year.

Okay, not to be a jackass, but once Manny left Boston, they no longer had any of the top 10 most paid players in the league. The only people they pay heavy money for right now are Drew, who is mediocre and inconstant, Dice-K, who was actually worth the money, you've got me there, and Julio Lugo...who did not play half this season.

Whereas Papelbon, Youkilis, Pedroia, Lester, Ellsbury, and Lowrie came through the farm system and are making chump change rookie contracts.

Ortiz has a shit contract because he wanted to stay here, Lowell's contract is average, Veritek's contract is completely nullified by his shit batting, and I don't even know what Bay and Kotsay make. Can't be that much.

tl;dr the Red Sox don't fling money around like the Yankees, they invest in their farm system more than just singing big players

right, so they didn't sell out. when you don't sell available seating, thats not a sellout. this isn't neurosurgery.
>> Anonymous
>>419352

While the series was in Boston they opened up 6,000 seats that had been tarped over for three years. They're obstructed-view, the D ring basically blocks your view of up to half the field, but ticket demand was high enough that MLB did it (MLB runs all postseason games, the teams only earn revenue from concessions/parking).
>> Commissioner Red !5gFoSxriW2

The stadium was built for hockey, basketball, football, and baseball. The seats are perfectly fine for at least one of those at a time. Baseball has the largest field, so inevitably the upper seats are blocked off.

The Georgia Dome is identical to Tropicana Field in its engineering, but since it's not a baseball dome, its catwalks can be rectangular and thus seats can be arranged in the upper decks to avoid most obstructions.

Francona has managed the Sox well and has a lot to do with making the team as great as it is over these last few years. The Rays were simply a better team. If they hadn't made so many fielding errors, they would have won the series before game 7. The only thing I could gripe about was not putting Cash in during the later innings instead of Varitek, but that's a tough call either way.

Though I do feel like I have to root for Phillies as Philadelphia is at least a real city with some history behind it.

It'll be interesting to see how the Sox roster changes this offseason.
