when we had the Hornets, the games were always well attended despite the fact they were never good and we were frequently reminded by Stern that they were going back to New Orleans no matter what.

Only thing that has been announced is that there has been a settlement reached, no one has said what the terms of the settlement are. Also, the city council still has to approve the settlement for it to go through.

the fact that a settlement was reached is a huge hint that the team is going to pay the city and pack up their bags asap.

SONICS(?) CONFIRMED FOR OKC
>> Anonymous
SEATTLE -- The city of Seattle and the SuperSonics reached a settlement Wednesday just before a federal judge was to rule in their KeyArena lease dispute.

Terms of the settlement were expected to be announced Wednesday night at simultaneous news conferences with city officials in Seattle and Sonics owner Clay Bennett in Oklahoma City.

A source told The Seattle Times the two sides have been discussing a deal that would involve the Sonics leaving town for Oklahoma City in exchange for up to a $75 million payment to the city.

Bennett may not have to pay the entire amount if the city gets another team, the source told the Times.

At issue was whether the team can move immediately to Oklahoma City or must play out the final two years of its Seattle lease.

It's OK Seattle, we'll give you the Hornets once we earn enough good will from sticking it out in New Orleans. Besides, you know you'd rather have CP3 than Durant.

So, will the need to attract a NEW team finally be enough to get the City of Seattle to quit fucking around and build a new arena or note? The threat of losing their current team certainly wasn't enough.

I wonder who's going to take the fall for this.

SAY HELLO TO YOUR SEATTLE GRIZZLES. Hey, they even have bears in Seattle. I think, so it'll all work out.

So we get more than twice the amount of money Bennet offered us, we get to keep the team's name and we get rid of all those shitty players no one gave a fuck about anyway? Cool. I just hope Nickels uses that money to get a better arena and attract a good team instead of blowing it on coke or something.

If they keep winning, there is no way in hell the Hornets move. And from the looks of it, they aren't going to stop winning any time soon.

go look up attendance figures before you speak again. nobody bothered showing up until about 3/4 of the way through the season.

Anyone notice the fact that the settlement is good for up to 75 million (depending on how things play out), which is coveniently the exact amount that the city refused to put in on Ballmer's group's arena plan? I don't suspect Seattle will be without a team and arena for too long.

Also, as an OKCfag, I hope the new name and colors aren't Western/cowboy themed. It'll really put a damper on buying any gear.
