Who should Ohio State play next?

Here's an idea: Nobody.

They're the only undefeated team left except for a clearly overmatched Boise State. Everyone has a reason why they SHOULDN'T play USC, or Notre Dame, or again against Michigan. So I have a modest proposal: They're #1. The end. And in only 12 games, too.

Let everyone else play for 2nd. Michigan vs. USC would be a more interesting game, anyway. Because, y'know, we won't know who's gonna win it.

Somehow, I don't see the Big 10 passing up the extra 15 million bucks for getting two teams into the BCS series, or the National Championship game paying out the money to the Big 10 anyway to watch them take a victory lap around the field.

It's not like we know who'll win OSU-USC, either. I'm not saying OSU won't be rightfully, heavily favored, but let's let the teams figure it out on the field. OSU fans in particular should understand - remember how nobody, but nobody gave OSU a chance against Miami in the 2002 Fiesta?

Nah... Wisconsin is worthy of a BCS bowl too, but won't get it because a slot is being wasted on foregone-conclusion Ohio State.

If USC beats Ohio State this season, I will log back in and get myself banned by posting a picture of my glorious scrotum.

michigan wants to play usc believe me

Sorry but if you dip down to 1-AA to fill out your schedule, and lose to the only ranked team you face, you don't get to go to a BCS bowl. The SEC has a better argument for sending 3 teams to BCS bowls than the Big 10 does.

Thanks for the heads-up about your scrotum, though. I can turn image loading off the day after the game.

OSU's conference schedule = Michigan and garbage.

You can't really criticize a conference schedule, because it is what it is - the school has no control over it, other than the one or two traditional matchups that are guaranteed every year. At least PSU and Iowa were ranked when OSU played them.

So compare the non-conf schedules, since those are the games the school DOES control. OSU didn't dip down to 1-AA, they played the defending nat'l champs in Austin, and beat a better-than-their-record Cincinnati squad. OSU is the real deal, the Badgers just pretenders.

I'm not making a pro-Wisconsin argument. Maybe they don't deserve it at all. Fine, whatever.

My point is, fill out the 5 BCS bowls with ten teams, and leave Ohio State out. I bet those are better games than watching the Buckeyes rape whoever.

I find it hard for you or anyone else to make a case that Michigan/Ohio State II would be a boring rapefest. As secretly lopsided as the first game was, it was still very interesting, because Ohio State was never actually able to pull away - they merely won a war of attrition. Putting the two back together has all the makings of another interesting game, especially if it's played at a neutral site because of people (like myself) that claim Michigan would have won that game if it were in Ann Arbor.

Everyone else from USC on down, though, I can agree would be boring. Someone needs to tell USC that Leinart, Bush and White are all gone, so no one cares about them anymore.

And yet everyone's still talking about them.

I think USC can beat OSU. OSU is good but not as good as everyone makes them out to be.

Seconded.

Really, who has USC played besides some overrated and pussy ass teams.

I believe OSU is the only school the play a #2 team 3 fucking times in one year. Great team or one of the greatest?

>>24706
Or that could mean that all the number 2 teams were simply overrated. ZOMG LOGICZ

I think OSU should play VT,cus we would kick ur asses.

So you're saying Michigan was overrated? lolgtfo my internets please.

Well let's look at the current rankings. OSU beat #3 Michigan and #19 Texas. You can't count PSU and Iowa anymore since both have rightfully dropped out of the Top 25.

USC beat #9 and SEC West champ Arkansas, #10 Notre Dame, #18 Cal, #20 and Big 12 North champ Nebraska. They lost to a #24 Oregon State by the margin of a missed 2-point conversion.

We can talk underrated overrated whatever all day long, but (barring some UCLA miracle today) OSU and USC will face each other in the NCG and I like the Trojans' chances.

You like the Trojan's chances? please. If USC beats OSU, I will eat the internet.

I figure that the spread will come out at around 7-10 points, and a bet on USC to win will come in at around 2-1 odds. So I'll bet about $500 with the points, and maybe a couple hundred on the odds bet (depending on where the odds come in). I'll make a small profit if USC covers, and I win big if USC wins outright (I figure about 40% chance of that.)

I won't even hold you to your promise of eating the internet. Even though it's so meaningful to me.

Can't bet on a game that doesn't happen. Duh.

OTOH, the line on OSU-FLA looks to be anywhere from 7 1/2 to 8 1/2, so you can shop for the point if you're gonna bet it.
