Toughest sports in the olympics McMurphy
1: Gymnastics. Unlike all other sports besides swimming, you need to use all your body muscles in this game. You need a great sense of balance, and this is exactly why gymnastics athletes have the most beautiful bodies in all of the olympic games.

2: Swimming. Endurance, use of lower body and upper body muscles, and resistance in the water.

3: Rest is not worth mentioning.

Gymnastics is the hardest and most athletic /sp/ort in the world, not just the Olympics

Boxing still reigns supreme.

And Judo>Gymnastics.

Same or higher level of balance, needs all body muscles as well as more stamina, and requires a tremendous amount of quick thinking and intelligence.

A sport is only as tough as its level of competition is.

Pentathlon. It might have less disciplines than Dekathlon but demands a greater variety.
Shooting+Riding+Swimming+Fencing+Cross country running is fairly demanding.

What about synchronized swimming? That combines gymnastics and swimming and thus should be atleast as tough as them.

They don't swim much in sync swimming. That's more like synchronized floating.

It doesn't need as much power but you still require a lot of endurance since you don't swim fast but you stay a while underwater and can't just float. And don't forget the synchronity, few other sports have that.

How is that a cliché? Who the fuck says that with any regularity?

Anyways it is true. In sports, competition determines difficulty, making this thread stupider than most threads on /sp/

Rowing is by far the most physically demanding olympic event, either that or marathon

Water polo.

It requires the physical stamina of swimming combined with the strength and agility of basketball and soccer

Dur... Marathon and cycling road race?

You try doing that in 90 degree heat and humidity.

But it lacks the grace of synchro. Water polo is tough but it doesn't require complete control of your entire body like gymnastics.
The only thing that is needs that others don't is the ability to react since it's against another team not against the clock or judges.

Marathon - one long run in the sun, or smog. Heat is worse than water.Road race roughly the same.
Decathlon - sport(s) of a true Olympian.
400m hurdles - can't help but look a little retarded trying this one.

>Decathlon - sport(s) of a true Olympian.
Decathlon isn't that special, it's running, jumping and throwing.
Of course, doing it two whole days is troublesome but not as diverse as Pentathlon.

>400m hurdles - can't help but look a little retarded trying this one.
Racewalking is even more retarded. walking 50 km in 4h without taking both feet of the ground. You can't beat that.
