Rays' contract lengths Anonymous
There seems to be some confusion over when the Rays will be losing their key players to free agency. Here is the list of years that members of their organization will become free agents.

2017: Evan Longoria
2015: James Shields, David Price
2014: Matt Garza, Willy Aybar, Dioner Navarro
2013: Scott Kazmir, BJ Upton, Andy Sonnanstine, JP Howell, Jason Hammel, Shawn Riggans, Juan Salas, Ben Zobrist
2012: Jason Bartlett, Dan Wheeler, Edwin Jackson, Jonny Gomes
2011: Carl Crawford, Aki Iwamura, Carlos Pena
2010: Cliff Floyd, Trever Miller, Troy Percival
2009: Rocco Baldelli, Grant Balfour, Gabe Gross, Eric Hinske

You can bet they're gonna re-sign Balfour. Baldelli will most likely be around too. I don't think Hinske or Gross will be here though.

What makes you think they won't be able to resign this guys? Do you remember when they signed Canseco, Castilla and Greg Vaughn over the course of two years? Sure, those guys were aging veterans but the franchise is willing to spend money.

Longoria is signed for 2016 at $11.5 million. That is the goddamn most brilliant deal in fucking baseball front office history.

In eight years, the AVERAGE salary will be at least $10 million. And they will be paying it to a future hall-of-famer.

If they win it all this year, then they better start getting some more ticket sales or else Crawford and Upton will be leaving for a paycheck as soon as they get free agency.

Well they have three more years to build up fan interest before that conversation is even necessary.

The Rays are certainly in a better position on account of having signed so many players to long-term contracts before the season, but they'll still have a lot of bookkeeping to do.

I remember when people were railing on the length of Longoria's contract.

Holy shit what a genius move.

In before that one Anon from yesterday credits Lamar for it.
