KState 45 Texas 42
Georgia 37 Auburn 15
Florida 17 Other USC 16
Arizona 24 Cal 20

Just need Ark to knock off Fla in the SEC title game, Ohio State to pound Michigan, and guess who's back?

We're #3. Gotta take care of biz against Cal, Notre Dame and UClownsLoseAgain, but sky's the limit.

If Ark knocks Florida off in the SEC title game I think Ark's going.

Seriously who has USC beat this year? Oregon? A Oregon team that is now shit, a Cal team that just lost, a Notre Dame team that hasnt beat anyone, an Ark team in the first game without their QB. if they run the table they still havent beat one decent team at the time they faced them. Oh and you lost to...Oregon State hahahaha, is that even a fucking team? Voters and the media are very biased towards USC, its sickening to watch Mark May on College Gameday.

Um, Arkansas?

Of course they don't deserve it if they can't knock off Cal, ND and UCLowns, but if they do...

Sure Ark didn't have their QB that day, but did that cause them to give up half a hundred to USC? Face it, the 'backs can't make the argument to be in the Big Game if USC is standing there right next to them with one loss.

Florida just fell behind in the polls and probably won't be able to catch up, so that leaves USC and the OSU-UM loser.

I guarantee that Fox will start making death threats to poll voters to prevent a re-matchup of OSU-UM in the BCS title game, because it would be ratings death.

I agree, so sick of hearing this team at the top of the charts. A good team but I believe louisville, lsu or rutgers that are higher up in the ranks could waste this team.
>> Anonymous
Then anti-Trojans better hope for Cal, ND, or UCLAwns to win. Because otherwise USC's combination of strong non-conference schedule, conference strength, and familiarity with the pollsters is going to have them back in the championship game.

Conference Strength? The PAC-10 has always been a shit conference. Beating Oregon wasn't shit, Beating Cal won't be shit since they are a 2 loss team right now, and beating UCLA won't be shit. The only thing that would be good would be beating Notre Dame. But still the SEC title game winner, would have beaten a tougher team. And lets not forget what their one loss came against. Oregon State.

I'll grant you that the Pac10 only won one game against the SEC this year, though that one game is becoming more and more important. The Pac10 has a good record this year against the Big10 and Big12 (only the UW loss to OK).

But let's take a look at non-conference schedules, because those are the only games the schools have control over:

Arkansas: USC, Utah State, Southeast Missouri State, Louisiana-Monroe
Florida: Southern Miss, Central Florida, Western Carolina, Florida State
USC: Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame

Hmm, the USC non-conference schedule includes the SEC West and Big 12 North winners. And they hung FIFTY COUNT 'EM FIFTY POINTS on that SEC school.

You can talk all you want conference strength, but the fact is that if USC wins out, the only team standing between them and a 3rd straight appearance in the BCS Championship game is the OSU-UM loser. And Fox will do everything they can to avoid a re-matchup in the Championship game.

If both Arkansas and USC win the remainder of their games, it'll be one of those 2 teams facing the winner of the Ohio State/Michigan game.

Not enough pollsters will jump Ark over USC unless USC loses, so if USC wins out they're in unless the Ohio State/Michigan loser hangs on to #2.

Arkansas would have a chance if they'd lost a close game to USC, but 50-14 is too much for the pollsters to ignore.

Ark also didn't have McFadden that game.

Yes, yes, we know that, it explains the 14. How do you explain the 50?

>The Pac10 has a good record this year against the Big10 and Big12 (only the UW loss to OK).

Pac 10 officials even admitted that the officiating cost Oklahoma the game against Oregon, and also admitted some fault in the Baylor-Washington State game if I remember correctly.

True, but 1) the further down the line we get, the more the pollsters will forget, and 2) the computers don't care about the officiating at all.

The way the BCS is set up, it seems to me that the only teams controlling their own destiny as far as the Championship game goes are Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and maybe Notre Dame.

Y'know, 1) above is almost worthy of Johnnie Cochran...

If USC runs the rest of their games, they'll for sure have spot #2.

If they lose along the way, and Ohio State beats Michigan, look for Michigan to stay ahead of Notre Dame (assuming they beat USC) since they won their earlier matchup.

In the event of USC's demise, look for Rutgers or the SEC champ (Arkansas/Florida) to possibly make a run at #2. Rutgers is already ranked #2 by the computers, and a win against WV could finally sway the voters.

I'm in no way an OSU or UM fan, but if USC were to make it to the big game they'd get completely annihilated...

Compared to what match between USC and these teams?

Ugh, that mess in '04 has really screwed things up. Let's just say that USC has played in bowl games with at least a share of the national championship on the line, for the past 3 years and possibly a 4th.

You know the BCS is f****d up when controversy is the exception and not the rule. Since the reason for the BCS's existence is to avoid the controversy.

Actually, the reason for the BCS's existence is something else entirely, but that's for another rant some other time.

If USC wins out, they get #2.

If USC loses, then the SEC champ gets #2, unless the SEC champ has 2 losses, in which case the loser of the Ohio State/Michigan game will probably retain #2.

However, if Rutgers runs their games and plays very well against WV, I think they'd be included in the discussion (assuming USC and SEC both with 2 losses.

Notre Dame has no chance unless they thump (not just win) USC soundly in their game.
