Boston Red Sox - ALCS 2004

Not that I'm a Bostonfag, I just am a Yankeehater.

But c'mon, trailing in the bottom of the 9th, down three games to zip, facing elimination by their hated division rivals... and then they WIN IT ALL? Truly great even though I'm not a huge baseball fan (go phillies)

There is no greater comeback than Istanbul. Especially when you remember how utterly shitty the squad was in 2005 (Pongolle, Biscan, Traore, Riise the own-goaling cockstash).

Maybe in other sports?

dont forget 18-1

marlins v. cubs, which cubs blew an over 9000 run lead and think one guy grabbing at one foul ball ruined it for them and not their shitty players. Also, this is coming from D-backs fan, who have won 1 moar World Series in the last century, which is still better than you. see ya 2305.

2006 AFCCG. Patriots up by like 20 at half, Colts come back to win it.

Before this game was played Rangers had 2 games in hand and were 6 points clear. Celtic went on to win every game after this to win the title. Rangers lost the title and the UEFA cup, going on to bawwww about it (still to this day) and trash Manchester in a huff.

This was after everyone wrote them off in March.

Yeah the Liverpool game was something. Although I think the FA cup semi final between the gooners and Manchester United has it all. We take the lead, then Bergkamp equalises, Keane (harshly) get's sent off, our goal get's dominated with Schmeichel pulling off some outstanding saves (plus a penalty).

And then after playing 109 minutes Ryan Giggs produces one of the greatest ever cup goals you'll ever see (runs half the pitch beats five players and smashes the ball past Seaman), its magnified even more in the context of the match (animooted for your pleasure)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cilUpB9UUfc&feature=related

Just epic. fucking epic.

WTF happened to David Beckham! when he was at united he was an amazing player, he used to smash goals in in free play, ok not loads per season but still got very important goals, like the last day of that season (99) against i think it was tottenham, and ever since he left he has seemed to have only one thing going for him and thats a good pass,

such a god damn shame

I remember a match against Newcastle and Tottenham (I think) - in which the score was 5-1, and ended at 5-5. It was on Danny Baker's Freak Football (a recommended purchase, if you can find it...)

Years ago, when I was in my senior year of high school, people would get together at my history teacher's room (The one teacher who had cable TV) to watch the soccer matches shown on ESPN/ESPN2 at lunch time, and to discuss the other games that happened. I remember walking in that day, and seeing the AC Milan faggot look like he learned he had AIDS on the day his mother died while his biggest enemy won the jackpot lottery. His girlfriend was "comforting" him with a hug, but he basically looked at her and said with his eyes "I just got raped."
That guy was a total asshole also, so he deserved to see his team choke.

This video is the best... Most epic comeback EVER, followed immediately by most epic FAIL ever.

You have to watch the whole thing to truly appreciate it.... My mouth was dropped open the whole time I saw it, and I think I almost shed a tear at the end.

I understand it is only high school (American) football... but seriously... watch this shit... you will love, you will cry, you will lol....

well yes, in football, NOTHING beats the Miracle of Istanbul. However, in other sports...
man, 1998 NBA finals.. as a Jazz fan.. taking it to the fifth game.. it was so good. so good. ;_;

>>392294
lol it's still comparable to Istanbul you butthurt redshite.

If you had come back to win the game 4-3 in normal time it would have been an uncomparable feat. As it stands I rate 99 higher. We got a non-plastic treble too.

real scousefag here, even as a "bitter" I have to admit the best comeback of all time was the murderers comeback in istanballs.

Naw united won that game through determination.

Liverpool played shit all night, then only tried in the last 20 minutes. Typical, your fans are so blind and stupid to the game they supposedly follow it's astounding.

Never seen a kopite in liverpool who can talk ANY footballing sense... Glory hunters don't deserve life.

Blue Jays down by 10 runs in the seventh inning to the Red Sox, at Fenway Park, and coming back to win it! June 4, 1989 (Yes, I'm an oldfag). Really turned our season around that year.

It's like I bet none of you fags here would remember the 4-4 fa cup draw everton had vs liverpool when we came back down from a goal behind 4 times, then won the replay.

Oh but we didn't kill anyone so I guess it doesn't count. Fans go games not play games and claim to be fans.

The highlighted extract on that says it all, back when liverpool fans were from LIVERPOOL.

This. Was it never done before or done once before? Going from down 3 games to win.

I believe it was done in hockey once or twice, but never in baseball until then?
>> Anonymous
I cant believe the amount of liverpool fans I have met who said they turned the game off after they went 3-0 down!

I have never met a Man U fan who said they turned the 99 final off, it was the tightest game ever, and 2 in 2 minutes is better than 3 in 75 then penalties

plus gerrard dived completely, 100% for the 3rd goal

Get out of this thread everton shite, you lot can't score in a fucking brothel. Stop talking about the 80's when you were MARGINALLY good you gobshites. Win something this decade, eh?

Or at least stop whining and accept your place in the table next to Bolton and Blackburn.

Fucking bitters.

>> Naw united won that game through determination.

Last minute lucky goal you manc shite. ADMIT IT. The first 80 minutes of that game Bayern cockblocked your nancyboy players. Then you got lucky once. THEN before they got over it you somehow scored again. Better team lost.

>> Liverpool played shit all night, then only tried in the last 20 minutes. Typical, your fans are so blind and stupid to the game they supposedly follow it's astounding.

You fail it. Any Liverpool fan will tell you just how shit the team was in 2005. We were so bad, that inbred lot across the park actually were above us! I feel dirty even remembering that.

(Everton would, of course, issue a commemorative DVD about the time they finished above the redshite, but hey, they're Everton. There's no rock-bottom of patheticness for that lot)

Most of us were expecting to lose.

The fightback happened because after 3-0 we were facing humiliation, and our proud history couldn't let us go home without at least scoring one consolation goal. We got three.

>> Never seen a kopite in liverpool who can talk ANY footballing sense... Glory hunters don't deserve life.

That's because we dont let mancs in the Sandon, dumbass.

United did it all (in 99) in the last three minuets of the match.

Liverpool did there come back over the space of 45 (75 + penalties).

They are completely different. Manchester was more epic while Liverpool's was technically harder.
>> Anonymous
>>394158

Coming back from 1-0 to win 2-1 is not particularly EPIC. Happens a lot in footie. It just happened to be during injury time after being battered by a superior Munich side in a pretty boring final.

Liverpool's miracle happened in six minutes. Then there was 70 minutes + of brutal, gruelling defending when milan were trying over and over and over (DUDEK DOUBLE SAVE FUCK YES) to get past a visibly exhausted liverpool side.
