With games against the ailing Seahawks and the god-awful Oakland Raiders coming up,

and the already once-exposed Patriots and the always-shitty St. Louis Rams after that,

capped by games against the 49ers, Chiefs, and the inconsistent JEST,

I think I smell an upset contender for the AFC East, gentlemen.

If you consider the Jets or Bills an upset pick...sure

Also the next 3 games are all in Miami, and Go Colts tonight.

I consider beating the teams who have consistently shellacked Miami to win the division an upset.

long time dolphinfag here
dear op you must be new to this team
if we had dan marino and don shula i would completely believe you but my expectations would be blown out of the water if we just finish at .500 this year
we had a nice sneaky surprize for a couple of teams but when it comes down to it our offense is still anemic at best and our defensive secondary needs help. give it a few years of solid drafting and trading from parcells and maybe we can talk afc east champs

We are 4-4, one game behind the Bills and Jets and NE if they lose tonight....we also beat the Bills and Pats and barely lost to the Jets, just because we were 1-15 a year ago doesn't mean we can't win the division this year.

The office is returning to fundamentals, a solid short pass game with a bit of running to open up play-action passing. The Wildcat gimmick has worn off and Miami is beating opponents by just playing basic, solid football. No star receivers burning corners for 50 yard routes, no hall-of-fame quarterbacks able to air out the deep ball, but just solid football.

I think, carrying this momentum on a young team that will improve as the season goes on, that they can trump at least 3 out of the Seahawks, Chiefs, Rams, and 49ers. The Patriots lose a key player almost weekly now, and the JEST are inconsistent with which team shows up every week. I'm not saying it's a guarantee because the odds are still stacked against them, but basic, fundamental football, lowering penalties and turnovers, and preventing the big plays, can chug Miami into a winning season and possibly the AFC East title as the rest of the AFC East struggles.
