So I'm pretty much a football noob. I keep seeing that the refs mark the ball down wherever is the furthest point the ball has traveled. That is to say, if someone gets to the 30, then knocked back to the 25, the refs mark the ball down at the 30.
However, I looked up the NCAA rules for 2008, and the rules say the ball is down where it is when the football player with the ball becomes down.
Can someone explain this discrepancy, please?
