So, how many series do the Diamondbacks have to sweep before people realise there's baseball outside of Boston and New York?
>> Anonymous
Some after the All-Star break would be nice. Or in the playoffs.

everyone DOES realize theres baseball outside of boston and new york except ESPN and Fox.

im a bostonfag and im sick of how they overhype everything. plus, i'll take remy and orsillo over buck/mccarver or the espn couple anyday.

You don't have big stars except for Randy Johnson. People want to see big phallic names like A-Rod and Wang.

ESPN, Fox, the New York Times, and others will always be a factor with their "East Coast bias." However, you all forget the other part of the equation. Even in a world with 24/7 information access, the time difference between the east and the west will always make sure that teams like Arizona get pretty much ignored. You can't get a feel for a team unless you see its games (or, at least the highlights). And, with most west coast games not starting until after Soxfags and Yankeefags go to bed, their news outlets have already moved on to the next day's action by the time east coast fans have a chance to check in with what's going on (keeping in mind that the vast majority of sports fans have so-called real lives and are not like those here on /sp/ who are on the internets almost 24/7).

Yes, it is the second most popular sport in America. It is also really big in Japan, Korea and the Caribbean and it is getting bigger in China and the rest of Latin America.

Baseball is often considered the iconic American sport due to its long history here. Moments such as Lou Gehrig's farewell speech have etched themselves in the annals of American history. In fact ALS, the disease Lou Gehrig suffered from is now colloquially called Lou Gehrig's disease

Not to mention Tommy John surgery, a ligament reconstruction procedure that revolutionised ligament care. Named after pitcher Tommy John, who was the first person to undergo the procedure.

To be fair, ESPN has spent the last couple of days masturbating to Justin Upton.

But, just like any other passing masturbation fantasy, ESPN will soon get bored with that and go back to its usual CP (coverage predictable).
