I've always wondered how people develop rooting interests in NASCAR and other auto racing. The drivers/teams don't represent cities or regions, so what gives? Do people just have arbitrary allegiances? If that's the case, racing is even gayer than I thought.

I couldn't care less about NASCAR, but I always followed open-wheel racing (mostly F1, but also Indy Car prior to the split and CART/Champ Car afterward) rather closely. When they were still in it, I always had a soft spot for Jordan though because of nationality. I was born in the US, but my family is from Ireland and they were an Irish team.

we've already lost our dvr playback sponsor who shall remain nameless, and the season's not even over.

Good news, though. Turner's sticking with this trainwreck (carwreck?) through 2014!
