Motor Speedways Inc. or whatever just bought Kentucky Speedway, which means the Sprint/Nextel/Winston Cup might have a race here next year.

Also, the name of the town isn't edited at all. That's where it really is.

Motor Speedways Inc. = 87 of the SAME FUCKING TRACK

1) Bruton Smith, millionaire nutbag, buys Kentucky, a track that has been begging for a Cup race.

2) Bruton closes Pocono, that has two races, under some fucking pretense or another.

3) Bruton thinks that will make NASCAR give another race to Las Vegas (that he also owns) and a race to Kentucky.

4) ???

5) PROFIT
Bruton is wrong, though. Pocono sucks but it is close to two major markets, Philadelphia and NYC. If Bruton pulls this shit, his competition will just find another spot close to New York and build a new track, and Kentucky will be S.O.L.

What the hell's going on in Turn 2 there?

Pocono is one of the more interesting tracks to watch, hope it stays

SMI does not own Pocono...yet. I think it's much more likely that New Hampshire loses a race and the other will be a toss-up between whatever other SMI track isn't selling out both of its races...any NASCARfags notice all those empty seats at Atlanta over the past few years? Those two dates will go to LVMS and Kentucky (probably in 2010) while ISC/NASCAR will juggle some dates to put California's second race in October to be a part of the chase and undo their horrible error of thinking people in LA want to see the most boring racing ever presented on a 100+ degree Labor Day Weekend.

Pocono is a great place to watch a race. Unless you're actually at the race. Terrible track for spectators. No sightlines to the more interesting sections, and it's out in the middle of fucking nowhere.

in b4 this shit isn't a sport.

Whoever wins the nextel/sprint cup or whatever, should be put on a pedestal, and shot in the fucking head

Nascar is really one of those sports/events that's better to watch on TV. Its a tech-heavy sport and TV presents all that information well, along with those bumpers cams and whatnot.

And Pocono is a great TV track. Then again, so was Rockingham, and they don't race there anymore because of spectator turnout.

The same thing that's going on in Turn 3 apparently.

Yeah, they need to add more road courses. The Nationwide series has a road course in Mexico AND Canada, so that's 2 where you can get rid of unnecessary two-race-per-season tracks like Michigan, Texas, and Dover.

Seriously, the potential for road courses are huge. You could have one in Hawaii, driving around volcanoes and shit.

Of course that won't happen.

I am going to our local racetrack this weekend

Dover Downs is an awesome track.

It's okay. A track that deserves two dates, yes, but it's one of the worst of those that do. If it didn't have concrete, I'd have to admit that I wouldn't mind if Dover was stripped to one race.

They should build a road course somewhere around Portland or Seattle. honest there are rednecks here. and it does not rain in the middle of the summer.

I'd love to go to a race.

Ever been to PIR?

Isn't there a raceway in Portland? I swear I saw a sign for one while driving through there.

Yes, PIR. It's a road course that was once featured on the Truck schedule in the late 1990's. Also the famous GP of Portland, which was a CART race for like thirty years until this season.

Never anything worth going there for.
