As of tonight, the Wings have clinched the President's trophy, and the playoff picture looks like this. * means this team has clinched

WEST
1. Detroit* 2. San Jose* 3. Wild* 4. Ducks* 5. Stars* 6. Avalanche* 7. Flames 8. Predators. Canucks, Blackhawks, possibly oilers in contention.

EAST
1. Penguins* 2. Canadiens* 3. Hurricanes 4. Devils* 5. Rangers* 6. Senators 7. Bruins 8. Capitals.

What does /hoc/ think of the playoffs so far? Personally, I'm psyched about the pens/caps matchup in the first round. I'm a wings fan, but it should be some great hockey to watch those two teams, especially with the genuine animosity between Malkin and A.O.

I didn't think about that one. Won't be the most exciting series in the world, but both teams have solid goaltenders, so it should be a long series.

If I had to chose, I'd bet on the Devils, if only for the unholy force that is Brodeur...

they played two playoffs ago and the devils swept them.

Washington Ovechkins better make the playoffs, i've already declared them my bandwagon team.

Not the final standings mind you, but I would love to see AO buttfuck Cindy right out of the playoffs. Though, I bet the Caps end up getting the 3rd seed, Carolina has been sucking lately.

Rangers are 7-0-0 against the Devils this year.

Rangers always dominate the Devils in the regular season.

Playoffs are a completely different beast.

I'd love to see Washington knock pens out in first round. Then we could actually start hearing about hockey for the rest of the year instead of just hearing about Crosby.

It wouldn't even be close. Washington has nowhere near the talent of Pittsburgh.

That's what's you keep saying, CB. But if you look at the numbers, the pens are only 3-1 against the caps this season. Of those games, three were 1 goal games, one was an OT win (pens), and one was a SO win (caps).

The only game that was not 1 goal game was a 4-2 Pens victory in early march. Take away the goal Backstrom scored on his own net it's a one goal game again.

As near as I can tell, the penguins haven't had the dominance over the Capitals you predict. I think it'd be exciting as hell, to see that series.

Oh, I got my numbers off nhl.com, btw.

Pens and Caps would be a dream for the NHL. Three of the league's best players in one series would be sweet.

Only 3? Malkin, Crosby, and AO.

What about Federo--Oh, yeah. He hasn't been a star since he left the wings.
