New England Patriots (thanks for the top 10 pick, bernard pollard. we're going to enjoy the second phase of the dynasty)
San Diego Chargers (raping the jets always puts you good in my book)
New York Giants (18-1)
Dallas Cowboys (Tony Homo beat NOT BRETT FAVRE, with a little help from his friends)
Bills (why not?)

Having Pitt on that list and not the Eagles after the Eagles crushed them is... strange.

I would go
-Dallas - all around powerhouse
-Tennessee - no better D in the league with an O that's good enough
-Eagles - scary blitzing D that shows a lot to confuse teams and an explosive (at times) offense
-Broncos - best offense in the AFC (they may very well fall off the list and be replaced by the Chargers as the season moves on)
-Giants - best pass rush in NFL, eli is clutch at the end of games giving them a chance to win any game no matter how ugly
-Chargers (I know 1-2 team this high? I think they are way better than their record)

THAT . NY.

15-6 is not "crushing" anything. But Pittsburgh's inflexibility is a huge problem and they aren't Top 5 until their coaching staff proves it has more than five plays in their playbook.

My characterization is not based only on the final score. Eagles D were all over Ben for pretty much the whole game, except when Ben had to leave the field, then they left him alone. Pitt never got in the endzone. At one point they starting using the i form and going to a spread offense, Pitt in a spread offense? WTF is that? That's not Pitt. When an offense changes it's identity because of what the defense is doing, that's getting dominated. Pitt ran the ball like 19 times, and Pitt is a run first team.

There is so much wrong with your analysis, I don't know where to start. Pittsburgh's offense was completely impotent, but for the most part so was Philadelphia's. Philly is lucky to have a punter that can kick 60+ yards to get them out of the jams Pittsburgh's D was putting them in. If you want to sound anything better than an Eagles' homer, you might want to scrutinize both sides of the ball.

You've obviously never watched a Steelers' game since Cowher retired, or you'd already know Pittsburgh's offense has become much more vertical and pass-oriented with Arians as offensive coordinator. Until Pittsburgh gets a lead, they now pass aggressively using four-wide sets, bunched recievers, and double tight-ends. It's after they gain a lead that you see Parker get the majority of his carries.

Pay some fuckng attention to the teams you're trying to comment on, for Christ's sake.

I'm anything but a philly homer. 19 run attempts, was that usual for Pitt?
>> Anonymous
>>356351
Playing from behind? Yes. Or did you drift off for a moment there? The point was, the Pittsburgh you described is the Pittsburgh that Cowher coached. Tomlin/Arians have put the offense on Roethlisberger's arm, and, for whatever fucking reason, continued to do so even when it became apparent Philadelphia was going to blitz every other down. It's actually ridiculous that Tomlin hasn't a single answer to that type of defense seeing as Baltimore does the exact same thing.

This is numbered, but this isn't in any real order. I don't order teams from best to worst until mid-season.

1. NYG
2. Dallas
3. Denver
4. Tennessee
5. Buffalo (Shit, the wagons are getting circled............)

I know that seems weird, but this is based on who I think looks the best after 3 weeks. I only exclude Baltimore because they have only played two games, and Philly + Washington for being on the losing end of the division games.

The very idea of power ratings when only 3 games have been played is ruhdikalus.

1. Giants (they're the champs, they're the best until someone beats them)
2. Cowboys
3. Broncos
4. Titans
5. Bills

It's pathetic because there are a number of simple counters to the blitz.

7 step drops ARE NOT IT.
>> Anonymous
>>356384
isn't it like the QB's job to pick up the blitz, tell his linemen who to block and that kind of thing, or call an audible if there is time or a timeout if not to change the play.

You guys are moorons. Blitz never was and still isn't easy to pick up.

Not sure how so many people have a team that narrowly escaped losing to the Aint's at home in the top 5, hell even the top 10.

You don't pick up blitzes you pass around it. Screen passes, flats, or if the line backers are blitzing send the tight end to the open spot. That's how you counter attack a blitzing squad.
>> Anonymous
>>356417
Yes

If you watched the Giants Bengals game you would see how Cinci was effective against the blitzing the Giants were doing. Basically Palmer had a really quick release so the blitz didn't have time to get to him.

And still the best 5 teams in the NFL
