Have there ever been any deaths? Other than racing or football injuries from the early days.
>> Anonymous
>>103503

There were deaths in Baseball a long time ago when they didnt they didnt wear batting helmets and use new white balls constantly. The balls would get all dirty and shit, and when there was a beanball it was harder to see coming.

>> Anonymous
>>103553
was a former city player wasn't it?

Then there was Hibs(?) captain who had a seizure and died. Sevilla full back who died. Kanu nearly died due to a faulty heart I think. Some african fella died.

Every time bad injuries come up I still go back to this clip and try and figure out what the fuck happened...

What the fuck is it with football players and heart attacks?
>> Anonymous
>>103583

Wasn't it Phil McDonnel or O'Donnel or some shit like that?
>> Anonymous
>>103596

Years of hard exercise can make a small, underlying heart condition go pop.
Most of these guys had some kind of heart-rhythm disorder they didn't even know about.
>> Anonymous
>Most of these guys had some kind of heart-rhythm disorder they didn't even know about.

Maybe...or maybe they knew about it and decided to keep on playing in hope everything will be alright. There is big money in football and maybe they decided it was worth the risk.
>> Anonymous
>>103610

True, in some cases. I know Arouna Koné of Sevilla has a heart murmur that could lead to serious problems.
Didn't pass medical when Ajax planned to buy him, but Sevilla doesn't seem to mind.
>> Anonymous
>>103613
Looks like it really will take a big fucking incident, for UEFA/FIFA to do something about this. Unless a big name player dies, I don't think we'll see any big improvemens .
>> Anonymous
>>103614

Puerta was a Spanish international with a promising future, and his death didn't do much on the long term.
I guess the only way to get the FIFA to act is to see someone fall over and die during an European/World Cup. I'm hoping CRonaldo.
>> Anonymous
>>103615

As much as I would like to see him keel over and die, that would probably be bad because then everyone would have the "RONALDO! RIP! WHAT A HERO! A TRUE GENTLEMAN!" mentality that would perhaps be worse then even just watching him now.
>> Anonymous
>>103615
Promising. Yes. Big name? No. And if Cronaldo drops dead, I won't really mind.

But the problem isn't just FIFA not taking action against it. You don't know how many players out there have heart problems, but the clubs know about their players. If there are big names among them, their clubs won't be very happy if they have to let those players go, since all that matters to them is money. And big names bring money.

>>103468

Yeah. I'd say that's probably the worst I've seen. Buddy almost died. The fact that he got up and skated to the bench before collapsing was crazy enough.

Fucking harsh in my opinion.
