Pretty much everything about this Olympics is the best in my memory. This is also one of the most talked about in history, considering the air pollution, human rights issues and, of course, the whole Tibet thing. Never before do I recall such anticipation for an Olympics. And boy, did they deliver. There's just something magical about them being somewhere far off like Beijing. The facilities are fucking awesome, as well. But anyway, the actual events themselves were really great. The Opening Ceremony was spectacular and the Closing Ceremony is looking to be similarly cool. I've never been as excited during an Olympic event than I was for Michael Phelps, who really kicked the whole thing off with a bang. 7 world records, 8 gold medals, holy shit. Then there was the women's gymnastics, which brought the lovely Nastia, Shawn and Alicia to my attention, and they were also extremely fun to watch. Even the men's gymnastics were cool. Then there were both Beach Volleyball events, where the US owned. Over in the Bird's Nest we got to see Usain Bolt become the fastest man in the world. I'm actually quite sad it's drawing to a close, just like I was sad when the last swimming event ended or when the last medal was handed out in gymnastics. All the most fun events are over, so now I guess we wait until 2012, where London has big shoes to fill. What was also great about this Olympics was that all the /sp/ortsmen could watch together in real-time, along with the /b/tards and the /mu/tants and all of 4chan. Also, I watched most of the games with IRL friends, which made it all the more fun.
