Hey guise, any team want to take me so Philadelphia can give all my monies to Shanahan?

It'll be the only way Philadelphia can get Brendan without paying him in cheese steaks and tastykakes.

But, I really don't see many teams wanting Hartnell for that contract.

I'm wearing my Hartnell jersey-shirt right now.

Shanahan is old.

And Hartnell's riding the bench.

So, wanna come back? We'll give you Greg DeVries...

If he goes anywhere, it would be for draft picks.

I think Philly is only $750,000 under the cap.

I honestly think Philadelphia is doing its damnedest to bring in Shanahan. Really, a week or so after Shanahan meets with Holmgren, the Emiger/Downie for Clarke trade happens that frees up a contract spot.

464646 get?

Shanny is probably going to get a contract in the 1.3 range they said. Moving Hartnell frees up about 2.6 in contract space with a possible Shanahan signing, frees up some space for when Jones can come back.

Nashville has boatloads of space (10-12 million) and draft picks coming out the ass, they just need somebody, anybody to do something.
Even then, Hell, Nashville has almost enough space to sign Shannahan and Sundin.
Either way, any trade talks at all, expect the Preds to be in it somewhere.

That and Holmgren loves Nashville as much as he loves Tampa Bay.

I still think it's hilarious that Alberts is on the same team as a guy who almost ended his career with a dirty hit.

Must be wonderful in the locker room.

Terrible trade, Alberts sucks.

He was decent before getting boarded twice.

The injuries really ruined someone who could have been a solid defenseman.

Oh and on the topic of defensemen

ANDREW FERENCE IS BEAST

Which is hilarious once you realize it's been Timonen and Coburn that have been costing the Flyers goals the last few weeks.

Yes yes I know... their entire D has been subpar, our top two aren't making things better.

I suspect a 3 way trade with Philly Nashville and Tampa Bay, they all 3 need something and they all could give something easily.

I hate it when Flyers "fans" blame the defensemen for everything.

Honest to God, the Flyers are primarily unlucky. I don't think I've ever seen so many goals scored off pucks that hit the defenders and redirect in. Conversely, I've never seen offensive pressure like the Flyers can apply not produce goals (and yes, I do realize Philadelphia is one of the top offensive teams, but they've really had many, many missed opportunities even then)

As far as the defensemen are concerned, their "mistakes" are coming from their role in the attack. Philadelphia learned against Pittsburgh last post-season that the entire team needs to move together for their forecheck to work properly. This leaves the team vulnerable to counter-attacks, but that's just how the game is being forced to be now. The real anamoly is Coburn sitting in the box every game. His PIMs are ridiculous. Granted, Alberts and Kukkonen aren't the far above AHL caliber, but they aren't getting much help either.

Help from the goaltenders and forwards. Biron and Nittymaki can steal games. Unfortunatley, they're very inconsistant. Unless Biron really gets in a groove like he did against Montreal last post-season, Philadelphia will just need to deal with this (and they can since they do score goals). The real key is the half-assed backcheck. I tear my hair out every time I see Carter gliding in after the play when we all know he has the speed to disrupt any transition he faces.

Philadelphia was getting burned by swift counter-attacks and lackluster checking in their own zone.
