Los Angeles needs a 3rd basketball team.

Two is just not enough. We need a farm team that the good young players of the 3rd team can go up to the Lakers when the Lakers need them.

I think that the Bobcats or Heat could be a good 3rd Los Angeles NBA team.

Then we could have:

LA Lakers
LA Clippers (B Team)
LA Bobcats/Heat (C Team)

And all the all-star players of the Clippers and Bobcats/Heat like Wade and company can come to the Lakers team, and we can win every title till 2140.

Non-Amerifag here.

This is random but why doesn't LA have a NFL team? Doesn't USC have one of the best football programmes in the country.

LA had two teams, the Rams and Raiders, until 1995. Neither had great support; LA was given at least two great chances to get another team since then, and failed both times (the reason the newest team was placed in Houston.)

USC drawing well has nothing to do with being a great market for an NFL team; otherwise, Columbus, Ann Arbor, Knoxville, Happy Valley, PA and a few other schools that draw even more than USC would be considered viable targets.

Some great NFL cities don't have anything that resembles a good college program- New York, Washington, Green Bay, and Dallas, to name a few.

Lakers have a farm team, the D-Fenders they play in the early afternoon before Laker games in the D league.

the reason LA doesn't have a new team is because they haven't/won't build a new stadium.
