TRADE CONFIRMED

The Detroit Lions have traded wide receiver Roy Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the trade was made today, just before the NFL trade deadline.

It is not clear exactly what compensation the Lions got from the Cowboys, but Schefter reported that Detroit received “at least one first-round pick.”

Not really. Roy Williams is a proven top receiver with at least 10+ years left in his career. The Cowboys have a surplus of middle to late round picks in the '09 draft. And they would of drafted a receiver in the first round anyways. Now you are guaranteed that your pick isn't a bust, via Roy Williams.

God Cowboys, please get through the next three weeks with going at least 1-2. Get to the bye, get a ton of people back from being injured. AND THEN ITS UNLEASHING THE DRAGON.

The Lions have traded WR Roy Williams to the Cowboys for a first, third and sixth round pick. The Cowboys also receive a seventh-round pick from the Lions in 2009.

Here are the Cowboys' 09 picks:

First, second, third, fourth, fifth, seventh round, plus:

• Third round from Cleveland for fourth-rounder in 2008

• Fourth round from Detroit for third-rounder in 2008

• Sixth round*

• Sixth round from Miami for nose tackle Jason Ferguson

*If Adam Jones stays out of trouble. Since Adam Jones is suspended for 4 games by the league, the Cowboys get this Sixth Rounder pick back.

Honestly, this is a great pickup for the Cowboys. They only have 3 receivers on their roster currently. Hurd is gone for the season, and Stanbach is injury plagued and out. The Cowboys need Miles Austin or Patrick Crayton to return kicks/punts. Plus, Austin and Crayton are not going to draw the kind of coverage Roy Williams will. I mean, how do you scheme against TO, Roy Williams, Witten, Crayton/Austin, Barber, Felix Jones and Romo? Of course, assuming everyone is not injured and the offensive line starts to play like they used to.
>> Anonymous
>>404939

Shit's about to hit the fan for the rest of the league once Romo, Felix and Newman make it back after the bye following the Giants game. Hell, we should be 7-2 after the bye. We COULD trade up in the first round or we could stand pack. Our options are limitless.
>> Anonymous
Idiots saying this trade is a bad trade for the Cowboys lol. Essentially the Cowboys are using their first round pick on Roy Williams. The Cowboys then have a second round pick, third round pick, 2 fourth round picks, 2 fifth round picks, a sixth round pick, and 2 seventh round picks for the '09 draft. That's a fucking sweet deal. Even more so since the Cowboys were going to spend that first round pick on a receiver anyways.

Seems like a good trade to me. Williams has proven himself to be a good WR, not top tier but certainly not an average WR either. You gotta admit, he was pretty crippled by playing in Detroit all these years.

Both teams got a good turnout. Dallas gets a proven WR to supplement their franchise QB and to complement TO (like Wayne to Harrison). Detroit gets needed picks to rebuild their team with.
>> Anonymous
>>405105

Name a better GM, one that tries to spend as much money to have his franchise win. There isn't a GM in the league that I'd rather have than Jerry. And please, you're going to sit here and say Jerry as a GM is a tard? From a Lions fan? LOL. Surely you jest.

So really, is it the Pacman deal that's got you twisted on Jerry? A fifth round pick for a first round quality cornerback, who if got into trouble, that pick would be refunded? Which the pick has been given back to the Cowboys. Not to mention Jerry is paying Pacman next to nothing considering NFL player salaries.

Sounds like to me you've got some serious jealousy, as do all of the other haters in this thread. Sure, the Cowboys might be struggling at the moment. But oh my god, in 3 weeks when the injuries subside. Look out. If the Cowboys start playing with purpose, and are given a wake up call by all this. Get ready to see the bandwagon in full force.
