what does /sp/ think about the Kidd to Dallas Deal?
>> Anonymous
lurk moar

Win now, lose 2 years later.
Dude is 35 years old, that'd give him like what, 1-2 good years max.

Same goes to the Suns. But Shaq has no good years left in his body. We'll see tomorrow.
>> Anonymous
the fun of this is, themavs and suns cant both win the finals, and at least one of them is going to be looking stupid as fuck come offseason
>> Anonymous
Who the fuck do the mavs have at center now that Diop is gone? Dampier can't do shit alone.
>> Anonymous
Fuck I hate being a fan of Dallas teams.

ummmm.. Howard.

Juwan....Howard. facepalm

I bet you wish they had VC.

When Damp is out of the lineup, we'll likely go small and Dirk will slide over to the five, with the backup PF we picked up in the deal taking over the 4. However this was absolutely not a good deal. In my mind, Harris is already a better point guard than Kidd. Giving up all of the extra players, including Diop, is just insane.

The thing I've most been afraid of since the Mavs got good again was that they would mortgage the future for one shot at the title like Miami did. If we're not still a playoff team in four years, this is the deal to blame.

your whole post was just invalidated

also harris was the fucking heart of the team.it seems like we just lost a whole bunch of steam

STACK HAS MORE FUCKING HEART THAN HE DID

Kidd:
I really don't see how his passing ability will go downhill. He isn't much of a scorer so he can focus on defense. His rebounding may decline but that isn't the worst thing in the world. What he does bring even when he is older is experience and leadership. He is tough and a competitor. All these things stack up in his favor for a future >2 years. At least 3. And if I am wrong I do not think he will retire but act more as a mentor to his successor, which will likely prove invaluable.

LOL.

Besides, the Mavs have 2 empty roster spots. They can fill one with a center, guys like Diop aren't hard to replace.

Juwan and Bass are a bit short to take over C.
Though Bass is a strong motherfucker.
>> Anonymous
juwan is almost worthless at this point anyway. we need to sign a mid level center quickly
>> Anonymous
>>6762
Bullshit. He may be not as good as he was 4 years ago but he is just in a bench warmer roll.

lulz

and yea Juwan Howard is a helluva role player and a seasoned vet. i bet bass is learning a thing or two.

hasnt he played C most of his career?

Check the NBA finals of Spurs/Nets and then the Mavericks/Spurs series two years ago to understand the point properly. Harris is fast, can drive and dish and open the lane. Kidd is a much better passer and rebounder, but even when he was young he couldn't shoot, and his defense is on the downswing as well. Learn your basketball.

>>6773
yea but this is the older and less athletic Juwan

bad trade, it wont help anything, you traded a piece to stay exactly the same and you lost a good YOUNG point guard. and the phoenix trade is just as bad, the only team that can challenge the spurs in the west now are the Lakers, and they wont be able to beat the spurs in a best of 7 series
>> Anonymous
>>6802
Cause Devin Harris was a vocal and recognized leader who will be in the HOF soon.
>> Anonymous
>and the phoenix trade is just as bad

EXPLAIN. i think with shaq they can do better in the playoffs because they can get some fucking boards, and i dont see them not making the playoffs
>> Anonymous
>>6802
at first i had that reaction to both trades...
>> Anonymous
>>6805
so youre telling me because kidds played well in his career before this year, that automatically makes him a better player right now and in the future? cause that makes perfect sense. and how has kidd led his team, by demanding trades and beating his wife?
>>6809
how does the trade help? you give up a good scorer and a good shot for a lump that stands in the lane and cant run with his team? this slows the suns down, which only helps the spurs more, and duncan plays well against shaq. spurs or lakers are winning the west.
>> Anonymous
>by demanding trades and beating his wife?

i was waiting for it. funnier everytime :D
>> Anonymous
any outstanding center cant run with the suns, and you cant argue that the suns didnt need a good center

Same here.

I don't know what you don't understand about a team needing a LEADER. If you think Kidd won't be then GTFO.

The Mavericks play in a conference of fast point guards. Our two main rivals are the Suns and the Spurs, both of whom boast exceptionally quick point guards. Harris made Parker work on the defensive end and wore him down to be a non factor in the playoffs and is able to keep up with Nash's drives better than just about anyone else I've seen. Kidd has the mind for it, but he's slow, oft injured, and old. Not worth an exciting and still developing star, much less him, draft picks, cash, and the center that does the best job on Duncan and Amare.

/sp/ has many of us dallas fags i guess.

Why does everyone underrate Kidd's D? Fuck. He locks shit up.
>> Anonymous
>>6851
defensive speed is the problem, not defensive skill
>> Anonymous
>>6856
Kidd is strong enough to guard shooting guards. We'll have to rely on Terry or Howard to guard point guards, lol.
