NHL trade deadline approaching, etc.

What's the latest news on Mats Sundin? I heard a rumor that the Leafs were prepared to let him go, but I couldn't find anything on the internets to back this up.

Ferguson asked him for a list of teams he wouldnt reject to being traded to, but didnt specifically ask him to waive his no trade clause; if sundin really doesnt want to leave like his agent's been claiming, he cant be made to

Torontofag here. I heard it's too late, apparently Sundin will no longer wave his no-trade clause for some shitty reason.

I was told that Detroit was on that list; I'm a Wingsfag, however I'd much rather see Sundin stay in Toronto, where he seems to be more than appreciated.

from TSN;
"...Toronto Maple Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher met with Mats Sundin on Thursday to discuss his future. It was believed Fletcher asked Sundin for a list of teams he'd like to be dealt to but stopped short of asking him to waive his NTC.

...the Flyers, Rangers, Sharks and Islanders among the teams believed interested in him. "

Doubtful, however.

How the fuck would the Islanders get him? A draft pick + what?

Anyways, if he does leave the Leafs it's likely that he won't re-sign with them - with the NTC you'd think it would be his decision though.

Why wouldn't he re-sign?

If anything I'd see him going to Anaheim.

However I think he just doesn't want to leave Toronto. He doesn't want to uproot himself and move after being there for so fucking long. Some sources seem to say he'll stay put and if the Leafs won't re-sign him he'll retire.

I think if Sundin wanted a cup with another team he would have left a long time ago...
