Fuck New York. It's the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark, looking like you're riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It's depressing.

Fuck Atlanta. It's the most boring, mind-numbing city. Imagine having to take an SUV to the ballpark, looking like you're riding through Iraq next to some suburban serial killer, next to some closet-queer with AIDS, right next to some crazy born-again, right next to some 20-year-old mom with twelve kids. It's depressing.

Manhattan is a huge trash can. Way to not build alleys, city planners.

>>231890

all myths. Manhattan is actually one of the safest cities in the country due to the fact that theres NYPD on almost every street corner.

What does the overabundance of NYPD have to do with the trash bags blocking the sidewalks and making the city smell like shit?

Shit, Memphis is horrible, you can shoot each other all you want and the cops wont do shit, but you speed at all and they will pull you over.

shit , on top of all of that, everyone in NYC fancies themselves an artist. They have have failed for the the last three decades. Also, the 20-yr-old mom with four kids is ultra-depressing, also, she's prolly black. and has AIDS. Beirut is nice in comparison.

Protip: Despite the oddness that is the Post Office, Manhattan is not a city, it's a borough. Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and the long forgotten borough, Staten Island are what makes New York City.

That said, the whole city is pretty low crime for a city with 8+ million people. Nearly as safe as Boise, Idaho.

Too bad because the drug wars, prostitution and racial tensions of the 80s and 90s and the city troubled past with the Italian Mafia, people will always think NYC is a shithole.

It's the jackasses that live there that give it a bad rap. Chicago still has a lot of organized crime problems, corrupt politicians, etc, but it doesn't have the stigma of being filled with assholes. Sure, it has it's share of douchebags but so does every city, and it isn't bad enough to make you change your mind when you visit. New York is known for being pretentious, narcissistic, pompous and rude, and visits there do enough to confirm that stereotype that it doesn't matter how it really is.

Personally in the time I've spend in New York people were about as nice as anywhere else. Same with Boston (I actually have a cousin who was a courier in Boston through his college years and he tells me that downtown most people are hockey fans and don't care for the Patriots, Red Sox, or Celtics- those fags are the typical New England assholes who live outside the city) and most other cities.

Maybe it's just that way for me, though, because I myself am an asshole and hate tourists as much as any of the natives. People tend to ask me for directions no matter where I am and I usually just point them in a random direction, but if it happened on a daily basis I can definitely see how that sort of thing would piss you off. Still, New Yorkers would have to be almost sickeningly nice to overturn the negative preconceived notions about them.
