sport is a hive of parochial villainy. the object of the board is to hang utter shit on anything you're not familiar with and call your sport THE BEST EVER repeatedly in all caps

I wish they'd go back to calling it victard rules. It's an embarrassment that they changed the name in the 90's to try and gain a wider audience.

Australian Rules is the most highly attended spectator sport in the country, and worldwide is the second most atended sport in terms of both average and league final attendance rates.

>>115209

Rules = Vic, South, West, North, Tas
Thugby, Game of Bogans = New South Fails, Quinceland

Rugby is a violent version of handball with no charm and too much advertising. At least Gridiron has the hilarious uniforms and equipment.

What are the capacities of the stadiums you use? Most big teams here are over 90% filled throughout the season. You biggest team barely fills half of its stadium... Kind of embarrasing imo.
>> Anonymous
>>115995
Truth. A push in the back, let alone a tackle, is illegal but it calls itself a contact sport? lol
>> Anonymous
AFL is soccer without the queening around and scorelessness, and NFL without ten seconds of play then 90 second of ads then extra stoppage time because the coach has to adjust his headset.

>>115997

2007 crowd average is around 38-39k. Record attendance was 121,696 for the 1970 grand final. Also, using stadia capacity to gauge a sport's popularity/solidarity is like using GDP to work out a country's quality of life.

If ManU or any other decent sized sports club had a 100,000 seat cricket stadium they could use in the cricket offseason they'd be getting sellouts every game...

Capacities are the only way to compare the fanbase, otherwise you'd have a situation where some team from Bumfuck, Victardia thinks it is better supported because they can average 50% of a 100,00 seater while a proper team playing a real sport averages 99% full in a 49K seater.

Hey fuckwit: if the biggest AFL club by membership, Adelaide, had even a tenth of the fanbase of Man U, let alone the same order of mobility or geographic concentration (compare the number of urban centres close to Manchester to the number close to Adelaide), that club would be selling out every match as well.

Great pic of the choir boy, I'll admit. But seriously, rules pretty much IS the ideal hybrid of two diametrically opposed forms of football.
>> Anonymous
>>116067
Fumbleball is combines the worst aspects of 19th century rugby, Gaelic football and soccer into an ugly mish-mash of codes, completely absent of any structure or tactics.

The only reason the bogans like it is because it appeals to their mislaid nationalism. Which, coincidently, is why you are more likely to be stabbed at an AFL game than you are doing anything else in the country.

It would make more sense to compare capacities. The only reason you disagree is because it means the AFL looks a shitload worse and you won't be able ot spam your shit on msg boards.

If we banned just one IP I bet we'd cut down on 99% of the fumbleball shit here.

lol
20 metre wide goal posts with no crossbar
you get points for missing the goals!
no knock-on/fumble rule
no forward pass rule
no offside rule
200+ interchanges per team per match
no tackling or big hits just shirt grabbing
a push in the back is a major penalty
no actual team structure or tactics
etc, etc ,etc.

So skillful that you can recruit an amateur gaelic footballer (who's never seen an AFL ball in his life) and he can become one of the best players in the league within 2 seasons? It's a wonder he mastered all of those skills so fast! lol

Name another sport where that could happen? Better yet, stop posting shit on my /sp/.

AFL Season 2008
Average Capacities for Stadiums
12 Stadiums - 43,172

EPL Season 2008/2009
Average Capacities for Stadiums
20 Stadiums - 38,838

Happy now soccertards?
>> Anonymous
>>200+ interchanges per team per match

You realise soccer would have a similar number of interchanges if it were a contact sport, right?
>> Anonymous
AFL needs more interchange because they run more than soccer players. Constant movement rather than standing and waiting for the ball to arrive, sprint a couple paces and then wait another 5mins for something to do.
