So who else has been watching olympic boxing and thinks the scoring system is the most retarded thing ever invented?

Ditto.
>> Black ? Star !x8ngkAZjXE
does this even need to be asked?

I don't understand what's going on when I watch the boxing matches. How do they score this thing?

The olympic boxing is however way better than pro boxing. The fights are tantamount to brawling.

shit fucking sucks

Sometimes they get a point when they hit the other guy, sometimes they don't; it's completely random.

thats my point. because of the scoring there is ALOT more head ducking, but thousands more punches are thrown, its like a night out on the town watching the fights.

which i find entertaining.

basically the boxers have white areas on their gloves and they have to hit certain parts of the body like the front of the head or the torso to score points. the majority of the judges (more like counters) then have to push a button within a second of the punch landing for it to be scored. what it means is most of the punches arent scored because the judges cant see them or they are too slow to the button

I watched that match in which that American was upset by the S. Korean, and throughout the fight I noticed just how wonky and inaccurate the scoring system is.>>248904is absolutely right, I was confused throughout the whole fight because I thought I was missing something, but in fact it was just a shitty system.

always was this random

the diference is the points couting in olympics is made in real time and you can see what kind of shit pass trough the mind of the juries, making it more visible.

all the olympic rules do is limit the way boxers can win fights. all you see is fighters dancing around the ring jabbing, grabbing/holding and running away from the opponent to win the match. that is not entertaining, i want to see someone get KTFO or get put to their knee with a well-placed kidney punch

Olympic boxing != Prize fighting

Not to mention the fact the person getting punched gets awarded a point several times a match.

this is true but you have to admit the olympic system is flawed to the point where fighters like bastie samir are losing their matches after so completely dominating the opponent with non-scoring blows
