When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart

All right my turn...

Aalborg - ManU - As expected, although i had wished Aalborgcould have fought off a 0 - 0
Villareal - Celtic - As expected, too, Celtic is weaker than the last years
Fiorentina - Steaua _ Fiorentina disappointed after their quite good match against Lyon last time
Bayern - Lyonnais - Improved Bayern are still mostly harmless, though lyon was trying to top them in harmlessness
Arsenal - Porto - The suprise of the day imo, Porto not bad last game, Arsenal quite weak the last time, I didn't expect them to dominate the game like this
Fenerbace - Dynamo - Fair result, both good teams but not top ones and both nearly the same level
Zenit - Real - Schuster is a good manager making all those real millionaros work together and Zenit is despite of Gazprom millions not yet CL ready
BATE - Juventus - ....lol at Juve, eat that suckers

Predictions:
Cluj - Chelsea - Chelsea will do it, sorry Cluj, sorry Chelsea haters
Bordeaux - Roma - You never know about the Roma, but I guess an ugly game either a (goalless) draw or a close victory for Bordeaux
Famagusta - Panathinaikos - Another ugly game, 11 men defending one goal and 10 men with no clue and space how to get through. 1 - 0 in favour of Famagusta
Inter - Werder - I predict goals, Werder has nothing to lose and a weak defense, 3 - 2 I hope in favour of Werder but I fear Inter will win 3 - 2 (yes, i'm not too big a fan of italian teams...)
Sporting - Basel - Sporting will win thanks to home advantage, but I hope Basel will present itself better than last game
Skahktar - Barca - Barca, although still having some problems will win, even if Skahktar is the strongest opponent of Barca in this group
Liverpool - PSV - The Reds no doubt about it, PSV is unfortunately the weakest team in the group
Atlético - Marseille - Athlético will win 1 - 0

Ok, now it's time for your opinions
>> Anonymous
Nice result for manu, just need to pull their fingers out in the Premiership now.
>> Anonymous
Other than picking up a few injuries. Yesterday's result for United was a good one. Berba is off the mark, Ronaldo lasted the 90. We won comfortably - coulda, shoulda, woulda been if Ronny and Berba had scored ones you'd have thought they'd have bagged.

CFR Cluj 0-2 Chelsea
Bordeaux 1-1 Roma
Anorthosis 0-0 Panathinaikos
Internazionale 2-0 Bremen
Sporting 1-0 Basel
Skahktar 1-2 Barcelona
Liverpool 3-0 PSV
Atlético 2-0 Marseille

With the exception of the Sporting result I'd prefer all the results to be the other way round (some like Barca, Inter just for the lulz) but it ain't gonna happen.
>> Anonymous
My problem with Arsenal these days is that they try and walk everything into the goal. Yesterday, they could've easily won 7-0, but because they're mucking around trying to score from a yard out, it never pays dividends. Can't say I can complain about 4-0 against Porto, but they won't be able to just walk the ball into the goal against the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.

Also, I'm finding that Walcott is developing into a ballhog because he's too infatuated with his talent.

"The better team lost."

???
>> Anonymous
>>374049

That was Rijkaard's tactics, it stopped working after a while because the strikers lost their form. We need to sort the defense out. A new keeper would be nice too, Valdés just isn't good enough.
>> Anonymous
>>374061
Do you know the difference between Franks' Barca, and Peps' Barca? Last year when we conceded, the team fell apart. They didn't even try to do anything, they just wanted it all to end as soon as possible. Under Pep the players give their all to turn the score, and so far it's working.

tl; dr The players have a much better attitude and are more determined than before.
>> Anonymous
>>374070

Of course, their attitude is much better compared to last year. But there are still too many mistakes being made in defense which could prevent us from challenging for the league and CL this year. The players attitudes will change very quickly if the results aren't good as we've seen before.

I like Pep, he was an incredible player. But it's still too early to say if he is a successful manager. He has a lot to prove.
>> Anonymous

CFR Cluj 0 - 0 Chelsea
>> Anonymous
>>374080
Of course he has a lot to prove. He has everything to prove. But I think than he's the kind of coach who can motivate his players in any situation. If his tactical skills are up to par, he can be really succesful with Barca.
And, Barca never was a great defensive team. Silly goals are the price they pay for the risk they take in attack, and as long as they score more than the other team, I don't care if they concede 7 goals each game.

In the English media, yes. On /sp/ it's reversed.

Adebayor is a horrible player. Fabregas is good, maybe a tad overrated. Torres however is a great player, as much as it pains me to admit it.

Real (pun maybe slightly intended) world Ronaldo just edges it as the best player in the world, 07-08 season anyway.

As much as I hate to agree with you, I am afraid that I must. I am a lifetime Manchester United fan, but if I were made to say who is better Ronaldo or Torres? I'd be hard pressed to pick Ronaldo.

I do seriously believe he's a better player, but I have to wonder if he's that awesome because of raw personal talent, or because of the stellar assistance he gets from Rooney and Tevez.

Also, Rooney is the heart and soul of ManUtd, imo.
>> Anonymous
>>377826

As I think back on this, I'm really interested in seeeing how Berbatov and Ronaldo work together.

Too many cooks on the front line? Though some would say a Ronaldo/Berbatov/Rooney/Tevez offense is what dreams are made of...

>> Anonymous
>>377826

I'd be pressed to say that Scholes is what made ManU tick all these years, but I'm not a fan so I wouldn't know all the details.
Rooney is a valuable asset though, but not as an out-and-out striker.

How has that bald lil monkey fooled so many people for so long now... Look I didn't want to believe it either, I thought after how they looked without Crissy last season they'd be fine, thrashing the likes or Arsenal 4-0 and all. But they were garbage without CR7, he makes everyone around him better, not the other way around for fuck's sake. Also, Torres over Ronaldo?! LOL, GTFO.
>> Anonymous
>>379412
IT could be argued that Fergie is looking to play Rooney in that Scholes role. Scholes after all started off as a striker.

>>379483
Not just Ronaldo that isn't fully match fit atm. He is a massive boost to the team, but without him United wouldn't be no worse than Liverpool or Arsenal.
>> Anonymous
>>379483

If i was a manager i'd rather have Torres than Ronaldo. Torres is a nerd that stays home at night with his girlfriend. CR7 goes out and PARTIES HARD and bangs the bitches and will end up like ronaldinho when he's 25
>> Anonymous
>>379543
That's probably why you're not a manager then.

Did you know that my favourite day out, when I travel to England, is to go to Old Trafford starting off with a 10am shopping spree in the superstore followed by a few prime photo opportunities with the die hard Japanese United fans outside the stadium on Sir Matt Busby Way. I usually then make my way into the stadium with my vast array of superstore shopping bags and get comfortable before digging into a finely prepared pickle and ham sandwich. My favourite part is when the game starts, when I can zoom in my with my digital camera and snap the players and also ask the locals to tone down their colourful language and to sit down so not to spoil the atmosphere for the southern businessmen and Japanese tourists.

All this together makes for an unbeatable day out, the worst part is the dreadful language I have to put up with and having to journey through the cesspits that surround the stadium.
