Worst judging ever or worst judging ever? The scoring system is so fucking arbitrary, the judges must be either blind, stupid, or both. I'm glad to see that nothing has changed since 1988.

Okay /sp/. Someone PLEASE explain to me how the friggin world are you supposed to get points in this scoring system?

I've seen body shots, head shots, and everything in-between and not count. Then they randomly add a point when the guys are just circling each other like bumbling idiots.

TOTALLY AGREED WTF HAS BEEN GOING ON

i dont understand any of the points given. what are the parameters for scoring?

Seriously, even the commentators are fed up with this bullshit. They spend the entire bout apologizing to the viewers for the shoddy judging.

The last bout I watched tonight, the Indian boxer was consistently grabbing the Russian by the neck as well as wrapping up his legs; the Russian responded by throwing his ass to the mat judo style. What the fuck is this, K1?

Basically each judge sits on an opposite side of the ring and has two buttons, one for the blue corner and one for the red. When a punch lands and a judge hits one of the buttons. The other 2 judges have 1 second to also press the same button, which then results in a point being scored.

Knockdowns = 1 point, flurries = 1 point. At least that's how its SUPPOSED to work.... pretty disappointed int he results if you ask me...

Body shots don't count. Only clean shots that actually hit limited parts of the head count. Also, slaps, while not allowed, can sometimes score points if they are almost like a punch. Knockdowns are one point.

Yeah, the system is pretty shitty. There's no real consistency I've seen. It really is the 'dead-glove era', as one of the commentators put it.

actually body shots DO count, they just never get consistently fucking scored because the refs suck
>> Anonymous
Yeah totally. It's fucking awful, but it's pretty wellknown that in both wrestling and boxing the judging is crappy all the fucking time.

Watching these matches make me rage. There's so much fucking grappling going on and the ref lets them get away with it. That and whenever one side has a lead they start dancing away. Really need more penalties for this type of bullshit.

They need to get rid of the headgear

The judging for Wrestling was worse.

That, and the constant cheat-clinching needs to stop. The current system rewards cowardly boxing because a combo is worth the same number of points as a single punch. Better to jab and then dance around like you're an extra in West Side Story

Notice how the ref isn't even in the picture half the time? Look at how close a pro boxing ref is to the action, so he can step in quickly and separate a clench. The ref in Olympic boxing might as well be outside smoking a cigarette half the time.

Except I have noticed that the refs love to eject coaches halfway through the match for reasons I haven't yet figured out.

All I'm seeing is two guys wearing faggot headgear prancing around, occasionally slapping each other. Then they hug and the ref does nothing.
