DUH, how do you chii papercraft?
>> Jen

If you ever see a woman cosplaying as Chii, ask her if you can turn her on. A friend of a friend thought that one up, and I used it on someone earlier this year. I was making her a little sexually uncomfortable twice that day, come to think of it. I got one on tape, and the other one is burned into memory.

we need a Chii papercraft more like this
>> Jen
>>55355

I'll think about it. It's actually in one of the hotel rooms at the Hilton where the con was held. One of the people I was rooming with knew her, and she was helping him put on some cat ears that I think she had made. She had made the cosplay outfit she was in. I wouldn't mind comissioning her to make a Link cosplay outfit for me someday.

I'll probably release it. I'll post a link later when I have it uploaded somewhere.

nothing yet, has anyone ever talked to mizuirogakuen before?
>> Anonymous
>>55482
That would be cool except for the fact that he's said he'll probably stop making papercraft of anime characters because people are hassling him about copyrights and such.
I'm sure he would make an awesome Chii too. D:

Which "miz" model would make the best Chii anyway? It would probably be one of the Rozen Maiden, but which one?

Kitbash for needed parts.
REAL QUESTION: Chii will be in which of her outfits?

None! ;)

Here's the one in my 'to-do' folder...

Wolf
>> Anonymous
hey wolf, what all is in your "to-Do" file?
>> Anonymous
>>55734
Oh thank god. Wolf is on the job. Looks great, but could you also make a work safe version. I'll still build one like that, but I like to put the models I build on my desk at work.
>> Wolf
LOL! That was the 'safe' version... I put underwear on her just for the board... ;) I'm working on a few pieces of changeable wardrobe, so we'll see what I end up with...

I've got more stuff in my 'to-do' box than I'll probably ever get to... If anyone wants the base model files to play with in pepakura, let me know... Might be faster than waiting on me... ;)

Wolf
>> Anonymous
>>55744That was the 'safe' version
well in that case also make a not safe version. and you know what I mean.
>> Anonymous
>>55744
I have pepakura designer, but I have no clue as to how to use it properly.
>> Wanna_know
Hey wolf, I'd like the base model

wolf rapidshare the file pls

You are so awesome, I'm glad somebody was bold enough to step up to the task!
Can't wait to see this finished and get a chance to build her, safe or not :)
>> Wolf
I'm putting my 'To Do' folder in the file section of the PO yahoo group... I'm thinking another folder of cool models, one's I'm not interested in building but others might like as well...

I'll make them as 'user friendly' as possible, either obj or 3ds format, with textures or templates if they have one....

Wolf that's awesome! obj would be great!

Would love to see some of the anime characters and pinups done topless, with removable coverups whether it's bikini top, shirt, long hair or whatnot.

There seems to be a real shortage of 'adult' paper crafts, and a legitimate demand for them for novelties, gifts and simply being true to some characters.

It's time papercrafting "grew up" :)

Might attract a whole new audience :)
>> Wolf
Her files & texture templates are uploaded... :)

"Would love to see some of the anime characters and pinups done topless, with removable coverups whether it's bikini top, shirt, long hair or whatnot."

That's exactly my plan when it comes to the girls... I have a bad habit or 'stripping' just about every ani-girl that I come across... ;) I HATE it when a mesh is made that uses the clothing for major portions of the body... ;)

I tried my hard at Chii, but I'm too much of a noob with this stuff, so I'd rather leave it to the proffesionals.

Well I tried playing with the model but soon realized I was bound to just fuck up the whole thing so, anyone else taking a shot at this?
>> Anonymous
bump, does anyone know how to make this model into a papercraft?"
>> Wolf
It takes time... I've been working on learning pepakura, metesq, etc for model making for the past few years... & I'm still learning...
It's alot of trial & error, getting lines & cuts to lay right... Start small, say under 200 poly, then work your way up to where you feel comfortable... Most of the models I focus on now are usualy between 1000 to 5000 poly...
Pepakura recommends under 800 for easiest working...

The trick is not to import complex models in Pepakura as one model, but rather to make seperate Pepakura files for instance when you're working on a character one pdo for the legs, one for the torso, one for the arms, one for the head and so on.
That way, it will be much easier to work in Pepakura, meaning that when you're trying to set a cut edge to a specific edge on the torso, your view won't be obscured by another bodypart so you can't see what you're doing. I found this very helpful.

Is there any way we could get a .3ds of the Chii model or something that will open in 3DSmax?
>> Anonymous
>>56503
doesn't 3ds max open obj files as well?
>> Chamoo232
>>56506
yes they do
>> Anonymous
>>56527
I know, I was being sarcastic because:>>55782
>> Anonymous
Gah,I'm sorry for being an idiot,I forgot to use 'import' instead of just trying to open the .obj file.

I've really only used 3dsmax for creating a few 3d models not importing anything, sorry.
I have a lot to learn still.
>> Anonymous
>>56532
Don't worry, me being a little sarcastic doesn't mean I'm mad or anything, it usually happens when I feel a "doh!" moment coming up for the person who asked the question. ;o)
>> Anonymous
>>56533
Well you were absolutely right in this case,I know how to take sarcasm though so no sweat,I just really feel dumb that I didn't try 'import' first.

But I guess this is a good enough place to ask a 3d question on 4chan as any.
I've downloaded a few 3d models but when I go to render them in 3dsmax they never come out smooth even though I've seen the same models rendered amazingly by other people, the textures and colors are there,I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.
In the most recent case it was the rip of models from the newest Zelda game.
Can anybody help me?
