/po/ help meI made a long sword that was on a site Posted yesterday, but can't find the site again, so I just uploaded it;http://rapidshare.com/files/46762234/Longsword.rar.htmlNow I made the blade, and used corregated cardboard to strengthen it, so it actually takes quite a bit of force to bend, with all the paper and cardboard. It's very sturdy. But then when I attached it to the handle, because the handle was paper, it couldn't support the weight of the blade and just crumpled. So I tried supporting that with some cardboard, and attaching that to the blade, but it still failed. So /po/, what shall I do with the blade? Also, gonna become a namefag now. I don't like people thinking I posted some stupid post cause it's linked to mine. I'm the person making the lawgiver atm, and started the last showoff thread.
simple, design your own handle.
Finally it worked!Been trying to post this for about 2 hours :l
>>70659I was thinking of that, but I don't know what size I have to make the hole, and the only 3d program I can use is sketchup, and I can only do VERY basic things in that. :/
I dont use a program to design, I just use paper and fold and cut and bend until it looks good, then unfold it, cut where needed, and trace into illustrator if I want to share, or just onto cardstock (or in your case cardboard)
>>70664Oh. I'm not that tallented though >.<And I just can't be bothered :/And I don't use cardboard to make papercrafts, all I did with this blade was stick long, narrow pieces down the blade to straighten and strengthen it. I only use printer paper for everything else
>>70667What you probably should have done, is gone out and bought some of those nifty bamboo stick things also mentioned in the instructions (this is assuming it's the same one I'm thinking of).
>>70897Yeah, but I can never be bothered to go and buy extra stuff just for papercraft. Although that wouldn't have helped strengthen the handle, seeing as it's just paper for me and it just crumpled when I held it.
>>71039Are you using printing paper, or what?
>>71045Yes. And don't say I should get cradstock, because like I said, can't be bothered to get any :]
>>71051Cardstock works better, but if you can't get be bothered to get some, then you can't be bothered, simple as that. But don't go telling us what we can and cannot say. ;)
>>71052Lol, sorry :)What about coating it with pva glue + water? would that make it strong enough? I've never done it before so I don't know how much it would help, has anyone else?
>>71054Never done it before either.Try a small scrap papercraft (make some simple boxhead hako or something, something you can make in 5 minutes) and try it out on that before trying it out on a better papercraft.Best way to find out if something works or not: try it out.
>>71056Good idea, thanks
