I designed this today, and it seemed to work, but once I test built it, I found 2 major flaws.
For one, the positioning of Mario was wrong (I fixed it in the OP version), and the other problem was Mario can't stand up by himself.

So I come to you, /po/.
Help me find a way to support him, so he stands on his own.

I'd widen the entire tab area he leaps from, Include jumping motion lines so it blends a bit more naturally.

Add tabs all along the long sides of the bottom of the MARIO base so it folds together sturdier in a trapezoid form. I did some shooping so you can see the areas of green I think would help support the entire model standing up. Maybe add in tabs at the bottom of Mario all along that green area so they fold in under him onto the top of the base

Think before you suggest things.
The reason he's falling over is the tabs.
