I would reccomend using printer paper that is about the thickness of cardstock. The highest weight I usually find anymore in office supply stores is 65 lb. weight, which works nicely for papercraft. Anything that gets a lot thicker than that would be a bit difficult to fold without scratching the folds with a razor.
Also, bristol board is too thick for a printer. I've tried. It would be possible to use it, but definitely not worth the effort.
I hope this helps. Oh, and one last thing. I think regular printer paper is 20 lb. weight, and cardstock starts around 40 lb. weight, so if you don't want to go as high as 65 lb. weight, then 40 should work okay instead.
