Does anybody have any good sword papercrafts? Preferably something along the lines of the Red Queen from Devil May Cry 4 or Auron's sword from Final Fantasy X. Pic Related, its the Red Queen.

I'm just gonna bump this once for any sword or Devi May Cry papercraft. After this bump I'll let this thread die.

well, it is a nice papercraft of a longsword, and you could easily use that template to scratchbuild one with the modified blade.

I don't know if you make papercraft, but if you do or if is there anyone who can give recommendations on where to start making papercraft I'd love to start making some for /po/ and making the Red Queen seems like a good enough place as any to start.

If anyone is interested in the Devil May Cry aspect of this thread you'll be happy to know I stumbled across this in my search:

well, there's two ways of going about making papercraft:
1. do it by hand, do the math, make the parts, testbuild and tweak.

2. make/find a 3d model (low poly count required) texturize, and import to pepakura designer. Then tweak the open edges and tabs to make it easily buildable.

I've done it both ways, it's about the same speed, they just require different though processes. (I'm associative non-dominant Left/Right brained) if you're more left-brained (logic and math) I suggest doing it by hand. if you're right brained (artsy) or have experience with 3d modelling, I suggest that method.

the next step is to find an export of it, or get an emulator and a rom of the game and export the model yourself. then you open the model in maya, reduce the poly count to something manageable in a papercraft (less than 1000 is usually okayish, if you do the last step right)

then you verify all faces are joined, and export with textures. open the model in pepakura designer, apply the materials, uncheck 'auto' next to the unfold button, then unfold it. then you play around with the join faces (zipper) tool until the pieces are manageable, then play with the tabs until it's easy to assemble.

what do you mean get an export of it? of what?

of the model you want to build. in this case, the red queen sword model.

okay, hmmm, this is starting to make more sense, thank you for putting up with my perpetual annoyance and onslaught of questions. So, where would one look for video game models?
>> Moony
fansites usually. for most video games with die hard fans, there's a site of two that have an exported model of major characters, and if you're lucky, objects.

whats the best way to search for models do you think?
>> Moony
um... google and determination?
