chocobo help, stuck Anonymous
the "yellow bird" aka chocobo, stuck at step 56/57, does anyone know how to do step 56/57?

thanks

Follow the instructions?

56) Lift up the flap, like it shows.
57) Valley fold the top layer, so that the edge runs straight vertical from the bottom where the pleats are up to the crease that was folded before you lifted the flap in step 56. That extra crease is the one that it will automatically squash down along in step 59.

I am also making this, how do I do step 50/51, does anyone have a pic?

It's been so long since I've actually followed the diagram for making this. Now I'm beginning to realize how many of the steps I tweaked or changed altogether on this thing. There's at least two per page. Basically what steps 49 and 50 are doing is giving you creases that you use in step 52 to tuck the leg inside the body. Out of the four layers, two will stay creased in the same direction that you creased them in steps 50-51, and the other two will have their creases reversed in order to be tucked in.

There's a chance of the legs not working out quite right in steps 48-51 that doesn't show up until you try to start doing step 56. If you can't get to a part of the leg to start narrowing it like step 56 starts to show you, then you will have to go back to step 52 and figure out what you need to change on the leg to get it to work with you. I got so fed up with this part of the original diagram that I eventually found a way past it, but I don't have a chocobo in progress right now, so I can't really show you at this moment. Whenever I find out where the origami paper went in my room, I'll start another one and try to help a bit with it.

Really the best way to approach this origami diagram is that just because there are a lot of steps doesn't mean that you need to get it correct on the first try. The legs are especially difficult to get to look nice, so learn as much as you can about them now, when you're first starting out.
