Would /po/ like it's own minimal rule forums to play around in, so that their posts won't be delated?
>> Papercraft Forums OP
If so, I'll make one for you guys
>> Anonymous
why didn't the Mods delete the spam and not the entire board for one
>> KidIron
Yes, please!
I am sick and tired of being this close to /b/.
I'm even starting to smell like them. [Ew]
>> Papercraft Forums OP
All right, give me a few days, I'll report back here lets say... monday. (it's friday now) So, yeah, keep an eye on the /op/ for the announcement.
>> Papercraft Forums OP
One more qeastion, should it be Image BBS like this, or a forum.
>> Categories OP
What categories would you guys like for posting the paper crafts. I already thought of Anime, Video Games, and Random.
>> Anonymous
How about Mech, because even though they're normally from animes or video games, they deserve their own category. Also, maybe a sort by artist thing. Maybe a seperate category for Hakos.

Definitely one for newbie papercrafts, and have a sticky with "What paper should I use?" and "What do I need?" and all that crap answered.

Categories listed like that are good I think

Forum style would be good, easier to look over and navigate, I hate having to hunt all the way down the pages for what I want

>>50143
But this [bbs] format, allows for easy skimming, thus raising the rate of serendipitous occurrences. I mean. I never go into /po/ looking for a certain thing, I just scan through the thread and stop when something catches my eye. You can't do that in a forum. Especially when threads get derailed so often.
How do you plan to host this, OP? There might be a big data throughput depending on how many people convert.

I have hosting already set up, with alot of bandwith, 100gigs I belive per mounth. Uhm, I'm leaning twoards the forums structure myself, It's easyer to organize, but I might also include an image bbs if I feel like it
>> Catigories OP
I won't have all those catigories, becuase some can be combined, but good list.

I say we should go for using FileDen.com for own hosting, I'm so sick of Rapidshare and Megaupload!
>> Anonymous? KidIron
>>50149
That's a good bandwidth cap. [Who's hosting this, might I ask?]
On second thought, go with the forum. Though you might be interested in this: http://www.trevorchan.org/
One last question, will you allow anonymous posting? [Look at this from both angles before you answer]
>> Papercraft Forums OP
Anon posting -- Yes, but with limited cabablities, member will be able to PM and etc while anon's will not. As far as files go, I might have a upload form for images, BUT, I won't save the image for a long time, while posts will be saved, I suggest you get a photo bucket or something to host your images to ensure they never dissapear. Although, I might make my upload form perminate, while looking at my side (the whole "I can't use up all my storage space") what do you think I should do?
>> Anonymous
I think that it should be an image bbs, but not broken into a lot of categories. Likened to what KidIron said, I also hunt and peck for neat things at random more or less. So these are the categories I would suggest:

Basics - this is where stickies about papers to use and glue would be
Mecha - anything mechanical from video games or anime
Orga - anything organic like people or cats
Chara - characters from cartoons, anime, or video games
Automata - things what move
Vehi - planes, trains, and automobiles
scifi/fantasy - starships and vehicles and whatnot from scifi/fantasy
structa - structures like castles and lighthouses
props - guns, swords, clubs, masks; anything that replicates a lifesize item real world or not.
misc - all those wierd little bobbles, geometric shapes, and doo-dads

When it comes to the stuff I release, I usually keep my templates in vector-PDF form, since you don't have any pixelation that might occur during printing. Now those files are pretty big.[?] Usually about 4-44 megs each depending on the image/texture size. People like me will definitely make your bandwidth allotment go down the hole.
Is there any way we could see the monthly data rates of this board?
[I don't think I answered anything in this post, hmm]
>> Papercraft Forums OP
Hmmm, well I can always look at the mounthy rates in my Cpanel, but like I said, offsite upload would be nice for such large files. Tell you what, I'll go set it up now (in about 3 hours and such) and we'll go from there.
>> Anonymous
Will it require sign up to access or post?

I would not mind signing up or signing in to post something.
>> Papercraft Forums OP
Like I said, you CAN login, and you will get more privileges if you do, but you may also post without logging in.
>> Anonymous
I am totally for this. What a great idea. :)

Fuck, if you guys want a board, it isn't hard.
It didn't even take 5 minutes to get this running:
http://www.anonib.com/_paper/

(you can make accounts as well, but I don't think it has a PM system - I'm still waiting on an answer from the site admin concerning one being put in)

Shit, if you guys actually use it and make it work, I'll hand out moderator passwords to people I don't think will fuck it up.

Also, for file hosting:
http://files-upload.com/

It's the best host around, they have a limit of 300 MB upload via HTTP and a limit of 1GB via FTP. You have absolutely no download limits, and files are only deleted 6 full months after the last download.
Of course there's a counter that makes you wait to download, as there often is with these kinds of websites, but it tends to be a LOT shorter than others. (It only made me wait 15 seconds to download a 500MB file)
The only real downside though, is that the downloads tend to be limited in speed. I usually cap out around 40-50kB/s.
But thinking about the fact that there's no download limit, I don't stress over the speed limit.

Right, and I have an account which I never use and could easily use to host papercraft and origami, which I might do soon.
But, I would only upload P&O made by users of the board who gave permission. Copyright infringement can be a serious bitch.

It will be a little sad to leave /po/, but hell yeah, I'm in.
>> Papercraft Forums OP
Dear fucker who made the gayass site.

Go die, mine will be ten times better. suck on shit.
>> digerman3
i will maybe go to that site but still stay on 4chan
>> Papercraft Forums OP
My site is going to be IPB based (yeah, I have a IPB licence, and it's alos going to have an upload and down form. here's a demo of the upload form: http://www.uploadscript.net/demo/

>>50276
Geez, I don't know, If you're gonna freak out about someone making a board, I'm not going to get too excited over your forums.
>> Papercraft Forums OP
Sorry, it just seems rude to go off an make a website, when someone else was already working hard on one.
>> Anonymous
>>50276
God damn, you're a fucking cunt. If no one uses the page I set up, no skin off of my back. I was just showing that it was easy to set them up. Especially when you have something as nice as anonib around which does all of the work for you.
Besides, if your setup is better, end of story, it's better. So don't be such a cunt.

Having an upload form is great and all, but how effective will it really be? How much space does your server hold?
Also, were you just bragging about having an IPB license? Whatever.

Anyway, cheers cockbag.
>> Papercraft Forums OP
Ok i officially retract my apology, go fuck yourself buddy, my site has no limit, I have UNLIMITED upload, and a limit of 200gigs of space!

No, you can really Eat shit and die.

Does not compute.
