Hey, sauce!

Not like me to bump stuff like this, but I don't like any cat patterns that I have in my origami collection... and this one is WONDERFUL. If you don't have the pattern, at least share the source...

I am not positive, but I do believe this is a creation of David Brill. I attended the South East Origami Festival in Charlotte, NC back in 2002 and he was there. He taught us how to make the cat and about how he was experimenting with equilateral triangle bases (of which the cat uses), but I do not remember how to make it, sadly. I do still have mine however, and it looks remarkably similar to that one.

Bingo. That was enough info to find more pictures of it on the web. No instructions yet... but at least I now know the author.

Here is mine. David Brill gave us the option of allowing the cat to "sit up" as well as an inversion step that would give the cat white legs, rather than leaving the cat monotone. Other than the equilateral triangle base, that is all that I can remember about this cat.

omfg!! i want to know how to do this °_°
i'll follow this post...

If you can give instructions for said base, I might be able to come close, now that we have multiple angles of pictures of said cat. I wouldn't mind the patterns for the accessories as well.

Alas, I am out of town and won't have access to the cat for a few days. I do not remember how to start the base, and I would rather not try and take it apart. I have a few more pictures on my computer, but no more helpful than the ones you already have. I will take a peek at it when I get home, if no one has found instructions yet.

I'll search as much as I can over the weekend. Don't destroy your cat; I'll keep trying to find anything on Mr. Brill's equilateral triangle bases.

Ok, I have several more pictures of my version of the cat (I believe the pictures found online are of a slightly different version). I can post them if you feel like it would help, but I can't even start to guess how to disassemble this sucker. There are a lot of "touch up folds" which were applied at the end to give the cat a more rounded and finished appearance.
