Most North American modelers use Elmer's or Aleene's Tacky glue; they are both PVA (polyvinly acetate) based glues with water, and must be used sparingly, especially since water wrinkles paper. Aleene's has less water. A lot of European modelers like the solvent based Uhu, or Uhu Alleskleber, which has no water, doesn't wrinkle paper, and dries into a rubbery, stringy, film, like rubber cement. You can get some Uhu brands in NA, but not the good solvent based stuff. I found something similar at a craft store, "Zip Dry paper glue," it might be worth trying if PVA is not your thing.
