So I think I'm gonna try to make a papercraft helmet/visor hat thing, since that seems to be the easiest method of creating it with my limited funds. It's part of an original character, so no real model of it yet exists, and I've only really drawn it once or twice and created it in Second Life back when someone on a message board convince my stupid ass that it was really great for creating stuff (hint: it wasn't.)

How does /po/ think I should go about it? Try and draw the flat design through trial and error? Or build a low-poly version of it in some 3d-modeling program and download pepakura designer and put it into that?

I fear I may have answered my own question with that last option, so also post any wearable papercrafts you may have.

Picture unrelated but interesting in order to attract attention.

Depends on at which you're best: if you suck at 3D modelling, the trial and error method means you won't have to spend all day behind the computer with no idea what you're doing.
If you can do basic 3D modelling, you should be able to make a simple visor to unfold in Pepakura Designer.
The answer you seek lies within yourself. Or something like that.

Thread on making wearable Daft Punk helmets. They both started with 3d models and were then imported into Pep. Might be a bit of inspiration or make you decide to do it 2d.
