this was posted a while back, and i dont get step 4.

could someone explain it/draw it more clearly?

shit, this is a horrible diagram.

if you're decent at origami, you should be able to work out step 1.. crease vertically and horizontally, then the angle bisectors and get the other folds from that.

step 2 is okay..

3 just fold the outside edge along the centre fold.

4 is kind of long to explain.

never mind

im fine with steps 1-3, but step 4 confuses the crap out of me

was that meant to help? i mean, the thread was created to ask about the 4th step, yet you just explain the previous ones... whatever, step 4 confuses me too. anyone there with an answer?

I'm not sure on this, but I'm pretty sure this is what step 4 is going for:

The double reverse isn't too complicated. You just do one inside reverse fold, then another, tucking that triangle of paper away. The "outside wrap" is a little harder to explain. From the following steps, it appers as if you take the front flap of that diamond section, and kind of force it to flip over and around to the back of the model. This step either involves a lot of unfolding and then refolding, or kind of just forcing the paper through, and accepting any extra creases or wrinkles that come along for the ride.

Yeah, that's what that step is going for. The double reverse fold is two reverse folds, the first going inward, and the second pushing back outward based on the highlighted creases in step 4.

I usually don't see a wrap in origami, probably because even the creators see them as such a pain. Also, there are two creases that are shown in step 5 for the square at the top that might help with the outside wrap in step 4.

Because of the outside wrap in step 4, you'll need to use a piece of paper that's the same color on both sides. If you fold this with a piece of paper that's colored on one side, then the head and neck will end up a different color from the body.

Also, I think step 7 might be inaccurate, or if it's accurate, then the head for the diagrams after it are off. Then there's also the possibility that I might have screwed up, but it couldn't possibly be that.
