After seeing a few peoples first papercrafts I realised that I picked a really hard one, in comparison.

I made a fuchikoma, posted it in the 'show off what you've done' and tbh, it wasn't difficult. When I see people who have made basically a box with a face and said it was only their first, I don't understand why we're meant to think it's good :/

What do you guys think?

The whole point of this post was for people to post pictures of their first papercraft, but I kind of dribbled off. So yeah, pictures of your first papercraft would be good :]

Pic obviously unrelated, already posted a picture of my first. (>>57659)

Pfft, I'm so hardcore my first papercraft was REX.

My first was the T-Rex from Canon. Yea, it was pretty easy. But dude, don't be a dick :)

Re-reading the post, it doesn't seem like a "show your first, because if it's hard that makes you 'leet", it's, "Show off what you've actually made", instead of just "Show what you like to ask for, because they're cool".

Now let this thread die, cause there's no /po in it.

Oh, and that comment was actually directed toward the /op, not the one I >>'ed :)

Papercraft is a matter of trial and error...
I used my favorite scissors and it chewed the paper so I adopted a new smaller scissor... The glue kept sticking to my finger so I decided to aply it with a broken toothpick...

Don't be disapointed about your first papercraft...

My first was Metal gear rex and it took about three months (uncontinued work obviuosly... Between classes and essays.) I hate to cut... I folded and glued all the pieces together in eight hours... And I had to reprint the left "arm" because the glue dried too fast (because of my noobance) and it sucked.

Last advice:TAKE YOUR TIME! If you rush a construction then you'll blow all the fun and perfectness out of it.

Lol, I just started doing this on Thursday.

Moot and mini moot were my first ones. As you can probably see, I got carried away with the glue in the neck area. I was really excited about doing this so I rushed through, and it totally sucks. So if anyone who hasn't even done a papercraft yet is reading this, listen to>>57725and take your time. D:

Right now I'm working on Dejiko from Di Gi Charat. >;3

OP of the show off thread here. Thats exactly what I meant it as, show off what you did. Even if its all just Hako clones, thats cool. Just show em, and maybe throw a couple templates our way.

They're not all that hard, to be honest. I'm doing that big RX-78 and its not all that difficult. You just have to make sure all the pieces fit together. The only difficulties I've had are bad instructions

A stylistic question: is the angularity of many papercraft figures a bug or a feature? i.e. if it's possible to smooth things out, should one?

makes for a harder craft, but can be done.

The Battle Cruiser was my first one. Guess you're not the only one who didn't take a very simple one at first. (google and ye shall find the damn template, I write this because I KNOW someone wants to have it)
