looks more like the cartoony look from sketchup to me; a very easy program that's perfect for simple shapes like these

Fuck it, good luck trying to figure it out, I'm having trouble and I have the original model to look at.

Did you let Pepakura do all the unfolding?
Well don't. It will try to keep everything connected as as much as possible and will scale down the development to fit on 1 page. YOU have to decide where you want the program to cut and where you want it to fold.
And maybe you find it too difficult because the parts are so small? In that case: open up your project in Pepakura Designer, and with the development ready, click "DevelopedViewWindow" -> "Scale Up Development" (or "Scale Development To Specified Size"). That way you can make the parts bigger.

I keep telling you guys, don't just import your models in Pepakura and expect something magical to happen... You'll have to do *some* thinking yourself.

so edit like you talk and up yhe new version =D

I dont know how hard this version is, the one I was working on was straight from pepakura, but on this one I changed the cutting adges as much as I could, this is as good as I could get it, and I dont have a registered version of pepakura, so the only way I can get the template is to use the copy to bmp button, but that has a size limit.

You should never try to build anything that comes straight out of Pepakura (unless it's a cube maybe). I can imagine your frustration...

And about that not being able to save the template: can you print it? Because maybe you could scale up the development to a decent size, arange the parts so that they all fit on different pages (meaning one part isn't on two pages), and "print" it to a pdf using a pdf printer?

There's a tutorial on how to design paper (Homeworld) models using Pepakura (http://www.ericksmodels.com/paper/paper.html) and it also explains this step at http://www.ericksmodels.com/paper/other/other.html

That was almost too easy, thanks.

No prob; it's just something you know or don't know (untill someone tells you).

Some of the parts still seem to be small though. I guess the part that limits the size of the template is the blade that needs to fit on a page: I can understand why you want it to keep it together of course. Maybe you could rotate it so that it's diagonally on the page? It can still be a little bigger that way.

Just keep playing with Pepakura: I learn to use most computer programs that way. There are more features like editing tabs and erasing fold lines you don't need (if you erase those on the hilt, you can roll it like a true cylinder instead of a segmented one).

Good luck, I hope you'll be able to perfect your model, I'm sure many people will like it!

astalavista actualy have crack to pepakura =D

The Pepakura site also has a way to pay for the full version.

But 'alas, no point in telling the 4Chan community I'm sure.
I wonder why Innerbrain stopped making paper models like the Eva Units, so that now everyone does have Units 00 and 01 for free, but everybody is also sad because there's no Innerbrain Unit 02?
Kinda like kicking in your own windows. ;o)

Yeah, it's really worth getting your computer infected with all kinds of spyware from visiting those warez and crack sites for something you can work around by setting up a pdf printer...
