Why I didn't make the Twilight Princess version of Link? Because I like the classic look of this one more (and yes, I already know many of you disagree with me)

It's probably more detailed than some of you would like, and it's probably less detailed than some of you would like. Meaning it's quite difficult.

There are direct links for the SITX-versions, and RapidShares in the regular ZIP-format for those that feel no particular urge to download the free StuffIt Expander from http://www.stuffit.com/win/expander/ (you're gonna have to use RapidShare anyway if the bandwidth limit gets exceeded)

just like chamoo, ninjatoes has very good built models, but design-wise, its not very pretty. most people dont want to build their models (they get discouraged) because its very fragmented (maybe due to the fact that their models are extracted from videogame content) - unlike the ones from chokipeta which has easy form and easy to build - a lot of people would be more inclined to build models if it was designed the right way to begin with. dont get me wrong, Im not trying to put down their works, i like their papecraft models a lot, all im trying to do is show a new perspective towards papercrafting so that many would come and join us.
>> Anonymous
i feel somewhat half and half on the issue, on the other hand its true, on the other and i dont want to admit it,lol
i see your point on chamoo though, when she makes it from scratch, it turns out good build, but when extracted from game, like the 3 head dog, it is scattered.
but i changed my mind so STFU

the models are difficult to build, yes. but here is the thing. I don't care if people look at models and are like "i won't build that it is too hard". If you are not willing to sit down and put in the many tideous, and yes papercrafting is tedious, hours of work for a model then GTFO go watch tv or eat a cheese sandwich and leave papercrafting to those who are willing to put in the work.

On the other I agree that this model along with several other could be improved upoon, but almost all models can be made better. If the model was made into less pieces it would look nicer and be easier to build, but i am greatful that ninjatoes and chamoo323 take the time to make these models, because they are really cool models that i would like to make but very rarely get the chance to work on.

That was very long to just say Thanks Ninja Toes and if the models can be made into less pieces then please do that.

It's just as the guy says: >>It's probably more detailed than some of you would like, and it's probably less detailed than some of you would like.

ah! people learn to read

its not about whos willing to do the tedious work or not, its about making them user-friendly so that we could encourage more people to get into this kind of hobby
>> Anonymous
This will look great next the Young Link I just made. thanks Ninjatoes

>>57014its about making them user-friendly so that we could encourage more people to get into this kind of hobby
Excuse me WTF?? Every papercraft needs to be of skill level 1 or else nobody will do papercraft?? That's like... so NOT true... I GUARANTEE you there will be people that will make this their first papercraft ever, exactly BECAUSE it looks this good and not so simple like so many others, and they WILL finish it just because it's Link from Zelda and they LOVE to have this sitting on their desk.

>>57016
lol Yeah I'm guessing Ninja Toes got a lot of people hooked on papercraft...

Hi Yaaaaaa!

WOoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Me lub you long time.. Need to print this smaller though 20 CM to big.. To big mista.

>>57017
lol it all started with the young link for me
>> Anonymous
exactly the point i was trying to make, most of you newbs have associated this kind of papercrafting (fragmented/cubism)with difficulty. id like to use chokipetas progression from cubism papercraft to his current models as a general example, but you guys seem to have no idea about that.
>> Anonymous
>>57023exactly the point i was trying to make
Liar, you were just rambling about "oh no, this sucks so bad, it's so many small parts, nobody (you probably meant yourself) will be able to build it that's why it's so bad!"
/po/ is not fooled by you.
>> Anonymous
would you fancy making samus aran?
>> Anonymous
Another awesome papercraft, another bitch-fight.

Very cool Link, I might make it once I get all of my other Work-in-Progress's out of the way.
>> Paper Witch !!Cgu+cfuG8aQ
Ninjatoes...you are mighty!
>> Anon
Ninjatoes does Zelda like no one else. And his stuff is totally buildable. Don't be a wuss.
>> Anonymous
Ninjatoes will you plan on making samus aran one day?
>> Anonymous
should Links face and cheeks look that fat?

damn he's chubby

Eh, it's more the lighting of the picture, in other pics he looks pretty normal

can somone post some pdf's of it? How do you open the stix file?

>>57088

Are you blind, dumb or both?
>> Anonymous
goddammit what the fuck is wrong with you people???
I swear, every time I see a really nice original papercraft posted, people complain about the SMALLEST shit.
Stop fucking nitpicking and enjoy the work that these guys post. this is a HOBBY after all.
Now then, thanks for the awesome papercraft Ninjatoes. I'm gonna print this off and build it after I finish my current projects. :3 keep up the awesome work!
>> Anonymous
so it specifically says to use cardstock, something that i've noticed is usually optional in the instructions... but can it still be made with regular paper?
>> Anonymous
>>57098
I'm sure you can do it.
it'll prolly just be a little less stable/flimsy
this is a pretty bulky looking model.
>> Anonymous
>>57098

If you want it to be sturdy at all one bit then you need sturdy paper >_>
>> Anonymous
>>57004
I agree with this. I found that many of the parts of Young Link could have easially been connected to make larger portions. Soo many small bits make it take much longer and harder to assemble.

That being said, these are awesome models, and your doing awesome work, but perhaps you could keep this in mind for your next project :)

>>57124
I actually find it harder usually when some parts are kept connected to make one, big part on some models. Sure, it's more work (actually just one cut+tab more for each disconnected part) to cut it out, but I find it easier to handle one part with a simple shape, rather than to have one complex part that you need to shape and fold in 10 different ways.
But that's just me, and you guys are you, everybody has his or own preference. One method is not better or worse than the other I think.
>> fivdollah
i agree with what you're saying
when i build models like this, i do the absolute minimum of scoring. i think that paper's ability to curve and make rounded shapes is lost when models are ripped from vg content. however, all of ninjatoes legend of zelda models were definitely huge amounts of work, and they are all fucking epic. making a papercraft from scratch without making it from a 3D model is most likely waaaaay too much work.
>> Anonymous
can anyone make this into pdfs? I can't work with sitx files. cool papercraft, though I agree that it looks too small and complicated.

>>57144
It IS in pdf... Read the third line on the site: http://members.home.nl/saarloos/ to learn how to open sitx files, or just download the zip-version from http://members.home.nl/saarloos/zeldamodels.htm#SSBM%20adult%20Link

or just read OP, it's explained right there

The only problem I have with lots of sectioning of parts is it makes the cuts show more on the final. In ways it'a a matter of how much time you're willing to take on the model, but alot of it could be drastically reduced. For example, look at the face. Even if you're careful, the layering of the paper is going to show the lines.

Also, if you keep the amount of pieces down, it keeps in accuracy. If you get an angle just slightly off, it could mess up a whole area. If you have less pieces, then it'll help to keep stabalizing any mistakes.

Never heard of this "SITX" compression

I have no intentions of downloading and installing another fuggin compression program

WinRar from Rarlabs.com is great enough, there's no need to throw in more wild compression file types to confuse people.

He COULD be on a mac, you know...and is it really that much of an issue? Between winrar and stuffit you should be covered...

I don't get it... Some people keep complaining about the SITX format; so get the ZIP version. What's the problem??

I think you're being a little confusing: I think you're talking about the number of polygons, not so much the number of pieces/parts (although they're related of course).
If you have the same number of polygons, it doesn't matter if you cut a model up in 10, 20 or 30 pieces: you'll have the same amount of cutting and folding to do (since each polygon needs to be folded and joined to another polygon, the number of edges doesn't dramatically decrease: each time you join two parts the number of edges decreases by the staggering amount of 1, so it doesn't make much difference).
The real difference comes when you reduce the amount of polygons, and that's a choice of the designer. This one has a lot of polygons, because it's very detailed (I took a look at the templates, didn't build it yet of course... and even all the fingers are seperate fingers!)
I made many papercrafts, small and big, difficult and easy, and I never found the layering of the paper very distracting from the beauty of the model. I don't even color the white edges, since I don't mind them (I use 110 lbs cardstock, fairly thick). But I think the trick is you shouldn't want to examine your finished papercrafts at point blank range under a microscope to actively seek out all the imperfections, you should place them on a shelf or wherever and then sit in your chair, doing whatever it is you do and from time to time look up and admire your work from a distance of over 3 feet away. Then you'll be all like: wow, I did a great job, damn that looks good! instead of: dammit I hate that edge underneath his left foot!!
