I saw a life size ppaercraft (cardboard) one at my local theaters, it was pretty good, didn't use glue, just mechanical connections

I would probably call that an "advertisement" rather than "papercraft."

Still, a life-size Wall-E would be pretty cool.

Steal it, then make a papercraft out of it by copying the design

i work in a theatre and we do have one. unfortunately STUPID disney takes those back cuz they are evil. if stealing is option there are 4 zip ties holding it to the top of the box :-D

How big is it? Can you even scan it using a flatbed scanner?
Because big size scanners usually roll the to be scanned item, and I got a hunch it's on thick cardbaord rather than flimsy paper that won't be rolled very easily...

It's pretty big. I'd say about 4 feet tall and 2 and a half feet wide. But that's just me guessing, I wasn't up close to it when I saw it.

Fixed. ;) That's probably the biggest problem if you want to share it with us. If you could scan it, you could just borrow it rather than steal it (though in the end it's still stealing obviously).

Secretly cut all but one tie.
Rush in, cut last tie, run with it, use gettaway car.
Take measurements and geometrically reproduce the pattern.
Carefully take straight-on photos from maximum distance (will help make the image perspective flat).
Stretch and adjust photos onto pattern.

If you live in a nice enough town (meaning, anywhere other than where I live) the movie theater will probably let you take measurements of it.
