i'm new to /po/, and would like a project to start me on my path to papercraft mastery. Any good suggestions?
>> ANONyMOUSe
Don't start with a too much simple /po
or you'll bore

what subjects are in your interests?
car? robots? human figures?
or what else?

a robot would be neat to start with. animals would be interesting too, but that seems more like an origami thing.

Thank you incredibly for that link, Anon. Do you know of anywhere else I can find birds?
>> Excellent! OP
Thank you for these projects to work on! I have a few questions though, since I am very new to papercraft.

What is the choice paper of papercrafters? What should I use for glue? are there any introductory tips or pointers that a first time crafter should know?

110lb cardstock is preferred, though for some models plain printer paper should be alright (well, plain paper is always ok but cardstcok is sturdier).

for glue i use elmer's school glue as do most /po/eple, but i've heard of scrapbooking glue, super glue, wood glue, double sided tape, and everything down the list to semen. i recommend elmer's school glue.

as for beginners tips, go for papercraft with fold lines, spread your glue very thinly, and think things through before gluing. can't tell you how many times i've glued something i was sure went where i was puting it just because it fit, only to find out after i assemble more pieces that it was supposed to go elsewhere

good luck

Paper: cardstock 160-200 gsm (grams per square meter) or 90-110 lbs if I'm not mistaken.
Glue: any good paper glue: white PVA glue (Elmer is a brand name in the US) basically carpenter's woodglue. I'd stay away from gluesticks or those hot glue and power glues, but some people do use them with success.

I tryed white glue but paper became wet and ondulate...
In Europe we have U-HU glue (I don't know if is selled worldwide)that is my best choice for paper.

I know this relies more on the designer than the builder, but I can't stress how important good instructions are. I just finished the giant gundam, and never would have been able to do it if it didnt come with good instructions. Bad ones are why I scrapped Masamune Washinton's RX-78, and also why I haven't started the big EVA-01 also.

The EVA 01 has pretty good instructions... >.>

And just to add to the thread;

I use plain printer paper, cause I can't be bothered to get better stuff and Bostik all purpose adhesive

looks like super glue or 'krazy glue' to me

I've had UHU glue but it was silicone-ish, dunno if the same case here
