A4 is a papersize used in all countries except the US.
ISO A4 size= 210 mm x 297 mm (8.26 inch x 11.69 inch)
US Letter (closest thing)= 8.5 inch x 11 inch (215.9 mm x 279.4 mm)

Just make sure if you print fit to page, all the pages are printed at the same scale, and it isn't scaled different horizontally than vertically (Windows Viewer on XP will do this, use another program to print) Pdf s prevent this automatically I believe.

Paperweight: it's better to print on cardstock (160-200 grams per square meter, or gsm, or 110-160 lbs should be about the same). If you don't have cardstock and don't want to buy any (it's more expensive than regular paper) you CAN use regular printer paper (80 gsm) but it will just be a bit flimsier to handle due to the thinner paper.
There's a beginner's tutorial at Yamaha, just don't apply the glue with your finger...

thanks, very helpful. is there a certain type of printer that is better to use? ink jet printers seem to make the paper soggy if there is too much color.

Inkjets are better than laserjets; laserjets basically melt tiny particles of plastic to the paper. When you fold it, this layer often cracks a little...
Just wait for the ink to dry thoroughly, papercraft is a hobby for the patient ones. ;)

Nothing wrong with applying the glue with your finger if you know what you're doing and it's not like Krazy Glue (in which case, that would be quite foolish of you). It is in fact appropriate if you are using normal Elmer's white glue or blue gel glue. The main keys, then, are to not spread the color around (wet inkjet-printed paper is not fun) and to avoid warping the paper with your body heat.

Perhaps, but I still think it's best to use a small strip of cardstock you can just cut off the excess of the template. Keeps your fingers clean so you can use all your fingers to handle the papercraft, instead of having to constantly wipe your fingers or constantly having to try to steer your "glue-finger" clear from your model.

Does anyone have the template for this? I'd love to pay homage to the most badass kid ever.
