Dammit, spoke too soon.
>> GoblinGuy
All right, onto the bad news (even though I have two more pokemon to scan, slowking and lugia).

So here are the magazines that I ordered (or thought I was ordering)

Magazine containing:
Chatot
Chimchar
Turtwig
Piplup
Lucario

Here's what I received
Magazine containing
Chatot
Chimchar
Piplup
Lucario

Here's the one's that didn't have the papercraft already torn out
Chatot
Chimchar.

So here's the bad news. I have the magazines that would contain Piplup and Lucario, but the papercraft inserts have already been torn out by someone else. However, I did get the instructions to both Piplup and Lucario (they came in seperate books, the small ones you see in the first picture) so if you want me to, I can scan those. Maybe hope for a reconstruction based off of the pictures? Yes? No?
>> Anonymous !bgREVLN8FU
>>161911
Hell, I'm decent at Photoshop. Pull up the Lucario pics and I'll see if I don't give up within ten minutes.
>> Anonymous
and I can try with the piplup
>> GoblinGuy
>>161912
All right.

I've got a favor to ask of /po/, also. I really want to build the models I got today, but I don't want to tear into the originals, nor do I want to waste that much ink. So I'm /r/ing a cleanup of what I've posted so far.

Onto more (little) bad news. The Slowking is JUUUUST a little bit big for my scanner. I can't fit the whole thing in. And the lugia is WAAAAY too big for my scanner. So I'm going to have to take it somewhere else to scan it. And not Kinko's.

Let me get on scanning those instructions.
>> Anonymous !bgREVLN8FU
>>161913
And I'll form the head!

If I give up on the Lucario instructions, I'll do a good cleanup of the others.

>> GoblinGuy
>>161921
Heh. It's all right. If you've built a few Chokipeta models, you can see some of the parts and how they're built just by looking at the finished picture or the set of instructions. This only works for some parts. I can see some of the parts in my head, but there's no way I could ever draw them.

Japan's Yahoo auction site. It's like the Japanese eBay. Most sellers won't ship internationally, so you have to go through a different company, like Rinkya. This is expensive as hell, though. In total I spent over 150 dollars for these.

You're welcome? I'll get right on Chimchar, too.

Also, How exactly are the Lugia and Slowking crafts extra huge? Are they like foldouts?
>> GoblinGuy
>>161943
Those are guides for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. I think they just used Turtwig on the "1" because it was the first of the new basic three.

In any case, Lucario's instructions are on the back of that book, and everything on the inside is a guide.

They're stickers designed to look and work like papercraft. On the right side there is a plain sheet of paper for size comparison. The plain sheet of paper is how big my scanner is. As you can see, Slowking is just a tad too big, and Lugia is way too big.

First off, thanks Goblin Guy for uploading these templates and instructions. I'm on a slow connection, so as soon as not4changrab gets done downloading the pictures I want from this thread, I'll start looking at cleaning up the background on the 4 clank pages and look at the instructions for lucario and piplup. If I think I might be able to reconstruct those two, then I will, but I might ask for extra pictures of those two pokemon to make sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. Maybe something will click and give me insight as to how the chokipeta squirtle's body looks like on paper and we'll get 3 complete reconstructions out of this if we're incredibly lucky. Well, the first two Clank jpgs are done downloading, so I'll get to work on those now.
>> GoblinGuy
>>162092
Ah, wonderful! I'm almost done with Chimchar, so I would like to start Clank as soon as I can.

And I only wish you the best of luck with reconstructing the Piplup papercraft. Piplup was actually the one I wanted most, along the lines of "all of the other models can be torn out, just PLEASE let Piplup still be there". I understand completely if you can't do it, though. It's not an easy thing.

The instructions look like they are detailed enough that I might be able to figure out a similar model, but I'd like to put some of chokipeta's other models together first, just to get reaquainted with them.

     File :-(, x)
>>162506
That's because he's on 4 pages instead of 2 like all the other models that you posted. That more than makes up for the surface area lost by the smaller page size. There's also the fact that the pokemon characters are usually stubbier, like two spheres put together with short legs. Geometry, algebra, and preliminary trigonometry are the only types of math that I've ever had much use for. It's too bad that I suck at any type of math that I can't use in daily life, otherwise I could have been a scientist instead of an artist.

But what I really meant to post here about is that I've started working on a rough draft of Piplup. Here's an MSpaint-style sketch, and I have another one that's a more refined idea for the body.
>> Jen

If someone would like to, then he or she can print this out and see if it works and give me any feedback on what should be changed, or what you want changed. Otherwise, I can't guarantee that whatever I make will be something that anyone can make well. I stopped keeping track of most of the characters after Mew. I still felt that wasn't bad for being in middle school when it first came over to the USA. By the time it caught on, I was in high school.

Pokemon has remained popular simply because Japan has refined the art of marketing to kids. There's the cartoon, the games, and the toys. As long as one part of the triangle is still popular, it fuels the other two.

Wonderfully wonderful. I can't start on it right this second, but sometime within the next 24 hours I'll build it. I can't thank you enough.

I still buy the games, actually, because they're still fun, even though they're the same thing over and over. And I do have a guilty pleasure of watching a new episode every now and then... even though it's the same thing over and over.

Hey Gobinguy I didn't read your previous message before about turtwig. I'll see what other pokemon models are in this thread. Been off /po for 2 weeks and don't know what the heck is going on.

So, Goblin, have you talked to the guy who sold you the not-Piplup and Lucario models? Any chances of a monetary settlement? Or Masamune?
>> GoblinGuy
>>163534
I have no idea who I bought it from, and even if I did, I don't speak Japanese. I really didn't expect to get any models from these magazines, because they're so old. I knew these magazines originally contained some of the models, but had no way of knowing if they were still there. So basically I was bidding on magazines with nothing in them, to my knowledge. It just so happens that I did get some, and I'd say I came out more on top than anything.

I printed out Lugia, and it seems that I shouldn't have made one set of lines lighter like I decided to do. When it prints, the cut lines for the feet look like the same line for folding. It's a cut line that makes the heel of the feet and the back of the legs.
I've corrected the problem in a second version. I'll upload it in a moment. I'll just use this as an excuse to turn lugia into a 2 page pdf.
>> Jen
     File :-(, x)
>>163610
Scratch that. I don't like how small it looks on the page. Here's another version of page 1 that's easier to tell where the cut line is.
>> GoblinGuy
>>163614
Very good. The cutline is hard to tell because since they're stickers, you don't have to cut, it's already cut for you. Thanks for correcting this, I didn't even notice it before.
>> Anonymous
Now, are you sure that these (stickers) are Chokipeta models? They look exactly like the Jupiter Co stickers but the site doesn't list them (nor Chokipeta's).
>> Jen
>>163622
I think they're from Jupiter Co. I didn't realize anyone thought otherwise until someone posted it as Chokipeta on the wiki. It's an honest mistake. Heck, someone will probably want to edit the lugia post on wikidot anyway because of the foot cutting guideline issue.

>>163615
I'm just glad I printed it out and saw the problem this soon.

>>163504
Thanks!
>> GoblinGuy
>>163622
They are from Jupiter Co., not Chokipeta. Whoever put them on the wiki just made a mistake.
>> Anonymous
>>163635
Sorry guys, I thought Jupiter was just another name for Chokipeta. Wiki pages changed.

No problem, and thanks.

On another note, another package from Japan is going to be shipped within 2-3 days, and it will take 3-7 days after shipped to get here. Stay tuned...

Kickass, do you know if any models are inside or is it another gamble?
Also, I'd love to have a japanese magazine. They're so colorful.

Yes, this one is not a gamble. I saw the template. I'd love to tell you what it is, but I'd rather keep you in suspense should anything go wrong.

Pretties! Keep up the good work.

>>163902
It's an easy mistake to make with how many people Chokipeta has worked for. The models don't always end up with the name Chokipeta, for example, the Graffiti Lab models. Plus, a lot of the models discussed in this thread are from Chokipeta, which adds to the confusion. Thanks for being willing to upload and edit these models on the wiki.

Please don't, he might be creating false suspense and just give us a Turtwig instead.

/po/, I got a package today. A package from Japan. This one has one magazine. Hmm, I WONDER what could be in it!

Unfortunately, you will have to wonder, too. I'm in the middle of cleaning up a room right now. I didn't even expect to get the package today. You'll get what I got later, though. I can promise you that you won't be disappointed!

You have filled my summer with much win thus far.
>> Jen
Just checking in to let you know that I'm going to be with my boyfriend for a few days, so I'm not at home now. I don't have Photoshop here, so someone else will have to edit any models that get scanned in if you want them soon.
>> Anonymous !bgREVLN8FU
I'd do it, but I'min San Diego for the rest of the month, so you are unfortunately out of luck.
>> Jen
>>165020
I was wondering if you were out of town. You jumped on the first set of scans so quickly that I found it odd that it didn't happen again with slowking and lugia.

I hope San Diego is treating you well. I've only been paying attention to the monsoon season in AZ and whether anyone near Riverside, CA is having trouble with fires because I have friends and family there.
I hate California traffic too much to really want to visit there again. The people aren't bad, but the roads are. I think the roads have suffered because most engineers in CA can make more money in Silicon Valley than in construction.
>> GoblinGuy
Sorry guys.

1) This thread has reached 200 posts. It will no longer be bumped when replied to.

2) I've been gone all day, and I have to go immediately so no time to scan. I'm not getting home for nearly 5-6 hours, and by then I'll have been awake for almost twenty hours. If you're lucky, I'll get these to you today, but you probably won't be, so you'll probably get them tomorrow. Sorry.

Yep, San Diego is fine, although the lack of materials has left me craftless. Maybe I'll draw those /po/eple models I've been wanting to sketch up. And the Kagami/Konata model. And my penis. And the Wall of Text. At least I have a USB drive.
