Google and /po Anonymous
A lot of people here bitch when someone requests templates to be posted. We tell the person to stop being lazy and look for it himself or use Google.

If everyone used Google to find papercraft and not /po, there would be no papercraft on /po.

So essentially, when you are greedy, lazy, or an elitist and don't post papercraft models for those who request them, you are killing /po.

Don't kill /po.

(btw, have some VMU.)

nice theory. sounds good to me dude, thnx for the template.

Plus, we would not have to ask if alot of these things were easily found on google. What with so many languages and all. Unless you are fluent in Japanese, English, Czech, Polish, and German – you are operating at a disadvantage in your search.

I completly agree with you. I am amazed how big of assholes many on PO have been as of late. I have been a long time lurker of PO and within the last month there has been a large increase in dickheaded-ness. Shouldn't PO be about sharing and helping fellow PO'ers? i am sick of people posting "doesn't exsist" "google, moron" ect if it doesn't exsist then where better to ask for it then here? if someone sucks at using google then why be a dick to him/her?

Because you know someone is going to ask for it.

I can't help but wonder if some of the recent increase in being an asshole on here has anything to do with people getting fed up with the stencil flood. You're completely correct in my opinion, and I also agree with the OP. It will probably just become the equivalent of "TITS OR GTFO" on /b/ or any board where there might be someone with a vagina whose name doesn't end in a file type. Even /ck/ has ended up with the flame "in before rice cooker" along with a few longer ones that are copypasta.

I'm fed up with the stencil flood, but I'm still helping folks... I know that one of my friends who pointed out this page to me has just about quit coming thanks to both the stencil flood and the troll(s) yelling at everyone.

Something similar has happened with me and /ck/. I'm tired of people not even posting a food related image when they start a new thread.

I'm trying to help both the people who want the stencils, not by giving them stencils, but by trying to get them to go and request a stencil image board over at Imageboards on the 4chan BBS.

I usually help the /po/ posters whenever I can, but there are a few times where the person asking for help will just be so mean and rude that I don't really bother. I normally don't have what they want, anyway. There are some cases, especially with origami, that you want to ask really nicely for the instructions, because there's a really good chance that they're copyrighted and that whoever does have what you want paid good money for an actual book they're in.

I can see how someone would get sick of what's currently going on in /po/, but I think with all of these problems the board is still growing and getting more responses anyway. Besides, as long as the people who start flaming about using google don't sage the post, they're bumping the thread so someone else can possibly see it and fill the need.

Nice to talk to someone with their head straight on the matter. Here's a random pattern I stuffed away a while back. Instructions (in Japanese) to follow.

/po/ won't let me upload the instructions - the website is http://www.cbr.mlit.go.jp/shitara/03int/03toreja/kitutuki/kitutuki.html for the model.

The instructions show taping a coin to the middle of the central shaft; I tape a pair of coins off-center so the gear passes between them to allow a wider range of motion and a stronger drop action. Making the bird and worm out of regular paper and the rest of the model out of cardstock helps as well.

I have no clue why the instructions aren't working. Maybe you're having the same kind of problem with 4chan that I've been having tonight. I'm almost expecting a MySQL connection error sometime soon.

Ah, and here's the finished product of the pdf file. It's one of those fun moving ones like the flapping bat on ravensblight.com.

Actually, that's just a concept drawing. This is what it looks like... in motion :)

http://www.zuko.to/kobo/ is the author's homepage, with tons more models, some with ordering links, most without.

I forgot for a moment how limiting the max file size is here. The parts pdf is just a few KB too big for me to upload.
http://www.ravensblight.com/BELLAparts.pdf
Should be the url for the bat parts. I'm uploading the instructions here.

Funny that one of us couldn't upload the instructions, and the other couldn't upload what the instructions were for?

Amazing how buried this got overnight.

I've made that bat before out of high-gloss paper. It took a while to train the mechanism not to tie itself in a knot, and it took a few more coins to make it not tip over, but it held together really well, and still works months later.

I am a noob to this stuff so are there any instructions on the bird?
