Hey /po/ im a normal around 4chan but just stumbled on to this board yesterday. Looks like alot of fun how does one get in to this and are there any easy projects you could start me off with ?
>> Anonymous !bgREVLN8FU
Project 1: Make a basic box.
Project 2: Make a basic Chokipeta model.
Project 3: Make a basic Howl's Moving Castle model.
Project 4: Make a basic AT-AT. Not a papercraft model, mind you, an actual, working AT-AT.

Project 5: learn how to use google

Any tips that dont involve anon being an ass ?

Lurk around for a bit and you'll find some models quick enough which might be suited for beginners. Just simpler ones with fewer pieces is what I went for at first.

The first one I made was the Triforce here, and I simply begun by making it from plain Printer paper and prittstick. Try a couple models like this first and if you're going to take it up properly invest in some cardstock and good glue, and maybe a craft knife for trickier pieces.

I went from this Triforce, onto a Gameboy Colour (which although wasn't bad, wasn't good either) onto the N64 cube logo. That can be found easily through Google.

And finally Papercraft isn't something that can be done in 20 minutes. Each model takes time and you've got to be patient while making it. If you rush you'll end up just messing it up, it's more of a relaxing thing to do but take time on your models and don't expect to make perfect models in half an hour.

Well... My first was the cube Puff'n'Stuff, then the Hamhead Mr.T.... Then, because I'm such a masochist, I did the EVA 01, then the Gungrave gun (which I failed at). I just started this about a week ago, and it's taking the place of my finding a job. Sad.

So, I guess I'm saying find something that looks cool, and is super-simple. Go down to WalMart and grab a pack of cardstock and some glue and start messing around. It shouldn't cost more than $10, so you don't have to worry about screwing up.

http://www.cubeecraft.com/

Those sites have some pretty easy stuff. Try not to jump off the deep end and take on huge projects at first, it gets tedious and annoying when you run into a mass of glue tabs. Take your time and don't get discouraged. That's about it.

I really would like to create lucas from mother3 he is my main in brawl would he be a diffucult paper craft ?
>> Anonymous
>>166614
From the website above? Shouldn't be too difficult, it's only a Hako and they're not too challenging since they're all cubes that fit together. The only thing you want to watch out for on those models are some of the tabs are a bit small, you don't want to go ripping them off by accident.

Oh and for those models your almost definitely going to need a craft knife or stanley knife or something of that sorts. The slits in the middle can't really be done with anything else.

Generous soul that I am (aka Im bored as hell) look what I found for you!

And here's the .pdo screenshot. 3 pages isn't bad, not a lot of small pieces, should be a fairly simple project to start on. Have fun!

Make sure its a .jpg and under 8Mb (should be). Search around for stuff you like. Just add "papercraft" after anything you search for on Google and something should pop up. nintendopapercraft.com has a lot more projects if that's what you're in to.

Try the /po/ wiki too: http://papercraft.wikidot.com/papercraft

This site is in Spanish, but it's easy enough to figure out what things are: http://www.modelosdepapel.com.ar/mdp/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=5&Item

I think the first one I made after a 2-4 year long break from papercraft was a DeLorean from Back to the Future. I made it for my dad on Fathers Day. He has it in his office somewhere; I can't take pics ATM. I'm probably going to make one for myself, though.

My VERY VERY VERY first one (from waaaaay back) was a huge-ass castle. I used tape so it looked pretty messed up...
I don't have it anymore, sadly.

I love nintendo so this works out great but how do you figure some of these out with out directions and such ? Sorry im so new .
>> Anonymous
>>166907
#1, that's just one page of Charmander, there's a 2nd page.

#2, there are instructions, though I don't remember if we have those or not. In any case, it's pretty easy to figure out once you build the parts and then think "all right, now what connects to what?"
>> Anonymous
>>166907
Most parts you'll just seem to realise what goes together. If you ever have trouble you could look at a picture for reference, but most of the time you can figure it out, and then it'll become easier to see what joins with what.

Ah ok so i guess doing it by eye comes with expirecnce ... is it ok if i dont do my projects with card stock ? and just normal printer paper ?
>> GoblinGuy
>>166927
Yeah. Back when I did Charmander I was a complete beginner, and I did it on regular paper. Looks fine.
>> Anonymous
The smaller models should be ok on printer paper. It's those larger models that bear a lot of weight on critical joints where you'll need cardstock.

For instance, I wouldn't have done that Lucas model with regular paper.

the little net ones are great to start with, arcade machines, party vans, I love doing the explosive barrels from HL2 but some people don't like cutting all the triangles for circular crafts.
>> Anonymous
>>167937
do you have the layout for the barrel?
