Today we started talking about ripping game files in another thread today.>>41923
The first link sends you to a forum where they are talking mainly about ripping out character files from videogames. It's not exactly easy, from what I started reading in the helpme file on one of the programs.
If you want to try your hand at it, you can get the Metal Sonic file that can be imported into Sketchup if it supports 3DS MAX files (.3ds). It's the "Metal Sonic Bundle Pack" located here: http://mikelim0.cjb.net:1337/knuxt15/index1337.php?do=models
And this is the url for the direct link. metalsonic_tube.3DS is the name of the file to use in the 3D modeler.

Also, Wolf may be able to help you with ripping models from games. I think I remember a thread where someone was asking him about those. Just know what games you're wanting to rip models from, because different games run on different engines, and this tends to affect what needs to be used in the ripping process.
Just know that I'm still behind you on learning all of this. I won't have a computer of my own that can run the programs necessary for papercraft until sometime this spring. In other words, I'll be looking forward to having to catch up to you.
