oy? Are you on polycount.com?
>> Anonymous
Dude, 20 pages? How tall is this papercraft when it's finished?
>> Bongo
don worry is just 33 cm tall, the problem is tha mini gun jeje is too big

That's what I'm worried about. I can't imagine how frustrating it is to build such a detailed model this small. Make it twice as big, or even more.

Or just fix the 3D model to loose some of the detail to make it less frustrating to build.

a papercraft with 400 something polygons, and almost a foot tall is too hard to work with?
you need some experience, son.
>> Anonymous
hm, the biggest problem with this one isn't the polygon count or difficulty, it's the rather bad texture quality

anyone in for a better one? polygon count can stay like this, just some nice and crisp textures.

Thing is, the models were taken from a page where the guy limited himself to less than 500 polys/model and a maximum of 128x128 texturing. He reproduced the high-poly models extremely well, which is perfect for papercraft, but the texture isn't.

tl;dr, you win some you lose some.

does anybody have a link for the Spy papercraft?

Do you people want your goddamned TF2 papercraft or not? Jesus Christ.

And ruin it. Awesome.

No, it's actually one of the most frequently mistakes made by enthustiastic /po/eple making their own models: they approuch it as if it will be the most epic work of all time, and they want to keep every detail, wrinkle etc, but all that does is make the papercraft difficult to build, and because of that, people can't build it well, and the end result looks not good...
It's better to focus on keeping the model nice and easy (relatively speaking of course, challenging is okay, but auto unfolds from Pepakura where perhaps one or two cuts have been altered are technically buildable, but no fun at all...) and make any details that you can't live without and that are too small to make into 3D using paper on the texture. Enthustiasts that want to make papercrafts using Pepakura, should also teach themselves some basic 3D modelling/texturing: it's fun just to know stuff like that nowadays, and it will dramaticly improve your papercrafts, and call me crazy, but I think that is what they want. ;)

too true too true.
I agree whole heartedly

Why are you so awesome

So if someone just extracted the textures from the game and slapped them over the low-res textures, they could solve that problem in 15 minutes?

thanks for the advice, i believe you are totally right the model isn't really fun to build but i can say that is not impossible to build. i hope some day i will be able to do my own dissing and i believe that when im done with this TF2 models i will be munch better designing model, btw, im done with the scout model, this time is easier
that the others,

Which reminds me, I e-mailed Tom Tallian a few weeks back about the models and he gave me the link, too.
I just downloaded them and hope to make optimized versions of them that are both, fun to build and relatively good-looking.
Not that I'm saying "I'm better than you, Bongo.", but I'm trying these out myself just for fun.
