print templates
Exacto knives and cutting mats are useful.
Thicker paper = sturdier models. Cardstock is recommended.
Get a good glue.

Google hako models for some basic stuff to start wtih.

brand of glue doesn't matter.

Cardstock is thick paper. Go to office depot or staples and you'll find it.

then why you people don't put a sticky up in the front page with tips for newfags? then you wouldn't have to go in a "Blah,blah, I hate these amateurs blah, blah"
If you don't like new people in the hobby, just fucking lock it inside a safe, for god's sake.

people should get some shame and try to search for initial information elsewhere first
it's not like it's impossible to find or anything
I don't know why people are so lazy to simple go to any search engine available on-line and search for "papercraft tutorial" or anything similar
of course asking here is much easier and such but still it's much faster to search for a website that already has this information there, ready to be read instead of asking on a community where you have to wait people with good will to answer your questions (and you also end up pissing off other people)

a stick with some useful links would probably help but it won't prevent this kind of threads to exist because people are just too fu.... lazy to read other threads but anyway.
some links that might be useful in a stick for newcomers:

http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/entertainment/papercraft/howto/0002.html ->basic instruction on building

http://www.papercraftmuseum.com/advanced-tutorial/ -> there's a section with the materials needed

http://www.papercraftmuseum.com/beginner-tutorial/ -> not that useful but links to a few starter crafts and has video tutorials showing how to build'em

http://www.papercraftmuseum.com/pcmforum/topic.php?id=20 ->thread with more information for beginners

I don't know how we can make someone pin a thread but anyway, if someone have any other links to share (that might be useful for beginners), share here.
