I'm still waiting for the Disney Experience to release the free model parts for their Zero (http://www.disneyexperience.com/models/zero_model.html) like they did on their Wicked Wench (http://www.disneyexperience.com/models/wwench_model.html) and other models.

but for now you need to pay and its faster for me to make my own instead of requesting the real one. the real one has been requested many times since over a yr and all we found was the oogi boogy dices and sally.

Well yeah, it's not like I'm prohibiting you from making a model you like! ;)
But your post reminded me of the model on the Disney Experience site and I know not everybody knows of the site and the awesome free papercrafts they offer so I figured I'd mention it again! ;)

i reaaaaaaalllyyy need zero. seriously. i came though with the spiky babies, someone needs to come though with this.

>>47747
lol the people that think this makes a difference. If someone's gonna make a papercraft, they do it for themselves, and then they decide to release it if they want to. They do it because they like it. Not because somebody posted the Spiky series... So you're in luck, buy the model you want, wait for the free release, or wait for Chamoo or someone else to make one. ;)

I haven't even started mine 'cause my baka brother wasted all the ink on some cards or something an ended up throwing them away.

By the way, may I ask how did you learned to use Sketchup?

a hell lot of practice and some good basics with other simple 3d programs

well sir/miss chamoo232, i will wait for your papercraft, because you have a long history of quality models, ie. grav. gun, headcrab, and so on. maybe ill brush up my scetchup skillz

is it possible to rip from game cube games? i know it is possible from ps, n64, and ps2, but what bout gamecube?
>> Anonymous
>>47891
3d ripper dx can rip from directx9 software, and Dolphin (GameCube Emulator) is directx9 application). Only trouble is, how to play on emulator to the point where what you want to rip from the game is on the screen..? Also, not all games work on Dolphin.
>> ||OPM||
i own a gamecube but i want a good zoids papercraft cause the marasume liger one sucks balls. So i figure when i order it and it comes in, ill use dolphin to try and play it and steal a model of a good zoid.
>> Urashiman !cfvcNf4hiQ
>>47895
Have fun with that (being ironic is fun)
You can't just put in your GC cd in your CD-Rom drive of your PC and play the game on emu. GC CD/DVD is not readable from normal CD/DVD-Rom drives, because the people from nintendo invented a different reading method for their cds. (reads outside-in not inside-out like normal drives) you need Phantasy Star Online a network adapter for GC and some funky tools to rip the game from the CD. Then you are able to play it on Emu and rip some models from it. If you don't own a network adapter or phantasy star online you are in need to load the game from the net (only if you own the original game... legal stuff you know).

Zoid games are not playable on Dolphin I'm afraid... Actually the only game fully playable at playable speed on any GameCube emulator is Bust-A-Move 3000 last time I checked...

I finished specifying the cut lines in pepakura and I hitted make development with 20cm as the value and thats what pepakura give me. judging by how much space is lost due to the parts's angles I will be able to place everything and make it alot bigger. my goal is to make it as big as possible on 4 sheets but if I think hes still too small on 4 ill use 6. its only white parts and they are mostly just stips of paper so its not like it will use much more ink

Don't you want to draw some shadows on the texture? The model looks great, but the texture looks a little too simple. You know wut I mean? (just some good meaned critic)
>> Anonymous
>>48006

you need to post a tutorial on making your own papercraft stuff, i tried to figure it out but pepakura is a bitch, we can't all just keep waiting on you and sane
>> chamoo232
>>48007
since sketchup aply texture polygon by polygon it would take 2 days just to add some shadow and not have lines betwen the polygons. I think real shadow on paper will do better than textured one that would show lines everywhere
>> chamoo232

once ill be done with this project ill work on my website. I already started a section called my tools. its empty for now but im planning to show my whole process of making a papercraft and all the programs I use
>> Anonymous
>>48008http://www.ericksmodels.com/paper/step0.html
Has a simple tutorial on how to make Homeworld ships. Steps 1-3 are about extracting and converting the 3D models (obviously these steps are different for different games), steps 4+5 are about preparing the model so it makes a good papercraft, and step 6 is about the basics of Pepakura.

But this all stuff you can so easily learn yourself just by DOING them; just don't try to make a detailed Sephiroth on your first try, try to make one of the simple FF models first. That way you slowly learn the skills you need and you can advance your models.

The main issue is namely not how to use the programs (there are already loads of tutorials for that if you just learn2google, but about the "logic skill" you need to have to think in 3D-->2D-->3D. And how the hell are you gonna learn that from a tutorial on which button does what in SketchUp/Metasequoia/Pepakura...? And everybody has his own views on what's the best way to cut up a model in Pepakura, and who's to say which way is best? And how are you gonna "teach" this? By an example model? Then it's still a matter of wether or not the reader has enough skill to use things described on the example on another model: many cannot...

Just try, fail, and try again. You guys learned to walk by using a a tutorial as well? ;) Yes, it takes time, but if you don't have the patience, then /po/ is not the hobby for you... ;)

This tutorial just puts everything I need in front of me and then slaps me in the face by not telling me what kinds of programs I would need for other games. Is there nothing that would view files for ROMs in general? Sorry to de-rail a bit. I really am interested in making models.

Every game developer stores and compresses the game data in their own way. So it would be a little impractical to explain this step for all and every game... 3D Ripper DX is a program that can rip the 3D models for many directx9 games (not all directx9 games, and not all games/emulators are directx9 games).

I would be doing this just large enough that you could have the jack-o-lantern nose have physically set in features over a texture, but still pretty awesome.

I wasn't that smart when I started my project. Taking bets on whether I even finish rigging the hair (bodies rigged and ready to be posed).

Eitherway, thanks chamoo. Seeing that someone is still active making their own content, has brought me back into the fray a little.

I'm wondering if that 3D Ripper DX would allow me to rip the ffxii models properly instead of being left with .raw files that no converter recognises. I'll give it a go in a bit :)
>> .deepershade
>>48278

Yup, just managed to rip Fran from FFXII with relative ease. Just need to flip a few faces and then she's ready to be rigged. Shiva's first though. :)
>> Anonymous
>>48280
If it can be discussed here, what PS2 emulator did you use? The last one I downloaded nearly gave me a virus, so I'm hesitant to download any others.
>> .deepershade
>>48281

I didn't. I used yaz0r's ffx viewer and dumper to rip the content from my FFXII disc, and then once the viewer is viewing fran's file i used that 3D Ripper DX to dump it into a .obj file.
The shiva model was just dumped straight, no 3d ripper needed.

chamoo232 how do I make cerberus double the size?
i.e making the temples bigger?
>> Anonymous
>>48428
Well, since she included the pdo, you could just open that in Pepakura DESIGNER, then on the 2DPatternWindow menu choose Scale UP/Donw Development By Specifying Value. You can then input a size in cm (height of the model from lowest point to highest point on the Y-axis) or a scale (double the scale set by Chamoo). But I for one am having problems resetting the texture (3DMovelWindow View menu -> Texture Configuration) ie. it won't. So you'll have a white Cerberus, unless you print it on black cardstock (but you'll have to fix the tongue, eyes and inside of the mouth. ;)
Also, if you use the unregistered Pepakura DESIGNER, you can't save these changes but you can still print them. Word of warning: doubling the size will end up with a 72 cm high model, on 60 pages, but that's when certain parts don't fit on one page anymore. You can fix this in Pepakura Designer as well, but it's a bit more work.

Other option is to take the pdf's, printscreening and pasting in MS Paint, then saving as a bitmap, and scale these image files to the desired size.
>> chamoo232
>>48428
to make it bigger you would either need bigger sheets or completely redo the way parts are cutted and placed on the sheets. I always do my templates so the biggest parts take either the full size of a page either horyzontalt or verticaly. I think the simpliest way would be to try making acrobat print it 180% and glue the pages over each other kinda like rasterbator does. but 15 pages x 4 = 60 pages of black ink

ONE WINGED ANGEAL!!!!!
>> chamoo232
actualy my sephiroth model probably wont have a wing at all. the whole clothing part cause alot of problem for paper modeling. especialy the cape. it would need glueing 2 faces together for many parts so it would be black on both sides. so for now my model is shirtless like the very last battle in ff7
>> Anonymous
>>48622

That's Crisis Core, dear.

And Zero looks awesome chamoo! Great would as always.
>> chamoo232
>>48676
actualy its not only in crisis core that we see guys with one wing. at the end of ff7 the angel god looking form of sephiroth has one big wing instead of his right arm. in advent children sephiroth has one black wing that suround him just before he fade away. in kingdom heart he has 1 black wing. in dirge of cerberus there is a secret ending where we see a guy that is another clone of sephiroth lift a guy then grow a single giant wing before taking off in the sky. basicly every FF7 spinnoff has a one winged guy
>> Anonymous
>>48681

I was only referring to Angel being spelled as Angeal, our dear new ossan in Crisis Core and another bearer of wings, though he does technically have two but they are only on one side. And the person you are referring to in Dirge is Genesis and the character he lifted up, Weiss, is not a Sephiroth clone - he is the leader of the Tsviets in Deep Ground and insofar as we know was created from a project similar, but distinct from the Jenova Project. (Though, that is only mentioned in the Japanese Multiplayer mode so no foul there, my dear.)
>> chamoo232
>>48714
I hope we wont learn in crisis core that there is someone superior to sephiroth. would ruin everything. sehpiroth is the greatest craziest evil mind ever.
>> Anonymous
>>48729

Well, since it's pre-FF7 I don't think there will be anyone quite of Sephiroth's crazy caliber. But, we obviously won't know until the game is finally released.
