I know this isnt the place, beleive me, but I dont understand where the fuck else to put it.

I'm poor. I'm not going to lie, however winter is coming, and instead of shelling out a shitload of money for a long coat, im going to make one.

I plan on cutting out the front, and the back, identical shaped-form, then stich them together, now what im left with is a ponco like thing, hoever, I now cut up the front, and it is a jacket.

Would this work y/n

and if it wouldnt why not

I once made an entire suit out of duct tape. I used a real suit for a template. Needless to say, it was very warm, and sticky.

I think your plan should work, thats is, if you compensated for the movement, or else it might be a little stiff.

What are you making it out of?

Go to a discount fabric store. I've seen places that sell a yard of cloth for $2 or better yet find the discount bin where they discount flawed fabrics. I got 7 yards of denim for about a dollar a yard that way once because it had a brown spot on the roll.

We dont have a discount fabric store where I am. We just have wal-mart and a sewing store, and I dont kno i they'll have fabric in the sewing store, seeing as its basicaly just a store that sells sewing machines.

Later I'm gonna do a rough-cut of the coat in duct-tape, this is because I've never made anything out of fabric, and if it works with duct-tape then goddamnit, It'll work.

This really isn't the place for this, but you're a /po'/ mother some justification can be made.

I would suggest a couple of things. There are thrift stores everywhere: make sure that the local one doesn't have anything you can afford which will keep you warm and match your budget. If you're lucky, you'll find something suitable that is less expensive than fabric, as you don't have access to a discount fabric place.

Second, I would suggest keeping it as a poncho. It'll be warmer than a long coat, and if the fabric is heavy enough, not look too much more strange than your idea of cutting it up the middle. Finally, pick up some rope style cord, preferably at the sewing shop (a joann's maybe?) and use it as a belt. This will both keep u warmer, and make it look like you're not in a burlap sack.

The Cosplay & EGL board might help you whit this one, they make alot of things there.

Very true. You might also be able to bum a coat off a local church or something. Christians are strange like that.

Battle a vagrant and when you defeat him (which you undoubtedly will because you have been preparing for this) take his coat. If he has no coat you can always use his skin and fatty tissues.

i spent a total of $20 dollars on my new coat......the thing goes down to my ankles and its all wool with a very comfy lining, in otherwords, its awesome. my advice to you, scope around for deals, if not, then do with everyone else does. wear layers and a hoodie.
