Requesting Sticky For /po/ Skelekitty
EVERY FREAKING DAY the same questions come up, and you all know what I'm talking about. Everyone was a newbie once, but we shouldn't have to waste precious thread-time and tread-space repeating ourselves.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun, here, but I think we seriously need to get one. So this thread is strictly for sensible dialogue regarding what should and should not be included in a /po/ sticky, and once we're all in agreement, then perhaps we can finally get a sticky that'll work.
>> Skelekitty
So I'm going first:

1. Use decent paper - not that regular 80 g/m² printer paper
- find some that is about 120g/m² in weight

2. A good pair of sharp scissors
eg: Honey Bee non-stick precision Scissors
http://store.scrapbook.com/ek-ekcb06.html

3. An used-up ball point pen or craft stylus to score fold lines with
eg: Pergamano fine stylus
http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/Detail?no=152

4. A little metal ruler - metal doesn't get damaged or dinted like plastic.

5. Decent acid-free paper glue - importantly it needs to be fast setting
eg: Power Pritt Multipurpose Extra Strong Gel
http://www.scrappad.com.au/product.php?productid=16145

6. Tweezes - preferably non-stick

7. A tooth-pick (wooden cuticle stick) for getting into those hard to reach places

8. A scalple which has replaceable blades
http://www.stampstampstamp.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=
CTK28&Category_Code=gt

9. A large self-healing cutting mat

I think there should be a stickie for the /po/ Wiki. That way, people will have the link and would be encouraged to contribute.
>> Skelekitty
>>142362
Agreed.
BUT, there also needs to be one right HERE, that way we don' have to re-direct people.

People are inherently lazy and won't search for something if they know there's someone who'll give them the answer.

That's all fine to have a sticky in the wiki (Dr Seuss much?) but how will noobs find it?
You need a wiki sticky ... LOL!!

Any sticky needs to be globally universal.
If you're going to use measurements, then imperial (in parenthesis) should follow any metric unit.
eg: 118g/m² (80lb) cardstock

1. Tools of trade, such as>>142361
2. Wiki for templates.
3. Wiki for pepakura/SketchUp/etc hints & tips.
>> Skelekitty
Your Tools of Trade (Fill in the Following):
1. Paper or Card-stock weight
2. Glue brand
3. Scalpel or Scissors
4. Score or Emboss
5. Cutting Board type
6. Extra/Miscellaneous implements.
7. Post picture of work station (optional)
>> spoot !cvTXqPXfkk
>>142392
1. I usually use regular printer paper or if i get lucky some cardstock or photo paper
2. good ol' elmer's glue
3. i now use some cheap ass box cutters, i got from the 99 cent store, used to use cheap ass scissors.
4. i just cut the pieces out then fold them with my fingers or my knife
5. i cut on top of the cardboard back of a pack of tracing paper.

3. Judi-Kins scalpel & Honey Bee precision Scissors
4. Emboss (scoring is for thicker card)
5. Self-healing A1 cutting mat
6. 15cm Metal ruler is really helpful

We should have a fucking sticky for "/po/ does not have sticky even though it is asked for more than monthly".
There were a few months when we got "where'e /po/'s sticky?" threads several times a week. Now that so many newdykes are here we're going to go through this crap again.
Also, these thread are the leukemia, et cetera...

Well if that's the case Mr Smart-Guy-Who's-Too-Chicken-Shit-to-Identify-Himself, CLEARLY /po/ needs a sticky! Even if it says:
>"no /po/ sticky - quit asking - go to /po/ wiki"

Maybe the sticky should just be a direction to the Wiki, rather than a "how to ..."
eg:
>How to Papercraft 101
>1. If you are new to /po/ please go here before posting any enquieries:
>2 For any questions relating to "how to papercraft" see above.
*shrugs* I don't know, something is better than having the same bloody questions asked over and over again.

Today in /po/ there are 5 separate threads, all asking the same question that we get all the time.

I think a sticky is a good idea.
>> Anonymous
People don't read stickies. Retards will just overlook it, and trolls will read it, realize: hey this board hates questions about this stuff, and they will actually start making threads asking those questions to annoy us. It's what happened with the last (and only thank god) sticky we had.
If it's a sticky like>>142361, that's a guarantee somebody will say: I disagree with point 1, you should use 160 gsm cardstock. A second thread will spawn, saying, no, I use 200 gsm. If you really want a sticky, don't make one that will backfire pls..............................
It needs definitive answers, otherwise there'll just be arguing about it.
And everything you guys are talking about (what tools, glue, paper and so on) to use, do NOT have definitive answers: everybody will think somebody else..............
I think making a sticky like that would be a very baaaaad idea, it's a perfect excuse for everybody to start arguing about the sticky.............
There are 5 different threads at a time about this stuff BECAUSE trolls KNOW it annoys the us (well, mostly the few people asking for a sticky here) BECAUSE you guys litterally keep telling them how much you hate it. They're f'ing laughing their pants off right now and soon there'll be new threads when they see this thread and realize they have had success....... This is not a forum, this is a 4Chan board: they're not nice people here, they're the bullies of the internet: putting a bullseye on top of the frontpage is a baaaaad idea........
>> Anonymous
>>142466
The problem with that, though is when a genuine newbie asked that question we all hate, they just get told to STFU & GTFO, and then we all look like /b/tard assholes.

If /po/ is the nicest boards on 4chan, and we choose not to have a sticky, then we are all obliged to answer that question without insult over and over, and over again.

If there was a Wiki-sticky, then any "target practice" that appears on /po/ can be ignored with impunity. And then the trolls can really STFU & GTFO!
>> Anonymous
>>142471
>they just get told to STFU & GTFO, and then we all look like /b/tard assholes.

Well then, that's where you step in and contribute to the thread.
>> Anonymous
>>142471
Lol, you guys just WANT it to be 4Chan's nicest board. If it is, then it's because it's not very hard to be 4Chan's nicest board lol...
And you have your facts wrong: we don't all hate that question, just the couple of people that want a sticky do apparantly. The rest can ignore it just fine without a sticky (you need a sticky so you can ignore it without feeling bad?? That's like the stupidest reason evah, and like I said: this is 4Chan, so that's quite an achievement lol)

You are SO NOT obliged to answer that question: just do so when you feel in a particularly good mood, the rest o fthe times, ignore it. Don't sage it, don't tell them to gtfo, just don't do anything. If you ly awake at night out of guilt because of that, then you have bigger problems than not having a sticky on /po/...

>>142517/r/ has one. Y not us
Not enough reason for a sticky:
-"I get annoyed by the same question over and over": just ignore them.
-"So I won't feel bad telling people to STFU and GTFO but I can tell them to STFU and look at the sticky": feeling bad is your problem, not /po/ 's.
-"Some other board has one too": /r/ has a sticky? a / b / c / d / e / f / g / gif / h / hr / k / m / o / p / s / t / u / v / w / wg] [i / ic] [cm / y] [r9k] [an / cgl / ck / co / fa / fit / hc / jp / mu / n / po / sp / tg / toy / trv / tv / x] [rs] don't have a sticky. /po/ doesn't need one either. Read this thread to lrn why not.
>> Anonymous
look the thing is, it is possible to have a sticky, because /r/ has one, and the sticky will stop hundreds of reposts about materials and aksing for models that can be easily found on the wiki.

who cares if no other boards besides /r/ has one? does that mean that we aren't allowed? your logic is flawed.
the point is a sticky is meant as a reference tool for noobs to get them started and stop them from asking stupid shit, so a sticky is EXTREMELY appropriate here.
make a sticky plz!
>> Anonymous
>>142575who cares if no other boards besides /r/ has one? does that mean that we aren't allowed? your logic is flawed.
Like... dood, you seriously did not get that..? I turned YOUR logic around (/r/ has a sticky, why not us?") so you would see how stupid it is to compare one board to another (or several others because I turned it around, hoping that exaggerating it would make it more clear because that way it is even MORE stupid). Apparantly you already got that, but then you couldn't make the connection (or didn't want to because it would not be in line with your "logic" that you did the same thing and I was trying to make you see that... But I did it in a difficult way. That was a mistake of course...

Also, you live in a dream world if you think a sticky will make less people make noob threads. A sticky like the one you guys are suggestions (with answers to questions that annoy you because they are asked often) WILL backfire on the board. Noobs don't care to read and will still make new threads, and you want to be able to say: look at the sticky retard!!, yeah, much better than just answering them or ignoring them... Real noobs won't know they will get flamed to read the sticky for making new threads like that because well... they're new and haven't seen it happen...

Only trolls will read the sticky to see what they can use to make thread about so they see exactly what kind of questions will annoy you...
>> Anonymous
I have a suggestion.
Instead of fucking up /po/ 9000 times worse than any thread about what paper and glue to use could ever do: whenever you're in a good mood, post this URL: http://papercraft.wikidot.com/papercraft-instructions even though it's only one person's opinion and many will disagree but it's better than nothing if you are really that fed up with it, and whenever you're not in a good mood, don't post anything, ignore it.
Thank you.
Now we can get let this die please?
>> PMF

>> gizmogal !MmLOyiCYJs
we used to have one back when the board began.
however, it died because people kept posting requests within it.
>> Anonymous
All that mods (although there are none on /po/) would have to do is find a post asking "hey /po/, i'm new 2 papercraft and wondering what paper and glue i should use, lol" and sticky that post with (User was banned for this post) and give a link to papercraft instructions.
