is there a way to import a Mqo file into 3ds max? does any one know?

Pic cool! but totally unrelated.

I've also got another question, after I import a MQO file into the pepakura designer, how can I simplify the unfolded model, when I click on unfold it breaks the model into tiny little pieces that is just impossible to put together. what can I do?

You can export both 3DS & OBJ files from metaseq. It's a free download & fairly easy to learn... :) Both will go into 3DMAX & Pepakura...

Once you register the program, of course.

There are three things you need to do in Pepakura:
1. Examine the model, and select the edges that need to be cut (knife icon) and that need to be folded (knife icon with "no" sign, red circle with a red stripe). You need to do this manually, because Pepakura will try to keep the parts together as much as possible. And that will be unbuildable, like you said (unles you're making a cube, Pepakura is pretty good with those).
2. Check all the glueing flaps and see wether or not it's better to re-size them, or move them to the other side.
3. Check to see if there's any fold lines you don't really need and remove them (many 3D modellers can only work with triangles (Metasequoia can handle quads as well) but on papercrafts, there may be parts that have an octagonal shape (maybe you're making a column?). So there would be lines left over because the octagonal shape would be divided into three quads, and you should delete two lines to make it into one octagonal shape.
4. Once you're finished editing the foldout, relead the low-res textures you used in Metasequoia with the higher res textures for the papercraft model. (well that's really a tip I want to give you people; it's best to use low-res textures in Metasequoia and Pepakura, so the programs run smoother; and then at the end, just before exporting the template, you can apply the good textures).

My pro tip on Pepakura is: don't let the program do the unfolding and placing of the glueing flaps automatically, take control as much as you can yourself. You're smarter than Pepakura (I hope ;). Just play with the program a little. Learn by doing and making mistakes, and start by making a cube, not by making a detailed neko-girl. ;)
