The picture looks more like a daughter. In the event you are not a daughter, the fact that those glasses look really cute on you doesn't take away from your gender, it adds personality. Actually, that would be true regardless of gender.

If you're feeling lazy, go buy 'The Joy of Origami' by Margaret Van Sicklen' (I got my copy from Borders for sixteen dollars) and give that as a gift.

If you're feeling slightly less lazy, make a boquet (I spell that right?) of inflatable tulips or lotus blossoms for your mother. Each design can be learned in a couple tries (although the lotus flowers are /really/ small if you start with an eight and a half inch square).

The butterfly in the book is also pretty easy, too.

Haven't tried anything else in the book, so can't help you there.
