Howl's Castle Joey
Proud to be the first (maybe) to have finished the hard Howl's Moving Castle. It took 100+ hours but I had about a month of downtime at work where papercraft was one of the few things I could do.

That is really cool. Out of curiosity, how much does it weigh, and can we see some pictures of it in proportion to other things, for a sense of scale?

I have that same type of scanner right above my computer. That model looks about 2 1/2 feet tall, give or take.
>> Anonymous
Haven't been around in a while, so I must have missed the download for the model sheets. Someone mind posting?
>> Joey
It is indeed about 2 feet tall, and weighs... well paper :P not sure, but not much. I'll put it next to a couple of other things in the mourning for reference.
It's a 123MB that is usually hosed on Megaupload or other places like that. I'll try to up it there but no promises

I'm curious as to what paper you used, size and type. It looks really good!

It is regular paper, HP Everyday Copy & Print 8.5 x 11", 20lb, 92 brightness and I used an Epson R320 photoprinter in Text mode. I took a pic next to a bic for size comparison, definately one of the larger papercraft projects out there

Forgive me for asking again as I know you've mentioned it before; When printing the pdf, did you just set paper scaling to 'none' and go from there? Or...?

Also, for those that don't have it yet, I'll upload tomorrow for you. It's about a 1.5 hour upload and I'm off to bed for now...

You should probably post your Miyzaki papercrafts on some lj communities. I know they'd appreciate this.

Also, how many Miyazaki-movie related templates are there?
>> Anonymous
To the question of how many Miyazaki related patterns there are. I know of only four, and have seen only three.

Two are the Howl's castles in this thread.
One is the Gunship From Nausicaa - it was released as an extra with a magazine some 20 years ago.
The last one I can not confirm is a pattern for an Ohmu also from Nausicaa. It was rumored to be an extra in a magazine.

You are my new favorite person.

Whenever I try and download from megaupload I always get:
All download slots (400) assigned to your country (Taiwan) are in use.
Please try again later.

400 slots seems a little small for a country with a population of 22 million ... so I'm not holding my breath waiting for a space. Can somebody please create a torrent?

I know of the 2 Howl's Castles, The Flapter, Kiki and Jiji, No Face, Totoro, and Cat Bus. I have a template for a white chinese dragon that looks alot like Haku that I'm going to make a few texture mods to so i will call it Haku
