does anyone know of any sites that have more scale apropriate scenery to be used with world works?
>> grumpy old man
papermodels has the mines of moria in minatures scale in its download section this link should get you there...
http://www.papermodels.at/content.php?l=0&c=5&s=1

his earlier work in scale middle-earth can be found at...
http://www.papermodels.at/index_old.html

and minature wargaming has lots of links under its "Paper figs terrain" heading. Several of the links are dead with age, some are not that great or may not be exactly what your looking for, but it is still pretty good overall... link is
http://www.miniaturewargaming.com/index.php/mwg/categories/

http://sarna.net/files/index.php/media/cardstock/
has masses of battletech mini buildings

Those would be my recommendations to get you started off. You probably wont find everything you want or need, but it'll fill in some of the gaps. and even some of the bad done ones are good as templates that you can edit and re-texture yourself.

happy gaming

This thread is going to get scrolled off sooner or later. I recommend that if you or anyone elsle wants the links here, that you copy paste them into a document for safe keeping. some won't show up in "mayhem" or "worldwork" searches, and rapidsearch seems to be acting tempermental lately or at least just mental.

So are there any major things that we're looking for in worldworks or gaming related stuff? I'm keeping my eyes open and if i find a link i'll post if. If i have a file someone wants i'll see if theres a way for me to load it if it isn't huge. free uploads have size limits and somethings would get me killed to load page by page.

The large dropship i included in the mars upload was the one in the warhammer thread. I recommend papering over cardboard templates for better structural support. If you leave some roof panels removable you can probably do the interior of the ship with interior wall panels from first light or orbital to make a truly bitchin' ship, red sector had cryo tanks and parts that could work for a drive/power plant.

So I guess none of you read any of the countless pleas for support in our products huh? The ones that tell you we are but a handful of guys just trying to put food on the table for our families. That we are not a faceless corporation with "piracy in the budget". That the business is effectively almost dead because of file sharing.

WHERE IS THE LINE??? You treat a little business like WorldWorksGames with responsible pricing the same as Microsoft? How does that make sense? At what point does "everything should be free" translate into "oh shit, I guess no ones producing anymore. Jeez I wonder why?".

This whole sharing thread makes me and the other guys sick to our stomachs. You guys really don't "get" that your actions actually effect real people. Be proud boys...be proud.

Nope, we "get" it all right, Denny. Thing is, we don't care.

We as a whole could not give one shit about your family, and personally, I pray to the baby Jesus that your family starves to death right in front of you on account of you being such a failure that you can't make any money in this sad little venture of yours.

I mean, selling paper buildings? Get a real job, you lazy cunt. Grow the fuck up. I'm sure there's a local community college where you can go to learn some marketable skills. You shouldn't be hinging your financial future around designing stupid little paper toys. Which, by the way, is something that WE do as a non-profit hobby in between WORKING and GOING TO SCHOOL. Alien concepts for you, I know.

Speaking of: You know that scary "why isn't anything being produced" day that you spoke of? Never gonna happen. Would you like to know why, Denny? It's because the best stuff has, is, and always will be designed for free distribution to the crafting community, BY members of the crafting community. Look around you. Some of the most talented designers in the papercraft world are regular posters here. And when they come out with a new model, they GLADLY give it out for free. This behavior is precipitated by strong feelings of community and mutual respect. Again, alien concepts, I'm sure.

Hell, the very fact that you can even entertain this idea speaks volumes about your narcissism and short-sightedness.

PS: Your picture on the worldworks site makes you look like a baldy-headed faggot douche. You should thank the photographer for being so perceptive in capturing "the real you".

to compound on what>>145455said, many of us pirate only the things we wouldn't spend money on if we had money to spend. personally, I have, and will again, make my own version of anything I CAN make myself before I spend my hard earned cash. this includes your paper models. nice as they may be, they are simple and easily reproduced even without piracy. the piracy just makes it faster and slightly less effort. Also, if you're planning on making this your family's lifeblood, you may wish to propose pre-printed items to a larger distributor, wherein you could make money on something people would actually buy. I'll buy a preprinted model, because it means I don't have to spend $25 in ink to get the model out and then put all the work in on top of that.

Consider this: how many of the people who do download would buy the item anyway?
I do download your stuff from the internet but would never dream of actually printing any of it out to build because a. the quality of the scanned downloads often sucks, b. with the price of ink being so high it can be cheaper to buy the whole thing ready printed and c. most home printers cannot match commercially produced items. The pirate versions let me look at what is actually in the kit so that I can decide whether or not it is worth my hard earned £s.
As one of the /po/eple pointed out there is more than enough free stuff out there, custom designed to look good when printed at home, to keep most of us happy for a very long time.
Perhaps you could consider building in certain qualities in order to make your stuff not worth scanning eg extra large sheets, metalic finishes etc. Just a thought.

>> Sharing WWG Product Denny Unger
>>145275
Not a troll actually but who I say I am. Ping me on the WorldWorksGames forum if you don't believe me.

I'm disappointed with both the juvenile, sociopathic reaction here and the general sharing of our work. Don't give a shit about my families "well being" well, there's little I can do to reason with an anonymous coward. Can't separate a small business from a soulless corporate giant? You need new glasses.

Obviously you want what we do or you wouldn't all be feverishly sharing it. Like to try before you buy? Great but we all know that's a bullshit line that hardly ever pans out. I don't really care if some 10 year old without a Paypal account or credit card has a "free look" but it's the assholes that pro-actively share without discrimination, that can damn well afford what we do, who get under my skin.

If the hobby brings you joy then support us and pay for it. If you can't bring yourself to do that then you'll see us go down hard. Don't care? Give yourself a big Prozac pat on the back for not caring. I actually have a brain and some empathy which is why I'd never screw you or yours like that. Can't grasp the sincerity in my words? I guess there's nothing more to say then is there (well excluding the lovely little immature jabs that are sure to follow).

Just thought I'd let you know that some of us actually pay attention to the bullshit that happens out there. More importantly I want you to know that your sharing actually has a very real and negative impact on small business with genuine motivations, and responsible pricing.

Commence flaming. I'm done.
>> radnomness

If it makes you feel any better, I did use these for the "try before you buy" and bought a good few of the sets I downloaded. Then I read the little "hi, pirates" disclaimer and was reminded of what I was doing. I'm going to buy anything more of what I have on my computer if I print it out and use it.

Also, have you considered an alternate distribution model like the Ransom Model (see Greg Stolze's Reign supplements)?

>>145275
Again, I'm not a troll. You can e-mail me or private message at the forum and I will confirm that I've been here (actually someone already did that last night). One of my users pointed me to this site last week.

Oh and "Ransom" based payment schemes don't pay the bills. I did consider it at one time (out of desperation) but past attempts by others have been less than promising. We have always priced our products at VERY low levels to counter these kinds of arguments from the sharing community. Doesn't always work (obviously) but for the most part we actually do get support and people generally appreciate the effort to keep things affordable.

What are you 12 years old? WorldWorks has made a healthy living at this for the past 6 years. Translation for you 12 year olds: We have a mortgage, car payment, child and generally have big people responsibilities, obligations and payments. I wouldn't be so pissed at this crowd if it wasn't for the fact that file sharing has cut into what "was" a stable enterprise.

You can try to justify the sharing to yourself all you like (like your some noble pirate sticking it to Microsoft) but the fact is YOU are hurting real people. Hiding behind the screen gives you some feeling of power to be an absolute remorseless, sociopathic cunt. I would drive my fist hard into your scrawny little paper sharing, smart ass face if I found you.

Arguing with thieves who don't share any kind of normal human empathy or moral compass is like arguing with a dead yak.

You guys are having a negative influence on not just my families livelihood but 4 other content creators families at WorldWorks. If my rants seem extreme, you might want to consider where that raw emotion is coming from. At the beginning I tried to state my case with some level of calm but I was quickly shown the true colors and the ugly nature of the people here.

There's nothing any of you can say here that would justify what it is you're doing (no matter how convoluted the reasoning). Sorry if I don't have a "brotherly love" kind of respect for you or your actions.

So at this point I take it up with "zip.4chan" and put a stop to this little party (even if only temporarily).

If I have a parting thought for you it would be this...use your head and try to separate big business with unfair prices with small business with a genuine desire to produce something affordable and quality.

we're not 'flaming' you
personally i have not downloaded or printed any of your stuff
its just that i seriously doubt
with the 50 dollars people will spent per model (ink and your cost)
that you actually have any pleas of support for your product
except from ink catridge companies maybe
what youre trying to tell us is that youre paying for your entire life off of mediocre models
so if by 'stable sales'
you mean the 2 people who buys your models
dropping to 1
i fail to see how model sharing here is cutting into your 'profits'

po was moar fun when moar people was making models and sharing them not like now

>I would drive my fist hard into your scrawny little paper sharing, smart ass face if I found you.

HAHAHA OH WOW.

I guess no one ever told you that physical threats don't carry all that well over the internet. Instead of being intimidating or scary, they just end up making you look like an impotent, teary-eyed, red-faced little shit. It also doesn't help that most of us have seen your instructional videos, and thus know that you are a weak, lisping little Canadian twat who probably couldn't throw a punch to save his life. The only thing you've ever "driven your fist into" is a bag of Doritos.

Yawn...Later guys. Gotta love the Mob mentality and anonymous coward nature of the internet. I see all of this baiting garbage as a convenient way to avoid facing some tough personal questions and moralities regarding file sharing. Can't rationalize your actions when it comes down to a human level? ATTACK!

Its all a bit David and Goliath I know but I thought it would be good to put a human face on the sharing issue. The surest way to enrage a man is to mess with his family. I know many of you don't see it that way but the truth is that's exactly what this equates to. And you're not special here at 4chan either. This problem has become epidemic for WorldWorks across the net, which is why we are continually struggling to get by. People certainly know who we are, want and indeed "use" what we produce but many unfortunately are unwilling to pay for it. Your attitudes may yet succeed in killing off another genuinely creative smalls business and good on you! Don't you feel proud as punch? Pat yourselves on the backs for being such winners!

I said my thing. Now off to Rapidshare I go. Enjoy the sweet sting of your next victims suffering. If you take pleasure in this kind of thing you really need to look in the mirror. I feel sorry for you.

Out of respect for Denny and his team Missing Persons has been pulled off Rapidshare, would be nice if others followed suit, though I doubt they will sadly.

Hey, /po/... I'm getting set to make a bigass set, either from arenaworks or one of the sci-fi ones, still undecided. But I can't find Foamcore anywhere. Does /po/ know any major store chains that carry it?

walmart. staples, any office supply store really.
if you are in the pacific north west I know Fred Meyers has them (that is where I buy mine)
>> grumpy old man
even if you make your larger pieces collapsable you may run into a storage issue if you make a large display piece or game unit. My advice, is do the type that will be usable by your most commonly played gaming genre fantasy, present dark future or scifi. If your going to dedicate time, material, and space to a project, make it the one that you will get the most use out of.

The real tragedy of the thing is that filesharing is ruining his business, however sticking his head in the sand and making vague threats wont solve a thing!

Denny - You must accept that filesharing will continue, and change your business strategy accordingly. one failed attempt doesnt mean it wont work. think of all the things which drive people to buy your product. Firstly, people buy your product out of a love of the series. for the love of god dont alienate your core consumer base. Secondly, people buy your product for the increased quality. scan rips can never hold up to the quality of the real deal. even if you raised your prices a smidge and started high volume printing runs on pearlescent cardstock with metallic highlights, people would still buy it. it would be a high quality product and when printer ink and paper costs are factored in, your high volume printing service would run cheaper for the customer overall. Thirdly - the fisrst rule of business is to NEVER NEVER EVER rely completely on a single income stream. diversify man.. branch out into tokens, merchandise and things which just cant be digitally distributed. apart from increasing the overall quality of your offerings, it will take you into a well rounded market where people will WANT to buy your wares because they enjoy the EXPERIENCE.

I know this will not reach you directly but i hope it finds you soon and that you dont just skip over it like the other well reasoned answers here (yes i know the idiots and their hate taint the rest of us). an hen finally you can make money, and we can stop having to read the constant stream of excrement mixed with tears which flow forth from your keyboard.

Signed: /po/
