Photoshop expert, you can be a hero TSONTS !!u7H15vJR6mX
Just found a tiny, tilted picture of the entire Chokipeta Mudkip.

It would need to be rotated, enlarged, and enhanced. Any takers?

Figured it couldn't hurt to post it, even if it's too small to rescue.

On a somewhat related note, you can find multiple Pokemon glider papercrafts at http://www.ana.co.jp/travel/topics/papercraft.html

Pixelated as it is, i doubt it can be retrieved from such a photograph. I was not aware that a mudkip craft was unavailable/desired. Mainly because it represents, to me, purely a bastion of baby-headed babbling and bad memery.

Now Squirtle would beanother story.

Did you click into the picture? It's not as badly pixelated as other finds... before the official Wind Waker Link was found, a version made from a thumbnail just about the same size as this was used. Check paperkraft.net; the old version can still be found there.

As for Squirtle, the first page of his pattern was found, but not the rest; same goes for a ton of Chokipeta models. A bunch of "collectors" have pictures online but aren't scanning and sharing.

See http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=6227950&uid=3068786 for examples.

that picture collection looks closely like the one from paperkraft.nets flickr page - or i might be wrong
>> Ilucifera
Vectorize it online here;
http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/
May help if u cut of the magazine first takes a lot of trial and error but program is very useful lots of options ; dont have to download it ; FREE
>> Ilucifera
Oh as for the tilting maybe it can be glued to a 3D surface and tilted?
>> TSONTS !!u7H15vJR6mX
Bleh.
Whether starting with the original, or edits that I was trying to make, the vector page turns it into Mudkip soup.

Very nice find. How did you come across it? Just searching through thousands of "mudkip papercraft" results?

Unfortunately I think it's a bit too small for a complete restoration. It would lose a lot of detail if it can be done. That being said, I would still love to see any kind of the Chokipeta version. Crappy or not. Guess I'll print out OP picture and work on that. ;)
>> TSONTS !!u7H15vJR6mX
Actually, searching through thousands of Japanese search results for combinations of Pokemon and papercraft terms. Wasn't even searching for Mudkip; was using Pikachu at the time.

The person had pictures of the Chokipeta Pikachu, and at the end, this picture of their magazine.

You got me inspired to start searching, and I actually found two models I had never seen before and will save them for another thread whenever the common topic comes up.

TIME TO KEEP LOOKING!

Aw, look what else I found. The guy who made it no longer has the data because of a harddrive crash or something. It's the Pokemon plane!

Hm, i'll try, yet those adobe geniuses removed the 3d transform render from photoshop cs, so it may take me a while to even see if it can be helped, since i don't have the ps cd.

I enlarged them, but I don't think it helps much. It looks like the pattern could be re-drawn. I expanded the pictures the best I could onto an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper (assuming that's the size of the original). Second picture follows.

Here's the second. Yes I know, they are both EXTREMELY blurry.

I'll start working on them tomorrow.

Right, assume I'm blind then?

In case you didnt read right my post points out if someone can work up clear and fitting replications from the insanely blurry images

OP, did you use bicubic algorithm // photoshop to blow these up?
try something with the lanczos resizing algorithm, its much better (i.e. Gimp)

I'd do it but I'm currently being held in a 3rd world country against my will, and lack my software D:

You're not missing anything, USA is still the shithole it became seven years ago.

Holy crap, I'm interested on how this papercraft will turn out =O

I think from those blurry enlarged pictures, I think the template can simple be traced on another layer... but the blurriness and the curves makes this a hard task

Here I come, right after 3 hours of a Pen Tool lecture!

I'm dead tired right now though and it's 11PM here, I'll work on it tomorrow. As long as my vision is fine I think I'll manage. Hopefully.

I decided to be a fool and I printed out the blurry version we have so far. I have a few points I'd like to make.

One thing is that everything on the first page fit together fine, I have the head completely built, and even though it looks a bit shoddy (because sometimes I couldn't tell what goes where), I can say for certain that if you printed off the first page, even in its blurry form, you could definitely put it together.

Now for the bad news, or at least bad in my case. The fin and feet are all easily put together, though you will have to guess where to put the glue tabs to attach the feet to themselves. The body, though. I don't know what went wrong, maybe you can try your own build, but it seems like a piece or two is missing. Like it's only half the body. I did have to cut off one or two parts of the body before I started assembling (just because I didn't know if they were part of it or not), but it wouldn't have made the big difference I'm seeing right now.

In the picture you can see the body in the back. It's not a good enough look, but I don't want to have to pay a quarter to send it to myself (cell phone camera) :(

(BEFORE HITTING SUBMIT-EDIT): After looking at the completed picture on the chokipeta website (www.chokipeta.jp) it's clear that what I cut off was in fact part of the body. I'm still unsure as to whether it would have made a difference or not, for it was a relatively small part. Try it yourselves, see what you can get.

Waiting for a re-draw on this thing.

Oh, also I had to draw on the nose and mouth line manually, so that's why it looks a bit iffy there.

Quick lines.
Someone make this and tell me what to change, I have better tings to do (redline would be great).

so here's what I have to say by just looking at it. I've circled what's wrong (though I'm probably being nitpicky)

The four parts on the blue face part that I've circled, those aren't tabs, they're curved just like in the blurry copy. That's how some chokipeta models work. I suppose tabs could still work there, which is why I'm probably being nitpicky at that point.

At the second point, with the two yellow pieces, there are only two glue tabs there, not three, but again, it's probably just me being nitpicky.

Still, very very nice work on this. Keep it up!

Woops, forgot picture.

Hm, and after looking at it again, there doesn't seem to be any glue tabs on the far side of the bottom right side of the face piece.

How about now?

Good enough. I still wonder about that piece below the face (the underside of the face) because I just guessed on how to attach it. This should be good enough for the re-draw, though.
