Alright /po/, I'd really like to be a part of this odd little hobby, and I need your help getting started. If you could suggest an easy model I could work on I would be very grateful.

Picture unrelated.

go here.
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/entertainment/papercraft/howto/index.html
it's got some tutorials and some basic shapes to make along with the videos.
once you get that done, I'd recommend something like snake-in-the-box. you can find it easily on google.
for some models you'll need pepakura viewer. this will open .pdo files.

also, you'll need scissors, glue, tweezers, a hobby knife, cutting mat, and some sort of scoring tool like an empty mechanical pencil(this will make your folds 9001 times cleaner)
also, 110 lb cardstock is your friend. 150 sheets at wal mart for 5.00
hope that helps.

Can most home printers handle that kind of paper?

Si senor(ita?)

Most printers are made to print on note cards and cardstock. Also envelopes. As long as it's not one of those old dot matrix printers, I think you're in the green. ;]
