What's your printer?
Hi /po/, I occasionally come by this board and I'm interested in papercraft, however I don't currently have a printer.

So, I'm wondering what recommendations you might have for a decent printer. I'd probably want to cap it around $100, and it'd be nice if it was a multifunction with a scanner too. Any help for an interested papercrafter?

Try an online site that has ratings for printers. Any printer works for papercraft, and I still use my ages-old HP Deskjet 952C, even though it has a curved paper intake; light cardstock still passes through.

You can get a cheapo from HP or Dell nowadays that has a straight paper path, and a scanner built in for under 100.

I use a canon mp530, and it works wonders for larger projects. I was able to use around 1/3 of my total ink printing off the Inner Brain Eva. This is mostly due to the printer using a multi-tank ink system, where there are multiple color inks as opposed to a single tri-color cartridge and a black. This yields way more ink and is generally more affordable in the long run.
If you want some hp equivalents, the hp d7260, c6280 and c8180 all use 5 color tanks and have a really nicely sized black tank. each color tank holds ~5 ml of color ink and the black ink tank holds 16 ml. To top it all off the 6 pack of ink costs 35.99. That's practically a steal, especially compared to the hp number 74(black) and 75(tri-color) that's 31.99

tl;dr: go with a multi-color ink system to save money and get higher yields.
