OP Here Ted
Anyone finished my WCC model yet?

A WIP pic is fine, too.

I bought cardstock just a couple of days ago, but I'm too busy at the university to build this now.

As soon as I'll find some free time, I'll give it a go. Seems to be the best WCC template to date.

BTW, do you plan to release other versions, or should we consider the beta2 as the "final" version?

I will make more versions if people ask. For example: Demand may arise for a version without fold lines. This I could do. Also, if people are not satisfied with the textures, I could make new ones.

This is why I called the WCC and the WSC models I've released "beta" versions. They look fine and are buildable, but they could conceivably be improved.

Thought: Satin photo paper would be interesting for this model. It would give it that semi-reflective metallic sheen...

Holy crap. THAT thread died? Lame.

I said before, I eventually plan on using your template to make a to-scale WCC.

You should host those files somewhere, for easy noob redirection...

Probably a good idea. I'll look into it.

man i wish this whole WCC thing would go away soon.

Seconded. I seem to have misplaced some of the parts.

What dimensions are you using? According to someone on MF: http://ask.metafilter.com/75890/In-the-event-that-the-weighted-companion-cube-does-speak-the-Enrichm
ent-Center-urges-you-to-disregard-its-advice

I really just wanna be part of the best VALVe Week ever, but I'll post my alternate method of determining it's height.

I stacked some of the cubes 4 high and dropped a turret from the foot of the 4th cube. It took 0.71s to fall (I used a watch!). Since Valve prides itself on realistic physics:

height = h = Number of cubes * height of one cube

h = ½gt2 = 4.9 * (.71 s)2 = 2.47m = height of 4 cubes

2.47 / 4 = .62 m tall/wide/deep per cube

Which seems about right.

Disucuss.

Umm, you forgot to add logic. The cubes are obviously larger than half a meter. When I made my model I just made it 5 ft. cubed. Then again I made this model before I played the game.

I just got done cutting out all the parts. I've put the cube together so far, and put on the corners as well as one of the hearts and a middle bar piece.
now I just gotta finish scoring the 8 or so middle bars, glue and assemble, and I'll post pix.
tl;dr: Almost done.

Still working on it (I did the other 2 papercrafts on the picture after starting with the cube) but I'll get back to it and finish it eventually.

Thanks for the template! Now for some cake...

Sounds good!

<- More evidence to prove my point. Most desks are 3ft tall or so.

I'm GLaD to see it has friends. Is the slightly bluish outer ring on the surface of the cube matching up with the curvature of the corner and side pieces?

I messed up the order of things in that poast, didn't I?

It was here on /po/ a while ago (don't know if the thread still exists) and came with 4 other models in the same style (from a series I'm guessing)
I reuploaded it to RS for you:

Picture very related.
