Wow, seconding the request for Maria, I adore Metropolis. Actually, I just love robots. I still want it, though.

I see MARIA
TALOS
AND TIME MACHINE IN THERE!

Yay! Ruined another designer with piracy. Down with masamunes!
>> 20xx
Ooh, Maria is detailed.

And frankly, fuck anyone who gets butthurt over their paper models being shared. If you charge for it, then get pissed, but if you're offering it for free you should be flattered people are sharing it and spreading it about to all who want it. And I say this as someone who does paper modeling. What kind of an elitist failfag shuts down his free papercraft website because people are downloading his papercraft?

This is a designer of unusual sensitivity. The language barrier may have played a role, but he left Cardmodels.net in a huff when people had the nerve to ask for copies of models he had stopped distributing. Or maybe he just felt like it, hard to tell.

What kind of fucked up head must this person have had in order to leave sites and remove files he produced and distributed for free when he discovered people wanted them? That's like a musician quitting his label when he finds out the album he recorded is going to (GASP) be distributed.

Yeah, it's mental illness and amoral practice to give up and withdraw from a community that silently accepts everything you put effort into, that you gave out for free to enjoy... then they login to ebay and sell it.
Who's the fucktard here?
The benefactor who gave of himself to the community who is insulted and has left and stopped releasing?
The silent community that will no longer receive models from this source, who permit and encourage piracy?
The one who has taken publicly free files and sells them for personal profit?
Or the lowest ignorant retard who pays for what was available freely, and still remains via unauthorized distribution?

His site specifically mentions someone on a forum uploading his C-3PO model to rapidshare as an example of the type of behavior causing him to stop. Not people selling his models for profit, not people claiming his work as their own, but people making the models available elsewhere than his website. People SHARING his FREE models for FREE. That should flatter, not insult, unless you have a stick up your ass or a screw loose, in which case fuck what you think, regardless of the consequences. I'd rather not have the models than have to tip toe around overly sensitive bullshit.

can you please upload noisy cricket?

I dont know what kind of forum that was, but rapidshare faggotry is sometimes kind of out of hand. People post their own RS link to gain rapidpoints or whatever so they wont have to buy premium-account. Thus skipping the original DL link and often forget to credit. I'm sure that can get annoying to some modeler.

The thing is, the source can by found for most models fairly easily, just by asking here or somewhere similar. And most of the time here, we do at least mention the name of the creator. Most of the time, when a model is good, the artist is well known, and thus easy to find.
It shouldn't be such a big damn deal that they don't get their e-cred by having more traffic to their site, when really, it doesn't matter. Yeah, if the person is interested, they'll eventually come see their site. They'll come see your other models. But if models are shared on a massive scale like this, it causes the difference in quality to shine through.
If models get shared like this, it shows who's really a good designer and who's a crappy one, because even in a community like this, where half the people just save and forget, tons of people make these and then come back and go "Yeah, this didn't fit right and this sucks" etc etc.

TLDR fuck elitist shit.
