I guess it was deleted? Well this one is here so THI doesn't have to make his/her(I forgot to ask) own thread!
>> Anonymous
I'm 100% sure the thread should be around the 3rd or 4th page. What the fuck?
Did THI delete it himself? A mod wouldn't have any reason to.

I wouldn't have been able to post that image if the other thread was still here.(It was the OP is the other thread)

It was deleted because it was old.

nigger.

I meant requesting the GS ball...
I'm perfectly fine with the word nigger.

Oh, GS ball was done in, like, 20 minutes. I just adjusted that Safari ball a little.

Just about done then? Can't wait, but really I can!

You wouldn't have too if the damn thing would load.

     File :-(, x)
Since my schools net is "uncooperative" I just hosted the damn file myself. Heck, I may just make a papercraft section on my site (and finally do something with it). If someone wanted to upload it to RapidShare so it's on /rs/ since I can't seem to, I wouldn't mind.

http://thehiddenice.com/All_Pokeball_Models_by_THI.zip

Remember, they are the best size at about 10cm or 4 inches in diameter.

If there are any errors in the modeling or the in designs, let me know and I might adjust them in the future.

The file is just the models and textures. No pdo's, but some are already floating around. I changed the Moon ball texture and it's UV's so I think that think that pdo will have to be redone.

I hate to be one of those people that just asks for something after someone creates something nice for everyone.

But I'm curious as to why there's no Quick Ball in the screenshot. I mean, there's every other ball there is basically, but not the Quick Ball. Is there any chance you could make a Quick Ball?

And these are awesome by the way. It's great to see these kinds of projects crop up.
>> Anonymous
>>93793
I'll fix that and repost.
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
Alright! Finished (again)

There is only, like 1 good image of the quick ball on the internets. I kind of phoned it in.

My schools network sucks so I just uploaded the zip file to my site. I may add a papercraft section to it so I have something on that site.

The zip is just the models and textures. If someone wants to upload it to Rapidshare so it's on /rs/ since I can't, go for it.

The balls seems to be best at 10 cm or 4 in. If there is a problem with the models or the designs, I'll try to fix them sometime in the future. I re-did the Moon ball's UV and texture so that .pdo out there will have to be done.

What do i use to read that?
>> Anonymous
>>93807
.objs can be read with most 3D modeling programs, but to make it in papercraft form, you'll want Pepakura Designer.
>> THI
>>93807
You import the .obj into pepakura designer and then the .jpg texture for it.
>> Ilucifera
0285-3242-3589 reg.key for designer
(so no excuse start building! ;) )
>> Anonymous
>>93812so no excuse
How about skillz? Many don't have them for making papercrafts. Would be a great excuse to not make papercrafts, rather than making crappy ones.
>> Cotton Eyed Joe
>>93813
applying a texture to a model takes around 3 button clicks.
>> Anonymous
>>93814
Exactly what I was talking about. ;) Making a good papercraft involves a bit more than that.
>> THI
>>93813
Thats the part that I have trouble with. That's why I just model them, and I'm not very good at that either.

I always enjoy /po/eple making papercrafts themselves, so don't get mad at me or anything, this is just to give my opnion:
The models look very nice in 3D, but this is how I would do it: not in one part, but in sections.
Because now, you have all these 90 degree valley folds at the middle ring and the button at the front to try and glue the different sections together when building the papercraft, and from my experience, these look likevery difficult parts to do that on.
When you make sections, you basically just make several low cylinders (the easiest type of papercraft I know of: roll a strip of paper and glue the two circles on top, either with "zipper" style glueing flaps so you can't miss the alignment or not) and two half domes (they can still be a bit fidly, but you have to make those anyway).
And then you just stack them.
>> Anonymous
how do you ads texture to model?
>> Cotton Eyed Joe
>>93827
open the .obj in designer, 3DModelWindow, texture configuration, specify texture image and then pic the .bmp or jpg that the texture you want to be is.
>> Anonymous
>>93827
In a 3D modelling app? Different for each app, please refer to the instruction manual that came with it when you bought it (lol), or Google some forums, tutorials etc...
In Pepakura Designer: you only can if the original 3D model has been UV mapped.
The Pokeballs in the zip in this thread are.
So you can open the model in Pepakura Designer, then go to the 3D model menu, Texture Configuration, Specify Texture Image, then you can browse for a jpeg (or other image format; textures are basically just images).
You find these answers by reading the manual, help file, website etc or by opening up some simple model, then trying out all the buttons once to see what they do.
>> Anonymous
>>93828
Now you see how smart Anon is? ;)
>> THI
>>93821
I can try adjusting them like tomorrow if people prefer. It shouldn't be any trouble.

Thanks for the input. I love creative criticism. I really need it since I'm still new at modeling for papercraft. I'm an animation student and model for animation is an empty shell. I should start thinking in parts.

So everyone hold off for another day while I try to make these more user friendly.
