Allow me to be proud and show off. My first ever papercraft. I love him.
>> Anonymous
yay for wrinkly orange thing!

If that was supposed to be an insult, ignore him.

I think it's adorable :3 Good work. Though the visible tabs is like wtf. Are they being seen from the inside or is it the way the papercraft was?
>> Anonymous
I think its just the harsh overhead light I had on that made the tabs visable. You cant see em in normal room lighting. But the tabs were orange instead of white so they kinda do show through a lil bit. But theyre all glued on the inside. Just the shadow. :D

You do realize the arms are on backwards, right?
>> Anonymous
it doesnt look any better than the original pattern that /po first came out with

http://paperkraft.blogspot.com/2007/10/charmander-papercraft.html

and oh, you put the arms the wrong way
>> Anonymous
LoL - hands are backwards you fool
>> Anonymous
The tabs are there because you used too much glue, or at least, too much glue for the paper you worked with.
>> Anonymous
>>116630
I think you used regular printer paper, and that together with the bright light like you say is making the tabs show. And the hands are backwards. ;) Neither really matters though, as long as you like it. Good job!
>> Anonymous
You have my laptop. Why does everyone have that laptop? It's one of those "you only notice after you have it" kind of things.
>> Jath
At least OP isn't like the noobs who ask for really simple papercrafts like boxes and still complain about not knowing how to put them together...

>Neither really matters though, as long as you like it.

agreed.

also, currently making one because i always wanted to but never did.

DID YOU NOTICE IT'S A FUKING POKEMAN!?!?!?!?

LOL, j/k, good work.

nice work for a first papercraft!

I didn't go that crazy at first. I just did a katamari prince.
you've got some skills man :3
keep up the awesome work, and show us what you got once you get a collection going!
>> Xydirus
looks good for a first try, mine was four swords link...
and as you will discover when you make your first polygonal one:
protip: start with polygonal ones. the ones with "soft edges" are generally harder...
I say so because my first one was link and my second one was sephiroth...
aaand another one:
protip: try to take the fotos with the light behind the camera, and do not use flash...
indeed, you didn't use flash (in my opinion, that way the photos look much better) buuuut i can see a lateral light.
if the light is behind the model, it'look dark, and with slim paper the tabs will be visible.

>>116754
ninjatoes ones are great for beginners, they're relatively simple and look great
>> Anonymous
My first was a Master Chief helmet for the launch of Halo 3. I finished a week too late, then I told my brother's friend he could borrow it... and his frient thought I said he could keep it, so he painted over my awesome paint job turning it tain, then his dog distroyed it. I still cry when I think about it. I had a billion zillion pounds of fun driving around with it on :)
>> Jath
Mine was a mudkip I made for my now-ex. I never got to give it to her because she broke up with me. A good thing too!
>> Anonymous
The arms arent on backwards. Thats how he looks when he "attacks" and the only way that the arms fit on. :P

It's not the only way the arms go on and this is exactly how mine looks.
You have four people telling you the arms are on backwards, face it guy, they're backwards.

hell
read the post above yours
>> Medri
So long as OP is happy with the Charmander, does it really matter about the arm position? It still looks good. Besides.. if you get things perfect on your first attempt, there is no reason to continue as there is nothing to learn.
>> Anonymous
Charmander was my favorite pokemon. Nix that he's still my favorite.

Nice work Anonymous. Arms look fine either way IMHO.
>> Anonymous
I just finished mine!! W00t!!! It's my first papercraft too, and it looks awesome!
Let me share some of the things that i came up with while doing this.

OP and
>>116660>>116676>>116693>>116703>>116711>>116810>>116830>>116837>>116840>>116866

NO, the arms aren't backwards. OP just placed the right arm as left arm and left arm as right arm. So, they aren't backwards but misplaced.

>>116629
>>116630
I realize that the OP, as me as well, used an inkjet printer with normal paper. No matter how much glue is used, tabs are visible (not at first glance, but, yes, the ink and the glue i used didn't work well with each other).

And finally:>>116626
I agree! Yay for wrinkly orange thing!
>> A.r. !!1J3JRobqN2a
My first papercraft was the lined Suigintou. She took forever but came out alright (for the lined one) until my sister threw a water bottle at her. Never really did much papercraft since. Origami is my thing. And OP, I think the Charmander looks fine.
>> Anonymous
Papercraft has a lot to do with creating something new, not just following instructions. There is room to experiment and change, and if you like it that's what matters, even if it was by accident.
>> Anonymous
>>116891

if you think that, then i feel sorry for you
>> Complete newfag wanting to know something: Anonymous
Hey, so with the printouts i can obtain from Rapidshare, do I just use regular paper? Or is there harder, tougher, meaner paper I can put in my printer for a task such as Charmander and such?

I've experimented with a few different lb papers.. first regular paper.. which should do just fine for this model... and then 85.. I'll tell you now.. don't use 85 unless you want to make extremely strong.. boxy type items... it is far to thick for round edges... 35 seems to be the best.

>>117767
zer0 finger strength LOL

>>117767

I've done every model picture with 110lb cardstock.
>> Anonymous
>117802

That's exactly how you do it - 110 lb cardstock, these fucktards "experimenting" with other types of paper are just to dumb to realize it.
>> tohru-kun !hPvy9MQFoc
     File :-(, x)
>>117802
that's what I use too.
every person I see that says it's too thick needs some more experience under their belt/get some stronger hands. Printer paper is waaaaay too flimsy.

>>117802
Win for Indi Jones!

And that bird looks great
>> Anonymous
I also use 110lb, sometimes 65lb. Only use the 20ish-lb paper for quick tests, or simple laughable stupid stuff that I will destroy for amusement like nana-in-box or paperformers.
>> Jen
I've used paper that was 20 lb weight once: when I wanted to do a test build of Sonic the Hedgehog. The only other time I use such thin paper is when I'm sketching on it to make new templates, like the katamari cousins.

I'd recommend 40-65 lb weight for starters, and then if you get really used to the thicker paper then try 110 lb paper.
>> Anonymous
I've been using just printer paper and things have been going okay for me.
I just went out last night though and bought some nice, thicker, I think it was either 40 or 67lb paper for a WCC I'm making for a friend. It's working alright but I've had to change how I score th paper, because my little plastic thing I use just won't work with it, except for like huge folds.
I can't imagine using 110lb cardstock, :x
That stuff seems like it would just be way to heavy duty.

Seriously, I've only used 110lb cardstock, I can't imagine using anything thinner; I'd be afraid of the model breaking.

(I'm the one who posted the picture with the eagle btw, forgot i cleared my cookies.)
