I'm sure you love to see everyone fail, you haven't done anything yourself so what've you got to show ;)

I want to know how the upper back of his shell is shaped and how it forms, seems koopa-like though

Maybe you can find some "Squirtle"-Pokémon episodes on Youtube? Some avid Pokémon fan (which I am not...) could probably give you a number of episodes in which Squirtle plays a large role.
And I don't know if you might be able to find screenshots from Pokémon battle games, in those kind of games you can usally get pretty good views.
And yes, I do think you could just suffice with a "Koopa"-like shield. I can imagine/remember? the shield looking pretty basic with nothing out of the ordinary.

Yeah, I watched a few episodes to get the belly down, I'm worried about the shape of his top shell, all google images only show that certain angle of him, I want this to be as close as can be!

If there's a good 3d game that has him in and plays on PC

Okkie got the episode of squirtle squad DLing now

Ignore the pose drawn, he wont be made *in* that pose...... is this close enough to his shell shape and body proportions?

That's about right.

I am no expert, but maybe the shell needs to be a little more less high than wide (oval cross section but not too oval instead of a more round one like on your sketch).
But I think the colors and the overall shape will make every Pokémon fan go "wow, a Squirtle papercraft!" and they won't mind if it's more sperical than eggshaped or the other way around. ;)

I noticed his chest is more flat and he gets plump down lower, I have his belly detail done but getting it folded right is tricky, the collar of his shell comes up high and has a weird fold at the top..I sure wish there were other photos of the completed chokipeta

Pokémons are living creatures, not one Squirtle is the same as the next Squirtle, there are probably fat squirtles from kids overfeeding them lol and Squirtles that are skinny because their owners don't care for them well enough. ;)
Of course it's good to get inspiration for difficult parts from other works, but I think you're doing a great job if you make a Squirtle the way YOU imagine it. And any difficult folds is just trial-and-error until you get it right, I think that's the real power of doing it by hand and not on the computer: you can see instantly if a part is going to work because you're basically testbuilding it as you're designing it, while with Pepakura and the computer, it's often difficult to imagine how a part is going to work, and when it turns out it doesn't work the way you imagine it, many people unfortunately don't like the idea of having to go several steps back to fix a minor thing so they leave it that way... Sometimes it's not a big deal though and you can fix it yourself while building it so you can still make the papercraft you like. ;)
