you can make your own papercraft in 1 of 2 ways. (the programs are all in caps so you can quick scan the names)
1)get a 3d modeling program such as MAYA or milkshape 3d, or 3dmax whatever your preferance, and create a low poly model of your choice. if you have built many papercraft models you know what works and what doesn't so keep that in mind as you design the deal. Texture the model using PHOTOSHOP or a simmilar program. next export that file to .obj format. Now you need the PEPAKURA DESIGNER, they just released ver 2.0 :) and this will allow you to generate an unfolding pattern. People like PDF's its a good way to keep together many pages in one document as opposed to 15 jpg files, file size can be kept reasonable and you have the option for vector which is always a bonus. (optional program) ADOBE ACROBAT

or

2) Using your knowledge of papercraft pieces or your mad geometry/math skills use a sketch to generate the unfold pattern yourself. This is a much more time consuming method (both require a lot of time to do properly) however you get smoother finished models. The computer wants to make things out of polygons, and in real life things are much more organic so to obtain the same end result one would have to use high poly models and ignore/erase all the lines that are unnecessary to the building/completion of the model.

you can try a less mathematical approach than mentioned there, where you sort of bend the paper to make tubes, and make cuts in it and stuff, and then when you have a model you're happy with, you can scan it in, after marking the cut and fold lines and such.

this might be hard if you're not too good at art/maths though..
