Stargate papercraft? Anonymous
Any decent papercraft of the Stargate & DHD? Attached is the only one I've found- decent textures, but too simple geometry.

There's couple other versions-
<- with the event horizon, movie version

And a simple base.

Anyone? If there's no higher quality ones out there, I'll make my own- I just wanted to make sure some else hadn't already made them.

I would love to see some Stargate papercrafts.

this reminds me of the 20 bladed iris I built a long time ago. That takes a lot of patience. I used string as the joints on a rim. This is the first time I've seen this papercraft thing. Awesome stuff.

Starcraft papergate?

i humbly request someone sharing that iris thingy

There are some other Stargate papercrafts at the bottom of this page:

There's the Puddle Jumper and a couple Asgard and Tau'ri ships, but the only stargate model there is the one already posted.

I don't have the printouts. It was just a project I made when I was bored. Open up photoshop or something and mess with the pen tool. But yeah if you do make one use a thread and needle and punch it through the joint you mark when you print it out. Then use scotch tape and make it tight. Then just draw the circle for the rim with 20 holes. Took me a while before I got the blades right.

Never got around to making it open and close automatically.

OP here... seeing as there's apparently no better models out there, I started with a simple modification of the one I first posted. I scaled it pretty small (slightly over 3" diameter)- I think I'll aim for that size for my final version. The only modifications was to print out two extra of each of the chevron-locky things which I then cut out and stacked on top of the ones on the front of the ring to make them pop out more. That actually almost gives it the appearance I'm looking for- but it needs a bit more work.

For those looking to build the version without the event horizon, note that you'll need to print a third edge strip- you need one strip for the inner perimeter and about 1.3 for the outer perimeter. If /po/ wants, I can post a PDF with everything needed for this model on one page.

Heh, thanks, I'm not quite satisfied with it yet though- the proportions are a little off and it's still a bit too flat. Yes, I'm being nitpicky. I'm going to give a shot at making my own, starting with this image. If anyone has a higher-res version of this, I'd be much appreciative!

Here's mine! (with the TV event horizon, cause Michael Shanks > James Spader)

saving this from page 10!
>> OP
If anyone has a high-res render of the gate- a head-on view like the one I posted earlier- that'd be great for me to use to design a new papercraft. Here's hoping. Otherwise, I'll just enhance the other image with Photoshop- it'll be good enough for the scale I'm designing it at.

I can get a pic of the gate from garrys mod, at least 1920x1200 might be able to crop a few shots together and get bigger

any designs on the iris?
>> OP

If the model's that good, then great. You'd probably want to try one with the chevrons lit and one not, as the glow might be a little weird on the papercraft.

And I'll also give a shot at making an iris. It won't be able to open, but should look fairly accurate. Ideally, I'll figure out a way to engineer it so that you can swap out the middle- empty, event horizon, or iris.

I'll probably start working on the new design in a few days- I have a few tests to get out of the way first though.

Oh, and if anyone can use TrueSpace or 3ds Max, there's what appears to be a really good quality model at this link:
http://www.tgeweb.com/object-archive2.htm
It's available as a textured model in .cob and .3ds formats, but I don't have/aren't proficient with a program to open those and retain the textures.

any on got the Atlantis one?
