Stencil assistance Jasper T.
Umm..hey /po/

I'm trying to make a stencil for a t-shirt and I'm kinda stuck on the stencil part.

I found a pic that I really want to use from an artist in Sou Palo, Brazil but I'm not sure how to go from the picture to the product.

Pic extremely related- it's the origional.

OP here,

So far I boosted the contrast and cut away a lot of junk, but there is some stuff that got lost...
I'm using the GIMP and I don't have any experience but it totally want to learn everything there is to know to get better.

Well, this is just some filters and shit in Photoshop that I did pretty quickly. Just be smart when cutting it and make the parts smoother and you should be fine.

Wow. Thank you very much, but how can I learn how to do what you did?

I've just used Photoshop a lot, and I didn't really spend much time on it. All I did was made it bigger, adjusted the levels, used the Cut-out filter and manually added some parts with the pen tool. I corrected some of the islands I saw (I'm sure I missed one or two.)

Most of the work is done when you're cutting it. :) Good luck.

look around on the internet for private or group teachers for photoshop in your area. its not hard to learn just takes a bit of time before it all goes fluently

any help?

Heh. To tell you the truth, this is my first stencil so I'm not sure what is good.

I just thought that having the most parts blacked out, the better. is it true? does that make sence?

Not sure I understand you. Usually the simpler the shapes, the better. Make sure you have no islands ( little bits of white surrounded by black. ) and that you can cut it out. If you wish to paint with it more than once, make it out of something sturdier than regular paper. Hell, if you only paint it once, I'd still recommend at least cardstock.
