Somebody purchased that same one a little while ago, all happy, because it was "the last copy available". I already pointed out it was just a copy and the seller would probably just make new copies once (s)he got a new 50-pack cd-R. ;o)
Issue remains the same, though: I wonder wether the metallic shine will come out as great when you print the scans yourself on regular cardstock instead of using the original, pre-printed metallic paper parts? The guy who bought it would keep us informed, but maybe (s)he hasn't recieved the package yet.

You could use tin-foil paper....

If the scans are only outlines of the parts, then yeah. But more likely, the parts will be greyish (scanned color from the original parts), and you'll be printing that greyish color all over your lovely tin-foil paper.
Bet you didn't think of that, did you? ;o)

rip to image file, use photoshop to extract black lines, print.

please tell me you thought of that ;\

Just buy a model, not a papercraft.

>>30388rip to image file, use photoshop to extract black lines, print.
So you didn't think of that (>>30352) and are now trying to save your face with this mega photoshop project idea of yours? ;o)
It does sound easy enough, doesn't it? And yet, when 99.9% of the people try to do that, they fail horribly...

Just print the scans you get on the pirated cd, and live with the fact that it won't have the metal shine. You'll save yourself a whole lot of time and annoyance by not trying the other ideas first and coming to the conclusion it's better just to print the scans as they are...

But hey, maybe if the kit gets uploaded here, somebody (that 0,1%) may want to try>>30388
and share the results? If it works, it works.

If you have the cash, you can print out the gray on glossy paper.

OK fine I'll post it after work, sheesh I seriously thought everyone forgot about this so I didn't have to upload 150+ mb on rapidshare.

And yes, it was scanned from the book, whoever did it didn't bother making good scans either (2 versions included in the photo cd 300 dpi and 600 dpi, was kinda expecting in the 900-1200 dpi range).

And I'm a guy. Yes it took 2 friggin weeks til I got the cd. As for the metallic shine, I think I'll order 'chrome plated' paper, and photoshop the grey out. I was also thinking of printing this on acetate sheets then screen silver vinyl (or stick vinyl used for vinyl signs) on the back, but that's just way too much labor.

I will post this tonight, 10:00 pm PST

Nice! And thanx... ;o)
I bet that's gonna be a long build, especially if you're going to edit the templates first... Good luck with that!

Is ot working? The photoshopping itself? And printing on "chrome-plated" paper?

Actually, I'm too busy with life's crap right now, I kinda threw in my ideas just in case someone might attempt to do them. I don't think I'll have this done soon. Sounds feasible though.
