PS2 memcard models Paperingman
'sup /po.

Is there a way one could extract the 3D models that represent game saves that show up when browsing the memory card contents on a PS2? I would love to export those into Pepakura for some low-poly goodness.

You can extract them with PS2SaveBuilder and/or IconInjector, both which can be found at ps2savetools.com, but I doubt that pepakura will be able to read them. Good luck though, and let us know if you manage to make it work.

After reading this post I thought, wow that would be really cool. I then found MilkShape 3D and some plugins to import/export the files exported in PS2 Save builder here: http://ps2dev.org/ps2/Tools/Texture_utilities

I've then been able to export it as a format that pepakura designer can read... but as many others have stated in their posts, it makes a page with a lot of tiny pieces (though not as bad as some other 3d objects I've messed around with). I was wondering the best approach to go about making these models a bit smaller on the polygon/triangle count (I'm assuming this is what needs to be done). I'm really new to working in 3D, and I've never used this MilkShape before today... but I figured I'd let you know that it is possible to get the memory card icons into pepakura designer... just with a few intermediate steps...

The deformed Lady from DMC3 sitting on her rocket launcher would be of the awesome.

If you could upload a one of the model as a .3ds or .obj I might be able to fix that

Here is a zip with the obj, mtl, bmp (texture), ico (PS2 Memory Card Icon), and max (SH3 Save Game file I got from GameFAQs).

http://www.sendspace.com/file/0thclu

I was also able to get the save icons from:

· .hack//Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarentine (A different grunty from each game)
·.hack//GU (Big Purple thing)
· Berserk (Puck)
· Castlevania Curse of Darkness (Bust of Hector)
· Devil May Cry (Trish)
· Devil May Cry 2 (Dante)
· Devil May Cry 3 (Lady on Kalina Ann)
· Digital Devil Saga (Cat)
· Digital Devil Saga 2 (Not quite sure what it is)

no other program besides milkshape 3d that can open/import these files some way?

milkshape is only free for 30 days and 1) it's illegal to use cracks/serials ;o) and 2) you'll have your computer infected with loads of spyware and viruses if you visit crack/warez sites

That's nice and all, but I was hoping for Psychonauts. :P

>>22914
1) If you own the game yourself, then install Google and search for a way to copy your savegame file to your pc. Then install PS2SaveBuilder and MilkShape 3D and the special plugins and extract the 3D model. Then install Pepakura and unfold the 3D model.

2) Even easier: install Google and search for a savegame made by someone else. Then install PS2SaveBuilder and MilkShape 3D and the special plugins and extract the 3D model. Then install Pepakura and unfold the 3D model.

If YOU like Psychonauts and YOU want a Psychonauts papercraft, then YOU do some work for a change. ;o)

Okay, I've made the SH3 Rabbit in Pepakura, and like iamamoogle said, lots of tiny peices. However, I could try deleting some faces in Milkshape and replacing them with flatter ones. (Not sure what that would do to the texture...) I'm also new to 3D design, so maybe someone more skilled would be better off doing this.

Anyways, even if I get it to have less faces, I couldn't upload it, as my Pepakura isn't registered, and I just can't upload alot of things on my crappy connection.
>> pdf printer Anonymous
If you set up a pdf printer (like http://www.pdf995.com/, but there may be better ones), you can do your stuff in Pepakura, and then choose "print": select the pdf printer, and instead of printing it on paper, it asks for a filename under which to save the pdf.

PDF995 is free, but it does display pop-up ads every time you use it. But I added those pop-up URLs to my pop-up killer, and they don't bother me anymore. ;o)

Haha! Paperingman begins to make progress!

It was a complete bitch to get AR MAX to work, let alone import this thing...

1) this is the internet, everything is illegal. 2) only if you are some loser with internet explorer

A Raz papercraft!? This is for great justice.

No it's not, plenty of legal stuff as well.

>>231472) only if you are some loser with internet explorer
It doesn't matter how good you are with Internet Explorer, where did you get that idea?? People who visit crack/warez site and still think they don't have a computer virus because their state-of-the-art antivirus/adware/spyware software doesn't find anything: trust me, your computer is infected as well. You just can't find it, and thus you cannot fix it... It's probably not too malicious though, if you haven't noticed any big changes. Probably...

Both remarks are just plain S.T.U.P.I.D. So GTFO.

i'd just like to say,
YAY for the raz papercraft!!! :D cant wait!

I've been pirating stuff for years and years and I've never gotten a virus from any site. I never use anti-virus, I never use firewalls.

If you know what your doing you can pirate stuff just fine without getting viri. If you believe that, you don't know enough about computers to make claims such as:

A virus will cause things to change on the computer, either things will start acting weird or it will start sending suspicious packets out of the network interface. You're nieve if you think a virus can be completly hidden.

Stop being such a whistle blower, stop using useless programs to "protect" your computer that end up just slowing it down, learn how to interact with windows better then your grandmother so you can remove any shit yourself, don't be an idiot and use internet explorer (it's a fact, ie sucks at security), don't be such a baby and...

MAKE PAPERCRAFT YOU FUCKERS!

I may be nieve (don't know what it means, though), but you're naieve if you think you know everything that's going on on your computer...
There are lots of things on your computer that you don't care/want to know about as long as they appear to be working fine. So smart malicious software doesn't change anything big, but only small things.
Like when you think you're getting pop-ups from certain websites you visit, when they're actually from a spyware program that has nestled itself in a part of your systemfolder that you never check because, well.. why should you? Your computer is running fine. Isn't it..?

And since you think it's just from surfing the internet, you don't bother to check where it's actually coming from...
But since it can't make BIG changes without alerting you like you said, you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Nowhere do I see "lame arguments".

Now all of you, shut up and help out, instead of wasting 4chan.

Aaaanyways, I've been toying with Robbie Rabbit, I got a build that looks buildable, but my printer is broken... And I can't upload things on 4chan for some reason.

If you use internet explorer, im sorry but you have viruses, its what everyone uses and its not very secure so thats what is easiest to attack. go get firefox or something.

Sage because of pointless discussion about viruses and it's better to open a new post when the papercrafts are finished.
And "viri"? You're the same retard as>>23159If you know what your doing you can pirate stuff just fine without getting viri?

Oh yes, you're oh so safe... How do people like you survive??
