I need suggestions for
-knife
-cutting mat
-glue
-paper
-anything else
I just did a ceiling cat papercraft with light printing paper, dull box cutter and toxic model glue that dries in 10 minuets. It was my first papercraft.

Brit here, but from what i have gathered americans would say:
x-acto knife, self healing mat, elmers glue (?), 110lb cardstock, ruler and empty ballpoint pen for scoring.

if you are british, just get a craft knife or a scalpel, a healing cutting mat, glueguns rock but uhu or similar are as good, 160ish gsm card, ruler and empty ballpoint pen for scoring

Would be nice of we could put links to tutorials/FAQ in the sticky then we'd know who was trolling in this fashion.

Knives are usually xacto's, or box cutters, and a good pair of scissors. Xacto and blades with my scissors cost me about $7.

Cutting mats are any good self repairing variety. BUT any good hard surface that wont absorb marks, or a Used Phone Book could also work. I got a good mat for $10 at my local Wal-Mart.

Glue: At the paperworks site some members started a month or so ago, we have a post about the glues we use. Anything from contact superglues to Elmers (which is slow to bond, and can be messy) is okay, its mostly personal preference. (and depends on the country you're in) I used Aleene's Original Tacky Glue for most of mine, but now use Loctite brand super glue.

Paper: again, depends on what you're doing. 20-24lb copier/printer paper is common for smaller models. 65 lb paper is a bit stiffer and good for larger models. 110 lb (pound) card stock type paper is for models or support pieces you want to be really strong. I use 110lb card stock for almost all my models.

Here's a link to the paperworks site. (our home away from home when /b/ invades)

protip: buy a damn scalpel. cheap but quality blades and handles that last longer, blade is less bendy then your average craft knife and there's more choice for curved blades.

curved blades fail for papercraft

I like my xacto knife, works beautifully on cardstock and paper even though it has no point

a sticky would be fantastic i mean it wouldn't stop the trolls going "durr hurr what does i use"
however for the people that wonder in here from another forum it would be an absolute goldmine, especially if it provided alternate suggestions

such as im from oz and couldnt find x-actos,elmers glue, and had to google conversion for paper. now that i know i use a hobby knife found in scrapbooking at k-mart, pva glue with a toothpick to apply which my missus aqurired from school as it was almost empty, but is also available at k-mart, the self-healing mat i found also at k-mart for ~$10.

the closest thing to 110lb paper i could find at k-mart as well i bought everything else there was glossy photo paper which i think is 180gsm, but if im making cubee stuff ive been using regular printing paper

another thing i use is the knife sharpener from the kitchen drawer to resharpen blades don't know if this works physically, but it works psychologically

additional also you can probably substitute k-mart for big w

tl:dr a sticky would be great with info for various countries
