Pepakura is the best and cheapest papercraft software out there.
You can't save or export your work. Exporting can be remedied by printing to pdf or by copying your work the clipboard then pasting it to Paint which you claim to have. ;o)
The biggest problem is not being able to save (unless you buy a registration key). Don't make your model in one big file, but just make seperate parts: hands, feet, legs, arms, torso, head, hair. That way you'll be able to finish a part before it's time to call it a day.
Or you can download a keygenerator for Pepakura but I'll give no help with that. ;o)

That should give you a clue about how full of feces they are. ;o)

You put your own stuff in Pepakura by choosing File > open > and then opening your 3D model.

Now if you meant: "I need a free 3D app" then I suggest SketchUp or Metasequoia.
You won't find a free papercraft software that's better (half as good) than Pepakura, sorry.

when i open a file does it have to be .pdo? or will a .jpg atually work....wait duhwhy dont i just try it. ok never mind it doesnt work so how would i use it then?

now ive also heard of 3D apps but what exactly do thay do?

srry im such a bother but ive only in the last month gotten my own laptop, i used to use my old room-mates but they moved out about 4-5monthes ago so im trying to catch up on the pepa scene.

If you want to design a papercraft yourself, a pdo is what you get out of it, not what you put into it. You need to create a 3D computer generated model (using a 3D app(lication) = software program) made out of polygons, and Pepakura can then unfold that 3D model to a 2D template.
Since a jpeg is already 2D, there's nothing to unfold...

I think you are confused about what it is Pepakura actually does, you chould check the website:
http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/productinfo/product_index.html

and maybe the small tutorial on how to make a (homeworld) paper model at
http://www.ericksmodels.com/paper/step6.html

ah i see now pepakura is not what u create the 3D veiw with, its what u unfold with. ok so if i were to download metasequoia, that would be a good step forward?

so now how do i get the jpeg to be 3D editable?

That is correct.
Metasequoia is one of the many 3D software programs you can use, but I'm afraid there's no magic button to automatically make a 2D jpeg image into a 3D model...
You will have to teach yourself the basics of 3D modelling and make a model from scratch; you can only use the 2D image as an example of what the 3D model needs to look like, not much else.
I'm guessing you are very new to making papercrafts with Pepakura and 3D software, maybe Metasequoia is not the best program for you. Sketchup's standard version is also free and much easier to use for beginners. You can export the models as kmz files that Pepakura can also open.
I think you should try making a simple cube first or something, and try out all the buttons and menus on Metasequoia/Sketchup (whichever you decide to use) to see what they do. Then open your cube in Pepakura and push all the buttons, read the help files and any tutorials you can find on the internet to see if you can figure out how everything works. It will take a lot of time to learn yourself this stuff, but just trying and failing the first few times usually works for most people.

thanks for your kindness i guess there has to be some nice ppl here on 4chan.

so i think ill go get sketchup and see how it goes from there.ill play around with all the little buttons. and when i start to getused to making stuff with it, i'll start to play around with meta a little. and i'll be sure to check in with the 4chaner /po/eple every now and then.

i am not this person> but yeah i agree metasequoia is a really nice program to use, i had a hard time getting the shapes i wanted in google sketchup, i found i like metasequoia better.. basically you spend the most time in the 3d editor, making only an outside shell of the 3d shape (most game models have limb joints to allow for movement) all you need to make is the basic 3d outside shape save it in any acceptable 3d file type and open it in pepakura designer, i highly recommend either buying the full version, or downloading a keygen, unclick auto unfold, and join-unjoin faces in the 2d side for your self to make the build simpler. a full charachter may be a little ambitious for your first model. ESPECIALLY for not knowing how to use a 3d editor. i recommend playing around with the 3d program, and making different things, for practice, and seeing what pepakura dose with them, theres no other way really to explain how pepakura hanldes certain things but to see it for yourself. i hope this helps a bit, not too long ago i had no clue either, and was asking the same questions.

metasequoia here

sketchup here

pepakura here

keygens, i recommend usiong google for your needs, or a bit-torrent downloader

Run a virusscan (http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/activescan/) right now, and get HiJackthis and post the log on a help forum (Help2go.com).
Your system is bound to be full of viruses and spy/adware that you don't know of...

ok if you were to actually read the enitire thread then you would kindof know that im new at this.
>>74879
thank you for helping me with this stuff.
so what your saying is that i will probably be able to make a better papercraft if i get used to how it works.
>>75116
yes you reall should run a virus scan. i used to use limewire on my old computer and it turns out that there was a virus that some how disabled my virus protection, so my computer became infested with viruses before i even noticed.
last but not least

ive been trying really hard to find a better way to use my laptop keyboad, although i have had it for over a month or two, i still havent adapted to not having a plug in english/japanese keyboard.

I don't see what being new to papercraft has to do with being an underage weeaboo.
