I use it, it's fairly easy. When I started a project, I just learned as I went. I was fairly good at papercrafting when I first used it, so I knew how parts and layouts were supposed to look. You need a bit of experience in making other people's papercrafts before you can use Pepakura. That being said, when I did use it, it only took me a couple of hours to fully understand what I was doing. I just learned as I went along. It's not hard like a 3D modeling program, it only has a few functions you can go through.
If you want the hard truth, what you've imported, that head, will never be a papercraft. It's got way too many polygons, and even if you did reduce the amount of polygons in a modeling program, it would still be near impossible. Models need to be kept to a low polygon count.
