how do you go about obtaining your .pdo models

I make my own then import, but there are a variety of websites (turbosquid is the best example) with free resources.

You really need to be more specific.

You can make them yourself (no easy task) take some from other people (be sure to credit!!) or extract from games (no easy task)

Then you put it in Pepakura and make it into a BUILDABLE FORM. Most people just load the file into Pepakura, hit "unfold" and then think they have a model to make. Wrong.

On a model that I made that had 1800 faces, the unfolding process took me 8 hours straight. And that was my first model, which had many, many mistakes

D:< was that by hand or with pepakura? and was that the auto unfold or the refining to make it buildable.
if its the refining then i see what you mean. but if you meant the auto unfold, damn your computer is sloooowwww.

i accidently uploaded a 3d model with like..... 26,000 or 260,000 faces into pep and didnt read very well and hit unfold.
it unfolded, yes, but took like 30 minutes. >.< and compy was half froze whole time.
