Mod Podge? Anonymous
Has anyone here tried using Mod Podge to seal their crafts?

-- What kind of Mod Podge is ok to use. I saw this Paper Mod Podge. Is that better than regular Mod Podge?

-- Since it needs to be brushed on, will the Mod Podge smudge the ink?

-- Does it leave brush marks?

-- And how many coats do you need?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I used to use this for oil paints... BUT it was Mod Podge Gloss-Lustre not the paper variety.

I'm about to try it out on a papercraft to see if it works.

I use the matte finish mod podge on all my paper crafts. If you use epson printers your ink will never smear, I'm not to sure about other printers. one or two coats will do the trick, but if you want your paper craft to be really hard use four or five. depending on the brush you use and how much you apply at a time will determine wether or not you see brush marks. Using mod podge will make your image darker. hope this helps^_^

I tried Mod Podge Gloss-Lustre and it caused the orange and brown colors to smear. I use Krylon Matte Finish Spray; it's a non gloss finish but for a glossy finish you can use Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I think I'll give it a try. I'll get a small jar to try. I use a Canon printer.

Would love to hear from anyone else. Thanks.

Someone has suggested that I try Patricia Nimock's Sealer, has anyone tried it?

Well, I looked around, and sure enough, I had a can of this in my supply drawer. Just tried it out on a model... Looks pretty good.

It dried relatively quickly, made the printed ink from my HP printer darken up a little tiny bit. One coat stiffened the paper up pretty well, but I'm gonna try a second coat.

Thanks for the feedback, Storm. I'll go get myself a can each of the glossy and the matte. It was suggested to me by a guy who uses it to waterproof his printable DVD's.
