Model files Anonymous
Where are the model files located for Portal (in the game's directory, I can't seem to find them) and what program do I need to open them? I wanted to try my hand at creating some papercraft not just downloading and I figured I should start with something with plenty of things to compare it to like the companion cube.

And that's my cue to screw with this until my fingers fall off

i made that one already. if you full size it, it'll probably take you about 13 pieces of paper to make it. Keeping it shrunk, it's just one, but...holy fuck are those small tabs A LIVING NIGHTMARE

I have it half made already, at least all the cuts are made. Still trying to find a decent glue to keep it all together. I suppose I should cave and go to the local hobby shop but I haven't had the time yet.

i just used normal white elmers glue and it worked fine. left a glob out on some paper to let it set up a little and become thicker and really tacky and applied with toothpick.

I suppose I could try it, that's what I do for my homework models (buildings out of chip board not things which are actually halfway challenging to make).

I usually just use tacky glue. Apply it with a toothpick, or those wooden coffee stir sticks work really well too.

if you print it at its full scale, its actually pretty large. if you fit it to one page however, yes, its small.

You need to get a program called GCFScape. This lets you open the .gcf files in your steamapps/ directory, which is where them models be hiding.
