do a little thinking, maybe make the armor seperate from the black part which is supposed to be the jumpsuit or what ever, and make the black parts from something like cloth with wire inside. there are a million ways to do it, just be creative.

Fairly simple, if you can think visually.

Construct each limb as a separate piece, and close the "mouth" to each piece (shoulder, hip, etc.) with some more paper, trimmed to shape, and with a brad stuck through it.

Construct the torso last and fold the brads down on the inside of it before sealing shut.

If you want to make your papercraft something more like a toy, i suggest making a skeleton like frame and "skinning" it with the papercraft. If you just want something that has a few poses that you're not going to mess with too often, paper fasteners attaching sections together would be easier and faster.

Pic related; my "papercraft" joint system. Hope it gives you some inspiration on what to do.

many of the relatively simple robots at the above link have movable arms, etc.

you should find some ideas.

You can't really use the pieces of a papercraft model like this MasterChief, to make it movable the way I think you want. The connections between the bodyparts are fit for just one position. If you want to make another position, you have to make a different connection, different parts. You could try to adjust the parts so they fit for all positions, but this basically comes down to just omitting a piece of the connection, and it won't look very nice with large gaps...
Or the other way is to make sort of a "ball" end on the legs for example, and then cut a hole on the hip where you can stick the leg in. It still won't be perfectly movable though, you'll always have gaps, especially on complex models like this MasterChief.
