I love Alien
It would be very cool.....
Rürk of Site Aliens Papercraft, is making Endoesqueketon T800 of the exterminator of the Future in scale 1:1 heheheh.....

wow

if you remove about 3000 polygons it could be done. lol. but a simple full body model would be better than only the head. maybe there is a way to rip the models from Alien VS Predator 1 or 2.

I would kill for a life size model :) Goodluck on this. I love Aliens
>> chamoo232
life size chest buster or face hugger. that would be nice.

here's the template

Well yeah, to be able to build it like this, it will probably HAVE to life-size. ;)
For starters, I'd remove the wrinkled upper lip (or whatever the hell it is ;) etc, most of those small ridges and other small "stuff." For the best papercraft (not 8 feet high and easy to build ;) most of that stuff would be better as a texture, not actually something you'd have to fold and glue in 3D.
"Sometimes" you guys don't pick the best 3D models to try and make into papercraft lol but nonetheless good luck of course, because well you know; who doesn't like acid-bleeding killer aliens? ;)

Milkshape 3d can open AvP2 models and convert them to 3ds.

Holy shits.

You may die.

that could be very nice to make a whole alien model or maybe even a predator. AVP1 or 2 are old games so the models shouldnt have too much polygons

yeah, AvP1 should be perfect for that

I've actualy got the polycount right about where I want it for the level of 3D detail I want.... Sure, I could chop the count way down & do all the details in the texture, but then it would look more like the hako above... I don't pick the 3D models I do because they are easy, I pick them because they have the detail I want... I don't make these as papercraft, I make them as models... The material I'm using is the least impotant factor... I could be doing it on styrene, foam, or clay just as well... My primary concern is for the final result... How good it looks. :)

I make my models out of paper because I have no other material to work with. imagine cerberus out of clay... hehe

YEEES! i've been waiting for this, there's a bunch of other alien stuff, but not really the most important things, aliens! i'd love to have one of these, also life-size facehugger would be cool i'd hang it up to wall or something :D

I'm confused, are you letting us know you're planning to make a papercraft template of this or not??
>> Anonymous
Well there's your problem!

If you don't know what material you're gonna use (since you're posting on a papercraft and origami board, we kinda all assumed you were planning on using paper) you can't plan ahead and make sure your ideas are not impossible to do in a certain material later on; different materials have different limitations and you need to think about that ahead of time. Papercraft is not very suited for very small details for instance.

But why the hell make a computer generated 3D model if you're gonna make it out of styrene/foam/clay?? Do you have a "3D printer" that can sculpt styrene and stuff in 3D? Those are awesome! (and kinda expensive) But if it's just for reference for sculpting, a bunch of good reference pictures are usually enough and it would save you a lot of time finding those instead of (re-)modelling such a detailed 3D model.

bump for predator helmet or weapons

I would love to see both models of the Alien & The Predator. It would be FANTASTIC to have a life-size model that people could make.

Keep up the fantastic work Wolf.

ok...

1. Yes, I'm doing this as papercraft, & will be releasing the templates when it's completed... That's why I posted it here... :)

2. I always consider what materials I'm going to use beforehand... I've worked with other rapid prototyping techniques, & do have softweare that does layered manufacturing, but untill I get a new plotter/cutter, it's way to time consuming to handcut each layer... Pepakura is primarily a surface modeler. A very basic form of rapid prototyping. I've used it ALOT for prop & costume construction... Usualy to rough out the base, then I do the detailing over the stiffened paper in plastic, plaster, or clay... I have done several projects strictly with paper, both using straight models or layered detail parts... A coat of superglue & some paint, & you would swear it was metal or plastic from a few inches away.

The main thing I enjoy about paper, aside from the relatively low cost, is it's theraputic use... I can do it watching tv, while surfing the internet, or in bed on days when I'm not up & around... It keeps my hands & mind busy, & less focused on how I got old way sooner than I wanted to... ;)

Excellent news Wolf, How is eveything going with the Guyver & ironman models?

would you post some pics of the guyver model of how you are doing.

Keep up the fantastic work!!!

loks like a hard model to make in to paper model are you gona risize polygon on the model and make lots of details in the skin insted of the model ?

Well if you know all this stuff, then don't make posts that make us believe you don't lol!

Personally I don't really understand why some people want to make some awesome looking paper model out of paper and then try to make it look like it's NOT made from paper; then DON'T make it out of paper. Of course for many people making their own resin kits isn't exactly an option, but if it's a papercraft, then be proud you can make whatever it is you might have built this awesome looking out of paper.
But that's just me. ;) Since you're a prop builder, I can understand why you do extra work to make a paper prop look like a "real" item.
Now that I think of it, it may explain a little why on your Ironman model you're not to concerned about overlapping parts and other imperfections; since you do extra work afterwards to fix any open holes and/or add more detail anyway! But I think for by far most /po/eple, they cut out the parts, glue them together, and then it should be finished, they don't do this extra step that does step away from /po/. Not everybody does papercraft for the therapeutic benefits, many /po/eple enjoy papercraft but/because they also want quick, good looking results!
Anyway, I hope these guys constantly /r/ new stuff and asking when it will be finished aren't getting on your nerves, but I'm sure it's nothing a little papercrafting can't cure! ;)
