So i've been papercrafting semi actively for a little over a year now, i use a retractable art knife, 23x23 inch cutting mat, elmers, 110lb cardstock, etc etc etc

However, i have noticed i am just really SLOW. It takes me forever to get anyhting done.. even like a two page papercraft can take me up to 2 or 3 hours even if it is easy as hell and has like 10 or 15 pieces..

It just feelsl ike everything is so time consuming, like scoring, cutting, folding, colouring (the white sides of cardstock) gluing etc..

Nearly everything i make takes me like a week or longer to make, even if i am working a couple of hours a day, and i see people finishing their papercrafts within days on /po/...so tell me

Do i just work slow? Is this just as long as it is suppose to take? Will i get noticeably faster over time?

I'm making kamikuzu's AK 47 right now, and i estimate it will take me a week or two.. :(

Don't worry about it, simply work at your own rate. Trying to build simply to match the speed of others is going to make you frustrated and will turn you off building.

I'm not the fastest builder either, I take my time and attempt to do the best work that I can (when I'm not prototyping).

Took me 3 hours to make my first papercraft in this century.
Pic related (found here and thanks to the original poster): that's the one..

You're still faster than me. I've been working on chamoo232's Rollermine (3 pages) for the past few weeks. Even when I used to do hakos, they would take at least an hour.

I do have reasons, though.
1) I work on a bunch of different models at a time, so I don't get bored or stuck.
2) I always let the glue dry for a minute of two on each tab; I've found my models look sloppy if I try to rush them
3) I only work on papercrafts like an hour a day.

OH GOD I FEEL THIS WAY ALL THE TIME!!!

In a two-year period I had like twenty-something models going on at once - never saw a single one of them through to the end. my floor got so cluttered that I had to throw them all out...

So here they are, sitting in my papercraft folder... just waiting to be made... OH GOD MY BABIEESSS

Also, itt internet grief counseling

I feel so much better about my papercrafting abilities now. *cathartic sob* Thank you, anon.

Most simple papercrafts will take at least 3 hours. The more advanced ones and the ones with many small parts will take days or even weeks.

I still haven't finished redyoshi's samus, and there's little chance i'm going to finish the tarakia chokipeta model :(

Took me 6 months to complete...
Well, actually five of those months it stayed in the closet waiting to be continued, intil past summer, but still it took me one month of 3 daily hours of work.
Good things take their time, don't rush your papercrafts. The more time you take, the better they are.
remmember: they will be much more time in display than in building, isn't it worthy to take 2 or 3 days more to build it to make you feel prouder to look at it?
personally I wouldn't like to have something that could have looked great for months ruined for just a rush hour.

Christ. Looks great.

You think you're slow? HA! It's been months since I started the Front Mission Zenith papercraft, and I haven't even started on his legs.

I chalk my slowness up to school.

op here, that is really well made, fuck

yeah, i find i wait much longer between tabs than i used to. Then again, my stuff used to look a lot worse so i guess it is a turn for the better, haha

thank you /po/, i think i'll just take my time now. not like i have a due date or anything

I've been up to this since college. I've found that I spend most of my time cutting, and anytime I have to make cylinders. I have OCD, and my obsession is patterns and symmetry. Even the piles of clothes in my room are sorted by color and material. So when I'm cutting something I'm unsure of, I have to stop, stare, calculate and possibly even take some aspirin to finish cutting uneven models.

So basic papercrafts in 2 or 3 hours, congratulations. I spent an hour and a half on the CEILING CAT. It's just a hobby dude, do it to take up time! Crack is whack, stay in school.

Agreed, it's a hobby, not a work.
its supposed to be fun to build papercrafts, not stressing.
If you feel desperated building something, you're doing something wrong. leave it, do something else and continue qhen you feel like it.
