Pixel-Kakashi
Ok here's my progress with Drifloon, I have a question for you fellow /po/ers, what type of "hands" do you think is better?

The rounder and harder or the squarer and easier?

And also, how should I connect the "hands" to the body? or should I leave it to each person?
>> Anonymous
Rounder and harder, and I guess you could just put a note to connect with a wire. That way it would curve appropriately.
>> PaperWitch !!Cgu+cfuG8aQ
I rather like the idea of the easier hands myself but I'm not picky.

Also I think it would work to use some sort of string to connect the hands.

But I'm sure someone else has a better solution.
>> Anonymous
I'd go with the harder and rounder. Hey Pixel could you do a Jumpluff?
>> Pixel-Kakashi
     File :-(, x)
Here's the artwork, I think the idea of the wire is best.
>> Anonymous
>>66688
Well aren't I resourceful.

What game are you ripping these from and with what program?
There are a few pokemon I want to do without making your request list any longer.
>> Anonymous
I prefer the easier ones, myself, but is there any way you could include both? Also, I think using wire or string would be the best way to attach the hands. I guess someone could use very thin strips of paper but it probably wouldn't look as good.
>> Anonymous
>>66690
Sting would be kind of lifeless, that's why I said a wire. You could curve it easily ,just make hooks to attach it and they'd bounce a little.
>> Anonymous
>>66693
Haha, string*
>> Pixel-Kakashi
>>66689
This one isn't ripped, I modeled it from scratch.

If you want the pokemons, tell me which ones you want and I'll upload the 3d models.

Not likely, I'm not such a good modeler, maybe, if you could rip the model from the wii game...

Ive never used wires for a papercraft before. Searching my house, it seems I have no wires. Except for the wires in garbage bag twisties. I can rip the paper off of those and use that wire, do you think that would be good enough?

It should work perfectly.

Ok, then! I'll use those when/if this model is released. Still working on Gengar at the moment, though.

>> Anonymous
I think to be fair on every one and to save pixel loads of hassle get pixel to select 3 or 4 pokemon and we vote on the one we want made
good idea or does it fail?
>> Anonymous
>>66912
Only problem with this is that it assumes that Pixel actually likes to do /po/'s bidding. I don't know if he wants to, but I'd say Pixel should make the Pokémon HE likes, not the ones that /po/ likes (or no Pokémon at all, but a different papercraft if Pixel has had enough of Pokémon for now, or no papercraft at all if he wants to do something else).
"What does Pixel want to do?" seems like a more important question than "what Pokémon does /po/ want to see papercrafted?"
>> Pixel-Kakashi
Ok, this is my to-do list:

-Drifloon
-Corsola
-Umbreon
-Onyx
-Chinchou
-Seaking
-Meowth
-Jumpluff
-Lugia
-Conker the squirrel
-The reaper
-Boo from Mario
-Princess Peach
-Toad

These are not in any specific order, I'll just do what I feel like doing, maybe I'll add something else to the list.

Any updates will be posted here.

2.what program do you use to extract the 3d models?

It's not a program, it's a plugin for the emulator, you unrar this file and put it inside the plugins folder of 1964

use the right plugin. just putting the plugin into the plugin folder doesn't do anything. you have to set your plugins.
>> Anonymous
>>67402

And to change your plugin, open the emu, don't start a rom and the plugin select should be available to select in the plugin menu.

Also, still looking for deep exploration. Surely someone has it?

will it be that you can help myself... did I lower the emulator the plugin... did I make everything what was necessary... but when will I carry the rom in any one of the two emulators of the a mistake and clamor.... when do I incapacitate the plugin the emulator works perfect... does he know how to tell me the one what can be?

I didn't realize how much work it was to get through "Round 1", but I'll be done within 24 hours.
>> Anonymous
>>66678The rounder and harder or the squarer and easier?
To get back on topic: there's actually not much difference I think. The squarer ones have less polygons, but it doesn't really dramatically decrease the difficulty, the shape is just a difficult shape to make.
The squarer ones have more "pointier" edges, which might actually be harder to fold to get the shape right than the rounder ones. I'm not convinced it's really that much easier. Did you testbuild both versions?
>> Anonymous
Arrgg come on /po/, someone must have deep exploration! :(

I can start making some pokemanz if I get it

Yes, I deleted the file 'cause it's illegal content, I'll re-upload it in a moment.

>>67475
If your emulator crashes with the plugin then your video card isn't good enough. If you speak spanish, post in spanish.

>> Anonymous
>>67663That's right. You can over spec some programs. As an example, I can't run Warcraft(the first one) on my computer with Windows XP.
That's because it's a MS DOS game, and Windows XP doesn't do DOS.
That's not over spec'ing, that's just not having the right software.

>> Pixel-Kakashi
>>67687all i have other than that is wings 3d, but its not full version

What do you mean? Wings3D is completely free.

And also, are you really sure that you know how to edit the models to turn them into papercrafts? I mean, like, how the polygons should be and the texturing?

No offense, but, you seem like a noob who thinks it's really easy and will fail at the first attempt.

Listen all you guys, I don't need any help, I don't "have" to do this, like annon said many times, I'm doing it because I like to do it and will stop when I want to stop, if all you want it's an specific character, say so, I will gladly make it, and if you want to make it yourself then just ask for the model, I'll upload it, just like I did with the eevees annon asked for, but only if you can't rip the model yourselves.

So please, stop saying you'll help me, just ask for what you want.

Hey guys, question or two. I'm making Hoppip, I'm going to edit his frame a bit but; does Hoppip have a tail?

Also, when using 'create faces' in Metasequoia, is there anyway to make polygons other than 3-sided?
>> dannifood4less
>>67861
that being said, yes i may not know too much about extracting models and
making them into useable papercraft, but i would like to know how its done, it by no means makes me a noob, ive built many papercrafts in the past, and i am a decent artist. anyways, i enjoy papercraft, and i just wish there were more good quality one like the one your making. THATS why i want to learn.
>> Pixel-Kakashi
>>67919
OK, then I have only one thing to ask you before we start, learn to use any 3D modeling program you want, like Wings3D or Metasequoia, I recommend those 'cause they are free and easy to learn, once you learn to use the program, e-mail me or post in one of my threads.
>> MySQL Connection Failure's Number1 Fan
>>67861
Speaking of being taught, I'm the fag you told about Deep Exploration in the other thread, you know the guy who didn't feel like looking through 2,000+ images for the specific tectures and such.
I guess I never did thank you for that, so thanks a lot. It came in real handy.

Now, I know that models need to be altered when directly ripped from a game, and believe me when I say I tried, oh boy did I try. I just ended up fucking the models I was testing everything with beyond belief.

Mostly because I couldn't figure out how to select a single line within SketchUp. For some reason when I import 3D models, I can only select specific parts, not what makes them up. And my guess would be that's because they have texture coordinates assigned to everything when ripped from the emulator.

But I digress, teach me your ways, oh great one - master of all that is pokemon papercrafts and the like.

P.S. I fucking love MySQL Connection Failure, she's the woman of my dreams.
>> Anonymous
>>67924
In sketchup you have to Explode the model. look through the menus you'll find it. remember to select the model first.
>> Anonymous
>>67931
So that's what that was for. Well, thanks very much, good sir.
>> Anonymous
>>67935
Well, that worked and I've already fixed (at least I think I have) some parts, but now I'm stuck where SketchUp won't let me make a new line. I'm trying to connect an endpoint to a specific part of the surface and everything goes smoothly until I click to finalize it, then the line just never shows up. Any ideas?
