speaker + paper = ?

this is my next project, paper speakers! i have no idea how this will work, probably it will be an origami box with a hole, but any ideas tell me! ill probably try to finish this tonight, so more pics to come!

aren't hollow materials not ideal for speakers?
I heard it creates resonance or something.

No, speakers need airspace to create noise, like a sub-box. If you play a speaker in open air without an enclosure, it has a high pitch crappy noise. If you tune a box to the right size and frequency, it sounds superb. (I used to do a lot of car audio installs)

If you can find the manufacturer's website it will tell you the optimum specs for that speaker. You'll need to create a stiff box, add cardboard to the corners and use either 110lb cardstock doubled up, or cardboard for the sides. Glue the seams tight to prevent air leaks too.

please if you are they guy who wanted to put a speaker inside the portal radio i started a week ago, take in count that i am still working on it!

no im not, well i tried one box, which failed, and i think i am going to make the speakers as compact as possible, so tuning it to the right frequency will probably be neglected.

Ya, really at that size you'll just need to ballpark the volume. You might try rolling paper cylinders and adding them as supports around the speaker so that it doesn't cave in the face while playing...

here is the finish product, it still needs to be reinforced in some areas, but its all origami! o and the sound quality is ok, i was more looking for a compact speaker.

ah, guess I had it backwards.
I never was good with sound.

thats a wicked concept the only thing is the paper probably rattles alot and you need a sealed insolated area for the best sound qualities. i think filling the inside with cotton balls would help
