Finally, I've finished the warbringer helm. It's taken forever due to resizing issues and working 2 jobs. I'm going to work on the chest next. Here are some pics of my resined helm.

I was going to use bondo, what else is out there that will give a smooth paintable finish?

This isn't made out of paper is it? You going to paint it afterwards? :o Cool.

You should sell these.

here is the link for the helmet. I added the material so everyone that doesn't paint can get the sand out of their vaginas. I sized it at 33 cm. I have a big head, so most will find it a perfect and comfortable size. I'm piecing the chest armor together now and I'll be applying another coat of resin to the outside of the helm as well as the inside.

Nvm, found out how

So I'm done assembling it, now I'm looking for a way to get it hard so I can wear it without being worried about it. Are you going to make more Helmets? :3

Cover the exterior with silicon

Seems like a good idea, I was thinking about spraying tons of layers of spraypaint glue on it, but I don't know about the results

WHOA WHOA WHOA....

make it simple. Use the technique that works. Just Fiberglass Resin. That's it. slap on 2 coats to the outside and one on the inside, it'll be good. I know some people use the fiberglass cloth with the resin, but that's ruin the sharp points and make it look like shit. After your done resining use primer spray paint first. I tend to go with Rustoleum

I know you've explained how you do this before, but could you spell it out to a brain-dead newbie like me. in return-worship you liek a god.

Okay, thanks. I'll do that :)

I can try. You can get the resin at your local hardware store, I go Bondo brand. These guys know their shit. I suggest you buy vinyl gloves as well. Resin comes in the metal container without a spout.(don't friggin understand why, it would be really helpful), and a small tube of hardener. You need to measure out an oz, pour it into a small tubberware container. I used a paper cup and the resin ate at it and it got messy. Count out 14 drops of hardener into the resin. This is proportional, so .5 oz= 7 drops. I would also buy popsicles for stirring. Stir like a mad man, get it mixed to use as soon as possible. There is a set time for this stuff. I maybe have worked fast, but somehow I was able to coat my helmet completely before it all hardened (barely). That's about it. Do be careful. Be sure you're in a ventilated area, like a garage with the large door open. Make sure you wear clothes that cover skin completely. This stuff got through my cotton PJ bottoms and fused small cotton fibers to my skin. This shit will give you irritation like no other. Eye protection is a must.

I really want the Cataclysm's Edge but there is two parts overlapping two pages? ...fix?

makeshift some tabs. the part where the line ends is where it will pickup again on the other piece of paper. make some tabs out of scraps. I'm working on the chest piece for the armor and I'm having to really improvise. Go ahead, you won't mess up the project at all.

Thank you very much I will keep your advice saved in a text file, but I actually meant how does one take the models from the computer and print them IRL. I really wanna get into /po/. I have free time loads of disposable income and an unhealthy obsession with wow.

I don't know what makeshift is... but here is a tutorial on how to make papercraft.

Step 1. get PepakuraDesigner. Buy it.

Step 2. Get World Of Warcraft Model Viewer: http://www.wowmodelviewer.org/

Step 3. Go to a store and buy Cardstock 110lb (Cardstock 200gsm)

Step 4. Be sure to pick up some paper friendly fluid glue, not stick glue!

Step 5. Run back home and hope that you have a pair of scissors at home.

Step 6. Start upp WoW Model Viewer and export the model you want, of course you'd have to have WoW installed!

Step 7. Make sure you can export the model extension .ms3d to .3ds

Step 8. Start up PepakuraDesigner and open the model

Step 9. Press "Unfold"

Step 10. Get your rage hat on, you're about to notice that you'll need to edit the model to make it build-able.

emphasis on step 10. For some reason, when I export, I end up with 3 copies of each item unfolded. Not sure why. A way to remedy this is to convert the texture that you extract to .jpg and apply it to one set. Then proceed to remove the blanks from the paper organizer. To get the display object on the left to show a solid material, apply the same texture to all slots in the texture configuration.

here is the chest piece, I'm thinking about cutting the back to fit inside and using velcro. I was also thinking of the possibility of using a plastic zipper. I'll wear a cape to cover it up. I have to cut the bottom, neck and arm holes. Despite the rework, it's coming along nicely, I honestly think that this entire costume will cost me under $100. I should have it ready by next years Blizzcon. I may terrorize an anime con in the meantime. Teir 4 up in this bitch!

dumbass here
do i need 3ds max to convert the .ms3d to a .3ds?
>> Anonymous
>>199889
I'd download milkshape 3d trial and convert it to .obj

the file will produce an .obj and a .png, convert the png to .jpg using ms paint

ok, I'm done with the chest piece....at least putting it together. I have some weir shapes to deal with. In the red, I'll be removing and I'm wondering about the area in green. I'm having trouble deciding to take out just the red or both colors. halp!

well, I had to try it on. I cut the up the center all the way. I realized the parts I was going to remove were very much needed, but the bottom of the armholes had to go. I need to reinstall some makeshift shapes to make it more body friendly. I'll insert some peper to seal the back with my dimensions in mind. I'll be cutting the lowest set of shapes off the armor, my belt and pants will go there, I will save it to make the belt however. I figure I'll cut the pants similar to the halo armor to keep it nice and versatile. When it comest to the feet, I'll work ankle up and maybe make a toe cap.

im considering doing this with halo armor, how well does just the resin hold up (ie no fiberglass cloth)?
>> Sheol
>>198586

well, I suggest you coat 2 on the outside and one on the inside. You can't go wrong. Go here,

http://www.youtube.com/user/abrant3

this guy is my role model ^_^ He gave me the confidence to work with fiberglass and resin.

PS, if you use the cloth ( it will make your armor pretty much rock solid) just do it on the inside, you don't need it however
>> Anonymous
I just got the word that wallpaper glue is transparent and makes all paper hard, but I have not tested this yet.

this guy said that after using just the resin it was too brittle and cracked. also the fiberglass looks like it makes it rock solid.

if you don't use enough hardener in the resin solution it won't cure correctly, too much and it will be brittle.
