No, speakers need airspace to create noise, like a sub-box. If you play a speaker in open air without an enclosure, it has a high pitch crappy noise. If you tune a box to the right size and frequency, it sounds superb. (I used to do a lot of car audio installs)
If you can find the manufacturer's website it will tell you the optimum specs for that speaker. You'll need to create a stiff box, add cardboard to the corners and use either 110lb cardstock doubled up, or cardboard for the sides. Glue the seams tight to prevent air leaks too.
