Well, you can't really get it for nothing, but you can get a crease pattern. (THE way to distibute origami for the origami l33+) The diagrams are in Origami Tanteidan convention book number... 9 IIRC

I did some searching around, and i tried doing the CP. But i don't have much experience making finished models from CP, so i kinda skipped it after failing 100 times and throwing several objects into the wall.

BUT, i found a site where you can buy a book with this diagram and other seriously mind blowing models: http://www.origamihouse.jp/book/original/kamiya/kamiya.html

If someone buys this and scans it, i think /po/ will be forever greatful. If noone has a scanner capable of scanning books, you can paypal me some money, and i'll order and scan it for great justice.

help with chocobo...please...-_-
or at least a translation

Anyone have any tips for 33-34 on the chocobo? I'm stuck with the open sink.
>> Gren
I'm baffled by what steps 13 % 14 want from me. I keep trying different things, but nothing I attempt makes it look anything vaguely similar to the flattened out version shown in step 19.

Seconded please! =^>.<^=

One note about the Chocobo is that after step 18, the model will never be truly flat until after step 46. So keep this in mind.

With steps 13 and 14, you're basically just folding the paper in to make a T shape with that part of the paper. Take a look at http://spinflipper.com/origami/cp/interm.html for some pictures of that part.
>> oker1
>>18267
it's a sink fold
>> oker1
>>18363
and you cant flatten it out till step 22 i think
at least mine wouldnt let it :)

Approximately what size paper do you use?

I tried with heavy printer paper about 8cm square. I don't think the claws would have been doable because of the paper becoming too thick and small.

I'm working with 9 5/8" origami paper, and I'm still having throuble getting edges to look crisp. I tried it with printer paper, and actually manages to SPLIT it on a fold. D :

Chocobo legs are appropriately sturdy.

Also, I am vexed by how to open the wing up in step 47 so I can continue with said leg.

Just saying Sink fold isn't going to help us origami newbies... what the heck does that mean?

can someone also tell me how to make reply links? so that people know what i was complaining about when I was complaining about the sink fold post.

I'm stuck on steps 33-37... can someone explain this in words or provide a translation?
>> Gren
>>18409
A sink fold is pretty much where you take paper, make the appropriate creases, and then it is able to collapse in on itself. If you had a 3 inch tall peak, and you creased the top inch of it and then made a sink fold, you would now have a 2 inch peak with a flat top, and a 1 inch dip on this inside.

It's not the same as just folding something in, because a sink fold is also designed t come back up again. The classic paper crane where you make the bend between the neck and the head is like a crusd esink fold.

To make a pot reply, just click on the number of the post and it will appear in your text feild. The number is found at the top of the past, next to the poster's name and date

Thank you, i managed to get to step 33, but now I don't understand what it's trying to do, Fold in and out? and somehow miraculously it seperates in Step 39?
>> Anonymous
>>18454
I haven't completed a whole chocobo yet (I'm stuck on 43. Does the arrow mean fold in half?) but

steps 38/39 doesn't separate. Underneath step 39 it says sink fold. Crease along the line in 38, and then look at 41 for a diagram of what you're trying to acheive. You want an in/out/in/out set of triangles.

No i don't get what 33 /34 is doing... Fold then unfold?... That makes it exremely hard to do the (ithink) sink fold in step 36, i don't understand where to fold the part that sticks out (step 36) and step 37 i just see a bunch of lines and an arrow pointing to itself and i'm not sure what that's upposed to mean.
>> Anonymous
Sorry for the double post but there doesn't seem to be an edit button... , If you say step 38 is another sink fold, how come there isn't another part sticking out like the sink fold in 36? If step 38 is just the sink fold how come img 39 is there? It appears to me it's an arrow pointing to the sink fold made on 38

Attached is a picture of what i've done. I know it's blurry but it was the best i could do.

Regarding the lack of a part sticking out, I fudged with it and created a new crease (if i followed the creases that were already there, i had a part sticking out).

I think 39 is the actual sink fold, and 38 is there to make you pre-crease it.

I.... did the same thing. v_v Hate extra flap.

Made in caps not for rudeness, but because it's a common problem and I want first timers skimming the thread to notice it before making a post.

IN STEPS 33-34 YOU ARE MAKING CREAS#ES IN THE PAPER THAT WILL LATER BE USED IN A SEQUENCE OF SINK FOLDS
ALL FOUR OF THE PROTRUDING FLAPS WILL NEED TO RECEIVE THESE SAME CREASES.

ONCE ALL CREASES ARE MADE, THEY WILL BE FODED INTO A SINGLE SHAPE THAT ZIGS AND SAGS BACK AND FORTH, SHOWN IN VERY SLIM PROFILE IN STEP 41 AND IN>>18472

Again, no impoliteness intended. <3
>> Anonymous
>>18484
So what do you do with that extra flap then?
>> Anonymous
>>18555

sorry about that... 4 chan really does need an edit button, Anyway, please don't say it's already been addressed, i was hopeing for a 2nd opinion from gren

>>18556

oh, you mean you mean you sink fold The inverse triangle that comes out of the sink fold...?

>>18459
Can anyone offer advice on step 43?

This is what I'm confused with:
In step 42 you have two feet sticking straight up. After you do 42, you have one foot sticking to the left as shown in step 43. To me, the arrow in 43 means fold the model in half.

If I did that, I would have one foot sticking to the right, but step 44 does not show this; step 44 still has something sticking to the left.
