/po/ doesn't have an übercool wearable helmet for you though.

Not too far from done, just in need of some minor clean up, scaling and, you know, COLOR, but I made this:

http://rapidshare.com/files/104479351/Optimus_Prime.pdo.html

Currently scaled to 4 or 5 inches, modeled after the 20th Anniversary figure with some alterations for paper form (thickened ear antenna things) with separate face and mouth plate bits for individual sizing. Feedback on improvements aside from what I mentioned would be greatly appreciated.

I'll do some more work on the PDO eventually, enjoy.

Like make the rest of him?

I was only thinking about finishing the helmet, but a large scale Optimus scaled to the file I already did would be badass. But it'd also be 30 inches tall. Any smaller and the detail would be impossible, at which point you'd be better off just scaling up one of the existing ones.

If enough people care I might do the body, but I don't realistically expect anyone to actually complete it.

The helmet? I've screwed around with it more and I think I have it at the right scale to be wearable, but a lot of the pieces can no longer fit on a single sheet.

Should I just continue under the pretense that the one assembling this will use the printed pieces as a template for cutting out something else, like cardboard, instead of as the actual building material?

Alrighty, I think this is it, I can't imagine doing much more work on it.

You will NOT be able to assemble what prints out. You will HAVE TO use it as a template for a different material. It's just too big, and that's a lot of blue ink, anyway. There are some notes on the "unused" sheet in the PDO regarding the build-up and some flipped faces. I'm out of ink so I can't do a build-up myself, but I'd love to see what anyone else does with it, if anything.

And if printing it out letter-sized makes it too small, remember that the battle plate can be shifted around a bit for sizing, and the face only attaches at the sides and not the brow, so that can be slid up or down too.

Ignore the few overlapping tabs and enjoy.

print it on blue and gray cardstock or paint it.

I didn't chop up the model too much because I wanted structural integrity and for any flat surfaces to be unbroken, but I doubt anyone in /po/ gave enough of a fuck to bother with it, so thanks. This one might actually get built.
