I've downloaded so many of them I loose track... ;)
I mainly use 3D Object Converter, milkshape, 3D photobrowser, & metaseq more than any think else. I've got a few half-life viewers, utx browsers, etc, but a full version of milkshape will cover most of the formats you'll find...

You're right, this shouldn't be THAT hard... IF you make it simple
( pic shows Deck16 from Unreal1, it's an Unreal map, that's why the UT version is called "Deck16][" )

I prefer the Unreal version, look for yourself, left is unreal, right is UT, I prefer the Unreal textures.

Anyway, I don't think loading this map in some kind of model editor is what we want. I guess you have to rebuild this map by sketch... all we want is a model that RESEMBLES the map
