I'm confused how do you use a stencil?
Is it for spray painting or what?
Do I cut off the white part?

In return have gasmask stencil..

spray paint, screen printing, you could brush it. Cut out the black part and leave the white

You're in luck my friend.

stenciling 101

1. Print it out on some good quality paper, the thicker the better, I use cartridge paper you can buy it at any gd art store for a resonable price.

2. With a craft knife carefully cut out the black bits, dont use sissors they are almost usless.

3.Get some masking tape and tape it to what ever you want to sencil on around all the edges.

4. Get a can of spray paint, make sure you spray in a well ventelated area, if your doing some heavy spraying then something to cover your mouth and eyes is a must (you can get them cheap at a DIY store.)

5.Anything will do really, experiment a bit, Car paint works well, its expensive though.

6. when you are spraying make sure not to hold the can too close too the stencil, about 10-12 cm away is ok, make sure you cover it nice and evenly.

The /po/ nazis will hate this stencil thread but here's my stencil protip: laminate the paper before you cut out the black areas. WIll make the stencil sturdier and it will last longer.

Woah. How does one go about getting a stencil lasercut into metal and how much does this cost?

Are you kidding? This is the kind of thread that stencillers needed.

1) Did not start with a "MAKE THIS STENCIL FOR ME NOW!" statement.
2) Did not get bumped like crazy with no stencil or stencil tips given.

It still doesn't belong here, but at least this one is helpful.

Another cool tip... If you stencil things on freezer paper dull side up, you can iron it onto a shirt dull side up and it'll stick to the shirt. Then you can just get some fabric paint and go over the stencil. You can make your own shirts. It's a really handy thing, stenciling.

I get mine done at university its free (its not using any materials as such just electrcity.) You just have to provide your own material too cut out of.

You make an outline drawning in corel draw but dont fill in any of the shapes...then i just give the file and materials to the guys aaaaaand hour later its done.

if your not stenciling on your own property:
rule number 1: don't get caught
other than that, its up to you, however as a general rule of thumb, don't stencil on private properly, or anywhere it will be a total eyesore

i feel i should jump in for my 2 cents
always and i mean always, carry a plastic bag and atleast one disposable glove on you when stancilling in public, the first is to put your stencil in after you used it (if you want to re use it) coz you dont want to be walking down the street waving it around so it drys and secondly you dont want it sticking to your back pack or leaving paint on everything (have ruined two jackets with wet paint) and the gloves so you dont get paint on your hands dumbass, i have a bit of decentcy when it come to painting stuff, as a rule anything that is commercially or publicly owned is fair game too me, bus stops, telephone boxes, bridges, its all good... dont forget to bust up some stickers near where you bomb'd your stencils to let em know whos boss, dont put one up in a really sweet spot unless its good enough to go there, you'll only hate it everytime you walk past other wise, and lastly dont forget to GO BIG!!!
