In the picture, what does the curved marking with two arrows on the right mean?

I've been over several pages on diagram notation and can't find it. Apparently the dotted line means an x-ray line? Maybe related, but I also can't find an accurate reference point to fold the mountain fold.

I've made this diagram but it turned out very sloppy and I think this step is where I'm losing it.

It is trying to show you are folding it behind (mountain). The upper dotted line is a valley fold and the lower one is a mountain. It's doing them both at once.

Is there any way to line up the mountain fold that I'm not seeing other than eyeballing it through that crease on the right center?

The horizontal crease you made in step one (that the arrow is pointing to) lines up parallel to the bottom of the triangle. That's what the other dotted line is supposed to be.

Force the folds at the end, they don't work nicely, but it should look fine. I ended up with the back being more spread apart than what the diagrams show, but that can be changed when you are done. I thought it looked worse closer together though.

I think I'm going to shelve this for now. I made my third one and it's not bad but it still lacks the perfection that would satisfy me.

I made these in order from left to right, but you can see even on the blue one the corners are stressed because the folds aren't lining up properly. I finally got the fold-under part of the triangle to line up on my third try but BLEAH.

It would be a nice one to give away if I could get it "perfect."

I failed at getting this together at all... something near the end just didn't click for me.

As far as the one mountain fold goes ... I just folded the line between the outside corner to the center. Perhaps herein lies my problem.
