Ripped Raz model; anyone wanna fix it up for papercrafting? metroidprimegmr
Dearest /po/:

Recently I ripped the Raz model file from Psychonauts in hopes of making a papercraft of it; however, recent circumstances (stupid college) have required me to discontinue this endevour.

I'm uploading a 485kb .zip file to Rapidshare with several contents:
- Raz's texture images (dds format)
- 3DS MAX version of the model (3ds format)
- WaveFront version of the model (obj format)
- WaveFront Materials file (mtl format)
- Blender version of the model (blend format)

Right now, the model clocks in at 1546 faces. I know I asked this a while back, but if somebody wants to take a stab at this, feel free to do so.

Please... do it for the exploding squirrels.

Combining faces is only a matter of softening/smoothing edges in SketchUp, right? Then this shouldn't take too long.

Of course, I know nothing about SketchUp, so don't hold your breath.

there is a polyreduce plugin you can use too

Well, link me, then.

(To Google Nazis: I Googled it, found the SketchUp Forums, but I'm too lazy to join, so ha.)

I wouldn't know, either; I've been using Blender.
The problem is, the model's not one large mesh; it's actually 10+ meshes mashed together (hehheh... mesh-mash...) For example, the arms aren't connected to the torso, even though they're parts of the same mesh; the arms are just stuck on the side. Quite a few parts have overlapping faces.

This is an exploded view I cobbled together of the different parts.

Move the parts as close as you can into alignment, View Vertexes, click 2 vertexes near each other, CTRL+M, To Last, repeat.

That will merge the parts together into a single mesh in Blender.

Thanks. Is there a blender equivalent to the "cut" function from Autodesk Inventor?

I've finished connecting the feet the legs, as well as fixing up the leg-torso joints; now I'm going to work on the arms and hands, and after that, start cleaning up the torso.

Also, in Blender, is it possible to cut a mesh face using another mesh face as a cutting plane?
I'm asking because I need to cut the stuff outlined green in the pic, but I need to cut where the face mesh and the helmet mesh intersect (as indicated by the red lines I drew in Paint)

Note: use full view on the pic to see what I'm talking about.

Anyone?

if you have 3ds max, try pro-boolean.

I wish I could help, but I wish you luck. I love Psychonauts and seeing some papercraft from it would be fantastic.

at the current rate I'm working on this, the model should be done in a week or so.

However, I don't have the full version of Pepakura Designer, so unless someone who doesn't use it anymore is willing to lend me their license key via email, I can't save the model...

...WHAT??? I'm a poor college student!!!
