Been out for a few days, resting from work. Built the Lunatika Marisa because she fits in with Halloween.

Are there any other models out there that would be good for Halloween that AREN'T pumpkins? preferrably anime-related.

...by the way, braiding paper hair sucks, especially when you don't know how to braid in the first place.

Great job. Been planing to make this since when. What's the finished size?
>> dai
well, the model sitting right there stands exactly 5 and 3/4 inches tall with the stand. She was printed on 8.5x11 paper.

I'm assuming she was INTENDED to be printed on something closer to 11x17, since it took forever to align the double-sided pdf files so they'd print correctly on standard letter paper.

If you can print her out correctly on that size, given the ratio of letter to tabloid, (it's about 129.5% larger), I'd say the original intended size would be around 7 and 1/2 inches.

Well, my printer won't be able to handle 11x17, so I'll have to settle for the letter size. Thanks.

just be prepared for some aggrivating bits and pieces. Some of it is kind of hard to fit together as you follow the directions.

I think the most trouble I had was attaching her at the waist when I was finished- her right arm, which should reach just past the skirt and touch the broom, was angled too far down and just pushed at the skirt. I had to carefully bend her shoulder underneath her jacket...hood...thing, so that I could at least bend her forward enough to reach the broom.

speaking of the broom, find a thin barbecue skewer to keep it straight, I nearly tore it in half when I was trying to get her positioned right.

2nd'ing anime-ish Halloween characters...

I'm currently building Pumpkin Musume (image) which is here: http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~terrasse/ and I have "witch on broom" from a Pikapyon archive (/rs/) which looks like a pain to build. I also have 3 versions of Marisa. Anything else out there?

good advice on the broom. will keep it in mind. thanks.

wait, if a 11x17 page is the same size as 2 8.5x11 pages, then how come it's only 130% more? it's twice the paper so it would be 200% right?

Printed it on A4 paper. When aligning the back and front pages in pdf only my printer fucked up a bit. I got a better printer now but the mistakes are unseen now thanks to the great design.
I'm European so I wouldn't know about your inches but the model has some tiny pieces. Difficult at the time but nothing compared to the origional size wall-e I'm making now.
I would suggest to not glue the arms, waist and broom until you finished the whole piece. My model is finished but the stand does not work cause of the position of the broom. Had to make a custom one.
Also, the left hand as shown in>>190581
is supposed to grip the brim of the hat. I believe it is a mistake in the model itself since mine holds on to the middle of the hat as well.
The inside of my broom consist of a large paperclip bent straight. Now you can hold the model at the broom tip without any worry for damage to the model.

Good luck building it, it's worth it

Can you post the Lunatika Marisa maybe please?

yeah, I also suggest leaving all of the pieces separate until the very end.

as for size, 1 in = 2.54 cm, so the model I build is about 14.6 cm tall

here's the file- http://www.mediafire.com/?dmne30nmmmz

about the paper sizes- twice the surface area isn't twice the size- it's just twice the width. It would take FOUR pages to make 200% scale. ;D

dai and Survivor, thank you and thank you. I'm copy and pasting your advice onto a text file and including it in my Marisa folder for when I build it.

pertaining to the left hand issue (I saw the misplaced post when it went up a little bit ago).

there's actually a grey square on the cuff of the shirt and the top of the hat brim, indicating they are to be glued together. It's supposed to be that way ;D

Forgot to repost it here after I deleted the misplaced one. Anyway, pic from Lunatica shows the hand should be where you have it.

I honestly second the request of halloween-anime related papercraft...that aren´t pumpkins of course...

>but the model has some tiny pieces

Do you think i should use cardstock? i have 110 lb 199 g/m2
>> Anonymous
>>190937
not op but for a model like this definitely.
Although I would use 67 lb instead of 110. But if that's all you have it's fine.
I only use 110 lb for huge projects or something I want to make sturdy.
>> Survivor
Personally I used 120 g/m2. It's what I always use. There ain't no problem with my model, it's sturdy like a house. If you print it on A4 paper and reinforce the broom maybe you could even go down to 100. The tiny parts make sure the model is strong enough.

And sorry about the hand. I saw a digital of the model with her hand on the brim. You're right.
