Zelda's the King of Red Lions Anonymous
I wanted to finish this papercraft before my summer vacation would be over, and here it is (just in the nick of time, too): the King of Red Lions, from the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

It comes on a whopping 16 pages! I had to make it this big, though, or else the head would've been impossible to build...

The mast on my build is strong enough to hold the sail, but if yours isn't, it might help to print the sail on regular paper. I also made a stand, which you can also download of course.

I had to reorganize my website (remove the pictures of the finished models, substituting the ZIP-files by SITX-files (*much* better for compressing jpeg-files), because I ran out of my free webspace... So if you find any broken links now, just let me know so I can fix it.

Where do you get the models to convert into paper craft?
>> Anonymous
thats just frikkin amazing
>> Anonymous
Holy shit, 16 pages. This thing is gonig to be huge, isnt it?
>> Anonymous
Yes.

The green mast is about 44.5 cm (or 17.5 inches) tall. But if you'd want, you could just print the first 3 pages and make a 14 cm (5.5 inch) "bust" of King's head. It *is* the most difficult part of the boat, though, the boat itself isn't reaaly that difficult, it's just big... ;o)
>> Anonymous
Oh well, it'll be neat to see my friend's reations on the size of it as most of my papercrafts are pretty small.
>> Anonymous
Now we need a Wind Waker Link to sail it
>> Anonymous
I might be able to make a link for this :D (I has a WW link model on my computer)

I hereby /r/ that WW Link

You are a god among men. e.e

Those are from http://chokipeta.jp/C00_G2_01.htm, and were released as a present in the japanese GameCube magazine "Dengeki" (all we get in our magazines are "posters", and 99.9% of the time not very good ones either...).
The whole papercraft community worldwide is waiting for someone to find them and scan them, as has been done with the Four Swords Link that originates from this same site.

When I released my first Zelda model, I received a lot of enthustiastic reactions, some of which were about how one would go about designing their own models. I directed these people to the Pepakura site and http://www.ericksmodels.com/paper/step0.html, and most of the time I didn't hear from them again.
But one that looked very promising was from a person that is working in the games industry; the picture I attached is his. Looks familiar? ;o)

I didn't hear from him anymore either, though, and I didn't save his e-mail... So I don't know wether he's still working on it or wether he gave up. His last e-mail was about finding "papercraft designing harder than expected"...

I'm not going to do it myself (not now anyway), since I don't have time anymore. School starts coming monday, and making a papercraft takes A LOT of time: multiply the time it takes to build it by 20 and I'd imagine you have a good estimate of the time it took to design it.

well you've done enough to make such awsome king of red lions, and at least its nice to know that some one might be working on it . anyways thanks for the info .

If only we knew ;o)
There are a lot more (more Zelda and a lot more Pokémon papercrafts) so they were most probably all in different issues (would you buy the next issue if this one had 50 papercrafts in it and the next one had none?)

I have over 1.5gig of papercraft models that i would be willing to trade for any legend of zelda 3d models

There's bound to be a lot of papercrafts that I already have, and a lot of papercrafts that I don't care to have.

Please post a list of the papercrafts you have so I can see if it's worth it.

I like mecha models, video game models, anime models, buildings, planes, trains, automobiles, science fiction, ships, animals... everything really, as long as it's well made (only thing I hate is ripped 3d game models that just have been passed through pepakura and that's it...)

^^

i will gladly share my collection with everyone just need to figure out a way to, i would be willing to ship a dvd to someone who would be able to create a torrent from it if nothing else. I have begun to rework those models in preperation for papercraft. The models look great however the way they were put together is not good for PC models, but that is not a big deal I have cleaned and reduced the polt count for the CHU CHU, and made a test build last night, which went pretty good, I have to make a few minor adjustments and create the coloring file and i will post the PDF here hopefully today sometime.

>>22381cretate a torrent with your 1.5 gigas

I'd hate having to keep my comp running over a week to download 1,5 GB of papercrafts and then discovering I don't really like 'em...

My mom would have me pay the electric bill for a whole year to teach me a lesson...
>> sad_panda
ok best way to go is gonna be create a toorent megaupoad and most things like that have a 50mb limit.

so i bring you torrent crafting 101...nod

so open utorrent(what i use and is super small file size and easy to use) goto flile>create new torrent. now open your browser and goto a torrent site such as demonoid.com(i like it only prob is they have limited user account, but with a lil googleing you can find a referral password) now click on upload torrent, copy paste those thracker to torrent in the designated box, while you in utorrent might as well add the directory where you keep all your papaer craft. then create your torrent.

next go back to your browser, add that handy torrent file you just made. now add a Description and name it, and your done.

if i forgot any thing some one on here can prolly awnser any question you might have.

so now you can share the wealth once you upload it id be glad to seed for a long time as i useually leave my computer on for days at a time...nod

Policy Enforcement (v2)

There's been a lot of confusion and disapproval about the "new rules", so I'd like to clear things up and revise the policy slightly. When you bump a thread in /b/, it takes longer for it to die. So if you bump a thread with illegal content, that illegal content stays on the board longer, and 4chan gets angry letters. Rather than relying on the moderators working around the clock on every board to delete things, we're asking for your help to make 4chan's system work.

To discourage participation in illegal threads, it's now against the rules to reply to a thread with illegal content. If you post in these threads, you will be banned for 2 weeks, regardless of whether you "contributed" to the thread or not. If you see a thread that breaks these rules, just report it and ignore it.

In addition, "Jailbait" threads, private forum/wiki invasions, and posting personal information are examples of things that aren't illegal but still open us to legal threats. We will not ban all replies to these threads, but we will delete them and issue bans to the thread starter or other major participants if necessary. The rules have not changed with regards to these borderline-legal threads.

Our goal is to keep 4chan fun and unrestrictive, so we hope that these common-sense rules won't be much of a burdan.

1+ MB jpegs don't seem to open properly...
And people use jpegs instead of bmps because they're (usually) so small... You can drastically reduce the size without loosing too much quality. Papercraft jpegs around 100 kB are just fine for printing.
>> Anonymous
>>22496
I just had a thought, I wonder if they are really jpgs and not some other format?

I haven't built it yet, but I predict I'm going to have some problems since I don't know exactly where the fold lines are, especially on the "feet".
Other than that (and the files being a bit large and I think the model could have easily been on three pages, maybe even 2), I think it's quite buildable!

MOST GLORIOUS WIN

Orginally the files were one PDF with all four pages at 350k however i could not get it to upload. The whole model doesn't require crease lines on it, there is only a need to score the connection flaps. I can send another one out with lines on it if you all would prefer that, the base is a bit tricky only because the "skirt" part around the bottom is really touchy, i am working on a more forgiving design. on that sorry about the 1mb files yall

I think you mean that you don't need to score the folds and that you can just "bend" the folds. I'm pretty sure you need to do some folding, but which way?
Sometimes it's pretty easy to figure out, but especially on the "feet", there are so many possibilities...

>>22517on that sorry about the 1mb files yall
Since you made a papercraft for us all to enjoy, we forgive you just this once. ;o)

Is this working better?
>> Anonymous
just place your thumb in the center of each foot piece and bend up slightly, so the foot piece has a rounded shape, you don't need to fold the feet pieces any because the skirt pushes them into position and the rest of the model is just circles, I will re do the feet and the skirt so it is more clear and a bit more forgiving so there are not white spaces at the bottom.
