You do know that you would have to seriously modify the models until you can make a usable papercraft?

If it uses DirectX9, maybe you can try 3D Ripper DX, I've had some good results with that.

lol

Use biturn from mirex (google it)
and his unmass tool to get the models from FF7 PC. after that u need to edit the models.

Does BiTurn extract them in a cool pose like 3DRipper DX, or in a crappy pose like they're stored in the gamedata?

Biturn does not extract ...

Unmass extracts the original gamedata (with bones and everything else)
Biturn converts the gamedata to known useable 3DDataformat, like LWO, 3DS, ASE and so on (in cool poses). But you are in need to edit the models.

There's not one master program that can extract the models for all games in existance: every game developer uses its own method of compressing the game data and storing it on the game disc.
3D Ripper DX can do it for a lot of games (that use directx9, but not all games use directx 9) and Biturn can do it for some games but not all games (there's a list at the website) and there's tons of programs that do it for tons of games. But not all games are interesting enough for some nerd to write a little program to extract the game models. So no: it doesn't work for all games.
You will need to use Google and find out if such a program exist for the game you want. You'll find many forums, with hundreds of posts about the subject. And the moment you think "screw this, I already read 700 posts and nothing!!" and you close the browserwindow for the forum, the link you're looking for will probably in post #701... You'll find the stuff you're looking for in the place you'll least expect when you're about to give up. At least, that's what life has tought me.

ok i used unmass. where does it extract them to?

it does not extract.
it converts 3d game data files to useable 3d data. The 3d game data is being extracted by unmass.

i did a bit of research, i had a hunch about this,, and heres what i dug up,, this is a list of programs that help for extracting some games data into useable 3d data.
Leviathan - Battle Models Viewer(final fantasy 7)
Biturn - Multi-platform 3D and Bitmaps converter.
Unmass - General File Extractor.

hope this helps, although the Leviathan program is cool, i cant use it yet, i believe i need the rom for final fantasy 7 to do this.

3d studio max doesn't import the 3dr file! Aparently a plugin is needed...
I've done my share of lurking but without results... Can someone help me??

What studio max? if it's 9 you're screwed...
I believe they only distributed that plugin until 8... For 9 it isn't made yet. I also needed it and had to get hold of version 7...

But does anyone have that plugin for 3d Studio max 9? Because it is higly relevant to our interests
