hello /p/ i am an avid papercrafter, and i would like to start creating some of my own models the only thing that's really holding me back is my lack of knowledge.

i am a macfag so i'm wondering if there are any resources
or tutorials that i should use and if you could recommend a decent 3D modeling program.

thanks!

Good 3D modeling programs:
Google Sketchup
Metasequoia

Papercraft designer:
Pepakura Designer

There is one other papercraft designer, though I can't remember the name, nor do I know if it works on mac or not. Pepakura Designer does NOT work on mac, so you're out of luck there.

Also I'm sure some others will be able to recommend you thHEY I HAVE THAT SAME DRINKING BIRD RIGHT BEHIND ME e other 3D modeling programs that I am forgetting.

I'm a Mac user too, and from what I know, your best choice is Cinema 4D, Blender or Google Sketchup (I'm not sure if Sketchup works on intel, but I doubt it...)
Conversion to papercraft will be done with Pepakura Designer through either VMWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop (Google both, I suggest VM though, that's what I use)
Keep in mind that all of the software mentioned above will only work on the new Intel Macs. If you're a PPCfag, you're fucked.

DON'T get SketchUp.

It's not decent.

There are plenty of other programs, fuck it's a mac, it's built for designing and modeling. Go to Apple's site > Downloads > 3D section.

Damn straight. I use CInema 4D and it has never failed me. I'm pretty sure you'll find a crack from the internet soon enough, but either way, C4D is the one you should get.
If you need any instructions or help whatsoever regarding the subject, be sure to e-mail me.
