/po/ I've been working on a loosely requested papercraft. I get to were it's Pepakura ready, then Pepakura takes lines out for "data normality." How do I fix this (in Metasequoia)?
>> Anonymous
Do you mean those red lines? That's got nothing to do with "data normality". I get that warning sometimes as well, but I haven't found any problems/changes because of that. It's something in the background, that doesn't really effect the shape of your model I think.
The red lines are probably because the polygons aren't connected properly. Did you hold down the CTRL-key when selecting vertices (points) in Metasequoia? If not, then you didn't properly select the points, and now there's a minute gap between the polygons...
You could/should fix it Metasequoia by re-doing the effected polygons until Pepakura doesn't give you any red lines anymore when you open it, but most people go for the quick fix: in the 3D model menu of Pepakura, there's an option Join Adjacent Isolated Edge. If you click it, often the red lines go away, sometimes not, and sometimes not all. It depends how much you messed up in Metasequoia. ;o)

Yes it does. The red lines are deleted joints. If i were to proceed I'd end up with those points not connected. I've tried redoing it and it only took one away.

Post your mqo on rapidshare or something and I'll have a look.

I'll never learn that way.

And I'll never find out what you're doing wrong by you just telling: what did I do wrong??!?!?! I need to see the model and then MAYBE I can find out and help you. I won't steal your model you crazy paranoid...

I'm not paranoid. All the faces are connected, I checked about fifty times with the lighting and re did half the damn model.

>>74206
If you really want help, you really need to post the model...
You're basically saying:
"I made a model. It's fucked up. What's wrong?"
How are we supposed to find out?
>> Anonymous
>>74206
My guess is you only think the faces are connected; it's not visible with the naked eye in Metasequoia if they're not...

I already redid the marked ones and it still didn't fix it.

>>74210
Oooook, you were right. I was connecting disconnected ones to each other.

*Sigh* maybe you re-did them making the same mistake...
Did you delete ALL the marked parts at once, including ALL the (sur)faces adjacent to those? And then did you hold down the CTRL-key while creating new (sur)faces?
If you only deleted them one at a time, then re-made another (sur)face, you would have been selecting the cornerpoints of bad polygons, and that won't do any good of course...
You keep claiming "I already did that!" but we can only give you the obvious solution... If it's something else we don't know because you're not giving enough info. And you can't unless you let us see the model itself... It's the best way to get help, we won't fix the model for you, if we can figure out what's wrong we will tell YOU how to fix it so you can learn. /po/'s a nice board, remember? We want to help but we can't really...

Alright, that was my guess too. ;o)
Glad you worked it out, I hope you won't encounter any big problems in Pepakura; it's mostly a matter of just clicking all the buttons once to see what they do, and then using your head to make a buildable papercraft. ;o)

Sorry about my stubbornness.

Yeah well, /po/eple are still just people. ;o)
Luckily you were able to figure it out.
