This is my first time in /po/, so please don't e-murder me for posting this.

I found this Pyramid Head fold-up the other day. Can anyone tell me what the two bars between the arms and torso are supposed to me? Do they go on the back folded into a rectangle, or what?

"To BE," not "to me."

See that "zipper" on the back?
The two little "x"'s beside it?
You fold down the part marked "x" on the two little bars/strips you're talking about double, and glue it to the "x"'s on the body.
They're just some straps of some sort, nobody really knows/understands. ;)

OK, so they're apron straps then? Makes sense to me. Thanks!

Does anyone have a picture of this assembled?

Just Pleat the bottom part of his head in this model and coordinate it into that form.
the illusion dies when you look under it, but it does anyways... might as well beef it up.

"They're just some straps of some sort, nobody really knows/understands. ;)"

They're gusset straps. Many aprons and dresses have them, they are intended to be tied to cinch in the gown/apron/dress for a better fit on the body - usually to keep an expanse of fabric billowing in front of the user.

lol dunno if they're "gusset straps" (to keep an expanse of fabric billowing in front of the user? at the shoulders? I think I know what you mean but I've only seen them at the waist since usually you don't have that problem at the shoulders since usually the sleeves come seperate and the "connection" is made in such a way that it just fits properly)
But anyhoo: we were talking about the papercraft; it doesn't need gusset straps. Could've just been textures if he really wanted them on. It's one of those details that doesn't really make the papercraft more awesome, but only confuses people. And if it doesn't help your papercraft, it's better to leave it off. Goes for all detailing.

heh, thats what i endd up doing.
going to try it with chamoo's model next.

i like the straps, since his back is more exposed than his front that extra detail is nice.

You didn't even KNOW they were straps until /po/eple told you... ;)
That's what I meant, I should have phrased it differently:
If it doesn't give any problems, and if it looks nice, then it's perfect!
If it looks nice, but people don't know what the hell they're supposed to be (so easily solved by providing a/some finished picture for your model, btw; more designers should (test)build their own models and take pictures ;) then it's only half perfect. ;)
It's nice to have a little extra detail to break up a big(ger) surface, but you can achieve that same goal by putting the detail on the texture instead of an extra 3D part.
But on this one, the extra parts just to create some extra detail aren't very hard (once you know what it is supposed to be).

um , im not OP. I thought it was pretty obvious what they were, seeing as how theyre marked with X's. its not like you could mess up attaching them.

Sure, your word is proof enough for 4Chan. ;)
I'll teach you this only once, so pay attention pls: even if you provide seemingly absolute proof, anonymous will still doubt any claim you make. ;)

You're very right, the straps are simple to fold, and simple to glue on.
There's also a way not to have those straps. There really is. Less work (only like 2 seconds less) no confusion. Better? Some people will think it is, others will think not. Which group is wrong? None of them.
