my first cross stitch. you like?
i love how pixelly this art is. my index really finger really hurts from needlepoking though.

Very good. Did you use 14 count or 16 count Aida?
Hard to tell from the image. 14 count is the standard.

Well, thats an interesting thing. you see, i found a needle and some thread and some white gridded fabric stuff, and i proceded to stitch little x's into it. does that answer your question?

tl;dr: huh?

Hello I'd like to have a word with you

Welcome to a new passion (so many things, so little time!). It looks really good - wouldn't know it was a first attempt if you hadn't said. If you have to shove the needle thro' then it's too big. If you use a thinner needle it will be easier.

how do i do that? are there anything more things games/ computers/ anime, related?
>> Anonymous
Go to a video game sprites site. Download a sprite of your favorite video game character. Enlarge in an art program so you can easily see the individual pixels. Find thread to match each color. Go crazy.

Cross stitching is actually really fun to do while watching tv and chilling out. But I never thought of pixel art! I want princess from Mario 2.

Goddamnit, /po/, what have you done to me?

I'm a straight man with a beautiful girlfriend and I just turned thirty. I have a job I like and I'm thinking about buying a home. I vote, I pay taxes, I volunteer at the Senior Center. I'm a frickkin adult.

So why do threads like these make me feel like a giggly six-year-old Japanese girl?
>> GoblinGuy
I remember giving up cross-stitching because I don't have enough talent to make my own and the kits were 15 dollars per pack. Yours looks awesome, makes me want to start again.

Never done this before but it looks interesting. You did a good job. I should google up some information, I might want to try this...

Does anyone know where to find free anime cross stitch patterns?

http://littlemojo.110mb.com/ has some.
Try googling "cross stitch anime" - the link shown was the first of many.
>>159068There are loads of free patterns on the internet (eg http://lagattac.blogspot.com/ ), cottons are cheap (and you can build up a stash gradually - tell me about it!) and craft shops shops will sell small squares of fabric at a reasonable price.
There are a few sites that let you convert a picture of your own into a pattern - try google for "cross stitch generator".

Couple random Cave Story sprites I did a while ago. Scanned because my camera kinda sucks.

Cross stitch is pixel art on fabric. So if you search online for any sort of pixel art you like and enhance it to see the pixels better, viola! Cross stitch pattern!

Exactly. I just took those sprites straight from the game, and put them exactly as-is onto fabric. Worked nice.

Something else that's similar is plastic canvas - it uses a larger, rigid plastic grid as the craft substrate and uses yarn instead of thread.

I like it because you can make 3D things, like a combination of cross stitch and papercraft!

Pics are of crappy stuff I made. The black mage is from a sprite, while the tank is just a simple model I made.

Can you tell us more about plastic canvas cross-stitch? Do you glue the pieces together or stitch em together?

159328 is right - I stitched the tank parts together. I didn't copy down the plans, as I wasn't sure if it was actually going to go together right, but it was all really simple shapes. You should be able to do it with any relatively simple papercraft plans - ceiling cat might work well?

o_O That's crazy, Slainna!

Reminds me of when I used to take pictures and try to recreate them pixel by pixel in Mario Paint, and then later in Animal Crossing Wild World... except it's a lot more satisfying to have a permanent recreation.
