Hey /po/, I'm planning to start this dragon soon.

I think my folder is missing some stuff. I seem to only have A4 versions of the dragon, when i only have letter sized cardstock. I can convert it to letter sized, but in order to keep the size the same, the arrangements of the pieces would be mixed up and confusing.

Also, i know many of you have already constructed this dragon, so could i possibly have some reference pictures? Also, tips and troubles you encountered while making the dragon , would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you just let pepakura scale it to letter size it works fine and everything prints dandy.

I started my second one of this last night, except this one I'm building inside out so it doesn't have the lines on it. Would anyone by chance know if I can mirror the printouts in pepakura so I can print the stand inverted to fit the backwards dragon while keeping the color outside?

Also, as for advice to OP, the head will be the hardest part, I'd say build the upper and lower jaws first and join them so you aren't having to try and assemble them later with no room to hold the glue together- basically start at the nose and work back and down to the neck.

If you can open it in Designer...

If only it were that easy.

See bug to exploit in another front-page thread...

Interesting, except when I click the button to let it open in viewer, it opens it in the viewer. So it doesn't work.

1) Go to the folder viewer is in.
2) Temporarily rename or move Viewer.
3) Try to open the dragon's base in Designer. When Designer looks for viewer, it can't find it, and you can exploit the bug.
4) Either put Viewer back, or move it elsewhere and update your windows shortcuts -- it can work from any folder as long as all the parts are there.
5) ?
6) Profit.

Been trying various variants of this since my previous post. All I've managed to do is make it pop back up in designer again and ask me to open in viewer again, and it just loops like that until I say no.

Might it have something to do with it being a read-only file instead of a locked or passworded one, or is that the same thing according to this software?

What is the name of the file(s) you need flipped? I'll flip them.

When you try to have it open in Viewer and it can't find it, you hit cancel right then and there, and it opens in Designer. Are you using Designer 2.0? If you have the old one... get 2.0.

I don't get a cancel option at any time. It tells me I need to open it in viewer and gives me a yes or a no, I click yes and it loops back to try and open in designer again, I click no and it closes.

Anyway the file I need flipper is the 07 hasira one in here: http://files.filefront.com/20041111200922+02zip/;9161329;/fileinfo.html

I have work now, so I'll be gone for 5 hours.

*opens Designer*
*Open, 07 Hasira, yes, open it in Viewer, Viewer not found, pick location of viewer... no! Cancel! Some fonts not found.... file opens.
*flips file*
Uploading in a minute.

here is a pic of mine. My next one will be inside out as well.

Very nice, even with the lines. Hope the flipped stand comes in handy, then.
>> To sage or not to sage... that is the question. !!u7H15vJR6mX
I feel sorta silly. Since you're trying to take the lines off the dragon...

... I should take the lines off the stand.

OP here

thanks for all the help

this is going to be my frist dragon, so i'm most likely going to make the dragon with lines.

The dragon seems complicated. Should i use printer paper or 110lb cardstock? What is the estimated time for completion?

(assuming i have a life/homework) Maybe 2-3 hours weekdays and 4-5 hours weekends.

You can change the line visibility in the printouts that the viewer puts out, so it's not really necessary to make a different set of files without them.

And to the OP, I built that head I showed in the picture under yours in about 3 hours. Keeping in mind I've already built it once so I knew pretty well what I was doing. I'd say you could do it in 4 or 5 hours easy. The rest of the sections are quite simple in comparison, maybe 30-40 minutes each, assuming you take it slow and cut and glue them very neatly.

Meh. I started this long ago. I printed everything and all, then made the stand, started the face, and immediately quit. What a waste of my poor paper =(

It's not that hard to figure out, the problem is that it's a bitch to build. I just said "screw this shit, this is not fun."

okay, okay that's good>>106098

Well i converted it to lettersized, and began to rearrange the pieces myself. Oh well, I guess the manual way works too

one final, last, most likely the most stupidest question...

what do those red stars on the template mean? it has something to od with those red lines in the designer...but i can't quite pick up what.

Starting the dragon sometime this following week. Right after i finish this damn ice cream.

Original dragon in that download, unflipped.
I took the stand from that and flipped it to make the stands later in the thread.
