I'm wanting to do a Ninetails papercraft, but cant find any templates. I wanted to have it based on the model from Pokemon Stadium, only problem is, I cant figure out how to rip it! Can anyone help me? Either by telling me what to do, or getting the model in a .obj format?

pic...kinda related?

Yeah, I posted a topic like this a little bit ago, requesting a Totodile either model or template, and this is the advice I got:
There is no ripped model of that Pokemon. You should look up ripping DirectX9/OpenGL stuffs. Well, if you do somehow manage to rip the models, wanna rip Totodile for me?

(before you say "Why don't you listen to your own advice," my shitty graphics card can't support DX9, and OpenGL runs oddly.)

Google 'rip models from roms' or something like that.

Only giving out my common sense, I'm praying it'll be helpful, never been on the subject.

bump for Tutorials, I used the NEMU64 plugin but the textures werent there, OR do I have to make'em manually??? NOT OP , btw

The only folks that I know that do this are Ninjatoes and Pixel Kakashi.

We've never had a ripping tutorial here... unless one of them wants to write one, your best bet, as everyone keeps saying, is to keep at it on Google.

Can anyone email PK or Ninjatoes asking them, then?

Google yields nothing.

Ok. Well I did tried to make a ninetails, but the problem with the model are the tails, since they are objects completely apart from the body, they overlap, and I've being to busy with school, (and I'm too lazy to do it) like for fixing it.

As for a tutorial, well, it's not very complicated, I'll explain how I do it:

First you need to create a new folder on drive c: called VRML.

I use 1964 (the emulator) with the Lemd3d8.dll plug in (I think thats its name), you load the game, and when it reaches the point you want to rip you pause it, with the emulator's controls, then you go to plug in options and check the mark "Export frames" or something like that, then click accept and un-pause the game for a second, now you can close the emulator.

Look inside the VRML folder to find an output.wrl file, along with the textures.

Now you need deep exploration to open the .wrl file and convert it to a format you can use, like .3ds or .obj, so you choose save as and then you save it.

Thats all for model ripping, I will not explain how to fix the model or textures, cause that's different for each modeling program.

You DO need to fix the model first, don't try to load it into pepakura directly 'cause it won't be buidable.

So, good luck with those models.

Got all that to work, but my model comes up with no textures in Deep Exploration, not sure what to do at this point.

So far I rip this, I've tried different, but this is the only good rip (perfect?) I got, but there's no Texture dump, maybe It is different from game to game, in other pages I looked they said that Daedalus has a texture dumper, but I couldn make it.

There are two versions of the plug in, one doesn't dumps the textures, I don't have teh right one in this computer, but you can search for it.

Mario model doesn't use any texture.

Awesome, thanks for the tutoral! Is there anyway that you can upload that ninetails for me? i'm away from my computer for about a week, but i have access to maya 8.5, but it's a public computer, so i cant install anything...As for the directX 9 thing, yea, doesnt work with n64 emus, they dont use it, i think thiers is like 6 or something. The dolphin emulator is DX 9 though. As for the tails being over lapped, dont worry about it, I should be able to seperate them. Oh, and>>110478, if I get a ripper to work, I'll post a Totodile here for you, so don't worry about that. I'm going to try and get on a computer to rip the models, and if I am able to I'll take requests for pokemon and the like. Hmm..maybe I should start using Tripcodes? I've never understood how that worked though...Oh well. For now, Just email me a request, and I'll see what I can do. No promises though! And thanks agian Pixel-Kakashi for your help! <3

Hell yeah, PK! Thanks a lot.

When I'll get the time, I'll download 1964 again for the export, try the whole thing out, until I reach the stage where I need to fix the model or textures.
Am I fine off with that stage if I get some Sketchup tutorials from Google and try it out with not much learning? Do I need special Papercraft tutorials to figure what's considered buildable and what's not?
>> Pixel-Kakashi
>>110725
Well, with like everything there are certain concepts you must know and understand, if you've built several papercrafts then you must already have a basic idea on what must be considered when designing one, for example how the tabs should be arranged, cause the model often gets a different shape depending on how the tabs are placed, you can try, make different arrangements in tabs as in pieces order.

I "might" consider making a sort of tutorial on what needs to be taken more care of when designing, but don't expect it to appear soon.

And about Sketchup, if you feel comfortable with what you know or what you can learn from a tutorial, all I can say is, try it.

O.k.

After you place the file in the plug ins folder you start your emulator.

1.- You click on the "plug" button or use Plug-in>Change Plug-ins or Ctrl+p

2.- You select "Nemu 64 Graphics" on the video option.

3.- You load the rom, when it reaches the part you want to rip you press F3 to pause the game, go to "Plug-ins" Menu and "Video settings".

4.- You check the option "Export VRML" then click OK. Now you unpause the game (F3) and pause it again quickly. I recommend you go back to "Video Settings" and uncheck "Export VRML" otherwise the games will run slow. Now close the emulator and open your new output.wrl file in Deep Exploration.
