paper Zelda Princess of Destiny at ninjatoes Anonymous
Hey ya guyz and gurlz!! I'm a big Legend of Zelda fan and I really enjoy papercraft too, so I thought I'd put those together and bring you this: a Zelda papercraft.

http://members.home.nl/saarloos/

Somebody requested it a while ago, so that person is very lucky since I was already working on it for some time.

PS: I only design papercrafts I want to have myself, so I don't do requests for Link... ;o)
"Logic dictates" that a ninjatoes' paper Link will follow, but that might take years since I also have a life besides papercraft... ;o)

Yeah, only papercraft I want; but I found that many of the things I want papercrafts of, people here on /po/ want too; Zelda is proof of that. I wanted a Zelda papercraft myself so I started working on it. And a week ago or so somebody here on /po/ was looking for one too!

But what I meant was: if somebody's gonna yell "do an adult Zelda now!" I'm not gonna jump and do an adult Zelda. And in any case: a young Link is next in line of course!
I did young Zelda because she looks so cute and adult Zelda kinda creeps me out. So if you wanted to print adult Zelda out 1:1 and call her your girlfriend: tough luck! ;o)

Hi, I love you. I posted a request for this here a long time ago, my friend really wants me to make a Zelda one for him. THank you for taking the trouble to make this, it looks great!

any pics of how young Link is going
>> /R/ Anonymous
can you make adult Zelda like the pics but take skin from young zelda and put on adult Zelda

So you were the one requesting it; it was just dumb luck that I wanted a Zelda papercraft myself too, but all my papercrafts are free for everybody to download, so enjoy!

Link is a bit more detailed than Zelda, but the most difficult part is the fact that he has legs. I'll explain. ;o)
On the N64, the legs (and arms for that matter) just "morph" into the body when they move, but in a paper model you can't do that, so I have to cut off the shoulders and thighs and re-build them, which takes a lot of time since I'm not an experienced 3D modeler... Oh, and did you know that Link doesn't have a butt underneath his tunic? See the upskirt pic. So I need to make one to attach his legs to.

And then there's the matter of re-texturing... The UV mapping of the models sucks (notice the three mouths...). It takes loads of time to sort that out. Work on Zelda took me months (well, not 24/7 of course...), and Link will take me at least the same amount of time...

>>19483
Sorry, I have so many ideas I want to do papercrafts of, and an adult Zelda just isn't one of them right now... Maybe in the far and distant future...

Well, a Majora's Mask for instance. I know I said a paper Link would be next, but I did this simple model first as a nice distraction of the much more difficult work I had to do on Zelda. So sorry for lying to you guys about that...

There was another version of Majora's Mask some time ago here on /po/, but I wanted to do my own. So here it is at http://members.home.nl/saarloos/ again.

No, see, bazijillion is a squillion bazillions.

Elementary school stuff, dude.

Advance Wars! You rock so much!

Yeah, the AW ones are pretty good, but I'd like them more if they didn't look hand-drawn and hand-colored.

/r/ what I just said!

Zelda's eyes look freaky in the OP picture. It looks like the texture got somewhat deformed. :/
>> Anonymous
Eh! holy fuck they looked retarded in the N64 game.

Good thing they didn't make SSBM Zelda look that ugly.
>> Anonymous
>>19916
That's not it. Just compare>>19394with>>19442: it's obvious that the eye texture was stretched vertically in the paper model. /r/ a fix. :/
>> Joey
instead of complaining about this great model maybe you should try fixing it yourself

here eyes

I can't. However, it should be easy for the author to fix it, so I'm asking for that.

Thank you. Here is a helpful reference to understand what I am humbly asking for. On the left is Zelda with the misplaced/deformed eye textures that we get with the current model. On the right is the original character design.
I'm asking Ninjatoes to change his model from the image on the left to the image on the right.

Don't tell me that's what the in-game model looks like: it's not. Just compare the distance between the eyebrows and the border of the veil in the photo of the papercraft in>>19394and an actual rendering on the game model in>>19442.

I don't want to sound ungrateful, but you've gone so close to making a good Zelda papercraft, and I'd just like you to do the last 5% and fix the face.
>> digerman3
so here eyes is little strange ho care its a good model stop complaning abouth it i like the model

I've been thinking about wether or not I would do something about this; I usually don't. After I finish a model, I consider it finished. More of my models have small problems, especially my hand-drawn models (what a surprise ;o), but since everybody can work paper, people tend to fix these problems themselves. The DIY fixing actually is a very important part of papercraft; if it doesn't fit right, you *make* it fit.

Since this is a texture problem though, I decided to make an exception. I don't really like texturing (especially not on the Zelda models because the UV maps looks really really, *really* messed up), but I managed to adjust the texturing so that the forehead is a little bit higher now. Lucky you. ;o)
I haven't built a new head myself though, so I don't know how it looks yet.

Oh and I just assumed you're all very smart people, but just in case: don't download the picture here, that's just for reference; go to http://members.home.nl/saarloos/ for the new pdf.

Thank you! :D I would never have been able to fix the textures myself. It should look much better now; I'll post pictures once I build it.
Thanks again. :)

Even more kudos to you for handling such a demanding public so well. :3 You = very much greatness.

And for the rest of you, honestly, it won't hurt to say please every once in a while.
Ninjatoes isn't even making them for you.

Zelda deserves a bump to.
