Gift Boxes? Anonymous
Greetings, /po/
I'm a long time lurker and pretty well unskilled at both origami and papercraft. Yesterday I learned to make paper stars. I hope to learn to make many similarly cute/simple/small origami figures wish to make many and give them as a gift someday.

Right now I want to construct a nice gift box to give them in.

Pictured is one such box. It's all cool and fine until I get to step 8. "Begin to fold a box." Lol, wut? Seriously. What in the fuck. I'm almost completely lost. Nothing I try gets me a standing square-ish figure.

Any explanations, advice, or similar/other nice box patterns would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's simple. The red line folds towards the centre of the box while the green lines fold the opposite way.

I sympathise. I'm fighting my way through one of Robert Lang's books. Brilliant mathematician and paper-folder he surely is; presenting visual information isn't his forte. People should read more Tufte.

Thanks, thanks, thanks for both the explained directions and the comforting sympathy!

I'll get better at this. Thanks again!!
