i have done all the craziest models there are, with all the billions of pieces you could imagine. i am done. for me, there would be only one final holy grail.

<----- this.

i want it in absurd detail, i want it to be several feet long, i will devote an entire room to it if i have to, sleeping in the dumpster nightly emerging only to cut out a few more pieces each day.

one day, when i am rich enough, i will hire some bored genius GPM model artist to create it for me. then i will build the model. then i shall perish, consumed, spent, and fulfilled.

OP here. actually first saw this BUCKET WHEEL EXCAVATOR BUILT BY KRUPP IN GERMANY several years ago, back before you became as clever as you are now.

i've been obsessed with it ever since then, quite sexually in fact. hence, must build from paper. wonder how much professional papermodel designers cost ...

Thanks, I thought it was one of my wittiest comments in a long time too. ;)

I have no idea either how much it would cost either, especially since if you really talk to a professional modeller, he or she would probably contact Krupps to inquire about copyright; that can get pretty pricy, but since it's not a video game or movie character but a mining vehicle, it might not be that big a deal. They'll probably start from a 3D model like most of us do, making it themselves, or hiring someone else for that, or obtaining one from Krupps (or at least the info for it). Then the actual paper model designing part. If you're serious about it, just google and send some e-mails to paper model designing companies if it would be possible and how much they usually charge? Though you probably already have done so?

It's not papercraft, but there was a model made of the excavator. Revell-Germany made a plastic model in 1/200 scale back in the 1980s. The going price for them now is about $75 if you can find them. Pic is from ebay.

I agree, it would be interesting to see finished models which are complicated.
