get those refillable ones, they might not be that reliable, but they are way more cheap.
>> Anonymous
you must live with your parents if you can't afford $30.

Nope... although it may come to that.

Crappy economy that it is, finding a job is getting kinda hard. I quit Target before having a nervous breakdown, only to realize I probably should have found other employment first... =x Waiting to hear back from Freescale, and failing that, I will be cleaning pools.

You can refill every ink cartridge. It's just a one-time investment, say, 50 bucks for one of those refill sets, but then you can print as much as you like and buy cheap no-name ink by the gallon.

From my experience shop's own brand and refilled ink cartridges are bit of a hit and miss. They are cheaper for a price. Official products are expensive especially with Lexmark.

You talking about those refill set which comes with a syringe and three bottled inks. I brought one of them once they don't actually work. The only best bet is put papercraft on hold and save some money till you have enough.

You know, if you bring the empty cartridge in to wal-greens, they'll refill it $10 for black and $15 for color

The syringe stuff DOES work, unless you're doing it wrong. Some cartridges won't let you print unless you reset the chip, and you should never wait until the tanks are completely empty, because that causes the head to burn whatever little ink was left in, clogging it forevah!

Get a Kodak. Only costs $25 to refill BOTH cartridges. As in, I pay $25 at the store and get a color and black cartridge. Print quality is just as good as my old HP too.

Well I wasn't the person who refilled it. I think the cartridge printed a few sheets and sort of gave up. I don't use up the cartridge till it's bone dry. Still can't tell how much ink if left when there is a single bar.
There are no places in the uk which refill ink cartridges not as I know off.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this topic, but I think it would be better to post it here than make a new topic.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a printer that can handle printing on two sides with good accuracy? I'm not looking for a duplex printer or anything, where it will automatically flip the paper over, just a printer where I can flip the paper over manually and still have the edges match up accurately. My current printer, because of the way it takes in paper, can't do double-sided printing with any accuracy.

Accurate two sided printing relies on the alignment of the two image files and on the border settings in your printer properties. Set the borders even and print a black and white fast draft for both sides. Hold it up to the light and note the offset between the two sides. Take the left/right difference and apply half of it to each side. The up/down difference will depend on whether or not you rotate the paper when you flip it. Repeat on fast draft until it's aligned.

Sounds a little complicated, maybe, but just keep messing with the borders until it's lined up. You'll get the hang of it.
