Hey /po/. I've often ignored this board but some of the stuff I see here is pretty impressive. How does it work, exactly? You just print out a few sheets of parts, cut them out, and follow directions to fold it into a 3-D figure for display? Sounds cheap and awesome.
Is there a good Samus Aran available? I'm quite the Nintendo fan so really anyone from said company would be cool; Earthbound characters would be nice.

This is the only samus aran we have:

You'll need pepakura viewer to get the 'instructions' for it, get it here:

Also, i'd advise you to start on something easier if you'r e a first-timer.

Ooh, nice site! I like the Smash Bros. capsule. But yeah, that does look complex. What would you suggest for a noob?

If you don't feel too confident, try something like boxes. There's some in the first few pages.

If you're feeling confident, try something like ninjatoes Majora's mask. There's a big version of it around. http://members.home.nl/saarloos/zeldamodels.htm

Also, keep your eyes out for chokipeta models. They look good, are fun to make, and are easy as hell to build.
After a few basic models, try something like the auron or young link model off there. They're huge but they're pretty easy and look damn good.

Do any of these plans expect you to print a single piece that's too big to fit on an 8x11 sheet of paper or do you just print out a whole lot of smaller pieces on multiple sheets, re-sizing the image if it's too broad?

Your pdf viewer should scale the parts to a page, and pepakura will too.

That pepakura download was nothing but a set of plans to some design. Won't I usually find the instructions to put a set of pieces together in a file with the pattern anyway?

hm. That's not right then.
http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/ download the Viewer here.
Pepakura is a program that opens .pdos, which are essentially a 3d model acting as the instructions and a set of sheets with the parts on them.

You wont usually find a piece that wont fit into an 8.5x11.

It's recommended that you buy yourself some cardstock and a swanky new pair of scissors (sharp and straight), although some prefer using hobby knives.
