I can already tell that this will be considered a troll by many, simply becuase of the slew of stupid posts of the same topic a while back, but I assure you, I ask an honest question.

What paper should I use for papercraft? Ive been using 60 pound cardstock for a while now, but my remaining models that I want to create are all in A4 sized .pdo's with the peices quite tightly arranged, and my paper is the standard 8.5x11.

Any ideas, namely those that involve making the supplies I have work instead of buying more things, would be much appreciated.

Picture definately related for complexity and wantedness.

If you can't bring yourself to buy some 8.5x14 cardstock, you'll have to figure out some way to capture the parts pages and shrink them all by a fixed amount. I don't see any alternatives.
>> Anonymous
i just print them at 95% and it fits great on my 8.5x11 paper..the size of the finished model isn't that much smaller when printing at 95%..

Being in the States, I do all my work in Letter size paper too. If you're working with PDO's, Pepakura will resize your document for you if you set your paper size to letter in Printer Setup. Then when you click Print, it will prompt you a question like, "The size of paper specified by Pepakura Designer is not the same as Printer Setting. Adjust scale?" Just click on Yes.

If you're working with a PDF, again set your paper to Letter when you print and where it says Page Scaling choose "Fit to Printable Area" or "Shrink to Printable Area." This will scale the document to fit on an 8.5x11 sheet.

Just "shrink to fit" when printing. It'll come out slightly smaller, no big deal. If you're obsessed about printing it true to the original from a .pdo you'll have to download a PDF printer, print to a PDF file, open in Photoshop, edit the pages, etc, etc... Big hassle.

Does someone have this saved to some sort of document and just copy/paste it the second he sees "what" and "paper"/"glue" in the same sentence?

no, it's typed out each time verbatim. /po/ has excellent memory.

OP Here.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I do feel like a bit of a dumbass to have not paid attention to the past threads, but they're in the past and full of trolls, whereas this one brought honest advice.

I think I will try using my remaining paper to see if theres any quality change, and will search my town for a paper shop for 8.5 x 14 cardstock.

>>174758
all is good then?

>>174773
So far, I haven't had print quality problems when I downscale my models. The size difference is small anyways. Upscaling is a whole 'nother thing.

As for card stock, I prefer the 80lb or 90lb weight. It's harder to find in the office supplies stores though as they usually have just the 65lb and 110lb.

awesome!!!
thanks anon :D

if you can't find the cardstock in a store, call the speciality office supply stores. I lucked up and got some from the local printing company.

sauce on op's pic?

So...what kind of paper/glue is best?
>> Anonymous
>>174842
Presumably whatever your comfortable with. Elmer's and 67lb cardstock are my bread and butter, but anything that runs through a printer and anything that can stick stuff together technically does work.

Also, nice attempt at a subtle flame war.

i haz cardstock. I was trying to make a plane but it's hard to make when i use elmer's glue. The glue spreads out of the crevices on to my fingers and i get the plane smothered in glue. wah!
>> Anonymous
>>174874
have you tried spreading it with a toothpick? Pour a little bit of glue onto a plastic lid or something and apply a thin coat of glue using a toothpick, preferably a round one with the pointy tip rather than the flat kind.

you can also try aleene's tacky glue if you can find it. it's thicker and well, tackier. lol
>> ice age
If the pdo file is old, i can edit it even it is edit locked

i can rearrange the pieces onto letter sized sheets if you want

see, it seems to me that they actually talking about... PAPERCRAFT!
Odd concept.
