Volumetric measures(scale) is used in models (plastic, metal and other),if you put a full size something in water and it shifts 1 lt of liquid then if you put a 50%(1:2)you can aspect it will shift 1/2 lt.

instead with papercraft you can use also the measure of the surface area of the templates.
if you have a 12 pages model and it comes 20cm height if you print it in 3 pages(4 in a sheet) it will comes 5cm height.
now you can think you have a 25% model but instead the volume is 1/2(50%)of the full scale!

but we're talking of papercrafts and in papercrafts (and in common sense)is far much simpler to consider the surface area of the templates than the volume of the entire model!
(OP surely means he printed 4 pages in a sheet)

so everyone(but some nitpicking volumemodelfag)will now and ever use the area and not the volume.

You're mixing up volume, area and length measurements.
When it comes to scale models, we look at the length. Not at the area, not at the volume. That's how scaling works. A 1:10,000 scale model of my dick, which measures 100 kilometers from tip to scrotum, will measure a tiny yet mammoth 10 meters from tip to scrotum.. This is what a scale factor is, a ratio of distances.
Now, if you were to print out your model at a scale of two pages per sheet, you may intuitively think that you're printing a 50% scale model. Right? WRONG. Your model will be scaled down by a factor of, brace for it, your mind will be blown, the square root of two. You may halve the area, but distances are reduced by a factor of ~1.41.
In order to print out a true 50% scale model, you'd need to print 4 pages per sheet. You scale down the area by a factor of four, but distances are merely halved.
A 25% scale model would have to be printed 16 pages per sheet. Distances will be scaled down by a factor of 4, creating the desired scale.

This is how model and map scales are, have always been, and will always be calculated. Anything else is a combination of wrong, ignorant, stupid and troll.

This is also the /po/ fictional "standard" and the more "logic" scaling technique(you have just to count the sheets).

1 page for sheet is full size(1:1).
2 pages for sheet is 50%(1:2).
4 pages for sheet is 25%(1:4).

And I think you mean "per sheet" not "for sheet"?
But still, 50% isn't 2 pages per sheet, it's 4 pages per sheet: the width is twice as small,
so you can fit two next to eachother, and the height is also twice as small, so you can fit
two rows on top of eachother: 2x2(or 2^2)= 4
25% isn't 4 pages per sheet, it's 16 pages per sheet: the width is four times as small, so
you can fit 4 next to eachother, and the height is four times as small, so you can fit 4
rows on top of eachother: 4x4 (or4^2)= 16.

You seem to keep forgetting over and over that you don't just only make the width or only the height twice as small, but both. All "difficult" mathematical equations aside, you can just easily figure it out by drawing a picture (either for real, or just in your head).
