Would this be good enough? Although this doesn't look like a chocobo, it does have some resemblance to it.

Actually, everybody seems to agree that Satoshi Kamiya's "Yellow Bird" is in fact a Final Fantasy Chocobo. Maybe it's a copyright thing?
>> that guy
well chocobos were actualy modled after the riding birds in hayao miyazaki's Nausicaa vally of the winds, so as long as you dont use the word chocobo i dont think ther will be a huge issue :P

Someone posted translated instructions at one point, and I saved them. I hope this repack of them into a PDF is helpful.

These are a nicer scan than the Japanese version. Many thanks for this. I downloaded both, and just out of curiosity I tried going through the Japanese version to see how far I would get without words. I got further than I thought I would.

Now that the origami request is fulfilled...
Did anybody find the templates for this papercraft? Some time ago, some people were going to contact the guy. Did they fail hard?

Jamis is working on it. I think from the thread you're referring to, the person who had made one had used bitturn to create the papercraft. I think Jamis did contact them, because I asked, and he said that he had already contacted the relevant people, or at least one of them. It seems that there's no template currently available for it, so Jamis is working on creating the template for the chocobo along with the Cloud papercraft he's already working on. The basic Cloud papercraft that Jamis has posted here before is a lined version, and he's busy right now, so a lineless one hasn't been posted yet. If someone wants, I can create one where the lines blend in better in Photoshop. It would save Jamis the trouble.

bump for the bird!

UGH. Just plain UGH. You do realize this is a SLOW BOARD, and you don't need to bump something on the first page meanlessly, don't you, trollface?

you sir are an a*s

you are probally >>2998 from the chokipeta board aren't you?

Wow, some folks got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning...
>>29996
That was an unneeded bump.
>>29997
That was overkill. They weren't trying to troll, or if they were, you can't prove it.
>>30000
Horrible GET. And unwarranted.
>>30001
Drop it.

But hopefully the folks trying to put together the papercraft will get back to us. Still, bumping is not the answer at the moment.

Jamis has been showing up at nearly every one of these boards about Final Fantasy papercraft to basically say what I did earlier about him working on it, but he's really busy right now, so it's going kinda slow. I'm sure he is getting pretty motivated by so many people desiring this papercraft.

Also, to 29996 who bumped the post for the bird, I think it's fine to bump a post on the front page, since it keeps it from falling to a later page for that much longer, but I don't understand why you bumped for the bird right after I explained what was going on.

Anyway, I figure some progress will be made on the papercraft around Christmas break, as long as jamis doesn't get pulled into too many Christmas and New Year's parties.

howdja know about my party habits?!

I am definitely bogged down right now. I've got the equivalent of a 20 page paper to start, draft, revise, finnish and hand in by tomorrow at 3pm mountain time. And a calc3 test on next tuesday to study for (that I probably need at least an 80 on).

Chocobo will come before Cloud because I'm planning on having Cloud textured really well where as Mr. Chocobo is yellow and tan and orange and eyes and easier.

Christmas break will give me a butt load of time to work on it. Sorry it's taking so much time. If I could get paid making templates I'd be doing that instead of school... but I'm not.

oh, also, I found out that SketchUp from Google is apparently pretty good at folding stuff. Thus, I may use it to make instructions for my templates.

until I get a template... hell.. uhm... enjoy?

Your party habits came up once before in one of the Cloud threads when you were trying to get a clear head before you did something, I forget what. But even if someone isn't into parties, they can still be dragged into a bunch of them, so either way it was a safe bet.

When I was following the instructions for making Kamiya's Yellow Bird, he said something about not only loving the characters in Final Fantasy enough that he just had to make an origami of the chocobo, but it also sounded like he was really looking forward to someone making a papercraft of it someday. Maybe you can use your template in exchange for something from Satoshi Kamiya, like getting noticed by him and in a good way to boot.

Also, if you want, I can take and post pictures of Chobi, the Chocobo from the Final Fantasy Unlimited TV series. I could also help with taking pictures of scenes from Advent Children for Cloud texture references.

The picture is Chobi.
