Does anyone else find these lacking something? They just... sorta leave me with a sad "1970's craftbook" feeling.

It's a common misperception of many /po/eple here that every papercraft has to be highly detailed and look exactly like the original.
If that's what you like, that's absolutely fine of course, but there are /po/eple that actually like a 1970's craftbook feeling. ;o)
Who are we to judge what people like? It's the most subjective thing of all...

No, actually those first two are mine. I don't need to curse to troll here.
And yes, I'm trying to say the model is sub-amateur and not 21st century.

out of interest, have you designed any models?

Yes, for the last decade.
I am amused at the aggressive outcry for models and so little proof anonymous builds much.
Seems about a 10,000:1 download:build ratio.
Equally amused by the heaviest demands for grammar school engineering with highschool level graphic design.

I think that's actually a pretty good estimate.
Now what's yer point?? lol

Point is there are ways to make joints with paper, which aren't that hard. And those just look... goofy.

lol "I think there's a 10,000:1 download:build ratio." --> "The point I'm trying to make with this is that you can make good looking joints with paper."
lol WTF? I don't think you got my post? Doesn't matter though. Yeah OP is not a realistic, statuette-like paper model, but not all papercrafts need to be. If people don't like this one, I'd advise them NOT to build it. If they do, I say: build it.
