I found a way to extract models from WoW. I changed the .m2 format into .obj format. Then I threw that into Pepakura. It looks like I'll have to buy the license to save my work.... FUCK. Once my paycheck rolls around, I'll start pushing these out left and right. Here is what I've been working on.
>> Mr. Flare !!gJm17G0oQSG
I'd be really, really interested in anything you manage to get working. Bump for Great Justice!
>> Anonymous
how did you change it?

Did you just rename the .m2 to .obj, or did you use another program to do it?

I actually extracted the model in the hopes of building one of my characters, but the equipment wouldn't come with her, aside from the shape of the boots and gloves...

I'm not after a life-sized model, dude. I just want a few desk toys-like. I'd actually be doing this myself if the only computer I have WoW installed on wasn't totally fucked

Also meant to say I'd understand if the textures are in some weird format, but if they're just regular pictures or something that pepakura can use, I'd love to have them so I can texture the models myself. I don't want to cause any trouble, just want something i can sit on my desk all pretty-like, you know?

As a matter of fact, I am ripping it straight from WoW. Sort of. In the process, I take a file from Modelviewer, export it as .ms3d, open it in milkshape, and convert it to .lwo. I then drag that file over to pepakura and spend up to 40 minutes on organizing the pattern to save space and paper. I also do some research and resize the items to be life size. All this for you, Anon. ^_^ enjoy

maybe I should go into detail about myself. I make props for local colleges part time. I've just recently have gotten into pepakura and I am very excited. Normally I make items out of pvc, cardboard, cloth, foam., and fiberglass. I have enough crap on my desk, I don't need to bog it down with paper dolls. (some of you are suffering from this I hear). I'm merely giving somehting that I have not seen on the interwebs and I wanted to share it. I'm even offering to model item, equipment and item requests. Take it or leave it. If you read through, you can do this process yourself and with your own taste in mind. But until then, please shut up about figurines. You can run to PMF for that shit.

Pic very much related.
>> Anonymous
>>188153
Well, then, how about giving us some .obj's so we can do it ourselves? Seems like it'd be easier than all the stuff you're doing already, and this way we can do what we want with them. It's easier for you, easier for us- everybody wins! :D

obsessive nerds making little paper dolls.

Some people like sports, some like video games, some like reading, running, working, drawing, whatever. Some of us just happen to like making paper models. It does not make us obsessive, nor does it make us nerds.
>> Anonymous
>>188190
You mean as opposed to the idea of obsessive nerds building life sized replicas out of cardboard? I mean, I'm sorry it's not to your taste, but you realize that this is the Papercraft and Origami board, right? It's kind of implied that we like to make things out of paper...

All I was asking was instead of going to all the trouble in pepakura, just giving us something we can stick in it ourselves. I honestly don't want to cause you any trouble or be an imposition- I appreciate what you've done so far. It's just an awkward gift to give, at least on this board.

Thank you for lending us your valuable insight. It is much appreciated. Feel free to post any future creations.
/sincere post is sincere.

Also, it's possible in pepakura to adjust the scale of the model in a .pdo file, so you can take pdo's of miniature models and scale them up to prop-size.
I'm not asking for anything here; I just thought you might like to know that if you didn't already.

>>188190
>little paper dolls
While I can see how papercraft models can seem unimpressive from having been working in props, not all of papercraft is "little paper dolls."

<<<<<<<<<<
Take Chamoo232's papercraft of D0g from Half-Life 2.
It's certainly not prop-sized, but it's by no means a "little paper doll"

/po/ newb here, how exactly to you go about making things like that, you /po/fags are interesting me
>> Anonymous
You model it for weeks in 3D software, then unfold it for weeks in Pepakura, then spend weeks building it. After all that, you post pics to tease the /po/opercrafters.

She ripped the D0g model from the game, then had to redo and simplify it to make it buildable.
>>
>>188317
ahh, so you guys like to go by /po/opercrafters eh?
seems like a lot of work, but i'm sure the end result is awesome. What kind of paper do you guys use? like something more durable eh? i'm a /b/tard so this stuff is all new to me

It's pretty evident you're a /b/tard... Moving on, the steps needed are in the forum, just read thr.....you can read right? Just checking. The rip took only about 40 minutes to organize and print. I'll be done piecing it together by tomorrow or so, so not weeks, only a matter of a week.

^ the DOG model is ridiculously intricate, I believe that took the crafter about a month.
