Hi-Poly Models daleus
Just a bit curious... if I have a high-poly model that results in looking like garbage once it's unfolded in Pepakura, is there a way to lower the geometry in Pepakura or do I have to load it into a 3D modeler and edit the model itself?

I know of no other way to reduce polycount than do load the model in something like sketchup and do it by hand. Would be great if there was a "select all -> simplify model" tool.

polygon cruncher?

Any sort of LOD or Optimise functions inside a 3d program should help. This of course requires you have such a program. But this is the internets.

Okay. I know several programs have an option and/or plugin to reduce the poly count while trying to keep the shape. I'll try that.

Thanks guys.

So many people who discover Pepakura want shortcuts. But they'll only result in baaaaad papercrafts (not really fun to build).
It's not just a matter of lowering the polycount, the real trick is to do it in such a way, with making it into papercraft later on in the back of your head, so you can lower the poly count in a SMART way.
Do it by hand, it will be better in the end.
