Best tip I can give you: figure out how it's supposed to work before you glue any parts together that you shouldn't. ;)

If you enjoy repetition, you will enjoy this.
It also helps if you've taken apart a cube before and understands how it works.

i can solve any size cube, the 3x3 is definitely the most fun. I'd say, twist it around a few times, to get a feel for what does what.

Pick a piece, and then pick a different spot on the cube, and see how fast you can get that piece in that spot.

I've made that one before... unfortunately, it's too hard to turn without completely ripping apart the model. It is possible, but you have to wiggle around the pieces so much to get it to move that it takes about a minute per turn. :(

Still a cool model, though, and a cool idea.
