Jesus fucking Christ /po/ I must really love this girl.

Our 2 year anniversary is tomorrow. Because she loves thoughtful home made things, and since flowers are an obvious thing to give, I made her a dozen pink roses.

Total work time was about 15 hours. My right hand is cramping so badly I can't even type with it.

I could probably go over the technique if anyone is interested.

Picture attached.

Close up of a single rose.

Warning to anyone attempting to do this: it will be one of the most miserable times of your lives. It is not fun. You will hate begin to hate it and yourself by about the third rose.

But the ladies fucking LOVE THEM. So there is that.

nice work anon. Hope she likes them

So pretty!
If my bf did something like that for me I would get sooo happy.

What template did you use? And paper? It looks almost transluscent.

OP here.

I didn't use a template, all done from scratch. Simple in theory, pain in the ass in execution.

The Paper is crepe paper, you know, that really thin tissue paper type stuff that people stuff into the tops of gift bags and the like.

I will see if I can't put together a quick step by step for it.

Materials Needed:

Pipe cleaner(any color)
Tissue paper(Both green and the desired color of the rose)
White glue (the stuff you used in elementary school)
Scissors
Patience(this is really the most important one)

First: grab a pipe cleaner

Second: Cut a piece of the green tissue paper roughly the length of the pipe cleaner, and 6-7 inches wide.

Put a decent amount of white glue on the tissue paper, but remember, this stuff is thin, so you don't need a lot, or it will soak through. I like to make a square around the edges, then an X across the middle.

Third: Roll the paper around the pipe cleaner loosely, a tight fit is not necessary and will leave you in tears.

Next, twist the whole thing is such a way that you don't rip the paper, but you compress it to as compact a size as possible, after that I like to put it between my palms and roll it back and forth, for a little extra.

(There is a missing step, but 4chan is being a lameass and won't let me delete it, anyways, I missed the thread, its floating around out there.)

Take a few scrap pieces of the same color paper as the rose, and kind of wrap em around the end, just so as you can't see the pipe cleaner.

Since this is a shorter step, I am going to take this time to add this wisdom: your fingers are going to get messy as fuck, its unavoidable. Is the paper starts getting too sticky to work with, take a break and peel the glue off your fingers, or start on the next rose. When you come back it should be dry enough to continue.

Now this is where it gets tricky. Take one of the petals, and glue it in place. The first petals which make up the "center" should all be glued on slightly higher up than the last. The centers of mine usually have 15-20 petals. The key to placement is to stager them in places where there is a gap in petals. You can stick in your pinky to open them up a bit.

Now this is where you start to hate yourself, as a person. This is sitting on the line between an art and a skill. If you pull back in the petal, and pinch the bottom together as you attach it, you can get it to kind of fold outwards. Manipulating this how you want can get tricky really quick. Know that you will probably need to make 4 or 5 practice roses before you are good at making them, which is very frustrating. The closer to the center the petal is, the more straight up it is, but be patient, as you use this technique, and the more petals you add, the more the bottom begins to fill out, and it takes on a rose like shape.

Another random tip: it took me a 4 ounce bottle of glue to make a dozen of these. Buy twice as much glue as you need. When a bottle is half empty, just throw it away, you will save yourself a lot of pain and cramps trying to squeeze more glue out of it, especially since you have to squeeze the bottle 2-3 times per petal, up to 50 petals per flower, it really adds up.

After you complete the inner section, you have to make a choice, keep staggering the petals upward, and you will get a rose with a deeper center, and fuller outer petals, or stager them back down towards the stem, and have a rose with a more conical shape, as is seen with their real life counterparts.

After about 25 petals, your rose should be filling out nicely.

( I only put about 30 petals on this one, as it is a quick demo and I am sick of making them. )

Once you have put on as many petals as you see fit; which is all personal preference, grab your green paper again.

Cut more of the petal shapes, but in green. You will need two green petals per rose, more if you want an extra "leaf" or two on the stem.

Place them especially low on the flower, so that they cover up the bottom of the petals. Yous can use more than two if you want to really go above and beyond, but I don't find it necessary.

Holy shit that's hardcore

Dude, I got sex just from teaching her how to make a disc bag thing from paper. You're overdoing it.

Man, you are so cool.

This one looks like crap, because I made it in a gout 30 minutes, so excuse that. I added some poorly fashion petals to the stem, take more care and cut a jagged edge to give them a little extra detail.

Your rose is done! (unless you are making a bouquet of them, in which case, you have my sympathy.)

Tie them together at the stem, or put them in some clear cellophane, all professional like.

Also, I hate you all because I had to make another of these goddamn things.

Also: watch tv or listen to music or something while you do this. It is a test of your sanity.

(The missing step, yay!)

Put the pipe cleaner aside.

Get the color paper you want your roses to be. I chose pink because I could not get red tissue paper. Roughly draw the shape shown, it doesn't have to be exact, and it doesn't have to be perfect.

Tips: the more symmetrical and well rounded the round end is, the better the petals will look, don't worry about the pointy end or the middle part, as it wont be seen really.

Another Tip: Cut as many of these at once as possible. Take how many you think you will need and multiply it by 5. (Remember what I said about patience?) Each rose is going to need 30-50 of these.

this is a bit sucky but I'll throw it out there anyways: how about some rosewater (found at hippy shops) in a spray bottle and give the bouquet a light going over from a few feet away so as not to moisten them too heavily?
it'd only be a light scent and surely it would fade ... overkill?

If you want to get laid, buy her a drink. If you love her, work your ass off and be happy even if all you get is a peck on the cheek.

Seems I love this one.

...thank fucking Christ we're past the kiss on the cheek stage.

That is actually an excellent idea. These smell like glue. A lot.

Really nice one, especially as Valentine's day is getting close.

Does anyone have a Origami rose template btw?
>> Anonymous
someone save the pictures and pack it together this will come in handy for people sooner or later
>> Anonymous
Might I suggest using the green cloth-covered floral wire instead of a pipe-cleaner? It would probably save a little time and be less messy.

this is very sweet of you. :)
