wausau exact index heavy card stock in smooth finish 110lb is perfect for most applications. I get this for a mere $1.85 for 250 sheets too, so it is pretty cheap overall.

Does this come in A4? $1.85 per 250 is fucking great.

110-160lbs is good for general use. You can use as low as 80 if you are doing something really tiny. 160+ (usually 210) is good for big or really rigid crafts.

I don't know if it comes in A4.

As for where I get it, office depot down the street. But office depot online is not showing it. :-\ I'll have to look around for it. Though it does occur to me that since it is so cheap, it might be an otherwise unmarked clearance item at the store I go to.

Though this paper also comes in colors too. A friend of mine did a 3-foot zaku on pink stock, the red ink on it came out like a frickin' dodge red. I have used the powder blue and light grey for RPG structures and it gives them a really nice tone as well.

My fave is Wausau Exact Index 90 lb (about 160g/m2). Exact Index is available in both these weights in 8 1/2 x 14 paper, which is bigger than A4, thus suitable for printing out an A4 model. I buy it from a wholesale paper supply house; it comes in a paper wrappper rather than the crinkly plastic wrapper in the picture, but it's the same stuff.
