Papercraft requires cardstock Anonymous
OMG, I am retarded! I've been using ordinary printer paper this whole time!
>> Anonymous
Didn't you realize everything was all unsturdy and shit?
>> Anonymous
No u got it right.
papercraft uses paper, 4chan is papercraft.
Real kits are cardmodels using cardstock.
Welcome to failchan.

Yeah I did, but I just thought "that's how it goes..."

Now I feel hardcore (albeit still really fucking stupid) for having assembled as many as I have with thin paper.

gawsh, you use paper from the printer until you are lucky enough to be able to use a colour printer...

oh wow. i suck too
ive been using printer paper

While most papercraft kits for children are printed from thicker paper (about 150gsm), it's still printer paper.

Same here, I've always used printer paper and never had a problem with my models. Just as long as you aren't really rough with the paper, it'll come out looking great.

I recommend a thicker grade paper though, copy paper is too thin. I personally use 24lb weight.

Printer paper is fine for papercraft. I use printer paper for all my papercrafts and they're perfectly sturdy.

It doesn't make you an idiot, or retarded, for using printer paper.

Now that, is the idiot.

No it doesn't, of course not. If you don't want to buy cardstock (it's more expensive than regular paper) then don't.

Using normal paper won't mean you can't touch the papercraft out of fear that it will buckle, but using cardstock will make it sturdIER.
It's simple logic: thicker paper --> stronger.
And the bigger the parts get (the bigger the distance between the edges of the parts, those are actually the strong parts on the papercrafts) the better is it to use cardstock instead of regular paper.

THIS JUST IN; CARDSTOCK IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN REGULAR PAPER.

I've always used printer paper.Models look ok but they're too light. Now I'm using 120gm paper and it's very better.
Anyway it depends of what kind of model you want to build. for little ones PP is ok.
Indeed I use to glue cents inside my models to give them some more weight

I've been building all my models with paper as well.

Except I actually knew that I should have been building them on cardstock.

I sat on my last model.

I don't think any thickness of paper can save it from that horror.
