Hey /po/tatoes. I had a cool idea of creating a mechanical Megaman diorama. Here's a gay blueprint concept. I'm working on the crank handle and the rail connections at the moment. Any input or suggestions are very welcome.

Just throwing it out there, if you like it pick it up, if not send it back....

If you move the crank to below the back of the snake's head, you could use a bent piece of metal, like a coat hanger, and let the discs float freely on it.

That's a very good idea..! Thanks!

Also, if you adopt this new location, you could make an internal piston that could open and close the snake's mouth... Just depending on how complicated you plan on making it. I have no ideas on how to make fireballs pop out, at least none that are safe around paper and children...

Goddamit, I fucking love /po/. This isn't even sarcasm. You wouldn't hear that on any other board.

if you check the webdudes page and look at the design of his paper dragon it has the mechinism for the body part so I would use that, with some sleight modification. I would attach the body parts hard to the crank shaft. Then use another off center piston to open and close the mouth of the snake. This is a really shitty diagram trying to explain what I am talking about.

By this do you mean you would glue them so that the body pieces rotate? The purpose of letting them float free over an internal mechanism is that in the game they are moving solely in the Y-axis, in a wave motion. Hard gluing them will make them rotate, which gives a similar effect from a straight on view, but just doesn't look right from any perspective....

Well, from what I thought he meant was something like this;

yes this is what I meant,m sorry I was uncleay. I meant hard mount the cam mechninism to the shaft. I would also use square tubeing as it makes things so much easier, and quite a bit sturdier.

For the snake body, have you thought of using toilet paper rolls? Might make things more sturdy during the actual movement process. Also stronger and will last longer.

Hey, if anyone ever gets anywhere with something like this... also consider one with the vanishing blocks.
>> Octo
Vanishing blocks? All I could do on that is have a mechanism that retracts blocks in a pattern back into the wall.

More like undulating blocks, if I'm understanding right.
