well, if anyone's up for buying this from Turbosquid, I'd gladly put it through pepakura and put instructions to it.

(not that I think anyone's willing to pay $30 for the model)

hey dai can you use thats files from the site
>> dai

Two steps ahead of you, but after all the work I just did, general grievous crashes pepakura after about 48% of the import. Needs some working-down...

in the meantime, I'll work at the battle droid.

Why do you want it bigger?
Often is more important how do you use it!!!

the 1:1 High Detail Battle Droid has officially begun the process of becoming a papercraft.

cool thanks dai

GODFUCKINGDAMMIT...

because of the scale of the original file, despite my resizing it in 3ds max, makes pepakura try to make the head be no more than 6 cm, when it's actually 12 inches from nose to top.

That would have been good to know before I spent two hours tweaking the model in pepakura to get all of the pieces in workable sections...

Still, I find that I should PROBABLY clean up some of the unnecessary bits of the model before exporting it, because we got a CRAPLOAD of tiny specks of surface with gigantic useless tabs. See pic.

PROTIP: there is a command to adjust scale
>> dai
problem with using the adjust scale is that it only allows me to do that AFTER having laid out the pieces, so the pieces retain their gigantic triangular tabs.

Again, I'll refine the model to be a smidge less complex, I noticed a lot of things while unfolding it.
>> dai
if you want to play around with the model, though, here's the link to what's in the other picture. Feel free to tinker and figure things out. Set the scale to 10.0, which is about 27.9cm, and exactly the size it NEEDS to be.

You can adjust tab length.
configuration > flap configuration > change all flap widths > the width in mm you want them to be

Thanks joe, didn't think of that.

Managed to (Mostly) clean up the model's cuts and such. it currently takes up 7 pages, but can EASILY fit 4 or 5 (once everything is rotated and packed in).

the tiny little beveled edges are KILLING me, especially around the indented area around the 'nosebridge panel'. Had to toss all of the mini strings of scrap off to the side in the file for the time being.

PDO file is available for download if someone wants to test-build this. I'm not going to really work much on it until I get some good feedback on how well it works thus far.

all info and downloads found here, as always- http://paperworks.wikidot.com/daijitsu-battledroid

I'm currently developing systems for the joints all over it's body to make it poseable, so I can't do it myself at the moment.

I need someone to try and testbuild the file I posted to see how things fit, and what still needs fixing.
