Dragon Papercraft Anonymous
You're probably all sick of this by now but I'm trying to do it as a favour for my math teacher who want to do a display for the school's Open House next week. I've got the neck done up, just lost on the actual head.

Does anybody have general tips (right now I just compare edge lengths to see which pieces fit where) or are willing to group up the parts and point out which section it is on the model?

And to those who don't have it: ask and ye shall recieve.

bump of desperation :\

I haven't got this model, so I can't help you... ;)

The easiest way to do it is with the model open is pepakura, then you can use the piece finder thing and it will tell you which part goes where. That's what I did when I built it.

Really hard to explain the process for this thing.

I did this about 2 months ago.. one thing i noticed after the build was that.. it was meant to be built back wards (hard to explain)
This pic is the one I made. I edited it bit and printed it on red cover stock. Lowered the opacity to 30% so the lines wouldn’t show.

This is from the original builder. Notice how it has no lines and is reversed.

This is from a fellow /po/er. See the lines? And like mine its reverse

It's strange seeing my pics pop up again. Unfortunately I never attached the end of the tail on it, so it's still on my desk incomplete =/

You know, I noticed shortly after I started building it that the original was reverse of the one I was building, and not until I read your post about it being built backwards did I realize that would work. Just fold the pieces reverse of the lines and it would work just fine.

Perhaps on my second build I'll color it and take out the lines.

O RLY. Open/extract the attached with winrar.

I didn't know one could do that. Thanks, I'll get to downloading pepakura and building the rest ?

Sorry for the double-post, but speaking of which, could somebody post the .pdo file? (heehee)

Can anyone RS this dragon as pdf within instruction

Yeah, the 3D image in pepakura is how the op's pic was made. I took 6 screenshots of it in pepakura and put them in MSPaint. I usually work on a Mac, so that's how I was giving myself something to base my work off of.

Also, thanks for uploading the .rar with all the pdf files for the dragon. I don't know where the dragon is in the rankings at tamasoft.jp now, so I can't give a direct link to the pdo file. It was #101 the last time I checked over a month ago.

To the OP, I've made two of these before, but I've never bothered with the scales for the dragon. I'll try to find where I have it already on my computer, and edit the first two pages so it's easier to figure out where everything goes.

page 1 of the head. It pretty much deals only with the mouth and nose. The next page I'll upload deals with the part of the head that would go around the brain and attach to the neck.
First page of instructions.

And the second page. There are a few parts that I don't remember where they go without building the dragon again. I also don't guarantee that I remembered how to put all of this together correctly from memory, so use your best judgement.

Also, to clarify what the orange means: the arrows point to where one piece will fit to another, or which pieces go together, and panels that have been colored orange attach to themselves.

Thanks so much :) I wish I could make it up to you but you'll just have to accept my love and some good karma.

you missed a third page dont ya?
>> Anonymous
>>37452

Third page is all pieces of the neck which isn't very difficult to figure out.

PS, to anyone else wanting to build this, I'll help you out. Like

said, pepakura viewer's the best way to figure out assembly (without instructions). The program's free here:

http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/download/viewer.html

and to get the dragon .pdo file, got to:

http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura/gallery/ranking.php?len=0&sort=0&cate=-1&lim=5

and search using: ?
