I disagree with almost everything the 1st poster said. Copy paper is good for small to medium hollow things like Canon's stuff, though.
Use cardstock if the craft needs support. Pre-crease the folding lines with some metal thing to make it easier to fold correctly. You don't need strong glue, as I used Elmer's white glue to make a model Mechwarrior/Battletech Madcat/Timberwolf 1ft high. It also helps to nab some silica gel from somewhere and use it as a desiccant for the paper, as moist paper is a bitch to fold and glue.
You can get 100lb cardstock from your local office supply store or Walmart-esque place. $20US for 150 pages.
