Maya/ 3D studio max fag here, UV unwrapping gets easier and easier as time goes by. The more ya work on it the more it feels like you're playing a weird version of tetris. Although, I'm not aware of the CD4 interface, if its anything like my two programs, the "create UV's based on camera" function really helps. Pic related, Its a low poly tower and mouse with a 128 px. texture. map i made for PS@ quality game engines.
