I need some help. I just ripped Captain Falcon's model from SSB and imported it into Blender, which I think I've done right so far. But when I render it, nothing appears - it's just black. Anyone know what the problem is? :(

No, I don't know, but you're a god for doing this.

OP here, I'm following these two tutorials:

http://www.nintendopapercraft.com/2008/07/how-to-edit-n64-model-into-suitable.html
http://www.vimeo.com/1347057

So perhaps if anyone could expand on those I might be able to figure out where I'm going wrong.

add a light source without it everything comes up as being in a dark room

light source
>> TheManInBlack !p4CM5j7OKw
there is a light source option somewhere it has been a while since i used blender. But i came to the same point and i remembered i had no light so everything in the area would appear black.

also you might try googleing(sp) up some blender tutorials. they might tell you where the light source button is. and i took a second look at the pic it is definitely a lighting issue

OP here, managed to add lighting. But it only shows up some of the parts of the model. I imported it with slightly different settings and could view all of it. Regardless of this though, none of the textures seem to have been dumped with the model (assuming they also get dumped into the VRML folder in C:\).

OP again, just realised it's quite possible I'm using the wrong plugin that doesn't dump textures... I'll look into this

You're ripping with Lemmy's plugin, right?

Lemmy's does retarded things with the textures, but it does get them all. Hopefully you can figure out how to reassign them properly. That's the hard part.

FUCK YES.

OP once again. When I combine all the meshes it seems to merge the textures onto multiple meshes (so for example the boot texture, once merged, will go over all the legs). Anyone know what the problem is here?

OKAY!!! ALL CAPS IS COOL!!! :P

My guess is that each texture is assigned to one mesh, so when you attempt to merge two meshes, the textures try to stretch themseves over the enirety of the resulting mesh.

...Then again, I've only worked with Autodesk Inventor, so take that with a grain of salt.
