omfg, link to the model ripping application required, I want all the models from pokemangz, and I want to make them all into papercrafts, and then I will make an entire papermangz city!

I dream of this, and also would be fun with animal crossing

I've found some resources for ripping shit from DS roms. Once I figure it all out, I'll post a rar of the shit, and hopefully somewhat document it.

I found a model :O It's some sort of pokemon PC

It seems like there's no way to convert these DS models to a format usable for papercrafting, yet, but I'm sure it's soon to come.

what is the program you are using to get these

a quote from the site where this originated:
"Ripping these models is simple:
I used a rom, an NSBMD model viewer and OGLE (opengl ripper), along with tarnaa23's custom config."

Thanks anon..now to get down to ripping..or something :D
>> Anonymous
I get an error that says
"The system cannot execute the specified program."
from the sendspace link provided...the file was only 33k, is it supposed to be that small
>> Anonymous
You skipped a few steps, like DL:
vcredist_x86.exe
glut32.dll

Also, the model box pops up and..nothing..no frame. What to do with OGLE, copy the folder contents to nsmbd or just the ogle-0.3b folder?

I have a feeling there's a step missing that activates ogle...
>> GreenPickles !!uL4Om5KfWRa
The CORRECT way to make this work:
1: Get DSLazy for the roms (use unpack)
2: get nsbmd.rar ( http://www.sendspace.com/file/r9e97x )
Unzip that into a folder that's easy to type to
3: Get GLIntercept 0.5 ( http://glintercept.nutty.org/download.html ) install
4: Download OGLE 0.3-b ( http://ogle.eyebeamresearch.org/download )
5: Extract the folder that is in the .zip INTO the GLIntercept0.5\plugins folder and rename 'ogle-0.3b' to just 'ogle'
6: Download and install VS2008 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&di
splaylang=en ) or nsbmd WILL NOT WORK
7: Download glut32.dll (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?glut32 ) put that into the nsbmd directory
8: Grab this and put it into the nsbmd folder as well: ( http://taarna23.blackened-interactive.com/gliConfig.ini ) and text edit the D:\ to whatever the drive letter you have it set as.
9: FINALLY copy the OpenGL32.dll from the GLIntercept folder and paste it into the nsbmd folder.
10: Then just run -> cmd type to the nsmdb folder and nsbmd -d whateverfile.nsbmd and a gray window should pop up with the model visible.

Thanks, this produced the proper frame_###### folder, and in fact, pepakura read the .obj very well, pic extremely related

Now I just need to figure out how to apply different textures to seperate pieces of a model in pep and I can begin unfolding this

Thanks, this produced the proper frame_###### folder, and in fact, pepakura read the .obj very well, pic extremely related

Now I'm pretty new to model making, so I don't know how to apply textures to separate parts in pepakura, plus I'm pretty sure the model needs to be edited first and given a back wall. I'm too busy and too lazy to work on it for now, here's a download of the .obj, .pdo, and textures for anyone who wants to work with it.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/b22os8

Also, for thsoe that plan on editing this, I foudn a good .OBJ importer for SketchUp:

my problem is extracting data from NARC/CARC files. MKDS as full character models (as seen on the character select screen) however they are stuck inside archive files as they aren't used often enough in game to warrant having them uncompressed. Anyone know of a way to decompress them?
>> Anonymous
>>131443

What this Anon said. Seriously DO WANT!
>> Anonymous
>>131446NARCtool
download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5zv359
syntax: narctool d infile.carc outfile.narc
>> Anonymous
>>131446
Also, Tahaxan will open a DS rom and let you browse its contents. It can open up the NARC archives and extract files out.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/629iu4
source: http://tahaxan.arcnor.com/

The sendspace download has all the required DLL's in it so you need not download all the crap from their site
>> Anonymous
>>131446
yeah, but it can't do the compressed narcs (carcs) all the mario kart data that I want to get at is in the carc files...
>> Anonymous
>>131454
This is why you get NARCtool, to decompress them
>> Anonymous
Also, Tahaxan will offer to decompress .CARC files when you extract them. NARCtool can unpack the narc files into a directory
>> Anonymous
>>131514
Well, it seems they don't want to extract NARCs with subfolders deeper than 1...
>> Anonymous
>>131611
That's odd, ask on the Tahaxan forums
>> Anonymous
So anybody made some progress on this?

did anything ever eventuate out of this? because i was thinking of cool models that should be built and i thought of altair from assassins creed, and with the ds game having a 3d altair, i thought it just might be possible
>> Anonymous
>>132161
If I had enough time to snoop around the assassin's creed rom, I would try and find that model, but even if I did, I wouldn't be able to make it into a papercraft
