Hi /po/, I have a question for you.

I'm a girl, and I like this boy who is a papercrafter too. Problem is, I'm really shy..
So boys of /po/, how would you feel having a papercrafting girlfriend? Would it be a plus, or does it just not matter?
>> Anonymous
That would be the worlds most amazing thing ever.
What's this lucky bastards name, and would you recognize if someone was just wearing his skin over themselves?
Seriously, try to get the average chick to not laugh at this hobby, it's damn hard.

this anon could not be closer to the truth. but in my opinion I would love to have my own family appreciate my papercrafting as an actual "hobby" rather than a "waste of free time" before i start worrying about friends and significant others doing the same.
>> Anonymous
I think it would be a plus because you 2 have something in common that you can both enjoy doing and talking about.

It's strange. I do mostly Origami, and people look at my giant modulars in awe. The few papercrafts I've done, people look at me like, "And....?"
It's very strange. I'd say go for it.

My family thinks it's pretty cool. My mom came over a couple weeks ago for the first time since I started papercrafting and I showed her my /po/ collection... She said her favorites were pink loli catgirl and Suigintou. I admire her taste :p

I started making Origami modulars like>>160205
but my family just gave me that look like "awwwe...isn't that nice" while looking as if they thought they had a "special" child, even when it got me extra credit in school. It just sucks to be 20 years old, making complex card models, and have almost everyone around me act as if I'm some immature middle schooler who couldn't let go of some childhood phase of my life. Absolutely no respect for the art.

in fact i just finished this the other day and all i got was a "hmmm...seems like a waste of paper to me" from my father, albeit, I know it's not the most complicated thing in the world.

go for it, when I brought my origami book into school, my girlfriend stole it and I haven't seen hide nor hair of it since, though she has shown me some of the ones she's made. anyways, back on track, just ask him out, guys sometimes dig the shy thing, and I'm sure he'd be lucky to be with a fellow /po/

My boyfriend (not a papercrafter) brags about having a girlfriend who has the hand-eye coordination to put together pieces of paper into complicated 3D shapes. (insert appropriate derogatory remark and excessive winking) However, he will never be interested in doing that sort of thing himself, and that's fine.

What your hobbies are shouldn't matter. You also shouldn't expect them to automatically like you just because they happen to share a hobby. That's not by necessity a good foundation for a relationship. Probably makes for some good introductions and small talk, but that's about it.

If you're really shy, that has nothing to do with papercraft. Work up the nerve to talk to him about it or GTFO. It's not as if we can do it for you. If you feel compelled to present some sort of pc for the sake of introducing yourself, you would know what to get him better than the rest of us would.

Conversely, if you find out that they're actually fervently opposed to your hobbies, then you need to decide if it's worth the effort to try to get them to understand why you like your hobby, or to just give them the axe and find someone who isn't going to be a roadblock.

That having been said, these threads are fucking pointless. Yeah, it's great that you want to share your hobby or see it as a way to expand your social horizons. That doesn't mean we have the magical papercraft relationship button.s

Shitty photoshopping aside, that thing is obviously powered by demonic sorcery and not just magic.

I prefer the panic button.

4chan is not a substitute for the fucking classified ads in your local paper. GTFO.

I've got a female friend that shares almost all my hobbies. She likes the papercrafts I do (I have even made some to her) but she isn't very good at doing this kind of things, so she doesn't even try.

Anyway, it's very nice to fin someone who likes your hobbies, so go ask that guy, and if he is clever enough he will marry you right there.

Male papercrafter/origamer here, for me it would be a big plus that my girlfriend was a papercarfter/origamer :]

That's one nerdy beanpole looking mofo man.

i imagine a guy that looks like that, and also does papercraft/origami would also be as demanding on expectations of his girlfriend. :)

i'm close, just don't quite have the chiseled abs. lol

I do papercraft, I'm a little muscular, but still my ex just freaked out everytime I showed her a papercraft
geez! you had to look at her face when I showed her the tehanu dragon that took me a whole week to complete, she had a face that made you think she was smelling a fart but not wanting you to know...
that's one of the reasons I left her, she also wanted me to wear abercrombie shirts and that kind of shit
"aaah! I can't understand you, you would look much better with something like that *grabs thight T-shirt*"
theres a problem: I live in Mexico... I don't actually look anything like the mexican stereotipe, but HELL i'd like to know a girl that likes papercrafts...
>>160198
talk to him, I actually like the shy girls (another thing why I left that ho...)

My girlfriend and I papercraft, we usually give each other little things that we make as gifts.

Its a plus to be able to share what you find with them and be proud of what they complete too, instead of the weird faces of "why did you waste your time with that?"

I'd love to find a guy that does papercraft as a boyfriend.
We could exchange little paper presents... ;w;

If I said that I had supplied tits in /b/ once, would that count?
>>160206
My boyfriend was surprised to find out that cat girl was 30 cm tall when completed. He hasn't done any papercraft yet, but he is interested in it. He wanted to do the loli cat girl because it was so cute. He tends to be pretty proud and supportive of the art that I do, including the things that also double as hobbies for some.

There are a lot of artists who do papercraft and origami for gallery exhibits. It's sculpture. Plus, paper is cheaper and weighs less to move from place to place, so if there's an exhibit that is moving from location to location, then paper is a nice way to make large sculptures without the weight or permanence of heavier materials like wood or metal.

just give him a papercrafted penis, he will know what's going on. it will be a winrar
>> dazed118
My boyfriend doesn't even try to understand why I do the projects I do. I needle point, cross stitch, papercraft, sequin art, draw, and latch hook. Trust me, if you like the guy, just ask him out. Hopefully, you have more in common than just a hobby.

I made a papercraft for my girlfriend for our anniversary. She thought it was awesome and showed it off to all our friends, who also liked it. Granted, it was the N64 logo, and we're all into gaming, but it was pretty sweet.

I get looks of confusion when I show people my papercraft collection, but if I make a pc of something a person likes (like their favorite animal or video game character) and give it to them as a gift (or part of a gift) they're suddenly gung-ho about my hobby and tell everyone about it.

So I think people are a lot more open to it once they realize that there are papercrafts of enough stuff at this point that pretty much anyone can find at least one they'll like, and that it's less about being a pretentious cut/paste asshole and more about having fun putting something together and enjoying it as a finished product.

My girlfriend tried it once and it didn't really work out. She used gloss paper and the glue wouldn't work on it, but she still thinks its cool and she doesn't think I'm weird for it.
