Wondering if anybody here was interested in industrial packaging/prototype packaging and if they would have anything worth sharing.

Anyone has any info on the mystical artefact depicted in OP's picture?
very cool....
Okay, I found this, spent some time thinking about, but I still don't know how to fold it and whether it makes that case in OP's pic.

jesus that pdf file is an absolute nightmare without instructions
Instructions:1. Draw on blue area2. Send to jakebox.com3. Send money to jakebox.com4. Wait by mailbox
Don't bother...it's shit. You're better off trying to just fold a sheet of paper and saving your few drops of ink.Now...for OP's cd case...I like it enough..that I'm going to try to build it.
I know how it's folded...I'm making instructions.
This also brings up a question as to what paper would be best for CD protection.Any thoughts?
>>91675Sandpaper.
>>91675There's a super smooth cardstock. I've only seen it in note cards and don't know what it's called really..but it's probably the best thing. And probably very expensive.I just finished building it. I need to upload pictures and make an instructions page.
http://rapidshare.com/files/60247922/papercdcase.zipDefinitely want to use card stock. It's 2 black sheets. Just a series of picture instructions and a text file to word it all.
>>91679Awesome, useful thing, but could anyone convert the measures to the metric system?
Very interested in packaging, though I have nothing to share ATM. bump for more?
>>91689Well..1in = 2.4cm1.5in = 3.6cm2in = 4.9cm3.5in = 8.6cm5in = 12.5cmI have a dual ruler. Most American rulers include both standard and metric, why don't yours?True conversion is 1in = 2.54cm I just did it by my ruler.

Okay, I made the case, but either I did something wrong or it sucks. There is nothing to hold he CD steady in place. Any photos of a finished case with a disc inside?
I mean really inside, because I tried putting it as shown on the last photo, but it keeps falling out.
>>91713You have to make sure the inside is glued right.I would take another picture for you. But it broke already.
There is a really easy way to make the inside with only one cut, and folding the rest. Also, this keeps the disc in because of how it's folded.

>>91908That would make it a little harder because the corners are all on the opposite ends of the paper. So you'd have to do it backwards. But still. Try it and take pictures.
>>91939What do you mean the corners are at the opposite ends? If you cut along the solid line, you can fold it up and it works flawlessly. I am pretty confident this is exactly how the real Jakebox is folded.
