Fellow /po/gosticks, my back aches because sitting in my chair with my spine all wonky makes it hurt. I can't do papercraft on the floor because poor lighting and two dachshunds constantly foiling my plans.

I sit on a sofa and use a very large cardboard box to set my cutting mat on. It is very comfortable.

Makes sense... I could even cut paper with a knife on that.
Thanks for the tip.

Anything that can be used as a portable table helps out; a cookie sheet or dinner tray comes to mind.

I use a self healing craft mat that is 8.5"x11" The one pictured is an A4 sized one. I just keep it in my lap with a book under it. That way I can sit on the couch and lean back, and since it's the size of the paper, it's easy to turn the whole thing, not just the paper.

yea i have one of those. when i read 'self healing' on the packet i thought 'yea right', but the cuts in the mat actually dissapear over time. its pretty impressive.

That looks superb..! Where did you get yours? I doubt any regular store around here sells those so I may have to resort to online purchase.

I have one of those mats as well; I've seen them at Wal-Mart and A.C. Moore; if you look up Fiskars on the net, you can find out their retailers internationally.
