Nice progress, I agree it would be too complex to make the bars really 3D, and simplifying them in a few straight pieces is good for modeling purposes.
When you build it, I can think you can make them follow the curve of the dome if you make them long enough; a straight line is shorter than a curved one, so they may end up a little bit too short and not mirror the curve of the dome exactly, but the best way to find that out is when you build it. But I think you already made them a little longer?
And I think you're planning on connecting the bars by sandwiching the flaps at the end between the center bar? Should work fine I think, good to see you working on a new model so fast again!

I don't think masamune's worthy of peasant, or even pheasant. Official forced meme of /po/, maybe.

I'd nominate myself for Princess since I'm an incessant whiner and constantly give people lectures (I'm the one who spams bitching designers and other masamunes with paragraphs of futile arguments) but I'm not a namefag and I've only made four or five models, none of which are really worth mentioning. I'm new to this forum and the first thing I see is chamoo making more awesome stuff. I scaled up some of your stuff last year for a halloween party! The hev suit turned out too big so I didn't end up wearing it but the grav gun turned out much better (orange'd it up a bit).
Suit:
http://img465.imageshack.us/img465/7683/hpim2597resizexc2.jpg

btw in the dl for the hev suit on your site both the h1 and h2 package only contain the hl1 blueprint, don't know if this was a mistake, I was hoping for the hl2-style suit at the time. Anyway cool seeing you here and keep up the awesome work, all of your stuff is great and the big daddy looks badass!

I should be finishing my Bon test build now, but sadly it seems as though I have managed to distract myself long enough to forget about it. I also have a Feldynaught and Gesellschaft model that is near completion. (the Gesellschaft model is really showing promise) However, even if I were to finish and post said crafts, they would just be forgotten about in the web of mass spamming. If the spamming continues for too long, then I will just post them anyway. But right now I'm going to see if I can't just wait this thing out like everyone else. I mean, even faggots get bored eventually, right? Also, this project is turning out beatifully. I just hope that I can make a little bit of progress before being distracted by a Big Daddy model. ;)

I'm just a begginer, and this will be way too complex to me. But, hey! It's Big Daddy! Will probably be the first complex thing I will do.
This or Pyramid Head.
>> splitsticks
Figured I should use a name while posting^

To chamoo, the suit I made is actually the hl1 suit, but I believe it had the hl2 texture on it. You can tell it's hl1 because of the raised and pointed shoulders. The hl2 suit slopes down to the shoulders from the neck in a smooth line and cuts off cleanly.

Oh and to the guy asking how I did the grav gun, I wish I could provide the template I made but between a new computer, reformatting my laptop, and moving files all around I lost it. If I remember right what I did was take a bunch of printscreens of the pages on adobe (zoomed in to make sure they're large enough) and reassembled them in paint. I then manipulated the pieces so they fit neatly on each page. I do remember that the round front part of the grav gun fit perfectly onto an 8.5x11 paper, just barely clipping off the edges maybe a millimeter on each size, if that helps you get an idea of the scale of it. I made it orange with some color tweaking in gimp.

If I do find my template I'll post it but I've been looking for it for a while with no luck.

Oh and one last thing: OMG THE BIG DADDY LOOKS EVEN MORE AWESOME EACH DAY! Ok I'm done, had to get that out. :) I'm really thinking about scaling up this one as well and turning it into a cardboard big daddy suit, wearing my hockey gear to bulk it up a bit. Now I just have to learn to paint...
>> chamoo232
>>183948
yeah the HEV suits papercrafts use the same 3d model. only different textures. I made it before I knew how to make my own 3d models
>> Anonymous !bgREVLN8FU
Hey, Chamoo, what exactly is wrong with the D0g template? It seems fine, if you were able to build it.
>> Anonymous
>>183952
she was able to build it beacuse is her own papercraft, the models has more than 150 parts and we can't build it by ourselves without instructions, and the pdo files doesn't help too much. so expect the complete template for christmas.
>> Anonymous !bgREVLN8FU
>>183976
Uhh, Chamoo's roommate? Cool.
>> Notlaw
>>183930
I guess that the question isn't "will I make Teisl", its more of a "can I get over my A.D.D.-ishly short attention span long enough to finish Teisl. A few months back I posted a couple of models with the promise that I would release a large collection of them, all from Megaman Legends. This was before I saw how amazingly fucked some of the textures are, depending on how you rip them. But as for the megaman model, I already have him ripped and a test build started... but I didn't finish it because of some problems with the 3d model. What is worse, when I found how to fix the dreaded "red line problem" in sketchup, I found that doing so caused some funkyness in the pdo. If I do get around to fixing all this crap, though, then Teisl will likely be the first on the list to be made. The main problem with him is his hair. Moral of the story: I need to learn to make my own 3d models instead of ripping them and dealing with all this tech-crap. :(

>>183979
Wait, that title is already taken? GOD FUCKING DAMN IT, I'M TOO LATE!!! (*picture of rage face*)
>> chamoo232
     File :-(, x)
>>183952
I spent 2 week working on the 3d model and yet I still needed the pdo and the 3d model in sketchup to do the final assembly of dog. its that complicated to assemble. like the right elbow. its connected to the arm with 8 tiny cylinder each with a very specific angle at the tip. glue them at the wrong place or position and u just screwed the whole arm position. and since dog stand on 2 leg and 2 arms u cant screw any limp position or you get a fucked up position where 1 feet doesnt stand flat on the ground and so on. its an extremely complex model. half the pieces look like simple shapes but they need to be glued at a very specific place in a very specific angle.

...why is it that looking at this thread is like looking at an N64 port of Bioshock?
>> GoblinGuy
>>184649
Because models need to have a low-polygon count or else they'll be too hard to build.
>> Anonymous
>>184649
Why? because no matter what she does there is always going to be someone complaining. If she did a high poly one, people would bitch it's too hard to build. If she does a low poly one, people will bitch it's too simple. So she does the models SHE wants to see, not what everyone else wants, a bonus is we get to follow along with her progress and get to build them ourselves. I'd rather have an easy to build effective looking model than a super detailed, pull your hair out "that was a pain in the ass" build.

the model is finished and textured. for something I build from scratch i'm quite happy with the final look and the texturing was easier than I expected. 1031 polygons in 86 groups. a lot better than D0g's 4446 polygons in 150 groups.

I know you use a a program to create a 3d model then run it through another to unwrap it but..
Can anyone tell me what are the best programs to use for both processes?
>> Dai
>>185390

I use 3ds Max to create my models, but I know other people use programs like Maya, Google Sketchup, and some others. it all depends on what program is easiest... or cheapest, (see:sketchup).

as for turning it into a papercraft, there are two options-

•you can find the program "Pepakura" that does most of the work for you (there are other programs, but this is the most common)

•you can be crazy like some people and do the "Pure" thing by learning to "Vector Engineer". These people hate the living daylights out of pepakura users for some reason.

I don't see what the big deal is, aside from wasting time.

Welcome to 4chan. /b/ raids are inevitable, but the more you try to resist, the more fun they will have. So rest assured they will go out of their way to destroy your "growing community" of 20 members.

/po/ already has an archive and a wiki. There are also quite a few blogs out there that repost everything posted on /po/.
Forums containing large communities of papercrafters also exist, therefore, your efforts are quite unnecessary.

>>185648made a lot of good points, although I don't believe it's not necessary for you to create your own board. If that's something you want to do that's your choice, but don't start attacking /po/eple here for there decision to remain instead of joining your board. If you do you will just be lowering yourself to /b/ troll status and that doesn't seem to be your intention.
>> dai
>>185651

that isn't me, FYI. He's attacking me, if anything, and is just proving the point for making the site.

>>185648
I am aware of the existing wiki (I used the same board technology to create the new one), and am VERY aware there are already large sites dedicated to the same cause.

the whole thing is being designed to work as an offset of /po/ that allows people who are primarily from here to continue acting as a collective community, instead of going off and joining a board they have no control over, and have little say in.

also, 21 members in a period of (now) 15 hours is proof in itself that others believe this is worth it.

Did you mean: Diorama?

Anyway, i prefer the stand! A Diorama does always have a preferred direction to look at. And it takes more space on the shelf. The stand makes the model look like it comes from the game but you can walk around and see it from different angles.
>> chamoo232
>>186117
ya I think so too. the "scene" I made wouldnt work in paper anyway. it would need some support for the walls. the floor tile on the stand is good enough to give the feeling of a scene of the game. ill work on finding even better textures for the sides. im not quite happy yet with the red metal and black corners. a little sister hiding behind his leg would be awesome too but I dont have the texture sheet for her and I dont know how to rip them

Damn straight, we do. This is too epic to wait for for much longer.
>>I want to turn it into a halloween costume
Sorry, I'm sure you saw this comming but: There are so many reasons why that won't work. First off, Chamoo never releases a pdo of her works, just a pdf. This means that you can't scale the model up at all. Next, Even if she did release a pdo, the textures of a 10 inch model aren't exactly going to go well when blown up to a nearly 6-foot tall suit. (depending on how tall you are.) And last: You can't really wear a paper suit and expect it to last for longer than 30 seconds of walking around. Even if you used that spray-on fiberglass stuff, (or whatever that stuff is) it still wouldn't work. But not all hope is lost: I HAVE AN IDEA! Here is what you should do: have Chamoo post this>>182027, then use this for referance to build your suit out of other materials. As long as you are a master with clay, fiberglass, ect. then you should be able to build this no problem. If you aren't, however, then you are screwed to the highest degree. But there is still one thread of hope: you can still wait untill a cosplaying website releases a tutorial on how to make a big daddy suit. Then, you can use some of your thousands of dollars gathering materials, and you can spend hundreds of hours of your free time building it... All before next month. Oh yeah, and don't forget da pics. (P.S. You are, in realitly, screwed.)

I already lifesize'd the hl1 hev suit.>>182691
I just copy the images from the pdo into paint or gimp using only the outlines and fold lines, then scale it up. Those are then printed onto a SHITTON of pieces of standard paper. The margins of those papers are then removed and the papers are all aligned and taped together. The papers are then cut out to form the patterns to be used with a much studier material, such as cardboard. Once the patterns are traced onto cardboard it is cut out, scored meticulously, then assembled just as a usual papercraft would be. In fact the pieces fit together extraordinarily well when scaled up. The whole thing would then have to be painted. My cardboard hev suit chest piece turned out surprisingly sturdy, people were whacking the shit out of with their swords (halloween party) and it never gave a bit.

The cloth sections of the suit would all have to be done with actual cloth, and I would have to use plywood for the bottoms of the boots and other sections. The only problem I think would be that the proportions of a big daddy aren't really in line with a normal person's... it'd probably have a terrible range of motion on the legs and you probably wouldn't be able to straighten out your neck at all.

Ok, you've turned me :)

new texture for the stand. I still don't know witch logo I prefer so I might include both. the lil sister is done toomy first idea was to make her behind the big daddy's leg as if she was hiding whole holding his leg but I would have needed to make the stand bigger and her arms would have been complicated to pose.

>> Notlaw
>>186270
Oh... wow. I really didn't think about that. And so the head/helment and upper body would be made of cardboard and such? For some reason, I had trouble visualizing that. Well, then, your idea may not be such a long shot after all. But do us all a favor, splitsticks- please take pictures of the process as you are building it. You could wait to release them after Halloween if you wanted. If you were to write a tutorial on this, it would be amazing. That is, if you finish it. Also, If you still have that Half Life costume, I'd like to see some more pics. :)
>>186284
That there is a whole lot of awesome. And I don't mean to bring this up too soon, but have you considered making the Rosie version? (It was named Rose or Rosie, or something like that) Anyway, I wish you good luck in Pepakura. :)
>> chamoo232
>>186345
nah the rosie model doesn't look cool enough. and I have other plans for my next project

That pose is rather boring. What would be epic is if you posed the bouncer with its drill raised while holding a sploicer, like the first time you saw one in the game.

Hey chamoo232, what do you use for renders in sketchup, or are those screenshots? When I use textures in sketchup and try to do a render, they get all screwy.

Chamoo, what do you have slated as your next project? PLEASE TELL ME IT'S A ROSIE MODEL.

WWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT?????????? NOT "COOOOL" ENOUGH???? HOW DARE YOUR INSULT MAH ROSIE!!!!!!?????????? ........ I'll let this outrage slide for now since you did such a good job on the bouncer model.
>>186213
Hey, !TeaKPa/j1., are you still around? If so, could you rip the super- detailed Rosie model to go along with the Bouncer that we have now? I need it for a project of mine.
>>186457
Nope, Chamoo doesn't think Rosie looks "Cool" enough. (Which is okay, since her Bouncer model is so epic) I want me some Rosie as well. :(

'scuse me for asking, but how exactly are you "letting it slide?" You using your internet superpowers to give us a break? Don't hold back, man; be my guest, show us all a thing or two.

Or quit being a faggot; either one is fine.

B-bawwwwww...
I want a Rosie model because IMHO it is the coolest and I already have a resin Bouncer from the special edition.
>> chamoo232
>>186398
im not sure by what you mean by render. I just use print screen in sketchup to do the images I post. sometimes I disable the lines and smooth the shapes

>>186457
no rosie in my plans sorry. I was thinking of maybe trying to do Daxter after i'm done with big daddy
>> Notlaw
>>186477
I was joking... I won't do it again

Chamoo, you should start to learn a professional 3d software. Google sketchup is probably very limiting, and since you have talent, it would definitely benefit you to have a software to meet your potential.
>> chamoo232
>>186512
it could help making better texturing but its too much trouble to learn for me

here is what happen if I set the total size to 10 inch tall. not bad. I might be able to make it about 10 pages when ill set my own cut lines

Rendering (computer graphics), is the process of producing an image from a higher-level description of its components{Taken from Wikipedia definition}. For example this first image was rendered from Sketchup using IDX renditioner express free plugin, he model was downloaded fromthe 3d warehouse (not mine) I just used a Lamborghini wallpaper as a background, the second image that I will post is just me using printcreen of the same model, just to show you the difference. Here is a link to the plugin if you want to try it out. Just download and put the file in your plugin folder in your install directory then look under toolbars on startup, you'll see a new toolbar for it.

and the one using print screen, as you would probably agree using a renderer can give you superior results. Not that there is anything wrong with the way you do yours or anything, I just thought I would explain since you didn't know what a render was. Keep up the good work, I love seeing you post new updates;D
>> chamoo232
>>186526
not bad but that car pic seem to do the same as I do in sketchup. hide the lines, smooth the faces and add shadow

>> chamoo232

yes the metal bars are flat paper as well as the red wheel on the tank and the wingnuts on the torso

The Little Sister kind of creeps me out, probably because A.) The head is friggin' huge, and B.) She has no knees. At least it's optional. I'll just wait for the more detailed model. Plus, I always thought the dress was pink. Must have been the lighting...

Also, Chamoo, a possible solution for the display could be to take the sheets and cut them into triangles in Pepakura. It'd look sloppy, but it would fit.
>> chamoo232
>>186830
had to make her head big or else it would have been hard to make. and there is many little sisters with many color of dress. some even have different hair color

Yeah, that's the one. I'll just wait for you to release the pdo (just this once?) and I'll edit the texture. Or, you could put the different Little Sisters on different pages, and we can choose which ones to print out.

There's an option for that, right?
