/PO/OPERS!!!!
just dropping by to tell you something REALLY IMPORTANT

finally!!!
I Found some really good things, and if no one else do them I will, but if somebody get on the work please tell me, to not to be 2 (or more) people working on the same things...
ok, this is it:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/
this is a searcher for google sketchup, of already made models!!!
already found:
a set of link weapons (including >master sword, FINALLY!
kami palace
Terran Wraith (really good)
Jack (I don't know if we had it already, but we surely have now)
what do you think? I'm already unfolding the buster sword... I STRONGLY RECOMEND YOU TO START DIGGING THAT PAGE AND SUBMITTING MORE PAPERCRAFTS HERE! lets make /po/ a better place... (obviously, without all those weighted cube threads...)

hope to have made all of you happy with this valuable information!!! (just in case that you didn't knew it already...)

and by the way, if somebody of you don't know wtf to do to the models, open them with sketchup, export them as google earth 4 and open them wit pepakura designer, fix them and share them!!!

wut?!?!?

The problem with sketchup models is that they're usually WAY too high of a polycount.

Now before you say "you can just simplify it", yeah, you can, but it would still have an extremely large amount of faces.
>> Anonymous
whoa, google just got even more useful, giving it an official awesome level way over 9000.
>> Anonymous
That's great but these models often have retardedly high and unnecessary poly counts.
>> Anonymous
> to not to be 2 (or more) people working on the same things...
That might actually be a good thing, so that people that want to build it, can choose. Often somebody makes something, but it's actually kinda crappy to build, and then it's all "don't complain, you need to worship me for making it!!"

Can someone translate that post?

I'm going to go ahead and say "duh".

ZOMG!! I just came...

What kind of paper do u ppl use for these things?
>> Anonymous
>>95601
Most people use cardstock, but people use different kinds:
160-200 gsm (grams per square meter) or 90-110 lbs for th US.
Every store that can get regular printer paper (80 gsm or 45 lbs) for you can also get cardstock for you if you ask nicely. But it's usually more expensive, which could be a reason to use normal paper. If you take your time, cardstock is no more difficult to fold and work with than regular paper.
>> Anonymous
>>95603
No. Most /po/ users use normal paper. Use cardstock if you have it, or if a model is floppy with normal paper, which isn't often.
>> Anonymous
>>95609
Mine don't come out floppy, they're more CD.
>> Anonymous
>>95609
We get it.
You use normal paper.
Now stop telling us every time again and again when somebody says something about using cardstock.
>> Anonymous
>>95609
For the first few (simple) models I made I used normal paper too, because I didn't have cardstock and I didn't feel like getting it. But then I decided I was gonna try it once and no offense, but it really makes A LOT of difference. So I'm gonna stick with it from now on. I don't know the exact gsm though, it was on the package but I threw that away.

I'll translate it, but since I'm mexican I hope that you mean "to spanish":

/PO/pers!
solo pasaba para decirles algo muy importante:

por fin!
encontre unas cosas muy buenas, y si nadie las hace yo las haré, pero si alguien se pone manos a la obra por favor avísenme (para no estar dos o mas personas trabajando en lo mismo)...
ok, ésto es:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/

If you have a model with no exposed edges, cardstock all the way.

The more raw edges your model has, the more white you'll have showing if you use cardstock; invest in a bunch of colored pencils or felt-tip markers if you make a lot of models in cardstock.

I'll construct everything in paper first, then redo it in cardstock if I like the results enough to want to keep it, then give the paper copy away to someone who doesn't know better.

Just watch out for models that are highly complex or have really small parts; with cardstock, you may NOT want to precrease the tabs, and if you have a .pdo file, you may want to tell it to print with the option shown on -- the extra thickness of the paper throws off the pattern slightly, and the extra color can save you from having a white seam.

would it be "nicer" if i used glossy paper?
>> Anonymous
Glossy paper can crack, is harder to have glue adhere to, and ends up actually being floppier than standard printer paper. Only use glossy paper if you're confident that you can make it work for that particular model... and if you're willing to be wasting it and the ink you use on it if it catastrophically fails.
