1:1 plasma cutter Schofield Tools
Our classic plasma cutter has become A mainstay in the tool kits of planetary engineers. This plasma cutter combines power and reliability in A portable package.

With A quarter meter blade. The cutter uses superheated ionized gas to form A powerful cutting charge. Suitable for any industrial application.

For maximum flexibility switches between horizontal and vertical cutting modes.

Class H operator license required. Use in conjunction with mining survival suit (level 3 and military helmet coming soon) ^_^

GIVE ME THE LINK DAMMIT YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BADLY I NEED THIS
>> Schofield Tools
It's not done yet, I'm still working on it. Should be done pretty soon though, then I'm going to do the helmets, not sure which ones though. Probably all of them seems how they're just variations of the same basic structure, except for the military helmet. Glad you like it though.

You bet I do! How are you making this anyway, completely by reference photos or did you somehow get the model from the game? "Schofield tools", awesome.

using photos as reference, thought about trying to rip it from the pc game, but it only came out today and didn't feel like waiting till I got A hold of it. The way I model is I draw out the basic shape, then refine it, then break it down into sub-assemblies for easy building. Maybe I'll come up with A simple tutorial on my modeling style, it's actually very easy with sketchup(anybody can do it) With any luck it should be ready for unfold in A few days. Hopefully I'll be able to use the image as A texture (I suck at creating good looking textures)

Oh, dur! Thought maybe it was some type of fictional gun or something. I decided to do two versions, 1static and 1 moveable from horizontal to vertical. The moveable version I am modeling after A pic I found where the gun looks different, I'll post the pic to see what I'm talking about. I'm going to try to keep them as simple as possible.

This version will turn, but will be alot simpler than the one that doesn't. Modeling is done for the most part, just need to finish the textures. Does anybody want to A white test build of the moving version once I'm done unfolding? It's about 50% unfolded now.
>> Schofield Tools
Hopefully it should be unfolded by tomorrow, providing I can actually bring myself to stop playing Gears Of War 2 for awhile.LOL

Unfolding almost done on plasma cutter. In the meantime decided to start on the helmet, just A prelim shape at the moment as I'm about 10-15 mins into it.

hmm... could I suggest you work on the mask using reference photos from the game? That custom mask in the picture really doesn't have the right proportions.

Can you post some pics of what your talking about. It really shouldn't be that different I believe, but I have been known to be wrong. LOL

I'm using this pic of A custom helmet as reference, I have seen the black one for PS3, I think it's the same only A different color. I'm going to do the military helmet too, and may do the other level helmets as well that way everyone can choose the one that suits them best.

Alright, this is the process I use to rip from mainly PC games. First download this software.

http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm

Second, obviously you need the pc game you want to rip from, usually I download the demo if I can't find A torrent or just don't want to download an entire game.

Third, when you have both installed. You open up 3dripper dx and under Direct x 9 application to analyze, select the .exe of the game you want to rip, then select folders that you want everything to be saved in, then just click launch. When the game is running and the model you want to capture is on screen hit the F12 key to capture. You know it's working when you see "capturing, may take up to 5 minutes to complete" in the top left. Forgot to mention you know the program will work when you start the application and see "ready to capture" in the top left, if you don't see that it won't work. Also some games you have to use the "global system monitoring" in order for it to work, Bioshock pc game for example was this way. Hope this helps.

It doese a little, thanks. I actually have the Black suit unlocked, it's a level 5 suit and it looks a little different than the one you're building.

The picture is crap, but this is what the front looks like, sort of, I'm sure if you looked around though you could find better reference material.

Thanks, I like the look of that one. I was actually just looking for some good reference material, but all I can find is this one. I would really like to do this one too if I can find good enough reference.

Hey no problem, I'm glad you like it. I have been following your thread and am loving what your doing, My main interest is life size props from movies and games. Modeling on helmet is done, just got to do the unfold.

>>193652

I noticed the plasma cutter just looked like it was missing something so I am going to edit it when I am done with unfolding the helmet. Should be A few days, don't worry I'm not trolling I'll deliver. LOL

Helmet unfolding done. Got it down to 30 pages, I'm not going to be adding textures to this one as 30 pages would drain an ink cartridge. I'll upload as soon as I test build it to make sure nothing needs changed, got it all printed and gonna start on it this afternoon. On A side note, just got my acceptance e-mail to the Resistance 2 beta today, so I'll try to get this done before I start playing.
>> chapsy !Y0hTXM4Bhc
>>193988
um...if it's not too much trouble, wold you mind including the option to put textures on it?
I print off big projects all the time, and these parts don't look too big(I can see this using a lot of red and black though.)
just a request, if it's too much trouble that's cool.
>> Schofield Tools !CczEY9.Ud.
>>194027

I'll see what I can do. The problem is that I can't create textures from scratch to save my life. If you can find A decent texture that you want me to use I can apply it the 3d model, and I'll release A textured one with the white one( I can't promise I'll unfold that one though) Took me awhile to unfold this one and don't feel like doing it again. If I try to apply A texture to the white one it ends up applying it to every individual face.
>> chapsy !Y0hTXM4Bhc
>>194033
oh right. I forgot that you made this thing from scratch lol.
maybe flat colors? it wouldn't fit the "style" properly, but it'd at least have some color.

Just beat the game and I can't wait for the plasma cutter! If you want to make the rotating cutter you should check out the new Isaac Clarke Dev Diary on gametrailers. It has a very good closeup of the deployed plasma cutter in both vertical and horizontal orientation. I like the closed up plasma cutter though, better to use as a prop and probably much easier to papercraft.

I did one better, I ripped the plasma cutter from the game, the textures aren't ripping properly though. I am only using this one as reference, I am going to play through the game on my pc(which may take a while considering the controls are horrid) and am going to rip all of the suits and weapons and maybe even an Isaac and some Necromorph models as well.

>> Schofield Tools !CczEY9.Ud.
Sorry guys, haven't been able to work on this the past few days. Myself and my 7 month old son have had a nasty sinus infection and are just starting to feel better. All I've built up is the front pieces to the helmet and haven't done any modeling. Gonna do some serious modeling on the plasma cutter tonight and try to have it done by tomorrow.

Plasma cutter modeling is done. Gonna do the unfold today, I'll probably just upload the cutter and the helmet even though I haven't finished the test builds yet. Next is the Pulse Rifle and military helmet.

And where are all the comments! Dead space fans get in here!

Alright guys here is the level 3 helmet and the plasma cutter, both life size and the plasma cutter changes from vertical position to horizontal position. No textures because I suck at creating textures and I planned on resining them anyway, maybe in the future i will texture them. Moving on to life size pulse rifle and military helmet next. Hope you guys like it and I would love to see some build pics.

abolustely badass.

for the coloring, the helmet is mostly a copperish color, right?
and for those of us not used to using resin, would thickening it up with some krylon work before primering and painting?

I would really love somebody to make textures for both models to make them more realistic.

Would somebody consider the doing this?
