There are two color schemes in wide use today, RGB and CMYK. RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue, and is used mostly for computer monitors and other screens.
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. This is the color scheme used for printing. Most images online are kept in RGB color mode, even though they're meant for printing. This creates some color variations when sent to a printer, especially when some RGB colors simply can't be printed in CMYK.
As for the cartridge, your friend needs to buy a new one now. The problem is that you and your friend know there is cyan in the yellow section, but the printer and computer don't. Also, I don't know if you would be able to flush out the cartridge well enough to not have color contamination, but to also not mess up the contacts of the cartridge or any other component.
You can find pictures on Google of the CMYK color scheme to figure out the yellow necessary to print solid. The yellow is pretty close to the color of Link's hair in your pic, actually.
