the tub lady papercraft Anonymous
Hello all, been workin on this one since that post of the other one and the fail at getting templates. I am working on this right now. THe poly count needs a bit of work. Although the poly count is fairly low. The head will be the only difficult part of the build. But i would rather it be a bit difficult and look good rather than the paper footbal nose on so many of the anime papercraft ladies. Should I make the water soild and cut the body off, or should i have the whole body to build and use printable overhead with a bubble pattern on it for water?

A person can always cut off the good bits, if he is so inclined... and gay...

FULL Body no and's if's or but's( not to be confused with BUTTS)lol

whatever you all want here is the UNTESTED, UNTEXTURED, no instructions for the papercraft.

Well, I haven't tried it yet (I'm not gonna either, sorry, but I'm as short on time as you are... ;) but I took a quick look and I'd say any testbuilders is definately gonna need the pdo so they can look at the 3D... It's some complex papercraft you mad there... ;) Now you may not like the "boxer's nose" on those anime models (that was you, right? ;) but they do that because if you want to preserve all facial features and details, the papercraft will be very difficult to build... As I'm guessing you're finding out now. ;)

Anyway: I also have some remarks regarding the tub. Some of the folds look more like origami than actual papercraft. I'll add a pic of what I mean. There's a change from mountain folds to a valley fold right in the middel of a sequence, without any cuts. Now, you fold the paper to make certain shapes by changing the direction of the surface of the paper. To do that, you cut one part, fold the other part and glue the tab to hold it in place (difficult to explain what I mean in words). Maybe some of the fold lines should be deleted? I'm guessing they're not actual fold lines, but you drew these because 3D models work with triangles and rectangles and it's actually one flat surface. I don't know without knowing what part it is.

Another thing (but this is something for the final finishing touches, when you corrected everything else) is the placing of the glueing tabs.
I think you didn't really bother looking at that yet, and like I said: it's one of the last things you do, so that's fine for now, but I'm gonna mention it anyway already.
On the small parts, there are a lot of glueing tabs that would be better placed at the opposite sides. You should make sure the glueing tab isn't bigger than the part that needs to be glued to this glueing tab. You can make the tabs smaller in Pepakura, or place them on the opposite side (even better) like in the crappy MS Paint example I made.

So I'm not trying to bitch here, but you want feedback, you're gonna get it. ;) At first glance I think you still need to do a lot of work, but I think you know that already. ;) I suggest you wait for people to finish testbuilding your design till now and collect all their remarks before making changes, or you might have to change any changes you make and do double work... ;)

Don't give up, designing a papercraft takes far longer than building one, but many people will enjoy it.

i appreciate your comments and look forward, I have made several papercrafts before most of which i was commishioned (i can't spell and too lazy for spell check) to do. I did no more than make the 3d model and very roughly create an unfold pattern in pepakura. I know there is lots of work to be done and appreciate any and all feed back so i can make this a good papercraft.

got any examples of the work you were commissioned to do?
I mean just pictures of the finished works, 'cause I'd understand you couldn't post the templates here. Would be like breaking your own windows. ;)
