MATTE photopaper is fine; it's particularly good if you use the sort that matches your printer - Epson Stylus printers have pre-settings for matte. I'm in the UK, so I use 160 gsm, but you can get 230gsm I think.
I found ***MATTE*** photopaper of better construction that the Card-stock I could get in the local craft shops. Cuts are cleaner, the ink takes to it well and so it should if you're using paper designed for your printer.
It glues excellently as well.
Don't use the glossy, the glossy is shit, as the rest of the thread says. To repeat for their benefit, MATTE photopaper IS NOT gloss. MATTE photopaper is like high-quality card.
