Dear /po/, I am a huge noob

All the models I'd like to make have waaaay too many parts, where should I begin?

Which programs do you use? What models did you start with? How do you go about putting textures on them? What other help can you give a newbie?

I have pepakura and I'm trying to import the simplest models I can from wowmodelviewer, and even they're giving me a message that it's gonna take forever to build =( Still trying to figure out how to get textures over.

<3 Thanks

I assume you mean you are a noob at creating papercraft from 3D models, not a noob at building the papercrafts. Anyways, I have not used pepakura to design anything, so I don't know what I'm talking about, but try to get the hang of simplifying the faces to a constructable parts page. A lot of it is tinkering around until you get a suitable design.

If you are looking for simple models, try creating some simple geometric models like spheres and toruses and try to simplify them to a buildable paper model.

I don't have pep either but have seen several threads saying much the same thing... To make the design "realistic" like the imported image it often has a high polygon count. you can decrease the polygon count, but the more you do the more "hako-like" your finished product is going to be. I believe most people don't recommend going much below 600 or so on your poly count unless you want your model to look like road kill.
Texturing I have no idea on, hope the info helps you a bit.

What program do you use? and how do you go about lowering the poly count? (I assume it's in the program)

I already make a papercraft of that model. Look it up.

Shortcut mode: Have you tried just using WC3 models?

hey Ted, send me an email, i might have something to talk about with you.

and Hobikit's already doing the WC3 models.

and OP, textures have to be JPG and use Milkshape3D to fix them, just convert the model to a obj.
