3d model done. ill try to remove as much polygons as I can to make it easier to build without changinf the look of it too much. I already changed the teeths on the sides of the jaws so each one is 3 polygons only instead of 6 like I first did them.

Note to self : sharpen fingers. A lot.

With all the focusing on the teeth and how to make those so they'll be buildable, I think you "messed up" the proportions of the head a little. In the reference picture, the head goes from high at the front, to less high at the back. I think you made the back of the jaw a bit too high, so on your model it's equally high at the front and back.
Notice how I put "messed up" between quotations marks, because I awe at your 3D modelling skills; I can do nothing like it (except nitpicking).

wtf there are no female modellers on the internet! :O
>> Anonymous
Haha holy crap! How big do you expect this thing to be?
>> chamoo232
>>45083
thats point of view the way the left head is turned to the left looking toward the camera giving it the illusion of the head being smaller than the jaw. the heads are fine. I didnt used the exact same pose as the reference pic because since im doing the model for myself first I also decided where I will put it in my room and and this position is better. u can also noticedI raised the tail up.
>> chamoo232
>>45104
probably the same dimensions as Ray. 7inch tall. only the teeths will be small to make the body is big pieces. but even the small teeths should be easy since its only 3 triangles

Uhh... Is that Cerberus from Venture Brothers? Eerily akin to their illustration... Or should I say, Argo?
>> Anonymous
>>45128
Looks more like the Cerberus from Kingdom Hearts, which was taken originally from the Disney adaption of Hercules.
>> Anonymous
what is that?
>> chamoo232
>>45128
>>45129
it is indeed the kingdom heart model based on the disney hercule movie.

3246 polygones for the final 3d model. but it dont seem that much if I use natural curving instead of folding for the body
>> M.
>>45173
I like the smoothness.
Just a thought regarding the teeth : would you feel bad making them just basically shapes instead of 3-dimensional, like the old Canon T-Rex's teeth ? http://cp.c-ij.com/english/3D-papercraft/science/tyrannosaurus-rex_e.html

Chamoo
I'm looking forward to another of your excellent models. Are you ripping these from the game yourself, and if so how?
>> chamoo232
>>45196
im not planning to make a small or easier version. im not even sure ill make a releasse for it. ill see how hard and how long it take me to build it. I though vivi was fairly easy to assemble but many told me I was wrong. if I think cerberus is hard its kinda useless to waste time on making a releasse if people download it but no one build him
>> chamoo232
>>45198
I searched alot for a model ripper but all I found is a model viewer. but it was enough to be able to redo the model in sketchup since I could see it under every angle. original model has 4990 polygons. mine is 3200 or so
>> Anonymous
i would definately build this if you released it, and im not saying that, i would sit down and build it in one sitting, also ^.^ thanks for making the teeth awesome instead of just simple 2d ones
>> Anonymous
>>45202
Which viewer did you use?
>> Anonymous
>>45117
Well obviously, I disagree with you: by basically making the upperjaw and lowerjaw run parallel and the "back" of the jaw at a 90 degree angle, you create a very "square", boxy looking head... It doesn't have the "tension/power" it could have and that I see in the reference picture (it's more than just the "different angle" I think). But hey: you say you're happy with the design, and that's all that really matters of course! At this stage, I can imagine you wouldn't take a step back again and change the design.

>>45200
It's different for all people. Some can build anything, others can't. Vivi (your only model I built, so I can't comment on any others) had good parts (the hands were easy to build, while they're often the most difficult parts) and some difficult parts (especially the neck, where you seemed to delete some fold lines that you shouldn't have: deleting fold lines for a smoother look doesn't always work when working with polygon models unfortunately). And it's often the way the model maker cuts up the parts: for instance I would've done the shoes different (by cutting them up like you did, almost every polygon needs to be cut out seperately; not necessarily difficult, just more work).

Anyway: this one will be difficult to build I think, but if anyone can do it, then it's the designer of the model that knows how to fold every little nook and cranny. ;) I'm positive it will look great in your room!

>>45200
I will build him no matter what. A full cartridge of black ink is overrated!
>> chamoo232
>>45306
well mayyyybe I could releasse the pdo once im done that could be used to instructions. I feel like even myself I will need to do that to assemble it. the time it will take to build will be worse than the actualy difficulty of parts
>> chamoo232

I finished telling pepakura all theplaces I want to be cutted. now I need to take the mess it give me and sort the parts and make a template lol
>> Anonymous
omfg the parts

THEY'RE EVERYWHERE
>> chamoo232
>>45327
hehe its not so bad. once I sort the head parts on theyr own sheet and set the teeths in order it will be clear. it will probably even be less than 9 pages. 9 pages is what pepakura gives me when I input 25cm for the size but I have no idea if its the from ground to top or tail to head mesure.
>> Anonymous
>>45325
I think my only concern would be all those little 3-4 polygon pieces, but I guess they're unavoidable for the most part.

Looking forward to the finished template :3
>> chamoo232
>>45332
im planning to have the teeth about the same size as Vivi's thumb. and the way I splited them now they wont be 3 parts. only 2 folded in the middle with tabs to join the third pard stuck to the inside of the mouth
>> Anonymous
>>45327
Hahahaha, that seriously got me laughing for a few minutes. Thanks, I haven't laughed that hard for a while.
>> chamoo232
     File :-(, x)
each head is 1 page and a whole page of teeths. once the body is placed on sheets ill need to check every glue tabs and after that... build it...
>> Anonymous
>>45329
The Size you input in Pepakura is from the lowest part (in this case, that would be the bottom of the feet) to the highest part (in this case that would be the tip of the tail? or maybe the heads are still higher? but you know what I mean)
If the teeth are as big as Vivi's thumb, they're actually about 6 times as big as the teeth on Ninjatoe's Wolf Link model, and that one was big... Mind you, the head on Wolf Link is totally different from this cartoony looking head (here, the teeth make up most of the head, while on Wolf Link, the teeth are only a small part of the head) so the size and scale could still be right. In fact, now that I think of this, I'm sure it is.

hey chamoo232 is this model harder to make then dog from hl2 or is dog harder

make bust of dog and plate that the bust is ona
then it just the uper body you make in simpler version or make other figur like the scientist or gman
>> chamoo232
>>45443
dog would/will be a hell lot harder since on cerberus only the teeths are detailed parts. on dog all the pieces are complicated and hard to do andI will have a hell lot of work to do on the 3d model and then aply the textures again. its on my idea list but its not my priority for now. I want to finish cerberus then finish my new heartless and possibly make another hearthless
>> digerman3
but is it hard to just make upper body of dog as bust not all of dog
>> chamoo232

>>45510
if I make dog I will make the whole body not just the head and torso

here is what my cerberus template look like now... 15 pages... eek.
>> digerman3
why not if the bust is good then make rest of the body
>> chamoo232
>>45514
dog is a very complicated model. id like to make him but hes not on my priority list

>>45523
Is he more complicated than Cerby here? I can't really see that it would be. Just checking incase you ever do it, I would LOVE to make Dog.
>> chamoo232

HL2 models have over 7000 polygons. that give a good idea how much work it migh be to clean D0g. for now I focus on cerberus. im fixing all the tabs and ill even try to build 1 head tonight

Alrighty

You should setup a Myspace site too :)
Far better customization, no ads all over the place, it's an easy link to remember, people can easily stay in contact.
It would be far better than freewebs and you can have more exposure, not worry so much about bandwidth, use FileDen for hosting, they have a good free offer.

My only wish was that Chamoo's papercrafts (which are stupendously awesome by the way) were not so tiny. I have clumsy fingers and I can only scale these things up so much before the textures start looking bad – so I typically end up with models with great textures but atrocious form of or models that have monstrously FUBAR textures but fabulous form. They are great papercrafts and I mean no disrespect though.

Nonetheless, I will happily download the final of this too (like I have a choice, if I let a single KH thing go, my little sister smacks me around until I do). Thanks.
