tips on folding... Anonymous
A bit of help. I'm making the eva 01 papercraft with 110 lb card stock and i'm wondering if anyone has any tips on folding some of the smaller tabs you find in these builds. Also wondering how you deal with the thickness of the card stock causing the edges to show white and some of the tighter tab fits not going in as flush as if you used plane copy paper. do you color them in? if so, what markers do you recommend? thanks in advance

Marker in the color of the part.

As for small tabs, use tiny sticks to glue them or something.

what kind of marker do you reccomend to match the colors and not to blood over the existing ink?

also it's not the gluing i have a problem with, it's the folding of the tabs.

I just got a pack of Rose Art washable markers. Not every color that could be used, but most are close enough to make the model look way better than with white edges.

use a blade to help the folding, in this way you can fold incredibly small things

Well, be sure to score the tab fold lines before cutting out the parts.
For edge coloring, the set of 100 color markers from "fibracolor" is great and cheap. Even better for the EVA, I found some good color matches with Tombow markers and Staedtler-Mars Markers with long brush tips. They're more expensive, but the EVA-01 doesn't have that many colors. All the ones I mentioned are water-based. I tried the solvent markers like Copix, but I think they penetrate too far into the paper.

Use a flatheaded tweezer to fold over the smaller tabs.

Also, make sure you store your cardstock in a dry place and fold them while they're crisp. The ones that are left out in the open for a week are a bitch to fold over cleanly.
