hello /po/! Long time papercrafter. first time poster. I'm looking for any papercraft Combine helmets from HL2? I've been lurking for a bit and this is my first post.

Oh, how I wish...
>> Moony
if someone can rip me the 3d model, I'll edit it and make the papercraft

use the png included inside for higher quality, sorry for mix up
>> Moony

still can't open the .rar
maybe megaupload it, it could be a problem with the embedding?
>> Tumbo !.CzKQna1OU

Can i get your email Moony? We could probably make some cool papercrafts together.
>> Moony
okay, um, what do I open a .mdl with? It won't open with sketchup, metasequoia, or maya.

try milkshape

x.x ugh, installing ANOTHER 3d modelling program.
>> Xydirus
first, sorry>>93471for posting this inside your post, I just didn't want to make another one and start bothering everyone talking about something that's being already discused here, so...
Moony, Tumbo and Cotton Eyed Joe:
Today I installed the google sketchup, but whatever I do, I can't make it work as easy as the tutorials make it seem to be, (at first, y cant make a vertical circle without an already existing vertical wall) and doesn't work very well... anyway, I didn't came here to be whining, so is there a program that I could use to design my own papercrafts that could be easier than sketchup?

>>94008

sketchup is the most intuitive and probably easiest to get used to. Other than that, I guess just take your pick, I really don't see a difference in the learning curves between maya and metasequoia (and fiddling with milkshape right now, seems about the same) The hardest part is just getting used to the quirks of the individual program.

If you can figure out a way to convert it, the model of Barney's face mask may be your best bet for a wearable one.

I believe Chamoo tried to do that before, turned out so borked that she decided not to release it. Worth a shot though, i still want to see a Civil Protection/Elite mask

OP here. thanks for this, alot.
>> Anonymous
i hope you can do this moony. i'm anxious to see it too.
>> Moony
>>94447
I can't :/ Milkshape can't read the .mdl and neither can sketchup, metasequoia or maya.

If someone can rip it in another format, maybe?
>> Anonymous
>>94449
you have to pull the SMD from the MDL then use milkshape to open it/convert it to whatever. you can use the MDL decompiler from http://chaosincarnate.net/cannonfodder/cftools.htm to do that.
>> Moony
sorry, but that's more work, since I'm not terribly interested in this craft for myself. But again, if someone gets me a usable model (sketchup or metasequoia) I'll be more than willing to edit and do the pepakura thing
>> Transciever
I'm all over this like white on rice.
>> Transciever
MDL compiler is failing me. I apparently have every .dll file under the sun missing.

Can anyone get the SMD and share it to help this out?.
>> Anonymous
>>94687
it uses DLLs from steam, so you have to have steam and put the tool into the proper directory. if no one posts it by the time i get home, ill find the model and rip it from the MDL
>> Anonymous
>>94515sorry, but that's more work, since I'm not terribly interested in this craft for myself.
You got it the wrong way around: the ripping part is the fast and easy part (just download some iso, then use some tool to extract the model and textures), the editing of the model and Pepakurifying it is the hard part lol.......

i ripped the model and converted it to an OBJ with the bmp texture. they are in the attached image as a .rar
>> Ilucifera
Question if u convert it to 3ds do the "objects" stay intact? (head/torso/feet etc.) Now its all just 1 object in pepakura
>> Anonymous
>>94719
its modeled as 1 big thing, not different parts.
>> Ilucifera
Too bad; would make it somewhat easier to work on. Guess its just a skin then.
>> Anonymous
I'll have this done by weeks end.
>> Moony
okay, got everything working (thanks anon for the rip)

expect the beta version this weekend (or sooner if I decide to neglect my homework in favor of /po/)

Cotton Eyed Joe, Do you have a Milkshape registration code you are willing to share? It's the only thing standing in the way between me, and completing this.
