You are both fucking cretins, OP for not checking another three WCC threads and the second poster for delivering the template, so OP doesn't learn to check more that the first page. This being said, sage and report. Meh.
>> Anonymous
Or it might me just one person sharing the template, but still sageworthy.
>> Moony
>>94757
especially since they posted a version sans credits!
>> Anonymous
this is the OP, i posted the first two posts. I didn't know that this was on here yet, i saw it on another website, instantly thought about PO, and decided to be a good person and come post it here. So either moony stole it, or this website stole it form you moony

maybe in pdf form your credit can stay intact
>> dreamofanotaku
>>94882
not if they know how to edit pdfs, but I figure most people don't.
>> Moony
>>94861
wow, that really ticks me off. Not that they're distributing it, but that they took my name off! I put a lot of work into that in photoshop x.x (being completely inept at 3d modelling)
>> Anonymous
>>94886
You can get in contact with a runner of the site, saying that you're the one who made it. Is the original thread still there? Might wanna screencap it if you can.
>> Anonymous
>>94886
your efforts are well appreciated
>> Anonymous
and thats the picture someone posted in that thread, so i blame them! unless someone else submitted the picture with it.

Jeez.... my dog stepped on my Companion Cube model, and almost totally destroyed it. I almost cried.

U know what to do...
throw your dog into the incinerator immediately
>> Anonymous
>>94901

Yeah, no.
I'm the guy that made that companion cube, and NO i didn't post that picture anywhere but here.

Somebody used my pic...

Who wants to email portal-mods.com and demand moony gets rightful credit?
>> Anonymous
Kay.
Just sent a kindly worded email requesting credits get added.

It'd be good if a few others sent in too.
>> Anonymous
>>94882
Maybe if you put the credits ON the papercraft, instead of on an empty space of the paper, it's harder to delete the credits, they'd have to mess with fixing the textures to delete it.
Not really that difficult on these simple textures, but on more complicated textures it could help.
Also:>>94696it's all over the interwebs without credits, trust me. It's how the interwebs work, people steal stuff. 4Chan should know this. ;)

I'm making one out of styrofoam and color foam. Can we get some reference pics?
>> Anonymous
fuck that, the trips are the life force of /po/ and they should atleast get credit for the work they do
>> Anonymous
im thinking of signing up and mentioning this in the portalmod forums
>> Anonymous
>>95001
"Should" is the keyword here I think. ;)
You should buy papercraft books instead of downloading them from RapidShare. And you should give an amateur designer credit by linking to their site if they have one instead of uploading their work to RapidShare. Just as we do as we see fit with other people's work, they do as they see fit with /po/'s work.
This sucks, yes: congratulations, you just caught a glimpse of the real world, anon. ;)
>> Anonymous
>>95007

sure i get that but its not like moony was selling the papercraft and it takes EFFORT take the name out of the picture furthermore they didn't even put a new name on it. I can see the sense in what you said but i cant see sense in their actions.
>> Anonymous
People do lots of things that don't seem to make sense. Maybe they were bothered by the spelling error in Moony's credits and just deleted the whole thing, but like you said it takes extra effort to put new ones (of their own) back in so that, they didn't do.
>> Anonymous
>>95013Maybe they were bothered by the spelling error in Moony's credits
That might actually be it.

>>94948
the model was mentioned on boing boing (credits to 4chan /po/ given), so quite possible they got it from there.
>> Anonymous
btw the only thing i had difficulty figuring out was the double fold on the L shaped pieces... you might want to throw in an outline with fold lines to the side...

fairly new to /po/, too, so having lots of trouble getting the corners to hold shape and glue down (even with rigid paper)... any tips on getting glue to stick better when really tiny tabs are involved? :P

Also, how did OP seal off the corner (where the tiny triangle is) so well?
>> Anonymous
>>95068how did OP seal off the corner (where the tiny triangle is) so well
I don't think they did: the picture is just so small that you can't see. ;)
>any tips on getting glue to stick better when really tiny tabs are involved?
Basically the only really useful tip is: "use good glue." But most glues are good for this, I don't know of many glues that can't glue two pieces of paper together really (I know SOME, but if you've been using those you would already have found out that those are not the way to go... ;).

Very tiny pieces on papercrafts: first you need to shout and curse the designer for making tiny pieces. I mean it. Because my second tip is, that you need to take your time, and be very concentrated about it, so it really helps if you get all your frustrations out beforehand. ;)
Score the fold lines sufficiently, so the pieces and tabs fold easily without much effort.
Lastly, but this may be just on the type of glue I use (not that white PVA stuff, but that clear liquid like stuff) only apply so much glue that you cover the tab (goes for all tabs, small and big) COMPLETELY, but that it doesn't spill out of the edges when you press the parts together). It will be almost dry when you have picked up the part that you need to glue on. Sometimes when you're working on a part you need to glue several places on one part, and by trying to get it to fit on one end may cause the other end to come apart again. So make sure the first part has dried enough first.
Take your time and if you're about to get frustrated, take a break.
Also, if you're not completely satisfied, you can use the tip of your blade or your toothpick between the glue tabs and the parts to get the parts apart again, to do it again but better. Don't wait until the next day, because by then you can't anymore without too much risk of damaging the papercraft.

i need to buy a new color cartridge :( first two papercrafts ive ever done though!
>> Anonymous
>>95082i need to buy a new color cartridge
You can always just say it's supposed to be a statue of Link, with a nice socket to stand on. ;)
They look great, the cube too; I can see you cut the tabs at the curves in three parts to be able to make the curve; it worked out very nice.
>> Anonymous
>>95086
lol thats a good idea, im going to use that :p

>>95068
i left a spot of glue (just the elmer's kind) out on a post-it note that was posted to the elevated part of my computer desk where my monitor is. then used a toothpick to apply the glue. by leaving it out it dries slightly, and becomes tacky and not so runny. so then once i put it on a piece and pressed it together, it stuck together and dried fairly quickly with little runoff.

>>95068
How did OP get rid of the gap in the corner?
print it twice.
make it, with the gaps
then make the corners again, rotated,
there identical, so they fit, and line up right.
get rid of the tabs for most of it and glue the corner over the corner.... like using 2 L shaped pieces in Tetris.
>> Anonymous
ok So the cube is awesome, and I've already made one, but where are the little talking turrets? How about Portal turrets papercraft, huh?

Could someoine modify this for the plain Aperature cube? the ones with the blue symbols and lines, etc.
>> Anonymous
The problem is, on the real companion cube, the circles are pushed out. It would need to be modified.
>> Anonymous
>>96043
If that's the case for small details, the little cross designs within the circle behind the heart "bubble" also have depth, but this is all pretty good for basically the fist or so-ish week of the release for this material...also, seconded on the Aperature cube.
