Hey /po/.

Before 4chan went down, I was starting to get intrested in papercraft from this board. Although I've never posted here, I've spent maybe a couple hours total looking at the awesome models that people upload.

I think it is time that I started to craft these papers.. Does anyone have any recommendations for a first /po/ papercraft?

I'm not a total nub when it comes to this. I'm very artistic, and my mind is great. I used to fold up intermediate origami back in like 5th/6th/7th/8th grade. I'm now graduated, though.

Thanks in advance, look forward to your recomendations. Oh, and please, nothing too boring - I'm not a young kid or anything.

Usually being new at papercraft or being a veteran doesn't really matter when it comes to wether or not you can build difficult models or not (I mean: it's cutting and glueing pieces of paper; if you can't build something, it's either because you don't have the patience to figure it out, or the template has been poorly designed).

more important is what kinda stuff you like: if you really like a particular video game, and there's a papercraft of that videogame, you'll probably be very motivated to build that one and have loads of fun doing so.
Many /po/eple started with Snake in a Box which is somewhere on /po/'s pages. A good first thing to do is look through all 10 pages here and see if there's anything you like.
And after that, there's http://www.3dpapermodel.com.tw/freedownload/download-asp/link.asp?ID=free and http://www.paperkraft.blogspot.com/ since those two link collection sites actually show you a thumbnail of what the papercraft is supposed to be.
Andhttp://rs.4chan.org/?from=%2Fpo%2Fof course which archives all RapidShares from /po/, and Google. And lurking here.

You don't have to.
Whenever you click a RapidShare link, scroll down and you'll see a grey button labeled "Free". Free means "no money required to get what you want".
Click it, and on the next page you'll be given a code that you need to enter (to ward off any download bots that would wreak havoc on the bandwidth) and you can download whatever it is you wanted.
If you download a lot of stuff, you might have to wait a while in between downloads, but since papercrafts should only be a couple of kB, that's not really an issue.
But most papercrafts are a couple of MB, though. Sometimes a lot of MB. In those case you'll probably have to wait a few minutes. Even more if you also download pron from Rapidshare.

Newbie here. Do I need to use a particular kind of paper for papercraft. Does simple printer paper hold up to the rigors of papercraft? Do I need to use a special kind of glue? If I wanted to make a sturdier papercraft model do I need to invest in card stock to glue the cut out papercraft to or will double layering simple printer paper do the job?

It's enough to spend 20 minutes here to figure out that 100% of all the info a newbie needs to know is already here. Goddamn you. Learn to search, there are 4 of you every day. Checking out Wikichan's /po/ article and googling "papercraft" won't do anything bad.

Oh, come ON. TROLL... or TOTAL FAIL.

Either way, http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/entertainment/papercraft/howto/index.html gives basic instructions, regular paper and white glue will do just fine for starters, move to cardstock or double your paper if it's too floppy, Aleene's Tacky Glue or wood glues uses extra-sparingly works great...

...and /po/ is 10 pages long; look over all of them before asking the n00b questions!
