I was wondering if anyone knew of any attempts to model the Sierra (or Shera, if you like) airship from FFVII: Advent Children. I know this would be a considerably tall order, considering there are no readily available 3D models of it. Just wondering if anyone had tried it.

OP: This was actually the highest res I could find, but I didn't look very hard. I'll spend some more time going through the artbooks and stuff, see if I can find better. And thanks for the charity.

Sorry, not much in the way of HR, but I figure multiple angels is better than nothing.

I'll keep looking.

Movie screen from the underside...most of the other shots I could find in the movie were terrible. Out of focus or obstructed.

charity bump guy here, I'm kinda double wrapped with classes right now, but im 99% certain i will attempt this over the coming summer, not to long from now. Anyone interested in helping me with it around may and june?

OP: I'd love to help, but I don't know the first thing about this stuff. I've modeled some things in Sketchup, but that's a far cry from something this complex, and I wouldn't even know where to begin with texturing.

well i got the sketch up and cad down, i just suck at textures. when it comes to complexity, it would have to be designed in separate parts, i just wish i had exact measurements so it was the right proportions when designed.

The beauty with proportions is, that they are unrelated to exact measurements:
The proportions of a room can be that it is half as wide as it is long, but this can mean it is 2 meters wide and 4 meters long, or 20 meters wide and 40 meters long.
Meaning: if you have the pictures, you have the proportions, you don't need exact measurements to get the proportions right. Most 3D applications will let you import 2D raster images so you can have that as an underlayment so you can basically trace the outlines to get the proportions right, I know SketchUp lets you do that, and most other apps will let you too.

can you do that with the free version of sketch up? if so a link to a tutorial would be helpful, thanks

Since the internet and downloadable programs, the tutorials come WITH the downloadable programs: http://www.sketchup.com/
