So /po/, I'm having a little problem here with exporting models. Or a couple of problems. Pic is shitty quality of the folders because I have no better pic on this computer.

1. As far as I got it, you export with Lemmy's plugin in 1964 like this: Pause, Video Plugin, tick Export to VRML, Play. A output.wrl file shoud appear in a VRML-named folder I created in C:.
1a. It appears in C: alone, not in the folder.
1b. There are only half the textures when I open it in Deep Exploration.
1c. The Onyx model [I exported for that format in DE] is some kind of a shape that's not remotely anything like what I wanted, it's some kind of a spaceship or something.
2. How do I export models from DE with textures? If I open it in Pepakura it has no textures and I don't have any other files. I export them in .3ds format.
3. 1964 is much worse than I imagined, let alone compared to Project64. Is there ANY way to make it better, or use a better emulator with the plugin? The graphics really suck.

That is all, if you can help, I'll be thankful. I've been trying to tweak around for about an hour but now I've lost it.

It's been a while since I exported N64 models, so correct me if I'm wrong.
Is there an option to export in (Wavefront) obj? I don't normally use 3ds, because I always seem to have trouble with the textures. So although I don't actually remember, I think I exported them as obj, which would mean there should be an option to do so. ;)

The textures are exported as plain image files, either bitmap bmp or jpeg jpg. The 3D software will wrap the 2D texture image around the 3D model. I'm not sure if you might have an old version of the plugin that doesn't export the textures, it should just dump the textures into the VRML folder along with the obj (and/or 3ds)
Mind you, some parts don't have a texture. In faces for instance, often only the eyes and mouth are textures, the rest of the face is just given a (skin) color, not an actual texture, to save computing memory. So what usually happens is, that the program will pick a texture close to the polygons without a texture, and you might see the eyes or mouth doubled on the cheeks or something. It's all easily fixable, once you're willing to learn the basics of the 3D software you're using.

Because that is what you will need to do: just exporting the models and loading them into pepakura means you're forgetting the most important step: making the 3D models for a game into 3D models for a papercraft, otherwise unless it's a very simple model, you'll probably run into problems unfolding it and later on building it and there's nothing worse than making a papercraft of your favourite hero thinking "it could have been better"...

Yeah, a little after I posted the thread I gained enough strength to save everything in .obj and check again, same result since I didn't get any texture files to begin with [output.wrl file only, and it's not even in the VRML folder].

>I'm not sure if you might have an old version of the plugin that doesn't export the textures, it should just dump the textures into the VRML folder along with the obj (and/or 3ds)
I thought this might be the deal, but I'm 99% I downloaded the latest version that does export textures, at least so it said in the forum. I don't remember where I got it so I can't check again too.

>Mind you, some parts don't have a texture. ...
Yeah, I know, I was ready to fix such stuff in SketchUp, but again I don't have texture files.

Also, it hit me suddenly while I was writing the post the solution to 1c, so that's been taken care of. Just got a Charizard model into Pepakura and it even seemed fine [except for 3-4 places which needed SketchUp, but I didn't bother because I had no texture]. So yeah, texture seems like the biggest problem right now. The deal is I still think a LITTLE bit of the texture is in the model because DE shows that, so I have no idea what's up.

I'm not sure what exactly is going wrong, but I doubt you're the first to have these problems: most posts on the forums concerning stuff like this are posts requesting help because "it doesn't work exactly the way the maker described it!" Your problem sounds like one that other people might have had before you, perhaps a /po/rson here can help you, if not, I think scanning the posts on the forums (I know, there are a lot of them) for similar problems will probably also give you the answers you seek..

Just out of curiosity, after you let it play a few seconds did you remember to pause the game a second time and go back to video options and uncheck "export VRML"? I know it seems like a minor thing but sometimes it's exactly those little unimportant looking things that can fuck everything up for ya. Trust me I know, I had lots of problems with it at first too.

Dammit, are my posts deleted or something? It's the 4th time today I don't see my post. I'll sum it up again.

That's the link to the latest version of Lemmy's plugin. As far as the controller goes. Open 1964, click the plug-ins button and go to input settings. It should look like the attached picture. *sorry if it's big but when i tried to make it smaller it was unreadable.*
What you're going to have to do is click under digital pad each of the directions. when you click one it will give you 10 seconds to push a button that you want to use for that direction. Same goes for all the other things listed.(ex:start, a, b, c-buttons, etc.) when you're done assigning what keys to what controls then click save. you should be able to start the game and play it now.
