does anyone know what to do with the .cmp files on the fire emblem disc? I really want to make papercraft of the characters and weapons.

I've looked everywhere and there has been no mention of either fire emblem or .cmp files.

Every game developer compresses and stores the game data in a different manner. Sometimes a nerdy fan figures out how exactly and writes a program to de-compress the game files so you can view the 3D models. Sometimes they even write a program so you can convert to to a regualr 3D format.
Not always. Maybe nobody has written such a software yet. That is entirely possible, they don't exist for every game... If there is, I don't know about it, but Google is how I usually find stuff like that. And it CAN take weeks to find it, reading through forum posts with 1300+ replies because a lot of times, you'll find it where you least expect it, in that one post that you didn't read because there were so many and you figured: "nah, I already read 1200+ posts, it's not in the 1201st." It usually is...
But like I said: maybe it just doesn't exist?

That actually gave me hope again of finding something for the Xenosaga games...
