Dear /po/

WHY DO I GET THIS STUFF

situation:
I use google sketchup pro and use the box-thingie to make a square and then pull it into a box. Easy.

Then I export it to a .3ds file and open it with pepakura. In pepakura I get all those red lines, how do I make them go away? Also, if I unfold it I get useless skinny strips, what are they doing here and how do I make them go away?

Also, what program do you use to make papercraft?

the skinny lines look like they're the original extents of what you drew. you need to draw a solid shape, not an outline, and extrude from there.

go into 3d model window, and click show object list.. turn off the one that has the red lines, usually they are in seperate objects, if not you have to fix it in sketchup

That worked! I feel kinda stupid now.

However, I created my very first round box! pic related.

So, what kind of program do you use for the 3d-designs? I tried maya at first but my computer can't handle it. So now I use sketchup.

Skinny lines fix
Before exporting to 3ds there is a buttan below it. Options.
Click it
Somewhere there will be a export lines option. uncheck it. all done.

I'd stick to SU too. I like Photomatch.
