It's Cool? Raider
Afther making so much erroneous models y have one that looks cool, but id like to request opinions for proportions. I think this way is round and pretty, but I want more opinions ^^.

Pattern soon, id like to build one to be sure all works fine.

Actually, I modelled a 3D 1up mushroom (and a ? block and some other crap) as a test run for testing some aspects of motion and particle effector crap back when I started animating with Lightwave. In any case, I still have the old model somewhere... next time I'm home I'll see if I can find it and up some screenies here... IMHO I think it looks WAY better than this one :)

I make bottom big intencionally, when constructing, is easy cut a segment (from a 9 poligon base, to 8 polingon base) and make it smaller to adjust and join in the hat, or to adjust your desires.

The important think isn't how looks like in screen, the important is how many faces and fold it has. Is easy make a sphere in 3Dprograms, but not in paper, its easy pick an option on menu and make a super-smooth surface but this make the model hard to contruct.

If you want a "perfect" sphere (perfect meaning not consisting of polygons, but smooth), the unfolded pattern would look like a bunch of "ovals" with very sharp points.

If you make a "polygon-sphere" and unfold it with Pepakura, you'll almost end up with that. Just smooth the edges so they're smooth curves instead of a bunch of short straight lines and DON'T fold it, but rather "roll" the "ovals".
I'm doing this in MS paint in like 2 minutes, but you get the idea, right? Obviously, the more "layers" the polygon sphere has, the easier it is to manually draw the curves over the straight lines.

If you cut up a polygonal sphere "by layer", you'll see that it almost unfolds in cones (without the top), each with a larger/smaller diameter. Again, if you smoothen out the curves and don't fold, but roll, you can get some pretty good non-polygonal spheres...
These methods aren't really scientific/mathematical (those methods exist too) but since papercraft always allows for a small margin of error, this method works fine.

This is just a method that I wanted to share with you all, maybe some of you will find it useful. I'm not saying I don't like the mushroom here, because I do: it has a big advantage over a "perfect" sphere, and that is that this one will be very easy to build for everybody that wants too, and as I understand, that's the whole idea.

thats the rason itsn't finished, (all right the real reason was a exam ^^) I'm loking for good modificacions, maybe unfold with pepakura and make modificacions with a vector based design program.

I think the "layer method" works good, the heads and faces of "character" models use it and looks fine.
