Suggestions, please (dragon aspects papercraft) Tehanu
In before troll, etc. (pic sort of related)
I want to start building this:
http://wowpapercraft.blogspot.com/2008/06/dragon-aspects.html
eventually, and it's something I really want to last. Ordinary printer paper's not going to do it.

So, from you, dear /po/, I need suggestions how I should make this last.
Coat it with what?
What kind of paper?
Detailed info > general, but information is still good.

Also, I've never done folding without the lines being right on the paper itself, so how do I know where the folds go?

~Thanks

I would also like to know how to preserve models (I have the Canon Dragon and Phoenix that I want to last for a long time), but as for knowing how to fold it, there's always a lined version floating around, bring that up on your monitor, and use a ruler to crease the unlined version the same way. One other helpful tip is that almost always, the lines start and end between tabs and at corners.

I'm pretty sure there's a topic in the back few pages about this, /po/ moves slowly enough that you should be able to find it.

Yes, I'm aware of the /po/'s leukemia, but I am asking specifically in relation to any ideas anyone more experienced than myself might have in regards to specifically this model.
I know it's 110lb cardstock (I think, I'm not on /po/ all the time), and some kind of spray?
Specific brands will help me remember it months from now when I actually begin this project.

thanks for the folding tip!

i think i'm the only one who actually built that thing so let me see.
use the latest version of the model (v3, i just added some "help files")
use pepakura alot
use thick paper for body, slim one for inside the wings
the less heavy the wings will be, the more chance you have that they'll stay in the air and not fall to his side like mine.
take your time...

for coating, i never did that so i dont really know, maybe something like some Clear Cote Finish:

I hear spraying with a light coat of clear lacquer seals things up pretty well, but I've never seen anyone actually suggest a particular brand or type.

I am currently building this exact texture of the model actually.

Seriously as PMF suggests take your time and pay attention to where stuff connects.

as for clear coat, any spray on lacquer, avoid stuff that has color, make sure is says dries clear on the outside, otherwise it will look funny.

People sometimes suggest some varnish or some other finishing spray. I'd ask in the store if I were you (try to determine if the person helping you knows what he/she is talking about, or that he/she is just trying to sell you something lol). Also, build some simple papercraft and try it out on that. Then start cutting, folding and assembling your dragon, when you're finished with that, see if the spray on your test subject has the desired effect (so it has had some time to settle, the effect is usually different than just after you've put it on lol).
