made about 90 (was aiming for 100 but she'll never know) for my girlfriend (because 6 months is such a big deal for them)

the 10 first make you learn it by heart, the 20 ext is kinda fun, after 60 I was bored lol

At my local college they are making 1000 paper cranes to send to that Hiroshima memorial in Japan.

I would've helped but I have a job.

That's the latest version of Ryujin by Satoshi Kamiya.
Folded from 1 (one) uncut square paper (size 2x2 m)

Are they designed by computer beforehand?

I don't think so.
He made few versions of Ryujin before. From the simple version (no scales) to the most complex one.
So he was improving every later Ryujins. Why would he need a computer program? the guy can design complex models in his mind.

According to my calculations, if you consistantly make one crane per 5 minutes [not at all difficult, even lazing about I finish within 3 minutes] You would make one thousand cranes in 83.33 hours, or 3.42 days. Accounting for periods of rest and nourishment, a week is more than enough time to make 1,000 cranes.

Unless you have a social life.

Yes, in the course of my life, I've folded at least 5,000 of those suckers. I got hooked on origami in like second grade, and just about every day in class, I'd fold seven or eight of them (Fuck school work).

school was the only free time i had to make origami
