/po/, I fucking love you. Now, I've only visited here, maybe three times in my 14 months on 4chan. But after the /rs/ board was made, I found something very interesting.

http://rs.4chan.org/?s=zeldaww

I've been ripping models from N64 games for a long while, but this blew my mind. I guess this is how the TP models were ripped, too.

And spending some more time just looking around, I think I might start contributing. Papercraft's always been interesting, but I've never really cared before. Doesn't seem too hard.

Really, this made my month. I'm ecstatic.

Secondly, anyone know how this was done? The question was going to be asked eventually. Do you just rip a GC game off the disc, and go through it? I have plenty of games, and N64 roms to make papercraft models from. I suppose even if I've never done one before, it's not hard to find a nice model to make one from.

Glad to hear it. Sorry I can't say I know where the program's from, or how to use it.

You need GC disc image.(No you can NOT just put your GC game in your computer and copy it). Then run it through a program called GC-Tool
http://rapidshare.com/files/57502755/pdx-gt12b.zip.html
After that it depends on the game. Just goolge around for the file formats and such that you see in the resulting files.

I always wondered why there were torrents of GCN games without a proper emulator to play them. Is that why?
>> Anonymous
>>88237
no there is a working emulator, but only if your computer is fast enough. It's called dolphin.
>> Anonymous
>>88237
also there is a way to play burned GC games on a modded GC
>> Anonymous
>>88238
>proper emulator

Most computer's can't run it, and it can't run all games.
>> Anonymous
wow. slowpoke.

I play N64 games using an emulator. Is there a way for me to extract a model and turn it into a papercraft? How?
>> Anonymous
>>88233
Elaborate.

I got that, and the one the OP provided. I also got Pokemon XD. Where do I go from there?
>> Anonymous
>>88407
It already says what you need to do now.
>> Anonymous
>>88407
You also have to remember that not all the games are made by the same people. meaning that they each use a different format on the disc to store the data. I can get models from the zelda games and some of the mario games with the same program, but pokemon is made by a different company and thus uses different formating. I've checked a couple pokemon games and have never been able to find anything that worked for them sorry. Just google for the file formats you see in the extracted data and maybe you will get lucky.

Oh, 88407 here.

That really sucks ;_;

So what other programs do you use besides bmdview? You say the same program rips Zelda and Mario, but it won't work for either!
>> Anonymous
>>88917
bmdview doesn't do anything with the files straight from the disc. BMDView just opens BMD files and animations for them.

And when I saw marion I mean mario sunshine

This is where you can get some things that will definitely help! Don't ask me for instructions!

>>88918
I know that. I got the program to rip files from the ISO, and did it with Mario Sunshine, and it didn't do anything! The ripped Mario ISO doesn't have bmd files in it!
>> Ilucifera
Wow that actually works! Bmd view I mean..
Toptip instead of going through all those folders (takes ages) use Windows search function let it search for files with .bdl
and hey presto 1431 (!) .bdl files in alphabetical order Now only search for the good ones and turn them into models
>> Anonymous
>>88927
Yeah. I know it works. I'm kinda the one who put it on rapidshare.

also if you read everything carefully you would have noticed the steps. here I'll line them up and number them.
1. Obtain disc image
2. rip files from disc image
3. FIND A PROGRAM TO EXTRACT THOSE FILES!!!!!
4. use bmdviewer(or another program depending on the game[but I don't think any others exist]) to view the 3D data.

Did that clear it up for you.

gamecube discs spin backwards.

you would need a developer's console or something like it to rip an .iso of a GC disc.
>> Jimbim !vn2ZJeqyPU
>>88933
there is a way you can do it using your GC and some cables and fantasy star online.
>> Jimbim !vn2ZJeqyPU
I am now uploading the models from TP! they will be in the same format as the WW ones that I uploaded. Meaning you will need bmdviewer. I have not included bmdviewer in this pack because it is in the other one.
>> Jimbim !vn2ZJeqyPU
>>88933
And when it says "obtain" that doesn't mean rip a copy of the disc. It means download a copy of the disc from somewhere. Unless you can rip the games disc to your computer, in which case go right ahead.

OP here. If you can't figure this out, you're a fucking retard.

Also, I'm amazed at how long a thread lasts on here. That's nuts.

OP here again, tripfagging it up for reference.
>>88948
By the same format, do you mean it's the whole game? Becuase I have the models ripped last year that got all over the net, and I was sorely dissapointed to see the large amount of missing models. It did inspire me to make my own master sword, though.

Also, I have to say, I learned what I know in 3D with Rhino3D one year in high school, and another year tooling around on my own, and it's just a CAD program... so I don't know how to use rigging or skeletons. Are these models extracted with those 'dem bones, or are they as-is?
>> Jimbim !vn2ZJeqyPU
>>88954
I'm the same guy who uploaded the WW pack, and you can expect the same thing, but for TP.

Yep, still a crappy connection.

Yeah, that pack was what got me to rip the models myself in the first place.

OP, you stated you have a lot of N64 ROMs to rip from. If you made some Banjo-Kazooie papercrafts I would love you forever.

can anyone rip fierce diety (or oni link w/e you prefer) from majoras mask and adult link?
