I'm not the OP, but I think someone on here could do a better job at making a Wall-E than that one. Fucking hell, everyone is going off to make a GlaDos, Link's Master Sword and other stuff. A Wall-E can't be that hard and imagine how awesome it would be.

(Oh yeah, in before "make it yourself". I don't know how to model, so fuck off. I just can't stand when someone asks a harmless question and people act like complete jackasses [In before "welcome to 4chan"]).

I have never made a modle myself but i am very intrested in Wall-E and mechanical engeniering (probably spelled wront) even though i have no experiance in eather.

I have been hunting for pics of Wall-E's diffrent functions such as his sleep mode (turning into a box) the shape changing of his treds, compacting action and hand movment. i want to create a more or less working modle.

when i leave my office to head home i want to put him to sleep and wake him up in the morning.

If you can help me with pictures i will share my progress.

Did all the pieces print at the same resolution?
>> Wanijobo
Some of the tabs, namely on the arms, are textured as well.
Also, there is an unecessary tab on the neck.
It seems that you took some version of the official model that I'm looking for, (the one that Lunk posted pictures of) and re-textured it.
Care to explain?
>> Anonymous
>>161976
Yes, absolutely. Lots of custom cuts, and I even had to reprint it and cut off pieces to stick onto white spots (the back of his neck for example)

The entire time I was doing it I was cursing the horrible design of the model.

with the high-res textures from Lunk?
>> Wanijobo
>>162030
It's not too hard, it's the flaws in YOUR model.
When you design something, you should at least test it and make sure that extra printing isn't required.
When I build something, I expect everything I need to be right there, without any "Fix-my-mistakes" shit.

>> Anonymous
soooo is it ok or does it need more work?
>> Anonymous
>>162137

I've started building this and it needs improvement, thought for a first model not bad.

1. The size has to be bigger, about 2x-2,5x times, you're needing pliers and exacto-knife to get them nice - and I have very small hands for a man(!). Multiple parts like hands and arms should be seperated on several pages.
Best would be doing 2 versions, one for A4 european size and this one for US letter.

2. Though the printing size is correct, there is some overhanging paper parts like arm-ends and track parts, which could be avoided beforehand during the design. I would propose to first make a blank prototype with just the outline to test the waters.

3. Due to those changes, the rest is clear, that you'll need higher res graphic textures of Wall-E. Maybe the posted high-res archive of a Anon here may be the answer.

And a sidenote:
The pictured Wall-E cardstock model seems to be special give-away for Disney and Pixar executives. I've been unable to track down a source for this after hours of internet search. I've found an auction on ebay, but the starting bid is beyond my budget (crazy!). http://cgi.ebay.com/VERY-RARE-Disney-Pixar-WALL-E-Desktop-3-D-Robot-Display_W0QQitemZ180262264127QQi

>> Anonymous
>>162188

Theres also a hole and glaring white spot in the back of his neck, and the entire ass of him hangs open. I guess you could store things in there or something.
>> Anonymous
i started building walle fine, the first problem i found was around the tires. the length of those tabs dont fit together and needs to be custom cut. (i guess i can cut it but it would be nicer if the design was fixed), and the curve thats walle's back doesnt match together with the glue tabs and the dotted lines that suggest where they should be bent. also i had problems with the front of the walle (the part where it bents in)

Look what I wrote as a sidenote:>>162188

>>162253
Yes, I noticed that too - gotta later alter the PDF GFX with proposals. As well as the triangles are paralell on both sides.
>> Anonymous
>>162312

Yes, wait till post the proposal.

I meant, the triangles aren't paralelle
>> Anonymous
Ok, here we go:

As you can see, most of the proposals are self-explanatory, Since I use a "glue it"-rollerband from Pritt, I could do the back as followed:
Glue number 1 (the magenta backdoor-sides) on the inside of wall-e's sides till they are about straight (about 53°). Mind that you DONOT cut the doors hanging on the back part. The unprinted parts of the magenta colored backdoor-sides are prepared with "glue it".

Glue the parts 2 together.

Move the white glue flaps of the back to line up the wall-e's sides where the tracks are glued on. You'll have about the same construction as in the CGI movie version. The back DOES NOT follow the shape of the backdoorsides and never was intended.

Another proposal would be to do small triangle pegs, where the glue points supposed to be for better alignment of the arms and track-unit.

I don't have any solution for the open neck.
