Pokémons are living creatures, not one Squirtle is the same as the next Squirtle, there are probably fat squirtles from kids overfeeding them lol and Squirtles that are skinny because their owners don't care for them well enough. ;) Of course it's good to get inspiration for difficult parts from other works, but I think you're doing a great job if you make a Squirtle the way YOU imagine it. And any difficult folds is just trial-and-error until you get it right, I think that's the real power of doing it by hand and not on the computer: you can see instantly if a part is going to work because you're basically testbuilding it as you're designing it, while with Pepakura and the computer, it's often difficult to imagine how a part is going to work, and when it turns out it doesn't work the way you imagine it, many people unfortunately don't like the idea of having to go several steps back to fix a minor thing so they leave it that way... Sometimes it's not a big deal though and you can fix it yourself while building it so you can still make the papercraft you like. ;)
