Does anyone have a simple template or formula for making a sphere that is made od polygons and not full-on gores?

usually when people use gores they are ()-shaped strips and have no smaller, polygonal segments to them.

A papercraft of jupiter with full-on gores for example in included.

id be very interested in the answer to this too. But preparing the geometry correctly to be unfolded in that manner puzzles me as well.

How big do you need it?

About 8 or 9 inches in diameter. I would not complain if it was 100+ faces.
