Does anybody know where to download models from games like Lineage, Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Second Life and so on?

Blender seems to import quite a few formats and it also exports obj which opens fine in Pepakura.

Your best bet is from the game discs; sometimes people did the "hard part" (actually the easiest part when wanting to make papercrafts yourself) and rapidshared the models, but usually they're in the fugly scarecrow position. When you rip them yourself, sometimes the tool (which you will need to download) will let you choose a different pose. Often it does not, and you're still stuck with the Jezus position. :(( Also, whatever you do: don't go posting Pepakura auto-unfolds when you get it to work please...

That fugly scarecrow pose is called the Reference Position, and it's essential to the 3D modeling process. Long story short, it's the most versatile "default" pose.

Apparantly not according to the people at Square, they chose a somewhat different default pose lol...
But seriously, it's all true, and it's great if you're making a game, but that's not what /po/ uses them for. ;) Too many papercrafts that could have been very nice have been ruined by having a crappy pose... :((

That's why I'd like to have the models. There are tools for eg Warcraft to pose them. That could be exported and paper-crafted.

Really? what tools? But I think for those tools you need the original files from the game discs like>>127003
said, If you download an obj or 3ds that somebody ripped you will not be able to pose those at least I don't see how since they don't have any animation data??

I know, you need the original disc. But it's pointless looking for a cheap one if it's impossible from the start.

Also, this seems to work: http://www.wowmodelviewer.org/

http://exporttoworld.plugimi.com/index.php?/objectsexported/objects-exported/

there's a link on how to export the second life models with a program called OGLE. has anyone used it with other programs?(lineage, rf online, etc...)

as far as posing models, if they can be rigged they can be posed. i;m playing around with some warcraft models atm i pulled with the wow model viewer and metasequoia.

I can never get the margins right :<

Do want this dark elf so much!
The other two are really badly scanned and impossible to align correctly. It's no fun making them :(

>>127958
The site is down for me; can you rapidshit?

>>127959so, what's the best way to print these double sided?
The best way is to keep tinkering with your printer settings. Each scan will probably be slightly off, and my own printer will never pull sheets through the exact same way twice in a row, so personally, I just don't print 3Dpaper's papercrafts doublesided: it's usually just fold lines, and some parts that have textures on the backside. Personally, I don't care about the backside being white, but here's a protip I uttered several times before:

just print the backside on thin, regular paper (if you're smart, you copypasta all the backside parts to one page) cut them out, and glue them to the backside of the frontside that you printed on cardstock. Perfect alignment. And if "it doesn't look good that way!", that's just your skills not being up to the ask. ;)

that's actually a pretty good idea.
I was pondering trying that with two sheets of cardstock, but chances are that the pieces would come out too thick.
regular paper for the underside should work great! I might give that a shot.
thanks anon :3
