If you score all the folds properly, it won't be any more difficult to fold even tiny parts. And cardstock also curves just as easily as regular paper. Use regular printer paper if you simply don't have cardstock, or because it's cheaper than cardstock, but cardstock isn't more difficult to fold or curve, that's just your skills (and patience perhaps). ;)
