Awesome! So it seems, the body *was* easier than the heads?

ive been following this for a while
great job!

the body is a bit easier than a head since its bigger parts but bigger can also make it harder for some because you need to fit afinger inside to glue some parts and all. the whole model is hard

Oh, cool! Didn't think you were going to release it. This will definitely be something I'll give a try.

hey chamoo,do you think cardstock would make the heads harder, i did the head you released earlier on computer paper and it was easy to build that way

also how big would this be if the biggest piece was scaled to be the size of a piece of paper

for the body maybe it would be easier but for the head it would be alot harder and probably wont make a nice result because the tickness of the paper will make a hell lot of white lines where the parts join. the whole thing is already a huge papercraft. from tail to head its already almost 12 inch long and 10 inch high. scalling it any bigger would make the head easier but would probably also make the whole thing bigger than a cat and also 40 pages of black parts

wow, that's absolutely fantastic, thatnks for releasing it. has anyone tried to do single colour models like this on coloured cardstock? I was thinking that using black card for all the solid coloured pieces would save on printing and prevent score lines shopwing white through. I'd like to try printing the fold lines PDF onto white paper then spraymounting onto the back of the card (probably need to L/R flip first to keep the orientation right) so even if I make a bit of a pigs ear of it it'll still look solid and clean. Then just print the coloured parts onto thick paper and go. Do people think this could work?

I think so but who am I? ;)
Try it and see if you're happy with the result.

A lot of the Gundam models are printed in black on colored paper. The results look really good. You're right there are no white gaps at the edges and no need to color the edges either.
>> chamoo232
I had the idea of printing it on black paper but when I got the template finished I didnt had black paper and didnt felt like waithing a week to get some so I just went on and made the heads. then I just though the color wouldnt match if I make the body on black paper so I did the whole thing on white paper. my ink cartridge survived and there is no ugly lines like when a cartridge is almost empty

hmm Airbrushing or light spray painting would work well for those who want a bolder look? On heavy sturdy stock of course.

Especially Airbrushing, if you already have a kit or know someone with one at school.

Chamoo, I have a question. How do you import models from Google Sketchup into Pepakura Designer? I've cleaned one up and would like to test it, but I still haven't figured out how to do so.
>> chamoo232

I use sketchup5. then I do File> export> 3d model and I choose 3ds format
>> Jen
>>47444

Thanks. Now I know to download Sketchup 5 tomorrow. Sketchup 6 only allows for exporting in the Google Earth file format, .kmz, which is a .zip file of the .kml file extension from what I researched earlier.

REALY? 6 wont allow exporting to anything but Google Earth? I'll have to find 5 too then
>> Pepa Craft
I have SketchUp 6, and it exports them. I think it does what SketchUp 5 does and also has the Google Earth thingy.
>> Jen
I've got what's going on now. It's the difference between the free version and the pro version.

would somebody here please make some instructions of how to make this
>> M.
>>47777
That's pretty much the reason why Chamoo didn't want to release it in the first place : making instructions for what I hear is a very complex model = hours of pain.

In that case, working with the PDO file open and next to you while you build it is your best shot. So much more explicit than words.
>> chamoo232
>>47777
even if I wanted to make instructions I wouldnt be able to because I cant even remember how I made it. I cant tell what part goes where. thats why I included the pdo. if thats still not enough then this model's difficulty isnt for you

i may write an instructions for this beast of a papercraft... dont count on it anytime soon though...
