/po/ is able to build difficult papercraft hands with seperate fingers (would basically be small tubes, no larger than 2 mm in diameter at most or else the entire papercraft would have to be scaled much too big);

or do you care not about this kind of detail and would just prefer simple hands?
>> Anonymous
i prefer by much the detailed ones

si how is cloud going?

make them small and detailed, the fun in papercraft is about the difficulty of your model and how cool does it seems
>> Anonymous
Depending on the size, I'd take the complicated fingers.

You don't need so many lines though. The diagnol lines in the middle of the squares can be deleted in Metasequoia without messing up the model. It makes it easier.

You probably already knew this though.

I have no idea.

Size of the fingers will be tiny: probably around 2 mm in diameter max. If I make them bigger, the entire papercraft needs to be bigger to maintain the right proportions and it will turn out too big. I don't want them to be Eva size so you'd have to print them on 50+ pages... I'm aiming for 5-10 pages max.
OP picture is before any work is done, the raw version. It will get simplified a lot, it's just a matter of how much: to the point where each finger is still a seperate finger (2 or 3 small tubes glued together for each finger) or much more like in>>62236. 2 mm is small, but since they'll only be simple tubes that you can easily roll between your fingers or around a toothpick to shape them, most people will succeed in making them, even if they thought they couldn't.

why dont you make those like haruki`s(or whichever is that name of that girl in that school uniform) fingers

Because those are crappy looking; just 2D sprite-like, absolutely horrible. I know hands are not very easy to make in papercraft form, but talk about taking the easy way out... lol
>> Anonymous
it would be fun if you make those detailed
>> Anonymous
if it wasn't too hard you could make both kinds of hands but since the majority say they want the complicated hands (and I do too) you should just make them

make a box for the hand and then
its the hand in Addams Family

There was already a thread about hands.. fuck

It actually surprises me you guys would much rather have the very difficult version, rather than a simpler one, that can look good enough for a papercraft as well.
>> Anonymous
>>62931
I'd rather have the simpler one 'cause I'm so impatient with delicate small pieces. Although it would be cool to have both, then you could try your best at the complex hand, and if failed, could swap to the simple one with no sweat.

I'm afraid I'll only be doing one version; they both take a lot of time.
If I do the difficult version, it will take a lot of time simplifying the hand enough so it can be built in paper.OP still has a lot of detail to lose, even if I decide to keep the fingers seperate, so that would basically mean rebuilding the hand only simpler with OP as a template (it's more difficult to get it to look right than you think, trust me).
And making the simpler hand is much easier to model, but then I'll have to redo the texture jpg file, because it's made for a hand with seperate fingers and it's not as easy as just using the same texture for a hand with joined fingers, unfortunately.
And since I only have so much spare time (I've been working on this model for over three weeks now, and I still have to do some of the hardest parts: the hands, the hair and some accessories).

what model are you working on anyways?

I'm keeping that a secret to avoid unnecessary "any updates??" threads.

Are there any good example models where you can see how THEY solved the how to make a hand out of paper problem? In small scale of course.
>> Anonymous
see ninjatoes' adult link papercraft, it has individual fingers just like you are trying to do, and also i think i know what the model you are doing is (the biggest hint is that you need help on hands which ive heard in a thread before), and its a good thing that your keeping it a secret or we would get impatient and yell at you, also i cant wait for the model ^_^ hopefully you can solve your problems looking at ninjatoes' links hand

Thank you, I already saw it.
I started redoing the texture file btw, because I'm opting for the "easy" hands: 4 fingers attached to each other and a seperate thumb, like Chamoo's Vivi papercraft, only different).
It's coming along okay, only a bit difficult to get right, and to make it look like there's "depth" between the fingers if you know what I mean so they look like fingers, not flippers. ;)
The hands from Ninjatoe's adult Link look great, but I'm trying to make this papercraft easier to make.
Never mind the fanservice, there are hands with fingers in there as well for illustration. ;)

does that mean you are doing both versions o_O

Afraid not, like I said in>>62959I'll only be doing one version, and I chose the simple version.
