Master Sword Anonymous
This might be a difficult request, but I was wondering if there was a life sized master sword papercraft out there. The shield from links awakening would also be much appreciated!
>> Anonymous
>>157057
That would be really epic, but I doubt it will happen. Bump, none the less.
>> SageRGrate
Wouldn't it just need a size increase from a good, small version and lots of tough paper/cardboard?

This has a pretty detailed Master Sword that might still look good when scaled up by that much: http://members.home.nl/saarloos/zeldamodels.htm#SSBM%20adult%20Link
You WILL need to reinforce it with thick cardboard if you're going to swing it around at 1:1 scale...

Thanks! I'm always really grateful for all the help when requesting stuff here. Maybe i'll try making my own links awakening shield in addition to trying the ninjatoes model resize thing. If the master sword from that model looks blurry suppose all those us zelda peeps who want a master sword for their room could use an outline of the template peices and draw in their own detials. I must admit it seems like alot of work, though...

PLEASE!!! I have no freakin idea how to utilize pepakura. Can some experienced papercrafter help all of us in getting this template?
>> Anonymous
>>157940
Enlarging the Master Sword from>>157298has little (nothing) to do with Pepakura: it's a pdf file.
If someone is going to make an entirely new one, they shouldn't be worrying about Pepakura yet, but they'll probably still be busy with making a good 3D model, stuff which can easily take weeks or even months depending on how much of a life someone has besides slaving for other /po/eple. Let them work on it in their own pace, don't rush them and don't go "PLEASE!! DO WANT!!!" every other day or they'll get annoyed and they'll be like: "You know what? Screw it."

Does anyone have a side view and back of the sword and shield? Its going to be difficult to make the rest of this without it.
Thats what Im up to so far, been a few hours.
>> me_me_me
Is the gold diamond on the front and back, or just the front?
>> Anonymous
>>158205
The whole sword should be the same on both sides. This is because N64 had such low texture file resolutions. the artists would have laid the UVs of both sides onto the same image. That's my guess anyway, I can't confirm it.

Good for you for attempting this one! I 'm sure you'll make alot of people happy when you finish

I think im fucking done. The model at least. Now to pep it.
Unless there are any suggestions, cos I did make it up off a single picture.
Does anyone have the dimensions?

i was basing it off the picture first posted... they look a lot different. which would be more 'real' to base the model off cos i can always change it.

I've got the 3D file of the Hylian Shield from Twilight Princess. It has intersecting faces and whatnot, needs cleaning.

Anyone interested?

Dunno the exact dimensions, but it's much more important t get the proportions right right now, than the exact absolute dimensions.
That's just a matter of scaling it up how much you like, and it might actually be a good idea to allow everybody to scale it theirselves: some people will like it hueg, others will like it smaller then it "really" is.
I made some comments about the shape, dunno about the "papercraftibility" of the shape: because it's going to be very big, you can make a lot more "small" detail than usual, only thing is that you need to reinforce it of course if you're going to carry it around (let alone swing it). ;)

>>158907
Thanks for the comment. I have no idea how im going to reinforce it. I will prob do 2 models, 1 with more detail 1 with less, that will allow people to decide if they want it smaller or not. Also Im not sure what i can do about a texture, personally if I build it i wont put 1 on.

first one.

The second one is cooler I think, it might also appeal to a larger fanbase, as it is from ocarina of time, which seems to be a favorite. Not that a link to the past (first one) is not amazing. Also it the detial on the top part you mentioned isn't entirely nesisary (just seems like extra work for you, same goes for the handle). The sheath would be cool but if your getting stressed I wouldn't spend alot of time on it. Hope that helps
>> Anonymous
>>159766
Yeah, second ftw. That is what I picture when I think "master sword".
>> Anonymous
>>159772
And to answer the rest of the questions. I don't really care a lot about the details in the guard/handle as long as it still looks like the master sword. Also, having a sheath would be awesome imo.

Also, many thanks in advance!
>> Anonymous
Yeah thanks for all your effort with this!
>> me_me_me
ill see how things go, it might be possible to have both option 1 and 2 available. adding detail is easy for me, its what you can be bothered doing when making it out of paper, so is the extra detail preferred or not?
>> anonymous
I vote yes on the extra detail.
>> Anonymous
Is it possible that the little extra detials, like the ridgeing on the handle top, be texture detials, and not things you actually have to fold and glue? If not I guess I wouldn't really mind folding it...
>> me_me_me
>>159998

If textures are given it can be done, if not then im gonna put the detail in, i think...

How's it going?
>> tl;dr Anonymous
Yes, bumping threads that basically died 50 posts ago and annoying everybody by doing so magically makes the guy that might or might not be working on it anymore finish it instantly and giving it to you.
This is an imageboard, not a forum: threads are SUPPOSED to get pruned off the board to make room for stuff that is relevant NOW, not stuff that was relevant yesterday. When there's something relevant to say again, THEN you reply to the thread and it gets bumped.
If the thread is pruned before you have anything relevant to say, then so be it. Whenever there's something relevant to say again about it, make a new thread. It too will suffer the same faith. That's how it works. Stop bumping these DO WANT! -> I'll do it! -> Where did you go?? threads, it's f-ng annoying.
If he's still working on it, he'll release it when it's ready, if the thread is gone by then, he'll make a new one, trust me: he won't forget he's making it if this thread isn't here anymore... Have a little patience, and stop fucking up /po/; it's a slow board, and you're making it stand still. with posts from three weeks and even months ago...

Hes right, I cant forget about it, its just taking time. If the thread goes, then it goes.
Heres a little update though, hard to get the dimensions correct, seeing as how there are none. but itll get there eventually.

That looks fantastic ^^

See? It looks much more like a Mastersword already, just because of one simple element! ;)'
I think you're worrying too much about exact dimensions: focus on making it look right.
Of course it's a big help to have good reference pictures, but don't try to copy them exactly if you find that it looks better if you change the size/proportions of one part a bit.
Try sketch a Mastersword on your own, based on the one you like, and you'll probably see that the proportions are not exactly the same. But your sketch still looks great to you! Then you should keep true to the proportions from your sketch, since THAT's what YOU see as your Mastersword, and you'll love it all the more when it's finished. ;)
Also, When you start working on it a bit more, you'll need to come up with a better solution than a boolean cut in this area: with all the "hills" and "valleys" coming together at an angle there, it won''t be much fun to unfold in a manner that makes sense, let alone to build it... ;) But I understand that you're just showing this and didn't work on it any further yet, so I'll shut up already. ;)

I just chucked that piece on there to show that something was actually still happening. As for what I would like, hell, ive never even played the game, just seen my bro play it, Ive taken this up cos it would be bad ass. Im not going off the pictures exactly, i do have to make some 'creative' choices here and there.
