Benihime Master-smiles
I am currently working on a life size version of Mr. Hat 'n Clogs sword Benihime. I won't be able to release it until after Comicon, July 26-30, but once I finish the textures on the current part I'll post pictures of the progress.

Ironic that somebody decides to work on a Benihime sword as opposed to Ichigo's or Rukia's sword. Looking foward to your sucess!

I could do Ichigo's before it broke and afterward. they wouldn't be life size because of the fact that they are massive. I was thinking of doing Kira Izuru's sword.

Benihime is definately cooler than Kira's shatty sword.

it has a cool power though

So I decided that I'm going to release 2 versions. One with a blank yellowish handle so you can take ribbon and rap it yourself, and another with the rapping on it. Monday I'll get my friends camera and post pictures of it. If you guys want other swords give suggestions and I'll see what I can do. I'm going to do Ichigo's sword.

Awesome man, can't wait. It would be epic if you could make Byakuya's sword. Keep up the good work.

I lol'd as well. I would like to see somebody do that at an anime convention. It would be considered littering wouldn't it?

not if you clean it up right away.

Then you didn't just use A4/US Letter size paper by the look of the blade part? That looks like one big piece, not several pieces of smaller paper glued together.
And that tassle is a real tassle as well, not paper?
Will you really release it or are you just showing off? ;) So will it be for normal paper then? And will all the parts be paper?

Also, if you're gonna stand on a chair to take a picture, then crop off your feet if you unfortunately included them in the picture lol
Good luck on your project!
>> Master-smiles
I will be releasing it. The blade is 3 separate pieces of paper, and I tried to get my feet out of the shot but I kept falling. As for the tassel it is real but I'll think of a way to make one out of paper, most likely just being strips of red paper and a "tie" to hold them together. And all of the pieces will be paper but I'm releasing a separate handle so you can take ribbon and rap it your self like I did otherwise everything will be paper. I may have to make instructions because some of the parts are odd. I may just take pictures of how it is supposed to go.

Also here is a close up of the handle.

Then it might just be the picture, it looked like one big piece of paper. And I was just trying to be funny about your feet, I couldn't help myself sorry, it's just that your eyes are being drawn towards the "abnormality" in the picture. ;)
Your idea for the tassle could work I think but of course it's a matter of how many strips you use and how big they are... Only testbuilds will be able to tell you this. If it fails, you could just simplify it by making a cone and texturing the sides with the "bristles". With papercraft, the easier way surprisingly often looks better.
The same goes for the ribbon around the handle: with a good texture it can look very good as well, in the same style of the rest of the papercraft.

I like that cone idea it would help a lot. I have to retexture the whole handle because I forgot to save the finished pages. I have the blank scans so it wont be hard to texture. I'll start work on the tassel on Thursday, I have to finish my costume tomorrow. Thanks for the help. And the reason the blade looks like one piece is because I took the pictures with my crappy camera-phone.

Ah yes, everybody learns this the hard way: save your work OFTEN. ;)
It's nice to see people so enthustiastic about making a papercraft, glad I could help. If you make the (truncated) cone for the tassel the right angle and the right size with a nice texture I think it will look very nice on your sword. Good luck!

So any patterns on this, then?
