OP is taking from the official website, its actually therender of the 3d model used then the cinamatic trailer and according to the website, as a polygon count of close to 5 million, if i am not wrong.

However upon googling i came upon this:
http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=607923&highlight=UT3+model

Some one built the marine for Unreal Tornament. If some one can rip the 3d model out. Though some how i cant get the file downloaded.

That's just from all the stuff you don't need for papercraft. A good papercraft based on this wouldn't have all the tiny pistons and such like you see at the waist and knee joints, it would just be a closed surface and the pistons and such could be textures, which would probably save half a million polygons alone. All the grooves and such would be textures (shadows) and you'd be able to bring it down to a couple of thousand polygons if you reduced the number of polygons used to create the curviness (which you could afterwards get again in paper). 'Alas, without a starting model and better texturing skills, it's out of my league...

not trying to offend you, but maybe you are new with polygons.
5 millions, yeah, for the marine in the VIDEO.
They obviously made it like that to make it look amazing, and cause it was almost the only thing at the moment in screen. Also, you wont render the marine in your PC, you will only see the video that they made in blizzard based on the render.
For the actual gameplay, noone could expect any PC to run 20 millions of tiny polygons just for having 4 marines.
What I mean, is that the marines in the game MUST be of a lower polycount, and as I already said, as it should most of the time run several dozens of units attacking each other, would be sort of stupid to expect any computer to support that.

Where does it say the 5 million polygons are for ingame? It just says if you have the model used for the video, then this way you can bring the polygons down for a papercraft.
Of course it won't look like this ingame! Not trying to offend you, but you're stupid for thinking anyone thinks that lol... But a papercraft based on the 5 million model and then shrunk down to a more reasonable polygon count would without a doubt look absolutely amazing.
