Your printer doesn't have a "fit to scale" option?

if you have no phtoshop (and do not want to download/buy) try to download photofiltre, you can download it in seconds and at least it works great for me:

http://photofiltre.free.fr/frames_en.htm

in this one, when you are goinf to print, you can chose how much to scale, and you can edit prety well anything you want, and blah blah blah (insert more characteristics)
try it

Cool! Let's get a Weighted Companion Cube one up there!

open it with MS PAINT
then go into print setup under 'file'
there you can set it to print the file to 2 sheets by 2 sheets of paper or however many you want

is there any way i can get the long piece to come out on a single piece, without having to crop it at all?

Do kids these days have no sense of spatial relation? Or how to work their computers and printers?
