ok, I'm making a sculpture of an octahedral fractal.
this is the model in sketch up. while I'm building it, i was wondering if anyone knows of any complex paper craft of the same type of stuff, fractals and all that.

Good luck folding/gluing that shit

its really not that complicated. only the farthest out pieces are that small. there is a lot of empty room, cause all the pieces below the surface are larger than the ones you see

Have you thought about how you are going to glue the pieces together? Since they only seem to be touching at the edges? Did you think of a clever way to do this, and have you modelled the 3D model accordingly, or did you just create a octahedron and copied it hundres of times next to one another and are just planning on glueing them on the edges to eachother?
If so, don't model all 900 of them: model 1 of them, and copy the development 50 times or something on 1 sheet, then print that sheet 18 times (or something). If you're posting this for feedback, my feedback I'm afraid is that you're not being very efficient (and I don't know if you thought the connecting them together-thing through or is that why you need an example as inspiration? I'm afraid I don't know any papercraft type, but there are origami examples but that's completely different)

you missed what i said, its a fractal, therefore, every polyhedron has one face in contact with a polyhedron twice its size.

here, i broke it down, these are the five sizes that make it up

lol you should have just said that, the different colors are the different sizes then? I don't know of any other papercrafts like that, but it doesn't really sound very complex, I don't see why it would be a problem to build it, it's just a lot of work lol

in paper crafting, its not the complexity that makes a great craft, its the amount of work put into it, lol

I don't think it's bad because I called it simple, it's just that it sounded like he wanted some help/inspiration from example/encouragement and I think it looks simple enough it should be doable so by all means, do it. ;)
