so I just got the full armor set for the halo mjolnir armor as found in>>92432and my girlfriend and I got to thinking...
what would be the best way to put the armor on display for a lifesize master chief? would a black jumpsuit filled with cotton(i.e. a glorified scarecrow) work fine, or would fashioning an undersuit out of paper work better?
We really want to tackle this project. a lifesize paper master chief on display would be most epic.
thanks in advance as always /po/. here's the full set in a convenient rapidshare for ya.(Untextured .pdo format)

I'm curious as well.

bump.

if you use cardstock it would most likely stay up on its own. all we need is for the armor to be textured.

I was thinking of spraying it with some primer and then some olive drab spray paint. to give it that life-like texture

All sorts of shit for you to look at.

And uh, 110 lb. Cardstock is the best for that.

wait for a life size master chief you would need to scale the amour up a fair bit since master chief IS seven foot tall

good luck! this sounds really interesting!

as for texture for the armor, I think it would be a lot better to do it by hand with paint (look up faux finish books at your local library) instead of actually printing it out.

I was thinking about trying to dip papercraft models into polyurathane, maybe you can try using that to seal it?

as for enlarging it, heres some tutorials:

I think the black jumpsuit with polyfill would be much easier than to making it out of paper.

I've never heard it called the "corpse hump" before. Do you mean tea-bagging?

Next Up, Iron Man! Good Idea?

The cardstock pieces are the metal parts and can't stand up on their own since they're supposed to worn over black underarmour with jointy parts exposed for freedom of movement.

Maybe you could just "fill in the blanks" with black card stock? There's a forum dedicated to Mjolnir armor, maybe you could ask them as well:

Probably better than the Chief for a display piece since it's a full suit. I know somebody's done a papercraft for it before, but I looked through my folder and I don't have it downloaded.

I have it, I think. it'd require a butt-ton of upscaling though since it's only supposed to be about 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when done.
that is, if you wanted to make a life size iron man :P

If it's the one I'm thinking of, then it's unbuildable: not only way too detailed and because of that full of parts that are too difficult to build for fun, but a lot of parts even overlap...
>> filler material Ewic
What if you used that spray packing foam as a filler material? There might be problemas with it expanding if you are not careful and it warps or tears your cardboard armor, but it is fairly rigid and lightweight, and you can cut or file it down easily with a rasp.
