/po/, this is the Chokipeta Pikachu printed in my Brother DCP 130c. It's so incredibly low quality and looks like it was done with the cheapest laser printer, especially compared to the page on the computer.
What's up with that? I'm guessing it's the paper itself [which is a little thick, more than 110 everybody recommended], the ink is Brother ink that I got with the printer.
I don't know shit about this, I bought it yesterday under the pressure of many people I know saying it's awesome. And I believe them.

Just printed the same page on normal 80 paper. Darn, it's even worse.

The template I have for that Pikachu is just that good a quality scan, but when I print it on my HP inkjet, it looks okay. I mean, it's not photorealistic, but all the "noise" from the "less than perfect quality" jpeg scan kinda "blends" when printed (dunno how else to describe it.
But if you have a very high quality scan, but when printed it looks like crap, then I don't know: the picture doesn't really tell me much. Maybe you need to do some maintenance on a new machine that has been sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold for quite a while (cleaning the spray heads, aligning them, just run the maintenance software once. Or else try to print the same file on a Brother DCP 130c of one of the people that told you it's great, to see if the reults differ.

It'll take more than a month for me to get on someone else's 130c that I've seen unfortunately.. so I don't have a comparison. But about the maintenance check, how do I do that? I just checked the guide and it has more than 20 pages of cleaning the whole thing, but I don't wanna do all that on a factor I don't even know if there.

Dunno on your printer, but mine came with a cd-ROM that installed the drivers, but also a program to perform some basic maintenance: every time I put new inkt cartridges in, I have to "calibrate" it: it prints a test page with several vertical lines, and several horizontal lines and then I have to tell the program which ones look best so it uses that particular setting.
And sometimes when the starts showing "lines", I have to clean the printer heads: not with a Q tip or something, I just open up the "Printer Assistent" program, and tell it to "Clean the printer heads" and then it prints a test page again, and it "blows" out jets of ink, harder than usual I guess, to clear the printer heads of any clogged up blockages I guess or something.
I think every printer should have something like this.

Yeah, when I first plugged it in it cleaned the ink headers, then printed a test page with lines. But the only thing there was to it was that I look at it, and if it's not missing any lines it's all fine, and if it does miss it cleans the ink headers again. I don't think I have a Printer Assistant too.. I guess I'll just clean the whole machine according to the guide, if it's not gonna work I'll call the shop.
Thanks for that.

base on your photo, you have to calibrate your printer color setting to match that of your screen - there's a lot of tutorials for it on the net, just remember Google is your friend

I have just printed out that page on my works laser printer, and yes it looks like crap.
Mind you I think the images in the PDF look crap as well.

I have a Brother 130 at home and I have never had any problems with print quality. I would think that the printer is attempting to print out exactly what the image is. Which means crap image quality = crap printout.

Original scans in .jpg format are in that thread.

THe person who did the original scans did a lousy job, and they were made worse when enlarged and put in the .pdf file.

In the end the shop didn't want to do anything, fucking whores.

Aww, but that's so much smaller. Bet it's hard as hell.
Printed it, yet it looks pretty much the same. Again, the page on the screen is MUCH brighter.

I dunno, it's not only the quality, the yellow color looks so dark and bleh compared to the color on the screen.

>>94310
Really? Thanks, I'll try looking right now.

Dammit, all I found for the calibration thing is http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/colorcalibration/a/cal_printer.htm and I don't understand what they want from me. Plus they want me to print test papers over and over again, which I'm not gonna waste all my ink on.
