There was a really nice video, which has since been removed from the web, showing how some hobby stores have sections devoted to papercraft, and many "tourist traps" have paper models for sale... plus, there's a lot of websites that don't sell internationally full of good crafts; http://www.zuko.to/kobo/ has some wonderful mechanical models that I'd love to get my hands on.
