sup /po/

never done papercraft before and im trying to make a master chief helmet. so far i printed out 16 sheets or somthing and i have cut about half of them out. now, i used this software called pepakura and before i printed it it said somthing along the lines of pages are not the same as printer settings, do you want to change scale? i clicked no, but now im thinking was that the right. should i have changed the scale to a4 or printed how it was? i don't want to start putting it together and it doesn't fit.

thx /po/

Use a4 for, well, A4 sheets of paper. If you're a yank you'
ll most likely be using Letter, and Letter's a bit bigger than a4.

Now, printing scale is another thing...

lol wat

im not a yank im british.

i have an a4 printer and a4 card

what you said made no sense to me

The thing with wearable helmets is: your head is probably not by some magical coincidence the exact same size as the head of someone else. So even if you print it exactly the right scale as it was designed, that doesn't mean it will fit your head properly.
In Pepakura, in the bottom right corner, it tells you the height, width and depth. Scale it in Pepakura so these numbers will match with what should fit over your head, then print it without adjusting the scale (because if you adjust the scale, those numbers aren't correct anymore obviously. If the parts don't get cut off without rescaling when you're asked, there's no problem.
I don't know which Master Chief helmet you're building, but usually if you a helmet with all the parts attached, you'll find out that your head is bigger than your neck. ;)

Doing a life-sized helmet that requires scaling as your first papercraft was probably not a good idea.

lol because it requires scaling??
Any papercraft is good as your first papercraft, as long as it's about a subject you like so you'll be motivated enough to spend the necessary time and effort on it. I suspect OP is a HALO fan.

you'll do fine.

No, because it's a large papercraft that is apparently complicated enough that they sought assistance with us.

Good luck to OP anyway.

I suppose you're not going to try to make a wearable helmet then?

Lol so that explains the red stains on some of the parts.

yes i am trying to make a wearable helmet :(

and that scale is wrong, only just noticed when you pointed it out but i have found the pieces that go around the bottom and it looks head size to me.

I'm drafting my new FAQ entry, so far the edit looks like this:
"A recommendation to all cardmodelers with IQs under 60, i.e. 4channers, downers, politicians, spics and niggers, a helmet may be worn on the head to reduce the occurrence of facial and cranial lacerations."
