You need to press it against scissors for the folds and use a pin/needle (Anything like that) for the complicated bits like opening the folds into wings. Also, without the aid of tools you can get them about as small as 4mm, you'd be surprised!

This was a bit bigger than my smallest I did a few years ago (it was about a mm and a half tall. took hours to fold with pins) but I love it anyways.
