Need a cool papercraft to land a job! RenoRudo
Hey, what's up /po/? While out job-hunting, I came across a shop that gave me a white paper bag for an application. The kind fast food burgers come in. I've gotta make something out of it and bring it back, so I thought I'd make a cool papercraft to impress them. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's an ice-cream shop and their mascot is a cow. Anime stuff would also be great since the people in the shop seem cool with it. Thanks, guys! (^-^)v

Dimesions of paper plox. You probably won't be able to make anything intricate... there was a cow floating around that one of the other namefags had...

First I'd like to say, that's a pretty stupid assignment for a job interview... Kinda like that question "what would you do with a million ping pong balls?" They can't really expect that to be a test about your creative skills and how you handle unsuspected situations... (well they can, and they probably do, but they're stupid for doing so; I'd go apply somewhere else).

I don't really think making a papercraft out of it will impress them (well, they came up with this question, so in your defense, they'll be impressed pretty fast I guess...). But what you'll basically be showing them, is that you are able to instead of a regular paper sheet, you can put a grocery bag in your printer device...
If you really want to do this, origami might be a better way to go than papercraft.

If you still want to work there, put 50 bucks in the bag and hope it's enough.

come on, if /po/ can't figure anything more creative than bribery... ack.

op, have a conedog

What's creative about this? You print it, cut it, and you glue it? And if you don't feel like it, have your 5 year old niece do it (maybe it's a delegetion assignment?) You'll be going back to the shop with something your 5 year old niece can do and you hope they'll be impressed..? You didn't really get the point, did you..?
>> Cotton Eyed Joe
>>100535
maybe not, but I bet its more effort than most of the other applicants for the job would
>> RenoRudo
Sorry, couldn't find my ruler. It's about 14 3/4 inches tall and about 4 1/2 inches wide, I think.

>>100532
I don't have 50 bucks, that's why I need a job! lol You don't get to papercraft for a job application very often, though... I thought it was kinda interesting. Origami might be better, but I'm really inexperienced at it. =P

>>100533
OH, SWEET!!! Thanks so much!!! Conedog is so cute, the girls in the shop will love it! (^,^)/

>>100535
Got any origami suggestions then?
>> RenoRudo
>>100537
Yeah, thanks. Seriously, I desperately need a job, I'm in a bad situation. So hopefully this will impress. I looked online and you should've seen some of the crappy applications that got people hired!

Should I make the puppy into a cow? lol

>>100537
lol stop acting like making a conedog is something special that will get him the job; please, it's embarrassing...

It's a paper BAG right? Maybe you can try to think of something that doesn't totally negate the fact that it's a BAG and not a normal piece of paper...

To speak with>>100533: come on, if /po/ can't figure anything more creative than printing on a paper baginstead of on a normal sheet of paper... ack.
>> RenoRudo
>>100540
Well, I came here for ideas and suggestions and Cotton Eyed Joe was kind enough to help me out. If you have any ideas for the bag that could help, I'm hear to listen. ^-^

Isn't that kind of YOUR challenge?! You're asking us to do your homework, only worse...

What job are you applying for? Making the shop's mascotte? Or are you going to be selling icecream?
Show the guy that you can put as many icecreams in the bag as possible, more than anyone else by stacking them as neatly as possible.

Other than that: YOU are the one that has to show the guy from the icecream shop that you have brains, not Anon.

Put your brains in the bag, and show it to him.

Ha-haa! No, I'm just taking suggestions! It's kinda hard to think with all the stress I've got right now. How can I still keep the paperbag-ness, yet make something to impress? Help a girl out, will ya?

>>100545
LOL! I'm desperate enough to try that!

>>100546
Don't worry so much, the paper bag thing is not going to decide if you get the job or not... That has already be determined by the answers you gave and the impression the shopkeeper got from you during the interview. When he sent you home with the paper bag assignment, he actually meant: "I need you to leave now so I can think about it and I'll let you know when you're supposed to be back with the bag."
>> RenoRudo
>>100547
I didn't have an interview yet. I asked for an application and they gave me the bag and told me to make something out of it. At first I thought they were pulling my leg, but I looked online and it's the real deal. That really is their application process! lol

One girl said her friend made a severed head! lol They seem pretty laid back and cool in there.

of course, i love that place, try to head there every now and then.

really they are just looking for something creative. doesn't necessarily have to be papercraft. you could write a story on it, some poetry, decorate it, make a mask, anything. or just put something creative in the bag. knowing amy's, as long as it is creative and original they'll be all over it.

also, is this amy's downtown or in north austin? the downtown locations are trendier and probably tougher to get a job at

South off Westgate. Thanks for the suggestions, my brain just needs a lot of creative stimulation right now. Can't think of what to turn that darn little bag into! >-<

After seeing the one big happy family site, I think you got hired the moment you asked to be hired. Glue some glitters on the bag in the shape of an icecream cone, and congrats on your new job!

alright then, here is one idea
1. make a paper bag book http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/08/how_to_make_a_paper_bag_book.html
2. write something cool in it
3. decorate it
4. ????
5. PROFIT

good luck miss
>> RenoRudo
>>100556
Thanks, that's sweet! ^-^ They seem really nice, so I hope they'll hire me! I've gotta practice some ice-cream tricks and stunts! lol

>>100557
Thanks! That's a good idea too!

Cutest papercraft cow ever, too bad nobody made Romani's mask from Zelda yet (bit small for a bag though).
I think the guy in the picture made a joint out of the bag for his application, and the girl did what>>100556said: glitters in the shape of an icecream cone. ;)

I don't think they let you do that on your first day. ;)

>>100559
Yeah, that'd be sweet! A Romani/Lon Lon Zelda cow mask! Or the bottle the milk comes in with the cow on the label! Or a papercraft of Link or an anime girl holding that bottle! lol

Paper bag.

Penis.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned it yet? This man needs to make the paper bag penis.

Look up Josef Albers working camera papercraft. If you can find it make it. I've been looking for it for years.
