Why you should shrink your papercraft:
Increased strength
- Halving the length doubles the length:thickness ratio for any given type of paper.
Uses less resources
- Halving the length means using one quarter the ink and paper
More fun
- Just my opinion, I guess.

Also, low-resolution textures are not a problem.

And it takes more effort, but the model looks worse on my shelf.

I disagree about them looking worse, but I thought the fun was supposed to be in making them.

I dunno, the fun for me is in having a tangible manifestation of something cool, like a video game character. It's self-expression.

I generally shrink mine 80% or so but going too small makes it much harder to build and any imperfections stand out that much more.

Effort does not always equate to building fun though. There is a line between challenge and "Oh my god this fucking howl's moving castle sucks why the fuck did I want to do this kill me now." Hehe.

But as for them looking worse, that is entirely based on your skill and the model itself.

I have found some models look better smaller and some have to be done smaller. But usually I do them smaller as a challenge to myself, i.e.; no halving the scale but going from say 1:18 to 1:360, so i can figure out new ways to get the same results on a vastly smaller scale.
