Macross SDF-1 3D models Anonmyous
There was a thread for SDF-1 papercraft but no templates. I have found a few models that could be used for papecraft but maybe too high detail or missing textures.

This is not to scale to other poser models and Pepakura doesn't load it but it includes the model as an .OBJ which will load but without textures and TOO many vertices.

Finally all models of Macross, big and small from the master .. Mechmaster. Unfortunely in Cinema4D format but includes a seperate texture pack.

I loaded the mesh into Metasequoia which reminded me why I hate Metasequoia. It merged every part into ONE object without a single texture. :P Flippin' huge model that will take forever this way to dumb down the vertices for a decent papercraft. Though it is possible to make a transformable SDF-1 with this model.

Just Metasequoia isn't going to do the job...

That's more a "problem" of the file format than of the software you're using. Or does the same file open differently in Metasequoia than it does in 3DS Max for instance?
Fixing existing models to use for papercraft IS a very time consuming process, it's why so many papercrafts aren't very good: many people don't have the patience/time to do so.
There are softwares with features that will reduce the polygon count, but that's not the problem: the problem is that lowering the polygon count needs to be done in such a way, that it gets easier to make in paper. Softwares don't take that into account: they are meant for digital modeling, and will just produce hollow shells, based on some algorithm that doesn't try to make the shapes simpler for papercraft purposes.
Long story short: for better results, do it by hand in a simple software. ;)
For fast results: don't bother except for yourself.
