Rasterbator allows you to blow up pictures so you can spend a fortune in expendables to print them on dozens of sheets of paper, only to watch the finished work fall apart in a matter of weeks.

Pic is related. Note the "posters" to the left are actually many sheets of printer paper printed at a low dpi to increase the size and then put together to form the picture.

Rasterbator allows you to blow up pictures so you can abuse free library printers to print them on dozens of sheets of paper, only to have a FLCL screenshot taking up an entire wall of your dorm.

Actually it's not that bad if you bother to put some effort into chosing a good image and fixing it up in photoshop and then into constructing it properly. I've still got my giant Lelouch ones from last semester at home completely intact.

If you calculate out the costs, this particular poster probably used about a third of my ink cartridges -- a pack of a black and color cartridge for my printer is about $45 -- 42 sheets of cheap printer paper -- the whole ream was only about $3 -- 4 rolls of gift-wrap tape -- about $4 -- and part of a roll of duct tape I found in my garage.

So it comes to about $22 for the poster. Honestly that's not very bad at all if you consider how much it would be to print something of that size 'properly.' And as>>84920mentioned, utilizing library printers and the like can considerably drop the cost even more.

I don't understand why you're bitching about this in /po/ of all places. Why don't you just buy figures instead of wasting time making them out of paper?
>> Anonymous
oh wow is that a wacom cintiq?
>> Anonymous
>>85106
I get your point, but it would have made more sense if he had said "It's called a poster, buy one."
>> Anonymous
>>85111
Yeah, I probably should have used garage kits or made some extended explination of "properly" constructing figures or whatever, but for the sake of brevity I went with buying.

>>85110
Yes it is. And before you ask, no I'm not a pro, I just happen to have parents who are very generous when it comes to birthday/xmas/graduation gifts (but then again, I got the Cintiq rather than a car for graduation, so it's really not as bad as it sounds...).

HA!... this guy made one himself... you could have had the car also!

ooh found the other pic i took, this one shows it a bit better. Still crappy cellphone pics though

I printed it in college... a friend who dropped out still had about 50$ in his printing account that you can only use for schools printers gave me his card. This only cost me about ~20$

I want to do one of these about the size of a poster frame I never got to use because all of my posters are too big for it. I'm still looking for a good photo to use for it.

University printers are the most amazing thing ever.

I get 900 black and white sheets per semester, the only thing that you get charged for is when I want to do color. (However, that will probably change this semester, as that I'm working in a copy shop.)

Last year maybe I used a good third of those sheets towards making rasterbations, either for my dorm, friend's dorms, hallways, insides of bathroom stalls (Jeff Goldblum is watching...), and my favorite example, making an 8 foot tall version of my programming teacher's face and taping it to his projector screen. He loved it.

I didn't have a camera last year, so the only picture that I can find is this shitty facebook one.
