Can't find anything origami with detail online. No hippo papercrafts at all.There's a decent one in John Montroll's "African Animals In Origami"... no access to a camera or scanner at the moment, or I'd give you the seven pages of instructions.

Well, OP, looks like you've found a damned good hippo, Komatsu's. There is a crease pattern at that link. Also, it's diagrammed in Tanteidan magazine #71.
