You might want to use thicker paper to have more straight faces. Also, you should invest in a color printer. They are pretty useful.

Thicker paper wouldn't really be good for small models like this. You do, however, need to work on creasing fold lines before gluing pieces. You should also keep your hands cleaner while assembling.
