anybody has this?
>> Anonymous
I believe that's a 3dpaper.com pay model, but I can't be sure; can't seem to find it on their site. I don't see it archived on any of the fanpages I have marked, so it might not be available; hope I'm proven wrong.

Once again: This is a SLOW BOARD. There is no reason to bump anything on the first page.
>> Anonymous
My god, I've seen this expression used so frequently on the board it's making me insane.

"DOES ANYBODY HAVE THIS?"

Notice the DOES and the HAVE. I'm normally not a nut about these things, but every other request on the board is 'anybody has this?' NO we don't HAVE it.

Sorry again.

Stop saging every post, we already got it that you hate people bumping posts that are still on the first page. We just don't care.

>>30053
Most of them know how to write proper English, it's just some 'hip' way of saying it. Another useless reason to sage a post...... You guys (or are you the same guy?) shouldn't get so worked up over these things, you're not going to change anything and it's bad for your heart.

Yes I can. And I must say: I've seen *way* more difficult models than this one. The hair on this one really isn't difficult. The parts are nice and big, and fit very well.

I'm tired of people getting upset at sages as if they were personal attacks or something. sage does nothing but adding a comment wich is not important enough to bump a thread. well, you maybe are right when people just post the word "sage" and maybe an insult or two, but I don't think this is the case. By the way, I'm a new poster, and sage because I don't consider my post important enough.

>>30076
Neither>>30049nor>>30053use saging because they don't consider their post important enough. If anything, I think they believe their posts are in fact *most important* and think everybody should follow their rules of "no bumping when it's still on the first page" and "use proper English". If this thread hadn't been on the first page when they replied, I'm sure they wouldn't have saged it but bumped it so everybody would read about why they should follow their rules. Thank God you can't become a moderator as easily here as on other boards, 'cause some people seriously act like they'd want the job...

Oh, and by saying "By the way, I'm a new poster", you don't make us believe you are a new poster and have nothing to do with the other sage posts. ;o)

Sage, even though it's the first post on the board at this time, but since this is totally irrelevant and OT, like you said. ;o)
>> Extremely bored !OWteLghTV.
I posted>>30049. No, I would not have bumped it if it weren't on the first page; if I don't come around for a while and something hits the 2nd page, I let it rot there if it's full of useless posts and no new requests.

And SAGE for>>30077not reading the thread and using a stupid catchphrase.

No, really folks, it's not that hard to read a thread, find out what's going on, and then contribute to it IF you have something of value, like>>30060did.

I come on here and sometimes spend a half hour or more finding templates just to help out.

Oh, and for the moderator jab? If it weren't for an email glitch, I would be a janitor for this board. I still have moot's emails... which arrived about 2 weeks late thanks to me using a cruddy webmail. Oh well.

Read the thread. Either nobody from here has it, or whoever has it has yet to spot the thread, and the cart system on the site to buy it isn't working for whoever's willing to pay the 22 bucks. No reason to chime in that you want it; the thread's on page one; folks WILL see it.

I am the one who is unable to buy it, and i want it. so what its on page one, i don't know what your problem is man.. are you the same one thats been yelling at everyone for posting or bumping, and then "sage" everything that isn't important to you? guess what guy, there are more people on earth than you, so how about you be decent to others? what is the problem lately here on po?

Bump. Out of spite.
>> Extremely bored !OWteLghTV.
Man, more flying tempers.

Does anyone realize here that models from 3dpaper.com are printed on double sided card, and even if someone were to buy the figure, scans would have to be spot-on to get good results? Problems came up with their Ragnarok novice and .... Lineage Elf, I think... due to scans not quite printing out even.

I'm still puzzled myself over why any thread that makes it to the second page, no matter how popular, dies, while folks beg and plead for someone to give them a free copy of anything on the first page. That, and why there are so few requests for models overall that aren't repeats of the ones that are still on the back pages.

I'd sage out of spite, but that wouldn't solve anything.

Useless visit for me today; not a single thread that I can help anyone on :(
>> Anonymous
I had to tweak the lineage elf in photoshop on only a couple pages to get the front and back to match up. But your point is valid there.

There are other places to boy it from if you Google around a bit. For instance http://www.moduni.de/product_info.php/cPath/10000000_10600000_10604001_10604030/products_id/6214001
But if you're not in Germany, shipping to "rest of the world" at €25,- will neck you... But my point is: find another store. When buying stuff on the internet (anime DVDs, papermodels, whatever) don't buy from the first webshop you find, most of the time you can get a better deal at another shop.

>>30119Problems came up with their Ragnarok novice and .... Lineage Elf
And the US Soldier, Wehrmacht Soldier, the Lion... And basically every scan ever made of any model that has textures on both sides, yeah...
So me, I usually print only the front side. Saves ink/paper/money and a whole lot of annoyance/time trying to get everything lined up okay too (even if I were to lign up the front and back perfectly in Photoshop, the cardstock in my printer would shift a millimeter and mess it all up again... ;o)
It's a papermodel, not a resin kit, so I don't care if the backside shows white. It doesn't matter to me if the papermodel isn't absolutely lifelike, you'll still be able to tell it's a damn good paper model of a PristonTale archer, even if the backside of the parts is white.

WWII Wehrmacht soldier: http://rapidshare.com/files/6575479/WWII_German_Soldier.zip.html (33,2 MB)

NOTE: Whenever I buy a pre-printed paper model kit, I usually don't want to cut up the beautiful original, so I usually scan them and print them myself (the best kits come with a cd-ROM that let you do that anyway). But with double-sided kits like this, it will be forever a problem to get the front and back aligned properly. So in this case, it's worth the money to use the original parts on these, even though it may seem such a shame to cut them up (actually, most of the cutting has been done for you; but it's still a shame...)

Anyway, these scans aren't mine, and I haven't built them yet myself (since I'm in dubio to order them myself and use the original double-printed parts...), but my guess is, the front and back probably won't be aligned properly and there might be other problems that I don't know of. Then again, it's also possible that they're aligned perfectly and there are in fact no other problems. Who knows. ;o)

The biggest problem is, that on my printer, the paper isn't guided all the way through. I have to slide some plastic piece against the top of the paper, and another against the side of the paper and that's all the "guidance" there is. So when it starts pulling the paper through the printer, the paper always get shifted like a millimeter or so. So if you have the front and back perfectly aligned in photoshop, this "shifting" will still mess things up.
You really need a lot of precision if you want to do something like this; a millimeter is a lot when folding small parts and the foldlines are on the back and the textures are on the front (like on the head of the archer model).
I'm very happy with the quality of my prints on my current printer, but I dare not try printing double-sided when precision is needed. ;o)

I just got it in, I'l take it to work with me tomorrow and try to scan it all in, only a few problems:
- All sheets are bigger than my scanner (I'll try to scan them on our A3 scanner, to see if the resolution is acceptable)
- all parts are pre-cut, nice for me, but very hard to scan
- all parts are double sided, the back's only seem to have guides, so that shouldn't be too hard to figure out, I'll scan both sides and make some alignment marks.
one last 'problem' I want to start now, I cant wait until tomorrow evening. ;-)

I suppose you could take the parts out, and scan them that way. Just make sure you dont lose them afterwards...
>> Anonymous
>>30710All sheets are bigger than my scanner
Maybe that's on purpose, as a kind of "copy-protection"... Oh well. ;o)

>>30713I suppose you could take the parts out, and scan them that way.
I think scanning the parts while they're still attached to the page would be much better! Please try that first...

Anyway: are you going to use the original parts for your own build? Or are you going to use the scanned version? The original parts will undoubtedly look better. But it would be a shame if you mess up (and sometimes the pages look so great, I think it would be a shame to cut them up...). With a scanned version, you can always print a part again. ;o)
>> Mirror Spock
I plan to leave the parts on the sheets whein I scan then, I'm afraid you woun't be able to see the tabs (white tabs on white paper, there are no black outlines to scan.

I havn't decided yet if I'll use the original or if I'll copy the parts to some nice 120 grams paper using our color copier at work.
>> Anonymous
>>30722

Why not try half scans instead? Then someone here that's got time on their hands (or desperate enough) could actually join them together again (photoshop or what not) then shrink them down (or blow them up for bigger models) into regular sized sheets.
>> Anonymous
one hundred internets to you guy

>> Anonymous
>>30744
Because lots of people want to make a name for themselves, they go like: "I will be the one that will paste the two halves together!", they think it'll be easy, but in the end, the result may look like crap...
And you don't need to shrink the images so they'll fit on regular sized paper: you just set your printer setting to 90% or something...
The original plan is best: scan the pages as they are...
I do hope the tabs will be *somewhat* visible, though. Wouldn't want to ruin a papercraft like this because I have to guess where the tabs are... ;o)
>> status Mirror Spock
quick update, I finished scanning all pages, all pages are double sides, only two of those pages have important stuff on the back. the others only habe part numbers. The 600 dpi scans show the tabs perfectly, but cause the files to be a bit on the large side, I'll photoshop them together tomorrow and resize them to something more managable, 600Mb is pushing it a bit.
>> Anonymous
300dpi is the highest res you need for any type of printing. Thank you so much please please please post.
>> Mirror Spock
I scanned at a higher-than-needed dpi to help with alignment, all pages are scanned in two parts.

Actually, I find 720 or 1440 to be better. Anything below 360 and you are getting into low quality prints.
>> Upload complete Mirror Spock
I finished uploading the parts and put them on a temporary site:
http://4chan.mirrorspock.com/
it still needs to be stitched together by some photoshop guru (it? probably easyier to only join the split parts, and not the full pages.

oh, and I put a donation link on the side, this is ofcourse completely optional, I don expect any money for this, but if we reach the 15-20 $ I could buy another model and repeat the process. :) ( something like this http://www.hlj.com/product/WNM29817 )

>>30822
Too bad, wish you'd scanned the pages in one part...
Still nice of course. And absolutely no trouble seeing the tabs. ;o) I think you could've used a lower resolution to reduce filesize, without losing quality on the printed parts.
>>30801Actually, I find 720 or 1440 to be better. Anything below 360 and you are getting into low quality prints.
That's true when you're printing poster size, not when you're printing A4 or US letter paper, 300 dpsi is fine for that. (about 16 times (4 square) smaller than 1200 dpsi...)

>>30843
Personally, I'd love that, if you wouldn't mind go trough the trouble of scanning all those pages again...
These may be high quality, but it's gonna be nigh impossible to align these correctly. That high quality of the scans will be counter-acted by the poor quality of alignment.
Many of you will say: "I'm a photoshop wiz and I can do it!" Go ahead then, but I'll wait for the new scans. ;o)
No paper model that you need to paste the two halves together has ever turned out as great as the original one.
