Paper and Glue Anonymous
Hey /po/
What are some good paper weights and glue brands that you would recommend? Right now I'm using regular printer paper and a regular glue stick. They make my models look like crap. What do you use?

160GSM A4 paper (england here)
i had been using a hot glue gun which dried super fast and was really helpful.

has anyone used that UHU squeezy tube stuff, i am a student now and that is cheaper than a glue gun and sticks. i am just wondering if it dries as fast as a glue gun and does it get everywhere? i want to avoid superglue but want it to set fast and solid. is UHU what i want? cheers :)

UHU ftw. It takes slightly longer to set than hotglue (depends on which brand you use etc) but I use craft UHU specifically for use on paper and card - works wonders and dries really quickly.

cheers, i shall go out and purchase some next chance i get.

another bonus is that (could have been a dodgy glue gun) the glue gun won't sit on the desk dripping everywhere if i don't use it fast enough.

it still sets in a matter of seconds though does it? i just remember i made an arwing and used a pritt stick.. NEVER AGAIN. it took soooooo long to dry it was unbelievable. the whole thing must have taken me hours rather than minutes to make.

UHU, stringiness, glue spots, tackiness, and after a few years it breaks down and releases. Yeah, real fucking great glue, morons. Come back after you've used it for 6 years.

do you not think there is a chance that after 6 years they may have improved the formula?

and if it was so bad why have you been using it for 6 YEARS? considering you are all too quick to call someone a moron, that doesn't seem like the smartest thing in the world does it?

you could have given your opinion/view in a much nicer /po/-like way without being an ass.

I use glue sticks (whatever cheap ones I find), and super glue. Glue stick is a pain to apply (chunks get cut off by the tabs, you get it all over your fingers, etc) and takes a while to dry, but in general it gives a good bond and is really lightweight. For straighforward parts the gluestick and sometimes some tape is all you need, but for parts that need to be held together to dry, I just add a couple of dots of super glue. With the glue stick underneath the superglue, you still have a few seconds to reposition before the superglue hardens, and it holds things together while the glue stick dries. Sometimes I do the really tricky parts with just superglue. The downside is that it sticks to your fingers instantly and hurts like hell to get off.

This is all for 110 lb cardstock. I haven't done anything with paper yet.

Best I've found.

never seen that before... looks promising... and longer lasting than the tiny tubes of superglue I have now.

I had to laugh at the typo on the description, though- "...and dows not run"
