Also, post pictures of the Metal Sonic from Sonic Heroes that you want. If someone is going to be recoloring this stuff, we might as well not have to look for references.

There have been a few people offering to make papercrafts. I think this would be awesome if someone actually made it.

I might get around to this. Right now I'm still working on the chokipeta link that's in another thread, and I'm scheduled to go take a 3 hour drive to see my boyfriend again. He wasn't telling me that he was having trouble with his classes and had a nervous breakdown last week. I'm going to see what I can do to help him help himself better in the future.

But someone gave me some pictures ITT for the Metal Sonic, so that will probably help me with the coloring. I gave away the Sonic I made to a friend who's also a huge fan of the series.

I think what I'll do to try and help me figure out how to texture the template is the following:

I'll print out two versions in black and white. One of these I'll use to put a mock up together, and draw basic lines for where I need to change things. I'll then take that version apart and match the pieces back with the second b&w version. The color version I'll put together just so I have another Sonic again, since it was something I planned to do awhile back but never got around to doing.

Also, is it fine if I go ahead and not remake the instruction page to fit the template? The pieces are going to be the same except for the color.

I'll go do some searching on my own for other pictures, post the best ones for reference here, so if someone else thinks they'll be able to work on it within the next two or three weeks, then they can.

I'm going to try to get the Link figurine finished at least somewhat before I leave home, so I'll only be able to do that one for now. I don't know how long I'll be gone, but I'll try to get some time to do preliminary work while I'm with my bf.

It looks like you want Neo Metal Sonic. There's a lot of parts on him that aren't on Sonic. I'll do it if it's just recoloring, but if I have to make new parts as well, then it's too much for me.

I started looking in Google, and there are a bunch of Metal Sonics just from Sonic Heroes, since he keeps upgrading himself in the game.

I have had a hard time finding more images in Google than what are already posted, at least with quick searches. If someone could give me a picture or tell me what Neo Metal Sonic looks like from the back, that would be helpful.

Here's wikipedia's picture of Neo Metal Sonic.

Since Neo Metal Sonic still have his turbine like body I guess is back is the same as in his normal version.

Okay, thanks. That will also mean that the spike on the back of Sonic's body will have to come off. In the papercraft that's already been posted of Sonic, there's a spike on the back of the body, and it tends to be the spot where the entire body is brought together. That same spike in the back might work as shoulder pads for Neo Metal Sonic.

Just don't make to body a ball like in this pic, the in game body was much more thiner, like in>>41982

For the most part I'm only going to be redoing the texture to make it look like Neo Metal Sonic. The only thing I might mess with are the shoulders, because the ones on Neo Metal Sonic are very prominent, and close to the face as well.

Oh wow. Thanks for that link. I got this link from that link.

It looks like if someone knows how to import files from 3D Studio Max into Pepakura, then this might be the route to take. All of the papercraft and origami work I deal with here is on my iMac, so I haven't used Pepakura Designer. I think I have the Pepakura Designer hack somewhere on the iMac, though. It doesn't do me a lot of good there, I know.

Let us know how nice the ripped models look, okay?

I downloaded Blender to see what I could find in the Metal Sonic file. To be more specific, I believe "Metal Sonic Bundle Pack - both playable and non-playable versions in one archive" was the one I was dealing with, but I'm not certain. Anyway, I remember in the altmetalsonic folder there were two .3ds files. The Metal Sonic Tube one is the one that has the 3D data for Metal Sonic. Someone just got Google Sketchup Pro and wants to try it out on a model. I think I'm going to go over and give that user the url to the file.

Can you upload it on a file host? I've got all of the software to edit the mesh and take it into pepakura.

The people who were originally ripping the models from the game also uploaded them online. The direct link for the altmetalsonic.zip folder that has the two small .3ds files. One of the .3ds files is for the playable in-game metal sonic, and the other one is the file for a 3D version of metal sonic. The one you want will have "tube" in the file. Here is that direct link:
http://mikelim0.cjb.net:1337/knuxt15/models/altmetalsonic.zip

If you want to look around at other files that they ripped for possibilities of other Sonic characters to use for papercraft, this is the link:

If this doesn't take care of it, and you need it on a file sharing site, then I uploaded it here:

Much thanks. I dropped the files in pepakura designer just to see where they were at.....much work needed. I have them in cinema 4d now and am reduing the polygons and the unecessary diagonal facets. Mayprint tomorrow and do beta/markup/coloring and then into CorelDraw for final coloring and then to pdf,and then to you,my /po/ peeps!

Much thanks to you as well for offering to make the papercraft. I figured there would be a lot of work that needed to be done to the model after looking at it in Blender. I wasn't certain though, since I'm new to using 3D modeling programs. For now I'm starting out with freeware programs, like Blender and MetasequoiaLE.

How is the modeling and texturing going?
