Except it sucks, it all fits together when I assemble it, but it doesn't hold together too well, please advise as to how I can make this structurally better, im sure my design has some horrible flaws and mistakes in it.

Top left is what the final product should look like from the front (except a bit of one arm missing). Top right is is the center of the thingy, where the five arms all connect. Middle left is the inside tube of the top half of an arm, middle right is the top half of an arm, bottom left is the bottom half of an arm, bottom right is what fits into the little triangle space at the bottom of an arm.

please halp I dont know how to brain spatially

It's very difficult to imagine you need to do, because everything the whole sheet of paper is white with only thin lines. A good thing to do might be to make the glue flaps stand out more like make their edges at a 45 degree angle instead of straight, and maybe color them grey or something. A 3D picture of what you're supposed to build would also be very helpful, or just a picture of your finished build.

Further, I was wondering why on each side of the parts, they looked a little short, and I didn't understand the cut line that went halfway down.
Now I think that instead of glueing them you're supposed to lock them together by sliding one slit down the other? That's not the "normal" way, so I thinknot many people would get that right away (I'm not even sure if that's the idea?)

The fact that it doesn't hold well together, is because this kind of joint isn't very strong like this: the strips that you cut are very long and thin so it's very loose and you can move it all kinds of ways. There's nothing that you can do about it except use a different kind of joint.

I would just use glue flaps, but if you really want to use that method (if that is what you meant to do) then a small schematic of how it works would do wonders. It's also a good idea to use different types of lines for when you need to fold up (valley fold) or down (mountain fold).

yeah the slits is for locking together, I have decided it sucks.

I'm afraid on this particular model, it does... ;)
Like I said, the thin strips are too thin and flimsy to keep it all together, Making glue flaps will make it easier to understand how to assemble it I think and it will also be stronger.
