Inkjet or Laser printer? Anonymous
/po/, which is better for papercraft, an Inkjet or a laser printer? I have both and the laser printer prints out a lot of copies very quickly, but everthing it prints seems glossy and shiney. I've been planning on making that Eucadian ultra-realistic, 37 page warhawk model but I dont know which printer to use. The inkjet that will most likely run out of ink in 37 pages, or the laser, which prints everything glossy?

personally i wish i had a laser printer for the glossy look, it makes your models look nicer and more professional...and if you're making a metal craft out of paper wouldn't the glos make it look like shiny metal?

you ask a silly question, nothing beats a colored laser printer. i print all my papercrafts with it, at work of course

Depends on the quality of your laser printer.
Laser printing works by basically melting plastic particles on the surface of the paper. If your laser printer isn't high quality, this layer might get tiny cracks when you try to fold/bend it (which is kinda the basis for papercraft).
So try it, and see if this happens. If not, then you could just use whichever gives you the best quality.

Some people complain that laser prints show white edges along scored fold lines, and that inkjet is better because the color soaks into the paper. I always get white showing with laser or inkjet, but I have found that if the paper is folded with a tight curvature, the laser print is more prone to show white in other places, if the paper is pulled into a tight curvature. The laser pigment on the surface cracks, just a little.
