Pepakura help Anonymous
Hello /po/, where would you go if you had questions about google sketchup + pepakura designer?

My problem, as pictured, is this: i made a simple shape consisting of a cube with all sides extruded (like a 3d asterisk-thingy). I opened it in pepakura designer, and after some fiddling it seems to think the original cube (whose faces I extruded) still exists.

I'm kinda new to this. Where should I ask?

I'm fairly sure that Sketchup has help forums, but in this case, I think you need to zoom into the figure, pick the original six faces, and delete them.

You could also do the unfolding by checking the edges on pepakura; purposely detach all the edges of the inner cube, and if the unfolding tries to add any tabs to them, use the edit tabs function to take them back away.

Ah. My bad, I was assuming the model was correct and it was a pepakura fault. After zooming inside in Sketchup I found and deleted the original faces, now everything's fine.

Thank you!

Yeah, one of the things Pepakura does is that if there's a hidden face, it makes it.

That's why so many models that get extracted from games need major cleanup; when you're gaming, a hidden face just isn't seen, and doesn't detract from the game. It wreaks havoc if you want a paper model, though.

relevant question, and it's been killing me for weeks now. What do I do to open something created in sketchup 6 to open it with pepakura? the only file types the model can be saved as are .skp, and similar things, none of which I see listed in pepakura.

Google Earth formats... kml, kmz

If you have Pepakura Designer installed, hit F1 in it and pick "Supported File Format" in the left column for more info.
