I need to get a new compact camera. What's a good mid-range point and shoot ($250-300 max)?

Right now considering the Panasonic TZ5.

not a canonfag here, and i own a TZ5.

i love this camera but wait for the LX3 to come out next month or whenever.

my flatmate asked me about a new camera, first thing i said before i realised was Canon A-Series.

why doesn't anyone ever suggest the G series?

Less oomph per greeback. The g-series has a market, but if you're part of it, you don't need to ask for advice on what camera to buy.

kodak m1033

Because the A series gives you almost the same things that the G series does, and many of the advantages can be unlocked with CHDK. The A series is also half as expensive as the G series.

Hotshoe and no Hotshoe is not almost the same.

One define a proper camera, the other a toy.

what is this nikon doing in a canon thread?

The lighting is more important than the camera, gearfags. A properly bounced/diffused/fill flash from a 430EX and G9 will look better than a full front flash from 530EX and 1Ds Mk3.

also, the G9 will sync faster than your LOL REBEL LOL
