Sell your camera on eBay.

I've succumbed to the fact that I will never make a cent out of this hobby.

op here.

no way im selling my camera on e bay. I have a ton of fun with it. I've just been searching the internet, and I'm wondering if anyone on here has actually done weddings photography, or photojournalism for profit. Anything like that. Any sort of local stuff. Just looking for some ideas. Thanks though.

I shoot for a scouts magazine. should work my way through my backlog photos I have to develiver them (hires negative scans) and renew my contract though.

already photographed one wedding, no idea if I'll do a second.

I'd really like to find a gig that pays me to be a photographer. I just dont want to do weddings or childrens holiday portraits.

I agree.

Try selling your camera.
>> back from the bar... pskaught
I've made a few bucks. nothing that would warrant me quiting what I do, but some day... Some day when I'm nice and old.

which would never require doing weddings or headshots anymore, more because I don't enjoy them and I can't do it the way I want to.. and I hate the idea of marriage and becoming an actor.

mostly I've made my money with small fashion designers and models that want something different from what they have.

What sort of area are you in, and How did you make the networking connections? Theres a few photographers around here like that. I used to take a lot of pictures of girls when I was younger. Then I turned 18 and had to delete them all. I'm older now, and I've realized I prefer tasteful photography. I always had a camera around, But I didn't start having a NICE camera around and actually loving photography till recently.

I have done a small amount of weddings and product shots. I prefer grip work over photography because I am weird and the fact that I hate weddings.

Amen on the marriage part.

Are you sure you're on the right website?

Quite the mistake. If you'd kept them, you would've had a good way to make money with your camera. Take heed, OP.

I've sold one photograph to a magazine (cover) and done some potrait photography and stuff.

Hopefully someone will someday pay me for doing the kind of photography I like. (Which would be something near fashion and photojournalism, or both at once, ha ha!)

One of my photos has been published in a major daily here, but I only got an acknowledgment. Better than nothing, I guess.

i've made enough money getting photos published to pay for my camera, but only while earning at a rate i'd estimate in the area of $10/hr. shooting, selecting and postprocessing a selection of a handful from few dozen to a few hundred shots for an article takes me a few hours, and even then i only sell one to five shots at a price of $5 each. on top of that, that's just supplemental to my writing which pays $35/article.

so no. i have not found any GOOD ways to make money with my camera.
