This was taken with the kit 18-55 mm lens supplied with my Nikon D90, cropped and resized by Aperture.
Most lenses, and the camera they're attached to, are capable of Macro, it's just a matter of zooming in while staying at a distance that the camera, or yourself, can focus upon.
Of course, there are specialist macro lenses, but how much money you outlay depends on your needs.
