When doing macro shots with low depth of field, you should photograph the subject in profile so you can get its entire body in focus.

Boring photo, but technically OK.

I wish the lighting was better though.
OP should consider getting a macro ring flash if he wants to keep shooting bugz.

I haven't really thought about getting into macro photography, but I haven't tried macro with a real camera/lens setup so I can't really tell.
