hay /p/, may I have your attention for a minute.
I've made up my mind and put away enough money to sink into slr world, after practicing with a superzoom for a few years. I'm buying a sony A300, found no better deal for a camera with optical stabilization, live view and a tiltable screen, but I'm not very keen on the kit lens, the sony 18-70 3.5-5.6: do anybody know a good walkaround cheap lens from sigma/tamron or should I be in peace with the kit (it's only 43 euros more than body only)? in b4 sonyfail, butterfag etcetera.

I bought a Tamron 17-50 for my canon 30d this Saturday and I really like it. I don't know if they make it for sony but if you got the money you should look into it.

You can use the entire Minolta AF/Maxxum back catalog of lenses. If you want a cheap fast prime, Minolta made a 50/1.7 that's pretty awesome. You can find them on ebay floating around the $100 mark.

Im relaxing!

The 18-70 isnt a bad lens, unless you shoot landscapes or sport there isnt much wrong with it as a beginer lens.

the 50/1.7 is a great lens but its quite long on the crop, not so useful for day to day shooting.

Im getting a 20-40/2.8 sigma next, mostly because i need the fast apreture but it would make a decent walkaround if you can find one. Is fucking hueg tho (82mm front!)

Also the ISO stuff is the A700, dont worry about it.
