it gives pretty impressive results. If you have enough light, stop your lens down to f8, but it doesnt look like you do have enough.

This is actually really impressive for what it is. I went to the store today after seeing this and almost bought one of those bulbs, but I couldn't find any of the power adapters for them so I ended up leaving without it.

And I'm not going to argue with you or waste my time responding to everything you said because that's all it is; a waste of my time.

But no, ringlights are no "out of fashion" you moron. They're as common as ever and plenty of studio and fashion photographers still use them. You probably just don't notice them in some magazines because, like I said earlier, they look best when used in conjunction with other light. Not every ringflash picture has the halo-esque shadow or catchlights.

What are you even raging about Strobist for? Who even _mentioned_ Strobist? I do read the blog, but not as often as you seem to think (maybe once every 2 weeks or so, or if I'm looking for information on something specific) and now I think you're just lashing out at whatever you can. Insulting someone for reading a lighting technique blog, good or bad, is silly.

still all comes down to the art director

photographers have little say unless they approve your idea

and if you get a douchebag director, she'll ask you to do that zOMG glossy fashion look :D!

because the women are always the worst directors
>> sage !i/euDJmWr2
>>224087
Yeah, what I meant was that fashion portrait are rarely 100% original because just about everything has been done before (talking about setup, not necessarily wardrobe or makeup) and some "originality", frankly, looks like crap. :P

Not being a completely original piece of work isn't a bad thing, if it's a good picture then it's a good picture regardless of how "played out" the technique is.

I read strobist for the DIY stuff, actually...Im a hugeee DIYfag. I've read only one or two articles on actual lighting there.

Ringlights do more than just give interesting catchlights and make a wrap-around shadow, they work really well as fill lights and it's still got a distinctive look to it.

>>that's what people usually say when they lose an argument, but thanks for playing

Actually, that's what I say when I've been in a really good mood all day and I don't want to ruin it by getting in a pointless argument with you. But if it makes you feel better, you can tell yourself you "won" or whatever, I don't mind. :)

>>if you hide the halos and catch lights, then it's not a fucking ring light picture anymore because you have the decency to be using other lights

What? Who ever said you could only take halos and catch light pictures with a ringlight? Even if you add other lights, you're still using a ringlight. Just as you'd make a pretty regular picture with a lomo camera, it's still taken with a lomo camera, right? We're not talking about OP pictures, we were talking about ringlights being played out.

And uh...I've used the line "it sure is samefag in here" once, and that was a few days ago. Other than that, I actually get accused of being a samefag more than I accuse other people of it...people just like to say all tripfags say samefag all the time. Whatever.

I'm also pretty sure I've never said that a post of mine wasn't mine because uh...I'm a tripfag, you know? No one has ever bothered to figure out my tripcode, so if you see my actual tripcode then it's a pretty good chance it's me...
