If you're using CPU lenses, you can even use AA mode so you don't have to worry about messing up manually setting the aperture for the thyristor Auto. The DX flashes have become great bargains lately, I think people have a bias against them because they're perceived as being only for the D1/D100. All of them make excellent TTL flashes on film bodies and the 28 and 80 make excellent thyristor flashes on the newer DSLRs. I picked up my 50DX for $10 in mint condition and it's become my usual daylight fill flash.
