Sup guys.

Photo Arts class forces me to use 35mm manual cameras on BW film... Oh the humanity.

Actually I'm quite enjoying it, not gonna lie. I've always been about digital but now that I'm being forced to use 35mm it changes things; you really have to think about your shots a lot more.

Anyway, here are some examples. Let me know what you think. This first one's a self portrait.

Loves you.

Thanks. Wouldn't have happened if my professor didn't shove Triex into our hands and force us to use it. I'm glad he did.

He's saying they're boring.
I'd say they're somewhat better than the guitar guy.

I would agree that they're kind of boring, actually.. but I have to follow the criteria of the assignments.

Also, guitar guy is a noob, so I really hope these are at least a little better.

Can I include these photos in my book called "Why Art School Sucks Balls and Creates a Bunch of Faggots Who Think They're Onto Something But Really They Suck"?

feeling like being honest and straightforward tonight:

#1 is self-absorbed. same with #6 for that matter. they don't reveal any insight, other than you're obsessed with looking cool and that you're thoroughly a member of the abysmal ipod generation. you can't even see your face, for chrissakes.

#2 is boring. it's banal street photography, and it's been done to absolute death. this kind of photo relies heavily on capturing a very specific moment that relies on context, surroundings, etc. this is just a random moment with a random guy making a bored random expression. same goes for #7. best avoid all together. robert frank and HCB did it best, there's basically no way to do it better, avoid like the plague.

#3 is pretty cool. good composition, great sense of hustle and bustle.

#4 is similarly great. i don't like her right hand showing there, and i don't like the tilt, but the contrast of patterns is terrific. explore this idea for greater effect and purpose.

#5 can just be grouped in with 7 and 2.
