Canon XTi Anonymous
With the new XSi coming out XT's and XTi's are dropping in price..

What are your thoughts on the XTi? Keep in mind the value.. Also what kind of lenses do you recommend?

I haven't shot with it, just played with ones in stores, but it'll be fine. Only problems with it are what faces all entry-level DSLRs, pretty much: one control dial, bad viewfinder. It'll take perfectly good photographs. I'll let someone more knowledgeable take a comparison between the XT and XTi, but any DSLR will produce an image of excellent technical quality. (In other words, just buy the damn thing and take some pictures.)

I'd suggest starting with a 28mm prime of your choice as a main lens, the 50/1.8 for a portrait/reach lens because it's so cheap, and an 18-55 IS for wide angles and again because it's so cheap.

XSi ships in April, don't bother with it. Buy an XT or XTi and put all the money into lenses.
