What kind of retarded shit did you photogs do when you were new(er) at photography? I know all of you have done something embarrassing.

For me, I used to add "film" borders to my pictures. Don't know why, just thought they were cool I guess a few years ago. That and only shoot in JPG. In b4 vignette dog, unsharp mask, etc.

I still fucking love selective desat. I know it falls under "insta-art," but, dammit, I still love it.

Shit I've corrected(or are working on):

Too much Photoshop(I was a sucker for filters and all sorts of fancy shit, now I pretty much just use curves and the occasional white balance tweak.)

Tendency to shoot quantity instead of quality. Possibly comes from doing action photo stuff for too long. Too often I would just go out and shoot 30 of the same shot, just varying shit wildly and hoping it would work. Talk about fucking stupid.

Tamron 18-200mm lens as my primary. Talk about a waste of money, since everything past about 70mm looks like shit. Below 70mm, however, it isn't too bad. Only problem is that I wasted money on an extra 130mm that never gets used.

lol, that film border is hilarious

it's funny how people think there's something wrong with shooping (even with filters) .. when it's just that most people suck at it.
especially the ones that bitch at others for using it

Non-standard AR crops should not be done, and cropping should be avoided alotgether, imo.

In my camera P is for Perfect and A is for Awesome priority.

Dial in the desired amount of awesome and the camera sets the appropriate amount of...fuck my sense of humor sucks

On topic, I was convinced that my pictures of people's backs on the street constituted "street photography".

Shots from head height.

Not moving my feet and instead zooooooming to the subject with the lens.

Shot in P
Selective Desaturation
Borders
Shot flowers :(

I still do use vignetting a little bit. I think I need to ween myself from that slowly. Other than that, I don't do much photoshopping, mainly just a few adjustments in Lightroom.

On a point and shoot I started out with, I thought "P" stood for "photographs" and "m" stood for "movies."
>> eku !8cibvLQ11s
I thought photoshop was only for bad photographers.
I shot all my photos in P mode (like it would have mattered did I use P or Av on my old Powershot A80).
I thought dA was nice place (god I hate that place now "YAY! HAPPY TOGETHER! YAY, YOU'RE SO SUPER! YAY!")
Photographed things which everyone else always photographs when they get their first camera. Pseudonicelookingthings.

Oh yeah, I also once did one selective desaturation.

>>189849
you DON'T add vignetting in da shoop
>> Depressed Cheesecake !wFh1Fw9wBU
What's wrong with P with a flash :(
>> Anonymous
>>189939
Why not use aperture priority? And if you know what you're doing with the flash, you'll be shooting full manual to control how exposed the background is or isn't, etc.
>> Anonymous
>>189939

absolutely nothing wrong w/ P even w/o flash if you get the end result you want.. people need to stop being pretentious faggots
>> Anonymous
>>189981

Also, don't forget that if there is ANY sign of vignetting, HDR, or selective desaturation the photo is AUTOMATICALLY bad.
>> Anonymous
>>189981
Fucking right. Or is a P 2.8 | 1/60 somehow more awesome than an Av 2.8 | 1/60. Everyone else, get over yourselves.

>>189987
You know, vignetting can actually happen in the camera, right?
>> Anonymous
>>189993
You're missing the point. Only a few blockheads say anything matters except the final result. The argument for manual (or even aperture priority) is that it gives the photographer more control and lets him choose exactly how the picture will come out, assuming he knows what he's doing.
