I have a Konika/Minolta Maxxum 7D digital SLR. And I'm buying a new flash card for it (I'm using an old microdrive at the moment), but I'm not sure what the max write speed of the camera is. I was thinking about buying a 16gb 133x card, but for a little bit more I can get an 8gb 266x card. But I'm not sure if the camera will even take advantage of the extra 20MB/s. Does anyone know if I'm wasting my money by buying the faster card?

pic related in that I took it with my 7D

I bought the mini drive because back when I got the camera, 1 gig flash cards at reasonable speeds were several hundred dollars, I got the mini drive for like 80 bucks. And I never thought about it again. And now I just realized it's been several years and technology does progress and I probably should upgrade my card, if not my camera.

Make sure your camera can handle 4GB+ capacity cards first.

I don't have an answer to your actual question, but even disregarding speed, you might want to go for multiple 8G (or even 2G or 4G) cards instead of one big 16G card. It'd seriously suck to lose 16 gigs of pictures when a card goes bad. Still suck to lose 8, but perhaps a bit less.

The 7D doesnt have that high fps, my A100 (same fps) doesnt buffer out on a 133x.

That said, get lots of smaller cards instead.
