so i made this as a mothers day present last mothers day and sent it to a site to get a digital print of it

its a panorama pic i stitched together in Photoshop from a series of 2-3 pictures, i cant remember. it was taken in an old farm location right down the road from my house, the house is vacant, dude across the street owns it and uses the large barn and stuff off to the side, but thats besides the point. it was taken literally the day of mothers day, and the sun was about 45 minutes from completely setting.

im completly new to /p/ so what do you guys think?

I'll be nice, however i'm still going to be critical

Since you printed it, you may want to watch your ratios for the future, 3:1 = typical and IMO Best pano size (3 times the width for the height) Your picture is too tall to print that way. but could be fixed by cropping it.

Also theres too much ground and not enough sky (The ground is very boring patterned and unchanging, and also a bit too bright compared to the subject of the trees / house)

Would have been nice with more trees and sky in the frame, Also a better exposure / editing so that the sky wasn't blown white and yet the trees were still vibrant.

IF the house is the subject (I think it is) Put it at the thirds mark of the shot, And work your way left or right of there. In this case the trees on the right look a bit more interesting than the blown sky.

However, you did a few things well, 1 exposures look like they matched, Color balance matched aswell, and the stitching job is error free.

well, the photo is printed already, and has been framed in and hanging up in our living room for a while now. it looks pretty good, and i knew it was a wierd aspect ratio, which is why it was hard to find a place to print it.

i had at least 20 pictures that i took that day from different positions, with about 6 or so shots per panorama set. since the sun was so low to the ground at the time, all the other picture that were directed more towards the sun turned out way too exposed. it should be noted, this was a film camera, not digital, and i did have a polarized lens cap i used.
also, i would have loved more sky and less ground, but the ones i shot with more sky were killed by the sun. this pic is one from slightly to the left of that picture, which had an awesome looking sky, but above the house was nothing particularly interesting to look at

You just weren't equipped to deal with the massive Dynamic range that was present. a Graduated ND filter was kind of your only hope
That or nail the exposure and edit the shots after scanning in photoshop.
For next time now you know

Also, If you do a lot of panoramics, some stuff in here may help you.
