I had a funeral to attend today, dropped by a local thrift store afterwards.

Bought all of these plus a little toy camera for my nephew for $4.50. I love those places sometimes.

So how was the funeral? Was there a hot widow?

My last thrift store find was a Canon Sure Shot Tele 80. As I recall, it was like $3, including the roll of unexposed film that was sitting in it. I put 6 rolls through that little guy that trip. It was a lot of fun.

So go shoot some rolls of film. Pictures from cameras are more interesting than pictures of cameras.

one has to wonder why this was taken in your, i'm guessing, bathroom

hahh...the lady in the casket was my 81 year old great aunt, and my uncle isn't really the youngest or most attractive guy.

And I totally agree. The Canon has a roll of film in it now. I threw some batteries and a roll of film in, cleaned the dust off the lens, and started shooting right out of the store. Still have 10ish shots left on it.

I've still got to find some film for the Instamatic, hah. I haven't seen one of these in ages, my older sister used to have a broken one that I played with when I was really young. Really looking forward to it just for nostalgia value.

The Ansco needs a really good cleaning but other than that it looks to be in really good condition, I'll load it up tomorrow probably.

I passed up on a Minolta panorama camera today. I really wish I'd gotten it now, despite the fact that part of it was trashed, just because it was only $0.50. Oh well, still happy with my purchases considering the functionality.

Wait, is that Canon a rangefinder? The top of it looks like it, but the "auto-focus" thing makes me think it isn't. And the lens.

What's the deal?

It's not a rangefinder, but it's similar in theory. The focusing is fully automatic and the user doesn't actually manually do anything in operation other than trip the shutter. It's autofocus works similar to a rangefinder, however, by trangulation.

So it's technically just a viewfinder-esque point and shoot. The lens, however, is remarkably sharp (assuming mine isn't in worse condition than it appears to be) and it's far from a bad camera. It's definately the highlight of my purchase.

Plus, the pop-up flash is just adorable, regardless of being pretty much useless to me.

he's going to finish one roll in like, 2 minutes

My nephew? He's 4 so yeah, pretty much. Nothing wrong with that, though, I just loaded him up with some cheap off-brand CVS film. He's remarkably good with cameras, though, I taught him how to use it (not that that's hard, it's a basic p&s) and what not to do (open the back while it's loaded, cover the lens with his finger)

Gee, what gave it away? My deodorant? The perfume bottle below it? The fact that I own a whicker and glass shelf?
