Someone summarize for me where the D60 stands as far as its relationship to the D40x.. Ive been planning on getting D80, but I think I could skate by with a D60, but dpreview doesn't have a good specs sheet up yet to do a side-by-side with the D80 so i can be sure i know what i'll be missing.. And I haven't really seen an article about the D60 yet that says explicitly what the advantages of the D60 are over the other..

Picture is something I took Wednesday night at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.. First time shooting under arena lighting.

The D60 replaces the D40x. As far as actually taking photos go, it is no improvement. So if you wanted a D80 over a D40x, stick to the D80.

D60 = D40x version 2.0.

so, does that mean they'll still release a d80 upgrade, or did the bridge the gap between d40 and d80 with the d60? since the d60's still pretty much on the d40 side.

arguably they did release a D80 upgrade, the D300.

As far as a direct upgrade is concerned, there may be an announcement later this year... when the D80 hits that 2 year old mark.

It's all speculation of course since the D80 is still doing quite well sales wise and is a little less susceptible to the need to refurb every few months like the entry level models which are aimed at consumers and not photographers.
