If only breast enlargements were covered by the ohip, Canada would be the best place for tits.

get it on amazon, I got mine 2 weeks ago for 450ish.

Came with the camera + kit lens + extra battery.

I bought a brand new D80, within a week the lcd had missing pixels, fixed. another week later, missing pixels on the sensor, and dirt in the mirrors.

even though i love the camera, i called up nikon to get it replaced under warranty. they referred me to the seller. the seller referred me back to nikon... Someones gonna GET BROKEN!

d40 is a great camera FOR THE PRICE. i would definetly reccoment for a first dslr, the 18-55 is particularly good for a kit lens and especially compared to its peice of shit canon kit lens counterpart

Good camera for the price.
Bad investment on a camera system.

18-55 kit lens
55-200 shitty secondary combo kit lens
18-70 kit lens

Every other AF-S lens (the only ones that can autofocus on a D40) is fucking expensive, 600 bucks and upwards.

upwards in a very steep curve, hops from 600 to 1500 to 5000, 8000... Kinda defeats the purpose of a cheap body.

No, look at the part he quoted, the guy says he's sticking with the kit lens.

The 55-200 VR (as opposed to the non-VR) is a much better lens than the price suggests, they mostly save on build quality. The only real drawback in performance is the aperture, but I've handheld it at 1/8 sec. or so. Image quality is nice.

Phew..
2 Years ago (or something) my father took me down to the local camerastore to buy a more advanced camera than my P&S. Back then I had the choice between a Panasonic FZ50 and the D40 with 18-55+55-200. I'm so glad I chose the FZ50.
I thought 'well I CAN get an SLR, with every advantage it comes with, but AF-S lenses are about twice my monthly pay. NO.' So i played with the FZ50 for a year or so, then bought a 2nd-hand D50 and man, am I happy with it..

D40: great camera, bad investment.
