black specs everywhere Anonymous
hey /p/, I'm getting these dirty black spots all over my photographs, and I don't know how to go about cleaning the thing since it's a digital camera. You can't really see the dots in this photo since it has a lot of small details that make them indistinguishable, but well... ok,

1. if I decide to open the camera to clean it, I'm assuming I'll have to discharge the internal battery that holds the charge for the flash. How do I do this?
2. for most electronics, if you can pull it apart after the screws and fasteners are all undone and then put it back together. Does this hold the same for digital cameras? As in, are there any sensitive parts in there that I wouldn't be able to put back into how it should be at home?
3. How do I reach the lens? Are there any typical twisting contraptions (like a bottle cap?) or fasteners I should be on the look out for?
4. Once I get in there, what should I do to clean the lens? Can I just use a clean nylon brush, or should I use some sort of chemical solution?

And about the photograph, it's a photograph of my final project for a class I took this year.

it gets worse with zoom, which is why I don't use it anymore.

I wouldn't be so sure that it's on the lens, might be the CCD cell aswell.

5 megapixel, 3x optical zoom?

Buy a new camera. You can get a PowerShot A95 on eBay for less than that...
