point & shoot = pocketable

around the neck = dslr

bridge camera = around the neck & point & shoot(??????)

Am I the only one who thinks that "point & shoot" is a misnomer for most of the things that get called that? I don't think I've ever actually "pointed & shooted" with my compact camera: I always spend time spot-metering and adjusting the exposure.

On the other hand, it seems that most DSLR owners are using them as glorified point & shoots.

I own a D40, as I'm a poorfag student and I always use the lense in manual mode

what you do with your point and shoot doesn't affect the general truth that most compact camera owners simply use them to point and shoot.

and no, MOST dslr owners actually use them as dslrs.

Most DSLR owners own an entry level Canonikon with a kit lens and have never used anything but the program modes.

If you think otherwise, you simply don't understand the scale of things here.

you're right. the opposite is not true with compact owners, however.

You can't fucking spot-meter and adjust the exposure with the vast majority of P&S cameras you fucking idiot.

Almost any point and shoot with manual mode will let you do those two things.

You don't know what spot metering is. Also most compacts don't have manual modes anyways.

You can't spot meter with low-end Canon DSLRs. And there's plenty of p&s cameras with manual mode and spot metering. What's your point?

TL;DR: Bridge cameras are for faggots who want people to think they have a nice camera, when they just have a normal point and shoot.

you are full of shit. bridges can have awesome lenses on smaller sensors and thus get much more effective range without added size, weight or length.

tl;dr shut the fuck up with your arrogance
