Fuck ya /p/
Metallic prints are in, Best printing method I have ever found. And its not that costly either!
(Cameracanada prolab does mine)
Saturation is amazing on this paper, and Black and whites look equally amazing because whites hold up really well!

Why are you so awesome?

And how much exactly did it cost?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL

Pic related, shows the costs per print (in CAD) though prices should be roughly the same (if not cheaper) in the States.

I spent about 240$ on this batch of prints, Everything on this table is sold (Theres some stacked underneath the 8x12's on the die)

So overall I paid about $45 (of my own money) for all my stuff (4 panoramics you see related, those were printed 12x36")

fail.

win.

care to elaborate more on the print process? is it common? do i need to ask for it specifically?
i mostly do b/w and ive been looking for some good quality prints. though ordering from canada will be a last resort...

I think it is pretty common, I'm sure you can find places that print with metallic inks (in the states)
you will have to ask for it though. The stuff CameraCanada does is printed on Kodak Professional Endura Paper (which may or may not matter not sure)

Since you like B+W heres a pic my friend took at Simple X (D50 ISO 1600, Converted to B+W, printed at 12x18)

I tried to match what I see to this pic, but Metallic has a real shine to its highlights that you can't seem to duplicate in pictures.

I love seeing my shit printed.. :]
It feels really satisfying or something

I came when I saw my stuff on A3

But damn Vince, these look awesome

damn it, that is nice.

my current prints certainly lack that "oomph" that i want.
trouble is, im in new zealand and ive never heard of "metallic" printing ever, and i doubt many at a photo/print shop here have lol...

but, i guess part of my problem is that my current A3's are from the campus print shop on 120GSM light card using a high end toner printer :D :P

would love em' on photo paper... but damn its pricey and prob a month later i wouldnt like it/pick it apart/self critique'...

this is one of my favourite shots and at the mo' its on the aforementioned crap print/paper and id LOVE it to be done properly!

i went snowboarding for the first time ever today. i just wanted to know that i was thinking of you, vincent.

also, i totally did that upside-down move in the middle photo. it was an accident.

also, FUCK I AM FUCKING SORE WHAT WAS I THINKING.

That snowboarder in the green has a board that says "anon". Awesome.
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>126420
Haha that pic is wicked, though if you do find a metallics place, make sure you hit the edges of the histogram, you will clip some blacks but the whites will look great all the way up to blown.

>>126431
LOL, That is awesome, How exactly did you manage to land upside down by accident?
>> fence !!POey2hdozCZ
>>126446

i was going down pretty fast (probably pretty slow, but it was terrifying for me) with my back to the bottom of the hill, i thought you could slow down with your heel edge that way, i flipped hard and landed on my head.

but it was fun!

Yes yes it is :)
Expensive board though(~ $800), apparently only the elite can be anonymous (Pic related)

hey, um also while your here.

whats the best way to get decent exposures on the snow?

i.e, your shots.
>> Lynx !!KY+lVSl0s2m
Thanks for posting these vincent, I was wondering when you were gonna. You said "tomorrow" like 2 weeks ago lol. Were these with that sigma 10-20?
>> des
I really like mpix' metallic prints on red or blue-heavy stuff. People look weird on it, to me, though. The difference is a buck or two, I think.
Not sure if it's the same paper, I'd imagine so.

On the D50 Matrix Metering 0.0 exp comp
D200 Matrix Metering +0.7
When I spot meter (just for action shots) I usually go back to my fav -0.3
I like to "JUST" blow some highlights in the snow. Also these are all shot JPG, I'm not a fan of RAW

>>126467
Middle pic, and the top right pic are Sigma 10-20, all the others are with the Sigma 18-200mm (not the OS one the old cheap one) Its my convenience skiing lens, since its soo small and I can use it for pretty much anything I feel like on the mountain.

>>126489
Ya Skin tones get their reds a tad saturated.
Basically any colors show up great on the prints, Watch the Cyans though, Sometimes what you think is blue may turn out turquoise on your print (My middle pic almost did that)
Ahh I thought MPix did metallic too, wasn't positive though
