/p/ nub: forgot to ask for C&C...

I like it Anon. Great colours in it and the silhouetted shapes are interesting.

Samefag. lrn2resize.

It's an alright shot, I guess. Kind of boring and the sky is blown out up top. A little post processing would go a long way with this.

not samefag...... it has been post processed (my first attempt, just simple curves) as the original was a bit washed out but I can see your point!

I don't really like the bokeh. Personally, I wouldn't shoot with an f/1.8 for non-moving subjects, even at sunrise/sunset.
And imo, I think it would've been better if you placed the horizon slightly lower or higher - not a big fan of the mid-level horizon.
BUT, I like your idea. With a little more work, it could be a great shot.

I just did a little bit of adjustments and cropped out the sky.

Next I would remove those birds and try to sharpen the image a bit.

Like this guy said, 1.8 is not a good aperture for a landscape shot like this. I probably would have started around f/8. You could go a lot smaller and use a long exposure to smooth out the water. Also, for these shots you really want everything to be in focus and the smaller aperture gives you a much larger focal range.

Im bearing it all in mind - have only just started out and all!
I would have loved to do a long exposure but it was a hand held shot as I had just left the house to play around with and explore the camera.

Is this the real version? Holy shit, I love these colors! Great contrast.

I like the original version a lot more than the processed OP version. You killed too much detail in forcing it into a silhouette, and turned the nice subtle colors into "YEAH YOU WANT SOME FUCKING PURPLE, WE GOT PURPLE ALL UP IN THIS BITCH. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON RED, 'CAUSE WE GOT RED LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER."

Other than that, the shot's a little blurry. You were at 1/1000th. You didn't need to go all the way down to f/1.8. Looks like you focused on the buildings in the distance, which means the boat is a little out of focus and the ground at the bottom is way out of focus.
