HDR First Try Anonymous
So I discovered HDR photos last night and went out to learn to do them... I think ive got a rough idea of how to do it now.

I couldnt get 3 photos to stay exactly the same so I used one and edited the curve to a high then low setting merged them then played with the contrast.

I'll post the original after this post.

Is this good or bad for a first go?
Picture related - its my first try.

the scene you shot does not need hdr processing. you've captured the entire dynamic range in that exposure already - your on-camera flash has taken care of killing any contrast in the room. :)

99 % of hdr shots look simply ugly and unnatural. it's very hard to do the trick in a way that actually adds something to the pic instead of being a distracting gimmick. don't waste your time, go ahead & learn some basic post processing first. :) shooting raw helps a bit in those difficult wide dynamic range situations as you can recover some detail when importing the file. you can also use some basic off-camera lighting to control the lighting conditions yourself (pushing dark areas to match with daylight for example): strobist, google it motherfucker.

tl;dr: HDR FUCKING SUCKS. 2/10.

(sorry for my weird english, it's not my mother tongue)

It was taken on a fairly shitty point and shoot with auto.

Nothing special im sure it wouldve been better with my DSLR but sadly I didnt have it back then.

i'm pretty sure most of us are better with your rangefinder on full auto than you with the most expensive camera + lens + whatever equipment you can find.

having an expensive/xbox hueg camera doesn't make you a good photographer, neither does having a degree in photography

also, l2hdr or don't do it at all. i'd prefer the latter.

>your rangefinder on full auto
You should go read up on what "rangefinder" means. It does not mean "point & shoot camera"
