It's in North Korea.

It's purpose? It was never built, what you see is the skeletal structure. It was meant to be a hotel... but all it ended up was another source of resource drain... the amount of people the money from that building could have fed... *sigh*

All lies spread by the evil capitalist pig dogs of the west!

This glorious building houses the nuclear weapons of our Dear Leader, Kim Jong Il! He will protect the Korean people and triumph over our evil oppressors nida!

Also known as The Commietron. One day it will awake, and devour all the rotten western civilization.

But other than that, it's never going to be finished, due to a fatal construction error.

Am I the only one who would kill for an opportunity to mess around and shot some pictures in it (disregard the fact that this scenario doesn't sound completely unreal, considering it's N. Korea)?

I like his explanation the best.

What construction error is this that you speak of?

Due to the poor quality of concrete used in its construction.

The funniest thing is it dominates the skyline, but aparently if you ask any of the North Koreans about it they are like "What hotel? ... I dont see anything".

That is so untrue. What they say is that it ain't finished and that they will continue on it as soon they have solved their electrical/other problems.

Have you traveled to North Korea? If so share your experience (not on /p/, but somewhere)
