Yeah, but I'd get a faster and better lens than the kit.

Let's put it into a C++ programming perspective:

idk what you mean by "faster" (im 99% unaware of related technical terms)

also pic is an example of a photo i took on a K100D, i thought it was good so by my logic the super (one model up) would be adequate

my problem is my lack of $

By "faster", they mean a lens which opens to a bigger aperture number (remember, smaller number=bigger aperture).

For instance, an F4.5 lens is "slower" than an F1.8 because the shutter must be open longer to take the same pic, given a set amount of light.

There's a bug in your code there. It advocates recommending Four Thirds.

I think case-switch is your friend here, Sony may not be great, but there are plenty of brands out there inferior even to them.

You need to try harder than that.

would my money be better spent on a nikon D40?

hahahaha really? I just got a f1.8 50mm prime off of ebay for my k100d for 30 dollars. pic very related. plenty of other ones still on ebay also.

don't listen to these idiots who obviously don't now what they're talking about. Ive used both a k100d and a d40 and the nikon is just cheap in comparison.

you've obviously never tried to manually focus a sub $1000 slr with their pretty shitty focusing screens.

ps: hes shopping for cameras, not my picture you dumbfuck. stay on topic.

rofl, if anything, Pentax has better VF than comparable Canon and Nikon cameras.

I was countering the dumbfuck who said there are no lenses for pentax. it was very much on topic. I actually went to look for a picture Ive taken myself with the lens, but then realized why the fuck would I give you the time. OP, try the cameras out for yourself.

op here

since when did /p/ stand for panties(knotted variety)

the reason i would consider a d40 is that my father has an old nikon telephoto lens as well as a wide angle (unaware of specifications)

pic is also moar photos from a pentax i have used

Old lenses almost certianly wont auto focus on the D40 and if they are _very_ old will work better on the pentax than the nikon ohlol.

I run a studio, and have tried Pentax, Sony(for about 20 shots B4 it hit the trash), Nikon, and Canon, and will always recomend the Canon. wait till mid april when they release the XSi, my buddy at Canon says it's awesome.

I don't run a studio and only look at what the best system is and will aways say Canon.

I'm an asshole on the interbutt and would whole-heartedly recommend the pentax.
It's the best body in its price range.

no lenses? theres bajillions and even better the fitting hasn't changed since 1970 something so you can pick up dozens of cheap old lenses.
my best buy was a 205mm macro that cost me £1 and a couple of 50mm primes that came with a free K1000 attached for £20
The k100d supper also has built in image stabilisation which is even better

no, pentax has ZERO LENSES. ZERO.
>> Anonymous
so, pentax make no lenses eh.....damm
im pretty happy with my collection.
it coveres everything i need

theres the 12-24 that i use for landscapes
theres the da 14mm - i dont own it, but still )

my 16-50 f2.8 thats weather sealed
my 50-125 2.8 - also sealed.

the 31 1.8 and 77 1.8 are very nice optics too.

I also use an old 300 f4.5 - ( to be replaced by the 300 f4 soming soon.

so yeah..that has be fairly well covered.
that does not include the tonne of old Manual focus and manual exposure glass i have from way back in the film days that i can still use.

heh, how many other systems do you know of where you can get a 135mm f2.8 for under a hundred bucks?
>> Anonymous
re: above poster
I think you mean 50-135 f2.8

i also own one. Very nice piece of equipment.

Most systems?
Tamron Adaptall BBAR MC 135mm f/2.8 - $12, boxed with papers. I prefer it over the nikkor AI samples I've tried but not the super tak f/3.5. They're all sharp but the pentax has just crazy awesome defocus and looks "better" on slide film for some reason. I'm not an optical engineer, so I've nfc what it is about it that's different.
The tamron or super tak would work great on a K100D! Both are cheap! Get the pentax branded M42 adaptor, don't jew out and get an HK one!
