Does anyone know if the Olypmus DSLRs are any good?

pic related not specific camera wanted

They're pretty nice and they come with some nice kit glass.

Useless thread coming. Will be bumped enough to push all the photo threads to page 10. Will spawn more brand faggotry until Sunday night. Rinse, repeat weekly.

This is /p/.

True story.

Yes. Their only real con is that their small viewfinders are more difficult to manually focus with, but if you're 90% of people that doesn't matter to you.

Anyone who says otherwise is a troll or a sensor size snob or a brandwhore.

cool thanks

If you aren't too picky, get it. You won't be disappointed. But do some more research on camera sites and read some reviews before you buy the camera.

No one sensible gives a damn. It's just noise. Go load some Delta 3200 and then come back and smile at the Olympus.

Smaller sensors also have an inherent advantage at the edge of the sensor. The light hits at a more direct angle giving you better performance. Is it a huge difference? Not really, probably about as noticeable as the noise differences in that pic above.

Also, I agree with the other poster above...Zuiko glass is baller.

Wouldn't Four-Thirds negate that, though? They moved the mount closer at the same time they shrunk the sensor.

Maybe...

From the wiki article under 'advantages of four thirds'

"Telecentric optical path means that light hitting the sensor is traveling perpendicular to the sensor, resulting in brighter corners, and most importantly improved off center resolution, particularly on wide angle lenses."

they're cheap but there's not as much (cheap/good) glass around as for canikon

I have an E-410 and if you want a cheap DSRL for learning, it's just fine. Be careful if you have sight problems, though, the viewfinder is fucking small.
