My sister (13) wants to get a new camera that has lots of different functions and has a great zoom, with out going for a DSLR, is this a good camera for $200(which is her limit)
Please /p/ I am asking for your advice

Value for price. They're only like $150, they have decent image quality, better controls than any other cameras in the price range, less shitty lenses than other cameras in the price range, and optical viewfinders in addition to the LCD, which is rare for the price range.

They're not great or even good per se, they're just a great value, and the best you can get in that price range.

A650 IS is f/4.8 at the long end. That's not fast, but A650 still beats most superzooms if you consider that its sensor is almost twice as big.

Almost twice as big?

The diagonal of the 1/2.5" format used in most superzooms and a good chunk of compacts is 7.182. The diagonal of the 1/1.8" format used in the camera in question and other compacts is 8.933. 8.933 is nowhere near twice 7.182.

The "crop factor" between the two formats, if such thing applied, would be 1.2438.

Besides, we're dealing with dinky sensors here anyway. If you're anal about noise you shouldn't be touching either of them. If you're sensible, they'll both be fine at moderate ISOs, regardless of the difference in lens aperture.
