The idea in the first photograph is mainly reflection, and how it appeared in this case. The other photograph has a kind of inverted colors element, where a burned tree bottom appears in the white half and the darker half has a white tree in it. Not only that but the image is cut in half.

They're not bad per se, but there's not really much going on. There's no real subject, and the way you've done the desaturation looks like you've just gone into Lightroom and hit the "antique grayscale" button. Not all that special, but at the very least it shows some potential.
