alright, /p/ussies.

i posted a comment in the dreads and graves photo thread.
i told the op to center his subject next time which lead to a huge war about the rule of thirds.

well, ever since then i have just kinda been keeping my eye open for a phot that shows that i meant, and someone on /b/ posted this.

with a portrait, centering the subject with the subject looking straight into the lens creates a very dramatic effect. it sucks the viewer straight in.

so yeah, dont be governed by some shitty rule. it has its applications and is based off of fact, but each photo should really govern itself, the rule of thirds should kinda be a starting point.

i think you failed to read most of the posts. for the most part they said the rule of thirds isnt a rule, but more of a guideline. but it seems people read what they want to and took it as the rule of thirds is a rule.

no i totally remember the people who were against the 3rds being set in stone, but there were a few people who didnt get that the rule of 3rds doesnt necessarily apply to every single photograph. thats who this post was aimed at.
