2nded, because it's an awesome story; try to get your photo to tell it. I like the one you took though too.

As a fan of cycling and vintage bikes I second that.

1. find old photo of him as Bicycle Champion of Germany.

2. take photo of grandfather in the same pose with the same / similar bike

ahh man mucho respect for wanting to capture your grandfather.

I say keep shooting and shooting and shooting.

The bike thing may be too much, but if you can find a photo with him wearing a medal or anything like that and if he still has it, have him stand in a similar pose... etc.

Grandparents are awesome.

Every Morning he puts on his Suit and visits my grandmothers grave. I wonder if I should take a photo of this or if it would be tasteless.

Also, I'm not sure about the bike thing, he's pretty down in spirits because of the loss of his woman and his ability.

Maybe I'll do a photo of him standing next to all his cups and medals.

If taken properly, it could convey an extremely powerful message, just ask for his permission.

Your grandfather sounds like a wonderful human being.

What's his name, so we can see some shots of him back in the day? Or if you could just post some, if you don't want to give his name out?

I googled on his name for ages, no photographs on the web. A few mentionings on german and french websites, but no photographs.

I'll ask him for a few photos of the older days when I visit him next week, I think I'll scan them.

Take of photo of him sitting back in a rocker in the bright sunlight. He sounds like an amazing person so make him look like the dignified and amazing person he is; not hunched over, off center, looking like he's about to keel over.

Take a picture of him outside, in a wooden chair (no plastic stuff), if he must be in a wheel chair that's fine too. Make sure his hands are on the armrests so that it gives the impression that *even though he must be in a wheel chair, he still has a sense of command.* If he can't go outside have him in front of a window with the sun pouring in behind him. If you take the photo at the right time it'll give an amazing halo effect.

But please, this photo may be artistic, but it hardly does justice to the man you describe.
