File :-(, x, )
Hi Anonymous
Hey /p/ when i'm doing a photoshoot, how should I save the files?

I did my first one two weeks ago, and I saved two versions a .pspimage and a .jpeg for online use. Would the pspimage be good for printing?

Also what do you think of the photo?

I used a couple candles for it.

I don't know what the shit pspimage is, so no it's not good for printing. Most places that are targeted at amateurs will want your photos in JPEG format. Most pro-targeted print houses will want TIFF files.

You should archive your photos in a lossless format, which means that the image quality doesn't degrade every time the image is saved. TIFF is a good universal lossless format and is the industry standard. Other lossless formats that are commonly used are camera raw files. JPEG is a lossy format, so it's best not to use it for master archives.

The photo is too big so I didn't look at it.

I use my camera's raw, which is actually a NEF file. So if from here, I made any adjustments and then saved it to TIFF, would that be the type of file I would want to give my customer?

I say customer, but it was a friend's band, and they payed me with dinner.

PSPImage is the main version of of the Paint Shop Pro series, which is the only easily pirated program equipped to handle NEF's.

A TIFF is good.

Seconded, TIFF is good. It's the industry standard exchange format for master copies.

Any bittorrent search engine should be able to yield just about any major photo editing software out there, and you can do a lot better than paint shop pro if you're going to be pirating.

JPG's quality degrades only everytime it is resaved, not everytime it is saved.
