Sup /p/. I guess this is another 'which camera thread'. Help me choose a nice pocket point&shoot camera? Money is not an issue.

What are the differences between these series? Are G Series pocketable?

The G-series are overpriced pieces of shit. Get the A-series.

Seconded.
Besides, the A series alows for custom firmware:
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
Free motion detection, RAW, shutter speeds up to 1/65000, better video quality, shutter times up to 65s (Almost noiseless), scripting, bracketing, etcetera.
No other camera can beat that.

Eeps, I mean shutter speeds can vary from 1/65000 to 65 seconds. Also, the 1/65000 can actually correctly sync to the flash.

If you're gonna buy a G series canon, you might as well just buy an entry-level dslr. So, get an A-series.

SD: Low end cameras, no manual controls, but very small (so good pocket cameras for that reason)
A: Middle of the line. Usually (possibly always nowadays, but this hasn't always been the case) have full manual controls available. Bulkier, but still pocketable. Cool features like an articulated LCD available on the A6x0 line, which is my personal favorite. Current top-of-that-line is the A650IS, which is *win*.
G: Top of the line. Full manual controls, hot shoe, and built-in RAW support (although you can get RAW on a lot of the models in the A series with a firmware hack). Only buy this if you really need something that'll fit in a (large) pocket that has a hot shoe. I.e., if you plan to bring a shit-ton of lights with you everywhere. Image quality is no better than the A series and, other than the hot shoe and RAW support, features are about the same.
