First time using a real studio of any sort. I just happened to be in the studio for something completely unrelated, but since I was there anyway I did some self-portraits. Inb4harpoonsetc.
If I knew I was going to be there I would have worn something different and probably do something fancier, but otherwise I did my best.
I only regret that the ISO is too high in this pic, something I'm still trying hard to get down. It's hard to tell when there's too much noise until I see it on a full screen! I have one more pic, less noisy but also less flattering.

The boobies are too distracting.

And I mean that!

needs more noise reduction

ya raw modes a real pain with this thing, nothing a lower iso wouldn't have helped

im sure it wouldve been better to get a noisy raw and do it yourself than let the camera smear everything everywhere with its built in NR. or lower iso. or both.

Noisy as a Dethklok concert, but you know that. As a rule of thumb, when you're shooting with a non-SLR, anything above the minimum ISO of your camera is going to look crappy (although that being said, I got a pretty nice ISO400 shot out of my PowerShot A95 today, especially once decomposed and pulled out just the green channel. Red and Blue were way noisier. Black and white's a lot more forgiving to noise, possibly just because we're culturally conditioned to be okay with grainy black and white film pictures)

Needs more lighting. Were you using strobes or hot lights? What were you in the studio for?

Also: You're quite attractive.

I needed to use a copystand thing so I could shoot a picture of something that I will make smaller.
I don't know the official terms, but I used one indirect light on the left and one with those blinder things in front of it.
And thank you :)
Some reason I keep forgetting to adjust the ISO. I'm too used to it being automatic.

Strobes: Fancy, pretentious word for flashes.

Hot lights: Lights that you turn on and stay on instead of just flashing at you.

I'm always forgetting to set the ISO on my little P&S camera because it doesn't display it on the LCD by default and because it's trickier to set than on my SLR. Which is especially annoying, because the main thing I use my P&S camera for nowadays is as a light meter for my old-ass manual meterless cameras, and I generally keep them filled with ISO400 film. ISO400 looks ass-ugly on a point & shoot.

Ah, I wouldn't know how to use em if I had em. Actually, by studio I mean the thing my college had set up with a whole lot of equipment I couldn't identify so I just picked a few lights and went for it.
