Noted.

Crop the second one and convert it to duotone. That's to only shot you've posted that's remotely street.
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM
reminds me alot of Satorialist stuff. Even slightly similar fashion too :D
>> Anonymous
Why do you take bullshit pics? You've got a $1000 in photographic equipment.

Maybe you need a better lens.
>> Warren !WSxruxpIJs
>>106617
Or maybe the equipment hasn't got fuck-all to do with it.

I'm not here to impress you. I'm here to contribute my own photography to the collection.

You bring shame to Nikon D70 users everywhere.

Perhaps you can learn to take in focus and properly exposed pictures that are remotely interesting before posting.

And perhaps you can take a look at some good street photography before you try to produce some.

>>106671
Do you have a specific photo in mind when you say this?
Do you have examples of street photographers that you enjoy?
Do you own a D70 and can you show the rest of us examples of your work... so that we may see what we're doing wrong?
>> Anonymous
>>106676

I have in mind your photos with the blown highlights, lens flare, and blurry subjects.

You might take a look at http://www.magnumphotos.com/ for inspiration

Nope don't own a d70

real photos that havent been butchered to shit by photoshop look that way
i like these pictures because they look like they DO look shot on the street with little preparation
they arent supposed to look glamorous.
>> Anonymous
>>106688
Part of the fun of street photography is that you have to make do with what you have - which means you have to get in uncomfortable places to find good shooting angles (and shoot into the sun if you have to). You also have to work quickly and can't waste precious seconds or you'll miss the shot.
>> Anonymous
>>106688

You mean to imply that some bullshit JPEG engine and auto white balance has some authenticity over actually trying to creatively capture an image, and post processing it to look good?

Yeah they do look like they were just snaps off the street. Not cropped, not well composed, not in focus or properly exposed...

Its the quality I expect from a pocket digicam in the hands of an uninterested novice, rather than $1000 of photography gear's output posted on a photography board.
>> Anonymous
>>106696
Only the fourth picture was shopped to remove a dust scratch (near the pavement). No other post processing was used.
That was kinda the point of these photos.

he looks sad to me
>> angrylittleboy !wrJcGUHncE
-Too telephoto, flat and dull. Use a shorter focal range (28mm - 50mm film equiv)

- Light is too flat. Street photographers like Italy for its light, so I'd suggest looking for spots with that in mind

- These are just dudes standing and walking doing nothing. They are not interesting at all. They are flat.

One word to describe your photos: "Flat".

Try looking through these guy's photos in Italy: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=italy&w=27413349%40N00

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but I think these are a little flat.

this is the closest to street of what you've got.
now.. d70 is not the best cam for street. you'd ultimately want an old rangefinder cos it's very anonymous. small and people don't seem to care as much when you bring a camera like that.
chances are they'll want to talk to you about it, since it's old.
with a modern dslr people are more reserved, and thats not good when you're shooting street. cos street is all about emotions. people with a 300mm zoom is not doing street. they're perving.

oh.. and forgot to add.. street is better in bw.

It's not impossible to do street photography in color, just harder to do. Joel Meyerowitz was able to become successful in this.

If you're going to do street in color, there has to be a reason why those colors are there.

- It seems to me like you guys missed the point of OP's pictures. I like them for their simplicity.
- Shut the fuck up about photoshopping and "fixing" pictures that are just fine.
- Not a goddamn one of you posted any pictures of your own. For shame, you /p/ussies.

- They're too simple to the point of being dull. But if you like them, then that's good.

- A simple boost in contrast wouldn't hurt and would make up for the lack of content

- I don't see you posting yours.

there are one two three four 5 people looking at you in this photo... the presence of the camera is too strong...

street photography is supposed to be like documenting the local area of historical reasons..

>street photography is supposed to be like documenting the local area of historical reasons

This statement is really poor. It's not even good enough to be considered simplistic.
>> Anonymous
>>107476
Also, it appears as though the people are looking either at the one-man-band or off into the distance. The only person actually making eye contact is the one-man-band. If you opened the picture up and didn't just look at the thumbnail, this would be obvious.
I think that picture is badass.

There's not much of a problem with being a "visible" street photographer. Sometimes, it does help when there's some sort of interaction between the subject and the photographer.
>> Anonymous
>>107483
for* not "of"
the interpretation would be to document culture and people's ways of life...
