ok /p/. im semi-new to the whole hdr scene. and im just wondering how this guy gets some of his shots. i was told that he uses a combo of hdr + a lot of digital editing. but looking through his shots, there is a LOT of movement. so im just wondering how the HECK he pulls some of it off. any answers?

here's the link to his portfolio:

It's not TRUE HDR.

Some of those pictures are fucking disgusting.

So how do I setup my flashes to get something like this?

I have never licked the ass of anyone doing HDR like this or not. failanon

Ever since that deviantart fag came here. That beethy guy does NOTHING but HDR and processed to the max shit. Everytime he does, ac says how he's in love with it and every other anon follows.

HDR fucking failure is what he is.

errr... i'm pretty certain that David Hill's signature look is NOT HDR.

Notice the similarities between his work and Jill Greenberg and our own resident Kaught.

It's great lighting + good post processing.

You really have to get it right in camera first then you can increase that shit in CS.

I don't understand the fascination with HDR anyway.

But then again, i don't know much about his work aside from that i have NOT read that his work involved HDR.

In my defense, his ass is delicious.

Emulating Dave Hill is what made pskaught the one-trick-pony he is today.

Pskaught said he learned the lighting techniques he uses from watching lighting techs setting up while working as a 1st AC on music videos.

On, and more to the point: pskaught's work actually has something to it; Hill's is just shitty commerical work. For instance, his portrait of Soulja Boy has about as little going on with it as the man (boy?) bragging about "supermanning hos." It's like, "WATCH ME FOCUS, WATCH ME STROBE," and nothing else.

11 HDR shots out of 442

about OP, yea... strobes :]
I'd like to purchase some myself too, photography's an expensive hobby
I don't think any of his stuff is HDR though, just a different way of editing. A lot of selecting areas and playing around with the tones and contrast.
I don't really like his work but it's commercial enough

Nothing wrong with photoshop if the end result is a good picture.

David Hill is commercial. So what?

Like PsKaught is suddenly all fine art? Prejudice aside, it's all a stylistic choice.

It's not that he is commercial per se, that he gets paid for it, but that's *all* he is. Most artists get money from their work, and there's nothing wrong with that, with few provisos. The problem with Hill's work is that its commercial function is all it has; there's no substance to his work.

And yes, I would consider pskaught's work art.
