Hey /p/

I am going to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Taiwan in a few weeks. I am going to take pictures.

I have a Canon 300D (6.3MP) and am going to be enlarging the digital images in order to have them printed and framed. The original digital images will be 2048x3072 px (11x17 in).

A few questions:

1) What would be the maximum enlargement size I could have printed without noticeable (or significantly noticeable) distortion?

2) What do you think is a good size to enlarge to and print at?

3) If I am going to get them professionally printed, should I just shoot in RAW?

4) If I shoot in RAW, I'll need more CF cards. Where's a good place to buy them? Newegg.com? Does anyone know if there is a capacity ceiling on the 300D's soft/hardware? i.e. is there a certain point where it no longer recognizes a valid card?

i'd say 11x17 would be your max... sometimes, it just depends on what the picture is of.

So absolutely no enlarging whatsoever? Have you tried this before, or is this just an assumption?

Meet me in Bangkok so I can shoot you and take your Canon to escape from my D40 faggotry.

That's where I'm flying into, actually...

And wasn't the D40 a direct competitor to the 300D? They aren't THAT much different, just that mine is a Canon, and therefore better.

Flying into Bangkok.
Enjoy being raped by customs, the taxi into town, and the ladyboy who shows you to your hotel room.

Customs shouldn't be much of an issue, as I am packing light (3 week vacation, 1 small duffel of clothes).

Taxi into town shouldn't be an issue, I'm going to take the motorcycle cabs.

And ladyboy? Nah, I have an apartment I'm staying at. Ex-pats are pretty cool, especially when they are family.

i wont be much help on the other stuff, but ive always had really good luck with stuff from newegg.

also, if you are getting them professionally printed, shoot raw. it is always best to have the original camera data when getting them printed that way.

>If you have any creative intentions whatsoever, shoot raw

Fixed. Processing flexibility FTW.

No, it is a photo I took at a motocross park in Floresville, TX.

Hahaaa

Canon answered one of my questions. The maximum recommended size for CF cards in the 300D is 4GB. Now I just need to decide if I am going to get one or two 4GB CF cards.

Seriously. No information on maximum size of picture enlargement? Or recommended sizes?

Processing != creativity.
Any loser can add weird colors or selective desat.

Okay, fine, since no one has answered my question about enlargement, let's talk about printing.

For those of you that print, what sort of paper do you print on? What sort of stuff do I need to know about getting shit printed?
