Hey /p/, I was wondering about doing some really basic photography, mostly point-and-shoot, but also some REALLY simple stuff like messing around with Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO sometimes. Considering that, and that I can't and won't buy a DSLR( not enough money), would you guys suggest the Sony Cybershot, or is the Canon good enough that it merits the higher price?

Pic related, as it is essentially what I'll be able to TRY to get at Black Friday at Fry's Electronics.

I don't even know if the Sony will let you do that.

Yes, get the Canon. Before the very top tier of point-and-shoots, Canons are the indisputable winners.

Canon's generally regarded as the quality leader in P&S digitals. I'm extremely fond of my PowerShot and still use when I'm in situations where my SLR is too bulky.

I thought the same thing when I saw it in the ad, but then it threw me off. I thought something had changed that made them justified in charging more for a camera than Sony.

I guess it's just good old fashion bull shitting, then.

Thanks for the advice
