How does one compensate for glare in poor lighting? Pic to the left is the most obvious example I can think of right now. This is assuming that you get it even without using a flash.

Diffused light, Aka difuse the flash, use an external flash that you bounce off of something, Difuser domes outside don't do much, so sometimes a reflex card is all you have.

well, if its off a metallic surface, theres nothing you can do really other than move around to get a different angle. if its off of glass or the like, you can use a polarizer to get rid of most of the glare.

Anonymous has another stupid question regarding his new D80 - how do I set bulb mode? I'm on full manual on the button dial, but I still can't set super long shutter releases.

polarized sheet filter over the flash and lens go. iirc, you'll have a hard time getting it done right if the flash is in-line with the film plane. The few times I've played with it, they've been off-camera, so dunno.

on the d70 you've got to spinspinspin all the way past 30seconds.

Um, you bounce the flash so that lighting is diffuse. Ie, aim the flash head backwards. You won't get much, but you'll get something better than no flash at all.

On ANY SLR camera, it's the slowest shutter time available. Christ, learn to read your damn manual.
