Finally got around to that widow. Fed her a grub.

In other news someone knocked my 10-22 off of my desk while I was cleaning it, shattering it's UV and locking its gears. Bad times in natureguy town.

:(

will not view large oiasd
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
the background is too bright IMO,
its kind of problematic because the spider is soo much smaller than the grub.

Maybe more magnification so the grub is only in part of the frame..

Maybe, the guy is keeping her as a pet so I have all year to play with her. To get more magnification I have put my lens at around 3 inches so, and that kind of makes me nervous.

See I'm from ND and NE. We only get rattle snakes and brown recluses. This whole black widow thing is new to me.

Speaking of which, my cousins used have to have jar full of recluses they caught, I wonder what happened to it...

and a photo of the guys snake neck turtle that came out weird as hell.

Hopefully next time I can manage to catch him in the act of eating the fish properly. This round the guys tank was was rather too soiled to get what I needed. Needed better light too.

NatureGuy, you are fucking mental to be going anywhere near one of them bastard spiders!

Very nice shots, really evokes the whole predator/killer thing.

Any chance you might do caterpillars, large beetles or something nocturnal in the future?

Also, thanks again for posting, I can't be alone in eagerly awaiting your next shoot!
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
>Any chance you might do caterpillars, large beetles or something nocturnal in the future?

I shoot anything that's available really. So if I get the chance to, yes I will. I am, however, limited by my equipment. I really do need to ditch the bellows and purchase a proper macro lens. Working with the bellows is fine for stuff that doesn't move, but for insects it is anything but optimal.

I've got some other insect shots over at: http://www.rdpufallphotography.com/Macro.html

This ones the best IMO.
Nice that the web structure is visible aswell!
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY

As a documentation yes.

>>270375
I consider this to be the strongest, because it is the most about how we perceive spiders.

I think you definitely need that iconic hourglass to be visible to give it more impact, which is why I prefer these two shots to the grub ones.

And the bright background as Vincent said, isn't too good.

I really do like those two shots though.

this one would be my favourite if it wasn't for the slightly busy background. the framing is almost perfect.
All need a slightly increased dof though.

Agreed,>>270375is definately effective, although not the best shot. I like the constrast of it to the grub and background. The detail on the legs is appealing also.
