anyone have the source for this image? I know it's hurricane Katrina but aside from it being just about everywhere on the interwebs I can never find the original photographer.

I also doubt the OP took this.
>> ac
That's not Katrina. I can't do your research for you'cause I'm on my cell, but a quick google should show you that the email claiming this is Katrina is a hoax.

i doubt its katrina. it just looks liek your average super cell.
there are thousands of pics like this online.
seriously.

i believe that an anon could have taken this, i mean its pretty damn good, but not that unlikely.

Mike Hollingshead's photo, he's a stormchaser out in the midwest. His pictures have been stolen and mislabeled so much it's fucking ridiculous.

And it's NOT from Katrina, it's from Nebraska taken on May 28, 2004.

Wow nice :) I wish it would snow here!

no you do not. i don't know where you are from, but i bet i can stereotype you as the kind of folk who lives in a warm area and thinks that snow is just so pretty and romantic and that it would be so magical to live in a place where it snows.

try shoveling it and walking through a foot of it and driving 20MPH on the highway because there's too much of it. snow stops looking pretty after that.

but...but.. it IS romantic. i wanna move back east. Snow is GOOD

I live in Chicago, and I've always liked snow, despite its downsides. It's like a blanket of white that covers up the ugly of winter. It is a bitch to deal with and travel in, but from indoors snow always been enjoyable. Besides, I've always figured that it's the harsh winds that are a pain, I'm comfortable with walking around during snowfall as long as the winds are calm. And snow is romantic, one of my friends lives in a tropical climate, when I took her to a ski resort in Colorado she hated the snow, but she really appreciated how cozy it made the suite. And staying warm under the covers? That goes without saying insta-win.

In before shitstorm, Anon knows no girls, et cetera.

we're not on /b/. photographers can know girls.

anyway i guess i'm just in a sour mood. in case anyone's paying attention, i just belted out that 3 mile wall of text about the dreadlocked chick in the graveyard that i got warned might get removed by the mods. whatever.

maybe i'm the odd one out, but i've never been keen on snow. it's only peaceful and cozy for a few minutes. then the loud, ugly plow truck with its nasty yellow lights shows up and you can't whisper under the covers to the one you love anymore over the unearthly shrieking of the beep-beep-beep it vomits out while pushing a 4-foot mound of brown, cruddy, hard-packed ice and dirt right into your goddamned driveway when you've got to go to work...

maybe i should just go to bed, hmm?

lol, bedtime for you dearie. Hey look, shit happens. if it gets deleted, it does. if it stays, it stays. You posted your opinion and that's it.

And, yeah, i know snowplows and the scraping and such is a PITA, but for me it's worth it to have those peaceful times (i like to live in the country) where everything still looks tranquil, peaceful and beautiful. :)

As a Buffalo resident, I agree with you, re: snow. Shit sucks. Pic--taken in FUCKING OCTOBER--related. All the trees still had leaves on them when this storm hit us, which meant the leaves pulled down branches, pulled down power lines, pulled down the City of Buffalo for several days.

(The picture is intended as illustrative, not particularly artistic. By which I mean, it sucks 'cause I took it from my car while hoping nobody slid into the back of me at the stop light)

I definatly know its worse in chicago, but I did live in the north east. Way out in the country where ice storms made huge trees fall on houses and the electricity would be out for weeks at a time. I still prefer the silence it brought though. :)
>> Prottain !!KzpJaC7xtYC
Snow is only nice when it first falls. After that its annoying as hell because like you said, you have to shovel, drive through it, walk through it when its all slushy and dirty (Completely devestates my sneakers, I hate wearing boots) But still, despite all that crap I enjoy snow (I built an igloo cause of all the snowfall in '06.)

snow is nice because it covers the icy asphalt while trying to walk to the nearest bus-station in -40C

its bad when it reaches over 2,5M in hight and you have to shovel it off your driveway.

Fuck northern Sweden.

Funny, I've only seen snow 3 times in my entire life.

I personally find Snow to be greatly preferable to stifling heat and humidity.
Then again, I'm from Russia, so I might be a wee bit biased.
