I took this pic of some sort of factory (The lights were the focal point). Unfortunately, I must have slightly moved the camera as I pressed the shutter, which gives it a slightly blurred look.

Checking the EXIF data, do these settings seem appropriate? I like the "star" effect around the lights, but the steam seems blurred as well. I can avoid the shaking now as this camera has a self-timer. So I set and forget.

Should I set the shutter to a faster speed and go up a couple of stops? Just been experimenting with night photography, as the general area I took this is a light extravaganza (Kwinana Industrial Area).

Just this particular factory gives off an alien appearance and I'd like to capture it properly.

I'd go for the longest exposure available (in the case of the fuji s5000 2 seconds). This will also mean a small aperture, which will make for better star effects around the lights.

So, an f-stop of 2.5 and a 2 sec exposure will render a brighter cleaner image? Hmm leave the ISO at 200, to keep noise at a minimum.

Okay, I will experiment with different settings. The good thing is it is a static object.

I love industrial photography, although with my point and shoot and lack of tripod, I cant ever get a decent shot, I look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

I'll be heading down to Kwinana again on the weekend. I'm going to try multiple settings and see what happens.

This factory is just one of dozens that light up. The other's are just a bit hard to get to so it's a case of finding the right spot.

Should have some up by Sunday Night (Western Australia Time - Saturday Morning East Coast USA)

Anonymous meant an aperture of f/8 or so with a 2 second exposure, not f/2.5. A larger aperture (smaller number) won't make for good star effects.

Pyramidal compositions are almost always a bad way to go; keep it within the rule of thirds unless you have a good reason.
