Picture irrelevant.
So /p/ my girlfriend has recently decided to get into photography, whats the best camera/dollar type setup for under 1500$

I have no idea on any of the stuff she will need.

She wants to shoot a variety of things, b/w people nudes / landscapes / flora/fauna etc.

If someone could steer me to a good guide / webpages or just throw some suggestions, I would be most grateful as I want to attempt to support her on this venture!

Google, it works! http://www.dpreview.com/
good for comparing features exactly.

If you are looking at 1500 for just a camera, make sure you set aside enough for a good lens. Also have

-GOOD tripod
-bag
-proper flash

1) camera (nikon d70s/d80 or canon 20D/30D or pentax k10d or ... nah. can't recommend olympus or sony.) 600-900
2) 50mm 1.8 normal lens or manufacturer brand 18-55 (make sure the zoom has image stabilization marked by IS or VR) 100-300 bucks.
3) flash. 100-400 bucks.

Nikon D40, the VR version of the kit lens and an SB400. So says Ken Rockwell.

35 mm is fuckin' dead! i love digital! but not as much as i love my 4x5! but i love my d200 more than i love my 4x5! but oh shit, my d40 is so light and has fewer features than my d200, which is why i hate my d80 and d50! i love my d40 more than i love my apple computer, which is what pros use because they don't have time to ! oh shit i didn't even have time to finish that last sentence because i just got my d3, but digital full frame is dead! i fucking love my olympus trip 35! Long live 35mm!

oh shit, i'm ken fucking rockwell!
