Hey /p/!

I wonder if someone here is into IR-Photography.
If yes, show some of yours!

PROTIP: most lenses have a little red dot or red line on the focus gauge. This is the "IR" line, and is the equivalent to how IR rays focus to the film plane (sensor or film). If you're taking landscape pictures, set the infinite sign marking to this line. It also changes by focal length (zoom) so there may be multiple guides.

How do you manage to do IR without long exposures?

Removing the IR filter in your camera, or some digi-cameras that just work like a charm like the Olympus C-2020z. (Pic related. Not full quality, because those effing smartmedia cards are expensive. So I have to do with the 5Mb card.)

How do I protipped with lens without mark or P&S?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>62896
Shouldn't be an issue with a P&S. I think they focus based on the image actually on the CCD whereas SLRs have separate autofocus sensors. I could be completely wrong about that, though.

As for with unmarked SLR lenses... I dunno. Smaller aperture?

Yeah, that's true.

Lenses should be marked, maybe a few out there aren't. I suggest checking out the lens manual, but if you can't find anything, bracket for focus (take 3 or so shots with the focus changing a little bit each time, until you find what works, and then mark it if you want)

I got my D50 modified so I can take infrared photos without a long exposure. But my first time I went out shooting with it was an utter failure, because I forgot to take off a light-sparkle filter and I was trying to make HDR panoramas. The second time I went out with it was during night, and it just refused to take photos then. I still have to screw around with this thing.

Anyway, the panorama shot failed, but this part of it didn't turn out so bad.

I don't know about other brands, but 3/4 of my Canon lenses aren't marked for infrared. They're not really set up to make it easy for you to manually focus at all, really.

Get rid of the highlights in the lamp etc, by selecting that color and desaturating it.
Also, use a custom white balance.
