I took this a while ago at a friend's summer cabin.. I'm not a good photographer, so how do you like it?

Not bad for a confessed bad photographer. I'd recommend using the Rule Of Thirds on this one, though. It's a common rookie mistake to center the horizon in the frame, which is what you did here, which gives the sky and the land equal weight and is just a generally boring way to compose things in most instances. A better way to do it would be to have the shot two-thirds land, one third sky (or vice versa, depending on whether you'd rather highlight the land or the sky more).

(However, always keep in mind that the Rule Of Thirds is just a jumping off point, not a commandment. There are times when you really do want the subject centered)

I really like the tones in this and the overall scene, though. So good job.

Although, in terms of shape, those clouds provide a lot of symmetry. I'd actually like to see the horizon just a bit higher, to make it dead center, see how that comes out.
Nice shot, OP.
