first draft, city in six shots.

not quite happy with the way these came out, but my post gearwhateverbullshit:post photos ratio is something like, 15098398876:1 right now. need to work on that.

gonna reshoot:
1) 28mm lens.
2) better intersections.

yeeah boy. i forgot to mention that these are all albuquerque, new mexico.

and this is pretty much how it looks. i need to swap a few pictures for endless suburbs and a few slums, but otherwise, 1000% accurate. homie can vouch.

sonovabitch..

i really like this idea. but i definitely agree about the better intersections.. you just drove up indian school and hung a left on san pedro (dangerously close to my house)

get down in the valley and then make a trek up to the top of tramway. this town has a ton of gold to offer up and your shots are overflowing with potential

pretty much. we have mountains.. then it's flatsville.

man, it looks hot as shit. (temperature-wise)

These don't really say "Albuquerque" so much as they do "average American city.'

Take that as you will.

>i forgot to mention that these are all albuquerque, new mexico.

I was there a couple years back. I remember it being more reds, oranges, yellows, and browns... the colors were what I remember best.

Sucks that they painted everything grey now, huh?

I don't think the "Rearview mirror in every shot" idea works unless there's something interesting in both the rearview mirror and the rest of the frame, and if the rearview-shot didn't include your car. It could actually be a serious bit of win if done properly. As it is... just looks like you were too lazy to get out of your damn car. The only one that looks like the dual-framing might have been on purpose is>>147936but the lack of a compelling subject in the mirror on any other shot tells me that this was probably more accident than intention.

Get out of your damn car is the point I'm trying to make here.

too much sideview mirror, too little people / landscape pics.

I've never been to Albuquerque, but it looks pretty boring and flat from these pics.

Elliott Erwitt did it pretty fucking well.

Maaan. I was hoping I was a genius who had come up with that idea for the first time.

In terms of beautiful street photography, Elliott Erwitt has pretty much thought of EVERYTHING before us.

Dammit. This is why I need a time machine.

Well, this and for picking up chicks.

agreed. i'm going to try and work this idea into something a little more substantial. people waiting at crosswalks, more landscape. i'll probably include the rearview mirror still, because i think 147936 has something delicious going on. to be perfectly honest, i just wanted to post some photos to prove that i actually do shoot and don't just talk.

really,>>147942

hit the nail on the head. i really just drove like, four miles on two roads. albuquerque is a 20 by 30 miles square and has a bit more to offer than strip malls, though not by much. back to work!

I think the whole "include-a-rearview-mirror-in-every-shot-thing" sort of underscores how 90% of any viewing of this city anyone will do is probably from a car. It seems like a very highway-oriented town.
