No it doesn't. The file you upload is the exact file that's displayed by 4chan's servers.

BAWWWWW THEY ARENT FAPPING TO MY BORING PIECE OF "ART"

Seriously. If you're going to try art photography, then you should try and communicate something to the viewer. This really doesn't communicate anything outside of the fact that it looks like shit.

i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the pose of the subject in the picture reflected against the blocky straightness of the surroundings.

surroundings = modernism, equality, symmetry
subject = postmodernism, random

nice job missing the point though, everyone

ITT: OP throws a hissy fit

PS: Your explanation is horse shit.
>i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the pose of the subject in the picture reflected against the blocky straightness of the surroundings.
>surroundings = modernism, equality, symmetry
>subject = postmodernism, random

BITCH IS FUCKING POSED YOU DIPSHIT.
POSED ? RANDOM

Hey, its the OP trying to explain his vision.

If you're trying to emphasis the geometry of the surroundings, then the least you could do is make your photo fucking level. Otherwise you're lazy/retarded.

I also had a look at your gallery;
1. Turn off the shitty piano music. It doesn't go well with blast beats.
2. Selective colorization is stupid. Always.
3. Generally, when you group photos together its because they have some sort of common theme or idea behind them. Yours seem to be linked by crappyness, and nothing more.

Modernism is general optimistic about progress, especially industry. A shot that shows someone being oppressed by industrial machinery could be considered postmodern. Progress breaks down, dehumanization, and all that.
However, naming a single photograph after an entire genre is pretentious as hell, or possibly just ignorant. Especially with a photo that doesn't communicate all that well. Given that, the underexposure makes a certain amount of sense, but the girl's pose is overdramatic and isn't very natural. Better lighting could bring out the textures in the walls more, too. As is, it ends up being really bland.

TS Eliot sure was the optimist, wasn't he? Never talked about the world ending, or anything like that.

>>161727

Modernism doesn't mean the same thing in all genres you fuckwit.

It's called fixing the contrast, moron.
Can't do much with a shit photo, but fixing the contrast is easy.

OP here.

First of all, I understand where most of you are coming from, and I do want to thank a few who have not necessarily said anything positive, but have explained what simply does not work in this shot, and throughout my portfolio. It is by no means complete, so I don't expect a grand standing ovation by any stretch of the imagination.

Second, I'm not sure who some of you were directing your replies to, but this is my only reply after starting the post to begin with.

The thread's intent was not to put focus on the picture I posted, but just to see what other people have come up with or found in the area of portrait photography. I was not expecting such unwarranted outbursts and somewhat strange criticism (except for one person who actually made themselves useful and put it in the form of something more understandable than "sage gtfo newfag", thanks) but I do in fact appreciate and take note of everything that has been said.

I'm not bitter, I'm not having a hissy fit (again, this is only my first reply since the original post).

Thanks again mates, have a good one.

Cultural modernism is optimistic. Modernist poetry tends towards fragmentation and things breaking down. Considering that a lot of modernist poetry came from disillusionment after ww1, and cultural postmodernism really came into its' own with disillusionment following ww2, I'd say they're pretty similar in a lot of ways. And these terms are all fairly controversial anyways.

OP your problem is simple; this is far too posed and cliche.

i ALWAYS LOVE WHEN FAGGOTS COME ON HERE WITH RIDICULOUS EXPLANATIONS TO BACK UP THERE SHITTY PHOTOS WITH. GUIEZ I TUK THES PHOTO AND ITS AUTOMATICLY A GUD PHOTO BECAUSE I HAS MEANING. AS PER USUAL, WITH THIS INSTANCE BEING NO EXCEPTION, THE MEANING IS AS FUCKED AS THE PHOTO.

A good photograph doesn't need a paragraph explaining it, needs to stand by itself.
