It was so foggy it looked B+W, so I converted it to match the mood.
Shitty day for pics, but I still took my camera up.

What does /p/ think?

grey. to grey.

not enough sharp!

Try using a flash, even in bright day it will help freeze the action, esp with reflective snow it should actually do a pretty decent job of sharpening up the bottom.

Your probably right on that, I was moving while taking the pic, so I couldn't actually see what I was autofocusing on either.
Flash would have worked for fill though, should have done that.

Diff pic (still no flash)

Heres one my friends like, I'm not a big fan of it myself, but I took it because I wanted a shot that showed the Fog falloff.

the overexposed snow in this is quite horrible.
>> Anonymous
>>108260

overexposed? what?
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>108265
the snow goes from smooth white to FFFFFF where its been overexposed, its pretty much impossible to get round and you wouldnt normally notice it but the colour compression in the pic seems quite heavy. Actually might not be overexposure but the compression causing it.
>> Anonymous
I would like to see it in color to see the difference
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

I actually like the look of the snow there. The subject has a nice tonal range to see all of its details, and the background's all sort of misty and dreamy white.

Not much of a difference. truthfully, The conversion to B+W made it look granier. I didn't actually add any in photoshop.

This pic is unmodified BTW.

Noise is less unpleasant in B&W than color.

I really like the first image, though it seems neat that at first glance it looks to be taken on a set!
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s

yeah looks fine in that, must have been the compression which was really bad btw, dont use that much ok!

Heres one more. I went a little overkill on the contrast but I like how it turned out.

Wow /p/ is really active tonight, Must be a lot of photographers stuck at home on a friday night! (Much like me)

Talking about using flash, noob. Fill flash just makes things look boring and unnatural.
>> Vincent
>>108408
Actually I think it can be used well for fill, I use it for MX pics all the time, Having a 1/500 sync speed on my D50 lets me use it even in daylight. I probably could have made good use of it for skiing aswell. As long as you don't overpower the ambient light and simply use it to give the close subjects more illumination, It can look perfectly natural.
