How does /p/ edit standard, nothing-spectacular outdoor portraits? It's Halloween, after all. Share the ingredients for your secret potions.

More questions:
With a light meter reading and a shutter or aperture setting, how do you mathematically calculate the setting that is auto adjusted by the camera? (if you have x light reading and y shutter, what will z aperture be, and vice versa?)

Shit, I forgot what else I wanted to ask. I guess I'll ask what camera I should get instead. :D 0 to over 9000 price range, plz.

blurred soft light layer

If white balance is accurate then Contrast + Saturation (usually to desaturate the reds slightly)

Thats about it, Sometimes highlights, and sometimes smart sharpen (Or noise reduction if the focus is dead on and I want to smooth out the skin)

I wouldn't be surprised if you did that for a living. If not, get a job at a photography place. Easy money for you.

I usually go for blending layers like the dude over there
sharpen
overlay or soft light, multiply on some cases, but I really suck at photoshop I'm trying to get that joeyl tutorial that no one wanna provide

it's basically

double layers
soft light, overlay or multiply
sharpen (use the technique you prefer)
levels
color balance, or photo filters or shadow/highlight

not necessarily in this order

When I first looked at the thumbnail, my first reaction was "He fucked up the white balance and called it editing?'

Then I actually compared the original and your edit full size. Nice work.

i don't do it for a living.. however, i do post process all my photographs :]

What did you do to make the girl look like she just lost ten pounds?

The only flaw I see in it is that the girl's beauty mark is less prominant. You ought to make your own overpriced tutorial; forget the Joey L thing everyone's talking about. Your stuff looks natural and isn't just in a banal commercial photography style.

Whoops, forgot to mention that part. The subtle use of both Liquify and Clone tool. :]

She looked a bit chubby around the cheeks, sorry OP. lol

Does /p/ really think I could charge like 30 bucks for a decent video tutorial on 'HOW TO MAKE PHOTOS BETTER' ?
>> Anonymous
>>87698
Yes. You could probably charge a lot more.

But please give me a discount for suggesting it to you.

no been done before and probably a lot better than you ever could

You should save this as a photoshop action, then offer it for download

OP here. What's that, 300?

>>87627
I see what you did, but why the odd skin tone? I'm not digging all that orange. Maybe it's my screen, but it looks overdone.
>> Anonymous
>>87782
I noticed the orange in the skin tone as well but I didn't want to rain on everyone's parade. I think that should be toned down.

No seriously, I'd pay for a tutorial on this. No pretension and none of some mindless guy blabbering on about how to "flatter" the underarm flab of some bride.

I'd prefer a textual tutorial, though, with screencaps, to be honest. Video bothers me in excess. Like YouTube. 3/4ths of stuff on there is either stupid, would make a fuckton more sense as text instead of someone "umming" through some ranting gibberish, or both.
