Rebel XTi kit + SanDisk Ultra II 8 GB Anonymous
Best Buy is selling the XTi kit with a free Sandisk Ultra II 8 GB card for 849$CAD.

Is this a good deal?

Does it come with a good lens kit or just the plain one? If not, get a Pentax K100D plus lens kit instead.

damn, 8GB? i bought a 2gig and have never really filled it without dumping on my pc daily-ish
>> Anonymous
if it comes with the kit lens it's a damn good deal *IF* you are going to use that much space.

Sandisk ultra 2 is a very good card. but eight gigs? Even with raw that's a *hell* of a lot of space...

if you're shooting raw, then that 8GB is a must. 1GB is damn near useless with RAW, 2GB is a bit cramped. I personally use a set of 4 GBs, though I'd prefer 8GBs.

um. not unless you're a pro.

I am *not* a pro, but I take usually around 60 raw pictures a day. My 1 gig card holds a bit over a hundred raw pictures on my rebel xt.

At the end of each day I download the files to my computer and delete them from the card.

How the *hell* would you use 8 gigs in one day if you aren't a pro??

Trigger happy. And you can never have too much free space.

think about a vacation or an expedition, where you wouldn't carry your pc with you.
No need to burn your pictures at a photographer shop either.

I agree with you man, I'm still shooting film, People who go right into digital tend to spoil themselves, Shooting film your FORCED to learn how to properly set up shots, it has nothing to do with keeping up with the times like>>82011said, AND film is still higher quality then most of the average high end cameras that have 10-12 megapixls, the conversion factor on film makes it about 17 MP, let alone 11x14 plate film cameras that equal about one GIGAPIXEL, but digital will never get that far in my opinon

As for if the cameras a good deal, yea, if you get your basic 18-55mm lens with that camera, your camera, your set. I work in a pro camera shop and the camera w/ lens is $899.99 plus tax (CAD, not that it makes much difference since the dollar is about even on both sides of the border) and the card would be around $200, go for it if you want a good intro level camera

well if you're gonna throw in megapixels, im going to say

OP: get a nikon its better omg
>> Anonymous
Not really, I have seen it MUCH cheaper online. But, if like me, you can't buy it online due to terrible luck with credit cards... It's alright.

OP here.

Oddly enough, I really prefer the Canon grip compared to the Nikon D40 or D80.

And, I have a couple EF lenses already. The body only winds up more expensive so the kit is good.

I was just wondering if it was a good price.

Keep in mind I'm in Canada so shipping is super expensive and I still have to pay taxes.

What online stores are you talking about?

Digital outresolves film; film has more megapixels because it takes more than one pixel to accurately represent one grain of film.

I need to find a dead horse and take a picture of someone beating it, 'cause it would be terribly useful in this sort of thread, but posting pictures that you haven't taken is against the rules.

Why not just get a K10D? It's about the same price as this XTi and can be had for a great price online (Amazon/eBay).
