hey /p/. i recently dropped my olympus fe-230 from a height of about 2 feet with the lens out. it landed on carpet, but the thing still caved slightly inward. now when I turn it on it attempts to retract, but sticks. I can hear the gears whir then stop, whir again then stop. after this it powers itself off. Funny enough this is the second time this EXACT same thing has happened to me. the first was with an olympus fe-190, but being the retarded tinkerer that i am, i openeded it up to see if i could fix it and ended up breaking the very small cords attached to the led screen, ruining it.

So anyhow, has anyone ever had a problem like this with a point and shoot camera, or can anyone help me out here? in b4 "ur camera sux"

Stop dropping your cameras, dumbass. Wrist straps are your friend.

The camera may not sux, but seeing as you tore off the wires connected to the screen (if you really tore them, and not just pulled them out of the connectors), it will probably be cheaper to get a new one than to get this one repaired...

Read again. He's talking about the camera that he dropped. I liked ac's idea, but his posts seem to be disappearing from the board tonight -_-

I deleted it 'cause I decided it was overly mean.

Less mean version: Don't drop your camera next time.

(I left off the "Dumbass" in this version of it)
