Anyone got advice for shooting the moon? I'm using a D300 with the 80-400mm VR. Just shot this in RAW, tripod mounted, played with it in PS (though I feel like I might have done TOO much post-processing).

Give it a crop FFS.

Also, full Moon is kind of boring. Go for a gibbous or crescent Moon for some nice shadow detail at the terminator.

you know, perhaps its not a bad idea to take your shot around dusk; more light = more detail? anyway, my resulting image attached.

Yea I know it needs cropping. Just wanted to post the original size/dimensions.

I'm surrounded by tall trees, so the moon didn't fully appear until it was totally dark. Tomorrow night I could go out earlier to a higher altitude clearing.

Heh, I was waiting for this. I post asking for tips on making the picture better and get someone who just says "dis suxors" but doesn't offer any advice. I needed a good chuckle, thanks.
