Nikon F Anonymous
First of all, sorry for the awful background. (The background also happens to be my room.)
I wanted to submit this picture of my Nikon F camera that I've gotten from my father. The lens is Nikkor Zoom 36-72mm 3.5, and I'm asking for a price check for the Nikon F model. I have a feeling that the people here do have some information concerning old cameras, and I'm really curious about the value of this Nikon.
Sorry if I am in the wrong place.

Our price information for old cameras like this generally comes from eBay. You could check eBay as easily as we could.

I.e., gtfo.

Prepare to be underwhelmed. Stick a handle on it and use it to drive nails until someone in the family really wants it. They're not worth selling for what they get these days.

or you could use it and have fun

The pleasure you could get from using it is worth more than you could get hawking your dad's stuff for drug money.

At first I was like "wha?" but then I was like "lol."

I know the blur is obvious and ugly. I just wanted to quickly get rid of the background details, which I didn't want to share with the Internet. Therefore, the blur serves a purpose.
Anyway, thanks /p/

You know what would make that easier? If you had a camera that had a full 35mm film surface and could use wide-aperture lenses. Like a Nikon F, for instance.

Yeah. If only he was lucky enough to own a Nikon F to take pictures with in between sessions of hammering nails.

Careful with that advice. By shooting pics of his Nikon F with his Nikon F he'll create a time paradox and we're all fucked.

I heard that they use Nikon cameras to up-armor military vehicles in Iraq. Stop all known IEDs and you can still hammer a nail in with them afterwards or even take a picture.

A BRIDGE BETWEEN CANNON AND NIKON?

IMPOSSIBLE I SAY!

Frankly, you can trust Nikon gear. The same goes for high end Canon gear. It's reliable. It's sturdy. It will take the abuse that goes with professional rigors. You can pick up a Nikon every day, and use it, just like you use a tool. Hell, you can drive nails with old Nikons. That's the quality we're talking about here.

When you make your livelihood, you don't choose the brand that offers an equivalent, even similar system, you choose the brand that is a trustworthy and time-tested tool. Thus, Nikon. There are always distinctions to be made between Nikon and Canon, but I've often heard this statement, and I believe it: Canons are the best cameras made by engineers, but Nikons are the best cameras made by photographers. It's a generalization, but that feels very true to me.
