So /p/ this is my first time posting here, and, I had my first session of photography today for an A level and what i can say, it is extremely AWESOME, so i am really thinking of buying a SLR digital camera, so What do u recommend (thinking of a maximum price of 1200) thinking of for it for an amateur photographer

Buy an entry level DSLR (Rebel, D40, K100D, etc.) or one a level up (40D, D80, K10D, A100, etc.), depending on what you want and need. You won't get much higher image quality by going for a more expensive one, so throw that out of the consideration.

Go to a camera store, hold them in your hand, and buy the one that feels the most comfortable.

Then buy a fast (low f/#) normal prime (a 28mm lens is just about perfect, 30 and 35mm are also options) and you're set to start learning well.
