sup /p/

im using these failure rechargeable batteries. they suck ass, ever since I bought them they drain too fast, and these were the recommended size for my digital cam. so whats a better alternative to these shit batteries? FYI batteries are 2500 mAh nimh. I have 4 in all. 2 of them wont even charge, the other 2 charge but run dead after like 5 mins and this is with an 8 hour charge to full capacity. camera takes 2 batteries.

I was told to go up to the 2650 mAh batteries and possibly get the lithium ion ones. do they make these in rechargeable?

thoughts plz

buy eneloops

I've got those same batteries and they work fine for me. Do normal, non-rechargeable batteries work in your camera?
>> Anonymous
>>121599
I also have those same batteries, and they also work just fine. There is either a problem with your camera, or your batteries.
>> Anonymous
Pro tip: These batteries aren't meant to last forever.

And if you're telling me "LOL I BOUGHT THEM LAST WEEK" then return them to the fucking store.

I too have these exact same batteries. My Canon S5 takes 4 of them. I can go out shooting for the day and only use the EFV and then repeat that the next weekend. I've had a great experience with these batteries.
>> elf_man !!DdAnyoDMfCe
I've never counted, but my powershot a530 gets at least 200 shots with those. Although it takes four batteries.
>> Xeno
You should go to RadioShack and get batteries, they sell better batteries for camera, rechargeable too, so yeah try there that's where I got my batteries for my camera from and it last a while before I have to swap it for the other one, I have the Ni-MH

>>121598
Seconded. Just buy sanyo eneloops, best batteries you can get for a reasonable price.
Also: if you are using batteries in packs (i.e. 4 per camera) the total capacity depends on your worst battery, so don't mix'n'match them.
>> Anonymous
And I forgot, don't use a shit charger, those super quick ones shorten your battery life. Anything that charges the batteries in >=5 hours or so is a safe bet.
Get eneloops, a new charger and if it still doesn't work, your camera is broken.

I use these, my F5 takes 8 of them.
Protip: Use a good charger!!!! La Crosse BC-900 Charger is by far the best.

Also, you cannot get lithium ion in 1.5V (AA, AAA, C, D) because lithium ion has a terminal voltage of 3-3.6V depending on the chemistry.
>> Anonymous
>>122283
I've seen non-rechargeable 1.5V lithium batteries (perhaps they have some different chemistry than 3V ones)
>> Anonymous
Eneloops ftw. I like how they don't go flat after a few days in the camera. I've managed over 500 shots with popup flash on Eneloops.
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa

They aren't Lithium ion (Li-ion), hence non-rechargeable. You can try but you make get some interesting results like fire and explosions :D

OP Here.

just a FYI I ditched the energizer 2500 mAh batteries and purchased 4 new duracell 2650 mAh batteries and a charger for them. takes 6-7 hours for full charge. I bought and charged these 2 days ago. took like 50 pics, 7 mins of video and the batteries have not stopped at all, in fact the battery meter is still showing FULL capacity. so dont give me this "get a real camera" it IS a real camera. apparently the previous batteries i had were either undersized, or were dfective. all I can say is I am happy with these batteries. the old ones would lose charge sitting in the camera whileit was off. these duracell's have not. I checked the other 2 batteries that I charged and they are fully charged as well after sitting 2 days after a charge. I would ge like 5-6 pics before i get low battery warnings before. not anymore. so my advice is always get batetries rated higher than your camera recommends, I made the mistake of getting the actual recommended mAh ratings. and they failed.

Failure for not getting Eneloops.

I love the duracells I've got, they last a long time and are cheap as fuck
>> Anonymous
Those don't last long for me, and I'm assuming only because I don't have the recharger to them, I have to use my old battery recharger. My old batteries worked like a charm though. Rayovac rechargeable I think...

lol

Costco sells 48 AA alkaline Duracells for 8.99$. You can buy like, 5 packs of these for the price of rechargeables. Unless you care about the environment.

I put them in my Speedlites and they give stronger output at the sacrifice of shorter life. I just swap new ones in when I feel they get weaker. Fuck recycling, I've got 240 of them.
>> Anonymous
>>122918
uh, I don't see much profit in that.
$8.99 will get you 2 to 4 good rechargeables, which last longer on single charge than cheap alkalines, especially when used in flashes. So after like twenty recharge cycles you begin saving, not to mention your pockets aren't filled with over 9000 alkalines anymore.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>122918
Enjoy your slower Alkaline recycle times.
>> Anonymous
>>122928

If 9$ gives me 4 rechargeables, that means I have to spend 108$ to get 48 batteries.

Yes, rechargeables will have a longer lifespan when in use, I said it in my previous post. But in my experience, I get off 300 shots with alkalines compared to 500 shots with rechargeables. Now if you want to calculate which one is better, do it but until then, alkalines are still cheaper.
>> Anonymous
>>122931

The recycle time is onlhy an issue if you need to hammer the flash consistently.

Have you ever thought that when I need 48 batteries, I have 3 flash heads going and it's in a controlled environment? If I'm not going 1:1, it's all the same.
>> Anonymous
>>122935
when no one was looking, anon bought FORTY-EIGHT rechargeables.
that's as many as four dozens.
and that's terrible.
>> Anonymous
>>122937

Is that some /co/ on my /p/?
>> Anonymous
>>122936
I dunno, when you need 3 flash heads in a "controlled environment", isn't it a better idea to power them from mains?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>122936
What exactly are you shooting? Even if it's a controlled environment, I find that having your flash ready quicker is always an advantage. Models get bored, they move, and sometimes that absolute best expression flickers by in an instant, never to be seen again.

Also, if you run the numbers using the $8/48 Alkalines vs. $108/48 NiCads that was bandied about, you start saving money at shoot #13. And that's assuming you actually need 48 batteries. Remember that rechargeables are, you know, *rechargeable*. You can recharge them and use them again. You don't need to pack 48 to power three flash heads.

I don't take pictures of models. I take pictures of stuff they wear. It's not high fashion, it's quantity over quality. Think Walmart clothes.

"Also, if you run the numbers using the $8/48 Alkalines vs. $108/48 NiCads that was bandied about, you start saving money at shoot #13"

If you actually did the math, including the 300 vs. 500 shots, that's good to know.

I'll need to sit down and think it through one time. Because if I do use the budget to buy rechargeables, I can't be caught with my pants down and not have enough to replace spare sets.

>If you actually did the math, including the 300 vs. 500 shots, that's good to know.
I didn't. I just multiplied. When you factor in the fact that you can take more shots with the rechargeables, it works out even better.
