question about the HVL-F58AM flash Anonymous
so i was checking out the sony HVL-F58AM flash and thought it was pretty fucking clever the way it swivels left and right 90 degrees

then i checked out some videos on it and pictures and realized that apparently, it doesn't rotate?

i didn't see this mentioned in reviews or anything and from the looks of the pictures, it really doesn't rotate

how are you meant to bounce the light from the left or right>

it's an honest question

looked at plenty of pictures, the head itself doesn't rotate from what i can see

and by rotate, i mean something like this

not the best picture to illustrate it, kind of hard to find on google actually

OP: take your original picture and rotate it 90 degrees counter clockwise.

that's how you bounce from the left and right.

it doesn't seem to do the same angles as a classic flash would do, like the old HVL-F56AM

the new one does like.. straight 90 degrees angles, it doesn't rotate on itself liike the old one does

That flash is ugly as shit, but the rotating is pretty cool.

I have a flash that only tilts & doesn't rotate in any direction, and it's kind of a pain in the dick.

no it's not.

1: swivel
2: move flash head "up"

You can bounce easy to right and left. Use your brain.

a regular flash head pretty much moves 360 degrees in any direction in a "half sphere" shape

this doesn't do any of those angles, it's stuck on one axis

With some thinking, it does

Happy ? has better coverage than normal flash.

looks like it doesn't sit as tall as a regular flash would when firing it left or right

see>>260796

it's tall and well above the subject, the F58AM would be a good few inches lower

Looks terrible

The coverage isn't better: you can't fire it straight backwards, for example. But the convenience of using diffusers/bouncers in portrait orientation easily outweighs that, I suppose.

No, this flash has a much wider degree of movement. Don't be a dumbshit.
