Looks fine on my monitor.

Which... actually might prove your point. I've got the brightness on this screen set way the hell high 'Cause it makes works better that way for programming.

its just how the metering happened, it saw bright from the flames to it compensated by stopping it up, thus making the pic overall darker.
But it doesn't seem too bad on my monitor, and i have brightness set at 40/100

actually, you two, i had my laptop monitor tilted back and i didn't realize it which is why i said that. also the opportunity for a cheap joke. but what's funny is that you both agreed with me a little.

it's fucked up how one person can have a skewed perception, say something based on it that's obviously not true, and have other people adjust their beliefs to accomodate for the fact that this brainless stranger MUST know what they're talking about. this is how religions get started.

i didn't expect to get hit by this much reality on /p/ today.

Oh yes, people are far, far too easy to manipulate.

Which is why, if at all avoidable, LCDs in general and laptop screens in particular are not suited for photo editing. Even if it's calibrated, different tilts will make the screen look vastly different. Plus, less dynamic range than a CRT.
