Hey /p/, long time lurker here. I've been thinking about getting a camera and doing some photography of my own once i can afford it (life is a bit of a mess right now, moving to Australia), but don't have a clue what sort of camera i should get.

I figure you guys might be able to suggest a few decent cameras that i could take my pick from. Nothing too extravagent, just something that can take decent sharp pictures and has the ability to take black and white as well.

Thanks.

Also, in b4 flames and cries of 'gtfo nub'.

Pic unrelated.

>Hey /p/, I've either never been here before in my life or I'm completely illiterate, as evidenced by the fact that I'm asking for camera buying advice despite there being fifteen threads answering my exact question during any average day on /p/
Fix'd.

If you don't have a clue - here's my simple advice. Choose a budget - then choose a Canon camera that matches your budget. All cameras take black and white, btw.

If you have no experience with cameras, consider a low-end digital SLR. So far, nikon makes the cheapest ones that are good for the price ($600-$800). If you feel bad about the price, consider that you'll be saving a lot of time and money and developing than if you got a film camera. with digital you can toy around with all the speeds and functions and whatnot and see how it all comes out so you can get experience or whatever.

No one needs to spend $600-800 on their first camera.

Thank you so very much for your elite dipshittery. Considering it's coming from a tripfag, all i can do is laugh.

The few of you who bothered giving serious/semi-serious replies, thanks. Advice heeded.
