PS - That's not me in the shot; it's my girl. It was an unintentional, spur-of-the-moment shot. I'm a dude, in case you were curious. No, not like 'The Dude'. I dont like bowling that much.

Congratulations, you've taken a picture with a Leica that looks like it was taken with a cell phone.

Why do you think this is nice? It might help to hear what you like about it. If nothing else, it would reassure me somewhat that I'm not getting trolled.

Well, considering the camera is digital, coupled with being make in 1999. Digital in '99? Primitive is a good word of description. So the quality isn't that good, so what?

What I like about it is the high contrasts. The most immediate is the lighting contrast; a simple argument can be made that the left is dark and the right is light. In adition, the color of the hair is in complete contrast to everything else in the pic.
I like the fact that the face is shrouded & that the widnow (to the right) is the only thing that's external, further adding to the right/left idea. Also, since the face is shrouded, it forces the viewer to look at the form of the person, not the qualities, the expression, nor the physical emotes: that close-up and neutral of a pose is just too vague to portray too much emotion, so you're left evaluating the form itself.

But all in all, I just really like the lighting. Maybe it's because it's the only shot of it's kind in the series I took (all out a window).

But yes, the camera's shitty. But that's not what I was asking for, was it?

No.

Plus I can't help it: I've always liked blurry, fuzzy photos. Nothing too fuzzed out though, so that a portrait has the facial features blurred out beyond recognition. Just a softness added here and there, blurier than your usual post-shot beauty-treatments.

I think this would be good if there was less blur/shake and the exposure was balanced

i'm with ac here. i thought you were trolling. my spider sense is still sort of tingling.

there's no contrast here at all. everything in this pic is dull including not only color and lighting but composition as well.
this is a low contrast, unfocused, improperly exposed 'random snapshot'.

i'm pretty sure that nobody but you saw any of the things that you said you liked about this shot, and i'm sure that, like me, most of us are still having a hard time seeing how YOU could see what you saw in it. a good photo shouldn't need to be explained, it should explain itself.

random snapshot of your girlfriend for the m-m-m-mosnter fail.

There's nothing 'nice' about this photo in any sense of the word. It's dark, noisy, blurry, clipped to hell, and boring.

Okay, I looked at my OP again, and I can see where you're coming from. Plus, I should have realized: it's /p/. As in, /p/hotophiles.

But does anyone like this shot of a glacier? Or did I not light it right on the only camera I was willing to take on my hike on one of my favorite places in the world?

Nice texture. Kind of boring compo, though. Glaciers are amazing, I wish I'd had a chance to walk on one.

Franz Josef Glacier?

Yeah, Franz Josef. Helluva environment. Too bad the village is 3 streets. I can walk from one end of town to the other in 5 minutes. But it was worth it. Plus, I got to take her out of the US, and around my beautiful country. She's wanted to travel outside the states since she was 13. I'm glad I was able to do that for her.
