Ricoh Capilo GX 100. Fail or Win?
>> Anonymous
Win. Large sensor for a P&S, professional build quality, nice, rotating EVF that hooks on the top, DNG RAW.
>> Anonymous
epic win, can shoot at 1:1 square ratio, one of the few afforable digital cameras to do that

Large sensor? 1/1.75" isn't that big...

Pro tip: you can crop to a square format on every camera ever made. All using the square-format mode does is gives you less opportunity to change the particular 7MP crop you take out of the 10MP sensor later.

For a point and shoot. Most of them have 1/2.5 sensors. It's among the largest I've seen. I remember seeing one with a 1/6, but that's it.

And make framing a hell of a lot more intuitive. Hopefully, the RAW files let you get to the other stuff, but I'd love to see other cameras have a similar feature, or better yet, square crop lines that show up in the viewfinder.

I guess. The PowerShot A series cameras that I've looked up have 1/1.8", which isn't that much smaller.

(Although, huh, the S3IS has a 1/2.5". That's lamer than I suspected. My old Minolta DiMAGE A200 had a 2/3)

I guess I'm just an elitist bastard who thinks anything less than an APS-C-sized sensor is tiny.

>or better yet, square crop lines that show up in the viewfinder.
Yeah, square crop lines would be win. But a reduced-resolution mode? I never, ever use a reduced resolution mode. I haven't willingly put my camera in less-than-max resolution mode since 2003. And then, only because I only had a 32M card and I didn't want to run out of space while there was a hot redhead rapidly removing clothing in front of me.

Fujifilm with their new F50fd has a 1/1.6"

And since reading this:
* 24mm-equiv wide is win
* Dual control wheels are win
* Raw support is win
* Wee tiny noisy sensor is lose
