Gig Photography perpetuated !cfvwP9V6vc
If anyone remembers my previous gig photography thread, can I have a little critique on this picture?

Taken with a Pentax MZ-M and Hoya 135mm f/2.8 prime. On Kodacolour VR400 film.

I may have used a flash for this one?

If your subject wasn't an asshole drummer with false eyelashes and hair that looks like a bad wig this might be more interesting.

Also fix your levels. This looks washed out.
No deep blacks or bright highlights makes it look blaaaaaaaand.

Highlights are way too blown out.
I know it's difficult to get good shots in clubs, but his guitar looks OMG BLINDING WHITE at the top when you can tell from the bottom that it's actually a cream color.

I can't tell what's going on with his cardigan, and I like that, but this feels like LOMO BAND SHOT #792 because of the over-saturated, hyper-vivid color.

Better? Is there any way to sort 'levels' somewhat on camera with a film SLR?

Lomo comment: yeah, that wasn't intentional. I hate the lighting there. It really is awful. The fact that my flash's front diffuser has melted and given a colour cast has probably hindered things.

Definitely better.
I took the image into Photoshop as well and came out with basically the same thing.

My only other comment is that the image feels kinda tight... I wish it was landscape instead of vertical, so that there was a little breathing room around the subject.
