newfag in photography here.

how do you take care of your dslrs and equipment, anon? where do you store em when at home, how do you carry them around, etc.

camera dude told me to buy a bag that zips to make sure dust doesnt touch my camera.

I kept my original Digital Rebel in a fairly simple zippered bag for over 3 years with no problems. Only had to clean the sensor once.

I guess you never changed lenses then.

unless you have a 5D/1D/D3 its care. Just wear it on your shoulder with the strap. Dont think about dust.. When it becomes a problem, you clean. Its no issue at all. DSLRs are just the kind of thing that makes people act like a 6yo with a new bike. For some reason that pisses me off. I guess im an angry guy.

OHHHHHH SCARY DUST IS SCARY!

give me a fucking break, dust is a non issue

the above comments do not apply if you shoot closed all the way down

so, how about getting a crumpler (would a 4million be enough for my body with kit lens attached, 50mm f/1.8 and a 430ex?) and a zipper bag for storing in my room?

Frequently. In fact it originally didn't even fit in the bag unless I took the kit lens off.

Get yourself a nice bag, and dont drop it on concrete. you should be alright otherwise. just treat it like glass :/

no

shooting wide open, dust is invisible

shooting closed down, you'll see dots
