This will be my first time posting images. I only have 2 for now.

I primarily take nature photographs, but I want to move into portraiture and try some creative shots.

I had to rip these from my flickr account, as the computer storing my images is down.

CC please.

Damn, it doesn't have my exif data.

Oh well, if anyone wants more info, ask. I use a Canon EOS 40D with a 28-135 USM IS zoom lens.

I've been into photography since I was a kid. Only recently have I put more effort into refining it. A Canon Powershot S2 IS was the best camera I had before the 40D. I upgraded because I felt that non-SLR cameras were starting to handicap me.

One constant in my work is the lack of postprocessing. A good photograph should come straight from the camera. Does /p/ have any advice for me, while sticking to that rule of mine?

Also, can anyone recommend a good lens for this kind of photography?

Canon 17-40mm f/4 L

And postprocessing is a necessary part of photography, so stop being a fag.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Also, I'm not AGAINST post-processing. I just like to avoid overdoing it, or not do it at all, if possible.

i like this, has vivid color and range. the water looks especially nice, very detailed, dark in the foreground, cool cloud reflections
>>243353
good job with contrast and color considering limited post-processing

i strive for the same result when i'm shooting, i never did any post-processing until i switched to shooting RAW, now i will adjust wb, exposure, contrast, saturation when converting to jpg, but usually pretty minimal.

keep shooting and posting

Horizon feels tilted. It's not, but it feels that way anyway--you've got too much in the lower left corner.

Also, the scene as a whole feels pretty empty. Very scenic, but doesn't come anywhere close to replicating the feel of being there when it's flattened out to two dimensions.

Not terrible. I think the blurred stalk all the way in the background detracts from the composition a bit, though.

Shoot film. Film looks better without any postprocessing than digital does.
