It's a pretty sweet lens so far, I just bought it on sunday so I can't really go super in depth. It's crazy sharp wide open (which is pretty much where the lens is going to stay)... and for ~$300, i'd def recommend it.

Amazing work man! I wish I can become as good as you. I bought an XSi and a couple of books in August but haven't had the time to go out there and practice! Anyways, really nice stuff. Cheers fellow Vancouverite! :-)

hobos and people walking by on the street is not "street photography" it has been done 9 billion times(not innocent here, I too have done it), nice light & shadows at>>266712but that's about it. HCB is rolling on his grave at the great influx of "street photographers" like this.

You have to see the curves, the lines, the shadows, the textures, the patterns, have a clean composition and less busy backgrounds.

Annotating your own photos doesn't make them any better. Good job making a mediocre shot worse by showing off your terrible attitude.
>> soulr !lK4GD5SleY
>>266811
fact is I never said I take good photos, most I think about them is that they are mediocre, I only annotated in it to show that it actually had some thought in it before being made, not just randomed in the middle of the street, what? cant you be self critique about your photos or something?
>> else !L6xabslN96
>>266803
woah did u seriously think about all that before taking the shot, or is it just retrospective analysis?
>> soulr !lK4GD5SleY

all except for the cyan things, that I just added for the artsy fartsy factor.
>> Anonymous
>>266812
All that thinking sure paid off. What the fuck is the point of your photo? What have your "subjects" got to do with each other? Do you think you get points for every time you apply rule of thirds? Go play with autocad, it's more suited to you. You don't have a single artistic bone in your body.

And even if you have invested hours of thinking about the composition, it still looks boring. This is exactly what you learn at universities or photography courses but if you really want to do interesting and innovative shots, try out yourself and stop looking into books.

1/2000 ? 1/5000 ? Srsly?
I'm a huge noob at photography, and I'm trying to understand how to get good shots and such. But when I try to take a picture, with the settings thats in the exif data, say 1/2000, low f-value, low iso, it gets all dark - and the exif says no flash. Is it just a VERY sunny day?

>>266685
However there is definitely something going on in this photo. You have a hobo, 2 mean in similar business suits, and 2 men in blue suits representing 3 different classes. Over the hobo is the word straight, like the straight truth of the situation. Nicely done.

It's just the proper exposure for the image, go outside when it's sunny and stick your camera on aperture priority and spot metering.
