Ok, day 3 of my messing with lighting....

This is light diffused through wax paper - background is curved construction paper (like with a dyi lightbox)....

The results are unspectacular today, but I like the colours, the glow/shine below the cups and what not.

C&C (well mostly tips and advice) welcome and greatly requested..

(you'll have to excuse the border - I hate how light-coloured pictures look against the white background of browsers)

go forth my son, and market thyself as a product photographer.

you have garden plants in your drinks....
atleast the first one is my mom has some of that.

i like the colors, it looks alot like a render.
all around id say well done

i guess if you want comments on the lighting id only have to say its not even, but it doesnt really look like you went for that.
>> Anonymous
It doesn't look even. Like the light is centered at the upper middle area so your backdrop looks dirty

you could mark where each cup is, and cut out holes, where the cups sit, then place the whole setup on a plane of glass, and add some light from below.

What was the story with that yellow heart thing the other day?
I thought that was really cool...

lol one day

>>235897
garden plants indeed
+>>235908
Yeah, can't be unseen. I may make a more cerial light box for better lighting in that case - I thought some paper diffuser shit would be enough in this case.. (though I did shine it back and up on purpose to get the colour stuff underneath the cup)

>>236015
sounds epic, that may be my light experiment for tonight

>>236029
oh it was a salt rock - they have a great quality of glowing when light is shined on them... I put the salt rock on a plate of Plexiglas covered in drops of water, and then under-lit it (with a focused light that was shining directly on the rock).

seconding the thing about uneven lighting. partly because of the contents of the glass, the green glass on the far left is much darker and distracting.
>> Mr. Higgzbuffonton !!Xsltv1VWxZT
>>236101
well the green glass IS darker - used a different green, perhaps this wasn't a great idea.
>> Anonymous
what are you using for lights?
>> sage !i/euDJmWr2
>>236162
oh, I know, the darkness of it though makes it look too dark in comparison to the others, and the shadow in the bottom left is kind of distracting.

I do think its a pretty neat picture though, glasses of colored liquid are fun to shoot and really easy to test lights with.

some (...2) halogen lights through wax paper (its all I've got bright enough atm)

>>236214
ah I see, thanks.

I may try to lessen the shadow at the left a bit with photoshop.. I didn't really notice it before, but it -is- quite heavier on that one than the others
BTW I'm not doing a new one for today, I'm tired as hell.

are those basically like work lights or are the meant for studio work?
>> Mr. Higgzbuffonton !!Xsltv1VWxZT
>>236365
I couldn't say, though I highly doubt they're for anything like studio work..

(I just happened to have them - I didnt go out and buy lights)

is this too obvious? I added light to the right and tried to lessen the shadow of the cup on the left..

Alien Skin Blowup, Dodge/Burn, Blur tool around the floor, Redfield Perfectum filter (smart surface blur w/ edge detection and antialiasing), unsharp mask, size back down because it lacked details in large res to make it look too fake.
>> Anonymous
>>236558
yeah, it is still kinda dark. You can fix it by dodging with a small brush up close. I only did the background and floor.

will do, but first some sleep.

Thanks so much anon, looks great.. many months of happiness shine upon your peoples.
