I'll have to find myself another FF EXIF plugin.

That shot was taken with a full-frame 5d, so the focal length is what it is. If you have a crop sensor, make sure you compensate with an even wider focal length...I'm not sure what that would be.

Wide-angles can be a lot of fun with street photography, but it's tougher to get close and snap some picks without getting noticed.

Basically, the wider, the better for street photography? ~ 20mm?

What's a crop sensor, by the way? I have a Nikon D80.

Go google "Crop factor" and look at the wikipedia article.

day/night?

you don't need a special lens

you need slow shutter speed

So basically, if I'd shoot two photos with the same lens, one of a film camera and the other on a digital camera, the digital one would give me a tighter crop? And a crop sensor automatically crops the image?

Night, mostly. Low light. But day too.

Mostly just affects resolution issues.

You need a fast (wide-aperture) lens if you're going to be shooting at night. Look at that first. In terms of focal length, wider is not necessarily better. I shoot most of my street stuff with a nifty fifty (full frame camera), and sometimes I prefer something longer, unless I'm in a crowded situation.
