Dear /p/.
I was browsing eBay, looking for a Pentax dSLR.
How come the Pentax *ist is so cheap compared to others? Am I missing something?

How old is 'older'?

No idea, this is just something other denizens of /p/ have said, and I'm repeating it.

I don't think the other models do either, I know my K100d doesn't.

And think about it, how would it be possible to autofocus a lens that was made before autofocus lens mechanisms were?

pentax suck at dslrs. the leaders are clearly canon and nikon, and have been for a while.

Ah, but Nikon made a teleconverter that did just that. Well, sort of. It did manage to get some AF functionality on MF lenses. It was only meant for certain film AF cameras, but I think a couple people hacked theirs to play nice with a D200.

On topic, it's cheap because it's an old, discontinued model. It's not a bad camera at all.

"On topic, it's cheap because it's an old, discontinued model. It's not a bad camera at all."

I owned one before my D80, and it was a bad camera. Atrocious color bleeding, slow and shitty operation, poor low-light autofocus, terrible viewfinder...
