sup /p/

looking for an amateur camera in the 'bridge digital camera' category. My maximum price is around 350 dollars/250 euro's.

Any tips on actual camera's or certain things I need to look out for will be nice!

Your OP and the larger version of it (FZ-50) are the best ones that're in the body style of an SLR and have an EVF. If you want 28mm equiv., get its sucessor, the FZ18.

If you're looking for something more compact but with an EVF, the Ricoh GX-200. If you're looking for something more compact but with an optical finder, the Panasonic LX-3, or if you don't mind being stuck on one wide length (28mm equivalent) the Ricoh GR-D.

Everything else recent sucks/is 100% aimed at consumers/etc., most companies abandoned serious bridge cameras around 2004/5.

Fuji makes good bridge cameras. Like only company that keeps making them.
Hm.. old stuff like Sony R-1 or Minolta A1/A2/A200
Canon G6 is good too.
Save up some more and just get entry level DSLR with kit lens.
