colors are too bland, and lighting is really bad. Nothing some quick tweaks on photoshop can't fix

There's gotta be more to these prime lenses, seeing as they get recommended to me left and right. So for 50mm f 1.4, is USD 300ish fair price?

Primes have the advantage of having a wider aperture and better image quality vs. zooms.

Since primes don't have to change the focal length, they don't have to compromise sharpness to focal length. But yeah, the biggest difference is, like 28994 said, that with wider aperture, you get much more shallow DOF, which is better for portaiture, and you can photograph in much more low-lit conditions than with the zoom counterparts. I don't know about Nikkor lenses though, but 300 USD for a 50mm f/1.4 sounds like a fair deal to me.

Aye, too bad the composition is also shit. :/

Is that in a resturant? If so, wouldn't it be kind of akward pulling out your camera and taking a shot? If so, how do you get over the akwardness :(

Oh we were having an office outing, so it was a really long table of us officemates. This is like one picture out of many pictures of us fooling around with food.
