I just bought a camera and lenses from America, Cost me around AUD $1500.

now i have to fill out all import declarations. declaring my ID and ABN/CAC/CCID, I have no *naughty word* idea about the majority of the stuff they ask. Confused and homeless, i need help.

Anyone experienced this before? if so how would one go about resolving it.

I don't understand the problem at all. Just fill out the paperwork and pay the tax. If you don't understand some of what they want you to fill out, either look it up or ask someone to explain it to you. If a section doesn't apply to you, just leave it blank or fill it "N/A" for 'not applicable'.

**either look it up or ask someone to explain it to you.**

Thats why im asking here lol. its very confusing as it is my first time importing something over the value of $1000

I need to find a Tariff number for camera's, and i dont know where to find it. ive looked on the www.customs.gov.au
site.
>> Anonymous
Wow, you have to pay a tariff on personal imports? Here I thought the only bad thing going for Ausfailia was its shit gun laws and screwed over ecosystem.

lol did you actually not research this before hand?

this is why you buy a parallel imported locally, it basically means you pay slightly more than what you would pay if you imported it yourself except you dont have to deal with the customs/foreign supplier bullshit.

now that its too late, go out to where-ever theyre holding your package with at least $300 and fill in all the forms, show them the receipt and pay the required GST and handling fees and you should have your stuff.
i say take at least 300 to ensure you have enough, as there's no point making multiple trips because you were short $20...
dont try and fool them, theyve been in this game long enough to know what your doing...

just get them to do an invoice for less than 1000 dollars.

Or get it delivered via FedEx... none of my packages over 1000 dollars with FedEx have been checked.
