would benefit greatly from cropping though

how did you do it, please tell

you combine multiple exposure into a single image creating a "high dynamic range" of tones that is closer to what the human actually sees

Most decent cameras these days have automatic bracketing, use this. If you're using a P&S set exposure, and then over expose by 1 stop and underexpose by one stop. You can go further than 1 stop in either direction if needed or wanted. USE SHUTTERSPEED not APERTURE. While in some cases you could use the aperture, doing so changes your dof and can and will screw up the final image.

Then take all the images and open them using the hdr automate in photoshop. If I recall correctly it's under file. Here is were standard procedure varies and exploration is best for understanding how it works.

A tripod is also required because the image must not shift around but be the same in all unless you have computer that can handle the auto-align. I know my mine can't.

Did I miss anything?

isn't making HDR with a single RAW file automatic fail

since you're not really getting more data from different exposures but just under and over exposing your one exposure
>> Anonymous
OP Here, I made the shot with Photomatix. It is an HDR processing program. Basically I took the RAW file and used the RAW editor that came with my camera (Olympus Master, I have an Evolt E-500) and changed the EV Compensation by a standard deviation of 2 steps. Then I used photomatix to process the HDR. Hope that helped!
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
its not TRUE HDR
>> Anonymous
>>132052
Pushing or pulling EV compensation in a single RAW file isn't going to reveal much more detail in highlights and shadows, which is the point of HDR.
Also, Olympus Master is epic fail, get a decent RAW converter.

You don't seem to understand that we know better than you?

Ok well, I would like to see you take multiple exposures of a moving object, kthx. Also I have no money for a RAW developer.

For moving objects, use exposure bracketing (although E-500 sucks at that) to shoot in rapid succession, then clean up moving objects manually when making a HDR image. It takes time and skill, but it's possible. Making a HDR image out of a single RAW is pointless, you might as well have tone-mapped a single non-HDR image.

As for RAW converters, can't you even steal Olympus Studio, lol?
>> Anonymous
>>132208

Well, I know what exposure bracketing is, but the E-500 isn't world renown for its burst shot. As for the RAW editor, I use Olympus Master just because all I do is change the EV compensation of the single RAW and yes, It does make a huge difference as opposed to not making an HDR in the first place.

I do agree that it is possible, but in the situation that I was in shooting pictures of birds, a single RAW HDR seemed like the most logical decision. How about not critiquing me on the method I used to make the shot, just the shot itself, k?

Way to be mature.
>> heavyweather !4AIf7oXcbA
Way too loose. Crop in, move in, or get a longer lens.
>> Anonymous
>>132215

I would love to be able to afford a nicer lense, but being 17 and working at a grocery store doesn't really provide that kind of money. Also, moving in on birds, is not easy, in the slightest.

Then resign yourself to shitty photos like this one. Sorry, thems the breaks with wildlife photography.
