Technically sound photo with good color reproduction and use of lines to bring attention to the flowers, instead of decreasing the DOF. There's good balance across the photo.

But with all that said, it's a goddamn flower. We see too many of these in /p/ already. Technique is only half of what it takes to be a good photographer. Composition is the other. Unless you're a photojournalist, you should try to make your photos more interesting and perhaps convey a message...

Flowers, Grass Grow from Earth

Sunday, June 10, 2007
A series of small, garden variety organisms of apparent origin in the biological kindom of Plantae have erupted from the earth at an unspecified location. These organisms, commonly known as 'plants', include both flowering and nonflowering varieties.

The plants pose no apparent threat, according to locals. "Jefe say to put flower here, so I put flower here," said Eduardo Ortiz, the individual responsible for the eruption of the plants in question. "No esta la migra," he added, addressing his associates.

The flowering plants are apparently used as an aesthetic enhancement to many homes and businesses in the area. Many flowers, like the one pictured here, reflect a series of wavelengths of sunlight, that, when viewed by the human eye, are collectively found to be pleasing.

Multiple additional instances of flower eruption are suspected to have been occurring in the area as well.

i didn't mean to imply that his criticism wasn't good. it's just that i'm working on becoming a full time photojournalist and i don't like the work being talked smack on. it's not as artistic as, well, artistic photography to be sure but it's just as intricate and MUCH more demanding. the events you're covering don't just slow down for you to shoot them, and you've got a responsibility to capture the essence of the action as communicateively as possible.

what i meant by poking fun is to assert that photojournalists have EXTRA need to be interesting and convey messages in their work. because if this picture was photojournalistically sound, then that would make for a boring ass story.
