Excuse the gearthread.

I'm looking to move up from my Pentax MZ-M and go into the realms of dSLRs. Now, in my price range (£180 or $320) I can see the used options of the EOS 300D, Pentax K100D, Pentax *ist D, Pentax K110D and an Olympus which I don't even want to entertain.

Do any of the Pentax options give me anything over the EOS other than the ability to keep on using my 135mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.8 manual lenses? Does the EOS offer me anything over the Pentaxes?

At your level, there is no major difference between going Pentax / Canon

You may want to consider at a later date though... what is it you would want if you stick at it and end up spending BIG money on your gear.... full frame? or better glass??

Canon for full frame

Pentax for better glass

And if you go pentax, dont go for the *ist, there is no point, you can pick up a K100D for next to nothing now, the *ist is lacking in several handy tools, for a very small price difrence

Considering your budget, it's unlikely you'll ever want to go full-frame.

I suggest a K100D, or a used K10D if you can afford it.
