SONY or CANON... again Anonymous
Hi /p/,

Simple question is simple.

Canon sx100is OR Sony Cybershot H3?

(My old Sony P200 still works great, but its case has started going, and i see some sensor smudge...)

I NEED PIXALS, GOOD COLORS, AND ZOOM.

Do you really, really need the zoom? Because it comes at the expense of image quality. That zoom range is in part thanks to a tiny, tiny sensor (1/2.5" on both cameras). Also, I've personally found that there are a lot of better picture opportunities at the wide end than the far tele end.

If you really have your heart set on one of these, I'd go with the canon. It's got a 36-360mm equiv zoom vs. the Sony's 38-380mm. The extra 2mm at the wide end are, I think, more useful than the 20 extra the Sony gives you of telephoto.

Also: The Canon has an f/2.8-4.3 lens while the Sony is f/3.5-4.4, which'll make the Sony a little worse in low light (and they both fail at high ISO)
