Hey guys.. I'm thinking about buying a camera.

My friend is an accomplished Photographer, and said the Camera looked alright, and he'd help me with it, lenses, ect.

I'd just like /p/'s opinion

I'm sorry, I forgot the name, make and model of it.

It's a Panasonic DMC-FZ7S

I would say its an ok camera for the type. Dont see how your friend is going to help with lenses as the camera has a fixed (non-removable) lens.

I don't want to get into that kind of shit but I will say that I have owned a Canon Powershot S3IS and had nothing but problems. Returned it and got my money back...then they took it off the site I bought it from. I guess I wasn't the only one.

another camera thread -___-

I have a DMC-FZ30 and Im highly satisfied with it, good zoom without switching lenses, etc. the only thing I dont like about the DMC series is that the pictures come out grainy at higher ISOs

that ones decent with its price, but I recommend you get an FZ30 or an FZ50

I was looking at the Lumix at the time when I bought my Canon S2 because it had one more megapixel. But a couple reviews I read said it took really noisy pictures. Decided to try it out in a store for myself and I wasn't happy with the image quality. Also, it felt kinda cheap, I dunno, hard to explain. <Shrug> Anyhow, went with the S2 and have been happy with it since. If you're in the market for this kinda camera, the S3 would be good IMHO.

Side note, S2 and S3 do have "lenses" in a manner of speaking. Search for accessories.
