If you're just taking pictures of things like the skyline, where you can stand to stick it on a tripod, you should be fine with this. However, you might want to note: 1. It doesn't appear to have full manual modes based on the picture (although it might just have them in a different spot from most Canon compacts), just "scene" modes. If you're going to be trying for anything other than point-and-shoot, you'll probably want Av/Tv/M modes. 2. It's optomized for small size. Which means it might (although, again, I may be talking out my ass here) have left out some nice features that you might otherwise want. Or it might just be more expensive with no other features. So, how important is its size to you?
I don't see any obvious features (aside from size) that might make it better than, say, the A630 (which would be my personal recommendation), and the A630 is cheaper and has a nicer LCD, and I've taken some really good night shots with my A95 (precursor to the a6x0 line).
If you're going to be taking night shots, budget for a tripod, too. Doesn't need to be a good one for a camera this small.
