Remember to photograph something that appeals to you, both in subject or composition. Don't always center your photographs, play with the exposure, and remember to keep a good depth of field. In terms of Macro, macro is getting in as close to something as possible, kinda like the middle of a flower, or a very tiny butterfly that when you look at the picture itself, it seems to be very, very large.
