There is a time and a place for HDR. The time is never, and the place is nowhere.

People just can't get HDR photos purpose

The purpose of HDR as far as I can tell is to annoy the fuck out of me.

when it is used like this, HDR is really good.

Notice how the mountain is still kind of dark, but you can still make out details.. thats what real human vision is like..

now the others that are bright as fuck eveyrwhere with uglyass skies, etc.. those suck ass

1. Granted most of the pics there are kinda ugly and unnatural, but I think this one with the wagon and some others are really nice to look at. Why do you people hate HDR so much?

2. I thought HDR wasn't possible with moving objects in the frame because multiple exposures are required at different EV settings? Then how are the HDR images with the birds, etc. done?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

I quite like OP photo tbh, its slightly over done but the effect is nice and warm++ instead of the usual mess of colours that HDR is.

The best HDR (like ever other effect) is when you dont notice it.

Shoot in raw, raw allows exposure tweaking of some level without destorying IQ much.

Obvious shoop is obvious.

The real purpose of HDR is to expand the tonal range of images so that they become more convincing and appealing.

holy fuck OP is dogshit ugly.. jesus.

IMHO, HDR should not be overdone, it was supposed to make a picture more realistic as in "what our eyes can see". Doing anything more give fake images.

But in these days, people enjoy seeing fake stuff or their own shop photos.

The best HDR ever is when you -notice- that it's a really nicely, maybe too nicely, exposed photograph.

whats more annoying is thinking that your eyes are using too much DR.

There's two ways of doing hdr, realistic and not realistic.

It's pretty obvious what the advantages of each are.

When you go overboard and take artistic liberties you lose the realism but it doesn't mean the picture will look shit, it's just a deviation from straight photography is all.

I think it's fucking lame arguing over it, there's no reason that both methods cant co exist.
