Sure it does. On an APS-C sized sensor, to have the two people fully in frame, I would say the lens would have to be 50mm or less, many manufacturers of which make them 2 inches long or shorter.

At that distance? On FF, I would use a 135 to fill the frame with those two, which I assume he is doing unless he wants that bigass bar in their faces. On a 1.6x crop, that's an 85—which should still protrude at least a _little_ bit.

He only looks about six meters away. I know that a 1.5m by 1m object would just about completely fill my 50mm (75mm) frame at 6m away.

I would guess that he is using a 50mm lens, and wants to get both models entirely in the shot as well as some of the surrounding.

looks like about the right distance for that.
