I've been doing research for weeks. the powershot sd750 is one of the top three. The other is sd1000 and sd850. The only few bad things about the sd750 is that:
1) it doesn't have an optical viewfinder so you've to rely on the lcd screen which drains the batteries.
2) the picture quality might not be perfect, you might notice some noise or blurriness when it's up to iso 6. But hey you get what you pay for.
3) the button on top is located in a weird location that you have to get use to.
4) you MIGHT encounter the dreaded lens error. When that happens the lens doesn't go back in and your camera becomes essentially useless.
the sd750 is ranked as the best ultracompact camera on cnet and third best selling on amazon.com. Most people have no problems with it except for the lower quality pictures. But the thing is, if you want something better like 4x optical zoom or 8.0 mp or optical stabilizer you're have to dish out around $250. So, assuming the sd750 doesn't encounter the lens error after you buy it you're getting a really decent deal.
Good luck.
