op here, im actually using gimp now.
but people have been egging me on to get adobe.
i mean, in fine with gimp with the work im doing now, but some references for the future would be good.

I regularly use Capture One 4 and The GIMP or Photoshop, depending on what computer I'm on.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>136586
Eh. Fuck 'em. GIMP's fine unless you work for a magazine.

Especially if you are compiling from the latest distro.
>> Anonymous
I use the GIMP.
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
CS2 or a traditional darkroom

Depends on how long I have for the assignments and what I'm shooting.
>> Anonymous
I like CS2. Was thinking about just going with GIMP when I eventually get a new computer though, is there really much difference between the two?
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY

fukken blender... yes to 2D... but yes i dont do much serious 2D stuff... (and yes when doing quick fix to some scematics of electric devices... i have used gimp... to avoid capping and cutting and stuff to change some one letter being displaced from image i put with some text... ENGLIRS strike)

gimp's got a terrible gui, terrible workflow. terrible selection tools, etc.

but once you get it working, it does nearly everything that you need it to do. plus, it's open source, and it's an insanely small download. good things happen when you support open source software.

hmm, I likes me the CS2 interface. I guess I'll just stick to that for the time being.

WTFs your problem with CS2? Is there anything in CS3 that makes it vastly superior?
>> Anonymous
not really. the new black and white thing is really the only reason i downloaded it. like the modular layers and history palette thing and the thinner toolbar and if i used alot of filters id like the nondestructive filters.
like i said i wouldnt buy it.

ac says the truth, if you're a Linux user or you're cheap at the moment, get Gimp + ufraw.
