Like, like, Though the other 2 shots of the first girl make her face look well... kinda scary.

I like the processing and exposure, I think the composition is even great, but these girls seem to be difficult to make look "perfect"

>>291548
This one not soo much, she looks unflattering and the light is not helping her facial features.

Overall props, just a little fine tuning of the models / angles, and I think these would be fantastic.

I FINALLY WORKED OUT WHAT IS GOING ON

you kidnap the models and hold them at gunpoint!!!!!

FINALLY a good explanation about why they all look SO PAINED TO BE THERE.

i hate your work DC, but at least you goddamn try, so that means i dont hate YOU, just your work, dont forget that.

Yeah actually DC, your models do not look comfortable.
Other than that, I like your work. Neat post-processing too.

>looking at the pictures I was taking months ago and coming to /p/, these are a million times better

No, these suck compared to the stuff you posted the first month or so you were on /p/. Those were interesting. These are just generic model shots, completely interchangeable with twenty million other ones except for the way you've post-processed them. Generic pictures of pretty people are no more interesting than generic pictures of pretty flowers, fields, pets, etc.

Better processed? Yes, but not because you stopped burning the corners. That was fine. Better composed? Maybe, I'm not sure, but definitely less creatively composed. Better? Not at all.

>>291985
TLRs are win, though, and I like the conceit of shooting someone through a TLR. Go more creative like these, except do it less obviously gimmicky.

I don't like the third one; the angles are jarring and it loses whatever weird sense of playfulness or whatever the other two have.

Nice models, bro

>>292061
It was a general thing; I actually like this one. Colors are almost like a fresco, and the picture comes out of, well, a real interaction between you and the subject. That's what's missing from a lot of your more recent work, and what was there in the first two TLR shots. Vincent was getting at this, I think, when he said that shot and the other one he mentioned (composition is too meh for my taste) were "sincere." What made you one of the better photographers on /p/ for a while is that you were actually being really creative, not just in the sense of doing stuff in uncontrived or reflexive ways but in having real emotion in your photographs, as opposed to just mechanistically taking pictures, however well.

What was the gist of the beach crit? I'm just curious if I did or not.
>> Depressed Cheesecake !wFh1Fw9wBU

basically what you just said. there needs to be interaction between the subject and the photographer. I just really tense up when I'm shooting. not nervous, just kind of a silent meditation. I need to break out of it.

Yeah, that probably was me then.

Your early stuff, you weren't shooting models, you were shooting people you knew and knew well, generally (it seemed at least) just in the course of life. Maybe try going back to that, to get that not-tenseness and interaction back?

Though I can't say I blame you with /p/ flaming the shit out of them for no goddamn reason.

Alright, let's see... I'm not really in the mood to really put a lot of effort into this tonight, but I'll try to give you as much constructive criticism as I can. Looks like a lot of fun with a reflector, did you just start using one?

>>291539
Not bad, but a little too much headroom for my taste. Fairly standard.

>>291540
A lot of empty space and focus on the blown out, contrasty background. I prefer more attention on the subject.

>>291542
Again, I don't like the composition. Maybe it's just me. A little too much exposure on her face. You might be able to fix that by spot metering it (and quit fucking shooting in pattern mode, I tell you this all the time).

>>291543
Just personal taste, but I've never found the "shooting into the light to get that weird bleed kind of look" all that attractive. Doesn't mean it's not right, just me. It looks like this is an awkward angle for your model. You've gotta keep your eyes open for this kind of detail.

>>291545
Lol, whoops. Nothing more needed to say here. Gotta watch the direction of light from that reflector.

>>291548
You really blew her face out. Once again, try metering on her face (esp with a reflector).

>>291982
The composition actually works here. Know why? Because your model's looking into the center of the frame. It's a basic guideline of layout and composition, don't have your subject pointing off frame/page. It's a biggie, so keep it in mind. THIS is where you want to use your reflector. Some of the other poses, not so much (but I know you just wanted to play with it a bit).

>>291985
>>291993
>>291997
Meh. Esp don't like the first one where you really can't see the subject. Just... Meh.

>>292003
>>292004
First one's better since her face is clearer, but you shouldn't have cut off the camera. Second one's pose is interesting, so is the borkeh. That's about it.
>> SrsCritiqueFag !2y1il5Qy0g
(con't)

>>292035
No, that's me. I decided to randomly tripfag when I critique so others can understand that when I say something it's just because it's my personal opinion, but I only post my stuff as anonymous to avoid getting "shitsux" just because I tripfag'd. Get the sunglasses outta the shot. I understand you were probably just screwing around and being candid, but still.

>>292064
Better than the one before it. Great detail on her face and I do love the background. I think this is my favorite.

>>292074
No face = boring. Like every other guideline in photography, it can be broken but is typically true.

>>292077
See above.

>>292115
Again, meh.

Alright, maybe not as detailed as usual, but it's late. Your post-processing has improved a FUCKING SHIT-TON. Just take a look at what you were doing before and now, seriously. Now just focus more on composition. I know you might feel like you're above it, but really just read some of the basic rules and guidelines. It might be a good refresher.
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
It's late, so i'll just do something quick tonight, but stop leaving so much space above their heads! :P
