Got a question for you, what type of backgrounds/backdrops do you normally use? What are they made of? Did you construct them yourselves, if so, how?

DIY muslins are easy to make. There are guides online to make them. Technically, it's just a giant tie dye shirt. However, a good quality perfectly black muslin has no substitute. I used a large sheet of velour once. It was annoying since it wasn't taut so the lighting wasn't uniform against it.

When I started out, I did this:

They both look the same in the final photo, but people take you a little more seriously and are more willing to spend money when you have wood mounted canvas backdrops.
