So I've come to my parents for thanksgiving (canadian) and I've discovered that a lens I bought off ebay was delivered here instead of my new place. I have my camera with me, but the battery is dead because of a shoot I did for a band last night, and I left the charger at home. I really want to mess around with my new lens and I've been meaning to get a new battery, but I'm a little confused. According to the site of the camera store I usually go to, the battery costs about $90. But then it's also being sold on other sites/ebay for 15-20 bucks. Are those batteries worse quality or something? Are they just a different brand? What's the deal?

you probably want to stick to a major brand... also these sites cold very well just be rip off sites.

you need batteries to look through a lens?

generic NB-2L batteries have never given me any problems (pretty sure that's what's in the pic)

What, mine is just out of focus (off = infninity focus) other than that it works fine. SLR?

Anyway for some batts you dont need anything but a bunch of cells inside to charge, but if your battery has any sort of metering etc then often the 3rd party knockoff ones dont work.

Like my sony!

$90 is a bit much, I got one for around $50, I left my charger at home when I went on vacation by accident and had to pay about 100 dollars for a new charger and a new battery, fucking sucked.

Buy your batteries at Sterlingtek. Paying more than $20 for a battery is idiocy.
