Not really a landscape, but that's pretty cool.

28mm plus what?
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ

28mm plus 35mm camera.
>> Anonymous
Looks like paper cutouts of people on a tackboard. If so, that would explain how one could achieve the extremely odd DOF for a 35mm camera. Though you'd probably need an extension tube or bellows since there aren't many 28mm lenses that would focus closely enough to do this.

>>149110
The person pointing gives away your dirty secret with the paper.

However, this has to be one of the coolest things i've seen in a while.
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ
>>149118

I can tell you confidently that an extension tube or bellows was not necessary for this shot, as I used neither. My 28mm lens allows me to focus at just under a foot distance (at the closest). I was not aware that this was strange.

For reference, I suppose, the people cutouts are around 3 inches tall.

what exactly is this?

i like it
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ
>>149127

It's the middle frame in a bloated sequence of 5 meant to convey the clichéd notion that people are oblivious to their surroundings. Essentially the two-headed bear sinks into the ground and no one but the kid notices, then all the people sink as well. (Or, with some rearranging, its the beginning of a monster movie with the creature emerging from an indiscernible surface.)

Technically, it's a bunch of cutouts mounted to paperclips on top of the rough side of whatever that compressed fiberboard that pegboards are cut from is called. The giant two-headed bear is a printout of a picture of a 3d paper model I made.

2nd half was what i was lookin for lol

Great work.

ah. they're cutouts. okay.

i don't like that you used a few of the same cutouts for a crowd of people. the background is hard to read at anything but thumbnail sizes. i don't like that you can see the straws holding them up (though it's funny that i didn't see them before).

but otherwise, yeah. terrific. good to see real talent on /p/ these days.
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ
>>149199

Well, most of those points are things that I did for a reason, but ultimately didn't read how I wanted them to. I kinda wanted that whole "all people are alike omg!!11@! clonez!!!2!" deal for the crowd, but there are definitely much better ways to accomplish that than this. Of the visible mounts, that was supposed to make it obvious that they were cutouts, that "people are fake", but I'm thinking that's kinda heavy handed and dumb (not to mention the fact that you can tell they're cutouts, especially with the sloppy cutting around The Pointer).

>>the background is hard to read at anything but thumbnail sizes.
do you mean the horizon line is too vague?
>> M/A !n21TE7QU8U
>>149223
No, at full-size its just too hard to see it's a two-headed bear.
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ
>>149227
Oy, gotcha. Printed 8x10 it seems pretty readable--from a reasonable viewing distance (3-4ish feet).

Also, the background figure is a bit clearer in this preceding frame, but the shot looks even junkier (which is why I hadn't posted it).

i really like it but to me pictures with overly symbolic meanings are kind of cheesy? im more of a see the beauty not interpret the meaning guy i guess.

>>149241
this may not be the origami board but i want to know how to make that bear!
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ
>>149246
I get where you're coming from. Art school has trained me to validate my work with bullshit phrasing. I essentially thought it'd be kinda cool for an inexplicably large, inexplicably two-headed bear thing to sink into the ground. In my photo class critique, I championed "global warming" as the central idea of the sequence.

bull. shit.

I don't remember how I did it, but when all else fails, scotch tape.

LOL that explanation is genius, its just "deep enough" to fool people into thinking you are legit, and when you apply it to that picture you can actually see it and go
"OH yes... I knew thats what you meant, I was just pondering the existance of the pegs holding people up from the ground, Some sort of reference to modern pharmaceuticals?"

yea..that's fucking weird. i just posted that pic in the thread about graffiti. >>149278

it simultaneously appeared here.

this is the best shot, the rest are rather redundant compared to this.
but man... i fucking love it
it's so surreal looking
the only thing i'd remove in post processing (or beforehand) are the things holding them upright.
b/w is very suitable here.. the idea is so insanely original
you win

So that's all of them from the sequence, plus an alternate for the last one. And here's another shot from that session, somewhat unrelated.

Not redundant. Series. Look at the filenames, load 'em up in tabs, and look at 'em in order. It's better as the set.
>> hal9000 !a4fa8BKGtQ
>>149312
tabs, thats a great idea. scrollwheeling through them quickly makes me wish I had about 15 more frames and Yakety Sax playing in the background.
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
>>149312
ahh yes, i see now..
still i like the first standalone photo more than the series together.
