Great shot. Would be better if you were on the other side so you could see their faces, though.

I love the graininess of the shot, but I would have loved it 10 times more with out the distracting child in the bottom left corner.

looks like you might of cropped this narrow

If you did, and from the right side, don't crop it. The girl is crowded by the closeness of the frame.

Otherwise I like it.

We're middle aged pretentious jackasses?

I started to shoop her out, but I got tired of it and perma-immortalized the photo instead.

FUCKIN' ART!

You like it? I'm elated.

You aren't *inherently* middle aged pretentious jackasses, but definitely under an insurgence by them.

It is heavily enlarged and cropped - only about 40% of the negative is shown. The other elements are distracting and without merit.
I thought the girl offered a nice contrast. Also there is a triangle pattern in the placement figures [though one could say that about ANY three figures, lol].
I'll print a full size and scan on monday.

This ruined the shot. Before it was a great picture, not it looks 100% suitable to be stuck as a "bumper sticker" on a fifteen year old girl's Facebook. 'Grats.

I'm not against editing like this when it improves the photograph, but real life usually works better than shooping in photographs. The girl added a highlight, balanced the frame both horizontally and in terms of the foreground and background, and added a bit of interest to it, so it wasn't just "OH HAI WE'RE CLASSIC AND SWINGING PUT ME ON YOUR FACEBOOK." Because that's really what it looks like without the girl.

Don't believe me? Pic related, taken off a Facebook sticker application.

I know you hate beethys PS skills but try to keep the teen angst to yourself when the grownups are talking.

rofl, didn't you get the memo, beethy is the true photoshop master

there was a thread about how "good" a stock photo watermark was

beethy came in and said it was impossible to remove it

i did and said it was a trivial matter for any asshat

he said oh well, that's still good i guess lol

fucking faggot, enjoy your photoshop

No, I've never bitched at Beethy PSing before, except once when he fouled up another picture. It works well for a lot of his own work.

And it's not "teen angst." I'm not some underage B& type and that's seriously the first thing it reminded me of: those silly, bland faux-iconic pictures people throw up on their MySpaces, Facebooks, etc.

I don't want to stir up something.

But why is it that when someone posts a B&W film picture, it receives praise and is well accepted.

And when someone posts a B&W picture from a digital camera, everyone goes LOL INSTANT ARTFAG or BORING SUBJECT!

Sure, most of the time it is a boring subject, parking lot, tree, close up of an object. But sometimes it's great.

Am I expecting too much of anons?

For the record, I don't like the picture at all.

The shadow from the other tree ruins it.

You're leaving out a detail: People shooting B&W film are more likely to be competent photographers, since it requires a bit more skill and dedication. So a higher percentage of B&W film shots are going to actually be good, and a higher percentage of digital B&W conversions are going to be by people who just got their D40 and think that the Desaturate command makes it instantly art.

For sure, there are people who post shitty B&W film shots, and they get mocked. And there are people who post good B&W digital shots, and they get praised. And vice versa to both of those, because people are jerks. But the fact remains that good B&W film is more likely than good B&W digital.

You could've just said /p/ is for trolls.

It also depends quite a deal on /p/'s mood at the time it's posted. I've seen shitty shots of all sorts get praised and good ones get troilled the hell out and/or ignored.

But /p/ does have a general bias against digital black-and-white, though. All other things being equal, a mediocre but decent color shot and a mediocre but decent film black and white shot will get a few encouraging comments or at least not get flamed, whereas digital black and white has to actually be legitimately good to not get flamed.

10/03/08 When regular clone tool just isn't enough: New Clone tooling "catastrophically erases the target."

A man who clone tooled one person while trying to improve the picture has been told he faces up to ten years in jail.

Prosecutors said he had erased 1 girl before saving the picture containing musicians Michael Dahlquist,39, John Glick,35.

The impact of the photoshop was so fierce the photo ended up receiving much hate.
