Overcautious people will tell you this is a stupid idea but you can just used canned air as long as you make absolutely sure you're spraying the can upright (put the can on a table so you don't accidentally tip it).

compressed air works great. there can't be any reason why they would market a dildo blower when good old canned air will do the trick just fine.

This post is being sarcastic, OP.

It shouldn't be. It really is fine to use canned air. I do it all the time. A rocket blower is better because there is much less of a chance of contaminates though.

DON'T USE AIR ON SENSORS!

Go to your local camera store, buy a cleaning kit for ~$25 and do a pro job on your sensor.

get a really, really good quality paintbrush. kolinsky sable hair is best, and the only option. there are a few other natural bristle brushes, but sable's usually the way to go. manufacturer doesn't matter, though winsor newton is very common and top quality.

Canned air is at a lower temperature and might damage your sensor.

Compressed air can introduced temperature differences and is also at a REALLY high velocity.

The plastic handheld cleaners don't guarantee you don't have a piece of dust inside that will be propelled at your sensor when you use it.

Air squirter things are ok if you dont have that much crap on your sensor, if you have a decent buildup of real shit then you will need the liquid cleaning stuff. For periodic cleaning a blower works fine.

Which reminds me, anyone know what "mirror lock up" is in japanese so I can clean my sensor?

Wait, are all the controls on Alphails in Japanese?

Can't you switch the menu language?

being his biggest fan, i can tell you that butterfly got the infamous A100 in some giant junk heap camera thrift shop on the giant junk heap island of japan. (s)he then proceeded to wander around tokyo, looking as winsome and as johannson as a weeaboo who loves lost in translation possibly can. if butterfly had only been a beautiful girl and not a guy, it would have been a perfect movie moment. instead, it was just sad.

That would probably make more sense if i'd ever seen the film.

I have a japanese only non export model A100 picked up from Yodobashi camera in Shinjuku for a lot less than one in the UK cost. Downside = no int warranty and its all in moonspeak. Fine for the most part as most of its in english or i know what it means.

Staying on topic, does anyone use the magnifying kits that let you look directly at the sensor and clean stuff off? I've seen them for 100gbp+ and always thought what a rip off.

a100 fag here

hit menu
go over 5 (to the wrench icon which should be yellow)
Select it
Go over to the 3rd menu option
Go down 5
select
When the alert comes up, press left to get to "ok."

i guess il try to get to a camera store and get a sensor cleaning kit and do a little research as well and i think i have something that will suffice as a blower for now so il try that.
