Lemme see your c-strap.

I need a c-strap, I'd like to see what it looks like on one of the mid-ranged-pro canons with a battery pack on it. The 450/XSi in particular.

That looks like a full-fleged neck strap. I'm asking about those ones that go just around your hand. They fit sorta like a glove. Is there another term for that?

I just wanna see what it'll look like on one that looks similar to mine. before I run out and get it.

how does that help? the shoulder mount is superior sounding

I found, today, that the neck-strap got in the way while trying to keep it on and rotating the camera. a c-strap would be a conditional nice to have I think. I just remember getting one being a suggestion and wanted to look at the aesthetics before grabbing one.

I use the neck strap, but with a few alterations:
- Both ends of the strap attached at the right side of the camera (bottom right w/ battery grip).
- strap goes around right bicep, is cinched to a reasonable tightness
- strap runs along upper side of forearm to camera

This lets me hold the camera with the strap totally out of the way, keeps the camera from falling, lets me rest my hand and I'm surprised more people don't do this (or something similar).

Sorry but no...

I have used hand straps, and yes, i do like them, allot. but for anyone but a holiday snapper or those "soccer moms" as you yanks call them.

This is how my first day with it went:

"gee, this new hand strap is awesome, why haven't i used these before"

*several minuets of shooting later i spot a man in a white suit*

"His going to pass that tramp dressed all in black, this will make a good shot! now to change my lens quickly...."

Get the point?

Yes there handy (no pun intended), but if your anywhere that isnt clean, or your in a rush, you cannot change lens well! without risking the inside of your slr's and lens to dust and so on....

The list of problems go on... for anything where you will need your hands, these things fucking fail. the strap goes on your sholder, its how it should be!

I fucking hate my strap. Sure it's comfy, I can rest my camera when I'm not using it... but I hate the thing.

I was fishing through my bag when it got caught on one of my fingers and the strange physics in the moment propelled my week old Evolt 510 along with a great lens through the room and onto the marble floor.

Thankfully, the body is ok.

I need a new lens.

I have the official Canon hand strap on my 40D and you can use it along with the neck strap. As has been mentioned, the hand strap is great until you want to change lenses, memory cards or anything else. It's very comfortable and I used it all day yesterday for 800+ shots without getting that achy neck/shoulder from the neck strap. Use them both.

So, judging by your photos, this shit is terrible and doesn't work.

I'm actually just using a thin black (elasticcloth+metalclip) hair band that was tightened appropriately using an ultrathin black rubber elastic hair band.

I'll probably switch to a solid clip of some time eventually, but I can't be bothered so far.

Within 6 months I will release a new strap onto the market that's been in development for 2+ years already that will beat the shit out of the upstrap. Seriously - shit will look old.

I know this will be seen as a troll, but it *is* legit. This is genius anon posting while drunk trying not to expose trade secrets he knows are fucking awesome.

I use Domke Gripper straps, the 1" size for smaller bodies and the 1.5" strap for heavier ones. They're extremely simple, light, and effective. One of the things I like most is that they are made of thin, soft material so unlike straps that are fairly stiff and/or bulky, I can just wrap it around my wrist and it actually stays there. I mostly use it as a wrist strap to catch the camera if I happen to drop it, but if I hang it around my neck to change lenses or film. They have two grip lines woven in just like the straps on Domke bags, so they tend to stay put very well too.

I've tried just about every camera strap on the market and haven't found anything I like half as much as the Domke straps. Everything else, particularly most other "high quality" straps like Op-Tech and Up-Strap are way too bulky in my opinion.
