i was merely asking what people thought i should get, not some smart ass remark.

since you probably dont know much about this camera that doesnt exist yet i would go with the computer, that is if you are already happy with your current camera.

>>157208
i'm not happy with the laptop, or camera.

piece of shit HP laptop. and a rebel XT, which i've long surpassed, and am in need of a good one. But again, i do need the mac for all of the software. ugh. and can't afford both at once

Why do you think we would care? Seriously?? Do you think we exist solely to be your purchasing advisors? "Oh shit guys, someone is asking us what they should spend their money on! What luck! Let me answer him this time!!" Is that how you think it is? Well fuck you and your fucking smug sense of self you piece of shit, I hope you get audited.

Macbook first.
Camera second.

By the time you get really familiar with what the Macbook can do you'll probably be able to get a new camera. Also better photo editing capabilities will help you get better result with you current camera and that should keep you happy for at least a little while.

Camera first
Macbook second

There's nothing really important you can do with a Mac that you can't do with your crappy old HP. Slower, yeah, but still doable. I've got a crappy old PIII/600MHz laptop that I occasionally do my editing on. Slow as hell, but still works.

I for one shoot much more than I postprocess.

Negatory, computer first, then the body. A good computer is a better editing station, meaning you spend less time doing it, and more time shooting, or more time relaxing, etc etc. If you already have a decent dSLR, just hold your horses, and rock the new computer. Any of the pro Macs are fucking awesome. I'm watching Barry Lyndon on one 20" screen while editing photos in Lightroom on another. I used to want to shoot myself when I was editing on a slow machine.

I still don't understand why people have to have macs to work on anything out of the adobe suite. I'm on a macpro right now at school, theres absolutely nothing I can do here that I can't do at home. I frequently save my half finished homework on a flash drive, take it home, and finish it in the comfort of my room. I so miss right clicking when I'm at school tho.

Good choice on the MacBook Pro.

It has faster RAM for faster processing and the video card lets you use Photoshop at very high resolutions.

Faster than a MacBook on all points.

the macbook pro will get you more girls, brah

Hah, I'm actually in the same pickle as OP. Wait for the new MacBooks and wait for the new 5D, then decide which is better. The Mark II is supposed to be announced April 22nd.

Funny troll, too bad you don't understand how computers work.

Overall 1/10

So you still think a MacBook Pro is faster than a MacBook for Photoshop?

Are you serious?

Macs eliminate the hassle and unique frustrations of Windows. All else being equal, hardware-wise, I'd rather use Mac OS than Windows. That may come from using Apple software since OS 6 on a Mac IIsi, or just from the current excellence of OS X, but either way, Macs give me a peace of mind that I don't enjoy on XP or Vista especially (and I've got XP installed on my iMac, so I'm good for the occasional TF2 I play.

Yes, you stupid fuck. Better heat dissipation, no shared video memory, dedicated graphics card, faster processor, higher screen resolution, faster hard drive.

Really? OS 9 was only barely tolerable for me, anything before that is marked in my memory simply by the bomb icon and error: 1023 or whatever it was that came up every 15 mins i tried to do anything on the computer. OS X however is epic win over Windows which is why I'm typing this on a MacBook.

Or you could buy a kickass second hand pc from a gamer who needs to spend $3000 on a new rig every half year. It would be much faster than a macbook pro...unless you want portability.

>>157297Yes, you stupid fuck. Better heat dissipation, no shared video memory, dedicated graphics card, faster processor, higher screen resolution, faster hard drive.

Oh, wow and you're the one to tell me to learn about technology?

I love how you changed your original argument of "a MacBook Pro has 800 MHz RAM and is faster" to these new ones.

But let's do it still because I'm like that.

>> Better heat dissipation

I will admit metal dissipates heat better than plastic. But if the aluminum case actually _increased_ performance in any significant matter, Steve Jobs would have been the first to say so in his keynotes. Until then, it's for aesthetics.

>> no shared video memory, dedicated graphics card

Shared memory takes a grand total of 64 MB from the system. Whoop-de-doo. And once again, Photoshop has _no use_ for a video card. It _does not_ make anything faster in Photoshop.

>> faster processor

Penryn vs. Merom = 7-15% more battery life, actual performance is equal. But it's worth mentioning Merom is actually faster than Penryn by a _hair_ in Photoshop.

>> higher screen resolution

It's arguable how a larger screen makes a person faster but hey, the MacBook Pro has to have something more for the money, am I right?

>> faster hard drive.

I have yet to see any real proof where a 7200 drive flat outs bitchslaps a 5400 one. Feel free to prove me wrong on this point.
>> Anonymous
>>157319
Because screen resolution is totally irrelevant when it comes to image editing, amirite?
>> Anonymous
>>157336

Pure performance? Doesn't do a damn thing.

But read: "It's arguable how a larger screen makes a person faster"

Some people work better with only one image and toggling windows through Exposé or CMD+Tabbing. Some prefer having multiple windows open in one screen.

"It's arguable" and it _is_ one of the things the MacBook Pro offers that the MacBook simply doesn't have.

Meh, I've been using apples since the IIE(lol vector art). And win machines since 3.11, stiil don't know what all the fuss with windows is over. All my windows boxes have run like champs until I let my parents have my old boxes.
