old quantaray lenses Anonymous
So while searching around our attic I found 3 old lenses. They are black solid metal and in basically new condition since my grandparents never used them, so I don't want to throw them out. The parts move smoothly and everything seems functionally fine.

They are all QUANTARAY, and this is what they say on them:

1. Quantaray SC, f=28mm, 1:2.8, No.100052.

2. Quantaray AUTO ZOOM, 80-200mm, 1:3.8, MACRO, 58theta, No. 821149, MC.

3. Quantaray AUTO ZOOM, 85-210mm, F:3.8, MACRO, 58theta, No. 066187G, MC

(kind of strange that theres an 80-200 and an 85-210)

i know they are meant for a 35mm film SLR camera. Does anyone know how much they are worth (if anything). Would their quality have decreased if they've been exposed to heat up in the attic for a few years?

Is it possible to use these with a pentax DSLR or other DSLR using the M42 adaptor or something like that? (and if so, would i want to? are they any good?)

The "MC" makes me think these might be Minolta manual-focus lenses, but I'm not actually sure. If you weren't such a dumbass and had given us a picture of the lenses instead of a soon-to-be-deleted-by-a-janitor picture of Bob Barker, maybe I could help you out.

If so, you're pretty much SOL for mounting them on any DSLR other than Four Thirds.

uhh, doesnt the MC stand for Multicoated?

Very possibly. It's also a designation (along with MD) given to the Minolta manual-focus mount.

Yours is probably the right one, though.

okay well since I don't have a camera i can't take an exact picture of the lenses but heres what I found on the internets

the attached picture is what the SC 28mm looks like, but mine isnt missing the outer part of the focus ring thing.

this is what lens #2 looks like: http://www.pawnplex.com/Cameras/2006/MC80-200/index.html

lens #3 looks like the lens here (on the bottom right): http://byungjik.tistory.com/83

Also, i just checked on the BOTTOM of the lenses and lens #2 says "M/MD" on the bottom. The other 2 lenses do not. So it would seem lens #2 is for a minolta.

If it makes any difference:

Lens #2, the one that says "M/MD", has the letter "M" in the center of cap that goes on the mount-end. It's mount is the same as the 28mm lens #1.

But lens #2 has the letter "P" on the center of the mount-cap. And it's mount is definitely different from the other lenses. According to google there is no "P-mount" but the search results suggest it could be a pentax lens. given that its placed next to the pentax k10d on that byungjik.tistory link i just posted that makes me more optimistic.

how do i check if it could work on a modern pentax dslr?

Without pictures, we're going to be pretty unhelpful. Go find a real world 2nd hand store and have a chat, should be much more useful.
