Okay /p/ Moment of truth, I need a collective decision.

Today at about 4pm EST I am going to buy a point and shoot Camera, I do not plan on spending more than 250 on said device (excluding tax).

I am not a professional photographer, although I do consider myself skilled. I generally photograph the sky, cityscapes and urban development, along with the casual hanging out with friends and such, I also do fancy myself a good abandoned structure along with night shots and industrial factories. Now, I am looking for something with ease of use, preferable manual settings (ISO, aperature, compact-ness, and sturdy construction.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Canon PowerShot SD750, correct me if this is a bad decision.

Note, Image is my last camera, a sub-par mediocre-at-best point and shoot. Recently deceased. Sony Cybershot W-70. I'm looking for something mucho better.

THANK YOU /p/ <3

SD series is great, but no manual control. Get Canon A570IS.

Canon Powershot Sd1000 or any other powershot

I have the Canon PowerShot SD750, it's a nice camera for point and shoot. And very portable.

For the manual settings, it doesn't really offer a whole lot though, mainly, ISO and white balance...

You might not like to hear this, but if you're serious at all about photography, even as a hobby, i's a worthy investment to buy a DSLR, even a really cheap one, and just taking the time to learn all the manual settings, etc. Your pictures will end up better, trust.

I appreciate all the help guys, I think I'll go mess around in it with stores more, and if I like it for the most part, I'll get it. For the most part I'm sure it will be fine for what I'm going to use it for. And if I further decide to go through with more in depth photography I'll just keep working the way I am and I'm sure by a couple of months I'll have enough saved up to put more into a camera.

Anyways! Thanks for all the imput! I'll prolly add more when I get back from the store.

I currently have the canon powershot sd750 also, but I've become fed up with it. It's not taking consistant quality photos. Most will turn out blurry. I want a DSLR, but i dont think i can afford one above $600. I was looking at the Nikon D40 or D40x. Any suggestions (this pic is from the sd750, just took it 2 nights ago)?

Yea, so I just took an SD card to the store, took a bunch of test photos, came home, and looked at them on the computer, they where surprisingly bad... I was extremely disappointed, I loved everything about the physical aspect of it, so much to the point where I very upset that the pics blatantly sucked. They looked like there where fine photos, but even on the highest settings they where to artifacty... And I was hoping it was just the display model, but seeing that newest comment, I realize its not...

This is so disappointing. Now I need to start again.

I suggest the Canon SD model!
I have an SD450 but it's a little outdated I guess.
