Hey /p/, I'm pretty pissed right now.

Got myself a new computer a while ago and I've been transfering my pictures to a new hard drive. I use Lightroom for post production and this is where my problems begin. How do I transfer all my changes to the pictures without having a dysfunctional catalog system?

Here, have a monkey.

I think you should be able to copy the database file over along with your storage hierarchy and be fine.

You've still got them on the original computer, right? Just transfer it over, try it out, if it doesn't work out, delete and try again with a different methodology.

And with dysfunctional catalog system, I mean if I move the lightroom cataloge file (Lightroom Catalog.LRCAT)to my new drive, all the folders path get all messed up.

Ah, tricky. I guess you could export your entire library as RAW + XMP files, then import that lot and let Lightroom create a new database on the new drive?

And this is why we use Bridge and Photoshop.

Anything that tries to "catalog" stuff always messes up one way or another.

But it's a Adobe product. I'm not the first one to change the catalog structure, surely there must be some kind of way to get this right.

Adobe has the wonderful habit of making their software worse with each progressive version. Enjoy!
