Crop more - finger on bottom is distracting, maybe crop into her sleeve on the right too. The background with the books or whatever is too distracting to make it larger.

wow why do you keep rationalizing?

subaru didn't and made the changes with the 07 sti because fucks like me and sti owners a like talked shit about how they sucked ass in the 1/4 mile and how much it sucks ass daily driving or DRIVIGN AROUND A TRACK

A RALLY CAR HAS ANTI LAG GET SUPER SHORT GEARS THE FUCK OUR OF HERE AND SEQUENTIAL GEAR BOXES. THE FACT IS YOUR "RALLY" INSPIRED STI IS NOT A RALLY CAR FROM THE FACTORY.

Also i am the one who corrected the fucks about why the sti makes the engine grunt sounds with it's unqeual leangth headers.

I mean damn the sti fanboys here sure know jack shit about their own car they dream of.

so ya i know stis you don't

not a big fan of both shots since they kinda lack substance, meaning or emotion..

but, the crop on pic 1 is good.. pic 2 is not good because of the expression (or the cross eyed factor) of the model.

i'd add a little post work to pic 1 to make it more interesting though, because it's quite an empty photo.
>> Anonymous
>>82851
Thanks for the criticism. What post work would you suggest doing to make it more interesting?
>> Anonymous
>>82851
oh, and I mean shots in general, not just this one. I'm trying to improve my technique, so any advice would be helpful.
>> Anonymous
>>82853
bring out the model more by adjusting the contrast... color balance and replace color tools.
also try to go around the picture with the lasso (close to the edge).. then feather it by around 240... then lowering the brightness a little.. some gaussian blur (light, with a heavy normal blend fade)

while all the above sounds like a heavy edit job, go subtle with the values and the photo will look very nice

you have great potential as a photographer, so good luck :]

have her turn her head sideways

Still have her look directly at the lens when she turns her head. Also get her topless or fully nude it up.

Heres a little /k/ related tip.

Trigger discipline. Sure its obviously an airsoft rifle, but its not the point, no firearm enthusiast likes to see a finger inside the trigger guard unless youre about to fire.

Its a small thing and you might think its pointless, but believe me it cane make all the difference.

I'm in the military too, but I honestly don't give a fuck if it's a toy that can't harm you. I do care if it's a paintball gun or a real firearm.

Seriously i know /k/ goes ballistic but its not really important during photoshoots when its a controlled enviroment.

I did a shot for a rifle club where i was standing infront of the barrel with the bolt closed and its still quite unnerving.

OK, gunfags, gb2/k/ and keep your fingers off the triggers. The rest of us photographers will do what it takes to get the shot we want. Sometimes you take risks in life.
>> Macheath !8b4g0BkNZg
Why was my post about being this being /k/ unfriendly deleted? :(
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>82928
Because the janitors in here are weird and dont like us arguing about things. Seriously ive had some random posts deleted too.

Anyway Im aware of accidents going off, but i dont have very high standard for americans so DEA guys shooting themselves? I didnt expect them not too...

I made a large post last night but /p/ seemed to be frozen and i couldnt post.

Basically what i was going to say was, why bother giving your subject a prop if they arent going to use the prop correctly? Its a lot better to see a photo of someone holding a firearm correctly than to see them dicking around with it like its the first time theyve ever seen one, you could say its unprofessional to do so.

Also, a chick who looks like she knows how to handle a gun is a lot hotter than some chick with her booger hook on the bangswitch.

Like>>83008wrote, there's much to be said for accuracy in the scene. Sure, most people won't notice that her finger's on the trigger, but people with gun backgrounds are gonna notice it and it's going to bug them.

It's like when I see something stupid in TV and movies that only a computer geek or a camera geek would catch. Like the first episode of "Chuck" where all of the government's secrets were stored on a Mac Classic with a color screen. Or the movie (the title of which I've forgotten) in which a father is shown taking three or four pictures of his kid before he notices the lens cap is on--on an SLR.

Little details like that can make or break a shot.

>>83031

>>83029
This may be earth shattering to you but.. MAYBE THE PHOTOGRAPHER WAS NOT TRYING TO PORTRAY A PERSON WITH A GUN BACKGROUND.

Ever seen shots from war torn regions of the world portraying guerrilla gunman? Many of them have their fingers all over the damn trigger. Should the photographer have stopped them and lectured them on gun safety?
>> Anonymous
>>83037
Well, then, it didn't work, as this thread clearly evinces. To be honest, it looks like the photographer was trying to portray no more than "hot girl with gun." Maybe he was trying to portray more, but it didn't work, at least not for this shot.

OP here.

Honestly, when I took this photo my girlfriend and I were just hanging around and randomly decided to do a shoot. I gave her my airsoft gun and snapped a few shots, not really paying much attention to the small details.

Anyhoo, I cropped the photo a little, so now you can't see her trigger finger at all.

Clearly the lack of trigger discipline is something that distracts the viewer. It's like a model posing but with a ketchup stain on their shirt or something. You could make the argument "OMG IZ JUST A SMALL STAIN" but a distraction is a distraction.

"Hot girls with guns" is a pretty crappy sybject. Find something more interesting. If you really must have a gun for some reason, then at least don't put a babe. Perhaps a 90 year old wrinkled grandma ? A person in a wheelchair ? A toddler ?

In one of the shots, she's looking at the tip of her nose or something, and she looks really bored. Practice your expressions ! She really doesn't look like a warrior. She just looks like a booth babe who's never held a gun in her life, with a gun.
