D90 vs D300? Falldog !2qYdimqiHs
I'm thinking of upgrading from D50 body to either a D300 or a D90. So far I don't see much of a benefit by going with the D300 unless I suddenly pick up sports photography.

Of the reviews I've read the D90 has pretty much the same quality as the D300, but a tad smaller and lighter. The D300 would probably cost me about 500 more, not to mention another +100 more to buy CF cards.

Any one have an opinion (stupid question for /p/)? I might try and hold off until December when the price of the D90 is sure to drop.

nobody cares, you dumb faggot. just make a decision for yourself.

Get the D90. You seem to be leaning toward it anyway, and it's pretty cheap for what it gives.
And yeah, I'd say hold off as long as you can, not only because of prices but there'd be more reviews you can consult. It is pretty new, after all.

Only major downfall, imo, is the fact that you can't meter with any manual focus lenses.
Oh, and the fact it takes longer to batch upload with CF cards, but that's not very important to me.

Well the two lenses I use right now is the Sigma 10-20mm and the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 D, both work great on my D50 so I imagine no loss of functionality on the D90.

Just how much faster is a transfer off of CF cards? I haven't used 'em since my first Coolpix years and years ago.

Well, SD cards just don't come in speed grades that are anything close to CF cards. I think for "average" high-speed SD cards, the transfer rates are around 20 mb/s, whereas with fast CF cards have an average around 80 mb/s from what I understand.

Keep in mind I only use CF occasionally, if I'm renting or borrowing a body, maybe once a month, so if you really need the technical details, it might be better to look it up
