Taken with a Yashica Samurai X3.0 half-frame SLR on Fuji Neopan SS (iso 100). Developed last night in Ilford DD-X. And, despite fucking up in several of the steps, apparently black and white developing is forgiving enough that I was able to get away with it. Some of the frames are a little dark, but I'm okay with that since I was expecting all of the frames to be completely worthless.

This is my favorite shot that I've scanned so far.

The Samurai is a weird little beast. It's an SLR, but it looks like a video camera (it's oriented strangely since it's half-frame) and offers no manual controls. You can zoom, you can tell it whether or not to use flash, but everything else is auto. You can't even manually focus because it doesn't have a ground-glass viewfinder, just regular glass (I.e., your eye will focus through the lens instead of focusing on the focal plane. I flubbed several shots before figuring that one out).

Twelve chances to win.

Also: Twelve chances to fail.

Without fail, there can be no win.
