My parents found my grandparents old TLR when cleaning out the house, so they gave it to me.
It still has film on it, I'm assuming maybe even a few exposures, so i'm taking it to a local camera store to try to save what was on it. Then i'll buy some 120 film for myself to fuck around with.

Pic related, I have the manual it came with and the box / leather case. Its in great shape, very little dust in the viewfinder, and the glass itself is dust free.
Focusing ring turns smoothly, and the aperture lever is smooth aswell.

Its in fucking awesome shape.

Heres hoping the 35mm insert wasn't installed, as I want to use 120 film!

check the manual, you can use 35mm film in it via some sort of optional insert.

So i'm hoping it wasn't installed, as I haven't opened it up yet to see!

yeah, because a camera shop is going to know the ins and outs of an esoteric TLR, M I RITE?

Yes TLRs rule but i think the battery in my ymat124 is going to die soon, which blows because i've never had to change it. Shrugggg.

the camera store i'm taking it to has a darkroom, where I do not.

Because of its limited shutter speeds i think i may need to get some really slow film. 1/200 is the max!

In my old cameras, most of which have a max shutter speed of around 1/300, I shoot plus-x when I want a fast emulsion and Pan F when I want a slow one. Sometimes I even pull the pan F.

ASA 25 what

not too many films that I really don't like but Pan F is one. Murky shit

I got no problems with it. If you want it to be less murky then just print on grade V paper or something.

This. You generally want to have a film with the lowest contrast possible, to capture as much information. Increasing contrast can always be done later, the opposite, nay. Anon just needs to learn what film contrast actually means.

I think you may be shocked at prices people charge to do your 120 film, unless the people you're taking it too are reasonably.

fun stuff

Or, you know, you can just shoot Plus-x and develop it in 25 cents' worth of D-76.
Color is expensive, sure, but that's what digital is for. A 20-megapixel camera like the 1Ds or 5DMkII is approaching the resolution of a medium format color film.

Picked up some 50 asa pan-x B+W
AND some Velvia 50 aswell (5.99 + 7.99 each 120 roll)

The film was 25 asa kodak something, they never told me the exact name
