actually, i think cosina makes the fm10 for nikon, and i don't think it's going away anytime soon. hell, they specifically made a point of stressing that when they killed off their film operation.
as for shooting film, i like to do it, and i have quite a few cameras that take the stuff. I shoot expired fuji superia (someone gave me like 50 rolls) on an Argus C3 Matchmatic that i CLA'd completely myself, the soft lens and the bum film give the pictures it makes a sort of 'vintage' look i guess you could call it. I love me some Ilford xp2 400 to shoot with my SRT201 and the gorgeous Rokkor-x 50/1.4. i dont' know if ilford still makes the stuff, its nowhere on their site. for your regular old color film, i just use joe-blow kodak 200, the kind you could buy at walgreens. Not the greatest film, but trying to find good color films around these days is an excercise in patience. pentax me and the 28/2 get the color.
Also, i shoot whatever 120 i can get my hands on since it's rare to come by, be it kodak or fuji or whatever else. the rolleicord takes them all like a champ though.
The best part of shooting with film, i think, is actually getting in the darkroom and making your own prints though. I love that.
