That's pretty badass. Does the circuit only load 1 capacitor at a time, or does it add 1 capacitor per switch?.... Also, can it add the first and last capacitors to the circuit without the middle two?

Got the schematic?

I can choose the main capacitor, or any combination of the external capacitor.
50uF, 22uF, 10uF and 4.7uF

That flash is made of ghetto and win.

I guess my ghetto-modded 40mm Hexanon is related to this thread.

Oops, made a mistake in previous schematic, correct version now.

Thanks OiD for the schematic.

Will have a play around with this idea at some point, maybe introducing vari-cap's, etc.

There is a tiny neon lamp indicator on the back that lights up when it is ready to fire.
Cycle time on;
4.7uF cap is ... 5 flashes per second
10uF cap is... 2 or 3 flashes second
22uF cap is... 1 flash second
50uF cap is... 1 flash every two seconds
Main cap is... 1 flash every 5 seconds

And the 16 power combinations vary in between above values

I envy your neat lens mod

I hope you don't mind if I steal that idea.

Certified win, mate.

After reading your initial post, I thought about creating a flash head from scratch. It then hit me about how I'd go about making a 'ready' indicator.

Do you know how I'd work a LED into the schematic/circuit to indicate when the capacitors are charged?

Being a complete novice when it comes to electronics, and only previous construction being a basic, and very unstable 1w FM transmitter - My skills and knowledge are limited :P

So the stock indicator lamp works with the modded capacitors?
>> OiD
>>198545
hmmm... provably a resistor and a LED across the caps, maybe with a zener diode. Neon lamps just have a resistor because the conduct at high voltages. Google for some DIY flash.

>>198575
Yeah, well, on cheappo flashes yes. All the indicator does is light up when there is xx volts in the caps

Now i need to see how long the flash duration is...

What's that mod for?

bayonet and flange ground off

mount modified to fit four thirds, chip fitted to enable MF confirm, IS and stuff like that
>> Anonymous
>>198394
I class my project as a failure, flash duration is too long for highspeed photography. Plus the flash is miserable anyway xD
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>199083
You always need a real strobe for high speed photog, a flash wont ever cut it.
