Shittiest fucking lighting ever, But after a lot of shopping (And the Magic of IR) It still ended up decent.

Planning on going back when the lighting is good, well actually, Back again, I only had my Film cam with me last time (when lighting was awesome) so I have a whole bunch of Velvia 50 shot from here thats getting developed.

wow. saved.
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM
Man, even IR couldnt save the crappy light and clouds. But the valley does look bloody fantastic.

Great salvage.

I don't understand. whats wrong with the lighting?
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa
>>80068
looks a little overcast, but i cant actually tell that well from>>80042alone as there is no contrast in the sky. But, i totally agree with you, i dont see any problems with lighting conditions, would be a lot worse.

would = could (sorry)

I think he was using "Lighting" more to refer to the general quality of the sky.

It's the sort of sky that gives you great lighting for taking portraits, but it's horrible for landscapes. Just a big slab of undifferentiated grayishness.
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa
>>80074
ah, maybe i was reading it too literal

Ya it was mostly a sky problem, But the ground was also crappy aswell, It was one of those shots where you look at the histogram and it looks like a little hill with 1/2 of the histogram untouched.

Heres the exposure I had to take to save any detail in the sky. As the first sample Pic I showed you was exposed for the foreground, and the sky was overblown.
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa
lol i never look at the histogram, ever
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms
>>80095
The worst histogram is the one shaped like a big "U".
>> Anonymous
>>80099
Not necessarily. One shaped like a flat line with a spike at just one end would be worse.
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms
Yeah, I didn't mean as the end result precisely, just in terms of the dynamic range it represents, it's such a pain to get it balanced, way too easy to end up with that pure blown out spike.

Same here. It's probably a lack of understanding and I should really look into it one of these days, but it only seems to confirm things I can tell from the preview.

i think i'm the same, lack of understanding. But i've survived without using, or even having one, especially on my film bodies lol.

This, of course, is the best kind of histogram.
>> Vincent
The U shaped histogram can at least be Fixed with some creative use of HDR (The good way not the tonemapping kind)

Anyway I liked how the first pic turned out, just took a ton of editing to get that way.

Also thats wicked

Oh I know there are ways around it, I'm just saying it's a pain in the ass.
I would've killed for a gnd.

Wicked scenery there, You didn't take the pic in RAW did you? IF you did you can still save a bit of the highlights. (Via HDR)

Unfortunately no, I was in the UK for two and a half weeks and didn't really have any way to empty my memory cards, didn't want files that big.
These are on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
