New Camera fiathriel !alG1Ma2MQ6
Well I finally bought a digital SLR, it's very exciting and even though I've only had it a day I've taken lots of pictures . . . .

This one was taken from a moving car so the front windscreen in the way is probably hazing the picture somewhat

it bothers me that people with no eye for photography jump in a get a good dslr, get a film slr, get a point and shoot, dont waste your money on something that you dont need, at least not yet

I don't think these are bad at all.
>> Anonymous
>>37489that is quite good, the rest... not so much so, but photography is a skill and having a camera that lets you develop it is no bad thing :P a Pentax K10D isn't too good anyways is it?

You are what's wrong with Photography these days.

i've only been chicking out /p/ for like a week but i can already tell that cats are like the third most photographed thing on earth after sunsets and flowers and before butterflies. also i hate cats. i guess that biases me a little. i liked your OP pic though its got a good feel to it.

No, he makes a good point; it's just poorly expressed. People will buy expensive equipment, not know how to use it, and still think their photos are great because it came out of an expensive machine. A good photographer will get better pictures out of a point-and-shoot than a techie with the best gear.

This one I like a lot.

I'm curious about the K10D: how's it to use?

It's part of the cats' plan to dominate the earth

True. But where is the OP acting like one of these people?

It's a dream to use but unfortunately I'm stuck with a 70-300mm lens only because the smaller lens 16-45 is on back order. So I have been unable to take the shots I want . . . .

As for some not no great comments, how am I supposed to learn and 'justify' the DSLR purchase if I have nothing to learn on? LOL I'll be learning on this . . .

Anyhow I took some more today, they are pretty boring but honestly I'm just trying to get a feel for what I can and can't get right for now!!!! I've only had it 3 days!

Testing the macro lens (which is the 70-300mm, which had me confused) . . . I didn't know there was a Preying Mantis in the photo until I checked my PC!!!

I posted a similar thread about this, being in a similar situation. THE INTERNET always say it's the photographer's skill and not the equipment he's using that's important, so I'd like to know what makes a skilled photographer besides reading the fucking manual and being in the right place at the right time.

Indeed, it's futile making comments like "You are crap give up try hard" at people like me. I'm a beginner, all I can do is practice practice!!!

Yes the DSLR might seem over the top but I already had an SLR and it broke, I was not going to invest in repairing it or getting another SLR when the DSLR's are now so readily available. . . . .

It's all about fun, it's not as if we are posting these pictures in a National Geographic Audition!!!
