/p/, I want to become a better photographer. How do I do this? Can you point me to some websites with good info on composing pictures and taking them so that they come out good and not just a snapshot of a moment in time?

Here's a random picture of a bird on a wire.

You see...the reason I asked was because I figured you guys would know the best sites, so I wouldn't have to weed through miles of crap and mediocre information. Since I don't really know much, its took me a few hours to figure out that most of the websites that come up under "basic photography" aren't very helpful.

You actually expected to get help from /p/? Nothing exists on this board but animosity and jealousy.

Go to your local library.

Read books about photography there. Or, even better, books OF photography. Look at a shitload of good photographs and you'll get a feel for what makes a good photograph.

Wow...why all the hate?

I didn't know that taking pictures was an insider's club.

Thanks, those are pretty good ones.

I liked the bit on point and shoot at photo.net, since that's pretty much what I have (an old Olympus C-700)
