fixed 50mm minolta Anonymous
hello /p/
wanted to buy a used fixed 50mm lens for my 800si to fool around with, and was shocked what the little fuckers cost. Why the hell are they more expensiv than a ceap zoom? I can't find one for unter 100 euros, and i really am not chosy. And new its even worse
These lenses should be much cheaper to produce than zooms, shouldn't they? Less complex, less materials, less everything.
what am i missing here

I'd say paying 100 pounds to get a 50/1,7 way expensive 100 pounds about 200 $ after all,

so no idea why they are more expensive than mid-bottom ranged zooms?

Why are you posting?

I would like an explenation what makes the 50/1.7 and 50/1.4 lenses so expensive, even though the design hasn't changed much in the last 40 years.

I have no idea why, special glass? Low production rate? old guys with to much cash love them because they remind them of their youth? Any explination to be had.

You are stupid, I know this, the other people with 50/1.7s know this. We can charge you more for the lens than what we paid for it because you are too stupid to find someone who will sell it to you for less. Since you are stupid you cannot find this person and so you think the price is too high when it is only your IQ that is too low.

50/1.4s are either brand new and the high price is the cost of that much glass and manufacture or old and rare. Your stupidity does not affect the prices of these, they are expensive for all systems.

I still don't get it, you can buy new "decent" mass market brand name zooms for far under 100 euros.

that the extremly bright 50/1.4 lenses are expensiv makes sense. But why are there no cheap 50s to be had? No matter how big a fuckin moron i am, they don't sell on ebay uk or de for less than about 100 euros or 70 pounds.

because nigger sony users are driving up the prices.

Get a M42 screwmount Takumar and an adapter, learn the joys of manual focus. Hint: f/1.4's often go for under US$20 on eBay.

>new "decent" mass market brand name zooms

There are no new 50/1.7s, so anything you buy is going to be 10 years old. The 50/1.7 is well above "decent" and any fixed aperture zoom will not be had for 100e
> Sigma - 24-70 F3.5-5.6 Aspherical HF
This is a "new" (discontinued but still avalible new) zoom for 100usd. The quality of this is that of using tupperware, this is not the same with the 50/1.7 (which is pretty awesome).

But what we've laboured over saying is that they're not that expensive and you just cant find the cheap ones. This is your fault, not the markets.
