Generic question requiring simple answer Anonymous
Hi, /p/, I have a noob question.

I was considering buying a D80, but the lack of weather-sealing put me off, so now I have my eyes on the D200. Are there any major differences between the two, besides the sealing? Is the price diff a ripoff considering how cheap D80s are getting now?
>> Anonymous
If you don't know the difference and only want the sealing, get the D80. Seriously.

Sealing is worthless without sealed lenses k.

yeah on that topic... can't you buy separate rubber rings or something to shove over the lens mount? does something like that exist? seems to me to be easy and effective enough...

Do it the clever way, use an old plastic bag.. cut a hole out of the end, and poke your lens through.

A good plan indeedie - I was also worried about general wet conditions (such as damp air/fog, etc), but I guess that is just paranoia.

living on an island, in england. about 3 mins walk away from the beach - I can assure you you'll have no problems with the D80.

I've used it in the rain unprotected a few times, and it still works just as good as it ever did.

The worst the weather has ever done is made condensation on the uv filter -.-

the D200 is a full Metal case. Its also just a better camera- for example, when you upgrade you'd sell the d80, if you were to upgrade with the d200 you'd keep it as a backup camera.

go the d200, its a level above

You can use mf Nikon lenses on a D200, you cannot with a D80

I call ballshit

Prove me wrong that you can't use MF on the D80.
Although you have to chimp the exposures.

you're another fag who is starting to post way too much
OK here
How many people are going to use a DSLR with a handheld light meter?
Just shut the fuck up

>you're another fag who is starting to post way too much
Lurk harder
>How many people are going to use a DSLR with a handheld light meter?
Do you even know what chimping means you fool?
It means after taking a photo, you then look at the histogram to check the exposure. The D80 can be set to automatically display the photo taken with the histogram in on the back LCD instantly.

Use your brain before you post again, fuck tard.

You can, but it's fucking worthless for most people because Nikon won't let it meter with them.

unless you have non-AI lenses, go with the d80
>> Serenar !m827jEgWi.
>>269373
Neither the D80 or D200 will mount non-AI lenses. Those only work on the D40/D40x/D60, because the AF screw doesn't play nice with the physical mount. AI lenses mount to the D80/D200 but only meter on the D200.

>rubber rings to shove over the lens mount

you can stretch a condom over the entire camera and a smallish lens quite easily, and still use all the controls. Don't put anything over the lens mount because that will change the flange-focal plane distance and none of your pictures will be in focus any more.

Nikon MF lenses meter fine on the D80.

>>269374
They mount fine on the D80 and D200. There's a little recess for the focus screw to sit in.

AI lenses meter fine on the D80.

ITT nobody knows what the fuck they're talking about

Since when? I've never seen a non-chipped AI or AI-S meter on a D80. Only on Dx00 and Dx bodies.

God, just Google it and you'll find out how much of a fucking retard you are.

You can meter fine with all mf nikon lenses on all canon dslr bodies.

liek dis cannon ya?

is that a dslr body?
>> RioRico
The Pentax K20D (15mpx) has a sealed body. The Pentax DA* 16-50/2.8 and DA* 50-135/2.8 lenses are sealed. Short of an UW housing, these are about the most dust- and water-resistant dSLR items available now.

its a shame pentax are almost as shit as canon

If you have the munny, get the d200.

It will help you come to terms with your skill level more quickly, as you can't blame the camera for your shitty photography.
