And now for a thread you’ve probably screen a thousand times…

I’m looking for a good website or physical store (chain or in the Northern VA area if interested) that I could take some of my photos to in order fro them to be printed in large format or in something like a nice calendar as gifts for family and friends. (Although, I’d be nice to sell some in order to raise money for a 18-200… lol)

I’ve Googled it a bit and seen quite a few options, but I have no idea what kind of quality and service I’d be getting so I figured I’d ask here and get your opinions. I imagine a lot of you have done this type of thing before, hopefully with success. Last year I tried going to Fedex Kinkos (hah) with not so uplifting results. The only bright side was that my black and white photos ended up with deeper blacks for an unexpected appearance.

And since /p/ is about photos as well, the above one is from a stormy night back at home. Normally the sky would have been an amber color from the near by city but I had my white balance set to counter reds when I took the shot.

Thanks :)

I've heard lots of good things about mpix, but I haven't put an order in yet. Probably will soon. I want to wait until I have a good number of shots to do and get them all done at once (tons) cause shipping to Canada is expensive for one-off shots
