/p/ please help :[

i was at a christmas party yesterday and got talking to my aunt about photography. my uncle just got her a brand new canon 350D for christmas and i was helping her figure some things out. she asked me if i knew anyone who wanted to buy her old camera, and i was quick to say i wanted to buy it. she didn't know the model number right off hand, but told me it was a minolta from around 2003-2005 [she said she got it when her daughter was born, i don't know the exact year] and that she paid about $1000 for it.

so, any guess on the model?

Yes. It will feature letters, or numbers, or perhaps a combination of numbers and letters.

I hope she isn't expecting anything close to the price she paid for it. That's something a lot of people seem to expect when they aren't up to speed.

she told me probably around $250 with two lenses as well.

Even that might not be cheap. If you can find out details on what it all is then you can compare with eBay and other places.

Okay, assuming it's digital, it's probably a Maxxum 5D. The "two lenses" suggests it's a digital SLR, and Minolta only made two DSLRs so far as I know. The 7D was the higher end one, so would've sold for more than $1000 when it was new.

That being the case, $250 is probably not a bad deal.
