still awesome sharpness through the TC, slows down focus speed like hell though on my nikkor 105 f2.8 af-s vr =/

2.0x teleconvertors in general aren't good for image quality, and are pretty horrible for killing focus speed..

Anyway what I wanted to ask, is if with the TC on do you get a higher magnification than 1:1?

Chris, dont listen to the newfag
a simple barlow lens wont hurt your optical quality very much, Chris, if it is in decent shape. adding one more lens into your 10 element 6 group system is unlikely to be the straw the breaks the camel's back, Chris.

Lol I was wondering wtf was up with the repeated namecalling as well.

Also since when do 2x teleconvertors only have a single peice of glass in them?
"7 elements in 6 group lens construction assures highest picture quality"
Ya thats not one peice of glass.

lol really
>7 elements in 6 group lens construction assures that the combined surface errors of 14 lens faces ruins your image quality.
should just be a single very finely ground double concave.
