It's 400iso b&w film, of course it's going to be.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>267782
400 isn't really particularly high ISO for modern B&W film.
>> Anonymous
>>267782
No it's not "of course" just because it's 400 speed BW.
It's grainy because it's a grainy film, the Ilford equivalent to Kodaks Tri-X.
Ilford has among other films the delta 400 with much finer grain, still the same speed.
Kodak has Tmax.

haha beethy you're one of those fags who wants everything to look commercial.

the OP pic is quite nice, and so was teh one he posted the other day (aside from not being level).

And to everyone.. of course someone sees something and thinks "hey this would make a nice pic" or else they wouldnt take it. There is no other way to do street photography. But you still have to have good composition, which soulr does. Even though I've only liked 2 pics he's posted, those 2 are better than the hundreds of people's backs as they walk down the street that you faggots post.

ISO?

shutter speed?
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
About the film thing, I know that already...

And comparatively, 400iso film is definitely grainier than 400iso on current generations of digital SLRs.

>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>267650
Fuzzy. Looks like you underexposed it and either the scanner or printer pushed it since, as mentioned, ISO400 B&W shouldn't be that grainy. Great subject and composition, though.

>>267651
Awesome. Great scene. Would be better if the guy were facing more towards the camera, but still great.

>>267653
Again, great shot. Love the lighting, love the composition. This is the sort of thing B&W excels at.

>>267655
Meh

>>267657
Interesting because it looks like it was shot in 1953. Otherwise unremarkable.

>>267658
I don't like the big shadow over much of the frame and the fact that the subject is so tiny off in the distance like that.

>>268069
Unremarkable.

>>268070
Back to awesome again. Though I wish you'd waited for the girls to get a little further into the foreground or middle ground before taking the shot.

>>268071
>>268073
Unremarkable

>>268522
Really nice portrait. I think a very slight rotation so she didn't have a background line hitting her face and we got closer to a 3/4 profile would have improved it, though.

>>269809
Boring and snapshotty. And the tones are so boring that I had to check the exif because this looks oddly like a digital converted hamfistedly to B&W rather than your normal B&W film workflow.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>271465
And note: Those "unremarkable"s are only when taken in comparison to your other work. For most of the people and Anonymous here, they'd be pretty great. I just don't think they live up to your normal high standard.

And it really annoys me that I like your pictures so much since, personally, I think you're a complete tool.

really? suppose you tell us about some "high speed" B&W films

>>270165
>>And comparatively, 400iso film is definitely grainier than 400iso on current generations of digital SLRs.

shoot a lot of film huh pal? It shows because you don't know what you are talking about. The grain on any film, depends on more than just its speed. Take a look at T-Max 400 developed in Acufine and see if you still say that
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>271470
>really? suppose you tell us about some "high speed" B&W films
Hm. After checking Adorama, I see that you're right: ISO400 is pretty high compared to a lot of B&W out there and slow only compared to three kinds out there. I assumed there were more high speed films available than Delta 3200, TMax P3200, and Neopan 1600. My B&W of choice is generally Delta 3200 because I'm an available-light junkie, so my experience with B&W speeds are a bit skewed.

But I think my point stands that one shouldn't automatically assume it's going to be grainy simply because it's ISO400, since
1. There are a bunch of different ISO400 B&W films out there with various different grain characteristics
2. The rest of the shots in this thread were shot on the same film and aren't particularly grainy
3. You yourself seem to be arguing the same thing
