The Vidster Anonymous
Hello /p/

I just thought I'd share an interesting little device with you. It's called the Vidster. Its about $25 in most stores in the United States. It's an interesting little camera because of all the corner cutting the company had to do to make it cheap.

They had to down grade the CMOS sensor, apply the tiniest inset of plastic lenses and a horrible compression processor. HOWEVER this may sound bad at first BUT with these problems the camera takes really interesting video and photos. It's almost as if the 70's came back.

I'll post some vidster images for you to check out.

This one actually had a cokin rack installed.
I used a slight Gaussian filter.

Sage for what reason? I'm just showing examples.
Nothing bad of it.
>> Anonymous
5/201 sec?? WTF?!
>> Anonymous
Looks like shit.
TERRIBLE noise, awful color shift.

The only thing that makes these look kind of nice is that you've added a border.
>> Anonymous
>>162422

Those are cool for a cheapy camera! Do a JFK assasination video!
>> Anonymous
>>162424
I think that's what makes it unique.
Poor color representation and digital noise.

For some reason when I look at these they just look old.
>> Anonymous
>>162424
LOL someone doesn't understand the concept of photography.

Sadness.

kinda reminds me of the old fisher PXL-2000
but color and no audio cassettes....I hope.

If it actually took sharp pictures i'd buy it.

I'll be putting together a short series soon based entirely on the Vidster. In itself it will be a challenge since the device auto white balances, color corrects and contrast controls itself. Possibly a bit post work will be needed.

I'll give it a shot to see what comes of it.
>> Anonymous
Wow, it really does remind me of the old style images and footage. The retro-lovers will be all over this if word gets out.
>> Anonymous
>>162471
Yeah, there's just something about it that makes it look unique as all-hell.
>> Kryten
For its price I wouldn't mind buying it at all.

I may buy one if it's cheap.

I think this is a great thing. I don't see why sill photography is the only area that should have to suffer from the Holgafags. Suck it down, bitches.

How much of dollars is?
>> Anonymous
>>162505
In US dollars it is around $25-$45 depending on the place
They're going up in price because of the demand and limited supply.

$69.99
Which is too much.
For $30-$40 this would be cool, but $70? Fuck no.
>> Anonymous
>>162509
As I said, they're going up in price.

I picked mine up for $25 at Circuit City.

Do a google shopping search, it will give you more variety, Amazon has been known to be pricey at times.

OH I also forgot to say.
They're NO longer making them.
That's what I meant for limited supply.

You can get it cheaper on eBay.

>>162514
Yeah I suggest ebay as well, don't know if ubid has it though if you want to try something different.

Hell, I dont even know if ubid exists anymore.

I know that company, they make really cheap but well valued integrated circuits that go into those cheap cameras, PMP's, MP4 players, and just about every kind of China-cheap electronics.

They're awesome but I'm a quality fag.
>> CameraManJoe
I like this, I want this!
I like the retro feel of this camera, it creeps me out a bit at how eerie it looks.

It reminds me of looking through an oil glass or rustic victorian mirror or something like that.

whatever, I want it.

Come on, it's more unique than a cell phone camera.
Cellphone cameras also have a funky resolution.

Long live the digital Holga!

Yes, it also has an external mic for inputting as well.

Onboard memory 32mb
Expandable to 512mb with SD card

WTF? WHy limit the expandability?
Why not let you use any size of SD card you want?!?
>> Ur-Quan
>>163378
Because it makes files so small 512mb is honestly and seriously ALL you need.

I have a 512mb card on mine and I've got at least 2.4 hours of footage on it so far and loads of pics.

Because supporting something larger than 512 requires better computer chips, which cost more money.

this one reminds me of the blotchy noise shit my lumix likes to apply to everything above iso 100

Check this place out. I found it on youtube, it's a place where people use this thing and make music videos and other things.
