Has /p/ ever used a 360 degree lens fitting? are they worth it?

Or is it just simpler to buy a decent wide angle?

Just out of interest... the prices seem to be all over the place, anything from 300 to 900 pounds. ($600 to $1800)

Interesting for 360 panoramas though, i want one for my gallery work, so i can show people the stages of what im doing without rotating a camera on a tripod very slowly.. and then having to stitch.
