Dear /p/,

I'm buying a K20d next weekend; will I be disappointed? Also with the DA* 16-50/2.8.

pentax is for people that can't afford canon or nikon
>> Kavbar !bhcZKibP7.
Well, I can't. Call me a poorfag if you like.
>> Anonymous
why not just save up the rest of the money and get a nikon d60 or canon xsi/xti or something.
saves you the trouble of having aneurysms with autofocus later on.

RAAAAAGGGGGGEEEE

I could pick up an XSi or a 40D with a 17-40/4L if I so desired, but I like the idea of weatherproofing and body IS. Plus it would be a shame to miss the $200 rebate.

>pentax is for people that want high-quality, but don't want to turn into brandwhores

I agree completely.

yeah except the problem with the body IS is that if you use a lens that isn't IS compatible (you can hook up film lenses to a pentax body) then it's so unreliable that you might as well turn it off
i work at a photography store and my manager got the k10d and it sucked huge
get the 40d and hook it up to some sweet macros so you can manual focus through your laptop or something

That's only for non-CPU lenses from the stone age. Even Voigtlander-Cosina makes CPU lenses (i.e. Nokton 58/1.4, 40/2, etc). I don't think it'll be a relevant problem for me.
I don't much fancy Canikon, I'm afraid.

Wait, what?
I thought the whole point of having the IS in the body was that it didn't matter what lens you used, you'd still get the benefit of IS.

IS in body = IS not in lens

Can you please explain what you mean a little better?

Great photo, BTW.
Lovely texture.

IIRC, you need to enter the focal length of a lens that it doesn't recognize, because the IS system is dependent on that info. Maybe something about that makes it less reliable, who knows.
