I usually try to, but sometimes the 4chanitis overcomes me. I'm pretty sirius 90% of the time.

I love trolling when I see a chance and I have written copy pasta. When there are chances, however, I try to be informative. I know I don't know everything, but I like to share from what I've learned. I'm the guy that writes the page-long replies, and often forgets to say something, and then replies again adding what was missing to point out.

i post seriously in photo critique threads and on the odd occasion when i post my own pictures.. only ever think i've been a dick in a gear thread once but it deserved it. post as anon

>I know I don't know everything, but I like to share from what I've learned.

I meant to say "what I've learned about optics through study, research, and analysis.

Also this is what I meant by replying again after I post to clear things up. The text box is just so small that I often lose track of what I've already said and what I haven't.

Sorry but I'm never completely serious about anything. And I'm more into the use of cameras (not the gear but rather how they're used) than photography as an art. Not a fanatical gearfag but still more engineer than artist.

I post seriously, but being anonymous, how can you tell how many there are like me?

The only good name users on /p/ are:

Serenar
Warren
NatureGuy

Compare their posts to other name users.

All the other ones can be read as: ME! ME! ME!

Bunch of self-centered, egotistical brats. Vincent doesn't even make the cut with his wedding bullshit.

Don't give me that /p/ has changed bullshit. If you wanted serious advice and conversations, you wouldn't be posting on fucking 4chan with dickgirl hentai and vagina eel JAV.

Give me a fucking break with your holier-than-thou attitude and get the fuck out of 4chan if you can't take it.

/p/ in a nutshell, as dictated by it's most militant morons. Photo related
1) shallow DOF good
2) shallower DOF better
3) more megapixels good
4) many more better
5) If something is out of reach financially (ie Leica M8)
it must suck, that prevents /p/eons from feeling bad because they either 1) still live in mommy's basement or 2) studied art or history in school and it didn't pan out.
6)if the shot is brillant, but the subject is not beautiful, the shot sucks
7) showing grain or noise in a picture is like displaying your dirty underwear
8) lenses comparison using <,>,= are always especially welcome especially when you've never tried most of the lenses
9) arcane stuff like M42, always outstrips anything else, in any class. This is the corollary of #5. Idiots on /p/ can both find and afford something so it must be good.
10) No shot taken with a Sony camera is good.
11) Lots of talk about medium format but most idiots here have never even handled a MF camera
12) A bit of talk of LF cameras but almost no one here has ever handled one.
13) the bigger the tripfag, the great the person likes the sound of his own voice, and the more prone to spouting misinformation.
14) At any one time, there has to be at least 3 idiotic threads "Should I buy a D40?"
15) 1/3's rule, rules
16) Make "interesting shots" by following directions in Time-Life photography books.
17) don't admit it, but read Ken Rockwell's stuff
18) Think Philip-Lorca diCorcia or some other fraud, is a genius
19) Bigger is always better (Nikon 1.4 HAS to be sharper, than 1.8 - it ain't)
20) Sharpness is the most important aspect of any shot, even if it's a headshot or portrait.
21) Photoshop post-manipulation takes care of any lack of talent as a lensman.

fact 1: most anons who say they are pros once sold their mom a picture of her cat for $10 and are generally useless with a camera.

fact 2: however there are "serious business" pros who browse /p/ and like to give advice.

fact 3: these people are ignored because of fact 1.
>> Anonymous
I generally tend to pop in and give advice when I can. I don't call myself a pro (except to hot chicks...), as I'm not yet making a real living off of photography, but I've got a lot of experience in a wide range of situations, have been shooting seriously/semi-professionally for a decade, and have worked with almost any kind of gear out there. (Admittedly, I've only "played" with digital formats bigger than 35, though. I know what I'm doing with MF, but most of my MF and LF experience is film.)

I'm here mostly because I sometimes find things to "fill the gaps" in my skillset. I'm only recently getting serious when it comes to photoshop work, for example, and my work has previously been a combination of sports and product/architectural photography, so getting some ideas about more "artistic" stuff is interesting, as is working with models and other "people" subjects.

I'll also lend a hand when it comes to advice and criticism, even doing a bit of photoshop work myself to show people my suggestions. I don't mind talking about gear, either, especially when it comes to stuff other than cameras and lenses. I'm always interested to figure out new ideas for transporting and carrying gear, and the like, or creative ways to "work light".
>> Anonymous
I'm a /p/ro, as in, my sole income for the last decade has been through photography.

I tried to be helpful in here, but because /p/ thinks that in order to be /p/ro, you have to have all the newest and expensive gear, all my responses were met with responses like, "get out of here ken" or similar.

Because of that, I'm 90% troll, 10% helpful. Sometimes I'm a troll because I'm trying to be helpful, and /p/ loves the status symbol equipment and MOAR BORKAH!

Either way, I don't come to /p/ to talk or read about photography seriously. I come to /p/ for the lols.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
I get paid to take photos but in no way serious about photography. I just happen to know how to sell a service.
>> Anonymous
Is this one of those serious photography threads?

No. It's a bawwww thread. GTFO of my /p/.
>> Anonymous
I'm pro and I only use 2 lenses on a regular basis, one happens to be a kit lens.
>> Anonymous
>>283954
seriously, if you are doing photography for a living, it isn't a product. It isn't art. It isn't even prints, a dvd or images ftp'd to a client.

It is a service.

Monkeys with the right equipment on p mode can get good and sometimes great images.

Getting someone to pay cash money for average images is what being /p/ro is all about. You do that by selling a service, not by selling the photo.
>> Anonymous
>>283966
dude, fucking ditto. Im a fulltime pro and the only lenses I use 99% of the time are an 80-200 AF-D and a very sharp copy of an 18-70. Spending all my cash on a d3 and fifteen 2.8 lenses wouldn't be very profitable.

*would not have asked*
by placing 'have' into the sentence you're placing the relative time in the recent past that has been completed or placing that portion of the sentence into the pluperfect tense if I recall correctly.

would not of asked and wouldn't of asked doesn't make sense because of is missing it's subject or implied subject with that current word order

you're forming the sentence phonetically instead of logically (though this is English we're talking about, so the term of logic is used loosely)

im defending my use of a tripod, not preaching about how everyone should be using one, unlike you who has decided that no one should be using a tripod with a 35 mm and everyone who does is instantly a failure at photography. your preaching no hands and im dedfending my use of a tripod. wait let me restate that WAS defending my use because your argument is so unrealistic and your position is utterly nonsense. your main statement of anyone using a tripod is not a real photographer is the most asanine thought i have seen on /p/ in a while. you just dont get it do you...your trying to support your claim with NOTHING AT ALL. you have nothing to back up your claim, nothing to back up your attack on the people who use tripods. and me? well im just sitting here defending my ownership of a tripod.

critic fag most of the time, generally just watching the pix made by other people, and dont getting it. my taste is quite different. there are few shots i really liked here but most of your posts suck. unfortunately this board divides into three parts:

1. the photos themselves, but i havent encountered a serious discussion about angles, motives or sth similar.

2 a huge part where guys are cockfencing about their lenses and if canon overrules nikon or whatsoever blablabla and if they should buy this or that equipment

and 3. people asking stuff about editing.

as a photographer i feel like the "art" is in the moment when you actually take the picture, not in the 5 hours you spend on photoshop trying to make the most of it. i am also not such a huge equipment fag - i dont care about your lenses and what gadgets you have, i dont care. its ok that most of you a digi-fags, but i'm a film-fag so most of your exifs sont really interrest me either. i'd like people to post commentary on their pix, handtyped, like emotion or motivation that led to that specific pic. but most of you post pix i dont find interesting.

thats it from me
