Would a CPL have helped me eliminate the reflection here?

No matter where I positioned myself, I could not avoid the reflections from the lights overhead

Wrong, idiots. Polarizers only remove polarized light. They don't work against artificial lighting, unless they're polarized, as in the case of lcd screens. It won't do shit against indoor lights.
