I'm a complete amateur with only basic knowledge of framing, balance, etc. but I like it. A lot of things to focus on, each equally interesting. GJ, anon.

I actually think that's a nice shot. I am intregued because I am not sure what's going on in it. The only thing that would have been nice is a little fill flash so the person in front isn't so dark. Also, the left hand of the person in black is in an unfortunate position.

id like it more if the guy wasnt there, or was less in focus. he distracts from i think is the subject (the bitchiz)

I wish I had a decent flash on camera back then, but this was really spontaneous (started raining while we were still outside, flying kites, etc.)

Sadly I can't just shoop him out :( this is the best shot out of the series and it's one of those moments where I wish I had a 40D.

how would a 40d have helped?

6 vs 3 fps

A 40D wouldn't have helped OP since you pretty much caught the perfect moment.

I like this photo quite a lot

Good. But as said needs moar fill, and either less/more dof. It is sitting around the uncanny valley of dof.

wow i just looked at the exif, this was at f2.8???

Focal length and subject distance all play a part as well.

yeah i realized you probably werent that close to them a bit after

It's a good shot, some technical issues, but the idea and lighting rock.
Girl in foreground=Not focused :/
Guy in background=Motion blur.
If everyone was as in focus as the blonde girl it would me AWESOME.
Or if it was just the blonde girl.

I quite like it. As some have said there's some focus/blur issues but ultimately I think it works with the spontaneous nature of the image.

The girl in foreground is IMO affected by motion blur more than she is out of focus. She's quite blurry even when close to the focal plane. I really should have bumped the ISO back then, but nothing can be changed now ._.

Dodged her face a bit, I think it looks nicer now.

Great shot.

Would be better without the guy on the left. He looks like a tool. Maybe try a square crop of just the girls?

>>240707

disagree.. the 3rd person taking up less of the frame adds better balance than just two people of similar size

I agree from a layout perspective. I just think he looks like a tool. You've got two pretty happy smiling girls and... some jerk in the background with a sour expression on his face looking annoyed that he's getting rained on. Ruins the scene for me.
