yes, it's another "what camera should I buy" thread Anonymous
I've recently come into some money and I am looking for a nice dSLR to waste it on.

I haven't used many pro/semi pro cameras before, so when It comes to features and camera jargon it all goes over my head.

I do mostly photos involving people/models, and when it comes around to con day (yes a /cgl/ fag here) I'm usually the designated photographer.

from reading threads here people seem to plug the Nikon D80.

I'm looking for something that I can learn to use and as I become better buy upgrades (lenses, flashes etc) to help me grow as a photographer, but without having to shell out for an entire new camera.

thank you for your time

2008 WARNING: Don't buy the D80. The new D90 completely obsoletes it. If money matters, buy the almost identical D40, and if not, the D90 is a complete generation beyond the old D80.

You left out the best fucking parts. I'm the one who originally trolled /p/ with this. You need to leave the part in where he says it's almost identical to the D40 and says the review should be treated as a historical artifact.

*I meant where he goes on to say "I have all these cameras at my disposal, and I still grab my D40 first" -- not the identical thing, sorry.

you sound like a fucking retard. you clearly don't deserve a pro camera, go buy a d40 and keep it locked in auto like a soccer mom.
