Alternately, learn how to actually use it so you can learn what the "fast motion" mode does. I.e., set your aperture and ISO appropriately so you can use a fast enough shutter speed to keep things from getting blurry.

my ex-gf started with that one about two years ago. she's pretty much in the pro field now...
i used it a couple of times myself. really handy and offers quite a number of settings. for a cheap starter cam, it's fine IMO.

great choice for a first camera. 3.2 MP is all compacts should be rather than those 12 mp compact fagcams. That camera should turn out very nice looking images and you have full manual control to learn from.

I've used several compacts and 3.2MP isn't enough if you want to print something at 8x10 once in a while. Anything over 5-6 MP is a definite overkill, though.
