Buying a powershot A640 ? Anonymous
Hey there /p/ !

I guess you get this kind of thread often enough so i'll try to make it quick :

I'm a total beginner, i can't afford a reflex.
The Canon Powershot A640 seems to be exactly what i need to get the hang of manual settings.

BUT there was this article about how it would make noisy inside pictures, so I don't know if I should consider picking another model...

halp ?

Every compact will have shitty 400+ iso. Sensor size + high mpix = noise rape.
For getting hang of manual controls get good bridge cam from Fuji, or Minolta A1/A2/A200.

Also, fuck indoor get outside.

Bridge cameras won't be that much better than an A640. It's got a 1/1.8" sensor. Not as big as the 2/3" in the Minoltas you mentioned, but it's a 1/1.8" that's several generations newer, so the amount of noise is probably as good as better.

So yeah, I'd recommend the A640. It's a good little camera. Better manual controls than the camera I started out on.

Guess I'll settle for the cheapest/easiest to find... The Minoltas ARE pretty impressive.

Thanks a lot for your answers.
Hope I'll become a cool /p/ regular one of these days.
