Kodachrome is very nice, scans well, holds detail up to about 3200 dpi

And thats about it for now, they have TONS more, but I just quickly went through one box and scanned all my favorite ones.
Didn't use the dust and scratch reduction because it doesn't work that great, and slows the scanning down to about 3x as long...

Massive win, Vincent!

Also nice boat.

Amazing!

Forgot to say these are all taken in 1980-1984.
Been sitting in a box for roughly 25 years!

Pretty fantastic image quality considering the age!

Most impressive. Your parents have skills. :)
Also, the image quality is damn good.

I really like this one. However, I think it should be tilted just a bit and the bridge a smudge lower, as shown.

Also, what an awesome carpet. I think my dad has some pictures like this (of various babies).

These are fantastic.

I used to have the 8400, and I got some great scans out of it. I think this summer, I should buy a nice scanner with a big slide adapter and convert those boxes in my dad's garage to digital copies.

Kodachrome is made for professionals, in dark storage it's supposed to last hundreds of years

It holds more detail than 8800f can handle. Also the film looks a lot more detailed and sharper with a real film scanner :-)

Kodachrome is fuckin' win. I understand why Kodak stopped making it, but I'm still sad they did. My mom has been buying people's old slides on eBay, and the Kodachrome stuff looks as beautiful as the day it was developed while any other slide process looks faded as hell.

most othe chromes fade horribly indeed. Velvia and the likes wouldn't be bad though, and look much better for nature

I actually found the Ektachrome to be pretty good for colors / contrast (2nd, 6th and 7th pic), just the ASA difference really shows up in scans over 2400 dpi.

However my parents knew to put these away, so they have been stored properly all this time (and its very dry in the area they live in)
