the fuck is this shit?

you smoked some bad granola.

Really dig the first one. It should seem terribly cliche, but it's quite the opposite. Good work.

Did you win that viewfinder auction on eBay?
>> Anonymous
I dig both pictures, those aren't cliche at all if you ask me.

Smoked the last of my very GOOD granola this morning. :(

Thank you... I read the time wrong on that auction. Another 20 hours to go, lol. So far so good, though. If that doesn't work out, though, I can get one from Stephen Gandy at cameraquest for like $145. That's about as cheap as they come, new.

Here's an old concert one from like a year ago, just for fun.

This one's good too; OP pic is still better.

Is the Ricoh *exactly^ 28mm equivalent and/or is what Gandy is selling meant for the Rioch? Because that was, and it also had framelines for the 21mm-equivalent attachment you expressed interest in.

Gandy's isn't for the GR-D, but the GR-D is exactly 28mm equiv. Not that it matters, because all brightline finders are off a little, but a generic 28mm finder will do.

Buy the minifinder, I swear it's awesome.

Protip: who do you think makes the "Ricoh" viewfinder? It's IDENTICAL in appearance and construction to the Cosina-Voigtlander 21mm finder, with the addition of 28mm brightlines. I'm gonna guess CV. I wish I had a local store where I could pop on both finders and compare them to one another :/

Honestly, my concern with the minifinder is that I'll have to bring the camera right up to my face, whereas the high eyepoint vf is a little higher up, and looks like I wouldn't have to press my eyeball right up against it. Plus, I'm a sucker for how it looks. I also worry that the 35 framelines would be a bit distracting and cluttery. Also, it's more expensive. :(

Sigh, yeah. What can I say? I love foolin' around and heavy breathing. :(

Never seen the CV 21mm finder, but I don't doubt what you're saying. The point was the Ricoh, marketed as "28mm equivalent," could really be a little off from that, and if it is or if you don't know for sure, buying a stock 28mm-for-135-film-viewfinder might not be the best option.

Majestic win.

Nah, it's 28mm for sure. Gandy even says on his site that the 28mm finder is popular on the GR-D.

Hellllll yes. I just won the viewfinder auction, $111 with shipping. Score! It's the 21mm/28mm one... now it looks like I have to get the 21mm conversion lens, lawl.

Thanks for the comments and criticism, dude. I agree about the b-ball shot... it's really hard to get distinctive stuff with sports without really elaborate setups, like crazy remote cameras or bizarre strobes or doing like that one dude on sportsshooter did... shot with an IR-modified Canon D30 and IR strobes. Fucking amazing.

Sir.
Your post has inspired me to convert my D80 into an IR camera.

I'm putting my order in for the IR mirror in as soon as I can (the 15th.)

I'll actually have a use for the damn thing now.
