Ugly model.
Overexposed.
Poor focus.
Motion blur.
>> Anonymous
You should have taken a different color for the background. Blue is not a nice contrast for an Asian girl.

Too much on the shadows and contrast.

Ugly model. - didnt have a choice.
Overexposed. - yep, but thats not a bad thing. if It was correctly exposed, the photo would be to dark.
Poor focus. - mm, she was moving around -.-
Motion blur. - focused perfectly, see above.

Wish I got that without the blur :\

>>262168
Yeah, I wish I did, but at the time I had no control on the situation.

>>262176
Was at a college lecture, the guy was demonstrating what a single-point lightsource was, the pros and cons of tungston light also.

Neither of the two photos were shopped.
>> Anonymous
these are not worth keeping at all

focused perfectly? no it's not
>> Anonymous
Way too much shadows on the left side. I can't even see her face properly.
>> Anonymous
>>262185
So what you learned was
1) Single point tungsten light source sucks
2) Use flash
LOL

Look at the edge of the second photo. the edge is crisp, proving that its only motion, and not a focusing issue.

Just wanted to put a few photos up, fresh from today, to get rid of the gear threads.
>> Anonymous
I like the model. You have some more where her face is more shown?

Yep I know, that was the point of the lighting setup, & couldn't help that.

The task we had was to take photos on film, exposing the shadows, and not the highlights.
(Film works differently to a Digi Sensor when recording the light)

>>262200
Tungsten lighting is terrible, not to mention they get incredibly hot
>> Anonymous
and as we've already discussed here, photos with bad focus are trash-worthy - ALL OF THEM - whatever the conditions were. Sorry.

Still,
>>262162
is not bad at all

Not keepers. Badly done.

i see your education in photography is paying off

You must have done something wrong, because I doubt the professor's point was that LOL SINGLE POINT SUX HAVE FUN TAKING SHIT PHOTOS GAIZ

You're right, only tack-sharp pictures are good. All photographers before the digital age were hacks with no-skill, unlike you and I, here showing our warez on the internet.

i think this is actually a very poorly executed troll thread

lol wut? it was impossible to get sharps images on film?

I didn't say that, you ginormous faggot. Fapping over tack-sharpness came recently though, with less emphasis on composition (which these lack as well)

95% of the "great" photographers rarely relied on sharp focusing to make or break their pictures, tons of HCBs work is remarkably blurry.

The last picture is the best so far, i think you got lucky with that one also because she wasn't looking into the light source, if she was it would have tricked your light meter again.

mm
i like the way the light falls on her clothes in that, but the shadow in the background is ghastly.

None of these photos are of any importance, just took them because I had the chance.

I've only just started working with film in a studio, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the 2 rolls come out. All the shots on them were taken with the shadows exposed.
Apparently the highlights can be burned in, even if the photo was shot this overexposed. (see attached pic)
