Alright /p/, you want more serious crit? Let's do it.

Post a photo that you think is rather good, but with the intention of having us rip it to shreds. You can answer people's points, but don't get defensive if someone doesn't like it.

This diptych:
Study of my grandmother's, a painter's, hands.

A cruise control snapshot. Without knowing the area I can't recommend a bettervantage point though.
The composition is confused, with the center of attention at dead center, despite a possibly appealing feature being right below it (The water -> tide line flow).

The subject of this photo was your grandmothers hands, and they're not even in focus. Doesn't that kind of defeat the point? It's also kind of boring. Honestly if I saw your picture hanging up somewhere I'd probably walk past it without even looking.
>> Haddock !!xREx2m9lgBs
>>210721
Better composition, but still pretty boring. Don't shoot in the middle of the day if you can help it, this would make for a pretty nice sunset shot if you were lower to the ground.
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
>>210713
ho boy

First off the glare on the first image is terrible.

More importantly if the hands are supposed to be the interest find a way to make them pop and be more interesting. Currently the hands are lacking any really interesting texture, shape, or detail which is worsened by the lack of tonal range in them.

You have a bright spot that is puts the image out of balance because it doesn't interact with this rest of image. Your negative space also does not interact with the image at all.

Lose the watch.

Screw any real feedback on the other one. Out of focus hands? Come on man do better than that.
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
>>210716
snapshotish, lacking a interest point or general coolness

Come back near sunset or sunrise, which ever would give you the better side lighting on the rock, and at high tide. Set up a long exposure and you have gold, though frame out that end of the rock in the left of the photo, it is distracting.

The saturation is too high. Which is funny, considering that's probably the only thing you did in post. You screwed up 100% of your post. There's nothing special about your composition. It looks like a snapshot from a viewing tower or something. If I look closely, I can see light beams actually coming from the clouds, giving patches of light on the ground. That is nice, but you managed to make it impossible to see due to the equal saturation and brightness of everything.

I'd like crit on this pic.

DONT PUT HORIZONS IN THE CENTRE.

The clouds are great looking but the bottom 1/3 of the frame is so busy with no particular sense of composition (because there isnt any). Even croppping it out will improve this picture.

With less green the saturation will look ok.

-Learn to save your files for web viewing correctly. Anything over 72dpi is a waste.
-Subject. I know we all have to start somewhere, but the sooner you learn that bad a picture of a flower is worse than a bad picture of a person, the better.
