so, /p/, I just bought a Bessa R on impulse. Pic related.

I've got no idea what the going price for this particular Bessa is, so I may have gotten ripped off, may not have. $348. Either way, I'm happy I guess...I've got a rangefinder now.

Pic related. Lens is a Kiev which may end up being a good or bad thing.

considering that new r2a goes or about $550 id say that you got little ripped off, unless there was good lens with it.

Also what kiev is that?

Jupiter 3, I think
>> sage !i/euDJmWr2

oh, and yeah...I've been looking at an R2A and would have preferred one, specifically a gray bodied one :P

I couldn't really afford to buy one and then have to turn around and buy a lens at the moment too so I jumped on this.

>> $19.99 !OSYhGye6hY
It's not a horrible price. I'd buy one for that.
>> $19.99 !OSYhGye6hY
oh nm i just googled, a new one is like $30 more..

a Jupiter 3 sells for $80-$100, though, so she paid $348 for a used body and that lens, which would be $380 for the body and $80 more for the lens.

So it definately wasn't a deal, but it's a cheaper option for what is basically the same thing.

Is it just me or does sage always act like a faggot the moment someone doesn't agree with him?

Stop being a little bitch, sheesh

Look at the bright side, It looks like Whats-his-name's M4, work of a genius.

'Grats on the buy; you're right not to worry if it was a deal or not. You can't undo it if it isn't (I don't know much about Bessas), just get your money's worth with some good pictures.

>>216758
Jim Marshall. Unfortunately, this still isn't nearly as worn as his and Ms look better than Bessas.

Still, even the ugliest rangefinder in existence looks a hell of a lot better than a Royal Danish Wedding M6 that's never left the box.

who did I disagree with? I said I didn't know if it was a good deal or not, and that I didn't care because I wanted the camera. :)

A Jupiter-3 inherits an awesome design (Zeiss Sonnar) which is not the sharpest, but looks really damn good all the same. If it's in alignment.

The Russians could make some pretty good glass, but the barrels on their lenses really suck so you may have to take that sucker apart and rearrange everything.

I replied to the other rangefinder thread before I saw this one so I hope your RF isn't out of alignment. The earlier Bessas supposedly get knocked out really easily (your R, the R2, my RD-1), so good luck with that.
>> sage !i/euDJmWr2
>>216898
according to the seller it's in alignment, we'll see when it gets here.

It's also useful to remember that Soviet screwmount rangefinders/lenses have a very slight difference in the coupling mechanism from the Leica ones (presumably due to Russians using a mix of Leica and Contax/Kiev elements in the design). It introduces a small focusing error, which usually goes unnoticed - unless you shoot with large-aperture lenses like your Jupiter wide open.

More like $380ish...
If you can find a reputable dealer that sells Bessa R's for $200 then I will post a picture of myself palm facing. Until then, troll harder.
