a film is... gasp... shot on film.
The red camera defiantly has it bugs and has been a pain the ass of the film industry since its release. All these new production co. swoop in a buy these shiney new cameras that sell for 17 grand (just for the body mind you) will spend tens of thousands more on batteries, video monitors, mounts, tripods, matteboxes and LENSES. Its true you can walk out with a RED ready to shoot for under 100 grand and thats why they are so hot right now, because the companies buying dont have to fork over 250-500 thousand dollars on a panavision/aaton/arriflex film camera.
But the things go downhill from there, the RED is brand new in technology compared to film and HD. The workflow is completely different from anything we've seen before... Hell REDcine (the 4K editing software) is even released for testing yet. But all these new production co. are shooting their mouths off about their new REDs theyre over-heating and breaking down all over the place and placing back orders up to a year on prime and zooms lens for better film cameras. No one knows how to use the effectively because essentially they aren't done yet.
