So, I shot a fire this morning. What'd ya'll do?

C&C would be awesome. All taken with my D50 (which I got very worried about, since it was completely covered in waterdrops from the firehoses, but it's fine) and Tamron 17-50, in about 5-10 minutes, which is all I had before the police got there and ushered me off to the police line.

These all deserve to be seen large, btw, the thumbnails don't do them justice. If you want, head over to my flickr for the originals. flickr.com/photos/heavyweather

Last one.

Fire away, /p/

That rainbow's ironic. I like it.

This looks weird, but not really in a bad way. The fireman and the truck look like mini action figures.

Overall, there's too much vignetting which, for me, doesn't really work. But I like the content in these photos.

I shot some crap on my desk that nobody but me cares about.

Maaaaan. Way to make me look lame, Heavyweather.

(Well, you know, *more* lame)

beautifully done. Do want as desktop.

>>114738
crazy perpesctive on this, but it works.

>>114742
the two guys in front are really distracting.. o r maybe it's the pole? something just seems off to me.
>> beethy
first of all, heavy.. this is the first time i'm talking to you as a namefag
just want to say i've been loving your stuff over the past few months.

anyway.

>>114737
the fireman farthest to the bottom right takes away from the overall feel and would probably need to be clone tooled out.
also, clone tool the dark leaves near the top right
otherwise a fucking perfect shot

>>114738
perfect, i'm in love with this shot
i can look at this for ages

>>114740
nothing bad about it, but too dull overall.

>>114741
composition is off, bad framing.. DoF seems not needed. average shot compared to the above

>>114742
my 2nd favorite shot, brilliant.

>>114743
meh, too messy and uninteresting.

overall you did an amazing job, 2 shots are friggen perfect.. i wouldn't mind having my favorite one up on my wall
you kick ass

Freaking Amazing, This is by far the best shot.
Although I like #1 and 2 a lot aswell!

D50 = wicked beater camera, mine has gone through hell and back and at 35,000 shutter actuations is still going strong.

As much as anything, I really like the patterns of lines tying everything together. Works well graphically.
>>114737
This is just beautiful. Although the composition is a little weird.
>>114743
I find the hardhats distracting, due to the deep shadow under them. You can barely tell that they're people.
The others I like, but have no specific comments.

Since I'm just became interested in photography last week I'll just say what I think

>>114742
Absolutely love it. I'm drooling.

>>114743
My least favorite. You did blur them, but with more blur they would be even more distracting my opinion. As an overall dark scene simply the fact that there is white there leads my eye to focus on it...

but omg best photo's I've seen in my first 3 days of lurking!
>> angrylittleboy !wrJcGUHncE
posted too early and didn't see the rest...

>>114742
I find myself looking at the tree more than the firemen. It could just mean I'm gay for that tree, or it could be that it's really a distracting element in the photo.

Another comment- less backs, more faces. But for a 5-10min shooting spree, these are really nice.

This one is my favorite.

Although overall I agree that you got a little carried away with the vignetting.

I'm right there with you about the faces, I wish I could've, but their attention was on that fire. Another reason I wanted the 80-200 my partner was carrying, since I might've been able to get some faces. No luck, though. Maybe next fire!

I wrote a whole response to you, beethy, but anyways, I'm glad you're a namefag now, and I totally agree with your comments! Oh yeah, one thing I meant to say: as much as I would like to clonestamp out some distracting leaves and whatnot, as a photojournalist altering the image to that degree is really just not allowed and is considered unethical, so I won't be doing it.

The vignetting is a bit of an experiment, dunno if I'll take that approach as much. I'll be playing around a lot with my images, since I've got a beast of a machine to do it on! This was just the first attempt. :)
