Need -2 or -1 fill coming from lower left so that we can see eyes, as most people focus on the eyes when they are looking at a picture. Possibly snooted so that it just hits the face and not the neck/body. Then you don't lose the interesting shadows on the couch/body.

Unless you were going for the 'has no eyeballs/sunken eye sockets' look, in which case it is fine.

point well taken. i liked it without being able to see the eyes, which is why i had her looking down towards the lower left of the photo.

as any woman will tell you, the only time people aren't staring at their eyes, is when they are staring at their tits.

so, if you want to have shadows on the eyes, then you need moar tits

the focus is on her nose and jaw line as well as the couch. that's why her arms are covering the front of her, so there's nothing really to get side tracked by, just the idea of shadows at play

What did you use for flash?
>> Anonymous
what kind of lightning you've got?
>> macbeth !p.rX.niGWk
actually it's an alienbee ring flash used as a normal strobe.

I'm really big on dramatic lighting in the studio, and the use of natural light when i'm outside.

but for this photo i didn't trigger the flash, i just used the modeling light (look at the exif data, it's balanced for tungsten, not flash)

I like it, but I think i'd like it more if it was actually pulled back out a bit, and I'd like to see her eye, so a bit more light..

She looks a little crouched, hence why I might like it pulled out more, and the eyes look a little two dark if you want me to relate to the photo... and it doesn't look like you were going for a menacing approach.

right, i would have enjoyed her sitting up a bit more, but i felt like the dramatic lighting + posture + the direction of her eyes and head give that sort of closed / aloof feeling of shyness and uncertainty.

appreciate the input :)

I like this. Our eyes want to be drawn to her eyes, but they are so dark that we immediately begin to wander around the frame. It gives it a restless, uneasy feel. I like the orange of her skirt contrasted with the orange of the couch, it just looks pretty and I like how pale those colors make her skin look. I think its cool and I would let you have sex with my daughters.

For some reason the thumb looked a lot nicer. When I opened it up I really didn't like the way the eyes looked and her pink knees next to her tanned arms.
i also think the expression in general looks a little awkward.
overall the shot is pretty well composed though.

yeah, i didn't retouch it, since if i have to really retouch it, i'm not doing it right in the first place and the makeup artist isn't doing a good job either.

when you look at the photo you should feel like you're invading in someone's space, caught in an intimate moment.
