i just would like to ask the experts in here, what would be a good/cheap lense for a canon eos 400d to take scenery/nature pictures...

Also, cheap depends on your budget but you have to realize lenses, good ones anyway, are at least 300$.

Some of the Tamron and Sigma and cheap primes from that list are 300-500$.

The 18-55 IS (not the kit lens or the USM version, the new one with IS) is quite good. Scenery/nature pictures tend not to mind the slightly slower aperture and benefit greatly from the wide angle and IS.
