What do you think?

the skull is a little uncentered...

Uh... it's awful. Terrible subject, no point, bad framing... yeah.

They even managed to take it a notch further by cutting limbs off.

Why do people bitch about this? A photograph is a slice out of the scene, and having limbs cut off by the frame gives a sense of stuff existing beyond it.

Maybe they're holding hands!

Agreed, it's as worthy as being here as a myspace cam whore is.

Because it makes it look incredibly fucking odd, and if you don't understand that I doubt you'll go very far in the way of portraits.

What's odd about it? It's a photograph. It has boundaries. Anything outside those boundaries will not appear in it.

Things- anything, limbs, whatever- coming up into the frame connects it to the outside. It's more dynamic.

Haha, okay. Enjoy your amputees and bad photographs. I don't need to convince you.

What, did Cartier-Bresson err in this portrait by cutting off his wife's elbow? No.

That's not the same thing as cutting only the hands off so as it leaves you wondering if they even have hands, the arm is coming back into the photograph. Please, if you want to "prove me wrong", find something that relates a bit better.

The key is to make it look like it's on purpose.

HCB's looks like it's on purpose. The OP picture just looks like he can't frame worth shit.

It's a subtle thing.

Well, of course. The OP is just shittily composed all around; any compositional element that looks screwed up isn't going to fly, even something more conventional like layer. I was talking about the general thing of people complaining about limbs being cut off.

Makes the thread more useful to /p/, at least: discussion of composition versus random, uncomposed snapshot.

What the fuck? I took this picture!
I agree it's not good, but I mean shit, it was just a goofy party pic. The real question is, why the hell did somebody post it here? And worse, try and take credit for something obviously terrible? This is weirding me out. Also, what happened to EXIF or GTFO?
