I received my first camera for christmas - olympus fe-290.
Can you guys recommend a good guide for learning how to get the best shots out of a digital camera like this - despite my not very steady hands? :)

Thanks for the links. My very first shots were of this amazing rare fog bank in Ft Lauderdale, Fl lit by full moon with church steeple peeking out about 140 feet up.
I wish I could have started off already knowing how to use it to have captured the scene better. 8^)

I think my cell phone takes cleaner pictures than that. No offense to you personally.

The annoying thing is that it won't let me modify things like shutter speed. The only usefully configurable option seems to be ISO. Here is with ISO 400. The best to my eye for this shot from camera resting on balcony railing with self-timer(non-configurable 12 seconds, yuck) to be sure I don't jostle it. Obviously with no fog or moon now. :)
I should probably read more of these guides instead of experimenting, heh.
