Do you remember when there was talking about how pskaught's look was original and how we shouldn't try to figure out his look, and instead of create our own.

Well anyway, meet Dave Hill.
>> Anonymous
I was referring to pskaught as a one-trick Dave Hill wannabe while everyone was still busy nuthugging him.
>> Sicko !L3HRY/miC.
I think most of /p/ already knows about Dave Hill, I recall a couple of threads about him.

/p/ talked about something before Strobist, how shocking.

pskaught himself admitted that he (i'm paraphrasing here) was basically just ripping off jill greenberg's look. dave hill is also ripping her off. it's just the look of the now. even fucking super smash brawl's cover is pskaughted out for miles. in 10 years, it's going to look hilariously dated, because then we'll all be shooting ultra low contrast or something equally ridiculous.

people liked pskaught because of the content of his photos, not the look.

also, we've discussed dave hill at length before, several times.

Already figured it out long ago.
Copy the current layer, make that layer black and white, set transpercy to vivid colour (if I recall correctly, else I'll look it up again), and set the brightness and contrast up and down, respectevely, untill you get what you want.

I like how Scott admits he is ripping other people off but he was always too much of a faggot to say how he did stuff.

if you were selling photos, you would do exactly the same thing.

>>140629

So why did the shameless thief come here at all then? He steals his ideas from others and then refuses to share on a board designed for people to share. What a faggot.
>> fence !!POey2hdozCZ
>>140632

1) because his ideas and setups weren't ripped off, just the look.

2) we're all ripping off some other great photographer, but most of us just don't know it yet.

3) uh, what? this is a board designed for sharing? and, actually, pskaught posted most of his lighting setups along with every photo, which is way, way more fucking important than whatever photoshop macro he ran his images through. idiot.

LOL. Scott lover rushes in to defend his withered cock. That faggot ran off crying the minute he wasn't being praised. That was why he came here. Since /p/ woke up to him being an egomaniac and faggot he ran away, too scared to show himself again. ANONYMOUS WINS AGAIN.

actually, i was one of pskaught's most vocal and articulate critics. you see, instead of just calling him a faggot and calling his roommate a chink, i took the time to point out that his photos didn't really say anything. he spent an hour and a half setting up the lights, and then just told everyone to make stupid faces. i criticized a lack of maturity and restraint in his photography, and urged him to put down the bong and get to serious business.

Good artists copy. Great artists steal.

...

I just came up with that aphorism by myself, just now.

don't shade your eyes but plagerize!
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL

I had to google what aphorism was...
Also "good" artists don't get caught stealing
Or market themselves as unique
>> Anonymous
>people liked pskaught because of the content of his photos, not the look.

QFT. I actually hate this style, but he used it well, and I dug the way he took this sort of advertising-like style and turned it around by using it in a work offering a critique of consumerism.

>>140646
I've said this in every other pskaught thread, but go and compare his work to Hieronymus Bosch, especially "Ship of Fools." There are aesthetic similarities and they're working in the exact same thematic vein. Pskaught just turned up the comedy dial and removed the supernatural perspective.

So unless you're going to say Bosch just threw some paint on a canvas to make funny faces and demons...

>>140649
I lol'ed.

>>140651
Why should it matter if they "get caught stealing?" Unless they outright copied an entire work, what does it matter if they lifted three or four lines for a poem or whatever? Or what does it matter if they did it better?

And how well artists market themselves has zilch to do with their quality. Who's better, Amedeo Modigliani (selling masterpiece paintings for only a few francs a piece) or Damien Hisrt ($8 Million for a shark)?

ITT Exactly why /p/ fails to live up to its potential.

oh wait this is 4chan...

What potential?

Uh, am I missing something here, how is this a "style" or "look"...........

Look at the OP. Look at pskaught's work. (toasterfoot.houseofsprouts.com/ and impsofmargeandfletch.com) See some subtle differences between the way the photographs look and some pretty severe differences in their overall feel or theme?

Now look at this one, by Henri Cartier-Bresson. See the ginormous difference between how this looks and those?

Yeah, that's the sort of stuff we're talking about.

ok yeah, artfag shit. I like photography because of the technical aspect of being able to record a moment/subject in time, not this gay art shit. and especially not fucking fashion.

OH SNAP! YOU SHOWED HIM!!!!!
HUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRR

enough with the pskaught threads.

from what i gather pskaught does sound like a faggot
ive seen his photos before and wasnt that impressed
>> Anonymous
>>140898
What have you heard? That he "ran away" or some bullshit like that?

He never posted much, at least under his tripcode. I got the impression he lurked quite a bit and posted as anonymous except when posting work or commenting on something where us knowing he's pskaught (e.g. a lighting thread) would be significant.
>> Anonymous
>>140909

i didnt hear anything. ive just seem some of his posts and he seemed like a douche. that's all.

I think you could recall that correctly for me.
Cause what you are saying just doesn't work =)
And I wanted it to work.
