I was looking at the D60 but I decided to save up a little more for the D80. That way I will definitely have room to grow plus some high quality photos with the nice autofocus in the meantime haha

I know Sony has an annoying habit of only making there equipment and accessories upgradeable to special Sony things, is that true for there cameras? That camera looks really nice but I don't wanna get it if you can only use special Sony lenses or something.

whenever anyone aks whats a good beginner SLR make sure to get one with a focus motor, I made the mistake of buying a D40 and then realising I couldn't progress any further as no lenses would focus with it :(

D60 hasn't got one either so stay away from that
get a D80 and if its too much get a used D50/D70 or for canon 400d/1000d?

The more I read about it the more I like that Sony A200.

How about the upcoming Pentax K-m? A simplified version of the Pentax K200D.

Shake reduction in body, ten megapixLOLs, some special AE modes (Sv, Av+Tv) and the Pentax K-mount.

Lacks live preview and the flash syncs at only 1/180th, though.

sony fag here

all camera makers will have their own mounts for lenses: sony has the a mount, which sigma, tokina, etc all make lenses for. There's also an extensive collection of legacy Minolta AF lenses.

the only annoying thing i can think of that sony has on their DSLRs is the iISO hot shoe. Basically, if you're going to buy omgwtf expensive wireless flash triggers, you have to get a tiny little adapter from sony to use them. snore.

tl;dr the a200 is no more locked into to it's own system than any other manufactures.

Virtually every camera company is like that, except for like Sigma/Tamron/Tokina etc.

Aside from all sony/minolta/* flashes for the shoe have inbuilt wireless so you dont need to buy any triggers.
