Just messing around with my dog. Not a real attempt at photography, just a nice photo. :)

Also, i'm getting a Nikon D40, anyone have any experience with this camera at all? Good/bad?

I like the concept, but the carpet looks more in focus than the dog, which distracts and detracts from the image.

D40/Rebel/whatever. The budget range are all very similar, but I would suggest getting the Canon Rebel if you can as it allows for more options and has more features than the Nikon offering. Sony's pretty good and getting stronger and Pentax will likely be nice too for you. Read the reviews and try them out in stores. If you like the feel of one more than others, then go for it. You'll possibly get a ton of brand war comments now from ever fanboy supporting their own brand, but there's the facts for you now from someone who is happy to use more than one brand and owes nothing to any of them.

Thank you verrrrry much. The only other camera I ever wanted to get was the Canon Rebel XTI 350D/whatever. They just don't have it in stock anymore where i'm buying, and i've never got to try it out. I tried the Nikon out the other day and REALLY liked it, but don't really how it compares the the canon ... I've just heard better things from Nikon is all.

Go for the Nikon then if you like it. Seems like a no brainer to me. You shouldn't be disappointed.

It doesn't matter which one you get you'll become a fanboy for that system as soon as the box touches your hands.
