Well /p/, I have 1000$ allotted to buying a new camera. As of right now, I'm thinking of buying a D80. 28-80, 75-300, and a few other lenses come with. What do you think? Grab the D80? Or save some more and wait for something else?

Advice.

Pic related, it's off my shitty PNS that's being replaced.

:D That was my impression too.

Also, a friend of mine has a D80 and he loves it.

Yeah, it's a good camera, especially for a first DSLR. It's always best to grab a prosumer/entry-level for your first. And from the sounds of it you know what you're doing, so post your pictures on here once you get it!

Yeah, I know a bit about photography but I've just never had the money spare to be able to buy a decent camera. The PNS it's replacing is a fairly decent one, I guess, for the price range. 10mp, nice optical zoom etc. However I'm dissatisfied with it's ISO auto-adjusting. The pic in my first post is shot at 1600, way too high for a good CLEAR image on that camera, imo.

28-80 + 75-300? nice but, a little long on the wide edge IMHO... i would get a 18-55 + 70-300 ... I would'nt miss the 55-70 range. If you're getting a D80, you should already know about "crop factor", but in case you don't: a 28-80 lens on your D80 is like having a 42-120 on a 35mm FF camera..
