Dear /p/,
I am doing backup photography for an anime convention this weekend. My father, who is interested in Photography let me borrow his camera.
A few days a go, we noticed black spots on all the pictures (See picture!) We tried cleaning all the lenses, both the removable one and the camera it's self (Sorry, I'm no good with Jargon, I just take pictures)
If there a way to fix this, or should I get it professionally looked at?

If it's digital, it could be dust on your sensor.

Yeah, it's digital.
Is there a way to clean it myself...or should I go to a Camera store and get them to clean it?

yes and yes.
but bring it to a professional if you dont want to fuck it up even more

Yes, there's an option in your camera that will open up the sensor and let you clean it, if not, just do it the old fashion way...set the time to B and hold on to the shutter.

what kind of camera is it? if it's an SLR with interchangeable lens chances are you've got dust inside of the camera, on the mirror if it's film on the sensor if it's digital

what model is the camera?

most of them have the mirror lock up function that lets you blow dust away.

Btw, i strongly recommending you NOT TO clean the sensor yourself, trust me from someone who tried after watching a Nikon DIY video... fuck i nearly cried as i made it far far worse... luckily i just took it to Nikon and they cleaned it for me.

Now if its just dust then use the mirror lock up or set it to a long exposure and put the camera facing down. Get a blower (for gods sakes dont use your mouth or a canister of pressurised air, give it a few blows and it should clear most of it up. Make sure you blow on the mirror to cause sometimes theres dust on that too

I agree with this person, take it to a store to get cleaned. I asked about it and if you leave a dirty lens on the camera they might clean that too. Depends on the store tho.

Probably dust on the sensor.

You definitely want to take this to a camera store and ask them if they can show you how to clean it. Do not attempt this yourself without a demonstration, you can blow up the universe.

Don't take pictures of beaches that has airplanes flying over and little black dots swimming around.

D'uh.

cleaning the mirror won't do anything the mirror is just for the viewfinder..

Dust on the mirror might dislodge and end up on the sensor, putting you right back where you started. If you're already going to the hassle of cleaning the sensor, why not?

Quoted for truth.

Don't mess with crud on the sensor by yourself. If you don't know what you're doing you can royally jack up your camera.

Once saw a camera where someone had tried to clean the sensor by using one of those canned air sprays...it was completely ruined.
