I'd say the photos are a bit bland. If shooting flowers, make sure the flower is very interesting and do something with light to create shadows; use a smaller depth of field and focus on one part to make the shot more dynamic. When shooting trees, don't try to get the whole tree in unless it really adds to the picture. choose a certain part that might have grown in an interesting formation or play with shadows.
