I projected horizontal lines with an lcd projector onto a model. I was going for a sort of 'topography' thing.

Also, this was shot on Ilford 3200 speed B&W film then scanned. Lens was a prime 50 with macro filters.

Zebra lighting has been overdone.

Also, I've been staring at that photo for a few minutes and still can't figure out which part of the body that is.

Well done my young cub. Art is always

Im not sure i like your focus, or the lack of DoF but otherwise its well done.

Art is art, so i dont care about it!

i think there is too much contrast between the black/white lines, and should have highlighted the bodily shape more.

Ah, reminds me of Werner Bischof.

I like it, but agree with Rad - it might have been better if you stepped back a bit and got more in the shot, made it more recognisable at a glance.

OP here: Not sure where your finding fat here, this girl can't be more than 115lbs.
Unflattering composition, I can accept though :-P

The more I look at it, I'm sure you're right, she's likely not that chub at all. I suppose this is just the side-effect of focusing so intently on one small part of the overall form... little things like that roll of perfectly normal roll of fat (normal for anyone not anorexic, at least) tend to get magnified when you, well, magnify them like you're doing. Like the others suggested, try getting a little further back this time, or if you're going to get this close, have her in a more amenable pose.

dunno, i think curved produced by the fat do well with the lighting, makes the stripes amorphic

If anything it's probably just untoned muscle.

Nice photo... personaly i love it for the exact reason heavyweather thought she was chunky...

The lines follow her skin in a very unflattering mannor.... normal shots like this are done to put every effort into making the model a stick... its nice to see it natrual for once, bravo!
