So /p/, while my poor, poor DSLR is in the shop getting fixed, let's talk about other equipment. What do you use for flashes if you're taking pictures on the move, thus making portrait-style lighting impossible?

You're fucking kidding, rite?

uh why?

strongest flash ever made for nikon

Hay, OP here. I'd probably be into something more compatible with my Olympus camera. It is a good flash though.
>> sage !i/euDJmWr2
Available lighting usually? Contrary to popular belief, flashes don't make everything better.

>>206450

sure it does

only noobs who don't know how to set up proper lighting say that

>>206453
Setting up lighting =/= "on the go". Fail harder.

>>206459

rofl, yeah

you don't know how to use a flash

I don't? How in the hell do I manage to use a Sunpak 383 manually when I need to, then?

Get over yourself. I don't use high-end strobes because I can't afford them and don't have access to any, but I use continuous lighting pretty often and I understand lighting just fine, thanks.

Read the OP's question and then drop the little act of superiority.

"What do you use for flashes if you're taking pictures on the move, thus making portrait-style lighting impossible?"

Portrait-style lighting? You mean there's only a single type of portrait lighting? Because I'm pretty sure that's not the case. What do I use for a flash when I'm on the move? Usually nothing because if I'm "on the move" then I'm probably shooting street or just don't really need it. Available lighting is just fine for stuff like that and creates more mood if used properly than any rushed lighting setup you could muster "on the move"

Go ahead and prove me wrong, post some RELEVANT information on portable lighting solutions. Until then, quit assuming I don't know anything about lighting because I said knowing how to use available light is going to be more useful than expecting a flash to solve all of your exposure problems.

Probably, I don't mind admitting I feed trolls more often than I should though.

yeah

be your master of photography at using natural light

instead of shaping and controlling the light yourself

you don't know shit about lighting, sorry

ITT, faggot doesn't know shit about lighting but is a master at going manual with a Sunpak 383 when they need to

Why don't you try just a _little_ harder?

Guess Henri Cartier-Bresson was a noob. He never used a flash, and like many people, preferred available light.

don't have to when you say gems like this

Offtopic: What was the name of that flash bounce/diffuser set up? It had cards you could adjust the angle of and stuff? I can't remember the name of it and I was looking to get one. Doh.
>> Anonymous
>>206537
That's not a gem. Using a flash and getting the correct exposure requires you to know at least something about how lighting and strobes work.
>> sage !i/euDJmWr2
>>206531
You didn't know? HCB was a total amatuer, real photographers can only take good pictures when they are in control of the lighting. Durr?
