Hey /p/, so currently I am unemployed. I have had the same job, though at different employers, for the last six years. The job is not a bad job, but I really want to work in photography, and I do think that I have the aptitude.

I am 22, have no formal background in photography, no schooling etc. just my own experimentation/reading, like a lot of you. So it's a hard place to start from.

Recently replied to a craigslist ad about digital retouching/studio assistant, went in for a interview today, it was quite brief, but I feel it went well. She informed me that she would be sending out a test file for editing.

Got home and had a message inbox.

"Hi again Chris,

It was great meeting you today! As we may have mentioned in the interview we have had a number of great applicants and we are having trouble making our decision on who to go with. This editing test will help us make our final decision.

I have attached an image here that was taken in our studio and needs to be edited. If you could please do your best editing job, keeping in mind that we are a fast paced studio and ask our retouchers to be able to edit a photo in 15 min or less.

Below are the things that need to be edited;

>The background needs to be a clean white, making sure there is still separation between the subjects and the background.
>The lines on the floor must be whited out
>The subject must be brightened to appear sharper/crisp
>Remove blemishes ( nose boogers if any :) )
> Eyes must be brightened subtly

I think you did a pretty nice job...

What do you think about that barely visible block behind and between the two kids, kinda by the girls knee/foot? You think that would be better out of the picture?

Goodluck getting the job..

haha perhaps..

but it's too late now!

Tried to be efficient with it as she mentioned average time/photo, of course I took longer, but wanted to make an example of my efficiency... Though I am unsure if the .psd sent, I sent each image individually just to ensure she got at least the .jpg

I was skeptical 24mb .psd file sending... it shows online as sent, but not in my computer mail program which I sent it through o_o

Shoulders are a little bright, that's all.

Well, it's kinda hard to separate them from the background as they were wearing white...

baby still fat!

I would have left a line of separation between their shoulders and the background in addition to hiding the bags under the baby's eyes a bit but other than that you did a nice job.

Hi again Chris,

I'm not surprised to see you're browsing 4chan. Unfortunately we can't afford to have our employees to post our costumers picture on the internet. I'm sorry to inform you the risk of hiring you is to high.

Have much fun browsing /p/!
