Dear /p/,

I have an Topcon RE Super. It has some problems. Currnetly I have film loaded into it, so I'm wary of just opening it up.

My question is this (I'm not good with nomenclature, so stick with me here): When I go to take a photo, I set the exposure and everything, then I hit the shutter button. Usually, it doesn't fire. I can still see a very dark and blurry image through the view finder. This can be worked around by pulling the depth of field knob down, then taking the picture within the minute. After that, my problem changes. I have to hit the timer knob down a little, because the curtain will not close unless I do this. Once I do that, the view finder gets an image, and I can go about doing the whole thing over. Something tells me that this is not how the camera is supposed to work.

I should also point out that I've read the manuals.

I know nothing about that camera, but your best bet is probably taking it to a camera repair place. Was it CLA'd before you bought it?

I didn't buy it, but I got it so long ago I couldn't tell you.
