ITT Pics of the moon.

WOW!

How was that taken?

Every time the moon is out i get my biggest lense ut and try to photo it; but all i ever get is bright white ball, no matter what exposure length i use.

Even on AV setting i just get a dark moon, with teh crators and proper mood look, but its still pretty small and needs some heavy photoshopping to make it nice.

What size lens are you using?

Also, bump for lunar eclipse photos from last night.

To be honest, I found that pic in some website >_>

I'd like to see some other photos of the moon, with or without other landmarks please. :P

Have you tried very short exposure lengths? E.g., 1/100th of a second or less?

This photo was almost certainly taken using a telescope. I myself have a telescope that acts as a 1200mm f/5 lens. The photo is false-color though.

Coincidence, I just took a bunch of moon photos.

200mm on a 3x teleconverter on a 1.6x crop sensor (I think).

Like this? Yeah, the moon is far brighter than you'd think, try some really short exposure lengths.

Although if you want the clouds, you need a long one. I guess it's impossible to get both in the same shot.

You'll find with something like the moon using a faster shutter speed and higher F stop, depending on the brightness will show the detail in the moon without motion blur, with slow enough shutter speeds the moon moves fast enough that it will blur even on a tripod.

I usually hate pictures of the moon, but the op's one is fantastic.

Pity it's gone though.

Eh. I'd bet a nickel it wasn't actually the op's. And anyway, it wasn't that great--it was just a clear shot of the moon, as could be taken by anyone with access to a telescope and an adapter to attach his camera to same.
