My camera, I hate Anonymous
I got this here ViviCam 8300s for Christmas from my family. The thing is neither my family or myself are very photo-savvy, at least with digital cameras.

Now despite my lack of knowledge, I get the felling that this camera is a bit on the shitty side. It does have 8.1 megapixels, but it can't seem to take a decent picture. Colors are always dulled, espcially in the sky, and every picture needs to be retaken three times due to blur. It even blurs while on a tripod.

So is this camera worth anything? Am I doing something wrong? Cheap alternatives?

Also, out of curiosity, how do you attach EXIF data to your posts here?

EXIF data is created on your photos as you take them. Here on /p/, some script is used to have it readily accessible. You don't have to do anything special to make it available. As long as the image has EXIF, then it will be posted on the board.

As for your camera issues, it could just be the camera. Technically, any p&s should be easy enough to use. Press button. Receive picture. Whatever sensor they have in there might not be too good or even the lens itself might have defects. Whatever it may be, you have a product that you are unhappy with. Chances are that your only option is to scrap it a new one, or settle for the quality that this one outputs. I'd heavily suggest the first option. It just shows you that megapixels isn't everything when buying a digital camera.

Anyway, very good quality digital p&s cameras from Nikon and Canon can be bought for under 200 dollars. Go check them out.

Thanks for the advice. I've been considering getting a new one for a while now, but simply haven't. I think I will sign up for that photo class second semester, now.

I was considering taking a HS photo class, and then I realized, it's going to be a HS photo class. I've learned enough from /p/ to forget anything the teacher would have to say.

Seriously just lurk around here for a while, take some pictures with the camera, get EVERYTHING you can out of it, then invest in more. Usually, theres some very helpful tripfags/anons who will answer any and all questions. And in all cases, it's sound advice from experience. Everyone started out with shitty P&S "X".

Sometimes you can go into the camera settings (either on your computer while the camera is connected, or on the camera itself) and turn it to different "modes." The instruction manual should be helpful in telling you how to switch modes, and if you use the right mode for the right setting, your pictures will turn out better.

Alright. I don't have to decide weather to take the class until next semester anyways, so I'll just lurk until then and decide. The highschool course dosen't cover digital cameras, so I'm sure I can learn something here no matter what.

I've tried all the setting I can find and read through the manual. It has minimal impact on picture quality. I think the camera is just shitty.
