Hello photo-peeps, I have been thinking of buying a cheap older model analog system camera. What are your faves? what has a decent array of lenses that go for cheap since they won't fit newer cameras?

I realize this is probably a common question, but sine I never lurk here, bear with me. damn pic posting, I will f00 it up with a pic from my crappy camera phone.

I'm a big fan of the Minolta manual-focus system. I got a MC Rokkor-X PG 50mm f/1.4 for $20 because nothing since the 80s has used manual-focus Minolta lenses.

Also: MC Rokkor-X PG would be a great name for a rapper.

Bronica SQ or ETR are great price/quality points. As is Pentax 645 and 67 and Mamiya 645.

For 35mm, I think the best deal out there is Yashica manual focus. The camera bodies are dirt cheap and excellent quality, and the lens mount is compatible with Contax so you have your choice of extremely inexpensive but still quite good Yashica lenses or superb quality Zeiss/Contax. The ones to get are the manual focus bayonet mount. The newer autofocus bodies are marginal and the screw mount is pretty dated, and both lose compatibility with Contax lenses which is a huge plus in my opinion.

See

This tends to suggest that medium format's out. Especially medium format that's still being produced, which I think applies to the Pentax 67 and maybe the others (though I don't really know from medium format)

Bronica's out of business.

I don't see how that would rule out medium format at all. There are lots of cheap lenses, especially for Bronica, Pentax, and Mamiya bodies. Another option is Pentacon/Exakta/Kiev which use Pentacon 6 mount lenses, almost all of which can be had for less than $100 each.

stop trolling me, anyway look into the minolta dynax system as its been bought by sony so you can get old lesnses for dirt cheap or get new carl ziess lenses for $LOL and the A700 is shit hot amazing.

1. Didn't we just figure out a few days ago the A700 rapes raw files? That's nothing against the A100, but it totally negates buying the A700 for most serious photographers.

2. Why would new products being available in a system make it cheap? He's looking for an old FD mount camera or something like that.

I duno about that noise issue i still havent had a chance to look at an A700 properly yet.

Anyway you are right and i remembered a lot of the new lenses arnt full frame so they would be useless on the 35mm stuff. Anyway minolta are technically out of buisness and their older stuff is dirt cheap.

I don't think we actually proved that it rapes RAWs. We had an unsubstantiated claim that it does. I'm sure if it really did, there would be a lot more noise about it around the Internets.

Best way to deal with someone trolling you: ignore them completely.
