I want to get into photography but I dont know much about cameras etc. The only time I've used one was with my friends Nikon D40. What do you guys recommend? Ive seen the Canon Rebel XSi and that looks pretty cool to me.

dude, we get 100's of these every week so dont be surprised if /p/ isnt jumping to offer up ideas.
were not like /o/ who are psychotic over one specific brand... though it can get bad sometimes...

go to a camera store, play with each model within your price range and see how it feels. how are the button interfaces, menus.
what kind of deal can you get on a multi lens kit, they are ideal for beginners such as yourself...
also look at getting a 50mm f/1.8 as a good low light/DOF practice lens. each brand has there own and are renowned for being cheap and still produce good pictures from reasonable apertures.

get to know the technical side to, not only does it help you win /p/ battles but will help you understand what your camera is doing and how you can get the desired result.
