Your camera has more WB range than CS3 RAW editor, Set the WB manually and shoot JPEG's for the best range.
Capture NX has way more WB range but its slow as hell. Lightroom is also limited.

Other than that, the red / blue swap = my first step, if it looks good I continue, otherwise I just convert to B+W.
