So in tonight's thunderstorm, I FINALLY was able to snap some lightning in action. Bulb exposure + lucky timing.
Who else has managed to photograph lightning?

Never did, but I think you'll have a better shot outside.

you can see the mesh and the side of the window. pic posted before but it was also taken through a window, so you can see it can be done so you dont see the mesh. theres really no excuse to having the window in the frame though.

Took a good (read: lucky) shot a few years ago. Was on 35mm and is at home, somewhere. Would share otherwise :\

While true, it was also pouring it's ass off.

Well... My excuse is, I wasn't looking through the eyepeice. The window is too low to my bed to have enough room to sit like that.
Also, the most prominent obstruction is a curtain... damn things wouldn't stay out of frame with the wind, eheh.

Not too concerned about composition, though. Just happy I finally got it, heh.

Only time I ever got a pic of lightning and my finger got in the frame. Dammit!

This was taken just a couple days ago. The storm was in the afternoon, hence the shitty contrast, but the worst part was the god damn dust on my ND 8 filter. I was shooting and didn't notice it in the LCD until it was too late.

I caught a few while in Dallas last summer.

I just sorta held the shutter and let it run through, took the card inside pulled out the good ones, and repeated. Not exactly the smartest way, but definitely making usage of a digital advantage over film.

I was even able to make a few gifs too... http://www.judsonian.com/g2/v/texas06/thunderfun/?g2_page=2

So much of this could have come out better, but I thought it was a nifty shot considering it looks like daylight when it was taken well after midnight.
