hey /p/.
me again...bothered you a week ago when I asked you about the Panasonic dmc-fz50. I'm still quite interested but i heard also what some said about going all the way to reflex. I came across the canon eos-350d which apparently is quite old but seems ok and in the same price range. So what /p/ thinks? Is the canon evolutive? Is the "starter" enough or should i expect other depenses if i pick it over the panasonic?

For starters, a second-hand 350D is cheaper than a FZ50.
On the other hand, to get the same zoom range (35-400/420mm) you're gonna have to spend waaaaay more money for a lens on your 350D.

I'm not really comfortable about second-hand. It's about the same for a camera than for a car..If you don't know jack about the hardware then you can get screwed and i'm not really the trusty kind :(
I'd probably prefer buying second hand lenses [easier to spot problems] or a camera later, when i'll know more about that :)
as for the zoom, I'm thinking of doing mainly landscapes and cities so I don't really know if 12x zoom will come in handy? :s

Well then you should be glad a camera is not a car. The gearbox can't exactly wear out. You can spot a defect in a camera rightaway, and it's probably easily fix'd.
Also: For landscapes the FZ50 kinda sux. It does have this awesome software called Panorama Maker 3. Does pretty neat stuff. But, for awesome landscapes you kinda need an SLR with a 10-20mm lens.
