Sup, decided to post something after a long lurker break.

So here's something fresh; a little bit different take on figure photography.

Looks good. You definitely did a great job with lights!

Subject's kinda boring though. My general thought is that pictures of other people's art is rarely art in and of itself...

Yes yes, boring, I agree. But you should be able to appreciate simply how beautiful it look, or just how perfect it is from a technical standpoint.

Personally, I don't see /p/ as an art gallery, but as a lounge where photographers hang around.

Sho'nuff.

Just sayin'. Would be better if the subject were more interesting.

It's great from a catalogue or fansite perspective but you're right

OP, if you're taking pictures of art you have to do 4x the work to make it your own.
The lighting is fine but not dramatic. If it were high contrast with some spots or something, I dunno. Get crazy~

Didn't really focus on making it as [my] art. The image actually came out of sheer coincidence while I was exercising on taking catalog photographs with a set of studio flashes.

Of course, from such a view, I should get a nicer background with a cloud-style texture (as well as a bigger place to do it, rather than on a kitchen table).

I hope to get a big backdrop so I can start taking some portraiture!

Asadf, of course I managed to pick out the crappiest picture from the set with the worst contrast, oh well. Going to parse through them when I get home from work. In the meanwhile, here's a picture of the setup.

As catalog-type photography, it's great. So, good job.

I got my backdrop (which I don't get to use nearly as much as I'd like, 'cause usually I'm going to where the photos happen rather than subjects coming to me) from Amvona.com for pretty cheap.

Here's a little contrastier shot, same backdrop as in the OP.

Awesome, thanks! Checked out some of the backdrops they have on sale and instantly saw a few I'd like to try out. I wtf'd at the insane rebates they're having at the moment.

I really don't like the colour of the background. It makes the whole picture boring.

In this pic the background works much better, due to the colours of the figure.
