meh, not bad, i suppose kinda boring tho

trying too hard to get the pretentious artistic vision effect by positioning fruit and photographing it. still lifes piss me off. it's a personal thing.

anyway i wish you'd have drawn more attention to the color and shape of your lonely banana by dimming the background and highlighting the subtle matte sheen that banana skin has so the fruit had a higher contrast and stuck out more with regards to the fancy-pants banana holder that dominates this shot too much. also the space between the 'nanner and the holder looks a little like a curved ween0r. O_o

I agree with the others. It's not that it's bad. But it can be done better. Try to shift the focus on the banana, if infact you want to call this 'the last hanging banana.' Angle the banana more towards the camera and the holder itself towards the back so it does not attract too much attention. The base is attention enough.

I think that's just you.

"pretentious" - yes I know what you mean. I am an artist but not the "artsy fartsy" black cloths and beret EMO kind.

actually I took the pic an a spur of the moment flash of inspiration as an attempt at mocking the "pretentious artistic vision effect by positioning fruit and photographing it"... I emailed it out to my circle of friends as a joke... got some good laughs out of it.
took me about 2 minutes to clear off the kitchen counter, slap the holder w/ banana in position and snap off a few pics... did slight crop and levels adjust and slight blur FX around the edge in iPhoto (another 2 minutes) and that's about it... I don't have the patience anymore to spend hours n hours "making art"...

nice that I got at least a notice here in /p/ tho' ;o)

this was the first pic I took - blue haze/tint was due to having camera settings all messed up... dunno what was going on there...

after this pic I turned it to the position U see in the OP...

personally I hate still lifes, always dreaded doing them in art school (I was an illustration major)... that's why this was just for a joke for me and my friends (and /p/ I guess)...
