all the f-series are about as durable as each other. it's just a matter of preference, and more importanly, what kind of lenses you have. in my opinion, the F5 has a better viewfinder, plus autofocus. it's fucking huge, though.
the F3 is smaller and has a split-prism focussing for manual lenses, but it won't accept modern G lenses and can't autofocus.
if your lenses are all manual (and i'm guessing most are, since you're an oldschoolfag and still shoot film), get an F3. otherwise, get an F5 (or consider an F100, which has more features than the F3, less than the F5, costs in between and weighs much less). .
