Dear /p/.

I'll be doing an erotic photoshoot next saturday. It's my first time, any ideas on photographs / compositions / best shutter/aperture times? I'll most likely be using a mini-tripod.

For the love of everything holy, resize and maybe even buy a new camera.

"best shutter/aperture times"

HAHAHAHA
advice: cancel the shoot, don't put your girlfriend through that shit only to end up with crappy photographs that make her look uglier than the actually is.

do it when you're a good photographer

This information will come at a price. That price is posting the pictures on here before you get our advice.

girl on right i think isn't too bad ^^
btw, was that taken with a cellphone camera?

anyway, i will try to offer some really basic advice as none of these wankas will even try.
i actually suck at photos of ppl, so i dunno about composition and what not, but one thing i can answer is aperture setting, best to go nearly full wide open, (ie small fstop number) this should hopefully attract detail on the subject in question and blur out the background giving a nice pleasing look.

What gear are you using etc etc. How can we help if you tell us nothing!

Okay, first off, you'd better post the pics in /s/ and toss us a link when you've finished.

Suggestions:
1. Use a wide aperture. Since you don't seem to be too much with the knowing-what-you're-doing, smaller numbers = wider aperture. This will put the thing you're focusing on in sharp focus and everything else blurry to a greater or lesser extent.
2. If you do that, and it's a shot of her face, for God's sake focus on her eyes. Lots of otherwise good closeups of women's faces are ruined because the camera focused on the closest point--i.e., in-focus nose, blurry eyes.
3. If she has any inkling of a double chin, shoot her face from above. Avoid poses that accentuate any "flaws" in her body, unless that's specifically what you're going for for some reason. Watch out for skin bunching out and looking flabby in places other than her neck, too.
4. Make her smile. Don't just tell her to smile, actually make her smile. Joke with her. Make her feel at ease.

Really, the technical details in this sort of photoshoot are far down the list of what's important. Keeping your model at ease and posing her to make her look her best is a much bigger deal.

Also: My girlfriend's coming to visit me today, so I'll be doing some of this myself. I'll be sure to post anything artistic she'll let me.

She better be smiling when you stick it in her pooper!

>Watch out for skin bunching out and looking flabby in places other than her neck, too.

I disagree with this. So long as it's not some huge roll of fat, skin bunching can be visually interesting and sometimes quite erotic.

And protip: every woman who isn't an anorexic supermodel has bunch-spots. I know a woman who is always a size zero, naturally, and in great shape, and she even has a few bunch spots.

HAHAHAHA Times was ment at the word shutter before apperture. I indeed messed up typing, but I'm not a dumbfuck. Also, this picture was NOT taken with my camera, it's just the only picture I've got of her here.

to all that díd help: Thanks for the tips. Chances will be that I won't be able to post most of it or even none, but I'll ask. No is a no though.

@ ac: Please do post them, I might learn from them.

Oh, I agree. I just mean look out for it. If you're not careful, a perfectly thin girl can bend in such a way that she looks fat--at least to herself, if not to rational people.

It's *vitally important* to make sure that the lady looks good *to herself* in all of the pictures. Otherwise, she'll feel bad about herself and won't let you take more.

DO WANT

Don't be afraid to look for the abstract form. Don't over-light it. Try working with silhouettes, available light, shadows, that sort of thing.

Get close. Then get closer. Be fearless, but respectful. Take it slow, make sure your model is comfortable, maintain your composure, stay professional.

Thanks! Really useful tip. I have a IR filter lying around, might try it out! Never knew it could work so well.

unless you are going for some sort of portrait of her, don't keep a her body entirely in frame. Always have something that goes outside the frame, it gives the image a more expansive feel.

98% of photographs are taken from between 5' and 6'6". In other words try lying down on the floor or stacking a chain on a table to get a higher angle. This is a general rule for decent photography but I feel it is especially important in nude photographs since you want to capture the human form (or some abstract aspect) which is inherently a rather dynamic thing.

Oh and make sure you have a decent backdrop and props ready. Start thinking ahead to poses you might want and what things you will need.

angles. (that's a /b/ meme in case you're an adult.)

also, eyes are like diamonds. you must light them to see the fire.

First of all.. you need to make the models feel comfortable, and more important let the poses be more natural than practiced, use soft lightning so you get a nice skin tone and texture.

Go close, and don't overframe the pictures...

4. Make her smile. Don't just tell her to smile, actually make her smile. Joke with her. Make her feel at ease.

And one personal important comment...

Don't try to take extremely erotic pictures, take pictures in a more artistic way that denote a sexual and erotic meaning... You can get porn everywhere in the Interweb. Why should you waste a nice chance on more porn?

Ignore this poster. What is "art", after all?
Take some vagina macros and post them here. If you want more art, convert to greyscale.

some tips, forget the tripod, instead experiment with position, angles and distances. since youre using a dslr you cans does that. even with the shutter time and the aperture.
but best don't think about the technical things while working. get the mood you want, create an atmosphere. and don'T start right away with the nudism. let the person start with at least something to cover with, and things will come almost by themselves. most people will feel uncomfortable at first. i've hat very few who were ok with nude from the beginning and undressed themselves totally.
at last, keep calm and no touchy stuff ^_^
