Considerably better than what we tend to see of zoos on /p/

I like the first 2 the best because the seem to be more about that particular animal itself than the other photos, though on aesthetic principle I want to like the flamingo as well. You also managed to avoid the problem that plagues most zoo photographers in that you payed attention to composition and not just photographing the animal.

It looks like you figured most of the tricks out, but here's the old Zoo guide thread anyway.

actually, i read your zoo guide when you first posted it and pretty much followed it exactly

to say the least i admire your work and find your threads to be, more or less, worthwhile

thanks for your input! this is the first time i've done zoos and the second time using this lens. i plan on working more and more with it and nature/animal/wildlife photography in general, i just love it

These are rather nice.

another nature photog on /p/? :D

Also it's incredibly satisfying that see that someone listened to decent advice from /p/. Always kind of wonder if it's worth posting because you never see anything come of it.

which of the 300's did you yoink for your 30D?

sigma 100-300 f/4 EX HSM et cetera. bought it off ebay and it's really used but, with the live.com cashback deal i got it for 1/3 retail price, so i can't complain. works great and i'm more than happy with the results

few more, they aren't as good as the first few. this one is rather blurry imo...

and not enough contrast in this one. but i still like it because of the positioning

get any word back from canon about your 30d and lens?
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
>>295378
430$ for the two, which is less than I expected

>>295374
Again you are focusing on composition, which is good. Shame the focus being off though. Also darken the pupil in the eye, and maybe the line under the eye as well if you want to make it more striking.

i will try that for the flamingos, thanks for the advice!

i'm off to bed now, perhaps i will post more tomorrow

keep on shooting

These are certainly above average for zoo shots, I feel. Well done.

after this, my friend and i went to a beach to catch the sunset. this is a quick and dirty pano i took. he stuck to HDR, and though i must say i personally dislike HDR photography, his stuff wasn't that bad. it probably helped that his camera has auto-bracketing

word of advice: don't use a telephoto lens to try and get a shot of the sunset hand-held. it looks cool but man... my eye hurt

1) buy nearly any Pentax DSLR
2) set your camera to auto-bracketing
3) ????
4) profit
