aside from the messed up/faked exif?

contrast/saturation both too low.

Exposure Time 121.9 sec?

Look at the water. That looks like a 2 minute bulb exposure to me, yeah.

Also, ISO50 and f/22.

used the ISO expansion
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

Yeah, I'm just saying that ISO50 + f/22 means that a 2 minute exposure makes a lot of sense, especially if it was dark out.

The tonemapping is off and you combined images with highlights blown, can't recover that no matter how hard you try.

Next time check the histograms.

I don't see any sign of tone mapping or blown highlights. It looks like a properly exposed photo to me, just with flat lighting and no contrast.

To OP, reshoot with more dynamic lighting.

2 minute exposure.

If the dynamic lighting is moving at all, it will lose its dynamism from the 2 minute exposure.

If the dynamic lighting is holding put, it will massively overexpose the spot it falls on over the course of the 2 minutes.

also, maybe rule of thirds that shore

Check the EXIF, notice how in the part that reads 'Number of Bits Per Component' it says 16, 16, 16?

It means there were three images, and you obviously haven't seen enough properly tonemapped shots. The Sky blow out in the first shot isn't the kind of blow out you get with normally exposed shots.

It's a Tonemapped image.

n00b question:

What is a "tonemapped" image?
Is that like HDR?

Actually I think if he's shooting raw (and doesn't lower the image to 8 bit for web use) it will show that message in the EXIF. The "per component" doesn't mean that there were three images, it means that each of the red, green, and blue channels are in 16 bit mode.

Pro tip: JPG is 8-bit

Pro tip: 1D II N is 12-bit.

OP here

i export as 16bit through capture one hence the 16bit

Reduce exposure time. If the lighting didn't suck, he probably wouldn't have needed a 2 minute exposure. You can get the same effect with the waves with a 5-15 second exposure, and it's rare for lighting to even change enough in 2 minutes to blow the scene.

Additionally, by dynamic lighting I mean lighting that isn't flat, uniform, and colorless. Not necessarily lighting that is completely changing every second. Like the golden hour.

Except JPG is a 8 or 12-bit format.. sure.
