Hello /p/
Im sorta new at photography and all but seeing as this board isnt really as random and full of bullshit as /b/ im really hoping for some answers here. so thanks in advance for all the help and info.

I started to get into photography more seriously than i have ever before. and really all my photos are mediocre by any standard but i want to learn to get better. i know my way around a dslr quite okay. but i AM still a newbie at it. For a while I've been using my school's Nikon d50. and i really like how it operates and i was thinking of getting one. but since i really haven't used any other cameras before the d50, (other than crappy digicams) I really don't know what makes a good camera good and a bad camera bad.

And now, I come to you with my predicament. Im getting a camera soon and i want one that i can start using now and still be able to use while and even after i learn how to use it properly.

so what do you recommend /p/ ?

Op here.
forgot to mention... the d50 IS my first choice, so yeh... HELP!!!

D50's a good camera, even if it's getting a little old. If you want Nikon, you could get one for cheap. Otherwise, I know there are a couple threads going around right now about beginner-level dslr's.
Better than asking about gear is to post some of your photos.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

The D50 is outdated and not even that cheap, even if you do find one as new or in good condition. Just get a modern budget camera and get a much better camera with more features for the same sort of price.

Thanks, will look around for them post, some of my photos will be up soon, all i really do for photography is scenery (trying to use the photoshop "convert to HDR automation as much as i can) and trying to get into model shots. will post soon! THNX AGAIN!

...well... it's true innit? i mean.. it's named random for a reason.

canonfag here, if you're already used to nikon's system there isn't much use in switching.

I don't know what models are affected but there's some faggotry going on with nikons AF compatibility so watch out for that.

If you post really obvious HDR, you will get flamed. /p hates anything that is overshooped.
Better make sure it's a damn good photo before posting it as HDR.

Op here again.. here's a photo that i took with my school's d50
unfortunately all my photos that actually show what i try to do most of the time are stuck on my Psp. This photo i took for a friend of mine's website. he started to do a lot of shirts and decided it was time to sell online. this is one of the better shots.

good then.. i try to avoid photo shopping pictures as much as i can. i believe in taking good photos and leaving it to that. this way i actually learn how to take photos instead of taking crap shots and shopping them to look good.. that isnt what photography is to me.

Troll?

use the hell out of a point and shoot. Don't upgrade to a dslr until you've been seriously using your point and shoot to its full abilities for a year or two.
