/p/, my lense won't focus. It's a 15 year old Nikkor 28-85. Going to take it for repairs soon but was wondering if this is a common problem or if it has a simple solution. I'm a newbie photographer and this is my only lens to the right (that's at the pawnshop I bought it at).

Okay, so sage this thread if it has no point and let it die. Just wanted to consult with you guys in case it does have a simple fix.

Haven't dropped it at all. Worked fine for three months then one day I pulled it out the case and it won't focus. Could it be cause of its age? cause I'm considering visiting the pawn shop again and picking up another old Nikon to steal it's lense. They have tons there for 50-80 bucks.

steal a prime this time, like the 105mm or 35mm 1.8 or 85mm

I'll try and get something like that then, I figure it would probably be as much or less than the repair. I only got this one cause I didn't know much and it seemed reasonable.
