Just got a Canon XTI rebel for my birthday.

Prob a stupid question, but how do I get the image to appear on the screen? All I see are settings and i've hit most of the buttons.

You can only use the viewfinder on the XTI. One of the downsides between that and the D40x IMO.

You take a picture with it, and then look at the screen.

...

neither the XTI or the D40x use the LCD screen for images.

i smell troll ... are you serious?
if so: the xti has no live-view. if you just wanna take a glance at what you just shot, press the "play"-button (but automatic review should anyway be enabled by default)

The picture should appear on the screen after you've taken a picture, even if the display is turned off.

ok.. i realized that this E05 doesnt hav view-live.
but anyway, the photos im trying to take are turning out blurry... where's the zoom buttons???
Also, my E05 XTi rebel doesn't have that big long telescope looking thing like in that photo.. its just a whole with a square mirror inside. Do I need to get a telescope attachment if i want to take photos of birds that are far away?

Try harder next time.

ugh, not this shit again

You can easily fix your blurry pics by drilling a series of holes in the square mirror. You have to use a 1/4" bit because anything larger would ruin the camera. Find the exact center of the square and drill a hole. Then drill four more in each of the corners. With the added holes, you will be able to focus on birds miles away.

Who would ever waste their money on primes when you could buy super zooms. I wish they had something like the 28-300 that didn't cost so much, its not like the lens matters anyway when you have like a 12mp camera. And fuck manual mode, cameras are so smart today that they do everything for you in green box mode.

is a 3/8" bit ok? that's all I have at home..
I could ask my uncle to do it for me cos he is a carpenter..
I'll be back soon cos my little brother just ran off with my E05 txi rebal with his friends to go burn ants with the mirror.. i have to catch him quick before he does anything stupid, like yesterday when he was blinding his friends with the flash.

OP do not drill a hole in your mirror; it will just wreck the viewfinder.

Go to the store and ask for a "Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 lens" and buy it. Ask the guy to show you how to put it on your camera. Then your camera will work just fine.
