Hey /p/, a relative is in the US at the moment and I generally have trouble buying shit (gear) over here. This person could bring me something small.

What are your thoughts on graduated ND filters? What weight or stop value should I ask for? 2? 4?

Also, would hand-holding one of these give me much trouble?

Nope, holding them would be quite easy, they're just circular cut glass, maybe 1 or 2 grams. They'll easily fit in your pocket too.

Well, I'd rather keep it in a sleeve than a pocket hehe but I see what you mean.

What kind of stopping should I get though? Is the one I linked good for most situations? (can only get one)

Depends what you're using it for and how you're going to use it, if you're just going to stick in on a tripod, might as well get 4, otherwise i guess 2 would do you fine.

you're going to need AT LEAST 5 stops of light to get a decent sunset or a sunrise.

you really need to stack.

Get a whole mess of them, maybe the Cokin P system. The trouble with circular threaded filters is you can't have the horizon in the middle of the frame all the time. Get all you can, soft graduated AND hard graduated, and all the different values, so you can stack them.

Get a cokin holder, they're really the best solution for effects, especially for gradiated ones.
If you're already spoiled by people saying the filters are shit, many other companies produce high end filters for the P system.
