Which prime should I get for my D80?

I was looking at the cheap f/1.8 50mm but then I saw the 1.4 at double the price. Would it be worth saving for the 1.4?

Has anyone got any photos of it in action?

I want to know the same thing, whats the difference of dof between 1.4 - 1.8 and increase of shutter speed when using the same focal length

I read somewhere the 1.8 would shoot at 1/125 in the same conditions that a standard 18-55 zoom at f/5.6 would shoot at 1/15

you can use dof calculator, google it
and for shutter speed check wiki,

but if I were you I would worry more about bokeh and sharpness

50mm is too long on crop for general shooting.

Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 is love <3.

28mm f1.8 Sigma, its capable of portraits in low light handheld, it also has incredibly close macro and awesome round bokeh.

It may also be afraid of nobody.

Cute kittens. Kittens are cute. One's female, I can tell. Definitely female. Female. Female. Female.

Second the suggestions for a 24 or 28mm, though I'd opt for the 28/2.0 Nikkor over the largeish 28/1.8 Burt is suggesting.

Also a 35 is fine, too.

the 28 f/2 on a crop body would be pretty good, though it won't meter on your D80. It's weak in the corners until f/4, but that won't matter! Rock that shit.

just get the 1.8 50 and save for a SB-600
