wow, do the photos tell you how the subject is going to die? or maybe they capture ghosts?

I just did a search for velvia portraits, too. A lot of them don't specify *which* Velvia they used, so they might have been using 100F (which is specifically designed not to make people look orange), and at least one specifically stated that it was color-corrected.

But yeah, I wouldn't recommend any flavour of Velvia for street photography. Get yourself a good fast B&W for that. If you're in a situation where the slow speed is an issue for you, you shouldn't really be using Velvia.

i honestly have no idea why provia is more expensive. astia has finer grain and velvia has the colors that everyone craves (for the most part). maybe it's just more expensive to make a fine-grained 400 chrome?

familyman? any ideas why provia is so expensive?

right. there was even this guy

http://flickr.com/photos/moogibang/561495181/

who tagged his photo with "velvia" even though it was taken with an M8. guarantee it was just to generate views.

if i ever get a flickr, i'm just going to tag everything with "breasts". if i get any shit from moderators, i'll just say that my work is all about the american fetish.

Obviously, Velvia is amazing win in some situations (nature, landscape) but terrible fail in others (portraits). It's an art form - people use it for its high saturation. When people get upset that the colours look fake and turn people orange - they're utter morons if they say it's bad film because of it. They're using the film wrong. It was never meant for that - that's what provia and astia were for (especially astia - amazing skin tones and smooth contrast). Velvia 100F is just fail though - fuji created it to satisfy the morons who call it "crayolachrome" when they only use it for everyday photography and get upset when it looks like trash (as it should).

tl;dr: Morons who call it "crayolachrome" are using it wrong. Velvia 100F = Fail. Velvia 50 = win

I've still got a Propack of Velvia 50 i'm waiting to shoot. *sigh* I keep end up scheduling portraits instead. STAY AWAY from velvia for any people photography. UNless you're purposely going for something creepy and orange. Seriously.

You haven't shot that yet? Wow. Don't get burned out on models. Those hot, hot models... sorry, what was I saying?

I have a pro pack of Velvia 50 minus two rolls (18 left) that I haven't shot yet cause the weather here sucks (today in particular)

Terrible rainy dark weather wastes velvia's beauty
