Ok, let me start again with this. I just wanted to be helpful but the other post went nuts, maybe I didn't explain myself properly. My fault, I apologise.
First, the 5Dmk2 HD video quality will be mind blowing. Period.
But because the 5Dmk2 camera LACKS (in video mode) the usual:
-fast AF and AF assist -AE and presets -servo zoom -tiltable LCD screen -on camera image stabilisation -proper egonomics, handles and thought out weight balance -onboard zoom-mic -almost limitless DOF due to tiny sensors ...etc, etc (long list)
all those features present in any typical camcorder (priced from $500 to $10k), overall results will be very poor WHEN USED LIKE SUCH CAMCORDERS (hand held, all over the place, running after people, etc)
That's why I said any $500 camcoder will always get a better video result in the end. They're built to be used like that and do a decent job after all.
On the other hand, IF THE 5Dmk2 IS USED AS WHAT IT IS, that is, a 35mm CMOS sensor, 30fps progressive, 1080HD, 35mm EOS lens mounting, ultra shallow DOF, ultra (very ultra) sensitive, high resolution video camera, (in the likes of a $100k sony), results will be unexpectedly awesome.
Now, the first thing you'll need for the awesoming will be a good tripod. Not a monopod. Not even a photo tripod, but a video tripod with an expensive head.
