Halp, /p/!
My dad and I rediscovered an old OM-2 and a few lenses as well. The problem is, the mirror is stuck in the up position and there is probably mold and other things wrong with it. Two of the lenses also have mold in them.
Does anybody know of a reputable camera repair site?

The OM series of cameras are good, but hardly worth repairing. I would just jump on ebay and buy some replacement gear. I own a tone of the stuff and have taken many a good shot on it. :)

if you're interested in selling the stuff though, I'm looking at getting more, I try to repair stuff myself.

I'm afraid this camera carries a lot of sentimental value, for the 20 or 30 odd years my dad has owned it, so I'm looking to have it repaired more than anything.

er if you had to rediscover it, it couldnt have been that much sentimental value. if it really is just because of sentimental value that youre keeping it, its not worth it to repair. just keep it as is.

about $100 per lens if its not a zoom, probably about the same for the pentaprism and the mirror would have be replaced or resilvered.

It was put into obsolescence due to poor finances, and was only recently brought into focus due to a renewed interest in photography. But that's arbitrary anyway-I am looking to repair it, and I need a little advice as to where I can do such a thing. . . That's all :/

Go Go Gadget Google!

The Olympus OM-2 locks up the mirror when it has a dead battery. Have you tried dropping in a new battery and seeing if it suddenly works?
>> Anonymous
Yeah, I've tried that. . . It appears to be jammed. . .

1. Buy one that works from eBay.
2. Gain EXP.
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!

Now, this might sound like a stupid question, but you have checked there's no switch for the mirror?
At least with my Canon FT QL there's switch to lock the mirror up.
