If so, I'd encourage you to look at the Panasonic FZ8 and LX2. The newer FZ18 has a wider lens, but it isn't as good otherwise.
The reason I say this is because the Panasonics are great little cameras, but the JPEG files that come out of them normally look horrible; to get good results with any of them, one has to use the raw files.
I'd also look at the different Ricoh models.
