I managed to get the body, 18-55, 50-200, 4 GB SD card, camera bag, USB 2.0 SD card reader (yeah, they're under $10, but it was nice to have), battery grip, spare battery, and some software for about $1,000 after mail-in rebate. I'll be trying to talk my father into getting a EOS 5D or 40D (or D300). There are some nice lenses out there, contrary to what some might say.
