In b4 "lurk moar", but I don't get this whole "Instant art = instant fail" thing just because someone converts to B&W in post. Granted, in most cases it probably IS a case of "ooh, now its artsy and I only had to press one button", but I'm willing to believe that in some scenarios it's actually a conscious decision in the vain of "I'm not ready to take on working colour theory into my work yet, so I'm going to perfect my technique in greyscale first." I mean, that's partly why most formal photography training starts students off with BW as opposed to colour.
Now, about these images, I agree that they seem well done for what they are, though I am a bit put off by the dead space on the right.
