Sup /p/, i just got my hands on one of these babies, a QL 17 (not the GIII version, blasphemy!!!).

I'm curious as if to anyone else has one or a similar camera and could post some sample images. I've read good things about the 40mm 1.7 on this little camera, and cant wait to get to use it. The battery is dead though so i'm going to have to rely on my manual control. anyone have a guide to shutter speeds and f stops? i've been spoiled by electronics and have forgotten.

I've got a QL17 GIII. Unfortunately I don't seem to have any of my shots from it available right now, which is annoying...

I could scan something, but it'll involve digging out my scanning machine from the pile of crap it's currently buried under. Gimme a bit.

Just stick it on f/16 @ 1/1000th and fire away!

it looks like the lens is pretty clear and sharp. still remember what f these were taken at?
It looks very promising for B&W photography, to say the least.

I love this film. It's almost like HDR, but not shitty.

Nope, sorry. I always shoot my QL17 in shutter-priority mode since I'm too lame for full manual (and the aperture dial is a bit fussy on mine) and it doesn't offer aperture priority.

well, if i manage to find a suitable replacement battery, that's probably what i'll end up doing as well.

still, it looks to be a pretty good camera, and a nice rangefinder for the price.

Best option: MR9 adapter from CRIS camera http://criscam.com/
Lets you use an easy-to-find silver battery. Silvers don't last as long as the old mercuries did, but they still last long enough that replacing the battery is something you have to worry about annually rather than weekly. The MR9 is reusable, so after the initial $20 or so for the adapter, you only have to pay $5 for replacement batteries.

Second best option: Wein zinc-air cells. They die a hell of a lot more quickly, but they're cheaper in the short term (though the MR9 pays for itself after a few months) and are a lot easier to find (I know of two stores in the Buffalo area that sell 'em, but I had to order the MR9 directly from CRIS online)
