Hi /p/ I'm new-ish to photography, but I'd like some opinions on this photo, it was taken in Shinjuku skyscraper district, it's one of my favorites from my trip out there, also if you can make any suggestions on how to improve, much oblidged.

please reduce the size of the pic to help those of us with lower bandwith who don't want to wait 2 minutes to load an image

I kinda like it.
You should have resized it though, and the top of the building is cut off.

Hehe, I was in Shinjuku 2 weeks ago ;)

Interesting pic, I like the composition and the dark mood. It feels like the zombies are coming or something. Very nice. I like the top of the building just touching the frame. It makes it more oppressing.

So, advice for making it better :

- There is motion blur because of the 1/8s exposure. Use a tripod. Pick a small and light tripod, not something heavy that you won't carry ! Velbon makes 1 kilogram tripods which can manage a Canon reflex (use mirror lockup).

However the grainy 800ISO suits the mood of your shot, so it's not a problem...

- Your lens is very crappy. This is normal, since it is the kit lens. Get a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 instead, cheap, good.

However the vignetting from your crap lens adds to the mood of this shot.

As for getting the most out of this shot, I'd say enhance the mood, add a bit of vignetting, enhance the pink cast on the left building, add a touch more contrast, but don't overdo it.
