teach me about cross processing
what happens when kodachrome is C41? do you get colour? i know you can just process it black and white.
>> Anonymous
that is a really good question
try it and post, ive never seen it before
i think it wont work at all because ive been told kodachrome has no dye in it, and it's re-exposed during processing and all kinds of other crazy shit but you obviously have quite a bit of it to fuck around with
>> Anonymous
Naw, Sage, I've heard it reacts unfruitfully with the developer chemicals, ruining them.

Kodachrome isn't a normal slide film, it's developed by a K-14 process.
Cross processing, as far as I know, only works from E6 (standard slide film) to C41 and vice versa.
If you try and process your Kodachrome in C41, it's just going to come out blank.
Also, I think if you want to get it developed as positives, there's only one or two places left that still do it, so you have to send it off.

Oh, and Sensia's fine.
I do all mine on the 200 version and get nice results.
Just make sure you expose it right.

If you try some experiments then remember to post results here.

Hey bro, don't xpro kodachrome. It looks like ass. Check it on flickr. The best you should hope for is xpro positive film, or slow negative film.

It works way better. Why don't you use that great resource, APUG or photo.net?

"Slide films make positive images designed for projection and viewing on a light table, so they are designed for higher contrast and thus have a correspondingly small dynamic range. Most slide films are developed using the E-6 process, with Kodachrome being the main exception. There is one lab left in the whole wide world who can develop Kodachrome."

I think there's one in Switzerland.

Don't waste Kodachrome. Use it right or sell it for profit to someone who will.
$2/roll is CHEAP.

Nope.

The private lab in Tokyo stopped doing it a couple years ago too, so it really is just Dwayne's left. I have one roll of Kodachrome in my fridge but just can't bring myself to use it (or pay shipping to mail it)

What on earth do you take photos of with that much pressure? It's like you need to take 36 perfect irreplaceable shots.

Correct, Lausanne to be precise

I had too many of the films to send off, and thanks to misplacing the prepaid processing envelopes, you can just send them the film with a note of your address and it'll find its way back to you fairly quickly.

Their contact email is ch-kodachrome@kodak.com

They don't process themselves, but send off to Dwayne's too. From my correspondence with them, dated 8th July 2008:

Dear Sir
Thank you for your mail. The prepaid envelopes do not represent any
monetary value. It is the note printed on the film canister that
determines if film was bought
processing costs included. (see attached sample)

We receive regularly KODACHROME slide films from LOL INTERNET; they are treated
as being sent from a European country.

All films enclosed in a strong envelope will be forwarded and processed by
Dwayne's Laboratory.
Processed KODACHROME slides will be returned to sender address stated on
the mailer.

With reference to your question regarding processing, Kodak is committed
to the manufacture and sale of film as long as there is a demand.

Looking forward to receive your processing order, we remain

Yours sincerely
