D200 is "weather proofed" But other than buying a cheap waterproof / resistant Olympus I don't really see many other options

if your "selling everything" go big or stay home. buy a d-slr nikon even makes a waterproof camera

High end DSLR. Nikon D200 or Canon 1D, with a similarly high-end lens. High end stuff tends to be somewhat weather sealed.

So are you anticipating having access to enough power to recharge your batteries? How about some sort of mass storage, like a laptop, to save all of your pictures to? Some way to copy them out of the jungles so if your laptop gets eaten by jungle robot cannibals, you'll still have your shots?

Hard to use a DSLR just by itself.

if you want a camera that's weathersealed just as good, if not better, than the D200, take a look at the pentax k10d. Much lighter on the wallet too. Granted, you will be sacrificing some image quality, but nothing to justify spending the extra grand on the D200.

I'm living in Borneo and have a Canon EOS 400D, which is not weatherproofed. Neither is my P&S, the Nikon Coolpix 7900.

If you're not going into the jungle that much, I see no need for water/weatherproofed cameras and equipments. Just prepare a raincoat, the storm can come suddenly.

Except Pentax doesn't make weathersealed lenses, so it doesn't help much.
