Canon US rebates (instant rebates) Anonymous
So uh, just a heads up for all the canonfags.

Starting May 18 to July 19, receive instant rebates on the following stuff.

Too bad there's no double rebates this time for some reason. And the rebate amounts are a less than usual.

But hey, $300 off a 5D or $200 off a 40D. Time to use them stimulus checks.

(Canadians are eligible too but since Canada has double rebates, it might be wise to not buy in the US this time around. See www.photoprice.ca for detailed list.)

Damn, too bad none of those are any of the non-L primes. (I can't afford an L yet :[ )

Oops, forgot to add "that I'm interested in". :P

What's the difference between an instant rebate and a sale?
>> Anonymous
>>180838

Bottom 2, the 28-90 is some shitty film kit lens that sells for $75.
>> Anonymous
>>180861
I saw some girl at school using that lens on her XTi instead of the 18-55 stock. Found it mildly funny.
>> Anonymous
>>180864

Hell, maybe she was smart enough to buy body only and use the old film kit lens she found in the attic.

But more importantly, was she hot and did you hit it?
>> Anonymous
>>180865
True, that could be the case. Maybe she had her filmfag friend lend it to her... yeah, many possibilities. But no, she wasn't hot, and good thing I didnt hit that.

God bless Canon for making the sub-$1,000 dSLR and introducing non-butch chicks to photography.

I frequently RAAGE over the fact that scenesters and hipsters have dSLR's and yet don't have the mental capacity to use them outside of AUTO while I, being a poorfag, have to resort to a CHDK'd Canon Powershot if I want manual controls!!
>> Anonymous

Oh, wow, best one yet.

And it's a 50/1.4. Does she know enough to get the 1.4 instead of 1.8 or did the salesman push it?

I prefer the first choice. ;_;

Well, at least she knows how to focus+recompose.

Also, she's doing that whole ONE PICTURE A DAY thing. She's hardcore, she's /p/ material.

She's up to 102 or something.

Rich parents. It's possible she got the 50mm f/1.4 because it was more expensive than the 50mm f/1.8 and thus automatically better. And she got the 400D over the 40D either because the 40D was too expensive or the 400D was smaller and had "rebel" and "XTi" on it.

I'm also starting to think she doesn't know what she's doing. Probably only using the big aperture to get a faster shutter speed. Photo would be much better if she was completely in focus. Show me a picture of her using a flash effectively (bouncing, softbox, etc) and then I'll think she's not just a scenester rich fag.

Oh come on, because girls don't know how to pirate software?

And Cartier-Bresson's parents were loaded and paid for his early cameras and travels. There's nothing wrong with that.

Stop being an overskeptical tool. Why is it so hard for you to believe someone could actually know what they're doing? And if she doesn't have any strobe pics up, maybe she just doesn't like using flash? I don't.

Oh man, Depressed Cheesecake. So much for your "vignetting is my style"

She says she's starting a Photoshop class in one of the pictures.

Some of her stuff is definitely passable, the film stuff is good.
>> Anonymous

Vignetting is DC's style, just like dark Velvia slides (and now digital files made to look like them) are David Alan Harvey's. Other people do it, but that doens't mean it's not somebody's style.

Like I said before, the lens is quite a bit older (like a few decades) than the body so either it's a gift, inherited, or she knows what she's doing.

would rebates work if i bought them and had them shipped to me in Aus?

Or do i only get teh rebates if i'm in the actual United States?

>> Anonymous
>>181089
There are currently rebates in other countries as well. Check from canon's website whether yours is included
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM
>>181116

nah, never worth it for rebates in Aus, lenses and equipment usually costs twice as much as it does in the states... and with the exchange currently as it is... only stupid people would buy from Aus stores.
>> Anonymous
I can buy from B&H from Canada and rebates are applied instantly because you know.. they are instant rebates.

B&H should honor them even if shipping address is to somewhere else but check because I'm talking out of my ass in this paragraph.
