you're doing black and white...fifty bucks would have you set up to develop your own.

Give me a place to set it up, and sure. I don't have one.

Moving one or two steps in the younger's girls direction would've helped, and maybe a step back.

It could also use a teensy bit more contrast, to emphasize that absolutely lovely light falling over the subjects.

Probably the best shot you could've gotten here, unless there was something to stand on. It would be much better- and it's already good- if the lens were level with the baby's face.

Could've used a little more depth of field. Not much more, just enough where the two bottles next to the one in focus are, say, about in half as the one that is, instead of how they are now. The focus falls off too fast, basically. Already, the bottle that's in focus starts to get out of focus at its back edge.

They seem stuck between centered and off to the side, pity the rose was cut off too. :(

Adore this.

Agree with the other guy, it's almost like you masked that one bottle out and blurred everything else y'know? The DOF seems to be exactly bottle shaped heh.

I personally love working with shallow depth of field and lots of dreamy, swirly bokeh, but that's my taste. It's no trick, just shooting with my Pentax 50mm SMC-A f/2 lens wide open, and focused about as close as I could.

I know you do (I remember your "bokeh addict" thread), and you're good at it and it's part of the quintessential "Heavyweather style." You just took the effect a little bit far there. I'm sure you know the old rule about not letting style overwhelm content.
