My rule of thumb has always been nikon or canon. If you can't go either of those... don't... :\ :o

I agree with the Nikon and Canon...for SLR or DSLR.

For compacts, Sony and Canon are top game. While companies like Nikon, Kodak, Olympus, etc are one step below. I would recommend the Powershot or Cybershot each from the respective companies, Sony and Canon. As for that kodak camera, its pretty good, mainly the dual lense(a good innovation) so buy it off amazon or Adorama Camera or even Ritz, who all have good return policies if its not up to standards.

Kodak is for women. Statistics say so.

What digicam only lasted 15 minutes? If you run into this sort of problem, you may want to check the battery, use the auto turn-off feature (if you don't take a picture or hit any menu buttons in 1, 2, 5 minutes it'll turn off) or turn off the LCD display. Taking videos can also go through a battery quickly...

I'm a female and am trying to decide between a Pentax K10D, and the Fuji S5 (Nikon D200 body) but, then again, I also do computer programming, so I'm not the typical female.
