Headed out again to the old foundry nearby and did some shooting, had my tripod along this time but still managed to fuck up otherwise good shots by not working the focus correctly (FYI it's hard as hell focusing a subject when it's too dark for autofocus to work and you can barely tell yourself whether or not you got it right).

Anyhow, some things did turn out great, here's one of my favorites, I'll post some more if /p/ demands it.

Also, any tips for shooting in very porly lit conditions?

Personally, I find this picture to be complete rubbish.

The subject is boring, the composition is boring, it really just looks like a random spot of white.

Maybe I just have horrible taste, but you need to work on this. A lot.

Moar?

I don't really like this photo either. Maybe hit it with a strobe next time so we can actually SEE something?

As for focusing in the dark you could always stop down to f/11 or f/16 and use a hyperfocal chart or something since you're using a tripod.

Let's see some of the others.

get a good lazer pointer
what i do on my oly is i use the lcd screen and do the thing to get 10x magnification and put it on the lazer pointer dot and get it so the dot is as sharp as possible.
i guess you could try it without the screen i havent tried but the magnification helps.

i think i tried that and it didnt work well. i couldnt get the flash light to sit close enough to the subject and still have it angled up. but im thinking thats not really necessary right now. they sell lazer pointers for like 5 bucks though so i just got my parents to pick me up one if they ever came across rather than lugging around a good flashlight.
not to say it wouldnt work id hate to be the retard who disagrees with such a simple idea
