best advice ever given, all too often ignored.

How much did you pay and where did you get them?
I was thinking about getting a 35mm 2.0 but Amazon isn't carrying it right now.
>> Anonymous
>>202044

ebay store called prodigital2000. they're from canada

77 for 590
31 for 770

shipping too of course.

It was the lowest price i could find

I could have had the 35/2 for about 460.... but fucking completely irrationally, I have wanted the 31 since forever.... and somehow in my twisted shit filled head this justifies spending almost double. the 35/2 is a great performer.

If you're willing to import, thecamerastore.com sells the 35.

um.. the pentax 35/2 is optically better than both of those lenses and it costs $300

>um.. the pentax 35/2 is optically better than both of those lenses and it costs $300

Good to hear.
I just got the 50/1.4 and I like it a lot, but it definitely forces me to be much further from my subject than I'd like, particularly when shooting on a sidewalk or city street.

i'm looking into buying a k20 and i'm shopping around for glass first before i buy it.

The 50/1.4 is fucking awesome (and cheap, $195 at Amazon), but if you're shooting portraits you're probably going to want something shorter after a while.

Besides the 50 he mentioned, stick to the Limited primes if you can afford it and don't need the weathersealing those two zooms and supertele primes have.

Question: how often is it that people need weathersealing on a supertele? You're far away from whatever's going on that would throw stuff into the camera. Wides, normals, and mid-teles need it more, I would think.

>>202502
What if you are say shooting sports outdoors in the rain? Which is what weathersealing is supposed to seal against, no?
>> Anonymous
>>202504
I guess, yeah but still, then, stick an umbrella up or shoot from under the shelter they would hopefully set up for the shooters. You're pretty much stationary, you're not dancing around the subject.

I'm thinking more for a PJ or documentary, I guess because the latter's what I do. I'm not saying it's useless on superteles- IMO, everything should be weathersealed, no reason not to- but that it would be more useful on more mobile equipment.

You have no idea how sports photography works... You get very wet.

For example, how would i cover surfers in the rain without getting my gear wet. Nothing but an empty dock and strong winds.

You're right, I guess I don't.

This thread clearly displays a lack of photographs taken with said lenses.
Inb4 pentax-user out taking photos.
You got on /p/ with your /p/entax gear shit, show some damn work while you're at it.

You don't want this. You'll just cum buckets of jealousy. I did when I saw pictures from them. The Limiteds are very probably the best autofocus lenses ever made.

You seem to be failing to grasp the poin of photography.
It's not the gear that takes the photo, it's just a tool.

OP here.

Serious backfocus with the 77, 31 is ok.

Build quality is ridiculous.

snapped a few pics. Contrasty and punchy out of the camera. I like em so far.

Still feel like a tool for buying them, but it'll pass.

Focal length is challenging. Definitely more comfortable with 77 than 31. Guess the 43mm spoiled me, I've been using it exclusively for a year.

don't know what i like about the pics from these lenses. Sharpness? contrast? color?
Have never used a non-pentax lens before and it's been ages since I used the kit zoom, so I can't really compare.
