Display of emotion: Good
Display of emotion in a featureless void: Meh.

I think this would be a lot better if it weren't taken against a featureless gray background.

Really bizarre pose, it makes me uneasy and as anxious as she is, with no real resolution of what's going on. As wordy as that was, I'm not a fan.

The hatchet lighting is dramatic, to be certain, but for my tastes there's too much detail in the shadow. If you want to use something as dramatic as hatchet, don't be afraid to throw the rest of the face into really dark shadow. When you meter, spot meter the light side of the face, and possibly underexpose by a stop, and don't use matrix or pattern metering.

But yeah, weird pose, almost interesting lighting, but it just falls short by a bit.

I'm sure /b/ would have some "witty" captions for it.

I've tried making the shadows disappear entirely. The problem is, so does her hair, and that looks weird. If she had lighter or really shiny hair, it would have been easier.

i guess i should explain how to instead of being an ass

you already have very bright whites and very few dark tones and no true blacks, pop open levels and shift that blac part over.

then use levels to adjust the tones on the face darker

whip the good old burn tool and get rid of that unecessary detail, darken back-ground to match the lighting better and to enclose her face making seem like she is surrounded, but since you want hair dont do it uo right next to it but feather the edges so it doesnt look to off

then open up color balance shift to more cyan blue and green

might be good to darken the left top corner looking at but too lazy to open shoop again

Thanks. It really is an improvement, except for the fact that she now looks green. At least I know how to fix that. :)
