any tips on how to focus in low light?when it's dark dark in a club or bar, autofocus just cycles from minimum to infinity and you can't see shit in the viewfinderso the only thing i do is guess with the distance window on my lensmy flash has focus assist but i don't want to use it (the flash)
lol @ using shitty canons/other cameras that focus assist with the flash. Get a Nikon.
Was going to make my own thread, but my question is related. What's a good affordable night shot camera that can take shots without the lights and everything looking like a seizure?I live for night photography.
get a real flash with a non strobe focus assist light.
>>202628if you use an external flash, most of them have an invisible infrared focus assist beam that won't interfere with your subject
>>202638it's a 580, i don't want to use flash>> my flash has focus assist but i don't want to use it (the flash)
>>202672that's what i'm doing now>> so the only thing i do is guess with the distance window on my lensoh well, i found one of those keyring flash lights and it works okay except it puts a strain on my hand to hold the camera and lens with one hand and switch all the time
>>202678what lens are you using? maybe you should use a faster lens
>>20269724-70 2.8, which is why i can take some shots without the flash but it still doesn't lock focus because it's too dark
>>202703Some cameras are better at focusing in low light. Or at least, this is what I've been told.If you are that desperate to focus properly, spend a few thousand dollars on some new camera body.
>>202707fuck thatkeyring flash light for now
