holy shit a Four Thirds camera for the price of D300

Could this be a winner for Olympus? They've got some new lenses and flashes on the way too.

Winners for Olympus are cheap 2-lens kits, they sell great to beginners. E-3, however, looks totally overpriced if the announced RRP is correct.

I have a feeling the D300 will be better regardless.

The D300 does sound to me like it will be awesome (and I'm a Canon user). I always like it when they start bringing out something to shake up the competition. They all have to keep pace with each other and the customer wins again.

Exactly. As long as they improve the technology, its all good. :)

D300 lacks a flip-out screen and in-body IS compared to E-3, but everything else is better or equal (at least on paper). That's why $1700 for E-3 seems ridiculous to me.

Yeah, it looks pretty nice.

I'll have to wait and see what pentax does next though, they're taking their sweet time.

Inability to move up to full frame (or even aps-c) in the system is still a dealbreaker for me. There's a good chance I'll never have enough money to afford a full-frame camera, but I'd still like to dream, you know?

(See my rant on the awesomeness of full frame in another thread)
