Depressed Cheesecake !wFh1Fw9wBU
A few new ones from tonight.

Shortly after taking this, I turned so I wouldn't get sprayed. Forgot I had the Rebel XT and 85mm strapped and hanging on my back. Needless to say, both got soaked but now work fine.

c&c welcome, so is vignette dog and the USM tree.

Did you try any shots loser in on the fisherman down at the end?
>> Anonymous
All very nice, especially the first one.

I agree with>>204444that a closer shot of the fisherman probably would've been more interesting than the shot you posted. Also, that same shot... somehow the place it cuts off on the right hand side seems awkward.

At least TRY to be original.

>>204418

wtf are you doing with that much USM after taking the pic w/ an 85mm f/1.2? NOT SHARP ENOUGH ALREADY?

also, why a $1,750 85mm on a crop body? (assuming its the ef 85 f/1.2)

Techniques aren't fashion trends. Both USM and high-pass sharpening have their place. I don't know about Depressed Cheesecake, but I use them both, sometimes both on the same image.

DC likes going around /p/ pretending he has all that shit when he has a silver rebel with a 50mm

inb4 poorfags
>> Anonymous
>>204550
DC actually gets out and puts his camera to use.
He comes up with mostly pleasing images.

This makes him better than you.
Keep up the good work DC.

Yeah, sorry. I hadn't shot in this location before. Tomorrow I'll go and shoot people too.

>>204542
Had the 17-40 on the 1DS and the 85 on the XT, so I wouldn't have to swap them on a windy beach.

>>204543
Girlfriend. Borrowed.
>> Depressed Cheesecake !wFh1Fw9wBU
>>204553
Thanks. The camera is really hard to master. The XT is quick and light and simple to change settings. The 1Ds is a monster.

i can only give CC on this.

i wouldve put the horizon just above the railing, or to mix it up, try putting it between the upper and lower railing?
i just dont like being able to see the clouds on the left but cant see the rest of the horizon.

as for the others, nice colours etc, but as stated, theyre hardly original or intersting.

but, ill give you an A+ for actually getting out and taking pics... god knows i would be if i didnt have to study >_<

oh, and SERIOUSLY! clean that M/F'ing dust off, its the worst ive ever seen lol

I must not have a good eye for (over)sharpness. Thanks.
>> Anonymous
>>204615
FWIW, this anon thinks your sharpening is usually heavy but stylistically appropriate, but for that image the proper balance lies somewhere between what you did and the unsharpened version.
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
>>204617
i agree with every word in this post
>> $19.99 !OSYhGye6hY
Well done dc, really nice pleasing sky colors.
I'm not really a fan of the raccoon though, it just seems out of place with the nice sky photos.
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
>>204413
Super bright area in the sky is very distracting, along with the heavy vignetting. Well I agree with vignetting it, it needs to be softer and less pronounced.

>>204431
Needs some serious healing brush work. Bring bottom half's highlights up or darken the top half as well. As it is the bright sky is rather distracting.

>>204462
Healing brush needed again. Somewhat dull by lack of subject or interesting pattern/texture.

>>204538
Play with the sky some more, crop to square, removing the most from the left and you'd have something decent.

>>204571
It's following compositional rules, but it's still disinteresting. Hardest part of nature photography is identifying interesting elements in nature and combining them into something interesting. You need more than raw beauty, you need more than a good sky, you need more than just an interesting subject, you need them to interact and compliment each other.
