Unlimited motherfucking JPGs Anonymous
So most, maybe all, Nikon SLR cameras can shoot unlimited JPGs according to their specifications.

Is it 'really' unlimited or does it start chugging after a couple dozen shots? Depends on the memory card, obviously but if it's really unlimited, how come Canon hasn't implemented something like this?

Sure, 3 FPS is lame for any continuous motion but how come Canon only goes up to about 50-75 (110 on the 1D III)?

In before why the fuck would you want to shoot unlimited JPGs?

Continuous buffer: 23 JPEG Large/Fine

Continuous buffer: 100 JPEG large/normal

The D40 and D40x claim to have an infinite buffer depth, but that's probably mostly because they're slow and low-res compared to Nikon's better cameras.

It raises the question of why the 400D/XTi can't shoot as many JPEGs continuously as you want, but I'd say that's just because it raises the price for no real-world benefit. You need more fast RAM in the camera, and that raises the cost. The only way you'll ever hit the XTi's buffer when shooting JPEG is if you literally just hold down the button and treat it like a movie camera. If you're taking any time at all to compose your shots, you'll never hit it.

There's no real world use to it, might be fun to make an animated GIF.

But the D40x is 10 MP, same as the 400D. I'm just wondering if it there really is no limit if you have a fast card of it starts chugging after a while.

I mean, Canon just flats out says it's 27 JPGs if I remember right.

My F5 has a 24-36 frame buffer at 8fps :D

Who cares, anyone who gives half a shit about the photo's they take is going to use manual anyway....

I dont, too time consuming and bothersome.
Except when using AI lenses on my D70.

When you start shooting events where you have time constraints, raw will save your ass by letting you bring back photos that would otherwise not be salvageable in jpg.....

eh? what? i didn't mention anything about that :P

Was just trying to make a point, especially when shooting in low light raw is especially helpful.

So why the fuck do you adjust EC then?

Scroll left or right and change your shutter speed/aperture.

nice try SameFag. THE PRICE IS WRONG BITCH... oh whatever the fuck Adam Sandler quote you want to use. YOU CAN DO IT!

>>113775read>>113778

and you've obviously never shot a function/event/club gig if you think there's enough time to with an off camera flash and work effectively with manual.

It's much easier to leave it on Aperture priority and let the camera focus on the metering whilst you focus on the event. This is also where EV comes in to correct my D70s' tendency to underexpose.

Uh, wow. Still feeling that burn, huh. Little bitch.

No one said anything about manual mode. Keep your same damn aperture or shutter speed you want, scroll left/right to change the other setting you want.

It's the same damn thing as changing EC.

Nah, it's just the D70s saying it can't handle highlights so it underexposes a little to compensate to preserve skies. But in indoor situations it's somewhat pointless.

Though i would personally recommend the D80 as it's 2 years newer and due to that fact (and many others) a much better camera.

i use it on my D70

Would it be necessary since i shoot pretty much only RAW? And adjust most things in the raw converter?

i dunno, i never shoot RAW, cannot be bothered with it.

Pentax K10D has unlimited continuous JPG shots at 3 FPS. That ought to be stepped up soon, though.
