fz18 = p80 = s5 = olympus

different companies, same shit

sorry

fz-18 has raw, leica lens, clearly superior than the rest

p80, meh, but 13 fps

s5, flip tilt screen and hotshoe and raw hack

olympus = raw, 13 fps, wireless flash control, so basically the same too.

and even a leica lens can't salvage the images when you have a tiny noisy 1/2.5" sensor.

A "true Leica lens" does approximately jack shit for your pictures taken with a shitty camera with a shitty sensor with shitty resolving power, let alone with an idiot behind it.

Because resolution is the only property of a lens, amirite?

It isn't but it's just one of the things it's not going to save.

Nobody cares particularly about distortion, and it's hard to talk about bokeh when the DoF is infinite when focusing to 1m or farther.

Sharpness/resolution is pretty damn important when everything within your frame is going to be near focus due to a sensor the size of an ant.

Truth spoken

Not true. There's much more depth of field, but the far backgrounds are still obviously out of focus, and bokeh matters for more than just the extremely blurred parts. Someone standing a meter behind your focused subject three meters away is going to be drawn differently depending than if he was where the focus hits.

Different lenses draw the picture differently, both in the in-focus and out-of-focus areas. That matters, no matter how much noise there is owing to sensor size. (And these things are usually clean up to 200, too.)

Really obvious only if focusing under 1.5m away or in close focus mode (aka 'macro').
