Don't you guys remember? They went for the desperate student look in the movie. Remember his shitty moped? Shitty apartment? Thats why they gave him a piece of shit camera.
Tony Stark shoots Nikon btw.

i happen to have the camera and lens he's holding sitting on my desk right now.

I thought it was a Nikon F2 when I first saw it.

Also Eddie Brock fails for shooting a D40 and a Leica P&S.

But he wins for having a backup camera, shooting digital (argue all you want about film vs. digital for quality, but who the hell shoots film for breaking news stories nowadays?), and at least *trying* to be ethical with his photojournalism, until Spider Man pushes him over the edge.

Quite similar yes, but the F2 doesn't have the hot shoe on top of the prism.

Proud F2 owner here btw.

I thought he'd be shooting a Sony...

sony SLRs didnt exist when the first one was shot and they dont have the cool oldschool look that canikon do, I also dont think sony care about it because ColumbiaTristar have little to do with whatever the name of sonys SLR division is (minolta probably)

Bonus points for anyone who knows what cameras they shot the movie with.

You're right, digital is obviously the best for PJ work, and backups are mandatory. But who the hell does PJ work with a D40 + 55-200, and what serious photographer would ever buy a digital Leica P&S instead of the Panasonic?

You're asking for realism in a film full of sponsorship.

Don't worry yourself.

Did Brock really carry a D40? thought he was packing more hah.

more likely than you may think.
A shitton of smalltown papers just have the guy writing copy go out with something like this, or even a middle of the road P&S.
My local paper used to have three staff photographers, now there's one. Most of the photos don't have his name next to them.
