Hey /p/, first time posting in here (newfag, etc). Sorry if this is the sort of thing you get bothered with all the time, but I thought I'd ask...

I have no idea about photography. I think I have a reasonable eye for a picture, but absolutely no technical knowledge - either in terms of how a camera works or in the composition of a shot. Can /p/ suggest any guides that they think are worthwhile? Yes, I know I could Google it, but I'd rather have some recommendations from people who actually know about this sort of thing as opposed to trusting a pagerank.

Pic - one I took in Venice. Also, if it helps, I have a Panasonic DMC-LZ5.

understanding exposure is a pretty good book for a beginner. i just recently finished it and found some of it pretty useful but i knew most of what was in it...
it covers basics really well though so you might check that out.

Basically if you can appease /p/ you have completed your first step towards pro-level photography.

Camera:
Learn to use your camera (read the fucking manual)
Learn what aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc. are AND how to use them.
READ the fucking manual again.

Picture check list:
[ ]Is it black and white?
[ ]Is it in an awkward angle?
[ ]Is it blurry?
[ ]Is it underexposed and over processed?
[ ]Is it a macro?
[ ]Is it deep?

If you managed to fulfill at least 2 of these requirements, don't bother posting it on /p/ as it will get saged to oblivion.

in b4 "this picture is boring."
