Maybe if you blow it up to billboard size and get right up close to it, but there comes a point past which throwing more pixels onto the sensor gives you some seriously diminishing returns. That point is around 5 megapixels.
I've got a 16x20 on my wall from a 5MP P&S. No matter how closely you look, you can't see pixels.
It's better to have 200 extra dollars and not need it than to need $200 and not have it, and I'd say that $200 is better spent on glass or on saving up to eventually move to a D80.
(Similarly, you might want to consider the XT instead of the XTi. That's less clear cut, though, since the XTi has some noticeable advantages over the XT other than the resolution. Color histogram, quicker-to-use menu system, mostly-lip-service-but-better-than-nothing dust eradication system, etc)
