The 35mm lens on your sensor is a normal lens, suitable for almost anything. You might want to consider a 28mm lens instead, though... it'd have the same field of view as a 56mm lens on 35mm film, which is long for a normal, although still a normal. A 28mm would replicate the FoV of a 44.8mm lens. Canon makes a 28/1.8 that's more expensive and a 28/2.8 that's cheaper. The choice between the three is yours; all ought to be good.
The 50mm is a medium telephoto, good for portraits and reach.
My advice, not knowing the particulars of your situation, would be to get one of the three normals, whichever you like the best, and set aside $10 from each of your next few paychecks and pick up the cheap Mk. II version of the 50/1.8.
