what do you guys do with your old camera body upon switching to a new one? put it up for auction?

i'm trying to get rid of my old camera (a nikon d40x) to switch to a d80. is it possible to do a trade-in or something?

Keep it as a backup. it can still use the same lenses anyway.

Personally, I won't upgrade my bodies until the previous is really dead. I have a D70s (bought second hand, 44k actuations) and I'm gathering lenses and accessories for it and will use it until it dies then I just swap it for a new body and still use the same lenses and accessories.

But since the D40x is really lacking, you can get rid of it. If you've got other Nikon lenses with you, go ahead and get a mid level Nikon body. If you've got nothing else, you can consider Canon as well.
