>>67826 The Powershot A-series is popular. But as a travel camera, I find that the SD models are better. Perhaps it's better known as something else outside of the US, but the name escapes me. The slim compact design is very nice and useful. Its auto mode is quite accurate and the flash is pretty "smart." It's quick fast and the shutter speed is synced just right (compared to my old Canon A520 that is.) The only down side is that when you load it to your computer, there seems to be a film over your shots, as if you were shooting with some sort of grey filter on it. With some quick and easy post processing, you'd get nice vibrant colors.
I think they're up to SD1000 now, but getting the older models like the SD600 is fine too. The only new thing about SD1000, other than the specs, is that the body is almost purely rectangular and possibly made of magnesium. I only held one in my hand for about 4 seconds so I'd suggest you verify using the internet.
