I was outside taking some shots with my D400 (Digital Rebel XTi), when I noticed it was acting kinda odd.The lens I was using is pretty old, although it's a proper Canon 50mm f/1.8, and as far as I know it's all in working order.I was using it mainly in Tv, I start to focus and everything's fine, it focuses OK but no data is shown on the viewfinder (where normally I get the time, aperture, exposure compensation, etc). I take the picture, it previews it for a second, and I'm back to the settings LCD. From here, if I try to adjust the time it doesn't appear to do anything, but if I open another menu (set / set to open picture styles and select the current one) it updates the LCD with the new time, and will let me change it.Take another picture, still no information, same problem afterwards. It kept up like that despite being turned on/off, so I'm not sure what's causing it.tl;dr: XTi doesn't show info on viewfinder once focused, settings LCD seems frozen after picture, requires going into another menu to unfreeze.Picture is one I took while outside.EXIF data available. No after-editing besides resizing it, by the way. Because that flare really looks like something from Photoshop.
Could be from the lenses/filters reflecting off each other, which shows up a lot if the anti-reflective coatings aren't top notch.
I was more asking about the camera screen seeming to freeze and no info being displayed in the viewfinder. I suspect you're probably right about the reflection in the picture.
If the lens is too old, it might not be up to standard with the EF/EF-S system, which will prevent the camera from reading the lens specification data.
>>51609It's a genuine Canon 50mm. The incompatibility issues are only with third-party lenses.Have you tried updating the firmware? That might help things. If not, might be time to send it off for some warranty action.
