Underexposed in the final image. If you want deep contrast, you need to have it on the scene in the first place. Try a big fuck-off halogen light, or taking the shot on a brighter day. Lit properly, you could have had a perfectly exposed left half, a completely dark right half and a neat line to the left of her nose separating the two without the need for photoshop.

Make-up is really good stuff. Just a little powder would have taken the glare off her nose. It's not hard to learn to do and makes all the difference in portraiture.

Processed in the right direction, but too far so. Also, a slightly shorter lens (70-80mm equiv.) strikes me as if it might be better.

The girl i shot asked me if I could take a couple of pictures of her without make up for a school project, therefore the lack of powder :)

When we shot we only had a reading lamp that we lit the scene with. Not so professional, i know.

Anyways, thanks for the critique.

learn to play full auto please, you have a DSLR cmon, and yeah if you want dramatic lighting head on down to super cheap and pick up some big piss off lights or go to a studio.

Is that your mom?

Not gonna lie, this chick has massive features. Maybe choose a more flattering style of lighting. I like the original better than the shop. You pushed it too far in my opinion.

here is how i would have processed it. i prefer to have more natural colors, actually a little to the warm side. sharpened, curves, brightness + saturation.

>>86509
exposure is decent but its way too blue, you can tell by the color of her eyes. you should try doing a custom white balance.
