QUESTION: How do I test my camera's focus?

I've been noticing lately that a lot of my images seem to have pretty soft focus. I know I'm not the best at focusing a camera (terrible eyesight, thick glasses, eye allergies) but it seems hard to believe that my camera's autofocus would *always* be off, so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my camera's sensor... It seems to happen with all my lenses too...

Is there some kind of test I can run with my different lenses to see if it's the camera, lenses, or what?

Or an sheet of paper with lots of text parallel to the film plane.

That's what you got the fucking dioptric adjustment wheel for.

Um... not to be a shithead... but do you have a soft focus filter on? But really, it it does seem to have a problem, have a friend try it too. If its film, you just wasted film, idiot. If it's digital, try try try. Check with a camera stores specialist.

Are some kind of special internet retard?
The dioptric adjustment wheel adjusts for only the most minor of prescription glasses, like reading glasses or something.

Nope, no soft focus filter or anything like that. I suppose I could have a friend try it, but they aren't going to get any different results really, which is why I'd really like to find some sort of test I can do myself to see...

Looks like /p/ fails again. ;_;

seriously. it's one of those weird, rare occurrences where what you're looking for happens to be the exact url.

Pentard, good call on the dioptric thing. what a fucking re re. you could also try( if you aren't nearsighted) taking your glasses off, and doing macro, close up stuff. will NOT work the other way around, for some reason, your eyes can detect the focusing circle thingy, or whatever.

99% of the time its you, not the camera.

But who knows, maybe you'll be in the 1% minority where your shits broke.

I know that, which is why I blamed myself for a long time, but I've had the camera for about 4-5 months now, and I have yet to get any really sharp images, so now I'm hoping to try to figure out of the AF is borked, if my lenses are all shit, or if there's something wrong with my camera body.

LOL. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
