Let me say first that I am NOT the world's foremost expert on HDR, but I do have some experience with it, and photography in general.

HDR does not mean "Kill the shadows/highlights until it looks fake". HDR is great because it allows you to show the details/colors hidden within the brightest and darkest areas while maintaining a wide range of values... a glance at the thumbnail shows that you have destroyed the balance of light and dark in favor of a rather 'blah' middle value.

If I had your source HDR image I would have kept the range a bit more dynamic. This isn't quite right, because I don't have the HDR, but something like this is, IMNVHO, somewhat easier on the eyes.

HDR#3-8 is quite nicely done.

The main use for HDR is for printing purposes, it is because you use it so there are no dead spots in your image where ink isn't being printed.
Any reason other than that is pure photographic masturbation.
