What should I do Boyles
I have just recently made the jump from d70s to the glorious d300. I don’t know witch lens I should get. I really love the Nikon 80-200 2.8 but is there any justification to spending $700 more to get the Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR.

If you have the money and want VR, get the 70-200. If not, the 80-200 is just as good and a lot cheaper.

80-200 is one of the basic lenses of a set. Bite the bullet and get one.

Budget concerns? Get the 80-200. Use it properly, don't be stupid with it. That means using a monopod etc.

I think I'm reading you the right way. You are saying he should handhold this bitch and not cripple it by sticking a monopod, right?

It's not heavy, it's well-balanced. Rock out with your cock out. The 80-200 is awesome.

You've got it backwards there, chief.
