I don't have $800+ for this Program.

ITT: How /p/ gets their editing done?
>> Anonymous
Lightroom but who says you need to buy them :O

But seriously, I believe there's other suites out there that are tailored towards Home use instead of Business/Professional use (like CS3 is)

i think they call that the Photoshop Elements line.

you can do just about jack all squat with it though.

OP, either get a better paying job or download it.

Or use the gimp, but that's for faggots.

I use CS3. could never quite get the hang of Lightroom's RAW editor
>> Anonymous
>>246813

is there any way to get CS3 W/o Paying your soul?
>> Anonymous
>>246813

Not sure if you used an earlier version but I've never had issues with it (I only shoot in RAW). I just absolutely love how streamlined Lightroom is when you've taken lots of shots. Syncing White Balance and other settings across lots of pictures is an awesome feature.

Though sometimes I wish I had CS3 installed when it comes to more intensive Post Processing.

i JUST got cs3 last night. =]
>> Anonymous
If you don't have CS3, steal it. Dumbass.

If you HAVE to go legit, go buy lightroom 2, it's pretty damn good. I find that I rarely go to photoshop now.

using photoshop.

didnt spend the $800, it just kinda appeared there one day.....

I use Microsoft Digital Image suite. It can do most photography related things that photoshop can do and is only 50 dollars. It can work with RAW, batch edit and use layers plus all the correction stuff. The only downside is that it doesn't support plugins. And that Microsoft stupidly discontinued it last year.

If your a student of some sort, go down to your local design studio, show them your student ID and they should be able to give you Adobe Creative Studio for around $500, that includs Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash and some other stuff like Bridge etc etc

btw learn to use ms paint

/p/

how does the 40d compare to the rbeel XSi?
I've been reading up a bit, butI can't find anything really definitive.

I just bought an EF 50/f-1.4 for my old rebel G 35mmc amera and I want to get a DSLR now
>> Anonymous
>>246989

I don't have either but from what I've read, the XSi is feature for feature nearly on par with the 40D but people still prefer the construction and the IQ that comes out of the 40D. Could be tinted glasses though.

Also, have fun with the EF 50 f/1.4, its fantastic lens.

The handling. You can't put a number like "12.3mp" to a quality like that.

The 40D is built for people who know what they're doing, the xsi is built for your mom. That's the best way I can put it.

40D's advantages:
1. notably thicker/"better" grip. If you have "normal"-sized hands, this is a distinct benefit.
2. 6.5 fps/second vs 3.5 for the XSi.
3. 256MB (-~40MB for OS) buffer vs 128MB (-~40MB for OS) buffer on the XSi.
4. Center AF point is high-precision cross-type on f/2.8 or faster lenses vs the XSi's which is not cross-type.
5. All AF points are cross-type vs the XSi for which only the center point is.
6. It has a rear control dial - much better for quickly changing settings. Eg. In manual you can change shutter and aperture at the same time vs XSi where you can change shutter speed with the dial but then have to hold a button while using the dial to change aperture.

There might be more. It's late, and I can't remember. Oh yeah - takes CF cards which while a bit pricier are faster than SD cards.

First don't be retarded, Photoshop CS3 is only $400 or so totally legit. Stop being so poor.

And if you really ARE that poor because you're a student, then you can get student pricing which is like 5 times cheaper.
