how does /p/ clean their lenses and camera?

Personally I use one of those little bulb blower things (like, 4 bucks) Q-tips, and maybe a little bit of lens cleaning fluid if absolutely necessary.

I find the Q-tips are great because they are soft, but allow a decent amount of pressure to be applied from a distance. Also absolutely no chance of your fingers touching the lens.

also cheap as fuck.

I like to use a little scotch tape lightly on the sensor. Works great on those delicate parts and lifts the dust and dirt without needing to rub or use solvents.

i only clean a lens maybe once a year, but i use a microfiber cloth when i do. it works wonders and you don't have to mess with chemicals.

for dusting, i use a kolinsky sable hair paintbrush. they're expensive, but worth it.

before or after the sandpaper?

But seriously, I use a BIG blower bulb (xbox hueg blower bulb) that gives a damn powerful shot of air, or a soft but long stream.

I used to carefully use compressed air and I haven't had a problem, but I switched to the blower bulb for $$$ reasons. Don't believe the people who go wacko over "ZOMG COMPRESSED AIR IS LIKE TAKING A SHIT ON YOUR SENSOR!!!!!11!one", if you're careful and know not to invert / shake the can, you'll be fine.

I might try methanol + those little plastic swabs but I haven't had any residue on my CCD yet - just dust
