I think they are talking about us?

Sometimes, although most of the time /p/ can spot when a famous photographer gets posted and _not_ go trolling away.

Bill, your problem here is the shadow detail. Some lenses give more shadow detail & contrast than others. The Leica lenses are best for this. There are several types, the Elmarit, Summicron, and Summilux that I know of. I don't know which type has the highest shadow detail but I will ask and I'm sure you will get some answers. Need to see both eyes to get a sense of depth. What lens did you use for this pic? Also highlight detail seems lacking, esp. the arm. Adrian from NSW

More places like DP Review I think (see the hilarious signature) but yeah.

/P/ could do with a hefty dose of Mike Johnston in general.

old shit is extremely old. older than the internet.

still a necessary read, though.

>This is just a snapshot. I would not even have considered showing this. If you ware going to post pictures you need to make sure it is of something unusual or with a personal vision. Otherwise you are going to loose the interest of your audience. George Spelvin [Nikon D200, Nikon D70s backup, 17-35 f/2.8, 80-200 f/2.8, 4GB Microdrive (2), Photoshop CS, Epson 2200]

It's two years old. were you born yesterday too?

That article reminds me of DPreview. I used to visit there before here. I tried browsing the forums again and all I can say is that if you thought this place was bad for retards and trolling then try a visit there and you'll realise it isn't so bad here at all.

That picture always make me bawwwww a little inside. Especially the bottom part with the lady in the pumpkin mask just looking down.

Let's get some originals ITT:

Nice capture, Jim, but the composition is too jarring. Let us see the boy's whole face so we're not looking for more. You certainly had enough room in the frame! The street's empty and out of focus, you know what they say, "F/8 and be there!"

Or the /p/ version:

LOL, stop being a gearfag JamesNachtwey. Shitty snapshots with INSTA-ART black and white and borkeh.

I'm a real pro and you never would make it in real photojournalism!

two years is fucking paleontology on the internet, man.

and i'm pretty sure it's older than that, or at least i've seen it done in this style before, with a different cartier-bresson (the one with the stairs, and the bike) plus, every couple of months some genius will come along and try to troll /p/ by posting a classis masterpiece and "what do you think of my photo?"

then someone actually offers up a real critique, saying "lol just because they were respected artists doesn't mean what i said wasn't true." and starts a whole massive flamewar that goes on for days with people making stupid arguments on both sides. it's old, old as shit.

>or at least i've seen it done in this style before, with a different cartier-bresson

Unfortunately wasn't satire, goddamn.

Someone trolled the shit out of Flickr. All the people doing HDR self-portrait nudes with titles from Fall Out Boy songs or shooting boring pictures of their deck with Strobist gear and a 10-22 flamed the picture for weeks.

Also not older than dirt. It's just an expression.

well, you got me there. a website would probably not be older than the internet itself.
