The 3fps vs. 2.5fps rate of fire is the only real advantage the D40x has.

But yeah, I should've said that *Nikon* doesn't make any glass faster than f/2.8 that'll autofocus on the D40 line. I just don't tend to think much about third-party lenses, 'cause I've got more money than sense.
(And also, I'd suspect that Nikon's going to start focusing--so to speak--more heavily on lenses with the motor in the lens so they don't have to keep building bodies with motors. So this disadvantage of the D40/D40x will probably go away eventually)
(But I'm a Canon fanboy, so I chose to ignore those points)
