No, the lens looks way too huge. Put a 50/1.2 on there.

i've got a 50mm f/1.4 Ai-s for it (this pic was taken with said lens).
I am looking at the 50mm f/1.2 but they aren't cheap :|

I just "inherited" my granddads olympus OM10 and I took it to a photography store to get it cleaned/serviced and the guy behind the counter said he THREW away a bunch of lenses he was "never going to use." One of which was a 50mm f/1.4

Who does that?

foreward compatibility get

The hilarious thing is that you get metering, even matrix metering, with that AF lens on a ~25 year old camera. You've got to get a flagship or D200/300 to meter with a 20 year old AIs lens and you don't get matrix metering unless it's a used F4

Im so glad I dont have that problem.

Ai-s will matrix meter on FA, F6, F4 (not F5) and Dxxx/Dx
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM

Matrix is over rated!!! !!!!!!

... i actually don't know what difference it makes.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>133298
It means that the camera doesn't just second guess the exposure you want, it complicated-multidimensional-mathematical-formula-guesses the exposure you want.
>> Anonymous
>>133298
It makes sense for auto modes- on the rare (read: maybe once a year) occasion I'm using aperture or shutter priority and I have time to flick it to matrix mode, I do. If the camera's deciding the exposure, let it get the information it wants.

Shooting matrix in manual mode, OTOH, is not a good idea, since no-one but the engineers at Nikon knows the occult numerology the matrix mode runs the light through. One is almost making decisions blind with it.

What I usually do is point the spotmeter at something I want medium-gray, since that's all and exactly what a spotmeter is, if I don't have time to fiddle with test shots and histograms to overexpose the raw file. CWA is also useful when there's not time to really meter much at all, because at least one knows how it's weighted.

>>133294
Of course you don't. Your AF and MF stuff is 100% certified incompatible.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>133311
Course the post i was refering too was talking about AF lenses.
>> Anonymous
>>133298
I understand the theoretical difference, but on my camera, matrix and center-weighted metering tend to produce either equally good or equally shitty results depending on the scene...
>> Anonymous
>>133311
Okay, let me rephrase that. Minolta's 20-year old stuff is 100% incompatible with your current stuff. So don't meddle with the big boys' discussion.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>133321
Uh so my 20 year old Minolta lense on my A100 isnt happening right? Its not like the first 7000 was out in 1985 (and also featured the worlds first internal AF motor and motorised film advanced.

You seem to have forgotten who pioneered most of film photography.

>>133324
Who cares who pioneered it if it all went down the shitter?
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s

Im using it today, I dont think "going down the shitter" is quite the expression you want.

Wouldn't bother me. Smaller with real DoF scales? That'd be awesome.

Minolta? Hahahaha! Wow, that's rich.

HAHAHHAHA most of film photography my ass.

What about everyone in the 1800s shooting film before even Konishiroku KK existed? And 35mm still photography was invented by Barnack at Leica. Prisms were first made common by Pentax, as were instant return mirrors and auto diaphragms. That 7000 is built upon lots of other people's achievements.
