ITT:

your most embarrassing photographer moment.

pic - I had to convince these girls (who spent all night crying on the curb during their prom) that I was a reporter. I even had to fake an interview with a notebook. Then a cop (on horseback) asked me for my credentials in front of them. dangit.

pic is a random from this event.

Did you at least send them those night club pictures you said you'd post here?

You mean VII? VII Photos? *Jim Nachtwey's* agency?

What in the hell, Butterfly? Not even Heavyweather's at a point to be joining VII or Magnum or anyone like that.

you do realize that its your RIGHT to take pictures in a public place?

Hell, you could have shot them even if they told you to stop. Its only when they go to a place that has implied expected privacy that you have to stop.

I'm not saying be an asshole, but know your rights.

ITT: People get trolled by a fake butterfly.

thanks for the photorights link. I had not seen these all laid out like this.

Hard sometimes to find the balance between being a total photo douchebag because you "have the right to take a picture" vs. respecting privacy, etc.

This should be common photographers knowledge. I've had to state my rights in public to civilians and police many times, because many of them are so ignorant.

The laws are a little better here in Canada, though. I have the right to do just about anything but sell images that contain somebody who has not given consent, take photographs of government property, and take pictures of people inside their own home/business. And of course tresspass. Any time somebody says otherwise to me, I gladly inform them I have the right.

Would suck having some twat smash your camera, but then you can just sue them for damages.
