Can anyone tell what type of camera this girl is using?
>> ac
My guess would be a low-end Canon (Digital Rebel, Digital Rebel XT, or Digital Rebel XTi) based on the finish. Does Nikon make their cameras in silver?

Other than that, the picture's too blurry and low res to tell.

Why do you ask?
>> Anonymous
Silver, red strap, most likely Canon but who can fucking tell from a low res blurry pic
>> Anonymous
Sorry for the quality of the picture. It's just I see a lot of people using it, and I'm really curious as to what it is. It looks like a high end SLR to me though. I mean, the lens is fucking huge.
>> Anonymous
I'd say Canon 350D, or as above, low end Rebel

350D

A hot DSLR.

>>49823
> Does Nikon make their cameras in silver?
Yes, unfortunately they do.

>>49828
> It's just I see a lot of people using it. It looks like a high end SLR to me
Protip: lot of people neither need nor can afore a high end SLR.

> I mean, the lens is fucking huge.
No one is stopping you from mounting the biggest lens on the cheapest body.
>> ac
>>49828
Nope. Generally only the low-end models are available in silver finish. The prevailing fashion being that real photographers only want black bodies.

(Insert Jungle Fever joke here)

The lens means nothing. You can mount Canon's most expensive lens on a used, $20 film Rebel you picked up at a thrift store and it'll work.

I dunno but the girl on the right is fucking hot as fucking hell. Fuck.

once you go black you never go back.

Though I do pine for chrome once in a while~
>> ac
>>49859
I got my XTi in Silver because, when I bought it, for some reason Newegg was selling the silver XTi for about a hundred bucks less than the black XTi.
>> slim !yE5LOsLjxQ
wait wait wait everyone stop right there.

are you telling me that people actually consider color over technical specs when choosing multi-thousand dollar investments in camera equipment?
>> ac
>>49868
No. Other than the color, the black XTi and the silver XTi are identical. I went with the one that was cheaper.
>> Anonymous
>>49872
right but from the conversation it seems like there ARE people that exist that DO reject silver cameras as if it were important.
>> ac
>>49873
Those tend to be the people who don't buy the models that come with silver finish anyway.
>> Anonymous
It's either a 300D or 350D with a Sigma 28mm f/1.8 lens on it.
>> Anonymous
>>49878

From the size of the front element/lens hood mount, I'd say that's a 20mm f/1.8
>> Anonymous
>>49868
Of course! I'm not a random tourist! Silver SLRs are just embarrassing, I'll be using a cellphone sooner than that shit.
>> ac
>>49882
Heh. I stand corrected.

I'm actually kinda curious as to why Canon makes silver-bodied SLRs. I've never heard of anybody preferring the silver to the black (well, my girlfriend said she thought the silver was prettier, but I've never heard a silver-finish preference from a photographer)

The color difference between consumer and big-ass 'L' lenses makes sense as a marketing ploy (i.e., you see a bank of photographers with gleaming white lenses, you know they're shooting Canon), but I can't think of any real reason to have a quick way to see at a glance that some people are shooting with low-end cameras, especially when it's an unreliable indicator.

>>49886
Maybe I wouldn't object to silver so much if it was metal instead of plastic. It just looks so cheap.

I think Pentax actually has some white lenses as well.
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
>>49894

Eugh; I personally hate the look of a white lens. I don't know why, but it drives me insane.
>> ac
>>49895
Easy. It's because Nikon has cleverly implanted subliminal messages on the inside of its viewfinders to see white lenses as evil. Every time you hit the shutter button, your subconscious gets a jolt of anti-Canon fervor.

If you're ever in the same room as Fujio Mitarai and someone utters the trigger word, you'll be compelled to assassinate him.
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
>>49906

heheheh, i could see that possibility. Or it could have been from the crazy guy at the workshop over the weekend with the 800mm white lens and a HUGE tripod that annoyed everyone at the workshop. I'm not sure. To me, white just doesn't look right-- it looks too much like a toy or plastic, which someone mentioned earlier.
>> elf_man
Yeah, puts me in mind of plastic toys. Maybe not 'cheap', but definitely not professional looking.
>> ac
>>49907
I'm guessing that's just a subtle anti-Canon bias. For anyone who shoots Canon, the white lenses just scream pure, expensive, optical *sex*.

I tend to think anyone actually using one of the really big monster lenses is probably a putz. Although this situation--I.e., when you might get attacked by a lion if you use the legs method of zooming--is the one exception to that rule.

>>49911Although this situation--I.e., when you might get attacked by a lion if you use the legs method of zooming--is the one exception to that rule.

Wrong thread :)

Is it just me or does the hot shoe in the OP pic look a little tall? Maybe it's an illusion.
>> ac
>>49912
She was talking about a huge lens that, quote
>annoyed everyone at the workshop.
so I assumed she was talking about the workshop with the kitties.

I noticed the hot shoe, too. My guess is that it's a hot shoe bubble level, or one of those hot-shoe protection thingies so you can use an old hot shoe flash that doesn't conform to the voltage specs that recent cameras want to see. More likely the former, since it doesn't have an external flash attached.
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
>>49913

You are correct; I was reffering to the work shop. It was just annoying. I'm honestly not bias against Canon at all, actually. My very first camera was a Canon A-1. I miss it.
>> Anonymous
>>49883
You're right it could be the 20, 24, or 28. They all look almost exactly the same.
>> Anonymous
>>49886
On a purely aesthetic level, I like most cameras I've seen better in silver, or in mixed silver and black.

Would I ever own one? Hell no. Not because of image or anything like that, but because I prefer my cameras as unnoticable as possible, and black bodies perform much better in that department. It's a practical measure.

lol, yeah theifs care if your camera is black or silver. i know smack heads have a REAl problem mugging ppl depending on the color of their camera.

You're the kind of poster that just failed aren't you?

>>50019

yeah you know your right. most ppl cant see a camera in your hand if its black. its like it absorbs light, time and space. thank god for black electronics...keeping homes safe since 1981.
>> Anonymous
>>50022
Would you rather have something that reflects light and catches everyones eye or something that doesn't attract as much attention? You haven't traveled have you...
>> Anonymous
>>50023

good god son i hope you are trolling. do you seriously think that its going to make the difference between you being mugged or not.

it makes no difference if ive traveled or not. if your going to get mugged its going to happen. the color of your camera will make no difference. people are not magpies. we can tell a camera is a camera if its pink black blue or grey.
>> Anonymous
>>50003
1. Some people do.

2. Have you ever tried taking candid shots of people? Protip: a hard-to-notice camera is very useful. Why do you think Cartier-Bresson, Winogrand, and all the other major street photographers used small, quiet cameras, in Cartier-Bresson's case with black tape wrapped around it to make it less noticable?

>>50006
It doesn't matter whether they think you're a tourist of a professional if they don't see the camera.

Also, I think someone would be more comfortable with a professional shooting their picture than some random tourist.

>>50009
I didn't even think of theft, but that's a good point.

The point with it being stolen isn't that they won't notice it with a huge camera bag over your shoulder. Who the hell will typically carry a camera bag when they're walking in an area where it could get stolen?
