The Gx series is pretty good all around. I know that the G6 has been popular, but I'm not too familiar with the G9. (I don't go shopping around for cameras all the time.) If size is really a problem, then I'd go for a SD1000 unless in you're in euroland, then I think they have a different name for that line.
