Hey /p/, came back for more advice after some very helpful advice about buying an entry level slr, now I'm lookin' for the best macro lens I can get for under 100 pounds. Do either of these lenses sound respectful to you folks? Or could you suggest others. Thanks!

Tamron AF 55-200mm F4.5-5.6 Di II LD Macro Canon (pictured)

Sigma AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG Macro Canon Fit

I would splash out more than 100 quid if it was truely worth it, but I'm really tryin' to avoid it. I'm not lookin' for ultimate quality seein' as I've never had an slr before. Also, I don't mind gettin' real close, like not bein' able to zoom. Cheers.

I'm basically askin' 'cause I don't understand what the mm amounts and focal lengths mean, so I don't know what kind is the best for me.

Or this one:
Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens Canon Fit

That one's a bit too expensive, but is it good either?

They're both the same thing. Quid is just more of a slang term for Pounds.

quid : pound :: buck : dollar

10 seconds of your time : Google :: frustration : me

your analogy sucks.
"10 seconds of your time on google" : "frustration on me"

wat

Anyway, just about any macro lens will be fine for you. Since you don't know anything about lenses and you're looking at the low end (<$200) you don't need to worry much about the quality.

I would recommend the Canon prime (50mm) though

You must not have done well on that part of the SAT.
10 seconds of your time is the cost of asking google, frustration is the cost of asking me.

Yeah you're probably right, but I feel like I only need to be told like 5 or 6 relevant things, and then I can do what I want to.
