You just look plain bored... a self portrait should or could say something about you... it shouldn't just be an exercise in narcissism.

The lighting isn't exactly great as only the top left corner is black...

The b&w has something left to be desired. Get tutorials on adjustment curves for CS 2... what's the point of have that powerful software if you're not using it to the full potential.

34mm as a portrait is way to wide for a traditional portrait focal range. Stop your lens down to about f/8 it'll give a much better result, unless of course you have a fast and long lens.

If you want that lighting, then make sure the visible part of your face is ultra sharp. That will give people something interesting to look at. Use a lamp or something.

And turn less indie, kthx.

Try a different pose, different angle, maybe an interesting background too. Standing right in the middle, straight on is usually pretty boring unless you're stunningly attractive/famous/interesting facially.

Photo isn't my own, but another film noirishly lit one I liked.
