Hey guys,

I have a question. Since everything is in HIGH DEFINTION now, how long will it take that the first HD cameras appear? I'm thinking about to start photography but I don't want to waste my money on one now, when next year the new HD cameras will be available.
Thanks!

There are already cameras that can take photos larger than 1920x1080. If you're talking about video, lol dunno,

HD isn't a quality measurement in camera photography.

HD for a tv, now days means 1080p. Which is 1080 progressive scan lines.
This is how a hd tv displays an image. If you go up close to your tv you will see each line.

Cameras use Megapixels, not scan lines, when recording images.

>The term usually assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels. This creates a frame resolution of 1920×1080, or 2,073,600 pixels in total.
(as fence said)

HD is basically a way of displaying\recording 2megapixel images.
Cheap DSLR's now days record 10+

HD obviously means High Definition which doesn't really mean anything at all. It's just a marketing buzzword used in contrast to Standard Definition which also doesn't mean anything and simply represents "What everyone else is using". This can be applied to anything that needs "definition" be it video, audio, or pictures.

That said, High Definition as a marketing gimmick appeals to everyone's instinctive behavior of wanting to be "better than everyone else". Just like megapixels, gigahertz, gigabytes, and penis size.

and 1080p is 1080 lines and 1920 dots in each line so it's still 2 megapixels which considered HD in video but not photo.

So yes, there are cameras already that take "high resolution" (lol, same thing) photos and there are camcorders that take "high definition" video but the only all in one packages are the Canon 5D Mk2 and the Nikon D90.

I try hard not to lol about this, but Sony's marketing their P&S cameras as HD-capable (meaning they can output in HD to TVs with HDMI), but people come in all the time asking to upgrade their cameras to take pictures in HD.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Basically, I'd rather assume the OP here to be an idiot rather than a troll.
