Sexiest (new) camera ever Anonymous
I think the new NIkon P6000 is the sexiest new camera ever made.

It's got everything in the right places and pretty damn cool features.

With external flash.

That is doesn't cost $2,000. :f
>> Anonymous
how much is the p6000
the nikon does have a much sexier name
>> Anonymous

>>235761

$499

And the L1 looks fucking retarded at this angle. Yeah sure, you get the Leica lens but who the fuck wants to pay $2,000 for something this large.

The P6000 is sleek and sexy from all corners.
>> Anonymous
>>13.5 megapixel CCD (effective)

What year is it? When are we going to start seeing fucking CMOS sensors in nice, higher res cameras like this one?

I do like the new built in GPS though.

Because Sony mass produces them for just about every one and that's the way it is.

looks pretty nice with the zuiko 25mm pancake. id take one if it was MUCH cheaper, and was a girl.... id keep it in my purse. otherwise its not really worth it i guess

Last time I checked, you can't buy a L1 body by itself, it's $2,000 kit or nothing. And it's still pretty big.

But anyway, it looks like a fucking box with the 25mm. It's not even retrochic, it looks like a box.

The P6000 is HOT. I got hard when I saw it.
>> Anonymous
>>235781
lol. it is quite sexy with the flash on.

the boxy look isnt really that great looking i guess but it is practical if you want a prime :?
i guess. not really. id have the nikon...
>> Anonymous
So this is Nikon's G9?

>>235785the boxy look isnt really that great looking i guess but it is practical if you want a prime :?

Meh, if you wanted practical, there's the E-420. And it would be cheaper than the L1 too!

It looks cute but it doesn't scream sexy like the P6000 does.
>> Anonymous

>>235789

It's not a new line.

They had the P5000 and P51000 before this one but they weren't as sexy.
>> Anonymous
It looks like a great camera except for the changing raw formats bullshit. I probably would have bought one if not for that...
>> Anonymous
>>235792
aaah yeah, if you REALLY want small wait for micro 4/3s
im excited to see how that pans out

how much bigger/smaller is the 420 from the L1?
>> Anonymous
>>235799
Micro 4/3s has the potential to be awesome, but I expect they'll fuck it up with shitty electronic view finders. I would love to see a true rangefinder or, barring that, a good quality large and low distortion optical tube finder.
>> Anonymous
>>235799
As am I. But I'm still getting a 1000D when it comes out.
>> Anonymous
>>235807
they may fuck up the first one but it will probably still be popular and therefor give them money to work on the next series. as long as they dont mess up bad

i have confidence in them. they have done quite well so far.
>> Anonymous
>>235799

Oh, I only mentioned the E-420 because the other person said to put the 25mm on the L1.

I don't want small or anything, I'm just making a rant about how the P6000 is fucking sexy.

And Olympus has never made a sexy digital camera anyway.

>>235813As am I. But I'm still getting a 1000D when it comes out.

The Canon 1000D? It's been out for like 1.5 months, dude.

Not in America. It's the XS here, but I figured it wouldn't be recognizable. Hopefully the stores get some in this weekend.

Faster than the f/2.8 on the G9! And it goes wider too. 24mm vs. 35mm.
>> Anonymous
>>235856
My Ritz got it a few days ago.
>> Anonymous
The earlier Nikon compacts annoyed me by being slow at everything from focusing to navigating menus. I wonder if they'll improve that too along with the lens and design.
>> Anonymous
>>235965
>Faster than the f/2.8 on the G9!
Notr really, the difference between f/2.7 and f/2.8 is pretty much negligible, and the G9 is half a stop faster on the tele end of the lens (f/4.8 vs. f/5.9)
>> Anonymous
The small lens looks rather stupid if you ask me.

LOL @ /p/haggots seriously discussing a troll posting a $500 P&S camera.
>> i - !EoFJjFcCco
It isn't the appearance of the camera that matters, what matters are the features, the output, compatability, and how it feels in your hand.

>>236082

It was going okay until you faggots showed up.

We can take a break from the beethy trolls and faggotry that happened yesterday to just discuss which camera looks good aesthetically.

And nothing newly released beats the P6000. Nothing in this price range anyway.
>> Anonymous
>>236098
Then I suppose you're the only one that likes crappy gear threads like this. I'd rather see Beethy post some pictures then another gear thread without any meaning to it at all. Do us all a favor and go beat of to your P6000 and do not return.
>> Anonymous
>>236098
>We can take a break from the beethy trolls and faggotry that happened yesterday to just discuss which camera looks good aesthetically.

Who fucking cares?
This isn't a board for jacking off to cameras, it' a board for jacking off to PHOTOGRAPHS.
Other than ergonomics the look of a camera has NOTHING TO DO with the kinds of images it takes.

This is WORSE than most gear threads because it's so fucking superficial. At least most gear threads focus on elements of gear that make pictures look better and not just what the fucking gear looks like.
>> Anonymous
>>236128
so post some fuckin pics instead of whining about the lack of pics?

Panasonic has today announced the Lumix DMC-LX3. The camera is aimed at DSLR users who are looking for a compact camera to complement their existing SLR gear. Consequently the LX3 comes with comprehensive manual controls and a fast F2.0-F2.8 24-60mm (35mm equivalent) Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens.

srsly, anybody really read about it? can't wait to get my hands on one of those ... also: in b4 four thirds

Nikon usually makes some of the worst P&S.

Which can seem odd when people are used to their SLRs which are not comparably bad in the SLR market.

the lx3 isn't four-thirds

and if you meant people advocating micro four-thirds, it still won't be in the same category as point and shoots like the lx3. they will still be bigger and more expensive

What's wrong with that? Camera manufacturers seem to have forgotten how to design a decent camera body some time around 1989. I think a little more vintage design elements would do everybody good.

That optional viewfinder costs almost the same as the camera itself...
>> fence !!POey2hdozCZ
>>237239

i only half agree with that. i still prefer to select aperture on the lens whenever i can, since it still feels more responsive to me. but there are a lot of things from the days of mechanical linkage that can stay dead. just a few:

shutter speed wheel
ev-comp wheel
unreliable self-timers
iso wheel
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
>>237634
I'll grant you the self timer, though that's something I never use anyway. On the other hand, I hates me some button-dial-control wheel faggotry. Give me a separate wheel for each necessary control and no extra crap I don't need.

Pic related, in my opinion the very pinnacle of camera ergonomics. If only the digital version wasn't obscenely overpriced and full of issues.
>> Serenar !m827jEgWi.
>>236831
I think I'm the king vintagefag here for actually putting my money where my mouth is and the LX3 really doesn't interest me that much. It's a ton of money to pay for a camera that doesn't have interchangeable lenses, has a tiny sensor, and probably has shitty Panasonic processing. I'd rather get a normal compact like an Ixus and then have a second serious camera - a DSLR, a film camera, or my RD-1 <3

>>237666
I'm considering an M2 but I'm really not feeling the whole "FITS RIGHT IN MY HAND" thing. The shutter speed wheel looks awesome but I think the M6TTL/M7 style is much more practical, and I think an addon grip or half case would help its handling a lot.
>> Anonymous
>>237666
yeah i really hate how most old slrs dont have grips on them.

almost forgot this thread ... should have watched it ...

>>236854
anyway, yeah micro four thirds that is. it's exactly what i mean. it will most likely be onle price league higher.

am i insane? i really consider selling my little dslr gear for this (rebel xt etc ...) now, am i insane?
>> Serenar !m827jEgWi.
>>237748
A little, considering nobody knows what a Micro 4/3rds camera is like yet. At least you haven't sold it yet.
>> noclue !!2yUmAID3520
>>237752
well, i think i'll wait anyway to see what comes. maybe i will inherit some leica m pretty soon, though i dunno about it's condion or even which one it will be yet. i guess m4 ... but oh well

Too expensive, take out the useless(imo) GPS thing and lower the price.
