I keep mine on the seat next to me. Floor in front of it has so much junk on it if it slide off it's no problem. Seriously.

And you really are serious about never taking that Tokina off your camera, aren't you?

lololol
i actually dont live in the tron either, but just out of it.

The lens is great! nice and wide on my F5, but soso on my D70. Also its waaaaaaaaaay too soft wide open, but i think its just my lens thats bad, but i stop down to f/8 anyway.
Since its an Ai-s, it is MF and wont meter on my D70, and use the aperture ring to adjust the aperture on the F5 with metering.
I got it for $250 at auckland camera (www.aucklandcamera.co.nz) on New North road. They have a shit load of gear there!

On another note, i just got a 20-35mm f/2.8 from trademe for $600, should be in the post tomorrow, cannot wait!

interesting to hear from you.

im on a 30D and id love a wide prime. at the mo ive got a recently brought sigma 17-35 2.8-4.0; got it for 350 :P i reckon its alright. the results are as you said "soso" yet seeing as i probably wont get anything faster, wider or cheaper ill have to put up with it.
the other wides are still too expensive.

Sigma 24mm f1.8 is quite good, Maybe not wide enough, but other than its flare issue (don't point it at the sun lol), its an awesome lens.

this is wide open on the D70, its pretty damn soft. Stopped down its rather nice. I'm not really too interested in its speed tho, just its wideness on my F5.

(full size pic to see detail, wide open at f/3.5)

yea, see thats the thing.

i currently have a sigma 30 and a canon 50 so im looking for something that will = nice and wide on the 30D, i would love to go wider that 17, im sorta loving the messed up perspective shots i can get. but then the other thing is i need it to be fast. i love iso 100 and try not to go any higher if its at all possible so faster lenses are preffered...
its actually quite surprising that no-one has released a reasonably fast 13-14mm EF-s lens.

i mean c'mon, tokina released a slow 35mm EF-s macro prime that'll cost more than the 60mm canon...
weird priorites ay?

Forget the primes then, get an ultrawide
Sigma 10-20
Canon 10-22
Tamron 10-24 (should be out soon)

also, fucking lol at that sample.

thats borderline horrific quality man!
and thats on a crop body :S imagine how ad it would get on a film/FF body :(

sigma 2nd hand 650 new 1050
canon from 999-1195

yea. see im really fussy lol. i prefer primes, dunno why, but its just more fun and it has to be cheap/ish and fast/ish....
haha re-reading that i doubt ill ever get that lens.

guess it should /thread? or at least my contributions to it lol.

it actually looks not so bad wide open on film, still not good, but acceptable. Stopped down just to f/5.6 its like a different lens, the difference between f/3.5 and f/5.6 is just HUGE. It goes from OMG WHAT A SHIT LENS to wow, thats pretty good! I just keep it at f/8 as DOF at 17mm doesn't really change at all between stops.
>> I||ICIT !!mknjFN/v/49
yea ive seen that too with mine.
nothing really changes, except at close focussing. but honestly, why buy a wide to shoot close lol, except for fun.

will def keep an eye out for one on tardme etc and see if its worthwhile selling the sigma.
