hey i was just wondering if anyone knew how use Macro photography on a budget i mean no money no nothing i need real close up shots to use in a school project thanks L:)

i got a shit, repeat shit marco lens form Ebay $60 and for something that cheap not bad. not coated, damn fast/clear glass. worth it it all depends on the size of your lens on you camera i got a 52mm and on a 55m up you would get the lens in the shot look for Bower Fisheye with marco

Extension tubes or reversed lenses.

Don't ask me how to reverse lenses; I've never done it myself.

Tubes are easier but less fun.

On reversing your lens:
1: Unmount lens (duh).
2: Turn it 180 degrees with the front element towards the gaping hole in your camera body.
3: Open the aperture at maximum if possible (Nikon's G lenses, the one without aperture rings, are less suitable for this kinda thing.).
4: Put camera in M mode.
5: Select shutter speed you think is correct (you can't really meter the light because the lens is not attached to the body).
6: Press shutter.
7: ???
8: PROFIT!!!

Or you could reverse a lens and use a P&S. You focus by moving the object closer or farther from the rear element. This one was done with a Canon FD 50mm 1.4. 100% crop.

Though it's kinda hard because you have a very shallow DOF and it's best done if the camera, lens, and object are completely stationary like on a table because not that much light gets in so you have to do a long exposure.

Here's a really small pebble (about the size of 3 grains of rice) on top of a coin. See how the edges are out of focus.
