I just bought this el cheapo Soviet teleconverter to turn my 500mm/f5.6 lens into a 1000mm/f11 one (1000mm on a 2x crop factor Olympus = woohoo).

A teleconverter is a solid piece of optics, it doesn't have any moving parts, so how does dust get between the lenses? Moreover, how does the fucking SPIDER WEB get inside when there are no holes, or at least no holes big enough for the smallest spider to get into? I took the converter apart and cleaned the lenses, but it still puzzles me...

Fungus sure looks like a spiderweb sometimes.

I hope that fungus doesn't feed on the lens coatings

2000mm equivalent due to crop factor, actually.
I bought the converter mostly for the lol factor of having a 2 meter lens, since even at 1000mm slight haze and/or hot air streams result in blurry photos like this (100% crop) - must be much worse at 2000... But I'll post photos when I'll get worthy ones.
