new toy came today :)

question: what is the best battery grip to get? i heard the canon made ones (bg-e2, bg-e2n) don't fit flush. but do they fit tightly to the camera? are they sloppy feeling? how are the aftermarket ones? the targus doesn't look half bad...

Nothing wrong with the Canon ones about anything.

And the off-brand ones on Amazon are just rebadged. They look, feel and work the same. Just cheaper and no Canon logo.

I played with a friend's 350D and his 10-22... oh lord that is a sweet lens. I really really really need something similar... hoping the new Tamron will be a good one.

Shot anything yet? I demand you sacrifice some to /p/

the lens: i debated for a long time about sigma/tamron but just shelled out for the canon, i am really satisified. came about 10 minutes before i had to leave for work but i managed to go outside and take a picture that is out of focus, looking straight into the sun, etc. epic win.

the grip: rumors the aftermarket ones use the same mold, but the electronics are concerning...i read about the opteka grip having shutter issues, where only SOMETIMES it would work. also saw reviews that said the camera wouldn't turn on at all. haven't heard anything bad about targus but just wondering if anyone here has it!

I have the opteka on my xti, and its excellent, never had an issue with the camera acting weird or shutting off, but the shutter on the grip (in portrait mode) isn't quite as tactile as the shutter on the camera. Overall im very happy....

LOL, OP.

My camera is also sitting on my desk next to that very same box.

It's a brilliant lens!!

I hate the fact that not a single camera shop in Toronto sells Opteka battery packs. I hate buying shit online.

I have a d80 and I am also thinking of getting an opteka pack. I know the mold is the same, but I heard that the function and shutter buttons aren't that well. Any experiences with it ?

why would you want the battery grip though? Its almost functionless on a D80.
The D300 on the other hand unlocks a faster FPS, But other than the bit of extra battery life, you get a Bulky ass camera and a vertical shutter release that seems to be designed for left handed people...
