Nice to see someone can develop film without dropping a pound of mixed pocket lint and pubes onto it.

Thanks, we try. I've found that using an archival process after development cuts down on the static and I don't have to squeegee (no scratches!). So have you guessed the film yet? Kodak hasn't made this one for quite a while (the expire date is 1989).

I like this alot.

/p/ needs more film.

i'm gonna guess kodak pan-x.

(full disclosure: i googled "kodak film discontinued 1989")

i would guess technical pan or maybe one of their other fine-grained scientific films, but technical pan wasn't discontinued until a few years back.
>> Anonymous !MjcMqTX/iM
Obviously Pan-x, due to the Kodak Safety Film 5060 on top.

Close, but I can't accept your answers. "Pan" is a part of it's name. What's the full name?

Winner gets my full respect for one internet minute!

Panatomic-X. Lucky bastard.

But I was probably as happy when I scored the roll shown to the right.

And still the saddest thing is how Kodak scrapped Academy. It was so bad one just couldn't not love it.

ITT discontinued or otherwise hard to acquire film that we've acquired.

Can you guys tell a new/p/ag what's the relevance of this film?
>> fence !!POey2hdozCZ

panatomic-x hails from the days when kodak made all sorts of great, obscure technical films. it was basically just 32 ASA film with super sharp grain. the slowest black and white film that kodak makes nowadays is TMAX 100, although it's arguably as sharp now as pan-x was back then.

and ac, i hate to rain on your parade, but you can still buy kodachrome 64 for seven bucks a roll at B&H, eleven at adorama. it's not exactly obscure, just hard to process.

Yeah, but it's not actually being produced anymore. There is a set amount of Kodachrome left in the world.

Wait until tonight. I'll take a shot of my Polaroid instant slide film. That's some rare shit.

oh shit. so stood you corrected by me, so i stand by you.

kodachrome being completely discontinued disapopoints me, but it doesn't surprise me. kodak's more responsible for the demise of film than anyone. they had the single greatest legacy in probably all of photography, and they dropped it at the slightest whiff of digital photography. At least fujifilm and ilford's reasonable facsimile are introducing excellent new films on almost a year-to-year basis. at the rate that kodak's discontinuing film, i'd be surprised if we can buy even tri-x or tmax in 8 years.

Yep. The problem is that Kodak has always been 99% targeted squarely at the absolute lowest end of the photography world. I.e., the people who didn't really care what film they picked up so long as it was cheap and not too grainy. So they completely alienated the sort of photographers who will repeatedly buy the same brand of film because they've gotten to know its response curves and grain characteristics and whatnot and know how to work with them. It's not just digital that made Kodak drop a lot of it's film, it's just that they've come out with different films that they could make and develop more cheaply.

The first thing I thought of when I saw "safety film" was SAFETY DANCE.

Yes, folks! Only Panatomic-X will do! For those fine grained exposures with just a little off the red side, choose Panatomic-X!
