Don't be like me. I bought 3 rolls of Velvia 100 and realized, "hey, I don't have a light table of any sort." Needless to say, I have yet to use those rolls yet. I'm going to build my own makeshift light table this summer. You certainly don't need one, but it's definitley useful if you want to continue shooting slide film (or just get a projector). Also, try to find a good developer in your area for slide film as well. There was a previous thread on /p/ about some slide film being mishandled and that just makes me wary of using slide film in general. Slide film does not forgive, or forgive easily. It'll be a good test of your photography skills the first time you use it.

And if you don't want to do any research like I did before:

I have not tried slide film, mainly because it costs a fortune to get and to develop. Not really worth it for me, but gives good results!

I just checked the price at one place I enjoy giving my buisness too and a roll of Fuji Velvia 100 ASA 135-36 will cost AU$20 bucks. $20!!! To eBay!

I got mine for $7 a roll. Not thrilling. :/

I'm>>46471. I got mine for $5.55. It wasn't as expensive as I thought so I figured I'd get it.

Alas, I won't find anyplace that sells it for $7 bucks a roll. Film is kind of expensive over here. But I have a big stash of stuff which needs using up before I get any more.

I must say tho, the best film I ever got cost me 2 bucks a roll and nothing else compares. Sadly, it was AGFA and is no longer in production because they fired everyone and made millions doing it!

Yes... I do like the 50 better; especially when I push it to 100, but since the 50 is no longer attainable, the 100 does just fine, too.

Well, my old place closed down and I was getting a killer deal on my film, but it got replaced with a Calumet Camera. I have a place where I can get my film sent to me at a cheaper price, but it's a me-discount cause I was going there for 12 odd years.

Word on the street -- and by street, I mean Wikipedia -- is that there's a new Velvia 50 coming out in mid 2007. GET PUMPED!

Fuji's website says it's coming back, too.

I know kodak does too, which is why I mentioned both, but for my purposes/photographs Fujifilm seems to come out better.
