/p/, need to chose between those 2.

Canon EOS Rebel XS with the 18-55 IS kit.

or

Nikon D60 with the VR 18-55 kit.

Need serious advices please, personnal ones are welcomed.

uh if you don't mind the no auto focus with most Nikon lenses go D60, Canon's have white balance and focus issues.

Wrong. The one that comes with the D60 kit is AF/VR.

The one that comes with, yes. But as he said, most Nikon lenses, even ones that say AF, won't autofocus on it.

Personally I've lived this far without AF (My lens has AF but I choose to use the manual focus for nostalgic purposes, I used to use a Canon AE-1). If I were you I would go Nikon since the XS has issues... sadly. Back, when I needed a cheap dSLR I was heavily considering it.

If you particularly want Live View then go for the Canon, if not I'd definitely recommend the Nikon. Cheaper, lens is sharper, metering is better.

Yes, old lenses won't auto-focus, but then Canon aren't exactly ideal with their 3 different lens mounts either.
