hey /p/, do you think I could win some tiny-ass little local contest for my small town? I sent in some photos a few years ago to the annual contest and didn't get even an honorable mention, nevermind 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.
Pic is probably what I would submit, although I took a series of the same shot and I don't know which to pick yet.
I'm rather disappointed because the sunset was far more amazing than this, but I barely got my camera there in time to catch anything, and I'm not going to see a sunset like that again for months.
Don't mind the file name, I shot it recently.
Also, willing to photoshop a little if it'll help.

i think the first is a better, the second has a green hue to everything, even the water, try sharpning the clouds a little bit and increasion the exposure on the terrain a little bit so you get a small ammount of detail

well then have a slightly higher exposure (I think, wish I knew how to read my own damn exif data)
it's zoomed out a tiny bit less, but I can crop it to be like OP

if anything, I was worried the center of the pic was OVER exposed. And I can't make it sharper. That's just what my camera does. I suppose i could have reduced the ISO but then it would have been an even worse exposure, and I don't have a (working)tripod.

I agree, OP should have used HDR

Sunset pictures don't win contests unless there is something really unique about them.
Usually an interesting foreground.

What else do you have?

Well it's a contest based on needing the picture to involve lakes or swamps in my area.
I have others but I forgot to get them off my camera. I'll do it some other time.

I personally like the OP shot better than the further out one
