anybody into underwater photography?

I'd love to take my dslr underwater, but the though of putting thousands of dollars of expensive optical equipment in the ocean makes my stomach a little queasy.

I think for now i'll just stick wtih underwater instant cameras, but any other anons have any underwater experience?

If you are, investing in a Nikonos is probably worth it.

my dad has a fuji finepix with underwater case that he got for diving with, the results were pretty good considering the bulk of the case etc.

Nothing professional, but eh

i had a quick look into it just recently, and to get a simple "bsg" style case thats good for about 10'(feet?) is pretty reasonable, but to get anything half decent waterproof, i.e over 10' will run into the thousands for any slr... though these are professional cases that are good for 100-300' and can adapt to any lens and have all controls accessible.

it annoying how someone hasnt come up with an inbetween sort of snorkling/surfing case that isnt gonna run more than a decent lens will...

Yeah, I was wondering what BattleStar Galactica had to do with anything.
