I need a new reflex under 700$, no clue what to buy, help me out.

D60 has VR on it's lens (the one in the kit).
Canon XSi has..nothing?
What else?

No, the newer (more expensive) XSi comes with an IS/USM lens. The older (less expensive) XTi comes without any special featured kit lens.

Also, I've not used it extensively, but the Sony Alpha series impressed me for the price (on the lower-end dSLR.) You can use old KM glass as well as a more limited newer glass, and all are stabilized at the sensor level, so no need for special lenses for IS.

Also canon's cheaper lenses are poorly built, the Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II has reports of literally falling apart, glue separating on the lenses, why should you care? Because everyone should own a nifty fifty, they're cheap and sharp but if you want a 50mm that will last you will have to fork out extra $ for the f/1.4 from Canon, the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 offering doesn't have this issue but will only focus and expose on a D80.
