unless your CCD is about 12 inches high (EXIF says it is not) that is not macro. macro refers only to images in which the image size on the focal plane is as big or larger than the object photographed.

not macro but a good photo

how about setting it on a clear glass and have it leveled, have a dark purple or black background, and set a spot light over it or something, thatll make it look more interesting
>> Anonymous
he never said it was a macro shot, only that it was a macro studio

ATTENTION EVERYONE LOOKING AT THIS THREAD: The OP never states he was taking macro photos, just using a macro studio, or a lightbox.
>> Anonymous
I'm quite impressed with the ingenuity of your mini studio!

I shall experiment with such things in the future ;)

Wrong. Many companies sell Macro lenses that only go up to 1:2, and lenses that go above 1:1 are basically unheard of without using extension tubes or add-on optical elements.

Macro is what you make of it. I have some photos of an insect where you can see individual hairs on his legs and the eyespots inside his eyes, and he fills nearly the whole frame, but it was taken at 1:2. Does that make it not a macro photo?

well no, youre wrong. technically, the definition of macro was 1:1 magnification. nowadays however, its usually just used as a close up picture of something.

>> definition of macro was 1:1

When was this exactly? My Asahi (Pentax) "Macro-Takumars", a 50mm f/4 and a 100mm f/4, were both built around 1968-72. Those were AoCO's professional-grade lenses, not no-name consumer stuff. They carry the Macro name, yet they only go up to 1:2.

I don't doubt that _someone_ defined macro as 1:1 magnification, but it certainly was never a universal definition.
