Any strobists from Toronto here? Where do you guys get your equipment?

what the fuck is a strobist? do you just have to read the strobist website to have that title?

You also have to be a trendy tool.

Henry's, Aden, Downtown Camera, Vistek will have whatever you need, but you're paying for it. Henry's or Downtown IIRC sells the oh-so-important Vivitar 285HV, albeit at twice the price you can find online since there's no authorized Canadian distributor.

But really, if you're in Toronto and lost for places for photo gear, dude, you need to get out more. Queen and Church, or further East to Vistek, or around Yonge and college for Aden. Let your budget run wild!

Sucks at using light and is angry other people are figuring it out. Baww more faggot.

proves my point.

Using light != using flash.
Making light = using flash.
Learning how to make light = good.
The website "The Strobist" = a good resource for learning it.
The guy's (I forget his name) style = not too different from run-of-the-mill contemporary magazine editorial. Not bad, just not great.
A hundred thousand trendy tools...
Copying this guy's style = failing at mediocrity.
Calling themselves "strobists" just because they use off-camera flash = just plain stupid.
Figuring anyone who prefers available light or who calls them out on their bullshit is a nub who doesn't know how to use flash like them and their Supreme Guru = a plague on contemporary photoraphy, the nadir of Internet photography stupidity.

just keep on being stupid, then, while other people who have an interest photography are able to speak with precision on the subject.
