Noob question, /p/. I just bought one of those Canon AF35M cameras, my first film camera, and looking around on the Internet I can't find a tutorial on how to load film if it doesn't have automatic loading. How do I do it?

The take-up spool has a little hook in one of those slits. Even if it's on the side opposite to the film roll, inserting the thin part (called leader) into the slit and rotating the spool will make the film latch onto it. Cock one shot and fire it, close the lid and everything should be in order. Fire two blank shots to get past the area wasted when loading, and at the third, you're ready to go.

Pull the tab that sticks out of the roll to the righthand side (duh), and just wedge it into the little tabs on the right spindle. You don't need to stick very much in at all.

In fact, what's more important is that those little rivets line up and pull the film along by by it's tracks.

Close it, take a practice shot (assume that's dead) and the everything should be set.

You could do it 185704's way, but I've always gotten the second shot I've taken to come out fine . . .

Uh...the AF35M is about as close as you can get to automatic loading without actually being automatic.
