sup /p/

what do you use as your walking around lens?

Picture related, sadly.

Minolta 28-135mm (72mm Filter Diameter)

Sharp as fuck. Heavy, though, it's 1.0kg. My manly arms and shoulders can take the weight of it though (and the A100 body is cheap and plastic-y, so it all evens out)

Nikor 50/1.8 or a Pentacon 50/1.8 depending on which camera I'm carrying... I have no cool lenses... : (

tamron 28-75 2.8

I don't think you have manly arms. Enjoy the weight.
If I'm wrong, PICS!!!

How does that compare to the 17-50? I find if I want to be closer than 50, I swap to my 70-200 2.8.

I just never feel the need to cover that 50-70 range with glass.

>>121659

a lens is a lens dude. Don't be sad about it.

I'm sure you're capable of shooting stuff that puts most of /p/ to shame.

And my walk around lens these days is the nikkor 17-55mm... though i should say lug around.. it's heavy as fuck. When i can be bothered getting a tricep work out whilst shooting i use the 50mm 1.4

I find fixed focal lengths are so much better for you in terms of composition, like you get used to the distance at which you have to stand to get the shot. With the zoom... i get lazy

i'm thinking of getting a 50/f1.4.

yay nay?

Sigma 30mm 1.4

I wish I understood lenses... They are so confusing. I'm trying to get a lens for my Nikon EM and... There are a billion brands and abbreviations and things. I have no idea what to even look for. I was just thinking a macro might be fun to play with and have been scouring ebay for an hour now trying to figure out what the hell evertying is. : (

>>121678
Buy a 28mm prime; almost exactly the diagonal/perfect normal of a DX sensor. You'll never look back, except maybe to buy a wider prime.

(Or the Sigma 30/1.4 or a 35mm lens, but I'd go with a 28. Your call.)

On my 20D. I don't really use wide angle a lot.

SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4.

>> Jeremo
>>121688

Are you talking about the 28mm 1.4?

I would love one. But don't have the 2000 Dollars to get one... that's even if i can find one. There was one on ebay a few weeks ago. Disappeared real quick.

The 28mm 2.8 is a bit slow. I'd prefer the extra two stops.

What the heck is this thing? It's billed as a "Perspective Control Lens".... Zomg?

24mm f/2.8 Nikkor on my D200, 50mm f/2 Summicron on my M3.

Nikon for the brand. AI, AI-S, AI-P, AF, or AFD will all work on your camera. Obviously AF and AFD will still be manual focus only, but they will work fine. Pre-AI won't work because your camera doesn't have the indexing tab, and G won't work because they don't have aperture rings. The abbreviations IF, ED, D, and VR have to do with various optical properties and don't affect mount compatibility.

mainly for architecture. or whenever you want to reduce eliminate perspective distortion.

my walk around lens?
heh as some of you may already noticed i've civil unioned my Tokina 17mm to my F5.
>> Anonymous
My walk around lens would be the nikon 17-50 f/2.8 or the tamron 17-50 f/2.8...I haven't decided which one I should get, but either of those two would be the one. For now it is my nikon 50 mm f/1.8

No, I know those things are insanely expensive. Large, too.

I had in mind the 28/1.8 Sigma when I wrote that, or if you don't mind manually focusing, an old Nikkor 28/2 AI or AI-S, which are supposedly great lenses. You've got a D200, right? And if the magnification isn't enough, I know Nikon makes a magnifying eyepiece I've heard nothing but good about.

Super wide but its massivly slow, i use it for clubbing a lot (which im sure it hates) and i'm tired of working at f5.6

Next lense will be the 20-40/2.8 sigma or its replacements (20-60/2.8 or 20-70/2.8)

i could easily live with just using

adding a da*200mm would be nice, but not really mission critical.

Lol are all the DSLR's the same?

When I take MX pics I usually have a D200 with 80-200 on there, and then my D50 with the sigma 10-20 slung around my neck, That way for those impulse moments I can still get a wide angle shot with less than 5 seconds notice.
