nature don't want me taking pics of it Anonymous
I went hiking today with great plans of taking hundreds of macro and wide pictures. But right when I got out to the forest it begun raining, a lot, and I had to hide under a tree protecting my not-weather proof camera. While standing there I was attacked by unlimited numbers of mosquitoes. After a while the rain stop and I could finally take out my camera again and start taking pictures. While taking my first macros of a snail I notice a few really large wasps flying around me. And then a few more, and soon a lot of them were all around me, bouncing onto me and crawling on my shirt. I run away a few hundred feet, with the wasps following me, so I kept running, and they kept following me, until I run back out to the car, and drove back home. Oh well, gonna give it a new try tomorrow.

Am I cursed or is that how nature photography usually is?

Well, nature photography in a wet forest is going to be Unlimited Mosquito Works. Use an insect repellent, pay attention to the weather forecast, and don't ever try to take photos of bears with flash.

Don't feel bad, anon. Some days are better than others, but unfortunately it's an unbalanced ratio where you'll have approximately 2-3 bad days for each good one. Some days you'll end up thinking along the lines of the song I currently listen to by eurobeat "artist" Ann Sinclare, "I Need a Miracle". Also: Watch the fuck out where you place your feet - nature's a fickle bitch! When you're out with a camera she'll dish out one thing worse than the other, insects, rain, high temperatures and fucking neck-snapping CLIFFS, so watch out, my dear anon.

You aren't cursed. That's just how things happen. Good days and bad days. Sometimes you'll see all sorts of creatures, other times you'll have nothing at all. Just go back out there.

Could be worse. When Ansel Adams would get rained on and attacked by wasps, he was doing it while lugging around an 8x10 view camera.

Nature photography is pretty difficult at times. But if you want to feel inspired go watch Planet Earth (the BBC version fuck Discovery Channel)

Well damn, doesn't that just suck for you. Maybe God hates you. Or maybe it's just the wasps. Either way, you just suck.

either that or the sun will be blazing with absolutely no clouds in the sky so that all your photos will be blown out...
