And by the way, most other DSLRs probably would've, too. There's no patent on MagicCameraGuard 9000. Nikon, Pentax, etc. all make 'em the same way.
Leica, on the other hand, has MagicCameraGuard 18000: A Leicaflex SL2 with a motordrive and a 35mm Summicron fell from a fighter jet flying at 25,000 feet and survived, body, lens, and drive. What it was doing either mounted externally, or some photographer throwing the canopy open and dropping it, I don't know.
