Hey /p/. My DSLR is in the shop right now getting fix'd (the memory card slots are fucked, both of them). Not having it around has made me realize I need a second camera, maybe a point-and-click. Recommend some good compacts plz.

Pic related, it's my poor, poor camera.

The 500 is a nice camera. You can probably get second one for cheap...

Powershot A590 IS is your best bet. If you have money, you could get a G9, but it's not really worth more than twice the price. Just keep in mind that no point and shoot is good with low light, so you might as well get a small, quiet one.

I got mine for cheap enough (it wasn't new, it was a factory demo). I'm looking for a good compact though. I heard Sigma makes a great one but I'm still wanting to do some research here and there. I'll look into all the suggestions made, thanks guys.

Sigma DP1 has a sensor that's on par with DSLRs, but _everything_ else in it sucks enormous cocks.

Really? That's lame. Scratch that one off the list then. Maybe I'll just get the A590 IS.

Best choice IMO

That's the story of every Sigma product. Great optics/sensors wrapped in poorly-engineered plastic.
