has anyone else noticed that a lot of people posting images here are using entry-ish level DSLRs or even P&s's but are using programs like CS3 to PP/PS there images.

doesnt this seem stupid considering CS3 retails for 649US while a canon XTi retails for 600 incl the kit lens.

am i wrongly assuming that everyone purchases there copies of these programs or is it more of a case of haxxed editions/trials?
my point of view is id much rather have that money for a better camera and better lenses that allow more creativity rather than paying and relying on a computer program.

opinions? and your personal situation?

Welcome to the internet.

Is this a troll?

Probably, but if you're not, then of course people are pirating software. If cameras were as easy to 'steal' then you'd see half the people around here with 5D's.

Who the fuck pays for software? I guess if you use it to earn money, you should buy it, but most of us are penniless bums who could never afford fancy software.
I bought my nice Minolta film camera for $40 from a "friend"... it's likely stolen too, so I don't keep a double standard like most pussy-ass software pirates. Almost my whole rig is illicitly-gotten or DIY'd.

this is the internet, as if anyone on here really pays for software.

security for software on the internet is like putting a sign on a big pile of money that says "please don't take this money. this is my money. if i find out you took my money i'll try to get you"

and then everyone grabs a handful and the corporation can't chase down every single one

Yeah I didn't pay for my CS3, It's alright though I'm behind 7 proxies.

lol.. Adobe doesnt even care. They never expected private customers to buy photoshop. Its meant for schools, companies, and people making money from their pics. In fact.. I bet this limmited piracy serves in their own favour. Think about it.. No amature photographer/designer/whatever would buy photoshop anyways.. We cant afford it. However, if we do make pros one day, we will probably buy licensed versions from that point on, and already be used to adobes software.

I'd rather Aperture, anyway.

i paid for my copy, but i got it with the academic discount. i also paid for dreamweaver and painter that way. before you laugh, i was on dial-up back then. it would have taken me weeks to download all of those, whereas a week's pay bought me all three. it made economic sense to me.

and it's not like photoshop is a massive cost to upgrade. last time i checked, they'll let you upgrade from any version to cs3 for like, 180 bucks. pretty cheap. not free, but not 600 bucks all over again.
