Okay, so /p/, I've had my camera for a while, and I've been reading, and shooting, and working on improving. But I think I may have reached a point where without some constructive criticism I will have a hard time figuring out what I am doing wrong/right/could be doing better.

So far I'm self taught, I am taking a class next quarter, which hopefully will supply more constructive criticism, but I was hoping that for now, I could post a few pictures and you would tell me what you like/don't like/would like with some more work. Thanks.

I believe this image is underexposed. Also, I would of used a circular polarizer To bring out the sky more. Another thing is that castles position just really awkward. Good luck with that class.

Are you paying for that class? It's probably better that you self study, rather than wasting your money on a silly photography class that you can teach to yourself.

good stuff! please post moar!
i also think classes won't get you anything constructive.

Very nice photo agree completely with>>102948

personally for this shot i would have gone with "sweeping vista" or something similar to the test crop here.

I love the moon photo, any chane you have a larger version?

This one is beautiful, but it would be helpful if there was more light on the subject (taken at sunrise? Sunset?) Not enough contrast here; castle blends in too much with the rest of the mountain. If you ever go back, try moving a bit to the left, that way you can still get the curve of the mountain, but the composition and view of the castle will be a better. However, it's still very beautiful! :D Where are you located?

>>102944
This one is very beautiful too, but I can't seem to tell if it is in focus or not, my eyes can't find a sharp point. Since you're shooting at night, or early morning, did you use a tripod? If you dont' already have one, i'd highly recommend it. Compositions much better on this one, but to balance things out a little bit more i'd recommend cropping off maybe 1 and a half, 2 inches on the side so it's tighter.

Keep it up, they look cool. JMHO :)

i think your original crop is special. has a lot of depth, and "massiveness".

>>102965
Oh at no point was i saying thres anything wrong with his crop, just a diff pair of eyes sees a diff picture i guess.

Both photos are still amazing

totally no problem. internets would be pointless without different opinions shared, right?

I remember that castle, it's in Fussen, isn't it. I have to agree with some of the replies, the castle and the trees are a bit underexposed; maybe buy a ndgrad so that you can expose the caste and the sky evenly.

I'm at the point in college where I need filler. Easy grade point boost, and the ability to spend college financial aid on gear with some sort of justification sounds like a go to me.

Yeah, its Neu Schwanstein by Fussen. Me and my girlfriend came to Germany for my birthday, and of course I had to bring the camera.

The related, but not that great, picture is of the bridge we had to climb to in order to get the OP picture.

oh god, I remember that bridge. Normally I wasn't afraid of heights, but with 50+ tourists on the bridge at the same time, well...you know. Next time, I won't go during peak travel dates.

>>103292
Yeah, the benefit of going when there is over a foot of snow is not many run of the mill tourists are willing to trudge up a mountain to get to a bridge that is 300 feet over a waterfall, that would spell certain doom were one to fall.

to much sky, little under exposed snow and so, would try using custom wb also, else nice pic =)

I love this picture. Only complaint I have is the composition seems a little off. The castle's placement seems to be awkward.

I have untrained eyes though. Maybe there's something else that's making me think it's the composition like the underexposure.

Still a fabulous shot, I'm just trying to provide some criticism.
