What state are you in? Earlier this year I found a "antique steam and gas engine museum" i.e. a place that's called a museum, but it's just a place for a bunch of guys to get together and work on old machines. There are harvesters, thresters, steam engines, pistons, parts, cranes, drilling machines, all SORTS of cool stuff that are just sitting there, waiting to be photographed. Pretty much anyone can get it (you can technically sneak in about paying memberships, no one pay attention, but we went in and bought a year long membership anyway). It's absolutely wonderful. I stumbled across it on accident. Dumping grounds, old abandoned farms and wheat fields are great for photographing, too.
