Like anyone else, I like the finest picture quality possible. Will changing the DPI positively affect my picture quality? If so, what setting do you usually use for best print quality?

umm... dpi has nothing to do with it, unless you're scanning negatives or something. What you should be doing for optimal results is shooting raws (if available) or the highest quality jpegs possible, at the lowest iso possible, and then manually adjusting the exposure/color balance. this is possibly overkill for the output of a p&s like you're using.

oh and don't point the camera at the sun. color fringing is a big issue with the tiny sensor on your camera.

300 DPI for smaller prints, 254 for ones over 18x24 cm which you look at from certain distance. These are standard values used by labs, going lower will give you pixels.

not everyone needs a 10MP+ DSLR to take pictures, especially if they're just snapshots... does the EXIF data from an otherwise "picture not related" image really matter?
