is... that a magnifying glass that screws on the front of your camera?

I know nothing about them but that it just sounds like a really stupid idea

Get a bellows imo from ebay, if you shop around you can get one for like 30$

you lose the ability to focus to infinity, and with cheap ones you lose auto focus but it's economical and you can easily switch between normal macro and telephoto macro

Actually the ones that are made specifically for lenses, And a few Nikon (expensive as fuck) Ones. Can be decent, I had a Sigma 90mm f2.8 Macro that focused down to 1:2, but with the "close up filter" could go to 1:1.
It was an official product that came with the lens.

Bellows = infinitely better for quality HOWEVER, they aren't as convenient.

With a comment like that, are you a rangefinder user by any chance?

If I could afford a good one I would be. Used a viewfinder ziess ikon for film for awhile because it has awesome glass. Switched recently to a medium format film camera though, optics just about as good.

Rangefinderfag here. You can get a sweet one for cheap, like a Yashica Electro 35 GSN.

or you can go cheaper and get a G or GS

or I could save money and get the Large Format range finder I've been eyeing

then take truly epic with with zooms of particular areas of interest stitched to final production while having the possibility to print as fucking as I want.

that works too
