EM? Anonymous
I've been doing a little digital photography for a few years now, and recently decided to try out some 35mm goodness. My first camera is my dads old Nikon EM. Anything you guys can tell me about it? and are there any lenses/filters i should get?

filter: polarizer.
lens: what do you like to shoot?

The EM is probably the only camera I've used that I dislike more than the canon ae-1, at least the ae-1 can be kicked it into awkward manual.
It's basically an aperture priority point and shoot. Stick a pamcaeks on it and you've got a great almost-pocketable camera, though :3

a polarizer seems to be one of the smartest things you can get for your camera

How about getting a decent lens, or technical skill first before everyone becomes polarization whores.

That's first, yes, but if you take a great shot, but the sky is overexposed and washed out, then shot just doesn't come off all that great. That's all i'm saying. I've had many friends start off without a polarizer, and get these great shots, but they're overexposed and washed out. Otherwise they've had issues that could've been corrected with a polarizor.

Of course learning how to use your camera and the technical skill, etc, is important. Lens depends on what type of photography you want to do.
