Hai /p/
Wondering what technique you guys use while autofocusing
~ I take the central focuspoint of my viewfinder, focus on the eye, reframe, then pop.

Works pretty well if i'm outside, but indoors it bites.

Wondering what technique you guys use for breathing
~ I inhale using my mouth or nose, take that oxygen and push it down my lungs, exhale and repeat.

Works pretty well if i'm outside, but underwater it btes.

How should i focus in doors?
my eyesites kinda shit so doing manually is difficult.
should i use laser pointers or something if i'm strobing?

lol and I assume you have a camera with a viewfinder large enough to get perfect focus.

If your camera has a small viewfinder then your AF is definitely shit

Indoors when your lens is 'hunting' a lot, just pop up your internal flash for easy focus (half press, flash will fire bursts to focus). Then close flash while still half pressing, and shoot!
I actually just figured out this is possible by trying it with my 400D.

Any DSLR above entry level should be good for manually focusing, even unaided.

If you have an entry level DSLR I can't help you.

Enjoy losing all candid-ness.

Larger finder is great, but if you've got the 40D your EXIF shows, you should be fine.

Pic related, 40D, f/1.4, medium tele, moving subject. Unless I've got some magic focusing pixie dust- I don't- you can do it, too.

(Yes this is a repost.)

thats your problem, when you have shallow DoF you can't focus on a point and then recompose your picture

I was wondering...

Since AF in lowlight always blows, why can't you get a split circle/multi-prism manual focus assist? I grew up shooting with a Minolta X-700 and really miss those things. Why can't you have that AND the laser auto-focus (and of course, auto-focus laser confirmation light for manual focus)? I mean, I would prefer to have all of those.

You can get a focusing screen for your DSLR. Google "Katz Eye."

As for focus confirmation, I've found it to be worth nothing wide open. Light goes on far in either direction.

You know, I took a look on BHPhoto and didn't see any (except for the shitty checkerboard ones) about a year ago, so I just assumed that most people didn't want 'em and they were hard to find.

Thanks for delivering, Anon.
