wtf is Sigma thinking?! this must be promotional piece.

i mean it's capabilities are tight, but damn, who'd actually lug this thing around and shoot with it. it's a fucking cannon.

oh yeah, specs:

APO 200-500mm F2.8 EX DG

The APO 200-500mm F2.8 EX DG is the world’s first Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens that offers a fast aperture of F2.8 at 500mm focal length. It covers the widely used 200 to 500mm focal length range, and maintains its fast F2.8 aperture over the entire zoom range. Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations and produce a high level of optical performance throughout the entire zoom range.

Shooting distance and focal length can be viewed on the lens’ LCD panel, which is an additional convenience for the photographer.

A filter can be inserted towards the rear of the lens, and a circular polarizing filter can be used with its ingenious rotation mechanism.

A dedicated APO TELE CONVERTER 2x EX DG II is supplied as a standard accessory with the APO 200-500mm F2.8 EX DG.

Its exclusive design minimises image degradation usually associated with teleconverters. When this dedicated teleconverter is used with the APO 200-500mm F2.8 EX DG lens , it becomes a large aperture 400-1000mm F5.6 AF Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens.

No, it's a fucking Sigma. Canon lenses of this size are white. ;)

Yeah, this is definitely a lens marketed to the "More money than sense" crowd. Maybe useful for people who really, really need an f/2.8 at 500mm. I'm assuming the only customers for this lens will be people or organizations rich enough to hire people specifically to carry it around.

Do it! Embrace your inner /b/tard, you know you want it!

I thought it was the cockmongler at first.

Sports photographers would use it. I can't imagine who else, it's too big for use in the field.

Sigma 200-500, when your insecure about your penis size...
>> bw !ef8V18P/FY
Photographers on some other forums area already starting to call it Sigzilla.

Not just sports shooters, I imagine that wildlife shooters would love a sharp 400-1000/5.6. And you can bet this thing will be sharp; Sigma can't afford for it not to be.

I don't do wildlife photography much at all, but I imagine that if I was a wildlife photographer, I'd hate to schlep that thing through the fucking jungle.

The only benefit for them would be that they could just knock the lion unconcious with a swing of them their camera, as opposed to getting in the car.

You know how much pussy I would get if I had that lens.

Absolutely none.

Yeah, but you could take pictures of pussies from like a mile away with it.

not a whole lot, but at least you could say yours was bigger and longer than everyone elses.

anyone know what pricing they're attaching to this... thing?

And how would one do this? Few areas have a one mile unobstructed view from the window of a girl's bedroom.

And besides, the aperture wouldn't matter. There's other supertelephoto lens; this one is only special because it stops down to f/2.8 and ergo is way too damned big.
>> ac
>>46671
What do you mean? Inside the girl's apartment there'll be poor lighting. And you certainly can't use flash in this situation. The f/2.8 would be a godsend.

Don't most superzooms go to f/5.6?

One could shoot in a normally lit room at f/5.6 with a high ISO. And honestly, for pussy shots, noise isn't an issue.

And besides, if you care that much about seeing photographs of a vagina, just go to /s/.

>>46674
Without a flash, A Normally lit room at f5.6 would require a tripod and a very still subject.
So it does matter

I see potential use for this monster. just need to mount it on a custom tripod system that is fastened to a car door/ helicopter window. Anyone knows how much it weighs?

IS FTW.

the high iso grain would make it look like theres sand in the vagoo.
