canon ixus-75? Anonymous
hay guize.
I'm thinking of buying myself and my gf a semi cheap digital camera ($400-$500 max)

ive already got my dad's old school manual film camera for my faggoting around, i just wanna get something i can take out raving and stuff...

thinking of geting a canon ixus-75... any suggestions/ideas?
and yup, i have gone and read reviews, i'd just like to hear something from a person i can talk to... in person.

I bought an ixus 75 as a gift once. One of the best ultra-compacts IMO, at least in its price range (although I would've preferred less megapixels, but with image stabilization)

cool thanks. is there a better camera you'd suggest?

and yeah i kinda agree with wanting less megapix for better stabalization

- IXUS 800/850 have IS and optical viewfinders, but they are slightly bigger and more expensive.
- Fuji F20/F30/F31/F40 have better image quality at ISO 200+, but they all are bulkier and really ugly.
- Olympus 770SW/790SW are waterproof/shockproof if you need that at some expense of image quality.

The F45fd isn't nearly as ugly as the older F-series models.

I've got the F30, its a little bigger than other cameras (and only JUST), but i'm quite attracted to its styling lol

Pic: ISO800 from Fujifilm F30, definitely a class leader

If you're tossing around that kind of money on a girlfriend, you might as well get her a cheap DSLR and kit lens. Pentax K100D with 18-55 is $400 after mail-in rebate.

Is there an AF-S prime out? I was looking for one the other night.

Most point-and-shoots won't work well at raves because of the low light and motion. DSLRs are a good thing for raves and concerts. (I haven't been to a rave in about 6 years, though... I doubt they've changed THAT much!)

From my experiences, one can shoot in clubs even with ISO400. Just need to use fill flash and set camera's (not flash's) exposure value to -2.
Or then use something complitely different settings.

Sigma 30mm f1.4 HSM is your only choice really
(Which I have aswell, its actually better than the 50mm f1.4 for raves, BUT i figured OP was on a budget)

Depending on the P&S, ISO 400 can be nothing but noise.

take this to a rave and point and shoot all you want. it would certainly help most of america out.

Its from the website in the image.

Its a MODEL gun, the worst it can do is give people powder burns because it cant fire projectiles.

my sarcasm falls on deaf ears, of course it is from the website

I meant the poster, not the image.
