i was at the camera store today to return a lens i rented, and i had some issues with the IS on the lens so i just made a remark about it.

the guy was like, oh can i see your camera? so i show him (it had the mount cap on, no lens) he takes it off and puts the lens i rented on it, tests it, says it's fine and then he says, let me go check on something. then the fucker takes the lens fucking off... and leaves my camera right there out in the open with no lens on it, no cap, nothing... he walks away for like 30 seconds and comes back with another lens to try on it

what the fuck, could anything damage the sensor like this? i change my lenses but i do it super fast in like 2 seconds. this time it was left in the open for more than 30 seconds on the counter. i don't have anything to clean it

Take a photo of a white wall at f/36 or the highest you can get.
It'll show up any sensor dust.

Your camera is ruined. You should have shot him.

did that, there are some faint spots i can see but they're not like.. black black, just a shade of grey, grey circles. it was f/22 for about 8 seconds at iso 100, should i make the shutter speed slower?

not sure if they're from this accident or from my regular lens switching

>>296536

he should've offered me a free sensor cleaning.. they do it for $30, fuck that

Unless he left your camera sitting with the shutter open, I highly doubt any dust got in your sensor. I've you're that worried, just go buy a $10 dust blower from Adorama

30 seconds open is more than enouh time for cosmic radiation to disrupt your pickles.
Throw your camera away.

Lemme guess, you have two lenses, an 18-55 and a 55-200 that came bundled with your Rebel.

lol you remind me of 1 of my friends who has got this mental disorder where he needs to put his hand over everyones camera when it don't have a lens on it to " protect it "

the mirror for your viewfinder blocks your sensor from most particles but get a sensorwipe...

if you ever see photojournalists out in the field, you should know better. you're not holding a freaking telescope where one speck gets on it and all of a sudden your cameras a paperweight. I see them swap lenses without putting the caps back on, they seem to be working ok. As others have said, your shutter is pretty good at keeping most shit away from the film/sensor- at least for short periods of time.
Not that you can just run around without a body cap, but a minute indoors with the cap off isn't going to hurt anything. Just don't go wiping off the sensor until you've licked off the cheeto dust from your fingers.

If it bothers you and you're too cheap to even buy a blower or some sensor sweep, just clone it out in LR, PS, or PSE.

nope, it was with the 75-300

but i do have a 24-70

not troll :/

>>297935

and i'm too lazy to edit it out too!

i never use anything past f/8 and it doesn't show up or barely shows up at that setting, i'll just leave it alone

it would probably make things worse if i try to fix it. going to leave it be

Srsly? It's just a few clicks and you're finished, is that really a big problem?

doesnt canon have that fancy sensor shaking technology that just shakes the dust right off or some shit?
>> Anonymous
if i made about $200/month from my stock photography i would do it but i don't

too lazy to do it on every picture and it doesn't show up or is near invisible. i'll do it if it's obvious but otherwise, no

it's there lol but i don't know if it actually does anything. don't care enough to try

actually the shutter is first, the mirror doesn't really "block" anything as it's still open around.

They stole that shit from Olympus.
>> Anonymous
yeah, i used to do this before i learnt about dust collecting on the sensor.

i also love getting a 300mm lens and pointing it directly at the sun whilst on live view. its cool because it means i can look at the sun! how cool is that!

pretty cool. thats how cool it is
>> Anonymous
nice try, my camera doesn't have live view anyway so i don't think pointing the camera at the sun would actually do anything

i'm paranoid about details but i'm not a moran

IIRC the cameras that have that just run it every time you power on the camera.
