you don't see me going around posting my shit all over 4chan just to be like HEY LOOK AT ME, THE CAMERA I WORK WITH COSTS MORE THAN A CAR! I WORK WITH BOUTIQUE DESIGN COMPANIES THAT CONTRACTS FOR LARGE CORPORATIONS!

matter of fact is that picture is shit, it's great that it was picked up

but had he not added the text, everyone would say what a shitty picture it is

but no, he had to go say, OH LOOK AT ME GUYS! I DID A PHOTOSHOOOT

Yeah, and that sort of resolution is just not needed for a simple print ad, so the whole "use a P30" thing is just stupid.

So what if he mentioned it was for a print ad? Was pskaught showing off when he mentioned he photographed those prostitutes on contract for their pimps, or Heavyweather when he says he shot the photograph for the newspaper he works for?

ignoring all the negative posts so far...
i think the photo is actually pretty decent
things i dont like: too grainy (can be fixed in PS)
light on far left is distracting (can be fixed also)
and the light switch in the background is also a distraction

good on you getting work though.
many people in this thread are just upset because they can't find work in photography.
little to people realise it's also about people skills, which these guys probably lack.
ignore their shit, familyman!

Why? He's just saying why he took this photograph. If you didn't put so much stock and emphasis in ad photography, if it weren't your job, you'd look at it like anything else, like the rest of us do.

hah

if the powers that be actually bought in the over saturated, contrasty, funny angles, curved up bullshit pictures, you'd be a millionaire

good thing people still see through that

1. Doesn't mean he's bragging.
2. I don't like it, but it's not the style or type of photography I usually appreciate. It seems decent for what it is, especially with no shooping.
3. Much worse has been posted and appreciated.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
I would say that "Hey! I got paid for taking a photograph!" is something he's totally justified in bragging to /p/ about.

Also: I think the photo's well lit and composed. Not that interesting by itself, but quite good for the purpose it's going to be put to.

as a third party agency doing an ad without consulting the head firm

this picture just wouldn't fly if Samsung had anything to do about it

and you 'know' he threw that in there just for bragging

lolololol i can only expect all this from 4chan.

i dont really know where to start with some replies, but i know i can answer most of them in one answer.
>>This is a frame from the camera, the end product will obviously be chopped and shopped but thats not my job.
Pic =/= end product

The D70 is fine for a print ad, its not going to be billboard epic size where obviously something with a bazillion mega pixes will suit. The D70 is just as capable as any other dslr.

>>come back when you're working with the big boys
I was, for The Sweet Shop (www.thesweetshop.tv) on contract from saatchi and saatchi.

>>137072
NEF (raw)

>>137007

anyway, TLDR, Pic =/= Final product.
Oh and i did get paid for it and i'm fucken pleased.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>137299
Billboards have pretty low resolution.
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa
>>137303
yeah, they aren't at 300dpi but they are more than 6MP
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>137308
72dpi for a billboard sized poster when one of my friends got something printed for a monster poster for newtek (cgi not photography).

10MP gets you enough to cover a side of a building with a poster, 6MP should cover a billboard :P

ITT Jeremo looks at the past of /p/ through rose tinted glasses.

This has always been a troll infested shithole. Just because it's been slightly less so than the rest of /p/ doesn't mean it hasn't been a troll infested shithole.
>> Rook !HRaWxBruFs
>>137318
I was thinking the same thing. I mean, normally /p/ has 1'ish troll posts per thread, but this is just un-called-for. /p/ is quite commonly the most civil board on 4chan I go to, even if it can be quite elitist. Although I do think the elitism/perfectionism is due to the nature of photography. You have forever to tear apart an image after it has been taken, but precious few moments within which to take it correctly.

meh all the negative comments are ok too, i dont like them but i do hate sounding pretentious.

The text i added in my OP was there to indicate what the pic is about, otherwise as others has said it is a boring pic with no story behind it.

I should explain when i say its going to be chopped and shopped. All we needed from this pic was the guy holding the phone. Its the shadows and highlights on his face thats important because he's going to be chopped out in PS and slapped into a night shot of the Auckland viaduct harbor that the location photographers took the night before. Any other detail is un important and irrelevant.
Even the pic i just included obviously has my w880i but going to shop that out and replace it with the samsung. Lucky its not my job to do all the PSing because i honestly have no clue haha.

Makes sense if the small size is one of the features they're showing off.

I recall when the iPhone was first getting released there was a whole hubbub about it because they'd gotten a model with XBOXHUEG hands to hold it in the ads

In regards to that... I have a picture that is absolute shit that was bought for $200. I was embarrassed to have my name tied to the photo publicly, so I offered to reshoot or edit the fuck out of it.

I couldn't reshoot because the area was blocked off because of that skull we found, so I edited and made it look not as bad, but they still went with the shit photo.

Oh well, $200 is $200.

The funny part about your trolling is that you are on some crap board boasting about a very expensive piece of equipment that you use to a community that mostly runs around with mid to low level equipment. Talk about small dick syndrome...
