First of all, resize.

WHY? There's your first problem. Use lower ISO. And I know it can't be helped, but the background kinda sucks. Otherwise I think it's okay.

You likely could have gotten away with 1/800th easily enough.

As long as you can get/keep focus, you can go for a wider aperture to let in more light.

Keep the ISO LOW for this sort of thing. If you lower your shutter speed and aperture, you can easily do this.

His frontside is in the shadows. Try to catch him from an angle that better lights him up.

The skating pose itself is good.
