It's an heavilly vignetted mugshot, and only the subject's eyes are well lit.

Good job? :\

The lighting around his eyes doesn't look that good. It's a good idea, just doesn't work in this picture. I'd suggest making his entire visible skin lighter, maybe.

its kind of obvious that the lighting is done in post, but it still looks good.

if you're going for the effect i think you are, you're really not going to get away with it very well doing it in post. I'd also try for considerably more contrasting light levels.

Not really no, the light in the background is the Sb-800 with a lightsphere set on rear curtain mode and fired via commander mode through the on camera flash (don't ask me why the exif says 'flash not fired' but that's what it ALWAYS says for wireless CLS mode).

The stream of light infront of the eyes was a desk lamp taped off into a straight bar. Though i further dodged it.

What would have helped in this alot i feel would have been a second strobe or soft box infront of the model... but that would have negated the effects of the lamp a bit too much...

Okay, how about more concrete statements? What effect do you think I'm going for?

>>considerably more contrasting light levels

In the foreground? Background? Explain please.
