I like this photo, but it doesn't satisfy me enough to make it a wallpaper. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it better?

It's centered. The palm frond should be off to the right and just a tad lower.
Couple of reasons for this. The rule of thirds, and being used as a desktop it needs clear space to one side for your icons.

A cloud or bird in the sky might help as well. But it's not needed all that much.

Some people hate it when they resize and they lose all EXIF information. So they just upload the full size. You size-nazis should shut the hell up. No one is telling you to download the thing.

Crazy for the F18 too. Maybe it was windy but I'd have used a ND filter to boost the saturation and prevent over exposure.

On filters... someone want to point me to a site that explains why they're needed in retardo language(i.e Beginerisms)

I don't think I'm a nazi, this is the first time I've complained about it. You can resize and not lose the EXIF.
I just got that big "4chan is brought to you by..." ad and unrequested fullsize images isn't helping the bandwidth costs or speed of 4chan. dunno, whatever o/

I'm sure there are plenty if you search with google. This one has to be good, it's long :D

The very basic reason is simple though, it is to alter the light entering the lens as not everything can be changed later with photoshop even when shooting digital. Polarising filters can control and reduce reflections. Neutral density filters can be used to control exposure. A 50% graduated filter can be used to balance a bright sky with a darker ground so neither is over or under exposed. Or play with the colours like I did here.

It's even more fun with black and white.
