So /p/
I normally don't shoot in black and white (it seems pretty cliché for me, and I rather enjoy vivid colours), but today has been one of those days. (See picture)

Tell me, which does /p/ prefer? Black and white, colour, sepia, or a specific colour filter? And an accompanying picture would be nice. :]

When I shoot film i almost exclusively shoot B&W. It kinda brings me back to the roots of photography or something. Actually I just get huge boners from high grain B&W.

Digital I nearly never convert to black and white simply because there is no true b&w with digital.

As for Sepia and color filters, I only use them if a specific shot seems to call for it.

black and white is fine
colour is fine

even slight tinting on a monochromatic image is a horrible idea.

your photo sucks because it's a car, which is boring no matter how old it is, and because the highlights are blown out, and the composition blows.

black and white is only lame when people default to it to save a shit photo (like OP's image).

just keep trying stuff and figure out what you like.

P.S. people, can we stop taking photos of old cars? seriously.

same guy here, just wanted to clarify- anything can be a good subject, i didn't mean all cars are boring subjects, but this type of photo of a car is overdone.

i kinda like it
Typically i stick to colors, only switching to black and white if the color doesnt do anything for the picture, or if i dont know what to do with a picture and i just decide to look at the black and white thing in PS and i like it.

It all depends on the shot. I prefer shooting digital and deciding later what shots look best b&w, sepia, color, muted, saturated, etc. IMHO, black and white is best used to accent shapes or affect the overall mood/style

only reason i use b&w is because slide film is fucking expensive. color negative is sorta cheap but it never looks quite right, the colors are always a little off kilter.

OP here
I've never taken a picture of a car in my life, this was my first time. It was there, so I took the picture. And honestly, I like washed out pictures. Unnecessary crap in the background is easily replaced by a little direct sunlight (especially if you can't exactly move your subject or the things around it). Different strokes for different folks. My car shot was just an example; it wasn't intended to be a life-changing photograph.

Did a little contrast/brightness work on it in photoshop, so I'm guessing that's why it's missing.
