Project !dashI8UpO.
Another diyfag topic. Made me a more portable diffuser for macro.

Materials: Cardboard cone like containers for breadsticks, some paper, glue and tape. Basically just make a hole in the cardboard cylinder thingy for the flash, roll up some paper and put it in there and make sure the thing doesn't fall apart.

Here's what I ended up with. That's actually a big opening there. I'll try and see what happens if I close it up later cause for now, I replaced those strips of tape with glue and it's still drying up.

Not too strong in terms of range as you can see here unless I up the ISO. Wall is about 3 meters from the flash. I actually originally intended for it to be sort of a flashgun but the light didn't get too far and kept scattering around the area so I went with macro.

Heh, there's my soft box peeping in again.

100% crop. Fills the light just well. Now I can take nice clean images at f/8 and rather low ISO without relying on sunlight.

Same scene zoomed out.

*facepalm* Also just realized it isn't exactly portable since I can't fold it up and put it in a bag. Guess it's back to the drawing board for a while. At least I got a proof of concept or whatever.

you said it yourself..but how did you EVER think that was going to be portable?
it's also made of cardboard and paper so it would be destroyed if it got wet or sat on or any stupid accident like that.
you actually sat down and set out to craft a diffuser and this is what you came up with? awesome ingenuity

It's not much of an excuse but it is around midnight right now and I have class in 6 hours and I haven't slept in 20.

And in my head, I was only planning more portable than this. It slipped my mind to think as far as foldable.
