I suppose this might be more of a tech question, but it's photo related soooo...Here is a chunk I cropped out of a 2048x1536 image. This is full size. See the spot that's circled? That spot appears in every photo I take, at exactly the same spot. It's not dust on my sensor, I don't think, because my POS P&S doesn't have changeable lenses, so it's not like I'd be exposing the ccd to such dangers. Is it a dead pixel? What? Please enlighten me, /p/.
OP again. The dot does show up in my pictures when printed. Yeah, it takes 2 seconds with clone brush to fix, but it's the principle of the thing.
looks like a "hot" pixel to me. These happen in every digital camera and come and go over time. Don't worry about it too much.
This may be overkill but look into dark frame subtraction
