I did get one at the same time for future use but this dust was really horrific and I wanted to get a clean slate to start with.

Where abouts in the UK are you? the place I went to does Nikons as well and is in Vauxhall - http://www.fixationuk.com/Fixation/Repairs.html and £28 + VAT for all nikons except the D3.

this place sells them and likes them, but I've heard people online saying they messed up the sensor even more using it.
I think it's probably a good solution for larger specs of dust that otherwise can't be removed, but not great for most dust.
