sup /p/

Which flash should I buy? I'm mainly going to be using it with my G7, though I guess I'll get to buying a DSLR one of these years too. So it would be nice if it's something that'll stay useful as I progress as a photographer. But I don't think I need to do anything too crazy with it for some time, as I don't have any experience using flash yet.

The 430EX seems a bit expensive, so I'm looking for alternatives. Nissin (pic related) is going for about 17000 yen (the speedlite is about 30k). Is it any good? I haven't seen confirmation that it works with the G-series, but I don't see why it wouldn't either.

I think someone said the vivitar 285HV works with the G series few months ago. I haven't seen it in shops around here, but it's a lot cheaper and I could just order it online. And I guess there are other cheap flashes too?

So what should I be thinking of buying? What exactly would I be getting with the more expensive choices?

The lens flare sold it to me. You've got to get the Nissin.

If you're going to spring for a true TTL proprietary-equivalent lens, you might as well pony up for the real thing IMO, the warranty will make up for it.

Otherwise, Vivitar 285HV or Sunpak Super 383, /thread
