rotten. you're new at this. this reminds me of shots of a clock tower i took when i just got my first camera.
what's wrong with it: 1. subject is centered and out of focus. what you're trying to get us to look at should be in sharp focus and placed somewhere interesting in the frame. centered subjects are rarely interesting. 2. it's not a very interesting subject. sure, it's a tower. it's ornate. neat. the guy who designed it sure did a good job on it. the problem with all this is that HE gets the credit for making a pretty tower, and you have to photograph it in some way that makes it more interesting than just showing some tower sticking up somewhere in order for YOU to get any credit. your shot says 'here is this cool tower, isn't this a cool photo?' and the answer is no, it's not. it's a boring shot of a cool thing. in the same way, you can take bad photos of a hot girl. the attractiveness of the subject does not translate to the attractiveness of the photo. 3. you shot from eye level. i don't expect you to get a ladder or a helicopter to shoot this tower or anything, but if you don't you're not likely to get a shot anyone would look at twice. as an exercise, try taking your camera and picking 5 things to shoot. take 10 different shots of each at eye level, and then 10 different shots of each from below or above or from some angle that would be very inconvenient or difficult to get to. get your knees dirty if you have to. then go look at your photoshoot later and you'll see how boring it is to look at those eye-level shots. i really got going here -- more to come...
