so, /p/, how knowledgable are you about wiring?
I'm building a ringflash right now using the flash systems from disposable cameras (Fuji FunSavers in this case)

Anyway, I'm having trouble getting them to work in series. I've tested each flash individually with both the trigger I'm using and batteries, all have worked perfectly.

Each flash ran off of a single AA battery (1.5 v) in the camera, and I'm using 4 of the flashes in this design. I've tried using a single 9v battery and I've tried a 4 AA battery pack. All flashes worked fine off of this in single testing, however when they're together you can hear them charging but their ready lights never fully come on and when you attempt to flash them, they flash a dull blue color (basically, nowhere near full light output)

Tell me what I'm doing wrong, pic related.

wire them in parellel not series, and use a C/D cell bettery.

any chance you could draw up a quick diagram for parallel? I know what parallel is, but I always have trouble visualizing it as I go.

it looks messy! (in my defence, its 5am, i'm in bed and a track pad isn't easy to draw with)

what kind of faggot builds their own flash? Go buy one, faggot. You're the cancer that is killing /p/.

If I had $800 to drop on a ring flash, you can bet I'd own one already, but I prefer to eat and pay my rent on time. Points to OP for DIY.

LOL $399.99

a decent on camera flash costs almost as much

the abr 800 is fucking dirt cheap for what it can do

Yeah, the abr 800 is very good value. The results can be pleasing too.

granted we ARE talking about studio and that the 285 hv is very good for the price

a decent on camera flash would have TTL because you can't be dialing in settings by hand every time.

but that doesn't change the fact a ring flash doesn't cost $800 and that the abr-800 is awesome

also, LOL FAGGOT

Wait, does the 285HV have to be manually set for each shot?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>163465
It doesn't reset back to the default settings each time it fires, no, if that's what you're asking.
>> Anonymous
>>163496

Not sure what I am asking...
Uh... can it be used with auto settings on camera?
Or do you have to use manual?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>163499
You pretty much have to use manual. It's got an "auto-thyristor" mode that sort of automatically regulates the flash, but it's not really designed for that.

manual flash: you have to think, with your big brain, how to set your settings every time the scene changes

automatic/ttl: the flash does the thinking for you and exposes automatically the best it can and how it think would look right according to it

manual is good if you have a static set and shit doesn't move around

auto/ttl is good enough for spontaneous and little involvement from you
