So recently I just started my first semester of college and one of the classes I am taking is Dark room & Digital Photography 101. What do I see the first day: many people with digital cameras. Some weren't cheap too.

WHAT THE FUCK??

Seriously it's dark room THEN digital. Dark room means old fashioned film and analog cameras. If they would have read the course description they would have known digital is a very small percent of the class curriculum. So why the fuck did you bring in your digital camera in and why did you drop out of the class on the 2nd or 3rd day after you receive the class syllabus knowing your shit 2,000 dollar Canon digital camera is useless for the semester? Like no fucking respect for the art and roots that is film photography.

It is imo that these "pros", or inspiring pros first learn the basics of photography. That means you buy an analog camera and actually learn how to load it up with some film. That means you get your ugly ass in the darkroom where no one can see you, nor can you see your opened film while you try to develop that shit in pitch darkness. After you spend an hour or HOURS, you go outside smoke a cigarette. You then get cancer because you forgot to wash your hands full of dark room chemicals while you puff and relax because you actually accomplished something that took work and not a push of a button on the scanner and print machine. That's skills, that is love. Once you get the basics down and learn to develop, dodge & burn in a dark room, shoot pictures in full manual then jump on to the digital bandwagon.

Jumping straight to digital is stupid. Look at George Lucas. When digital was getting big he jumped in too fast and fucked up the whole Star Wars trilogy with shit shots, shit back drops, shit everything and shit story. The new Star Wars have no soul just like the wannabe pros who pick up a Rebel camera and takes a picture with full auto pilot mode and advance digital options. Nigga please.

then go take better pictures than all of the rich kids. you'll get brownie points with your oldfag professors for shooting film and developing it yourself, too.

cool story bro

i think you should only worry about your self and stop being jealous,

Yes some might agree but i love Film and Digital they are both good at different things, Digital is good when you do not have the time to change rolls of film maybe when you are with a model with no time to spare, so on. and they took the Dark room and digital coarse because there mummys and daddys are rich and want them to go to college and don't know what the fuck there on about

OP here, if you digitalfags read anything you would not say I am jealous. There is nothing in my original post that says anything of me being jealous. I have a digital camera too :)

and that implies what? Oh yea that a fucking expensive camera has no use in an analog class which makes them look like even bigger tools. The point is people all in the digi craze are mostly fucking morons who let the camera do the job for them. They don't give a fuck about taking pictures. I'm glad I'm not one of them. Who's with me?

stfu with these film vs. digital, no one cares. So the if the whole world uses digital, would you kill yourself?

The point is people that jump into digital first and in general are moronic shit photographers. The OP story sheds a bit of truth. All the digitalfags went into an analog class with digital cameras then dropped out the first week because they were too stupid to realize the class only covers a small portion of digital photography. They should have stayed though because analog photography is still a great way to learn about photography even though you are into digital.

I learned the ropes on digital but for most of my stuff now I shoot film. It just encourages you to look for a shot.

In case you haven't noticed, this guy is just that Spitfire retard showing off his trolling skills. Disregard this thread, OP sucks cocks.

if you are shooting film and you can't yet develop your own shit yet, you are a fucking hipster.

>That's skills, that is love.

wow. you act like you're preserving some fucking legacy. again, you don't even know what the fuck you're talking about. you can't develop your own photos so what the fuck do you even know about the skills and love involved in film photog. you're even worse than the hipster fags in your class because you put yourself above them for doing the same thing as them.
you think you're old school because you pop in a new roll of film every once in a while? shut the fuck up. just like your fag friends in darkroom/digital photog. class, all you do is take the shots and hand your material over to NANCY at fucking walgreens or costco to develop it for you. you have no fucking clue what happens after that except when you get your prints you jerk off because they were shot on film.

shut the fuck up. if you were doing anything different than them by developing your own shit, you might have room to talk.

Pretty obvious that OP is a troll, but troll or not, its no fun for both troll and trollee if no one replied. There needs to be responses for mutual lols.

I was trying with my cannon ae1, doing pretty ok. But sadly there is no known dark room rental that I have found around me, the insta photo walgreens and whatnot couldn't develop anyway (last color I did was hella cyan). Most don't even know if they do b&w. Not to say I haven't ever gone from raw film to print on my own, but lets face facts. A couple years ago digital didn't make sense, but now there are DSLRs that have the flexibility of real SLRs.

The real problem are these people
<-----

Just learn to filter out anything that has "full auto" in the exif. In fact, that would be a rather nice filter to add to /p

HCB could develop his film, and did whenever he couldn't get it to a lab in a timely manner. (Read: any of his awesome Mexico/Asia/Eastern Europe/maybe Spain shots, he developed.)

He disliked doing it and AFAIK never printed his own stuff, except maybe just playing around, but he could develop his film.

Sage for stupid, wrong-headed (as is most LOL MY WAY IS BETTER YOU NUB junk) thread.

I don't know that you could call them skills. /p/ is retarded easy to troll.

0/10 for saying hipster. Also I have access to develop my own photos 24/7. I don't use a digital scanner bs or anything. It's called a rich dad :)

Also developing your own pictures DOES take more skills especially if you spend more time in the dark room and your pictures come out better and different then some dude that hasn't perfected the dark room skills.
