Friend challenged me to a "4 feet, only strangers" contest. Any ideas?

Take pictures of strangers only from 4 feet away and see if you take better pictures. Wow, that involves a lot of strategy!

I would assume so. 4 feet is close to that personal space that most people like to have around them. Actions taken that allow a comfortable photo to be taken are whats really at test here. The shot is the result of that communication.

Note both my sage and my sarcasm. Just get a wide angle lens and take pictures like you would normally. I don't think being closer makes it much more difficult.

I think that getting that close does change things a lot. You can't be sneaky about a portrait from that close. You pretty much have to interact with your subject. I don't have the balls to take shots like that, personally.

What I used to do was walk up to a person, ask if I can take their picture since I'm an art student and I make art. Then wait as long as possible untill they're annoyed, then take picture. Keep 'fake' touching buttons for the first few seconds to make it look as if you're doing something advanced. Never tell them what to do.
