"get not extremely new at this! go! now!" :)

OK, and in all seriousness, OP has a good eye for color, so he/she is headed in the right direction. The photo itself needs a little composition help; I would've moved a to the right to get rid of the green, and down so you have a solid wall of color.

I'm not quite sure that those brown things are, but i'm guessing they're meant to be the focus of the picture? I'm not sure. Your focal point of the photo should be more obvious. I almost daresay crop it on the left and crop a little on the bottom, so the second thing is coming out of the corner of the frame.

There's potential there, but needs some practice.

No, that's about practicing more/getting more experience. I don't think that implies doing something new.

In re: your pictar- Zoom out some. You're probably trying to show people something with this picture, and I assume it's a bee and a flower. Both are cut off. If it's a cute bee or a pretty flower, let us seee them!

Also, I see you're using Photoshop. It can scale down or compress pictures. If your photo is really nifty, I'm sure someone will ask for the original size, but try to keep things reasonable.

Yeah, that too, but if you want to be a professional, the only way you can set yourself apart from everyone else out there shooting flowers, butterflies, etcetc is to do something new and different, to find your own unique style. IMO, at least.

I generally aim to confuse and bewilder.

Thanks, /p/! One last question - do photos of patterns fit in the "kittens, flowers and insects" category?
>> elf_man
Depends on the pattern, depends on the lighting, how you frame it, if there's a real point of interest...might be easier to get an interesting pattern shot than an interesting flower or pet, though.
