my first B/W roll that I shot 2 weeks ago is finally developed and scanned. ^_^

It was a fuji neopan ss ISO 100 "fine grain"
but many of my photgraphs came out very grainy and i am not sure about the reasons.

I've yet to see neopan come out NOT grainy as hell. I've developed in D76, Ilfosol S, and Tmax. Scanning generally exaggerates grain from what I've seen, are prints coming out equally as grainy?

I wouldn't worry about grain, get a good shot and go from there. really dig the "gentleman"(lol) and the first pic. You have talent- which may explain why you tried your hand at BW film.

>>292163
-- seems like you might have needed a faster film, the wall pattern is blurred.

BW film photography is the shit.

i think the scanner you used might just be noisy as fuck... an iso 100 film shouldnt be near that grainy, hell ive seen tri-x look less grainy under certain circumstances

These are really nice and abstract enough for me to be interested. composition is meh, because they are just slightly of the center, but not enough to seem intentional. It feels just a bit akward. So on a 36 exp roll you only got 7 decent ones?

's right. The grain might be because the unsharp mask on the scanner was on too high. 100SS is supposed to be noiseless even on 35mm.

Here's an example: http://flickr.com/photos/davidrmunson/2781954444/

Here's my checklist for reason for grainy shit:
1. Incorrect exposure, (use an incident meter when testing film)
2. Past expiration date/incorrect storage
3. Shit scanner/USM
4. ?????
5. Force of nature.

You are the chemo saving /p/

Yeah some pics look quite grainy.
First thing is most scanners sharpen by default and makes the grain more 'agressive' and noticable. Turn that shit off.
Sometimes the scanner's auto exposure stuff messes pics up but your pics don't seem dark enough to cause this. Just to be safe try and turn off as much of the scanners automatic correction and processing as you can.
