Photoshop uses Bicubic, a little less advanced algorithm. You might try both to see which you like.

I like image resizing algorithms. There's some really advanced ones, far beyond the basic anti-alias and bicubic of photoshop. You have to choose which is best for the application.

But, bicubic is the general purpose one for photography, since its blurry. And anti-alias comes is many flavors, photoshop uses one that's sharp but not too pixelated.

Irfanview has a Lanczos resampling option on resizing pics, FYI.
Plus it's free, so if it doesn't work, you're not out a whole lot.
