As to bring in some more discussion about actual photography instead of photography equipment.

Awesome pictures indeed.
However not so awesome quality.

Stunning lighting is what really makes a good landscape. It gives these atmosphere they might not have had otherwise.
It's a snapshot if you didn't pay attention to composition. These show framing, at least. First one has a little too much foreground I think.

I like these, it's eerie ;)

Hmm somehow I suspect this has something to do with the resizing... Are there any guidlines on this? like only resize on whole ratios?

Try shooting at a higher resolution, as opposed to only shooting @ 72 dpi (per your exif)

In terms of resizing, I like the "constrain porporations" (spelled wrong i know) option in photoshop, it seems to help pretty well.

he was shooting at the max resolution...

Ah your right, the jpg setting were at 'fine' instead of 'superfine'
And I don't have the money for photoshop, so its the GIMP for me.

Eh, gimp is fine for resizing. Just keep the camera set to superfine and don't go too high on the iso and the image quality will be fine, that's having the most impact. I have one of those, it's good.

yeah, ISO 200 already gets me to much noise to be useable

Lower end cameras seem to have worse ISO handling, but this is just 'some guy' speaking. I couldn't go above ISO 200 on my S3, but I'm shooting at 400-500 with /no/ problems on my new D80.

Yep!

The amount of noise that you get at a given ISO is directly related to the sensor size (or, rather, pixel size). The sensor in your new D80 is *way* larger than the sensor in your old S3.
