I cant remember but Japan uses R for their helo pad designations. Did have a search for this in google maps but the helo pad is washed out in the photo.

I found a helipad at Kansai and its a H so i duno, my pilots stuff is all fixed wing so dont have any JAR books to compare it too.

Oh and for referance the maps.google.co.jp image of yokohama bay is really old. The ferris wheel isnt even in construction.

No they don't. H is an international standard aviation symbol and Japan uses it too, just like runway markings. Since you probably won't believe me, here's a Google Earth image of a couple buildings in Shinjuku.
