I currently have a Nikon D40 and loves it, and was planning to buy a new lense for it, does /p/ have any suggestions? I mostly do landscape/nature shooting at night and sunrise.

go wide, i'm in nearly the same situation with a d50 and am looking at either a tamron 17-35 or sigma 17-70, leaning towards the latter

get some aperture
in the long run a fixed f/1.4 lens will do a lot more for you than a shitty offcbrand zoom

go with the sigma, you'll thank me later (its also has macro focus for added bonus)

I'd get me a 10-20mm Sigma EX. That's next on my list after the 18-200mm VR.
