... now I know what camera was used :O

In that price range look into some SLR-Likes.
I've always thought this website rocked when it came to reviewing cameras, try a search-by-price range and read the reviews/check the sample photos.

thanks,
for now I was used to stick with Canon,
in 2001 when I had a camera, Canon powershot was way superior to the other brands camera for almost the same price.
now I dont know how toknow if the lens is a good lens except if I can check it myself, but actually I m a noob at photography.
so what are the best option for camera? what kind of sensor should I get?
I think that a manual focus would be nice, am I wrong?
thanks for your help.

fuji finepix 6500 seems to fit ...
is there a well known better choice?
if it's just a matter of taste then I ll think I ll try this one, even if I m not attracted by the Fuji brand.

still OP...
I can find Canon powershot s3 for 369 euros
and finepix 6500 for 269 euros...
which one should I choose, I can't make my choice :/
Canon has got less iso rating than fuji, but got a close range focus.
other wise I m still a noob and can't find what would be better, I'm maybe going to geek about it tho...
and I should maybe just buy the 190 euros old fuji 5700...

If you use the highest available ISO, your pictures are going to look like ass anyway. I wouldn't recommend going over ISO200 on anything less than an SLR.

thanks, I spent the day reading, I didn't see there was already a thread about the finepix6000 on this board...
I ll read the review about the powershot now and try not to be tempted looking at real SLR that goes for the same price on ebay, anyway I dont deserve an SLR according to people here, and I think they d be right :p
seems like this is an elitist board tho

I own a Canon S3 and it has alot of noise at ISO 400-800. Also even at ISO100 there is some noise aswell.

can you deal with noise better by taking your photo in RAW and using photoshop or something/
>> Anonymous
I think so. Just download a program called Noiseware Community Edition. It is free and it does a good job removing noise. The S3 does not take RAW files, but you can get this firmware thing called CHDK where it allows you to take RAW+JPEG.
