I'm a big Crumpler fan too, although I'm an Aussie, so I might be a bit biased.
I've got one of their backpacks (the 'Sinking Barge', I think). It's got a padded laptop pocket with a flap, space for a few books, and a removable three-partition camera case that velcros in to the front pocket. The camera case is a bit small, but it works OK with my D80 with a spare lens.
I've got an old camera shoulder-bag from them too. It's not one of their current models, but it's similar to the '6 Million Dollar Home'. It's good for carrying around basic SLR gear, but it's got no room for a laptop or more than a small notebook.
Crumpler have a big range, though, and most of their bags are velcro crazy, so you can rearrange the interiors to your liking. They're made sturdy, they look interesting. Definitely recommended.
I'd buy one of their laptop and SLR messenger bags, but that style of shoulder-bag is a pain on my motorbike.
