I recall reading somewhere that he uses Photoshop to remove the wires and scaffolding but they're not digital montages.

bfd. who cares.

it's conceptual artwork. and last i checked, conceptual art isn't constricted to the same rules as photojournalism.

To me, yes it dose matter...

Over shooping like this, or even using it to remove wires and so on like in his pics, stops it been "photography" in the normal sence.

Yes its art, but its different to anything elts from that point on, you might as well take the two photos separate and just shoop them together, you will get the same look, same effect, still not photography how most people would htink of it.

if its over 60% original.. i say its still a photograph.

Just an augmented one.

Dear anon,

I'd like to bring your attention to the "To me" at the start of my post, this is there to indicated that everything I said there was my view only, and that it applies only to me. That said, all "art" is subjective, what I want to classify as "photography" and "art though the medium of photography" is completely upto the individual, and clearly, your classifications differ from mine. I therefore redirect you, yet again, to the "To me" at the start of the aforementioned post.

Yours sincerely,

Smarter person

You can't pretend to be smart and get "does" wrong.

You can tell they are photoshops
because theres photos with this chinese guy hanging on the same lamp post in different positions.
The background is exactly the same each time, so unless time stood still while the photoshoot was happening, they are shops.

i see your point, but you seem to have a very strict photojournalistic approach to photography. and that's fine for photojournalism because photojournalism seeks to depict reality.

photography extends far beyond that realm though.

besides, many artists today would much rather piece together 10 frames in photoshop rather than by hand. :-D

pic def. related.

That photo still amazes me, when you see the darkroom retouched version it looks unreal

At the time, that must have been something incredible.
Now days, due to photoshop - photos like that don't seem as special.

that was all from one take.. it's not composite. though, the wires were removed, in post.

This was the finished result
Notice the hand holding the chair has been removed, the wooden pole holding the stall up, the inperfection of the skirtingboard and the wires have been drawn out
