i heard using a magnifying eyepiece is a cheap way to help MF

how exactly is the view "magnified"? does it make it look like it's zoomed in/magnified?

any disadvantages to it compared to normal one?

pictured is the nikon dk 21m, works on Canon cameras too

bigger like this?

current view: o = black x = what i see

oooooo
oxxxxo
oxxxxo
oxxxxo
oooooo

magnified:

xxxxxx
xxxxxx
xxxxxx
xxxxxx
xxxxxx

or does it just make the x part in current view larger, wouldn't that fuck up the perspective through the lens?
