He is, but the winner is clear, even to a Nikonfag like me.

So what about the very well-publisized glitchy CMOS sensor that has people all over the world bitching about their dissappointment in the 5D? It was so bad Canon had to start throwing in free stuff and rebates whenever someone purchases it.

Truth: Nikon's D3 & D300 are superior machines.

Nikon D300 is better than Canon 5D but it is a stupid comparison because they are not the same type of machine. You know of course that the 5D is full frame and so in my opinion should be compared to the Nikon D3 which is the only FF Nikon DSLR at the moment. Serious photographers will not have a hard time deciding between the two because they answer different needs.
However, the 5D is two years old and that means a lot in the digital age. If for some reason I didn't care about sensor size, weather proofing, lenses, live view etc. I would probably go for the Nikon because it is newer and packs all the new gimics developed in the last two years. If all you care about is absolute image quality than you should save your money and buy one of the top dogs instead, or maybe discuss sensors instead of cameras.
