Somebody wanted to buy me something, and I thought about a book for photography. I am a beginner, so nothing too advance. I also use a digital camera, so nothing about processing film would be useful. Do your best /p/.

Pic related, on of my more recent photos, a month or so old.

If you are asking the /p/ board what DSLR to get, you really don't need one. Go buy a A720is Powershot for $200. Spend $600 on a couple of 8 balls of coke. Go to a strip club. Make alot of new friends. Take pictures of your new friends and post those.

Those will be better, more interesting shots than you'll ever get from your $800 DSLR kit and taking pictures of your cat.

SAGE.

Sell your camera, then buy drugs. Lastly, you then overdose on said drugs. A happy ending for us all.

Never thought /p/ could be this helpful, thanks.

'The 35mm Photographer's Handbook.' Film SLRs don't have useless functions and don't have their photos fed into photoshop to be ruined. Buy a non-digital specific book, and you're getting a book about photography. Buy a digital-specific book, and half the book is do this/that in Photoshop.
So get a real 35mm book, and ignore the parts about developing the film.

Yes, I realize that. I have absolutely no life, so obsessively reload /p/ all the damn time and read pretty much every thread. Hence the "flame him with copypasta".

The point is that the copypasta was completley inappropriate for this particular thread since he wasn't asking which dSLR to buy.

Thank you, that sounds good. Also, thank you to all who contributed with ideas.

or you can google "basic photography". There are a lot of sites out there which cover the basics of photography (and free, too).

Ok, I looked at some books on amazon, and found these 2 that I thought about purchasing.

http://www.amazon.com/Pictorial-Composition-Henry-Rankin-Poore/dp/0486233588/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8
&s=books&qid=1196703839&sr=1-1
This one seems quite nice, showing composition in older pieces. Also, I am interested in drawing, so this is a good plus.

http://www.amazon.com/Learning-See-Creatively-Composition-Photography/dp/0817441816/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UT
F8&s=books&qid=1196703839&sr=1-5
And this is the other one.

Anyone have any experience with either one of these books/authors?

Nope.
However the 35mm Handbook I mentioned earlier can be had on amazon for like, $4 with shipping from the used sellers. Can't go wrong with it.

Desperado? Was that taken in France?
