I've just started taking pictures with a half decent camera for the first time in my life, I'm using a Nikon D50.
Comments suggestions and critique are all greatly appreciated - Including anything you can tell me about the kinds of equipment I should look into.

perfect for a desktop at work. Thank you!

and use the equipment that works for you. What kind of shots do you normally do- landscapes (wideangle), wildlife (zoom), macro (it has it's own lens) etc

Usually I just shoot whatever comes up. I have a new baby, so there's a lot of shots of him... but mostly I enjoy nature, wildlife and abstract or creative photography. I would like to get into more model shooting, just because I want to do this professionally since it makes me happy and models tend to pay better than koi or foliage.

I like a lot of nature and abstract photography too, I usually prefer a telephoto or macro for those kinds of shots.

See I have the eye for photography, but none of the training. I didn't even buy my own camera. I only knew that I needed a good camera to learn properly with and then someone gave it to me as a gift. Perks of being a lady, eh...?

Most people don't start out with any real "training". Just do some research as to how your camera works, and basic things like composition, and just go out and shoot.
Biggest thing, look for good light, play with different angles and experiment. That's why your first shot there is a lot more interesting than the rest of these.

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying, but I agree. I don't seem to have quite found my feet yet.

Alright, I'm about done with my show and tell time. Nice talking to you, have a good day so at least one of us does. I've been up all night and it doesn't look like sleep is coming any time soon.
