There's a picture on the internet of a woman with a headset of disposable cameras arranged to take a 360 degree panorama. It'll just get deleted if I post it here, but it shouldn't be difficult to imagine. It's meant to be humorous, and the way it's set up in the picture it wouldn't work, but I want to try to make one that will. I need /p/'s help with the math of it. How do I figure out the angles and positioning of the disposable cameras so that the multiple shots will be correct in relation to each other?

find out the focal lenght of the lens on the disposable. this should be a mm measurement, you then need to find out the view in "degrees"

then divide 360o's by the angle of view of your cameras and place accordingly.

thats basic... itll be a lot more complicated than that in reale life... i.e building the rig at precise angles.... and making it confy enough to wear too...

Theres a few problems with this, First off is you NEED overlap, at least 10% of the frame should be overlap from the other camera, More if possible.

Theres a few reasons for this, But the obvious one is so your stitching software can easily blend the pictures realistically together.

Also ignore any view above 60 degrees (vertical), Panorama editors can't render 360 width and much height without getting some serious distortion (as it will attempt to create a flat 2d image out of it. (the distance from 90 degrees vertical and all other points along the "horizon will be equal in real life, but on a 2D screen that isn't possible.)

Exceptions are the polar 360's you sometimes see (i've done a few, but they don't look very natural)

IF you could go straight into the Quicktime .mov app (or whatever one does it) then that might work (i have no experience with that) But if you need a 2D image first then it won't.
