What does /p/ think about naming your work?

In this case I thought that the picture wasn't too apparent in itself and by naming It would be easier to convey the emotion I'm trying to achieve in viewer

Other thing what I'd like to hear from you is if you use just your gut feel to crop images? Criticism is appreciated

Always seemed rather pretentious to me.

>>naming

1. If a photo can't speak for itself, chances are it isn't a very good photo. It's not like this is abstract art, or anything.

2. It strikes me as wrongheaded to decide a photo 'means' something and then fix that in stone, because all the pretentious titles in the world won't force someone to agree with your interpretation. Since that's the case, why bother?

As with all creative efforts- show, don't tell.

>>Other thing what I'd like to hear from you is if you use just your gut feel to crop images?

I do, but sometimes I fail at it. In your case, there's way, way too much pointless empty space, with makes your photo look aimless. Eliminate it and create focus.

I hate naming things, generally. If I'm entering a show or contest that requires names and I haven't already picked one, I just make something up based on the subject. "Fabric study" or "Portrait: Heather II" whatever
