Any medium format fans on /p/? Anonymous
Myself, I have several TLRs I use regularly and a Busch-Pressman C press camera. I do portrait work mostly, but up until about 6 months ago shot weddings as well.

I have myself a Rollei Magic and a Ciro-flex TLR and i gotta say i love them both. Don't really get to shoot with them as much as i would like to but they rank up there as my favorite cameras of all time.

OP here,

I love my Ciro. I had it CLA'd a few years ago, and take it out now and again. The only thing is that I've got the lens hood, but I've never been able to find the retaining ring that holds it in place. They never seem to turn up on *-bay.

Yep! Mainly a Yashica A TLR. I've also got a Diana, an old box camera, and a couple folders that I haven't tried out yet.

I would post an example pic but my scanning machine isn't up and running right now.

OP here,

It sounds like you have a pretty good collection! The 6x9cm box cameras are alot of fun. I've got an Ansco Shur Shot I like to take on landscape shoots. I quite like the soft effect the singlet lens gives the images.

OP Here

This is a shot taken with the Ansco

I've actually only run one roll through my box (which was an Ansco Shur-Flash). Failed badly. Slow shutter is slooooow, so things came out pretty blurry.

Next time, I need to find some makeshift tripods near what I'm shooting. Can't use a real tripod for lack of a mount.

Now I want to go shoot with my box camera some more...

OP here

Yeah, the shutter speed is around 1/30 to 1/50, if not slower depending on how much the spring has degraded. I strap mine to the tripod with a couple of rubber bands. You can see the slow shutter speed in the pic I posted, the blob in the upper right was a bird flying by!

OP here

Oops - forgot to mention I strap the ansco to the tripod head without the QR plate in place.

yeah, i use a mamiya c3 right now, but i've got a pentax 6x7 shipping to me right now. i'm sick of waist-level viewfinders and 6x6 format.

I'd like to try one, but i don't have moniez right now even for a lubitel.

My dad gave me his YashicaMat TLR, and I really like using it. However, he revealed to me, that it was my birth that forced him to sell his Mamiya. I felt a little bad after that, but hey, it's not like I had a choice in being born, right?

You'll like the YashicaMat! Mine's my primary TLR. Just make sure you don't change the shutter speed after cocking the shutter - doing so can really foul things up!

Poke around a bit more; you can find a Ciroflex (or the same camera under several different marks) pretty reasonably. You should be able to pick one up and have it CLA'd for USD100 or less. You might also consider a Czech Meopta (but get the kind that resembles the Wagoflex in OPs first post - the lever advance on the others can be problematic).

Really? Shit. I guess I had better stop winding it after each shot, then.

That's what I do; I wind the film on, but if I need to change the settings, I wait to cock the shutter until I'm ready to shoot.
