hey /p/
i'm getting a DSLR of my choice (sort of) as a birthday present from my mother.
camera-wise i really want a 40d, but just that body still costs quite a bit and i was thinking if i aimed a bit lower (like a rebel xsi) that i could get a nice lens too and maybe some alienbees and a battery grip!!

my biggest problem is the fact that it says "rebel" in red in that gay font. it looks very cheesey and amateur to me. big problem for me.
where can i order one out of the country so it just says 450d? europe? SA? japan?

any recommendations for a good body with nice features around that price area would be great too. (nikon or canon, doesn't matter, don't own any lenses yet)

You dumbshit, he never even said that his moms was buying him a specific camera. He said he wants a 40d, but would rather get less of a camera with more accessories for the same price. Learn to read for fuck's sake you mongoloid.

Why am I sticking up for this anon? good night

Why don't you just ask her to give you a check, then you add in a few more hundred, and you get the high-end gear you want?

>when someone buys you a gift, you appreciate it for what it is. You don't whine about what kind of low-end model it is. You make do with what you get.

Here's what that faggot said:
>my biggest problem is the fact that it says "rebel" in red in that gay font. it looks very cheesey and amateur to me. big problem for me.

It seems OP is more concerned about the superficial appearance of a camera rather than the meaning of the gift itself. And then he comes here asking about how to cover up the shame of having a low-end camera. Most of the world's population can't even afford a Happy Meal, and here the OP is complaining that a camera that costs $700 has a gay red font. So fuck you for defending him.

OP here. normally i wouldn't have even posted this query i woulda just told her to get the 40d and bought all the accessories with my own money but my birthday is this weekend and i get paid monthly, and i happen to be really broke as shit right now.
this month was rough

thanks for the support those of you random anons who supported me and another fuck you to that samefag

man i was hoping for a different outcome in this thread. i guess i've greatly angered all the late night fapping trolls

PLEASE FUCKING FORGIVE ME FOR BEING SO SELFISH /P/
I REALLY AM VERY SORRY, I WILL REALLY REMEMBER THIS FOREVER

having personally owned both cameras, I can definitely say that you should go with the 40d if you have some knowledge of DSLRs already. the 40d is much more well-made than any of the rebels. 6.5fps > 3.5fps
9 cross-type AF points ftw. weather sealing etc
it's just an all around better camera. you won't want to replace it for a very long time

don't pay any attention to samefag anons either. they tend to be vicious and ignorant at the same time, and there's no winning against that combo

nobody's going to notice the rebel tag. your wrist covers it up when focusing/zooming. and if it really bothers you enough to warrant the purchase of a more expensive body, then get the 40D.. wtf do we care? you'll have a camera and it wont say rebel on it..

on the other hand, you could just buy a used XT and dump the rest of the money on glass. then move up to a nicer body when you outgrow the XT (which will take a long time if it's your first dslr)

I like how the only thing that separates this gearthread from all the other HAY WAT CAM DO I BUY threads is that the OP countered the trolls with all his built up teenage angst.

oh, and sage for gearthread >.>

momma once told me that people who carry on about others' teenage angst generally speak from experience.
that being said i'm 20 years old :(

and hey, at least i silenced the trolls right? or did they just give up on me.
much love anon

The average person doesn't know anything about cameras. Most assume that battery grip and hotshoe flash is pro, and if you bust out alienbees, they think you are epic.

Besides, most pros put black gaffer tape over all the labels to discourage thieves, anyway.

put black electrical tape over the logo, jesus christ

what's wrong with you anyway? Are you really that much of a brandfag?
