In before hundreds of myspacey mirror shots.

Eh, how?

I don't really bring friends with cameras to take photos of me when I take photos.
>> Anonymous
>>48679
Two camera bodies.

One, at minimum, on a tripod. Aim it at where you will be, meter, set exposure, put it on a timer, run to where you will be, and pose with/actually use the other camera equipment.

This pic was taken by my brother with his D40. I am taking a pic with my D80 with a Sigma 105mm macro. I think my bro had his Nikon 105mm macro on for this shot.

Why would this be shot with a macro lens?
>> Macheath
>>48787
Macros make decent portrait lenses, actually.

>>48787
We were both out taking some macro shots and I think he just threw it in auto and grabbed a quick shot of me between his other shots.

may I ask why in the world you are not wearing the neckstrap? I have never seen a good reason presented not to.
>> ac
>>49072
Sometimes the shot won't wait for you to wrap the strap around your neck.

hope that shot is worth the thousands of dollars you spent into dropping your camera + lens
>> ac
>>49078
So are you one of those people who insist that it's impossible to handhold a shot with a 28mm equiv lens at anything less than 1/125th?

Yeah, if you're dangling over pointy rocks, or you're at Niagara Falls or any situation where there's significant danger of dropping your camera, definitely go with the neck strap. If you're picking up the camera for one shot of a woman, inside, where you're already using both hands to hold the camera? They have ergonomic hand grips for a reason.

If you're really so paranoid about dropping your equipment that you miss good shots, you should invest in cheaper equipment. The point of photography is to make photographs, not to keep your equipment 100% pristine for all time. If you disagree, go buy a collector's edition Leica and seal it in a glass case filled.

If cameras broke when they dropped, I'd be tens of thousands of dollars in debt.

Cameras and lenses aren't a quarter as fragile as most people think. Once, I pulled a camera out of its bag in a way that I slipped, it fell from chest height, landed on the front of its lens, and (no joke) somehow rolled several meters on hard pavement.

The only damage, to anything? A purely cosmetic chip on the lenscap.

I've heard fluorite lenses are a LOT more fragile than ordinary or ED glass, but yeah overall some people think looking at them the wrong way will shatter them.

we should start a /p/ badminton league. we'll use 36x telephoto lenses instead of shuttlecocks. games will be played only on asphalt or loose stone.
