This or a Nikon D80, and WHY.

If I got this I wouldnt have trouble keeping dust out of my shit on a daily basis.

But.

D80, because a leika would make you wanna buy faaar too expensive glass.

1. Totally different cameras for totally different purposes. What do you want to do with it?

2. The Leica is the exact same camera as the Panasonic FZ-50, just with a red dot and a higher price tag.

It's a fixed lens camera.

you know you want the leica to show all your faggot hipster friends..

just get it already and stop wasting our time.

Well I have A D80, but its becoming a bitch, constantly messing with the sensor. Its been back for fixing twice already (I ranted about this yesterday in here) and im starting to get pissed with it. If I can get Nikon to either refund me or send me a new one, i might sell it for something superior. I was even considering going mutiny to canon...

its for Macro, Landscape and Black and white. A bit of everything really.

quit being a bitch, a few hot pixels does not = the end of the world.

"Black and white" doesn't say anything. Ansel Adams shot in black and white. So did Winogrand.

The Panasonic isn't suited for landscapes too well. It's got a small sensor and IIRC only a 36mm equivalent focal length at the wide end. (Now me, I like telephoto lengths for my landscapes. But most people like wides.)

And you're still being a bitch about some hot pixels?

The advantage goes to the Panasonic if you're shooting people in close quarters or if you need a light, handheld long tele. It goes to the D80 for low light and landscapes.

But seriously, it's just a hot pixel and you need to quit whinging about it and l2/clone tool.

Cool, ill make em fix it up, then shoot on with the Nikon. Im suprised /p/ is so chilled about hot pixels, they piss right on my chips. !

If they weren't so easy to remove I would be, but it takes less than five seconds to deal with.

Leica VLUX = Panasonic Lumix FZ50

... you know cleaning the sensor with a simple blower is part of the deal right?

That's pretty good, I'm normally worse than that after a month.

How do you friggin get dust on yours? Ive had mine for 3 months now and is still prolly squeaky clean; I don't really change lenses.

Um, stating the obvious much? You don't change lenses much, you tend to get less dust.

I change lenses all the time and I've had my camera for six months and have NOTHING on my sensor. At least nothing visible.

Stop down to f/22 and shoot a blank white wall.

Yes, I've tried to do that. I normally don't notice any dust, except maybe some faint stuff on some of my f11 shots with lots of sky.

That was taken through a pinhole made to cardboard... I was just testing how it looked and noticed the dust.

Seems I need a thinner material and more even hole to get sharper pictures :P
