Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM Anonymous
Anyone has experience with this lens? I'm seriously thinking about ordering it.

I believe I will enjoy it a lot more then my 50mm f/1.8 - 50mm with 1.5x crop just doesn't do it for me. I can see me using this Sigma as my primary lens, with 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 being secondary.

I know it doesn't have that great quality for a prime, but I could live with that. What I'm afraid of is problems with autofocus, Sigmas quality control doesn't seem to be so great...

What exactly does that give me? I understand that Sigma should be quieter while focusing, but is that all? Nikkor 35mm f/2D supposedly focuses very fast.

This lens in huge demand for Nikon, as there isn't any of the numerous problems Canon DSLR's seem to have with quality control on Sigma lenses.

I have one and its freaking amazing (use it on my D50 all the time)
If you do buy one and you have a Canon camera, buy it new and local so you can take it back if theres a problem

Great, someone who actually owns it. Tell us more please! Is that really true that there aren't any problems with F-mount version? That really bothers me because I'm planing to order it from eBay. I hear that borders are quite soft? How is the build quality?

Canon does make a 28mm f/1.8 but it's ridiculously overpriced imo.

Well i've heard of there being focusing issues sometimes on Canon bodies (with some people needing 3 or more copies of the lens to get a proper one), the worst I've heard about with the 30mm f1.4 on A Nikon has been soft corners.

The build quality is good, wouldn't call it bulletproof though, the HSM is amazingly accurate even in club lighting, and the lens hood does a good job at keeping peoples grubby hands off of it (and from bumping into it).

In my opinion don't order off of ebay, pay the extra and get it somewhere you KNOW you can take it back, especially if you have a Canon DSLR.

Can't get fullscreen images from here, this will have to do...
