Hey /p/. I dont visit here very often because my shitty photography isn't anything to brag about, but I'm in a real pickle right now.

I was walking in my house with my Calc book and a bunch of other shit (including my Nikon Coolpix S600) and dropped the fucker on the pavement. HARD. Now it won't turn on, it says "Lens Error". I opened the shutter and it looks like it's okay physically, doesn't look cracked. I'm guessing I threw the lens out of alignment or broke the little motor that controls the zoom, cause I here a clicking noise as if it's trying to retract the lens, but nothing happens, and it gives me that error.

I called a place to get a quote, they're saying 125 - half of what I payed for it just 4 months ago. Is there any cheaper option I can go for, perhaps? I already miss it, but I'm broke atm because I just bought books. I figure in about two months I can get it fixed, but is there any chance I could get it repaired for cheaper - say maybe $75 - or is 125 about the standard I can find?

Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.

No. Period.

$125 is actually ridiculously cheap.
Repairs normally cost more than new cameras.

What would you do in my position? Would it be worth it to get it repaired?

wow, you have a pavement in your house?

well, there are individual, like hobbyist people who repair cameras, but they're hard to find and i doubt they'd have much on such small cameras...

someone at a camera store gave me the number of "a man" who specialized in repairing Olympus cameras once when I inquired about repairing it. i never needed to contact him, but apparently they do exist, yeah.

I'll try and look into it. On of my instructors used to be a photographer before he started teaching (wtf) so I'll ask him when I see him on Wednesday. I don't think he repairs, but he might know of someone that would do it for me.
