How can I make my photos less grainy?
I have a Canon PowerShot A520.

and if you already made the mistake and shot with high iso and ended up with a shitload of noise, post processign remains (or delete and re-shoot).

There are some of your options.

Resize and sharpen after noise removal to your preference. (Tip: if you see halos on high contrast edges, you oversharpened)

Also, there's always the option of converting it to a B&W, which tends to make the noise seem a lot less ugly.

Reshoot with more light. Canon compensates for low light by automatically adjusting the ISO. High ISO equals noise. You need MOAR light.
