Sweet. How do those even work?

I think it's just got a load of little grooves etched into the filter glass that reflect light along them - at least, that's how the filter looks. I'm sure there's a bit more to it than that, though, since the stars are always nicely centered on the source of light.

I think it's really meant for little pinpricks of light, such as jewelry and city lights and things, but this demonstrates what it does just as well.

I see. I'd actually consider getting a 6-star hehe.

Not filter as OP meant it, but whoever demonstrates doing unsharp mask the darkroom way, can call himself the king of /p/. For a week.

You get a cookie for even knowing how to do it. I'm enjoying mine.

hah. No, I'm not a jew, 6-pointed stars look nice though. I like 6-bladed lensflares and apertures too.

OP, can you please post photos you've taken where you actually used these filters for some sort of artistic effect. I think it would be more interesting than putting a light on your desk and taking a photo of it. e.g. a night scene where you used the star eight.

Aww, I have an old center spot filter that smoothly blurs out the edges but leaves a the center clear. For portraits obviously.
