Noob Camera Saging Jack !i1xIICM8a2
hello /p. I have a several questions for you and I hope they are not asked to often or im sure this will piss many off...so here goes

I'm in the market for a good camera preferably a Non digital SLR that has a decent ease of use and a robust feature set that one can delve into as they get more experience and is of sturdy and good quality. What would /p suggest thats under $600 (yes I know I'm being picky)

Also my last noob question Digital Camera or Analog camera, which is better picture quality wise.

Nikon N80 or an N65. It's what my two starter cameras were, and I loved them. They followed me for 6-7 years and still work great. Only reason i'm moving to an f100 is because the TSA broke the back of my camera ;)

oh, and the two I mentioned are film. Since i'm guessing that that's what your "non digital SLR" comment is?

Depends on the film/camera, the photographer, and the situation it's all used in. Pick what you like, because it all comes out about even, depending.

Do you mean "non-digital SLR" (I.e., a film SLR) or "non digital-SLR" (I.e., any camera other than an SLR)?

The film vs. digital debate has sparked many flame wars.

Usually there's like one filmfag and one digitard and then everyone else on the board going "Eh. They both have their ups and downs."

Basically, the thing a few millimeters behind the focal plane and the thing a few millimeters in front of the focal plane, in that order, have vastly more to do with the quality of your images than the thing that's actually at the focal plane.

if you want film, see my suggestion above. It's good starter camera
>> catswiththumbs !!RXMWCOAQ+Kh
I'd say start with digital to get a feel for settings and white balances and when to use what f stops and exposure settings because you have a little LCD with an instant idea of your mistakes, and then go to film. Film really isn't cheap to develop. Unless you send away to clark labs or something, then its like 2 bucks per roll plus shipping. I like film a bunch, i like digital a bunch. They both really do have their ups and downs, and im a total photo noob. If you're a cute asian girl, go find a photofag and use him for his gear. Date one photo fag with a digital and another photofag with a manual, and see which you like better.

All over the internet. Here, things have mostly settled into the patten you describe, yeah.

OP, digital's a great way to learn due to the quick feedback, if you have the discipline to not spray and pray. It necessitates a more technical mindset, though, since you're dealing with in-camera and post processing software. Digital's great if you're a computer geek; if you aren't, or don't want to spend your time learning photoshop techniques, go for film. It's still plenty technical, but you can get it processed for you and not worry about that side of it. With digital, postprocessing is pretty much expected, so you may not be satisfied with your images until you get some skill there. And personally, if I have to make more than real minor changes, I have trouble settling on something; I end up endlessly tweaking my photos.
As for image quality, digital is definitely not better than film, and in some areas it can be argued that film is better. Velvia is sort of legendary, people keep trying to replicate it's characteristics in digital and failing. So go with what you like, but since you seem to be leaning towards film, I'd say just go with it. And invest in a decent scanner, it'll save you money in the long run.
>> thanks Saging Jack !i1xIICM8a2

Sooooooooo, yesterday when I start a thread searching for some filmfags, I get flamed relentlessly.

This guy however gets sound advice.

Baw indeed.

Anyway anyone know where I can find cheap enlargers.

threads like these are why you got flamed.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

It's because he asked for advice. All you did was ask a question ("Anyone here shoot film?") that could be answered by even the most superficial of lurking. There are usually a few film threads active at any given time. Front page has two right now, not counting this one.

tl;dr: LURK THE FUCK MOAR.

A cheap film rangefinder.

You can get a Fed-2 for $20 or less. Full manual, Ok image quality and built like a tank.
