Question for you cameraholics.
I'm heading to town tomorrow, and I need to get a new digital camera for taking pictures of the Hotel I work at (so it would be diverse in shots, ranging from property shots, to bedroom shots). The price range is something reasonable 350-1000. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

SLR with a fast lens, maybe as a wide to normal prime.

The thing about architectural shots (especially interiors) is that you need really wide angle lenses, and more importantly, a good lighting setup. If this is supposed to be professional calibre, I suggest getting a relatively inexpensive body, like a D70 or D50, a cheap 50 f/1.8 prime for detail shots, and the fabulous Sigma 10-20. With whatever is left over, get a tripod, a cheap flash that won't fry your camera, and either some cheap eBay radio transmitters or a PC Sync or off-camera hotshoe cord. Get an assistant to hold the flash where you want it.

Do you want an SLR or Point and Shoot?

With a $1000 budget, it'd be nuts not to want a SLR over a P&S.

Good calls, Heavyweather.

Something else: when you're buying the 50mm for detail shots, make sure it can focus close enough, or else it'll be useless for that purpose.

It can focus to within about a foot. Good enough for everything I've used it for. If you want to get even closer, those 55mm f/2.8 lenses sell for pretty cheap.
