at night time on auto ISO is going to set itself to the highest number, which is also the noisiest; that is why your picture has soo much grain. an ISO of 100 would look allot cleaner in that aspect.
but then an ISO of 100 would allow less light to hit the sensor, but in long shutter night shots this isn;t so bad.
tonight try a two shots one similar to what the OP shot is like with ISO 1600, and another with the exact same settings EXCEPT set ISO to 100.
if after doing that you think the 100 ISO is too dark, set your f-stop to a lower number like f-13 or so, still keeping the other settings (shutter duration) the same. Because the bigger the f-stop(lower numbers) the more light it allows in.
there is allot more to it than what I explained, but that will get you a general test to try out so that you can see for yourself the effects of noise(grain) and ISO
