RTFM or better yet, read up on the basics of photography. Any book out there (an instructional one rather than a picture book) will give you some insight on how cameras work. General topics include shutter speed, aperature, ISO, lighting, and hopefully a nice section on the different type of lenses and such. Even wikipedia has some stuff to say about these things as well.
>>33451 But I don't exactly know what you mean by achieving better quality pictures unless you solely mean clarity. Maybe it's your technique, or the lighting. If you don't have a steady hand, use a tripod for most of your shots. Low light usually results in blurry pictures (as well as motion). To avoid this, use flash. But if you're still having trouble, bump UP the ISO, not down.
