Pictures of art are rarely Art in and of themselves.

>>53573
This picture isn't really of anything other than the abstract concept of a small depth of field. Your 50mm f/1.4 is very impressive, but it would be more so if you used it to take actual pictures of things.
>> pixle !YlHXuPBxBQ
Wow that is one old camera, and really crappy too, it seems.

>>53575
I think the chain used to keep people from stealing that thing was a nice touch. The busy background spoils the whole thing, though, and I couldn't get a decent picture from any perspective.

Yeah, I took the second picture just to bathe in the awesomeness of a 50mm f/1.4 objective. Expect some actual photography as soon as I learn to do proper composition.

>>53576
The camera isn't the cause of the crappiness in this case.

>>53576
Old, but hardly crappy camera. Costed over $6000 when it was new and targeted at pros. Crappy pictures from crappy amateur taking crappy test shots. Who in their right mind would shoot boring actionless photos at 1/16000 at f/1.4?
>> pixle !YlHXuPBxBQ
>>53581
just because it costs 6k doesn't necessarily mean it's good, but yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that. What a waste.

>>53583
No, but it's strong circumstantial evidence towards that fact, and happens to be true.

Just because its tech specs are now pretty much trounced by a Digital Rebel XT doesn't mean it's a bad camera.

I know this, I was obviously exaggerating and threw it out of proportion.

It's the OP's lack of skills fault! ._.

These shots all look really grey.
>> Anonymous
>>53609
Could that be from simply underexposure? They were shot in pretty low lighting and I haven't quite figured out correct exposure. (I assume>>53573doesn't look grey to you.)

he/she doesn't even know how to keep his hand steady.

Jesus Christ, learn to use a camera.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do.
>> elf_man
>>53613
Yeah, that one not so much. It looks like it has warmer lighting, too.

>>53613
If you haven't figured out exposure yet, keep it in an autoexposure mode.
>> Anonymous
>>53620
I do. I use aperture-priority AE, but somehow it seems to give too short exposure times by default. I think I need to adjust the metering mode.

wow.. this thread is fucking shameful

i've never seen a top notch camera abused so badly.
excuse me while i cry in a corner
(give that camera back to your dad and play with something smaller)
>> Anonymous
I think people are paying too much attention on the camera instead of the (arguably sucky) photographs.
>> Anonymous
>>53633
That's the thing, we are paying attention to the arguably sucky photographs or else we wouldn't even mention the camera. We just find amazing how such a great camera can develop such crappy pictures.

Alright, I'm off to learn to take photos.

That's not amazing at all. Say it with me now: It's the photographer, not the camera.

And, as I have said before, this is why I always strip EXIF data before posting anything anywhere.

Yeah, that seems to be a good idea.
