Hey /p/
I don't have a question, but I do have a recommendation. Avoid the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens for the D80. The focusing is slow, and pictures are never sharp, even at reasonable apertures like f/8 or f/11. Do not buy, or you will enter a world of pain.

Alright.

It's an 18-135 kit lens. What do you expect? And if it's really bad, it's possible you just got a bad lens.

Ya screw that Nikon 18-135mm AF-s and get yourself a third party Screw Driven 18-200mm f3.5-6.3.

(Sarcasm)

And the irony is this pic was taken with the older Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3

try looking at this one:
AF-S Zoom-Nikkor ED 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF DX VR
~$750 and usually out of stock at most stores (backorder at the vendor as well), but people seem to love it.

I am actually planning on getting a D80 soon with this lens instead of the kit one.

Good choice, Its a great lens considering how versatile it is. I bought the Sigma cause I was broke but I probably should have opted for the Nikon (and saved up the extra 500$)

not all kit lenses are bad, take a look at the 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 for the D70(s), not bad for a kit ^_^

I've been fairly pleased with the 18-70mm.
It's too bad the market is where it is, I'd love to see one of the big three release a "normal" dslr kit lens like the ubiquitous 50mm f/2s of the 70s.
It'll never happen 50s are easy and cheap to build, 28~35s aren't; everyone loves zooms anyway. :P

yeah sorry, but the 18-70mm is much much better than the P.O.S. 18-55mm
