Which is a personal, subjective opinion. I've never seen anything from the f/1.2 50mm Nikkor, so I can't say how much *I* like it.

Sharpness isn't everything. There are other types of sharpness than what an MTF chart measures. Etc. Etc.

Ever shot in a really dark room, almost no light? There's times, with an f/1.4 lens at ISO 3200, one'll get something like 1/10th of a second. 1/30th of a second is common. Any extra little bit helps.

Did I forget to mention NOT HAVING TO HOLD DOWN A BUTTON, PLACE AN INACCURATE FOCUS POINT, WAIT FOR THE DAMNED THING TO LOCK FOCUS, AND MOVE IT BACK INTO POSITION?
