Sorry for the myriad of questions, but I need c+c plz.

Do you think there is too much negative space on either side of her? Also, the hand missing is bumming me out, does it really matter as much as I feel it does?
And lastly, should I lay off the contrast? I personally like it (but as a beginner, I think I like a lot of those no-no's) but I can see where it is a bit of a problem on the feet and extended leg.

No, there's not too much negative space on either side...it sets a mood and isolates the subject. It's fine. But yes, the chopped-off hand is bad news.
And see if you can reduce the contrast a bit, to show that she actually has skin on her lower leg. I still work film, and would just burn in that leg.
