Anyone have/used a Powershot G9?

How do you like it? Is the best compact I'm going to get?

inb4 'get an SLR', I have them too, just wanted something portable for random snaps.

in b4 Ricoh GR-D.

My father has a G9 and while it's an awesome camera, I'm not too sure about its price/performance ratio. S5 IS has the same sensor and optics if you don't mind some extra bulk and lack of RAW support (but you get a flip-out screen instead)

The most expensive one you can get.

Then you don't need this.

I used one of these G9 and they are good, a lot better than all P&S i've used.

G9 is pretty good, it's more of a question of if its worth the price or not. It's big, really big for a point and shoot, so big you aren't going to take it everywhere you would like you could a smaller camera. I have a Nikon D80 with several lenses that I use when I feel like doing something worthwhile, and a couple small P&S of various brands that I can take anywhere that I wouldn't be heart broken if one of my drunk friends broke it at a party. Long story short, the G9 is good, but not practical.
