Nikon Coolpix P5100 Anonymous
hey /p/,

i've been taking pictures for a few years with a few different cameras, off and on, but i'm really trying to get into photography more seriously. the p5100 is available on amazon for $315 and i'm very interested. is this the right camera for me?

I wouldn't spend more than $200 on a point-and-shoot. I also wouldn't buy a Nikon PnS, I've never seen one worth a damn. If you want to get into photography more seriously look at a film or digital SLR.

It's right for you, but you can get better. Go for a Canon Powershot.

I took a look once at the P5000 and the functions and image quality was ok enough for a point and shoot. It certainly can hold up to most powershots. and it feels nice to hold it, not like the cheap plastic of some canon for the same price.
