Scanning Slides Anonymous
hey p
my dad has about 600+ slides he'd like to digitalize before they gather any more fungus and dirt
anyone had any experience with flatbed scanners that do slides? what's your opinion

no we're not paying someone to do the job ty

Not as good as a dedicated negative scanner, but good enough for most purposes and vastly cheaper.

They're slow but they get the job done.

yeah, also we won't get kickass definition since many of the slides (the non kodak brand, the kodaks aged very well) have deteriorated considerably, and we don't wanna spend so much on a dedicated scanner to later sell it or have it gathering dust
we just want to get about a 5-7MP picture out of those slides, nothing exaggerated either, would a flatbed do?

Oh yeah. $100 flatbed will give you a ~30MP picture from a 35mm slide if you ask it to. Should be fine.

And yeah, Kodachrome ages beautifully.
