here is a snake i found today, he was a happy snake. eastern timber rattlesnake. i took a shot that was lower, but the grass hides the snakey features...i liked this one better. he didnt like hugs, so i couldnt pose him any better :(

The compositions fine, not great, but fine. You need to process this some; the green leaves stand out more than the subject.

I like animal photography more than art faggotry photos but it's hard to to make them unique. Just focus on making a good looking or interesting picture.

Cropping may have ruined whatever composition there was, but gives a closer view of the snake.

I know you don't wanna push your luck and get some nasty neurotoxin, but you know what might've made for a nice shot? Grab a stick and tease it a little to get some nice shots of it striking. Something a little better and more active than your average "this is a snake on a log" shot.

after these few "snake on log" shots we got a 15 foot stick and gently poked at it some to try and move it or get some action...but he didnt budge an inch until we actually turned him over...then he slowly slithered under a rock pile that was nearby and we left him be. not once did he strike at us or even open his mouth or stick his tongue out. I was surprised at how calm and peaceful he was.
