What is this annoying mark? Appears on my pics at the same point, I cleaned the lens and can't see anything there, or on the mirror. Any ideas?

Yep I only bought it in June. It was my first DSLR, only an EOS400d. I will sweet talk Jessops into a refund, and put it towards something better.

You can bring your camera to most places they sell them to have dead / hot pixels 'remapped'. Basically they fill in the dead pixel with the average colour of the surrounding pixels. On a 10 mpix camera that's really not visible. It's free, or might cost a little.

I thought these were called "hot pixels." If it's on the sensor, I believe you can send it in to Canon or whomever and they can tinkle with it and usually fix it.

Hot pixel, dead pixel, more or less the same thing. Hot implies that it's always on (which looks to be the case in this situation), whereas dead implies always off but not as strongly. Either way, hot or dead, the pixel's busted. Which direction it's busted in is mostly academic.
