I havent read about these much. What moved you to buy a 510 right after a 500?
>> TiE23
Familiarity, trust in what I was getting would be great, and to tell the truth the 500 was the "family's" - now I've got my own. The 500 was my first DSLR and I just wanted to go a little higher. In difference, it has 10mp versus 8mp, Image Stabilization, Live Preview, and better photo processing and start-up speed.

Also, the included 40mm-150mm lens is much smaller than the older one. 500's was probably 6 inches at it's smallest, the 510's is under 4 compacted.

I love my 510, but I hate the viewfinder on it. I wish they would make a new model with a decent pentaprism.

They do, it's called the E-3 ;)
I have the 510 and I love it. The kit lenses are baller for kit lenses.

Yeah, I know that the E-3 exists, but I bought my 510 for the lightweight and non-expensive aspects. If I buy an E-3 then I have less money for lenses, have a harder to use camera that weighs me down when I'm hiking or traveling, with a sensor that's practically the same as the 510. If I were going to spend that much money on a large, heavy camera I'd get a Nikon. Is it too much to ask for a decent viewfinder in every camera, regardless of price bracket?
