I agree with you man, I'm still shooting film, People who go right into digital tend to spoil themselves, Shooting film your FORCED to learn how to properly set up shots, it has nothing to do with keeping up with the times like>>82011said, AND film is still higher quality then most of the average high end cameras that have 10-12 megapixls, the conversion factor on film makes it about 17 MP, let alone 11x14 plate film cameras that equal about one GIGAPIXEL, but digital will never get that far in my opinon
As for if the cameras a good deal, yea, if you get your basic 18-55mm lens with that camera, your camera, your set. I work in a pro camera shop and the camera w/ lens is $899.99 plus tax (CAD, not that it makes much difference since the dollar is about even on both sides of the border) and the card would be around $200, go for it if you want a good intro level camera
