Help!I recently acquired a Nikon FE and it's been running fine, but today my shutter isn't opening. When I hit the shutter release, the mirror goes up and locks there, and the shutter stays closed.Could this just be the battery (batt. check light comes on) or is something else fucked?EXIF data available. Try setting the shutter speed to M90, and then replace the battery.
>>275779i don't even own an FE, it just kinda struck me odd that it has a battery light. i mean, it makes sense that it _would_ but i guess i just think of newer gear when i hear "low battery light"my office-chair-photog-ness is showing
>>275781what the fuck, my trip keeps dropping and its not saging when i sage!4chan is fucking dying
>>275777It means your battery is toast. The FE can still operate at M90 and B without a battery, but all other speeds need juice to function. Hence the "E" in FE for electronic!
>>275790Well, that's the funny thing - it's working at other speeds now. Tried it from 1/1000 to 8 seconds.Either way, going to grab a new battery tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
>>275793Huh, that is pretty bizarre. I agree replacing the battery is the right way to go, it certainly can't hurt. If the the mirror locks up, M90 will get it down again short of there being a massive failure in the shutter system.
>>275776FE2 syncs at 1/250thOriginal FE at 1/90th
>>275766I used to have an FE and what you are descibing would happen if the exposure knob was on auto and the lens cap was on and therefore the exposure would be so long as to resemble a stuck shutter. Turning the knob then to a manual speed would unstick it as the shutter would then fire.
