/p/ I want to get started in the amateur photography world but I don't know where to start (except that I need a camera) and even then, I don't know which one to get or any of the terms you use regularly.

First off, which camera would be best for me - budget of around £150 ($300).

no no it's a good first dslr, i think most will tell you the same thing... but that's it, a good FIRST dslr. it's an excellent camera but my biggest peeve with mine is that it only autofocuses with AF-S lenses.

D40 = 300+gbp

Nice one recomending a camera 2x the ops budget. 150gbp aint anywhere near enough to get started into DLSR, you'd be looking at old 2nd hand bodies for that much or a decent film body.

Canon Aseries is the best camera you can get but if you cant even afford that then give up, photography = money pit.

If you don't like tripfags, you might want to leave now. /p/ is crawling with them.

I want to start taking photos which I exchange with other photographers for fun and go out on weekend trips to take pictures and enjoy the world.

I didn't mention DSLR once because I am not made of money.

>>126185
Fuck. Why can't people just take pictures without needing e-credit for them?

Ebay-> Yashica FX-3 and a couple of lenses, it should run you less than $50.

Well, first off, fuck off and die.

Secondly, it's extremely helpful in discussion boards like this to have attribution. If I post some advice in a thread, you can evaluate that advice in the context of "Wait, ac? Isn't that the guy who's always posting shitty pics of ugly women which he thinks look better if he bumps the saturation and contrast to OVER 9000? I should ignore this tool."

If you want attribution, go to any of the other 10,000 photo boards on the tubes that require registration. The whole point of 4chan is anonymity.

I suppose the only reason I'm not totally opposed to tripfags is that I automatically know they're all self-aggrandizing asses and don't have to bother reading their posts.

is the d40 compatible with any fish eyed lenses??

The point is, /p has naturally developed to the point of having a lot of tripfags. We see it all the time, someone is anon, and after everyone getting confused about who said what and who posted which photos between mulitiple threads, they at least start using a name. It's the nature of the board.

The whole point of 4chan is the choice to be anonymous.

fixed :)

You can find a used Pentax *ist for less than $300. Otherwise, Canon A-series or SX100IS is the way to go.

Everyone shut the fuck up abot tripfags, all that needed to be said has been said. This thread is about getting me a good camera so I can post pics.

>>126255
I know so little, where can I get said cameras?

OP you're a moron.

Go to jessops or jacobs or curries and ask them, you will get (utterly ripped off) better advice because none of us care about entry level photography. If you want 2nd hand cameras, jacobs stock them locally, London Camera Exchange if you have one or ebay.co.uk
