No, OP, listen, you don't skip on a tripod. They don't break if they're not shit like yours was, you'll never have to replace it. I swear to you my Gitzo once ripped a patch of skin off my hand. These things are once-in-a-lifetime investments.

Get whatever Gitzo, Manfrotto, or Bogen fits your likes and intended purposes best, any of them are fine.

If you buy a cheap tripod you'll just end up spending more money when you need to replace it with something decent later.

If you really must buy a cheap tripod at least buy a Benro, because they're pretty decent copies of pro European designs and not at all like the free electronics store tripods that most people end up getting.

spend the money on the tripod. Its worth it and will last you YEARS and through any type of weather. Manfrotto/Bogen is the way to go.
