Ohhh my, i hope this is win. So much smaller than the previous and canon's version. If it performs like the previous sigma iteration. It will be pretty amazing.

It may well perform better and be more compact to boot. Sigma have really been doing some great things recently.

Poorfag? Sigma's 50mm 1.4 is more expensive than Canikon's offering.

should be 35mm, the last one was
>> Blackadder !!bSWRwu/NqzQ

No, it's marked as a DG lens, so it's suitable for both 1.6/1.5x and 35mm.

this is interesting..

Dude, if you want substandard choices, go for the gold. Get the digital-only lens or the Sigma that'll start having problems in six to twelve months. I understand that my view isn't held by all, nor should it be, I suppose. It's just a product of necessity.
>> Anonymous
you know, you can get the 24-60 for around 200 on amazon right now.
>> Anonymous
sigma makes really subpar zooms

you only get a sigma when no one else makes one

30mm f/1.4 FTW
>> Anonymous
I do wish the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 was closer to $300. For $489, I just can't bring myself to buy a non-Canon.
>> Project !dashI8UpO.
>>261812
lol, if it was a Canon EF 30mm f/1.4L for $500, people would jump all over it.
>> Anonymous
>>261822

If the Sigma weren't crop only, I might go for it.
>> Project !dashI8UpO.
Wouldn't a 30mm f/1.4 be kinda... big?
>> Serenar !m827jEgWi.
>>261841
No bigger than Leica's 24/1.4 I suppose. Or Canon's for that matter.
>> Anonymous
>>261880
I have the 30/1.4. It's hueg for such a short prime
>> Anonymous
Something is being missed- the Nikkor 28/1.4.

It was actually a 30mm, they just sold it as a 28.
It was awesome.
It was very expensive when new and even more expensive now. There's cheaper Leica lenses.

Oh, and yeah, it was huge, as I'm sure the 24/1.4 Canon is, and the Leica 24/1.4 is a rangefinder lens, so it's probably slightly smaller.

Link related, it's a picture I stumbled onto a while back of David Alan Harvey shooting it on a D200. Big lens.

Leica 24/1.4 is a rangefinder lens
Leica 25/1.4 is a SLR lens
Both of them are big, like half a kilogram each

Serenar brought up the 24.

the best sigma made, EVER.

Only downside to this beautiful piece of glass is that its inside a FUCKING GREY SPECKLED PLASTIC CASE. Wtf Sigma? Just make them god-damn black. Also, your 'HighSpeedMotor' is as slow as shite.. sort it out

circular projects a.... circular image onto the sensor/film which has a 180 deg view from edge to edge in all directions.

non-circ fisheyes only have a diagonal 180 deg view.

also take note that because nikon uses a 1.5 conversion factor, they get the full 180 deg view, where-as for canon its more like 167 or sumin.

>>263094
in a sense, yes sigma is the only one making fisheye PRIMES for crop, pentax/tokina has a 10-17 "fisheye" zoom, though its not as fast and doesnt quite have a 180 deg diagonal view. is a lot smaller from pics ive seen though... also, @ 17mm its less fisheyed and more of a wide, but still with lots of distortion...

hope that helps.
>> Anonymous
>>263128

so a circular fisheye gets you a circular image inside a rectangular frame with the edges black

and normal fisheye fills the frame completely with a picture?

>> also take note that because nikon uses a 1.5 conversion factor, they get the full 180 deg view, where-as for canon its more like 167 or sumin.

wouldn't sigma just correct it for 1.6x and still make it 180 degrees?

yes.

wouldn't sigma just correct it for 1.6x and still make it 180 degrees?

they are only corrected for 1.5x as it has a wider fov/sensor(?) and so to avoid having black edges on nikon sensors they had to make it fit that system and thus canon gets the slightly reduced FOV...
