Note: I already have a Canon 5D. I just want a walk-around camera in a small form factor, and I do NOT want a little point-and-shoot.
>> Anonymous
i see what you did there.
>> Anonymous
proof of your 5d or you're just an assbag lying so we help you find a small camera

How the hell am I supposed to show you proof of my 5D? Take a picture of it? With my 5D? I only have one camera, so that's why I'm posting about getting a new camera.

STFU.

bitches don't know bout my mirrors.

man, the g9 and e420's aren't rangefinders.

i don't know much about digital rangefinders but i'm willing to bet none of them are very cheap at all.

just go for 35mm or stop worrying about having a big camera. even a pentax 6x7 isn't unmanageably large unless you have osteoporosis.

>>138323

uhhhhh, take it yourself in front of a mirror? take a pic of your monitor displaying 4chan?

idiot
>> Anonymous
>>138326

I know they're not rangefinders. I'm just looking for something in that form-factor. The ones I mentioned are the top candidates.

itt /p/ gets trolled ;_;

The Olympus is small, but far from being discreet or pocketable. I sometimes use an E-410 with a pancake lens as my walk-around camera, but it somehow doesn't feel like a decent compromise between a full-sized SLR and a pocket camera.

The G9, which I also have, is small enough and still has almost every option imaginable, but feels awkward after you've became used to DSLR viewfinders, responsiveness and image quality.

Sigma DP1 is just vastly overpriced. It has an inferior sensor and lens compared to the Olympus, lacks zoom and IS compared to Canon, and yet costs not much less than both of them combined.

so we can condense your posts to, everything between slr and compact = fail

I agree with this sentiment.

Everything currently sold. It's either not compact or fails at quality.

If the DP1 had a less gay sensor and lens, plus maybe IS, it would be epic win.

So get a used film compact
Better lenses, better quality, no lag, nevermind they're cheap as chips at this point
>> Anonymous
>>138365
Well, the purpose of a walk-around camera, at least for me, is getting pictures of shit quick and without hassle, so the convenience of digital kinda outweighs quality (and I'm not even sure that a cheap film compact with its shitty lens is going to be better than the G9 in most cases). Plus I'll actually need two compacts loaded with different film for indoor and outdoor photography.

then just get a g9 with your superior autofocus, daylight photography and leave us alone

exif wouldn't lie.

The DP1 has a Foveon sensor, purportedly far better than a Bayer sensor.

Why would you need IS on a 28mm lens? Just set the shutter speed to be 1/28 or faster.
>> Anonymous
>>138350

Is the E-420 smaller than your E-410? And your E-420 is bigger than your G9, no?

Dpreview.com says the G9's optical viewfinder is horrible. Can you confirm?
>> Anonymous
>>138378

Do you want me to take a picture of my 5D with my cock next to it, with "sup /p/ 3/10/08" written with lipstick on my cock? Sorry.

all EVF suck shit
>> Anonymous
>>138384

you don't have a 5d, sorry
>> Anonymous
>>138384

at this point, the only way for you to prove it is to take a picture of your monitor displaying 4chan along with a mirror to make sure it's a 5d

but you're a lying douchebag anyway so stop posting

Cheap compacts like an olympus XA have wayyy better lenses then a G9.
>> Anonymous
>>138382
Better than a Bayer sensor OF THE SAME RESOLUTION.
DP1's sensor is 4.5 megapixels. Plus it kinda sucks at high sensitivities/long exposures.
And a stabilized 28mm lens is fine too, being able to shoot at 1/10s is nice for shooting at night/indoors.

>>138383
E-400/410/420 are all the same size and weight. 420 has a very slightly redesigned grip.

And yeah, G9's optical viewfinder is for desperation only, like when you can't see shit on the screen due to direct sunlight. It's very small and inaccurate.
>> Anonymous
>>138386
It's not an EVF, it's optical. It still sucks shit.
>> Anonymous
Epson RD-1s, you can use M-mount lenses on it, plus it's awesomely designed.

in terms of size, which is bigger

dp1 or g9

plus it's expensive and sucks.

Pretty similar, look it up on dpreview or something. No one here has a DP1.

Dudes: Ricoh GR Digital. I'm getting one, and a 28mm viewfinder to go with it.

Awesome wide lens + usable ISO 1600 (for grainy, nice looking B&W) + fast lens + really great hyperfocal snapping mode = crazy delicious.
