Hey /p/eople, I have this old Olympus 35mm and I don't know much about it. I can take pretty good pictures, but I'd like to know more about it - like is it worth much? Can I buy a digital camera that will perform as well and not cost too much? I'm weighing the pros and cons. On one hand, I could keep buying and developing film, and I find that a bit of a hassle, and I do not have a good scanner so it's a bummer if I want to send pictures to people.

What I'm looking for in a new camera would be something that can take pictures in low light with no flash or can have the iris kept open for extended exposures, a great optical zoom, rechargeable batteries (not the duracell or anything, but batteries like they have in cell phones or laptops). A bonus is good video capabilities, with possibly a XLR microphone jack and of course a minimum expandable storage of 4gb. I am currently a college student in the optical media business, and doing volunteer work for Rogers Television (Oh MAN are the cams nice over there. Our cheapest hand cam is ten thousand dollars at least, and one guy even has his own Steadicam)

Tl;dr I am a noob with little money

Just get a powershot. A powershot A570 or A590 are pretty good with noise. Much better than my A520 (see next posts).

Check out this site and look that the noise samples under a high ISO.

Use that OM-1 you have there to take pictures, buy a scanner, and then save up for a real video camera.

The Om-1 is an extremely popular camera even today, you might be able to make 100-200 dollars for it on ebay if it's in good condition.

This was possibly a troll post gone wrong. Either way, be more obvious next time.
