Hey guys. I'm really starting to get into macro photography. Unfortunately, mu current financial status means i cant afford to get myself a good camera or lenses for macro stuff.

nevertheless, my phone... yes my phone (im sorry) has a macro photography setting on it.

Now it isnt the BEST in the world, not by a long shot, and you cant get SUPER close to things. On top of that there is a LOT of noise, i mean, it is a phone afterall. But i've still been pretty impressed by what it can do.

so im just going to dump a few photos here that i feel exemplify the best my phone can achieve and maybe you guys can share some of your phone quasi-macro photos?

Also, c&c most welcome.

Go die in a fire

To OP;
Your drive is there. I can tell you want to shoot. now these examples are alright especially for being a friggen phone camera. I remember using my k750i for screwing around and it took okay shots but nothing serious. my best advice is shop for a better camera if you want to persue photography more. alot of the posters on here are working with 100-500 dollar cameras and are producing awsome shots. I shoot with a d70s and three quarters of the shots i take are absolute shite. you can take amazing photos without spending the big bucks. so invest in a real camera.

At the very least get a shitty little canon point and shoot. You can get one used for probably less then one hundred. Most of the newer models have a macro feature built in. Obviously if you want to be REALLY serious, you should get an SLR, but then your looking at big money. But if you can do the stuff your doing now (I like the spider, the rest are average) with a itty bitty shitty camera, you are probably going to even surprise yourself with a real one...

I've seen good macro photography accomplished by turning the lens backwards and affixing it to the camera with the middle of a drinks can and some blu-tac.

i have to admit, that's really nice for a phone. i keep wondering how long it's going to take before most phones have cameras on the level of cheap to midrange point and shoots.

The new sony cameraphones (which are the best on the market for camers by a long way) are better than digital cameras from 5 years ago already.

Now they have flash + different modes they are only a few MP behind current P&S. The only difference is they will always be limited for sensor size.

Op here, thanks for the comments guys.

One of the hardest things i have found with the phone, is obviously going to be the focus, since its auto focus and its utter shite.

im having a look around now at cameras, bear in mind i live in the uk. And have very little knowledge of what makes a good camera, besides making sure u have optical zoom and not digital.

my knowledge is rather limited.
it's something id like to take up as a hobby more than career, so as long as i can spend a bit (not too much mind) and enjoy myself, i think that's the main thing.

i think half of the battle is finind unique shots/subjects and perspectives.

since, lets face it, the pics ive posted here are all quite typical of someone just starting.

thanks again for the nice words and encouragement.

How much are you willing to spend? If you don't mind a larger camera you could do a lot worse than getting a Fuji S6500 for around £150 off amazon

Fix'd.

Don't forget about lighting. Google up ring lights. You can make your own. Does well for portraiture, too.
