When doing closer up shots (and macros) that require the flash, the lens casts a shadow created from the flash lighting. Would changing ISO fix this problem, or will I need to saw my camera in half to get the shots I want?

Pic is a prime example of shadow on my jeans leg

No.

You either need a separate flash, or something like a ring flash on the end of your lens.

Ring flash seems a tad fancy, I dont take photography THAT seriously

Maybe just a seperate light source
And drill a few holes into it

No shit. I took pictures of my limp dick with 400 speed film and everyone dismissed them as trite, obscene garbage. Did the same shots over in 100 speed, now I'm getting my first ever solo gallery display!

A flash diffuser would do the trick.
