it's not the sun

it doesn't even happen on the side that's lit, only on the shaded part

sensor got confused somehow, don't know how to call it

Still a lens hood would lessen the effect i think.

Also, would taking pictures of the sun ruin the sensor? I don't exactly know how the sensor works. I've noticed a small deterioration in image quality over the years.
