What did you thought when you took and published these photos, here in /p/? "It's Tour Eiffel, so these must kick ass!"
They don't succeed in being good photos (especially the second one). But can't blame you. There just isn't room for a excelent Eiffel photos anymore. All have been taken. When you have seen one photo of Eiffel, you've seen them all.
Though, you could still take techically good Eiffel photos, but even then they wouldn't be anything special. Just a little better Eiffel photos.

But couple pointers still.
On the first photo branches on the right side distrubts me. Blocking the subject with something (branches on the right) doesn't usually work very well. Maybe if you would have moved a little left, you could have covered the sky with those branches, but now it just distrubts.

And about the second one. It's just, well, very badly compositioned. I mean, there is everything, but nothing as whole. Tree on left barely on the photo, half of a man on the front, part of Eiffel...
It might have worked if the whole bench would have been on the photo, insted of just cutting it half. And leaving that tree on the left outside the photo.
Here's my Eiffel photo.

apparently the rate of /p/hags visiting Paris is about 2 per month.

We should choose a place in Paris where /p/hags can scribble down a message for the next /p/hag.

dont forget to get your generic tower shot!

it is obligatory to mention that it is illegal to photograph the lights on the eiffel tower at night. twice a month. obligatory to grind that one in.

Will do. Although, I'm thinking...any way to take an original and somewhat interesting pic of the Eiffel Tower? I mean, I know it's been done a billion times before but..any ideas?

Try it from my perspective. Taken in 1998 with my first compact digital camera, some Olympus jobby. if EXIF shows, I will be surprised.

Also, you might have to take the lens off to get your D-SLR through the cage wire at the top, reassemble, shoot, disassemble, and dont drop the fucker!
