Also, colors look waaaaay different on web than on mah photoshoop, I just noticed :(

White balance? It looks like she has pink eye too.

holy shit stop that thing down son.
wtf kind of jpg compression gives horribile gradients like that but is still a half meg?
>> Anonymous
>>286916

Not seeing the pinkeye, but I've already tried messing with the white balance. Stupidly I didn't think to change it when I shot it; it was kinda spontaneous. This was the only shot I took for Halloween and I want it to come out nicely.

Low light. Isn't that what fast lenses are for? Did you not notice the ISO 800 as well? I didn't want to crank it higher otherwise the noise itself would get out of hand.

As for the compression, that's 12 in CS3, but I'm not sure exactly what you mean by gradients. Where exactly?

FOCUS

also, i'd plow it.

the lens is wide open, no lens is gonna be sharp wide open. even stopping down a little bit helps.

Too bad I am already :D

Also I noticed it looks soft as shit too, probably from noise reduction. I turned "Preserve Details" down to 0%, lol. I'm downloading Noise Ninja atm and I'll correct it when it finishes.

What can I do for her skin, though :[
>> Lynx !!KY+lVSl0s2m

NR isn't your softness problem, its shooting wide open.
I fixed the skin on mine with LR, but those gradients and general jpeg shit in the back are like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkk

colors are pretty goofy and hard to correct. humble attempt related.

I desaturated the white of her eyes a bit, since they had a purple color cast. face was desaturated by -10 with the brush stroke then.

That looks pretty good. What color settings did you use (minus the ones you said, obviously)?

Test to see what this one looks like on web.

i see your color temperature is giving you +/- in lightroom instead of actual degrees kelvin, which means you are adjusting a jpg after the camera applied white balance to it.

Next time, you have three options.
1. Adjust the white balance of the NEF file in lightroom instead of the jpg file.
2. Use a flash, and adjust the white balance in degrees kelvin to match your flash's white balance.
3. Get the white balance right in camera so that the camera doesn't apply the wrong white balance to the jpg because it is guessing on Auto-noob mode.

Fucking noobs and using Auto White balance.

keep a file of known good skin tone swatches, so that you can compare the photo you are working on to a known good photo using the X/Y button in lightroom.

Shplah-dow.

I did a bunch of shit to it, but I still don't like it. No more of the nasty color cast though, I likely fucked it up even more. Baaah

lol, oh u. The WB on my Canon 40D does fine most of the time, and when it doesn't that's why I shoot RAW.
>> Anonymous
>>287173
AWB doesn't matter if you are shooting raw and don't mind spending extra time in post, but if you want to use the jpg direct from the camera, then AWB sucks donkey ball in hell.
