I'm needing something around $200. Anyone have this? Should I get it or any other suggestions for something of the same price range

OP again, how important is image stabilization?

fuji image stabilisation aint shit anyway, dont bother getting that crap

not OP, but I've been considering this as well (wasn't sure if I wanted a P&S or an SLR, this seemed like a good compromise).

I'm confused, however, about the difference between the S700 and the S5700... I've read that they are the same, but was wondering why the S5700 was more expensive.

i'm confused, don't get the stabilization? or the camera?

thanks in advance for any help

Stabilization mostly comes into play if you're shooting in low light sans the flash. I mean, it's a nice feature to have, but for most people here who shoot with DSLRs, if one is going to shoot in low light, a tripod is necessary.

For a P&S, I'd get something smaller with manual controls, if possible. That thing looks kinda bulky.

One of the main reasons I use a dSLR is that I can shoot in low light *without* needing a tripod. It'd be even better if I could afford an IS lens. I only use tripods for landscapes, really long exposures, and pictures that need to include myself.

what i meant is that the image stabilization doesnt do much, I have an s5600, and its worthless, the only good shots are flash shots and outdoor shots shot from 7am to 4pm, the moment it gets dark, all photos go blurry, even with a tripod its not great,
i recommend setting iso to 800 (max on that camera I beleive) and aperture to 2.8, and shutter to maybe 120 or at least 60, for good night resulkts, however even then, you have to set the aperture priority etc every time you switch the camera off and on.

I bought this camera last month. I definitely have no complaints. If you get it on newegg they have a pretty good bundle. I went to curcuit city to check the cam out. C.C. was selling it for $250. On New Egg I paid $250 for the camera, rechargable batteries with a charger, a 1 gig memory card, carrying case and a mean ass tripod. I think it's well worth it for the price and the pics it takes are great. I'd say go for it.

It's fantastic, I recommend it.

I just got mine in, and I'm loving it. But I have just about no clue what half the shit does. I was wondering if there's some website that'd help me out.

You know, I'm not certain, but I'm guessing that your camera came with a manual.
