I just formatted an xD card because shit was going on. Every time I went to capture photos, something went weird and they never would show up again after I put the card back in the camera and turned it on. I then realized that 930mb of my 1gb card was in use, yet there were no pictures. I formatted the card and now I remember I forgot to get a fewe pictures off that I NEED. So, its been wigged by whatever the camera/card reader/software was doing + FAT16 formatted once.
Right now Im running PC INspector on it, its gotten some of my old pics but idk how well its working... about 20% done and has only found 1 file.

Any other ideas on how to get the data back... for free? I don't wanna pay some idiot at a shop to do it or buy software. Cracked software is OK as long as I can find a crack.

Is it really so difficult to compress the image?

It was just a photo I grabbed.

Anyways, I found something called "CardRecovery" that was free, Im going to let PC Inspector finish its 4 more minutes of scanning (Even though its still only found 1 file) and do the card recovery app after.

easy recover professional has a Card Format Recovery, You should try that, It worked for me (when i get used Memory cards I always restore everything on them in hopes of hot porn :)

Downloading now, 15 minutes left.

How long does the actual scan take for a 1gb card? I have limited time (as in 2 hours or so)

Ok installed and started.

This better work.

I hope you got the cracked version, otherwise you are wasting your time,
It pulled over 2 GB of data last time I tried it (on a 1 GB card) Only about 200 pics were savable in the end (had all or most of the data intact) BUT still thats better than anything else I've used (Can't recover data that doesnt' exist!)

BTW took me an hour 20 minutes to do a 1 GB card

Yeah I got the cracked version. Im actuually using "FormatRecovery", my version didnt have your card thing you talked about. The progress bar is at about 15% but the status is still "Determining block size...". Is that reason to cause an alarm?

nope, it will do that for a while
I'm out though, Have fun, as long as you chose format recovery you should be fine

Thank you so much.

If this doesnt work camera owner will take it to shop and see some pictures that they shouldn't.

"Found no files in the selected range."

That means your memory card is probably damaged or overall just fucked, If it was formatted the program would have recovered everything that was on it before hand (minus what was overwritten)

Destroy the XD card and buy a new one.

Well her card is the one thats fucked and she told me that already, its just the issue that I can't remove the shit that I don't want her seeing before she sends it off to the Wolf Camera bitches. If I couldn't get the data back they can't either, right? They don't have any tricks up their sleeves?

I'm really curious about the backstory here. Dirty pictures of someone other than your girlfriend, maybe?

Nope, not my girlfriend's camera and not of a girl.

Illegal substances + girl I'm trying to impress.

As a former Wolf Camera employee, I can almost guarantee that the average worker will have no clue how to recover images from a card...
Oh, and the only thing you ever have to report is child porn, anything else and they're being assholes.
