Both Tamron and Sigma focus to 1m and have same reproduction ratio. Tamron is even cheaper than Sigma, and the focus speed is still big ?, but..
Sigma's HSM isn't that fast or reliable (at least with 30mm 1.4's Nikon version wasn't), but we'll see. NAF version of Tamron has its own AF engine (but not ultrasonic, otherwise they would advertise it), so it's not screw-driven anymore.
Tamron is known for (with Tokina) making slow AF glass, but you can always hope :P
Optically it probably is very good/excellent, I see no point releasing crappy glass nowdays.
