Get closer to your subject and crop to what is insteresting.

i would start by shooting a portrait of ken rockwell instead. he's the only acceptable san diegan in this circumstance.

Balboa is good for shooting, but the background is too busy. There's too much motion in your subject, but just an opinion.

Furthermore, I'm a little unsure about the way you've composed this. Is this the entire frame or have you cropped out of camera?

Speaking of which, are you taking Vella's class at City? If so...and you've cropped out of camera...I'm telling on you.

You know she hates that.

Too busy. Subject would be better in color. Background would be better in b&w or monotone. So either blur the background and shoot in color or choose a different background and shoot in color.

aha. no actually at mesa. and it is not cropped per say, the scanner i was using absolutely sucked. it would not read alot of my images right so it would wither format them on the screen crooked or in other various fashions with bits and pieces of border missing.

Work on not having horribly distracting shadows, rest of it has been covered by previous posts.

never cut your subject off at any joints what so ever.
