I don't see the point in bridge cameras like this. But if you like the FZ50, then get it. I'd go for the D40 without a moment's hesitation, but that's my own personal preferences speaking (that I'm averse to menus, I change ISO and WB from shot to shot and like buttons for them, I like buying junk lenses from eBay, etc).
