Spot or matrix metering for wide(17mm) indoor shots?

Always spotmeter if you have time. Can't go wrong.

Don't use matrix metering unless you're shooting in Av or Tv or something else where the camera makes decisions for you. Use centerweighted average if you're in a hurry in manual mode: you have to pick the exposure, you should be the one processing the information.

CWA tells you what it's doing: averaging together the proper exposure, with emphasis given to the center. Point the center, depending, on your subject or on a medium gray surface, bother to think, and set the exposure.

Matix metering? Who the hell knows what emphasis it gives to what? If you're putting any thought or analysis into your exposure, it's just silly to use a "meter" that doesn't tell you what it's measuring.
