ITT critique

I've been enjoying photography on and off for several years, and purchased my first DSLR about a year ago (was using P&S before). I sold my first photo a few months ago (not this one), and I'd like to get a little more serious.

for being such a tight, organized photo, the composition is pretty lazy. make that shit symmetrical, son. it seems trite, but perfect symmetry is actually much harder than it seems. it's a technique that requires a lot of zen-like patience and control, which is why i think so many photographers give up and toss it on the old cliche pile.

and really, the repeating patterns and sparse visual elements lend themselves to an unobtrusive compositional style anyway.

One more for now. It's a photo of a class I was a TA for last semester. I forgot I had my camera set on ISO 1600. :( But other than that...

the composition is nice and plain on this one. i like it. too bad about the three kids who are hidden behind other kids. you couldn't have asked those fuckers to sit still for a sec? but, yeah. good job.
