My company has given me a couple of assignments to take pictures for the website in the hopes of attracting new employees:
1. Take pictures of the office that make it look like it's not the soul-crushing cube farm that it is
2. Take pictures of Buffalo that make it look like it's not the decaying shithole that it is.

There was talk of some payment in exchange for this.

It's very exciting. I hope I'm up to the job.

Flew about 20 feet over my car on the way home.

Adorama.

Took them a while to actually ship it to me. They listed it as backordered when they sent the first half of my order (a 5-pack of prepaid Fujichrome mailers and a collapsible reflector dish). Then out of the blue I got a "Your order has shipped" email from them when I wasn't expecting it (and briefly thought that I'd accidentally bought a set of Pocket Wizards, since that was the last thing I'd been looking at on Adorama.com. I was a little frightened by that). Then today, I got my Velvia 50 in the mail.

Might just be that there's a fuck-ton of photographers out there snapping up all the Velvia 50, so it took a while for my spot in the queue to come up.

A couple of days ago, there was new shipment of Velvia 50 in our local Fuji lab. Went back there yesterday and they were all gone. People were getting at least 10 rolls per purchase. Crazy.
>> Vincent
>>76180
Lol I bought 30 rolls at once.

Fuck I wish I wasnt broke.

Credit cards, my friend.

It's the American way.
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
How is it? I'm too busy playing with the black and white right now to be playin with the velvia, though i have to switch to a portrait film cause i'm doing a model shoot this weekend

Model shoot? Nice, is it a job or what?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>76198
Note the exif with today's date and the two rolls sitting there on my desk. :-P

Before I actually get to shoot it, I need to finish off the roll of Delta 3200 in my Rebel (32 shots remaining).

So let's hear more about this model shoot.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>76200
Oh, and also keep in mind that I shoot film way, way more slowly than you do. If I'm really burning through it fast, I can do a full roll in one day. I'm very conscious of the price of the film I'm shooting with every frame of film I use...
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms
Oh and ac, I like your new shots, what's on flickr. Good stuff, good lighting.

Heres a few scanned shots for people wondering how it looks, Scanning never does the shots justice IMO, but then again when viewing Slides IRL they always look fantastic!

One more, BTW these are reposts for the /p/ vets here.

Haven't taken much film shots lately, The last roll was really to test out a 15mm fisheye that I bought.(Which I only got 1 shot I liked out of the entire roll)

I will not be going as crazy as normal, trust me ;) /p/ may get pics, not sure. I may put a few on my flickr, if they turn out. Asian model, girl from work needs some shots for her portfolio; black and white as well as color. Let's me play, she helps with developing, i'm good to go.

If I were ever in your position, I'd feel like the luckiest person in the world. I need to work on potraits or photographing people in general.

well, it doesn't cost me anything, she doesn't have to pay me so.. it works out for both of us! :D This is how the conversation went, literally:

Her: "will you take my picture? You're really good"
me: "i will, but i've never taken any people photos before"
Her: "oh thats okay, I love your landscape photos so i'm sure your people pictures will be fine"
Me: "You do realize I shoot film, right?"
Her: "Yeah. All my friends say it's better to use film."
Me: "okay, when do you want to shoot?"
Her: "I've got time on Sunday. Can we use your car to bring my make up and stuff stuff?"
Me: "yeah"
Her: "perfect!"

then my other co worker was, like.. "take my picture too!" :x
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms
And she prefers film. Perfect!

Slow film is slooooooooow.

...but how I love it. Velvia 50 and Ilford HP5 are the best damn films out there.
>> Anonymous
velvia 50 is the new johnny cash.

in that it hadn't really had a hit or produced an album for a decade, gets a shiny new release, and all the justin timberlakes in the world come out of the woodwork proclaiming their lifelong dedication to said master.
>> angrylittleboy !wrJcGUHncE
Just picked up the Canonet I had CLA'd this noon and went to the lab afterwards for some neopan. They ran out, but there were still 12 rolls of Velvia50 sitting on the shelf. Bought one just to see what the fuss is all about.

Sooo... yay, velvia fifty, motherbitches.
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa
i got me some of my most favorite film wile in china.
10 rolls of Kodak Ektachrome E100VS for 370RMB (US$5 each)
>> Liquefied !!CF1+3tSFCce

VS is pretty epic. I love to hate Kodak but I do prefer VS over Velvia.
>> thefamilyman !!rTVzm2BgTOa

yeah, i've got nothing against velvia, but ektachrome VS is pushes all the right buttons for me ^_^

Velvia 50 is pretty cool, but everyone knows real men shoot Fortia.

real men use a film expressly designed for floral photography? wow, i've been doing it wrong.

In b4 chemical plates.

>>76359
It's only Fortia SP that's a flower film. Anyhow, if you're already going to saturate your colors beyond comprehension with Velvia, why not go the whole way?
>> angrylittleboy !wrJcGUHncE
Is there any other film you guys would recommend along the lines of Velvia or Ektachrome that's not that expensive?
>> Anonymous
there that much of a differance in grain between 50 and 100F?
>> Anonymous
what are the differences between x, xF, and xX for fuji slide?
>> Grayson Clark
Love Velvia! I used to do a lot of nature photography and it was my film of choice.

As for grain: In my experience there's not much difference at all between the 50ASA and 100ASA - Fuji's engineers did a great job with the formulations.
You might try ordering by phone from Central Camera on Wabash in Chicago... they used always to have this in stock.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

The problem is that Fuji discontinued the ISO50 for a couple of years and *just now* brought it back. So there's a lot of pent-up demand to be worked through. So it's not just stores not bothering to stock it, it's stores not being able to keep it on the shelves.
