I have bulb mode and a wired remote, so I choose when to start and stop the picture, What you can do is take a black hat, and set your picture for something like 5+ seconds, and then put the hat in front of the camera and remove it when you want the fireworks to be exposed.
Just do some test shots before hand to see how long of an exposure you will want to take, and then expose the sky properly (so you don't underexpose it or burn it out)
