Is it true that the sigma 10-20mm is a poor lens for stitching photos?

would it be something to do with distortion? Or is what ive been told pure fiddle faddle?

set it to 14mm and you're good to go.

its hard but not impossible. basicallt you just have to take more pictures at smaller intervals to get the complete curve. with a wide angle lens you get a lot of curving in the image, and in order to capture it in a very subtle way you have to take more pictures over a smaller turn if that makes sense

why 14mm beethy? Is that the best length to avoid distortion? Why wouldnt it work wide open?
