Minolta SR-1s Sandy
i just found this in a box with some big lenses and other crap still in the original box with manuals. It is called a Minolta SR-1s. If any of you could tell me this if this camera is anygood or not that would be great.

Minolta SR-1s is a rare camera. It's good. Take a good care of it.

well I got the XG-1, which is the cheaper version, off ebay in mint. And it's awesome, so you'll have an awesome time with that. What lenses are you planning on using? Mine came with a tele and a "standard" 55.

I had a XG-1 but the fucking thing broke so I got an XG-M and I absolutely love it

with my XG-M I got a standard 50 and 45 along with a tele 80-200, I love it so much mostly becuase they were free.

Minolta manual cameras are win. I wish mine was still in working condition.

Thanks for the feedback, actualy camera used to belong to my grandfather and i found it in his stuff and was told i could have it. I can't wait to use it, maybe i take some pictures of the mountains with the SR-1 and put them on here.

The nice thing about them is that you can get extremely good glass for a pittance. I scored a 50mm f/1.4 for mine for about $20 on eBay, f'rinstance.

minolta manual focus slrs are the best imo. i have an srt-scII (also pretty rare from what ive found) minoltas are also pretty tough and for some reason stay incredibly clean in horrible conditions (sitting in an attic for 20 years) thats how i found mine and its still in pefect condition. all it needed was a new battery for the light meter.

pic is best ive taken so far with it. cheezy expression i know

Hey, that's the same model I have.

That's very exciting for some reason!

My Minolta SRT-201 is the only SLR I've ever shot with. So, I can't say I have too much experience with anything else, but I do love it. It was my grandfather's and I found it in my garage. Still works flawlessly, didn't even have to replace the battery!

lol my dad bought a minolta X-07 20-something years ago and never figured out how to use it. Come my freshman year, he said if I could figure out how to use it, it was mine. It works perfectly.

I'm sure you could probably say that about most 70s/80s SLRs, regardless of manufacturer.

I think most cameras from that era are tough as old boots.

not the olympus OM series, those things are horrible. not to mention everything on it is ass backwards

Olympus OM series were actually pretty good; and as far as I know; reliable up until the OM-4.

What the hell are you talking about? The OMs basically defined the standard of SLRs for at least a decade.

I'm *very* happy with my OM-1, tyvm.

I see your Olympus OM and raise you a Nikon FM or FE. Not only is the shutter and frame advance lever silky-smooth, but they can take STUPID amounts of punishment and just keep going.
