I take issue with these borderline SLR digicams. They're so expensive that you could probably drop a little more and get the real thing. On the other hand, if all you're interested in is some casual photography, travel pics, pics of friends, etc, then there's tons of cheaper, just about as good alternatives that are pocketable to boot.

Just my 2 guineas though.

I was playing with someones superzoom today, the only advantage i could see over my slr is that it weighs about a hundred times less. So while thats great for taking it everywhere its rubbish for having a steady camera.

Superzooms are only good if you need high quality photos and travel light. (even then an slr is better)
