A Vicious Cycle k0mat0se
This is a photograph I took of my cat today. It means a lot to me. You see, about a year ago (last May) I was in my basement playing Playstation. I saw something move outside my doorwall. It was a large orange cat, with a frail little gray kitten trailing behind. The kitten was starving to death, had eye infections in both eyes, and a respiratory infection. I rushed outside, at which point the orange cat ran away, deserting the kitten. I took the kitten to the vet, where I was given medicine for its eyes and whatnot, and as time passed, he got better. Today, he's a perfectly healthy cat (with a bit of conjunctivitis, due to his childhood ailments). This photo is dear to me because it shows him contemplating the very yard in which he almost died.

Pretty good photograph and touching story to go with it. The composition of the photograph is very good; the only thing I would have done differently is underexposed it some and then bumped up the shadows a bit in Photoshop.

Prepare to get flamed, though, unfortunately. This board isn't too fond of stories attached to pictures or, generally, to photographs of pets.

In that case, I'll salvage this thread with this epic picture of the same cat.

Meh. Story's fine. Picture's dull. It's a cat in a window. Not even a particularly well composed cat in a window.

The blurry and badly-lit picture of the cat reclining doesn't help much. Great for a lolcat macro, but not really something for /p/.

I think it's well-composed. The empty space leads over to the cat; it's the best-composed photograph of a cat looking through a window with nothing happening outside possible.

It's a boring photograph, with an ambiguous (nearly nonexistant) story. You can't gather that touching story you just told us simply from the picture. You can't really gather any picture. It's a bored looking cat. I'm bored too.

HOWEVER, this is a really touching personal memento and memory, that I think you should frame, scrapbook, whatever floats your boat. As family history and a token of affection, it's a beautiful gesture of a photo, and you should hold it dear. But it doesn't belong in a gallery.
