You wont be able to do that any cheaper than the RED guys.

Also HD includes an aspect ratio in its spec, which no camera produces nativly (ergo is not HD)

Mirror lockup or semi-silvered mirrors could obviate the limitations of the reflex mechanism, similar to the way many manufacturers are implementing "live view" right now. The limitations on implementing a full-blown video feature in the next generation of SLRs is probably limited by the SLR form factor more than anything: heat dissipation and battery power in an SLR-sized package.

So is anyone else psyched up about the Red Scarlet?

Sucks that it's a fixed lens, but shit looks real besides that.

By "film camera" of course I mean "cinema camera".

CMOS chips don't do well with electronic shutters.
>> Anonymous
motion film cameras expose film frame by frame albeit at EXTREM speeds of about 24 or 30 fps. They don't just keep the shutter open and have the film run by quickly.
>> Anonymous
btw, do dSLRs also have curtains like in film SLRs? Or is the sensor right there behind the mirror?

>They have curtains like film SLRs do.
They have shutter curtains like film SLRs. Although the Nikon D70 and D70s (and possibly a few others) can do the electronic shutter trick, too.
