Alright I suppose I'm somewhat obligated to post examples from my RD-1s. Didn't get many keepers from my trip that don't include my friends (not posting them on 4chan, sorry), so take this more as an example of what the camera is capable of. This one's been slightly cropped, resized and had levels done. Lens was probably my Canon 50/1.8

Sometimes this thing really really impresses me. All six megapixels in their unresized glory straight out of camera here. Lens was a Leica Summaron 35/3.5

ISO 1600 is a total joke though and I hate Epson for not making an RD-2 with a sensor newer than this 2004 D100 bullshit. More unresized direct from camera stuff with the Summaron.

I think this is the first time i've seen a photo thread from you, looks like you're having fun with the new cam.

Composition is excellent. The sillhouette of the guy is pretty perfect. But with this much material in the foreground, moar dof would have been nice.

>>199067
nice color rendition

>>199068
nice shot, crappy grain.

Wow.
If that's untouched, unsized, unsharpened, straight-from-the-camera, that's fucking impressive.

That's good glass on a not-shit sensor for you.

As I was shooting the sunrise, I was thinking "awesome now I can make some big prints". Doesn't look like that'll happen, but I just got Noise Ninja so I'll see how that works out.

Wrong side of the Pacific. This is Thailand. I should go to Hawaii again sometime though.

>>199164
Yeah I've never posted photos of something other than my gear before. Didn't feel the shitty scans of my film were worth showing.

I was purposely putting those rocks out of focus (like in this shot here). Mistake?

It is untouched, in High JPEG. This is, as I said, the same sensor as 2004's D100, so I can't really agree it's not shit on paper. But seeing that shot makes me feel like all the money was worth it.

0/10

Serious response: When I'm on holiday, I'm there firstly to get wasted, and second to maybe take some pictures. Impressing /p/ is not on my agenda.

I'd trust my camera to know how to meter a rapidly changing sunrise more than myself, really. And AE hasn't fucked up any of my pictures yet.

Meh, taste in prints is different, but personally I could see that coming out fine at a large print, given an according viewing distance. Have you shot digital much before? Noise is always much more noticable at 100% onscreen than under any other circumstances.

>I was purposely putting those rocks out of focus (like in this shot here). Mistake?

On the first one, definitely, here, definitely not.

>It is untouched, in High JPEG.

Shoot raw. Would you want a Polaroid print from your film?

>>199592
Protip: Aperture priority is not auto mode, and this is coming from someone who shoots only manual.

I intend to shoot RAW once I learn to process it. I installed the Epson RAW plugin before I left, but decided I probably couldn't be assed to process the hundreds of shots I was taking that much. I was right. In the future, I'll definitely be shooting RAW because this stupid camera doesn't have a custom WB function.

This is my first proper digital camera, though I've had a lot of experience with my friends' 350Ds and 400Ds. I've never actually seen prints from them though, so maybe the noise is better after printing.

i think the fishing photos would've been better with infinite focus.

the rocks are not out of focus enough to be looked over. the slight out of focus just brings more attention to them. it makes me concentrate on the rocks trying to bring them into focus.

the uniformity of the infinite focus would have worked much better. although, i could kinda see it working with the fisherman being slightly out of focus.

if the horizon waterline was set below the fisherman's feet, would've changed the "feel" slightly

Yeah that's also on my list of things to do. Does it take Epson .erf files though?
