hay /p/

I'm thinking of cancelling my current order for a 350D as the shop are taking ages (I ordered about a month ago) to process it and when I try to contact customer support, none of them seem to speak much english.

So, should I order a 350D from somewhere else or get a similarly priced Nikon of some kind? I heard the D40 is good. The main reason for me wanting a Canon is that I've allready used one so I know how to work it properly, and I like the general feel of the camera, whereas I've never used a Nikon so it'll all be very new to me.

save for longer and buy a better camera. you will regret buying an entry level dslr, i certainly did

I've seen some great shots done with a 350D, albiet done with a different lens from stock.

If you only have enough money to just buy a dslr, dont.

Are entry level such as the 350D and D40 really that bad? I'm only just starting out really and its not like I'll be making a living off it, I just want something that'll do acceptable photos without spending an arm and a leg. I think the 350D is good enough quality for me I was just wondering if you think a Nikon of the same price would be better quality?

Definitely cancel your order. Canon announced the new 450D today, which means that prices on the 350D and 400D are going to drop pretty sharply pretty soon. And if your order's gone a month without being filled, the company's probably trying to scam you anyway.

I could have a 350 in 10 minutes if I had the money. You're getting scammed.

Make sure to cancel the order, abort the payment and file whatever necessary forms with Paypal to ensure you are safe.

Order from a reputable site such as B&H Photo, KEH or Adorama. All come recommended (in that order). They all sell new and used gear. There are no other online vendors worth even looking at.

sorry, britfag here so I dont think I'd be ordering from any of those sites, guessing postage would be a lot?

another reason why one should always check resellerratings.com before buying from sites that have numbers or "best"/price/deal in their name... Until I went into photo business, I never thought such scams existed... o well, I bought all shit on ebay from sellers with A+++++ rating

yeah I'll definitely only order from well known companies in the future. Lets just hope paypal can sort it out

i order from adorama, its great and fast
BUT, shipping RAPES harder than pedo bear, i REALLY dont know how they can charge so much!!!!

Most likely they just add some fee for "packing" that goes to their pocket. Like, you pay $70 for shipping, but whan you receive the packet the shipping price listed directly on it is $10 ... sucks but this is how most of internet business makes money

i just got an email back from that company saying that the item has been shipped back to me via dhl instead of royal mail now :\

I'll still keep the dispute open then close it if/when it arrives I guess.

DHL is the worst you can use for international shipping. I did it twice and I got raped on customs "royally". They make you sign a paper that authorises them to act on customs instead of you, then they declare all shit in the package.. and you pay not only standard customs+vat but also some bigass money to DHL for cool service they provided to you. (my kumo no mukou dvd from amazon.jp via dhl .. price 18€, shipping 14, customs + DHL fees 40€ .. customs are 2% and vat is 19% ... yeah right)

a, also ... did they provide tracking number for that DHL shippement? if yes, then check it to see if they really sent it, if not then continue the dispute

And btw... did the description for your camera said body only? if so, then don't be surprised if it arrives without box, manuals or batteries

Never use DHL

ALWAYS FedEX, believe me the extra 20 bucks is worth it over the bullshit custom duties,

hm well if I have to piss around with any DHL customs shit I'm not going to bother, I cant be arsed with it now!

They did give me a number but I put the number into the DHL tracking system and it doesnt recognise it. Then again DHL use a load of different things to track with so I have no idea which it is.

just put it into that Track your Shipment box. It might take up to 24 hours till the package appears in the system.
