Zoom Lenses Anonymous
ok /p/ im new to photography and ive got the nikon d50, im going to an airshow in july and i want a new zoom lense.

thing is i know nothing about lenses and i thought you could help!

i dont want to spend much, just a decent zoom lens!

70-300 f/4-5.6 is good. It'll be in the daytime so the aperture might be enough for fast shutter.

Zoom lenses range from 10mm to 800mm. You need to be more specific.

well im using the standard 18-55mm at the mo ok for most things but i suspect a 70-300 would be good, is that like a normal lense or one of those HUGE rediculous lenses?

I use a D70s and the 70-300 f/4-5.6. Great daytime lens.

It's at the top pic, fully extended. The wide part at the end is just a hood, the glass ends right after the smooth area. If you retract the lens, the whole smooth area goes inside the portion with the grips.

thats quite a tasty lense, i take it that would fit a d50? if so how much did that set you back?

>>192728

normal as in the type shown in the pic above and huge as in the stupid ones you see people with at airshows

Well those big stupid ones are what you're supposed to be using at airshows which is why the "pros" us it.

And it costs around $110 to $135 but I bought mine secondhand.

Well, you're looking for a telephoto lens which, by it's nature is large. So if you don't want a big lens, get a point-and-shoot or don't take pictures of things that are far away.

They are that size for a reason.

Just buy a 12x zoom point and shoot for less money. It's not like you're looking for professional quality photos here.

Picture found on flickr is an S5 at 12x zoom.

obviously. but since ive only had my camera a year theres no need for me to get one, therefore its stupid for me to get one, i'll just get a 70-300 lense or whatever depending on prices and whatnot
