Amen. That's how most of us decided.

But seriously: go to nearest electronics shop, grab every camera you can afford, play with it for a while, make a list of the ones that fit you best. THEN go home, consider your needs for the body tech specs, lenses and accessories. And then choose from the list you made back then in the shop.

I bought my 30D just because I've read that Canon has less noise than Nikon.
And my first touch with DSLR was when my 30D came. <3
(Never touched one before.)

D80, if not, then the Pentax K10D.

ahh fair enough, the noise thing was true until pretty much the D50 arrived. Every single Nikon since has really good noise performance, either better or on par with the Canon under similar testing conditions... i say that because you can never really compare the two.

But the 30D has decent ergonomics anyway, unlike the Digital Rebel series. Funny thing is, if i wasn't so turned off Canons by the 350D i would have bought a 30D and i'd still be a canon fanboy like i used to be.

Am the only one here who would buy a digital Praktica if it came out? Just a nice, basic, all-manual exposure and focus DSLR. Even make it screwmount.
