I will delete this gear thred when I have your opinion.
Just bought a nikon f-mount body, up to ISO 1600.

Want to buy a Tamron lens but don't know what the highest f number I should accept is.

I like to shoot in ambient light at night in the mornings and evening. Would 28-300 mm f/3.5 -6.3 be tolerable? Should I go for the 17-50mm f/2.8 instead?

I like the length of the first but if my twilight shots will be grainy without tripod I'll go with the other. I'm hoping good glass will make it less of a tradeoff.

Your expert advice is appreciated.

Do you realize that these have vastly different angle of view ranges?

Humouring you so you delete the thread. The 17-50.
Shooting in darker conditions will require slower shutter speeds, rendering the longer end of the first lens useless unless you have a tripod.
