I suggest

Resize, Don't convert pictures to B+W, Give birds not in motion a leading space, not negative space behind them

With very common birds like this, don't take a picture unless they almost fill the whole frame / is composed nicely with its surroundings. Duck in some contrastless water is not exactly interesting.

You see ducks all the time, some are very tame, I bet you could get closer than this given a few days. So don't bother working on pictures like this that you will just end up forgetting.

as a basic start you generally try to have the deadspace in an image with something in it, to be in front of it, so it has (visual) space to move into.

I like the water, and if the shot was composed better I think it might be just below OK. : 3

/p/ is prolly gonna hate whatever you did to try and make it look like BnW film.

o yeh, lrn2resize, its fucking huge.

now that one is too small. and wtf is happening in that, wayyy to busy. The item of interest is a tiny spec in the background while all that boring shit in the foreground, in focus, is going LOOKATME. Not pleasing to look at.

It also looks like she has a beard or no jaw. Got any pics where you were about 3m closer?
