PROTIP: canon sucks.

Truthfully, the XT feels like crap in your hands, but it is a good beginners camera, I prefer nikon though.

Nevermind. What I really wanted to as is, I have this camera that I used to use a lot, but there's dust behind the lens and I don't know how to go about cleaning it out.

I did read about the camera at Sony's homepage:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=DSCP100&region_id=1
but it only mentions how to clean the outside of the camera's lens, and not the inside.

Help /p/, you're my only hope.

That would probably require you to disassemble the camera body and then remove the different optical elements to clean off. You'd probably add more dust than you'd remove. Lost cause. (Most likely)

GET OFF MY TOPIC.

Okay, so I see /p/ is not a fan of Canon. What Nikon DSLR, then, would be a good starter dslr?

OMG, you do realize that question is asked in like 10 new threads EVERY DAY.

Buy a goddamn used D50 or D70s and a 50mm f1.8, Then come back in 2 months. You will only spend $600 MAX on that and will learn a lot.

No, the Nikon users aren't a fan of Canon. Buy whichever one feels most comfortable to you.

300D is OK if the price is right but like Nikon's D40 it is kinda gimped. You should be at least looking at a 350D or D50 as they'll grow with you better.

Yes. The 300D is a fine camera.

NO U

Ugh. Really? It was a somewhat expensive camera ($400) when I got it...

go for the Nikon D40. It may not have all the gimmicks and flashy features of the canon counterparts in that range, but its very ergonomic and fast, like you're using a 35mm SLR. it also comes with a decent kit lens.

there's already a thread about it. check it out.

>fast, like you're using a 35mm SLR.
This implies that the 300D isn't fast like a 35mm SLR, which is not the case.

>it also comes with a decent kit lens.

All kit lenses suck. Some suck slightly more (Canon) and some slightly less (Olympus), but the overall difference is negligible.

All kit lenses are decent. Some are slightly better (Olympus) and some are slightly worse (Canon), but the overall difference is negligible.

Ignore the Nikon/Canon debate and get a Pentax K100D or K100D Super... they offer shake-reduction with any lens you'll buy, which is WIN. If you want to step up to a 10MP camera, get the K10D and fall in love with the dust/weather seals.
