I have a Canon EOS Rebel G and I'm looking to get a Fish Eye lens for a reasonable price. What brands or outlets should I check out?

Fish eye lens. Reasonble price? Does not compute. Anything less than 24 seems ridiculously expensive to me.

Well known sellers:

is that full frame fisheye or just a wide lense?

Fisheye, Works better with no crop factor though, The Fisheye effect is much more prominant

If cropping out the corners is fine, you're an idiot if you buy any new lens for a fisheye unless you're infatuated with the look of that particular lens.

If you just want a fisheye, buy whatever cheap adapter you need and one of those old Russian fisheyes.

If you're not fine with the corners being cropped, I can't help you.

Peleng 8mm Fisheye generally goes for about 150-300 dollars. Good luck finding one, though.

Are these just some sort of filter?

No filters involved, AFAIK.

An adapter, which has on one end something to hook it to your camera and on the other something to hook some lens with a different mount to it. I think all the 35mm-format Russian lenses are M42 screwmount, for which adapters are very common and will work perfectly on anything but the F mount, where you lose infinity focus.

The lenses themselves are, well, lenses, plain and simple.

>all the 35mm-format Russian lenses are M42 screwmount

*most* of them are. However, there are several exceptions:
- Lenses designated with "-K" suffix are Pentax K-mount. Since there are several variaions of the K-mount, they are not necessarily compatible with any K-mount camera, though.
- Lenses designated with "-H" ("-N") suffix are Nikon F-mount. Obviously, they don't meter on low-end Nikon digital bodies, just like Nikon AI lenses. Some of the newer Belarussian lenses, including the aforementioned Peleng 8mm, are also made in F-mount versions.
- Lenses with "-A" suffix have replaceable rear flanges (think Tamron Adaptall). However, rear flanges for K-mount and F-mount are quite scarce.
- Some older lenses were made for 39mm screw mount. It's rather hard not to confuse them with 39mm rangefinder lenses (AKA "Leica screw mount"), as only the flange focal distance is different. M39 to M42 adapters do exist and you can probably find some on scambay.
