Not sure if this is the right forum Anonymous
I want to get more in to live video (I used to do a lot of stop motion) and previously all I used for capture were increasingly better quality webcams. After spending another $100 or so on the latest, I finally realized this was a fruitless effort.

So now I'm looking for an actual camera. Preferably one with a hard disk, an external microphone jack, and a decent resolution.

tl;dr: What's a good hard disk camcorder?

hard disk/dvd cams are silly and terrible for people who are actually going to edit. unless you get a semi pro cam, they compress to mpeg and store it on the disk, so if you want to edit you have to convert it to dv, (huge pain). just get a dv cam

Are there any dv cams with USB interface?

there might be, but it wont do what you need. you need firewire for standard dv capture. firewire cards are only like 20 bucks, shouldn't be a problem
