Okay, so I bought a new camera not long ago from amazon, a GE Model A730. I'm not huge into photography but I enjoy it and thought it would be nice to have a digital camera. So when i bought this camera, it was working fine, but a few weeks after I bought it, it starting adding these weird lines to my pictures. i think it has something to do with the shutter, because it doesn't happen when i make videos, but I don't know for sure.

Attatched is one example, another coming.

Can you help me at all?

/p is a slow board, give it time.
Looks like a problem with the sensor. I wouldn't know specifics.

Looks fucked to me. Tried the usual tests of changing the card for another, cleaning contacts and trying a different set of batteries?

You think that's disgusting? That's cleaner than the rooms of some relatively fastidious people I know.

And yeah, OP. It looks like a sensor problem; that's probably what you get for buying a totally off-brand camera. Could you take some pictures in strong sunlight for us? It's strange how the flash makes it worse, and I'd like to see if that's something else or just more light hitting the sensor.

turn off interlacing.

id say its a combination of a buggered/ish sensor and using high iso and high gain.

banding, though yours is pretty severe is common with high iso's. even on new slrs

if under warranty, fix, otherwise ditch and replace with a brand/camera that is well known for quality.

this happened to my friend's Samsung. He had run about a bajillion pics though it before it failed.
oddly the lines only appeared with still images and not video.
