Also don't shoot at 64 ISO. I used to do it when I first got the camera. Compare your shots at 64, 100, and 200. You'll see that 200 is very usable and has little noise still. That's usually what I shoot at. It's well worth that little bit of extra shutter speed because a minutely noisy picture is better than a blurry hand held one. Also if you ever get into a situation where the AF just cannot figure out where to focus, try setting macro mode. Even when you are using the telephoto end of the zoom. Sometimes that allows it to figure out how to zoom correctly.
I've had it since Christmas and learned how to work it pretty well. I don't have any good shots to show for it though. : / Coupling never getting to go out shooting with taking shitty shots while out shooting and thus I have no photos to show for.
