I want to get in to photography.

I've been talking to afew people over MSN who are avid photographers and they reccommended me either a Nikon D40 or a Canon EOS as a good entry level DSLR

Anyway, I've been reading a beginners guide to digital photography, but it's a crap book, so I was wondering if you could explain some terms to me such as

Depth of Field
Composition
What do all the lens numbers mean? such as .35mm

I used to have a rougth idea but this book & wikipedia confused the fuck out of me

Go back there and try to figure it out. It's not that hard. You don't exactly need a class and lectures to figure it out.

I forgot to ask in my previous posts, which camera would be better?

if wiki confused you, the explanations here will make your head explode.

we get this way too much, as is.

go back, re-read, and try to stop being so simple.

Stop bumping your own stupid thread and just buy the D40.

Odds are you'll just be taking pictures of stuff on your desk or sunsets in JPG medium anyway, so who gives a fuck.

Go to a junior college and take a photography class. If you're like me reading just confuses but having a teacher there to explain it, even if it does seem simple to people in photography, helps a lot.
