the first 2 are boring

Simple, properly exposed, but as>>186935mentioned, they aren't very interesting.

as interesting as a lecture on the value of turning milk cartons into bird feeders.

>>186917
some bit more interesting but its subject isn't that much more interesting, its aesthetically pleasing in some sense but it

A. Lacks an interesting subject
B. Doesn't ask questions
D. doesn't inspire any emotion.

I think the 3rd one has a very strong composition. I would try to edit this to separate the colour tones of the bridge so they don't blend in to the sky.

I think the first one's more interesting than the third, but they're all really boring.

This painting has great lines, but nothing else. It lacks subject. It would certainly need something more. Maybe a person? Doing something interesting. It's such a boring painting.
Why does people even publish such bad paintings? I wouldn't pay even a wooden nickle for it.

Guess what: it's called minimalism.

On the contrary, it has meaning. In this composition, there is a good sense of balance between the planes and colors. There is obvious focus on the basic foundation of drawing, lines, to form the linear planes. And the strategic use of primary colors allows for the formation of a unique triad.

What does it represent? There is so much to tell in it. Could it be a representation of the rhythm of a piece of jazz? Or perhaps the grid of New York city? The dynamism of the streets or the yellow taxis moving through the streets. Perhaps it's a map of the subway or the play of lights in the city skyline.

I see the point you're trying to make. However, the painting was unique and original at the time. Your photos look like just another artfaggy minimalistic set of boring photos. When done properly, these shots are amazing though, so keep trying. I kinda like the texture of what's in the lower part of the frame of no. 186914 so you're at least heading somewhere.

Almost. Needs one more element each. Something human, preferably, to give it that city feel, or even a bird or something.
>>186917
Awesome. Totally works. A plane or bird would kick it up a notch higher.

If you have to guess so far and wide like that then it is full of shit anyway. Throw a dart at the map or flick through the dictionary and pick whatever you want it to represent at random. This sort of thing is what gives modern art a bad name.

The main difference between this and your first two is that this has both horizontal and vertical lines. Some don't cross the whole frame. With your first two you come in from one side of the frame and your eye follows the line straight out the other side and you're done. With the minimalist painting you can come in from any side, you can turn corners to keep the eye in the frame, it has the splashes of colour at the edges which add interest.
