why would that be a pet peeve?

anything to do with megapixels.
>> Anonymous
>>"Oh wow your camera takes really good pictures"

Actually, I agree. The composition is boring, cliche subject, etcetera, but the bokeh, sharpness, and flare is pretty nice.
>> Anonymous
>>221555

Ill start with that one.. .I did some photos for a friend's project, he said "OH WOW! thats ace, your camera can focus on him and keep the background bury!! thats ace"

Onto my peeve....

when you see a point and shoot that looks like a SLR... the point of a point and shoot is to be small, compact, ive got nothing against that, they have a very good use and i carry a high power one around with me at all times if my SLR should fail or any reason.

WHY MAKE IT BIG AND HUGE FOR NO REASON THAN TO LOOK LIKE A SLR! AND CREATE A ARMY OF SCENE EMO FAGGOTS WHO THINK THERE AMAZING!! "oh woowww, i took a picture of a lawn-chair in the shadow, slapped a B&W preset on it and had it printed out at boots... i must be so brooding and deep" FUCK OFF

/cruise control off

pic wasnt related. It pisses me off when they say it when I show them something like a portrait with thoughtful composition, lighting, emotion, etc.

so much more goes into making a nice picture than the camera. thats why it pisses me off.

Ergonomics. Besides the basic shape of the 35mm SLR being awesome, most of these have usually unnescessarily (sp?) long lenses on them; try holding a 4xxmm equivalent lens steady with no grip, etc. They fit over one's shoulder, which is where a camera should be when not in direct use. If they really have to be put up, they can fit in a jacket pocket.

>> Anonymous
>>221555
Yes. I absolutely hate this. Does the photo have anything to do with my skill as a photographer? Nope, it's the camera.
>> Anonymous
>>222155

Do people really say stuff like that? I've never heard someone do the oft-reported "your camera takes great pictures" thing or the "I could do that if..." thing, with my work or someone else's. Do I just hang around exceptionally reasonable people or something?

I was standing in the dark room a while ago, while I heard an ad. It went something like this, translated:

-Kacheek-
a: Wow, you make amazing pictures!
b: Haha, no, It's not me, it's my camera!
Loud voice: Want to take better pictures as well?
Get a new camera! Buy it now from www.something.com.

I laughed, but it did took me a while to understand they were serious.
>> Anonymous
>>222183
It did gone tooken me a while to understand thems too.
>> Anonymous
>>222183
Buy one, take some shitty pictures with it, put it side by side with your best work on other cameras, and sue their ass off for false advertising.

DO IT.

"Oh wow your camera takes really good pictures"

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Also; in PA Dutch country, "Your pitchers got good".

or.....

"pity you didn't get it in color".

Friends often mistake me for a good photographer when I know for a fact that my skills are crap so I tend to say 'It's my really good lens.'
Borkeh makes the ladies swoon though.

What pisses me off to no end is the recent obsession with 'lomography'. I have too many hipster faggot friends who use those toy cameras seriously. It's something that should have died in the 90's but instead lomo international keeps organizing 'art' exhibits in malls.
The people who follow this trend are even worse than the cunts who latched onto drifting after Tokyo Drift came out only to realize that they didn't know shit about driving and they wasted all their money and an entire car, rendering it useless for road use. Faggots drove the price of already-rare RWD cars through the roof.

+1 for the Lomography hate. Goddamn I hate hipster assholes who have more money than sense. Morons who pay too much money for a broken photoshop action they can hold in their hands.
>> Mutt !!mIF4ZkWn+B/

They came at about the same time here though.
AE86 costs US$20k when a couple of years ago they were US$3-5k. Cefiro with RB26 Costs US$10K when before they were 6-7k. And they're all caged, lowered, and their differentials are welded shut.
The funny thing about my friends who are into that lomo shit is that I've never seen a single picture they've taken.

"Should have used a direct flash..." when they see that pics taken in dim light with a fast prime still aren't ISO200 or below.

Generally just walking down the street and seeing people who take a lot less photos than me carrying a camera worth MORE than mine.

yep, jealous fag i guess. mine cost me 680 quid (1300 bucks) but there are ugly students in my city carrying D2/300s.

makes my head turn into a vegetable with rage.

so just because you couldnt afford one it makes you mad to see someone else using it? thats ridiculous that you would get mad about someone using it for that, you have no idea why why bought that camera dont jump to the conclusion that they just bought it because it has lots of megapixlez, maybe she actually has an interest in photography.
>> Anonymous
>>222225
+1 again, I hate it when I'm in the darkroom and some hipster messes up the chemicals by using them in the wrong order. When I tell him he's doing it wrong, all I hear is "Oh that's okay, it makes the pictures more special."
