The K20D is superior to the D90 in every single way.

The D90 is just newer.

High definition video? What the fuck are you talking about? The Nikon D90 will have point and shoot video capabilities or what?

yes.

people who decide to buy a D90 simply because of the video mode.... are not real photographers they are soccer moms.

I like both the Pentax and the Nikon.

I am bias i own a D80 but i like the D90 because of the Cmos sensor (which the Pentax has too) and the nikon lens line up. (which pentax does not)

I always see K-mount lenses in pawn shops.

The K20D has weather-sealing and lots of dedicated levers and switches, though i'd still go for the Nikon.

The video mode is a pretty strong factor for me. The camera itself will be Nikon quality, of course, so it will be a great still camera. Taking HD 720p video is an added bonus that appeals to me as a film maker.

I could spend $2500 to get an HD Video Camera and not have a good DSLR, or I could spend $1600 for a D90 with a good lens and have a good DSLR still camera and an option to shoot some HD Video.

For all major video projects, I'd probably just rent equipment anyways, as not being a cinematographer, DP, or camera operator, I don't have much use for a video camera 48 weeks of the year.

I would love to see you spend $2500 ad grab an HD cam. Too bad the Panasonic HVX200 and the Sony XDcam don't go for anything less than 6 grand. I know that the new nikon will shoot 720p image, but as another film-maker I would laugh til I cried if I saw some one pointing an SLR a set that wasn't the set photographer or the scripty.

Buy a good SLR and rent you film cameras. And for the love of god learn to shoot 8mm/super16 first and then move onto HD, you will thank me later.

Dude, that's all over the netz.

You mean "Super 8 and 16mm", right?

how about Super8 and Super16?

I'm sure he said what he meant. 8 and super16 are both spool, rather than cartridge(super8), formats. They're the small "real" cine cameras. *Most* super8 cameras were aimed at little league moms. (soccer wasn't big yet)

so double 8mm was a pro format?

PROTIP: Super8 was/is also available spooled and could be loaded into 200ft. mags.
