i really like it, is it of cornstalks in the winter?

if you want to grow corn, plant it in the spring! not the winter!

i thought everyone knew that!

While not bad, I'd like more of the sky in frame. It just seems too bright because the field covers 2/3 of the image.

Yes it is.

It was either focus on the sky or the corn. The reason why the corn seems so bright is because, well, the sun was shining bright while the background clouds were dark. Good thing I was shooting film or else the crappy dynamic range of my digital camera would have clipped the highlights (or made the sky too dark).

I really like it. The dead stalks and menacing looking sky provoke a really ominous emotion.

Maybe-Optional-Depending-on-Shutter-Speed-Step 1: Put camera on tripod.
Step 1/2: Set the lens to its hyperfocal distance.
Step 2/3: Select a suitably small aperture.
Step 3/4: Set the shutter speed.
Step 4/5: Have everything in focus.

I'm pretty sure I shot atleast F16 if not F22. I shot it with the Nikon 18-55 lens, which has a pretty close focus distace. I basically had to decide to have either the corn in focus, or the background in focus (when you're that close to the foreground, it's really hard to have both in focus).
