Okay I have a question.

I have this digicam that I don't know shit about but I want to take some good pictures for a little project with it.

But when I take pictures they turn out like shit and I don't know how to handle the cam.

I know this is not the best place to ask, but: TEACH ME!!!

This is what pictures turn out like WITHOUT flash. (pic related)
What the fuck is up with that grain? Why is it that dark? (Actually those really dark parts aren't even there!) Why can't the camera capture the actual lighting?
Which buttons do I have to press? I got this without a manual and I don't know what to look for.

(Yes, I know, needs moar lensflare, it's just a shot to show you how the pics from that cam look and I herd u liek lensflaer :))

This is what it looks like with flash enabled.
The lighting in the room stayed the same!

Again it's grainy. The flash makes anything it exposes look totally unlively and cold.

Again: How do I took pics with cam?

Also: This is the highest resolution! (I scaled them from 2,2k to 1k width)
But you can see no details! :<

Can I at least improve this?

Here I zoomed on the floor of my balcony.

It looks so crappy, can one improve the quality with changes of the adjustments?

And this is my nightsky without zoom.
Yes, it's a NIGHTSKY.
And yes, there were stars.

And no, those red thingies aren't stars.
And NO, that WHITE thingie is not a star it's a fucked up pixel that's in every single of those photos.

Why does it do that? ;_;

I want to take decent pics with medium quality.
Damn this thing, how can I improve this?

Can I improve this?
Please tell me, I can improve this, I don't have too much money atm. :(

I'm pretty sure that's the manual for your camera. You need a grasp of exposure. Most of your pictures have a shutter speed of 1/20 of a second, way too short for those dark situations.

How do I change the shutter speed?
I wasn't able to get the manual that you posted but I found one in German.
But there's nothing about shutter speed, it only explains how to take pics with/without flash, etc. :(

THere's also nothing in the camera's menu.

And when I take a pic it automatically sets the shutter speed!

There's a little wheel for the settings, there's "Setup" (where I can't change the shutter speed), a camera (for making videos), then there are "A", "S" and "P" (I have no idea what those mean), then there is "Auto", "scene" and a microphone.

I tried A S P and AUTO, every one of the four settings produce similar picture results and shutter speed doesn't depend on how long you press the button. :(
The different settings only change the lighting ON THE DISPLAY. The pictures you take afterwards are DARK again.

"A" is aperture priority mode. You control the aperture, the camera sets the shutter speed. "S" is shutter priority mode, you control the shutter speed and the camera controls the aperture. "P" is a programmed auto, it's kind of like an advanced auto mode.

Read this, it might help: http://www.uscoles.com/fstop.htm

aww fuck, OP again.

Okay, I have to find this out tomorrow.
Its 10 PM here and I used up my batteries.
I hate those little fuckers complaining about too less energy after maybe 10 pics with flash. :/

Any recommendations which batteries to get? It needs normal AA batteries.

Tomorrow I'll need to find out how to change the shutter speed.
You can change every other setting only the shutter speed seems unreachable.

Oh, and does someone have any idea if you can fix that dead pixel?

>>123892
okay, so I may have to look at the "s" settings, right?
Because on P for example there were only things like white balannce, lighting control shade/sunlight/lamplight, focus and such.

allrighty, I'll take a look at the link

Not necessarily. If the image is too dark, you can do several things.

1) Open up the lens in aperture priority mode. This will let in more light in a given time. However, this will reduce your depth of field.

2) Increase the shutter speed. The longer the shutter speed the more light will come in. However, this can result in a blurry image from camera shake.

3) Bump of the ISO and increase the sensors sensitivity to light. However, this can result in more noise in your picture.

4) Use a flash to illuminate the scene. However, using the flash is tricky and sometimes can make the photo worse unless you know what you're doing.

What you (or the camera) have to do is decide a balance between the four depending on what you're wanting to achieve in your picture.

cuz /p/ stands for tech su/p/port right?

google "photography 101"
wiki aperture
wiki shutter speed
wiki ISO
READ THE MANUAL

I know this works because I took a self-imposed crash course on photography 5 months ago.

when you're done with those
google composition 101
google golden rule

if this is too much for you, leave the wheel on 'auto' and be happy with the results of your on-body flash.

1) How do you open the lense?

2) Yes, that's a problem, I don't know HOW I change the shutter speed. There's no setting for it and pressing the shutter longer/shorter doesn't result in opening it longer...and google says nothing.

3) Yes, I need to try that. But even more noise? It's on auto and has so much noise in it, doesn't it?

4) Yeah, I obviously don't know how to use the flash, see>>123874
It's the same setting as the first pic but with flash. I dont know how to change it. It loses all colours and warmth.

Actually I want to take the picture exactly like it's set up when I look on the display/through the looking hole. :(

you missed the point entirely.
When I turn the wheel on auto, pics like the ones I posted will be taken.

i posted the thread because I need to know how to operate this thing manually so I can actually take some pics!

i dont want to know something about lighting or settings or the golden rule, I don't want to become the world greatest phtographer.

I have this camera and I need to take some picswith it and I want to learn how to do it, because I don't have money to buy myself a new one.
Also...the camera is only 2 years old and should work perfectly fine. But it was like this from the beginning and it was a present so I didn't bother.
Now I need it and I don't know how to use it.

Also: I have no manual and the manual I found online doesn't tell you ANYTHING about shutter peed but the fact that the camera is able to calculate automatically...what it obviously can't.
>> sv !!vC9KZM3Ch/H
OP, what was wrong with the manual I linked? Not the right camera or what?

http://www2.oregonscientific.com/assets/manuals2/DS9610.pdf

Page 13 and 14 (page 5 of the PDF) discuss the different modes and using them. It says to use the directional keys to increase/decrease the shutter or aperture. Your camera may simply not allow you much manual control. I don't think most P&S cameras do.

As far as your battery concern, I'd recommend getting some rechargeable NiMH batteries or similar.

And yeah, you really need to Google some information. Even if your camera can't do what you want it to, it'd good to know these things in case you decide to upgrade in the future and then you'll know what you want.

I'm done with this thread.

>I need to know how to operate this thing manually so I can actually take some pics!
vs.
>i dont want to know something about lighting or settings

Here are step by step instructions for how to get the most out of your camera:
1. Grasp camera firmly in your dominant hand
2. Bash it repeatedly into your skull until you die, because you are too dumb to live.

>>123954
No, I can't access the manual for the site won't load.

>>It says to use the directional keys to increase/decrease the shutter or aperture

There is no menu for increasing/decreasing it. If I knew WHERE I have to do this I'd do it but like I said: While taking the pic, the camera doesn't allow any configuration and does every thing automatically while in other modes you can only change every other setting but shutter speed.

>>123966
Yeah right, please make a manual I'm too dumb to deal with your instructions. Please take pics of you while doing so I can see exactly what to do. Especially the dying part, I've never done that before.

Seriously my friend. I'm not into phtography and I don't want to take awesome pics. I want my camera to take decent pics and don't know how and some guys on this board may have enough experience to help me configurating my ccamera, because, like I said, automatic-mode turns pics into grainy dark shit (see pics posted before).

And I can't access the site from sv, I don't know why, maybe because I'm from Germany and the site blocks my ip? I DON'T KNOW.

Also, google says nothing, google has nothing about this camera but shitty reviews how awesome or what a piece of shit this camera is.

I thought MAYBE someone here would have had a similar problem with one of his digicams and knew a solution to this.

This camera takes shot only with automatic shutter speed...which is NOT enough. You see the pics? Actually the room is brightly litten!
It captures darkness and noise...

Now I try to figure out how to change the shutterspeed, the manual does not work and the menu of the camera won't let me change it!
And I don't know how to make the pictures brighter otherwise! And I don't know how to reduce the noise! I tried a lot of things, I changed every option at least 2 times!
