in this work of mine I'm trying to portray the powerless individual (chain link) in the strong and faceless grip of the modern society (chain ring)

Pretentious. Ridiculous symbolism. Caption needed for it to be anything but a random shot.
>> Anonymous
Its more like: Hey, i look after my bike and keep the chain well-oiled.
>> Anonymous
That is a fucking spotless chain.

Good work anon.

Listen to this man.

Why are you shooting in SP mode? Why is your ISO set to 1600? Did you take this with a macro filter on the end of your lens? Because this sort of DOF shouldn't exist at f5.6. When you have time to set up or studio your shots, every setting on your camera is done with a purposeful reason.

If you had time to set up this shot, you should've set more lighting on your subject so you could've dropped your ISO speed.

Oh, and what>>176148said.

look man, it's not that shallow at all. the system, the "ring" is what sets the chain in motion but every single link of that chain is as important--

wait what. none of us is irreplaceable :O that pretentious shit of mine is not only cliché but badly thought as well.

so have a photo of this excellent hutchinson tyre. so far it has endured everything I've set it against, except for one single and stupid pavement hit I could've avoided.

If you have to explain the "meaning" behind your picture then it loses any real meaning.

and isn't this what a caption is really for? yes, when done PROPERLY it's merely a subtle hint, something that guides the viewer associate the picture with whatever the photographer had in mind - but it's still text attached below the photo

sage this shit

There's a difference between a simple meaning and a pretentious attempt at being deep.

Also, "in this work of mine I'm trying to blahblahblah" isn't subtle at all. :)
