Until fairly recently i've never done much photography, but after messing around with my dad's Nikon D40 he tells me the pictures show talent. He then bought me a D80 for my 18th. So, is this parental bullshit or am i any good? Pics related

you know how american idol keeps perpetuating itself season after season?

parental encouragement and the self-delusional kids who believe their parents when they can sing just as good as mariah carey.

i'm not saying that this is the same scenario here, but it's something you should consider.

plus, it's not like we can exactly decipher whether you're good or not (probably not) from one photo. but that doesn't even matter. here are the basic facts.

1) you like photography.
2) you have a camera.

what else is there? you shouldn't even begin to worry if you're good or not for at least the next six years. you've got a camera, now go get a flickr and fill the son of a bitch up.

>go get a flickr and fill the son of a bitch up.

and, yeah. resize your photos before you upload them. 1000 pixels on the longest side. that's plenty big.

Could have been a pretty decent photo if you took it from a different position and got more of the right statue in the picture. I really like how the soldier is posed.
