Then up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, and the shutter button. It puts your camera in Ken Rockwell mode where your JPEGs come out looking perfect straight from the camera with even the crappiest lens.

The 18-200 is a decent lens if you don't pixel peep.

I actually tend to believe this. I think the photography world spends too much time worrying about how sharp the picture is and not nearly enough actually finding interesting subjects and composing them well.

(That being said, the Canon 80-200 f/4.5-5.6 that I have is a piece of shit and I'm rarely pleased with the shots I get from it. But at least it was only $40)

You tried stopping it down like with the kit lens?

You ever considered adaptors for M42 or FD lenses? They can be bought very cheaply and you can have fun with some nice old lenses that way.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>159279
Yeah, still kinda sucks stopped down. But meh. Most of my good shots come from the wide-normal end of the spectrum anyway.

Haven't really considered getting an adapter, but now that you mention it, I *do* have a 300mm f/5.6 for M42 mount that I'm not really doing anything with...
>> Blackadder !!bSWRwu/NqzQ
>>159284

I had a lot of fun with a set of old M42 lenses before I had a decent native Canon mount set. That 300mm 5.6 sounds like a good candidate to me!
>> Blackadder !!bSWRwu/NqzQ
>>159285

I'd also add that if I saw a lens like that 300mm that I couldn't afford on native or even if I could I couldn't justify buying it for occasional use I'd be using the adapted one and buying one I saw for sale if it was cheap enough. I'd be all over that lens like Butterfly on a free A700 if I had it nearby.

OP here, just got the 17-50mm tammie. The vignetting kills

I want a shiny gun metal, gold, or silver body. Not some faggy black handbag or china plastic silver.

I've been considering trying to figure out how to skin my TLR. Does that count?

(The designed-to-look-like-leather plastic is from the 50s, so it's coming off. I'd really like to replace it with something pimptastic, like purple velvet)

i had my D80 for over a year and never used that feature, I know what it does
but never need it ..
I focus on what I want to be in focus and hold down shutter button half way, ( that lockes my focus)) then reposition camera if needed
>> Anonymous
>>160461
Cameraleather.com and Aki-Asahi should have some adhesive kits for TLRs. If yours is a popular model, that is.
>> Anonymous
>>160461

You can send it in for refurbishment so they can pimp your TLR.

Wow, that's impressive, I wish I had an camera which could be pimped. (Should've bought a scratched Nikon FG instead of a pristine one, lol)

I usually get misfocused shots if I try that focus & recompose technique.

Also every other sensor except center sensor usually gives out of focus images.

The camera can't track people walking towards me, focus is always in background.

Focus is usually in background if I shoot stuff in dim light.

I have no idea why all that happens, but all that makes photographing moving stuff or real people very hard. That's why I use my D80 mainly for static buildings, flowers and other boring shit.

I suppose I could post some examples too..

First static, unmoving object (a wall). Focus seems to be good.

Good focus subjects include buildings, flowers etc.

But when I switch to people, it usually looks like this. I tried different modes (af-s, af-c), center point, other points.. 12 shots with a bit different composition, all out of focus...

The woman (nor her horse) was not moving anywhere. I have loads of other examples too...

Still same stupid 70-300 VR tele lens. I was in Stockholm, and photograpehd all kinds of buildings with it. Some details too, everything was in focus. Except people :-<

I also took loads of snapshots with flash, usually everything was focus from 2,1m-> god knows how far, but the guy 2m away was not. No matter if it was f1.8 or 5.6... zoom or prime.

I wish I had a flash meter so I could use a flash with my manual film camera. Sometimes I used my D80 for that, but it's way too slow and cumbersome.

Digital would be perfect for snapshots, since film is a bit expensive, and mostly because I'm far too lazy to scan rolls after rolls of film :) But I can
't figure out what the (&¤&( I'm doing wrong.

I've been awake last 38 hours, and I'm a bit pissed off after looking through the images... maybe I should just go to bed and try to figure out what I'm doing wrong later.

I can still see vignetting even on the 50mm, not that noticeable when it's bright though.
