because you're the only one who thinks that

I don't see how extra features is a bad thing.

>I guess this'll be nice for filmmakers who don't mind having to use a body designed for stills

Implies that.

It really is amazing what people around these parts will bitch and moan about. Utterly stupid.

Did you get a boner?

Convergence is the trend.

It'll take about 5 seconds for someone to release a frame to which you can mount this camera, via the standard tripod mount, which allows for more "video camera" like handling.

On the flip side of the coin... cheaper prices will make this equipment available to potentially creative people who otherwise would only have access to handycams. And will give them a hell of a lot more creative options, too.

I've always had some ideas for movies, but looking at the equipment options made my cringe. If I can use my Canon lenses on the 5D Mk2, I say this is a change for the best.

>What sort of zoom/focus options will be available while recording?

Since AFAIK, all EOS lenses have mechanical zoom and mechanical manual focus, I don't think there's anything they could do about stopping you.

>Nothing stops you from zooming, but that can also upset focus.

Depends on the lens design, but I figure at least some lenses (hopefully most or all of the Ls) are parfocal.

I'm a videographer who's always wanted a decent/serious DSLR but never been able to get the paper up to buy one. Whenever I can I snatch my friend's D300 and snap a bunch of pictures, but now I actually have a legit reason to get my own camera. I'm excited to say the least.

Will the contrast focus AF be available?
>> Anonymous
>>267423
Not sure, but no one even slightly serious would use autofocus for a video production anyway.

Yes, contrast-detect AF will be available.
