Traded my new Nikon D200 w/ Nikon 50mm 1,8 for this:

Nikon D80
Tamron 55-200 4-5,6 Di II LD M
Sigma EF-500 DG Super
Sigma 17-70 2,8-4,5 DC Macro 1:2,3
Nikon ML-L3
Hoya skylight filter
2x 1gb SD ultra

imo a fairly good trade, i didnt like the wierd softness on the D200, photos taken with the D80 are a little sharper, i will miss the 5 FPS though =)

Hate you. I'm gunning for a D80 sometime later this year to replace my Fuji.

As far as bodies go, isn't the D200 considered superior to the D80? Not criticizing, just wondering.

Yes, considerably. It was most likely user error or something wrong with the camera. Especially considering that the 50mm f/1.8 is a much sharper lens than any of the three the OP got in trade.

ill quote dpreview.com's review of the D80:

"Nikon appear to have shaken off the soft-image demons of the past and are also using a slightly stronger (more consumer friendly) default sharpening level than the D200."
