yeah the jokes are pretty epic. it started on an IRC photography channel where I'm a regular.

but, well, the photography jokes in there are _terrible_. other classic jokes are the "bigma", "sigmonster" and the canon 10-1000mm f/1.0 L

>the canon 10-1000mm f/1.0 L
This really shines when you add on the .5x-2x zoomtelewide converter.

Which IRC channel? This is relevant to my interests.

What's so odd about that?

I hand hold almost all of my photographs; landscapes or otherwise. I havent' used a tripod in years, with a monopod only every once in a while, when I take my large lens out. I'm sure he hand holds, too
>> Anonymous
>>40689
its doable. the lens is also only 14mm, so that makes it easier. its all about how you hold the camera, and controlling your breathing. kind of like a sniper.
>> Anonymous
>>40699
i guess i'm just shaky, but i have trouble getting a clear photo under 1/100 shutter speed.
>> Anonymous
>>40700
Handholding 1/15 at 14mm is cake. Just use the rule; you can hand hold if your shutter speed is equal or faster than your focal length.
>> elf_man
>hand-held?!

He likes to talk about IS making a tripod unnecessary, except at night. Or with a really huge lens.
>> Anonymous
>>40705
I wouldn't say absolutely unnecessary, for things like shooting the exact same thing and so on.

I can hand-hold a two second exposure decently with IS. It's hell and will usually take a few tries, but like someone said, it's doable. That's the proper word.

>>40700
thats pretty bad, lol.

i've hand held 1/10th, 1/8th, something around there exposure with my powershot a630 at its wide end. whenever i do that i breathe out and hold my breath. i might get a little shake, but i always resize the pictures anyway since theres no reason to keep them that huge to show to someone, so its not even noticable.
>> elf_man
>>40709
Naw, that's just what Rockwell says. I don't have enough experience to say either way.
