Just had some film processed and scanned today. Some of it was out of focus (ahh f/1.4), some had motion blur, some had light leaking in somehow, and some were shutterfucked by my aged Canon A-1, awww.. All taken with Fujicolor 100.

Here's the very few that turned out okay.

Train station on the commute home from college. pp'd it to reduce noise, add contrast and color balance towards cold purple, small cropping to center the vanishing point.

Don't care much for this but it was clean so what the hell. I find it too busy. This was walking towards the train station. Warmed it a bit.

Now this had no pp whatsoever other than a resize. Amazingly, I nailed the focus right too. Probably my favorite of the batch not to mention cleanest.

Well, that's it. I'm stuck shooting with this until I get me a dSLR which should be around Christmas... sigh

Though I am checking out a D50 body right now and a friend is selling me his D80 kitlens for half the price. What's a good kit for about 600 USD? Also considering 350D.

And comments on the photos too.

UP/ADMU or Miriam?

I'm guessing UP and that you were same person who posted the Palma Hall pic.

Just try to replicate your A-1 kit. You've got a 50/1.4? Get a 35mm of some sort. Etc. Etc.

Its film having a much larger Dynamic Range than digital, so yes it is HDR but not in the way you think it is.

I love the colours, but the foucs on #1 is really irritating.

Digital has more dynamic range.

Wow. Fucking bravo. Am I the only one who was totally blown away by this image? Protip: An image doesn't have to be sharp as hell to be good. This has really inspired me to play around a lot more with the stereotypical long shutter speed crowd shot. If there was more blur or if there was no motion blur, then I wouldn't like this anywhere near as much as I do. The lines, repetition of the sharper pillars on the left, the slight motion blur- for some reason, this really came together into something I really love.

Street photography without a strong, interesting subject. There are a lot of little things I like: the huge overpass, the tangle of wires in the upper corner, the foreign signs, but none of them are really strong or interesting enough to be a subject. My eye just wanders. Try focusing on one of those and get closer. Maybe take a long shot of the sidewalk sprawling out before the camera, wires and signs cluttering above people (who become more interesting the closer you get) who can give us something more to look at. Composition's not bad though.

Another great shot! This, not the usual photo of random boring people walking we see on /p/, is more like street photography. Only issue: A better angle might be more in front of him, allowing us to read the sign more clearly. I know I've mentioned it in another thread, but a good way to get this guy more clear and sharp while isolating the background might be a soft spot filter on the lens or actually blurring the background more through photoshop instead of using your aperture to set DoF.

Otherwise, great stuff! Moar to come?

GTFO and do your dynamic range arguing somewhere else.

Absolutely love the first photo, would love to see the original without the work done on it...

Here's the resized original scan of the first one. Beats me why the color balance is off.

because colour print film is normally daylight balanced. (exception for Tungsten balanced film).
(in short film has a fixed WB)

Thanks for taking the time to share the original, I really like the picture! I hope you post some more stuff here in the future, do you have a photo blog? If so, do tell ^^
