Hi /p/, I have a question. I know I'm not an expert on this so just hold back on the calling me a faget.

Why, when I take a picture with my 5megapixel camera, does it come out pretty blurry and not that great (what you'd expect from 5 megapixels)...

Yet, when I take a picture with my camera phone, which is 3megapixels, it comes out clear, sharp, with great colour definition?

I had an 8megapixel camera once and it came out with really sharp awesome pictures. Is it because of the megapixels, or something else I should be looking for when I purchase a camera?

Thanks.

I wouldn't say shit but the ones with higher zoom x will be better.

True.
I'd say that for you to print a 3x5 you need at least 5x zoom.

Thanks ants. Thants.

Do megapixels and optical zoom go hand in hand? Like, I will need an 8megapixel camera for a 10x zoom?

If 8 megapixels you should get a bit more than 10, more like 13x.
Oh and if the front lens is big then don't get it. They cause really bad flare. Go to a shop and look for at least 10x zoom cameras then get the one with the smallest front lens.
