So? Having a lens hood on greatly reduces the chance of flare and washed-out images.

yes, moron, otherwise, why would i have posted with "what could have been improved?"

list the faults, in generous, specific, constructive detail, list the remedies, and lets waste less time whining like little children.

RAAAAAGE

OP SUCK A FAT MOTHERFUCKING COCK GET THE FUCK OUT MY /P/ YOU DUMB MOTHERFUCKER

no but seriously you used the on board flash directly on your subjects causing flat, washed out lighting and a sharp shadow coming from the kid's hand. there's too much glare coming from the sun, you shoulda faced a different way. composition's lacking. i don't see the point in off-centering your subjects in this case. they're not really even on the thirds. maybe you were trying to show off that tree back there, i dunno. the kid's bug costume confuses me ><

you motherfucker.

so a lenshood helps shooting dawn photos into the sun? good to know.

why?
>> Jesus !1EQ.kCAg9c

>> Anonymous
>>183413

there was no flash. in fact, you pissant, i think the camera- Nikon D70/stock lens was even set to auto, just to make your vag even more sandy.

your arguements on composition are duly noted and appreciated.

what is your advice on shooting sunrise, now that i have your attention, you mullett-headed skink? i personally would have chosen a manual filter if i had to do it all over again.

Do you know how to resize? It's the minimum courtesy you can show for those who are about to spend time looking at your god awful shit.
If you can upload, you can resize to make it 1000 on the long side jesus fuck. (sorry jesus)

>>183367
1. Don't ever shoot into the sun. If you can see glare in the viewfinder, you bet your ass it'll show on the image.

2.judge it yourself. does it look good (no)? How do I fix it (see 1)

3.candids are rarely shots that are worth critique. as soon as you start thinking too hard, it's no longer a candid. I see candids as reflex shots. Others see candids as surreptitious moments in other's lives.

In this case, both definitions fail. I don't think it was a candid. You tried hard and it failed.

>>183423
boring, but better exposed.

Why don't you tell us what you want to know? Framing? Exposure? Models? How to make babies cry? Flash exposure?

tl;dr, you can't improve candids. you can improve>>183423though. but since you didn't ask, I won't say.

Take a step back or move the camera over a bit more to include more of the woman; give her a little space between her and the margin, basically.

Otherwise, I like it, OP. It's a little washed out, but that's nothing a little curves or levels in Photoshop won't fix. It's not a great shot, but it's a nice candid portrait of the two of them.

>1. Don't ever shoot into the sun.

Wrong. "Be aware if you're shooting into the sun you're liable to get a variety of flare effects, and shoot accordingly." Flare is not always bad, and rarely will ruin an otherwise good picture.

Also, lens hoods and lenses with good coatings will do wonders.

>.candids are rarely shots that are worth critique. as soon as you start thinking too hard, it's no longer a candid. I see candids as reflex shots. Others see candids as surreptitious moments in other's lives.

>In this case, both definitions fail.

This is basically incoherent, but it sounds like whatever you were trying to say is wrong, anyway. Most photjournalism, documentary and street photography is candid, and dismissing those genres would probably dismiss at least half of serious photography being done.

a)resize, do i know how: yes obviously, was not aware that it was neccessary. many most humbles thon thee and shalt never post larger than thusandsuch a size. i figured /p/ would be fine with the large. i cry.

b) you're half-right. it was candid, but only after staging for some other shots. this photo was basically accidental.

what i want to know is how to get that sun-kissed/glowing look without the washout- i.e., how to photo a subject at sunrise and get that great detail. in detail, in technical terms, without the USE LENSCAP retards

c)and since you offered, ". you can improve>>183423though. but since you didn't ask, I won't say."

i ask. improve my boring photo.

TIA

thanks, indeed!

I've dicked with this photo and never found anything better than; that is, i can't fudge it up into something it ain't, and it has some pure power as a candid , so we'll leave it as is, but i truely do appreciate the feedback. i'm glad somebody sees the love. in the photo. the love in the photo...

why are people consistently this stupid. how do you not know beforehand that this is a stupid thing to do.
>> Anonymous
>>183444what i want to know is how to get that sun-kissed/glowing look without the washout

Use a telephoto lens with a long hood. The cause of the washed out look is the sun shining across the surface of the lens at an angle. A lens hood prevents this, but the deeper the hood the better it works. Since wide angles by necessity require short hoods, the hoods are less effective at blocking sideways light and it's harder to avoid washout- hence tele lenses.

becuase there is no instruction manual. my atari had one, /p/ does not. end list..
>> Anonymous
>>183492

ah so. now, the sun is about 15 degrees over the horizon here, and i'm shooting basically due east. why won't the lenshood just get me wierd shadows or a poor exposure.

well, shit, i might as well go answer my own question. cu p
