Fujifilm Finepix S6500fd Anonymous
Sorry to ask, but...
Why isn't anyone asking 'i'm goin to buy it, is it good?'
Characteristics are pretty ok.. price is ok.. so why? is it really so bad no one's considering buying it?
Canon S3 seems to be the favourite, how does this camera compare to S3 in term of pic quality, ergonomics?

in b4 'dSLR', i'm not ready for it yet.

signed, great site for a wide range of cameras for review.

I wouldn't compare it to an S3IS. The closest camera, IMO, would be the Panasonic FZ-50. Decide between that and this one, not a JPEG only camera with simpler zoom and focus controls.

I own it... and can't wait something else... takes forever to focus on something... I had better shots with the S5000... Way better....

Do you pre-focus?

Manually prefocusing is almost a must with point-and-shoots. The good thing is that they're better at it than any 35mm film camera can every be, because of their larger Depth of Field.

Please go learn what these things mean before you run your mouth off out of your ass. DOF is dependent on the lens, no the capture format.

OH MAN, I LOVE POSTS LIKE THESE
You jsut fucking OWNED YOURSELF

Bigger the sensor, shorter the DOF, Why do you think P&S camera's always have EVERYTHING in focus,
CAUSE THEY HAVE TINY LITTLE SENSORS

I'd recommend the FZ-50 over the Finepix anyday of the week.

Oh, guess i better say why. Besides any technical advantage (i'll let you look it up), I feel the FZ-50 is much nicer to hold. To me, thats important.

wow, quite some responses. i'll look at www.dpreview.com, thanks.
about concurrent cameras, is there any other besides FZ-50 you could recommend over the s6500?

maybe there's some other website where I should lurk more?

ps. wtf is prefocus?..

> Do you pre-focus?
I don't see how that's relevant. If AF sucks it sucks, workaround isn't a solution.

I think Sony and Konica-Minolta might make some similar cameras, but I'm not sure.

Prefocus I'll explain later or let someone explain it; I've got to go.

>>49796
AF is going to be slow on almost any point and shoot; I say this as someone who primarily uses point and shoots. That's part of the deal.

Besides, do you realize for how many years the only options a photographer had were manual focus and prefocus? They work almost all of the time; AF is a back-up, for when there's no time to adjust the focus and prefocusing is difficult, even on SLRs, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm afraid thats not a recommendation, son.

Konica-Minolta doesn't make cameras.

Also: Cameras nowadays aren't really set up for manually focusing (unless you're using a Leica or similar). It's better to acquire skills in working with your autofocus than to try to manually focus a camera that sucks at manual focusing.

I've already read smth about prefocusing, thanks.
I've read some reviews now and I think I'll go either for this one or I'll get enough money, for FZ-50. I really want to get a camera with zoom and focus rings.
Or maybe Canon will release smth like S4 or any another S3 successor...

They actually just announced an S5IS.

I've got a S5100 that I bought 3 years ago because I wasn't ready to drop the cash on a full SLR, and I'm still very happy with it. (I'm planning on getting a Nikon D80 in the next 6-8 months) Fuji's cameras are (imho) the best camera to go with if you're not quite ready to drop the cash on a full SLR. And they won't break the bank.

In after "DSLR". He's not ready for it yet.

What's there to not be ready for? If you don't buy additional lenses, it works not so different as any DSLR-like camera.

unfortunately all they really upgraded was the price tag

I'm yet a fag who wants to use turning lsd as a viewfinder and the price is the main reason, probably.
i'm young, and will be able to buy good dslr in some years if i'd feel i'm really into photography.

about s5.. yeah, it seems that it still lacks some features other have. like raw
