Honestly, as long as I keep it on full Manual so i have full control (except the focus of course), the d80's great. I run into a lot of problems with the color & exposure of the shots changing if i post them on the internet (the two shots here are examples, they look a lot more vibrant with the gold reflector I had on her in camera and on my screen in photoshop & lightroom) even when I have it converted to an sRGB profile.
That makes me very, very unhappy.
Aside from that, though, i think it's definately worth looking into and getting. It's kinda wimpy (didn't survive what my film camera would have as well as it should've) but it works.
