Typical amerikkkan, you didn`t read and understand the question.

What is Amerikkkan supposed to mean? That we're all clansmen...? If so, that makes no sense, because America is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world.

And how do you even know he's American? Oh wait, I know - it's because all Americans are stupid, right??

Typical 4chan faggot. Go kill yourself.

Anyways, back to the subject onhand. Fuck off.

K10 if you don't mind some hassle with the settings and less AF lenses to choose from.

Less lens to chose from for the K10D? You've got the DA series of lens to choose from, the FA series of lens to choose from, and the FA-J series of lens to chose from! And if you want to skip autofocus you can use the old screw mount lens (aka M42) with an adapter, and the older M series K mount lens. That's plenty to choose from.

Nice thing about the K-mount with pentax is that 30 year old lenses will work just fine.

The current Pentax lens line-up is not bad, but it's still three times smaller than Nikon's. As for third party AF lenses, every third party lens with a Pentax mount has a Nikon-mount cousin, but not vice versa.

It's right that D80 sucks for old manual focus lenses, though - it can't use neither M42 nor Nikon AI stuff right. But not everyone loves playing with old glass.

OP here, can anyone attest to the optical quality when comparing the lens lines of the two?

The K10D is definitely better on the spec sheet, and it's what I would get, but just buy the one that you feel most comfortable shooting with.

Who cares how large the lens line-up is if it has everything one needs? Between Pentax and third-party companies, someone could easily get pretty much any sort of lens they needed.

I have a K10D and LOVE it. (I managed to get it, a 50-200, 18-55, and other goodies for under $1,000. I also have the vertical/battery grip.)

I like that I have the priority modes and I feel a lot more comfortable shooting outdoors because of the weather/dust sealing. The image stabilization is nice, but I use a tripod or shoot at around 100/200 ISO and a fast shutter speed.

I do, however, like the D80 and would recommend one over a D40x. You may want to wait for the D300 to come out and get one of those.

I bought a d80 and it works out well, but buy the camera which you can handle comfortably. Moreover, what are you planning to use this camera for, travel ?

the k10d rocks hard. awesome camera for the price. i have it with the new DA* 16-50 2.8. kicks ass.

I mentioned the lens line-up just because some people can't live without a hundred potentially available lenses. For example, current Olympus lens line-up also has almost everything one needs, but everyone still bitches about it.

Yeah, I plan on using it in the field easily more than the studio.
