Yeah, the hand thing was unfortunate and unintended, but damn she jumps high! It was hard work keeping her in the frame, heh.
I used a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, it's a joy. At 1.8, you get dreamy images with fabulously shallow depth of field, and from f2.8-f8, it produces images that are freakishly sharp for a ~$100 lens. Everyone starting out should get one of these.
What do you think of this shot, taken later that day? It's quickly shot up to my #2 most "interesting" shot on flickr.
