Need ideas... Ethan
I got a few shots of this historical building here in Ohio earlier today. It was the coal burning power plant for the CD&M that closed in 1933. I want to use it as a final project for my college photography class. Anyone here have ideas or advice on how to approach this? As in, finding the owner, arranging a 'shoot', etc.?

Also, throw me some feedback on the pic.

thnx

Here is a bit of a detail, sorry for the bit-o-blurry pic before, sky was REALLY bright, aka sunset behind the building.

Usually the county tax assessor has public records detailing ownership and who is responsible for a site. That could be a start. Otherwise "urban exploring" has sometimes been interpreted as "tresspassing."

Yeah, I would rather do it legit.

pussy. Go around the building, find your point of entry and go for it. I've been to so many abandoned places and i've only got caught once. The dude ultimately didn't care because I was a harmless person with a camera "who was doing a school project".

PS looking at that picture, the place doesn't even look boarded up. You've got like over 9000 point of entries. Just make a run for it inside.

That sky is breathtakingly boring, and way overexposed relative to the actual subject. Go back at an appropriate time of day on a morning-or-evening when the clouds are more interesting to look at in black and white.
