Now I have an important question.

This or D40? and why?

I'm contemplating on buying either of the two. Please answer why as well since I know /p/ is not a big fan of the d40 I just want to hear why compared to this.

D40 because nikon lenses are cheaper, and the D40 works with more legacy equipment that is cheaply found on ebay.

Canon lenses are generally less expensive than a similar Nikon lens. Not by much, no, give or take $100, and it swings both ways.

Depends on what you define "works" as. Yeah, it'll mount on it alright. Except you have no autofocus and no metering.

Get yourself a screw mount adapter for a EF Canon and there you go, you just got the exact same thing, plus it'll even meter properly!

Whats an EF Canon (sorry newb here)

no motor in the d40 body. a good MOUNT OF LENSES WILL NOT METER OR AF. Fuck the D40 anyway, same goes for you D60...

Great for a beginner! Just don't shoot in P mode all the time. Play around and experiment with it and you will become a better photographer.
