Hello, /p/.

I have come to ask you guys for help. I know nothing about digital cameras and I need help picking one. Can anyone in here help me?

Canon A-Series

I should be more specific. My main use for the digital camera would be to record videos. I might take a couple of pictures here and there but mainly recording videos. Would that help?

Get a video camera.

I would prefer something I could keep in my pocket. Also, I am on a budget.

Casio cameras are pretty good, I gots one myself.

Just be sure to get a good one, like a Z100 or Z200

Then get a cheap, small video camera. It's simple, if you want to shoot video you use a video camera. That's why they're called video cameras. Still cameras suck at shooting video. If you buy a still camera specifically to shoot video, you are an idiot. If you are going to be an idiot, just buy whatever you feel like and don't ask for advice about it.

Not OP, but I came here for the same purpose. I am not looking for a video camera, but I would like something that has that option if needed for some reason.

I would like to keep it under $250, but I will be willing to go to $300 if their is something that sets it apart from the pack. SD memory is a must, but a digital without that now and days is crazy.

Don't want to put up another thread.

Get the Flip Ultra Video Camera. My friend won it from a drawing put on by his apartment complex and sold it to me for $50. They sell new for like $120. I was really impressed with the video and sound quality, and it fits in my pocket perfectly. It's about the size of a cell phone.

I usually shoot with a DVX-100b prosumer video camera, and believe it or not, the Flip supplements it nicely. I have the underwater case too which is well worth it

Canon PowerShot A650 IS. It skirts the top end of your price range, but it's well worth it. The big plus is the manual controls- in other words, with ten minutes of learning if it starts fucking up on you in the normal automatic mode you can make it take good pictures nonetheless.

There are cheaper A-series, but they all have smaller sensors, which means less image quality. Look at those if you don't want to go up to the $300 limit. They have the same other good things, just with a smaller sensor.

Looks like here's your answer, OP.

>>230266Get the Flip Ultra Video Camera.

Good fucking God NO, do not do this.

For the same price, you can buy a cheapie point-and-shoot that takes the same quality video, but ALSO does pictures and has an honest-to-god memory slot so you aren't limited to sixty minutes forever.

If you want good video in a compact package for not a lot of money, buy a real memory card camcorder. Forget the Flip, it's extremely overpriced for what it does.

Addendum: If you can get one for $50 like Anonymous did, then yeah, you're getting a good deal. Full price? No :|

still a waste of $50
those cameras are pure shit, my cell phone takes about as good video as one of those

the kodak m1033 records vids in 720p hd and takes 10mp pics and runs around 180 that would be great for you

One problem: it's a Kodak.

Tomorrow I'll post a video taken by a low end casio camera, I'm sleepy right now.
Until then, come up with suggestions as to the video subject and I shall deliver.

Everything.

Kodak can make some great technology, but they can't seem to put any of it together into a camera that does shit for shit.

For the same price as a Kodak, you can get a better camera from another brand. Just fucking avoid Kodak.
