Best For the price Anonymous
Ok so im looking to Buy a nice digital SLR camera for around 5-600$ what do you recommend?

I'm in the same situation. The only cameras in this range you can buy new are the Nikon D40, Pentax K100, Olympus E-500 and the Canon Rebel XT. I've been focusing on the former 2 though, since from what I read, these are the 2 best ones (and the most recent).

I can't make up my mind though. D40 is great cause it's light and more comfortable, but the K100 has anti-shake built into the body while being heavier. WTF, /p/. How does a man make up his mind like this, I ask you.

If you can possibly stretch yourself to a D80; do so. Otherwise, the D40 is a really good choice; and in my experience has a better selection of lenses than the K100d.

The canon's also good, although I find the colours are more accurate on the D40. Not seen much of the K100d.

Go for Nikon. Nikon is awesome. Can't go wrong with Nikon. Nikon is superior. You know you want it.

No flames, but I will point out that pentax glass can be just as good or better than nikon glass at times, and vice versa.

QFT!

seriously though, you can use any 35mm glass ever made by Pentax with it

anything before that would require an M42->K adapter. Which in some cases can be an inconvenience.

true but all the same as the adapters are available for cheap on ebay
