Careful when loading the film. Make sure to stick the leader into closest slot, not over the spool. As long as the rewind knob turns when you advance it, you'll know it's loaded well. Also it makes a certain noise when advancing. When I tried using this camera for the first time, I ended up not shooting a few rolls because I was retarded and didn't load them right.
Otherwise, it's a great camera. I mostly use AV mode and it usually meters spot on. It's far more accurate than my XTI in that regard. The only downside is that its shutter speed tops out at 1/1000 seconds.
I have a subpar sigma kit lens, the Canon FD 28mm f/2.8 and 70mm-210mm Macro and recommend both these lenses as they are cheap and offer excellent optics.
