I've never played with the mark III's or D2x / D2H's, BUT from playing with a D50, D70s, D200, D80 D40 and D100 on the nikon side And a 30D, XT, XTi and 20D on the Canon side, I have to say as far as comfort and feel, The D200 and D50 are clear winners for me (Sans battery packs)
They are not only comfortable, But on the D200 A few motions can change almost every setting imagineable on the camera, And Its an extremely confidence inspring hold. (no worrys about slipping etc) It makes the D40 seem like a toy though, I wouldn't ever recommend that over say a D50 or D70s.
Xt and Xti are probably the worst IMO, And the 30D is my favorite on the Canon side, Especially with a decent telephoto on it (70-200 IS).
