Hey /p/ i have a question.

I currently own a Lumix FX-3 and i've had it for about 2 years now. Birthday is later this year and because my dad probably has no idea what i get me i might be able to talk him into buying another camera for me.

I'm thinking an advanced point and shoot but what good ones are there? I'm not so sure i want an SLR because i'm about 70% sure i wouldn't know what to do with all of the buttons and dials and lenses but i want to play with a few more options than my Lumix can give me right now.

tl;dr: recommend an advanced point and shoot camera for me please.

Advanced P&S's are not watered down SLR's, they're over-glorified regular P&S's. It's either stay with a P&S or jump to an SLR, don't bother with the crap the corporations tried to cram in between.

Oh. Without this devolving into some flamefest/fanboy war would you tell me a good entry level slr?

Canon 450D, if it's too expensive for you, wait a bit for the 1000D, if it's still too expensive the cheapest you can get is Nikon D40 which is a nice camera in its own right.

What he said ^
But.. A 450D is really an entry level camera with the price of a semi-pro camera.

A 1000D or a 400D would be perfect for you. They cost abit more than the 40D, but they are actually useable as professional cameras.

(ill also mention the 300D and 350D as cheaper alternatives that are still better than the d40)
