so what does /p/ think of ultra-macro techniques?
the idea is to take a medium-telephoto (I use an 85mm) and then attach another lens to the end of that in reverse position. you can use the zoom on the second lens to adjust visible area, and focus with the first lens.

focal distance from the end of the second lens is less than 1" and focal area is too small to count.

diamonds.. i apologize for the soap scum on the bottom lol. i didn't notice it at the time.

i didn't resize these so that they could show complete detail. It should be noted however, that these are incredably cropped. the area that you see in the viewfinder is probably only 15% of the total image size. the rest is blacked out, so i cropped it.

yeah, the focus on the lemon isn't right, but at the time its the best i could get. i was bored in a darkly lit ballroom at a wedding reception. light in the pic is from flash.

i did that once. i used a cheap 35-105mm zoom with macro on the camera and reversed my 50mm f/1.4 in front of it.

Half eaten chocolate digestive. No idea how close, think it was 135mm with reversed 50mm via 49 to 49 reversing ring.

I need to clean my sensor too.

But a tan is a sin and a cos all in one!

Protip, You can change the aperture, There is a little lever that controlls the aperture, just manualy push it till it opens up, In fact its like a Reverse DOF preview, since it actually lets you see what you are focusing on.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

More knowledgeable pro tip: Won't work with the Canon EOS system. Uses computer control rather than a physical lever to adjust the aperture.

But, if you want to have a smaller aperture on EF lenses, you can always put the aperture to what you want, press the DoF-preview button, and while holding, remove the lens.

This can of course fuck up the the lens and maybe the body, but if you do it on the kit lens or some other expendable one (50/1.8II), there's no worry. Works great.
