Road to Perdition camera anachronism Anonymous
Hey guys, in "Road to Perdition" Jude Law uses a camera with a Live View viewfinder but the movie is set in 1930s or something.

They didn't have digital cameras back then, is that a huge movie error?

Ground glass, look it up.

It's like this. It's got the LCD screen where you can frame the picture.

No, that's a big piece of glass. Not an LCD.

And anyone criticizing Live View as something for stupid point-and-shoot soccermoms ought to remember real cameras do it this way, too.

Film nub, you clearly didn't watch the prequel "AI: Artificial Intelligence."

That's actually a robot named Gigolo Joe come from the future to take photographs with his 1Ds Mk. IX.

"yeah the production designers really messed up lol

no way a 1930s camera could beat my camera

its a 4x5 camera. A lot of photographers still use them today, because film is better quality then digital (if you know what your doing)

You make it sound like a bad thing D:

In all seriousness, what could go wrong? I'm already shooting nothing but film so I already know how painful that is.

Oh lawlz, Hollywood! Like the dude would use a glass to take pictures of a murder scene. The Speed Graphic has a Kalart on the side (left hand side of the camera in the picture). It'd take forever to set up and take the shot. What they did do in those days was to load the film using a holder and line up the shot using the Kalart, compose the scene with the viewfinder (on top of the camera), and take the shot with the Graflex Flash Gun (slow asa in those days). In this way, the Photog could snap off at least two pictures per minute (4 if he was really good at it).

Using the glass would entail a lot longer process.
