Suggestions- Testament
Right now I have a Fujifilm S6000fd which isn't a terrible camera, and a Nikon N75 with the kit lens. I really want to save up money for a digital SLR and 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens, but I'm not sure which camera to save up for. My choices pretty much are the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, with either the 50mm f/1.4 USM lens (which is more expensive) or the 50mm f/1.8 II lens, which is really cheap, or the Pentax k100D Super, which has a $100 rebate right now and is supposed to be pretty nice, as well as the 50mm f/1.4 lens, which isn't terribly expensive, or the Nikon D40X and the 50mm f/1.8 lens, which doesn't autofocus on the D40X. All of these cameras I'd be getting with the kit, because I wouldn't mind having a zoom lens as well. Money isn't a terribly issue, but I'd like to not spend THAT much. I need this camera to last me a long time and grow with me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

instead of the d40x you might consider the d50 or d70.

My uncle has a d70 and he likes it a lot, but someone down the hall from me has an XTi and I played around with it a bit and I thought it was great, especially with the 50mm lens on it.

since youre not too invested in nikon, it doesnt really make a difference what camera you buy. go use what you like, which menus you like more, which grip feel you like more. at the level of cameras you are looking at it does not make a difference.
