Photoshopping Portrait Photos Anonymous
Hey /p/,

A friend told me about some threads in /cgl/ that were photoshopping "miracles"... Is anyone here participating in that, or a better question is, does anyone here photoshop portrait photos into perfection?

I'm not so much interested in photoshopping to correct errors with the photography, but errors with the subject. Just curious.

Good job. The only thing is, her hands are still very... very chubby. Her right arm is still are a little eh, and the jawline looks very unnatural. Good work otherwise. :)

Even a blind person could tell that that shop is a piece of crap. If you are going to do something at least do it halfway. This shop was done using probably only the clone stamp tool. Mess around with it on a picture and in 30 seconds you can have something like this picture. Of course if you want something normal looking you would then have to clean it up. That part is up to you to figure out, because if you use the clone stamp like it was used in this picture, you will have lines like that going through the shopped areas. You want to keep the area being cloned different. Change it up every few clicks. I can completely remove a girl's top using photoshop and it looks at least 1000 times better than this. If you are going to do something that intricate, you are going to have to do shading and whatnot as well to make it look normal.

Why are there so many Photoshop threads on /p/ lately? This board isn't supposed to be about photoshop at all. Sure, there are some nice features to optimize pictures to simulate post processing in the program. But when you edit an image in photography, you really don't go and change what's there as in adjusting someone's bone structure. That's just not in the spirit of photography.

In this situation, the cosplayer exists. Whatever her features may be, this cannot be changed, but there are tricks were you can use to obtain a certain effect. You can make certain undesired features less noticeable with lighting and such, but they aren't changed at all (as they are in the OP's image).

I am sure that there are some people that optimize their potraits using Photoshop to perfection. But a bigger question is how this state of "perfection" is obtained.

If you are interested in removing "errors" in the subject, get a new subject. Find a subject that fits your definition of "perfection." That's all there is to it.

GB2/cgl/ unless you're interested in the photography aspect.

I started the Photoshop thread. The other 2 I did not.
I do shop some of my photography. Turn up the green or the reds, crop, levels, vignette. But I don't let it turn out so different is was nothing like what I photograph. I will also take the shine off a face if I see a shiny nose.

fixed the skin up a bit here.

Dude, you've got to keep things proportionate. She now has giant elephant forearms and hands compared to the rest of her.

I didn't do that part. I only smoothed out the skin. It did look a bit like a burn victim before.

no amount of photoshopping will do this hambeast justice. Just look at her elephantine hands and broad manly shoulders. Can't really shop that away unless you basically just replace her body with a different one (Adella lol)

Another slight difference from the original is the earrings, but I don't know if you care. lol
