i have an underwater p&s but its getting fixed atm the flash broke.. but im trying to get the pt-033 (40m underwater case) because it only has 3m depth and i dont trust that, its an olympus stylus mju 720sw i paid about $500 on ebay for the camera mini tripod case and san disk memory card about 2 years ago... but it takes pretty decent shots for a p&s its 7.1mp .. id say look around cos some of them are worth the money and especially if your near the beach,

scuba diver here.

The idea of taking my thousands of dollars of gear 100 feet underwater doesn't appeal to me.

Get a P&S with a case.

I got a Ewa-Marine for my DSLR. It works pretty well considering that it is an overpriced baggy.

They sell them in different sized depending on your camera and whether or not you want to use you flash. I got the larger one for my Canon 20D w/ a battery pack and shoe mounted flash. If I remember right it ran me 500-550 but I found it well worth it. I made it back selling one underwater photo. :)

The clamp is plastic so it is easy to break if you tighten it too much. It leaked little air bubbles after that but never let in water. I only used it for snorkeling, though, so the deepest I had it was no more that 40 ft. The lense centering piece didn't fit easily so when shooting at 10 (10-22 lense) I would get vignetting because I was never patient enough to put it in properly. I still haven't tested to see if I will fit perfectly.

Why the fuck would you do underwater with a Polar bear?

Awesome photo, OP. Full of win.

Disposable cameras can be one way to get into the underwater stuff cheap if you just want to try it out.
