Hello /p/,

You probably get this question a million times, but here it goes. I am looking to buy a camera for my trip to Japan (Not a weeaboo, I'm Japanese). I'm looking for something I can carry around in my pocket, and I'm not aiming to become a photographer or anything so anything that takes clear pictures will do. I'm hoping to spend as little money as I can so I can save it for other stuff, but know nothing of cameras. I was hoping you could help;

I'm looking at the Pentax Optio M20

and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35
http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/sony-cyber-shot-dsc/4505-6501_7-32312332.html?tag=prod.txt.1

but I have no idea if they're any good. Any advise?

go to www.dpreview.com, click on buying guide. Set your price to >$200, scroll down and set image stabilization to "Yes", scroll down and hit compare. I see about 6 cameras that are cheaper than the ones you list, and all have image stabilization for clearer pictures indoors and in low light.

I'll do that, I appreciate the help.

If I were in your shoes I would pick the Sony - In my experience, they've been more reliable, and having a rechargeable lithium battery has had a longer battery life than rechargeable Ni-MH.
Don't forget the memory card & carrying case, and since you're headed to Japan, plug adapters (if you decide on a camera w/Li-ion rechargeables)!
