Or stop down f/5.6 and 1/60s and try to get them both??? Hell, increase the ISO a stop and go to f/8.0.

Well, next time, turn the control dial to "Av" and set it to f/8.0. You had a chance to take multiple pictures, so you definitely had time to change the aperture.

Anyways, to answer your question, I suppose focusing on the person is better.
