Camera Shopping Anonymous
Hello /p/,
Hate to bother you, but I have a question. Friend of mine wants a camera for Christmas, and I have no idea which is a good one to buy (but I assumed you would). Could anyone give me a couple suggestions of what are good, affordable ($150-250 range), fairly small point and shoots are?

Pic possibly related?

What will your friend want to do with it? General snapshots, photography-as-photography, what?
>> Anonymous
Most likely just general snapshots, more focus on that than photography as photography.

panasonic/lumix is utter crap
potentially great machines ruined by terrible limitations and software.
get a canon.

Lumix are fine. Good performers, no less than Canon, Sony, Nikon etc.

If it's just snapshots, just grab one. Do make sure it's one of the more recent models.

Canon SD1000 always seems best bet.
Also, the Lumix I have sucks ass (FX07). Pictures don't even look like pictures sometimes.
