But to answer your question, to get better shots, look at better photos than yours. The real classics. Study composition, lighting, portraiture, all the creative aspects of photography. You're just NOT going to get a technically superb picture from your camera, either accept that or get a better camera. It doesn't stop you from making a well composed photo or one that tells an interesting story, though. You could even play to its strengths: small, unobtrusive, silent, huge depth of field, no one will think you're a professional photographer, etc. Go out and do some street photography, look for interesting juxtapositions or situations, shoot from the hip, etc.
