Telephoto Lenses Optical
I has a Nikon D200, thinking of getting a telephoto lens. Any suggestions /p/?

70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor
or
400mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S II Nikkor
or
??
>> I advise a bigma Luke
I have a bigma myself which I like a lot. Reports go that the 120-300 2.8 lense by sigma is a lot better, though, but costs more as well. What is your current lense equipment? And what is your budget?

Current equipment:

10.5mm /2.8 nikkor
50mm /1.8 nikkor
17-55mm /2.8 nikkor

Thinking of two more lenses then I should be good for a while. the 105mm micro VR & one telephoto lens. Budget is within reasonable range(quality, you get what you pay for)

wait, do you mean a Sigma Lens? Never heard of Bigma.

Bigma = nickname for Sigma 50-500.

a 70-200mm zoom and 400mm fixed are used for pretty different purposes right? I'd say the 70-200 is way more versatile for normal use, especially seeing you have no other tele lenses.

Do you shit money or something? The 400mm f2.8 is ridiculously expensive.

Also if you do shit money, I would Get the 70-200 AND a 300mm f2.8 + a 1.4x TC14e

IF you don't shit money, then get a Used 80-200 Af-d, and a 1.4x teleconvertor, Will only cost you like 800$

Lol, no I do not shit money, always liked stashing money for gadgets. I actually never looked up the price for 400mm, hmm must be a shitload...(holyshit just checked it). May I ask why 70-200mm & 300mm together?

Also how often do /p/folks change their lenses out in the field when photographing?

I change mine all the time, but I'm a prime junkie.

(I now have dust on my XTi's sensor. Sigh. Only shows up when I go to f/22 or so, though)
