I'm really enjoying setting up my figure macro shots. Yes I am a huge fag.

out of focus broom and shoes don't look nice

I've seen some nice things done with figures, so whatever floats your boat. As long as the photo is well done I doubt many photographers would look down on it.

Depth of field thing. I could probably fix it with some tweaking of the shot. Could end up with a boring and clinical shot like they do for the figure adverts though. Anyhow. I quite like a bit of DOF.
>> Anonymous
>>83802
the problem in this case though is it is a very large area that distracts the eye.
>> Anonymous
>>83798
I want that Jo /fig/. As soon as you pull in close on a wide angle macro shot you tend to get DOF issues. Even on yours I see the ends of the guns tend to go out of focus.
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
Difficult to avoid. I wanted to get a nice angle on the /fig/. This one does not have the DOF issue but is not as pleasing to my eye.

DOF on macros is a fact of life unless you get a macro type diopter that has a shallow DOF. Anyhow. Have some pantsu and shut the fuck up.

yeah but its not at a point in the photo that is as distracting. im not saying shallow DoF is bad, just the placement is bad.
>> Anonymous
You could shoot 2 or more images with different DOF and combine. Or use a smaller aperture.

I actually really love these two, they're awesome.

>>83795
This one also.

I'd have to tripod the shot. Also to get the shots I had to open the exposure right up and it was still a little dark. I could up the ISO but that introduces noise. Closing the aperture would make it even darker. I am using a 150w equivalent daylight fluorescent bulb from the front behind a diffuser (Tarcing paper over a box), a 60w equiv daylight fluorescent bulb from above and a kitchen foil reflector. Getting enough light is always a challenge for these types of shots. Especially on a dark background. I am happy with the shot as it is. But critique is always welcome as long as you are not just being a 4chan asshole for the sake of it ;)

I was proud of how well my EVA01 XS-03 shots came out. The red background really surprised me on how well it complimented the figure.

Yes that is the other thing I could do. I would need to tripod the shots though and switch to manual mode.
>> Anonymous
>>83824
yep. you should have a tripod.
>> Anonymous
>>83826
I dislike tripods even for these types of shots because it makes it harder to get in for unusual angle shots. Even with those mini tripods. What I may try is a big lump of Blu Tack on the table to help angle it upwards and fit the camera then set a long exposure and take the photo on timer avoiding any shake caused by me. Otherwise a tripod is fine for a pulled back shot next to the table I guess.

post some of these unusual angles

These pics fucking suck. Granted, they're good for practicing and shit, but not something you should show to others. Trying leaving your house sometime.

standard issue suburb fence #239 does not do well for a backdrop, especially considering the subject matter

Find a cool background like a barren desert or snow or something.

Then MAKE it, now! It doesn't have to be big to look good. Just find something that looks remotely like stone and cacti and make sure they're out of focus.

OK and a big FUCK YOU TOO! This is just practice and I wanted to show off the figures without too much distracting backgrounds. I will fuck around with some setup backgrounds later if I want to make some themed nonsense. Print out some shitty urban backdrop and place behind figure for instant cheapness lol. When it gets some good light again I may shoot on my flat rooftop against an urban scene. You guys are harsh but I didn't expect anything else from here really. I know where I am ;)
