the letters were lit up, so they continued to expose the photo, whereas the car was just a quick flash and only exposed for a moment... someone else could explain this better

Is it anything special? No.

Taking pictures like this might amuse you for a little while, but that's about it.

You don't have to be rich to take good pictures, but you do have to try.

why do you have to try? i think there's un appreciated beauty in random, chaos is pure, it's unadultered and it's as close to perfect as possible.

like this picture, I just felt this urge to point the camera up and shoot, right at the perfect momment to catch this dragonfly(lucky this camera is oddly good at motion pictures)

it just wouldn't be the same if i set it up, waited for the correct lighting, set the right exposure, maybe checked the backdrop a bit etc.

sure, but whats the point of photography if its just random snaps? if everyone closed their eyes and ran around a field would you call it a sport?

it doesnt matter if someoen took it eyes closed randomly or spent hours setting something up in a studio with carefully controlled lighting.

if you like looking at an image, that's all that matters.

ah well, each to their own!

But if you take it eyes closed, how can you be looking at an image. WTF mate?

most sports seem to be a bunch of people running around on a field with their eyes closed.

If anything, you might get some neat effects, which you can learn to do on purpose to bring up the overall level of your pictures.
Yeah, sometimes you barely have time to take the picture, like with that dragonfly, but if you watched it a little, after your snapshot, maybe you'd find a much better picture. One where the dragonfly actually shows a little color, instead of being exposed against the sky.
