Hay /p/
I'm moving up from a Fuji S5100 to a D80 and I need some advice on lenses. I shoot mostly nature, and especially love macro shots. I was thinking about one of these two packages:
http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/SLR1147.htm
and then getting a zoom lens separate (not sure which one, though. need input on that)
or
http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/SLR1178.htm

My budget is 2 grand, TOPS, and I still need to buy a remote trigger, monopod, and memory card. So keep that in mind. What lenses would /p/ recommend me?

Picture unrelated. Just a flubbed shot.

Disclaimer: I'm a canonfag.

You're full of shit. Modern Nikons like the D80 are comparable pricewise and noisewise to their Canon counterparts. The D80 is cheaper than the 40D.

Now see what you goons started?
Back to the question at hand:
Zoom lens recommendations for the D80 body that fit my budget.

Well what you could do is just buy the body for less, then look into the Tamron 18-250 for your all-around zoom, and a maybe nice prime or two. Maybe something like the Nikkor 35mm f/2.

Super zooms like that are nearly always made for morons. Don't buy them.

Dude, the 18-250 is really good glass for what you pay, and the convenience of one lens to cover that range of focal lengths is great for travel. Though I agree it isn't as sharp as any prime I've tried, it's great for not having to change out lenses constantly (especially when out in the rain or snow).
