Hay /p/. (sorry if this double posts, 4chan's servers are fail today and keep giving me errors)

Two weekends ago, I took photos of a coworker of mine (pic related) and now i've somehow managed to book myself 7 different model shoots over the next 3 months (all her friends plus some more potentials) and the models are excited and more than willing to pay me without any hesitation at all.

They're all aware I use film and will not be using digital. I have complete creative freedom in terms of dictating how many outfits, when, what time and what site we will be photographing at.

So my question is this- what type of film would /p/ recommend I use? Any sample potraits with said film would be appreciated. Everything will be outside, no indoor photo shoots (they already have those and are tired of them).

I already have a money amount in mind that i'm not going to mention until later, but how much is a good amount?

Said photos will not be posted on /s/, so you'll have to find your entertainment somewhere else ;)

Thanks, got myself into something crazy I think. They don't want indoor shots (which is good) and they WANT me to use film, which is also a bonus.
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms
Sounds like as ideal an oppurtunity as you could hope for. Just try not to burn out on it.

have you tried astia like i suggested in the other thread yet? it's designed for portraits.

not yet, but will do so when I go to do another model shoot with the model pictures in the OP. It's on my list of things to pick up :)

Dammit! I want attractive women to line up to be photographed by me.

Recommendation: Since you can dictate outfits, outlaw empire waists. ;)

I don't really have any film recommendations. I've liked how the portraits I've done have looked on all of the different films I've used (Kodak BW400cn, Delta 3200, various color negative films) but in completely different ways. Mostly, I just totally have a hardon for my own pictures because I'm an egotistical asshole.

What's wrong with empire waist dresses?
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms

Running joke from Liska's flickr, where she has more of the set: a few of us hate empire waists. They make any girl wearing one look pregnant, and if you aren't pregnant, it's a very unflattering effect. Formless and blobby. It looks pretty good on this model, but I'm of the opinion that she has the kind of sexiness that would make almost anything look good.

What elf_man said.

I like hips. I like curves. I like clothing that doesn't make the woman look like a sack of potatoes.

i recommend 3 films,
Kodak Portra 160N or VC for your colour print, depends on how you want her skin to look (if your a fuji fan, NPS is ok too, but from my experience Portra makes for better skin tones).
And for your chrome, ONLY use Fuji Astia, never ever velvia and to a lesser extent, Provia.
and if you want to adventure into B&W, try and find some Fuji Neopan, its got a smoother contrast than most other B&W films.
For model shoots, smooth contrasts, light saturations and accurate colours are key.

It all depends on the cut of the dress and the woman's body. There's a big difference between these chubby girls one sees who buy a slightly oversize empire waist dress because they think it makes them look less fat, and a girl who actually buys one that's a proper fit. In the latter case, it'll actually give a subtle accent to the hips if she's got wide ones.

What, would you rather women all just wore tiny halter tops and those soffee shorts?

That's my opinion on one piece of clothing. It wouldn't surprise me if there are a couple exceptions to the rule walking around.
And I don't care for those either, that shit's just as bad in its own way. I also can't stand those extra wide leather belts or the white pleated skirts that a lot of girls are wearing, either. I've seen a couple girls here and there that they actually look right on, but it's rare too.

I was really just speaking about those dresses in general. Like I said, I like the picture and I think the dress works in it. Just not to my taste so much.

this is why i hate the internet. jesus, is there anything you guys won't argue about?
>> Anonymous
>>79762
Yes. Here's a few:

- The Lomography Society is a scam.
- 50/1.x fapfapfapfapfapfap
- Needs more lens flare.
- MySpace shots should GTFO.

Among other things.

oh, i guess you're right. okay, i feel better now.

still, arguing about the waistline of dresses that men are completely ineligible to wear? BULLSHIT.

>>79775
who says men cant wear it?
>> elf_man !fBgo7jDjms
>>79775
It wasn't an argument. I filled him in on what was going on, he asked for clarification, I responded with enough detail to hopefully avoid more questions. That's it.

Seconded, neopan is a great film. A friend of mine works at a kodak store and was ready to throw out a few unsold rolls and I went "Thank you! Mine!"
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
>>79782

ohh that sounds fun.

and i dunno why the fashion debate started,. but it did. The model looked at the flickr comments and went 'HUH?'

For B&W, Ilford Delta 100 is simply beautiful. Amazingly finegrained, and the depth of tonality is just... wow.

For color slides, can't go wrong with Astia. Very nice skin tones.

...I blame ac. He started it. Yeah, that's right.
>> Thumper !VFtk2VroH6
So were you planning on doing the majority of the shots in B&W or colour? Or a mix of both?

>still, arguing about the waistline of dresses that men are completely ineligible to wear? BULLSHIT.

How so? It's an argument on aesthetics, just like arguing over whether some photograph is good or not.
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j

mix of both, depending on what the model was specifically looking for (planning on speaking with them before the shoot). If they aren't comfortable enough in front of the camera, then i'm not going through with that session
