Hey guys, I couldn't find anything in a quick Google search so I figured I would ask here since I don't know much about either of these mounts.

I know it's possible to adapt an LTM/screwmount lens to an M-mount body, I'm just curious if there is any adapter made to mount an M lens to an LTM/screwmount body? As far as I know there isn't, but does anyone know for sure? Serenar? The flange to film plane length difference would make it impossible (or impossible without extensive modification to the body, lens or both..), wouldn't it?

Just curious...self sage for gear thread. Pic...inversely related?

It's a R, so LTM. The T, R2 and up are the M models.

I should be fine for a while with LTM, I was just curious if it was possible since I know LTM can be mounted to M. That's what I thought though, thanks.

I know it's impossible, but not from personal experience. The adapter I have doesn't seem to change film to flange distance any - it just adds bayonet blades to the side of the mount. Maybe it's a matter of diameter too? Or it could be the film/flange distance and I just haven't noted the miniscule difference.

Before anyone says I got a bad adapter, it's a Voigtlander.

Film-flange distance between LTM and M mount is very close if not the same, but as you noticed the diameter is different. The M mount is substantially larger than LTM, so it would be impossible to adapt it without a whole lot of doing.

Your best bet, if you really want to use M-mount lenses, is to watch ebay and pick up a beater M2 or M3, or a Bessa R2 if you can find one for a decent price. Leitz CL or a Konica Hexar RF would also be decent options.

There are a whole lot of options in LTM though. Voigtlander makes or has recently made a bunch of fantastic lenses, and while the old Leitz lenses may not be up to par with their modern counterparts, they're still very good lenses and can usually be had relatively inexpensively. Most M lenses will run you an arm, leg, and your first born.

Pic sort of related. A voigtlander 15mm Heliar, one of the most awesome lenses ever made, next to a Sigma 14mm f/2.8. This is why rangefinders are awesome.

That's also f/2.8 versus f/4.5.

It doesn't really matter, it would still be a far smaller lens.
