Afternoon /p/,
Would you say a beginner would be able to learn photography with a d300?

You need at least D3.

D300 is the poin 'n shoot of the DSLR world. I'm going with>>237763
On this one.

In fact, you should wait a bit longer for the D3x. The D3 is rather old already.

So you would recommend a D3 for someone practically started photography this year?

Yeah, but only if you're on a budget. Ideally you'd shoot for the Hasselblad H3D.

Sure, why not, but it's a shit load of money to spend on a body. I'd recommend cheaper body and good lenses. Perhaps D60 + VR kit lens, then read, learn post work and shoot like crazy and after 6 months or so you start to see what other lenses you need. If you can't get good shots with lower end body then D300 isn't going to help you.

Cheaper bodies are perfectly capable for most things. Fast sports, birding etc. is the only area where their AF system and fps may fail you.

Look, fuck off if you're not prepared to go the whole way into photography. Does anyone try and play polo with a broomstick?

Photography got ruined when the unwashed masses started showing up.
