Hey /p/,

I want to get a new digital camera, but I don't have enough money to buy a high end $1500 dollar camera with all the trimmings. Looking to spend 250 Max.

tl;dr - Good camera yet affordable.

Do your own research bitch.

Canon Powershot A650 IS Or other powershot A-series. Best P&S series in your budget IMO, and you can run chdk on them and do all kinds of cool shit.

I'm in a very similiar position to you but my budget is around $350 tops. I'm currently completely stuck between going with the A650 IS for the flip around LCD, movie mode and CHDK, and buying some cheap FD mount lenses for my old old canon film SLR for SLR experience..

-OR-

..Maxing out my budget and getting a used digital rebel XT and the cheap (~$80) 50mm f/1.8 II lens. Its a really hard decision. I was thinking of making a thread but ill just use this one. Anything anybody can contribute to possibly make my decision easier would be greatly appreciated.

50/1.8 is a terrible lens to have as your one and only lens on a crop sensor.

You can probably score a used 18-55 for that price on eBay.

Crappy kit lenses go almost for free, if youre "lucky" enough to find one used.

don't spend $250. don't spend $300. don't spend $200. it won't be worth even half that much in a year. you're basically throwing your money away.

canon a570 is, 150 bucks. /thread.
