Check out what's going on in my neighbor's backyard right now. I don't feel bad for him, he's a rich motherfucker who probably just did something stupid while grilling. And yeah there's firetrucks and everything.
Sorry for auto-mode. I took others in manual but they came out too dark. Do have more photos but this one was best.

One the dark ones. Also, better when seen full-size of course.

to be honest, none of these are worth posting.

right, because only professional photos are posted in this shithole
to be honest, your trolling isn't worth reply to

First pick was thoughtfully composed IMO.
If I failed, that's the real issue. But don't give me shit about not even trying. Actually I used to take some very good pictures but the harder I try and more I learn the worse they seem to get, so I've basically given up.

know what? Fuck it. I'm going back to being butthurt and never taking photos again because I'm sick of failing when I used to actually be good.
Thanks for reminding me how much I suck ass.

>>190025
im guessing when you thought you were good it was just that. YOU -THOUGHT- you were good. thats why people post pictures for crit, so they can get other peoples opinions on it.

1. If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough."- Robert Capa. Back away from the tele end of the zoom, stick to normal or wide, medium tele at the most and get closer. There's firefighters? I want to see them. Flames? Those, too.

3. If you live next to a rich fucker, chances are you're a rich fucker, too (lol property values and insular communities). If not, your parents are and you're living with them. Probably the latter, actually.

And fuck me, I can't count.

"UR PICS SUK" isn't what I'd call actual criticism

>>190028
Thanks. I got as close as I could without getting in their way. Not like I'm with a news team or something. I looked for flames but I couldn't actually see them. I don't know how long they had been battling the fire but it was all over in an hour after I took the pics. The families even back in their house like nothing happened.

As for the rich part, I live in what was once a rural backwoods neighborhood and is now overrun with mansions built in a month where the woods used to be. Sure, my families house is more valuable, but only if we sell it. Until then our property taxes are considerably higher.
Not all is as it appears. I wouldn't mind if all their houses burned down as long as mine was untouched.

I think you need to choose your subjects better. If these is the first shots in a while you think are worth posting, my guess is that you were waiting quite a long time for something interesting to snap at. I suggest you take your camera out for a long walk or two, wherever, whenever, and look for new ways of looking at the everyday stuff all around you. Then photograph them. Keep going until you have something you're really proud of.

And relax! Quit worrying about all the stuff you've read and enjoy yourself. You're a hobbyist, FFS. Unless you're already a pro, in which case it's time to find a new job.

I've been doing that for years and I was doing fine until I tried to step it up to MORE interesting subjects besides flowers and birds and lakes and sunsets.
Here's an old photo from back when I was beginning. Back when I used to be somewhat good ;_;
And I don't want to pursue it as a career, but as a graphic designer it'll sure help to be a good photographer.

There is no such thing as "back when i was good"

Also, that photo isn't very good.

So in other words I was never good and everyone was lying to me and you're right.
Thanks for showing me the light. This is definitely the last time I come here for advice.
Also, lastly, I have actually posted pics here before in other threads where people actually responded that they liked them. But that was back when this place was better I suppose.
Anyhow, have another photo of mine that apparently sucks ass. Really, I do think I'm going to give up on photography in general, but I'll keep taking pictures on the rare occasion something interesting comes along.

I had a feeling this was you, from the camera and just a general feeling.

You're not bad. These particular shots you posted here are, but the stuff you posted before was great.

Don't listen to him. People go through creative funks. It's normal.

It doesn't help that I just don't see anything wrong with the photos I made this thread with. I mean, they're local smalltime newspaper worthy to me.
