Which one uses AA batteries?
Don't all DSLRs come with rechargeables?
>> Anonymous
That's it, I'm selling my Nikon gear and buying a Pentax.

No. Pentax DSLRs use AAs.
>> Anonymous
As much as I love Pentax and the K10D, I would really have to question testing methodology that would yield results as different as these.

Was the wind blowing? Were the cameras tripod-mounted with mirror lock-up? Focussed on the same object? Was the Canon’s lens faulty? I think it is pretty safe to say that the Canon with that lens can render this scene better than this; there has to be a hardware defect, photographer error, or environmental disturbance at work here.

The DA 16-45 is a very good consumer upgrade lens, and while it is a stop slower than the Canon L-glass, I would expect reasonably comparable results at F/8. There should also be a minor depth-of-field advantage for the Pentax’s somewhat smaller sensor, but probably not enough to cause this drastic a difference in the image at F/8 unless the focus point was substantially different.

What I take out of this is a reminder that any modern SLR body can compete with the big boys and it largely remains the photographer’s responsibility to yield optimal results.

No they don't.
I have a Pentax K10D and a Canon EOS 10D and they use almost identical rechargeable batteries.

Nice copy-pasta, fag.

The biggest question here is what were the image parameters? Were both cameras on jpeg with no sharpening or saturation? What about RAW vs RAW?

Huh!
I didn't know that the K100D/K200D took AA batteries.
I don't know if that's cool or lame...

The only camera I've ever had that took AAs was a P-p-p-p-p-powershot!

I can't describe the number of times Ive been thankful my k100d doesn't use proprietary rechargeable batteries. If I run out, I can pop in a gas station. Also, learn to use rechargeable AA batteries. Same or longer run time as the rechargeable included with a canon/nikon, except you don't get jewed if it runs out and you don't have your special little charger.

I thnk a lot of people are biased against AA batteries because consumer-grade rechargeable AAs used to suck donkey balls.

I own the batteries you posted and they are actually hella good and last forever. I'd say that they last longer in my Powershot than my rechargeable does in my Canon, for sure.

I just wish flashes didn't run on them. So much easier to load a battery pack than fumble with 4 AAs.
>> fohdeesha !!Dcn0dXtb8BN
>>198738
Please explain why.

(lol you can''t because they are better. enjoy running out of battery and not being able to pick up some more. also, I get longer run times than my buddies canon)

You see, this is why pentax wins so much yet nobody realizes it. They use logic that the average person is too retarded to acknowledge, so they get confused and recoil. (nikon users)

typical canikon faggot. Can't answer a question or explain his logic, just tries to insult.

Ill give you one more chance. Why do AA batteries fail?

Battery grips take Li-ion batteries and AA batteries, so you have the best of both worlds.

That's why pentax's other bodies run off battery packs?
>> $19.99 !OSYhGye6hY

Because AAs they're not as convenient as one battery pack. Also, you feel like you're loading a pistol when you're sliding a battery pack in, makes your spine tingle.

I love sliding batterys into my SB600, your correct when you say it feels like loading a gun. :3

you can put it in slave mode so the AF lamp flashes every second so it's a makeshift laser sight

then you can fire it and have the recharging sound like night vision goggles

fuck yeah

Don't forget about excessive vignetting with the MarkIII. Read all about that little "feature" in AP.

"Full-frame DSLR users have no such luxury, and the sensor in the 1Ds Mark III is far less forgiving than either 35mm film or APS-C format media.

I used a range of lenses for this test – most of them L-series zooms and fixed focal length primes. Wide open, some fringing around bright areas is visible using all of them, and vignetting is a factor at or near full aperture, but once closed down by a stop the effect is greatly reduced and sharpness increased to the point where I am more than satisfied with the overall image quality."

But you can forgive that shit, what, with the camera only costing 8 grand.

AGAINST:Expensive glassware required for best results. Vignetting
and fringing visible with most lenses at wide apertures, noise visible in images at all ISO sensitivity settings

I get all this for $8,000??? WHERE DO I SIGN UP?!

1. This is what happens when you overload pixels. APS-C should be somewhere between 6-8, ~1.3 crops should be around 10, and 36x24mm (full frame) should be around twelve. That seems to give the best results.

2. Noise doesn't really matter too much, but if the light fall-off is severe (I've never shot with a 1Ds Mk. anything, but I have shot some with a 5D and had no complaints in that department) then that would be a problem.

No, I don't shoot Nikon. I do think the D3 is the best fulfillment of the "full-frame" concept to date, technically speaking. But Nikon's about to go and make the same mistake Canon did, except worse, with a 36x24mm 24 megapixel sensor in some D3x thing.

I also think crop sensors are better for most users, myself included, for the potential for smaller lenses (autofocus SLR lenses are huge, anything that makes them smaller gets my vote) and better results from lenses designed for 36x24mm
