Hi /p/. How is a Voigtlander Bessa R? Is it any good of a camera?
>> Anonymous
No, it's no good of a camera. It's totally terrible, the shutter doesn't even close all the way and you need an impact wrench to turn the dials. Plus it takes 33.5mm film so you have to cut it yourself.

...come on. It's a fine camera. If people can take pictures they think are fine with a holga, you can definitely take nice pics with a Bessa. Voigtlander also makes great lenses in that mount.

IMO best value in new 35mm rangefinders. They're very well designed, and Voigtlander (Cosina) also makes a range of excellent lenses. You can also put Leica glass on there...

The R is a good camera, but any of the later R models (R2, R3, R4) are quite a bit better. They improved the shutter reliability, switched to the Leica M mount instead of screw mount (you can use screw mount lenses on M cameras, but not vice versa) and went to a much sturdier body. It's a great camera if it's all you can afford, but if you can afford the R2 go for it.

Voigtlander Bessa R is a pretty cool guy. Eh mounts Leica screw-mount lenses and doesn't afraid of anything.

Id love to get the 250th Voigtlander anniversary edition of R2M with 50/2 heliar.

R2A > R2M

for the same reason why Nikon FE > Nikon FM

I agree with this, the R is a good value camera with good quality lenses as well as cheap glass around.

You also have a better upgrade path with a later Bessa combined with the better build quality, saying that i've had my bessa R for a few years and it is fine

And whats that reason?

It does everything the R2M does, plus it has an aperture-priority automatic mode for the times when you don't feel like being a manualfag.

Id rather own camera that is manual and works even when the battery is dead than use one that has aperture priority.

Big fucking deal, the batteries in these last forever, and they are so small you can tape a couple spare ones to the inside of the case.

The Bessa R is a great camera and fantastically cheap when compared to the similar Leicas. If you've got the available dough, the R2 has a much stronger chassis and you can mount both M-mount lenses and LTM lenses w/ an adapter.

Thanks guise. I might up my bid on this :D
