My B&H order finally came in today! The 40D is an incredible camera and just in the first day it has absolutely blown me away. The huge, bright screen and viewfinder is such an upgrade from the Rebel XT!

The Pelican 1500 fits everything perfectly, though I wish I had gotten a larger case to accommodate future lenses.

On the wishlist:
Sigma 10-20
EF 70-200 f4
A second battery for the 40D grip
Lock for the case
UV and IR filters for the 17-40
190XPROB with 486RC2 Head (RIP $15 walmart tripod)

forget that uv and ir filter crap and get a polar filter and a grey filter. much more useful.
uv filter is worth nothing expect if ur lens falls down maybe.

If you're going to pay that much for a bigass case storing so little gear maybe getting a nice (overpriced) Billingham would be better? I thought the point of a Pelican was to store epic amounts of gear that have to be checked in/tossed in a van.

quite, we use pelli's for storing rifles in.

not that we'd drop them anyway.

Not important, I haven't talked to my parents in over a year. I'm twenty by the way, most of my money comes from my day job at an office, the rest from photography jobs and "resale". Also, student loans, though most of those go towards school. It's really not that difficult to make $3,000 a month if you try.

why didnt you store the cam standing up with the battery grip off?

that way youll have way more room and it wont be able to move around like it will now...

Dunno. I didn't like the idea of having to attach the grip every time I wanted to use the camera, though I think size-wise it wouldn't take up that much less room.

Mate, congrats on the camera! Got one myself recently and am loving it! Would love the battery grip but its pretty expensive and bought a Wii instead ^^

Wll you use that case just for when you travel? If not, is it comfortable to carry?

Anyhow, ignore the idiots on this thread, theres a fair few decent posters on /p/ who outweigh the morons, unusual for 4ch!
