the differences... thefamilyman !ozOtJW9BFA
Thought i would show some ppl the differences between Colour, IR, unprocessed IR and B&W pics for the ones who haven't seen them before.

nothing special about these, but just want to let some ppl see who are interested.

This is the first pic, a nothing special colour picture, just for reference.

this one is an unprocessed IR pic.
notice how it is, well, red.
the filter i was using is a popular Hoya R72 filter. Its a deep red glass filter, almost impossible to see though.

now is the the IR pic as before, but changed to greyscale and level adjusted to make it more clear. i also did a small amount of dodging and burning in a few places.

I really like this one, nice effect. Though maybe it need a little bit more sharpness to it, other that that it's in my opinion really great shot.

yes, your right.
main issue is that with the IR filter on, you cannot see anything though the viewfinder, it is hard to focus because the focus changes slightly when the filter is used. Some lenses have an IR focus compensation indicator on the scale, but the lens i was using didn't have one, so the picture is most properly out of focus rather than not been sharp.

Interesting, didn't tought about that, though maybe you can improve it in postprocessing?

a simple 'Sharpen' in Photoshop seems to make a difference

I would've sharpened it using High Pass in photoshop. You'll get sharp edges, without sharpening as much noise. I'm being picky, and I must say, It is a fine quality photo indeed. Thanks
