>> Anonymous
>>300779
The 5D's resolution isn't that impressive, *just* twelve megapixels. Resolution won't do shit for appreciating it here.

What it does deliver over and above the average PS-C camera is tonality, low noise, etc., other image quality characteristics you can see at any size. Plus, these are all at ISO 100 or even 50. Even cameras with small sensors do well at those speeds.

TL;DR the 5D delivers great image quality, but a 100% crop of the original files of the images $19.99 posted here will do shit all for appreciating it more.

You're right about the 85mm 1.8, but I don't have the money for the 24 1.4 or the 24-70mm 2.8, I used the cheapo $160 24mm 2.8 on these.

>>300779
>a 100% crop from the face area, to see what a 5D is really able to deliver?
I'm not sure it's so much the camera that delivers the sharpness, it's probably just because the 85mm 1.8 is stupidly awesome. But it's not really *that* sharp Mr. Pixel Peeper. I was shooting wide open on the lens too.

it's generally assumed that no-one on here is perfect at photography, (even just held up to technical and compositional standards)
adding in artistic taste or emotional appeal or any other criteria and you would guarantee nothing on here is acceptable.
However, its really easy to be critical of someone elses work, and takes far less skill to point out what you consider errors.

Because of this its easy to criticize and often happens, when the criticism is not constructive it gives the impression that anonymous dislikes it so much that it shouldn't even be considered "decent"

This is ok for crappy pictures, but for otherwise good shots its treated as sort of an attack.

Having pictures to prove you have some photographic talent or merit, to put down these pictures, helps us to believe you are not just a flamer.

I have some trouble with your logic, does anyone ask an art or film critic to put up their own work that's better? Unless you're Uwe Bowle, I think not. Point is, you don't have to be a master of the art to actually know whats good and what isn't, you just need to understand it.

In regards to OP, while I wouldn't say the pictures are amazing, they are pretty good.(I promise I don't mean that negatively) My only problem is how unnatural the girl looks in some shots and her nose ring, though the latter is purely personal taste.
