Hopefully. At the very least I'm going to bring a tripod with me next time I go to the place where I shot that to prevent all the vertical movement. That, and figure out how to set my camera so that I'm not getting any differences in exposure between images.

havent seen it get capped yet either...

quick tip: try metering off the sky? has given me good results for my recent panos.
though if vincent says anything oh'contrair to that, take his word for it obviously ;)

what are you using r.e pano maker programs?
im using arcsoft pano maker, its ok, seems to do a nice job blending the imperfections in metering but not the best at joining between shots....

I've got a PDF of the thread. If I remember, I'll dig it up tomorrow when I get home.

Here's one. Sorry about the quality and filesize. Even after cropping out the useless shit towards the end of the thread, I still had to resize it for the board

Well I hadn't ever done anything with panos before, so I was first gonna try it by hand, which turned out shitty, just downloaded PTgui though, and it looks like it's doing a pretty good job. Going back today and gonna bring my tripod, hopefully won't mess it up as much. My camera is a 1.6 crop and my widest current lens until I get some money to buy a wide is a 45mm (after factoring the crop), so I'm guessing I'm going to have to take a shitload of pictures for it to turn out properly.

Just tried out PTgui's demo, aside from my exposure errors it did a pretty good job of stitching. Depending on how much it is I may just buy it.

Why not just do it yourself in Photoshop?
Line all the images up with sufficient overlap (change the opacity so you can see through the images to make sure they're lined up correctly), then erase the edges with a feathered eraser.

It's not that hard, though I suppose if you're planning on doing a lot of panoramas the software is probably worth it. Or if the software is cheap.

this thread reeks of viral marketing

I had tried that in photoshop first, but correcting the lens distortion around the edges for every single picture and then checking, rechecking, and doing micro edits would take far too long to be worth it.

Of course, if the software is expensive, then I'm just going to end up doing it myself and make sure I REALLY want a specific pano.

I think you forget almost no-one pays for anything they get on the internet.
