I feel so pissed at myself for missing the top of her head. Any tips for shooting girls at conventions? And I could really use a 50mm f/1.8. Sucks being a poorfag.

And the cars are too easy. Whole place is set up like a studio anyway. Great high and low pass lighting everywhere and at the right angles.

I Wouldn't go any lower than 9mm, I'd prefer .45 though. Also, make sure You're close enough to get a good shot. If you can't see her face from where you're from then just forget it.

Subsonic rounds with a suppressor will make you very hard to notice unless you pull out your piece in the middle of a crowd.

if you bring a tripod, and they have one of those turntable things, you can get a shot like this. not mine btw

So did you steal your D80 kit?

get a better lens.
>> Celotil !AN26.8FkH6
OP, remember, it's a digital camera so take as many photos as possible, they're not going to cost anything extra if you don't like them.

I do this everywhere. If I see something I want a picture of I'll take anywhere up to ten photos, normal modes, and even more in Sports mode.

It's very rare that you'll get a perfect shot with just one photo. Think about any time you've ever seen professionals taking photos. They take HEAPS, and then cherry-pick the best ones later.

I, err, bought a D80 body (after saving up for months) and borrowed a 28-80 f/3.5-5.6. It's the Nikon F60 kitlens. I'll be getting the 50mm f/1.8 maybe by Christmas. Sigh...

>>241289
I suppose but I grew as a photographer with film before I got my D80 (it's less than 2000 actuations old) so I'm trying to get used to the idea of disposal shots (and to the smaller viewfinder and settings). I also only have three 1GB which is about 80 shots each so I was kinda conservative. I'll be getting a better lens before a new/more cards though. Quality over quantity after all.

I'm not a pro, and on my S5 that "hold down button and let camera click-click-click away" is called Sports Mode. I call everything else Normal mode because that's typically how cameras are used by everyone, set up shot, take one picture.

>>241343

Only 80 pictures in 1GB? Dude, lower the megapixels and choose something other than SuperFine. :)

On a 2GB SD card I can fit just over 560 8MP Superfine pics.

Err, that's 80 RAW + Basic Small Jpeg. 82 if it's just RAW alone so I keep the jpeg for thumbnails. Don't tell me you don't shoot raw.
>> Anonymous
Oh right, the S5 has no RAW.
>> Macheath !8b4g0BkNZg

Yeah, I was gonna say you could do it Mossad style with .22LR

it can shoot cr2 with hacked firmware.

You could probably get away with cropping off a little more of her head, but just the very top makes it look like a mistake.

For that being a scale down of a high res RAW, it looks horrible. If the lens allows, open the aperture up more and reduce the ISO. 1600 is *bad* with digital, especially Nikon from what I hear (though never tried). Unfortunately, 1/40 is is too slow for reliable hand held, and you camera movement on top of the massive noise.

You could use off camera flash, on camera flash with a good diffuser, or a ring flash to help with that as your next purchase after the lens.

OP

I found your Flikcr page from the HDR bashing thread.

If you read around online (photo.net is a good place to start), you can find recipes for making your own processing chemistry from scratch, and that will make it much cheaper in the long run. You can also get by with a dark closet if you just want to process 35mm film in a daylight processing tank, and the scan the images. Saves a ton of cash over an enlarger, full darkroom, and fiber paper (no use going through all that trouble for RC).
