Opinions ...im using the lens that comes with a rebel xti im very very new to photography what would be a good type of lens to buy.My main focus is landscapes.

A good zoom lens would do you wonders. Plus if your outside you don't need a low f stop but that's only if its sunny out. i would say a 55-250 IS lens should do you well. I got mine for 230 bucks.

no problem, the cheapest place to look is amazon. the 55-250 has glass that reduces chromatic abrasions. when you do landscape photography you'll encounter it a lot. you can fix it in photoshop but you know, might as well just fix the problem before hand.
