A wheelchair may actually be useful for photography, attach a stand and head to it and you have no need for a tripod. You'll also get sympathy leading to less hassle when taking photos in public pklaces.

There are whiny cunts whining about how someone is holding their cameras, others whining about someone in a wheelchair doing what he wants to do.
Instead of listening to some failed photographer turned teacher, get your pathetic asses out there and do what they have done, develop their own technique....
oh wait.... you have to be creative to do that....
never mind.

i took my 50D w/ me, but i felt like a fucking sheep walking around with it. i later put it back in the car. i got the G9 for every day use. i used to take my DSLR everywhere, but the G9 is in most situations just as good.

some chick at the con who was sat next to me was talking to her friend about buying a Sony DSLR. i Ken Rockwell'd her ass and she went to get a Canon.

fyi, PC is b0rk so i just converted the pics from raw and resized them

Morons. If you greasy neckbeards ever left the basement to make some photographs with your cameras then you'd know something about proper techniques. You're too stupid to understand what's going on though, so I doubt there is any hope for you ever learning or producing anything worth while.

Can you please explain why someone would go through the awkwardness of using a horrible tiny optical viewfinder or a small EVF that does the same thing as your main LCD on a point-and-shoot or are you just trolling?

Plus it's just damn awkward to use an LCD screen to frame at anything except waist level.

Plus some people just like EVFs.
>> Anonymous
Holding your camera out in front of you at arms length while looking in the screen is the worst and most retarded way of using a camera. Anyone that would entertain such a thought is clearly someone you should ignore for the fools that they are, as they clearly lack even the most basic common sense.
>> Anonymous
probably someone who thinks he's pro using the viewfinder instead of the LCD

You can buy gear, but you can't buy talent or skill. I've more respect for the decent photographer with a P&S trying their best than the idiot with a SLR that still can't do any better than a MySpace whore.

In fact I remember a professional photojournalist who uses such cameras all the time for their work. They get bother the respect of their peers and good money for their work. A lot more impressive than HDR images of a cat, yet more bad fisheye shots of kids on skateboards, or photos of the user's shoes taken at an angle - all the usual output for the wannabes with SLRs that think if they buy enough gear they'll suddenly not suck.
>> Anonymous
Use your camera however you feel most comfortable, who gives a shit about how you hold the damn thing it's the pictures you take with it that count. Jesus christ /p/ is full of dumbass angsty teenagers
>> Anonymous
i'd like to see your point-and-shoot take 12 MP 14-bit RAW files at 9 frames per second at 300mm at f/2.8 and clean ISO1600

yeah, gear suddenly make my images not suck

Alex Majoli took up Olympus point and shoots after he went digital and had to drop his Leica Ms and Hexar AF, and I'm sure he's gotten an M8, but I do know he still shoots with these: he likes the depth of field, and like the Hexar, they're silent.

Don't know what bodies he's using today, though. Maybe still the old 7070 and 8080 Olympus.

I'm sure he's not the only one who uses them like this, though.

>>290664
This.

>>290667
>12 MP 14-bit

Legit but minor advantage. also, I'm pretty sure some new P&S are 14-bit.

>RAW files

Most bridge cameras do raw.

>at 9 frames per second

Useless, l2/compose, l2/anticipate, l2/shooting rhythm, etc.

>at 300mm

Useless for most types of photography. Probably 90% of great photographs have been taken between 28-90mm.

>at f/2.8

Guess what? These little lenses usually are f/2.8 or faster, and have ample depth of field, there, too.

>and clean ISO1600

A) No one gives a shit.
B) Ever looked at something shot on Neopan 1600? Yeah, real clean.
C) While you're stopped down to f/8, these things are shooting at ISO 100, f/2 and still getting more depth of field than you are.

>> Anonymous
>>290679I'm pretty sure some new P&S are 14-bit

please show me, i'd love to know which ones when most of them can barely push 12-bit RAW files at any decent rate

>> Most bridge cameras do raw.

at what frame rate? at what processing speed? adding RAW to a puddle of smeared shit doesn't help you much, except that now you can run them through a RAW processor and try to edit that smeared shit! awesome

>> Useless, l2/compose, l2/anticipate, l2/shooting rhythm, etc.

typical response, i'll let the great Michael Reichmann say it since he said it best

>> Real Photographers Don't Need High Speed

>> I can see it now. No sooner will this essay be online than someone on one of the forums will lament how cameras such as what I've described will be the work of the devil, because real photographers wait for the moment of peak action and then take the one shot that captures it best. Machine-gunning in the hope of getting the decisive moment will damn photographers that use them to hell, or at least lead to scorn from ones peer.

>> OK, fine – whatever. But trust me – people who have to make their livings by capturing action photographs don't give a rats derier what those forum folks think. They've got an editor waiting and deadlines to meet, and if 30 -100 FPS gets the shot, then it's the ticket. Baby needs a new pair of shoes.

>> Useless for most types of photography. Probably 90% of great photographs have been taken between 28-90mm.

because you dictate how i shoot MY photos?

>> Guess what? These little lenses usually are f/2.8 or faster, and have ample depth of field, there, too.

....? i'll stop you right there because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about

these point-and-shoots and bridge cameras have variable aperture zooms.. super zooms in bridge cameras go from like 2.8 to 8.. that's f/8.0 at the tele end, compared to my f/2.8 wide open at 300mm

and i don't want massive depth of field, that's the whole point of being wide open

>> C) While you're stopped down to f/8, these things are shooting at ISO 100, f/2 and still getting more depth of field than you are.

uggggh what the hell? why would i fucking stop down to f/8?

to be at f/2.0 on a point-and-shoot, you'd be at the absolute widest angle, at ISO100? jesus christ, i hope it's a sunny day outside to get any decent shutter speed

yeah, it was pretty boring to be honest. i left after a couple of hours.

you guys are all idiots. does it look like i was there to do a job? no. why the hell would i walk around a place like that with a DSLR? so people could see my awesome 300mm lenspenis and possibly think i was an awesome photographer because i had good equipment? what the fuck? why would i care?

walking around that place made me feel like a sheep, following the herd. it's mainly why i don't like doing photojournalism.

furthermore, i know several photojournos that walk around with a P&S (G9s mostly. suck it), unless they are in bad light situations or need some specific equipment.
