So I'm going to Taiwan pretty soon, and I was wondering if cameras and lenses would be much cheaper over there. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Pic VERY related.

Any idea what I might be looking at in terms of price?

No. Cameras are cheaper in the US than in Taiwan. My friend was over there and needed a digital p&s and a decent one wasn't under 200. I don't know what SLRs are like, but I'm sure the mark up is about the same percentage-wise at least.

If he doesn't see this, grab Serenar in another thread. I'm pretty sure he lives in Hong Kong.

I cannot speak for Taiwan specifically, but high-end electronics are generally NOT cheaper in Hong Kong or Beijing.

If you are from US no difference. UK/Europe yeah you can save quite a bunch but lack of warranty and possibility that customs will rape your wallet isn`t appealing to me.

You are going to post some of your pics from Taiwan here, right? Right? ^^

I hope to see a picture of a cafe and some public transport.

Never seen much of Taiwan so looking forward to seeing your shots!

I will definitely do my best. I might be stuck with a point and shoot though, since it doesn't sound like nice cameras will be cheaper.
