It's both. It's either sold as a S700 or a S5700. I think in the US it is the S700 as mine is a S700. They are the same camera.

so has it taken you time to get used to the camera? Its my first non point and shoot and I find Ill take one good pic and 342423 shitty ones.

Yeah it'll take some time. Are you trying to MF it or use the AF?

Also don't shoot at 64 ISO. I used to do it when I first got the camera. Compare your shots at 64, 100, and 200. You'll see that 200 is very usable and has little noise still. That's usually what I shoot at. It's well worth that little bit of extra shutter speed because a minutely noisy picture is better than a blurry hand held one. Also if you ever get into a situation where the AF just cannot figure out where to focus, try setting macro mode. Even when you are using the telephoto end of the zoom. Sometimes that allows it to figure out how to zoom correctly.

I've had it since Christmas and learned how to work it pretty well. I don't have any good shots to show for it though. : / Coupling never getting to go out shooting with taking shitty shots while out shooting and thus I have no photos to show for.

manual focus seems to be useless so i stick with auto. im new to photography in general, and kept hearing that shooting at the lowest iso was the best for preventing noise, but i do agree, 200 iso does look good

i bit the bullet and spent some time with manual focus and i like the results. this was taken about 6 feet away with max zoom.

I sincerely hope you're a troll.
The Fuji S700 is a point and shoot.

Also, when posting pictures, keep the biggest side of the picture at 1000 pixels.

well my last camera was a $50 olympus knock off, so compared to that it doesnt seem much like a simple point and shoot.

PURPLE RAIN, PURPLE RAAAIIINN

Wow, those are possibly the purpelest photos that I have ever had the displeasure of looking at.

You don't see that?

You must see that.

Don't you see that?

How does that even happen? You would have had to jack up the purple in photoshop. And as far as I know there isn't even a "Fuck my picture up with a bunch of purple lines" button in photoshop. And I've been using it for a pretty large amount of time.

Nobody actually knows what exactly causes purple fringing. It's a combination of shitty lens (chromatic abberations) and shitty sensor, as far as I know.

The actual conditions that cause it are easily avoided though - high contrast, high detail scenes, like leaves against bright sky.
