36x24mm and the smaller formats are just that: different formats, with different uses and advantages. All will produce very high quality output with low noise, especially compared to film. That doesn't really matter, though. They're all good enough.
If someone came in with a 645 camera they were dissatisfied with, would you tell him to go to 67 just 'cause it's bigger? Should Cartier-Bresson have dumped his Leica in the garbage for a medium format rangefinder just because it had a bigger neg?
