Sunset 68
Okay, I'm new to /p/ I always just used to hang around /s/ but I decided to broaden my horizons ^_^ What're the rules here? Like do you post hi-res or is there a problem with that? Do nudes go to /s/ and animals etc to /an/?

Also how do you get the EXIF data to appear in the post? Does it do it automatically if the image has it?

The photo I'm uploading is one I took last summer. Say so if you want to see more from the series.
>> actually... 68
Whilst this was uploading I realised I called it a sunset when actually it was sunrise ¬_¬

Most ppl here prefer images around 1000 pixels on largest side, no reason to clog our internet tubes. If we want, we'll ask for hi-res.

While nudity and animals aren't exactly allowed here, it is OK, if picture is artistic/interesting enough.

EXIF appears automatically, if it is there.

Boring snapshots and useless comments will be deleted.

youve got some nasty dust spots on your sensor

I'll second this, whole-heartedly. If someone is genuinely interested in a high-res copy of your photo, they'll ask. Almost no one is interested in downloading a 1+Meg file that won't even fit in their browser. We're all very lazy, you see.

Dust spots? Do you mean the black dots you can see in the sky? Funny because they're not on all my of photos and I didn't think dust could get into a sensor on a standard digital camera [by standard I mean not DSLR]
But I don't know that much about it yet to be honest.

Dust can get in anywhere. I don't think that we've come so far as to be able to screen dust out completely. If any sort of connection is being made, then it's an opening for any sort of particles to enter.

Dust will get in there and the more you stop down the worse it'll look, thank christ for clone-stamp

Also, nudes are for /s/ (I believe many of us surf /p/ at work, at least I do). Animal snapshots go in /an/ but good photos of some photographical value are appreciated.

I fully agree with the max 1000px on widest length. We're here to judge photos, we won't be spending a long time downloading large photos unless we know they are quality - and thus non-awesome photos with too high res will usually not be commented on.

Some people will say "lol get broadband" when this is said, but the bottleneck is 4chan's bandwidth, not ours (I live in Sweden and I have 24Mbits downstream, ffs).

Also, criticism is to be constructive. Saying "lol sux" is generally not appreciated while "lol sux because of shitty focus, you should have gone for the second tree on the right" is a lot better.

Hope you'll find that this is a great board.

800 pixels is even better, actually. posting hi-res isn't required

yup, if you took it yourself and it's any good and tasteful, feel free to post

>>Also, criticism is to be constructive.
if it's not, it simply gets removed

I'll have a look at the original, unedited version for data.
Shutter 1/500 sec.
Aperture F6.3
ISO 64
Focal Length 34mm
Camera: Fuji S5500
Date: 07th of September 2005

Like I said, it was last summer.
Basically me and my girlfriend at the time went camping and we packed up early as soon as it began getting light. On the way home we saw the sun rising over the steelworks in my town and it looked really pretty so I went back another morning and got it. I have other ones of different parts of the steelworks if you want them?

While there's a question thread around...

Are request/contributions threads allowed here or is this board meant for crit and advice?

we prefer critic and advice.

request threads can be allowed if they somewhat contribute to the board. like when you need some good, specific photos.
