Hey /p/hotographers.
Ready for the Lunar Eclipse tonight?

(7pm PCT, or GMT -8)
(So for me, in the UK, thats 3am)

I was gonna use my Olypmus C765UZ, but dad screwed the tripod too far in, and the tripod screw severed some wire ribbon and now its broke to shite.

Considering buying one of these cameras, which do you guys /p/refer?

Here's a photo I took of the lunar eclipse

...it was DAMN HARD to get a good shot. make sure you use an epic tripod and a HUEG zoom lens

Except the eclipse doesn't even start for over another hour, and that's a pic of a total eclipse which isn't for another 3 hours.

Its from last years eclipse.

Im going to use wide lens to capture it. Lunar ecplise with tele looks just boring.

I figured that's what you meant, but it's that you said *the* eclipse, not "an" eclipse.

Anywho, I only have shitty lens that came with my camera, but I'm going to give it a try tonight anyway. The moon rises right over a hill in my area, and a storm just came through so there will hopefully be some interesting clouds to go with.

Probably wont get anything decent but it's worth a try.

Yeah, you can say that again ^^
My 10x OPT zoom really helped there! Plus a shutter open time (cant remember the technical name) or like 6-8 seconds, and a heavy-duty tripod helped me awesomely

you dont need a so called "epic" tripod. just a good one. you know, one that doesnt randomly tip over.

That generally does help, yes :)

you do need a pretty good one since you cannot have any shake at all

and with a fixed 300mm it will need to be pretty epic
most cheaper tripods cant hold heavy tele lenses at all

so you want a hueg telephoto lens, right? not a hueg zoom lens? but srsly, yeah it cant shake. thats part of a good tripod. and if youre using a 300mm prime, theres probably a tripod mount collar on the lens, which makes it much easier.

Well then I'm fucked.

$30 tripods from Target fail.
