so its a bit after 2am, im bored, and i still have not gotten a real chance to use my D300 yet. i was looking through the menus and saw it has an interval timer mode (i came from a D80, which didnt have one). then i had this idea. maybe i could combine the multiple exposure mode along with the interval mode. so i grabbed something and tried it out. turns out, it does work. attached picture made using 1 desk lamp. i dont really know what use there is for this, but hey.

also, before anyone comments about the file number, the vast majority of them were to fine tune focus on my lenses, and to test out different color modes.

I have trouble getting good shots of this figure compared to others I have shot. She does not look great at any other angle/direction than face forward. Also the colours make it difficult to shoot in a flattering manner. I ended up shooting on a black backdrop to try and add some contrast.

i kinda like an angle on her left, or your right hand side from below a bit. your colors are really flat and washed out looking, so maybe try upping the saturation some, and do a little bit of work with curves. i accidentally cut off her hand on this one, but meh, maybe later.

do an HDR photo of that figurine, just for comparison

HDR won't do anything, the entire range is already there.

The second shot looks much nicer than the first to my eye. A little noticeable CA on the ribbon at the top, but that could be fixed in Photoshop easily enough.

You should have gotten a D200 + tripod instead of D300, by the looks of it.

And some proper lighting.

Also it's very distracting when most of her body is OOF and the area in sharp focus is not apparent... there's a lot of work to do with DOF & composition.

first post was a test about interval + multiple exposure. second post to show the angle i was talking about. i actually do try this once in a while though just for kicks. this isnt my typical kind of shooting. thanks for the advice though.

yes, as stated before i was just illustrating an angle for the other poster as a suggestion. i agree the DoF makes it annoying. i dont get how the focus isnt apparent though, its on her face. its not like i put it on the bowtip or anything, but whatever. and just for the record, the lighting for the second shot is a window and 2 incandescent lights from this room and the next.

tl;dr: yes i know they suck. they werent meant to be good. they were meant for illustration purposes only.

dude I loved the lightining, could you take a picture of the setup? seems very nice, diffused and reflected, how it's only one desk lamp? I wanna know what did you use

for plastic figures, or you make an hell of an photoshop of it, or make a helluva lightining, it's your call

I reset the exposure back to 'as shot' I realised it did not need it. I also warmed and saturated it a little and corrected the cromatic abberation as best I could. Better?

the colors actually look like the real thing now. the yellows so vibrant it was kinda weird how washed out it looked in that first picture :p
