/p/, I'm looking to buy a new digital camera soon. I want a decent one. But it needs to be under 250 dollars. What do you suggest?

"But it needs to be under 250 dollars."

Look for 2nd hand DSLRs.

Indeed, go for 2nd hand DSLR's or if you want it; a bridge camera. The only brands actually still supporting this format is Panasonic and Sony, but less.

One of the cheapest DSLR's (a new one) is propably the Nikon D40 and will cost you around 450-475 dollars for a kit.

If you are serious about photography, I advice to save up and buy a DSLR. You can do a LOT more with those types of camera's.

I don't really need anything amazing at the moment. I just need one better than what I have. Something less than 250. Eventually, I will be saving up for a really good camera. Thanks so much for the suggestions.

I'm hoping maybe to go to a few pawn shops and test out some of the cameras they have there. To make sure they aren't broken pieces of crap, of course. I just need to know a few good types so I can pick up a decent one.

I think you'd better save up for the better cameras, at least you won't be needing to upgrade in a long time.

And Anon's right, you can do more with SLRs,

I suggest a used Nikon D40.
