i've been looking to get into medium format. dropped by a local shop today and the best deal i saw was a seagull twin lens reflex (as pictured) which was in pretty much mint condition, for a hundred. anyone used one of these? opinions? i've never used medium format before.

for 100-150 you can get a Rolleicord on ebay, much better quality then those chinese. it's the budget model of their high-end rolleiflex cameras

WHHOOOAAAA hold on. dont buy a tlr if dont want a big pain in the ass.

save the extra money and get a mamiya pro 645. they are fucking great. ive used a bunch of medium format cameras and for the money a mamiya pro is the best you can get.

a big pain in the ass? how so?
i found a nice rolleiflex on ebay for around 140 that i'm thinking of buying. i heard the seagull had a problem with shutter jamming and etc.

my local store, that has the seagul, also has a mamiya but it's 600 or so without lens. i'm not sure if i'm willing to dish out that much.

If you want a cheap 120 camera, look for a Mamiya C220 or 330. Then start looking for lenses. Other than the oddness of trying to pan with a non-corrected viewfinder, those are great cameras, for a low price.

they are just an outdated design. they arent as functional as a mamiya pro and there are no lense options.

there are many more reasons but please try one b4 you pay for one. see if you like it first.
