/p/, it seems the punisher is a Nikonfag.

If you had unlimited resources what camera/lens setup would you use if you were trying to spy on bad guys...or pretty ladies?
>> Anonymous
A Canon 1Ds Mark III with a 100-2000mm f/2.8 (he said unlimited resources, I include a factory to research and build said lens as an unlimited resource), and a bigass tripod.

by tripod you mean something like a tank, right?

No I mean a machine-gun mount on the back of a Ford F-350.

a rebel and a 50mm 1.8

or

a canon 1ds mk 3 with a 24-70 2.8 L
that lens is built like a tank.

Realistically?

Long-range surveillance would likely be a D3 + some crazy long glass and teleconverters and a tripod.

Ninja style? Bring a female associate, pretend to be lovers, take pictures of her with a decent bridge camera, one of those fuji whatevers. Just put the girl in front of whatever you actually want to take a picture of. Hell, I do this in crowds sometimes. I'm like, "Guys, pretend I'm taking a photo of you" and then I shoot right over their shoulder.

The Punisher only has access to early-1990s technology. No D3s.

The Punisher's text really reminded me of all that Heavyweather copypasta.

Why a D3? Unless it's really dark, wouldn't a D300 be better? Maybe a D3 and D300 kit?
>> Anonymous
id probably take an e-510 or one of the new really small ones and a zuiko 90-250 2.8 and a 300 2.8 and maybe a 25 2.8 and some of the 2x converters just for the hell of it.
why an oly you may ask, 2x crop factor and smaller lenses baby!
oh and a good tripod and a katzeye focus screen maybe with the brightening thing on it.

What do you mean, IF it's dark? You're a spy, it's likely dark. Besides, the D3 has crazy resolution compared to the D300, in terms of detail resolved. Better for picking faces out.

And yeah, that's some really fucking boring dialog to have in a Punisher comic. I like cameras and -I- was bored. I swear to god, I was going to cut myself if he said "I soup all my black and white in rodinal."

It's noon and you're in a fifth-story room shooting someone getting out of their car several blocks down. Do you take the D3 or the D300?

According to dpreview, the D300 has 12.3 megapixels of resolution and the D3 has 12.1. Now those are cleaner pixels, but in terms of raw resolution the D300 wins by a hair unless dpreview is wrong. Is it? (I honestly don't know.)

Also, I didn't mean that bit maliciously; I've defended you on those before. Liking one's gear is a good thing. I could write equally enthusiastic stuff about what I shoot with.

It's Punisher Armory (early 90's). He didn't get quite as exciting until Punisher MAX.
