so hey guise :D
just picked up my first roll of film back from developing and scanning this morn and figured id throw some up to be torn down again.

no exif cos its all film (duh.) but it was shot on a canonet QL19 with kodak bw400CN film, developed by a good shop here so i had no control over development, but im happy with em.
thing im not happy about is the scan quality, these shots are straight from the CD they gave me, they said theyd be 4mb images, though ive got ~700KB ones... phone calls are coming i thinks.

as for the other 28, well seeing as my exposures were "guesstimates" at best, theyre not worth posting. that and they generally arent good.

also, how much of /p/'s film shooters develops and scans their own film? and le'mme know what ya think about the above.

Pics are OK. Nothing very interesting, but nothing gouge-my-eyes-out terrible either. Keep shooting.

I develop and scan my own film, and so should you. If you're even remotely serious about black and white photography (i.e. you intend to shoot more than one roll) you should be doing your own developing. It's cheap, easy, gives you more control, and you'll learn a lot about photography.

T400CN is about the worst "black and white" film on earth. My favorites are Ilford Delta 100, Tmax 100, and Ortho Plus, but there's tons of good stuff out there. Just stay away from chromogenic dye films like T400CN and Ilford XP2.

Also never do photo CD scans, they're always terrible. Most current cheap flatbed scanners with a transparency adapter will give better results.

Add 2 stops, not a very difficult calculation. Though I can't remember with the QL19- does it permit manual operation or is it AV only? If it's AV only, you could just use some delta 100 and push it a stop. It'll be easy because you're going to develop it yourself anyway.
