Which means that the ratio can be around 1:2.9 and still be considered macro. Hence all these lenses labeled macro that really aren't (Sigma 24mm f1.8, 70-300, 70-200 F2.8) Tamron 28-75 f2.8 etc..
TRUE macro lenses go 1:1, but those are the good / expensive ones.
