So I was at Kinko's the other day, and someone was at the counter talking to a clerk, and his memory card was in the reader... so I pop it out and go home to see what faggotry was within.

Suffice it to say, much and varied. Most of this is more /trv/ material, because while his camera is mid-grade amateur, his skill-level is clearly reflective of no training, no talent, and no forethought.

Despite that, among the gigabytes of detritus, I found one picture which I can appreciate similarly to found art.

We must have different standards...

I consider anything with a real lens to be mid-grade amateur. :P

wow

well I guess it serves the idiot right for leaving his card but jees that's mean.

Now what would be funny insert some CP into and make it look like it came from his camera and then send it to the police.

you call that a real lens?
>> Anonymous
>>129694

Yeah. The CZ lens in the Sony is much more optically consistent than the one in say the Pentax E10 or Polaroid PDC-5080.

I've always wondered: are the Sony-made Zeiss lenses real Zeiss designs, like the Panasonic-made Leica lenses are real Leica designs, or is it just the badge?

Never understood why you would ruin a shot with the date imprint, even back when they did it on film. With EXIF today it's just retarded.

interesting find though

Pretty sure I read somewhere that they're just branded that way. Wiki indicates that most of the companies that use "Zeiss" lenses actually use zeiss optical formulae, quality control or other design specs - but they aren't actually built in Jena.

Look for a red T* on the lens, if it has that its a real Zeiss lens, or at least one made of very high quality.

Not true. T* just refers to Zeiss' coating formulation, like Pentax SMC, Rollei HFT, Fujinon EBC, or Nikkor Nano Crystal Coat.

The "best" way to judge Zeiss "quality" is to look at what they're attached to. At the top are classic Contax, Hasselblad and Rolleiflex lenses, then Contax C/Y lenses, then ZM/ZF/ZK lenses by Cosina, then Sony's ZA (maybe equal to the Cosina ones?), then Sony compacts. Old Zeiss Ikon cameras fit in between depending on their original target audience.

But then, who gives a shit? Just look at the individual merits of each lens depending on what you're shopping for - compare a Sony compact to a Canon compact, or the ZM Biogon 28/2.8 to Leica's 28 Elmarit. It doesn't matter if it's a "true" German lens. Just make sure it takes good pictures.
