hmm, maybe I should add flickr.
but I get most of my wallpapers from there.

I've found better stuff on flickr than on deviantart to be honest.

The graph needs an "HDR Zone" but otherwise it's ok.

How's this?

Oh and these are based on impressions. It would be more accurate if they covered zones because of how much talent or lack therof varies in the communities.

flickr is full of "oh how nice" comments, no contructive criticism. /p/ is way better than flickr.

Lomo users use a lot of photoshop. A lot you see of the post-processing is actually done in photoshop. Talking about fake shit.

You guys that are obsessed with photoshopping make me laugh. Why don't just add a category that says "excessive Darkroom work" "too much contrast" "too sharp".

If you're just trying to put up more barriers to make photography more elitist, you're doing a pretty good job. Nobody who takes art seriously(gallery curators, collectors, students, etc) gives a shit about all the overshopped, and HDR'd crap you guys seem to care about it. They ignore it. Most of flickr does. You should too.

most of the trip fags ignore the no shop elitism

You, yes you reading this, most of the users on /p/ are just like you, little brats who just got their first DSLR. I know your opinion about photography looks pretty awesome as an anonymous/tripfag user over the internet but you don't know shit about art or photography, have a good day.

Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and curse the Marines; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

I have also found Flickr has better pictures overall. But Shooping and photography are almost oxymorons at this point. There are plenty of people who don't know the first thing about cameras who work with photoshop.

PS is a world unto itself.

While DeviantART does have some good stuff, it's incredibly frustrating when most of the "popular" submissions are horrible pieces of shit.

Son, we live in an internet that has photography boards and those boards need to be guarded by men and trolls with cameras. Who's gonna do it? You? You, xxLonelyDragonQueen14xx of dA? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for film and curse the deviantart.com generation; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that the rise of digital, while tragic, probably brought a new golden age for photography and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, protects boards from the waves of crap. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that board, you need me on that board. We use words like composition, lighting, meaning. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to perfect something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who posts and trolls under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a camera and make a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a troll. You have a right to flame me. You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a camera... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies. I remember when I was with the local newspaper. Seems a thousand centuries ago. We went to a local event to take pictures of the children. We left the event after we had gathered the groups of children for some shots, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there and they had come and taken shots of those innocent children with their Holgas. There they were in a group. A swarm of little plastic junk cameras. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out.

I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond Leica right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we. Because they could stand using Holgas that these were not monsters. These were photographers... trained cadres. These men who fought with their light leaks, who had skinny jeans, who had plastic toy cameras, who had no understanding of the basics of composition or technical knowledge... but they had the strength... the strength... to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral... and at the same time who are able to utilize their instincts to photograph without feeling... without passion... without judgment... without judgment. Because it's judgment that defeats us.
