boring gear thread.

i finally have the moneys to purchase an new dslr and at least one good (accounted for around 500 bucks for body, 400 for glass aprox)lens..

i have my eye on the pentax k10d, probably because you can get them for so very little if you look around, but i am also open to counter suggestions of cameras in the same price range..

for a lens i have been looking at this:

sigma..

or the pentax 50mm f/1.4 Auto

please throw me some thoughts and suggestions. thanks /p/

p.s. image is a scanned 35mm negative ;]]

Might I suggest getting a K100D instead, then spending the extra cash on a 35mm f/2 to go with the 50mm?

Theres a 24-60mm f2.8 that Sigma makes, its older but considered amazing (better than the 24-70). I've seen it sell for $220 new on Amazon.com
So prices should be close to that at other stores.

Meh, I had the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 at the time, Wasn't impressed with it either, So I just sold it and got a 30mm f1.4 to fill the gap between my 24mm f1.8 and 50mm f1.4.

Of course you are looking for a pentax mount, might be harder to find (The sale I saw included Canon and Nikon, not positive about Pentax)

I know it's hard but I suggest waiting a few extra months for the k20D: the specs are looking good, live view and the rest, and the k10 (which I think is better than the k100d for the weather sealing alone) would drop its price.
