I know you get a ton of these a day, but I am about to head out on a trip of Europe, and I want to step up from a point and shoot. I took a photography class in high school, so I know how to handle an SLR, but I don't have any great talent, I just want to get some good photos.

This is the kit type thing I was looking at, plus probably a prime 50mm lens. Henrys sells one for $150 which looks pretty good to me.

Does this seem like a good route for me to take? Obviously I am going cheap, but like I said, I have no great talent.

Also, recommendations for a good flash? I will probably be inside quite a bit, although I know a lot of places don't let you take flash photos because it can damage the paintings and stuff.

A dSLR won't help you as much as you think it will.

Sorry, what I meant by that is that I do know what I'm doing, but I don't have that... artistic flair. I've always known it and its a personal limitation that I don't see myself getting around.
