I like image resizing algorithms. There's some really advanced ones, far beyond the basic anti-alias and bicubic of photoshop. You have to choose which is best for the application.

But, bicubic is the general purpose one for photography, since its blurry. And anti-alias comes is many flavors, photoshop uses one that's sharp but not too pixelated.
