HELP! Anonymous
Dear /p/,

Please help! I had taken a beach trip a few days ago. Upon returning I discovered that there was sand in my purse and sand in the nooks and crannys of my camera. I cleaned it all off but whenever I try to turn my camera back on it says "Lens Error". /P/lease, is there anything I can do to bring it back to life?

The lens is stuck due to sand. You can try pulling it by hand while switching the camera on - this worked once on my old Nikon 4300. If this fails, you'd better take the camera to be cleaned professionally (unless you have experience with precise mechanics and are willing to risk fucking it up completely while disassembling it)

Thanks, I tried but the lens wont come out more than a 16th of an inch, so it's nearly impossible to grasp it. I think I'll take your advice and take it to be cleaned.

Compressed air might help but might blow it in further, making the problem worse.

If you don't want to take it apart at all, the safest option would be to take it in somewhere.
