Hey /p/,

I'm looking for a cheap digital camera that will mainly be used for the following :

1. The Occasional picture of my dog
2. Taking picture to go with e-bay auctions of some rare vinyl records (around 150), where you more or less are able to see what state the grooves are.
3. The occasional day out pictures

I'm totally clueless as to what is a good digital camera, so i thought I'd ask your opinion.

I've looked around a bit and found the one pictured quite interesting, but I have no clue if it's worth it's money.

Thanks for the help.

You're better off with the Canon A series

A550 if you're cheap. A720 IS for something better.

Canon A720 IS also has better macro which is what you need to see the grooves.

Agreed on both points.

>Canon A

Not very pocketable at all.

Superior imaging quality to the pocketable cameras.

I don't see the word "pocketable" in OP's post a single time. GTFO.

The op seems to be a "random snapshot" sort of photographer, so there's no real reason for him to pay extra for the best image quality, and certainly not for manual controls and whatnot that the A-series gives you. He just wants to take pictures as mementos of what he's been doing.

It's implied somewhat by the fact that he's looking at an Ixus 70.

I'd say go for the one you've been looking at. It'll be a perfectly adequate camera for your needs.

great camera for 150~, small, pretty decent picture quality... and yeah. A series is a bit better at taking pics, but they are bulky / ugly for what they are.
