I have no photos of my gear. :( I'm so fail. I bow to you, OP.
>> Anonymous
so Nikon finally made it rotate all the way to the right? no more snapping/breaking it to go 180 degrees
>> Anonymous
/p/ is for poorfags only. Get lost OP.

I love my SB-600, i immediately regretted spending $300 on a flash but once I got using it, god damn is it handy.

oh, hai flash

meet my fast lens
>> Anonymous
>>299563

Having a fast lens doesn't mean having an unlit subject is pleasing.
>> Anonymous
>>299563
F/1.8 is so pedestrian.
>> Anonymous
>>299564

it's a wide aperture lens, it's f/1.8, it takes a lot more light than regular lenses. lrn2basic photography
>> Anonymous
>>299577
it's not always just about properly exposing the image, fill flash and creative lighting or incredibly useful techniques

lrn2reading comprehension
>> Anonymous
people people, this is a new gear thread, post up or shut up. creativity thread is that way >>
>> Anonymous
>>299579

creative lighting is another word for not knowing how to use available light

i'm sure you're proud about your "lighting" techniques
>> Anonymous
>>299563
Because I love having a narrow depth of field if it is dark.
Because I love having blurry pictures because I can't stop the action.
Because...
et. al.

Go learn photography yourself.
>> Anonymous
>>299584
you are chaining your creativity. photography is painting with light and you are giving up the power to change and mold that light. why would you do this?

now ambient light photos can be amazing and in some situations they work, but refusing to ever use a flash is amazingly retarded.
>> Anonymous
>>299584
because available light is totally always the best solution for the situation

this coming from a sports photographer, I hardly ever use flash on assignment or when I'm out with friends, but to totally discount flash photography is retarded in and of itself, on a grand scale.

I own fast lenses and dream of owning a camera that's noise-free at ISO 6400 but god damnit stop being such a pretentious faggot

and I probably just got the shit trolled out of me
>> Anonymous
>>299588photography is painting with light

see what i meant with>>299584i'm sure you're proud about your "lighting" techniques

fuck your flickr hipster faggot light painting, if that's creative lighting, i'd rather never be part of it
>> Anonymous
oh, I guess I should sell my monolights, reflectors, softboxes, umbrellas, stands, gels, and on camera flashes cause clearly all it's doing is making me a hipster faggot

thanks for showing me the "light"

i have seen some dumbass shit on /p/ before but this is blowing me away. i can't believe there is an argument about whether flash is useful for taking photos. i can't decide who is dumber
1)the making this fuck stick claim
2)the people getting trolled and fighting with him about it
3)or me for bumping this shit
>> Anonymous
>>299591
>and I probably just got the shit trolled out of me

Yes, I'm 99% sure the guy was trolling to make a point. You hear dumbasses proclaim and get away with what he said, with the exact same sentence construction, except in reverse, all the time. How many times has someone said here that people who don't use flash or don't use it a lot just don't know how to "motivate light" or some such nonsense?
>> Anonymous
this didnt turn out how i had intended.
>> Anonymous
>>299618
as in saying that flash should be used for every photo ever?

>>299623
/p/ is not the place for informed and civil discussion about photography and the techniques or equipment assosciated with such a hobby/profession.

"motivate light"
totally stealing this phrase

>>299584
i tend to agree with this statement. but mebbe it's cuz i'm too poorfag to really see the justification behind all that expensive heavy lighting instead of some light good lenses when i don't have a studio and shoot outside most of the time.

<-- most of the time the "creative lighting" is just too blatant/unnatural and this disturbs me, because it turns people into plastic figurines. but rarely it seems to be done nicely to work with the ambient light rather overwhelm it.

nikon should get themselves a proper design team.

the only thing that doesn't make it look like a children's toy is the black color... hides the shitty curves goddamn that's an ugly flash.

like every other company has nicer looking flashes
and I don't care if it does the job or not, I wouldn't be able to look at that atop of my camera.

what's that thing attached on the 800? is that some elite battery pack or something?

getting blinded before the flash even fires, nice.
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM
>>299673
Doesn't really matter since every other company has an inferior flash system.

Well not necessarily inferior, but Nikon CLS is freaking awesome. I would have bought more but i just thought the extra money for dedicated monolights was worth the investment over time.

3 is enough anyway... well 2 since one broke when i dropped it.

That's the 5th battery case.

Doesn't increase power but does make recycling quicker. from 6-7 to 3-4 seconds
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM

I did, i dove into that like a dyke into a minge.

Too late though, one day someone will make waterproof electronics..... or not...
>> Anonymous

5th battery box

NiMH batteries are 1.2V
4x 1.2 = 4.8 v
5x 1.2 = 6.0v = correct voltage
>> Anonymous
>>299706
the voltage difference isn't a factor.

That's a nice camera.
I had a little go on one when I was in Japan, but was far far outside my price range.
£2500? There's no way to justify it.
Not unless I had considerable M glass. I got the R3a + CV 40/1.4 instead.

The toothbrush is for cleaning computer components, the ones i use in my mouth are surprisingly kept in my bathroom.

Obviously /p/ isnt surprised to see it (ac i've taken 6 shots so far :3) but everyone else is either puzzled or interested in how they work. Scary number of people my age with no memory of film.
