35mm strips taped to acetate, loaded into a darkslide and shot in a 5x4. fiddly to do, but i do enjoy how it worked out.

photos are photos it doesnt matter what you take them on the end result is the same (an image).

The photo is just some hippy fags standing around looking posed in some run down building. Nothing exciting and nothing ive not seen before a hundred thousand times.

KILL YOURSELF.

hahah, i'm fine as i am thanks. but feel free to continue deluding yourself if you think that ANYTHING you do in photography is going to be remotely original.

Well done, organic effects are always better than bullshit you can shoop.

Butterfly enjoys downgrading people no matter what they produce. The funny thing is she has an inability to prove her comments are worth anything besides childish trolling due to the fact that she does not post any decent work.
>> heavyweather !4AIf7oXcbA
This is fucking awesomely cool and you should do it more, all the time. I love it.

This could totally pass for a fly-ass band portrait. Keep shootin'!

You're welcome

Way too much credit, however no photographer can improve by just being told that their work is great. The effect is cool, i've seen similar things but never something like that (or did you miss that part). The photograph is boring, if some DA guy took it with a D40x you'd be all over it.

Do learn to tell the difference between trolling and real critisism.

retards cant handle criticism lol

Harold Bloom eh.

Ever notice that essentially no one can name a critic of anything other than roger ebert? Critics don't mean shit in the world. If people need to be told how to understand the thing they're looking at, the artist failed and/or the viewer is a moron. No need for a useless middleman who does nothing but impose their own ragged opinion.

I agree with you and was defending you.

I do like the effect.

However, is this really anything you couldn't have done in Photoshop after taking and scanning a normal photo?

No problem just stating the facts my lady.

Just because people are unaware of working professionals in specific fields such as literary criticism or film criticism doesn't mean that those aforementioned folks aren't important in their own circles. Sure, Joe Shmoe might not know about the critics, but the people who matter do: gallery owners, art buyers, curators, professors, et cetera.

Woah, it's like there's a whole world out there, complete with self-sustaining niche industries and sectors that spawn critics and academics.

Get some worldview.

Back to the photo: Someone made the comment that you can integrate the horizontal lines of the film sprockets into the composition. Totally true, and it'd be interesting to see how you work that in there. I think it really works for this photo. It trisects homeboy and bisects homegirl, which makes for some interesting disruption, and it makes the whole thing flow nicely from right to left. I really, really like this shot, and you're whole method. Do more stuff with this workflow.

A) Yes, but not to the degree Bloom hates his novel. He's said that if he could, he would remove every last copy in existence from circulation.

B)She isn't and she shouldn't be, but even if she is a bad photographer (I haven't seen enough of her stuff to have a real opinion) she can still have a valid opinion on it. That's the point.

(It just submitted for no reason, sorry.)

There isnt much of a relationship between being able to make great photos and being able to tell others how to make great photos (or rather, why they have failed too).

What almost all of you are failing to see is that I have made a perfectly valid critisism.

You can sit and hate me as much as you want, it still doesnt make what I say wrong and it wont make the photo in question any better.

The only person you are proving wrong is yourself.

A++ image! I like the film affect you added, do you know where i could find a tutorial to do this in adobe photoshop cs3?

The shot is nice. but your shadows are blocked up. could use more exposure. try to meter your shadow with some detail. and go two stops up.

Im not some being some pissy teenager, I said great idea, bad shot. The guy you praised for "critisisim" said great idea, bad shot.

You're the one imagining things.

I'm not going to lie. I'm going to steal this effect from you.

I'm joining the "like the idea, like the shot" faction, for the record.
>> Anonymous
I really like the effect. I think it may be somewhat better suited for a different image. Without the editing, the shot is pretty good, but nothing special. With it it looks fantastic.

Now you just need to use this technique on an image that's bloody beautiful and you'll have a winner.
