I like this photo Anonymous
So I went out on my first ever shooting session with a friend today. Lighting was shit as it was overcast but very very very dull, and barely any vibrancy...
Night time we did some long-exposure shots of cars and skylines which were actually really cool...
here's a day time shot I got that i actually really like for some reason...

What do yall think?

it would be cool if this were a painting. but as a photo its pretty boring.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Eh. Horizon's tilted enough to be annoying, not enough to look like it's on purpose. The birds (which are the main thing moderately interesting in the shot) get less visual weight than the loading dock or the dumpster. Most of the scene is blank, boring pavement.

OP hea

Yeah i was going for the theme of rubbish/pollution

as, here on the gold coast, those birds (Ibis) are like pigeons/crows in NY or Tokyo, they go through rubbish and scavange off anything...

I guess there's too much waste blank boring space for a photograph...

Actually I think the birds emphasize the empty space, gives it a feeling of isolation. I think there's potential, but needs work. Fixing the tilt and better lighting-either at night if there are streetlights, or something with more shadows- might help.

I actually kind of like the dank, depressing mood that overcast skies can give photos. Of course, I'm a dank, depressing person, too. Other than the tilted horizon, I think this shot is good.

hey emo, cut your self the right way or GTFO. any way, OP, you placed where the ground and the wall meet right in the middle of the photograph and it kind of throws the picture off, either include more building (what I would do), or include more foreground. also, fix the tilt and try from a different angle (laying down on your belly perhaps?)

Aside from the tilt, i actually like it. Can't really figure out why, but I do.

Oh lols, is that some Photoshop magic filters?

imo, you should have:
-more building, less asphalt.
-full handrail, not cut off
-flat horizon
and, for extra, closed door.

All of those would make this into an awesome shot you could get people to cream over. Nice shot for your first session, comp is something you learn and get better with at time, ultimately being able to do it almost instinctively (a must for action shots).

Tilt ruins it, but very good shot. Obey the rule of thirds, you did.

I don't like how the birds are facing towards the left edge of the picture. It'd be a better leading line if they were facing inward towards the center and across the picture. You follow their line of sight across the picture, not out of it.
