Have you thought about making your own borders?

Or taking ones you did find, and editing/merging them together to make one you could call your own?

Having a custom one means it'd be that much better, rather than using something you found online.
I always get upset when I see random clipart and stock photos used all over the place. They look generic, and not well thought out. If you took some time, you could make a kickass one personally, add your own touch/flair, and make your own statement.

As its just a border, even look online, say at Google Image Search, for the "high quality" versions of, say, a volleyball, crop/cut/edit to make your border, add another layer of a gradient of a color you may like, set to a decent overlay quality, like lighten or darken, add in other flair, and BOOM its art.

The thing that I like most about the sports photo templates that I see is that it is not timeless. It is locked to a style and specific to RIGHT NAO.

I've seen pictures from 5 years ago that have the sports borders, and they look quaint. You can identify the photochop lensflare and filter effects that were popular at the time of the photo easily.

I've also seen volleyball photos of my aunt that were taken a couple of decades ago, that are of such high quality and are timeless enough so that they look like they could have been taken yesterday. I personally think that those photos would have been better if they would have been high-contrast double exposures like what was popular at the time.

A high resolution photo capturing the plyer in a moment of action, no bells and whistles, will of course be timeless.

Volleyball hasn't changed since then. Neither should what makes a photo of it interesting.
