Playing with a snail in my backyard, I suddenly saw a good photo in my mind's eye. A snail, 50 meters up, crawling along a transmission line. It's eye stalks cheerfully waving in the bright sunlight.I don't know what it is with snails, they haven't got normal eyes or mouths but they just look drat cheerful. Like a fish looks "bloop", or a millipede looks "grumgrumgrum", a snail looks "laaaaaa".I couldn't get the picture out of my head, so I went out and climbed one, with a jar full of snails, of course.EXIF data available. Up the top of the tower, I take the snails out of the jar and set them out. I'm not happy at this point, I realize I haven't really got the skill required to satisfactorily show how high these snails are.Camera-Specific Properties:Equipment MakeNIKON CORPORATIONCamera ModelNIKON D70sCamera SoftwareVer.1.00Maximum Lens Aperturef/4.4Sensing MethodOne-Chip Color AreaColor Filter Array Pattern815Focal Length (35mm Equiv)105 mmImage-Specific Properties:Image OrientationUnknownHorizontal Resolution300 dpiVertical Resolution300 dpiImage Created2007:04:06 12:37:41Exposure Time1/500 secF-Numberf/8.0Exposure ProgramNot DefinedExposure Bias0 EVMetering ModePatternLight SourceUnknownFlashNo FlashFocal Length70.00 mmColor Space InformationUncalibratedImage Width800Image Height777RenderingNormalExposure ModeAutoWhite BalanceAutoScene Capture TypeStandardGain ControlNoneContrastNormalSaturationNormalSharpnessNormalSubject Distance RangeUnknownUnique Image ID9f4b6707c7f223369f19fdf4c9d311a7
>>46721Awesome shot!
nom nom nom
laaaaaa
lol this thread made me go "laaaaaa"
>>46721this is the best thread ever, an i don't know why, but yeah.
I'm gonna add "Climb something with a jar full of snails" to "Find a hobo" and "throw a cat" to the List Of Things That Make For Good Photos.
What's that unfamiliar tingly feeling... oh yeah, this thread is cheerful. How strange. And I love the words "eye stalks."
>>46739It was "laaaaaa" that made me grin, actually.
>>46740Yeah, there's a lot of cheerful bits in there. I mean, three different sound effects?!>>46722I get a sense of how high they are from this one, they just don't look particularly cheerful yet, the light is too hard.
Are you the actual guy from SA, or just reposting it?
