Pentax lense tripfag !TAHuMAgQ/k
hey /p/

I just recently bought a 50mm 1.7 off of eBay, it's an older Pentax K mount, manual everything. I'm using it on my pentax K110D. Problem is, Even with the shutter maxed out at 1/4000 second, and the ISO down to 200, it's still hard to get pictures outdoors, as well as using a flash, The fastest I can get my flash to sync is 1/180.

I like to shoot wide open at times, and with this problem, how can I fix it? Filter? Close the aperture (despite I want it wide open)

pic related, it's the lense.

See this is a decent gear thread. The question is well explained and singular enough that chances of finding a preexisting thread on another website are slim.

ND filter?
>> Anonymous
You need some neutral density filters, the stronger the better. ND8 or higher, maybe even multiples.

Anons are right on this one.
If you want to keep the aperture wide open then you need an ND filter fo' sho'.

Obviously it'd be easier to just close the aperture, but if you want to keep that aperture cracked wide open then an ND filter is the way to go.

PS: Stick with ISO 100 when you can. It'll help.

the smc 50/1.4 is one of those make believe "legendary" lenses that idiots on the Internet rushed out to buy because of all the hype and turning it into a $200 item on Bay

good job Internet

PROTIP: The OP is talking about a 50/1.7

too bad that one is even worse than the smc 50/1.4

doesn't change the fact people are rushing to buy them just because it's cool to have one

Most of them are under $100.
But yes, for what they sell for it would make more sense to just buy the Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 lens.
