oh god this is killing me...

okay

i just calibrated my monitor... now should i be using colour profile on all my editing software? like CS 2 and Lightroom?

or should it be the other way around? I should leave CS 2 and Lightroom on Adobe RGB or sRGB and change my monitor's colour profile to which ever it is i choose. ( i know Adobe is better for prints... so i may set it to that)

just really getting sick of seeing photos much brighter in CS 2 than in Firefox or ACDSEE

Help me /p/ colour space is confusing me.

Everything in your workflow (camera, monitor, every piece of software your image passes through, printer) should be using the same color profile, no matter what it is.

If you make your own prints, you can choose whatever you want. If you send your files off to be printed, find out what your printer uses and go with that.

That answer is bang on, as far as I know.

yeah well i can't set my monitor on sRGB cause it goes completely dark. Setting CS 2 and LR to the save custom setting of my monitor has made it so at least everything i edit is what the final product looks like... i don't get darker images than usual.

I shoot raw, so when i'm converting i'm doing the monitor profile then afterwards i convert the profile to sRGB in CS 2... then post it in me web gallery... it seems to work okay now.

Man this shit is annoying, wish i had that spyker thingy calibration device.

Get a CRT while you're at all this. Seriously, they're extremely cheap and better displays (especially for photo editing) than LCDs.

Say that in /g/ and enjoy the shit storm.

well not really the temp, cause i'm more after consistency in all my editing shit.

sick of fixing levels in CS 2 then checking the final product and seeingit's like 1 stop or 2 darker than what i wanted

the spyder2 is like, the basic, bottom of the line calibration tool. but it works.

but, start here.

http://epaperpress.com/monitorcal/

it's decently comprehensive, and it should help you out more than any /g/ shitstorm.

Why? It's a fact.

They have many facts of their own. Go on and try arguing it then. I doubt you'll win them over. I've given up.

My argument against CRTs is that anything that flickers under 120hz or so gives me a headache if I use it for more than an hour. So LCDs win.

i've already used that... adobe gamma is surprisingly better... but it's still sorta hit and miss ... must get spyder
