Cheapest, easiest to use, highest quality point and shoot for a gift to a grandmother?

$80 at circuit city, $90 with tax. Does it suck horribly?

>Easy to use: Grab the camera and start snapping—intuitive buttons and easy menus make photo-taking a breeze.

Pick any two.

However, if this is a camera for your grandma, it's really not gonna make a difference. Go for cheap.

One thing you might want to keep in mind: Old people prefer to look through a shitty viewfinder than to look at a high-quality LCD. Might want to look for a camera with a viewfinder, no matter how crappy.

What would you recommend for an amateur photographer who does it for fun and doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg but enjoys high quality pictures? Complicated isn't a problem, I'm a fast learner. I'd also like something with an excellent optical zoom.

not OP, just to clarify.

the latest canon a series, the 710 or 720 with image stabilization. probably the best point and shoot with a decent zoom that fits in a pocket.

~$250

Thank you, sir.

Hmm, looking at the specs, are there any that are around the same but with a higher optical zoom? I love taking shots of the moon and it's very difficult to get a clear high quality image with 6x optical. and I've found the digital seems to just make it very pixelated. I'm guessing that the ones with higher end optical zooms are going to be much more technical and much more expensive, though.

canon g series is next up from the a710/a720, still with 6x optical zoom.

there are some 12x canons, the s series, s3/s5. but they don't exactly fit in a pocket, unless you have pretty big pockets.

~$350-400

ofcourse most people will recommend dslrs with extra lenses for 12x and up type shooting

s3 is down to $300 with free shipping at buy.com its cus they are getting rid of them to replace with the s5s, s3 stocks won't last

only main difference between the two is digic2 vs digic3
