Are Canon smoking crack? Why would you buy a Rebel XS over a XSi? The price difference is minimal for the amount of features you lose. Stupid Canon.

because Canon needs a sub $500 entry level camera? for people who pay less than $500 for a dslr?

Things you are not going to buy should fall into the category of SHIT YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

I bought one the day it came out and I'm happy with it. I guess the joke's on you since you are the one that's raging.

In its price range, it's not a minimal price difference. MSRP of $600 vs. MSRP of $800 is a nontrivial jump for a lot of people, especially those who don't know why they'd want two extra AF points and 3FPS RAW shooting.

Ah. I was reading dcresource and they was saying it was about a $70 difference. Just checked Amazon and it's a lot more than $70 so yeah I guess so. Throws things at dcresource for being wrong (At least on retail price).

Canon has revised the price since release, it's now under $500, it's some weird number like $490 or something like that

check adorama/ritz

Street price has gone down, but those are the current MSRPs according to Canon.com.

(My point still stands with the street prices, although to a lesser extent. I was just too lazy to run two Adorama.com searches and sort through which was the real XS and XSi plus kit lens and which were the refurb, two-lens kit, lenses plus cheap batteries and tripod and crap kit, grey market kit, etc when Canon's website had both right next to each other with the MSRP attached)

I used to bitch about this occasionally when there was like a $10 price difference in the local stores, but I guess it's getting better now....
