damn these long exposures.

Your main subject - the moon is dangerously close to the center of the frame. Remember the Rule of Thirds.

Y'know, having the subject centered doesn't mean the photo is automatically a piece of shit.

Rule of thirds isn't a law.

You just told Ansel Adams to use the Rule of Thirds.

On "Moonrise over Hernandez."

Wow.

(By the way, it's my understanding Adams got to the place he wanted to shoot from late or something and had literally five minutes to set up his view camera from scratch for this shot. And, being Ansel Adams, he did it.)

just because ansel adams shot that picture doesnt automatically make it awesome.

Ya I'm going to have to say I'm not a big fan of this pic, In fact its quite boring, and theres a ton of empty space that detracts from the shot above the moon..

Ansel Adamas has tons of good stuff, But Its in the Darkroom where he shines, I have a feeling these types of shots were harder back in the day that he took pics than now, (No HDR for example)

So to get this pic was probably an achievement then, and now well its just a pic with a lot of sentimental value.
