Do you listen to music when your taking photos?
If so, do you feel it affects how you shoot? (i.e aggressive music=aggressive shots)

in regards to the type of shot your looking for.
something along the lines of listening to classical music wanting to make you take more serene shots, whereas aggressive music wanting to take action shot, etc.

I find it distracting and I prefer to be more aware of my surroundings. Goes double for nature work where blaring music might disturb something or prevent me from noticing how much noise I am making.

I've always wanted to try this and see how it impacts my shooting, but haven't, for two reasons:

1. When I went to try this, my CD player was dead. I haven't replaced it yet; I almost never listen to music "on the go."

2. A distaste for people who prefer to shut themselves off from the world and just have music going, even if it means they can't be paying much attention to either one. (Chesterson: "Music with dinner is an insult to both the chef and the musician.")

A bad reason, because I'm doing it for a specific purpose, but still.

I suspect it would have a positive impact on the aesthetics and a negative impact on the depth of the shots.

its very rare i am not listing to music, i shoot almost all the time with music on but its normal for me it would be much weirder to shoot without it.

I tried that once and stopped when I realised it was scaring off all the bugs I was trying to get macros of. I like the music, but it's not worth missing another shot.

shooting buildings and landscapes kina negates that point, id quite like to see my subjects run away from me!

You'll regret that claim if it ever happens! Do you only shoot landscapes and buildings or do you only listen to music for them?

Im kina always listening to music (kina being a dj first and a photographer about 5th..) so im generally listening to music all the time. Ofc when i go shooting with people I dont listen to music but that doesnt happen very often.

Ah, it's in your interests to keep listening to it to keep sharp in your trade then. Must be a nice chance for you to get unusual photos in that occupation.

Its not the music that affects my shots. Its usually the alcohol.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
since this got bumped, i do a lot of shooting inside clubs etc so its kina hard NOT to be listing to the music there.

I really liked:

but I would have liked to see it with lower ISO and a slower shutter.

that IS tidy, i currently use two piles of 50~ records for my desk type things, its a tip as usual (not shown are the masses of clothes that cover the rest of the room!)

I had gotten the camera less than 200 shots before and down own a tripod its hand held, its already at 2" at the lowest (or highest?) fstop that lense does, ISO400 is fine.

Thanks anyway ^__^

Oh well, I'll take your word on that being tidy then. You've not quite reached the "crack den" level yet, so that is a plus.

I recognize that subwoofer. I think I've got the same Soundworks speakers. What you need is an old fashioned PSX to round your collection off. I've got one I'm happy to sell for $6000, maybe $5000 seeing as it's you.

Creative Soundworks? Mine are like 10 years old already. What i really need is my keyboard and bass (both somewhere else in my room) the 19"rack dell server (hiding behind a door) and the other 1k records sitting downstairs in my flat.

i has a lot of stuff.

Mine are years old too, but I'm tone deaf so them and a pair of headphones does me fine. I'd never know the difference between them and any newer or better ones.

You have your own rack server in your flat to go with the rest of that? You have truly out-geeked me. Well done. As a special commemoration of this occasion I'll let you have *the audiophile's dream* the PSX for a mere $2000. A bargain at twice the price, I've been told!

You know you want that ultimate audophile/geek-chic!
