what screen do you use when working with photos? Anonymous
Every time after Ive been working for days on my laptop (15" TFT dell, 1024x768) and then go back to the work desktop monitors I get mighty suprised how different the photos look!

Do you also use standard screens, or do you actually intentionally buy higher res screens for better photo looks?

Some screens are really nice, 200ppi+, but they also cost a lot, and then of course there are some who prefer using CRT instead of LCD.

You want to get some sort of color management there, I'd imagine.

but would it really be enough? if you meant adjusting the colors so they match

It'll make a difference. You get kits for maintaining more reliable colors with your monitors and so on.

The biggest problem with notebook screens is their failure to maintain a constant gamma across the whole screen because of issues with angle of view. Even some cheap LCDs can be fine for photo editing, you just have to make sure the gamma stays constant across the whole monitor when you're sitting in a working position. If not, no matter how much color calibration you do, you'll still get poor results.
