hey /p/eople Anonymous
hey /p/eople, a newbie photographer here...

this is my first time posting any of my pics anywhere so i guess C&C welcome....

also i've a got a couple of questions:
1. what is HDR?
2. what is EXIF data? is that automatically posted with the image?

the pic is of a hallway light from a local club here...
EXIF data available. Clickhereto show/hide.

OP here the pic is already edited, this is the original...

the pic was treated with a color burn layer, some curve manipulation on the red and green layers, and a resize...

personally, I think I like the unedited a bit more than after you edited it.

ok...why do you find the original image better?

care to share? im new to this whole process...
>> Anonymous
actually i love the color burn layer. it was really effective in giving the image a dramatic touch. i say good job.

and HDR means stands for high dynamic range. it's a digital photography technique where you take a series of shots of a subject at different exposures and later process the images into one, allowing the image to have detail in a very broad range of intensity levels
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
Hey newbie.

HDR = High dynamic range. A photograph composed of multiple exposures. (See image attached, HDR by yours truly)
EXIF = Data stored by your camera embedded into a picture file. This contains data from exposure to shutter speed and even which camera was used.

Your unedited photo is better because the edited version is too saturated.

Ah fuck, I can't believe I've done this.

thank you for that!

by exposures do you mean different aperture sizes? ISO speed? shutter speed?

or is that an automatic function of the camera?
>> Anonymous
>>123292

ahhh i see, the saturation's too high? what would be a good method of turning down the sat? just use the hue/sat command in cs3?

huh?! wha-!? oh shi-...
>> Anonymous
>>123293

you're clouds look kind of silly. Id overlay on of the original clouds. If you're using photomatix, it tonemaps skies really shitty for the most part.
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao

This can be achieved by using burst mode (or continuous shooting) on most dSLR cameras, combined with AEB -2 and +2.
It can also be done manually by adjusting the shutter speed only.
HDR is recommended to be done with a tripod but can also be done handheld if the right software is used.

>>123297
The original photo is fine.
>> Anonymous
>>123308

oh ok, hehe lol thanks for the tips there beethy...
>> Anonymous
>>123294

yeah any of those though it's mostly different shutter speeds or different apertures.
>> Anonymous
>>123274

I like the warmer color temperatures in the edited version, but the burn removes a lot of detail.

Hmm, reminds me of something that would be in Myst...

*edit*

Ok, wait, NOW it reminds me of something that would be in Myst.

hehey thread's still alive lol, yeah the burn does take out a lot of detail, trying to find some other method of getting the darker/saturated feel...dunno if it's possible though...

oh and BTW this is OP...hehe

the lens flare looks too shooped...thanks though!
