Hi /p/,

I'm looking for a digital camera and I'd like to ask for your help.

I want to have a manual mode if possible, or just a lot of freedom concerning shutter speed and aparture. I don't want to pay more than 370$.

Any help?

You might be able to get this for a little over $400: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Fujifilm/fuji_finepixs9100.asp

That sort of SLR-like camera is your only real option for what you want in controls and features and the limited budget. Maybe if you buy second hand or look for an older model you can get a bargain. Shop around and you might get it.

Manual controls = any fucking Canon A-series camera.

CANON A-SERIES IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER NOW FUCK OFF.

There we go. That's your answer, OP. I've not heard anything bad about those cameras for the price. Although there are so many it's hard to keep track of them all.

A6x0 series is my favorite of the group. Full manual control, good (for their level) image quality, and flippy-tilty LCD. And the latest A650IS has IS, which is win.

get a panasonic lumix lx2... i have one and i love it. don't listen to all the douche bags who say bad things about it. my only drawback is the over active noise filter. but i shoot entirely in raw so i don't have a problem with it. i don't like photoshopping my pictures too much, but i use noise ninja ant it works like a charm.

wait what. Everyone here agrees that the a series has the best manual controls on it and since thats WHAT WAS ASKED FOR its quite an acceptable answer.

I dont actually know any of sonys P&S line because i dont care about it and it has nothing to do with the Alpha team.

CANON DROOL SONY RULE!

The FZ8 and FZ50 Lumix cameras both have great manual controls.

The FZ50 i personally think has the best manual controls out of the P&S range, but it's also a step above the Canon As... and the S series too

I endorse the A-series at the sub-300 mark.

Above it, depending on what someone needs and their style of shooting, the Canon SxIS, Canon G series, Panasonic DMC-FZ8, Panasonic DMC-FZ50, Panasonic DMC-LX2, and the two Ricoh models are all options that have to be weighed on a person-by-person basis.

is the fz8 more than 300 dollars?

It's right about at the $300 mark. I think I got mine for ~$280 plus shipping. It's probably one of the best deals in photography there is, provided one is willing to shoot raw to get around the bad JPEG processing.
