>>69804 Just to clear the confusion: "HDR" usually talked about on forums actually involves a two-stage process: 1) First, several different exposures of the same scene (taken with a tripod) are merged into one high dynamic range (HDR) image. 2) Second, since a HDR image has more dynamic range than monitors are capable of displaying, it must be converted for viewing. If local brightness/contrast adjustment is used for this, the result may look unrealistic. This is NOT a characteristic of HDR image itself; the same local brightness/contrast adjustment can be applied to a non-HDR image, but the effect will be less pronounced or there will be too much noise in darker areas.
