No worthy pics shot with it yet, as it rains like shit outside, so you'll have to bear with these lame macros.

>People get things at christmas?
Well, I'm so ronery and even not a Christian, but if a lens that I ordered comes just before Christmas, why don't call it a Christmas present?

I got my girlfriend this, and the nude photography book 'Vic Eating Cabbage.'

I myself got a 50mm 1.4, which I am excited about. It's my first lens after the kit, which can't take pictures of anything but giant lemons at high noon in the middle of summer with the 5.6 aperture.

Picture is said girlfriend looking at said nude photography book, taken with said lens, focus missed because it was taken from my lap randomly.

I hope she doesn't get mad at me for posting it.

I know :).

She isn't really orange, though. So what programs do you guys use for white balance? I'd like to try Aperture (third macfag in the thread) but my five year old PowerBook can't handle it..

Nearly every indoor picture I take comes out like this. I shoot Raw+JPEG and unless I'm sadly mistaken, isn't setting white balance on-camera only for shooting JPEG? So I guess I need an app for post processing.

Photography noob I know.

So yeah, the 105mm VR 2.8 is hells awesome... though i'm still trying to figure it out... hmmmm

the Maximum aperture changes from 2.8 depending on the 1: ratio... still sharp as a tack though

>>104162
Learn white balance before you buy any more lenses.
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM
>>104162

I use to always shoot a reference card for WB, but then i just started doing Cloudy or Auto and shooting raw.

I use Rawshooter Premium to process and correct, tried Capture NX... but meh... can't get used to the workflow. Rawshooter is just brilliant i think, there's a dropper where you can pick a spot in the photo where you think it's closest to gray or white, then the whole photo gets adjusted.

Best purchase aside from CS 2

Nah, i use Brigde > PS pretty much too. Depending on what im gonna do with the picture, Lightroom if it's just simple post processing (exposure, dust removal, WB and that), PS if the image will require some more work
>> Anonymous
>>104229

Well, I'm one of those guys who actually buys the software so I don't really want to pay for something if I can do it with Adobe CS.

I heard it helped with the workflow, like doing batch processing or something like that?

>>104230
I use Lightroom and It's great for the simple fixes but I mainly use it for organizing my pictures.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>104220
Hey now. I do all of my RAW processing in UFRaw.

>>104162
Setting the white balance isn't just for JPEGs. It also sets the white balance for the RAW shot. You can then override the RAW's white balance in post, but it makes for a good starting point. In my experience, I always need to either use a custom WB shot or Tungsten mode when shooting indoors. Auto is always hopelessly orange.

i got a 5-in-1 reflector (exactly what i asked for) and a smaller camera bag so if i want to carry around my fe2, i don't have to carry it in my giant camera backpack or in some decrepit, stained 1980's shoulder bag.

i also can't believe that all of you assholes get lenses and cameras for christmas, but then again everyone i know is dirt poor (me included).

i always swear to buy myself a toyo field 4x5 for every christmas, but i never do. maybe this'll be the year!!!

(probably not.)

Heh, I bought my camera and the initial lenses after saving up. Purely my own money. So getting a lens is just a nice break. I also got fewer individual items than usual, because of the lens. Not that that's a concern, but it evens out.
Go stand near Liska, it appears to be raining cameras.
