HDR Wickmiester
Started fooling around with this when I got my E-300. Some of the shots look really neat after you combine them.

a nice shot shame the tonemapping makes it look cartoony

shut the fuck up OP. this sucks. You took a decent shot and turned it into some Doom 2 looking crap. In fact I think John Carmack would be pissed at that comment.

Lighting above the door sucks, shadows from the trees suck, sky sucks, everything looks unnatural in a bad way.

You are a bad person for posting this and you should feel bad.

Interesting, but kind of weird. The lighting is almost directionless; with more tinkering it could almost be like a watercolor drawing. I think, if I were doing something like this, I would try B&W and shy away from altering the exposure/post production brightness settings to ensure that the shadows are not removed.

That being said, you have registration problems that are especially visible around areas of contrasting colors. Look at the fire hydrant, the clock, and the building's spire - all have the 'afterimage effect.'

Sorry, /p/, but I like this.

It's not GREAT or anything, but it's very interesting to look at, which is the whole point of photography.

Boobs are also interesting to look at

therefore, boobs = the whole point of photography. QED.

>therefore, boobs = the whole point of photography. QED.

Considering how many of the tripfags and other posters on here brag about fucking their models, that sounds about right to me.

I agree. This isn't a great HDR image and has some obvious issues, but if the OP did the tweaking, it'd be better.

Most unrealistic HDR done right doesn't make me rage. I think it adds a dream-like quality to an image that can really work in it.

everyoen in this thread defending the horrible photo that OP shat out of his tonemapping program are samefag and most likely OP

This isnt the OP and I'd just like to say don't take any bullshit from the rest of the naysayers keep creating unique shit instead of mundane "realistic" images that are boring and cliche, use interesting colors and lighting...the last thing I want to see is something i've seen a million times before...keep it original and interesting and i'm happy.

OP from the other HDR thread posted today here.

I think it looks cool. It's a bit overdone but really it's a neat effect. HDR is only really useful for specific things.

Agreed. I think the image is ok but not great. What I think is great is that we actually have someone experimenting and posting work, instead of the "lol omg shit sux" /p/ has become filled with.

How about you go suck shit and we will create interesting photos? Go back to your gear thread or wherever you came from.

HDR does not automatically make a photo good. Same goes for any post-processing technique, really. If you aren't starting from an interesting photo/photos then no amount of processing is going to give you something good.

I'm not a PP is evil purist though. I think PP if done well, and with a clear artistic reason in mind can really add a lot to an image.

With that out of the way, here's my serious critique of the OP shot:
1) Starting photo(s) is reasonable. The building is an interesting subject and I think it's been composed in a nice straight-forward manner, but it's at best a snapshot, and not a work of art in and of itself.
2) Post-processing - this is what ruins the photo:
i) Far too much saturation
ii) multiple exposures don't line up, hence some ugly blur/ghosting.
iii) lighting is completely, unnaturally flat from the HDR.

tl;dr "pp isn't evil, but have a better reason for using it than I've got a pirate copy of photoshoop lulz". Also OP pic is shitsux.

correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like the old Arnprior post office....never thought I'd see it on here!

I like it ,, Now go do the same thing with the horse drawn hearse in the window of the funeral home.

OP, what did you align those photos with? Because you did a rather slapdash job. Download something like QTPFSGUI and let that align the images for you. And then play with things until you get a better looking image, one without those completely over saturated colors and some better lighting.
>> Anonymous
Nice picture.

I think the brick on the building really stands out using HDR, but your whites are too blue. Also, yu can notice a shadowing effect of the images, expecially when you look at the bell tower up close.
