Film photography OP
Hey /p/eople, What's up?
I'm just wondering, how many of you use SLRs vs. DSLRs? I'll admit to being a mere youngin' but, I enjoy film photography. I'd love to get a DSLR but I don't have the money. I use my Pracktica EE2, the thing's older than me but it's in fairly decent repair. I also have a few point 'n shoots at my disposal, but not my thing.
So /p/, What do you arm yourselves with?

At any given time, there are usually 3 or 4 film threads on /p/

I shoot some digital, but it's mostly film for me. Minolta AF and MF SLRs, plus a Mamiya medium format (120). I'll shoot digital a hell of a lot more once I get a FF body. I push myself to shoot more digital all the time, but I just can't go to that tiny little viewfinder, especially from a bright waist-level finder of a medium format camera.

I have a digital point and shoot (Fuji s700) and an SLR (Nikon F2). SLR is much more fun!
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Both. Also, TLR. And, in fact, I'm more excited about going out and shooting some TLR shots as soon as Buffalo stops being all Buffaloey, 'cause I've got it loaded up with medium format Velvia 50. NEED MOAR COLOARS, BUFFALO!

Not that I expect you to go and waste a roll of Velvia for this or some random anon on /p/, but I'm curious as to what that wasteland you posted a few days back would look like on Velvia. Do you (or anyone) have any snow scenes shot with Velvia?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>120796
anyone need any 35mm Velvia lol? Ive got like 14 rolls left and rarely use it
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM

oh mofo yes!!! it's pretty much all i use.

But then again by use i mean months ago...
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>120802
Send me your address (see email) and i'll send you like 5 rolls or something (I still need some in case I feel like shooting film again, Aka when spring hits)
Lol I'm feeling generous, Though last time when I tried to give some away no-one wanted any :(

I'd shoot a hell of a lot more slide film if processing wasn't so expensive. I have a freezer full of it, about 40 rolls of various kodak + fuji rolls, ektachrome, velvia, provia, astia, etc, etc but processing costs stop me from using it too much.
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL

I only pay about $8 per roll to get it developed and put into the cardboard "sleeves"
I don't get prints from it because Thats the expensive part.
Are places near you really that expensive?
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
UYp unti christmas, i was film exclusive. Now i use both. I wish I was still 100% film, but for now it works.

>>120829
$14 for a 135-36 roll. And I'm just cheap anyway.

I mostly shoot and develop my own black and white.

I don't have to worry about money because I get to roll film from school and develop in their darkroom I do however have a limit on paper :[
But Mr. Holden is pretty cool about it all.

OP here btw

Pic related, and its awesome.

If people are giving away free film, mind sending a poor student some?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>121005
I'm trying to give some away but no emails yet

It's hard to trust people on 4chan, I thought that was a given.

I know, But free film is tempting.
But I already get free B&W so I'm not too worried about it :p
>> sv !!vC9KZM3Ch/H
free film is temping. hmmm...
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
I use both film and digital depending on what I want to achieve.

I arm myself with:
Canon 30D
Canon Elan7
Mamiya c220 (medium format win)

Film of choice is Ilford for BW and Velvia for color

I have some other older cameras from the 50's and 70's that I don't tend to use anymore.
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
ok finally some people are cashing in, I maybe have enough left to give one more person some.
First come first serve like usuall

>>121008
I'd gladly take some but the postage to Australia would be no doubt more expensive than the film is worth.

There exist no batteries anymore for the EE2. Sucks. But at least you have a reason now to get something better then the worst you can get.
>> Anonymous
>>121471
Can't it take a wein-cell? That's what I've got in my Praktica MTL3 right now.
>> Me, with the EE2 again
>>121471
I just Poked my way round the net for a few minutes and found some alkaline version of the old mercury cells it used to take. I actually have three of the batteries in my possession so, nyah! :p

So I has batteries, they ain't cheap, but i has them.
>> Anonymous
>>121589
That would be stupid, since batteries still exist normally for the MTL3..
>> Anonymous
>>121706
The MTL3 takes a mercury battery. Since I live in the US and can't get mercury batteries I use the WeinCell
