14mm recti. vs. 15mm fisheye Anonymous
I need to rent me some wide angle for crop and the shop only has a Tamron 14mm or a Canon 15mm fisheye left for rental.

The Tamron is wider in numbers but maybe I'm wrong but doesn't the fisheye have a wider field of view?

Anyway, I just want the widest possible.

Actually, the fisheye might be stupid because I'd have to defish all of the pictures.

That Canon fisheye has a 180 degree fov and the Tamron is around 114 degrees. You could rent http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/canon_wide_angle/Canon_14mm_II if you have a couple days for them to ship it. It has a pretty red ring and everything!

They normally have other lenses better suited, like the Canon 10-22 or Sigma 10-20 but they ran out of copies.

And no, I need it quickly and I always rent locally anyway.

Hmm, 180 degrees, but I'm on crop though.

go with the 14, that's pretty wide even on crop. the fisheye will give you terrible distortion (which is the point of the fisheye) and yes, it can be fixed in post processing but it will still look like shit
