The main reason they're used more, though, is that it's an older standard and therefore somewhat entrenched--people who spent a lot of money on CompactFlash cards didn't want to spend more money on SD when buying a new camera body. Given that card capacities have increased a lot more quickly than sensor resolutions, though, it's become a bit of a non-issue, and so SD coming up from the low end is starting to push out CompactFlash. Nikon did the switch first (with the D50 forward, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong, D70/D70s users) and now Canon has finally taken the plunge by using SD on the EOS 450D (and as an option in one of the slots of the current 1D series)
