I need a camera bag for DSLR. Not too big, just enough for camera.

Any suggestions?

A Nikon one

I have a Tamrac bag that makes me look like a faggot. It's pretty nice, though.

Sure. Blame the bag.

Try Wal-Mart. I've seen some shaped for SLRS that don't look like purses.

I probably shouldn't have but I lol'd

Otherwise to be honest I'm actually looking for another as well although I can't say I'm having any issues other than bargain-hunting

It just completes the ensemble :(

Without it the parts are disparate enough to just make me look like a lunatic.

I saw a nice looking $20 bag at Wal-mart. But it'll only hold one extra (small) lens.

LowePro. When I bought my S5 I grabbed a small camera bag that fit the camera, memory cards, and spare batteries in comfortably.

When I found out about all the add-ons I started browsing the LowePro online store - LOTS of options, LOTS, and LOTS.

In just the shoulder bags alone they have bags for cameras, cameras and laptops, video, and laptop (singly). And each line (Like Apex, Cirrus, Stealth Reporter) "grows" along a certain angle as you look at higher line numbers.

Plus the AW bags have a built-in raincoat. I bought the Stealth Reporter 300 AW, and aside from having space for my S5 (with UV filter, polariser filter attached via lensmate adapter), lens-adaptered IR, my telephoto, super-telephoto lenses, mini-tripod, notebook, memory cards, batteries (and charger), it's got a raincoat that comes out of the bag on the bottom of the back and wraps completely around the bag.

(No, I don't work for LowePro).

Naneu pro makes a good bag also.

Additional:

I just have to add that my first reaction to finding out about the add-ons available for my S5 was to look for a leather bag - issues of style, wear and tear, and long-term resale value if I ever get rid of it.

I couldn't find a single thing that wasn't just a leather pouch, designed for just the camera (and not even my camera) and nothing else.

Out of piqued curiosity I did a further search on Google, prompted in part by another thread on 4c, and found Domke camera bags which look as versatile in their range and application as the LowePro's - plus there's the option of cotton canvas instead of ballistic nylon.

I have a LowePro Apex 140
holds my d40 with the kit lens attached plus with room on the side for a flash or another lens (although it's a tight fit with my 55-200, flash fits in fine)

I use a Nova 170AW and a Slighshot 200AW , both lowepro

Tamrac Express 6 or 7

Is your 55-200 the VR one?
I just got mine and it's non-VR (cheap) and I'm still trying to learn to take shots without massive blur.

Domke FUCK YEAH.

Although my Domke F-2 is very much in the "too big" category for most people who aren't the sort of douchebag who has to have their entire kit along with them at all times like I am.

Oh, forgot to say.

Oddly enough, I'm currently carrying my D2X around in a nondescript Hakuba bag that I grabbed on sale for like 50 bucks. It's surprisingly solid, but I mostly use it because it doesn't give away what's inside like a fancy-looking Lowe or Tamrac.

Truth. Don't carry your shit in an expensive looking bag. Fly under the radar.

Tamrac, Tenba and Domke.

Or if you're a hipster, Crumpler bags.

photographer = hipster.

it's a sad, inescapable truth.

"art" photographers, maybe.

The professionals I've known were rarely hipster-ish... then again, I've mostly done sports, so it's not too surprising.

that's true. i met a pro bowling shooter (1d mk3, the whole nine yards) a couple of months ago. dude was the most fred flinstone motherfucker i've ever met.

but sports shooters are the rare exception to the rule, and it's been the rule since photography's inception.

Not just sports, Journos and Documentary photographers overall aren't very hipster-ish. Pretty much, anybody who spends most of their time outside a studio.

I have nothing to suggest to you, but here's a nice website dedicated to cam bags : http://cambags.com/
