I have the Tamron 90mm Macro and its great. Father-In-Law has the 60mm macro which is also nice. I would say both are nearly equally good for actual macro work, tamron has a bit more working distance to the front element but because its so recessed the actual distance to the front of the lens is similar to that of the 60mm. The recessed front element of the Tamron comes in nice because it works a lens hood, very flare resistant. One down side about the Tamron is the AF is pretty noisy and crap for macro work, but you mainly use MF for that anyway. For focus work from a couple of meters to infinity it works great.
If you want to do indoor portraiture with the lens to get a bit more value out of it, go for the 60mm, very hard to frame a shot with the 90/100mm, whereas the 90mm works great for outdoor portraiture.
