dearest /p/

i recently purchased a pentax k10d, and for the first time in a while i am having serious buyers remorse ! not because the camera isn't good, no in fact the body is great. its that there doesn't seem to be ANY good glass for this bear. the only thing i can find that seems decent is the 16-50 DA* f/2.8 , but right now im looking for a good zoom. i have heard that the sigma 70-200 is decent, and can't find any literature on the pentax 50-135.

so my question to you is, do i bail out now and reinvest in a canon with a USM 70-200 f/2.8 or do i get some sort of lens for my pentax, and if so what do you suggest ?

lol.

i suspect there are many other people out there buying the new names in the DSLR world "cough" pentax, olympus, and sony "cough"

shouldve just brought a canon or a nikon and be gauranteed a good supply of new and 2nd hand glass covering everything.
also, everyone stocks it so it creates more competition keeping prices good and because there is demand it means it will hold its value much better compared to say a 4/3rds' olympus lens which will be a paperweight in years to come.

i guess im going to try and cut my losses and start over.

luckily this works out fairly well, becuase i bought this stuff online (the body, battery grip and lens + batteries and card)and didn't pay more than 700 for the whole shit. and because my aunt bought my rebel xt for 500 (should have kept the fucker) i only shelled out 200 ! (math !)

but yea, i bet i can sell this to someone for close to a grand ;]]

imho the 50mm 1.4 is garbage until 2.8, just saying.

why would you sell your xt to get a k10d

Dude, there's tons of great K-mount glass out there, are you kidding? Also, with that 50mm f/1.4, bear in mind there's practically no depth of field until about 2.8. Are you misfocusing?

Check out this guy and take note of what Pentax glass he uses.

If it were me, I'd get a better focusing screen, a Pentax 50mm f/1.2, and the 31mm f/1.8 Limited.

You should probably buy a Nikon D40 next. Then, when you realize that it can't autofocus with glass that needs an in-body motor, sell it and buy a 4/3 body. Then, when you realize how much fail that is, buy a Sony.

The point I'm trying to make is that you need to switch systems as frequently as possible. Then and only then will you be a good photographer.

uh no, they use the same goddamn lenses they have been making for 485 years and their camera bodies are just as good

Agreed, the best way to improve your photography is pump more and more money into gear changes.

itt typical /p/ response about gear advice.

the only thing i want is to find a system i can stick with and not feel like im getting the shaft.

ill probably just sell the k10d and continue to use my fm2 until next year when i have saved up the moneys to invest in one of this years canon or nikon models.

;< back to film i guess

Oh you dumb, dumb bastard.
>the only thing i want is to find a system i can stick with and not feel like im getting the shaft.
You had one. Then you bought into a new system with the Rebel XT for some unknown reason. But that was also a system you could stick with and not feel like you were getting the shaft, so for some reason you went out and bought a Pentax instead.

Seriously, man, what the fuck?

You are completely retarded. You need to give your money to someone else who you can trust to do your shopping for you. Otherwise you'll fritter it away with these stupid and pointless moves from one camera to the next. You've already lost hundreds. Stick with the goddamned camera you have now and take some photos.

Just stick with your FM2 for life.
