Aperture 2.0 Anonymous
Attention macfags,
Aperture 2 just shipped: http://www.apple.com/aperture/
>> Anonymous
I used to use aperture but switched to the lightroom. I have a powerbook g4 and aperture is too slow for me.

Same situation. Plus it looks like the minimum hardware reqs on Aperture 2 are 2x2ghz G5 with 2 gigs of ram...

I meet the requirements for 2 which is good.

I do notice a slowdown while running 1.5 here and there, but it's not a problem.

I used Lightroom for a while when it was still in Beta, it didn't run to well on the low spec laptop I had at the time. Does it have the export options like Aperture does?

I don't quite remember what export options Aperture 1.5 had, but Lightroom's got this plugin architecture recently, and now you can export directly to flickr, which is pretty much all I personally need. At any rate, I haven't had a situation where I found exporting options lacking so far.

Sounds interesting, I'm gonna give it a shot and see how it goes.

I used 1.5 with a macbook 2ghz/1gb RAM/Tiger and it sucked my ass. It was slow and crashed or froze every five minutes or so. Lightroom worked flawlessly though.

Aperture sends everything to the GPU, so if you have integrated graphics like in the Macbooks, it's gonna be horrible.

I use 1.5 on a late 06 topline mb pro. Works fine.

I bought it about 2 weeks ago at a compusa (30% wee) and the recent purchasers upgrade is only 9 bucks!
