EXIF DATA HELP:

i open a Canon RAW file, CRW, in Photoshop CS. I go to File>FileInfo. My EXIF Data is there.

I save as a JPEG, and upload to the web, and it is no longer there.

BUT, I open the JPEG in PS CS, and the EXIF is still there.

I have read this:
http://flickr.com/groups/canondslr/discuss/24804/

Anyone else experienced this problem? Know what is wrong?

Use Lightroom or Aperture to convert your RAW to JPEG before editing in Photoshop.

Easy and free* solution.

in photoshop go image->mode->8bit then click save as (not save for web) under the file format selector pick jpeg

save for web tries to create the most compact file possible for fasting download times

I am not saving for web.

I am saving all of my files:

File>SaveAs>JPEG

not for web, and my EXIF keeps disappearing.

Then, jackholes like beethy say i'm "stealing pictures from flickr" because there is no EXIF, and its pissing me off.

No shit, Sherlock.
But there's a common problem with some versions of Photoshop dropping EXIF data when converting from RAW to JPG.

>>235018But there's a common problem

uh... no

but if your definition of common is 1 or 2 camera waiting for an ACR update, then SURE it's common

and that's not the problem in this situation, moron

why the fuck would you convert raw to JPG b4 editing? you should leave it in 16 bit till the very last step b4 saving you idiot

Well yeah, because obviously you can't edit a photo in Lightroom or Aperture amirite?
I'm just suggesting a way he could keep from losing his EXIF data since apparently Photoshop is dropping it when he converts to JPEG.
Never claimed it was the best possible thing to do, just that it was a potential solution.
