i mounted a NIKON SB-E (op pic) on my digital rebel xt.

I've played around with and, and it seems to work? will this suffice? i mean i think anything is better then the pop up flash the rebel provides, and it adds another 2 or 3 inches above the lense.

I think the only probably is my pictures are becoming to bright from the flash. how should i set my camera to cooperate with this privative flash?

check the voltage of the flash, its it's an old +200V flash it could harm your camera

find out if the flash works in A-mode, then set your lens aperture to the flash aperture. if the flash only fires at max power, find out its "Guide Number". google to calculate your lens aperture for different distances
