I think this photo is terrible and makes me wonder why you have a 30D. Why? Well, I think the subject is bland, the composition is boring, the lighting is lacking, and I get the feeling that nothing is in focus. To me, this photo just has nothing that I want to look at. Sure, the subject may look neat, but that doesn't make it an interesting thing to take a picture of.

Try submitting something smaller than 3.8 fucking megabytes and more people might look at it.

i don't understand the subject and i don't like how it's not framed by anything. it looks like an image that you'd find on amazon if you were looking to buy one of whatever that thing is.

As is, I don't like this image, but when I zoomed in to get a closer look at whatever the fuck this is, I liked the image a lot more.

Agreed. 14 fucking minutes to download this.

This is in great focus as you can make out the details at the end of the glass thing and the edges of the bowl.

I didn't think about that, but that made me reevaluate how I approached this image. It also reminds me of something you would see on a home page for an online gallery or artist's webpage.

Forgot to mention this in my last post...

I can see your reflection in the glass which is bad in and of itself, but glare is also typically bad when shooting glass anyway.

Try softening the light and either backlighting or underlighting the subject, you'll have much more success that way.

Sorry for the massive file size. :(

And, thanks for the advice Dan, I'll have to try that because basically, I wanted this image to be the index image for my online portfolio.

The subject is a hammer-formed copper bowl with a blown glass container. Though the two pieces initially weren't meant to be shown together, they fit so well together I decided that display them as such. Since the background of my gallery would be black, I wanted to shoot an image that was mainly black and that had a wispy, incorporeal appearance to it.

Yeah, I realize that it's not the most compositionally sound image and I should have explained what I was going for from the beginning instead of generically asking "Der dur, opinions plox!"

yeah I did.

Sorry, I'm still pretty new here at 4chan. =(
