You do realize cognates of the English word "analogue" are the word used to refer to film cameras in many other languages, right? And you understand that not knowing the common idiom in English, a non-native writer would probably go to the trusty cognate?

$10 says the OP is such a non-native writer. The bailout $700 Billion says you're being a douche over nothing.

Also, 'analogue' is a perfectly acceptable term to refer to film cameras in English.

It just so happens that the only reason most kids refer to them as analog nowadays is to distinguish them from digital and to appear hip and retro.

Way before digital, was the film medium widely referred to as analog? Technically, it is analog because it creates an "analog" of the scene which can be replicated by reversing the process such as using a projector. It could be digital (relating to discrete numbers) because of how the fine grain is either exposed or not but their random arrangement doesn't go with that idea.
