Need Help With Cropping Decision Anonymous
All -

I'm finally ready to launch my site to sell my prints. Specifically, it's three years' worth of studio nudes.

I'm using Shutterfly Pro to handle the printing/mailing/credit card stuff for me.

My choices are: Find the sweet spot on each photo for cropping to 8x10, 11x14, etc. OR have each photo printed so that all of the photo is included, but the customer needs a custom mat.

I'm charging $25 for an 8x10. Do I make those customers get a custom mat?

If i was paying $25 for a print, I doubt I'd want to spend another $25-$50 on a custom mat.

OP here. I'm hoping to make more money on the big prints:

8x10 $25.00
11x14 $40.00
16x20 $50.00
20x30 $60.00

If I spent $60 on a print, I think I'd be okay with another $40 on a custom mat. What the Hell do you guys get charged for custom mats anyway? I have my own mat knife so I have no idea what the prices are around town.
