Soo i got my first camera meant for taking artsy pictures today.

Canon S5 IS (/p/ recommended me it a few days ago)

Can someone recommend me a site or something for camera noobs? I know I should read the manual, but I just got home to find it on my doorstep like 5 minutes ago.

pic is a very very shooped version of me.

the S5IS is pretty straight forward.

If I remember it correctly... when in 'M' manual mode. You use the arrow keys to adjust shutter speed and aperture.
Left, right = shutter speed
up, down = aperture

I'll explain what both are very quickly.
Shutter speed = time the shutter of the camera is open for, at 1/1600 may be the fastest on your new camera.. and this shutter setting will pretty much freeze every movement.
Do not for a shutter speed longer than 1/20 (when zoomed in 10x don't go longer than 1/60)

Aperture = controls how much light the sensor receives, also controls depth of field.
The lower the number is, the brighter the image...
At a lower aperture you also get the least depth of field (causing more blur or bokeh in the background)
Higher means less light and more depth of field.

Hope this covers all the basics.

There's a little button of a flower on the left side of the lens (front of camera)
Hold that for about 2 seconds (or longer) to activate 0cm super macro mode.
This will allow the camera to focus on extremely close objects. A pretty cool feature (especially handy because of the flip screen)
