Could be the ultimate pocket camera (wide-angle lens, a lot of manual controls, RAW, etc.) if the sensor wasn't so shitty.

despite the sensor problem, it still seems worth it to me.
i was thinking of getting the d-lux 3 but the budget has decreased since then.

Well, all bells and whistles don't mean much if the sensor fails even at ISO 100. So if you don't absolutely need 16:9 images and RAW mode, get something like a Fuji's point-and-shoot with SuperCCD sensor - it's uglier, but it gets the job done way better.

And D-Lux 3 at $500+ is a DEFINITE waste of money. Extra two hundred bucks for a Leica logo and some obscure tweaks in image processing? Leave that to rich idiots.
