Hi /p/

I own a 350D and i'm searching for a CANON Flash Speedlite 430EX review, but i can't find it.
I mean, a nice review with samples and all the functions explained.

I've never used an external flash so any tips on how to get better results is also welcome. What do you think about the 430EX?
>> Anonymous
It's a great flash, does everything you need it to do. There's also the more capable and much more expensive 580EX but the only people who actually need it are the people who can actually afford it.

Canon's also releasing the 430EX II soon. Only advantages I know are faster recycle times by 20% and silent recharging. Can't say if it's worth getting over the 430EX II since I don't know its pricing but I'd stick with the 430EX unless the II was only $10 to $20 more expensive.

And I actually like the recharging sound.

I have the 350D and the 430ex was a great addition to the kit. More powerful than I could possibly imagine (after being used to pop-up).

Ditto

Didn't know about the 430EX II, but if that could turn the 430 EX's price lower those are great news :D

I rarely use de built-in, even with a home made diffuser the shadows are really strong. But i need a way to get more light into the subjects, so if i use the 430EX poiting to some reflector that should work, hum?

One more thing, this 430EX also works via wifi? I don't think i'd use it now but i also don't think i'd like to spend more money on another flash some years later.

Thanks!

reception, vows, anything else where that whining sound is not welcome

every pro level flash has been silent

enjoy your Splinter Cell night vision sound, gearfag

It's not like I care as long as the photos look good.

oh, just shut the fuck up, the 430 sound is not THAT loud, you hear it because it´s 3 inches away from your fucking ear.

>>211568

i will.. that sound is killer

>>211573

uh.. go in a large silent room that has a lot of echo, fire it remotely, you can hear it from one end to the other

again, someone has never done weddings in a church

fucking gearfags
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
It is rather loud, but all and all I don't really see most people needing anything stronger unless they're shooting a lot of fast pace stuff. The cycle time on the weaker power settings is fast enough for occasions of faster situations anyway.

You can it to MAXIMUM FIRE POWER and it will burn the pigment out of black jeans and other similar set ups, like black sharpie on paper with a nice little pop sound and a puff smoke. Has to be right up to it though.

Oh wow.. did you buy your camera because it's big and looks professional?

Holy shit, I didn't think it was possible on here, you actually WANT the loud shutter? Fuck that noise.
>> Anonymous
Fuck the shutter noise. I have a 400D, and wish it would at least shut the fuck up when trying to stay stealthy.

nothing says stealth like a full size SLR...

Fucking. Idiot.

buy a rangefinder if you want stealth.

Much rage for fags that aren't flexible with language.

Of course a DSLR isn't anything close to a rangefinder in terms of stealth, but it's not close to the fucking price either.

The XTi is -way- noisier than a D80, for example.

Rangefinders are still loud and hueg as fuck compared to today's digital compacts. Well, if you can tolerate the image quality.
>> okto !.ZlrOYZhsk
Dear Anon: Nobody gives a shit about anything you think about your Rebel.
IT'S A REBEL. "Rebel" is Canonese for "cheap". Of course it's too loud/quiet/fast/slow/big/small/black/silver. It's the cheapest thing Canon makes, and you got exactly what you paid for.
Now STFU and post some of your Goddamn pictures.

Rangefinder?Leica. My Canonet cost $5.

yeah, because in weddings the people are not allowed to breath or sneeze or bring damn noisy childrens.

and btw, NO ONE IN THE CHURCH FUCKING CARES ABOUT THE RELOADING SOUND OF YOUR FUCKING FLASH.

Fix´d fucker.

>I don't know how to spell the past tense of "to pay" or make my subjects and verbs agree. Also, I am a tremendously insecure fag.

Double fix'd.

If wedding guests don't like the sound of your flash recharging - well, fuck them, it's the groom and bride who matter.
If the groom doesn't like the sound, check to see if the bride is also male.
If the bride doesn't like the sound, then it looks like our /p/hotographer has to SLAP A BITCH!

PROTIP: the shutter sound is much sharper, louder and more distracting than the flash recycle. Use a Cyber-Shot if you want your camera to be silent.

the big flash of light sorta kills the stealthness anyway

Sup.

430EX is great. 580EX is better, if you can afford it. Higher guide number and can act as a master.
>> Anonymous
>And I actually like the recharging sound.

Same. I have the new 580, bbut I miss the sound as a guide.

And for people saying "what about at silent events blablabla" well, you just fired a fucking FLASH, so you're not exactly mister subtle, so unless you're shooting a charity for the blind people have already noticed.

The 430 doesn't make a bad first purchase. Later on, you'll get the 580 and use it the 430 as your off-camera slave. The master ability doesn't mean squat until you get another flash anyway.
