Picked up a great second hand 20mm F2.8 today - it's so wide most of my test shots have my shadow in them

But it's less wider then your kit lens. Why would you want this ?

I'd reckon for two reasons;

1) sharper than the kit lens
2) f/2.8, instead of f/3.5-4
3) less barrel distortion and color fringing
4) profit!

You read my thoughts and put them on the internet, I should sue you but you're so right I'll let it go.

I haven't used the kit lens in ages, been out at 28mm and beyond so it's nice to get a bright little prime wider than the favourite cheapo 50mm.

Haha. The 50mm f/1.8 Mk2? It's awesome. Even if it's plastic and cheap as hell, probably one of the best lenses available.
