So, I got into a motorcycle accident today.

I had my camera in a lowepro backpack on my back, and it fell with me, of course.

Well, I waited for the cops, got it towed, then rushed off to my assignment, which was right down the street.

40D and the 70-200 made it through FLAWLESSLY and tracked effortlessly at 2.8. Canon sure makes awesome cameras.

Or both.

And by the way, most other DSLRs probably would've, too. There's no patent on MagicCameraGuard 9000. Nikon, Pentax, etc. all make 'em the same way.

Leica, on the other hand, has MagicCameraGuard 18000: A Leicaflex SL2 with a motordrive and a 35mm Summicron fell from a fighter jet flying at 25,000 feet and survived, body, lens, and drive. What it was doing either mounted externally, or some photographer throwing the canopy open and dropping it, I don't know.

My F5 has been though some pretty rough times with me, i dropped it again from a fair height the other week, but this time something go knocked out of aligned (bad back focusing problem), so i'm getting it recalibrate right now. The guy at the Nikon repair center said its not a big deal and will be good as new. The F5 is built from left over tank parts its so strong :/

But i also can say my D70 has been very durable since i got it back in 2004. I feel they are built stronger than we handle them as.

submerged my fm2 in three feet of swiftly flowing water for about two minutes with no ill effect. the roll of film that was in it developed normally as well.

knocked my D80 off my desk several times already and my mom was like "oh geez you just broke your camera" and i was all like "lol nope"

I once used my Digital Rebel XTi as a bludgeoning weapon to fend off an attacking hoard of zombies with no ill effects other than a little bit of decaying brain gunk on the filter.

I'm a construction worker who mostly does photography as a hobby, and I regularly use my D200 with 18-200mm VR as a hammer because I don't like carrying both around.

My 5D got thrown into the event horizon of a black hole around Christmas last year. The clock was a bit off when I got it back, but nothing else was wrong with it. Canon really makes good cameras.

Probably just small bugs or bits of grass in the sunlight

2.8 will pick up everything on that plane of focus and make it appear sharp compared to everything else that's out of focus.
