Shit that makes you RAGE about photography.

For me, it's HDR, lame picture frames, and shitty Flickr communities. Pic and links related.

Piece of shit faggots who go out and take a random picture with their piece of shit point and shoot, go home, Photoshop the fuck (colour correction, contrast, sharpening) out of it, and then posting it on this shitty web site. There's no form, no depth.

I remember this one community I went to, some faggot posted black and white photos of a snow storm, with a 3 second exposure, as cars drove by.

THEY WERE FUCKING AWED. "OMG, THAT IS SO GUD, IS THAT NATURAL?"

It rages me.

Stuck up photographers who think they're better than everyone else out there.
A lot of photographers I've met at events or fashion shows are like that.. Then when I get home and check out their portfolio, they usually suck ass.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with the people flickr? I escaped from dA in frustration over all the 14 year old "artists" and fucked up titles, but im going back right now. After a few months of flicker, I cant take it any more. 40 year old moms take pics of their flowers before applying some shit they learned in a video tutorial involving shadows/highlights. Then they post it, and 20 different adult groups want the mom to join them. 90% of the pics are absolute crap, and 70% of the people are over 40.

tl;dr:
Deviantart: alot of teens, some of which takes good pics, and some older people - often with great skills.
Flickr: Old people with no skills what so ever, taking bad pics, and getting great response.

Wedding photographers with the technical and compositional skills of a four year old. Yet still think they are hot shit.

I meet them all the time, Their Rebel XT's (not all but the vast majority) and their 18-55 and 70-300 IS lenses. They saturate the market here (a market i'm not even that interested in competing with).
Its not that they are harming me financially in some way, but they still annoy me.
I don't even like the idea of spending a lot of money on weddings, but for gods sakes people, its the one time photographers skill counts.

Also I don't like photographers who aren't willing to share information, like their craft is somehow a big secret that they must hold on to. The same people will tell you that their HDR pic was just "good lighting".

That and people being too fucking nice when critiquing pictures. Thats why I love this board! I go on other sites and have kneejerk reactions to tell people their shit looks like.. shit!
>> Christopher !LQd6JHwoaQ
People who don't respect other photographers, regardless of their work, people who seem to forget we've all been there. If they have a big ego and think they're the shit, who cares, do you're own thing, it's not you're job to let them know what you think. Learn to let things go, your "rage" will only hold you back.
>> Hi Anonymous
Experienced photographers who treat fresh-faced photographers like shit, because they're still learning. I'm still learning, i'd appreciate constructive critisism rather then "you're picture is shit".

My "rage" has never held me back, I rage at most of the posts on here and I'm still successful (well ok that started long before 4chan, but I raged at people before this place too)
>> Christopher !LQd6JHwoaQ
>>149932

well I guess i'm saying raging to the point where it makes you crazy, like actually letting get to you. It's fine and good to state an opinion, but if the other person is too hard headed to let it in, then who gives a fuck, don't spend your energy on them.

Criticism is good especially here where people aren't afraid to be blunt and straight to the point
>> noko
The pretentiousness that invariably follows any creative craft, like design, fine art, commercial art, musicianship, etc. - You all know what I'm talking about, assholes who refine it so much that it's like you have to be born with divine karma to make anything out of it. The same people who pronounce "photography" like Tom Hanks pronounces "da Vinci!" in The da Vinci Code.

And...

Camera enthusiasts, people who spend more time talking and caring about their gear than the pictures they shoot. Even the limited specs of a D40 only matter so little if you consider a user who can simply work around that. The result will remain spectacular.

The sad part about this board is that namefags can use their name and trip for posting pics that may suck, and still troll or post stupid critisism under anonymous.

The number one thing that pisses me off more than anything about photography is gear whores. People who obsess about their and, most irritatingly, other people's gear. Second is people who are more interested in the technical details (lens, aperture, shutter speed) than the actual photo. Third is people who give advice and claim to be experts when they've been taking pictures for two weeks and only know what they read on ken rockwell's website.

And a bonus fourth, applicable only to /p/, is tripfags. The only thing that makes /p/ less shitty than all the other photo communities on the net is anonymity. I hate those who fucking fail to understand and comply with that. If you want a name, go somewhere else... most of them require it.

I make more money through photography than you probably earn from whatever shitty day job you have. I am head of photography for a degree course and I get most of my money through advertisement. I've done work for a lot of big names in the past (skate/snowboarding and surf clothing mainly - Billabong, O'Neill, DC, among others) and been sent all over the world (came back from China a few weeks ago). I've been doing photography for just over 25 years now, more years than most of you have been able to pick up a camera.

From the comments:
>Amazing work! You have such a skill with this
>treatment--you even make a dude wearing an odd had
>look like art!

I don't get it. As Woody Allen once implied, in "Annie Hall", that critical evaluation of photography work still hadn't reached the point of, for example, paint or sculpture, and so it became very difficult to separate what can be considered art, and what isn't.

Even today there still lives a discrepancy of opinions, ranging from "just luck" or "simply reflected light on a film" to "instaart".
But it's not a single work to be contested. It's the entire medium.

I like tho think that a masterwork is a deep and intimate shot, that only its author could achieve, a perfect combination of inspiration, timing and vision.

I think we seeing photography still in its infancy. as we saw Donatello learning from Brunelleschi, seeing it going by incert and sometimes goofy steps. I am very worried that this "instaArt for dummies" fashion will only take to extreme elitarianism; even without going too far you can already find early traces of it in classicist and gear crusaders.

So, Depressed Cheesecake, count me on. Not as a presumed artist, but as a fan and lover of photography. The others please excuse this mine few words.

TL;DR: BAWWWWWW instaART

oh god. I REALLY HATE THOSE.

Considering I work for a camera company tech support, it pisses me off when I hear the words "I'm a professional" and then asking me basic lighting and composition questions, or worse, "where's the on switch." If you're a "professional," why the fuck are you calling ME for?

Normally I post on other boards, but I saw>>150138
and it rages the hell out of me to see people buy $9000 of equipment to make what looks like the equivalent of little kids doing MySpace angles for "actual work". You can make better pictures with a pack of gum point and shoot if you compose right.
