Hey /p/, I want to get into photography, I have a digital camera (Nikon CoolPix 3200) :Details http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25518

And I was wondering if there were any good books I can read to get started with Digital Photography. Not just the tech side of it either, but the art, the theory I guess.

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Shitty pic I took included.

Basic Photography by Michael Langford. It's dense and technical, and it will make you a pretty good photographer if you use it as a base. I have the 5th edition, and it doesn't cover digital photography, but the concepts are the same with a few nuances here and there.

also exposure to good photography, you can read theory all you want but you also have to know what to look for.

Yep. I suggest finding a professional photographer you like and deconstructing their style. Emulating is a good way to learn the various elements of photography while developing your own style.

That camera really isn't gonna do. It's the kind of camera you take pics of you and ur homiez wit for ur xanga. I suggest picking up a 35mm film format Pentax slr body and 50mm prime lens. (Unless you want to shell out big bux and get a dSLR)

Don't get any books on digital photography. Just look for books on photography. Kodak's "The Joy of Photography" is a good start.

Books that are specifically targeted at *digital* photography just talk about things like picking the right digital camera, how to email photos, the difference between types of memory cards, photoshopping, and other such nonsense. While the books on film photography usually have a "Choosing your camera" chapter or two, they also have a lot about actually taking good pictures.
