dear /p/,
please give me some advice.
i'm a photoshop 6 user on windows and i'm thinking about upgrading ... is cs2 worth the money, or is there maybe an upgrade. i've used the trial some time ago. on the other hand, might elements be enough?

(hardware side shouldn't be so much of a problem. x2 @ 2.4ghz and 3gb of ram. and two samsung f1, 1tb each)

Photoshop.... money??

Just pirate the software. That'll show those bastards for charging 500+ dollars for something you can get for free via pirating.

If you don't want to be a filthy pirate, there's always the option of Gimp. Might take some retraining if you're used to the PS way of doing things, but it's free and legal and gives you 90% of photoshop's capabilities.

CS3 has better RAW processing, and smarter contrast / saturation adjusting than CS2
Also the photomerge for panoramics is smarter / faster.

Other than that though, its the same as CS2.
I would recommend CS2 over photoshop 6 though, for Smart sharpen and Noise reduction if nothing else

Agreed.
I have no idea how someone can still be using Photoshop 6.
Anything prior to Photoshop CS is utter shit in comparison.

Didn't think someone would save it.

If you know anyone in the right Uni or college course you can buy it through them cheaper. There are always great academic discounts for these things.

1) Fuck you.
2) Photoshop is fucking overpriced.
3) Pirating is TOO FUCKING EASY NOT TO DO IT.

Yah ok, if it was hard to pirate or if Photoshop wasn't so outrageously expensive I might consider it, but given the current situation there's no way I'm going to buy that shit, ESPECIALLY with how they keep coming out with a new version every 12 months and the upgrade is always at least $100+.

op here.
that might be an option. gimp would be great if there was an easy to use photomerge function. (only read about scripts that can do something like that. also the results are not really convincing me)

It's not expensive, especially not the upgrade. Get a job.
>coming out with a new version every 12 months
Just because it's new doesn't mean you have to upgrade.
