Evenin /p/hotographers,

I need a camera for some very amateur photography work. I have no professional experience, and I'm planning to take pictures of my own body (progress shots for weight loss) and pictures of the meals I prepare.

I have very shaky hands, though. So keeping in mind that I'm an amateur who'll never use the advanced features, but also bearing in mind I need a camera with a very strong image stabilizing feature, can you please recommend a camera?

This.

This is actually a better model than the 590; I have no clue why it's knocked down so much, but yeah, go for it.

Can't buy it... I'm in Canada. It's $200 from Amazon.ca

Canadians can't use amazon.com :( And it's $170 from Best Buy Canada.

Well, you're not going to get much cheaper than the A590 IS. Look used. Look for IS and if possible A-series.

And OP, if the OP pic is you, where do you plan on losing weight from? You look pretty skinny.

Get any second hand P&S camera off of eBay that has image stabilisation of any sort if you can see it cheap enough. Look at new first though so you know what is a reasonable price for new and keep that in mind to compare to old.

get a cheap used 3MP or more ps camera from a name brand (25€?) and a table tripod (5€) or a real tripod (from 15€), which you will need anyway if you want to shoot your body.
