the average salary for someone with a degree in photojournalism is $24,090. All the kids with fine art photo degrees that I know work at Starbucks.
photography is either a hobby or art. Hobbies don't earn you money, and all artists die poor.
Oh, and to make it as a stock photographer, you'd have to produce 100-200 sellable photos every day. Considering that maybe one out of every 10 photo you would make is sellable, you'd have to shoot essentially nonstop for ten hours a day.
And that's only if you can find a stock agency willing to buy 200 photos from you every day. The real number is far lower. If you want to make money in photography (you won't, but it's worth a try), go pick up a copy of the Photographer's Market 2007. It's basically a big phone book of all the stock agencies, magazines, big newspapers, etc. plus several very helpful chapters on contracts, copyrights, insurance, basically everything you need.
