so i played with a 40d today at circuit city, ill proly have one within the next couple weeks, but i must be retarded because i couldnt find the a/v button that on most canon's you change the aperture with in manual mode. can any canonfags shed some light on this for me? im not new to cameras at all, but i couldnt figure it out for the life of me.

i think its the big dial on back that selects aperture, from what i read. but im fairly certain i tried that, maybe the display camera was bad. thanks bro!

it should be the big wheel on the back.

Make sure the command dial is turned on.

Yeah, back wheel does aperture, front grip wheel does shutter speed. In manual mode, at least. I only think I've used the 40D in Av once or twice, and never with exposure compensation, but I imagine the shutter speed dial works that in Av mode.

but what can you do, all their cameras have it

if you're used to how the rebel does it, you can change it to that in the custom functions menu. I think if you set the autofocus select points to be controlled with the qcd then the af button becomes the aperture button.
