>>118404 No, something based on the 135-based digital, with a sensor in between that and MF digital, biased towards the size of 135 and able to maybe use some of its lenses. It'd at least be able to use PC lenses.
Medium format's cheapest system is that $9,999 Mamiya, with a 48x36mm sensor back. Shaving 12mm off a sensor probably will lower the price a bit, especially if the exact idea of the companies is to compete against digital medium format by offering a camera with a similar feature set, compatibility with their existing system (even if not in lenses, in accessories, flashes, etc.) and a square ratio (not too important in practice, but it would be a selling point for people who miss their old 6x6 cameras) at a cheaper price than any medium format system. Probably somewhere between what the price of a 5D replacement and a 1Ds Mk. III would be. It wouldn't have all the weatherproofing, ultra-fast shutter, 45 autofocus points and all that, but it would have a larger sensor.
