I'd go with the K10D- it may be a bit more, but it has a few extra features that would be worth paying for.

The 18-55mm lens is good for a kit lens, but I outgrew mine pretty fast. It is, however, a good lens to figure out what sort of focal length you like.

The 50-200mm I have no experience with, but have heard mixed reviews. Look up the Sigma 70-300mm (similarly priced) and see what people have to say about that.

With a 50-200mm lens, you would usually be taking pictures of things in the "far away" category- a good example is wildlife photography. Long focal lengths are also more suited to portraiture, so you could give that a go as well.

Hope that answered your questions.

what do you think of the price?

You can't buy K10Ds new anymore (aka, Pentax doesn't make them anymore). They've been replaced by the K20D. You can, however get K10Ds used for around $500 (usually body only, but sometimes you get at least the 18-55). Best place to get that price is over at the Pentax fourms at www.pentaxforums.com.

I'm using a K10D and it's been great to me.

Price seems alright, but I haven't been in the market for a new camera since getting my own K10D back in January and thus don't know the going rates.
