I've got a little problem with photosnapping without flash..

You see, when I take pictures with flash On, they come out pretty focus and good, but when I turn it off (like in the picture) it takes the camera a second or half a second more before saving the picture, which usually results in distortion in the picture..

My camera is a Canon Powershot G7

Is there any way to counter this problem? (other than putting the camera on a steady tripod)

No, can't do that. What you need is a faster lens.

Or shoot at a higher ISO (the shot there was ISO160) - try 200, maybe 400 unless you want fine detail.. Anything over that will be noise city.

So, yep;

1) Use a tripod (1/8th second exposure is too long for handheld really)
2) Use a higher ISO to give you a shorter exposure
3) Get a faster lens (f/1.4 or something) - except you can't do that, because you can't change lenses on a G7.

Also, I think you can mount a more serious flash on that G7, right? That would be a lot better than that tiny built in crap.

Dude, it's a Canon Powershot G7. You can't change the lens.

220EX, 430EX, and 580EX will work automagic on the G7, apprently
Probably cheaper to go with a good thyristor that's known to be modern-camera safe.

actually there's something removable on the camera.. kinda like a white circular frame on the lens, and you can put something on it..

Yeah, you can stick on a little widget to let you use filters, and it'll also let you stick on a teleconverter or wide-angle converter to get you a bit more range, but that won't give you a wider aperture, which is what he means by "faster lens".

Well, maybe the wide will. I'm not entirely sure of the physics involved.

They'll also degrade your image quality a bit. I'd recommend against 'em.
