there should be a greek letter which looks like an 'o' with a line through it like this /. The number next to that is the filter size.

The letter is this:
ø
ø

You see the o with the line through it? That's the filter size you need.

52mm.

P sized

Please buy a 55mm. I want to see you trying to make it fit :D.

If you search carefully, on the bottom of the lense (when mounted) it reads:
DX SWM ED Aspherical ?-0.28m/0.92ft ø52

the ø52 is your filter size. 52mm.

Wouldn't it be better to buy a 77mm or something like that along with a couple of step down rings? It is quite expensive but if you want to to buy new lenses with other filter sizes, you won't have to buy a new filter.

Don't worry, it's for a kitlens. It's probably gonna be in the pricerange of $20-$30 and after taking 4 pictures with it he'll realise it's not all that great at all.
>> elf_man !!DdAnyoDMfCe

That kit lens is actually a lot better than you'd expect. And buying a reasonable quality filter will be that much better.

YOu must be kidding?
You think I bought it because i've got money to burn? Hell, it's an awesome versatile lens, for extremo cheapo.
But the stuff I shoot with an 18-55 just don't require a polarizer.
It's fun for landscapes, but 18mm just doesnt cut landscapes for me.

wow, someone has never heard of step down rings

I have a Hama circular polarizer for my D40, 52mm one (they measured it at the store cos the kit lens didn't say)

after reading this post, you just sound like a huge fucking faggot
>> elf_man !!DdAnyoDMfCe
>>151531
um, okay? First you said he'd realize it's not that great a lens, now you say it's good. WTF?
And you never said anything about having it yourself, so why would I be saying anything about you having money to burn?

It gets better. A 55 with step down is preferred over a 52 IMO. You get more over all light while cutting down the glare.

Do what now?

I don't know what you think you read in elf_man's post, but it wasn't what he said.
