ITT Evil.

(Incidentally, I've posted a picture of this guy before. I got yelled at because I, quote, "have a car and a camera and he doesn't have anything more than what he's wearing".

I see this guy a lot on my drive to work, and he has several changes of clothes. Implies he also has a home to keep them in. He's just slovenly, he's not homeless)

apparantly it is. Me and a friend spent some time doing just that a week or so ago and after a while, random events made us get interrogated by the police...

Obviously we hadn't done anything wrong so they just let us go after asking a few questions, but the people who called the police are still people who deserve to die becuase they are so stupid as to think that we may not photograph whoever the fuck we want.

And to the op picture;
I quite like it. If you lined it up with some more pictures and mayhap a story or two for each picture.

Streetphotograpy can be the most awesome thing ever, but you need to present it well.

Show me, and tell me, more

Photographing random people without asking first is how Garry Winogrand got the photos he did. The laws governing use of photos you take without the poser's permission is in place more to protect anyone when those pictures show up as slander or libel. It's also in place to give the police more of a chance to go after a stalker. It really should not in any case pertain to someone who is a photographer who takes pictures trying to get that perfect shot worthy of the title "art." Unfortunately in court this is not always upheld, as whoever strikes first usually ends up with the upper hand.

I suppose I should think about things like that more... now I'm just tying to get the photo wihtout any bigger idea, which is sometimes a bit hard since I'm still new and have never shot to film before. And the stupid camera is full manual :P

Btw, underexposed photos really suck on film :( Everything gets filled by dark green blotches, which don't look good at all. I really need to learn to overexpose a bit (and in this case, focus too).

Remember kids! Public place = no reasonable expectation of privacy = fair game.

When I say story, I do not mean made up story, but rather the actual thing that made you snap that shot.

I just want to know what it's about, as I'm not living in your town and wasn't there at the moment.

Where are they? why is there water? are they a couple?

just those kind of things, and what you thought when you snapped it.

The best example I can think of is awesome http://severinkoller.blogspot.com/ which I think is real good.

Just a little caption. And preferrably some more pictures from the same occassion or whatever

also full manual = everything you should ever need.

If you're used to anything else, stop being so and get used to full manual.

This is of course just my opinion, but everything manual is the only way to go.

If people say "boohoo, but you get to take your pictures faster when you're in A because you don't have to think about those things"
The kick them in the face and stomp them in the face when they hit the ground.

With enough practice you will not need the lightmeter, you will know pretty much what settings to use.
You will know how to get to those settings,
and you will only have to think about framing because all the manual stuff will come automatically because you have learned how to use it. You will learn to react and become just as fast as full auto, and much more reliable.

Just practice.

Full manual = everything there is and everything you'll ever need.

+ it's hardcore 'cause all the noobs use automatic and that shows you're not a noob. And you do not want to be a noob now, do you?

I do like how it cames out. yeah focus could have been better, but still has an atmosphere.

PROTIP: expose for shadows, develop for lights!

In colour, just expose for shadows. Don't be afraid to overexpose by even 1.5EV, especially on consumer grade negatives (they have enough latitude for this). Maybe even set it on your camera, to not bother with remembering (if your camera does not allow manually setting film ISO, change your camera, and learn to hack DX codes until you do so). Sometimes it's actually the only way to get vibrant colours from them, esp if they were stored in crappy conditions (that is, not in a fridge).

This goes for negatives, for slides it's exactly the opposite.
