Lens? Anonymous
Hey guys! I just got a decent amount of money for the holidays and was thinking of getting a new lens. I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi.

I like taking pictures of landscapes and mostly of architectural pieces (buildings). Any suggestions that aren't outrageously priced? Thanks

At the very least you're going to have to decide if you want a wide-angle, normal or telelens. Zoom or not? Telling us what you consider 'a decent amount of money' might help... $200? 600? 1800? What lens(es) do you have now? What do you need that your current gear can't do? Optical quality? Bigger apertures? More range?
Here's how this works: we can't tell you what you need, you're going to have to THINK about it. Come back after you manage that.

keh.com for great used pieces at sane prices
a 20mm would give you 32mm, which should be more than workable for that kind of thing. If you need something wider, back up. If you can't back up, save for a fisheye ;)
For zooms, no clue. I hear that the Tokina 12-24 is the current king of inexpensive wide on dslrs but I've *not* used it.

my friend told me that for mostly architectural photography, as well as some possible landscapes, that a wide angle prime, or ef-s 10-22 would be nice. any thoughts on that?
