Sup /p/

My parents advised me to buy some shares while I was working, which I did (and lost money on).

Nikon D90 with a 18-105mmVR is $1730. Just checked my shares are worth $1760. Is this a sign?

This is where I need your help - what lense should I be looking at? This will be my first proper DSLR (currently own fuji finepix S602) so I am not familiar with the lenses available. Am I right in thinking the 18-105 would be the best to start out with (assuming I wont have more funds for a while)?

I usually prefer macro photography but I'd like to start experimenting with landscapes as well. Is there anything you can recommend that would be better suited?

How long have you held onto your shares?

It'll be just the thing for documenting the collapse of global capitalism and the humanitarian crisis no one will have the resources to solve.

Though I'm not too sure the leftover $30 will fill too many wheelbarrows.

About two years. I know now is not a good time to sell but I keep thinking that a decent camera would be much more valuable to me than some numbers on a website.

That combo can be had for $1300 - http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/541532941.htm

I would start with a cheaper camera, a used D50 or D80, but that lens is looking nice.
