I use a 4-set of Duracell rechargable AA's (green and black, like yours I assume) and a set of these green and blue ones from BestBuy, they're called Dynex, that came with a 15 minute charger (charges 4 at a time) Only time I had the batteries run out in such a short time space was the very first time with those dynex ones, which I assume was a fluke, since they've lasted plenty long since then. I usually go out for 3 hours or so when I shoot. However, I'm used to shooting film, so I don't take a terribly large amount of pictures. Maybe 30 or 40 per outing. Depends on how many places I go. Also, after they charge, I just leave them in my camera bag, for when I need to replace them.
