Some of the most fun portraits are ones where you leave the shutter open for extended periods, and capture motion. With some skill and luck, you can generate some pretty interesting effects. Not only do you have to have a camera with that function (obviously), but you also need to know how to work the aperature manually so that you don't overexpose your film. Helps to have a second pair of hands if you want to do a self portrait. Also, I might suggest a plunger so you dont vibrate the camera by pressing the shutter (unless that produces the effect you want)
