thanks for all the tips and examples. I too was annoyed by the cromabs on the branches and eagle. the tip on desaturating the color helped..... I think
I used silver efex pro plugin to make the tree look a little more like a birch tree, the filter seemed to fit in, and that also helped to get rid of the cromabs on the branches.
I used Tiffen DFX 2 to add a cloud diffusion to the flat rain/overcast background. the cloud effect seemed to go with the brightening/contrast adjustments to the Eagle and Tree.
some things about the picture are beyond saving, and I don't want to make it look over-processed, but then again the end result will not be viewed by a /p/ro, so I think I am allowed some margin of error.
