What does /P/ think about the the Canon EOS 400D(~$800) compared to the Nikon D200(~$1200). Also which would you buy and why.

Thanks

I'd buy the D200, only because Ive already got Nikon glass and just happen like Nikon.

I too would go for the D200 because I have ~5 Nikkor lenses.

Comparing the entry-level 400D to the mid-level D200 is a bit odd of you. Basically, it'll boil down to this: The D200 has more features, but the 400D has four hundred bucks still in your pocket to spend on a nice lens.

Me, I'd go with the 400D and a reasonably nice lens or two to stick on the front.

yeah the d200 and the 400d aren't in the same class. the d200 is a much better built body with more features. i havent used the d200 but ive felt one up and used the 400d.

yeah, as ac says the glass can make a big fucking difference.

I don't know much about the Nikon, but I guess it's somewhere along the lines of the canon 30d, better ISO performance, faster shutter, more rugged body, spot metering... yadda yadda.

If you can do without those, get the 400D.
If you don't understand any of that, get the 400D. Or a P&S camera ?\(ยบ_o)/?
