Hay, /p/.

I'm thinking of starting a project for this year; sort of a cross between street and documentary photography. Documenting a 54-kilometer stretch of highway but focusing on the people that use it.

Being self-taught and without any formal training, I would like to ask for some pointers on how to do a photo-project. What to look out for, what not to do, that kind of stuff. Does /p/ has any ideas?

Pic not related (but taken by me).

I don't think I can be of much help here since I've never taken on a project nor have training of any sorts.

One thing I can suggest is CONSISTANCY

Your project sounds mad cool, good luck

I was thinking about that so I won't be starting this project 'til May when I get a new camera (consistency in the look of the photo). I'm also keeping the time of day in check so when viewed in sequence, the photos won't look like morning, morning, noon, morning, night, night, morning etc etc.

I don't think the time of day thing is a good idea. Shoot in the morning, and you'll just get the sort of people who use it in the morning. Shoto at night, you'll get just the sort of people who use it at night.

Get consistancy by having a strong style and vision, instead of just shooting them all in the same light.

I see what you're getting at and now I'm having a better understading for consistency. Much thanks :)
