Dear /p/,I currently have a D40 but am not sure whether or not I should upgrade.I really want the 50mm lens and it is awesome, but should I manually focus it, or upgrade to a.. d50, d60, d70.. etc (suggetsions, please?).In return, a picture of my cat with its tongue sticking out.Taken with the D40, but not intended to be good (hence why it is not).EXIF data available. If you really want to autofocus with the 50mm then you should go for the Nikon D80 imo.Still, you don't really need autofocus with a 50mm anyway, plus you can learn a lot when manually focusing.
Nikon just announced a 50/1.4 at PMA that'll AF on the D40.That sentence would be completely inscrutable to people who aren't camera nerds.
>>273729Is it bad that I am OP and understood it?But that sounds good. I'll keep my light-as-a-feather D40 for now, and learn to become better at manual focus. Yes?
>>273730Good plan. And I have to assume that Nikon will be coming out with AF-S versions of its other fast primes eventually. If for no other reason, it'll let them start dropping AF motors from their higher-end cameras so everyone will have to buy all new lenses again.
>>273732This is all good, as it'll broaden the potential market for them, but.. WHY CANT WE HAVE A 50/0.95 :(
>>273734Nikon concentrates more on lenses that people actually want to use to take pictures rather than on lenses that make your penis larger.
>>273743That's why they have like seven equally slow 18-*** lenses in their lineup, hurr
>>273744That is a valid point.
>>273743unlike Canon, yes? ;-)
>>273570What the fuck are you talking about? It doesn't work like that at all.
