That's pretty badass. Does the circuit only load 1 capacitor at a time, or does it add 1 capacitor per switch?.... Also, can it add the first and last capacitors to the circuit without the middle two?
>>198407Got the schematic?
>>198408Wut, Martin, I ain't OP.
What has science done?
ADD MORE! WE SHALL BURN THE SUN!
>>198407I can choose the main capacitor, or any combination of the external capacitor.50uF, 22uF, 10uF and 4.7uF>>198408pic related>>198411Mwahahaha
wut is da recycle time? and how do u no its rdy?
That flash is made of ghetto and win.I guess my ghetto-modded 40mm Hexanon is related to this thread.Camera-Specific Properties:Equipment MakeKONICA MINOLTACamera ModelDiMAGE X60Camera SoftwareAdobe Photoshop CS3 WindowsMaximum Lens Aperturef/3.9Focal Length (35mm Equiv)79 mmImage-Specific Properties:Image OrientationTop, Left-HandHorizontal Resolution72 dpiVertical Resolution72 dpiImage Created2008:06:06 00:03:46Exposure Time1/90 secF-Numberf/3.9Exposure ProgramNormal ProgramISO Speed Rating50Brightness5.7 EVExposure Bias0 EVMetering ModePatternLight SourceUnknownFlashFlash, AutoFocal Length13.20 mmColor Space InformationsRGBImage Width1024Image Height768RenderingNormalExposure ModeAutoWhite BalanceAutoScene Capture TypeStandardGain ControlNoneContrastNormalSaturationNormalSharpnessNormalSubject Distance RangeClose View
>>198516Oh hi, I didn't know that gr 7 kids were on this forum.
Oops, made a mistake in previous schematic, correct version now.>>198407I can choose the main capacitor, or any combination of the external capacitor.50uF, 22uF, 10uF and 4.7uF>>198408pic related>>198411Mwahahaha
>>198527Thanks OiD for the schematic. Will have a play around with this idea at some point, maybe introducing vari-cap's, etc.
>>198510LOL>>198516There is a tiny neon lamp indicator on the back that lights up when it is ready to fire.Cycle time on;4.7uF cap is ... 5 flashes per second10uF cap is... 2 or 3 flashes second22uF cap is... 1 flash second50uF cap is... 1 flash every two secondsMain cap is... 1 flash every 5 secondsAnd the 16 power combinations vary in between above values>>198521I envy your neat lens mod
>>198394I hope you don't mind if I steal that idea.Certified win, mate.
>>198536After reading your initial post, I thought about creating a flash head from scratch. It then hit me about how I'd go about making a 'ready' indicator.Do you know how I'd work a LED into the schematic/circuit to indicate when the capacitors are charged?Being a complete novice when it comes to electronics, and only previous construction being a basic, and very unstable 1w FM transmitter - My skills and knowledge are limited :P
>>198536So the stock indicator lamp works with the modded capacitors?
>>198545hmmm... provably a resistor and a LED across the caps, maybe with a zener diode. Neon lamps just have a resistor because the conduct at high voltages. Google for some DIY flash.>>198575Yeah, well, on cheappo flashes yes. All the indicator does is light up when there is xx volts in the capsNow i need to see how long the flash duration is...
>>198521What's that mod for?
>>198617bayonet and flange ground off
>>198617mount modified to fit four thirds, chip fitted to enable MF confirm, IS and stuff like that
>>198394I class my project as a failure, flash duration is too long for highspeed photography. Plus the flash is miserable anyway xD
>>199083You always need a real strobe for high speed photog, a flash wont ever cut it.
