I know all you guys hate on Ken Rockwell, but right now - that doesnt matter. Hes wrote a really interesting article on the long awaited 11-16mm Tonika Wideangle. F2.8 or w/e it is. Super fast!

Personally, I don't hate Ken Rockwell. To me, he's more of a character I love to hate. He certainly is a better photographer than I am, but doesn't match up to the caliber of others in the field. He has developed some sort of commanding authority in the field. But, his popularity (as well as notoriety) derives from the internet and marketing.

In a way, I admire him for expressing his honest opinions on gear. He never claimed to give objective reviews in the first place. This is just the way he feels and if you have a problem with it, then deal with it. It's funny though when people rage over his articles because they take them to be closer to fact than opinion.

tokina makes good stuff, better than sigma and tamron

indeed. At times, tokinas build quality is better than expensive canon lenses.

really? i've personally never used a tokina lens, but i've never heard any one highly recommend them or go on about their quality. I guess maybe i shouldn't knock them before i try them.

Read Kens write-up, he gives them a GREAT review, and shows its quality compared to canikon lenses.

I can definitely attest to Tokina quality. I've played around with their 12-24, and it's built like a fucking tank. Love it.

Many of Pentax's lenses are built by Tokina, if that says anything.

I once bought a screw-on Tokina 2x multiplier... one of the worst-quality pieces of crap I've ever used in my entire life. The entire photo was refracted like a 3D picture. Maybe their actual lenses are better, but I'm very put-off by that experience.

Yeah, tokina builds really nice lenses and their stuff is really under appreciated but you can use that to your advantage. Last week I bought a Tokina 80-200 f2.8 AF lens for 350 bucks on the pentax mount. Needless to say, it was a ridiculously good deal and I'm getting great results from it.

The one I have from Tamron is pretty good. Much, much much better than Tokina.

Non-matched TC's tend to be pretty crap, the new matched APO ones (ie only works on 2-3 lenses) are good.
