I'm short on cash, but I need to shoot because I'm living in Japan currently. I've got a Pentax Super Program at home with a great f/2 50mm lens, but I couldn't bring it and I'm afraid to ship it. The Zenit122K seems like a really cheap version of what I'm used to working with. I know the body will probably break within a year since it's being sold by Lomo, but the lens on it seems really nice especially for the price.

Anyone have any hands on experience with one?

I can only afford a film camera at this point and I'd rather not use a zoom lens. Is it worth the low low price of 95 bucks?

The camera in question. The above pic was taken with the Super Program.

No, it's not worth 95 bucks - you could get an actual Pentax for that kind of money. Japan has a pretty wide selection of good used cameras.

If you're already buying stuff online just go on KEH and get a real camera.

122K doesn't suck as much cock as some other Zenits (E, KM, 312), but it's still a Zenit. Watch out for shutter jams.

In Japan, probably yes. In Russia, it goes for $20-50 depending on condition. Are you sure there aren't any Konicas/Minoltas/Nikons/etc. for the same 95 bucks?

I have kind of limited mobility and language ability. I guess I need to get off of my ass and poke around Nagoya or something.

Also, the only place that had used gear so far had a couple film Canon Rebels/Kiss and one Minolta that I'd never heard of before. All of them had 4-5.6 zoom lenses. I would rather have a fast lens than zoom.

I have a Yashica T4 with me that works well enough. I can pretty much guess at what I'm going to get, but it's still point and shoot full auto.

Honestly, it's really not that bad. The lenses are a great value (when they're in good condition).

If you are in Nagoya (weird people there, huh?) why not ask on www.fuckedgaijin.com from memory, there are a fair few people on there that live in Nagoya, some of them keen photographers too.

good luck and post your pics here if you can please
