What is WTF about the histogram?
>> Anonymous
The histogram for a painting, especially something so abstract as that, will look nothing like the histogram for a photograph of a natural subject.

If you're trying to match the color of the digital photo to the actual painting, i wouldn't even use levels, i'd use curves and selective color, and make sure you're white balance is set correctly

Ugh, throw some paint on a canvas and all of a sudden everyone thinks they're Jackson Fagfucking Pollock.

>>190152

I saw a woman squeeze paint out of her anus onto the canvas. Now that was art. This guy just isn't trying hard enough.

>>190172
He apparently also wasn't squeezing hard enough.

OP's friend is clearly a post-modern Pollock wannabe

Throwing paint on a canvas doesn't make you a painter in much the same way throwing some raw fish and a few dirty vegetables on a plate doesn't make you a cook.

>>190177

Define "art" then. That's just YOUR opinion.
>> The Pentacon !!XucVlAk1mCB

Art is anything that incites thought or emotion. OP's copycat friend does neither, as you can tell he did not even try.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>190191
this is a 10/10 every time.

any thread, any time, someone mentions art and you can _ALWAYS_ post this for an instant shitstorm.

So today /p/, dont do it.

Well with regards to this genre, Pollock was THE artist. He took art to new places that nobody had ever dared to venture and said "FUCK convention, I want something new". THIS is what made him such a visionary.

Every other faggot who's copied him since giving the whole "hey this is the expression of my inner emotion, it identifies blah blah blah" is just trying to rip off his style and get away with it.

It NEVER works.

except if you knew anything about art you would know pollock wasnt original in the slightest.

>>190214

yeah although there is a massive difference between opinion and informed opinion.

A Jackson Pollock incites thought and emotion in you? Go back to the emo LJ that you came from you Prozac munching self harming retard.

Protip: Everything incites thought.

Jackson Pollock inspires thought in me becaus his style is amongst the most defining and original in modern art.

The only thing the people who copy him inspire in me is rage.

Great, let me put a screw driver through my lens, piss on the sensor, and under/over expose an image and call it "revolutionary". People will love it because I am revolting against photography in general.

Pollock wasn't the first artist to do this, hes just the most famous for it. There is a massive difference. Hence a young painter doing this isn't copying anything that hasn't already been copied before. The fact you think that one style is somehow owned by is single artist is moronic.

also pollock is just as criticized as he is acclaimed.

lol IRL application of every post is repost. lulz

lol dint think of it like that but its true. there is no such thing as an original idea in art anymore. An earlyer reverance point can always be found.
>> Anonymous
>>190329

Everyone says there is no such thing as an original idea...until someone does something original.
>> Anonymous
>>190337

well, if everyone thought of something original, there would be no need for the saying right? Still very hard to find originality these days, just some really good rehashes, old stuff with new life (or maybe new tech) pumped into them.

>>190337

true but it vary rarely happens where an older reference point cant be found.
