did you think before you shot this? White balance is terrible, and you didn't even fit your dog in the frame. It is a cute dog, but there's nothing artistic about this photo of him.

and who said photography needs to be 'artistic', pretentiousfag?

the way i see it, photography can be artistic, but it isn't an intrinsic requirement. It's more like writing in a journal, to record places, things, thoughts, events, etc, and if it just so happens to be artistic, well, that's a bonus. And i think that's what OP was doing.

From Wikipedia:
>Photography (IPA: [f?'t?gr?fi] or IPA: [f?'t??gr?fi][1]) is the process and art of recording pictures by means of capturing light on a light-sensitive medium

From American Heritage Dictionary:
>pho·tog·ra·phy (f?-t?g'r?-f?) pronunciation
>n.
>1. The art or process of producing images of objects on photosensitive surfaces.
>2. The art, practice, or occupation of taking and printing photographs.

Columbia Encyclopedia:
>still photography, science and art of making permanent images on light-sensitive materials.

From wikipedia:
>Art refers to a diverse range of human activities, creations, and expressions that are appealing to the senses or emotions of a human individual.

From Britannica Encyclopedia
>A visual object or experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination.

So photography should be artistic but this can count as art. Commence shitstorm.

in these cases though, it means art like blacksmithing rather than art like the mona lisa.

which can be confusing, i admit, but its not quite the same thing.
