If you found an EOS 5D and an EOS 1Ds (original, not MkII or III) for the same price, which would you buy?

I would say the 5D, its smaller, lighter and most properly performs just as good if not better than the first gen 1Ds.

5D. No contest.

This is the only rational question in the thread so far.

The questions are:

1) Which body do you prefer?
2) If you prefer the 5D, are you willing to forego the full-coverage finder of the 1Ds?

That's pretty much it. Any DSLR with an APS-C sensor or larger will give enough image quality. There's people out there still shooting with Canon D30s. (No, not 30D. Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about.)

5D.
The original 1Ds is CCD-based and fails at noise and hot pixels, especially at long exposures.

eos5d&show=all
this should make it more easy

according to dpreview side by side, its CMOS the 1Ds.

There really aren't many differences between the two except the half million AF points in the 1Ds.

ahhh, must've confused it with the 1D non-"s". Then I'd go for the 1Ds, if it doesn't have OVER 90000 shutter actuations.
