/P/ have advice on improving my fail photos?

Ive been at photography for a few years but I dont seem to be improving :(

why don't start about fixing the colors and the exposure so it doesn't suck too much?

first you should learn the technical aspects better. for example, you probably should have shot this in shutter priority mode with a slow shutter speed as opposed to full manual.

Wait, that doesn't make any sense. It's exposed right for the water, if a little underexposed for the overall scene, so obviously using manual isn't much of a problem. And he certainly got the running water effect of a slow shutter speed.
The real problem is that there isn't anything interesting here. Just a boring stream. Look for better lighting, try different angles, or look for a subject that actually stands out. As it is, the rocks and trees are too much dead space; get closer or maybe try landscape to better emphasize the movement of the stream.

The shutter speed was as low as i could get it without my tripod handy.
