hi /p/
I'm looking for a camera, just something to start with and i want to know what specs to look out for. my Vivitar SLR has been busted for a long time and I think i want to go digital
doesn't have to be a Cannon rebel but a good digital

-digital
-good photo quality (is this megapixels?)
-doesn't need video
-rechargeable is a plus
-zoom

I'm looking used on craigslist and hoping for less than 150 as my budget
pic probably not related

If you don't want to go through the trouble of eBay, you can buy a Canon A590 IS for about $150 new. However, I just hate buying old technology since I have this misguided notion that Canon actually improves the tech in their successive camera models.

Before you buy, go look at some reviews and side-by-side comparisons at DPreview or a similar site.

1st of all, sounds like you want a point and shoot camera, correct?

2nd how much do you want to spend?

i dont care if it's point and shoot or manual with f-stop, focus, zoom whatever. if you know of a fancier, nicer one for less than 200, let me know. otherwise im stuck in pointandshootland

for point and shoot around that range I've always been happy with canon.

I would go with the PowerShot SD750 or something similar..

i have a canon ixus 50 which ive had for a few years, so i dont know if they still make those, but i must say that i really loved the ixus, so i would go for one of those... you can get really good pictures with it, its got 5 megapix which is more than enough...
also i just bought a rebel xsi 3 days ago and i think im in love with it, but it costs a bit more than 150...

but you should be able to find an ixus for something like that..
