Tne spider. Very quickly, even. In my case, the wasp didn't stand half a chance. Blurry shot due to fast action + wind swinging them both around like nobody's business.

I feel like the blur is acceptable in this case. This is very cool.

How'd you manage to get a spider catching something during daylight? I've had to go outdoors with a flashlight (and camera's built-in flash) to aid with either autofocus or giving me enough light to see if my manual focus was accurate.

(Photo taken with Pentax K10D, but filesize reduced via MS Paint. The "dirt" in the web is a combination of powder from the moth's wings and spider poop.)

Thank you. It's heavily shopped, tho. To get anything useful out of the shot I took. I've since learned the value of continuous shooting with fast-moving subjects.

Luck. I was there, trying to get a half-decent shot of the spider itself. It retreated to its corner because of wind. Then I just stood there, waiting for it to get back in the middle of its web, when a wasp came flying around the coerner. And smashed straight insto the huge web. If you let this kind of an opportunity pass and call yourself a photographer, it's time to become an hero. Later that evening I got a shot of the spider, too. Albeit slightly different. Backlit by a streetlamp.
