so I just got a kodak m753 camera with 7.0 megapixels. the problem is that my buddy has a 5 year old camera with only 3 megapixels, yet he can take extremely detailed close up shot of things like the grooves in his fingerprint. how come I can't?

MOAR MEGAPIXELS = BIGGER E-PEEN

Yup, that, or you need to turn on short distance focusing, otherwise the camera won't even try.

Hah. Megapixels. The other day, I heard some guy sitting across the table telling a friend "lol I bought a 10.1 megapixel camera the other day"... One would wish someone buying a DSLR would know that it's about more than just the megapixel but ahh, marketing. *sigh*

So wait, I bought this Hasselblad for no reason?

It means unlike the other people in this thread you can make large prints(24"+) that don't look like shit.

Ever make a 24"+ print from a 10 megapixel file?

Try it sometime. You might be surprised at how good it looks.

I made one from a 6megapixel file, and it looked great. It looked a little dumb if you put your nose right up to it, of course, but EVERYTHING looks bad that close up, and it's not how it's meant to be looked at anyway.
