Okay /p/, help me out here if you can. I just purchased this camera off eBay, it came in today and I installed the software and everything. Now I know eBay is a shady place to buy anything but the camera seems to be fine and everything came with it except a USB cable (which I have one that works with it already anyway) and a Video cable (not really important right now.) Well, I put it all together as seen and I still need to buy a memory/CF card but I have a question: When I look through the lens, as if I'm taking a picture and attempting to focus, no matter how I turn it or mess with it everything through the looking part is blurry. I cleaned it thoroughly with a lens cleaning kit, the mirror inside and everything. Am I just stupid and it's supposed to be that way, or what? I'm new at this shit so this is difficult for me. I know that it isn't supposed to be blurring the specs that I see when I press the shutter button halfway when it's supposed to be focusing. Help?I went to Canon's official website and the Rebel 300D isn't listed there which really irks me.EXIF data available. Did you check the diopter adjustment? Little dial next to the viewfinder, to adjust for minor vision problems. That might be doing it.
>>62350Yeah that worked. Thanks. I'm still figuring this thing out.
OP here with another question. So I'm looking at the manual which is telling me how to operate the menu and etc., but a lot of options on my camera's menu that are displayed in the booklet are missing on the actual camera. How do I fix this?
>>62347A lot of the menu items aren't available when your camera is set to the basic zone. Move into the creative zone and then check your menu again. If you don't know what I'm talking about, READ YOUR FUCKING MANUAL and stop wasting our collective god damned time.
>>62367Thanks you total jackass, I am reading the manual otherwise I wouldn't be here asking questions. My manual doesn't say a god damned thing about "creative zone." What the fuck am I supposed to do?
>>62368NVM, the manual is just really bad, had to use the index to fix my stupidity.
the aperture doesn't change until you actually make the exposure unless you use the aperture preview button to stop down to the AV you've preset
You bought this camera?KILL YOURSELF.
Just to point out, the mirror is not something you should clean your self, it is coated on the top side with silver reflective meterial which will flake off if cleaned in the wrong way, this will cause the auto focus to fail and the viewfinder to stop working!
>>62573Lolwut? I've always thought that mirrors have the silver reflective layer UNDER the glass, not on top of it.
>>62619It depends on the application, mirrors for precision optics will have the reflective layer on the front surface of the mirror, because glass absorbs some light. This might be the case with digital SLRs.
No,the glass is on TOP.
>>62726Woops, I mean the silver coating is on top!
Well, I have a Canon Xti Rebel II, and if its similar, you sometimes have to focus the viewfinder itself, there should be a little dial thing on the side of the viewfinder to do so.
