auto-ISO, not so much..

auto-WB, anytime i dont have time set a custom.. i shoot RAW anyway, so who the fuck cares
>> Anonymous
I have them both set to auto and manually select them when needed on my D80, auto ISO seems pretty good but the auto WB doesn't look good indoors
>> Anonymous
I beat my camera in chess the other night, so I decided that it shouldn't be making any decisions from now on.
>> sage rage
fuck yes.

auto iso is now closer to semi-auto, as you can set most of the limits that it will use to compensate... so fuck the doubters

auto-WB is tops also... i'd only set a WB if i was shooting JPG
>> Anonymous
I only use the lowest ISO (100) except when shooting in low light.

For WB, I don't care since I alter the color during post processing anyways.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Auto WB almost all of the time, since I shoot RAW and tweak the WB every time I postprocess.

Never use Auto-ISO because the 40D doesn't have much of an auto-ISO mode worth speaking of.

You are wise, Anon.

WB, don't care cause I shoot RAW
Auto ISO on the other hand, I use it quite often when working with available light.
>> Photon
Never Auto ISO.
Auto WB when I am too lazy to set it.

raw only when I take the time to compose a photo.
>> Anonymous
No WB because everything is shot in RAW then put through Lightroom. I do use custom WB when using a lighting setup though because it gives you a good starting point.
No auto ISO because my shitty camera doesn't have it! Usually start in 100 then a few at 400 just in case.
1600 ISO + Noise Ninja for night shots in bars/clubs.

I use auto WB almost always (except when shooting in shade, then I use shade.)

nikon's wb is dead on

id use auto iso if conditions dictated (shooting sports on a field half covered by shade and half with bright light, for instance.) The only problem with that is my camera doesn't let me set conditions for above 1/250, so I never use it.

auto iso, never
auto white balance - always ( raw )

auto wb is usually not toooooo bad, just needs a minor tweek - unless its in tungsten...
>> Liska !!LIVFOETqL8j
No auto ISO, I shoot raw, but still Auto WB when it gives me a better set of colors than daylight/cloudy/etc does.
>> Anonymous
I set Auto ISO on and have it go at max 800, min shutter 1/15. If you change the ISO manually to 1600 then it'll just go for the 1600, so I manually change the minimum ISO like that.

Auto WB somewhat often, but not if I use a flash.
That's because I shoot mostly RAW and the auto WB on my cam is often quite precise.

I'm pretty new to photography and notice a lot of people shoot raw, does this give you a lot more control when editing?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>272592
Yes. Big thing (at least for me) is that you have complete control over your white balance, saturation, sharpness, and noise reduction choices, so you don't ever have to worry about setting white balance in camera at all. You can just set aperture/speed/iso in camera and worry about all of the digital crap at your leisure when you're postprocessing.

Additionally, especially with the last few generations of SLRs, there's more image data in the RAW than the JPEG can hold. Gives you the possibility of rescuing highlights and shadows that you otherwise might have just lost.

Auto ISO - Never, i dont want to risk fucking up a good photo,

I'll change it when needed, but i wont leave it to my dslr (spesh when the K10D sees a glimmer of shadow and goes "HOLY FUCK, 400 NAO!!!!)

Auto WB - Yes, almost all the time, unless am shooting under obviously miscoloured light, but if it rly matters ill have them hold my balance cards for one shot in each location, problem sorted

I never get into situations where it's too much trouble to slide the ISO from 400 down to 100, so I don't use that.
Auto white balance? Fix it in RAW.
Auto anything? I sometimes shoot in Av.
>> Anonyfag of Borneo !bHymOqU5YY
Auto WB outdoors, fixed WB indoors for simple post-processing sync.

Can't do that sonny, don't have Auto ISO on me camera.
