Went on a short trip recently. Just looking for some critique.

I'm reasonably happy with them. A little bland but, eh.

Dig it.

Criticisms:
1. You've saved this as Adobe RGB, which is all well and good except that when you post it on the Interwebs, most people are gonna see it as if it were sRGB, which means it's going to dull your colors.
2. Additionally, a little bit of curves tweaking can make a lot of difference. Attached is a version I just PP'd. Converted to SRGB and wiggled the curves around a bit.
3. Might be better if the sky weren't plain flat blue like that. The only point of interest above the hill is the contrail. Maybe go back on a day with nice fluffy clouds.

(I could very well be wrong about #3 though. Might just end up making the shot look too busy)

That's one thing that's always bugged me. My pictures would look really good in photoshop and really washed out on the web. I'm gonna have to look for some color tutorials. Any you recommend?

Also, This is what I had in mind, color wise.

Yeah, yours looks better than mine. But in my defense, I wasn't really emotionally involved in it.

This is the page that taught me most of what I know about color spaces.
http://www.earthboundlight.com/phototips/srgb-versus-adobe-rgb-debate.html

The key thing to remember is just that you need to convert to an sRGB colorspace before you post it on the web since the vast majority of web browsers out there disregard the colorspace setting and display everything as if it were sRGB (Apple's Safari being the only exception, I believe)

really nice actually.

from the thumbnails i didnt think they would be cool but they turned out nice once opened.

i agree with ac that the colors are a bit bland ( i guess from the colorspace idk) but some color balance work should improve these alot.

dont go by acs example though is was awful...

Dude, please cut the shit out. Do you ever look at the images you edit in a smaller resolution than full-size? If you did, you would immediately notice how terrible and oversaturated and overcontrasted all the shit you edit is. JUST STOP IT.
>>170457
Looks great. Keep it up.

>>170622
????
Because the thumbnail is more important the full size image? Resizing always increases the contrast a picture.

Thanks.

Updating this with two or three with much improved coloring.

looked better without vignetting. It doesn't automatically make every picture better.

>Because the thumbnail is more important the full size image?
Retarded inference is retarded.
>Resizing always increases the contrast a picture.
No, it doesn't, that's the whole point. It doesn't "increase the contrast" it only makes your edits more evident in showing you how you're screwing the image the fuck up.

i actually prefer the OP's original pics, albeit washed out. it suits the shots better, i mean, we are talking about a desert lol, its hardly a colourful place ;)

Across a place where volcanic ash and water mixed to become what is called "lahar" and flowed through the valleys... Went on a cloudy day and got shitty photos.. but do let me know if there was excessive pp done ()just fixed the levels and fixed highlights)

pic here is the unshooped version, fullsize.

"shooped" but you still can't fucking resize.. why do you even have a copy of photoshop?

as for the picture, it fucking sucks.. you wanted to emphasize the geologic feature, yet you made the sky 2/3 of your frame. just stop.
>> Anonymous
>>171474

waste of a 400D
>> lol Rix
The trolls are right; serves me right for not resizing ;)

Yeah that was but one of the rivers of liquefied ash and mud that we passed by.. this particular shot should be better compositionally.. dunno about the pp... sorry i forgot to save the reference shot for this, but should be somewhere close to the first unshooped pic.

hey someone guessed it right.. :)
we didnt have time to stop where the lahar river was so had to make do... but the last shot i posted here i rolled the window down as far as i remember
>> Anonymous
>>171481
There's a shadow in it which literally makes a quarter of the photo darker on one side. The shopped thumbnail looked so weird that it's practically the only reason I looked at it.
>> Rix
Yes I noticed that too.. no I dont know how to fix it.
Should I even fix it, given that anonymous thinks its shit?

I wouldn't bother, a lot of them just look snapshot-ish. Discard at will.
