Nothing wrong with it except it's boring.

Take your camera and go shoot something more interesting. If you're interested in wine, go on a tour of a vineyard or something and take some photographs then.

Composition is boring tbh. Standing your subject in the middle of the frame makes your pic v stale and ordinary. Research the rule of thirds!

Also, your flash is far too direct/strong. If you're using a flash gun (which I suspect you're not), get one and start learning to use it.

What is this shit?

Find something interesting to photograph.

Sorry, if I can expand on my previous post (since I left the most useful bit of info out), try using things to soften the flash a little.

A piece of translucent paper or tissue over the in-built flash head can do a LOT to sort flash blow-out. If you ARE using an external flash unit, consider angling it to bounce off the ceiling or similar to disperse and soften the light.

You can do better than that. 10000 hours in a lightbox with a D40 here.

this is what i'm starting to realize new photographers do.. including myself sometimes... any bland subject subject can be made a "good picture" by getting the shortest DOF with whatever lens they have.
