My Second roll of 120 film finally came back. Only 8 days longer than the first...

Anyway Turns out I had underexposed it by slightly too much. I was shooting magic hour, and some pretty saturated scenes, so I wanted to not blow any, however I went a bit overboard. And my scanner software / hardware / skills aren't good enough to bring up the shadow detail and retain any contrast.

Anyway photo dump still.
Camera is a Super Ricohflex, TLR 80mm f3.5
Most pics are taken at f5.6, 1/200th or 1/100th of a second. Film is Velvia 50.

Can't decide if I like this one or not.
I dislike the high contrast leaves in the top, but I like the log / blue misty swamp area...

Why so grainy?

partly IRfanview, partly sharpening applied in post, and partly my underexposure, and attempt to brighten the scans.
Didn't realize it would be so apparent untill I had already uploaded the resized shots!

Also FUCK 4chan, seriously let me upload the last pics! I don't know how anything gets posted on here when the servers sometimes don't let you upload for half an hour at a time!

Really killed the exposure on this one. Was a bitch to compose, and I still don't feel comfortable with the framing

These would've been decent, though I'd ever shift the helicopter fill it's spot better or remove it entirely.

The softness of the images, and the terrible grain is killing these however.

Definitely would prefer it without the helicopter. But it's still probably my favorite.

What lenses were these shot with, particularly the first?

80mm f3.5, this TLR isn't interchangeable, so thats what i'm stuck with lol.

Triple Exposure, actually turned out quite well IMO.

Not exactly sure what to go for when doing multiple exposures, so I just kind of tried to balance the frame with highlights / shadows, so no one area was ridiculously bright or dark.

If any of you know tricks / tips for multiple exposures I would love to hear them!

FUUUUUUCK
FINALLY uploaded them all

Holy shit that took like 6 hours of constant retrying (In between TF2 games and homework lol)
But still, fuck these servers are bad. No wonder we don't have any photo threads, no-one can post anything!

I would much prefer that photo if it wasn't on some stupid angle.

Nice photo but put something on an angle just because you think its not very exciting doesn't make it more exciting. Usually its better left straight and you just end up looking really amateurish.

Yeah that grain is really bad, most likely caused by the scanners auto exposure and your tweaks. In the old days you could get round this by shining more light through or exposing the paper for longer. If you could find a lab that will do optical prints you may be able to save these by printing and scanning the prints.
As scanners are pretty clumsy try turning the auto exposure and colour correction off and giving it a bash manually??

I think you misread your light meter.
Shade under trees is 3-4 stops below bright sunlight
IN bright sunlight at f/16 you have 1/50 sec for proper exposure, at f/8, you'd have 1/200. Despite the all too often advice "negs expose for shadows, slides expose for highlights", you can do that if the vast majority of you shot (using slide film) is in the shadows. You have to adjust. No amount of scanning expertise or post production is going to make a shot like that come alive. You're WAY underexposed.
BTW - with the camera you should have MUCH better sharpness also. How are you focusing?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
Vuescan doesn't let me set anything truly manual, unfortunately. i have tweaked brig tness and shadow curves as much as i could.

scanner is probably to blame for the lack of sharpness, as most of these are shot at f5.6ish. focus is accurate that i know.
