Sup /p/

I know this is another gear thread, but i cant make my mind up between getting a Speedlite 430ex for my XT or the Sigma 30mm 1.4.

All i got is the fail flash on my camera, how will the 430 be better besides the siveling head?

Any external flash would be great if you can change the angle. Bounce it off of walls or ceilings for indirect light. Swivel heads just give you even more freedom. If you do more portrait photography, indoor stuff, or even have a macro studio, then an external flash is probably more useful than a new lens. Also, if your other lenses aren't very fast, then it would be more versatile as well.

always get lighting before a new lens because good lighting makes bad lens decent

-recycles 488495802 times faster than popup flash
-doesn't kill your camera battery life
-about 42 times stronger than popup flash
-multidirectional as ^ said
-infrared AF assist lamp for awesome af even in extreme low light
-full manual control over flash exposure, although if i remember correctly, you can't set FEC on the XT but you can still do it on the flash
-off camera flash (lol strobist lol)

<just don't use it like this guy

If you place this flash against a black piece of paper when set to "maximum firepower," it leaves scorch marks with a satisfying puff of smoke.

SEMI-RELATED QUESTION: Can anyone suggest a good flash for a Pentax? I'd like one with a swivel head so I can LOL STROBIST BOUNCE WITH DIFFUSER and whatnot.

Went to a geek festival over the weekend (Maker Faire) and got major flash envy looking at other people's gear.

aside from making a very loud pop, it didn't do shit

I know that it smokes very easily.
In metal work class, we use sharpies to make on the metal. Then when cutting along the inked-line it smokes like hell.

black paper works
leather boots (brown)

black jeans
