Care to share how you made it?
seconding construction instructions
This is the link to the connections:http://www.peeters.com/300d.htmlI expect all canons use the same pinout. For construction, I found an old film canister, a switch from a 'cold cathode' set I had for one of my comps and a 3.5mm female jack. Soldered the sleeve of the jack one of the leeds on the switch and the tip from the jack to the other leed. Cut out a hole just a bit smaller than the switch and fed the jack+wires through, and screwed the jack into a hole in the lid. Then put it all together. I have a Male-Male 3.5mm headphone extension cable and a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter to plug into the camera, this way I can use any length of extension cable to use the remote. It really helps for keeping your shadow out of a night photo.anything else?
bumping to keep alive
Saging to try to kill
>>279886Haha, good luck with that.
any similar instructions for a nikon?
>>279841Does it work well?
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3084/2883176877_13bc6799ed_b.jpgI made one of these when I was bored
Canon triggers use TRS connectors? Fuckdamn shitcunts. Nikon has some weird connector... hmm, lemme try shorting random pins.
You know you can just buy one for about $5 or something from China?
>>279924on 2nd thought, it's too small. sigh..Oh well, here's my remote flash. I'm currently working on a bouncer. Also just found an umbrella that works awesomely for bouncing off.

>>279936Wow, that's pretty ghetto. I'd have probably gone for some cheap eBay or similar gear to make it up.
>>279936nice wifebeater.
>>279841I'm too cheap to even buy anything else, so I used my TI-83 as a remote shutter.
Just got back from town, works great, does exactly what it's supposed to do. BTW, Police don't like you takin pics of downtown at night. They think you're gonna rob something... Damn this small hick town AKA Ohio.
Bump for more
>>279954You blow my mind, anonyfag. Can that even be done?
>>280035Actually I'm even too cheap for that, so my first remote shutter is a 2.5mm audio cable combined with a piece of solder to short the relevant parts of the jack in order to focus/trigger the shutter.Anyway, here's the code for the remote shutter:http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1275273/3Just scroll down to 'Remote shutter' section.
That whole thing is actually pretty nifty... Now I need to find a link cable for the TI-84 (Mine only came with USB).Is it just a standard 2.5mm male to male?
>>280041Yes, male-to-male. Since I can't find a 2.5mm, I got myself a 3.5mm cable and two 3.5 to 2.5mm converters.
This gives me some inspiration to try some stuff with my Arduino board and triggers... Like motion trigger for the shutter and other time wasters...
Why make a ghetto one when you can buy one for $5 to $10?The time you spent making that was probably worth more than it would cost to buy one, even if you are just a cleaner or a shelf stacker.
I didn't have the time, project is due tomorrow, needed remote shutter thingy tonight. That, and I had the crap to make it lying around, I am just someone who would rather make it then buy it, whether it is cheap or not.
