Yeah, BUT note that the Sunpak swivels, while the Vivitar only tilts.

The Viv, hands down. The 285 has been in production for 30 years for a reason. I have 2, they're tanks.

how does the vivitar work?
what is the wheel on the side etc?
i am guessing it only works w/manual exposure?

i just wanted to know if it was fully manual or if there was an auto mode or something?

I have a 383 super and it works great. I've used both and don't have a preference. They're both great manual flashes. The only complaint I have about either of them is the body feels really solid, but they have those tiny platic shoes that feel like they're gonna snap off eventually. I think you can get reinforced shoes for the 285 tho.

>>185601
Yeah, the metal shoes for the 285 are worth getting. They're like a dollar on eBay.

jesus fucking christ, you're a faggot

the vivitars are great get the 85 OR 285hv. the only difference with the 285 and the hv is that the 285 will fuck some cameras if used on the hot shoe.

>>185518

are you tallking about buy it now prices or auctions as most of the vivitars ive seen are about £45 + £10 shipping from hong kong?

Thanks, I will.
It's rad being able to take 20-30 shots in the time it takes you to set up your manual flash for ONE.
>> Anonymous
>>185694

so in which situation do you take 20-30 shots with a flash and have any of them come out decent?
>> Anonymous
>>185694
Like that matters at all for studio/object photography.

again, what has the sb-800 got to do with this thread?
>> Anonymous
>>185752

Superior flash.
Not that much more expensive.
>> Anonymous
>>185762

its 4 times the price and if by superior you mean it has more options, yes but its only slightly more powerful. i can state many other lighting systems that cost more than the vivitar 285hv , and the sb-800 but that wasnt the point of this thread.
