It's a good starter, but I think not putting af motors in their lower end DSLR is plan to make them upgrade bodies faster

hmmmmmm..

chromatic aberration, blown out, framing is off by 2 degrees, and lets-have-some-fun-with-depth-of-field-and-a-lens

go read some sites about digital photography and composition in general, take lots more pics using what you learned, and then post them.

Composition: http://photoinf.com/ READ A BUNCH OF SHIT FROM HERE AND LEARN THE BASICS OF WHAT MAKES AESTHETICALLY PLEASING ART.. IT APPLIES TO PHOTOGRAPHY TOO.. seriously, even if your images are exposed wrong and colors suck, a well composed, shitty quality photo is way better than a shittily composed great quality photo

photography basics - read these and learn about exposure (aperture, shutter speed, & ISO and how they relate to each other), white balance, tips for different styles of shooting, etc:

http://www.photo.net

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech.htm (yeah yeah yeah he's annoying, but he put things in simple terms and seems to want to make photography accessible to everyone.. just dont become a nikonfag who talks about WILD COLORS all the time please)

http://www.strobist.com if you want to become a manual flash photography fag.
