Time for my weekly /p/ crapflood.

these are really, really simple and boring. i was just working on framing and composition and i want to know well i accomplished a simple placement of light sources, lines, and objects to be aesthetic. i'm not trying to get these published or anything.

I very much like the minialism and lighting on this particular photo. No complaints, just looks good. Would make a nice wallpaper.

This one runs together a little much.. wish you had more light in it. It's hard to tell what is it (I thought it was pillows, or the sheet from above).

Aside from that, patterns look really cool, just keep on going.

yeah it's the same sheet from above .. it's actually just the curtains on a window in my mom's house from below -- it's a high up window, like 10 ft or so. i always hated it and i wanted to photograph it to make peace with it.

i'm so glad you got what i was doing in the first photo. you seem to 'get' me pretty often actually. I didn't even have to SAY "minimalism" and you said it for me.

random thought: if i could improve this photo, i'd remive all the indications that i was photographing a ceiling and a curtain and keep it a mystery. i wish that the upper left vertical line was cleaner and sharper and didn't have that 'ceiling texture' to it.

Actually, I didn't even notice it was a window (either of them) until i looked at the filename. I thought you had taken a sheet, set it up on the floor, put some light under it and shot it.

i was thinking about what people would think that it was when i posted it. i didn't really want to shoot the WINDOW, just some light and line and some good old monochrome. it seems much cooler when it's a sheet that i lighted for a photoshoot, doesn't it? does it lose all of its positive qualities when you're told that i was looking upwards to a window that was just sitting there?

Hmmm, i'm not sure. I still like the shoot, but it does kind of mess it up for you to have it named "window" so then we know what it is. I still like the composition and text of it, but i wouldn't have named it as such so people can make their own conclusions.

Then again, I just like to play with light, so to speak, so it fits what appeal's to my personal tastes.

2nd one is still too close in for me, and needs more light variation in order to really work.

yeah #2's crap. i was unable to exercise objectivity.

Number one is too obviously minimalistic, to the point of looking like a parody, or at least a caricature.

Number two is actually very good. However, I think it would be better if you reversed your DoF, that is, focused on the valley in the fabric instead of on the peaks.

Hm! well i MEANT it sincerely. also: what's so good ABOUT #2? i felt it was a little gimmicky.
