Did /p/ ever try a Giotto's tripod? I may be buying the MT 9370. That decision, however, is based on only a few reviews on this line of products. Any advise?

That should have been 'advice', obviously.

Haven't used a Giottos 'pod, but I used to have a Gitzo with the same basic design (the tiltable column) and found it to be more trouble than it was worth for my purposes. IMO it's hard to beat the Bogen 3021 (or whatever the current equivalent is) for what most people need.

I picked up the slik pro 700DX with a pan/tilt head for $130. the center column doesnt rotate like that, however it does flip upside down.

I got to play with one a few weeks ago, I got the impression it would have been much more fun with a macro lens. I don't usually do close ups of anything and I came away with the impression that that is what this ability is for.
SLIK 700 DX is nice, but the only thing that has stopped me from buying it is that I'd rather put down the money now for a gitzo instead of trading up later.

I've got a slik sprint mini gm tripod here, but apart from its convenient size when not expanded it's maximum size really is too small. The tripod in the OPs post seems to be very versatile but I can't find any review on this particular model.
I'd be very glad if somebody could provide me with a reliable review site for tripods in general or, even better, a review of this specific tripod.

Thanks in advance!
