So, I own a D50.
No big deal you'd say, and that is true. Wonderful thing and I love it. The only downside is manual focussing. The prism in it just sucks balls for focussing a T/S lens and my 500mm MF.

Is there a replacement glass for better focussing?

Thank you kind sir, i really appreciate it!

Anyway, you have experience with Katz-Eye?
What is the difference between this thing and my regular Nikon glass?

>split-prism rangefinder focusing that you find in old manual-focus film cameras, which makes manual focus a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

Wait. Doesnt that give me only 1 focus point in the center and won't it fuck up the other focus points?

I use the DK-21m eyepiece magnifier on my D50, which is really really nice, and helps with manual focusing a lot. I've been using it for going on a year now, and I can't live without it. It's cheap, too, like $20. If you use that and find it's still not enough, go for the Katz-Eye. I haven't used one personally, but I hear really really good things about it. No, it doesn't fuck up the autofocus points at all. The only thing you'll have to worry about is prism blackout in dark situations.

the af point won't light up anymore

AH. Major turn off.
So thiss will be a last resort kinda thing.
Nikon NL will build the thing in for me for like $20, maybe it will work as they probably won't fuck things up?

Anyeway I'm gonna go search for a DK-21

Question, because I've been thinking about a magnifying eyepiece: what does it do the image besides magnify it, and presumably reduce eyepoint? Does it reduce coverage or anything like that?

Apparently NO.
BUT, since it MAGNIFIES your view, it should make focussing easier.

No, I've still got full coverage, but yeah, you've gotta eyeball that fucker pretty hard. It doesn't bother me at all, but it might if you have glasses. On the D200, I can't see the whole frame without putting my eyeball right on there, but on my D50, it's fine and dandy, since it's a smaller viewfinder to start with.

Thanks. I've heard from different places that magnifiers do and that they don't affect coverage, so it's nice to hear a definitive answer.

And eyepoint doesn't matter for me, so it looks like I'll be getting myself a magnifier.

it's fucking gay and made the VF blurry, no way to adjust it with the diopter
