vintage nikon collects a hefty premium, especially the pro F series.

so, yeah. do what he says. get an om-1 or om-2. not as super rugged as nikon, but it'll get the job done.

why pre-1980 anyway? are you just picking that number out of thin air? it's my opinion that film slr's really went through a golden era during the 80's, not before.

the great thing about an olympus om-1 or 2 is that it'll never fall out of your hands. i've never needed a strap or anything.

it's fucking rugged as shit. when i was a kid i dropped mine a bunch and it was always fine. now my hands are big and i don't drop it, but if you're not 11 you won't need a strap or anything.

it might not be as rugged as a nikon but it's solid and metal, it won't break as long as your lens isn't gigantic.
