I was taking pictures of this landscape at my friends house early in the morn on the day of today and my tripod, me weighing my head against the body of the camera and my hand on the lens up against the side of a marble column, one of the shots I slipped and had moved the camera out it's position to get it ready again, while the shutter was still open. There happened to be torches nearby which were caught in the exposure, and it showed off a cool firey effect, one such as this except this is a little more controlled on how I did it. It's not great, but the concept is cool, and whenever I get the chance I should try to work more with this kind of exposures. It was a 20 second exposure, half of which capturing the landscape and I would place my hand over the lens and turn around and capture the torch flames like so. Fun little experiment, I need to try more like this.EXIF data available. If you have a 5D and you have never done something like that with fire, flashlights, or fireworks you are either:and ultimate retardor your parents are wealthy.Anyway, die in a car fire.
actually i like your picture very muchunfortunately the background is a bit too less visible and the fire is a bit too much but it looks really really great. best would be some abstract buildings on the hill like a huge strangely shapen tower or a parabol-antenna.maybee next time make a longer exposure to get the background better and then move the torch through the lower part of the picture to get it an better effect. if you get some results you might want to show them?thx!
