Hey /p/als!

I want to get into macro photography and am tired of trying to shoot backwards through old lenses I have laying around.
How do I know if a lens is "macro" or not? What are some good (cheapish) macro lenses?

It will say Macro. Is it for a Nikon, Canon, or another brand?

Actually if you want a proper macro lens you either own an olympus or a canon.

Canon has the MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x macro (which i have) and olympus used to make an 20mm f/2.0 macro.

OFC you can get there with all sorts of bellows and shit (the oly actually is just a lens on a bellow), but nothing beats the versitality of the Canon.

The cheap way would be to own two 50mm f/1.8 lenses and couple them together for a 1:1 magnification.

what's a single 50mm reversed?

What about this lens:
Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Medium Telephoto Macro Lens

It gets pretty good reviews...
