did somebody say bokeh?

You assholes keep posting this lens and raving about the bokeh but I've never seen a shot from it.

So you have never used it yourself?
>> Anonymous

That's just because everyone here is a poorfag and can't afford it.

Honestly, I really dislike the bokeh, looking through the samples. It's *too* smooth; it looks unnatural and plain at the same time, and sometimes even winds up being distracting for that.
>> Anonymous
It's so smooth, it almost looks like a flat backdrop behind the image. I prefer somewhat sharper bokeh like OP's because it gives a sense of location or perspective.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>160652
Holy shit, that almost makes me want to go out and buy a Maxxum.

SUBJECTIVE ISSUE IS SUBJECTIVE

Fucking smooth as shit can be awesome, harsh can look more like real life.
>> Anonymous
That lens is the only thing I envy sonyfags.
>> Anonymous
so many canikon fags don't even know about the STF and the shitload of other stuff Minolta has first and best.

shut the fuck up

no one cares about your one piece of shit junk
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>160704
There's actually a few pieces of junk. The other one I know about is that autofocus catadioptric monster. I wouldn't mind having one of those.

indeed.

I don't think too many /p/tards would turn down a ~$600USD 500mm lens, even if it was f/8.

I also think Minolta used to have a 1000mm f/8 in it's MD line...not entirely sure.

>>160673
It *should* look unnatural. That's because our eyes give a pretty sharp outlined circular bokeh, plus we're used to the bokeh of regular lenses. Although the effect of creamy smooth background can be awesome if used correctly.

FUCK YEAH

MINOLTA FUCKING ROCKS, I'VE GOT 2 SPECIALTY LENSES

FUCK NIKON, FUCK CANON

Fuck this shit. I have a 500mm f/5.6 and I shot like 3 decent pictures with it in 2 years. It's too long and pictures are full of fucking donuts if I'm not carefully choosing the background.

mirror lenses suck.

i love minolta, though. konica's fucking excellent as well.

too bad you didn't get the whole shoe in focus you dipshit.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
Making awesome lenses that no one needed didnt help KM stay in buisness, but prehaps getting bought by SONY will be good for them, if sony let them carry on being awesome. Which they seem to be sort of doing.
>> Anonymous
>>160852

The only downside is that they might end up doing the awesome and quirky stuff as they streamline for business.
