"Maximum Lens Aperture f 1.0"

What lens are you using?
>> Anonymous
Canon lens?

On my Nikon?
>> Anonymous
>>242848
I don't know why It says that. I checked in my camera, and all the settings are correct for the older lenses. I'm shooting on a Nikkor 50mm 1.2. Anyone got any suggestions to make my exif data display the correct max aperture?

No sir. Nikon on a Nikon

From the look of these shots, your a LONG way off that.. if it was ever there...

Show me some of your shot from before you lost your "creative inspiration".. id like to see what youve got

I'll do so when I get back to my other computer. I don't know, I'm just really getting down on my work. I don't like it any more. I'm going to try to stop doing night photography so much, find some more interesting subjects to shoot. I got this digital camera, and I'm not liking it so much. It's convenient, but it's just so different from film. There's just an air about it that I really dislike. Nothing like shooting Neopan 400 or 1600..

very nice shot. has a lot of potential for a lot of applications.

if you are going to shoot mannequins just keep shooting them. look at Bernd and Hilla Becher's work and how a serise of photos can work no matter what the subject. i like to think of it as not strength in numbers but intrigue.

Hm, I guess I'm just getting down on myself. I'll keep shooting mannequins, it was interesting. I just am having a problem with how my shots are looking. I guess that could come from the lack of post processing I do. I dunno, can't really do anything else than take a lot of photos, and try to work it out through them.

i have a d300 also and so i may be able to help.. you use a tripod and what are you generally shooting in RAW?

post processing is a fools games. dont get bogged down by thinking that photoshop is a good thing to "fix" your photographs with. Also dont review every shot after you take it. wait till you get home and look at them away from the scenes/subjects.

just keep shooting more and moe. the more effort you put in to these shoots the more youll get out of it. nothing happens by magic or by how much equiptment you buy. its all

I don't have a tripod, mine just broke. Need to get a new one, it's limiting me a bit, especially with my night stuff. Do you know anything about setting manual white balance using the D300? I am not very knowledgeable about doing that. I just try and work in Lightroom to get the desired effect.

>>243269

yeah its in the big manual but ill give it a try buy using my descriptions od the various buttons. ive got my d300 updated to the ltest firmware and ive got t fairly hevily customised in terms of settings so it may not work exactly the same with you.

if you get a new tripod try it out in the shop first as you may end up finding that its to weak or unstable to hold a heavy camera stably in portrait.

>>243269

ok here goes.

hold down the WB(white balance) button on the left.
turn the command dial on the back of the camera to scroll through the options.

play around with those or use the "K" to set it manually.

the best thing to do is just fuck around with the camera. ive had mine for a while and i still find different thing or ways to do things.

Oh, what was updated in the latest firmware revision? Anything essential? Also, I was planning on getting a Bogen Manfrotto or something similar. I looked in the manual, and didn't find a very description about temperatures of lights, aka 5000k. Do most modern light meters measure the temperature of lights?

>>243284

You just have to try different temps and see whats best for whatever situation.

yeah go for the manfrotto. they are fanastic. but try it bfor you get it in a shop if yoou can then order the fucker off the internet.

It really is hard to go with a Manfrotto, unless you go with a sub-$100 "lightweight" one, which are kinda flimsy. If you want a light Manfrotto, you'll be spending some decent cash.

I went with a different brand this time around, myself. Picked up a Tiltall, not sure of model name/number, but it was around $100. Pretty beefy, but decent weight for the size, can go up REALLY high if that's ever necessary, holds rock-solid, etc. Only real lack is a quick release, but it's got a pretty easy setup for mounting the camera.

>>243319
Good Stuff, I'll play around with that.
>>243348
I'll look around to see what type of deals I can get on a tripod. Hopefully I can find something that when my camera is placed on it, the head wont snap in half, almost tossing my d300 to the ground :( Hah, I guess that's what I get for keeping the old one I had.

I'll post some more of the older photos that I took when I get home. Still at work.

Oh shit, we carry that model in fucking GOLD at my Ritz. Shit's enormous.

These shots are kinda meh. But I think you realize that.

If you prefer film so much, why not go out with film? Or go with both the DSLR and a film camera.

>>243500
It's really not all that big. I had a Manfrotto about the same size back in the day, and it was quite a bit heavier than the Tiltall. Of course, when I was shooting large format, I had an even bigger Manfrotto. Imagine a fully extended normal tripod, but make each leg one solid piece of metal, with another tube, just as long, that telescopes out from that. Add to that a HUGE head with a quick release plate the size of a pack of cigarettes and two bubble levels, and you've got one helluva tripod.

Yeah, they're just meh... I haven't started shooting in film because the lab at my school doesn't open for another week, and I'm taking classes in both film and digital. I'm not a huge fan of color, so I might start trying to take b&w's, but I don't know. I just feel like everything I take with the digital isn't nearly as good as film. Meh...

I like this one- the eagle heads are kind of creepy! I just wish you didn't have that mirror reflection... could a filter have prevented that maybe?
