Resize, motherfucker.

And at least someone posts a concert photo without a flash. Big plus from that.

agreed resize and moar

i don't remember someone posting a concert photo with flash

except newfags with small cameras
>> Anonymous
Ok, I guess i'm going to be a newfag for posting this, but whats the problem with cocert photos with flash?

The shows I've shot are extremely low-light. Without flash I would get ridiculously bad shots.

I like.
Jens is awesome too.
>> Anonymous
>>150816

because it makes the photo look like shit, ruins the mood/ambience the lighting people worked so hard to make (lulz)

use a fast lens and high iso, problem solved
>> Anonymous
>>150830
I've been to shows where f/1.8 and iso 1600 won't give you more than like 1/13th.

Using flash is ok when the lightning sucks.

>>150834

don't use a shitty camera or learn to push in RAW
>> Anonymous
>>150834
I still had to push like 2 steps.

Blinds the performer, too.
>> Anonymous
>>150845
Don't shoot right at the performer and bounce the light?
>> Anonymous
>>150830
This.

>>150834
>>150842

1/13th is fine. Just practice your shooting rhythm to get shots where the performers aren't flailing. Actually the one thing easier when it comes to shooting concerts: There's music, the musician will probably be moving roughly in accordance with the music, the music itself has a rhythm...

And two stop pushes are fine. Noise is a part of a photograph, and people are used to seeing it. It's fine. Move on.

If the idea of a two-stop push is conceptually discomforting, buy an old meterless SLR and some T-Max or Delta 3200, and an f/1.2 or 1.4 lens. Shoot it wide open, set the shutter speed to the slowest speed you're comfortable with. Hand it off to someone else for developing and printing, with instructions just to yield a correct-looking exposure. For all you know, they were pulled.

>>150852
Still disrupts the concert. You're there as a photographer to document it, to fix into a two-dimensional image the essence of the performance. Fucking with that usually doesn't help.

Plus, the musician is performing for the audience, not your camera. The audience is there to see the concert, not your strobe.

All that said, I think concert lighting is stupid, but if it's there, it's there.

what does pushing in RAW means

is it taking the picture at like -1 or -2 EV for higher shutter speed

then bringing it back to 0 or more in processing?
>> Anonymous
>>150868
Pretty much, although the practical step is just sliding the "exposure" slider in Camera Raw up.

>The shows I've shot are extremely low-light. Without flash I would get ridiculously bad shots.

Sounds like a serious case of FAIL. Learn to photograph in low light.

>>150834
>Using flash is ok when the lightning sucks.

It's not the lighting that sucks, it's you who sucks.

This photo has been pushed two and half stops. Without losing color. ISO8600 that would be.

Pushing without color, well, you could probably take it as far as four steps. That would mean ISO1600 photo to match ISO25600 photo. But that would mean some motherfuckin' skills.

Seriously. It's just lack of skills if you need to use flash in concerts. And I say this as a owner of 30D and 17-85mm IS f/4-5.6.

That's some nice photo you have there!

>>150916
In Photoshop/Lightroom there's this thing called exposure. It pushes or pulls your RAW's exposure, kind of.
Pulling one step, exposure -1, pushing two steps, exposure +2.

If it makes you feel better, most people think she's Bill Kaulitz when they see that picture.

I actually like their sound, too.

What were the settings you bumped to like 60 and lower to 60 or something again in lightroom for that filmy grain look?

Saturation minus, vibrance plus.
