hey /p/, I'm so fucking broke, damn near every DSLR I've been shoppong for is far out of my budget.

any ideas about something ULTRA-cheap that will be approrpiate for supporting my amateur photography?

I'll be taking far too many photos to use film, I've weighed it up and DSLR is my most practical option, even if it is expensive.

Try eBay for an old 400d? They're cheap.

The lens they came with was shit though, so if you can afford it, try getting something faster.

D40 FGS. If you are STILL too poor for that, get a secondhand one.

Ritz has Pentax *istDS kits in stock in the warehouse for a little more than $250, and they can just order you up one.

They're solid cameras, better than the 300D and similar to the Nikon D70 and 350D.

thanks, will look into it.

/p/ helpful? NO FUCKING WAY!

thanks guys, hopefully I wont suck fucking frenulum at photography later on in life, otherwise you're to blame.

Make sure you tell the employee to look on the computer. I don't think many Ritz stores are getting shipments of them like my store is, so they probably won't know about it until you tell them.

>They're solid cameras, better than any other entry-level DSLR ever

Fix'd. The *istD series is up to now the only one with two control dials and it beats every other crop DSLR (except the Kx0D series, which it ties) for viewfinder magnification.

Subjective feel-in-the-hand stuff aside, it's what we should be suggesting to anyone who asks for an entry-level DSLR. That plus an old K or M42 28 or 35, a 50 (either that famous Takumar or a newer AF one), and something a touch longer and maybe something a touch shorter. Or just the kit lens in addition to the 28/35 and 50.

>it beats every other crop DSLR (except the Kx0D series, which it ties) for viewfinder magnification.

Actually, I should note this isn't strictly true, it does if you compare it as a 1.5x crop camera, but the D80, D300, etc. beat it if you list the Pentaxes as a 1.53x crop. However, you're not going to go out and get a lens .3 times shorter; lenses listed as a given focal length vary up and down more than that. So in practice it depends on the lens.

He quoted the previous poster saying "entry-level".

Even with Nikon bashing, the D*0 and D300 are at least a step above entry-level. :)

I wrote both that post and the post it was correcting, specifically the statement that it had more magnification than any other crop DSLR. The D80/200/90/300 are all crop.

I thought I was clear about the shared authorship with the "Actually, I should note..." opener.

TL;DR lol Anonymous, but thanks.

OP: I'm 21, I have a job, I didn't post "fuck you oldfag".

I might be getting a d70 for cheap soon, how is it?
