Heres a recent picture I took for a photography class. I've been shooting for about a year, this was taken with an 80-200 2.8 AF-S and a D40. I'm purchasing a d300 this month as well as a 50mm 1.8 and 24-70 2.8

I'm hoping to pursue this further throughout life, and just got some big checks in the mail from selling the posted guitar. Maybe you will like my automotive stuff more?

What's with the frames?

generic

i would have just gotten lenses and some flashes if i was you. you dont need another body. atleast i dont think so, but i dont know anything about your situation.
>> Anonymous
I can always hold off on a body, honestly I just need more info, as I said I bought this camera a year ago and really don't know as much as plenty of the people on here.
>> Anonymous
It seems really noisy and saturated. Maybe try it in B&W, the colors don't really work that well even when made more vibrant.

I have worked with the D300, it is an amazing body.

Even with new gear, your photos will still be shit.

Maybe this shot is a little better? Sorry for so much editing, but the customer really wanted it to look "cool" as he said.

I think your border ruins every picture.
Its extremely cheesy.

Give your subjects room to look into!

This phrase stands even when things dont have eyes or faces, the guitar is facing to the right, and with the lines flowing from left to right, you should have placed to guitar on the left, it looks very awkward there

>>246058

Very dull, I want to look around the tree's and shit, not the car, just dosnt look nice

>>246067

Fantastic! very nice car shot, well done

mom bought me a D40

4chan told me D40 sucks.

now mom will buy me a D300.

4chan told me D300 rules.

This. Your body is fine, now learn to take pictures. I feel sorry for your photography class, I don't see you've learned much.

Also, ditch the pathetic borders.
>> Anonymous
I've heard the general rules is, the closer you, the photographer, physically get to the subject, the better. Moving forward and zooming out with give you a much better sense of depth. Taking shots from far away with a telephoto will flatten out the image.

only faggots say GET CLOSER = BETTER PHOTO!

that's such a fucking stupid thing to say

Would it not help the first photo?

A polarizing filter would have worked wonders on the finish of that guitar. As it is it looks like plastic.

richfags with their d300's and e36 m3's on koseis

need to go lower in the front
>> Anonymous
Probably would have looked better as a Portrait. The Landscape composition doesn't feel natural, more constricting.

This

Also, as others have said, cut the borders. They're unnatural and draw attention AWAY from the subject. The bit of text is not distracting though.

>>246067
That is my favorite of the bunch. Again, lose the border and it will be much better.
>> Anonymous
no borders, rule of thirds
i like the white bmw but as a photo its still shit

How does I blowed out highlights?

This might just be me, but I always think guitar pictures like this look better with a more iconic guitar, like a Les Paul or a Stratocaster.

i like the white beemer picture. very commercial.

Crimson flows down from the wings of a dove
Floatin over the pavement
