ebay triggers or light stand? Anonymous
any of you tried the ebay flash triggers?

I just started to get more involved in photography the last 6 months or so. currently about 95% of the time I use available light.

I have a canon 580 EX II, and also a coiled cord to get the flash off camera a few feet. when i do this i just hold the flash in hand off to the side or whatever.

I plan on getting a little more use out of the flash over the next few months selling stuff on feebay.

I was wondering if you only had one choice right now, which would you get in my situation. A V2 ebay remote trigger and just set the flash on something, or a lightstand and only have the short range of the 4' off camera flash cord.

I have a XTI so I have no PC port on the camera, if i wanted more wired range, I could buy a hotshoe adapter with a PC outlet on it and get a 15" cord to run the flash on. i the wired way is better than the cheap remote flash.

ebay triggers, don't get the cactus shit. You're paying $30 more for their name on someone else's product.

Thanks.

pic related : your talking about this kind right? there like 19.80 total or the set

I also noticed in the description that the batteries included say or testing purpose only, so I'm assuming they wont last too long

make sure you find ones that are 580 ex compatible, i know that my $10 ones aren't. If it isn't 580ex compatible, you just gotta use a pc cable from the receiver to the flash.

I bought mine ebay triggers from Gadget Infinity. It was maybe six months ago. Cactus V2s, works like a charm, considering the price.
And I still have the batteries in use which came with them.

But what about those other cheap wireless triggers strobist hyped about some time ago. Could do TTL for only, what, 50$?

It says it's 430 compatible, but it's needed to set an extra adaptor to the end of the flash for the PC port?

not sure what you mean.
this set should work on the hotshoe, i beleive the pc wire on the receiver is for studio lights.

CAUTION: Beware not to work via the hot shoe with high voltage flashes or studio
strobes with a triggering voltage of 12V or higher; use PC sync port in this instance.

gadgetinfinity is a ripoff. it use to be the ebayer to buy from then greed overcame with strobist tool fame.

don't forget about shipping costs, when claiming a low price.

option A>>216434= 37.95 inc. S&H
option B>>216448= 19.80 inc. S&H
---------------------------------------
savings of 18.15

I would rather choose option B

also some do a quick ebay price of 20$ for a cactus ebay trigger and fail to realize that what they are looking at is just the price for an additional receiver
