I don't really even know why I'm even doing photography except to avoid doing any real work. But while I'm dicking around with this hobby, I'd like to know what the correct mind set is for shooting, what to look far, and what is "correct" framing.

The evidence suggests that you already know these things.

*look for.

I hope some of you will take a break from trolling and explain the process of taking good pictures.

Looking forward to some ass rape from this crowd.

What evidence? I thought getting a flickr account, but that just depressed. How do these guys crank out so many pictures that have high emotional impact?

It's kinda tiring to take product shots and endless flower macros. Pic related, also repost.

Can't even tell what I'm looking at, and doesn't really do anything for me as an abstract.
>>175086
Good job with the personality, standard kind of shot but well done.
>>175088
Doesn't really explain itself well enough.
>>175090
Nice general portrait, technical stuff seems good, I'm sure they'll like it.
>>175091
Both shots are cool, together I really like this.
>>175099
This annoys me, probably cause of the associated stereotype. Well shot though.

>>175110
What's the associated stereotype? Corn and braces?

Scene from my car, on my paper delivery run. One of my myriad of jobs.

The evidence that the pictures in this thread are pretty win. In my opinion, at least. Others seem to disagree.

Girl's face is blurry. Maybe a smaller aperture?
>> elf_man !!DdAnyoDMfCe
>>175112
I'm thinking black guy and corn.
Although the skin tone's kinda hard to tell, looking again.

Shitty chrome scan, on shitty film, with shitty lens.

I'd post my flickr if I wasn't so embarrassed, so you'll just have to settle for this selection.

Yeah, nevermind, it was just my initial reaction.
I do kinda like this better in color though. Funnier.

I dig these. The first one I don't get, second's a standard-ish snapshot, paper one's mildly interesting...

And the others are all really good.

I really like this one.
The others... meh.

>>175140

What makes the other ones "good"? Every one seems to have picked different ones to like.

I know you guys can verbalize. Saying something is good is not really criticism. You guys are describing the flaws pretty well. Please continue.

>>175084
Overexposed and I can't even tell what the subject is. Shitty overall.
>>175086
Awful subject, I don't know what you were trying to capture but it doesn't fit the mood or her apparent personality. Decent technically, if not underexposed by a hair.
>>175088
BORING
>>175090
Bad subject again. There's no point visible in the photo to her being happy and him being upset. I know the pose relates to it but there's no further context, and it makes the photo pointless. If it was just a portrait of two people smiling, I might say 'good job'.
>>175091
Good subject, great exposure, but bad framing. Crops seem a little too tight, and slightly askew. They're also not dissimilar enough for a diptych.
>>175099
Good use of the diptych idea and good photos, fun subject, but I think the post-processing done here is a little too much. Looks like a shitty HDR photo in the bottom panel.
>>175102
BORING AGAIN. No point to the photo at all.

Good enough detailed critique?
>> Anonymous
>>175417

How changes to>>175091should be done with the framing to improve the shot?

>>175099is just a filtered b&w of>>175124.

So you're saying that the shots I take don't represent my subject accurately?

Thanks for the critique. But now, how I improve my future shots with this in mind?
