Hay guys... Anonymous
Real simple question. I've recently used a Canon Rebel XTi, and liked it so much I'm saving to buy it. I'd like to get the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Zoom Lens with it. I've shopped around the real world, and found that I'm going to spend around 800 dorrars on the camera, and about 200 dorrars on the lens. I was wondering where you guys get you toys so I could check those venues out, price-wise.

How about www.1wayphoto.com?

adorama.com and keh.com are also both /p/ favorites.

And there's always Amazon.

Me, I got my Rebel XTi from newegg.com. It was about $80 cheaper there than anywhere else at the time (well, anywhere else that I could be reasonably sure wouldn't take my money, laugh, and send me a box with a #2 in it if anything).

No.

No no.

A world of no.

I don't have any experience with them, but http://www.resellerratings.com is your friend. Lifetime rating, 1.54 out of 10. If a deal looks too good to be true, especially on camera equipment, it probably is. There are a shocking number of online and mail-order stores out there that are nothing but 100% pure scam.

How can these places be scams if people bought cameras from these places and are completely satisfied?

Because people are idiots or don't know how to judge the difference between a good, genuine piece of equipment and a bad knockoff.

There are some people who'll listen to the salesman say "Hey, you might want to get a battery charger with that. It's only $173 and it'll let you use your camera more than once!" and go "Wow, that seems like a good deal!" without realizing that the battery charger is included in the box.

Also, a lot of them sell gray-market (i.e., imported from other countries in a not-authorized-by-Canon-or-Nikon way) stuff without making that clear, which means you're SOL if you want any warranty service.

Since sage.com doesn't sell cameras, I think you ought to educate yourself a bit more before attempting to play with the big boys:
