soup /p/

what kind of camera bags do you guys have and what gear do you keep in them?

I'm a new-photo-fag so i just have my little bag with my 18-70 and 75-300 in it.

Bags are overrated. (read, Overpriced!)
Though I use a Lowepro MiniTrekker (Backpack), I cut out the lowepro emblem to at least make it look a little more like a regular backpack though...

It fits a D200, 80-200, SB-800, D50, 85mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, 30mm f1.4 (Or 10-20)
Battery charger, Remotes, Spare batteries, Spare mem cards, BR-2A, lots of misc crap...
So it packs a lot for its size..

I just use the kit bag. It's functional.
The bag I really like is one I borrowed from my parents when I went on vacation. It's eagle creek, and isn't technically a camera bag, but had partitions, padding, and all kinds of little pockets just like a camera bag. And it had a zipper flap top, instead of the usual style, which meant I could actually get in and out of the bag without taking it off. I could actually change lenses in the bag, which was awesome.

My usual DSLR bag is a Domke F-6 containing a D200 body, AI-S Nikkors 24mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.8, 105mm f/2.5, a Sigma 10-20mm, a lensbaby, an SB-600 flash, blower brush, graduated neutral density filter, lens pen, spare batteries and CF cards.

For days when I want to go light, I just use an old military canvas shoulder bag with a Leica M3, 50mm f/2 Summicron, 15mm Voigtlander Heliar, and 135mm Hektor, Voigtlander VC meter II, and a few rolls of film.

When I want to carry both systems, or one system plus general supplies when I'm travelling, I use a Domke F-2 bag.

canon branded bagback. 400d, sigma 80-400, kit 18-55.

I still use the Lowepro I bought in 96, motherfucker is built to last. It cost me a fuck load at the time though.

domke f-2 baby its the best. plus instead of the bullshit camera straps that come with my quipment I use the Domke Gripper Straps. They have a rubber grip woven into them so they don't slip.
>> Anonymous
I use a crumpler keystone. Holds a 5d with 2 lenses, flash, extra shit, and a laptop. Well made and doesn't scream "im full of expensive shit".

I use the gripper straps too, they're awesome. Half the weight and bulk and more flexible than the manufacturer's ones and they grip better.

Domke bags rock. I've had a lot of camera bags, but will never own one that isn't a Domke anymore.

I found my camera bag on the corner of a sidewalk. It smelled like cat piss and had grass all over BUT GODDAMN THOSE THINGS ARE BUILT TO LAST.

<-- Lowepro TLZ 10
It's intended for superzooms, but it fits my small DSLR both with 40/2 pancake and even with a kit lens.

For my larger DSLR I use an unknown model Samsonite shoulder bag that fits body, two mid-size lenses and a flash.

I've got some small lowepro bag for when I'm just out shooting. I got it as a gift, so I'm not sure of the exact model. It works, but I'm starting to collect a little too much gear, maybe. it's pretty packed when I go out.

<--For when I go to school, I've got this Tamrac cyberpro so that I have a section for my laptop as well. I wouldn't particularly recommend it, though. It's not really ergonomically designed and the top flap is never very snug. If it wasn't for the fact that it's easier than carrying two bags around all day (and much better for getting off the train in the morning rush), I'd probably have gotten rid of it a long time ago.

This nasty boy to move arround my camera, its lenses and the 17' laptop altogether

My standard bag is an Orion Trekker II, in which I carry my D80, 35mm f2, 50mm f1.8 and SB600 along with a notepad and sketchbook. Otherwise, I just stick the D80 and 35mm in a TLZ 10.

I have a tiny animal purse thing which just about fits my flash, 11-18+A100. The reason is that it doesnt look anything like a camera bag so I can take it clubbing etc and not worry about someone trying to steal it.

I got a free bag when i bought my A100 so i use that otherwise, fits 4 lenses a flash and the body with ease + room for other crap. Not the ops pic tho -___-

This is... not exactly tiny. Or you're just very large.

Best man purse ever. Extra points if you actually have a camera in it.

Thank God. I thought you mean a purse actually shaped like an animal, like those little monkey backpacks middleschoolers use.

(Also, Starbucks, WTF? Are you bent on making the worst brand choices possible? Although I will give you Sony being better than 4/3rds.)

>>Bags are overrated.
truth.

BUT, if i do use a bag (not often at all, only maybe for big travel) i use my Lowepro Computrekker, it was the best i could find for the price (NZ$189). but its a little thick and i look like a turtle with it on.

and if i'm carrying a little more than a body with lens, i just trow it into my everyday backpack.
Otherwise i never bother with a bag (and lens cap).

How well does the Domke F-2 deal with inclement weather? I often find myself walking in rain with my camera bag...

I use old gas mask bag to carry my camera around. It has just enough space to fit my camera and flash.

I still use an old Domke from '94 that works great. I wouldn't mind getting a Orion Trekker II for heading out into the woods, though.

Awesome. I've been looking for a new camera bag. Planning to upgrade to a 40D soon, and my current bag is already feeling a bit tight with my XTi.

Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300 AW.

Fits everything you see in the picture. Except I don't have a 70-200. Yet.

Lowepro Stealth Reporter 500AW. Body with wide-zoom, big tele, flash, a couple of fast primes, UMPC and all the other assorted shit I carry around.
>> Anonymous
>>120332

Is there a laptop compartment in that one?

Can you take pics of it?
>> Anonymous
>>120333

Mine is the older 500AW, I believe the D500W that replaced it has the laptop compartment. My UMPC fits in one of the lens areas, no pics as I'm nowhere near my bag at the moment.
>> lowepro slingshot 200AW Anonymous
cause you can either have it in a backpack or shoulder bag config (and the pocket for the cam is a holster-type!)
http://products.lowepro.com/product/SlingShot-200-AW,2035,4.htm
caveat:
i still have to buy it.

lowepro AW nova 4 or someshit like that.
D300, D80, SB800, 50mm f/1.4, 24mm f/2.8, 4 filters, 25 AA batteries, 2 camera batteries, 4 CF cards, 5 SD cards, charger, and an 18-200vr (lol) for when i really need that extra reach for something. and theres still space in the bag.

Got it when i bought by XTi, I like it a lot. Can easily fit the DLSR and my Nikon N75 SLR and 2 lenses for each.

I use a Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home. It carries - 20D, Elan 7, 17-40 f/4L, 28-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/4L, 50 f/1.4, old flash pack, Sekonic light meter, verious filters, batteries, cable releases, film, step-up rings, and cigarettes (I don't smoke but I keep them there for models who smoke or need something to play with if they look too posed in the shot).
