I need a prosumer type digital camera so i can take naked pictures of my gf without giving a free show to the guys at the photo stop

so far the best deal i've found is the Fujifilm Finepix S700 7MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with a 2 gig SD card for about 230 dollars

is this good or no good?
>> ac
For taking dirty pictures of your girlfriend, you really don't need that huge zoom range. The key thing to look for is low light performance ('cause you'll be shooting indoors) and based on the picture there, that camera's max aperture is f/3.5.

f/3.5 is shit. Most reasonably good digitals give you at least f/2.8.

So look for a camera that gives you at least an f/2.8 max aperture and good high-ISO performance.

did you just call my gf dirty? >:(

Well, she's letting you take porngraphic pictures of her.

it's not like she isn't getting paid

I lol'd

signed. look for low-noise performance in the high iso range as well as the best open aperture size. Unfortunately, these two characteristics are very important in determining the price of the camera anyway, so you'll likely spend a bit more money for them.

Or you could go the cheapo sony nightshit (not a typo) route, to give those girlfriend/pornstar images a filthy, Paris Hilton theme - without ANY post-processing :P

you underestimate the skankyness of the woman involved

First thing I'd do is check your local craigslist and see if there's any crazy deals, then do your homework on THOSE deals, and see if they fit your needs.

if you want some skank shots then sure
for now you should be able to make due with this >>27438150

my girlfriend lets me record us having sex with my S3 IS with like totally perverted closeups and everything, but she doesn't let me take still images of her while fully clothed because she thinks she looks ugly in every one. go fucking figure.

i gotta clear it with her first. i'm head over heels in love with this one and she WILL dump me if she finds out i showed it to anyone.

I'd suggest the S3IS or the FZ-8. Both are slightly more expensive.

The FZ-8 is a much better camera overall, though IMO the S3IS offers better high ISO performance. It could just be that noise shows up more the FZ-8 because of its higher resolution sensor and the fact I shoot in RAW on it.

Don't feel pressured by ac to broadcast your intimate moments all over the interbutts.

They're yours and hers; we don't need them.

Don't you have a lover, ac?

Yes, but I'm a huge pervert.

>>49068
nah i actually get off on it. there's something about broadcasting yourself fucking a girl so that thousands of people see you doing it and are jealous that makes me feel, i dunno, manly.

ISO800 on the S3IS is virtually unusable. unless of course the goal is to create a ridiculously noisy photo.

pic related. stupid vacation-ruining sensor.

I haven't had to use the FZ-8 at ISO 800, but its ISO 400 is worse than the S3IS's. I'll have to do some tests.

ISO 800 on the S3IS is bad, but nowhere near unusable. You're measuring it against contemporary DSLRs. Try comparing the noise there to the grain on older high ISO films, i.e. the grain in a lot of photographs we all look up to. Noise and grain are inherant in the photographic medium; they're only a concern to the extent they disrupt the photograph.

well i just generally steer away from grain and noise. i like my photos crisp, sharp, smooth, and vibrant. i rather like how this one came out in that regard. can't remember the ISO i used for it. it's not included in the EXIF, is it?

Well, of course the less noise/grain the better, but it's important to keep these things in perspective. A good photograph is good even if it is noisy/grainy. The important things are getting the shot and exposure.

A good analogy I heard was that noise in a photograph is like the brushstrokes in a painting: best seamless, but really just part of the art.

As for the ISO, it's on there, but for some reasons the S3IS gives wonky ISO readings in its EXIF data. If I remember correctly, if it reads as 149, then it's actually 100. But I'm not sure.

ISO800 from a Fujifilm F30 is still pretty damn good, best of any P&S i must say

Agreed, if it's excellent high-ISO performance you're looking for in a compact camera, the Fuji F-series is top of the heap.
