/p/ i have a bunch of Velvia 100 film to develop. since slides are expensive to process (moreso than C41) should I just crossprocess it? any experiences with xpro Velvia? also what places do you guys like for having film developed? i'd like to get the images back on a photo CD. i used Coopers Imaging a bit, I was happy with the result but I was wondering if there was any place cheaper that did the same thing.

also I am sick of film because of its costliness now. i'm going to switch digital soon, looking at a Nikon D40/D40x. can i mount a holga lens myself? i don't want to pay $60~ for the one from holgamods.

Don't know about where you can get cheap developing, but you can always send your negatives off the scancafe.com to have them scanned super cheap.

If you need to know how to mount a holga lens do a quick google search. I have seen quite a few tutorials on the intarweb that show you how to mount a holga lens on your dig cam. It doesn't seem that hard, so you can prob. do it yourself.

Also, here's a Flickr set that shows you step-by-step how to modify the lens for your DSLR or SLR camera.

Oh wow. This is not a solution, unless your original intent was to cross-proc. you're just destroying your images. Besides, when you get them scanned, you can process them as you like much more to your taste digitally.

>I am sick of film because of its costliness now

Good idea. If you can't afford it, don't do it. Avoid shortcuts. The only reason to keep shooting is if you can't replicate the look or enjoy the feel of it for some reason(filmfag).

Also, you should know that your Holga lens will be entirely different on digital. On the 120 film it shoots, 60mm is a wide. On a D40, it's a medium telephoto. The only thing they'll share is that it sucks.

Also, if you want Nikon, get a D50. It's a better camera than the gimped D40 and D40x (and the also gimped D60).

film is only too expensive if you're making it too expensive.

are you having them print the slides, or mount them? get the film developed, few bucks a roll. uncut. cut it yourself, get sleeves, put them in there.

get a 200$ epson film scanner or pay a small price for web-quality scans.

it'll be less money in the long run than spending money on a shitty dslr, only using it to try to emulate a shitty lomography look, and upgrading all the time because you're unsatisfied with the camera.

i'm all for dslrs, but it seems stupid to buy one if you're going to use it to take such shitty photos, if you really want them to look like shit, just get a cheap point and shoot and fuck up the lens.

also, cross processing is retarded. it makes film look bad.

Until sensors can imitate the dynamic range of film and dSLR's can block bullets and last a million actuations, I'll keep thinking film is superior regardless of cost.

>Until sensors can imitate the dynamic range of film
It has already surpassed it
>and dSLR's can block bullets
That's not a property of film, it's a property of heavy-as-fuck 50 year old metal cameras. Write a letter.
>last a million actuations
No camera can without replacing part of the assembly, and you can do that with a DSLR too.

True that, and that's coming from a filmfag here.

@OP: I do hope you didn't shoot that Velvia 100 with your Holga.
