In this thread we post how much money we have spent in our LIVES on our camera gear / obsession. (so when someone else sends more we can feel better about it)
I will break it down into 3 categories, Don't list gear just follow the simple formula

Camera's - (Bodies, P&S's, disposables etc...)

Lenses - (if applicable, the amount you have spent on lenses, filters, adapters, etc, Flash's can go in here aswell, as well as minor cables, tripods, and lighting equipment)

Developing / printing - Just list the total price you think youve spent total on developing prints, developing equipment, frames, framing, paper supplies, ETC...

If theres anything else you think is of note add it and list why, and the sections can be altered. Heres me...

Camera's = $1600

Lenses = $3200

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

For the amount of money you spent, that picture really isn't all that flattering.

Compared to what we're spending on our digital gadgets and gizmos, you're really not that bad off. Plus, nothing truly beats film.

in b4 film vs digital

Yeah, except in this example it's more like doing some perverse proof of concept than anything else. Compare living on fast-food only for a month. Multiplying each number by ~5 wouldn't be out of place if you were valuing comfort over cost.

Camera's around $5000 maybe now, lenses probably more than that, I don't take photos anymore, I just collect rare high quality lenses and brag about how cool I am.

you forgot printing

For some film people the printing / developing section will be ridiculously high comparatively.

I use digital but the goal of taking pictures is to make prints, Either for other people (weddings) Or just pictures I like that i can put up on my walls.
Or to make money lol, but people generally just want the digitals if your shooting like amateur sports and whatnot.

I speant about...

Camera: 700$ (Nikon D50)
Lens: 100$ (Sigma 28-90 f/3.5-5)

I'm either going to get a new lens for my DSLR or buy a nikon FM with a lens, it'd both end up being around 200-300$
