Hey /p/ Anonymous
I'm looking to get into freelance photography.

do I have the skills needed?
do any of you have advice to improve?
what digital camera would be best for me to use?

Here are some of the best pictures I've taken, with my crappy cell phone and a disposable camera.

are you asking for trouble?

No, I genuinely want to learn more about photography. It's something I'd like to get into and even be paid for.

I feel the best way to learn something, is to ask people who are good at it.

unfortunately, i have almost nothing constructive to say, and i'm sure you wont get much more help (someone prove me wrong plz).
but that food is making me rather hungry.

It's difficult to make money with a degree in Photography, much less make a career unless you are really lucky, know the right people to help you along the way, have a real knack for what you're doing such as in any artistic endeavor.

I've seen someone do better than average macro photography with a camera phone and a magnifying glass, those were some skills that surpassed limited equipment. Look for good lighting, look for interesting angles. The second and third picture here are just snapshots. The first at least has a basic balanced composition but really needs to get in closer, which I'm sure you couldn't do. Read some art theory and start having fun. As for a camera, a canon powershot of some sort is a good relatively cheap way to get into it and learn, and they're small enough to take anywhere in a pocket.

Agreed. Car door in shot + asking if he has the skillz to be a pro photographer? If it's not a troll, I weep for the future.
