Holga tips & info? Anonymous
hello all,
I just ordered myself a Holga - the model with the glass lens and a flash. I've heard about light leaks and the back popping open easily. Does anyone else have tips on using them?

how much did you pay for it, we can get them here for $10~

I thought the light leaks and crappy lenses was part of the charm for the fans of it?

The camera is supposed to be shitty - enjoy it, for it makes up for your lack of photographic skills, apparently.

Wow, lots of great tips. Might as well ask at /b/.

tip #1: don't forget this is still 4chan.

What tips do you want? It's a crappy camera. It's meant to be crappy as part of the fun of them. You must have known what you were buying into. Other than that it's just an ordinary camera.

Light leaks aren't really a big problem for me. There is a little window on the back where you can see how many photos you've taken. You get light leaks from that; but to get by that I just took a small slice of duct tape and made a little fold that goes over this window to keep light out - it works fairly well.

As for the back coming off, just take some strips of Velcro (four square pieces of the rough side, two going on the front on each side of the lens and the other two going on the back, two straps of the soft side rap around from front to back) to hold the back on.
If this last part isn't clear I'll try to take some pics of my Holga to show you.

As for tips on using a Holga...Hmmm...I guess that depends on what you're planning on using your Holga for.

*rolls eyes*

Whatever. My Holga still isn't perfect. The back on my Holga still falls off, the Velcro just keeps it from happening as much. As for trying to limit light leakage, light still leaks through, I just tried to eliminate the most obvious source (which isn't a perfect fix).

Back to OP. Here's just an example of what you can get out of a Holga. This was a hand held long exposure shot at dusk.

cool shot.

I don't see the point in buying a Holga and then trying to fix it into a decent camera with duct tape and crap. You may as well buy a good one from day one.

Complete garbage. That kind of shot has been done with real cameras when someone accidentally set off the shutter without looking. It has no merits whatsoever.

agreed. Holgas are just for sheeple who flock towards it cause it's trendy and cultish.

There are lots of better 120 format cameras out there that are still technically limiting, but are not total shit that need to be held together by duct tape and velcro.

Who needs talent or any effort in your photography when you can hide it all under the shitty Holga results?

i don't think they are trying to make it better, its more making it stable. But I'm disappointed you bought the glass lens one because if you want the Holga looks why even bother, the plastic lens adds to the defects that you obviously like.

from what I've seen from /p/, barely anyone has talent here, and there is minimal effort. anon shouldn't act so uppity.
