i am in need of macro lens for my d80. is this lens good?

yea its pretty much between these two lenses. pros/cons?

You have to get really close to your subject with the 60. Ken Rockwell actually has a decent diagram of how much this sucks.

I have the non AF-S version of the 60mm. Beautiful lens.
But you really can't go wrong with either, and the 105mm gives you some breathing room if you plan to shoot insects.

Basically they don't make a bad macro lens. Just pick your working distance and enjoy.

Look at it this way: you don't need an f/1 normal lens for a rangefinder and a humidor to store it in.
