I love the hell out of my OM-1, but I'm probably going to have to buy a digital SLR in the near future. Are there any DSLRs with a similar feel to an OM-1? The thing I would want most is having aperture & shutter speed settings on the lens so I don't have to take my eye away from the viewfinder/light meter. Or is this problem now obsolete thanks to something i'm clueless about/will just have to get forced to be used to?

The OMs and the Nikkormat FTs were pretty much it for that style. Any two-wheel DSLR should net you an experience close to it, though.

I'm quite certain that any modern DSLR displays aperture ans shutter speed settings in the viewfinder, so there's no need to take your eye away from the 'finder.

A lot of newer film slr's as well. It's all in the viewfinder.

The better ones will even tell you the ISO in the viewfinder.

No digital SLR has shutter speed on the lens mount, and a lot of lenses don't have aperture rings now (or the cameras require the ring to be set to "auto" position).
HOWEVER, all DSLRs display shutter speed and aperture in the viewfinder, so you shouldn't have any problems using the control wheels without taking your eye off the viewfinder.

If you want a camera body *shaped* like the OM-1, you're pretty much limited to Olympus E-4xx series, as all other DSLRs have big right hand grips.

Look into the Leica M8. Other than the price, it should be exactly what you are looking for.

Except how a rangefinder is a completely different type of camera than an SLR and how Leica Ms have the shutter speed control on the top, yes, it's EXACTLY like an Olympus OM-1.

Is this some botched reference to Rollei cameras? If so, please clarify.

Is this some botched reference to some lame food product/marketing creation I vaguely remember watching ads for as a little kid? If so, what?

Or as you just being silly/stupid? If so, please get out.

Interestingly, the OM-1 tends to be hailed as the only SLR that Leica M-fags will use, so it works in the reverse direction. I can see where they're coming from though - the OM is sooo tiny, and has just about the greatest SLR viewfinder ever.

I don't know what model, but I've seen a photograph of Koudelka with an old manual Olympus. Don't know enough about them to tell OM-1, OM-2, etc apart, though.
