Thanks. That party was a little stressful for me because it was the first time I had shot with a speedlight (rented, not used for this picture, obviously) and with a fast prime lens (borrowed).

I chased him ALL night. He seemed to be able to tell when I was taking a picture of him or someone right next to time, and he'd look right at the camera. Finally, after a few drinks...

Agreed. The thumbnail makes it look inconsequential, but the expression in the full size picture is what makes the shot.
