Question About Digital Cameras... Anonymous
I am contemplating getting a digital camera. The camera I have in mind is this one... a Kodak 8.2MP Digital Camera - C813. Has anyone used this before? How is it? How big can you get the photos when uploading them to your computer; I'm looking for a 1920 x 1200 resolution on my end.

How big is 8.2 Megapixels, widthwise and heightwise?

It depends on the camera and sensor size.

If 1.9 MP translates as 1600×1200, then 8.2 MP should be FUCK HUGE.

For just getting 1920X1200 resolution out of a camera, look for 4X that, so you can have perfect color resolution. [Due to 1/4 photosites being "blue", 1/4 being "red" and 1/2 being "green" you need 4X downsized if you really care about perfect 1920X1200 color resolution.]

So...roughly: 1920X1200 = 2.3MP X 4 = 9.2MP therefore simply grab something with around 10MP.

Real world advice: It doesn't matter. For noncropped monitor viewing, all modern digicams will be sufficient.
But don't get the damn Kodak. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I hate the things. Just grab a Canon Powershot A-series - standard /p/ advice.

I looked it up... $119.99; $20 more than the Kodak one but I saw the sample pictures taken by the Canon... BLEW ME THE FUCK AWAY.

I'm sold. I'll have to wait a bit longer but I think it'll be worth the wait. My first visit here in /p/ and I'm already impressed by how awesome this board is. :D Thanks!!
