THE D80 again Anonymous
Ok P,

ive got my digit hanging over the "BUY" button for a Nikon D80 with 18-135mm lens.

£600 ($1200 U.S)

...DO i buy the sucker? The canon 400 doesnt do shit for me, dont know why.

Someone tell me im doin it right...
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Do it!

And let the English *see* you do it!

Make sure you know what you are getting and from where/what country.

I'd think the 18-70mm would be a better choice from what a lot of the Nikon users seem to be saying, but that seems to be a good price for new if it doesn't already include the cashback offer.

..i AM English.

am i missing something here? £ is worth 2X dollar...

Tsk, tsk. Braveheart reference.

If that is the case then you may as well buy it from the UK or a European dealer. You can get it for that price with the cashback in the UK easily. Much easier to deal with if it all goes up shit creek too. You're not saving much and risking more.

Warehouse express would sell it for the same price and www.bestcameras.co.uk would give you a two year guarantee for a little more. Plenty other shops to have a look around with.

It's not like I spend my time doing proper work when I can skive off and watch films. :P

D80 is 699€ in Finland. 89€ from MB-d80. 18-70mm 200€ new.

Nice prices there...

Sorry. Forgot $ is worthless right now.

It's a UK buyer, so your advice is still good. Don't worry.

OP here: its too late people.. i bought it already. As per usual i should of waited for chan to decide the fate.

SO, besides having to go through the shop for the warranty (they cover it so i cant claim cashback, grrr)... its not a terrible deal right?

Weirdly the thing that put me off the canon 400 was the grip... thats all.. the grip is tiny, and the menus looked shit.

Costing me a hella lot of money to put that right...

so uh its too late to say have a look at the A100 as a cheaper alternative then.

After 14000 snapshots I can say that D80 is pretty nice camera, if you don't mind the horribly sucky matrix metering (center weighed and spot are good as usual).
