DIY Flexible Flash Bracket Anonymous
Holy shit, this is awesome!
I was going to buy a fixed flash bracket, but this is more useful AND cheaper.

looks like one of these gorilla pod things.
>> Anonymous
>>185547

OP here,

Yeah, it definitely seems like a rip off of one of those, but much more useful for a DSLR user since the GorillaPod won't work with a heavy camera.

I especially like how he made versions with clamps on the end for holding reflectors or attaching the flash to surrounding objects.

Pentax users are advised to keep their lens caps on in the presance of lesser cameras for fear of destroying them out of the pure awesome that spreads out from their glorious innards.

Do people actually use flash brackets?
I normally just hold my flash at arm's length to either side...
Awkward sometimes, but it costs $0.00 and has a wide range of motion.
>> Anonymous
>>185613

that sure sounds like a winning combination when you want to zoom in or out or if the lens is huge
>> Anonymous
>>185634

Huge lenses are for faggots.
Zoom first, then hold out the flash.

I guess a crippled fag who can't hold up a 2lb camera like you might want to use a flash bracket though.

Where the fuck are you going where you need that shit?
I see you fags with your XTi and your battery grip thinking you're hot shit, not realizing that the battery your camera came with is all you really need.

You don't have a clue.
Have you ever used a verticle grip?
It's not just about the extra battery.
>> Anonymous
>>185695
£300 ish is a shit load for an extra grip.

Just turn the camera on its side, put one had on the top and put the other...oh yeah...on the lens ¬_¬

Vertical grip?
Jesus christ what kind of pussy can't hold a camera vertical as-is?

>>185726
MAYBE a point, but unless you're pro or semi-pro this shouldn't be a problem.
The kit batteries are usually good for 400-600 shots or more, which is more than adequate for most day trips if you aren't shooting in bursts.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
VGs are comfortable for people with non azntiny hands. I can easily hold my A100+11-18+56H with one hand horizontally (WHILST FOCUSING MANUALLY), but friends with larger hands find it much harder, so they have the VG.

I want one, but without any dials on the A100 ones i wont get one (no offical one).

I'm buying the parts right now.
Do you think 1/2" is good enough? Or should I do 3/4"?
>> Martin !!ve2Q1ETWmJH
>>185757
Direct quote from site:

>For the setup I made, I used the 1/2? fittings at 6 beads long, but It didn’t seem strong enough to hold my Pentax 540 flash(380 g) so I moved to 3/4?. If your flash weights around 380 grams or more I suggest you use the 3/4? system. If you are using a smaller slave type flash, you should be able to use the 1/2? system.

It's not just for an extra grip, it's for shooting "portrait" orintation as opposed to "landscape"
It's *much* more stable then controlling the camera by holding it at the top.
Again, have you used a verticle grip? Do you use telephoto lenses?
>>185738
It's not about 'being a pussy'
Do you use verticle grips? Have you ever?
It is more stable and gives better balence to the camera.

And yes, some people really do need the extra battery life.

So why give someone shit for having a verticle grip/battery holder. Since you're the ones putting people down, where is your resume? Tell me you great pro's why a verticle grip/battery holder is so stupid. Educate me, I must not know anything.

Who the FUCK holds it at the top?
When I shoot portrait WITHOUT A FUCKING VERTICAL GRIP, I hold the camera with the regular grip at the BOTTOM like a normal human being, and my other hand supporting the lens.

uh, the top is the usual way to hold it because its more natural to bend your wrist that way. holding it at the bottom is awkward because you have to pull your arm in to your body weird and have to bend your wrist backward. its even worse if you look through your viewfinder with your left eye.

holding it at the top is more stable and ergonomic. too many hands on the bottom if you hold it at the bottom and awkard to hold to the eye.

i agree with you about vertical grips, but please for the love of god stop spelling it "verticle"
>> Einta !!MWv3ICYobCM
I am a tad flabbergasted that anyone is mentioning battery life with regards to a vertic_al_ grip. Wtf, people?

Is it really that hard to switch batteries? Just buy a couple extra 3rd party batteries and switch when you get low. The convenience of having an extra battery already in the grip seems very, very minor. Sure, they had to use that space in the vertical grip somehow, so why the hell not? But it's barely worth mentioning.

Now, for extensive portrait shooting I can see getting a vertical grip. Most particularly if I had heavy glass or to a lesser degree a heavier camera.

>>185816
You're a real freak if you switch to portrait orientation by moving your right (grip) hand to the bottom. I guess I can see doing that. IF I use my thumb for the shutter...
>> Anonymous !SDPEsPMnww

Some of us have anal manufacturers that wont let you use a 3rd party battery and have to spend $lol on one of theirs.
