First Ever Film.. Anonymous
Right /p/,

Am a total noob when it comes to film (never even used a disposable point and click....)

Just got this rangefinder, and want to use it... so first question... HOW!!

I seriously mean every little detail, how do i load film... unload film, and one big question, how do i judge what the shutter speed should be at, and rly for this the speeds are rubbed off, what can i do?

Pic related, its the shutter speeds ( i think ) worn off...

>how do i load film... unload film
You must unscrew and take off the bottom lid. Look up how it's done on early Leicas (II or III), Zorki uses a similar mechanism.

>how do i judge what the shutter speed should be at
An external light meter, Sunny 16 rule or experience.

>the speeds are rubbed off, what can i do?
Find an image of the top plate of a working Zorki 4, use a thin permanent marker (or better yet, an engraving tool) to copy the shutter speed numbers to your camera.

Before you load the film, unscrew the lens and check if the shutter operates correctly. Cloth shutters on these things are extremely prone to deforming and jamming.

Thanks allot mate!

Looking up how to load the film now,

IS there anything i can do abotu the speeds been rubbed off?? Anyone have a high detail shot of the dial and i can recreate the numbers from that (i can make out 1000, 500, 250)

I think thats happend....

Took the back off, had a look, clocked the shutter, let a frame off, the cloth got stuck, i have to move the first side a bit, then the second side snappes across.... no matter how long i leave it, can it be fixed? is it fked?

Should be 1, 1/2, 1/5, 1/10, 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000.

One more warning before you use it: NEVER rotate the shutter speed dial when the shutter is not cocked. There's some fuck-up in the mechanism that causes it to misfire or break otherwise.

Scratch that, I fail.

1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000.

If the cloth isn't deformed or cracked, it probably can be fixed by cleaning and re-lubricating the shutter mechanism - however, this should be done by a specialist, and I'm not sure it's worth the hassle for a $20 camera.

Get an Yashica Electro or some other inexpensive fixed-lens rangefinder. They're smaller, quieter, more reliable, plus usually equipped with better lenses than your Industar.
