Sigma 24-70 vs. Nikon 24-70 Anonymous
I want to buy a 2.8 zoom for my D80 and I'm reading reviews about the Sigma 24-70 which seems PERFECT except no VR.

Then I searched for prices on B&H, how come the Nikon version is fucking FOUR TIMES the price?

Okay, it's an original Nikon lens but what the FUCK?

Why would I buy the Nikon when the Sigma is the same for $400?

ROFL

I'll call those people fucking faggots.

I don't know about these two lenses, but IS is really useful, at all focal lengths. If you're doing it right (that is, picking a focal length based on desired perspective and not magnification) IS is just as useful at 10mm as it is at 1000mm.

Why does the resale value matter when you're buying a lens? Lenses are tools, not investments.

1) The Nikkor will hold its value much better
2) The Nikkor is built better
3) The Sigma take stupid 82mm filters
4) The Nikkor beats the Sigma in optical performance by a large margin. The Sigma 24-70 is not known for stellar optical performance, while the Nikkor is known for being extremely sharp.

If you are a pro they can be both.

I think you people underestimate the brand snobs that are out there, People are selling their old 60mm Micro's, just because Nikon released a new af-s version. 300mm f2.8's are sold and bought again to get af-s II, rather than af-s I. All for extreme costs and very marginal increases in performance / picture quality.

Why do real manual focus Zeiss lenses sell for ridiculous amounts, why do technology-retarded Leica bodies sell for so much.

i hope OP realizes that the Nikkor mentioned is perhaps one of the most amazing Nikkors ever made along with the AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8.

I'll be honest, I was just trolling.

I don't give a fuck about 24-70 when I can have 17-55.

Sigma 24-60 f2.8 is considered to be better than the 24-70's and they often go onsale online for as low as 199 new (Amazon had a few sales on them)

Unless you are taking about the Nikkor...
