I need help, /p/.A friend of mine has charged me with finding her a cheap compact digital camera that she can use with a remote shutter trigger. I want to recommend her a Canon A-series because that's always the answer but unfortunately it's not because none of the Canons work with remote triggers. Does anyone know of anything that will fit this requirement?EXIF data available. I can think of three options:1. A-series and a peanut slave trigger. Use the A's onboard flash to trigger the slave flash(es). Obviously not the best idea since you might not want direct light.2. G-series. Those have hot shoes and are compact. You're gonna have to go for an older model if you want to satisfy the "cheap" requirement, though.3. [Placeholder for someone who theoretically knows about compacts with hot shoes other than Canon]
>>107984Remote shutter, not remote flash. She needs a compact with a cable release to be more specific.
>>107985Ohhh. Sorry, misread.Quick google suggests that the G6 had a wireless remote as an option but the G7 didn't. They're up to G9, so the G6 should be reasonably cheap by now, seems like.
>>107988Yeah I just found that. Apparently my old S1 IS works with that remote as well but mine's broken otherwise I'd just give that to her. I really don't want to recommend her a used camera that might have some quirks to it because she knows fuck all about cameras/photography and would probably blame me for whatever's wrong with it.
>>107989Does she have an actual specific need for a remote trigger? Would she be able to work with just a timer?
>>107991I haven't had the chance to ask her what she wants it for yet but that was initially my first instinct and it will probably be what I end up telling her to do with the Canon A570 IS that I will recommend her.
I like the composure of this image but I'm a foot guy...
