Also here's the first "good" picture I think I've taken with my new D40. Excuse the HDR but I thought it works well with the metal.

I want an owl!

Just some old beat up halogen light. I should probably get a new one, along with some better paper for the back drop. The paper thats on there now has some weird color variations to it.

I'm not sure if he would want to sell the owl he gave it to my grandmother as a gift. Plus he has over 30 hours or so in it, so I doubt it would come very cheap.

Did he do it to see if he could or because he enjoys it?
He should make a few small pieces to show. Stuff like this would blow up your local art community, if you have one. It's seriously great.

>>129836
Yes he does enjoy doing it. We have a bunch of frogs and flowers that are a lot faster to make than the owl was. One of which he entered into our local fair a while ago and it got best in show. But we haven't really been marketing them. If you guys really like them half as much as you seem to maybe I should tell him to look into it.

Just put one up on eBay and see what happens.

Yes

you think you can do one with a darker background with light shining through? I think that might look cool

Yes I will, I just need to go get some new backdrop paper for my light box. All I have right now is this shitty white paper that varies in thickness and puts of different colors.

Also here is the frog from my last thread for those who haven't seen it.

sounds like you made the lightbox out of shit you had around the house anyway. that's what I did. I actually use a pair of 500 watt work lamps on either side, it gives it a nice even lighting. and I can use really fast shutter speeds at ISO 100. Shadows are nice sometimes, too.

tl;dr background looks fine. don't pay for shit you don't have to.
