In before the Eiffel Tower, comments on copyright, and photographs of women in panties.

OP here.

Well, I WAS gonna post another of a shot of the Eiffel Tower I took... but... no, I still will.

Also, that picture is 100% me. I've had it sittin' on my hard drive for about 3 years now.

>>92678
That's not what I meant. It's technically illegal in France to photograph the tower because the design is copyrighted or something like that, and whenever someone posts it in /p/, someone brings that up.
>> Anonymous
>>92678Also, that picture is 100% me.

Oh wow... you know, I'm insanely impressed. Go you. Woohoo.

OP

Lol, I didn't even know that about the Eiffel Tower. You'd think more people would know about it, considering the amount of tourism Paris sees.
>> Anonymous
Jesus christ that picture fucking sucks
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

Only at night. It's the lighting design that's copyrighted, you see.

And they don't go after tourists. They will, however, go after people who try to sell pictures of it.

Well, now I know. Thanks.

You don't know the old schoolyard rhyme?

"I see London/England, I see France, I see someone's underpants."

And this is 4chan.

I don't understand what that's got to do with copyrights and the Eiffel Tower.

Nothing. But I've decided that this thread is now about panties.

I think he meant the model's own. Which is, in fact, the case. Why would I have her wearing someone else's undies?

>>92903
Why? My kit lens was convenient (wide to tele without having to switch glass) and I was shooting with strobes so I could keep it around f/8 where it's optimally sharp. If you think the second one's a bit fuzzy, you should know that that's nearly a 1:1 crop (worksafe board. Had to remove the good bits)
>> Anonymous
>>92910

You might know this already, but I've seen some testing that shows the kit lens gets better MTF rating across the frame at f/11 than 8, which is more centre sharpness. Not a criticism of you or your work, just something you might want to try. I wouldn't mind seeing some more of your work. I'd enjoy it more than the latest "what camera" or "was this purchase good" thread.

Interesting. I didn't know that.

Of course, I just (as in, yesterday) upgraded to the new 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, so it's possible that they're different...
>> Anonymous
>>92919

Could be, I've heard some people swear that they've tweaked the optics along with the better build and IS. Might just be the improvements from IS or new user excitement, but I wouldn't put it past Canon after such a heavy revamp. I'm waiting until there's enough tests out there to show a consensus. The IS alone though is such a bargain as it works so well. They didn't even put in a lesser form of IS, it's the real deal. The kit lens was good for the money before but now it's the best value budget lens (and the only one with IS I believe) you can get on Canon as far as bang for buck goes.

Did you try testing it out straight away to see the difference hand held with IS makes?

Haven't done any real comparisons. I did do a few little tests, though, like taking pictures of random boring crap on my desk at 1/5th.

I'm digging the better build quality and the .3mm-closer minimum focus distance (since my kit was always my go-to lens for anything macroish). Motor's a bit buzzy (it's not USM like some sites are claiming) but no more so than the motor on my 35/2.0.

Also: Moar panties.

Sounds good. I suppose a USM motor might have been too much to ask on top of all the other improvements. The idea of that kind of stabilisation and useable hand held shots with those sorts of shutter speeds still amazes me. It adds possibilities and flexibility that never existed for most people until now. Getting that in the form of the new kit lens too is even more fantastic. It seems a big leap forward in the technology.

Panty shots are always welcome, especially nice ones like that.

Yeah, Nikon just raised the bar by announcing their own 18-55 VR and, added bonus, making it the new kit lens. I wonder how long it'll take Canon to do the same.
>> Jeremo !iKGMr61IHM
>>92937

Makes me wonder if they're giving up on the 18-70... and where is my god damn VR for the 17-55... actually better it doesnt make it... so the value of my 17055 doesn't plummet
>> Anonymous
Apparently the Canon 18-55 IS has a circular aperture too, that's another bonus. Certainly a worthwhile upgrade from the original for many.

I love it when Nikon and Canon have these little "arms races". The consumer always comes out on top.

your right, but it also fuels stupid flamewars too...
