Nice trolling.

OP, that shot is actually pretty good, other than the sun in the frame thing that was already mentioned.

Sorry I can't be of any help with this one. Never tried shooting a sunrise.

OP here,

I work early in the morning and the sunrise is currently around 5am which is just as I am on my way to work. I think these pictures are great - its just the damn lens flare from a direct shot of the sun that ruins them.

Does no one on here have any experience with filters?

Thanks for the advice about not putting the sun in the shot, but that kind of misses the whole point of shooting a sunrise.

Pic: Another photo from same shoot as OP pic. A beautiful photo ruined by lens flare.

I did that already. The question is "How do you photograph the sun without lens flare?", not "What do you think of my picture?". Note the OP pic said "Pic related". I don't care much what you think of my photos.

Pic related.

Great photo! Too bad about the lens flare.
>> Anonymous
i would adjust the ISO settings and aperture speed until an acceptable frame is taken.
lens flare is because of the light source hitting the lens and sometimes must be allowed for the shots you have taken.

>>lens flare is because of the light source hitting the lens and sometimes must be allowed for the shots you have taken.
so i should take off my lens so i dont get any pesky lens flare?
>> Anonymous
if you are shooting directly into the light source, then lens flare is the result. but by adjusting the settings ,the result can be modified into something that can be successful.

no lens flare in that pic, my statement still stands.

if you dont want lens flare, dont take a pic of the sun that is coming up directly over the horizon..

you could try out an ND/graduated ND filter too
