Practice.
Here are the tips: first image has a too distracting background. If you're going to do macro photographs use a large depth of field by using an X Box sized aperture [like a 2.6 or some ridiciously small number], that'll blurr out the background. Also, if you're gonig to do still life, like those statue cherubs, play around with light and shadow more, and use a bedsheet or something as a background, that way it dosen't look like you set it down on some random table. Test angles, too. Take more than one photo of the same image from different perspectives; experiment.
