Best focus is achieved at about f/8 - f/11, play around. Also, if you're crazy about quality try setting the iso to 100 or lower.

Ever heard of diffraction ? Smaller than f/8 is bad.

Diffraction is hardly noticeable untill you get around f22, unless you're looking at it through a loupe.

K100D - another pentax shooter, awesome.
i shoot a k10d, i love the new pentax bodies.

Also, f8 is generally where the majority of lens are at their sharpest.

F8 will also give you a good DOF, meaning that the focus does not have to be exact.

I'm a photo student, so I'm not an expert by any means. Since I know I'm not sure of f-stops, I would do f-8 through f-11 or 12 and see what comes out best. Is there an easier way to figure out what's best depending on the lighting situation? And what about studio lighting (spot with filter and bounce-off)?
