More scanned slides for those who are interested. All my parents work, all from 1980-1983. Ektachrome and Kodachrome.
Canoscan 8800f used, no auto settings, manual color balance and exposure set for each one by hand. roughly averages out to about 10 minutes a slide to edit and scan and everything.

Heres the gear they used for those who care. Pictures will follow

wow, this is like, first awesome thread ever.
>> Automatic scan ppj
My parents have over 9000 slides (and I'm not joking) and about as much old photos dating from 1970 to 2002, the year we all changed to digital cameras. How can I digitize such an amount? I mean, I won't be sitting there to check and photoshop each slide for 10 minutes , it's just insane. So my question is - do autoscanners re-balance hue saturation and such things, because it's a hell lot of work to do otherwise.

get a real scanner, not a flatbed one like this. also just scan the "best" slides, not all of them...
and yes scanners have auto hue, they usually just aren't very good...

Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 with SF-210 Slide feeder, will do 50 slides in one batch.

Dude, that's like 1800 dollars. Just use the Canoscan 8800f for 200 dollars like Vincent. But be prepared for over 9000 hours of scanning shit.

Coolscan 4000 with the slide feeder, will do 50 slides in one batch, it's slightly cheaper!

Ya Coolscan's are the way to go if you can afford them, they get better image quality aswell.
Though my 10 minutes includes editing in photoshop aswell. So that 40 seconds is probably more like 4 minutes when all is said and done.
