Hi /p/. As I'd only trust your well formed opinions, I want to ask you this. This guy has a couple of cameras for sale.

1) Zenit E
2) LEICA copy RARE Russian camera FED 5B USSR (No Idea?)
3) LEICA copy camera FED-5V Russian OLYMPIC EDITION
4) LOMO SMENA-SYMBOL camera.

Which one should I get? If none, you can tell me, I know you well /p/.

If they're cheap enough, get all 4. If they're not cheap, stay away.

yeah, all old Russian made cameras arnt worth much. have a look on ebay to see comparative prices. but you honestly shouldn't be paying much at all. $30 at most if they work.

remember they are copies of leicas and so have much shiter lenses.

I don't understand why would you want one? Except for collective purpose they are shitty at best.

They're all crap, and I don't see why would you want to torment yourself with using either. But if you absolutely need to, get the Zenit, it has the best features and most solid construction of the bunch. And you'll get a semi-ok M42 lens with it (Helios), reusable for some macro work with a reversal ring.

But if you pay more than $10 for the Zenit, or $5 for any of the rest (all in working order), you'll be getting badly ripped off by someone trying to cash on their alleged "collectors value". Which, trust me, they don't have.

OP here. Thanks for your advice. This guy was selling em for like 50 or 60 USD. Which immediately set off alarm bells. Thank god for /p/.

That limited edition FED-5V may be actually worth $50, but only if you're a collector of USSR cameras. Otherwise, it's stupid to pay three times the price just for the '80 olympic logo engraved on the side.
