FREEDOM FRIES

your WB is waaaaaaaaay off...any chance you shot this in tungsten (or equivalent?) mode?

as for the picture itself, it's nothing spectacular, just a snap of some trees around a lake.

Too many blacks.

i didn't use tungsten, although i understand why you asked. surprisingly, that photo is more or less spot on for the colors i saw on scene.

i cranked up the contrast a smidge and gamma a teeny, teeny smidge.

lol ok then. what lens was used to take this? there seems to be a lot of CA or blur...

stock 18-70mm lens f/3.5 is the max. what would you suggest to do more experimenting in this style?

if i had to do it again i would compose differently/better, use a tripod and bring the exposure time up.

the ISO and aperture are maxed- i think i just got lucky, but it's a kind of shot i'd like to do more of.

i blew it out some more- don't know if that helps. looks a tad fakey to me, but the colors...the colors...

It's really murky and muddy. Also shit compression (?) FTL. It kind of looks like an image from 1996, when photos were scanned from drugstore prints on Kodak Gold and had the shit compressed out of them to fit on a geoshitties page.

I'm really quite surprised that came out of a D70.

I am surprised as well.

no offense...but this is really, really bad.
>> TheGeneral !m7n7x2Yyfo

blowing it out doesn't help any. All your recommendations were sound, tripod, longer exposure and recomposition.

try and get a faster lens though so you won't have to bump your ISO up so much.
>> Anonymous
I quite like the colours in the OP pic but it would have been way better if you used a tripod, lower ISO and stopped down to f8 or f11.

it was taken in hand after sunset on a day with 100% overcast, so i'm surprised i got anything at all. a tribute to the camera more than anything.

sometimes PP does horrible things to a picture...

this looks like it was taken by a pre-2003 Point and Shit and then raped in photoshop several times over.
