I think your buying habits are your own business and I honestly don't give a shit.

Sage.

i simply meant for 5 to 10 years from now where ff dslr's will be common place.

neat

Yes, I understand what you mean. Why would you limit yourself to full-frame lenses other than because you were planning to one day use them on a full frame camera?

Still don't care.

Saging again.

exactly, why not buy them when you cant get those focal lengths on on FF equiv, i.e wide angles. you can always sell them when you go FF and get most of your money back.
it seems ignorant to ignore lenses like the 17-55's, sigma 30mm, and all the wideangles if your shooting on a crop.

I have the same plan as op. Even full frame doesnt seem that far away anymore. I suck at selling shit, so I'm better off buying stuff that will last with in good care.

Fantastic. Still don't give a good goddamn.

Also don't care about your buying habits, but this is flawed in several ways.

1. Full frame DSLRs are already commonplace. They won't ever be the thing used for most DSLRs, though. It's not an issue of technology but of economics: they cut these chips off big wafers. Lots of them are flawed and have to be discarded. Larger chips = higher probability that a chip is flawed = higher percentage of flawed chips = more waste = higher costs for the company = higher cost for the customer = lower sales = less revenue for the company etc. etc.

2. A camera that takes photographs of sufficient quality now will do so, barring failure, in ten years. Don't be an upgradewhore.

You know since it was 4:3 to go with most monitors, why wasnt it 5:4?

I try to stick to 35mm coverage lenses because I want to get some film bodies and I dont want to suddenly loose 1/2 my lenses.

I support op and Butterfag's suggestion. It's called smart investment and getting more bang for your buck.

Besides, wouldnt having both crop cams and full frame ones work with the same lenses pretty much mean a lot more flexibility?

yeah, but this is a really, _really_ fucking pointless thread.

>bang for your buck

I measure "bang for my buck" in terms of the images. If there's a lens that gives me the results I want, it doesn't matter what it goes on, so long as I at least have something it can make a photograph with.

No since settling for a mediocre lens just because it will go on a hypothetical body you don't even own, or even if you do own it.

Wrong choice of words, my bad. I meant a longer-lasting investment. Just because it's designed for a bigger body, it doesnt mean it's useful in the small body.

thanks for reminding me that sony makes the fugliest DSLRs ever

No, you missed my point. Say I like the look produced by lens "x," but it only covers an APS-C sized sensor. Is that a reason not to buy it, provided I have a camera which will mount the lens and which has an APS-C sized or smaller sensor?
>> I||ICIT !!mknjFN/v/49
>>153363
no thats not a reason to ignore it.

unless of course that same "look" can be achieved by another FF lens...
though i dont buy for a "look" i buy cos its the focal length and speed i need; i.e sigma 30 1.4 has NO competition in terms of its focal length, price and speed. FYI canon 35L is not in the same league obviously.

thing is, to say your only going to buy FF lenses immediately voids a wide angle for you straight away.

Damn, im all wet for that lense in OP's pic. Even though i have the 85/1.2L II
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Some people want cheap and wide on their current APS-size sensors.
Some people want all of their lenses to be able to work with full frame and are willing to take the monetary hit and/or loss of available focal lengths to do so.

Both valid choices.

I don't care which one you choose.
