Ok I've been trying to mimic a cross processed holga-esque type picture with photoshop.

How do you think I did?

Not so bad, but the real thing looks better.

I think that vignetting is too large and I'm not sure I like teh blur.

You over-saturated it, selected around the picture with the lasso and then selected the inverted and changed the levels of it to make vignetting and a bit of motion blur or any other blur?

no no no not how do you think he did IT.. how do you think he DID. like good job/bad job.

i'd love to give an opinion but i have no idea what cross-processing or holga is.

Vignetting's a little too heavy (I think. It's heavier than I get with my Diana, not sure if Holgas vignette more). And down by the bottom, the vignetting makes it look like she's wearing thigh-highs or something.

Other than that, pretty close.

Also, /r/ more pictures of the cute redhead.

A Holga is an old, Chinese-made "toy" camera. I.e., the goal of the design was to be cheap enough for the camera to be given away at fairs and such. They usually have plastic lenses (although Holgas with glass lenses are available), usually have a few light leaks due to the wide tolerances the all-plastic body has to have to fit together, and have pretty pronounced vignetting since the quote-unquote-lens on those things just barely hits the whole frame of the film.

Lots of artfags like 'em because of the unique images they produce with the low-fidelity aesthetic and the unique pattern of light leaks you'll get on each camera.

Extra Bonus: They use rolls of 120 instead of 35mm.

I've got a Diana, which is like a Holga but smaller and older.

so then it's basically a piece of garbage for use by people disinterested in photography and having low demands for the quality of their photos, but adopted by people who think that working with huge self-imposed creative restrictions is super duper elite?

Yep.

And don't knock it 'till you've tried it. There's a lot to be said for working with huge super-duper creative restrictions.
