Holga Anonymous
Anyone have any holga pics? I love the way they turn out some times, and I plan on buying one with my Christmas money. In return, cute baby shot I took.

Don't have any Holga shots, but I've got a shot from my Diana, which is very similar.

I just read about Dianas today. Are they a lens for Holgas, or a lens for normal cameras, or a whole camera? I couldn't really figure it out.

Whole camera. Basically a precursor to the Holga. Uses 120 like the Holga, but takes smaller pictures on it (4x4cm, as I recall, instead of 6x6cm. But don't quote me on that)

Holgas are for faggots and emos. Get a real camera.

Sagefag is sage...

And not everyone can afford a D40 or something... Hell, I can't even afford a Rebel. I'm just trying to keep up with my photography without spending a fortune. When I get the cash, maybe a Powershot of some sort, but I don't have a job, so I can't afford to buy a high end DSLR right now...

But you can afford to buy and process medium format film. Lulz. Buy a cheap film SLR.

The guy you're responding to is an ass, but he ain't wrong. If you want a camera for getting the extremely specialized Holga look, get a Holga. If you want to get a camera for photography, get something else. Doesn't have to be digital SLR. Even something like an old medium-format TLR would serve you better, and cost about the same.

(My Yashica A cost $30, for example. I got my Diana at a Goodwill for $5, which is about the max I was willing to pay for a camera like that)

If they coated every Holga sold in poison the world would be a better place.

Is Medium format that much more expensive than regular film to develop?

same price at the shop I use

Depends on how you look at it. It's about the same per square millimeter of film just to develop it, but printing's more expensive in my experience (mostly just because of the form factor), and you have to remember that the same amount of film that gives you 36 shots in 135 is about 12 in medium formats.
