A friend of mine took this picture of my garden at like half past midnight, with no lights on using the light-gathering option thing.
Personally I think it's pretty nifty, but, what does /p/ think?

only if you think over-exposed images are interesting and enjoy your eyes being raped by bloom.

The lawn is too bright and takes away from the photo; even if the lighting wasn't insta-fail the composition would still be boring.

I don't speak for all of /p/, but I think that if you think this is nifty, your camera privileges should be revoked.

yeah, you should concentrate on taking boring photos. it's really the only way to progress as an artist. instead of taking risks, experimenting, seeing what works and what doesn't, you should focus all of your efforts on pumping out the same old cliches day after day.

to be honest, this is a lousy photo. or, rather, it's not a finished photo. this is, at best, a doodle. keep exploring this idea, and you'll get a sketch, then an illustration, then a painting.

tl;dr: shitty photo, interesting idea. explore interesting idea and makes less shitty photos.

How is this an interesting idea?

It's his backyard, at night, overexposed. I'm all for the whole "Take risks, see what works, see what doesn't" thing, but if he can't recognize that this falls firmly into the "doesn't" category, I can't see how he's ever going to get anywhere as a photographer.

In fact, on further consideration, I'm inclined to believe that this thread is a troll.

this is /p/ for photography. not /ar/ for art.

Now I know it's a troll.

Protip: Look at your EXIF. The "light-gathering option thing" is just opening the shutter for sixty seconds.

What was the set up for the picture? I might use that around the beach........... Only not as over expossed.
