sup /p/

me and my bandmates went down to our local forrest to take some 'trookvlt bm' photos. It was fairly dark, so we used 'Night + Portrait' mode, put it on a tripod and set the timer. We stood in the shot still until the photo was taken, so I'm really not understanding how THE FUCKING CAMERA SAW THROUGH US.

Is there an explanation for why this happened? because I can't for the life of me work it out.

If it helps, it was taken with an Olympus FE-120.

Easy enough, it started exposing the picture before you got to your places.

I bet you're the guy on the very left.

If i remember right night mode works by taking a flash shot for foreground detail then leaves the shutter open for an extended period for background detail. If you moved out of frame right after the flash went off you end up with the effect seen.

Did you go drive a Delorean back in time and stop your parents from falling in love?

Thing is, 2 of us were standing there the whole time, didn't move until it beeped, letting us know the picture was taken, the one taking the photo got there at least 5 seconds before the first flash went off.

That's why it doesn't make any sense to me.

This is not a good band photo. You look devastatingly boring. If you were at least DOING something or wearing interesting clothes it would be better. That effect was probably the best thing that could happen to that photo. God likes you.

so noone can offer an explanation? :(

I think>>56249already explained it. The camera took a shot with flash and then left the shutter open for a while to properly expose the dark background; you saw the flash and thinking that the photo is already taken, moved out of the picture.

but we didn't, it happened every time we tried it in that spot. that's what doesn't make sense.

look, you can call it whatever you want, I just wanted an explanation. now lets ASSUME I'm telling the complete truth for the moment, that we just took a straight photo, didn't move, nothing. can anyone give me an explanation for that?

i wanted to post the original, but I had to resize it. if there are any pixels, its because of the crap camera quality.

you can not believe me, think it's a shop, i dont care, i have nothing to gain from showing you anonymous people this pic - i just wanted to know why it happened.

ftr, i dont believe in ghosts, and am not trying to pass this off as anything like that, just looking for a logical explanation. I'll go down to the forrest and take some more tonight, see if I can recreate it.

basically what some night modes on digital cameras do (yours probably) ..
is they flash.. and then they leave the shutter open for a bit longer to get a clear background.

obviously you guys moved soon after the flash went off.

Set the aperture (APO?) up higher.
