Sup /p/

Im shooting an engagement party tomorrow, but basically this is my first "official" job. Im planning on bringing my d80, 17-50mm f/2.8 and my sb-600. Any tips that you could give me? The setting will be outdoors and the couple is a pretty close family friend, so i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be awkward.

doesnt sound to complicated. bring a flash just in case or for filler.

And also, I don't have a diffuser for my flash, am i screwed?

turn your flash always up, with a +3 power, it works.

another thing, don´t take over 9000 photos. take only what is.

good luck anon!

why not take a bunch of pictures?
unless your using your flash for every shot

I've got 2 sets of batteries where I get at least 250-300 shots from each set. So that would be around 500+ flashes, and the battery life of the d80 is just rated for 600-800, so i think that's enough if I feel like blinding people.

Point the flash vertically and then tape a white card behind as a ghetto bounce card.

exactly, watch your flash anon, it gets annoying after 300 shots.

>>>blinding people again, exactly.

listen to this man.

OR

if the ceiling is white, go with the "natural bouncer" aim your flash up and power it up.

why not over 9000 shots? well, two things:

1.- are you gonna to charge $$ for this?

2.- post processing. Its a pain in the ass. really. (NOTE: if you shoot in raw, if not, well... take two of every "important" picture)

with digital money really shouldnt be relavent to the amount of pictures hes taking.
he wont be putting every picture into photoshop or whatever.
i do agree that he shouldnt be taking pictures every 3 seconds but if something interesting does happen id be taking as many pictures of it as i want.

He's gonna be outdoors.

By the way, OP, by "official" do you mean you're getting money with this?

I think the ones I use were package dividers earlier in their lives. Any kind of stiff paper will do. Mine were just about as wide as the flash head to start, so I didn't do any cutting, but I suppose the SB-600 is powerful enough to use a much bigger shape like this guy's foam one:
