You are better asking in /b/ as that is where it is used normally for tricks and trolling. There are at least a couple of ways of doing it. Go ask there as that is where it is best known.
you know as well as i do /b/ is worthless for real advice
>>99000/b/ IS WORTHLESS GET.
you mean an animated gif?
>>99004no that's what's crazy i'm 99% sure it was a jpeg but it could have been a png. it wasnt a gif though.
the way 4chan scans a file for its thumbnail is different to windows as such you can use gamma trickery to hide images (more sucessfully now too the older ones were a bit dubious).
>>99006this went way beyond gamma tinkering, this wlike he changed the actual thumbnail data to a completely different picture (which i'm pretty sure he did and i want to know how)
>>99012both images were crystal clear in the pic i'm talking about
>>99013WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE IT THEN, FAGGOT!?I know what you're talking about. Ask /b/. Seriously.

>>99015your test failed
>>99015Damn. It worked in Windows Explorer. Must be something else then.
>>990174chan compiles its thumbnail from resizing the image I believe. Therefore you need to find what pixels it shrinks down to for the thumbnail (Make a checkerboard style grid with blocks of one pic and blocks of another until you find out exactly which ones it calculates.
>>99018its not that. i'm pretty sure it has to do with the actual data of the file. is there some way to edit the way the computer reads the thumbnail? /b/ doesnt just resize it theres something more sinister going on
this used to work i duno if it still does, even so it should show you what the rezing is about.
nobody figured it out eh? :(
>>99022How do you make this one??
Like so?Camera-Specific Properties:Camera SoftwareAdobe Photoshop 7.0Image-Specific Properties:Image OrientationTop, Left-HandHorizontal Resolution28 dpcmVertical Resolution28 dpcmImage Created2006:07:28 01:02:23Color Space InformationUncalibratedImage Width750Image Height600
>>99113Damnit, well, when you save this, the thumbnail is totally different. Different thing to resizing, not sure if it's what you mean.
>>99007Thubmnail data is always separate from the image it self. It has to have been some of these gimmicks already proposed on this thread.I bet my money on gif like this.
>>99114yeah thats what i was getting at>>99115could have been it i guess. could have sworn it was a different filetype though :( everyone in the thread was wtfing
>>99022How do you do that?
I do it by fucking magic if you cant figure it out after that fuck off.
>>99141i understand how it works, but that would be a lot of work, so i was wondering if theres any software that does it
>>99149No, she does the pixel are by hand. One click at a time for each pixel.
>>99156Are making these pictures and putting the time into them really worth it then?I mean its stupid imho
>>99196Sure. It's pretty funny and if you've got a couple of hours to spare you can play a good trick. That one from Butterfly was good, no? It's only costing a few hours of time and it is good practice for your pixel art.
>>99199photoshop skills would make it take about 5 minutes to set up, then 2 seconds for everytime after that.
