inb4 I'm a lomofag.

FUCKING RAAAAAGE

I'm getting sick of unoriginal shit winning awards on LSI and jpgmag. The theme was long exposure, and was of course, dominated by light writers. The entried were also deemed "innovative" and "head spinning"

Is there any originality left in photography?

Don't be so butthurt, some of these are fucking awesome and the highlighted text has a point. There's nothing original about HDR, long exposures/light trails/zooming, shallow DOF, bouncing flashes, and rear curtain flash on a long exposure. These are just techniques. This photo with the roman candle being moved is original. The light writing of words like "Love" or "Fire" isn't.

What is quality without originality tho!?
And I was going to say that I liked the runners up
more than the winners, but forgot in my rage.

I agree that the winning photos are shit but you're missing the point. The techniques don't have to be original but the photos do but I see that none of the winning photos look original though. Light drawing randomly, a heart, and wings. Sheesh. But the other nice runner up photos used the same technique anyway but produced more content.

It's like painting and using your fingers to smudge the paint. It's not an original technique but you can use it to create an original painting.

why be angry that someones not being original if they arent claiming to be original.
its hard to come up with new ideas when your talking about an art form thats been around for years

That isn't original, and it looks like shit.

Originality isn't about technique, it's about HOW you use the technique. Stop being so butthurt over losing and go do some real photography, lomofag.

A lomofag complaining about unoriginal photography? The irony.
