I'm a technical photographer Anonymous
Hi /p/, this is more of a rant and I wanted to know if others were this way too.

I'll try to keep it short so it's not like reading a novel.

I'm a technical photographer. I can't think of a better word for it other than photographer with no creativity.

I enjoy taking photos, maybe I even love taking photos. But after so many years, I still don't have the eye for it. I can't see composition, I don't see the angles, I can't think of a frame. I can't think outside the frame basically.

However, I'm not inept. Give me a subject: a model, an object, anything then I see something and can get to work. Give me something to focus on, no pun intended, and everything comes to me.

So to those who can see things I don't, I salute you and maybe I'll see it your way one day.

Why no, for the most part, we're...creative, yeah that's it! That's the ticket! In fact, we earn our, um, make lot's... er, are very rich! Yeah, yeah that's the ticket! We're rich because of our creativity and vast array of photographic artistry and expertise!

That's exactly what most people are. Lots of people take an interest in photography, and some of them put in enough time and effort to become masters of the technical craft. Very few ever have the vision and creativity to go along with it.

I believe that you can only learn the vision side of photography to a certain extent. If it's not there to start with, it never will be. Anyone, with a some effort, can master the technical side of photography. You can often tell by people's early work whether or not they can ever be more than a technically adept photographer.

I left out one thought.

There's nothing wrong with being a technical photographer. We take pictures because we enjoy it, and if you're enjoying it than that's all you need.
