There's lots I don't like about both of these shots, however its the only real stuff I've shot lately. So here it is anyway.

I really like this. Makes me want to go out with my R72 tomorrow to see if I can find somewhere that still has leaves.

So...

How about that other shot?

last one

I took quite a few more, but the DR was hurt by the slight overcast, and the lighting was a bit flat.

The first one is pretty cool

nice shot, but why do you feel you need IR to make it interesting?

Actually its because of the nasty haze overcast. with regular light the picture would have been totally blown out, and there would be little contrast in the trees / foreground.

IR instead captures more contrast in the foreground and ignores much of the scattered light in the air, So the clouds also have more definition / aren't as blown.

IR is great for days when taking pictures otherwise would be a waste of time, As long as you have a bit of layering of clouds, even overcast days can still have an interesting sky, and the light that makes it to the ground isn't as flat looking as in visible light.

Please tell me about this or refer me to where I could read a little bit on the matter. Other than the time of the day being noon, what makes a day a waste of time to shoot in?

overcast skies actually provide beautiful soft light for pictures of people

Yup, these mountains sure look like people.

Forgot to mention that, but I understand. Vincent's picture doesn't seem to be overcast though, which makes me wonder what he meant by that.

>>303781
I agree.

I guess I forgot to point out that my question was about landscape photography, mainly, considering Vincent's pic. I haven't had a chance so far to take my DSLR out to the mountains for some nature shots, but I'm looking forward to doing so these winter vacations.

howd you shoot these?

What? It was an overcast day? Bricks have been shat.

The first is good shot, the second not so much. The second is relying too much on the IR effect to be interesting while the first's composition and subject are what is interesting which is then enhanced by the IR effect.

What has been keeping you from shooting?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
University, and a 25 page essay :(

yes it was overcast, and by "waste of a day" shooting, i mean days when taking landscapes are a waste of time.

I hope to get to Revelstoke national park over winter break. Skiing or just for pics.

I like both. Nice work.
