Did anyone take long exposure pictures of any fireworks this year? i think it would be pretty nifty, or is it an idea thats been done a billion times?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Yes, it is pretty nifty.

But yes, it is an idea that's been done a billion times, so it's hard to get an original one. One of my cameras, in fact, has a "Fireworks mode". Hard to get an original picture of something that's been done so often there's a setting for that specific picture on your camera.

I tried 30 second exposures and even though I had a ND filter on and they were somewhat properly exposed, they tended to come out as jumbled blobs. No definition and it turned out to be a sort of bouquet of flowers.

That Vancouver?

I am so confused as to how you people take long exposure pics without the image coming out waaay too bright. Like the OP, if that were my camera it would have just been a bright light with dark edges. Any tips?

(Forgot the example)
This is basically what happens what I try a shutter speed that is longer that a few seconds. everything is so bright.

you need to lower the f-stop
>> Anonymous
>>61638
I think f/8 and Iso 100 are recommended for fireworks.
>> Anonymous
>>61645
it should be f400, f/12-16, bulb or 2-3"

>>61646

f400?! Holy shit.

The size is large enough for the photons to barely squeeze through.

Nobody but you uses that notation, Anonymous. Everyone else on the planet would just say '400mm'

I was too close to the fireworks I went to see to take anything longer than 2-3 seconds.

I really hate all of you. It was raining where I live on the fourth :(
