Incorrect diapoter setting + manual focus = fail AnonyBob !!bHK6FUTAyi2
This shot almost breaks my heart. I did not realize how out of focus it was until I got home and loaded it into my computer.

Over the last few months I have taken over 1000 pictures, mostly shooting AEB and manual mode to work on creative exposures (so I thought).

Now I want to go back to the zoo and get some better exposures with my Daughter before summer vacation is over.

I think that I am going back to auto focus for a while; and possibly staying away from Manual mode while out and about taking shots with my Daughter

Using the focus confirmation while on manual helps too.

Manual focus on a sunny day? F2.8? 1/1250th shutter speed?!

What is going on here?

i really hate that about entry level digitalslrs. if im shooting something that cant be reshot i just do auto focus. if im out doing flowers or panos or something where i have time to zoom in on the lcd screen or use the zoom tool in live view to focus i use manual focus but its just to hit or miss to trust myself with something i cant redo.
makes me sad, because my only film camera does have a working meter or doesnt have a working battery and god knows i dont know what kind it needs.

What's so hard about it? I use manual focus on my Powershot A520. I'm a wizard at it.

Lol, film cameras don't need batteries. They're film, not digital.

The power shot a520 has a huge ass screen and it might even zoom in when your manually focusing or some shit idk. The rebels have tiny viewfinders that are like looking at a fuzzy tube tv through a tunnel.

I appreciate both the "learn by doing" comment and the point that you don't want to miss opportunities. So do both!

Grab your snapshot on Auto mode first, then switch to manual settings and try for something more artistic -- it's not a huge effort to do so. It will give you the opportunity to do side-by-side comparisons of the finished product and the EXIF data is automatically captured.

Speaking of EXIF data, you might consider removing your name from the camera settings before posting pics to public forums.

i didnt mean auto exposure mode just auto zoom
im fine with missing a picture because i failed to do what something i can easily do ( shutter speed iso...) but when a picture that i thought was PERFECTLY focused comes out unfocused it pisses me off.

I don't think you meant auto zoom either.
