* Try to find a way to get a slightly higher vantage point so that the sign says 'DINER' rather than 'DINFD'.
* Presumably you were using a tripod for this (if not, use a tripod for this), so dropping down to ISO100 would have improved the image quality a bit

Overall, this picture is win. Those two criticisms are minor nitpicks at best. Go take more.

thanks for the tips. i am short and no i was not using a tripod, just out walking around taking pictures and thought the neon lights would make for some pretty cool lighting. i de-noised a version using neat image, it looks better but came out a bit more saturated

Good photo and composition but if you plan on taking alot of low light and night photography seriously invest in a tripod or a faster lens.

looks much better after the edit, but i agree that you should try to get a higher vantage point and use a tripod with a lower iso...you'll get much better results

I just bought the 50mm f/1.8 canon. So I'm planning on retaking this pic with that lens and lowering the ISO this weekend. I'll be back with the results. Thanks for all the compliments and tips!

Go grab a cheap tripod. Even like a little crappy $20 one. It'll help more than the fast lens will in this particular situation.

Also, you might want to try taking the picture at dusk rather than at night, so you still get the good light from the diner and the neon but there's also some ambient. Might look awesome. Or it might just look boring and lame, but you'll never know until you try it.

if you can't tell whether your own photos are good or not just sell your camera now.

nigger, get a tripod and set your ISO to 100 or so and try again. you have something good going here.
