using stob bath for film gives you better controlled dev times and less base fog. for short dev times (5mins and the likes), stop is recommended for sure. otherwise its less needed, but you can use stop bath so your fix lives longer.

Try stopping with glacial acetic acid, just so you can tell us later later what happened. Normal acetic acid stop bath is about 1% dilution, glacial is approaching 100%.

I stop with water, since supposedly stopping with acid is the wrong thing when using Rodinal, which is my main developer. For 10-15 minute developments, I subtract 30 seconds from the development time, and stop with distilled water for one minute, agitating continuously.
