What's so special about june 22?

It'll be announced sometime during the summer, at Photokina at the very latest.

Is that the sound of weeping I hear coming from DPR?

Not sure if this is a stupid question. D80 upgrade, what are we expecting here?

Live view, fps upgrade, better noise reduction, 18-135 vr (I kinda expected it with the D300 :/ ), the usual.

wtf dude?
How is live view and fps upgrade unreasonable? With the D300 and D3's NR as good as it is, I'd expect that to filter down into the D80 upgrade. And everyone's kit lens has IS or VR now, with the 18-135 being the prosumer kit lens, I thought we'd see the VR version with the D300. I can't see the new D80 NOT having live view, it won't compete with the XSi without it. (I can't count how many times I've been asked by friends why the LCD is broken on my D40.)
>> BurtGummer
>>128971

fair enough then. Are we talking a whole new camera then? No chance of a big firmware update?

I want to kill whenever someone holds the camera up to look at the LCD, and when I tell them you can't do that, you have to look through the viewfinder, they sigh in disgust, or have some stupid ass look on their face.

FUCK

New camera and a price jump (900$+). Nikon is really trying to push the AF-S lenses. By widening the gap between the D60 and D90(?) it makes people rethink upgrading bodies and instead buying new AF-S lenses. http://www.bythom.com/ has Nikon fiscal estimates, big year for them. Q1 09 might see some new stuff maybe? But what do I know, I'm an armchair /k/ommando.

D90:
900$
Live view
Better NR hopefully.

I think we'll see new accessories first, new pro body = new pro flash? 18-135 vr, and, god willing, af-s primes.

nikon sucks lol

pentax

AN 18-135mm VR would be great, even for My "old" D80.
>> Anonymous
OP here, i'll delay buying the d80 to hit the d90 if it comes by early may. Nikon didn't continue their 18month-upgrade pattern, how disappointing.

>>128831

summer? you mean in which months?
>> Anonymous
>>128993

VR, better glass and without the crapload of distortion.
>> Anonymous
>>128995
Considering it was about ten months between the release of the D200 and D80, it'll likely be about that same amount of time for the D90. Because there was an unusually long gap between the announcement and release of the D300, that could put the D90 announcement anywhere from May to August.

pentax = noise

still better than nikon

Because slightly more noise is really going to make or break your shitty, generic pictures?
