Does anybody else shoot sports, or is everyone just taking shots of sunsets and macro pictures of their cats and flowers?

Fast lenses are for sports.
I would if my f/5.6 telephoto focussed faster.

I shoot with a 70-200 f/2.8 VR on my D80, the lens kicks ass but the camera is too slow.

What's a good film for sports? This shot was taken with my 70-200 f/2.8 VR on a Nikon F5, used SHITTY Kodak MAX 800 film. 1/400 at f/2.8 I believe.

professional print film. grocery store film (like Kodak MAX or Royal Gold or anything like it) generally isn't too great.

fuji superia is a notable exception. shit's awesome.

I'll probably look for a deal on some good film in bulk, I've not had my F5 long so I'll keep experimenting with film.

In the meantime, all my shots for publication (I shoot for a newspaper) are coming from my D80. Will be getting a D300 soon, yay!

there aren't many choices these days.

kodak's only pro negative film is portra, and the fastest speed is 800. expensive as shit, too ($.18 a frame)

fuji has more options, including a superia 1600. they also have two pro 800 films.

http://www.adorama.com/FJCZ36PP.html dirt cheap, too. ($.09 a frame or so)

http://www.adorama.com/FJP800Z36U5.html is aimed less towards newspaper work and more towards portraits and general photography. it's more expensive (0.15 a frame)

they should make lacrosse on ice. that'd be sweet

that fuji press 800 film looks good, I'll give that a shot.

Lacrosse season is over so I don't get to shoot the teams that pay me, hockey season is coming up though so I've got some downtime until things get rolling again.

I do Fastball and Motocross consistently, Karate and other sports I often shoot intermittently, I would post but 4chan won't let me..

Press 800 is great, press 1600 isn't horrible but doesn't take underexposure well at all, ime
