I'm just getting into photography and I was wondering if I could get a few tips.

I'm mostly wonding what sort of software you all use to touch up photos after dumping them onto the PC.

Pic unrelated, just a cool picture I found on 4chan.

(Not OP) Are you satisfied with Capture NX yeah? I'm looking for some RAW editing software as well, don't want Adobe stuff and got a trial version with my camera, but didn't want to install it yet if it sucked anyway...

Dont use any bundle software, like>>254033

The fact he dosn't see a problem with lack of layers or clone tool show he has no clue what his doing.

For importing into right from cam you want to get your self lightroom (PC) or Aperture (Mac). Then get a copy of Photoshop CS3.

Lightroom/Aperture is where you import your files and keep them organized. They also allow you to do quite allot of editing to the photos in terms of exposure and color balance and what not.

Photoshop is where you do all the real work, clone out annoying elements, remove spots, smooth skin, you get the idea

OP here.

That sounds like what I'd want to be doing, I'll give them a shot!

Bridge + Photoshop is fine too.
Bridge gets installed with Photoshop.

If you are going to spend money on software I wouldn't get Lightroom just yet... Bridge does the job of importing and organizing fine.
