what's the differencebetween c41 process films and others?

i need a roll of ilford hp5 developed fast but apparently it takes days/weeks.

what can i do /p/?

Put simply, different chemicals are required. The process doesn't actually take longer but your local lab doesn't have black and white chemicals, so it needs to mail out your HP5 to a better lab. Hence the delay.

You need to find a better local lab or quickly find darkroom equipment and learn how to develop on your own.

C-41 is a color-negative development process. HP5 is a traditional black-and-white film; it's simple to develop yourself, but may not be worth it if you're only doing one roll.
There are black and white films out there that can be developed in C-41 chemistry. Try Ilford's XP2 Super for a starter.
