I would think stock photography is pretty much the same as... general photography. Find out what people want to see and give it to them.

i had to look up stock photography on wiki.

seems like the only difference is the method of distribution of the work. take photos that have wide applications and that many people would use for many purposes.

iStockPhoto's "Photos we don't need" is something that should be read by anyone aspiring to be a stock photographer, and also everyone on /p/.

after careful review, i would like to motion to extend your recommendation to include legally requiring that iStockPhotos' "photos we don't need" section be printed out and included with all new digital cameras and cameraphones.
