Hey guys,
I have a Canon AE-1 program.
My question is: If I opened the back cover of my cam, while it still had film in it, are ALL my photos exposed, or just the current exp.?

Does anyone have any expreience developing film that's been partially exposed? Did it turn out ok?

Thanks

Only the portion of the film that is outside of the cannister is exposed....or most of it. So, if it's the first shot of the roll, no big deal, but if it's the last one...possible big deal.

some (but very few) cameras wind the film all the way out FIRST, taking it back in as its used. This saves any pictures you've allready taken, but is seems to be unpopular with camera manufacturers since you could ruin a whole new roll of film by thinking it wasnt loaded right and opening it to try again.

I used to have a very similar camera for years and occasionally I've done the same thing. If you only opened the door briefly (I mean for a second or two) then some of the exposed prints might at least have some useable parts (you may have to do some cropping and major photoshop work to correct bits, but depending on the pics, it may be worth it.

Be aware, however, that every bit of film that has already been used will be affected somewhat. How affected depends on how long it was exposed, how bright it was when it was exposed, etc.

No way to know for sure until you get the film developed. Good luck, I hope your pics are ok.
