Also the image is green, and I doubt you had green lighting.

o_O i never noticed it was green until u mentioned it. how do i fix this? i mean, fix it when shooting.

change your white balance to flourescent, or use the gleaming white toes of your chucks as a white card (custom white balance)

I use a d40 too. I like auto for outdoor lighting, but for either incandescent or flourescent lightbulbs I prefer to use the specific settings, they get it a lot more accurate.
If it's dark, feel free to up the iso to 400, it's really only 800 where the noise starts getting noticeable.

i have that same rug in my kitchen
>> Anonymous
>>77598

you stole his rug? :P
>> Anonymous
>>77568
yea, im finding its much better to shoot at ISO 400(even outdoors in the day) most of the time since my lens is quite slow - i was getting lots of motion blur all the time.

>>77403
this shot that i took was only possible cuz i was lying on the floor - no shaky-ness for 1sec exposure

>i have that same rug in my kitchen
but i bet u dont have shoes as cool as me :P

so does this graph mean its underexposed?

at what point is exposure acceptable, and not underexposed/overexposed? or is it really up to personal opinon like ac sed?

i was actually trying to get that subdued, stylised look that are prominent in magazine ads. especially the ones with cars.

Preferably the hills should be approximately centered. As you can see it's skewed towards the left, hence darker. If it's shifted off-center to the right, it's overexposed. That's proper exposure in a technical sense. What really matters is the end result. In some cases, underexposure/overexposure makes for interesting lighting effects. In this case, it's dark, but that doesn't really do anything for the photo, so it stands to reason that a brighter exposure might be preferable, for the sake of better bringing out the colors.

THATS MY RUG U MUTHAFUCKA

This is what I do.

1. Light meter at the brightest thing in the view finder
2. Open up two stops
3. Enjoy your horribly exposed shot.
