First off, allow me to clear this up: THIS IS NOT TROLLING. I am a photography idiot and I know _NOTHING_ about photography.

As you can see in the picture I added I took a picture of my eyes with contacts (this is the reason they look pixelated).
Here is another attempt at a picture of my eyes: http://arch.kimag.es/share/16024125.jpg

I want to take a photograph like this one:
http://orz.4chan.org/hr/src/1213496309997.jpg

But I really don't know anything about photography.
I have a Canon camera and since I will probably be told off as a troll could I just get pointed in the right direction? I have Photoshop too for fixing up the picture, but I don't know the "basics" about photography.

PS: The camera says Canon Rebel EOS and it's my dad's, NOT MINE.

lol WTF.. the contact lens is NOT whats causing that pixellation
>> Anonymous
tell me, what does it say on the lens? What kind of name is it? It should have focal length in mm and max aperture usually written as something like f/2.8

If I take them in my hands and look at them they do look pixelated. The contacts themselves aren't smooth, they look like lots of squares/pixels. This is visible in the picture.

It says all of this:
Canon Zoom Lense
EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 II

Canon Ink
The angle symbol and: 58mm

I called my father, since I am at "work".

It's called macro photography and you need an expensive lens to do it well.

Is there no similar way with the lens I have now?

It says Lense?
That's basically the shitty kit lens - it's a great focal length, but shit quality, no USM or IS, and plastic.
Macro photography like of your eye needs a lens more like the EF-S 60mm Macro f/2.8 USM, which runs about £230 in the UK, or about half as much as the camera.

Also, that's not an angle symbol (that would be theta), it's a phi and it indicates the filter diameter.

you can turn the lens you have now around and take a pic, it wil allow you to take macro shots, gonna be hard and prolly gonna be shit, but fun and worth a shot.

you are vain for your colored fucking contacts

Indeed, color contacts are fucking lame. Don't people see just how -fake- they look? Even op said it "thats why they look pixelated". They're so fucking bad quality they just speak for themselves.
