Newfag here, how would you get a photo to look similar to this?

1) take crap photo
2) shoop it to hell and back
3) publish it at deviantart

I look at OP's pic, and it is screaming to me to be chopped into a longcat.

What's wrong with the photo it looks great to me. How would anon have done it differently?

Other than that the composition is made of total fail and theres nothing that actually catches the eye? Its just a piece of shit thats shooped to 'look cool'.

Looks like Denmark. In which case the windmills are what are meant to catch your eye. Except they're designed to be as discreet looking as possible.

I see nothing wrong with the composition other than slightly tilted horizon. Otherwise it looks good to me. Maybe a little overboard on the shooping though...
>> Anonymous
tilted horizon framing is off. rule of thirds is completely disregarded.

Idunno, looks good to me. It was the only pic I bothered to click on when I was skimming through these pages. It's obvious there is some post work (maybe a bit too much), but I have to wonder, would the image be more compelling without it? I somehow don't think so.

I have to disagree. The compo looks good to me. Things that caught my eye: how clean the image looks, almost like a 3d render, that amazing skyscape, the reflections in the puddle, the vast feeling of open-ness.

What's with this "rule of thirds", people? There's alway some party pooper judging photos as junk if they don't follow this rule. Here's news for you: it's only one possible composition type. There exist brilliant photos which don't follow the rule. (This one just isn't one of them).
