I think the red on the middle right is from changing film in the sunlight?

thanks

I am looking to learn more. I just got a good deal on an old minolta kit and started playing around. I learn from my pictures that don't come out right, and by using film I put more effort into my shots compared to when I used my digital point and shoot.

These are nice. I hope you dont mind me asking, what film type were you using? I like the color.

At first I was standing there framing my shot and this European dude got in the way and at first I thinking "damn I wish he'd get out of my shot" then I looked again through the lense and thought... no the dude standing there totally makes the shot, so I took it without him knowing.

you will laugh but-- for the 1st and 2nd shot I used Kroger brand (Quality Guaranteed) 200 speed film that expired Sept 2007

This picture was shot using not-expired Kodak 800 speed film for comparison. (this shot and the 2nd were taken minutes apart)

Interesting. Nothing wrong with trying out / using cheap brands hehe. From the looks of those two pictures, the Kroger one seems much more contrasty. That's kinda nice. Actually, it might even be some rebranded chinese film (goes by the name "Lucky" around here).

1. Resize before posting on /p/
2. Crop the edges out, unless it was intentionally left in (see point 3).
3. Experimentation is good and I like the "it's 40 years old" look you've got from that cheap expired film. If its an effect you like then by all means keep doing it. Your kodak 800 ISO shots have way less grain.
4. Composition and stuff seems ok.

yeah its best to assume the first 2 or 3 frames are useless and just waste them.
