alright, /p/, this question probably gets asked a lot but:
i need to know what is the best kind of digital slr to buy.
i have a canon powershot SD950 IS and it's good for point-and-shoot and the color accent is awesome, but, i want something more professional, with lenses.

help?
pic unrelated, it's just one of my favorites with the color accent.

Christ I can't believe someone has the same camera as me. Our camera is awesome, why change? lol Seriously, I got a 400D a few months ago and I thought an slr wasn't worth all the effort they are to lug around. But if you gotta get one, 400Ds are probably the cheapest decent slr in my opinion.
Pic related as it's similar to yours and taken with the same camera lol

It seems that SD950 only registers different shades of cyan and gray. I wouldn't consider that an `awesome color accent'.

there's no real budget, my birthday is coming up, lol.

what i'm really looking for is something that will take good action shots, such as sports stills, etc.
i go to a lot of sporting events and all my pictures end up being blurry and terrible.

Protip: Color accenting with a p&s always looks like shit.

Also, whatever beginner DSLR you want. Brand doesn't matter that much, all beginner DSLRs are the same anyway.

Personally, I'm a Nikonfag, so I'd get a D80.
You'd get off just as well with a 400d/450d.
I'd also recommend a 50mm f/1.8 prime, like the rest of /p/ would.

sage for color accent.
