I'd say it's a good deal of win.

I don't understand why it's getting saged...

Because it's boring, dark, flat, the subject is hard to see, the colors that you can see are oversaturated, there is nothing to lead the eye, and it really doesn't have any redeeming qualities at all.

>>122944no blur in pitch black = some win at least

No, not really. It's kind of a side effect of flash. The duration of the flash is extremely short (usually between 1/500,000 and 1/100,000 seconds) so if there isn't enough ambient light to expose the frame in the shutter speed set then the flash effectively freezes any motion when it fires. It's actually easier to get blur-free photos in pitch black than in medium to low light.

It needs to be contrasty, and even then the subject is pretty boring. Find a better angle and learn how to improve your skills using the flash.

I also has enough of failness.
Basicly, it's a great idea, but how it was made, wasn't that great. For one, there's the jumper's shadow on the background. Two, I can't really tell from where (s)he jumped. Three, the trick isn't that great (looking). Four, I think it's too underexposured. More flash!

Some totally different angle would be great. Like from the top of that building there, looking down the jumper.

Or, much tighter crop, with couple extra flashes, so (s)he could be separated from the background, and at the same time being in some great position. (Can't really describe the image I have in my head.)

I don't see how it's a great idea. It's a snowboarder jumping over something, it's hardly anything new or interesting. He's not even jumping over anything big or impressive, nor is there anything unique about the way this shot was approached. The only thing that could make it more cliched is if it were shot with a fisheye lens.

lotsa hate in here. Thats kind of what I was expecting though. Second time using multiple flashes. Still learning. as for burly tricks... gotta work with what you can find right?

how the fuck is the subject hard to see? He's wearing a green jacket and is almost in the centre of the shot.

He is too dark, pretty much all you can see is the green jacket. The board, pants, hat, and gloves all just blur together with the shadows and dark colors in the background.
