OP, what lens...very sharp ^__^
>> Anonymous
Lens is Tamron 90mm 1:1 taken at f11 for moar DOF.

i was going to make a macro thread untill i saw the other shitty one. moar to come
>> Anonymous
I don't like the composition. The lighting and color balance is unpleasant. The insect looks dead and badly positioned and the shallow DOF doesn't add anything to it.
>> Anonymous
>>286263

insect is dead.

no white light available, just got my shitty lamp about an inch away from it, it happens to come out a quite gross yellow colour- the background is actually white. trying something else now

W-W-WHITE BALANCE.
>> Anonymous
OP here, have fixed some of the stuff. will have a few more snaps and upload soon
>> Anonymous
>>286265

If there is a problem then you fix it beforehand. Don't make excuses afterwards. That's just lazy. Laziness causes bad shots like this. Dead insects can be posed and positioned anyway. You should find more interesting subjects than something dead on the windowsill. BORKEHBORKEHBORKEH or simply 1:1 macros are not enough to make a shot work. The same "rules" or requirements in other areas of photography, such as composition or lighting are still important.

If the composition is bad then you or the subject must be moved. If the light is bad then you fix it while you are setting up the shot. If the white balance is wrong and you've got a DSLR then shoot RAW and fix it in a couple of minutes. I'd suggest making a little tent or some such for your subjects.

Macro shots aren't easy mode for photography. You've picked some great tools for it, now get to it. ;)

OP, your shots fucking suck but what did you really expect when you found it and simply wanted to try some macro

Ugh you make me go into Photoshop to resize. Flickr grabs are so much easier.

Lens data will appear wrong because I'm lazy with setting my manual lens data. Actual lens was a reversed 50mm f/1.8 with a PK-13 27.5mm extension tube. Don't ask me what the aperture was, probably something like f/5.6 or f/8.

Sigma something or other........ 'sigma paperweight' possibly.
It came free with the camera when I bought it second hand. After a week it was gone only for me to replace it at the long end with an almost equally bollocks and soft as hell Tamron 200-400. The only thing I miss is its (admitedly shit) macro.

This shot also taken with the paperweight

Grain or noise doesn't come from a lens.
>> Nature Boy
>>286875

no the noise came from post, trying to sharpen the damn shot up a bit. I freely admit to being a photoshop amateur, this shot was so soft to begin with.
Probably should have posted something else but this was the first shot I found lying around
