>> Anonymous
>>242851

Some people in /p/ are professional, some are willing amateurs. pskaught, is a salesman. He pushes the same old style without update or restyling. Day in, day out.

He also brags about his own pseudo talent, and puts down those who (though not necessarily less talented) do not not understand his single technique.

I am not jealous of Pskaught, or his style, as i have experimented more with Angles, light and photoshop more than he ever will bother doing.
>> Anonymous
>>242858
1) How do you know he doesn't experiment, and just not show off the results?

2) Why did he need to change around his style? As far as I know, Ernest Hemingway never woke up one morning and decided, "hmm, I'm going to write my next story like James Fenimore Cooper." Cartier-Bresson never went, "hmm, I'm going to buy myself a roll of Velvia and the 21 Elmarit, fuck this 50mm bullshit and FP4."

If it works for him, why change it?
>> Anonymous
itt jealousrage
>> Anonymous
>>242861

Because bragging about something that has been repeated ad nauseum without any attempt to progress is asinine?

The greatest artists evolved. Mondrian, Van gogh, pollock.. even photographers.. man ray, brassai, gilbert and george. Pskaught just sticks to the exact same thing.
>> Anonymous
>>242869
Yeah, they evolved over their whole lifetime in response to not just experimental whimsy. Cartier-Bresson's focus got much more social, more documentary, and less sensual and light after World War II, during which he spent time in a concentration camp and on the run from the Nazis. His style evolved, because he did. As far as I know, during the last year pskaught has not been imprisoned, starved, beaten, or pursued by the Gestapo.

/P/ per se has seen pskaught's work over less than a year. If you look at some of his other stuff, older stuff, you *can* see evolution. If you look at stuff unrelated to "Imps" (his series on prostitutes, for instance) you *can* see other styles. He's keeping it consistent for this project.

Pollock helped to invigorate the American art world by renewing his style on no less than three phased occasions, his drip art being the most influencial.

His abstract impressionist pieces (along with his latter and earlier experimental work with figures) still inspire art students today.

>>243526
You haven't missed anything at all. The last decently funny meme was the sparta and machine code shop fests.

After the burst of funny when the DESU finally died, /b/ has just been getting worse and worse. /b/ started dying during the gaia online raids. For those of you interested in some 4chan history, if you look at Alexia you can see a sharp increase in hits that predates the first Habbo Hotel raid. The gaia raids caused that.

The popularization of Caturday, aka Lolcats, which fails to properly understand the early finesse of Admiral Cat and Future Dog threads coupled with scientology raids is what finished off /b/
>> beethy !vW/UaE6zYU
>>243530
it might get better eventually though since 4chan traffic is decreasing dramatically.

Both means to an end. To me, somebody who is a master of their craft is somebody who can create something just the way they envisioned it. I, for example, can almost always see something wrong with my photos, even when I'm overall very happy with them.

You may feel that this style is worthless and unartistic, but at least it is a style. This view of things seems to be flawless at least in a technical sense, and has at least some artistic merit, despite what anybody may think.

I don't know if this is the kind of thing I'd ever aim for, but damn if I don't wish I had the mad skillz to do it if I wanted to.

This might be the biggest shit storm I've caused so far. There have been a lot of stupid comments by kids who hold dear the idea that they are shooting some really artistic shit. And this whole "photography is holy" thing is really laughable, its a fucking career guys. I'm sure the "photography art" market seriously pales in comparison to advertising or anything lacking these "aesthetics" everyone seems to talk about. I cannot stand "serious artists" or "serious students", their morals make me cringe.

all I know is that I created this post and the people who dig the work, and knew my work before know where I'm at now and enraged everyone else who doesn't get any attention. Thanks for the hits you slobs! HA! Later bitches!

I'll stop back in right before the calendar is done to create more drama.

so much drama...

pskaught has a certain style that evokes an emotion in people - that sounds like one definition of "art" to me. whether or not it's "good art" is something each person has to decide and everyone will think something different.

personally i like seeing his photos because there's a lot of work put into them and they are well done both technically and artistically. i think they're interesting to look at due to both the unusual lighting and the people, there's so many little details to look at.

sure you could call the style a gimmick or formulaic, but as stated earlier, a lot of photographers have a recognized style too. do artists create art to please other people and then fall into a "style" continuing to use the same formula because it worked before, or do they tend to create the same style of art because that's what they see as "good" in their opinion?

i hope he sticks around and posts more, or even just comments on other people's photos - i'd rather see more and varied photography on /p/ than gear threads, even if it is controversial, and more people commenting on photos (thanks for the effort ac)
