hoya vs B+W for UV Filters on 17-55 IS F2.8 NEW Anonymous
i'm debating bout whether to drop the extra 30 on the B+W UV MRC Filter or is the Hoya sufficient and I won't even notice the difference. What's everyone' consensus in regards to UV Filters?

Supermulticoated ones are good, Hoya is enough. Even their cheapest alternative is good, as long as youre using a hood and not pointing the lens towards the sun.
The loss of image quality is negligible to the point of being unnoticeable.

i heard that the hoya can't be cleaned and that the higher quality ones you can use water and a lens cloth

truth?
