Photographing in pairs? t00t
How safe is it generally to go out on a photo-op by yourself at a park or some other densly wooded or isolated place?

Do you guys go at them on your own or do you bring a partner, friend or fellow photographer?

Not sure about a wood.
It depends on the area tbh.

Bringing someone is always good to keep spirits up etc, but its to easy to get distracted and miss good shots if someones talking to you.

What kind of shady ass hellhole do you live in?

You're seriously questioning if it's safe to be alone in a park?

It's true. I once angered a friend who was using one...woke up 4 years later in a hospital somewhere outside of detroit.

At least here in Colorado you should walk with someone if you're out in the mountains. While mountain lion attacks are rare, they do happen. Even if you do not come across a mountain lion, other fauna can be rather dangerous, especially if you're sneaking up as close you can to it to get the shot you want.

Ignoring animals, you should still hike with someone else for safety. If you fall you want someone to be able to get help or help you. Also having a friend along can help you identify when there is something seriously wrong with in relations to the weather, like identifying hypothermia or heatstroke both of which can can on slowly and are often hard to self diagnose due the clouding of your mind that accompanies them.

In regards to weapons I usually carry a telescopic baton. Though I will be applying for my CCW this summer for a 1911 .45 as a telescopic baton won't do you much against an animal.

Neither will that .45, you clearly need a 9mm.

9mm? more like a .22

Eh, nice Benelli M4 Super 90 will take care of cougars. Too bad they're not quite legal where I live...

That, or pepper spray for bears. Seriously - at close range you've got a better chance of surviving using pepper spray on a Grizzly than a rifle, let alone a handgun.

If you life in America, you could get class 3 gun license, which, at least in Nebraska, is easy to get.

Also in regards to bear spray, I'm a bit of gun enthusiast >_>

As some of the other posters, I am a gun enthusiast, but I carry wherever I go, especially when carrying a couple thousand dollars in camera/electronic gear.

In the woods, I generally open carry a 1911 in .45 or .50 (yes, that's right, a .50. I reload too.)

In the city, I always carry a KelTec P32(.32ACP). In addition, I have either a KelTec P11(9mm), Glock 17 (9mm) or an XD40(.40S&W).

For the guy that suggested class 3 --- wtf? That's a bit overkill. I have a couple of class 3 weapons myself, but its never occured to me to take the MAC11 on a photo trip.

I am really fucking glad I live in a state where I don't have retards like you running around with dangerous weapons.

Gun control FTW.
>> Jesus !1EQ.kCAg9c

I'm not going to start an argument with you about it on /p/. If you feel like getting schooled, go to /k/ and let them show you their plethora of anti-gun control statistics.

I've run around downtown alone, i've also run around in a muddy stream with just me and a model. I've run into no problems at all.

If you aren't comfortable going somewhere alone, then bring someone. Most locations have an aura of their own and your gut will tell you yes or no.

Srsly, what the fuck? What are you guys defending yourself from? Manslaughtering bears and camera equipment stealing gangsters?
I guess I'm glad I live in a place where I never have to worry about that.

I wouldn't go take pictures in Atlanta at night by myself.
