Hey guys Anonymous
Is that some 90,000$ lens?
>> Anonymous
wow is that necessary?
>> Anonymous
More to the point, that gormless fuckwit is missing the mother of all upskirts 270° clockwise.
>> BlackAdder !!bSWRwu/NqzQ
It'd be awesome to see him use that with a silver body Rebel just to piss people off.

Is it a 1200mm prime or something?

It is when you're trying to shoot some celeb/billionaire on a Yacht miles away.

Damn papparazzo.
>> Anonymous
1200mm prime? Pfft, Nikon did that in a zoom.

>Throwing aside all inhibitions, we've added a 2x extender, which you can see between the back end of the lens and the EOS adapter. This doubles the effective focal length to a 35mm equivalent of 17280mm, yes, there are five digits in that number, which of course is utterly insane.

He is a genetically engineered photographer. Human dna was combined with that of a mule's to create this guy. Mules may be sterile, but science is amazing.

If we mugged that guy we could keep half of /p/ going on gear for quite a while.

He looks like the guy all the photographers chose to leave their gear with while they went for a drink. It's hard to imagine anyone rattling around with all that.

Oh GOD.

That picture is fucking hilarious. The kneepads, the 5 cameras and just the look of the guy.

He should be /p/'s new mascot.

>> Anonymous

1700 on 6x6, not 35mm. So it's not as long as it sounds.
>> Anonymous
>>96977
photographer should learn to be a man and take pics witnout tripod.
>> Anonymous
>>97124
Uhh it works the other way around, the larger the sensor the Longer the lens needed to get the same 35mm "equivalent"

since 6x6 = 56mm x 56mm
and 35mm = 24x36
Theres a 3.6x as large of a focal length needed.

Which would mean 6120mm on 35mm. Thats fucking impressive.
>> Anonymous
>>97124
>>97144

No. 1700mm is 1700mm, regardless of the format. Focal length is a physical property of a lens and has absolutely nothing to do with camera format. It may look different on 35mm than on 6x6, but it's still 1700mm.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
>>97144
Right, but it's for a 6x6 medium format camera, not a 35mm. So (assuming your math, which I'm too lazy to check, is right) it's a 472mm-equiv on the camera it was actually designed for, which isn't as impressive. Still impressive, especially for medium format, but lenses with that field of view are certainly not unheard of in the 35mm and APS-C world.

It's the equivalent of a 300mm lens on a digital SLR.
>> Anonymous
>>97147
i completley agree with you, but the whole digital '35mm equiveleant' thing fucked up peoples heads about thinking rationally.
>> Anonymous
6cm = 60mm. 60/35 = 1.7.
>> I||ICIT
what?

no, its a 1700MM lens designed for large format cameras meaning using it on a LF camera will gove you a 1700MM field of view.

now if you were to use it on a FF or crop camera its still a 1700MM lens just with a decreased FOV due to the crop factor going from LF to FF or crop format.
>> Anonymous
>>97155
its surface area, not one dimension
>> Anonymous
its a 1700mm lens, which gives different FoVs depending on the format. the FoV of 1700mm on medium format would be close to what 1000mm would look like on 35mm.
>> Anonymous
>>97157
no, its not.
>> Anonymous
>>97155

There is no dimension of 35mm film that is actually 35mm in length. A standard 135 frame is 24x36mm. Also, 6x6 is a square format, so when you are figuring crop factors (for whatever idiotic reason people feel the need to do this), you have to figure one factor for the long axis and one for the short axis.
>> Anonymous
>>97161
no you dont. the only equivalence you look at is the angle of view you have. its the same no matter how tall a frame is
>> BlackAdder !!bSWRwu/NqzQ
A controversial lens it would seem. :)
>> Anonymous !SDPEsPMnww
>>97161There is no dimension of 35mm film that is actually 35mm in length.

The strip of film is 35mm wide.

If you're talking about a single frame, however, then yes, neither dimension is 35mm.
