Macro lens Anonymous
I'm looking to buy a macro lens for my D40, what would /p/ suggest?

I've been looking at getting the 60mm micro nikkor. It's manual focus only on the d40, but not a big deal for macro work, I've had to (without practice) manually focus a couple times with the kit lens and got the focus I wanted, should be better with the 60. Depends on if you're going to be shooting active subjects like insects, though, in that case you'd want something with a bit more distance like the 105mm VR.

I was looking at both of those, but leaning more towards the 105 because of the AF, although manual won't break the deal

if you can find one, get a Nikkor ED AF Mircro 70-180mm f/4.5-5.6 D

its a great macro, the only true zoom macro in the world and doubles as a good telephoto too.

I've got one and i love it to bits.
