OK, this is a change from the usual "rate my photos" threads on /p/. I am very new to photography in general and just bought my first DSLR. Anyways, a couple days ago somebody posted a link to a site about learning Photoshop (something I know nothing about), etc. and unfortunately the thread is now dead. It was in the thread where someone posted some pictures of Japan and someone else decided to "spice up
the pictures via post processing. Any chance of someone knowing to what I am referring?

Pic is something I took with my old P&S.

not nearly enough bloom.

also lol. yodobashi in akihabara is freaking huge. hell, it has an entire floor dedicated just to restaurants. not bad for an electronics store.

OP here. Not looking for anyone to shop my pics. Just want a tutorial-type site like the one I mentioned in my original post.

And yes, Yodobashi is indeed fricking huge. This was taken on the toy floor, which of all things, also had a porno section (where I also took a pic, heh).

Easy ways to "spice up" images:

Levels Adjustment Layer - slide the right and left triangles to where the black stuff starts or close to it (this brings your highlights closer to pure white and your shadows closer to black).

Curves Adjustment Layer - make two points on the line, one 1/3 from the top and one 1/3 from the bottom. Move the bottom one down and right a few pixels and move the top one up and left a few pixels (this makes a contrast curve).

Alternatively, just go through every option in the Image and Filters pull down menus and see what they all do - this is how I learned a lot of what I know.

Cool shot. I'm going to Japan at the end of the year mainly for photography purposes. Well, and to get drunk. Can't wait.

I'm the one who decided to spice up the aforementioned photographs. The tutorial-site I mentioned is located at http://www.radiantvista.com

Cool. Thanks that's what I was looking for. Also got the pic you posted elsewhere.

And yeah, getting drunk in Tokyo is fucking awesome. Just stay the hell away from Roppongi unless you want to get AIDS and 15 Africans on every block who will try to lure you into their "titty bars."
