and lastly, here's my favourite one.

i was pretty surprised i managed to get perfect exposure the first time. a rarity cuz i always fuck up using my other lens @ aperture priority mode and manual.

all shot at f/2.0

I assume it was homegrown trolls, since some of the posts were spouting brandfaggotry and memes like Nikons hammering nails. So hopefully whoever was doing it has now been banned and we're down one troll. But they probably weren't doing it on their own connection. Sigh.

yea...but i think the imperfections give the portraits, dare i say, innocence? sounds pretentious but i like realism in photography cuz we're already bombarded with shoop da whooped whores every day. absolutely hate fashion photography. i dunno, i just prefer it this way. dunno, what's your take on it?

tl;dr i want my portraits to show what a REAL person looks like, and how they can still be beautiful.

Since I'm a pathetic Amerifag, I went and looked up what rusks are. Apparently, they're different things in the Netherlands, South Africa, and two different things in the UK.

With my newfound rusk expertise, I'm going to call these as South African rusks.

Has the Wiki failed me, else?

how do i shot meaning? :(
i would really like to do a real photoshoot next time.

she was lying on the carpet playing with the silk scarf so i decided to take some photos, but we had a conversation while i was shooting. i thought the photos were pretty sincere and meaningful and had really great colour. guess i was overconfident and utterly wrong :(

still getting the hang of using a prime lens. i've been too reliant on zoom to compose shots before.

That's an odd statement. Walking back or moving forward shouldn't be too much work if you're using a prime versus a zoom, especially for portrait shots.

Lies. Those are phoney rusks. South Africa doesn't count.
>> sage else !L6xabslN96

being a short, and with her lying on the floor, in a small room i was annoyed because i could never "zoom out" enough to get more of her in and keep the same perspective, even when i stood on a chair. was also trying to mantain focus on her eyes through the shitty viewfinder while composing and talking to her.

i'm sure the 50mm = 75mm on d40 has something to do with it.

>horrible unflattering colors too

what's wrong with teh colors? they're probably the only thing good about these shots.

Jesus fucking Christ, the worst thing you can do is take /p/'s blunt and exaggerated criticism without a grain of salt.
>> Anonymous
>>292671
>and keep the same perspective

This is why you use a prime. When you zoom out, you change perspective, in the literal sense.

Try getting some old 28 or 35. F/2 and f/1.4 Nikkors, respectively, are great, 28/2's better IMO. There's a also well-reputed but not as good 28/2.8 AI-S Nikkor, too, that's probably cheaper. Also IMO, 28 gives a nicer perspective than 35 on DX.

>>292671

Unless you are the Jolly Green Giant then that lens is a little long for your uses in that situation normally. If you take the time to work around it and get used to it though you'll like it. You'll just need to find the height. Perhaps a step ladder. ;)

i'm actually keeping a lookout for some, but the 50mm 1.8 was quite hard to find here. there's only 1 photography shop where i live that sells 2nd hand shit and i went there every week to check for items. being a poorfag doesn't help either :(

i did get a nikon FE as a bargain so i'll be delving into the dangeresque realm of film too. got a roll of HP400 and planning to document a prominent street, historical here that's gonna have it's name changed - which is causing some flak. it's a roll of 24, so my idea is to walk up the street and take a photo at every 1km mark, for 20km. haven't decided if i want to display them as a continuous "passing-by" line of photos or just take shots of anything interesting at each mark. never shot in film before, so i'm gonna stick to auto exposure for now...

Can't be bothered to heavily critique the photos, but they're alright. I bet shes happy with them, they're flattering and enhance her eyes, nice soft even lighting.
>> else !L6xabslN96

yes she is \:D/

what's surprising is that the light was from one large window and it was overcast - if not raining. but the colour seemed more vivid in the photos than in real life for some reason, or my eyes are fuckt.

yes but to what end? it seems most people use it as an excuse for exhibitionism and softcore pornography. references: deviantart.

besides, a person's character is captured better when they're clothed - well for most people anyway.
