Yo, so I'm new to photography and we had to buy a DSLR for class and so I bought a NikonD80.

So I ask you /p/ to give me some tips on how to begin with photography.

What should I take pictures of in my spare time.
How? Any basic theories you want to explain, we get this at class but still I ponder about how this and that...

just go out and take pictures of what you like taking pictures of.

Shoot a theme and give yourself only 36 pictures to do it. Then go back and look at them unedited and see what you can do better.

First off, legally buy photoshop. (No Torrents LoL!)

Then, Work on sweet photoshop techniques (motion blur, diffuse glow, a ton of contrast and saturation, etc.)

Now kill yourself

Go and walk around with your D80. Don't take pictures. Just walk around. Then you will be /p/ro.

The best way to learn is just to shoot the most that you can. Look at lots of other photographers too see what you like about their photos and then try to recreate that on your own. Experiment with lighting and different angles.

I also listen to this podcast: http://twipphoto.com/ and read the blog. I think they are very informative.
