How much did you spend on your FD to EF mount adapter? The answer is 'too much.'

You should be using a 28mm faggot.

just because the subject is croped doesn't mean you need a wider lens, maybe he just wanted to have subject croped

50mm FD lens? On an EOS camera? how did you manage that?

with a shitty adapter

no one said anything about cropping

If you use a 28mm and 50mm to make the same cropped composition, the 28 will give more foreshortening

ISO should be lower so the hair has the maximum detail possible. light should be further away from the subject or somehow made less harsh so that there isn't so much loss of detail in the hair due to those overexposed sections. white balance should be adjusted (unless you wanted it to have too much red from what appears to be an incandescent lamp).

...I'm assuming this isn't lomo and you want lots of detail in the hair, since it's the subject and takes up most of the frame.

Also, i probably would have cropped as pictured here. A dark purple background might have been nice to compliment the blond hair. BTW, the hair with the arrows pointing to it is cool.
