Hi, /p/, what's up? I'm just posting something I shot on saturday.

Some context for this image: this was shot in northern Mexico, in one of the slummiest parts of one of Mexico's richest cities. Housing in that zone (not really visible in this shot) consisted mostly of collected wood boards, wooden storage platforms, grooved tin plate ceilings, and in the case of the more fortunate of them, unpainted cinder block walls. As for the subject here, the woman was using the parasol to guard herself from the harsh sun, but not too far away, a storm was already forming.

Pardon the shitty resolution, it's a center crop I had to do because I was pretty much shooting blindly due to environmental/social conditions, so I had to shoot quickly and ignore the use of zoom. Too bad my film camera is currently out of commission.

Also inb4 dAfag bullshit etc., I'm none of that, I only wanted to let you know about the place where I took it, ignore it if you will. Works, doesn't work? What could be improved, and how?

Thoughts, /p/?

It's alright.. but would look better with a little more direct sunlight in some spots.

Maybe. It does look fucking low contrast, which is what I assume you're mainly pointing at. Isn't there a lot of clutter though? I'm not sure some spotty sunlight could have helped much. Do tell me though, like where? I might be imagining it different to you.

It might be interesting to see the poles casting a bit of shadow on the dirt road... right now the whole lower 3rd area of the photo looks too flat.

Good point. The path gives a little bit of perspective, but really not enough. Not much I could do about the shadows though, 1, 2pm isn't a good hour for that. Worth keeping in mind, though.

Meese, you retard, that's not a cool part of Mexico. It's a poor neighborhood. And this place that looks like a trail 5 minutes from your house is just very similar to the shitty slums where people are living in. In any case, Meese (and I've already been trolled a bit long, but oh well), the "cool place" isnt the subject of the picture. If you fail to see that there's a tiny little bit more than just a road in that picture, you're a fucking retard and should quit photography as a whole. You fail at vision.

It's Monterrey, sir.

For once Meese is close to right. There's zero context for this picture without your long-ass caption.

It's not bad, but it doesn't get across the whole poverty thing, the whole wealth disparity thing, the hot sun thing... it could work with some other shots alongside it, but as it stands it's a well-composed picture of someone of indeterminate everything holding an umbrella while walking down a trail five minutes from Meese's house.
