Need a little assistance please Anonymous
I would like to print out poster-sized pictures and edits I do, possibly to sell or make a business out of doctoring photos.

Any tips on how to A:print very large pictures B:turn photo-shopping into a little business or C:learn how to photo-shop better.

This is an original pic...

Hilarious.

Your shitty photoshops have NO place in this board.
>> Anonymous
I just realized my original post is a little confusing.

I am trying to make money by doctoring people's photos for them.

I want to know things like how much to charge, how to advertise (I am in school at Texas A&M) and any additional info.
>> Anonymous
You want to turn it into business? any 12 year old with a computer and a pirated version of photoshop 7 could do this. hell they could do it in ms paint for fuck sakes.
>> Anonymous
Doctering sounds to professional. considering these shops are shit you need to become an hero now.
>> Anonymous
Hehe, well at least I'm going to try.

But go ahead and critique without actually accomplishing/producing anything on your own.

No matter how much I suck now, it's better than sitting on my ass doing nothing, and if I practice I'll get better.
>> Anonymous
By the way these are the first pics I've ever shooped.

Since you guys are apparantly professionals, let's see some of your work.
>> Anonymous
Not saying he's off to a great start but hell if one day he becomes successful and rich one day doctoring pictures and you're still sitting on your ass reading 4chan....

Remember Marla Olmstead? she was like 4 years old but was considered artistic genius and sold like nearly a million dollars in paintings in a couple of months....
>> Anonymous
How do u shoop whoop?

I dunno... I tried doing those tutorials that came with it, they are mediocre but give em a shot.
>> Anonymous
>>72367
we dont consider pictures shooped to shit "work" we consider it "shooped to shit." so when you ask to see our work you will see photos with slight adjustments not girls imbeded in the background of an already shitty photo.
>> Anonymous
These are just awful, I mean come on

>>72356
You think people will pay you to crop an image (with bad lighting) and paste it on a generic background?

>>72358
What is this crap, you blurred parts of the image and drew some white on one eye.

There is a job that involves doctoring photos, it's called professional photography and the reason people pay them money is because they white out braces, make skin look smooth, and add dramatic lighting.
>> Anonymous
>>72371

Still don't see you posting anything

>>72372

any retard can smooth out skin and take braces off, healing brush and stamp tool are idiot-proof, adding "dramatic lighting" is a simple change of preferences.

You talk about "professional work" and then list the most basic functions of photo shop.

tl;dr, you have no clue what you are talking about.

(by the way I'm enjoying this, it's easy, like arguing with 5-year-olds.)

First, while not being an ass like everyone else, you do need a lot more practice. That isnt a insult, everyone needs to start somewhere.

To answer your question; to print a photo successfully as a Poster, you need to resize it bicubical. I use Photoshop, and does most of the photographers i know.

Prices i have no idea about. 'Shops i've done? The posted image is one of my forum signitures i use. Made with !Photo Plus 4, and using multiple pictures from the Anime Gundam Wing.

well I dunno... I actually really like the concept of this one, contrast is always a good idea (foreground/background black/white dark/white.)
>> Anonymous
You all just got trolled so hard.
>> Xan
Trolled? Who cares?

The guy might be genuine. He might not. Either way, it took me 2 minutes to set up that post, hardly a long time.

Good luck man, it can be a lot of fun editing photos/pictures; and when you get to the profesional skill level its a good money maker too.
>> Anonymous
dig on emule for a plug called 'genuine fractals'. fine stuff for nutty resizing (but nothing is magic). invest in a roll-fed plotter.
>> Anonymous
I wouldn't pay you ten cents to desecrate a photo. this is shit. and don't you tell me to show you mine because by the looks of it, no one can shop as shitty as you. its disgusting and emberassing. now a days anyone can call themselves a fucking artist because of programs like photoshop. your just another dime a dozen. go back to the rock you crawled out from under and die. die with your shitty shops, lack of talent and your dreams of desecrating peoples photos for money.

You'll never be a pro photoshopper until you learn the most important technique in the whole program:

Lens flare.

"Photoshopping" is a dime a dozen, and I think most digital artists know it like old hat, like the back of their hand. I couldn't imagine anyone NOT. Hell, I'd imagine 95% of advertising, magazine photos, etc are doctored in some fashion. So making money from it? You'd probably have to be DAMNED good.
As to learning Photoshop better, practice practice. Books can help, as can classes. A local digital darkroom around here, for instance, has classes in Photoshop. Sometimes a structured environment can really help push you further than self-teaching. That being said, some good results can be had from trial and error, and just mucking about. Once you make a mistake, or make something ugly, maybe you'll remember it and know to do it later to good use.
And for printing... When doing artwork, its always good to start at 200 or 300%, and shrink later. If you start at 100%, well.... its just not good. You start at a larger size, when you shrink it down your effects may become less noticeable, and thus look better overall. So, you start with as large a pic as possible. Have your camera or whatnot take the max size image, and work with that. Shrink as necessary. When ready to print, you can try homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ or blockposters.com/

This is good 'shopping. When you can do this kind of 'shopping, I'd say your money problems (if any) are over.

Your shop is absolutely horrible, I dare say even worse then the OP's - And that is an insult. Leave now, and never return, for you are beyond all hope.

>>72477
The first link is just eugh.
Excessive airbrushing and a couple of Contrast and Saturation tweaks is not good shopping. I'm fucking sick and tired of seeing endless airbrushed models who are airbrushed to the point of looking like representations of a humanoid figure made out of super-smooth plastic - There's honestly nothing to it, it's just an easy gimmick, and that fucking cunt deserves zero credit.
The second link, on the other hand - I shat bricks at the sheer awesomeness. I couldn't habeeb that the one with the horses was actually shooped together from multiple images, until I took close looks at the layers and detail (I can tell by looking at the pixels and etc)
Now, that guy is really fucking impressive.

Additionally, Anonymous suggests that all of you become callous bastards like I have and abandon all hope of ever making a living off art, since quite frankly, the art industry (Especially Digital Art) is seriously oversaturated, and you'll never earn a living off of it unless you're massively lucky - Leave it as a hobby, or enjoy your Starbucks job.
