BAD LIGHT GOOD LENS BurtGummer !!RRMHFHglFsy
(I HATE GEARS THREADS TOO BUT...)

I'm trying to get my hands on a budget "poor light" lens. Im currently looking at the 50mm F1.8 nikon.

Are there any others that i should look at? Useable for macro/zoom/wide angle perhaps?

No.

The 50/1.8 is probably the best cheap portrait lens for nikon. If you want a good general purpose low light, have look at the sigma 30/1.4, it's more expensive, however.

Nothing is more cost effective for shooting in dim light than a 50/1.8 Nikkor if you have a Nikon camera.

The Nikon 50 1.8 is good. Better than the Canon. (oh shit...)

This is gonna be a prime lens, probably, so there will be no zooming involved.

If you want wide, there are a variety of wide lenses that would do fine in low light. Basically, I would go with that Nikon.
