They have better have solved the damn mirror interference problem with backfocus lenses. If this thing comes out and I can't use my 35/2 Takumar on it I will be REALLY FUCKING PISSED.
>> Anonymous
>>248595
According to the canon rumors pages (northlight-images.co.uk):
"The 5D replacement is also designed to be an easy step up for current XXD owners, preserving lens investments etc."

Since EF lenses are already usable on both FF and crop, this kind of implies that a new 5D would take EF-S lenses much like the FX Nikons taking DX lenses. That means that the mirror has to be pulled in to avoid interference at the wide end of EF-S lenses. So the knock problem with M42s should be non-existent :)
>> Anonymous
>>248595
I doubt they'll redesign the entire mirror box. Why would Canon care about the owners of Takumars?
>> Anonymous
>>248616
They're already redesigning the mirror box because they're making an entirely new camera. Also, no other full-frame cameras have the mirror interference issue -- I can use my Takumars on a 1Ds or DCS/Pro/c just fine. (Nikon has retardo-adapter but it also works on those). It was just a stupid bork on Canon's part when they made the 5D. It's not like it takes some complex optical voodoo to make the mirror not interfere; you just have to move it back and up and increase the size of the prism a bit (like on the 1Ds).

In related good news, the prism housing on these teaser images looks fucking epic huge.

haha i'm not going to be able to afford the 5dii anyway! There's always going to be better technology.
>> Anonymous
>>248740

Yes, I've seen this.
I might have the balls for it after I'd owned the camera for a few years. But I wouldn't take my $2-3k camera and immediately have a go at the inside with a dremel.

Incidentally, when I do upgrade, I think I might convert my rebel to digital IR. Should be a fun project and make for some pretty epic photos.

you can't convert a rebel (any rebel) to IR

that is not a true IR conversion

read that fucking page you linked, you idiot

it even says so
>> Anonymous
>>248770
How is that not an IR conversion? They took out the cut filter and put an IR filter over the lens. So the only light coming in is IR. I don't understand?
>> $19.99 !OSYhGye6hY
>>248770
You can do true ir conversion for $325 here

>> $19.99 !OSYhGye6hY
>>248771
for *true* ir conversion, they put the ir filter over the sensor, so you can still see through the viewfinder. And you shutter speed wont be EXTREM SLOW.

>> Anonymous
>>248778

Well, your shutter speed still wouldn't be extremely slow, since there's plenty of IR light. The metering would be fucked up because of the black filter, but it would be wrong anyway. I can see that it would be better to put the filter over the sensor cause then you could see through the finder, but this way you can always take the filter off and put an IR cut over the lens, and shoot pretty much normally...

Please tell me they're not calling the 5D II the "Evolution." That's somehow worse than "Rebel." Don't ask me how, I don't know, it just is.

Good (great) for studio and landscape work. Not so much for other stuff.

Which hopefully means 100% coverage and good magnification.

One rumor going around is that it's going to just be the EOS Digital -- no model number or anything. I don't think evolution is going to be in the name but who knows really?

If it does turn out to be called the Evolution, then in europe it'll be the 6D (boring europeans) and in Japan it'll be the EOS Bright Seagull X.

Some prerelease test samples floating around and one ad in a foreign magazine is not the definition for "real" that I would generally use. The actual official a900 announcement hasn't happened yet, just like the official whatever-this-is announcement. They are both vaporware.

Bardem's done better roles. Speaking of that, Vicky Christina Barcelona, thoughts on the photography part of it?

Did Woody Allen come out as a filmfag, or does he just write psycho Spanish painter women as them?
Does Scarlett Johannson actually know how to rock a Leica like we thought, or does she just play someone who does?
SPOILER Sex is the darkroom y/n?

Sage becsuse all of this has more to do with photography than impotently speculating and wanking over whatever shit the manufacturers will give us.
