Do you think film will continue to be used, as the digital cameras continue to improve? in the professional market.

this film was made for walking
and that's just what they'll do

OP, in response to what I assume was your question, yes, film will continue to be used, but its popularity will continue to wane as digital gets cheaper and higher fidelity. The crappiest current p&s can now match the quality of the original professional digital cameras that were released back when I was a pup. It's only a matter of time, but much like vinyl records, there will always be somebody who prefers things the way they were.

Film will continue to have some use. But as we get higher resolutions, more usability, more dynamic range, etc from our digitals film use will go down.

in the commercial professional market film will be nearly non existent within 10 years time.
only certain oldschool or artsy (lomo, lol) photographers will still use film for years and years to come.

I predict that the new invention of the photograph will spell the end for painting.

I doubt it will end painting, maybe the next great invention will just find it own artistical niche in the world, as everything else has found its place?.@>?

Photography definitely changed painting.

How many paintings do you have in your house of you?

exactly none. but is that because painting has died, or is that because having a painting done of oneself was and still is a habit of the upper and upper-middle classes?

Fun fact: Kodak's coming out with a new film.

Looks like it's basically Velvia for C41. Or Portra VC for misanthropes.

Film will always have an artsy, romanticized appeal. Undeserved or otherwise.

i get the feeling that this is kodak responding to all the hundreds of thousands of one hour photo labs who are going out of business.

really, i can't think of any other reason to introduce a new c41 film.
