Are there any cheap DSLRs aimed at professionals rather than consumer/prosumers? I'm buying my first DSLR soon and I need your advice on the most inexpensive camera and lens that is actually good without overkill user-friendly features built in.

The D60, for example, has "Stop-movie Creation". I just don't want to pay for stupid crap I wouldn't use.

Hah, no. The pro cameras are way, way more expensive than the lower end cameras. Think of it more like you're getting the extra stupid crap you won't use for negative money.

Also: If you don't know that extremely basic fact about the camera industry, I'd say that a pro camera isn't for you.

Choosing a DSLR based on the least amount of crap built in is stupid. Even most "user-friendly" DSLR still has all of the manual controls, and pros often use cheap consumer cameras as backup or when they don't want to carry extra weight.

no, of course not. well, actually, maybe. technically. you can pick up an old Nikon D1x for under 600 bucks easy. but new? not now, not ever.

but who fucking cares about extra scene modes? every dslr comes with M(anual), so as long as you leave your dial on that, you'll never know the difference.

just go buy a goddamn canon.
