Oh man there's a sweet medium format that you can pick up for about £100 and I can't for the life of me remember the name!

I think it's something that sounds like leica and apache but I cant remember :(

Yashica! That's the one! They're beautifully made and dirt cheap.

$51? Sorted.

At that price point, you could probably get a basic Mamiya M645 system.

Holga :p

Cheap in MF is hard. First cause MF equipment was never cheap (holgas and dianas and related crap excepted), and second because it's getting rare. If you don't want a TLR, look at Mamiya or the Pentax 67 or 645. I personally would love to get a 67 at some point.
If you think you could deal with a TLR, Rolleis are fun cameras...

If you want a cheapish way to get into a system that'll actually grow with you, the Bronicas are a great choice. SQ for 6x6 and ETR/ETRS for 645. They've become ridiculous cheap, like everything else film, the past ~decade.

It's pretty easy to find an SQ system for $300. You can also often get older Mamiya RB67 kits for 300-350.

Mamiya 645 1000s

just make sure it comes with a metered prism finder and good light seals

if you don't worry about having a digital back- an RB67 system might be up your alley, you can get em for like 500 if you look in the right place

Get a cheapass bargain bin folding leaf shutter camera for $20. Sharper pics than a Holga, and more control too.
