1. Don't leave your camera in your pants.
2. Do your own fucking laundry. Lazy ass.

it's probably fucked.

but

you can put it in the oven at 100F-125F for 8-10 hours and see if you can revive it. I did it with a friends cell phone.

i feel for your loss, anon.

Wasn't in my pants. It was lying on my bed. And I do my own laundry, by my room mate decided to try and make up for a fight we had earlier by picking up the apartment and cleaning everything. Thus, her fucking me over.

I'm not putting my camera in the oven.

Is the rice deal a good idea?

oven fag here

just an FYI

It's an enclosed lens. It only pops out during camera use, as it's compact.

since it's a point and shoot (since you called it a digital camera and not a DSLR. And it'd be pretty fucking hard to run a DSLR through a washing machine.), even if the lens completely dries, there's a large chance of film/other nasty things on the inside of the lens from the detergent.

Helpful video starring Andy Ihnatko. Not a rickroll. I promise. Would I lie to you?

It went through the rinse cycle, so I can't see why a whole lot of detergent would stick in there.

but did you spindry it?

It's currently in a bag of rice. The rice should pull out all the moisture.
>> I Think I Feel a Miscarriage Coming On !nrkDOUHxJk
Any more advice?

Seriously, my link wasn't a rickroll. It contained helpful advice from someone who had actually tested several techniques by sending cell phones through a washing machine.

I'm not crafting an elaborate fiction to try to trick you into clicking a rickroll link.

Cook the rice and go buy a new camera.

I know, I went there, watched it.

Damn. I was trying to make you think I was sending you to a rickroll as a complicated multi-level deception.

Ohwell, maybe next time.

washing machine seems like an awfully strange place to keep a camera
>> Anonymous
just make sure it dries out with the battery removed for a good while before you try turning it back on.

Rice absorbs water. Ever noticed in really humid areas (see: beaches) that restaurants tend to have rice in their salt shakers? Same reason. Draws the moisture out.

Though the idea of a camera stuck down in a sack of rice is laughable.

Mmm, rice powder in a wet camera.
>> Anonymous
Why not add some soy sauce and chopped mixed peppers while you are at it?

ac's link explains it
why would ac rickroll you?

this picture is wonderful!

Let us know how your camera fairs after the rice treatment.

I dropped my ipod in the toilet once. I read online that if you soak it in rubbing alcohol it will fix it. I did it and it worked. I think it has to be diluted though, look it up.

Besides, even if it were a RickRoll, who doesn't enjoy Rick Astley's musical stylings?
