Advanced multiple lighting Steven
I'm not too familiar working with multiple lighting yet. I am looking for lighting equipment to over expose the background like studio shots. I would like two for even background lighting. My Pentax AF540FGZ with the Gary Fong Whaletail will be used on the subject. The image is a example I found on flickr.

Sorry, something went wrong during the picture upload.

you can use some work lights to do that kind of thing. they are relatively cheap.

I prefer something more portable and professional looking. Can you recommend something on B&H photo or Adorama?

its basically the same thing. if that is indeed the kind of lighting you are looking for, none of it is really all that portable, so why spend $1000+ for a lightstand when you can use a worklight for the same effect and spend $50

Get a cheap manual flash like the Vivitar 285HV (or two) and a way to slave them to your camera (the little "Cactus PT-04" wireless flash triggers on eBay work well with the 285HV. Alternately, you can get the little Wein peanut flash slaves)

>>79861I have looked into the Vivitar 285HV, but reading through many reviews of Wein slave triggers, it seems Wein products have high failure rates; either DOA or malfunctions within the first few uses. The problem with the cactus trigger is all my flashes become full manual. I wanted to use my Pentax AF540FGZ on P-TTL to light the subject and use a manual flash to light the background, the flash lighting the background would be activated by light sensors like a Wein.

The most difficult problem is finding built in/add on slave flash trigger which will work with pre flash.

lol work lights are about as portable as the "proper" light stands... it's not like you're going to carry lighting equipment of that type on your feet all day anyway

get a black spray can for $5 and there you have your "professional-looking" lights...
