I'm trying to decide if I want to keep this 50mm lens or not. Not having auto focus is a bit annoying.

sell it

use money to invest in gold

buy af-s 50/1.4 when it comes out with change to spare
>> Anonymous
OP: I only bought it yesterday, so I think I'm going to return it, but I will miss it's awesomeness.
I'll upgrade to a D80 later on in time and get a 50mm then.

i would say keep it!
how much did it cost?
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
If someone suggested the Sigma 50mm f1.4 then go and get that for now, I'm not sure if the new Nikon AFS 50mm f1.4 would be any good, guess it would be though.
>> Anonymous
sigma 50/1.4 > smc takumar 50/1.4 > zeiss 50/1.4 > canon 50/1.2 > nikon 50/1.4 > canon 50/1.4 > canon 50/1.8
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
>>271545
- Don't think the Pentax 50mm f1.4 was ever that good
- The new Zeiss lenses are made by Cosina and although they're a good optical house, still not as good as actual Zeiss
- Nikon 50s have a reputation of bad bokeh, never stopped me from using them though
- The Canon 1.4 and 1.8s have build quality issues, not really keen on them
- The Canon EF 50mm f1.2 is one of the best lenses I've used

except the Nikon af-s version is set to be 100$ less than the Sigma..

So considering the resale of First party stuff, and the fact that it could be very close to if not better than the sigma in terms of image quality (And will definitely be smaller in size)

Might want to wait till dec to make that decision.
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
>>271555
Yes, I forgot to add if he needs it now then buy it, if not then wait for the AFS.

uh, legendary 50/1.4 and super cheap

>> - The new Zeiss lenses are made by Cosina and although they're a good optical house, still not as good as actual Zeiss

no one said new zeiss, planar t*

in conclusion, you have no idea what you're talking about
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
>>271608
What an idiot.

Every one of the japanese optical companies have their own legendary fast primes, and most of them are 'legendary' because they perform well. The Nikkors were legendary.

And about the Zeiss, Zeiss makes so many 50/1,4 (btw, european writes 1,4, not 1.4 you know that?) that it's impossible to tell what you're talking about. And only now you state it.

In conclusion, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Looking at a Leica lens it clearly says "1.4"

Looking at a Carl Zeiss lens it clearly says "3.5"

Yeah those pesky eurofags with their commas...
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
>>271636
The point is your have no idea what you're talking about, pentax being the best is at the very least foolish.

And if you would care to have a look, the Leica is a COMMA, same as the Zeiss. If you can't even see, how can you be a photographer? lol I guess yeah, Pentax the best. LOL WUT
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
Point is moot, their TRADITION is to use commas, in modern days some of them have converted to fullstops, whereas the Japanese used fullstops.

The end.
>> Anonymous
>>271642

No, moron. The point is that they clearly use "." in some too. You are an idiot and a liar as you are bound to have come across both kinds in your desperate scrabble to Google for images. They use both and you are completely clueless.

Oh, so now you happily admit that your european writes 1,4, not 1.4 statement is wrong?

Sweet as.
>> Anonymous
>>271646
Yeah, I guess it's more moronic than saying Pentax is the best without much proof. My desperate attempts to google images? You think I waste my time to scramble to do that? LOL WUT I actually have the ZF Zeiss lenses, so I used that.

>>271649
Hey internet hero, it's not proven wrong, you can clearly see the Leica and Zeiss having commas. It's just idiotic people like yourself being anonymous trying to be heroes. Or better yet, become an heroes.
>> Grebbin !!M4ehTJKOnNf
>>271653
Ooops. It's me, your internet lover.

>>271651
How can it be wrong if they use commas as well?

And you have yet to prove that the pentax is superior anyway lol

Since I have finish my intraweb business, I have to go anyway, intraweb conflicts is SERIOUS BUSINESS indeed.
>> Anonymous
>>271654

You're wrong because your blanket statement implied all european lenses have commas.

And I not once mentioned anything about Pentax. Just the fact that "european writes 1,4, not 1.4" is wrong, plain and simple.

grebbin is pretty dumb

$200. And I don't plan to go buy the Nikkor 50mm AF-S f/1.4 for the $500 or something it is.

^faggot who can't get over how awesome the Sigma is
>> Anonymous
>>272011
Sigma is OK, and that`s a major achievement for this company.
Takumar and Zeiss wipe the floor with sigma.
>> Anonymous
>>272033
But you're forgetting, the quality of a lens is determined ONLY by how well-corrected it is at a huge maximum aperture, because we all know the more out of focus, the better, nevermind the quality of the bokeh!
>> Anonymous
>>272011
faggot who doesn't understand that just because some jerk-off says Sigma is "awesome" (gosh is that a played out term), doesn't make is so.

And to all those who think that the Zeiss is top, I hope you are not referring to current production.
