Holy crap, it's a flower! Now that's something you don't see here too often...
>> Anonymous
Overexposed at the top, flower underexposed (a little). Oh and it's a pretty boring looking flower to be honest.
>> annoyingmouse
/p/ missed the real problem with the picture. The flower is was too tiny for this type of background.
also: you could find a better looking flower and move a bit so that the background is lit more or less the same (difference between sunlight and shade is huge)
To my taste, your camera doesnt give enough detail so up-close but nothing you can do there.

Actually...some reason I like it. The composition makes me think. The exposure could definitely be better but I like it otherwise.

And you can tell by my inability to write English, that I was up all night with a sick kid. making up for it with a random pic of flower or cactus, whatever I find faster.

hehe I found this old funny one. I held the flowers at gun point so that they stand still while I take some good macros.

you probably lolled because it was funny. That is a perfectly normal reaction, and nothing you should worry about.
Here are some attempts at making pics of flowers look less like, well, another picture of a flower.
This one "obviously artsy" because there is some old barb wire there next to the flower as a nice contradiction.
Also a good example why you should not have sunshine and shade in the same frame.

here's what you get by flashing it in the middle of the day, background gets all dark (but on the other hand flash bounces back and burns spots here and there)

and well sometimes you just find a flower that you like so much, that you take a pic and don't care about everybody going "ZOMG its another flower"

Post some flowers /p/ and your methods of making them look interesting. I am not very good with flowers but keep trying. I have much better success with leaves/trees/mushrooms and such because they are naturally more interesting subjects and not "just pretty".
