Hey /p/retty ladies,

I'm working on my photo final (12 photo narrative through portraiture) and I'm wondering how far I can push things before it gets too cheesy.

Here is the first photo from the set.
Should I knock down the color? or maybe push it up even further?

What did you use to light it?

Combination of window light and tungsten desk lamp.

If you're going to go for the hilarious emotive pretty boy thing, at least shave off your chin stubble.

Exposure Time 1/30 sec
F-Number f/9.0
ISO Speed Rating 400

Also you have perfect control over your light in a studio setting. Get enough light to use 100 iso

Also it looks like you have your jaws open with you lips closed. Not a good look.

Model isn't me-

As far as the iso setting, my camera is busted up and does not meter properly, I'm also 80% sure the sensor is broken, since whenever I try to photograph with an ISO lower than 400, the shutter speed slows down immensely, even in direct sunlight.

Go about four hundred feet in the opposite direction you're currently going and you'll be on the brink between "Cheesy" and "Sub-Par".

Doesn't matter. You're the photographer, which makes it even more your fault.

Good Lord, no.

I see you Michele Weiner
I see you when you're awake
I see you when you're asleep
I know if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake!

as these were just practice shots for the final, I didn't want him to shave just yet. I wanted to see where I was going with it before having him change his appearance otherwise I wouldn't have had his beard for shots like this one.

See, the facial hair here is fine. The emphasis is different from the op image. The first image comes across about trying to perfect an image while the second one comes off as more of a documentation of human form.

Not sure how I take that one.

This is for the one photo class I'm required to take. I'm an advertising Design student, and photography is not one of my strong points. In fact, I strongly dislike photography.

I suppose what I'm asking is, what constitutes a good photo narrative?

Wow. I'd expect more from a photo final. I do hope you just did a three week course, anything longer to learn what you shot is just a waste of time.
