OP here again and let me just add that I hate automatic cameras - give me my father's old Nikon F2 - I HAVE to do everything manual. When it's automatic it's like I'm fighting with the camera to get it to do what I want.
I bought the DX3500 cause it's a real brick though - a sturdy piece of equipment which is rare for digitals!
anyway, here's a slightly less bad photograph. since the student walkout lasted well into the evening, socialist alternative provided bread and soup for the students.
