Would processing 800 asa 12 exp film at 400 asa 24 exp result in a blank roll?

No. It would result in a roll that's one stop overexposed.

12 exposure rolls are developed exactly the same as 24 exposure rolls, so that would have no effect.

Just checked and it is.
I think it might have to do with how i loaded the film. The manual was so old i could barely read the instructions.

My first three or so rolls through my ME were blanks because I loaded them wrong. They can be finicky. Make sure it's completely latched onto the sprockets before closing the back.

yeah, my technique for winding one film was to wind it on far enough to take the first pic with the back open, then close it and take a couple more.
