Technically, the picture is fine (In focus, exposed properly, decently narrow DoF), and composition isn't bad, it just feels bland, lacks any drama of the moment. Anons who are bitching about rule of thirds are forgetting that it works vertically as well as horizontally.
Your main problem is location. A parking lot full of cars is both uninteresting, and too distracting. The bright sky is also causing some issues with getting a good exposure, either you'll overexpose it, or underexpose the skater.
My recommendation is to find a location with a relatively simple background, a tall wall or side of a building would work well, and to shoot from a low angle. The reason for using the wall is to block out the sky, letting you expose well while shooting upwards, as well as to avoid unnecessary distraction. That said, if it's a cool building or wall, like covered in tagging or something, that can work well, and I'd be interested to see a shot like this taken in front of a large tinted window, with a good reflection of the skater.
You're out shooting, you've got a good niche to work with, and you're working on photography rather than sitting around jacking off to your gear, so you're already a step ahead of most of the anons here.
