Well my local photography store is going out of business. Partly based on internal politics, partly too small profit margins (and not enough business to support the staff)

On the plus side everything in the store was 20% off starting yesterday, so instead of waiting till later on in summer to pick up a D300, I bought one yesterday for $1440 (CAD) brand new. Unfortunately they didn't have the Battery grip so I have to make do for a bit without one (I hate battery grips but 8fps will be wicked!)

Anyway. I was playing around and forgot I left the camera at ISO 1600 (Later adjusted to ISO 400, not sure what this picture was taken at). However this body doesn't matter soo much for that :)

$1440 CAD is a bit over the price of a D80 in scandinavia haha :(

$1440 CAD is a bit over the price of a 5 months teenage hooker fuck fest in thailand haha :(

You may call me a nerd, but I'd prefer a D300 to a chance of simultaneously getting every STD in existence.

condoms lol ¯\(º o)/¯

You're a dumbass. Just the ticket to Thailand would be more than $1440. Five straight months of hookers (what the hell?) would also cost more, as well as being just plain stupid and wrong. Condoms are not flawless; if you'd screw some random, untested hooker just because you've got a condom you probably deserve drug-resistant clap.

Color quality is almost identical, the D300 seems sharper (at Standard settings) even though its 12MP not 6, However the much more accurate AWB, and faster AF, and FPS, and quick access controls on the back of the camera. Makes the D300 a hell of a steal.

The D200 felt like a handicap compared to the color quality I got with the D50, however the D300 now feels superior in every way.

I'm still going to keep the D200 as a backup, and sell the D50, however if I didn't shoot sports and nightlife was still my primary focus, the D50 would stay as my backup.

>color quality

Could you elaborate and/or give examples?

on phone hence no tripcode.
color quality = close to true to life colors, the d200 everythi looks faded and low contrast, the d50 and d300 give you a richer color set wit out blowing the saturation and color range. i would show pics but on my phone here....
