I am getting "the tank" (the internet tells me that this is the chosen nickname) from my brother, who got it in our grandfathers house. It is used, but in wonderful condition. I found that the old mercury batteries are considered environmentally dangerous,so I looked up alternatives. I found that you can use another common classic battery (forgot the name) used in the XE-7 with an O-ring for an ensured fit. Is this a good choice?

Look around for the thread about the guy buying a Canonet QL17 GIII. Has more information about a replacement battery that I'm too lazy to copypasta.

I have the SRT-201 minolta. It was my mom's first camera, and she bought it used. She used it everywhere, for a long time. She gave it to me, I used it everywhere, for a while now. Still works PERFECTLY (all speeds + self timer = ok)

You won't be disappointed (especially how cheap minolta MD/MC glass is nowadays). Have fun!

I also have SRT101 - was given to my by my friend who wasn't using it.... Took LOTS of pics of my friends band while learning how to use it (never had a SLR before).

Glass is SUPER cheap and you WILL have fun with it.

Pic taken with the '101 / processed - neg scanned at 1hr place in Wegman's grocery store.
In the original-sized pic you can see the bumps in his thumb as if you were going to take a fingerprint.
