Lol I got a sweeeeet deal on an IR modified D70
$400 USD for it, and its only taken 801 shots (Before I got a hold of it)

Just testing it out today with my also new Sigma 15mm f2.8 diag fisheye.

By the weekend i'll actually take it out and run around with it, but DAMN is it nice to not have to use ISO 1600 and fucking slow ass shutter speeds etc. Its also nice to have 3 DSLR's, and one Film SLR that takes the same lenses (15mm full frame is pretty kickass)

IR + fisheye = too many effects in one picture :)

Um, how did you get the IR effect?

or just buy an IR filter

An IR-modified camera is vastly superior to an unmodified one with an IR filter since it needs exposures about 1000 times shorter.
It's also much more expensive unless you're lucky like the OP.

wouldn't the CCD on a modified camera weaker?
I mean even with ir filter you can ruin a CCD for example if you shine a laser directly in it.
without IR filter, wouldn't the sun and its reflexion become potentially dangerous for the CCD sensor?

An IR-modified camera doesn't takes in more IR light, but less visible and UV light, so I don't think it's a big problem unless you point the camera directly at the sun. (The sun is potentially dangerous even with the visible light filter in place if you use some big-ass telephoto lenses)

Well it removes the plate in front of the sensor that previously blocked wavelengths beyond 720nm. So it would be more sensitive I suppose.
Personally I'm not worried, I've heard of lots of people with Modified DSLR's and they haven't had any issues.

I find I take more pictures than most people though (especially whoever sold me the camera, lol 801 pictures I do on a weekend)

Heres another snap from yesterday when I first got the cam, Didn't bother editing this one at all. Tonight if lighting is good I will hit up some of my favorite photo spots (Lots of trees)

I can't see your infrared rays ø_Ø, post the image

Of course you can't see it. You don't have the right filter.

i dont understand? whats the point in IR?

Looks neat.

What's the point of any effect in photography?

I suppose it just depends on what you want to get from photography.

If you want to be shit then HDR and IR all you want. Do it till the cows come home.
