not too bad!
how long did the photoshop process take and how many photos does this image consist of?

i would suggest fixing the middle of the picture a bit

I tried this other day using what someone on /p/ linked, but it just came out severely cropped (it was some plug-in for Photoshop). It just kept the original image dimensions (which was very wide considering it was a pan) taking out most of the top and bottom of the planet thing.

aside from the black hole in the middle, quite nice!

What is this style of photograph called? "Spaceball?"

Can someone explain (or link me to a page which explains) the technique for making these?

click the link for spherical panorama. the escheresque stuff is really cool too, and it contains a link to what he calls recursive chessboard which is really badass.

whoa op here been gone a while there is such a simpler way of doing this without other plugins
make your 360° pano
use ptgui
open photoshop
compress the file size to make it equal say 2000x2000
filter>distort>polar coordinates
?????
profit

There is a super simple tutorial for doing this in photoshop. I dont have any landscape pans of my own to use but Ive been doing it with picture found online and I got the hang of it really quickly. You can make one in just a minute or two.

Its been fun also playing around with group shots of people or shits that aren't very wide. Have gotten some fun results, like this one I made using some items on my shelf.

I prefer shits that aren't very wide, as they come out much more easily than wide shits.

I made one too. Lighting wasn't exactly ideal but I think it turned out okay for my first attempt.
