Hi. Anonymous
I'm playing with large format. This picture is taken with a Graflex Crown and iso 100 Chinese Lucky film.

I've greatly reduced the detail in order to post it.

I'm open to suggestions on film handling as I get a lot of dust and spots from using my Epson Perfection.

Medium format is awesome, but dust and stuff is pretty much stuff you "just have to deal with." I recommend getting a can of compressed air (like to clean out your keyboard) and blowing off your film and scanner before scanning. It won't get rid of all of it, but it helps a whole lot.

So a 4 by 5 inch negative is medium format? I thought it was large format(albeit, the smallest large format)?

I used Fuji NPS(?) for this one. I took it while enjoying the sakura along the tidal basin. Oh look! There's Jefferson!

thats nifty, I like the structure of the house, and the angle to show the structure of the house, and the b3w to bring out the contrast of the structure of the house. Cool.

No, you're right. 4x5 is large format. Medium format's pretty much just 120/220 (and other older discontinued film types around the same size)

You can still get 120/220. What's hard to get is 127, 620, 828, 110 film.

Yep, there's still a niche for b&w. I have a long night exposure that really stands out compared to an equivalent color one.

Yes. That's what I was saying. 120/220 isn't the only medium format film, but it's the only one left.

(Also, 110 isn't medium format or particularly hard to acquire. It's smaller than 35mm and and pretty easy to come by if you really need it)

Here's the picture. It's taken with a Mamiya 645 with a 30 second exposure at f/16. If it were in color, it wouldn't be as dramatic.
