Right eye or left eye? Anonymous
You're supposed to look with your right eye but anyone else use their left eye?

I know I do. ;_;

Am I doing it wrong?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
People are right-eyed or left-eyed just like they're right-handed or left-handed.

Use the eye that works better.

Why should he? Not like he'll get any other offers anytime soon.

I don't use cameras much but I spend a lot of time looking through magnifiers and optical peices for the type of labwork I do.

I would strongly recommend keeping both eyes open and learning to ignore what you don't need to see. It really does help, especially if you're like me and have to stare through lenses and equipment settings all day.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Also, I use my left eye. Had to actually go grab my camera to check on that. The only time I look through the viewfinder with my right eye is if it's physically impossible for me to use my left due to a weird angle, or if I'm shooting with both eyes open (which I do sometimes for things like sporting events where I need to be able to see what's about to zip into the frame and don't want to miss something cool from shutter blackout. This is why people spend bajillions of dollars on Leicas)

I can't see from my left eye ;_;

I look out with my left eye.

My right eye has worse vision than my left--therefore...yeah.

if i use my left eye, my nose hits the fourway button and changes the af point ;_;

Right. My right eye has this slightly odd vision, the viewfinder shades off the irritating reflections. One could say that my camera replaces part of the broken eye. Also, nose over 9000.
>> pskaught
point at something, now close an eye. which eye makes it look like your finger is actually pointing at the thing you're pointing at?
done.

I was also taught in filllmmmmm schooool that the right eye is the superior eye. since that is how all the motion picture cameras are built. who knows, just do the pointing thing.

don't buy the extender, thats gay. just get lasik.

If I take landscape orianted photos, I use my left eye. But if potraits, I use my right eye. And I don't close my other eye when I'm photographing.

And I keep my both eyes open becaue the camera is always covering my whole face (or at least as much it can).

I tried this with my both hands. Left hand chooses left eye, and right hand chooses right eye. Or vice versa.

And a bit off topic, does anyone know is it possible to look left with left eye, and to right with right eye?
And if yes, how do I train myself to do it?

Have you had lasik type treatment? I've considered it, but the risks seem to great.

You best be joking, nigga. No it isn't and it is a retarded thing to ask.

No, I wasn't joking. And because you seem to be so sure about it can't be possible, could you please explain me why?

I saw a video of a girl who could move both eyes independently. Pretty amazing, and proves that it's possible. As for training to do it, I have no clue.

Are you sure she wasn't just creatively crossing her eyes? I.e., sort of moving and crossing her eyes at the same time so one stands still and the other looks inwards? I don't think human eyes are physically set up such that it's possible to look in different directions.
>> Blackadder !!bSWRwu/NqzQ
As far as I know the eyes are linked so that your binocular vision works properly. Part of us being predator types. I know some can cross their eyes and so on, but it's not the same thing as what you'll see a chameleon do.

I knew a couple of folk over the years that have had treatment for squints and there's the condition "wall eye". We seem to be made and best suited to having our eyes work properly.

Why on Earth are you asking about such a strange thing?
>> Anonymous
i know this is off topic and all, but its interesting nonetheless. I have severe astigmatism in my eyes (one being very short sighted, the other very long), which has left me with some odd "abilities" if you will.

When driving, i can be watching the road ahead, whilst watching which station the radio is on, and adjusting it.

So it is possible to do, but its very hard to do it consciously, and therfore hard to train.

I was asking about this eye thing because I can easily disfocus things if I want to, like AC doubted this one girl can do.
So the next step would have been obviously train my eyes to do different things separetly.

But for my part we can rail this topic back on the tracks.

Funny thing. When I look at something and point, I see two fingers pointing and get confused. My vision (or mind) is actually close to balanced. But I am also easily ambidextrous in many activities as well as able to easily read text laid out forward backward or mirrored. Like right-handedness, your eye preference depends on which side of your brain you use. Lefties also tend to be much more visual/cue oriented than linear oriented.
