+1

I use a Sling Shot 300AW.

Works quite well and the all weather cover thing's saved my gear more than a few times from sand and rain.

Hm. My main concern with backpack-style bags is that they're cumbersome for quick lens changes and such like. This looks like it would be a good compromise.

yeh i nwas either thinking this one or the slingshot.. which is a one shoulder bag.. but my problem is that i climb waterfalls and get into akward crevaces n stuff and ive had ne shoulder bags that swing round to the front.. and id rather be sure that its not gona move.. at all so i dont damage anything,, lol

Does the single strap start to weigh/hurt your shoulder though?

Lowepro claims the backpack-style carrying mode puts less stress on either one shoulder than any other shoulder bag. If you have only one body it should be fine, you can always use extra harness straps if you want to make it more backpack-like.

I'm personally leaning towards getting a Fastpack 250 but only because I like to lug around a laptop and don't care about weatherproofing. If OP doesn't need the laptop pocket the Slingshot is moar bang for less bux.

na thats the main reason i like it too i have a LG LT20. (tablet pc) its about 13" so it will fit nicely and i take my camera and laptop to my bfs every weekend.. in seperate bags so it would be ideal and give me only the need for one bag ^_^

there's another strap on the slingshot so that it doesn't mive and get in the way while you're moving
(the smaller one on the pic)

also : i forgot my gear under the direct light of the sun (in malta last summer, for like 4 hours) in the car, i was like omg my lenses, my lcd screen ans stuff, i'm fuxed...
the inside of the bag was fresh while the outside was burning like hell...

for hiking and bushwaking or even a bike ride...where do you put your water and small snacks? platypushydration.com camelbak.com Why cant anyone make a pack with a camera and water supply...i have to choose between a day pack with enough water or take my camera stuff :(

on the 300 the hip straps take a significant load off the shoulder.

I wouldn't go on a week trek with it, but for a day or two it's perfect. Light weight, has the rain cover, pretty spacious, and you can get the camera in/out very very quickly.

while i agree that Pelican makes the absolute best cases out there, OP wants something to carry his gear in in the field.

Anybody got suggestions for small camera bags (DSLR + 1 lens on body + 1 other lens + 1 flash) that don't LOOK like camera bags?

Maybe just buying a padded insert or something?

Just shop around for a cheap small backpack and stitch in some dividers and padding... easy as hell.
