Additionally, you've cut off the bottom of your main subject. If you're going to cut off part of it, it should be because you're focusing the whole frame on one specific part of it--as it is, it just looks like you did it by accident or because you weren't really sure what you were taking a picture of.
You may have to get down in the filthy water. This is unavoidable. Invest in some boots.
