Easy, you make a 360 degree panorama, it has to be perfect or it doesnt work, you flip it upside down then use the polar thingy.

i think he uses some other radial distortion grid cuz the outer parts are massive, and it gets compressed as it moves towards the middle. also, he has a closed, sky thats in proportion, but the horizon is bent in a circle.
