Hey, sorry if this topic is inappropriate for the board but I figured this is the best place to ask for advice.

I wanted to preserve the illustrations in one my books (Scary Stories, heavy usage by the children) and I know photographs will invariably be worse than scans but my digital camera is the best I have. Any advice specific to my purposes?

The picture is the Trinity College Library at Dublin if you were wondering. Not my picture, just the closest related I have.

The only advice I can give concerning this is: Use a tripod, test different light setups to see what gives you the best results, and don't let the children use the book anymore.

From Israel with Win. For the "simple copy technique," just leave the book open where the red one is. The high-volume is obvious.

I've tried this, just for kicks, because I have a scanner and I've no need to sneak into offices and quickly copy documents with a camera. It works great. If you need a better scan, just post in the thread; I check /p/ often.

Oh, and you might just take the book to one of those photo scanning kiosks they have in chain pharmacies and the like.
