So, /p/, another "what should I buy, lol" thread.

I recently got a D200 to replace my D40 (good starter camera by any means), and I'm selling it to a friend. With it, I'm including the 18-55mm that came with it since I can't really, you know, stick him without a lens. Anyway, here's the deal; should I buy another 18-55mm to replace it for me (can't really go without a wide angle-ish lens for too long) or go for the 18-70mm? The build quality on the 18-70mm is better, and I like the little extra reach, but is it worth the jump in price?

tl;dr: 18-55mm or 18-70mm or your suggestion

Haha. I don't really have ~$1500 to drop on a single lens... :P

Also, the 30/50 suggestion, I do plan on buying the 50mm 1.4 soon. I already own the 1.8, but I'm starting to get annoyed at the sharpness when fully open. I've been looking at comparisons between the two (1.4 and 1.8) and the 1.4 is sharper at most apertures up to 5.6, so yeah. I still would rather like a zoom for the wide angle side.

Tokina 17/3.5 or Nikkor 20/2.8.

Both very good lenses.

Also, unless you need the extra stop, consider getting an AI or AI-S 28/2.0 Nikkor. Very nice lens.

Get the 18-70 for a walk around zoom, the 50 1.4 for portraits, and the 30 1.4 if you need an indoor no-flash lens.

Buy an SB-600 and make a bounce card before any other primes.
