haven't posted in a while so i thought i would post up some recent photos just to show i'm not dead
i'm starting to get a little annoyed with the 28mm f/1.8- it has notoriously bad cro-mabs and my copy has a slight tendency to back focus
i wish i could afford a 5D so i could use my delicious 50mm f/1.4 as a normal ;_;
no postprocessing on these shots other than white balance adjustment and cromab correction (lol)

Is this the canon 28/1.8? Because that lens has more cro-mabs the more you stop down.

Cute girl, but I don't like snapshots. Without the girl, and with an ugly guy, the shots are shit. That should be your litmus test.

well-composed, lit, etc

two words: FILL FLASH
>>279479
possibly true but I can't see far enough past the girl to be objective :/

f/2 @ 1/1600

If he would have used fill flash, then his sync speed would have knocked him down to around f/8

Better to use a reflector so that he can keep the borkah

hm yeah now that i look at it,>>279473definitely could have benefitted from fill flash, it's just that i am somewhat biased against using fill flash
i like the way>>279472looks as it is though, i disagree on fill flash for that one

bump for more critique

Find a clean spot of fence (where there is no bar behind here waist)
Take shot at more of a perpendicular angle to get more of it out of focus
Fill flash if possible
Otherwise it's nicely done, maybe darken the background so it's not ridiculously bright

>>279555
ok thanks i will try these, i wish i had had my 580EX with me so i could have done fill flash (with high speed sync)
>> hekrob !NpuBFNCrvo
second bump

Face is blurry, your upclose wideangle is showing, hair in her face. Good even lighting, though.
>>279472
Watch out for blowing the highlights and dark deep shadows--try using a diffuser over her and opposite from you. Try a tighter crop too, seems like too much empty space above here.
>>279473
Clothes of hers in background, same thing about shadow/highlight, something about the pose seems wierd, can't ut my finger on it. Shorter DoF would've helped.

I only like the first one.. the rest are really bleh.
She looks like a guy with long hair who likes to read old books in all the other photos.

Funny thing is that, once I picked up a 5d, I bought an 85mm 1.8 because i missed my 50mm on crop.

like i said, the 28mm tends to backfocus a bit which can be a pain, you can really tell in the first shot
