The colors are very nice. There isn't anything really going on in the second one but I do like the first one.

Again, dull colours! They don't suit this photo, especially since she's looking happy. The background looks good as it is though.

No thanks, I loathe that place. I'm just trying to do a new thing every day this week to become ... better versed at Photoshop. I'm sorry you don't like the effect, I agree with you that it's unnecessary too.

nah, i kid i kid

i like them

hey cheesecake
from my point of view your post processing is pretty good on these photos
the vintage feel comes across quite nicely

my favorite ones:
>>143286
>>143319
very good!

the others are...... too snapshot like
you're getting better with every post though, which is great
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
reminds me of ISO 400 color negative film.

good job keeping them consistant, thats the most difficult thing for me to do. But I don't do much editing most of the time anyway.

anyway keep it up
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
>>143391
A little trick on consistancy....
(for everyone also)
This is I do for batch editing when I want to go for the same feel, but the images differ greatly in brightness and contrast.
I open the first image and set it to a balanced contrast with curves. Then I start recording my steps.
Once complete, I open the next image and all I need to do is bring it to the exact same balance as the previous image with curves. For the rest I just hit 'play'!
Saves a lot of time. (I rarely do this though, since I prefer unique feels for different images)

i could have used that f/1.8 tonight when i tried to pull this off.
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>143395
ahh, sneaky.
I have very few actions saved
(One for Infrared, one for lazy MX days)
might have to actually save some. Then again I rarely step outside of "Contrast, Color Balance, Saturation, Sharpness"

OP: I promised you more detailed critiques in your last two threads are procrastinated on them. So her'es sort of what I was going to say, combined with stuff from this.

First of all, go back to how you were being subtle with your shots. There's too many flashy images running around that rely entirely on cool, obvious, "look at me" effects. I really liked how you used very subtle post-processing technqiues to give your photographs a nice, quiet, intimate feel. Go back to that. (I understand you're doing this to get a feel for Photoshop; that's fine. I'm just impressing on you what really stood out about your work- not just "o hai here's a girl" or "o hai look baroque photoshop" but the sort of subtle technical accentuation.)

What you could improve on- it's obvious you know these subjects. Work that emotional intimacy into your photographs. Don't pose them, just carry your camera with you when you're spending time with them, and catch their natural expressions.

You're doing well keeping on as you are. Keep doing it until you have it down perfectly. Study great photogrphers' and other great visual artists' work. The website of Magnum Photos is great for this. Go to magnumphotos.com. Click around.

or if this one focused on her left eye(closer to the camera) and left the right eye blurry, it'd be pretty nice as well

OK, looks like something else, then. I have no idea where Port Orange is. The place I was thinking of is in Cleveland.
