Opinions on Panasonic G1 (On paper so to speak since it's not available for sale yet)?

gimme that 7-14 lens, then we'll talk

Assuming everything pans out (read: it's not a Slowpoke DP-1 or something like that), it's going to be a great camera, and I'm getting one as soon as M-mount adapters and positive reviews come along.

Too big and bulky. Olympus has a u4/3 in development that's a lot closer to what I want, though.

G1 is as big as E420. No advantage here.
Now Olympus prototype looks sexy.

EVF = instant failure

it's probably going to be $500 anyway, get a real dslr instead of this sorry excuse

Explain how the EVF is instant fail.

G1's EVF is almost as big as an OVF on a full-frame SLR (0.7x), it's brighter in low light, it's probably sharper than your vision. The only problem is lag, but they seem to have mostly fixed it too.

And yes, the G1 is going to be $500, since it's positioned right between $500 high-end point-and-shoots and $500 lowest-end DSLRs.

the G1 is a failure

if it had some 720p/1080p recording mode for the same price, fuck yeah bring it on

but they had to make a separate model for it

the old school concept is fine, not this
