That's not a nice photo.

Poor crop.
Poor figure/ground composition.
Good subject & exposure.

I give this photo a solid B.

Ansell Adams, dilletante.

he can snap a pile of rocks that shows up in the Getty next to Rodin. i can snap the same rocks and get a waste of time.

you are in the same boat. take some of the classic snaps and work to understand with the originals were artists and you are an animated sack of strawhberry jam with an expensive toy.

also, a high contrast washout does not equal interesting. i bet you cropped that image out of a bigger, even more uninteresting photo.

i'd rather eat a shit sandwich that look at that photo twice.

"you are an animated sack of strawhberry jam with an expensive toy."
Best quote I've ever heard. Anywhere.

Shitty photos and stuff by pskaught (omg lighting! lololo) get the most responses here because nobody likes to discuss anything, just troll.

To be fair, Pskaught is the closest thing to a lighting expert that /p/ has.
I wish he'd post more. Dude is very talented at what he does.

The exposure is perfect. I like the choice of black & white. Composition is the problem for me. The rocks at the bottom of the frame and the bright water (or whatever it is) at the top next to the rocks are the two most striking features constrast-wise yet they're at the extreme edges of the frame which makes them distracting and unsettling.
