A lady came into my workplace with a 30D and a 24-70 f/2.8L today. I noticed that it said "MADE IN GERMANY" in gold lettering around the outside of the extending part of the barrel, but I was under the impression that all Canon lenses were made in Japan...

Are you sure you weren't reading the side of a filter? Lots of filters made on Germany, Rodenstock, etc.

yes she did. she had a B+W filter on that thing, probably a 010 if you didn't notice it. Im looking at mine right now and it says "made in germany" in gold on it.

yeah i'm thinking it was a B+W filter too, my CPL says in Gold lettering
