YaFe (Yaounde Festival) during New Years night.

This is the natural amphitheater at Yaounde II University,
obviously well kept. The students that do graduate from tend to rip things up in Europe and Canada.

A depressing sight. Trans for non francophones: "Forbidden to urinate SVP; The wardens here will punish severely."

Literally my last picture in Cameroon before going to the airport. Left in the power lines for realistic effect.

I had a thin panorama of a similar shot, taken before having seen Vincent's general advice. Maybe I will post that later. I have many more shots I wanted to show, but that would fail the 6 pics requirement. Maybe 10 would have been better.

Great work, I really enjoyed them. Especially>>145484,>>145487, and>>145490

I can't quite understand what's written in>>145491though, why do they need to remind that urinating there is prohibited?

Awesome set! A great view of a city of a place I for the most part have never heard of. I don't mean that in any sort of negative sense.

The festival shot (#2) is great.

lol, at first I read internet
>> parshimers !y2fz.HIyUQ
very cool, i like>>145484and>>145491in particular.
the entire set gives me a feel of a very exotic place, quite different from what im used to

You're walking home and you need to relieve yourself. There's no restaurant to walk into, or even a public restroom. So you piss in the bushes, or against a nice wall.
>> angrylittleboy !wrJcGUHncE
It's a nice set, I especially liked>>145484

Didn't really like>>145490
but it's a personal bias.

I think 6 is just right. It forces you to edit better :)

I like #3, but it reeks of too much pp.
Fix the contrast.

OP here.
I am glad so of you like my shots, but as some said, old pics are weaksauce, so I'm going to go shoot my current city of residence.

Glad we could all take a break from the gear threads
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
Gotta deduct points for using old shots, but they're still great shots.

>>145484
Great shot, though a bit blurry. Would have been better if you'd closed down your aperture a bit to get a shutter speed higher than 1/200th.

>>145487
Also beautiful. But I think it would actually be better if you cropped out everything from the road up. It's kind of two good night pictures--one of the festival, one of the city--and I think combining them together in one frame makes the whole a bit less good. Less focused (metaphorically, not optically).

If you look at the shot full-size in a 1024x768 window, you can scroll up and down and see what I mean. Each half of the picture stands on its own pretty well.

>>145489
Eh. My least favorite of the set. I'm having a hard time explaining what I dislike about it, though. Maybe the fact that it's in black and white. Maybe that it just looks too big and empty with nothing in the shot to really grab me. Maybe the dark trees in the way. Dunno. But I just don't like it.

(Cont...)
>>145490
Needs less blur and, as you said, more face. But it's a good picture other than that. This and the first one give a great overall feel for the style of the city--kinda worn and earthy, but vibrant with activity and life.

(Or, less charitably, a slum, but an active slum)

>>145491
There is nothing I don't like about this shot. It is just a great work of photojournalism. And I love the implication that the owner of the wall is perfectly happy to have a bigass spraypainted message saying "DON'T PISS HERE" on his wall.

>>145493
I would like this a lot more cropped at around the haze line above the mountain. The power lines just kill it for me.

Cloning out the power lines would still leave a lot of empty blank space in the shot, but I think the moon up there is enough to hold it together (although in that case, I'd prefer if the moon were more to the side rather than smack dab in the center)

Really looking forward to another set with your current town.

I'll try to get my work recognized without getting a tripcode somehow.

1/6 is blurry because the Tamron 70-300 is simply not as sharp as I would like.

Since you like the mountain scape, I'll leave you with a quick pano. Sorry that you can see the seams.

nice set!
some of the photos kinda lack image quality.. (blurry, unclear) .. but the overall feel of all of the photos is nice.
it's great seeing so many people in /p/ doing this
