G9 compared to Olympus E-500 DSLR: G9 wins Anonymous
I did a comparison between my new Canon G9, and my Olympus E-500 DSLR, and posted the results:

It looks like I won't be using the E-500 much anymore.

The comparison is flawed in so many ways... anyone bitching about one photograph being more magenta than another needs to learn how to use ACR.

That said, they're both good cameras, and any camera with manual controls will give good results in daylight. I'd rather shoot with the G9 in a situation like this, but that's just because I'm a freak and prefer LCD screens to SLR viewfinders, especially ones like Olympus. Everybody else probably ought to go with the Olympus, unless they're doing street photography of more than just a building and want the quiet shutter.

Besides, you're only comparing image quality.
Go take a look at shutter lag. Then we'll talk.

copypasta from dpreview forums

where everyone thinks the g9 is the shit

>> I think the E-500 is just outclassed by a camera that has 50% more megapixels. I've shattered the myth that adding megapixels to small sensor cameras is a waste.

AHAHAHAHAHAA, let's see you use that g9 at iso higher than 200, WHERE ARE YOUR MEGAPIXELS NOW?

oh, wow, just looked at the forums again

"why g9 is much slower than DSLR?"

"Re: Slower in what way? I am curious too. I used a DSLR for years and see no difference. I like a slower pace maybe..."

what a bunch of fucking faggots

I dunno. The 4/3 system is pretty fail. I could certainly see it getting pwn3d by a G9.

G9 isn't that slow for a compact camera. It makes me RAGE only when I shoot raws, while my old Nikon 4300 made me RAGE all the time.

Half a stop more noise in 4/3 compared to Rebels = BAAAWW 4/3 SUX
2 stops more noise in G9 compared to 4/3 = LOL OK

Hypocrisy anyone?
