This pumpkin is actually green. It's not just the film having wacky colors.

The prints don't look nearly as saturated as the scans do. I think that is because the jerks running the photolab at the drugstore are bad at their job.

>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

I think it's just my scanner getting confused by the bright saturated reds and yellows and trying to auto white balance. I didn't do any color correction or postprocessing other than taking out a few negative pubes with the heal tool.
>> Anonymous
The color could be off if they loaded a new roll of paper and failed to run the condition test. This is unfortunately common.

Saturation is a different matter. Order the same print again, and if it looks the same, the easy remedy would be to just compensate before they print it.

One other thing to ask when the head tech is there, is to run your prints with any auto correction OFF. It works wonders for idiots (most of their customer base) but can fuck up anything you tweaked to perfection.

This is discouraging for me because I could just shoot some fuji reala, and drag the hue sliders in lightroom, and you couldn't tell the difference.

90% of people on /p/ wouldn't be able the difference. All in all, I couldn't be less interested in this film at rated speed. What I WOULD like to see is the performance at ISO 50. It would be interesting to see if it could an decent alternative to Ektachrome or Velvia. Otherwise, your shots are "Meh," and the "New Film!" announcement, is just another kind of meaningless gear faggotry.

Anyways, glad you own a film camera AC.

To be honest, I really dislike this film based. Yeah, it's saturated, but the color palette and tone curve are shit, especially compared to Velvia or Ektachrome or even most color neg films I've seen. They look like you took a file into ACR or whatever it is Gimp uses, gave it a perfectly linear tone curve and a bad white balance and just hit the saturation slider like the fist of the North Star.

>>290230
>Dates:

If you mean calendar dates, agreed.

>Spelling: You do it wrong (Its called English, due to it coming from England, you just fucked it up!!!)

English came from older versions of German, Latin, and French, chiefly. It evolved over time into its present form, based on local variations. Why aren't you speaking Anglo-Saxon German? You fucked it up.

>Anything to do with money: You do it wrong (who the fuck would lend money, that just isn't in the economy, then expect it to be paid back.... dumb yankie fucks)

This was a worldwide problem, including in Britain. It's stupid. Blame global finance capitalism.

>Gun Control: You do it wrong (You all have guns.. then go "HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN", "ITS A TRADGADYYY!!!" when someone goes and shoots a load of people....... You all have guns, they have a limited number of house hold applications.. fucking sweaty bastards"

Gun control just doesn't work. Criminals get them anyway. Other countries have school shootings.

What you're talking about is a far more deep cultural problem than HERP DURP MERKINS FAP TO THE SECOND AMENDMENT. So you're, comparatively, disadvantaging your own case that America sucks by blabbing on about gun control.

>History:

You're doing it wrong, as this answer and your language answer shows. No historical perspective at all. Both America and the USSR (really, you're calling the USSR "Russia?) were vital to winning the Second World War.

>Your a useless mass of land

The American continent as a whole is far from a "useless mass of land." It's big, eminently habitable in most places, with lots of good farmland and natural resources.

>but fail to realize you have little influence on anything but you own fat ass's

This is, unfortunately, jealous bawww incarnate.

TL;DR all societies fail and win to varying degrees. America is fine, with no less or more stupid, ingrained cultural fallacies than anywhere else. To the extent its culture is lesser than other countries, it's because the corporate media cock has been ravaging it for longer. I would like to point out that most other culture are readily and unfortunately tearing their asshole a-fucking-part to take it just as hard, if not harder.

Yeah, these shots. I meant to say that:

>To be honest, I really dislike this film based

but I didn't the whole sentence for some reason.

I doubt ac would mess with the tone curve on some shots intended to introduce /p/ to the film, though. And to be honest I don't really see a point, photographically, for this film. Commercially it's probably targeted at the crowd who thinks saturation = instaart and film = instaart but who CBA to take their shit anywhere but their drugstore. Anywhere that'll do a decent job of C41 will do E6, and there's plenty of great, saturated E6 films.

(For the record, here are my views:

>This is discouraging for me because I could just shoot some fuji reala, and drag the hue sliders in lightroom, and you couldn't tell the difference.
Or I could shoot with my digital and drag the saturation slider in ufraw. Which I do.

The reason I shoot film is because it's *fun*. Weird as it might be, it's the "Masturbate now and get your orgasm in the mail a week later" aspect of it. Instant gratification is nice, but sometimes it's also nice to delay your gratification. I play around with different films precisely because it's fun to see how they turn out.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
     File :-(, x)
>>290404
On a completely unrelated note, here is a way in which Ken Rockwell has pissed me off recently:

He has a new article up on his site about how film is better than digital, and one of the big reasons he gives is that with film, you get all of the texture because it doesn't lose any of it to noise reduction.

It pisses me off because if he'd just shoot in RAW like every other damn pro art photographer (and most amateur art photographers) out there, he could turn off noise reduction in the conversion.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
     File :-(, x)
>>290425
>>290436
I think the "not that vibrant" issue with the OP picture and a few others in this thread is due to my Rebel sucking at metering (or, if you're feeling less charitable, me sucking at metering with my Rebel) rather than the film itself. And I think some of the issues can be laid at the feet of my scanner (or, again, my failure at using my scanner properly).

Either way, pointless argument is pointless.

>Commercially it's probably targeted at the crowd who thinks saturation = instaart and film = instaart but who CBA to take their shit anywhere but their drugstore.
I'd say this pretty much nails it. The film market at this point is pretty much limited to luddites, the poor, and artfags, and this film suggests to me that Kodak has realized that. There's just not much of a market for film that looks "normal" anymore, which kinda sucks for a company who's spent all of its time up to this point singlemindedly working towards small grain and accurate color reproduction.

If they're smart, they'll start coming out with *really* wacky films. Like an ISO 100 that's grainy as shit, and color negative film that looks like it's been cross-processed right out of the box.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
     File :-(, x)

>Ken Rockwell flip flops more than a dozen politicians.
Which I wouldn't mind if not for the fact that (a) he always does it as if he's never thought any differently ever and (b) he insinuates that anyone who thinks any differently from him is a moron.

Like he was all "Full frame is stupid. 1.6x crop is and will always be better, and the larger sensor is just a marketing gimmick" in a previous article, and now he's all like "Full frame. Oh god yes, Full Frame. Fapfapfapfapfapfap" without even acknowledging the previous article. And he frequently brings up the "resolution doesn't matter" point while, at the same time, frequently bringing up the "Film is and always will be higher resolution than digital and that's why good photography magazines shoot on film" argument.

I've changed my opinions on things several times, but I cop to it. I admit I was a moron back when I didn't think SLRs were worth it. I admit I was a moron back when I thought that anyone shooting film in this day and age was a moron. By keeping these things in mind, I'm less likely to immediately jump to the assumption that someone else is dumb for not doing things the way I do, which I think makes me a better photographer and a better person. But I could be wrong about that too.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA
     File :-(, x)
Also, I really hate the stigma we've placed on politicians who change their minds. It's not flip-flopping if you get new information. Single-minded devotion to one point of view in the face of all contrary evidence is what leads to things like the Iraq War.

Anyway, this is my favorite shot from the roll, and signals the end of my posting spree. I might take>>290163's advice and shoot the next roll at 50 and see what happens.
