i need to buy a 35mm slr for a class, college not high school. and i dont know what kind i want. i was thinking Nikon f series like a f4, but i also like canon(have used canon dslrs in high school for photo, 10D) i have found a few Elan 7's. but i would like some advice. i will be using if for a long time, i love to develop film. my price range is close to $250 hopefuly less cus i have to pay for classes still.

AE-1, FM-10, K1000 and all the other cheap slrs with 50mm lens should be enough for you.

Dont spend more than $100 since there is probably no reason you would need F4.

Don't get anything 152121 mentioned, because everyone says they're good to start with, prices are very high. Get something like a Pentax ME Super or MX with a 50mm lens, and something wide if you like.

There's no need for an F4, unless you're only going to do studiowork. They're terrible for outside or undercover stuff.

I got an F3 body and standard 1.8 lens for about $225.
Sure, I may not have needed it, but I can still use it for years to come.
