Choose a subject more interesting than flower macros.

The color and lighting is dull, and the angle and composition makes it a very static image. Try a different angle, maybe get closer, wait for better light. Remember, flower shots desperately need something above and beyond to grab interest, and there's nothing really unique about this flower, or the shot.

it IS a decent picture. however it's more boring than a pile of ashes.

pictures of flowers are so common that they're not interesting. that doesn't mean they can't be pretty, just not exactly groundbreaking.

you've created something not ugly and not wrong but something PLAIN to be sure. even a beginner should go farther than flowers.
