Seems like a better place than /b/ or stopmotionanimation.com to ask this question.

I need a dSLR camera for a stop motion movie ive finally cracked down to making. After looking at tons of dslr cameras, Im not sure which is the best, theres just too many...

So the question is...What are some of the better/best entry lvl
DSLRs out there?

Maybe I forgot to mention stopmotionanimation.com are hardcore intent on using webcams and non manual focusing face capturing type cameras...they werent much help when I asked them this same question.

Im not too keen on DSLRs or some of the steals that might be availible in that department,

All advice appreciated

Why would a DSLR be a bad choice for stop motion animation? Other than perhaps producing extremely large files, but you can batch process them to reduce the resolution to something more video-appropriate.

As for which camera, it doesn't matter. Just pick one that you like. Seriously.

No no no, its THE BEST choice, you can manually focus which is really good looking in a stop-mo movie...

You can manually focus an SLR, too. I do it every time I use one.

I fail to see why you're using a still camera for this.

A video camera has depth of field control as well and will churn out a video without processing your insanely large number of JPGs. And yes, you can do stop motion on video cameras.
