Not in the sense of not understanding it, but in the sense of not objecting to it. First, are you telling me that, say, Jim Nachtwey's shots of starving African babies are "beautiful?" They're true, they're aesthetically good art, but I wouldn't say they're beautiful. Second, it's a problematic quote to go by because things that seem beautiful at first glance often aren't at a deeper examination. So with the first reservation aside, I can see its truth, but it's not something I'd rely on.
