Pictured is (left to right) my 11-18 ultra wide, 100-300 zoom, 18-70 pos and a 56GN flash. Not pictured is the 50mm prime.

I dont have the money to go out n get a monopod but if im taking action photos i cant afford to be using that long exposure and the IS on my alpha is godlike (op pic is a .4" handheld).

Will check the weather, might have a look at a 55mm filter for my sigma the others have filters on them already (for clubbing!)

If you have a beanbag or something like it, that can act as a sort of ghetto monopod when you rest it on a wall or railing and then balance the camera/lens on it. Worth keeping in mind if you want something you can stick in a bag that costs peanuts or make yourself. They even sell overpriced beanbags for that now.

The 100-300 (close in for the action), the prime (wide aperture for a fast shutter speed in bad light) and the 11-18 (everything else mentioned) would be the order of importance in my eyes.

If the wind is getting up, then it might be worth changing the lenses while the whole kit is inside a bag to shield them or avoiding it altogether if the dust is noticeable. The dust gets everywhere if you let it.

My sensor is already covered in shit as i havent cleaned it for months and Im always changing lenses in stupid places.

Im not to worried about the lack of monopod as Im used to handholding my camera and its quite a bit lighter than my rifle. If i had one of the all metal bodies then I would probably need a stand.

or also, it's time to get that FPS a workout, put you shooting mode on CONTINUS and just keep the shutter depressed on those action scenes.

If you're far enough away from the shoreline you'll be fine with salt, just give you lens and camera a wipe down with a slightly damp cloth to soak up anything that's actually there.

Well I'm off to bake pies now. I hope some of the ideas come in handy and you manage to get some shots to be proud of.
