hey /p/

I put up a picture of my friends eye yesterday, and I took another one today of a different friend. Only like 2 people responded to the other one, I was wondering what you guys think of it.

Canon 400D (Canon Rebel XTi)
with the kit lens, 18-55 mm

I'm trying to see how far I can push myself with this lens before getting another one. Is that a good idea or no?

Thanks man, I really appreciate that.

Why did you fake the pupil? It's really obvious and it makes the whole thing look like trash.

You need to listen to this advice:

I didn't fake the pupil, the original picture was blurry as hell (see picture on left) so I sharpened it in photoshop, I guess it came out kinda fake looking?

No, I just got home and decided to check what people were saying.

I can't believe no one has said anything about that extremely annoying reflection in the eye. Dude, was he facing a window? For fuck's sake, try again with some softer lighting.

not really, but it is always good to run pictures taken with a soft lens through a bit of unsharp mask.
not using it AT ALL in any instance is plain silly
we don't all own 2000 dollar lenses

unsharp mask

it makes things more in focus

it's for the pros

>>186705
understating.. When you scale down an immage you *must* use sharpening. Anything else looks like shit.

Then why the fuck is there no reflection in the pupil (where there should be the clearest reflection)?

Uh dude are you fucking stupid?
Pupils don't show reflection because any and all light that goes to them is absorbed.

>Uh dude are you fucking stupid?
Oh, the irony.

The reflection on the eye is on exterior surface of the cornea, not the iris. That there is light entering the pupil and that we do not get a reflection off of the retina is totally moot. The iris is not involved in reflections/catchlights. Period.

The only reason you really don't see reflections over the pupil much is because in order for there to be a highlight over the pupil with this sort of composition the light source would essentially have to occupy the same space as the lens. An exception would be a ringlight, but scale of the catchlight re: the pupil varies with range.

There's a camera and cameraman blocking the light source. Besides, there is some reflection in the very left and top right of the pupil.
