I kind of like this shot
But not sure how to post process it, This is pretty much straight out of the camera, Colors are as WB was set.
Swapping red and blue came out looking weird, B+W i'm not sure if I want to max the contrast or not...

I was testing out the 18-55 on my IR camera, since I broke my 18-70 this is my replacement.

Truthfully the 18-55 is vastly superior already, Focus is accurate, its sharper, I had to MF my 18-70, this one I can be lazy (and much quicker).

not nearly as good as the first. The stroller in road makes the shot, otherwise it's just another IR shot.

Post the first with the second's post-processing.

that made me lol, but i agree the first shot does make win with the person. Although second shot is not bad I like it as well for me at least.

heres the channel swap and color balance (so the entire picture isn't blue tinged)

Vincent, would you happen to have a tutorial that you follow for Ir photography?

better as pink

I dunno, I like this one better than the first.

PINK IS SUPERIOR

prefer the second version

Hey Vincent, did you do your IR mod yourself or have a service (lifepixel, maxmax) do it for you?
>> Anonymous
Holy crap.
I absolutely LOVE the third one.

I would immediately hang that in my room.
The second one is very very very nice as well!

Bought the camera used (Already converted) off a guy who did the lifepixel mod.

Not really a tutorial but i'll outline the steps
JPG's
WB set off of grass or clouds
Channel mixer, Red channel R=0, G=0 B=100, Blue Channel R=100, G=0, B=0
Then Auto Color to see what photoshop thinks is the best balance (Usually low on reds, so I undo and do it manually)
I find it helps to visualize more what the picture should look like, after the color swap everything will be very blue.

RAW (Less WB range in CS3, or CS2, NX is ok, but I don't use it)
ACR menu
Red hue - 15, Green Hue - 30, Blue Hue + 35
WB = 2000 (Minimum) Tint usually -90
Then the rest is the same.

In both cases I usually have to beef up the contrast because IR's dynamic range isn't usually as high.

Hmm same problem I had with my 18-70 though

the right edge of all my shots are slightly soft, It dissapears slowly as you stop down though, but its definitely visible.

I wonder if the IR filter was a shoddy install...
