Hey all,I'm about to buy my first digital camera. I took the attached pic with a friend's Powershot A550 and it amused me enough that I decided to get my own camera.

I've narrowed it down between the Powershot A550 and the A560. I've read the reviews and comparisons and I'm convinced I need to spend the extra cash for the A560. Should I stop being cheap and pick up the 560 or settle for the 550, or is there a better choice?

I believe that the models that have 10 as their difference only have slightly different features. When I was buying my A520, I also looked at the A510 as well. In the end, I found out that both models contained the same sensor and the only difference as a change in megapixels. I'm not too sure about the A550 and A560 specifically. Assuming it's the same case, the only difference I see between your choices are widescreen videos and the size of the LCD screen.

Personally, I would buy the A550. Same sensor, optical zoom, megapixels. It's basically the same camera to me... unless of course you care about being able to shoot in ISO 1600 versus 800.

Thanks for the response. I bought the A560. I figured I'd treat myself, even if it wasn't much of a treat. I played with it for about a half hour this evening. I've got a lot to learn about everything, especially framing shots.
