Something is in focus, much is out of focus.
Care to elaborate what you took picture of?

Needs more DoF

Kinda like, but I'd crop out some of the pool at the bottom...

more DoF? I really need a macro, it's taken with the kit lens.

Hm maybe, but wouldn't cropping the bottom off ruin the golden rule effect? I tried placing the three slides at about that point...
I'm guessing it didn't work.

Macro won't help you with increasing your depth of field. The opposite, if anything. You just need to stop down more, which you can certainly do with your kit lens.

well yeah, I guess. I was thinking macro = low aperture.

I don't think I can do any lower that that on my kit lens, it's 3.8 or 4.0, that's the max A on that lens.

But apart from focal range and crop, is there any good advice to be had?

increasing your DoF means you make your aperture smaller. bigger number.

yeah yeah nitpicker, by low aperture I meant low number = bigger hole = smaller DoF. English isn't my native language and I was posting out of my ass.

Go back to dA, stupid.

You will never get any response on DA. Their community is god awful.

I honestly can't say I like this photo very much. It has place the eye wants to go to.

i think cropping most of the pool out would balance the image and help create a 'story'. the nature of waterslides is they start off at a high point and end up right at the bottom, hence the cropping the poll would place the opening of the slides right down the bottom where your eyes will eventually be led.

just my two cents
