Uber Anonymous
Soup /p/eople?
So i'm looking at different sites that would be good for displaying my portfolio. I've been a member of Deviantart for a year and a half now and god their community is fucking awful.

It's like when I want them to critique something, they'll be like "nice pic lol" etc. I want a place basically where I can display my work and get fucking demolished with criticism pointing out what should be done etc.

Anyways, so back to what I was saying, Uber looks decent. Kind of like deviantart but not and more of like a mauch bettar myspace for photos.

tl;dr - Anyone have an Uber account? If so how is it?

I don't know about Uber, but what is your Deviantart link? I'll give feedback. ;]

Why don't you create your own website? That way you can choose an appropriate design as well.
Even if it's just some free blog software you "create" it with, it's your own.

I used to have a personal site but I like the community sites such as these as it's hard to get people to critique your stuff when it's your own site.

On a community site, that's the whole point of it.

That's the biggest problem I have with DA too. Their community sucks, and 99.9% of them are incapable of offering any kind of meaningful feedback.

Conceptart.org's forum had a photography section last time I was there, and they offered some great critique on a bunch of photos I posted. Having said that, I just checked and it seems that their photography section has been replaced by an entirely separate forum. The CA forum links to the new site, so I'm assuming it's run by the same people.

I'll probably check it out since they were helpful the last time.

Yeah I saw that recently, the sheer size and amount of subforums is intimidating. That and knowing the kind of quality they usually have for concept art.

Well almost the entire forum is for CG art, not photography, so if you ignore it all but the photography parts it isn't all that big.

You're right about the high standards of the site, but that was what made me visit there in the first place. Like OP, I don't want some half-assed critique, I want someone to tell it like it is without trying to avoid hurting my feelings.

My photos aren't all that amazing, but they seemed to like them, so they might not be as harsh as they have a reputation for being. I imagine the attitude of the person being critiqued probably makes a big difference to them.

Also, the http://www.photographymob.org/forums/ is run by conceptart.org since my profile for CA works with this new one.
