good night, sweet prince. fence !!POey2hdozCZ
i finally killed my a80. i've dropped it before, but this time it landed at just the right angle on the lens.

now i need to figure out what i'm going to replace it with. oh, and if it's possible for me to replace the lens on my a80 with, say, an f mount.

Ooo, ouch. Wrist strap, motherfucker, do you speak it?

I've got a nice big dent in my A95's top plate from an unfortunate incident when I was trying to juggle the camera and my polarizing filter after taking a shot. The shutter button has been a little bit wonky ever since then, too, but not really enough to make it unusable. Oh, and I had to reglue the top plate down a few months after the drop since it popped open. The superglue has been holding it nice and stable for the last two years, though.

hah. my girlfriend told me the exact same thing. i think it was payback for all the times i've chided her for not using her neckstrap. oh well.

i was actually thinking about picking up a fujifilm f-series. they're supposed to have terrific sensors, or at least the f31fd and f30fd did. not trying to turn this into a what-camera-do-i-buy thread, though.

you guys post some pics of your broken cameras. we'll make a little memorial in honor of bygone shutters.

here's my very first digital camera, a nikon coolpix 3100. it got squished when i was hit by a car on my bike.

a friend of mine had a camera like that. She did the same thing, and the lens did just that. She thought it was scrapped, so I firmly pushed the telescoped lens to the opposite way of the bend while pulling slightly, and it worked fine. I thnk that bitch still has that fucking camera.

MAKE EVERY SHOT, A POWERSHOT!

My A85 was in pristine condition but had a buyer for 200$, couldn't pass that up.

Honestly, buying anything other than one of the Canons that work with CHDK is foolish.

RAW support on a P&S for less than $200 = epic win.

We've been over this before. While it unlocks some good features, it's hardly 'epic win'.

Giving you RAW doesn't magically fix your pictures. White balance, exposure, sure. It's still trash in low light or motion.
>> fence !!POey2hdozCZ
some of the stuff it unlocks is pretty cool, like high speed flash sync, etc etc. but by and large, it just unlocks features that i would use a better camera for anyway.

and am i the only one who breaks cameras around here? i'm starting to feel ashamed.

Certainly. But given that P&S's are so bad at white balance and exposure, especially the fine tuning of such, it's nice to have RAW there to save your shots. The other features of CHDK are nice as well, as fence pointed out.

You can get an A570 IS for $140 from newegg right now. I would take that over any $300-400 P&S in an instant.

RAW allows you to use NeatImage or stuff like that on the image straight from the sensor. And that almost doubles the maximum usable sensitivity because in-camera noise filters suck donkey balls.

However, not everyone can get other better cameras that can do flash sync up to 1/64000, motion detection, etc.

fag it also happened to my ixus 330

i just put it back in place and it works

canon makes fucking strong cameras

for once, anonymous delivers. it took a fair amount of leverage, but i popped (which was a strange sound, by the way) the lens back into place. the casing is cracked, but everything still works. fuck yeah!

Hooray! A happy ending!

Does it still focus correctly and everything?
