/p/ in a nutshell, as dictated by it's most militant morons. Photo related 1) shallow DOF good 2) shallower DOF better 3) more megapixels good 4) many more better 5) If something is out of reach financially (ie Leica M8) it must suck, that prevents /p/eons from feeling bad because they either 1) still live in mommy's basement or 2) studied art or history in school and it didn't pan out. 6)if the shot is brillant, but the subject is not beautiful, the shot sucks 7) showing grain or noise in a picture is like displaying your dirty underwear 8) lenses comparison using <,>,= are always especially welcome especially when you've never tried most of the lenses 9) arcane stuff like M42, always outstrips anything else, in any class. This is the corollary of #5. Idiots on /p/ can both find and afford something so it must be good. 10) No shot taken with a Sony camera is good. 11) Lots of talk about medium format but most idiots here have never even handled a MF camera 12) A bit of talk of LF cameras but almost no one here has ever handled one. 13) the bigger the tripfag, the great the person likes the sound of his own voice, and the more prone to spouting misinformation. 14) At any one time, there has to be at least 3 idiotic threads "Should I buy a D40?" 15) 1/3's rule, rules 16) Make "interesting shots" by following directions in Time-Life photography books. 17) don't admit it, but read Ken Rockwell's stuff 18) Think Philip-Lorca diCorcia or some other fraud, is a genius 19) Bigger is always better (Nikon 1.4 HAS to be sharper, than 1.8 - it ain't) 20) Sharpness is the most important aspect of any shot, even if it's a headshot or portrait. 21) Photoshop post-manipulation takes care of any lack of talent as a lensman.
