So, color spaces and the brick wall.

I shoot with a K200D, and I use Aperture for my workflow. I shoot in RAW (DNG format), and use the SRGB colorspace. I usually export my pictures in JPEG and SRGB as well, for posting to the interwebs.

Using DA, I'm running into an issue where I cannot get the colors to match what I have on my computer. The JPEG and the RAW images are identical on my machine, but when that same JPEG is posted to the internet, I get a washy color. I've quadruple-checked to make sure I'm not shooting or processing in AdobeRGB, which I know can cause that to happen, and I'm not. What's more, in Safari and Firefox I get different levels of washyness. In Firefox the very vibrant parts of the colors get washed out, and in Safari, the tones almost change completely.

I'm trying to figure out what or where I'm going wrong and what I can do about it. I should be able to get the same picture I have on my computer to post on the interwebs if it's in the proper (SRGB) format.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

safari is color profile aware

firefox before 3.0 isn't

in conclusion, stop trying to make it match on the Internet

you'd think so, but no

every monitor is calibrated differently, then every manufacturer makes their own color profiles, then you have the OS trying to manage their own color profiles, then you have video cards trying to force their own color profiles

srgb will not look the same in america as it does in japan

Note: Color management in FireFox3 is off by default. TO ENABLE COLORMANAGEMENT: type about:config into the address bar. To turn it on, change the value of gfx.color_management.enabled to true and restart the Fire Fox browser. In addition to enabling color management in Firefox, you also should enter the name of the monitor profile - it's next to the enable/disable parameter in the parameters list that you get to by entering about:config in the address field.
