Folders and lightroom FTW

Why should that even affect you? Unless you're lumping all your files into one massive folder and not using a EXIF-intelligent sorting tool.

On the A100, you can just set the default folder prefix to 101 instead of 100 and so on. I do it often if I have one set that ends and another that begins on a card I haven't dumped yet.

I know but it did it automagically and then every time i turned it back on it created a new folder which was somewaht confusing/annoying.

Im only around 1.3k so far.

Why not just dump stuff into folders? My organization system:

[Relevent hard drive letter]:\New Folder (x)\[contents of memory card].

Works just fine.

Do you really go by 'New Folder (x)'?

I have all of my image directories named like 'YYYY-MM-DD.shortdesc' so they're organized by date and there's a reminder of what I took pictures of on that date.

or export with the files named Date-Series Number.jpg or something

Lightroom was meant to fix this problem

mc? As in Midnight Commander?
>> Anonymous
>>100073
Yep. I just sort by "date created" if I don't remember what folder I stuck a particular photograph in, and it works just like your system. That's for the raw files. The processed, final versions I keep all together in one folder.

>>100090
Yeah, I thought you said you used midnight commander or something similar to sort your photos once.

Ahh. No, tcsh (i.e., straight-up command line shell). mc is abomination.

For some reason I read that as Midget Commander. My version was far more interesting.

That would be pretty awesome.

AC: "Midget, I need you to find me all pictures I have of the Skylon tower."
Midget: "Sir, my name is Tony"
AC: "DON'T SASS ME, MIDGET! I AM YOUR COMMANDER!"
