I'm starting out on film and my friend is giving me a canon ae-1 with a bunch of lenses. Will this be pretty good /p/?

you bet!

Op here, whats the best way to develop film yourself? I have a scanner that takes in negatives, so i guess i just want to be able to "cure" the film or whatever it's called, then scan them in.

you open the film can in a dark place(most people use a light-tight bag called a changing bag, or a closet with duct tape put over the leaks), and while still in the dark, it gets put into a special can that you can take out in the light but pour chemicals into without opening. there's alot of guides online if you just do a quick google

B&W film is easy to develop at home with around $100 worth of supplies. Colour is quite a bit more difficult as the chemicals are more temperature-sensitive.

First, you gotta get a cool neck strap like this. (Pic is my dad's old AE-1.)

haha that's the second AE-1 i've seen with a funky strap

Those straps were quite common in the day. Most of the cameras didn't come with a strap, if it did come with one, it was usually quite thin.

Here's a Tamrac strap on my Bronica. You need the padding as the camera gets quite heavy after a while.

Here's my AE-1 with what I believe is the stock strap. Not very comfy.
