Minolta Maxxum 50 Anonymous
I received this Minolta Maxxum 50 from my uncle who is a photographer and I am hoping to start getting into photography. Is this a good beginner camera or should I start out with something else.

It's free. Therefore, it's a good beginner camera.

Yes, no.

sell it. It's not a very good beginners camera at all.

What you need is a Leica M8. It's easily the simplest camera to use.

OP, this post is sarcasm about the M8 being a great beginner's camera. It's a great camera that would actually probably be pretty good for a beginner starting out- provided that beginner was loaded. The camera starts just under $5,000, plus lenses that run into the thousands.

As for yours, I know nothing about film camera models that aren't legendary, so I can't help you.

Truth.

I don't know this particular Minolta camera but traditionally Minolta's have been middle-price range cameras used by a lot of amateur photographers - as yours is free then use it!!

Also its the photographer that sees and creates the photograph, any camera can then capture the image (but some some better than others). 30 years ago I started with a £70 Yashica 120 roll film camera and I sold many photographs created on that old camera before upgrading to a better camera.
