that VX in your picture is so old that you might be able to find it for just over $1000... i liked working with it, but i dont own one. im working on getting the HRD-FX1 which is alot like that VX but its high def.

but if you are still sticking to $800 you might want to give us an idea of whats important to you. because if you dont want HD, you can get a much higher quality camera(minus video quality). do you need mic inputs, or is the camera mic okay? tings like that.

I recently bought a Canon HV20 HDV camera and like it quite a lot. It's a little more than $800 (I paid $975), but seemed to be one of the better deals in that price range. It's a bit on the flimsy side, but the video quality is excellent, the battery life is very good, and it has a decent selection of manual controls. I've been very happy with it thus far.

camera mic is okay for me, and I guess I could spend more I would just have to wait for the next pay check (Not a problem). All I really want is good video and audio. I am not looking for Extrem High quality but higher is always nicer ^_^ Battery life I could care less about but yeah, would like screen but eye viewer is okay too... I don't have much more. Thanks for the suggestion 56788!

I've looked into retrofitting older 3ccd broadcast cameras with the d8 walkmans. The great thing about d8 is that it's just DV on an 8mm cartridge. I really wish it took off over DV on minidv, it's a better cartridge.
