Due to crop factor, I have no lens wider than 27mm.
I kind of feel crippled through this because now I can't take artsy pictures. And no, I can't afford a new lense.

Irony. You are a moron. Don't blame your inability to read on others.

For quite some time, 28mm was the widest lens in existence. People took plenty of art photographs.

Canon's 10mm is odd because the FOV is so wide, but all the lines are still straight.

That's called being well-corrected.

Man if you can't compose well with a 27mm lens just give it up already.
>> Anonymous
>>267323
truth. morons buy wider lenses and expect it to be magical, when in fact the wider lenses are much harder to compose with.

27mm is pretty wide. Now I was stuck with nothing wider than 50mm, and that fucked me up pretty bad. However, I'm looking to get a 35L and stick it on the new 5D at the end of the year, so bottom line is don't whine about 27.

So just because you don't have 27mm, means others can't complain? Such logic..

I know what you are getting at, but it's not about I cant compose with am 50mm. I do love taking shots like that. But sometimes I watch the exif of some fancy shots and see 10mm and wish I could do that too. It just a gimmick or lets say something every has to do at least once, like a picture of a chess board.
10mm + BW + vignett = ART!!! (at least to some people)
I just would like to experiment with a wider lense but they are so hard to come by

Acutally, once I did that. Felt really stupid after some did explain it to me. But that was long ago and no, it was a wide angle lense
