This last one is nice, but you really need to work on focus.

I have to agree with this poster, you really need to work on holding the camera steady and taking the time to set up the shot. Maybe even use a tripod or a mono pod, or just plain slow down. Unless you're shooting an action shot, then blurry is normal.

I'd also recommend that you slow down a little bit and compose what you're photographing. Everything seems to be in the middle of the frame, which sometimes can be good, but you might want to consider playing around with composition a little bit and making sure that, when you're framing the photo, trying not to get anything distracting in the background/sides.>>42975
is my favorite.
What compelled you to photograph>>42968out of curiosity?

Would be better if it was a bit less exposed, and had a much tighter DOF

i like the 3rd and 4th one.

Thank you all very much for the advice. Centering is a bad habit I need to break. I will definatly look into some support to steady my shots.
Thank you all again ^_^
>> SophiaLee
I took>>42968because I liked how most of the wood looked the same except that one spot in the upper left. Was trying to find patterns with discrepancies. ^_^

i think this shot would have been better if you moved the knot in the wood closer to the middle of the frame, a la rule of thirds. as is, its too close to the edges, so its not really a good focus point since nothing leads the eyes to there.
>> SophiaLee
I agree, Im still trying to balance out when the thirds rule is a rule and when it can be broken.
Thats the hardest thing for me right now is figuring out how to set up shots. To center or not to center, to the left, to the right, zoom in, zoom out. (Pulls hair) lol the joys of learning a new art... :)

Okay, on that one (the wood) your bottom corner's reallyyy overexposed. Are you filtering at all as you photograph? If you haven't invested in a polarizing filter yet, i'd highly recommend it. It helps to cut down on some of the glare you may run into. Also, it seems like your'e running around and taking pictures of everything you can find-- which is good-- but eventually you might want to slow down a bit and look more carefully, to see what you can find. Oftentimes there are patterns within patterns. Also, be careful of your light sources (never shoot directly into the sun, it'll wash out a lot out); you want to and remember to photograph with your back facing the lightsource to give your shots more glow and depth. IMO, though some would argue with me on this. Obvious exception is sunset shots.

She's shooting with a DSC-w70. No filter threads.
