look at the D40, D50, or D70(s) if you want nikon. the D40 is basically the same as the D40x with no real difference, and is cheaper

OP here ,my photography teacher ( wich is a professionnal photographer with his studio and all teh shitmix) told me that d40x as actually way better than the d70 wich is like , 2 years old and more

Get the cameras suggested by the previous Anon instead and spend any extra money you are left on lenses or equipment. You'll be glad you did, especially as you are obviously on a budget.

D40 > D40X. Most people here will agree with that.

Yes. The price difference between d40 and d40x is xbox hueg considering you only get more megapixels (which is usually pretty trivial).

Buy a D40 kit + flash. You'll thank us later.

d70 still has Nikon's (or any camera for that matter) fastest flash sync.

Make your so called professor post here so we can teach him how a D40x is not better than a D70.

This guy probably just doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to DSLRs.

He probably shot medium format film for twenty years, switched to digital a few years ago, and has only used a Dx00 and Dx or 5D and 1D series cameras, knows nothing about the technical aspects of digital, and just knows that his 1D Mk. III gives better results than his 1D Mk. II and figures newer is better.

over? D70(s) are known to underexpose.
but i was more referring to the technical side of it, the 1005 pixel 3D Colour Matrix metering

really? my overexposes like a mother outdoors, always have to knock it down -0.7 EV if i'm shooting A.

The Matrix metering is sex though... if only the fuckin autofocus was decent at night to take advantage of it.

D50 and D40 also have 1/500 flash sync. D40x has 1/200 flash sync. D80 also has 1/200 flash sync, but has a FP mode with supported external flashes, which still doesn't make up for the slower flash sync.

My D70 tends to underexpose.
