shallow dof and strong daylight Anonymous
so let's say you want to take a shot at like f/2.8 or so but even at iso 100, you are maxing out your shutter speed and the picture is like, super overexposed

how do you overcome that short of finding a shadowy place

Use an ND filter or a circular polarizer, the latter will give you two extra stops.

If you can't afford a really great CPL (like then $10 one at Targus), then yeah, a ND is fine too.
>> Anonymous
CPL are more expensive than ND filters?

is this the real way of doing this or is it just a ghetto way?

Ain't nothing ghetto about attaching a filter to your lens.

Especially not one as great as the one available at your local Targus and Walbaums.

>I don't think I've had the shutter speed get above 1/4000 which is the max for my camera
Uh... how can it get above it if it's the maximum speed?

a good question anon.

If you're on AP mode and the shutter speed for the correct exposure is higher than 1/4000 the shutter speed flashes in the viewfinder. It hasn't done that for me, and in fact I don't think its ever set the shutter to 1/4000 when on AP and wide open.

Wow, your meager brain can't even read the latest post in this thread at the time directly previous to your post. What a failure.
