Just got my new Camera, I was wondering, What are the advantages of buying a battery grip.

On paper: Can add and extra battery, resulting in longer shooting times between charges.
And more stable grip ideally for telephotos.

In real world: No real advantage for you i'm presuming. You have an ultra wide zoom so stability isn't really an issue.
And one battery is still worth hundreds of shots, you will more than likely run out of CF space before running the battery down.

or if you have big hands a battery grip can allow you to use all fingers on the grip.

i just bought the grip about a week ago. and i love it. more battery power. ive shot EVERY NIGHT this week and im still on full battery and the extra grip for vertical shooting is great! just make sure you get the actual canon grip, i found a bunch of cheap imitations on ebay that im sure would suck major balls!
