Sigma 10-22mm finally arrived!

And what did I do? Walked around trying to navigate based solely on the world seen at 10mm. Very difficult. Not advisable.

I may reshoot this at f/8 and see if the top parts are any clearer (f/8 is alleged sweet spot of the lens). I wasn't concentrating too much.
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
AWESOME : D

yea, i walked around with 1 eye closed and the other through the lens too
NOT a good idea

but yeah... take interior shots or building shots previously impossible with a normal lens

remember, the best thing about the ultra wide lens is how fun it is to use!
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
grab your tripod
enter forest
stop to like f20
fucking enjoy the win

Okay, I'm convinced I have a "bad copy" of the lens. Compare the left and right sides.

Do I send it off to Sigma?

man, you guys should try driving through a camera lens.

its fucking awesome :D

>>136531
also, yea that whole left;right thing is pretty bad/obvious.

maybe a slightly decentered element?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

ITT why I'm a brandfag who only buys first-party lenses for my Canon.
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>136534
Yes, Well take a few test pics first, But since that was at f8 I imagine its an internal issue.
Mine certainly is a lot more consistant at f8 than that.

>>136566
Return policy for the win. Plus some options aren't always available in the first party lineup.

You've been wangled

pretty damn shitty at the edges

I didn't buy it because of its edge performance, I don't think anyone who buys it does (not at wide apertures anyway).
Its just fun how wide it is! 15mm is nuts!

oh lol let's take pictures at 15mm and have shitty edges

great lol
>> sv !!vC9KZM3Ch/H
I'm exchanging for another one. Hopefully it's better. But now I'm back to waiting close to two weeks for it.

I was hoping to use it next weekend down in Palo Duro Canyon, but if the photos come out like>>136531, I'd rather not.
>> sv !!vC9KZM3Ch/H

Wouldn't all UWA have bad edges compared to the center, though?

Ya thats the big negative to buying online, if it was local a few hours would be all it takes to exchange it.

I also tried walking around my house with one eye fixed on the camera at 10mm, I bumped into soo much stuff...

i expect all lenses except macro and the tamron 17-50 to have worse egdes than the center

but this is just horrible and beyond reasonable limit

Hey Vincent, I'm going to the Botanical Gardens tomorrow, any secrets on panos that you'd be willing to reveal?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>136857
Hmm, I pretty much already explained all my secrets.

Ones I consider most important
Set the camera to manual
Make sure you have a good foreground! (Very important especially for wider angle panoramics)
The more you layer the better.
Overlap vertical and horizontal pictures.
3:1 ratio = best for printing and viewing

other than that not much
if theres anything i forgot ask and I will tell, I don't have a problem telling people how i got my shots.
