Peter Franklin is a photographic god. Look for his name in the years to come. He's simply unbelievably talented.

I handed him my Ricoh today, and the first fucking picture he takes is GENIUS. P Frank: I adore you.

All you UT kids, look for his shots in the Texan, they're among the best.

This reminds me very much of Kafka somehow.

Is that you on the stairs?
>> heavyweather !4AIf7oXcbA

Yeah, I get the same feeling. And it is me on the stairs, mantis that I am.

Little scabby, but totally fine. It's gonna be wicked when it's all clean skin in a week or so.

I just thought of something.

You've got another lookalike. Similar features, except he's just really gaunt.

(BTW, when I was digging through your Flickr for a relevent image, I saw "Girlfriends," which is awesome.)

What's the big deal about that picture? It's crappy. I've seen hundreds or thousands like it.

I think you are too star-struck to see the image for what it is.
>> Anonymous
I see nothing special about that photo. It's blurry and sucks.

It's just crappy. It's nothing to do with "auto everything". I've seen some beautiful images done with plate cameras. I have no prejudice against the technology.

Haha, I dunno man, he's got some serious wingnut ears.

Here's the photo he's talking about. I love this camera! It's so much fun for street stuff. I felt comfortable approaching this group with it, they were friendly and unintimidated (though I dunno if a skinny-ass white guy like me COULD have intimidated them, haha), and I had a really nice conversation with Stacia (sic?), the girl with the white tank top.

It's blurry, but it's gorgeous. It's perfectly composed, the stairs vanish right into the upper left corner, the steps occupy the bottom left perfectly, my legs vanish into the bottom right, there's blur yet at the same time, areas of sharpness. The whole thing is very prescriptive rather than descriptive. It captures my form and movement more than my exact features. It's just phenomenal. This is the kind of photo I always want to take, but never can. I would not be surprised to see something like this hanging in a gallery. Not every photo needs to be technically perfect. Hell, look at THE Capa shot from D-Day. It's the emotion it evokes that matters.

I think this is an Emperor's New Clothes situation. There is nothing good there. You have gone way over the top. This is on a par with the shitty webcam snaps on deviant art. It is boring and has no redeeming features.

Your comparison to the D-Day photos is ridiculous. Leagues apart.

Sorry, but a guy on some stairs evokes zero emotion.

Who the fuck is Peter Franklin?

Yeah, but begin starving to death and make googly eyes and then other than the ears...

I think it's your noses, mostly, and your lips look the same shape, except plumper.

>>149646
I've never heard of Peter Franklin before and this shot strikes me. Like I said, it reminds me immeasurably of Kafka (and not because Heavyweather's in it, that came later).

It also reminds me of the Cartier-Bresson where it's just a guy on a bike at the bottom of some stairs.

UT Austin.

Peter Franklin's just a badass senior photographer on the Daily Texan with me, and mark my words, he'll be huge some day soon. He's already collaborating with Eli Reed on a book project.

He is the undisputed master of the 35mm f/2 Nikkor. Heh.

All I see is a blurry, shitty b&w pic with no meaning what so ever.

But then again, I'm not a fagget

Wow.

35mm on a DX, or FX/film? Because those imply rather different things about his style.

HAHA. Of course with things like Daily Texan under his belt, people are going to suck his dick for exhibitions. Get real.

And I don't see anything special about these photos at all. Get off your soapbox.
