Take your "dslr" and run over it with a bus, and throw it into the sea.

Can someone please give this guy an accurate crit of his work? It's frustrating to see threads full of photos not get any comments.

I don't like these pics but I'm not good at explaining why.

>Can someone please give this guy an accurate crit of his work?
Righty-o.

The main problem with them is that they're just not particularly interesting pictures. The secondary problem with them is that he apparently subscribes to the "Bukkake" theory of photoshop--i.e., that it should be coated on thick and in a very in-your-face style.

Also: Posting to a board like this in PNG format is fail for a few reason. Most obvious reason is that it takes a lot of extra size (which makes the shots slower to view and raeps 4chan's bandwidth to no good effect) for no visible extra quality. Less immediately obvious, it means we get no EXIF data because PNG doesn't have an equivalent.

ZOMFGVIGNETTING.

The vignetting doesn't add to this shot. In fact, it distracts from it, and it's already a pretty poor shot to begin with. When you're doing a silhouette, you're emphasizing form over detail, and this is (a) an extremely boring form and (b) filled with distractions from that already-boring form (like the I-assume-light over it, the weird angled signpost, the trees in the background, the wires, etc). And really, pictures of streetsigns are just boring. I've taken a lot of pictures of streetsigns, and they've all been boring. I don't recall ever seeing someone else's picture of a street sign that wasn't boring, either. Anyone got one?

Again, boring subject, presented in a boring manner (composition isn't particularly compelling), with the contrast turned up to 11. You've taken a bad base picture and made it worse with postprocessing.

Stupid Firefox ate my tripcode. Anyway, part 2:

>>257608
This is the least bad of the shots, but it's still not great. But it's the only one that I don't have specific advice for.

>>257609
Man, you really love that stop sign, dontcha?

Sky is blown out (whether from the exposure or the postprocessing, we can't really tell). The house and the stop sign have more or less equal visual weight in the shot (the house takes up a lot more space, but the stop sign is against a black background), and neither of them is even a vaguely interesting subject. It's like having two math teachers speaking in dull monotones, one trying to teach you L'Hôpital's rule and the other trying to teach you Chebotarev's density theorem and you really don't want to be listening to either of them.

>>257613
Your subject here is what, the lens flare? Maybe you could follow that up with a picture of slow maximum flash sync speed, or a diptych of soft wide-open aperture performance and small-aperture diffraction.

When searching for good photographic subjects, "the technical flaws in my equipment" should not be near the top of your list.

Any art in this picture should be attributed to the government bureaucrat who designed the sign, not you.

My experience in England was that everyone ignored the speed limit signs. You might want to follow their example.

Thank you for the c&c.

Lessons learned. Essentially, dont play with lightroom/photoshop. Learn framing. Post in jpg for exif.. (thats a genuine mistake, i didn't know about that one.. thanks for pointing it out.)

I'm off to google for some noob guides. Will return when i've uninstalled photoshop :-)
