Howsitgoin /p/

This is a landscape I shot a couple months back, I know there's not many landscapefags on /p/ but there's not much else to shoot when I'm not in the city. C+C?

I don't like the soft focus but it's quite nice :)

that's not soft focus :/

its pretty cool, but the middle of the shot is just uninteresting water, mebbe you should've shot it from lower to get those rocks filling more space.

otherwise, really cool. where is this?

Thanks! This is near a place called Ullapool in the North of Scotland, prime landscape country.

In fact if anyone is interested here is a pano shot of the same area I took that day as well, not as heavily edited. Light was crap though, and is a bit underexposed.

delicious
were you using the 18-55 kit lens?
>> else !L6xabslN96

>Exposure Time 7.1 sec
>F-Number f/22.0

f/22 is hardly gonna produce a "soft focus" and soft focus lenses don't exist anymore.

its the long exposure + drizzle/rain that makes it hazy.

yep

awesome, I had the D40/kit lenses but sold it now hopefully getting a D80 some time soon and a nifty fifty
>> Ewan !!bvv8uj07oCz

Sweet, I'm looking at the d90, even though the d40 is fine for the moment, it's way more versatile than most people think!

>>268710
yeah it was an awesome camera, I just wanted something I could grow with get more lenses that would AF etc.

Now that the D90 has come out theres been a price crash for the D80 and you can get it with 18-55 VR for £450 from jessops that lense is £180 on its own, I thought it was a pretty good deal.

Oh wow, you're right! Maybe I'll consider that

yeah I tried out the D90 and I didn't see anything AMAZING that was worth the extra few hundred pounds. Plus with the extra you can get some awesome upgrades. I'm planning on getting the battery grip, f/1.8 50mm, SB-600 flash and in the future the tasty 18-200 although all that stuff costs like £600 :(

I like the pano, though it needs to be cropped a bit off the left and edited a bit more.
I myself shoot almost entirely landscapes (lots of pano's aswell), so theres a few of us on here.

Also don't bother with a battery grip unless you buy the D300.

why is this?
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
battery grips have bad resale value
for landscapes they have no functional bene it
its cheaper to buy a battery to extend battery life

and only the d300 grip offers the fps boost.
>> Martin !!ve2Q1ETWmJH

Agreed, although you can do the FPS trick withouta pack on the d300.

I bought a grip for my d80 because at gigs, i often found myself elbowing people on the face and whatnot when tilting the camera.
