I have had one of these cheapskates for a while. Problem is, when using regular, non-rechargable batteries, they last for some fifty pictures and then die. Is this how it's supposed to be, or do I have a reason to ask for it fixed?

Congratulations on having a shit camera that eats batteries. You expect too much, use decent batteries or get a better camera.

uhh, canon powershot a720 is?

shitty? wat?

mine runs on quite some time with non-rechargable batteries. and I've maxed out memory cards.

the only thing i hate about these are the lens but sometime soon i should be picking up a decent nikon

Are you using lithium or regular alkaline batteries?

Don't use batteries that die after single use they are crap. Get some decent rechargeables. Personal favorite are eneloop. Will outlast any of that alkaline shit and you can use them over and over. Seriously more worthwhile and will save you loads in the mid to longterm.

eneloop are 1.2 volts vs 1.5 volt for a normal battery. this makes them not worth it since the extra voltage helps

1.2v is standard for rechargable NiMH - not just eneloops. Alkalines are 1.5v.
