Question: Why shoot slide film?

Because Velvia is only available as a slide film?

Projection? Though I doubt OP does it for that.

Wrong answer. " I want to shoot slide film because I want to shoot Velvia."

I can make my digital shots look enough like velvia so that a noob like OP can't tell the difference. Shoot negative film. Positives are only for shits and giggles.

If thats the case, then alright.
But the cons of slide film seem to outweigh the pros in my opinion. Especially that its only got a 1/3rd stop range either side of the exposure.

you cannot get the same look though. slide film has loads more character and less grain

Also the color reproduction. With a slide, the colors you get are the colors you shot. With negatives, the colors you get are a product of the colors you shot and the printing/scanning process. Which could be good or bad, depending on what you prefer.

Personally I shoot slide film because it's fun and slides are pretty.

Where do you live? Not, like, stalker quality address, just what's your closest major metropolitan area? There's probably a pro photo lab within driving distance that you can take it to unless you're seriously out in the middle of nowhere.

look at a well exposed slide on a lightbox ... nothing looks better
