anybody?

I don't think you're supposed to do that on the lens, but I could be wrong.

RTFM.

the manual really doesnt say anything about it. i know to switch the switch on the lens and to move the focus ring up so it doesnt rotate but im pretty sure the manual ( neither camera, nor lens) says anything about it.

i guess il go back and read the part about the focus modes.

You could have switch the camera to MF mode over 9000 times in the time it took you to post this.

yes but its quite a process to switch the lens to af/mf then the focus ring then do it on the camera.

someone has to have an idea

Why don't you just try it and see if it works?

If the switch on the lens is set to AF then it may damage the lens if it is not designed to be used that way. Some lenses (the better quality ones) allow the user to adjust focus manually without taking it off of AF mode. Full time manual focusing, etc. So you could AF, hold down the shutter button just to lock that focus and then tweak it to your preference with manual adjustment. All without changing a switch.

Do that with a lens not designed for it and it may cause problems.

RTFM.

As far as I know the rule of thumb is that Sigma's HSM lenses allow you to manually adjust focus with AF on and non-HSM ones don't. My 10-20 EX has full-time manual focus. My 18-200 DC doesn't.

put it in S-AF + MF mode?
