ITT: tilted horizons.

I'd really like to be helpful but I honestly have no idea what you're going for with it so I'll just say shitsux.

I like this one.
How did you achieve the strange perspective?
(photography noob here)
>> sv !!vC9KZM3Ch/H
>>184599

Check the EXIF, it's 10mm. That's how. :)
>> Anonymous
>>184601
so thats like 15mm 35mm equiv or does 4chan show the equiv?
would this be a fisheye or does cannon have such a lens?
>> Serenar !m827jEgWi.
>>184602
It's the Canon EF-s 10-22, which gives an view equivalent to that of a 16mm lens on 35mm. It is not a fisheye, though Canon does sell those too.

As for the photos:

>>184585I like a lot more than I should, considering I hate any ultrawide people pictures. This is a reasonably original take on the idea, and the parking lot lines work great. I dunno if cropping a bit off the top would be good - leaving in the complete lamppost seems like an equally good idea.

>>184586
I hope that's real vignetting there, because it's already borderline excessive. Otherwise awesome, maybe with a little more detail in the model's face (but I guess this isn't possible)

>>184587
Great lighting but the pose bugs me.

>>184589
Not a fan of the washed out color. Also really hurt by the fact that one eye is not in focus and is covered by a lock of hair so it becomes a blob.
>> Anonymous
What about an horizontal horizon? The dynamism is in your girlfriends pose and in the parking lines, not in the horizon. I like them apart form that.

I don't like this, it doesn' t look like a perspective...she looks deformed.

>>184586
Looks like the world is falling to the side. lern2align. people don't look at photography bending their heads to the side

>>184587
cool for a zombie movie but would be better aligned

>>184588
wtf is going on with her hand, it looks like its on fire and it's not really nice since it's totally focused on one eye only and everything else in a huge picture is blurry.

This one is good. The thing with your photos is that they usually lack a human element, they're stylized bodies and not people. This one has that.

Beethy, do you do graphic design or take graphic design classes?

Text at an angle = usually good.

Horizons at an angle = usually bad.

Other than that these are OK, and I like>>184586best.
>> Anonymous
>>184585
terrible composition and the 10mm makes her look retarded

>>184586

another not so great composition, titled horizon does not automaically add interest to a photo. The whole thing is grey

I think I would've focused on her closest eye instead, but whatever.

>>184587
Favorite. Way to keep the lil cross illuminated, that really helped sell this one.
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
Yeah I'm not really a lady..
Actually, the critique this time around is actually really helpful. Really appreciate it.
I agree on shot 4 that the left eye probably should've been the focal point.
Also, the horizons would look better straight.. Agree with that too.
And on pic 2, that's just a real gradient in the sky.. didn't shoop that.

I don't have time to really reply to you guys since my PC broke overnight and I'll need to back stuff up, etc.. and buy a new PC or something

Anyway, thanks guys
>> Anonymous
in picture one you used flash nicely, and i really like the photo overall
two is also pretty nice... three doesn't interest me
four is alright too, but i've seen better portraits
>> Anonymous
>>184585
Looks like you had a fun and quick dynamic shoot
The tilted horizons don't really hurt the photos that much IMO, that might be my preference though
My favorite is number 2, it's really cool and moody
Good use of the 10-22 also, try to use your 50mm more
>> beethy !HJGkSBB3Ao
>>184991
It seems I've fixed the issue now..
>> Vincent !!8LCSE0Zp1mL
>>184585
I like this one actually, Wide angle portraits are difficult to do, and this one doesn't create the unflattering warping they usually do. Just a good emphasis on her face (and her shoes lol)
>>184586
Too dark on her face, I love the puddle though, has an interesting effect on the asphalt below. Lol I would probably have ditched the girl and just shot the puddle :)
>>184587
This one is great, can't really fault anything here!
>>184588
Left eye needs to be the primary focus. However looks great otherwise, the colors are pretty awesome, reminds me of the generic Jpop CD covers!

the composition of this photo is excellent, i absolutely love how you got your subject right between those two beams it really makes the photo, as for the photoshoping, it appears to be a aquired taste for this type of work, me personally i think its over done but im sure others will disagree

NO please don't listen to faggots complaining about alignment. you should realise by now that /p/ has the taste of a high school art teacher or a first year design student or something, ie, borderline retarded. just look at how the photo LOOKS, move past alignment and 2/3rds etc. remember they are only general guidelines, and so many perfectly exposed and aligned pictures are boring as fuck. and these would be too if they were all nicely lined up and shit.

i'm not saying consciously ignore those guidelines, because that is affected and gay, but just don't think about them. your photography is past the stage where you need to follow them to make a non-ugly picture.

first pic is dull and has been taken a zillion times before.

second pic is by far the best.

third pic is alright, nicely composed.

fourth pic looks like a 70s polaroid or something which is a pretty 90s thing but not inherently bad i suppose.

keep making pictures!

thanks anon
>>186678
you know, it's funny... since i've been coming to /p/ i actually have listened to real critique and it's helped me compose photos better than before.
like before, i never really looked at the background for either elements that help the image or elements that distract.
if i just kept swallowing all the "WOW BEETHY HOW U DO THIS??" shit on deviantart, i would still be taking photos the same way.
/rant
thanks for the critique by the way, very helpful

if you look at the horizons and the white concrete on the right picture.. anon actually created a weird staircase effect
