Hi /p/...

looking for a digital camera. I'm a concert lighting designer, so I want something that can capture the true beauty of a lighting performance, but I don't want to spend $4,000...

preferably no more than $700...

As far as post picture editing, I'm not terribly concerned with RAW support... I'm not going to spend much time editing it.

I had looked at the Fujifilm FinePix S9100... opinions???

preciate it

OP here, just browsed the rules and such for this board... figured I'd add something else...

Concert is Finger Eleven... and this picture makes me so mad... it looks so much better in life.

Occasionally I want to take pictures of the lighting rig as well, which can be anywhere from 20-110 feet away, but I can't be running around with various lenses...

try dowsing your camera with shitty overpriced beer bought with a fake ID and the rubbing it with some pure teenage retardation and your shit will look awesome, or at least it will to the type of moron that is impressed by multicolored lights AKA you

Holy dooley settle down boyo.

You need some sought of DSLR, only a camera with a larger sensor will do your lighting justice. I highly recommend you don't buy the S9100 while a resonable camera, it won't be so great in this situation.

I own a fugifilm finepix s9100, and it's a-fucking-mazing.

BTW, as a lighting designer, you legally need to watch Beside You In Time by Nine Inch Nails. It's the best lighting around, man.

Or ditch that POS and watch And All That Could Have Been which kicks the shit out of BYIT.

No :-/

Yeah, I guess you're right. La Mer on AATCHB is the most beautiful 4 minutes and 46 seconds of my LIFE.

Ditch POS's if you want to get marginally better than the average concertgoer shots.

Grab a DSLR, and 2 wide angle primes, An external flash and a dome diffuser.

Total cost will probably be more like $1500, But they will be a hell of a lot more flexible than a fixed lens small sensor P&S.

Of course you really have already made up your mind so I don't know why I bothered to write this reply..
Sometimes we give all the right advice, for the OP to just throw it all away and buy what he would have bought in the first place, only for 2 months down the road to realize maybe he should have listened.

But its your money, have fun spending it
