I agree, it's great.

Which is probably why it was one of Diane Arbus' most famous pictures...

(Spoiler: OP is not Diane Arbus)

Nope, I am indeed not her. I was hoping to bait some people like in http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrerabelo/70458366 . I guess people here know too much about past masters of the art.

That's just sad.

I suspected as much. You picked a terrible photo to do it with, though, it's too obvious.

heh, read that thread once. found it from http://theonlinephotographer.blogspot.com/2006/06/great-photographers-on-internet.html

I like how the attempt was to get people to critique the photo.
Except wait, Its art and therefore completely subjective, If anything this proves that we all follow the leader and look to what other people find "good" and base our own judgements on the lowest common denominator.

yes we do.
you should have picked a lesser known photographer, like Bill Owens or Otto Steinert.

HAY GUYS, LIEK MY PEPPER?
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

Pfft. This photo isn't very interesting. I mean, it's just a kinda funny looking pepper, and it doesn't even look very fresh. If you absolutely must take boring shots like this of stuff laying around your kitchen, at least get a *fresh* pepper, and take it in color--peppers are very colorful veggies, so desaturating loses a lot of what makes them interesting.

And seriously, there's a grocery store just down the road from me (just have to go West on Edward St. street a bit) and I could find like 29 peppers that would make better subjects than this. I don't want to discourage you from photography, but you should really take a little more effort to work on your subjects before posting on /p/ again.

yeah, now THIS is a good photo of a pepper. god.

Why can't people just learn that if it's not a color saturated macro shot with a super sharp lens it's just not a good photo??

I mean god!

It needs more peppers.
No exceptions.

I agree. It's just so stupid and juvenile... but so awesome.

This should've been in color. You can't photograph black people in black and white; they won't stand out.

Also, is head is a little cut off. You're too close, besides; it's too raw. Stop down a bit for more depth of field. (Go to the larger f-numbers.)

on a side note, /p/ has continuously surprised me with its command of photo history.

and 79436: pretty lame, milhouse.

Also, he's got a bit of a weird expression on his face. You should have him face a bit more towards the camera. And most of the frame's taken up by a blank wall and his shoulder. You should get closer, and maybe try shooting in portrait orientation--landscape is really just nacht the way to go with this.

hah you're good at stealing other people's work.
