Hello /p/, I have a gig Monday to shoot a Health show. Problem is I haven't really shot shows before, so I'm requesting advice on low light shooting and such.
Take a monopod. What lenses do you have, what can you easily carry, and will you have access to the press pit/stage area/whatever?
Use the 24-85 and the 50mm.
Against Me! ftw
monopod, use the 50, manual focus, Av mode wide open, ISO 800pre-focus on where the singers mic is, wait until he is where you prefocused and burst moderepeat for each musician
thanks anon
you should stop the 50mm down to about f/2, most 50mm's i've used aren't very sharp at 1.4 or 1.7. Shoot I'd shutter priority with about 1/125th of a second and make sure your aperture doesn't get wider than 1.7. Try iso 400 if you can, 800 should be fine. Shoot RAW and a photoshop plugin like noise ninja will help a lot.Oh, and if there are bright lights dial in -1ev to stop them burning out.
