Hey /p/.

I just wanted to know what your take on posting your work up here was and whether or not you believe posting anonymously means your copyright still applys when it's impossible to contact the creator.

I've seen a few things I've just sort of gawked at on here in amazement (image related) and stared at for a few minutes and I've got this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that people might be coming hear and stealing your work.

It's vaguely relevant since I'm writing a paper on copyright and I thought it'd be a good idea to use a contrivertial site as an example under my appendices as research.

I don't know... is this "stealing" actually a real problem? For what purposes would someone take these pictures? Most people here post relatively small resolution pictures, so you can't use them for any print media. I don't care if someone takes my photos and posts it on their DeviantArt page, they get nothing, I have the RAW, I have the skills.

You forgot
I HAVE THE POWER!

But ya, big deal if someone steals them, even if its big enough to print its not like they can sell them. (Well i suppose they can try, but only 2 types of pictures sell IMO, Wedding pics, And sports shots, Sure you can sell the odd landscape at like 5% markup, but it won't make yu rich)

Op here. Good call.

I was also wondering how I could go about contacting a photographer from the board for permission for an education licence of the image for a Flash project.

I can knock my grade up from a pass to a distinction if I have two, complete with casual exchange e-mail.

Included is another image I really like from /p/.

I think anyone that posts their stuff on 4chan at its original resolution automatically forfeits any claim they may have had in the image.

seriously. Scale that shit down- and reap the benefits:

1- People will be able to SEE your work, rather than its constituent pixels
2- People won't steal your work
3-people won't make bitchy posts like this, anymore.

I wish the top of the butte weren't flush with the horizon, but it's otherwise a great shot. Go great in a gift shop's stock or on a postcard.

Is that the Havasu waterfall?

you spelled controversial wrong btw. anyway, well anything you post here is still your property. you still own the rights to it even if you post anonymously. if you want to let people use it and give you credit, then put some sort of name on the picture or in the post. if not, then it should be credited to an anonymous poster.

I've been to that exact same spot. Bottom of the Grand Canyon, amirite?

We went swimming in that spot too. Fcking freezing!

Dude, sweet! New desktop photo :P

How'd you get such an odd lighting quality? Was it just the time the photo was taken, or what?
