Okay /p/, I asked in /wg/ and got no halp there. Is it possible to remove bloom in photoshop or GIMP? for the record, I have GIMP, photoshop is too rich for my blood at $649, although I can procure it if need be. Specifically, I need this pic's bloom removed.

bloom is the effect in videogames and some photography that sort of brightens up the image's bright bits... personally, I think nextgen games over use it. Oblivion used it to okay effect, see comparison.
<--WITH BLOOM.

WITHOUT BLOOM

OP here: If you'll notice, my pic for fixin has some bloomlike effect, I want it removed. A desktop like this looks best without HDR, contrast, or w/e effects imho, it should be stark and simple.

Something like this???

If yes, then select the white, create a mask, edit the mask, set the color, set the opacity, flatten image, save -->> profit.

Just noticed I've lost a bit of detail in the teeth, but it was a quick job anyway. Is that sort of what you mean?
