hey /p/

It's my 17th birthday in a few days, and my dad's bought me a Fujifilm Finepix S1000FD

I was just wondering if anyone else on here has one, and has anything about it I should know, or any setting hints, or any pics they've taken with it...

I was under the impression it was pretty decent for it's price range...

mean - its his 17th birthday pressie - ffs
( in /b/ ) this is totally acceptable

op - best advice is - forget standard settings
every situation calls for exposure varibles - and these are just that - varible

if you dont have shake reduction

shutter speed should be at least the same as focal lenght

ie 50mm = 1/50th or faster

go out
take lots of pictures

do not post them on /p/ and ask if they are any good....

haha, I don't intend to come on here to ask if the pics are any good - I'll use devart for that. I usually use exposure variables anyway (although my current camera - canon powershot A400 - is crappy enough that it doesn't make that much difference) but thanks for the advice on the shutterspeed/focal length hint, i'll be sure to remember that one :)

That's like asking a Mac forum if Macs are good.

Generally, true, but I know a few people on there who do good critiques, so i'm hoping to get some decent feedback

it´s a good camera and unlike everyone on /p/ will tell you, you dont need a canon/nikkon or leica until you outgrow that camera, which isnt that easy

OP: nevermind /p/eople. Today they are stupid.
This is a great p&s camera. Try to play with it on Manual mode.

little belated, but thanks to the last two anons :)

Good camera, ignoring what many here will say in troll fashion, for lite photography.

It really matters what you are looking for with photos in mind. It is good for nature shots and animal(bird) shots with burst and manual settings. Get use to using the burst shot button next to the shutter button if for the latter of the two. Also ditch the auto setting as it never really does a good job at setting itself for situations as I have found. If you take the auto focus and have it constantly focus(not the out of box setting) it will such the ever living hell out of your batteries but is really good for those once in a second/instant shots.

As I stated before it really matters what you are using it for, just as fun and a hell of a lot cheaper than cannons with high investments. Those are usually only for those who are using them for a profession then amateur or fun. At least that is what I have gathered from most here.

oops. I take back my one comment as the last two anons have disproved as exceptions to the rule
