Personally I hate the use of that word, I love circles of confusion and focal blur. Anyone who debates the correct pronunciation of it is an idiot.
But as for it's aesthetic value I do like it, it is one of many devices to use when making images so understand how it works and use it properly.

I refer to it as blur, or out of focus, and sometimes refer to the effect that created it, DoF. That aside, it is just another thing that can be used in an image. It is not good or bad.

Some lenses produce "prettier" bokeh than others.

yup! definitely depth of field. i didn't know what those words meant, so i looked them up, and that's what they said. they also said, it's usually a byproduct of the hdr process.
