I actually really like this. It's all "Fuck you and your rules of composition. My subject is a tiny boat, waaaaaaay in the corner." It makes me smile

Works nice for sports from the sidelines though. A wide aperture prime telephoto.

Look up the price of a 200mm f2 and then tell me how fail it is.

I just kept hearing raving about what a great portrait lens it is, but didn't think of close it'll be on a 1.6x crop, so all I got are semi-telephoto shots with it : /

...

It's great for portrait when you have a film or 5D or 1Ds.

You need a 85mm on crop for it.

It is possible to use it outside for that with enough distance, but it is rather long for most portrait usage on a crop body. Hardly ideal.

It is still a lens with good uses for other work. I've seen a few people pick it up for non-portrait work on the crop bodies.

50, 60, 85 is probably what you'd be wanting for more comfortable portrait usage.

I like it too.
Looks like it would make a bit of a minimalist wallpaper.

I honestly really like the first.

I've seen people use 85mm lenses on olympus (2x crop = 170mm film equivalent) for portraits, and even for full-body shots. They claim it's not as inconvenient as it may seem.

I like both of these images, though I wish the boat in the first was a cruise ship or something.

The one with the parachuter is great.
The vignetting makes it seem really dreamy, and the small size of the subject (and lack of detail) make it feel almost like a toy.

Do you mean you don't like looking at portraits or you don't like taking them?
