landscape orientation would have looked much nicer.

Something was annoying me and i couldn't tell what. After staring at it for a while, i think its the angle. Maybe it would have been better if taken from a lower angle, looking up a bit more. Thats my opinion.

put the people at 1/3 lower right cross, and angle it towards the horizon a little more.(if you could have I mean)
and...
it really depends what the subject of the photo is

why landscape? the all the lines in the image are vertical. The road, the direction they're walking, the things along the side of it... no, portrait works.

It isn't a planned photo, just happened to pass by

I really think that it is better in portrait.

Some suggestions about cropping?

that is the whole resized photo and i could't get a nice crop of the full version

This one was shot in another part of the city/town.

The terrain is very irregular, so its hard to get a proper angle due to the extreme differences in heigths

Throw it away. Shoot a different picture.

No, he's right, and can we please throw away the stupid, prescriptive, inaccurate "landscape" and "portrait" terms for horizontal and vertical pictures?

A landscape is a picture of a landscape, like the photograph in question. A portrait is a picture of a person, and sometimes the term is applied to animals, as well.
