ALL my cf cards (I got 2 more of the 512s actually)

im not a proponent of the all your eggs in a 16gb basket, obviously

(this is now a post your cfs thread)
>> grant
why are you here? and what are the speed rates on those? like 40x? wow, your getting 2 fps, congrats.

im not gonna scan my extreme IV 8gb
i think its cheap to see a pro photog changing cards on a gig.
>> Anonymous
>>237180
Imagine a pro photog filling up all 8GB covering a unique event like a wedding then finding out the card is corrupted.
>> Anonymous
>>237181
there's a tool for that.
i plan on getting another 8gb or a 16gb ultra 3 mk2 as a backup and shooting raw to the 16, jpg to the 8.
ive never had a card fail, ever, since smartmedia.
remember smartmedia? WOW 16 MB thats like 2000 photos!

>shooting raw to the 16, jpg to the 8
You should always be shooting RAW if you have the space for it. I always shoot RAW + Small Basic JPEG and have three 1GB SD Cards for my D80. Each card fills roughly 70.

Knock on wood.

D3 fag, i always shoot raw.
i shot jpg for the first day i owned the camera. never again.

has anyone had a genuine sandisk card fail? ever?
>> Anonymous
yea 2 of those are corrupted

i just haven't bothered to pop em in to windows vista to recover em yet
>> Anonymous
I shoot for a studio though, so I don't usually handle taking the photos off the cf.. maybe they fucked up reformatting it, probably

i think its cheap to see bad photos

he can use a holga for all I care

>>237177why are you here? and what are the speed rates on those? like 40x? wow, your getting 2 fps, congrats.

lol wut
>> Grant
when you take a picture, your frame rate is based alot on how long it will take to write the information onto the card, like writing onto a disc. so, the lower the writing speed, the slower it takes to be ready for the next photo. x10 sucks. x300 is sweeeeeeeet.
>> Anonymous
rofl

except 40x doesn't give you 2 fps

unless you're using a shitty point and shoot

what kind of scanner do you have?

FUCK ME THAT IS EXCITING.

you lose
>> hekrob !NpuBFNCrvo
goddamn you all are stupid
fps on a DSLR has nothing to do with card speed, the images are written to the buffer before they are written to the card
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>237330
what happens when the buffer runs out?
>> Anonymous
>>237332

then nothing, your camera chugs at 0.5-1.5 fps until the buffer is cleared

nothing, NOTHING, bypasses the buffer

just because you have a magical INSANE HIGH SPEED NITROUS card doesn't mean you magically bypass your buffer's maximum size
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>237347
really, shit my sony is going to implode next time i use continous on it.

notably not because it bypasses the buffer but that it can write to the card fast enough to not fill it.
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
>>237349

then you're not shooting at the full frame rate the camera is designed to do

every camera keeps on writing to the card, after buffer fills, at a slower rate, that's just how it works

or you are using JPG

feel free to make a video of the a100 shooting RAW files at 3 fps at unlimited frames, that would be lulz worthy

i only shoot JPEG. Never said i was using RAW, stop putting words into my mouth after not correctly specifing the conditions and subsequently loosing.
>> beethy !vW/UaE6zYU

i just hopped on /p/ now.
i'm sorry i'm not here 24/7 debating and arguing.
that and i often ignore gear/tech threads... but when i see a point i agree with, there's nothing wrong with stating such.

ahahhahaah

no one gives a fuck about JPG performance with high speed cards because every fucking camera buffers JPG fast enough to shoot unlimited

holy fuck

why the fuck would you come and argue about this shit going hoghoghogho my SONY A100 WOULD IMPLODE BECAUSE IT'S SO GREAT

get the fuck out with your JPG

hahaha enjoy missing the shot but having fun playing with sliders.
>> Anonymous
>>237392
did you recently say you might start shooting raw?

how often do you use your burst mode? or do you just use it every time in hopes one will be good?
>> Anonymous
>>237392hahaha enjoy missing the shot but having fun playing with sliders.

too bad just about every fucking dslr out today buffers up to 10 RAW files at at least 3 FPS

jesus fucking christ if you to miss a shot at that rate

but no, we're not all as great as you are butterfly, we don't do extreme sports like surfing and uhhh inspiring landscapes and uhhh breakdancing in clubs

hilarious, get the fuck out

To be honest you can do a surprising amount of pp with jpegs taken at low iso with the highest quality setting on a lot of cameras.

I shoot raw if the picture is important but a lot of the time they just never get used and waste valuable card space, especially if you're shooting outside and the lighting sucks anyway, you just end up trying to polish a turd when the scene looked crap to your own eyes in the first place.

If the lighting is good and I can see the photo will be awesome, that's when I shoot raw so I can make sure the photo will be the best it can be but I got bored of trying to make raw shots taken in bad conditions look better.
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
>>237397
yes but for landscape, hardly fast moving subject.

Im normally on continious mode because why not be?

Its the fact that you can shoot _forever_ on jpeg, not that you can shoot fast for a short period. 9 shots goes in 3 seconds, which is either very long or very short depending on what sport.
