So in a massive facepalming accident I broke my Nikon 18-55mm (pic related) and now all I have left is a Sigma 30mm f/1.4.

I need a replacement, but was thinking maybe another range. I've always felt that lens didn't zoom in QUITE as much as I'd want sometimes though. Any recommendations?

Needs autofocus motor, it's for a D40.

18-135?
Cheap, more range, light.

18-70? It's Nikon's most well regarded wide-tele zoom, apart from the Ken Rockwell Special.

55-200mm VR if you don't mind losing out on the wide-angle range

I'll trade you my 18-55mm for your sigma :P

i have the 18-135mm, it is sufficient for 90% of regular shooting...

I bought the 18-70 recently and... meh I dunno. I'm thinking of reselling it, because I'd rather just have an ultrawide, my 50 1.8, and then my 55-200. The zoom ranges on the 18-70 are spaced weird and... I dunno, overall just disappointed with it. Meh.

Ive heard that the tamron 17-50 now has an af motor for the d40/60, so get that

Or you should of went canon and not had to deal with lenses not having af motors :p

I guess 135 is slightly too much, I will be getting a tele later

Comparatively expensive D:

In this case I do though, tele comes later

VR does sound sensible at that price, meh, too bad at no extra range though =/
