/p/, I hate basic landscape photography. Its not so much I hate it in its existence, I just can't do it.

That plain shot of the mountainside is great and all, but it bores the shit out of me and never looks good out of my camera. How can I fix this?

Picture related. Only good shot I got today out of a whole damn Sunflower field.

Another question. Does the curvy ruined back pedal on the flower take away from the image?

I personally like the fact it doesn't seem pristine. It'd seem fake that way.

I even tried panos... yet I am still unhappy with the results. I can count the number of landscapes i liked on one hand. I'll post some.

You have the right idea but there's one thing that causes the picture to be just a normal landscape shot. The sky. It just doesn't lok as interesting as what you've got on the ground... maybe recomposing it so the landscape is taking 2/3rds of the screen instead of the horizon being right smack in the middle.

A good rule of thumb is to put the horizon in a place based on whats more interesting. Interesting landscape? Have the horizon up two thirds of the screen. Interesting sky pattern, sunset? Drop the landscape down to taking up only 1/3rd of the screen.

Also, the lighting isn't that good either, not your fault, look at what you were working with that day.

Thanks. I'll go back tomorrow and give it a shot with what you've said in mind. Hopefully the weather will work in my favor as well.

In return, I offer my favorite landscape shot. Taken right off the back porch.

**Note : I think Resize'em All is eating my EXIF data. If anyone would like the originals just ask and I'll gladly post em.

you need an unltra-wide and a nd grad filter.

you see, when you're bad at something, just buy more equipment.

then you'll be good.

Lmao. I'd like a grad filter, but haven't picked one up yet. Hopes are eventually to buy a solid lens for landscape... first, must improve.
