Dear /p/,
How much does dust/small scratches on the mirror itself matter?
As far as I'm aware it's used for the viewfinder, metering and AF -- but it seems metering and AF would work fine so long as the scratches are not too horrific, and so the dust only changes what you see in the viewfinder.

As a result, dust on the mirror wouldn't matter too much, right?

So long as you can kind of disregard it on the viewfinder, I know some people get driven crazy by a tiny spec on the viewfinder, even if you can't see it in the photo.

I don't exactly love it, but I can handle it.
It's the dust on the sensor that gets me.
