perhaps a used canon 20d would be good for you as well, although it depends what you're into. if you're a sucker for large screens and a few more megapixels then skip it, but i think its high fps and great performance makes it a good choice, although you would want to ask them how used it is if you were to chose it, lest you get stuck with an ERR 99.
otherwise an XT or XTi would be an ideal choice, as would be the d40[x], but you should know that with the d40 you will be knowingly locking yourself into buying nikon af and af-s lenses, as it does not have its own motor drive (neither does the d60)
