Got a 3" LCD on your DSLR with Liveview? What do you think of this idea?

Is it just a mirror?

Band-aid for what should be a feature on every digital camera.

I have no idea why they don't have the swivel LCD's pm DSLR's with Liveview capability. On my old Canon S2 IS it was a godsend for many situations. It allowed you to get the shot. It's frustrating not being able to get the shot with a DSLR. Of course I could carry both around with me but that's more weight/bulk.

Many semi-pro and up dSLRs have a level of ruggedness to them. Perhaps a swivel LCD seems like something that would very easily get caught and snap.

good thing the alpha 300 has live view with a swivel screen because it's got the shittiest and smallest viewfinder ever made for crop cameras

0.74x at 95%

Amusingly the A900 is only 0.74x but at 100%

First, you do know the .76 is bullshit, right? They measure even crop cameras with a 50mm lens. Of course a medium telephoto is going to have more magnification than a normal. To really compare it, you have to divide it by the crop factor.

Also, viewfinder size isn't everything. Clarity, materials, etc. also matter. For instance, the EOS 5D has a larger finder than the 1D Mk. III, but the latter's is significantly brighter, sharper, better-arranged, etc. It only sucks when the laser light show of almost all those focus points goes of at once.

and uhh, there's nothing amusing.. crop factor applies to magnification but i'm sure you were just trolling

I remember that company that made tiny little camcorders that plug into a dSLR's viewfinder and then output the image from it to a LCD screen.

I fucking lold at whoever approved that shit as a business idea when just about every dSLR now has Live View
>> Anonymous
I ordered one. For one thing it will help protect the screen and for another it will stop me from smudging the screen with my nose when looking through the viewfinder.
>> Anonymous
why would you want to use the viewfinder in a point and shoot anyway

battery life? that gets you like an extra 50 shots, oooohhhhh can't miss those kodak moments
>> Anonymous
You can also point the camera downwards and place the mirror in front of the lens :-)

Stupid gadget is stupid.
Make a little lens-mirror-focusing screen (or just a prisim) viewfinder that fits onto the flash hotshoe. You use it like the viewfinder of an old TLR camara. They could probably be manufactured for the same cost as that useless mirror gadget.

I made one years ago from a point-and shoot viewfinder taken from an old Kodak bellows camera that was then welded to an L-shaped bracket that fitted into my slr's flash hotshoe.

Yes it will but so what? Can't understand flipped images?
