I'm looking to buy my first SLR. I'm hoping to get one for around the £350 ($710) new OR second-hand (The trade off being, if I find a more awesome intermediate SLR second hand around that price, obviously 350 is going to buy me a entry level/cheap n nasty SLR)

What entry level SLR can you suggest for that range that 1) I won't get frustrated with 2)Is entry level, however fairly decent

Or

What more intermediate cameras can you suggest that I may be able to snatch up second hand for around that price.

Thanks /P/

Can I just say I took that photo with a Cybershot T7 and I have to say that camera (Before some whore stole it from my work) was absolutely stunning. For its size and price its faithfulness to colour and lighting was incredible and I think this photo is a testament to it. Really faithful to what you see for a compact digital.

less money on body, more on lens, etc.

for 350 of her majesties finest you wont get an SLR new. Not one with any future in it anyway.

Either way decide on a system (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Olympus) and spend as little as yuou can on their base model (the base sony is 300 no lense) then save up for a decent prime (50-60 for a 50mm minolta for the sony) and go from there.

That sounds like the best plan.

Get the canon rebel xt for pretty cheap (it's like 450 U.S. dolars on amazon at the moment for just the body.)

Then buy yourself the 50mm 1.8 prime, and the 28-105 mm 3.5-4.5 usm lens.

You can get both for pretty cheap these days, and both are quite good for the money you spend. After that you can happily upgrade lenses and bodies as you wish.

you can pick up a Canon EOS 350D for about £310 on ebay or get a 400D for about £425 and get a £50 cashback off Canon (making it £375)
