OP, if you want to be a professional photographer, start working extremely hard. Good business sense may be more important than photographic skill, but you still need a reasonable level of competence. Take a few classes, make it a point to shoot at least 200 well thought out photos a month, and in five to ten years you might be ready to consider a career in photography.
