Lens sharing question Anonymous
I have a Canon and my friend has a Pentax.

We'd both like to use a Sigma 150mm macro:

Is it even possible to share this lens with an adapter for both cameras? Which mount is preferable to buy?

I think I will lose autofocus on one of them?

If you have an EF-S mount (as opposed to a basic EF mount) Canon, you can adapt his Pentax with one of these:

EF-S mount Canon models are all 1.6x crop digital cameras, with the exception of a few old ones. Look it up if you have an older camera. Probably best to look it up anyway, since "older camera" is subjective and you don't want to bust your mirror based on misunderstanding some anonymous guy on 4chan.

Canon EF mount will not go on Pentax K mount. If you want to use an adapter, it has to be K-to-EF, and EF-S at that.

That website looks pretty damn fishy, like a cheap eBay page.

What is it? Pentax K to Canon EF-S? I don't know about him but my 30D takes EF-S. He's got a K100D, dunnot what they call their mount.

Aw man, that sucks. Oh well, I'll pay like $100 for it I guess.

They call it K-mount. It'll work with your 30D.

The website does look rather down key, but Stephen Gandy is one of the biggest names in selling old or old-style photography equipment, which is what adapters are usually used for. He's the US distributer for Cosina-Voigtlander, for instance.
