Sigma 10-20mm BurtGummer !!RRMHFHglFsy
Anyone got one? Im considering it as my next lens.

I currently have an 18-135mm, 28mm f1.8 prime, and a 70-200VR.. so this kind of seems like the next logical choice.

What are your thoughts on this lens? bearing in mind its going on a Nikon D80.

As a secondary point, ive heard people say that this would be a shit lens for making multiple exposure panoramas with...

whys that?

Also would this be a slow lens?
(difficult to shoot with hand held?)

the sigma 10-20 is what vincent uses for most of his panoramas.

What he said, also this lens fucking kicks ass (Though with some serious drawbacks, aka low corner contrast / sharpness wide open, strange distortion at 10mm).
90% of my pano's are with this lens, also 99% of the time I don't use a tripod.

You be the judge

Its not difficult to shoot handheld with, because you can shoot at around 1/20th of a second with pretty consistant results (Because at 10mm you can hold the camera comparatively steady)

Its not very good for people shots (no wides are) Or indoors without strobes / flash's. However landscapes and sports (if you can get REALLY close) and for more abstract stuff it is amazing.

Cool, really good shots.

Im thinking that a CPL is pretty much a must with this lens. did you have to post process to get the barrel distortion out? or is it not visible in most shots?

I have never removed barrel distortion in my pictures even the ones i stitch (Except for a few fisheye shots, but that doesn't count lol)

I use a slim CPL (Some normal CPL's are too fat, and vignette at 10mm), but some people argue that it creates uneven exposure skies (Which it does). However I don't mind the effect so I leave my filter on at pretty much all times.

I've used it, and I'm planning on buying one from a friend of mine--he does portraits, thought he'd do more landscapes if he had an ultrawide, but it didn't really work out that way. Barrel distortion at 10mm is noticable but not terrible, and it pretty much goes away at anything longer than 12mm.

How is the 28mm f/1.8? I'm torn between picking up that and the 30mm f/1.4, and the difference in aperture doesn't mean much to me.

Its a pretty awesome lens the 28mm. You can basically touch the lens with your subject and its still totally sharp (great for macro), it delivers awesome bokeh (9 blades, so round bokeh) and performs really well in low light.

I went for it over a nifty 50mm because 28mm gave me more room to work with, i can take full body portraits in candlelight with it if i want. I say buy it.
