I recently received a £470 ($970 US) refund from a Nikon D40x with a crappy pixel problem.

While I had the camera I really enjoyed using it, And thought it was a decent buy (AF and Pixel problems aside).

The question is, what should i replace it with? Should I save for the Nikon D80? splurge on a Canon rebel? Or something else?

Im thinking D80, but damn thats a spicy meatball.

Get a D40 and enjoy the rest of the money on a new lense.

Which is what you should have done in the first place.

Or buy a sony :P

Also d50 seems to be a viable option.

OP: Smart ass,I checked, you cant get AF lens for that. lol. Probably a better choice than the bloody D40x though.

D50 50mm f1.8, and save the rest for whatever other type of lenses you want.

if the D80 is too spicy of a meatball for ya, try to find a d70, much cheaper so you could get some lenses or whatever you need.

Get a D40. Not the x. Spend the rest on lenses. God has given you a do-over. Don't waste it.

Get a Canon Rebel. Better than the D40 cameras.
