I Need a Camera Anonymous
Well people, here's the story. I owned a Minolta Maxxum SLR (film) but now i don't have it anymore (long story). Now don't have any camera at all :(

That camera had great image quality so I wanted a digital one with a very good quality like that one or better but not very expensive.

I also want a small digital camera to take everywhere, all i really want is great image quality and small size.

So /p/, what do you recommend?
>> Anonymous
Hi, I forgot to say that my folks want a SLR digital equivalent while I'm happy with a small one as long as it has good image quality.

So, i could use 2 cameras.

Sorry man, the camera got stolen :( (camera, lens, bag)

>>124522
thanks man, I'be thinking of buying a canon, are they good? I also thought about sony
>> Butterfly !xlgRMYva6s
if you have any minolta gear left over, it all works nativly on the sonys so get an A100/200.

If you have any special love of minolta, get the A100/200.

If you just want a new DSLR, go into a store and grope ALL the ones you can afford, choose the most comfortable.

I use a Canon PowerShot SD1000.

fairly certain butterfly is a chick, she posted her camera bag once and it was a purse.

Or he's just a very feminine guy.

If I could find a pink purse that'd carry my gear, I'd carry one too.

i used to carry my gear in a diaper bag. no one's going to steal what they believe to be a big bag of baby shit. plus, the little pockets for bottles just happen to be exactly the right size for most lenses.

i want a shit camera that costs heaps.

if you want quality as good as a film SLR, forget cheap. actually here are a few questions:

how much is "not very expensive"
how good is "great quality image"
how small is "small"
>> Ken Rockwell
I highly recommend the Nikon D40 with the 18-200 VR. It's all anyone really needs.
>> Anonymous
> how much is "not very expensive"
mmm, one thousand dollars more or less
(that money for each one, SLR and P&S)

>how good is "great quality image"
mmm, for the S&R good image quality i can't realy define that, lets say "as good as it gets"

>how small is "small"
small enough to fit in a pocket or backpack easily (P&S)
do not really care size of P&S (but if it's small it helps)

Very good digital compacts include the Leica D-Lux 3 or the Panasonic equivalent, and the Ricoh GR-D 2.

D-Lux 3 (and *any* D-Lux for that matter) is for fags. The Panasonic equivalent (LX2) is all the features, half the price.
