So while a 50mm lens is a 50mm lens regardless of the sensor it's on, when you're using a crop sensor, you move backwards when using a 50mm lens, so it acts like a 50x1.6=80mm lens in terms of perspective.

Also: There's pretty much a 1:1 correspondence between photosites and pixels, so demanding that they be called photosites (or, you know, "sensor spots", wherever you got that from) is needlessly pedantic.
