/p/ has convinced me that there is no /p/icture ever worth taking. It's all meant to be insulted, thrown shit at, spit at. Fuck you /p/, you killed my passion. May you all choke on a hundred dicks and your bowels be filled in mancream.

/p/ -> /d/ would like that. Also, this is 4chan - standard warning about being able to take it, etc apply.

Also - troll?

I would like to take this opportunity to hijack this dead-end thread and enlighten a /p/ user

http://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=188767

Nikon 80-200 f2.8 (AF-D), 2 ring, tripod mount, $600 USD, shipped.
Also in fantastic shape.

I'm able to take it, but just after thinking about what the majority of the users in /p/ try to achieve, I came upon the idea that they seek nothing, nothing at all. Shitsux, it just does. And everyone's work save maybe Vincent's work (and his parents') is deemed shit.

Nothing of value is to be found here. There is only time to be lost. Goodbye /p/, I will go an hero now.
>> Anonymous
/p/ is good for ripping your photos apart with exagerated critsim, if they are grasping at straws then you know its a good photo.
flickr deviant art is for generic "nice photo a+" responces. generaly i find that /p/ will actually tell you what they dont like about the photo, cept the obvios "shit sux" responce

This is why I come here. Generally, I already know when one of my shots is pretty good or great, but I don't think I've ever taken a "perfect" photo and I want to know exactly what's wrong with even my best shots.

I'm never going to be a better photographer with shit comments like 'omg wow luv it.'
>> Anonymous

I come to /p/ whenever I think I'm becoming an awesome photographer, and let them rip my stuff apart. Never fails to help me notice flaws I didn't see in my own work, and to watch out for them.
>> else !L6xabslN96
i come to /p/ cuz it makes me feel special to be on a secret anonymous board with elitist photographers and therefore develop my own elitist ideas of good photography whilst trolling everyone else.

Or you're Depressed Cheesecake, Beethy, AC, Heavyweather, or any one of the other numerous tripfags who we've just given up on because they won't listen to advice and keep producing the same level of horse shit and making the same fucking mistakes.
>> ac !!VPzQAxYPAMA

"we" in this case being the mass of Anonymous posters who never actually post (or in fact, most likely, take) any pictures at all?

>>Generally, I already know when one of my shots is pretty good or great, but I don't think I've ever taken a "perfect" photo and I want to know exactly what's wrong with even my best shots.

Also why I come to /p/. I only post shots which are IMO in my top 1% to see what I could have done better. Also because this is the only place I know where lomo, HDR, the "Dave hill effect", and such are seen for the crappy shit techniques that they are. Goddamn I hate this country where Photography is only for the rich and kiddie assholes who don't know how to use their money.

FWIW, pskaught is probably the best person I have seen to use the "Dave hill effect".

The only good name users on /p/ are:

Serenar
Warren
NatureGuy

Compare their posts to other name users.

All the other ones can be read as: ME! ME! ME!

Bunch of self-centered, egotistical brats. Vincent doesn't even make the cut with his wedding bullshit.

And Butterfly deserves a nomination of best tripfag ever, all things considered.

Don't give me that /p/ has changed bullshit. If you wanted serious advice and conversations, you wouldn't be posting on fucking 4chan with dickgirl hentai and vagina eel JAV.

Give me a fucking break with your holier-than-thou attitude and get the fuck out of 4chan if you can't take it.

I JUST WISH THE TRIPFAGS COULD LEARN TO NOT DO THIS SHIT TOO.

FUCK YEAH! I do actually try to produce decent photos, which generally dont actually go down as OMFGSHITSUX (because its landscape/urban and no one knows what to say either way).

you haven't been around long enough, then. thefamilyman is one of the best photographers on this board, and he doesn't get bogged down in gear shit.

same with iprod. des also knows vintage gear probably better than serenar (he's up there with warren), but i don't think he posts anymore.

Since this is a tripfag/drama thread, my life has been far far too hectic to go out and take photos, my spare time is spent just trying to recover from my workload. I'm back at Uni soon, so its either going to be much easier on me or kill me.

/p/ is OK lots of the time but it's usually like a typical photo forum. Them that can't critique them that either can or are learning.
>> Anonymous
>>255591
Typical photo forum is all about.
"Awesome shot, come check my gallery"
and people not able to take any critics.

I like /p/ for bashing my photos and showing me what I`m doing wrong.
>> Anonymous
that's why i never post pics here anymore.....

I just come here to see what pics OP's have posted on the first few pages, and see if that sparks any ideas for myself.

other than that I have realized that people on here and just the generic internet troll that talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Their main goal in life is to drag others down to their pitiful level of self worth

anyhow, goodluck with pleasing yourself in your photos, that is where original style comes from, its not a copy&paste world.
>> Tails
I wonder how /p/ would change if we couldn't post anonymously.

it really is the last place to get honest (though cruel) feedback on the internet. And those with nothing to post just start gearthreads anyway...

i've been convinced for a long time that the only way to ever fix /p/ is to force trip. but that's so anti-4chan that it'll never happen.

it's ironic, too, since this is the one board on 4chan that actually matters and has anything of value to offer to anyone.
>> Anonymous
not a very good shot
>> soulr !lK4GD5SleY
>>255639
Ha!
This photo is clearly boring by intention, the place is a rural village in the middle of nowhere near some beaches, the cars are the tourist peak time and even so, the place remains the same as it was during winter, boring, by awakening the boring sentiment in you my photo succeeded in its main intention.

see, I can convince a gallery curator to expose it because my boring style is fresh and innovative, also, Duchamp is ma homie
>> Anonymous
>>255604
I second this man.

This is all a pack of bullshit. You criticize those shitty trends, and I agree with that, but even past that, you all just drag everyone down anyways, so it doesn't make any difference. If you dont say it has too much vignetting, there's not enough vignetting.
>> Anonymous
If you can't take hearing that your shit sux (not saying it does in reality) from someone who is completely anonymous, how do you ever think you're going to hold up to criticism in real life, by people who may actually know something?
I knew I reach a milestone when someone very close to me said that one of my shots, that I liked very much was boring and I didn't have a meltdown. If you can't take the heat, I am sorry to say, you're better off never letting anyone see your stuff

I'd say that 1/3 of crit here is by trolls
1/3 by people who aren't that evolved and 1/3 by people who are trying to be helpful, or at least share what they know.
>> Anonymous
>>255684
The critiques still get nowhere. I've taken /p/'s beating several times, knowing what to expect. I've come to expect nothing, of aid, however, so this place in my eyes is pretty much a waste.

I'm no good photographer, I am quite clear on that concept. But even I have got decent compliments (or at least truely constructive criticism) when I upload my photos to /p/. That said, theres the requisite shitsux and tits or GTFO comments, but I'd rather have the shitsux than the "This Photo is added to THAT IS PURE ART!!! Flickr group and shit". Truth is, I have learned more from the trolls on /p/ than from all other online communities.

Here's to /p/, the most civilized board on 4chan.

Agreed, actually. /p/ can be really good if you filter out the few (Mostly posting as anonymous) faggots that just come in here to stir things up.
>> NatureGuy !se3A3TwzdY
The reason a lot of people have given up on decent content threads, like how to do _____ well and have given up on critiques is that no body seems to bother listening to them.

Anon needs to trip up and show progress and other tripfags need to show progress in their work in response to direct and good criticism. Then maybe we'd actually get some more people that give real feedback instead of the asspats we all can get at deviantART or flickr.

>>255780

I can't even begin to count the number of good, honest crits I gave to DC and Beethy that they just totally ignored.

If you're going to ignore crits then you're going to get trolled.

Why the fuck are you even posting if you're going to ignore anything anyone says that isn't an asspat?
>> soulr !lK4GD5SleY
Frankly every time I made a thread I've never had /p/ say "shit sux" and the usual lines, the only "problem" was usually the few responses/opinions I get, can't complain about /p/, yet.
