Some decent shots here. I think they need less DOF.>>51759Is probably the best.

And hey, where's the self portrait?

This one is good. All the others look like casual snapshots.

>>51853
Agreed on the less DoF, and I'm usually not fond of small DoF effects.

when you say some other countries you mean every other one except america.

when america DOESNT have the most nukes in the world, THEN we can call it futbol

Nuclear weapons is nowhere as important as trade treaties when it comes to diplomatic power.

As to culture, it does not depend on diplomatic power.

Eat an ant.

>>52403
But Nuclear Power can steer countries into agreeing with certain trade treaties
>> Anonymous
>>52412
Agreed. If nuclear power isn't important, why are countries like Iran and North Korea trying to develop it?

It is an extremely important bargaining tool.

ITT people who took their foreign relations lessons from /k/.

Nukes are almost an irrelevancy for the major world powers today. Nuclear weapons are useful in three situations:

1. Equally matched sides facing M.A.D., ala the Cold War (NATO vs. Warsaw Pact) or in Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four (the three superstates).

2. An otherwise weak state or group going for broke against a much more powerful state.

3. An otherwise weak state ruled by some tinheaded oligarch(s) looking to freak the shit out of more powerful states to get them to the negotiating table to get stuff out of them.

Why? Think about it. What would seriously happen if the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Russia, or any of the other nuclear powers used one tomorrow? Simple. They'd become an international pariah, seen as monsters and war criminals, and possibly even face a civil crisis at home.

Any state they would be using it against would be less than equally matched, unless someone went insane and took a major world power to war against another allied major world power, because, protip, all the most powerful states in the world are to one extent or another allies and trade partners.

TL;DR read some actual stuff about foreign relations and realize the world is much more complicated than who can win penis contents.

Oh, and it's "football."

every now and then using fictional books as arguing points is cool

Look at the Star Wars Original Trilogy. Deathstar. Noone else had one. People did nothing. Whats that? Alderaan? Peaceful planet? Not anymore, because it got 'sploded.
>> Anonymous
>>52432
Of course fictional sources can be used; that wasn't my point. My point was people who read, say, Tom Clancy's work, and imagine they know how things are done as good as someone who reads, say, The Economist.

As for your argument, that was because the Empire was the only major force in the galaxy. They were the only ones with Death Stars and they answered to no one, on a moral or a, for lack of a better term, social level.
>> Anonymous
All of your points suggest that nuclear weapons do, in fact, have uses.

Of course they're not the only bargaining tool, but you can't say they're irrelevant.

It's not the east or the west side.
No it's not.
It's not the north or the south side.
No it's not.
It's the Dark side.
You are correct.
Keep frontin' the Empire
To all you Vader-haters out there, we'll blow your planet up!

What is thy bidding my master?
It's a disaster, Skywalker we're after.
What if he could be turned to the Dark side?
Yes, he would be a powerful ally, another Dark Jedi.
He will join us or die.

We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
We got death star.(Death Star)
And you know that we got it.(Death Star)
And you know that we got it.(Death Star)

Use one does not apply in today's world. It may very well apply again one day, but it doesn't now.

Two and three do not relate to America's stock of nuclear weapons, which is the issue ITT. For instance,>>52402.
