I've heard and read a fair bit about eating disorders, but this doesn't seem to fit any of the descriptions. My problem is that, fairly often, I plainly forget, or am too lazy to eat. It's like I haven't the desire and sense of self-preservation or something, such as when it's late in the afternoon and I've yet to have anything apart from a light breakfast and a few cups of coffee, I come to think about eating, and reach the decision of "lol too much hassle, l8r". This may not sound much, but as I'm yet again at the point where I wonder if I collapse before I make it to the grocery store and home again I'm starting to see a pattern considerable as, if not as a sickness, then at least something severely harmful to myself. Could someone give a bit of sage advice, before I wind up as a very embarassing notion in the Darwin awards?

lol, advice from 4chan.

Get on an eating schedule. Keep your house stocked with groceries. Prepare multiple meals at a time and keep them in your fridge.

All those will reduce the "eh, such a hassle" feeling that you get.

Mostly, you just have to make yourself do it, though.

Hmm... well, that's how it's always been. Strange enough, though, I remember having an appetite to drive me before.

The greatest joke of all in this is, that I'm studying to become a chef at the moment.

Maybe you just want to stay thin by not eating and have convinced yourself to not feel hungry. Sounds just like someone I used to know.

There are many things that can cause loss of appetite and lassitude. Depression and lack of exercise are among them.

Try jogging.

Hmm. That sounds like sage advice, actually. Thanks, anon. I haven't excercised in ages, as there's little time left between school and work.

Are you my doppleganger? I was going to reply how I feel the same. It's not intentional, just laziness that I forget to/don't eat or just sort of lightlygraze and not have an actual meal. And now that I've started biking to classes, I'm starting to find that there are days where I'm just so exhausted I don't feel like I can do anything.

I too am in culinary school, and work at a hotel. I found that I started feeling ambivelent/lazy about food around the time I started taking classes/working in kitchens. It's like... Nothing even seems worth it to prepare, outside of breakfast. Nothing is appetizing, and I don't give enough of a shit to get up and make anything, anyway.

Mostly you just have to force it. Or try to come up with something unusual and tasty to make, or pilfer from work (I couldn't keep my hands of some fucking pate the other day).
