hi guys.
After a lengthy time without any exercise I started playing on an intramural basketball team and I've been getting horribly winded with wheezing and lung pains literally within 2 minutes of playing.

It's really embarassing!

I guess I need to increase my 'vo2' max???

What should I do to quickly increase it? Sprints? Long distance running? Just play as much basketball as possible?

Long distance running or just playing more basketball. Sprinting has very little effect on your VO2max.

HIIT is suggested to increase your VO2 max.

do something very akin to basketball, like suicides.

cardio activities don't carry over to other cardio activities,

ie just because you are good at cycling doesn't mean you will be good at running/swimming.
