/fit/, I came to your board out of curiosity, and now my curiosity has experienced multiplication. I must know of your HIIT and tabata squats. I know what the former is from one of the threads, but not the specific benefits. Youtube has given me a visual understanding of the tabata squats, but more information is appreciated, including results and the details of execution.

Pic related.

/fit/-u-chan, I know what you are thinking. You think: Chun-Li has such fantastic pants in that picture. Look at them. They have fucking clouds on them. They flare. They are Best Pants. But you must ignore them, blank your mind, focus on the void and share your dark workout secrets.

hahaha, I love you.

A Tabata interval workout is 20 seconds working with 10 seconds rest repeated 8 times in a row. You can row to it, push to it, even fap to it if you want, but you have to follow that general scheme for whatever exercise you're using.

And the squats? Always with the squats on Youtube. Also, does Tabata need to be done to the Black Music? Because that's what the internet seems to be suggesting to me.

The Tabata can be done to any kind of music, provided it is not from Hungary, Sweden, Cairo, Mexico or Bolivia.

Tabata is commonly done with squats, situps/crunches, pushups, pullups, rowing, or anything other kind of exercise you can think of. The goal is to do as many reps as you can in each 20 seconds of work.

And the goal? Is it a calorie burning thing, or cardio, or what-the-have-thou? It seems like it's just a variant of HIIT. Also, what does HIIT stand for?

Tabata is essentially a type of HIIT. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. When people talk about HIIT, they're generally referring to running; Tabata is like HIIT for every other exercise (though you could Tabata sprints too). HIIT is done by varying between sprints and jogging, with longer sprint intervals and shorter jogging intervals as fitness develops usually for 10 to 15 minutes.

The point of the workouts is to be awesome at everything. It burns calories better than a 'regular' workout, keeps your body burning more calories for longer after you stop working out, taxes your cardio system harder, and trains muscles to the point of exhaustion quickly so they can be built back up.

If you haven't tried either of them before, and aren't overweight/obese I'd recommend you try the following workout for an experience of what it's like. Tabata Squats, Situps, Pushups, and if you have a bar, Pullups, if not then do Knee Jumps (Jump up, bring knees up as high as you can, land, repeat). Do each exercise for 8 cycles as described by>>72676and after each exercise, rest 1 minute and then do the next. The entire workout will take you 20 minutes.

It's 20 minutes of your time, and it will be worth your time, because you'll learn something new, even if you don't like it.

If you're overweight/obese, this will be too intense for you. You could try the same thing but with reduced number of cycles (4 or 5 maybe) or with shorter work and longer rest if you need it (15 and 15 maybe).

And how many days a week? The things I am learning in the twisting warrens of /fit/.

Whatever you do (cardio, weights, tabata) workout once a day. Workout again when you're no longer sore. The amount of time it takes you to recover depends on the intensity of the workout and your fitness levels. The first time I did a Tabata I was sore for four days. If you're sore for four days, rest for four days. If you're not sore the next day, workout again, and if you're trying to build muscle, increase the intensity of the workout.

has to be black music. it has been scientificly proven that not doing it to black music will not illicit the same endorphin response, as you will not be constantly afraid that niggers are going to break into your house and steal all your shit.

Hah.

Anyways, OP, the goal of it is to increase your VO2Max. I don't know too much of the science behind it but it increases your threshold of kicking ass apparently. Like the higher your VO2Max the more rocks you can crush with your mind and shit, it's pretty awesome.

I'm not sure what a VO2Max is. A phone? I bet it's a phone.

not the same guy who mentioned VO2Max, but it stands for maximal oxygen consumption.

"is the maximum capacity of an individual's body to transport and utilize oxygen during incremental exercise, which reflects the physical fitness of the individual"
