Upper Body Workout? Anonymous
heya /fit/ i need your advice on how to improve my upper-body condition. Thing is, I ride my bike all day, so legs and cardio are fine, but my upper body is completely lacking. I should probably just take up swimming eh .. thing is, water just isnt my thing. And weight rooms kinda get me down too. I like being outdoors.. anything to be done?

Break into peoples houses that have "beware of dog" signs and wrestle their dogs into submission. Not only will you get stronger, but you'll also learn to defend yourself. If you can subdue a pissed off dog, people should be no problem.

Find an outside pull-up bar or something and do those. Push-ups are good. You can do dips from narrow rails, like on a walkway. Buy some dumbbells and curl them outside. Take up boxing -- my brother hangs a heavy bag from a large tree branch. Play basketball or tennis.

If you really want a nice upper body (and lower, for that matter) you might try rowing. If there are any rivers or lakes near where you live, people probably take skulls out -- maybe you can borrow or rent one and try it.

Yard work is great fucking exercise. See if anyone needs anything dug up or planted or chopped with an ax. I know someone who works for a landscaping service part time because the job basically guarantees that he stay ripped and tanned.

I'm not sure what they're called, but there are bikes that you can pedal by hand that handicap guys use. I don't know how averse you are to riding a handicap bike, but if the outdoors are important to you, there you go.

I very much like this thread, please everyone keep the ideas going EXACTLY the same. Just because I use weights, well, a weight-room, let's not introduce those domesticated measured devices. My goal is to climb trees.

I'm in exactly (almost) the same situation as you. In order 1. My upper body has almost nil development, except some arms. 2. I bike daily 45 minutes at least. 3. Water isn't my thing either

I can't do pullups, well, only 1 in the extreme circumstance to save my life. Otherwise I just hang there for 15 seconds, then I die and give up and fall.
