sup /fit/, I'm in kind of a dilemma, a doctor of mine (not a physical therapist, not my general doctor)

has suggested me to NOT do any upper body lifting, and over the past few months I've been listening to his advice and have been only doing cardio but as of lately I've really been feeling the urge to lift

anyway my question is, say you have muscle pain in an area. would lifting help this overall?

I understand the initial lift will cause quite abit more soreness and pain overall but I feel like in the long run I'm really fucking over my upper body by literally doing nothing to improve it

why did he suggest that?

because I'm in chronic pain from a TMJ disorder

No lifting cause your jaw is messed up?
>> Anonymous
depends on what kind of pain you have and what kind of exercises you plan on doing

Consult a doctor and ask him if it's fuckin stupid to lift anyway, which it probably is if he's telling you specifically not to do it.

general practitioners are usually morons, goto a specialist

OP is probably trolling. I have TMJ and it's just a clicking/popping thing when I move my jaw, would never stop me from lifting.

are you retarded? TMJ isn't just that and it's completely different with every person, for me I have chronic pain from my shoulders up to my scalp

basically is what he said, no upper body. he said elliptical/stationary bike till I die, but he said running wouldnt even be good due to the impact
