I am 25 years old, 6'2, approx 160 lbs. I am a skinny fuck. I have no strength, no noticible muscle, nothing. And I am sick of it. I have in my possession a bench and a 50kg Barbell/dumbell kit. I have no money for gym at present. I need to sort my body out but I don't really know where to start as I have read so many conflicting opinions online about fbs, splits etc etc.

My diet is a farce at the moment and whilst not necessarily unhealthy, I have not been eating enough which I now intend to put right. Realistically, what can I expect to achieve within 6 months if I get a decent routine figured out and eat shitloads, do creatine, supplements etc? I know its a long haul but is 6 months a decent timeframe to start seeing proper results?

6 months is a decent timeframe to get started. HOWEVER, do not lose your motivation if you're not getting the exact results you want right away.

Lurking on this site, I've seen that most people say you can put on only 10-15 lbs of lean mass in a year.

Improve your diet, workout w/ proper rest periods, I would read strong lifts 5x5 program to get started.

you will get decent results after 6 months if you stick with it. you will probably be happy with it and want to continue but remember you're not building muscle you're building strength! you will notice your strength improve week in week out. Chart this progress so you can see it, set yourself goals and try to work out how much you should be able to lift in another 6 months.
This all provides you with a good bit of motivation to keep you going, the muscles just come you wont really notice it but other people will.

in 6 months you should be able to achieve so that 50 kg barbell in benchpress is far from enough.

Just eat a lot and train hard.

Youre a beginner, so youll have beginner gains and therefore results most likely will appear.

MOST IMPORTANT!! start out slow with low weights on whatever you do (you can torrent fitness books). Your body needs to "get used" to weightlifting. You start out trying to do mad weight you will end up fucking up your shoulders.

So dont be afraid for the first month, to just go for an hour and not really get sore or anything, just use enough weight so you can lift that bar 12 times in a row and be like "ah, that was good, i can do that two more times with 2 minutes rest between each set".

5x5 is for powerlifters who alrready lift = bullshit for us skinneys. just be careful dont let anyone be like "oh you only bench 60 pussy" i benched 60 for 6 months slow and steady (moved up later) now im ripped as hell.
