Hey /fit/. I've decided that I'm tired of being overweight once and for all, so I was hoping for some advice to get me on track to getting in shape.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for shortcuts. I'm sure you get a lot of "halp how do I stop being fat" posts, so to start off I'll state: yes, I know the only way to drop fat is to eat healthy and exercise. I can cover the eating healthy part, what I need help with is exercise.

The problem is, I live in the country--so there are no sidewalks or safe roads where I can run, bike, or even powerwalk. I'm also in a climate which is either too fucking hot or too fucking cold for outdoor exercise the majority of the year. There are no gyms convenient, and I'd prefer not to invest in an exercise machine.

So what kinds of exercise would be best for me? I'm not particularly interested in gaining muscle (I already have a naturally big frame), and my current plan is to make 30 minutes of cardio exercise a daily habit (and maintain it even after dropping my extra weight). But I'm unsure about what kinds of exercise would be best considering I don't really have the space or equipment for it. I've read that crunches and such aren't really effective. I'm considering buying a stationary bike or elliptical machine, but I'd rather wait until after I form good exercise habits before I start dropping money on it. I'm not so fat that I'm physically impaired, but I'm also not athletic in the slightest--so sports aren't a solution for me.

tl;dr; what would be the easiest and best way for an overweight guy to start an exercise regimen with limited equipment and space?

>I live in the country

Go run on the dirt. Or roadside. There's gotta be one of the two there. Dirt = Lower impact either way.

>I'm also in a climate which is either too fucking hot

Good carry water, you'll burn more calories from sweating.

>I'm considering buying a stationary bike or elliptical machine

Treadmill if anything but outdoor HIIT > all.

BTW op what are your stats? Height, Weight, Age? And which state do you live in where it gets too hot and too cold?

Farmers are rarely fat. Manual labour jobs are rarely fat. You mean "There's a reason I'm fat." Because it's easier to rule out possibilities so you don't have to try, then try.

Run on those back roads, the uneven terrain is goood for you.

Holy shit, sorry /fit/. I figured "hey what's the best way for a beginner to ease into exercise" would be a welcome change from "HALP HOW DOES I STOP BEING FAT WITH NO EFFORT BAWWW" but apparently I was wrong.

I'm not looking for something to drop my weight instantly and then stop. I'm not looking for high-grade multiple-hour training regimens. I'm just looking for tips for simple routines to improve my health and metabolism.

>Farmers are rarely fat.

Are you fucking kidding? I take it you've never been outside a city. Obesity is rampant in rural areas, far more so than in the city. When nothing is close enough to walk to, it tends to decrease the health of the population.

HIIT, high intensity interval training. jog for 2 minutes, sprint your ass off for 30 seconds, jog for 2 minutes, sprint your ass off for 30 seconds, and do that for like 15 minutes. Obviously increase sprint times and decrease jog times as you improve in health, but that should be doable by you.

Saying it nicely doesn't make it different. I grew up in a town of 5,000 people. I ran on those backroads. As long as you stay close to the curb, there will never be a problem. You just want an excuse to not have too run. Unfortunately, the only way you're going to lose weight in your cicumstance is to run. There's no other way, so hit the streets.

Do you have a job? You're going to need money to improve your diet and metabolism. It won't be expensive, but you'll be looking to drop about 100-150$ more then usual on groceries a month.

Use the BMR to find your needed calorie intake and create a deficiency of 200 calories. If you stop eating shitty food, it'll be a lot easier then you think.

IF you've got access to no normal equipment, get two milk jugs and a sang bag, fill them with sand. There are some basic weights that can be used in a bodyweight regime.
