Bodybuilding R3ZA
Hey /fit/,

I've been bodybuilding as a hobby since for almost 4 years now. If anyone is familiar with bodytypes, I would rank as an extreme ectomorph. I started lifting at 124 lbs at 5'10, which as you can imagine, is very, very skinny.

Now, I'm at 162 ish, same height, relatively low bodyfat % (i estimate it at 8-10%)

Basically, I'd just like to know if there is anyone out there who has an unbiased opinion on the sport.

I can't even count how many ways bodybuilding has improved my life, from the obvious physical benefits, to the increased self esteem around friends, and just being able to say that I am part of a sport.

Im so damn tired of people viewing this sport as taboo. Indeed, IFBB Pro's use steroids to maintain appearances. We all know that, and yes, we are all aware of how they are proportioned. But this, at least to me, is an art. Many other sports condition a body to look a certain way, so why shouldn't bodybuilding? The ideal is to resemble a Grecian/roman statue. I'd rather look like that then look like a pencil with huge tree trunk legs because im a cyclist, but thats just me.

I would encourage anyone who is skinny and wishes to gain some muscle mass to take up bodybuilding as a hobby. I for one havent really been a fan of competative sports, which is why this particular one is so great, because as a hobby, its all up to you how far you go. And its pretty cheap - just a set of dumbells and a barbell; Pretty basic.

To me, its a great lifestyle.

I think people only consider it a taboo when you mention the word "bodybuilding" which people tend to associate with oversized,roid-freak.If you just call it "working out" no one seems to have a problem with it

If OP pic is really OP, then OP is quite gorgeous. I am also into bodybuilding, although the girly subcutaneous fat makes it harder to see my muscles. I know I'm stronger though, so it's worth it.

as i've read, keeping the bodyfat low is what allows the abs to show, therefor its important to increase their size.

I usually do weighted cruches, leg raises til failure, then light oblique work, all with 20 seconds of rest between sets.

Your right, they do react less when I mention this. When I was younger, I viewed the big guys and their huge bodies at gross too, until I realized just how much work it takes to get there. Then you seem to develop an appreciation for it.
