Hiya /fit/.

So, I'm sure there are a ton of posts like these, but I could use some help.

I've been a big guy all my life, but up until recently it hasn't been a problem. I've played contact sports my whole life, and I played two years of defensive lineman for a Division I football team in college. I'm only 5'9, and my last year of football I weighed in at 270 pounds, but I could probably still outrun the average schmuck easily. (pic obviously isn't me, but very similar to my body type for much of my athletic career)

However, I'm now out of college and in the working world, and without the structure of organized athletics to keep me in shape, my weight has started to become an issue. I'm up to 350 pounds, and while I'm still quite muscular, it's definitely starting to take its toll.

So, tl;dr, I what I'm asking for is a workout routine that will help me get some of this weight off. All the workout routines I did in college were designed to make me bigger, the practices themselves took care of the bulk of the cardio. I've already started cutting the shitty food out of my diet, and I've lost about 5 pounds already in about a week, but I don't think just eating well is enough to make me healthy.

I'm also planning on playing lacrosse in a men's league this summer, which will help keep me active, but I'd like to not be embarrassed when I show up for it. Any help you guys could give me would be fantastic and much appreciated.

if you want to not be a fat fuck....eat ONLY fruits, veggies, lean protein, and ONLY whole grains. take a good multivitamin, a calcium supplement, and omega 3 fish oil caplets. drink black coffee and green tea, no sugar, no cream. when u go to the gym, first lift, then run on the treadmill in order to burn the fat. if you must, take a protein supplement after your workouts to help muscle repair.

if he actually played div1 ball, he'd probably manrape you. you could probably run away pretty easily though.

anyways OP, since everyone is being sooooo helpful, the canned response to any "how do I lose teh weights" query is HIIT. not sure why everyone is being such a cunt about it, they're usually more helpful.

5'9" and 350?

Enjoy your morbid obesity.

OP

You should eat more numerous, smaller meals during the day (if possible) as well as doing a workout based on endurance strength training with cardio thrown in...

Endurance strength training burns more calories than bulking up since your body is doing more work and doing a cardio routine like HIIT is probably the fastest way for you to burn off the fat.

Eating healthy won't get you where you want to be since you'll probably be losing muscle as well as fat if all you're doing is toning down the diet, so your overall weight loss will be concealing muscle loss as well. HIIT should be able to simulate the cardio type workouts you used to do.

HIIT twice a day for you. Lots of veggies also

>Endurance strength training

By this, you mean low rest period between sets, right?
