I am 19 years old, male, 5 foot 7 and a half and 175 pounds. I'm overweight (not by a huge amount, but it's noticeable if I'm not wearing a shirt) and I need to not be overweight anymore, basically. I didn't used to be like this; in fact, for most of my life it's been just the opposite. I weigh myself every week and keep records, dating back to about 2004...in February 2006 I was 17 years old and still 5 foot 7 and a half, but I was 125 pounds and literally did not have any body fat anywhere. Not a lot of muscle either, but who cares. That's roughly what I would like to go back to...if not 125, then at least under 150.
From the end of 2006 through the first half of 2007 I was averaging between 130 and 135 and in July of 2007 I was 133 pounds, which is when I got my driver's license and is what it still lists my weight as on there. In September of 2007 I was put on a new medication by my doctor which literally made me gain almost 30 pounds in a month, even though nothing else (my diet, exercise, daily routine etc) had changed at all. By October 2007 I was 162 pounds, which my doctor realized was a drastic increase, and I was taken off the medicine as a result. Since then I have simply not been able to get rid of all that extra weight, and recently it's gone up from averaging around 160 (Oct '07 - March '08) to between 170 and 175. I have this fat in my stomach, ass and thighs which I definitely did not have a year ago and which I want to eliminate very badly. So far I've tried all kinds of things, but nothing has worked...I've tried watching what I eat, exercising (running, biking and hiking are mainly what I've done so far) but every day I weigh in and I'm still between 170 and 175. Any suggestions for what I can do to get rid of this excess fat and go back down to anywhere between 120 and 140 like I used to be? Something fairly short term instead of long term (6+ months) would be preferable, but all advice is welcome.

Fun Fact: Muscle mass raises the metabolism drastically, as does weight training in general. All of your pain could have been avoided had you just hit the weight room a few times, and not attempted to keep up the metro sexual look.

Your metabolism has gone out of fucking whack, and now it's so low, that the fat is basically stuck on your body with no way of coming off.

Bulk up, attempt to gain at least twenty pounds of muscle, then cut, the fat will practically melt off.

Unless you have a thyroid problem.

Start taking Vitamin B, it'll help your metabolism get higher and thus will help you lose weight while still being able to, you know, eat food.
Also, keep running, jogging, walking, hiking, biking, whatever, it won't hurt. A few months of that kind of exercise 3 or 4 times a week plus vitamins plus not eating shit all the time = weight loss.
