greetz /fit/izens.

what i´d like to know is... would 60 minutes of 30-sec sprints followed by 2´30" cooldowns qualify as HIIT? everyday thing, bike/cross country ski machine, resistance to the point where I can keep 150 HR, sprintz up to 175 or so. gets harder around 20 minutes, I usually lower resistance right then. 27y/ofag here btw

also, any benefit in such long HIIT? did it a couple hours ago, just slightly sore, otherwise feels good man

amidoinitrite?

pic completely unrelated

That isn't HIIT but if it works for you then go for it man. I wouldn't call that sprinting more like running but if it works for you then don't sweat it.

harder sprinting
the fact you can do it for an hour means you are slacking off

It IS HIIT.

It doesn't matter how long your rest periods are, as long as you have intervals at 80-90% max HR followed by recovering intervals down to 50-60% HR.

I'm not sure, but I think HIIT should be like 1/1 ratio.

Also, I've heard that if you can last more than 6 minutes in 30 sec full-powered sprints, with similar intervals, you're doing it wrong. HIIT is supposed to exhaust the shit out of you

op here, what do I have to do in order to bring it to HIIT standard? shorter cooldowns?
and I do go all-out on the sprint, it´s just short enough that I don´t go over 90%HR
can´t say how much it´s worked but I like doing it, bit more fun than straight fat burn/cardio

op here, btw I tend to hike resistance just prior to the sprint and lower it on the cooldown. otherwise the bike/x-ski machine would probably shake itself apart
