4 Liters of water is perfectly safe. A normal, healthy person not taking any medication is at almost no risk of any ill effects from over-consumption of water. Your body can excrete 1 liter per hour without strain, and it takes a significant excess over this to actually put you in danger. You're really only at significant risk if you are taking an anti-diuretic, or under extreme heat/exertion stress (eg, actually running at that moment in a marathon). A person without a risk factor would need to consume multiple gallons in a very short time period to be in danger.
Anecdotally, I personally drink a gallon a day, going up to two a day while cutting. I'm still alive and yelling at people on the internets.
I swear, it's as if people heard there was something called "water toxicity", and then did absolutely no further research, instead just deciding to make up their own facts as they went along.
