Marathonfags report in. I'm doing my first marathon in Chicago on the 12th of October.

Just ran 20 miles today with a time of 3:21.
>> Anonymous
At first I was gonna say 3 minutes? But then I thought harder and figured it was 3 hours. GL fellow runner! Except I'm a sprinter -.-
>> Anonymous
A could never do a marathon, maybe a half marathon, but never the whole thing.

I'll stick to simple cross country and sprinting.

thats cool. i've been running long distance for a while now...just starting to set goals and race here and there. the mwr (morale welfare and recreation organization) doesn't schedule a lot of marathons where i'm stationed, just a lot of shorter races.

i really want to get into triathlons...but we only have a half iron man every year...and we only have a marathon once a year too. so i guess i'm stuck doing these shorter races and training until then.

I just started running in June. Progressed my mile pretty well. I just recently broke the 6minute mark and closing in on 5:30. I Hope to break 5 minutes by end of year.

wow a long distance running thread? on my /fit?
what a pleasant relief from all the squatz/musclez threads.

running my first half marathon this easter leading up to the london, new york or boston marathon in 2010 depending on where i am living.

This thread is lacking SQUATZ.
>> Anonymous
squatz =stronger abs and core = better for marathon.

squatz quota has been met
>> Anonymous
Is it better for a marathoner to have lots of muscle or less?

idk how you guys do it, been running couple months at 6 mph started at 1 mile, up to 2.25 miles. I feel like death after that run

Ran the LA Marathon last March, my first official marathon. Clocked out at 4 hours and a minute under bad personal conditions, but my best in practice ever was 3:15ish. Trained two weeks for that shit--you either want it or you don't. Might not want it so bad anymore now though.

Um you mean 2:12 marathons? 4:30 isn't even like 6 mph.
>> Anonymous
