/fit/, what are some good tips for someone joining a martial arts class after having not done it since I was about 5. I barely remember taking it or anything so I might as well not have.

Pic unrelated but pretty cool.

Anyway, just wondering if theres etiquette or common fuckups. Also tips and suggestions would help a lot.

It looks like Kung Fu and Taekwondo are my only options, any suggestion on which?.. theres also a family martial arts center but they aren't specific so I doubt that would be worth it. (I'm currently in a small town)

Please /fit/ I spend a lot of time in here helping under Anonymous and don't want to walk into an academy looking like a douche.

Just join one if you want to learn self-defense. (Personally, I'd go for Kung-Fu). Those aren't very good cardio if you ask me.

That's good because I'm not fat and the last thing I need is cardio. I am just looking for learning to fight/defend myself and gaining muscle (which I'm doing by working out)
