Dear /fit/,

A lot of you seem to use 'squats' in a sarcastic manner, but are squats actually the best exercise possible?

We worship SQUATZ because they ARE the best excercise. If you were to choose only 1 excercise to do for your entire life and nothing else, it would be squatz. They work almost every musslez in your boddy.

They're not necessarily the best exercise possible. But squats are a great foundation for a program, they're an intensive exercise that triggers reactions in your body which lead to greater gains from everything else. They also work your legs and core amazingly but that's been said.

The perfect exercise is a full Olympic lift...

They're safe if you do them with good form and don't load up with too much weight, like squats.

The clean and jerk and the snatch doesn't work like the squat does, because they are dependant on so many other things than the squat, like balance, dexterity and force.
For example, try doing 10 repetition heavy snatch set and see what happens. When you start reaching some level of fatigue in your ATP-CP levels, the barbell speed starts dropping and it becomes impossible to do the explosive lifts with required speed.
The deadlift on the other hand is very similar to the squat considering it's requirements and metabolic feedback.
