Leg Presses Anonymous
Which machine for leg presses: straight horizontal, or angled (pictured)? Are there are advantages/disadvantages to either, or is it just a matter of preference?

I've tried both and free weights (squats and lunges) usually mix of squats and the leg press machine pictured on here. I find machines to be boring after a few uses as you don't use enough of the body so i am biased towards free-weights. It's always good to mix them up.

well, i dunno but i can't get enough weight on the leg press machine to work my legs and not upset my back, i got up to 630x10 and my legs didn't get sore but i tweaked my lower back and it hurt for two days.. squats on the other hand <3

Your core (not abs) is freaking weak and adding more weight on machines will fuck it up more. Do some romanian deadlifts

probably rubber coated, or bumper plates in case its dropped.. they had rubber coated weights at one of the gyms i went to, was like a quarter inch of rubber coating

OP here. I also do squats using a V-Squat rack. For some reason the barbells at my gym make them a hassle (I do nearly 100 pounds more on a the V-Squat than with barbells).

V-squats don't count. Those are for people who are too scared to do back squats. Look dude if you want big and/or strong legs you're gonna have to do back squats and/or front squats. Leg press, leg extensions, hack squats, lunges, and step ups are all awesome, but they're nothing in comparison to squats.

Holy crap i just looked them up and they are expensiv, $100+.
As I look at the shoe I notice that they are pretty flat and thin, which is great for squatting, deadlifting etc. If you have money like that to throw around then by all means try em.
