Something weird :3 Anonymous
ok /fit/ this is really weird

for the past month, i've cut off all processed foods (except lean pockets every now and then), i eat a lot of fish and have 2-3 servings of fruit and vegetables everyday, i take karate and do bastketball after school, and at home i do pullups and use dumbells. But i haven't lost a pound. Not a single one, although i feel that I've lost fat and I feel healthier. Am I bulking and cutting at the same time? oh, and I still have man boobs (the only kind of estrogen i take is a small trace of it in flaxseeds) and they haven't shrunk at all. What's wrong with me /fit/?

no i don't think it's genetics. I mean, my family is on the large side, but i'm more lean than my brothers (built more like my mom and sister)

btw i'm a guy

if you're eating 2-3 servings of fruit and vegetables a day and yet eating six small meals a day, what are you eating for the other 3-4 meals?

worry more about fat mass than body weight. so unless you know your body fat percentage, you don't know where to start.

PROTIP: muscle weighs more than fat.

As for manboobs, that'll be one of the last places for the fat to go away, since you'll be burning off fat from your gut and ass first.

Muscle weights more than fat, so you could be gaining a little muscle/lose a lot of fat and still weigh the same.

And the "man-boobs" is most likely a bit of excess skin. You may need to do more chest-intensive exercises.
>> Anonymous
You still have the manboobs because you most likely aren't doing exercises that are working your chest and pectoral muscles. I'm guessing you are only doing curls?

mainly dairy and carbohydrates

so wait, fat around the chest area get's lost last?
>> Anonymous

nah, i do pullups, get a sandbag and do lifts with them and use dumbells. Believe me I'm doing chest excersies, but nothing seems to be movi

Best way to see if you're making muscles and losing fat is to measure yourself. If you are gaining muscle and losing fat you should lose cms/inches.

Depends on your body. Some people lose fat around the chest faster, but still have a gut; for different people there are different problem areas.

that sounds alright. Maybe a little bit more cardio, but other than that you should be fine.

EAT MORE MOTHERFUCKING PROTEIN!

Also, do chest, back and leg exercises instead of curls.

the flaxseeds and fish give a lot of protein dude.

so what do you suggest for protein?

continuation: also, i'm a little bit vegetarian (with the exception of fish). And i'm not a PETA pussy, but I'm just not that much of a fan of meat. Every now and then I'll have a steak or some shit liek that, but other than that it's just fish for me

peanut butter... It has more protien than fish.

You COULD always find meat you do like. Poultry, burgers, more steak, ribs, etc.

Hope you didn't want any tryptophan. Incomplete source is incomplete.

are you a cute cuddly teddy bear?

OP:
What you're describing is not impossible. It's a good rule of thumb that cutting fat and building muscle are independent goals, but the two CAN happen at the same time.

Don't get used to it, it's mostly a beginner thing.

MUST have complete protein. tryptophan's the name of one of the like 10 thingies that make it complete.

incomplete proteins DON'T WORK. there's 9 pieces. think of it as a house being constructed in a yard. You've got roofs, doors, windows, some walls, the floor. When missing some parts, you can't have a complete house. The house doesn't work incomplete. Whatever you have the least of, that's your limiting factor. 2 doors, 16 roofs, 15 floors? Only get 2 homes, yo. That's like 13 floors wasted, out your ass.
