I need help..
I am 30, not overweight, (6ft ~90kg big frame) but not happy at all with my body at all.

I have smoked cigs since i was 9yo, I drink beer every weekend (think 48-62 beers) I eat like shit but only once a day (lazy vegetarian), I dont do any exercise really, except when Im practicing with my band ( grindcore vocals is a pretty hardcore cardio for unfit me)

I need to change my ways before I die or something.

Is there a resource I can check out to learn about how I can ease into exercise before I hit a gym (dont want to spend my sessions coughing a lung up, I want to be gym ready, yes i am terribly scared of gyms and gym culture)

I like bike riding, I was thinking that could be an option for me, if you keep your cadence up, is that a good beginners exercise? Does it just improve cardio or is it good for fat burning?

As for diet, I really want to be vegan again. Is that an option?

I want to like my body, and I want to be fit, and then maybe I wont feel the need to destroy myself with booze and weed and drugs.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Stop that then.

http://stronglifts.com/ is good.
Unless you have a serious injury, then don't baby yourself. Biking is good, and you'll probably need the cardio. But don't forget strength training.

>As for diet, I really want to be vegan again. Is that an option?

Yes, I am, and have been for years.

As for long term, habit is a million times more powerful than motivation.

Your prop best just going to the gym and taking it easy.

The first time you go your be sore for a day or two but after awhile your stop, not because your not doing enough but because you have gotten "fitter"

Seriously, that's just fucking disgusting.

Why do you want to be a vegan? Shit's unhealthy; eat meat.

re: veganism
I try to live how my social conscience dictates.
I love animals i don't want to eat them. I was brought up pretty much vegie.
that is just my personal take on it.

>>263304
thank you I really want to do this, I will check out that url now.

>I try to live how my social conscience dictates. I love animals i don't want to eat them.

You ARE an animal. Animals EAT EACH OTHER. If your body did not require the nutrients from meat, if it could effectively get them elsewhere, it wouldn't have evolved the ability to digest and process meat.

In conclusion: you have the biological capacity to eat animals, therefor you are supposed to eat animals.

You realize that people actually need protein right? You can call it a fallacy, but the fact is that you need the nutrition that meat provides, and going vegan is just compromising your nutritional intake. Based on what you've said about your smoking, drinking, and exercise habits for your whole life, I wouldn't recommend putting your body in any position where it has to make special effort to get the resources that it needs to keep going. I'm not fucking kidding here, you will collapse at some point.

You can make a moral stance and say that you won't eat meats that are produced by unethical farms, but the fact is that many of the products that you're denying are things that can be taken safely and humanely. Eggs and milk, for instance, don't put the animal in any danger. There are farms that raise chicken and cattle humanely and ethically. I don't eat beef myself for similar reasons. Over the last few years it has become apparent that the beef industry in particular has no regard whatsoever for safety either of the cattle or the consumer (which is which lol), but the ultimate conclusion to which I came was that my ethics-based issue should only extend to the point that the issue is a reality. If a place raises cattle ethically and keeps strict guidelines of safety to keep people healthy, then I'll eat there.

And besides that, if you're not going to stop smoking, then get off your high horse about being considerate and everything. You're bothering more living things with the rancid smell of your smoke than with your consumption of meat.

thank you for your well written critique.
I do what to quit smoking, i have not bought a packet of smokes in 2 days, and i have 3 left of my last packet. I am slowly going crazy but you are right. My filters fuck up the eco system, my smoke annoys other air breathers.
I dont know if i can eat meat, but I might stay vegie, I seriously am disgusted by the idea of consuming meat, do not get me wrong, I understand that humans are designed to be omnivores, i know we have canines for a reason.
I just choose not to eat meat and get protein elsewhere. I have strong opinions about animal rights I can not compromise at any cost.
On the /fit/ness side of things, i went for a 3 hour walk today, around the river (perth australia) mp3 player and the sun out. It was a good day.
I need to find a site that can help me eat healthy as a vegie, especially now I am trying a lifestyle change. Anyone have any url's?

>the fact is that you need the nutrition that meat provides
You can, and I do, get plenty of protein from plant sources. As well as every other nutrient your body needs, save for B12 in sufficient quantities, which can be gotten from a multivitamin (which you should be taking anyway).

OP, if you want to go vegan then do so. People saying it's unhealthy haven't done any research, and people saying you should eat meat because it's natural are just stupid (It's like nature has become the new Christianity or something).

Aww.. Before quitting any of your habits, you should try to fix your eating regimen. You're going to go insane if you quit smoking cold turkey...you should probably wean yourself off of it and without a healthy diet, you're just going to feel like shit. Same with beer, though it's easier to quit beer altogether.

Maybe you should stop being in a band, get a real job, find a nice boy to settle down with, and start a big people life. Then when you stop acting like a child you can start asking for advice.

You make me feel all warm and gooey inside.
Its OP here btw. (obviously)
On a positive note I have not killed anyone since I stopped smoking.
I am hungry as hell, I assume that is the fact smoking is a great appetite suppressor. I would kill for a smoke but I dont want to imagine what color my lungs are now.
I am just about to go out for a 3 hr walk, I am picking up a home gym this weekend. It is some piece of crap a friend of mine bought and never uses, has butterfly thingys (sorry I'm gym retarded) a bench some other useful looking stuff.
Also a few sets of free weights. I am going to take photos every week and document my journey into healthland.
Running always hurts the shit out of my knees and ankles, (I suspect my style is more of a retarded run, never really was sporty) so I'm going to try and find a cardio exercise that does not rape my leg joints.
Any suggestions?
