Hi /fit/, quick health question. I'm giving up soda and having shitty withdrawl symptoms from it (headache, lack of focus, bad mood)

Anything that could help me out at all? Not sure if this makes sense im feeling pretty stupid these past few days what with no sugar stuff and all

thanks

Stick with it, if you're REALLY REALLY struggling, have like a shot of soda once a day until you don't need it anymore. I've given up and I feel so young, fresh and vibrant, so it's definitely worth it.

drink tea, it makes the world go round

I don't know if I agree with shots of soda, because I really think it has a slippery slope effect. It's never satisfying enough.

once the habit is broken it's broken you'll be fine

Well I'm not going to shit propaganda at you, but I'm pretty sure you know water is better for you than coke. It's also cheaper and more readily accessible (coke doesn't run from taps).

If you really can't come off slowly, just go cold turkey and whenever you want a coke think about something else and get a glass of ice cold water instead.

When think about wanting a coke, hit your hand with a mallet.

Hey OP - I went through the exact same thing when I quit soda cold turkey in June. Or was it July? Either way it was during a big turning point in my life and I experienced your exact same symptoms. It basically took me a full week to get over the headaches and the moodiness.

Just try to drink water any time you're craving soda. It'll be way easier if it's really cold, so don't skimp on the ice cubes. If you don't have any obligations for the next couple of days, just try to take it easy and ride it out. It's totally worth it.

After you're over the hump, stay off soda 100% for as long as you can. If you're like me, you'll continue to get cravings down the road, but these days I can't finish any soda I start. It's just not good anymore - I take a sip and it's like ah fuck. I can't believe I've done this.

How long have you been giving up so far, OP?

A lot of addiction can just be psychological. When I had to quit coffee, as a four-cup a day drinker, it only took about three days or so to stop bugging me.

TL;DR Sports beans.

Two days? Yeah, just keep yourself well rested and well fed. Try to keep your mind off of it. You could also try drinking some carbonated, mildly flavored water to curb those cravings. I used LaCroix. Really strong carbonation out of the can with a little bit of fruit flavoring. Good stuff.

It's hard the first week or so you're off it.

I went about 3 years without any, and I feel wonderful.

I recently started going without it again, dropped it for the last 2 weeks easily.

You've just gotta find other things that satisfy you.

For me- I have water, sometimes with lemon juice in it.
And once in a while I'll have manly black coffee if I need the caffeine.
