Best reason not to is that some scientists believe that the sweet taste makes your body produce insulin to help turn the oncoming sugar-flood into fat cells. When the sugar doesn't arrive you feel tired from the sugar-deficit, and your body is reluctant to break down fat cells for fuel.

Don't do it; Any sort of fizzy drink of this type is a no-no when dieting.

OP, don't drink soda. Aspartame (artificial sweetener) runs right through you. Your body does not absorb it, and you will not feel full at all because of this.

This is why you feel "thirstier" after you drink one. Drink water. Quenching, and your body can actually USE it.

Drink too much soda is just bad for you. Extremely brittle bones when you grow older. Obesity. Teeth decaying. Diabetes -> doctors cutting off your limbs.

Don't drink soda. 1 can max a day is still stupid. Drink water and pretend you drank soda once you down the water.

there are legitimate concerns about aspartame.
after it is absorbed into the body it breaks down into methanol, formaldehyde, and aspartate

aspartate is an excitotoxin like MSG and can cause damage to neurons if blood concentrations become too high

formaldehyde is a carcinogen and the acceptable amount that can be consumed is unknown

if you want to be on the safe side limit how much you drink and drink it with a meal to slow absorption which will keep blood aspartate levels normal

Diet coke is alright to drink. I posted this in another topic, but my brother become a diabetic a few years ago. I talked to about 4 nutritionists that came to him, three different doctors that helped us during that time, and since then, two nutritionists and two doctors of my own. All of them have told me the same thing: Diet coke can only be bad if you drink like 20 cans every single day. They all told me it's perfectly fine to drink like two cans a day if you'd like. And, after years of drinking the shit myself, there's absolutely nothing wrong with me, and I love the taste more than normal coke anyway.

if you're worried about your teeth, only drink sodas with a meal, and swish with water immediately after. also, don't brush your teeth for 30 minutes after you drink soda... and drink it with a straw if at all possible
