Hey /fit/,

I'm a little nervous to be posting here, but I could use some help. All my life I've been a pretty chubby kid, and after graduating High School I pretty much let myself go. I went from around 220 to about 320 Ibs.

Inbetween now and then I quit my old job and got a job where I work heavy stock and am pretty much on my feet all the time and I'm now at 295 [Also, I'm 5ft, 10in]. It's been a while now and I'm still at the same weight.

I've pretty much cut out all soda [I drink one maybe every other week.] and only drink water, milk and fruit juice [I'm trying to cut this out since I know the sugar is bad for you.]. I plan on starting to go on walks/runs every morning since I wake up pretty early and don't have anything to do till the afternoon.

Now, what I need help with is on eating habits and what kind of other exercises I should do. I can't go to the gym since I can't afford it, but I can probably buy cheap exercise equipment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I don't want to be a fat fuck anymore.

Get a tabata/HIIT mp3 from the interwebz and perform the HIIT for the following exercises:
- burpees
- bodyweight squats
- push ups
- sprinting
- crunches

You'll probably won't be able to do 8x20sec for those, but just keep trying to do as much as you can. If you feel like you're about to die, then you're doing it right.

don't eat any fast food, don't eat any fatty bullshit, get on a good diet and eat about 500 less calories than maintenance requires. that's it, you don't even need any fancy shit.

i would ride a bike, you probably shouldn't run too much at your weight, you might injure yourself and that'll discourage you. So yeah find some hills, ride your bike up those hills as fast as you can, recover while coasting down, repeat.

As for diet, do you drink alcohol? if so cut that out. Also cut out the fruit juice, eat a piece of fruit, more vitamins and you'll get fiber. Make sure you eat a good breakfast too.

I do not drink alcohol, I've been eating a lot of grapes, apples and bananas lately. I have been working on the eating habits a little bit before posting. I don't have a bike right now so I have to run until I have enough money to buy a decent bike, so when it comes to the running, I won't push myself too hard so I don't injure my knees or something. OP, I commend you for admitting you are fat and I support your endeavor to end your fatness.

Take the stairs, walk around more, go to the gym. Whatever you do, find little things that really work for you. Find a rewarding hobby to make cravings easier, something that you can enjoy that challenges you, preferably in a physical way.

Remember that if you really want to slim down, nothing can stop you but you. Push yourself, but don't be overly ambitious. Make lots of steady little changes and it'll all pay off eventually.

Belief in yourself and what you are doing. You are doing the right thing.

Also quick question before I go for the night. We've already been over that fast food is bad, but what about subway? is it alright if I go there and get a 6 inch sub with only turkey, swiss and lettuce on wheat bread every once and a while?

Turkey wouldn't be so bad. Just make sure you have wheat bread, lettuce, tomatoes, (basically any kind of veggie) and mustard. Absolutely no mayonnaise.

Wheat bread, no cheese, make sure to add onions, cucumbers, spinach and other goodies. I've found that olive oil and vinegar are good for you too.

If you're under 50 and still have your nuts intact: lift weights for 30mins & jog for 30 mins EVERY day. watch tv/anime while you work out or something to distract you.
Don't eat out, don't skip breakfast, DO live off frozen meals & 100 calorie snack bags. Try to hit no more than 1500 calories every day. If you shop around you can find ones that will help you hit 100% RDA and bring you to 1200-1300.

Do that for 6 months. I guarantee results.

1) do some sport. anything you like even if its something lame to other people. running isn't the most fun and that can put you off but doing sport keeps your motivation high.

2) cut out ALL fast food or anything fried.

3) don't eat late in the day. say... after 7pm.

4) drink lots of cold water. not only does it help you to feel full but the body uses energy to warm the water, thus you burn some energy.

5) eat balanced meals. platefuls of carbs (eg pasta) isn't very good.

6) never skip breakfast. it is the start to your day and it gives you energy for the day and keeps your metabolism up. i suggest you eat oats with maybe raisins or nuts in it. NO cereals. Muesli is good.

I also used to be quite fat but I did these things and now I've lost a lot. I also feel better mentally.

I was wondering, do you think you'd maybe want to motivate each other?

Like, maybe we can trade AIM SNs or something, and basically, from time to time compare progress, share advice, encourage each other, and support each other.

Cause I'm sort of in the situation you are. I need to lose weight, and I could use someone dedicated to help motivate as well.

hey OP, the biggest factor is to not let yourself give up. it will be hard to lose the weight, but never tell yourself that it's out of reach because as countless of us can tell you, it's not. you can reach a healthy weight, and you can be really happy with your body image.

start by just being active and eating right, you WILL lose weight. after seeing results you will be motivated to start doing some harder work and your body will be more ready to do so.

don't worry about eating right to start. go to garage sales and get an exercise bike. ride for at least 30 minutes EVERY day. try to get that up to an hour.
after a few months you can work on calorie restriction, but first you need to build a cardio foundation & habit.

Time to derail OP's enthusiasm:

You're a typical fat fuck. You won't unlearn your terrible eating habits quickly. You're going to go through weight loss, then you'll fall back on your fast food binges just like you did your entire life the moment you get slightly depressed over any little thing.

You're going to do this yo-yo cycle for about 2-3 years before you finally take weight loss seriously.

When you do lose weight, you're going to have tons of wrinkled, saggy loose skin where your stomach and moobs used to be. Why even bother? It'll never go away unless you get surgery.

Those stretch marks are there FOREVER. No girl is going to want that and you'll get stares if you ever go shirtless in front of anyone else (yeah, we all know people want to see deflated balloon, cottage cheese skin with fucking stretch marks running through it).

People will always know you as the fat fuck, even after losing weight. You're stuck with being the token fatty forever unless you move away and make new friends (not that you have any, judging by the shitty anime posters)...and even then you'll have the aforementioned DESTROYED skin that makes it look like someone stabbed a playground ball with a fork.

And, then, 25 years down the road when you think you've abolished all fatness from your mind and body...you're going to just up and binge on thousands upon thousands of calories of fast food and pizza, then you'll keep doing it almost nightly until you're fat again and they need to bury you in a fucking piano box.
