Hi /fit/. I need your help.

I want to be able to run. Fast, far, and without getting exhausted every time I do it. I'm 6ft, 165lbs.

I know this is going to be a gruelling process, but I've got the mental toughness, just not the physical toughness.

Save cardio/running, I'm reasonably fit. I work out 4ish times per week, doing weights and abs and so on. I don't play any sports professionally, but I commute cycling each day and so on.

The last time I ran - to give you an example of how bad I am at the moment, last time I ran I managed like 1.2 miles in about 11-12mins. And I was exhausted, I have to be honest. I was burning, my chest was burning, my lungs hurt.

I don't have the money to get a personal trainer, I was wondering if you could point me towards a solid training reigime or system to improve my running.

My goal is a consistent 13min 2mile within like 6-8months.

Should I just get on a machine and run till I can't anymore, and do this every second day? I really have no idea how to approach it.

Just because you suck doesn't mean he doesn't.

To OP: Just run a lot more than your goal (3 or 4 miles) several times a week while slowly increasing the pace and you'll be fine.

So I shouldn't pick up at say, 10mph on a mill (=12min 2mile), and run until dead. Then keep going until I can push that up? (that is what an IRL friend advised me to do today)

And thanks for the support, but I it doesn't matter what I do compared to anyone but myself.

Is a 13min 2mile a too strong goal?

Stop asking these idiots for advice. They have their heads up their asses. Consult a professional if you're serious about your goals. 13 minutes for two miles is do-able, though.

fuck the fucking machine for god sake, when does normal ground become unrunable? go to park or something. warm up, do a litle HIIT and run in a slow pace (>10 min a mile) until dead repeat every other day.

HIIT won't help hit achieve distance running in a certain time, idiot.

I'm a fucking troll and I know that.

HIIT will help him build up maximal oxygen consumption and prepare him for next phase of workout
