If you're going to be going out partying or to the bar, drink only one to two drinks an hour. Seriously, alcohol is the worst thing in the world for you if you're trying to get in shape. It makes you fat and weak. And it lightens your wallet. I guess drinking 1-2 (wine or liquor) a day is good for your heart, but binge drinking (ie more than 1-2 an hour) IS NOT.
Beer has 2 things against it, empty carbs and alcohol. Both of these will fatten you. Liquor and wine both have higher alcohol content, so it's easier to overdrink. They barely have any carbs in them, so I'll say go with that if you must. Having a glass of wine everyday is actually good for your heart.
Mixed drinks depend on what the mixer is. Juice and soda is bad, too much sugar. I can't really think of any other mixers off the top of my head, but what I drink is scotch/whisky/bourbon with a splash of water. Take a lowball glass, mix it with a shot and fill the rest with water. Delicious.
