Form question /fit/

When doing crunches, should my shoulder blades leave the floor, or just my shoulders?
>> Anonymous
Shoulder blades just barely get off the floor... I'm not entirely sure because I don't have eyes back there!

As long as you feel your abbs burning, everything is fine.

Not true, if you don't have proper technique, you may end up straining your neck or back.

Ever try them on an exercise ball?

durr, just keep your fingers to your temples and watch that your neck is not tensed.

This is good technique, but the problem I have with it is the positioning of her neck: there should be more space between her chest and chin.

I do the kind they do in the USMC.

Feet under something. Arms folded across chest. Bring arms up until elbows touch thighs. go down until shoulder blades touch floor. Repeat.

That's a full sit-up though. Different from a crunch.

Are they better or worse for abs? They are harder.

Truthfully, I don't notice much of a difference, I use them whenever I change my routine.

It's actually easier than it seems, but I didn't get it down until recently, and then I was like "Hahaha oh wow."

Basically, just lay flat and slowly try to curl your shoulders into your belly button. That sounds odd, but go try it. You should feel the tension in your abs.

Situps can put more strain on your back than crunches.

Personally, I feel the crunches more than situps.
