Any great ways to increase upper body strength in the space of a few weeks?

I lifted somewhat regularly doing isolation exercises and dumbbell stuff for a few months.

Then I tried 5x5 because I saw it here. My bench increased 10 pounds over 2 workouts and my biceps were sore after a workout even though I didn't do any curls.

tl;dr at least try stronglifts.com 5x5
