Hey /fit/. I was at the grocery store and I saw that "check your blood pressure" thing.

Systolic 174 (below 120 is normal)
Diastolic 74 (below 80 is normal)

It said 174 systolic is stage II hypertension. This freaks me out because im 17 underageB&.

Background - ex fatty, ex anorexic, been bodybuilding for 9 months. I drink assloads of coffee daily (6-9 cups). 6'6 220 lbs

Should I be worried about this? I dont want a heart attack for at least 50 years (or ever)

those machines are very inaccurate. go to a school clinic or something, or just ask your doc for a BP check (explaining the high BP according to the store machine) if you're worried.

hypertension in young ppl is rare, but can be caused by rare tumors (pheochromocytoma, adrenal adenomas) and other rare diseases. if your BP truly is high, it needs to be worked up and treated so you don't develop heart disease, kidney disease, and strokes later on in life

Talk to a healthcare professional and get an accurate reading. Its odd that your systolic is so different from your diastolic. Also, you need AT LEAST two readings >140/90mmHg to truly be hypertensive.
