Anyone got Keratosis Pilaris (KP)? Anonymous
I have it on my arms, shoulders, lower back and ass.

Using a loofa and aloe vera hasn't done much to improve my case.

I know it's genetic and might get better as years go by, but does anyone have anything resembling an effective treatment to lessen the severity of it?

This appeals to my interests.

I have a cream prescribed by a dermatologist that the pharmacist had to specially make, however it just makes the skin feel smoother, it does not take the redness away.

I have some on upper arms, but not too much, thank god.

Exposing yourself to the sun can help get it down, but not permanently

is there a name for it?

It's in a glass container with a pharmacy label, the label reads:

THE CREAM 1
(SALACYLIC ACID 8% PR MOLLE 10% IN SORB)

Keratosis Pilaris...

A month and a half ago I finally got tired of this shit and went for a real diet and lifestyle change.

I've always averaged ~2 glasses of 1% milk a day, even though my system seemed to like it less and less over the years, it was too delicious. I haven't had a drop since I changed my diet. I do still eat a bit of cheese and yogurt.

I started taking 25,000 IU Beta Carotene and trying to eat several servings of carrots and broccoli a day (doesn't always happen)

I've cut 90% of refined sugars out of my diet and cut soda out completely.

Finally, I'm 6'3" 180 lb. and "Skinny Fat" with my abs being hidden by a bit of belly fat. I cut my daily intake from 2400-3000 calories to ~1800 calories and started alternating basic weights and running every other day.

I'm not sure which of these is most responsible or if it's a combined effort, but all the KP bumps on my skin that made me want to An Hero for a long time have faded to almost nothing my slight love handles, sides of my hips, upper arms, thighs -- have all gotten markedly better to the point where I can't stop feeling my own skin.

From what I've read about KP, the same things don't work for everyone, so FYI this is just what has worked for me so far.

I have them on my arms, the skin doctor gave retin-a micro for them, I haven't noticed a difference yet :[. Fuck.

I have this head to toe, but it's most noticeable on my chest and arms. Never thought twice about it, always assumed I'd grow out of it. Had a cream for it once, but I was like ten an putting on creams was bullshit.

Also, I've had this my whole life and only now, at the age of nineteen, have I found out the name of it. Thanks again, Anon.

I have this on my upper arms. My diet is pretty good and I eat lots of carrots and broccoli. While I haven't actually been paying attention to the condition of my skin before and after starting to eat better, I don't think it influenced a lot. At least in terms of number of red dots. It might have made my skin smoother, though.
Anyway, I've tried the shit on the picture to the left and it left my skin considerably smoother. Some of the zits are gone too, but there's still lots of red points on the skin.

I have what looks like that one my shoulders... but you know, I never give a shit about this stuff and one day I look at myself and go "Hey, those dots on my shoulders are gone" and they never return. Happened with acne during puberty, too.

thanks for responding guys, glad to see i'm not the only one who has this

i'm going to try and run and lift more, i've been slacking as of late - also gonna try that clearasil acne scrub and maybe some cetaphil. also try my hardest not to pick at it...makes it look more like pimples when i do that.

what helped me reduce them:

stop drinking milk.
reduce sugar greatly.
not rubbing my skin.
using a sensitive shower gel.

I have it on my upper arms. I'm not sure about diet or anything but my doctor said sunlight helps and also they might fade as you get older.

I would have liked to get a tattoo on my shoulder, but KP isn't going to make that possible

Milk & caffeine are bad for the skin. Stop consuming both and your skin magically gets better.

Ugh, I had this shit bad over my legs and a bit lighter on my upper arms.
KP happens from excess keratin clogging your hair follicles. I went to a dermatologist and she suggested an AHA lotion/Ammonium Lactate Lotion. It takes a long while, but if you use it twice a day it works wonders. I've been using Lac-Hydrin with 12% Ammonium Lactate and my skin has been much better since.

The only downside is that it feels kind of greasy and has an incredibly strong medicinal scent.
Upside though, it only costs about $10-$12ish and can be bought over the counter at any drugstore.

Just don't use it on any areas with scratches or nicks though, cause it'll burn like a mother fuck.

well damn so much for having milk and cereal every day

I had these on my thighs, and it always made me feel self-concious when wearing shorts or skirts.
Then I took a trip to Hawaii and was out in the sun a lot, got an awesome tan, and my KP is pretty much gone from my thighs.
So happy ^^
