Hay /fit/, this hot chick I know got pregnant by her boyfriend. She planned to have an abortion anyway, but the choice became even clearer when, as she reports, their genes were found to be incompatible or something and she was growing a tumor instead of a baby. She says the doctor said this will happen every time with their genes, and the two of them cannot conceive a child together. Is there more information on this subject?

I lol'd.

Sperm + egg != tumor.

Your friend's doctor was lying to make the cunt feel better for murdering a living thing, or this is a bullshit story.

Well, I suppose it's possible she lied to me, but this sort of thing is totally impossible?

I might even be mistaken about the tumor part. Is it possible for just some toxic lump to form out of this union? Something harmful to the mother?
>> rowerfag
>>78557

it's possible (but her wording was REALLY poor), but that "every time" bullshit is bullshit.

it's not a tumor in the cancer sense... that ISN'T possible, it's sort of a non living blob of flesh that would sit there absorbing nutrients forever
>> rowerfag
>>78565
once again, not toxic, just nutrient leeching
>> Anonymous
>>78570
Potentially fatal to the mother, though? I think that's what she was trying to convey, it's harm to her.
>> rowerfag
>>78572

in western society with OBGYNs, it should never be fatal, because it would be caught and removed... but left in there, over time it could become fatal, yes.

Thanks. Jesus Christ you're knowledgeable. What about the "every time" part? So it won't form this non living flesh blob every time with them? Can two people be at a higher risk of generating Mr. Nutrient Sucker? Is there a medical term for it?

>>78591

Doesn't exist, she's just trying to rationalize her decision. Not that she needs to, being selfish is human nature.
>> rowerfag
>>78591
there is a term... i can't remember it... and no, a given couple has no greater risk of it than any other couple... to my knowledge anyway
>> rowerfag
>>78615
this could also be the case, but they do exist

There's this (which doesn't describe what op said at all) http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/pregnancy_newborn/pregnancy/rh.html

and also if both parents have certain very specific recessive genes it can cause a number of very rare genetic disorders (ex. both parents have a recessive gene that is found in 1:5000 people) in that case the child will develop the disease.

Since you're friend was retarded enough to get knocked up I would imagine she either did not understand what the doctor was saying or she is choosing to rationalize the situation (a very common trait found in stupid women)
>> ?suomynonA?
>>78638
Rh is treatable. This is not a problem anymore.

>>78545
Teratomas are benign masses that arise from the germ layer. They can grow large and appear to be a pregnancy, though there was no conception. They may have human features such as teeth, hair, or even eyes.

>Sperm + egg != tumor.
/thread
>> rowerfag
>>78646
this is what i was thinking of... but it's not a tumor in the sense of cancer
>> ?suomynonA?
>>78647
It can be, though unlikely. Something like 1% chance.
>> Anonymous
could be something called gestational trophoblastic neoplasia/disease. three things under that: partial mole, complete mole, and choriocarcinoma. the first two need sperm, and the only the first one has baby tissue.

anyway, none of these things will happen every time and are pretty rare.

if mom and/or dad had weird genetics its possible to have screwed up kids nearly every time, but that would usually just result in miscarriage/spontaneous abortions. and again, this is would be super rare, and there would probably be a family history of similar stuff.

agreed. inbreeding is like magnifying all the crap in your genes. but i don't think you'd get a tumor. you'd get something like in this pic.

Hmmm... If that's true (both what she and the doctor says), it's obviously a genetic thing. From my knowledge, this would mean that both of them have deficiency in one of the non-sexual genes and their union would create only enough material for one complete chromosome that would lead to extreme-tumour-like malformation. Thing is, other than C21, there's only one or two other genes that are compatible with life (rest will result in death) so my question would be how that is possible if both parents are healthy... oh well, don't mind my ignorant rambling.
>> Anonymous
>>78754

if its not a sex chromosome, then trisomy 21 18 and 13 are compatible with life. barely, for 18 and 13, and usually result in death.

and it wouldn't be like a tumor. it would be a severely fucked up fetus.

as for the parents looking normal: two possibilities i can think of are a translocation of a chromosome, and a mosaic phenotype.

with the translocation you have a chance at having a normal kid. i think. but if you have gonadal mosaicism i think you might be stuck with the weird and not so wondeful.

but you know, this is the internets. everything is speculation and opinion.

Molar pregnancy. It won't happen again probably, but you're not allowed to get knocked up for another year or so, or you'll get cancer.

Having a baby is more selfish than not having a baby. I wonder where people get this idea that producing another being so you can fuck them up is the ultimate in altruistic sacrifice.
