I miss the early days of lifting when I could get that sore, no matter how hard I work now I only get a mild soreness. You'll adapt anon, the body is very resilient.

There's something wrong with you OP, when you work out your body should feel like 2 times better, should have a work out euphoria.

The key is: don't take days off when you're starting.

Believe it or not, exercise will ease the soreness. To get really brutally sore, you need to exercise hard, and then rest for a whole day.

Once you're in better shape, you won't get sore like that anymore.

As I understand it, it's a matter of lymph. Lymph is the secondary circulatory system. It carries nutrients to and waste products from the areas that blood can't reach. But there is no "lymph heart"; lymph is only pumped around by moving your body (or getting a massage).

So after a hard workout, your muscles excrete a lot of waste products. If you sit around, they gather and cause discomfort. If you exercise more, the muscular contractions pump the lymph around, the waste products are removed, and you feel better.

Not sure if that's the whole truth, but it's at least part of it.

You're a fucking faggot, OP.
The first time I went to the gym I was straight back in there the next day.

Not sure if it works exactly that way in detail, but in a way it seems correct - new stimulus to the muscle will cause soreness but next time it won't be so bad. You're doing it rite.

Agreed. I don't know about the lymph system but I do know that you'll be more sore if you skip a day than if you work out even when you're sore.

It really depends on how you approach the gym your first time, or your first time back.

I remember I'd stop going to the gym for 6 months due to a knee injury and overall faggotry.

I figured I'd do everything I used to do, but at about 75%.

I did it, but as soon as I woke up the next day I knew I'd fucked up.

And it was only worse after 48 hours.

My ligaments were completely stiff and inflamed, I couldn't bend my arms past the 90 degree point, the muscles were burning as well but that would have been easy to handle on its own.

Moral of the story, when you go to the gym for the first time pay no fucking attention whatsoever to all the people around you.

Don't compare yourself, don't fall into the trap of seeing somebody that is about the same size as you and then automatically think you should attempt the weight he is doing.

If your like me and you going back for the first time after a long hiatus, forget what you used to do, start at 40-50% of what you had reached, focus on form and remind yourself that anything worth doing won't come about overnight.
