whichever one your fatass will keep doing.

Most fatties quit jogging outside or running on treadmills within 2 weeks.

Elliptical is low impact and thus easier to stay with for heavies.

ellipticals are awesome. i have an injured knee and i can use the elliptical for over an hour with no problems on a decent incline and pretty good resistance. if i run on solid pavement for more than 3 mins i can't climb stairs for weeks and meanwhile my knee hurts that entire time which makes work suck really bad.

My knees hurts once in a while also.
Does anyone know how I could try strengthening the knee?

Run properly and get a better shoe. By better I mean go to the most highly recommended place in or around your area and have them look at your foot and gait. By properly I mean don't extend your foot far past your center of gravity, don't land on your heel but roll off your midfoot to the ball of your foot. TECHNIQUE TECHNIQUE TECHNIQUE!
