>What i do is diet for 3 days, do my cardio, then the next day i will do a moderate volume full body workout and eat an ass load of carbohydrates that day. What a carb load does is raise hormone levels associated with your metabolism and can create an anabolic environment to stave off muslce loss through dieting. If you dont have a plan to keep your muscle while you diet, unless yorue geneticlaly gifted, you will end up just getting smaller. Youll lose fat yes, but muscle tone as well and youll look crappy. As for carb intake on those carb load days I'd say take in about 6 grams of carbs per lb. of lean bodyweight. Keep fats LOW.
wow thanks for the detailed response. i copied the entire thing down to follow through with.
My process has been going on for a few years with a lot of trial and error. I've recently turned 20, but started working out @ 17. Being dumb back then, I did nothing but excess cardio and under-eat lol.
I've slowly changed into a better (healthier) lifestyle of just eating clean, 5-6 small meals a day, lifting, moderate cardio, etc.
Anyway, one of the big things I see you've pointed out is manipulating when to have carbs. My carbs come from veggies/fruits, oats, sweet potatoes, and lentils.
My question is: cut out all of that, or can I keep the veggies and fruits? The rest of my nutrition is made up of lean meats, egg whites, EFA's...and...that's it lol. (unfortunately, I stay away from protein powder b/c it gives me skin breakouts).
Next question: your second paragraph (see quote above), is that a cycle you go through for a special occasion or something you do always to just stay very lean?
Thanks a lot.
