Ok so I started doing pullups and some assisted pullups in my workout in the past week. The other day, when I started doing them, I got this awful pain in my lower back. I think it was muscle pain, but I'm not sure exactly. I tried doing pushups last night and I could feel it again. I dont think pullups are even supposed to touch those muscles. Any thoughts as to what this might be? Thanks!

Can you describe the pain?

Is it a shooting pain down our back, moving into your leg? Just soreness?

Most likely thing is that you didn't warm up your back enough before pullups, so you pulled a muscle. You'll be fine

are you keeping your shoulders/abs/glutes tight when you're doing pull ups? cuz you really should..

I'd describe it as a sharp soreness concentrated in my lower back. How might I warm up my back in the future?

Well since I suck at pullups right now, they're difficult, so I'm thinking I'm keeping pretty much everything tight.

How long does it take for a pulled muscle to heal?
