Alright so I have this gross ass bite or whatever (pic related, it's my fat leg). Doctor says no heavy work over the weekend. Fine, maybe I'll swim for cardio? I sure as hell can't do elliptical/bike because putting weight on the foot makes me want to die. What the hell could've bit me?

But on to what I am making this thread about, and it's semi related. I did my squats poorly on sunday due to lack of time and hurt my right knee. Tuesday I did squats again because I'm stubborn as a mule and it was fine until it started hurting. Doctor today said I should avoid them and go lighter on the cardio for two weeks/until it gets better.

My question: What the HELL am I supposed to do without my squats? I can't do deads or barbell rows either, given that they both can be pretty bad on the knee, so that leaves my weight program (stronglifts 5x5) with just Bench, Overhead Press, my shitty dips, and lateral pulldowns.

Not a troll/joke either and inb4 "MOAR SQUATZ" because I'd love to do more squatz but I don't want to fubar my right leg.

Brown Recluse. You're not too attached to that leg, are you?

haha, wrong side of the united states I'm afraid. Or maybe, I'm glad...?

Could be black widow. We have those here, but I haven't been anywhere one might expect to find one.
Someone suggested it might be bed bugs which freaked me out but I couldn't find any and also this is the only bite and also it's way huge.

But seriously, what can I do instead of squats?

Continue your bench, overhead press, shitty dips, and lat pulldowns as normal. Omit squats, deads, and rows until your knee is un-fubared.

Simple...

You aren't going to lose enough strength over two weeks for it to really make a difference. Especially for a novice. If it makes you feel better, do some bodyweight squats or something. Really, not squatting for a couple weeks is wayyyyyy more preferable than fucking up your knee for several months.

PS: It doesn't look like a Black Widow bite.
PPS: MOAR SQUATZ!

It's most likely tremar trepidius - green moss tick. They bite carriers to inject egg sacs along with a compound in their saliva that reduces the body's T-cell response as to prevent the lining of the egg sac from being broken down. Hence the orbital redness and swelling.

I would see a doctor about it immediately. While the eggs and resulting larvae can't cause any significant damage, the chances of infection ARE high.

How swollen is it? From the picture I can't tell how raised the skin is. If there is any swelling, oozing pus, or hardness, get medical help.

It's probably a staph infection. You should get some antibiotics prescribed.
