hey /fit/,I'm an ecto who's doing his best to bulk up. Things are going well. Ive been eating 4-6 quality meals a day, following a solid routine and the results have been showing. However, ive been totally neglected cardio as I'm trying to gain weight, not lose it.Am I doing it wrong? Should i still be mixing in cardio to my routine even if i'm trying to gain weight?
Yes. Cardio keeps your body fat low without drastically sacrificing muscle mass, and it increases your endurance to stay in the weight room for longer periods of time. I've been down that road of sacrificing cardio, and it's not worth it.
It's not a must. Cardio is good for warming up and cooling down.If you do the heavy lifts like squat, deadlift, power clean, etc. you train your heart system too.
Yes, don't overdo the cardio though. I do HIIT sprints for cardio, I find it helps build muscle at the same time as burning fat.
>>91299True, those lifts help train the heart system, but its no where near as effective as traditional cardio or HIIT.
