Hey /fit/ I am pretty much a lazy fuck, that will probably do a strenuous amount of exercise once a week. I am fat like. 230 while around 5'11. My question is, when I play DDR like Heavy mode, or run around for a while, after a few minutes, my throat will start to close up to the point where it is hard to breathe, and it is very uncomfortable. Is this asthma or just inconsistent exercise.

Probably exercise induced asthma. If I were you I'd see a doctor before you begin any serious exercise plan, they'll most likely prescribe you an emergency inhaler and perhaps another inhaler to take on a regular basis. I have chronic bronchitis, which is similar to asthma, but a bit different and they gave me two different inhalers- albuterol and another one that comes in a purple circle thing..

Anyway, hope this helps.

Ok, OP here. I just got finished playing hide and go seek for a couple of hours with friends, and I ran to induce the symptoms. It wasn't my throat closing up, but my chest starting to hurt, which induced shortage of breath. So am i just fat, or is it something else. Also, protip, it has been like this since I was 8.

Hey OP, I have the same thing. Exercise induced asthma (gave me hell during football and rugby in high school). But you can work through it. Start with low speed endurance runs at the gym, and work your way up. I also do my free weights at a fast enough pace to get something of an aerobic workout.

It'll never go away, but you can make it a lot better.
