Dealing with Insomnia Anonymous
I have a hard time falling asleep, and when I do it's seldom for more than 4 hours. I'm always tired, which makes life miserable. What are some things I can do to break this pattern?

Practice meditation. Going into a meditative state can give you sleep-equivalent rest if you can't actually fall asleep.

Just sit in a dark, completely quiet room, with folded legs, and try to blank your mind and ignore all sensory input. You'll notice it's real hard, but eventually you'll get good at it.

I'll try it. Will help with general focusing also if I can eventually get it down. In the meantime I may just take some tylenol pm.

If anyone has additional suggestions, please post.

Tylenol PM will fuck you up. Cut all liquids out of your diet except water, don't pop any pills, and meditate. One of the key causes of insomnia is anxiety, and clearing the mind helps this.

Will look into more relaxation techniques. Thanks Hammerknife.

I drink soda. Lots of it. For some reason it helps me sleep. I know its strange and paradoxical but whatever.

Sleeping pills ftw.

I had the same problem as you from an early age until I turned about 17, I then started taking sleeping pills.

They'll knock you out for quite a while, usually 15ish minutes away from 8 hours, whether it be 7:45 or 8:15.

fap in bed before going to sleep. works for me. Also make sure you at least get outside and go for a walk during the day.

Think about winning the lottery while laying on your back.
It is wonderful.

I don't want to strain my wrists:-P.

I think meditation's the safest bet here.

They give you a really poor quality sleep though.

OP: you could try looking into melatonin and valerian. The two of those have always worked wonderfully for me.

And then there's always cannabis. :P

Try daily exercise and going to bed at the same time every night whether you feel tired or not. Also try not to take naps during the day unless its like a 20 min power nap.
