you should be eating carbs with every meal AND snack. otherwise your body burns muscle instead of fat. your body selects it first if it thnks it's starving. you should have a piece of bread with your tuna, croutons with your salad. not much, but some. i had half a cup of cereal for breakfast with a protein shake and about 20 craisins. i eat about that amount 5 times daily.
