Anyone else dealing with Chondromalacia aka "Runner's Knee?" I was pushing it a bit to hard these past few weeks in preparation for a half marathon next month.

Not sure if I should tough it out and then rehab after the run or try and avoid further injury and just stop running.

Same here, OP. Shit sucks. :[

My sister has that. 2 Doctors said she had to go to rehab. So yeah...rehab it and go back to running later

Yep, everytime I run my right knee gets fucked, but I just tough it out and keep going, I ice it later on. I only run when I'm not able to use the heavy bag or when I don't feel like doing cardio in the pool.

that's what you get for running 10 miles a day, retard.

do some biking or swimming for 2 weeks and see if your knee feels any better.

Put on a few pounds of muscle from deadlifts and squats, it should help you better absorb the shock.

Was only running 3 times a week

Yeah, I joined the local pool and will give swimming a go. I'll maybe try some light cycling at the gym and see how that feels. Thanks

stop running on your heels and you'll never have to worry about runner's knee again. knee impact transfers shock to top of knee, ball of foot impact transfers shock to bottom of knee (where the muscle is).

I used to have a pain on the right side of my right knee. Not sure if it is what you have but nowadays a light 10 minute jog literally makes it all better.

I have runner's knee but I don't run... I also have tennis elbow and I don't play tennis. The runner's knee is from a combo of what >191929 described except I just walk with a lot of impact I guess, plus my legs are not very muscle-y. The tennis elbow is from when I impact-fractured my radius and then had to get ready for college orchestra seating auditions before I had completely recovered. I GOT LAST CHAIR. IT WAS AWESOME.

Not OP but I'll try out the biking. I've had the same problem when running. Never really encountered the issue until I started running faster and longer.

do chi running after you recover. lower impact. I was afraid to get back into running after hurting my knees, but I've been doing it for a few months now and they don't bother me at all.

I had Osgood-Schlatter Disease as a kid. Not much you can do but go easy on your knees. Try bicycling or swimming.
