I'm currently doing 4 sets of 8 reps of bench.

I'm thinking maybe moving up 10 pounds, and start doing stronglifts 5x5 or 4x5.

Will I notice a better/faster increase in strength from this rather than 8 reps?

OP. You can do what I do.
Go up in weight so I can only manage 4*2-3, use that weight till I get to 8 reps. Then I increase the weight once more. Till I can only do 2-3 reps once again.

This seems to work the best for me personally, that's what I do with all my lifts at the moment. Be sure to get a self spotting rig / spotter thought.

I've thought about that, but I think I'll start with a weight that i can do around 4-5 reps on the first set, and maybe 3-4 on the last.

How long does it normally take to go from 2-3 reps to 8 ?

I never go lower than four sets of five reps. I find my max 5x5 weight, then lift until I can up the reps to 4 sets of 8. Then I up the weight, drop back to 5x5. Rinse and repeat. Works for me, maybe not for everyone.

Also, you're beautiful. Move to Northern Ireland and marry me please.

3-7 lifting days, depends on mood and shit like that.
