Any tips/advice for speeding up recovery time?

Keep warm, get enough sleep and stretch after you train.

Contrast showers can help: Stand facing away from the shower, with the water hitting of your skull and running down your back. Alternate water temp from completely cold to as hot as you can stand every thirty seconds. Do this for about five minutes.

Go for a light swim. Stretching also helps. Try to get 8 hours of sleep.
Creatine, no it's not a steroid, and it's not bad for you. Read: http://www.creatinemonohydrate.net/index.html

lol Yeah, a while back, when I expressed an interest in building noticeable muscle to my father, he said "That's great; just stay away from Creatine."

When I actually looked the stuff up and read about it, I wanted to hit my dad.

Just in case you didn't know: Creatine is in all meats, and our bodies create it naturally.
