Plateaus, /fit/. How do we overcome them? I'm starting to get pissed because I could be at my goal weight now, but I've been hovering 8-9 pounds above it for 5 weeks. I read the chapter on plateaus in Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, and I've done about half the things suggested, including eating high carbs and calories 3 days, and eating low carbs and calories the next 3 days, eating every 3 or so hours to increase my metabolism (though I hear that the point 6 meals a day is to make you less hungry, not increase your metabolism), eating the same food I normally do in larger portions...

I know some of you /fit/izens overcame some plateaus, and I need your personal wisdeom

On a related note, I have an electric scale which also measures bodyfat. I know that this is not accurate because the scale only sends the jolt of electricity that measures bodyfat up one leg, and the jolt looks for the nearest path to the other foot/side of the scale, so it goes through the hip and only counts bodyfat in the legs (and because it's measuring me at 13% bodyfat), so I take the actual number with a grain of salt, but despite my weight staying the same, my "bodyfat" dropped 2% according to the scale. Why? I wasn't even lifting during that month due to having trouble with school starting again, etc.

Pic related, it's a plateau in the literal sense.

My scale claims to send a jolt of electricity to measure bodyfat, but considering the fact that the scale also takes in my height, gender, age, etc., I'm wondering if that's just a crock and instead it simply does an estimate based on some formula.

Also, as far as the plateau, make sure you don't worry about it too much. Vary up your physical activities and get plenty of sleep/rest. In short, try not to stress about it I guess?

My scale does the same thing. I'm really bad at wording things, but I think that it adds all of those factors into a formula as variables, and then does the formula. However, in the formula it doesn't take into the account that the body fat that it measured was (supposedly) only in your legs. So basically it considers your legs as the only part of your body with fat.

>scale claims to send a jolt of electricity
What a shitty scale.

The best advice I can give you is to put more effort into it.
