Experiences with HIIT PetBot
I want to hear about them. I just got done reading a lot about it and it sounds very tempting.

So if you've done HIIT, I want to hear about it. All kinds of things. Just tell me your HIIT story.

Pic unrelated, but it's how I get ready in the morning.

have you eaten in the past 2 hours?

If not, pls go somewhere you have about 2 cubic meters of space and perform a light warmup (invisible skipping for 3 minutes, followed by windmills with your arms for 3mins followed by invisible skipping for 3 minutes).

Ok now, do 100 burpees.

Come back to us in 30mins and tell us how HIIT feels.

DOIT.

DOIT.
FUCKING DO IT.

So what does HIIT do for you?
>> Anonymous
I have done weight lifting for 2 years, amatuer boxing for 3

Have been doing HIIT sprints in the morning for 20 minutes total the last 3 weeks

Never seen results like these, fat cuts off so easy. I am dieting hard too though

>> Anonymous
>>183192

How would someone recommend fitting HIIT into a 4 day gym routine, i.e. each day is for a different body area.
>> PetBot
Bump. Nobody's done this yet.
>> Anonymous
>>183199
HIIT doesn't do anything for specific areas, it's a fat burning exercise
>> Anonymous
noob here what is HIIT?
>> Anonymous
>>183796
google it

Can you do HIIT for distances instead of time? I remember someone talking about running 400 meters as fast as they can, and weren't worried so much about time.
>> Anonymous
>>183814

nope, i'm pretty sure it's impossible

admission of guilt time guise

After jogging three miles daily for several months, I decided to switch to HIIT; I started doing four minutes in the morning and increased it by a minute every two days (did it as soon as I woke up Monday-Friday)

eventually I was up to 10-11 minutes (following a chart), and for the first week, it was an absolute struggle, but I was still motivated and determined

the second week, it was still a struggle, and it was beginning to wear on me a bit

by the third week, I dreaded waking up every morning, and I'd find myself making excuses as to why I couldn't continue

eventually, my routine broke down completely, and I decided to try and switch back to jogging, but I could barely motivate myself then either because it was so much lower intensity (and just felt so much less effective; whether or not that's the case I'm still not sure)

so over the last couple weeks, I've been struggling to regain footing on a routine (ANY routine... I've barely been doing anything at all) but am failing

tl;dr: if you are a weak-willed fuck (like me), don't do HIIT because it might ruin your life

Your not suppose to do HIIT for 2 days in a row and you should only do it 3 times a week max
>> Anonymous
>>184032
I know, but I couldn't justify going from: running twenty minutes twice per day five days a week

to running ten minutes once per day three days a week

I don't know
>> Anonymous
>>184119
do HIIT twice a week.. jog the rest of the days if it'll satisfy you?
>> Anonymous
>>183155
i'd been eating healthy and lifting weights and doing cardio (running and tennis) for about ayear and had stopped at 172lbs-ish at 5'8".

I switched to lifting weights 30min + HIIT 3x/wk and I dropped 10lbs in 2 weeks and kept it off while simultaneously increating my lifting power overall.

HIIT will reduce even the most conditioned athletes to a whimpering pile of girly-man in a matter of minutes.

It will also get you into the best shape of your life.
>> PetBot
>>184231HIIT will reduce even the most conditioned athletes to a whimpering pile of girly-man in a matter of minutes.

There's no way I'm ever going to be able to do this, I can barely even run for 10 minutes.

I am discouraged and heartbroken :(

O rly? I was a conditioned marathon runner timing in at 3.25 hours before I got on HIIT. All HIIT did was make my legs hurt--my heart and lungs were like lolk.
>> Anonymous
>>184327
your muscles were prolly not used to the sprinting.

I want to train for a marathon. Would Tabatas work? Or will I have have to actually run long distance?
>> Anonymous
>>184348
Long distance, I'm afraid. Yeah it'll be boring as shit, but you'll push yourself by the end of each. But you can do tabatas 2-3 times a week while going as far as your legs will carry you the other days--I'm not sure if it would necessarily help much, but I imagine it very well could. Protein protein protein.

don't try, give up? fuck that.

I dont get this, I can sprint for like 200 yards, wont you be tired after like to times? Wouldn't a defined sprint time be better?
>> Anonymous
well, i've just started and it's hard as hell and it's too soon to even see results yet but ok.
>> Anonymous
why the fuck do you all say dont do HIIT two days in a row?

because i've dont swimming for 4 years and its like HIIT but fucking harder. swim 5k yards last 1k yards are 10 100 meter on the 1:10 / 1:15. Like jesus if you want to lose weight join a swim team. that shit will get you to burn like 2000 + calories.

did it 5 days a week for 4 years, and i would consider it HIIT, because we always had to sprint.

i dont understand all this HIIT shit. You should be pushing yourself to your limit when doing cardio. maybe i'm alone on this one, but you should be at 90%+ all the time when doing cardio. After a few months you should have built up a tollerance to the lactic acid build up and increased pain tollerance.
>> Anonymous
I've been doing HIIT at least 3 times a week for the past 2 months. Normal cardio for the rest of the week.

I'm not even dieting particularly well but I've cut fat, and my resting and active HR have decreased.

>>184327
You probably can't even run fast enough to strain your heart.
>> Anonymous
>>184862
I agree, which is my point. I'm not sure if I'm getting the proper benefit from HIIT when sprinting 14 mph for 20 seconds isn't straining my heart nor lungs. Either way, my legs are getting some good conditioning.
>> Anonymous
>>184866
You'll get there eventually if that's what you want to do. It's counter-productive to your marathon running however your joints will love you.
>> Anonymous
>>183191
i lol'd.
>> Anonymous
can you do HIIT on a treadmill?
>> Anonymous
>>184877
from what i understand, which is like not much, a treadmill doesn't go fast enough
>> JESUS
>>184877
Nope you cant, Its really annoying on it. Its much better to do it on an open ground.

I do it on a school ground 10 min from m place so its like 10 min warmup for me. I do it 2 times a week though.
>> Anonymous
>>184870
Oh no, no more endurance running for me. Feels good and meditative, but that's not what working out is all about. I'm down to HIIT it up to the max.
>> Anonymous
What is HIIT? sry if it sound ignorant, but im new to the /fit/ life.
