sup /fit/

I'm going to my second sesh of ocs in ~6 weeks (pussy boot camp for pussy officers in the Marines). Trouble is, I lift weights a lot, and a lot of the stuff we do thar isn't exactly heavy, just endurance (ie push-pulls, running, that kind of thing).

So in the time I have left between nao and OCS, what are some recommendations? btw I'm 198 lbs 6' @ 10%, Squat: 405 Bench: 320, so it's not like I'm in bad shape, just bad running shape.

Currently I'm running up this killer hill behind my house every other day (1000 ft elevation change with <1 mile of trail) in addition to the slow way back down, ~3 miles slight downhill. I live in Berkeley, so things like "run on the beach" is kind of out.

tl;dr I'm sexy and awesome but suck at running. halp.

pic unrelated, it's a random one from my folder

Doesn't your gym have any cardio machines?

fuck that shit

you faggot

yes. but cardio machines are really boring, really gay, and really boring; the treadmills are gay and the bikes and pre cors aren't high impact. It's not a matter of not having running to do or the means by which i can run, I'm more worried about doing too much or too little.

If I supplement my hills every other day with a bit of bike the next, that's a different matter. But then again, I don't know much about running so I don't know if that would be overtraining or what. (muscles need time to recharge, yeah?)

Berkeley is fucking lame.

your bench is pretty good so don't worry about push ups. do the hill run 2-3 times per week. start using pull ups for your upper back work, drop that fucking pulldown machine. you're set.

Run. Faggot. Run you fucking nigger.

Do officers have a higher req for their PFT than enlisted since they are suppose to be looked up to?
>> Anonymous
officers need a first class PFT (225+)

to do well at seniors, where OP is heading, you want a 275+, should be 285+ imo.

run your fat ass off, interval sprints, crossfit "murph" workout in boots 1x per week (stomp some fucking hippies while your at it), tabata pullups/pushups/situps/squats/everything, weighted vest running as your in boots and deuce gear all the time.

if you're going 2nd increment you have plenty of time. 1st inc. get off the computer and go run, now. nigger.

don't run in boots. ever. it is fucking retarded and bad for you. run in boots if haji is trying to kill you or if the pti says so. that's all.

it if fucking stupid.

>>69947
yeah it's stupid, but O WOW they make you run in yutes and boots every fucking day in the morning, so guess what I'm running in (sometimes)? Actually, you know what, blisters ARE fun, I think i'll not run in boots until I get there.

I have a 276 atm, everything is maxed out but my run time @ 22:04. Should only take ~2 weeks to get back to 20:00, from there it's tough work.

Haven't tried the murph yet, looks epic. I KNOW for a fact that I won't be able to rock the full workout at first (yes, conditioning!), so I'll tone it down to a 'murphy lite' 2-3 times a week for the first week or two.

1/2 mi
50 pull ups
100 pushups
150 squats
1/2 mi run

then i'll go do another transition where everything is 150% the previous, then the full murph, which is twice everything in there.

>>69921
yeah, i guess. I don't care that much for that right now as I'm still just a scared little student fag and stuff, I just don't want to be a bitch when i get back

>>69901
The only thing that's lame about it is the hippies. and the bums. and the top heavy administration. and a multitude of other stuff. But, since you most likely don't GO to one of the top universities in the world, nor are you in the top public engineering program in the world, and most likely jack off at the possibility of going to some shit school like west nebraska u or devils valley jc or some shit, you don't get to have an opinion. Alternatively, if you DO go to a good school, you're still pathetic.

also, funny aside, i just saw my plt sgt (now MSgt) as I was running. He's the nrotc GySGT here at UCB, he hadn't recognized me until about 4 weeks into Jrs. I've successfully avoided him for almost a year now. AWKWARD.

what distance? 3 miles?

standard pft is 20 pullups @ 5 points each (no time limit), 100 situps in a 2 minute period @ 1 point each, 2.8-3.2 miles (allowances for the differing tracks available at different parts of the world or something) with 1 point taken off per 10 seconds over 18 minutes.

If you don't max out the situps, you suck, if you don't max out the pullups, wtf. I had the same PFT as these other fools who were 110 pounds soaking wet and could run like the wind, under 18 minutes, but they couldn't do pull ups worth shit (not only that, but on the humps they positively DIE).

is it pic unrelated becuause you have a father? or because you're black

i've never had blisters in my life so i have no sympathy. your fault for having soft feet.

can't believe they still get you running in boots. on concrete? fucks sake.
>> Anonymous
>>70779
depends. Usually it's on the trails in the hills, or on the grass. You DO wear them wherever you go, and there's a lot of concrete and parade deck shit.

Also I don't get blisters unless I run barefoot on the beach, didn't get them when the boots were new, let alone now that they're worn in, but I'd rather not chance it. Also, shinsplints.
