Another Bike Thread Bikeguy
So, the last time I made a thread about bikes, it was received pretty well. Same as last time, ask any questions you have. If any of you more experienced cyclists want to give some input on questions, or ask others to review their routines, that's always good. So, have at it.
Posting the sexy fucking Ridley the boss has. Not the exact one, I should take a photo of it sometime. His has some nice Zipp's and such.

I'm a biker. I shave my legs and my toenails are always painted pink. It helps me go faster.

Aerodynamics in action. Although you should realize the extra toe nail paint does create a lower power to weight ratio. Especially considering that is a rotating mass. You must not be a very successful biker..

Is is true that bikes are pussies who can't handle running?

Wrong. Pink toenail paint makes you increases your manliess. The first yime you paint your power to weight ratio will drom (almost negligibly though), but the extra muscle from the manliness makes you go faster.

..Does this even deserve a response? Maybe phrase your question in a proper grammatical format, and I may indulge you with a response.

Fuck, are you serious? God damn, no wonder I haven't been seeing gains from my interval training...Does this work only with pink, and if not, what if I color coordinate it with my bike?

Here's my question.
I have a Trek 4100 Mountain bike and I'm looking to get a road bike because I live in town now.
What are some recommendations for a new bike that I can score pretty cheap. Maybe around 2 or 3 hundo?

As far as a roadbike, it's going to be what you can find on craigslist. Look around for old Peugot's, Nishiki's, Trek's. You probably won't be able to find much for that price either, because most of those guys are bringing their prices up because of the fixie trend that's going on. They suddenly realize that nice older bikes are something people want. So yeah, good luck. Where do you live anyhow, maybe the fixie trend hasn't reached you yet...?

i bought a decent road bike off craigslist for $100. it's great, but my only complaint is the shifters. they're down on the frame of the bike (one knob/lever thing on each side of the frame). i don't honestly know how they work, because whenever i have to shift gears i basically just push them in random directions until they shift to what i want. how hard would it be to install regular shifters (on the handlebars)?

Not hard, but costly. That's what you have to figure out. Yours are called friction shifters. They essentially take the slack in the cable when you move it, and translate it into deraileur movement. Aka, shifting gears. If you wanted to do Sti style shifters....I don't imagine it would be anywhere under 300$ for even the cheap stuff. Unless you are buying nothing but used, and then you can run into some problems..
