Wrists will never grow thicker, no matter the exercise. I mean, you might gain a few fractions of an inch from thicker tendons, but there is usually no muscle there to bulk up. The thicker the wrist, the more stable it can hold up under heavy loading.
You ought to focus on shit you can do, but you'll probably never be a great striker in MMA or a great gymnast or a marathon wanker. Yeah, it's the the last part that really sucks.
