If I want to lose body fat, should I exercise every day or every other day ? What's the theory ?

start off small. Aim for 2-3 days a week for a few weeks. Then, once you learn more about your best times to exercise (convenience as well as good for your body rhythms), up it to 3-4. 5 days is an "ideal". 6 is fine too, but it's pushing it, simply because most people don't have that much time to take off to exercise.

That said, once you ramp up to where there's back to back days, alternate your workouts a little bit. For example, cardio one day, weights the next, or different combos of both.
