Lets talk RPM, /fit/.

When you're on an ellipitcal machine/stationary bike etc, what RPM do you usually maintain when you're on it?
How long do you keep at this speed for? Do you ever speed up for intervals, then slow down?

I'm interested in the way people do it and how hard they push themselves, I guess.

interested also. i will post when other people do though, in fear of being humiliated even though im anon

well, it would depend on anon's goals.

if anon wanted to build muscle, higher resistance, incline and speed ("rpm" as you put it) would be the way.

if anon wanted to lose weight, anything that got the heart rate up to the target area would be the way.

the rest will depend on anon's size (biometrics..longer legs, arms etc) and current level of fitness.

min rpm on bike is 85
max rpm on a bike is 105

deviate below 85 and you're probably going to kill your knees. deviate above 105 and you're probably going to kill your knees unless you spend a prodigious amount of time working on core muscle strength in order to stabilize your muscle.

adjust resistance accordingly.

I just aim for 6 miles in about 20 minutes. That usually keeps me in the 90-100rpm range for the majority of the time.
