hey guys i dropped a chef's knife on my index n middle fingers on the proximal phalanx bone. Blood ran like a river, i barely stopped it via bandaging n icepack. Funny thing is, no pain at all. Kinda frustrating 2 type 1handed...

so does this warrant stitches? should i g2 emergency? im in canada, it takes AGES...

If you have any athletic tape then wrap it up with that, not tight enough to cut off circulation or anything. Bandages will work, but they might not stay on over night. If it doesn't look like a normal cut should in the morning (scabbed up, or at least starting to) then it's time to go get stitches.

If the bleeding has stopped then you should be ok, just make sure it doesn't get infected. Then you have some real problems.

ok liquid bandage sounds pretty deus ex machina to my problem

ty all, i give you 2 thumbs up, while i still 'ave em

This is true, but thats real last resort.

get some formal gloves for your interview, clean it with an anticeptic, and if it has stopped bleeding for 20 minutes, then it is already healing it self.
get some neosporin for it, and eventually get checked for nerve damage.
>> Anonymous
better to just get a couple of stitches so it doesn't keep opening on ya. maybe a day or two with a splint just to stop you from flexing until it sets.

just goto the damn hospital, you're in canada and it's free. I'm in toronto and I've had to get stitched up a few times, sure there's abit of a wait, but i got treated by a doctor and didn't have to pay a cent.

If it was deep enough to lacerate any of the muscle, chances are the skin won't stay closed unless you immobilize your fingers anyway, and exposed flesh has a pretty high chance of being infected.

And don't use regular super glue. They put too much extra shit in it. Normal cyanoacrylate (main ingredient in superglue) can react quite exothermically and end up burning if it comes into contact with cellulose (paper, cotton) while curing. I've had it do this on regular skin, it would suck fucking ass to have it happen in a fleshwound.
