I live in an apartment and own these:
- simple flat bench ($30) - pull-up bar, mounted in door jam ($15) - kettle bells (price varies by weight) - 25, 30, 35, 45lb dumbbells (same)
That doesn't sound like much do you can hit all major muscle groups with varying exercises with that equipment. I might also get a vertical bench when one of my roommates moves out and his room becomes available.
I don't know that you can become that dude in the pic without a bona fide gym, but you can at least be well on your way.
