A good rule of thumb is for males you have good strength if you can bench your body weight.

awesome, 120 shouldnt be too difficult. i dont consider myself strong, but that goal seems reachable

How depressing. I'm 6'5" with a large build. I doubt I could even bench half my body weight...120lbs.

Here's a good chart on how much you're supposed to be able to bench based on your weight and level of training (note that all of these are 1-rep maxes):

I've always heard it said that /ic/ is a wasteland of fail and suck lorded over by four dark barons of "artisticism" of especial fail.

The average male can only bench press about 75% of his weight. You should aim to bench press your body weight 1 time. As you get more in shape, that'll get left far behind.

I bench over my body weight for reps. At 240lbs I bench 245lbs 3x10. For 1rep, I can do around 365.

I'm pretty muscular and have been working out a long time, but have about 17.5% BF, which I want to get down to 10%.

True.

I'd imagine the four lords are yofuku/ipoq, Somewhat, and well, I can't remember the other two but suffice to say your analysis is completely correct.

I came here for /ic/, I stay for every single other board but /ic/.

There are alot of factors to it

for example your body type.

if you are fat you will generally be able to bench more if you are medium , and if you skinny exc.

Also if you are tall and skinny benching becomes more difficult as your arms are longer and further apart from your center.

generally there is not "set" limit, just start small and work your way up till you find a weight that you can bench around 5-6 times before you are unable to do more, that would be your set weight and you can slowly increase it as time goes on.

I weigh 178, max bench is like 240. Normally I just go up to 185 when training though.

I have almost the exact same build, 5'9" and 125lbs...when I started lifted I could just barely do my body weight, now I can do 135 in sets of 15 and my max is about 190.

Sadly although according to the chart from>>24715I'm advanced, I still look like a stick figure =p
