What's so bad about milk?

Is it just the fat? Because if so i don't really see how a couple of glasses of semi-skimmed a day will ruin you.

I'm starting a cut, and decided to give up milk, however, protien shakes terrible without it. I'm thinking of going back to and just using for 2 tasty shakes a day or so, what's wrong with this?

Pic entirely unrelated.

didn't study show that milk increases your gain substantially?

I don't get what's bad about it

SO WHATS THE SHIT ABOUT MILK AND TESTOSTERONE IN MALES???!?!?!?!?!/1

wtf, milk is awesome, if you niggers choose stop drinking it now that youre young then enjoy your ostheoporosis when you hit 45, also enjoy your calcium deficiency when you hit 50, have fun dying a painful death

>>312808
plz sir, GTFO my /fit/

while it IS true that human beigns were, PERHAPS, not meant to drink cows milk, it is also true that 800 years ago, the average human beign lived until their 40s, since we started drinking milk( out of the pure calcium and proteins benefit), human beings are now living until 70 and senile diseases hit until later stages.

So please, if youre going to make a statement, do so with plausible statements.

You're right.

It's easy to prove, too.

Genes inside your cells produce a protein called lactase anytime lactose sugars are introduced to the body. What does lactase do? It is an enzyme which is necessary for digesting lactose. This is simple proof that the human body is at least currently able to safely and properly digest things like cow's milk and the mother's milk of most other mammals. We may or may have not evolved to produce lactase, but the undeniable fact is that we currently do produce it and therefore can drink milk.

People with lactose intolerance have a genetic abnormality which renders their bodies unable to produce lactase, therefore they can not ingest milk without getting mildly to severely sick depending on what type of genetic mutation they have which affects lactase production. Some produce absolutely no lactase, in which case milk can cause such severe reactions that it MAY be fatal. Some produce limited lactase, but not enough to properly metabolize milk and therefore end up getting stomach cramps and bad gas.

And that lactose from milk just gets converted to glucose when it's metabolized. So it's perfectly safe.

>since we started drinking milk( out of the pure calcium and proteins benefit), human beings are now living until 70 and senile diseases hit until later stages.

I can't agree completely on this part, though. While changing diets do have a hand in current life expectancy, there are way too many other factors to consider to pin it exclusively on milk consumption. It's more due to our medical technology and adaptive immune systems.

>>312868
oh yes, of course, i can see how I seemed to say that milk is the ONLY reason why we are now living to our 70s, what i meant is that milk among other foods are the reason why we are now having such great like expectancies and milk specifically becuase now we ingest calcium, which keeps our bones strong and prevent ostheoporosis and calcium deficiencies at early stages.

WILL SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT WHATS MILK GOT TO DO WITH TESTOSTERONE????

While I'm not an anthropologist, my estimation is that humans were naturally drawn to milk as a part of natural evolution.

We went from bashing animals on the head with rocks to doing much more physically intense things like, say, construction civilization from the ground up. Milk is pretty much the only way to get calcium naturally and the human body had an instinct to augment itself, so it told the brain it needed more calcium and humans started craving it.

Granted, there is calcium in a lot of other natural things, but almost all are inedible to humans. One could surmise that we may have started eating the bones of mammals to get calcium, but our intelligence kind of leaned us towards using bones as tools rather than food.

In either case, I completely agree with you. I once facepalmed hard at a PETA ad that claimed "No other mammals on the planet drink the milk of other mammals. Humans shouldn't either, it's not natural!". Which firstly is not true, many mammals will instinctively consume other mammals' milk if given the chance, and it's also scientifically impossible to claim for the reasons I stated above involving genetic production of lactase.

At the most, milk is "bad" for you if you drink a lot of whole milk daily, because it's a lot of fat. Well, duh, milk is supposed to have fat and a lot of calories because its natural purpose is to feed infants of the species to help them grow. Milk is a powerhouse of energy, it has essential fats, vitamin D and K, protein and carbs.

I have to say, if I was starving, I'd love to have access to a peanut butter sandwich and a big glass of milk. So much vital energy right there.

No. You lose your lactose tolerance if you stop drinking milk after a certain age for an extended period of time. They just don't have the milk available, or don't drink it culturally.
>> Anonymous
>>313010

Which is why I'm lactose intolerant, but neither of my parents were, amirite?
>> Anonymous
>>313010

Get educated, child. Genetic makeup contains specific chemical combinations JUST for digesting lactose. It's abnormal to not have these. Take biology. Or you can go up to my professor who has a Ph.D in human anatomy and a Ph.D in microbiology and tell her she's wrong. I'm sure a 17 year old on 4chan knows way more than her.

>>313023

This isn't quite the same as genetic lactose intolerance. A lot of people with perceived lactose intolerance only feel weird effects from milk because their body is not used to unzipping the genetic formula for lactase production. These people can get used to drinking milk within a day or two.

People who actually LACK the genetic code to make lactase have true lactose intolerance. Everyone is genetically flawed in some way. There is no such thing as perfect genes, every human has mutations in some form.

The ability to produce lactase declines significantly after childhood for ~75% of the world's population. The lowest rates are in Northern Europe where dairy consumption has been around for longest.
It's a natural weaning process present in all animals, but can be lessened by consistently consuming dairy into adulthood.

Significant lactase persistence isn't the norm globally but probably will be one day.
I still find it funny that people have such a problem with breastfeeding and breastmilk in general but will happily chug down milk from an overmilked cow.
