I have tonsillitis and I'm currently taking antibiotics for it. My only concern is that I'm a smoker. Will smoking prevent the antibiotics from doing their job or can I smoke while recovering?

Thanks in advance.

True, but in the meantime I don't want to deal with swollen pus-filled tonsils, so answer my goddamn question now please.

Probably should have asked your doctor when he prescribed your antibiotics. Though I recently asked my dentist about tonsillitis and he said the only real thing you can do is have your tonsils removed.

Get your tonsils out. I had it done at 18 and it was AWESOME. My throat feels wayyyyyyy better and bigger, and I get far fewer and much less severe throat infections.

why don't you just fucking look up what antibiotics you're taking and find out for yourself, fuckface? goddamn, are you really that stupid?

the antibiotics likely attack the peptoglycan membrane of the bacteria, making them unstable. so smoking won't mess with that, but it can irritate them making them more painful until they heal. i got mine out at 20 cause i kept getting it to the point i need steroids to get the swelling down. unless this is a rare thing ask about getting them out
