Ok so, to start with, I'm a pretty established runner. 5 minute mile, I was a competing mid-distance runner till I was 17, and I've always kept fit since then

Today I decided to go and do some HIITs seen as everyone is always talking about them

I went for 20 second jog then 20 second sprint. I did this 5 times and I wanted to die

Yes I loved the feeling of my legs turning to shit after just 2 minutes of cardio, but I keep seeing people going on about how they have 20 - 30 minutes of HIIT training in their workouts

Now I looked into it more and it turns out olympic athletes fail after 6 minutes of tabata intervals, which are 20 seconds jog 20 seconds sprint-like-some-motherfuckers-chasing-you-with-a-chainsaw

tl;dr, if you can do HIITs for 20 minutes, YOUR DOIN IT WRONG

obviously you have to build up to 20 mins.

trust me, they're not doing it wrong, you're just looking for someone to blame. i wish more people would read this:
