Any fighters out there that could help me with a little problem I've encountered here?

For the massive majority of my weightlifting "career", I've just been lifting chunks of metal and just generally worked to grow my muscles, with very little endurance and cardio training going on. And of course, even as I got bigger and stronger, I just outright got fatter.

However, I have recently decided to change that fact, and focus on slimming down and getting a more "fighter-like" physique. So, anyone here with similiar experiences and desires to my own that could help me out, and give me some good tips so that I don't just go out running and break my knees, or somesuch personal tragedy.
I'm 6'1 and I weigh 260 lbs, and just imagine Mike T. here with a chestrug and lovehandles, and you've got my form.

I was always under the impression that a certain amount of fat was advantageous for a fighter. Or maybe I've just been watching Fedor for too long.

Depends. It gives you more mass.

Yeah, but the guy's a beast, and to clarify a bit further, it's just not the looks I'm after, it's the whole "fighter package". Curious about what /fit/'s resident boxers/kickboxers/whatever do.

Probably wouldn't be in my current situation if I did, now would I? And my mother is a saint!

I know a fella that from being a bodybuilder champ decided to loose weight after having his arse beaten by a slim fella. He started to run like a mad cunt every day, he ended up looking like a fecking junkie, thin as fuck.
After that, he started again with protein, creatine and shite and got perfect fecking definition without gaining weight, he was cut as feck. I think he was in 140kg when he started and he got in 72kg in couple of months. Really strong mofo.

Man I hate it when people say "feck" instead of fuck. It sounds like fucking baby talk.

Do you want to be a fighter or just look like one?

you dont have to run necessarily. but understand that fighters do much more aerobic activity than pure weight lifting. you could find something you enjoy more than running and do that on the off days when your not lifting weights.

also, try cutting out maybe 50 carbs on a given week and see if you dont look a bit 'trimmer'

Fighters focus on power and endurance, not just strength. Neither fat nor mass really matter. If you want to have a body like a fighter, then train to fight. Also, don't maximize your load. Cut it down to 80% and try to do more sets.
