A full squat is only dangerous if you lack the experience and muscle to back it up.

We recommend slightly below parellel for beginners, as stopping at parallel put a high ammount of stress on your knees, and ATG or ass to grass (a full squat) can only be performed correctly by an experienced lifter.

Newbie = slightly below parallel

Experienced lifter = full squat

If you have to ask whether your an experienced lifter or not, your aren't.

Or you can do box squats that allow you to go way lower then you could otherwise until your hamstrings etc. feel up to the challenge.

in my experience, OP advice is golden.

try doing 10 body weight squats (you and your clothes, not a body weight bar) at parallel, 10 at slightly below parallel, and 10 full squats

the parallel squats will feel worst on your knees but be a significantly worse workout than the other two...also if you are planning to hold at the bottom of your squat (weighted or not) don't go all the way down, stop a little after parallel

ignore the tripcode, i've been fooling around to find a good one..if anyone has issues with my advice, tell me what's wrong, not simply that it's wrong.

So, what do macho, experienced squatters like yourself lift?

Doing full squats, I got 150kg x 11 the other day. On the 12th one, I couldn't even try to get back up, I had to drop the weight off my back from a full squat. I've been lifting on and off for about 14 years, but I've just recently got rid of the belt and started doing full squats.
