Hey /fit/ lend me thine divine guidance.

I'm 5'9" tall at 148 lbs with 13,9% of body fat. My goal is to bulk up a little, without becoming the next Schwarzenegger. I've been using the HSS100 workout for quarter a year now and I must admit it didn't get me anywhere. No muscle or weight gain whatsoever visible.

Recently I've heard a lot about this P90X workout program and so far pretty much everyone tells me with determination and dedication it's doing miracles to your body.

Viewing some of the videos however I've seen that they're doing as many reps as they can, usually 20-30.

I might be wrong here but from what I know about building muscle mass is that 8-12 reps are optimal for that.

Does /fit/ still think this program is recommendable?

i think everything other than what i do is stupid, which is honestly what the vast majority of /fit/ is going to tell you. that and SQUATZ.

p90x sounds like a faggy fad to me. get a gym membership and start pounding weights. dont eat like a slob. run and participate in sports. there's your miracle.

P90X is NOT for getting big muscles. It's primarily for cutting fat, increasing endurance and flexibility, and defining/maintaining what muscle you already have. Look at the body transformation videos/pics online, these people aren't getting *bigger*, but they're shedding fat like mad shitz.

I have no idea what P9XO is but it sounds gay. For ovearll mass go for Benching and Chin ups for upper body and Deadlifts ans squats for lower. Do 4 sets of 8 reps each excercise, and you probz need to eat more calories and protein. NO FAGGY ISO LIFTS OR MACHINES.

>without becoming the next Schwarzenegger.

don't worry, you won't. You won't even get 'too big.' You won't just wake up one morning and go "O MAN I SHOULDN'T HAVE LIFTED SO HARD YESTERDAY I GOT TOO HUEG." muscles don't work like that. No matter what you do, or eat, or how hard you lift, you're only going to go as far as you want. Bodybuilding is a gradual thing. Once you've reached your goal you can do maintenance. unless you want to never ever ever reach your goal, and complain about never making any progress while at the same time disregarding any advice you might receive.

God you people make me so sick

I found p90x to take too much time up. HIIT might be quicker and more equally efficient
