Question for people who are doing / have done stronglifts 5x5.When you started did you start with bar? I just started and I just started with around 70 lbs. squat(bar not calculated). Is this fine?picunrelated
I started Stronglifts 3 weeks ago, empty bar on all of the recommended exercises, and have resisted the urge to jump the weights too much despite the fact that it's easy to boot right now.Think more about long term gains and I think it will pay off much more.
requesting sauce on op
uh, unless you're completely weak, don't start with an empty bar. You'll just be wasting time. Start with a comfortable weight.and please FFS always add the bar when you talk about weight. "I weight 50lbs, bone mass not included"
>>369873standard barbell is 45
Yeah my fault I always dont include the bar. The bar weights 45 lbs amirite? So I started off squatting 115.
Fuck man, sauce on OPs pic.. Thats one nice ass <3
>>369876nice ninja edit there
>>369877>>369865No sauce. Found this shit on /b/.
thats a nice fucking ass.
>>369868The point of minimal weight for sarting is to practice good form. As it's a beginner program, there's a good chance you don't kow the movements and need a light weight to hammer in the technique.Typical /fit/itzen mentality of overtraining and way too much weight.
>>369895comfortable weights, fag. That means you can lift them with ease. Well, unless you're so weak that 45lbs actually gave you some resistance.
>>369898youre still missing his point jackass. its not about strength it is about hammering in good technique and form. you build on that so you don't end up being one of those retards that thinks they can bench 350 but if they used correct form they would really be benching 135
>>369908oh my bad. I started with decent weights and now my form is out of whack. I should have learned. I will never be strong now T_T
>>369908bullshit. if you read starting strength it says that on your first time you should keep adding weights until you will be out of form and then that would be your starting weight. its not that hard to master a squat BRAH
I started out with just an empty bar to get the technique right. Also, added weight until I felt uncomfortable but still with alright technique in my first session. Pretty much self-coached. I started out with only 10kg pussy weight and worked up to 60kg in just 4 weeks. Oh, after the first workout I felt alright but my whole body felt fucking sore the next day. Now those DOMS feel good brah.
>>369932come on brah, weight makes it hard for you to lift. Start with an empty bar, brah and your form will be perfect.
