Hey /fit/ I'm an 18 year old girl that is around 120, i would really like my abdominal section to be more defined, what exercises would you recommend. Currently I run and do the stair master at my gym, I do some weight machines but I'm toally lost as far as that goes.

I don't want to be muscular, I just want more definition. I know that weights help with that, but unless you know what to do and how to do it you'll bulk up and look weird.

Well if your 120 I think you already look nice.

Also hang like your gonna do a pull-up and swing your core while you lift your knees are up.

You came to the right place, no-one's first post goes well. Live and learn. You want cardio to show off your abs and crunches to build them up.

Also, i hope you realise spot reduction can't be done. You're best lifting all over. www.bodybuilding.com can help with lifts & workouts, as well as pretty much anything else fitness-related.

/fit/ is generally pretty helpful. You just have to filter the crap.

As fas as abs goes, you'll need at least a semi decent diet. But you're probably pretty slim at 120 so you're relatively fine there, just avoid snacking too much!

Do some light core excersises. Do some crunches, leg lifts, planks are really good too!

Check out this page, although some of the excercises might be hard, if you do at least one of each group maybe two or three times every two days, you'll notice a difference soon enough. Bear in mind OP, that the main factor when excercising is CONSISTENCY! If you do your exercises every monday, wednesday and friday you'll have an amazing stomach in no time!

In general, you can just do your cardio supplied with some weightlifting. Most people really won't get all that bulky unless they follow a tight regimen supplied by a good diet. Especially girls/women won't just bulk up like that.

But, to avoid bulking up, just do some general exercises, but with a little less weight and do a couple of more repetitions. So do 15-20 repetitions (or more) instead of say 5-8 (which is commonly used by bodybuilders and the likes).

For the abdominal area, various kinds of crunches are effective. You can also consider squats and the likes, these use the core muscles for stabilisation and will defined them over time.

Unless you're on steroids, your body don't have enough testosterone to get "bulked up."

Ab definition is mostly a matter of bodyfat; cut two pounds and see how much more abs you see.
