mis/fit/s, I'm addicted to sugar. I go to the gym regularly, so I'm not fat because of it, but I hate this addiction. I could have a box of Everlasting Gobstoppers and feel like shit after eating it afterward.

tl;dr - what are some tips to break a sugar addiction? In b4 willpower (obvious)

Good job, that's the first step. Whenever you want something sweet, eat some fruit. After a week you won't even want to think about candy.

Ive found that by baking the most repulsively sickly sweet and fatty cookies and cakes whenever I feel the desire to eat bad shit, and then giving the baked goods to friends and family, I can create something with all the shit that I want to eat and see people enjoying it and I no longer desire the food itself.

Also, Ive found that chili is a good replacement for fat, salt and sugar in foods. It has no real caloric content but ads a lot of flavour and the heat is very fulfilling and leaves me content.

fill up on other foods that have 0 sugar, and preferably only complex carbs (i.e. not fruit).

do this Monday thru Saturday. on Sunday eat whatever you want, sugar included. Monday, back on no sugar.

after 2-3 weeks of 6 days no sugar, 1 day sugar ok, you'll find your appetite for it is less. you won't need willpower because you wont want it as much. kapish?

also, throw out all the sugary food in your cupboards first, so you won't be tempted. have a substitute ready, like cold water or tea or black coffee for when you feel the urge to cheat.

are you depressed? a sugar or carb rush creates seratonin in the brain. that's why if you're sad ice cream makes you feel better. it's very common for people to binge eat to improve their spirits. try getting more sleep and more sunshine and see if that helps.

not the OP you're talking about, but for some reason this works for me as well. I'll decide to bake something, such as sugar cookies and I'll give them away just as he described. For some sick twisted reason, it's much more satisfying to have a friend eat the sugar. *grin*

I hear a good way is to chew up the food, but instead of swallowing spit it out. With Gobstoppers and other stuff that dissolves, spit your sugary saliva out instead of swallowing. You'll stop thinking of candy as food, and start seeing them as something that doesn't belong in your mouth.

Also, you're methods are setting yourself up for disaster. If you restrict yourself you're naturally going to rebel. When you get that train of thought in mind that's "WANTWANTWANTWANT", don't ignore it right way. Wean yourself from it. Go get some 60-70% cacao dark chocolate. Shit is so rich after eating a few squares I have NO desire to eat it again for days.

Another perspective, are you starving yourself from sugars? What's your diet normally? If you're not getting enough kinds of sugars it could be your body going into overdrive craving it.
