Starting supplements Anonymous
hoi /fit/

ive been going to the gym for 6 months. i've dropped some fat and right now i'm starting to see some muscle tone on my legs, chest and shoulders, mostly. i've started dieting too, to drop the last pounds of fat. it's a high protein diet, but i think i could start taking some supplements to prevent muscle loss (or promote growth).

but i think my parents would not approve. i myself have always had a bad idea about 'gym gorillas' and those enormous tubs of powder that go with them. it has just been when i got over prejudices, started lifting and getting in the know about fitness, nutrition and such that i've came to think that a bit supplemental help would be useful. thing is, i still live with my parents (i pay for everything myself, but still it's their roof) and they're not over that prejudices yet. also, i've been fat, they haven't. my friends have also teased me about the lifting and dieting stuff, so i think i'd get some funny looks about this, too, but i care less about them.

i'm not thinking about those aminoacid things or thermogenics. it'd just be some whey and maybe a good multivitamin, but it's gonna be tough. how would you go about starting to take supplements that everyone around wouldn't approve of?

First off, most normal people can achieve their goals without any supplements. You really ought to study methods on tweaking your diet to create an optimal muscle building environment before taking supplements.

That said, if you DO choose to take supplements just take the high and mighty route and tell people to actually study nutrition before knocking your choices. If they continue to ridicule and it really does bother you, NEW FRIEND TIME!

why would someone not approve of whey?

anyway, if it's a problem, just drink moar milk.

if you still young enough that parents are a factor, you have plenty of natural testosterone and will not need supplements.

Wheys pretty bad for your liver, eat some nuts. Soya nuts are good. Make sure they're unsalted too.

I bought some salted soya nuts the other day but I washed them and grounded them up. Hurray for cheap protein powder!

You are retarded. Soy nuts are full of carbs, fat, and estrogen. And whey does not hurt your liver more than any other food - i.e. not at all.

Only if you ahve like 6 a day, one after your workout won't kill you. And what doesn't kill you makes you STRONGER, kinda like SQUATZ
