Running/jogging/sprinting are better. A thing called interval training is one of the better things you can do. For an example, lets say you rate the intensity of your running from 1-10, 10 being the hardest.
For say 4minutes or so you run at 6-7 speed, then after the 4minutes you go 9-10 for 1minute. Then either drop down to a jogging pace or have a break for about 1-2minutes, then do it again. For about 3-4 sets depending on your fitness level. After a while you can increase how many sets you do, or how long for.
If thats too complicated, just go for a 30-45minute run every morning. In the morning your stomach is empty so it burns all the reserved energy (fat).
Combine that with reduces your carbohydrate intake drastically will having you shedding excess weight in no time.
