If you're playing sports, why the fuck do you care about looks. You're never going to be as big as a 6 footer, so you shouldn't try and get as big as them. At the most I'd say you can put on 20 lbs without hampering performance. In addition to the regular conditioning (which practices should take care of), you should be training for agility, raw strength and explosiveness. Once you get strong and quick, there shouldn't be any problem knocking some of those bigger boys on their asses. A 5x5 Stronglifts or a 3x5 Starting Strength program should work wonders for you in 6 months. In addition, its a little known fact among younger trainees that training for performance will give you oftentimes a better physique than someone who trains for appearance.
Post-workout nutrition is paramount, because during this period the body absorbs carbs and protein extremely fast. You have about an hour after training to take in nutrition. Within this window, you want fast-dissolving foods, so take in a sports drink for carbs and a whey powder for your protein. Most grocery stores sell high-quality whey proteins now, pretty much anything you get will be good.
