Keep up the good work! Always keep this in mind:
1. Strength 2. Cardio 3. Diet 4. Flexibility 5. Variety
1. Strength - Lift weights, the more muscle you gain, the more calories you burn. Therefore, more fat reduction.
2. Cardio - The elliptical is good but try the stair master. It burns nearly double the energy compared to running and you won't have to worry about wearing down your knees. However, if you do want to run, keep your running to short, comfortable distances until you get used to it. Use the google maps to plan your route so you can get a distance.
3. Diet - I'm sure you already know what to do. Just keep it to small, healthy meals every three hours. Remember, SMALL meals.
4. Flexibility - Not many people emphasize this but it's very important. Flexibility decreases the chance of injury and makes working out easier. Best to stretch a lot in the evenings then, before you workout during the day, stretch enough to just warm up.
As for lifestyle, start dancing. You keep yourself busy, meet fun people, and get one hell of a workout.
Anyway, good luck and never give up. You may have a long way to go but make it fun and, before you know it, you'll be exactly the way you hope to be.
