I need advice.

I'm 23, 5'11", 82kg(180lb), male.

I've been eating about ~1300cal a day for about 3 months now, probably 1/3rd crap like microwave meals, and 2/3rds decent, i.e. oatmeal, sandwiches, lean meat, veg, etc.

I've been going to the gym for 4 weeks, 4 days a week, consisting of 4-8 lifting exercises then 20mins of cardio. I've been moving up in weights and reps, so I am getting stronger.

My concerns are that my metabolism is completely screwed and my weekly exercise routine could be refined a lot. Is there a pro out there who can help?!

First of all: You need to eat more. 1300 cals is starvation mode.
You'd need around 2000 prolly.

this is if you want to cut down.
If you wanna gain muscle you need to eat a lot more.

Will that result in fat gains though?

NO, wtf. How much do you weigh? How tall are you? It's VERY unlikely eating 2000 calories a day plus a lot of exercise will result in fat gains, for you unless you're a woman or incredibly small. I mean, you'd have to be reeeeally small. Remember, 1800 is the bare minimum for guys, and you need to add on the calories you burn. (Say your need 3100 to maintain your weight, you lower it to 2100 then you burn 500 doing cardio, you'd need to eat 2600 calories, otherwise you're only reallly eating 1600.)

Read my first post, I'm 23, 5'11", 82kg.

I've also been eating 1300cal a day for 3 months, so jumping straight into 700cal more per day seems like I'd put on weight.

Well you already ass fucked your metabolism... dude, I kow it seems like eatingless=losing weight but you're wrong... actually eating MORE of the good kinds of food will speed up your metabolism... eat 6 small meals a day, every 2.5-3 hours. All you're doing right now is losing a tiny bit of fat, mixed with muscle. Less lean tissue in your body means as soon as you stop your diet, you will gain back all the weight very easily, it's why people do what's called 'yo-yo' dieting.

Also, at 1300 a day, let's say you're burning 200-300 calories during your cardio, you're really only eating 1000... it's your body, but what you're doing is really unhealthy and you're setting yourself up for fail. Eating more may be counter-unintuitive but trust me it is what the real, healthy people do (including myself). Fat loss will be slower too, 1-2 (maybe 3) pounds a week, but it will be fat. Your concern should be FAT loss, not WEIGHT loss.

Finally, if you like what I'm saying, I think you would be wise to read this book:

http://rapidshare.com/files/121796184/Burn_The_Fat_Feed_The_Muscle_-_Tom_Venuto.rar

It will teach you a lot of things about diet, what to eat, when to eat, etc... very great stuff everyone on /fit/ agrees with it, eventhough we make fun of the book a lot it's full of real advice, no bullshit. It advocates hard work and healthy living. Exactly what you need.

By that theory he is in a defecit of approx 1000 a day which would roughly equate to 2lb loss per week without going into other factors. However i suggest you increase your calorie intake by 200 and drop the microwave crap & sandwiches in favour of more lean meats, fish, nuts & vegetables.
