Hey /fit/, need some help losing weight. I can run in the morning, but can't swim and I'm at uni so I don't have a lot of time so Gym/Clubs etc are out of the question, and I'm quite antisocial, being anonymous and all.
Any good ways of losing weight? Currently I just do crunches and hit the good old punchbag a bit. Want to build up some muscles if possible.

I work about 30 hours a week, class/study another 15 or so, and still have time to hit the gym for 8 hours a week, plus run on my off days and have a healthy social life to boot. You can manage it too, I'm sure.

Most days at the gym I don't have to speak a single word. The few times I do it's usually no more than "You done with this?" or "Sure, thanks". The gym is only as social as you make it.

I used to be a fat loser nerd who couldn't do one pushup (literally, I tried and failed. I collapsed).
I worked hard, got friends, etc. Going to the gym is the BEST THING YOU CAN DO. You don't have to talk to people. Just being there is good for you if you have trouble with strangers.

Don't wanna talk to people? Get headphones. Or, better yet, get headphones and a bicycle, as long as you're not riding in high-traffic areas. If I'm in public and my iPod batteries die out, I don't take my headphones off because they're a visible sign that I'm not listening to you.

As for the diet, the easiest thing for you to do is stay away from pop, candy, ice cream... pretty much anything that tastes sweet is just empty calories.

If you MUST snack, fruit fruit fruit fruit fruit. Buy a bag of good quality Red Delicious apples (crunchiest), slice some up, and snack on 'em. If you have a fruit dryer, even better; dried fruit is so convenient, you might start convincing yourself that it's candy. If you don't have a fruit dryer, you can buy dried fruit, just don't fall for anything in a crinkly wrap (that means fruit leather).

Ah, ok. I was thinking that if you don't have much of a social life, you probably have the time then to go to the gym. Social life generally cuts into my gym time as well though not too much if I can help it.

Anyways, I only been a member of one gym, for about 5 months now. At least in my gym people don't strike up conversations with random strangers. Should you ever join and start lifting you'll understand why: it's annoying to have your concentration broken when you're trying to focus. People just do their thing, and leave. No one pays attention to you either, unless you're some human monstrosity benching 40kilo dumbbells in each hand.

I would go so far as to add Whey Protein to the candy category, it is after all sweat, and milkshake like.

That's why I try not to drink a lot of whey protein, I think of it like soda.
