Walking Anonymous
Walking: how effective is it? Is it only for fatties--that are too physically inept to do anything else--and girls who like to pretend they're exercising?

Yesterday I walked from where I lived to the Eiffel Tower and back at a brisk pace. About 11 km (6.8 mi) total. Didn't feel shit.

Try jogging that, then tell me if you feel anything.

walking is exercise, because it's cardio.

Up the intensity if you don't think it's doing anything, or run instead.

LIES! If cinema has taught me anything, all houses in paris overlook the eiffel tower! There's no way you live 5.5KM from it!

Cardio my ass. I tried walking because running is fucking hard. I used to do 2 miles running at 6 mi/hours every day on the treadmill back when I was in the US and I was fucking tired even though that's a pretty slow pace / insignificant distance.

Look at google maps. Plus it's the streets in Paris are fucking crazy. There's no straight path from my house there.

you burn approximately 100 calories a mile. You managed to burn... about 700 calories. However, this doesn't take into account of hills or other factors.

Try pickying up the pace. The harder you make your body work, the more you burn. With a strong going heart at a steady pace, you could push that to about 1000 calories.

Lol, my situation is that when I walk, I feel nothing. When I jog or run, it hurts my knees and shit. So what the fuck amirite?

Which is better, running full speed downhill, or walking uphill?

WALKING UPHILL. You don't want shin splints, do you? That shit is a right pain in the ass the next day.

depends on how fast you go... but an uphill workout works you a lot harder, and is better. when you go downhill, gravity gets rid of most of the resistance
