many years ago I was in a hurry to lose weight so I went on the cabbage soup diet (sometimes called fat-burning soup diet)

I was miserable all week and starving constantly, but I muscled through it and exercised every day. lost about 30lbs in a week, which I know is incredible unhealthy.

but now I have friends who heard about the diet and wanna try it, and I want to disuade them from it, not only because diets are bad news in the 1st place, and a real change in eating habits is what loses weight and keeps it off. but because I think this diet in particular is bad news. but I don't have any real facts that back it up, anyone have more insight into the cabbage soup diet?

and before anyone jumps in saying "eating only cabbage soup is bad" check the diet out 1st, it lets you eat a pretty varied selection of real foods, but it's miserable, in my experience.

was running about 7 miles a day (treadmill) drinking a lot of water, and doing the diet.

and honestly it was only really hard the first like 3 days, then it isn't as bad, but I still question how healthy it is to do it.

i've never actually tried the diet so i have no idea as far as cold, hard facts.
30lbs a week....what the hell.....

Well, I've heard of 500 pound people losing 150 pounds in a month, so it's not always shocking.

Even gastric bypass surgery maxes out at like 60lbs in a month, doesn't it?

I will say this, though. Anything that triggers a loss of 30lbs in a week in ANY of its participants is bad, bad news. And you'll have flaps of skin hanging everywhere. Not very sightly.
