I tried making this thread a few hours ago, but something fucked up and I had to delete it two seconds later.
Anyway, I have shin splints, and need to swim instead of run for the next few weeks.

What is the best swimming stroke for overall fitness?

Dead man's float for about 30 minutes.

butterfly is most strenuous
breast allows easiest training of lungs (ie - breath control)
crawls are easy and A-OK

whatever you feel most comfortable with (though if you can do butterfly and aren't put off, then it's best)
