/fit/,
if I get my ear pierced tomorrow, will I be able to put a ring in straight away? I'm told I shouldn't, but...I don't really see why not.

You can't twist a ring in a complete circle. Rings are more likely to grow to the ear as it heals, and studs can be twisted freely.

So...are you saying I can or can't?

bah.
you're better off waiting a few weeks.
so you don't risk getting an infection.

that's why they tell you not to change your earring right away.

You can, you just shouldn't.

first of all it's studs that are more likely to have grown over not rings.you can floss the ring back and forth in the piercing which is only done to clean about two time a day for the first week or two.

now about the piercing. DO NOT GET THE PIERCING DONE WITH A GUN: you will be more likely to have an infection with the gun because it's pierced a 100 other peoples ears (which is not healthy at all) and that blood from those peoples piercings stays in the gun... it can't be cleaned.
I urge you to go to a professional piercing parlor and get it done. they will use a needle not a gun, it's it relatively painless and it's 100% sanitary and they put in a ring and give you instructions on how to take care of your new piercing instead of handing you a bottle of alcohol solution and say "squirt this on it twice a day"
