Your body can only metabolize about 50g/protein per hour, and you should try to never eat more than 1g/protein per pound of your body weight per day. If you are working out heavily, maintaining 150g of protein per day, and breaking that into 50g/hour chunks, you will have no adverse effects. If you take 300g of protein per day, you will be unable to metabolize that much protein and it will be processed by your kidneys and passed. Honestly though, you're worse off eating lots of pickles and alcohol though :P
