Welcome /fit/ ... welcome to my question.

I'm currently following an exercise plan and sticking with it. I am also paying a lot of attention to my diet, carbs before workout, protein after etc.

However, I work late nights some times, and its not realistic for me to get a decent carb meal in before my workout session after I finish work.

So my question is this, can the carbs found in sweets such as Haribo, Wine Gums, Jelly Babies etc be just as effective as carbs from foods like pasta, oatmeal etc?

Thanks.

OP here.

I should probably add the aim of my routine is to bulk up.

No, they are sugar based. Buy a loaf of bread and eat it, no preperation required.

Those carbs aren't complex carbs, they're just sugar and crap, basically .

OP: Thanks guys, I've only done this two nights in a row, so I don't think I'll have done too much damage, if any at all. I'll look into the bread as I can eat that too. How fast do you think bread will metabolise so I can use it when I lift? I usually eat carbs about an hour before hand.

No, No, No and NO.

seriously.

you need to do some reasearch on your own to fully understand the reasons. no answer here will be able to fully cover it.

there is a difference between High and Low Glycemic Carbohydrates, use that as a starting point in your research.
