hey /fit/, i've been lifting for quite a while and i've made good progress, my upper body is well developed... but.. my lower body?
It's not as good, i've nearly quit training my legs. I used to train it just as much as my other body parts but my knees are so bad(probably do to the fact that i used to be quite fat(and they sometimes make a crackling sound)).

They have their ups and downs, sometimes they're good but sometimes they're REALLY bad, so i've kind of just fallen out of training my legs. I've sometimes tried starting to train them again but when my knee starts acting up i fall out of it again...

give me some advice /fit/,

something else thaN MOAR SQUATZ'N'MILK, DEADLIFTS, TRAIN LEGZ

picture a little related, not that bad though

get a race bike.
You'll get thighs of steel.

up you fish oil intake, like 20g a day, up your good fats.

warm up on a bike to get all the cracks and pops out
stretch your quads

warm up with the bar.

practice goblet squats (google fag)

stop being a faggot.

if you need more hypertrophy do 20 reps at your 10 rep max (doesn't make sense but its doable) dont put hte bar down till you are done. do this 2x a week, thats all you do for a leg workout

no you wont. you will think you have strong thighs till you try and get under the squat bar and crush yourself

that may be true, but you'll get endurance muscle.

OP here, what about kneestraps? How do those niggers work?

what the fuck is a kneestrap

You know the shit that people wrap around their knees to increase the pressure in the knee joints when they're training legs. I don't know what it's called in english(english is not my native language)

probably not if you aren't squatting like 225 at least

you knees will be in better shape if you squat allll the way down, like knees at a 30 degree angle closed

is related to my thread at>>146892
I would say just do whatever you can without injuring yourself, and make sure you're doing something, at least. Try hiking some hilly trails (like several miles at a time) with a heavy pack. Biking and swimming might be good ideas for you, too. You probably won't get huge legs swimming, but you can avoid letting them get ridiculously out of shape.

>HURR I WANT ADVICE BUT I DON'T WANT THE BEST ONES

DO YOU THINK WE RECOMMEND SQUATS FOR NOTHING? IT'S THE BE-ALL AND END-ALL OF LIFTING EXERSICES. WANT BIGGER LEGS? SQUAT!

not totally true, really really tall people like 6'5 find it hard to hit full depth in a squat due to their femur length. if their goal is quad development they might be better off hitting a legpress. but its 95% true that squats are best

I hate to say it but SQUATZ. If you really want to murder them google up box squats which make the regular kind look like a workout for wusses.

you probably won't see significant growth till you hit about 400. I'm at 300 now and I'm just starting to see development.

that's a poor excuse for not doing squats

true.

people start lifting weights and get a little stronger and think they are king shit and go "im already strong, im just looking to tone now, dont wanna get too huge" are the same people who have never felt 300lbs on their back, and have never understood what it feels like to move serious weight. they are lying to themselves and taking the easy way out.

they then start to criticize those who are larger as a byproduct of busting their ass to get that strong, calling them meatheads, slowpokes, and musclebound.

im not a tall person, i use squats. they still squat too. im just saying if they are looking to put size on their quads, at their height and frame dimensions, a leg press is going to be better. its very hard to get a quad dominant squat when you femur is 2 feet long. its going to be all hips.

please dont mindlessly just say squats squats squats. i agree for 98% of the population they are great. you just have to do some critical thinking.

i never use the leg press or machines, all of my leg workouts are SLDLs, lunges, front squats, back squats, good morning, split squats etc. but i have average skeletal dimensions

Short lunges. Long longes work the glutes, but short lunges work quads.

ONE LEGGED PISTOLS. SLOWLY . see how many you can do , then do HALF of your maximum. dont do sets. just see how many you can randomly fit in the day. that will make your legs strong real quick (compared to burning out your muscles) and it should be easier on your knees if your doing way less than your maximum. this kind of method is for strength not size tho. once they get strong maybe you can start burning em out again if your concerned about size but getting big is seriously shooting yourself in the foot

why is it shooting yourself in the foot.

what what do you consider "big"
