Boxing or kickboxing. They both require a lot of athleticism.

If you want INSANE endurance, go for boxing.

Then it should be fine. TKD at least used to have a reputation for being really tough before it was watered down, so if you've found a good school then go for it. I can't say the same about Shotokan though since it was originally meant to be a modified form of karate for elementary school kids.

Kyokushin and its derivative styles. All of them are full contact fighting styles.

Judo or BJJ, seriously, especially if you can find a good teacher from Brazil. I had a Judo and BJJ instructor from Brazil, and a regular part of our conditioning was to climb a rope with only our hands, while holding our legs straight out in front.

I was thinking of Judo because it's been recommended to me.

I'd like to get as much input from /fit/ as possible.

from the strength and conditioning aspect, MMA and judo are going to be the heaviest on mainstream anaerobic sports strength and performance enhancement

you can train football, MMA, judokas, oly lifters, and powerlifters all together during the off-season. very similar 'general needs'. i dont know about the more esoteric martial arts, but these are the ones i've had personal experience w/in the S and C world.

Jits depends on the school, if you have lots of Randori(rolling, practice) it can be very athletic. But the traditional school I go to I get to roll maybe once a month, they're all about technique and self defense rather than competition. there's no conditioning at all involved. Maybe if you go to a brazilian school that has competitions it'll be a worthwhile work out.
