Do a diagnostic. See how many pushups / situps you can do in an hour. Then run 2 miles, and see how long it takes you.
After that, go talk to a recruiter. They have plans, books on how to improve. They also probably PT.
If you live near a college, find out if they have an ROTC program. Join it. Be an officer, dont enlist.
