since you're going for fat loss, your best bet is to focus on low-intensity, long-duration aerobic exercise, such as a nice, long walk. the reason why, btw, is that the breakdown of fat energy is relatively slow, as compared to burning up stored glycogen (that's basically the storage form of carbohydrates). since you're just starting, try going for slow, but long (the more hours the better) walks. as you get better and more confident, work up to long-distance mid-intensity runs, like marathons (26.2 miles) or even ultramarathons (49.9 miles) if you're feeling epic-fat is a major energy source used for those kinds of exercises, as well. keep in mind, though, that we use some combination of carb and fat for energy. at rest, we rely mostly on fats, but at maximal effort, we rely mostly on stored carbohydrate energy.

I don't see why not, you'd still be expending energy, as long as you're still sticking with low-to-mid intensity and with long duration, it'd still work.oh, and one other tip, too: don't forget fluids! water will do fine if your exercise is around an hour or so, if it's signifigantly longer, consider a sport drink for fluid and electrolyte balance-the sodium's to replace what's lost in sweat, and sugars are for maintaining blood glucose levels. also, I'd generally avoid anything carbonated, high in fructose, or caffeinated, either. being a desert dweller, I've found that you can't underestimate the importance of keeping up with fluid intake, both for body heat management and fluid balance!
