what is the best way to change up a sleeping schedule?

I've slowly developed going to sleep at 4 am and getting up at almost exactly 1, sometimes it varies if I try a quick fix change

it'll go from going to sleep at 2-3 and waking up from 10-12 but I want something more long term

wtb tips advice, anything

going to sleep 20-30 minutes earlier each night or waking up 20-30 minutes earlier > staying up a whole extra day

That is a very slow way. OP's best bet is to stay up the night then go to bed at a decent or desired time the next day. Then take a nap for an hour and NO MORE THAN AN HOUR each day from then on.

Naps are fucking wonderful - they train your brain get into REM faster, which is the most restful period. The trick is to keep napping, every day, consistently. I wouldn't take a nap <6 hours before bed time though, as it could truly fuck your schedule up.

I personally find I also do better with 6 hours of sleep plus my .5-1.5 hour nap taken midday (ciesta, fuck yeah). If I sleep any longer at night I just feel like shit the whole day.

Those of us who aren't unemployed layabouts can't do this.
