Dear /fit/,
I'm looking to lose some weight and have been setting up an exercise program. I've got a weight training routine set up and now I'm looking at cardio options. I had an evaluation by my doctor and she said my knees were in pretty bad shape, so I should avoid anything that sends a good shock up my leg(Jogging on sidewalks/concrete, etc). What does /fit/ suggest I should try?

Also, I'm currently without adequate funding for a decent bike. So bicycling isn't really an option.

I think my friend has one of those little mini-cycle things. You know, they're basically pedals on a base, would it be worth bumming off her?

Bumping to keep opinions(Hopefully useful ones) coming

Swimming for absolute minimum impact on joints, and you might consider slow squat progression to strengthen your knees(depending on why theyre bummed)

About how slow would we be talking? Cause if the doc says they can be worked with, I'd like to fix this rather than just work around it.

Bumping in hopes that I might get at least a ball park figure for what>>235974is talking about.

rehab times are very specific. anyone who can give you a time without a shitload more details (like your chart, for example) is lying. Anyway, if you're worried about jogging on sidewalks, a squat progression is probably a little further down the line.

Alright, something more to talk to the doc about when I go in for my follow-up. Thanks for the feedback.
