Hey /fit/.
Hopefully you guys can help me. I use to train about a year ago, i was 15, now i am 16, almost 17. I just rained enough to be in good shape for hoceky and lacrosse. I stoped training cause i was doing well in these sports. I'm heading to junior lacrosse now, 16-21 years of age, and i'll probably be the smallest guy in the league( I'm 5'9" 159 lbs). So i've been training again for the past month to get rid of a bit of belly fat and get bulk.

Now heres my question; is creatine safe at my age, and if not, what should i try.

dl;tr I'm and want to know if i can take creatine safely

I don't see any reason why it would work differently on someone your age, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Fail.

Protein will never ever turn to fat. It is chemically impossible. You body will however, get rid of it for energy if you starve yourself or stop using it. The reason that people with muscle get fat is because their bodies are used to absorbing a high amount of calories to fuel the exercises which they no longer do. This leads to your body thinking it needs to store lots of fat to keep up with the energy demand even though there is no energy demand.

Protein is the ONLY possible way to fuel muscle growth because muscle itself is protein.

I usually just mix my Creatine + Whey Protein in water before I go to my weightlifting class at school. And don't worry about faggots at school. Just tell them what you're adding in your drink.

I honestly don't know. I've never tried them myself but I'm pretty sure they're the same as if you're mixing it in with your Whey Protein.

If I had to take pills with Creatine in it, I'd just chug my Whey Protein shake down with my Creatine pills.

Anyways, I forgot to add that I heard taking Creatine + Whey Protein you build up your muscle mass a little faster.

Creatin just fills your muscles up with water. It won't make you stronger but i guess it's ok if you just want a little bulk. Also, 100% Whey goes a long way.

Doesnt creatine add water to your muscle cells for teh first week, then what it does is change adp(the by product of atp, which gives energy) into atp again?

It'll convert the adp to atp but the time it takes for it to happen is more than a week and during that time water builds up in your muscles and doesn't do anything but make you look bigger. You may have more energy during your workout but the muscle you gain is mostly water.

Creatine Monohydrate increases cell volumisation so that more water is absorbed by the muscle tissue to make you feel bloated for the time you're on it, increase water weight as well as the temporary fueling in the ATP energy system.

Now put 2 and 2 together, muscle tissue is 70% H2O. More water = More muscle tissue.
By the end of the cycle you'll lose the water weight but you would generally have more gains than if you were to have not been on the cycle altogether - Well worth the money.

Of course, diet is everything. Creatine is but a supplement.

Is taking more than 5g of creatine mono a day harmful?

I was told 5g in the morning and 5g 1 hour pre-workout.

I've been taking 5g of creatine for a month, and have not noticed any muscle size difference or water weight gain. I do seem to have plenty of energy in the gym, though, and it is the cheapest supplement out there.


I'd like to hear if any of you can share a compelling reason for somebody NOT to take creatine.

There's no harm in trying it, just make sure you drink lots of water. Also, my doctor advised me not to use anti-inflammatories for some reason. Just sharing.

I've been using creatine for two months and I've gained 15 pounds between working out and using it as a supplement.

there is really no concrete SUPA BESUTO way to take creatine. though most sources i read recommend 3-6 grams PWO only. loading is old guard and has not been proven to show more gains in the long term.
