Overtraining? Anonymous
Sup /fit/, been working out a few weeks. When I started I could do like 4 pullups (not much). Now I can only do like 2. I have been resting adequately, stretching, doing cardio, doing everything. Mostly on a routine of weighted pushups and pistols with some pullups and jumping rope.

I've been resting every other day pretty much, but my arms don't seem to be recovering. I simply cannot do pullups as well as I could before (and I had basically never worked out)

I'm a pretty high ectomorph, 6' 145 pounds. Been eating lots of protein and carbs, lots of everything to bulk up.

If I am overtraining, how do I fix it? I don't see how it's possible however. Something else wrong?

I've had like 3x 2day rest periods so far. Only thing I do on those days is work (cashier) and ride my bike 4 miles at a leisurely pace to work. Is there something in particular I can do on my rest days to speed recovery?

No you rest nothing speeds recovery
No you aren't over training

Mesomorph here. When I started I could only do 8 pullups. Now I do 6 sets of 10 reps. Bwahahaha!

No but seriously, sometimes resting every other day isn't enough. Give it 3 days then hop to it again.

btw overtraining would be doing everything twice a day for 7 days a week. I did and messed up my joints. Be committed but don't be too aggressive to the point where your body's healing can't keep up.

yeah definitely not over training.
i get the same thing occasionally.
it's probably your rest being inadequate BUT don't worry about that, you say 2 days? 48-96 hours is said to be what it takes to recover, 96 being fully recovered. what may be happening is your body is slow at recovery. so keep up with what you are doing and let your body catch up. make it suit you not you suit it. a week of recovery may be what your body wants, but it is not viable to have that kind of time off as you wont make sufficient gains. every second day is optimal for muscular gains so 3 times a week.

but if I'm not getting enough rest, isn't that the definition of overtraining?

I hate over training with a passion for fashion.

Ectomorphs especially have trouble with this OP. We tend to not eat enough so it just takes more time. Period.

I just went to a friends at 5pm only having eaten 2100 calories (and I was trying pretty fucking hard) then I had a cheat meal of like 3 little debby honey buns, a roast beef and american shit cheese sandwich, and some strawberry soda.

feels bad man, like I really cheated and it wasn't even on something that tastes amazing

I just took an awful shit. Fuck cheat meals in the ass unless they're chinese or mexican

any moar advice or is thread destined to die?

up your protien intake, up your healthy carbs (oatmeal, etc.) get a better multivitamin, take 1 weak off every month or so to get fully recovered,
