How does I stand up? Anonymous
How can I improve my posture, either sitting or standing? I was thinking of tai chi or yoga, if you guys know of any beter training methods for posture post them.

Does anyone here use those ergonomic chairs? Do they work?

Does anyone use those insoles that's supposed to help you stand straighter?

Any back exercise, especially your lower back, will give you better posture but it's usually just making a conscious effort to stand up straight. After a few days you'll start doing it naturally.

E.g. handstands, done properly. That is, hands ~10 inches from the wall, only heels touching the wall and trying to be as straight as possible. Hold for ~10 breaths. Do this many times throughout the day, whenever you have a minute to spare.

Any type of martial art or madative art will improve posture over time. Though it is trough comstant reminder from instruters and comrades in training.
If you really want to improve you posture you are simply going to have to remind your self... Take a deep breath, sit up straight relax your sholders and look ahead at what life is bringing you.
Also try practicing in the mirror. Look at yourself to make sure your at your desired stance. Make a drawn out mental note of how that feels to each part of your body. Then prectice that feeling through out the day.
Remember it won't happin in in one day. It will take practice and constant self reminder.
When your are out and about remember on old japanese proverb. (ruff trans.) ''Walk as though you have purpose. You will be looked upon as though you due.'' So walk with purpose my freind.

I've been going to the gym and just been doing regular stuff, and i've noticed my posture has improved alot just by strengthening my back muscles.

I noticed that doing deadlifts and squats has greatly improved my posture because the correct form requires you push your chest out and keep the back slightly arched.

I have a kneeling chair that takes the pressure off your butt and hips and lower back. Retail about $70. I find it very comfortable.
