sup /fit/,

got a problem here. back a year or so ago when I was a major wowfag I played pretty much all day everyday, and somewhere in there I pulled a 48 hour wow binge and could feel how strained my hand would get from clicking

fast forward to a year later, I still have occasional strain whenever I type on the computer and I spend 3-4hours on the computer every day, max and not playing wow

so my question is, does the strain/slight pain in my right hand sound like a repetitive stress injury or carpal tunnel? and what's the diff?

and any tips to fix it would help, if I need to stay clear of the comp for a few weeks I'll do it

How much pain? If its not enough to piss you the hell off, its probably not carpal tunnel.

Use an elastic band around your fingers to strengthen the extensor muscles.

Expand your fingers out with the band around the tips.

well for instance i've only been on the comp for like half an hour or so now barely typing just f5ing and browsing and it's noticeable to put an ice pack on it or something

and during the day it's noticeable too even when im not on the comp, not shitawful pain but a discomfort i'd like to correct

Definitely not carpal tunnel then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Gray422.png

You'd be alot more uncomfortable if it was.

Well CTS is a type of RSI.

I have CTS and I'll tell you that theres no perfect set of rules for what the pain is like. It can just be discomfort to full out HOLY FUCKING SHIT OW, it can be in your wrist, hand or arm. Get it checked, don't try to self diagnose and don't ignore the pain.
