weight vests, useful or not?

Useful, you can focus on the movement your doing without worrying about weight swinging. They are great for running. If you run in one for two miles and then take it off, you will be fucking fast. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish, though. The running/athletic uses are the most beneficial but unless you're already accustomed to a movement you're doing (agility work or running for example) then I would bypass it.

Very useful, just do not over work yourself, it can do a lot of damage to your body. A good two months will have you incredibly strong. Your legs will be very strong, then all activities that you normally do. Pretty much the only thing that doesn't get worked is your arms.

Me I wear one all the time at the office to make my cubicle a bit of a gym. I do a few good mornings and squats along with some pushups (which I only do outside, far far away from the disgusting smokers.) Wholly encouraged by my superiors too since the company offers it's own health plan.

cool. I've been looking into buying one, but their pretty expensive, so I wanted to know if it was worth it first. I may go with the x-vest, since even though it costs the most I can be sure it won't be crap.

I wouldn't use them for running very often though.

They can lead to joint problems and what not. Definitely good for bodyweight exercises though, weighted pull ups ftw.

I recently got a 50lb vest for $160 from this guy:

Came in four days ago. I've worked out with it twice (not yet up to the full 50lb), and messed around with it a bit (at the full 50), and I'm pleased with it so far.

you should be careful with those. unless you train alot and add the weight slowly you could fuck up your knees and joints while running

Cheapest weighted vest is to buy some chain and some twine; make some chainmail-ish stuff.

Cheaper than a real vest, and you can just add some chains whenever you want it heavier.
