hey /fit/, ive had lower back/hip pain for about a year now. i get when im sitting. i have good posture, and dont slouch when im sitting down. i was talking with someone, and they mentioned i might have a herniated disc (im play sports). but from my understanding herniated discs are very painful, and the pain i get is more of a nuisance than anything. im also only 20.

what you think, Anonymous M.D.?

Do you carry your weight on one leg when you're standing still very often? This could cause your pelvis to actually become dislodged. It is a simple thing to fix, though.

Me too, but it was about the only thing I could come up with that could afflict an otherwise healthy person...

Is the pain superficial, or does it feel deep, like on or around the bones?

If it is deep, it is probably just a nerve rubbing against bone, but I'm pretty sure only a medical professional will be able to tell you what it is and administer treatment, sadly.

That's crazy, I do that all the time when standing. But granted that's not that often for long periods. I was made fun of it by some people because I guess it made me look kinda gay to have my pelvis to one side and sorta leaning on it.

hm, yeah, it is a deep pain. i can feel the soreness near the bone. was planning on seeing a doctor, but i just fear the diagnosis

I'm no doctor, but chances are it isn't something that'll get better or worse by ignoring it. It is just something you'll have to get treated if you don't want the pain.

So the pain is on the right side, near the bone, and only when sitting. In my completely unmedical opinion, it is likely a pinched nerve; sitting down stretches it out far enough to contact the pelvic bone.

could be, would make the most sense. but man, ive had this for the longest time.

Hah, just looked up pinched nerve and pain isn't listed as a sympton.

Just shit all over my theory, Google. Go ahead.

I have fucking awful posture and a long torso, and my mid and lower back used to hurt a lot. I know it wasn't my back muscles since I'm a rower. I started working abs every day and the pain's pretty much gone. Cheers.

Meh, I must be tired. Even the source I looked at had "radiating pain" listed in there.

Oh well. Fuck Google anyways.
