Muscle gain Anonymous
Hey /fit/ need help... i been working out for about 3 years now but haven't much of an over all development of physique.. yes i have lost over 40 pound of fat and gain some muscle but its still almost nothing...my biceps still look skinny as well as me... i have not gone to the gym in about a week and i was told i start losing muscle after two days of rest.

It can take muscles up to ten days just to fully repair from lifting.

generally, a week is taken as rest between working the same muscle set twice. the general rule, however, is that after effectively working a muscle set, you have to let them rest for 48 hours before doing it again. larger muscle groups take longer. curls, bench press, shrugs and the like will take you out for 48 hours. squats should be at least 72.

that being said, i rest from 4-5 days between repeating exercizes. a week might look like M-chest and shoulders, T-rest, W-back and biceps, Th-legs, F-chest and shoulders, St-rest, Sn-back and biceps.

There is no "general rule" like that. You're talking a bodybuilder split, and that's not for everyone. Olympic lifters train the same lifts every day six days a week, and beginners on Rippetoe's plan do squats 3 times a week.
