I used to go to the gym when I was in high school and I couldn't gain *any* muscle mass because my metabolism is so fast. Recently I have been reading up on it and it seems like it's gonna be too much of a hassle to eat 6 times a day and maintain protein intake...

Haha. I'm an ectomorph like OP, though I've gained a good bit of weight. I don't use weights or anything, didn't ever bother think to with them.

I do calisthetics twice a day, and since my apartment is near a playground and I smoke, whenever I go out, I do pull ups on the jungle gym.

Even as an ectomorph I've gained 20 pounds and gotten enough muscle that other people notice it. People will tell you to eat 6 meals a day, lift super heavy weights, etc, etc. It's bullshit OP. Eat when you're hungry, sleep when you're tired. Other then that, it's all about three P's. Patience, Preserverance, and Stop fucking procrastinating. As long as you do, keep doing it, and do more/harder as you go, any kind of workout will help you out. And go at your own pace, it's not a race, so don't get discouraged if someone outdoes you with less training.

Lots and lots of wide-armed pushups, with weights if possible. It worked for me. Hell, I'd often do them in lieu of anything else. To this day I look like an out-of-shape skinny nerd except for my built pecs, lol.

best advice in the thread. Look at the military, no weights, no powders, 3 meals a day, and they manage it. It's keeping with it more then anything. If you like weights, do weights. If you like calisthenics, do calithenics, if you like both, do both. LIFE LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER works as well as PUSHUP/HINDU DAND LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER if you do it constantly over a long peroid of time
