Hey /fit/,

Is doing 3-4 sets of 8-10 reps completely useless? If I should be going heavier, how do I determine how much I should increase the weight?

just keep adding 0.5 pounds at a time if you can

You want to absolutely struggle to finish the last rep on your third set. Adjust weight up or down to achieve that effect.

8-10 reps is more centered towards muscle mass development.

It's not useless by any means, it's just an exercise with different goals.

The smallest increase available in your gym.

This thread inspired a question from me. I am currently doing 3 sets and 20 reps of curls with a 30 lb barbell.. I only have 1 bar and I can take weights on and off.. I have 6 more lbs I can put on but I cannot do 20 curls with the 36 lb dumbell. I want to my muscles to get bigger what sets/reps should I do?
