I do a couple hundred push-ups a day, but I don't really do that much cardio because I figure I'm walking all the time anyway. Somebody told me that I'm doing too many push-ups and that I'm overtraining. Am I? I mean, my money is tight right now and push-ups are the cheapest thing possible. Am I going anything unhealthy?

Put your feet up on a chair amnd do those push-ups; when that is easy, put your feet on your kitchen counter; when that is easy, start doing handstand push-ups with your feet balancing your body on a wall. Finally, for great justice, do handstand push-ups without the wall to balance you.

Also, one-arm pushups and some pull-ups. Do something for legs as well.

Thank you very much sir. Would doing these things give me at least an average/good looking/healthy body? I'm concerned about my health. But I heard that building muscle doesn't burn fat, just adds on to it. Anyway, I will do what you have suggested. Thank you.

Your muscle is proportional to your metabolism.

More muscle, faster metabolism, less fat

Addendum;
Make sure you are taking in enough protein. You'd be surprised how much it can stymie muscle building even if you think you are getting enough.

I tried doing them on a chair, they were pretty easy so I went to the kitchen counter. They seemed to be just as easy...I think I may be doing something wrong. My feet were hurting after a short while so I guess my feet placement wasn't correct.

Here are some dudes who can do handstands easily. Musculature tends to be quite good on the shoulders, chest, and triceps; but one-armed probably hits the chest even more. As always, dieting is important for muscle definiton, but realistically, few people can do bodyweight exercises well unless they keep thin.

Try something higher up than the counter for foot placement, or graduate to doing handstands on the wall. Either way, better than grinding out hundreds of easy push-ups.

Also, do one-armed push-ups. If easy, then elevate feet on two chairs; if easy, on the counter; if easy... do one armed handstands, you beast.

Thanks, but the thing is, my toes start to hurt after awhile...How can I avoid that? Otherwise I'll do these push-ups every day and try to improve my fitness. Thanks man.

It should be putting less weight on your toes than normal by elevating them, so that is strange. Maybe try doing them in shoes for support, clean ones with newspaper covering the chair or counter, if hygiene is needed. Also, don't rest them on the edge of the chair or counter, but on the top surface a bit back from the edge, just the way you'd rest them level on the ground.

So, if I do this would I not have to do insane cardio to get rid of love handles?

Vary your pushups to work different parts of the body. Fuck your mate. Ballpushups, diamond and tricep mostly. Do lunges and squats (sorry) and squat jumps too. Dips.

Pushup overtraining is when your pecs outstrip a woman for boob size.

Not a crazy amount, but a few times a week for 45 minutes, along with dieting. In order to grow stronger, you'd have phases where you'd eat a little more than you need, too.

Do you have a back pack? Put something heavy in it, and do your pushups.
