Hullo /fit/, I'm 15 years old, about 5'11 and weigh 66kg and am looking for a way to bulk up.
I currently do around 100 push ups a night and have two 5kg dunbells which I sometimes do bicep curls and weighted squats with.
My chest area is satisfactory and my triceps are toned from the push ups. I'm generally muscular but in a thin way. I'm naturally thin, and my arms in general are lacking. My diet consists mainly of carbodyhrates (I eat loads of toast with peanutbutter, wheat bix, pasta) and I try to get protein whenever I can. I have no weights equipment except for the 5kg dunbells and I don't have much money to spend on food (poor)
I try to work on my arms as much as I can but they don't really get bigger, rather they become more muscular and toned but not bulky. Perhaps this is due to diet or I'm just not working hard enough?

You're all backwards.

More protein. (Beans are cheap, bulk tuna is cheap)

More fats. (Bulk olive oil, all varieties of nuts if they aren't too expensive.)

Less bread carbs. (Get all your carbs from beans or oatz ideally)

Lower reps with added weight. (8-12 pushups with something heavy on your back)

Also weighted Chinups.

Weighted Hill Sprints for legs.

3x a week (Push day, Pull day, Legs day). Progress each week.

Yeah, I thought too many carbs also.
I have plenty of oats, and I'll try get some more beans.
Maybe I could put the dunbells into a bag and put that on my back while doing pushups?
I'd have to do the chinups outside, from the sunshade rafters or at the local park.
Loads of hills where I live, I've been doing sprints lately and I'll try your suggestion.
Thanks for the advice

100 pushups at one go?
or 100 pushups broken up into sets?
try variations of pushups: decline, divebombers and plyos.

awesome anon is awesome.

I might add a couple of ideas too.

If you can tolerate it, drink whole milk. Lots. It is a great and relatively cheap source of protein and calories.

Forget isolation shit like curls, etc.

Do weighted and inverted pushups (backpack on back with feet on a table, for example). Your goal should be to do lower numbered heavier reps. Don't "go to failure" on everything, as it sounds like you are inclined to do.

If you can afford a chin up bar, you will have all the back and bicep workout you need. As soon as you hit 10 reps, wear a back pack. Start adding weight. Try not to go over 12-16 reps. Once you can't add anymore weight, you should be a fucking brick house if you are eating and sleeping enough.

My parents buy full fat milk so I try and get as much of that as I can.
I usually do the pushups in lots of 20 and take a minutes break. Because my weights are all light and I'm not very heavy myself I tend to end up doing lots of repetitions.
Normally I do knuckle push ups.
I just checked out decline and plyo pushups, they look good. I'll give them a shot.
How much would a chin up bar cost roughly?

Whatever you are drinking, double it.

Chin up bar. You can get one from a "big5" type place for $10 on the right day. The cool shit is that this type of thing is "LULZ old" by faggots and their fancy schmancy gym memberships. so laugh at them. If you seriously google "chin up bar doorway" you should get enough hits and whatnot. Watch out for shipping costs. Big5, walmart, etc. You will find one.

Your push up sets are to high and too many.

Think about gravity, and like I said, you can make them a whole lot harder and "heavier" with different angles.

Shoot for 8-12 reps max, 5 sets max. Better if you can get reps down to 6-8, but that might be a fuckhuge backpack.

Same for your chins.

Not sure if you can do chins at the moment, but just remember to put the bar in a conspicuous area so you are temptred to do them frequently, don't go to failure, and eat and sleep like your life depends on it.

Chicken is a pretty cheap source of protein in America, but wheatabix sounds like you are an aussie? Not sure what the going rate is. How about eggs? jack up your eggs, they should be relatively cheap.

Best of luck anon.

I just realized, you are not likely to have American retailers in oz.

Haha, close guess. I'm actually from New Zealand.
15 x 3 decline pushups with a 5kg weight. It was a lot harder and less monotonous.
My mum actually has a chicken coop, conveniently. I don't usually eat many of them because she sells them off to friends, but yeah I could eat plenty of those.
That chinup bar is looking pretty good, I'll see if I can get one of those.
I'll make some oatz in the morning.
Thanks for all your help

a minute break between pushups?
do sth useful in between and a minute break for pushups is too much for your level imo.
do some jumping jacks, squats, mountain climbers etc
eg.
pushups
squats
incline pushups
jumping jacks
plyo pushups
leg lifts
divebombers
squat jumps

Look beyond OP.

I bet there are a bunch of guys in the exact same situation that can use this thread for advice.

I'm one, college has me in the same position as him.
