/fit/ I'm fat and I want to not be fat anymore. But I've very self conscious about my weight at times... especially when I work out in public, which I haven't done in ages.

I want to join a gym soon. But as I said I'm kind of self conscious... so my question is what does /fit/ think of fat asses in gyms?

Do you secretly kind of laugh of at the fatass? Or do you at least respect the person for trying to better themselves. Or do you ultimately not really give a fuck and this is all just me being totally insecure and self conscious?

OP, see thread at
>>41479

tl;dr? /fit/ is self-absorbed and has no tolerance for people new to fitness, people who are fat, or people who can't lift hueg weights. Also, they laugh at fatasses.

UR RIGHT FAGGOT I ALWAYS LAUGH AT THE FATTIES.
>> Anonymous
I used to stand at 5'7" and weighed 220 pounds. Lots of aerobic exercise, low cal diet. Don't eliminate the nutrients you need, just cut back on calories so your body burns from your fat cells.

Self-conscious = fail. Don't worry about what anyone has to say, just do what you have to do.

Whenever there's a fat guy in the gym, no matter how huge, they just sort of blend into the sea of sweaty disgusting repulsiveness that is a public gym. NO ONE goes there trying to look good, save for attention seeking teenage girls. They're usually the ones I silently laugh at.

This one day at the gym a random girl walked up to me and hit on me BECAUSE I looked so much better then when I first started going.

Stop being a little pussy faggot and go to the fucking gym.
>> Anonymous
I'll be honest, I just go in there and get my shit done and get out, I really don't give a damn about others unless it's a friend there or I'm asking someone to spot me/give assisted reps type of stuff
>> Ego !ALkmCt2Pww
Depends how fat, if youre 40 or so pounds overweight I would just think that you are bulking to get big, which is normal.
If you are like 60 or so pounds I would just think to myself that you will most likely stop coming to the gym in a month (prove me wrong).
If you are nearing 100 pounds overweight I would be like DAMN THAT GUYS FUCKING HUEG!!!

Seriously, why give a fuck? Those people that look at you and say something once or twice will forget about you soon enough. Its not like they will take a picture of you and make it into some meme, youve really got nothing to worry about.
Just think that you are doing it all for yourself, no one else. Not for your friends, your family, or that hot girl you met. You are doing it for YOU, and damn right its fucking selfish, because its your body, your existence, and you make the fucking rules.

ITT:lies
it's a fact OP if your a fat fuck prepared for shame

Maybe they'll make fun of you, and maybe they won't.

But if you don't go, you're not going to get any skinnier.
>> Anonymous
Will you get stared at? Yes. Because that's all we do, we go to the gym and pretend to work out but we're all really staring at the fatasses.
>> Anonymous
a majority of people are too self concious about their own appearance to even think of commenting to themselves about yours.

fact.
>> Guil
What you CAN do is spend some money and buy xanax from your local drug dealer, then enjoy your lack of care that anyone is seeing you at the gym.
>> Rochambeau !Eu5BrP0pAY
Just go to the gym and get to work. If you focus on your workout, you won't care what others think.
>> Anonymous
After reading a couple threads here from disgruntled fat people sick of getting stared at at the gym, I decided to take care to ignore them like I do everyone else. Then I thought about it and realized that I really respect anyone who tries to change their body instead of just sitting around and whining so why would I stare?

Not that people won't.

If you are a fatass, you should be accustomed to people secretly laughing at you, because (even if you aren't aware of it) I guarantee they are doing it all the time in your daily life.

Why should the gym be any different? Get to it fatty.
>> Anonymous
nobody will look at you or care about you

They'll laugh at you....but they're already laughing. Get healthy and kick their asses. /thread
>> boneration !7k4hwAY0ew
I have nothing but respect for fat motherfuckers at the gym. It's the only place I respect them; it's the only place that I KNOW they are trying to better themselves. Like other posters have said, everyone is already laughing at you behind your back, fattie. Get to the gym, some folks might laugh there too but anyone with any sense is gonna think "good job taking the bull by the horns."

Go in the morning, gyms are busiest in the afternoon when people get off work.

I just joined and I feel fine, other than thinking I looked stupid on the exercise ball, but otherwise I felt fine.

This. It's the one place I feel fatties belong.

absolutely nobody cares about you, not even enough to laugh

Whenever I see a fatass at the gym I think it's great they are doing something about their weight instead of sitting in front of the TV binging food.

i dunno how true this is, when i'd be driving to work planet fitness would have a FULL parking lot at 7am, NO open spaces. unbelievable.

i respect them to an extent for at least trying, though i do expect most of them to quit. but overall, i can't say i think much about anybody else at the gym.
>> Anonymous
it only matters in the long run. when you're fit and in the habit of healthy living, you're gonna feel even better about the progress you made.
>> Anonymous
I'm quite huge (lost 15kg from going to the gym so far, but still a long way to go) and I totally don't notice if anyone is manning the harpoons or whatever.
That being said, it does feel like the trainers seem to notice me more than other people, which I guess is a good thing.

I go to the gym regularly and I must admit, I love seing fat people there. This is because nothing annoys my more than fat people who are overweight due to their own poor diet/lifestyle and are too lazy to do anything about it.

ITs good to see some initiative.
>> Anonymous
If you're in a gym, I already respect you more than the fatties I see outside of the gym. So just go to the gym and try your hardest to lose some weight, if you keep at it and go about it properly you'll lose the weight and not need to worry about it anymore.
>> Anonymous
When I see a fatty at the gym, I get all warm and fuzzy inside and want to mentor them. Go for it, OP. GO FOR IT! Some fags will laugh at you, but there will be people there who are rooting for you too.
>> Anonymous
Seriously, I WAS a fatty, but once I got the courage to go to the gym, I found out those really built guys at the gym will be the first to help you out. Now I'm proud to say I do the same.
>> Anonymous
>>43049
It's so true. Again with that fuzzy feeling and mentoring thing.
>> Anonymous
OP here. Yeah so my insecurity sounds really stupid and I realize people probably laugh behind my back already.

But still, thanks /fit/ I now feel much more confident about going to a gym and bettering myself. I've already got a handful of places that I'm going to check out for memberships.

Thanks /fit/!

...this is the first time anything on 4chan has ever made me feel good about myself...

I laugh at fat people all the time. But NEVER at the GYM. If fat people wanna better them selves then they are no different than anyone that wants to better them selves. Just fucking take your ass to the GYM stop giving a fuck about what other people think about you. And work your ass off, because the feeling of having someone notice how awesome you are doing, and how much weight you have lost is an awesome feeling.
Take this all from a guy that started off at 370lbs in November of 06 with over 40% body fat. At which point I couldn't even bench 200lbs.
Today 300 lbs, I can run 2 miles with out stopping, I can squat over 450lbs, bench over 350, deadlift over 550, and clean & jerk over 250. So if my fat ass can do it, so can you.
Don't let nothing hold you back, from your goals.

Can you please be the mod for /fit/ here? Like ZC on 7chan, would help clean this shithole of a board up.
>> Captain Fitness formerly Yoshi ? !ozOtJW9BFA
>>43555
O.o I don't know how to go about doing something like that.
>> Anonymous
>>43558
I dunno, ask Moot? The least this board needs is a general sticky that answers the basic "GET BUFF" and "GET SKINNY" questions so that it doesn't make up two thirds of the traffic here.

When I was a fatty I was way too self conscious to go to the gym. I would walk around and around the same path so no-one would see my sweaty and red face. It wasn't until I lost most of my weight that I would step in the door. Take it from a former fatty, don't let this stop you like I let it stop me. Whenever I see a fat person at the gym I feel like giving them a huge sweaty hug and telling them that they rule and that they are a role model for all the other fatties complaining that its too hard. They are the stupid people who deserve to be laughed at.

You can't sign up for a mod position, nor can you ask moot. You have to sit around in their channel and suck moot's e-peen until everyone likes you enough. All mods on 4chan are honorary-- not because they can do the job.

This self-absorbed paranoid bullshit is ridiculous. Chill the fuck out. The world isn't out to get you. Matter of fact, no one gives a fuck about you. You are just another human being, like everyone else.

no one is gonna laugh at you
