Hey /fit/

For you advanced users:

I have been tempted to add creatine to my protein shakes...the thing is I'm not trying to be a "body builder" and the more I read about creatine, the more I don't like it.

First off, water retention. I don't want to be bloated to look big. Hell, I don't even want to look big. I want to be strong, and tone.

Second off, mass increases. I don't give a shit about mass increase, so much as I care about getting stronger.

Will creatine help me get stronger, or is this all just a marketing ploy based on the water retention thing. IE guys take it, look bigger, and then tell everyone how much bigger they got, placebo effect, etc.

Thanks in advance.

why lol? mass increse != strength increase. What do you think the difference between a body builder and a strongman is?

Anyways, why isn't creatine worth it? I've considered having a half scoop every morning as well.

creatine is a touchy topic...
its not as "safe and trusted" as powdered protein

it carries side effects such as shitting yourself when incorrectly taken and what not, along with the whole water retention shit and what not...

personally, i just stick to eating right, training hard, and whey protein

theres plenty of other ways to get more energy before hittin the gym, fuck creatine, you must hate yourself

Creatine does help to an extent, but having used it for quite a while I can tell you it isn't necessary, it won't do anything to the extent steroids would. Doesn't hurt, but almost not worth shelling the cash out for.

Capsules. Also, the water retention isn't as bad as you think it is. Your arms won't turn into water-filled tubes.

The "water retention" isn't what you think it is. It helps you lift longer, and I really believe it works.

I took it for two weeks and could do 14 pullups, I was off for the next week (pullups only happens once a week for me) and I dropped down to 9. Off the next week and I think I did 10. No other factor changed besides me taking creatine. But I still don't take it regularly and am still thinking if I want to spend the money.

Also I don't know what this shit about diarrhea, that's a new one to me and I never got it. I imagine I'm wasting mine because I don't take it regularly because I manage to forget. Probably going to stop it for this month then start a good cycle next month. If you're going to take creatine you have to take a serving (5g) everyday though, not just to your shakes on workout day. This is the biggest dedication, adding yet another daily routine, at least it was for me.

I've heard capsules are more expensive. I'd just get a flavored creatine or find a good drink to mix it in- like gatorade or something. My creatine is flavored, so I just add water and some glutamine.

Before you do, check to see if creatine is already included in your protein mix. The mix I take has 9 grams of a "super-recovery blend" per scoop. The blend includes creatine monohydrate, along with taurine, L-Glutamine, leucine, isoleucine and valine.

Pic is the protein mix I take.
