I've done quite a bit of searching, and hitting the bag like a retard seems to be the best.
Seriously though, what they seem to do is break it into rounds, like in boxing. You'll hit the bag for 3 minutes, then take a minute break, and do this 5 or 6 times. Each round, you can focus on either a single technique, or combinations, kicks, etc...
Unless you have a trainer, or specific martial techniques to work on, I'd say retard hitting it for high intensity intervals would be best.
