hi /fit/

I've had REALLY bad acne(cysts, loads of pimples) since I was 14 (20 now). My skin is pretty good now, but I have a whole lot of scarring especially on my face. I've had bad experiences with dermatologists in the past, and cleaned up most of my face with a ton of money spent on over the counter stuff. But I just saw a dermatologist a couple days ago for some prescription help to finish things off, and eventually scar treatment.

I've read online different things available to treat scars, and feel kinda like shit because there doesn't seem to really be anything that too reliable. Anyone else have this problem, or have had scars treated really well?

pic related, its me. inb4 bacon on pillow, an hero, squatz oatz etc.

You remind me a lot of myself OP. I've had everything you listed, but my dermatologist put me on doxycycline hyclate a year ago and my face cleared up a whole fucking lot.
My skin isn't perfect, as I still have some hardened eczema patches (going in to the doc next week to clear those fuckers) but I don't break out much anymore. My face looks kind of porous like yours in that I squeeze anywhere on my face something will come out, but I'm happy with it honestly. My confidence went through the roof just from having OKAY skin.
Oh and a tip: EAT HEALTHIER. I'm vehement about not eating junk food nowadays, but when I do my skin goes to hell. Also, keep your skin moisturized and never wash it with bar soap. Get some special skin wash.
Good luck, brother.

Dude I have the same issue...I use Vitamin E (liquid capsuls broken open and applied to the skin directly) as well as cocoa butter. Both have shown to reduce scaring. Also look into tanning beds. the UV will help shrink scars.

best of luck!

I forget the exact product name, but neosporin sells bandages for scar treatment. they were developed for hospitals and burn wards, but you can buy them at any drug store.

ok seriously though, op congrats on clearing up. I have a similar story to yours (i'm also 20 and cleared my acne) but i don't have scars. i'm still a greasy oily fuck, but for you i'm sure there are laser treatments that get rid of scars - if you can afford them.

i don't know if retin-a (prescription) and glycolic acid (from www.acne.org) would help with scars, but they made my red marks completely vanish. i guess you could research that too.

good luck, and congrats.

You guys can suck it, I'm 20 and I STILL have acne. I just stopped taking antibiotics about a month and a half ago, because I was on various ones for five years and they did next to nothing. I've tried vigorous exercise EVERY day of the week, three different diets, and every facial product known to man.

I mean, it COULD be worse, but fucking damn.

I was thinking about seeing an endocrinologist, any thoughts on that, anon?

I'm halfway through a treatment of 8 microdermabrasion sessions, which I was told was the best option without getting laser surgery and going home with a scab for a face for 6 weeks (and $5000 poorer). So far I think it's a snakecharmer cure. Makes every area apart from the scars look much better, but it's not actually reducing any of the scars, which I sort of expected, but thought I'd give it a go anyway. So looks like my only other medical option is getting the laser or chemical peels, which I don't think I'd bother with. Best thing I've done so far is just get a deep tan, hides the scars a lot and obscures the red marks.

Bet you haven't stuck to one dermatologist and treatment. They don't work if you don't go through with the whole regimen fgt
