What can I do with 5 lb weights and bodyweight? PetBot
So I don't have access to a gym or barbells or shiat like that.

All the things I'm reading about that /fit/ suggested (like Starting Strength and 5x5) require what I don't have.

What I DO have, however, are hand weights. I currently have two 5 lb weights and I can work up from there if need be.

Question: What can I do with these? Certainly not SQUATZ. I'm not looking to get bulky, jus wanna get ~toned~
>> Anonymous
LOL at toned.

Get your mind right before you do anything.

>5 lbs
>bulky

FUUUUUUUUCK OFFFFFFF.

Yes, I understand that "toned" = fat loss + muscle increase.

>>165459
Yes, I understand that 5 lb hand weights will not get me bulky. That is why I'd like to use them.

p.s. I'm a weakling and probably can't lift anything more than 5 lbs right now so whatever.

"toned" means nothing. "tone" is a knob on an electric guitar. it's a word used by people who don't understand anything about fitness.

and 2x lol at "bulky". you think that by lifting weights for a few months will turn you into a bodybuilder?

you're really clueless. but i will tell you this: you're too fat. looooooooooooose some fat and you'll be "toned". so forget about the massive muscles you'd get with those 5 lbs.

Slow down on the 'roids, mayn.

I looked over that page and it looks a little unrealistic for me at this point. But thanks, I'll try and work up to it.

i started with doing headstands. idk, it's easy imo if you can see yourself doing the form correctly in youre head, youre 99% guaranteed to do that shit on your first couple tries.

also, max out (as much as you can) on push ups / sit ups / jumping 3 times a day.

protip; if you have a recorder or camera, get footage of yourself doing it and review where you need to improve exactly. it halps.

Ok, thanks. "Toned" has officially been deleted from my vocabulary.

I'd imagine that even at the beginning stages, the weight training routine somebody would use would be different for someone with a bulky goal than for someone with a slimmer goal. So that's why I mentioned that I'm not looking to get bulky. Of course I know that a few weeks of lifting weights isn't going to make me bulky, it obviously takes much more than that.

Probably the most helpful reply so far.

Sit ups, push ups, and jumping. Check.

My lifts are pretty terrible, but I'm in the gym all the time lifting dumbells from 20-40 lbs depending on the exercise and I'm nowhere NEAR "bulky," like, you can barely see my muscles. You NEED to lift as heavy as you possibly can even for a " TONED " lean look, it'll be months, or years before you can even hope to start looking big.

Thanks for your reply.

I wanted to avoid this, but I feel like I should go ahead and point out - I'm a chick. So I'm really not aiming to get big.

What does /fit/ think of this:

Ignore the "8 minutes" part because I know that's going to get criticism.

You aren't going to get big. Not only is it difficult and time consuming (months, years) it's genetically impossible for you to naturally do it.

yes! all hail the mighty muscle building and fat burning capabilities of the headstand!

c'mon. is that the best you have? why not have the exercise of "opening and closing the refrigerator door"? how about "taking out the trash"? those burn more calories than doing a fucking headstand. and exactly how does doing a headstand lead into any other exercises on that site?

you're really an example that bad advice is worse than no advice.

To be quite honest, I'm mainly avoiding the gym because I'm afraid of the incredibly awkward experience of trying to lift a barbell for the first time. I probably couldn't even lift the bar by itself.

ANYWAY I'M A LITTLE FUCKING BITCH WHO USES HAND WEIGHTS AND I'M GOING TO BED

Oh God fucking damn it. Don't take steroids and don't eat 3000+ calories a day. Look at some crossfit girls. They can clean 150+ and are still feminine as shit.

50 lbs bag of sand from a hardware store.
Empty 1 gallon milk jugs. Each jug will hold between 0 to 9 pounds.
1 4ft broom stick.

Woah. Totally never thought of this.

Thanks, anon!

you can't do shit with that. you need heavyweights to develop good muscle. consider carefully the definition of heavy. find some bricks or cinder blocks if you are so cheap.
