Hey /fit/
I am planning on hitting the beach with my friends this year, and would really appreciate any advice on improving my body. As you can see, I don't have the well-toned one I would like to, but what are some good exercises to gain some muscle in the torso area and legs?

Also I'm 5''7 and 160 pounds. And female. Pic related, it's me.

Bit of cardio, some light ab work if you want any more definition than a line.

According to BMI, I'm overweight. And it's not like any of it could be muscle weight, because I don't exercise at all. :\

Well if you are "squidgy" aka skinny fat and want a more solid physique, then you can do some moderate cardio i.e. 30 mins a day and toning exercises to get a more solid and toned body. Change your diet also, tell us what you eat daily atm and we'll help you.

If you're single i wouldnt be worried about attracting guys, as i said before you look great as it is. If you're doing it for yourself, then by all means have at it.

You have a nice physique for toning. You don't want to lose weight though, you want to build muscle. Please remember that an Amy Whinehouse look is not good.

what do you have available to you? gym equipment?

Theres still a slight overhang on the side, and i mean slight. Dropping 6-8lb would take care of this while toning it up.

Um. Well, I eat pretty much everything, ranging from meat and vegetables to fish and the occasional candy, and usually 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). I've also heard that limiting drinks (as in, cola, fanta, pepsi etc) could help. Is that true?
I'm currently making an effort to improve myself mainly because I could use the confidence boost from having a nice body, but also for my health. I'd be lying if I said I don't care about the opposite gender at all, though...
Thanks to those who replied. :)

I'll put this in as few words as possible. HIIT, less than 1500 calories a day, clean food, cardio, situps.

Also, you already have a really great body, but I do understand that exercising and losing a few pounds wouldn't hurt.

if you're worried about attracting guys, don't be we would fuck you
if you're worried about what girls think, who the fuck cares
if you want to do something for yourself, do some squatz

1500 calories a day? That really doesn't help all that much. So theoretically, if I cut one meal, would that be healthier?
>> Anonymous
I don't see why.

You have a nice body.

Alittle weight isn't that bad and it looks good on you.

Personally I think you look nice as is but losing some weight might be good for your confidence so It could help.

Mmmm, I wouldn't "cut" meals. How about instead of having a couple big meals, you divide those meals into 5-6 small ones? Given that your meals are void of the amount of carbohydrates equal to 1 cup of rice and the added bonus of shit tons of veggies.

Eating more meals a day boosts your metabolism, cutting out a meal would be counter-productive.

Drink nothing but water, aim for a gallon a day.

Ok, I'll remember that. Thanks, that was more illuminating.

And to everyone else: what is perceived as "overweight" generally also depends on the physical condition and looks of other people around you, as their opinions and also mine are formed based on what they see.
It's not whether one is thin or not, it's whether they're thin enough to hold themselves as good looking as the others.

Your diet isnt helping you to put it bluntly.

Your diet needs to consist of alot of protein and vegetables, salad, fruit etc..

You need to limit your carbs and stop eating sugary foods & drinks. You do not need sugar as it is burned through in 30 mins and stored as fat.

Your diet should be like this:

60% protein - 20% carbs - 20% fat

Carbs that go unused will be stored as fat, therefore its why we say dont go overboard on them.

Drink water & green tea, it will boost your metabolism and flush out fat & toxins in your body.

Calore limit of 1200-1500 is fine imo.

Its easily achievable to drop around 8-10lb and tone up your body in under 2 months.

Well, thanks to all of you who offered advice.
I'm off to start my HIIT.

And losing clothes is out of the question, though I do accept the requests to do so as compliments.
I'd rather allow myself to believe that I still have some self-respect.

>>140047
I see. I'll try to keep my diet like that.

BMI doesn't include muscle weight.
If you had no muscle...you'd be in a lot of pain.
