I wanna pick up biking, so might get a mountainbike soon. So, when biking, will I burn more calories riding bumpy terrain like forests and such? At least it sounds more fun than riding on flat roads all the time.

Not really. If there's a lot of uphill maybe. Otherwise to burn as many calories you would need to go at the same speed which can be difficult because of safety concerns.

Whether it's worth it will depend on your available bike routes and preferences.

Amount of friction and amount of work per distance don't mean fuck all. Time and calories burnt are the important factors. If you want to mountain bike because it is less tedious than conventional biking or running or any other superior workout than fine. Some people do that, it's not a crime or anything.
