Hey /fit/ I'm sure you get these threads all the time here, but I'm new to this board so here it goes. Are any of you health fanatics or body experts (The words I was looking for left me) because I recently got a 3 year gym member ship, and they wanted 400$ for 4 personal fitness counseling, THe guy who tried to sell it to me told me they'd give me diet ideas what to work on and so forth, I figured I could just come here so Do any of you know quick ways to burn fat around the stomach and chest areas? I know do some crunches but are they're other ways?

Well, its simple really.

Start off by doing this NO MORE FAST FOOD!!! NO MORE BAD SUGAR!!! NO MORE BAD FATS!!!!

Eat healthy, cut all sugars (pops, fast food, candys). Try to eat 6 smaller meals a day. Balancing your protein/carb/good fats/oil intake.

I could go into a detailed diet, but, that should give you an outline.

Next learn to love cardio. Start off slow, 30 minutes of a fast walk for a week. Then 30 minutes of jogging another week. After these first two weeks, you'll probley have lost 2-5 pounds (if you kept your diet good) and will notice quite a bit more endurance (less tired after your 30 minutes of cardio).

Then start upping your cardio, 45 minutes, then an hour, then an hour and a half. Max yourself at 2 hours of cardio. You should have the results you want long before then.

But, a side effect of this, is you will get noticeabley smaller. Your muscles will become more defined, but overall, your build/body will become smaller. Just a warning if you start to wonder why the hell you look so skinny.

I used to have a similar body. Here's what I did:
Cut out all fast food
Ate a shit ton of raw veggies/fruit instead of processed foods, fried foods, greasy foods, or otherwise unhealthy foods.
Went for a few months eating at most 2 meals a day.

After this, I dropped about 30 pounds. I lost a LOT of muscle, but thinned down substantially. All my friends were shocked.

Now, I'm working out to rebuild muscle and tone.

Basically, you can't target certain areas. You have to do things holistically, and gradually you'll see results.

Well you do, if your goal is specifically to just burn fat, then yes.

I told him 2 hours TOPS. If he was going to be putting on lean muscle, instead of just wanting to cut fat, i would tell him 1 hour to an 1hour and 15 minutes tops.

But i think for the goal, of just cutting fat, nothing else, 2 hours of cardio is good, once hes started into a cardio routine. Once he hits his goal of weight loss, naturally he won't keep that ammount up. But to hit his goal, 2 hours is good.

*not the initial naysayer on 2hours cardio, but*

mainly because for purposes of a healthier lifestyle/ regulating BPM it would be more beneficial to split the 2 hours work out into two 50 minute sessions with a 20 minute rest/cooldown in between. With this setup, you can increase intensity and keep the same, if not better efficiency of burn. (at least so the theory goes)

Thats true, a break up might help thouse things, but its also been shown that stopping in your cardio like that will stop the body, and moving agian can injure/shock your body. I personally believe all cardio at one time, with only short drink stops/breath stops.

But still, its not a reason as to why 2 hours of cardio is crazy.

I need a reason like "2 hours of cardio has been proven to make you shit yourself"

I know people who have done more, i know a guy did a 4 hour run. Not a jog, but a run. He wanted to see his max cardio. Naturally he got sick and puked. But thats twice the ammount i recomend.

Max fat loss is achieved by hardass work. And thats exactly what 2 hours of cardio will do.

2 hours of cardio hmm whats wrong with that its just plain overkill and not necessary(you will just burn off your muscle and end up all flabby looking even though you are skinnier).....lift weights 3-4 days a week and do 20-30 minutes of hiit cardio of some sort immediately following your workouts....fuck slow jogging i did that shit i was into it...it just doesn't work.....well it works but not like you want....jog slow....then run as fast as you can...then jog.....then run as fast as you can....then jog...then run as fast as you can...done....HIIT cardio right there you will lose pure bodyfat basically its amazing really.....so as a fatty its your first step what do you do....looking back if i was fat again i would do things differently actually

Unless a person has jogged for a good season, has developed stable enough joints, has developed a strong enough cardiovascular system... HIIT will do more harm then good.

It's laughable how people suggest doing HIIT to fatties or to people starting out to train. HIIT is for people who are already advanced runners, not your novice.

my first step would be since i am overweight i will go on a high protein medium fat low carb diet....lots of tuna and 8oz chicken portions...a lot of fiber (assuming you know how to lift weights properly you eat protein shake before and then jog/lift light weights quickly/situps/ex bike/pushups/mix HIIT and then eat another protein shake but this time with some carbs(this is your time to eat carbs) and then a good 50gram protein+10gram fiber low carb meal about an hour and a half after that(this is how you will eat all the time unless you are going to lift then no fiber this is the only time i don't eat fiber) you will lose fat and gain/keep the same muscle which is perfect because gaining fat automatically makes you gain muscle so even if you gain no muscle you should be happy because you will lose fat but i bet you'll gain a little muscle slowly anyways...then when you are to a relative desired bf%.....start eating like a crazy man for 2 weeks like you used to when you were a fat kid just eat and workout heavy and hard still just keep up the workout routine and the fiber and the protein the same i mean keep eating healthy but eat a crapload of healthy food and a few more cheat meals than normal.....then go back to a week or two of the not eating like crazy...you should always eat well on the weekends at least once as well like have everything you want and don't give a shit about it on saturday night get drunk eat a pizza drink soda fuck it you still only live once......oh i highly recommend a 6-9 grams of fish oil everyday...eat it like 3 at a time through out the day...good luck

I'm against the jogging for two hours suggestion as well. And you said HIIT. That means sprinting. You don't give a half-assed effort with HIIT. During the high intensity portion you're supposed to go balls to the fucking wall. So yes, it does matter how fast he goes. That's the whole idea behind what you suggested.

Yeah fucking right. So, get a calculator and calculate the force a 230 pound male would create sprinting at max speed. You'll be surprised at the numbers.

What I'd suggest? I'd suggest picking up the speed, but by no means would I suggest to go do HIIT for ANYONE who weighs >200 pounds unless they are a pro athlete.

2 hours on a stationary bike sounds like torture. Spin class or go outside.
