Skin Help Anonymous
/fit/, I need some help in dealing with some skin problems.

I've never had problems with acne on my face after highschool and puberty. I have one pop up from time to time, but nothing major. What bugs me though, is the fact that I've always had acne and red bumps on my back and sides for as long as I can remember. I went to a dermatologist who advised me "follicleitis and genetics lol". As much as I'd like to be satisfied with his expert advice, I was hoping I could get some input from you about how to deal with them, especially since I seem to be getting more and more of them on my front now.
I bathe in the morning and before I go to bed every day, and have started using an anti-acne body wash from nutrogena. What else should I be doing to try to get rid of the blemishes on my side and to prevent further outbreaks of the bumps and acne on my body?

two tbsp of apple cider vinegar a day should help. the organic kind. and some sun.

works for me.

The only thing that worked for me was acutane, and I had to do that twice. My face was a wreck though. It's possible two showers a day and acne wash are making your skin dry and irritated, this can lead to breakouts. If you wear tight shirts this can irritate your skin also.

My best non-drug related advice is to stop drinking milk and wash your sheets.

I agree, but I dont want to spend another couple of hundred dollars to visit someone else just to tell me I'm screwed.

for some reason the apple cider vinegar worked for me too.
dunno why.
just make sure to strain out the mother of vinegar (the floaty stuff in the bottle) and don't take it on an empty stomach.
sunlight is also good.
use a gentle clenser, not "EXTRA STRGENTHOMGBBQ"

***TO ALL ACNE SUFFERERS***
I used to have insanely bad acne, just as bad if not worse as yours, i went on Roaccutane (i'm from australia, not sure what they call it in america, probably same thing) but it got rid of 90% of it and changed my life HEAPS. Roaccutane is more suited to cistular and back acne although it cleared my face aswell. its a 6 month course and can be costly if ya dont have health care but fuckin well worth it. go see your GP and he'll refer you to a skin specialist who will prescribe you it.

tips: general skin care (stuff you can buy off the shelf) crap is terrible, i swear it makes acne worse to make you buy more, making you think it'd be worse if you didnt use it. otherwise i recommend drinking crap loads of water and healthy washing with a face washer before and after bed and swimming at the beach. dont pick the acne, it causes spreading and inflamation and stress can cause heaps of acne too, meditate or some shit.

also when i say washing your face with a face washer i mean with one of them small square towel like cloths. wet with cold water, hot/warm water will open your pores and allow oils to seep in.

one of my neighbors was on it and shot himself in the face

I did accutane and I'm very happy with the results. I had to do two 6 months treatments since it came back once after a bad sunburn though. The only thing that sucks is it can dry the shit out of your skin. My second course I couldn't take showers everyday or I'd start to get eczema, even while using prescribed lotion. Sometimes I couldn't even use soap while taking one of the few showers I could. It was a huge pain, but completely worth it.

It's not acne you fucking morons, it's an incurable chronic skin disorder that will never go away. Find out which parent gave it to you because its genetic. Then learn to deal with it.
