Hey /fit/ has anyone used a bowflex? What did you think? Does it work well? Is it worth the money?

Also, traditional bowflex vs. the revolution?

dunno about the revolution, but the traditional bowflex won't cut it if you're a heavy lifter. And by heavy lifter, I mean if you can bench 135. Because if you can, the bowflex won't go as heavy as you need it too for complex lifts (bench, etc). Not to mention it wont even work for legs. instead, get a set of power blocks and a bench. powerblock.com

bump. /fit/ moves faster than I thought

Actually, it's not for heavy lifting, but just to get into shape. I can't run due to joint issues, so I was looking for something low impact to burn fat.

this is relevant to my own interests

I dunno about it being too easy if you can bench 135...I've noticed benching any given amount on a bowflex is a lot tougher than actually benching it....doesn't seem to be as effective either

You're lazy/stupid as fuck if you chose one over a power rack and an Olympic weight set

hmmm that seems to be the exact opposite of what i've experienced. my friends who are 1/2 my size also seem to be able to bench a considerable amount more than what they would using a bar.

elliptical maybe?

looks like an option, but I'd like to be able to build muscle as well, and an elliptical wouldn't help a whole lot there.

then once again i go back to my recommendation for powerblocks and a bench

Machines are crap, buy a good squat rack for like 1000 bucks.
