Extreme Fitness gyms are a scam Anonymous
hey /fit/ just want to let Toronto-area fags know about the scam Extreme Fitness gyms has been running.

Every couple of months they advertise a "no annual contract" deal for $8 or $15 or $30/month (the number changes for no apparent reason). What they promise is two months at that price if you agree to pay for a third month at the regular rate (which they don't advertise and won't put in print until you're talking face to face and there's a contract on the table).

That's a lie.

What the *contract* says is you'll pay for those first two months, that third month is the *last* month, and you agree to pay for NINE MORE MONTHS AT FULL PRICE. (2 months plus 1 month plus 9 months is 12 months, or one year.)

No "no contract" or "no annual contract" is obviously wrong when they have you agreeing to pay for 12 months and give you no way out. But at no point will they come out and say this.

Extreme Fitness has pissed off a lot of people - http://www.blogto.com/fitness/extreme - http://www.blogto.com/sports_play/2008/05/extreme_fitness_extreme_ripoff/ - so don't fall for it. There are cheaper gyms with the same equipment that will trap you in a contract but at least won't lie about it.

That's all.
