ITT: what you miss most about your old, unhealthy lifestyle

If you've recently (or unrecently) started trying to live better/lose weight/SQUATZ etc., post what it is you look back on fondly and despair

I really wish I could just toss back several frosty beers on happy evenings, alas :<

Same, though when its put in perspective i'd rather lose weight than drink myself stupid again.

I miss kebabs and doner. :(

I miss coca cola, and beer.

beer and cheese and bread. overloading on consumption is a big comfort thing for me.

ultimately though, i still knock back a few vodkas here and there and have my fun, and eating healthy can be fucking delicious. the other day i had like 4 0z of salmon with plain boiled brown rice, a mixed bean salad and baked green beans and it was SEX.

which brings me to my next point which is that while laziness and overeating are fun and feel comforting, i definetely prefer the increase in vaginal availability. i had no idea women could be so addicted to the cock. i had one coming in while the last one was still in the driveway last week, and she went ahead and got over it and stayed. unbelievable. i thought i was going to get my nuts kicked.

Taking enough opiates and benzos to kill the average celebrity and then drooling on myself while passed out in a lawn chair in front of my house for the late morning and afternoon. Went from fucked up to /fit/. Sober for 2 and a half years lifting/running for one.

You ever suck a dick for some marijuana! JK Nice work man.

I take opiates and benzos and still lift.

I use them in place of socializing.

Late night eating, or eating whatever I wanted to.

Not worrying about calories.

Not knowing how many calories I should eat.

Not know how many calories were in a given food.

Soda, chips, junk food, mindless snacking.

Truth. I smoke at least once a week, often times more and I'm still running 3-5 miles a day.

i smoke weed because I can't drink (probably a good thing). im on prednisone and it will overload my liver. It also keeps me calm when im experiencing irrational prednisone induced thoughts.
>> Anonymous
i fucking miss soda. and pizza.
>>138712
dude you don't need to stop smoking weed. i smoke everyday and am fuckin ripped. i just don't let myself indulge on munchies but once a week. i keep my dv of fats at roughly 60% a day and have no problem keeping fit with a few lite beer and hard liquor when i drink. also fatty stuff isn't that bad as long as it's early enough in the day to be digested properly. also i miss looking at food without thinking about its fat content.

why is it about giving up anything? it should be about learning moderation. why give up weed? it's not keeping you from achieving a healthy body, you're keeping yourself from achieving that. you're just using the weed as an excuse.

i still drink, just not to the point where i wake up in a puddle of my own vomit (hopefully it's my own) and a strange girl in my bed an completely missing the last 12 hours of my life. if i feel like having some pizza, sure, take a slice or two. just don't eat the whole goddamn thing.

a stash of ben and jerry's in the freezer? no problem. just remember that there's a reaction to everything. deciding to wolf half the pint of "fossil fuel" means a week of kicking my own ass with hiit, i can make a decision whether it's worth it.

the best thing about going from a fattie to being in reasonable shape is leaning the to harness the willpower associated with making the change. don't give things up to torture yourself. give them up because you no longer need them. other things you want to keep, do it. just remember that moderation and controlling yourself has rewards
>> Anonymous
>>139270

FUCK. YES. I find that by moderately partaking in whatever vices I enjoy assists my fitness to a much higher degree than when I had a "all or nothing" attitude.

Im from new orleans so the thing that i miss the most is fried oysters and boiled crawfish on regular occasions when they are in season. I just eat those on odd occasions now like at parties or crawfish boils instead of about once a week like i used to. I also miss eating red beans and rice alot too.

this is why I've always been /fit/; I never saw it as an all or nothing thing. So a slice of cake isn't some sort of "reward" or "cheat", it's a piece of fucking [delicious] /cake/.
>> Anonymous
>>139290
EXACTLY my point. using rewards is a great behavior modification tool. in this case, rewards can be a friday night with a few beers. or an occasional slice of cake. or delaying a workout a day or so to spend time with family/friends/boink-mate.

don't get all bent about an occasional cheat/reward. moderation in all things, including exercise*.

but daily rewards and cheats, nope. can't have. learn the discipline and control and then the rest becomes pretty easy.

*i >facepalm< everytime i see some one come in with an "i need to lose 50 lbs in 2 months. /fit/ tell me how". while it's possible to do this, actually doing so is so far beyond even and extreme level of commitment, you just know how badly it will turn out.

likewise, people whose lives already revolve around working out every day, it's just a little too much. take a day off. relax. miss a workout occasionally. i promise, the gym will be there the next day.

Pulling all-nighters playing MMORPGs and going to work the next day all shitfaced-like.

It was something that I really thought I enjoyed doing until last time I tried it around five months ago. I had already lost 12 lbs back then and was surprised that I just can't be bothered to grind/deal with obese 14-year-olds anymore. I literally cannot go on for 5 minutes without asking myself what the whole fucking point of it was.

I still get urges sometimes, especially when I remember all the awesome times I had doing parties and stuff but really, I prefer doing my tedious treadmilling crap on a real treadmill nowadays.

Doughnuts. I used to eat those tasty fuckers like they were going out of style.

Nothing, if I felt regret then I wouldn't deserve this ascension.

This is forever, I'll do whatever it takes - and it has become my art of life.

We are brothers. I mean, yeah, I know what you mean. Thinking of getting into warhammer: online though except not sure if I can fit that in with my current lifestyle of gym, work, and school.

I miss eating meat. Alot of meat. Went to a Brazilian bbq the other day and only had a slice of top sirloin when I usually would get one of each kind of meat. and then gulp it down with straight vodka. good times.

I miss waking up and not having my body be sore from working out.

A good morning stretch fixes that now though.
>> Anonymous
I hate that I don't like sweet stuff anymore. I tried this oaty cluster breakfast shit that used to be my favorite cereal today, I almost threw up, it was so fucking sweet but I remember I could NOMNOMNOM through six bowls of those motherfuckers in one morning. Goddamn I miss sweet stuff.

Everything in moderation, gents. I bust my ass to keep in shape, but would never compromise other joys in my life for it. My friends invite me out for a drink, I just find a workaround. 'Work hard, play harder', right?
>> Anonymous
>>139979

Personally man, I like feeling sore as shit the next day. Makes me feel like i've had a great workout, or I have had a really good game of rugby the previous night.

Hmm... I miss MMORPG diet, and just being ignorant when it came to diets. When I drink I still drink up hard, but I stay with straight spirits, because its probably the more healhier alternative then beer or pre mixers.

>>139972
I don't want to encourage any MMORPG playing (I know I was a fat loser when I played them), but one of the trainers at my old gym was an out of work actor. As far as I know, if he wasn't at the gym, he was home playing FFXI.

He was in pretty awesome shape.

not much. I've taken up drinking tea, found out that it has a flavour, and now chocolate and shit feels taste-killingly strong.
