Lemme ask /fit/ this:

I eat healthily, I exercise, and I can't lose weight.

I follow a carefully regimented diet. Nothing fad-ish. Even if I have to go off the diet (it's so regimented that traveling is difficult), I watch what I eat.

I eat no sweets. Little salt. No soda. Nothing fried.

I bike/run/elliptical for at least 30 minutes a day, in the morning. Working on building to an hour.

I lift Mon-Sat.

And yet, I can't understand how I'm 280. I'm 6', so I need to lose at least 80 pounds.

I've been good about maintaining my exercise and food, but it's difficult when I see my friends eat a double burger, fries, and a case of beer for virtually every meal and yet they remain 150.

You know that muscle weighs more than fat right?
When you work out you'll lose fat, but build up muscle.
This can lead to a point where you don't lose overall weight.
It'd be a good idea to measure your body-fat.

Do the math, if your 500 calories short in a day, it will take you about a week to lose a pound of fat/muscle. It will take you about 80 weeks to reach your target rate.

Also, if your exercise isn't long enough you won't actually burn any fat DURING the work, you'll only use up sugar already available in the blood. If you then take in calories after your workout you basically level out.

How many calories are you getting? Odds are you should probably be looking at something like 2000 a day + exercise to lose weight. A fit person will always consume more calories than an unfit person without gaining weight. Bodybuilders may have to eat 5000 calories a day just to break even. If you have 90lbs of fat on you, you need to be taking in calories as if you weighed 190lbs - that fat isn't burning calories for you like muscle does.

Dont work building onto a hour.
do the hour to make sure your body has to break down the fat insted of just using blood sugar like anon said above me.

Yea, I know muscle weights more than fat. But I don't believe I've gained all that much muscle.

I can tell I haven't lost by arbitrary measurements, such as how tight my watch is or my pants.
