Ok /fit/ I've officially decided to be less of a fatass. I'm trying to eat right, trying to cut out soda, and eat less processed foods, and what I was wondering is how effective exercising on a bike would be. This would be pretty much my sole avenue of exercise. Do I really need to go to the gym during these first few ___ of weight loss, will it accelerate it even faster? Tell me if I'm being a fucktwat, I'm sort of new to this. Right now 6'0 220.
Pic is bike I have.

Anyone :(

a bike is excellent cardio and of course great for your legs, the problem is that if you want to ride well, it depends heavily on muscles that have to be developed in other ways - back, abs, lats, etc. If you just tool around it's not bad for general weight loss

It's not like I'd like to become competitive at all, just lose weight. If this would be a good way to do it, can anyone suggest any routines that I should minimally do? I don't really have any way of counting calories burned or anything. I just ride for an hour every night. I also forgot to mention that one of the reasons I don't go to a gym is because of my weird hours. I have a membership that I've been fortunate enough to receive, but they close at 11.

how old are you and how much weight do you want to lose? Also has it been a long time since you've done biking or running or swimming? If so, you should get a doctors OK that you can do it safely

19. I'd like to just get down to a healthy weight. Maybe 180, 190. Just small weight for now, I dont want to set a goal that is too lofty. I used to be on the swim team for 9 years, but I've always been fat. I bike around, and don't really have any problems with it. The doctor wants me to lose weight as well.

Bike around like a madcunt, keep your calories under 2000 a day, stop drinking sugary drinks and juice and milk, and that weight will lose itself.

Fuck gyms.

Good shit. What I thought. So, pretty much just be on that bike as much as possible? More I do it, more I lose I guess.

Yup, If ya goin somewhere, you're on the bike.

Also, Once every few weeks, do a more intense bike ride, Ride up a mountain, Go further than usual, Go faster than usual ect.

Forget about a weightloss target, cos if you set one, you may stop trying when you reach it, and put weight back on.

Make sure you get your protien too, BARE MINIMUM 1gram per pound of body weight, But keeping your calories low (No higher than 2500, average 2000).

For real? I should be eating 220g of protien? Maybe that just seems like a lot to me. So pretty much bare protien and veggies diet? No more shit. And the no actual weight goal seems fair, I'm not so interested in a specified weight, as overall health.

mmmk, lemme rephrase one part.

FOR NOW, shoot for a gram per kilo. (80-100 grams) Thats enough to lose fat, without your body going all Auschwitz on your muscles.

After a while, Amp up the protien, (1 gram per pound) And start moving some iron around. But thats for later.

Some good protein sources: Chicken, Tuna, Beans, tofu, Lean red meat.

Also, Try diet soft drinks. People bitch about cancer and soforth, but thats all bullshit, and its easier than going cold turkey.

>>Also, Try diet soft drinks.

I would like to recommend to switching to something like Arizona Green Tea. It's sweet, only a few bucks per gallon, and has A LOT less shit in it than soda.

Green tea is win.

You can just buy a bunch of green teabags too. Just No sugar or milk! It has to stay black... or green i guess..

When would you recommend starting to phase into the higher protein diet?
Yeah, that's pretty much all I've been drinking. I don't really care so much about any of that stuff. I figure why scare the shit out of yourself based on cancer, when pretty much everything in a modern society will have the potential to give us cancer. Why fearmonger?

Yeah, Tea is the shit. I drink a lot of Arizona Iced Tea. Stuff's really good.

if you're going to do it, do it right. go the gym if you have the chance. you'll get much more impressive results if you throw in some weight training. muscle gains will keep your propensity to gain fat down too as i imagine that's an inherent problem with you

stay off diet soft drinks too. they still contain sodium which retains water.

Ah, alright, I'll go to the gym as much as possible. I have a few gaps in my schedule when the gym is open. I'll try to work that in there. Also, I've just been trying to drink a lot more water, and minimizing soda intake. When I do drink soda though, it's diet. Not like I go out of my way to drink soda though.

you don't sound that keen on the gym though so don't force yourself. it was an idea and it's good to keep your options open. you WILL get more results though and once you're through the initial phase, you'll like it and be glad you did. you also learn ALOT from the people there believe me

you might want to think about fruit teas too.
