Ok so here's the deal.

Like 3 years ago I was up to a solid 320 (even bigger than in the photo).

Long story short, I busted ASS and got down to about 168 (I'm 5'5)...so I was skinnier than I'd been since like elementary school.

At that point, I was having a protein shake for breakfast, and one for lunch. No dinner, plus my job had me walking ALL day long and when I would get off I would go to the gym and do this crazy cardio/lifting routing.

Ok so that was WAY too much to keep up. I wasn't feeling healthy...the lack of vitamins and nutrients were killing me...my teeth we weak as hell (etc, etc.) but I was skinny.

So this is me at close to 168...I think this was like 175ish.

good job anon

what are you trying to say though?

Ok...so I basically got tired of running all the time and essentially not eating at all.

So I decided to take Sarm-X, which is like...a semi-steriod. So I started lifing heavier and upping my protein content and got up to like a solid 180-185ish. And this was nice because I could actually eat and stuff and still managed to stay in some shape. I was getting really strong, pretty fast and wasn't a fat, fatty anymore.

So here we are...three years later. In the MEAN time, I've gotten married, got a hardcore job with lots of pressure, got a house, new truck...etc. etc. and in all of that mix, the whole..health and fitness thing got kind of thrown aside.

WELL FUCK. So now I'm at like 220...I look funny because you can tell it's like..fat sitting on muscle.

I've just started to diet again but I'm hardly losing ANYTHING.

So I'm wondering...is it just going to take a little bit longer this time to get back down? Should I get back on my old hydroxycut/Sarm-X/Protein Shake regimen?

I don't know where to re-start I guess is what I'm saying.

:-( I have a baby coming this christmas (that's the due date) and I don't want him/her to ever have a fat dad.

Sorry, I spread it out over a couple posts because I didn't feel like editing one big past/present picutre. Plus it's a lot to read.

sir you inspired me. i look like you now and have been entertaining the thought of losing it but never thought i'd be able to get it down to much. looking at your before and after photos, i finally have the confidence that i can do what you do. do you have any tips? what sort of protein shake? is there anything i can buy like steroids? thank you sir, you are my hero.

just because you had a success in the past doesn't mean you get to do it differently than the rest of us. do the basic cardio + weights + good diet

depending how old you are now, it just might be that your metabolism rate is slower than when you were actively pusuing a fit life, but that's just life...3 yrs is a long time for a body to change, I won't be surprised if your muscle mass has turned into fat. don't be hasty, you know the process and just do it. I also wouldn't suggest fat burner crap, just whey should be good enough and some caffein before workout if you need a boost.

My reply is split into a couple posts because i guess it's too long or something. So here goes:

Ok well...assuming that isn't sarcasm.

Here are my tips for being one of those super fit guys with a lot of energy and good skin (haha):

1. Start out easy. Don't try to go full blast at first and cut out everything you enjoy eating. You'll just burn out and stop two weeks in. Here's what I mean:

If you like burgers and fries and are as big as me...then you probably get the double cheese and bacon burger with the buggest fries they have and a gallon coke.

well...instead of going immediately to a chicken salad...just do to the single burger with cheese and back and a regular size fries.

Then work your way to just a burger with no cheese and bacon and the small fries.

Then work your way to a burger with mustard instead of mayo, small fries and a water instead of soda.

Then down to a chicken sandwhich on a wheat bun with mustard lots of good veggies, no fries and water.

If start at double with cheese and go immediately down to chicken...you'll hate it.

2. Cut calories where you can. Weight loss is essentially a numbers game...you need to intake less calories and burn more on a day to day basis.

Here's some examples:

So you dig fast food. Me too. Well...try getting rid of the soda. That's like 300 calories and sugar/high fructose corn syrup and carbonation your body doesn't need. Take off the bacon...all of those little choices add up to big results eventually.

nobody gives a shit faggot, stop coming to /fit/ thinking you are the first to post a fucking "LIFE STORY"

FOR FUCK'S SAKE

3. Eat what you like (at least at first) ...but EAT LESS OF WHAT YOU LIKE.

Have pizza!...but try to stick to one slice instead of 4. Or try the thin crust instead of the super deep dish.

4. Known WHEN to eat.

Have carbs. But do it in the morning and make sure they're GOOD carbs. Have a piece of wheat toast of a big bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Your body NEEDS carbs for energy. Just make sure and try to have less and less carbs with each meal as the day progresses

So you have toast and oatmeal and eggs for breakfast...that's fine. That's great even. But just make sure that for your midday snacks and lunch, that you have LESS carbs. and for dinner? THAT'S when you need to have the chicken salad with water. NOT the super cajun chicken and biscuits pasta from wherever.

5. Eat a lot...but never too much. Have a snack every 2-3 hours. It'll boost your metabolism to eat little snacks all day long. Just make sure they're all healthy, and make sure that you ALWAYS have a protein with your carbs. Don't just have a piece of toast...have a piece of toast with an egg, or a piece of wheat bread with some turkey for lunch.

6. Try and cut out a lot of unnecessary dietary fat. When I was in my "I'M A SUPER HEALTHY DIETER" mode, I would avoid stuff like cheese and a lot of dairy products, because although they do have a lot of protein, they have a lot of fat. and your body only needs SO much of the good fat that you get from stuff like nuts and avacados to stay healthy.

7. Known when and how to ecercise.
Ok...so it sucks. At some point (probably the point I'm at now) there's a time when just diet alone absolutely won't cut it.
Your first couple of months...sure. You might lose 30lbs just with diet alone. But you need to start BURNING that fuel you're putting in your body AND that fat.
How to exercise is just going to depend on you.
Here's what worked for ME (not necessarily your or anyone else):
Before breakfast I would do SOME kind of cardio. Started with 10-20 minutes of walking. Then when my body got used to that, it went to 10-20 minutes on the eliptical. Then eventually it kind of capped out at 30 minutes of running.
But you might find that you like riding a bike more...or doing a stair stepper (which has virtually no impact on your knees...so if you're a big person, you might try this). It just depends.
Then I would have breakfast...which for me ended up usually being oatmeal (a slow burning carb that gives you energy for a while instead of giving you LOTS of energy then crashing you like a lot of sugars do).

Then I would workout with strength training in the evening.

My roomate/personal trainer HATED cardio. So we focused on build muscle...because the more muscle you have, the calories your body will burn on a daily basis.

That combination of cardio AND strength exercises worked for me.

8. Realise that it's not something your ever going to get to stop.

This is where I am...and why I'm feeling so down and an in the "fat guy" range again.

I was so used to losing weight and being healthy...that I let it go piece by piece.

First, I let my diet slip. I added in stuff like cheese...or the piece of pizza from time to time. That stuff just ISN'T healthy. No matter how hard your exercise, a bacon burger is still bad for you.

Then I let the exercise slip. There's no excuse for this on my part...I just so busy with life that somewhere along the way, I made a choice to go to work stuff instead of the gym. Or go home an hour early instead of working out and THEN going home.

It's a LIFE change. You're either 1. Healthy or 2. You're not. You just need to make the decision to BE healthy.

One fun thing I noticed is that when I WAS super diet and exercise focused...the people around me got a lot healthier too. My mom was losing weight...my wife was eating better. It's a chain effect and it's something that has influence over others.

I just lost the battle for a bit...not the war. I let EVERYONE else around me influence me to stop going to the gym and stop living the lifestyle that I know I deserve.

So I guess I just answered my own posts. I just to sack up and get back to it and work my way towards being the guy at the gym that's sweating the most and working the hardest.

...damnit. :-)

I think you're still a weak willed fag.

Not hard to lose weight. You still have a shitty diet.

I think I pretty much did that.

Also...I think I found the answer to what I should do now in another thread.

>>crawl around on your hands and feet like a a feral human for hours at a time, devouring all the grasshoppers you come across. Oh, and start eating more fruit.
