I hear a lot of people talking about SQUATZ, DEADLIFTZ and BENCHZ but what about CLEANZ? Are they a compound lift? I'm pretty sure they work several muscle groups.

What other lifts would you recommend I start doing?

this is the workout i'm currently on. it's pretty good. incorporates oly lifts and doesn't afraid of anything. if you can find a coach even better.

i wouldn't do it until you got a good base though from starting strength or the bill starr routine.

It's not that I don't love snatch, I just that I don't mind jerking from time to time.

The position the bar ends up is fucking retarded, who ever thought that it was a great idea to let 200+ lbs rest on your hands when your wrists are bent back-wards is a fucking idiot.

Nothing I said is incorrect, its a fucking horrible position.

I do front squats but I cross my arms, "OH BENDING MY HANDS BACKWARDS TO LET THE BAR REST ON THEM IS A GREAT IDEA"

the best thing to do is find someone doing power cleans and then squat them while they do power cleans.

you dumb son of a bitch. THE BAR DOESN'T REST ON YOUR FUCKING HANDS! IT RESTS ON YOUR GODDAMN SHOULDERS!.

The bar, like I said before rests on your hands which are used to stabilize it.

Your shoulders are of course used to hold it up, but your hands/wrists are still put in a position which neither natural, normal or beneficial.

has absolutely no idea what he is talking about.

and so i dont have to bother with clarifying. the human wrist, in total extension (as you claim) cannot support over 500lbs, which is what Oly lifters clean. so by extension (nyuk nyuK) the bar is NOT supported by the wrists.

and if you front squat correctly (here's how i teach it to noobs). you dont even need your hands at all. just stick you arms straight out in front of you like a 'zombie' and the bar will perfectly rest in the rack position. of course, adding the hands back in adds stability and control. but thats all.

Well, it looks like you know absolutely nothing about oly lifts. Lets break it down.

The position you see the man in OP's pic would be the receiving position as soon as he stands straight. Why is it called the receiving position? Because he is receiving the bar and readying for the "jerk" or press part of the lift if he were to continue with a clean and jerk instead of just a clean. In order to jerk the bar upwards, the hands have to be in position. The grip is shifted so that the bar comes off of the shoulders and into the palms of the hands as the bar is pressed upwards.

Front squats were designed to strengthen the body's form in the receiving position. They can be done with crossed arms, but this defeats the purpose for which they are originally intended.

The bar does not rest in the hands when in the receiving position. In fact, your hands do not even have to be in that position. You can hold them straight out in front of you as long as the bar is resting on the shoulders. Your hands are there only for position's sake.

Now, do you understand?

Watch the motion, your wrists DO end up in that posistion, the bar DOES put pressure on them and they are being used to stabalize the bar.
