Help! AFhopeful
(Picture unrelated... but funny)

My family normally has a stocky build, and I'm a prime definition of it. But over the past two years I've been working to change that image. The year before last I started doing cardio for half an hour five days a week and rested on the weekends, and continued my regular daily routine.

This year however I've also been lifting weights, and doing two days less cardio. I've seen much better improvement, increasing muscle mass and burning fat faster than my mother on her no yeast, no sugars and starches, close to the farm as possible diet.

The problem is I hope to join the Air force after my graduation this year. I currently way 225, and for my height to be accepted my maximum weight is 190lbs. Problem is, I don't think I have 35lbs of fat left to burn off... It's all been replaced by muscle. I feel great, but I'm determined to get into the AF. Any help? Should I stop the weightlifting and stick to cardio and join my mother on her diet?

I wasn't aware military branches had strict weight specifications. I thought they'd accept anyone who wasn't sick..

For me, the Army used the BMI for an indicator. If you were too heavy for your weight, they then measured your neck. As long as it was nice and thick, you were in the clear.

SCIENCE!

lol Military. I was in MCJROTC for a couple years in highschool, and we had some seriously overweight and unhealthy people in our class. They were still encouraged to join the Marines (god help them if they do...)

Well yeah, for my height of 5'10" I have to be under 190 pounds. Not good news for me. Better get started. The only problem is running, or any quick movements with shock on my legs cause my calves to lock up. They get very very taught and no amount of stretching can loosen them out without causing me considerable pain.

stretch daily AFTER you exercise until they stop hurting you

Should really add 10 min of stretching to the beginning and most importantly to the end of your workouts.

Fucking rot-cee punk. The rest of us hated you faggots in BCT. "Oh, look at me, I can march properly!" Limp-wristed is more like it. :)

OP, I can tell you right now though that the military thought it was in its best interests to work with what they had, rather than wish for what they didn't. Unless a person was an unmotivated pile of shit who wanted to escape basic training, they passed the PT tests. The drill sergeants made sure of it.

And this was in 1998. I'd be surprised if any branch of the service gave two shits about the height/weight ratio right now unless you're an unmitigated hambeast. Again, I'm not kidding about the neck thing either.

Well it's what the recruiter told me anyway, but since when have they told the whole truth? And I'm not a ROTC punk, I never took the AFJROTC class in school. Everyone makes fun of the blueberries at school, lol.

I plan on going through a year or two as an enlisted man, so I actually have a bit of experience being low on the food chain before going through ROTC.

First day on the diet. Mom made this weird grain called Amaranth from South America... anyone know a good recipie? Just boiling it in water didn't taste that great.

If they really want to get through boot camp they will. The only thing is: they may have to wear sweats with the big red lines on them that points them out as overweight (I don't know if they still do this but, I imagine they still do).

I'm a lolfattie joining up this August. My recruiter said I could make it in either by conforming to the height/weight chart or by conforming to a standard formula involving my neck and waist circumferences.

Ten more inches off my waist and I get to be in DEP. Yay.

And if worst comes to absolute worst, a doctor friend told me about a liquid diet he puts guys on so they can pass the weighing at MEPS. Brutal shit, but if there's a demand for it I guess I could dig it up and post it.

How do I failed tripfag?

I've got several months, so no Old Geezer I don't think we'll need that diet posted. I'll need to look at that neck waist ratio thing and see if I can get in that way if I must. I'm getting pretty muscular, so I might weigh too much even with most of my bodyfat gone.
