Hey /fit/,

Beginning of the year (mid-jan,) I got sick. Bad flu. A couple weeks later I had a 1-day relapse.

Inbetween and for a little after I had a nasty cough I couldn't get rid of until recently.

I just pickedu p running again. I used to do 5 miles in about 43 minutes 3x a week, but when I got back on 2 miles fucked me up, and I did it in 18:10 (8:40 for the first mile, 9:30 for the second.) To be fair it was 32 out and I was inhaling daggers.

How long will it take me to get back up to my past performance, or will I have to train all the way back up as if I had never been able to run that far before?

Pic unrelated.

Your current speed doesn't seem to be THAT far off from your previous.

But yes, you'll always have to regain some lost ground when you go sedentary for a period of time.

You had the flu too, huh?

I think it might take you 2 weeks to get back to your usual performance level, since that's how long it took me to get back on track- but even then I wasn't even trying THAT hard.
And heck, I haven't even gotten rid of my cough.

Well, it wasn't just that, its that at the end of the two miles I was DONE.

Maybe its psychological too and I just need to get used to pushing myself again.

This.
Push yourself, but don't hurt yourself. If you REALLY try then you'll be back to normal in almost no time.

If it's been a month and a half you'll probably end up having to train for another 3 weeks or so.

That kinda sucks, I am hoping to get to 10 miles 3x a week by the end of July.
