When you go to talk to your elected officials, though, the first thing you say shouldn't be "tighten revolving door restrictions" or "zomg cancel the FDA."
It should be "increase the FDA's funding as much as you possibly can". 95% of the problem at FDA is due to the chronic, near-criminal, underfunding of the agency. They simply cannot afford to do a good job on the money congress gives them, and because the agency bosses are Bush appointees, they consistently low-ball the budget requests, asking for much less than they actually need. They need the Bush political appointees at the top replaced with Obama appointees, and they need a budget that actually allows them to do the work they're needed for.
