Dear anon,

I, at age 20, have the skin of a 60 year old Bond villian.

It's covered in stubborn red marks from previous acne battles, and my pores are the size of an obese family's dinner plates. After being exposed to water, it becomes so dry that it cracks and bleeds, but moisturizers make it look like its been smeared with bear grease. Pic obviously not me, but the texture is similar.

Does /fit/ have any advice?

(I know, I know, acne.org. The people there are entirely unhelpful)

go see a dermatologist?

It's the most obvious answer. Not necessarily the easiest or cheapest, but probably the most effective.

And hey, it worked for me. Used to have real bad acne back in college, saw a dermatologist and in 6 months it was gone for good.

avoiding dairy and DHA in high doses (~5g daily) coupled with getting a good sweat then showering right seems to keep my shit down

also the regemin from acne.org

Dairy doesn't cause acne, not even in lactose intolerant people.
Acne is a hormonal thing.

I used to have terrible acne. Some pills, and bit of creme now and then (The good creme, not the salycitic acid crap) and now I'm all clear.

sorry OP, i have no remedies to offer but i'm in a similar situation. I have such shitty skin @ age 18, it's pathetic. It's obviously hereditary, and similar to what you've described. I have HUGE pores that always seem to be filled with some shit, and my skin is soooo dry. it doesn't bleed but it itches like hell after a shower - so if it wasn't bleeding before it will be by the time i'm done scratching it. i think it's mostly eczema (sp?) but my skin is also very sensitive to clothing - i've even tried to keep my wardrobe down to 100% cotton but i still end up lying in bed awake willing myself not to scratch. so I can at least share in the rage, OP

l2foundation. Smear it on thick enough that you can't see the dry skin any more. I should do this, but never do cause I don't care enough.

moisturizer is the answer.

Also professional healthcare.
