soup /fit/

I'm guessing the 'Health' part means this can go in here.

I'm epileptic and am considered low risk, my trigger being sleep deprivation, until recently when I had a seizure for no apparent reason. Since this last seizure my driver's licence has been revoked by order of my neurologist.

My question is, does anyone else reading this have epilepsy, what's your trigger, are you allowed to drive?

That's the fucking rocks, man... Don't you need to drive for work/school? I don't have epilepsy, but it sounds pretty scary. How dangerous is a seizure? Risk to your life I mean.

friend had petit mals, no trigger. managed it just fine with meds, until he stopped taking them and drove his car into a freeway median....he got his license back a year later.

Sounds like you're not low risk anymore, have you considered asking your MD about meds?

My boss lives near by and starts the same time as me everyday, so I just get a lift with him.

Last seizure I had when the paramedics saw me they immediately called for another ambulance. I was blue because I couldn't breathe properly. I only know this from witnesses. The other thing is I have gran mal seizures, which means I completely loose conciousness, pumps every ounce of adreniline I have to every muscle in my body and could, quite potentially, severely injure those around me, as it was in my semi-concious state, I swore at the paramedics and tried to hit them.

tl;dr I could die and not realize it about to happen.

I'm suspended from driving for atleast two years, I have to go to the neurologist soon for an EEG scan (measuring my brainwaves) and I'll be asking what meds I can get, but I highly doubt it'll mean I can drive again.

Actually, if you can find a good medication and are seizure-free for a while you might get the driving privileges back. I've been on a couple of anti-convulsants but took them as mood stabilizers instead (bipolar). Lamictal is one of the newer drugs that is an anti-convulsant and anti-depressant...I take that and have virtually no side effects...

Do you need frequent blood tests with that? I was on epilum for a while, but stopped because I hated the monthly blood tests. Now that I look back, that was a bad idea.
