Sweating /fit/

In high school before I lost about 70 pounds my gym coach always said that you should get your heart rate up to the point where you are sweating for a half hour for real results.
Now I realized that even when I was a fatass no matter how much I exercise I've barely ever sweat, is this normal? I can bench and squat an entire days worth and not sweat a drop.

What's your set-rep range on your lifts?

but I've always had this problem as far back as I can remember

Drink some water.

Thank you god, I could try that... I'm never thirsty and always drink plenty during and after I work out.

How long have you been doing 5x5?

It might be a case for just doing some interval training. Go to a track and sprint fullout for 30secs, jog for 30secs (after a warmup). Repeat until your jog and sprint speeds are about the same. That should get your heart rate up.

don't suppose your feeling kinda sick when it happens right? if so, you would need something salty...strange as that sounds

Thanks
I've been meaning to start cardio recently but I'm still really self conscious from when I was fat(ter) I'm down to 190 from 260-270 and hate running in public.

The thing about fitness is you can't have too much of an ego. So what if I don't look good running. I'm taking steps to improve myself, which is more than the majority of the US can say.

Sweating has nothing to do with heart rate or weight loss, it's simply your body cooling down from being overheated. You might have a naturally stout cardiovascular system that doesn't make you very prone to sweating.

You're still burning calories as long as you're doing the exercises properly for at least 20 minutes. Regardless of what your dipshit coach thought, sweating is not relating to the burning of calories AT ALL.

This is good advice.

Just a word of warning. If you weigh 190 intervals might be kinda hard on your knees. You're going to want a soft running surface, like a rubberized track, if you want to try it. Just be careful with your knees.

Keep track of your heart rate. If it's through the roof and you're out of breath, you've just had a workout even if you didn't sweat.
