Cause he was 300 pounds. Your body naturally loses the excess excess pounds easier, and its tougher to exercise when you carry 300 lbs so it requires more energy. It's when he gets around 210-220 that he's gonna plateau.

something that has mystified me. I'm 5'10" at 20 years old and last year I weighed ~170 lbs. I went on stronglifts and now weigh 192 after going off it during the summer. I have lost most of my gut and my love handles and seem to be losing more each day.
Is this in any way normal? I think I'm looking great.
My dad has always been stocky with arms that look the way my legs used to look and he never did anything but run...

im 164 and still think im fat, though I DO still have a gut and mantits, they look like they will be gone ina mnth or two so I can start bulking

but Ive been lifting over the past 3-4 months so wen it comes off i wont look awful

I dropped about 40 lbs. in five months and it sure as shit wasn't going to get done on oatmeal and salads.

When you work out you are using carbs, burning some fat, and tearing up muscle. In my mind(and what worked for me) was mainly a protein(not meat necessarily, WHOLE PROTIEN) diet and lots of water. Any American gets lots of carbs and the necessary amount of fat just from eating bullshit here and there at work or school, but any meal that you can prepare while you have time/opportunity should be lean, whole, protien and water. That's as simple as I can make it.

Oatmeal and salads are just going to replace the carbs you burned and offer you very little in the way of usable proteins to rebuilds the muscles you've rediscovered.
