Diabetic Cat- need help Anonymous
I also posted this in Animals, but figured maybe there are some diabetics here or people that know more about it. My cat is diabetic, i give him "Caninsulin" 2 times a day, one time every 12 hours. Is there anything else i should do? Diet supplement/wise? Her tail "shakes/shivers" frequently and the underside of her belly has gotten bald and has reddish irritated skin and my veterinarian hasn't got a clue what to do. He's a total noob, sadly so i am so i need your help.

You could ask your vet, a qualified animal physician, rather than anonymous.

I think caninsulin is meant for dogs.

Look for felixsulin instead.

It is just a brand name, it is suitable for both cats and dogs

My cat was diabetic. This was quite a long time ago, so I don't really remember all the details. All I can remember is that once a day we had to give him a shot of insulin given to us by the vet. We had to put him on a diet, although IIRC we didn't have to buy any special brand of food or supplements. I never saw any irritated skin, or any shivering tail, so it may be that your cat is reacting badly to the insulin? Hope this helps, but I really can't remember all that much.

Oh, and we ended up putting him down. Shit sucked. Try to find a different vet, and enjoy your time with your cat while you can.

give your cat exercise
exercise will immediately improve insulin sensitivity
and long-term exercise will have long-term benefits as well.

God damn your cat be fat and lazy. Do you keep trapped indoors all day?

Drive out for twenty miles and drop your cat in a street somewhere and drive back home and forget about it and then get a new cat the next day. Problem solved.
