Hello /fit/

I have a question... What are the symptoms of Lung Cancer? I've been worried lately, I've been a smoker on and off for about a year or two but recently I've been coughing up a little blood occasionally when I spit (It'll happen about every few days). I quit just a week ago and I just need to know if this is normal for withdrawal or if something could be seriously wrong and I should see a doctor.

Thanks.

Usually any blood coming up from coughing is a bad thing. Go to the doctor.

OP Sidenote: I haven't had any respiratory problems, I cough occasionally but no major cough fits or problems breathing.

* dyspnea (shortness of breath)
* hemoptysis (coughing up blood)
* chronic coughing or change in regular coughing pattern
* wheezing
* chest pain or pain in the abdomen
* cachexia (weight loss), fatigue and loss of appetite
* dysphonia (hoarse voice)
* clubbing of the fingernails (uncommon)
* dysphagia (difficulty swallowing).

How old are you? If you'd only been smoking a year or two I wouldn't worry about it. Smokers who get lung cancer are usually smoking 40+ years. For you to get it would be very unlikely. The blood is probably just from irritation and burst capillaries in the throat from coughing too much. Knowing people who have quit, they have coughed up all kinds of weird stuff.

I'm 19. And yeah, I think I'm just a little over worried. I still run occasionally, and I never have problems breathing when I'm active or inactive. I cough a little but nothing major or that I can't control.

Another sidenote: I wasn't a pack a day person either, more of a pack every week or so with 5 or more given to friends.
