Back in January, I went to the dentist to have some cavities filled, and the Novocaine they gave me didn't work. I mean, I felt numb all over the side of my mouth, but when they put the drill in I could feel it. I haven't been since, and the cavity they were going to fill is starting to hurt, so I want to figure out what happened. The trick is, I had my wisdom teeth out in August and I can't remember if I had any work on my teeth done between then and the last time.tl;dr What would make Novocaine numb your mouth, but not the nerves in a tooth, and could having your wisdom teeth out do that?
The Novocaine did numb you're mouth. but it doesnt numb your mouth completely, you can still feel it, it still hurts but with the novocaine, you arent in such extreme pain that you pass out etc.
I hate the feeling of being given a shot in the gums. Jesus fuck just thinking about it makes me cringe.
>>81138I've gotten like four or five cavities in as many years, I know what having my teeth worked on feels like. It hurt worse than it should have.
you probably should have let them know it still hurt and they would have given you more novocaine. when i have had cavities filled the only thing that hurts is the shot they give you and that lasts for a few seconds.
I did, they gave me more, I felt numb all over my mouth, and it still hurt.
Its because the larger teeth aka molars have multiple (3) roots, im guessing this was on the bottom correct? There can be a root that sticks out towards your cheek that is not affected by the Novocaine from just putting it in the back of your mouth. if your dentist was worth shit he wouldve stopped then gave you some Novocaine on the buccal aka cheek side of the tooth to releive the pain.
