Sup mis/fit/sI'm a beginner at HIIT and I have a question for you guys.Initially, I started doing 30 seconds 'sprint' and 30 seconds 'rest', but during the rest stage my heart rate wouldn't drop to around 60% of its max.So I timed to see how long it would take for my heart rate to drop. After 180 seconds, my heart rate was still nearly 70%.Is this okay, or should I try to reduce the duration of my sprint and increase the rest time? If so, then to what?Pic unrelated, but I thought you might like it.
I have nothing to add to that other than, I am curious as well. Should rests be about 2 minutes? And what if your heart rate doesn't increase quick enough in 30 seconds? Should you just estimate your HR while you run?

well, just run for 1 minute and then walk for 1 minute....and if your heartrate is not going up then run faster.don't worry so much about the heart rate thing.

Don't worry about heart rate. The whole point of HIIT is to improve the rest times between lifting sets (or other demand tasks) by bringing your heart rate down quicker.If your heart rate already went down quick there'd be nothing to work on now would there? ;)
