Question about HIIT and cardio.

If I want to do both, can I do them on the same day or should I alternate between the two? I'm really ITCHING to start doing HIIT but I'm holding back for some stupid reason. I'm going to do HIIT instead of my normal running tonight btw.

Brings up another question: Is it still beneficial to do HIIT at night? This is when I usually run... I want to start waking up in the morning and go on a short jog and do HIIT at night.. Or should I be doing HIIT in the morning and a nice run at night? Or split the days I do running and HIIT?

--> I run every other day and lift days I dont run.
--> If I really like HIIT I might just kick the steady pace running completely out. I don't know yet.
--> I'm worried if I do HIIT in the morning I'm going to be exhausted throughout the day. Guess theres only one way to find out about that... D:

Pic unrelated. Its a crappy scene I modeled for my 3d animation class.

regardless of your goals:

lift weights primarily
do HIIT on off days

But can I still do the steady paced cardio on the same day as HIIT or should I just not do it at all?

I enjoy running is the thing. But I want better results.
