running buhh Anonymous
i've figured out the only reason people run is because it's cheap, somewhat effective, and in most cases all that is required.

cost to start running: $0
cost to start running knowledgeably: $20-30 (POSE method of running book or chi running)
cost to start running knowledgeably with the most benefits: $100 (POSE or Chi book and vibram five fingers)
cost to start running like a champ: $150
(POSE book, vibram five fingers, and some nice running clothes so you don't look like you just took a bath after running)

that's pretty cheap if you ask me, but that's really the only good thing about it. Cons are enormous, anywhere from blisters to fractured bones in foot to shin splints.

You probably think I hate running, but I don't I just don't do it very often because the benefits outweigh the risks slightly as opposed to airdyne/concept 2/biking

To buy an airdyne costs 600 dollars, a concept 2 900, a bike 500 but none of them carry the risks that running do and the airdyne and concept 2 work the upper body at the same time that running does not.

I prefer concept 2 or airdyne over running any day of the week, and yes I'm a decent runner (10:12 mile and half).

Fucking moron.

Running done correctly with warmups, cool-downs, proper stretching, proper footwear, and attention to your body's signals NEVER involves "blisters, bone fractures, shin splints" or the like.

ADDITIONALLY, when done properly, long term runners see a marked decrease in occurrence of arthritis, osteoporosis, and joint damage.

Get your shit straight, and fucking run.

Fuck you and your stupid fucking post.

I run marathons, nigger, and I've never had to deal with blisters nor fractures nor shin splints. Clearly you are doing it wrong.

Uhhhh. Running costs nothing. Who the fuck buys special clothes to run? I just wear my swim trunks.

I wear my same shoes, and just run around where I live.

op here

if you run in conventional running shoes you are doing more damage than good until you throw away them pieces of shit.

humans weren't meant to have a higher heel than ball of foot and when you land on the heel first and then the front you are fucking up your feet and legs little by little.

still it's a good way to get injured if you don't know what you're doing which I see 99% of the people doing, so call me stupid all you want but it's the truth, people aren't born with shoes on their feet they're born with feet nothing else.

those dumb niggers just watn money so they throw you a pair of 120 dollar running shoes made for dwarfs that make you 5 inches higher. all the running shoes i ever had made my legs hurt after 10 minutes.

it's hard to learn POSE with those shoes because they are counter intuitive to the idea. my legs never hurt anymore running barefoot or with vibram five fingers but it's still not worth it to run rather than c2 or airdyne

and the idiot that said your bones will get denser, no they don't. they just destroy your posture and make your feet weaker.
try running barefoot after using 120 dollar running shoes and you will probably break every bone in your foot after a 5 mile run if you don't break down and cry in agony, if not before your calves give out and tear apart.

In a healthy human body, a bone renews itself every 7 years, if part a of the bone gets higher pressure then before, it will become denser.

You're a fucking idiot for denying this.

Very few people can run long-distance forever. The same reason why most people can't lift weights/play any sport forever, they don't do it right and fuck themselves up... or the people who do know what they're doing are either lazy/unlucky for one moment and get fucked up.

truth: i've been to the podiatrists about 5 times and every time they claim i have a high arch and i need support for it. I bought into their bullshit antics and got some 500 dollar orthotics and their recommendation for running shoes. because after about 30 minutes of running my foot would go numb and start to tingle which didn't seem normal.

anyways i bought their 620 dollars in bullshit. 3 months later my foot is still hurting i'm getting blisters and I tell them about this and they do adjustments (about 4 after it's all said and done) and my feet are still hurting and the occasional blister.
well after 5 or so months i just stopped going to the appointments because i figured this isn't going away and they're a bunch of money grabbing phd's. so I did some research and figured out I could be running wrong so I bought the POSE method book and tried it out, after the 1-2 week intial period where your calves are literally so sore that you can't even stand up, my feet were feeling fine. So after a year of bullshitting with the phd's all I had to do was change my running, and eventually my shoes (which I own 2 pairs of vibram five fingers) to get rid of all the problems

why they didn't tell me this before I don't know, but mostly because they studied steal your money and not help you-ology and laugh all the way to the bank.

Torrent for POSE book plox!

You don't need a fucking book to tell you how to run. What you DO need is a goodass pair of running shoes to prevent injury.
>> Anonymous !ErY2TknG0w
Oh controversy.

Since I've always been a sprinter type runner I always strike mid-foot (on the ball) first and push off from the toes.
My running shoes are all flexible and flat soled which has never caused me problems.

You'd be surprised, I've seen some fucking awful running technique in my time.
>> Anonymous
>>317523

that's the thing you don't need shoes, whatever dumb cunt that invented shoes to support your foot when you don't need support should die in hell.

what the fuck do you need support for, humans have gone without shoes for aeons and now we need them? i'm sure people ran before, it's not like running was invented for fucks sake. did people's feet stop working because they had shoes? no they probably got stronger, which shoes don't do for you.

Oh is that so? Cause for a second I remembered that there isn't really any wrong running technique. Well, balls.

>>317530
You're so right. Human beings evolved to take pressure from concrete. Gravel roads were crucial to our evolution. And remember when cavemen lived on Cheetohs? I bet they ran every morning after coffee. Sometimes I imagine what it would be live if I never wore shoes and my feet looked like dog feet or something, all rough and chaf-y like human feet are supposed to look.

human is an intelectual being that can use items to benefit itself (like sticks and fire), were the world record for 100m made barefoot, do the marathon runners of the olympic run barefoot? no they run in the fcken running shoes, now stfu and go fuck with monkeys, cause u clearly need some more evolution

Even horses need shoes you stupid asshole. Now why do you think that is?

I just recently bought some running shoes (nearly the cheapest the store had) and some light weight exercise shorts.

fantastic difference, before it was pound pound pound now it's a lot smoother to run. Its only for exercise, I don't plan on running anywhere without shoes on anytime soon.

Human beings have evolved to be able to run on most surfaces. How is running on a cement road different from running on hard packed earth or the ground during the winter? How is a gravel road different then running along a river bed?

If we couldn't run from things in the winter or from animals chasing us away from rivers, we'd have been FUCKED a long time ago.

OP you forgot that you can run anywhere in any weather.

I run from bears every morning when I catch my day's deer. Then I cook it on an open flame in my cave, but not enough to rid it of dangerous e coli. I'm 28 years old, so I don't care about diseases anymore, since I'll be dead by 30.

and can someone tell wtf is "vibram five fingers", been running for couple of years now(mostly long distance 25km+) but nevar heard of dat shit

For me, bikes are much more dangerous than running. Why? because I had a bad biking accident and I hate turning, going down hill, riding over uneven terrain.

I'd much rather run.
>> Anonymous
lol at the people thinking shoes were invented for support. Shoes are now MARKETED as "support." Shoes were invented to avoid punctures, injuries, and disease prevention from stepping on something that could injure you through puncture, etc.
