HIIT vs Lifting then Running Fatty Fatty Fat Fat !B2n0CENh.A
Yo /fit/ Instead of doing normal HIIT I tried to lift 1st then run. I think the results were just as good if not better than HIIT.

HIIT is effective for fat loss because it quickly depletes your glygogen stores and forces your body to use fat as it's fuel right?

Shouldn't lifting all your muscle groups then say running a 5k in like 24min do the same thing?

HIIT does not burn very much fat at all actually

its hte EPOC effect

excess post-exercises oxygen consumption. It causes your body to continue to burn calories at an increased rate even once exercise has stopped.

if you squat or do any other serious leg work running long distances afterwards is kinda gnarly on your stretched out ligaments.

just run on a treadmill for 15-20 minutes and drink a water bottle with a scoop of whey protein in it before you lift, just rest for a few minutes and stretch before you start lifting.

woooah this sounds good.

In layman's terms is this like breathing really hard long after you have stopped the exercise?

sorta...its a little more complicated but essentially your body is pulling in more oxygen than usual even once your breath slows down. I dont want to start the idea that hyperventilating will make you lose weight. Although deep breathing can be very handy (which is why yoga seems to work great for fatloss)

think of your metabolism as a giant fire, more oxygen will make the fire burn brighter.

I see and HIIT is much more effective than regular paced running at getting to that point where your body is still pulling in more oxygen even though breathing slows down, correct?

save HIIT for when youre a bit skinnier though,it'll be hell for your knees otherwise. For now just stick to a little running on a treadmill at the gym before a workout. Also,if you can get some kettlebells and look for some good workouts with them, theyre compareable to HIIT imo

I started out running 5ks 5-7 days a week about 4 weeks ago. I started out at around 28min and i just ran one in 22min last week.

About 2 weeks ago I started adding in weight lifting doing SQUATZ and other lifts. I lift 2-days a week now doing a 3x12 ( i heard this was good for keeping your muscle mass while you are trying to lose weight).

I think I can start some HIIT right?

just keep lifting for atleast 6 months after you lose all the weight you want to.The more you can see, feel, and show off your muscles the more you want to work on them

My normal work out is run a 5k 6-7 days a week and tack on 2 days of lifting all over usually on wed & sat

I'll replace one run day with HIIT on the bike and see how it goes.

2 weeks ago I was 196lb with 27% BFP. That when I started to lift and srsly diet.

Here goes nothing /fit/ !! rawr
