I just ran today for the first time. I'm following this guide:

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

It beat me up like a motherfucker, My back and legs hurt a bit, not too much though.

Question is:I don't want to run, this is just to prep my body. After the 8 weeks you think I'll be able to do sprinting HIIT? Also, at what point should I start lifting? I'm Planning to lift Mon,Wed,Fri. And HIIT on Tue, Thu.

So I take it by the way you phrased this topic that you have never run in your life and as such walk, crawl, or drive wherever you go.

MISCONCEPTION: YOU NEED TO RUN TO BE FIT

TRUTH: YOU NEED TO BE FIT TO RUN

the ratio of orthopedic/muscular skeletal injuries on casual (ie. YOU) joggers/fitness folk outweighs issues from weight training on a ratio of 50:1.... there was a study done on this, cant find the link. it had soccer as the most dangerous (like 1000+:1 w/weightlifting)
