Hernia Anonymous
Hey fit,

Two years ago, I had surgery to repair 2 hernias - one Hiatal (as shown in pic) and one inguinal - which was causing nut pain, hence the surgery.

Inguinal was repaired with Mesh, and Hiatal was just sewn closed. Anyhow, turns out my family has a long history of these (thanks, Dad) - I'm really paranoid about weight bearing exercise (Squatz, D-lift, etc) with heavy weights, out of fear that I'll re-injure the areas.

Advice? I don't think it was anything in particular in my training that caused the earlier injuries, but I really don't care to relive the experience.

Ask you doctor.

I had an inguinal hernia and an umbilical hernia repaired last year in the same way. The recovery took a while, but I haven't had any problems with sports or lifting since.

Meh, my doctor did a fine job on the repair and all, but then told me that having had the hernias didn't make me more likely to have them in future.

No.146026 - I just get pain right on the incision area when I do twisting motions, and sometimes I swear I feel the same 'out of place' sensation right there. I know a lot of it's in my head though, mebbe I just need to ride it out.
