So I've just started SL's 5X5.I'm on the 3rd week now.At first it wasn't that bad of course, but when I started adding more weight to the barbell row's it's starting to kill my lower back.My form is pretty good, I can go almost parallel to the floor. When I reach down to get the bar at such light weights though I have to actually bend over more to reach it to pick it up and I put it back on the floor for every rep.Would this be a reason why it's killing my lower back? What would be a good way to help with this?Stacking some weights on the floor and putting the bar on there so it's higher till I can use bigger weights or..?And I read around that my lower back is probably just weak as crap so I should just continue doing rows and deadlifts (I love deadlifts) and eventually the lower back pain will go away.Just wanted some of /fit/'s advice on this matter.
Check your deadliftz form, add back extensions and glute-ham raises
You have a weak lower back. Do moar deadlifts.
Oh yeah, to anyone else with a history in 5x5 have this problem? If so, how long did it take you to get over it?
>>205047Thanks for that, I believe (but could be wrong) that I have good deadlift form. It's my favorite thing to do at the gym.>>205050Yes boss, Keeping at it.
Derp bawmp
>>205044Does your back hurt while doing it or afterwords? When I first started doing deadlifts my lower back killed me. It felt like my normal lower back pain but it came on about 5 hours after a heavy workout and stopped hurting after a few days. I just started my second week of the 5x5 this week and my gym has a little stand that holds the barbell about a foot off the ground that I use for barbell rows until I get to 45lb plates so that it's the correct distance off the ground.
