Hello, /fit/.

My name is James.

I'm currently 17 years old, will be 18 in a few months, 6'1", and weigh a little over 300 pounds, very little of which is muscle.

I've been obese since I was 11, and have tried... A lot of different things. I had some success a year ago, was down to around 230, then my girlfriend broke up with me, and like an emo bitch I gained it all back.

I've been making very little progress recently with my 1500 calorie diet and daily exercise regimen (exact same thing I was doing last year, just isn't working anymore for some reason), and have even gained a little weight. I was at 298 prior to me starting to care about it again, and am now at 319. I believe this is mostly due to the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing.

So... I guess what I'm looking for is some advice. Not necessarily a strictly laid out plan. Just something to start at, and build off of.

personal advice - don't post your picture.it will end up in places you'd rather it not.

i'm not sure specifically of what your diet consists of right now, or what kind of exercises your doing. there's definitely a lot of things that could be recommended, but I honestly think your best bet is to go to a doctor. my friend went to her regular doctor for a health check up, and she was able to tell her some basic good diet choices to make as well as excerises that were appropriate for her. good luck!

Generally, I eat a bowl of cereal, a yogurt, and drink a glass of milk each morning. Then eat a sandwich or something similar for lunch, and stick to lean meats (chicken, usually) for dinner, along with vegetables, etc.

I used to go run/jog/walk for an hour every morning, but I can't take the people who yell things from their cars at me anymore. Recently I've just been lifting a little and riding my stationary bike at a medium resistance.

And, yeah. One of the main reasons I didn't initially post the picture was because I don't much feel like becoming the next big joke on /b/

It sounds like you're doing the right things so far, but seriously, go to a health professional rather than 4chan. they won't want to see your man tits in order to get health advice.

you'll never lose that much weight. most people struggle to lose a pound a week and you're about 120 overweight. you'll starve and punish yourself for years, but you love to eat. you'll be so unhappy, dont do it. life is short, dont make yourself miserable for years just so you can try to fit into someone else's standard of attractiveness. there is no guarantee of decent results and even after all the years of torment, when you relax you'll just put it all back on.

this is your problem, your diet is bullshit. absolute crap. goddamn. people think this shit is healthy and that's half the problem.

you need to eat properly and lift heavy. go to tnation.com, and look for their physique clinic. read the threads through to the end, and that will give you an idea of the process involved. then go on to their nutrition articles and learn what healthy eating actually means. it's perfectly doable and requires more dedication to break habits than it does pain.
