Desperately need your help /fit/. Anonymous
So i started the stronglifts 5x5 program a while ago. While trying to figure out correct squat technique, i found something that felt right. Problem is, it also felt as though every time i get under the bar im cutting off circulation to my arms when i start doing reps. Forearms and hands start going all tingly. So i thought, meh, Ill figure it out, goes away anyway. So today, it was worse than ever. Then, when i decide to try some uper body work instead, its as though my arms, especially my left, arent listening to me or something.

An hour and a half later, and im literally afraid. The numbness and tingling isnt gone, and my arms still wont listen to me. Its not weakness because ive been working out, since i hardly got anything done.

I know that /fit/ is not the first place to go for medical advice, but assuming i dont wake up paralyzed or dead, im seeing both my general practitioner and a physical therapist tomorrow. Need any input you have, thanks.

pic note related... I hope

Pinched nerve or blood vessel. Get someone to massage it

if i do recover, what would you recommend, doing barbell squats instead now?

You probably cut off some circulation. Have someone who knows what they're doing teach you correct form. Ever sleep on your arms and wake up without being able to feel or move them? Same thing, except you're crushing your vessels with heavy weights instead of body weight. Still, it's not something you should be doing regularly.

This. The bar is in the wrong place, it's too high up and cutting off circulation.

Done it before myself, though not with SQUATZ. Get someone to teach you proper form and you'll be fine. If the tingling and weakness persists, go see a doctor.

Oh thank god. fingers still a bit numb/tingly, but i think im mostly fine again. I was thinking just stick to barbell squats from now on?

Yeah, should be fine to keep doing squatz, just get someone to teach you proper form. This goes for all lifts BTW, make damn sure you're using proper form in everything you do.

My form on the other exercises has been verified as good, its just that i cant seem to stay consistent with my squats though. Bar behind the neck on my traps, etc etc, thought i was doing it right.
