So, I got my new pushbike today for cardio work. I was thinking to myself 'Sure, I can ride for an hour each morning'. Fuck I was wrong... I rode for 5 minutes and I was out of breath, and needing an inhaler.
Should I start out just riding for 15-30 minutes at a reasonably slow pace just to get used to riding?

Yes! No point rushing into it.

Build up your endurance by going slow, then look into HIIT. You can get the same results without spending hours on the bike.

OP here,

Thanks a lot. I want to build my endurance up enough to the point that I can ride for 1-2 hours straight, then join the local MTB club and ride on weekends with them.

Just start with 10 mins, next day 12, next day 15, and so on and just keep pushing yourself.

What the fuck only 5 minutes?
Thats seriously poor dude. Though just raise the time every day until you get to the amount you want.

Does too. You can't do cardio. Thus unfit.
