Hey /fit/. I'm 18 years old, 135 pounds, and 5'8.I've been working out at my local gym about 5 times a week now, for 30 minutes to an hour, for the past 5 months. I eat a healthy and well rounded diet.

My question is, how can i manage to have ripped abs? As many crunches as i do, i never seem to get the definition i crave. Are there any specific exercises i should do? What are your recommendations?

tl;dr: Any recommendations on how to achieve six pack abs?

crunches don't give you any range of motion. Hanging leg lifts, bosu ball crunches etc.

>Hanging leg lifts
idiocy.

Crunches are fine, it takes longass time build abs (i've been at it for 2 years).
Maybe try dragonflags, if you're looking for some variety

10 minute abs, motherfuck. A girl showed me these. She has better abs than I do.

1 minute each. No breaks in between.

Front plank
heels 6 inches off the ground, legs straight
crucifix (balance on your ass, lean back, arms out)
flutter kicks
leg levers
crunches
oblique crunches
bicycle
legs straight up, crunches

basically any ab workout for a minute straight, 10 different ones. Mix it up. You probably won't be able to do it without stopping the first several times, but it works. I've got veins popping out of my fucking lower abs now. Shit is awesome.

How are hanging leg lifts idiocy? Besides working your abdominals through a full range of motion, it can build flexibility also.

Take a look at this. http://dragondoor.com/cgi-bin/articles.pl?rm=mode3&articleid=329

In order to get "ripped abs," you need to build muscle and lose fat. Keep that in mind as you learn about more exercises, such as L sits, bridges, abdominal wheels, body levers, etc.

Diet. Yes, you are skinny, but you are not skinny enough.

Because - like situps - they make you flex your hip, not your lower back.
And flexing your hip involves illiopsoas, which is far stronger muscle (and i'm not even getting into how and where in the body they are attached).
Agreed, the start of the movement involves rectus abdominus, but thats about it.

Dragonflags and crunches are way more isolated.
