Marathon advice Anonymous
I want to run the SF marathon on August 3rd.

I've never ran a marathon before. The longest I've ran was 10 miles or so, in high school. Also at that time, I could run a 5 minute mile (just one).
Currently I'm 22, work full-time hard manual labor, and run 4-7 miles every other weekend.
I'm much slower. I ran 7 miles last week and it took me about an hour and a half. Yesterday I ran 4 and it took me about 35 minutes.

If I start training hard now (long run on weekend cycling up and then down with shorter runs throughout the weeks) can I realistically complete the marathon well within the scored time of 6 hours?

I've never done this before and would appreciate any tips or ideas of what to expect.

Is it SF in particular? I mean, if I want to run a marathon I have to start somewhere right?

I don't have any advice for you since I don't run. I'm just saying, I know a few people who run in that marathon annually, and they get to experience being paraplegics for a week after. Very grueling and very tough.

10 miles is a world away from running a marathon. But if you're ready, then go for it.

is the SF marathon the one named the rock n roll marathon or something along the lines of that. Because my mom is a marathon runner and usually runs the NYC marathon every year. But 3 years ago she flew out to california to run a marathon there. It was called the rock n roll marathon or something like that and i think it was in SF. Anyway she said it was harder than the NYC but easier than the Boston marathon just to give you an idea of difficulty level.
