there is an exercise for forearms you hold light weights at a 90 degree angle standing straight...
you pull the weights up with your wrist and keep ur arm at 90 and palms down
i've been doing this for some time and seen significant improvements
there are also machines at the gym for the arms which u can add ur own twist to so that ur forearms get a better workout

deadlifts will do fuck all to improve forearms size that kind of static isometric tension does nothing to improve size. if you want to get popeye forearms do wrist curls for 30 reps, then 20, then 15, 10. As you decrease the reps add weight but do not add too much. all you need to do is feel a "pump", strength training will do fuck all for size. this takes a lot longer than most other muscle groups because the forearms respond very slowly, but after 2-3 months you will notice a drastic difference. do this every day.

Also, it's mostly genetic. I deadlift huge weights for my size and my forearms look pathetic. (not that I care about it too much, I only want to lift those heavy ass weights.)
