hey /fit/
How bad am I jeopardizing my health by going to a non board certified doctor?
He's the closest one to me, and I'm seeing him at 1pm.
Am I condemning myself, or is it really just a certificate?

Does he have a doctorate from somewhere? Has he spent time doing rounds at a hospital? Whats his specialty?

I just signed up with wellcare and they sent his address to me. Gave me a list to choose from and he was closest. I'm not exactly rolling in dough so my budget kinda dictates where I go.
He's listed under internal medicine.

I'm going to try googling his information; thanks.

Oh shit. I'm getting no results, and I found out the definition of board certified. Kind of.
Does it mean he didn't finish his studies??

[I'm turning kinda green honestly...]

Well, what are you seeing him for?

I could diagnos a cold or flu or something. Maybe even eye/ear/throat infections.

He's my new general physician, and it'll be the first time I'm getting a check up in almost 4 years.
I need to get a bill of health before going to a dentist or eye doctor.
I'm probably anemic, and am currently covered in a rash.
Um, yeah. Sorry if its tmi.

Yeah, you're not getting a clean bill of health for that.

I'd save up some money and go see a big people doctors and then make an appointment with a dermatologist.

well, you can realize if he's talking protip or talking nonsense. make sure what says makes sense, if he can't explain simply, then he blows donkey balls. everything can be explained simply. EVERYTHING.

ask questions, until you're comfortable. he's not gonna stick needles in you, so bring that info here your unsure about and anon can double check it. good luck

Oh, I don't expect to, but I just wanted to get it diagnosed, treated, and over with.

I'm going to today's appointment only. If they give me any medication I'll look for a 'big' doctor to look it over.
Argh, damn my weak body.
Thank you for your help.

lol thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm honestly feeling better about it. Doctors make me nervous as it is, and don't need new things to worry about.
Time for this anon to start moving out.

I went to a doc-in-the-box once. ONCE.
Got some doctor from Uganda, who told me I was Ketoacidotic (ultra-high blood surag, spilling ketones) and never even did a finger stick. My glucose was friggin 118. Turned out I was suffering from kidney failure and MRSA.
Fucking quacks.
go to a real, certified, board-passed, AMA M.D.
or at least a D.O. but go to a real doctor.
