Does eating a lot of bread cause weight gain? Anonymous
I've heard eating a lot of bread is bad because it will cause weight gain (and yeast in bread contributes to this).

Does that only apply to breads made with white flour or does it also include wheat flour breads?

Being food, Bread has calories, so yes.

Now fuck off.

I meant, just as a standalone food. Not calorie wise.

I should have worded this better.

Would eating a lot of bread (wheat bread) be just a bad choice for trying to lose weight?

Being that I love bread.

Well its a carb. And it has calories.

If your diet includes carbs, go for it.

I would say avoid bread after 5pm and don't gorge on it, but your body is yours and you know it best.

Personally I stay away from bread while trying to lose weight and only have it like once a week. It's not a bad food.

Ok, you basically need to stop eating white bread entirely if you want to lose weight, and minimise the amount of whole grain bread you eat too, and like>>106209said, because of the carbs, don't eat it in the evening.

No "normal/average" item of food causes weight gain unless it puts you over your calorie count for the day...

Wheat bread is generally better than white bread, it's good for protein and dietary fiber and fits well in a balanced diet.

That being said, it obviously depends what your fitness goals are. I eat around 4 slices of wheat a day simply because I'm trying to put on weight and it balances well with peanut butter...

If you're trying to lose weight you just need to watch your total caloric intake as well as the type of calories that you're taking in if you're trying a specific split diet.

Wheat can be a part of such a diet (however most likely will not) but it's not as if it's inherently a bad food...

be sure and get whole wheat bread and not ENRICHED wheat bread, as it is just white bread with wheat sprinkles.

Personally I find that eating food that has no calories works extremely well for weight loss. Examples include water, ice, sanity, etc etc.
