Hey /fit/, was wondering how you felt about parkour/free-running? Pic very related, as I myself want to be hardcore (but my mom won't let me :( )

OP here, I've done martial arts and gymnastics, have good flexiblity, but am worried about my speed and stamina, do I have a chance at becoming good at parkour?

Parkour is for getting out of sticky situations. Figures, the French invent an artform based on escaping a fight. If you plan on wanting to be able to seriously climb buildings and escape and shit, do this.

Free running is the same idea as parkour, but it's just for show. You just do a bunch of flips and tumbles and stuff and it just looks good. If you want to show off and you aren't going to need it, do this.

I'd recommend parkour. Be careful, though. You might end up breaking your neck.

I think its cool, but if you really think about it, without someone video taping it, you're just some retard climbing a wall, and running through parks without a shirt on; whose only source of attention is ones' self.

But if you've got an inner child to let out, have at it. It sounds fun.

I think the jumping skills are really useful

the stuff like how to get over/under/around railings and tables is really neat for moving quickly and efficiently around. The monkey jumps are something i wish i could really get under control because being able to clear a 7-8 long object at a job would be sweet.

there is this guy at my school who is a huge douche as far as i can tell since all he does is run up and down the walkway from teh dorms to campus doing ninja rolls and jumping out of trees. every once in a while he will climb onto this 8 foottall building and do handstand pushups on the edge. Kinda cool but he does it every day while wearing 2 arm bands, Sunglasses and one of those ipod arm things. Also i heard him invite a girl to go to Jama juice with him while he gets 'sustenance for my muscles'

Parkour is cool, if you have a few good spots to practice it. You need a shitload of stamina and you should practice gymnastics...

Its fucking awesome. Iv been practising for about a year now. I've gone from fat-ish fuck to slim and healthy. Its useful and will get you fit like crazy.
