So I finally decided to be proactive /fit/, and adopted the raw food diet. Before (meaning 5 days ago now), I used to have a diet heavy in meat and grain. While at 21, I was moderately overweight (or am rather). I'm 5'10", run 30 minutes a day, 3x a week, and weighed approximately 188 lbs.

However, I recognized the fact that if I continued down this road, I'd continue to raise my cholesterol and weight, until I died at 55 from a heart attack or obesity. I've lost 4 lbs thus far (I know, it will plateau out, and I'll most likely lose perhaps 4 more lbs by the end of the month, and slowly decrease from there).

However, it's not without sacrifice. I've got headaches all of the time now, and my overly large brother in law and sister, cook the fattiest, best smelling foods ALL THE TIME (chicken taco salad. I wanted to shove my bean sprouts down their fat gullets tonight, it was one of the hardest moments of self control I've had in a long time).

I've got the stank breaf pretty bad as well. I brush my teeth 5x a day now, but it returns after about 45 minutes. Also, I'm eating WAY more now. Since the vast majority are lower in calories though, my caloric intake has stayed pretty consistent as before at about 2,000 calories. Also, this diet is EXPENSIVE. Even with farmers markets around here, I find myself shopping EVERYDAY, and food prep takes a lot longer than ever before.

Not to even mention that my cognative thought process is severely impeded. I have troubles remembering why I went into another room, or the proper vocabulary to illiterate my meaning. I'm just hoping that the rumors are true, and these effects will lessen over the next two weeks, before I return for my last year in school.

oh, I forgot my underlying question; would it be against this "diet" to eat raw meats? I've been having SUPER cravings for meat, and I'll continue to avoid it for the first month at least (in fear that I'll go back to my old ways). Every book I've read on the subject adopts a very strict vegan outlook. I'm not an individual who thinks meat is wrong, or even unhealthy. '
would eating meats on occasion such as raw fish be detremental to what the diet is intended to do?

Nah, fish is really low in fat, high in protien, I would say try to get some fish or lean turkey, even a little lean skinless chicken in every day. You might even want to make and eat hard boiled eggs often, they're cheap and healthy.

It's easier to make little changes in your diet than to change it radically. It's often more effective too.
