Fuck me, /fit./

I noticed a tiny little spec on the side of one of my front teeth. It's a cavity. I usually take very good care of myself, dentally. Can I get a root canal or a frontal filling to fix this, or am I fucked? I'm so paranoid right now.

Wow.. seriously? Thank you guys so much. I know the typical 4chan user is a heartless bastard, but I'm a pretty compassionate and fearful dude.

Now that I know I'm not totally screwed, can someone explain how they do a frontal filling?

just like any other filling

well, i can elaborate i guess. the dentist will use that little sharp hook thing to scrape the rotted part out and then he'll fill it in with the filling shit.

Let me elaborate. I know they drill down into your tooth to expunge the cavity before filling it normally. But a front tooth is tiny. It's thin. Drilling into it would crack\pierce the entire thing, wouldn't it?

Alright, cool. So.. no drilling? Nice.

if it's just a tiny spec of a cavity they won't have to use a drill, they sometimes use those on deep/big ones

Haha, this actually has me interested in this shit now. I can't imagine a front tooth being drilled myself either.

You should notice that /fit/ is probably the nicest and most helpful board.

What's so odd about getting a front tooth filled? It's not like it'd be all that painful as long as the dentist isn't an idiot about aiming for your nerves, and the actual tooth probably wouldn't end up looking all that bad as long as you got it a plaster cap or whatever. I've had maybe a dozen different fillings and those that are more along my front teeth haven't really stood out since a couple months after the cap was put on.

They drill out the cavity and fill it in with one of those new tooth-colored fillings. Doesn't hurt, doesn't look bad.

In and out. Only down side is they're like $50 more because of the filling material having to match the tooth color rather than just being silver. So it'll be like $150 and 30 minutes of your time and you won't worry about it again.

Thanks guys. Going to schedule a dentist appointment soon. I looked closely, and I think I have about 3 more cavaties in my mouth. All of them require a magnifying glass to see, hopefully a dentist will treat them for me before they get worse.

I have two 'holes' in my teeth that a dentist looked at and said they were just imperfections or chips, not cavities. Nothing that needed immediate attention.

these plastic fillings are great.
They use a UV lamp to harden them.
Takes 3 mins and it's done.

Blue? That sounds pretty unhealthy. Mine is like a slight tint of yellow (OP here) infact.. it may not even be a cavity. But it's yellow and in a concentrated little hole.

It's the start of a cavity. Keep your mouth healthy and it should take a VERY long time to progress.

I allow plaque to form a protective layer on my teeth.

The white fillings are called composite. Just in case you wanted to ask your dentist about it.
