Sup /fit/, I have fairly bad acne. I read on here that zinc can help you fix it. Only problem is, the only thing my local drug store sold was pills in 50 mgs.

What I need to know is can I take one of these a day and not have negative health effects? Whats the max mg's of Zinc you should have a day?

zinc? I've never heard of that, how bad is your acne exactly? have you tried changing your sheets/pillow case every night, washing your face with soap in the morning and not touching your face at all, then washing it before you sleep? diet really has nothing to do with your acne cause I eat shit all day and my face is virtually clear

Not true, it's different for everyone. Once I changed my diet and started eating healthy my face immediately cleared up.

Its getting better because I'm now doing everything you mentioned, but it hasn't completely cleared up. I'm also going to start taking zinc and changing my diet, I just need to know how much to take.

Also, I'm 19, going on 20.

i'm 20 already and i still have it,whereas most of my friends who had serious acne problems a couple years ago have cleared up considerably

It depends on the person. I'm 20, but I have oily skin, so I still have acne. Not terribly, but still enough to be troublesome. My mother is 46, and she has the same problem.

get acne medicine instead of zinc
>> Moo !XBOXgikTFw
15mg/day is the recommended amount, but it won't kill you if you take a 500% dosis for a month or two.. I'd try pills and creme.

Zinc helps with regeneration and is slightly anti inflammatory.

I never had acne until I was in college and now I can't get rid of it. I think a lot of it is stress-related.

wash your face with a non-comodegenic face wash/soap and use 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide twice a day

It'll take awhile to clear up 1-2 months, but if you keep at it, the acne will stay away.

Zinc and everything else will just help you out temporarily, i.e. you will have to take it forever.

If you want to win against that shit for good, wiki/google for Accutane. It's a anti-acne treatment medication that helps like 80% of the time but can have quite a lot side-effects. It helped me greatly (no acne left, took it about 3 years ago).
In the end you have to ask yourself if you want to live with acne for 20 more years and apply shit to your skin and/or take shit against it or just get over with it in 6 months.

Truth.

I tried the zinc option, and it barely cleared up my acne.

at least for me, when I became a vegan all of my acne went away.. when i started eating dairy again 6 years later, the acne came back (but not as bad as it used to be)..

now that i'm a vegan again, no more acne!

This.

Also moisturize afterwards with a non-comodegenic moisturizer. Try skin will irritate easily, plus it can flake and clog pores. When you wash, rinse afterwards with cold water. This will help close your pores.

If that doesn't work, accutane. I did it twice and it's worth it.

It works. But Benzoyl peroxide isn't exactly non-aggressive. And then twice a day. And then for how long exactly? A week? A month? Years?
