K /fit/ my first post

i'm just shy of six feet tall, 165 lbs.
I'm training to become a firefighter (weighted push-ups, pull-ups, lunges, stairs, etc.)
My questions don't pertain to weighted vests, but I wanna start some boxing training, to help with ff training, and to learn something about boxing. Need to get cardio up, wanna build some upper body strength. Tips?

Get some gloves, a heavy bag, and a speed bag, and go Rocky on it. Always protect your hands (thick gloves w/ wrist support, hand wrap, etc.)
Even better, find a boxing gym or ask around martial arts places in your area. A lot of instructors will gladly share all sorts of "ancient training secrets" with you.

I've got most of the gear covered. I have a heavy bag, good gloves, I am able to wrap my wrists effectively. I'm looking into an instructor etc.

What can /fit/ say for upping cardio? I hear a lot about HIIT. Also, I need to improve upper body strength! I can do weighted dips like nothing, weighted pull ups, but I like CHESTICLES. Tips? I suck at bench--no form, fuckin horrible at it...
