Hello /fit/

I've been straying from you recently due to the fact that 6 months ago I moved and left my old gym. It has taken me this long to find a gym that I like and sign up. So I'm asking for your wonderful advice.

My goal is to lose weight, tone up again and get fit. Once I'm in my schedule, I'm dedicated so I don't have a lack of motivation. Before I moved, I worked out four/five times a week for an hour at a time, finishing each session off with a short swim.

However, I'm some what confused about the amount of time spent exercising. I heard somewhere that apparently working out for longer than 45 minutes is pointless. However, I've also heard that working out for an hour and a half is good.

So, would an hours work out and half an hours swim a day be a good idea or should I shorten my workout?

I appreciate your advice, /fit/.

Look's good.
What do you plan on eating? That's more important if your goal is trying to lose weight

The first time round, I ate a lot of chicken, rice, vegetables and fruit. I drank a lot of water too. I really enjoyed it too, changing how I flavoured the rice and so on, so it didn't get boring. Whenever I fancied something sweet, I'd have it and just spend some extra time at the gym. I'd never starve myself either.

But you know how it is when you move and work full time. You end up falling out of healthy eating habits. I really want to get back into it though.

I was just wondering if anybody here could recommend anything so I'm not going on my own blind faith. It's always nice to take advice from people who are doing the same thing/have done it already.

And although I would like to lose weight too, ultimately I'd like to tone as I lose, just so I don't end up all flabby still.

I felt really confident before I stopped going to the gym and even though I stopped working out, I didn't gain any weight and I'm sure I lost some just through everyday exercise like working, etc. However, because I've lost a lot of tone I don't feel as good as I did.

Sorry if it sounds uneducated. I'm not an expert on this. Hence why I'm asking for advice.
