/fit/, I have a question.

Some blood donation facilities ask you not to consume food or drink a certain amount of time before blood donation. I can understand why no food intake, it can throw off the readings, but wouldn't the donation go smoother if you consumed water? What is the reason for no fluid intake at all within that period of time?

I always thought you were supposed eat a good healthy meal before donating blood (1 pint), but not supposed to eat before having blood taken at the hospital, which is only one or two small vials

it depends on what the blood is for:
if its going to another human being you need to eat healthy and drink enough water.

if they are testing your blood for aids/diabeetus/cancer you have to stop eating the night before so it doesn't screw up their results
