Hey /fit/

I was stupid enough to do punching drills on the heavy bag continuously for a couple of days without wrapping my hands or wearing gloves and now they hurt like hell whenever I apply pressure to them. You guys think it's serious enough that I should go see a doctor or should I just wait it out and let it heal?

You'll be fine in a couple of days.

See a doctor. I'll be you the fat of a thousand anons that you don't know how to punch properly, let alone do proper drills on a bag. Either that or you seriously need to toughen up (I'm banking on the former)

hitting a bag repeatedly without any form or protection will fuck up the bones in your hand and wrist. I injured my wrist by hitting a heavy bag with just wraps and for 2 weeks I couldn't do anything and they've finally gotten back to normal 7 months.

Yep. Bruised fists, take it easy and they'll be fine.

I don't use gloves or wraps because the point of a heavy bag isn't the hit with force but to keep moving. At least that's what my trainer tells me.

Does he get you to do knuckle/fist strengthening exercises beforehand?

Knuckle push-ups, finger push-ups, weighted hand grips some forearm curls and reverse curls beforehand so yeah, somewhat.

Should be fine then. You'll get over it.

Not op though.

Massage your hands after every session. It'll get blood flow to your hands and help prevent athritis when you get older.

The bones in your hands are very thin and brittle, and doing hard punches without protection can snap them. A lot of small broken bones don't really show up as "broken" unless you do an x-ray, but they will heal fine if you don't move your hands about too much, cast or no cast.

Do an x-ray to be sure.

NO u CAN do that, u just needed to train ur fists properly first by hardening those bones, I don't need gloves anymore when punching my heavybag

The reason you don't need your gloves anymore is because your body braces itself for the heavybag. You can't "harden" bones any more than you can miraculously start growing at the age of 30.

I believe u can sir, from wut I've read trama from impact triggers ur bones to add more calcium deposits to make up for this lack there of

You'll get over it. It's part of making your bones stronger.

patently false. your bones are made of a matrix of calcium, imagine a latticework resembling a bunch of ladders. as you subject bones to high impact routines, you make tiny fractures in these ladders, they pretty much always regrow denser and thicker. but don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself.

"high impact training"
"bone density training"
etc.
