Hey /fit/ persons.

Can flat feet be cured/treated until cured? I'm 26 if it helps.

Visit a doctor and get some orthopedic shoes. That'll fix it.

Is there another way that won't cost me like $500/year?

If you're smart you'll come up with a way to make those shoes yourself for cheap.

I don't know anything about orthopedic shoes. Type into google "orthopedic shoes" and open the best pages on the topic in the first two google results pages. Read them all. Then type in "flat feet/flat foot" and open the best pages you see there in the two first pages of google results. Read them all. Wait 10 minutes. Then make a decision.

I had that too, but I just bought shoes one size too small and the problem fixed itself.

if you're as bad as I was then there's no other option but surgery. I had each foot done ajacent years, 14 and 15. Sure you'll be on crutches for 3 months but after you're out it's fuckawesome, you can walk!

The surgery goes something like this:
1. cut out v shaped chunk of bone
2. staple remaining bone together, forming an arch
3. lengthen achilles tendon by slight nicks in it. The tendon is shorter if you have flat feet.
4. put a screw in the outside part of your ankle to force a better arch.

of course, this is if you're having trouble walking when you're not anywhere near overweight, and older than 5 where orthotics won't fix your now older bone structure.
