sup /fit/,

I've been running for a long time; probably about six years now. My daily mileage is about as high as it's ever been, and I seem to have a problem; it's a really sore dull pain in my shins; it feels kind of like a bruise, on the inside of my shin bone.

I know shin splints are a pretty common ailment for runners; but I always assumed with the word 'splint' that those came with a sharper needle-like pain. The thing that makes me think it may not be shin splints is that I was doing cleans a few weeks ago, and I whanged a bar off my shin. It wasn't really hard, but I remember doing it.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone's ever had shin splints, and if it's more of a dull sore pain, or if it's a sharp pain; if it has any tell-tale signs, etc.

Thanks

Dull pain sounds like a stress fracture. Go to your doctor and get an x ray. Better safe than sorry.
