A new plan? Sam Indigo [||X|||]
Dear /fit/,
I never thought I'd post here. but two days ago I decided to change and so far have kept up.

I've eaten rather then 2 large meals to eat several small meals spread out, and enough enough to sate my hunger. When I get its wakeup, just after browsing for over an hour or going to bed I do a 15 minute workout, stuff I did in highschool kind of thing. I've also moved to Texas from chilly oregon, and I plan to use the heat to my advantage... Im 280 and Im going to work on getting healthier. I eat fairly healthy as is, its just I never exercized much until recently. [I dont like a lof of condoment, I eat sandwhiches and such, I rarely eat fast food, and I rare eat candies...too sweet] any thoughts how I can help myself out? I am sticking with my schedual so far and wont expect any results for months, I've spent years sitting on my ass and its time I made myself healthier.

Your thoughts?

OH MY GOD. WHY WOULD YOU MOVE AWAY FROM OREGON? IT'S FUCKING AWESOME HERE.

Yeah I loved Oregon. I'm not OP but I use to live in Portland then got moved done to AZ. I've lived in AZ for like 8 years but I still remember how win Oregon was. =(
>> Some minor details Sam Indigo [||X|||]
Oregon was alright, My land lady was kicking everyone out and my job didnt pay enough to getme a new flat, so I came home to my parents for a quick bit, getting a job and they are going to help me get a first house soon. anyways.. if you want details, Im 280 pounds, I am 71 inches tall, I know I am very obese and my body fat is mostly concentrated on my belly, my thight and lower legs are thick yet pretty built due to riding a bike for a month [buses cost too much...too bad I couldnt take my bike with me] my upper arms have little strength but GREAT dexterity, I used to staff and fire poi out there =D. got out of it and spent about ayear indoors all the time never going outside.
I used to be a CNA so I have some dietary and medical knowledge which are handy, suprisingly with a 42 inch belt size I can still bend down and touch my toes, WITH legs strait and toes curled away from my body. I dont really have a problem with my eating habits [1]

BUT WHY WOULD YOU MOVE AWAY FROM OREGON?!
>> Eating Habits Sam Indigo [||X|||]
I like sandwhiches, store bought food, baked goods, multi-grained foods. I RARELY eat food with condoments, i hate the taste of Mayonnaise [I call it lipo'd cow even though its egg yolk and mustard] I used to eat in two or three REALLY large meals [clean that plate up mentality] but now I am eating till I am sated and save the rest for a couple hours then finish it off [spaci out eating times] I eat a lot of fish and shrimp [shrimp especially] I dont like potatoes other then baked and mashed. Butter sours the taste of a good spud, I rarely eat chips, I drink sodas when I drink lots of kool aid over soda due to a pitcher of kool aid having about as much suger as a can of soda, I LOVE fruit, when I eat candy its usually Gummy, or a thin milk chocolate. however Im cutting those from my diet, they arent important and I dont really take the time to savor them anymore. I love salads, however a salad is only good DRY with carrots and spinach or witha homebaked cruton or two. I eat cheese in small amounts, I have a good taste in wine. I dont drink Beer. Rice and Noodles are alright, but a meal shouldnt be almost entirely that anymore, I eat steaks off and on. but I dont eat the fatty bits. [2]

I didnt have enough income to get a apartment, and my land lady decided to kick me out with only 30 days to find myself a new place, after a few HUGE flops and from a scammer I opted to go to my parents place.

Ok well your biggest problem is a statement in your original post. You said you don't expect to see any results for months. You are setting yourself up for failure right there. You need to fix your mental attitude or this is never going to work.

If you honestly are true about this then I recommend this (mind you, these are just general guidelines nothing specific really):
Eat 5-6 small macro-nutrient meals. Every meal make sure you include a serving of lean protein. These meals should not be over 400 calories.
Drink A LOT of water. My bet would be that you are chronically dehydrated and moving to Texas has amplified this. Drink AT LEAST 64 oz of water a day. To be honest you should drink well over a gallon.

3-5 times a week do cardio for 20-30 minutes. Do the breath test. If you aren't breathing hard, you aren't doing it right. If you breathing so hard that you can't even speak, you aren't doing it right.

And do a full body weight training routine 3 times a week.

If you do this, you will see WEEKLY results.

So do yourself a favor....

Would the drinking a gallon of water a day apply to people trying to gain weight?

To be honest, at his weight, you don't really need to do anything this specific. He's 280, I'm pretty sure, up to now, he's been consuming upwards to at least 6000-8000 calories a day.

Just by dieting he can lower is total calorie intake to a relatively small 1200-2000 calories a day.

His body will need to adjust to the significant loss and will start to shed pounds.

Sure, you can exercise, it'll speed things up 10x, but in my experience, dieting has been working just fine. for me. (Just walk a mile or two a day and you'll be fine. Then again, walking is exercise so... Fuck.)

No energy in water.

No calories = no weight gain.

Yes I understand, but would it apply to people increasing their calorie intake? I'm not asking if water is going to pack on the pounds. Anonymous you should have been able to understand that from my post. I'm disappointed in you.

I drink a 2-5 canteens/quarts of water a day. [I dont count it unles I finished it off]
I have no "monies" and I don't like gyms simply because people carry a bit of an attitude. I am stickign with the stuff I learned in highschool cause it can get my body in gear and Im not too taxed. getting a job right now is my top priority since it means an income, which means I can buy some light weights, a new bike and otherwise get myself a new home, I wasn't sure if i needed to worry about calorie counting, and I'll get some PVC and do staffing again so I can get my heart rate up daily. I dont really care about loosing fat as I do being able to feel better about myself as well as not feel knackered after running 40 feet. I dont mind stairs too much but running winds me badly for some reason. weekly results do sound very appealing.

thats a lot of food even for me to eat.
I sit on my ass alot which is where my problem comes from I believe

>>276480
... you want to gain weight? Do nothing....absolutely nothing....sit on your ass a lot and learn stuff on a computer.... rarely go outside... your metabolism will go down in time, it takes a while, as it would to get it back...

my understanding of calories, I see it as raw energy. you sit on your ass your not using that energy. your body likes to store what it doesnt use right away. I don't have any goals for my body weight as I just want ot be healthier, I don't care about dress sizes and what not. However skinny folks clothing isnt that expensive and costs less to make at home.

sorry posted too soon and ment to end my tangent. anyways
if you exercise heavily and have little input, your body snaps into save it all mode and feeds on the fats AND muscle tissue, however sinc im only spreading my normal intake through out the day and taking in a little less I am attempting to have my body burn the extras it needs and save little.

I'm 25 years old and I dont want any serious health problems. only rich people can afford to be fat in all reality.

Telling people to sit on their ass on /fit/ is tantamount to blasphemy. That is NOT how someone is supposed to gain weight. Lurk more.

its my first day on this area :P Usually I lurk /k/.

I'm not a dietition nor a doctor, so dont listen to me on how to gain weight. I was a CNA< Just know how to take care of other people, move them around without hurting them and have a bit more then your high school anatomy class for education... not much to things for that and is a relatively easy job to get.
