Just graduated college, and I'm applying for English teaching jobs in Japan. Right now I'd consider myself fairly fit at 5'11.5, 184lbs, approx 10-11.5% bf (estimated from cheap impedance test). I follow various powerlifting oriented lifting routines and I've made good gains. However there is a great room for improvement..What I'm concerned about is moving to Japan for teaching, where I'll possibly be placed in a rural area with little or no gym access. I'm concerned that I won't be able to make any gains or even keep what I have now.I'm also concerned about diet, I do fairly well here in America, where I have easy access to high protein foods. But with Japan's rice-heavy diet, I'm not sure how to keep up with my protein needs.Does anyone have any experience with being in a similar situation? I've looked into various bodyweight training techniques, but I'm not sure that it will be enough. Any recommendations on what or how to eat? (modifying diet to lower protein?) Is there anything I can do in the months before I leave to give myself a head start for adjusting? (maybe I could bulk up as much as possible before I leave and try a slow cutting routine over the following year?)My strength/fitness are among my biggest concerns.. working out keeps me sane. I need your help /fit/.
you will be able to eat all the fish and tofu and natto you want (in b4 soy will turn you into a woman), also there may be weights in local high school or gym, or you could find an old farmer who needs help or something.or just do BW exercies - you could do a lot worse than learning handstand pushups, my friend....
also you are a weeabo who likes to suck other mens' cocks
MOTHERFUCKER --Dips and pullups solve a lot of ails. Legs will be more of a problem for some decent resistance...so maybe find some of those fine japanese mountains and climb them. A lot.
Gyms are FUCKexpensive in Japan. Luckily, you will be waking or biking pretty much fucking everywhere. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.
lawl, OP you're not looking at working for NOVA, are you?
Fish, motherfucker. But be prepared to pay out of your ass for a real steak, they're expensive enough, plus the USD is pretty shitty right now.
>>98925OP here..No, I'm not thinking of NOVA, I hear they're the worst - I might try Aeon, GEOS, Interac, or whatever else I can find.
>I'm not sure how to keep up with my protein needsUm, about half of what Japanese people consume comes from tofu
>>98845what are you smoking crack thats where all the great martial arts masters live - rural japan - you can learn 1337 dragon ball z skills and pwn like goku you should be more worried about all the fun and nifty adventures your gonna have
I live in Japan, prepare to eat fish forever
>>99546>PREPARE TO BECOME SUPERIOR*fixed
look in to japans love of bukake for a good source of free, easily digestible protein.
