Is it a callous forming? Is it excess skin peel?

Though I would recommend going to a clinic regardless, a modern sort of folk remedy is to cover the area with a patch of duct tape. This works in two ways:
1, it seals off the area, preventing it from spreading elsewhere via dermal contact.
2, this seal exposes the fungus to the somewhat ill-tempered chemicals in duct tape adhesive, which, when combined with the fact that your body is probably (and hopefully) trying to fight the infection, means that the fungus is getting attacked on all sides.

you have athletes foot. buy a spray or powder from the pharmacy. its not expensive, and doesn't involve duct taping your foot. wtf.

vicks vapor rub would do the trick. Rub some on when you wake up and before you go to sleep and it should start clearing it up.

It's an ingrown toenail, I had them myself for a long time on both big toes. My remedy was actually having surgery on both to fix them and it cant happen anymore. If you keep getting them go to a doctor and talk about surgery.

As for an immediate remedy, I truthfully suggest pushing on it until the pus comes out and drain it, then soak it in an oatmeal bath, or oatmeal bath first, then pop it and soak it a bit more. Easy to fix, annoying to have.
