I've been doing regular exercies to quit smoking for the past two months, and it's been working out so so, I've managed to say no to smokes when I'm sober, but as soon as I have a beer or two I need a smoke. Also, being the time for finals, I've nearly given up on my non smoking campaign. My nerves are at an end and I smoked a pack, buming smokes from people, in the past two weeks. I've gotten really nervous, as "withdrawl" symptoms return. Any tips on how to actually quit smoking, for good, even when drunk and in high stress times? Willpower alone can only do a limited ammount, also I'm pretty much surrounded by smokers all day.

Pic related. I'm 6ft, and I have 154 lbs. I'm a skinny pale geek and this pic is some sort of hope that perhaps I do have some sort of muscles showing.

Thanks.

I guess no ex-smokers round here eh?

Well does anybody have any expirence with nicotine patches?

Use snus or other nicotine products, get some sort of a stress toy or come up with something on your own, try to step back from the people that are smoking and stay as far away as possible. Also I have the same problem with alcohol and smoking, I'm still figuring that one out, but it sure helps when none of your friends around you are smoking when drinking.

Yeah yeah, I'm weak, I wouldn't be looking for help otherwise, would I?

Judging by your post, you should stop drinking, and your smoking will cure itself. ;)

The Patch works pretty good for me when I quit...(I go through smoking cycles...I'll smoke for a few months, quit for a longer time, etc.) I don't really think about smoking when on it. Unfortunately it's kind of expensive compared to smoking half a pack a day. Also if you go to sleep with one on you'll have crazy ass realistic dreams, that's a cool side effect.

I have the same problem on going for almost 2 years now. After a heavy nonstop drinking session that went on for 4 days I'm actually scared to drink now, and have been without a beer for a good week. If you don't want to smoke, then don't drink it's simple as that. As for your nerves racking up during finals, how about drinking tea instead of inhaling nicotine. Caffeine is a stimulant similar to nicotine.

Nicotine patches are absolute shit. They don't even stick to you properly.

Wait til finals are over, then quit smoking.

When break starts, quit drinking, then you won't have to smoke.

willpower. it is hard but you can do it. don't think of yourself as an addict or a victim.
