Sup /fit/,Over the past few months, I've lost over 50 pounds (I started around 265 now I'm at 212... I'm about 5'7"-5'8"). I'm really proud of myself, but I'm still overweight and looking to lose more. However that's not the point of this thread. I set a long-term goal for myself: finishing a full marathon. Hell, I'd try for the NYC marathon if I could manage to get in (I hear it's not easy to get in these days). The thing is, I haven't run at all to lose any of the weight. I need to start running so I can train for this marathon that I want to be able to run within a few years. Do you think I'm too heavy to start running yet? I hear you can damage your knees if you're too heavy and try running. I think I can manage at the very least a half mile for now, but I'll see. I need some advice, /fit/!
what did you do instead of running?
advice: good shoes and proper technique. If you must run, I'd educate myself on how to avoid knee damage. Get some literature and or advice from someone who knows.Shoes only last a few hundred miles, make sure you check this.
