not necessarily unhealthy if you train different muscles each day.
Rest is important, don't overtrain.

Yeah that's what I do, although I'll often work out the same parts twice in a row.

If a certain part of me hurts when I try (and not just feeling 'the burn'), I stop and move on to something else.

that depends on your diet. visible abs are 90% diet. you need bodyfat of around 13% or lower.
