Fuck you, Gold's. When I asked for a two year membership, I expected a two year membership, not two years plus two extra months on top of that because I apparently "never read the fine print carefully enough and should have come down in person to cancel my membership". Thanks for never giving me a copy of my contract to mull over at home either, else I WOULD have come down once my membership had expired so I could cancel it AGAIN, FOR REAL THIS TIME (how. fucking. REDUNDANT.).

Sincerely,

RAAAAAAAAAGE.

your first problem was going to gold's gym, shithole that place is

Gold's gym is a horrible, horrible place. I used to work there years ago, but I only lasted a few months because it was such a hostile environment, both to employees and customers. We were instructed to use high pressure sales tactics to pressure a person into signing a contract, to take shots at their bodies and self-esteem, and sometimes to outright lie about how much it would cost and how to cancel a contract if desired.

WHY WOULD YOU GO TO GOLD\'S GYM? WHY?!

Seriously that place is terrible.

I got to Gold's and have had no problems.

What is a good gym to go to then?

I know, fuck. I really wish someone would have warned me beforehand. It was the convenience factor that appealed to me (their gym was a block away from my home, and it had just been built so it wasn't terribly busy compared to the local university gym, which also charged a monthly fee).

Fuck, so I assume there's no way I can get my $60 back huh? My sales rep was a sneaky bastard...he talked his way around having to bring up the activation fee, and once I signed the contract, the first words out of his mouth were "so that'll be $200somethingortheother to activate your membership".

Usually franchise gyms are horrible. Don't know a decent one in the USA and Canada.
Best places to go are universities or community gyms, if you want a really good experience, find a hardcore gym, but they are usually in places were I would get shot :/

Where I worked, at least, "activation fees" or "joining fees" were the height of deception. The only point of such a fee was to scare you at the beginning, so that when we offered to drop it, you would think, "Oh, I'm getting an insider deal!"

Your mileage may vary. Best of luck getting anything out of them. The most direct thing you might be able to do is put a hold on any charges from Gold's to your checking/credit account. Placing the hold might cost you a bank fee ($20 at my bank) but it might be worth it just to piss off those crooks at Golds.
