Ok /fit/ I've lost about 75-85 pounds in the past year or so and want to drop another 30-50.
I do a good amount of lifting (can't do squatz sadly) along with a few hundred sit ups and push ups throughout the day with a set of burpees here and there but I've hit a plateau. I cannot for the life of me lose any more weight, my metabolism has just come to a screeching halt.

I'm 5'11" and 190, what can I do to help kick my ass over this hill?

I can't do much more cardio at the moment because of the area I live in but I am getting a treadmill in the very near future, could running be enough to fix this?

>because of the area I live in

You live in fucking compton or something where you'll gett shot if you go running?

No the area around my house is nothing but hilly woods, it's near impossible to run through here.

Anyone with real advice on getting over this hump? I really want to get back to losing weight again.

Only have a regular bench set up at my house with the bench attached to the part that holds the bar so there is no physical way to get the bar on my shoulders.

EAT LESS.

Be aware, this will only work if you actually EAT LESS.

I have been, today all I ate is a small salad with very little light italian dressing, a banana, a half of a filet of grilled salmon and about a cup or so of pasta with a light spaghetti sauce.

I've been eating like this for a little over a week since I noticed the lack of progress.

Good, just keep doing it. Continue strength training to avoid muscle wastage and you should be ok.

So it will eventually just work itself out?

If you lose 30-50 more pounds youll die. as for squats just dont do heavy weights. If you cant lift 150lbs over your head and put it on your shoulders you should work on it till you can. Dont go for reps, go for time itll almost completely replace running for cardio and strength.

Yeah, just takes a while.

do more cardio. run for half hour to an hour a day and stay semi active all day. the more you run the more lean you get. and don't eat too much

I'm pretty sure I could survive at 140-160 but thank you, it seems like constructive advice is really lacking around here lately.

Until I get a treadmill this is an impossibility, if I could go running I would, I don't think I'm quite ready for the Rocky 4(?) style of running through the woods while working out.
>> Anonymous
Well if you are working out losing to that weight will be very difficult.Youd do better to gain more muscle so that you look good at your current weight.

if you cant run, honestly, then you should work on calisthenics, jumping jacks, jump rope, squats(no weight, just stand up, get down and do a push up, get back up and reapeat, with a reasonable quickness). if you can do that sort of shit for like half an hour before working out with weights, you'll be set

Thanks I'll start jumping jacks, it's one of those simple things I guess I overlooked, and I'll go buy a jump rope next chance I get.

after a couple weeks of minor cardio in your home, consider pulling some rocky shit for half an hour a day. run through dem hilly woods. it'll be good for you

Thanks for the response guys I'll stick to my eating/work out with some extra cardio thrown in and hopefully that'll re-kickstart my metabolism... or whatever is wrong and get me back on track.

NO SQUATZ?
NO EXCUSES!

I myself have no power rack or anything to support the bar for backsquats. So you know what you do?

You man the fuck up, clean that shit onto your shoulders, catch your breath and SQUAT.
I've been doing so now for 2 weeks religiously. It's hard work, but I've seen some massive gains from it in such a small amount of time.

GET SQUATTIN', NIGGER!

do SQUATZ for the mussels and drink the vitamin water after CURLZ.

wait... someone actually took advice from us and it worked? i didnt think anyone ever took advice from /fit/

but yeah keep doing those squats and youll be happy

It's not a bad idea, but once you get to using heavier weight, it'll give way over your shoulders.
Power clean it onto your front shoulders and go that way. Harder than a normal squat too.

Good advice and finding someone who actually knows what the fuck they're on about is a massive rarity on this board.

One thing I would recommend, in addition to those jumping jacks, is some shadow boxing.

Make it high intensity though, bob and weave in between punches and don't stand still (lung back and forth, ect.). Also when punching with one hand, always guard with the other hand, don’t just let it go limp. Throw in some front, side and back kicks, ect. Just make sure to keep the amount of moves from the left and right equal. Do it for an hour or so and you’ll be spent.

Sure you look like an idiot doing it, but it works great.

Thanks I'll try that tomorrow, my legs are fucking trashed from those squats

Wooded hills? Run up and down them. Interval training at its best. I live in the country, so I know those hills aren't all covered with picker bushes. You can find one clear or lightly-wooded slope and just work it like a motherfucker.
