I'm going to be taking up an exercise routine for the first time in my life, at the moment I'm moving house, but once I'm sorted I plan on doing 3x cardio (HIIT - cycling and then later on running) and 3x weight lifting, using only dumbells (my current aim is to lose weight). Anyway, with my dumbells I got a poster which detailed some of the exercises they can be used for, many of them included/required the use of a dumbell bench as shown in the pic. I think it's one that's commonly distributed (by York) as I've seen it before so perhaps many of you know what I'm talking about.

My question is, should I get myself a dumbbell bench? They are pretty cheap and I was thinking of picking one up. Anything bigger is out of the question though.

Thanks in advance.

Argos right?

I was looking at that same model as well...it's important to have an adjustable bench like this one, as the angle shown is good for building chest muscles.

yeah how am i supposed to train the largest and most important muscle, the biceps?

You can set the bench at 60 degrees and get a wicked pump with some dumbbell preacher curlz

but thats only one angle! we need to blast the biceps from all angles too keep them guessing!

Natch. Also, try to use a spotter to help you squeeze out a couple more partial reps. You will get the best pump that way. And try not to go heavier than 35 lbs. All you do that way is build strength. You ass almost no mass at all.

but i really want to get that peak and shape them.

i should stick to low weights and high rep then right?

Read this:

It has great weight training suggestions, diet and cardio.. trust me.

If you're a lazy fucker, make sure you do some form of cardio everyday to burn fat/calories (in the morning after you wake up is best, fasted cardio doesn't have to make you burn through glycogens, goes straight to fat), and do a lifting program to burn more fat/calories (indirectly, fat burning occurs after the workout throughout the day)... also, eat 6 small meals a day, eat lean protein with each meal, drink tonnes of water and cut your caloric intake by 500-1000 a day.

I've had one yes, and one "general uselessness".

Thanks for the extra info some of you have given though, and I've downloaded that book and will look through it soon.

One last bump for opinions on buying this bench or not.

For Christ's sake, if you're gonna get a bench, get one with a barbell rack. So you can exercise properly.
