So I'm in my cutting phase after bulking to 190. I'm 6'0" for reference.

Should I continue my weight training while cutting fat? I can see it going one of two ways:
1) Continuing work with free weights while cutting is a good thing, since it'll keep my muscles from totally deteriorating. It'll also help increase metabolism, leading to greater fat loss, and it'll overall help burn more fat than muscle in the cutting stage.
2) Weight training while cutting is a bad idea because you're in a calorie deficit. You break down your muscles lifting, but you're not eating enough to build them back up, so overall you're just destroying your muscles faster than you otherwise would.

Which is correct, /fit/?

Pic mildly relating, as it shows someone cutting, in a different sense of the word.

I would keep lifting, so you maintain your strength.

As long as you keep your protein intake high, weight training while cutting is perfectly fine.

This guy is correct. Even when cutting you would want to eat at the very least 1g of protein per body weight daily. 1.5g-2g would be optimal though.

What if I can't keep my protein high? I'm on break at my parent's place for the next couple weeks. I have my weights, but I can't eat my usual high-protein diet. They don't eat much, so when I visit them I usually don't eat much.

Long story short... if I'm not eating high-protein, is weight training while cutting still a bad idea?
