HIIT Cardio/Weight Loss Advice? Anonymous
Hey /fit/

I'm 22, 5'10" and 220 lbs (last time I checked which was Wednesday). I've been going to the gym for the past month and a half, 5 days a week (I was 252lbs before I started) and lost 32 pounds. When I started I was only doing 2 miles of running at 5mph. Currently I'm running 4 miles at 7mph with a 6% incline.

My eating habits have completely changed. I pretty much only drink water, I have a 500ml protein shake after I run then 3 hours later I have breakfast, at noon I eat some fruit, 3 or 4 hours later I have another piece of fruit and in the evening I try to keep dinner light (just had grilled fish with a side of corn; George Foreman grilled mind you!).

Anyhow, what I'm getting to is that I want to try some HIIT Cardio instead of this ET Cardio. Granted I have results but.. I am a little bit worried. Do you guys think I dropped a lot of weight too fast? Is that normal? I really want to see what kind of results I get with HIIT but I don't know how often I should do it. 1 or 2 weeks? Replace my current cardio with it (I only do cardio, some dips and leg lifts)? I'm also thinking about adding 100 push-ups and 200 crunches before I go to sleep at night. Halp?

These are all viable options brah. I would cycle your cardio just like workout routines to get the best results. Go ahead and do HIIT for 2-4 weeks if it fits the groove, if it doesn't then just revert back. That kind of weightloss isn't unusual for devoted individuals. Not sure about skin being flabby as a result of any more rapid weight loss but there are some articles somewhere on the interbutts for that. I am not saying that is going to happen, I don't know your frame and how overweight you were.

32 pounds on 4 weeks is really a lot, that's 8 pounds per week. I guess you are also losing muscle along with fat. How much calories are you eating? The fruit and the protein shake don't add very much.

OP here; I haven't seen any skin flab at all. I do see a significant reduction in my gut and my thighs are muscling up. So are my calves. I used to be 252 before I started going to the gym. I go about an hour before work and at work, I'm pretty much moving, lifting steel and standing for 10 1/2 hours; keeping active, you know?

Wasn't 4 weeks.. more like 6. I try to weigh myself every Saturday so I don't get obsessed with the scale too much. That's why I want to try HIIT to keep from losing muscle. I know I'm not eating 2,000 calories then again I'm not sure how many I should be eating. I don't feel a loss of energy or anything, though. If anything, I feel great and my lung capacity has really strengthened, too. Thanks for your replies.
