Trying to lose weight, Don't RAAAAAAAAGGGGGEEEE! yet... Anonymous
I have been trying to lose a little weight for a while now, more or less trying to get myself not skinnyfat.

I was reading on a local muscle suppliment site (www.maxs.com.au) that the only way to really lose weight is to Consume 30g of carbs a day.

Everyday I have 2 bowls of oats (one for breakfast, one for lunch) and at DInner I consume a fuckton of Veggies, with Some Meatless sausages.

Based on this diet, am I ever gonna lose weight, considering I mostlikley consume a load of carbs?

I have cricket training 1once a week, with some good cardio in there
I do Stronglift's 5x5 3 times a week
I bike ride 2 miles to campus everyday
I usually go for another mile walk of a nighttime
I do a 2 mile jog at a moderate intensity on the days I don't lift.


I have thought about throwing some swimming in there, but its really hard to get it in there.

How do I count the carbs/calories from veggies? I mean, I have nothing startchy like corm or potatoes, so what do I do for that?

I add a mix of soy/whey protien to my Oats, so I get some protien there
The Meatless Sausages have protien and good fats in them.

i dont understand the point of a specific amount of carbs? Do you eat nothing BUT 30g carbs a day, what amount of fat and protein do you eat? You're gonna lose muscle mass otherwise I think....

Calculate your daily amount of calories that you need, how much food that is, and then aim to eat about 200-300 calories less

eat some meat.i don't think you're getting enough protein (which is vital.)

eat some bad fat. you don't want your body to get used to eating a shit diet. going back to "normal" food will fuck you over.

I didn't want to mention this at the risk of RAAAAAGEEE! but I am A vego, bordering Vegan. So Meat isn't really an option.

I Get about 80 grams of protien, maybe 20g of good and bad fats (as a total) and I have no idea of carbs.

I'm guessing 60 from breakfast and lunch, I have no idea about the veggies and fruits, so It may very well border 100g

I have no idea how I am just gonna cut out 70-80g of carbs like that, while still mantaining muscle.

The 30g of carbs is similar to the requirement to kickstart ketosis - which is the basis for weight loss for Atkins and other low carb diets.

You eat ultra low carbs per day, then your body has none of the glycogen (I think?) stored, so in theory you are just burning what is in your gut or fat stores.

I did Atkins, and the carbs from fiber do not count towards the daily total of carb allowance. Sugars, alcohols (like diabetic sweetener), a few others I can't remember.

Run a thread about low carbing, and see if it is for you. For most people, it is not. It is hard as hell to do anything while on lowcarb, since you have no ready energy for anything.

I tried to install tow different chin up bars, but neither worked (both were the rotate-to-extend variety). I followed the instructions rpecisely, so I guess the doorways in my house are'nt rigid enough to support the weight.

Any alternatives?
