Heart Health Anonymous
hi /fit/.

I have recently taken up running and other kinds of activities after being pretty inactive.
mMy heart and chest have been feeling kind of funny and sometimes i just feel slightly out of breath...

Is this normal and part of the training process?
Should i be seeing a doctor?

If you're really worried go see a doctor

But it makes sense if your body feels funny after doing something that it's not used to

You probably just pushed yourself a little harder than you should have after all your inactivity. You should ease your way into a new exercise routine. I know it's hard to do because it feels like you're slacking off, but just try to take baby steps at first. Once you're in better condition you can really begin to work out.

I recommend you just cut back to a brisk walk for 30+ minutes each day. After a week or two, try jogging and such.

OP here

'funny' just means that im more aware of the area... its sort of like i've never really though about my heart but now i can feel it there. unfortunately there is no good way to describe it.... pressure would probably be the best word i could use.

Thats normal. I can actually hear/feel my heart beat after a decent amount of running. Actually, its almost relieving after you get used to it, you feel alive almost.

If it bothers you see a doctor. They will probably just run you through a stress test on a treadmill. It could be something as simple as you pushed your self to hard or something mild like exercise induced asthma.

I've been working out for about a year now after inactivity, and I personally have found that I'm fine with anything, except actual running. I feel pretty similar to the OP.

I can do pretty good on anything else, but I think it's the impact factor or something, cause I get running (treadmill or outside) and my body is just like 'dude. no.'

Are you a bigger (taller) guy OP? I am and I think that might be it.
