Hey /fit/

So, I've been reading here about HIIT, and I'm interested in trying it out. But I don't know how.
I've been running some for a few weeks and I'm enjoying it, but it's not as much for the work out as for the scenic break from daily stress.

So, how would a good standard HIIT program look like? I've got access to a normally equipped gym, with treadmills, bicycles and rowing machines.

Go on the treadmill. Sprint for 30 seconds, run for 1 minute. Repeat.

It's a very simple workout and it takes 20 minutes max.

I think the easiest would probably just be to run normally. HIIT only means that you'll be alternating between training hard and training medium. Download the MP3 from the HIITsource website and run like hell when it says "high intensity", then go back to jogging when it says "low intensity". Remember to warm up and cool down.

If treadmills are bad, is it because of running or because of the general suckage of the treadmill? I mean, I have a running course (that kind sprinters run on) just outside my window, would that be better?

Yes, it's best to do HIIT outdoors, but you CAN do it on a treadmill if you want to make use of your gym.

Read the article. The summary is basically that treadmills can't slow down or speed up fast enough to do effective HIIT. If a treadmill could it would probably throw you into the wall behind you. Better to just control your own speed on a normal track.
