I have been lurking for awhile and you have good advice. I am trying to get into better shape. I'm 6ft and 215 when I last weighed myself two weeks ago. for the last two weeks I've been doing more weights and cardio in my routines and working out 5-6 times a week instead of 3 times a week.

I have also been playing tennis outside in the hot sun with lots of sunscreen and water.

I would like fit's advice on what I can do to maximize my fat loss and muscle build.

I have been doing 6-7 miles of jogging/walking every other day. other days I do an hour on the eliptical then job for a mile and a half. I do play tennis 3-4 times a week as well.

Should I be doing more cardio? and if so what kind of cardio should i do?

oh..and I'm not looking to bulk up as much and look more toned and loosing my beer gut which is decreasing with lower ab work.

here's a lame way to explain..
Say carbs are trains, and the more complex the carb the longer the trains are, now your enzymes are.. Indians with giant scissorz that has to cut the trains down to a single train cart which your body can use, so the longer the trains are the more time your indians need to cut the trains thus slowly releasing energy throughout the day

I go the whole wheat route with my bread..I need to get some brown rice.

How's quinoa? I eat that usually once a week intead of rice when I make mexican chicken.

hmmm i suggest you keep track of your cardio through time compared to distance. cardio should be limited to 45 minutes at the most IMO or else your body will chew through your muscle. though depending on whether you wanna cut fat or gain muscle will determine your exercise routines in general.

Types of cardio don't really matter as long as you are burning the calories and working up a sweat. Though its recommended to switch it up a bit to provide some "shock" to your body. Like jog one day, swim the other, and go rowing the next.

I'm going for a skinny look that I had 3 years ago. which is why I'm doing so much cardio. I do alot of weights though becuase weights and cardio keeps your metabolism up and you look more toned when you do weights.

Are lunges good for losing diameter on my thighs?

No such thing as spot reduction. Your legs will get bigger because the muscle will push from under the fat. On a side note, lunges affect different parts of the legs depending on how big of a "Step" you take.

spot reduction is IMPOSSIBLE. burn this into your brain. lunges are alright but no exercise can compare to SQUATZ. They are seriously one of the most beneficial exercises ever.

I can't do squatz because I hurt my lower back a few months back.

however, I do want my sex lines back so I do alot of lower ab work. I know that you can't just spot

Increase cardio. And the weights wont hurt. More muscle = more calories burned.

I lost about 20 lbs. I lost my double chin but my face stil looks pudgy..if I do more cardio will my face get thinner?

Probably, also depends on your genetics... Some people just hold onto fat differently from others.

Try 4 on/2 off.

Give your muscles some time to heal, they'll thank you.
