Whenever I go to the gym, I see people doing their tricep extensions as depicted on the left side of my little pic -- tiny range of motion and a really quick tempo. I see a lot of people doing the same thing with their curls, too.

I'd RAGE at it, but I see it so fucking often that there's got to be some methodology behind it. Anybody have any ideas?

Same shit as halfway curls and halfway bench presses, more extension will work your muscle more.. it's alright if you're on your last reps and you have to cheat to get them done, but otherwise it's stupid as fuck

starting with your elbow flexed at approx 90 deg decreases the moment arm of the weight, so you can produce more force in contraction
