He's a rich actor with the best personal trainers and nutritionists. That's how. Plus, it's easy to stay motivated when your entire reason for losing or gaining weight is based around a massive multi-million dollar paycheck for starring in a movie.

But I guess the simple answer is that he ate more and lifted more weights.

exactly, most people have lives (not necessarily 4channers, but still) and can't hire nutritionists personal chefs pro bodybuilders and trainers to get us in perfect condition and dedicate every single minute of the day to our bodies. If all i had to do in life was prepare for a role I'd be in ridiculous shape

Most of the weight he gained back was muscle he already had. Have none of you heard of muscle memory? When muscle that you've gained once atrophies, it's supposedly much easier to gain it back the second time around because your body remembers having had it before.

Kind of like how you never forget how to ride a bike.

I didn't hear it like that. But it's true that atrophied muscles gain back their original size quickly.

that's not what "muscle memory" is

muscle memory is, like, learning to squat. doing an awkward motion enough times until it becomes natural.
