/fit/, what gives?

Last year, I was a 250lb lardo who would huff and puff and feel at death's door if I even walked on the stairmaster for 20 minutes. I dropped a ton of weight, got lazy, and gained it all back again.

Now I'm a 230lb lardo, but I can do 60 minutes on a high-resistance elliptical without breaking much of a sweat, let alone feeling that great burst of endorphins (or whatever) that I frequently felt when I was "pushing" myself to even do half an hour of cardio.

Why am I not getting the same high from doing a much more vigorous workout than I used to, even though my body's in almost as shitty shape as it was before?

I have the same problem, sort of. I'm not in shape, but I'm not xbox hueg fat.

When I hop on an elliptical or treadmill my heartrate skyrockets to 180+ which is out of proper cardio range, yet i'll barely be breaking a sweat

welcome to acclimation. your body is used to the work it's being asked to do. you've "plateau-ed".

change your workout every couple of weeks. do high intensity interval training (hiit) for a week. do a short time, high speed work out. try different machines (stairs, rowing ergometers, etc.).

but vary it. if weekly changes work for you, do it. but by keeping your body "guessing", it can't become acclimated to one routine.

good luck.
