L-Carnitine Anonymous
sup /fit/

I've been working out for about 3 years now, and I went through a lot of new workoutplans, but still there's something that bothers me: I never had a sixpack. That's not really a problem because I work out to gain strength, not to look awesomely ripped, but anyways. Since I tried a lot of exercises for my abs, I was wondering how else I could get a sixpack. I'm far from being overweight or fat (170cm, 68 kg; that's about 5.5" and 151lbs). Since I saw all my other muscles grow over the time, my belly hasn't. The problem is, that I don't really eat the right things (McDonald's once a week, kebap about once a wek, pizza about once a week and stuff like that), but I also don't want to abstain completely from fastfood.
Soearlier this month I read an article about L-Carnitine. It is said to burn fat very well, although some scientists disagree with that.
What I want to ask you is, if anyone of you has ever tried L-Carnitine and saw results? Are there any bad adverse reactions? Is it worth the money?

Btw I'm german, so don't bother telling me if I made mistakes concerning my grammar.
pic unrelated, but in all likelihood the manliest benchpress on earth

Here again. If your diet isn't in order don't even think about supplements to help you burn fat. A sound diet is SO much more important for fat loss than any supplement, and if you don't have one the major aspects right it's kind of stupid to nitpick about the very minor details (supplements). There is no magic pill.

If you probrably have a six pack. Everyone has one.. But a layer of fat sit's over your stumoch you need to get rid of that.. So it isnt a case of excercise.. Just diet.

Your diet is crap. Focus on that first before even thinking about supplementation. And then add in some form of cardio.

OP here: First of all I want to thank you for your good and quick delivered advides. To the thing with the diet: I know 2 people who are in the same sportsclass as I am, and I know they have visible Sixpacks AND eat fastfood, they don't have any strict diet at all afaik. So should I completely cut out fastfood or is it okay as long as I eat healthy the rest of the day (like 2-3 "unhealthy" days with some fastfood and the rest of my servings healthy) ?
My main fear is to lose weight if I eat less meat, because I'm not skinny but not very "heavy" either, and I do Ju-Jutsu, so I want to stay strong and lose as few weight as possible.

Btw, I work out 3-4 times a week for about 2 hours per workout unit, I go for a jog 1-2 times a week and sometimes I go swimming instead of jogging. I also go skating (with a skateboard, not long distances with rollerblades) and I go to Ju-Jutsu classes 2 times a week.

If you really want to cut, focus on eliminating extraneous carbs. For example, you can eat the burger at McDonalds, but don't get any fries or soda. When eating at the kabob place, don't eat the bread, but have the rice/beans and meat. And with pizza, just choose something else.

With your workouts, they seem fine. But what I would do is to replace the jogging with some more intense cardio. For example, instead of jogging slowly for three miles, run 1 mile fast. Or you can do sprints, whatever floats your boat.

OP here: The thing with cutting out extraneous carbs sounds good, I somehow never mind my amount of carbs as long as I get enough protein. But the thing with jogging bothers me a bit, because I really enjoy long runs through the forest. But I'll try to just start running faster as long as I can, thanks for your advice!

dont think ive done a sit up or crunch in the past 2 years and i have a sixpack.

i cycle and run and go to the gym to lift weights, a lot of weight lifting excersizes in the gym use your abs as a secondary or stabiliser muscle (press ups, some excersize involving triceps, SQUATZ)

to make it quicker, just do 30 sit ups or 15 crunches a night, or more if you want to.
shouldnt take long befor eyou see results.

my diet is also crap.
