What are your thoughts on drumming as exercise?

I'm not saying really easy drumming where you barely see the person moving. I mean really fast drumming-Blast beats, using the whole set, all the symbols, etc.

I've been trying to do different HIIT exercises but I just fucking HATE it. However, I love to drum. I know it's probably not as effective as HIIT and the sorts, but is it a decent form of exercise?

I would say so. But I wouldn't use it as your only source of exercise.

uhhh... no.

nothing where you are only moving your arms and 1 leg is going to give you a significant full workout.

Does it get your heart rate up? Does it make you sweat? If it does, well, you have your answer. If not put on some heavy clothes and maybe a mask and try again.
At the very least it's a great way to piss off your neighbors so you'll have to run from them to not get your ass handed to you.

i dont get why people find the most complicated ways to exercise. Is it really that hard to find a hill or a steep stair case and run up and down for 15-20 minutes?

Fuck man i've heard it all sorts of crazy shit fat lazy bastards use to get in shape. DDR, fast guitar playing, fast drum playing, fast trumpet playing ("it makes me out of breath so i must be working out") running in place...

it's fucking ridiculous. get your fucking ass out there and work out.

A double pedal would be pretty useful too.

For someone who is out of shape, running up and down a staircase for 15-20 minutes is probably hell. You gotta work your way up to that shit lol.

It makes me sweat pretty hard and oh yeah my heart rate is way up if I non stop drum for a long time.

I'm not some 200 pound fat ass, I just want to exercise because I've lost a shit ton of weight but I could always lose more, you know?

Drummer here usually when I play I sweat quite a bit and my heart rate goes up. However, the amount of exercise you get really isn't that significant. It's probably the equivalent of walking.

just fuckin run. Run while wearing a rucksack full of sand.

or cycle.

or swim.

it doesn't matter how fast you flail your arms, that wont do shit.

damn.

According to the BBC ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7518888.stm )

"He found that during a performance, his heart averaged between 140 and 150 beats a minute, peaking at 190, levels comparable to other top athletes.

However, Dr Smith said that while top footballers were expected to perform once or twice a week, drummers on tour would be doing it every night at a different venue. "

What are your thoughts on playing CoD 4 as exercise?

I'm not saying really easy playing where you sit whith a sniper rifle. I mean really fast moving with ak-47, using all the keys etc.

I've been trying to do different HIIT exercises but I just fucking HATE it. However, I love to play CoD 4. I know it's probably not as effective as HIIT and the sorts, but is it a decent form of exercise?

Actually some chords are very hard to play. Some songs definitely make you feel a burn in your forearm.
