how effective is riding a bike every morning for losing a little weight?

riding a bike TO someplace? Riding simply for exercise?

if it's to someplace, then sure if it isn't something really close. As exercise, then I suppose so. Just make sure there is some effort involved and that you reduce your caloric intake a little.

You have to ride alot, or for a long time to lose weight, dont kid yourself. (Or just eat less than 2000 calories a day, this works)

But yeah, it certainly cant hurt.

Also, thank you Mooty for adding this board, it was the only reason I ever went to 420.

just around 15 lbs. i used to be 125 and am now around 140 because i'm a lazy ass these days. i have never really exercised, but since everyone i knew has now moved away i don't really leave my basement unless it's for work.

i would probably be riding a bmx bike when i wake up on flat ground just around the neighborhood until i get bored.

Any activity is good.

It's effectiveness is determined by the effort that it takes/that you put into it.
An easy ride at a slow pace will give results but it will take a long time to realize them, and a fast ride up steep hills will have fast effect but will be a lot harder and tiring.

What you'll want to do is go at a pace that's a little strenuous, so that your body is actually doing some work. Maybe play around with the speeds that you go, maybe do intervals where you pedal fast for a minute and then at an easier pace for two minutes and repeat that. Keep the muscles guessing so they have to keep working and you should see some improvement.

yeah, that might not really do it.

if there's a bmx-track near you or a cyclo-cross track, that would be better exercise I think. you need sustained cardio to lose any weight.

Varied terrain I definitely agree with.

Depends how fast/long you ride.
Doesn't matter really though when you reduce your carbo intake accordingly.
Sports + diet = fat burned
