I'm thinking about becoming a Vegetarian, and had a few questions for those familiar with the lifestyle.

1. What sort of vitamins should I take, or is this even necessary? I've heard of some people having problems with their muscles and nosebleeds due to lack of the contents in meat.

2. Have you personally ever had any real health problems that stem from being a Vegetarian?

3. I like variety, so your personal favorite site that has some good recipes would be nice.

Thanks in advance. :D

you'll need protein so either eat a lot of nuts or take protein pills.

Yeah, protein.

I went to a vegetarian restaurant last week, it was hell. Food was great, but I couldn't help like feeling it'd be BRILLIANT with a big assed steak slapped next to it.

Don't become vegetarian.

Take a multi-vitamin
and eat lots of protein (soy, beans, etc.)

I've been a vegetarian for two years and have had no problems.

please stop thinking about becoming a vegetarian.

Doesn't it say enough that you have to start thinking >what sort of vitamins should I take?

Meat, eat it.

mid-line quotes fail, duly noted. :'(

I order food from a company called 'Loma Linda', they have meat subsitues like soy bean dogs, tender bits, etc. Pretty good should look into it if you're serious.

1) Vegan here and you don't need a vitamin supplement as long as you eat a varied diet. Meat is an excellent source of nutrients, so if you cut it out of your diet, you're going to have to eat many different foods to get the same amount of nourishment. Luckily, vegetables aren't full of fat like meat is, so if you eat a lot it's no problem.

2) No.

3) Try http://www.vegparadise.com/recipeindex.html, but if you're really interested, I'd say just get a cookbook. They're vegan, but I really like the How It All Vegan cookbook series.

Vegetarians are pussies and vegans are pathetic wastes of human life. They should be exterminated. Grind them up and feed them to their precious animals.

Steve, I really want to know something. What is so horrible and pathetic about your life that you feel the need to come on to a fitness message board and make a complete dick out of yourself by acting belligerent towards vegetarians? Seriously, this is the second time I've seen your inane comments tonight, does being a dick in person make you this happy too?
>> Vul !!e95V2fmCESS
Veggies have incomplete proteins, so you'll need to eat a larger variety. But the variety isn't as complex as you think, ie peanut butter + bread

Eat LOTS of fake meat!!! Morning Star Mother Fucking Buffalo Wings and Corn Dogs are the WIN!!!

BTW, not a veg, just eat the shit out of morningstar food.

I was a vegetarian for 3 years, so just as a bit of advice, I would warn you against doing it. Unless you think eating meat is wrong (and if you visit 4chan, I doubt that's why), you'll like eating a lot more if you eat meat rather then not eating it.

And what's so horrible and pathetic about YOUR life that you have to go nipping at the heels of just one tripfag who's part of the majority opinion that vegetarianism and veganism is bad, and the arguments for it are the ridiculous byproduct of a society that obviously has too much food for its own good?

I went vegetarian for roughly a year when I was 16. In retrospect, it was probably one of the worst decisions of my life. I felt tired all the time, and even the best vegetarian foods just paled in comparison with foods that were able to use meat or animal products in them. I think it may have seriously hindered my development at that age, seeing as I pretty much didn't gain any weight for the next 3 years. I guess that settles your second question; as for the first question, I did take a multi-vitamin each day, and I would recommend everyone take one.
