So, I used to be skinny.

Then I adjusted my diet, and started lifting a lot.

Now I'm not skinny.

But my calves still are. I do squatz and deadlifts and leg presses and calf raises. My legs above the knees are fine. Actually, everything above the knees is fine. But my calves are tiny.

What am I doing wrong, /fit/?

Weighted calf raises.

Feels good man.

You can use a barbell on your knees while sitting on a bench with your toes on a 2x4. Raise and lower the barbell with yo' calfs.

Or you can just do one leg at a time with the ball of your foot on a ledge and a dumbell in hand on the side you are working.

"big gear mashing" as cyclists would call it would hardly be more effective than any other lower body exercise at calf gains. Although you are somewhat correct if you specify that the big gear mashing be done "out of the saddle" and clipless pedals never hurt either...

walk for an hour without letting your heels hit the ground. If you make it through the whole hour legitimately ill shake you hand. Because i havent.

I had the same problem treating my calves as a muscle group like any other so I would do a few exercises and then move on. Basically the solution for me was to double any calf exercises relative to different muscle group exercises. In summary, do more calf exercises.

I did calf raises with 200kg on my shoulders and still didn't make a lot of progress. It takes a shitload of time until you get them to grow. For me, a few years of playing basketball did the job just fine but a few years is a lot.
