Hey /fit/

I've been looking up fitness information off and on for the last few months, but I'm feeling the pull stronger now as I can tell my health is declining even more instead of just staying at its horrible same. The problem is I'm still not sure where to start, I can't find any really concrete suggestions, and most websites end in asking for money (which I don't really trust) or general information that helps nothing. I'm not looking for a personal workout plan or anything, but actual information would be nice.

I'm male, 6'2, probably about 270 pounds. I have bad knees from sports that I don't play anymore, but I can't really run without having my knees (joints) hurt for days afterwards.

I really want to start some kind of cardio program, since I'm looking to lose weight more than anything. I'm willing to diet and exercise, but I'd much (MUCH) rather do it at home, so I was looking for exercises I could do with my own bodyweight rather than machines, although I do have weights at home, where I'll be in about a month.

tl;dr, fatty with knee problems wanting to lose weight/do cardio

I was thinking about getting an exercise bike, since I've heard they're low impact on knees. Would spending an hour a day on that make the difference, or should I do other things as well?

I would suggest taking cod liver oil to help with your knees, and then using an elliptical machine, or however you spell it.
If you want to do exercise involving own bodyweight, i would strongly suggest downloadinng the p90x set, as i've heard from alot of threads that it needs very little equipment and is ALL done at home.

I'll pick some up next time I'm at the mall, and I'll check out the p90x thing you were mentioning, (I found a torrent of it, $600 is a bit out of my price range).
Thanks for the tips!
