Hey there /fit/,

I've been eating less shitty shit for 111 days as of today. Lean Cuisine and Healthy choice (don't bitch about it, I know they're a shitty substitute for normal shit), plus one or two subs a week.

I've also been exercising a pretty good amount: 30 minutes per day with the stationary exercise bike at about 25mph solid. I get about 12.5 miles from this.

My starting weight was 196 according to my doctor, and now I weigh in at 166. (actually, Nov. to now timeframe)

The BMI put me at 24.x -- which is in the healthy range of 20-25. In addition to my current cardiovascular exercise, should I do shit to tone my stomach area? If so, what? If not, why?

pic related -- is me at 2-3 AM this morn.

Are you doing any weight lifting or muscle building exercise at all, or just cardio?

you probably need to up your cardio more. Maybe try lifting or something. I bought a heavy bag and a double end bag and have never looked back. your sort of in the same spot as me, I have like 1/4th of an inch of fat over my abs except i did some crunches and can already see some definition.

Ok. You've had a good weight loss. Congratulations. Now is the time to start gaining it all back, as muscle. Lift weights! Lots of weights! Keep doing your cardio! Stay on a healthy diet! Stop using exclamation points!

Saying weights is as bland as saying "listen to music". Sure, I know what music is, but there are many types with many different qualifiers. I want to know what type of thing I should do unde the category of 'weights' if any.

Go read up on beginner weight training programs. Bodybuilding.com is a good place to start. Take it slow at first, you don't want to hurt yourself.

a trainer is good for this, gives you a well-rounded workout for the whole body. or a knowledgeable friend. or lurk at the Y or a gym or something, you can pick up ideas by hanging out, reading posters, seeing people.

1 good trainer can save you a 1000 headaches and 1000 desires to give up.

Just don't be that guy who follows someone else and their trainer around the gym, listening in on their workout plan.

frozen meals are an excellent way to ensure you get RDA & a set Calorie intake. if you don't snack, you can easily count 1500 Calories of food.

Agreed on the trainer thing... if you're a weight-tard like me, they're a great help. Not to mention they're good motivators.

Get a trainer for at least a month.

If anything in this time you learn what works best for you and how to do everything properly. Without proper form you risk injury and you won't get the proper effect of the exercise.

furthermore to my originally mentioning a trainer, perhaps you should do it from the perspective of a really really newb. what i mean to say is:

My first trainer offered me half price for first session or two. I asked him: Would I be able to visually see any difference in that little time? He said yes. When I saw myself getting "pumped" (arms bigger) halfway in the second time, I was becoming hooked with my evident proof. It was progressively increasing amounts of win after that, so I became hooked for the year since.

Be willing to leave it if the guy sucks weak. Try more than one person, if you have to.

cardio will make burn fat. fat deposits around the body according to your genetics.
the only way to lose that fat off your stomach is to keep going at your cardio until your body decides to hit that area to use fat.

I didn't really finish my thinking before clicking submit. i suck balls.

All I ever promised to give was 1 hour. No commitment to a month or a year or that kind of shit. Then 1 more, etc.

Then I was told for any real benefit, I should do it twice a week. Being poor assed, I did only half that to at least get the idea, started slower than the trainer's pace wanted me at. When I became really motivated after many many weeks of this, I finally bumped it up to 2x wk, and was ready and willing to handle it.

If you ever stop, muscles have a kind of memory. You can regain your shape quite a lot faster after earning it once. Ask those kinds of questions of your new favorite person.

sorry if this is tl;dr, i'm afflicted with [insert excuse here].

no, it's actually true, well, to a point with the cardio part anyway. genetic make up and hormone levels will determine where fat gets deposited and removed from. just the way it seems to work.
