From personal experience, pain in wrist is something you learn and get over by yourself as you do more push ups. Because you are not pushing too much weight in the first place and unless you've been having this pain for awhile, you will just have to learn it your self as you do more. Although it turns into a different convo if you are extremely over weight.
Now that I've been benching for awhile, I don't get any wrist pain, when I'm doing push ups at all because there's a significant weight difference my wrists are used to now.
