You need THAT much protien?! Anonymous
I'm seeing some sources saying bodybuilders need as much as 1.5 or 2 times as much protein as their bodywieght.

Some are saying you need subtract fat from such a number but then some say you don't and go by your total bodyweight.

What is the correct formula for the amount of protein a bodybuilder needs?
>> Anonymous
Most sources I've seen with those numbers have meant your body weight in kilograms.

That's still your fucking body weight, whether you measure it in ounces, tons, or dildoes.

Its 1gram of protein per pound of body weight,
So if you weight 180 pounds eat 180 grams of protein.

That's a lot of protein
>> Anonymous
Not really.

A moderate 8 oz size chicken breast has about 40grams.

Are... are you retarded or something?

aim for 150 g a day at least
it's not that much.

1 egg is 6 g of protein
mid size steak is 40g+
canned tuna is 16g or something

So 4 steaks a day. This sounds so healthy.

YOUR BODY CAN ONLY PRODUCE ONE POUND OF MUSCLE A WEEK. EAT ENOUGH PROTIEN TO SUPPLY THAT. ANYTHING MORE, AND IT WILL TURN TO FAT.

YES, DO WHAT THIS TWATERMELON SAYS. ARBITRARY MUSCLE GROWTH CONSIDERATIONS ARE COMPLETELY VALID. ALSO, PROTEIN ONLY MAKES MUSCLE OR FAT. YOUR BODY IS NOT INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO DERIVE OTHER SORTS OF ENERGY IT MIGHT NEED FROM PROTEIN. THAT IS WHY IF YOU ARE GOING ON A STARVATION DIET FROM PROTEIN ALONE, YOU'LL GAIN FAT BECAUSE PROTEIN CANNOT SUPPLY... you know what, fuck this...

Go climb a wall of dicks.

So how much protein per week would that be?

Op here.

Good, very good. I only need 105 to 126 grams per day.

That's tons more bearable than what the bodybuilding sites were saying about like 200 grams a day.

>>208562
what? amino acids -> fat?! o.O i thought it was only carbs that would make you fat (along with fats ofc)
>> Anonymous
While we're on the subject, can the body absorb more than 30 grams of protein a meal?
>> Anonymous
>>208584

Excess calories --> Fat

Protein contains calories.

What have we learnt from this?
>> Anonymous
>>208568
So since I'm 117 pounds I would need...
117lbs/2.2=53.18kg
53.18kg*1.2=63.816gm

So 64 grams of protein per day? Fascinating.
>> ESH !Oj4wGhYfsE
>>208588

There's never been a conclusive study about how much of it is actually absorbed, but to be honest, I wouldn't go over 40-45g a meal.

>>208594

how tall are you?
>> Anonymous
>>208344
Short answer: No
Long answer: Yes, but.

You don't need that much protein to gain muscle and get fit, at all. However, you need that much protein to gain as much as possible from exercising. So it really depends on you--is it acceptable/plausable to eat that much protein a day? Are you looking for an ultra-cut/ripped/toned/huge body? Then go for it.

Lots of people don't go overdrive on protein and get great bodies. Just expect slower progress than someone maximizing their diet. But it's not a race, and not getting that much protein is no excuse to not exercise.
