Whey powder is whey powder. THE BRAND DOESN'T MATTER. amirite guyz?

<-Enjoying a strawberry protein shake made with kroger brand whey powder.

I just added ACME why powder +++ to my milk, and now I think I'm getting diarrhea. :(

False. Quality (protein quality, amount of fillers, powder solubility, taste) differs.

I once bought a powder that didn't mix with milk and that was impossible to drink.

>protein quality, amount of fillers [...] differs
o rly?

How can the quality of the protein itself differ? That seems a lot like saying the quality of bottled waters differs (assuming they're all pure H2O).

As far as fillers, the amount of protein per serving is right on the label (25g for the kroger stuff)

go and read up on it on the internet please, as your reply shows you haven't even so much as looked into that topic

Short answer: unless you go down to the level of amino acids you can't say "oh it's 100% whey protein, can't be any different". That'd be like saying "oh it's a chocolate cookie, they all taste the same".

If you don't believe me, go and compare a 100% protein whey concentrate powder with a 100% high grade hydrolized whey powder.

Even cheap whey powders are almost always whey concentrate, which is good enough.

the concentrate vs isolate debate is full of lulz and marketing.

fuck a chocolate chip cookies sounds delicious.

The brand doesn't matter.

The ingredients and nutritional info do.

You can buy a cheap Whey powder as long as:
It has quality ingredients
Has appropriate calories/grams of protein
Tastes good to you

Optimum Nutrition is one of the highest selling brands and its not that expensive.

BSN Syntha-6 is more expensive, but also tastes a lot better. (Its also a blended protein)

But

tl;dr - if the ingredients and nutrients are the same and it tastes good, its fine.

Hydrolyzing doesn't change the amino acid profile, but it does improve the speed that it reaches the bloodstream.

Whey from any protein distributor does the trick, with expensive hydrolyzed whey for the compulsive types.

I fail to see what you mean with "even". Of course the cheap ones are, since concentrate is the cheapest.

I'm not saying the increased cost pays off, but that doesn't change the fact that protein isn't protein. And honestly, even if you don't get "more muscle" from buying non-concentrate protein, it does make a difference in bloating for quite a few people and is especially important for people with lactose intolerance. So it's not all marketing, unless you're one of the morons who fails to inform himself and ONLY buys whatever has the most outrageous marketing claims next to that dream physique in that bodybuilding mag.

hydrolized also means it tastes bitter like fuck due to being "predigested"; that is the reason I gave that example and not because he'll notice a muscle increase from having one shake ;)
