I disagree. For protein shakes and weight gainers it's much cheaper than buying food that would give you equivalent nutrition. A multivitamin is also good to have even if you're not working out. Fish oils good too.

/fit/ hates supplements, but I love em though. the 6th month point is a fine time to ease into them. By then you should have your form down for everything you like to do.

No, this is the shit that gives supplementation a bad name. I think supplementing is great and there is no "too early" to start. If you're looking just to put on muscle, I'd recommend Optimum Nutrition Whey protein. Post workout eat a banana and have a protein shake. Additionally the Opti-men multivitamin is a good (just take one a day though), and any fish oil pills are good. You don't need creatine, but might want to start looking into it and eventually try it out.

Xtend is actually pretty good. Not as awesome as it's described there. What it'll do for you mostly is decrease soreness. Where it really shines is when you're doing cardio, especially intense cardio.

its JUST fucking protein

you make it sound like a godamn steroid

protein is NOT an ergogenic aid, it is NOT a 'supplement', its a mutherfucking macronutrient, just this time in a condensed, powdered form.
