Dunno, I guess learn what most people think depression is.

A lot of therapists are under the consensus that depression is anger turned inwards.

From ancient mystic, to modern therapist, the idea is to allow the full spectrum of emotions to be there. By denying pain (essentially what depression is), we cut ourselves off from the whole. Depress: To press down. Depression is less a painful experience, and more an attempt to numb the pain. If we did not have strategies to escape pain, we would not be depressed. Strategies are usually addictions. Identify your addictions (smoking, booze, drugs, fapping, etc) and stop doing it.

We get stuck on negative thinking.

When shit gets bad, do something to get your mind out of it.

Punching bag is a good idea, but when you're too depressed to get up and punch, it's useless

Meditation is a great help.

Studies have shown that regular exercise is just as helpful as meds.

Get physically active.

Fish oil helps the brain with depression.
Carlson's fish oil, the liquid with lemon is good stuff.

To deal with stress and sadness it is best to approach the physical, mental, and social aspects of your life all together. Start keeping a nightly journal to let out your emotions and to think about things. Get regular exercise every single day. Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day. Go to sleep at a good time every single day. Wake up at a good time every single day. Do things you enjoy with people you love. Put things in perspective. List off the things you are thankful for. Hug people you love and tell them that you love them. Remember that nothing is permanent, not even your depression and anxiety. Life is good, enjoy it while it lasts.

Depends on what depression you have and why

I have a self-worthless feeling of depression and the way to handle it is to think of 'Realistic Thinking'. It's the way of thinking things through realisticly, obviously, but when you're depressed you can think many other things.

Basically, the thought process is:

A thought leads to a feeling which in turn, leads to an action. If you think hard on this, there's no doubt you can cure your depression. What you have to do, is whenever you're feeling depressed, trace it back to the thought and change that thought which in turn will give you a different feeling.

A good way to deal with depression is to distract your mind.. get involved with your community by volunteering, taking some classes, going to the gym etc - fill your day up with things to do besides sitting at the computer / TV and you will feel fine.

Tell yourself that you believe in yourself, you might sound crazy but say it over and over in your head.

Say it out loud: I am Strong, Powerful, Confident, and Motivated.

Enrich your life, don't try and heal the depression, when you start to *fight* depression, it becomes the enemy. Ignore the depression and set other goals, things that you WANT to work for.

Accomplishing goals (small or big) makes you feel good. (and isn't that all that you want?)

I like to cut out the motivating shit from Military recruiting ads and put them around my house.
>IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF LIFE TRY HARDER.
>BE STRONGER MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY.
>STRENGTH. CONFIDENCE. SELF-ESTEEM.

That's about what I do. I turn on myself and after a few days realize what a fucking bitch I am being and spend the rest of the day acting like I have the biggest cock in the world. It helps the self esteem, and people seem to notice.
