besides drinking mostly water and cutting out stuff like soda, what other changes can i make in my diet to help reduce acne?

i remember reducing carbohydrates but don't know if it is true or not
>> Anonymous
Diet does not affect acne, you ignorant fuck.

Look into tetracycline, and some topical medications.
>> Red Machine D !h1LZxECEVA
Benzoyl peroxide, topical. Also, mix in some sunshine.

who's the ignorant fuck, dumbass.

All of those studies are preliminary, and have NOT been accepted by the dermatology community.

L2Science, you amateur fucks.

Also, wikipedia? Yea, that's definitely credible.
>> Anonymous
Whether diet affects acne or not is a highly debatable topic. Many research studies have shown that it does not, however, there are people that have experienced firsthand that diet does, indeed, affect acne.

The wikipedia article cited one fucking experiment for each of its two claims: dairy and high GI carbs. Do you know the FIRST fucking thing about scientific theory? Jesus christ, go back to whatever community college you dropped out of and take some night classes.

I am tired of dumb ass /fit/heads that do not understand the first about science, as they give anecdotal information, and non-peer reviewed sources.
>> Anonymous
>>161233

wow, i don't know if you are a troll or really that fucking stupid

those studies were peer-reviews and published in journals. also wikipedia requires credible sources, which is more than the bullshit you're spouting.
>> Anonymous
Milk causes acne. For sure.
>> Anonymous
>>161244
Sure, they require peer reviewed sources, but if you read the fucking article, they state that the dermatologist community has not accepted the study.

One report is not the final say, please, don't be so fucking useless.

go on pubmed and you'll find plenty linking acne and diet. please, stop acting as if you understand a thing about science. you're a fucking failure in everything and should just go kill yourself...now

Enjoy your ignorance to the both the medical and scientific community.

^_^

I have light acne, but I have an extremely strict diet. The only diary I consume is protein powder, and the only high GI carbs I consume is fruit.

Exercise physiologist reporting in.

There are conflicting studies about the effect of dietary factors in acne control. Some have found that diet has a positive effect, and some studies have found no effect. Since you're a wannabe scientist, you automatically jump to conclusions, which science is NOT about. A real scientist understands his limitations, and would say "the findings are inconclusive".

Science has a hard time understanding biological processes. The human body is still a mystery to us, in some senses. It's not like physics, where we can see what's going on inside. Hence, the conflicting reports.

Since science changes it's mind a lot in regards to nutrition, diet, and exercise, observation and experience are all that some are left with. As an empiricist, if I see something that works and science doesn't know the reason for why it works, it doesn't change the fact that it works.

Tl;dr- You're a wannabe scientist. Leave it to the pros. Which I am. And you're not.

I went on the paleo diet(eating nothing but meat, veg, and nuts) over 2 months ago and my acne has dramatically improved. I only have red marks now

LOL, you have absolutely now clout.

How long in community college did it take you to get that degree? Seriously, how many night classes? Fucking pathetic -- premed freshmen know more than you.

Seriously, all of you losers trying to validate your own existences by the whole "everyone does their own thing" bullshit-line, just fucking admit you are failures. Look past your rose-colored goggles, and go back to your local community college and transfer somewhere respectable.

ignoring the wankery in this thread cause ffs guys, arguing over the internet. jeez.

to op:
i dont know how relevant this will be to you but ill write anyway.
ive had pretty serious acne for nearly 10 years, stupid hormones. been on accutane twice, which worked wonders, but had seriously hideous side effects. within the last 6 months ive found when i drink a premix energy drink (one of those "$6 for 12L" sodastream redbull clones) all my acne fades for a week or so. originally i thought i was finally equaling out in terms of hormones or something like that, but the repeated practice of binging on fake rebull and having much-reduced inflammation and no breakouts is becoming pretty apparent. the syrup is, imaginably, very high in sugar and all kinds of "not-great" substances, but also high in B vitamins which i think might be the culprit - from my layman's understanding of how things like this work.

if you like ill post a pic of the bottle/UPC. im in australia though so i dont know if you'll have it in america. benefit: even if it doesnt work for you, you'll become known as the dude who supplies cheap redbull to everyones parties :P

change pillow cases every few days, shower, was face 2-3 times a day (NOT with soap), etc.

I used to have bad acne on my face, now that I've come out of puberty that's pretty much gone, but now it's pretty bad on my back. I shower daily, change my shirt every day... what else can I do to try to reduce it on my own? I'm moving soon, so I don't want to get a prescription right now.

Any thoughts?

Vitamin C. Eat a large orange every day.
>> Anonymous
>>161379
So... I'm guessing what I eat every day is bad then.

Breakfast:

Weet-bix with fruit and milk

Lunch:

Ham and cheese sandwich / vegeite and cheese sandwich
1 mandarin
1 banana
water
2 small brownies

Afternoon snack:

Pizza pocket
1 banana

Dinner:

Any of these:

Spaghetti
Chicken and chips
Steak, chips, and baked beans
Chicken, potatoes, and carrots
Lamb, potatoes, carrots, and pumpkin
Fish and chips
Roast beef, potatoes, and carrots

Any advice on how to put more skin-healthy foods into my diet? I really hate that taste of most veggies that aren't potatoes, carrots or pumpkin, but I'll eat almost any fruit (except pineapple and tomato).

Avoid all sources of caffeine in your diet. Your skin will quickly heal up and dry out after about 6 weeks.

This man speaks truth. There is a bar of soap called "Panoxyl" that is available at most every pharmacy. It's cheap and IT WORKS. It cleared up my "bacne" after my acne moved from my face to my back.

i suggest you wash your face with noxema deep cleaning cream. And buy a face moisturizer (make sure its NOT a body moisturizer it will make your face worse) and use it after you wash your face. Use a toner to help with the oily skin.

If anything, reducing carbs will make it worst. What you'd want to do is eat BETTER carbs. Carbs are the most efficient fuel for your body and they turn into glucose the easiest, which is the main fuel for ALL of your organs and systems. Carbs also greatly hydrate your body, which in turn affects your skin's health.

Carbs are actually so important to your skin that they are recommended as the most important part of your diet when losing weight to avoid having loose skin.

Also, if you're under 25, you shouldn't be worrying about acne. It's uncontrollable for a lot of people that young. When you start pushing 30 and STILL have acne, then you can worry.
