Hey /fit/,

So a few months ago I was prescribed Adderall (extended release) for ADD (bullshit disease, but off topic). It completely kills my appetite for lunch, and I never eat breakfast, occasionally I'll grab an apple on my way to school. Basically, I only eat substantially at dinner (usually not much and usually starchy stuff) and then some midnight snacks (mostly healthy-ish snacks like Triscuits and raisens).
I know that its unhealthy and you shouldn't go out of your way to achieve this eating schedule, but since I don't really have a choice how could I take advantage of it? What should I have for breakfast? How do I avoid that thing where my body thinks its starving so it starts metabolizing very very conservatively?
Thanks
(By the way, these are some of the most helpful threads and supportive responses I've seen on 4chan, let alone trial threads)

OP here,
Also, I'm average to slightly thin, not much muscle definition, but I've got pretty broad shoulders. EXCEPT, that is, for my stomach fat, which I literally constantly hold in all the time. When I don't it looks extremely bizarre for my otherwise average/thin shape to have a giant gut as if I was going into my second trimester. I'm 5 9 and about 145-150lbs. I know cardio is the only thing that can get the stomach fat like that, but I'm wondering if it makes a difference that I'm otherwise thin and light? I feel like I can't really lose that much weight at 145.
Thanks again

Well first ALWAYS eat breakfast. A small bowl of cereal and a piece of fruit/a yogurt are a easy quick breakfast. Since you aren't eating breakfast everyday, it might be why you don't feel hungry at lunch time. Breakfast is what kick starts your metabolism in the morning. As for lunch I would suggest something light like soup or a salad, so even if you aren't too hungry your metabolism keeps going, and you don't let your body think it's starving.

Is the ridiculously low calorie thing okay?

My sister was on Adderall for her autism-related attitudes and her appetite was lost too. There's nothing in the prescription that says it can't be taken with food or after it.
So, what my mom did was she gave my sister her pill immediately after breakfast. Hopefully, this will help your appetite problems too- but I don't know what to say about your other eating habits.

Eating only one meal a day is probably not optimal for energy and vitality, but is simultaneously definitely healthier than eating many small meals a day. That may sound contradictory but you gotta remember that metabolism, digestion, all that shit is seriously inflammatory business.

My personal principle is never eat unless you're hungry. Not hungry at breakfast? Don't eat breakfast. Not hungry for dinner? Don't eat dinner. Now if you go for a week without eating like this then maybe really there's something wrong with you, but if you follow this and find yourself only eating once/twice a day or two days, then keep with it. Just watch to ensure you're not grossly missing your calorie/nutrient requirements. You didn't complain about having low energy or anything, and if your only worry is health then don't worry, because instinctive fasting like this is much much more healthy than plugging yourself up with unwanted, unneeded food at all hours of the day.

Thanks, very appreciated. Adderall keeps the energy up, I sometimes crash as it wears off but I attribute that to the drug itself and because I don't get too much sleep (unhealthy too, I know). I think I'll start eating breakfast just as a good way to wake up. Thanks again

not Kelloggs-anything, or toasted shit, or refined sugary-shit.
get some real protein sources and fruits going. it's supposed to be breaking the fast for a damn reason, it's been the longest time since you've eaten.

OP, I had the same problem, get a lower dosage and it will help a hell of a lot. I lost about 20 pounds from adderall and I was skinny. Lower dosage helped, but other than that you have to force yourself to eat small things throughout the day.

Actually, eating more often boosts your metabolism. Ask any serious weightlifter, powerlifter etc. and if they follow a strong diet they'll likely eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day as opposed to 3 big meals a day.

Of course it boosts your metabolism, that's exactly what I said. What I didn't say was that it was healthy. Eating often doesn't allow your body time off to heal from eating, give your organs downtime from all the shit they've been excreting and filtering. Does that sound ridiculous, that food metabolism is a dangerous and destructive process? All-day-long eating is indicated as one of the biggest reasons why everyone is a fat fuck these days, because without downtime your body stops being able to maintain its own organs. You develop insulin resistance, all the other symptoms of Syndrome X that eventually lead to obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes.

First off. ADD/ADHD is not a bullshit disease. If you really have it, get a PET scan of your brain using a tag that targets dopamine. You'll see that your brain has very little compared to someone of the same age.

Now for the subject at hand. I take adderall as well. The best thing to do for the not being hungry this to just eat anyway. For breakfast, I normally have a bowl of cereal and a glass of 2% milk. (~400 calories); For lunch, it varies, but I try to have around 600 calories. Then between lunch and dinner, I have a 200 calorie snack. For dinner I have 500 calories. Then I'll usually have a 100 calorie snack two hours before bed. Annoying, yes. But hey, health is important.
