I was totally out of breath after each set of benchpressing today. I can usually do 15 reps but I was out of breath by my 13th, it felt like my body was far from failure but my heart felt I'd just run a marathon thus had to stop, why /fit/? why?For the past week, I've been taking a high calorie gainer, could this be the reason?

Because your sets are too long. You should immediatly begin the next repetition when you finish the previous one. Don't just hold the bar in the air, it wastes energy.Glad to help you.
