Okay, /fit/, I want to burn fat and tone muscle, Not too worried about increasing my gains right now as they are already good for the time being.

I've always been told that for toning, you should be doing more reps and sets with less weight. But how many reps and sets are too much? And should my final set make me struggle for it, as if it were heavy weight, or should it just burn like all hell?

tl;dr What is the best rep/set combo for Toning and Burning?

For fat burning (increased metabolism), you want to do compound lifts and err toward strength gains.

For visually larger muscles, you want to do around 3 sets of 8-12 reps to failure. Compound lifts are still preferred here, but you may find it necessary to do some isolation exercises.
