OK. Here are my stats.

30 years old. (inb4 grandpa). Have a history of working out, but have let it go, work related, became a fat fuck. About a year ago, I changed up my diet, eating oatz, yellow peas, squash, chicken, fish, eggs, and salads, all the good stuff. I went from 225 to 195. Easily, without exercise. I just got a doorway chin bar, and am doing calisthenic style workouts, just to keep tight. My gym days are over. I have no time. A kid, a job, and go to school on top of all that.

This is the part where I ask about HIIT.

(I know the BS about "bellyfat", I raged at the title, but the routine looks simple and reasonable to me)

http://www.intervaltraining.net/HiitTraining-30.html

I found some beginner routines to go with above. Basically, they are 30 sec (8-9/10 intensity) sprint, with 90 sec (5-6/10 intensity). Then, as the weeks progress, your interval shortens.

Does this sound reasonable? I am carrying about another 20lb of fat on my body right now. I have a fairly decent walking routine (lots of hills, about 45 minutes a day). How does this look? Pic semi related. I am old, and look like a monkey.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Say gramps, what kinda calisthenics are ya doin? I do some myself and shit's a bitch (in a good way). Just tryin to see the stuff other people do.

And yeah that HIIT stuff you're talkin about seems good. Sprint, jog, sprint, jog. Doesn't get anymore complicated than that.

Chins, pushups, sit ups, squat thrusts. Nothing too fancy.

Sup grampa,

Before you even think about sprinting, you need to have some running under your belt. Walking isn't going to cut it in preparing your joints for the impact of HIIT sprinting.

Well, I appreciate your concern for the elderly, but I gotta give this a shot. 30 seconds with 90 seconds in between? (as the beginner's routine linked) I can handle that. I take about 20 flights of stairs per day at school. Pretty active since the weight came off.

I don't think you understand what sprinting is. 30 seconds of sprinting I can nearly finish 300 meters (ok more like 250m). That's nearly a 1/4 of a mile. Do you know how much running impacts the knees? Up to 5 times bodyweight. Do you know how much force sprinting impacts your knees? Yea.

Don't be an old dumbass, I know most of you are, but I'm giving you help here. If you insists on doing it, do regular running speeds at first.

Ha ha wow. Grandpa is 30 years old, walks 45 minutes a day on hills, calisthenics, and takes 20 flights of stars. I think he can probably handle a sprint or 6, and can probably kick your ass.

It isn't rocket science, or superhuman.

250 Meters equals to 0.155342798059 Miles, or just shy of 1/7 of a mile.

Feisty words, old man. Your entire day is less than my warm-up

most people don't want to support a family into their 50's. i'd rather cut out a few nights of binge drinking in my 20's and enjoy my older years. I envy the parents who's kids are done and starting a family of their own and they are only 55. i feel sorry for the parents who said LOL IM GONNA PARTY AND HAVE KIDS AT 35 and are now in their early 60's and putting 3 kids through college.

lol aren't you awesome

im 23 and i workout like this guy. i do it after 5+ years of training like an animal. i got tired of pushing myself so hard. i have other endeavors in life and spending 2-3 hours a day training and organizing my life around weightl ifting became moreo f a chore and i no longer found joy. no one is impressed that you can pushyourself to workout hard.

Who said it wasn't? Some of us have day jobs squirt.

I don't know. Something about starting life, my man. I was out of my parent's house at 18, in college where I met my current wife at 20, graduated and started my career in the medical field at 24, got married a year later at 25 and had a kid after two years of being married. Not exactly too early, really, was it?

Anyway, I did my first round of HIIT. Don't feel any crushing chest pains, or tingling left arm.... The earth didn't open up and swallow me either. I'll keep everyone posted about my results. Gonna lick my wounds tomorrow!

Having children costs too much. You fail.

Sigh, High intensity interval training isn't really good for beginners, I would suggest that everyone shuts the fuck up about HIIT and starts to promote 45-60 minute running trips more.

I wish someone told your parents that.

You fail as a troll too. You're just mad because you screwed yourself. Hope you like shelling out all that cash to a little dweeb and that bitch wife of yours.
