hey /fit/ i've been trying to work out lately, got a wii fit, and have been bicycling. but now my legs are starting to cramp up all the time when i'm not doing anything. it's getting difficult to sleep. it's not like the usual soreness from exerting a particular muscle, i can feel that in my arms and legs as well, but there's a particular cramping pain that happens when im sitting or laying down and it's driving me insane.

i drink lots of water, take a multi-vitamin and fish oil supplements, what am i doing wrong?

There might not be enough potassium in your multivitamin. This used to happen to me every morning when I woke up (I could not even move my legs) and my doctor prescribed me some potassium tablets. Cleared it right up. Bananas are a good source of po-tass as well.

No.

OP, you are just having normal aches and pains (yeah, yer legs hurt more). Increase your food, and sleep and back off the workouts for a day or two.

Ah, thank you guys.

I probably should be eating more fresh fruits anyway, so I shall act on both suggestions.

Do you doubt my tale, young one? I just finished eating a banana right before composing this post. If the OP knows the difference between these cramps and typical muscle soreness from exercise, then it is you who is mistaken in this instance.

*sigh*
Bananas are a good source of potassium. Just not compared to dozens of other foods.

If the OP is Hypokalemic, he is going to be having a lot more than just intermittent leg cramps.
If OP smokes, he may be suffering from claudication. OP, if you smoke, stop.

Problem is, being a Doctor isn't much help or relevance on the internet.

By the way, at my age, I'll take "young one" any day over what I stare at in the mirror every day.
