dumbell or barbell military presses?
>> Lil Dreamer !UYwMl8CsAs
>>34301
barbell all the way.
>> Anonymous
military presses are barbell by default
>> Anonymous
>>34313
unless you're ambidextrous, use dumbbells.
otherwise you lift 70% of the weight with your strong hand and it leads to spinal troubles

>>34587

lol no

take that shit back to fark.com

fail

you don't lift military presses with your hand, it's your delts and triceps.

fail
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34590

Actually, he's right. Take your shit back to GNC and suck down some more MUSCLE MILK.
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34605

And I guess you hold the bar with your... Wrists? Forearms? Help me out here.
>> Anonymous
>>34607

How is holding the bar in your hands (which yes is actually your forearm flexing your fingers) got anything to do with pushing it up in the air?
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34610

He means one side of your body tends to have slightly stronger muscles. If you use a barbell, that side will do more of the work, and the non-dominant side will do less and progressively grow weaker in comparison to the dominant side.
>> Anonymous
If one side of your body is 70% stronger than the other, then you fail at life and bodybuilding.
>> Anonymous
>>34606

wrong wrong wrong

use both hands to lift the barbell, each hand holds 50% of the wieght.
>> Anonymous
>>34611

That's why you do barbell AND dumbbell work.
>> Anonymous
>>34613
ever tried seeing how much more you can bench on a bar as compared to dumbbells?
>> Anonymous
Military press is the ultimate mass gainer for shoulders.
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34617

Why do barbell work at all if you're already doing the exercises with dumbbells? At most you only need to do 2-3 sets of military presses, and you still need to get some other exercises to hit the lateral and posterior heads.
>> Anonymous
>>34620

What's that got to do with anything? Yes it's lower than half what you bench with the bar, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO RECRUIT MOAR STABILISER MUSCLES TO GUIDE IT'S PATH.
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34627

And because one side is weaker.
>> Anonymous
>>34631

Wrong again.
>> Anonymous
Old geezer, do you even lift?
>> Anonymous
>>34631
no, the other dude used all caps, so he is right.
>> Anonymous
If your body is so out of whack that one side is significantly stronger than the other, use dumbells to even it out. Otherwise, it's negligable.
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34633

Go on believing that if you like, it won't make it true. The stabilization is part of the difficulty, but your body has a dominant and non-dominant side. One group of muscles WILL be weaker than the other, and they'll stay that way unless you do some non-barbell exercises.
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34636

Since 1994.
>> Anonymous
>>34640

so i should lift 50lbs with my left side and 30lbs with my right?

that is terrible advice why would you say that?
>> Anonymous

>>34587
>>34587

Noe u dont u lift 64.67482% with one and 35.32518& wit da other

Stop pulling shit out of your ass
>> Old Geezer !YI1jEQivlM
>>34646

He means use dumbbells instead of barbells (same weight on both sides) to strengthen your non-dominant side.
>> Anonymous
>>34646
no, for fucks sake people.

he is saying that using the same weight dumbells, both sides of your body will HAVE to lift equally, as opposed to a bar, where one side can help the weaker side out
>> Anonymous
god damn this thread needs smote from the earth.
>> Anonymous
>>34650
try it.
use dumbbells both sides concurrently with even weight and see how much you can do.
>> Anonymous
>>34643

why are you pulling this dominant/non-dominant shit out of your ass?

do you want to be pissed on?
>> Anonymous
>>34654

No, each side still does the same work with a barbell.
>> Anonymous
>>34658

i tired itz i cud doe 45.448584930489% wif one and 80.604827% wif da uva
>> Anonymous
>>34651
This is actually a superior exercise because you can make the stoke length a few inches longer. Pecs get a lot more total compression this way
>> Anonymous
>>34627
i actually just switched from barbell bench to dumbell (not new or hopeless either, 1 rep max for bench is 245)

dumbell made a lot more muscles sore, so i'm assuming they're muscles that weren't being used with a bar

>>34664

No, they don't. There's a reason for dumbbell exercises, and it's been stated in this thread ad nauseum.

I only want to see the biggest number I can put up, so fuck your dumb bell faggotry.

3x8 Barbell Military press (heavy)
4x8 Dumbell press
3x10 Bent over lateral raises
3x8 Alternate barbell press (light weight, push barbell just over head and behind head, then infront again just clearing head, that is one rep, keeps constant tension on delts and hits all heads)

Sometimes throw in some light lateral raises
