Sup /fit/

I need some advice, I'm about 6 ft 4, 220lbs (roughly guessing, but no more than 230) and I've finally decided to lose weight. I was just wondering what kind of exersises to do if I wanted to lose weight fast. Also wondering how much weight it's possible to lose before the middle of May or around there? I will be very dedicated to this and I normally eat right anyhow, I just don't work out or exersise that much at all. Any help is appreciated.

Also, pic highly unrelated

OP here, I know jogging is good, but how far would you reccomend daily etc. Basically I need a workout plan.

Thanks for the help. I'm 19 years old and I live in Britain (Indeed a wierd time for me to be awake, I know).

I roughly guess I eat about 2000 calories a day and as I said I'm not active at all. I've just moved house recently and I've yet to meet anyone around here so I don't leave my house too often.

If you're eating right, but still overweight, you're not eating right. 2000 calories a day in ice cream is a lot different than 2000 calories a day complex carbs and good protein, low fat stuff etc. Mind giving us a rundown of how you eat? As far as losing weight fast, running, swimming, and rowing are probably the fastest calorie burners.

Humm, well if you were really eating only 2000 kcal a day then you should be losing weight.
Doing a quick BMR estimation says you should be burning 2278 just to stay alive, and with you doing chores and shit it brings it up to 2734.26.
So if you are not losing any weight now then you are eating more then you think, which is quite easy (one meal at a burger place here can give ya 1000 cals easily with some of the monster burgers) So cut back some food, doesn't have to be a whole meal just skip the chips when you get Fish and Chips and get a diet drink.

if you want to loose weight, stop eating starch and use fruit and vegetables as your main source of carbohydrates (excluding potatoes), along with healthy fats. this'll put your body into ketosis. you'll feel like shit for about 3 weeks.

before anyone says 'fruits are just sugar, lol' go fuck yourselves. fructose elicits a different insulin response than mainlining table sugar straight into your fat ass. if all carbs were created equal, eating a tree would be good for you.

take fish oil. this will increase insulin sensitivity (as will excluding starches and refined carbohydrates). this will change the way your body uses the energy you ingest. preferentially turns it into glycogen rather than fat.

lift heavy wieghts. you want to stimulate muscle growth because this requires protein synthesis, which burns an enourmous amount of energy and can last up to 48 hours. straight cardio does not require this sort of recovery and does not use as much energy because of this.

????

profit.

I don't really eat stuff like chocolate and icecream. My daily food consumption is something along the lines of

3 glasses of skimmed (1% fat) milk a day
Lasagne / Pasta / 1 Burger with lettuce / 2 hotdogs for dinner (No, not all in 1 day, I mean those are the things I eat for dinner over different days)
For lunch 2 hamsandwhiches with light fat mayo
A sandwhich for breakfast.

Any tips on how far / long to run or swim for

I don't eat out too often. I think my problem is I really just sit by the PC all day, literally. Only time I leave the PC is to go to the toilet, cook, or maybe once or twice a week go out to town to look for a job.

Pasta is your enemy. If you do eat bread, whole grain. For exercise, 20 minutes of cardio three times a week would work for simple weight loss. Just start slow and work your way up.

The problem with the low carb diet is that it is counter productive if you want to do cardio exercise. A low carb diet will reduce your performance drastically. For a non-athleat this translates to you will tire out a lot sooner if you were running/jogging (see pic)
I agree with the building muscles but you should also do a good bit of cardio work.

Whole-grain pastas (Barilla Plus is good) are better than normal pasta. Still, try to shy away.

this is true, carbohydrate level should be adjusted if you're doing a lot of aerobic work. you won't find me disagreeing with you.

but the op wants to loose weight drastically so fuck 'em is what i say. his cardio is not for performance but to mop up any excess energy in his system.

and yeah, as people have said, if you're eating bread you want it as black as possible.

I'm just being hammered in all my ex-phys classes that weight loss of more then 2 pound a week isn't really that healthy. And quick and drastic weight loss that occurs is usually just fluids in the first week or so.
