Where am I now? Anonymous
Sup /fit/, I'm 5'8 and 154 pounds at the moment, I was once 250 at my peak whale stage but that's another matter entirely - Right now I come to ask a simple question, how close am I to completion?

For a long time I've been stuck at the right side of the picture, still flabby and unable to burn the fat, I decided to try the velocity diet and so far a week into it I'm now the left side, not much of a difference.

I regularly do either HIIT or jogging, take an hour long walk morning and night, yet besides that am rarely active due to my work being computer related.

Basically what I want to ask is, what should I do to break my plateau of fat, and how close am I to finally glimpsing my stomach without excess fat?

if you want us to judge you, stop fucking sucking your stomache in.

Also, do SQUATZ and eat oatmeal

HAY /FIT/ I CHANGED MY DIET FOR 7 DAYS AND I EXPECT TO LOOK LIKE AHNOLD!!!111

Turn that hour of walking into an hour of jogging. Start doing calisthenics three times a day.

I was planning to try adding muscle on post-fat loss, or am I doing it wrong?

Muscle consumes fat. I recommend extensive dieting, lifting, and extreme cardio.

Remember, eat healthier, work out more.

doing it wrong. muscle burns fat. just eat a high protein diet eeehhh...mmmmm.. around lets say 2000 kcals, keep the carbs low, keep them around breakfast and peri-workout.

lift heavy compound weights. you might start weighing more but you bodyfat % will decrease.

you could be 180lbs, and just do cardio and get down to 160lbs, but your bodyfat % will probably be higher because of the wasted muscle. you need to stimulate your muscles in order for you body to want to keep them and make them grow. this whole cut/bulk thing is BS for beginners, its more for people who have a muscle base to begin with. people starting out will lose fat and gain muscle on almost any kind of diet if they start lifting weights.

fuck the extreme cardio. weights 3x a week + 2 sessions of HIIT are much more effective. you want you metabolism FAST, so having some muscle to constantly heal and repair and build up speeds up your metabolism. cardio slows it down. the only reason you are doing HIIT on top of this is because you cannot lift heavy weights every single day.

a heavy squat or a deadlift is much more beneficial to burning fat than 30 minutes on a treadmill. look at the old 70s bodybuilders, none of them did cardio, when they wanted to get ripped up, they would just eat less and maybe add a few more workouts with slightly lighter weights

Excuse my retard-level of knowledge concerning weight lifting, but what exactly would compound weight lifting be? I have a few 10, 15, and 20 pounds dumbells sitting around but that's it.
>> Anonymous
>>182494
thats not going to cut it. a compound lift is something that uses multiple muscle. you need to get a gym membership. 3 hours a week.

barbell squat
barbell deadlift
bench press
chinup/pulldown
dip
standing military press
clean

these are compound lifts, they tax your body and elevate your heartrate. after heavy set of deadlifts i am breathing heavily and my heart is racing. its like HIIT with the benefit of building muscle. trust me, weight lifting is usually all you need if you have your diet down pat.

imo cardio is a waste of time. your heart and lungs will get just as strong lifting weights, and you will burn fat easier, and build muscle at the same time.

honestly if you are serious about this i would get the hell off /fit/ asap before stupid people confuse you.

go to www.t-nation.com
articles and community-wise, its #1. there's a lot of ads for their biotest products but just ignore them. the forums on there are amazing. lurk there, hit up the beginners forum, read articles. its all fucking gold

Thanks for the advice, gym is definitely doable as I have more than enough free time to burn. As far as foods go, do you have any specific recommendations as to what to get? or perhaps a list of possible choices?

Bullshit.

the outside ring in the grocery store is safe.
never go into the aisles.

protein sources:
fish/tuna
whole eggs
steak
chicken breast
milk
protein powder
fat free cottage cheese

carb sources
any vegetable
fruit (breakfast/early in the day)
sweet potato
whole grain breads
oats
dextrose (in pwo shake)
rice

healthy fats
fish oil
olive oil
nuts (go easy)
flax seeds
flax oil

these are a few, but there's plenty there to make a diverse diet

i didn't list everything, natural peanut butter is good for example. basically if its packaged or in a box, its usually shit. if there's a list of ingredients on it, its usually shit. this includes all those "healthy" foods that are just marketing schemes. if its man made stay away from it.

like i said, t-nation has TONS of nutritional information,

Indeed, people think that whatever nutrition or workout schedule that they're doing is the best and whatever everyone else is doing is wrong, I swear if this was a /religion/ board and you replaced SQUATZ with JEZUZ, people would still be flaming

there are some things that EVERYBODY should be doing regardless of goals.

i think the biggest fights occur between the people who want to be tiny and slim with abs, and the people who want to be HUEG. the reality is that these extremes don't really exist. It seems to be basically weightlifting vs cardio in this forum. I am on the side of lifting
