Hey /fit/, I've got about 30 pounds I want to lose, been doing the healthy eating and shit. Trouble is I have a bone tumour that, while harmless, gets inflamed and irritating if I run long distances and I'm pretty stuck for exercise ideas that don't involve me shelling out for a gym membership. Help?

Start swimming. I know at most of my local gyms, a just swim membership is only 30 bucks a month, compared with the much higher fee for the entire gym.

Swimming is great for the entire body and it's low impact, so it shouldn't bother your tumour.

go to the local high school or something if you want to swim. most have open swim each morning and night, for maybe a dollar or free.

If he can afford to get one/has access to one. But, yes, recumbent bikes are amazing. I still use mine for 7 minutes as a warmup for any lifting.

OP: As was mentioned, you can probably find a pool to swim in for fairly cheap, if not free.

I don't know about your tumor, honestly, but would something such as DDR be alright? That could work up a mean sweat.

That's actually not a bad idea. I have a mat and game somewhere from when I was a kid. I was thinking something other than swimming, as my only local swimming pool costs something like 7 dollars a session.
