If I'm and working on reducing my bodyfat % (just finished bulking) should I be worried about sodium content in food?I use a lot of salt on my foods and was wondering if this could be detrimental to my goals.
It will effect your blood pressure and your water weight for a day or so.Basically unless you're really old, don't worry about it at all.

I don't know about bodyweight, but using a lot of salt is about the worst thing you can do for blood pressure.
I don't think sodium has much to do with body fat. But it does cause water retention, so you shouldn't have too much.How do you know when you're finished with bulking?

Even if you lose a bunch of fat, a high sodium diet will always keep you looking a little bloated from water retention.FYI, you're only supposed to have about 1/2 a teaspoon of salt per day and if you eat any processed type foods, you're probably already getting that without even factoring in additional salt you sprinkle on your food.

>>198908Yes, it will vary based on what you do, but that's just the recommended amount for the average person based on what the FDA says. If you're supremely athletic, you'd need more...maybe 25% more, but not really that much more.
