I fucking hate glasses. I can't see things three feet front of me without them, but I refuse to wear them because of how shitty they make me look. My vision is starting to deteriorate to the point where things an inch from my face are beginning to blur.
I carry my glasses around in my hoodie pocket and only put them on when I need to see something. When I don't wear a hoodie, I'm fucked.

Contacts seem like the best idea. Problem is, I'm not so comfortable with touching my eyes. I tried putting some on at the eye doctor about two years ago, and failed miserably. I'm going back in a couple of days.

tl;dr: Any tips for making contacts less uncomfortable?

My suggestion: You'd have to have a very specific look for glasses to look bad on you. Try harder to find frames that suit you better if you can't do contacts.

Before you put them in, put saline solution into the contact. About a drop or two. Also, you'll want to widen your eyes as much as possible.

from experience, I'd say just bear with it. dry drops in your eyes, or practice just touching it, although when you have contacts (and you put them in the right way consecutively over say, three days) it gets a whole hell of a lot easier - the feeling of having contacts on your eyes is kinda.. eerie, but then being able to have peripheral vision is fucking sweet.

Seriously, contacts rule.

(I have the month long ones, take out every night, for a month. Shits awesome, and its easy now after three years)

I originally had the same idea about glasses and did the same thing. . . then I got a new frame and I now have 2 pairs of designer frames that look amazing on my face. (Seriously try new frames)

I also wear contacts and had the same initial experience as you with contacts (45 minutes trying to get one in before I could leave the office.. .) Now I've been wearing them for years and they go in extremely easy. I wear mine for way too long though and don't take them out unless needed. . . don't do that

if your vision is going that fast I suggest seeing the optometrist about it. Losing vision like that is not normal.

Use your contacts (soft contacts) and SUCK IT UP FAGGOT.

Do it in front of a mirror, have the contact liquid solution beside you have the contact very wet but have the rest of your hand/arm dry. Also, be very sure to learn which side is the correct side your contacts should be as you put them in. (You don't want to put them in reversed and there are only two sides anyways but learn which side is correct etc.)
Technique:
If right handed put your contact on the pointer finger of your right hand. Use your middle finger s of both hands to open the top and bottom of your eye lids. Get close to the mirror move your pointer finger with the contact on it into your eye move until your contact is in your eye move your contact with your pointer finger around in small circles for three seconds. Then, remove your index finger (if you did it right the contact should stay in your eye) slowly remove your middle fingers that were holding your eyelids open and blink a few times. Do the same thing for the other eye.

I had the same problem as you op. Hang in there.

This is how you can learn to put contacts on before you even go.

Go in the mirror, try to grab your eyelid with your dominating hand, you want to get to the point that your eyelashes are practically tucked under your fingernail.

Once you can master this with both eyes, you cannot FUCKING blink. If you cannot FUCKING blink, The key is not trying to desensitize your eyes to being touched right away, but controlling the problem that controls that reflex.

Once you fucking get your eyelid out of the way, you can fucking poke your eye with a spoon and it can't do jack shit

PROTIP: You get better putting on contacts if do it often

I used to take like 5 minutes in the mirror to put one on

Now it takes me 15 seconds to put both of them on without a mirror

Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I look damn good in my frames. But I will still be getting contacts for sports and swimming and other things where maybe glasses would not be as good of a fit.

Why the fuck would you wear contacts to swim?
