Treadmill vs Elliptical for 40 minute daily sessions?
w/e harder for you
Treadmill any day. I mean, unless you want to pretend to pretend run.
>PRETEND PRETEND PRETEND PRETEND PRETENDIt isn't so much about simulated running as it is calories burned and getting the heart rate up.
could someone explain to me how elliptical is in any way inferior to treadmill? i mean aside from the whole ruining your knees and ankles on the treadmill bit (im flat footed btw)
>>420061yeah dude, dont do treadmill. its not necessary unless you really want to get better at running.but dont rely totaly on elliptical either.it's hard to use proper form and you can fuck your knees/hips up. google proper elliptical form.greatest way to get a good workout thats low impact? Get on your treadmill and set the speed at 3.5 mpgand set the incline on high. you'll never realize how much of a workout walking on the treadmill could be.
>i mean aside from the whole ruining your knees and ankles on the treadmill bitI find that the limiting factor on how hard I can push myself on the treadmill isn't my amount of stamina or exhaustion but the sheer hell of an experience it is for my knees. I can burn far more calories and put forth a lot more effort in the same amount of time on the elliptical.
I have never been on an elliptical but I do run from time to time and the only reason I don't do it more often is because my shins start to burn like hell (due to lack of stretching and lack of muscle in that area)Does /fit/ think an elliptical would be a way to fix that problem?
>elliptical formI just Googled it.. First two hits give completely different and contradictory descriptions of form. One claimed to burn about 440 cals in 30 minutes by upping strides/min to 160.. I usually average about 180-190 strides/min on interval setting and have never managed to get past 400 cals in 40 minutes.Hurray for the internet.
>>420092Stretching and running regularly would fix that problem.
>>420103not all ellipticals are made the same? your form will need to be different for each different machine. also, i can hit 400 cals burned in 40 minutes no problem at all. thats only 10 calories a minute, maybe your doing it wrong.
I'm hardcore, I do both.Elliptical - 30 minutesTreadmill - 15-20 minutesCrossRamp - 35 minutesEvery cardio day, bitches.
why is it everyone acts like cripples when they get on an escalator? I mean they are still fucking stairs!!!! they just move. MAKES ME FUKKIN RAGE!!!!!!!!!!
