Greetings /fit/,

Around the beginning of April I decided to lose some weight. Since then I have lost about 22 lbs, and still have about 20lbs to go.

Just wanted to say lurking around here helps a lot, and it's true that it just takes willpower for a fatty to lose weight easily.

Pic related. Me on april 6th, and me this morning.

Thanks OP.

Tell me about your diet and workout regimen, please.

Good job OP.
That is some mighty quick progress. You look good and healthy too. Looks like there's some muscle under there.

High in proteins such as chicken, fish, nuts, eggs, and beef now and again.

Drinking absolutely nothing other than water (about a gallon or more a day. Basically drinking a water bottle at a steady pace all day.)

Most of my carbohydrates are coming from salad greens, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, cheeses, and nuts.

I started out with 20 minutes of Hiit every other day. I've now reduced it to a light jog since my work is getting harder for the summer and I get a great workout there every day.

Nuts are pretty high in calories & fat though, im trying to avoid them (im basically doing the same as you), lost 40lb in around 3 months, 40lb left to go.

Forgot to add good work though. I wish i'd taken a picture at the beginning to compare.

Nuts are high in *good* fats, which are filling and help control your appetite. I've heard of a lot of people effectively using nuts as part of a weight los regimen.

All you did for exercise was HIIT for 20 minutes?

Well I do like a 30-40 minute walk every other night (which I plan to do every night). How effective is this? I hardly break a sweat so I don't imagine that it's that effective. I used to do 30 minutes of walking and running alternating every minute or two. The thing is, I stopped with that running because the bone in my calves were hurting. So what should I do /fit/? Walking doesn't really get me going, but running and walking at intervals hurts my calf bones. Advice would be appreciated.

Swimming is the best alternative for anything cardio related. Less strain on joints and bones and everything.

Yah, but when you're fat, showing off your body isn't such a great idea.

Buy a cross trainer. Less pressure on joints and it still works you like a dog after 40 mins a day.

More info here:

*it states it works upper and lower body, though im a skeptic, so i doubt the upper body workout is much. I do upper body training outside the cross trainer.

If it hurts to do it outside, then do it either on an elliptical like the guy mentioned earlier or on an exercise bike. Also, if you do find yourself able to run again, find a nice padded track to use rather than sidewalk or street.

I think I'll just go to the park and run on the grass? I think that's padded enough.

I like this thread...So...antisage.

Fantastic work OP, any chance you can post say a meal plan, I've been eating:

Bowl of Cereal in the morning
Yogurt 3 hours later
Chicken breast with lettuce, onions and mushrooms for my lunch
Yogurt 3 hours later
Same as Lunch for Supper

I work long hours every day, so I don't really have a typical meal plan. If I had to describe it though:

Breakfast: Two egg omelet with some lowfat cheddar cheese, two small strips of bacon, a slice of whole grain toast if i have time.

Lunch: A baked chicken breast with two small drumsticks, and a green salad with oil and vinegar, no dressings or croutons.

Dinner: Fish, chicken, beef (any protein), with a side vegetable (onions, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.).

Snacks between meals: A handful of Walnuts or Almonds, a can of tuna, a banana or avocado, pepperoni slices with some cheddar.
It's really not a complicated way of eating. It's just about second nature to me now. Just cannot stress the importance of water enough. If you're not pissing clear every half hour, your not drinking the right amount.
