/fit/, advise me.

I'm a female *gasp* and I've been doing weights recently. Normally, after a cardio workout, I have no appetite and the thought of food makes me cringe. Since weight lifting boosts the fuck out of your metabolism, I've wound up needing to eat monstrous piles of food to feel satisfied.
Any way to curb that feeling...?

That's odd, I'm always hungry after a workout, whether it's weights or cardio. Just stick to your meal plan, I can't really give you advice on how to control cravings.
>> Anonymous
try drinking a lot of water afterwards to feel full
>> Anonymous
do more cardio (3-4 hours straight) and eat the extra food.

specifically, weight train, followed by eating food, followed by cardio.

doing weight training after like 4 hours of aerobic is difficult, both mentally and physically.

There's nothing wrong with eating a lot if you're hungry. Just make sure that what you're eating isn't total garbage (e.g. fast food.)

OP: an hint~

it takes 20min. for the chemicals/blood sugar whatever it is to tell your brain that you are 'full,' i donno exactly how it works out with the blood sugar levels telling the brain you're full...but 20min is the magic number. also, eat SLOWLY, and drink lots of water :]

*gasping is not necessary. we welcome females here. I just wish those who don't realize they're trolling would realize it.

i suppose the real underlying point is, as F?, you're worried about increasing size and weight from that extra food. with the high increase in hunger, comes a high increase in food-burning. that's what metabolism is about. you'll burn up those calories and expend them at an increased rate, just making that muscle. also, by having ? higher muscle on your body, you'll burn more fat stored as well. you will convert to fat, for storage, less often.

this is the natural thing to happen. your expending lot more energy, so now you need a lot more energy.

which leads into the second real point. which foods? what kinds of foods are you eating to satiate this increased hunger? i hope it's not just fast food. that will fill you up the easiest, but is the worst kind of food for you. That's the last choice you want to build your new awesome strong muscles with. I'll be checking here for a few hours if you post back.

Hey OP eating often and eating the right things are actually a way to make your metabolism even faster! Just make sure youre eating the right things and watching your carb intake. The cardio releases the hormones that tell your body "HEY MOTHER FUCKER WE ARE BURNING CALORIES OVER HERE FEED ME"

OP here.

It was mostly fruit, protein bars and an entire chicken.
The whole thing.
Somewhere around 80 ounces.

I know it's because I'm building muscle, but the sheer volume of it is starting to catch up with me. On an average day I eat about 700-800 calories thanks to Concerta, so I'm a bit worried about what eating 2390 calories will do compared to what I'm used to.

Also, thank GOD this isn't /b/.

700-800 calories a day is barely even enough to live on O_O

Apparently it's enough to maintain 140 lbs. on, let alone live.

800 calories is far far far too little. If you've been doing this a while you're already deep into starvation mode.

If you want to lose weight, as a gurl you should be eating less than 2000, but I wouldn't go under 1500. I'd suggest slowly ramping up your cals to 1600 or so and keep doing cardio.
>> Anonymous
AFAIK the average person consumes around 2000 calories a day, don't they? 800 just seems ridiculous

If you can't lose weight at 800 cals/day, it's because your body thinks there is a famine going on and is doing everything it can to prevent you from losing weight.

The best way to lose fat weight is to have a mild caloric deficit and do lots of fat-burning cardio.

I know, I know... but I feel like I physically can't eat more than that, at least most of the time. This is the second time it's happened to me this month, and I don't plan on making it a habit since I've been doubled over in pain for the past three hours.

Rather than eating more, I thought I would just try to increase my metabolism through weight training. However, I'm not so sure how that's going to work after tonights episode.

I don't know about ADHD, so I can't say much of anything about Concerta.

I'd say you've been starving yourself. It's not really self-recognizable, the body does amazing things (sacrifices) to survive. I would rather you eat 2000 cal working out, than 800 without. That's far too little.

The minimum energy necessary to just lie there in a bed all day is 1400. I'm calculating with averages, for your exact caloric needs, we need three numbers: age, height, weight. But won't vary much, it will still be very close 1400 cal/day, whatever numbers are given.

By eating so little, you're basically causing your metabolism to stop. (as in, turning off the furnace). Nothing gets burned. You are killing your ability to burn food as most of it gets converted to fat once you start eating again.

So is this anorexia? No, not quite. A true anorexic can eat 200-500 cal per day. A big thing with this group of people is "·To be hungry and not eat is mastering their body·" This is their mantra. You're not quite there, but almost.

The most important solution to this is exercise. That's what's breaking you out of your undernourishment habits. You're creating a huge need for energy, you can still be fit and healthy, and eat more. You will burn up "lots" of this if you just keep on weight training.

Please, keep it up. Don't stop. Keep going. Keep exercising. Get strong. Get stronger. "Fit" people burn through lots of energy. Your resting metabolic rate (burning rate) will ? increase, even when sitting doing absolutely nothing you'll burn more.

Those last three words have so much condensed meaning. OP, I need to ask you this directly. How much weight are you willing to put on, for health, for fitness, for fashion, for friends? I'm not sure what response I can give if you give me any kind of ceiling. I don't think I can give any advise there, if that's the case. I don't believe you will "balloon". I think it will be a "small" change. Can you try it, see how it goes? It could very well go down, it depends.

Don't turn off the furnace.

I would say your body just isn't used to that much food. It's been a long time since it's had that much (or has ever). That happened to me once, I willingly starved for a long time (8+ hours counting inventory) and hurried fast the entire time. I drank 1 sip from a pop at the end, I freaking keeled over in pain, had to sit for 15 minutes. I learned my lesson. For me, it's to take breaks and eat food more often in smaller quantities. Don't save it all up for once. That's the dangerous part.

Wow. That's my longest post here ever.

I probably shouldn't have said "killing". It throws off the pace of the whole post. That part was copy pasted from the web, I wasn't sure until I read it up. Just substitute a softer word, like "slowing down" instead. OK? Sorry again for the long ass post.

Wow, you guys do cardio for 3-4 hours straight? Shit...I only run for an hour everyday straight....I really need to step it up
