Anyone else had trouble keeping up with their recommended calorie intake once they dropped sugary soft drinks?

Before wanting to get in shape, probably 1/3-1/4 of my calories came from soda. Now that I stopped drinking it all together and only water, I actually have to eat more than what I did before. It's weird that in order to stay fit now, I have to eat more instead of less.

Today, I had 3 meals and I still have dinner left. First was two fried eggs with a couple tortillas, a small piece of cheese, and a banana. (500 calories). Then I had a couple waffles with syrup and margarine (450 calories). Then two baked whole chicken wings with a couple tortillas and beans. (450 calories). Dinner later on should be around 700 calories. That will be a total of 2000 calories at the end.

Since I'm generally sedentary on the weekend. I walked for 25 minutes in the treadmill to make up for that. That's 180 calories burned right there. I'm also about to run 4 miles for my main cardio routine I do daily so that's another 500 calories burned. Subtracting the calories eaten from the calories burned on the treadmill, that's 1320 calories. To keep my weight I apparently have to eat 2500 calories per day so my calorie deficit is too high.

I don't feel like I'm starving myself at all. I feel nice and full so I can't really eat more solid foods. So I'm thinking I should drink liquids with calories now instead of always water. What healthy drinks would you recommend in order to raise my calorie intake?

I'm 5'7, 145 lbs, and male btw.

Milk and protein shakes.

Both will add protein and good calories.

The food pyramid is inherently flawed. They don't make any distinction between good and bad carbs. A piece of wonderbread is listed as the same value as a piece of high fiber/protein multigrain bread. All fats are also considered equal when they are clearly not. Good fats, like organic olive oil, flak seeds, fish oil ect are not the same as just easting a cookie or piece of cake as the good fats are a key part of boosting your metabolism and keeping you in shape where as eating cookies doesnt do shit. Also, beans are listed with meat... lolwut? Beans have no place with meats, as although they do give you a decent amount of protein, they also contain a lot of other vital staples of your diet that meats lack and thus can be eaten even if you already had your full protein intake for the day.

Also this whole chart is absurd as everyone needs different calorie intakes depending on their genetics and lifestyles (I mean if you are a body builder or a runner as opposed to just an average joe, i am not making concessions for fat asses)

tl;dr All you need to eat is cookies

Would 500-600 calories a day from OJ or some other non-HFCS juices be okay?

it is recommended that you eat five fruits and/or vegetables a day. try to focus on the vegetables, fruits are sugary so really should be kept to only one or two a day.
