Sup, /fit/.
Now that I'm out of my teens, I'm rapidly realizing that the fast metabolism that allowed me to eat whatever and rarely exercise while maintaining a slim figure is beginning to slow down. Over the past year I've developed somewhat of a pouchy stomach, as well as as the beginnings of what would probably be love handles. I decided that summer is the best time to start a new lifestyle, and try to get my body into a more healthy/attractive place, so yesterday was my first day at the gym. I went with a friend of mine and we spent a little over two hours going through various free weight/machine exercizes; I basically did everything he did. We worked upper body, lower body, and core, all in the same day. Today I feel pretty sore, albeit satisfied knowing where my pain comes from.
My question:
Is it bad to work all of your muscle groups every time you work out, or is it better to change it up, ie: Upper Body Monday, Core Wednesday, Lower body Friday?

Pic kind of related: it's a body I'd be more than pleased with attaining.
