Hey /fit/

I've recently resolved to lose weight and get into better shape. I've been going to the gym for about a month and half now and I've been doing compound lifts (SQUATZ, DEADLIFTZ, ect) and some light cardio. Since I started I definitely feel better and I have noticed that my arms and chest have gotten a little bigger and that my jeans also fit better.

However, I've been reading this board and other places and some people say that beginners/novices who are flabby should really be concentrating on heavy cardio and eating less/healthier and then start getting into lifting once they've lost a lot of fat. I've also heard people say the exact opposite, that if you're trying to lose weight you should also incorporate compound weights into your workout because that builds muscle and simply maintaining muscle burns calories on its own.

Basically, what I want to know is, amidoinitrite? And if not, what should I do?

you're doinitrite. universally cardio + weight training will do you good. the only concern i've read was meant for novices who were morbidly obese; that they do cardio that won't damage their joints.

However no matter how heavy you are, putting on muscle will help with your weight loss.
