Getting Unfat lol Anonymous
/fit/, I am turning into a fucking fatass. You would never guess it seeing me clothed, but fuck I feel shitty about myself. 181lbs, no idea what my % is.

I am trying to start the "diet" where you eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones to increase metabolism.

My pitiful excuse for a workout session is walking 4 miles a day (jogging too hard or long will blow my kneecap out), doing about 50 situps and a sad 20 pushups, as many as I can do. Every other day I do 3x20 bicep curls with 25lb weights.

My question is, why does this workout suck and how can I improve it, what kind of shit should I be eating for this new diet, and how can I do pullups at home?

And I apologize in advance for making another "oh god /fit/ I'm so fat help me" thread, but I feel like each situation is unique to someones fatrage.

The workout isnt that bad to start off with, actually pretty good as a begginners program. Dont worry too much about weights to put on muscle, as thats damn near impossible to do as you lose weight, but keep doing some weights so's you dont lose all your muscles.

As for what kinda foods, Tuna, Skinless chicken, salads, wholegrains, all these are good. Just make sure your 5 meals are smaller than they would be if you were just doing 3.

90% of weightloss, initally at least, comes from diet. Just keep in a calorie deficiant state, and your body will do the rest.

Good luck!

Thanks. I think what I'm going to do is use this to my advantage and decrease my caloric intake, which is probably way higher than my weight maintenance level now.

Perhaps do some hard biking instead, which will help my knee too. Will keep up the weight lifting but drag it down to 15 lbs just to maintain the muscles and tone them a bit more, doing more reps. More situps, pushups and eventually find somewhere to do pullups.

I highly approve of biking. Low impact and depending on the gearing good cardio or good strength training.

the lower weights will help with endurance. I've heard that and it makes sense to me... so good job with that.

the 3 meals are kidna sorta the same as before... the 3 main meals are not tiny, but the 2 extra meals are like a handfull of nuts or grapes or something light. just enough to keep the metabolism going constantly.

Good luck anon!

OH YEAH! be sure not to reduce it too much... starving your muscles is just as bad as eating too much... worse, I'd almost want to say.

Yeah, didn't want to do it by too much. 1-2 lbs would be nice a week.

Good to know biking might be better, as my knee can barely take the 4 miles walking. Lack of cartilate FTL.

This board is so much more hospitable than any other on 4chan. I'm completely new to this so I appreciate the advice/well wishings =)

In return, lulz.

So it's come to my attention that my plan here might be flawed. I've been reading around and some people have said that building muscle while losing fat is a bad idea.

Is this true? I'm not necesarily doing that but the weight lifting will still do some toning. Might be more of an issue if I were doing more than bicep curls.

I build muscle while losing fat. Nothing wrong with that.

No, it's a very good idea - just not easy. Muslce increases your basal metabolic rate, so you will lose fat faster if you gain muscle tissue. You need a low calorie, high protein diet. Tuna, skinned chicken and whey protein will all help.

With your weights, go for compound exercises as much as possible, ie ones that work muscle groups, not individual muscles such a with curls. Have a look at www.exrx.net

Thanks, it looks like it has a lot of great info on it. I'll take a good long look at the Beginners Page.

I'm not a real fan of tuna, but never given it a try, but other fish is good. The best part is I work at a grocer, so it won't be a pain in the ass to buy the food.

I think there is a website that helps you create a meal schedule or something like that, any clues as to what it might be?
