dear /fit/

how does one get energized for workout?
currently I workout an hour after I wake up on an empty stomach and I usually get exhausted before I can finish the last set.
what should I eat / drink to get a good amount of energy?
the thing is I want something natural not some energy drink or shakes etc.
so what do you guys do?

steel cut oatmeal, 1 egg beaten with about 2 eggs worth of egg white substitute added with whatever leftovers turned into awesome omelette for breakfast with loads of water, work out 1 hour later.

eat like a king for breakfast, eh for lunch and veggies and fruit for dinner.

I usually just have a cup of tea and eat a muffin.

A pice of fruit maybe a cup of coffee.
BTW OP are you weight training heavily in the mornings or just aerobic exercise?

Does that go for running as well?

That depends on what you're running for.

I'm running just because I like to. Eventually, I'd like to be able to do 5/10K runs, but I'm not in a rush.

Eat something real light like a sandwich or yogurt type thing 1-2 hours before workouts but no later.

I usually have egg whites in the fridge just toss them in a microwave for a minute and they're ready. eat with one slice bread and some low fat cheddar cheese.
