Last winter I was also taking acne medication (isotretinoin) and I ended up applying chapstick at least 2 to 3 times a day. After I showered in the morning and brushed my teeth, then at a random time during the day that I deemed necessary, and then again when I went to bed after brushing my teeth.
Basically, I was addicted to chapstick by the time March/April arrived. If I didn't get it, my lips dried out HARDCORE.
Then my isotretinoin schedule ended in August, and I forced myself to stop with the chapstick. It actually happened on its own after a few days, when I realized that when I applied chapstick out of habit (like after a shower), it seemed too moist and unecessary. I now only use it once a week or so when it's unusually windy and cool out, but that's normal.
tl;dr Chapstick is not for daily use.
