better idea: ride a bike like you were participating in the Race Across America. they ride about 22 hours per day, for roughly 10 days straight (they get 1.5-2 hours of sleep per day). they burn through about 8000 calories in a given day. by the end of the race, they're starting to eat into their muscle because they've run so low on fat. it takes about 3-4 months to recover fully from the race, i.e. build the muscle back, etc.
