DDR any good? Anonymous
I recently purchased DDR Universe: 2 and am wondering if it's good for cardio and losing fat? I play at the normal level right now, maybe eventually higher. I planned on doing an hour a day of this.

You think it will do well for me?

DDR is awesome cardio- it shouldn't be your ONLY means.
I lost a lot of weight from DDR, but I eventually reached a plateau and had to include gym exercises too. Still, it's great because it gets you in the habit of being active, and that's what's important.

Its decent when you get to the higher levels, but that can take a while.

I am also DDRing for health, just remember to get your heart rate up and keep it up in other words don't spend to long selecting challenging songs

and oh yeah warm up first or build up to the tougher songs or your legs will mutiney

Once you can get to about twenty solid minutes of 7-9 step songs its just like jogging

just be sure to rest by doing easier songs and not by stopping

Its good as long as you aren't bar raping the whole song

bar raping? What does that mean?

DDRs the reason i can throw 400+ pounds in the air like its nothing with my calves.

if you keep it up for a long time, ie year or so, expect huge calves and thighs.

its a term in the DDR community where a person just leans on the bar at a DDR machine while doing the song, so they don't have actually stand while hitting the arrows

Ahh ok. I don't have a bar and won't be leaning on anything while playing so it shouldn't be a problem.
