the knocking 2-4 inches off your waist is geared primarily toward bodybuilders who work towards those massive ravioli abs. It causes their stomachs distend and stick WAY out even though theres no fat and you can clearly see the muscles.

however, its similar to sucking your gut in to try to fit into pants you've recently outgrown.
