HI /fit/!!!

So I have acne problems and would like to know...What are you using to get clear???

I've tried everything. Clearasil, Dermatologists, Proactiv, the list keeps going, I'm getting old, and still they won't LEAVE! It's been years, and I've even forgotten how my face looked like when it was clear.
Another problem is, I have Oily skin and I can't find any way to clear that up too >:(

What does anon do to clear this up, and also, can someone explain this "dip" method? I know what it consits of but what do you do b4 and after the method?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!
>> Anonymous
you've tried accutane and you still have acne?

keep your hair out of your face

this is weird, but i got the idea of pouring a little bit of mouthwash on a cloth and dabbing my face with that (then rinsing) in between washing and moisturizing, and it actually helped a lot. for oily skin it would probably help, but it would fucking murder dry skin

The Acne.org regimen does wonders for me so far. I've had times where I went 2-3 days without this stuff, and my face turned to horrid, and after 24 hours of doing it in the morning and before bed, I was 50% more presentable. Make sure to keep your face moisturized. If you dry out your skin with peroxide and don't moisturize, you'll clog your pores more and they'll start over-producing oil. Make sure your lotion is noncomedogenic.

bitches love my face wipes and aloe vera sleeping mask.

note: I didn't go 3 days without washing, but regular soap = sub, sub, sub par.

Change your pillowcase frequently, like, use one side for one day, the other side for the next day, then throw it in the laundry. Obviously, you'll need more than one pillowcase, but there can be alot of dead skin and buildup on there.

The good thing is about this program is that the peroxide is at 2.5%. When you put it on, it doesn't sting and damage as much as proactive. It'll make your face feel very strange and almost cakey, but the moisturizer improves that immensely.

Cause we all sleep face down into our pillow? I hate hearing this bullshit.

DIP METHOD

1. fill a basin up with hot water (hot, but not so hot its going to boil your face off)

2. let face soak 3-6 min... repeat 1-3 times per day

soaking in the hot water opens your pores and the water cleans and flushes all of that shit out. all done naturally, without smearing your face with harmful chemicals.

I had acne for years and used a bazillion different products, all which are total fucking bullshit, and nothing worked until the dip method. my acne is gone now. its worth a try if you are looking for something.

i do dip method in the morning after i take a shower for 3-6 minutes, depending how rushed I am.

when i first started and still had bad acne, i would dip again mid-day or at least wash my face with water, usually for 1-3 min. I skip this step now, as my acne has basically cleared up.

another 3-6 minutes at night before i go to sleep, usually 6 minutes.

you'll get good a holding your breath after awhile. I used to have to come up every 20-30 seconds, now i can hold my breath pretty fucking easily for 1:30-2:00 minutes.

keep the water hot, your face should have a red tint to it when you are done. making the water TOO hot could irritate your skin or burst a blood vessel. dont make the water just warm though. keep it hot.

when you are soaking, you can move your face around to get the water moving around. you can also make faces for a bit to open/close pores.

I have heard of people adding epson salt to their dip, I never tried that and didn't really need to. (CONT)...

(CONT)...dont use any chemicals and shit while you are doing this. your face wasnt meant to be smeared with that junk. many of the ingrediants in acne face washes are the same as dish detergents. its harsh stuff. dip method is nice and natural.

your face/lips might dry out at first while your skin is adjusting. if it is, you might want to try less dips/less time. My face never had a problem with drying, but my lips sometimes did. I would just put some chapstick on before I went to sleep at night, and sometimes in the morning. Not a problem.

Some people report a bunch of little white crap comming out of their pores at first, and some people report a bunch of little red bumps that sometimes occur when first starting. this is attributed to the skin finally being able to flush all the gunk in your pores and skin out thats been building up. these things stop after a little bit.

My skin looked and felt so much better once I started. Within a month, I was definatly seeing results. After a year, my acne was basically cleared up. I still get a little pimple every now and then, but NOTHING like my face was before i started (really bad acne and bad cystic acne- I havnt gotten any cystic acne at all since starting dip)

Of course, I have read of people reporting that this method didnt work for them (and have read many success stories as well). At any rate, it is certainly worth a try. Worked for me!

dude wtf- i almost drowned. not cool.
>> Anonymous
I've been using a pre-shower smearing of Head and Shoulders on my back and neck for a few days now and am seeing results.
>> Anonymous
The first thing you need to do is NOT TO TOUCH TEH PIMPLES. Because if you scar yourself now, it ain't gonna matter much even if you successfully clear them later.

You can try steaming your face twice a day. I was hit by adult acne, but I curbed it in the early stages. You can buy specially built machines like this

http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=3786861

or just boil a pan of water, dump it all in a basin, position face over rising steam and use a towel to seal it. Just watch out for the starting few seconds cause teh steam is really hot.

For added effect, I put 3 drops of tea tree oil in it, and wash my face using cleansers with tea tree oil extract.

Try Clinique.

would you do a cold water soak afterwards to close up the pores? cause it seems like they'd just be gaping open by now...
>> Anonymous
not OP

but what about chest / back acne?
or should i just use benzoil peroxide or whatever it is
>> Anonymous
>>60455
it's a different situation because your skin is probably a little tougher in those places. In this case, you could probably use the harsher methods (proactiv = high % peroxide) without doing damage. Hot showers can open up these pores as well.
>> anonymous
i found that if i drink like 2 litres of water a day its much much better
>> Anonymous
>>60459
well i do normally take hot showers, and would any high % peroxide work?

and do i just put it on and leave it or wash it off?
>> Anonymous
I've never had acne in my life but I don't see why something so simple as spraying oven cleaner on your face wouldn't work.

If your acne is really bad you could lance all your pimples and stuff and then pour hydrogen peroxide on your face.

Only a fool would take this advice.
>> Anonymous
>>60463
Obviously don't go for the pure stuff. Stick to 5-10%. Be warned though, you will probably need to use a non clogging moisturizer if you want to keep your pores from clogging up worse.
>> Guil
acne.org, don't listen to anything until you figure out what type of acne you have how severe. Also quit changing your fucking routine, because I know you do. It takes some people over a year on a regimen to clear their face. At least give it 5 months before saying it's not working.

>your face wasnt meant to be smeared with that junk. many of the ingrediants in acne face washes are the same as dish detergents, now excuse me while i brush my teeth, use mouthwash, and put product in my hair
sage worthy.

Urine. Splash it on your face in the morning and leave it for ten minutes. You should see results in a week.

dont take hot showers you want to take warm ones. hot water only dries out the skin and if u arent moisturizing it makes you get more acne. that also goes for your chest and back

To effectively counter acne, you must open the closed pores, sterilize the pores, and then close them. Makes sense, and it works.

To open the pores, you can use a few methods. The ideal method would be to use a pad that's made for facial use, but a VERY light sandpaper would also work. You must scrub very hard to open the pores.

Now, you want to sterilize the pores from the bacteria that is feeding from the oils in your skin. However, if you dry out your skin too much, you body will produce MORE oils, making more acne. The solution: Olive Oil.

Yes, olive oil. I was hesitant at first too, but it definitely works. The same chemical that makes raw olives extremely bitter is also an active solvent, which is why it tastes like shit, and as you should know, solvents get rid of oils.

Pour a small amount of olive oil in your hand and apply to your face immediately after scrubbing with the sandpaper. After about a minute of rubbing, you'll need to close the pores.

To close the pore, dunk your head into a bucket or sink full of ICE COLD water, or jump in the shower. The temperature is key, as the cold closes your pores.

And, you're done! I've been doing this daily for years, and I haven't had a single zit.

i never rinsed with cold after dip method. i guess its worth a try if you want.
>> Anonymous

how'd you figure that out

salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide do shit for me.
try sulfur. Go to CVS or something pick yourself some sulfur in it. Queen Helene Mint Julep masque is one. (it doesn't smell like rotten eggs at all. Minty, rather, like the name suggests.) I like using it as a spot treatment, and as an allover masque.

the dip method works very well , but i use dermatologist medecines that bring the gunk out of your skin,a nd I also use a foam gel cleanser that cleans it out works wonders. just using water won't cut it it's like taking a bath and not using soap imo. or washing your hair with just water :/
>> Anonymous
I'm telling you this from the perspective of someone who's tried literally fucking everything.

Use accutane.

Fuck the dip method, fuck everything else.

Accutane is your only fucking hope if your acne is that stubborn. Especially if you have chest/back acne, simple put, nothing else is strong enough to take care of it.

Get daily scrub, worked wonders for me :)

Any natural methods for oily skin? I can't see how applying olive oil to my face will make it less oily.
>> Anonymous
>>61749
Non comedogenic moisturizer after you wash your face. I use cetaphil.

The reason this makes your skin less oily is your skin is already moisturized. Your skin produces oil to keep your skin moisturized/hydrated.

i wouldnt use accutane
sometimes lots of life long permanent side affects
night blindness, dry skin, super dry lips, in rare cases mental problems

they dont even KNOW how the shit works. it just works, sometimes. Im sure as fuck not going to use shit that they dont even know how/why the fuck its working. fuck that.

Accutane.

What would you prefer? Spending all this time doing daily dips, or popping a few pills a day. Sure there are some side effects (dry lips, night vision, babies born without brains) but the results are worth it.
>> Anonymous
yeah, dont get someone pregnant or get pregnant yourself while on accutane, because your baby is going to be FUCKING TRIPPING BALLS SHITTED-UP

that should be enough reason alone not to take that poison.

Cut off face.

Go to a doc... ask about Oxytetracycline. Then clean face with a cleanser every morning and before you go to bed, alternatively, dip your face in fairly hot water for 1-4 mins... the heat will open up pores and lift dirt out.
>> Anonymous
>>61881
I'm pretty sure they know how it works. You're an idiot.
>> Anonymous
Get a regular sleep cycle, where you go to bed every night and wake up every morning at the same time. Get sunlight at least 15 minutes a day. Don't pick at your face, if you get a zit, man up and suffer through the humiliation and let the acne medicine do its job.

Melatonin is produced only in pitch black, and is essential for healthy skin. The sun produces a wavelength that destroys the bacteria that help cause acne. Picking at your zits causes the pore to get reinfected.

I've found my own regiment that works pretty well for my face, to the point where it's mostly cleared up with only 1 or 2 very small pimples at a time and clear/dry everywhere else.

My back/shoulders are a different issue and are fucking ridiculous to try and take care of. I'm not being lazy, it's just a lot of skin in an awkward place to reach. Is there any way I could get a lower dosage Accutane without going through prescriptions and all that shit?

I've started taking 5000 IU of Vitamin A twice a day before meals, because I heard that can help a lot(accutane is a Vitamin A derivative). Does anyone have any other medicinal suggestions?
>> Anonymous
whenever I get zits, I pop em as soon as possible and get EVERYTHING out....but I only get zits around my mouth nose and brow....what should I do?

NO

Despite what US adverts tell you, never ask a doctor for specific medication. Always describe your problem and ask him to recommend something.

Oxytetracycline is pretty effective (I was on it and it cleared my face well) but it can also have some bad side effects.

The doctor may be able to reccomend a drug that will work better for you.
