hey /fit/,

the beginning of this month I actually began to go out and actually exercise instead of sitting on my ass all day. I'm about 6 feet and 314 lbs, I've been using the elliptical for 30 mins at 2mph, then a bit of weight training (switching between upper and lower body on diff days) for an hour, then back on the ellip for another 30 mins. I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to burn more fat.

and just if you were gonna ask, my diet consist of about 1 1/2 cup of ceral w/ 1/2 cup of bananas & 1 1/2 cup of soy milk for breakfast. Lunch usually consist of whatever the cook makes at work, and I usually eat very small portions because the plates are tiny (I work at a day care), and then for lunch is either just a salad w/ some broiled chicken. Usually I have pizza or chinese take-out on very rare occasions.

dont eat soy
it will make your fat ugly man tits even bigger
you'd think you couldn't get even more hideous, but in fact it is quite likely if you add sweat and male D-cups

good call anon.

soy is fucking poison.

eat more protein. eat more pumpkin. and broccoli. eat whole eggs. if you're a tremendous athlete, up to five or more a day. if not, max of three should be good. this should be your breakfast, don't even bother with cereal.

plan for two medium sized meals at night when you get home. aim for a total of 5-6 meals. stop eating starch and refined carbohydrates.

maybe check out tnation.com. they have their moments.

You'd be surprised at how much simply walking would do for you. Not trying to knock you, just saying everyone's gotta start somewhere.

Try to eat more frequently during the day. If you want to burn fat, intensity is more important that time. You won't burn nearly as much going 2 mph as you will at 4 as you will at 6, etc. I recognize you are just starting out, but try upping the speed. The shit cooked for kids is usually complete shit, stick to vegies for your carbs and reduce your fat intake. Try to limit yourself to about 2500 calories a day for a start. Occasional bad food is no biggy, but try and limit it to once a month.

The big thing is intensity though. Intensity and don't overdo it. If you start too much too fast you're going to quit. Trust me, I used to way 325 and I've lost 65 pounds so far, and still losing. Intensity intensity intensity. But don't hurt yourself. Also, how many days a week do you work out? If you go three, do lifting then cardio. Don't do cardio lifting cardio. If you go 6 (shouldn't be going more than this) then do one day cardio, one day lifting, and take the 7th day as a rest day. There's no reason to work out more than an hour at a time.

That's too much. You need to go six, rest on the 7th, and not go for as long. Alternate between cardio and weight lifting and again, concentrate on intensity. If you wear yourself out on cardio and then lift weights, you arn't giving weights maximum effort, which means muscle building will be lessened and muscle helps burn fat. Also, your body needs time to recover between workouts. If you lift on Monday and again on Tuesday, the work you did Monday was worthless.

make sure you lift weights BEFORE you do cardio
