History: Was 320 lbs 1 year ago. This explains all the extra skin. I've been riding my bike 18 miles 6 days a week in ~80 minutes. It started off hard but it's pretty easy now. I've been lifting weights 2-3 times a week for 8 months.

Thats impressive dropping from 320, the only problem I see really is that the loose skin is going to be a pain in the ass. Other than that nice prgression keep up the hard work

In light of the fact that you lost over a 100 pounds, I'd say the amount of loose skin you have is really not bad at all. It's really only noticeable on your pecs, and even there it's not that bad. I have a feeling the skin on your pecs will snap back into place within a year or so. And even if it doesn't, you can always build up your pecs to fill in the area.

Before I would eat nonstop. I would eat until the food was gone, not until I was full. I would also drink half a fucking gallon of soda a day while playing WoW. I'd spend all my time playing WoW and shit and other computer games. Hungry mans we're pretty fucking good, too.

From the start of the weight loss to a few months in I went into a cold-turkey style diet. 900-1300 calories a day. I got a job that required hard fucking work all the goddamn time (cart boy at targay) and yeah. When I lost 60 lbs I looked in the mirror and didnt notice a goddamn difference. In my eyes I looked the same. Around october I got a gym subscription and upped my food intake. My diet consisted of cereal with skim milk, salad, beef jerky and raw lunch meat. Granted it would make any nutritionist cringe, it seemed to work.

Now I eat a lot of fruit. I cant afford beef jerky, but I still eat lunch meat + sourdough bread (5g protein a slice, fuck!) sandwiches. No mayo, no cheese, no bullshit. 1400-2200 calories a day, usually going by 'am I hungry?'

I started doing cardio a month or two ago. Starting was the hardest part. I would go on walks, then longer walks, then longer walks, leading up to 2-3 hour walks. I then moved to bike riding cause its m'favorite. I now do 18 mile bike rides a day.

Don't get me wrong. This was fucking hard and did a number on me. Around phase 1 I would accidentally binge then get depressed and puke it up. I cut that shit out a long time ago, though. Also, do to low calorie intake I used to nearly pass out just by going from a prone -> standing position.

Now I feel different. Stuff I used to like tastes like bullshit to me. Soda tastes like syrup and sugar drinks just taste too goddamn sweet. I look forward to my bike rides every day, and it is very relaxing, especially with my ipod. My heart rate is ~56 bpm resting and I stand up straight because I'm not afraid to show off my body. I have more self confidence and feel like I am worth something.

I also drink lots of skim milk, protein powder (cheap ass shit, $7 for a tub), sometimes beef jerky, lean lunch meat and sourdough bread (5g protein a slice).

Sometimes I feel like having lean cuisines or healthy choice frozen entrees. Some of the meals, like the paninis have 300 calories and 23g of protein. shits nice. cheap, too

I just started here, just started getting into fitness. I dunno what happened. One day I realized I was getting VERY fat. I didn't exercise and sat on my ass every day for about four years.

I immagined terrible things: me in a couple years, gaining weight at the same rate, one of those people who are cripplingly fat, so fat that it prohibits them from actually doing anything about it. I saw that I was coming close to a point of no return.

So I started to walk, really gradually increasing the pace. Now I speedwalk as fast as I can four times a week, in combination with strength training. I am just starting to alter my diet.

This has started to become an obsession. A good obsession. In the beginning, when I wasn't even really trying hard, I doubled the amount of pushups and situps I could do!

I still am fat. I weigh 220 now, but more and more of that is starting to become muscle. I used to be so fat and weak that I had trouble moving my body. I couldnt even go from a lying down to a sitting up position, or shift my body using only my arms.

The first time I realized that my exercise was starting to pay off was when I woke up feeling great, with a high energy level, after having great sleep. I sat up easily and flipped my 220 lb. mass out of bed using only upper body and ab strength. I didn't even think about it.

Afterwards I realized that I was becoming really strong. I'd say that was the start of my fitness obsession. I think I am going to continue speed walking, increase the intensity of my diet, and, since its going to be spring soon, I'm going to start a whole bunch of outdoor sports, to exercise my entire body.

MAN, lemme tell you, I am still fat, but I AM REALLY EXCITED, PUMPED. I can't wait to go exercise again tomorrow morning.

It makes me feel really great.

Any of you guys experience an obsession like me?

Also, what's the deal with all of these protein powders everyone here talks about. Do they count as a meal?

If you keep taking in sooo much protein, aren't you worried your body will store it as fat?

I feel ya man. When I wake up in the morning I don't think "fuuuuckkkk, five more minutes." When I go to bed at night I dont stare at the cieling for 45 minutes before drifting asleep. When I pick my clothes I dont think 'which will make me look the least fat' I think 'which will make me look the most buff?' When I see people point or giggle at me I dont think "they must be laughing at how fat I am" I think "they must think I am hot". When I am excercising I dont think "yes! I'm almost done!" I think "fuck, I cant do anymore".

Being fit has been a life changing experience for me and I welcome the changes with bulging, veiny arms. The hardest part is breaking out of the glass prison and for me, and anyone else who decides to be fit, there is just one thing to remember...

Don't be worried about protein turning into fat, worry about not having enough protein in your diet for your muscles to recouperate.

Protein wont directly make you fat, but eating a ton of calories to get it, may.

I went from 350 pounds to a current 208 pounds (30% body fat, 35% lean muscle). But you're definitely way more defined than I am.

I'm only self conscious about the pecs, but I bet I can fix them up a bit more. When people look at my arms they aren't looking at the stretch marks ;)

I noticed this as well when I decided I needed to cut back and went with bottled water instead. All pop, orange drink, etc now leaves a terrible taste in my mouth.
