Dear /fit/,
Femanon here.I'm about 5'8 and weigh about 120 pounds. I'm pretty skinny, and want to get a little bit stronger by starting weightlifting. Could you please help me in recommending exercises that I could do using barbells or dumbbells in the gym?
Thanks in advance!

Without knowing your strength it's hard to recommend anything, the best advice for a starter is to begin with low weight and learn the right form, once you get the form down then start adding weight.

Bench press, isn't bad, squats are good (really they are), try some leg press if you have a gym available to you
I'm sure some females or anon who have access to real gyms could give you more help.

I'm not terribly strong at all. Lifting the 45-50 pound barbell bar is sort of hard for me right now, which is what I want to change.
Squats are /fit/'s favourite exercise, which is something I was going to check out, but I was feeling sort of iffy about bench presses. Aren't that supposed to develop musculature in a guy's chest as well as his arms? I'd rather not have muscley boobs, if you know what I mean.

Bench doesn't focus on the chest, it works a ton of muscle groups.

Squats is the same, it is more focused on legs but will work pretty much every single muscle in your body.
And the bar is probably 40-45, I've never seen one weigh more than 45 which is the olympic standard.

Thanks.

Does anyone know about any other exercises I could do?

Strength building? I thought those were more of "muscle endurance exercises"

Well depends, if you do 100 at a times you build endurance (and make yourself prone to injury because you are doing it wrong) but combining them with other chest exercises is very effective

something like this

Tits & gtfo.

why weightlifghting? i'd say fuck that, try jogging, its much more fun, lifghting and training in gym is boring as hell, running throught park with nice music is not, it can even be fun. besides being skinny u wont have much problem with running and it does build ur strength and shapes ur budy without overdoing it, althought occasional gym workups are prefferable

Fuck off.

No desire to be an attention whore. Fuck you.

>>199860
I do that, and it is awesome, but I want to be more than "just skinny". I'm not interested in gaining a hundred pounds of pure muscle, but I want to be fit in having actual strength.

You knew what you were in for when you put down femanon. There was really no need to specify, other than wanting the attention. That said, tits; gtfo, etc.

Ok then proceed to step 2 - FUCK OFF.

bla bla bla, anon shut up

squatz helps on legs and a lot of other muscles, namely the buttocks, do wide and narrow pushups and various different pullups and then crunches and you basically got every base covered

femanons want to be shaped different then a manons

well then if u already run but still wanna do more, then i would suggest one day do fast training like do push ups but do them very quick and after that to get rid of tension threw some imagenary tennis balls for example and etc. the next day do everything slow with the slow pace like in this>>199828
dude's video, slow excercise will build up ur amount of muscle while fast training make them fast, strong and built up stamina. thought slow training will result in hypertonus(or whatever its called right) of muscles, which is bad cause it will make them always tense so they will tire much faster when running and etc(thats why bodybuilders run like shit), so to prevent this the proportion should be something like 2fast 1slow or 5/2.
as to what exaclty take in gym i really dunno...but all the hot girls in my gym(on which i as a true anon stare via mirror while i am on a treadmill) just do everything as it seems, like 10 min on one then to the next and like that for 1.5 hours...
also as i say to everybody, its been my observation that most of the ppl slack while exercicing. dont just run till "oh i feel tired" run till "omfgwtf i cant walk anymore, it wouldve been awesome if there was some sort of teleportation device to teleport me right home"

Not OP here, but ugh...
yea I think when it comes to /fit/ness gender kind of does play an important role in what to do and how to do it.

God, what is it with whores asking for advice and then telling all the givers to "fuck off"?

Sorry, but femanon's there for a reason. Femanon's are shaped and built differently than mananons, and I wanted make sure I got advice on the right sort of lifting to do. I'm not here with a photo of myself being like "HAI BOYZ, DO I LOOK GUD? :D LOL", I'm asking for gender-specific weightlifting exercises for a femanon illiterate about gym weights and lifting.
Is it THAT hard to understand that bloody request?

Maybe that's the problem.
