I think I have a (hopefully) minor pilonidal cyst over my coccyx. Do I wait it out or go to a doctor?

If you go to the doctor he would tell you to wait it out, but in a scientific way.

Wow. Get fucked.

My brother just got what he thought was a bruise on his tailbone not too long ago. It turns out it was a cyst.

Listen, OP, get that shit checked out as soon as possible so you can deal with it as easily as possible.

Good man. I didn't know mine was a cyst until it burst. Man that was gross.

I had mine removed after tolerating the pain and embarrassment of it bursting and leaking through every so often. Surgery was somewhat simple (completely under and they cut out the tissue surrounding the cyst). I thought it was going to be simple, lance that cyst type of fix, but it was a bit more. Maybe due to me waiting so long.

That first cystic 'pop' you get, the pain is rather shocking. Deal with it before you have to deal with that.

How long was the recovery process on the surgery. Mine hasn't opened for over a year, but it's one of those things that's constantly on my mind. When they open it's just disgusting to say the least. It also interferes with my cycling, since any skin stretching hurts like hell. You know all these things though. How did the surgery go? How long did it take to recover? Anything you'd tell someone who is considering it?
