On /fit/ I hear people saying not eating slows your metabolism, yet a whole bunch of people also say eating slows your metabolism.

So what's the deal?

Eating many times a day speeds up your metabolism and prevents your body from storing fat, because food is always coming in.

Not eating slows your metabolism as your body goes into "starvation mode" to protect itself from not having enough food.

Eating does not slow down your metabolism. Whoever said that is an idiot.
