I'm the guy that barely squatted 35kg last week, today I squatted 55kg 40 times and 65kg 10 times. Am I awesome yet? Oh and the top part of my spine hurts a little bit.

I would assume 4x10, yeah.

Also, if you've got pain on the spine, you're either not keeping your head in line (look FORWARD) or you're resting the weight on the bone, rather than on your traps.

Frontsquats for the win.
Put less stress on lower back too, which is nice if you deadlift.
