I'm trying to increase the explosive power of my punches. Are there any exercises you guys can recommend to make my punches hit faster? I'm already practicing good form but I need to improve muscle time reaction. How can I get my fist to move fuck-fast, like Bruce Lee fast?
and the first person to say SQUATZ is going to get a flying bodyweight punch to your nutz.
Do some heavy benching, probably with dumbbells..
Deadlifts for punch power... and technique.
It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss allllll that heavenly glory.
Bruce Lee was notorious for practicing techniques underwater.
No, I got power, what I need now is speed. Its the reason why Bruce Lee's 1 inch punch worked so well, he was able to explode quickly in a small space. He was strong, but more importantly he was fuck-fast.
>>177965Is that where Ali got the idea from? I read Ali did his underwater boxing routine for the cameras only as a publicity stunt, that he didn't actually workout like that. Bruce Lee actually did underwater workouts?
>>177966Deadlifts will help you improve explosive punches.Training technique will help you improve explosive punches.
Weighted punches
>>177966so you've got power and technique? then you should have it, unless you aren't genetically leet.if you read lee, when he talks about his one-inch punch he talks about not just using the arm but the whole body to launch the attack from his feet upwards. if you watch videos you can see just that, but obviously noone can do shit like that in a combat situation. there are physical and practical limits to speed.
>>177971Strength I got from lifting, but its useless alone if I can't harness it. Technique I'm working on.I was just wondering if there were any other exercises that isolate and improve fast-twitch muscles. I guess I need to read up more on what Lee did, and said. If he was that open enough to record Jeet Koon Do, his training regiment should be somewhere too.
My punching didn't improve until i did shadowboxing. Do at least 10 minutes per day, with focus on form. Also do another 10 minutes with very light dumbells (1-2 kg), to condition the necessary muscles. And another 10 minutes of bagwork at the heavy bag.Remember, it's all in the hips.
>>177972actually i think he wrote the jkd stuff when he fucked his back and was bedridden for six months
