I normally work out three times a week but I'm going to be leaving for about a month and have no access to weights so I was thinking about really training hard last week before I leave, 8 times a week once a day. Is this smart or am I setting myself for negative gains and/or injury?

Training hard in the last week before leaving is not a bad idea, but try to train smart instead of overdoing stuff, that´s counterproductive. I´d say don´t derive too much from your usual training regime, but try to go for some bonus intensity, ie more weight, reps, sets, etc.. Taking some time off is usually a good idea.
