What exercises help me get explosive power out of my punches? A.K.A. what are plyometric exercises for the upper body?

JKD has a great technique for a straight in-line punch. Nothing that can be taught here

Chuck is a big fan of using a mean right hook. Most of it's just form, you can be strong as hell but still punch like a girl.

heres what we usually do in my Muay Thai training. just get a book or something (we use pads) and then just do push ups and hop from one side of the book to the other. and then do front and back of the book. trust me it's not as easy as it sounds.

Well you have to experiment a little with it. You want to get a snap out of a punch if you are just punching the air. The key is to get fast acceleration of your fist, which means less musuclar tension in certain areas when moving a limb. So dont restrict your punches, imagine that you are punching through a guys head. Everything else is just building the right muscular structures. It is also important to be rooted FIRMLY to the ground so your body isnt confused as to where it should push off from, and so there is something behind that fist, not to mention not having your punch just bounce off the other guy. Just keep experimenting and doing many punches.

train for speed and endurance. Stretch.

Big, tight muscles wont help if you cant actually hit the other guy.

all of you lose. just work out on a heavy bag with proper form. power comes from the ground up not from bench pressing or anything else.
