Running question.

I'm curious to know if there are any real differences between running outside where its 100 degrees out or in an indoor gym, where its much cooler.

Now obviously running in the heat is going to cause you to sweat a lot more and lose more water weight, but thats not anything really since you'll get it all back.

Does your body work harder when running in the heat because of the added strain on it and thus burn more calories or is there no real difference between the heat and indoors?

Pic related.

When I run in the "cool" gym, I sweat and get hot, and the cooling system does shit until I'm done at which point I wish I could sleep on the AC unit

A treadmill is a perfectly flat, straight surface, while outside, the road is typically uneven with numerous hills and bumps along the way. Your body has to compensate for these, making it more difficult and better for you overall. Running outside is superior, but if you're incredibly fat and just trying to get started, a treadmill is a great way to build endurance.
