Barbell weight? Anonymous
If you post your squat/deadlift/benchpress-capacity, do you include the barbell weight or is it just the weight you put onto the barbell?
>> Anonymous
Include the weight of the bar by default.
>> Anonymous
I think most people do.

How much do bars weigh? Damn those things themselves are heavy...

Mine weighs 15 lbs. There's heavier bars of course.

20 kg is standard

A men's Olympic bar is a chrome-vanadium steel bar that is 2.2 m (7.3 ft) long and weighs 20 kg (44.1 lbs).

Mine is approximately 10kg (22lbs)

At my gym we use a 45 lbs bar.

Yeah, I think that's what my friend estimated the one we use at the gym as. It's pretty heavy- I curl, squat, and lunge with it by itself.

Generally olympic bars are 20KG (~45lb) and non-olympic bars are ~10kg (~22lb).

all by yourself? sure you don't need a spot?

how the fuck can you justify being a tripfag on /fit/ if you're that weak

Oh i'm sorry Mr. Elitist Bastard, i didn't know there was a minimum weight requirement to have a tripcode on a message board.

But yeah, after my old Karate class one day, we talked about modern-day applications of the bo staff. While being much heavier (And also able to inflict MUCH more damage, whether for better or worse), a lighter lifting bar (25lbs) was taken into consideration, and after picking one up one time and spinning it around a bit, i'd definately say i wouldn't consider it using against someone unless i had the intention to break bones / kill them :X

It's a she?

Heh... my female workout buddies couldn't even do the bar so they just gave up after a few weeks.
Just have to remember than it's not embarrassing or shameful to lift less weight. There's little no benefit in lifting heavy if you can't do it right with full motion.

form is so very important. don't compromise it, for the sake of achieving a higher number amount of weight. then you're training who knows what muscles, you can't balance the workout front/back, you can get injured.

Yeah, I'm a she.

I could squat with more weight, but it's getting it off my back and back onto the holder that makes it to tad too hard.
