Need help critiquing my workout routine. This summer I am training for the Rock Climbing competition season, which starts in the fall. I boulder, which requires relatively short periods of very intense climbing. All the weightlifting will be done in 5 sets of clustered reps building up to a maximum of 4 reps, while the 500m rowing pieces in sets of 4 with 1min rest in between each "rep" so to speak. A campus board is just a climbing specific dynamic pullup exercise used to keep my tendon strength up. Frenchies are just pure win. Each session will be preceded by a running or rowing warmup, and ended with core workout, mainly various situps/crunches, skullers, and tabletops.

I just did. OP your plan seems overly complex and confusing.
Just do a 5x5.

Sounds ok, i'm guessing you know more about rock climing than the rest of us. Just rock climb a lot, and i guess do grip strengh exersizes? Find out what other climbers do and then do that.

The problem is, I'm not looking for the generic "Ey brah how do I get teh musles end git gurlz?" program. I explained my needs, put together a program that I am under the impression meets those needs, and now I'm looking for an assessment from people who I thought have actual experience, not just regurgitate the same "Just do 5x5 bro" and "Read Starting Strength" everyone keeps saying (not to imply that it might not be correct in alot of cases, I just think it isnt in this case).

The problem is that the traditional rock climbing conditioning routine dosent seem to work to get me stronger. the last 4 months of rowing season that I joined a local crew team for got me stronger than 2 years of climbing ever could have. Thats why i decided to try a more traditional strength training method this summer, but still keep it geared towards climbing stronger.

the 5x5 program was designed to aid strength for sportsmen like footballers.
It's not a "mussles and girls" workout like you said. Throw in some power cleans and you get explosive strength too.
