Hey /fit/, have a question here.

All these treadmills have indicators saying the amount of calories burnt .etc.

As I know these are not entirely accurate should I even depend on a bunch of numbers?
And how accurate are they?

... bump?

I always wondered this, too. I'm sure different bodies require different measures of energy to move the same distance. Maybe the treadmill is doing shotgun-type estimation?

yea machine guess work.
I just do 45-60 min of cardio daily.
Yea i wanna lose weight a bit too bad.

Ballpark figure. They're not incredibly accurate, obviously - it can make an educated guess (I know it's a machine) based on a formula from your weight, speed and incline, but not much else. Call it something like a 20% margin of error.

Oh ok
20% here and there; so I burn 1500-2000 cal a day on the machine.

Yea I have nothing better to do.

I don't think they are very accurate but all the same I try to hit 600 calories everytime im on the tread. Think of it as a goal.

they're somewhat accurate if you can enter weight & age.

If you don't change your routine, you'll end up burning fewer calories because your muscles become more efficient, needing less energy to do the same work.

But, yeah, those machines guess.
