hey /fit/

so i was in the gym one day, doing ATG squats as usual. i reach my last set, then SUDDENLY, after two reps, i feel a sharp, intense pain in the lower part of my back, slightly to the right maybe. i tried taking a break then resuming the squatz, however, the pain came back. i've skipped a squat workout so far.

what do i do, /fit/? i don't want to permanently fuck up my back, but i can't stop training my legs either. :(

you are so fucked man... during next 18 hours you will loose feelings to everything bellow your neval you are so fucked man.

first, see a doctor.
you most likely pulled a muscle but it's better to be sure it's not something else.
secondly, rest is more important than keeping your legs strong.
you can always build your strength back.

you really shouldnt start squatting until

1- can touch your toes
2- can reverse hypers with 40lb plate
3- know how to warm up, and warm up properly
4- have taken videos of yourself squatting with maximal weight, and gotten advice on your form

Just go light for a while and have someone spot you that can tell you if your form is off at all.

If the pain returns with the same or worse intensity then there is cause for concern.

my form is fine, i've been squatting for a year or so. i think the problem is i went down too fast that last workout.

and as for asking advice in the gym, all of the big guys there do these ridiculous half-squats, with a VERY wide stance, and don't even go all the way up, cause "HURRR TEHN UR THIGHS DUNT REST AND TEHY BURN DURRRRRrr". needless to say, there are some pretty disproportionate guys walking around there.

you crushed a vertebrae, or at least split one. get xrays asap they might be able to treat it before the damage is bad

Same thing happened to me earlier this year. It turned out to be nothing more than a pulled muscle. Two weeks off and I was fine.

Go see a doctor if you're worried.

leg press???

Psst: Squatting 350 pounds equates to around 2400 pounds of compressive force on your lower vertebrae... They were only designed evolutionarily to carry your body's weight and a little extra from time to time. Enjoy your spinal compression musclenerd.

why would i need to touch my toes with straight legs?

Bullshit. it has been a proven fact that men always carried heavy stuff on their back, such as dead animals, or their wives.

Definitely get to a doctor ASAP. Lower back injuries suck. It could be as little as a pulled muscle so take it easy for the next few days

You pulled a back muscle. It has happened to me multiple times in judo and during squats.

Solution: Lift at less than 50% intensity for a week. Do cardio to enchance blood flow for active recovery. And next time FUCKING WATCH YOUR FORM AND WORK TO THE WEIGHT YOU TRY TO LIFT GODDAMN RETARD.

Physio.

normal doctors are useless with sports related injuries.

Who says it has to be their wives? Rape, pillage, plunder, etc.

Post a video of your technique, either here or on another website like Strength Mill.

Your form isn't fine. If it was fine, you wouldn't be in pain. Go see a doctor, heal, and get your form checked, so you don't end up like those old men who wear belts while curling in the squat rack.

FRONT SQUATZ

i dont understand how people have bad form, if you just do what your body naturally wants to do you should be in correct form. like seriously, how do you even arch your back wrong when you squat. i can see while deadlifting, but squats??
>> Anonymous
>>289330
because if you cant, then your squat is probably underusing the hamstring muscles, and putting too much pressure on your spinal column/ lower back. It is also very unlikely that you can keep an arch as you squat down in the hole, simply due to flexibility issues.

>>my form is fine,

of course it is.

you probably let your lower back round. your form sucks and you are a bad person.
>> Anonymous
>>290030
because people try to jump to using too much weight.
>> Anonymous
>>290030
because newbs are not not used to squatting and their hams are too inflexible.
Of course it's a natural movement, that is if your job is lifting rocks from a field or such.

if you suddenly start feeling pain for no seemingly real reason, your form is bad.

drop the weight, relearn correct form.

well that's neglecting the possibility that he was injured before.
Some people have a fucked up back and then it's no wonder squats will hurt.

Injuries sustained during squats are 99% of the fucking time due to fucktards with bad form, no mater ow much they say otherwise.
