The 30g of carbs is similar to the requirement to kickstart ketosis - which is the basis for weight loss for Atkins and other low carb diets.
You eat ultra low carbs per day, then your body has none of the glycogen (I think?) stored, so in theory you are just burning what is in your gut or fat stores.
I did Atkins, and the carbs from fiber do not count towards the daily total of carb allowance. Sugars, alcohols (like diabetic sweetener), a few others I can't remember.
Run a thread about low carbing, and see if it is for you. For most people, it is not. It is hard as hell to do anything while on lowcarb, since you have no ready energy for anything.
