I need to do the splits.Not just by lowering my torso and using my upper body weight to help force the stretch but I need to be able to lean back and aim either leg straight upward like in this pic.Currently using tom kurz's method and while I've gained flexibility in other areas I have not increased my split.GIVE UNTO ME YOUR SECRETS!
How long have you been trying to do it?Assuming you're a martial artist, you'll need to warm up with stretches and for the legs, then you'll probably throw some kicks and then stretch after as well.Stretch lots, and just keep at it til it comes. Just make sure you're doing it with control instead of just bouncing and forcing it to the point of injury.
I used to do yoga and was making progress but it was slow and I eventually stopped. Then I switched to the tom kurz method and gained pretty quickly over a short period of time (couple months, stretching daily) but results have been minimal to zilch in my split other than pushing myself to pain.I want to be able to hold a split as effortlessly as I see gymnasts and SOME martial artists do...like the guy in the pic from Jackie Chan's Who Am I starring Jackie Chan and Jackie Chan
