Hey /fit/, bit of a strange problem here.

I want to gain weight (6' 2", 115 lbs, it's pretty bad), so I've tried getting more protein in my diet. I tried drinking a protein shake, but I got severe pains on my left side only minutes after drinking.

Any ideas on what the problem might be? Pic related, it's what I was trying.

At 115 lbs., you don't need to be drinking protein shakes. You can *easily* get all the protein you need by making sure you eat plenty of food, some of it with plenty of protein. Srsly, you're putting the cart before the horse here. Start your workout program, fix your diet, and maybe you'll think about supplementary protein 50 lbs. down the road.

You don't need Nitro-Tech or any other weight gainer/shake, you need CALORIES FROM WHOLE FOOD.

One of my good friends has the same problem on the other end of the scale. 5' 8" and...I don't know, just a featherweight.

Everything he gained, he gained from putting in hours at the gym and going for a couple of months not going to bars, eating out and spending on games and gadgets. The money he saved up he spent on booking one of the gym's in-house trainer twice a week for 3 months.

Save the money on the shakes and snake oil. A hired trainer - a good one anyway - will have heard the same request from other guys who wanted to bulk up and knows the drill and the appropriate exercises. Everything he teaches you, you can remember for the future plus he provides encouragement and morale-boosting, he can even recommend a diet (which he should anyway, if he's good).

tl;dr drop the protein shakes, hit the gym, consider a trainer.

Dude drop that stuff, it has insulin in it. You don't need to be adding that stuff into your body.

Please oh please go to any other protein powder if you need one.
