Other than death, what are the dire consequences of starving yourself. Not only the effect on the internal organs but also the skin and hair and what not.

Aside from anything else that seems obvious (eg stomach ulcers), your body starts to digest its own muscles and flesh, to the point where you become unable to support yourself or move yourself.

Your skin and hair will grow slowly, and it will be also very thin and brittle. Because you have nothing to oil your skin or hair, it will be flaking off and generally dull.

Since fat is what makes the skin look young and supple, your body will look old very quickly. Wrinkles and whatnot will form.

Your body's immune system and healing ability will also slowly shut down, so in the even of a serious accident or illness, you will be less likely to survive.

Certain vitamin deficiencies will also show up, which has its own list of serious consequences.

So I looked up water fasting and, fuck me, the cons outweigh the pros.

Okay. Firstly, the cons:
+Hunger (extremely prevalent in the beginning and end)
+Lethargy (the lack of glycogen [fuel created by the live] makes movement difficult and your body stops you from moving much)
+Returning to normal glucose intake (probably the most difficult part since you must take care not to put too much shit to your system afterward or else...)
+Death (its possible if you don't read up on water fasting)

Now, the Pros:\
+Toxins Rapidly Expelled (since body no longer uses energy to digest food)
+Sedation (due to Ketones eventually being used as fuel which is similarly constructed like alcohol. fuck you sedation is awesome)
+Up to 1lbs(0.454kg) of fat used as fuel per day

Its really the whole death thing that makes me think twice about it. Otherwise I just sit around and play video games and lose several pounds a week.

So there I was, 4 hours into my fast.

A plate of purple grapes, green grapes, 12 fresh baked cookies and a glass of milk are set in front of me.

I then realized two things:
1. I have chill ass roomies

I didn't mention it because there are too many variables to take into consideration. Theres the individuals weight as well as their current muscle mass. If you keep track of what you're doing regarding being physical, water intake and time, you could avoid muscle deterioration altogether.

Question sort of related. For the past few years I've managed to limit myself to one meal a day without dying, but I want to limit my food intake even further. Alternating between an instant liquid breakfast 3 out of 7 days of the week with the other days just a bagel and cream cheese. How long before I die? ;_;

Protip: Holding onto muscle takes more calories than holding onto fat. Once your body realises it's starving, it will break down muscle first as it takes more calories to hold onto, and it will also store as much fat as possible due to being sent into starvation mode.

Don't water fast, it fucks up your bodies metabolism entirely, all these fad diets are conjured up by people who know fuck all about dieting or nutrition in the first place. If you want to lose weight, just eat 500 calories below your maintenance level (the amount it takes to eat without gaining or losing weight), have high amount of protein to minimise muscle loss and maximise fat loss, and do cardio exercise. Viola.

I just read that there are studies on mice that state that fasting every other day while eating double the normal amount of food on non-fasting days led to improved insulin and blood sugar control, neuronal resistance to injury, and health indicators superior to mice on 40% calorie restricted diets. Also, this method can apparently lower chances of diseases associated with inflammation, oxidative stress and aging.

Perhaps coupling this with thrice weekly cardio could prove fruitful to the fat mans?
