How do tobacco/beer/etc. companies get away with selling poison legally? Is there like... a guy they pay or something. I just can't wrap my head around it. These substances are harmful... yet they are still sold to people.
It doesn't make any goddamn sense to me.

what do you think, einstein? maybe that too much of anything is "poisonous" for you?

and that this topic is idiotic troll-material for people like you too stupid to figure out that "moderation in all things" is probably a good idea. by putting "alcohol" and "cigarettes" it's automatically a "controversial" topic.

but then again, i have to literally tell you why you're an idiot, so i doubt this makes any sense to you.

shut up.

These substances compromise the user's ability to moderate usage and are much much more harmful than things such as water. Seriously, who would compare water and smokes?
Point: These consumables are addictive, so the only reason they are sold so much is because people are hindered in their attempts to stop using them. It is a product that sells itself. This would be okay. Unfortunatly, these particular substances are harmful in the long term in relatively small doses. Especially relative to water.

If you are on the side of beer/tobacco/etc. then you are just a fag who is pissing his pants over how much time and health they've squandered on consuming this shit.

There's also a cultural aspect. We do it because our forefathers did it. Hence, why tobacco is legal and yet the much less harmful cannabis isn't.

Because we are a free nation. If we want to destroy our bodies we should be able too. There is already an age limit on both tobacco and alcohol, so you can't plead ignorance successfully. I also think that several other drugs should be legalized. I don't do hardy any drugs, but I do drink occasionally, and I still think that people should be free to make the choice of what to put in themselves.

Drink your beer and smoke your cigs, poisonfags. It is a good form of population control. You help the world by dying from your stupidity.

This is one of the setbacks of a democracy. These companies are huge, they have big pockets and powerful lawyers and lobbyists. They sell psychologically and physically addictive goods that are harmful.

But every single person here has freedom of choice and responsibility. Just don't take up smoking. Or just quit or seek help if you can't. I find it a good tradeoff - liberty to assume your own responsibility... and liberty to make a profit.

Water is addictive, if you don't drink it every 3 days you die. We should make that illegal.
