/fit/, I have a problem here. I started taking Remeron, as an antidepressant and sleep aid, about five months ago. Since then, I've put on about 30 pounds. I was at a normal weight before, and I am now a little overweight.

What should I do? I'm going to talk it over with my psychiatrist, too--I have severe depression without it and thus fear going off it. I exercise regularly and eat healthy and less, and I'm quite used to just shedding weight instantly, but it's not happening now.

Although I am neither a psychiatrist nor have I taken the medication you are currently on, I was at one time a user of Paxil (a medication prescribed for depression). Weight gain was a side effect of this particular drug; perhaps this is a common side effect of most drugs used for depression. You may want to monitor your caloric intake from now on, and make sure that your activity level is kept up.
