Hey, this is probably a dumb fucking question but oh well:

I do burpees, right? But here's the thing. I don't do the push up or the jump. :/ But I do this because I do a lot of burpees. I do them in descending sets (11>10>9...) and on their own I can only do ~15 push ups.

I mean, I guess it's possible to add the jump but that really kills my legs. I have hindu squats for that.

Anyway, my original question: Are these types of burpees a good example of cardio? Especially since I'm doing 50+ (Eventually 200+) of them with very little rest (5-10 sec).

So yeah, thanks /fit/.

Also some stats I guess: 6'0 at 235. pic unrelated

Burpees are calisthenics. They are not... exactly cardio in the traditional sense. They're probably closer to plyometrics than cardio.

If you're trying to lose weight, just go for a walk every day for an hour or so. Load up your MP3 player with an audio book. It's great. Leash up the dog and trim Fido's body fat down too.

Are you just dropping to the push-up position, and coming back up?

I don't want to sound like an asshole, but it's supposed to be hard, especially since it's such a broad, explosive movement. I'm having a hard time writing this eloquently, but there's no rule that says "You can only do one leg exercise per workout".
By the way, I would seriously consider ditching the Hindu squats in favor of one legged squats, for a number of reasons.

tl;dr, if you're going to do burpees, do burpees. They're an excellent exercise that will make your legs a hell of a lot stronger. And although you'll be huffing and puffing, they don't count as cardio.

do the jump, do less burpies until you can handle it.

Start of with a small jump, work your way up to the full tuck jump. I do my burpees like I'm about to force fuck the ground at high speed.

numbers don't mean shit if you're not doing it properly. I'd rather do 1 one armed pullup than 100 shitty form chinups.

Yes I'm doing all of the motions with good form, just leaving out the push up and jump at the end.

I'm working on those. I'm doing them onto my bed, alternating legs. I can't do them without that support yet.

>And although you'll be huffing and puffing, they don't count as cardio.

Fuck.

Anyway, thanks guys. I'll work in the jump today.
