Controlling urges Anonymous
Serious question. How do you guys actively stop yourself from eating shitty? I was doing a great job today before dinner. Had a good mix of fruit, whole wheat bread, and veggies. Then I fucked it up hard at dinner and had a rather sloppy cheeseburger.

In b4 fatty, etc, all that shit. Just looking for people's views on how they curb urges. I'm getting better, just looking for more pointers.

Pic absolutely related...

I only need willpower for the 20 or 30 minutes when I am picking up groceries.

Looking at myself in the mirror helped a lot, mostly.

You know the saying, "Out of sight, out of mind?" That's exactly the way it is with me. If I have access to the bad foods, I'll probably lack the willpower to stop myself from eating it. Try to avoid being around the junk foods in the first place, and surround yourself with healthy food, that way it'll make it much harder to cheat.

If it's urges to eat junk that are really bothering you, and they become so strong that you'll actually go out and purchase the bad food, all I can tell you is that it boils down to willpower. Whenever I used to get hunger pangs bad, I would repeat to myself "And this shall pass too" over and over (lol I'm not even Christian, its just useful to take your mind off the pangs with something). Eventually, you'll get better at self-regulating when you go on long enough with eating shitty junk foods.

You should stick to your diet and workout routine for as hard as you can for about two weeks. And just for one day, after those two weeks, enjoy yourself a nice cheeseburger or pizza.

That's pretty much my motivation, though I only really eat like that maybe once or twice a month tops.
