Hey /fit/

So I was motivated about 4 months ago to get in shape and bulk up a little bit. Not huge, but more muscular. I'm trying to work hard on abs now, but i'm not seeing the definition I would like. This first picture is me right now, without flexing. The second one is me flexing. I would like to look like that second picture as quickly as possible, hopefully a couple months.

Right now I do chest, arms, back on a day, and then abs and cardio the next. However, i'm not hitting cardio as hard as I would like to.

Only supplement is whey protein. I've cut fat pretty much completely out of my life. Only drink water, no sweets, lots of healthy fish, grains, nuts for snacks, etc.

What is /fit/'s opinion on how I can reach my goal as quickly as possible.... more intense cardio? more ab exercises?

As a guy whose been doing what you say, for only about a month, I'd say your progress is inspirational. If you feel you need to bulk up more, or define your abs more, that's your prerogative, but you look great right now. More intense cardio never hurts though, if you think you need it.

bulk up, then cut down. during your bulk, you will get much more muscle (but it wont be as noticable) then when you cut, the muscle you gained will be far more noticable.

I think those abs aren't going to get anymore defined on your current routine unless you really start working the shit out of them. If you want to do that then try either leg lifts (6 inches ie) with ankle weights or sit ups with about 50 or more lbs of weights on your chest. This will build muscle more than it will cut fat. From the looks of it, this is what you want to do.

do six inches they get your abbs in shape very very very very fast and they will look really cut

lay flat on back.
keep legs slightly bent
lift legs off ground about 6-9 inches
and repeat

i do about 120 every day to keep them toned
at first i only could do like 80
but the more you do them the more beast you get at them

This is the best answer, there's no doubt as to this is simply the fastest and most efficient way to get where you want.

So, I'm in the same boat as OP, with the exception that what he looks like NOW is my GOAL. I do ab crunches, with weights, and have been for a while. (Well, the added weight is much more recent.) I'm slowly getting some muscle definition in my arms, chest and back, but I'm not seeing much improvement in the abs.

What's this "bulk up, cut back" business? I do both weights and cardio now, and though I don't seem to be losing much weight, I think I'm cutting back fat and building muscle. I do read though about going in phases, building up muscle first to burn off the fat, then doing more fat-burning exercises to get rid of the fat itself.

What's going on here?

1. lower your bf%, thus remaining a skinny fuck with baby abs and no real core strength whatsoever.
2. do some motherfucking compound lifts, hard and heavy, build some real core strength and real ab muscles, then cut bf% when you're too much of a pansy to keep going.

You have the exact same body physique as I do.

I'm curious as to your measurements. How tall and how heavy are you?

I'm at 5'7 and weigh in at 150'lbs.

I think that if I can reach 170 through constantly eating and maintaining my ridiculously destructive workout regime. I'll look absolutely less pussy than how you and I look like right now. I’d recommend doing the same.
