hello internet. i'd like to improve my sleeping habits.

currently, i usually go to bed around midnight or one a.m. depending on the day, i wake up around nine a.m. or noon. on a typical week day, i average about six or seven hours of sleep.

this sleep, however, always culminates in a struggle to get out of bed in the morning. i always set two alarm clocks, because i manage to silence one with no affect on me before i actually 'wake up.' on more occasions than i care to remember, i have turned off both alarms (because, hey, i'm awake now, no need for those pesky things) and "just gone back to close my eyes" and overslept.

this will continue no longer! i want to be the guy to get a good eight or more hours, and wake up at eight or nine, even (read:especially) on a weekend! i feel like my life will improve just by not sleeping in like such a slob.

what does health & fitness recommend? how can i change my aversion to alarm clocks? how do i become more of the fabled "morning person"?

Sleep: 12-1
Awake: 9-12

Your minimum amount of sleep is 9-1 or 8 hours of sleep.

0/10. One does not simply troll into /fit/.

Don't go to sleep one night then sleep from 7 pm to 7 am. The next night it will be possible to sleep at 10pm.

I've done this many times for adjusting to/from night shift work and it's always done its job.

I would think that he's getting to bed at 1am and going to sleep around 1:45 -2 am. Also it's possible that he's just lying in bed having a "light" dream for a couple hours after waking up.

By "light" dream I mean when you're awake but it's like your just thinking and not really focused on anything. Daydreaming maybe? I don't know what I should call it but I think you know what I mean.

I spelled you're as your. It pissed me off when I do that so I corrected it.

OP, how old are you?

I used to be just like that, but once I hit my late 20s (recently) I've suddenly started getting up earlier and not being able to sleep for more than 6 hours tops.

Check your diet too. Eating late at night and not eating much in the morning? Fix that by eating a big breakfast in the morning and less at night and you should find it helps with sleep.

Find something to wake up FOR in the morning.

I used to have a problem waking up in time for class during last semester.

This summer though, ever since i started lifeguarding as a veteran guard, it's up to me to get the equipment to the beach for the rest of the guards. I find waking up MUCH easier with a purpose to drive me.
