Hey /fit/,

For various reasons, I'm having to cancel my gym membership. I'm still keen to lose weight though, so what exercises can I do at home that will be effective? I have a crunch machine and there are some steps in my apartment so I can get some cardio on those. Any other recommendations?

yoga, tai chi, jump rope (if you're downstairs), shadow boxing, martial arts, pilates, calisthenics (like you'd find in a old exercise book in a thrift store), crunches, sumo wrestler drills, western wrestling exercises, etc.

also: hindu squats, hindu pushups, and the wrestlers bridge

Not sure how many of those I can do in a small, second-floor apartment, but thanks.

They're all suitable for women, right?

ok, if you're 2nd story, just do yoga. that's what i do - i live in a small house, no room for weights... bad neighborhood, not safe for running.
pros:
yoga is quiet. you won't bother your neighbors downstairs.
you don't need to buy any gear. skip the yoga mat.
you can do it every day without rest days.
the poses (asanas) are easier than they look.
you can do yoga all day once you get basic strength

reply if you have other questions. I can post some links.
youtube and 5min.com have tons of yoga videos
just ignore all the new age bs explanations. it's just exercise.

Bicycle crunches(work abdominals and obliques), pushups, pullups, squats, lunges, supermans, hiking, running, walking, swimming, bicycling, tracking how much you are eating. EAT BREAKFAST EVERY SINGLE DAY. When you are stressed take note of it so you can tell when you are more vulnerable to caving in on comfort eating.
