quick way to lose weight? lose water weight.

people think it's useful or something... maybe it's relaxing? I don't know, I never enjoyed it.

Only a fool would doubt the pleasures of the sauna! The dry heat roasts out the stiffness from one's muscles after they have been taxed to the breaking point! After a sauna, I feel as supple and springlike as a Carribean dancing-girl!

Saunas are nice and relaxing.

They have no health benefits.

The body does not cleanse itself of toxins through sweat.

My throat just dry and generally uncomfortable. I don't see the appeal. Maybe I just don't work out enough??

By sweating you get dehydrated and that will make you a little delirious, which can feel good in some cases. You should always take water to drink just in case you don't want that.

They can be used to rapidly lose SOME weight temporarily, such as boxers and other martial arts competitors try to be as heavy as possible and lose just enough weight to make the division before a weigh in. Jockeys often do the same thing. It can make your muscles stand out more but don't do this before a date if you are going to drink afterwards.

There are saunas which are dry and steambaths which are humid. If you are used to a particular climate and suddenly change, your respiratory system is going to revolt.

But note that this is water weight, and for an active person who is properly hydrated and not retaining extra water, this weight loss can be unhealthy.

As an afterthought, the frequent switch from a cool, air-conditioned environment to a hot, humid environment and back is the largest cause of summer bronchitis and related conditions.

You foreigners, wearing a towel in sauna. It's a faux pas in Finland to wear any clothing in sauna.
