Gentlemen,

I have hit the point to where I start my mass building diet. I've been on a leaning low fat low calorie high protein diet. I have my routines down on paper ready to go with infinite motivation.

What is your experience with weight gainers? I will be starting with:
Optimum Nutrition "Serious Mass" Banana

I've noticed that its packed with carbs, which I know go toward your energy. But with a rigorous routine such as lifting 3 days a week and cardio 5 days a week, will the excess carbs be stored as fat or will I be most likely burning everything I'm intaking? Please HALP /fit/

My total number of calories on this diet will be 3600 with 200 grams of protein, 50% from natural sources.

cardio 5 days a week is too much when gaining mass.

Why is that amount of fat important? Im standing at 23 grams of fat which equals aprox. 35%. So bring that down...I can live without cheese.

more hamburgers and omega-3 peanut butter, less weight gainer. better to get the protein and calories through food.

OP here, I agree. I am so used to doing mainly cardio, I don't know what the results will be with this new diet. I understand that I will be gaining MASS not just muscle, I just want the ratio of muscle to be something around 90:10.

I wonder if the whole cutting and gaining thing is a cycle. You gain some, cut some, gain some, cut some.

Questions like this would be be answered on the bodybuilding.com forums. the people who are on there are experts. They helped me tremendously especially on supplement questions.

The body is not really designed for gaining mass while staying lean. It's more efficient to bulk and then cut. It's not the only way, but it is more effective. Also depends on your goals. If your goal is to look amazing(like a bodybuilder) then follow what they do, and bulk then cut. The ratio is more like 60:40 for normal people i'd imagine. I've read several body building forums that say to never do any cardio while bulking.. but that may be too extreme. I suppose it depends on how clean you bulk. Personally I like to just eat everything I can get my hands on and then when its time to diet go on an extreme nothing but protein powder tuna fish and bananas diet
