how the fuck do people eat so few calories in a day? so apparently to maintain my weight i'd have to eat 2,500 calories a day. But I want to lose weight, so it would make sense to eat less than that. Today I ate 3 madeleines and about 28 tortilla chips with salsa. 3 madelines = 150x3= 450. 28 chips = 140x2 = 280. Salsa = 28x2.5 = 70. Add all that up = 800 calories.

Don't think I'm doing it right. =( What should I be doing?

Because most of /fit/ are incredibly unhealthy basement-dwelling nerds that never ate much from the start or just realized they're fat and are now trying to lose the weight waaaay too fast.

It doesn't work. I was like that too when I was 18. I was 6'0" and 130 pounds. Then suddenly my metabolism went to shit and I ballooned to 200 pounds by 23. I'm now down to 180... but I only seem to have about 5-10 pounds of fat left. Rest is muscle and lean mass.

meh I'm down 21kg from my former fatty state and I do make an effort to eat hella small amount of calories per day (800 max), havent had any muscle wasteage I actually gained muscle. So I say screw the fags who tell you to eat 2500 per day. I havent been for months and I'm functioning just fine

by eating small meals throughout the day and ltraining your body to eat even though it's not hungry. working out intensely also helps hunger.

If you're eating 800 calories a day, you're losing muscle. Period. Just because you can see more muscle doesn't mean you're gaining. It just means you're depleting enough fat for the skin to be resting on the existing muscle.

Besides, if you can lose weight on 2,800 calories a day...why would you WANT to eat less? The whole reason we get fat is because we like to eat, right? And like South Park said, if you cut yourself off completely from the vices you like, you're not controlling them...they're controlling you. And I'll be goddamned if my chicken breast sammich is going to control me.

I eat oatmeal and coffee in the morning = 450 cals.

A footlong turkey sub with mayo at lunch with large white milk = 1000 calories.

I have a really hard time eating a decent sized dinner after that.

Eat big in the morning because that'll jump start your metabolism. then later through the day eat smaller portions or lunch and dinner with a few healthy snacks thrown in. Try to eat more meat becuase that fills you up more.

Calculate your BMR to see how many calories your body needs. Multipy that by how active you are (google is your friend) then divide that by how many meals you eat (snacks included)

Cut out a soda or beer throughout the day and drink more water. Get plenty of sleep and get off your bum and excercise. Recreational sports, excercise classes, riding a bike, walking whatev just do.

A pound is roughly 3500 calories so on top of what you normally do try to cut out and/or work of 500 calories a day.

Like two years ago I was at my heaviest weight 148 lbs. I'm a girl and I was like 5'3 height wise so yeah I was a fatty.

Well anyways as a fatty I was always running around just for work and class and other shit which caused me to eat at BK 2-3 times a day.

So anyways, I stopped eating fast food shit and started eating 900 calories a day while burning like 600 calories. 4 days a week working out.

So I quickly dropped down to 108-110 which is where I'm at today. However, I now eat 1,200 calories and work out a little less because eating under 1000 calories can seriously fuck your health up.

Man if I just let myself eat I'd probably be a big ol' fatty and eat like 5000 calories a day. That said, I dont eat that and am not a fatty. Currently trying to slim down a bit more, so am eating between 1800 and 2400 calories a day.

OP you need to cut out shit like tortilla chips, which are calorie dense and not very filling. You can eat like a pound of steamed vegetables at a sitting, if you want though. 1lb steamed veggies = 400 calories (depends on veggie, but about that)

My lunch today is 12oz steamed vegetables (240 calories [corn,beans, carrots, peas]) and 1 can white albacore tuna 210 calories. So 450 calories for lunch and I'm eating, literally a pound of food.

Get a Hungry Man 1lb of food or 3 quarter pounders for the same food by weight and you'll eat between 800 and 2000 calories in that sitting.

Eating 1200 isn't all that healthy. You should take vitamin supplements, fish oil, and calcium, as a girl, to make sure you're getting the essentials down while eating so little.
