Hello, /fit/.
All summer, I've been trying to lose weight. I got a gym membership, started lifting weights, trying to eat better, and running, especially. When I started exercising, i was 125 pounds, at 5'0. I know it sounds like i'm pretty much squat and obese, tbh, i don't think i look too disproportional, however there are some spots that i'd like to see reduced (but I also know there's no such thing as spot reduction). Right now, my weight is yo-yoing between 128 and 130. I've tried hiit, I can now run for 15 minutes straight (lol) and i weight train quite often. I've cut out most soda/juice from my diet, and avoid desert. is it even possible that those extra five pounds are muscle, or am i just doing it completely wrong? summer's almost over and i'm stressing out that i haven't made any progress at all.

Your weight isn't yo-yo'ing it can change 2lb up to in one day. Why? well eatting and taking shits.

Doesn't help if you eat too much of the healthy stuff. Exercising burns calories, but also increases appetite. Count your calories and cut them, if necessary.

Possible, but not probable.

soda is a the worst fucking thing you could drink.
cut that shit out COMPLETELY, don't drink a single fucking drop. don't drink diet either, drink water.
if you're eating candy and chocolate and crap on a regular basis then you're negating all of the hard work you've put in.

i'd cool it with the juice too, our bodies aren't adjusted to liquid calories - drink mostly water. Try to drink 1-3 liters a day.
You need water to lose fat and build muscle, it also shortens the period of soreness after exercising and is good for your skin.

go to your gym and do a fitness test and measure how much fat you have on you, that is what matters more than the number of your weight - since bones, water, muscle and other stuff contributes to the weight more than fat does.
