I was reading a blog and they said that 5x5 will not make you look like a bodybuilder since it was designed for football players... they suggested a routine based around compound as well as isolated exercises for the similar aesthetic.
That's fine, but they said that the 5x5 would make you built like a fridge. What kind of physique is that and what does that mean?

means like a box I think. Kinda chubby but definitely buff. Not so flattering to girls- unless you're a nigger.

Kinda like this...

I thought he meant something like really square and even... like no small waist that expands into a V... but rather shoulders and waist on same level.

it means built like a football player. Like a linebacker or even lineman. You know how bodybuilders are real defined well this simply means that its buff without the definition. Picture a big ass linebacker like ray lewis or urlacher. With that no-neck looking shit.

It means like, thick and blocky. Not shredded and tapered.

Schwarzenegger is body builder and tapered and ripped.

Jay Cutler is more Fridge like, in that he's far blockier throughout.

Thank you very much for your answers.
I guess to get huge isolated muscles I will have to switch to some kind of isolated exercises after a while and waste a bunch of time doing the same exercise with different weights...

wha? Isolation exercises can be fun. Just don't do 5x5 if you don't like what its promising. Grab any issue of Muscle and Fitness or Flex and just pull out a training program.

Compound moves, by definition, work a few muscle groups.
Bench - Chest, deltoids, triceps
Deadlift - Back, legs, forearms, traps

Toss in some biceps and some pull ups and you're good to go.

Reg Park did 5x5. It didn't really make him look like a fridge.

What are you talking about?

Aside from the fact that he cut to get more defined, thats exactly what a fridge-physique looks like

Is that a bad thin though?

Put Reg Park and Ahnuld together and Park is less blocky of the two.
