So, /fit/, I have some pretty epic hives. I've been taking Benadryl all weekend, and it's been working. But, now that the business week is here I'm hard-pressed to take Benadryl, since it makes me so damn drowsy.

I've been looking into non-drowsy antihistamines, like Alavert, and wanted to know if anyone here has had to take it (or others) to help hives.

Pic related, except I wasn't quite that bad.

or you could...find whats causing the hives.... and get rid of what ever's causing them?

That's the problem. I had my outbreak while I was waiting on a flight, so I don't know if I was exposed to an irritant, or if it was something I ate (nothing I'm allergic to, unless some kind of cross-contamination was involved).

I'd go to the doctor and get a steroid shot, but I'm an insuranceless college student. D:

Nothing should make you break out for an entire weekend. Go to a doctor immediately.

Another anon with EPIC case of hives here. Have been to a doc a couple of times because of them, each time I've gotten just antihistamines, once an antihistamine shot.

Apparently in most cases the cause is never found. Could be food allergy, could be stress, sweating, temperature changes (which *might* be what causes it in my case) or pretty much anything else.

Good thing they don't kill you.
