What the F am I doing wrong? I hit a plateau trying to lose weight doing cardio 6-7 days a week on a really low calorie diet, so I switched cardio to 2 times a week and replaced the other days with weight lifting and upped my calories to 1800. Doing this I started losing weight, but I was losing MORE lean mass than FAT, wtf. So I decided to up my calories to 2000, and just by doing that, I've started putting on weight (past 2 weeks: put on .5 kgs fat and 1.75 kgs lean mass). How the hell do I find a way to lose fat without losing lean mass? No matter what I try nothing works for me. (As far as my eating habits go, I'm going by what Tom Venuto's book says at the moment, so I don't think my food is the problem.) For reference, I'm at about 10% body fat.

i dont know if your doing this already, but you need to lift before you do cardio, because lean muscle burns faster than fat does. you also might want to try switching your cardio up, if your doing only treadmill or jogging, try swimming, ellipticals, and biking. switch that shit up to "confuse" your body.

if you do cardio on machines, use the interval presets and increase resistance. for example i was using resistance 8 on the stationary bike for 60 minutes, but now i use the interval function and alternate between 11 and 5 (also for 60 minutes). in the end i burn the same number of calories but i sweat a lot more and i feel like i get a better workout.

I already switched over to HIIT when I started doing weight lifting a lot instead of cardio. I'm running in the great outdoors--no machines.
