squats + sleep = WTF!? RSI guy !HjbWRiSTJ.
I did 5x5 squats 135-145 lbs last week, and when I got home from the gym at 7PM I couldn't help but fall asleep on my bed. And it just happened again yesterday, I couldn't fight it, at SEVEN! ( I could feel it would happen again, and welcomed it. ) That's my bodyweight btw 142 lbs, I'm 5'6".

so what the fuck is going on with me? I never fell asleep after a workout before. I've been working out twice a week for an hour since spring started. I did change my workout for these last two times as follows: I started listening to /fit/ and read the downloaded PDF file Pavel Tsatsouline - Naked Warrior. Two things stuck most prominently in my mind during these newly modified workouts:

1] Strength is built by tensing muscles harder, not by exhausting them with countless reps.
2] Do as much work as possible while being as fresh as possible
and somewhere else: bring ass to the ground, below parallel.

My ass has never been so sore for so long. It's wonderful.

You did a hard workout.
You got tired afterwards.

Where's your problem again?

Btw some weightlifters sleep up to 16 hours a day.

Try 8x3 deadlifts. That shit'll knock you out for a week.

Since I started eating like a pig and lifting, I've noticed that I can suddenly sleep in until 3-4PM.

I used to be able to sleep for like 10 hours MAX... but now I'm finding it hard to get out of bed unless I've have 12+ hours of sleep.

Maybe it is the summer heat... but I reckon it has something to do with all the deadlifts and milk.

Your body will adapt. I use to sleep like a horse as well, but schedule in work and other priorities and it just isn't feasible.

i crave knowledge

so if I keep this up for a year, i suppose i'm going to become a bigger, beefier who is tired more often

It is the first time you do 5x5 ? If so, then sleepyness might go after a week or two when you're body will adapt to the effort.

I'm around your height OP. ( well i'm shorter, 5,5) and i'm squatting 185 at the moment. The first week of 5x5 literally killed me ( keep in mind i was boxing 2-3 times a week while lifting).

Bt now i'm ok, still feel sore after the workouts but i don't feel drained as I used too.

yep. don't know why 5x5 is especially better though. Was doing 3 x 8-10 before. But this feels much more satisfying. that is doing the 1] 2] 3 i said.

also I want to mention:: now that I've just started doing just over my body weight, I find it much more dangerous. I've never lost control of the barbell yet, but I've teetered forward and backward a couple times already as I get tired towards the end of sets. This never happened before with lesser weights. The cage is properly set. I'm just calling my friend to spot me at the end now. perhaps I can also get suggestions on stability? exercises so I won't die.

tl;dr 5x5 new. teetering dangerously at bw squats. how to not die?

this is normal
i'm doing smolov jr for squats right now (a program which has you squatting heavy 4 times per week for 3 weeks; http://wkak.net/SmolovFAQ.htm if you want to know more)
when i get home from the gym i just lie on the floor for an hour and then i eat a few stakes

as for the balance.. you'll get used to it
