CONTRADICTION Anonymous
i'd like to point out a contradiction that i see all over this board:

"dont eat too little, your body will not burn fat."

"eat more food if you want to burn fat."

with regards to building muscle i see how this works, to some extent. with regards to loosing weight, i dont.

Your body will store as much as possible if you aren't eating enough. It's as simple as that.

Starving yourself will hurt you more than it will help. Eating a healthy amount and exercising is the way to go if you don't plan on getting wigs for your anorexia.

and yet, if you eat not too much, say, 1500 calories AND exercise regularly, say, run 45 mins a day and lift to tone every other, your body should not have much left to store

so....body thus divides by zero?

Dont eat too little - if your body thinks its starving, it will try to conserve everything. Easiest way is to store fat. This is for people who drastically cut calories or eat below say, 1500 calories. Also comes with fatigue!

Eat more - Should be eat more *frequently*. You dont want to eat more, calorie wise, but you want to eat little amounts throughout the day, which can keep your metabolic rate up, which is good for fat burning.

Eating less than your daily requirement causes your body to lower your metabolism. Eating more than your daily requirement causes your body to raise its metabolism.

Eat at about 20% below your maintenance levels for 3 days, then eat at or slightly above your maintenance level for one day.
This should keep your body from going into starving mode.

thats not division, its subtraction.

There are a million ways to avoid starvation mode, and only a few ways to trigger it.

You'll know when it happens - headaches, grumpiness, fatigue, lack of energy and you'll stop losing weight on the scale, or you'll feel weaker while losing weight (muscle).

here's another, *Sometimes* your body will consume muscle not fat if you are in a true starvation mode. it's trying to conserve energy and reduce energy expenditure as muscles require energy to maintain.

It's not a contradiction, it's a range. You need to be above a certain point, and below a certain point. In between x and y.

Too much food and obviously you get fat.
Too little food, and you are starving yourself and attempt to retain as much as possible to survive.

Learn about BMI and a healthy calorie deficit. I don't know the numbers that well.

and what do you think constitutes a "healthy" calorie deficit?

im going on about 500 below basal plus exercise and i feel fine...others say they have seen results...

One that isn't starving you. Like I said, I'm not good with the numbers, research it yourself. It sounds like what you're doing is working.

eating fats stimulates fat metabolism (fat burning). more fats are burned by eating the healthy kinds in proper amounts. completely eliminating fats from the diet, as if not required by the body, is crazy mistake.

sugar spikes are stored as fats. especially in condensed sources like processed foods and pop.

The easiest way to lose weight is the 100% fat diet. Eat nothing but blocks of lard for breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, afternoon tea, late afternoon tea, dinner, supper, and midnight snacks, and drink soda out of a camelbak the whole day through. Eventually you will put on so much weight your body will collapse like a fucking NEUTRON STAR.
