Crunchless Abs Anonymous
hey /fit/ i was wondering if you guys know how to get a 6 pack without doing crunches. i hurt my lower back a few months ago and i haven't been able to do crunches without a burning pain in my back. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

leg lifts target the abs. You can also keep your back rigid and just do full situps.

The most important part is a low body fat %, though, which is obtained through diet and cardio.

well im all ready in pretty good shape. im 5'11 and weigh 145, so i have a really low body fat percentage. and i had heard that sit-ups hurt your back more than crunches, is that true?

Are you doing crunches properly? You should be able to do them without stressing the lower back. All you should be doing is bringing your shoulders off the floor, the lower back should stay in contact the whole time.

I injured my lower back doing situps, but crunches are fine.

Do bridges.

Side bridges, front bridges, and back bridges.

for side and front, prop yourself with an elbow (both for front) and hold your body rigid between your arms and feet. The same can be done for the back by elevating either the shoulders or feet then holding yourself rigid by flexing the back. Hold the positions for as long as possible.

I don't know if these will get you as much as crunches normally could, but it's better than nothing.

Anything where your body has to stabilize itself works your core.
