what are you trying to do? if you're going for keto, I'd think you'd need less carbs.

completely clueless about nutrition

I cut off carbs entirely after meal 3 and usually do cardio at that point. I figure I burn the glycogen stores there and get into a nice small temporary keto cycle from there on until breakfast. But really I don't know.

Agreed. I don't really know. I'm an endomorph at 13% bodyfat right now looking to get to 8%, lots of exercise too. But I pack on fat pretty easy so I'm doing what Venuto suggested for people like me and keeping the carbs low. In a day or two, I'll make it about 50% carbs for that day to stagger it.

I'm not a big fan of keto at all, but I don't think you should keep it up for too long. A friend of my did keto near the end of his cut because he was plateauing the last bit. He said he'll never do that shit again because he was so out of energy. In fact, he sort of got depressed after that and got some ED (not the typical bulimia or anorexia, doesn't really have a name), and stopped going to the gym. Luckily, I was able to get him back, though of course, he's not so into it anymore (but I consider it healthy now).

It's not completely keto though, just the last two meals of my day, which makes sure I'm mobilizing fat while I sleep. That's the theory anyways. I haven't had a horrible experience with keto in the past either... trained for a marathon on keto (I was stupid as fuck lol, for that diet, and for running a marathon), but I did lose a boatload of fat.

Ohh, stupid me, I didn't even see the oats for your first meal. Well anyway, unless you're really short or something, I'd increase your calories as well... 1700 just seems a bit low.

Yep. Weight loss diets should be as unrestrictive as possible, because they can potentially fuck up the way you look at food forever. All you really need to do is eat less.

Oh, I'm doing the stagger thing. I go 2200 to 1800 to 1500, then back to 2200, rinse repeat. I snacked marginally somewhere along the line today, so we can assume that 1740 is more like 1820.

Hah you're absolutely correct. True story. I'm just trying to keep myself as mathematically optimized as possible in this fatloss game before I go back to school in 2 months, and being unemployed and bored as fuck, I have nothing better to do than count grams.

Then what is the net effect of what I'm doing right now? I'm just curious.

Venuto claims cutting off carbs at around midday then burning through glycogen can leave him in ketosis until the morning. On the subject, i think if you feel fine and have no serious adverse effects, there isn't a problem.
