Why doesn't the government take action about all of the fatties in the United States? God fucking damn it, /fit/.

I think you are taking the wrong approach. If you act hostile they will simply be defiant. It's like telling a teenage girl not to date the punk that only wants to fuck her tight ass.

Give them incentives to stay in a healthy weight range. For example, an insurance company can offer them money back for each month they stay within a healthy range.

You could even do this for government taxing. Congress could pass a bill that gives everyone a tax break if they are a healthy weight.

In the long run it would actually make money because people would be healthier and the burden on our healthcare system would go way down

Actually one of Obamas plans if he becomes president is issue a "fat tax" on everyone quite overweight. (I guess its because companies that offer health benefits are losing money because of all these fat bastards). Anyway, they all go through a physical exam, if you are unhealthy (cholesterol, blood pressure, obese, etc...) they send you to a doctor and he tells you what you need to do to (eat healthy and exercise) If you dont show ANY improvement over a certain amount of time, the cost of your health benefits goes up (something like 50 bucks a month).

The government shouldn't have to protect people from themselves.

its not possible for our government to do anything. We need some one elses government to do something. CHINA please invade america and kill the fatties.

The government doesn't take action because they encourage it.

Nation of consumers, right. For some time, calories were considered among the hardest things to increase consumer demand for.

So, we have the USDA, which is designed to service agribusiness and petrochemical companies, winning over common sense when it comes to calorie intake of eaters(something everyone has to do).

It's like a big win/win/win for everyone at the top.
Food companies have people eating about 500 more calories a day than they did a few decades ago, easily.
Petrochemical companies are getting windfalls of benefits from corn subsidies, and all the plastic and energy heavily processed foods require.
Drug and health companies now have more opportunities for money because of fatness.

Why doesn't the government take action? People getting fatter grows the economy. Because, like war(which also generates economic growth), all growth is obviously for the good of the world.

If only unhealthy people comprehended that they need to change before they die of some "fat"-related death.

And that fat-tax is a good idea!
