Hello /fit/.

Male, 6'4, 106 kg, 17" biceps, 40.5" waist., not sure of my BF%.

I've just recently gotten into fitness. I am somewhat still "transferring" into a good diet. For example, tonight for supper I had rice with steam broccoli, but I cracked yesterday and had a corndog. I think its a matter of consistency, and I'm sure it'll come with dedication, and trial/error.

For cardio, I run anywhere 20-30 minutes, although I've only started maybe a week and a half ago. Usual speeds consist of anywhere from 5-6 MPH for jogging, and 8-10 MPH for running. After running, if I'm not tired, I'll do a few miles on a bicycle.

I don't lift, as of yet anyway, because of the fat content my body has stored. If I'm not mistaken, I'm right in doing what I'm doing, so as to lose the fat(cutting) before building the muscle(bulking), but please, correct me if I'm wrong so I can follow the right direction.

To the point, I have a few questions:

1. Should I drink protein shakes if I'm only doing cardio for the time being?

2. My ass is large. Its bigger than any of my friends'(inb4gay, I'm not). What can I do to rid myself of this, or will cardio suffice in the long run?

Lifting weights will accelerate the entire process. It is highly recommended that you start lifting now and get used to understanding how to squeeze your muscles. Bench press, Dead lift, Squats are critical exercises in developing muscle.

And yes good amount of protein is needed for your body anyways, but you don't necessarily have to get on a protein shake as long as you are getting good amount of it from your diet.

As for your ass, you will just have to lose weight. You can't really take out fat from a specific part unless you go on a surgery.
