Hello /fit/,

I'm 5' 9" 130lbs, and I can't seem to gain any muscle mass. I work out pretty much everyday with freeweights, and i do pushups/situps. I also eat a shitload, but despite all of this, I can't seem to put on any mass, fat included. Is this my metabolism? How can i slow it down or get around it?

In b4 mussel time and vitamin water.

Eat moar. No matter how high your metabolism is, it has a number. It can't be infinite. You simply have to eat moar then this number. If 4lbs of food doesn't cut it, eat 5. If 5 still yield no results, eat 6. You get the idea.

This was how I overcame my skinny-ness. Fiber helps in digesting faster to empty your stomach for the next meal.

Bottomline is, it ain't "eat X amount of food", its "eat more calories then your body can burn".

Eat more. I'd rather have your metabolism than mine. To keep my body fat low I eat <2000 calories a day.

Count your calories. Add 500. See what happens.

What are you eating exactly? Im 6'2" 170lbs. Im considered skin and bones too. But I eat like crazy. Wake up at 9, 6 eggs and oatmeal. 12, turkey burger, 2 protein shake. 3pm tuna sandwich + mashed potatoes + pineapple. 7pm PB & Jx2, 11pm 6 eggs + oatmeal + banana. And im probably STILL not eating enough.

I had the same problem as you a few months ago when I first started. I drank protein shakes, ate more than an entire obese family of americans and still didn't gain any muscle. (I just gained a little fat.)

I worked out every day, slept 7-9 hours a day, and didn't get why I didn't bulk up. Being the spineless faggot that I was, I quit.

It wasn't until two weeks or so after that I noticed that I had actually gained muscle over the time that I gave my time body to rest.

tl;dr, you might be overtraining.

I work out just enough so that I'm sore after the workout, but I'm never sore the next day, so I feel its okay to continue pushing myself. Is this destroying muscle? Should i give my body more time even though I don't feel sore?

do you know your daily intake ratio of protein/carbs/fat?

dring a protein shake within an hour after your weight workout, with about 40grams of protein. (do it yourself powders are better than premade shakes)

post your workout program, OP

This is literally what I thought.

I've spaced my workout more now, so I don't train the same muscles twice a week. I can actually see my deltoids now, imagine that.

I'm currently traning my whole body twice a week, with a days rest per week.

Should I keep going?

dont really have a workout program, i just have one dumbbell that i do a variation of lifts with. Do the same thing pretty much everyday. Most of the shit i do i dont even know what they are called, i've just mimiced what i've seen in the gym.

Well even though I dont have a strict workout plan or diet that I'm following, it cant be that there is absolutely nothing positive resulting from this. There has to be at least some gain, right?

Without rest, no. Stop doing something every day. Do weight lifting on MWF and cardio on TTS for example. Or skip the cardio and just rest on off days.

Rest days are fucking important.

bet OP has one big meal a day and thinks he eats a lot. If you eat enough you WILL on weight, since you havent put on weight it's obvious you're not eating enough or something is wrong with you
>> Anonymous
Your training routine isnt that important compared to your diet. If you dont train hard and eat enough you wont put on weight, if you train hard and dont eat enough you wont put on weight.
Heaps of my mates train hardout and complain they dont put on muscle and claim they eat a lot, but in reality they eat one or two big meals a day and thats all.
