I've been working out now since the beginning of this board and despite not having pictures before I think I have changed for the better. My focus is the development and the definition of my abdominals, and I know I still have a long way to go, but what do you think, /fit/?

If you can give a rough estimate, how much longer do I have to workout to see results? I'm willing to workout for as long as I can, but I'd be happy if someone gave me something to expect within a certain timeline.

I jog 3 miles 4x a week; do HIIT 3x a week; do the AbRipper X exercise module 3x a week and eat properly (with the occasional chips and soda - but rarely). In addition, I also play basketball if I have the time (as a replacement for running at times), and I do 4 sets of 25 reps of crunches every day that I don't do AbRipper.

This is the current picture of my upper body. Sorry for the angle, all I have is a laptop camera. The next picture will be the before picture, although that was of lesser resolution.

I know I still have a ways to go. I'd like some constructive criticism to my workouts as well as a timeline, if it's not too much. Thanks.

Fuck yeah man, you can see yuor starting to get that line near your hips. Once you lose the body fat you have around your stomach you will see defined abs.

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks! Any predictions on how much longer I have to exercise for my abs to be truly well defined? I'm still going to exercise, but it's great to look forward to something :)

good work. just remember that you need a routine that you feel you can stick with for a long, long time. as in, until you're old and in a wheel chair. otherwise you will end up gaining the weight again. all it takes is a couple weeks of laziness before the weight comes back, at least that's how it is for me.

I'm not going to brag, but the fat that I built up was simply from 3 years of eating shit. I have lucky genes that way. Of course I'm trying to live better now but I don't gain weight easily. The downside is that I don't lose it easily, either. :)

So, any timeline that I can expect for me to have abs?

Best exercises for abdominal development:

Deadlifts
Back squats (olympic style, high on the traps, shoulder width feet)
Overhead squats.

Looking good, OP! ~_^

Ab visibility is essentially just having low bodyfat. I'd second doing squats and deads - building up some decent leg muscle will make losing fat a lot easier. It's also important to strengthen your lower back - if you just work your abs and not your back you'll get imbalances which endanger your spine.

I'd need weights for that. I'm not currently a member of any gym and I've been spending time as efficiently as possible just to have the exercise as I noted in my original message.

Are there any alternatives, or do I have to just find weights instead?

two dumbbells and a small flatbench are not expenisive.

Okay, thanks. :C

if gym/weights really isn't an option, at the very least do some supermans for your lower back.
i'd recommend doing a basic bodyweight lifting program at home. it shouldn't take too long, and it will help you keep muscle - maintaining your muscle mass will help you lose fat (and thus see your abs) faster.
every day is too frequently to work your abs, they'll grow better if you give them time to recover.

i'd recommend
A: pushups, split squats, supermans
B: chinups, elevated-feet pushups (for shoulders), crunches
just doing them on alternate days.
