As far as I know, you still need reading glasses. So it won't completely get rid of the hassle of wearing glasses/contacts. But doing other things aside from reading books and computer stuff(?) that will be improved greatly.

I wanted it until I found out that they need to cut a slice off the top of your eye with a razor.

my cousin did it and it's great. Doesn't need any glasses anymore, not even for reading.

GO for it man.

They desolved my cornea with chemicals and then peeled it away layer by layer instead.

I had it done, ask me anything. It's great. I had it done at 21 (college grad present), about 9 months ago. I used to be 2/800, now I am 20/15 in both eyes.

I got Custom Lasik when I was 23. Amazing experience. I had the shittiest vision before, and 2 days after surgery, I was seeing 7-20! Eagle EYE!

The Custom lasik was awesome. I have 3 other people who i know that got PPK and are not nearly as happy with the results as I am...plus their recovery was horribly painful...mine was instant...yet I gave myself a day and a half of bed rest just to be sure. It is more costly, but very worth it. None of them could see as well as I have either.

It has been a year and a half and it is amazing how I take my new gift for granted. I have basically forgotten my old life of glasses and contacts.

One thing that I was warned about and has happened to me, is that my eyes are still more sensitive to bright lights than they were before the surgery. Driving at night sucks still...and has not gotten better.

Just be prepared to get some sunglasses and you will love your new eyes.

SO YOU WEAR SHADES AT NIGHT WITH YOUR EAGLE EYES? THATS PRETTY FUCKING BADASS.

I'm afraid of Lasik. I hear horror stories of bad doctors or problems after the surgery. I dont want really itchy and dry eyes, or halos at night, or going blind because the doctor or computer fucked up.

The down time scares me too. No physical activity for a week afterwards? That would drive me insane.

Buy a laser pen and do it yourself, its cheaper.

I think a lot of those stories come from back when it started.

Does anyone know how much it costs on average? I'm ok with my contacts but I wouldn't complain if I could get rid of them. If its maybe 1000$ I'd be willing.

Google tells me its around $2000-2500. Not sure if that's per eye or not.

Also, I'm considering it too but am more worried about the fucking slicing off a layer deal. Can you feel it? It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

thats for the full operation. My dad's friend just had it done, you do it per eye and seperate it by a couple months.

they freeze your eye so you can't feel anything and prop it open i think. There are no pain receptors there.

They don't slice anything anymore it's desolved by chemicals.

I plan on getting it about 10 years from now, once it's known for certain that your eyes won't fall out decades after the surgery or some other shit like that.

I'll get it when I the majority of optometrist don't wear glasses themselves.

And what poll showed that "majority" did? Quit being stupid.

GET FUCKING PRK SURGERY FAGGOTS, SCREW YOUR CHEAP LASIK, THIS IS YOUR EYES WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!

Who saids polls are the only valid research method? Don't be stupid.

agreed. PRK > Lasik
>> Guil

Polling would be the easiest and probably the most accurate way if they ever did it. How would you like them to collect the data on if they wore glasses or not, view their medical records? As if that would happen. Seriously, think before posting.

And learn to quote. Actually, just get off of 4chan.

Not easy enough for anyone here to pull it off, so shove it with your polls

So instead we just claim that majority of optometrists use glasses? All I asked for was a fucking source on the bullshit. If none can be provided take your stupid elsewhere. Just because the person who posted the above claim is too scared to do surgery doesn't mean they can make up statistics.

Also note that I said "they", and there's obviously no one here to do ANY type of study so that's a moot point.
