I do calf shit on my run days and quad shit on my erg days. My legs are more developed than any other part of my body (used to run track).
I didn't list them since I do that stuff along with ab work in between upper body sets, but yeah it's important. And doing hard cardio will help your practical leg strength as much as anything (running sprints, running stairs, rowing sprints, etc).
