I have done cardio for about a month already and my jogging varies between 3-5 km each day for about five times a week. I lost four pounds, and I fixed my diet. I only eat veggies and fish for the most part, with egg once in two days or so and a lot of fiber. I also do crunches everyday. How much longer will it take before I get abs? Will it take more than a year? I just want to know how long I will have to wait so that it won't frustrate me. Thanks.

Your answers will give me perspective. Thanks.

I weight 145lbs at 172cm, btw.

A full strength training routine would make it go faster, and...

...we'd need your body fat % to give you an accurate answer.

BMI, IIRC, has dropped to 21%. Really big, I know. :(

That would be 5'8"

21% is in the normal range for males (15-25%).

Can I still build up abs because of this?

You've confused body mass index with body fat percentage. A BMI of 21 is perfectly normal.

21% body fat, though, is bad. The recommended amount for males is 8-14%.

Now, if you have a BMI of 21 and you can't already see your abs, then you probably have more fat and less muscle than the average person with a BMI of 21.

There, calculated it. I'm at 15.5% fat. (more or less)

You're right. I just grabbed the booklet I got with my body composition scale.

For males ages 20-39:
<8% is low
8% - 19.9% is normal
20% - 24.9% is high
>25% is very high

You already sound like a good BMI and body fat%

Keep doing the cardio and diet. Look into strength training too. Muscles are a constant energy sink and can help with fat loss

This was relative to my waist and my height, though. I'm not sure if it works, but at least physically speaking, no one ever called me fat. A lot even call me thin, although I have just an unformed stomach - probably the years I spent eating fastfood, etc.

I play basketball once in a while. The cardio really helps with the performance: I mean, I can last an hour of b-ball nonstop because of the cardio. I'm also trying to do HIIT, although the first attempt wasn't very successful: I couldn't even jog after the second sprint, I rested too much, etc. I will try again tomorrow, though.

Oh, and does Ab Ripper X work? I'd like to try that, too.
