I'm actually quite surprised this section hasn't gone to shit and it makes me happy that this section can actually help people.

So here goes:

I weigh around 150 pounds, and I'm sadly lacking in the muscle department(ugh so skinny). I've been thinking of going to a gym(probably just use the school gym, no way I'm paying that much money to join a gym) but I have absolutely no idea where to start. So what would be some good exercise routines that could help me out? It's kinda sad when the only exercise I actually get nowadays is from playing ITG.

mhm. That sounds like a good way to start off. plus I have a treadmill at home that I probably should be using too.

I recommend beginning with the abdomen. Every muscle in your body excepting the ones in the legs relies on your abdomen to have something to work against. Crunches, or if you want tone/endurance, pilates.

Start learning squats/deadlift.

Master them, and become the very best!

Well, I used to be skinny also.

Granted, I'm not ripped now, but I'd say to go with

I started simple and did push ups and crunches at night.

Then add weights. Don't start too big (like x LBS, can only do 6 reps).

See also "Super Squats" by Randall Strossen (just buy the book, it's like 13 bucks on Amazon).

Whatever set and rep scheme you choose to use, focus all your energy on driving up your poundages on these exercises and their variations. When things start getting stale, switch it up. They are-

*Squat (King of Exercises)
*Deadlift
*Overhead press
*Bench press
*Pullup/chinup
*Row
*Curl

Work on getting good numbers in all those lifts. Eat 1.5 to 2 grams of protein daily per pound of bodyweight.

stick with compound exercises, man. make sure to include the big 3(bench press, squats, deadlift) in whatever you choose to have in your routine.

There are plenty if you look around the internet.
I usually hit up the gym three days a week MWF for and focus on a different section each day.
