Hey /fit/, is putting a couple of teaspoons of brown sugar on top of my oatmeal really bad if I'm trying to lose weight?
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
As long as you work it off, it won't matter.

I like brown sugar on my oatmeal also!

It is better than sex, IMO.

And there is nothing wrong with eating it, especially if it makes you able to eat the oatmeal. Seriously, I wouldn't be able to stomach that shit without sugar. Thirdly, the sugar is only 15 calories per tea(table?)spoon, and it doesn't take much more than that to severely improve the taste.

BUT FIFTEEN CALORIES IS EIGHTY MORE SIT-UPS YOU HAVE TO DO

According to Propel.

I fucking love pre-packaged flavoured oatmeal that you just have to add the brown sugar to.

Is brown sugar better for you than white sugar? Anyone?

3500 calories translates to about 1 pound of body weight, so if you normally eat 2000 calories per day, and cut back to 1500 per day, you'll eat 3500 calories fewer over the course of a week. So if you want to lose weight, you'd better use a sugar substitute (Stevia is all-natural -- look in the health food section), and find other ways to drive down the overall calorie total per day. Drink lots of water, too -- very often people confuse thirst for hunger. Talk to a nutritionist. Don't take advice on /b/.

This isn't /b/, dear.

It's still sound advice. Cut yer nitpickin'.

what about raisins?
>> Anonymous

but if you add 15 calories a day you lose

.03 lbs less per week!

unless you factor in the temporary metabolism increase...

so long as your overall calorie intake doesn't go in excess, a bit of sugar won't hurt. Nor will raisins.

However, reaching for a sugar substitute is still a pretty sound idea.

Or eating cold cereal. What are you, 60?

Also, remember that dieting alone can help you lose weight, but exercising and eating right is the only way to maintain it well.

food for thought.

Listen to this man.

As long as you know how much you're putting in, you know how much harder you have to work. (And frankly, that's no going to be too much harder.)

refined brown sugar is just as refined as refined white sugar. the difference is tiny if it exists, refined does weird shit to you body yo.

PROTIP: Pros don't eat refined crap.
