Chin ups or pull ups? Which one do you prefer and how many can you do?Are they effective muscle builders or just for strength?
Whats the difference between the two?I really have no idea...
Pull ups. I can do 25 in one set. or about 5x10.My lats now have stretch marks because of pull ups. They bulk you up.

Do both. They both work the lats, but there's variations in what else is also being utilized. Chin ups are easier because they make more use of the biceps than pull ups.I usually do both on the same workout day with, and finish up the last 2 sets with an added 25 or 30lbs on the belt.
i prefer chin ups
chinups, just load em up, more muscle the better imo. However pullups are good if you are a climber or wanna reinforce your overhead press more.
Wow thats amazing you guys can do that many.I can do about 6 chin ups and 8 pull ups. But i don't kick or do them fast, I lower myself down all the way and then pull back up slowly utilizing all my muscles.Any tips on how I can increase the amount of reps I can do?

>>481806more pullups than chinups? wtf? also fast up controlled (not necessarily slow) down.
>>481806lose weight, keep working on building the muscle.I'm fairly happy w/myself, a few weeks back I couldnt do any and now I can pop out a few a set. woo go me.
Can't pull my self up even once... And I'm not even fat.
>>481806Buy a belt and add weights.Pic very related!
>>481818jump up and lower yourself as slowly as possible. Do this a few times. Rest a day, repeat, rest a day... should be able to do one pretty soon. Start with a chinup ("easier")
Chin-ups let you use more biceps, pulls use more lats. For most people chins are easier.
I prefer chin ups, I find them easier?22 chin ups15 pull upsonce I hit 20 pull ups ill start adding weight to both
Fun lat day:2x10 weighted wide grip pull-ups2x10 weighted wide grip chin-ups2x10 weighted narrow grip pull-ups2x10 weighted narrow grip chin-upsStart the first week unweighted, then do what you can. 25lbs is usually good, but if you have a spotter you can try 35lb+Finish off the day with a couple general back exercises and that's your back day.
Pullups, weighted pullups with ROPE dont buy a belt
>>481870and where are you going to attach the rope too?if you tie it around your stomach, I would assume it would hurt...inb4 penis
Chin ups are for women that can't do pull ups. I can do about 26 pullups.
>>482009testicles you idiot
<-----3x3 80lb chin up, 75 pull-up, can do one-arm pulls. pull ups are a more functional movement. working both is important. Dont do wide grips, they are pointless and stress your rotator cuffs.
i can do 80 pull ups
but i thought the wide grip builds a more wider back and the narrow grip builds a thicker back
25 chin ups, 17 pull ups
>>482053Wrong... Rows (bent over rows, yates row etc etc) build a thicker back. Whereas various pullup exercises build a wider back
so what you're saying is that it doesnt make a difference if i do narrow grip or wide grip?
I prefer pull-ups, they feel like they work more muscles to me. I can do all of 4 at a time, but I usually do sets all day. And I weigh like 275 or something.
>>481806Practice.
I started doing 5 sets of 10 pullups and 10 chin-ups a month or so back, with a short down-time between each set, I too got big rather quick, fast enough to have minor stretch marks in my armpit areas.
>>482093ofc it does...if you do wide grip your penis will grow an inch
>>482053>>482053functional strength>hypertrophy for hypertrophy's sake
