HIIT + DDR? Anonymous
Sup /fit/

I play a lot of DDR. Usually play for 2 straight hours on weekdays and up to 5 hours per weekend session. DDR is almost mandatory in my book.

My legs are pretty awesome, but I'm thinking about starting a HIIT routine in the morning to help drop some body fat and shape up (probably sprinting or resistance track cycling).

Will I still be able to DDR on my HIIT days? Should I change my play schedule to fit around them?

do both but rest in between and drink water

i fear the other posters will not be as kind as i am

fuck ddr you fat cunt, it isn't exercise. EVER. does the fastest song on it ever get any faster? no? then it won't ever be any more challenging and you won't lose any weight doing it.

Sounds good. I intend to HIIT during the day and I play DDR in the afternoon/evening anyway... got the whole workday in the office to recuperate.

Expected. Did a DDR machine fall on you as a child?
I don't DDR for exercise, I do it for entertainment. At the expert level it's all about minimal movements anyway...

And as for getting harder, there's a magic pill called In The Groove with R21. I can AA LOM all day but I'll be damned if I have stamina for Blue Army.

i like it on light. it's not bad as far as exercise goes.
btw chill the fuck out

good, because it is not exercise. you shouldn't even be holding it up in the same category as exercise by asking if you can exercise the same day you play a stupid game.

yes, as far as exercise goes, it is the equivalent of curling 2lb dumbbells. you're doing absolutely nothing for your body. no it is not cardio.

It isn't exactly a workout, but it does require your legs to not be burned out. Would you be able to play Guitar Hero after doing finger/knuckle push-ups?

And no matter what shape or how efficient a DDR player is, there's no doubt you will work up a sweat.

Rule of DDR: the only people who hate it are those who have never played it, or who played it once and failed.

DDR makes me sweaty and gross, yet biking across town does not. This means it is a more effective exercise than biking.

i played it for quite a while when i was in high school at an actual arcade and would end up putting something like 20 bucks in it every time we went, my friends even got the home pads for the dreamcast, were in to it for a while then. but as a form of exercise, its shit. it does nothing for you. i lost no weight then, but when i actually went to a gym and ate right, wow! i lost weight! (60lbs in 3 months, and my lifts went up significantly)

so yeah, take your "rule of ddr:" horse shit, and whatever else you need to tell yourself so that you feel better about wasting so much time on a game and shove it up into the best part of your ass, as long as that doesn't get in the way of your ddring!

Which version of DDR do you play? I'm thinking about buying one....

Depends on your system.

If you have a PS2, Extreme and Extreme 2 are probably the best in the series. If you have an Xbox, Ultramix 1 and 2 are okay. SuperNova and everything after it is disappointing. Stick to the classics.

I have StepMania on my computer with the complete DDR official library. I also play on an ITG cabinet that I keep updated.

thanks man. My little brother has a ps2 dancepad...i'm going to find a way to use this pad with my computer for step mania.

Good thinking. You can find song lists from all of the other games online anyway.

You can't fucking walk properly if your legs are sore as hell, and playing DDR is about the same as walking.

>My legs are pretty awesome

How fucking rage inducing. You're a giant faggot. Your legs are shit and you know it.

Will you still be able to play a video game after your UBER INTENSE HIIT? Who cares, throw away that shitty game and don't come back to /fit/

If DDR is not a workout- then why does it have workout mode?

There are adapters for that. I've made a couple of PS1-compatible metal pads and use a USB adapter (I don't even own a PS DDR game). Should only run $15-$30.

Best adapter is probably the Super Dual Box Pro http://store.mymybox.com/ps2acc10.html

Since you already have Stepmania, go to ddruk.com, they have nearly all of the official simfiles for SM.
