Those "rib" muscles below the pecs are the serratus anterior. Look them up on exrx.net, it's kinda hard to describe. To work them, get in an incline bench position, then ench it, then to do the exercise you move the weight up more by moving your shoulders up, lifting the weight to the ceiling. The top of the movement looks like you're trying to incline bench as high as you can and the bottom looks like the top of an incline press movement.
