Soup /fit/,

He's the deal: I'm 6'2" and 130 lbs. I'm poor. I want to get to 180 lbs (normal BMI for 6'2), muscle.

On Thursday I'm going to look at a few local gyms, probably going to attend twice per week.

Where should I go from there? I assume, to gain weight, I need to eat food (teehee). I mostly eat health food shit, junk food has never been an attractor for me, so I'm mostly skin, bones, and muscle atm.

tl;dr BMI of 16.6. Want to achieve BMI of 20-22 (180lbs for 22), what foods should I look for?

Please, hand feed me knowledge, as searching the internet for information on this subject strangely confuses me.

EAT EAT EAT, aim for 3,000+ calories a day, with around 200grams of protein and 250-400grams of complex carbs, drink a gallon of water a day. Get on a good routine like 'rippitoes' or Bill Stars 5x5.

Listen to this man. Also maybe buy some dumbells and use those for milatary, pecs, and arm workouts. You can also do romanian dead lift with some for you legs/lower back.

At the gym, do mostly core workouts to gain mass. Things like power cleans, and squats buil mass. Avoid cardio, just do some jumping jacks, squat jumps, or plyometric jumps to help get your heart rate up.

Get someone around your skill level to go with you.

going to the gym twice a week is not enough! do what>>6149said, and minimize your running to 15 minutes per run. just to give you an idea since you said you're poor eat oatmeal (real oat meal, the kind that comes in the big tub.) in the morning its cheap and has a good amount of calories.
