Hey /fit/ness gurus, I have a question to ask. Can stress induce physical pain? I think stress may be causing me extreme pain and I don't want to wait five days for my appointment.

I circled the part where my head/neck hurts. It's at the very base of my brain if you don't open the picture.

Yes. Stress can and does induce pain. Do something relaxing.

Sorry, I said that wrong. I don't want to wait five days to find out if that's what's probably causing it. I already have the doctors appointment.

Breathing exercises seem to help a little bit, but I can't stop thinking about the pain... which I'd rate an eight or nine.

Thanks a lot. Like I said, breathing exercises help but the pain is so much I keep focusing on it. I guess I'll keep trying other things out.

Go to a family member you love deeply and give them a really big hug. Then go for a brisk walk to release endorphins. End that with warm bath and then finally a cold shower.

I can't always do that. This is the second time I've woken up with neck pain... the first time I had a nightmare and this time I found out my dad was beating my mom (In my dream).

I've had a lot of stress recently, but anger and stress don't always trigger it.

Exercise sometimes triggers it. Jumping rope does, but running doesn't.

That pain in the neck where you circled is the worst pain i have ever had, the only thing that gets rid of it for me is Ibprophen about 6 of them and a mountain dew, there is nothing else not even vicodens that work for me.

try just the caffeine/mountain jew next time. that much ibuprofen isnt good for you. if it doesnt work, just take the normal amount of ibuprofen and the jew, and wait
