Hey /fit/,

I'm a male of 18 years (167lbs 5'8) and I have been running 2miles three time a week for about 3 weeks. I have been doing push ups and I will begin crunches soon also. BUT I have a problem...and it is my butt. It's a little to big...so anyone know of any exercises or routines that could target that area? My University's gym as various machines and such. Help would be highly appreciated. Oh yeah, I am new to /fit/ and I just found this website on page 2 : http://www.exrx.net/Beginning.html

I am confident that my new /fit/ lifestyle will be great.

OP here, help please

Spot reduction is impossible. Run for a longer time and more than 3 times a week. Try and at least do a 5K.

Sounds plausabile...Would be ok If I ran 5 days a week, three being 2 miles and two being 3 miles? I also either ride an exercise bike or (one of those things you stand up on and hold and you move your legs foward and backwards in a running motion) for 2 miles. Also, I am looking to have a lean and cut body type....so How many crunches a day should I start with. Also what weights and machines should I work with.

What's keeping you from running more than 2 miles? More than likely it's just a mental barrier. It might suck the first day or two, but if you stick to it you'll be able to manage it fine.

Because now that it is cold outside I have to use the tredmills and I get sweaty after two miles and start breathing really hard. So yeah that looks laughable in the Universities gym...but tomorrow I'll start with three just to go to the next step, regardless of imbarrassment.

Onto strength and toning....what should I start out with?

>start breathing really hard
OH NO GUISE I WANNA LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT WORKING FOR IT HOW DO I LOST WEIGHT

OP, you didn't say whether your ass was fat or muscle

if fat, lose fucking weight, that's the only way (no spot reduction is possible, as per>>419485) and if muscle, sit around all day until you lose muscle OR get ebola

I don't know why your worrying about your butt, especially if there is no fat on it. It is genetics for the most part. Be proud, girls like guys with a nice butt, however big it may be as long as it is toned.

mostly fatty but there is strong muscle under there I can feel from three years of Tae Kwon Do. What are some good spot reduction exercises?

I'm sorry /fit/ if I am being annoying as hell, I just want to finally look the way I have always desired.

Alright, fine 3miles now instead of the normal 2miles.
I think I am also going to start Planche Pushups and some simple lunges...

What the fuck part of>>419485and>>419675do you not understand? Spot reduction is a fallacy. You can do exercises to build muscle in specific areas of your body, but there is no such ability to specify fat loss in discrete areas.
