Hay,
I'm new to working out. I've been going to the gym and running on the treadmill. I set it on an incline of 2.5-3 and run for 30 minutes. I walk at the start and end, and usually 2 or 3 times in between. After 30 minutes it says I've run "2.2" which I guess is Km. Am I doing it rite, or should I set it on one of those running modes where you enter your weight?

if you are going to do cardio *inside*, might as well do low impact. Use the elliptical/stationary bike/stair machine/row machine

Whats the advantage of that? Don't say low impact :P

2.2 isn't km unless you're walking... slowly. Running is between 5-7 mins per km. I guess the 2.2 could be miles. If it's not miles you really need to walk less and run more.

Actually, get off the threadmill. Those things fuck your knees up.

When you walk, bike, use an elliptical or something similar your bodyweight is put onto your knee gradually. When you jog or run your bodyweight is basically slammed onto your knee. This can mess your knees up, especially if you run on non-yeilding surfaces like treatmills or tarmac.

If this is the case, how do you prevent it from happening if you go outside and run?
