Whats up, /fit/? I come to you. After being a fatty my entire life, I wish to change that. I'm basically looking for former fattys gone thin. How did you do it? I know fruits, vegs, lean meats (fish chicken etc) and exercise. But what fruits and vegs to state away from? Which are best for ya? Actually, I have no problem eating the exact same thing every day. So if you could throw down a good daily diet, I'll go by that. Thanks in advance. Oh, and, I'm 6' 4" 290 lbs.

Pic related, tis I.

There aren't really any fruits and veg to stay away from. Just don't overdo the frutis is all. Eat as many vegetables as you like. Spot on with the lean meats.

Just don't forget that a good diet is useless without exercise. Join a gym, start lifting and doing cardio (running and ellipticals are best). Give it a few months of diligence and self-control and you're golden.

OP here. How about drinks wise. I drink a lot. A lot of water, and a soda at each meal (Always Diet Dr. Pepper) Are diet sodas really not bad for you? And if so, what else could I drink at meals or just when I'm thirsty for something other than water?
>> Anonymous
>>355711

And yes, it is. Why do you think not?
>> Anonymous
Instead of worrying/wondering about diet vs normal soda.

Throw the sodas away, they aren't beneficial towards your goal anyways.

I figured, but as I asked, what are alternatives? Fruit drinks have massive amounts of sugar in them. Or is it pretty much water, water, and more water.

Skimmed milk

Whole food, water and exercise. Nothing fancy.

Oh, unless you consider the complete and utter absence of junk, soda and take away for over a year fancy.

Is flavored water a useful substitute?

Maybe because you're old. But that wasn't my post, just offering insight. Also enjoy this.

From this point on, you no longer drink sodas, sugary fruit drinks, or alcohol, or coffee. You now only drink water and unsweetened tea.

From this point on, you no longer eat white bread, ever.

From this point on, you no longer eat any pork product or processed meat, ever.

Form this point on you no longer eat any other fat/sugar combo candy crap snacks at all.

From this point on, you avoid fatty add-ons like cheese and sour cream and mayo. Lean meat already has enough fat in it.

Food is now on there for one purpose, to feed you protein and good carbs as efficiently as possible. You do not care about how it tastes, if it has the nutrition you need, its fucking delicious.

-Buy cans of chicken breast, and frozen boneless/skinless chicken breasts, eat one a day somehow no matter what.

-Buy eggs, boil them, peel them, and put them in the fridge.

-Buy cottage cheese. Learn to like it with berries in it.

-Buy beans, learn how to cook and eat them every day.

-Buy bananas and toilet paper

-Buy oatmeal, one flavored instant, and one big tub of the boring unflavored. Mix them half and half every morning for breakfast with a boiled egg and a banana a multivitamin and a glass of milk. This is more important than any other meal. You fucking eat it and love it.

Eat 5 meals a day. Never get hungry, never get full.

Get some carbs and protein a couple of hours before your workout, and take some more protein and carbs within 30 minutes after.

Also pic related. Get some

OP here. Yea, thats me. And I'm only 22. And, your my new best friend, I think I love you, actually. Basically this weekend, I'm taking all my food out of the house and to the food pantry (the rest thrown out). Then off to the market to pick up these essentials. Anything else I should know before I start this adventure?

I think coffee should be okay IF you exercise, because caffeine gives you an extra boost. Also, coffee does not drain the body's water supply (that only happens after about 250 mg of caffeine, which would be included in about 4 cups of coffee) that much.
So drink a cup before you exercise, but don't drink more than like 1-2 cups a day.

BTW I'm german and got this information from the McFit magazine (McFit = chain of gyms in germany)

Your facial hair makes you look like you're 40 years old.

Also drink green tea.

The thing is, you don't have to stress that hard on your diet as long as you spread your meals out. Make sure to eat a good breakfast and then have some kind of fruit smoothie or protein shake as a snack before lunch. Take your normal lunch and split it in half, since you shouldn't be as hungry, and eat the second half about two hours later. Do the same with dinner but start it a bit earlier than later.

A big part of eating right is avoiding things that are genuinely bad, not having some perfect, regulated regiment. It's a LOT easier to avoid the bad shit if you don't ever let yourself get real hungry.

Beyond that, don't drink soda. Try and avoid fried or deep fried anything. Don't get fried chicken, get it grilled. Don't get french fries, get some potato salad or something. It's not great for you but at least it's not fried. Don't eat fast food at all. That shit is completely nutritionless. Even if you eat something "not good" like a bacon cheeseburger, at least get it at a Diner where it's real beef and bacon.

You won't even crave that stuff as much if you aren't super hungry.

That'll also build your metabolism. Combine that with some HIIT and some lifting (you can start off somewhat slow with HIIT and still see good progress as you work yourself up to more intense work outs.)

By the way, Diet sodas are bad for you in more than one way. All the fake sugars actually fool your body into slowing down it's metabolism and somewhat counter the reason for being diet (although people with diabetes drink it for different reasons.)

Chicken breast comes in cans now?!

Potato salad is arguably worse than french fries.

If you eat at home and you want to fry something, use low fat spray instead of oil.

Hey, thanks alot, man.

So, does anyone feel brave enough (I know this isn't /b/ but...) to give me their AIM name? I could probably use some coaching and shit. Not to mention someone to brag about when I hit my 10 pound steps. If not, it's cool and I understand.

6'1" went from 240 to 178 in about a year. Hoping to get down to 170 (15% body fat), and then start bulking.

For exercise I started out by taking a weight lifting class in college, and ran 1-2 miles 4 days a week before said class, rode a fixed gear bike to get around too.

*Jumping rope is a pretty awesome exercise, especially if you hate running (I like to do a little bit of everything cuz cardio is boring).

For food (just examples of what I eat):

-Lean beef, at least 4-8% lean (buffalo is good too)
-100% whole grain buns on burgers (if it doesn't say 100% then it's still got enriched flour in it, enriched flour = evil)
-100% whole grain bread
-Steel cut oats (Mccanns)
-Chicken, obviously
-Spinach, tomatoes, green/red pepper
-Balsamic vinegar for salad dressing
-Protein powder (American whey is good)
-Skim milk (mix it with the protein powder)
-Eggs/egg beaters
-Fruit (good for energy boost)
-Random vegetables
-Olive oil (if you have to use oil for cooking use this)

***Blackening seasoning!!!!! This shit will make almost anything taste amazing. I put it on burgers, fish, chicken, even vegetables.

Eating at least 5 times a day is really important, you will find that you will automatically eat less because you never get hungry, and it isn't time consuming, you don't have to sit down for each meal. Hell I'll eat a protein bar while I'm walking to the break room to make tea on a 15 minute break, point being it can take less than 5 minutes to eat a "meal".

Once you form good habits, don't break them, it's easy to do. If you hate eating a certain food or doing a certain exercise find an alternative, getting/being fit isn't something you should hate.
