The basic keys to bodybuilding/strength training or whatever bullshit you want to call it are as follows:

Train hard, heavy, long, and push yourself.

Eat a shitload

Sleep a shitload.

I'm tired of seeing OMG 5X5, sure that may be your way of training but I don't think the top men in this profession/sport follow this. Working out without a partner isn't pushing yourself, you should be going to failure on every exercise and you need a spotter to get you through your last reps.

TL:DR

shut up and put more weight on

Do you see elite lifters around here? Most everyone is a beginner or intermediate, hence why all the recommendations for Stronglifts and Starting Strength.

Not only is Stronglifts 5x5 aimed at beginner lifters, BUT THE ENTIRE PROGRAM IS ABOUT SHUTTING THE FUCK UP AND PUTTING MORE WEIGHT ON EVERY GODDAMN WORKOUT.

I commit everything from the workout session to short-term memory, and then go home and put it onto Excel. Same thing as bringing a notebook to the gym, but helps make you smarter.

only people I ever see with notepads are skinny noobs that I never see come in again.

This is akin to chopping down a tree with a club instead of an axe. It'll work eventually but it'll take a lot longer.

Training to failure is only ONE among many options for getting HUEG. It works well for skinny people but only if they really push themselves and have the discipline to train hard, but not too frequently or with high volume
