hey /fit/, don't come here often, but i need help.

i'm sick of smoking, and i'll be attempting to quit this weekend, as i want to get back into kung fu, and maybe take up parkour/free running.

i enjoy the habit as much as the drug, so my question is: what is something is can have in my mouth that will kind of give me the feeling of the habit, that i can use to alleviate stress by chewing on, etc?

in b4 dicks (i don't know if /fit/ is full of assholes like everywhere else on 4chan).

also, general quit help would be appreciated.

pic somewhat related, because smoker fail, do not want, etc

toothpicks are easy to swallow.

go with gum if it doesn't give you too much gas.

I chew pens and shit, but gum is probably the best option.

Either way you are going to want to smoke, fight it with willpower or buy the nicorette inhalator:

what helped me quit was whenever i felt like a smoke, is i would brush my teeth. that helped with the oral fixation part and it took a few minutes so i just kinda twisted the habit to something that would make my breath smell better as opposed to worse. after a while i stopped doing that because i didnt feel like smoking anymore and ive been smoke free since

i heard smoking is more addictive than weed, i know people who gave up weed and still smoke

anything can be psychologically addictive, even working out

however certain drugs like alcohol or tobacco are physically addictive. Meaning that your body actually craves those things and you get withdrawals. Even in studies by the U.S. government marijuana has proven to not be physically addictive.

Hey, here's some actual advice from an ex-smoker:
- quit on a moment you won't actually be seeing too much people you'll have to interact with (sunday is a nice day for that), or you'll find yourself kicking a toddler in the supermarket because it looked at you funnily
- chew some nicorettes if you start getting too moody
- always take some apples with you. You can eat them anywhere, you won't put on weight and it gives you something to do with hands & mouth at the same time

I quit smoking about 10 months ago using that Chantix drug. It worked better than any other smoking cessation method I have ever tried, and I have tried them all. With chantix you have to start taking the drug a week before your quit date, then hold to your quit date. I did not do that, I kept smoking until I was indifferent to the cigs, the number of smokes I had decreased each day. good drug, but stay away from drinking for a little while, just never go back, as soon as you go back and start smoking you already lost.
