>>42929How long do muscles need to rest? I'm worried about doing chinups on the same day as benchpress, mostly as I have no idea what muscles and musclegroups either work on (don't have trainers, private gym. And my training partner is as unexperienced as me (I read SQUATZ and BENCHPRESS are the 2 of the most important workouts)).
On the off chance that someone wants to know the answer: Muscles need as much recovery as they need. The time period involved varies from one person to the next.
As you increase your work capacity, you will be able to train the same muscle groups more often. Louie Simmons, powerlifting coach and human battering ram, trains as many as 21 times a week. He's spent his whole life building up to that level of work. (He's also been on steroids continuously for almost 40 years. Just ask him.)
If your poundages are going up and you feel up to it, don't worry about throwing an extra workout into your routine. If it's Thursday and you're bored and you want to do some pullups, DO FUCKING PULLUPS THEY WILL NOT RAPE YOU AND KILL YOUR DOG.
Hope that helps somebody.
