Hi /fit/,

What are the downsides of staying up all night (besides the obvious fatigue)?

I also plan to go jogging if i end up staying awake all night...

I'm guessing it'll make it harder for your body to repair muscle tissue since more and more stress is being added, but hey that could be a good thing. I once stayed up 26 hours before going running, and it was beautiful. I ran 10 miles that time, and I was usually only used to 2 mile runs. The fatigue is surprisingly more there when you've just awoken compared to having not slept in a while. I say go for your run, and push yourself far without much pain or soreness in the process.

fail.

growth hormones are released when you sleep. even if you were doing both weight-training and proper cardio, if you weren't getting enough sleep, you're still putting strain on your body.

you need the full 7-8 hours, or you won't get the full benefits of resting and repairing your body. You'll initiate muscle fatigue, greater possibility of damage from strain.

too much God damned artificial light in your room. Turn it off, block it out, do it. stop trying to convert to a night owl. stop doing weird things. Do the normal thing.

ALSO, you "best" sleep is usually before midnight.
