in the short term, they're fine, just don't stick with it for too long

Once again, no.

Actually OP, what answer do you want us to give you? What answer do you want to hear?

Well, I'd just like to hear more opinions on whether cutting down drastically/cutting out carbs entirely is or isn't dangerous before I do anything that might be stupid.

They're effective, but not healthy long term.

It will work short term but you shouldn't do it long term meaning you will have to eventually just eat healthy like doctors have been saying for decades.

they won't kill you
but some people feel like shit without carbs

They work for some people, don't for others. If done correctly, there's no harm.
Most people know fuck all about them but just badmouth them on the basis of hearsay. I'm not a fan of Atkins though, not just because of all the faddists that ruined the image but because it doesn't address protein intake or balanced eating.

They require pretty strict eating which isn't easy in this age of convenience foods though.

They are effective, but if you just sit around eating fat and protein all day with no exercise you're still gonna be a giant fat ass. Probably gain it all back when you stop too if you do manage to lose some.

I'm not really sure about the validity of some of the claims about ketosis and a preference for burning fat. However, the cutting of simple sugars DOES decrease cravings. Calorie management is probably the most important part of losing weight and low carb diets do make it a little easier.

I find it pretty easy to follow, apart from days when I miss a couple meals during the middle of the day. I eat between 1500-1800 calories, eating when I'm hungry. 1hr of cardio plus some light strength training to avoid losing muscle. 8-9lbs a month, stronger every month. Metabolism is still decent.
