Water Anonymous
I drink a lot of it because I know its good for me, but I just realized the I don't know any other reasons why I drink it besides to stay hydrated. So exactly why is drinking so much water good for you (besides hydrating)?

As long as your urine is either clear or a light yellow it's fine. Any dark yellow means your kidneys are going through too much strain to add more filtered material to already concentrated urine.

i believe the main reason is to maintain cell pressure for propper electrolyte retention or something. you need x amount of water per day to do this depending on activity level.

besides being a core component in your cells and crucial to keeping your body from becoming a dry toxic husk... it really does nothing for you, not even give you calories

you perspire some water weight every day, as water vapor, even when not sweating from exercises.

You lose some water in your breath, sweat and defecation every day that needs to be replaced. However, the main reason is to filter waste from your blood stream through expelling urine. Things such as dead red blood cells, salts, some protein and sugars. If you ever cease to have enough water, the first thing you will notice is your urine becoming darker and possibly more acidic. If your urine is clear and not a pale yellow, it means you are drinking too much and could damage your kidneys.

the color of urine is much better indicator of need for water than thirst. i'm pretty sure i read this in the book: The Body's Many Cries for Water.. as I read no other such source of stuff.

Be warned, it was a too wordy for me to finish though.
