I know that this is has been answered multiple times, but how much protein is too much? I've heard theories ranging from no amount is too much, to 1 gram per pound of body weight, to 1 gram per kilogram (which to me seems to make the most sense). So, I ask you /fit/, how much protein is sufficient?

it depends. i think they say you should eat about 1 gram for every pound of body depending on your goals. If you're trying to build lots of muscle or are training athleticaly then you should eat that much and maybe some more. if you're just trying to stay fit than that should be the most you eat.

These articles are tailored towards inactive people. Most people on /fit/ should be eating more protein than this.

If your farts are starting to smell really bad, that means you're taking in too much protein.

Undigested protein goes to the bacteria in your colon, which eat it up and produce that awful smell.

I think one gram per pound of lean weight is the ideal number to shoot for if you're on an intensive mass-gaining program. Of course, you should consider your weight as well. A 150 lb. guy won't have much trouble eating 150 grams of protein a day. But a 250lb. guy will need a big apatite to get 250 a day.
