hey /fit/, I was wondering,

I'm joining kickboxing next month, and was wondering what I could do to prepare for it? I'm fairly fit, but I lack flexibility, and my legs aren't that strong. what would /fit/ suggest for me to do to make it so I'm not a complete fail when classes start?

In all seriousness.... Squats

Mix it up between sumo and Hindi squats, and work your adductors / abductors to help on kicks. Flexibility is just stretching over a lengthy period of time, but don't try to go too far in one sitting.

I looked up sumo squats, one was with a dumbbell between the legs, the other was with two in either hand with a kicking/leg shaking motion, which were you referring to? does it matter?

Can't really do much in one month. I would suggest trying to up your cardio I guess, if kickboxing is anything like muay thai in terms of conditioning.

stretch every day before and after your workout.

practice straight-leg leg swings. just try and kick the top of your head with the top of your foot.

jump rope.

squats.

the rest is technique that you need to be taught.
