Udo's Oil vs Fish Oil Anonymous
Soup /fit/,

I bought a couple jars of fish oil caplets, and have been taking them thrice daily. Also, I bought a small bottle of Udo's oil, which I am putting in my morning shake.

Is it okay to take both at the same time, or am I just putting in extra calories that are going to be wasted? Should I just skip that fish oil dose?

Also, a side request: I need a recommendation for a morning shake. My top goal is weight loss, but I'm also looking to gain some lean muscle. If anybody has an old standby, let me know.

jesus, woman. I dont think this is the case, but why are you so worried about counting callories? Stay on your step machine for a few more minutes...

I'm not **that** concerned about calories, but if I'm not going to get any use out of half the oil I take in, I may as well not take it.

I see Udo's oil talked about a lot on here, I figured somebody would know.

1 g fish oil ~ 8 kcal.

1 tbsp Udo's enough with 3-4 fish oil caps.

So I'm wasting my time with the fish oil then?

I'm looking at the flaxseed oil capsules I take 3x a day. Each capsule only has 10 calories.

You'd have to take 350 capsules in a day to gain a pound.

OP here:

I think everybody is getting the wrong impression here. I am really wondering how much is too much.

I'm probably going to keep taking Udo's oil with my morning shake and take a fish oil cap with it, but I was hoping somebody would be able to tell me whether I should just be taking one or the other instead of both at the same time.

Well, first you have to understand that Omega 3,6 is what you are after and it has to be within a certain ratio you don't need as much Omega-3 as Omega-6.

These sites will tell you exactly how much you should take for fats. Taking more than that will effect your blood and make it thin.

THIS is the answer I was looking for. Thanks!

Now about that morning post-workout shake, anybody got a recommendation?

Well, post-workout shakes are taken to maximize protein absorption after weight training. however after a cardio session it's worthless, and possibly bad since the body continues to burn calories even after the session.

So after weight training get some whey protein powder and mix it up with water and take it. Or have some boiled eggs.

>you don't need as much omega-3 as omega-6

That should read in reverse. You need more omega-3 than omega-6.

No the body needs two-three times more Omega 6 than 3 to process both correctly

BUT average persons diet contains 30-40 times more 6 than 3 that means you don't eat enough 3. which is then supplements with Flax, Fish oil

Okay, if I only do cardio, skip the shake. I did four sets of regular, decline, and incline bench this morning, so I'm probably good.

Jesus H Christ, now I'm confused. I'm going to just keep taking the fish oil three times daily, except when I use Udo's at a meal.

I'm hoping this does the trick.
