What are some good, low side effect, non-illegal stimulants that I can use a few days a week for a graveyard shift position? I'll be getting roughly 6-7 hours of sleep, 3 or 4 days a week, then catching up on the extra days.

I know stimulants are not a substitute to actual sleep, but as long as I get extra sleep on the extra days (and I will be doing upper body training and cardio at the gym on these days) I should be ok for the most part.

No such thing. Read any literature or talk to anyone that knows shit about sleep and they will all tell you, you can't "catch up" on sleep. Hence why the guy who set the world record for longest time gone without sleep (11 days) only slept for about 15 hours the first night afterwards, like 10 the next night, and then was back to normal. The entire idea of "catching up" on sleep is bollocks.
