Day 4 /fit/!

I said earlier and I'll say it again, I'm down 10 pounds since I started running daily... ridiculous. I hope its not just some random fluctuations, otherwise I'm making a fool of myself, business as usual.

OT: I need a haircut, any suggestions?

Still considering purchasing some freeweights to mess with, basically a barbell set (I have no use for dumbbells) with around 100-200 weight included would be nice. And of course a rack would be nice if it were included, not to mention a bench for bench pressing.

Not sure how much working out is going to turn me pretty, but damn it I might as well try.

Dumbells are all you ever really need. However, as long as you make sure you're extra careful, a barbell set wouldn't hurt.

As for the hair cut, go into a barber shop and ask for army/marine regulation, with however much you want off the top (in inches).

Maybe I have the two mixed up? I want the longer bar that you use both hands to pick up, not the smaller ones for each arm. Most of the exercises recommended here are done with a barbell, but I can see how they could be done with a pair of dumbbells too.

You had them named properly, I only said that because it's typically safer and just as effective to use dumbbells in place of a straight bar.

It's all water weight. It's common to lose that much... but if you totally stop eating except for water, vitamins, and fiber, you can expect to lose a full or half pound daily from here on out.

I say this from experience.

I've eaten less than 1800 calories a day so far, my recommended intake is around 3k for my size/weight, so I think that has a lot to do with it. I take vitamins and drink assloads of water, eat lightly but frequently (basically whenever I get the chance I have something in my mouth, like celery or fruit). Maybe its water weight, but again, I'm doing the right things so... I don't think its coming back.

Oh yeah? Let's see what happens once you stop exercising and eating nice every day. Keeping that up for the rest of your life is going to be a hassle when all the time in the world goes away.

It's water weight.

Don't feel disappointed when you stop losing 2.5 pounds a day.

o_o;; it only takes 30 minutes a day to do this, and believe it or not, eating lighter is CHEAPER than eating the way I used to (I used to blow something like 60 bucks a week on food, god damn)

I'm in this for the long run, as soon as I bottom out I'm going to start eating for weightgain so I can actually have, you know, some muscles.

30 minutes of activity sure, but how much to prepare for it, including getting yourself to the starting point of running, hydrated up properly, having not eaten immediately prior? Full hour when all's said and done? Want to try that when you start working, where your only options are morning, lunch break, and night? Morning running feels like shit, a lunch break really isn't feasible when you consider how much you'll be sweating afterward in your work clothes, and night is kind of a waste since the point is to get your heart rate a little up for the rest of the day on top of the actual calorie burn from direct exercise--and sleep will just plunge that all the way down.

Depends on your lifestyle, really. I'd say exercise is much more key to this than eating, also. Exercise makes your body want a better body for exercising with, food is your choice for how fast you want to let that happen.

Weightloss isn't about what your eating when you start to exercise, so the whole bit about eating is irrelivent, outside of that, it takes me 15 minutes to throw on some pants/shirt, gather my pass up, and drive over to the local YMCA. I spend an hour there, then its another 10 minute drive home. 15 minutes later, im ready for work.

Theres no reason you shouldn't be able to take 30 minutes out of your day to exercise, there just isn't.

So you're saying that's a total of 2 hours in full for exercise out of your day? Not everyone has that.

... if you work for 12 hours, you still have 4 hours to work out. If you work 12 hours a day, that means you should only work 4 days a week, more if you do a lot of overtime.

Believe it or not, many MANY college students do full time classes, a part time job, and an active sport, AND THEY STILL WORK OUT RELIGIOUSLY. Its not that hard, and working out helps you focus on doing homework as an added bonus, you get better grades and graduate from college quicker/higher marks.

finally a board on 4chan that I can use my degree on.
Exercise Sports Science major here (ok so only a 2nd year but still)
You should lose only about a pound or 2 weekly. With such a drastic weight loss then it is mostly just fluids, which is quite normal.
If I had your weight, age and height I could do the quick math to determine how much energy you burn. And also how long do you run? there are formulas for finding out how much Kcals you burn for that.

People tend to say they "have no time" for exercise or certain activities. It's a load of crock.

All they're saying is "I'd rather spend my time doing this than exercising". Believe me, I go to school full time, have a part time job as a waiter, get 7-8 hours of sleep nightly, and still have time to exercise for 45 minutes, lurk 4chan, and hang out with friends to play Warhammer 40k or something of the sort.

You can also free up a lot of time by just doing things quickly. Being lazy with household chores or getting ready in the morning/other shit takes up a lot of time.
