I'm new to working out and well in my routines I have squats and deadlifts, but should I throw in some back extensions as well? Do you any of you do them regularly?

Why would you do extensions? Just do more deadlifts lol

If you can do a good set of extensions after doing deadlifts, you should probably increase the weight of the deadlift. I don't know, there may be a good reason to do extensions, but as far as I know deadlifts are the superior exercise from all aspects.

People don't have to stick to just deadlifts. I know you think you know it all after reading Starting Strength, and you take every opportunity to critique every exercise but the main 6. It shows and it's really sad.

any amount of lower back work is a welcome addition to any work out. Believe me. It's easy to neglect that portion of your body...and when other things get stronger and that area stays weak...injury isn't too far off into the future.

I do 3 workouts a week, and one a week includes 3 sets of back extensions. I fucking love it.

But I don't do the compound exercises that others here suggest, because I work out alone, and I don't trust fucking heavy freeweights when I don't have a spotter.

People talk too fucking much for me to workout with them; my time is precious and I don't wanna bullshit about stuff while I'm trying to lift.

definitely throw in some of these! have as much variety as possible. just doing two forms is stupid, you need to vary your shit or the body gets too used to the forms, and it won't benefit. cycle through various kinds of workouts.

i do them. i love them. i'm a small guy (5'6" 140lb), usually i hold 1-3 plates while doing it, depends how well my back is feeling. don't want to bust it up, but improve it.
