is too much protein a bad thing on the days you're not working out?
>> Anonymous
too much of anything is bad they say. but no, eat lots of protein
>> Anonymous

kinda contradiction on yourself but okay

You build muscle on your rest days too you dumb fuck. Here's an (oversimplified) explanation. You work out. It breaks your muscles. Then they rebuild themselves stronger.

...They don't rebuild without protein. Eat that shit. Yes also on your off days. If you aren't eating over 1gram/Lb of body weight than don't even start worrying about "taking too much."

Besides, the worst that happens if you really did eat "too much" protein is you would gain some weight.
>> Anonymous
depends on "too much"

eat 1.2 x your body weight in lbs. of protein if youre tryna bulk
>> Anonymous
oh yeah and if you do eat too much then it will turn into fat
>> Anonymous
1 gram per fucking pound you weigh? So I weigh 150, I need 150 grams of that shit?

OMG If I hear one more know it all cock sucker say it's one gram per pound I'm going to off myself with a bear trap.

It's one gram of protein per KILOGRAM. YOU. STUPID. MOTHERFUCKERS!

A fucking kilogram is equivalent to around two pounds, so with that in mind you need a little over half your bodyweight. If your 200 pounds you want about 110-120 grams if your lifting weights.

Fucking /fit/, man. Seriously.

Enjoy your fail ass idea that you need 1 gram per pound. Idiot.
>> Anonymous
If your lifting weights you need about 1.2-1.3 grams per kg, as opposed to the .08 recommended for regular people.

>>383821
I'm guessing that's just for maintaining your current average body. Those of us who actually work out and want to increased gains take more.

Accordingly, an individual who would like to add muscle should focus on combining a sound resistance-training program with a well-balanced, calorically dense diet.

Most exercise scientists and dietitians agree that exercise does not significantly increase the body's need for protein. A few, however, believe that physically active individuals have an increased need for protein.

Peter Lemon, Ph.D., professor of applied physiology at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, is a renowned advocate of the theory of increased protein needs for athletes. He recommends that athletes consume between one to one-and-a-half times more protein than the established RDA.

The established being .08grams per kg. So... why keep arguing that it's 1g per pound because some fuck all site said so?

You know what, guys? Just keep doing that whole 500 grams of protein a day thing. When your liver and kidneys fall out the tip of your dick be sure to post pictures.

Look at bodybuilders' diets. Those who actually did the exercises and stuck to diets. They're the ones who I'd believe. It comes down to who you would rather put your faith in. A proven diet that works that PROFESSIONALS use or some fucking nerd like you guys who works with test tubes and bullshit messing around with protein molecules deciding whats right when his ass is playing WoW after work like your fucking pathetic dumbass.

always rememeber WHO the subjects they test on are.

actually read the studies. anyone w/ the slightest background in statistics knows that "raw data" can be manipulated to "say" whatever you want it to say.

never take these things @ face value. RD's bleet like stuck pigs over athletes "never needing supplements" and "having way too much protein" etc. agendas.

i will say however, it is unlikely that any person needs more than 1gm per lb. bw. (ie. a "ceiling" value)

but then again, it certainly WILL NOT BE HURTING YOU as long as the rest of your diet is balanced (tons of fruit and veggies) and you are w/out renal dysfunction.

quoting bodybuilders is even more foolish than being a slave to studies. both generally use outliers to prove their positions. the truth lies somewhere in between.

protein supplements are arse unless you are training every damn day (means CARDIO faggot), full stop.

if you intake vast amounts of protein you get fat packed round your organs and heart, and you'll get lovely fat ingress in yer liver.
>> Anonymous
Nobody needs protein powder.

Anything you can get from a disgusting industrial slurry you can get better from real food.

Take a nutrition course, for the love of God. Yes too much protein is a bad thing.
