Advice please. dee
Ok, so I've known for some time that i haven't been in the best of shape. For the past 6 months I've been living in this apartment, and the mirror in the bathroom only showed my face and chest. Aside from that i had no idea what my body looked like. I mean... i know i'm chubby. But today i moved into my new appartment.
This mirror shows my whole body down to my lower thighs and i realized. HOLY SHIT, I'm fucking fat. I don't have a scale, but i believe I'm 190-195 pounds, and about 5' 7. I have been doing sit ups about 2 sets of 50 a day.
And i do push ups about 2 sets of 12 a day.
Plus i have a 20 pound weight which i curl 2 sets of 12 a day.
I should probably start running/jogging.
Plus a better diet.
But I'd like to hear any advice fit/ might have to offer.
No, i don't have a gym membership, and i can't afford one. And i really hate running, but i know I'll have to do at least some if i want to lose any weight.
In before an hero, liposuction, and fails.
Thanks

Running is fantastic. But at your weight walking 3 miles a day will cut down the weight in 6 to 9 months. Slow but steady results. You could speed it up if you jogged. literally.
5 meals a day is good.
honestly it seems like you just wanna lose weight, so the lifting and push ups are unneeded, they'll just burn you out.

the tricky part is motivating yourself. i can't give much of an answer for that one.

im sorry, but is /fit/ a fucking revolving door? when 99% of the traffic each day are completely new to /fit/ and any concept of training?

Anon, you have asked this question, with out fail, at least 10x a day, every day. always.

then you ask about losing weight, with out fail, at least 10x a day, every day. always.

Perhaps there should be a sticky'd topic that would comprehensively answer peoples questions like OP in one go. Or have a link to a pastebin instruction set ready.

But gosh, that would be trying to contribute. Don't want to get carried away.

Running IS a good idea for you; doesn't have to be fast, but you should feel like you're running just faster than your comfort point when you do (remember to keep pushing harder, as you'll quickly increase your stamina if you're not doing anything at all). Run for at least 20 minutes three times a week.

Lifting weights will help you tremendously, coupled with the right diet. As your body starts building itself, it will actively burn the lard that envelopes your currently grotesque body. go to bodybuilding.com and grab a beginners workout there. I'd advise against supplements if you're trying to just kill the fat. Make sure you're lifting at least 3 times a week.

No kidding, your current exercise regiment sucks balls, and it's obvious why you've become fat. 2 sets of 12 pushups? So you can do 24 pushups a day, but not in a row. You can't just pick a short program and stay at that level forever... you need to be pushing yourself in everything you do, otherwise it's not good exercise.

For your diet, just try and cut out proccessed foods and sugars as much as you can, cut out carbonated drinks completely, and try the 5 meal a day plan.

If you can stick with the above advice for only TWO months, I guarantee you'll see visible results in your mirror. Seriously though, get a scale.

Thanks again.
I'm gona go for it.
I think my only real obsticle is stopping the soda.
I think an easy solution would be to buy a pitcher so i could put water in it.
Its just that all my family buys is Soda, so when i'm thirsty and i want something cold, all i see is soda, Dr pepper and shit. And tap water is just gross cold.
So i guess i'll ask them to buy big packs of water or something.
thats the first step, next is the jogging.
I'll need a way to keep track of what days and how long
and hopefully i won't fuck it up hahaa

I think you will find that once you stop drinking soda, you will just feel better, additional exercise or not.

You might try getting into tea (green is my favorite). NOT sweetened tea, just tea. Green tea doesn't have a lot of caffine, and beside, much of the caffine in tea you won't be able to absorb anyways because there's a chemical partially blocks your body's ability to absorb it. Another thing to reduce caffine is to reuse the leaves. Leaves are good for bunch of brewings.
