Fingernail Anonymous
This has been happening to my thumbnail for the past month or so. The nail becomes bumpy and brittle, and now there's some sort of receding hairline-type thing going on. It also seems to be happening on my left ring finger.

What the hell is this, and do I really need to worry about it?

Looks like a fungal infection. It usually happens on the toenails but can on your fingernails. See a doctor and they'll give you some meds to kick it.

I had that when I was little...nasty stuff. I used to pick it off and toss it at the other kids at school.

I had an intense fungal infection on one of my big toes right when it was getting ingrown, and for the longest time I never told anyone. The pain got really unbearable, I remember one I kicked a soccer ball in PE and almost fell over from the impact, took my shoe off later and the toe area was soaked - like, dripping - with blood.

...so yeah, shitsux. Just be glad you don't have chronically regrowing ingrowns on your feet and hands, I guess.

Is it a hallucinogen fungus?

Human fungal infections are all hallucinogenic. Next time you have athlete's foot, or if you're a chick a yeast infection, dig some of it out and snort it.

is the nail sort of like not hard? if you try to pick at it with your other nails it folds back on it's self?
