Is white rice bad for you when you're trying to lose weight? I'm not really into the whole low carb dieting shit, just eating healthier foods and eating less coupled with an 45 minutes of moderate-intense excercise.

eat brown rice.

That's a stupid question, and an even worse answer ->>91848

Rice is carbohydrate heavy. Rice is fine for breakfast or lunch, but avoid it for supper or later in the evening. Your body has a tendency of converting late night carbs into fat.

OP would be surprised about how much carbs are in a small bowl of white rice, about the same size bowl in OP's pic.

white rice is basically just brown rice with the hull taken off. it has about 2 fewer grams of fiber per serving, but other than that, white and brown rice are nutritionally the same

I've been eating different rice recipes for dinner for many nights since January in order to lose weight. I've lost about 44 lb so far.

brown rice requires more energy for digestion also. (moar calorie burning)

white rice does not just have the bran layer removed. you also lost the germ, which contains the proteins and micronutrients. what's left is the majority of the rice grain, the "meaty" carbohydrates. the grain is polished, etc.

As for them being "nutritionally same", I'm just going to post this link http://www.greenlivingtips.com/articles/94/1/Brown-rice-vs-white-rice.html

Jesus, carbs aren't the worst thing for your body. They'll only screw you over if your workout plan isn't proportional to what you consume.

This isn't Atkins.

Agreed. When carbs are eaten together with proteins, it's all of absorbed more slowly, and doesn't spike insulin so much. and spiking insulin is not a good thing, that's where diabetes comes from. Atkins' high protein diet is both environmentally unfriendly and unsustainable. I'm personally a fan of the zone diet. I try to have some protein and fat included with every carbohydrate meal.

Just white rice blows.

Agreed.
Maybe I have a weak sense of taste, but I can't usually tell the difference between white and brown.
