Cardio that doesn't really use your feet?

So I didn't rip my Achilles heel but it fucking kills since I run everyday and i think it may be a bit too much. The problem is I have a marathon soon and my doctor says I should give it a rest.

Ok so I came to terms with missing the marathon but I still want to do cardio 3-4 times a week since I love it and it makes me feel good and not depressed. He said i can't run/jog/swim/bike.... what in the FUCK!?

Do I walk? That's fucking useless. Is there any exercise or machine that I can do that pretty much doesn't use my feet? this concept doesn't make much sense to me but I
m so blinded by rage that I was wondering if anyone could answer my question.

In before "just run faggot" no thanks, ripping the achilles and actually doing major damage will require surgery and fucking FOREVER to heal properly so no thanks, looking for alternative cardio that is effective please.

Hmm good one, yeah I guess I'll sign up at the gym ... I workout from home and run in the park.. is elliptical that one that looks fucking stupid like your doing cross country skiing or something?

sigh, i think they look dumb but I'll use it I guess.. if it gets my HR up enough.

You ever try an elliptical?

have you ever tried pool running?

>>335409

No I haven't... is that like at the beach when you run into the water... except I assume poolrunning is like just running non stop in deep water?
>> Anonymous
yeah basically you either get a life vest or a noodle or something that keeps you afloat then just run like normal in deep water where your feet don't touch the ground. You get the same workout as if you were running just without the impact. It really helped me when I hurt my ankle before cross country season

Elliptical is a good machine if you use it right, I get a good sweat and decent heart rate on them.

Ok man, I work for Orthopaedic surgeons, here is my 2 cents.

Most likley, if you havent torn anything, its inflammation. Take some advil or aleve regularly.

It could be just some achillies tendonitis, which basically means inflammation. If its more under your heel, you might have a heel spur. Advil/Aleve could help it, or see your Doc for a script of Celebrex or Relafen.

You can try some Dr shoels, switch to new balance shoes, try running that way. Or, do some biking/swimming, which will put alot less stress on your Achillies. However, if your knees are prone to hurting, I would just say go to work on the swimming.

Hey thanks for your 2 cents. I own a pair of Dr shoels atm and they help but not as much as I would like. I am considering trying out some New Balance shoes though I keep hearing good things.

As for my knees they are fine, it's my heels. I took at advil last night and I probably should continue if it is inflammation. I'm 6'4" and 200 lbs, should I take 1 or 2 each time? the ads say 1 is often enough.

I did biking tonight for an hour instead of my 1 hour run, there still is discomfort but in no way as much as after a run.

Thanks again for your comment and I'm patiently waiting for my Doc appt to approach.

Hey, I'm doing a half marathon next sunday.. but I'm not now.. not with my heel ankle like this.

I'm 200 lbs but I'm 6'4" so I fill out fine, I'm mostly muscle and could probably bulk u more since i'm boney in places but i want to lose more BF% because running at 200 lbs gets painful past the 1 hour mark, which is why I only run an hour.

I have done 5km and 10km races too this year but I think my body is finally getting worn down.
