Hey /fit/,

So, I've had pretty bad insomnia my whole life. I count six hours of sleep as luxurious to the point of pampering, but as of late things have really taken a turn for the worse. I've just hit hour 48, and I have to be at work soon. Does anyone here have any advice/suggestions/cures for coping with insomnia or eliminating it altogether? In return and thanks, art.

If at all possible, I'd like to avoid those sleep pills. Addictive personalities run in my family, and I finally weaned myself off Nyquil...

If the usual cures don't work (bedtime routine, whitenoise generator, light snack, no light, regular schedule), you may want to try meditation. I have insomnia too, and I'm pretty sure it's because my head doesn't stop. If you can clear your head it makes sleeping a lot easier.

See a psychotherapist, there's probably some deep rooted emotional cause for this insomnia.

Do you get some exercise in your day?

A lot of people can't go to sleep because there isn't much physical activity in their day. They will be mentally exhausted but not physically. It's easy [for me] to go to sleep when I'm both mentally and physically exhausted, if it's only one of the two I stay awake uncomfortably.

Ironically, I'm about to go take a test with no sleep..
