True about the woman thing. Anyone who isn't literally doing it for health reasons (cholesterol, blood pressure, et cetera) are fooling only you or themselves if they aren't at least PARTLY for the chicks. People who are training heavily for sports come close to achieving a motivation other than chicks, but a great many of those people dislike the training itself, and only do it because it's a means to an end. Though that could be said for many motivations.
Anyways I did it for a chick in the beginning. Got my fat ass down from 225 down to 165 and I hover around the 175 range right now. I gradually stopped doing it for women (HA!) and like to think that I do it intrinsically based off of something even more vain, which is an American Psycho-esque need to look as good as possible. Also, rage; you'd be surprised at how good a healthy dose of raaaaaaaaage can motivate one to stay in shape.
