Skinny-fat guy here.

I started the 100pushups thing.

What happens if all I did were push-ups, would I look retarded?
>> Anonymous
your back and shoulders will lag behind your arms and chest. do some chinups or pullups as well.
>> Anonymous
yes

do SQUATZ instead

I did solely pushups and situps for like a year, and my lats grew just as much as my pecs.

>>402431
interesting, how far apart do you place your hands?

Op here.

Don't know what SQUATZ is, I'll try google.

Like one "hand-length" out from my shoulders if you get what I mean.

Did them real slow too. I think I had a pretty decent form. Chest always touched the ground.
Normally 10-12 reps, 3 sets, every 3-4 day.

I've started reading the intro - isn't the correct form knuckles to the ground, rather than palms flat? Prevents wrist strain and works muscles a different way, sumadat?
>> Anonymous
>>402523
The correct form is dependent on the type of push ups you do.
>> Anonymous
>>402523
not if you place your hands very far apart
>> Anonymous
I'm doing it too OP. Just finished Week 1 :)

You could do real exercises instead of doing shitty ass pushups

Been doing this for a while, I was quite weak at the start (could only just do 10 push up) and now I'm on week 5 and can do about 35 push ups. I was stuck on the beginning of week 5 for a LONG time (it's 30, 24, 22, 20, 30+ with 60 sec rests). I discovered the problem eventually. Whilst my triceps could handle the exercise, my biceps and other partially used muscles were still to weak. So I bought some weights and began doing various weightlifting exercises. It took about 2 weeks but eventually I managed to get past the day I was stuck on. I have now almost given up on the 100 push ups plan as it is a bit poorly designed. You WILL need to do other exercises as well. It did however introduce me to getting in the habit of exercising regularly and since then I have been doing a combination of various dumbell and body weight exercises and have discovered creating a proper exercise program is a MUCH better method (inb4 slowpoke), and saw results much faster.

tl;dr - You probably won't be able to complete it, unless you are doing other exercises as well to do the parts of your upper body that push ups won't exercise. I reccomend finding a good upper body fitness program instead and sticking to it.

IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANY ANY EXERCISE IN THE PAST YOU WILL FAIL.
>> Anonymous
Be sure to do different varieties of push-ups.

I started doing just push ups, I had no work-out plan.

It escalated from 20-girl push ups, to 4000 standard push-ups a night. Did them in sets of 90-100. Really don't know how the fuck I did it, but once I hit 4000, I realized I should get some weights lol.

My arms weren't big, but my chest got massive.

this guy is hilarious

skinny-fit guy here. I do pushups (anywhere from 30 -100 a night, depending on how I feel) I also do situps (at least 30) and I jog or bike 20 blocks a day (10 to get to work, 10 to get home) I have not gotten bigger or smaller. My muscle is firmer, and I feel awesome, have good upper body strength, but the muscles never got 'big' so, other than my abs getting tighter, no change in appearance from me.

wait what

Don't just do pushups.

Do a full bodyweight workout.

Exactly. This hundred push ups crap is just a way of avoiding that feeling of guilt by lack of exercise. If you don't want to go to a gym. Buy some dumbells, a pull up bar and bench and find a good work out plan on the internet that'll work. You don't need to find out the hard way like>>402579

ahahahaahaahahahaa.

when I found out about the program, I tried how many pushups I could do: 45. I decided it was acceptable and went on to my real concern: abs
>> Anonymous
If all you did were push-ups you'd definitely look retarded.

example:
"Why the fuck is that guy doing push-ups?"
"I don't know... we're at a funeral for god's sake."

As a former skinnyfat guy fucking just build bulky muscle, then do a lot of cardio and balance out. burpees are good too
