Yes this is the normal wAy of doing them, and almost everyone would refer to it as 'the correct way'. But ofc fast workouts are more effective at tone muscle, so it's entirely up to the person doing them. I used to to 60-80 extremely fast Push-ups, but it began to damage my elbows so i just went back do Fast up, Slow down.

I'm not sure that will work. Push ups are easy to do since you don't need equipment and can do it in a confined space.
