Gee, there sure is a lot of fat women here.

In any case, once I heard /fit/ was going to be a live board, I wanted to start a project. Basically, I'm going to take a picture of myself similar to the pic to the left each day, and make a fast moving .gif of me losing weight/gaining muscle tone/mass. Should be pretty interesting.

Also, I need a tan, give me some tips about picking a tanning place.

check the beds, make sure they are clean and dont stink.

Don't tan, you'll get skin cancer.

I recently acquired a gym membership (ymca lawl), starting today. I'm going to be running 1 hour a day (weekdays), then once I figure out a sound workout routine, be doing that for the second hour I intend to spend up there each day. This all started when I viewed a few ab-crunch routine videos online, I didn't know you only had to do it 8 minutes a day like that.

As for a diet, I've already cut out soda and caffeine (man what a month), I'm working on eating healthier foods (fruits and breakfast are my main problems) so it should be a rough way to go.

This is Day One.

Do you really need to tan? Unless there's something up with the lighting there, you look fine.

As for tanning, just don't overdo it. Don't buy lotion or any of that shit they offer you, you don't need it. 15-20 minutes, one day a week is fine, maybe just 10 minutes for your first day. Unless you're like going to cancun or something, there's no need to be brown.

Tanning makes your skin grow older faster, so make sure to use lots of sunscreen, and preferably some sort of moisturizer afterwards. Eating vitamin supplements would be a good idea as well.
Or just don't get a tan.
Either way, vitamins are essential.
Oh, and tuna and chicken are the best forms of meat, so try eating more of those instead of other sorts.
Wholegrain pasta, rice, peanut butter is also aight, it has proteins and fats that you need. Eggs are good as well.
Try to eat less sugar, and more slow carbon hydrates. (Wholegrain stuff)

The reason I want/need a tan is that my skin is scarred pretty badly, and forcing my skin to regrow is probably the quickest way to fix that. Tanning does that. I'm normally a few shades darker than the picture, 4chan did this to me.

forget tanning beds.
I caught a bad athletes foot there.
Unhygienic.
Second, your skin will indeed age faster.
Third, cancer.
It's better to enjoy natural sun, since the rays are less harmful than those of tanning beds.

Its full on winter here, so natural tanning is no good. Ohio for the loss.

Wait till it gets warmer. Then just do things like run with your shirt off, swim, do yardwork, etc.

You should end up with a fine tan after a few weeks of activity in the sun.

If you just want to enjoy sunrays, then try a small daylight lamp.
They are emitting light that is nearly equal in spectrum to the sun's rays.
Won't get a real tan, but it'll activate your skin.

Don't listen to the rest of the faggots here, sun exposure (hence tanning) is good for you in moderate amounts, ensures adequate vitamin D levels and has a lot of subtle mood-regulating effects as well. One thing you should really do is supplement with vitamin E, which will help a lot with soaking up the UV damage caused by the sun. Vitamin E comes naturally along with most natural sources of fat but people today with low-fat diets and overprocessed junk oils are usually deficient.

Moderate sun exposure is healthy.
Exposure to UV in a tanning parlor IS NOT.

Just a "day lamp"? I need something I can search for on google.

UV is UV, so tanning parlors are only dangerous in the easiness with which one might accidentally crisp themselves. But sun exposure also entails fun things like being outside, getting exercise, having friends, etc. so definitely still the better option here.

Holy crap I thought I was in bad shape, but seeing a guy whose gut sticks out so far certainly helps out my own self esteem issues.

you don't get vitamin D from the lights that are in tanning-beds

wrong.
There's UV-A and UV-B.
Tanning beds will give you extremely high doses of UV-B only, which is bad.
Natural sun is different.

haha, asshole.

Yeah, I didn't realize I was this out of shape until recently so... hopefully if my plans don't fall through I should look much better by summers end. I'll have Day 1 posted up tonight, already ran for the whole hour today (1:30 - 2:30).

Anyone experienced with animation making, if you want to help go ahead and mesh together my images with a 1 second delay, then a 5 second delay on the last image. If not, I'll get to it this weekend at some point.

You should try out the Ana diet, I've tried it with some really great results. Remember to drink plenty of ice water while you're on it, and to exercise at least a little bit morning, noon, and night to make sure your metabolism is active!

I work at ups as a sorter, which means I'm constantly lifting 40-70 pounds for up to 5 hours each day. I don't need another exercise.

You try to eat mostly ice chips, mints, as well as some celery at times with a little salt. You also try to drink as much water as possibly, never forgetting to bring a bit bottle of water with you!

Try doing some water sports. The beach, lake, pool. Use plenty of protection though. There is a difference between sun burns and tan. Besides, water sports will help you work out.

I was thinking about alternating between laps in the pool and the treadmill/bike but, again its winter right now so I can't do much about it.

Its not that big of deal. If tanning beds are really that bad then I'll just wait.

How cold is it exactly?
You know, when it's not snowing or raining, there's no excuse not to run/bike.
Just put on some layers of good active gear.

I'm going to a gym, weather is not an issue. I was referring to getting a natural tan at this time of year... unpossible.
