Alright this topic is something all you guys should be familiar with...MASTURBATION!!

Ive been working out for about 5 months and have gone from 150 to 175 pounds. However, I notice after some heavy lifting and running, I feel really horny and before going to bed just HAVE to jerk off or else ill keep tossing and turning and wont fall asleep. And sleep is important since your muscles heal during REM.

Now my question is, does jerking your toad lower your testosterone level. Or , inversely, will not jerking off INCREASE testosterone levels. Please elaborate using your infinite wisdom.

Well, here are some facts: testosterone is mainly produced by the Leydig cells in men's testicles. This cells are not associated with sperm production, which is the job of Sertolli's cells. Sertolli's cells do use a little bit of testosterone to produce sperm, yet it's not a significant amount, besides your pituitary gland is the one that controls how much it's produced given the needs. In other words, no, it doesn't affect your testosterone level.

But its strange, if I ever jerk off before a workout, I don't go at it that strong, like my drive to workout is gone...but I suppose its a psychological thing.

"The purpose of this study is to gain understanding of the relationship between ejaculation and serum testosterone level in men. The serum testosterone concentrations of 28 volunteers were investigated daily during abstinence periods after ejaculation for two phases. The authors found that the fluctuations of testosterone levels from the 2nd to 5th day of abstinence were minimal. On the 7th day of abstinence, however, a clear peak of serum testosterone appeared, reaching 145.7% of the baseline ( P < 0.01). No regular fluctuation was observed following continuous abstinence after the peak. Ejaculation is the precondition and beginning of the special periodic serum testosterone level variations, which would not occur without ejaculation. The results showed that ejaculation-caused variations were characterized by a peak on the 7th day of abstinence; and that the effective time of an ejaculation is 7 days minimum. These data are the first to document the phenomenon of the periodic change in serum testosterone level; the correlation between ejaculation and periodic change in the serum testosterone level, and the pattern and characteristics of the periodic change.

Neuroendocrine and cardiovascular response to sexual arousal and orgasm in men.
"In this study, ten healthy male volunteers were continuously monitored for their cardiovascular and neuroendocrine response to sexual arousal and orgasm. Blood was continuously drawn before, during and after masturbation-induced orgasm and analyzed for plasma concentrations of adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), prolactin, growth hormone (GH), beta-endorphin and testosterone. Orgasm induced transient increases in heart rate, blood pressure and noradrenaline plasma levels. Prolactin plasma levels increased during orgasm and remained elevated 30 min after orgasm.
In contrast, none of the other endocrine variables, including tesosterone, were significantly affected by sexual arousal and orgasm."

Tl;dr No it doesn't affect your testosterone levels. Basically The answer is no, because an orgasm followed by stopping, causes a tired sensation, and a desire for relazation and a recovery period!

You could find this perceived energy drop caused by endorphins from orgasm, to be demotivating to the workout.

The workout in fact causes increase in testosterone, although it depletes temporarily the energy level to enjoy it in sex.

It's best to keep the workout and sexual activity as separate items. They can become a conflict in interest to one another otherwise!

So the first study says that I should jerk off every 7 days and take advantage of the PEAK of testosterone on the 7th day of abstinence. While the 2nd study states that there is no effect.
