what is so bad about diet sodas dietary-wise? obviously their sugary counterparts are very bad but the nutri. info on the can doesnt look too bad. only 1% of daily sodium intake.

so why should i not drink a can or two a day of, lets say, diet Dr. Pepper?

well how is it bad for a diet? that was my question

Nothing wrong with it. People think aspartame causes cancer because they are superstitious illiterate mongoloids.

There has never been a study showing any ill effects and A LOT have been done. Drink up.

Yeah. In fact, soda itself isn't as evil as people make them out to be.

1 can of regular soda, but you can drink up to 3 cans of diet soda a day. In fact, I recommend it. Cheat days are meant for getting nutrients from "bad" foods, including soda. But go ahead and drink 3-4 cans of diet soda a day, and it will be alright.

Don't eat fries though. But soda, and other fast food, you can have 2 meals a day.

Also, exercise is overrated. /fit/fags are pretty insecure. Smoking ain't that bad either. Just remember, don't binge, as long as you don't drink more than 4 cans a day, it's cool.

Well I wouldn't go that far. 500kcal worth of refined sugar is NOT a great way to diet. If you aren't concerned about body composition or fat loss then you can get away with it. Otherwise it WILL cause problems.

But I agree in general about diet soda/beer being over rated. My favorite commercials are the ones that show miller light has THREE FUCKING GRAMS fewer carbs.

Seriously, if you drink enough that 12 calories per drink fucks up your diet you aren't obese you are an alcoholic.

The problem with diet sodas is that your body tries to digest them and gets no nutritional benefit, so you end up feeling hungrier and may eat more.

Yeah, people are too uptight about health.

So long as a guy doesn't drink more than a few liters of pop a day, doesn't eat too many donuts, doesn't smoke too many cigarettes, doesn't suck too much condomless AIDS-infected cock in order to pay for his heroin addiction, and maybe takes a flight of stairs every once and a while after eating a deep-fried twinkie, then...

Shit, man, he'll be fine. Chillax, you uptight bitches.

"Our study shows that APM is a multi-potential carcinogenic coumpound whose effects are evident at a daily dose of 20 mg/kg bw, much less than the current ADI for humans..."

Now I'm not one of those fanatics who says you shouldn't enjoy a diet coke every now and then, and I'm not saying this particular study is the end all be all on the subject, but the fact remains that what you stated is false.

For general health, yes, what you said is true. But for people who push themselves to the limit and aspire for athletic excellence like myself, what you're suggesting is unrealistic. Also,

>Cheat days are meant for getting nutrients from "bad" foods, including soda.

No. Cheat meals (or days if you go that far) are for purely psychological reasons. They have no direct fitness benefits; they keep you from going crazy and binging.

no u. I change my mind, I suggest 8 cans of diet soda a day. Come on now people. Also - smoking. Smoking increases your temporary memory and heightens your senses. It also relaxes you. Smoke four packs of these babies a day, son.

Also, didn't you know superstar John White ate two cheeseburgers a day while performing? Hell yes.

(I wouldn't, I'm suggesting the pro-soda people do, after all you're quite confident aren't you?)

The nutrition facts label does not tell the whole story. No candy bar or pop will tell you on it it contains the refined sugars associated with diabetes. It's required by law on all foods in U.S. except some tiny small exceptions. But you are *NOT* going to get an unbiased explanation on just the can.

What you will get is information, that can be verified externally.

I read the other day that they finally figured out why Diet Soda may not be so great for you.

It's incredibly sweet, aye?

sweet things are supposed to have sugar/calories. Your brain is used to this equation; Sweet = Calories + Sugar.

When you drink it, you're fooling your brain, and because you got no calories from the sugar you were supposed to drink, your brain tells your body to eat more to get more calories. So, essentially, drinking diet soda makes you eat more, essentially making up for the regular soda you would've been drinking.

They tested it on rats or some shit. I don't have citation atm, but, look it up!!!

you know, if aspartame or sucralose actually tasted good or even just anywhere in the fucking ball park of the taste of sugar, i'd agree that a diet soda isnt that bad. but GODDAMN they taste like shit, why does anyone drink them?

You know, metallic cadmium has no calories, fats, or cholesterol. I may as well chow down on it, must be healthy, right?

Yes! I agree. I wish I had that study citation too.

well, all food (macronutrients) contain calories. it's a plausible for discussion. only water doesn't, it's special. and minerals and vitamins and spices, they should be set aside aside also. there's hardly any mass to them.

Nutritional information is one thing, but the ingredients list is another.

Look at the crap they put in there.
