Does /fit/ know of a good beginner workout to do using a heavy bag?

If you are working on your technique pick a few techniques and drill them for rounds. If you are working on your conditioning go all-out for rounds, or try Bas Rutten's MMA tapes, it has Boxing and Thai Boxing routines in there.

I like picking a single technique, and doing HIIT style intervals on them. Like, pick the straight punch, and left and right it as fast as you can for 20 seconds. Then take a 10 seconds break, then repeat the process as many times as you can stand.

pick either one strike or a combination. do it 10 times with as little pause as possible in between. do the other side next, or switch from left to right stance and repeat.

then another strike/combo.

I don't really have a technique to work on yet. I'm more looking at it as an alternative cardio workout since I can't run as much as I'd like due to my knees.

take the bag off the stand, hold it in front of you, and SQUAT it
