I suffer from severe back pain, upper and lower (mostly lower). What are good exercises to improve my back muscles, which I'm presuming will result in less pain?

the gym's also really out of my way, and i'd be much more inclined to do the exercises if i could do them in my room

the best shit for a bad lower back is to be on your hands and knees and then lift one of legs up (bottom of foot facing the ceiling) and try to hold it then switch.

seriously, go see a doctor. your back is NOT something you want to screw up, you might have bigger problems than just a lack of muscle.
