Hey, /fit/ I need some input.
I can max on bench at 230, but I rep (4 sets of 10) with 165.
is this normal?
or should I be pushing to rep more?
I feel like I could.

Didn't mean to come off as a prick/troll.

I did that the beginning of my sophomore year, I played football. If you don't play sports then that's very good.

Ahh.
Well, no, I haven't played football since my sophomore year but I never lifted for that, I was pretty out of shape.
I wrestle occasionally and I did a short-ish year of MMA but that's more or less it.

Depends on your body weight and height, not age.

I was doing a max of 225 at 5'7" 135 lbs before I tore a tendon in my wrist. Which was above average for my size. Havent lifted in months so i dont know now. still need surgery.

But, it would be "meh" for someone 180-200 lbs.

ahh ok.
yeah, im 188.5.
so are you saying I should be doing more or is it just enough?

It's an appropriate weight for your size. Depending on how long you've been lifting for.

If you want to be increasing STRENGTH do NOT do 10 reps. To increase STRENGTH you should be aiming for 2-5 reps with the weight, 2-4 sets. Make sure that you INCREASE weight at least every other session in the gym. If you plateau, do other exercises that will work your chest as well as triceps. Also, do NOT focus on only your chest, but make sure you are keeping the rest of your body strong if you want to be getting the maximum out of each lift.

HOWEVER, if you lift simply to look good or to tone or whatever shit, then please continue to lift as you will.

Lifting for 5 years and weighing in at approximately 190 lbs should put your bench at around 285-305.

Start doing lower reps if you want strength gain. Higher weights too of course.

Your diet may be problematic also. I am always a giant vagina when it comes to stuffing myself. I eat like a pussy. Never enough. I have no problem running till i puke or lifting until i scream in pain, but when my stomach feels full I RAGE EAND FUCKING HATE EATING MORE.
