What gym does /fit/ recommend? My campus gym is full of fucksticks and I don't have a lot of free time so I'm considering buying a membership to a gym. What gyms have you had good experiences at and which ones should I disregard because they suck cocks?

pic related, its a nice looking gym I found on google.

I don't care about the cardio machines but lately my gym is crammed with cardio fags mostly there to burn off the crap they been eating during winter.

All i care about is a free weight room with enough room for doing lifts, range of dumbbells, squat rack, incline/decline benchpress.

Go to the YMCA.

I'm not kidding. The facilities are great, and the staff know when to STFU and let you lift.

Why don't you just go and check out the gyms in your area I'm sure you can get a tour of the place, and maybe a free workout if you express interest in joining, and then you can see for yourself what kind of people frequent the place, and what they have.

Just don't let them talk you into signing up before you've checked out all the competition.

Also, check to see if your town has a community center with a gym. Membership is usually dirt cheap, and the only people that tend to go there are overweight housewives and old people.

If you do this then don't give them your real phone number.

I personally go to a Gold's Gym, but any good gym will work.

Couple things to look for is does it look like a meat market, do the weights and machines look in good shape, and does the staff actually have a clue?

I just started going to Anytime Fitness, I like it quite a bit. It's open 24/7 so you can go whenever you want, and they have TV's on the bikes / eliptical machines / treadmills.

Snap Fitness seems to have really good prices. I think I'm going to go there over the summer - right now I"m perfectly happy with the campus gym.

OP, see if you're gym has a gym for it's athletes, usually not too many people know about it. They don't like regular students working out there, but I sweet-talked my way into getting in by accusing the coaches of racism. So, find some leverage to use on them so you can do some serious squatz.

Fine if you have no other alternatives, but not really oriented toward serious training.

I'm currently rather fond of an Anytime Fitness I have in my part of the town.

I have a key for entry, and it's open 24/7/365. I like to go late at night when no one's around.

There's a couple tanning beds too.

Fuck yes. I have one about 1.25 miles away from my house so for cardio I just run there and then I proceed to work out. There's hardly ever anyone there so sometimes I have the weight room all to myself.
