Alright /fit/,

This isn't physical health related. Well, my physical health has an impact, but my question itself is about something else.

Do any of you know anything about Psychiatric Centers? What kind of places are there exactly? Not necessarily mental institutions, but a home to stay at for a while in to recover from a mentally strenuous ordeal. An escape, so to speak.

I've been thinking about Catcher in the Rye. I know it was in the 50's and all, but is it possible to just drop everything in life, even highschool, and go recuperate somewhere? Given the right amount of money or insurance I guess.

You could do what I did... drop a bunch of acid and escape into the woods for a day or two, naked, with a backpack full of granola bars, dried fruit, water, etc. Making your own shelter and screaming out to nature at night, planning on stalking and killing and preparing your next meal, etc. It's liberating.

Then I got in a kayak, hopped into the Mississippi, and paddled/relaxed for what seemed like forever, found a boat landing, and called someone to pick me up. I ended up going nearly 50 miles downriver.

Cheaper than a psych center. Probably more fun, too.

I could do that this summer, but I don't know if I'll make it that long.

How old were you?

18.

That seriously happened. I smeared myself in mud, made a spear... shit was intense.

Damn, thanks. I'm 17. Still don't know exactly what my options are. I guess this isn't the place to ask.

you've already got the right idea - all you need is a change of environment. Ask to hang out with your grandparents for a week.

It worked for me, I really didn't want to go, but parents made me. I thank them for that.
