Also: Play fast paced fun music that is building you up while working out/jogging. For example Bad Reputation by Reverend Horton Heat. Also you might want to listen to something to fantasize that you're badass... like Damn It Feels Good to be a Gangster.

to reiterate what a few others here said, I would recommend lifting first.

It seems counterintuitive, but the advice is sound. here's how it all works:
muscle burns calories at rest, more muscle burns more cals.
having more muscle burns more calories when active.
lifting weights increases HGH (human growth hormone) and testosterone, both of these work towards toning the body (reducing fat) and burning calories. (also increased sex drive and more confidence, if you need those)

for someone with your build, which has very little muscle, the smartest thing to do then, is to gain as much muscle as possible as fast as possible. I would recommend visitting t-nation.com and checking out "tips for newbies II" in the "beginners" forum. As for programs, stronglifts.com is a good one if you don't like the ones mentioned in the t-nation thread above.

Once you've bulked up some, cutting becomes appropriate.

All that being said, this is a long-term change, a lifestyle change. Expect to fail sometimes, don't beat yourself up over it, but don't quit. For you, I'd say you'll notice muscle gains within a month, depending on your genetics maybe even serious gains in 3-4, and serious fat loss from 4-6 months onward. Therefore, plan for "looking your best" in a year or so. good luck.

also, jogging now won't really hurt, it just won't do as much good as lifting.

Why? My girlfriend gives me no fucking help. She had a chubby father, so she likes playing with my gut. Sometimes she notices it's getting bigger, but she doesn't really say anything, 'cause she's slowing getting bigger too.

I'm going to ride my bicycle, then start push-ups/crunches routine while I get one of my friends to hook me up with a gym discount.

Hell yes, son. Try "Start as You Mean to Go On" by Aphex Twin. I've tried Kavinsky's "Testarossa Autodrive," but it just makes me want to drive really fast. Also, try "Phantom" parts 1 and 2, by Justice.

Listen to music and don't worry about the people who say "weights". It's easier to run if you are not thinking "oh fuck my legs my legs my legs" There are lots of bodyweight exercises that'll get you that ROCK HARD CHISELED look - but good for you that you're getting fit. Jogging is great, fuck the rest of them and just concentrate on getting yourself to the point where you can cover 5-6km in a half hour.
