Working men? Liam
Hey,

I'm curious, honestly, as to how many of you /fit/ guys have jobs that involve physical labor?

I'm a construction worker, and often feel too tired to work out afterwards, anyone else have this problem?

Like, seriously, sometimes, I'm on a roof or doing concrete work and end up working 8-9 hours, and basically - I'm fucking dead.

I currently weigh 200 pounds at 6'3, haven't had a BMI test or anything in a while but I wear a size 36 pant and large shirt, I bench 150 and do around 700 on the leg press, run a mile in 6-7 minutes, etc.

Now, the thing is - sometimes I end up eating fast food or something because lets face it - Theres nothing else I can do to get food, I try to go for the salads or something but I know its still bad. Do I run risk of getting fat again if I don't somehow figure out a way to get more exercise in?

I can't be the only person with this issue.

You weigh 200lbs but only bench 150?

First off your bench is pathetic. But then again its average for people who don't goto the gym. But your pant size is average, and your mile is average as well. Of course by average I mean, a non overweight person. So you're fine. Just fix your diet. Working 8 hours a day on a roof, you burn tons of calories and sweat alot. Drink lots of water and try to make sandwiches to bring to work, boil some eggs too. On days you don't work run like 3-5 miles, do some pushups.

I know exactly how I who feel. I work as a house mover the days im not at school. After you move furniture around for 12 hours, up and down stairs I do not want to go to the gym. The thing you have to remember is diet. That is what is really hard for me, I end up eating a hamburger most of the time. It sucks.

Im a stocker at Costco and I work from 2amto 10am. You`d think taht it would be easy if you compare it to Krogers but...have you ever been inside fo theose palces? Its a fuckign Warehouse. I have to move Pallets and stock things in a fast pace. Im so tired that I usually sleep for one or 2 hours during the day, wake up and make fodo to eat, kill time, and then I go work out at night. Thank God im changing my schedule soon and im going to be working in the front from 2pm till 8.

I'm the office bitch. I'm basically always on my feet transporting paper and files, and sometimes I wonder how much it adds into my daily caloric expenditure given it's being up and walking for 8 hours for the most part. But then I go home, run, and lift too. Figuring out how much I need to eat to safely lose fat is a pain.

You're getting plenty of exercise at your job. Your only problem seems to be what you eat. There is no excuse for "fast food... blah blah blah." Tuna packets, carrot sticks, and other things won't go bad sitting in lunch box in your truck. DO IT.

Well I work as a framer on the construction site, so my days are usually long, 8-10 hours average.

Try to drink as much water as you can to keep your fluid intake up, water lubricates your joints which can prevent injuries during exercise.

Second thing is to pre-pack your meals the night before. Lots of Protein, quality carbs, and fruit/veggies.

The other thing you can do too, is when you get home after work, eat, and go take a cold shower, not a hot one, cold. It will literally rejuvenate your body. Trust me, the human body has a ton of energy left over even after a hard day of work.

I work as a mechanic at a fair ground. It's alot of walking/running (alot of ground to cover between rides), climbing, crawling, pulling myself up and lifting cool heavy equipment.

So yeah, sort of.

Oh yeah, it also starts at 6am, ends about 12 (when it opens). I'm too unorganized to pack food so I usually bring a fruit, and then buy a sandwich.
When I get home I usually sleep straight away, then when I wake up I go work out or run.

I work as a baggage handler and do 2 or 3 13 hour shifts a week, this fucking destroys me (lifting 100's of 30KG bags all day).

Don't eat like a pig and you'll maintain a steady weight if you work hard. Excercise when you can. That is all.
