Physical heart problems normally do not develop until later in life, UNLESS YOU HAVE A HEART CONDITION. I don't know the nature of the hole in your heart, or how that resolved itself, but personally if I were in your shoes I'd get a checkup.
Your body needs a balance of Calicum, sodium, water, potassium, and magnesium to regulate heart beat (electrical function).
It doesn't take much to meet the minimum requirements for those, but if you have a severe deficiency for a prolonged period of time it can kill you. Don't go overboard with supplements, if you get too much of some of those (potassium for example), it could kill you as well.
When the body doesn't have enough of something it tends to eat what it has stored away, thus people can starve for a while and not die, but if you haven't been eating properly your storage could be low to begin with.
