Ok, /fit/.

I've always had a problem with endurance. I can sprint really well, but sustaining a run, or even a jog, has always been difficult. I can run half a mile in 3:30, but continuing beyond that is really difficult.

I don't have the time or dedication to invest large blocks of time, so I understand that it's a bit difficult to answer me when I ask:

What are some simple ways to increase my endurance that don't take to much discipline or time [per workout/rep]?

Actually, I'm not a troll, I just want to be as efficient and quick as possible in this endeavor.
I figured I'd come to you learned lot to ask assistance.

And I've been getting a few good tips.

well OP

ask yourself the question, WHY get better doing distance? for work (military)? for fitness?

fitness =/= long distance

also how do you measure 'endurance' as a means of fitness?

in the lab, they'd use VO2 MAX tests as indicators of cardiovascular/aerobic fitness.

and you know what? work done by Trembley and Tabata have shown that HIIT and anaerobic interval training will lead to better aerobic scores on the VO2 Max than people who spend 10x more time actually DOING aerobic distance running

think about it

Each one of these will be less than 30 minutes.

2 interval workouts per week, diversify them. Tabata's, hills, etc just look some up.
1 sprint workout per week. 10x200m, 4x400m, etc look some up
1 20-30 minute tempo run or time trial per week. tempo runs are at about 80% effort, time trials are at 100% effort, cover as much ground as possible.

This will dramatically increase your VO2 max and endurance. Work hard and you'll notice the difference relatively quickly. Now fuck off.

Thank you.

Why: I do parkour and would like to be able to keep up with other people at jams. I wind up loosing my breath, then loosing the pack.
