/fit/

since going on a diet the only things I drink are water milk and protein shakes. Should I invest in green teas as well.

Yes. Green tea boosts your metabolism and tastes a hell of a lot better than black tea unsweetened.

I usually have a cup with breakfast and a cup when I get home from work.

Yes go get Starbucks, it will help you immensely...

the pure teas are good, but you can find it cheaper in some chinese market. Also, dont buy bagged, brew your own, preferably in a french press.
the fraps? expect 300 calories for a tall, close to 600 for a venti

-skim milk with cream powder (with twenty-letter ingredients, truly scary shit)
-matcha powder (powdered green tea)

-measured scoop of ice
-thirty four(?) percent whipped cream

a french press is a teapot with a hand-operated piston fitted with a steel mesh filter
it makes FUCKING GOOD fresh coarse-ground coffee, can be used to make really good tea as well

How to use it? you need to work out the concentration yourself, its all trial and error. This is the one we use at starbucks (or at least the one i work at), and it takes half a cup of ground coffee, with hot water filled to the top line.

Brewing time is about 5 min.

on the note of the Starbucks frap, is it bad form for me to drink milk tea (3:1 black tea to filled evap skim milk plus 1.5 tbsp of sugar per 4/3 cup serving)?

and are powdered vitamin-enriched drinks (sweetened diet grape drank, etc) and fruit juices bad form?

if its 3/4 tea 1/4 milk seems perfectly reasonable.
the vitamin enriched, i dont know
as for juices, i personally break them half with water, so you get only about 100 calories per glass

i mean its to refresh, not fill you, right? works really well with apple and oj

lol, took me a few seconds to get what you were trying to say, I thought you meant to say 'it's tea from my girlfriend'

I drink something like 4 cups of apple juice a day, sometimes orange juice, or sometimes 2-3 cups/no juice at all and the rest just drink mix. I think I drink close to 6-7 cups of liquid a day, including water during class time and one cup of milk after every workout.

Is there any scientific evidence that tea raises metabolism, or is it just on the internet so it must be true?

"Green tea appears to boost metabolism slightly, but nobody has documented that drinking it helps people lose weight," says Adriane Fugh-Berman, M.D., an associate professor of physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Only one published study, a Swiss trial conducted on 10 men, has tested the effect of green tea on metabolism. Extrapolating the results of this research, Fugh-Berman says that if you drink four or five cups of green tea a day, "you might burn an extra 60 calories--but that's not a lot." It's about the same number of calories you'd burn in six minutes of jogging.

Part of the metabolism boost can be attributed to the caffeine in green tea, but results from the Swiss study suggest that some other substance is also at work, since green tea seems to increase metabolism slightly more than the equivalent amount of caffeine.

I'm one of those water, milk, natural juice only drinkers. Green tea is my favorite tea and I love drinking it, but I don't always drink it. Maybe twice or three times a week.

Supposedly if you drink 5 cups a day, you'll live 10 years longer, but this is according to Asian ideology, so don't count on me providing actual scientific results.

The reason I don't drink it as much as I want to or can is because it makes me have to go urinate every 10 minutes. Also, drinking it with dinner, makes my kidneys hurt like a bitch the next morning because I never get up to go piss during the middle of the night.
