god dammit /fit/, why am I so fat?
I eat 1500~ calories a day. Sometimes it's 1600. I work out (HIIT, walking up incline, as many body weight exercises I can do) at least 4-5x a week. Yet I'm still 136~ lbs ish. It's actually creepin up to 138.
Kill me if I'm ever 150 again.

pic related, my headless body.

Did you just use HIIT and walking in the same sentence?

Doing an interval training program on a treadmill isn't the same as HIIT.

Do you record changes in body fat? If you're building muscle as well, you might be losing fat and adding muscle at a similar rate, hence your steady weight (this is a good thing though, 1lb of muscle is smaller than 1lb of fat, and much more attractive).

you're not fat. you may not be gaunt/anorexic, but you're not obese.

exercise is causing your muscles to grow. muscle is eight times heavier than fat. so you may be losing fat, but the muscle mass you're putting on adds pounds to the scale.

don't use the scale to judge how you're doing. people do that because it's easy, but the number of pounds can be deceptive. if you're exercising right, your weight should go _up_ as your muscles undergo hypertrophy.

your body shape is determined by genetics. you can't change it with diet and exercise:
http://epigee.org/fitness/body_shape.html

you look like an endomorph to me. don't freak out about what you can't change. exercise _will_ make you look more trim, sculpted in the mirror. just ignore the scale.

meh i'd hit it, i like some meat on the bones :)

i think you look pretty good. maybe a little thick in the middle, but if your face is good it'd make up for it

eat more calories. seriously. if you're not getting enough calories you're metabolism slows down drastically to preserve fat. so keep up whatever exercise you're doing - namely the HIIT - and get some more calories in there. make sure you're not just eating shit, too, and you should see some progress

Sounds like the exercises you are doing are not the best for fat loss. How much sustained cardio do you do per week?
>> Anonymous
You could try that zig-zag diet thing that is talked about in Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. He says it is a good way to get past plateaus in weight loss.

I wouldn't know, myself. I'm a scrawnyfag trying to gain weight :/

Good luck though.

PS I'd fuck you.

Hey everyone:

The reason this girl is confused is that she consistently gets bad advice on this board.

Overweight unathletic girl? Do HIIT and 5X5!!!

lolwat She doesn't have the knowledge or the ability to undertake that.

Correct answer is: Spin class, swimming, walk or ride bike instead of drive, and eat right.

Once she does that well and consistently, she can graduate to HIIT and weight room.

Fitness advice for overweight girls (very slightly in this case) is different than athletic guys.

Go figure.

I am now saving this and will be copypastaing it when needed.

>>385908
wait, unfit guys have the knowledge and ability to exercise, but unfit girls don't?

>athletic guys

telling fat guys HIIT is just as dumb. Depending on weight they should start with walking then elliptical, then joggiing/swimming, then graduate to running and HIIT.

Inb4 HIIT isn't just done with running. I know.

How much cardio do you do?
>> Anonymous
it is quite simple, cut your calories and keep your regular routine, and you will have results until your body gets use to that, in which you will have to change things up again
>> Anonymous
OP here. I went out earlier.
>>385617
I'm not recording body fat, because I don't have a skin fold caliper.
>>385894
I've read that book before and I keep wanting to try it, but it says eat at maintenance. And my maintenance is 2000 something. I'm afraid that number wrong and that I'll gain from it. So I shy away.
>> Anonymous
I'm going to avoid giving you any real help, basically because everytime I've spent time trying to help fatties, the just ignore it: "But I LIKE my carbs! *Waaaaaaaaaah*"

So STFW:
John Berardi - General fat-loss and very respected dude
Tom Venuto - General fat-loss and very respected dude
Lyle McDonald - the ultimate dude for 10% -> 2% body fat

Like I said: STFW, learn on your own, and don't whine.
>> Anonymous
>>386173

God. You are acting moronic.

First: exact measurements of caloric intake. Get a fricking food scale, and measuring cups. Eat to your current maintenance, and record. record record record. Then you have data. Even if you don't use it, record it.

Increase calories, and increase activity... it works, god knows that I know that.

As a whitey, you should be avoiding carbs. Unless you have the genes of some lucky SOB, then you can eat carbs.

Here, make it easy for you: look at the Velocity Diet.
>> Anonymous
>>386223
yes I know. But I'm terrified of gaining what I lost, back.
+ you're saying record. Record what, exactly? Calorie data?
>> Anonymous
>>386281

Record what you eat, and the times; if you can, record calories, fat, carbs, fiber, and protein.

Example: http://johnstonefitness.com/menus/may_2008.html

That will give you an exact idea of what you are *actually* eating, and you won be able to lie to yourself: "ah-well, that chocolate bar doesn't count if I do cardio right after."

If you're serious, then the log is worth doing, and if you're *actually* serious about this for long-term , then some ups and downs wont fuck with you.

"This is a learning process, and I leant that doesn't work..."

I've actually been tracking everything everyday since April 28th. |: That's how I'm able to say I eat around -whatever- calories.
In fact my net calories (how many I have left as what was burned during exercise) are
1583-1371-1393-1316-1501-1463
and today so far I've eaten 1239. (It's 5:30 PM here.)
The 1300's days are from when I was feeling really fat and wanted a few lower calorie days in there. |:

we only want to know how many I have left as what was burned during exercise

what you're eating

it's physically impossible to eat 1500 pre-workout calories, and be that heavy still

or maybe you have no fucking muscle on your entire body

i suggest SQUATZ
>> Anonymous
>>386565
I will count every entire thing I eat today and share what it adds up to be.
And the muscle thing isn't a bad idea; I need to start doing that stuff.
>> Anonymous
>>386606
"every entire"? Naw. Did you know that a dressing can easily have more calories than the salad you put it on? Or cream in your coffee more than the coffee? Have you factored in the butter on your bread? Seriously it's this kind of stuff that makes the difference.
>> Anonymous
>>386611
yes.
This afternoon I had a tbsp of peanut butter and a half an english muffin. I scooped the peanut butter out with a tablespoon measuring thing (the thing you use if you measure vanilla extract, etc.) and the dug it back out with a knife.
