I think I'm doin it wrong /fit/

Side crunches.. I've watched videos, looked at basic guides, but I can't get them right.

Do you lay all the way on your side and crunch your torso upwards, or do like this guy and turn your head and torso face-up and then crunch with your legs on the side?

Or are there other exercises to work the obliques?

You can either lie on your side and crush upwards, or lie on your back and crunch up, reaching for your opposite knees with each elbow, either alternating or doing a double-twist before going back down.
