Hey /fit/ if one takes protien shakes, while trying to lose weight will it negativly impact weight loss?
I do 30 min running at 10km/h per day.

tl;dr are whey supliments counterproductive to my weight loss?

As long as you count your calories protein shakes are just another source of protein. No it won't hinder weightloss as long as you ensure you are burning what you eat. Protein is important while losing weight to ensure you aren't losing muscle mass.

not 100% true, whey protein Isolate differs from whey protein concentrate. Both forms act differently when being digested, but both act to prevent catabolization (breaking themselves down for nutrients) of muscle tissue.

Sure, the protein is filling and sometimes even tasty depending on what brand/flavor you choose, but make sure these shakes aren't used as meal replacements because you will DEFINITELY become malnourished.


Pic related, I enjoy 3 servings a day of those, one with every other meal (6 meals a day). It's Isolated.
