Does anyone here jump rope?
I want to know how good it is for you and which muscles it affects.

calfs. not much though, it's basically only cardio

Actually, it works out most of the body as well as good cardio.
Supposedly, 10 min of jump rope = 30 min of running.
I know that after jumping for a while I really feel a burn in my abs.

do you have anymore in-depth info on that?
like maybe a link to an article or something

Bruce lee said it once, but i doubt it's validity.

I think it would be more jogging than actual running

I can't imagine how it would work the abs unless you're using a too-small rope and you're bending over a lot.

Legs and forearm.

Because you're using your abs to stabilize your body as you're jumping, it does work it out.

Hmm. I'll have to do HIIT jump rope then, usually I just notice the burn in the calves.

Not op, but how would one go about choosing a rope?

Is it the old elementary rule of " If you stand in the middle, and it reaches your armpits" ?

Jumping rope is one of the best things you can do. Improved cardiovascular, improved coordination, and some of the highest calorie burn per minute you could imagine.

From the first result for "choosing a jumprope" on google:
"Be sure your rope is the right length. When you step in the center, the handles should just reach your armpits."
