pullups Anonymous
hey /fit/

I can only do one overhand pullup, maybe two at times but i'm not sure my form on the second one is acceptable.

I'm not fat, only weak. I really want to improve my number of pullups and i cannot afford equipment or a gym membership.

Could doing one pullup several times a day really help me improve? I doubt it.

Should I do underhand pullups, of which I can do more?

Also, I am trying to increase the number of pushups I do. I can do only 40. Would practicing pushups for a month before trying pullups prepare me well for doing pullups?

Do as many as you can in 3 sets, twice a day.
Enjoy your new "Whoa wtf now I have shoulders, forearms and back".

Do negatives.

Pull yourself up, then spend like 10 whole seconds lowering yourself.

Repeat until multiple pull-ups are doable.

Pullups fucking rule. Just do as many as you can for 3 sets. Do that twice a day. Invest like 25 bucks in one of those doorway bars.

I read on Men'sHealth I think that you should do as many as you can with good form and rest a minute between each set. Then reduce the amount of time you rest so it gets to the point where you can continuously do 10 at a time. Once you can do ten, use a weight belt and add some weight.

Men's health is bs. Just pump as many as you can even if your form is shit. you'll get stronger.

im in same boat as you op, i do sets of 2 on the doorframe at work and on my pullup bar at home. at first I could only do one good form but now I can do two. Its slow but it works. When I could only do one at a time I would just grab my pullup bar everytime I walked past it and do one. Just do a whole lot throughout the day/

Start from just hanging on the pullup bar.
Then work your way up. Push off from the ground to make it easier if you can't do one. This helps, plus the negative parts helps too (slowly go back down once you are up).

If you have a gym membership I think I've seen people using an assisted pullup/chinup machine. You can try that if you want and work your way to doing it with the machine.
