I decided starting on the treadmill is probably the fastest or almost the fastest way to lose the excess weight I have (I'm about 25 pounds overwieght) so I'm almost running 1:30 of that time away, and I have no idea what to do with that extra 30 minutes. By the time I'm done running/walking, I'd rather dedicate that extra 30 towards something other than my legs, but if doing something that would help me achieve that 1:30 without as much trouble, then I'll do it.
