So I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror, and instead of looking puffy and marshmallowey like I usually do in the mornings, I noticed that I looked a lot thinner than I did last night. I poked around, and I noticed that I seemed to have less fat... I could feel firm muscle around my body without having to flex.

That got me wondering, how long does this fitness shit take? I know, 1-2lbs a week, 1-1.5% body fat a week, but I'm wondering: if I were to eat a piece of cake, how long would it take for that piece of cake to turn into adipose fat? If I go running for an hour, does the fat burned come off immediately or what?

I understand the basics behind BMR, EPOC, metabolism, catabolism, and anabolism, but I guess I'd like to know how long the raw processes of metabolism take to work.

You had less water in your body. Depending on what you did on the day before, how much you drank and the mood of your body, you have days when your tissue is drier. Bodybuilders aim for this on competition day, because you look more cut. It's of course not exactly healthy.

Your question is too tough for /fit/. You'll have better luck somewhere more knowledgeable.

i believe it take about 25 minutes for cake to enter the bloodstream, not quite sure but it doesn't take more than 30 minutes

Well that was from all the Red Bull you drank the previous day.

Raw processes of metabolism to work? Do you have any ideal of the 10s of thousands of chemical reactions going on every second and you want one of us to explain to you how long they all take to work and what they do?

You need to know all this so you can figure out why you're fat?

Yeah, and next time it rains we'll tell you all about how and where the weather system accumulated all the water and stuff so you can figure out how not to get wet.

Dumb ass, get off your fat ass and move.
