Constipated? So was I! sage
There are usually an awful lot of "Halp, I'm constipaated" threads flying about the board that don't accomplish much outside of telling the OP that they're doomed to die of ass burst and should see a doctor.

Well, I was OP of one of those threads earlier this month. I had been constipated for over a week and had been suffering super hard stools for months and moths, bleeding from the ass upon passing them and going an average 5-10 between evacuating.

Easter Day of this year, I hit the 14th day of constipation. I had never been constipated for that long before, and I was truly scared for my health. I took advice from this board and tried a self administered, over the counter enema for the very first time and -- it worked wonders! I shit and shit and shit, and it was euphoric.

I decided to see my doctor the next day. I expected the worst; exploratory surgery or at the very least a colonoscopy.

Rather than jump right into that, she recomend I consume at least 60 oz of water a day, and start drinking "Miralax", a powdered laxative I had never heard of. It's tasteless and can be mixed with anything, and unlike laxatives like Exlax and Ducolax, it doesn't run the risk of becoming dependent on it. It's safe enough for babies and it doesn't cause cramps. Just a cap full into a glass of water a day, and I was regular again. The stuff softens the stools and promotes shitting, and indeed it does its job.

After drinking a portion a day for 7 days straight, I got diarrhea, though, so lay off once it starts taking effect. I drink a couple doses a week, and it lets me shit as often as I want to. If I haven't had a movement in three days, I'll consume some for a couple days, and have a great shit soon after.

Pretty much, if you're constipated, drink LOTS of water every day and give Miralax a try. It's over the counter and safe and it could just be what you need.

After a 14 day stint, I seriously thought I was going to die (and so did Anonymous), but I seem to be back on track.

God speed, Anon. And good luck.

Hmmm, it seems from your story you start to become constipated again after not taking your drank.

Maybe you should continue to drink lots of water?

Yes, more water. It's easy to forget, but just drink, drink, drink. It's worth it.

Thank you Anon.

I've been self-medicating with Ex-Lax for the past month, ever since the frequency of my bowel movements went from once a day to once a week.

I'll probably have to visit a doctor about dependency anyway D:
