Hey /fit/, what's the cheapest home set up I need for a mostly inclusive upper and lower body workout? During Spring-Fall I can do laps in my pool but during the winter it is just way too damn cold.

Pic related, it's nothing like my pool.

Also I could probably do well with body weight exercises, since I'm fairly large overall and overweight. Plus I don't intend to cut, and instead just bulk.

If you want the bare essentials for proper weight training then you would want a bench (that can also incline as well as flat), a squat rack, and an olympic barbell and weights. This is the basics and will do fine for ages. The barbell needs to be a sturdy one, because it needs to be able to take the heavy weights for deadlifts, squats etc, while smaller barbells will get fucked up from too much weight. You will probably also want some form of padding for the floor underneath the weights for deadlifts. Look around for second hand deals, there will be loads of benches gong cheap, but you will probably have to fork out a fair amount for the proper weights as most people who realise they need the olympic weights don't stop using them, whereas douches who get a 40kg barbell set will give up and want to sell it on.

If you want to go dirt cheap then look into sandbag training. Buy a few sacks of sand, a cheap heavy duty (i suggest military surplus) bag, and a load of thick plastic baggies. put a set weight of sand in a baggy (e.g. 1kg) and tape it up with heavy duty masking tape. Then put the baggies into the big bag and lift that. You'll probably need to do weighted pushups rather than trying to set up a bench, but that is fine.

Suck it up, fag. I've swum in the snow at a meet and I was fine. "Way too cold" when it comes to swimming DOESN'T EXIST.

Get in that water.

I hate swimming. I loved it as a kid and as a result I have broader shoulders than most guys I know.
