I play field hockey. We have our grand final on Saturday (Ausfag, so 72hrs away from this post). I’m wondering what sorts of things I can eat over the next few days to ensure that I’ll be performing at my best.

I’d say that the style of endurance and physical exertion required of hockey is similar to perhaps soccer if that helps.

It’s also going to be particularly hot for this time of year (31c, 88f) so the heat will likely be an additional issue to overcome.

Any nutritional advice would be greatly appreciated as would any general preparation recommendations.

also relevent to my interests.

What sort of exercising should one be doing in the days leading up to a big game (of any sort)?
>> Anonymous
oats for breakfast
potatoes for lunch
pasta for dinner

For 1-2 weeks before the game - but I see you fucked that bit up already.

Don't 'carboload' the night before with a huge plate of pasta, it will strain your GI tract too much.

Don't eat a whole meal within 3 hours before a game, you'll want it to have emptied out of your stomach before then.

Get some powerade before and during the game. Not the whole fucking bottle because that will also strain your GI tract, unless you're used to it.

As for the exercising part before the game, you should 'taper' the training 1-2 weeks before the big game. Like, do half your usual training. You need to stock up on glycogen within your muscles and liver, not use them all up by overtraining.

dear god, i fucking hate people like you. honestly, why do you think this is a good idea? you are a fucking retard?

HAY GUYZ, EATING HARD TO DIGEST CARBOHYDRATES WITH HUGE INSULIN INDEXES IS A REALLY GOOD FUCKING IDEA, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO BE LETHARGIC AND FUCKING FAT. NUTRITIONAL SCIENCE FROM 1981 IS THE BEST FUCKING ADVICE EVER.

you fucking, fucking moron.

pic unrelated, and fuck you too.

Much appreciated. Does Rice have any part in this meal plan you've suggested?

I bought a bottle of powerade today that says to drink 2 full bottles 60 minutes before the game. This kind of goes against what you say here.
