Hey /fit/ i have this problem.

I'll go through these phases where im on top of everything and im happy and shit but really stressed.

Then i start to decline to what i am right now... missing school and not working out or eating healthy. Sleeping in and completely unmotivated.

What has always bothered me is that when i was younger i saw a shrink and apparently i was diagnosed with Depression. I found out when i was at the doctor for a sore throat or something stupid.

Depression is a pussy's excuse... im no fucking pussy so /fit/ what should i do to keep myself on top of things?

You don't have depression, you're bipolar. Long story short, that means that the chemicals in your brain aren't working right and not reacting with each other like they should. See OP, you're the first person on 4chan I saw writing this. Why is that, you may ask? Because that line is indeed painfully correct, and as 4chan inhabitants are big, crying pussies deep down. They confirm this, day by day, with their profuse usage of the word "depression".

Often in these boards you will find threads about anti depressants, and, as would be largely expected, a great number of responses, because most people on 4chan have cried out to their mommies and daddies how they are depressed and ended up with a bunch of placebo pills. As I type this, I am looking at two responses from such people already, and more are undoubtedly to come, trying to convince you how it's beyond you, how only a bunch of crappy pills can make you feel better and how there's nothing you can do because you have an illness.

Which brings me to answering your question. What should keep you on top of things? Yourself. You are already better than all of these people. Whenever you're down, just think how there are thousands of people right now drinking some anti depressants. They are a bunch of pussies who fail at life. You're not. You're awesome, and you remind me of a different time, a time where people weren't group hugging and crying "I'm depressed bwaaah". Don't give yourself in to this shit OP. Remember: you > them.

this is in a sense true... some people handle things better or worse than others (often depending on how much shit they dealt with growing up)

most people can change it on their own, however in cases of ACTUAL depression (also, Bipolar-1 and bipolar-2 RC) many people are much aided by medication to help them get initial control of a very large imbalance.

the problem arises when the shitheads become addicted to the shit and the doctors don't force them to come off of it (how would they?)
tl;dr - no meds is best... meds make it easier if you do it right

I've always wondered about being bipolar.
I'm always being told that I'm such a happy chirpy person, and the majority of the time I'm either happy or neutral. But some days I get incredibly depressed and moody for no reason at all, and I can think about is the negative shit in my life. The next day it's as if it never happened and I am fine again.
Although, I refuse to research the topic because of the whole psychosomatic aspect of it. I don't wanna talk myself into unrest if im just plain healthy.

Still, I would like to know if there are aspects of diet or lifestyle things that can influence these days of severe self loathing.

if you're really keen check out the DSM IV criteria for major depression, dysthymia, and mania.
