Well /fit/, you fucking faggots, I decided that I wasn't going to wait on form to catch up with desire and did some barbell snatches. Not full snatches, but rather hang power snatches. Here's the breakdown of snatches: A full snatch is weight dead on the ground and when it breaks the chest line you full squat under the weight and raise up. A hang snatch is the same ordeal but you deadlift the weight to your hips first. A power snatch is only a partial squat underneath the weight. So that leaves us with the stupidly simple yet surprising complex hang power snatch. Unlike the clean where you have to break your wrists, this shit is done just standing there with a wide as fuck grip. You pretty much push your ass back a bit like you're going to jump and then guess what, you fucking jump while shrugging your traps, flinging the fucking weight above your head. I have read so many descriptions of the snatch and it can't be easily described, it simply must be done. I was trying to go through the form and then I said "FUCKRAWRRRRR" and jumped, leaned back and hurled that shit above me. I didn't worry too much about where my feet landed or how it got up there but the shit was there, locked out. I repeated and found the groove and my abs nearly cramped, I started to get pukey, my traps almost locked up when I raised my hands above my head five minutes later, my hands are torn to bits, my forearms are fried, and I feel fucking great and know my back is going to explode in muscle. I may have to benchpress one day to balance it out (or maybe i'll just jerk).

Sometimes you just gotta be fucking dangerous, break from the norm, and do something kind of stupid. You might break your neck or your monotony.

ITT: some skinny guy brags about his first time olympic lifting
>> Anonymous
you realise that all this bullshit you just wrote can be summerised as 'hip extension' don't you?

i'm very proud that you feel sucessful op. however, you should begin with an empty bar and break it down (the technique) until you think about adding weight.

I'd like tips on Olympic lifts. I'm usually so careful with form and I tend to go for controlled movements. Unsurpisingly, I instinctively restrain myself from slinging weights above my head for fear of falling ass backwards.

Are there any crucial elements to the technique I'm missing? I mean, even jumping feels unnatural to me. The most of I've done in this vein of weightlifting is a dodgy but pleasing 140+lbs clean and press.

form can always be improved.
Perfection is an illusion.
Ask someone knowledgable to watch your form and give advice.
