sup /fit/, let's have a thread about how much we fucking love OATZ.

i put a huge handful or two in all my protein shakes. i make oatmeal once a week, freeze it in bar-like shapes and eat them for breakfast on the way to class. when i want a snack, i put a fistful of oats in my mouth and wash it down with some whole milk. my shits are as hard as diamonds. feels fucking good man.

>> Anonymous
I eat oatmeal every morning.

I mix 1 dl oats, 2 dl water and 1 egg and put it in the micro.
Then I add frozen raspberrys, low sugar lingonberry jam and skim milk.

Oatz
Mixed Nuts (Hazelnuts, Cashews, Walnuts)
Blackberries
Raspberries
Blueberries
WHOLE milk

Amazing morning time. Then I eat two eggs on top of two slices of wholemeal toast and have a mug of tea. Good to go.
>> Anonymous
>>390789
good idea. peanut butter + oats = legume + grain = complete protein.

Good God, that sounds amazing. Now if only I could find natural peanut butter without using the internet...
>> Anonymous

Most supermarkets nowadays have a natural foods aisle. You could probably find it there.

I live in the city centre of Manchester. All we get within 3 miles is convenience store markets that are overpriced and only contain a handful of fruit and veg. The rest is booze processed crap.

You're on a roll today, /fit/. Finally, a reason to buy a blender.

Because /fit/ should help each other out. The less fat people there are in the world, the better it'll be.

i eat 1/4 cup of steel cut oats everyday for breakfast, going to phase them out soon though. too many carbs for me. figured out you only need 30g of carbs a day for ketosis
>> Anonymous
>>390848
agreed. i hope in world war 3 all the fatties are put in concentration camps and made into soap.
>> Anonymous
>>390862

Lol, oily fat soap.
>> Anonymous
>>390869
it would be great for the skin
>> Anonymous
>>390861

Why do you want ketosis? You low carbing/doing Atkins? 30carb grams/day will easily put you into ketosis if you are working out.

If you are serious about wanting to maintain ketosis, get yourself the pee strips called 'ketosticks' (might be ketostix). Any pharmacy has them, and last I bought them, they were made by Bayer.

Here's another hint. You can double the number of sticks you ahve by cutting each one in half lengthwise. You don't need a huge strip to do what you are doing. Really stretches the purchase.

Personally, I could tell when I was in ketosis by how my mouth tasted. Might have been bullshit, but I think it's true.

Also, I don't know how much of the carbs are FIBER grams, but those don't count towards the daily carb count when you are trying to maintain ketosis. Neither does alcohol sugars (like xylotol in gum I think..). Obviously sugar grams do count.

paleo diet my friend, no grains are allowed. so of course i have to drop the oats
>> Anonymous
I'm still on the 'eat well' diet. No voodoo for me. Love the oats.

Okay, I think I found a peanut butter I can have easily delivered to me that will work.

http://www.ilovepeanutbutter.com/detail_17010001__4.html#

Is this stuff any good? The nutritional details seem sound, but I'm an idiot when it comes to processing that info.
>> Anonymous
>>391101
looks fine, only thing you have to really look out for peanut butter is the fact that they add loads of sugar (or HFCS) sometimes. but they didn't so it looks fine
>> Anonymous
>>391101
I go with organic smuckers, has 1g of sugar per serving compared to most that have 8-9. Has the same quantity of protein as all the others too.
>> Anonymous
>>391106

Good to hear. I want to do the homemade peanut butter, but I don't have a blender yet.
>> Anonymous
>>391123

This one has 1g per serving as well, so I guess I hit the jackpot for the one peanut butter I can get delivered.

Yeah, OATZ! The packaging says it all really.

I'm all about the honey, but I'm up for the peanut butter idea. A spoonful of jam livens it up too.

Anyone have it with water instead of milk? I was reading some news article yesterday about the world porridge championships in Scotland and the top tier were all using water. I'd try it but I've got a feeling it'll taste like sludge.
>> Anonymous
>>391132
They actually sell that brand down the street from where I live... you probably don't need to have it delivered. Look around at little grocery stores and fruit markets.
>> Anonymous

>world porridge championships in Scotland

fucking europeans, what will they think of next
>> Anonymous
>>391167

People actually make oatz in milk vs water? I guess I could see that if you are looking to squeeze in more calories. I do not, so I use water.

I toss in diced granny smith (sour) apple pieces about 2 minutes before it is done. That 2 minutes heats the apple slightly and gets it to release its delish flavors.

If I don't have apple, I put a little sugar in.

Steel Cut Oats, FTW.

Not sure exactly what, but definitely something absolutely awesome!

i concur. chopped up apple bits + brown sugar + oatz = nom nom nom

This was the story, the winner used water from an underground river. Plus they traditionally eat it with salt.

Some crazy Dutch guy won the specialist category with oats plus marzipan, homemade icecream and single malt scotch whisky.

put your oats in a bowl, pour in enough milk to cover it all, then put it in the fridge with plastic wrap on top. leave it overnight and the oats will soak up the milk like when you cook them. best served early in the morning with sliced bananas mixed in.
