Is it alright to do chin-ups 1-2 days after bench press routine and upper body workout? I do chin-up -> diamond pushup -> chin-up and so on and I do about 10 of them for each session. I'm a skinny fuck, train about 3 times a week, (upper body+lower body+row).

I figured since I weigh so little, chin-ups are merely a minor workout?

How are you recovering? Are you ready for your next upper body session?

If you're progressing, fuck it go crazy.

chin ups are never a minor workout. period. they develope great relative strength. this is the only strength that counts.

I'm not sure what to make of this.
I do 5x5 80%+ bench-press once a week. If I do that + upper body monday and lower body (mostly just squats) on wednesday and row+chinups on friday/saturday?

My upper body burns pretty good, but I stretch properly after I'm done. I feel great 2 days later. How long do muscles need to rest? I'm worried about doing chinups on the same day as benchpress, mostly as I have no idea what muscles and musclegroups either work on (don't have trainers, private gym. And my training partner is as unexperienced as me (I read SQUATZ and BENCHPRESS are the 2 of the most important workouts)).

Maybe I should make a 9-day plan... I've only worked out for over a month, but I want to continue (without injuries or longterm conditions).

On the off chance that someone wants to know the answer: Muscles need as much recovery as they need. The time period involved varies from one person to the next.

As you increase your work capacity, you will be able to train the same muscle groups more often. Louie Simmons, powerlifting coach and human battering ram, trains as many as 21 times a week. He's spent his whole life building up to that level of work. (He's also been on steroids continuously for almost 40 years. Just ask him.)

If your poundages are going up and you feel up to it, don't worry about throwing an extra workout into your routine. If it's Thursday and you're bored and you want to do some pullups, DO FUCKING PULLUPS THEY WILL NOT RAPE YOU AND KILL YOUR DOG.

Hope that helps somebody.
