You're sort of proving my point for me. I have usually found /fit/ to be a very useful source of advice once you disregard the trolling, idiocy, and the assertion of mere opinion as fact.
But what is striking about the tenor of most discussion here is that there's a very strong, prevailing and narrow view about what constitutes "self-control" and "success." Quite frankly, the level of self-denial that is promoted here as a means to some ideal body shape (usually, but not always, a picture of a grotesque "body builder" who probably suffers from body dysmorphia and could do with fewer SQUATZ! and more therapy) would probably be regarded by most normal, well adjusted people in the real world as highly pathological.
I'm not saying anything particularly profound here. All anonymous internet boards exhibit these tendencies. We valorize individualism but tend to think in herds.
