Hey /fit/ i started exercising about a week ago and have lost 14 lbs already, is this good or bad?

(I was originally 266lbs and around 6ft, my build was a total fatass.)

Pic unrelated.

Oh and my exercising is a 4 mile walk every morning and swimming once a week.

pic chosen at random.

You're just losing a bunch of water. Drink moar.

That sounds like a lot but at 266 lbs it's not uncommon, mostly what's happening is your body is losing stored carbohydrate and also water (due to the nature of carbohydrates) from your muscles.

I've always drunk a lot, are you sure it's the water? I average more than 2 litres a day.

Also, i've noticed that if i carry too much shit with me when i'm out walking (Think heavy combat trousers, a 750 ml bottle of water, a wallet full of change and notes a mobile phone and an ipod) My shins hurt like fuck and it feels like someone has hit them with an axe

What the fuck is this? apart from general fatness. I've experienced it once before when i had to walk pretty far to an airport with a large suitcase full of shit.

> As both carbohydrates and protein hold water in the cells a loss of these macronutrients also results in a net loss of water. As a result rapid weight loss can often be made up of 75% water loss.

tl;dr: You have a lot of water stored up in your fat ass that is being burned along with the fat. 25% of 14lbs is around 4lbs, which is not too extraordinary. You're fine.
