so im having a fun little experiment starting tomorrow /fit/

in honor of those in 3rd world countries who live off small amounts of rice and donated food (freerice.com for example), Im going to emulate that food supply for a month. Im eating two cups of dry rice every day. I know this isn't the best diet. Your thoughts?
>> Anonymous
supplement your rice with buckets of vegetables, a handful or two of fruits, a sprinkling of non-red meats, and maybe, at the end of the month celebrate with a bite of steak, and you've just turned japanese. Enjoy living forever (albeit as a weaboo).
Srsly, I don't think this is a good idea for a very long period of time, but as long you don't kill yourself/lose your job due to starvation related side effects like being unable swat the flies off of your face, have fun.

I think you'll last three days max.

well let me be more specific.

Im doing this to help illustrate that people in 3rd world countries have a horrible diet based on donation food (for a documentary). Im actually hoping for some sort of drastic change to document.

What do you think Ill encounter?

I think you should get the abortion.

for fuck's sake, at least cook the rice.
Otherwise, you might as well be eating rocks.
>> Anonymous
oh no, ill be cooking the rice. I meant uncooked rice as to specify how much rice it would be in 2 cups (as it gets bigger after cooking)
>> Anonymous
are you just going to drink water?
>> Anonymous
yea, just water and rice. Im going to get a weekly checkup at the doctor with maybe a blood test
>> Anonymous
maybe I'll post my documentary on here after Im done.

OH SHIT. I was about to compare it to the McDonalds documentary. What will the documentary be called? I would definitely watch it.
>> Anonymous
CP for you if you follow through with it

>>246095

yea, Super Size Me is an obvious comparison. Im going to hopefully be able to focus it less on "woe is me, Im hungry" and more with interviews and such with professors and homeless people about hunger. I figure people would rather watch that than me bitching for the whole thing. I'll be sure to post it on here when its done and edited (so over a month from now).

You dont need to give me CP, just meat.

Sounds like it'll give you enough nutrients to stay alive, and although it's not definitely healthy, it would make your body eat its own fat. I myself eat loads of rice, but I live in a house of 5, so we make large pots which contain about 3 cups each. Normally if I'm hungry (like just now, I am eating rice as I type this) I would take a bowlfull of rice and some precooked vegetables, and microwave them both, the rice with a large lump of butter in the center and the veggies steaming in a covered cup. I've done this for months, we have rice with meals every other day practically, and eating (mostly) rice isn't that bad. It is very filling and, if you allow some other ingredients, can be very tasty. I love smothering mine in butter.
Good luck! :)

Even though these people are poor (such as those in Africa), they do have a little more in their diet. I go through paperwork which is essentially a daily lifestyle survey of rural East Africans. They usually have something like dried fish and sometimes vegetables. Many have their own chickens, but they tend to split them among many people over time so it's not much.

TL:DR poor people don't really only live off of just rice necessarily.
>> Anonymous
uh, do you have a 3rd world country in particular that you're emulating?

Your diet sounds pretty unresearched.

Yeah, but what will be the title? Do you have a project website? Anything like that?

Now hold on a minute, you have eaten rice in the past right? And you aren't on some rediculous like all egg or all steak diet?

That was the biggest thing that bothered me about Super Size Me. He's like a ultra-vegan and then decides to eat all Mc Donalds? Yeah that's great since most Americans are completely Vegan who eat at Mc Donalds. He takes his first bite of a burger and immediately throws up... Come on man what the fuck. He hasn't even swalloed it yet...

after going to Japan, I got hooked on sticky rice and have been incorporating it into my meals a lot. Its a shame since I've been eating it so much before this month long trial. Im thinking of getting brown rice as it supposed will have more nutrients in it.

Thanks for the support.

seconded. pick a place first.

Don't play man... you're dicking around by eating only 2 cups of rice a day!? WTF man? You have the privilege to fucking eat gallons of rice a day while those niggers in Swaziland have to eat dirt and fucking eye crust!

yea i eat pretty varied foods regularly, and love rice. Eating the rice itself shouldn't be that hard.

I'll admit it's a bit rushed, but I'm really anxious to get started with it before college starts back up. Im meeting with some college professors this week to ask them questions and hopefully they can point me in the direction of anthropology research on a set country.

Honestly, I might just do it based on the WFP information from freerice. That site has gotten a lot of national attention and is pretty big at my college. WFP even says that they expect there to be more food in their diet, but how can they guarantee that? There has to be people who are only getting the rice.

>>246114
no title yet. Figured that would come through the experience. Some word or phrase would come up. I guess I could always call it "Super Starve Me" lol. My website is down right now as Im building it and switching hosts, but it will be up on concussion-productions.com when its done. Im happy you're interested into it. I'd bookmark that address and pull it up after a month.

That'd be a good idea. I'm certainly not an expert, but I do have a BS in Anthropology, and I gotta say that most LDCs have a higher standard of nutrition than two cups a day. Still piss-poor compared to a Western nation, but better than that. No offense or anything.

Reminds me of something my high school did once.
They handed out slips of color paper to the entire grade at lunch time. Those who got certain colors ate a certain meal. I forget the exact percentage, so I'm guessing.
About 70% of the class got to eat just rice and water for lunch. 10% ate nothing, no lunch at all. 15% ate brown rice and milk.
And the last 5% got an insane lunch with ice cream and pizza and soda and everything. Way more than a normal lunch.
Of course, this was meant to drive home a representation of what the entire world is like, where the majority don't eat enough, some are starving, some eat about right, and the rest of a tiny amount pig out.
Goddamn do I remember being hungry and hoping the kids who pigged out would fucking share something.

Most 3rd world country citizens probably get more nutrients than Americans : / Sad but there's nothing in most food now a days but fluff. At least they are eating foods in close to their natural states.
