What's with lifters recommending I megadose everything?

Whatever supplement I contemplate taking, I research a bit first.

I used to go on lifter message boards only to find out they recommended taking ten times more then what the package usually recommends. Whether it was fish oil or whey.

They on to something, or are they just stuck in the more is better attitude? Brainwashed by supplement companies and reflecting their own philosophy on muscle gains?
