Not too many medical questions, so here's one.

I drink a lot during the day (today it was about 3 cups of coffee and maybe a liter of water, but it can be more). But lately I've been having what I can only describe as anal leakage. It only seems to happen when I'm at work though. It hasn't been in any amount that I'd consider frightening, but it's still really gross and uncomfortable.

Besides the obvious "GO SEE A DOCTOR" advice (I'm calling tomorrow), is there anything I can change up to fix this?

Pic unrelated.

Easy, stop going to work.

Also, change your diet (overy greasey foods should disappear as they can cause gastric issues) and stop having anal sex.

Are you sure you're wiping enough?

A liter of water is not that much - I typically go through a gallon a day, and that will almost double when I'm cutting.

But beside that, anal leakage. Did you recently change your diet in any significant way, or begin taking new medications? Anal leakage absent dietary causes can be indicative of some serious medical conditions, and some relatively minor ones.

Greasy and oily foods can cause this. How's your diet?
>> Anonymous
a drastic change in diet(mainly greasy foods) and a new medication may be the culprit.

OP here, to be honest there are more symptoms. I've had indigestion, inconsistent stool (can be hard, soft, brown, green, etc.), and on a few rare occasions blood in stool.

My diet is mediocre. I generally eat a decent breakfast/lunch (only started eating breakfast recently however), but usually go for Subway or fast food for dinner. I'm not on any medication and haven't been for a long time.

I've been trying to wait it out for a while and see if maybe it'd pass, but this anal leakage thing has me sufficiently grossed out enough to go do something about it.

Dear OP

eat more fibre

Problem solved

Seriously, it's that easy.

im not sure how much creamer is in that coffee, or how much milk you drink a day, but you could be a little lactose intolerant.

OP here, I drink my coffee black, and at most I'm drinking a glass of milk a week.

drink less coffee, eat more solid foods.

Any family history of Celiac Disease, aka Gluten allergy?

Sounds like the common advice is "MORE FIBER/LESS COFFEE". I'll make sure to go easy on the coffee tomorrow (gotta find a new way to stay awake at work now though). For fiber what's a good way to go? I hear supplements work fine for this.

No clue, sorry.

Should I go to the doctor as well to be on the safe side?

YES. Go to the doctor. There are many very serious ailments this could potentially be a symptom of. With luck, your case will wind up very simple and minor, but if you stall, and it's something horrible, then you're fucked ever harder. Go to the doctor.

Supplements would help you with your fiber imbalance, but you'd make yourself feel a lot better eating some fresh fruits and vegetables. You probably don't care, but I think that co/ck/s should make it a point to provide you mis/fit/s with advice that will probably lead to better health (and fitness).

For Fiber, eat a bowl of high fiber cereal in the morning. I use Total, and if eaten everyday, will turn "anal leakage" into "anal sea urchins".

I'm rather amused by all of the "you need more fiber" advice here. If he's got steatorrhea, bloody stool, and noticeable inconsistent color/consistency, he's one the line for diseases ranging from celiac, or maybe blocked bile ducts, at the best, to serious pancreatic problems at worst. Fiber is not going to fix that. OP needs to hit up an MD ASAP.

Well, thanks mis/fit/s. I'll try to get into the doctor's this week, and I'll let you know how everything went!

hi! Caffeine is a DIURETIC!

Diuretic = you pee more

This thread is about things coming out of anuses, not penises.

All diuretics increase the excretion of water from the body. OP already inst drinking enough water. That is a good place to start.

How many artificial sweetners do you use? Do you chew a lot of sugar free gum? Aspartame etc. can have laxative effects, so maybe worth stopping taking such stuff.

other symptoms include brain loss and death. Enjoy your diet marketed products.

diuretic root word being uretic from urine. Liquid is pulled in from interstitial tissue and cells and isn't reabsorbed in the distal tubes in your kidneys = you urinate more = less liquid in the rest of your body. Having anal leakage is usually a result of a play on your sympathetic nervous system which accelerates intestinal transit and reduces sphincter contraction. Can be due to a number of factors including foods and medication. Coffee could play a role in that it has a high amount of caffeine that acts of your sympathetic nervous system.
