hey /fit/. I should hit my proudest moment in my life, losing 50 lb, by Thursday. I am underageb&, I'll admit, so that said, I'm currently 5'4" and will be 146 lb soon enough. What weight should I be going towards, though? I was thinking 130-135 lb, but from what I've heard, I'll still be fat looking. I may go for 127 lb, just to say I lost 69 lb, but it seems like that may be overkill. I dunno, what should I do?

eat healthily, work out (cardio and resistance each to some degree), DON"T STARVE YOURSELF... YOU ARE STILL GROWING AND NEED FOOD

my method of dealing with the issue was to join a junior crew (crew is the name of a rowing team... just as club is the name of a baseball team)

I put on muscle, lost fat, etc... shit was cash.

tl;dr - do what you know to be good for you... and consider joining a sports team

Never really been much of a sports guy. I dislike most sports because I was often made fun of by the people who played it often. Living in a suburban rich white kid who try to act "gangster" city wasn't too great to me. I'm thinking about, for maintaining, to doing 4-5 days a week at the gym, 30-45 min. of cardio and then weight lifting. I'm not sure how that will go, since I've never done it, but I've heard some websites out there are great for beginners. Know any? Also, can you help out with my main problem?

find a torrent or rapidshare of "starting strength" if you are interested in lifting.

I was in the same position with other sports... I was technically one of the best 7 kids on my middle school basketball team, but I was the skinny nerd so I never (literally) got passed to unless the coach specifically yelled @ someone to do it... my job was rebound, pass, wait, repeat even though I practiced an extra hour per day so I could hit 3s from anywhere in my zone (I was shooting guard despite my lack of shooting)

but I digress bitterly....

crew was nice because i didn't need anyone else in order to do what I had to, and the only shit I got was the competitive friendly variety
to your main issue... don't lose weight for the sake of losing weight... lose fat because it is healthy.

Why no gym? For the time being, I'm doing mostly just cardio working out, for 65 minutes a day. I'm still two months away from 130 lb, where I will consider to start weight training. Thanks for naming that torrent by the way, whoever recommended it.

gym isn't bad, you just have to be careful... if your school offers a weight lifting class, that's a *great* way to be introduced to lifting properly.

the key to lifting while still growing is to avoid injury... as it is possible to damage growth plates...

stories about lifting stunting your growth are myths... stories about people breaking a growth plate and getting screwed up re *not* myths

not true, usually school lifting classes are absolute bullshit if it isn't taught by a coach who actually knows what they're doing

my school lifting class was taught by a rock climber, a recreational lifter, an ex-pro footballer, and the current defensive recruiter for a university in colorado.... I guess I was just lucky... I assumed most scholl lifting classes weren't bullshit

Mine was just some guy who sat there and did nothing. The faggots would pick up dumbbells, circle around the kid who was doing a single bench, typical young faggot bullshit. And then they went to lunch and ate a personal pizza and chicken tenders.
