Hey /fit/, I have a question...

I've been lifting weights for maybe 4 months or so now (trying to put on mussels), my workouts average about 30 mins, 5/6 days a week. I started off about 140 pounds (about 5'11), and have definitely put on some mass, although it's really slow progress. I'm eating a lot more than i used to, and trying to manage my diet correctly (5 meals/day, 500 cal above maintenance etc).

Thing is, although i'm 20, my body seems to be really slow in developing. I still have very little facial hair, have a young appearance. To put it in perspective, my brother who's 2 years younger than me appeared to have pretty much finished puberty by the time he was 17 (embarassing huh), whilst I still look like a kid pretty much.

So my question really is whether or not I can expect to see more impressive gains once my body hurries the fuck up and finishes developing? I hope this makes sense and i've not rambled too much..

tl;dr - i'm a really 'late bloomer', lifting weights, eating lots, and gains are slow to come. Will i notice more gains when my body's done developing, or am i just being impatient / not working hard enough?

hey you sound just like me - i'm 20 and 5'9" and i started out at around 130. i have no facial hair worth mentioning. i've managed to put on about 18 lbs in the past three months. it is slow work, but i assume its because i have a small frame as opposed to my "undeveloped-ness" as my pubes have stopped growing and my balls have dropped i just assume i won't have to shave much and am blessed with good/youthful looks.

i'd recommend upping your daily caloric intake (in britain the average is supposed to be 2500 for a healthy adult male) to around 3500-4000 or simply as much as you can consume. workout for a little longer than 30 mins at a time, i usually take around 40mins to an hour and a half. make sure you get a good "burn" on each workout, then go home and eat a shitload and then rest a shitload. SQUATS boost the hell out of your probably fairly quick metabolism as is, so be sure to eat as much as you can consume after your heavy workouts. and get cocoa butter and stuff because you're probably gonna get stretchmarks like me. prevention is the best cure.

and workout harder

if you're not in pain after your workout, you didn't work hard enough. if you feel like you're gonna be sick when working out, go be sick, then finish your workout. remember that old moniker "no pain no gain" and convince yourself that cutting will be more fun.

Ignore this retard. Throwing up is one of the most counterproductive things you can do for building muscle.
