Wasn't sure if this was the right place to ask but Im wondering if anyone here is an EMT, or is doing EMT classes right now. I'm starting in about 2 months and wondering if there will be any PT. I'm not out of shape or anything, but Im not exactly the most athletic. Just wondering what should I be expecting?

I'm doing classes at the local Fire Dept. if that helps.

there wont be mandatory PT but you should be in shape in case you are on a call and your strength is needed. Endurance is good to have. You should be in shape no matter what you do in life. I took the EMT class but i wasn't 18 so i couldn't get certified. passed the class though and did my shifts at hospital and ambulance.

Alright cool, thanks. I was just curious since the uniform requirements listed running shoes.

I'll be taking EMT classes when I finish High School. What are the hair requirements? I don't like having short hair, but my hair isnt past my shoulders or anything.

I just did EMT training at my college. We didnt have any PT, but it was recommended.

Just finished my training a month or so ago. The only requirements we had were no shorts or hats and respectable clothing for the ladies. No PT involved ALTHOUGH make sure you're strong enough to do the various patient lifts that they make you do.

you don't need that but your chief or head guy might want you to look clean to look professional. Just think of this as any other job but in this case you will be interacting with people and saving lives so look and act pro. being in shape is good too

I am taking my final exam in a week, and I am currently employed with rural metro.

most EMTs are fat. Im 18 and Im thin and tall, and I found from my clinicals that its mostly sitting around in the ambulance/at the hospital with short bursts of actual action. you should be ok if you can comfortably lift 250lbs with a partner.
