I need some medical advice.

I'm a college student. Today, I was working out and tripped over an edge of the mat, and I tore a portion of my toenail. It's about 1/3 the toenail deep, and it's still on there because it's very deep and I dont want to just cut it off. I did not apply antibiotics at the time, but I just did just now. This was in the morning though, and I went through with my classes wearing shoes and socks. I merely applied a bandaid over it.

What's the best course of action?

It looks no different than in the morning. There's a little bit of blood around the tear mark, which is shaped like a crooked / going into my big toenail. It doesn't quite tear off a circle, so it's more like a flap sitting on top of my nailbed.

I was thinking of just letting it grow, and cutting off the mangled area as it grew. I'll apply NEOSPORIN for the first few days, and wear sandals everyday rather than socks + shoes like today.

What do you guys think I should do? It doesn't hurt unless I touch it. I didn't apply neosporin UNDER the toenail either.

Pic is something that happened the other day.

1. cut loose part of toenail off
2. apply neosporin
3. bandage

how can you be in college and not know how to handle minor injuries?
