Hey /fit/.

First time here, as I'm not really a fitness freak.

Anyway, a bit an off-topic post, but.. Do any of you do anything to entertain yourself while running? Or have any funny stories?

I remember when I used to run with a friend, one day we was running down a long street. And there was a kid on his bike going really slow. So we were about 10 meters behind him, and he turned around. He saw us running, and he tried to speed up. I guess he thought we were running after him and his bike or something, then he ran right into a parked car, haha.

Okay, that's my story. I want yours. ~

I watch Ren & Stimpy while I'm on my exercise machine.

When I run on the gravel flightline here in Afghanistan, I try to come up with plans of what I would do and where I would go if we were suddenly attacked. This changes during the course of the run as ditches that could be used for cover get too far and I'm out in the open. Also, when I turn around to check if there is anyone/thing behind me, I like to pretend I am Cary Grant in North by Northwest.

I fill my mp3-player with industrial and thats all i need for muscle training. I try to get cardio-equipment with build-in tv if something good is on the sports-channel, sometimes i time it to view CSI during the workout.

Ever since I got my Archos 504 for Christmas, I've loaded it up with movies and TV shows, so I watch those while on the treadmill/elliptical.
Some people lay their magazines across the face of the treadmill. I can't keep my eyes steady enough for that...

I used to hum candence to myself, like the running songs they have in the military. But that gets old really quick.

I dunno man, I just concentrate on doing the best run possible.

I use a mp3 player and load it up with a good mix of slow/fast music that inspires various paces of jogging.

Yeah I run on this old road with hardly any traffic. And so I was listening to my mp3 player and the beach boys popped up on it playing good vibrations. I didn't realize it was on there so I turned it up and sort of started dance/running and was dancing and running at the same time, it HAD to look ridiculous. After a while I looked behind me and there was a car not 10 feet away driving really slow. No telling how long it was behind me waiting on me to move out of the way watching me act like a total jackass.

That's my story.

I imagine myself being chased by 28 days later zombies or being at the head of the pack in NYC marathon, same thing just about. And lots of Muse on MP3 player

I don't have that much imagination but whatever works I guess.
Good movie and good band though!

I used to live by the beach, so I went biking along "1st street" all the time. Hawt chicks 'n' stuff, y'know? Anywho, I was riding along and this car comes up and the young kids therein throw a shoe at me. I was more bemused than anything else.

I also used to jog on the beach. I'm no looker, so I am kind enough to those around me to wear a goddamned shirt. Seems I'm the only one who shows that consideration. Friggin' land-whales all over the place with as little clothing as possible. If nothing else, it maked me feel good about myself...

As for entertainment/motivation during cardio, I just force an aggressive gait, by which I mean I stomp a little rather than being light footed. Actually works pretty well, too. Strangely enough, the TV right in front of me rarely offers me enough entertainment to draw my mind away from the exercise...

I start doing random maths in my head

i haven't found anything that really takes my mind off the running.. i run on a treadmill 99% of the time.. i usually just pick something in front of me like a spot on the wall and focus on it with all my attention, the ipod doesn't help much, but running without it is almost unbearable now lol

I've had that effect on people when I used to jog in the park at night. This one kid, must have been like 14, really freaked out. Guess he didn't notice me til I was right behind him... once he did, he fucking FLEW. Right into the street actually (good thing there were no cars). He had his hands all up ready to fight hahah. I just waved and jogged on casually.

I ran for the first time in ages this morning, really out of shape but I remembered how great it feels. Ponder some deep philosophical shit while running, then think about your life and where its going.

When I started running, an equally fat bastard living a few doors away would always taunt me as I ran past his front garden, It really got me down. Now I've lost some epic weight and everytime I pass his house I drop my running shorts and give him some cheek. he gets owned everytime.
