posture: the source of my ills. Anonymous
In high school I had bad posture while at the computer and reading. I have been aware that the base of my neck is out of place for a couple years now and have been unsuccessful getting it to go back into place despite specific attempts to strengthen my neck. I get terrible headaches whenever I manage to make a slight adjustment. Anyone else had this problem and succeeded in fully correcting it? I think that maybe the muscles are too tight from being worked, so any ideas on how to relax/stretch them would be appreciated...

As if a chiropractor could actually do anything.

yeah, I never went to a chiropractor because I had a friend who did and she told me that they will not work on necks because it is too risky to cause serious damage. seriously though, any other input is welcome on how to reduce the pain while I am trying to correct this. it hurts enough when I do work on it that I get frustrated and leave it alone.

>The basic idea of classical chiropractic is that "subluxations" are the cause of most medical problems. According to chiropractic, a "subluxation" is a misalignment of the spine that allegedly interferes with nerve signals from the brain. However, there is no scientific evidence for spinal subluxations and none have ever been observed by medical practitioners such as orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, or radiologists.

same shit happened to me. My high school years were all spent playing world of warcraft about 8 hours per day..so eventually my back got all fucked up and so is my neck. Like instead of being a straight line my neck is very curved beginning at that 1st vertebrae which sort of pops out a bit for everyone.

How is your core strength? Try building core strength to make it easier to maintain good posture. I'm not sure about neck stuff though...

thanks for the input, I will perhaps try that wrestler's bridge after a warmup sometime soon. and yeah, problem with chiropractors is they won't tell you about exercises etc.. to fix the problem, they just adjust you and let you go so you can come back again in a week or two with the same problem again. building core strength is the approach I have been using so far, a very eye opening experience when I first started working on that(uneven muscle development is almost worse than no tone at all it seems).

facepulls for the win

get out of DAILY FLEXION ROUTINE

as 1 hr 3x a wk will not compensate for 20 years 24/7 of bad posture

sleeping with your belly up without a pillow helped me.

it's hard to fall asleep at first but you'll get used to it.
