No one seems to want to help, so I come to you, /fit/. I can't fall asleep until late. It's almost 4 am and I can't get into a normal sleep cycle. When I go to sleep late, I wake up after noon. How can I get to sleep? I guess the first step would be to not be online... Soothing fish picture is sort of related.

Force yourself to wake up early. Set the alarm clock.

I've tried, but I seem to turn off my alarm in my sleep.... then I wake up at 2pm and my parents get all pissed off.

If you're using your phone as an alarm, set multiple alarms, each a few minutes after the previous one. If you turn the first one off in your sleep, you'll wake up on the next one. You have to be careful with this, though. If you get in a habit of turning off the first few alarms and going back to sleep, you might accidentally turn them all off.

Make your alarm the most annoying shit possible.

Place your alarm clock/phone/whatever across your room from your bed, forcing you to physically get up and walk to turn it off.

Finally, have the willpower to stay awake once you wake up instead of just laying back down.

no phone, but I'll try the alarm across the room thing. Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions! I'm gonna try sleeping now.

This is bs. I have your problem. Whats wrong is your prolly getting to o much stimulation at night. Online, tv, etc. The lights and stuff counteract your bodies natural rythem telling you to sleep when it's dark.

Also there is some sleeping pills you can take. Not a prescription tranquilizer. But it's just a pill that has the same thing your body produces when you get sleepy.

Also work out during the day. You'll sleep better.

The stuff is called Melatonin.

you're probably right about the stimulation. I do work out (kung fu) and I'm tired by afternoon, but as soon as it's evening and nighttime, I'm totally awake. Is there any way I could help myself relax and make myself sleepier?

Read a book or the newspaper or something. Don't watch TV or do anything on the computer.

I'm hesitant to tell you to do some weightlifting later at night I'm not sure how you'll react it's diffrent for people.

try to find the melatonin stuff. It helps you get sleepy rather than make you sleep.

A warm bath before you sleep can help. You body reacts to a drop in temperature by getting sleepy. So your body will be warm form the shower and you'll get a little sleepy after you cool down.

Also jerking off can help. people do react differently. But it can help you go to sleep.

exercise at night just wakes me up. and I think the jerking off thing was said assuming that I was a guy. But anyway, tomorrow night, I'll try having a shower.

Yeah the advice was fro ma guys point of view. Vigorous weight lifting will knock you on your butt. You'll be so glad to see a bed.

Light exercises just wakes you up. I was saying more of an exerting workout.

You can rub off. >.> Haha. Still has the same effect.

I'm telling you the stuff works. MELATONIN. it's the stuff your body produces when your sleepy. It's not a drug.

I don't want to sound ignorant, but melatonin isn't addictive or anything, right? And just because I'm a girl doesn't mean exercise is light. I do lift weights, but not in a gross female-body-builder kind of way.

The women thing meh. I just know how it reacts to boys. I don't want to give you bad advice. I don't know how it will effect you.

Here's an easy way to go to sleep at the right time. Stay up all night and through the next day, then go to sleep at 8-9pm. Don't be a bitch and take a nap. If you can last until it's time to sleep your clock will reset.

It always works.

This is how i reset my body clock:

Wake up in the afternoon because I couldn't sleep the night before
Stay awake till morning next day (or until physically exhausted)
Sleep for a whole day, normally wake up when it is still dark.
Stay in bed and get up at whatever time in the early morning.

Its probably bad for your digestion and metabolism etc but i suppose it wont be anything long term as long as you don't do it too much.
