Hey /fit/,

I have been jogging a bit for the past few weeks. I am looking into starting HIIT. Is jogging/sprinting intervals the best way to do this?

Also, I am a noob and was wondering whether I should stretch before or after, or after a short warmup but before the HIIT.

Basic goal is to lose a bit of fat, but I'm not that fat (18yo, 6', 160 pounds). Mostly I need to improve my puny lungs and heart, so I don't die.

Need protips.

Pic unrelated, but cute.

As much as I love cute, I really need a few quick answers on this :(

I'm going to bed I'll check in the morning, hopefully someone will have answered with something other than a request for sauce.

Yes. Run full intensity, then jog, repeat as desired. Most people here seem to work a 30 sec sprint/10 sec jog.

Warmup, then do light stretching. After exercise and during cool down is when you should be stretching.

Try dynamic rather than static stretches. Do a short warmup jog. Proceed with your HIIT. And yes, HIIT is a very good way to lose bodyfat. If you're looking for ways to get more out of each session, try taking glutamine about 90 minutes before training. This will aid muscle reparation and maybe help to prevent atrophy. Also, after training, consume something protein rich.

Other than that, it's worth looking into the rest of your diet if you're serious about losing fat, as in, looking to go into single digit bodyfat percentage. Personally I don't think that's worthwhile, unless you're really into visible abs.

I just did 2 minutes of sprinting, and I think 3-4 minutes of jogging. I felt like a fatass, as when I was finished my head was throbbing and my heart was pulsing. Then I stretched for about 10 minutes. Going to take a shower, come out and eat peanut butter + oatmeal.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.
