try some Melt Banana - its japanese punk with crazy guitar noises and mean basslines. stop listening to disturbed.

also, download some Scorn for drum and bass that is ONLY drums and dirrrrrrrrrrttttttttttyyyyyyyy bass.

daft punk for cardio, clutch for lifting. enjoy.

Anything by Yanni. My theory is that you will try to run faster than the speed of sound to get away from his music.

Anything by Strapping Young Lad. Never a dull song and always bi-polar and pissed off. Pick up their Greatest Hits album, Anon highly recommends.

My XC team's song is Don't Stop Believing. If we're in the mood (and we usually are) we'll sing the whole thing while running. Recently, one of us has even been mimicking the guitar solo.

Any *A Tribe Called Quest
*(hip-hop [but not rap] is fucking maaad nice for running)
Also, cheezy as it may be, the soundtrack from the first Hackers movie is fucking great (minus one or two slow songs i'd reccomend you leave out. you'll know them when you hear them)

Every single time this song comes on, I know I'm about to break into the fastest sprint of my life. And it helps that the intervals where the music takes off (ready for take-off!) the music build-up lasts for exactly a minute.

Listen to podcasts or audiobooks as you jog. If you're open-minded enough to get beyond the "podcasts are stupid iPod-things" and "audiobooks are stupid, I don't want to hear a 'book-on-tape'" mentality, then I think you could enjoy listening to those as you jog. There are many podcasts out there that are entertaining and also very information-rich. The same could be said with audiobooks. Email me if you're interested in what I have to recommend.

When you want to sprint, change it to a song that really makes you feel manly. A song that fills you with energy, that gives you goosebumps, and makes the hair on the back of your neck rise.

The songs that do that for me are a few fighting tunes from various anime and lots of heavy metal mixes of Nobuo Uematsu works (The Black Mages, Advent Children). Most especially the Advent Children version of One Winged Angel. I would be curious to hear if other people could list songs that make them feel the way I do. Or maybe, I'm just special.

Yeah, I talk from experience. I've been long distance running for over a year now and those are the kind of things I listen to as I'm moving around.
