Advise, derision, whatever works. Anonymous
Hello, /fit/.

I don't belong here, but I want to, some day. I'm five eleven, 304 pounds, and am starting on a diet and exercise tomorrow. And I seek advice.

Last time I did this years back, I got myself down to 260 quite quickly, basically by keeping under 1000 calories a day, cutting out soda altogether, and walking every day, jogging some other days. I'd also take multivitamins to compensate for whatever I wasn't getting from eating less.

Is this a bad plan? It worked well the first time, but I honestly don't know enough about Health and Fitness to say if it is good or not.

Don't eat less, just do more. You can't maintain that diet so don't even try to or you'll get tired of it and balloon right back up(refer to your first time). Cut out the soda and shit and get your ass moving and you'll oose wieght.

You know what made me lol? You're probably fatter now (that is, higher body fat percentage) than you were before because your starvation diet caused lean body mass loss. I'm sure you thought you were doing well, but in the end, you proved yourself too much of a goddamn failure to even do that right.

I mean, if only there were a wealth of resources on the internet or in your library or bookstore to help you lose weight successfully. Oh... wait.

at 304 pounds you don't need to eat 1000 cal to lose weight
what did you eat before your diet?

You didn't "balloon back up" because you went on a 1000 calories a day diet, you went back up because you clearly looked at it as a temporary change and reverted back to eating crap and not exercising. When you do it this time, do it properly as a lifestyle change. More to the point, why did you stop at 260? My only assumption is you burnt out from starving yourself, perhaps im wrong.

Step 1 - Eat better. Not less.
Step 2 - Keep eating multivitamins regardless
Step 3 - Exercise. Do more, not less.
Step 4 - Why are you drinking soda anyways? Go for skim milk, green tea; something that doesn't eat at your bones and load you up
Step 5 - Don't be satisfied with 260. Go for a much better number; the goal you set will affect your mindset which will affect your discipline while which'll help you get through this
Step 6 - ???
Step 7 - Profit
