Weight Watchers or Curves? Anonymous
I can only afford one, so I gotta choose. I've done weight watchers in the past with results. I lost 10 pounds in a month, and I was working out at the time in martial arts (because I could afford both back then, the dojo was pretty cheap actually).
I just did a one-time trial of Curves. It's very close to my house and it's very valuable to me that I can work out without men around making me self-conscious, but shit's expensive. I mean, I COULD work out on my own, but I already know that I'm not very self-disciplined for that. I don't think my diet is very bad, I haven't gained weight in about 2 years, and I've been slowly losing weight at about a pound a month already.
If it matters, I need to lose about 50 pounds, but I've already got a decent muscle base. It's my endurance that's shit.
>> Anonymous
Shit like running or skipping rope is free. Watching your diet is cheap too.

So you are happy of not gaining weight in 2 years? shit, you sould be loosing, if you are overweight. A pound a month? what a failure of a diet.

tl;dr lurk moar.
>> Anonymous
Neither, get to a real gym.
>> Anonymous
>>195322
Sure they're free but I'd be more likely to do it if I were at a gym. Indoors. Besides, if I pay for it, I'm going to do it. If I don't do it I've wasted my money. I'm a really cheap bastard so it's a huge incentive. Works the same way with Weight Watchers, just being there makes me do it.
I didn't say I was happy with losing a pound a month. And I'm not dieting either, at all. I just eat like I normally do and lose weight like that. That's the reason I want to diet and exercise, so I can speed it up. But I can only afford one program. I figure I'll lose weight with either choice.
>> Anonymous
>>195324
It IS a real gym, they have a specific routine plan with a variety of equipment, ends up working out every muscle, and they expect you to jog in place between machines.
Seriously, I don't want to be working out in front of men. I'm way too insecure for that.
>> Anonymous
>>195306

Curves; weight watchers is a scam. Rapid weight loss almost never sticks.
>> Anonymous
>>195342
If the 'gym' tells you what to do and when to do it then it isn't a real gym.

If you can't do deadlifts it isn't a gym.
>> Anonymous
I'd do it alone. But where did you get that pic? It was hilarious.
>> Anonymous
>>195336
Erm, I'd say it's easier to regulate your diet yourself than it is to do fitness work at home. BUT only if you feel comfortable at the gym and if you actually want to increase your fitness. If you're not that fussed about fitness you don't need a gym membership to lose weight, you can get by fine by doing regular outdoor exercise (i.e. walking places, jogging, cycling, a sport hobby...) and keeping a good diet, in which case the community feel of weight watchers might be better...
>> Anonymous
>>195348
I'd rather be told what's a good routine because I have no interest in doing any real research. I'm not really interested in muscle-building anyway, I'm more interested in cardio basically.
And if I could I'd go back to that dojo, but I kind of left on really bad terms and it's far away. $80 a month for authentic Aikido was an awesome deal.
>> Anonymous
>>195353
If you have no interest in looking up simple exercises and routines you will never have the discipline to drop 50 pounds baby.
>> Anonymous
>>195352
I already bike and hike a little (very little.) Jogging I refuse to do in public because I look very ridiculous, and it's rather hard to do on trails which is what I prefer. Plus, the weather sucks around here. It's only between 60-80 degrees for like a month a year.
So I'm really not self-disciplined enough to do outdoor exercise. It's easier to go to a gym for a half hour than to hike for 4 hours. And when it comes to biking, I'm really too out of shape to do it for very long. I barely made it a mile today (mind you it's a mountain bike on a trail.)

Sounds like the gym is the best option now. I'm not the type to be obsessed with food, I think I can easily diet on my own if I just tried.
>> Anonymous
>>195358
There's no reason for me to look it up. They explained to me what the exercises in the workout do and it sounds fine to me.
>> Anonymous
>>195364
Yes but there are probably better ways to accomplish what you're trying than what they suggest, do a little homework and get to a real gym.
>> Anonymous
>>195366
I'm just trying to lose fat and gain endurance. I'm already pretty happy with my level of strength and muscle.
I liked their work-out, I like their program in general. But I'm wondering what's a better choice, improving my exercise or improving my diet.

I tell ya man, running is just all around good shit, and to be honest, a cold climate is great for if you are insecure about running. No-one is around, you can take it nice and easy but still get a good workout because of the added challenge of teh snow and such.

I only started running recently, and the deep winter was the best (and I live in northern Minnesota). It was -10 F (actual temp, not windchill) at times when I was running, but really the body regulates your heat just fine with proper layering ( hat and baklava, underarmor shirt, a cold weather running coat, polypropylene long-johns, shorts for added crotch warmth, and windpants for the worst case, less otherwise).

Pic related. It was -14 F that day, coldest run ever, but I felt fine the whole time.

>there are probably better ways to accomplish what you're trying than what they suggest

Ya know, that's a very stupid generalist comment, honestly.

While you could prolly do better if you look up and research deep and long, having someone who has analyzed your current situation and custom designed a workout for you will almost always be better than being a noob to workout planning and trying to piece together a workout from various internet sources that may be intended for people at completely different levels.

Think before you talk.

Cold workouts are the best, because you don't feel cold at all, and no-one is around so it's like your own private world

Well, the biggest stupid reason I hate running is because honestly my tits just bounce around way too much. Really, I fucking hate running in general. Hiking's fine, biking's fine, and martial arts is generally fine, but goddamn do I HAET running. Always have, always will.
Well, I don't mind it so much on a treadmill since it's pretty different and if no one is watching.

Get a good sports bra, or run shirtless... that would be hot.
>> Anonymous
>>195470
Under Armor. Seriously. It tames those tits right up. I had manboobs when I started working out and those shirts were my savior.
>> Anonymous
I have a collection of sports bras, they're OK. But not much can tame 38DD. And seriously, I goddamn hate running. Too much impact. I suppose I should point out my joints are pretty bad and my legs hurt easily. I'm already standing 7 hours a day at my job, I'd rather do exercise that lets me rest my feet every 10-20 minutes.

It'll take a LOT of convincing to get me to run. I hate running.
>> Anonymous
>>195484
You don't need to run, you can do other things.

But also know that the 'running damages your joints' thing is a MYTH. If you work into it properly, a slow progression with properly placed stretching and quality diet, runners actually tend to have healthier joints, thicker cartridge, and reduced cases of arthritis than non. If you get into it sloppy or injure yourself, then you gain nothing, or if you are really heavy its best to strengthen the connective tissues with elliptical or bicycle action prior to running . . . buuuut if you hate it and don't think you'll find the fucking awesomeness that eventually gets you addicted to running, , , , then use Curves. WW is a ripoff. Curves is physiologically more rational.

DON"T LOSE WEIGHT!
Killing those would make me cry.
>> Anonymous
>>195503
I can vouch for this by the way, I wasn't a fan of running at first, and I shunned it. But then I started running, 3-4 times a week, building up distance and endurance. Now I've a minor injury that I have to rest off for 2-3 weeks and it's destroying my soul not being able to run....
>> Anonymous
>>195507
Don't worry about it. 20 pounds ago I was a D cup and I somehow gained a cup when I lost the weight.
The only thing that actually changes is the number. I was a 40D and now I'm a 38DD. If I lost more, I'd be a 36DD or even E. I mean it comes down to how they measure it more than them actually changing size.
It's really confusing to explain. My breasts don't change size by my chest does, basically.

I've had them this big since long before I gained weight, they aren't going anywhere.
>> Anonymous
>>195539
You could explain with pictures.

Visual aids always help.
>> Anonymous
>>195540
well as the barrel chest recedes, the breasts protrude more, and thus the cup increases in size while the girth decreases.

OP likely has some minor hormonal issues that aren't any problem but create a tendency for breasts.

Yeah I had hormonal issues in the past. When I was 17 I randomly lost my period for 7 months and gained 30 pounds in that time. Took a medication, all went well but I still have that weight.
Then a few years later I tried birth control and it did the same goddamn thing. I've lost most of the weight from that since I stopped taking birth control.

OP: If you absolutely HAVE to pick one of those, go to curves. Weight watchers is such a retarded scam. Though, just because you're going to a gym doesn't mean you don't have to watch your diet. Losing weight it 2/3 diet, and 1/3 excersise.

>> Anonymous

>>195713
Oh, so you guys are psychologists? You think making fun of some one is actually some form of motivation?
I've got news for you. I'm not losing weight for you. I'm not working out so I can "fit in" better. I'm doing it for me. I already think I'm rather pretty even though I know I can look better. If I didn't feel this way, I would have resigned to be fat because I'd feel that's just how I am.
When you make some one feel insecure, you're DE-motivating them. You're not going to be there when I lose weight and you're not going to tell me how much better I look, so I have no reason to give a fuck what you think.
And another thing. Anyone who'd turn me down because I'm fat but would come running to me when I'm thinner is not the kind of person I ever want to be around. Nobody is perfect all the time in their life and treating people like shit is not acceptable.
I do realize this is 4chan and blatant trolling is to be expected, but you're simply a complete idiot if you think you're actually helping by being an asshole. Negative reinforcement does NOT work.
Sorry for the long rant, you're lucky I'm not more pissed, but I'm rather used to complete dumbfucks like you people.

actually i am a psychologist. and you're an angry fat bitch. and also a liar. if you 'naturally' lost 1lb a month then you wouldnt be 50lbs overweight and asking whether you should go for moronic option or slightly less moronic option.

how exactly are we 'lucky'? what are you going to do? eat us?

I USED to be 70 pounds overweight, so I know I've lost weight.
What did I say about being lucky?
And maybe I am an angry fat bitch, but if I was thin I'd be an angry thin bitch. Being fat makes you hate the world for rejecting you and it doesn't go away just from losing weight. You would know that if you knew a damn thing about psychology.

>>195754
Rage is an extreme de-motivator for me because I'm the type to hold it in and take it out on myself. If some one pisses me off by calling me fat I'll want to stay fat because if I got thin and they treated me nice I'd want to kill them for judging me like that. I don't want to hear people who insult me complimenting me. I'd rather not be around people who act like that at all.
It's kind of a problem in my life in general. Whenever some one insults my pride I'm more inclined to believe them and purposely make it more true than fight them. It's like by staying fat I'm telling you to go fuck yourself. I'd rather lose weight because I want to, not because you made me. It's kind of a control thing.

At some point you get sick to shit of it, and you snap, and use your rage to make yourself better. Stop making excuses. Start fixing yourself.
>> Anonymous
>>195794
yeah...alright...
but only because I'm too outnumbered here to actually get through to you guys, and my anger at all the assholes who discriminate against me is only making things worse.

You're posting on 4chan. What the fuck did you expect? E-hugs and "YOU CAN DO IT!" replys? You need to go to some touchy feely forum for you insecurities instead of the asshole of the internet, unless you want this kind of attention, fatty.

But if you really want sourceless, anonymous advice from internet superheros... you can just cut all sugars from your diet, drink water only, portion your foods, and walk/jog for 15-30 minutes every other day. You're paying weight watchers to do the exact same thing. If you're not motivated to work out on your own I doubt weight watchers or any of those programs will help you.

TLDR, kill yourself.

>>195803
you clearly haven't even read a thing I wrote. I already state that they HAVE helped me.
Really, I wasn't expecting support from 4chan. I was just trying to make a point that it's people like this who are making it even harder for me. The reason weight watchers actually worked for me was because of the emotional support. It wasn't a meeting of a bunch of assholes going "YOU'RE A DISGUSTING WHALE"
I mean there are people here who actually think in some way that HELPS. You people are so retarded you actually believe that you're HELPING. I wouldn't give a fuck if you attacked me out of outright hatred, but it's different if you are really stupid enough to believe you're doing me a favor.
So telling me to kill myself is fine, at least you don't actually believe that by saying this you're going to make me listen to you.

Like I said though, it doesn't matter. I've had enough of this thread. It was a goddamn simple question, any faith I had in people knowing what they're talking about here is completely gone.
