So, /fit/, fatfag here. I just went and jogged for the first time in probably two or three years and did 1/3 mile+ without much difficulty.

Is this shitty or pretty normal for a fatfag?

Also, should I break it up into two day intervals for now or go everyday?

Everyday. If you exhaust yourself then take a break.

Also, is it safe to continue working out through palpitations? I've always assumed not and just cut my workouts there.

You're fat, and you're having heart palpitations. I think that means you need to really think through the symptoms and what you were doing, and go see a doctor before you continue. Switch to walking until then.

They don't necessarily come when I exercise, though.

Although most of the times when they happen it's during more jarring activities. I know at least one major cause is improper hydration, but beyond that I can't really pinpoint why they happen during certain activities and not others.

I've also been to see a doctor, gone to see a cardiologist, done a stress ECG, echocardiogram (or whatever), and a Holter monitor.

None of those turned up anything abnormal, but they still happen.

depends on how fat you are

I'm pretty fat, like 6' and 220lbs. I haven't seen what my real bodyfat % is but on those measurement tests I end up at like 15% or so.

No, not really. I don't know what a reasonable starting point would be, and I just want to get an idea of my general fitness level, aside from "shitty."

Well, I went to a couple of sites, calculated your BMI, check out some fitness tests, tried to fill them in, and the results came out. According to 4/5 of the tests I tried, your overall fitness level was...shitty.

hurray, this confirms what I thought.

6' 220 isn't that much, 1/3 mile jog sucks in your case
if you were like 350 pounds it wouldn't have been so bad

and you're not 15% body fat
if you were 15% you wouldn't even look fat, not ripped but not fat (think football player or something)
you're more like 25% or 30%

I didn't figure it was right.

I could have done better, but I didn't want to push it since I have the heart thing.

530m? How ridiculous

I'm 6' 2" and 185lbs, and I'm not fat at all. You don't sound that fat. Work harder.

I am, but, like I said, it's been at least a few years since I've done any serious workouts.

Heart palpitations aren't necessarily bad, they can be just benign rhythms.
If you're asthmatic and take inhalers that will give you palpitations. Coffee/energy drinks, they will give you palpitations... there are many things that fuck with your heart beat that aren't that bad.

If you continue exercising your heart will get stronger and the palpitations might go.
Get plenty of sleep too.

Okay, you do realize that even elementary school children run a mile as a requirement for their graduation, right? Basically, all I can say is push yourself until you can barely move/breathe, and do it every day. Although, I don't know just how fat you are, but you should at least be able to get up to a mile or two. Just run every day, and push yourself a little further each time you do.
