what is /fit/'s opinion on pre-breakfast/pre-eating cardio?
>> Negro Sparkle Faggot
It's horrible don't do it.

You haven't ate in 6-8 hours, so your body is hungry. Then you workout. Yuck. You burn more muscle than fat.

Working out after not eating for so long WILL BUTN muscle. It also slows your metabolism.

Half the arguments in their were for running in the mourning which is something you can do after you eat.

Do you realize that the article is advising not to eat before or after a workout? Where is the calories needed to build muscle? NOWHERE. Instead of helping losing fat your body is using muscle to fuel your workout.

You should eat something slow digesting like cottage cheese right before bed.

I'm not going to argue this. If you want to run while fasting I can't stop you.

Eating a small, low carb breakfast is so much better for you than fasting.

Also, if you are running for fat loss shouldn't you be doing HIIT?

i don't need fat loss, and I don't need to gain weight. I'm around 6'2" 165-168#. I could use some fat loss, but I don't need to take drastic measures towards fasting or even worry about caloric restriction, I eat when I want to eat and eat always paleo foods, the fat will come off in time.

I just posted that for people who need to lose fat, mainly people with body fat % over 20%, and those who want to get under 10%. insulin and cortisol are probably the two most important hormones to control if you want good fat loss, but people think just caloric restriction will make them lose fat, sure it will but eventually you're going to have to do more than just cut back on calories

Fasted cardio is perfect for fat loss and doesn't burn muscle UNLESS you go at a crazy intensity or overtrain (60+ mins of cardio).... for 45-60 mins it's perfect. No glycogen to burn off before hitting the fat.
>>470893
No you shouldn't, it's a simple carb/protein with sugar and fat in it. During the day, in your first 3 meals, fucking excellent. At the end of the day you should be eating more fibrous carbs (green veggies) and protein.

>Early morning fasted cardio: A simple method to increase the fat burning effects of
your cardio by up to 300%

Any time of day that suits your schedule is a good time for cardio. The important
thing is that you just do it. However, many bodybuilders and fitness models believe that
early morning fasted cardio burns more body fat. Although this is still controversial, the
evidence is strong and there are many reasons to consider doing cardio first thing in the
morning on an empty stomach. The argument in favor of fasted early morning cardio goes
something like this:

1. After an overnight 8-12 hour fast, your body's stores of glycogen are depleted and you
burn more fat when glycogen is low.

2. Eating causes a release of insulin. Insulin interferes with the mobilization of body fat.
Less insulin is present in the morning; so more body fat is burned when cardio is done in
the morning.

3. There is less carbohydrate (glucose) in the bloodstream when you wake up after an
overnight fast. With less glucose available, you burn more fat.

4. If you eat immediately before a workout, you have to burn off what you just ate first
before tapping into stored body fat (and insulin is elevated after a meal.)

5. When you do cardio in the morning, your metabolism stays elevated for a period of
time after the workout is over. If you do cardio in the evening, you burn calories during
the session, but you fail to take advantage of the "afterburn" effect because your
metabolic rate drops dramatically as soon as you go to sleep.

OP here: wish I had more of the girl but i didn't save them all when they were linked to me.

I have my other high school goddess here.

I used to run in the morning pre-breakfast for about 45 minutes at 60% MHR then followed it with oats. I was able to build a fair amount of strength whilst doing this and cut about 10kg of fat. So i'm a bit skeptical about it eating at my muscle, but all valid opinions are taken on board.

Once again, you won't go catabolic (the state in which your body saves fat and breaks down muscle instead) unless you go at a crazy high intensity or you run for 80 minutes, anything over 45-60 mins depending on what you're doing can be counterproductive for cardio, especially if it's fasted.

Ran 50 minutes four times a week at 6 am for nearly 2 years when I was younger. All I had before doing so was black coffee and istanga yoga. I was healthy, fit, the lightest I've ever weighed and my legs and heart attained a high and lasting level of stamina that I still have. My run would burn off my glycogen and some fat and trained the muscles I wanted trained. I advise you to do it.

THIS THREAD RELEVANT TO MAH INTERESTS:

I was just reading this yesterday actually... What does fit have to say:

http://www.bikeradar.com/road/fitness/article/training-running-on-empty-18071

From article:

'“Improved glycogen signalling can boost two out of the three: VO2 max and lactate threshold.”

This would be interesting but not practically useful were it not for one crucial point, the scientists showed our signalling function can be improved by training when glycogen stores are low, which is a radical break from conventional wisdom. '

Jesus fuck what's wrong with you people?

Cardio in the morning DOES NOT BURN MUSCLE.

I've been running 60 minutes every morning as soon as i wake up for about 4 years now, it has never been a hindrance on my training when I'm either bulking or cutting.

Any trainer or amateur bodybuilder will tell you the same thing.

>>470985
Yeah. Make sure you hold it in too.
>PROTIP: You will die of toxic water levels and nothing of value will be lost.

I would eat first and exercise second. The body needs energy for stuff like that.
I'd be more motivated, too, which also helps to make it count. Otherwise I'd just want to get it over with.
>> Anonymous
>>470985
Are you serious?

It's generally recommended to normal people to drink three litres a DAY. If you're a very sportsy person, you'll undoubtedly need some more than that, but three litres an hour is absurd.

enjoy reduced performance and vomiting.

plus, in a situation like that your body would decide to burn food not fat reserves.
