Hey guys, just a simple question.
I'm at around 143lbs and i'm aiming to gain some more weight(of course mainly muscle) to around 155lbs.
I'm not doing excessive weightlifting and stuff but alot of bodyweight exercises situps/pushups and so on.

Now the question: since my metabolim seems to be kind of fast it's really hard for me to gain any weight even though i'm trying to get enough to eat.
Do you think protein supplements make sense for someone like me, who isn't into weightlifting alot?
(I heard i would need high protein, high calorie, low sugar protein powder for building up musclemass, but what does high protein/low sugar mean in milligrams?=
>> SQUATS
You dont need supplements as you aren't weight lifting hard.

Pushups and situps are really easy you wont gain much if any muscle mass doing them.

so, if i want to gain some weight i'm forced to go lifting and do teh squatz?

get a casein based protein drink like muscle milk and drink it once during the day IN ADDITION to your meals and before bed.

if you get muscle milk don't use 2 scoops at once like it says though. just one.

this should work, even if i don't lift excessively?

Pretty much, your gain some muscle in your arms and chest by doing press-ups but not alot.

Try doing http://hundredpushups.com/

Oh and doing 1000s of situps wont give you a sixpack

If you don't want to go to the gym you could always buy the equipment and use it at home. A barbbell, squatrack, bench press set me back £275 (550$) could of cost left if I got it second hand.

you want to gain 12 pounds of muscle while doing bodyweight exercises sorry dude not gonna work i doubt you ill even gain a pound of muscle

If you're not into weightlifting a lot, drinking protein isn't going to grow you muscles. Protein supplements are purely taken because they absorb quickly after lifting when they are the most necessary. If you just want to gain some weight (mostly being fat), just eat some excess calories.

Everyone in this thread is a retard but I don't have time to counterpoint them

You can gain lots of muscle with bodyweight exercises.

Pushups should be on an incline and with a backpack with a weight (like flour or sand) in it, pullups should be normal or wearing the same backpack if you can manage. Do crunches on an decline. Body weight squats holding a bag of flour or sound, same with lunges and so forth.

Most of this thread is retarded. The armed forces having been using bodyweight for years with good results, as have gymnists and martial artists

Most of you have only ever done stronglifts or a lifting program, and not a serious bodyweight program. Stop talking about shit you don't know, it just creates more useless noise and "Fitness" tips

not op, do bicycle crunches build more muscle than regular ones?

op here, just wanting to say i'm still watching the thread + thanks for your posts.
i'm still waiting for some wore oppinions (also about y/n to bodyweight exercises) and, if it is even possible on 4chan a consensus :D

Bicycle crunches are one of the most effective ab workouts around.

stop talking out of your ass, I've been in the armed forces and pushups don't do shit, it's just a disciple/punishment routine

Muscle Milk is overpriced shit. Go save some cash, get some rice protein and eat shit loads of grilled chicken. If you work out a bunch you get to pig out on shit like chicken, vegetables, fruits and bread without having to worry about being a fatty. AND get some muscles.

You couldn't be more wrong. Pushups & pullups are fantastic for building upper body strength. You should be doing squats and deadlifts anyways, but they are both a great addition to any exercise regimen.

I concur with this completely. One of my coworkers is doing crossfit, which is all (afaik) body weight exercises. It's based on the training for the rings, which you see gymnasts do in the olympic games.

So here's a question: How many of those guys do you see, who are puny? Not many, that's for sure. And they mostly only train with their own body weight.

crossfit fags dont even look in shape unless they are females. without increasing resistance your body will not produce more muscle, especially in a hardgainer's case. this dude needs to be doing squats, deads, bench, rows to work as much as he can while taking in a lot of calories. it's true gymnasts have great lean bodies, but this dude isnt a gymnast, which would take more work than going to the fucking gym
