fats, good, bad, in between? RSI guy !HjbWRiSTJ.
ok, i'm confused as fuck about all the kinds of fats (lipids otherwise). i'm clearly for sure, ? omega 3 is good, ? omega 6 is good, and at the opposite end of the spectrum, transfats are clearly always bad.

in the murky *gray area middle ground*, i heard **some** monounsaturates and polyunsaturates are necessary for the body, but too much of it either fucks yo up. too much one way, heart attacks go up statistically. too much the other way some other crazy shit happens.

can anons set me straight? I want to buy some EFA, I ran out, but i'm worried about that unclear stuff. and google appears to show me that "monosaturates" exists somewhat, well, fuck. nm.

Nuts, and the avocado are good, but use sparingly. And I like to get nuts unsalted also.

Well I'll just have to add pic not really related then. I just didn't want attach a retarded hamburger, fries, and cookies picture, this seemed best I could find.

Fats are fine, they're just another source of calories. The fact that they're twice as dense as carbs and that the saturated kind clog your arteries is what makes them bad.

Eat unsaturated fat (like what you find in red meat) and you're good to go, generally.

i guess it's really important to keep polys and monos cold, and in the dark. so why the heck do i see omega-3 everywhere on shelves at room temperature. wtf it becomes rancid and as bad as trans...

a lot of the research you read about fats and oils is pure bullshit because there are a lot of economic interests at stake. for instance about five years ago canadaistan and amerikkkan soybean producers got together to have the WHO put together a piece of slander, which was distributed disguised as important research, against their enemy coconut oil...

anything you read is twisted by the economic interests of people other than yourself. i like olive oil because humans have been consuming it for 10000+ years so i figure evolution is at work to olive oil's advantage

omega3 is a polyunsaturated fat, so yeah pretty much.

no, not really. saturated fat is also essential to good health. once again, excess is bad.

>>Eat unsaturated fat (like what you find in red meat) and you're good to go, generally.

um, what? you need saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat for optimum health. unsaturated fats are either poly or mono. meat contains both saturated and unsaturated fats.

the fats that need to be avoided at all costs are trans and hydrogenated.

ya! i heard about the brouhaha i've got some coconut oil to fry with if I absolutely have to (as a stable fat, doesn't become breakdown when heated, thus wreaking less havoc on the system). but i use it rarely, like once a month for a meal or something. usually i'm baking.

oh yeah the both omegas are polys, well, i guess ?3 and ?6 are "good", up to a point, and now i'm using the correct symbol: ?. so much stuff to keep straight.

any other thoughts? i guess that just leaves monos.

monounsaturated fats are found in olive oil, avocados and nuts.

with omega3 and 6, it is the ratio of one to the other that is important. can't remember the exact reason. generally, omega6 is still found in most meats, whereas omega3 is not due to feed monocultures. can't remember the exact ratio either.

tnation has a lot of info on this. go and check the site out.

i will definitely check t-nation.com out, but soon i sleep. I just hope I won't get buried in an overwhelming avalanche of failing to absorb all the information. thx.

how low fat does anon think is necessary?
