So I think I may have Avoidant Personality Disorder and I want to go to therapy for it.

My question is for the people that have been diagnosed with APD, how did you finally decide/get the courage to get help?

It may feel like you have a "disorder", but you really don't. You have the power to do whatever you feel that you're avoiding.

Although, therapy never hurt anyone. It can be a very good way for you to receive incite or just to talk about a problem.

But remember, you have the power take control of yourself.

Slow steps. If you're patient and dedicated it will come. If you don't like dedication, wait until your suffering is so intense that you contemplate suicide. You'll have 50% chance of recovery.

They have all sorts of names for emotional conditions that everyone at some point experiences. The difference is, attaching a name to it allows you to use it as a crutch.

Stop using it as a crutch. You don't have a disorder.
