Would dumbbell squats have the same effect and work out all your muscles as opposed to barbell squats or whatnot?

I only have dumbells. :(

Also, excercies i could do using them preferably to gain mass.

DB squats can be pretty useful, especially the one-legged type. You'll miss out on the benefits that come with moving big weight, but it's much better than nothing.

what about big dumbbells? I don't have room in my tiny room for a barbell and set of plates really, but I'd be willing to get a hugeass dumbbell or two, like 60-80 lbs. (hate respining every weight every set)

No such thing. Muscle gain comes from working your muscles to failure, not XBOX HUEG weights.

That's what I do. Use one big one for wide stance squats, switch to two for lunges, and boom, you've just put your quadriceps and hamstrings through the equivalent of a squat workout.

Just try it a couple times. If you feel it's not working, then invest in a squat rack.
