Male6'0"Weight: 155Body Fat: 8%How do I bulk up and stay @ 155 for MMA / wrestling / Muay Thai / BJJ competitions?Picture is very relevant
You don't
Correction:I meant bulk up and still stay in the weight range off 160-165
Anal Rape solves all your problem, now bend over and take it like a bitch.
Very low BF %, pure strength training.
>>320952Thanks for the advice. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was going to start a weight lifting / power training regime with my friend in about a week. My friend has more strength but more fat to loose to we both have something to gain.
i'm 6'2" 160 lbs and I've been doing metcon/strength training with barbells and such, I lost about 12 pounds (originally from 172) but also gained enormous strength at the same time. I say do stuff like they do at www.gymjones.com, www.crossfit.com, and www.mtnathlete.com or if you want more strength for your buck then www.performancemenu,com
>>321016www.performancemenu.com keeps freezing up my Firefox 3.0;www.gymjones.com is very simple and informativewww.crossfit.com once again is very informative. I am very surprised that Nike hasn't bought that URL for selling their shoes yet.I at one point a couple months ago considered kettle ball training. What is /fit/'s opinion of ketteball training? I know Fedor used kettle balls to develop massive core strength.
i use kettlebells from time to time using those sites as guides. (though mostly I go 2 days whatever www.mtnathelete.com posts and then 1 day of strength (either 5 sets of 5 reps or 5 sets of 10 reps) and endurance (40+ minutes on rower or airdyne) and then 1 day off)kettlebells helped me with my olympic lifts, and really helped me with core strength from doing turkish get-ups and goblet squats and also half moons
Fedor is amazing
>>320837Eat a lot, preferably protein.Lots of "good" fatty foods.About every two hours a day, eat something. Small snacks though. Like in the morning I eat dried fruit in some oatmeal. Then I'll have some vegetables (bean sprouts and potatoes). Then a roasted chicken sandwhich with slices of tomato, then fruit (I prefer apples and oranges but sometimes throw kiwi in there), then pasta, and finally I'll probably have some vegetable soup.At this point if you already train like a madman, eat like one.
If you're gonna bulk up to a weight class to wrestle/fight in, you may want to bulk up about 5-10 pounds higher than that weight class. While wrestling, I would naturally weight 150 and during the week I would cut water weight and whatever weight I could lose to get back down to 140 to wrestle. I would gain the weight back over the next 3 days. I don't recommend it as a weight loss program, but just about everyone did it in wrestling.
>>320837no offense but uhh if you don't know how to bulk up I suggest you not to do competitions and I bet you don't know anything about MMA, wrestling, MT or BJJ.
>>320837Same problem here, but with judo. I found that calisthenics were the best for me (one arm pushups, frogleaps in stairs, pistol squats, dragon flags, pull-ups, and so on), with a strict control on my diet.
>>320837all 155er's cut from 170s, except really talented people like bj who walks at 155 or 170 depending on his cardio training, and someone like kid yamamoto who fights at 155 even though he walks around at low 140sso dicknerd- gain 20 pounds
