Hi /fit/ I went on my normal 3 mile run today but my left ankle started hurting so I ended up cutting it short to about 2 miles.

could anyone tell me some ankle strengthening tips so this doesn't occur agian? Or any running tips in general to keep from ankle strain? thanks.

Just run through it. It's not severe damage. Bones get slight splinters and fractures on them, just like your muscles get tiny rips and tears when you work them. It's all a part of a bigger circle that just results in stronger bones.

If you were able to keep running on it without excruciating pain, it's fine. If you couldn't keep pressure on it without nearly crying, it's sprained or broken.

I would and I have in the past. But I see running as aerobic endurance not physical. So I'm not into running on a soar ankle.

I have a similar problem like OP, went to the doc yesterday and he said something like it's because running is movement in 2 actions and that the leg muscle (see pic) isn't trained enough because of that.

He said I should ride more bicycle
