This shits always on /b/. I want to know once and for all is it better for your health to be a vegan or not. And I want to hear it from someone who isn't a vegan or a conservative asshole.
>> Anonymous
No, it is worse. Keep eating them good meats!
>> Anonymous
Could be. There's some evidence that eating a vegan diet might extend your life by a couple years by minimizing oxidants.

Alternatively: fuck that animal products are delicious.
>> Anonymous
I read it might depend on your genetics. People with Indian (as in the country), Asian, or middle eastern genes thrive on vegan diets as their ancestors had been pretty much eating vegan for thousands of years. Whites, and Africans are more accustomed to mixed diets. And super whites like Scandinavians are best suited to eating fish.

It might explain why some people do well on a vegan diet, while others are sickly skinny with a highly anemic yellowish complexion.

In the most extreme case, the Eskimo do best on an almost entirely carnivorous diet, since in the arctic there is no chance to farm plants.

Why the fuck aren't doctors looking into this. God dammit.

chances are you are best off eating mostly protein and vegetable matter, but avoiding carbohydrates almost altogether. This is because humans have been eating grains for only the past couple of thousand years and haven't had time to adapt
>> Anonymous
>>372745

They are.

Except the only reason to look into this is because you're being paid by someone who wants a specific result to come out of your testing so it kind of fucks with the whole accuracy thing.
>> Anonymous
>>372748
That doesn't make sense then why are grains on the bottom of the food pyramid.
>> Anonymous
Most meat: High in protein, but also in fat.

If you're getting enough protein through supplements and other sources, then you're getting enough protein without the fat.
>> Anonymous
>>372756

Not all fat is bad, dumbass, it's quite necessary for muscle growth
>> Anonymous
What about vitamin b12. Lets see you guys talk your way out of that one.

>>372757
Except the majority of fat that comes from animal fats is bad for you.

grains are the easiest type of calories to produce (i.e. grow fields of grass) however farming is a relatively new technology. Humans evolved eating meat, fruit and vegetables: rabbit, deer, berries, roots, fish, etc. It's true that we can eat grass seed once we grind it up and cook it (bread) but we haven't been tailor made for it, which might be one of the reasons that we have problems with it.
also, we developed in an environment of scarcity and the massive quantities of carbs available at low cost can be too many calories - we eat too much because food is cheap
so yeah, grain is a double-edged sword
>> Anonymous
It depends on what "vegan" actually means. If it means eating a balanced diet that includes lots of vegetables and proper protein supplementation then yeah, that's better for you than eating fucking carl's jr. If it means eating cereal and soy milk vs. eating clean and eating meat, then no, that's not really good for you.

tl;dr - Vegetables are good for you, cutting out animal products is not.

I love watching meat eaters make up bullshit about veganism being unhealthy just so they can justify murdering other sentient beings simply because they taste good. Rock on, thread.

>>372882
lol.... vegan troll.
>> Anonymous
>>372882
Yes be sentient means self-awareness, which all animals but chimpanzees do not demonstrate.

Besides meat is damn tasty murder. Lets face it, the only reason cows exist is because we eat them. One could argue that their natural life cycle is end up being eaten by humans, since farm cows don't exist in the wild.

so called 'morality' of killing animals has nothing to do w/the health (or lack thereof) of the 2 diet types asked by the OP

keep your faggy pseudo religious beliefs to yourself

tl dr: do what i do, become a carnivorous vegetarian.
>> Anonymous
There are healthy meat eaters, and healthy vegans... Vegans need to get their vitamins from other forms besides meat though (supplements). Either way, one does not live longer than the other. I think its easier to just eat meat...
>> Anonymous
>>372918
Your faith has been lost.

BTW to the actual topic, its possible to be vegan and bodybuild. You just have to pick and match food carefully as no one plant has all the essential amino acids, unlike just about all meats. I'd actually imagine vegan bodybuilder need alot of prepared plant protien based protein shakes.

I eat everything. I'm going to assume that being a vegan is healthier than being omnivorous because of some trivial fact I learned in biology:

consider this: an algae cell eats four tidbits of toxin. not very deadly.
a plankton cell eats four algae cells. 16 bits of toxin.
a crab eats four plankton cells. a fish eats four crabs... you see where this goes.

Everything is good when in balance. Meat eating/hunting is what allowed for our large brains due to getting extra protein. I say eat meat, vegans tend to also have iron issue.

I retract my previous statement. Eat what the fuck you want. There is no definitive answer for the OP's question.

This is probably the most accurate answer you'll find.

Also, eating a natural, varied diet is best for netting as many different essential vitamins and minerals.
