5x5 stronglifts Anonymous
So I looked up stronglifts 5x5 program and WTF guys? Do I have to do 3 sets of push-ups until failure about 2 times a week? That's like 50-70 reps, doesn't sound good. Is there a version for more advanced lifters or something?

Incline push-ups? Hand stand push-ups?

or you could just do starting strength

Protip: You're not advanced. You're just a stupid noob

My starting strength workout is this.

Squat 5x5
Bench 5x5
Deadlift 1x5
Overhead Press 5x5
Pull-Ups/Chin-Ups (Alternate)- 3xF

I do this every other day, three days a week and I increase weights every time. Also, keep in mind you need to do warm-up reps. Look into that as well. The 1st week of stronglifts I was not doing warm-up reps and I was wondering why it would make me do so little deadlifts.

This thread is not about Jolteon

Download the eBook. It says, once you can do 15 or more pushups on the first set, then make them harder (i.e. use a resistance band, put on a weight vest, do incline pushups, etc.)

I can bench 95 kg, squat 120 kg and deadlift 170kg and I weight 75 kg. I would say it's somewhat advanced. I've been doing lifting for 2 years with crappy bb programs they've given me from the gym, so I thought I should finally read into it. But yeah, it depends what your standards are. I bet you lift twice your bodyweight on all lifts.

Ok, thank you. I'll check that out.

You're an intermediate.

Max or training weights? Either way, your squat is terrible.

1x body weight squat is beginner goal
1.5x body weight squat is intermediate goal
more than is advanced goal (smolov e.t.c)

Bench and deadlift are my maxes. I would like to say the squat isn't, since I have knee problems and can't really push myself to do a proper one rep max. But yeah, let's say that's my max.

Consult these charts for strength standards

OP is still an intermediate, squat is still terrible, but bench and DL are pushing advanced.

Thanks, I've been looking for a site like that. Hopefully I'll fix my squat on 5x5, haha.

Anyway, is it a bad idea to do a bit of isolation exercises in addition to the program? Nothing excessive, like adding a few sets of arm work once a week or something like that.

I know I'll get flamed by the purists, but yeah, go for some curlz if you want AFTER your main lifting efforts
