Hey /fit/, I'm new here (not 4chan, but to /fit/).

I'm a little out of shape (5 ft 7", 440Ibs, no kidding), I've tried everything to lose weight, but it just isn't happening for me. I've already tried cutting my calories to 4000 per day for around a week, but it didn't yield much of an improvement. For 3 days of the week I've even cut fast food completely, and I've switched from regular soda to diet, yet I'm STILL not noticing any improvement. I'm 18, and it really sucks when you need your mom to wipe your ass, and you have an invisible dick. But I realized enough was fucking enough, when the other day I needed 3 of my close family members to help pull me up from the ground after I attempted pushups. Laugh and mock all you want, I'm just hoping somewhere along the line I'll get some decent advice.

Please help me /fit/, life is a nightmare.....

Until you learn to eat STRICTLY HEALTHY FOODS, don't ask me for help. Clean up your diet and limit yourself to 2000-2500 calories a day, and do some jogging or walking for at least 30-60 minutes a day.

I'm still in shock that at 440lbs, you're eating fast food, and you think that 4000 calories is a small amount.

People have actually given the right information...for the most part.
Cut out the soda and fast food, BUT, lower your calories over time, don't be eating 4000+ calories a day and then just try to eat 2500 a day.
Walk for that 30-60 minutes a day, making sure you're out of breath for a lot of it, and with this, add a lot of water to your diet...passing out would be bad, and discouraging. If you can't really lose your breath walking, then start jogging slow. Even just jogging at walking speed is more taxing than just walking.

tl;dr
Water, whole grains, other healthy food in general, exercise, get down to 2500 calories a day. The exercise doesn't have to kill you, but if it's not hard then it's not helping.

Here's some serious advice. No more soda, period. That shit's terrible for you. Start drinking water, eat healthy. Oatmeal, Egg whites, whole wheat bread + whole wheat pasta, natural peanut butter is great just don't go overboard, fruits and veggies, chicken, turkey, tuna. Start walking, just walking. You need to cut calories and walk until you get down to a healthier weight. I wouldn't worry about lifting weights until you get your weight under control because at that size you are basically killing yourself. Main thing to do is stick to your diet, easiest way to do that is to not have tempting things around the house. Get rid of all the unhealthy shit in your house and good luck. Stay motivated.

Seriously consider surgery, OP. And if you're too fat to go under anesthetic (which you probably are), all you can do is eat more healthily. And if you do ever drop down to a reasonable weight, you may want to get plastic surgery due to all the loose skin you'll have, if it bothers you. start slow and build up, go for a walk every day until you build up a sweat. get that heart rate up for 10 minutes a day at first. maybe after 2 weeks go up to 15 minutes a day, and when you feel like you can handle it go for 30.

it's important to push yourself, but you dont want to burn out after a week.

The liver has a switch in it to burn carbs or fat. Carbs by day, fat at night. Sleeping sets the switch to 'fat', so get more sleep. Starving the liver of carbs forces the switch to 'fat' even when you're awake, and you lose weight. This is called keytosis, and the byproducts, keytones, smell like nailpolish remover (in your breath and sweat). If you smell like model airplane glue, you're doing it right.

Keytosis is fast, you'll see some progress in 2 weeks and your gut will feel strange. Walk a little everyday (don't kill yourself) and drink a lot of cold water to help #1 and #2 pass easily.

Actually, diet sodas are fine and yes, they do have about 1 calorie per can. The problem is that you need to get off of soda completely. If you stay on diet soda, happen to find yourself craving a soda one day yet unable to get a diet, you WILL get a regular soda and likely go on a binge. Multitudes of studies have shown that for most obese individuals, diet sodas actually increase the cravings for regular sodas. So it's just best to get off of them completely. You may think you have the willpower, but you don't. Your diet has made that quite clear.

It's probably going to be harder/just as hard to keep doing as it was for me to stick with CC and track. They hurt like shit, and I never seemed to get anywhere. But you could lose 100 lbs relatively quickly if you work hard.

Losing weight is simple, and it's not complicated. Your body will lose the weight so long as you give it the need to. Running might be hard for you so go walking at least an hour a day. I know, I know you're worried about what people might think of you or what an attractive young lady might revile in you, but this is about you. Not about them.

You have to do all that is necessary. You don't do anything necessary at all. Your health is your responsibility given to you at birth. Your parents don't want you to leave the house that's why they over feed you. They treat you like a dog. You are a dog, you are an animal, but not in that sense. Alright fatass, assuming you aren't a troll, I was in somewhat a similar situation, at 323 lbs and 21 years of age, I decided that was it, I was going to change my life. I weigh 194 lbs after a YEAR of busting my ass off ever day and watching what I ate. I started slow. I wasn't a big fan of soda to begin with, so I had an easy time drinking my water. The biggest thing was, I usually went to the buffet at least three times a week with my friend. I decided to stop talking to him, and it was quite possible the best decision I've ever done. I began to eat healthy, eating about 3000 calories a day, eating a SHIT LOAD of fruit, and a moderate amount of veggies and meat, no sugar EVAR@ at about 270ish I started doing cardio, 5 days a week. That was probably the toughest thing to get used to. I am happy with the life. I am currently in my first relationship (ever), and had sex for the first time just last month.

Hey OP, sorry if this is repetitive but you've got so many shitty responses I gave up trying to skim them all. 4chan isn't exactly the best place to seek advice but as you can see a few decent people actually try to help.

the very first thing you really need to do is see a doctor and get a professional assessment. A doc will be able to provide you with what your options are, exactly - he/she may say diet and exercise over time or they might say surgery- I'm not in the medical field so I prefer not to try and give advice - I've also never been extremely overweight so I really can't relate from personal experience and I doubt most people who responded can, hence they may be trying their best but their advice may be invalid. I do agree that you've gotten yourself into a fragile state and hence it would be best for a doc to assess how to handle the situation, because you certainly don't want to end up giving yourself a heart attack trying to do a couple pushups (though I really do applaud you for trying). I can at least say, in agreement with others, that the fast food needs to be completely removed from your diet - I eat fast food max once a month to give you a comparison, if that. My guess would be that you eat large portions, so I'd recommend trying to replace the content of those portions with healthier but still tasty substitutes. (diet soda is also a joke and will not help you, sorry)

(continued) The key to success is no doubt moderation and thus you could probably allow yourself a couple sodas and such until you can wean yourself off - perhaps ask your family to help you create some kind of weekly limit for most foods. I can tell you from personal experience that once you're off fast food and a lot of the processed sweets and such (even soda) for about a year or so you don't go back - to me a lot of stuff I used to find "good" now tastes terrible. (I'm not a vegetarian or something but I do come from a fairly healthy household as far as food is concerned, and my mom tries to keep everything whole wheat and organic when possible). The hardest part but most effective will be cleaning up your diet. Like others have said NO FUCKING SODA OR FASTFOOD FFS IS IT THAT HARD. Start eating good foods, and from that slowly lower your calories over time.

I think you should ignore most of the bullshit here. AFAICT most /fit/tards haven't got experience with going from 440+ lbs -> 150 lbs.

If you are serious about this, then it'll be a multi-year project (think 3 years if you don't want liver, kidney, heart, or metabolism problems).

If you have money, say $1000-2000/year ignore all the advice here and contact John Beradi.

If you don't have money, get John Beradi's book Precision Nutrition.

Exercise: Increase exercise capacity continiously and progressively. The only way you hit 440 is by sitting on your arse.

From this point on, you no longer drink sodas, sugary fruit drinks, or alcohol, or coffee. You now only drink water and unsweetened tea.

From this point on, you no longer eat white bread, ever.

From this point on, you no longer eat any pork product or processed meat, ever.

Form this point on you no longer eat any other fat/sugar combo candy crap snacks at all.

From this point on, you avoid fatty add-ons like cheese and sour cream and mayo. Lean meat already has enough fat in it.

Food is now on there for one purpose, to feed you protein and good carbs as efficiently as possible. You do not care about how it tastes, if it has the nutrition you need, its fucking delicious.

-Buy cans of chicken breast, and frozen boneless/skinless chicken breasts, eat one a day somehow no matter what.

-Buy eggs, boil them, peel them, and put them in the fridge.

-Buy cottage cheese. Learn to like it with berries in it.

-Buy beans, learn how to cook and eat them every day.

-Buy bananas and toilet paper

-Buy oatmeal, one flavored instant, and one big tub of the boring unflavored. Mix them half and half every morning for breakfast with a boiled egg and a banana a multivitamin and a glass of milk. This is more important than any other meal. You fucking eat it and love it.

Eat 5 meals a day. Never get hungry, never get full. Get some carbs and protein a couple of hours before your workout, and take some more protein and carbs within 30 minutes after.

I hope your still here. I'm 6'4", 351lbs down from 380lbs, and still loosing. It's been a slow and hard weight loss, but here's what worked for me...

Obviously only diet soda.

Count your calories... no "estimating", measure shit out and count them. You can look up calories online, or buy a calorie book. I find microwave meals make life easier, 'cause they have the calories on them and you don't have to figure everything out.

Track everything you eat, and your weight. I use thedailyplate.com - it's free and works well for me.

I never exercised before, but my Dr. got me into it. She told me to exercise EVERY DAY. Start exercising for 5 mins a day. But do it every day. After a week, make it 10 mins. A week later, 15 mins... and so on and so on, until you're doing an hour a day. Exercising can probably be quick walking for you... you want your heart rate around 140-150bpm. If you have access to an exercise bike, use it, it's easier and still gets your heart rate up.

Limit your calories to 2500 a day. This is the hardest part. I'm not full when I do this. You can eat anything you want, as long as it doesn't total more than 2500. You'll find you start eating healthier, because you get to eat more when you do so. A big salad with like dressing may only be 500 calories, and can really fill you up.

I hope this helps op. I've been fat most my life, and it's slow to turn things around, but this should help. Exercise every day, it's only 5 mins, and it helps get you into a routine.
