Hey /fit/,

I gained a bit of weight recently and shows that it shows most on my back. I know cardio will help lose the fat, but what are some good exercises that can help tone my back?

Also, what helps to get rid of that bit of fat on the back of your arms? I'd rather not have anything hang down if I lift my arms.

lat pull down. though if you're a girl, ill be honest: dont make your back muscley.

you cant really spot reduce, but to tone under your arms do tricep excercises, like a dumbell tricep extention.

Yes, I know that lifting weights is part of getting fit. And yes, I will lift weights. But I do agree with some of the guys in here that say women should look like women.

I don't want to get JACKED, just toned. I'll lift weights for strength, not necessarily large muscles.

if you go in with the goal of just looking "toned" you goal is going to be much harder to reach than if you bring a sufficient level of intensity. don't be afraid of the super heavy weights, you aren't going to change overnight, not even in a year. you will just become "toned" faster.

heres another tip. a small muscle has very little potential of becoming strong, whereas a big one does.

for all those 145lb anorexics just looking to get "strong" and "toned" the little amount of muscle you carry is limiting you from becoming strong. and i guarantee you, a 145lb kid who has maxed his strength potential is still gonna get pwned by the slightly chubby 190lb dude

you can have muscle, or no muscle
fat, or no fat.

tone is just a bit of muscle and low fat.

wouldn't you want that bit of muscle to be super strong? lift heavy weights.

lifting makes you strong, eating makes you big. eat a normal amount of food and you wont get huege. lift heavy weights and you will get strong, fit, and have a fast metabolism.

some people want to get all huge and ripped, their goal is say 300ft away

you want to look firm petite and toned. your goal is 25 ft away.

the people looking ot get super strong have to make leaps if they ever want to reach their goal.

whereas not lifting heavy, not trying, using machines, crunches etc, is akin to shuffling your feet to reach your goal, when you could be there in 3 or 4 leaps.
