Pull ups Anonymous
Is there a way I can imitate pull-ups without a pull-up bar?
I'd like to imitate the exercise for the normal front and wide grip behind the neck pull ups. I'd like to be able to do it in my apartment. I'm trying my best to find a way that does not make me put anything on the walls or door frames.

My apartment is in Japan, so door frames are sliding door and the walls are wafer thin.
So are there any alternatives I can do in my place?

thanks

Or go to a playground and find some nice bar.

1.) find a tree.
2.) hold onto suitable branch
3.) pull
4.) repeat 9001 times
5.) PROFIT

I think the following exercise may be a proper substitute although I'm not entirely sure.

To set up the exercise, you need to 1) find a wall, and 2) position yourself into a handstand with your feet resting gently against the wall. In order to position your feet against the wall, you may need to bend your knees slightly.

Now, a repetition of this exercise itself consists of lowering yourself, and then pushing yourself back up via your arms (the same way you'd do a push-up).

That's it.

This was shown to me by a friend I used to work out with.

That's more like military press or regular pushups than pull-ups..

i'm not meaning to sound like a dick but i think your handstand press would be a better shoulder workout than a back workout. it's a good idea, i have nothing to suggest for indoor pull ups with no bar. sorry.

Do pullups on your door frame. It should hold you, unless you're fat.
