So what is a complex lift and why is it important?

Also, is a compound lift the same thing or is it different? If different, wtf is it?

Thank you

same thing. they are just exercises that use multiple large groups of muscles to complete a lift.

example: compound/complex lift - squats. they use quads, glutes and hamstrings to lift, lats, erector spinae and abdominus rectus to stabilize the weight (that's why squats give you goods abs and a solid back).

the opposite is an isolation exercise: curls : works biceps only. and if you cheat on curls (if you keep your elbow locked and don't bring the weight completely back down) you only hit one of the two bicep heads.

actually
a complex is a series of movements done with no rest. its kind of like HIIT for weights or crossfit style. great for losing weight and increasing endurance.
eg;

65lbs barbell:
barbell row
deadlift
power clean
frontsquat
pushpress
backsquat
press from behind neck

thats one rep of each done in a non stop fashion
rest 60 seconds and repeat

get your breathing really hard and keeps you anabolic due to the weightlifting nature of it. imo best way to burn fat
