what does /fit/ think about jogging downhill?

I kinda feel like a cheater when I choose a few paths downhill but man does it make some of the exhaustion go away.

Is it recommended? Or is walking for a minute or two much better?

I hate downhill because if I want to go fast, I have to be cautious and slow the fuck down! RAAAGE

It is good for short sections of a longer route. It works the quadriceps femoris, the 3 muscles that make up the bulk of the front of the thigh. Too much downhill defeats the purpose of the workout, but the effort of maintaining the regular pace will work these muscles.

It puts more pressure on the joints if i'm not mistaken so i'd suggest not doing it for long periods.

running up hills works endurance, running down hills helps to increase speed

A hilly area is great for HIIT. On days I can't go to the gym, I sprint as fast as I can uphill around my neighborhood which lasts for about 25-30 seconds depending on how exhausted I am, and I jog downhill and to the next hill, which is another 25-30 seconds.
