false. Come on man, what are you thinking? The real impact of your punch should come from the knuckles, which are aligned with your wrist and arm to provide density. Most people already have a grip that sufficiently strong, and the majority of your punching power comes from your lower body and your ability to coordinate a full body contraction from your feet up and through your arms.

Having a strong grip isn't going to make you hit any harder, but grip training strengthens your forearms and wrists, which will obviously make you hit harder; and I guess in theory it could add a tiny bit of muscle mass to your hands.

If you want to punch harder, work on your back, shoulders, and hips. Grip training should really be a secondary concern; unless you grapple.

Well Pulver apparently focuses a lot on grip strength and his punches are fucking brutal. Albeit, he was also a professional boxer.
