I was wondering if anyone had advice on getting rid of the dreaded muffin top? I can't afford a gym membership so I use the gym at college for about an hour twice a week, mostly on the treadmill and cross-trainer. I've been trying since summer to get fitter and dropped 2 clothes sizes between good eating and exercise. However, these little pockets of... yuck, won't go away, is there anyway to get rid of them?

Okay, firstly, I'm Dutch.
Secondly, I drink hardly anything but water and fruit juice. I have cereal for breakfast, a roll with salad and an apple for lunch and a dinner of either white meat or fish with 3 types of vegetable. I have a take away once a month and maybe a packet of crisps a week.
Oh, and I'm a size 8-10 in UK sizes, don't know american ones.

building muscle burns fat. you might want to add some oblique workouts to your routine.

do situps to spot reduce the fat. it worked for me.

I'll give that a try, thanks.
I heard that situps can help in some respects, but haven't had any success with them, is this a myth or am I just unlucky?

My diet isn't out of vanity, it is genuinely the amount that keeps me full. My dinners are big if that helps...?

no no, make your meals smaller and eat more of them. if that's the amount that keeps you full, then aim for the same amount of overall food, but in more meals.

No such thing as spot reducing.

that doesnt work

situps increase muscle mass thus it holds the belly better,

i.e. moar muscle = more hold = less muffin top.

I am not in the mood to explain, bleh.

ditch some of the cardio in your routine, seriously, muscle training burns more calories then cardio ever will, just because your a girl dont be afraid of the weights ok?

I find punching exercises help to work those muscles, which should tone down the are. It's not spot reducing, more like strengthening the muscles.

OP, I commend you for wanting to continue to lose weight. But seriously, guys dig a chick with something to grab onto. It feels much better, I know I don't want to bang my hips into a rail. You knew that this post would turn into something about sex.

You perhaps have lost your water weight by now. Yes fat will be harder to lose...

Go to the gym more than twice a week. Go 6 times a week.

Figure out your microcycles and write it down, and follow it.

Take all the food you eat in a day and divide it into 6 meals instead of three. Or eat every two hours.

Instant fix: buy longer shirts and higher-waisted pants. At least until you lose enough weight to be able to show off your belly.
Srsly, if you don't got it don't flaunt it.
