sup /fit/

I need to lose a lot of fat, I'm 6'1" and about 330lb. I'm sure my problem is not at all uncommon here, but I need any advice I can get. Right now I try to go for a walk at least once a day, and I do my best to eat healthy meals, but I feel like I'm doing it wrong.
I'm really desperate for help with this, all the extra weight on me makes everyday life a bit more difficult than it needs to be and I feel bad when I have to take breaks in the middle of doing something. I also know all that extra weight is bad for my body and I've already been told I'll be dead by 40 if I don't do something. I'm not looking to become super-thin, I'd be perfectly happy just being somewhere below 250lb. So, does anyone have any recommendations? I'm willing to do anything, I'm too afraid to even look for a job because I don't want to have to quit because my body can't handle a simple workday. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Start by getting a job where you move around all day. I am sure you can handle it. You are the way you are because of laziness and fear. Either get the fuck over it, or an hero.

And lurk moar.

That's it? Just get a job that keeps me active? What if no such job is available in my area?
Also, what does lurking have to do with fat loss?

You want a lower goal then that. I when from 320 to 250 and i was still gross, I only now know how gross i must have looked before. Now I am at 215 AND I AM STILL kinda gross and i only have 15% body fat.

Wait, I know there's a gas station hiring about 1km away, there's not much moving around involved but would the walk both ways each day be enough? Or do I really need a highly active job?

I'm not worried about how I look, anything would be an improvement over the vast doughy blob attached to my torso.

Aim for 150 pounds. Sorry to say but you are simply not dedicated enough. Even at 6'0 and 170 i used to feel gross. Now im 145 and muscular enough around 4 or 5% bodyfat. It feels good knowing you look hot in girl pants

Seriously? 150 seems a bit low to me, but I guess I need to change the way I think before I can get anywhere, correct?

jesus christ you guys are being assholes. just give him some advice.

The most important thing is diet. Don't starve yourself. Replace all the crap with plenty of veggies, whole grains, lean protein, fruit, and some good fats (e.g. cook with olive oil, snack on a handful of nuts if you need to).

Dont fall prey to fad diets.

Drink fucktons of water.

Exercise is probably really difficult for you atm, so just focus on what you eat for now. If you do it right, the fat (as well as some muscle, but thats ok for now) should start to noticably reduce within 2 months.

Summer's almost here (unless you're austrian, but how cold does it even get down there anyway?), so you should start to feel better and more active. So exercise if you feel up to it. If you cant jog, take a long walk. If you're eating right, you should automatically begin to feel good more often anyway.

Thanks for the advice, I know the most difficult part is going to be changing how I eat. I'm not too worried about losing muscle, I can always build it back later right?

Pretty much covered it all...
For the people saying shoot for 150...you have to set small goals for yourself and go for that, then set new goals.
I would diet/exercise as much as you comfortably can for 2-3 weeks, then try to find a job where you're active. You'll be feeling much better and you'll know what you can and can't do.

Alright, so diet, exercise, and a job that will keep me active. What I need is a job rounding up grocery carts at the mall. Thanks for all the advice /fit/, I think I have an idea of what I'm doing now.

but remember, exercise will be difficult for you atm. If you feel you're not up to it, then dont despair, just focus on your diet. make sure youre eating fewer calories than your body is using, but not too drastically. maybe by 300-500 calories a day? Use this:

as a guide. Good luck.
