Overtraining(1): Training too much in a relatively short period of time without adequate rest, resulting in fatigue, tiredness, soreness.
Overtraining(2): Muscle overload theory, focusing on a specific muscle group with intense exercises, up to two times a day for 4 days in a week in an attempt to damage muscle tissue and incur quick growth.
There is no "over training" that takes months and months.
The real definition of "overtraining" is the first one. The second definition is just what some people call muscle overload theory.
