Dear /fit/, I'm sure you may have been asked before but what exactly is responsible for the asymmetrical abs so many men, myself included, seem to have? Some men have 5 or 7 packs, some have 6 packs with one side of 3 slightly higher up than the other. I can understand slight asymmetry, but why some people would appear to have an "odd number of abs" confuses me.

Pic related, and I'm sorry if this is a pretty stupid question as I'm reletively new to anything related to body building.

It's just genetic luck.

It's purely genetic? In a way I'm glad because that means I'm not doing stuff wrong. I half thought I was doing crunches slightly to the side or something, but that's quite reassuring. Thanks for the answer.

Yes, yes he does. It's not me, by the way, although I also probably do need slightly bigger pecs.
