I'm fairly new to /fit/ and I keep on hearing to do squats for every single little problem. Seems to be a meme around here. The times that the posts do seem serious, I'm not exactly sure what it's meant by a squat. Do you guys mean just regular old squats using nothing but your body, or an exercise that requires weights/equipment?

serious answer You get stronger with more weight. That means a barbell, with plates on it. This awesome picture is just showing you the perfect form is all.

20 kg, as said before, but even if it was 25 kg, that's not a world record. Not sure where you heard this.
