Well, long story short, I have horrible stretch marks on my biceps. I'm not (that) fat(6'5, fluctuating from 230-240 lbs.) so I don't believe fat is the source, but rather the fact that I used to visit the gym on a daily basis, and I never stretched, ever. I've heard that can take a rough toll on your skin elasticity.

Anybody have any pointers to getting rid of, or preventing these bastards?

They go away and I don't think its based on stretching but rather diet. There is a certain vitamin that helps with elasticity, don't remember which it is.

Stretch marks are scar tissue formed from when parts of the skin are literally ripped apart. The red "bruising" is when the blood rushes to fill the rip, and the white is the scar tissue that forms in the area. It basically happens when the growth of your muscles or flesh is beyond the elasticity of your skin - most likely candidates are puberty and pregnancy.

There is no way to get rid of stretch marks once it occurs, though tanning tends to fade them a bit.

Pregnant women are told to massage their belly with cocoa butter every day to keep the skin supple and prevent stretch marks. As for whether this works - I don't know, knock some chick up for SCIENCE!!!

...So, who wants to smell like delicious chocklit in the gym?

I guess time will have to work as a cure, then.

RetinA

I have the same thing in the same spot, its likely from growing and not fat.

Retin A might help to burn off that top layer and smooth it a bit, but they are not going to go away.

No, that is where you are wrong. If you catch it in time, they go down 90-99%. Whatever, this board is full of retards, no point arguing.

post a picture so we can judge if you're "not that fat" and how "terrible" the stretch marks really are
