Cycling, the best form of fitness. Does anyone of you actually just drive for fun?

Cycling seems like the nerdiest sport to me. I think swimming is the best form of fitness

Nerdy? the Incredible pace, awesome views, and infinite roads ahead. Easy, fun and fast.

No, I don't know what you mean.

I enjoy cycling. I cycle to the GYM and back home, everywhere where I can and have the place to put my bike when being absent, I'm going with it. I really enjoy the speed on decline roads, and of course the pace when driving an incline road back up. :)

Cycling is too easy I think; too much coasting and too efficient.

Go up a hill.

What goes up must come down....

Go up another hill.

don't think, do. Then speak an opinion.

Don't like it. Used it as an achiev-o-metre, being able to do a bastardly hilly 30km route in under an hour and a half was a big thing for me. Other than that, I'd rather run, inside or out.

I race bike regularly. It's great except for the danger of being run over by cars. Love the technology too.

CYCLING IS FOR FAGS

Touche.
>>239944
I work up much more of a sweat jogging than I do cycling.
>> Anonymous
>>239966
That's because of the wind factor. You are going so fast on a bike that you can't really sweat compared to the much slower pace of jogging. When the wind hits your sweat, it evaporates and cools you off. Try wearing a backpack with a couple water bottles in there next time. You'll feel the amount of sweat when you take it off.

I will try going for a bike ride and report back on my progress.

On the flip side, try biking up a steep hill in calm weather with the sun out. I did that up a huge 8 km hill in hot summer weather once and was essentially drenched by the time I reached the top.

Don't think that biking doesn't make you sweat, that shit is killer.

NO! Cycling is not the best form of fitness. Cycling is zero impact on the joints, so it does nothing to promote bone density, and strength.
>>239917And the same for swimming.
>> Anonymous
>>239991
Depends on what you define as best. In this case I'd say swimming and cylcing are the best for excellent cardio, muscle maintenance, and not wearing your joints down from years of bashing them together.

And if you train both intensively you can certainly build muscle with a bike and with swimming, though of course not nearly as much as with dedicated weightlifting or something like that.

I ride my bike everywhere since I don't own a car (or have a license for that matter). I don't care about the weather, I've been cycling in 1/2 foot snow before. On an average day I'll be cycling about 15-20 km.

I sweat very easily though so I always cycle at minimum intensity if I'm going somewhere where I shouldn't look like I just went swimming. On my way home I always push myself though.

So I went for a bike ride, it was okay. According to google maps I did about eight miles, didn't sit down the whole time, I like to cycle standing up. Mostly feel it in my lower back.

Then try a bike that won't let you coast or get off the granny gear. If you coast or outspin your cranks then you fail at gear shifting.

about how much should a bike weigh? I've been getting pretty sore and tired from my rides and my bike is about 30lb.

I'm in exactly the same situation, though I'll switch to walking if the snow is too deep to get traction. Life is good. Fuck cars.

Who the fuck cares? It's not like you're going to do CURLZ with it or join the tour de faggotry any day soon

I just don't like getting passed by leotard wearing faggots on 2lb bikes who hardly have to work while I'm sweating up a storm. Sometimes they even talk to me as they drive by

>>241021
You'll be in better shape. If you want big balls try bike touring. You need a moderately heavy bike AND whatever you pack on to be self sufficient.
>> Anonymous
Cycling makes you repeat the same motion for hours, wich is physicly unrealistic, as we were made to adapt to use a wide range of motion.

Also, most people sit when biking. That desactivates muscles and makes you relax.

No i think the best form of fitness is chasing after a lion then eating it.
>> The Judge
>>241067
Wait, YOU chase after the LION?

Holy hell, I've been doing it wrong...
>> Anonymous
>>241073
the amount of win required to do that is off the chart. i'd recommend starting by running after cats then eating them, as a beginner. then work your way up to german sheperds.
>> Anonymous
>>241067

actually it would more of him chasing you to eat you.

it would be the best form of fitness none the less

This is perfect. In addition, eating a protein rich lion after such an intense workout does away with the need for shakes. You'll actually save some money this way.

lol i know a guy who was training for a cycling competition, he hit a small crack went over then handlebars and shattered screwed his shoulder, he has just had it reconstructed
