You can lose weight without cardio, no problem. Weight Lifting is actually better for fat loss than cardio is.
1. Building muscle consumes more calories, so even if you ate the same, but had more muscle, you would be storing less calories as fat. 2. Resistance training increases your metabolic rate for an hour or more after you finish training. Cardios fat burning effects stop immediately (5-15 minutes).
From my own personal experience, I lost 40lbs from nothing more than eating well and doing resistance training 3-6 times a week with heavy weights. I did NO dedicated cardio, no biking, running, etc. I did play Volleyball twice a week and do Tae Kwon Do twice a week, but Volleyball wasnt very intense.
I'd say I lost the 40lbs in about 4 months. I also increased my strength, improved my appearance, gained muscle, made my arms, chest, and thighs bigger, and I felt better than I had in like at least 4 years.
Diet was lots of veggies, tuna, chicken. I ate Subway a lot for lunch (was in college at the time and we had one on campus).
