I just ate this.

Now I knew it was a bad idea but whatever.
How bad of an idea was it?

I was also thinking, there's pretty much nothing in my house I can eat without cooking that isn't awful for me.

so /fit/ I guess I'm looking for fast things I can eat that aren't too bad for me.

My current diet is pretty much just me watching calories (I get between 1000 and 1500 a day)

I have no clue what I'm doing.

You will die tonight.

Do not worry though. It will be a painless end as long as you are asleep.

my metabolism was fucked a long time ago...

So what should I be doing?
since I started eating 1000 to 1500 calories a day, I've lost 40 pounds

What are the nutrition values of that? I didn't think ravioli is so bad... at least the ones I regularly get only contain like 80 cal, 18 gram carbs and 1g of fat per 100 grams. I eat those a lot and am not gaining any weight.

unless youre 13 and 100 pounds, 1000 calories are in NO way helping you, depends on your age, build and weight, look it up, there are tables out there where you can find your daily calorie intake, in my case, 1.78 ms 80 kgs, i should be eating around 1800 every day just to keep my body working.

About the boyardee, you can eat ANYTHING you want, yes even those big macs and those pepperonni pizza, its just that you shouldnt eat it that frequently, meaning, maybe 1 big mac every month or 1 full pizza every month and a half, and the most important thing, COMPLIMENT WHATEVER YOU EAT WITH EXERCISE, that way youll get to 70 and still be able to do normal tasks and have few to none diseases.

It's impossible to lose only muscle. He probably lost 5 pounds of muscle and 35 pounds of fat. Your body will always maintain a decent amount of muscle provided you aren't dead. Your body doesn't instinctively burn muscle as energy, that's the biggest myth. Your body does everything it can to KEEP muscle, it will ALWAYS burn more fat than muscle even if you're completely starving. It's only going to strictly burn muscle if you have a drastically low amount of body fat. The thing with fat people is 9 times out of 10 they never had much muscle to start with, so they lose weight and get to like 180 pounds and they're still fat looking, not because they lost too much muscle, but because the muscle never existed in any amounts more than standard needs.

Besides, even if he did lose a lot of muscle, he'll wind up losing all his fat eventually and just be skinny. Some people just want to lose weight and not become ultra ripped, ever think of that?

You'd need to consider his height, weight and bone density before making such claims. Small people, SURPRISE, don't need to be eating 2000+ calories a day unless they work out a lot. Smaller bodies require less calories and you also need to take into account hormone levels. Men with more testosterone need more calories.

That's why all these diets and shit recommend you go to a physician and get tests done before embarking on weight loss. Everyone has very different needs.

Actually, working out too much is going to produce the same problems. Ever seen how terrible retired athletes get once they start pushing 50 or 60? Their joints are shot, all their muscle goes away and they have loose skin and they're at much higher risk for bone diseases because they put their bodies through too much stress during their young years.

Needs moar balance. Look to Jack Lalane for how to stay in proper shape your entire life.

true, however, i doubt hes going to be an athelete, also, the exercise MOST people do are the same old jogging and maybe weight training, with that in mind, there is NO other way to stay fit your whole life than with exercise.

for exercise, I've been jumping rope for 45 minutes every other day, doing 50 crunches a night, and walking about 2 hours every 2 days.

I decided I'ma talk to my doctor about losing weight as soon as I get back on health insurance (about 60 days)

yeh, plus i doubt anyone would choose losing muscle and looking like a skinny wimp fuck over having a balanced diet and looking fit and/or buff

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/

ANYBODY THAT WANTS TO DIET IN ANYWAY ON /FIT/ NEEDS TO GO HERE BEFORE I RAGE TO DEATH.

To lose weight, eat 500 Cal less than what you calculate. To gain, 500 Cal more.

Cals should come from
20%protein (less should be ok if you don't lift, which I REALLY doubt you do)
20%-30% fat
the rest comes from carbs

1g of protein = 4Cal
1g of carbs = 4 Cal
1g of fat = 9 Cal

If you really want to diet, look at the grams of protein, fat, and carbs and do the math in your head before you stuff something down your gullet.
