Sugars & alcohol will make depression worse. Alcohol will help to lower inhibitions for a short time but tend to make depression worse once it wears off.

Proper nutrition, exercise are the best for long term.

also after some time when you start to transform your body you will become more self confident and that will help with the social anxiety..

I know this because i am like a see/saw when it comes to gaining fat and being in shape, and when i am overweight I get depressed and feel withdrawn socially, but when i get back in shape those feelings are not present..

im currently about half way to reaching my target bf% and already feel a ton better..

The outside world cannot be sold. Just go out to a club or something and meet people. Have a laugh.
Drug stores can help, if you have acne or whatever, but they can't do the whole job. Some effort is required.
