training is all about stimulating muscle. the actual process of workout out doesn't do shit to the size of your muscle or its strength (except in the case of pumps, but that's just a temporary increase in size, it means nothing.) training causes microtrauma to your muscles, higher levels of cortisol, and increased catabolism (as opposed to anabolism, building muscle.) all increases in size and strength occurs on rest days. resting is just as important as training, period.
