doc gave me zoloft for anxiety today. bottle says not to drink.

Should I get drunk and abuse my benzos one last time before i start taking it? or it it safe to do whilst on zoloft.

I find it odd that he gave you zoloft for anxiety. Zoloft is usually for depression and it has some harsh side-effects. Just my opinion, btw. I heard that the number of docs prescribing Z is diminishing in favor of more accurate meds with lesser side-effects.

Drink up before you start your meds.

You might still be able to fap, but it won't be as enjoyable. It will be harder to get hard, and it will be harder to stay hard. You will feel like a eunuch, especially around hot women.

But you won't be depressed!

Now i'm depressed :[

You shouldn't take zoloft.

Your doc only gave it to you because s/he gets kick-backs from presciption companies.

Think about it, you were prescribed something for a psychological disorder (something you will have to take for the rest of your life) by someone who has no background in pyschotherapy.

I took it for 2 weeks and realized after 7 years of anti-depressants that they weren't doing anything for me except dulling my emotions. Self-reliance is the only thing that will help me socialize

i was on zoloft for 3 years

did every single drug while taking it

its fine dont worry

you might be less horny and it'll take long for you to cum, it wont be bad enough to stop taking it

and yeah thats about all anti-depressants do, now i actually have to deal with being human since i been off them

shit only works while you take it, doesn't actually fix anything

You shouldn't take zoloft. You should take any kind of SSRI. They have a 51% success rate, and a ridiculous host of nasty side effects if you stop taking it, whether or not it's helping you. It's essentially the perfect drug from the point of view of a pharmaceutical company. It's prescribed to everyone for any kind of psych problem, it's not classically addictive but you do go through bad withdrawals if you stop taking it.

You're supposedly correcting a chemical imbalance in your brain without any kind of test to make sure there even is an imbalance, and without any kind of way to monitor levels of the chemical during treatment to make sure you're getting an accurate dose to correct it.

Do the research yourself. Don't take that shit.

I honestly don't want to have to force my self to seem not not nervous in social situations. I can but it's fucking tiring. Consciously monitoring body language, making sure I hide all my habits. it's honestly a shitty quality of life. I've been doing this for 2 years and it sucks balls. i just want a drug that relieves it.

>Consciously monitoring body language, making sure I hide all my habits.

Cut that shit out. If you're nervous, who gives a fuck. Act nervous until you're comfortable. Acting how you feel will actually make you more comfortable. You don't need drugs and you sure as fuck don't need or want SSRIs.

That's because they are insecure with themselves. You twitch and gibber all you want, unless you are being obnoxiously loud no one gives a fuck. Take your magic pill and it will all go away, right? You've been tested with expensive neurological graphs and it's obvious you have a chemical imbalance, right? Be honest with yourself: you are anxious because you eat/drink shit all the time and sleep like a fucking retard or some other...whatever it is, you don't take care of yourself and you know it. And now you are on 4chan asking if you should drink alcohol with your powerful depressant because you are too afraid to grow up. How about take a long look in the mirror instead, alcoholic fucktard?

So stop taking shit from people. Listen, I'm not going to tell you how to be. Do whatever you want, I don't give a shit.

So get into physical fights and go to jail for assault? Sounds better than taking a pill doesn't it. No one takes someone who seems nervous seriously verbally.

Again, I don't give a shit. If you think popping zoloft every day for the rest of your life is a better alternative to telling a couple of guys to fuck off, then knock yourself out, champ.

I went to prison for two years for breaking a beer bottle over a skinheads face in a bar.

Fuck you and your shitty advice. Getting in fights is retarded. OP seems like the nervous type, and would get raped in prison.

Was the beer bottle your fist? No? Then you should learn how to fucking read and stop assaulting people with deadly weapons, moron.

I was on Zoloft and several other SSRIs for a while.
They made me about 10 times more depressed and anxious than I was before I went on them, but after a few of them, the withdrawal wasn't even noticable.

Actually... when I first took Zoloft, it had almost no effect on my and I had a horrible withdrawal, and every SSRI I've taken since then has made me feel worse when I was on it and better when I stopped taking it.

When I went on Lexapro, I had almost no withdrawal when I went off it and it made me feel like shit when I was on it.

This might be semi-off topic but pull up a chair.. I've got a life story for you..

About a year ago I was booted out of home because I wasn't working (I lost my job because I was too anxious to go to work..). So I moved interstate with my girlfriend.

Being my first time living out of home and so far away from my family, it royally fucked me up. I became a nervous wreck. I was suffering from anxiety and panic attacks to the point I couldn't do anything but freak out and cry, other than when I was vomitting.

After about a week I decided I couldn't handle it anymore so I went and saw a doc, he prescribed a half dose(25mg) of Zoloft a day and after a couple of days I was already feeling a shitload better! The only side effects i suffered were nausea and taking a wee longer to orgasm during a fap session / sex.

My only complaint about it is the withdrawals if you come off it too quick. I ran out before I could get more prescribed and for a few days I suffered headaches, nausea, a strange 'zapping' sensation inside my head.. and nightmares(may sound strange but it is a confirmed effect).

Also, alcohol seems to have a greater effect, so getting boozed up is cheaper.

TL;DR - Shit seems to work well, for me at least. Good luck Anon, I hope it helps.

This. Those kickbacks are real. Doctors are paid to push this shit. I don't care how much you trust your doctor, know that this shit really happens and unless your doctor is a psychologist who has talked with you at length about the stuff you're going through, take their advice with a hearty grain of salt or at least get a second opinion.

ALSO THIS, HOLY SHIT.

SSRIs WILL fuck your shit up. They are not good for the human body. Read up on them, please. And watch this:

continued

I sought help for depression/anxiety/OCD earlier this year for the very first time. My GP prescribed Zoloft, and it did make a difference in my behavior and thoughts. But less than a week into it, I realized that I couldn't orgasm while masturbating. I'm a girl, and after the first week, I had lost all sexual sensation in my clitoral nerves and had absolutely no libido,. When I'd try to masturbate, touching my most sensitive spots was like touching my knee caps-- no reaction. I read up on Zoloft and SSRIs and stuff like the above video scared the fucking hell out of me.

I went back to my doctor and she encouraged me to stick with it and ignore the sexual sideffects (wtf?), but I demanded a different med.

She started me on Wellbutrin. It's effective for me as an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication and I've actually noticed and increase in my sexual sensitivity (and my libido SCHLICKSCHLICKSCHLICK).

I also chose to start therapy. I've been skeptical of it my entire life, but by God, it's really making a difference. And it's wonderful.

If you choose to continue taking Zoloft or any other SSRI, do take care to monitor yourself. Any changes in your body, waste, mood, skin, etc. should be brought to your doc's attention immediately.

You traded an SSRI for an SNRI. Enjoy your placebo/side effects/everything you just raged about.

>>367640
No offense, but maybe you should read up a bit more about SNRIs.

Taken straight from wikipedia:
"Because one of the actions of the SNRIs is to block the reuptake of serotonin as the SSRIs do, it has many of the same side effects. The most common include nausea, drowsiness, headache, changes in appetite, vivid dreams, and sexual side effects. There are two common sexual side effects: diminished interest in sex (libido) and difficulty reaching climax (orgasm)."
>If you choose to continue taking Zoloft or any other SSRI, do take care to monitor yourself. Any changes in your body, waste, mood, skin, etc. should be brought to your doc's attention immediately.

^ Good advice.

Well, for whatever reason, I'm not noticing the negative side effects that Zolof was giving me while I've been on Wellbutrin. Much of this has to do with the individual body that's taking the medication. Wellbutrin works for me. Zoloft works for a co-worker. My greatest fear while on Zoloft was the possibility of the sexual side effects being ever lasting, and I don't have to worry about that on this medicine.
