How does /fit/ feel about soda?

I'm a college student and usually get a 20oz bottle from the vending machine every morning, for the caffeine. I'm not a big coffee fan (aside from the occasional frozen drink from Starbucks). And I drink tea any chance I get. I usually nurse the soda bottle throughout the day, usually not even finishing it all. Otherwise I drink good ol' water with everything.

Water only.

Sleep earlier so you don't need the "energy".

Well, discounting the pure sugar water that you're consuming, if drinking it over the span of the day, I hope that you chew sugar-free gum...soda is horrible for your teeth (the sugar contained gets converted to acid by bacteria naturally occurring in your mouth, plus the soda contains other acids on top of that). If you do stretch it out over the span of a day and feel that you need it for the caffeine content, try drinking it through a straw to cut down how much of it stays in your mouth/contacts your teeth.

Breaking that addiction was one of the hardest things I ever did. A devil's drink.

I hate to be this type of guy but jesus fucking christ just stop drinking it. You'll be tired for a couple days but then your system will return to normal.

Honestly, it's easier to stop drinking soda than it is to start drinking water.

I find it quite easy to stop drinking it actually. I worked at a place next to a gas station and they gave us free soda from the fountain. I had like 64 oz a day. Then I just quit it. I have it every now and then though. Just to have something fizzy if it's all that there is.

If you need energy, eat a breakfast rich in protein calories (read: EGGS), and follow up with a cup of tea wo/ sugar or cream. I prefer green or english breakfast tea.

I REQUIRE 3 hours to be functional, 5 hours to be cognitive, and 7 hours to be in a good mood. You're probably different. I always aim for 6 hours of sleep, but you should always go to bed at the same time.

yeah i love soda but i drink at most is like a can a week on average. I remember when i seriously quit drinking, i lost a shitload of weight.

yeah i need like 2 to be functional, 3-4 to be cognitive, and 7 to be superman. but its not just how many hours but when you sleep.

sleeping at 12pm and waking up at 5 is like twice better than sleeping at 2 and waking up at 10.So sleeping earlier will do wonders for energy.

Pros: You can drink it instead of OPs stuff
Cons: Tastes like piss

This dude is retarded. Coke zero > any other coke

I used to drink a can/bottle of soda nearly every day, and now that's dropped down to a can a week. I haven't noticed any kind of changes in my health.

True, except for the cancer.

Just wait, they'll find that splenda causes it soon enough.

Er so I have been drinking green tea as an alternative to soda, but I fucking take a look on the back of this thing and see;
702kj
41g sugar
25mg sodium
Then I take a look at the back of a coke bottle;
693kj
41g sugar
39mg sodium
Wtf am I missing?

I would think caffeine has something to do with it... but I'm stumped.

Get real green tea that you brew yourself, not the bottled shit that is loaded with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial colors and flavors. If you want it iced, brew a whole pitcher of it and refrigerate it. If you want it sweetened, decide what you want to put in it instead of having a bottler decide for you.

I can't stand soda. I drank it a couple times to try it when I was a kid, but it really hurt my mouth. I tried it again a couple months ago, and my mouth was just as sensitive as ever to the carbonation. I'll never be able to make myself drink soda. I much prefer the taste of milk anyway.

Nice for a treat, but useless calories nonetheless. I'd rather eat a bit of ice cream instead.

>/fit/'s opinion of Vitamin Water?
Stop drinking shit. Vitamin Water is just an excuse for people without a taste for water to act like they're drinking healthily. Drink real water.

Food is about the only thing you should be consuming that has a taste to it (excluding tea)

Instead of pop, I drink self mixed Gatorade now. I always add more powder so it tastes sweet.

still has lots of sugar.

From a sugar/calorie aspect, that is just as bad if not worse for you. Gatorade isn't some fucking magical health drink, it's sugar water with salt in it. It's good for keeping you active during extended periods of high activity (though there are better options) but it's just as bad as soda if you're just drinking it throughout a normal day.

Soda is so damn awful. It's much easier and cheaper to just drink water.
As far as OP goes, if you buy 1 bottle in the morning, nurse it all day and don't finish it... you aren't really getting a caffeine boost in the morning. Why bother?
