Should I make any changes to my workout routine? I am 5'8" and 162 lbs, mainly I want to lose about 20 lbs while gaining muscle.

I alternate between cardio and lifting days, and I take a break one day a week. For cardio days, I simply spend an hour on a stationary bike.

For lifting days, I spend 30 mins on the stationary bike. Then I do two sets of ten of each of these:

Lat pulldowns
Chest press machine
Pec fly machine
Dumbbell shoulder press
Tricep extension machine
Preacher curls

Your posterior chain isn't getting its fair share. I'd add in more running, deadlifts, and squatz. HIIT is superior for losing weight quicker than long mundane cardio sessions.

I hurt my knee from running last year, now when I run more than a half mile I get a sharp knee pain that lasts for a day or two. I don't know how great squats and deadlifts would be for a gimp knee but I would like to learn more lower body exercises..

If you hurt your knee, the best bet for a cardio workout would be an elliptical, followed by ski machines, cycling, then running. If your knee is that really banged, I suggest air squats for now and light deadlifts every once in a while. Lunges and step-ups would also be good.

I tore the lateral menisci in my right knee 3 years ago, and doing the air squats was very therapeutic. The only time it hurts is when I do something stupid and not biomechanically correct. Remember, TECHNIQUE IS PARAMOUNT. If it hurts, you're probably doing it wrong.

Stop using machines and do less cardio if you want to put on muscle.

I definitely need to do cardio, my resting heart rate is obscenely high and I also have high blood pressure. At 24 years old that's really bad heh.
