Ok, I hate the idea of Jogging. Running around with no other reason but to end up back where you started is almost as dumb as NASCAR.

But disregarding that, I am currently 5'6, roughly 200 pounds. I've got a belly and love handles, and very little definition (sorta average with extra pounds).

My neighborhood is a bunch of perfect long oval/rectangular blocks, of the usual size.

Let's say I want to do laps: how many blocks do I run around, or, how many minutes of jogging?

As for my diet, it's currently the following:

1. Random. I eat at nice places sometimes, greasy food maybe once or twice a week just out of convenience.

2. I've cut Soda out of my diet. I either drink iced tea or Water. Soda happens only when there's nothing else to drink.

3. My food budget per week is like, $50 (that's assuming i can save cash from eating at home.

Not a bad idea. But how long should I go for?

Your neighborhood flat? An hour of biking every day will do it.

Aim for 30 minutes minimum of cardio.

Iced tea isn't much better than soda unless it's unsweetened.

How is jogging a bad idea if it gets you healthier? Tip: It isn't, and don't come in here with that attitude.

Also, jog until you can't anymore. No, not the first time you overheat and have to walk. Maybe after the 4th time or something. Then walk another lap around.

It honestly depends on how in shape you are, we know your stats but that really doesn't say how long you can jog. Only you can find that out. Once you find your maximum work something around that.

I hate the idea of people jogging just to counteract their bad eating or just to meet some fictional goal of excercise. Make yourself better and better and weight loss will come with it.

Do your max amount of pushups and make pyramids(google) around that, etc.

Yeah, no hills or anything.

An hour though? Damn...I should set up a destination or something. Gotta think of what would take an hour to get there and back on bike...or split it up into two half hour sessions.

no exercise in this world is going to help if your diet is crap

Look at a map of your area, go ride at the speed comfortable for you and time it with a watch. Find out your speed and then calculate an hours worth of distance to the radius and see what's close?

Running at slow jog is about 12 minutes a mile. So you might wanna start there and work your way up to 2 miles.

Alright, understood. How good/bad would you rate those Starbucks "Fruit and Cheese" plates that they sell?

Contains: Grapes, raisin bread, slice of cheddar, wedge of Brie, and apple slices.

OP, you need to start with your diet. What kind of iced tea do you drink? If it's like Nestea, don't drink it because that stuff has a lot of sugar in it. Just stick with water, and if you can manage buying tea bags - get those too. When you buy food, split it up into 4 sections - the meat/protein, fruits, vegetables, and bread/carbs. Then just look for cheap, but good food to get with your $50.

As for exercise, you can powerwalk for 45-60 min if you don't want to jog. Biking is good, too.

I drink iced black, green, or passion teas from Starbucks (work there, so free), and if at a restraunt, i get their basic "brown" tea of blandness. (Bad for me, but I use 2 sweet and lows. too used to it)

I'm trying to find a way to standardize the food i eat at home in order to save money and get healthier. It's hard, because my little brother and sister are buzzards who'll tear through anything in the fridge. heh

Okay well how "fit" are you in the first place? Figure out what your target heart rate should be (when doing cardio you want to be at target heart rate for at least 30 mins)...the faster you hit target the more out of shape you are. Secondly, while working out if you start breathing so hard you can't talk then you need to slow down. Lastly, consider weather conditions where you live vs commitment...harder to justify not working out on indoor equipment when the weather is bad vs when it's cold/snowing/raining/etc.
