Pushups/Crunches build muscle strength, they do very little in the way of general fitness/fatburning/cardio.
Go on a low sugar/fat diet. This = breads, fruits, vegetables. It sucks lol but works well. Try to avoid larger amounts of protein for now as well, as when your body's done burning carbohydrates, it'll burn protein, but mostly fat first... so not too big a deal.
You need to go for runs/bikes dude =/ its the only way to burn fat. Rowing machines are great too, anything which activates all the muscles in your body, and gets you out of breath will do it.
