Few questions, /fit/.

1. With pull-ups, should I do them with my hand gripping the bar so that my palms face me, or that they face away? Is either way preferable?

2. Sit-ups - I'm beginning to find the regular sit up (lying on flat ground, knees bent, lift upper body to about perpindicular to the ground) too easy, can someone describe a more intense form for me to try?

3. Push ups - How far apart should I have my hands? Should my body be arched or dipping down at all or should it be as straight as possible?

Thanks

1. Palms facing away.
2. If you have the possibility, decline situps. If not, you can try just holding a weight to your chest, slowing down the eccentrics, lift your feet off the floor and out in front of you...
3. Body should be as straight as possibly. Hand position would depend on your goal abit, but the usual is just slightly wider than shoulder width, and just below shoulder height.

1. Palms facing you places more emphasis on the biceps. Palms facing away places more emphasis on your back.

2. Crunches?

3. As straight as possible.

Pull-ups are palms facing away. Chin-ups are palm facing you (and are much easier since it adds you biceps to the mix)

Palms facing away and a wide range between your hands is a proper Pull-up form.

Hands closer together, palms facing yourself is the form for a normal chin-up.

JESUS CHRIST EVERYONES WRONG.

1. Pullups are when your palms face you. These are the standard ones.

Chinups are palms facing away from you - more emphasis on the forearms, and are more "realistic" if that matters - if you're ever climbing anything, your hands will be in that position!

2. Here's a good core workout.

3. Try and keep your body as still as possible, for a better workout try and keep your knees (or whole leg if you're feeling particulary tough) at a 90 degree angle to your body. Hands further apart emphasize your back, hands close together emphasize your biceps.

If you are able to do 10 of these easily, think about wearing a backpack with a couple kilos inside. Once you can do ten of those increase the weight, and so on!

First time I've heard it that way!

Either way it doesn't make a difference, it's only a name! Do both OP, mixing things up FTW.
