Is it possible to lose 44 pounds in 3 months? I have an awesome vacation planned and must lose atleast that much to look good when I hit the beach. How do I go about doing it?

fad diets will never ever help you, you need a healthier lifestyle of exercise and good food.
maybe take up cycling, gyms are a nightmare of aerobic work so if you like any sports go for it. but something you can do everyday is best. you can cycle to and from work or school or whatever for good results

How would cycling on an exercise bike, for example, in an intervalled manner where you cycle very hard for a moment and then tune it down for a while and repeat that for a while pose any risk for injury?

I wouldn't recommend trying to lose that much weight. Start with 1 or 2 lbs a week. If you wanted to lose 44 pounds, you should have started way earlier. But don't worry, you'll get there.

The fastest (but not the safest) way to lose weight, of course, is to lie in your bed with a huge jug of water and nothing else for about 4-5 days. Aside from going to the toilet and bathing yourself (remember to use lukewarm water, hot water will make you faint), you should never move about too much, because it will actually make you collapse. As you lie in bed, you will sleep more often, and that will curb your appetite.
