I'm a pretty flexible male- I jumped in to yoga halfway through the "intermediate" class and was able to keep up with the instructor, but the workout was still pretty brutal, and I was definitely a little shaky after class.
If you're not being challenged, just move to a more difficult class. Yoga isn't just doing the splits to Brian Eno- you won't bulk up from it, but it definitely makes you feel better. Plus, the namaste part at the end usually left me feeling more relaxed than I was coming in (and made it easier for me to run games later that evening- /tg/ says 'sup').
