/fit/, health related question. About a week ago, one of my teeth started hurting. I do brush and floss, and I also use toothpicks a lot to clean them. I thought it might be a one time thing, so I continued doing the same, not worrying about it. A few days ago, I was cleaning in between two teeth with a toothpick when part of one BROKE OFF near the gum area. It bled for quite awhile, but it stopped. Now whenever I eat anything on the left side of my mouth, it hurts like hell. I was also laid off about a month ago because of the shitty economy, so I don't have dental insurance anymore. What can I do?

tl;dr - broken tooth, hurts like hell, no dental insurance because I was laid off, halp

Did you crack a tooth or just hurt your gums? Back off sugar content, swish around salt water morning and night. It will help your gums heal and it will hurt.

Cracked part of a tooth near the bottom

I can definitely steer clear of sugar -- would listerine also be ok?

good thing I have dental insurance.

Although so far it's only been used for a bit more serious stuff than a piece cracking off.
Bike accident, falling down while setting a concert stage up, etc.

just go to the dentist, find out how much it'll be. can pay in installments

use listerine or some sort of anti-cavity mouthwash.
also go to the dentist as soon as you can or it will just get worse and you'll have to pay more to fix it.
