Alright /fit/, I wanna lose weight. I'm 6 feet tall, and I weigh 270-ish (probably 269-273).

Here's where things get interesting: I don't have much money to spend on exercise equipment, and I have really bad allergies + asthma, making it not impossible for me to go outside, but largely impractical for exercising outdoors; I really don't handle well outdoors, even driving to the gym would probably get me too wheezy to do a real substantial workout, plus the cost.

My diet isn't horrible; I drink 1-2 sodas a day (almost exclusively energy drinks), eat out about 3 times a week. Besides that, it's normal shit. I only occasionally eat pizza. Furthermore, I have insomnia, so I pretty much need to drink an energy drink in the morning to have any ability to exercise, because sleeping at night isn't always a guarantee.

Any advice? Pic unrelated.

yes because your body needs soda to work. how did people manage before soda? fuck

Yeah, I'm sure that those energy drinks are helping with your insomnia and in no contributing towards it when combined with your shitty diet that you think is fine.

If you really wanna lose weight then invest in a home gym, but going outside helps... perhaps speak to a doctor about what you could do to improve that situation? Else you need to cut your diet right down to lose most of the weight, invest in an indoor cardio machine (e.g. rowing, cycling, something like that, not a treadmill though) and a decent set of weights. Depends a lot on your budget what you'd get. If you can get a second hand power rack and Olympic bar with a full set of weights then you'd be perfectly set. If all you can afford is some adjustable dumbbells then that'll have to do.

Then you have 3 things you want to work on.

First is weight, every bit of exercise and diet improvement contributes to improving your weight. Using intervals when doing cardio has been proven more effective (e.g. 12 seconds of hard cycling, 30 seconds of moderate, repeat). But you also have the option of cycling at a moderate pace for a long time or doing whatever cardio you have. This would be a daily thing, you could do an hour of moderate cycling in front of the telly on your rest days to burn some calories.

No need for sodas, replace it with natural juices that can give you the same amount of energy. I find that to be the best remedy to wake me up after a restless night.

Cardiovascular fitness, best way of improving this is to work yourself like a motherfucker. Meaning exercising at a decent intensity, again intervals are a good option. So you could alternate days, one day where you spent 20-30minutes doing intervals to techno or some shit and end up a sweaty mess and one day where you cycle at a leisurely pace in front of the telly.

Third is strength, no point just doing cardio, strength training is more rewarding and will contribute a lot to weight loss. See www.stronglifts.com, look at their beginners 5x5 program, or beginners 5x5 with dumbbells and do it, also check their nutritional advice as most of it is pretty good.

Never forget to warm up, (light cardio and dynamic stretching before you exercise) and do static stretches after exercising to relax the muscles and cool down.

Post more about your supposedly good diet.

I never said my died was good, I just said it wasn't horrible. I don't fucking gourd myself with candy, I try to make at least a minimal effort to eat somewhat better than your average fat guy would. I avoid sugar somewhat, besides the sodas.

I might have some weights lying around, but yeah, home gym equipment is a no-go. I have a DDR game for the PS1 and Wii Fit, they've helped somewhat but I know they're more like off-time exercising than main exercises.

If you're a real person, and not just a troll.

Then quite honestly?

Kill yourself.

You sound like a fat disgusting pig, you've brazenly disregarded any advice you've been given, cutting soda is going to be important to you losing weight if you are as physically incapable of exercise as you claim to be, you're going to have to follow a strict dieting regime if you want to be healthy AND lose weight.

Failing that just do the Atkins and damn the consequences.

Alright, if you've got some sort of alternative to make me not feel so tired during the day that I feel like going back to bed, I'm all ears. I have been wanting to cut out the soda, but the resulting tiredness makes exercising nigh-impossible.

Alright fatty, you want to do something even in your worthless body which makes no money, not even enough to climb out of your apparent poverty?

www.shovelglove.com

Get a sledgehammer and pretend to do work for 14 minutes a day. Get a heavy one. 12 pounds would be good. Shovel. Chop Wood. Churn Butter, do curls with it. Pretend it's a spear and stab forward. Just do SOMETHING to build some muscle and burn fat.

And see a fucking doctor about your crippling allergies and other problems. Cut out the soda and energy drinks. Learn how to cook yourself basic, nutritious meals with fresh ingredients.

There. Will you stop being so goddamn butthurt?

You must not spend much time on the internet. Chill out.
Have you consulted a doctor? Unless a medical professional has told you to continue with this energy drink routine, I have an extremely hard time believing that it a) is necessary or b) that it isn't contributing to your sleep problems, not to mention your difficulty losing weight. There are ways to deal with insomnia, some of them involve medication, but you aren't doing your body any good by making up for robbed sleep with energy drinks. Otherwise I'd recommend some green tea instead, it has a fair amount of caffeine without all the crap that energy drinks do.

Secondly, you don't give us any insight into what exactly your diet is. "Normal shit" and "eating out" are extremely vague. Normal for whom? When you eat out, do you order salads and water or 30lbs of bacon?

Lastly, don't expect people to be able to help you constructively if you complain of mysterious allegedly crippling ailments and act like you're a hero for being able to overcome them at all. Meanwhile you never tell anyone what these disabilities of yours are, aside from insomnia (see above). You mention asthma, but I've heard and seen countless examples of people overcoming it.

So let's be clear. Here's what you are telling us.
You are fat, and want to lose weight. You can't go outside or even drive in cars (but you can eat out somehow). So you can only exercise in your own home. But you have no money for any equipment so you can only do exercises in your own home that require nothing.

The only part of your diet you've named is regular very fattening and unhealthy soda consumption, but its impossible for this to be eliminated under any circumstances. Other than that you eat in a place that isn't your home sometimes and occasionally eat a pizza.

So we can't help you with your diet because the only part you bothered to mention you are unwilling to change. That leaves exercise. You need cardio, run in place. What other sort of magic insight are you expecting?

I gave you some advice originally, but that doesn't mean I don't think you're a pissy little bitch.

You need to cut the soda out of your diet, I don't give a shit if you think its the only thing that allows you to exercise at all ever. If you need the caffeine, start drinking black coffee without sugar. But cut the fucking soda.

>>269582
problem 1: you're a fat fuck
problem 2: you make excuses
problem 3: you rely on chemical assistance to function

take out your sodas/energy drinks. make a costco run and stock up on tuna, oatmeal, etc. you're diet IS horrible. stop eating out, it's a fucking waste of money. no more pizza. you have insomnia because the human body is not designed to be leading a sedentary lifestyle, it's meant to be fighting for survival out on the plains. So go outside. You have asthma? So do I. get the fuck over it, you can learn to deal with it instead of just saying 'i cant do anything because of it.'

get a gym membership. run outside for awhile. lose ~100 pounds. fix up your diet. change your ENTIRE mindset about just about everything. prepare to stop being a failure at life in 3...2...1..

You say you try and avoid sugars, "somewhat" but you said you drink 1-2 sodas daily.

How about you just stop kidding yourself?

I haven't spoken to a doctor about the energy drinks. I've tried a ton of different medications for the insomnia, it's pretty damn resistant to most I try. Green tea sounds like an idea, thanks.

When I eat out, I get some burgers and fries, pretty much what anyone would.

I've got both types of asthma, lungs and throat. Most that overcome asthma have 1 or the other. I've tried a bunch of different medications, but I'm hopeful it'll get less severe, or better medications will be made.

If you can't get the energy your body needs from what you're eating in the morning, you need to (surprise!) change your diet. See a doctor about your insomnia, I can 100% guarantee s/he's not going to tell you to keep drinking soda.
