FUCK YEAR!

I just finished running a half marathon (13.1 miles for those who don't know) in 2:04:33.

Took a 15 minute ice bath, drank god knows how much water and apple juice (no fucking gatorade at house), ate some chicken n pasta, then sat in the hottub for 20 minutes.

How fucking long does anon feel sore after something like this? My previous longest run was 9.6 miles.

I'm hopin no longer than 3 days or so, I have a race on Sunday.

hate to harsh your buzz there man but i've run 8 miles in about in hour and i dont see 13.1 in two hours being that difficult and im pretty shit compared to some other track runners i know

Good for you OP I ran my first (and only) half marathon about a year and a half ago. I had been training for endurance/5K (aka USMC PFT) and finished in a respectable 1:27. I had the shits and incredibly sore legs for the rest of the day, was still a bit loopy the day after, and was good to run again by Monday.

You should be fine for your race Sunday, and you should set a significant PR.

fine by me. This is the longest run by 3.5 miles that I've ever even attempted. I'd say a 9:30 pace is pretty damn good.

Badass. Sunday is more than enough time to get over it.

What the fuck is your problem. OP let us know he did a badass thing which hurts like a motherfucker for the first time. It's not like penis envy zomg olympians are faster.

Fuck. I did a 5k run 24k ride 5k run duathlon in 2hr 10 min and 70+ year olds beat me (it was totally awesome). I hurt and had massive amounts of fun having never done something like that before.

Congratulations, pro marathoners run twice the distance you did in the same time.

umm...you mean world champions? lol. recreational endurance runners run marathons in ~4 hours.

for me it usually takes 1 day to get rid of soreness in muscle after half marathon runs, but you gota give your body more time to sleep if you'll feel like it, because your heart as a muscle has been affected too

I ran a 1:25 in the Nashville half-marathon. The winner was like 1:07, I think. I'm hoping to run the 26.2 this year.

Honestly, if you've trained enough, you shouldn't be sore for days afterward or anything. However it is a little dumb to run races so close together. I don't run many races but I try to make every race a serious PR attempt.
