OP, I do not eat a lot of meat, so I consume mostly dairy for my main protein source. I have two 50g shakes a day in order to keep my intake up. I weigh 170lbs, so without eating a lot of meat it is nearly impossible to hit that otherwise.
>> Anonymous
umm I pretty much drink whole milk throughout the day, get 2 servings of whey, eat my fucking oats, eat a shitload of turkey and chicken, eat some tuna, salmon and some nuts.
>> Anonymous
Eat cereal in the morning for milk, eat footlong subway roast beef sandwich about 3 hours later, go workout, go home and drink some whey protein with milk, take a nap, eat dinner, eat a snack 2 hours later

Usually gets me pretty close

depends on training program from what I've heard. I've seen as much as 1.75/lb.

anyway, how am I supposed to eat that much? if I eat 3 eggs a day (18g), one chicken breast (38g), and a protein shake (20g) that's still only 76g. is it normal to try to eat that much?
>> Anonymous
ah, okay. doesn't seem too bad then. I am trying to lose some weight though. should I try to decrease calories or just eat mostly protein and not worry about it too much?

When you start eating more, you'll start wondering why you didn't do so in the first place.

>>391762

If you're bulking, calories are not really a concern, and protein is obviously a big priority

ARE YOU REALLY THIS FUCKING STUPID?

what is the best product as far as protein powders go?
>> Anonymous

if your routine is hard enough your body will crave way fucking more than just 3 eggs. When im RAGEEEE at the gym, i end up eating like a fucking pregnant woman.
>> Anonymous
i've always wondered this myself.

my target weight is 190. i usually drink 40g protein shakes which means 4.75 shakes a day...that's about a jug of protein every 6+ days.

that means i have to spend $30-40 every week on proteing jugs :|

amirite?

and then wut...i'll look like hulk hogan??!

i don't, and i've never met anybody, who eats 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. back in high school when a lot of my friends were on the wrestling team, some packed on 15+ pounds of muscle and did not eat this ratio. if you're 130 pounds or less, it becomes more reasonable, but if you weigh 150, 160, 170, 180, 200+ then it becomes ridiculous. it is difficult to have a balanced, nutritional diet and get that protein ratio unless you have the resources to purchase a large variety of protein rich foods or you just don't mind eating nothing but chicken breasts and drinking protein powder every day.

i think it may be worth your time to read about protein absorption:

http://www.myfit.ca/archives/viewanarticle.asp?table=nutrition&id=29&subject=Protein+Absorpt
ion

this is just a random article i googled on the subject; i would do more in-depth research if you are serious about attempting this.

I eat a little more that a day.

-Yogurt
-nuts
-protein shakes
-plain roast beef
-chicken breast
-milk
easy shit

just because YOU cant do it does not mean anyone else lacks the fortitude to accomplish their dietary goals.

i actually try to not GO OVER 1g/lb and i weigh over 190 (and had the same problem when i was 240)

eating only real food, no supps, no powder

6 real meals a day, 30g per meal is not a big deal @ all

nga wat

back in high school I remember some of my big nigger friends who weighed 180-200+ would eat CONSTANTLY, even during break they would have a full meal, and it would all be home packed. only a few that wrestled ate from the cafeteria and they ended up quitting within a year or two

a regular day me PROTEIN WISE

and I weigh 165(and am cutting)

yes, with the amout of lean body mass and training required to get from 170 to 240, my metabolism was fucking roaring. any day under 5000 calories would result in immediate weight loss. caveats: at the time i was training for a strongman competition and interning at a sports performance facility. meaning that i was either A. in the gym B. eating C. sleeping. and nothing else.

Eat a lb of lean chicken breast (150g protein)...

and you're done.

Was that so hard?

From the article
>Supplementation with protein powders in NOT necessary. The average diet already contains more than enough protein, although with an increase in activity, there will also be an increase in caloric needs. There is little or no evidence supporting the effectiveness of these supplements.

NOW WTF DO I DO /FIT/? Moar squats?
>> Anonymous
>>392167
that is the universal line all RDs use. feel free to dismiss it as heresay.

because its 'true' you dont need supplements, but powdered protein is just that, a food. is it even really a 'supplement' per se?

you also dont need to squat either, or deadlift, or HIIT, or ever train hard. because NONE of those modalities are incorporated within the 'universal fitness truths' of the RDs and the fitness establishment.
>> Anonymous
>>391994
Who ever wrote that article is a moron wtf is a 'protein pool'? and 'there is no supporting evidence that these supplements work'....are you fucking kidding me?
Whey powder isn't something made up in a lab, it's derived from Milk. It's just food that is very high in protein.
eating 200grams of protein isn't hard if you sort your diet out and protein powder makes it much easier and convient.
And your protein/carb intake is 60% of putting on muscle.

PROTIP: STUDY ALERT, the medical powers that be claimed that STEROIDS were INEFFECTIVE at stimulating muscle growth UNTIL THE LATE 70s!

mind you, ARNOLD was a common, household name by that time. so every1 knew, all the athletes knew, all the non-american scientists knew, all the coaches knew, just not the 'medical establishment'

Okay, then let me throw this out there...

If I'm 207 lbs now, and want to get down to 155, how much protein do I need to be putting in my face each day to maintain muscle?

How many meals per day are recommended? Finally, should my exercise be insane cardio, or should I be lifting too?

Pic related...it's lunch.

LOL! What a fucking retard, ANAEROBIC IS WHAT MAKES ONE'S METABOLIC SYSTEM MORE EFFICIENT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, NOT AEROBICS. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE DOING, AEROBICS OR ANAEROBICS SO AS LONG AS YOU EXPEND THE CALORIES YOU HAVE TAKEN IN.

oatz with peanut butter, whey, and blueberries in milk for breakfast, greek yogurt with a scoop of whey protein and blueberries for a snack, grilled salmon with rice for lunch,a can of tuna in a wrap and an apple for a snack, grilled chicken with veggies for dinner, whey shake or more yogurt with only blueberries for dessert.

thats my meal plan for today, comes out around 180g of protein or so
>> Anonymous
I usually aim for a gram of protein for about every 2 lbs of body weight. Not worth shelling out on turkey, chicken, salmon, tuna, sometimes crab, wholemeal, oats, eggs and supplements for me @ 195 lbs. I always thought the 1g/1lb ratio was really just for those who want to get really big.
