Doctor said I need some exercise.

Exercise because I'm fat (6 Feet tall, 226 pounds NONE of it muscle)

I've made a route and looked it up on google maps It's about 4.7km. Is that too much to start out at for walking? About how many calories would I burn doing that? And anything else I should know before I start?

Don't simply think exercise will fix you, change your eating habits too. Drink a lot of water instead of pop/juice and cut out the obvious candy/sugar shit. Lurk moar and read up as much as you can about nutrition and dieting from GOOD sites.

The amount of calories burnt depends on the time you have been actually running. It is 600kcal per hour of straight running, + after workout fat burn/

I've stopped drinking pop, and am now drinking water.
I'm eating whole grain bread instead of white bread. I'm cutting out pastas and rice, and am having more fruits and vegetables. I'm limiting my desserts too. But not outright cutting them out, as I feel I may cave in one day and pig out on junk food again. 3 oreos a day won't kill me, right?

Cutting out perfectly good foods like pasta and rice and still eating oreos. I can't see you losing any weight to be honest.

I'm cutting out rice and pasta because they're all just starch, and replacing them with whole grain alternatives.

And I'm still having oreos, because this isn't a temporary diet, it' (hopefully) a pertinent change. I'm not going to loose 20 pounds, and go back to pigging out again. It's unrealistic to expect to not eat any junkfood at all. I'm not eating a box of oreos a day, just 3.
