Greetings, /fit/.

This is sort of a long question, so any help would be appreciated. So pretty much all my life I've been quite active. I played lots of sports when I was younger and currently excercise every day, doing lifts and cardio (HIIT) on alternating days so I'm not lifting or doing cardio two days in a row. Now if I started doing sports and/or martial arts again, how would this affect my gains in terms of my excercise? Would I be doing too much and have to substitute certain activities or is doing sports with this schedule completely out of the questions?

Secondly, a Muay Thai gym just opened up near where I live, so I decided that I want to check it out. I honestly have no idea what to expect, so um... what should I expect? I've never done Muay Thai before but I'm very interested in it, so is there anything I should keep in mind?

Thanks. Pic somewhat related.

Well since you intend to do muay thai wich is quite a strenous sport, i'd recommend to do it in place of your hiit. But you should always ask your trainer or coach about this.

Also go and ask if you could talk a trial class to see if you like Muay thai this way you won't geet ripped off of you realize that you don't like it or that this gym sucks.

A good gym should have some heavy bags, some paos, at least a ring, some basic cardio equipement ( bikes, skipping ropes, maybe a threadmill.) and also some free weights.

A good gym should look like this ( it's where I train.)

depends on the gym
mine is more of a class, they teach the martial arts aspect of it..i do conditioning on my own time.
you might get a gym that just tells you to hit thai pads for a while and train yourself using their equipment.you might get an instructor that teaches total bs...or maybe you get a really good gym with great instructors/equipment
check it out for yourself before you join

Unless your cardio is seriously through the roof, on your first day at the Muay Thai gym expect to feel like vomiting before you're done. Also expect to learn to whip ass like an absolute pro.

Make sure you act like a big shot on your first day. Talk loudly during instruction and make sure you correct other people's form, even if you're not sure what you mean by the advice you're giving (just repeat whatever the instructor says). If you do any sparring make sure you go 100%, no matter what the instructor or anyone else says. Your first day is the best time to earn everyone's respect.

Dude. FUCKING JUST FUCKING TRY IT OUT.
IF YOU START GETTING MORE TIRED EVERY DAY THEN IT'S TOO MUCH AND YOU SHOULD DO LESS.
SORRY I DON'T KNOW HOW YOUR BODY REACTS TO MORE TRAINING.
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW IF YOUR HOUSE CAN BURN YOU DON'T ASK 4CHAN, YOU FUCKING LIGHT IT ON FIRE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF

Pricks like this are the reason why people are nervous at trying new things.
