Not OP here. If I squat and then two days later I'm still in pain, should I wait until I feel better before trying again or just do them again anyway? (SS program, squads every other day).

wait until you feel better...

If it's been 2 days, the muscle has fully healed, but the lactic acid may not be flushed out. Do more squats, it's fine.

>>388755

Meant to say squats obviously, not squads.

>>388741

Would taking a cold shower directly after training help stop the buildup of lactic acid?

Also, is there anything wrong with eating a low amount of calories (~1600kcal/day) while first starting this program?

Eat more, don't squat until you've fully recovered. Overtraining is bad and you're more prone to injure yourself.

Wrong

'over training' is the quickest way to gain muscle mass... if you rest properly.

you fail, bro.

I use my oversquat recovery days to overpush-up.

Either way, I'm usually unable to function in society.

protip:

none of you are experience enough to overtrain

you are just undereating and undersleeping. enjoy supercompensation.

true overtraining takes anywhere from 4-12 months to properly recover from. thats longer than most of you have been training YOUR WHOLE LIFE. do you have ANY idea the amount of work necessary to incur inroads that severe that would require that long to recover from?

>>389210
You are confused.

Overtraining(1): Training too much in a relatively short period of time without adequate rest, resulting in fatigue, tiredness, soreness.

Overtraining(2): Muscle overload theory, focusing on a specific muscle group with intense exercises, up to two times a day for 4 days in a week in an attempt to damage muscle tissue and incur quick growth.

There is no "over training" that takes months and months.

The real definition of "overtraining" is the first one. The second definition is just what some people call muscle overload theory.

my degree and highest post-grad certification in the USA in strength and conditioning say otherwise

thats how long it takes to recover from overtraining.

you are an idiot and i revoke your right to participate in discussion w/people significantly more informed than you are.

sometimes you got to flex a little muscle, because its not like any 3rd party will be doing research out there to 'deem' who is correct.

although I have my own views against tripfaggotree, as it defeats the purpose of an anon board, this anon has seen tripfag cscs posts enough to give him the benefit of the doubt in any argument against a random anon who comes bearing no studies, just opinions.
