/fit/, why is high fructose corn syrup so bad? I hear you guys talk about it all the time, but I've never actually known why.
One of my biochemical lectures does loads of work on why its bad and linked with obesity. Not good in our Krebs cycle cos we are not plants. messes citric acid cycle or something.. google it.
It's bad for you because your body doesn't get the same response from it as it does from regular sugar.HFCS doesn't produce the insulin response that signals your body to 'feel full' so it's very easy to consume too much of it. Try it. Drink a bottle of coke or pepsi and see how you feel. A few hours later, drink a bottle of natural/organic orange juice (read the label to confirm that there is no HFCS) and see how you feel.After drinking the coke, you won't feel full for a long time afterwards. After drinking the OJ it's a much different story.HFCS isn't bad for you per se, but can trick you into eating much more food than you actually NEED to eat.
>>51007>type 2 diabeties not obesity
>>50999you are right. But since it's incredibly cheap soda companies mix more of it and in everything.
It is full of thetans, like cholesterol, red meat, carbohydrates, eggs, sugar, fat, ...
1. stupidly high sugar; much, much more then any *natural* sugar. MAJOR insulin response which inhibits fat loss/encourages fat accumulation.2. They put it in EVERYTHING remotely processed which means you stack calories like nobody's business. I shit you not I lost weight living in another country (Japan) where cane sugar was used more frequently.3. Related to 1-2; it provokes you into binging on high calorie snacks so you consume WAY more calories then you would other wise.This shit is the nutritional anti-Christ. Seriously.
I wish more things had cane sugar or something.I love gummies so much... ;_;
HFCS is sugar. It's the same components. There's no difference, and any and all negative press about it is scaremongering.
>>51361it's extremely refined and pure 'sugar' with no other nutritional value, that's the point. it's also fructose, so it doesn't cause your liver to secrete leptin. this becomes problematic if you're consuming high purity high energy sources, because all that energy you're intaking isn't telling your body that it's full so you just keep on eating. with natural sources of fructose this isn't an issue; there is fibre and glucose and shit around to help do this. with ultra-pure fructose it becomes an issue.this is why fructose is bad for you.also if you're eating hfcs you're usually eating ultra-processed bullshit anyway, so go figure.
>>51372>>this is why fructose is bad for you.meh, i should clarify. fructose actually has a great many benefits (less insulin response than glucose etc), when you purify it and add it to everything then eat it twice, these go out the window. kind of like how dark chocolate is good for you unless you eat it for every meal every day.
