So I heard /fit/ was against cardio. Why is that? If I am trying to lose weight, what is superior to cardio, and why?

Amputation, because we hate you.

Instead of cardio, try drinking a gallon of full-fat milk a day.
Shit is SO cash.

Squat anything and everything around you, at all times.

That car? Squat it.

That tank? Squat it.

The side of that building? You know what comes next.

/fit/ hates cardio because contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of /fit/ aren't fat fucks, but rather the opposite. It's actually really skinny white dudes with compensation issues wanting to bulk up, and they're scared shitless that they'd go catabolic if they burn too much calories with aerobic shit.

So close to death, I too would be worried about running for 12 minutes into a coma.

You've got two choices here. You can do cardio to build up your cardiovascular fitness and lose weight.

The other way to lose weight would be weight training. Muscle needs more calories to maintain, so after time your caloric needs will increase which helps you out with weight loss.

It's all up to what you want to do. Wouldn't say either is better than the other, tbh

FUCKING FALSE

If you don't think you can build muscle mass and your cardiovascular fitness at the same time. What's stopping a person from weight training and then going for a long run or swim afterwords? I do it every day.

Cardio is important for health in the long term and it's a good way to build endurance. You can do one without doing the other but if you don't do any strength training then you can lose tons of fat and still look like shit because you don't have any muscle. Just make sure to balance them or else you could end up hurting yourself.

I wasn't trying to imply you could only do one although it was poorly worded.

You can do cardio and weight training and there's nothing wrong with that.

He was talking about losing weight, not building cardiovascular fitness.
