Hey /fit/,
I know you're supposed to divide workouts into push/pull, so I've got a deadlift and powerclean on monday, squat on wednesday, and assorted faggotry like the bench press on friday thing going on. However, I've read that box squats utilize hip flexion more than actual quadriceps contraction and also that box squats can be recovered from infinitely easier than regular ones(Louie Simmons), and also that single leg box squats engage the hamstrings a lot (pulling muscles) (Charles Poluquin or whatever his last name is). This said, would it be safe/practical the incorporate the box squat and box single leg squats into my pull day with deadlifts and powercleans, and instead use wednesday for something else? Say, heavy duty plyometrics, HIIT, or jump squats?

Tl;dr - could box squats (hip flexion, easy recovery), especially box single leg squats (use hamstrings, which are pulling muscles), fit into a pull day?

Pic unrelated, but makes yoga kind of awesome now

i don't think you need box squats and deadlifts on the same workout
maybe you could try box squats on monday
bench on wednesday
and deadlifts on friday
that should give your hips more time to recover
if you do it like that it would probably be a good idea to include some front squats or split squats for the quads
