I know /fit/ hates skinny freaks but anyway--

I've been doing push ups every day with push up stands for two months now. Here's my before & after.

I think I'm hitting a plateau though. Bleh, just thought I'd share.
>> Anonymous
Nice progress. If you want to get any bigger, you'll have to start lifting weights and eating more.

OP here-- I just had a question. In the first pic I was 128 lbs and in the second pic I'm 138 lbs.

How much of the 10 lbs would you say was muscle, fat, and water?
>> Anonymous
>>234443
Most of it muscle, i guess. Seriously though, pushups will only do so much. Buy some weights or go to the gym.
>> Anonymous
You can only progress a certain amount doing only pushups, even using stands. You should think about buying some weights and a pullup bar. You'll get a pretty complete workout that way. Also, do pistol SQUATS so you won't anger everyone on this board haha.

But yeah good progress!
>> Anonymous
Don't listen to them... Pushups can be very effective even when you are really muscular. You can do all kinds of variations of the normal pushup...

Try doing pushup with only one hand or buy push up rings (those that hang from the ceiling).

I tried a 1 and push up, I can't do it yet. Though maybe I could start with a 1 hand cheater pushup until I build up the strength and learn how to balance it.
>> Anonymous
hey just curious, how many pushups did you start out with, how many are you doing now?
>> Anonymous
Pushups are fucking lame i bet your parents laugh at you.

The first week I could barely do 10, then I could do 10x3. After two weeks I was doing 20x3. After the 1st month doing 20x3 was getting too easy so I got the pushup stands. 20x3 became really difficult with the stands for the first two weeks of using them, but then it got easier.

With the stands I still start to strain on the last few reps.

Do it on your knees first
>> Anonymous
You have the perfect shoulders :(

go to a gym sir and do deadlifts and squats
>> Anonymous
Dont overextend your shoulders with the stands.

Now its time to add a backpack with water bottles to your pushups, and do them with your feet inclined. When you can once again do 3x20, up the weight more.

Also, dips between two chairs and a doorway pullup bar will do wonders for back, shoulders, and arms.

And the inevitable, yes, you need to find a way to do some squats. Squats can help you build other seemingly unrelated muscles because they can stimulate full-body growth changes on a hormonal level. In other words, working out so many muscles and loading the spinal support chain will stimulate the production of the good stuff in your body, and that will help you build the other parts you are working on too.

You've made great progress, BTW. Good work!

I need a bodyweight exercise for my chest. The rest of me is fine, I just have soft pecks

Inject meat into your veins.

Nice progress. Nearly all of it was muscle gain, since it doesn't look like you were trying to seriously gain. If you don't like gyms, you can do a lot with a couple pairs of dumbbells. You really need a bench to make quicker and more significant progress on your chest though. Keep it up.
>> Anonymous
Pushups on chairs are great for your chest. Also, google divebombers.
>> Anonymous
i'm pretty much the before shot but started pushups last week so hopefully i'll be like the after-shot soon.

does it make a diff if i do my exercise morning or evening?
>> Anonymous
Not to diss you or anything, it looks like in your first picture you're pushing your shoulders back, but in your second picture you're letting your shoulders roll forward, which generally gives the idea of muscle mass in the chest region. To get a clear estimate of progression, try holding your shoulders at the same position ( I just know this cause when I curl my shoulders in I look like I actually have muscle :( )

screw those who said OP is too skinny.

I think that body is great

5.6 100lbs

>>234443
i wouldn't worry about fat gain whatsoever

stop eating so fucking clean. rice and chicken and salads are not going to add msucle.

do not be afraid of getting fat when you bulk. losing fat is east. getting muscle is hard.

if you decide not to listen to me, enjoy hopping from 128 - 145lbs back and forth over and over and getting nowhere.

dont cut until you are 190lbs at least

before and aftershot look the same.

if you posted this on t-nation you would get flamed to peices

Fellow skinnyfag here-
Hats off to you sir, I recently bought a set of dumbbells and have been working out with them for about a week now, also trying to eat more protein.
Anyway, this post has given me inspiration, so keep up the good work!
