you can join the air force with asthma? Didnt know that....
You are a chubbo, so lower your intake of breads, chips and dairy. make sure your meals consist of a small amount of protein, large amounts of fresh veggies, nuts, and some fruit. and reduce things like egg yolks, high fatty meats, and vegetable oils. avoid high amounts of sugar and artificial sweetners as the glucose and "fake stuff" will trick your body as you try to get fit.
For the asthma, start introducing yourself to mild peppers such as chipotle and cheyenne, some coffee if you have to. there is nothing you can do about the asthma other than help reduce contributing factors.
keep walking, try swimming and holding your breath to start building lung expansion.
