Groin pain during situps Anonymous
Sup /fit/

So today I was at the gym working thru the routine, when I experienced a problem with my decline situps.

I was just going at it like normal shooting for 3 sets of 20, and I finished the first 20 no prob. The second twenty I started to feel a weird pain at 7 and stopped at 12 because I thought I was smushing a testicle or something. I check out my junk, and both nuts are down in the sack all proper and with plenty of room to move, so I figure it was just a freak thing, and go back to it. During the final set of reps I got the pain again the whole time and I had to stop at 10 reps.

Like I said it kinda felt like a pressure pain, like something pulling on a nerve/tendon that ran from my lower abdomen to my scrotum. The red line on the diagram shows where the pain felt like it was coming from.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what it is? Am I doinit wrong? How do I avoid it?

Wait a second here. I just do one set of 100. It's hard to push to that point but it's doable... am I doing it wrong? Should I break this into sets? Or does it matter? I'm confused /fit/.

The line you've drawn is your Hip Flexor... perhaps it's damaged?

(Sit-ups use your hip flexor primarily, it's why they're considered a shitty ab exercise)

Thanks. I see. Should I attempt to strengthen this separately with some step-ups (perhaps while gripping some dumbbells) or perhaps the almighty squatz (which I don't yet include because I fear my shitty form may kill me)?

Also I understand that situps aren't ab-golden, this is just one part of my lower core routine. I include lots of leg lifts, swiss ball crunches, bicycles etc. to target all around the region.

i get that same pain too, except it goes all the way to my left testicle. i have a varicocele that I had surgery on, but it's still there.

stop doing sit-ups, they do nothing.
