Hey /fit/, I have a question about these halal food stands.

I would have taken this to /ck/, but they're more about DELICIOUS FOODS and not really health.
....

Seeing as I live in NYC, these stands are everywhere, I usually get one of those huge lamb over rice things smothered in "white" sauce and hot sauce.

I'm unable to find any nutritional data about these things anywhere, and this mystery "white" sauce befuddles me.

What does /fit/ think about these food stands?

Iranian here, I may be able to help. Describe the taste of the white sauce, I'll tell you what it is.

Well, it's tangy and I'm pretty sure it's riddled with saturated fat by it's taste.

Your description sucks. picture would help, or a better description...

I'm trying to think of what one would pour on lamb that would be a sauce... hmm...

There's a couple of different white sauces in Halal cooking, but the one you're talking about, that comes with "(meat) and rice" is primarily yogurt, sour cream, and cucumber. Garlic may or may not be present, and at the more traditional stands there might be tahini involved as well.

/ck/ know a lot more about food than /fit/
/fit/ seems to only know old wife's tales, stuff they read on CNN in the 90s and other bullshit.
/ck/ is pro at cooking
