Sup /fit/,

I'm 17 years old, 5'11" and 231 pounds, and I want to get healthier, but I don't know anything about exercise. A few months ago I decided I'd do something about it, stopped drinking soda, cut down on fast food, and stopped eating extras in between meals (or if I did I went to fruits/vegetables). At the same time I started running on a treadmill my parents bought, 30 minutes a day at 3.4mph, for about two weeks. Then one day I lost the power cord to the treadmill, and when I found it again a week later, I didn't start running again. Not only that, I started slacking on what I eat, however, I didn't go back to drinking soda (I used to average 4-6 cans a day).

So now I want to start back up again, and I know I can handle it, because I did before, but my problem is ignorance. Running and eating less without feeling any different gets to me. So what I want to know if there's anything I should know about how much I should exercise, and what to expect... It doesn't matter how long, if I can see some progress happening I'd feel differently.

sounds like a contradiction...

anyway, mix your routine up. It'll keep your body guessing, which will lead to continued results, try drinking more water as well

cry about it on the internet and maybe it will get better you fat, friendless, ugly virgin.

Look in the mirror every freaking second you can. With your clothes off. Then cry.

So you want instant results?

Just run and eat better. Start doing push-ups, sit-ups, bodyweight squats, and pull-ups. Do anything you can do with your body.

Trust me, this will be tough enough initially.

ok here is what you do first you want to start eating food that will give you energy oatmeal shit like for your meats eat chicken or fish and eat some fucking veggies. second you want to eat 6 meals a day or eat what you would normally eat in 3 meals over 6. this will keep your metabolism high so that you burn more calories while your not doing anything. now i found results in running every other day and lifting the days in between with a day of rest. rest is important because you can fuck up your body without it. while you are running do a jog for 4 min and a sprint for like maybe 1 then go back this will put more strain on your legs so your body will repair itself while you are resting also burning calories. and dont expect to lose more than 5 pounds a month unless you are really fat and then you can cut fat faster that is really only the super chubs

OP here. Should I thrust my hand up into my rectum? I think that's something I could do with my body, so...

I'm comfortable with myself, that's not the problem, it has most to do with my doctor telling me I have high cholestoral, and I want to be healthier. I guess my only gauge is weight.

1 serving of High Protein milk/Protein shake.

Snack: 1 x assorted fruit.

Lunch: Chicken salad roll/Tune salad.
1 x assorted fruit.

Snack: 2 x rice cakes w/ peanut butter.

Dinner: 200g of baked chicken/salmon/tuna/lean meats.

I am the guy that posted the diet thing, this might also help you a bit. I am yet to start my workout due to injurys (broken bone in foot), but I have it all worked out.

1) Calculate your BMR (http://health.discovery.com/tools/calculators/basal/basal.html)
This site explains it but basically that is how many calories your body burns just by existing each day. (Most of that is from the energy needed by your muscle; 50 calories per pound of muscle)
2) Spend one week eating healthy food AT or below that amount of calories. Spread it out across 5-6 meals. This will wake up your metabolism. If you don't exercise now don't even worry about exercising for this first week, you will fail if you set your goals TOO high.
3) Give yourself a cheat meal at some point in the week. Try to last as long as you can, but if you're going to fail, go ahead and eat whatever you want. And by meal I mean a meal, not 2 bags of doritos covered in cheez wiz with 6 liters of soda topped off with 2 dozen krispy kreme donuts. Go to your favorite restaurant or something and eat a meal of whatever you want.
3) Figure out a diet somewhere around 200 calories less than your BMR. Weight train 3 times a week. Do cardio on the off days if you want and once you start to get into shape look into HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

Instead of trolling threads like this, why don't the mods start a "FITNESS FOR N00BZ" sticky where we can give advice to beginners and not have to repeat this shit every other day?
>> Anonymous
need to make sticky like on 7chan fitness board

I think I'd have preferred that.

It's a good idea, though I don't agree with everything in the sticky at 7chan most of it is a no brainer.
