where the fuck can i find food that doesn't contain PIG DISGUSTING hfcs. That shit is in everything. with the exception of the fresh vegetables and fruits, it is listed as an ingredient in almost everything. good ol' america, putting corporate profits and the ag industry before the healthcare of its nation.

It's an American thing. Remember all the corn we have over here? NATIVE AMERICANS. HI-HOW-ARE-YA!

Um. Don't buy processed food and you won't get it. I've got piles of food -- meats, cheeses, crackers, peanut butter, milk, cereal, and other stuff that didn't up and pop into my head -- that doesn't have HFCS in it. Of course you're going to get that shit if you go out and buy twinkies and pop tarts...
>> Anonymous
At supermarkets most the boxed and tetra paks on shelves are all full of it, like 90% of the products. really anything with a bar code. Stay at the peripheral edges where there is the fresh, natural, minimally processed stuff. Real food expires quickly in most cases, you should be shopping daily not weekly. The only things I go down the main aisles for are bags of lentils/split peas for cheap protein, and bags of brown rice. if you buy lots of rice make sure to keep it super properly sealed, for some reason moths love this shit.

also look for the similarly related and frequently appearing glucose/fructose on ingredient labels. not just HFCS

in nature many animals and insects don't eat a highly processed foods. They instinctively seem to know it's a kind of poison. Margarine. Chips. etc.

No... It's because there is a culture of fatness in our society. Soon it will be overwhelmed by the legions of reactionary health freaks though.

You're generalizing all the states. Some states don't get any fucking exercise. Some states are full of unmotivated fucks who care about their health, but are bawwwwing and eating their disgustingly large portions of food to ease the pain. Other states are full of healthy model citizens.

and your generalizing everyone who lives in a particular state... knock that shit off, both of you.

99% of the bread in stores uses HFCS, even the expensive "Healthy" breads, or the artisan bakery breads from a bakery, not off the shelf.

Sometimes it is hard to avoid HFCS. I know I have trouble avoiding it with bread. A lot easier to avoid it with other products.. grain is a pain in the ass though.

Why avoid HFC? What's so bad about it?

>>corporate profits

there is your problem OP. its all filthy lucre.
Also, corn is one of the most planted GM crops out there. The moar you know. . .

>>251791

I don't bother with bread because...well, I don't know why, but if you like bread you might look into getting a bread maker or just baking up loafs yourself. The bread maker is a bit easier; it does all the churning 'n' stuff for you. Then you can just make sure to use only fresh ingredients and you're golden!

HFCS has an odd effect in spiking your insulin levels once you consume it. Body goes into STORE FAT IMMEDIATELY mode, and it shocks your pancreas as you're forced to produce that insulin.

Eat it often enough and you gain fat and eventually develop diabetes.

It really is in everything packaged though, SOMETHING corn will be in damn near everything cellophane wrapped in the united states. Even things that are not sweet usually have some in there anyways.
>> Anonymous
HFCS is also labeled as other things since people are now having knee-jerk whine attacks about how evil it is. LOOK OUT OMG.

Really, those people are stupid. Yes, it's very common and yes it's contributing towards obesity, but I cannot grasp why everyone is acting like it's some sort of invisible poison big business slips into everything to make you insta-fat.

Just don't be a snack-food guzzling rampaging butter monster. It's as simple as that. Now go off and whine about artificial sweeteners instead, plz. At least those have flimsy, unfounded health reasons for hypochondriacs to latch onto. OOH OR TEFLON.

i know of two things:

"bear naked" cereal
and if you look in the health food section of grocery stores the penut butters don't contain that.

just look in the health food section. it's a bit more expensive but if you don't want corn syrup crap then it's worth it.

This is exactly the sort of stuff I was talking about.

It's not a mysterious effect, consuming sugars, even in the form of other quickly-digested carbohydrates will increase your insulin level, and increase your blood sugar levels, which in turn puts your body into storage mode. The rest of what you said is the typical anti-HFCS blathering.

Developing obesity and diabetes is due to overeating and excessive consumption of empty calories. If we didn't have HFCS but the same snack-driven fast food culture in place, we'd still have a society of fatties, but now they'd be blaming, oh, whatever. salt, i dunno. As far as diabetes, that is...well, there is somewhat of a argument to that, but once again, a lot of the developed diabetes is either due to fatness or excessive consumption/shitty diets in general.

High Fructose Corn syrup is widely used because
1: We grow shitloads of corn in America
2: It's a liquid and easier to store/transport than sugar
3: Comparable to the sweetness of cane derrived sugar
4: Cheap

Cane sugar is arguably better than HFCS for those who can tell the difference. As far as the body's ability to metabolize HFCS glucose and fructose and pure sugar sucrose, your body regulates absorption of sucrose by breaking it down into glucose and fructose using the enzyme sucrase. Without this step, consumption of HFCS enters the bloodstream unregulated, causing insulin spikes and eventually may lead to diabetes.

Texas is mostly an obese state due to all the small towns. There's basically nothing for people to do there but eat. I've heard tales of how people in small towns basically just sit around watching TV and when it comes to shopping they look to booklets of items that they call in for, since no store is going to setup near them.
