Even the most expensive whey proteins give you more protein for your dime than just about anything else.
You get 20g of protein for 52 cents with expensive whey -- that is, a 40 buck tub of the stuff. The price goes down pretty quickly. My current tub is sitting at less than 40 cents per 20 grams of protein.
Compare that to milk, which is 75 cents per 20 grams of protein (at 4 bucks a gallon).
Compare that to eggs, which are about 83 cents per 20 grams (at 3 dollars per carton)
Compare that to chicken breasts, which are around 1.14 per 20 grams of protein at 7 bucks a pop (a premium, to say the least).
If frugality is your goal, get whey. If natural stuff is your goal, get anything derived from animals -- milk, eggs, meat. Veggie protein helps, but is not as complete and often tastes like ass.
