CAPS LOCK LIKE THE MOTHER FUCKING BEES OF THE BEES KNEES !nHGWwRLJds
Excuse the lack of fitness photos, but I have a question regarding the likes of /fit/

I recently acquired a new job as a warehouse selector with C&S. It's usually negative 30 on average inside of the freezer (where I will be working) and it will be inhumane brute labor for 12-16 hour shifts.

That being said, what are some good tips? Like, what to eat, when to eat and some little tricks to keep me from freezing to death?

Well, it makes you FEEL warm by making your blood rise to the surface, but in reality it starts to lower your body temperature.

Alcohol has a lower freezing point than water...

Double fail. Alcohol is a vasodilator, it increases blood flow to the skin, making you feel warm but you actually lose body heat faster. Tobacco is a vasoconstrictor, tightening the vessels in the extremities, making you more prone to frostbite in your fingers/toes.

Just eat a lot, don't sit still, stay moving.

What to eat:

protein - your body uses 40% of your protein intake just to break itself down.

What to do:

keep moving - as you probably know already, your body temperature rises when it burns glycogen. Just keep moving long enough to raise your temperature. Push yourself any more and your body will prespire to cool itself down...which sux if you're in a freezer.

How I know: I used to work in a supermarket warehouse in the frozen foods section. It's a bitch...but it beats being in the regular warehouse in the summer time.

Thanks. I'll try pushing more protein in, but doing it prior since protein is always digested last. So it's gonna be meat and starches beforehand. Any suggestions on what I should drink? Energy drinks yay or nay?

I only recommend sport drinks after a high-cardio activity (a couple games of b-ball...a few rounds of tennis) because of the salt-loss when sweating. Consider fruit and water as an alternative because of the nutrients available in fruit...no empty calories.

And yes, protein does burn last but your body works hard to break it down. Best suggestion is to play with your diet and find a protein/carb/fat ratio that works for you.
