Muscle Milk? Anonymous
Found a huge tub of it in my garage. I remember a bunch of gym rats talking it up and was wondering if this is some gimmicky shit or would actually be a good supplement to a workout. It tastes fucking awesome, so Im guessing no.

also, if it's a replacement for having a milkshake, I'd rather just not drink either and save the calories.

it says to use 2 scoops with 12 oz of milk, but when i do that its all clumpy and shit. I think i'm going down to 1 scoop and 8oz.

I have muscle milk light. Its very thick. I've only used it twice, so no experience.

But its protein, so I'm sure it does the job of protein.

Use two scoops, put it in a blender with the milk, add a couple ice cubes, blend until the mixture is homogeneous, enjoy.

im just cautious of things that say "burn fat! not muscle!" on the packages as false advertising. when do you guys drink it? Before a workout? After? It actually suggests drinking right before bed.

and yea, clumpy as shit. Felt like I was drinking cake batter.

It's not all whey, it's that casien shit or whatever too, that takes 8 hours to digest.

This is better for like a wakeup or nighttime shake (or both)

Been using this stuff pre/post workout and before bed (as recommended on the tub), and it works pretty well.

It's always good to be cautious of claims like these. The deal with the fats in MM is that they're medium chain triglycerides, which some nutritionists claim are burned off before they can get stored (again: SOME claim this, it is debated).

The "burn fat! not muscle" claim is misleading because it leads the consumer to believe MM will help the user burn subcutaneous fat, not the fat ingested from the drink.

One could say that because of the MCT fats in MM it would be a wise choice for a pre-workout shake (which is what I used it for when I could afford it). It lacks a good carb to protein balance to make it a good post-workout shake (a good balance would be 3:1 carbs to protein, instead it is 1:2). Drinking it before bedtime is also kind of a waste of the whey in it. If you want a bedtime shake, just get a casein powder.

Also, it tastes fucking awesome.

Interesting review on it as well.

you can do better.

ingredients are likely low quality and massively processed. if you have, sure, eat it. but there are better ways out there to easily consume protein/calories.

also, dont fall for the 'protein/fat' deal, it has quite a bit of carbs as well.

i visualize this a powdered form of protein bar
