Sup /fit/,

I am a 23 yr old female, 5' 9", 185 lbs, with thyroiditis.

I am looking to lose weight but I sit sedentary at a desk all day. I do about 30 min a night on the elliptical, but I have yet to see a change on the scale.

I figure the next best way is to cut down on calories.

What is the recomended amount of calories to eat in a day without making me feel like I'm starving all day?

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a condition caused by inflammation of the thyroid gland. It is an autoimmune disease, which means that the body inappropriately attacks the thyroid gland––as if it was foreign tissue.

incidentally, if you take the thyroid hormone, you have to be extra careful of exercising, making sure to stay very hydrated.

Roughly, 2000 calories is the recommended average. For sedentary people, this drops down to 1500, and for active people it raises to 2500.

Losing weight is a matter of using more than you take in. 30 minutes is a good minimum for your cardio workout. Keep in mind though, that if this is what you're used to, and you're neither gaining or losing weight, then you've reached an equilibrium. You need to either decrease your intake, or intensify or lengthen your workout.

Good god I couldn't help but laugh and almost wake up the other half. Saging not out of hate just no reason to bump.
