Hello, /fit/

So i've been having some back problems. They've been bad for about 2 months now, but are getting really bad. I went to my doctor and she prescribed me anti inflammatory medication, but I think i'm allergic to it (made me feel really nauseous and sick)

So my question for you is what exercise can I do? I'm currently 5'9 and 211.4lbs, male. This is my 5th week on my lifestyle change and so far so good, but I can't exercise!! I feel like I let myself down when I don't exercise, and I fear I'll gain the weight I've lost back.

Help please =/

Since you are fat, I recommend just walking and or swimming.

Try to stretch so you stretch your back properly

A good stretch to do is to make a backwards K shape using your left arm and right leg (or vice versa) so that it stretches the arm down through the back and along the leg...

i have the same problem. make sure you wear shoes/trainers that support your arches.
secondly my doc has given me exercises to do for the back. your doc should have done the same. one is to position yourself like you were going to do a box push up and stretch out your right arm and left leg (then repeat with opposite) for 10 reps. another is to kneel down on the floor, sit back on your legs hold your hands together and slide your hands forward along the floor, keeping your bum as far back as you can. again 10 reps

Using a foam roller on the sore area also helps me.

Why ask /fit/? Especially this fit. See a specialist.

Anyway, sounds like you have muscular pain around the lumbar curve, but are your problems due to a lordotic or kyphotic posture?

Swimming, biking or elliptical/cross-training won't be impact through your spine so they're best.

Pharmacist here (well soon to be at least) The NSAID are notorious for giving people stomach problems. Take NSAIDS with a FULL glass of water and make sure to have a decent amount of food in your stomach, not just one or two bites of food. See if this helps!

Also, how else did it make you sick? Rashes, etc?
