Bench Anonymous
/fit/, I have been training for a while and my bench press is pissing me off. It never goes up and I've been doing 5x5. It's gone from 130-155 and I've been stuck at 155 for a while now. My incline has also been at 140.. Some days I can do 155B and 140IB easily so I try to go up 2.5lbs and I get killed. What the hecckkk.. :(

I give my chest 5 days rest and I don't work shoulders on consecutive days.. I do chest/tris same day.

Mix up your routine. Your body is simply adapting to the same repetitive workouts and is resulting in your predicament. Try changing around the reps and sets for a while, or even the exercises. Instead of barbell, try dumbbell benches. Once you break through your plateau, go back to the same regimen as before. Hope that helps.

I've found 5x5 only really works if you do it at least 3 times a week for whatever lift you are doing. Cut down your rest time you only need 2 days in between regardless of the acid left in your chest and arms. See if that helps. If not then start doing a 3x8 routine instead also with less rest time.
