I've always been thin for years, despite what or how much I ate. It was when I hit 24 last year that I noticed my stomach was beginning to get bigger, so I figured my metabolism was slowing down. I've always eaten a lot of junk food, but also ate self-cooked meals. I didn't over-indulge so much as just never considered it necessary to avoid junk food or exercise.

I'm not getting fat, I'm just not as thin. I don't know how much I weigh (I've probably got a 34-35 inch stomach) from 30 inches. I just want to make sure I don't start getting fat.

So I've cut out much of the junk food and considered exercising, something I've never done beyond walking to and from the bus or supermarket. So here's my question for /fit/:

Will cuttng back on the junk be enough, or should I exercise as well? Obviously exercise is good, but will cutting back on junk be enough to curb the tide?

For exercising, what's good for beginners? I don't want to invest in equipment or a gym membership, so what's a good set of basic exercises to help build strength and avoid getting too big? What about warming up? Hints, tips?

I await your expertise!

God, why do people like you have to be such fucking douchebags?

To jumpstart your metabolism, make sure you eat frequently. Try to eat every 3 hours or so, and get a lot of lean protein. And yes, cutting out the junk will help, but why not exercise while you're at it? Gain some muscle while you're at it.

To start, buy yourself an exercise ball and band. With the ball you can really work your abs/lower back and also do some wall squats for quads. With the band you can work your arms, shoulders, and to some extent your chest. If you're only looking for free stuff, just do pushups, lunges, and bicycle crunches. Don't forget to do warmups.

Internet, though I thought your post was pretty tolerable except for the avoiding getting big part. It's the dumbest common fitness concern, as if you'll gain 20 pounds of muscle by doing some push-ups. Just do some push-ups, dips, assisted pull-ups, squats.

Or maybe you fuckstains should realise that maybe someone might be asking these kinds of questions because they're actually looking for help and good feedback, and not smart-ass responses from losers like yerselves. I'm good at a lot of things, know a lot about a lot of things, but exercise and dieting is something I've never been concerned about or needed to focus any attention on.

you should try to do at least 30mins of cardio a day, this will help you keep the weight off, plus heart-wise its the exercise you do between the ages of 18-28 that really makes a difference to your long-term heart well being.
