'sup /fit/!

I've started my new life trying to be healthy and all, but now I bring you a question.

Spices. Are they bad? Salts, peppers, barbecue mixes, oregano and other herbal stuff - what are their calorie levels? How liberal can I be with the usage? I really like spicy shit and it would help a lot if I could enhance the sometimes bland health food with some delicious seasoning without detracting too much from the health factor.

TL,DR: Spices, can I has them?

it think its better to use spices at cooking than sugar, but hot spices can irritate your throat and stomach, you will them use them in small ammounts but they have calories too

for example pepper has 255 calories for 100g

but 100g is a huge ammount, i think most people will eat 100g pepper in a year or so

Spice must flow (use as much as you want).

in general, go crazy. the nutritional content of spice is so insignificant usually. just keep in mind sugar is a special evil. pepper/cinnamon/etc are all just fine.

Dried spices are excellent, they make food worth eating. The prepared sauces like 'Instant Thai' are usually full of sugar and are not as good. Look for recipes and start experimenting.

You can really use spices liberally.
Condiments, not so much.

Basically, if it doesn't have nutritional info on the side, then don't sweat it.
