Hey mis/fit/s. I come to you because I've never really gotten any solid advice on working out.

I recently turned eighteen, and I joined the ARMY and picked up boxing. I need to gain weight, because I'm 6'3" and weigh under 150lbs. Twice a week I do intense boxing workouts, and I run, well, kinda at my leisure. Usually 2 times a week for about a half hour. I don't really have any fat, but I need to gain some muscle!

Eat more and then let the army take care of your workouts.

Well I only do Drill Weekend once a month :-\ two days of intense PT would be enough to keep me fit? My PT scores are getting better, sure, but that's coming out of a guy who NEVER worked out.

Shameful bump. Surely someone has better advice than "eat more." I had steak and Arby's today. I can't eat a whole lot more.

Try to intake atleast 4000 calories a day. A good start is some oats in the morning - Not quaker instant oats, actual oatmeal. Toss some fruits into it along with a bit of protein powder to make it palatable.

Then make sure you eat lots of lean protein. Chicken and lean beef steaks are great. Brown rice for carbs and broccoli or asparigus for fibre.

Make sure you have 2 protein shakes a day - Try a weight gainer like, Muscle Milk, or Mammoth. They are about 1000 calories per drink. Drink one protein shake between breakfast and lunch, and one right after a workout; on non-workout days, drink it between lunch and dinner.

Snacks are welcome any time - Granola bars, bananas and such. Also, because of your metabolism, don't be too worried about cheating occasionally. Occasionally is the key word though.

That'll be sure to put a few pounds on you.

If you really want to gain some muscle mass, look up a pyramid set weight training regime. It's brutal on your body, but builds muscle like crazy.

I give you this advice because I am doing much the same right now - I went from 123 (I'm 5'11'') to 130 in about a month and a half.

Good luck! *end long post*

I want to point out, OP, that if you're going to commit to a diet plan such as this, you really need to get to lifting. Right now it isn't so much that you don't eat enough, but don't exercise enough. Lift more weights, do SQUATZ. Kettlebells are fun, and more dynamic than barbells or machines, so try and incorporate them into your lifting routine.

I wouldn't say pyramids are great for building mass. More for stabilizer muscles and for putting on lean muscle. Nothing beats heavy weights for mass, nothing.
