If you, say, eat a quarter of a salad in the morning, afternoon, and then dinner with that last quarter as a snack somewhere, you will find yourself hungrier more often. After a while you'll move up to a half a meal, etc etc blah blah.
As for the water thing I said, you're probably scratchin yer pretty head wondering what I mean. The gist of it is, the less water you drink, the more of said water is stored in your ass, hips and thighs for use later incase you start starving [like you are]. Drink moar water, and the stored water gets flushed out through your piss, and your body metabolizes better because of the increased hydration, which in turns ALSO makes you hungrier moar often.
