Eat before or after running?

I hear conflicting reports with one side saying that with no food in you your tap into your glycogen stores quick and go straight to fat burning while other reports say that they will go for the muscle before going for the fat.

Are your reports from 4chon? Those don't count

Both occur, it simply matters what your goal is.

If it is to lose a large amount of fat, running on an empty stomach may be optimal. You have to be careful that since cardio in general burns muscle, while being starved AND doing cardio causes more rapid fat and muscle loss.

The thing is though, muscle raises the metabolism, and you usually want to retain as much as possible.

SOLUTIONZ

Run on empty stomach ti fat is down the way you'd like.

Then run on empty stomach.

Also, muscle loss may be avoided by eating lean protein afterwards.

Holy shit, does the protein travel back in time and save the muscle from being burned?

Eat a little protein beforehand. This spares the muscle and still allows your body to burn fat.

If your goal is fat loss you should wait about 30 mins after cardio to eat as well.

It doesn't really fucking matter. You'll burn fat either way.

Eating empty stomach is bullshit, won't even bother to copy/pasta urls for you. Don't eat so much that you would vomit it. Eat enough you don't die after an hour of cardio. If you run less than 45 minutes, don't run.
