It's simple, you get what you train for. If you train 5 reps, you'll get better at lifting heavy stuff for 5 reps. This is for greater strength. If you train for 10 reps, you'll get better at lifting heavy stuff for 10 reps. This is for more endurance in lifting. You won't be able to lift as much as with 5x5, but'll get more stamina.
