Sup /g/

I just realised this morning that i REALLY need to bulk up. Problem is, Im too poor to afford weights.

So, I thought, so why make my own?

1. find a 5 gallon bucket
2. Fill it with sand/water
3. ????
4. profit?

Any other DIY weights you can think of that are somewhat compact?

Try water first. 5 gallons of water is roughly 45 pounds. 5 gallons of sand weighs roughly 65-70 pounds.

Start small then work up.

1. Go to Home Depot.
2. Get a solid metal pipe.
3. Get 8 standard 16x24 inch sandbags.
4. Fill them with sand.
5. Tie as many to the pipe as you see fit (one 16x24 holds 50 lbs.) with belts or rope
6. Lift.
7. Eat.
8. ????
9. Profit!

Who cares? If people respond to this thread seriously, lots of other po' folks might still be able to use this info, even if the thread was intended to be a troll.

Watch craigslist in your area like a hawk. There's always somebody offloading free shit, and all you need is a bar and some plates. Building your own squat rack is easy enough (basically two metal posts about 42-48 inches apart with crossbars so it doesn't tip over).

>How to Make and Use a Shovelglove

>Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes.
>Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays.

For light weights, use big cans of soup.

My friend was a ghetto weight lifter. He got some paint buckets, got an old metal bar, and put it in the buckets and filled them with concrete.

He ended up getting a real job and bought real weights, but he still has it and loves it.

Holy shit, that's what those were. I recall seeing a bunch of those used as doorstops at this one sketchy looking gym.
