sup /fit/, so Lasik Eye Surgery?

anyone here had it done?

I'm considering it but I've been told constantly that being 20 is waaay too young for it, but my vision is fucking awful and I hate having to wear glasses 24/7, ontop of that I have TMJ which however little the glasses may weigh it makes a huge difference in pain levels if I feel like shit from one day to another

anyway yea need opinions about this shit itt

Not to sound like a smartass, but what about contacts?

Got mine done at 25, best thing I've ever bought for myself.

Seriously, the next two hours after you get out of surgery, as you see your surroundings steadily get clearer and clearer is one of the most awesome things ever.

Ask yourself if it's worth the risk of being permanently blind if they fuck up somehow.

Also, ask yourself why you shouldn't just get two month soft contacts. Easy to put in, instant 20/20 vision for me, they stay in for two months straight. You just need to eyedrop once a week or so to keep the proteins from hardening. I even stretch out their lifespan to 3+ months without a vision impairment.

Way easier and cheaper than surgery.

How bad is your vision? Mine goes to shit half a foot away from my face. I can't recognize people.

My vision isnt that bad, can read 1 inch text at around 8ft. I've thought about getting this but what is the chance of blindness?

wat 2 month contacts?

I just hated messing w/ contacts all during the day and taking them out at night, but that doesnt sound bad at all

Pretty sure he means keeps them for 2 months then uses new ones? never heard of contacts you keep in for more than a night, if anything most eye docs will tell you it can cause headaches or be bad for your vision if you sleep with them in

I'm not the OP, but I have astigmatisms in both eyes, and contacts for astigmatic eyes have only recently started becoming somewhat affordable. That said, I like wearing glasses. I wouldn't want to risk blindness with Lasik, and I don't want the hassle of contacts.

eye surgery sounds MUCH scarier than it really is. my dad had it done, and while he had complications (which are fairly rare), they were resolved easily. he still needs glasses for reading, but he's really happy with the results.

do your research, find a good surgeon if you decide to go through with it, and you will be fine.

"Has Anyone Ever Gone Completely Blind from Their LASIK Procedure?

No. In over 1.7 million cases done worldwide, no one has ever gone completely blind from a LASIK or PRK procedure, although you can lose a significant amount of vision if the procedure is not performed correctly."

my dad and brother have both had this surgery

my brother is 21 and was amazed at what he could see after he had the surgery he had no idea his eye sight had deteriorated as much as it had.

go for it dude

the only way to go completely blind is to remove the entire eye -- detection of light and darkness will occur no matter how badly the scarring of the cornea is.

Nice weasel-wording from a biased source you've got there.

I had it 2 weeks ago and I just turned 20 in July. I got the PRK one.

I could function without glasses but couldn't wear contacts because my astigmatism was over 4.
