It's very important that you choose an alternative because if you don't, stress is just going to accumulate until you give into your temptation, and consume junkfood.
Also, be sure to reward yourself when you forego opportunities to eat junkfood.
If you're addicted, you probably can't just quit instantaneously. You'll need to gradually decrease your intake of junkfood over a period of time.
