Alright /fit/,

I'm looking for the best way to drop some weight quickly. In a healthy way of course. I'm going to be a bridesmaid in a month and want to lose some weight beforehand. I need some good weekly routines to stick to. After the wedding I will continue to get /fit/, but right now I want to focus on looking better in my dress.

tl;dr - your best weight loss routines

Pic related, it's my long-term goal.

There are no ways to lose a lot of weight in a month that are particularly healthy. Sorry.

I understand that. I'm not looking to lose a large amount of weight. Just trying to maximize my results in the amount of time that I have.

HIIT every other day.

I know this is /fit/'s answer to everything, but anything else? (inb4 squats).

Damn, I would go bi for her. Thanks for the extra motivation

reducing sodium intake a couple days b4 will decrease water retention in your cells and make you just a bit skinnier.

this is going to sound trite and overstated, but compound exercies like squats, deadlifts, military presses, bent rows that work out many muscles at once will turn you into a thermogenic fat burning machine provided you complement the routine with a good diet and brutal intensity. You have to really WANT this.

Brutal intensity of the exercises, of the amount and frequency that they are done, or both?

So do you recommend cardio one day, compound exercises the next?

OP, if you're aiming to look like an athlete, then obviously you'll need to adopt an athletic lifestyle. I wouldn't focus on this as a long-term goal just yet. Worry about weight-loss in the meantime, and then see where you want to go from there.

For weight-loss, just monitor your calories, what you eat versus what you burn. The object is to consume less calories than you burn per day, thus redirecting your body to burn its own fat. (but within a sensible limit) What you could do is just eat more naturally (raw fruit and vegetables dishes, such as salads and soups, for example) and be consistent with any sensible exercise program. Just walking 40 minutes a day, everyday, is sensible enough. But it is important to remove unnatural elements from your diet, such as soda, high-fructose corn syrup, bottled (non-fresh / hand-squezed yourself) juices, packaged meats, TV dinners, pretty much anything microwavable, freeze-dried, or instant, etc. Start preparing everything by hand with fresh ingredients. Look online for any recipes you need.

Most importantly of all, be consistent with whatever you do. Don't try something for two weeks, decide that your progress is inadequate, and then quit or move onto something else. Any sensible diet works as long as you're consistent and patient. It may take a while to see significant progress, but once you break that barrier, you're home-free.

By the way, squats are pretty easy to do, if you want to take your pick on those kind of exercises. I think it's a lot easier to build yourself up on squats alone, as opposed to struggling with push-ups for a while.

So do you recommend alternating between HIIT and compound exercises everyday (with a rest day), or try doing a bit of both in one day? I know my HIIT won't kill me as much as it should, so if I do one in the morning and the other later on in the day I might not die.

>>374707
I was just going to ask about some diet tips. Thing is, now I'm at school pretty much all day and work a few nights so I'm hardly ever home to have a good meal and don't have time in the morning to make some snacks to bring to school (though there is not too much more I can bring other than fruits/veggies). I tend to eat out since I'm by a mall but try to eat "healthier" fast food (Greek food, salads, wraps etc), and usually end up getting a bagel and chocolate milk from the Tim's in my building.

And of course I read this while downing a big glass of Tropicana.

>>374713
I've done squats before, but find that they mainly just work my quads and not my butt/hamstrings. I think I'm doin it wrong.

I wouldn't get into HIIT just yet, by the way. You don't want to exert yourself too much and make further exercise difficult. HIIT should only be attempted after you've spent some time getting into shape. (better shape, that is)

As for diet, bagels, chocolate milk, and fast food aren't going to help you any. You need to stay away from that stuff. Even Subway. What I would recommend is preparing your meals the night before. You could make something simple like a salad and tomato soup with dark red kidney beans. (very nutritous, and very easy to prepare) Here's a really quick recipe idea: separate a few leaves of baby spinach (however many you want) and add toppings like dressing, shredded carrots, or whatever you normally like on a salad. Stick with light dressing, as pretty much all dressing in general is unhealthy, but it should be okay in moderation. Next, heat up 100% tomato paste, (you can buy this stuff in boxes, but make sure it's 100% tomato paste with NO additives) and a can of dark red kidney beans. Add salt, pepper, or other seasonings as you like. I usually add a bit of chili powder, crushed peppers, onions and that sort of thing. You can just pack these up and put them away in your fridge until you go to school the next morning. They're good hot or cold, and stay pretty fresh in tupperware.

the most you'll lose healthily in a month is 8 lbs, and that's if you do everything right

unless you're a fatty, then more is possible, but you won't look good in a month

seriously, if it were that easy, everyone would work for one month and look good

but it's not that easy, so hardly anyone works at it

You have no idea what you're talking about. Please don't post misinformation.

even if 8lbs is the max you can lose in a month 8 lbs is still noticeable and something to work towards

eat clean OP and exercise 6 days a week

You're going to need to do some heavy duty squatz to get that body.

OP, have you ever tried soy or rice milk? If you like dairy, this is a really healthy alternative to your chocolate milk habbits. =)

Most of this stuff is actually better than real milk, and it's heavily fortified with vitamins for people who have vegan / vegetarian diets.

agreed. be realistic. allison stokke is an olympic athelete. in one month?

but if you watch the yoga videos on youtube/5min most of the women in those are very sleek, slinky even. consider yoga if you just want to look better in the mirror. muscle is heavier than fat, so don't put so much weight on what the scale reads.

Actually, it can be pretty easy. I lost nearly ten kilos (fucked if I'm converting to pounds) in a month. Sure, its not healthy, especially the way I did (do) it, but it is pretty easy.

Yeah, I figured I wouldn't do HIIT right away. And anyways, my version of HIIT isn't as intense as it should be. I think for cardio I'll do some interval training and stick to dancing (inb4 shitstorm) to get accustomed to working myself.

>>374874
This. Geez, guys, I KNOW I'm not going to have a huge impact within a month. I'm not completely ignorant about fitness. Like I said before, I'm just trying to maximize whatever I can get out of a month. I'm not looking for a big change so soon, just something that will be a bit noticeable and make me look and feel better at the wedding.

>>374895
I've really only had soy milk around Easter when I'm fasting but still want to eat cereal. Though I was just walking by a little food kiosk that's in my building at school and they have soy-milk there. I'll try it out.

Personally i'm somewhat in the same boat as OP.
I've got 6 weeks to lose as much weight as possible, and trying to maximize it as much as I can.
According to some calculators my body burns 2500 calories/day by itself, and I alternate between a one hour cardio workout and HIIT every other day.

Trying to eat around 2000 calories/daily, which should put me at -1000 / day and hopefully i'll lose some 12 lbs during this six week interval. After this i'm hoping to be around 9% bodyfat, but if not i'm gonna have to keep going until i'm around this area before I start beefing up.

Either way, what's the real point in doing resistance training to lose weight? I don't really understand it. I was under the impression that you can't build muscle while burning fat, so wouldn't resistance trainining just fuck up your muscle without having the energy to rebuild it?

My weight loss routine:

- Don't eat ANYTHING that isn't essential for your body to function properly.
- Cardio

I dropped 30 pounds this way, and relatively quickly too. Roughly 2 months, though I can't really remember because I wasn't keeping track of anything. I just hopped on a scale one day and noticed I wasn't fat anymore.
