/fit/ what's the best way to gain strength? Not bloated muscles, but just strength. What's the proper way to go about it, doing exercises slowly or doing them a bit faster?
>> JESUS !vBOFA0jTOg
High weights and under 5 reps.

High weight, low reps.

they both do the same thing, its just how much they stress the muscle that makes a difference. (the weight)

Question about pushups:

what's the better way of doing them, arms next to the body or a bit out?

hands close together work (SURPRISE) triceps. Farther out = more chest.

Seriously, it's like people don't even think before asking stupid questions.

OP, str is from high weight, low reps. the speed of the exercise is determined from what exercise you're doing, and the muscle group utilized; for example, skullcrushers should be done as fast as possible, triceps are a fast twitch muscle. I alwasy just try to do the exercise as fast as i possibly can anyways, since i do a lot of weight and anything less than my best would be preparing for failure, but to each his own, even if you're going to be a pussy faggot dealing with a little teeny bit of weight so much so that you can vary the speed of the lift

>bloated muscles

yeah, because you're gonna get those really fast, too.

And another question, crunches or situps?

it's not the exercise, it's how much you tense. I guarantee you I get more out of 5 minutes of abs than other people who do like a thousand crunches. Do abs slowly, long, full range of motion, tense as hard as you can both on the way up and on the way down. Crunches suck compared to full on sit ups in this fashion. Don't be that one that just bursts up really fast. Take it slow, take it hard. Abs rae the only thing you really wanna do like this, seeing as how you're not really doing any weight and you're not exactly stimulating hypertrophy with abs

I see, thanks for all the info!

Ignore >"Crunches suck compared to full on sit ups"

Crunches do more for your abs than sit ups do, and bicycle crunches do even more so than both.

figure out which muscle group contract with different movement. When do your laterals contract? When you raise your arms. What type of push-ups require you to raise your arm?
