Even a little alternating calisthenics routine would be good. As you lose weight you want to add healthy lean muscle too. That will increase your metabolism and make you look better.

I'm a skinny guy and I have the remembering to eat problem too. Basically you have to keep it on your mind consistently for a long time. You will have periods of success and failure, but you will train yourself to remember to eat. It helps a lot to spend a bit of time reading about nutrition each week. You should start a food journal too. Record everything you eat for a few months.
