So I can't breathe.

for the past 3 weeks, ive been very short of breath. Every time I'm about to reach the threshold of taking a deep breath, it stops. It's extremely frustrating. Add to that uncontrollable yawning, and I'm starting to be driven mad.

I went to the doctor two weeks ago, and she checked me out and claimed that my lungs were inflamed due to most likely allergies, and gave me some medicines (Pro Air inhaler, Symbicort inhaler, and singulair) which haven't done shit two weeks later.

so i went yesterday again and told her that I still can't fucking breathe.

she took blood, gave me an EKG (which turned out fine) and referred me to a pulmonologist and told me to get a chest X-ray which i'll be doing here in a few hours.

what the fuck do you think this is?
I smoke pot but I haven't since this shit started, and besides, pot doesnt really do this to people, especially people who don't smoke very much at all, like me.

i'm flipping out here, help.

You fucking idiot, smoking anything has carcinogenic effects even pot. The difference retards will tell you about pot not being as bar as cigarettes is because you typically don't light up a join as often as a chain smoker would light up a cigarette unless you're going to some sort of session or you're horrifically addicted to pot and can't possibly exist in a state that isn't stoned. If your Doctor asks you do you smoke she doesn't just mean fucking cigarettes, she means smoke ANYTHING AT ALL with ANY frequency, this includes pot numbnuts. Enjoy your lower lobe cancer.

You have Hyperventilation, in simple terms you are simply over breathing and your manual breathing is over complicating things. You don't need medication you just need someone to teach you how to control your breathing, I'm not sure where you live but there should be at least one place that has a breathing/respiratory specialist around.

It is purely psychological and to do with muscle memory, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, you just have to be re-trained to breathe from the diaphram rather than the chest. When you inhale to the chest the breath you take will feel empty and won't feel 'complete' (it won't feel like you had a good ol' breathe in, like you stopped short). It will probably make you light headed too.

This is becuase you likely have too much oxygen in you, the norm is around 96%, you could have around 99% which is far too much, you may also have to little if you have trouble breathing when you sleep.

Re. yawning, this is just psychological. It is because you are breathing from your chest, rather than your diaphram. When you soon learn to breathe from the diaphram automatically the yawnings will stop because a) you aren't freaking out because you think you aren't getting enough oxygen when, really, you are probably taking too much in and b) your brain and blood has a stable amount of oxygen.

If you have time google Hyperventilation and "Dinah Bradley", she is an amazing woman with great insight on this symptom, there may even be tips and tricks online but I would strongly suggest you learn from someone who can watch how you are breathing.

Hope this helps.

OP here. interesting post, but could hyperventilation last this long? ive never had this before, and the doctor asked if i had been undergoing stress or anxiety lately and i said no, not really, which is the truth.

the deep-breathing that takes place while smoking cannabanoids can cause Emphysema. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emphysema]

No cure but if you stop now it may not get any worse.

Bear in mind none of us here are qualified docs I would think.

>my lungs were inflamed due to most likely allergies

my friend, you most likely have silicosis.
cause; your dealer is a chep scumabg who shook your skunk for crystals, sold them on for a few cents (so some rich dickspot can get a little hash-mmm hash) then, to cover the fact that your bud is now crap, covered it with whatever whiteish powder he could find to make it look all resiny again-most likely, sand.
result; when you've been smoking up, you've been inhaling hot particles of silicon dioxide directly into your lungs, which has essentially raped them.
be glad that you're not coughing blood. yet.

tl,dr; dodgy bud.

stop spewing your miss-informed conservative drug hate on OP. if he wants to smoke pot, he'll smoke pot, and if he asks for help or a smidge of basic human decency, either shut the fuck up or help him. Don't scoff at him because he has a slightly different moral code to you, or that he's prepared to do mild amounts of damage to his body in exchange for a little fun-we're not all uber-dieting, clean-living nerdy health freaks, some of us actually take a few risks and have fun.

this isn't /b/ for fuck's sake.

not OP.
I've only smoked pot once and the thing didn't have a filter and since it was my first (and only) time, most of the times I inhaled I would feel shit in the back of my throat.
Is this bad?

unlikely. the thing about smoke is, its kinda hot. your throat should feel a little burn (or at least, its going to-unless you shell out for a vap). besides, using a filter would have been a hilarious waste of money and bud.

>since it was my first (and only) time

JEEZ. relax. smoking pot ONCE will not give you cancer/Emphysema/psychosis.
fucking fear culture.
