Question from a Pale Chick Bunny
Alright /fit/, got a question for you

I'm pale, really pale. Except for my arms, 'cause I wear a lot of short sleeves and tanktops. But every other part of my body is so white you can see my veins. I also thought it wasn't such a big deal, but since starting to eat healthier and workout, I think I'd rather be a little darker, basically just enough to be even all over

Now here w/in lays my problem. I'm a full-time college student and 30+ hours a week worker. So I doubt I've have much time to lay in the sun anyway, but since I live on campus, theres nowhere TO lay out (at least, not w/out risking getting beer thrown on you) I have a convention I'll be attending near the end of May and I plan to wear a skirt (everyday wear is always pants) so I'd really like to get darker before then (and I'm stuck in school till the end of June), so all I can think of is going to a tanning bed. But to be honest, they scare the crap out of me; I'm scared I'll burn myself and/or get hurt (bit catastrophic) But I think if someone can tell me what to do (what settings, how long, etc) I should be able to handle it. So, I guess what I want to ask is should I go for the tanning bed or no? If so, how long and how often? (again, I don't want to dark, just even, a healthy color)

i jerked off over the pic lol.

Need pics of you to decide
>> Anonymous
No. Do not go to the tanning bed. Do not lay out in the sun. Do not use those tanning creams.

Stay pale. Pale skin is sooo much more beautiful. This obsession with tan skin is a fad that will pass, I assure you.

What he said. Pale chicks are hot.

Skin tone isn't a factor if you have nice skin.

White pasty skin + bad skin is not pretty. Bad skin can sometimes be hidden, to some level, by having darker skin.

If you have nice pale skin, or dark, doesn't really matter imo. Maybe the health concerns with tanning, but thats up to you to decide. I always thought it was too much of a bother.

Photo of my left arm and leg (sorry its crappy angle and whatnot, no one here I can ask to take one for me and my camera has no timer) To me, it looks like they're from two separate people

>>59394
I don't want to be tan, just not so pale I look sick. The photo I just took was taken not ten minutes after shaving, but my legs are so pale it looks horrible. I enjoy pale skin myself, but too pale looks gross

ASK AT THE TANNING SALON FFS, THEY KNOW HOW LONG YOU SHOULD GO BASED ON YOUR SKIN TYPE.

(15 minutes, do it 3-4 times with a week between each session)
>> Anonymous
on sunny days go for a 30 minute walk
once you do it several times, youll lose the pale. prob not be TAN, but you wont look like a ghost
>> Anonymous
op would do good with some light tanning

it will even out your skintone

pale skin is only really hot if its very even and blemish free

just ask the people at the tanning salon, they won't fry you

stubbly leg is stubbly

I wish my skin was blemish free, but its not. And I've always been a little wary about asking the tanning salon, as I know their job is to get to you to buy the products and more time (and none of my friends tan so I can't ask them) Thats the main reason I came here to ask first

Not stubby, its actually smooth to the touch, I just shaved; I'm just that pale ^^;

Just use the spray tan crap. The new stuff doesn't turn you orange and it's pretty much instant and last for a couple weeks.
>> Anonymous
Just spend more time outdoors woman. Go for a walk or something.
>> Anonymous
dont go sit in a skin cancer bed, and dont waste your time with stupid fucking spray on tans

just spend 20-30 minutes reading, walking, whatever, outside in the sun when its a nice day. youll lose your pale after awhile. easy as pie.

I have the same problem, hate tanning beds, but have pale skin where my veins show through.
I HIGHLY recommend L'oreal Sublime Glow. You can start with the fair or go straight to medium.

It's a moisturizer, you just put it on every morning (let it dry a little before you put clothes on) and it starts to work in only a day or 2. I use the fair and I'm now even and healthy looking and moving onto the medium when this tube is gone.

use that jergens glow shit.

DO IT.

The only issue I have w/ the walking is the parts of my body that will still be covered. I do not own a single pair of shorts and to get the majority of the areas on my body, I'd basically have to walk around in a bikini
>> Anonymous
>>59456
Obviously the answer is to walk around naked and then post pics on /b/.
>> Bunny
>>59459
Wondered how long it would take for someone to say that. Good thing I'm not an idiot (if walking around nude wasn't illegal I could get my whole body skin tone even easy)

I have the same problem.

Be lucky that you're not a nigger.

Pale is beautiful, learn how to wear it right.

Ok first of all I have to agree that pale skin is pretty. Hell, I'll even tell you I like goth chicks probably more than I should.

I've made the choice between pale/unevenly tanned vs slightly 'healthier looking' tan myself recently, though I'm a guy. I just got fed up with the whole unevenly toned skin thing that looks horribly ill under some light and my face looking like I never sleep. Because you're a girl I'll have to repeat once more that pale skin is pretty.

Ok, so I did the tanning bed thing to at least have a more evenly coloured skin under various lighting conditions...

They started with a short skin type measurement, as I already guessed I had skin type 2. You'll probably have 2 as well, maybe even 1. The lower the number the more you need to build up the dosage of UV over time with short sessions. They'll suggest you a schedule of sessions.

My sessions:

11 minutes, wait 3 days, 14 minutes, wait 3 days, 14 minutes, wait 3 days.

After this still always leave one day in between sessions. Continued:

17 minutes, 17 minutes, 22 minutes, 22 minutes.

Here I could either switch to a more intense tanning bed model or continue with 2x25 and then do 30 every time. I chose to try the more intense one for 14 minutes, which I have done twice.

By now I can see a clear difference. In no way do I look tanned though, I still look paler than most of my friends, especially under white/sunlight but at least not deathly ill. I'll probably go two more times this week to round it up.

Things to keep in mind:
- nobody cares if you keep your panties on or not. keeping them on is going to give silly results.
- change on what side of your body you lay halfway through each session or you're going to look very silly.
- your legs will probably stay paler than the rest of your body, though maybe someone has an idea for fixing this.
- it's going to take a whole bunch of sessions to get anywhere so don't worry about suddenly having very dark skin, you'll see the result build up slowly and clearly.

PROTIP: All UV tanning damages skin cells. Enjoy your premature aging and possible skin cancer.

Yeah stay inside your whole life or you might die. Oh wait.

Thanks for all that, looks very helpful. And it sounds like it'll get me the results I'm looking for

The sun radiates UV. So long as you burn yourself all the time, you should be okay (again, I'm not looking to "tan" all the time)
>> Anonymous
Actually, no. The very worst thing you can do for yourself is get a sunburn. Overexposure to UVA and B rays is one thing, but when skin cells are as heavily damaged as they are when you suffer a sunburn the risk of developing cancer is MUCH greater. Don't believe me? Here.

ffs, don't go to a tanning bed. Those peoples' skin is going to fall off by the time they're 50.

Get the safe amt of sun, and nothing more. If you have a fair complexion, it will be even worse. Also, don't expect to get practically black like some other girls. They're just asking for skin cancer.

Or she could just paint herself orange. Looks awful.
