If your skinny, you don't need supplements, other than eating healthy.
Vitamins are good though.

how come all you gym noobies take so much protein shakes and other stuff?
you could all start without 'em and still gain same results if you'd just eat properly.

I'm actually trying mass xxx from GNC. Whey protein shake (vanilla) that tastes like rich cake sprinkled with crushed aspirin. 50G protein hundreds of complex carbs and over 1000 calories total make for a good post-workout chug. I'm thinking I may move to soy protein because of how it can keep your body busy breaking down for hours on end, instead of whey coming in and going through in like, a half an hour.

I supplement with shakes because I find it hard to take in enough calories. I'm eating about the same amount and taking in a good 700-1000 calories extra from shakes.

Couldn\'t be farther from the truth.

Depending on what your goals are, if you are just working out for the exercise then you are right, you dont need much supplements and could just get by on a normal diet.
If you are working out to get big and see results within a couple weeks then you would benefit from supplementation.
The average protein intake for someone trying to gain mass is 1 gram of protein for every pound of their weight, and theres no fucking way can you get that from a normal diet. Unless you like eating chicken breasts 24/7.

Supplements are for fags too weak to do things correctly.

Yeah, thats true.
Its just that most of us are either too lazy or dont have the resources to get what we need from natural sources.
