Dear /fit/,

How do people get fat?

I know the basic mechanics and thermodynamics, but every overweight person I know is on an extremely restrictive 'diet' -- one which, if I followed it, would turn me into a skeleton.

They skip meals, eat vegetables, and, while they don't get much exercise, they are outdoors more than I ever am.

Do fat people lie about how much they eat, or do they not notice snacking, or calories in beverages? Or is body type completely based on genetics?

It's cause those "diets" they are on....don't work.
Proper nutrition + exercise = no longer obese.

Also, I laugh hard whenever they say "Well I only eat 2 meals a day, and I drink diet cola...why am I fat? :("

All fat people lie and compromise themselves by finding easy ways out. Also, the only people that ever buy into gimmicks are fat people.

they quite often lie about what they eat, also their activity levels. on the off--chance they actually find a healthy diet/activity combo, they don't stick to it. there are quite often a collection of psychological issues involved with being obese that the person might not even be aware of (not that this excuses anything).

diets are counterproductive. Fat fucks are just slowing their metabolism down by skipping meals and cutting cals, and when they inevitably give up and stuff their face with McDs, it'll hit them even harder because of their slowed metabolism.

I try to explain this to friends who complain about having slow metabolism, and having unwanted fat.

But they are like "Oh..I'm gonna go on a diet"

Then I facepalm, and tell em "What did I just say!?! I hope you grow fat"
