Trendspotting: Women tend to work out with partners or in groups, men tend to work out alone after they've got the ropes and don't need a spotter.

I question why this is the case.
>> Anonymous
Because men and women are different.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
>>22928

That's sexist.
>> Anonymous
>>22939
Yet not necessarily untrue.
>> Anonymous
If women go with other women, they feel more competitive to do better and eventually be more in shape than their friends, so they will work harder at the gym.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
>>22949

Well that's kind of true when I go to workouts with the rest of the asians.
>> Yoshi ?
>>22953
HAHAHA Garrett? Jeremi? Clifford? Cyran? That you?
Because I work out with a bunch of asians. And we compete hardcore to be the best also.
>> Anonymous
It's like the bathroom thing. Women need support for EVERYTHING.
>> Anonymous
I'm a dude, and I prefer to work out in as isolated a location as possible so that I cangrunt and strain and yell involuntarily without feeling sheepish about myself. People being around me is always kind of a distraction and I need to concentrate in order to do my best.

>>22953
>>22960
Why are you asians always so competitive? I know some super acheiving white guys, but for them it's more of a solitary perfectionist thing, rather than a group competition thing.
>> Yoshi ?
>>22993
Well, a group of 6 of us(all of us just happen to be at least half Asian) were just friends with different goals in mind. Whether it be fitness, size, or power. We keep each other motivated, and it's friendly competition.
I all too often see people working out by them selves with their headphones on blasting trying to work out hard. But usually they are the ones that have the worst form and technique. They also tend to progress the slowest because they don't have any one to help push them.
It's not just Asians bro, people that work out in groups generally do better.

Men work alone?

The weightlifting places here wont let you lift without a spotter, they don't want to be liable for you dropping 300lbs on your chest/neck.
>> Anonymous
>>23020

What liability fascist gym do you go to?
>> Anonymous
I'm a guy and I workout with a friend of mine generally. I like to have a spotter I can actually rely on so that I can go heavier than I would normally be able to.
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>22968
You're pretty naive aren't you?
We don't need support; that's when we talk shit behind your back.
But in all honesty, I find it weird when my girl friends want me to go to the bathroom with them. I never make them come along. WTF?

And where I work out, all the chicks are alone (unless they have a friend next to them on the treadmill) and the dudes have a buddy to spot them.
>> Anonymous
I'm a girl and I prefer to go to the gym alone. One of my male friends tags along with me on Sundays because I'm trying to get his fat ass less fat and it's usually my least fulfilling work out of the week.

I stopped working out with one of my guy friends. He got WAY too creepy with me when I was stretching.

Women are always suprised to learn this but: There are no men who do not want to fuck you. If we go workout with you/do anything at all ever with you, we are using it as a chance to seduce you into getting naked with us.
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23050
Oh, I'm not surprised at all, but he goes from this ever faithful-to-his-girlfriend older brother figure to a literal sexual deviant.
We've been friends for years (since freshmen year of highschool) and the moment he sees me at the gym he's like a horny dog.
Once again, not surprised, just grossed out.

aint no fuckin' wimminz in my gym.

When I'm in the zone I don't like to be distracted, chief.

Women go in groups because they can't just stop yapping their goddamn mouths even during physical exertion.
>> Anonymous
It's probably true, I've always worked out on my own, and it took me a way long ass time to understand the differences in workout types, and sometimes I use weights that are too light, but there's nobody to talk me into adding 10 or 20 pounds so I don't alwasy gain as much as I could.
>> Juggy
>>23062
Please tell me you're female.

And I would always work out with a buddy if I had the choice. Having a spotter allows you to increase your limits way faster than without.

The strongest I've ever been in my life was when I was working out with a spotter for 3 months straight. Being able to max out to failure without worrying about a 300lbs bar falling on your head is huge, and it allowed me to pack on muscle unbelievably fast.

Unfortunately I'm intimidating and shy, so no more spotters for me.
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23100
Yeah, I'm a girl.

I would love to workout with someone, but they either want to goof around or do half-assed workouts.
Did anyone here watch Shaq's Big Challenge? I worked out with Kit personally, but she gradually became less and less enthusiastic about working out... She doesn't go to the Y anymore and word has it from a mutual friend, she's morbidly obese again :(

Almost all women are programmed all their lives to be social, whereas most men are very much not. Question...COMPLETE.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
Whenever I go work out with a chick I take pains to not be creepy and focus on getting buff.

Dunno if 'clearly trying to not be creepy' counts as creepy.

As long as you're not sitting on a bench and watching said girl stretch like you're an audience member, then you're good. You have some shame.

Holy shit, 3 Hammerknife posts in one thread with 0 mentions of steak! Goddamn, that's a new record.

Wait, what the shit? Just sitting on a bench and not doing anything = epic faggotry at a gym.

Fact: You should feel ashamed of yourself if you look at a woman.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2

It's one thing to appreciate the figure, it's another to stop your own workout. I can visually disrobe women all day by standing around town, but I go to the gym to TRAIN.
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23143
Lol, don't remind him! I want to see how far this goes!

>>23147
Epic faggotry? Lol, more like uninhibited heterosexuality.

Fact: We should wear burkas. It's our hair's fault we tempt you to rape us.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
>>23153

Ok, fine, I use 'faggotry' in it's insulting form, not in it's implication of homosexuality form.

Maybe it should just be 'asshattery'. So if you're at the bench and not working out, you're an asshat.
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23171
Agreed. I posted that as my gym-related pet peeves.
Don't just fucking sit on the bench in you're not doing anything on it! OH, THE IRONY OF LAZINESS AT A GYM!

Trust me, we look everywhere but at your hair. We'll notice if you get your tits done, get bigger/smaller tits/ass/belly but we'll never notice a new hair cut. (Unless you cut it at shoulder's length and dye it pink.)

WHOA WHOA WHOA! Wait a second...
Are you saying you were on that TV show?
How come you were working with one of the kids?
Were you one of the experts?
There's only one woman expert, and her name is Joy.
>> Anonymous
They go just looking for attention even while on their treadmills. You can spot them (or they spot you first) with really skimpy outfits usually with a fat friend or two, making comments on how you workout and giggling.

sometimes its distracting but w/e
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23601
No, I wasn't on the show nor am I an expert.
Here's what happened:
I'm at the YMCA and I run into my friend and his mom. We're talking in the hallway, Kit passes by and my friend's mom grabs her going "OMG, you're from Shaq's Big Challenge!"
Later, my friend she and I get to talking about all sorts of weeaboo shit (she's a big Narutard. I'm not, but we still had a lot in common)
We spent the whole day together playing tag on the track and ever since then we would meet up and workout together. She even came to my birthday party.
Anyways, when I had met her, the show had aired it's 3rd episode and finished filming a month before. Kit had lost 20lbs (the least of the kids) but was determined to keep losing the weight. But like I said before, she gained it back :(
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23630
Sorry, nevermind. After researching the show, she lost 27 and some other kid lost 25. Still...

I am a woman, but I go alone because all my friends are fucking LAZY and don't want to go with me! And when I tell them I am working out, they tease/make fun of me.

I need to find some fit friends.
>> Anonymous
>>23174

I need to take breaks in between sets because even though I run 4 miles every other day, lifting really seems to make my cardiovascular system go nuts. Can I sit on the bench then?

Anyone else get more out of breath than muscle fatigued after a set? It's annoying me bawwww.
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
>>23657
We are your fit friends. Hiiii friend! ^_^
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ

If you're sweating after pumping out a few sets, I don't bat an eyelash. But when a dude is spotting his friend by sitting on the neighboring bench, THAT annoys me.
But only if I'm gonna use it...

was running the practice mile in pe, and i thought i was going fast, but then some random hispanic kid ran up next to me and started yelling "dame mas gasolina" so i chased him and ended up with a 1.5 minute better time. then the next week he didnt do it and i was back to running shitty again. competition and support really help.

in an unrelated note, when did girls get on the internet? last time i checked (yes i a m a btard) there were no girls on the internet, yet there appear to be a handful in this thread. what gives?

Working out in groups makes it highly competitive at least. You work out harder because you don't want to look like an idiot. :)

and considering im in a room by myself, they are not. btw, that "dame mas gasolina" thing is a true story

And I believed your "gasolina" story. Where are you btw? Obviously somewhere where Spanish is understood easily enough.
