hey /fit/
I'm a 6'1 female who only weighs 132 lbs, and I was wondering what the best way to start working on gaining some muscle is?

I've started running and doing crunches and pushups, but I can't go to the gym that often since it's pretty far away. My diet right now is a mix of healthy things and junk food, but since I never seem to put on fat I've never been concerned about what I eat.

Pic not me but sort of related.

Start here (good read):

http://www.linear-software.com/tracey_bio.html

You're entire home can be used to exercise. If you want to lift weights, find something small and heavy to use. Eventually get a medicine ball and lightweight dumbbells.

Besides that, get a routine going, always vary your exercises and get plenty of rest. The story above has a link for exercise and it's a nice routine to start with.

Always keep in mind, your body is your own. You'll eventually fine tune your exercise as you learn ^_^

Good luck.

I recommend in addition to increasing muscle mass, you should also gain some fat, too. Your weight is low and unhealthy. Gain 10 lbs of fat, plz. The greater the cushin the sweeter the pushin.

Ignore the little boys here. They've never seen a naked woman before.

Anyway on topic: Lift heavy, eat lotsa protein, sleep well. Use whey shakes after workout.
Whey protein rules!

OP here,
I'd like to put on a little fat if I could but no matter how much fatty food I eat my metabolism destroys it. Besides eating more protein to work on muscles, is there something that will add to my body fat in a good way?

pfft 6' 1" and 132?

6' 3" and 130, male. My arms are two dimensional. Not proud of it, but i figure i need to start winning freak contests eventually

Your height and weight are, IMO, just fine, I prefer your build. I'd do you.

But if you want to gain muscle and add some tone? If you really can't get to a gym at all, buy a set of free weights, starting at two 5lb dumbells and ending at about 25lb. Thats 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25. Look online for dumbbell exercises and do those.

Limit the junk food, eat meat and fish and eggs, boost your diet. Drink water. Get naked and post your pics.

if you want to gain some fat eat more carbs

just curious, how old are you OP? Your metabolism will slow as you get older...
>> Anonymous
with your kind of metabolism and wanting to put on fat, you might want to consider not working out at all. alternatively focus on whatever gains you can get as advised already

20, I know I don't have that much longer to enjoy this blessing so I want to start getting into good habits now.
