/fit/ I have trouble staying disciplined with my workout regiment. Specifically meeting my running goals. Some days I just am not feeling it, and only run about a quarter or half my usual distance(3mi). I try to push myself on and it works for a while but eventually I cave and walk the rest of the way.

Any tips for keeping up with it and completing my 3mi all the time instead of just half? I usually run further than that when I'm angry or have stuff on my mind, but if I'm in a good mood...exercise just doesn't get done as much.

I've found that exercising with someone else is the best motivation. Not a friend, because you can flake out, but a coworker of someone in a class with you that you know kind of well but would feel bad canceling on.

That said, making workouts a habit is very important. You need to do it often enough to the point where if you skip a day you feel physically worse for it.

Punish your self. If you stop, slap yourself, then run an extra mile. Or listen to music, like put some shit songs first, so you are running to reach those good songs you want to hear.

I find wokring out with someone, at least at the gym, makes me go slower, and I don't push my self as hard. I don't knwo though, everyone seems to like the buddy system.

Agreed that it can go slower with someone. Part of the discipline is just in getting there. I know at least for myself, if I make it to the gym, then I sure as hell am going to work my ass off while I'm there.

The buddy system is good, yes, but motivation seems to be different for everyone anyway. Some folks are there to chat, some are there to work. But hey, as long as I'm there.

I'm kinda the same way. I try to work out three days a week, but sometimes I end up only doing two or one days because I'm not feeling up to it.

Have to force myself to go to the gym sometimes.
