nah, that's not the point, league develops stamina by a huge amount, though i don't know much about American football, am i right in saying you get quite a few breaks? Even so, when you have a high stamina, you can go longer and put more effort into tackling/driving and what you call blocking. Also, rugby puts things back to the bare essentials of tackling and driving as its very unlikely youll get like half a dozen people try tackle you at once, but there will be times where you do and those times you can try yourself at dragging a few people. Not a very helpful post i know, but rugby league could help with your american football

A.football doesn't require the stamina rugby requires especially that his position is on an Oline.

In rugby props need to be there to push and protect the ball, but in A.football since it allows players to line up at every scrimmage there's not that much emphasis on the stamina part. It's probably more of a muscle endurance thing rather than cardio. They are trained and expected to move a yard or two and hit others with what they have.

How about asking your coach?

also, when driving, the aim is to gain as many yards as possible; rugby teaches you to pass and move in a way that gains you yards. Look at the NZ rugby team, once they get the ball, they fly down the pitch. Try that instead of running into the players, it may not be as much fun, but it helps win games

College Lineman reporting.

You'll be using quick twitch fibers more then slows twitch which would need to be developed more for rugby. As such, you're going to want explosive exercises. Sprints for short distances. Power cleans are big. Squat and Bench (Shocker, I know). Jammer explosions. Speed ladder. JUMPING ROPE. CORE/AB work (plank, hip ups, v ups, atc.)
