Hi, /fit/. I KNOW it's bad, and that isn't what I'm asking. I'm currently sleeping an average of 12 hours a day. I slept from 10:30 PM to 1:30 AM with 2 hours of being awake in between last night. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me. Why am I sleeping so long, and why is my body not letting me sleep any less? If I set my alarm to wake me up after 8 hours of sleep, I just get insanely tired and pass out again shortly after waking up.

If you sleep too much, your body will be more inclined to sleep more. Try to stay awake, and start moving around more and don't take naps longer than ~30 minutes if you have to nap.

Metabolism, motherfucker, have you heard of it?

When you sleep more than you have to, your body adjusts to sleep more, based on the amount of movement you get while sleeping. If you wake up after 6hours, go running, then take a shower and get ready for work/teachings, then you are on a great path. Eventually, your body will adjust to the extra load and will make 6 hours seem like a great amount of sleep. All you have to do is force yourself to wake up and go out running early. When you do that, you will be on the way to not being able to sleep more than 7hours a day.
So yeah, nothing wrong with you, just get more active earlier and all shall be well.
PEce.

Prior to this problem, I was sleeping 8-9 hours a night [Around 1-2AM through 10-11 AM usually]. I was at the gym for about an hour and a half, 30 minutes to an hour after waking up. All was going well (8-9 hours of sleep) until a few days ago, when I went to bed earlier (10-11 PM) and I slept for about 11 hours. Since then, I've been sleeping 11+ hours a night.

Any reason why this problem started happening?

Also consider allergies. If I eat the wrong foods (or even too much) I'll pass out about an hour later. Not fun when it happens in a meeting.
