Why are you on /fit/?

I started lurking /fit/ while I was working with a personal trainer on losing weight and getting toned.

I had gained 40lbs when I was in a horrible relationship with my exgirlfriend who lived with me. I would drink beer every night and eat fast food at 2am. When I finally broke up with her I realized that I was a fatty fat fat and wanted to do something about.

I started and stopped 2 times before now. I started at 230 and I'm now 215 after 2 months. I need to do more cardio.

what's your story?!

how tall are you? what's your routine?
>> Anonymous
I browse here from time to time cause I used to read a lot of nutrition/bodybuilding articles at T-Nation a couple of years back.

I was a fat guy who lost about 50 lbs across 6 months and I'm kind of in a state of slight gain/maintenance, and I never really got to a satisfying body fat percentage (between 11-14%, not sure exactly).

I'm working on getting down to single digits, and then if I'm too girly looking, slowly gaining muscular weight back until I look more manlike.

6 ft.

I do weights 3 times a week usually..this week I slacked hardcore but didn't overeat. I need to start doing more cardio I enjoy jogging/walking since I quit smoking and my lungs are getting stronger.

here for the lulz

also, /fit/ has me blessing the gods that i will not have to shift through endless tons of ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE misinformation from TOTALLY uneducated shits expressing their opinions as facts because thankfully i am in the private sector

OP here

lulz

you didnt earn it and you seem like total fail

example
usage of the word "TONE" you fag

and focus on 'fat loss' vs FITNESS/HEALTH

skinny or fat, you'll still be a shitbag

the zeitgeist of /fit/ will not steer any n00b/intermediate wrong, lift weights, HIIT, dial in diet, and emphasis on squats/DLz

>>282465
yeah, because with an attitude like that you're really helping the situation. go read a book, fucking ignoramus.
>>282456
i'm going to give you the best advice i can right now, and it's fucking leave this board, seriously. you're not going to find any help here, just obvious trolls and misinformed retards. go read t-nation and use google, and your common sense. good luck. if you want it enough you'll get it.

>>282473
How is this unhelpful?
<the zeitgeist of /fit/ will not steer any n00b/intermediate wrong, lift weights, HIIT, dial in diet, and emphasis on squats/DLz>

just because some unwashed fag begs for help d/n require your White Knight service or ANYONE spoon feeding help to the to most overasked question short of 'how do i get big guns/abs' hell, if you both actually took that advice that i gave, you'd be above 98% of the game

I went to 4chan.org, and saw fit. so i clicked.

Haven't done HIIT yet, it actually worth all the hype? Most of my routine came from a hardass gym teacher back in high school.

t-nation is not my scene..any other forums that are more geared towards..overall fitness and not weightliftig.

i'd stick with /fit/ first then go to bodybuilding.com and tnation

hell just lurk them all if you have the time, bb.com has alot of motivation there in the pic section and alot of good advice

alot of trolls on /fit/ as of late but if you have any common sense you should be fine

whatever makes you nauseous

really

skimping on the science, but the higher the lactic acid, the higher the eventual GH and IGF-1 response, not to metion the increased post exercise oxygen debt

Sounds like a fucking terribly dangerous method of burning off fat, would doing the running on my off days from lifting fuck me up the day after and mess with my lifting?

I started coming here after I tried (and failed) to lose weight. I lost 20 lbs from listening to you guys, and I'm working on getting better tone.

dangerous? whats steady state cardio? whats jogging? do your homework before dropping fallacy filled opinions

in injurys per training hour, weightlifting and powerlifting are 1000s of times 'safer' than basketball or soccer
*yea i know this is relative, but still

also, how dangerous is it to be overweight and completely mediocre in all you do? the body WILL NOT change unless its pushed. you are supposed to feel some 'discomfort' every now and then, otherwise, fat chance @ achieving any systemic adaptation

enjoy your metabolic disease fatty/skiny fatty

I'm on /fit/ for the lulz, to watch scared and insecure fatties try to troll this board.

Also, the hilarious antagonism between some of /fit/ and some of /ck/. I've been on /ck/ for a while, and you know what, they're not all a bunch of a losers who can't cook for themselves and rely on Costco/heavily process and packaged/shitty junkfood. In fact, these queers in the minority.

I also like how they all view us as all meatheads. Yep, we're all bodybuilders here. No distance runners, martial artists, gymnasts, nutritionists, one asshole kinesiologist, power/Olympic lifters, etc at all. Nope, we're all bodybuilders.

I have decent muscle (everyone says that) but am 22% bodyfat. I want to get down between 8 and 12%. My problem is food, obviously. I do good most of the time, but crash off and eat candy at lunch or a bagel in the evening.

I don't know why. I have anger issues. BAAAW I'm so emo. Not really. I just want to lose weight and break things.

Well I hope you're satisfied with that post.

First it was just out of curiosity. Then I came for the lulz like some of you. Mostly for the part where every solution to every question on /fit/ is SQWATS. God I love SWATS.

I've always been at least somewhat of an athelete, either from just being the family workhorse or sports, and always made a point to try to develop a more solid knowledgebase, either by research or just getting out there and doing it. I used 7chan's /fit/ to help fill some gaps in my admittedly spotty fitness knowledge, and pick up some various tips, tricks, and tidbits.

The folk(s?) in charge of 7chan have since abandonded /fit/, so I go here every so often and follow a few threads until I get fed up with the glaring shortcomings that will probably never be improved upon.

What 7chan's /fit/ was before it broke, minus ZCs occasionally uncalled for "because I said so" type administration, and the uneditability of the FAQ (kinda goes against the ever-developing body of knowledge that is health and fitness, but it is a technical limitation, as far as I'm aware) and the poor reception of disputes made to it would = a much more tolerable /fit/.

Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers.

Just one day decided I needed to get fit. So, I stopped drinking soda. Then, I started eating healthier. Lost about five pounds. Bought wiifit. Lost another five. Now, I've been browsing /fit/ for about a week and I'm working out more and more.

Nope more then 2 people

I started doing squats and loved them, this is my routine i've been following for years.

I want to become faster, stronger, tougher.

I feel unimaginable pleasure from my ego, thanks to the fact that I am far, far stronger and faster, then anyone I know irl.

I'm not a body builder thought. My routine is comprised more of 5*15 then 4*8.
