Hey /fit/, I could use some help from the experts out there.

I have a very odd body shape. Large, heavy bones that make me look fatter than I am, and can't seem to reach a happy compromise. My shoulders, ribs and hips are very wide, so I have a big frame no matter what. I'm 5'9", and used to weigh 253. I've lost about 40 pounds since Thanksgiving (next weigh in tomorrow) and I don't know what is left for me to do. Due to genetics, I have a gut. At first I thought I was just being lazy, but by digging through family body history, I figured out that my mother's side ALL have guts, regardless of diet and exercise. My mother it turns out, weighed 93 pounds at her lowest in college, but she still had a belly. It's sad, I know, and I've found toning a gut still leaves me with a gut. I still have what looks like love handles, but you can't grab any flab on them, its just hip and skin basically. I'm working on toning arms and chest now to shed a few more pounds or look better, but I don't know what routine will balance me out best. Currently doing about 3 days a week of 1+ hour exercise, and eat between 1800-2200 daily with a BMR of roughly 2900. I take a multivitamin daily and drink tons of water.

Advice?

stupid sexy joker unrelated.

this is why extremely skinny people tend to have amazing six packs without trying.

you're using a scientific definition relating to 'tonal' muscles or whatever they're called. get your physiology out of here, stalker. i think you're also interpreting it wrong.

err the conventional idea of toning muscle is that your muscle is naturally a blob shape, and working it out cause it to become square shaped, when in reality the more muscle there is, and less fat, more the visible the 'conventional idea of muscle tone' is. so working them out can cause them to look more tone, but you can do the same by loosing weight. like i said earlier, skinny people can have a 'toned' six pack without even trying, but have absolutely no 'tone' in the pectoral muscles because they dont have enough muscle to show through the skin and thin layer of fat. in this scenario, attempting to 'tone' them by working them out would actually show results, not because it changes the shape, but size.
