Me
/fit/
mid teen, obese chick here.
recently got fish oil pills, and I'm wondering how we4ll they could help or hurt me.
I have no doctor I could go to without being embarrassed by my parents, so the next best thing is you guys.
please, if you have any advice, tell me.
thanks in advance.
>> Anonymous
they won't hurt you
>> Anonymous
what would help more is vitamin gym
>> Anonymous
nothing you buy is going to make a large difference in your bodyfat percentage.

its something like 60% diet 35% training 5% supplements
>> Anonymous
stop eating/drinking shit with a ton of sugar
eat a lot of grilled chicken
start walking everywhere
drink a shit load of water
>> Anonymous
They'll turn you into a fish.

Decide right now whether you want to be thin, or whether you want to be fat and lazy while taking a useless pill that makes you feel like you're doing something about yourself. If the former, you're going to fix your diet so it's healthy, and you're going to hit the gym. If the latter, proceed as you are.

Walk everywhere
Bicycle
eat vegetables
stay away from non-whole grains and anything with partially-hydrogenated what-nots.
>> Me
all of this is actually very helpful, guys, thanks.
I live in the middle of nowhere though. it's 8 miles to the nearest store.and I never learned how to ride a bike.

and the bluntness does help.
anything else?

You should learn to bike. It's fun.
>> Anonymous
learn to ride. adult training wheels? if you live out in the middle of nowhere, climb some trees. do some hiking.

so my brother tells me, yes.
im fat. and scared.
but mostly fat.

OP, fish oil is nice simply for the Omega 3 boost. I take a pill every day and do see a difference in my mood (definately helps with the winter months) but its not by any means a weight loss pill. I take it because I don't like most fish.

Change your habits like the good anons before me have said, but the fish oil isn't going to hurt you.

if your nutrition is terrible, take a multi-vitamin (woman's with b12)

that will help aid the process of weightloss. I too was an obese mid-teen, and then I got off my ass and did something about it. Clean your room, clean the house, do chores, walk, run, hike, bike, iron shit, help in the kitchen, every little bit of movement helps.

You could get a indoors stationary bicycle, but its not half as fun as riding outdoors, and without some serious commitment on your part you risk ending up with a expensive piece of dusty furniture. Most likely you will buy it, ride it for a grand total of 7 miles, and start hanging wet clothing on it. If you really commit and make a schedule and stick to it however, you can prove me wrong.

its really easy to learn. Its not even a gradual learning; as an adult you should be able to dedicate an afternoon to getting the basics down. Then once you see how fun it is, you'll be able to really bike for exercise.

amazingly enough, we have like, 3 in our basement.
my mom used to be huge, but then she went on Atkins and lost like...hundreds of pounds. but i wouldn't be able to give up my spaghetti.

I have three days off of school this week, so I may be able to get one of the bikes into my room without alerting attention.
my weight has been getting worse lately, so quickly that I can actually feel it when I never have been able to before.

>>469424
my nutrition IS terrible.
with the vitamins and exercise, will that actually make a difference?
>> Me
>>469457
The reason I dont want to tell them is if it doesnt work, I dont want anyone to know I was trying in the first place.

my main problem is the eating healthy thing. everytime i try a new diet I end up eating an entire bag of chips or a bunch of sugar before i see any change.
im so used to eating wrong, I forget to change when I've promised myself to.

that's another thing. everytime i manage to stick to a diet for an extended period of time, the progress isn't visible and I get discouraged.
anyone been through this?

Holy shit you can't ride a bike? Is this normal among you and your friends? Next thing you tell me is you can't swim.
>> Anonymous
>>469449
It will help if you're eating appropriate amounts of food. It can't do magic.

>>469470

learn to exercise your will power. saying no to bad shit isn't too hard. once you stop eating such crap, you won't crave it as much. and, if you're doing well enough after a few weeks, or a month or so, cheat a little and eat ONE SERVING of whichever junk food.
>> Me
>>469478
no, it's not normal, and yes, i can swim and rather well thank you.
i had bikes as a kid but I gave up on them.
sorry.

It isn't as simple as "eat tofu" or "fish oil pills", it's simpler - eat less. And eat NORMAL food, not hippy shit, but also no junk food. Fresh vegetables, fruit, pulses and beans, rice, and lean meats (even fatty ones are better than burgers, but chicken etc is the best [not KFC]).

The general rule is the less done to it the better - so a chicken that's been killed, plucked, gutted and cut up which you then cook is better than one that had all that done, then minced into nuggets, had shit added to it and deep fried. You can really use your common sense.

>>469526
I do realize it's my fault. i wasn't trying to say it was like, god's will or something.
and reproduction is party of this, now that you bring it up.
i'm kinda sick and tired of my friends trying to convince me I'm pretty when I've overheard snatches of guy's conversations... well... you can guess.

1. It will work. Getting thin isn't complicated, even if it's not always easy. Healthy diet+exercise=health.

2. A diet is not something you try or go on. Your diet is what you eat every day, not what you plan to eat. Consistency is the only thing that counts. Don't set yourself up for failure by deciding on some over-ambitious plan that no one (not even an athletic person who eats healthy) could stick to. Decide how many calories you should be eating (probably around 500 less than your maintenance level, which you can Google), and then think about what you can eat that will fill you up and add up to that goal. Hint: lots of veggies five times a day will leave you stuffed to the gills.

And if you eat right Monday through Friday, then accidentally a whole bag of chips on Saturday, who cares? That's not even going to make a dent in your progress, because it's about what you do every day, not about what you just did. If you eat until you can't move on Thanksgiving, what does it matter? Because the day before, the day after, and for the rest of your life, you're a healthy eater on average, right?

The kind of people who go on and off fad diets without seeing results are the people who get tunnel vision and focus on what they ate that day, either beating themselves up for one big meal or overeating *every* day, reasoning that it's just one day. Expand your focus to the whole week, and never try to compensate for eating a lot today by eating less tomorrow, because in the grand scheme of things, it makes no difference. If you're overeating every day, then you obviously don't have a plan you can stick to for the rest of your life, and should change it up. Probably you're attempting to not eat rather than to fill up on foods that provide an appropriate number of calories.

Basic shit isn't hard. Boil vegetables. Roast meat.

Get a chicken leg with the skin on, defrost it (check its done by sticking a knife right through, then touching the bit that was in the middle and see if it's ice cold or just cool). Stick in a baking tray for 20 minutes in a 200*c oven, then add a load of chopped potato/sweet potato/challottes round the edge and roast for another 40 minutes.

why are fat people always the ignorant ones?

you can't cook? fucking jesus christ, put a piece of chicken on a pan, put pan on stove. HOLY FUCK THAT JUST BLEW MY MIND

stop being such a pussy and fucking get in your moms face, go shopping with her

You have to get away from your parents if you can't bring them around to support you and your need to change your habits. It's not right to live the way you and your parents do. I'm sure they may be nice people but all parents have a responsibility to feed their kids right. Aestethics is one thing but increased risk of diseases and not being able to move about properly is more worrying. If you can't get them to help you out a bit you have to toughen the fuck up and get a job or start studying so you can get away from them. And fucking learn how to cook. It is not hard to boil water or fry meat in a pan. I only have these basic cooking skills and because of them I can consume everything a healthy person needs. It's not fucking gourmet to eat healthy. LEARN TO COOK. Even so, so many healthy things doesn't need any cooking. Salads, oats, whole wheat bread etc

Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you so much for you insightful, mature post.
I'm so glad that you clearly know me in real life and can tell me what i need to do while not making generalizations or being rude!
Sincerely, OP
>> Me
>>469575
well, i kinda exaggerated.
they're not quite that bad, but somethings do need to change. i'll attempt to learn how to cook though... that need to be done regardless of my weight...
>> Anonymous
>>469592
You will not attempt to learn how to cook, you WILL learn how to cook or else you're going to have to eat exactly what your parents eat. At some point you're going to move out, or your parents die and you still live in their home and you will need to cook, so you might as well learn it now.

If you don't learn how to cook you're continuing down a path of self-destruction. You have a lot to prove and nothing to lose. MAKE IT HAPPEN :>
>> Me
>>469619
very good point.
and yes, I WILL learn how to cook, because I am tired if being looked at as the fat, funny, smart girl with no friends.
ugh.
thanks guys.
>> Anonymous
>>469628
I just declined offers from a girl similar to your description: funny and smart and with a cute face but too fucking big. You're lucky compared to her cuz you're 14-16 or whatever and she's 21. If you make this change and you stick with it you have a great life a head of you. So many people just live normal lives and have great looks while growing up but start getting really bloated when they stop growing. It's no good being thin and popular in high school if you become fat in college and remain that way for the rest of your life. I realize that you're probably missing out on a lot of fun at the moment but if you work hard you're going to look and feel great and if you add that to your being smart and funny you'll probably have a great life a head of you. There's so many stupid chicks out there with smoking bodies and the only reason we're fucking them is because all the smart ones are fat.

P.S post tits?

>>469646
dude, she is underage and obese.

when you think of cooking, don't think you need to learn to do shit like cheese stuffed profiteroles in a lemon grass broth. Instead try stuff like cold cut sandwiches that you can make with your basic sandwich goodies, or something like a salad which is basically a base of lettuce with varied toppings. You can always expand from there.
>> Anonymous
>>469646
very much agree and relate to this post. A fattie who is cute and smart (and would otherwise be smoking if not for her rolls) clings to me at work and flirts a lot. But you know, this is /fit/ and we are all superficial damaged assholes.
>> Anonymous
>>469651
So? Her tits may be nice. She could atleast give us something back. There's not a big chance she'll be able to give us anything back in person when she's (hopefully) hot in a few years from now. BESIDES THIS IS THE FUCKING INTERNETS AND I WANT TO SEE HER TITTIES!
>>469661
Indeed, we are. It's a sad situation with these girls though, wish I had a button to press to make them slim and healthy (and hawt for my pleasure :| ). In reality you just silently decline their attemps in a polite matter. Maybe we should just tell them what the fuck their problem is, would that help or just make them an hero?
>> Anonymous
God, I could swear we're getting trolled, but...

First off, you can eat your spaghetti. The thing with pastas, though, is that cream and butter sauces are bad for you, while tomato sauces are good. Just eat less. Have a small helping at first, then wait fifteen minutes, then go back for seconds. Also, eat slowly. try to strike up dinnertime conversation.

Also, if they put food in the corner of the fridge, who cares, just get it and put it at the front. Or make your own section of the fridge.

Avoid cream based salad dressings, like caeser and ranch. Don't add salt. Drink TONS of water.
>> Me
>>469687
well, I'm flattered that you ask...
and my tits aren't THAT bad if I say so myself...
but to be honest, my internet is currently being watched and it's probably not the safest thing to do.
if this wasn't the case i definitely would :)

it seems as if advice is done?
if not, please post.
underage b& has school tomorrow...

One thing my friend did that made a huge change:

Any time you are about to eat beef/pork/lamb or other fatty meats, have chicken instead. There isn't much of a difference, and it is much leaner, and doesn't have nearly the same level of hormones and un-natural things pumped into it.
>> Anonymous
Best advice
If you can get a gym membership.

Get on a treadmill- 3 speed 6 incline for 20min untill you build up stamina: usually 2-3weeks(5days a week), now bump it up to 8incline 10incline 12 14 etc.. for 30-40min

You will drop the fat provided you stop eating like a pig. Thats harder than getting on the treadmill.

IB4 HIIT Bulshit. Thats probably a ways off for you

Tofu is not that bad provided you know how to cook them. Unfortunately, most of the faggots on /fit/ lack the culinary skill to make this a reality.

why avoid salt altogether, it's part of a healthy diet.
