not a doctor, but I also have ADD. I have never taken anything for, probably never will. I do fine because I work in an industry that gives me a million things to do.

Why are you treating it, you can use it.

Adderall FTW! Feel more focused, AND addicted!

I'm ADD too and I don't take anything for it, unless you count my B-12 and Omega-3 vitamins. I probably should take something, but I've just learned to live with it and organize my life around it.

sup.

i was forced to take ritalin for 8+ years. also made me depressed as fuck but i never noticed until i stopped when i was 14. *then* i finally started making friends.

trust me, dont waste your social life: DONT TAKE IT >:(

fake it. do whatever you need to: put it under your tongue in front of the authorities and spit it out...anyway you have to.

this shit ruined my childhood. fuck it. ppl w/ add are lively and funny and smart, potentially more so that the drones. enjoy it :)

also, read on the history of the "disorder". it was "discovered" *after* the drugs were manufactured, i.e. it's a fake disorder.

I wouldn't say it's 'fake', but it's definitely not as drastic as some try to make it seem.

I was on both Concerta and Stratera. Neither really worked for me and gave me MAJOR panic attacks (for the first time in my life). I just deal with ADD/ADHD. I like it better that way anyhow.

FUCK CONCERTA gb2adderlol

How do you guys even know there is something wrong with you? I feel distracted sometimes but I don't have a fucking condition that requires treatment.
... Do I?

I was diagnosed at age 17 when being diagnosed with depression. I was in a study at Duke and they went through pretty much the whole DSM-IV. *LOL*

I should specify, I was in the depression/exercise study at Duke. Exercise gave very fast results when medications didn't do shit. Exercise 3x/week for at least 30 minutes at target heartrate (plus time to warm up/cool down).

How do you know if you have ADD/ADHD/etc? I'd like to see if I would be diagnosed with it (I think I would). I've definitely had trouble paying attention, focusing and concentrating on things in school.

Not that I'd ever take anything for it.

Maybe it's too bad in some people, but I think it can be a gift more than anything.

I was diagnosed when I was 12, though my mother didn't tell me until college. ADD's a bit more than just distraction, it's a sort of mental block that hinders memory and organizational skills. I have to write constant reminders and notes to in order to remember to do things like pay the bills, or even eat. Sometimes it's because I forget, other times it's because I'm doing something else, that doesn't even have to be that interesting, and while in the back of my mind I know have to do that other task I can't pull away from whatever I'm doing.
It's a little frustrating at times, and I never manage to finish a lot of personal projects, but it's not really life damaging. Except that one time my phone got cancelled because I kept forgetting to pay the bill.

Now I really think I have it.

Also I keep a todo.txt file with things like "brush teeth," "shower," or "vacuum," lol.

I still think there are positive aspects to it as well, though

i think i have ADD i'm very forgetful. Should i take ritalin ?
>> Anonymous
>>29547
Yeah, you probably do, but if you've figured out how to plan your life around it then it doesn't really matter if you're diagnosed or not.
And I thank my ADD for my creativity, even if it means I never finish any ideas I start.

I'm>>29529and I'd say talk to your doctor first about ADD, you could just be forgetful, it does happen. But if you are diagnosed and your doctor says it's alright for you to take, then go for it. Ritalin's not the drone creating drug some people make it out to be, it can be very helpful.

I'd also recommend picking up 'Delivered from Distraction' - it's an excellent read on ADD and various methods on living with it, from drugs to diet to lists. I read it after finding out I had ADD and it really helped.

ADD doesn't exist. It's a normal human condition to have a lot of energy or to not be able to concentrate.

ADD has been SEVERELY lessened almost to the point of non existence by eating an organic food diet, lowering sugar intake, and staying away from processed foods.

It turns out that many people are allergic to certain pesticides and food additives.

This site might help? I don't know I didn't read it here. I read about this in a book and some magazines...
