Alright /fit/, I'm sure you see a ton of these threads, but I don't usually lurk around these parts, so I apologize for asking stupid questions. So it's like this. I'm 23, and I've never been at all athletic or in shape at any time in my life. I'm not overweight, but I'm certainly not skinny either. I have tried several times to get myself in decent shape, and have failed each time. The most serious effort was when I was an undergrad, and I managed to stick to a routine for about a year before giving up. Since then, I would try again and usually last 3 to 6 months before I would just stop going to the gym. A few months later, I would feel like I do now, and try again. I never enjoyed exercising- in fact I absolutely hated it. I never felt any different, or saw any encouraging results. I'm sure I was doing it wrong, since I don't know a goddamn thing about fitness. So I come to you. How do I come up with an exercise regimen that will show results and won't make me completely miserable? I'm not expecting to get really ripped or anything. I'd just like to not be embarrassed to take my shirt off or not get winded after walking up a flight of stairs.

my honest opinion to you is to give up here and now. If you have no drive to exercise then you'll go no where in any plan you make. Best case scenario eat as healthy as possible and walk a lot and hope for the best.

Sigh. I was afraid of that. Everyone else I know seems to enjoy it, but I honestly can't figure out why.

You could try biking and/or swimming if you enjoy it as a hobby, other than that yeah I stick to my first comment being healthy and lean.
