/fit/, I have a problem. I've been trying to eat right for a while, but I've been laid off and am living on a tight budget so it's been difficult. I've mostly been eating pasta and cold cut sandwiches. What would be the cheapest healthy diet? Pic not really related.

are you bulking or cutting? i'm bulking, and i manage to get 2500 calories/day spending less than $40/week.

OATZ
tuna
whole milk
eggs
spaghetti
wheat bread

etc. are all good cheap foods. i recommend you start logging all of your calories (fitday.com), then compare that data to your grocery receipt so you can see what foods are giving you the most calories on the dollar.

Tinned beans and eggs are pretty cheap.

Also: look for shit that's on sale (I got lots of cheap tuna this way) and store brands (the Publix OATZ are better than the Quaker Oats OATZ).

OP, check out cottage cheese as well. It's cheap here in Eurostan but I don't know if it in yours.
