HI
I noticed that my forearms get bigger naturally while working out with freeweights.
I couldn't understand this for a long time, until I finally realised that when you pickup a weight, youf fingers need to exert an equal force to grip it
wow no fuck eh?

well anyways, I was wundering if there are any excersises that focus on the forearm specifically.
Also, I know what my picture is, and they are Shit for building muscle.

My forearm always get jacked during tennis season. Granted it's just my right arm, but it tells you that any movement involving your wrists and weight are what's really going to develop them.

Just to elaborate, the guy from>>378955is working a different set of forearms than the ones I'm talking about. Flex your wrist up and you'll see (or feel) the ones I mean.

Put a barbell on the safety pins above knee height, load it up with a fuckton of weight, and pull that shit up.. hold it there static until you fail
>> Anonymous
>>379031

Also, keep it close to your fingers unless your hands are virgin when it comes to weightlifting anyways. Lifting with a barbell in the palm will cause it to roll downwards and fold your skin, causing tearing if you have callouses.

try doing them, right now, no weight, just do the motion

see the muscles in your forearm wiggling around? yeah.

honestly, my forearms get a good workout from playing bass. the left more than the right, but when i go fingerstyle the right gets a good one too

anything that requires a strong grip works your forearms to an extent. squats and deads, natch, but overhead presses are also fantastic. forearms are small muscles; they don't need a lot of work and they recover quickly.

Farmers Walk
Deadlifts

If your squats are working your forearms, then you're doing it wrong
>> Anonymous
>>379074

you don't grip the bar during squats? YOU'RE doing them wrong. rest them on your lats, but squeeze them hard. there's a reason squats are considered a full-body workout.

Are you fucking serious? You need to look up the difference between LATS and DELTOIDS first of all. Secondly, you're supposed to use a thumbless grip during the squat to rest it on your traps or rear deltoids. The only thing they are doing is keeping the bar stable. You fucking moron
>> sage
hey, you forgot to sage, bro
>> Anonymous
>>379203

How the hell are you supposed to rest the bar on your deltoids? On a high-bar squat it sits on your traps, on a low bar it sits on your lats.

There's a mind-boggling amount of stupid in this thread.

Grab some heavy dumb bells. Walk to the other side of the gym. Then walk back to the weight rack and put them back.
Grab heavier dumb bells, and repeat. This is called a FARMER'S WALK.
Excellent for developing forearms.
Also, deadlifts.
