It's me again, the girl losing weight so she doesn't end up like her obese family. I'm going on the treadmill tonight to try and get 4 miles. I've started to keep a food diary of things I've eaten, but I'm not sure if I should continue it or not. It just makes me all paranoid and nervous about what I'm eating (OMIGOD! THIS MILK HAS 130 CALORIES, OH NOes!), and I don't want to start down that path. Has anyone who has been trying to lose weight found themselves in the same siuation?

Don't go crazy thinking about calories. It's just important that you get your intake written down. You're not going to go down the "JESUS NO I ATE A CELERY STALK WHERE ARE MY LAXATIVES" path unless you let yourself.

Keep the diary, compare your intake to your needs and go from there. Good luck.

Haha, I thought that too when I first started keeping a food diary a few months ago. But now it's become part of my eating process and I love it.
Food diaries rock as long as you do it right: Keep it for a week or so to just record, not as a bible for cutting back calories. Then look at it and see what you can cut out while staying health (ie junk food and stuff). Begin to do so the following week, while keeping a calorie count.
As for getting to your calorie goal, say 140o/day, instead of saying 'O GOD THIS IS X CAL I CAN'T HAVE IT' think 'hey, this is x cal, do I REALLY need it?' The longer you keep a diary the more natural it becomes and the less you worry about the calories.
