I've been taking accutane (sotret) for about 2 months. I notice some progress with my acne, but I still have cysts on my face. Who else has used accutane and how long did it take before the cysts went away?
>> Anonymous
Ehhh I think I remember being rid of the more serious ones around 3-4 months. Keep it up you'll be clear in no time.

My dermatologist told me that it will make your acne worse for the first month. Results depend greatly on the dosages, but I'd say I noticed progress at the beginning of my second month and was relatively acne free sometime during my third month. Just make sure to moisturize with a non-comedogenic lotion and you'll be looking good in no time.

Mine didn't get worse but like once or twice.

Also after that OP prepare for EXTREMELY DRY SKIN WTF. It was crazy, everything was bone dry.
Also next month will be my last month. Glad it's over.

step 1- go to a doctor and ask for erythromycin. it will dry your face up.
step 2- order some fucking proactive. i use that shit, and it works well, and i dont care what other people say about it, it works well. at least better than walmart brand crap. its 2nd only to true pharmaceutical acne treatment.
step 3(last one, promise) diet and exercise. see a dietitian or the internet to find a diet that will work for your condition. this is really the hardest step to follow.

i used erythromycin, and trust me, the shit will hurt. but it knocked my shit out of the ballpark.
proactive is great, but there really is better shit out there if you pony up some $$$.
no matter what anyone says, chocolate doesnt cause shit on your face. there is more complexity in your diet you need to grasp, but it may take time+effort if your condition is hereditary, but no one said it would be easy, and if they do, its a scam.
i hope you find this helpful.

question

how easy/difficult is it to get accutane? i've had acne for about 5 years now, and it doesn't look HORRIBLE, but it hasn't diminished after anything i've tried in those 5 years. i'm worried that i'll go to a dermatologist and he'll not think that my case is severe enough to warrant medication

Difficult, but you want it.

This is:>>387253

My acne was never what a doctor would call severe, but it really did affect my life. I felt disgusting, hated being seen by people, and nothing I tried made much of a dent in it. After a few years of other prescriptions (and over the counters of course) my dermatologist finally recommended accutane. The only problem is that there is a LOT of red tape to cut through. But it's worth it in every way.

This.

As I obviously had oily skin, I had to learn to love moisturizing which was different. Also it will be extremely easy to get sunburt, which was another thing I was not used to happening.

Keep in mind after taking it you should still see good effects for a year. I'm hoping I grow out of it before it has the chance to return.

Ah, monthly blood tests..
We're quite similar, you and I.
Kind of pisses me off my mother didn't take me to a dermotologist sooner, I had "high moderate" acne, and it messed up my social skills. 5 years of hell could be so easily fixed with 2 little pills a day.

accutane may damage your face dumbass. read the fucking manual. also, proactive does kick ass, but only after the acne has been scaled down to a more manageable level. maybe i wasnt clear in my previous post, but step 2 takes place after step one.

How's it going to damage your face, "dumbass"? Scarring from acne is the only real 'damage' you'll see. Why take proactive if he's already on a superior medication that is sure to work, instead of buying an ass load of non-working shit.

I don't want to blame it all on acne, but that was definitely a huge factor. I get a few pimples that I have to deal with still, and I always feel like a monster. Even when my face is clear, all I can see is my very mild acne scars. I'm incredibly vain, yet have a huge inferiority complex due to 6 years of dealing with acne.

Goddammit yes. Back/shoulder/chest acne killed my social life for swimming/beach trips/the like, and I hated being seen without a shirt on.

My dermatologist put me on minocycline, and I'm a month in. I told him I only wanted accutane but he said that there were too many permanent, negative side effects that only after minocycline would he let me on it (after I've been on 2 other pill prescriptions and 3 creams). You might have to go through the same situation, OP

From my personal experience, I have cyst mostly on my nose and the ridges of my cheeks. My doctor say that I have bad skin like the top layer on my skin been tainted so acne and zits happen more frequent since the pores gets clogged up really fast, I was told to get a chemical peel to stop it from happening more then before. after getting the chemical peel and my skin starts to peel off I had baby smooth skin and the black/white head are less apparent then before.

I'm 20 and have had acne for a while. I just got off of antibiotics because they did next to nothing, I had been on various ones for roughly 5 years. I have also tried almost every facewash, topical, etc known to man. Right now I use Cetaphil and Dan's BP and a SA water-based moisturizer.

I've also tried multiple different diets, and a tough workout routine most days of the week to no avail. Not fapping also had no effect. The only solution I think I have left is to go see an endocrinologist. Has anyone else had any degree of success with this?

You could just try washing. Stop being dirty slobs.

We have a winner, change your fucking sheets once in awhile and give your face more than a cursory introduction to the concept of soap. However, know this: those scars will forever mark you as a dirty piece of shit and you will be secretly loathed by your peers at the paving company.
