Mis/fit/s, it's starting to get cold here so I'm going to stop running soon. Do you think DDR is an acceptable form of cardio (as in, 45 min - 1 hour of busting your ass) for winter time?

There are no inside tracks near here, and I don't want to get out of shape again. Disregard gyms, I'm just focused on what ya'll think of DDR.

I get a pretty good workout from DDR... it's a lot like jumping rope.

Another option is burpees (and of course jump rope), too. Also look into some bodyweight exercises.

Simple fucking answer.. Get on your ddr, do what you plan to do for 45-1h, and take your heart rate, compare it to your running heart rate.

The P90X program has two great cardio routines; plyometrics and kenpo. I prefer these over running now as I feel they have fewer negative side effects. They can be done in a 10'x10' space. I do all of P90X in my single dorm room.

DDR, at the higher levels 10+ step songs, is one of the most intense cardio workouts you can have. The main disadvantage of doing DDR is that it will fuck up your knees. Pick it up play it, get good, and you should notice better results than jogging. Depending on what your fitness goals are that is...

In 11th grade I was 6'0 and weighed about 220 lbs. I played 1-2 games of DDR 5 days a week during my lunch break at school. Yeah my school had an arcade, it was awesome. I did this almost every day. I also sometimes went to a nickle arcade and played DDR for a few hours. I didn't do the easy songs that have you barely moving either. I was doing 8-10 footers. I even was able to beat Max 300 on maniac. At the end of the year I didn't lose any weight. The year before I hardly exercised and I didn't gain or lose any weight. I know DDR must have done something though because even though I looked just as fat, I improved my mile time from about 10:30 to 8:00. Pretty good for a borderline obese guy.

tldr: I didn't lose any weight from DDR but I got in much better shape which is more important.
