Hey /fit/ tell me what you think of this article talking about how Brad Pitt trained to become Tyler Durden.


After Fight Club was released, Brad Pitt became the envy of a great number of men. His tight, muscular body was coveted, and many people sought a workout that would produce similar results. His workout was characterized by beating one muscle group up each day, then giving it the rest of the week to recover. This is very beneficial for adding muscle mass, as muscles grow during rest periods and not during the actual time in the gym.

In order to promote growth, though, you have to give your muscles a reason to grow stronger, and annihilating one group per day with numerous sets and exercises will do the trick.

Finally, at the end of the week, he finished off with a good cardio workout. This put his body in fat-burning mode, which served to shed any extra padding that covered his muscles, giving him that chiseled look.

Here are the exercises that made up his workout. Perform 3 sets of each exercise, taking approximately 60 seconds to rest between each set. Use a weight that is challenging enough that you can successfully complete 15 reps (with the exception of pushups and pullups), but be fatigued on the last rep. However, it must still be light enough for you to maintain proper form.

it talks about "adding muscle mass". brad pitt is about 6' and weighed about 150 lbs at the time of fight club". i'll guarantee he was more likely losing mass than adding.

the basic idea is ok (one exercise per day) but the weight and types of exercises are not right for gaining mass.

I hear the training regimen that actors do to get in shape for their movies are very focused on cosmetics (duh) and upper body strength. It's pretty much focused on the parts of the body that will look the "best" on film and no time wasted elsewhere.

That and they're fucking loaded with a lot of time on their hands so they can afford to get the very best in personal training as well as cooks to provide the most deliciously prepared protein money can buy. And they can eat it off their naked supermodel trophy wives' bodies.

thing is brad's genetics > brad's supposed workout. He's naturally a super lean guy with a fast metabolism. And even so, to get to 4% bodyfat like he did for fight club is difficult as fuck, most Olympic athletes aren't that lean. He went back up to 8% for Snatch and still looked shredded.
