Holy shit guys. Broke up with the gf recently, so I went and got piss/blood tested to make sure Im good to go for the next one.

I came back all negative, but the Doc said I had elevated levels of Bilirubin. He said that they are elevated because of decreased liver function. When i was inquiring about the situation, both the nurse and the Doc told me to not drink booze at all, which i have stopped, but never did in excess.

Is it likely that my NO/creatine supps could be the cause of my potential liver problems?

a little likely, perhaps, I've heard they do eff with your liver

Doctor here.

NO will be damaging to everything that contains significant numbers of blood vessels, including your liver. But enough to cause hyperbilirubinaemia? Not likely unless you've really been dosing on it for quite some time.

Creatine is primarily damaging to your kidneys. And while a kidney problem may lead directly to a liver problem (or vice-versa), you're likely to have other premonitory signs.

The most important thing you can do is not consume alcohol, and get regular bloodwork done. It could be anything from a transient hiccup to a contaminated blood sample to cancer.

Was it conjugated or unconjugated bilirubin levels that were elevated? If you have a copy of your labs, it'll say which. Conj vs. unconj has very different implications.

Creatine is a relatively safe supplement... If, you use it in the appropriate amounts and drink plenty of water.
Creatine works by saturating your muscles with water, if you arent drinking twice as much water as you would normally drink then you will indeed fuck yourself up. This is especially bad if you are drinking which not only dehydrates you more but puts more stress on the liver. Also creatine may cause the elevated levels of bilirubin without actually decreasing liver function, a kind of false positive.
I would suggest that you keep taking creatine at a 5g day dose, and drink about 1.5 gallons of water a day on top of all the other shit you drink, but dont drink any alcohol. Then in two weeks go for the same urine/blood test just dont take the creatine within 48HRs of the test.

If the test comes back with still elevated levels then: 1. you have a fucked up liver, 2. the creatine is indeed fucking up your liver, or 3. you fucking didnt drink enough water or drank alcohol.

I'm 23. I will have a few beers on the weekends sometimes, but have been drinking less and less. I will do it only when in social situations, and lately, I have been too busy to be out like I used to. Plus, I have been in hardcore gym mode, and booze doesnt fit into it. But, in the past few years there have been a handful of times that I have been so drunk that I am still drunk the next day.

Thanks for the lengthy responses. Here has been my regiment for the past 3 years:

9 months of bulking - NO/Creatine/Multi/Protein supps 6 days a week. I lift 5 days a week. Cardio 1 or 2 days a week.

3 months of cutting - Ephedrine/Caffeine with minimal weightlifting and 6 days a week of cardio.

I usually start the cutting in May to get a head start on summer and get back to bulking by August. I drink tons of water...plenty hydrated I think.

I will take the tripfag's advice on getting retested and trying to isolate the problem, hoping its the supps.

I *will* get my lab results since I want to know more about the situation. I consider myself pretty healthy and this is concerns me a bit.
