Does anyone know any exercises to enhance the areas I circled in this picture. Also, is there a proper name for them?
>> Anonymous
There's a proper name for everything in the body, it's what the biologists do. I believe those are the obliques, although a more learned Anon can correct me if I'm wrong.
>> Anonymous
If you're lean enough, you will see them.

Side crunches do work them well.

/agree

Girls think they're sexy as hell too.
>> Anonymous
It's kind of weird when women have them. Like Pink.
>> Anonymous
You generally see those right before you can see your six-pack..so unless you're pretty lean you will just make muscley man handles. Search for oblique exercises. Side crunches on the floor, woodchoppers, gay cable shit, target that specific area. The obliques encompass a lot more area than that little bit but when people talk about obliques they generally refer to that place.

psoas, i think
>> Anonymous
Psoas are deeper, underneath the muscle you can see.

I would think those would be hit by leg lifts or reverse crunches. God knows that area burns like fire when I do said exercises :x
>> Anonymous
it's called the iliac crest
>> Anonymous
"those" drive ALL women crazy. no exceptions.

it's like a muscle happy trail to your wang.

Iliac crest is the part of the pelvis that is the "hip bone". It shows more on thin people than muscled people. The first poster was right: they're obliques.

I never knew I learned anything from my figure drawing teacher, but I'll be damned if I admit it to him.

Since I find the lower belly ridiculously sexy on females, I don't blame them too much for getting a pantywet over that stuff.

Leg lifts will work them I think.

Lie on your back, lift your head up a few inches, put your arms to your side, and lift your legs up off the ground while keeping them straight. Lower, repeat.

Seems like a low body fat thing.
I have them but I'd gladly trade them to be able to bench more than 80 lbs.
>> Anonymous
It is a body fat %- I think around 13% is when they show. To be prominent and actually look good...I'd wager 160ish and 8% body fat.

I want those!

I enjoy licking those.

<-- proud owner

It works really well because there's a vein running right through my left one.

through? you mean it looks better going along it's edge, increasing it's obviousness, or are you talking perpendicular to the "v-line" which makes me go WTF.

I want to climb trees, (my goal here for the progression thread). My dream of vline will have to come afterwards, I hate crunches and anything ab related. Climb trees first, then vline.

Parallel.
>> Kanader
The anon who said "Iliac Crest" is correct. That is a bone feature. The obliques are slightly above this area, and the psoas are beneath other tissue and are not visible unless you have a scalpel.

they are called obliques
>> Kanader
>>30704
The obliques run from above the iliac crest to under the armpit, covering the ribs. Just beneath the iliac crest is the very edge of the gluteus maximus, and running down from the iliac crest is the sartorius.

stfu at least he took the time to mspaint doodle forus
>> Kanader
>>30749
The Serratus Anterior is along the top ribs, above the obliques, which cover the lower ribs and run to the side of the abdominals.

And since I love anon so much, I've stolen some Gray's Anatomy from wikipedia and enhanced it with MS Paint. The Serratus is in blue.

low body fat percentage. then throw in a very unhealthy dose of biking. preferably hills. go do alpe d'huez repeats in france. if you can do that three times in a row, 4-5 times a week, you're set.
