So, swimming laps with snorkels yay or nay? I'm looking to lose weight by swimming 60 or so relatively fast laps every day. Unfortunately I absolutely suck at gulping for air while swimming so I always gotta stand up, take a breather and then start swimming again. I can barely get 30 laps in an hour like this.

Thing is, some people say that wearing snorkel will reduce the amount of calorie you burn. Is this true or just downright bullshit?

try running with a snorkel. that is manly. how the fuck is sucking on a snorkel reducing the amount of calories? them people are bullshitting you

If you're gulping water, your form is incorrect, if your form is incorrect you're swimming inefficiently, if you're swimming inefficiently you're achieving your greatest potential for burning calories.

Watch some youtube videos of swimmers. Do what they do. Learn how to swim. Swim more than 60 laps.

...what?

Anyway, no, OP. Snorkels won't "reduce" your calorie burnage. When you're doing fast swimming laps, you get a serious work out and that's that ; it's hella good cardio.

Using snorkels are bad if you're swimming competitively or professionally. But if you just wanna lose weight, knock yourself out. Snorkel or not, it's all the same as far as that goal is concerned.
