This thread is about your experience with gym assholes, as I had my first experience with a gym douche last night when i was training my girlfriend, so I'll start.

My girlfriend and I were heading for the only squat in our gym where there was a serious lifter who had been doing squats of about 350 lbs (though he didn't reach parallel) and was now warming up on deadlifts at 135 checking his form. At this time, it's late and the gym is going to close soon, so we ask if he can use any of the other barbells to do deadlifts so that we can use the only squat racks. He acts like he owns the rack, but allows us to use it anyway.

In the middle of my girlfriend warming up for squats, he come back having a fit about the spot HE chose and how he cannot check his form. He tells we were being rude for interrupting him and lectures on gym etiquette and insists that he should have the squat rack so he can use the side mirror, instead of just moving another barbell to use instead. He lectures us on gym etiquette and proceeds to not allow us to use the squat rack.

For some awful reason we let him us the rack, instead of breaking his shins and telling him to die in a fire.

I had just finished doing some squats and was warming up for deadlifts in front of the only mirror in my gym, when suddenly this asshole asks me to move. Since I'm a nice guy, I go to grab a drink while the cute little couple does their exercises. 10 minutes later THEY STILL AREN'T DONE. I ask them to let me use the mirror so I can finish my deadlifts - the gym was about to close. For some reason the guy goes APESHIT while his girlfriend watches, clearly embarassed. After his hissy fit, the guy lets me use the mirror.

It was all good though, because I'm actually fucking his girlfriend.

Most of the real lifters in my gym are nice people. There is however this one weedy little dork who hovers around everyone else waiting to use their barbells. He'd ask me impatiently if I was done with my exercise.

The worst part is that I've never seen the guy lift more than 20kg, and he never puts the plates back.

Well it's kinda hard when there's only one squat rack. No one is happy when the squat rack is occupied. You could'Ve done a compromise. Here we nicely ask if we can use the rack between sets, but usualy, for maximum mental focus, i wait until no one is using the rack.

These weirdos were watching me, I think they were checking me out, eeewww.It was getting late and so I tried to maximise the time I had left the two fags, spit in my face with a gay lisp asking if I could use any of the other barbells to do deadlifts so that we can use the only squat racks.I have a strongman meet soon and so I was reluctant to let them I do own the gym after all, but I allowed them to use it anyway (customer is always right, if not always straight).

He almost looked as if he was gonna start something, when I stood up to him however he pussied out and ran home with his boyfriend.

You guys sticking up for me are wrong, i should have told the guy i was using this. I'm a big fan of standing up for myself. However, It was late, we had smoked earlier and i froze up. If only i had an undo button. Letting people get away with that never puts them in a position where they consider themselves from an outside perspective.

Being polite is a good idea, but if being polite and negotiating doesn't work, ALWAYS stand your ground.

Well I graduated high school in May but I had weight training class the last semester. Now i've lifted on and off since my sophomore year in high school but since January it's been consistent and will remain that way. Anyways, when the semester started I had lost some strength since I hadn't weight trained since about 6 months and I had never really trained very intensely. So there was this prick in my class who thought he was the shit at boxing and could lift shitloads. He would always talk shit to me but actions speak louder than words. I won't forget the look on his face when i benched 225, knowing he could only hit 205. It was marvelous. I haven't maxed out in months though. =(

They are the two biggest and most important lifts. One of them is going to suffer if you do them both on same day as you won't be able to give it your max effort.

No. If you've ever tried doing them on the same day, you'll find you have energy left to do them in any succession. Deadlifts don't work legs enough to cause trouble for squats and squats don't work the back enough to do the same.

Well, I noticed a much larger improvement on both when I moved my deads to my back day. I used to do squat -> deads on my leg days but always felt like my deads were suffering because of it.

no assholes at my local gym. It's newly opened and is filled with middle aged people playing racquettball. Except for the dude that grunts and screams, i'm usually the only one in the weight room.

Full squats are way better and unless your ass is squatting 1000 pounds in a suit then maybe you are excluded but it's always best to do exercise in their best and safe form. btw for you fags who are scared of full squatting..don't be,get yourself a nice squat cage and do box squats with low weight going up slowly...you will be full squatting x2 or more times your body weight in a months. i guarantee it
