So /fit/, some dumbfuck tried to shove a q-tip in my ear and hit it dead on. He perforated my eardrum and everything.

I have substantial hearing loss (obviously) and the doctor says I'm going to undergo surgery and have a graft placed over the hole.

My question is this, will I notice even more hearing loss one it heals and the scar tissue is there?

Thanks /fit/

That sucks dude.

That sounds like a question to ask your doctor. If I had to guess I'd say your hearing ability would look something like this:
normal eardrum>fixed eardrum>>>>>>>>your current eardrum

This is just going with my knowledge that scar tissue is normally inferior to what it's replacing. For all I know you'll be good as new though.

I hope so, thanks man

Why did he do that?

I have no idea, I'm sitting there working on a piece of artwork for my portfolio, and the retard grabs one of the q-tips we use to shade, comes up behind me, and jams it in my ear.

He's widely known as being a complete dumbass.

Holy shit, putting a Qtip too deep can rupture your ear? I've been "deep cleaning" for years, maybe I havent gone deep anough. Wil contact cause the eardrum to rupture?

I assume you're taking him to court for damages?

Some guy in my class did a similar thing to me when I was younger, he held a pencil under me as I sat down.

The whole led broke off inches from my spine, so we sued him. You should do the same.

Sue him, he'll have to pay money every month

Yes, you should only clean the outer ear canal, never go that deep.

>>310046

Just happened a week ago, we're planning on assault charges, don't know what else.

Permanent damage sits well with most judges though, it should go well.

And from what I understand, he's loaded

Yeah, q-tips really aren't meant for that. If you look, there should be a huge warning to ONLY USE ON THE OUTER EAR. I use them to clean my inner ears occasionally, though I know I really shouldn't. You'd have to be pretty bumbling, or slip, to completely rupture your eardrum. Though I have no idea if careful use would cause any damage or not.

This would be my first court case I've had to actually go to/hire a lawyer for, just how big would these monthly payouts be?

And I think I only have like one or two witnesses at the time it happened, and I'm not 100% positive I could get them to testify, mainly because they're friends with said kid. What do I do in that situation?

protip: DON'T STICK QTIPS DOWN THE EARCANAL IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS REGARDING YOUR EAR DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CONSULT THE NEAREST OTOLOGIST.

>>310053

Aren't witnesses required to attend hearings, reguardless of the relationship with you? I don't know at all, but it'd be dodgy if they can choose to testifying.

>>310059

I have no idea, like I said, I've never had to deal with a situation like this.

The 5th amendment protects them if they really don't want to testify

ANOTHER PROTIP NOW THAT I ACTUALLY READ OP'S COMMENT: IF AN IDIOT DECIDES TO SHOVE SOMETHING DOWN ANY OF YOUR ORIFICES MAKE A FIST AND AIM TOWARDS HIS JAW IN A STRAIGHT LINE. BETTER YET TAKE A KNIFE AND STAB, ITS SELF DEFENSE.

Because that holds up well in court.

fuck court, punch his ass in the face.
>> Anonymous
Nah, you'll be back to normal. I had a grenade explode close enough to my head that the air pressure blew out both my ear drums. Got grafts and there's no noticeable difference between now and before it happened.

Good luck, mate.

The 5th protects them from testifying against themselves, idiot.

I prefer that the medical bills get paid. In another universe, where I have limitless money, I'd consider it.

fine then. take it a step up and wait a long time, then sneak some powdered glass into his food. gg

It takes about an hour. They give you anesthesia, take a tiny piece of flesh from the skin behind your ear, and use it to repair the ear drum. Or at least that's how it was explained to me. After it was over I woke up, waited in a room for a bit until I was totally awake, and then they sent me home. Hearing was back to normal within a week or so.

About an inch in is where your eardrum is. The eardrum is more or less a VERY thin piece of skin, so be very careful
>> Anonymous
So HOW are you supposed to clean your ear if the Qtip is only for the outer ear?
>> Anonymous
>>310135
Have a trained, certified professional do it. Just don't do it yourself.
>> Anonymous
>>310135
Don't they sell those little plastic bulbs that are made specifically so you can squirt water into your ear to clean them out?

I do it inside. I'm just incredibly fucking careful about it. If you are not ramming it in like a spastic you won't break it beause it will hurt to put it in deep enough for any damage to be done. If it hurts just stop.

This advice also applies to nearly any object you stick inside an orifice.
