I don't know how the price situation is in whereever you are from, but you can probably pick up a lot of good vegetable protein sources for dirt cheap. Lentils tend to be especially cheap, and contain about 24 grams of protein per 100 grams of dry lentils. Soybeans are a bit more expensive, but have about 1.5 times more protein. Other beans are decent, too, as are different types of peas. Soy protein pulver is half the price of whey here, as well. Then there's milk, eggs, ground beef, chicken... Grains can fill a percentage of your requirements as can seeds and nuts.
