Would a Creative ZEN Vision:M be okay for running? I've heard of harddrive-based players fucking up due to the constant bumps. Anyone out there with experience on this?

I dunno 'bout that one, but there shouldn't be an inherent peoblem with harddrive-based players. My harddrive-iPod is 3-4 years old and never screws up; I exercise with it daily.

hard drives have to experience several hundred g's of shock in order to fuck up. Running with one does nothing to a hard drive, especially if its made from a small platter such as the ones used in ipods

Should be no problem but /g/

they're AWESOME. i've dropped mine on hard concrete many times and it still works beautifully. some people have trouble getting them to charge for the first time, but if you get the wall outlet adapter it will work. also, on occasion mine likes to freeze up, so bring a paper clip or something so you can hit the reset button if you need to (it won't delete anything). other than that it's the fucking bomb.

ZEN Vision:M will survive Nuclear fallout.
Best for running IMO.
Im a Mountainfag (see pic) and i use my 3rd Gen Ipod Nano and allthough i've had a fair few crashes, jumps and bumps, its still all good. My advice is to get any MP3/4 player you want, and buy a Gel case for it.

I use it to run - it is win. I have dropped it at least 10 times and it's still been good to go. Occasionally it locks up if you switch songs more then 20 times in a row.

Remember to run with cheap headphones, its easy to rip the cord out if you are really pushing yourself and you start to lose composure! :P

<3 my creative zen m

That mother fucker is a beast, I used to use it at my old job while driving a forklift, and dropped it straight onto concrete from eight feet off the ground at least fifty times.

It still worked even after it had broken open and could be completely disassembled.
