Personally, the best improvements I have felt to my back have been by strengthening it: deadlifts and back extensions/similar stuff.
I know where I train martial arts many of the long time students do massage and chiro, so I imagine they are alright. Massage for muscle pain and stiffness, chiro for spinal issues.
I would say to keep in mind though, if your back is weak, any adjustments you get from chiro will be transitory and you won't get much benefit from them. I had originally gone to chiro for a while, but I didn't feel like I got much out of it until I actually started strengthening my back.
