Continued.
Most of these tasks will be greatly enhanced by endurance training because aerobic endurance relies mainly on your ability to get more oxygen to your muscles. This is because there are increases in the stroke volume ( from increases in cardiac volume, cardiac hypertrophy and ejection fraction ) , blood oxygen content ( increase in hemoglobin concentration ), capillary density, mitochondrial function, oxidative enzymes, intramuscular fuel stores etc. The combined effects of these improvements on cardiovascular fitness are much much bigger than the small increase caused by the increased cardiac strength ( which also occurs during endurance training )
The author concludes at the end that:"Actually even if you run marathons, interval training & weight lifting are superior to aerobic exercise. ". If that was true, then why aren't we seeing heavy weight lifters breaking new world records on marathon and other endurance events ?
So like I said in my previous post, they both have their own benefits and if you want to be healthy then you should do both strength and endurance training.
PS. I didn't provide any scientific articles because I didn't have much time ( and can't access most of the from my home ) , but there's tons of research that support my point.
