Hey guys, do you recommend the three step program (cleanse, tone, moisturise) for people with acne? Or should I just stick to acne solutions? Also, how do you shave areas on your face that have acne?
>> Anonymous
You don't have to do all that. Just wash your face often but not too often that it dries you out. The less shit you have on your face the better. Best way is to do an exercise til your face is swearing profusely and take a shower after.

Do this: http://www.acne.org/regimen-instructions.html
If it doesn't work: (Ro)accutane.

I've heard a lot about sweating it out. Is it really true? I don't exercise regularly, even if I do I don't sweat.

does moisurising help reduce redness/spots?

Fuck no Roaccutane for me. My doctor was gonna prescribe it for me, but I'd rather have acne than go crazy.

It can help.

I recommend cleaning your sheets every 7 days, wearing clean clothes, taking showers regularly (and washing your face). That is all.

if you have slight acne, go with washing your face twice a day, maybe using stridex wipes.

if you have moderately bad acne, go with benzaclyn (probably not even close to how it's spelled, whatever). you'll need a prescription.

if you are a super pizza face then i hear accutane is the stuff for you.

Hi, I'm just here to say that I cured a lot of my acne problems by REDUCING the number of times I wash my face in a day. Instead of doing it in the shower in the morning, and again at night, I simply moisturize again before bed instead of washing. It sounds crazy because we're taught to think that washing away the bacteria/dirt/dead skin cells is what acne ridden skin needs, but mine started looking a lo better after I decided to chill out a bit in what I was doing to it.

Everyone's face is different, so one regimen does not fit all needs. However, the one thing that seems to work for nearly everyone is Accutain =/

Shitfuck idiots need to realize that acne isn't about bad hygiene, it's a fucking hormone thing most of the time. If it were just some filth you can wash off, nobody would have to live with fucking fear of embarassment over his skin condition.

nope, i had moderate acne during my freshmen and sophomore years. At first I tried topical, I even got those wipes. Through trials and errors I found out that just washing your face and sweating out is the best way to clear your pores.

I even ordered proactive solutions. It worked ok but is a waste of money for what you get.

Used to have medium acne in HS and I tried just about everything short of what a doctor could give me. Soap, lotions, pads wipes whatever. Then I just started washing/rubbing my face with warm or hot water at various times during the day whenever I needed it just trying to wash off that grease that you can get. Now I don't have any acne at all except when I'm under a lot of stress at work, and then its like 1 or 2 zits on my neck or something.

Acne is mostly a problem of bad diet. It's just an outward indication of your shitty nutrition. Try and think of how many people in a healthy country that eats nutritious food have acne problems.

Then try and think of how many fatasses who slurp down soda 5 times a day have acne problems.

Not sure why people say that diet and acne aren't related.

I went on vacation and had 2 months of clean, fresh food and water only and my horrible acne cleared up.

Then it came back when I came back to North America.

I use 3 things, all while in the shower.
First I use Selsun Blue Moisturizing Dandruff Shampoo (yes on my face). It sounds strange, but I found a post somewhere online that said it worked and I happened to have some at home so I tried it. It helped improve my skin so I'm happy with it :D
Then I use a blackhead cleanser for my horrible nose, but you can skip this if blackheads aren't your problem.
Then I finish off with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. It comes in a clear, pump bottle and is orange in color.
After I shower I just put on a little bit of moisturizer.

If your acne doesn't go away in a few days of this, try asking a dermatologist on what to do.

Other tips:
Steaming your face every once in awhile is good as it opens your pores so you can get a deeper clean. Take a pot of water and boil it. Then take a towel and put your face -slightly- over the steam with the towel over your head, allowing the steam to reach your face. Don't put your face in directly the steam because that'll be painful and harm your skin D:
Remember to clean your pillow covers and sheets as oil could be trapped there and get on your face while you sleep.
And of course, don't pick at your acne. The more you touch your face with your fingers, the worse your acne will get. And definitely don't pop a pimple with your nails; under your nails are one of the filthiest places on your body.
