Hello /fit/, recently I have come into the mindset that "I will change" I have said it whenever looking at foods whenever thinking of driving as opposed to walking and I have seemingly chosen the better choice each time.

I want to change because I, am a lard ass.
242 lb's
6'0''

I want to drop at least 50 pounds, and I have dropped 8 lb's within the last month. my ideal goal that I would like to reach by 2010 is 180 lb's or either way 10lb's within that. It seems very attainable to me.

despite being heavy i'd say my diet is ok... I am a vegetarian and have been since I was 6 years old(only a vegetarian because I am allergic to pork, beef, chicken, and some types of fish)I do not eat candies, cookies, or other sugary foods, and have not had soda for 4 months.I have eaten nothing for one full week(other than four glasses of skim milk).I did this in preparation of Thanksgiving. Today I stuffed myself with tofurkey and finally decided to consult you.

I have no current workout regimen but I want to develop one, I think Cardio would is the better choice in my situation, I have been thinking about running back and forth to the end of my road twice in the morning(that would be about 3 miles total) and then trying to get the time from the begining of the road and back faster, and being able to run more time back and forth. I think this will drop a significant amount of weight over time.... but i'm unsure

suggestions on what to do to drop this weight would be good, changes in what my workout should be, anything you think would be helpful really are appreciated.

You should have done this before you went and starved for a week, jackass.

>or starters - do NOT do this. This is setting yourself up for failure. Starving yourself and then stuffing yourself is a recipe for disaster. When you don't eat enough calories, your body goes into "starvation mode", and your metabolism slows down - then if you binge afterwards, your body will hold onto everything you just ate because it was recently starving. It thinks it needs to hold onto every little bit of food you just binged on and it will all be stored as fat.

yea I know, I do not normally do that, it was just for this week. However saying I didn't feel starved, I wasn't so hungry that I was always looking at food.. for the most part, my stomach felt like normal.

I wasn't really suffering, at all... so I don't consider it starving

So stomach gave up on getting food. It's too bad brain didn't step in and fix things.

lol. I don't think you understand. This is how the human body works. This is how it functions whether you feel starved or not. You're ruining your metabolism.

when we say "starving" we mean eating below your daily caloric needs. There's an estimated number of calories that your body needs to function normally. We don't mean starving African baby starving.

It was. Starvation has nothing to do with whether you pull your head out of your ass long enough to notice it.

This makes more sense now that I have /fit/'s definition of starving... on an average day
I'd say my caloric intake is around 1500-2000 range

great. now you have to make sure you actually eat enough to lose weight. I know how backwards it sounds, but you have to eat to lose - you'll ruin your metabolism if you don't eat enough. you may find sites like thedailyplate.com to be helpful in tracking your intake.

Any specific fruits or foods that are good for increasing metabolism?

I eat a ton of pomegranates, lettuce, and unsalted almonds in a week

Jesus christ man. Get off your fucking fatass and start walking. 6 meals a day, one meal of vegetables, one of fruits, no more than 2300cals a day and oats for breakfast. Then come back after 3 months if you have the balls to follow this everyday.

>Get off your fucking fatass and start walking
already said I planned on running in the morning.
I walk from my house to college as opposed to driving as well(which might soon cease since snow has started)

but yea... oat's.... never really tried them.. just use water and eat them like that right?

No, it's not about stupid tricks like starving yourself or eating magical foods. This is where all you morons fuck up: instead of eating the proper amount of food and getting exercise, you look for the secret key to weight loss while totally failing to meet the basic requirements. CART, HORSE, OBSERVE ORDER.

>CART, HORSE, OBSERVE ORDER.

since I don't know much of the definitions /fit/ uses what is the meaning of this?

It means don't put the cart before the horse.
