Question about squats. I know with normal squats it's important to try to not let the knees bend over the toes, but with FRONT squats I'm reading that you want to let your knees go over your toes. Can anyone confirm this before I fuck up my joints?

The idea of not letting the knees get over the front toes is that you don't overstretch your knee tendons as far as I know.
The rule applies to every exercise.

the ideas of knees over toes is a myth/misconception.

they say that to prevent your heels from raising off the ground.

you basically want to stay as upright as possible, go as deep as possible, keep your heels on the ground, chest up, and lumbar arched.

stance width varies for skeletal structure, and you want your knees to be inline with your feet (ie not buckling)

in addition to that, the knee tendon thing only comes into play when you have the flexibility to hit absolute rock bottom. if you drop too fast with considerable weight and hamstring presses against the calves forcefully, it could produce a prying motion that pulls the knee joint apart.

this is only a real issue for olympic lifters who are training in their 1rm range and are freaky flexible.
