I'm going to be moving into a friend's house next month, and he has a dog. Unfortunately, I have pretty bad allergy to pet dander. His house has a lot of carpeting and they're all inside dogs. He doesn't have an air purifier and I was told by my doctor that getting anti-histamine injections for it would be hard because there are so many different breeds and it would be impossible for one serum to cover. If I'm around a dog for long periods of time, I can't breathe, I get a fever, my nose stuffs up, my throat gets full of mucus. (Less than a 24 hour period. It can range to 1 hour to around 10 until I get sick.) What can I do to minimize my allergy issues around pets? I don't want to have to move back in with my parents. Also, I tried benadryl and claratin in the past. Didn't do anything but make me tired.

My father used to have that but he got desensitized after a couple of months. That was with a hypoallergenic breed and an air purifier from the start.
