So I'm 27. I'm 5'6", and I'm about 100lbs. I'm a paramedic, but I'm leaving the field because the heavy lifting and shitty diet associated with shift work is taking its toll on my body.

I really want to gain weight, to have a normal body. But it's hard... I am just simply never hungry. And even when I am, the thought of trudging out to the store to buy food and cook it makes just ignoring the hunger easier.

I've tried working out and it does increase my appetite a bit, but it's really fucking embarrassing to be in a gym when you're 100 fucking pounds.

I've tried protein shakes and stuff, but all it does is make me feel bloated and not hungry for a while.

I don't even want muscle right now... I just want weight.

Sorry, but I'm afraid that the only way to put on any kind of good weight is to lift stuff and eat plenty of good carbs and protein. There's simply no way around it... unless you wanna put on land-beast weight, in which case drink 3 bottles of soda per day and eat lots of fried sugar.

Hm... Eat some kind of simple carb for breakfast, but make sure to eat protein and complex carbs for the remainder of the day. That should help you start eating, or at least it does for me. If you can't be bothered to cook, take out isn't a bad option. Most places do offer some non nutritionally deadening things.
Protein bars. Supplements. Frozen dinners. Canned tuna and brown rice will take you all of 8 minutes to prepare. Frozen vegetables. Apples and peanut butter. There are over 9000 ways to eat healthy on a tight schedule and budget with almost no effort.

No one should try to look good while at the gym; the most common sight is someone at least 50 lbs. overweight sweating buckets through way too tight spandex. You WILL NOT be the worst sight there, and on a more inspirational note, no one's opinion should stop you from bettering yourself in the first place. Now go lift some fucking weights.

Yes, cooking is a bitch, but there are packaged foods which aren't so bad for you. Eat 5 meals a day, each one 500-700 calories. You should aim for ~3000 calories a day. Eat energy dense food like nuts and meat if you get full quickly.

I'm 5'11" and currently around 152 lbs after gaining 17.

I have a similar lack of appetite. I haven't eaten 3 meals in a day ever in my life. I commonly feel nauseaus when I wake up and won't eat for several hours. Then I'll eat again 6-8 hours later.

I recently spent $1400 on free weights ($700 rack) since I am super cheap and don't like spending more than $1/hour use for anything I buy. After reading a bit however, it seems I'm supposed to intake 70 grams of protein a day to not lose muscle from exercising. This is 6 chicken burgers, or a lb of nuts,...any possible way of getting this much seems ridiculous to do on a daily basis.

I'm also holding off on any cardio since I've always been a runner and live in the frozen tundra called Canada. I'm uncertain how much lung damage breathing the air here causes from December through March.
