THANK YOU MIS/FIT/S!!!!
My starting weight was 260 on May 25th.
I stepped onto the scale this morning and I'm at 252.

Is this cool or what?

Thanks. I owe you so much for advice. I use The Daily Plate and it helps me a lot in counting my calories and watching what I eat. I haven't eaten the most healthy foods simply because of lack of availability, but simply watching your calorie intake can do the trick. I haven't been doing exercise either because of hectic schedules, but I'll tonight!

Haha I was going to make a post, but I just let someone go inb4 me lol.

I meant to say "I'll start tonight" or I will tonight, but I changed it while I typed haha.

You're welcome. Your work is far from done, though. Keep plugging away at it, you're doing good so far.

Yep. I also want to give more than a thank you post. While I have this thread up, might as well make it involve everyone.

ITT: YOU POST WHY YOU ARE LOSING WEIGHT AND HOW MUCH WEIGHT AND HOW MUCH PROGRESS AND THANK /fit/ IF THEY HAVE HALPED YOU OUT.

I'm 5'8 and 148. And one thing is its good that you have motivations as some girl. But never, NEVER do it for someone else. Do it for yourself.

And of course losing weight for health reasons, but main motivator is seeing a girl I like and not being able to do anything about it.

Your number of posts makes my troll sense tingle, regardless.

In Feb I was 288 lb. Now I'm 238 lb. I've lost 7 inches off my waist, can run 6k without stopping (HIIT for 3k - not real hiit though), and today I just squatted 130 lb after dicking around with lighter weights.

Everything, every single piece of advice I used, I got off /fit/. Whey protein, squats, the truth about spot reduction, caloric intake and metabolic matinance.

All of it.

I've been posting pics of myself every month, my next one is on the 27th. I'm hoping no one forgot about me.

I used to be in badass wrestling shape, but I let myself go once Uni started. Visiting /fit/ has inspired me to do more than just get drunk every weekend, and forge my body back into human steel. Thanks /fit/ for giving me the fire back.

Thanks very much

Well as motivation goes. One day I was balls-deep in a bag of confectioner's suger. And I just said "thats it, you listen to me now"

My workout is a custom 3 day split.

1) 6k run. Chest & Abs

2) 3k HIIT. Arms & Shoulders

3) 6k run. Legs & Back.

I eat 6 300 calorie meals a day.

I started at 260. For about a month or two I used Atkins diet and got down to 230, no exercise. Now, four months later I've been going to the gym 3-4 days a week and eating much healthier, balancing my carbs, protein, fat, etc.

I'm seeing slower and slower gains, but now at 209 that's probably to be expected. Really all I care about is turning this excess fat into muscle. Going to Myrtle Beach in one month...
>> Loser
Man this thing about the diets. I want to go on diets so badly, but I don't have access to decent healthy food because of dumb parents. They just feed me like it's a chore. Anything and everything in the fridge is either a condiment or expired, or RAMEN NOODLES. Fuck.
>> Anonymous
>>183924

Eating healthily isn't a diet.
>> Loser
>>183926
Well, Ramen Noodles isn't a good diet. I want to eat high protein low carb and fat foods. There's no fucking meat to do this. Only rice and macaroni and noodles and shit.
>> Loser
This morning, there was nothing except for some macaroni and expired ground chicken. I cooked the ground chicken using no oil. Put that aside. Put some olive oil in the pan and cooked the macaroni. I added some black pepper and basil seasoning to give it some flavor. Then put them together and ate it. Is this unhealthy? I was going to add eggs, but they went bad. There's a coffee roll that is looking pretty tempting; sitting in the freezer right now.

I live with my parents. I'm 17 and just starting college this summer. At the college, there are some restaurants, but all not what you would call healthy.

The thing is, whenever my parents do buy some groceries, they do it in small increments and they never last longer than a day because my brother would just come in and take the food and eat it for himself. Happens all the time. Last time we had some raw salmon fillets. I went out for school and I come home hoping to cook them for dinner and the next day's lunch or something. Guess what, he ate them.

Yah. Well I looked again after eating my breakfast and it went back up to like 256 or so. It's weird. But I'll try again tomorrow morning to see if it's just water weight.

Anyway, what's the problem?
>> Anonymous
>>183967
Don't weigh yourself everyday. Do it once a week, at roughly the same time every week. My weight fluctuated a lot too. When I was in the 230's it would bounce between 230 and 238 or something like that.

Don't get discouraged, just put weighing in on the back burner for a while and concentrate on eating right and exercise.
>> Loser
>>183974
Thanks for the advice. I'm not bummed out that it went a little back up. I'm grateful that I haven't actually GAINED weight for once. I've been 260 since I was like 16 or 15. Up until then, I gained weight like crazy. Maybe 10 pounds a year since 4th grade or so.

For the first time I've actually maintained weight after a year.

Yah. I told my mom that she failed as a parent and her reaction was blaming me somehow. She yelled at me and I got so pissed that I just started bleeding from the nose. She's so hypocritical. She's overweight also and everyday she drinks sweet shit and eats like a queen while I stay home and sometimes she feeds me her leftovers (if any). Then she has the gall to say that I don't get exercise and I sit on my ass all day when all she does is just drive around places and eat at restaurants. I used to tell her to buy me a basketball so I could play and drive me here and there so I can be active outside and hang out with friends. She would say no and tell me how inconvenient that is for her. Sorry for going so off topic.

I have a question, this summer, since I'm going to be at school nearly all day, I was wondering which of the following restaurants would be the healthiest to eat at daily:

La Salsa - some mexican grill restaurant
Starbucks - drinks and pastries
Village Cafe - sorry don't know anything about this place
Cheesecake Factory - expensive lol
Burger King - sorry not going here, my friend and I got harrassed by two nigger bitches last time
Jack in the Box - :\
Panda Express - poorly made Chinese food with extra grease and less flavor
Yoshinoya - beef bowls and chicken bowls and shit
El Pollo Loco - chicken mexican style

Which is healthiest to eat at?

I told my mom I wanted to bring my own lunch and she said bring sandwiches. I hate sandwiches not only because they're carbs, but also because they're just not that good. And there's nothing to even make a sandwich with. There's not even fucking bread at my house.

Go somewhere where you can get a salad and small portions of food, like a single, normal-sized sandwich with stuff like some lettuce, tomatoes, a slice or two of cheese, and two or three slices of chicken breast.

Panera Bread jumps to mind.

Dude...you do realize that carbs aren't bad, right?

In fact, studies show that eating a igher concentration of carbs in relation to fat and protein helps to promote weight loss.

This is probably due to the fact that carbs give you energy quickly, which make you WANT to exercize.

Eat what the food guide pyramid suggests, just cut calories by about only 200 per day in addition to doing 30 minutes of cardio per day and doing weight training.

This will not only make you lose weight within the margins for healthy weight loss (500 calories per day, or, 1 pound per week), but will keep the weight from coming back as soon as you end your diet.

My BMR says that I should eat 2,159 calories a day in order to lose 2 lbs. a week.

The image shows how much I've eaten. On average, my intake is:
Carbs - 50%
Protein - 20-25%
Fat - 25-30%

What should I fix?

Personally i go with:

60% protein
20% carbs
20% fat

Lost about 60lb so far combined with alot of exercise.

Problem for you is if your parents wont buy chicken, vegetables etc.. you cant exactly change it much.
>> Loser
>>184061
To achieve that, I would have to constantly eat salads and like a fillet of some lean meat? Name a meal I could constantly eat that would get me to those numbers.

I'm going to go think about the girls I'm interested in and hopefully become more motivated.

>>184067

I mostly go through protein shakes, cans of tuna, chicken, turkey, extra light spreadable cheese, fruits & vegetables.

Oh yah, I'm going to Ralphs tonight after Souplantation for dinner.

Just talked to my mom and she said ok. Weird. Tell me what to buy!
>> Loser

>> Anonymous
>>184074

Depends on what way you want to go. If you're doing it the way i am, its basically lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables and seeds/nuts.

When buying food just look for food thats high in protein, low in carbs/saturated fat and cut out sugar. Some of the packaged food is ok, but i still dont like eating it, an example of what i'd consider acceptable for packaged food would be:

350kcl
25-50g protein
10g carbs
-of which sugars 3g
fat 15g
-of which saturates 2g

I got some chicken in a tomato sauce with baby vine tomatoes and herbs which was about 50g protein with 2 chicken breasts, and about 2g carbs, that was about the only packaged meal i'd buy on a regular basis for convenience.
>> Loser
>>184077
Ok I'll do this. Ralphs has a weak seafood station though. Well anyway, I'll go for the chicken, beef, fish, fruit like bananas and strawberries, make salads using lettuce, spinach, red wine olive oil vinaigrette, olives, maybe some cheese, cherry tomatoes, and maybe some other fruit.

Not beef. Aim to be eating white meat, not duck though its full of fat. Also stop going to fucking restaraunts you lazy little shit. I spent 2 years studying cookery at college where we ran our own restaurant and worked part-time at a decent restaurant, nothing is as healthy as you think there. Make it yourself and stop wasting money, your mother is one lazy fucking whore.

Thank you. I needed to hear everything you just said. I'll stop going to restaurants to eat unless there's no choice. The only income I've ever had was from graduation where relatives gave me money. I have about 500 dollars left. I'll buy some new earphones tomorrow for my iPod so I can listen to some tunes while running.

Don't forget eggs as a great and cheap source of protein, there is actually proof that eggs for breakfast as part of a good diet helps increase weight loss.
http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/weight_loss/weight_loss_tips/eat_eggs.htm

Just make sure you cook them healthily (poach, boil, scramble) and eat them with good carbs (a wholegrain bagel or toast, preferably seeded if you can get it.) Also they are proven not to have an adverse effect on your cholesterol as although they are high in dietary cholesterol, they are low in saturated fat, and dietary cholesterol has little effect on the level of cholesterol in your blood.
>> Anonymous
>>184142

Forgot to mention eggs. I dont eat alot of them, though i probably should start working them in. If you cook them hard-boiled, then keep them in an airtight container in the fridge they are decent for just batching every couple of days, only takes 15 mins in the morning to boil, cool and de-shell.

I used to make gordon ramsay style scrambled eggs alot (cooking in butter in the pan, serving them under-cooked on the plate so they cook by the time they reach the table), tasted absolutely amazing (nothing else done with eggs could compare to the taste of them) but the butter is a killer.

You can work them in pretty much any meal of the day.
>> Anonymous
>>184147
Yeh, I tend to have them for breakfast with wholemeal toast and a bit of veggie or fruit on the side, the main reason being they're quick as anything to cook. If you're doing scrambled egg you don't need to put much butter in the pan, a tiny knob is plenty use a decent pan as well and it won't stick at all, also if you can get hold of baby spinach or normal spinach tear a handful into the scrambled egg about halfway through cooking it (when it's still a bit liquid). Tastes great and even more good stuff.

If you had 2 eggs with a drop of semi-skimmed or skimmed milk (or the US equivalents, I know your milk is different) with the spinach and say a tomato, its a great way of starting the day.

>>184142
>>184147
I'll just stick to boiling. Should I be worrying about the yolks though? I hear they are high in cholesterol and fat.
>> Anonymous
>>184156
Nope, unless you are eating ALOT of eggs regularly don't worry about the yolks, they will add a few more calories and they are high in cholesterol but the fat in the is mostly good (low saturated) and the cholesterol has very little impact on the level of cholesterol in your blood, they're also the bit which is pack full of vitamins, minerals and choline.
>> Anonymous
>>184160

More than half the calories found in eggs come from the fat in the yolk; a 100 gram chicken egg contains approximately 10 grams of fat. People on a low-cholesterol diet may need to reduce egg consumption, although only 27% of the fat in egg is saturated fat (Palmitic,Stearic and Myristic acids) that contains LDL cholesterol. The egg white consists primarily of water (87%) and protein (13%) and contains no cholesterol and little, if any, fat.

http://www.nutritionandeggs.co.uk/eggs_nutrition/nutrition1.html

You still need fat in your diet (good fats), and its only 1g saturated fat, not that devestating.
>> Loser
>>184165
Oh I see. I'll load up on eggs then.

I was wondering, would it be smart to eat salads when you're going for the 60 protein 20 carb 20 fat diet?
I was looking at the salads nutritional numbers and it's like 20 percent protein, 30 percent fat, and 50 percent carbs...
>> Anonymous
>>184172
If the fat is coming from a good source, which I presume it is (olive oil in the dressing?) then thats fine, good lunch as the carbs will keep you going.
>> Anonymous
>>184172

Eat your carbs earlier in the day, i aim to avoid eating them past around 4pm.

Dont know what kind of salad you are reffering to, i'm guessing mayonnaise based ones or something, you can do it without them. Just mixing loads of leaves with red onion, carrot strips, peppers, seeds, lime juice & coriander/chilli oil etc.. wont be piling on carbs and bad fats.
>> Loser
>>184196
Nah, the only good mayonnaise based salad is potato salad. The salads I'm talking about refer to the vinaigrettes, etc.
>> Loser
>>184196
I can't use honey mustard? I'm not used to using lemon/lime juice for dressing. It's too virgin (lack of a better word).
