I was just wondering if personal trainers are really worth it?

Depends on your fitness level and experience.
If you've never lifted weights you might want some one to show you the ropes so you have proper form.

All I've done is run. I haven't done any weight training.

So I guess train with a trainer for a few weeks and then tell them to piss off?

Or could I possibly get the same thing over the internet (customizable workout routines, videos on proper form, etc.)

just work out with friends who know the right way to do stuff and can spot for you and stuff like that.

basically same thing, but free.

Get a trainer for a week at the most. He/she will be able to show you how to do different lifts and can tell you good dietary plans. Pester the shit out of them with questions about lots of different exercises and write it all down so you don't have to use them more than necessary.

I was happy with a personal trainer, but I bought more time with them than I needed; it was good because I was a total beginner and they showed me how to use various machines properly, and how to otherwise work out in a way that would maximize the results I wanted and to NOT hurt myself.

depends how ill informed you are. also, trainers vary drastically. some are great and others deplorable

I haven't done much exercise outside of running/biking.

So I am a bit of a newb when it comes to a lot of exercises.

Instead of sinking money on a PT, is there a website with videos and tips on how to lift, etc

The girl in the picture is letting her ass sag and is defeating the whole purpose of that shitty retarded ball. It depends on who you consult with, be careful of opinionated fad guys. Go learn some olympic lifting, that's worth paying for.
