What does /fit/ think of fasting?
>> Anonymous
If it's for religious reasons that's cool. But if you're doing it to lose weight it's very dumb. Not eating activates your bodies "HOLY CRAP I'M STARVING" MODE, i.e. slow metabolism mode. Your body will make as much fat as it can to get you through the bad hunting/nut gathering season and start eating away at muscle. Your body will eat some fat too, but that's a drop of good water in a swimming pool of shit..

Well what are the other purposes for it? I've heard of people do it for 40 days...Why would you want to do that? I would never do it, other than for spiritual reasons.

No, doing it for religious reasons just amplifies the stupidity.

Because some people are stupid and will do anything to lose weight, even if all the effort they're putting into it is for naught. However, every time I hear of a month long fast, it's for a spiritual reason. That is perfectly fine with me.

Because doing it as a protest is pretty gay amirite? Also, doing it in order to understand the feeling of poverty and hunger is pretty buttsecks too.

Is this a serious question?

Yes. If no one was listening to you before you started starving yourself there was a damn good reason for it, namely that you are just bawling over minor shit or your argument sucked. So you play the concern game. Fuck that, I hope people that starve themselves die.

>Also, doing it in order to understand the feeling of poverty and hunger is pretty buttsecks too.
Why do you need to experience something in order to find out it fucking sucks? That's retarded.
