Sure is, check out ed coan, the guys records are being beaten, sure. But the guys doing it are like 30-40% heavier than him.
sure he was big by normal standards, but compare him to most powerlifters and he's teeny tiny.
Strength and size do correlate, to a degree, but you can train to have alot more strength than you look like you could have. Or, train on a normal 5x5 program, and just eat maintanence calories so you'll just look more defined (because you'll still be gaining SOME muscle, or losing some fat, you wont gain fat or lose muscle)
just gotta remember to get 1g protein\lb of weight every day.
