Can anyone suggest exercises for legs, namely thigh areas, that I can do while sitting in chair working. Don't have any equipment or anything, just want something to do that doesn't take much thought while I type.

Nope. Get off your chair and start running.

Get a treadmill and unicycle. Sit and go.

you can put your legs uot in front of you, get your ass off the chair, put the ball of your palm on the edge of the chair and do "chair push ups". type with your forehead.

results: over-developed triceps and a bloody forehead. enjoy.

Not while sitting, kind of...

From martial arts, shiko dachi, or horse stance or even sumo stance. The feet go out about twice the width of the shoulders, and the knees bend lowering the body into a position similar to that of riding a horse.

Picture is of Sensei Govender of the Goju Ryu Jundokan.

You could try holding an inflatable ball between your knees, squeeze and hold for a few seconds, relax, and repeat. Then do the same with a bungee cord tied around your knees, except this time pull the knees apart, hold, and relax. These will work your adductors and abductors. Everyone in the office will think you're a weirdo, and to be honest you'd be better off in the gym, but meh...

Get out of your chair and do Hindu squats.

And then Hindu squats while holding something heavy.

And then one-legged explosive squats. Go down on one leg, lift the other up, then "jump" to a standing position using only one leg.
