how much do you weight now? i climb as well (mixed, ice, and soon trad) and i'm 6'2" 162-165# around 8-9% body fat
I figure I could gain a few more pounds maybe 170-172 area but it's hard for me to gain proper weight (meaning all muscle an no fat). I don't really see the advantage for it just yet, but I will find out this winter when I hit the mountains again. Last year I was under 160# and felt a little weak on some routes requiring strength rather than endurance. Over the past 6-7 months i've been putting a lot of effort and training 5 days a week with this schedule.
Sunday: Climbing Specific (On climbing wall or grip work on finger/campus board and <90 minutes Endurance (Running) or >90 minutes Endurance (Running) Monday: Chosen Workout (usually a metcon from gymjones.com) Tuesday: Rest Wednesday: Mtnathlete.com Thrusday: Strength Training (Usually this format Workout: (1) Work up to 1RM Front Squat (2) 3 Rounds X Front Squat @ X% 1RM) and Climbing Specific Friday: Rest Saturday: Mtnathlete.com (Fridays workout)
been working good, gained a lot of strength and haven't lost any endurance at all. in fact, when the ice hits over this winter i have confidence i will dominate the routes i had trouble on last year. mtnathlete.com has been a godsend to me
