Greetings /fit/

I am planning on entering the armed forces and need some advice on getting into decent shape for the type of training I'll be undergoing. Current height/weight = 5'9'' / 140 lbs

As of now, I'm doing mostly body-weight exercises (sit-ups, push-ups) combined with a lot of cardio (running, cycling). Anyway, I have access to a bench and some free-weights, but don't have any sort of routine to use them effectively.

Advise.

PS is it worth dropping somewhere in the area of $300 on a power-rack to start squatting/doing pull-ups? Someone linked me the 5x5 Stronglift website and I'm debating getting myself setup with that program.

Either get a power rack, or some bumper plates and squat stands. It's worth the money. Stronglifts or Starting Strength are good programs.

Run and pullups for Marines, run and pushups for Army.

Good luck. Enjoy 4 shitty years.
