Any Cross-Country fags on today?
My team's first pseudo-mandatory practice was today. We kicked ass against all the other teams in our conference and region last yea?r. We plan to do the same this time even after losing half of the varsity runners and the fastest 3A girl in the state.

Do any better runners have tips someone who plans to break 18:30 (from over 20:00)? I never tried to hard the past three years, but I want to step up and make a difference.

Keep practicing with your team. Don't skip one practice, ever, and just keep running. That's really all there is to it. Oh, and during the actual race, get it in your head that you NEED to, absolutely HAVE TO pass the guy in front of you. After you've passed him, then start advancing on the next guy.

XC is in the fall/winter, at least where I live, so you should be able to get better these next few months.

I'll keep that in mind. I've found that If you can't pass anyone, at least don't let anyone beside teammates pass you. Cut off other runners, run directly in front of them, maybe even throw some bows if you get the chance. Just don't let them pass.

Yeah, that works, too, but the main thing is you want to get as far up as possible.

By the way, depending on how many people are at the meet, you can sometimes actually push people at the start of the race. Just make it look accidental. If they fall, good job.

Problem is, if they fall at the start, the refs call a do over. IT completely ruins a lot of runner's mentality.

Oh, nevermind that then. The refs here aren't that soft.
