ADD IRL :( Anonymous
hello friends. I'm struggling on paying attention/reading assignments in school. I went to the doctor to get diagnosed for ADD, but they want to do testing first. Turns out that the testing will cost me 700 fucking dollars. Is this normal, because i don't know where i can fork over this kind of money. I'm a poor college student after all

Insurance not paying for anything?

Its not that big of a deal. You don't need to get it treated most of the time. Only if its so noticeable in daily life that its stopping work flow. I have it and really don't mind it unless I am at work.

Yeah, but the testing costs 1600 dollars. but they want 300 dollars up front, and 100 dollars a month afterwards

Ever consider sensitivity to caffeine or sugar? Also make sure you're getting all of your vitamins/minerals.

ADD is often overdiagnosed.

Nah. I drink nothing but water, and take my vitamins daily. I've always been placed in lower end classes as a child, so it's nothing new. Right now i'm behind in my reading because it takes me 4-5 hours to read only 30-40 pages of easy reading because i constantly want to get up and move :(

Around my college, everyone knows about this one sketchy osteopath. You meet with him, he charges you $100, and he prescribes you a ton of Adderall.

I don't know what's worse. That or charging me 700 dollars for something that really can't be diagnosed with simple overpriced testing :(

ok, i've always wanted to ask an ADDer anonymously this: Isn't that school shit just boring as hell and you don't see the point to it? Like, I don't know, I'm not ADD. I mean, does there exist some easy books that get you riveted to plow through them at significant speed change? I remember lots of school was boring as crap.

tl;dr otherwise just ignore the Anon who doesn't bother to read ADD up on Wikipedia, he won't understand anyway.

Health insurance should do most of it

I suggest you do get up and do something. If your collage has a gym head down there with your books, get one an elliptical or a bike and go hard. If not take your books outside and read around campus, whenever you feel the need to start moving, go for a short walk and switch benches.

ADD is fucking bullshit. Id do good in school too if i had a constant supply of amphetamines.

No fucking fair.
