Hey /fit/,

This is sam froma few weeks ago, I was a fat dude wanting advice for how to shed weight and get healthier. well so far I've lost 10 lbs, stayed hydrated and have alot more energy, with the hiring into a labor intensive job this may help atop my daily workout, any tips on what would make a high energy meal other then a MRE? spreading my meals out has been the biggest help since I dont have to spend time making big meals anymore. but still what would be my best shot for high energy meals while at work. [Note: I don't like condiments.]

What the hell? You're eating MREs while trying to lose weight?

Not only will they fill you well past the limit of caloric intake they'll block off your inner plumbing. They're called Meals Refusing to Exit for a reason.

I've not eaten a MRE in years, however they are th only high energy thing I can think of right off the bat, Im wanting something I can munch on during lunch and my breaks to keep my energy up so I can work effectively while not compromising my weight loss efferts, also this would be to keep my body from going into "save" mode.

Clif Bars;
decent taste, decent nutrition, reasonable price, just enough calories to make for a filling snack.

Yes, the entire american military force relies on a diet that will constipate you.

soy is the cheapest possible protein source used in any commerical product

it was originally designed as 'filler' to give animal food (cattle, dogs) better 'body', now they market it as the be all and end all for health

tl dr. cliff bars use subpar protein source

(THIS IS NOT AN ARGUMENT ON THE +/- of SOY IN GENERAL)

I like raw Soy beans =), not cooked, for some reason their pod isnt as yummy.

Erm, raw soy can be poisonous.

Sleep tight.

I've gotten by on eating MREs, but what I did was split it up through the day instead of eating it all at once. Gotta save the desert for last. Especially the peanut m&ms.

you are trying to lose weight and eat meals which will provide you with something like 1,200 calories at one shot? no you don't need that......protein shake with fiber bar(10gram a piece fiber bars? anybody they are always sold out at my grocery store already) or benefiber mixed in....you could get caesin thats supposed to be good I don't know much about that....you could bring cans of tuna with you.....how about eggs and oatmeal when you wake up.......and then fiber bar and protein shake(50gram of protein one for lunch)
