ITT, post the names of books, videos, or awesome websites that /fit/ users would find helpful.

Ideally, they should be books or videos that we could get torrents or rapidshits of. Be sure to mention how the book/video/website helped you (i.e. lose weight? build muscle? improve heart health? etc.).

I'm pretty new to all this, so I'm afraid I don't have anything to really contribute. However, I did just download a torrent of "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto, which might help me. This guy seems legit.

So anyway, post away.

Starting Strength and Dinosaur Training should be required reading.

Dave Draper's Brother Iron, Sister Steel is a fucking masterpiece of bodybuilding writing. If you like the sport, you have no reason not to read it.

Scientific mis/fit/s will enjoy the hell out of the late Mel Siff's Supertraining. I read that book every day for two years and I was never able to make sense of it, but you might be able to translate from scientician to meathead better than I can.

The Weightlifting Encyclopedia is almost everything you need to know about Olympic lifting.

Rock Iron Steel by Steve Justa is fun if you like reading the lunatic ravings of a prairie hermit. He also has some fucking golden Youtube videos.

Good one. I forget about the female mis/fit/s.

You ever read stumptuous?

you got it right, done all of it but super training and starting that one in a week, if you would like to know shit instead of just lifting the amount it says on the internet then there are wast amounts of literature you should have a look at. Personally I am really getting interested in kinesiology, plyo theory (Verkhovsky, Bumpa)and such.

Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle by Tom Venuto changed my life. Explains the basics of what you should be eating and what you should be doing in the gym. Might wanna modify the workout if you're training more for strength than muscle size, but it's still a good nutritional guide if nothing else. First chapter is all about motivation as well, it'll help you get the willpower to stick with it.

Stumptuous is very good reading. It's aimed at female trainers and the information is invaluable.

John Berardi's "Scrawny to Brawny" has a retarded title, but I love it because it's the only training book I've ever read that has a grocery shopping list in it. Grocery shopping is the hardest thing to get used to when you're starting out, and he makes it idiot-proof.

No such thing to my knowledge, iff /fit/ surprised me on this I would be very happy though

It's not really the kind of book that gets rshared.

I know, but the price to order it online with shipping is just laughable.

To be fair, it's basically the only source of income for the author's widow.

still don't justify adding almost 100$ for outside USA shipping, if the price was reasonable I would buy it.

Shipping still retarded there?

If it's any comfort, Supertraining isn't really a book about training. It's a science text that's basically a survey of a bunch of research and training methods, with especial focus on the Eastern Bloc. There are some interesting ideas in there, but realize that the last edition was done years ago. No groundbreaking ideas, just a solid education.

That is what I want though ;) the education. I might be able to lend it from a university library at the state sports school, only thing is that judging from other people talking about it the month they allow you to have it might be a bit to little.

no comfort at all, because that's exactly what i want.

While it may be great, it's not the end-all-be-all program. Some people may have different goals than what it's set-up to do. I, for one, like it (obviously), and while it's a great suggestion for anyone, it's not "/thread".
