Hi /fit/, broke my jaw a couple days ago. I'm wired shut for 4-6 weeks, and as such I can only eat (fairly thin) soups and smoothies. I've pretty much accepted the fact that i'm going to lose some amount of weight, but I'd like to minimize that as much as I can.

So, what should I do? My doctor's advice was basically 'gatoradelol', so I've mostly been drinking that and chicken broth... But I can't help but think I should be drinking more. Any advice? Miracle drinks? I'm having a fair bit of nausea at this point so milk (or a milkshake!) is out of the question for now.

Also, is there anything I can do to lower this fucking awful swelling?

Thanks.

There are products which are intended for people who can't eat solid food in order to maintain your nutrition.

One such product is called Ensure. They have shakes which contain lots of good shit.

Do some research, do some googling.

Same thing happened to me about 8 years ago.

Did about 6 weeks with nothing but BEEF CHUNKY and Fruit Smoothies. Everything through a blender, of course.

Yeah, I've checked out Ensure, and it looks alright except the second ingredient on the list is sugar. I mean, I know I'm trying to not lost weight here, but I've largely avoided sugar in the past and I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to be getting a lot of it again. I will do some googling though, thanks

Hm, those look pretty good! Thank you.

So... Is there nothing I can do for the swelling, other than ice?
