question

are there a such thing as weighted air crunches?
are they godly?
any other Non machine alternatives for abdominal workouts? Looking for high high intensity, low rep, weighted workouts, so no legups or crunches.

1) grab barbell
2) strap to legs with weights
3) Do reverse crunches 5x5
4) ???
5) Profit

yeah leg crunches, they're pretty good, but I don't like doing them, hurts my back.
I also have no way of safely strapping a weight to my legs.

still, are there a such thing as weighted air crunches?
strap weight to legs, put yourself in chin-up position, lift legs to 90 degree angle

note: strapping weights being held down by gravity whilst doing an air crunch creates more static friction for the weight vs strapping them to your leg and doing reverse crunches.

If not, you just invented it

I don't understand how the fuck squats build abs..
not to refute the fact that it does, but my understanding of muscles is limited.

How does the motion of a squat build abs when the movement doesn't oppose the ab, it flows with it.

because you are lifting using your entire body, SQUATZ work almost everything, hence why they are the best exercise you can do

>>439110
yeah but wouldn't a squat work your back muscles, since the weight is opposing your back, not your abs?
muscles don't push, they only pull, so if the weight is pushing on your abs, i can't understand how your abs can respond and be strengthened.

When you have a big weight on your shoulders, your abs are contracting hard to keep the weight from crushing your spine. Your lower back is contracting hard. Your obliques are contracting hard. It's the only effective way to make continuous strength gains for the abdominals, crunches are actually giving a bigger workout for your psoas and TFL.

LOL shut the fuck up noob

>>439116
because on the way down, you're contracting your abs, and you're stretching them on the way up

To stabilize your torso both your abs and back muscles have to be contracted. The natural function of your abs is to stabilize your torso with isometric contractions, which is exactly what they're doing during a squat, deadlift, and overhead press.

I squat and deadlift in the 400s, and while my bodyfat is too high to really see a six pack, I can definitely feel all sorts of bumpy shit underneath. This is with ZERO direct ab work over the last year that I've been lifting seriously.

Oh, to be a stupid noob, so proud with your data that muscles don't push. Yet you don't know anything about concentric and eccentric contractions, and that's whats confusing your limited grasp of the issue.

You're a pansy little faggot thats what you were thinking
