Numb After Squats? Juggy
Okay so I just got back from the gym. Had a killer workout, haven't had one this intense in quite some time.

Anyways, so I did squats today. I've been doing them for a few years now and my form is quite good as I never get back pains from doing them. However, I just switched over to a new form and I never use the neck cushions anymore. I'm currently at 3 plates and a 25 on each side, and I do 3 sets of 5 at that weight.

So I finish the three sets and I realize that my right hand is numb. No big deal I think, it's probably temporary, and I move on to bench. Warmup was fine, but when I went to try my usual of two plates on each side, my right arm completely failed. Like, my left arm would go 100%, but my right arm could only go %75. It's been two hours now, and it's still like that, like I can't get all the nerves to fire at once, and it still feels numb and shaky.

I think I pinched or damaged a nerve when I did the squats without a neck cushion, and now I'm a gimp on my right side. Has this ever happened to you /fit/? Will it heal? Will I be a gimp for life?!

tl,dr; I pinched a nerve doing squats and now my right arm is numb. Is this uncommon and when will it heal?

Uh, describe "numb" in more detail (what parts of your arm? your whole arm? stab-it-with-a-knife-and-feel-nothing numb or tingly numb?) so I can try to figure out which nerve got pinched.

Why don't you call a doctor?

Everyone on /fit/ is a doctor. Besides, I'm relative sure it'll go away with time and I'm not concerned enough to call a real doctor. I'm more curious as to whether this has happened to anyone else.

I feel it most in my thumb actually, when I try to press my thumb against the middle knuckle of my index finger, though my whole hand feels kind of tingly. I can still feel temperature, tactile, pain sensations, etc. I just can't exert as much force as I normally can, as if not all the nerves want to cooperate.

Sounds like your median nerve. It should probably be gone by the time you wake up tomorrow. If it hasn't gotten any better in 24 hours though, go see a real doctor. I'm just a med student.

Well, I googled it and it seems like a not too uncommon problem. It is either a pinched nerve on my upper back/shoulder area, or my carpal tunnel in that hand.

The doctors will just tell me to wait a few days, but I'll go see them anyways tomorrow.
