4 strength, halp /fit/. Anonymous
I didn't pay attention in gym class, so I come to you /fit/.

I have two years to make myself healthy and strong. Strong, like, all over. I can dedicate a decent portion of my day to an exercise ritual. Any suggestions? Just buy a few weights or do a shit load of situps/pushups?

Truth be told, I'll be nineteen in two years and I refuse to stay in my house being dead weight to my family. I am an intelligent individual but I fucked up school and I can't fit in with this society. I'll fucking suffocate.

I am going to learn to be completely, entirely self sufficient (includes becoming physically healthy/strong, learning to gather/hunt/survive) and then I will pack a bag and find a nice place to live out the rest of my life. Yea, I want to be a hermit. You can make fun of me now.

Books man: Go read some books on exercise and/or anatomy. Learn what muscles are where, and what they actually do. Try Strength Training anatomy: search for it in RS.

start with a basic workout with some light weights (5 lbs, then 10 lbs, then 15... dumbbells preferably): squats, lunges, rows, back and front press, bench press and curls with the weights. 3 sets with each exercise, with lotsa of reps (20, then 15, then 10). This will help get you on track for a routine. Once you can do this, add more weight, then cut the reps (15, then 12, then 10) repeat.

to gain muscle, you need to be challenging your muscles. Basically, make your workout soemthing you CANNOT do in its entirety. Build up to its entirety, then change it (with different exercises and heavier weights).

buy an ab wheel also, as well as a chin up bar. Join a damn sport to, there are recreational leagues for nearly everything. probably even close to where you live. the structure helps, and helps you build a support system (which you need and want, even fi you feel like you need to be self-sufficient)
