/fit/, how do YOU test your bodyfat percentage? I wanted to see what mine was so I could track it instead of scale numbers in my fitness quest, but I'm pretty sure that this number is way off even though I'm not extremely skinny, fat, or fit, which are the things that they say can throw the results.

Your Results
You have 18.4% body fat.
You have 27.6 Pounds of fat and 122.4 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

This puts me only .4 over the "professional athelete" range.... which made me giggle as I can barely run a mile without walking.

Even if you don't wanna respond, you should still check out the "Average American" fat percentages, pretty neat info there.

You have 13.9 Pounds of fat and 184.1 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

I'd like to get to about 210-220, I think that's an ideal athletic weight for maximum performance, but I'm just enjoying the ride right now

You have 8.4% body fat.

You have 11.1 Pounds of fat and 120.9 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).
I don't think this is correct at all. I'm pretty sure there's more fat than that.
>> Anonymous
this is retarded,

someone with single digit bodyfat can have anything from a 26 inch waist to a 34, easily
>> Anonymous
>>478843
yeah it's seriously unerestimating bodyfat.

im the 184 lean 7% guy, but im about 198lbs and probably more like 10-12% bf
>> Anonymous
I did it as accurately as I could, and got 'less than 0%, this is impossible'

And I've got enough fat on my stomach to grab a handful when I'm sitting down. This 'test' is bullshit.

Oh and, if you got less than 0 percent, are you sure you measured right / didn't mis-type somehow?

i think he'll regret this most.

Although he did get the hip hearts covered. So I guess he regretted those. Probably because boy + little hearts tattooed on him = faggy

You have 13.5% body fat.

You have 13 Kilograms of fat and 83 Kilograms of lean (muscle, bone, body water)

Not that bad, i weighed 110 kilos early last year and i have quite a few injuries inbetween.

yeah their bones adapted to become machine like in the slavery days

i actually did this honestly
i was just going to rip this apart, but i decided to play along

You have 1% body fat.

You have 1.9 Pounds of fat and 188.1 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

BF% mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in an factual sense if its anything but UWW, Bodpod, DEXA, MRI, or very very expensive supine BIA.

sure, calipers can be fun for 'relative' tests (today is X, 6 weeks from now is X+/- Y), but mean about as much as this internet test

You have 7.5% body fat.

You have 11.9 Pounds of fat and 148.1 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

kindly explain what any of those acronyms mean, and how to use them or where to get them?

If you read my post, I specifically said that I thought this reading was way off and ASKED for input like this.
>> Anonymous
>>479235
googled and checked it, so you're saying that the only ways to do it are medical procedures and/or classic water displacement?

Eh, I definitely just read an article where they tested a fuckton of scales, some of which measured body fat percent, and compared it to what the same people who stepped onto the scales got when they used the water displacement method.

yes. if you want an 'absolute bf%'

otherwise, enjoy your +/- 10% on the relative measures.
>> Anonymous
>>479256
also UWW isnt magic, but atleast its better than calipers.

DEXA isnt even the gold standard anymore
>> Anonymous
>>479358

no the point of my post was that they found scales that were reliably accurate.
>> Anonymous
You have 10.5% body fat. You have 15 Pounds of fat and 128 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

Sounds about right.
>> Anonymous
>>479403
"reliably accurate" is highly relative

sure, and 10% +/- is 'good enough' for most americans

granted, my views are skewed because i had access to ALL of those while @ uni, and friendly technician away from the bodpod @ my clinic

Bleh, 9%. No way in hell is it that low after slacking for nearly two months.

You have 5.8% body fat.

You have 10.6 Pounds of fat and 173.4 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

I think my freakishly developed forearms (rock climber) probably threw it off a bit. I should actually be a little closer to 8-10 I think.

you use a caliper on your hip

there is no way I have a 7.5% body fat. That is waay fucking off I'm pretty sure its more around 14-15%

I'm 2.5% underneath what is said to be a healthy amount for someone my race. I'll take that as a compliment, insofar as I can trust these results.

rawwwrrr. Read the article if you're going to be condescending. They threw out any scales that were more than 4 percent off.

I really don't think this measures accurately. I'm hoping to god it does, though, since an 18.1% for a woman is pretty darn good.
