BATHING -- let's talk about it Anonymous
Not to stray TOO far from fitness itself, but I'm curious how everyone bathes. How often, baths vs showers, habits, etc...

*25 year old male*
Frequency -- 2 showers per day avg (one morning, one later due to sweat/exercise/etc), never go more than 24 hours without one
Hair -- first dandruff shampoo, then some kind of blue/green "aqua mist" type shit
Body -- Ivory bar soap with a wash rag
Duration -- 15 minutes per shower
Temperature -- warm/hot mostly but then pure cold for a minute or so at the end (just a habit)
Facial Stuff -- Noxema creamy soap stuff, lather on prior to shower

I also wash my face once or twice per day outside of showering, since it tends to get oily and sweaty when I do shit outside. I should probably get some kind of moisturizer, since my face gets fucking dry and burned feeling after shaving.

Ok, your turn if you're so inclined.

frequency- once every other day, sometimes less, almost never more
hair/ body - whatever's out, i never mind
duration - ~30 min
temp - HOT! then I do the same cold thing at the end so I'm not freezing drying off
facial - sometimes anti-acne cream (though not really needed) usually just a once over with a washcloth

beard doesn't grow, no need to shave

Frequency - Once a day, in the morning, regardless of physical activity throughout the day. I produce very little body heat, so I sweat very little, and so I don't feel disgusting after a workout.
Hair - Just some run of the mill shampoo.
Body - Just a soap bar
Duration - Try to keep it under 15 minutes (I have to pay for my own water bill, and showering I've noticed uses a lot of water.)
Temp - Warm/hot, my grandma always suggested to end with no heated water, it closes the pores. This actually does work, but being the pansy that I am, I just can't take it.
Facial - Nothing special, just some soap, but I need to start some acne control, blackheads everywhere.

I shave every couple of days, my genes don't really give me much scruff. I use lotion on my hands, they get dry sometimes.

I should probably kick my bathing habits up a few knotches...

Frequency: Daily shower, using a shower cap, washing my hair every 3rd day because it's a pain to dry/straighten. If I don't wash my hair for any longer, dandruff develops or it gets greasy.
Hair: L'Oreal anti-dandruff shamps, L'Oreal anti colour-fade conditioner/Tresemme moisture conditioner.
Body: Vanilla shower gel. Soap makes my skin dry and sticky.
Brush my teeth if I feel I need to.
Shave my legs if I feel I need to.
Duration: 15 minutes - 30 minutes
Temperature: Warm/Hot, cold when washing face.

frequency - once a day on weekdays (or every other day when I'm lazy/hungover in the morning) and maybe once (or not at all) during the weekend
hair - sometimes just water, sometimes just shampoo, sometimes just conditioner - I have really weird hair and I can never tell what it wants
body - some fruity body scrub and/or moisturizing body wash w/bath poof
duration - 10-30mins, depending on how awake I am (maybe longer on weekends if I decide to shave something)
temperature - warm, but definitely not too hot - my hair gets angry
facial stuff - usually just water, otherwise my skin gets really dry and irritated. I do use face wash (when I remember) but not in the shower
I do also take baths about once a month, but usually for the sole purpose of shaving and/or ... "releasing tension"

Sure, I'll bite:
Male
Hair - It's long, so some extra body shampoo, and conditioner only for the bottom half.
Body - Irish Spring with Aloe for that "I'm a clean bean" smell and skin smoothness. No rags or hoofen-floofers needed, just good old-fashioned nail scratching for deepdown cleans
Duration - 10min wash, 2-5 min fap
Temp - hot enough to feel uncomfortable, but not hurt
Facial - took acutane years ago, so no need for product. Just some soap.
Frequency - once every one/days, depending on activity. I have a naturally pleasant smell, so I don't have to worry about stench.
Beard - conditioner a couple times a week to keep it soft and shiny.

- 1/day weekdays, 2/saturday (my big work-out day)
- Pert Plus for dry hair
- Ivory soap with a scour pad
- 15mins in the shower, 30mins drying. Takes for fucking ever. And if I dry my calves, they get itchy. I need to air-dry my calves. NO fucking sense.
- Hot-hot the whole time. The cold after getting out makes the bed warmer.
- No facial stuff, beard's in the way.

I moisturize my forearms and calves. For some reason those parts of me are dry as fuck. I don't get it.

I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Male
Frequency - Every day, or on occasion, one day without
Hair - water on to wet hair, water off, dandruff shampoo, water on for the remainder
Body - Any soap bar
Duration - 4 minutes is the recommended time (due to drought - most houses were given a shower timer) but I never count the time where I shampoo my hair, so give or take a minute or two. [Note: Before drought kicked in, I took about 20-30 minutes]
Temperature - warm on most days, cold showers on hot days
Facial Stuff - blackhead cleanser, vigorous rubbing before showertime

18 year old male

Frequency - Once a day, soon after waking up
Hair - herbal essences shampoo, a big glob of it massaged roughly into scalp
Body - not much, just a general rubbing
Duration - However long it takes to massage the shampoo into my scalp until I can't feel the shampoo anymore (it's been mostly washed out). Usually ten minutes or so.
Temperature - Hot in the cold season, cold in the warm season.
Facial stuff - at the start of the shower I point my face into the spout and wash it, focusing on a specific area if there's been acne activity

Frequency --One shower every night.
Hair --Garnier Fructis Shampoo/conditioner,then some Sunsilk anti-frizz stuff
Body --no particular body wash,I change it frequently, apply with a scrubber.
Duration --20-30 minutes (too long,im trying to hurry up more)
Temperature --fairly hot, but not scalding (warm water doesnt last long in my shower unfortunatly,so the water is often cold when I finish)
Facial Stuff --some Olay facial cleanser before shampooing, and some Neutrogena anti-acne stuff at the end.

I also shave every time, because the hair on my body tends to grow fast.

25 - Female
Frequency: once per day unless air is really dry (have had the skin on my back crack in such conditions)
Hair: Redkin All-Soft shampoo and conditioner
Body: Dove with a bath poof thing + exfoliation every few days.
Duration: 10-20 mins (depends on shaving)
Temp: Warm
Facial: Anti-blackhead scrub

Directly after showering I like to use baby oil to lock in moisture and replace the natural skin oils that have been washed away.

Shave my arms in the summer because a) my hair is dark and b)makes it feel noticeably cooler.

20yr old male
Frequency - 1 shower a day (unless I somehow get very stinky/dirty) go 1 day without, usually on the day when I'm taking a break from the gym.
Hair - Wash 2 times with dove shampoo
Body - I used to wash 2 times but now one with Irish something bar soap with Loofah
Duration - Usually an hour or more

Facial Stuff - some skinlogics packet stuff

*26 year old male*
Frequency -- Prior to going outside or being being in the presence of non-family members
Hair -- Shampoo for dry or colour treated hair. It tends to bring out my natural blonde. I may or may not use conditioner. I slightly towel dry it just so it doesn't drip constantly and let it finish air drying.
Shave -- I shave my face in the shower using a single blade cheap disposable bic. Gilettes cut my face and the electrical I tried tore out as much hair as it cut.
Body -- Prefer Irish Spring but whatever.
Temperature -- Hot all the way on, cold barely - probably around 120 F. Hotter disolves more dirt and oils. If my body is hot from working out or summer heat I may rinse off with cold.
Facial Stuff -- nothing

Washing your hair every day is not good for it.

Frequency-daily
Hair-Head+Shoulders shampoo and conditioner
Body-Dove soap
Duration-10-15 mins
Temperature-Hot
Face-Cloths for scraping away dead skin and a cream reducing redness. Seems to be working.

*18 year old female*
Frequency -- Twice a day. One shower in the morning, and one short shower with a shower-cap after whenever I work out during the day/evening.
Hair -- Victoria's Secret So Sexy Shampoo and Conditioner and Sunsilk Hydra TLC leave-in conditioner
Body -- Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar shower gel
Duration -- First shower is long (20 to 30 minutes), second shower is short (5 to 10 minutes)
Temperature -- I like to take fairly hot showers, but I make myself turn the water to cool when I wash my conditioner out because I hear that it... does something? I forget why, but apparently rinsing with cold water is good for the hair haha.
Facial stuff -- Neutragena cleanser (I also have other facial stuffs like toner and lotions and shit, but that goes on after the shower, so I'm not sure if it's relevant)
I don't shave because I epilate my arms, underarms and legs once a week. I moisturize every morning and evening with Cetaphil.

when I was in my teens I used to not bathe for weeks unless I had to actually leave the house and socialize with other people. God, thinking back I feel like taking a shower now.

Hair: shampoo and conditioner, usually whatever stuff my girlfriend bought.
Body: Ivory sensitive skin body wash (no perfume) with one of those Japanese bath towels
Duration: about 10 minutes or so
Temperature: mostly hot
Face: I use some fancy facial lotion after shaving, keeps it from getting dry and is sunscreen. I don't wash my face specifically.

Personally I try never to shower in the morning because it takes valuable time away from sleeping.

22 Year old male

Frequency -- Whenever I feel dirty (sometimes 2-3 times a day, sometimes 2-3 times a week)
Hair -- wash every shower with anti dandruff shampoo
Body -- Cheapo irish springs bar soap (sometimes I use my roommate's body wash)
Duration -- As long as I feel, sometimes its 5 minutes, sometimes 50. I stay in until I feel like I'm done
Temperature -- Hot, always. Even in summer.
Facial stuff -- Nothing.

Only shave for special occasions - interviews, formal events, etc. Fuck you if you have a problem with my neckbeard and monobrow.

The only thing I **MUST** wash to consider my shower a success is my asshole/genital area and my feet. Everything else doesn't really matter.

Guy here, same for me basically (except for the shower cap, haha).

To the poster who asked, most of the people I know take morning showers as a matter of habit. It's like coffee.

I always think of killing myself in the shower. Not like an urge to do it, just picturing it happening. Something to do with the solitude and it being a common place for people to do it.

22, Female
Frequency -- usually once every other day, sometimes once daily, never go over every other day
Hair -- Biolage Normalizing Shampoo, making sure I get all my hair and the tips well, have pretty long hair
Body -- Dove body wash, though I'm thinking about switching to a bar soap.
Duration -- averages 15 minutes
Temperature -- nice and hot
Facial Stuff -- proactiv

24 male
Frequency -- 3-4 times a month
Hair -- dandruff stuff, or nothing, most stuff makes my hair frizzy and hard to manage.
Body -- liquid soap
Duration -- 45 mins to really scrub out the dirt
Temperature -- luke warm - hot
Facial Stuff -- Nothin. Wash my face and hands at least 3 times a day, staring at a screen makes it feel greasy after a few hours.

I don't do anything strenuous typically, but If I do then I throw in a random shower. I'm definatly not squeaky clean ever, but for the most part my bathroom disgusts me and I am loathe to clean myself in it.

I figured I would be an example on this end of the extreme since it seems everyone else that is posting are the type to shower every day. But I know that a lot of people are like me, for one reason or another.
