Short and sweet:
Can I gain muscle and lose fat if I do the following?
- Stronglifts 5x5
- Eating at BMR
- 1.5g per lb bodyweight of protein
- HIIT 3x a week on non-lifting days, first thing in the morning

Right now I'm average. I have an average amount of muscle mass and a little bit of a gut. I've been doing p90x and I've lost some fat and gained some muscle. I plan on switching to 5x5 once I finish up p90x. So /fit/....will this work?

if you finish p90x all the way through your in better shape then most who start 5X5.

OP here,
yeah Ab Ripper X is hardcore. I'm on week 9 and it still kills me. I've definitely seen great changes from p90x in terms of balance, endurance, fat loss, etc. I think 5x5 will help me in terms of muscle/strength, though.

you need adjustable dumbells (wal-mart) or bands
and a pull up bar (though you can use bands instead)
Other than that, no other equipment is necessary

keep going like this and you should gain muscle nd lose fat. U dnt need tht much protein though (if ur 160 pounds, 240 grams which is 1080 calories), nd tht much will kill your kidneys.

yes, i'm exactly the same as you except i keep cheating and eating donuts

my lifts are getting bigger, but my bodyweight is stagnant

means i'm not losing as much fat as i could be, but i am losing some and replacing it w/muscle

i do HIIT 3x a week ON lift days, though

also i only do 1g protein / lb bodyweight
