Hola /fit/

I'm a skinny guy who weighs about 145 and I'm looking to increase my upper body strength. My understanding is that I need to "bulk up" and develop a good workout routine, then turn that fat into muscle. How should I do this? The "bulking up"?

I'm poor as hell, so I figured I'll need to get protein in a cheap way, like beans, lentils. Is this right?

I know that you guys know much more about this than I do, so I come here. I'd rather do it right the first time, than waste my time doing it wrong.

Also how do you guys keep from getting bored out of your minds when exercising? I'm curious, is it music, a few beers, what do you do to fight it? Do you even have to?

I know its a lot of questions, but I'll be happy for any answers you can give. Thanks.

I did wait longer than 5 minutes, as you put it. I also have been out of school for a number of years. I'm probably older than you, but thats irrelevant. Your not being very helpful.

Fat doesn't turn into muscle.

I actually would appreciate any help /fit/ could give.
I'm the type that would contribute back to others here, if I knew what I was talking about. In the case of fitness, I don't.

In other words, to strength not weight gain programs.

If you want to do what you're doing, boredom wont be an issue. I highly doub you have the commitment to follow this through.

Give a man a fish and he is fed for a day, teach him how to fish and he is fed for life.

Telling you what to do is pointless, go do your research and come back with more specific questions, faggot.

I would like to increase my weight as well. I'm aware weight doesn't equal strength. Essentially, I wan't to increase my weight and increase my upper body strength.
Sorry for not being clear about it.

Where to begin? What to research? Where to look? What information is reliable? Trustworthy?

There are a million and one places to begin and all of them full of nonsense and "miracle cures", "fat burners" and other tripe. I'm looking for real information, hence why I came here, your board has actual experience on the matter. I'm looking to tap that experience in order to learn.

Oh wow. I meant 'You're'. Mistakes happen. HURRR I feel much better now.
Thank you grammar nazi, I don't know what I would do without you.

Still nobody can tell me where to begin. Not very helpful. I'm beginning to believe this place is full of closeted homosexuals, who are just looking for an excuse to look at pictures of half-clothed men.

I know not everybody here fits that generalization, but I suspect that most do.

Thank you. You are the only person here you actually helped me. The trolls are out in full force and its pretty hard to get some help with the low signal to noise ratio.

I'll return after I learn something and can contribute back. Thank you again.
