/fit/, need some advice.

So it's like this. Approximately 3 months ago, I had a kidney transplant. I was 5'8", 180 then. So yeah, a bit overweight. It's the way I've been for most of my life. Now, after this transplant, I had a few complications. They've kept me off my feet for most of that time, so now I'm 210, and I've lost a lot of muscle mass from just sitting around.

What I'm requesting is low impact ways I could get back into shape. When I say low impact, I mean enough for me to break a sweat and burn some fat, but nothing like... weight lifting. I'm on a 5 pound weight lifting restriction. Also, I can't do anything that is extremely rough, i.e. contact sports.

Any ideas? I really would like to lose this weight for good before I hit college in January, if possible.

Also, any good diet ideas would be wonderful. I've tried a few different things before with no success because of different restrictions on what I could and couldn't eat on dialysis. Pretty much anything that isn't loaded with potassium is fine now.

OP here.

Heh... slight problem with that one too. I was on dialysis for a year and half, so it's been almost 2 years since I've even been in a pool, let alone swimming. I doubt I can even float now. =/

Any other suggestions? I can give swimming a shot, but I doubt it's going to go well.

it's about as high intensity as you can get and still be low impact.

Pretty much the only risk of injury is in the shoulder, but that can be avoided by learning good technique and listening to your body. The only other risk is drowning i guess.

You could always just get into a pool and walk around the shallow end if you don't think you can manage to swim - it will be slightly harder to do than just walking on land.
