Behold: skinny-ass me. 6'3, 180 lbs.

Tell me what to do to fix this. I'd just like some definition. What do I do?

Sit ups and push ups? SQUATZ?

How many? How many times per week? I have no idea how to go about this, so /fit/, I ask your help.

All I have at my disposal are my body, two 10lb dumbbells, and about an hour at my school's gym.

I'm putting this out there as simply as I can: I want to look better, I want to feel better. Please, help me do it.

Use the recommended routine, then go to 7chan and find the sticky with the rs of Starting Strength and read it so you know how to do the lifts.

No problem. I'm just starting out too, been doing this program for 4 months. It's a good simple program for beginners and seems to be very effective.

Dude, easy peasy:

If you want to improve your upper body just make sure you go to the gym 3 times per week and do bench presses and any other random free weights.

The best lean vs. muscle you're going to get out of bench presses is using a 10-9-8-7-6-5 pyramid where you start with 10 reps using some weight and then move down the list continuously increasing the weights until you can barely do the 5 repetition. Do that 3 times per week and you'll see a miracle in 1 month (as in you will be about 30-40% stronger).

During your time at home do the following:

Pushups in the morning. Pushups 1 hour before going to sleep. Try and keep only 2 sets of however many you can do before you collapse.

For increasing speed (legs) just do squats. For squats try and use a weight where you can do 30 repetitions until you can't go on anymore and repeat that 3 times.

For ab work just throw in the "American Psycho" (from the movie) crunches where you bring your leg and upper body up at the same time. Do this whenever you can at home. Heck even if you don't it won't matter since the squats and the benching will already help keep your middle section together.

Keep a decent diet by getting 2 fruits in a day, but you seem to have your weight under control so just keep the exercise in mind.

BUUUUT

REMEMBER TO DO ALL OF THE ABOVE (i.e push ups, sit-ups, benches etc) UNTIL YOU CAN NOT ABSOLUTELY DO ANOTHER REPETITION.

If you are not hurting by the end you will not gain anything.

P.S After weigh-lifting eating some sort of fruit (banana) or just getting some natural (not that artificial crap) sugar in your bloodstream always helps

Good Luck.

Oh, if you can throw in swimming and or running 2-3 times a week as well you will just see an insane overall body improvement.

See, this sounds like what I need, but there's only one caveat: me and pushups don't get along.

Maybe I'm just really weak, but I took the old "Hey anon, how many pushups can you do before collapsing?" test and I got about.. 6?

Yes, I'm weak. Just putting that out there.

Hey OP, I was once there too with pushups...back in 9th grade when I was a skinny ass nerd that could only do like 10 pushups before dying. However then I went to military school and was forced to kill myself over and over again. So now many years later I have refused to let myself lose the strength that I gained (or my nice ass pecks) and do pushups regularly. I can do three sets of 70 in an hour. Don't underestimate yourself, pushups alone can work miracles if you have the discipline to do them enough.

You will get stronger as you do more. The number doesn't matter as long as your arms get a work out.

Dead wrong. You DO NOT need to do every set to failure, and you DO NOT need to be sore as hell to get great results.

Do as many as you can a few times a day. I used to be like you. Then I went into drumline where we had to do pushups every goddamn day for doing things wrong, doing things almost right, and doing things perfectly.

Just keep at it. You will see an explosion in the number you can do. I promise.

Wow, I think this is the first actual "help me" thread that's gotten a good response on 4chan.

Cue the flames? :D
