Hey /fit/ how are you?
I generally eat 1500 to 2000 calories a day, but I eat around 600-800 during the day, and then I'll get home, and my family will have a delicious meal and I'll eat 1200 calories in one sitting. I was wondering if this is bad for me. I know eating around 2000 calories total for the day is ok, but is it bad for me to eat the majority of my calories 2-3 hrs before I go to bed?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it's bad, very bad. O_o

When you go into a resting state, you're not really burning or using that many calories, so basically what does your body do? Takes all of the food you just ate and stores it away.

This is generally why most people either eat most of their calories in the morning, or spread it evenly throughout the day so it gets used.

OP here, sorry I forgot to mention, I lift weights for an hour, then run for 2.5 miles after work/before dinner every day. Don't know if that makes a difference or not, but it just makes me where I'm hungry when I get home and there's this delicious food there. Plus dinner is generally homecooked and fairly healthy (i.e. grilled meat, vegetables).

We've established that I shouldn't be eating so much before I go to sleep, but does anyone have a good solution? I don't really have an opportunity to eat more than about 800 calories during the day, because we don't have a "lunch break" at work, so I just have to eat what I can during any free time I have during the day.

I don't want to just eat 800 calories and then go home and not eat anything, then my calorie intake will be too low I think. I know I sound like a total dumbass, but in all seriousness, any suggestions? I don't want to get calories from chips or anythign unhealthy like that, I mostly eat fruit or something easy like that at work.

I don't eat like this on weekends when I'm not working.

I dont count callories at all. It is seems pointless to me. You should know if what you are putting in your body is good or bad...especially how it makes you feel.

I drink nothing but green tea that I make with distilled water.
Eat zero dairy.
steelcut oats/granola/raisin bran for breakfast.
PB&J for lunch.
Home cooked Chicken/turkey breast with veggies for dinner.
Beer/booze and cookies on the weekend (my cheat foods).

Supplement protein/animal Pak/animal Stak everyday.

lift 4 days a week, run on my off lifting days.

6'3" 195lbs...and I feel/look damn healthy.

Not counting your calories may work okay for you, but someone manipulating macronutrient ratios for maximum performance must count their calories. Saying it's pointless is stupid.

double up at lunch instead?
