hay guise; This is definitely going to be tl:dr, so I apologize in advance.

I'm 22, male, 5' 11", 160 lbs., and I'm looking for advice.

Over the last ten months, I've lost just over 40 lbs. (down from 200-210) due to diet and exercise, but I think I've recently hit a snag; since at least February, I feel like I've made no progress whatsoever even though I've been maintaining my habits pretty well.

What I'd like to do is tell you exactly what I eat / how I work out, then get some feedback on why I might not be getting anywhere at this point.

One thing to note is that, from what I've been told (and due to the fact that I'm generally hungry all the time), I might not be eating enough, but I haven't done much research on it, I've only kept it up because it worked quite well for a long time.

Diet:
- 8:30 AM: microwavable breakfast sandwich
- 10:00 AM: orange
- 12:00 PM: apple
- 3:00 PM: banana

You're only eating the equivalent of one meal (based on five meals per day) every day. Quit starving.

Thats enough food for a baby chimp, not a person.

Up your intake, mos def. Drop the microwaveable sandwich, there's nothing in there you want inside you. If you gotta have your fried pig and liquid chicken, make it yourself at night and nuke it in the morning.

You're not getting nearly enough protein. Hard boiled eggs are your friend.

You're reaching the point where you need to change up your routine; you've adapted to the stresses it imposes. Stew Smith and Ross Enamait both have free bodyweight training programs on their websites; they should give you a nice beating. I posted a running program on here a few days back, if you'd like a different running routine.

I'm totally down for dropping the morning-ly Jimmy Dean sandwich.

One problem is that I don't know how to operate a stove (like I literally can't boil water), so just about everything I eat is either fruit or microwaved.

On that note: is there something I could buy that requires little maintenance that would be good to eat 3-4 times per day? I don't mind monotony when it comes to food; if something existed that I could eat six of per day and have that be healthy/adequate, I'd totally do it.

Is there another ab exercise that's better than bicycle crunches? I really like the resistance and feeling I get from pushups; it'd be awesome if there was some abdomen-based equivalent.

I'm actually relatively happy with my running routine, but I'll definitely look those guys up when I get a chance.

Thanks a lot, Billy.

if you want the ultimate weight loss food, buy yourself some oatmeal. oatmeal contains lots of complex carbs and fiber, which will make you feel fuller longer. moreover, since you cant cook very well oatmeal can be microwaved for 1 minute with water.

Oatmeal, huh? If I recall, it's cheap and doesn't taste awful... would I use this to replace my current breakfast, and would I eat it multiple times a day?

>>43529
I don't mind doing that at all if necessary.

I think your body looks hot. :[

If you did all of the above, I'm pretty sure you can learn how to operate a stove. They pretty much operate themselves these days.

Oatmeal is awesome for breakfast. The complex slow digesting carb will help keep you fuller longer than that breakfast sandwich. You can get a huge bag at costco or something for relatively cheap, but make sure you stay away from the "instant" sugar added kind.
Also it's not a bad idea to have some fruit or eggs to accompany your oats in the morning if you so choose.
Having a 12 hour block in the middle of the day that includes only fruit really isn't the best idea. Sure it's great for loosing weight fast. But realize that you have also lost muscle, and you wont be able to gain any effectively with the type of diet that you have now.

I don't mind at all. I should probably go look up healthy cookable meals while I'm at it... also, a friend of mine gave me a rice cooker before he moved out of town, and I bet it could be pretty useful.

I live in LA and shop at Costco all the time (hence breakfast sandwiches). I'm not necessarily interested in gaining muscle, but I realize that it's not very healthy to lose it, either...

Definitely not eating enough food. Trick is to eat lots, but eat healthy.

As for the gut, you need to change up those exercises. Do something that uses more of core muscles like swimming or martial arts.

I desperately wanted to take up some form of martial arts or other physical hobby (I used to do fencing when I was younger, but I was kinda' overweight then too), but it's extremely difficult because I work and go to school full-time.

I might be able to hang out at a soccer field for an hour between work and class, but that's kinda' it.

you could always switch up workout routines to refresh your muscles with something different instead of the same old same old.
