I used to play DDR about an hour a day a few years ago and lost about fifty pounds (in b4 fatass). The best thing you can do is get a foam pad from Red Octane. They really save your feet.
When you get tired of DDR, track down a copy of Pump It Up!. You can get it for $20 new, it's got songs besides techno, and it uses a five-button layout. The game is harder from the start, but it's a lot more fun, with varied jumps, steps, and walkarounds. Once I started playing that, I left DDR behind.
