My BMR is 1630 calories per day. Using this website and setting it at sedentary, it says I need 2121 calories a day to maintain my weight.

I'm a vacation for a month and probably 80 percent of these days, I won't be doing jack squat but sitting using my computer all day. That's why I placed it on sedentary. I do run 4 miles about 4 times a week though. It's recommended that I have a 500 calorie deficit to lose weight, but that would bring me down to my BMR calorie amount on the days that I don't do shit. That calorie intake seems too low. I'm confused.

that thing says i need 3790 calories per day...
thats stupid

Your BMR as a rule of thumb is body weight in lb x 10. Then you add in the Harris Benedict formulae i.e. activity level to find your maintenance level.

I read somewhere it was body weight x 16.

well considering mine (170 x 10 = 1,700) i don't think x10 is accurate considering the 'average' daily cals is supposed to be what, 2000? i don't get it. x16 sounds more accurate

You're not sedentary.

Somebody's overestimating their activity or underestimating their daily intake.

You sound like me. I do 45-50 minutes of cardio five times a week, but do jack shit the rest of the day, except if I go out shopping or to the mall or something. Get your BMR from this site:

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

and then multiply that number by 1.375. I would have thought it would be 1.55, but someone on the /fit/ irc channel told me to do 1.375 since I don't do anything else.
