/fit/ tell me the truth, if i use a smith machine to do squatz and bench, am i really failing THAT much? my gym has an olympic bar, but no squat rack so the only REAL compound lift i can do is dead lifts...pic related, unfortunately smith machine SQUATZ
>>320297if you're gonna do smith machine squatz, atleast do em over head
>>320307overhead squats are dumb.everyone knows that if you want muscle growth you have to do isolation.
Dead lifts, bent over rows, Cleans, clean and jerks, Over head squatz, Snatches, Shrugs, Clean to front Squatz. Should I continue? Or would you like to come up with some more lame excuses?
>>320307fuck that sounds almost impossible and painful if something goes wrong.
>>320314Everyone knows that if you want muscle growth all you have to do is curlz.
>>320316i bet you're the type of person who tries to get large biceps from doing pullups or rowsyou dont know what you're talking about
>>320318true,just do it right and nothing will go wrong.Might as well make the best of what you got.>>320316also,odds are you cant clean or press as much as some people squat, what do you think racks are for?everything else you listed is not a replacement for squatz, except dead lifts to an extent.
SMITH CURLS. FUCK YEAHno actually they do it at my gym. Fucking hilarious
its better than nothing. tell your gym to get a squat rack!also military press...thats a compound movement
Build your own squat rack in the gym. Just move a couple machines over, and boom you're all set
Somtimes the rack on the bench can be moved up high enough for you to get underneath, and you can move the bench to decline so you can squat past parallelthats what i had to do until my gym got their new squat rack
>>320318They're not that bad.
overhead squats are easy to bail out, just keep you arms locked and you will have no problem. unless you have no arms then you will have a problem.by far the most dangerous exercise is the snatch i think, i've smashed myself in the face once because i didn't get under the bar fast enough. shitty times
jus do dumbell squats
>>321052True. If anything goes wrong, just guide the weight to a fall to the back of you or to the front. Especially if you do this outside, it's easy as fuck.
I have the same problem as OP. I do dumbell squats and pistols. Fuckin Smith machine.Btw you can't do overhead squatz in one of those unless you are bilbo baggins.
>>321087Never try to guide it behind you, you're far more likely to tear your shoulder to shit.
