Hey, /fit/. I bike around like a motherfucker, but I've been thinking about trying to tone up a bit. I suppose I might be what would be considered "slightly" overweight (21% body fat), but that's not really my motivation.Among the things available at the local store are some smaller weights and one of these suckers... some kind of exercise ball. Are they worth it? Do they do anything other than make you feel retarded? If they're worth it, anyone have experience/exercises to share?
Just to clarify, by "one of these suckers", I didn't mean "a skinny girl with ribs that look like tits", I meant the ball.
tl;dr: balls good, balls bad?
Balls largely worthless for anything other than building balance. If toning is your goal, fix your diet, lift weights like a motherfucker (heavy weights, not 8 sets of 500 reps of 10% of your max), and do HIIT.
i use a ball as my computer chair, works well for me and my habits of never sitting still.
No gyms/heavy weights around here and my apartment's too small to keep them, too. Been doing old-school stuff like pushups and situps, though I was thinking that something else to make it harder might help a bit.
>>318015The ball might help you prolong your bodyweight exercises a little longer, but you'll outgrow it pretty fast. You'd probably get more benefit from a burlap sack full of sand that you can do squats and deadlifts with, as well as putting on your back during pushups and grabbing with your legs during chin ups.
