Most of these people are dumbshits. If you want to get toned, the last thing you should be asking about is weight resistance training. Diet should be about 65% of your concern, Cardio 25%, and Weight training about 10%. You're a bit overweight, around 165 should be your target, so those first two things should be really important to you. Don't do situps, curls are much, much better. Abs start working the lower back, and involve muscles unrelated to the abdominal wall.
