Why am I losing weight at weird intervals, /fit/? For about a week, I sort of stuck at around 168-172. Then, starting on Thursday, I've gone from 170 down to 164 and right now, 165ish. The hell?

It's your body trying to reach a balance. You'll lose a bunch of weight, then level out, lose weight, level out. It's natural.

Hmm, sounds annoying. Oh well, it's at least progress.

I don't think your body cares how much it weighs. Weight is a goddamn number, a fact a lot of people on this board don't realize. You can gain and lose 5 pounds of water very easily. Food and stool also play a factor, but not as much. Because of this, you should weigh yourself at the same time of the day. Additionally, you should only weigh yourself once a week. Once a day is borderline obsessive compulsive.

If you are that hung up about your fucking weight, get a tanita scale that does body composition (including water %). Those scales are much more accurate than whatever you're using at home, I'm sure.

Don't listen to him. Weight yourself several times a day at regular intervals to understand how you body weight shifts. Weight yourself before and after taking a dump. Before and after exercise. It's interesting.

I do, actually. The numbers can be confusing though, like when you take a shit and it feels like a lot, but was only like .3 lb.

Well... I weighed myself after dinner, and I was 165.5 then. So...

Yeah I found taking a shit doesn't do all that much.

female here, that shift is usually due to water weight gain & how much food you eat. I usually bloat up to two or three pounds a day from the food/drink I intake.

I know OP isn't female, but random fact: some girls gain 10lbs of water weight before their periods start. At least you don't have it that bad.

I was trying to ween this kid off of weighing himself every 5 minutes, and you actively encourage it. Why not tell him that bulimia is a perfectly healthy enterprise? Any more wisdom that anon wants to share?

OP, you weight will vary throughout the day, mostly because of water. Ignore it. Unless you are in weight-classed competitions, which I doubt.

OP here. This has happened before. Also, I am eating a little less than what I should be, and doing a light jog for 60 min a day on my treadmill (don't want to screw up knees). underageb& too. But I'm going to a nutritionist Monday (I had another topic for this) to see what I should do about my eating.

i was taking my weight daily when i lost a bunch of weight (60lbs in 3 months), there were days i'd drop 3-6 pounds over night (usually after i drank a lot) and it stayed off. i made a graph of it in excel, it was there one day and then gone for good. i took my weight every day to keep me from staying at the gym too long and killing myself, as long as i saw progress on the scale i didn't need to kill myself trying to see or feel progress.
