Some more vegan body builders.

True. I think most people into fitness know this stuff. I'm posting these more as an example to people who think all vegetarians / vegans are skinny fucks.

Yes, it's possible to be a vegan bodybuilder, as these pics illustrate.

But not everyone can do it. To be a vegan bodybuilder, do you have any idea how many goddamn carbs you have to eat to get adequate protein? Only people with fast metabolisms and a natural aptitude to gain muscle (a rare combination) could ever hope to achieve it.

Hi guise! I'm really surprised to see this thread on there. I'm actually vegan and a body builder. Want to ask me questions?

If you don't, then fuck off.

Why did you choose to go vegan? Also, post a pic to prove that you're actually a body builder.

Man, more power to the vegans.

I ain't got the time nor the inclination.

I don't understand why people would think that vegans could not be body builders? Are they complete idiots?

I don't want to post a face pic for obvious reasons.

I'm 6'2'' and 215 pounds--a LOT of my weight is in my legs from having been really fat at one time.

I can bench 225 for 6 reps and can squat 225 for 10 reps.

I went vegetarian about 4 years ago because of a manipulative girlfriend. After I left the cunt I actually found that I liked being vegetarian. I eventually vegan because it seemed like I was only slightly embracing the reasons I was staying veg: health and ethics.

It seemed like vegetarian was only doing things halfway--for me, anyway. So, I went completely vegan a year ago.

I've been weight lifting for 5-6 years, and I haven't seen vegetarianism or veganism harm my performance or my energy level.

If there's one downside to being a vegan bodybuilder--and I only speak from my own perspective--it's that it seems like my stomach is a bottomless pit. I eat a lot of good foods, but it seems like my mealtimes are more frequent than they were when I was veg. Meat, dairy, and eggs are pretty heavy foods and your body digests through tofu, beans, nuts, pasta, peanut butter, and tempeh a lot faster.

Shit man, you look scary even from behind. Like that guy from X-Files, or Steve Carrell in 40 Year Old VIrgin.

Anyway, good for you for sticking with it, I guess. I'm a life-long vegetarian myself and I could never see myself going vegan. I get the ethics thing, but how is vegan more healthy than vegetarian (excluding possible lactose-intolerance and all that)?
>> Anonymous
>>323445
you've been lifting for 5-6 years, you weigh 215 pounds and only squat 225 10 times and bench 225 6 times?
that's kinda low..

Steriods

I bet most of those guys built up their mass first and then went vegan (yay supplements) but it is possible. You'll never be as good as you would be on an omnivorous diet though.

I'm your height, I weigh over >40 lbs less then you and I out benched you on my 4rd month(weak upper body, was a soccer player) of lifting / out squatted you within my first month. You should feel ashamed about that, these are not the results you should have from 5 years of training. With that amount of training you should be capable of bench pressing ~300-450lbs and squating for over 550 lbs.
