/fit/, I'm moving to a new apartment about 2 hours away after Thanksgiving. I've already set up my gym membership there. It takes 1 - 1.5 miles to walk to the gym one way, and I'd run for 45 mins or so at the gym, then walk back. Is this win?

>It takes 1 - 1.5 miles
ummmmmmm.

>then walk back
why don't you run there and back. saves time, get a better workout.

But wouldn't I tire myself on the way there and back, disabling myself from getting a good workout at the gym once I arrived?

Running 1-1.5 miles isn't really what I'd be calling a "workout." Running there and back would be good supplementation to a better workout.

running outside of the gym is exactly the same as running inside the gym. The gym is not a magical place in which your calorie usage doubles when you step onto the machine.

no, not win. it wouldn't be win if ran there either, or drove. because i don't give a fuck about how you get to the gym. or that your new gym is 2 hours away from where you live now and that you'll be moving after thanksgiving.

all i care about is prefontaine

why do you have to go to a gym to run?

Because I live next to Canada and the Great Lakes and in the winter, it's cold. Very cold.

This is win. Doing cardio before you work out gets your blood flowing, allowing you to get better results.

its like taking the stairs instead of the escalator
makes perfect sense to me

i drive to a gym that is hell of close to my house due to laziness

why do you run at the gym at all? why pay to run inside when its more enjoyable to run outside with fresh air and more interesting surroundings?

i cycle or run to the gym and then use the gym solely for weights, i dont see why i should pay to use a treadmill.
