/fa/ rate my meals and answer a question for me.

Question first. I absolutely hate vegetables, I just can't bring myself to eat them. Will I be ok without them, or can I still lose weight without veggies?

Ok, rate me meals please?

Breakfast: Oatmeal or cereal.
Snack: Lean meat sandwich and a piece of beef jerky
Lunch: Rice and dried pork
Snack: Banana, another sandwich (Mon/Wed only: rice, egg, and half a sausage link)
Dinner: Tofu and miso soup (Mon/Wed only: finish snack)

Obviously I don't pig out on these meals, they're rather small actually.

You like tofu but you can't stand veggies?

wtf is wrong with you?

You can still lose weight without eating your veggies, but you're missing out on a lot of vitamins and minerals your body needs from vegetables.

No, I don't like tofu, but I don't know what else to put in my soup...>.>

Uh...we're /fit/ here. Anyway, you need more, or in this case some, veggies and fruits for a variety of reasons. One of which is your results will likely suffer somewhat from a lack of them.

Also, though I can't be sure since you neglected to mention weight/age/gender, this looks extremely too low in calories. Especially if you plan on doing exercise which I suggest.

For a lot of people a diet like this will accomplish the following:
1. Slow metabolism
2. Give shoddy results, likely including some muscle loss
3. Frustrate
4. Cause them to end up in a worse place than they were prior to going on said diet after they end up abandoning it and binging.

tl;dr looks like a crash diet to me

Sorry fit, I check both boards and I mix them up sometimes.

If this looks like a crash diet, what should I fix? I don't have a job right now so I can't buy all the healthy food I need. In my fridge I have stuff like chinese sausages, frozen hot pockets, eggs. And else where spam, chips, cookies and junk. Everything in my house isn't very healthy.

Not so much what you're eating as the portions. You've already split your meals into 5 separate sittings which is good, but you lack vegetables, and you've already stated you're eating small portions.

Small portions for me on a quick estimate means you can't be taking more than 1100 calories in a day or so, and thats being generous. If you're someone who is active, which again I suggest doing if you're trying to lose fat, that kind of intake is going to stunt your results. Also, I'm nit-picky when it comes to breakfast. I generally like a fruit for quick energy and a protein to fuel my body first thing in the morning.

What is OP's weight/age/gender?

I neglected to ask your height, so I went ahead and calculated your bmr at 5'7" for 1800. Theoretically to lose a pound a week while being completely sedentary you could eat around 1300 cals per day.

Adjust accordingly for the inclusion of your exercise program.

BMR? Well, you were close 5'6. So, I should eat more? Should I increase my portions? Or add more stuff in the mix?

BMR - Basal Metabolic Rate, though its more often used interchangeably with RMR. Resting meta...yeah.

Anyway, its just a measure of how many calories you burn per day simply breathing and pumping blood. 1800 calories per day is how many you'd burn if you were in a coma.

Find a vegetable you can handle, and make it a real one, and try to throw in 3 servings of it per day. You will get used to eating it, and in time will even crave it. Corn, Potatoes, Yams, Peas, Carrots aren't real vegetables in that they actually have some caloric value. Tomatoes and Iceberg lettuce also aren't the best as they are mostly water.

Aside from that I say just generally increase your portions slightly. You shouldn't ever be ravenously hungry during the day, if you are you're doing something wrong.

If you're even just lightly active during the week (say 5 times a week you take a 30 min walk at a moderate pace) you're going to want to hit no less than 1500 calories per day in my opinion. The usual 40/40/20 prot/carb/fat ratio is something to shoot for as well.

What's a real vegetable then? You took out all the ones I could handle.
