Are there any disadvantages to jogging/walking on a treadmill?

You don't get to see the pretty outdoors. : )

Use at least a 4% incline to achieve the same resistance as running on a flat surface. A treadmill does most of the work if it's flat.

Why don't you run you fucking pussy? Are you too afraid that you might actually have to do work and get tired for once in your life? Unless you have some terminal disease you have no excuse.

This is absolutely right. Also, make sure you don't let your hips tighten up over time. For some reason the treadmill makes my hip flexors clamp down.

This is also relevant to my interests. I usually run on a treadmill because I'm already at the gym and I just do it at the end of my workout. I don't want to run to the gym because it would take too long. Are there any disadvantages to running on a treadmill? Should I raise the incline like someone else said???

Thanks /fit/

I want to start running on a treadmill too. I was running outside for a while but about a week after i started i began developing pretty painful shin splintz. With softer impact of a treadmill, am I right in thinking I'll be shin splint free when using one?
