I just tried running again since a 4 month break, and after about 20 minutes I started getting this really bad pain all down my windpipe, some kind of burning.

I figured it had to do with the lovely cold weather, but I had to stop since it was getting really bad.

Anybody have any tips to minimize this discomfort, or should I just soldier through it and it'll eventually go?

Tips plz as I WANNA TONE.

Run through it. You should have never stopped running in the first place.

I'm on the varsity team for my university... running all year round, and if I take a week off from training, and then come back, the first few practices are always a nightmare when it's the winter.
To minimize discomfort, dress even warmer, perhaps moreso than you usually do. That will help you adapt to the cooler weather. If you get too hot during the run you can always lose a layer.
After a few days you should be OK

Also, a 4 month break is huge... so that will also hurt you. Just keep at it!

Once you start feeling like that, slow down to a lower pace until the feeling passes. It should pass within a mile or two.

I don't think that is good advice.

Wear a scarf over your mouth. Chances are you are trying to gulp down loads of air, which is damn cold at this time of day, and its damaging the back of your throat. Also, breathe in through the nose.
