/fit/, I have an issue. I've never posted here, but this seems to warrant my visiting.

So uh, to put it simply, my back hurts alot.
it started about 4 days ago. I woke up one morning with an extreme pain in my lower back, and all the way down my left leg. It felt as if I was stretching, trying to touch my toes, ya know? well, it was severely painful, but I managed to sleep through it. When I woke up again, the pain was mostly gone, but my back still hurt throughout the day and hindered most normal activities a little. Thing is, every night I go to sleep it's the same thing. About an hour after I go to sleep, it kicks up again and is the worst pain I've ever felt.

I feel like maybe I pinched a nerve or something, maybe from cracking my back like I do.

So that's it, I guess. Any suggestions?
Do I visit a chiropractor or something?
This really is the worst pain I've ever felt.

pic unrelated, no matter how much I wish it were.

Sounds like a Hernia : one of your spine nerve is pinched between two intervertebral discs. It's relatively common and very painful. Go see a doctor it won't just go away by itself.

first of all my dear chap, it seems to me (and i'm by no means a qualified doctor) that you have a slipped disc.

Now by all means go an see a doctor, however there are a few simple things you can do to aleviate the pain.

Go buy yourself a heat pack and leave it on the sauce of pain for 30 mins at a time, also try sleeping on your back tonight without a pillow (if you are no used to this try substituting your pillows for a folded blanket). The plan here is to keep your posture as straight as possible, this can help by reducing the pressure on the back.

Hope this helps you crazy joe!

These two anons seem to be on the right track. However the term slipped disc is a misnomer (even doctors and people in the medical line make this mistake too). A "slipped disc" entails a herniation of the nucleus pulposes out of the annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc.

tl;dr lets learn to be awesomer than ordinary anons and let them know that using "slipped disc" is wrong! It's a hernia!

sounds exactly like what i had. i thought it was sciatica, but it turned out to be a muscular problem in my left leg. i could have sworn it was in my back, but i have come to realise that i was wrong. lay on your bed and roll your foot from side to side, and then get soomeone to lift the leg. if either of these hurt its sciatica else i would say its just a muscular pain like mine. my doctor told me to take ibuprofen for 3 weeks, and it fixed it.

I appreciate the help everyone. I knew anon would be a pretty cool guy..
but memes aside, I really do appreciate the help.

Unfortunately, I have no insurance coverage so I'm not sure if I can actually go see a doctor, but if it keeps up for any longer I sure as shoot will.
