'ning, /fit/.
Kinda embarrassing asking this considering how long I've been lifting, but what the hell. I have a massive patch with no muscle at all between my pecs, over my sternum. What lifts, especially what types/grips of bench press should I be doing to build muscle there?
Pic not related.

I have the exact same problem. It makes my chest look kind of stupid.

No really, I think dumbell flies would work.

flies, wide dumbell press, wide grip benchpress

More than likely, nothing! Sorry but anatomy never lies and from what you have described, it has to do with the attachment point of the pectoralis major tho the sternum on the lateral more aspect verse the midline. It's your biology not you technique thats failing you.
To gain the appearence of larger chest muscles do more upp back work to stregthen an area plagued by weakness in most ameteur lifters. This will pull the shoulders back and naturally arch the chest out. You'll look bigger and will gain strength in the chest by restoring the normal contaction relaxation lengths of the pecs.

Exactly right.

And OP, I have this problem too, most do. I think its genetic. Some have a bigger patch than others too.

I think doing more upper back work is a good idea. I read somewhere that the lack of growth of the chest is sometimes due to the back being too weak to support it, so no muscle is gained.

I like this. The chest one that's linked to at the end is also good.

It's your genes. Don't worry about it so much. Work with what you've got and don't try to pattern your body after an ideal that's not who you are. Be the best you that you can be.
