I've tried the protein shakes, I've tried the lifting, etc, etc. I have a metabolism like a MOTHERFUCKER. I DO NOT gain weight unless I work out HARD and eat HARD. Working out HARDER THAN SHIT for 5 lbs gets fucking boring FAST.

What do you think about boxing? I like the idea of having cardio mixed in w/ resistance training. Plus it's fun, plus it should increase my appetite big time. I'm a 6'3" male weighing in at a whole 155 lbs. I plan on lifting 1-2 times per week on top of the boxing... I just don't want to do lifting by itself.

What do you do that's fun and helps you build muscle/ gain mass?

protein shakes alone don't cause you to gain weight, unless you add more shit in it.

you simple don't eat much

You probably aren't keeping your caloric intake high enough. I know when you're eating a lot, it seems like you should be demolishing that barrier, but you'd be surprised.

I, too, have a freakishly high spider-monkey metabolism, and ensuring I take in OVER 2,000 calories and 150 grams of protein every day, I'm seeing results in filling out my skinny frame along with my weight regiment.

In short, TRY HARDER. EAT MORE, COUNT YOUR CALORIES. LOW REPS HIGH WEIGHTS. SQUUAAATZZZZ AAAAAGH

I eat.

My entire family is thin... it's in my genes. For example, my mother has only gained 5 lbs since high school (5'7" and 120 lbs) and is 52.

All I want to know is what thin people do to gain mass, and how they better enjoy their workout BESIDES determination alone (a little enjoyment besides the reward of a fit body is a GOOD thing).

How often are you working out, and what are you doing? Also, how are you taking in protein? Shakes? Chicken? Semen (lol)?

This is OP again. I want to mention that I have about 5% body fat. Getting anymore than that is a serious battle.

>>How often are you working out
I work nights, and my workdays are kind of weird, so whenever I can. Usually 4 to 5 days a week, sometimes one day after the other, sometimes spread out.
>>and what are you doing?
I don't have set routines or stick to the exact same exercises every workout. But I do use only free weights (try to stay away from machines if I can help it, but my workplace's weight room doesn't have a bench, so I can only use a bar at home or my gym) with high weight (as high as I can go without sacrificing good form..that's counter-productive..) and try to stay away from cardio. The only thing I can say I have set in stone per week is that I try to raise what I lift by 3-5 pounds.

>>Also, how are you taking in protein?

http://www.netnutri.com/browse.cfm/4,1456.html
Usually 3 times per day. Sometimes 2, if I don't have time or simply space it out. 510 calories and 46 grams of protein per serving. Mixed with milk instead of water, and that goes up a bit.

Also, yes, chicken is a great source of protein. Easier to prepare, and cheaper, though, is tuna. Mix up a can with some mayonnaise and you've got a high-protein and calorie snack right there, bruddah.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard the tuna thing before... do you actually do that?

How long did it take for you to get results? How much weight have you gained?
>> Amuro !nA4kpJCkfU
>>I've heard the tuna thing before... do you actually do

Yeah! Go to a Costco or something and buy it in bulk. Even if you can't find it in huge million-packs, it's still pretty darn cheap by the single can. Just be sure to use some mayo when you're mixing it up; otherwise it's dry. You can get tired of it easily if it's all you eat, so be careful. It'd be a shame to get that sick of it, since it's one of those things that's really beneficial on this kind of diet.

>>How long did it take for you to get results?
To be honest, I'm not a veteran. I'm still in my rookie stages, as I've only been messing with weight lifting for about 4 months.

>>How much weight have you gained?
I've only gone from 135 lbs to 145 lbs...Pretty puny compared to a lot of lifter's gains, but I've always been so incredibly skinny, and a really hard gainer..So i'm really happy so far, and can't weight to see what I can bang out.

Consistency is key..Try not to miss training days, meals, or your supplements. Oh, also, I take BSN's Cellmass creatine alongside my protein.

Thanks again. It sucks being a hard-gainer, but I guess when were oldfags it's a good deal

Yeah..When I picked up my first container of Up Your Mass at my local Vitamin World, the guys at the counter were like "Oh man, that stuff's awesome. Be careful though, you're gonna come back crying to us asking us to teach you how to lose weight!" and I was like "Hahaha, no."

How many calories do you eat in a day?

Ah man, I have no idea. I've never counted.

You should. Your problem could be you're not eating enough. Having a naturally high metabolism and then lifting hard on top of it means you need a lot. Hell, I'm 5'10'' 148 lbs and I DONT have a naturally high metabolism but I eat around 3000 calories a day just cause I'm so active, and my body stays the same.

I'll give it a try. How much should I be taking in?
I don't plan on working out for the next few weeks until I finish school.
>> Moonmauler !!LgNbdvCFAuN

Well you can't really gain a lot of muscle just eating a lot. You need to lift otherwise the weight you're gonna gain will be mostly fat. If you want to gain fat, then pig out.

As for how much you need, if you aren't gaining weight than you obviously need more. Eat normal for 3 days and count your calories. Take the average, and then just add 400 or so. That should be a good start. If that doesn't work, add a little more and observe results. Repeat.

Like 2,000. Assuming you're male.
