OP, I'm not trolling you when I say this...you're too weak to be using weights because you lack joint strength. Common mistake with beginners. Put the weights down, and do body weight exercises until you are sufficiently strong enough for the weights (like, in a month at least)--the range of motion is much more natural and will greatly strengthen your joints and muscles, and you will find you don't have this cracking problem anymore. You are over-taxing your *joint*.
