Okay you guys I have some questions, I want to gain weight, but I am in college with no money and I live in Hawaii (Milk is 10 bucks a gallon)

I go to the university gym 2 times a week and work out for 30-45 mins (Don't want to burn all my calories) and do high weights with low reps (Is that correct?)

I am 6'5'' (very very tall) and I weigh 175 pounds (Very skinny for a guy my height) I am half black/half white for those wondering.

Any tips? What cheap things can I buy that are healthy? here is usually what I can eat in a day:

Breakfast: bowl of cherrios, 2 bananas, protein shake (gotta get out the door pretty fast)

Snack: 2 cans of tuna + crackers with a shake

Lunch: big sandwich/calzone from Italian restaurant across the street which can't be healthy. eat this with apple/orange juice or milk

Dinner: Pasta usually with a shake also

1. find a resident(s)
2. make friends with said resident(s) & ask for his/her/their caf card
3. go into caf and start munching down (repeat this step multiple times)

Not sure what you mean by that, but a person only has a set number of meals in a semester here at UH. So like 200 meals or something, and if I take one...he will have 199.

Or do you mean steal it? lol...thats dick to do

Should I get the "old fashion" kind or like Skippy?

I have a body type like yours. Protein by itself does not a weight gainer 2000 make. You need to eat a healthy low-simple carb diet and weight train with good cardio, and let your focus be upon gaining muscle mass. You will never burn all your calories, because after you work out you're going to eat some fruit or nuts or cheese to resupplement your energy. Study weight training guides in which you go from body weights (joint strength foundation) to free weights (muscular strength) and you will gain muscle, and moreover, have better confidence in your bodily appearance.

All natural peanut butter is pretty good, skippy is more like sugar in a Can. If food is really freaking expensive obviously protein shakes might be a better replacement. Getting a Casein product will be a good addition to your whey. If you handle carbs well then making up some calories with Bagels works great, they are cheap and huge and delicious. Also One meal a day of fast food might be a good idea ifyou really want to add calories. Some of the Bigger burgers at wendeys are pushing 800 calories for like...2 bucks. and thats some solid protein as well. Ifyou arnt prone to gaining lots of fat using fast food can be a valuable and money saving idea.

well the school i used to attend ppl used to have guest passes depending on the plan. i didn't take advantage of any friends but a lot of the times they'd invite me to eat. its not really "stealing" if they're your friends...

not the guy you were quoting but i think walking is better for guys trying to gain weight. It gets the blood flowing and is good for recovery if you do like 20-30 minutes a day and won't beat up your joints.

I agree in regards to joints, but either is great if you have the joint strength. I'm a swimmer myself OP (bad knees from too much running in high school). I probably gained about 30 pounds of muscle just from swimming/doing body weight exercises (shit load of push-ups/sit-ups and too many others to list) over the last year or so.

How often should I do cardio?

How long do you think it will be before I see results? (educated guess)

rob GNC or Vitamin world

Look up starting strength or westside for skinny bastards, both have different and effective ideas about how to start working out. 3x a week is a good goal for weight training.

Swimmer here again. I do 1 hours of swimming my ass of 5-6 days a week (replace with bike/run/walk). I alternate days for weight lifting...one day upper, the next lower, 5-6 days a week.

how much of a calorie surplus is good for some light muscle gain?
>> Anonymous
This thread is decent, and extremely relevant to my interests, because I'm OP, but in Australia and half white/half asian. Right down to the desire to gain weight, height / weight stats (roughly) and meager workout schedule. Thank you, /fit/.

OP, I've taken to gorging myself on peanut butter whenever I can sub it into a meal. Another tip is go read the articles on stronglifts, even if you don't plan on following that workout routine. There's plenty on nutrition and the simple guidelines for the "HOW DO I BECAME BIGGER / HOW DO I FAT LESS" questions, regarding calorie intake, exercise and whatnot.
