Hi /fit/, I am also asking for advice from you experienced, sexy people. I'm 5'9", 135 lbs, skinny as hell but not cut/muscled at all. I want to get muscle mass/definition, basically get bigger and more cut so I look and feel better. I don't have to end up like a bodybuilder, but I just want to look decent (gonna be honest, this is entirely so I can actually have a chance to pick up chicks). I have top-of-the-line gym membership (I work at the gym) and I definitely have the drive, and I love feeling sore after lifting and things of that nature, so I'm willing to practically kill myself to get this done. I'm 21 (senior in college), and didn't lift at all in high school,
but I stay in relatively decent shape because I walk everywhere, usually ends up being 2+ miles per day just going to class and work.

What kinds of exercises should I be doing to build some bulk while also reducing body fat? Also, I'm kind of a picky eater (don't eat most fruits or veggies or any seafood) so some diets don't apply to me (and I can't cook for shit, if I can't microwave it, I don't know how to make it). I currently do machines for most stuff, because the free weight room at the gym is too intimidating for me. Thank you, in return, T&A.

no T&A, people who are going to help don't need pron we can get anywhere.
few things:
look into west side for skinny bastards.

However often you eat, eat twice as often 2-3 times as much, drink milk, make sure there's plenty of dead animal and whole energy sources, not refined bullshit.

if you follow west side for skinny bastards (google it)
Eat a fuckton (200g+ protein, 2.5k+ calories)

you'll get alot bigger and stronger than you realised you could.

Once you're filling your tshirts and you FEEL big, keep going a bit longer, focus on getting your lifts up, THEN once your tshirts are splitting at the seams under your bulging muscular mass, it's time to cut down to get the abs and definition most dudes want.

Once it's time for that, you'll be well versed enough where you need to be, to know where and how to start.

Thank you, kind anon. One question - I won't lose quickness/agility while bulking up (to a certain point) right? I would rather be less bulky and more agile than vice versa.
>> Anonymous
You might lose a bit, but as a whole, you wont lose as much as you'd expect.

And once you cut back down, you'll feel light as a feather.

Don't overestimate quickness, is there any specific reason\purpose for yours? might help in choosing some measures to stop sport specific loss of speed.

No particular reason, I'm just used to being quicker as opposed to being bigger/slower so I don't want to be a lumbering beast. I'm looking into martial arts (particularly kendo) as a hobby in the future, and I figure I'd be better off being more on the quick side of the spectrum than the big and slow yet strong side.

You'll never be slow and lumbering, I was just more thinking parkour\breakdancing type sports might have trouble with a diminished power:weight ratio.

Martials arts, no problem, especially if you veer from kendo to grappling, you'll dominate.

Two more questions, forgive my ignorance because I'm a complete fitness noob. I dunno if you're the same Anon as>>67444, but what exactly does "whole energy sources" mean? Also, I generally eat two meals/day with snacks in between because I sleep through breakfast (wake up, get ready and immediately go to class/work). Would I start eating breakfast and just increase how much I eat for lunch/dinner?
>> Anonymous
>>67464
Yeah, so far it's just you and me... baby ;)

hehehe

Breakfast:
500 grams cottage cheese.

It wont take 2 minutes to put down, it'll have (depending on brand) 40-75g of protein, it's a bit bland, but you need breakfast, frankly.

And still eat more at lunch\dinner\snacks, just gorge, day in day out.

and by whole energy sources I mean from the ground\nature.

Eat:
potates
rice
fruit
vegies
wholemeal bread, seeds = even better

Not like:
Donuts
White bread
Cake

etc etc

the less it's been modified, the better.

My primary sources of carbs atm are:
Rice, alot of rice
Wholemeal bread, some rye (depending on that's going on it)
small amount of pasta.

see anything in a packet there? ;)

That's right up my alley, I eat wheat bread and I gorge on rice and potatoes, and I fucking love pasta. I'm a lot more optimistic after reading that, thanks Anon. Is cottage cheese far and away the best option for breakfast?

It's what works for me, you'll find your own thing.

I just dig cottage cheese, I enjoy the flavour, I can put away half akilo in the time it takes a normal person to reach over, whack their alarm clock, get up and put pants on.

It also means I can fit in tf2 before school, which is nice.

parkour is a form of art not a sport, jesus, i am so sick and tired of people thinking parkour is a sport. do you see ANY parkour contests?
>> Anonymous
>>67451
No.

Think about it. If your legs can lift two hundred kilograms and your body weights, say, forty, fifty, then you'll be a whole lot quicker then if your legs couldn't lift half that. That extra mass is muscle, it does work, it's not just extra weight.

Yes, because it doesn't take certain athletic abilities?

Parkour is meant to be a means to an end, not a way of expressing the lack of cuddles from the father or whatever.

Tell me, does Parkour require endurance? strength? Flexiblity? Agility?

they're all athletic traits, it's a sport, get off your high-horse.

so suddenly art is about not getting enough cuddles?
true that it is a means to an end but its sole basis is efficiency, using the least amount of energy for the highest amount of performance.

parkour has no RULES or winners and losers.

Whoa, sorry. i was wrong according to wikipedia, parkour has both SPORT and ART in it. sorry for attacking you over this.

Ha ha, lol
wikipedia has conttridictory articles in it between sport and parkour with parkour stating in its non-rivalry section that it will remain a form of are untill there is competition and sport saying it is a sport, lol
