hi /fit/- I'm kinda new to this whole fitness thing. I recently started exercising, and my metabolism has dropped. I've been eating less and less the more I get fit. is this normal, or should I worry?

well, isn't it good to, yknow, eat when you're hungry?

You should be eating more and more, unless your goal is fat loss, in which case you still shouldn't starve yourself.

Exercising raises your metabolism. Eating more food raises your metabolism. Eating less food lowers it.

well, damn. do you know of a way to get your body to send more hunger signals? it would be hard to get used to purposely reminding myself to eat.

It's kind of hard for me to answer this question, as I've had a ravenous appetite my entire life. But I guess you could try and find healthy foods that you think are delicious, and stick to those.

bleh, maybe I'll just stop eating and be like those mummified buddhist monks.

I'm the same way. I have to remind myself to eat. It's weird. I got really bad sick the day after Christmas last year and after that my appetite was pretty much gone for good.

I just made a plan to eat a small meal every 3-4 hours. Also I divide my meals into some of those Ziploc containers, making it easier to prepare a meal and giving one less excuse not to.

I eat more the more fit I am.

you around 20 to 24?
For me, same thing happened. metabolism slowed down. s'what happens when you get older. eat less. sleep less. care about life a little less.

it depends.
if you're in rather good shape and your meals are clean balanced and well though out and in proper proportions then it is(think moving a meal up half an hour early)

but if you're just gorging and overeating it's not.
