9 months about, I think.
>> Anonymous
nice, iv only been training for around a year and just started tricking, its amazing how unknown the whole scene is, its good though but odd looks can sometimes be annoying
>> Norw
>>19194shit could be more unknown for all I care. Where are you located?
>> Anonymous
i love watching videos of freerunning, but i'm probably not fit enough + i'd have no idea how to start

Look up local community, read shitloads, both about the discipline and fitness in general. Bring physical condition to par as fast as you can. Think before you do anything.

A Parkour training video. Don't know how well these exercises would really work, but the crawling pushups don't do too much for me.

There's probably an online forum for your state or largest city, sign-up there and go to a jam. By the nature of parkour traceurs are helpful in getting others started.

It also helps if you have a background in sports, martial arms or gymnastics, or have a good bit of upper body strength especially lats.

Don't really like that one, nothing but respect to Obsidian and the NPK guys though. Personally I would say a good weight regime for legs, maybe even C&J and snatches for explosive power. Climb up drills and all that shit to get upper body sorted.

NPKs vids are really decent yeah, the lisses trip was really good, this is what i wanted to start with this, like a place for traceurs to discuss different issues and such. Im from scotland btw cos i think someone asked before.

PK oldfag here

prove it, give me internet trivia that only a pk oldfag would know

Well the point at which Sebastien Foucan and Urban Freeflow declared a difference between the terms parkour and freerunning was a shocking turn of events which put me off the fags forever. David Belle is the only one I consider anyone worth any praise from not being a complete sell-out to the true name of Parkour

random info bout pk/fr
UF corrupted the parkour scene but at the same time brought it too many of us, belle doesnt claim that flips arnt parkour, he says that they are commonly used for aestetic values but efficient flowing flips can be done and because they keep forward momentum (FF) can sometimes be more fluid and quicker. Seb foucan admits he didnt co-found parkour, EZ from UF doesnt train anymore and handles the money, hes an ex conman.

(p.s. this was just under 3 years ago)

I've been training for about 3 months or so. I'm already is peak physical condition so don't give me any "You're not good enough yet".

I ask you fellow traceurs, how do you perform horizontal wall-runs?

I go at it from a 35 degree angle and use my weaker foot first (right foot) (the one closer to the wall) then proceed. I can only get 2 steps. How about you?
>> Norw
halfway fail for not going with the classical: "Real traceurs spend their time training, not on the internet" but I will accept it.
>> Anonymous
>>19221

Get some Ariake. They make you wallrun like spiderman
>> Norw
>>19221why would you want more than two steps? two steps gets you as high as you are going to go, focus on getting more out of those steps instead.
>> parkour/free running? Anonymous
real traceurs spen their time training or finding new techniques tbh, i used to but now my vision has widend ALOT and i create new movements.
btw 3 months isnt peak, conditioning should be done constantly to strengthen your body further for aslong as you train
>> Anonymous
ariakes arnt that good, the adidas protos are alot better, i was speaking to kerbie about them and hes told me the grip is amazing. if you want the best grip get 5/10s, they have stealth rubber

>>19229

I understand but Parkour isn't the only physically demanding "activity" shall we say.

And I know I wouldn't want more than two steps, but so what? It's all a bit of fun and excersize.
>> Anonymous
tbh parkour is incredibly physically demanding, im all for "horizontal wall runs" with more than one step, its like double kongs. At first i thought they were just for showing off till i got them ok, i can do four step horizontal, two vertical, four is pointless though, twos all you need
>> Anonymous
>>19229

Good for you (honestly), I think the biggest travesty in the sport today is that NO-one seems to pay any notice of the whole creativity point. It isn't a sport like skateboarding where you should drill out the same tired techniques over and over. Concocting specific movements to conquer different obstacles is the most important part of parkour as far as I'm concerned.

>>19233

Well they're a mixed blessing, they fail HARD in wet conditions, but when it's dry, their grip is unsurpassed. Specific shoes for a specific job I guess
>> Anonymous
for shoes i just use any adidas trainers, the kind i love are c.c cyclones, REALLY good shoes, nice and light but they arnt too durable tbh, ic had three pairs of them
