I'm looking to buy some weights because I'm looking out of shape arm-wise.
I found some York weights for £20 but do you think these will do me or are they too light (no muscle on my arm whatsoever).
"7 weight levels from 5 to 15kg and 8 x 1.25kg discs."
Is that heavy or what? A max of 7 and a half on each dumbbell?

tl:dr is 7 and a half kilos heavy, and whats an equivelant of that weight.

7 1/2 is probably the equiv of several books

best to get adjustable dumbbells, on ebay you can get them from some sellers, i use olympic weights and dumbbells, they have a bigger hole and bar compared to standard weights...
i take it your looking in argos? lol

Isn't 7KG relatively light?

7½kg isn't a lot, get enough for 20 on each

maybe the cheapest but isnt necessarily better! if you want decent stuff you might have to pay more.
althought if was looking for a decent set of weights (olympic ones) + a barbell for proper training then argos do this...

I'd say start with something like in your op which is cheap and won't be a hole in the pocket if you give up, or if you decide to carry on save a bit more and possibly get a rack of them.

find a bar somewhere and do chin/pullups
also do pushups

just some shitty curls for da gurls with a wimpy weight wont do

think about progression though, you might get past the desired amount of weights you got then your stuffed, ive started weight training properly about 2 weeks ago, and on each arm i have 5kgx2, 1.25kgx2 + 5kg dumbbell on already and doing proper tech, yes i do sports regulary, but still its been good progression

do 3x8 try to pick up the weight and see how it feels for you. if you can lift it 20 times then it's too light if you can barely lift it like 4 times then it's too heavy, you gotta be able to lift it 8-12 times.

this
curling 7kg wont give you big and strong arms
but chinups will give you lots of strength (and probably size)
pushups probably wont do that much since the load isn't big enough, but they are still better than nothing
