Hey /fit/. Wondering if this was a decent weekly split:
Mon - Bi/Tri/Ab-HIIT
Tue- Legs (including SQUATZ) - HIIT
Wed-Shoulders/Abs-HIIT
Thu - Back - HIIT
Fri - Chest/Abs - HIIT
Sat- HIIT
Sun - Rest

it fails hard.
combine synergists
chest+tris
legs+abs
back+bis
shoulders+traps

I was wondering about switching..but on a day like chest/tri...won't tri's get a lesser workout since they supplement compound exercises like chest? It seems like it would be more beneficial to work chest and tri's on different days (or back and bi's) to effectively push either muscle on any given work-out day.

what you just said

it makes no sense

tl:dr:
Won't my tris be to tired after doing solid bench? Or bi's be too tired after doing good rows?

yeah, benching works your triceps, that's why you do them on the same day.

last i checked that was the whole point wasn't it?

The reason you do a 5 day split is so you can fry the fuck out of each muscle group and give them a whole week to recover.

Yea but it seems like I could get more strength gains doing isolated tricep exercises on their own day and then again 4 days later with chest.

But like I said...I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking. If i'm totally wrong, then I can re-arrange my week.

Yeah, but you wont, because if your doinitrite your muscles won't be able to recover enough.

The point of a 5day split isn't strength, it's max hypertrophy. The Pump+a lot of rest.

That makes sense.

So what's a good mon-sat split?

Way too much mixture of weight training and cardio, you need to push yours muscles as hard as you can on weight training days, and work up your cardio massively on the off days. If you mix the two together, you're going to sap your energy completely and not be able to push yourself. your workout should be more like.
Monday: Weights
Tuesday: Weights
Wednesday: HIIT
Thursday: Weights
Friday: Weights
Saturday: HIIT
Sunday: HIIT

Gotcha...My gym is closed sundays...so would two days of HIIT do me any good if I'm trying to cut?
>> Anonymous
you better sleep 10-12 hours a night cause otherwise you aren't gonna recover
