I got some coupons for mcdonalds today. I know I know...most of it is shit anyways, but I was wondering how bad fish and chicken is at most fast food places.

Former employee of Burger King and Wendy's here.

With fish, you're never going to get anything healthy. It comes breaded and frozen and we always fry it. You might have a shot with Long John Silver's baked fish, though.

For chicken, it's frozen chicken that is either breaded or skinless. The skinless will be your only option to save on calories and fat. It's pre-cooked, mind you. At BK, we had certain numbers of them thawed and pre-grilled, so if an order came up we took the grilled chicken fillet out of the little warming drawers and nuked it for 10 seconds then put it on a bun. Wendy's was the same, but we didn't have flame grills like BK.

I will say that the BK chicken is actually a real cut of chicken. Shit you get from McDonald's, Wendy's and Arby's is usually one of those spongy looking processed patties.

As long as you get the grilled chicken sandwiches with no mayo, it's fairly good for you. No idea about the actual ingredients in that stuff, though, probably a lot of preservatives and shit.

If you gave those coupons to homeless people they would spit on you.

Most fast food places now have a two tiered chicken system, one being a fake patty and one being real chicken (in the case of mcdonald's it's the premium chicken sandwiches which are real pieces of chicken, and there's a grilled version.)

What I can say about the premium chicken sandwiches from mcdonald's is, it has a massive number of calories even if you get the grilled kind. Oddly enough most seem to come from the buns they put it on, rather than the meat or even the mayo.

I worked at an A&W for a little over a year trying to lessen the burden of my college expenses. But they chicken they use is real chicken, and i find to be a lot better than kfc.

BKfag here again. One other thing is that we have a veggie burger on the menu in recent years. It's Morningstar Farms brand, so it's the same kind of veggie burger you get in the grocery stores.

It's not bad at all, so if aren't above eating meatless every now and then, the veggie burger (skip the mayo and cheese, obviously) is a really good option if you're worried about avoiding the fat and grease of typical fast food. The upside to the veggie patty is that it's all soy and vegetables, it does not cook up AT ALL, so you get a decent, whole four ounces of patty instead the shrunken shit you get with a beef burger. I used to eat them on lunch break a lot with lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatoes and ketchup and mustard.

A McD's grilled chicken with no mayo has 370 calories. Not exactly "massive" and worlds healthier than a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder. But, you're right, the bun has 240 calories alone, the patty is only 120 calories.

I wouldn't recommend anyone live off this shit. Not because it's so awful for you, but just cause these premium type chicken sandwiches run almost five bucks JUST FOR THE FUCKING SANDWICH ALONE. The other reason is that you can get a big bag of skinless chicken tenderloins for like 10 bucks in the store and make this shit yourself at home on lower calorie bread. These grilled sandwiches are fine if you're on the go and have no time to sit and eat, though. Just enjoy overpaying for very simplistic shit.
