Weight Training Anonymous
I recently started my lifting routine again for summer.
The last time I stopped was due to what I think is tendinitis. I was not able to extend my arms the full length and when I would try to it was very painful.
Yet again after a few days of lifting I have the same problem.
Is this tendinitis? Or just muscle stiffness from the work out?
What can I do to reduce the cause of this?

At what time do you experience pain? What does sort of sensation is it?

Usually when I wake up it's the worst. But even right now it hurts to open my arms the whole way.
It's not excrusiating but it still hurts pretty bad. Even when I'm walking my arms don't hang the same way.
I've put BioFreeze on them and I've been trying to stretch them as much as possible, rubbing the muscle as I do so.
That make the pain less, but it seems that if I'm not constantly doing it they tighten right back up.

Dude. Your muscles are sore. That's what working out does.

That's what I was thinking, I just wasn't sure.
People were telling me it's tendinitis and blah blah blah.
I just wanted to see what you guys had to say.
Thanks for the input.

Read up on DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), and then in turn on tendonitis. See which of the set symptoms you fit.

Thanks a lot.
I read up on the DOMS thing and that's what it seems to be.
I'll just take my workout easy tonight and ice them this evening.
Thanks guys.

Stretch before and after you work out, it'll reduce soreness quite a bit.

What he said. STRETCH. Stretch before lifting, stretch each body part after exercising it, and stretch again after you're done. It'll do wonders for your range of motion and recovery times, too.
If this doesn't help, you may have a more severe problem, and should go and see a doctor. Good luck.

DOMS is my bet...

Very normal when your body is not accustomed to working out regularly, dont worry and just keep up the training.
Just remember to keep 2 days (minimum) rest between work-outs

In addition to stretching, after workout nutrition is good for battling DOMS. Essentially, you have a magic window of 30 mins to a hour after exercise to better absorb in protein and carbohydrates.

Thanks for all the advice guys.
I took it very slow today and only did half of my usual.
And I stretched quite a bit.
Afterwards I iced both my arms, they feel a little better, but still sore. I think I'll just use tomorrow as a rest day and heal up.
Again, thanks for everything.

Go to a doc and ask? Or not possible?
