Hey /fit/

So, I'm a vegetarian, and am recovering from anorexia. I'm 6'1", and I went from 109 lbs to 130. I don't want to get bulky [I like being skinny due to being a scenefag], yet I have some pretty decent definition. I'm still working on my abs, however. I have some pretty decent abs, but they're barely visible.

My diet varies, but the main thing I wanted to ask is about the protein/fruit smoothies I make at night. I throw some ice and frozen strawberries and other fruits such as bananas, or nectarines, or mango (it varies) into a blender along with...

-1 cup of calorie countdown milk (8g protein, 45 calories, 0 fat calories)
-1/3 cup of Fage 0% Greek Yogurt (40 calories, 0 fat calories, 5g protein)
- Lite Tofu (30 calories, 0 fat calories, 5g protein)
- One Tbsp of Powdered Coffee Creamer (25 calories, 0 from fat, 0g protein)

Is any of this really helping my six pack? Or is it just making it worse? I alternate on days I work my abs. I do light weights, but a lot of reps to get a more toned look rather than a bulky look.

Also, will doing too much cardio ruin my chances of getting the slim, defined six pack? I do about an hour and a half of cardio a day.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

The funny thing is even from being anorexic you are still too dumb to go learn the basics of your body. Enjoy looking like an auschwitz prisoner.

This was oh so helpful.
Instead of being a fucking prick, offer some actual advice.

Pic related.

>I don't want to get bulky

Don't worry about that. Seriously don't. Muscle doesn't appear over night.

>I do light weights, but a lot of reps to get a more toned look rather than a bulky look.

Fuck that noise. Lift heavy with fewer reps. At 130lbs you have a fucking long way to go until you appear bulky.

In conclusion: You have about 50-70 pounds to gain until you even start approaching bulkiness from afar, so don't worry about that. You're not skinny, you're emaciated, and you probably have a fair amount of fat even though you don't look like it. If you can't afford/be bothered with a gym or buying a weight set of your own, start looking into body weight exercises.

You say you have abs, yet they're not visible which means you are fat. (relapse incoming). The fact is ab's are generally made in the kitchen i.e. it comes down to body fat %. I dont know, you didnt post pics but it wouldnt be surprising if your body ate away at whatever muscle you had.

I'm sure you have heard this already but when you starve your body, it will eat up muscle to conserve energy because muscle requires energy to maintain whereas fat requires less and is stored easier, then eventually organs are chewed up. When you start feeding your body again it will grab onto everything it can and store it as fat to survive as long as it can.

I'm genuinely interested, how did you become anorexic?

I do have a gym membership, and I exercise all parts of my body. So it's possible I might have more body fat than it appears, huh? I was wondering about that, I thought it just might be loose skin from losing weight so quickly.

Thanks for the tip on the weights. I'll start doing less reps with more weight now. So many people offer so much different advice. :/

Well, it's not like the abs are totally invisible. You can see some slight definition there, but they're not exactly as defined as I would like them to be.

I eat three square meals a day, I just burn too many calories in cardio. I burn about 1500 or more everyday on the elliptical at the gym.

It started off as just losing some weight, and then I became addicted to it and getting thinner and thinner until I was 109. It's mostly from self-esteem issues from my past, but then it just became addicting.

Or spend an hour or two each night fidning out how your body works. I don't know/talk to any personal trainers but i've seen quite a few people here complaining they talk utter bollocks. Not all of them are like that obviously though.

Well I'm new to this forum, so I don't really know any sites on where I can get info on stuff like that. Any good sites?

Probably the best book to read when beginning out, Venuto covers pretty much everything you need to know until you have more advanced problems.

Read this FAQ too:

It's a lot more compressed than reading a whole book and still imparts a lot of important knowledge.

And stop doing cardio all together for now if you intend to gain weight. If you must do cardio, then start running. The elliptical doesn't make you better in anything except in using the elliptical. If you start running you can actually use the skills you develop.
