/fit/ I've been working out for about a week and a half, eating a lot better, and cutting out soda and processed foods as much as I possibly can. I bike for about an hour every day, and have been keeping my heart beating at around 150bpm for the time. I've maintained my weight at around 220. When am I going to start shedding weight?

Pfft, wasting ya time.

Yeah, I used to, ya know, give a crap about my body. Then I realized, ya just gonna get stabbed.

>"I've been... cutting out soda and processed foods [[[[as much as I possibly can]]]]."

Cut it all out, period.
>> Anonymous
You can't just cut out sida and processed foods and expect to lose weight.

3000 calories of processed food will add just as much weight as 3000 calories of healthy food.
>> Anonymous
cut out fast food/soda/refined sugars until you can't remember the last time you had them, then you are beginning a good diet
>> Anonymous

Can someone please explain to me why diet soda is bad for you?
>> Anonymous
>>319656
Then what makes healthy food so great?
>> Anonymous
>>319658
It isn't..
>> Anonymous
>>319661
then why cut it out completely
>> Anonymous
>>319661
Is regular soda even really "bad" for you if you can compensate for the extra calories with extra activity?
>> Anonymous
>>319656
Tell me something, how far is your head up your ass and do you have colon cancer?
>> Anonymous
>>319659

He's full of crap.

Also, you have to eat a lot more healthy foods than processed to achieve 3000 calories.
>> Anonymous
>>319664
No it's just fucking bad.

Shitload of carbs
Shitload of sugar
Shitload of caffeine

FOR A FUCKING CAN OF SODA?

Think about it.

I essentially have. I hadn't remembered the last time I had a soda up until I had some on my birthday, and the only time I'll have it is when going out with people where I don't have too much of a choice what's ordered. But yeah, I have stopped eating that stuff when I'm making the orders.

I'm not that guy, but what he said is true.

WAKE UP FIT

CALORIES > MAINTENANCE CALORIES = WEIGHT GAIN
CALORIES < MAINTENANCE CALORIES = WEIGHT LOSS

THEN WHY EAT HEALTH FOOD WHEN WE COULD BE BUYING TV DINNERS?
>> Anonymous
>>319669

Water is always cheap as free

There will never be a place you go to with people that has soda and no water

I've managed to restrict my fluid intake to tea, water and vodka

Try calorie counting and see how the nutrients add up. You'll be surprised. If you eat 1000 calories of nothing but candy/soda everyday for a year, you'll lose weight.
>> Anonymous
Soda and processed foods are fine.

It doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you're using up more calories than you take in.

A few people on this thread seem to have been brainwashed into believing a tonne of feathers weighs less than a tonne of lead.

Op here, going to go out on a limb with this one. Disgusting amounts of saturated fats to line our arteries?

Is it true that a glass of vodka a day boosts your metabolism?
>> Anonymous
Pretty much you just need to worry about eating healthy/unhealthy if you're looking to gain muscle. Unhealthy stuff is going to add more unnecessary strain on your lean muscle throughout the day and make it more prone to catabolism. Healthy stuff minimizes that.
>> Anonymous
>>319676
Ah, I meant the processed foods, but the soda is definitely easier to cut out. I agree.
>> Anonymous
>>319677
You'll also die from a variety of nutrient deficiencies but hey, you'll be damn slim.
>> Anonymous
>>319672
uhhh... someone has never read / compared nutritional information of different types of food
>> Anonymous
Oh, I also forgot to say, I stopped smoking.
>> Anonymous
>>319668
Same guy- It tastes good. It's my vice, except I thought unlike smoking, I could actually work the negatives off, which so far has been true.

I guess I don't see why it's worth quitting if you can just do more later in the day.

how long have you been doing this? only a week and a half? if so you cant expect instant progress, its all about the long term

cut out the junk like sweets, chocolate, soda, crisps etc. and eat more veg, maybe have days where you eat less calories than the normal intake (i found soups help) and you should see some difference, even if it is 1-2 pounds a week

keep at it though

hur hur crisps

Soy Crisps are fucking delicious. Screw you.

Wait, so how much should I realistically expect to lose? Because if it's 1-2 pounds a week, I am at 219, and before in the week I had been at 220ish. Also, what should I be looking for in a scale, I just want a nice accurate one.
>> Anonymous
Couple of years ago when I was losing weight I lost 1-2 pounds a week on Weightwatchers. Its a pretty good diet, kinda fun counting the points and stuff. Went from 14.5 stone to 11.5 stone. I'm at 12.5 now, but its not fat.
>> Anonymous
>>319702

realistically anything between 1-3 pounds a week is good, you've said you were 220ish and now you're 219 after a week which is ok - a loss is a loss.
as long as you keep up the healthy eating and exercise then you'll be at an ideal weight in no time.

also what scale do you mean? weight loss scale? height/weight chart?
>> Anonymous
On your first week of dieting you should be looking at a 4+ pound weight loss. After that it will be 2 or less.
>> Anonymous
God wills you to be fat.

>>319725
Just a weight scale. Measure how much I weigh.
>> Anonymous !ErY2TknG0w
Cut your intake or increase activity until you get desired loss. It isn't rocket science.
