Hey /fit/

I'm 6'1'' and I weigh 225 lbs. So, I'm a little overweight. I actually used to weigh around 250 lbs, and I started going to the gym and lost some weight, but despite the weight I've lost, I know I'm just fucking around at the gym.

What kind of a program would you recommend for someone trying to lose weight? My ideal weight would be somewhere between 175-190 lbs. I know that you guys seem to really love squats, but how many sets and how many reps should I do? I also hear a lot of people say bad things about the machines. Should I only stick with free weight? How much cardio should I be doing? What kind of a diet would be ideal? What kind of foods should I start eating and what should I cut out (other than the obvious sodas and junk food and such)?

Basically, what do I need to do, straight up, no bullshit, if I want to lose weight.

Pic related because I don't want to end up with diabeetus.

I'm not trolling, I'm really just ignorant about the proper way to work out. If I knew what the hell I was doing, then I probably wouldn't be fat.

Don't lift if you're trying to lose weight. Trying to lose weight while bulking up is redundant. Lose the weight first, then lift.

A little lifting is fine, just to keep yourself toned, but don't try to bulk up.

Look up HIIT, do compound exercises. This would include: Squats, deadlifts, bench press, and bent over barbell rows. Make lifting days and cardio days separate, make sure you have rest days. Eat foods that are good for you, fuck. Whole wheats, oats, natural peanut butter, turkey, chicken, eggs, nuts, fish, veggies and fruits.
