/fit/, how do you make oatmeal? Do you put fruit in it before you put it in microwave, or after?
>> Anonymous
i blend it raw into a shake
>> Weed and Exercise
It doesnt matter. Seriously. But I like to mash up a banana into my oatmeal after its warm because the heat helps break it down.

i put some salt and cinnamon in before putting it into microwave... eat fruit seperate (used to put banana in there before heating... it was alright I suppose).
>> Anonymous
after for bananas or blueberrys

before for raisens

it depends on if you want the fruit to soften or not. i always put it in before cooking, but it's purely preference. cinnamon and things like that should go in before cooking, so it is absorbed into the oats. i like to use pumpkin pie spice, but not too much cuz it's fairly expensive

every morning:

plastic bowl

1 cup Quaker oats
1 3.4 cups water

cover, microwave for 2:30

remove from microwave, slice a banana up into it (I actually pull the banana apart because each cylindrical piece can be split up into three portions)

mix -> eat; delicious

Boil water
Pour oats in bowl
Pour water on oats and wait until soft
Add milk, chopped banana, raisins, almonds/dried fruits and nuts, fresh fruits and cinnamon. Also yogurt.

EAT!

My oatmeal gets me about 9g protein at around 210 calories. I then eat a wholegrain english muffin with fat free creme cheese. Is about 20g protein total good enough?

Oatmeal is a protein source.

I have question do you get the same nutritional value of oatmeal if you eat it uncooked?
Another what is the difference between rolled and unrolled besides the obvious?
>> Anonymous
1. Pour Oatmeal into cup
2. Sprinkle on Cinnamon
3. Consume

The easiest way to get no added sugar, no extra crap oatmeal is to buy the lowfat quick-cook Quaker oatmeal.
Women take 1/2 cup, men take 1 cup, add double your amount of boiling water into a bowl and cover with a plate for 5 mins.
It's like cooking ramen noodles. Add whey powder for protein if you want to build muscle; or frozen or fresh fruit (1/4 cup) for fat loss.
