Hey, /fit/, I'm coming along decently enough in my progress, except in weight loss. It seems I've (at least mostly) stopped losing fat. I'm considering taking a weight loss pill.

Suggestions?

(long story between ======='s)
=====================
Most of what I see on the market seems to be either marketed for women, or there's not much information on it besides its own site. And, of course, everything says it's the best, and lists why the others suck.

So far, I've improved my diet about as much as I can afford to. I burn a bit over 200 calories a day, four days a week, in cardio. I'm starting to add a fifth day every week, for twice the time (~400 calories).

I have seen results over time, but I'm still not satisfied. I have that tire around the middle, which won't go away, also other pesky pockets of lard elsewhere. I don't necessarily want to be *lean* (six-pack and such), but I've never been thinner than i currently am -- and that was after a period of very poor nutrition.

So ... what does /fit/ recommend, if anything?

Figure out for sure how much you're eating vs your daily calorie requirements. It might be that your body is in starvation mode from eating too little. Try to eat your maintenance calorie level for a couple weeks, then drop the cals gradually until you're at a 300 cal deficit. Keep up the cardio, and drop the deficit further (no lower than a 500 cal deficit).

You want to aim to lose about 1lb a week - that's a realistic target which can be achieved consistently. Any more and you risk entering starvation mode which will fuck up your metabolism.

Use a calorie counter tool such as www.epic-nom.com. Also has useful shit like a meal planning tool.

Thanks much.

I guess I should add that I'm also (at least mostly convinced that) I've inherited the fat gene. It's not like I'm obese or anything. But ... just about everyone on my mother's side has excess body fat -- even the athletes and Marines.
