Okay /fit/,

This is me after five months of working out and changing the way I eat. I say changing because it's not a diet, I don't plan on changing back.

I completely stopped drinking soda (used to drink a 12 pack every 2 days), and eating fast food (used to eat McDonalds every night on the way home from work). I started watching what I eat and eating lean meats and high fiber whole grain/wheat.

I started going to the gym and working out fairly hard, at least for me.

I now run 3 miles and life weights m/w/f and then run 9 miles Saturday.

Over the five months I've been doing this, I've only lose 25lbs.

What's the deal? :(

Any medications causing the weight gain or causing your metabolism to slow down? Also..vary your workouts..swimming, running, weights..keep your body and muscles guessing..props for trying so hard

No medication at all. I take a one-a-day multi-vitamin in the morning, but that's all.

To get leaner quicker cut out all grains, eat meat and veggies for every meal. Take fish oil 3 times daily, preferably a good brand 3-5 capsules at a time. Cut out continuous running, it doesn't lose weight as well as interval exercises. Try doing dumbell squat thrusts as quickly as you can for 20 seconds, rest 10 then repeat the cycle 8 times. That style of cardio will lose you weight.

if you do too much cardio and don't have the proper nutrients in your body, it will actually start eating your muscles and the protein in it to keep going....thus negating your other workouts.

really think about what you are eating and don't be an excuse-fag. Think about the cream you put in your coffee, the dressing you are putting on your salad, or the loads of mayonnaise you are putting on your sandwich. Shit that might seem insignificant like toppings or dressings can be brutal to your progress. Learn to enjoy things without cheeses/dressings. Don't nibble on shit throughout the day either.

weight =/= fat

if you're lifting weights you're gaining muscle no matter what, muscles weighs more than fat

if you're losing fat and gaining muscle you're obviously not gonna lose any weight

you can normally only lose about 1 lb of fat per week. unless you go on an atkins no-carb diet for 2-4 weeks. your muscle gains make you heavier, not lighter, FYI. So you probably lost 35 lbs and gained back 10.

I hope that's the case, I am currently 24% body fat, according to a little electric tester thing which makes me obese. :(
