Do you keep getting stronger as you get older? I mean, into your 30's and 40's?

I arm wrestled with some relatives the other day. One was 30, the other was 47. Both of them led relatively sedentary lifestyles. I've done strength training for two years.

Both of them were able to beat me. Why is that? I know arm wrestling isn't the best gauge of strength, but I'm 20 and in my prime. Both of my relatives are a little bit taller and heavier than me, but does that really make a difference?

If you are a regular weightlifter and maintain a healthy lifestyle, you'll get stronger into your 30's and 40's. Muscle takes a long time to grow but it adds up over the years.

The reason you lost could be:
-Your strength training regimen sucks
-You had poor technique
-Bigger people are stronger, generally speaking.

Next time challenge them to a squat competition. The average American can barely get down to a squat
