Fit I have a problem. So here it is. I am an Army ROTCfag.

I have from today/tomorrow till August 15th to get my ass in shape. I weigh 265, I'm 6'4", I can barely do 10 pushups, 10 sit ups, and my best time with 2 miles is 19:50. My training equipment composes of myself, two twenty pound dumbells, and a pair of running shoes.

Inb4trolling and omgnevahappenin

Give me hope.

Go run right now. Run as long as you can then walk. Eat right, do light lifting targeting what you need to. But I doubt it'll happen. What are your goals? Talk to your recruiter if you're joining, he can help you get in shape.

Whoa. You can do it. It will be incremental, and will require periods of pain.

I'm in ROTC. Not JROTC. Over the summer I was in Cuba to take care of some family affairs and attend a funeral. I had zero time to do any sort of excerising. I'm back and I need to make a good impression for Zero Week which starts August 18th. I'd like to lose weight, but all I need to do is be able to do 50 pushups, situps, and possibly run 2 miles in 15:50. Can it be done and how can I do it?

The Army has excerise programs in place that I can follow but it's all for long-term excerising and time is not something I have right now.

Pain is not important. I don't want to hurt myself however. I also need /fit/'s help on a prepackaged meal or easily assembled meal to 5 times a day. I'd prefer to purchase the prepackaged stuff because it's jsut easier to buy and eat rather than handcrafting my food. I also don't have qualms about eating the same thing over and over again.

THAT'S THE ATTITUDE. NOW DROP AND GIVE ME 10, 6, 6, 5, AND 10 PUSHUPS. REST INBETWEEN EACH SET. BE SURE TO RECOVER SO YOU CAN DO THE NEXT SET WELL. IF IT TAKES FIVE MINUTES SO BE IT.

Eat less, but more meat and fruit. Go out and run for 20 minutes, walk 3. Do that for an hour, go home ,rest half an hour, and repeat that until you drop. Makes ure to kepe your sugar and water up. The next day aim for 400 situps and 200 pushups. Do the running every day, add 15 seconds to your run time every day. Do the pushups and situps in increments (no, not all at once) and mark it off on paper, but do it every second day.

Swim =/= Boat.

Goodluck trying to swim 90 miles and that's assuming you go from the closest two points.
You fail good sir.

Rapid weightloss is probably easier than muscle gain. Maybe try some emergency shit like Velocity diet.

Forget the dumbells. You need to be good at pushups, situps, and running. Start doing those.

Eat 1.5xBodyweight in grams of protein to absolutely maximize your gains. Workout out with 3 set of pushups and situps until failure, very other day. If you can do them weighted, even better.

As for running, consider this:
>In Tabata's study, the researchers found that guys who used the routine five days a week for six weeks improved their maximum aerobic capacity (a measure of your body's ability to consume oxygen--the more oxygen you can take in, the longer and harder you'll be able to run) by 14%. What's more, it also improved anaerobic capacity (which measures your speed endurance, or the duration you're able to sprint at full effort) by 28%. So the Tabata Protocol is the rare workout that benefits both endurance athletes and sprinters--hard to accomplish. Consider: A study of traditional aerobic training--running at 70% of aerobic capacity for 60 minutes--for the same number of weeks showed an improvement in aerobic capacity of 9.5% and no effect on anaerobic capacity.

And don't forget, Nil Desperandum.

By august 15th, on the most aggressive program that stays within healthy parameters, you could stand to lose 8-10 pounds of FAT (although maybe 15 pounds of WEIGHT total if you have a lot of excess water).

Look into this as well:
