shitty new trend at my gym: people doing 20-rep sets of fucking SHRUGS at the power rack

seriously, i hate machines just as much as any other serious weightlifter, but if you're going to even do SHRUGS (the isolatingest of the isolating exercises,) DO THEM ON THE FUCKING SHRUG MACHINE AND QUIT HOGGING THE RACKS

also, ITT: gym rage

then do them on the calf raise, or do them with dumbbells, or those prefab barbells if your gym has one

surely your gym has to have one of the four. ferchrissakes, the power rack is for goddamn squats and assorted other real barbell exercises

I approached the squatting rack the other day.

There was this guy who was squatting 90 lbs. with god awful shit form. I'm talking bent back, knees all over the fucking place...the works.

I approached him and kindly asked:

"So many sets you got left?"

Nothing prepared me for the response.

"I don't know. I'm no expert."

There is nothing that pisses me off like people using the squat racks for non-squat exercises.

I've seen people hogging the only squat rack in a big gym to do fucking CURLS.

I use body weight exercises. Enjoy your useless expensive gym membership.

shrugs are just a ridiculous exercise to begin with. i always lol when i see goofy-lookin' dudes with XBOXHUEG traps, an underdeveloped upper body, chicken legs, and a backwards baseball cap. they're so common.

ya i haven't done shrugs in a long long time.

Unless you are a serious body builder, deadlifts cover that part of the body well enough.

Behind the back shrugs are fantastic for traps, they feel much awesomer than regular shrugs, do 3 setsof 6 reps with HEAVY ASS WEIGHTS. Be over before you know it, epic traps will be yours.

It's hard to do 500lb shrugs with dumbbells or a calf raise machine. My gym doesn't have 250 lb dumbbells.
