sup /fit/, was wondering if anyone uses ankle/wrist/body weights, and do they really help with strength training?
>> Anonymous
do 45 minutes of shadow boxing and get back to me
>> Anonymous
They don't help and can seriously hurt your joints. Don't use them for anything. Invest in weights instead.

They can really fuck your joints. Leave them for the cartoon characters.

I used my friend's 10lbs ankle weights on my wrists when I practiced liquid glow stick dancing in the 90s. They made me fast as shit and the inertia trained my hands to move in very smooth paths.

dont wear them on your wrists, its unhealthy fo real. Its ok in the ankle tho. Avoid putting them right on the articulation, and you can wear them all the day.

they work if you play basketball every single day and wear them while playing (ankle weights)

i think it will help your vertical.

They can hurt your joints. Your better off with a weighted vest.
>> Anonymous
i heard that shit fucks ur ankles up and makes em fill up with fluid/scabs to cushion the joints

to the op, i use this exact same model on my wrist and ankles i was thinking about wearing them all day (lazy exercise is what i call it) but there are issues like driving a car and you can get into accidents and you can wear yourself out but on teh bright side i improved speed and a little Strenght. I do see improvements in my arms. I shadow box and walk with those things so i aprrove. Don't strain yourself though, these guys are right your joints get a little sore the first time but i got use to it and my body built a resistance against it.

It depends where you have the weights. If they are causing joint stress, that's bad. If they're simply cusing arm muscle stress that's not bad. Still, it takes a while to see any difference and it's both quicker and healthier to lift weights.
