226lbs here, and I have been able to jog fine for a while -- my stamina is the limiting factor, nowadays.
I'd say all you need to be able to jog is to do squats for a few weeks prior (for some basal leg strength to secure your joints), get a biomechanically fit pair of shoes, and run on the proper surface and you'll be fine. You may not even need the squat buffer, seeing as you do some leg aerobics now anyways.
