EGG'S
I'm trying to lose weight. How many egg's should i eat during a day? and should i cut out yolk because of it's high colesterol and fat intake? Till this day i've avoided eating egg's cos of fat and colesterol, but have i been guilty all this time?

Eggs are great, but when I wanted to lose fat I completely cut them out of my diet and switched to oatmeal for breakfast. It made a BIG difference.

Don't cut out the yolks, thats the good stuff.

And I hope you're exercising with both cardio and strength training, etc. etc. etc. same shits been said before.

Also is this some new faddy egg diet I've never heard of going on right now? Because I eat eggs as an after workout food or for breakfast sometimes, but mostly I just scarf 2 or 3. Meh.

The protein is pretty much equally divided between the white and the yolk, while almost all the fat and cholestrol is solely in the yolk. So no, the "good stuff" is in all of the egg. In fact, there's actually more protein in the whites than in the yolk.

Having said that, The large amounts of cholestrol isn't really a problem unless you have high blood cholestrol. And fat isn't bad, so eating the yolks isn't horrible. Eggs are like any other food (except for green leafy vegetables) in that too much is bad.

I heard cholestoral counting (limiting) is really only important is get Old, or already have it really high. Healthy people don't usually need to worry about that. Now this post could be backed up by numbers, but I'm lazy and don't know them.

I eat about 2-3 in the morning but i also eat fish, steaks and chicken.

All the cholesterol myths are debunked in latest studies which says yolk is healthy for you in most cases if you are active

There's nothing like prevention, or developing healthy habits before it becomes a health issue.

OP: You can replace any recipe that calls for a whole egg with two egg whites. Otherwise, eggs are not a magical food that you must eat X of every day. As long as you are tracking your calories and exercising regularly, you should be able to squeeze them in where you like.

And for the public record: Refusing to eat certain foods, even in moderation, because you're worried about fatness is one sign of an eating disorder. Enjoy your doughnut, but just take one out of the box!

to expand on the not magical food,

eggs are considered "the 100% protein" source, as the only best one. other protein sources are weighted against eggs. I found that percentages within percentages confusing, so, uh nm.

just be careful. don't go crazy with eggs daily. Heard guy had a life threatening allergic reaction going overboard, having daily for weeks. there's more to it than that though.

>>In addition, the protein in raw eggs is only 51% bio-available, whereas that of a cooked egg is nearer 91% bio-available, meaning the protein of cooked eggs is nearly twice as absorbable as the protein from raw eggs.

Tl;dr, make sure you cook your eggs!

Basically, so long as you include the fat content in your well-rounded diet plan, you can eat all the eggs you want. On average, the body likes 40-60 grams of fat per day, and each egg (yolk) has 7 grams of fat. The whites are nothing but protein, calorie-wise. I am going to start eating 3 eggs and 1 white in the morning (with a bowl of shredded wheat, mind you), and then eating my almost fat-free diet for the rest of the day. Mainly because I hate spending 5 bucks on Egg Beaters when I can get more real eggs for less than half the price.

Don't torture yourself. I'm donut-free for at least over a year and would never eat another. I eat unprocessed carbs now and high protein/fat from nutritious sources. While I binge every two weeks, I binge on good food and my appetite for trash is about zero.

It's a habit! Just drop it, not drag it out agonizingly!
