There is no exercise that will remove fat from a specific area.
Your body stores fat in certain places based on genetics. As you reduce your calorie intake and increase calorie consumption, your body will have to use it's energy stores (fat) to keep up with the demand.
So, what you have to ask yourself is what you can do to reduce your calorie intake (eat less, drop certain foods out of your diet, eat healthier) and what you can do to increase your calorie consumption. People already use quite a bit of energy simply maintaining body heat and other normal functions. You'll need to do something like biking, swimming, running on a treadmill, or some other kind of workout that gets your heart pumping and makes you breath heavily for a decent amount of time (basically that feeling you get after you sprint 30 feet).
You may have to get over your hate of the gym. In order to really change your body you have to have a strong desire to, there is no easy way, you have to want it and want it bad enough that you'll give up things you may not want to give up and get over some dislikes.
