i completely disagree with the guys telling you that if you have proper form you wont fuck up your back. I starting lifting when i was about 14 and was taught proper form. however, regardless of whether you use proper form or not, your legs are made up of several very largemuscles that require a lot of weight if you are trying to get bigger. point is, putting weight on your shoulders will compress your spine. i am 20 years old now, and have severe scoliosis, a compacted spine, and slipped discs. if you are going to do squats, wear a belt, have great form, and try to alternate other leg exercises so that you are only doing squats about once a month.
