Preparing for a Tae Kwon Do tournament Anonymous
Hello /fit/, i need some advice

Im a blue belt in tae kwon do, i have to go to a sparring tournament very soon on october 11th. What should i do and on what days should i do to improve my cardio endurance, and any other stuff. My stretching is taken care of, but i want to have plenty of endurance without burning out my muscle for energy.

my email is Alan4017@yahoo.com same as my account name on youtube.com

Keep yourself well fed and you won't burn off any muscle for energy.

Running from all the crazed niggers who will stalk you down now that you've posted your email.

I'm into taekwondo myself. International level black belt here.

For points, do the splits. Kicking the head gives 2 points, whereas kicking the vest only gives you 1. Also, you need speed, so leg raises and kicking a punching bag is good too.

Good point kicking the head, but the place im at, the rules are if I am not a black belt im not allowed to strike the head. :)

You're 2 weeks away, you won't be able to increase your endurance that much. Jog/run at a moderate speed for like 30 minutes at a time, twice a day, 3 days a week. Take the two days before the tournament light.

which would work better muscular endurance or muscular strength? They say that too much muscle would slow you down.

Alan?

j/k MMA fighter here, if your gonna be doing short, intense rounds <5 mins you should improve your cardio with interval training. Long runs wont let you maximize an intense short burst of cardio.

Just because I hate taekwondo.

One is a marathoner, who needs to have insane amounts of endurance but not a lot of speed. The other is a sprinter, who only needs to run super fast for 100-200 meters.

But I do see the point.

OP lean muscle does not slow you down. It helps you move faster actually.

fast twitch muscles are better for short fights.

Its Tae Kwon Do,, its not even real fighting you faggot. You wouldn't need to train unless you were going to compete in a real martial art like muay thai or judo.

When I'm bored and need lulz I go to /b/ and look for noobs who think posting their email is still a good idea. It's even better when they post their school email, its not like they can get rid of it.

You don't need to be all that strong to win point sparring. No offense, but I doubt you're in a position where you really have to fine tune your body. Just focus on general health, endurance, speed, and weight training.

When you start reaching like, 200lbs with 8% bf, you can worry about muscle weighing you down and shit. I did TKD in college at 245lbs 26% bodyfat and was 6-0 in sparring.

I don't do TKD anymore and now just focus on cutting body fat and maintaining muscle. Currently 21%bf at 235lbs.
