Gyms Anonymous
Hey /fit/ I'm a pretty fit and healthy guy. I have a tone body and I'm no weakling but I want a bigger build. I wanna know if it is worth it to join a gym or just spend the one time cost of buying workout equipment. All I have at the moment is free weights and a pull up bar but no bench or anything. So what is better overall?

Depends. A simple bench is a great investment either way.
For me, I just don't want to spend time in the gym and I think that the simpler the workout, the better.
Dumbbells, barbell, weights and a bench are all I want or need.

Imo Gym is overall better because of the atmosphere there

But I would consider home gym if it had a Squat cage, a bench, barbell and weights.

Properly outfitting a home gym takes a lot of space, money, and time. Also, if there's even the smallest chance you may move in the next decade or so - moving gym equipment is not very much fun. I'd go with joining a gym.

I prefer the gym because it's more motivation to actually work out. I also like the social aspect of it now that I've gotten to know the regulars at my gym.

buy an olympic bar and plates, power rack, and a bench
