sup /fit/, I've got a question for you sirs

basically I'm very limited to what I can do when it comes to exercise, I fucked up my jaw in a car accident and have been in chronic pain the past few months

last time I tried lifting I was in hell for a week and could barely do anything, so today after talking to my doctor he said walking, biking and possibly swimming are my only options

he mentioned an elliptical and a stationary bike, I'm thinking about buying a stationary bike since it's all i can really use

if I do get one will this be sufficient enough t o lose some weight and possibly tone up if I use it 2-3 hours a day?

tldr i'm a fucking idiot and dont know shit about cardio, i've always lifted and now I'm stuck doing this, so i need halp

do whatever bodyweight exercises you can considering your condition and bike/swim for cardio.

running is shite, just fucks up your joints, swimming and cycling is somewhat great for rehabilitation.

yea like I said I pretty much ruled out running, if anything I'll just walk a shitload but i was just curious if only doing the stationary bike will be good enough

cycling at a high intensity burns a crapload of calories, its good cardio, will strengthen muscles in the legs quite well, all i did for years was cycle and my legs were strong as hell when i got older.

great thing with cycling is it's good for rehabbing the knees, my dad has torn his ligaments in both knees and through cycling has rehabbed them, he still plays sport today @ 50+ years old

Wrong. Running strengthens joints, it doesn't hurt them. Bad form hurts them.

But I would say, go for some cycling, with a good RPM (80-90), and do some resistance and hill work.

bit misleading, because pretty much all adults have bad form unless they have maintained running since they were kids. someone who is obese has no business running. fuck, i was a fit young gym-going guy with 10% body fat and i gave myself shin-splints when i started running again.

OP here, you must mean the guy above me but anyway i'd love to run rather than cycle indoors but I'm going to take my docs advice for now and stick with it pretty strictly

Sorry, this is modified pasta.

I remember asking this guy how he could do an impact activity such as jogging with chronic pain in his jaw.
