Hey /fit/

What advice would you give to a 350+ pound, 21 year old male that desperately wants to lose weight after reaching a dangerous point of unhealthyness?

Walking and bikes or not uncommon to me, but I always push myself way too hard and get discouraged very quickly. I need some kind of plan before I start, so I can balance the exercise with the abuse my body can currently take...

I'm also trying to change my diet, mainly because of something called "Irritable Bowel Syndrome". I have no problem with eating any healthy foods at all, I just need guidance with healthy eating.

Wow! You should write a book on weightloss!

run, don't walk

Short answer: Eat less, more frequently. Burn off more than you consume. Simple.

Better advice: Go see a nutritionist.

Running would probably destroy his feet at that weight.

totally run

Consult a doctor before you start doing any fitness work.
>> Weightloss Nex
Basically, consume less calories than you burn with exercise and body function daily and your body starts using its fat stores for energy. Try looking up the book "fitness for dummies" and check out their periodization program.

It is really simple to lose weight, but most people go about doing it the wrong way. You should combine weightlifting AND cardio into your daily exercises and plan your meals the day before. If this is a serious problem for you and money is not an issue i would suggest hiring a nutritionist/personal trainer to help you.

Oh gfuck, I saw OP's pic on the front page and now I want one or three, but its 4 in the morning!
>> Anonymous
Don't dive into it head first or you'll lose motivation, just read up about fitness and you'll find ideas to change every week.

For instance, today onwards NO MORE SODA, only diet coke or water or similar, no cheating either.

how many calories can you burn in a day from exercising?

Thanks guys. I can't really afford a trainer or anything, but my biggest problem was jumping into it, cutting off all junk foods and forcing myself to walk for 45 minutes a day...I've already cut things like fast food and soda and started drinking water. I'm gonna get weighed and shit today, and talk to some people about eating and exercise.
>> Anonymous
For starters you could try calculating your BMR (how many calories you would burn if you stayed in bed all day), subtract 500-1000, eat that much. Exercise ( Walking, swimming if you have a pool, etc).

Truth. At 350+ you should really consider seeing a nutritionist so they can help you set up the best weight loss program.

Next week start eating oatmeal for breakfast, now until the end of time, oatmeal for breakfast.
>> Anonymous
According to that site my BMI is roughly 3000.

I was also thinking about the oatmeal thing...I used to eat it before but I stopped caring...

and I know how ridiculous or "disgusting" my weight is btw, this is why I'm asking the questions. I don't wish to live the rest of my life like this, I just came from overweight parents that didn't give a fuck what I ate when I was growing up, and I want to change my shitty lifestyle now that I'm on my own.
>> Anonymous
>According to that site my BMI is roughly 3000.

No, that sounds like your BMR, which is the calories you have per day to maintain your weight, in which case, for you, don't go over 2000cal

>I used to eat it before but I stopped caring...

Can't get anywhere like this.
>> Anonymous
>Can't get anywhere like this.

shit, true enough.

so...am i supposed to burn over a thousand calories a day?
>> Anonymous
You want a calorie deficient, which means you want to have less calories than your BMR, which is 3000, so you can do it in two ways, eat less calories, or burn off more calories through exercise, or both.
>> Anonymous
>>254897
No, count your calories and make sure you don't go over 2000 calories. There's about 3500 calories in a pound, so you just have to eat less than what your body burns a day (which is around 3000 for you).

oooh ok i get it now.

so i have a gym nearby with a nice bike and treadmill, but would it be better to just walk outside? i have a problem with sore feet so im trying to work around it...

anything that gets your heart pumping and sweating. Do cardio. Running (even just a brisk walk if that gets your heart beating), Bicycling, swimming, etc.

If you are really serious about losing weight then fast food/soda/sweets must go. I know it's hard when you are used to fatty foods, so when starting maybe set up one day every two weeks where you can break your diet and eat fast food. It's better to plan a diet break than give into your cravings and actually break a diet. Also something that helps a lot with cravings and motivation that you can do is take a picture of yourself shirtless. You don't uhave to show it to anyone else, just have it tucked away maybe in your porn stash folder or some shit and look at it whenever you get cravings for fatty foods. Remind yourself that a lifetime of fatty foods got yor body to that point and you don't want to go back. It'll kill that craving and give you that push to not give up.

Get a gym membership somewhere, get yourself a trainer for a while. S/he will better know what kind of pace you should be setting for yourself, plus you won't be able to just get frustrated and walk away when there's some dude right there watching you.

pick any healthy diet routine that is easiest for you to stick with... DASH, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, Glycemic Index, etc.

- don't eat at any fast food restaurants, except subway (subway still has high sodium tho...)
- don't pick the Atkins diet (try to cut down on red meat/animal fats, if possible)
- eat foods w/ healthy fats like coconut oil, vegetable oil, flaxseed oil, things that have linoleic acid...

>>254839
No, you are because you didn't at least write SOMEthing down that could possibly help OP.

OP, all you have to do is realize first off that you are unhealthy and make the food change. Changing both your food intake and adding exercise is sometimes too difficult for people, so take it one step at a time. Just start off by getting rid of all the junk food in your house and vowing to not eat that shit food in your picture. Force yourself to eat fresh fruits and veggies for a while, and your body will get used to the taste and won't want those pig disgusting trans fats and bad food anymore. It just takes a lot of self-control at first, but becomes habit later.

Keep posting on /fit/ about your progress. We'll have to listen to you cry and scream, but you'll get the motivation to do better every time.

Whatever you do, just don't stay on /fit/ or the internet in general for too long. You have to get outside.

Drink ONLY Water, when i quit drinking soda I lost 30 pounds over 2 months. I was drinkin about 5 cans a day
>> Anonymous
All you have to do is try.
Do anything.
I weighed 170lbs and now i've been 110-120 for the past 3 years.

I lost about 5 lbs a week and all I did was TRY.

No more milk or Soda. Just drank water.
Home cooked meals.

Home cooked meals will have 1/2-1/4rd the calories of any frozen microwaved crap or fast food and will be more filling. Same thing you might get that's frozen food, like chicken with mushroom sauce and rice or whatever. If you make that home made it'll be half the calories and taste better.

The "processed" foods are processing foods to make them cheaper NOT healthier.
And I swear to god they put stuff in fast food that just makes you more hungry.

Key thing is ONLY drink water and LOTS of it. 80 oz's a day minimum. It'll make you feel more full.

Eventually your stomach will get smaller after a few weeks and you'll crave food less.
Don't fill yourself up. ONLY EAT UNTIL YOU'RE NO LONGER HUNGRY. Maybe deal with some minor hunger pains, they'll go away after a few weeks.

Why would you convince someone to quit soda completely when you comsumed an excessive amount? If I drank water til i'm sick, should I recommend people to not drink water?

As long as you keep active, one or two cans a day isn't gonna get you fat. unless you're trying to fucking lose weight because you're an obese fuck.

OP = excuse fag

Guidance? LOL. Any retard can eat healthy.

Eat healthy and/or exercise regularly. Take stairs, walk the longer route. You don't have to commit yourself to a program because you have to understand that you're a fag and therefore will quit. Make it a habbit, not a chore you fat fuck. Eat less, work more.

I realy hate fat fucks. RAGEEEEE
