What works better when working out, Gatorade or Water?

I only drink water throughout the day except during exercising. I know that Gatorade is suppose to replenish your fluids faster but does it have any negative effects? What do the people of /fit/ prefer when working out?

I just drink water. High-fructose corn syrup = fail

Lord, why do people ask this all the time? WATER IS ALWAYS BETTER.

Depends. If I'm on a heavy cardio day I'll mix half water, half gatorade. When I'm just lifting, I stick with water.

Half water, half Gatorade Frost - Glacier Freeze

All other flavors of Gatorade are too sweet tasting.

if you're going to drink gatorade, get the powdered mix it yourself. 1. No high fructose corn syrup 2. cheaper 3. can control how much sugar you're intaking.

Allright, Here's the skinny on gatorade/powerade whatever.

It has carbs and whatnot, which give you energy to keep performing if you're playing sport or whatever.

But it has plenty of calories, so if you're working out simply to lose fat, then all you're doing is shooting yourself in the foot.

TL;DR, Looking to lose weight, drink water.

HOLY FUCKING STUPIDITY, ANON!

gatorade is MUCH better for sustained, high intensity activity (according to GSSI, mix powder at half strength for ACTUAL optimum.... or dilute bottles to a 2:1 gatorade:water ratio)

Last summer I ate beef jerky all day and drank about a gallon of propel every day. It was really expensive. But at the beginning of the summer I weighed 186. at the end I weighed 138. Plus spending all day in the sun doing physical activity.

So you're saying if I decided to eat basically no carbs, I WILL LOSE WEIGHT?

Amazing.

Also, that sounds like a shitty, shitty diet

LISTEN TO THIS MAN

i can assure you that you're not sweating out enough sodium to justify it. it's great for dehydration, though, and a bottle of it after a night of drinking can really help with the hangover...

i was reading that consuming carbs during lifting increases your body's ability to recover post workout. but i dont drink gatorade, that stuff is shitty corn syrup sugar. try some honey water or clif shots.

Other than a few extra vitamins/minerals (which you're better off getting from vegetables), honey is almost identical to HFCS.
