okay guys. whats the deal with SQUATZ? why does everyone say they're so great? okay they work the leg muscles but what makes that so special?
Don't question your elders, they know better than you. Squats are supposed to be a well-guarded secret, only for the top level athletes. All i can say is that you're missing out if you don't do squats and that's your own problem.

Legs are big, training them releases a lot of growth hormone into the blood which benefits the whole body.
Squats are to legs as bench is to chest and shoulder press is to shoulders as rows are to back. Just do them.

Squats are really essential to bodybuilding and strength training programs. They are that damn good. Don't question the benefits of an exercise that has benefited so many people in the atheletic/lifting community.
