i could go on, but who cares. /epeen

ehhhh its fun but not the holy grail people claim. i was a very good "all around" CF'er, but its time to specialize in something more productive...

I met a Mike at the gym a while back, he suggested I check it out.

Still haven't honestly, but will do soon. He seemed pretty damn fit, so I think there's something to this crossfit regimen.

Well, it's not necessarily about LOOKING strong, it's about BEING strong. Crossfitters are typically much more athletic and in better shape than a typical CURLZ 4 GURLZ weight lifter.

CF > most

I want to drink the Crossfit koolaid. The website looks great. Wish there was a seminar or gym in my area.

It seems a lot of Crossfitters are into that now, finding a specialty, like Crossfit Endurance and some others on the main message board who do a hybrid crossfit/strength program.

here's where i disagree. i'm the "reformer" from above. i was a pretty competitive CFer compared to the times on the mainsite board and by smoking everyone in my affiliate in just about everything except the CFT cause i'm not that strong (900 total = 325 BS, 415 DL, 160 SP)

i went to an oly-gym and saw a 170lb guy do a behind the neck jerk with 320lbs, and a few guys doing bodyweight and over snatches

i realized its not cool to be a jack of all trades, i'd rather specialize and be able to snatch over my BW, C&J 1.5x bodyweight, front squat 2x bw, etc than be able to run around being "pretty good" at CF's idea of fitness.

instead i'm going to pursue competitive oly-lifting, a real challenge... unlike crossfit

hybrid cf/strength is just watered down crossfit for those who want to get a little bit stronger without losing their coveted "metcon"

sure you will get stronger, slowly... and you're metcon might improve, slowly... CF people need to have direction - either get very strong, very fast, very good at gymnastics, very good at oly lifts, etc rather than just be average at everything.

the eye candy is nice, and my girlfriend likes it... thats about it

No we don't. It's fine if you want to get good at one thing. We don't.

the only CFer i like
ACTUALLY athletic, and on such a low does of kool-aid he can see where he fits on a CONTINUUM, as opposed to the TOP of the pyramid.

cheers+we have similar goals, 10k left for the pwr SN

if u want to OL w/the CF feel, check out 'mike's gym', run by Mike Burgener, (casey's dad)
