Hey /fit/, is it bad to do lift when you feel even the slightest bit of soreness? Like would it be detrimental to my muscle building if I lift while I'm even a little bit sore or would I still get roughly the same benefit? Thanks.

Pic unrelated, but if you look closely its' tail looks like a cheeseburger.

its fine, only time not to lift is if you feel completely destroyed muscle wise and also very unenergetic

Ah I see. Thanks.

Just do very light lifting, don't go extremely strenuous weightlifting when you're sore. I usually just stick to pushups and crunches when I'm sore.

Lift just the same when you are sore as you would when you are not.

Unless of course you're so sore that you can't actually go through the motions without considerable discomfort.

If you don't continue to work through soreness, your body will never adapt to the workload and you'll be sore everytime you lift.

If you want to bulk-up, soreness is something to stay away from. A (few) day(s) of rest never hurt anybody.

If it's true strength you want, work into the pain and welcome it as your new best friend. (Please, be aware of the danger of stress fractures [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stress_fractures ] though.)

Quoted for untruth.
