I hate /fit/ mostly because of this. They read some half assed article regarding the effects of aspartame on mice, and OH SHIT CANCER! or one on people gaining weight from drinking diet coke and OH SHIT WEIGHT GAINER!
Here are the real facts. Humans will probably never see the effects of aspartame. I mean, to see any effects at all, you'd have to consume a twelve pack every day for maybe a decade. Even then, probably nothing. Seriously, my brother's diabetes doctors and nutritionists, and any doctor I have ever been to have told me the same thing: drinking up to three-four cans a day won't do anything.
Now, making you hungrier? Really just more bullshit. It's the type of bullshit I like to call, "Let's make a myth about a product that isn't the most natural thing out there." Whether it's Splenda (I've heard people claim there's fucking bleach in it) or diet coke, people will try to make it sound bad because, ultimately, there's nothing bad about it. BUT NO, THERE HAS TO BE! Anyway, I've been drinking diet drinks with my dinner and sometimes lunch everyday for about seven years now. I've never felt hungrier. Remember the made up myth bullshit? It applies to the fake sugar tricking your brain. It isn't as smart sounding or logical as the dumbfucks who made it up think it is. You know how you can gain weight with diet coke in your diet? By being a stupid fatass, getting a diet coke, and then assuming you can eat whatever the fuck else you want because you're drinking diet coke.
