My coworker half ripped a tendon in his shoulder and has a similar problem. Are you double jointed or have a previous injury? You may want to start off using a butterfly machine. Start low and work your way up to strengthen your chest muscles. It won't necessarily help your pushups, but if you have some joint instability the extra muscle should help suck everything back in. At least that's what my doctor told me to do about my hypermoble knees. Before I could stand running I had to do SQUATZ to get my hamstrings to suck my knees together. That's right, my doctor prescribed SQUATZ.
