So I just started on birth control last Thursday. Yet, yesterday and today I've had my period. Nothing big- but its there. Is this normal? I didn't miss any of the pills...Can anyone enlighten meh?

I'm going to fall back on what my room mate was screaming at me at the top of her lungs.

"BECAUSE THEY TAKE A WHILE TO WORK YOU STUPID SHIT! GO BACK TO THE GYM AND LEAVE NORMAL PEOPLE ALONE. I HAVEN'T CHANGED AT ALL."

Does that help at all?

You're still supposed to have a period, it just lowers your chances of getting knocked up. Also, it can help make your cramps not as bad. My girlfriend just got switched to some new birth control that almost gets rid of her cramps completely.

My doctor said I'd have spotting, but other than that-no period. I guess it depends on what you're on.

A hormonal medication like BC won't be able to sway your cycle right away, it takes a few months to get fully in the groove with it.

Also, most of the pills aren't anything more than a placebo anyway, just to help keep you used to taking a pill daily so you stay with it. Likely you haven't even gotten to the hormone pills yet.
