I'm not sure whether this board includes mental health as well but I figured I give it a shot.

For the past five or so months I've gradually become more and more routine and it's gotten to the point where even if I'm bored out of my mind with this routine I will stick to it and not even try to solve the problem. I've also become strangely obsessed with cleaning, not because I feel dirty in unclean environments, I just feel obligated to clean where ever I go.
This all started when I went back to school and had a boyfriend (when I went back to school we had been going out for four months, we've now been going out for nine and a half). I had thought that maybe this was just me making an effort to balance everything but it has gotten progressively more ridiculous and dull.

Am I freaking out about nothing?

You have OCD. Your brain now thinks those routines are normal behaviour. It makes you repeat them.

Yep, sounds like OCD. Your best bet is to find a friend who is spontaneous and hang out with him.

For example, today I refused to use the stairs, so I had my girl throw a rope out a third story window for me to climb up.

Guess what, Scotty was predictable, so Fiona cheated on him, then some guy made a song about it. Then he went to Europe with Michelle Trachtenberg. That shoulda been it.

If this behavior is something you can't stop, or something that makes you feel bad about yourself please seek professional help.

If not, it's not the worst habit/impulse to have at all. OCD is really only a problem when it negatively affects you or the people around you.
