I'm 6'0, 280 pounds, and 23 years old. I have no medical conditions or anything preventing me from exercising. I work at the airport in the baggage department (TSA) tossing bags for eight hours a day. My arms, back, chest and shoulders are pretty big (hopefully a good portion of my weight is devoted to muscle), but everywhere else looks pretty shitty.

Shirt size is 2XL, pant size is 40, beyond that I don't know what other info to give.

Basically, I want to lose about 40 to 50 pounds and build some endurance/stamina in the process. I was thinking about trying Slim Fast (can for breakfast, can for lunch, and a regular dinner) but I don't know how worthwhile this will prove.

I do own a pretty nice treadmill, but I've never really used it aside from making sure it works (had a "gonna lose weight" moment before, but the motivation died).

Would you guys reccomend slim fast at all? It seems like a pretty nice alternative, especially since I keep spending so much money on shit convenience food. What would you reccomend I do in order to meet my weight loss goal? What about water? How much is too much? I've heard that you can actually fuck yourself up pretty bad if you drink too much of it.

What about gatorade? Good to drink during a diet or stay away from it?

As meal replacement shakes go, slimfast sucks air. Almost any supplement vendor will make a better meal rep shake. Look into them at bodybuilding.com or any other site, or you local supplement store.

Also, don't replace more than one meal a day with shakes. Solid food is important.

To meet your weight loss goal, you should eat less, and work out more.

You have to very seriously WORK at it to hurt yourself by drinking too much water. I can go through two gallons a day when cutting with no ill effects. You don't need to start worrying about hepatotoxicity or encephalitis unless you are 1) taking an anti-diuretic or 2) drinking six-ish gallons a day.

Gatorade is sugar water, avoid it like the plague.

Protip: Pretty much anything listed as a diet aid does nothing and exists solely to get the money of fat people with money, no brains, and desperation.

aka, YOU.

Hit the gym! No, a majority of your weight is not muscle. Put weight training into a routine with cario exercise and a proper diet and you will see the pounds drop but it takes dedication! There is no miracle and it takes time. Slimfast is okay but it replaces a solid meal, you're better off just eating healthier more often and smaller portions.
