Dear Anonymous, i keep hearing people talking about the bad effects of coffee.

aside from addiction, what's so bad about coffee?

could one do some heavy lifting and cardio while taking coffee?
>> Anonymous
Artificially increases heartrate. Rarely a good idea, but some people do use it to their benefit.
>> Anonymous
other than that?

I drink coffee cause i like it but also in hope of increasing my metab rate a bit i supose
>> Anonymous
it has other benefits. it is shown to increase alertness, concentration and memory. it contains antioxidants as well i believe.

Coffee isn't bad itself, it's just the caffeine. As long as you have it in moderation it's fine. It can increase your metabolism and gives you energy. Drink it black though, I hope you aren't talking about a Starbucks blended drink.
>> Anonymous
It makes some people shit themselves. Since there's a direct link from the gut to the brain I'd hate to think what else its doing to them.
>> Anonymous
nah, sometimes drink it black but other times with milk.

temporarily, then you lose it

yes, the benefits of foods are often lost when they leave the system. funny that.

next up, vitamin c provides only temporary prevention of scurvy.

Smartass. Temporarily as in a few hours.

Everything in moderation.
And I read that it's better to drink some coffee than no coffee.

I drank coffee heavily in high school, then I stopped and now when I drink it it almost instantly gives me a stomach ache and diarrhea eventhough other caffeinated shit doesnt, sup with that?

It seriously dehydrates you.

I did the same thing really. I drank coffee pretty much every day in high school. Once I was out of high school I didn't drink any coffee for 3 years, or even any other caffeinated drinks. I had a cup of coffee a couple weeks ago and it was a massive overload. I'll probably never drink coffee again. It's funny that people can get so hooked on it.

While I drink green tea with breakfast and freinds. Sometimes a cup of coffee is nice. However as far a caffeene ie coffee goes with working out, heres the deal.
Try drinking it before you due a heavey streinght training work out. Just make sure you saty hydrated during and after the work out. It can also be good for timing and heavy bag excercises when your planning on a work till you drop episode.
I would not recomend it before running or some of your other cardio workouts simply becouse you are going to get the stumoch glug. (like when you gusel water then move to fast up and down.)
Very important to remember to use artaficial sweetner instead of suger so you don't crash, and try to keep it on you heaby work out days.
The only down side that I have found to this is when I sit at the coffee shop with freinds and their all getting thier "buzz" on and chatting merilly. After the second cup I want to trow something heavy the unlish some combanations on something. My other buddies that due the coffee regamint with me say "dude thats pretty weird". So mabey thats just me, but if you try it out make sure you don't hate the person serving your coffee.

it tastes like shit

nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremulousness, muscle twitching (hyperreflexia), insomnia, headaches, respiratory alkalosis, heart palpitations, peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease
>> Anonymous
The only problem I've had with coffee is that it can mess up my exercise routine if I drink it within 2 hours or so beforehand. Probably to do with the dehydration it can cause. I know a few people who don't drink it due to the drowsiness you can experience a few hours afterwards too.

>>48566
...If you drink it like most people drink water.
>> Moonmauler
>>48546
Caffeine is only a mild diuretic. As long as your drink your water and don't go overboard with it you'll be fine.

>>48566
Not everyone gets those side effects. Personally I can use reasonable amounts of caffeine and not experience any of those symptoms.

also feel like that sometimes, and hyper too.

and what you mean by crash? i actually use little sugar just cause sometimes i really like it strong.

also, i don't really take that much coffee when doing heavy lifts cause it upsets my stomach really bad xD

>nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremulousness, muscle twitching (hyperreflexia), insomnia, headaches, respiratory alkalosis, heart palpitations, peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease

i actually love the muscle twitching thing xD
some of the syptoms you described are the hangover ones. if i don't take coffee i get headaches. also feel kinda slugish too.

one of my workout friends is getting retarded advice from his friends not to drink much water during workouts. so i'm not so sure, is this really retarded?

>>48566
sure, if you're mainlining 20 fucking cups a day. maybe.

if he listens to that he deserves everything he gets. please, what's the rationale? it must be pure awesomeness.

I tried to quit drinking caffeine. I quit smoking about seven years ago, so I figured cutting out coffee and/or cola would be a piece of cake.

Yeah.........turns out, not so much.

<down to two cups a day though>

i enjoyed smoking. but it was very bad for me and i was smoking two packs a day. giving up wasn't too hard.

coffee? i see no reason to give it up. i have one to two black coffees every morning. it's nice.

something about there being "too much" water in the body "while working out". really i'm clueless, next time I'll just shout him down with needing a bit of salt with that water.
>> Anonymous
>>49182

Yeah, I'll admit I probably had an easier time quitting than most smokers, as I was a very light smoker myself. At my "worst", I could still stretch a pack through the better part of a week.
>> Anonymous
>>49187
two packs a day. the habit is more addictive than the content.

>>49186
the fuck. fucking retard, dehydration by even a small amount leads to a decrease in performance by something like 20% or more. not hydrating is both stupid and potentially dangerous. your friend is a fucking moron.

I train and drink coffee (I drink it maybe 3-4 cups a day). But I've heard that ingesting creatine (sp?) and drinking coffee is bad. Why is this?
>> Anonymous
i supplement caffeine everyday for my workouts.
