Sleeping trouble Anonymous
I have a lot of trouble sleeping, even if I exercise all day, rest all day, eat all day or eat nothing, I can never seem to sleep. I don't eat junk food, candy, drink pop, coffee, or anything like that and I will exercise until my muscles can hardly move anymore, but still I will crawl in bed at 10PM and not be able to sleep until 4-6 AM. What can I do to help me get to sleep?

i keep a notebook by my bed and whatever I'm thinking about i get out of my head and on paper. sometimes it's working on a stressful problem, sometimes it's just a crazy half-awake idea I have that I know i'll forget by morning.

It's not eating more or less, but when. Look up recent studies on eating and jetlag.

1.) Definitely DON'T go see a doctor about this. I'm sure you'll just "grow out of it". Now excuse me while I administer a Native American healing ritual to my son who is dying of cancer. /sarcasm.

2.) See #1. Seriously.

3.) What does your diet usually consist (or lack) of? (ie: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.)

4.) Read a math book while in bed. Seriously, like REALLY try to read it. Read the formulas, read the instructions, read EVERYTHING. (It has to be AT LEAST Senior College level mathematics.)

Ambien (Zolpidem Tartate) 10 mg/as needed. If it's serious, then 15mg is sometimes prescribed. Works well, but you become very dependent. As long as you generally don't have a problem staying asleep, just tell your physician about your problem and he'll hook you right up.

what time do you wake up?

considering you don't go to bed until 4am (at the earliest), you probably don't wake up at a reasonable hour. This fucks with your circadian rhythm. When I had this problem, I found it easier to force myself to wake up earlier than it was to force myself to sleep earlier. Try to wake up at a normal hour to start with
Also, you should try going outside soon after you wake up. Exposure to sunlight also helps to readjust your body on to a normal rhythm

it worked for me, in any case

melatonin 2 hours before you need to sleep, usually makes that shit a lot easier.

But I only have mild insomnia (can't sleep for like an hour or so after trying).

Also, you might not even need sleep as much as you think, or you have some serious anxiety issues. If the main reason you can't sleep is because your thoughts are keeping you up, maybe you should look into meditation or something.
