this is awkward. thank god for 4chan. seriously i don't know to who else i could say shit like this too.
I like food. I don't think I'll ever hate food. But I have been getting fat. So I started to substitute food with cigarettes and coffee. I only eat one meal a day, no snacks. And exercise for 1 hour each day, no weights just cardio.
I just want to keep it up till I'm back to the way I was. Anyways, any real long term problems I might encounter with the lack of food? I really don't think it is that big of deal. Only thing is I'm a little worried that one day I'll wake up and be rushed to the hospital like some anorexic person. When I'm really not like that... Its more of a complicated diet? Nothing wrong with that? I mean I'm a guy, only girls have mad problems like that, right?

So you cut to one meal a day until you hit your old weight, then you start eating again and gain it all back? Seems kind of futile to me, and if you love food so much I can't really see you sticking to a single meal a day for the rest of your life.

You can love food and be at your desirable weight.

First off, disregard your belief that males can't have anorexia. You qualify for one anorexic trait: restriction. It isn't far away. You're not on a diet, you're just eating little.

You can eat a lot and maintain at your current weight. The secret is to give your body enough calories to maintain, and not more. It's not that complicated, right? You don't need cigs and coffee. Just eat healthier. Read mypyramid.gov and Google for some nutrition recommendations.

Why does this board have so much trouble with that idea? Eat enough to maintain and you will, eat a little less than you need to maintain and you'll lose.

i went on a crash diet like this, 8 cups of coffee, 1/2 pack of cigs a day with minimal food

i counted about 800 cals, only side effect i felt was feeling like i was going to black out every time i stood up from sitting etc

my vision would tunnel just about everytime, but i lost about 30 lbs over a month and everyone game me compliments + it was easier to keep the weight off once i wasn't fat

over a year and i haven't gained it back

ok, ok... I have been like that. I used to do that too. Eat only one meal a day to lose weight and then I start feeling just like you. That's because what you're doing is not healthy. I did lose like 4 kg in 2 weeks, but it made me feel like shit.

Stop doing it and do more exercise. It helps

Eat 5 or 6 small meals per day. And make sure you are getting in the proper nutrients that you are going to need every day. By eating every few hours you put your body in an anabolic mode more often through out the day which means you are burning more calories. Also eat more protein than carbs. You body burns more calories digesting protein than it does carbs.

To put it quite frankly, what you are doing is beyond stupid. Eating only one meal a day is counter-productive to weight loss. Do yourself a favor. Quit smoking, and eat 6 meals a day instead of one. Not only is it healthier, but it's actually better for losing fat.

Plus, you said you aren't even doing any weight lifting? Combined with your god awful "diet", i hate to break it to you but the majority of the weight you're losing is coming from muscle, not fat.
