So I've been working out all semester, but I've been having an issue that I'm really getting sick of. My left foot is hurting pretty bad, and it has been since I started.

After a warm up, followed by upper body workout I do 30-40 minutes on the Treadmill. I go 3 mins at 9, then 2 mins at 3.

Wondering if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong and why I'm feeling this pain. My shoes fit well(afaik) and it's just a pain that makes it hard to walk without limping most of the time. I have a feeling it's from the Treadmill, maybe I'm running wrong or something, I dunno.

I can't curl my big toe very well and and it hurts to move too much. Right foot is fine.

Pic shows where it hurts.

Maybe someone else has experienced this.

You can have a broken/dislocated foot without knowing it. If you only get pain (though it will probably be pretty severe pain) from motion/contact, then that is probably what it is. The fact that it is only on one foot corroborates this.

Question: do your toes hit your shoes? The golden rule is that there should be a thumb's width from the tip of your foot to the tip of your shoe, and the shoe should be wide enough to never squeeze your toes together. Remember to kick the tip of the shoe on the ground to fully test for this, as shoes tend to slip forward ever so slightly when broken in.

My shoes seem to have enough room in the toe, and enough on the sides as well. I have pretty big feet (17) but I don't think that could be an issue, as long as the shoes are fine. There doesn't seem to be any unusual wearing compared to the other shoe.

You could be developing a stress fracture. Get snugger shoes or buy some gel soles. Avoid high impact excercises like the treadmill. Use elliptical or a bike machine until your foot heals. If you don“t watch it, your foot will splinter and shatter.

had the same exact problem + pain area as you actually... might be different though cuz I was running with chucks/converse flats for a month before i started getting pain.

i switched my shoes to something with a thicker sole but still very light, ran a little lighter for three weeks (took 3-4 days break in between.. so pretty much i only ran twice a week for 30 min.) and it's fine right now. slight discomfort in the same area (my right foot) but it hurts waaaaaay less than it used to.

try lacing the foot of your shoe looser, the laces closer to your ankles tighter to keep them from slipping off. I find that it helps a bit, more room for your toes. i think having a slight bone misalignment like having a bunion makes it worse so go to a podiatrist see what they say.
