Heya /fit/.. I have a question that will probably cause /fit/wide rage, but here goes. I've been losing weight thanks to your advice, lost 70pounds so far, but at the moment more than to lose fat, i need to put on some muscles.. Im a pot bellied twig, bony arms with no muscle and a flabby little belly (which seems to be largely skin with wide spread fat). So I want to tighten up a bit, this is the problematic part... diet I have no problem with, after lurking this board so much I know the general idea of what will and wont help/fuck it all up. The problem is I live in an area too rural to go to a gym (nearest gym is 6 hours drive away) and being poor I can't afford any proper equipment, I have a makeshift barbell that maxes about 30 kilos (I can curl about 15 with both arms, twig) and otherwise I only really have the world around me, some dumbells (makeshift, again) that are about 4kilos each, so Im wondering if its actually possible to gain muscle with such minimal equipment and bodyweight exercises.. at the moment I'm 5'11 (roughly) and 152pounds, with no muscle and a little higher fat % than I want. Im not after a massive body builder body, just something to pull my flabby figure together a bit, and add some muscle to my muscle free body, can it be done? and if so what do I need to do?

Also, I've read all around the place, that if you lose weight when your young the skin can tighten to a degree, I'm 16 and wondering if this is young enough, and how long it might take?

Thanks /fit/

Pic unrelated.

If you can't get to a gym you're really going to have buy some basic equipment. You can buy a generic bench with plastic weights that go up to about 40kg, then put your own bar with metal plates on when you reach that limit. Total cost = ~$200. Plus a set of dumbells with adjustable weights so you can stack one bar up to 17.5kg only costs about $40. It's a good start, but until you get that stuff I'd advise buying a jump rope, and just using that, doing various forms of pushups and situps, and running or swimming if you have access to a pool.

Right, cheers.. on the path to getting that equipment, is there a way to increase difficulty of the standard bodyweight exercises? as mentioned, sit ups/push ups/pull ups/chin ups and so on?

You can do decline pushups, diamond pushups, maltese pushups, etc.

Do guillotine pushups too.
