Pushups & Other Exercises Anonymous
Hi /fit/,

I've read that doing pushups are amazing for your body, as they work your entire upper body. Is this true?

If so, are there other exercises that'll work my lower body just as well?

I like the idea of being able to do exercises anywhere, without equipment, and for free. I need to get back in shape, so in addition to walking, I'm looking for some basic exercises to do that'll help tone my body.

I'm in poor shape at the moment. I'm 5'10" (rounding up), and I'm a little over 250 lbs.

Can you say, "spare tire"? All the upper body muscle I had in high school turned to flab. It's pissing me off.

Do some guillotine pushups to work your lats. You set up two chairs for your arms, and one chair for your toes, then you lower yourself in between the two chairs.

They're pretty good but it depends on what you mean by working.

Pecs, Tris, Delts are worked directly
Lats, lower back and abs isometrically

I don't understand the difference. Can you explain that in layman's terms?
