I boxed for about a year and a half, I stopped because I didn't like how I'd feel scrambled for a day or so after each fight. 18's a good age to start, Get some lessons, they're invaluable... and go to a boxing gym. You can do some training at home, but you'll still need lessons. Don't neglect your cardio, if your endurance wains in a match, you'll most likely lose. If you get any injuries, get them taken care of immediately by a doctor or they may never heal right.
