If you're new to weightlifting no need to go out and buy an olympic bar and a ton of weights right off the bat. A non-olympic bar will hold weights of up to 200 lbs if it's a good quality. I have a CAP barbell that is pretty solid for being a cheap one. If you continue your progress and outgrow your equipment then it's time to start going to a gym.
Other than the bar and weights you'll need at minimum a squat rack (I bought one off Amazon, holds up to 500 lbs for $150) and a flat bench. Flat benches are fairly cheap, you can get a decent used one for less than $50 at used sporting goods places, probably less on Craigslist.
If you have more money to spend you could get a power rack, but those take up lots of space.
