Hey. I started a thread a while back complaining about lateral knee ligament pain. It's still there, but I'm going to go through with buying a new pair of running shoes and seeing my doctor in the coming week.

I'm in the UK and I want /fit/ to recommend me a good pair of running shoes. What choices do I have?

Google "illiotibial band syndrome". It's a pretty common ailment that causes lateral knee pain that's caused more or less by a lack of flexibility in your IT band/hip muscles. I was able to get rid of my knee pain in a week or so just by stretching my hips more before runs.

Still, a good pair of shoes certainly wouldn't hurt.

Credit to you, Anon. I just tried an exercise and it hit the exact area I'm experiencing pain in. Yet it's labelled as a thigh injury, but my pain had always come from when I had to lift my leg in this sort of position when running or walking (picture). Do you have anymore information on this?

I'm also interested in this. fellow britfag here, started running 2 months ago, all good, but my shoes are terrible, and theyre really taking their toll on my feet. so far ive been running in what you'd probably call 'loafers', or on other days some converse type shoes.

So i've decided to finally get a decent pair of trainers. Problem is, i have no idea what to even look for. I last bought trainers when I was 13. i'm now 21.

It's labeled a thigh injury because lifting your leg like that uses your hamstrings and other muscles of the thigh, not your calf.
