Good evening /fit/, I am in need in losing a bit of fat. From what I've read cardio is the best way to go, and from that running. Unfortunatly where I live, the only reason why you would be running is if you were running away from the police. So I was for the equivalent of running, and I started looking into jump roping. I've read that "about 10 minutes of jumping rope is equivalent to running an 8-minute mile", so I was just wondering if it was true. oh and any other tips would be fine too.

Unless you are living in fallujah, you can run in your neighbourhood. Stop making excuses.

No actually the last time I tried to run/jog I got chased down by a bunch of cholos. Although honestly I suppose I can try to go out a bit farther and try to run. But still I would like to know about the whole jump roping thing.

yeah, jumping rope is considered a good intensive activity and it can get you sweating pretty well, but I do running and jump roping and an 8 minute mile and 10 minutes of jumping rope are hardly equivalent. Still worth doing though.

So I guess I'll start right now. I still have to find some way to run then. Maybe a gym or something. Anyways, thanks. I really appreciate it.

Jumping rope is awesome, especially when you can start doing all the crosses and double jumps and what not. I hate running, it's boring, I did enough running when I played sports. The only kind of cardio that interests me now is jumping rope.

Kills my shins after awhile though, or doing it a few days in a row.
