I can't understand what my problem is with the bench press.
I can do what I think is a decent amount of wieght on pretty much every other machine in comparison to my peers but when it comes to bench press, I can barely do 80 when the weak kids pump out 100

what's even more confusing is I am in the top 20% for my physed class's pushup fitness test, where we do as many pushups as we can in a minute, I think my last one was maybe 37 or 42..
I'm 155 lb

So what the fuck? Why can't I bench press? it feels like I'm trying to lift 150.
Anyone else ever encounter this problem?

At 14, weighing 135, I could put up 160 and I have the worst body-type ever for bench pressing.

Don't use machines, they take alot of the balancing muscles out of play. And you sound fat and/or out of shape. My advice is start going to gym with a friend that knows what he is doing. You need to learn proper form.

1rm is maybe 115 if I push like mad, maybe, I'm sure I can do 100 atleast 2 times, but them I'm dead.

I asked the physed teacher what muscle was mainly used for BP, he said pectorals, is this correct? I think my triceps are shit

Bench is most dependant on triceps, back, and somewhat shoulder strength.

Yes, you do work your pecs doing bench, but chest strength has little to do with it compared to the other muscle groups i mentioned.

Don't worry so much about this crap. Lift stats and the like are just ego trips. Lift for strength.

I lift weak weights (Squat 65, Bench 55, these are my normal 5x5's, I don't care about maxes) and I weigh about 190. Maybe it's because I just started lifting for the first time ever last week.

Just lift and shut up.

This is probably why I have the misconception that my BP should be kickass since I'm so great with pushups.

I can imagine my triceps being weak, I'll work on those.
