I need to lose weight, but can't! Anonymous
So I'm a female 5'3" and 132lbs. I have a small frame, and would like to get down to 115 at least. This was the weight I was most comfortable at that made me feel like I was most capable of performing all the tasks I love to do. I have been trying to lose weight and have literally gone exercising on the elliptical 2-3hours at a time ever day and eating less than 1500 calories. I still have not lost weight. I eat a high fiber diet, so my body should not feel starved, and it generally is several small meals throughout the day.

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? What can I do to help the weight loss?

You're working out too much, I think! 1 hour of cardio should be ok :\ 3-5 days a week

Wanna fuck it off OP?

sex is a high energy activity that will cause better weight loss than 2-3 hours on the elliptical and save you time and money (could even make you money)

OP here

I'm a really shy person, and tend to be very selective of who I sleep with. If I had a guy or found one, that wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I'm at this goddamn plateau too, and I've been stuck for a year now. It's frustrating.

PROTIP: look at the angle of the picture. that is the very deceptive "myspace shot". she's probably fat and ugly. always ask for more pics, including NOODZ.

While it is a myspace shot, yes, if I were looking into those eyes while having sex I probably wouldn't last 5 minutes.

I really like blue eyes.

Get a bench and barbell, look up Starting Strength. Do presses and squats every day with a half hour of HIIT and you'll lose weight quickly.

The best way to lose fat is to replace it with the only other cellular structure that consumes calories at rest, muscle. In fact muscle requires more maintenance calories than fat and takes up less space by volume.

Get rid of the endurance cardio and the starvation diet, if you starve your body it will hoard fat to protect itself. Your body can make fat out of anything.

Go with HIIT. High intensity interval training. It burns less calories than endurance cardio but studies have show it burns 9x more fat. Do 2 minutes of a warm up pace you could maintain for 40 minutes, then do a burst of really intense sprinting for 1 minute, then back down to the pace you can maintain for 40 minutes, then another minute of intense sprinting. Rinse and repeat for as long as you can,. Some of the best athletes can only do this for very short periods of time, so don't be upset if you only get 10-15 minutes out of it. Do this 2-3 times a week. But don't go overboard and do it more than 3 times. It puts a lot of demand on your body and it's counterproductive to overwork your body.

Next throw in a nice easy weightlifting routine. 2 days a week of compound lifting is plenty for your needs.

Here is a routine I started with:

Day 1:
Squats
Bench press
Chinups

Day 2:
Deadlift
Shoulder press
Bent over row

Do those in a 3x5 format. You don't need to go crazy and get really heavy, start with a bare bar and work your way up to a comfortable level. Go to exrx.net and study the form on the lifts very carefully so as to not hurt yourself. And train with a bare bar until your form is good.

Make sure not to mix cardio with weightlifting. Separate the days or do one early in the day and one late in the day.

PT. 2

Eat plenty. It may sound weird but you need to eat enough to lose weight. You want to replace the fat with muscle, not turn into a skeleton or have your body keep hoarding fat. Eat about 2000-2500 calories spread out into 6 meals, keep it nice and clean, fish, white meat, fruits and veggies, milk/soy milk etc. Make sure your meals are balanced and or your body will be more likely to store unused nutrients as fat, I.e. make sure you mix protein carbs and fat into each meal, for instance, have an apple a turkey sandwich and a glass of milk for one of your meals. Drink plenty of water and throw in a multi vitamin in the morning for your micronutrients.

I think I covered everything, good luck.
