So /fit/, my gums have been bleeding every once and awhile for the past week and it's getting annoying. Anything I can do aside from stepping up my brushing, mouthwash, and flossing? I've switched to a soft-bristled brush, but every once and awhile during the day I'll taste blood in the back of my mouth, and it's getting irritating.

Get a professional dental cleaning from your dentist. Works wonders.
Use Paroex paste and mouthwash, shit rules.

What happened for me was I just started brushing my teeth again, my gums would bleed and hurt like hell. I just stopped brushing them for a day or two to let them heal up, then start brushing again. Maybe you're just shredding your gums and not giving them enough time to heal?

I'll try that. Thanks.

The bleeding is supposed to stop. Mine did when I finally started flossing daily. If it doesn't, you might have some deeper damage and need a pro cleaning as was mentioned already.

Looks like someone has played too much WoW and neglected their dental hygiene.

Calculus can form both along the gumline, where it is referred to as supragingival ("above the gum"), and within the narrow sulcus that exists between the teeth and the gingiva, where it is referred to as subgingival ("below the gum"). Calculus formation can result in a number of clinical manifestations, including bad breath, receding gums and chronically inflamed gingiva.

Do the professional cleaning as stated before, forget the whole "i'm not brushing for 2 days" lol, this will only give food fragments the chance to become new plaque (yes this type mineralisation can happen fast)

in medical science, calculus means "stone."

not saying that there is a stone in the gums, just saying there are different meanings to calculus.

calculus is the mineralized plaque and bacteria and two year old bagels you have between your teeth. it's also known as tartar because of the white shit that used to form inside of wine casks, tartaric acid.

Sterilize your brush with Listerine for 20 seconds to kill mutant bacteria that form from your saliva and airborne and other crap.

No more mouth ulcers with huge chunks of gum flesh coming off in a bleeding, painful mess for me!

Made sure it was not VD first.
