hey /fit/

What would happen if you ate enough protein, but not enough calories, while still working out every day?

You wouldn't have the energy to hit F5 to get a reply to this thread...

Protein has calories. The situation you present is not possible.

I dunno. Take this frozen chicken breast for example: 210 calores, 42 grams of protein. If I ate 3 of them a day I'd have the recommended protein I'd need for exercise, but only 630 calories.

I have the same question. Are fats and carbs necessary when working out?
>> Anonymous
Protein will get converted to essentially carbs usable for energy if neither carbs nor dietary fat are present. When this happens depends on when you eat it in relation to when you work out. Theoretically, you would initially repair the muscle but then when your body realizes it needs more energy to live, it'll start stripping the protein right back out of the muscle and consume both fat and muscle for energy.

Not OP, or even related to this thread, but you just helped me alot. Thanks.

hmm my friend has the same issue he takes protein shakes and such but doesn't eat a whole lot while working out almost every day.

For him he just seems to maintain his weight while becoming stronger, so I would assume hes just replacing fat with muscle.

would eating more calories a day help to pack on more muscles?

Which then means you are not getting 'enough' protein.
