so i need a new pair of lifting shoes - any suggestions? (websites, brands..etc)

Chucks if you want something cheap and somewhat useful. DoWin Rogues or a pair of Adidas weightlifting shoes if you're squatting or doing Olympic lifts.

Depends on your style of squatting.

For wide stance Chuck Tailors are pretty popular and pretty cheap. Go for something in a high top for stability.

For olympic style squatting, you'd want something with a solid raised heel. Any weightlifting shoe would to be pretty good, the downside is that a lot of them are expensive.
