Side aches Anonymous
So whats the cause of side aches when running? And are there any bad consequences of continuing running with a painful side ache?

something about gulping air, or something.

it doesnt hurt anyhting. except you, cause it hurts like a bitch. but it's fine.

BREATH IN THROUGH THE NOSE OUT THROUGH THE MOUTH. TRY TO TAKE FULLER BREATHS. ARE YOU A FORMER SMOKER? THAT MAY HAVE SOMTHING TO DO WITH IT SINCE IT HAPPENED TO ME A LOT UNTIL MY LUNGS HEALED UP A BIT.

I learned this the hard way.

It depends on what you eat/drink before you run. If you eat too much, you will get side pains. If you drink too much, you will get side pains.

People tend to drink some water before they start running but that's why you get cramps. Try not to drink water or eat anything maybe an hour to 2 hours before you run and you should be good.

Accidental sage, my bad.

I heard to exhale while your left foot strikes the ground to prevent side cramps.

build up of lactic acid. Because your cells don't get enough oxygen, they start anaerobic respiration which doesn't require oxygen. It causes a build up of lactic acid though which kills your muscle cells.

Better breathing and going past your limit will help lessen it.

Dude, recommending someone not be hydrated before running is utter nonsense. Drink a little water and you'll get side pains, but they'll be less and less as you get more /fit/. Of course, don't chug a gallon before you run -- then you'll die. But don't fucking go thirsty like this stupid faggot recommends.

HALFWAY THERE, DUDE

Try breathing in when left foot hits AND BREATHE OUT WHEN RIGHT FOOT DOES

Basically, no one really knows why it happens, but it's most likely because the liver is on the right side of the body, and when you breathe off the wrong foot, it stretches out your diaphragm and hurts you baaaad
