oil cleansing method Anonymous
The Oil Cleansing Method is a system for cleaning a human face using oils. Beginners often start out with mixture of half extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and half castor oil (CO). Once experience is gained, the mixture can be tweaked based on skin type and personal preference. Other oils that are commonly used are jojoba oil and coconut oil.

The oil is rubbed into skin for approx. 2 min. Next, a warm, damp washcloth is draped over face until it cools. The cooled washcloth is then used to wipe off excess oil. Continue wiping until the oil is gone. If face feels tight, one or two drops of EVOO or another oil of your choice may be used to moisturize.

Many users have experienced fewer blackheads, softer skin, and less acne.

My face is oily as fuck, and it works. You just have to be more careful. I made the mistake of using oil I left sitting around in the open for a while, allowing it to thicken and I broke out. After doing it properly for a few days it cleared up completely.

Instead of using a damp cloth I like to use my shower to steam my face instead. Just have the hot water going, and direct the flow to the wall while standing in the shower, then use a cloth to wipe the oil off. It works wonders.

SO DO IT DRY YOUR FACE OR MOISTURIZE IT?
WAT THE FUCKING FUCK?

It corrects the balance of oils on the surface of your skin. If you dry out your face too much, your body produces oils in reaction. This leads to a break out. Obviously being too moist will have the same effect.

TL;DR: This system aims for a balance of moisture and dryness.

How expensive is this compared to other alternatives?

Accutane? Enjoy your suicide.

More EVOO for moisture or more CO for cleansing (25/75 EVOO/CO for Oily skin, or 75/25 EVOO/CO for dry skin).

Ratios taken from the Strauss article.

took it during high-school, was acne free the entire period. now i'm 22 and still no acne... and no an hero. If you have so little will-power that accutane tips the balance and causes you to kill yourself, then you probably would have off'd yourself later anyway. Suicide IS the 11th leading cause of death in the US.

I used a high dose of accutane for almost half a year. It dried me out so much I couldn't smile or frown without my lips cracking and bleeding. I still had bad acne while using it and breakouts for years after using it.

This on the other hand worked.

i just dont believe you.

i had accutane, high dose, chapped face & lips. playing HS football in november during this period wasn't fun. however i stopped getting new zits 3 months in & the rest faded with help from topical treatments like retin-a & time. no facial zits since then although i started getting some on my back & ass when those areas started getting hairy, but they were never bad.

if you still have zits after using accutane, you're probably one of the people it made kill themselves, because you realized you were an ugly pizza faced motherfucker who deserved only death.

I don't care if you don't believe me. That's simply what happened. Accutane is by no means a wonder drug that always works.

I'd also like to say that giving myself daily facial massages and hot towel or steam treatments while clearing up the acne in less than a month is much more pleasant than the months of hell taking accutane was.

yes... occasionally breaking out that chapstick and aloe really was hellllish.

Going to try this tonight, thanks OP.

Which didn't do shit. Actually I still have patches of dry scaly skin from the accutane that just won't go away.

Processed oils=cleansing
Natural oils=toxic

I do it, I make a batch up every week depending on how my skin is, if oilyier I add more tea tree and castor oil, if drier more evoo. I steam first(in the shower) to open pores, then rub the oil in for five minutes, then wash it off with nutrogena gentle skin cleanser and a washcloth. Important to get it all off and not to reuse the washcloth. Then I rinse with cold water to close pores. Ta-dow.

sorry, it seems you're part of that tiny percentage that gets fucked.

not to keep pounding on the Accutane drum, but out of the dozen or so people that I know that used Accutane (myself included), it was a freaking miracle. Second best medical thing I did for myself, second only to allergy shots that nearly cleared up my rough allergies.

So, I am in my 30s now, and get the occasional whiteheads and some blackheads. I am going to check this out. It would seem that if you find the right balance doing this, it would only help keep your face looking less old as you age.

Wikipedia was very unhelpful on the subject, but nothing a little google'n didn't fix.

Thanks OP for bringing this to our attention.

i know it sounds impossible, but i've actually tried it and it really works (the oil cleansing method, not peanut butter). i tried just a few drops of castor oil and holy fuck did it dry out my oilslick skin. all i have to do now is add a little extra virgin olive oil to even it out.

>>298985
both. the castor oil cleans everything out while the olive oil moisturizes.

>>299048
only if you rub it into your balls every night.

I've been doing OCM for a while now and I seriously cannot praise it more. I don't even need to wear ANY makeup at all now. It's awesome.
