Deadlift questions

1. When I go down to deadlift I start seeing little stars. Is this normal? Do I need to do more cardio? It's a little unnerving. Like little specs of light in my vision.

2. How can one do deadlifts without your fingers feeling like they're going to come off? I'm tall and skinny with long fingers so that might be it, but it's still sorta painful. I'm lifting around 225 now.

same guy from before.
for question 2, when you deadlift do you use a mixed grip?
>> Anonymous
2. chalk will help your grip.

Take a deeper breath, and if you're not resting enough in between sets, you should start longer rests. If you're doing a strength program, 2-4 minutes is typical in between sets.

The answer is to not be a bitch, and deadlift more weight.

No, stars usually happen during the lifts and just after, although on the 3rd to 5th sets (I do 5x5) I'll see them as soon as I bend over.

First set I'm usually good.

Um, I'm using both hand overhanded, no mixed grip.

How so? It's my fingers and the tendons that hurt, not the skin.

Also chalk isnt allowed in my gym

>"If you're not seeing stars, it's not heavy enough"

True that

>Use wraps. They cost like $6 and lighten the load on your fingers by transfering some of the weight to your wrists and forearms. Most every heavy lifter uses them.

Pussies, real men have strong fingers

5 reps for one set? why?

can really overload your back. though some of /fit/ will disagree and go HURR NOT HARDCORE ENUFF. if you do 5x5 don't go that heavy. 1x5 lets you go all out.

well my main goal is as hardcore mass gaining as possible. I do my back workouts on thursdays of each week so a week for my back to recover

Light specks in your field of vision is a blood pressure issue...

If you're doing squats before then 5x5 isn't needed 1x5 is fine, lets you go all out.

1. the stars are normal

2. keep doing deadlifts, your fingers will get tougher

why always 1x5 or 5x5?

why not 5x1 or even 25x1 w/ the same equivalent weights pulled perfectly each rep?
>> Anonymous
>>306540
that is the program

25x1 won't create that much tension you need unless you do it continuously, but that would just mean that you are doing 1x25reps which you wont be able to hit the 5x5 weight

o i forgot, /fit/ drinks nothing but the stronglifts koolaid.

can you read?

<<same equivalent weights

whatever you were pulling per rep for the 5x5 pull for the 25x1.

average neural drive and peak power for the later would be significantly higher than the former. PLUS one's form would also not have that last 'questionable' rep per set where the lifter stiff legs it up/round back's it.

refute that
