Sup /fit/. I need to drop a little weight. I do some moderate weightlifting, but I need some light cardio to slim down. I don't really like running, and walking might be too low impact, so I was thinking of some alternatives.

I thought about maybe jumping rope? I have a jump rope with weighted handles and I can jump rope pretty good (not speed roping like boxers, but at a quick pace), so I was wondering if that would do for some light cardio? It would also help with my footwork and agility for Baseball (not that you need much agility for that, but the footwork would help a lot).

Your opinions?

yeah sure. go down your local school yard and play jump rope with all the little girlys.

You know what would help actually help you in baseball? Running. Stop being a pansy and work at it you lazy fuck.

Fuck man, you can walk an hour at a constant decent speed (4mph), and you'll burn 400+ calories.

If you aren't here to help, stfu

I don't see what part of jumping rope will specifically help with baseball.

For how many minutes are you able to jump rope?

What do you mean "walking might be too low impact?" High impact means your joints get pounded on which is exactly what will happen when you jump rope.

If I knew what you were talking about, I'd say more. But. Go swim. Swimming and running will help you drop weight.

Swimming uses less calories than you would use supporting your own bodyweight. Jog, run, and walk instead.

Buy yourself a $30 punching bag and go to town.

Eat the jump rope. The negative calories alone will get you up to speed.

Foot-eye and hand-eye coordination, shoulder strength/endurance, and foot coordination/agility for burst and sustained actions. Also, you can do certain jumps to work on obliques; an absolute requirement for baseball.

Before everyone on /fit/ is discovered as an insecure /fat/ttie, maybe you should think first?

but you're moving through a substance denser than air.

It has to at least equate.

Swimming provides a workout for most of your body and kind of forces you to work hard if you don't want to drown. Too much swimming will result in brittle bones.

HOLY CRAP. do you REALLY believe that?

jump rope is great cardio- i've read it's 2-3 times more effective than running per unit time spent exercising, and is lower impact

Floating uses less calories than you would use supporting your own bodyweight. Jog, run, and walk instead.
