What's the verdict on fish oil?
Another over hyped supplement?
I don't eat fish very often, eat some can tuna every now and then.
If it is worth while is there a brand I should get? Due to toxicity I heard I should tracked down ones claiming to be purified.

equazen.com. A little more expensive but they make me feel good and alert. Only fish oil pill that I know of that's had studies done with children to improve brain function during school work too. Check it out.

So whats everyone's thoughts on liquid form vs pill? also do brands matter?

do you think they put some super secret ingredient in there that makes it differ from other fish oil supps?

pills are cheaper when comparing equal dosages.

Go buy the cheap kind, other people add one or two things and give it a new name and price. For example, flameout by biotest may be badass but compared to some nature's own fish oil caps it only has one different ingredient. The difference in price is in the amount of pills you have to take and the smell (which doesn't get on your breath). I was taking like six at a time (nature's own reg. dose, be wise with vitamins) when I was ground pounding with boots on in training but my friend only took like three and it made his horrible knees feel badass but only when he took it. Glucosamine is one of preventive joint things and is about four times the price. Go get some cheap shit, use the dosage for what you're doing. If you're not running a lot or marching with a heavy pack you probably won't notice a difference. Knees and ankles are the most obvious joint problems because they affect walking but even if you have some shoulder issues or wrists or whatever you could definitely give it a go.

"fish oil" also gives you the fatty acids you dont get from chicken or beef. Most shit isnt grass fed anymore, and thats where the animal gets its o3/6/9 from..so take that shit! 3 pills a day or 1 tablespoon of liquid (if you can stand the taste) some people even do both.

I've noticed I generally feel better while taking fish oil regularly. Even if it's just a silly placebo effect tricking me into feeling better it's so cheap that it's almost worth it anyway.

my bacne cleared up alot after i started taking fish oil.
coincidence? maybe, but who knows.

i take 12g a day all at once.

I take 1-2 every meal and 2 after every work out, went a month without it and seemed to gain a bit more fat while bulking than usual

also, joints do feels better when running and like>>349179i really just feel better when taking fish oil.

Great advice guys, only reason that I asked if there was a better kind was because a lot of fish have high levels of toxicity.
Some brands of fish oils are purified while others aren't.

fish oil is amazing, i bought 10 bottles of this stuff and take 4 tsp of it a day ~ 6400mg of omega-3

People are more enthusiastic about this than I would have thought.
More then the placebo effect going on here?

i have noticed a difference in soreness, particularly in my shoulder and feet after training

i used to get real bad shoulder pain after doing push presses or thrusters but after doing a lot of turkish get-ups and fish oil the problem is non-existent

my feet always used to hurt after running or lifting a lot of reps, don't know if they got stronger but the pain has definitely subsided more after taking fish oil

sounds awesome, and if its cheap why not give it a try!

FUCK YEAH FISH OIL!

FISH OIL IS NOW A NEW MEME!!!
>> Anonymous
Fish oil makes me lol.

They still haven't figured out how much to go toxic on it. I see nothing wrong with getting your EFAs through natural sources, but jamming down fistfuls of this shit is nuts. Vitamins are more or less a complete rip off and are just a great business right now.

Just wiki it, there is lots of info about where to get this stuff. Fish (obviously), flax, vegetable oils, eggs, etc.

i understand getting omega-3's from whole sources like fish, eggs, grassfed meats, etc. is a lot better but when you need 3-4g a day to help keep your body in stasis it's fucking hard to get that much omega-3 everyday from whole food sources.

I used to take it every day and stopped because I heard it can give you gas (recently had colon surgery, so a fart can easily turn into a pants shitting episode for me). I don't feel any worse. Gas might be a little improved.

Or not.

The only supplements which noticeably affect me are ZMA and B-vitamins.

Eat a dick.

Anyways, I love fish oil because the omega 3s encourage lubrication of my eyes. They're just a good fatty acid, and something in Muscular Development was talking about a "combination oil" that would help lower bad cholesterol and raise testosterone levels too. I need to read up more on it, but it talks about olive oil and some of the fatty acids found in beef.

Humans didn't need all that much on the road of evolution. Unnecessary.

I get all my needed nutrients right from food, none of these concentrated stuff.
>> Anonymous
Helps me concentrate I feel, also I just generally feel more chipper.

I do try to eat fish regularly though

Less QQ. Take your fish oil.

any danger taking in excess of 15 soft gel caps a day? i bought the cheapest brand with the lowest dosage.
>> Anonymous
Drink the refrigerated liquid bottle version, its better. Who the fuck would eat from a fish that's been sitting at room temp for months?

smelling like a retard that eats fish all day and then shits his pants with it.

> If it is worth while is there a brand I should get? Due to toxicity I heard I should tracked down ones claiming to be purified.
buy a brand that has no cholesterol in it. it kinda defeats the purpose
>> Anonymous
>>350084
you want the good cholesterol though

>>350117
your body makes the good cholesterol, you can't ingest it to increase your levels.

any word if apple cider vinegar supplements really help your metabolism? i saw some at kmart and wondered
>> Anonymous
ok, most idiots will fight me on this,

but you GET what you PAY for

why fuck around with something that could have serious toxicity issues from cheap product?

the 2 brands to buy
if you want pills-->biotest's flameout, nordic naturals, etc
if you want drink (cheaper per unit) -->Carlson's liquid

that is all. and if this is 'expensive' its because YOU lack the education and is demonstrated by your 'perceived value'.

benefit of fishoil are greater than we yet realize. 1-2 dollars a day is nothing for a quality product like this, especially to a lifter, where A. heart health and B. joint health and C. insulin sensitivity realllly count

You can buy that shit cheaper by the litre
Or at least in europe (Lidl lol)

>Humans didn't need all that much on the road of evolution

Your right, yet that does not validate the point that we are better off without supplements.

In some old civilizations where there were big gaps in class, and the richer people had access to better food there be a foot difference between the peasants and the kings.

Better nutrition leads to better health, I find certain supplements to be about maximizing your own physical potential.

Awesome, basically the only person that paid attention to my post so far as me wondering about quality and usage.
