yes but to run barefooted you must have pretty food strength, stamina and experience in running, anyway unless you run >10km normaly, running barefooted would be uncalled for. as for why asics are often brought up, its because the damn well deserve it, they make nice, cheap shoes and its sport oriented so there is no bulshit like in Nike "we r makin teh supa shoes its supa awesome for runnin, althou most of them cushioning and proper pronation, and we do not give any specific for them so you figure it out for yourself, but we charge you twice as much so we must be good, yarr" althou i buy nike shoes when i go for looks and not training...
