What do you guys think about having a cup of coffee 30 minutes before a work out? I'm dog tired today and probably won't find the energy to lift if I don't get a caffeine boost. I'm not a regular coffee or tea drinker but I just need something to pick me up.

Anything wrong with this? Any of you do this?

Nothing wrong with it. If you take it too often though then the effects of it will weaken. Every once in a while when u need it is a good idea

Coffee is a diuretic, so keep that in mind.

Is that why it makes me shit like crazy?

i never liked training when i was tired, but that rarely happens anymore.

i do remember training when i wasn't into it 100% and it hurt my confidence a lot, enough to put me down for almost a week with mental issues. it was partial fatigue and partial concentration i was lacking.

i wouldn't suggest training when tired because this could happen, just take the day off in my opinion.

OP Here, I'm not exactly on a good schedule, but I am trying to get on one this week. I don't want to delay it until tomorrow =\

Also would a nap be better?

coffee isn't bad, a lot of people do need a jump start with caffeine. as the other poster said, just don't rely on it too heavily as you will depend on it which is never a good thing.

apparently i did cheer up, took a week but i was back in full force.

you'll understand what i mean when you put 95% of your time into something and then end up not getting back what you wanted. i call it epic burnout

i have plenty of experience with failures but i never cried about them. Just accept them and move on.

i get failures all the time, but nothing of that magnitude.

everyone is different and deals with stuff differently. i'm sure other people would've bounced back the next day, but i kept questioning myself and my motives, and wondering if i just trained 300 hours in the last 8 months was worth it.

eventually i opened up my favorite book, "Kiss or Kill: Confessions of a Serial Climber" and was cured.

now i'm stronger, mentally and physically. i'm still glad that happened to me soon, because it wasn't as crucial as it would've been 5 years down the road.

They say that for every cup of coffee you drink, you lose a cup of water. Other than that though, there's nothing wrong with coffee.
