Mostly free-weights and some machines.

I like Free weights barbells, dumbbells because it forces you to engage the whole body into working out while doing compound exercises such as bench press, squats, deadlifts, rows, arnold presses.

I used to do a lot of work on machines but it got boring after few weeks of doing same shit over. I still do some machines but only after those exhausting compounds.

free weights = manly man
machine weights = sissy boy

recruits all the muscles in the area
vs. the machine doing a lot of the work for you to target a specific area.

usually use the gross ones, then target afterwards. it felt retarded to use machines first after 2 wks away from weight lifting, i needed *everything* to warm up first.

freeweights are good for an all around workout and for people that dont have too much time to devote to lifting, but if you want to perfect you body muscle by muscle then you do it the way the professionals do, with machines

Machines have their place in just about every work out routine, but you should stay true to free weights. Only one out of every maybe 5 or 6 exercises should be machine.
