ITT: What we learned at the gym today

I learned that doing deadlifts and doing squats in the same day is a bad idea.

Don't do lower back exercises and squats on the same day. Walking upright is now a real hassle.

n00b mistake, i know.

I do stiff legged deadlifts with my squats

it's easier but still hits most of the same spots

I learned that I've been doing reverse curls entirely wrong.

Yeah, I just told someone earlier today that doing legs and back on the same day is a bad idea. Mainly because they are the two largest muscle groups in the body, and you'll wear out really fast (might overtrain or neglect other muscles).

But squats and deadlifts in the same day? I don't envy you.

yeah, you'd think i'd have realized that hey, you need your lower back to be good to go when you do squats since that's what is supporting your freaking torso during all of this, but hey, i was just set on doing deadlifts because i wanted to include them into my workout. i think i'll move them to my chest/back days instead.

i then proceeded to try and go through my forms in tae kwon do but spent most of the time laying down on the mat because staying upright was such a hassle.

Stiff-legged DLs are nothing like regular DLs. I do 335 for 12's for regular deadlift (which is compound exercise) and 135 for 15's for the stiff-legged version; which happens to be a isolation exercise that focuses soley on the hamstrings. It's actually a perfect exercise to compliment the squat (as it hits the quads and gluts more).
