What's better, doing one body part per day of the week or doing half your lifts one day, rest, do second half repeat?

Like:
monday: chest
tuesday: legs
thursday: back
friday: shoulders/arms

or:
tues/thurs: back and chest
mon and fri: arms and legs

or something like that
