Dear /fit/,
It's my first time posting here, so you'll have to excuse me for any faggotry I may include.

I'm 5'10".

Last year I was about 220lbs. Officially obese, if any of the BMI calculators online have anything to say about it. So I cut out soda/cola/pop/coke. That was it at first. Went okay after I got through the initial caffeine withdrawl issues. I also stopped eating at Wendy's for lunch everyday and went to Subway instead. You can get something decently healthy for you there.

After a few months of that I decided I needed to eat entirely healthy. Well, at least non-fattening. So I started getting food that wasn't ridiculously high in fat content or empty calories. Some fruits (grapples are awesome by the way), baked chips (in the vending machine sizes, good for portion control), lean cuisines, vegan burger patties, etc, etc. Oh, and also the Red Baron Frenchbread pizza things. Not the best for me, but you know, can't be all good.

After about half a year or more of that I was down to about 205-210 (don't remember exactly).

2008 comes around and I decide that it's time for my lazy ass to exercise. So I start off with jogging a mile and a half 6 days a week. The first week of that was fucking terrible, let me tell you. For someone who hadn't exercised in about 2-3 years, maybe more, my legs were dead after the first day of jogging. Luckily I had been somewhat athletic before becoming a complete slob so I did remember to stretch before and after. But still. Getting out to jog the next day was pretty bad. Did it though, and just kept going until it didn't really hurt or get too sore. Increased the distance to about 2-3 miles.

I don't run everyday now, but 2-3 times a week at least. I'm thinking of getting back into the 6 days a week thing again though.

Anyway, I just weighed myself this morning and I'm now sitting at 186lbs. Still slightly overweight going by the online BMI calculators and crap, but much closer to healthy.

My target weight is somewhere in the high 160s/low 170s.

Just felt like I'd share with you guys. No specific diet or exercise routine but I have managed to lose weight. I'm looking for before/after pictures, but I didn't/don't really take many pictures of myself. The OP is at the beginning of the year before exercise, and I'll take one in a few minutes here. I've always been shy of my body as is, so I'm not posting any of that. Deal with it, as if you'd want to see it anyway.

tl;dr I lost about 40lbs with no specific weight loss program.

Good job, keep it up. Thats basically as far as my weight control and fitness goes - except for doing weights at the gym. Im on the other end of the spectrum and eating right and lifting is helping me gain muscle weight! Keep up the work

WAY TO GO OP!!!! CONGRATS!

congrats! that's really one of the best ways to lose weight IMO - taking it in stages. it's much easier to stick to than switching out your entire fridge to nothing but chicken and veggies in 1 day.

Also, here's today. I guess it's not as easy to tell from shitty webcam pictures, that and I don't really feel all that different, but whatever.

Yeah I can jog and walk farther without getting tired, but I still don't see a ridiculous difference. Maybe a smaller amount of pudge in the stomach area than before, but it's still there. 10lbs more won't remove that.
