Does anyone that own a bowflex can confirm they are worth the money?

About 1/4 the cost, same effectiveness.

power rack + barbell+ bench= better

all you need and much more effective, same price or, more likely, less.

bowflex gets you more leaner
free wieghts will get you more bulkier

english makes you more spelling-er

free weights are cheaper, more flexible, take up less space.

also, once you max out the bow flex, it'll be the most expensive clothes hanger in your house

Bullshit.Becoming lean is mostly a function of your diet and the amount of calories you put out and take in (and gaining bulk and being "lean" are not mutally exclusive). If you want to become lean, simply consume less calories than what you burn.
This can easily be achieved with just free weights and a good diet and if you want to burn extra calories you can just run, rather than using a pointless machine.

I'm OP, I'm thinking about getting it just to have a build like the guy in pic. I have a bench, but no one to spot me so I can't really put a lot of weight on. Same thing with power rack for squatting.

TL;DR is it worth 800-2,000 or should I just get a gym membership?

thanks

if no spotter, use 2 dumbells to bench press that way you wont hurt yourself if you drop them.

duh.

recently got a gym membership and went from 205 to 194 in about 4 weeks. the thing you need to worry about is what you eat. never eat anything that has hydrogenated oils or big amounts of saturated fat (although your body does need some of everything). i used to weigh like 185 before i met my whale ex-gf and then i went to 225. i ate salmon, fruit, chicken and drank lots of water when i was in shape.

I'm 140 5'9 right now, and I want to get 160-180. I know it's going to take a while... as for diet the fat you can take is half your weight per day right? like 70G of fat for me.

That sounds about right. You should also consume 1g of protein per pound of body weight per day if you are hardcore training.

I hate a friend who worked on his for a year and got pretty ripped, but really its just an issue of using exercising in general, i think alot of people just dont know which and what routines to go through w/free weights.
