What branch? I'm in Airforce ROTC at the moment.
Anyways, since you weight omfg 250lbs, if you have a bike I suggest bicycling for a long time on it. Don't quit, you might lose hope once your legs get tired, but you can keep going, believe me.
Once you shed some weight, and you think you can run without killing your joints from your weight, buy some comfy running shoes and start jogging about a mile at first and build up your distance over time.
In ROTC we have to run 1.5 miles within a certain time, and for "fun" we run 3 miles. So be prepared for that.
Also you will probably have a certain amount of pushups/situps/etc.. you need to do.
Get up in the morning and do however many pushups you can do before you get tired. Then do more at lunch, and dinner.
