You should put on weight before you lose it. Doing both at the same time will pretty much have no results.
Easiest way to put on muscle is to do the big compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, benchpress, military press), and cutting fat is mainly done by high intensity cardio (running, etc.).
As far as diets go, high protein high carbs whilst you are trying to bulk, and high protein low carbs whilst you are trying to cut.
Gatorade is sugar capitol. I'd avoid it.
