I've been using a chest expander recently but every time I do I get pains in my right shoulder and sometimes elbow. The pain usually lasts about half a day.

I typically hold the handles with my arms parallel to the floor, and then pull until the springs are stretched across my chest, then slowly release and repeat. What am I doing wrong?
