How does this look to you /fit/?
The side of my toe is kind of swollen, it hurts when I apply pressure on it, like when I want to walk... It looks kind of yellow.

You probably have an ingrown toenail, and the yellowing is just the hardened callouses. Either go see a podiatrist or try and dig the ingrown part of the nail out yourself with a strong hobby knife. It doesn't hurt THAT much to dig it out, and it will bleed a fair bit, but once you've ripped off the ingrown part off, you'll be free for a few months.

To get it properly fixed, your podiatrist will basically do a surgical procedure that involves cutting out the entire sides of the nail to the roots using local anaesthetic.

Also, change your shoes to a size larger. Most ingrown nails happen because toe spaces are cramped in shoes.

Take it from me, the longer you leave it, the worse. I had an ingrown toenail and decided to ignore it, now i dont have a nail on my big left toe. It had curled so much into my foot that trimming the sides wasnt an option so they lopped the whole nail off. Injection was one of the most painful things i've had, and i needed several of them to take effect. You get a 2-5 days off school/work and 8 weeks healing which means no running or exercise, basically no pressure on the foot.

Get it seen to asap.

It's been like this for four days now, It's really gross.
I'll try cutting the nail my self but I doubt that'll really help.

Thanks.

Happened to me a few times, the first time it happened, I ignored it for a month, then wen't and got a pediatrist to cut it out... for $500. When it happened again I took care of it myself, its not that bad, and I haven't had any problems for about half a year now, so as long as you get the whole thing out, and disinfect properly, you can save youself a fair bit of money by doing it yourself.

You can try taking 2 tylenol, and 2 ibprofen beforehand, but it didn't realy help when I did it.

Try 1/2 bottle of vodka and get a friend to do it imo. OTC meds are pretty shit unless you are in USA and can get DXM. I got punched in the face while under a very large does of codeine (extracted), still hurt like hell.

Get drunk and get a friend to do it = winrar

Truth. If you're in a situation where you can get your doctor to take care of it quickly and without a hassle, do that. Otherwise, if it's really pissing you off or it takes too long to get a doctor's appointment, dig it out yourself.

Basically, it's when the side of the nail grows too deep into the surrounding tissue. I suggest sliding a tweezer or knife underneath the extra bit to expose it, then tear it out. It WILL hurt, but even if you botch it, it will feel infinitely better the next day.
