Get about 2/3 cup of water. Add frozen blueberries strawberries or what ever berries to fill up to the 1 cup line. Then blend.
Use that mixture as your base to cook your oats.
Trust me it's awesome.

Supplement your oatmeal with flaxseed.
Whole seeds, not ground. Ground is fucking disgusting.

Whole flax seeds are extremely difficult to digest by the body. Thus causing them to pass through the body with out passing on to the body any of it's beneficial fats, vitamins, and minerals.
Do your self a favor and buy them ground, or grind them your self.
Eating them whole is almost the same as not eating them at all.

the way i cook it, just boil milk and then throw a half bowl of oats, leave it about 3 minutes, and add sugar afterward.

Well that's a darn fucking shame, but then I thought..

The ground flaxseed I tried was fucking disgusting. The whole seeds I use taste good. Almost good enough to eat on its own. Maybe grinding it on demand with a pepper grinder right before serving tastes good.

Ohh man, I'm gonna go fill my empty pepper mill with whole flax seeds right now.

If it had been ground any real length of time previous to consumption, and not kept airtight and cold in the interim, they were almost certainly rancid.

I much prefer steel cut oats as well but I hate and suck ass at cooking. FYI if you have a rice cooker those (well, mine) prepare them really nicely. Use the porridge setting on your zojirushi. 1 part steel cut oats to 2.5 parts water.
