Pull ups work every upper body muscle for swimming.
Chin ups work almost 0 upper body muscles for swimming. They are the bitch version in swimming terms.
Dead bugs are uhh... Lay on your back, holding the six inches position with one leg at 6 inches, and the other leg as far up as you can bring it in almost a pike type deal...
Sort of like a paused, over exaggerated flutter kick.
What to do with your arms: If your right leg is down in 6 inches, you're going to do your left arm in an obtuse angle. You should always be opposite.
If your left arm is down, your right leg needs to be up. It's kind of hard to explain, but just do like 30 of those, slowly, with a 2 second pause in between each one... and you'll get a decent core ASAP
