Need some help, /fit./ Anonymous
Two-part question.
I'm looking to try and get started with parkour. Most of the articles I've read don't give a whole lot on how to get started, however. Not many training regiments, or exercises, or anything. I know I need to maximize my jumping, my climbing, and my balance. But what's a good way to do this?
Thanks, fit.

Part 2: I and a friend are also looking to harden our bodies physically, for martial arts. I know about doing squats while holding a log, sparring on top of poles, and hardening the fist bones by punching sand, then gravel, then eventually wood. Does anyone know any other good ways to improve pain tolerance and all this good stuff?

Thanks again /fit/, you is the best board on 4chan.

basically you want explosive power and balance. Do them clapping pushups, stretching, and do some yoga balancing things + hand stands. Now that set.. really the only way to get started and get better is to do shit. The nice thing about parkour is that it can be done anywhere... if there are woods, practice just running as straight as possible jumping and avoiding obstacles. For a more urban environment do the same... thats all there is to it. Its not complex an art.

Man I'm so tired of hearing parkour shit that I'm convinced it's an elaborate troll or meme that I'm not aware of

I wish I had a friend to do parkour with. My friend was going to do it with me but unfortunately he signed up for the army so now he is Uncle Sam's bitch. To increase your vertical jump 'chest kick's will do wonders. I'm pretty sure thats not a technical term for them. What you do is stand straight, jump, and try to get your knees to touch your chest while keeping your back straight and staying in the same place. They'll do wonders for your jumping skills and can hurt like hell after a minute or so (well depends on how in shape you are).

problem with parkour is like...

well ill say this. A beginner in skateboarding can ride around and ollie and maybe kickflip or shuvit. The point is, at the end of the day he can just fall back on the fact that he got around quicker while working less, whether he sucks or not. What does parkour have? Its like...extreme biking, extreme skateboarding, and parkour is extreme...running? What does that get you as a beginner?

TL;DR

newbie free runners are just SAD. Definately the lamest looking sport if you arent doing shit thats intense.
