/fit/,

Is popping your knuckles/other joints bad for you? Will it give you arthritis? I was always told not to do it, but don't know why.

Pic unrelated and random

Doctor once told me that it wears out the cushioning in between your bones ( im an idiot, i dont know what they are called). I guess this could be a problem when you are old

people said you're more likely to get it but doesn't cause it./

I find that if I excessively do it, my joints feel weaker

popping your knuckles involves an overstretching of your tendons in the area.
Do it too often and your tendons will lose tension.

Popping your knuckles is bad for the ligaments holding the joints together. The pop is actually the vacuum bubble being created when you separate your knuckle joints. The bubble of course disappears when you release them but the ligament damage will be permanent if you keep doing it.
