What's the most painful thing you have ever felt?

I've never felt anything too excruciating, I'm lucky.

Years ago, I had burned my right hand from hot oil. Excruciating pain and a swollen hand followed for about a week.

I've had several cuts (including one that cut halfway through my middle finger on my left hand) but those don't even compare to the burn.

I broke my wrist, and had to sit for hours while waiting on my mom to get off work because the lady in the office thought I had just sprained it.

I hated her after that, forever. This was like, 4th grade though. I barely remember the actual pain at this point

As far as I know, it's really hard to remember excruciating pain, considering the human body is made to forget overly painful experiences eventually.

There's also no limit to pain, meaning you can be in immense pain already but it's still possible for the pain to be tripled.

I guess, my most painful experience was when I got hit by a car. I didn't really feel anything just then, but a couple hours later I thought my legs were about to fall off. I was in so much pain I passed out and puked all over myself constantly.

The other time I got cuts in my face stitched without anesthesia. My mom said I screamed so loud and hard my entire body froze and I got a double inguinal hernia. I can't remember that moment anymore, to be honest. I was 6 or 7 back then.

I heard that a ruptured colon is the worst pain possible.

Cuts, especially clean cuts, are generally pretty low on the pain meter.

Burns are probably the most immediately painful, though the pain fades faster than many other injuries. Many of the worst torture techniques play off of this (eg. hot needles pushed under the fingernails [nazi technique]).

I've had a few minor burns (fingers), but that's about all. The most pain I've felt was probably just when I fractured my foot. It was hard to keep my muscles relaxed, so whenever any of them tensed it would cause a burst of pain.

I've had some pretty good run-ins with pavement while biking, one wipeout took my knee months to heal, even about six weeks just for the skin. That was probably as painful as the fractured foot, though I didn't have to deal with the spasm pain afterwards.

Ah yeah, then in like 5th grade I got my foot ran over and walked it off.. well I sat for like 2 hours, again waiting on my mom. I was so afraid I'd be in trouble because I was ALWAYS hurting myself. Like when I was walking on a log and slipped and busted my head open on some ironshore, probably should have went to the emergency room but me and my friends held it closed with shit loads of paper towels till it dried, then I went home and washed the blood out of my hair.

To this day I still think I broke a bone from the car, I'll sometimes get pains in the foot for no apparent reason

Damn again I'm reminded of another painful experience. Jesus I fucked myself up as a kid.

I remember getting pushed on the swing in probably 4th or 5th grade, AGAIN after school waiting on my mom, and getting launched out and landing on my knee busting it open.

I remember being able to see my bone or cartilage, whatever it was it was it was white. I have a huge scar on my knee from the stitches

Oh, crap. Ouch.
I'm kind of a klutz, really. So I happen to hurt myself an awful lot as well.
It's not that bad, though, because I'm forgetful as well. I forget pain easily and very fast.

I think pain is relative anyway, and different people experience it differently.

I'm NOT looking forward to giving birth.

Migraines.
Don't get them so much anymore, but they hurt so damn much. The least painful migraine I've ever had is a lot worse than anything else I've felt.
Whenever I get a migraine, it's past the point of screaming, I just can't do anything, except puke from the pain. Also it makes me partially blind for the duration, I get what sort of looks like multicoloured cracks across all my vision.
Truly horrid stuff

Hmm, 2 years ago I fell of my horse at a handgallop, over her shoulder. She then proceeded to run over me, breaking my helmet and bruising the living hell out of my knee and hip. Black like you wouldn't believe. I was actually able to get up and catch her too, she didn't run far.
Either that, or getting kicked in the face in soccer. I'm a goalie, I was on the ground with the ball, and my face was where the ball had been a second earlier, as their best forward went to kick it. Never broke anything, bu I played through the last 20 minutes of the game in a daze, and the ride home. And I still didn't let any goals in, the game ended up being 3-0.

Nah I'm pretty certain they're just really bad migraines, I was getting them up to twice a week from ages 13 - 16, and now I only get them when my body is under extreme amounts of stress such as fatigue. I'm pretty sure that the reason I used to get them so much when I was younger is because of growth hormones or something.

Went snow skiing once . . . and only once.
I hit a tree and broke some ribs and a few vertebral processes. No permanent damage except I can't feel my left buttcheek, but my aunt and uncle didn't believe that I was that badly hurt, so I laid around for 2 days in excruciating pain before they decided to take me to the emergency room. Turns out . . . they were wrong.
Insane pain for the first few days, then just painful for a few months.

when I was 14, I was sitting on my bed watching TV when I felt a sudden and sharp pain in my left testicle. When I had a look at what was going on, I saw that the left side of my testes had swollen considerably. The pain was so intense and continued for so long I ended up vomiting a couple times before it was over.

I went to the doctor (would have gone to hospital immediately if I'd known better) the next day. All they did was prescribe antibiotics, which did nothing for the swelling and the pain had mostly subsided by this time, and ultimately couldn't save my left testicle.

To this day I don't know what illness or injury caused this, but it was the worst pain I'd ever felt, and live in fear of its return to finish the job.

My sister did that what she was 5. My dad had just picked us up from our babysitter, I was around 9 at the time. She was on her bike, racing us back. We weren't going that fast. He handlebars got fucked up. When the handles were straight forward, the wheel was about 20 degrees to the right, and she didn't know what happened. Hit pavement chin first, and my dad carried her the remaining 100 feet home, in hit white military shirt. She screamed like a banshee while getting her chin stitches up.

i get that shit if i get stung by bees. fortunately i moved to the city and there aren't so many of the fuckers here.

when i was 16 i fell off a 35ft bridge and landed on my right arm, that was some intense pain for a few seconds, but then my adrenaline kicked in and i felt fine. when my adrenaline started to wear off the ambulance men gave me morphine and happy-gas, which was also pretty cool.

NOTHING of all the injuries i've ever suffered comes even marginally close to the pain of a dentist's drill catching a nerve inside your tooth. i swear that hurts right the way inside your skull.

Three and a hlf years ago during the third round of a bout I was in trouble. I had already lost five of my bottom teeth and my right eye was swollen shut. When atempting to arm bar my apponent in the third round, he sliped out and stood up and then began to heel stomp me repeditivly. I was unconcious after the 6th stomp, and the ref was trying to pull him off. I found out later if it wasnt for my freind who luckly was a very large heavy weight working my corner. It would have been much worse. All in all My right coller bone was shatterd, the joint that was my right shoulder got destroyed my jaw was broken in three places. Oh and for good measure that nasty goonie stomped me in the boys. When I woke up almost eight minuets later on a streature, I thought I was dying. Literaly. Three sugerys, a metal plats in my shoulder, a bar holding five of my teeth in, and these cool swiss developed screws that desolve instead of having to be removed holding my jaw together. It was of to physical theropy. That hurt even WORSE. Six months later I was training again. I'll never be able to train or compete at that level again, but it will never stop me from learning, teaching and provign the efficancy of the teqnics.

Broke both bones in my left forearm falling off a bike. Broke as in both bones were snapped in half and a bone was sticking out of my arm. I waited in the emergency room for 4 hours waiting for surgery because I had just eaten before the accident. Moving my rubber arm around for x-rays was ridiculous. My forearm actually had a "U" shaped curve through it, and I think that's what got me the most about it.

I've been pretty lucky so far, nothing as serious as many of these stories.

4th grade, I fell 5 feet up from a playground and face-planted, literally hit the ground with my face first, into gravel. The school nurse spent half an hour trying to pick gravel bits out my raw, bleeding face. Then came the disinfectant, and it felt like my face was on fire. I had to go through the re-bandage and disinfect cycle every day for a week.

I still have the picture taken the day after it happened. One across the bridge of my nose, two on my right cheek, a big patch right on my jaw, one bandage on the lower right side of my jaw, and a large patch on my forehead. And my face is nice and puffy too.

When I was around 13(?), I made a make-shift ramp out of a bench turned upside down and a sheet of plywood. I did a good couple of jumps, some over my brother and whatnot. Anyway, near the end of the day, I decided I was going to take off my hands and my feet of the bike in the air.

When I was about 12, I needed reconstructive foot surgery. This was very complicated stuff, like a 5 hour operation. In the end when I woke up, I was numb from the knee down and many of the bones in my foot were held together with staples.

Well, due to a poor choice of local anesthetic, when it started to wear off, I started to have severe muscle spasms. My foot was still held together with staples, and it was strapped into a brace. My calf muscles would spasm and mash my foot down onto the brace, or pull up away from it. This lasted for about an hour while the local wore off. Afterwards they had to go back in and repair the damage that was done. I passed out 2-3 times or so.

Runner-up is the time I was climbing a mountain and my friend pushed me off a ledge while horsing around as we hiked up the foothills. Only fell like 6 feet, but I fell on a rock and dislocated my shoulder. But for some damned reason I thought I'd just go ahead and keep climbing anyways. Taking my shirt off after we got back, and the resulting realization that a trip to the hospital was in order ranks up there with those muscle spasms.

Protip: if you dislocate your shoulder, GO TO THE HOSPITAL. It will probably feel alright and be mostly functional once you pop it back in, but 97% of the time there will be damage done that will require surgery. Go through the hassle, or later on in life it will never feel right again. And you'll be much more likely later on down the line to dislocate that shoulder again.

had a pen bomb go off in my hand along with some pepper spray and mace in my face at the same time. third degree burns on my hand, couldn't see for a couple days

dropped a weight on my big toe once, started growing in weird so a week later i woke up in the middle of the night and half asleep got some pliers and ripped it off. THAT woke me up.

worst injury i've gotten though didn't really hurt that much, comparatively. Got hit in the head with a baseball at point blank range, fractured my skull and gave me a subdural cerebral hemorrhages. Had memory loss and loss of motor function for about a month. Couldn't speak right either, i'd keep forgetting words.

other than that, i've gotten hurt a LOT but in terms of searing agony, i dunno. pouring vodka on open wounds and abrasions kind of hurts. a lot.

Skateboard accident knocked out a tooth and cut my lip. Face planted off a ramp.

Bike accident tore a chunk of my knee, that hurt.

Jumped up and slapped a street sign, on the way down finger caught the screw and tore the tip off, hurt like fuck and bled, but tip is still there.

Had a picture frame fall on my ankle and tear our a huge chunk (big ass picture frame, wall mounted)

But I think the most pain I was ever in was from a combination of heat stroke + exhaustion + dehydration after playing (and winning!) an epic tennis match in High School (we won the championship that year, so worth it). It was just this intense feeling of hurt everywhere. I was lightheaded, dizzy, cramping, throwing up. It was the only time I ever groaned/moaned in pain.

Though that also reminds, once playing doubles tennis, on a very very cold day, I turned to see why my partner hadn't served and the ball hit my right in the temple. I dropped like a rock, vision went for a minute (scared the shit out of me). Had an intense headache for hours and a mild headache all the next day.

Most of my accidents don't come close to what some people have gone through but my tolerence for pain is very little so what may be easy for someone else I'm in massive pain. Figures.

I remember I fell off my mom's bed when I was about5 or so. I ended up hitting my shoulder blade just right to crack it. I bet I ended up screaming so everyone in the apartments could hear me. I ended up with shoulder guards and I looked like a little football player.

This one isn't bad either but it was an accident. I was going down a little slope with snow. Well the Snow Plow man had already come by so at the bottom was like a ramp. I went off the ramp wrong and hit my head on a patch of ice on the road. I scraped my temple and I remember blacking out for a couple of seconds. Mom made me all nervous because she said if I hit it hard enough I could have died. Yikes.

Went to the dentist to get a tooth removed, long story. Anyways the local anesthetic didn't take away the pain from pressure. The doctor was on the seat trying to pull the tooth out. Jesus Christ what a sight to behold. That hurt like a bitch.

On a camping trip when I was about 13(?) I was in a cabin with some friends playing tag in the dark. In this cabin were bunk beds that reached up to the second floor of the cabin. Well, I was on the second floor and was running from the person who was "It" and decided I'd swing down off the support bar of the bunk bed (they looked like this |-|). SO, i went over the side of the second floor banister, got my hand on the support rod (the | of the bed). It didn't have a rubber cap on the top, so instead of swinging around it, it bored straight through my palm, suspending my 3 feet above ground by a metal pipe through my hand.

I freaked out at first. I had drilled a hole in my hand with a piece of bunk bed pipe (that was rusty, might I add).

I got down with the help of my dad and another dad who was there. My dad asked if I wanted to go home, I said no, so he put a piece of gauze on one side of my hand, filled the hole with neosporin, and another piece of gauze to close it up. I was camping for 2 more days.

I am no longer ambidextrous however, but no "real" lasting damage.

I am extremely boring:

Worst for me was probably the annoyance of spilling hot tea over my hand. Shit stung for ages.

Next comes muscle cramps, which I always get when trying to do front crawl swimming (so I never do it, and never get better). I've also had muscle cramps in my jaw from yawning too widely. Luckily I cramp muscles enough that the pain is largely ignorable now, but I remember the first time I got a cramp in my foot. I was like 'WHAT THE FUCK'.

Wow, same thing here. I would get at least one a month from the age of 14 to 19, but in the last few months I havn't had one. Almost to turn 20 and not one migraine for over 5 months. Hoping they are gone.

Multi-colored streaks across your vision when you can actually sortof see, constant puking and inability to move due to the insane pain levels, lasting head/neck pain for a couple days after the headache passes...all this and no doctor I have ever seen can tell me anything. It all started when I was sitting in class and passed out, and went into a mild seizure.

Also, I broke my toe oddly way back in like 9th grade. That wasnt the painful part, the painful part is that now every time I move that toe incorrectly (usually while swimming, or kneeling on the top of my toes) it completely dislocates. Putting it back in is #2 on my pain list.

Went to kick a soccer ball out in my backyard once when I was about 13. Was late at night and I was waiting for one of the dogs to come in. The ball was right in front of this clothesline mount... thing. Just a metal support bracket concreted into the ground that only comes up a couple inches above the dirt. The angle and speed at which my foot connected to this thing, caused my 4th toe (next to smallest) to nearly get cut completely from my foot. There are many varieties of pain. The most painful thing I've felt was when the girl I was in love with told me she was afraid of me, but you probably mean physical so I'll list some of those.

Carving a chunk out of my knuckle with a cheese grater.
Having a doctor use a red hot needle in an attempt to burn through one of my nails that had turned purple (just ignore these, they heal themselves).
Having elbow caught in hinge side of a door.

I've been hit in the balls and burned enough times, but none stand out in my mind. I had my wisdom teeth out but that didn't hurt at all.

I've pulled thousands of muscles and the feeling is meaningless if that had anything to do with making this thread.

I've heard about people doing that. I almost tried it once myself. Instead, I took my pocket knife and just shoved the tip under the nail until it started to bleed. MUSCLE CRAMPS

Once in a while I'll get the most painful cramp in my calf at night.

Also, once I did 3 sets of 30 crunches, not having done any sort of exercise in months, and a minute later I had the worst cramp in my abdomen. I honestly felt like I had permanently fucked something and had to go to the hospital. After about the 5 longest minutes of my life it subsided, and my abs were just sore. I now am paranoid and stretch before and after my crunches, and I usually stay on the ground for a few minutes after my crunches just to make sure it's safe for me to get up. I was in high school playing baseball for my school, and we were playing one of the top-ranked teams in the state. I get up there to bat; the guy throwing looks like he's about thirty and he is bringing it, about 90, which is outstanding for high-school. I step up to bat, he gives me one outside. Okay. The next pitch comes high and tight. I don't have time to dodge, I just reflexively swing at it as hard as I can. Pops me right on the thumb, dead on. I back away from the plate and glance down at my hand and tell the ump I'm okay. I step back into the batter's box; suddenly, pain unlike anything I've ever felt. Mind you, I've had my collarbone shattered, my head crushed open, stitches in the face with no anesthesia, but on a scale of 1-10, I'd give this a 9. I look a little closer at my hand and see that the thumbnail is actually jammed back up into the thumb, and the thumb itself is about twice its normal size. I had to be taken out of the game, and my mom took me to the hospital (lulz). I just remember saying "It shouldn't hurt this bad, should it? I shouldn't hurt this bad?", and passing out.

I've had a thumb cut off, the pain of the muscles regrowing and it healing is the worst thing I could ever imagine.

The only thing close was when I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed and the blood never clotted resulting in nerves being open to the air, I couldn't sleep and the percocet did nothing for the pain.

PAIN GET :(
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
I've experienced all kinds of interesting types of pain. So far, nothing that made me actually black out.

The second worst instance I can remember was a couple hours of dental work where the numbing agent they used wore off much too early and I let them continue just because.

The worst incident that I can recall was last summer when I had something going on with a wisdom tooth that had a hole through it. At some points, the pain was so bad that I could merely lay in my dark room and just soak in the pain, completely unable to sleep because the pain would keep me awake at all times. The world just sort of went away, and there was just the sense of pain taking up my entire consciousness. This ridiculous amount of pain was happening even though I was using Tylenol 3s. I can't remember another point in my life when pain got so bad that it made it impossible to think about anything else for hours and hours.

The Twister, while rolling in BJJ class. I had no idea what it was at the time and didn't tap. My bastard of a partner just kept cranking.

Sounds painful indeed.

I have felt your pain. Cluster Headaches are the worst. There is no describing it. You don't go into shock, you are fully aware the WHOLE time of the pain. Read up on it if you want to learn more, but it really cannot be told, you need to experience it to empathise.

I have had two cluster headaches. One for about two weeks when I was 11, and then another about a month after that, for around the same amount of time.

Come to think of it, I really hope it never happens again. Worst couple of months of my life, seriously.

My period. I have permission from my doctor to take twice the recommended amount of both extra strength advil and extra strength tylenol every 4 hours and I'm still in so much pain that I'm dizzy and vomiting. A couple times I've passed out, but that's only when I'm feeling well enough to stand up and walk around. Usually I can't walk or think or sleep really, so I just try to lie in bed for two days every month and wait for it to pass.

Stent being pulled from my ureter.

Doctor pulled a plastic tube from my cock using a string tied to the end of the tube.

Longest 3 seconds of my life.

You poor thing. I gotta admit I'm lucky with my period. With whatever little pain I do get it only lasts for the first day. Usually it's normal cramping and before I took birth control it was massive lower back pain.

I know this is obvious, by why not go on the pill to have it only like 4 times a year or whatever?
I'm assuming some condition, which sucks

my gf is the exact opposite. If she's on the pill is completely fucks her up. She gets cluster headaches, her tits swell 2 cup sizes, and she can't sleep.

Once she got off the pill she went back to normal...looks like its snip-snip for me and then a new painful story to share...

Are you sure? I know there are techniques for reversal, but that's risking two surgeries on some priority parts.

The aftermath of lung surgery was the worst, but the worst part of that was having the drains for my chest pulled out from under my arms. The skin had started trying to close up on the drains, and it was all clotted together with blood, and they just yanked out like of foot of tubing from inside my body that was stitched in place in one swift movement. Worst, weirdest, and most painful feeling I have ever had in my life.

I once flew from Boston to Orlando with an ear infection. I cried for three hours without stopping.

The next most painful thing was a bikini wax but it wasn't even close.

Same thing happened to me. It didn't hurt too bad but I was completely dazed. They stopped the game and everyone kept asking if I was okay and I didn't know I was supposed to respond. I just kept backing away from my coach so I guess they decided to leave me in. Then, at halftime, I went to meet my team on the sidelines and ended up on a different field, so they took me out.

The bends, for one. Your joints feel like billions of volts are coursing through them, and your head feels like it will explode from the inside. The pressure mounts on your skull - it's horrible.

Getting a deep cut across a scar. Scar tissue, for those of you that might not know, is structured differently than skin or muscle; it's fibrous, and when it's cut open, each fiber is torn individually. Fucking nasty.

Being totally engulfed in fire (now that's a fucking awesome story - I grew up on an isolated farm, far from anywhere, and quickly grew to enjoy alcohol at a young age. Now, each night we'd have a bonfire for lack of anything better to do, and we'd drink and pass out. I got drenched in alcohol, some flames caught me, and voila. Flambe a la homme) is like being stabbed with a million needles.

Having a cathoder pulled out. 'Nuff said.

My mom bought me a super cool dagger when I was 12. I was samurai-ing shit up, sheathing and unsheathing that thing so fast. Of course, I once missed the sheathe and stabbed through my palm fat.

I was also playing with some Goku toy when I was young, I thought he would look better with some battle damage, so I grabbed a knife and started to stab the toy. It was one of those old man knives with no lock mechanism when the blade was open, it close on my hand. I could see my pinky bone and ran crying to my mother, but she was asleep and told me we'd go to the doctor the next day. Wrapped a wet paper towel around the cut, tied some yarn around said paper towel and went to sleep.

I caught my dick in my zipper the other day, I don't think it was the most painful thing ever but I had to be a man and unzip and that hurt like a bitch.

Holy shit, you guys have suffered so much more than me

Seriously, I think the worst pain I've had is like, a migraine, once in my life. Oh and one time I had uncontrollable neck spasms

but thats it, and they weren't even that bad

RSD

Your nerves basically go apeshit and register pain for no good reason. Ive had a scratched cornea, sprained a disc, had 4 root canals at a time (and for 1 of them anesthesia wouldnt work), and believe me, all this didnt come even close to the pain of a bad flareup of RSD.

Excruciating. Researchers peg RSD above childbirth, root canals, and just below death.

Not only that, its usually chronic. So you get to experience the pain at all hours, sometimes for hours on end. Hurray.

On the plus side, now I have a whole new tolerance for pain --and a lot of respect for powerful painkillers, they are the hallmark of civilization.

Oh, probably dying of an autoimmune disease. That was before I got treatment. I don't think you can top that.

Only comparable pain was going through hard drug withdrawal.

Having severe E-Coli. Bleeding out your ass while sitting on the toilet, vomiting in a towel, getting head to toe hives, and praying to god that if you survive the horrible pain and you will be a good person from now on.

I've had my finger caught in a car door when I was 5 or 6. That nearly snapped the whole thing off.

Stung by hornets 18 times.

I was running down some stairs, tripped then fell to the bottom. That put my upper teath from canine to canine deep into my lower lip.

I was running up a hill and tripped, this time sending one of my lower canines through my lower lip.

Having a dentist drill too far into a tooth so that he drilled the nerve. It hurt for 4 months afterwards if I bit down on something that wasn't soft (I chewed with the other side of my mouth durring those months).

Last but not least, migranes. They started when I was 14 and lasted until I was 19. Blinding pain, litterally blinding, multicolored streaks, checkers, and patterns kept me from seeing anything. Light made it far worse. Nausia and vomiting ensued.

Been kicked hard in the balls a couple of times too, but migranes are the worst I've felt.

I broke my tibia and fibula in a 4 wheeler accident. My friend was driving and crashed into the side of a truck(fun vacation huh?) I'm not sure if the truck ran my leg over or if I landed on my leg awkwardly. It was a clean break so I think maybe the second one. After the accident I attempted to stand up on my leg in shock and it was a low break so my foot literally flopped to the side when I stepped on it. The worst part is, the truck passenger stepped out and said to us "You know the worst part? He just paid off this truck 3 months ago!"

I didn't realize how much of an asshole comment that was until later on when I wasn't in shock.

i have an OCD, i obsessively think of bad memories

i've eventually learned to not care, since pretty much any situation can conjure up something bad that i'll obsessively think about later
