Is there any thing that would be harmful mentally or physically about being alone all the time?

I have people tell me how it's not healthy to keep to myself all the time and the standard "go out and meet a nice girl etc..." shit. But I don't like doing all that shit all the time. I'd rather just come home and relax.

Would it cause any problems other than less social status (dont care) since I'm permanently single and not looking?

I don't think it's bad but I constantly get told how it's unhealthy and not good for me.

Well, I guess it would depend on how much time you're alone...if you're talking about being by yourself 24/7/365, then that's not very good for you...

Are you the same guy that couldn't stop thinking about that one girl? Did you end up growing that beard?

Mentally, people in isolation tend to have or develop anxiety problems and sometimes may suffer from depression. However, many people who have spent great lengths in solitude are reported to have no problems whatsoever. Monks often spend years or even a lifetime in solitude and believe in it for means of enlightenment.

I believe time in solitude increases your chances of developing physiological problems, mainly due to lack of relationships. We humans are social creatures, we strive on the acceptance and appreciation from others whether you like it or not, its hardwired in our brain.
Yet, we also are creatures of adaption, conforming and adjusting to our environment to best suit our survival, even on a mental level.

Physically, you should be fine. If you develop depression, the symptoms will be noticeable. Just make sure you get some exercise, don't spend all your time sitting at the computer, because then your bound to be messed up. It'll also keep your mental side in line as well.

I've had anxiety problems and I used to hang out with my friends a lot.
But I think that's part of the reason I stopped being around them. I either don't know what to say OR I just can't bring myself to talk.

For the past month I've been pretty much alone. Other than going to classes, the gym and going home on the weekends I just stay in my room. Lurking/trolling 4chan or watching TV shows and movies.

I'm trying to better myself though. Starting by getting rid of anxiety problems. But it's tough.
