So im going to the doctor today to talk about getting accutane.
Is there anyone here who has taken it?
Any positives or negatives about it?

Positive: Your acne goes away.

Negative: You become emo and try to hang yourself. Also you'll be chugging water constantly while contemplating suicide.

I've heard your eyes get really dry, and it may be permanent. But that's just for some.

Also, acne.org has better resources and many logs/tales of people who did or are on accutane.

I took accutane as a teenager.
It did clear up my acne, but it left acne scars(I never picked at my zits) and it had some pretty goddamn harsh side effects. It wont kill you but you're going to feel depressed as fuck for no reason, you're going to be super sensitive to sunlight and you wont be able to drink alcohol or take acetominophen (Tylenol) because it will rape your liver if you do.

If your acne is very severe I'd say do it, but READ ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS FROM A SOURCE OTHER THAN 4CHAN FIRST.

I've talked to people who used to take accutane.

DON'T FUCKING TAKE IT UNLESS YOU REALLY, REALLY NEED TO.

Seriously, these guys were fucked up.

I'm actually taking generic accutane right now, only 20mg a day though. My skin and lips are really dry, and your acne gets worse for about the first month, but it does help clear it up. I've been on it for a while, and I haven't had anything feelings of depression. Drink lots of water, get an oil free skin moisturizer, wear sun screen, and get something to stop your lips from drying out, and you should be fine. This is just my experience so far though. The dermatologist also will probably try other treatments before going to accutane.

Took it a couple of years ago, fuckwin drug is fuckwin, acne went away and never came back, enjoy paying 600 dollars a month unless you live in canada(thank god for social healthcare)

Acutane only makes you depressed if you were already slightly depressed, my life was great, i took it and i was fine, along with the majority, anyone who said their life was good and then got worse after being on the pill is a fucking liar.

Or they aren't you? Lots of differences in people besides their "mood" control how a drug affects them. But I imagine you already knew this and just felt like trolling.

I took it for a few months, didn't get depressed but it didn't do shit for my acne

use accutane as a last resort.
what most of the other channers have said is true like avoid direct sunlight, etc.
Accutane will also severely dry your skin, in some cases can cause some skin flaking or cracks that will bleed. Just take some moisturizing cream like cetaphil if that happens.

ro-accutane is the fucking SHIT. some lady posted on here last night about asking what to do for her son and EVERYONE reccomends it.

Fine cept for perpetually dry lips

well uh, accutane is pretty much poison;
there was a giant law suit going around where people where successfully suing them for the side effects that were drastically under noted-i was contacted twice

so how did accutane help me after about a year or so of taking it?

Pro: no acne, little to no scarring

Con: +Permanently damaged kidneys-i piss proteins and whenever I get a new doctor in and they see it they freak
+Accelerated degeneration of my joints; Chondromalacia of the patellas was just the start...
+A nice side of depression

I strongly recommend against it, seriously-so what if you have a few scars, atleast it doesn't hurt to walk

if you have acne then might as well take some steroids/prohormones at least and getting pumped up instead of taking accutane

just watch out for ur balls shrinking to marble size

My friend had a bad experience with accutane. It didn't help his acne all that much, and he got VERY depressed (borderline suicidal.)

Of course, I'm sure my friend reacted worse than the majority of people do. Still, it's worth mentioning.
