The general consensus is that you build more strength through high weight, low reps. Of course, you also build strength through low weight, high reps, just not as much.

power through high weight but low reps. the reason you often see people perform it at a quick pace is because they have incorporated explosive power into the lift, allowing them to use more weight. although it does improve muscular str, it's more of a technique

so an example of this would be just benching at twice normal speed? or do they instead explode the weight off their chest and slow it down a bit on the way down?
