I'm a 20 year old male, 6'2", 180lb

I have JUST ENOUGH body fat so that my abs aren't defined. I figure maybe 7-10lb of it. I work out already, and have around the muscle volume I was aiming for when I started. My question is how to lose those last few pounds so I can be model-sexy. I was never really fat to begin with so I never concentrated on losing weight.

I was lurking moar and read something about a 'ketogenic' diet where you eat only meat/eggs/fat/etc and no sugar/bread/pasta/etc. For my bodyweight it recommended I eat 1400 calories on off days and 1600 on workout days, with no more than 100g of carbohydrates on any given day. Supposedly this will let me lose the fat I need to without destroying my muscles.

Any input? Thanks guys.

This is very slightly less annoying than those "DURRR HOW DO I LOST OBESEITEE?" or "HRRRNNGGG HOW DOES I MUSCLES?"

That said, I have no idea how to answer this legitimately because I'm a troll.

Eat less, replace all your drinks with water or diet tea. Run. 7-10 is easy.

diet tea?

he means to cut that SHIT like Arizona Ice Tea or any other ice tea you'd get at a restaurant OUT.

"unsweetened" ice tea.

I *HOPE* he doesn't mean the real "diet" teas, with artificial sweeteners. disguisting.

Oh.

Well anyway I already only drink water, along with two cups of coffee a day (skim milk; one sugar)

It's a little known fact that consuming fewer calories than your daily requirement will result in weight loss. I'm actually quite surprised that you came across this diet; up to this point I'd only spoken to a handful of other people who knew that eating too little would cause them to lose weight.

Yes, I understand that, thank you for trolling. If you actually read what I wrote you'd realize that I was asking if this specific diet would both work and avoid catabolizing muscle tissue that I worked so hard to build.

Ketogenic... Is this just a new name for the Atkins diet, in an attempt to sell the fad again?

That's a keto diet. Atkins had a palatable-for-mainstream version that ruined most of its applicability to weight-lifters, but is still quite good for fatties needing pure weight-loss. In a more stringent keto, the goal is muscle-sparing. It's not as simple as "make my double whopper without a bun"

Eat 3 scrambled eggs for breakfast, two tablespoons of peanut butter for snack, a can of tuna with mayonnaise and celery for lunch, two more tablespoons of PB, and some red meat for dinner to complete 1500 calories for the day.

At some point during the days you work out, a protein shake is also appropriate

You're definitely right, but the greater mind of the two minds engages in piracy instead of paying $50.

In what sense? It's high in protein and fat, low on carbs. I'd probably spread it out a bit more to make it more filling and swap the read meat for white for most of the week. Overall its basically what you're looking to be eating but you can alter the amounts depending on your BMR.
