I suck at running, period. I do 3 miles in about 25-27minutes, depending on how hydrated, stretched, motivated I am. Im trying to drop that run time down to ~22-23. I am set for the first 1-1.5miles, but after that I just lose it and end up slowing down/giving up a lot for some reason.

Ive been told when training for 3 miles, to run 4. However, If I cant run 3 without walking, how am I supposed to run 4?

How long have you been doing this? Some things take time. And you don't run 4 miles to train for 3, you run 8+.

it's because you are mentally weak.

try slowing down your speed when you think you're running too fast and can't uphold that speed

srsly, finding the right speed to suit your endurance and mental fortitude is harder than it sounds

Try starting off strong and fast, then slowing down when you get tired. NEVER walk though, even if you have to run extremely slow, that you're at walking pace. After this, you'll get something called a "runner's high" where you feel like you can go all out. When you expierence this, pick up your pace to compensate for the slow running. I usually do this on long runs.

Plus to increase your speed, do fartlek and intervals.
