so, i tend too get really nervous before stuff like football matches important tests etc, anything i can do to ease the nerves or am i just pretty much screwed ?

being nervous is the bodies way to being alert. Try to embrace it and breathing exercises. There is also trying to reason shit out, works for me on tests and shit, the whats the worst that can happen and what can I do if that happens.

breathing exercises. breath in deeply and exhale and imagine AAA. breath in again and exhale and imagine BBB, continue to CCC. then take a deep breath and count 1, exhale to 2 and continue to 10.

I also believe there are drugs and therapy for anxiety if this is crippling

Personally, I think breathing and meditation is the way to go. Bonus points if you make hand/arm gestures to go with breathing.
Breathe in: scoop arms in. Visualize collecting negative energy (stress, anxiety, etc)
Breathe out: push arms out. Visualize removing negative energy.
