Hello /fit/, I'm glad to see this board as I'm just getting into a pretty healthy lifestyle.

I've got my hands on a skipping rope and I've heard it's a very good cardio exercise. Do you guys have any tips for form and execution?

I'm assuming it to be done on the balls of your feet with a straight back, with the wrists doing most of the work with the rope itself.

Can anyone offer anything more in-depth? I'm starting to look a lot better than I did but I want to throw some cardio in there.

Pic unrelated. Any information will be appreciated.

You know, I just jump rope the way I did back in third grade.

Just land and bend the knee to reduce impact each time.

Wow. I just read that "I'm assuming it to be done on the balls with your feet straight back".
I'd say: Jump, wenn the rope is about to hit your feet.

Yeah, I figured as much. I've gotten into the habit of trying to land/walk silently wherever possible which involves reducing impact. I never did skip when I was younger but if it's that easy I'll just stay the course.

Thanks, tripfag.

Give it some forearm, too. Hands should be mostly in front of you, a little wider than shoulder width. Don't hold your arms way down out to side. Bad.
