It's bullshit. No one just suddenly starts to gain large amounts of weight from age. Your metabolism slows down, a LITTLE bit, not as much as people want to say it does.
More likely what happens is no one watches what they eat, and slowly, year by year, they accumulate excess, redundant, non functional weight.
My mother uses the same excuse. "Oh, I'm overweight but I just can't lose it! I must have a slow metabolism cause I'm an aged woman."
No, she just eats too much. I've seen it.
