I'm getting all doughy n' shit, so tomorrow I'm gonna go get myself a decent pair of shoes for me to use while working out (suede shoes just don't seem right).

Anyway, I was hoping for some advice on what to look for when getting a pair of sneakers or the likes...

Training shoes can do anything, but aren't perfect for everything.

If you plan on only running, get running shoes.

Tennis, then get Tennis shoes.

Walking or Powerwalking, get walking shoes.

If you're doing a mix of things and don't want to change shoes when you get too tired to keep jogging, get training shoes.

I'm rather flat footed btw so I suppose getting something with the right arch support is paramount.

Seems like my kinda thing as I'm planning on going to a gym regularly coupled with longer jogs/walks.

You should get special insoles for your problem. Make sure that they are impact resistant for sports too. Something like this.
