Which build do you strive for /fit/?

I would like to have some bulk without going overboard.

How do you develop into either?
I heard being very lean and toned is harder to attain.

Lean and mean, a Bruce Lee body

Daniel Craig one, but he needs more definition.

OP Here
Im basically trying to define the difference between a lean build and the bulky 300 spartan build.

Both 300 and fight club became idealistic builds men aimed for.

fat, with big guns
>> Anonymous
Depends on your body type, i found it much easier to get bulky than to get lean.

Best mate finds it impossible to get bulky, and although doing pretty much the same work out as me, is the lean (he is korean though)
>> Anonymous
I'd say the '300' build is incredibly lean and cut. I wouldn't call it 'bulky'.
>> Moonmauler
>>66032
The "300" build is just as lean too. Those guys had very little fat on them.
>> Anonymous
OP here,
i mean the general appearance, like bulky as in big and muscular, and obviously lean like brad.

Im not interested in counting peanuts

The one that's more intimidating.

>> Guil
Theres not much difference between those two.
>> Anonymous
Lean, with medium to big arms.
>> Anonymous
Copare brad in fight club to Brad in Troy.

There would be your difference between lean and bulky.

The difference is in the focus. bulky has more emphasis on chest, back, and arms. Lean has more focus on core strength. Not that there is slack in one area than the other, it's just the focus.

And it totally depends on the woman and what she's into. But women don't want a fatty or a bony guy, so either one is a winner for the chicks. Get whatever one you want.
>> Moonmauler
>>66192
You're misconstruing the word "lean". Lean means low or no fat. You can be lean and bulky.

How so? And define "lean and toned" please, because someone who is jacked seems more lean to me... And I thought "toned" was a made-up word to sell shitty workout equipment through infomercials.
>> Anonymous
Lean and toned.
>> Anonymous
>>66192
What? You're just changing the definition of lean and bulky. What the fuck does being lean have to do with core strength? It just means you don't have a lot of fat on you.
>> Anonymous
basically, you're asking what would be better - some muscle and little fat (what you call "lean" build), or lots of muscle and little fat (what you call "bulk" build).

Answer is obvious to me.
>> Anonymous
Not >66192, but isn't it obvious from the pic what this anon was talking about? How 'bout we restate it as slender & muscular versus bulky & muscular.
>> Anonymous
I don't give a rat's ass how I look. I just wanna lift and lift heavy. Coincidentally I get bigger while doing it. Yay.
>> Anonymous
Slim and muscular. Large and muscular is going to spend HOURS a day shoveling food down my throat and feeling sick all day to get the 4000-5000 calories a day i'd need to bulk for a little ego.
>> Anonymous
Lean in Toned is easy, you keep lifting hard but decrease your cals while upping your protien.

And Craig is not Bulky, hes bigger, but quite tonned.
>> Anonymous
Soooo lean by far.
A bulky guy just looks... weird and gross.
>> Anonymous
I want the fight club build.. how would i get that?
>> Anonymous
>>66422
call 555-...
>> Anonymous
The FIght Club build looks better imo, I'm into sports so its a hinderance to be big and bulky, a lot of the time its only for looks; sure you'll be able to lift more but its about finding the right balance between strength, speed, and endurance, if you're huge, you'd have concentrated more on heavy lifting than running for example and obviously speed and stamina won't be your strong points.

At the end of the day, its what you want in yourself, some girls like small bulky guys with huge muscles, some girls like the lean athletic types; I personally would like the athletic looks, Cristiano Ronaldo, Drogba etc, more easily maintainable and probably more liked globally.

Craig is pretty fucking lean and nowhere near bulky.

A man with that size and in that shape would wipe the floor with the anemic Pitt.

Pitt has great low body fat percentage there, but shit for muscle.
>> Guil
>>67666
Craig would just have to cut for a month or two to look like Pitt, to remove the fat around his abs. Their actual muscle size is not much different. This is a shit comparison, because most people will not keep the BF% Pitt has there constantly and end up looking closer to Craig anyway. If you can't see that their actual muscles are quite close in size then I don't know what to say.
>> Guil
>>67672
Well, I agree Craig looks like he'd take Pitt there I don't know if Pitts muscles are really much smaller, maybe its the angle or something thats getting me

His forearms are obviously smaller though

Brad Pitt OP image is lean and thin. Daniel Craig is fit. Next up,

Pitt weighed 155lbs at 6-8% body fat for Fight Club.

Daniel Craig is probably weight in at 175 at 10% body fat.
>> Anonymous
>>67692
Well that's not bulky. The guys in 300 were lean and muscular. Similar to Ryan Reynolds (the paint on their abs may make them look a touch more intimidating and muscular).

Bulky implies unwieldy and large. Not guys who can jump through air and chop heads off.

rofl at your idea of bulky....

That's my minimum goal, before I hit 20...

"lean and toned" should be translated into "starved, but gnarly because of hair and make up"

THIS, is bulky. (on the right) and left is lean and ripped.

L2know what tone means.

Personally I'm going for around 230-240 at 6'1...

neg at troll.

Phil Heath is symmetrical and huge, but he's got a really "bulky" look just because of the sheer size he's started packing on.

DJ is cut as fuck, symmetrical to the nth degree, and as a whole, smaller.

Nothing unreasonable with the goal of 230-240 at 6'1.

It's just everyone here is being such pussies about what "bulky" is.

Even then, Heath isn't "bulky"

Coleman off season, or maybe even a pudzian shot would have been more appropriate.

Not all trolls, some of us do genuinely want to be awe inspiring, simply by standing and existing.
>> Anonymous
I think this is a case of "Everyone wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift no heavy ass weights". Pussies who are afraid of the iron trying to convince themselves that skinny is more aesthetically pleasing than muscle. Ha! I laugh at you girly-men. Keep on being a 90 pound weakling, and keep wondering why girls won't talk to you.

Awe inspiring = Vomit inducing

You'll attract in the same sense that theres chubby chasers out there, a small demographic of women who probably look like men themselves.

Lets not forget the dedication required to look like that is unreasonable unless you make it your life, and you'd have to make money off of it to make it your life. If you want to, go ahead, but don't call everyone else pussies because they have different ideas of bulk. And by different I mean realistic.

>>67974
>> Anonymous
Look, not everyone has to be a bodybuilder (well duh)

I just think trying to look good shirtless under perfect lighting is silly, when if you train hard, properly and eat enough you can look good in anything, a suit? No problem, traps, delts and pecs are thick and muscular, you look A+
Tshirt and jeans, going out with the boys... Got the legs to make the jeans look good, and anyone with a good benchpress weight inevitably looks good in a tshirt.

What about shirtless then? where the skinny guy shines, that's why you diet, like, you watch everything you eat, so you still have the defined abs and the cuts...

Seems to me, like if we're going for looks, bigger is better, just gotta know where you want to draw the line, for me, there is no line, but that's not for everyone.

Just don't be a pussy in the gym because you want to be "lean and toned".

Me again, thought I should atleast post a picture of the kind of physique I think your everyday person should aim for. He's much more defined than most normal people could sustain, but more just the general musculature, shape etc....

I like my boys to look healthy, but I find over the top body builder muscles to be too much. I like definition over mass.

Brad Pitt > Daniel Craig

But either are better than being a stick or being chubby.

Bodybuilders, on stage, are some of the most defined people in the world.

If they peak properly, they'll be so much leaner than brad pitt could ever HOPE to be =p
