Everyone tells me not to do ab stuff yet because I still have a lot of body fat and it will just make me look fatter. Is this true? And even if it does, won't the extra muscle burn the fat faster?

Yes but not by much and yes, but not due to a spot effect. Just having more lean tissue will help you shed fat.

Those people are telling you not to do something because of the way it might make you look for a shorter period of time, but the pros outweigh the cons if you think about them. Yeah, I would shoot them, they're assholes and probably type improperly.

Step 1. Eat healthy, fatass

Step 2. Cardio to further reduce body fat (jogging every few days, whatever)

Step 3. Ab workout...this varies from person to person but I prefer something like...

4x30 crunches
4x20 weight leg lifts
4x30 leg cross crunches

Twice a week with stretching before and after.
