works fine if you want huge muscles, but not so much for realistic strength.

And the strength I'm talking about is % based, not total mass. Like the 130lb guy who can bench 195lb vs the 250lb guy who can bench 350lbs. 130lb guy has more control over his strength.

There's a big difference lifting 90%+ of your 1RM for reps and lifting something much, much lighter for a longer amount of time. I think it is YOU who may be misinformed.
