First off, get some fruit to replace junk food for snacks. Apples and bananas etc. are inexpensive and healthy.

No processed food.

1. LOTS of fresh green leafy vegetables. Scarf down romaine lettuce, fresh spinach and broccoli like your life depended on it. Eat them naked too, don't cheat by covering them in dressing. You CAN use dressing as long as it's made with non-hydrogenated vegetable oils and you count the calories.

2. 100% whole grain bread and non-sweetened oatmeal. Read labels, DO NOT eat enriched wheat flour.

3. Lean, skinless chicken and turkey breast.

4. Fresh fruit. No fruit juice, that's cheating.

5. NO POP

6. Do not "snack". Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day instead of three large ones.

7. You need good sources of fat. Organic peanut butter, olive oil, and nuts such as almonds and pecans are good. Be sure to carefully measure portion sizes though, as although these foods are healthy they are very calorie dense so you have to make sure not to overeat them.

Yummy. I found a good topping to put on things that is healthy and extremely low in calories; bamboo shoots. Usually in asian food sections. Very tasty on rice crackers.
