is there any natural way to increase appetite? with supplements? ive been taking in 5000 calories a day and only gaining 7 lbs a month. i constantly feel nauseous and because of my genes i cant gain any more than that. im currently on rippetoes, eating 300g of protein a day, and doing everything right. i want to know if theres any boosters out there (other than weed. been there, just recently quit, it hinders more than it gains i find).

pic is me currently, 6'5" 175 lbs from 6'5" 135 lbs.

1g a pound? It's 1g per KILO of body-weight. To start with you should be aiming at 0.8g per kg working your way up to about 1.5-1.6g for anyone who's not attending Olympia events. 300g of protein a day is a gigantic waste.

Wanna gain weight? 175lbs? You should be eating about 3,300 cals consisting of 145g of protein, 75g of fat and 520g of carbs. You're trying to force your body to handle more than it can take, 7lbs a month is more than enough.

"Two groups of men consumed two levels of protein (1.4 and 2.8 g/kg body weight) during a 40-day experimental period... In this study, although the men did increase body protein stores and muscle mass with high-protein diets, the additional body protein did not enhance physiological work performance."
Increased stores and mass.

300g of protein isn't as much overkill as you make it out to be. He should be eating 220-280g protein per day.

Guil you are quickly becoming the laughing-stock of /fit/.
>> Guil
Oh, woops. Didn't realize this was a troll I was talking to. But I'll respond anyway.
>>51841
It not saying how much each one of them stored negates it as a source. And you conveniently left out the last line:
It is suggested that in this sutdy 100 g of protein/day was adequate for men performing fairly heavy work.

No where does it say more protein means more mass.

>>51830
So why are you responding to me? Because 1g per pound isn't that crazy. By my calculations op would be eating 175g instead of 145, do you really want to argue over 30g of protein? Theres some room for "extra" - but fuck, talk to the idiot who is suggesting 280- not me.

Nah, can't be arsed, just annoyed at the amount of fuckwits on here who think MOAR is always better when if you're really wanting to achieve a truly /fit/ lifestyle you need to do more research into it. I've lurked on here and seen an obscene amount of shit produced by some people. It's like "hur-hur CREATINE!" or crap like that and yeah it helps but it's not the be all and end all of mass-building, it's like people don't know the basics of having a glucose/carb-loaded snack 45 minutes before a workout and 15 minutes afterwards or not including cardio; that last bit REALLY fucks me off. CARDIO BEFORE AND AFTER WORKOUTS REDUCES THE CHANCES OF HEART FAILURE.

I've digressed but yeah, this is why I don't post on here that often. To help the idiots/trolls on here would take a massive overhaul and I'm too fucking busy for it. Protein's a poor workout fuel, it's all about carbs for that.

Besides, it looks like OP's focussing too hard on the arms. More work on the back (lats especially, delts too) and abs to give that core strength.

I will say I did get my figures wrong for the 1g per kg thing, that's for a guy doing little-to-moderate physical activity around the house and workplace. For a person (male) who lifts and works out it's about 1.5g-1.8g per kilo so I'll apologise for that.

bawbawbaw you are 6'5'' be happy!

most guys on /fit/ say that theyre 6'2 or over. take a look at real life, where over 6 feet is a 1-in-10 occurance in almost every place in the world, and take a guess at how many guys on /fit/ are lying or exaggerating their height.

it's also hard to tell due to the angle of the OP pic, but it looks like his knee is only a little higher than his coffee table. seems kind of off for a 6'5 guy.

>>51946

He could well be 6'5" from that pic, too hard to be sure with the angle.

Although, a lot of people genuinely don't know how tall they really are. People measure wrong, add 2/3 inches without realising.

cannabis.

no, seriously. They use it on bulemics etc.

On that thought, check for other medicine for bulemics.

im guessing the sick feeling is comming from too much food in your intestines?
try eating more pre digested food like glucose instead of more complex carbohydrates (glucose can be absorbed straight through the stomach wall) and amino acids instead of protein etc?

Oh, great, you just read the abstract? How about you read the entire report, for starters read the section I highlighted in this screencap.

On top of not knowing how much protein to recommend you also can't read? Just gtfo of /fit/. Before you go, here is a lesson in reading comprehension:
When there is a comparative study and they mention one group as a control for protein intake, referring to those on "high protein" will not include the control who are taking substantially less. Read the following again and see if you notice anything now:
>In this study, although the men did increase body protein stores and muscle mass with high-protein diets
>did increase body protein stores and muscle mass with high-protein diets
>did increase... muscle mass

What the hell were you saying again? Oh right, lol 1g per pound lol. Great job, good way to get rid of your budding competition... if you even compete.

lotta people only go on 1 gram per pound. what's your problem. a lot of powerlifters don't even bother with that much. go over to efs if you don't believe me.

the amount of protein needed is still very much up for debate. for your one study there is another one showing that not that much is needed. even the methods of measuring protein in the body are debated as well. there is no conclusive evidence either which way, and most bodybuilders just err on the side of caution.

i weigh more than the op, am shorter and don't eat that much protein. i still make progress at the gym; all my lifts are currently going up. what's more, it's not just about protein intake; you need an energy source to facilitate protein synthesis.

in other words, it's not even worth getting angry about. take a fucking chill pill.

Who is angry? It's just the internet, and I'm the toughest guy on it. I'm glad you mention that there are studies countering the findings of the one I posted. Maybe I'll find some one day.

go over to tnation, there are articles for africa on the subject, referencing all the studies you need. the conclusion is exactly as i described; you may not need that much, but we're bodycomp nazis so we'll err on the side of caution and eat 600g per day. or go to elite fitness systems and get laughed at when you ask one of those bastards whether or not you keep track of macro-nutrients to facilitate growth.

what's missing from this subject is how much lean mass the subject was carrying to begin with. Train for several years and 300g may be necessary to sustain your gains.
