sup /fit/,
This chick I've known for a long time is finally coming back from a trip in a month and I got this nasty gut going on. I'm pretty desperate to lose anywhere from 10 to 20 lbs in this month period. Any (real) suggestions? I'm 5'9", 170 lbs and haven't really worked out in awhile, if that helps for anything.

Eat very little, work out a lot.

DUH. Faggot.

Eat once every eight days. Run 10km a day wearing a ski jacket and snow pants. Drink limited amounts of water.

If you can follow this, you win.

Uh, was hoping for some more specifics. Like what kind of exercises?

I'm seriously daft when it comes to that shit.

replace 2 meals with slim fast
1 hour a day on a treadmill -if you're not running on it then make the incline pretty damn steep

DO NOT DO THIS FOR LONG - replacing meals with meal shakes will fuck you up in the long run but for a short term emergency goal it should do the trick

no a small meal would be like a healthy turkey wrap, with some carrots and a glass of water. (example of a small lunch.)

the point of the 6 small meals is that it keeps ur metabolism goin throughout the day, so that you burn more calories that way along with ur exercise. But these meals have to be healthy or itll backfire on you and make u gain weight.

An easy way to find out what size portion your meal should be is to make a fist. The size of your fist should be about the size of ur meal.

I heard a good meal is "a little bigger than a deck of cards" ...I got a pretty meaty fist, man

1) Make every meal primarily protein.

2) 2-3 times a week, do short *intense* workouts. Don't count reps, just go until the muscle fails and you just can't move it anymore. This will cause muscle growth, which increases your metabolism in the short term.

3) *DO NOT* exercise every day or for long periods. This is dumb shit promoted by personal trainers paid by the hour. For weight loss, exercising like this doesn't burn nearly enough calories to justify it. #2 is enough.

4) Do not try to starve yourself, even a little -- this will lower your metabolism and make it hard to stick to any kind of diet.

5) Pig out one day a week -- seriously, eat anything and everything you want -- this will ensure your metabolism doesn't downregulate and quell cravings you might have during the week.

6) Weigh your self twice. Once when you start, and once when you've decided to quit. Don't weigh yourself frequently or you'll get discouraged. Remember -- it's how you look, not how much you weigh. The number is meaningless.

That's pretty solid advice. Although, don't just eat cake and McDonald's on 5). But do keep a cheat day, it helps.

I could add more to this but it's a good quick summary, listen to this man. Although, don't expect to lose 10-20 pounds in a month, that is more like a 2-3 month commitment, unless you're really overweight it might come off faster.

Also, it's all in your mind, if the girl likes you she won't care you have a bit of a gut, 5'7'' 170lbs is not all that big.

It's known as the Zig-Zag method... for example.. 3 days of low calories, 1 day high... it keeps your metabolism on it's toes so it doesn't adjust and slow down when it realizes it's not getting as much food as it shouild.

Just eat 6 small meals a day, with a LEAN protein in every meal to speed up your metabolism. There is an excellent book I can recommend if you wish.

6 days - 1 pig out - 6 days - 1 pig out (would like pizza day to be a friday!)

Is this ok? or space it out more -i always feel if i pig out during the work week that I look fucking bloated at the office

It's more complicated than that, and it's different for everyone, if you notice you're not losing any weight through your exercise, then you should up your calories for a day or two then go back down.

If you want a great understand of this and many more subject on weight loss, I suggest reading this book:
