Sup /fit/,I got myself an electronic hair clipper and will cut off my hair with about 10-12cm length today with it to 4.5cm, which is the longest possible length with this cutter.I can't stand haircutter sessions, so I'm going to do it myself (of course this is retarded, but whatever...).Any things i should keep in mind or general recommendations for cutting your hair yourself? I thought about cutting it after shower with the hair being slighty wet.Pic is NOT the clipper i bought.
gona bring an electric shaver thats plugged into a wall in the shower...in b4 become an hero
>>199546what the fuck? did you even read op? anyway, cuttin it after washing is bad, the wet bits of hair would stick to everything.
>>199548Seconded. Use buzzer when your hair is dry and clean. If you're cutting your hair with scissors, do it when it's relatively wet, easier to control. Buzzer doesn't need much control. You might want a friend to do it for you, though.
>>199533I cut my own to 2.5mm length every week.It is important to keep your hair dry when cutting,so it does not affect the oil on the blades, and also do it into the bath or the sink. It can get messy if not properly controlled. Remember also to shower straight after or you will probably experience alot of irritation on your skin.
>>199548>>199554>>199572Thanks, then I'll do it with dry hair.I was planning to do it in/above the bathtub so the mess won't be that big. Also, I dont have a portable mirror or something. Is this a disadvantage or do I need to care about that when simply cutting it off with a clipper/buzzer?
>>199575in my experience yes. It is important to be able to see the full back, front and sides just to make sure you havent missed a chunk, or left a line or two here and there. Also it is important to go oer your head a good 4 or 5 times to make sure that your hair really has been cut equally all over. The first few times will probably take a good 30 minutes or so with 10 more minutes of checking it to see if it is all equal, but within a couple of months you will probably have it done within 10 minutes.
>>199575If you are taking everything off a mirror is not necessary, just make a few passes, feel over your head and go back over places that feel out of line.
Doing it yourself at that long lenght will look ridiculous. You can't trim around ears and neck alone.
>>199586It's looking ridiculous now anyways.
Starting in a few minutes... any final words of advice?
lube the scissors with oil from time to time.
Use short slow strokes, not long fast ones.
Try getting two mirrors and either someone to hold the second or something to put it on. Works wonders when I'm doing the back.
Holy shit, got shorter than expected and now the battery needs recharging and i have to continue later (don't have a working outlet in the bath, lol.Looks shit so far, but it did look shit to begin with, so whatever... in during fail.
