Hi /fit/
What is the truth about spot reduction? Is it really a myth? According to my results, it's not a myth. Squats have really gotten rid of a lot of my ass meat. Now my upper body looks out of proportion. I'm more concerned with my upper body also. Moobs and shit you know? Trying to get rid of that shit, but when I do crunches, it hurts my back more than my abs...This is frustrating.

Halp...please.

Spot reduction down to exactly where you want it is bull. Spot reduction in a general area, thats a toss up. Your lower back hurts because you have no muscle there, and you're probably fucking up your squatz somehow.

What says that I'm fucking up my squats? They've worked wonders.

The crunches are my main problem. I also do cheap "notallthewaydown" push ups too because I hear they somewhat help my moobs deteriorate. Any insight on this? I've done crunches 4 years back a lot and never had this problem. The crunches really burned my abs, but now it's just fucking with my back and minimally burning abs.

obviously building muscle in a certain area is going to change the way that area looks, but that's not what's generally meant by spot-reduction. the muscle you build through large, compound exercises like squats will help you burn fat all over, but you should work out the rest as well.

as far as crunches and your back, don't crank on the back of your head/neck to contract, focus on squeezing your abs and visualize your chest lifting towards the ceiling, that helped me out a lot.

Thanks for the visual. I know what you mean. I remember my basketball coach telling us to aim for our chest to go up and just look straight up when doing crunches. Thank you again. I'll try it tonight.

But what will get rid of my moobs? Is cardio my only chance? And many people have suggested HIIT and Tabata Intervals, but I find those things really complex...

Halp. :\
>> Hi /fit/
Ok I just did 30 crunches and not a single sign of back pain. Thanks anon. You have once again come to my rescue.

Use a fitness ball to do sit-ups or crunches on as it reduces back pain

Your manboobs are just fat. What reduces overall body fat? Hmmmm, tick tock, tick tock..

Also, do pushups and start bench pressing.

you can do bench press, pushup, flys, just don't get freaked if it accentuates the moobs at first, similar to the way situps can make your belly look extra-distended. all that will help, but some HIIT cardio every other (non-lifting) day will ramp up the fat-burning.

HIIT doesn't have to be complicated. walk fast/jog slow for 30 seconds, and run like you're being chased by a pack of angry niggers for 30 seconds, then repeat for 10 minutes or you feel like your heart will explode, depending on your level of fitness. (you can play with the high/low intensity times, but the key is to not let your heartrate leftover from the fast period dip too low during the slow period)

are moobs harder to get rid of? Not OP but i was going for a run today and a noticed a fair few guys(about 30+ yrs old) with nice set of man boobs despite being pretty/very lean

Shut the fuck up about moobs already. That's the singlemost annoying word I've ever come across.

Don't come across my moobs, man. Go for a facial.

no choice. do some jogging to reduce your body's overall fats. there are just some parts that are pretty hard to specifically reduce.

Hay you guise I'm back.

Very constructive post. Thanks. I just don't have a bench for bench pressing :\. For now I guess I'll just do my half assed push ups. Running is sounding kind of terrifying. It's like 95 degrees here...Goddammit. I think I'll wait for it to be night time to run then. We'll see.

Fucking moobs.
