How many calories should I eat while trying to lose fat and tone my body (abs, legs)?

I also need to know how much protein I need. It seems like no one agrees on protein requirements.

eat protein, but make sure you're actually lifting weights and not just doing the exercise bike on level 1 for 30 min like every other fatass on a failed weightloss program.
