FASTING:
Look it up on as many sites as possible before you go doing this. Naturally it's the most dangerous of all the "natural" things you can do with yourself. One things that is universal is to pick a time when you won't be harried by life. If you can get a month off work - then take that time to do it. You will want to make sure you drink plenty of fluids, at all times.
Use an 'ease in - ease out' method. First, to ease in, drop your caloric intake over a period of a week. Eat super-healthy things like greens, legumes and light meat like fish. Cut meat before your last day. Drink extra water. If for some reason you need to stop fasting, don't go to McDonalds and scarf down 10 hamburgers. You'll just throw up. Ease back in with a diet similar to the one you stopped eating with - start with greens, and soups. Wait a good week before eating heavy greasy food.
What are the benefits of fasting? They don't happen quickly. Most people who only fast a week rarely find any use for it. You'll need to do at least two weeks to a MONTH to get into the life-changing mental clarity that people who have fasted talk about. I've known people who have done it and it is supposedly quite profound and empowering. And yes, you'll lose weight, but that shouldn't be your reasoning behind it - or you're just going to stop fasting a day into it.
