I don't like cardio. I have done my best to like it, but I don't. Is it generally acceptable to lose weight without cardio, by dieting and resistance training alone? I am willing to sacrifice the speed of my weight loss for this.

Cardio is essential for your general health, learn to like it or go back to your sedentary lifestyle.

what have you tried for cardio? maybe you just need an option that is more fun.

You will lose weight by lifting but its going to be insanely slow without some solid cardio throughout the week. From my experience whenever I want to cut, I need to do 3 days of hard cardio such as spin classes on top of 5 days of lifting.

Cardio is insanely boring, I agree. Simply stupidly jogging or cycling isn't that much fun. That's why you've got to gather some friends together and go play soccer or squash or any other sport where you actually have to move around a lot.

You're fat and out of shape. Of course you won't like cardio. There isn't a fat person in the world who does like it. Right now, it's not really that you don't like as much as it is that you simply suck at running. Once you get a routine down and start improving little by little, you'll probably still won't like it. But it'll get tons easier so you won't detest it as much. People don't like getting up to work every morning either, but it's just one of those things you gotta do. The benefits outweigh the trouble.

Like people said, no fatass will start off enjoying not being a fat ass. give it time and start of slow. Find physical activities that actually are enjoyable (sports, get a punching bag, dancing naked alone). Just move.

You can lose weight without cardio, no problem. Weight Lifting is actually better for fat loss than cardio is.

1. Building muscle consumes more calories, so even if you ate the same, but had more muscle, you would be storing less calories as fat.
2. Resistance training increases your metabolic rate for an hour or more after you finish training. Cardios fat burning effects stop immediately (5-15 minutes).

From my own personal experience, I lost 40lbs from nothing more than eating well and doing resistance training 3-6 times a week with heavy weights. I did NO dedicated cardio, no biking, running, etc. I did play Volleyball twice a week and do Tae Kwon Do twice a week, but Volleyball wasnt very intense.

I'd say I lost the 40lbs in about 4 months. I also increased my strength, improved my appearance, gained muscle, made my arms, chest, and thighs bigger, and I felt better than I had in like at least 4 years.

Diet was lots of veggies, tuna, chicken. I ate Subway a lot for lunch (was in college at the time and we had one on campus).

There's your cardio, dumbass. Stop telling fatasses they can lift weights and then go sit in front of their computer chairs and get in shape.

Considering I'm more aware of how much intensity was involved in those sports, I still firmly believe cardio isn't necessary. See the other points.

Lifting weight burns fat and increases muscle mass which = fat loss.
