Alright /fit/, I really could use some help here.

I have a moderate amount of acne. Borderline severe. I've tried tonnes of things throughout the years, Proactive, cleansing pads, moisturizer, all kinds of topical gels, and two kinds of pills. There was a time when my face was nearly clear, it was when I was taking Doryx for it. I figured it wasn't the pill, it was just me growing out of my acne.

I stopped taking it and of course my face started breaking out. I went back to my derma and he prescribed me something else, something that worked but not as well, I took it anyways.

Not too long ago I stopped taking it, I hate taking medication. I wanted to get my face clear without pills. I ate a healthy diet and my face cleared up somewhat. I had finished up all my refills. Without them my face slowly started breaking out again.

And here I am now. No medications, just a healthy diet with lots of water. My face still breaks out. I now have no medical insurance so I can't get and medication. I can't get insurance until next year and I don't know what to fucking do. How can I clear my face up?

tl;dr

How do I get rid of acne without using and kind of medication?

Stop going through puberty.

If it actually is puberty then nature is taking it's course and there isn't anything you can do about it. A few years back I used to be a pizza face and nothing I tried would work.

About a year later my acne cleared up slightly on it's own and then using basic store bought Neutrogena facial shit along with washing my face finished off the rest of the acne on it's own. Sure I still get acne... if I don't wash my face for a fucking month.

But don't assume it's puberty. Part of your problem is consistency, you have to stick to the medication whether you hate taking it or not. The only other thing anyone here can advise is Clearasil, Neutrogena, along with scrubbing your face, etc. There is no silver bullet.

I can however say that I know a guy who's face looks like my foot but he is buff as shit and still has a good personality so his fugly face doesn't affect his luck with the ladies.

You're probably just genetically doomed to have it. Some people are just fucked when it comes to the biological lottery.

It would help to know your age, though. If you're under 20 just stop whining and wait it out. Testosterone can cause a ton of acne, so you're obviously going to struggle with some from 12-20, maybe up to the mid 20s, while your body is still producing a lot of hormones. A medication that can counteract this is called cyproterone acetate, ask your dermatologist about it if you've never heard of it.

If you're like going on 30 and still have bad acne, you're likely just genetically fucked.

OP here, recently turned 19. Also, the fact that I began working out a few weeks ago might have something to do with this. I hope to fuck this doesn't mean I have to stop now. :(

You could try the oil cleansing method, which uses oil to dissolve the old hardened oil stuck in your pores. It's better for your skin then lots of soaps, which strip your skin of oil and causes the skin to over react and produce more oil than it should.

You're too young to discredit the "it's natural" explanation. Contrary to popular (read: ignorant) beliefs, puberty does not immediately come to a grinding halt at age 18. It can last until the late twenties in some people. Remember, puberty is like an alarm clock and some people's clock is naturally set to go off later. I've known a few guys who graduated highschool at like 5'6", scrawny as hell, and unable to get anything more than peach fuzz on their chins, then they had a massive puberty spike in their 20s.

My solutions for now:

Ask your dermatologist about cyproterone acetate.

Wash your face WELL twice a day, in addition to a shower. Do not use soap to wash, ever. Get a 5 or 10% salycillic acid facial wash, then after that wash it again with some type of rejuvenating facial wash (preferably one of those ones with microbeads in it and vitamin E...might feel like washing your face with sand, but it's incredibly healthy and smooth afterwards).

Wash your bedding once a week. ALL of it.

Keep your hair (if long enough) out of your face as much as possible.

Don't touch your face unless it's an emergency (IE, holy fuck there's a giant wasp on my cheek).

Don't let sweat dry into your face. If you're sweaty, at LEAST rinse with water within 15 minutes after you stop working out.

Best thing I ever did. My story was the same as yours OP, but after two courses of accutane (I took sortret) I'm fairly under control. I still get a couple of pimples every once in a while. Right now I had a minor breakout (3 pimples) due to spending the weekend at a friends (oh how my hygiene suffered) and from switching to a benzoyl peroxide face wash.

My tips (besides accutane):
-Wash your face in the morning and evening
*wash with warm (not hot) then rinse with cold water to close your pores
*find a face wash that's good for you. Salycillic acid and Benzoyl peroxide are both good. I'm switching to Peroxide due to it's antibacterial qualities. Low concentrations are good (2.5%). Anything higher can irritate your skin.
*MOISTURIZE with a non-comedogenic moisturizer (cetaphil) after every washing
*If your face gets too red and dry then switch to washing once a day then rinsing with water the other (still moisturize)
-stop drinking milk, the hormones in it can fuck your face. I had this problem
-Wash your pillowcase regularly
-Don't touch your face, ever.

Just keep in mind that too much handling can irritate your skin, then you'll break out and end up at square one. I really do recommend accutane still.

Most men don't develop the ability to properly grow facial hair until their into their mid twenties. This doesn't mean that there is a strong chance that the rest of puberties "bonuses" will happen, too.

I had acne when I was 22. I tried lots of stuff too but ultimately what cleared it up was facial steaming, learning to use toner and moisturizer, and motherfucking tea tree oil. If a product has tea tree oil, I fucking use it. My facial wash has tea tree oil, my toner has tea tree oil, my moisturizer has tea tree oil. Hell, even when I do facial steaming, I put a few drops of tea tree oil in it.

I'm currently using the BodyShop line of TTO products, I'm not sure if you can get them in your country. Maybe you live in Khazhastan or something.

this isn't OP, i looked into cyproterone and it sounds interesting, but i would be too scared about getting man-boobs or erectile disfunciton. did you get any problems or side-effects from taking this? also, what dose did you take and for how long?

thanks.

DERP IT'S ALMOST LIKE I DIDN'T OFFER NON MEDICATED SUGGESTIONS.

Accutane is the only thing that worked for me after years of having painful acne and wasting money on other topical and oral medications. So I'd say in response to a post asking for advice for acne that has been resistant to other medications that it's fairly pertinent. Go eat a dick you disgusting cunt.

I was on a pretty high dose of accutane for several months when I was younger. It helped in that my acne wasn't disgustingly horrible afterwards, but it never did clear it up and I continued to have bad breakouts every few months. While I was on it I felt horrible. It is not by any means a wonder drug.
