how long do they last and is it normal for it to have a few brown spots?

Lol, my mom would even make our family eat bananas if they were a big brown/black mush. She'd just put them in our smoothies with some strawberries, milk and ice so we couldn't see them while we consumed them. Surprisingly, the more bruised and mushy the banana, the sweeter it is, so I suppose this all worked out okay.

The darker a banana gets, the more sugar the meat tends to develop, hence the reason for the sweeter taste. But in exchange for the sweeter taste, the benefits of the banana's nutritional value is lost.
