so what does /fit/ think about one legged SQUATZ as a replacement for not being able to go to the gym and using a lot of weights.
>> Anonymous
Pistols are good for balance, but its still not enough weight. I easily A2G squat 385 lbs at a weight of 160 lbs. Once I figured out the balance issue and worked at it for a 2 weeks, 20 reps was nothing.

Shut up, what are you, an elite athlete for squatting 2,5 times your weight?
>> Anonymous
>>199071

Naw I wouldn't say that, I've just been Crossfitting for several years now. It's more of a philosophical thing really. I want to be a jack-of-all-trades in everything I do, from athletics to education to life experiences.
>> Anonymous
>>199078
That would've been possible a few centuries ago, but now you can't keep up with everything.
>> Anonymous
>>199080

Agreed. It's hard and I know I'll never be near expert levels on most things, the goal is to just take in as much of the human experience as I'm capable of attaining.

>>199078

Crossfit. Pssht. You're putting up competitive PL numbers there, if real, and PLers sure as hell don't work type I slow-twitch muscle fibers like cross-fitters with their light weights and emphasis on endurance. You can't train for type I and type II both and be any good at either.

In other words, go bullshit some dudes that don't fucking lift. You are not a Navy SEAL, 6'8" and a sports hero who turns rockstar in the off-season.
>> Anonymous
>>199091

I train more of a hybrid-strength Crossfit, but since you're so educated about training I doubt you wouldn't be aware of it. I'm not going to argue with you, I'm going to get some sleep.

op here...so whats the verdict?

>>199091

Lol you don't know shit about powerlifting, do you? A 380 lb squat at 160 is not competitive in a PL meet. It's respectable, but its more like close to the middle/bottom of the pack.

It's a bit of an exaggeration, although not much of one at a raw and drug-free state-level meet, but it gets the point across: Type I and Type II muscle fibers can't be trained for at the same time. It's bullshit that he says he's doing crossfit and heavy 1RMs together.

You're talking like a noob or have your info from t-nation cry baby hysteria from 4 years back. I don't crossfit now myself, but if you lurked their front page right now, you'll find TWO 1RM workouts (ok just one 1RM workout and another heavy singles split) in 14 of their daily posts. Crossfit is great for all around fitness, but obviously they can't compete with a dedicated powerlifting program like Westside at developing strength. Hell, even Rippletoe likes CF. Their coach Glassman and him are great friends. Don't put a program down by saying they can't when they obviously do. If you don't like it, just say so. My goals have changed a lot over 5 years of training, from wanting to be bodybuilder XBOX OMG HUEG to getting strong for football to wanting to compete in a triathlon, so I've been all over the fitness spectrum. CF is a solid program, so don't knock it with half-informed statements.

"Five rounds for max reps of:
Body weight bench press
Pull-ups" (all kipped, of course)

"Three rounds of:
Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps)
Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (Reps)
Box Jump, 20" box (Reps)
Push-press, 75 pounds (Reps)
Row (Calories)"

Oh, lol. Just fucking lol. Are you having fun push-pressing 75 lbs while defending how great Cross-fit is for 1RM, you bitch?

"For time:
50 Sit-ups
50 Double-unders
50 Sit-ups
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Sit-ups
50 Burpees
50 Sit-ups"

Why not throw some jumping jacks into that killer maximal strength workout you got there?

Finally, from the mouths of the masters themselves:

"CrossFit’s work enhancing sport performance, while exciting and even gratifying, sometimes feels too much like helping adults play children’s games." -- Glassman

Yeah, you said it all, Greg. Everything about Crossfit is like a shiny new child's toy that fascinates the trendy crowd with its novelty, but goes nowhere.

I knew you're willfully ignorant or you'd misrepresent the truth on purpose, so I had these copy&pasted. You're not impressing anyone with your ADVANZED L1FTAR NALLEDGE, so quit while you're ahead and go back to doing your pathetic 150 lb back squatz.

Dude, jumping in here, you seriously have your head up your ass. I just went to crossfit.com and found the max attempt sessions in like 2 seconds.

Pic related, it's the weight they're using for those singles.

>and go back to doing your pathetic 150 lb back squatz.

Pathetic? Looks like a fucking WOD to me, so I guess you're right. I figure, the way you defend cross-fit, squatting 150 lbs makes you want to jizz in supreme pleasure, crossfit boy.

I'm>>199239, you seem to hold a grudge against CF for reasons I'm not so clear about, but I'm pretty sure you're a puny little faggot that's jealous of>>199068's numbers. And I also know you're trolling, because you don't have an argument without resorting to taking things out of context. So, in essence, I see what you did there, so fuck off.

I saw it, too, but it's still one WOD out of a bajillion that aren't 1RM. Why pick the one that bucks the overwhelming trend?

Seems like you're butthurt over someone being better than you. So I'll break this down for you meathead, that guy is better at something than you that he doesn't even specifically train for, while you're still pathetically weak on a Westside program. I think I understand now what you're all about. Cry moar whiner
>> Anonymous
>>199283

Well, there's 14 total entry logs, and 3 of them are rest days, so we're left with 11 total days devoted to training. Of those days, 2 workouts are dedicated towards heavy single lifts, which makes 19% of their training heavy lifting. And this is just from observing the page right now. I'd say the trend is that they actually do a LOT of heavy lifting for a general physical preparedness program.
>> Anonymous
>>199287

No. Internet lifts bore me, so I don't pay attention to them. He probably does lift 385 pounds, I will grant you that, just that it's all flab hanging off his torso.

Crossfit is a pretty cool guy, eh squatz a lot and doesn't afraid of T-nation.
