Hello /fit/, I am a hikikomori and have been one for about 5 years
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikikomori

I'm 6'4 and about 290lbs with virtually no muscle.
I'm almost 21 and would like to get my life together before my birthday and before my parents kick me out.

In the past several weeks, I've been eating healthier and eating less. I've been doing squats, crunches, and push ups(on my knees, it hurts my back and midsection when i try to do it on my feet.) And I've been feeling better since I started. I used to have horrible back pain, now I don't have it anymore, and I'm feeling stronger.

My weight has barely changed and its probably because I'm not doing any cardio. I want to start jogging tomorrow morning (I doubt I can run, my thighs rub together when I walk), I'll be sleeping earlier tonight so I can get up earlier to go out and jog.

So I have some questions for you guys. How long should I jog for? I've read that jogging 30-45 minutes is actually not enough and that it would have to be at at least an hour. Do I jog continuously or can I take breaks? Do I jog until I collapse or can't move anymore? Should I jog before or after I eat breakfast? Is it okay for me to jog in the morning and then again at night? Is it wise to jog one day until I'm exhausted and then jog again the next day? And also, are there any websites you guys can recommend for me to visit?

Thanks in advance for the help. I'll be visiting /fit/ often, hope you guys don't mind me asking these questions. I'm also googling information and just wanted to hear your input.

Do I jog continuously or can I take breaks?

Warm up, stretch, job continuously (if you're able to), stretch, cool down, stretch (I don't do the last two unless I've really exerted myself).

Do I jog until I collapse or can't move anymore?

Realistically, just get in a tough workout. Push yourself to the limit in races, if you plan to do that, but going to exhaustion everyday will just lead to perpetual fatigue and may cause you to lose interest in running.

Should I jog before or after I eat breakfast?

Running before breakfast maximizes fat loss.

Is it okay for me to jog in the morning and then again at night?

Yes, if you're able to.

Is it wise to jog one day until I'm exhausted and then jog again the next day?

Definitely, always run the day after a very tough workout (but aim for recovery, not a real workout).

And also, are there any websites you guys can recommend for me to visit?

I don't know of any.

I'm an inexperienced runner, but hopefully this can help.

>push ups(on my knees, it hurts my back and midsection when i try to do it on my feet.)

wow. just...wow. anyways, what's your goal? To be good at running? To lose weight? Or just to feel better? At your current stage these are all more or less similar, but there'll be a point where you'll want to codify your goals more.

@ an unathletic 290 you'll have trouble jogging for a half hour straight. You have to start somewhere, obviously you think you know about diet, but that should be the first stage (ie 6 meals a day @ -500 maintenance calories w/ a 40/40/20 spread or so, it all depends on what you want). Running is good, and once your start being able to jog a couple miles without having an aneurysm you should look up HIIT (high intensity interval training).

All your questions at the end? It's all just worry. As long as you're going running, you're doing better. Obviously you want to 'lolmaximize' but tbh just go out and fucking run. Personally, I have a piece of fruit before I run in the morning, then when I'm done with my morning warm up I'll have a big breakfast. Running after you eat the most important meal of the day is just asking for trouble. What you'll probably find out (about running TOO much) is that there's this thing called shinsplints, and it sucks. So you'll want to work into a schedule, rather than starting off at 100 mph.

You know (or will know) your own body. You can jog twice a day, we're not supposed to be sedentary creatures. You can jog 2, 3, 8 days in a row. It all depends on your body, though, and what it can handle.

Try eating a low-carb (high protein -- and don't be afraid of the fat either) diet -- take a look at the Atkins book, or _Protein Power_. Keep doing weight lifting that involves large muscle groups, like squats. The pushups are fine too. Try to move toward doing them on your feet.

Don't think cardio is necessary too soon -- start with walking -- you don't want to injure yourself.

>Get a job
I actually got one and didn't show up to work on the first day. Pretty bad huh?

>Get some friends which you dont speak through a messenger to
I've forgotten how to make friends. I don't have any friends anymore :O

>Stop being greedy
I'll try

>Stop being lazy
I've been called that a alot, and for a long time. It just stuck to me that I accepted it and never tried to change.

>Stop relying on your parents for everything your 21 your fuck
It'll change soon and wasn't always like this, I had my first job at 14 and was working after school paying for my own food and school supplies.

>Act more confident and speak to people in PERSON
dont think you can take "magic pills" or meds to make the situation better
I've never considered to take pills or drugs to help my situation. But yeah, I don't have any confidence in myself and I have very low self-esteem, been that way for as long as I remember.

>you did this to yourself
:( yeah I suppose. First time really anyone said anything like that. Other people try to get me to see a therapist and shit.
