/fit/ this is my first post ever. I am 23 and in the worst shape of my life. Not that Im fat or anything, in fact im tiny. The problem is that im so small framed and thin that im unable to wear normal size clothes, date normal size girls, do anything really normal. I have let myself go (eating lots but not working out) in hopes of gaining weight, but really all that translated to is some belly fat. I just want to be able to add some inches to my chest, shoulders, neck, abs, arms, etc, just so i can wear normal sized clothes or at least not feel like the scrawniest person alive.
I guess i need motivation and a plan. I have a full set of resistance bands with grips (bodylastics) but i dont have easy access to any gyms. I only eat about 1200 calories daily now, and im sure i should increase this. Can you recommend a weight gain strategy as well? Any help appreciated.

My chest list like 32 inches at most, and a 29-30 waist last time i measured.

do whatever you can to get into a gym. perhaps you can go to the local highschool when classes get out. It will make bulking much easier. If that isn't possible, you can still do it, but its going to be harder and probably take longer.

Get access to a gym, you'll never put on significant amounts of bodyweight with just elastic bands

eat 3000 calories a day. Eat 200 grams of protein.
And work out and do HIIT

You need a lot of protein. Just working out without eating enough protein will actually HURT your attempts to put on mass.

So yeah. Get to a gym (or buy yourself a nice set of free weights) but also make sure to get a LOT of protein. You're probably malnourished if you're really only eating 1,200 calories a day.

I had the same problem, only I was actually on the verge of being referred to a weight treatment facility. Modify your workouts to include some heavy lifting, and eat PLENTY of protein. I personally get my protein through eggs now ( I eat twelve per meal minus the yokes), but when I was scrawnier I used to drink up to three RTD 51's a day. They are rather expensive, but it worked for me. 150 grams of protein a day just from those drinks helped me dodge the treatment programs.

thanks guys. i think i am pretty much malnourished, and its mainly because i dont really know how to eat right with my limited resources. I have a foreman grill, a microwave, and a minifridge. I can only go shopping once a week, and i cant fit a whole lot of stuff in my small fridge. Are those protein powders really nasty with milk? Can pushups/pullups/situps and free weights really make a difference if i up my calorie/protein intake? How long would it take to see results if i work out 3-4 days?

Are you living in a cubby hole? Can't you find a place with a real fridge and a cooking stove at least? Or use someone elses.. a friend's perhaps?
And why can't you get access to a gym? I'm not questioning your sincerity, I just want to know what your situation is.
If you're really poor, which it would seem you are by your situation, maybe that should be your first priority: get a job and a decent apartment.
It would make gaining weight so much easier.
