Exercise physiologist reporting in.
There are conflicting studies about the effect of dietary factors in acne control. Some have found that diet has a positive effect, and some studies have found no effect. Since you're a wannabe scientist, you automatically jump to conclusions, which science is NOT about. A real scientist understands his limitations, and would say "the findings are inconclusive".
Science has a hard time understanding biological processes. The human body is still a mystery to us, in some senses. It's not like physics, where we can see what's going on inside. Hence, the conflicting reports.
Since science changes it's mind a lot in regards to nutrition, diet, and exercise, observation and experience are all that some are left with. As an empiricist, if I see something that works and science doesn't know the reason for why it works, it doesn't change the fact that it works.
Tl;dr- You're a wannabe scientist. Leave it to the pros. Which I am. And you're not.
