Hey /fit/,

Im 5'11, and have been hovering at about 150 lately, and that might be rounding up.

I had been running a lot lately, treadmills and what not. But I hadnt really worked on any real muscles. I had done pull ups every once and awhile and pushups, but no weights or anything, and the amount of the push/pull ups were never very stellar.

After working out with a friend, focusing on what felt like endless sets of push ups, then pull ups, with my friend helping out when my arms wouldn't move, I managed to crank out a ton reps, way past anything I would have been able to do without help. But the thing was, my arms were fucking doughy and felt tight afterwards.

Next day, my arms are half cocked, I'm walking around like John McCain and I can't straighten them out. I figure I just over worked them, and it takes about 3 days before my arms can straight out fully without any ill feelings, but the thing is, I can barely do any push ups or pull ups anymore, and what little strength I had is barely there at all now.

So what can I do? I mean, I used to be able to crank out a few push ups and pull ups but now I cant really do either at all, my arm just locks up. Did I fuck something up when I overworked it, or do I just need to try and work on something else?

tl;dr overworked my arms, now I feel way weaker because of it, start slow to build strength back up?

They will recover... gives you time to overwork your legs now...

Eat more protein, it will speed up your recovery.

Hueg amounts of protein and foodz within 2 hours of workout and you'll feel sore a lot faster and get better a lot faster too. I guess you should have flexed a bit more between sets too, and maybe do the last two reps with really slow negative phase.

Also get sleep and don't do the sets all the way until failure (being unable to do last rep). It overloads the nervous system and whatnot, it R poop and can cause BIG PAIN especially if you're not used to working out etc.

Cool, thanks for the tips /fit/. By flexing do you mean while doing a rest between a set I should take time to flex my muscles? And whats the negative phase?
