Dear /fit/, will deadlifts make me a badass?

Also related, what's better, overhand or mixed grip?
>> Anonymous
Adding to OP, do you switch grip sides when you do the next rep, or inbetween sets?
>> Anonymous
yes. and mixed.

Why's that? Better for fighting fatigue before you max out or something?
>> Anonymous
I've heard overhand for warmup and mixed for work sets, thougts?

Sounds feasible, but why warm up different from the way you lift?

Because your strength will increase more rapidly than your grip strength. At 250 lb, it was feasible to use a regular overhand grip, but now at 300 lb it's just plain impossible for me to hold on tightly enough without a mixed grip.

overhand gives out a better grip (grip strength) however, for most there comes a time, or weight, that you need to use mixed grip. overhand has 8 finger on one side of the bar, and only your thumbs on the other. so they give out. using a mixed grip is 5 fingers on each side. and you shoudl alternate which hand is forward and which is back. btw i've seen power lifters dead 780lb with an overhand grip.

tl;dr doesnt matter which grip, though over hand is slightly better until it's too hard to do. alternate hands when doing mixed grip

Mixed grip sucks in my opinion. Palms facing you is best.

whatever grip lets you lift the most weight is the best in the end.

why is that? please, inform us.

why also would you SHOUT this?

hey everyone. DONT mix grip unless you absolutely have to. this isnt competition. why develop asymmetries throughout the posterior chain/forearm? train overhand, get that grip stronger. use mixed grip for max effort attempts (1rms, etc)

and yes, i use my 'usual over hand grip' on deadlifts into the 400s.

i switch my grip every set i do, keeps me even.

If you alternate, then your point is moot.

Moot as in null, useless, not moot moot.

OP, shut up and just deadlift
