6'2 and 286 here... I'm pretty much tired of being fat, so this weekend I am signing up for a gym membership and am planning on going 2 hours a day. I need some tips on how to do this right though. Weight loss is my primary goal. My diet has been alot better then what it used to be (dropped from 306). How many meals a day should i be eating? Should i work out before or after meals? how many calories roughly should i be intaking if im trying to lose a lot of weight? What exercies should i specifically look at for losing weight? Is taking something like hydroxycut going to help? Appreciate any support you can give.

Do lots of cardio but only for about 30 mins at a time. Wait at least 2 hours before you exercise after a meal

Only eat when you're hungry, but don't stuff yourself. This should mean you eat about 4-5 small meals a day. And only eat healthily

Here are my recommendations (exercise science and nutrition student):

I'm glad your diet is better. 5 relatively small meals a day (300-400 calories apiece) is great for hunger management. So do that. Also, the simple truth of weight loss is that you need to burn more calories than you consume, so keep that in mind. When it comes to exercise, you will lose the most weight with the least likelihood of injury if you perform non-impact cardio exercises (stationary bikes, ellipticals, etc). Then, once you lose more weight, it will be safer (for your knees) to run, which is the fastest (and in my opinion, the most fun) way to lose weight. Hope this helps!

what about stuff like hydroxycut? Im willing to spend a few bucks if it will help out (will take recommendation on which one to use). Im not looking for a miracle weight loss pill but any extra help is nice

If you just started don't make dramatic changes in your lifestyle. This may sound like stupid advice but if you're less likely to stick to change if it's dramatic.

Do small things, and be realistic about your goals. Aim to loose about 50 pounds in 1 year, this is easily achivable.

Start going to the gym once a week, then after a month start going twice a week, ect. You should do about 4 days a week. Take. Things. Slowly.

Most fags try to do too much and when they fail they go back into old habbits.
