ITT tips on how not to look like a doucebag at the gym

- don't interrupt someone during their set
- don't hog a power rack while chatting for your friend for 10 minutes between your sets (especially if there is only fucking one in the place, god this annoys me)
- don't use the power rack for bicep curls
- don't just start using a bench or a bar just because no one is there (maybe they went to get a drink)
- FUCKING PUT THE WEIGHTS BACK ON THE RACKS!!!

So when exactly am I supposed to use the bar? Should I ask the entire gym if they are done using them?

Don't forget to wipe the equipment down after using it.

what the hell is a "power rack"? The dumb bell rack? Where am I supposed to get dumb bells to curl if not from there.
And if someone's talking, just go up and say, "mind if I use this bench while you're resting?" or if you're in a bad mood, "Are you going to talk or lift? I need this bench."
If you don't want someone using your bench while you're getting a drink, leave your towel or a weight on it.

By power rack do you mean the squat cage? Because that is the only place to do barbell bicep curls in some gyms. They're using it legitimately.

Now, if someone was doing push ups inside of it, then you have the right to complain.

Here is how not to be a douchebag:
Don't waste other peoples time
Don't criticize or interject into others sessions
Realize you're not the top shit and go around lording yourself over others by thinking only you know how to properly work out and then posting about how other people do it wrong.

Unless someone is really confused with how to do something, like adjust a seat, odds are just let them do their thing. If they're being cockheads and sitting on the bench while talking, then ask "How many sets you got left?" and they'll leave.

All the (percieved) safety of the smith, with normal advantages of free weights.

yes, i fucking hate it when some fat SOB uses it and dont wipe off the sweat, cuz this anon is big on hygienes.

- Dont ask a person how many sets they got left when they are in the middle of lifting.
- Dont pester people with questions on what supplements they are taking, etc.
- Dont stand in front of the weight rack when doing exercises.
- Dont bring your cellphone, jewlery, or friends (unless they know what to do) with you when you lift.
- If you get up, the bench is free game, dont expect it to be free when you come back.

eh. Some of the new Smith machines with rotating safeties have a lot going for them. Regular smith and cage can both still allow you to blow out your legs really easily if you're an idiot, which anonymous is.

PLUS - we should make it a rule that 99% of pics posted of people doing the exercise in question should be in shape females.

New /fit/fags should read this shit!

you should have at least a towel at the equipment you are using so that others know you are using it if you walk away for a drink.

I don't interrupt people in the middle of their sets, but i always will ask how many more sets they have if they are on something that I want to use. If they are fucking off and wasting time, then i will assholishly inquire if they are done, which gets them to promptly do a set or walk away.

And, agreed. Nothing worst then a gaylord leaving weights out or racking them wrong.
