Can you gain a lot of muscle and strength from pure grappling? (greco, freestyle, judo, BJJ, etc) or do you need to supplement it with a lot of heavy weight training?

I sure as hell did from wrestling. Most people due, but I also assume most of those people might work out, other wise I'm not sure if you could get as big as Ricardo Arona just from grappeling.

Non-tatted Arona?

lats: fucking EXPLODED,
quads/hams/calves: grew
biceps: grew
forearms: grew a little
triceps: stayed the same
traps: stayed the same
chest: shrunk

on a related note, I trained with sort of a bodybuilder mentality (balanced growth) prior to wrestling, and it was folk style wrestling I did, so your mileage may vary.

What happen to that guy? Like do you know if he's going to be fighting again? If he's going to compete in ADCC this year? Last time I saw of him was in a training vid of Filho before his fight with Sonnen, and he looked not only ripped, but like HUGE. He looked like he could have weighed almost in the lowmid 200's.

ALL grappling

you will definitely gain muscle and strength from just grappling, but if you want to win at a good level you HAVE to supplement it with weight training, unless you're some prodigy

My foreams and lats got a lot bigger, so did my legs. Everything else remained the same

(also neck got bigger...but that's a given for wrestling)
