Total Calories Burned = Duration in Minutes x ((MET x 3.5 x your weight in kg)/200).

you nee to determine the MET. each exercise or exercise machine has it's own MET. look them up in some database

which is why most machines are trustworthy, as they can determine the MET for any instant/level you are working at, and they calculate it constantly. I believe they use Watts for this.
