Hey /fit/. About how long should I wait to exercise after eating? I'm 215 (originally 230), trying to reach a target weight of 180 lbs. I'm 5' 11''. I usually try to consume about 1500 calories. Here's my basic eating schedule.
8am: 300 calories
11-12pm: 500 calories
3-4pm: 200 calories
6-7pm: 400 calories
10-11pm: 100 calories (cottage cheese)

I usually exercise after my "big" calorie meals (my 500 calorie and 400 calorie meals), but I'm wondering when the best time to go exercise is. I usually wait about 1-2 hours before exercising. Discuss please.

Only 1500 calories?

Man you'll lose weight, and you'll cannibalize all your muscle. At 215 I'd get AT LEAST 2000/day, 2500 if you're lifting/running daily (5x week).

I usually wait about 30min-1hr, depending on the meal size.

Eh with such small meals you might not really need more than 10-20 minutes between eating and cardio. The old rule of thumb is 30 minutes, doubt you'd need more than that.

As a guy at my gym says though, the best possible time of the day to exercise is the time when you'll actually consistently feel like exercising.

hey OP, I'm 6'4" and 203 lbs.. I tried that.. DONT DO IT.. I thought I was losing weight but I got down to 187 lbs and I was just losing muscle.

1500 cals is for office workers that sit on their ass all day, if you actually do strength training and sick cardio sessions, PLEASE EAT!

Watch after a week or two you'll feel and look great and then just keep it up. Just put good foods in you. I eat whenever i want but I just make sure it's healthy as fuck and decent portions.

OP here, thanks for the great advice. I'm sure my caloric intake ranges... on days when I'm doing alot of bulking and steady cardio, I'll probably eat around 1800-2000 calories. On my rest days or my only cardio days, I'll take it easier and have 1500 calories. The thing is, I'm consistently losing about 1 lb a week, which I hear is the healthiest. But yah, thx for the tips.

Hey OP, yeah that's a good pace to lose weight. I've had odd weeks myself ranging from 2-8 lbs.. but the last 4-5 months I'm at 1-2 lbs.. keep it up man, but eat enough... would suck that what you are losing is muscle.
