I read somewhere on the net that when you're on a healthy diet, it's actually good to eat crap one day a week. Had something to do with making your metabolism work harder or something like that. I'm not sure I buy that, but I'm no food expert. So, bullshit or not?

Don't know about physical benefits, but it can be psychologically quite useful if you are used to eating shit but then go on a healthy diet it is nice to have 1 cheat meal a week or whatever. Otherwise you're more likely to have a sudden binge of the shit food and then give up on dieting.

Mostly bullshit. It's called a cheat meal, and it's mostly to help decadent fatty fucks when they realize they won't be eating fried foods much anymore.

Yeah, cheat meal, that's what they called it. Well, if it doesn't help, I'm not gonna do it. I know I'll have a crap food binge if I do it, as it happened 2 times already in the past.

I don't know if it's been medically proven but it helped me quite a bit in losing 50 lbs. Eating less calories slows your metabolism because your body gets used to not processing as much. Throwing a huge caloric load in every once in a while will cause your metabolism to jump, but then if you continue to eat healthy afterwards it helps you. I'm not talking about a cheat day though.

So like, if you eat 1.2k calories a day, eat something 1.6k once a week or so?

The cheat meat kindof resets your metabolism and prevents it from plateauing. I cheat once a week every week by going to mcdonalds or something. Usually after a workout.

i dont think eating poop is very healthy

1.2k is way too low. I'd say more like eat 1.6k and once a week eat 2k. I'm not saying cheat a whole day, but throw a high calorie meal in every now and then.

I did this weekly when I lost 50 lb one summer. I think its beneficial because it kept my metabolism from slowing, and you could tell my body hated digesting it given how the stool looked like after.

Yeah, once you start eating healthy and you have some fastfood you realize that it doesn't taste that great and it fucks up your stomach for a day.

I started tracking my calories on a site and it said if I want to lose 2 lbs/week I have to be around 1.5k.I end up consuming like 1.4k (just not hungry anymore. |: ) and with what I burn off it's 1.2k ish.

Eating one high calorie meal of shit food every week is not going to do much to a sagging metabolism. Besides, you could get the same effect by eating healthy. Just eat a lot.

Cheat meals DO NOT help you physiologically. They're for psychological reasons only, and they do hinder your progress. I'm not against cheat meals, but i do find it funny how people will try to justify eating pizza as good for you.

I'll have you know good sir, that when I was new to weightloss and kicking down 50 lb over the span of 2 months on my own by eating close to shit nothing and running every day, that cheat meal on the weekend kept me from going into the mythical starvation mode.

Whole Wheat Pita (Thomas's) + Organic Ragu + Soy Cheese shreds + Turkey Pepperoni + Toaster Oven = Healthy Pizza anytime anywhere.

There is no need for a "cheat meal" in the 21st century unless you are both uncreative and mentally weak. There are TONS of low cost options to eat much healthier versions of your favorite foods without sacrificing taste.

I mean fuck, have you ever tasted soy ice cream? Shit is better than the real thing.

There is this notion that you have to hate how everything tastes for it to be good for you, but that's not the case at all. Just do some fucking research and stop torturing yourselves.

I'm trying to gain weight, and I get 2500 calories a day with a low GI, low nitrate, low cholesterol, low sodium, nutrient rich, zero saturated fat diet that includes hamburgers, cookies, candy, pizza, ice cream, and the works.

Google, Whole Foods, and your local farmer's market are your friends, use them.

If you're eating very low carb (and i mean sub-100grams per day.) to keep your performance up in the gym you'll need to top-off your carbs periodically, on the order of about 200 grams or so once a week in addition to post-work out recovery carbs. The danger with full-on Keto diets is your thyroid function can tank severly which will make you feel drained and worn out.

Now; some people re-carb on bad shit. If that floats your boat one day a week will NOT impact your diet in any significant way. It's when you do it all day every day that you're on the fast track to becoming a fatty.

I feel better on low carbs and when I eat simple carbs I feel awful afterwards. I find it's helpful to do it once a week to remind myself what I'm NOT missing.

On a healthy diet, or just having a healthy diet?

I went from 196 to 130 when I was 14, and then ate out one-two times a week. I did about 30-45 min of cardio, five times a week. I ate healthy the rest of the week... I never gained fat anymore after that.
