Healthy amounts of sleep Anonymous
Let's assume, hypothetically, I'm underage b&. Let's say I'm 17.

On average, I get about 4-5 hours of sleep. I usually go to sleep around 2AM. I pretty much need to get up at 6AM Monday through Friday, and on weekends I need to be awake by at least 11AM.

I know it's pretty unhealthy for me, but by this point I think I'm so used to doing it that I can't go to sleep at any other time, unless I'm really just exhausted and I fall asleep during work/school hours.

What can I do to change by body's schedule? I've tried just laying in bed and staring at the ceiling but that never works. It's just a much more boring way to spend time until it gets to be 1-2AM.

Stop taking caffeine or anything else to unnaturally extend your waking hours. If you can't remain awake by your body's own will you shouldn't be up.

Notice when you fall asleep. Average person needs about 8 hours to be fully rested, but you can comfortably get away with cutting an hour or so. Also, try to start your sleep schedule on the weekends where you have more time.

do you exercise? if you don't try thirty minutes of exercise in the morning and see if it helps get you to sleep sooner.

if you do and you do it late in the afternoon or evening try moving it to the morning and see if that helps.

You will mess yourself up pretty bad if you keep this up.
I used to do the same thing when I was at school and caught glandular fever. I was out of school for 2 months, it took a year to even get close to the fitness level I was at, and my average test scores went from 80%-90%~ down to 50-60%~. I also became depressed and apathetic to every single thing in the world.
You don't want this shit. Just sleep a little more, there will always be tomorrow to do shit.

TL;DR: just sleep faggot, it's not that hard.

Ugh, I feel your pain man. I'm a sophmore majoring in CS at a pretty tough school. A couple weeks ago I was a little behind on some work, no big deal, ill make it up. Then I got this epic flu thing and spent an entire week only getting out of bed to puke, I got better this Sunday, since then I have gotten a total of about 6 hours of sleep, ive been pulling all nighters writing code, studying for calc tests, etc. Its right before spring break so all the midterms are coming in. I swear my arms have shrunk an inch in these two weeks....im still the most ripped guy in my department, though with CS that isnt a huge accomplishment

Seriously, listen to the advice that has been given to you. Otherwise you might become really depressed, getting uncontrollable mental breakdowns isn't that fun.

Get the fuck off the computer.

Seriously.

You'll start sleeping naturally in two weeks.

enjoy giving yourself delayed sleep pattern disorder. It won't bother you in school/college (much), but when you have to be at work at 8 or 9, feeling like you have a permanent 2 hours of jet-lag (because you can't sleep before 2-3am) will fucking suck.

I used to have incredibly fucked up sleep patterns from being a WoWfaggot.

Around 11pm, stop what you're doing and watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report, assuming you don't have anything else to do (like cram or finish a lab report or something). After Colbert finishes, sleep. Turn this into a ritual.

Get some exercise. Like, a lot. Get your body tired and go to bed earlier.

DO IT NOW

It's funny because this is exactly what I do. I turn my computer off at 10 so I'm not tempted to get back up and chat with friends, watch the two shows and maybe the 10 minutes it takes for the hockey highlights on The Score, then turn my TV off and sleep. Then I wake up at 7.
