So, what is /fit/'s opinion on low-carb/ketogenic diets?

Picture related, as it is a perfectly low-carb meal.

Low carb/no carb is a fad. The only thing that matters is counting calories and exercising.

Some say it's not healthy if you do for long. no carbs = no energy

pretty much agreed.
Cutting carbs = cutting calories.
Replacing carbs with protein = still a net loss of calories.

But I do think carbs should be a touch limited at night, but maybe thats just how my body reacts to them.

Cutting carbs is a great way to lose weight BUT ONLY FOR SHORT TERM. Carbohydrates is what your body looks to first for energy. So in the long run (4 months plus) low carb dieting can result in quick fatigue, apathy, and increased LDL cholesterol levels due to a higher intake of all things meat. True story: my mother has been on the low carb Atkins type diet for over 2 years, and has lost a healthy 50+ lbs, which is awesome. How ever her cholesterol has risen by 20 points from 180 to 200.
Personally I think the best diet is a the one that works for you!
