Calculate calorie need using calculator taking into acct. age, exercise, height. Calculate calorie intake through foodstuffs by using a calorie counter, lots of these on the web. Match these two while not losing variety in food so you get all essential nutrients. Now you have the perfect diet. You probably don't need a special diet for bodybuilding, so don't worry about getting so and so many proteins or fat or carbs, just the calories.

Sounds totally retarded. Even if you do buy the low fat is better for you thing, you should be doing it by proportion of calories from fat rather than by mass.
>> Anonymous
>>449302
is it true that its pointless to even eat low fat foods since they jack up the calories or carbs?
>>449301
too fat ;[
>> Anonymous
>>449287
Don't do Alli. It's pointless because you should be doing it with proper diet and exercise. If you have proper diet and exercise, you don't need Alli.

What do you want in a diet? Structure, convenience, ease? Do you want to cook a lot? Do you want to avoid cooking? The trick is to find one that is both healthy and that you will stick with that will work for you. Don't go for the methods that sound too good to be true. Don't expect miracles. Expect to lose about 1% of your body weight a week and sometimes even less. Expect that your female hormones will have a lot of fun messing with the scale around certain times of the month. Ignore the scale and keep going.
>> Anonymous
>>449303
No, because you need both calories and carbs.
>> Anonymous
well
>> Anonymous
>>449303
Some low-fat foods do that. Some do not. You just have to learn how to read the labels and set boundaries for what you are looking for in a food.
>> Anonymous
youll need to tell me your weight if you want me help. ~ 5 more minutes.
>> Anonymous
>>449307
i don't rely on the scale because my weight fluctuates throughout the day so it just discourages me anyway. i do measurements every 10 days or so though.

as for my diet, i'm definitely looking for something easy and doesn't include a lot of cooking as that is not one of my strong points.
>> Anonymous
>>449308
And also not all low fat foods are high in calories or carbs. You could eat vegetables all day and have trouble getting enough calories.
>> Anonymous
>>449312
i dont see what my weight has to do with a meal plan exactly.
>> Anonymous
the key to finding your maintenance calories is knowing your current weight.
>> Anonymous
>>449325
That is true, but maintenance consumption is completely useless information if the OP wants to lose and not maintain weight. Also stop chubby chasing / attention whoring if you are the OP.
>> Anonymous
>>449315
If you do use the scale, only measure in the morning before you eat and after going to the bathroom. Measurements are best to monitor though.

Try checking out the slimfast website. They have something where you plug in foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. You can choose option with minimal cooking and back in the day when I tried it out, you didn't even have to use their nasty food.

Personally, I used Nutrisystem to get the 30 pounds off that I gained in college plus an extra 10 pounds taking me from a size 12 to a size 4. My fiance did it with me and he lost 60 pounds (men will lose a lot more easily). I liked it because it was convenient I was at school and work 13 hours a day so it was really nice to not have to bother with a lot of prep and grocery shopping. But it can be kind of pricey and some people really hate the food.

I'm not sure how much you have to lose, but if it is a decent amount you probably don't even have to follow a strict diet at all for a while. Just try to improve your diet by cutting out some of the bad things and adding good things. If you come to a standstill, then maybe worry about a strict diet.
>> Anonymous

You're cute op. Would definitely hook up with.

Your weight will determine the amount of calories you should aim for on a daily basis. But you can just use internet calculators for that and most diet sites will tell you after filling out a couple questions so you don't have to disclose your weight on here.

It was about $270 a month for the vegetarian plan plus you would have to get some additional food at the store like milk and fresh produce (about $10-20 a week).

There are sites though where you follow a similar plan with food you just buy comparable stuff at the grocery store that I'm sure is cheaper. I was just being lazy when I did it due to lack of time. If you go to http://www.plussizenow.com/ns/
and click on comparable breakfast, lunch, etc, there are similar foods found in the grocery store. At the bottom of each of these, it tells you what a meal is. Like for breakfast, it is one NS entree + fruit serving + protein serving. It is probably much cheaper to do it this way.

When I was using the slimfast site at the beginning of my college days, you could eat those for dinner with a salad and a whole wheat roll. I lost weight doing that. I just didn't stick to it for longer than a month, though. That was my problem with diets...sticking to it for a long time. They usually got thrown out of the window when I got too busy (I was majoring in chemistry as well as biology plus working as a data specialist for a marketing company). But had I stuck to it, I'm sure it would work as long as you eat some additional foods like fruits and veggies with it, and not just the meals themselves.
>> Anonymous
>>449374
As if counting calories is remotely hard. Everybody wants to be thin, but nobody wants to GET thin. Here's a secret: if you eat only healthy foods, especially vegetables, it's nearly impossible to overeat. You can't even comprehend the constant consumption that would be required. You don't even need to count calories when you eat healthy.

It will also fail because you can't be on some weird-ass martian feng shui corrected crystal energy vegetable diet for the rest of your life. Eating healthy is easy, but you have to take some time to learn it. You'll come to know the calories instinctively, like you don't have to count them any more after a while, but learning a new way of thinking about food is not something you can do overnight. Obeying some guru for a week and then crashing is, on the other hand.
>> Anonymous
just buy the light stuff. once you get used to the taste, switch to the fat free stuff.

the light stuff (other than salad dressing) is hardly noticeable at all.

vegetables have hardly any calories in them at all, eat lots of those. replace your sub sandwiches from subway with the veggie delight.
if you want your body to burn more fat you have to start building up muscle. so do weights and stuff when you can.
>> Anonymous
>>449380
i know that eating healthy is the best. but when you're a poor college student, its very hard to buy fruits and veggies and all healthy foods. the frozen meals are just cheaper and easier

You forgot the pyramids! Pyramid power is key. If you place your food in a Pyramid before consuming it, it will be pre-harmonized with the 538 Hz resonance of your DNA.

>>449384vegetables have hardly any calories in them at all, eat lots of those.
+ a million. People fail to eat healthy because it's mid-afternoon and they just want to eat some chips or have a coffee with millions of additives. The trick is to schedule your meals to make you pre-emptively full. You'll be like, "God damn, I'm tired of eating all the time." Veggies are so low-calorie that you'll be full and tired of chewing before you manage to overeat.
>> Anonymous

Eating healthy foods is healthier. A vegetarian can eat rice, Doritos, and Pepsi and still be vegetarian. Or a person can eat lots of vegetables, beans, peanuts, and some meat, and actually be healthy. There's no trick to this. Whether you eat meat or not, you've got to eat right.

>> Anonymous

You can still be fat and vegetarian if you don't eat properly. Usually just because it is so easy to overeat carbs. I am vegetarian and really watch what I eat. I am 5'5", weigh 130 pounds, size 4, and 18% body fat. I get my blood tested every year to test nutritional deficiency and I have yet to have a problem.

On the otherhand, my sister is vegan. She does not pay attention to what she eats and eat a lot of those super-processed vegan foods. She is my height at 170 pounds and a size 14. Don't know about her BF%.

TL:DR - Vegetarian diet or not, you still need to watch what you eat.

lol i know you. you live in new york.

sorry what's a four miles a day tape?

basically, in order to burn fat, you need to build muscle. muscle burns fat. you need to do weight training.

try running prior to breakfast to lose weight.

so run before breakfast each day. then eat "half a breakfast" and another half-breakfast between that meal and lunch. then eat "half a lunch" and another half lunch in the mid afternoon, then eat a low-fat but protein rich "half dinner", then do weight training, and have another half-dinner after weights. then go to sleep.

it might seem hard to eat 6 half-meals a day and workout twice. but just take the food to work/school or wherever with yourself, and keep up the routine for just a month. see how it goes.

I lived in nyc for 5 years. I miss it because I went back to school in Michigan. Anyway, it was really easy for me to be my ideal/underweight. I would walk everywhere usually between 7-10 miles a day, and I never had to join a gym. Now, I gained 30 lbs because I have to fucking drive and I drank too much beer because i hate this fuckign state. now i had to join a gym to get back into shape I've lost 15lbs so far and I'm gaining a ton of muscle.

so it isn't as though you are naturally prone to being heavily overweight. that's good. what do you think of the ideas i gave earlier here:>>449462? could you do that for maybe just a few weeks?

also eat a lot of fiber (vegetables) not many carbs, and not red meat but fish (especially tuna) for protein. eat some carbs before weight lifting though. cottage cheese is also a not-so-bad food to include a bit off with your breakfast perhaps, to make your diet substantial enough to not starve :)

I have a weight lifting regimen. I have been incorporating more cardio because I was hoping to do a 5k in the spring.

I changed my diet drastically. I have been eating high fiber and flaxseed also. I love fish and eat it at least 2 times a week. I also love broccoli so I eat alot of that.

and you shouldnt worry so much about your weight. some girls are just bigger girls..its in your genes wether you like it or not so just accept it and learn to be sexy and happy even with a little extra weight. theres tons of guys out there who arent so shallow as to deny tou just because of your weight.

Get rid of bad habits before anything else.

1. No more carbonated beverages. Drink water instead. You will save money and it will make a big difference health wise in the long run.

2. Drastically lower your sugar intake. That means no more candy.

3. Cut out the fast food. Aim for something like once a month or less.

Once you've taken care of all the big nonos start with the little things.

1. Eat breakfast every day

2. Find some fruit and vegetables that you like and eat those instead of cookies or whatever.

etc.

Better yourself one step at a time.

And remember. If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.
