sup guys,

question about caffenine and weight loss, i'm currently a fatty shedding weight with a current routine but a couple of gym hands have said i should be completly be cutting out caffine...

my only vices as far as this is going is 3 cups of english-breakfast tea a day (no milk) and a 500ml of coke zero when i get home.

am i sabotaging myself with these 4 beverages a day?

The best way to lose weight is to do so within tolerable limits. I can easily cut out every vice from my diet. But at the end of the week, my cheat meal turns into an orgie of eating. However, I'm finding that one small cheat meal per day keeps me from binging at the end of the week.

Moral of the story, you can lose weight with your caffeine vice. However, for optimal results, cut it out if you can.

Tea is fine, cut out the coke. Even with zero sugar, that stuff is a killer.

Assuming you don't put any sugar in the tea, then your daily tea intake accounts for something like 2-3 calories, so don't worry about that. Also, the coke zero won't hurt you at all, at least not directly...

However, please keep this in mind. Coke zero is sweet. When your body ingests something sweet, your brain expects a high-calorie overload. It's genetically wired into us as before the advent of artificial sweeteners, things that were naturally sweet tended to be high in sugars and therefore calories. So, drinking coke zero will trigger this effect and your body will start doing its thing. Not finding any energy, you are liable to start getting extremely hungry for no reason and you might start binging on stuff you would normally leave alone.

For instance, when I drink coke zero I start getting hunger pangs about 10 minutes afterwards. This is despite the fact that I'm eating six meals a day. Consequently, I've removed junk food from my house minus coke zero.

Hope this helps.

yeah, no sugar. I'm thinking of swopping over to green-tea as well.

i think i know what you mean anon, i do get those pangs but just thought it was cos i was hungry before dinner... hmmm

I just really like the taste of coke zero, but if you guys think i should drop it then i will, perhaps swopping it for another cup of green tea.

tea without sugar is great. I drink green tea. sometimes 1 cup a day, sometimes (if im at home) 8.

But yeah, ditch the coke. Even with sweetener, theres nothing in it that will do you any good.

I have a diet coke of some sort every night with dinner, and have been doing so for many, many years. I started to lose weight in January, and I still am, and I'm pretty much fun. I guess that study that it makes you hungrier doesn't work on me, but meh.

Does aspartame really give you cancer?

if those are your only vices your doing wicked good.

stick at it, you will fail without a little pleasure in there, if you can bare the taste of coke zero, then keep with a can of that, caffeine will not do anything to your weight just you health (heart rate, BP stuff like that)

7 cans a week, equally spaced is barely anything.

Don't let the complete diet Nazi's get to you.

i doubt the coke affects your weight much, but if you're worried about it still, consider trying those tiny little 237ml cans. i have one (ok, sometimes 2) of those a day, and really it satisfies my sweet tooth enough to keep me from binging on snacks all day long.

the tea is all good, but try to drink a cup of water for every cup of tea, since it can dehydrate you

but you must piss like a racehorse. my god, i'm going every 20 minutes if i just have one cup of tea

Tea is fine, do not drink the coke
>> Anonymous
The tea is fine, in fact pretty good for you unless you're dumping ridiculous amounts of sugar or artificial sweeteners in it(which are absolutely horrible for you, and are in all of the low/no calorie sweet diet drinks). Ditch the Coke if you can, chug a glass of water if you start wanting one so you're not thirsty.

well i think it's now accustomed so it's pretty much on the hour now, dunno if thats good or bad

seconded for great justice

Diet soda is not that fucking bad. No calories, carbs, sugar, fat, etc. I drank at least three bottles of Diet Mountain Dew everyday for the duration of my diet and still managed to lose a ton of weight.

Or, just drink prune juice or the eurofag tea shit and fail your diet completely within a week.

theres no evidence that artificial sweeteners are harmful in reasonable doses

I should also add, if you're accustomed to consuming a lot of caffeine routinely, DO NOT FAST FROM THAT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT.

Like I said, stick to diet sodas (anti-articificial sweetener fags gtfo) or straight black coffee.

You will already hate your life trying to diet from normal stuff; but if you cut caffeine out, it makes things 20 times worse and you will not succeed.

op here, thanks guys. I think ill stay away from the coke as it's all chemicals anyway. Green tea to replace it as well, thanks again.
