sup /fit/,
my gf is away at college and I visited her recently. Shes basically been gaining weight and eating poorly. Its mostly in her leg/thigh that I've noticed. When I was there I gave her shit for wanting ice cream, which she got anyway and told me to just accept her and be nice. But then she complains about how she looks... I'm kinda at a loss as to what to do.

well it's this or accept it, make your choice

Punch her in the face every time she attempts to grab a piece of disgusting processed food.

Well the decision you have to make here is how much do you care about her gaining some weight? Most girls gain weight when they go to college, but that doesn't mean it's okay. You can either man up and tell her that she's being an idiot by complaining about her weight and then eating bad, or you can try to avoid confrontation and let her gain a little weight.

The strategy I use to prevent my girl from eating shitty is I act like I'm concerned about her health and that eating fatty foods will hurt her.

kill her, make bacon from her fat pig thighs
>> Anonymous
she is not going to change unless she really wants to, tell her to quit feeling sorry for herself and commit to some losing weight...or just leave the fucking fatty and destroy her selfesteem along the way
>> Anonymous
How much weight? If it's just thick weight than leave it alone, but if it's "Holy shit, you're becoming obese!" then do something about it.
>> Anonymous
Sure it's not because she's pregnant?

cut off sex till she loses weight...tell her she disgusts you when she gets naked and to lose some fucking weight

Its not much, like I said, just in her thigh that I've noticed it. And I understand the whole 'freshmen 15', with her being in a dorm and only having limited access to food, but her dorm is less than 5 minutes from the school gym and she doesnt go. She was going up the stairs (9 floors) instead of the elevator, but I think that's since stopped :/

"The strategy I use to prevent my girl from eating shitty is I act like I'm concerned about her health and that eating fatty foods will hurt her."

I'd go with this. I always like illustrations more than nagging, so my plan would be to ask her to a nice trail hike or jog of considerable length then when she gets winded just offer to help her cook some meals or maybe you'd accompany her to the gym to show her that the big scary looking machines really aren't all that bad.

If anyone has a problem with my tone: we're not talking about a woman in her mid-30's. This is a girl in college. I remember what I was like when I was 18...and I could have used some guidance also.

So she's putting on the "Freshman 15", huh?

>>just accept her and be nice
lol, you try putting on some weight and see how receptive she is to that shit. Tell her life is a 2-way street.

>>But then she complains about how she looks
You need to tell her to shit or get off the pot. If you have a problem like this, do something about it or STFU.

That's a hot picture BTW

I've thought about this, like I go to the gym a few times a week, and I try and eat healthy and she talks about how my body is nice/sexy or w/e and I sometimes wonder how shed react if I said I was going to stop going or that I don't really care anymore.

Draw a line in the sand, friend. Tell her if she starts chunking out you're looking elsewhere. It's definitely something she wouldn't want to hear, but if it's bothering the hell out of you, then tell her how you feel.

It pisses me off when I see ugly/fat/chunky chicks that would be fine as hell if they'd just take better care of themselves.

Its just tough like, I tell her I accept her for her you know, but at the same time I don't want to be shallow and say if she doesn't look a certain way I'm done. I think I'll just have to ease into it. Glad we could talk about our feelings.

People get this mixed up all the time, though.

>>I don't want to be shallow
There's nothing shallow about caring how your girl looks. People who drone on with the "you shouldn't care about appearance, it's what's on the inside that's important" are feeding into society's bullshit.

Society normally doesn't give a shit about you, so you should return the favor.

It's apparent that you like this girl for more than just her looks. Wanting her to take care of herself is not shallow.

In a similar situation, OP. My gf is 'skinny' everywhere except for her belly, which she hates. She's one of those girls that don't know the difference between being thin and being skinnyfat (mostly all of them ffff). She's allowed me to help her but she eats like shit at her dorm and I need to tell her what she can eat, long-distance, trying to get her to eat 4 times a day. It's frustrating but at least she has expressed interest in actually trying to eat better (exercise and weight training is next). Baby steps, man.

I'm secretly in love with her love-handles but hey, she wants to lose fat. You take what you get..

Funny thing when she was eating the ice cream and I was talking about like bad food etc, she was like "I have a banana in the morning"... I was like, yeah a banana doesnt really counter-act eating a pint of ice cream btw.

honestly, I've been dealing with that shit for a year now. It sucks balls, She was fit for 2-years, then fat for 1. What can you do? >.<
>> Anonymous
Your girlfriends wants to eat ice cream and thus become fat which saddens her because ice cream tastes so tasty. In her sub-conscious she thinks "it's all in the head" and thus asks you to tell her she is not fat but super attractive (When she complains about how she looks, she really just wants you to say the opposite).

If I were you I'd tell her exactly that, and ask her what she would do in your place. I certainly don't want a relationship with a weak fatty with no sense for reality.

Depends on how healthy your relationship is.

If she can take some helpful criticism, just tell her she needs to lose the weight.

However, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. If she's not serious about losing the weight she won't. Leaving you with a few options:

1. You deal with the fact she's on her way to chubby->chunky->fat->obese.

2. You ultimatum her and FAIL. She'll only lose the weight b/c you want her to. She'll more than likely put it right back on after you let up on her.

3. You go looking for something better. This will drive her batshit crazy and she'll eat the pain away.

I've heard of guys playfully teasing their girls into losing weight, but it has to be one of those relationships where the girl hasn't gotten used to having your "instant approval" and has to work for it. If your relationship is something like this, make it look like you're going to start straying, she'll probably flip and start hitting the gym on a regular basis.

You're not going to get a legitimate response. That idiot really does think that physical appearance and health doesn't matter at all, which is complete horseshit.

Some people don't seem to understand that sexual attraction to the opposite sex is fueled by PHYSICAL ATTRACTION. Yes, it's important to look for more than a hot body, but completely ignoring the fitness of your significant other is simply idiotic. What would you prefer? A fat, unhealthy companion with a nice personality, or a fit, healthy companion with a nice personality?

Physical appearance and personality are both important, and ignoring one of them is simply irresponsible and selfish.

Not that guy, but nine times out of ten people don't care about their partner's health, but rather how they look. This goes for short-term flings, mostly.

"Nothing tastes as good as being in shape feels."

I am definitely using that one.

there's probably a reason she's eating poorly, whether it's depression, homesickness or terrible commons food. when she complains, just tell her she seems stressed out about her looks, and if she wants help she should go to the gym with friends or join intramural sports. And that you think she's sexy but don't like to see her so stressed.

She's a woman, they never came with good sense, brains or anything useful.
If she's complaining, tell her to get off her fat ass, learn to eat properly, and exercise more.
It's a common problem for college starters anyway, out of the house and they don't have a clue how to look after themselves properly.
