Dear anti-smoking campaign.
I am a nineteen year old male. My name is Alex Thompson. I do not smoke. Nor have I ever wanted to. However, occassionally my waning teenage spite makes me consider lighting up. Spite not for my parents who say I shouldnt. The fact remains my parents have done their job, they told me smoking is dangerous and that it could lead to serious health problems. But they also said "If your legal to buy it your legal to smoke it" I see so much money put into televised anti-smoking ads that I actually become aggrovated. The tobacco industry is selling a product, and by law they explain that their products do lead to very deadly health issues. Also the extravagant advertisments against them tells me just how deadly cigarettes are. I get it. The rest of the world gets it. And still, tobaccoo companies make a profit. It is also proven that nicotine is addictive. Everyone knows this as well, and yes, it makes quitting smoking very difficult, but there are products out there that can help. It is difficult, not impossible. I am actually very bitter, though, about how much money is wasted on these extravagant ads to tell me how dangerouse tobacco is. They could be spending money on people are trying to quit. Or people who are ill for the various effects of smoking. Once again, I KNOW. So far all I see is a waste of money, and I have been seriously considering smoking and picking up this terminal habit to put an end to this waste of economic resource. I've already picked out a really neat and stylish lighter with one of my favorite video game characters on it. Just talking to some smoking friends about what kind of cigarette I should pick up.
