hey /fit/

I just started a diet about 2 and a half weeks ago. Already got a bit of progress. I'm doing a bit of workouts too but I want to do more. I still want to lose maybe 7 or 10 pounds of fat, and put back that much in muscle right now I only have some dumbells with very low weight plates, and I can't afford any more plates or a bench right now. What are some good exercises for pectoral development?

It's not much but I'm happy with the results so far.

Hey /fit/,
How long after lifting weights did it take for you to see noticeable differences in your body? I'm talking weights 3x a week, and somone who is skinny, not fat.

<==== Doesn't work out, still get's girls 1/3 of his age.
Protip: Play guitar, not guitar hero.

damn fat hairy man

I'm guessing the dumbbells are the only things you have, and you don't go to a gym.Do flat bench dumbbell flys
>> Anonymous
There's not that much fat to be honest, I'm about 13%. Hairy, most definitely.

Pushups?

That's right, I only have the dumbbells unfortunately. I'd like to go to a gym but I just can't do it right now, but I will as soon as I can. I've been doing flys for a while but I suppose its because I don't have that much weight that I'm not seeing much gain in muscle mass. Argh.

Yeah I thought of that too, but how efficient are those compared to flys... with say 20 pounds? I'm not ruling anything out, I just want to know what the best methods are for what is available to me.

You wont bee seeing any gains until LONG TIME. I laugh at you fatasses lifting weights that think all your fat will somehow melt away and your ronnie coleman body will somehow show up.

Yeah another thing I wanted to ask, should I modify my diet? I take in about 1300 calories a day, or around there. I looked up some shitty calorie requirement calculators and it said I needed about 2800 or something like that, I have no idea how accurate it is. I'm just trying to mazimize fat loss and muscle gain at the same time.

1300? youre a fucking idiot

>>394916
you wont preserve/gain muscle on 1300 cals a day, brah
>> Anonymous
What is the best for simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain, then?
>> Anonymous
lots of lean protein, nigger.

but he's white

Yeah I do eat a lot of lean protein, but I mean the calorie intake. My main goal at the outset was not so much muscle mass as it was to lose fat but now I've started doing the workouts more so I want to do that, that's why I needed to alter my diet, or at least asked how I should alter it.

i don't see why people like op want to diet. just hit the weights and be productive instead of wasting that fat.

>>394955

Well, I am quite clearly a noob at this, and I was under the assumption that dieting and exercise would be the quickest way to lose fat. If I'm wrong, I'd love to hear the best way to do it.

Isn't weight lifting just one half of the equation?

>>394958
Don't make it so damned complicated OP. Just lift heavy and eat a good amount of protein. Buy some whey too.

>>394960

Believe me, I want it to be simple but I also think there is a bit of simple math involved, you can only lose fat if you take in less calories than you use, correct? And there seems to be some appropriate level at which you should set your calorie deficit, that's all I want to figure out.
>> Anonymous
>>394965
There are minimum levels of calories you should eat every day. For a young exercising male, it's about 2500. Remember that you'll not only not gain fat but also not gain muscle if you are much in deficit.
>> Anonymous
>>394968
and to clarify, by not gaining I mean losing on both counts
>> Anonymous
>>394968

Alright, thanks. So is a deficit of 500 calories safe, then? Say if I lift every other day and do cardio every day, and eat about 2000 calories... would that be too little?
>> Anonymous
>>394916

You need a LOT of protein. Probably about 180 grams a day. Eat at least 2k in calories. Eat 5-6 times a day. Always eat breakfast.

Thanks for the advice! I just need to restructure my diet menu then, I suppose.

fuck, im about the same size as op, and ive been on 1500 calories a day, uuuuugh...how the fuck am i supposed to know how many calories i need to lose weight when everyone says something different

Protip: you're not on 1500 calories/day or you would be losing weight. Cut back the snacking/alcohol/dressings/coffee cream/whatever you're not factoring in.
