Doctors for Diabetes Kati-kun !u3wfEjYvXk
I've had Type 1 Diabetes since I was six. My parents always took care of making sure I went to the doctor and had insulin and medical supplies. I just moved away from home and now I have no clue what to do. I have a nice job so I have health insurance and they gave me an insurance card but now what? How do I find a doctor that will prescribe me insulin and take my insurance? Do I just start calling random doctors until I find one? I'd really like to find a physician that would just prescribe me what I need and trust me to take care of it instead of having to deal with both a physician and an endocrinologist again but I understand that beggers can't be choosers.

Sorry that I'm so clueless but I'm pretty new to all this and my parents aren't being very forthcoming since we don't talk anymore.

What? How is this a troll? Is this the wrong board for this sort of thing or something?

just go to a hospital faggot

if it's diabetes and you can't live without fucking insulin ask for some there and they'll give you some and they'll be able to refer you to a doctor.

>clueless
sage for being clueless.

Actually I have a few months worth of insulin but I'd rather not wait until I run out to stumble into a hospital. Thanks for the advice about the referral though.

unless your parents died, then you should probably ask them what to do.
If they died, HA! You're fucked

You need to talk to your parents. Just ask what you do; they should be able to tell you really quick. It's not anything difficult...should probably take two minutes.

what's your hemoglobin a1c?

My last check was six months ago at which point it was 7.3. Not great but a hell of a lot better than people who don't give a flying fuck about their health and have like 12+.

yeah, that's not too bad...should be under 7, but 7.3 is acceptable.
what are your blood sugars like and how do you take care of them?

That's a bit hard to answer without a spreadsheet. I've been as low as 37 and high enough that my machine can't read it but both of those are extremely rare occurrences and neither of which has happened within the past few years.

>and how do you take care of them?
I <3 my insulin pump.

ahh, the pump. i've heard that it's very convenient.
do you have a girlfriend, out of curiosity?

No but I have a feeling I know where you're going with that (or maybe I'm horribly wrong) and yeah, I kinda worry that the insertion site will be a bit awkward during intimate moments. It's probably something I'll just have to address on a case-by-case basis since all of the catheters can temporarily detach near the site but some of them are less noticable/obtrusive than others so there's a bit of swing room there.

well, you wear the pump somewhere near your waist, right? it shouldn't be that much of a problem, i would think, especially if you can remove it for a little bit. have you ever had a gf or are you a virgin? i also ask because i got type 1 a few years ago, i'm 23 now, and i'm not positive but i think i have a little more trouble getting it up. i dunno, i'll have to have it checked out. i'm very healthy though and my last h1c was 6.5, and i've never had any really abnormal blood sugars, so it could just be in my head...

I'm afraid I can't offer any words of wisdom there since I've been taking other medications that pretty much kill my sex drive and make erections very difficult for several years. So yeah, virgin here.

aw man, sorry to hear that...you just can't get erections now? what about viagra?
