I've always been a fast person. In high school I was one of the fastest sprinters in the school (only being moderately edged out by the kids on the track team) and I had, still have, amazing agility (jumping around and avoiding getting hit that is). I play DDR/ITG frequently in the summer months when the arcades open and it really gets me beat for the first week or two because I had no exercise or whatever with my legs during the dead seasons.

So, my question is, what can I do to make my legs stronger? I want to be fast, jog a mile without getting shortwinded and etc.

I also have poor self control. When I start jogging, my legs go "...faster" and I start running and I gradually go realllly fast and can't stop without hurting myself...because I'm a moron.

Run somewhere that has patterns in it that you can 'follow' with your strides, the faster you run the more 'offbeat' you'll get.

Or get music that has a good pace and keep with that, I naturally want to time the landings of foot steps with beats of songs a lot.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, I'll have to ask some of my friends if they know any places like that nearby. I haven't visited the nature trails by my house in a long time, maybe those would be perfect.

...Obviously, you weren't the fastest sprinter if you didn't sprint.

Run a mile for a day for a few weeks, two miles the next week, three miles every other day, then bring your self about at five miles, just to see if you can take it. If not, revert back to a slower distance. Love hills, or you'll ruin yourself.

Get on track with the local runs, and if there aren't any, make some. Get to know some people that will run with you in the mornings so 5 miles isn't a ridiculous bore.

If you're still in high school, or college, join the goddamned track team. The only way people will make fun of you for being slow is if you bitch about it, but it you let them know you're there to run, then you're there to run.
