Sure its a good way to train your arms and chest. But as it is with any other excersise; your body will get used to it, and you need to switch it up. The day you dont get any soarness at all day after your pushups, you are not building any muscle anymore, ur basically just using your muscles but dont get me wrong, every activity add to your energy needs (aka burns fat if u eat right). When this happends its time to do something else, do pushups from another angle, add wheigt somehow, use pushup grips blabla
OR get a gymmembership and replace it with real chest and arm exercises.
