Hey /fit/, I've been trying to start a workout regimen, running and all that, and I want to put together a diet too. So far I've gotten my meals down to below 2000 calories a day, which is an accomplishment for me. I just wanna know any ways to do this while keeping sprite in my diet, because it's the only soda I can drink anymore, and I hate drinking water because its so bland.

Pic related, its the god of all carbonated drinks.

Enjoy your love handles.

2-3 cans.

is 140 calories really that bad?

why are you working out.. to lose weight or to gain muscle? if its the latter or both 2000 calories is way to little(if your a guy). all soda is a real crude form of simple carbohydrates and contains a lot of unnatural preservatives. If you can limit yourself to one a day drinking it after a workout would be the best thing. Why not drink diet sprite? Its still not all that great for you, but its a hell of a lot better than sprite.

sprite is 80 calories per 12oz can. 2 cans are 160cal 3 is 240. are you sure your calories per day are below 2000!?

lol you have to dump it, cut it down to one a month. after that it will taste so shitty you won't want it. It takes a LOT of willpower, which many people don't seem to have.

Stop drinking it every day. Follow a real diet and allow yourself one cheat meal per week - have a hamburger and some fries with a Sprite. Do this and you'll be fine.

Make sure you have a lot of chicken, fish (grilled, not breaded and fried,) whole grains, vegetables, and a few fruits in your diet. Cut out crap that's loaded with calories and bad carbs like pizza and fries.

Plan your meals ahead.

Walk/run at least an hour a day and do exercises to strengthen and maintain lean muscle, like lifting weights with less weight and more reps, or if a gym is unavailable to you, isometrics would be a great alternative.

I went from 250 down to 175 in a years time by doing this. If you're like me, you won't even look fat anymore after the first five months. You'll look "average," more than likely. Building that lean muscle really improves your physical appearance -- another reason why it should be essential to any workout regimen.

Best of luck to you.

Oh, I forgot to mention, don't lift every day. You have to give your muscles time to heal up. If you're going to be doing lifting, do it about 3 or 4 times a week.

This. When I first gave up soda and fast foods, I craved them a lot for the first five days or so, then I stopped caring. The next time I tried a soda (it was diet, too) it was so sweet tasting it was disgusting and the carbonation fucking hurt my throat and nose.

You just have to will your way through the initial few day hump and the cravings will go away. Would help if you have friends/family or a significant other to slap your wrist anytime you have a craving.

Also, sugar isn't technically bad for you. It's a simple carb. It breaks down into the exact same glucose that complex carbs do and it does the exact same thing to your body in the end. The problem is that it is not filling and it generally comes in abundance. I mean, if you drink a Coke, you probably packed away about 30 grams of sugar and it's not really helping to curb your appetite or anything...and it's taking away from your overall recommended amount of carbs per day. This is what people mean when they throw around the term "empty calories"...they aren't specifically that much different from any other calorie...they do the same fucking thing, they just don't satiate you.

French fries are actually a pretty good source of quality carbs, only problem is they're coupled with pure fat. Potatoes are a very complex and slow burning carb.

Stop planning cheat days. They'll come to you anyway and then you're fucked.

If his family orders pizza, he doesn't HAVE to eat it. If he goes to a restaurant, he COULD order something healthy, like a nice steak, or perhaps a salad.

I've never been "fucked" in such a way, and he won't, either.

rofl, enjoy years of undigested red meat and pointless amounts of fat

we all eat chicken and tuna for a reason

Which is not to say pork and beef are bad for you.

Fuck, even if it's not, I love beef.

Steak is a great source of protein. It's not the leanest meat, no, but that doesn't make it bad for you, like a basket full of breaded chicken strips.

You shouldn't eat it every single day, no.

140 x 3. 420 EMPTY carbohydrate calories that should be going towards something better like protein.

French fries are NOT a good source of carbs. they're made with white potatoes, which share a lot of the same properties as sugar.

Go do some research about potatoes and then shoot yourself in the forehead, moron.
