Sup /fit/.

I'm 5/10 and 165

and every since my shins started to hurt I gained about 20 lbs which I really want to lose. So do you guys know any treatments that will get rid of my shin splints? Also does any and other exercises that will help me lose fat for the now being?

pic related, pain is around that region.

no help? :(

As far as I know shin splints don't generally respond to much in the way of exercise, as it isn't a muscle problem. Try something low-impact to lose the weight and go to your doctor.

I can't run because of the crippling shin pain it brings. If there's a way to avoid that, I'd love to hear it.

Running =/= low impact. Something like a rowing machine might be tolerable.

Why do they hurt? If they randomly hurt, see a doctor. If You're getting shin splints from running, change your running form. Keep your head looking toward the horizon instead of down. Increase the number of steps you take. Reduce the amount of heel strike in your stride. Make sure your heel doesn't pass your chin in your stride.

actually it can partially be a muscle problem but the only major thing you can do is ice (some people say that a ring of athletic tape helps... careful not to make it too tight though)

in general drinkng milk and making sure you have proper gait when running and walking (or proper stance when lifting) will help (no pronation, now....)

I'd feel like such a pussy getting on the elliptical machine. I've only seen women get on them.

you could stretch 15mins a day like you're supposed to.
