I'm an insurgent lardass (5'7, 208 last Jan, 185 now) about to try HIIT. Am I going to die? How hard and how fast? Also, treadmill+HIIT=Fail?

Treadmill + HIIT = Fail.

Push yourself as hard as you want, no need to kill yourself.

HIIT is meant to keep your heart rate within 90% of capacity for an extended period of time. If you don't feel like you're about to die, you're doing it wrong.

Hmm i read up about HIIT over wikipedia, but Im still a bit confused.

Sounds like the Fartlek.

Would I still be doing HIIT if my heartrate is around 170-180 according to the treadmill?

way to be an unspecific dickwad... you provide no help, give no reasoning, and clutter a halfway decent board with your drivel

fartlek is a variety of HIIT

HIIT is ANY high intensity interval-based training... interval can be time or output based... constant or random...

run at a steady pace for a few weeks then try interval
