I recently started doing squatz the back/base of my neck is really sore from them, am I holding the bar wrong? Letting it rest on my shoulders too much? Or is this normal?
you're holding it wrong, put the bar lower
From the way it sounds you are doing an olympic high bar squat which hurts more if you have not developed a tolerance for it. I woudl suggest lowering the bar into your upper back/LOW neck/mid trap area
Thanks I figured that was the problem.
when doing the low bar squat make sure yo pull your shoulders back and keep them tight. Imagine trying to break someones fingure in the middle of your back.
