Correct, except I'd say intentionally slow the bar on the way down, because eccentric is where alot of growth stimulation comes from.

the barbell row was a little harder than i expected.

Pretty good, I guess. I also had some trouble with the row. First I had to find some way to get the bar high enough because I had to use the smaller plates. Ended up resting it on some wood and the larger plates. Then I thought I was using bad form for the first set so I went on the internet to see what I was doing wrong. So I fixed that and it went alright. I was only rowing 80 pounds. Probably could have done 100 but I kept it light.
