If you get a Veggie, Turkey, or Chicken Breast 6"/12" it's healthy.

A 12" Chicken Breast is an easy way to get 50g of protein and keep it low fat as well.

Anything else will probably not be as healthy. Also, no mayo or other junk on top. Cheese is probably fine depending on what you're doing...

Jared ate about 1000 calories a day, much less than his usual 10000 calories, and he walked a lot. Thats how he lost it all.

That said, Subway can be good. No bullshit sauces or mayo or that crap, getting turkey or chicken breast, putting only veggies, and you're good to go.

Jared ate a 6" Turkey for lunch and a 12" Veggie at night iirc. Those are 2 of the healthiest sandwiches possible.

If you go for any other sandwich it will probably be considerably less healthy than those (or chicken breast for the protein of course).

Well if you order a veggie, turkey, or chicken breast, almost all of the fat will be coming from the cheese.

There's nothing wrong with the cheese per se as long as you know what you're getting. Cheese is usually 2/3s fat and 1/3 protein anyways.

I used to always get cheese on my subs without even thinking about it, until a co-worker in line with me asked if I could even taste it. I realized, I really can't so I don't get cheese anymore.

I usually order a 6'' turkey double meat on wheat bread. I put on some veggies and spicy mustard (lots of taste, very few calories).

I'm sure there are better meals, but for a quick lunch during a break at work I could do far far worse.

Usually provolone and swiss are considered to be among the "healthier" cheeses in that their proportion is the closest to 1/3 protein to 2/3 fat.

Other cheeses are slightly worse like American (or the more processed cheeses) and are closer to 1/4 protein to 3/4 fat.

But uh, you're really talking at the margin when you're talking about the amounts you'd put on a sandwich. I.E. it'd probably be like a 2-4g of fat swing or a 2-4g of protein swing which isn't that substantial...

Either way, one of the only truly healthy cheeses is cottage cheese.

Even a cottage cheese with some fat usually is 3/4 protein to 1/4 fat.

The "healthiest" cottage cheeses have <1g of fat to 12g+ of protein and end up working out to ratios of 5:1 in favor of calories from protein. They're easily the best way to add solely protein to your diet other than taking pure protein supplements.

I think it's the best fast food out there. It's cheap[footlongs are $5 here], it's fucking huge and it's healthy[at least healthier than any other fast food restaurants]. If you're a student or just never have time to cook[or if you simply can't cook] I think it's the way to go. I eat Subway every single day and I love it.

I managed to go from 196 to 166 over the period of three months eating two subs a week. Even at that, I got the unhealthiest shit I could cause I missed McDonalds and stuff.

Turkey slices, Italian bread, American cheese, teriyaki chicken, mayo... and 12 inches of it.

Then I got bored and switched over to chicken, mayo, american, and wheat.

Since I burned off a lot of calories exercising throughout the week, two didn't really hurt even if their calorie count was through the roof.

I don't really do that much anymore, though. It's been something like six months now (total) and I was down to around 160 but I gained 5 back, so I'm starting to exercise harder (45 minutes exercise bike at 26 mph, pushups for no apparent reason other than helping my arms, crunches which don't actually seem to do nothing, and stepping stairs which are also pretty useless but still fun to do) and am going to lose some (maybe 15 more) before I start going to the gym this summer.

I just got tired of being fat... Haha.

I'm doing the same thing. I've gone from 245 to 200 since October 2007, with Subway.
I haven't been working out much, but their 6" roast beef on wheat with lettuce, pickles, salt and pepper and oregano is like 250 calories -- pretty good for something I can pick up and eat in under 10 minutes between classes.

The greatest feeling you can get in the gym or the most satisfying feeling you can get in the gym is the pump.
