hey /fit/, I'm joining the RAF in about 6 months, and i need to loose excess weight.
Any suggestions what food and exercise can help me lose weight, yet still build up muscles?
Any armedforcefags here? Whats your diet like?

Just start any general workout plan with cardio.

I've been training for the armed forces for the last two months, but I leave for work in 10 minutes and still need to grab a quick breakfast.

I've been training for the RAF Regiment for months now. The simple way to lose weight? Do a lot of cardio and eat less. It sounds simple, but it'll prove difficult if you're overweight already.

As for diet, this will seem vague, but avoid fatty foods. Don't eat chips, crisps, chocolate, fried chicken, etc. Focus on eating your 5 a day of fruit and veg, drink plenty of water and try to eat a healthy balance of food.

You can get hold of an RAF fitness programme off your local AFCO, or download one from the RAF website. It's a standard programme so it won't be perfect, but I guarantee it will prepare you for what you're going to face at your fitness test.

Good luck. :)

I hope to join the RAF once i've finished my A2's, I recently completely changed my diet and implimented a new workout routine. I do High Intensity Interval Training twice a week, resistance training monday to thursday and 30 or so minutes of cardio on friday and saturday, rest sunday.

To lose weight anon has already given some advice as seen above. Try to have 5 smaller meals a day as opposed to 3 larger meals a day if possible, and do HIIT as well, it increases your metabolism which aids fat loss. What I mean by a beginners HIIT routine is something like 1 minute of sprinting (9 or 10 out of 10 effort wise...) and then a jog for 1-2 minutes (5-6 out of 10 effotr wise) and repeat for 20 mins or however long you can do.
