Hey, /fit/. I'm skinny as hell (A little under 6', a little over 120 lbs), and since quitting cross country my one real form of exercise for the past four years has been my habit of running everywhere. This means I'm quite capable of both quick sprints and extended runs, while still being a step below actual track athletes.This semester at college I'm taking a personal fitness course, which means lots of time in the gym. From a health perspective, what sort of exercise should I put myself through besides challenging myself on the treadmill?
Sounds like you got balls nasty CV fitness.Build up some strength with free weights. Rippetoe's Starting Strength has good shit. So does Brooks Kubik's Dinosaur Training. If your college gym is shitty, and it will be, you'll have to improvise.
strength = resistance training.
>>15430>>15438Well, okay. . .I'm not quite clear on what "CV Fitness" means. Also, my end goal isn't becoming stronger, just healthier (Not that it's an either/or scenario).
>>15462well, what the fuck do you want? you're already cv (cardiovascular) fit. you don't even know what you're looking for, so why are you asking us?
>>15480Well, basically: Beyond building up cardiovascular endurance, is there any area of personal fitness that'll help avoid nasty ailments when I'm old and wrinkly?
>>15504Just make sure you eat clean, drink enough water each day and take your vitamins
>>15504there is apparently a correlation between lean muscle mass and longevity, so lift weights.
