Sup /fit/,

I have a bit of an issue...

I have a daily routine i've been doing for about 1.5 months now that consists of:

-my vinyasa flow
-15 minutes of stretching
-about 100 situps/crunches
-about 60 pushups
-20-25 minutes on a treadmill (at ~6.5-7mph and ~2.5-3 incline)

I am 5'11" and ~170 lbs, looking to lose about 20 lbs.

I really hate treadmills and how monotonous it gets. I listen to high bpm music, and 'pumping music', but that only gets me so far. Around the 10 minute mark I start to get discouraged but I seem to just will myself through it every time.

OP here, I just did 15 min of HIIT at:

30-45 seconds at 3 mph
40-60 seconds at 9-10 mph

I'm absolutely wiped. Is this what I should be doing every day that I do cardio? I burned approx 170 calories aswell...fast.

Yes, I'm a proficient yogi too. I have a boyfriend to do it though.

Every other day. And treadmills suck for HIIT. They're not explosive enough. Try a stationary bike, or just hit the track.

I am impressed. What a great love life you must have

I already have a treadmill, but I have a very nice mountain bike.

I know they have bike racks you can put your bike in to make it into a 'stationary bike'.

Would that provide what I am looking for?

Ive never biked for fitness, per say...

yeah, bike trainers. if you want, you can get one for like 80-100 bucks at a sporting goods store. mix that up with steady-state on the treadmill on off days if you want

Ah cool, also, I used to use actually stationary bike machines occasionally....but they hurt my back for some reason. My significant other is in med school and he suggested i quit...

Will this potentially be a problem when using a normal bike? Or is it just a posture thing....

Also, how does a bike workout compare with a treadmill one? It doesnt seem to have the explosive impact or the 'full body' movement...

Yo OP... male or cumdumpster? or are you a male cumdumpster?

OPs exercise regemin is very very timid and lacks intensity.

you need to increase the overall stress on your body during your workouts... something like 3 fold. the body is stubborn when it comes to inducing change and you have to push your mental limits

why not just not eat that 170 calories. thats like a cookie

The reason I ask is because I'm about the same as you. I'm 5'11" and 174 lbs. I've been trying to lean out but my body doesn't like being lighter than 165.

I pack on muscle if I eat too much and lift weights.

5'11" @ 150 will leave you pretty f**kin' thin.

Our bodies have a threshold for how thin it'll let us get. After that point you have to be on top of your diet and exercise. Try eating smaller portions more often. Consuming Fish Oil has been shown time and time again to help your body lean out. You might actually lose weight if you pump up the amount of calories you take in daily. Drink at least a gallon of water a day.

You might put on a few pounds but it's most likely water. After 2 (two) weeks spend a day or two sweating out and you'll be pleasantly surprised how much weight you can shed in water weight alone.

try something like the crossfit workouts. your routine is way way way too easy

eg;
Four rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
50 Squats

-or-

For time:
100 Pull-ups
100 Push-ups
100 Sit-ups
100 Squats

-or -

155 pound Squat Clean and Jerk, 30 reps

-or-

5 rounds for time of:
275 pound Deadlifts, 5 reps (185 pounds for women)
10 Burpees (with clap overhead while airborne)

Run either 750m on a steep trail or 1.5 K on a road or track
for time means try and finish the workout in the fastest time.

these are real workouts.

if certain exercises are too hard or too heavy to reasonably use. substitute in lighter weight or an easier variant, but keep the structure and intensity the same

how bout you push yourself, give that a try. Might work to spice up your faggy workouts

>>234879

Yes actually, i have an enormous body image problem =\

Issue is, the only way to solve it is to fix my body. I'm not bulimic, so I'm happy about that. Anyway, i just estimated 150, i didnt take muscle into account. Bottom line is, i feel a small layer of fat and i want to get it the fuck off me.

While we're on the topic of treadmills and HIIT i have a query. When I work out in the middle of the day it's at least 90 degrees outside and doing HIIT on a track seems counter productive only because my stamina would be drained at an absurd rate even if I'm only going for 15-20 minutes. Now I consider working out serious business(i.e. I spend most of my time at the power rack ect), so its not a question of me just bitching out. I just feel like I can get a much better HIIT workout on the treadmill for now as the gym is much cooler inside and more conducive for running at least temperature wise, not to mention when I do get off the treadmill I can barely make it to my car. So I ask you, is the treadmill really that bad?
