GRAINZ Anonymous
So I'm eating fairly healthy consuming lots of veggies and fruits, getting the majority of my protein from eggs and nuts (going to buy some whey protein soon too) but I haven't figured out grains. I don't know if I should only eat grains high in complex carbs or what not. Aaand on top of that I'm getting conflicting information on whether I should actually be LIMITING my intake of grains and carbs altogether because of starch and shit.

SO:
Grains, y/n?
What kind of grains?

the only grain i consume are steel cut oats
carbs come easy from fruits and vegetables

I suppose grains are only really important if your not getting carbs/fiber from other sources. But variety is always a good thing.

Whole grains are a valuable source of most minerals.

Generally your carbs are best complex, from whole grains (slower digestion, trace minerals, etc.). If you exercise or do sports, having a small amount of simple carbs/starch around that activity would be ok.
