im in decent shape. but i have a problem. i smoke cigars too much. way too much. i had thirteen last night. i dont really want to stop because its not effecting my exercise or preformance. hell, this morning i was smoking a cigar while i was running and managed to do my five mile upkeep run before work. i have a cigar in my hand every time i can. i like the taste, i like the smell, i like the smoke, i like the heat.

but i want to stop because my grandfather died of lung cancer on the first. seeing him in his casket really messed with me.

now i know i can quit. its as simple as just not buying them. my question is,

will it fuck with me at all? i've heard stories of people becoming so accustomed to drugs or alcohol that when they quit their body chemistry fuckes them off. my body has become so accustomed to them that i can, and frequently do, smoke while exercising. will this fuck me up is i quit?

HAHAHAHA no. i go to the smokers outlet, pick out a box of whatever full body is on sale at the time and take two of them home. i do this about once a week.

Join the marines and become a DI. Then run in front of your squad while smoking a cigar.

You're going to die of oral cancer.

how the fuck do you have time to smoke 13 cigars in one night?

i was at my grandfathers funeral yesterday and stayed up at night because it really fucked with me. normally i get home at about six, go out running again, usually with a cigar or two. then i come home, pushups, situps, wieghtless squats, fencer squats, squat lunges, lunges, blah blah blah. then i bring my laptop out to the yard and browse the boards here or play warhammer online until about eleven.

this hole process usually take about six or seven cigars. i stayed up all night last night so i smoked twice as much.

if thats constructive criticism about my grandfather dying of lung cancer, then yes you're right im more prone to oral and throat cancer than lung and throat cancer.

if you're just saying that to be a dick..then...well, youre a dick. moving on

neither of these answer my original question

I have a well stocked humidor (pic related), but I can still limit myself to one or two a month. Just buy the expensive cigars, it's pretty much self limiting, and only smoke one to reward yourself for a special occasion.

im not worried about my ability to quit. i quit last june for two weeks when money was tight. i was totally normal and people were more wondering why i wasnt smoking, rather than how my attitude was, which as far as i know was fine. i wasnt exercising at the time though, thats the thing.

im wondering if from smoking so much for so long and exercising while doing it, could stopping impact more performance.

by the way, thats a pretty good selection of cigars.

If you're inhaling the cigars, which you are probably unintentionally doing if you exercise while smoking, then yes, it will impact your health and fitness. It's also a waste of a cigar, since you can't sit down and enjoy it.

If you're smoking 13 a day, holy shit, enjoy your cancer, and that much nicotine (equal to 6 or 7 packs of cigarettes) is pretty much 100% physically addictive.

You wouldn't consider giving you oral cancer to be fucking with you? Seriously, chain smoking is a bad plan.

Why don't you just do your normal routine without a fucking cigar and see for yourself if your performance is affected? It would be better for you to limit yourself regardless of whether or not it affects your performance at first, because your body will eventually get used to not sucking down cigars while exercising.

You should take it in steps. If you go cold turkey, you will experience withdrawal, especially with that amount!

Just keep cutting back: eg 5/day this week, 4/day next week. Eventually you will get to 1/day, then 1 every other day, once a week, once every 2 weeks. In a year, you will be down to "occasional smoker" status!
