sup /fit/

I just found out I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and am hypothyroid.

I'm probably 20 pounds overweight, and I've been trying to lose weight like crazy --

Problem is, both make it VERY difficult to do so, even with diet and exercise

Does /fit/ have any suggestions for me, like drugs I can take to help my metabolism, or any specific diets or exercises that'll especially help in my case?

Greatly appreciated, thanks

Drugs? No drug addict. Ever heard of working hard? Oh, I forget, drug addicts don't know what that means. All you people do is complain about how hard life is and then try to escape life or find an easier way by doing drugs. Enjoy your shitty life. I would have have respected you if you lost that weight without drugs even if you had those two conditions. Enjoy having the knowledge that I'm straightedge and better than you!

: ( OP here. I wasn't talking about illegal drugs. I was talking about prescription stuff to help my metabolism

I've never even smoked a cigarette before, I'd never do that to myself, jeez lol

and I am trying hard, that's why I'm asking for opinions not jackasses telling me to not do illegal drugs.

lrn2read idiot, the first thing I have makes it difficult to lose weight because of hormones, the second causes me to have a ridiculously slow metabolism.

Plus, just in case this board is too stupid to figure it out, I'm a chick. Chicks are notorious for losing weight MUCH slower than guys. So no "baawwww I lost so much weight you can too omg stop complaining" shit anymore.

I need some serious tips or gtfo

Oh wow, you got 2 big things working against you. I suggest seeing an endocrinologist ASAP. They will work with you to find a balance of prescription drugs and are much better than a general practitioner when it comes to treating hypothyroid.

I know even with treatment, you may still have a lot of trouble losing weight or it will come off very slowly. My mother lost all her weight from hypothyroid as soon as she was being treated, but most are not usually that lucky without hard work.

Good luck.

METFORMIN MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?

Seriously look into metformin. Also, even though your shitty situation makes you tend towards the fatty, that isn't a guaranteed thing. Start lifting weights/getting exercise RIGHT NOW TODAY and get your diet in check. PCOS is exacerbated by obesity, and you can control obesity. Now go and get your shit in shape.

How did you find out that you have polycystic ovarian syndrome and a thyroid problem?

Green tea has been show to increase metabolism, so try adding that to your diet. It has no calories, so it can't really hurt.

As far as I know the thing in green tea that increases metabolism is caffeine. The edge is taken off of the caffeine by the theanine also contained in the leaf.

Not sure what's cheaper but a caffeine pill or cup of coffee can do the same thing if tea isn't really your favorite thing to drink.

SEEK A PROFESSIONAL

you are a special population. you have obviously had these things diagnosed, why dont you simply FOLLOW the treatment prescribed by your healthcare provider?

NO ONE here can help (including me), as they do not understand the in's and out's of your specific case, your med history, your objective test data, your current meds, your past meds,

dont complain, as the Dr can kick you a script that will be 100x more effective than any of the silly shit anon may recommend OTC...

On the right track. Starting off the day with a spicy breakfast helps keep your metabolism high throughout the day. Just don't overload on that kinda stuff or you'll crash the fuck out after the first couple of weeks.

Eh, I have fucking polycystic ovarian syndrome as well.

My doctor put me on the Pill to treat it, but said medication is notorious for thwarting one's attempts to lose weight. So we're pretty much screwed either way.

Hm. Any non-contraceptive medications that will treat polycystic ovarian syndrome?

The pill has not been proven to cause significant weight gain.

You're just using the placebo effect as an excuse to overeat. Fatty.

Can't help ya much, but I just wanted to say I've got PCOS too. Sucks hairy cock, let me tell you. I was on BC pills for about 4 years and while it did regulate me out, it didn't do much for anything else. It did keep me from gaining weight and kept my weight steady, oddly enough, but literally a month after I went off it, I gained 20 lbs. Fast forward two years and now I'm 20 lbs. overweight and 40 lbs. heavier than I was when I was on the BC pills.

I've started trying to lose the weight recently. So here's good luck to the both of us.
