If you are a mesomorph, you are a fucking mesomorph, and that's all there is to it.

Being mesomorphic myself, I find it pretty hilarious that other muscle fags find it so hard to believe that genetics has such a huge effect on your body. Do you really think you work THAT much harder than everyone else? Sure, to an extent, but I can almost assure you that putting on muscle is a hell of a lot easier for you than it is for other people out there.
>> Anonymous
Only fatfucks, scrawny fags and elite bodybuilders complain about genetics. Fatfucks and scrawny fags complain because they are lazy and need an excuse, and elite bodybuilders complain because genetics actually matter at an elite level of competition.

Anyone (except a few rare cases) can put on a decent amount of muscle, but they don't because people are naturally fucking lazy and irresponsible.
>> Anonymous
>>80966
Except that a mesomorph will be able to work out with his natural diet patterns, and stay around his ideal weight. You have no idea how much easier it is when you're normally say 5'10" 170 lbs and you can lift and run and put on muscle/lose fat easily.

A skinny fuck is going to have to eat until they feel sick and buy protein shit to gain muscle. And it will take a shitload longer. There is no way you can argue they have equal amounts of work.

A fat ass will have to eat a normal ammount, perhaps a bit less than normal instead of gorging. May be difficult for them because as skinny guys may have a naturally small appetite and not easily put on muscle, they may have a large appetite and easily put on fat.
>> Anonymous
Please note that there are a range of body types- you're not limited to mesomorphic or ectomorph. You can be anywhere on the range.

It does play a big role, though- skinnyfucks will never be a xbox hueg bodybuilder unless they work *very* diligently to achieve it. And take steroids.
>> Anonymous
>>80972
I didn't say it requires equal amounts of work, I said it is equally possible. No fucking shit a mesomorphic person will put on muscle easier than an ectomorphic person etc, that is the most obvious fucking thing on the internets, why are you even bothering to bring this up?

While I agree with OP, this is fucking stupid. Wild animals are also hunt for their food and are always in motion, the difference in size is obviously going to be less drastic. Some people can eat nothing but shit all day everyday and not do an ounce of exercise and not gain weight, while others are at the other end of the spectrum. Humans have different body types just like they have different skin color, hair, height, etc....

True. Either way, no one has the right to complain about genetics until they've reached their maximum potential in both areas. Which pretty much means the only people who should be doing any complaining at all are bodybuilders and athletes.
>> Anonymous
Somatotypes are bull shit, it is just another kind of fictional control. Genetics is varied for a reason, if we are all the same then one virus could take out the entire human population. Saying your a mesomorph is just a way of trying to tell other people that they will not look as "fit" as you no matter how hard they try. It is the same as saying because you were born into high society you are better then the "poor," when in fact people in high society are just as greedy, sick and depraved as any one in the middle class. In all likelyhood most people who claim to be mesomorphic are not. If mesomorphic people (assuming they exist) were truly superior then most of the human population would be mesomorphic because of the evolutionary advantages of having better muscle. It is doubtable that any one could reach their "maximum muscle efficiency " because it is always possible to add one more pound.

Somatypes are not bullshit. People who think everyone has the same potential are idiots who think they work harder than everyone.

Some one could have a thin but tall bone structure and develop muscle easy are they a ectomorph or mesomorph? Some people can easily build muscle but have a hard time building up stamina.

People come in a variety of gene combinations, it is much harder to classify some one by genetics into one of three categories.
>> Anonymous
>>81849
Or the person who got the C could just be doing it wrong. Though I realize it's nigh impossible to relate to a person with a learning disability. Still, it's far more likely than "ZOMG GENETICS", given how much people can overcome all disabilities or even their family background.

Genetics limits people's maximum size and strength potential and the ease at which they work towards them. This has been said many, many, many times in this thread.

Which means: good physique = possible for everyone. People who aren't anywhere near their maximum potential yet have the audacity to complain about genetics are still lazy. If losing fat or gaining muscle mass is really that unbelievably hard for you, you're either fucking doing it wrong, or you have some sort of physical retardation.

You haven't brought up any new points, so stop acting as if you're some sort of master debater because you are an embarrassment.

I was never arguing against genetics only against somatotypes. Most of the population falls into the mid-range, not too hard to lose fat, not too hard to gain muscle. Only very few people are naturally sticks, fat asses, or look like the use roids. The way a person looks is the product of their environment. Most people who are thin are thin because they eat less then they need to gain weight, only a very small percentage of people can actually eat a lot and still be skinny.

Let's take an ectomorphic person who wants to put on muscle. There are 2 mindsets this guy can have:

1. He knows what somatotypes are and where he stands, but he also knows they are bullshit in terms of what he can achieve, as many other supposed "ectomorphs" have proven. Therefore he pushes on knowing that somatotypes aren't going to hold him back to the degree most sadfucks say they are.

2. He knows all about somatotypes, takes them seriously, and lives his live in envy of mesomorphs. He has many fellow ectomorph/endomorph friends who resign to their assumed fates. He himself decides that the reason why he is so skinny is because of his genetics, and that is his reply whenever someone says to him "holy shit, you're skinny".

Somatotypes don't hold you back much, the hype over them is bullshit. 9 times out of 10, the person who complains about them is still in their teens or early 20s.

Sup, genetics play a big role in how your body grows and so does the way you initially train/former training experiences. I went through boot camp and lost like over 6kgs of weight, originally weighing 75kg. Now I know a 85kg person who lost upwards of 10kg, and on the other end of the spectrum someone of similar weight that put on 10kg. I am in a unit with a skinny fuck who was 65kg when he joined, gained 15kg in boot and lost it and came back down to 65.

Stress, diet, previous training experiences, and current regimen all effect the gains and losses we experience but genetics certainly will have a larger role in the process then we would like to admit. A lot of people are against somatypes because they don't like to see things that may affect their motivated mindset or give people excuses for an ailment that exists out of laziness but to be honest, that's dumb. Somatypes like anything else are just a simple way to explain a basic template for something. If you keep saying OS instead of saying you're using linux then shit probably ain't goin work, ya digg? It's just another simple classification system that has moderate success because it's just that, simple.

I am an "ectomorph". I am tall, skinny, and could eat fucking pie for weeks and maybe get tooth decay and a fat ass but I still weigh in at the same weight. I have a friend who is nearly seven foot and went through a rage induced weightlifting plan, used whey, and didn't gain much weight but got mad strength gains. He was much stronger than most of the people on his sports team but his skinny bone bodytype didn't reveal it. I have put on muscle in my life and so has he, wasn't that hard but neither of us got zomg xbox hueg in a few months even with hardfuckingasswork.

People who get mad at somatypes are either anal shits or mototards. I rejoice the fact that i'm skinny, who cares about being 180lbs and unable to run, jump, or even able to handle your own bodyweight. You can keep that shit.

>>81913
I use to do a full body work out 3x a week for a long time. No difference. I only did 2 sets per group though. Instead of 4-6 like I do now.
>> Anonymous
>>81886

1. The ectomorph will need to plan his eating and workout routines around his somatotype, or else he will be hitting the gym 4 times a week for the next year with virtually no results.

2. Yeah, just accepting your fate and blaming genetics isn't a great excuse. However, it can be very tempting to be envious of that dude who can hit the gym twice a week, eats however he wants, and puts on more muscle mass in a month then you put on in 6.

Resigning yourself to being skinny and bitching for the rest of your life is weak. It's not disputable, though, that somatotypes make a huge difference in day to day gains. When someone has to nearly obsessively pack in calories and work out constantly to gain very modest results, it's clear that not all genetics are made equal.
>> Anonymous
"surprising" your muscles does not do anything. Your muscles don't have a brain. They respond to stress. not different exercises. The only thing changing your routine does is make you less bored. As long as the muscles in question get worked they will grow.
>> Anonymous
>>81914
See, the reason somatotypes are bullshit has nothing to do with associating certain traits you observe of yourself. Do you even know the story of how somatotyping first came about? The dick may have been from harvard, but his study wouldn't even be worthy of a creationist college.

this
>> Anonymous
>>81920

The point of changing up your routine is mentally so that your body adjusts to the difficulties you put on them by working them out.

Sure you'll get bored lifting the same things all the time, but at the same time, you'll also get used to it to where it will become rather easy, which is why you need to adjust to keep things difficult-which makes you grow faster. Ever hear the saying "Desperate times call for desperate measures?" Your body needs to feel that sensation to realize the need to change.
>> Anonymous
>>81928
That means adding more weight. Not new exercises. Your muscles respond to heavier things.
>> Anonymous
>>81914
Hmm let's see. You were skinny, and you still are skinny. Your friend (and I'm assuming you too) did strength training, which leads to myofibrillar hypertrophy, and that doesn't have much potential for growth in most people anyway.

So with this in mind, who the hell are you to promote somatotypes as the be all and end all of physiques? You're an idiot, you are skinny because you want to be, and your friend is skinny because he was doing it wrong.
>> Anonymous
>>81931

It has nothing to do with somatotypes being the "end all of physiques", dipshit. What it comes down to is this: yes, ectomorphs can gain muscle mass. Yes, endomorphs can lose fat. But doing so requires far, far more effort and planning than the classic mesomorph. Somatotypes can be overcome, but their impact certainly can't be denied.

As an ectomorph, I hit the gym for literally years with virtually no gains. I went to the gym with people who fit the "mesomorph" bill perfectly, they did the exact same routine that I did, and at the end of 3 months they looked like they gained 20lbs of muscle.

I've since read up on body types, changed my strategy, and I've started getting results. I still work 3 times as hard as my buddies to gain even a modest amount of weight and strength. Saying that people are skinny because they're "doing it wrong" or "don't want it enough" just makes you look like some over-motivated, self-righteous prick.
>> Anonymous
>>81930

You are not an ectomorph. You were skinny with little fat or muscle. This is natural as most people through childhood are "ectomorphs." I take a look at kids and I don't see much variation at all. What happens then? At puberty kids make choices to either join a sport, veg out and do drugs or just be average and not overeat. Some kids have great diets because their parents are smart, some don't.

We're all born equal, and you are simply making excuses for not being as disciplined as the "mesomorph" in your story. You obviously weren't on the same program, or else you would have gained. Or perhaps you needed to be eating more than you were.

Somatotypes come from an era where gene theories were barely being scratched at. The purpose of Sheldon's study was to justify eugenics. The fact that you are still using these terms is appalling.

There are as many varied responses to training as there are people. The factors you can change are nutrition and exercise. Genetics you cannot change, but with the alteration of the other two you can become that mesomorph you envy and gain muscle in the same time. Yes it is easy, quit making fucking excuses you pathetic little worm.
