Strength: Universal or Relative to One's Gym? Anonymous
Hey /fit/:

I was wondering the tiers of strength attributed to the amount of weight one lifts (not in the completive sense, mind you); none of us are strangers to this quandary: at one time or another, we wonder about the weight we lift and how others perceive it.

So, I ask, if you had to break down the amount of weight lifted into 4 categories, let's say:

1. Beginner (those relatively new to lifting, or just lifting casually),
2. Intermediate (developed, but not necessarily BIG)
3. Advanced (developed and big).
4. Expert (your gym's superstar, so to speak).

How would you distribute weight ranges for particular exercises?

Also, where do you think you fit into these categories? Post how much you lift in, what you think are, relevant exercises.

Click one of the five exercises to see a chart that divides by weight and "tiers"

After 2 solid years of weight lifting I'm still around intermediate...

Been working out since January 2007. Badly at first but started a real plan in September.

According to exrx 1 rep calculator

Bench: 205
Squat: 267
Deadlift: 242 (I only started deadlifting about 3 weeks ago)

According to exrx, that places me towards the high end of intermediate on squat and bench but almost novice at deadlift.

That's me.. Which I don't understand is that I can lift a fuck-load on deadlifts, but on squats I barely do shit.

Also, that's what I do on box-squats. Where you sit down and get back up..
