Hi /fit/,

I'm heading to college in a few weeks and will finally be able to access a gym regularly, so I figured I'd start working out.

I want to get a body similar to a diver or swimmer; thin but toned. My only problem is I have no idea where to start researching to assemble a regimen. So, does anyone have any ideas on what sort of exercises I should be doing, and/or have any resources they could share to help me get started?

Probably a better picture.

Swimming gives a considerable degree of muscle when done frequently/properly, but in order to get this kind of 'Olympic' definition, you need the resistance of free weights and a healthy diet. Basically, swim your ass off and do complex joint conditioning exercises while not eating a bunch of simple carbohydrate-based crap.

I'm actually a terrible swimmer. Are there any exercises that will give similar results?

no

toned is a bullshit word.

basically it means "some muscle mass, little body fat, high definition"

Word means "a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation, that functions as a principal carrier of meaning"

Whats your point?

I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty fucking good to me

On that note, different person here: I AM a former swimmer, from high school (sprinter, used to be able to beat 30 seconds on the 50 meter freestyle) but despite knowing good form, being fast, and having a bit of strength from it I didn't stay on it long enough to lose my spare tire or start getting definition. I'm pretty out of practice but apparently enough's still there to lift decent amounts in the gym instead of being a hideous pile.

in short: What KIND of swimming should I do to help me get the body I should've fucking got? Is it simply "eat better, the campus cafeteria fucked you over with carbs"? Should I lift a lot in addition to swimming? Should I be swimming with trunks or shirts on for resistance?

I don't know your diet then/now, but its a probable cause.

It was terrible, I'm pretty aware I was eating too much. Boarding environment + buffet meals every day (oof). Swimming probably kept me from just balooning (put on like ten pounds when I stopped). But I'd still love some good tips to supplement just laps.

Don't look like Tom Daley, he's a twat.

But If you want to look like a swimmer or a diver, swimming and diving is usually a good start, they're just resistance exercises *Less so for diving* So you just lose weight and gain a little muscle, but it's strong and can go for a long time.

Exercises at the gymn for this, cardio, runnning, rowing, eating a dick.

The usual.

Wannna get the body of a swimmer/diver? Then FUCKING swim and dive you faggot. Jesus Christ, are you that fucking stupid?

Obviously Swimmers and Divers do more than swim and dive to get the bodies they have.

But it is usually what they do the most, their cardio and weight sessions are usually shit.

It's like the people that wonder how the runners train to get so fast. Well, they fucking run, of course they do other shit, but they get faster just running and running

Have you ever thought about swimming a lot?

I hear swimmers look like swimmers.

Unless you were me in high school. Three hours at practice and then I came home and downed a pint of ice cream. Granted, I never gained a pound, but I also never lost anything.
