Possibly slightly exaggerated, but HIIT really does kick ass. I did it for 8 weeks, and my mile time dropped from 7:30 to 5:50. I was happy. Oh, and I lost several pounds of fat without loosing any muscle.
My routine at the time was
Monday - Gym for core (Chest, Back, Abs/Obliques, Shoulders, Traps) Tuesday - HIIT Wednesday - HIIT Thursday - Rest Friday - Gym for core (Chest, Back, Abs/Obliques, Shoulders, Traps) Saturday - HIIT Sunday - HIIT
