hey /fit/fags,Here's the question - Protein Powder VS. Real FoodI've read that food is the best, but im not sure of the science behind it. If someone can enlighten me, that would be good.Reason I'm asking is that about to start the velocity diet. The requirement of at least 1g of protein per pound of body weight seems a little steep and unrealistic.
Protein powder is processed, so there is that to worry about. The main reason powder is so popular is because it's really hard to eat 1g of protein per lb...really really hard. Trust me I tried and just couldn't eat that much food. Powders are almost pure protein (~85%) so they're great for balancing macro nutrient ratios.
>>204709But is it good to start the velocity diet without any natural protein? Any health risks involved?
>>204774what do you mean by "natural"? technically, whey IS natural.Just take two scoops of that stuff a day, one after your workout, and one before sleep, and eat regularly, or more if you're trying to bulk up. You won't die.
If you could get all your protein from powder, I really don't see why that would be a bad idea. Protein powder is still food, I don't see what makes it "unnatural".
when you really get going, 1g per pound is easy; foods that contain a lot of protein and almost no carbs are plentiful, some proteins powder taste bloody great etc, it's just that after 1g per pound additional protein starts getting unhealthy
>>204781What about the velocity diet which would consist of 10+ scoops?
