A fatty who wants to change Anonymous
I'm going to be honest, i'm only about fifteen. I haven't really done all that much to be healthy throughout my life, and i'm paying it. I weigh 223 pounds. I decided, with a girl that i honestly love as my inspiration, to lose weight [Ofcourse, for myself. Not just for the girl.]. I originally weighed 230 pounds, i started swimming at my school every morning at around 5 AM. 40 laps, which is apparently the equivelant to a mile. It often tires me out, and leaves me sleeping in one or two classes, but i'm sure it'll eventually go away.

So far, in terms of dieting, i've stopped drinking soda and sugary drinks for the most part, i now sustain myself on vitamin water, gatorade, and water. I normally eat healthy things, such as salads, meats with veggies, but ofcourse my problem is portion control.
[tl;dr i eat the right things, just too much of it.]

Really, the most i'd like from /fit/ is some advice on some exercise routines i should do, as well as something that can help restrict my cravings for food, i have an addictive personality which may be responsible, being as when i was younger i went to food for when i was stressed out, and being as i wasn't the most popular kid, it was alot.

...I'm really a bit nervous, being as this is the infamous 4chan, but can anyone help a fatty who wants to change?

Pic related. Its me.

Cut out the gatorade and vitamin water. It's not even remotely good for you.

its better than soda, and its not unhealthy honestly.
Unless its just pure gatorade which is loaded with suger,
stuff like propel and g2 is fine imo.

This.
Reported. enjoy your ban.

Some tips:
don't drink gatorade. Just water and milk sometimes.
Eat healthy and eat less.

Keep on exercising. swimming is alright. Go to Google and search for "HIIT"

is right

you must be at least 18 years old to know what love feels like.

OP here. Thanks for the advice, i'm looking into HIT right now. And reading over some articles.

Thanks for your advice.

As has been said, stop with the gatorade. I'm not sure on the Vitamin Water. If you want something with flavor then get flavored water. Powerade Zero isn't bad, but impossible to find it seems. G2 gatorade isn't too bad. But ideally, drink water. Maybe some skim milk.

Keep eating the right things, but eat less more often. Try and eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day. If you're still hungry, fill up on water. Ideally you'll be drinking at least 1 gallon per day. Also you need to hunt for protein wherever you can find it. Meat, dairy, nuts. Get as much as you can. You'll be less hungry.

Swimming is good. 33 laps is probably closer to a mile though, assuming it's a 25m pool. How long does it take you to swim that mile?

And don't worry about being tired in classes. NO ONE gives a fuck what you did in high school.

How's community college going for you? Oh, and I heard you got promoted at Burger King! Good job!

OP here once more. In terms of how long it takes me to do the actual 33 laps, i think it was somewhere inbetween 13-15 minutes, i never really timed it. It could be less, or it could be more.

The thing about the exercise i do is, since we have the most stupidest safety system, we swim laps by the minute. You swim to one place, wait about 45 seocnds, then swim back. Theres no continual swimming, and i think my pool is 25m.

But as i keep on looking at that, i think i may just go against the faggy rules and just do endurance swims opposed to "hey lets just swim and not even do much.".. I probably would've done more anyways.

And I see you've conceded that high school doesn't fucking matter.

Where'd you go to college then, just out of curiosity?

33 lengths maybe... keep in mind 1 lap is down and back.

The world record is about 15 mintues.

And yeah, stop resting every length. That is absolutely fucking useless.

At your point a one mile swim should take anywhere from 40-60 minutes. You should try and do it in one stretch. Maybe take a short breather halfway if you really need it at first.

If you really do need a breather half way, try and push that breather back a little further every time you swim, so that eventually you aren't taking one at all.

Is /fit/ that young to think high school really matters that much?

Hey OP, try to take up some sports at your school. It's a good way to get in shape while enjoying it.

High school fucking matters because if you don't do well, you either won't get accepted to college or get accepted to a shit college, get a shit job, etc.

Try to make sure you swim well. Don't do some slow relaxed swim, try and get those 40 laps done as fast as you can.

A good run would be a nice compliment to your swim.

Try to drink mainly only water as has been stated.

If you find you're eating too many portions of things, then at least eat the stuff that's good for you. Eat more veggies, not the fatty part of the meal, and definitely don't snack on chips and junk like that.

But seriously though, running will help you drop all the weight you need, and if you really have an addictive personality then fucking addict yourself to running.

God speed.

Eat slower and give your body time to realize its full before you've overeaten

drink lots of water while eating so you'll fill up on that.

when you're eating with people, only take one bite of food for every two of theirs. it'll help keep your eating to a slower pace.

MYTH.

As the other person said, if you can't get into a top school, community college is fine for a year or two before transferring.

Also, going to a good college often doesn't matter either. Only certain fields does it really matter, or if your going to move on to graduate stuff. An engineering degree from a state school is better then a communications degree from an Ivy League.

Just because you go to a good college per say, it doesn't guarantee you a good job.

More than 50% of college graduates end up working at jobs that are not related to their majors in college.

1. Swimming is great cardio, do more. If you can go twice a day, do that. Or swim in the morning and run / jog in the afternoon. Your life should revolve around aerobic exercise. It will suck, do it anyway, that crappy feeling is the fat vaporizing.

2. Vitamin water and Gatorade are sugar drinks, although less than sodas. Plain water is best, and you need to drink a lot. Carry a bottled water with you, fill it up at water fountains. Sip all day.

3. Stay away from french fries, for the love of god. I realize how hard it probably is at 15 to avoid fast food, but try your best. You'll be okay as long as you eat small portions and keep up the exercise... just burn more calories than you take in.

4. When you begin to reach your target weight, start looking at lifting. Nothing fancy and nothing heavy at first, but your muscles will need tone. Do a ton of research on lifting while you're spending time with cardio so you'll be ready.

5. DO. NOT. QUIT. DO NOT FUCKING QUIT. The older you get, the HARDER it gets to slim down, and the more danger you have of being a lifelong fat person. The quicker you get into shape, the happier you will be.

Good luck. Weigh yourself once a week or so, don't do it all the time, you'll just get frustrated.

I suggest you to join a GYM. Weight lifting exercises, i.e. working out brings your body into a form when it burns fat even through the next 24 hours after the workout.

Lift as soon as possible. You will thank me.
