/Fit/ You decide -=-==-= Craigsauce
Ok im counting on you /fit/ im 6 feet tall and 220 pounds pretty bad shape. Im already eating healthy I just need you guys to tell me how much cardio I should do a day. I own a treadmill so I plan on either walking on it or jogging on it. Would 3 miles a day suffice ? Im a male.
>> Anonymous
I would say 20 minutes a day and try to improve your distance every week. 3 miles is hard until you get really good at running 3 miles, then its just average.
>> Craigsauce
I have been walking 3 miles at a brisk pace 3.5 mph takes like 50 minutes. Should I tone it down ? I don't feel to sore I was on the second day but now im not. 3rd day now :P

Hmmmmm ? I dont understand you weight 220 and its all muscle or you trying to say your fatter and shorter than me ?

With a body type like that, you should focus on lifting weights.
>> Craigsauce
I would lift weights but Im pretty fat and out of shape. I think I should cut the fat down then lift weights.

If you slim down without lifting weights you will lose muscle. Your muscle mass is one of the best tools you have in burning fat. You do the math.
>> Craigsauce
So basically you guys recommend I pump iron and do cardio at the same time.

Start with weights which give you enough resistance to burn fat. Increase the amount of weight as you progress.
>> Craigsauce
Yea im pretty weak also only could do like 50 pound preacher curls or something lol. I can bench like 150 thats weak :(.

What happened to "You can't lose fat and make muscles at the same time ?" What's wrong with just burning fat by cardio and decrease weight with healthier diet ?
>> Craigsauce
Im really cunfused now Guys So I have two options.
1. Do cardio and Lift weights at the same time and I assume see little results because I will be gaining weight from muscle and losing weight at the same time.
2. Do cardio and not lift weights till im tone enough so that way I can bulk up later.

That's for people who already have significant amounts of muscle.
When you're fat and weak building muscle and losing weight at the same time is a hell of a lot easier.

Do cardio AND lift weights. If the basis of your progress is a scale, you're doing it wrong.
Throw out your scale and find a way to measure BMI or just watch as your body composition changes over the months.

Thanks for the advice guys good thing you guys steered me in the right direction. With a little hard work and good advice like the ones you guys gave me I should trim down and bulk up in a few months. Ill be sure to post pictures of my progress :).

Damn. Thanks, I thought it also applied to people like OP (and me). So I can do harder stuff. Cool.

Limit yourself to like 300-400 calories a day spread out throughout the day in very tiny portions like 2-3 saltine crackers.

You'll lose like 20 pounds in a week.
>> Craigsauce
*update* lol lost 4 pounds in 4 days must be pushing it too much. Ill try to do little less of everything.

Moar like 300/400 calories per meal on the basis of 5 daily meals.

And losing 2 pounds of fat per week is the ultimate best you can safely do (anything more is either water or muscle).

Bad troll D:

lift weights. if you're already strong, lift more.
stay dedicated. if you're not ashamed of your appearance, set a destination to walk/run to everyday, drink tons of water.
if you like lifting invest in a supplement called endothil (increases recovery and is made of green tomato, chewable bitter vitamin the size of an ant and slightly expensive, but comes with a workout guide)
no-xplode (super energy boost drink for pre workouts and will help wake you up in the morning) tastes super sweet
cellmass (glutamine and creatine to keep your muscles growing and recovering, take in the morning and after you workout) was very sour and sweet at first then just sweet (brush your teeth/rinse for sugary stuff)
syntha-6 (lean mass promoting meal replacement shake, has vitamins and minerals, great for after workout nutrients 22g of protein per scoop, take 2, and include casein, which suppress cortisone which burns muscle while you sleep, take one before you go to sleep) one of the best tasting proteins on the marker

oh and don't diet.
eat a huge breakfast, say eggs, meat (optional) fruits
for meals you don't want to go higher than 500 calories
and yes eat more than 4 times a day
if you eat a cheese danish (400-500calories) drink a glass of milk (that's one meal!)
stay away from french fries. eat tons of fish and chicken. avoid filler foods and sweets if you can. go to subway for lunch or make lunches like that. lean cuts, tons of veggies, blah blah. enjoy
