HIIT OR REGULAR CARDIO Anonymous
Which is it? Which yield best results? I want the no bullshit answer, since there are so many conflicting information against each other.

Picture potentially related.

As long as you do masses each day, gardening will help fill out gaps in time between regular work outs, while exercising your body in a more gentle but continuous way. I would personally suggest Cardio for females.

Agreed, girls aren't committed enough for something as hard as HIIT.

HIIT makes you lose weight throughout the day. Metabolism etc.

Cardio makes you lose weight for the amount of time you were doing the cardio.

I do jogging for 30 mins every other day because I'm too lazy for HIIT

HIIT works great but it's hard on the CNS. You want to start slow and add more intervals ONLY WHEN you are ready for them; overdoing it here will overtrain your ass in short order. So will doing it too often. I would only do HIIT twice a week.

Do low-intensity 3-5 times a week; 45 minutes is ideal. Fasted works well but it can be Catabolic so drink a whey shake and do it that way.

moderation is key here like most things.

For me, HIIT.

My story summed up quickly:
With fairly good nutrition for a year and 40min weightlifting+30min running routine for the year, I stagnated at 175lbs (5'8"). Not that great.

I subbed in HIIT for the regular cardio, and in two goddamn weeks, I dropped to 165. I then stayed between 160 and 165 as I broke my good nutrition occasionally, etc.

HIIT worked best for me.

If you ONLY want fat loss then conventional cardio at medium pace works best, at least for a while.

Mixing in HIIT works by keeping your body guessing as well as benefiting your leg strength, lungs and heart.

Why not do both, you donkey? Do you only have 6 minutes to work out each day?

Sometimes a change in program is all a body needs to progress further, you would probably have had the same results swapping HIIT in for normal Cardio.

i dont know what you're referring to... do elaborate

I'm having a hard time finding information on what exactly you're supposed to do for HIIT.

So, say I'm running, do I just run like a motherfucker when the MP3 says "high intensity" and walk when it says "active rest"? I don't really feel like juggling a heart rate monitor and shit.

Alright, it's time for you to learn the birds and the bees, son. When a man and a woman decide they are ready to demonstrate their feelings for one another in that special way, a giant stork visits them at night with a newborn baby for the loving couple, whereupon the stork then flings a huge glob of gooey white jelly all over the woman's face and makes her smile happily, while the man fucks the newborn baby to death and eats its remains.

The End.

Now go to bed, junior! Another story tomorrow night, I promise!

I did that once.
Baby is not as tasty as it's cracked up to be.

Pretty much. Start at around 60% intensity and work your way up. Maybe jog instead of walk when resting.

that's what i did (swap hiit in for cardio)

heart rate monitor goes on chest and watch on wrist

how is that juggling? you forget you have them on after about 1 second

what I did (and it worked) was start at x=4 mins, do HIIT every other day, and every other HIIT workout add 1 minute to x.

Jog about 1/2 mile to my local junior high to use their track (this is the warm up), do x minutes of alternating 30 second dead balls to the wall sprints and 30 second walks.

Once I've done x minutes, I slowly jog back to my apt.

Then I wait about an hour at least before putting anything other than water in my body.

When I do HIIT I walk for about 6 minutes, then break out into a full-on sprint slightly uphill for a minute, then 2 minutes of speed walking. Repeat 2 more times then cool down. Is this okay?
