Any quiters here?

I smoked 2 years, today I woke up a non-smoker

I feel so awesome, because I'm finding it so easy..

I've had urges all day to grab a smoke, but didn't give in.

Does it get harder as time goes on? Most of the time I'm out of breathe from my training so smoking is a must-quit.

I smoked for 6 years and quit 2 1/2 years ago. The hardest part is finding things to do with your hands instead of smoking, managing the extra time you have in your breaks etc.

But the other guy's right. Come back in a week, a day doesn't mean shit.

I'm not here to brag about quiting smoking.

It's the first time in 2 years I even thought of quiting, in that 2 years I did little to no exercise at all.

But now i'm fully focused on training/quiting smokes.

'Think these will help? in terms of doing something else with my hands.

Because im so nice, here.

Stages of change:

Precontemplation: no initial thoughts of stopping smoking

contemplation: starting to think about quitting, get healthier/more aerobically fit

preperation: gather things that will help you quit smoking, get leaflets, nicotine patches etc.

action: follow through with quitting smoking

maintenance: join a support group, when you feel the need for a smoke maybe eat a mint/sweet instead, when ever you feel the urge to smoke twang your wrist with an elastic band. This will cause you to associate smoking with a negative feeling.

relapse: you maybe go out drinking with friends, have a cig.

termination: you successfully quit altogether.

Enjoy.

Yes, it gets harder.

The good news is that the harder it gets, the better you feel when the urges pass.

It's amazing how good you feel after a while.

BTW, col turkey is the only thing that worked for me.

I did snus, gum, patches, and I always went back... I finally decided to go through hell for a few days cold turkey. Just watch your temper, and you might feel super hopeless, but it'll pass.
