Because I'm a former fatty, I have high stomach capacity and never really feel full. However, I'm still trying to lose those last dozen pounds of bodyfat remaining until I'm cut, and I've been doing it with hard exercise, a solidly proportioned diet with healhy food only, and so far it's worked.

When I eat too little, I feel starvation mode upon me and I eat a bit more. But when I eat more, my metabolism revs up the cravings crash down on me, further putting me into that feeling of starvation mode if I don't binge to fulfill it.

How do I know if I'm getting enough food, and how do I find out how much is enough food? I've run the numbers on my BMR and everything, but something must not be adding up somewhere. Should small bouts of hunger be at all detectable when losing weight slowly/healthily?

You should start up eating 6-8 small meals a day. By doing this, you'll speed up your metabolism, and you'll stop getting those hunger pains.

Uhhh OP here.

I do eat 5 meals a day evenly spaced, protein in each, carbs loaded in the morning, fats piled toward night. Plenty of fiber. 2200 cal a day.

Two months ago I started this at 160 lb, and have through a lot of lifting made nub gains to 165 lb and killed a good amount of bodyfat in the process. I'm thinking maybe the additional muscle gained is raising my intake needs beyond what I've been intaking these two months so far, but I don't really know.

Another way to pose my question would be:

How do you know if you've eaten too much / are headed toward storing bodyfat? How does that feel? I've been on the side of anorexic for a long time before I hit up Venuto's book and changed my ways for the better to leave skinnyfat land, but the fear of overeating is with me since my goal is asap fatloss.

It's certainly possible that you're now expending more calories through a combination of vigorous exercise and increased lean muscle.

Try upping the calories a bit, maybe to 2400. Add another meal and shorten the time in between meals.

Also, if you're eating relatively the same shit every day (like protein, etc) your body will go into starvation mode. Try mixing up what you eat as much as possible.

You don't have a high stomach capacity, that's a myth. You're dealing with a mental problem of not feeling full enough. Fat people's stomachs don't grow just because they eat a lot, that's such a huge myth.

The reason fat people can eat a lot is because the emotional pleasure most of them get from food overrides most of the stomach ache they get until they're completely bloated.

No, no it will not. You won't go into starvation mode unless you're actually in a severe calorie deficit.

Yes, yes you will. Starvation mode isn't solely dependent on calorie deficit. If he's not getting enough nutrition and vitamins, his body will think it's starving.

If you're fat, you wont starv to death. Eat a cup of rice a day, a scoop of protein supplement and some vitamin pills and you'l loose weight. You'll fell like shit and out of energy, but hey; If you wanna make an omelet you gotta break some eggs. If you wanna loose weight, you need not to eat omelets.

But the main point is: If you're fat, it's very hard not to eat enough. That's what the fat is there for. Supply you with energy on a rainy day.

Stomachs shrink, and if you were eating really eating small meals even pace, you wouldn't feel like you're starving.

That said you also have to know when you're not eating enough. Check how much your caloric intake should be eating.
