Rest Period and Abs/Obliques Anonymous

What's the recommended rest period for certain muscle groups? If I do shoulders today, can I do them again on Friday, or is Sat or Sun better?

Also, should I work out obliques when I do abs, or should I have them on alternating days?

I can't say 'ideal' necessarily, but the way I was taught was to allow one 'soreness free' day before hitting a group again - I'll do shoulders tomorrow, be sore Friday, and maybe even Saturday, pain free Sunday, and hit them again Monday. Others may disagree.

I always do them on the same day as a matter of convenience. It hasn't hurt me any, so I assume it's ok.

the minimum for any large muscle is 4 days while any small muscle like bicep, tricep, calf, abs, you can pretty much do every day

I recommend working your shoulders no more then once a week since if you overexert yourself on that particular muscle your pretty much fucked on all upper body workouts

This is about as close as it gets. Normally I would workout again the same day the soreness is COMPLETELY gone. How long that takes depends on your fitness, your diet, the amount of work you did last time, etc...

There's an old rumor that you can work abs every day, which is false. At least give 24 hours between. 48+ hours for slower healing muscles.

Go for it. If you did abs one day and obliques the next, it may be detrimental since you use one to use the other (albeit as stabilizers and not the main muscle).
