I've browsed /fit/ for a while and not seen this specifically addressed. Most similar posts are from fat people who relapsed. I'm fit, eat well and train pretty much every day (mostly CV).Recently I caught a cold. I originally tried to continue training at a slightly reduced level but after exercise would feel sick so decided to stop everything for a few days. It has been 3 days now and I'm feeling better so will start training again tomorrow. What does /fit/ do when ill, stop completely, reduce intensity, or continue as normal? How long for? What are the effects of taking a few days off? I know it can be good to take periodic breaks anyway, especially in sports training.
Rest if you need to rest, if you can do light lifting then do it. No point in making yourself to feel worse, you won't lose what you've built up after a few days of rest.
what kind of sports training? with weight lifting and cardio every 6-8 weeks you're supposed to take a week off to let your body fully heal.
Don't athletes just stop exercising if they have a cold?
i do that and i've found that i bounce back to 100% capacity within a week.
