Alright fit, yet another overweight nerd, a /m/an who spends too much time at his desk, is seeking advice on how to get his sorry ass into shape. Currently at 6'1", probably about 220lbs (not certain, used to be about 230, but have lost well over an inch to my waist in the past couple months, and I don't own a scale). What I could really use is just some good dietary resources, and some place with a few simple workout plans, preferably with a focus on upper body, and creating a little muscle definition (I really don't want to bulk up). Also, picture related, but old as dirt.

YOU! I want to have your babies. mmm....

The only way you can create muscle definition is by bulking up. And you can pack another 30 or 40 pounds of muscle on your frame before you start to look like a retard.

My answer?

SQUATZ

Ok, so apparently I want to bulk up a little- but anything much beyond my current frame I really want to avoid. trade in my gut for the faintest sign of a six-pack and tighten up my upper arms a bit, and I'll be a happy man.

Who also apparently has a fan?

Yes. A fan. Let's call me that.

A crazy stalker? that works fine by me, especially provided you're female and at least moderately attractive.

Def female. I can pass for moderately attractive. Oh if I could only find you to stalk you. Or fuck you... something.

You have cutting and bulking.

Cutting, you eat less then your caloric deficit (use more energy then you're eating) and do lots of cardio. You lose weight or "cut" it.

Bulking is where you eat more then your caloric deficit along with large amounts of protein and lift weights along with enough cardio to keep your heart healthy. You'll gain muscle as well as fat.

Unless you're so fat it hinders your movement, I'd bulk then cut. Don't worry about how big you'll get, even small bodybuilders train for many years.

You should work all your muscles, partly because you'll look unbalanced otherwise but also because if you do it wrong you can seriously fuck up your joints.

ITT: Anon plays matchmaker in order to get OP laid (he looks like he needs it).

OP where do you live?

Stalker girl where do you live?

Also, OP, start with squats seriously. They will make running easier if you are a fatty like I was. They also will burn the most fat because of the large amount of muscles you work with them.

Part 2.

Don't mix the two, it doesn't work.

For your workout, join a decent gym, they'll help you more then we ever could. Besides, it's a bad, bad idea to teach yourself lifting and go it alone. Not only will there not be anyone to help you if things go wrong but there will be no one to correct your shitty form and tell you where the burn should be.

Lifting is serious business, people have died from it. Don't fuck around.

As for your diet, what do you eat normally?

Bite me, although I wouldn't mind getting laid. the really sad part is that I apparently looked like I needed to get laid back then, and I was dating my most recent ex at the time...
