dear /fit/,

I must confess, I do not come to this board often, being more of a frequenter of other 4chan boards. I do however have some fitness related problems, so the urge came upon me to click over here in the mild hope that some of you might be able to assist me (or barring that, at least entertain me with resultant responses on this otherwise boring night).

Anyway, I have weight issues. But not overweight issues! I'm a slender nineteen year old girl with a 5'7" frame, and I usually weigh a mere 116-117 pounds or so. Recently however, I've been dropping weight. I lost about 7 pounds over the course of two weeks, and was vainly trying to gain back my poor lost weight when our scale's batteries died (so I'm not sure exactly what I'm at at the moment).

My BMI has always been abysmally low, and even 117 was way too underweight. I'd like to be 125, since that's the minimum 'healthy' weight range it'd seem, and it'd be nice not to be quite so thin.

So....I've heard eat more carbs? But in those two weeks, I became suddenly hungry and was eating even more of them than I usually do, so I'm a little confused as to why my metabolism seems to have things so backwards. I usually eat all sorts of horrid things, like fast food and soda and chips, so it's really ironic that I'm so thin. At the same time, it might be partially explainable by the fact that my appetite is finicky and more or less nonexistent for long spaces of time, particularly when I'm going through a depressed spell (I eat hardly at all when I'm feeling down, and I feel down a lot of the time).
If I run out the door to work in the afternoon, sometimes I'll forget to eat until 8 PM at night....or later. I usually don't even remember that I haven't eaten until I have sudden onset dizziness and feel like I'm about to pass out, and then I have to stumble to the kitchen for some pop tarts or soup or something. It's really sad.

So, /fit/--I'm not really much one for working out, so focusing on the dieting aspects at least...what can I eat to help me gain weight? And when should I eat it? I feel like a breeze could blow me over right now, which is kind of annoying. Any tips for helping to regulate my food intake?

Hey, guess what?

There's a secret to gaining a bit of healthy weight.

It's called EATING. And if you're not hungry, go jogging so you become hungry.

right, I'd like to eat more...already said as much. I'm not much of the running type, though. :/

So who exactly would be classified as "the running type"? Quit making excuses.

Eat meat. Steak. More steak. MORE STEAK.

I don't eat much steak (expensive D:), but I do eat a lot of sausage and bacon and hamburger! Lunchmeat too. I really like meat in general quite a bit....

I was about 5'6" - 5'7" (male) at about 120 pounds for the past few years. Since January I've been doing more exercise and eating every few hours, even if I'm not hungry. I've put on about 10 pounds and feel quite a bit better than I used to.

here's an idea, how about instead of coming here and asking your stupid vapid questions you go and actually read up on fitness, health and diet? you know, empower yourself and shit? if you want to be healthy and fit, why don't you read about what healthy and fit people do?

Isn't that the point of this board? Asking other people what to do instead of doing the work and researching?

No. People certainly treat it like that though. There are tons of sites on the internet that lay out information that beginners should know. Read these first, then if you still can't get anywhere, you would go to a forum or ask someone else who knows better. Then some meaningful discussion can actually happen.

The same goes for other boards as well. If this were /g/, I'd say that we are not tech support.

baaaaaw. I would like to point out that 99% of resources concerning weight are geared towards LOSING it, though, which isn't too relevant for me.
Google still provides results, no doubt, but don't get your knickers in a knot because I felt like asking a 4chan board about it too.

>>87594
little snack sort of things, probably? does the jogging really help your appetite that much?

>>87574
don't think so. :/ (I only have a younger sister.)

Don't pay attention to those useless fucking BMI measurements your scale gives you.

If you really want an accurate measurement, go get a skinfold-caliper test to find out your body fat percentage. Chances are you're fine for your height (though a few extra pounds on a skinny girl can never hurt)

OP. Post pics of you. I'll be generous and even accept clothed ones. If they are form fitting so we can see your figure.

I'll tell you if you're too skinny or not. And what areas to work.
