Not OP, but after asking /fit/'s advice on a similar matter, I went to try out JuJutsu classes.
Turns out my local gym had two classes, and the trainer told me to come to try out both.
The first was entirely ground combat. It completely fucked me. Good laugh beating the little guys despite my complete lack of technique based solely on being heavier than them, until I went up against a couple of slightly larger guys who fucking kicked my ass.
The second was the standard self defence jujutsu, i.e. if someone grabs you like this, then you punch them in the balls like this. Also a good laugh, but getting thrown when you don't know how to fall and you smack the back of your head repeatedly on the ground sucks ass.
It's a fucking hard work out. I swear to god, I sweated litres into that borrowed jacket.
Problem is, I hadn't done any exercise of that type before, so I ended up with scratches and stretch marks all over my arms, pulled just about every muscle in my body, bruises like a mother fucker, bastard friction burn on my forearm, badly strained wrist tensors and a fucked lower back from landing repeatedly on my ass.
It's been 4 days, and I'm more or less back to normal, but I can't be losing 4 days worth of exercise every time I go to class.
Fuck your "man up, you pussy" bullshit, I think I'm going back to swimming and basketball till my body hardens up some...
