Hey /fit/, I started running about two and a half weeks ago to get into condition for my Outward Bound course this summer. I started off at about 3 miles a day, four to five times a week, and I'm up to about 5 miles a day now at a much faster pace.

Here is my question for you /fit/: At about the 4 mile mark, my big toes go numb, and the numbness spreads slowly to my whole feet. I generally keep running, and towards the end of my run, it begins to fade, and after I've stopped for a while, it fades completely. Is this normal? Do noob runners like me often get numb feet when they try out long distance? Or should I be worried about this, is it something serious.

PS: My personal theory is that it is my vascular system adapting to its new workload. Answers /fit/, answers!!!

I looked it up; I am pre med by th way
i believe it just your body telling you that it is experiencing trauma, the feet hitting the ground, around the same mile that your toes tart to go numb, try lengthening your stride or flexing your legs more at each step. see if it doesn't help.
