Hey /fit/

Do you ever get one of those days where you just feel like all your work comes to fucking nothing? And that your totally wasting your time working out because your not seeing any gains at all? Or when you look at your stomach you see pure fat.

Well im having one of those days.

Picture is me, i weigh 76kg/167lbs and im a bit under 6 foot (ive never actually bothered to measure myself properly).

I used to work out quite a bit before i started my current job, and then over the past 18 months all my muscle has basically atrophid away and i became a blob (14stone or so). So about 3 weeks ago i decided to start doing weights again (only at home with barbells/dumbells, bench and squat rack). But today i just looked at myself and thought "whats the fucking point, ive achieved nothing".

Basically my question is a) does everyone think this way? b) does this ever go away? c) what does /fit/ think of my efforts so far?

But anyway, OP, mate... 167lbs is allright. Definetly not fat, you know. Just continue to work out, you've got a lean genotype and it's just really hard to gain muscle because you have long limbs. You should be thrilled, women prefer tall and lean guys, just get more definition on the arms and shoulder and you're golden.

Op here, well i think part of that comes from the fact i was pretty fat as a kid and then when i decided to lose weight i went to far and went annorexic at about 9 stone. So there must be some problem in my brain where i just never feel comftable about my appearance.

OP, I'm probably the same height as you, and a little bit under the same weight as you. I've been going to the gym for a year to lift weights, been doing endurance running for two years only to recently start HIIT because cardio sux, and I'll tell ya what. I look like a blob compared to you. You are composed of lean muscle and win, and you have nothing to be ashamed of. Honestly, once I get to looking like that, I'll probably stop trying to cut or make any gains.

At the minute im lifting so i can just about do 8 reps with the weight, for 4-5 sets, although i hardly ever make it to the end of the 5th set on any excerice, exept deadlift, cos my back is my strongest part, i actually have run out of weights to do deadlift now, have to buy some more.

Anyway, i thought that was about right? 6-8 reps?
