Hello /fit/, I've been doing lifting for quite a while, and I've recently gotten interested in bodyweight exercises as well. How can I train myself to do one armed/one-legged pushups and pistols? At the moment I can't even do one, so how can I fix this? Thanks.

Pic unrelated, he's a fucking anteater.

Do more pushups.

First of all you need to get really good at normal purhups and bodyweight squats. then try isometric holds. Stay in the top position of the 1 arm pushup time or do a wall squat with one leg for time. for the 1 arm pushup you can also do some from your knees and slowly move your legs back as a progression. for pistols place your hand on a chair or table and do negatives under control until you have pretty good coordination.

Basically the only way to do pistols and 1h pushups is by doing:

pistols
1h pushups

But how can you practice these exercises if you can't do one? Grease the groove. Start doing one handed pushups on a wall, move to a counter, to a chair, to the floor. Start doing pistols on a high bench and work down. This will also require some extra effort in increasing your hip flexibility along the way.
