It's getting a bit too cold for me to want to run, and in the winter it will be snowing, so I want to know if running on the stairs in my building (there are 12 stories not including the basement) would be a good idea? This isn't just "oh lol I'll take the stairs instead of the elevator to lose weight" but to do this for at least 30 minutes.

Depends on when, what the stairs are made of, and what sort of building it is (a residence, I'm guessing). People may not appreciate THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD. So keep that in mind.
