I've walked on my tiptoes for my whole life. No real reason; I don't do it intentionally. I haven't bothered to stop, though, which I'm sure is going to screw my legs/back over in the future.

Recently I met a guy at work who also walks on his toes. It was weird, because we had all kinds of shared tiptoe-life experiences. Then, more recently, I noticed this young teenage kid around my neighborhood who walks tiptoed. Finally, one day at work, I saw a little girl tiptoeing. This isn't too odd, many children are prone to it, but I thought it was cute; then I noticed that her brother, sister, and both parents were all doing it. Only one brother wasn't. But a while family of 'em...wow.

Anyway, /fit/, I come to you out of boredom and curiosity: Know anyone who walks on their toes?

It's probably screwing you over in the present as well.

Well, the present does seem mysteriously connected to the future. (You are right though; Back hurts, legs are funky, but I'm used to it.)

Have a fucking frightening picture of Tiny Tim for your insight, Doc!

I do. If you've done it your whole life, the necessary tendons are strong enough from repeated stress throughout childhood.

I daresay you have healthy calves, like me.

Hah, people always go for my calves.

"You walk on your toes?" "Yeah" "YOU MUST HAVE SUM INSAAANE CALVES" "I guess?!"

Let me add that my back is in great shape. Heavy squat and deadlift, perfect posture, etc. If anything, less force travels up the spine this way, but there's more force on your tendons that attach the calves. My guess is that we strengthened those in our youth.

The guy at work insists that we are some kind of superhuman.

I tried that once, but I got tired.
Dude OP are your calves insane?
Show us a pic of your leg while you are standing in your normal tiptoe stance.

WTF, I've never heard of this. Are you into ballet or something? WTF.

Calf development at the cost of looking like an asylum escapee, I just can't decide.

Lol, my calves are fuckin nuts! (Not really--they look normal to me but others say they're big/strong). Not impressive enough to take a picture of methinks.

>>72949
Well, I don't walk on the very tips of my toes like one does in ballet, but on the balls of my feet. My heels rarely touch the ground when I walk; only if I'm walking fast.

Cost? That's a benefit, man.

I do that shit too -.-"

I've always wanted to build my calves cause my calves get tired quickly when I run. I might try this tomorrow. I still think you should post your calves.

you should force yourself to stop. it's a symptom of an unhealthy development as a very young child (1-18 months.)

it's only one symptom though. do you find yourself sensitive to rough sensations of touch? avoidant of physical contact with other people? avoidant of physical contact in general?

if you can answer yes you probably need to fight these urges and force your brain to rewire itself.

unless of course, you enjoy being abnormal in a small way.

If I'm wearing shoes I tend to walk on my whole foot, but if I'm barefoot or in socks then it's on my toes. And likewise, I usually never notice I'm doing it.

i always tiptoe when climbing stairs

ALWAYS

(only on the way up though)

For the longest time I walked on the balls on my feet, and it was painful to walk any other way. I forced myself to stop doing it, though I haven't stopped completely. Pros, awesome calves, and ability to walk easily in heels. Cons, fucking short tendons in my legs.
>> Anonymous
i knew a girl who did, she had to get surgery on her legs because the tendons were too short and she couldnt walk on her whole foot even if she tried

I only see gays walk like that... They have an amazing posture...

I've done this for about seven, eight years. Started in Taekwon Do; our instructor suggested we practice, when we thought about it. I did, and now I walk like this habitually.

Several folks have commented on my calves, but I rarely show them.

I had no idea anybody in the world did this other than me. I FEEL SO FUCKING LOVED

Shit man, explain. This describes me.

My cousin has walked on her tiptoes her whole life.
She runs in high heels better than she does sneakers.
It's crazy.
She has nice calves.
