soup /fit/
I need help, I want to become physically fit. But I've got some problems.
I am a 380 pound 23 year old adult male. I have Bi-Polar disorder and depression, but am not taking Medication for them due to lack of funds. I want to lose the weight but I am addicted to food. Ive sought help from friends and family, my friends don't know how to help and my family could really care less about me. I really want to get back into Martial arts, and I know that I need to get back into shape. The main problem is that I can't beat my food addiction. Can anyone offer any words of assistance?

Basically your only solution is to beat your "food addiction," but being that overweight you should see a doctor. Basically you need to eat right, not less, and once you get over yourself you'll find its very easy to get into the habit of eating different food.

I heard the Scientologists can cure you of your addictions without the help of drugs.

buy healthy food instead of junk
if you eat a shit ton of cucumber or white mushrooms it won't affect you the way cookies will.

if he can't afford medication, I think he can't afford a doctor.

If you're truly BPD, you need to get on lithium. It's one of the cheapest drugs in the world - I cannot truly imagine you can't afford like $10 for a month's supply, with zero insurance.

In me, at least, exercise kills my appetite and all desire even to look at food. I was a binge eater for a while thanks to depression, but I turned my unhealthy urges into becoming a workout junkie.
Also, water. LOTS OF WATER. The closer you come to vomitting from the shear volume the better.

I found that coffee helps also drinking lots of water.

No one is able to change their food habits in a day or weeks. A good way is to replace foods that are "unhealthy" and not to buy or keep them at home.
So lets say you like to eat french fries from McD every other day. Well buy them from grocerys and throw them in the oven. you have have fried stuff in one day of the week after six days of resisting them.

same goes with chocolate, chips, burgers.

It helps to keep a log journal.

this.
If you take lithium, take in enough water, and workout, your mood swings will noticeably improve.
Stay away from caffeine or any of those weird fitness energy drinks, they'll dehydrate you and probably swing you back into a mania, regardless of medication you're on.

Isn't Lithium a prescription medication?

Go to a local free clinic. Who diagnosed you with BPD? Or are you self-diagnosing?

motivation.

decide you want. we can spout all the advice you can possibly need to make a better body, but without motivation it will not add up to jack. shit.

decide you want to make an honest improvement in your life, then ask for advice.

Doc when I was 14 years old
They had me under observation and stated that I showed extreme depression for long periods of time, and high euphoria for vary short periods of time. I took Lithium and wellbutrin when I had a insurance plan but since then nothing. All of them made me extremely sleepy so I had to stop taking them

Wherever you live probably has some sort of public health system. If you are actually BPD, you need to be treated. Lithium is very, very cheap. Investigate your public health options.
