Greetings, /fit/.

It is starting to get really cold near where I live, too cold to be able to run outside without getting sick. Since treadmills suck, I was thinking about taking up swimming instead for cardio. What are your thoughts about this, /fit/? How good is it for losing bodyfat, increasing cardiovascular health, and the like? Thanks.

Pic related, Aquaman is a pretty fast swimmer.

Greetings, dumbfag.

You don't get sick by being out in cold weather.

I see, thanks for the correction. Regardless, it is still too cold to run outside. Any advice?

Look up swimming workouts. Wading around in a pool = lol fatass in the spring.

stop being a pussy, put on a hoodie pullover and run in the fucking cold. Working out in extreme conditions is fucking godly.

Calm the fuck down, you are acting like he was asking about spot reduction or something.

Unless you really push yourself it's hard as hell to do the equivalent of running.

You can't just bundle up?

I'm not joking, BRO.

I could, but I would like to find something more effective than running all bundled up which wont allow me to sprint as hard as I can. Are there any other alternatives then?

There isn't any indoor tracks?

As a skiier myself, I can say that you are, BRO.

Swimming > running.

I swim on a team and i have to say it's tough to stick with a regime when it comes to being in the water. although the same goes for running, swimming is a love or hate. it burns fat pretty damn quickly but most people say swimmers tend to have a thin layer over the muscles. this is true to an extent. if OP has bad knees like me, i would definitely recommend taking up swimming.

Your pool better be heated.
seriously.
if its too cold to go running, its even colder in the pool.

swimming is not the best option for fat lass due to no elevated body temperature following activity. also, you can eat forever afterwards.

I live in northern scandinavia. If i can run all year trough you can too - there is no such thing as too cold as long as you dress right.

Oh yeah and also, what is your advice to help deal with snow? Are there a certain type of shoes I should wear?

I try to stick to relatively bare tarmac, running at the side of the road if i have to (Be very visible to the drivers when doing this, the traffic is pretty light where i live) and i run with shoes with gore-tex, i cant remember the brand ATM. They are pretty waterproof as long as i dont wade trough lots of snow and dont weigh the world. Also, they have a pretty good surface-grip wich is handy to avoid falling on your ass.
