Question /fit/.

Fattie went jogging for the first time on Friday (stretch and then a 5 min walk warm up, jog for 10 mins, walk 5, jog 10, etc., etc.). I did this for an hour. During the last 20 mins or so of the jog it was... rough, my legs felt like lead weights during lat last mile and a half (total distance covered was 4.8 miles, yeah I know, slow fattie is slow... current weight is 207.5lbs btw).

I woke up on saturday and fuck, my legs felt SHREDDED. It hurt like fuck to walk. I asked my boss (who jogs) what the fuck (in so few words) and she told me I shouldn't have done it for an hour. I was shuffling along like a 90 year old man all day, and when it came time for my daily exercise (I still wanna set a goal of minimum 30 mins of exercise in some form per day, determined fattie is determined) I just walked for 45 mins (btw, my usual exercise had always been DDR or biking for 45mins ~ 1 hour, so this was taking it REEEEELY slow for me). I came back from the walk, my legs felt... almost worse than before.

Woke up this morning and my legs feel... better. Not SHREDDED like they did on saturday, but just banged and brusied. DDR and jogging are fucking out of the question (lol I'd prolly fall down if I tried, too much fat bouncen'), but... is it safe to go biking, or should I stick to walking for one more day?

cool story bro, what you experienced are doms. Rest a bit and then start again. Next time start slow.

the higher the frequency of your workouts the less doms you feel

Didn't it feel great to know you worked so hard as to cause physical pain to you body? Your body is like "Woah brah, calm down brah", but you gotta be like "Nah brah this is how we work now.". Give your pussy body some rest and then work it again.

you're experiancing DOMS, the natural buildup of lactic acid after exertion.

next time stretch AFTER your jog, not before.
20 second count for each leg (1-1000,2-1000...) do:
-calf stretch
-quad stretch.

stretching increases the blood flow to the muscles, hastens repair and removal of lactic acid, and your legs won't feel like shit the next day.

Plus stretching before a workout will make the muscles weaker. You're pulling the fibers apart, and that decreases their strength. If you do it AFTER a workout instead then you won't be screwing with your workout before you even start it.
>> OP
Just googled "doms" (exercise newb fattie is newb).

Ah, I get it, "no pain, no gain," right? So it should safe if I go bike riding (my usual route is 12.5miles, I can do this in 48 ~ 50 mins), or keep it slow for one more day and just go walking insead (it was Friday night when I went jogging, it's been aaaaabout 40 or so hours since then, I know the usual recovery time for muscle wear and tear is like 24 ~ 48 hours, right)?

There are certain pains that you should avoid though haha. Don't think that your shins snapping or something will actually be a GAIN.

NO PAIN NO GAIN

JUST RUN MORE UNTIL IT STOPS HURTING.

Yeeeeah, I'm gonna take it slow for one more day to be on the safe side (gonna go for an hour walk today), I'd rather play it safe that fuck myself over because of some internet tuffguy (pic related).

Question tho, what are a good pair of jogging shoes (all I have some $30 pair of shoes I got from Wal-Mart).

New Balance.

If you want to preserve your knees from danage, especially if you're overweight. invest in a quality pair of running shoes, don't go cheap.

I'm happy with New Balance because of what I've read about them, even Seals use 'em, and they accomodate for wide as fuck feet. I'm size 15 4E (extra extra wide).
