Stupid question from a fit-challenged guy

What's the best thing to eat post- and pre-work out?

I've been told for a long time that it's bad to eat before strenuous activity because you'll just throw it up. But I've also heard it's a good idea to load up on carbs before a work out and have something protein-rich afterward to cut down on your recovery time.

i too need help with preworkout meals. do you need any protein? simple carbs?

have a bunch of carbs an hour or two before your workout. and yes, have protein afterwards.

Eat some carbs and protein a couple of hours before you work out...you don't want to lift on a full stomach because your body is using all your blood to power digestion instead of the muscles you are exercising. Post-workout- Go with a lot of protein and some carbs. I like to eat carbs as soon as possible after I lift and then have a protein shake about 45 min after that.
