Is it alright to do weight lifting and cardio on the same day? In January I started a routine where I go lift weights at the gym every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Every other day is DDR. It's been working so far, losing about 1-2 pounds a week or so.

I just want to know if it's alright to play some DDR a couple hours after doing weight lifting for some additional calorie burning.

200~lb in Dec 07, 185~lb right now.

I normally do weights and then cardio afterwards. Cardio helps so you're not sore because it moves the lactic acids around or something like that so they don't accumulate and make your muscles sore.

Do your cardio BEFORE your weight training.

Doing cardio before and having your heart rate up while you're working your muscles will help burn fat into muscles much faster.

This is the complete opposite of correct.

There are so many reasons why its wrong I'm having trouble trying to start. I shall try to be concise.

Weights - Primary energy source is glycogen, not fat deposits.
Cardio - Makes you tired so you lift less weight for minimal muscle growth.
Warmed Up Muscles - Good to avoid energy, no impact on weight loss.

Lift first - you will lift heavier and work harder. Your body will eliminate the glycogen stores in the body.

Cardio second - you'll still do cardio just as well and it, being aerobic, will stimulate fat cells into the blood stream for energy, as no glycogen is readily available (used up during weight routine)

This is pretty much accepted and endorsed by everyone in the entire world now.

Cardio to warm up to prevent injury is good though, 5-15 minutes.
