HIV is often undetectable until it's too late, similar to certain cancers. It can lie dormant in your body for fucking years and never show up on any blood tests...then one day, BAM, HIV comes to life and you have AIDS in a month or two.
It's a really variable virus, as are most STDs. OP might have any range of diseases from that single encounter that won't show up for a while...or they might show up tomorrow. Not trying to scare you, OP, just telling you the cold truth (I'm a nurse and I've moonlighted in free clinics sometimes...most of what we get in free clinics is people wanting legit STD or pregnancy tests).
On the bright side, most diseases which used to be considered serious (and still are due to ignorance) can be cured with a single treatment (gonorrhea and syphilis, for example, are curable almost instantly today).
Just hope you don't have any form of herpes or HIV, because you're stuck with those. Still, you may never see them come to light if you're very lucky. Some people with a type of herpes only see outbreaks every few years, others see them almost monthly. Some people have HIV and never get AIDs, etc.
Just hope that, if you do believe in a higher power, he/she really likes you.
