I've been plateauing for two damn weeks now and I'm fucking pissed, especially since it's the last couple of pounds after five and a half months of this. So, I've decided to have my first cheat meal to try to break the plateau. Yeah, I know, I came sort of late into it, but whatever. My parents have been wanting me to have a night out with the family for a while now, so I think we might go somewhere not too expensive, like Red Lobster or something. So, my question is, do I change my cardio at all because of the cheat? I've heard people who say you're supposed to do a harder cardio the next day, but fuck, I really don't want to. So, what does /fit/ say?

You're hitting a plateau because your workouts have been all the same and you're not working hard enough.

Do you do any resistance training, at all?

What type of cardio do you do?

I do around 60-65 minutes of cardio a day. Mostly treadmill and 20 minutes on the elliptical if I don't feel like running anymore.

Also... please don't throw HIIT at me, seriously. I tried it a good amount of times, and yes, I did feel very exhausted by the end, but it didn't work for me at all.

If you're performing sixty minutes of cardio a day with no resistance training, the weight problem has been caused because your metabolism has hit rock bottom.

Doing the exact same exercise for more than a week will cause your body to adjust to it, plus the catabolization effect on muscle that long distance cardio causes. It also lowers the metabolism.

Start weight training to up the metabolism, and cut back on the cardio, or do another form of it.

Yeah, well, I've been doing the same thing for five and a half months, as I mentioned. So, I doubt your "more than a week" argument really stands.

I said that it causes it to adjust to it, not that is completely negates it.

Body adjustment is one of the most widely known aspects of fitness, in both resistance and cardio.

Also because you got the smart ass tone I'm going to sage this and hope that no one will help your fat pathetic ass, you deserve to not be loved, you pathetic bitch.

Just eat it.
Are you trying to lose weight?
Some people actually bulk some weeks and then start cutting again. Maybe your metabolism is really slow now, you need to gain a few pounds.

Eat the meal and cut back on the cardio, but intensify i.e. increase the resistance on elliptical and do it for 30-40 mins. Start lifting weights, since i assume you're at a gym you have access to it. Heavy weights, low reps.

You basically need to "break" through it by pushing yourself harder as your body adjusts to your routine, and as you no doubt know it gets alot more difficult to drop the weight the closer you get to your goal.

you are thinking in too short of timespans. one meal isn't going to do fuck all. hell even 3 meals wont.

appreaciable changes in your body happen over a timespan of 5+ months, or years
