I have a question about abs:

I'm in "good" shape by all standards and I have a clearly visible sixpack. But that's the problem. Many people have Eightpacks. The top muscles in my stomach are really small. I'm assuming that those are the ones that form the last pair of abs for the eightpack.

So... How can I go from a sixpack to an eightpack or can I? Is this just some genetical anomaly or something?

Ab visibility is directly linked to fat percentage. The abs are one of the most naturally strong set of muscles in the human, because all they do for your entire life is support your upper body. Everyone's abs are strong and look the same under fat. The biggest issue is getting that fat to melt away to make them visible.

It's difficult to actually build up your abs and make them larger. That isn't the reason a lot of people have visible abs. You won't really make your other two muscles much larger and have them become visible. It'll be about fat loss.

Yeah I know that it has to do with the fat precentage more than anything else. The thing is that I don't have any fat on my stomach and still I only have 6 visible abs. I'm also quite short so it might just be part of my body structure. Sucks though.

I had a similar problem and the case was that my lower stomach wasn't being effectively exercised. To recify this lie flat on your back with plenty of room and left your legs upwards together. Repeat.

Eat a fuckton of protein, drop the calories, take carbs down towards the end of the day.

Continue doing until you achieve weight loss, keep losing weight until desired rippedness is achieved :P

David Goodin has a 10 pack.

Btw, it's mainly genetic where the cartiligous signitures or whatever they're called are.

It's really, really hard to hypertrophy your ab muscles, they really aren't going to get much bigger than they are.

A lot of it is genetics, but if you want em to show up, you have to just start cutting the fat to make em show up.

It's actually just as easy as with all the ther muscles if you don't go for the whole "HAI I CAN DO 300 CRUNCHES IN ONE SESSION"
You have to train them like your other muscles, with regular sets and a weight on your chest.

I'm not saying that they can't hypertrophy, it's just that they have basically the lowest potential of your entire body. Like, your obliques (part of your core) basically can not be hypertrophied

Weight behind head is harder with crunches. Is it more effective?

You answered you're own question. It's harder, so it works your body more.
