The Plank Anonymous
How long should I be able to hold a single forearm plank? I just tried and I couldn't hold it very long at all ;_;

Seems much harder than doing pushups for the same time...

also, will planks actually do anything for my body or just fatigue me due to balancing issues, but not actually pushing or pulling any weight?

regards

well, they should be pretty difficult more than doing pushups for the same time if you're only using 1 forearm.. how many pushups can you usually do in succession?

As far as what muscles they work, I would think your core but maybe another anon can comment

yeah, it's an isometric exercise

Planks work your core. They are just barely superior to regular crunches. Do some bicycle crunches instead.

Protip: put weight on your back to make them harder.

UNBELIEVABLY FALSE

planks are a VERY superior ground based ab exercise, arguably one of the best overall too considering the FUNCTION of the abdominal musculature (as ANTI-rotators of the spine)

planks are progression to abwheelz

also, crunches and its descendants are about as useful as the leg abductor machine
