Have I peaked? Anonymous
Soup /fit/?

I got back into my workouts recently, mostly upper body so I can get back in shape for polevault, and I made an unsettling discovery.

I was doing some concentration curls, when I decided to step up the weight from 25 pounds to 30 pounds. I had no problem pumping out 10 reps on the 25 pound dumbbell, so I figured upping 5 pounds would naturally come next.

But I couldn't even do one. An intense pain shoots through my wrist when ever I try to curl, no matter how I grip. I've tried with EZ bars, straight bars, dumbells... I'm out of ideas.

Any quick fixes to this problem? I'd hate to think I've reached my peak...

Wrists you say?
I sense a overfapping issue, that has temporarily weakened say wrists.

Curl your wrist up, that way most of the force is on your arms instead of on the wrist itself.

Or just stop doing curls and do a decent exercise instead, like weighted chin-ups.

Is it in the actual wrist or up the forearm? The pain may be from a tear in the interosseus(sp) membrane between your radius and ulna (essentially a fibrous sheet between the forearm bones) or even a small tear of it away from these bones. It can happen just with continued stress, just like shin splints, and giving yourself a break from these excercises for two weeks or so should help clear it up.

30 pounds?

You weak, pathetic fool... go back to your fake dumbbells...
Ok...did you tried 30 pounds RIGHT AFTER doing reps with 25 pounds?

It could be a mental thing, you know.... also, try to cheat the first couple of times (using your other arm to help you curl), but then release and see if you can do it.

You are doing pole vault. Why the fuck are you doing curls at such a low weight? Find a straight pull up bar and do pullups with the same grip you have when you vault.

You could also try to do forced negative reps for a couple of weeks

It's basically where you take some heavy dumbells, in your case 35-40 pounds, help it up with both your arms and then slowly go down in a controlled movement and do it all over

why does your face tell me youre 12 but your arms suggest at least 16

OP here, ready to answer some questions.

It's in my wrist, but usually goes up to my forearm. Not the whole arm, but towards the wrist, at least.

I've always struggled with my weight, I'm 5'6" and weigh a little more than 100 pounds. Needless to say, I'm not very strong. I tried the 30 pounders after a few minutes break, but couldn't get it up because of the intense wrist pains.

Well, it's not a shoop, if that's what you're implying. My family has a tendency not to show age until their late 50's.

Work on your grip.

PROTIP: It is generally considered that all aspects of the hand must be exercised to produce a healthy and strong hand.

In other words, alternate your masturbating hand next time, and keep doing so for as long as you live. It will make both of your wrists the same strength.

OP, y u so ugly bro?
>> Anonymous
Wrong. What you want to do are grip strengthening exercises to balance out all the jerking off.

10 reps of 25lb. curls do not make biceps like that. I do 3x20 reps of 30lb. and i have almost no biceps. Are you made of gelatin by any chance?

If you look at the actual biceps and not the triceps underneath, the biceps aren't actually all that big.

size of the muscle has nothing to do with the weight it can bear.

the more tensile force you can tease out the better, try dynamic tension.

your not doing them the right way, in other words your doing them half ass

Theres no quick fixes, the problem is that the tendons holding your wrist straight aren't thick/strong enough.

Holding tendons in one position (your curls) will not strengthen them, you need to do wrist exercises really. Start out slow.

thats not fucking peaking.

your injured.
