There is a Stronglifts 5x5 modified dumbbell routine, but I can't imagine that it is as effective as the real routine, but its better than nothing.

Not sure how effective dumbbells will be in a routine like Stronglifts 5x5. I don't suspect it to be too much of a loss.

If you haven't done those exercises before, make sure you read up on the articles on correct form. It will save you from injury.

thanks for the link. i guess ill just live with the fee, no big deal. as far as diet though, i assume i should get going with 3000ish calories/day? and lots of complex carbs/proteins, 6 meals a day amirite?

1g of protein for each pound you weigh. Since you're a skinny bastard, eat your heart out. It is recommended you eat a meal about every 2 hours.

*sigh*

ok, if you have the weights, all you really need now is some room, an internet connection, and an ab roller. I love that thing, works your stomach like a crazy fucker.... moving on

If you've never done a real workout before, start with squats, deadlifts, and an ab workout... then add a new exercise each week or so. Even if you go to the gym, start small, and work to get bigger::: start with squats and deadlifts, then add stuff for your chest and back, then arms. Look up supersets.

also, make sure to rest. If you aren't getting enough, all your work will mean much less. Don't forget to stretch and warm up before and after every workout.

Work the heart too: cardio is as important as your muscles, just don't over do it. 30 minutes of cardio per session is usually good enough, an hour is overkill. Excessive cardio kills your muscle building unless you eat constantly.

as far as eating... focus on water and protein. Drink ONLY WATER, you should do this anyways. And large amounts of protien to fuel the muscle growth you want. Protein is needed by the body whether you are trying to gain muscles or not, so trying to put on weight means you need more of it... lots more of it.

good luck

i shouldve mentioned that im not very flexible. cant yet reach my toes. will this have any impact? that aside, thanks for the tips. i dont think ill be doing squats in my room since i dont have something to hold the bar at a decent height for me to get in position, so the gym looks like the best bet (obviously). and by focusing on protein i assume thats a shitload of meat.

The only flexibility you really need is hip and calf flexibility for various barbell exercises along with back flexibility. It's not hard to achieve it, though.

Meat, eggs, tuna, salmon, they're all good for protein. Whey protein will help you achieve your daily goal (which is your body weight in grams).

Ah, forgot... well, yes, but not much. Why stop at what that guy looks like, though? It won't take too much time to surpass and get stronger.

If you want to have a body the same body type of a fighter then it's quite simple you have to fight.

It goes with every sport wanna look like a swimmer ? Then swim ! Wanna look like a bodybuilder ? Then lift ! Wanna look like a faggy pretty boy model with nice abs, biceps but chicken legs and weak body ? Then GTFO off /fit/.

Keep in mind that fighters are not lifting for aesthetics, they lift and train for function, in this case being a better fighter.

Pic related you wanna look like a fighter ? Then train like one.

This man speaks the truth. You'd be much better off taking up a sport or learning some form of martial arts if you want an impressive body. The gym will give you big muscels yes but no one goes the gym forever, eventually you get bored and stop going. When you do sports you are getting exercise and having fun at the same time. Martial arts will help you get a healthier body and more flexibility plus you are learning something that is useful and also builds confidence.

If you want to train to improve yourself /fit/ will help you. If you want to train to look '' picture perfect for the beach'' /fit/ will tell you to GTFO pure and simple.

I went to the gym for 4 years and then bought my own equipment so i could continue to workout at my leisure... been 3 years now and still 155 lbs benching 315 for a 2 repmax. You only get lazy, if you get bored of being in shape you're just an idiot.

Also, bodybuilding is the best for building your body.

Martial arts are the best for learning how to fight.

Buying a gun is the best for learning how to kill people/defend yourself.

Specialize according to your goals.

this would probably be more viable if i didnt have mild asthma. havent had an attack in 10ish years, but i can feel some airway constriction when i work up a sweat playing paintball. wouldnt this give slower results than straight weight training?

i didnt say i wanted to be a model, nor did i say i wanted a weak body. in fact im pretty sure i said the opposite. i want a better body for a confidence boost and overall fitness first and foremost, then keep improving for the beach perk and overall health. being fit and getting a decent, good looking body are related, no?
