sup /fit/ club. I'm an exchange channer from /b/, /mu/, /x/, /fa/ or whatever.

Anyway, I'm a male freshmen in college and tonight is the first time I've gone to any sort of gym since the end of senior year in high school. I did 2 reps of 36 situps with a 15 lb weight, leaning the weight to the left 12 of the times and to the right another 12, and then 12 in the center. Afterwards I ran on the treadmill for a little over 10 minutes and ran a mile. My questions are:

-How often should I workout? When should my next gym visit be?

-What can I improve about this in order to get an all around workout (i.e. both aerobic and anarobic)?

-What is the best time of the day to go, assuming I fall asleep between 12 and 2 each night and wake up between 8 and 10?

-Also, any other advice concerning lifestyle etc.

I haven't drunk alcohol in a month or two but I frequently drink caffeine. No drugs other than that, but the food around here sucks, even the cafeteria overcooks food and then throws a ton of salt into it.

I'm stuck in a dorm life on a college campus, so please bear that in mind. I'd be interested in hearing any other stories or plans people have in a similar situation. I'll be back in around 15 from the showers so forgive me for any initial delayed response.

1) Bleach your feet now
2) work out again when you stop aching

First off, it would be easier to help you if we knew what your goals are. Lose fat, gain muscle, get "ripped", get a six pack, etc.

If your just generally going to tighten up, gain lean muscle, and lose fat then i'd say 5 times a week is a good plan depending on what you want to do. try something like
mon- chest/triceps, little cardio
tues- cardio, abs
wed- back/biceps, little cardio
thurs- cardio, abs
fri- shoulder or legs or whatever, little cardio
weekend- relax, try to watch what you eat.

It's a pretty basic plan, but it works really effectively. Also, if you feel tired in the middle of the week take that day off and work one of the weekend days to substitute. I'm a sophomore on a college campus so i know your struggles. They say its best to go to the gym in the morning, but really go whenever it works for you, try to work it around classes. As food troubles go, well just try your hardest. Cut down on the salty badness and incorporate healthier choices, I mean I'm sure they serve fruit and salads on campus. Alcohol is fine just limit your quantities, oh and limit caffeine too.

Alright, thank you! Currently I'm about 168 and 6'2", I don't want to get completely ripped or lose weight but I want to get into shape. Typically I'll gain 10 pounds during the hotter months and then lose it in winter, so I'll probably be weighing around 180 by July. I just want it to be more muscle than fat, you know?

OK so with food--I don't eat a lot as it is, and the stuff I *do* eat I like tasting good. Is it alright to start a meal with veggies and then still eat some of the shit excuse for an entree? And how much does a once a week visit to a pizza joint or Chipotles wreck me?

BTW, I just woke up today. Despite the fact that all of the noise prevented me from getting a good night's sleep, I HAVE THIS AMAZING AMOUNT OF ENERGY. Shit's crazy. I'm gonna go back to the gym later today before dinner.
