Anti-creatine thread. Got there without it? Let's show creafags how we can get big more naturally without the help of barely legal liver drainage.

Post some non creatine-fueled results and anything else to go against this new thing.

Actually, I'd assume it would be a pretty helpful supplement, in moderation. Doesn't change the fact that some people probably abuse it, but what can you do?

Don't bring your flames to /fit/. I don't want it to be removed.

Never used creatine though you're exaggerating the side damage part. If you learn to cycle it every few weeks then you are more than safe. Though it more of a performance supplement and not really used for "gaining mass."

Doesn't it just increase the vascularization to your muscles? Hence the huge veiny look people get after taking it?

You probably mean Nitric oxide products such as NO-xplode that mainly increase blood flow to muscles

Does anyone recommend creatine? I'm 163 lbs and am about 6 ft tall and have been trying to put on muscle mass alot lately (maybe 2-3 months) and it just doesn't seem to be working...I'm definitely in shape now and i eat a hamburger right after each workout but I don't seem to be getting bigger... I'm considering Creatine...yes? no?

I went into a health store to buy this stuff once. The lady at the counter was a christfag and she talked me out of it. I still don't know if I should be thankful or not.

Unless your a hardcore bodybuilder, then you don't need creatine powder, you probably get enough naturally through regular eating.

You may just be a hard gainer, and creatine isn't the magic answer. If you want to add size then focus on your workout and especially the major groups (legs, chest, abs/back/core). When the major groups increase in size, they tend to bring along the rest of the body.

Creatine is great.

You should use it in cycles though. Don't keep on it.

All creatine does is help move energy straight to your muscles, reducing muscular fatigue and allowing them to heal a little bit faster.

I take creatine as a supplement (one before a workout with protein shake, one after with protein shake). Most I've noticed was that it helped make my muscles stronger faster, not bigger faster.

If you want to see really fast results, you have to take lots of creatine a day (iirc 5g before and 5g after a workout along with lots of protein).

What kind of exercise are you doing? If I remember correctly the way to build mass was heavy weight and slow reps. If you're doing lots of reps with lower weight you won't get bulky.

I think the theory behind it is that by using heavy weights you cause more micro-tears in your muscle fibers, which then leads to more mass upon repair. Less weight will get your muscles working, but won't build the same bulk since it doesn't tear them up as much.

Put it simply creatine draws water into your muscles.
Your muscles are able to endure more and this allows you to get that last rep out that you normaly wouldnt be able to do, no matter how much you will yourself to.
Because your muscles take on more water they become bigger and thus give you a bigger appearance. Although if you stop using the creatine you will lose that water retention ability and your size will decrease about 10%-40% depending on how much creatine you were using. BUT that strenght and endurance boost that creatine gave you will leave you with bigger muscles then you would have if you went without it.
Creatine Monohydrate is the oldshool creatine, but now avalible on the market are different forms of creatine that do not have the mass loss if you go off them.
Millions of pounds of creatine have been consumed this year alone. Creatine has been used for the past 10 years and there is yet to be once case of it being hazardous or detremental to your health.

Tl;dr: Creatine is a basic supplement used by nearly all body builders. It has been never proven that creatine is bad for you and the \"facts\" you hear are spread by people who heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from his mom who read it in Soccer Moms Weekly newsletter.

Creatine is one of the longest study supplements there is. There is no danger from it. It's been studied for 30 years. Also, if you take too much, or take it and dont exercise, worst case scenario is a headache, normal scenario is you piss it out.

This post is true. Creatine has no negative effects. Creatine is only beneficial if you work hard on it. It is not a steroid. Steroids = Growth no matter what, more or less.

Creatine = Able to work just a little harder to gain more muscle.

And creatine is not 'barely legal.' There is no question about its legality (its about as illegal as vitamins) and no sport, major league or olympic, bans its use.
