Hey /fit/fags.

I'm not a virgin, nor a social shut-in. But I still lurk here, go figure.

Anyway, I've been unfit for too long. Still your average guy at 72kg at 160-170cm or so, and want to try swimming.

How would I go about training for fitness purposes and SLIGHT muscle growth? I have a routine I think would work:
I swim for an hour 2-3 times a week (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly etc.)

Since you're all experts, please shoot me down.

1 - You're a faggot.
2 - How intense will you be swimming? If you've been unfit for a while, you'll need to work it up a notch every week or so. But you probably already know that.
3 - You're a faggot.

If you continue until you get fit again, you WILL notice some muscle development and possible toning.

Buy speedos and swim in the kiddy pool for fun and prizes.

the steps to get slight muscle growth and normal muscle growth are the same. you try to push hard. you stop when your done.

Well, I would guess do a lot of lap swimming. I heard butterfly is the best for your body, but I always liked doing freestyle a lot more. When you get in the pool, do some warm up laps (maybe a 50-100 all kicking, another with only using your arms, another with the right arm only, another with the left arm) and try to work on breathing exercises (swim at the bottom of the pool and practice holding your breath until you can do 25 yd without surfacing).

That's what I do when I lap swim. Then it's just doing a lot of 100's and 200's, maybe throw in a 500, breaking it up occasionally with a 25 yd underwater entirely and then a 25 yard sprint.

Don't know if that helps, but it'd probably help to swim with someone to help pace you.
