Howdy, /fit/.

I've been drinking a lot of tea recently, and the box, as pictured, yaks about antioxidants a lot, but doesn't really explain a lot about what specific things they can do for me.

What are the specific health benefits I can expect from drinking tea, if any?

Holy shit. Post links. I'm going to have to start making loose leaf tea again.

Wasn't there a big study and ooh-ah about antioxidants and prostate cancer recently?

The best tea for antioxidants is Rooibos, but your right, tea doesn't provide as many antioxidants as fresh vegetables.

Even so, what it does provide is a nice perk in comparison to the negatives of drinking pop and energy drinks.

OP here, thanks for the info. I can't fucking stand energy drinks, and I'm trying to cut down soda, so I guess I'll stick with the tea. I doubt I'm particularly high at risk for heart disease, but I think cancer runs in my family, so this could be a good thing. I eat plenty of fruits and vegetables too.

Anyhow, thanks, folks.

I drink 2+ pots of green tea per day. Anyone care to guess whether I am doing more harm (caffeine) than good (anti-oxidants)? I was thinking of giving it up because of the caffeine

Doesn't have that much caffeine in it, and less sugar than other caffeinated drinks (coke, sprite etc.). You'll be fine.

All kind of teas have a shitton of fluoride. Too much of this is toxic and can damage your bones and teeth. So maybe all the tea you're drinking everyday is fucking your body a little.

But I don't think one or two cups a day can do any harm
