Hey /fit/.
This is m first visit to this board, and I am here to ask for your help.

I am a fat guy, not huge by any standard, but still fat.
I used to work out a lot when I was growing up so I am naturally pretty buff, but since I stopped working out 5 years ago, I am fat-buff, if that makes sense.

The thing is, I want to lose weight, I don't care about musclemass, unless it is the best choice for losing the weight.

I am 6'1 and about 230 pounds right now, and my goal is to go down to 180, just because I am sick of being a fatty, and nothing would please me more than being able to work down the street without feeling self-conscious.
I have lost about 10 pounds so far, but not nearly as fast as I'd like.

As a motivator I will kill myself next summer if I don't follow this through, so I am yours to dictate.

I only drink water and non-fat milk, but I need to know what foods I should focus on and what foods I should avoid, and since I don't have access to a gym-membership now, I'd appreciate exercises I could do outside or at home.
I'm fat and got no friends, so soccer is out of the question. >.>

What the fuck do you have to be depressed about? Bawwww I'm fat and doing nothing about it so I'll wallow in my own self-filth and cry about it on the internet.

Fuck's sake man. RUN. RUN YOUR FAT FUCKING ASS OFF.

As I said, me getting fat is the result of the depression.
The depression pretty much comes from being told I am shit and that I will never amount to anything every day for about 10 years, ah, the thing that molds young minds.
It's pretty much affected me to the point where it's true, I am poor, I don't even feel comfortable around my own family, and I am just sick of it.

This weightloss is my first step to trying to make something out of myself other than the pathetic person I am now.

Enough about the depression now though.

Please elaborate on diet and exercise, I really need help since I don't know where to start.

Dude, lurk this board for a week. You'll see diets, exercise routines, etc.

But in all honesty, you need to run. A lot.

Are intervalls important at this stage, or will an hour of jogging a day show decent results?
Of course, since I'm big, I usually run for five minutes, and then walk for 2 to get my breathing back to normal, and continue like that for an hour.
Any tips on simple runningtechniques?

Just jog until you can't jog anymore. What's so hard about that?

Change your diet as well. Eat healthy.

If you're an avid internet addict, /fit/ should be your home page.

Stand up and walk around when using the computer for more than 20 minutes.

That's actually great advice. I'm a skinny fuck and I can't help but be walking around a lot. I think that all the fidgeting, and active shit I do is the reason for my faster metabolism. I can't HELP it. I just automatically stand up every 20 minutes and walk around.

I'll make sure to give it a go.
I've also made myself a promise to go out more, not just for exercising, but just to be out and about.
Photography is one of my little hobbies, so I am thinking about making a personal blog where I go out every day to a new location and take a picture.

Could be a good thing to do, it's something I used to enjoy but stopped doing a few years ago, and it would be a good way to track my progress.

About two years ago I weighed 205 and was about 5'8. Today I weigh about 160. Here's what I did.

Don't eat snacks. Only drink water. Eat breakfast. Don't eat after 4 pm. Also, eat less of everything.

\Maintaining fat is difficult; it requires lots of food. Eating like 1500 calories a day will show results within a month.

I started running again.

Quit smoking and all that jazz.

I"m 220 and getting there man. I'm with you!

Thanks for the inspiration, will try to eat just a banana or an apple if I really have to before it gets too late in the evening.
But I will try to stop eating before 6-7pm (pm is in the evening right? eurofag here).

The hardest part is getting your metabolism going again. The trick is to eat more often in smaller portions. It is really hard to start because you might be used to eating a couple large meals a day. Also a little bit of dumbell work and bodyweight squats and lunges really help you get your metabolism going. Also those meals should be good food, nothing fast food, nothing deep fried, and look up the glycemic index for what carbs to eat. Try to eat more in the morning then at night. Also lurk more and lurn.

I hope I'll be able to go to the beach next summer, as long as I don't have a big belly and flabby upper arms I'll be going with my head held high in pride.

Thank you.
I am looking up some small exercises that I can do when I wake up and try to build up on as I get stronger and can endure more.
