Hello /fit/
This is my first time posting here.

I read a long time ago about a Japanese fitness training that relies completely upon the body for a workout. No weights or anything. It's meant to be extremely intense but very effective.
Anyone have any idea what it is and where I can learn more?

They used it for their Olympic training if I'm not mistaken.

Are you thinking of Tabata Intervals? Those are some of the most puke-inducing workouts I've ever experienced.

I have no idea to be honest. Sorry.
How effective are they?

The closest you'd get would be rings\pbar and maybe high bar gymnastics style training, or circus\acrobatics, but even then in terms of muscular growth it's very VERY limited. The asians are masters of "we use tai chi and bodyweight and shit" then we just lie about what we can do, and all our pro athletes take a fuckton of drugs.

That's most likely it.
How effective is the workout?

You need to look at the differences between the physiology of asians you yourself.

If you are asian, go to town. If you are a normal sized person, you prob wouldnt be able to do such activities.

Definitely Tabata protocol.

I've looked up the Tabata interval program.

It seems very similar to HIIT cardio training to me (Tabita intervals are 20 second high-intensity, then 10 second regular intensity).

Not effective enough to talk about unless you're a competitive gymnast, or interested in becoming an acrobat?

Awesome. That's all I needed to know.
Cheers all!

P.S. Not Asian. :)
