Are there any objective studies about vegan diet vs. meat diet when it comes to athletic performance? I admit I don't give a shit about animal treatment, I just want to get most benefit from my food. It seems that nowadays vegans are shouting about how healthy their diet is and claiming it's good for athletes too, so any truth to this?

Humans haven't even adapted to our high-sugar diets yet. Why do you think so many diabetics? They become insulin resistant because of the huge blood sugar spikes. You think we have evolved enough to efficiently process only plants? Sure we can live without meat, the human body is an amazing machine and will continue to subsist on practically anything you give it, but it will eventually degrade because of this treatment imo. If you really want to live forever though, supposedly almost starving yourself is the way to go.

"In studies going back to the 1930's, mice and many other species subsisting on a severely calorie-restricted diet have consistently outlived their well-fed peers by as much as 40 percent. But just how a diet verging on the brink of starvation extends lifespan has remained elusive."

Vegan diets are really not that healthy for you. What the fuck are you thinking?

I admit that you *can* do a vegan diet right and be healthy. It's a lot fucking harder to do this properly than it is with a normal diet.

I went through a vegan stage once. I even joined a vegan cooking coop. They were all hardcore about being healthy and eating a proper diet. 3 months later, I started to feel like shit, and I realized that I was malnurished.

I quit, cooked myself a steak, and poured a big glass of milk. The next day I felt great.

it's hard for vegan people to get essentials nutrients like vitamin b-12 and protein

its pretty easy to get protein, but it can be difficult to get complete protein sources. Also, its impossible for vegans to get b12 in their diet, they have to supplement it

plants are not the problem, its all the grains in our diets. We have been living off of plants, nuts, fruits, etc long before we adopted meat into our diets. Grains however have just been domesticated in the last thousand or so years.

wins the prize on 'why veganism is failtrain'
-also why 'high carbs' 'whole grains' and 'low fat' movements are total shit, completely twisted from medical research to suit the financial needs of the FDA and big corporate food producers (think about all the food in the rows of grocery stores (not around the outside edge), its all boxes full of mass produced, processed, carby shit designed w/shelf-lifes as the premier motivation for ingredients.

That's only true of dumbshit failure vegans who don't know how to balance their diets. There are tons of vegan products fortified with B12. There are plenty of good vegan protein sources.

I'm not saying it's necessarily more healthy than a diet that includes animal products or even a viable option for everyone. Just don't dismiss it because a few anorexic girls collapsed because all they ate was celery and Diet Coke.

honestly, I completely dismiss people when they try to tell me that veganism is healthier than an omnivorous diet. I have no problem with people being vegan for animal rights, good for them. But dont try to bullshit me that you are healthier. The only reason vegans are healthier is because they have to watch their diets so meticulously to avoid anemia. Imagine if the rest of the general population watched their diet like their life depended on it.

I am a vegetarian because I have a shitload of allergies and can't digest meat. The only animal products I eat are eggs and goat cheese. I often go weeks without both.

A near vegan diet is healthier for me.
