Water Fasting. Anonymous
So, I'm on Day Two of a water/tea fast. What does /fit/ think of them?

Evidently, water fasting is supposed to be great for detox and general health. I haven't been really hungry yet, though it feels weird not rummaging around in the kitchen or grabbing a snack. I'm not on water alone, per se - there's also tea and those damned sugar-free, five-cal flavor packs you shake up in a bottle of water.

So, what's your opinion, guys? Hate it, tried it? Thoughts, suggestions?

Christ, niggers, calm down. I was only planning on doing it for three days - maybe a week at most. I'm at a healthy body weight, and I try work out at least twice a week. I have no real hang-ups about my body, but I thought I'd try detox or whatever and see what happens. After that I'll go back to my steady diet of WHEY PROTEIN AND SQUATZ LOL

A few days is ok but anything more than that is total bullshit. You should know better.

Drinking water, tea, and those flavor packs only have nothing to do with detoxing your body. You've only fallen in to another one of those false spiritual, pseudo intellectual hippie traps.
"Eliminating food purifies and detoxifies the body, activates its ability to heal itself and improves emotional well-being."
Actually eating a well balanced diet, low in cholesterol, saturated fats, and free of processed foods detoxes the body.
Water by it self does no detox you of anything. Do you know what water is? H20. And H20 doesn't magically go around and detox your body of "bad things"
Also did you not notice that none of those web sites list any sources? They all have no scientific backing? They show no research, data, and they have no control studies.

"Drinking distilled water will give you the best results in your water fast. Because of its inherent magnetic properties and ability to absorb the maximum quantities of toxins from the body"

It's obvious they have no idea what they are talking about. This "magnitisim" That they are talking about is the reason water sticks together(example surface tension of water) H20 Molecules stick together because of a electron attraction between the hydrogen of one molecule to the oxygen of another water molecule. It's a weak atraction, that is easily broken, and IT DOES NOT MAGICALLY DETOXIFY the body.

I occasionally do the same thing one day a month, but instead of water and that fake flavor shit I make fruit juices and herbal teas while i snack on bits of fruit

Fasting is only decent as a spiritual thing, if you're into that kind of bullshit. Which you aren't. So bad idea, I'd say. You will not lose weight this one. The body "detoxes" itself on its own anyway.

Sugar-free 5 calorie packs = aspartame = poison.
