/fit/, I've been plateauing for three weeks now. I was thinking about eating 500 more calories tomorrow while not changing my cardio or anything, and then resuming my normal deficit the day after. Do you think this will have any positive/negative effect?

One day isn't going to do shit. Cut your cardio and eat 500 more calories for a few months, switch to a BB split or periodization program if you want to bust your plateau.

If you have problems gaining weight why are you still doing cardio?

No... I'm trying to lose fat here. But I've been plateauing for three weeks, and I read that increasing the amount you eat one day and eating normal again would do something to your metabolism or leptin levels... Basically a cheat meal, but I'm going to try to spread extra calories through out the day.

Boosting your calories by allowing yourself to eat more on one day (as in eat what you are craving) once a week boosts your leptin levels, thats the cheat day. It makes it easier to persevere mentally and helps prevent your body from going into starvation mode where it clings on to everything you eat.

So yeah raising your calorie intake once a week may help (focus on carbs also on your cheat day).
