Strength standards.

5'11 154lb weightlifter here.
I wonder how strong is a regular fit 18y.o. teenager.
I'm 18 y.o. and i started quite skinny. My goal was to become atleast as good or better than people of my age. I'm not sure how strong they are thought.
People of my age in the gym Bench more than me and usually are better than me at other exercises. However, they're more into isolation exercises, but i still feel inferior.

Here's exrx's strength standard page. I'm not sure where i should place an 'active' --teen--. This chart is about --adults--. At 18 y.o., you're not yet an adult, in my head.

I want a certain point of reference, to know what strenght i have to reach to become average, then above average. Inb4 insecure faggot, this is an intermediate goal. I want to squat the double of my bodyweight and stuff.

Pic related: This is the archetypical 'fit teenager' i'm talking about.

That guy in the pic is a skinny bitch

As a side note, you are much more of a skinny bitch

I would consider an 18 year old an adult.

Those numbers for 'untrained', which is what I would consider the average person, seem a little low. I would consider the numbers for 'Novice' about average for a regular person.

i respect your approach bud but you have to be way more specific, if you repost and actually CLARIFY want you want us to tell you, i might participate.

*sigh* TLDR; How strong is an average active healthy teenager?

>>123354
Exactly, those numbers are low because they picked adults from all ages, not all 18 year olds. A 45 year old suit-and-tie man probably fits well in the Untrained category but i'm not sure about a 18.yo guy.

Yea, compared to you.

Mind me asking what that guy has a medal in? Cause I'm assuming you just took that picture from Google, and being only "average" doesn't get you medals. What I'm inferring here is that you need to review the context of this situation. If your looking at only the average, then you shouldn't focus on the guys in the gym alone, they are not just the typical run of the mill 18 year old, but rather more committed. You cant take a starting football or soccer player and consider them average. Understand what I'm driving at?

Without knowing what medal it is, i can assume it's not a big deal. I have medals like these in my trash can. It's just plastic.

I guess there's some misunderstanding because i didn't mean to compare myself to an average young man, i compared myself to the average of the *physicly active young men*, wich is more active than simply the average of young men.

Bingo, thats what I'm driving at. Wanting to be average in the general population is much different from wanting to be average in the "active" range. You might also want to narrow it further, as the average soccer player probably isn't putting up a huge bench, but it sounds more like your thinking the bulkier sports and whatnot. Being a thinfag myself, I cant give you too much help besides telling you to just keep god damn pushing until you're a hugefag.

I don't think i can narrow it anymore because football players probably squat 250lbs more than me and that's too much gap. I was thinking about someone who plays all sports equally instead of only playing american football.
