i've always wondered how mas oyama afforded to do the training he was so famous for. i've always wanted to do something similar. train in the isolated wilderness for long periods of time. but i could never figure out how i would eat. what type of shelter i would need. i just wonder how he did it.

Probably by either bringing food or hunting/gathering it.

i figure he had his sponsor bring him food supplies. probably didnt have time to really hunt if he was training 10+ hrs. maybe trapping

What is he punching?

Most likely either a block of wood tied to a tree, a block of rock tied to a tree, or tightly wrapped rope tied to a tree.

Either way, it conditions the knuckles like hell, and getting hit by one of his punches may actually end you

He DID kill a guy with one of those rockfist punches, so I'd say it's more or less proven.

I thought he was supposed to have done that training while working for a widow whose husband he killed. She probably would have fed him

Every god damn site about the guy ever.

Unlike many other "Shows of Incredible Martial Artist Skill" performed by a "Legendary Master of The Art", Oyama's shit actually managed to crowd witnesses around him that weren't singularily his own students.
