So /fit/ my friends want me to go to a party this weekend and they want to introduce me to weed. I have never done it and I was wondering if it would affect me in a way that I forget shit and that I can't work out. Will I get so addicted that my /fit/ lifestyle will change?
>> Anonymous
Not really, no. You probably won't feel anything the first time.

EXCEPT CANCER.
>> Anonymous
I doubt any burgeoning cannabis addiction could beat out a well-established SQUATZ addiction.
>> Anonymous
i smoke weed after every workout, more or less.
>> Anonymous
OP here, I just don't want the weed to "slow me down" too much that I become a lazy fatass addict
>> Anonymous
Do not do drugs. They are bad for you. Yes, even marijuana is bad for you, ever heard of smoke inhalation? If it is your life goal to be as fit as possible, there is no place in your life for any drugs, except the ones prescribed by a doctor. By that, I mean basically only antibiotics. Even if you have ADHD you can force yourself to concentrate without pills, and most diseases can be prevented or removed with a rigorous regimen of healthy diet and exercise. Do not do drugs...your friends should not force you to do it or pressure you, if they do, you should get some more friends.
>> Anonymous
>>367396
I'm not that weak that I cannot stand up to my friends and say "NO" but I was contemplating if I should try it to relax me
>> Anonymous
>>367396
Everything in moderation.
THC is not chemically addicting, and there is no lethal dosage of it. Use it responsibly (like alcohol) and it's a non issue. Also, be sure to use a pipe or a better yet a bong, when you smoke a joint you're inhaling burnt paper too and that = cancerous.
>> Anonymous
>>367396
Get real, guy. Smoking once in a while is not going to be a problem.
>> Anonymous
My friends lied to me my first time I smoked weed. They told me it was kb (the weak kind), when it was really purple haze (the strong kind). Shit had me stoned for hours. Never smoked up again. Those fuckers actually did me a favor, seeing as how the experience was so terrible that I never wanted to do it again.
>> Anonymous
If you wish to relax try riding a bike, swimming, or running. Be sure to stretch out before, lest you get cramped.

>> Anonymous
I dont want to scare you and say yes, your lifestyle will definately change and you will be a lazy fatass... but lets just say the odds arent in your favor.

>> I'm not that weak that I cannot stand up to my friends and say "NO"

you're weak not if you say no, but if you say yes. There's a reason its called standing up for yourself.
>> Anonymous
>>367404try it to relax me
No. The smoke will sting your eyes, it will burn your throat, and you'll cough uncontrollably. Smoking is something you have to do a few times to acquire. By all means, try it if you are interested, but don't expect it to be especially relaxing.
>> Anonymous
>>367413
>Hippies
Your argument holds so much water when compared to controlled scientific studies regarding lethal dosages of various recreational drugs.

>>367414
If you don't abuse the drug, or any drug for that matter, you will be fine. It is perfectly safe to kick back and relax with a cup of wine as well as a bowl of weed.
>> Anonymous
>>367419
Only with a joint. Burning paper = bad. A pipe or a bong (or hooka even) makes the experience much more pleasant.
>> Anonymous
>>367433
agreed... pipe is so much better
>> Anonymous
>>367412
or smoke some weed
>> Anonymous
>>367433
It will be a bit more pleasant, yes. It's still a pretty harsh smoke though.
>> Anonymous
>>367412
Also, I don't know what the fuck you've been smoking, but I always feel more alert and energized after a workout. Not relaxed.
>> Anonymous
>>367413

It always makes me think when I see people talking about weed not being addictive. Everyone of my friends that smoke weed do so very often since they have tried it.

OP, I would suggest you not do it. Have a drink if you want to relax. Also most of my friends who smoke weed have turned into total shit fucks.

The argument was whether or not there was a lethal dosage of THC. And while there is, it's physically impossible to ingest a large enough amount of pot to do so.
If you abuse any substance, it will be bad for you in the long run.
>> Anonymous
>>367537

Just so you know, this study was conducted with injections of THC, not smoking which provides a much lower does of the drug.
>> Anonymous
>>367538
Let's put it this way. The lethal dose of THC is about the same as a carrot.
>> Anonymous

I don't like the altered state of mind, and I don't like the laziness that it produces. Not physically addicting, but people become addicted to the feeling of the high. Maybe it's not going to kill you, but the government made the right call when they decided to ban it.
>> Anonymous
listen, if you smoke (and drink, while we're at it), you're not gonna get big. it's just so much easier to be at the equilibrium of normal health and chemistry...not just for fitness, but for most things actually. sleep, concentration, mental health...there are certainly no health benefits at all to smoking or drinking. in that way, it could be compared to mcdonalds and other zero-nutritional-value foods.

And if you do get addicted, you can very easily go cold turkey. I used to smoke every day, and then all of the sudden, I went a whole month without smoking trees barely even thinking about marijuna.

Now, I'll admit one thing, you will undoubtedly get some intense munchies, but hey, just work out some more during the week. If you're working out smart enough, some white castle burgers shouldn't send your whole diet and work-out schedule to hell.
