I get my degree in three weeks and my plan is to enlist in the USMC Marines in about April.My question is this....I have thought about joining a local Crossfit but I've heard both negative and positive things about cross fit.I wanted some opinions about it. Preferably from government employees with weight on their hip.Will it prepare me to be better then your average recruit or should I use my techniques at home and save my money.
Well, what's your weakness? Can you do fifty pushups in strict form? Pullups? Or is running and cardio where you're weak?Frankly, considering the needs of the Marines, run lots, do 50 pushups and as many pullups as you can do at the drop of a hat and you should be fine.
From what I've seen, they have good resouces, and a good atmosphere in their gyms. Although supplement your xfit training with extra weight training and running.
IN the past I've been able to do 12 pull-ups consecutively but lately I've become weak.As for push-ups I don't think I've ever broken the 50 mark (with strict form).With running its hard for me to break the 9 minute mile barrier but yet I use to be accustom to running for 50+ minutes.However I have three months to train to simply be better then the average Joe. I'm a 23 year old college old man not trying to be a 18 year old football player.I just need something that works. Done p90x and its good but lack in strength.ARmstrong program work but only for pull-ups, Navy seal program is okay but can't be adjusted.
