Hey I'HNNNGNGGGGGHHHH!!! Anonymous
Hello /fit/, fat bastard here.

I'm 300 pounds, 6"1', and definetively need to loose weight. I used to exercise alot when i was younger, such as swimming and jogging 5 out of 7 days a week until i stopped. My present situation:

* I smoke.
* I don't eat breakfast.
* I drink water and occasionally diet Coke (Causes sugar addiction, stopping this)
* I don't eat sweets.
* I eat vegetables.
* I DONT MOVE.

So, i ask you, how would one go about starting exercise? Asked a mate and heard start situps/pushups and some weights for the first week or so, then increase as i become able to, but what is really the best way for an actual "fat" person to loose weight without really building muscle? (Muscle isnt an issue, carrying this body has built them more than enough).

Target is 264 or so pounds, then beyond when i start making progress.

Start walking & lifting weights(light, 20lbs or so) & then move onto running & heavier weights. It will put stress on your body if you just decide to go all out. I just recently placed basketball after 3-4 years & my feet are hurting after 2 days, yesterday was ok but today it hurts a lot more along with my leg muscles. So move gradually.

Start slow. Don't listen to anyone who starts telling you to run x miles a day etc.

For the first month (perhaps two as you're pretty big) just generally become more healthy. Walk long distances, try to walk a mile every day, drink water and cut out all cokey crap (Perhaps a can a week, etc)

Start a balanced diet. watch what you eat, aim for one type of dinner each day. (A day of white meat, a day of red meat etc)

Go for big breakfast, medium lunch and small dinner.

Cba to make a proper how-to here, but one thing I'd reccomend:

Get a good, accurate scale, write down what you are at first measurement, then aim to lose at least one pound a week/two weeks.

Thanks for all the replies, i do appreciate it!

At the moment i try to walk as much as i can as well as cutting down on and watching what i eat. Secondly, i walk up and down my 6 flights of stairs to get to my apartment, as well as around 30 situps and 10 push ups a day.

Lost 6½ pounds this way over 2 weeks, so i sound like im on track but as always input is valuable and any advice is taken to heart.

Thanks again everyone.
