help needed help me get fit Anonymous
hey /fit/
i am a 17 year old obese girl
i have always been fat my entire family is
even when i was little my mom would stuff me with sugary goods and whenever i got bullied she'd tell me they just were jealous.
well now i'm sick of it i tried many diets when i lived with my parents but none worked because its hard being the only one eating rabbit food while others go to mc donalds.
but i moved out of the house 2 weeks ago and i live with my boyfriend now.
i REALLY wanna go loose some weight now because my boyfriend supports me and all.
but all the diets i find online are for people who are just a little chubby. i need a diet program for someone who's already really obese.
so /fit/ help me out what do i start with?

focus on losing around 1 pound per week, that way your skin is able to keep up with the weightloss. You can do this by making PERMANENT changes to your diet (cut crap replace with vegetables etc) and get your (imaginary?) boyfriend to lose weight too, that way you can be eachothers motivators

right, firstly cut out your thing (whether its cake, pie, pasties, sweets, fried food, mc donalds etc) i cut out Cornish pasties and lost a stone in 2 weeks.

secondly eat a big, healthy breakfast- poached eggs on brown or wholemeal bread, or porridge, or baked beans on toast, or wheetabix, or shredded wheat. any one of those with 3 pieces of fruit. a big healthy breakfast will stop hunger through the day.

chew your food and eat slowly- the more chews you do sends signals to your brain to say you're full. it works, think about it, if you shovel down food you eat more, if you chew you feel full quicker. try it.

snacks- rice cakes with low fat cream cheese, add things like celery and carrots. it is tasty. fruit, seeds, raisins and carrot and celery sticks.

as for lunch and dinner there are plenty of healthy recipes out there- grill don't fry, plenty of veg and chew your food.

cardio- walk it does help lose the weight, when you lost a little start thinking about toning as you don't want excess skin. join the gym if you can afford it, it's a daunting feeling, but believe me you will get addicted and no one cares what you look like in there.

Anyway to the OP:
Kick start your metabolism in the morning by heating a healthy breakfast. Maybe some whole wheat toast with a thin layer of peanut butter (thin being keyword if you dont like whole wheat) with a poached/boiled egg. One thing that most people don't remember about is PORTION CONTROL. Remember to keep servings small, but manageable so you don't feel hungry for the rest of the day. if you do need to munch try cucumbers, celery, or carrots. Gives you a satisfying crunch without alot of extra crap in it. Drink lots of water.
Oh and I second the above post's comment about the gym. Nobody cares what you look like in there. I'm fairly new to the /fit/ lifestyle myself nd if anything, people were helpful if I was doing something wrong. :)

Run or walk in the morning before eating anything. You have to break a sweat or it will be pointless. Never skip out on breakfast. Eat a lot of vegetables. Broccoli and tomatoes are your friend. You can make a healthy stir fry using extra virgin olive oil to fry the veggies. Eat brown rice.

Don't listen to commercials that tell what's healthy and what's not. Do some research online. This should get you started.

Eat a lot of small meals, counting calories and balancing nutrients. Drink water nothing else, it's all you need.

If you are really really fat try swimming or a stationary bike for cardio that wont hurt your joints. If you aren't that fat then run, try and do at least 30-45 min every other day. If you can do some bodyweight exercises to help boost your metabolism and burn more fat.

A few words for you:
- portion control
- fresh fruits and vegetables instead of candy and snacks
- less canned etc food, make more food from scratch
- do NOT lose a lot of weight rapidly. The quicker you lose a lot of weight, the more your skin will sag when you've achieved a normal weight. Focus on just changing your lifestyle to a healthier one, and you'll gradually attain your ideal weight.
- do intense exercising 2-3 times a week, do low-intense exercise on a daily basis.
- be a pedestrian as much as you can. Even when you can't walk somewhere, avoid taking the car or bus all the way to your destination: let people drop you off a few blocks earlier, and walk the rest. Start swimming frequently: it strengthens your muscles without your knees getting subjected to as much wear and tear.
- learn to cook efficiently (i recommend watching the show Good Eats), and learn what you can substitute things with.
- educate yourself about health and fitness. The internet has a ton of useful information.
- do not quit eating unhealthy food. The temptations'll just get too bad. Just eat wayy less of everything unhealthy, and slowly: Savour everything you're eating. Compensate for unhealthy dishes the rest of the day. For instance if you know you're gonna have some cake in the evening, have perhaps salad with diced turkey for breakfast and spicy lentil soup for lunch.
- Have only tops one meal a day that's meat-based.
- Have six meals a day, 3 'snack' meals inbetween 3 bigger meals. Brushing your teeth 3 times a day instead of 2 might be good.
- It's not what you're eating that's unhealthy, it's how much of various things you're eating that's unhealthy. A little candy once a while is hardly bad. Candy frequently is very bad.

lunchinabox.net might be useful when it comes to portion control. Eat food you haven't made yourself as little as possible, even when not at home.

As stated, fat once a while is not bad for you. In fact, it's vital you get certain fats into your body or else it'll malfunction. Omega-3, omega 6 etc. Just try to make sure you get most of those from ingredients in salads and other dishes rather than adding oil (that is, by e.g. flax, nuts, fish, avocado). Don't be afraid of adding oil to dishes though, just don't eat oily dishes often.

Oh, by the way, when you're eating cooked vegetables, try to steam instead of boiling them. Preserves more of the flavour and nutrients. Fry as little as possible.

You might also want to read up on glycemic load. It'll help you with staying less hungry between the meals.

But yeah, I can't understate how vital it is you eat healthy and don't try to diet. Fatter people than you have died from starvation and malnourishment when trying to diet, being seriously overweight is no protection against that.

The "cradle of civilisation" was in the middle east, the "cradle of humanity" was sub-saharan Africa where we spend most of our early years lingering around the coasts collecting seafood.

Even after we reached the tempered zone, ran out of easier options and found plants worth cultivating, it still took a long time and lots of hard work to cultivate something comparable to today's food crops, since their wild ancestors were barely edible.

I found that I started dropping weight when I got myself an active job.
So if you're changing your lifestyle (I assume you're ready to do this, otherwise there is NO POINT and you can GTFO) then look around for an activity or hobby (preferably not cooking). Nothing strenous, especially if you aren't used to running around. Just by taking up your spare time doing other things makes you think less about your next meal.

Also: Get your boyfriend in on this. Find out what he means by 'support' you. Is he going to change his lifestyle too? Eat the same food as you? Will he be willing to do this for the rest of his life? Because it will be super-hard for you to keep changing if he is holding you back. Weight loss and lifestyle changes are easier when you're single.
