I'm a low to mid level practitioner currently doing parkour and looking into maybe trying out a bit of freerunning (flips and shit are still slightly scary to me).
If you want to get into Parkour, my advice to get in shape like someone else already mentioned in this thread. Let's face it, we all hanging around 4chan; it's unlikely that many of us are have the best power to weight ratio.
I for one know that I was pathetically weak even for my weight when I first started about a year ago. Train your flexibility as well, because that will save your ass when you bail and believe me, you will many times especially when you're learning a new vault.
You don't need to get too beefed up, in fact, too might weight might hinder you in the long run. However try to get as much explosive strength as possible. Consult a trainer at a local gym for the best exercises to accomplish this.
Lastly, look up a crew to practice with in your area. Most major metropolis would have a group of guys willing to train together with you as long as you stay committed. Many of these groups will have a website or forum where they discuss techniques, organizes jams or search for training partners in their own neighbourhoods.
