Also, how often is it ok to lift weights? I'm doing 5x5 routine, wondering if 2 day rest is enough? First rest day I'm usually quite dead, but the following day I could go for some lifts, but I'm scared that training too much will backfire/give a shitty experience alltogether.

2 days minimum, if you still feel sore after those 2 days, give yourself another day. you gain your muscle when its rebuilding, not when you are tearing them down by weight training.
