If you're a runner, I have a treat for you.
I'm sure I'll be called a salesman or some shit like that, but honestly these are awesome shoes for running. If you have low body fat and lift weights, you might have already noticed that gripping each individual digit/finger of your hand corresponds to a muscle movement on your forearm. These shoes make use of pretty much the same idea. You won't be running with your toes, but these shoes definitely keep you putting pressure on the part of the foot that actually works toward specific muscular development.

I just got these in the mail last week and took them through a test-run over the weekend.

Fitting was kind of a hassle due to their weird sizing, but after I swapped for a smaller size once, and got a do-able size to work with, I HIIT it up over the span of two miles two days straight Saturday and Sunday. Gentlemen, this is the holy graal of running shoes. I run every day, both distance and speed depending on what I feel like, and rarely ever get sore anymore. Using these, I was sore immediately as if it were my first time running, and there's muscle definition in my legs that I've never seen before between my calves and front of foot. Today I went back to normal running shoes because I didn't want to injure myself from the awesomeness, and it was noticeably much easier to run because of it. So these strange shoes are definitely a great way to push yourself further as a runner if you're looking for that challenge.

Downsides include looking like a retard and drawing a lot of strange looks from people while running in them, along with initial pain in certain toes if you're not perfectly morphed.

The benefits are amazing new-found strength in your calves.

Any questions?

Umm... first off, I would NEVER wear those.
2nd. I run barefoot (on the beach), would these things be an upgrade from running barefoot too? Or are they just an upgrade from ultra-padded running shoes?

If you run barefoot already, great, screw these then. The idea of these is that the insoles in your regular running shoes are bullshit and cause certain calve muscles to shrink/die a great deal. These shoes only put on the bare minimum amount of rubber below the critical points of your soles as to protect from stepping on debris. I use these on concrete.

But if you're only running barefoot on sand, then you're working more the upper leg muscles which absorb the shock than the calve muscles which deal with the muscles connected to your soles. It's somewhat an entirely different running game, barefoot on soft and hard surfaces.

These things are actually really, really awesome.

Also: google "pose running" and "chi running"

Form is very important.
