>> Rip in a nutshell Anonymous
blah blah blah, preaching the obvious to the ignorant masses of beginners. never coming up with a single original thought. having are hardon for fucking crossfit. thinking 'milk' is the solution to all problems. thinking the science of periodization is 'just add 5lbs each week'

Goddamn, look at those graphs. Today I'm going to graph instead of working out.

Why isn't Mr. Rip in better shape?

Anyways I love me some stronglifts, and what is wrong with adding 5lbs each workout to each exercise?

So for the squats that is 15lbs a week, not 5lbs, anyways.

because when in shape, you will look like a bodybuilder.

I didn't mean to imply that I figured he should look like Coleman or anything disproportionate like that, he just sort of looks plain... Guess for a guy his age that is better.

I'm sure he must be quite strong, I just thought he would look more defined.

With a 5x5, you can't lift as intensely as with a 3x5 scheme. For example, a 5x5 you'll be squatting 45 lbs, whereas with a 3x5 you can be squatting 75 lbs.

And Rippetoe is in pretty strong for a 50+ year old. Some video on YouTube has him squatting 315 lbs for 10 reps, which puts his estimated 1RM at 420 lbs.

Personally I'm not aiming for oly lifter type strength, some I'm happy with 5x5 for now.

I'm doing good bra, went 225lbs, 230lbs, 235lbs this week and I'm 200lbs, so I'll get to 300lbs in no time.

Ok, I'll bite, flamer.

Rip knows more about teaching novices the major lifts than you know about jerking your dick off to CP in /b/. SS isn't a periodization scheme and isn't sold as such. It's a protocol for beginners to get as big and strong as possible in as little time as possible.

Do 5x5 squats 3x a week and drink a gallon of whole milk a day and see what happens.

Till then, stfu.

I think you mean 3x5

you get fat. seriously, 0,1 and 2% have just as much protein, why chug cow nipple lard?
>> Anonymous
>>411821

Sat. fat is good for people who workout
>> Anonymous
>>411821

Because 0,1, and 2% lack sufficient calories to fuel recovery from 5x5 squats at max weight three days a week. Protien is not the end-all, be-all macronutrient, despite what bb.com wants you to think.

You do put on bodyfat, but you put on a ton of muscle while you're at it. Get massive, then get lean. It's the only effective way to gain as much muscle mass as possible as quickly as possible without steroids or prohormones, and it'll stick with you a helluva lot longer. Even the bodybuilders who ARE on AAS know that you have to gain some fat when "bulking."
>> Anonymous
>>411855

since this is sort of relevant, how long would you guys recommend bulking for?
>> Anonymous
>>411866
until you get too fat

Hey, why'd you call me flamer... I do squats 3 times a week... Hell I'm following the stronglifts program.

A gallon of milk will make my heart explode won't it... I eat about one and a half times my body weight in grams of protein, some shakes, mostly meat, eggs, some milk.
