what are some good ways to protect yourself against ingrown hairs? I grown my bread a lot and I'm going to a job interview soon, I don't want to go looking as bad as the pic.

Wikipedia it and you get stuff like: shave a different direction, place warm cloth over area, etc...

you gotta shave with the grain instead of against it. try not to run the blade over one area too much. Also, shower first and soak your face with HOT water and massage it. After, dont dry your face, apply shaving cream evenly and let it sit for about a minute. Also, after done shaving use some sort of shaving balm.

Most importantly dont shave against the grain.

carson magic shave
unscented
use spaaaaaringly - it chemically burns away the top-layer of skin (which frees the ingrown hairs by the next day)
use too much or for too long = purple burns

but it works really well, just don't overdo it.
good luck on your interviews

I have slightly curly hair - ingrown hairs are a fucking disaster for me.. I find that COLD shaving works best (as in if your pores are locked) so you are only shaving the very tip of the hair.

You will shave more often, but it's better than looking like you have an STD on your neck.
