My GF has been trying to lose weight for a while now so I did some research and set up what I think is a good plan for her...

Here's a run down...

5'09"
18 years old
200 lb
about 1760 BMR (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/)

- Eats mostly salads, water, stays away from fast food and other blatant junk food
- Eats no more than 1500 calories per day, doesn't completely starve herself, just makes sure she doesn't exceed 1500
- Plays DDR daily as an excersize, uses the games "Workout Mode" to reach a goal of 3,500 calories burned per week

What do you think? Will she see any results? Is this a bit overkill? I don't want her to end up sick or with an eating disorder of some kind.
>> Anonymous
Yeah she will see results.

In like, 8 years maybe.

Oh yeah and she eats lean "white" meat like fish and chicken, no "red" meats like beef, stake, pork, bacon and the like.

You serious? if she eats under her BMR and excersizes daily with the DDR, that's a sure fire plan right? I was hoping she would lose a normal pound or two every week and lose significant weight within months.

ok forget the ddr and wii for exercise, she should do some real cardio like running or bike ridding, and use weights to build muslce and burn more fat. She should eat a well balnced diet not just vegatbables, but good carbs, lean protein and vegatbles. You wont lose weight if you just to ddr and eat salad sorry bt its true
>> Anonymous
that's not overkill, at all.
If she's fucking serious how about this:
-No Soda
-No Fast Food
-No Candy
-Five small meals a day, not eating three hours before bed
-No fucking DDR as exercise, how about running for two miles. every day.
-Reading the nutritional facts of all food you pick up and using that information, become a fucking nazi about it.
>> Anonymous
- avoid processed sugar.
- water motherfucker, drink it.
- less meat and breads.
- more vegetables.
- cardio
- cardio
-cardio

have sex all day. it will burn all the calories.

To everyone saying DDR won't help...

She hits the gym occasionally maybe twice or three times a week, goes on the cycles, treadmills etc. when she can on the weekends. She uses the DDR when she's at home, and tracks calories she burns on both to reach at least 3,500 a week.

If she insists on using DDR, she should forget about the workout mode. Just make her play the songs that are fucking hard (lvl 9 and up) and she'll sweat like a pig.

You have a BMR of 2192.36.

If shes going to the gym 2-3 times a week, do you go with her? If shes really serious, she should lift heavy weights when she goes to the gym PLUS cardio when shes done. If she says anything about not wanting to get bulky, fucking slap her. Do heavy compound lifts like squats (pic related). Look around stronglifts.com for a good indication on how to do the exercises and get stronger, it has some good nutrition advice as well (look at the weight loss articles). If you want an even more in depth advice on doing the exercise with correct form, go download Starting Strength in the rapidshare thread.

Fucking this. Former female fatty here, at first I did mostly cardio, but then I started lifting, and my weight came off even faster (not like a miracle or anything, though)

Hold the fuck up. 200lb, 5'9"???

Answer to your question is dump that bitch already

At that height, 200lb is obese, but it isn't catastrophic fat. I knew a female who was 5'2" and about 210lbs.

She says she is but she don't have a scale and I don't believe it, she's not unbelievably obese, a lil thick, but hardly FAT fat...

That's her body.

just make her run and control her diet, some weight training would help too

You do know the purpose of calculating BMR, right? Habitually eating less than her body's minimum daily caloric requirement (which is what BMR is essentially) will slow down weight loss, and may adversely affect her metabolism in the long run. She needs to eat at least as many calories a day as the BMR recommends.

She needs to-
-Eat whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat breads and pastas, etc.), a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables (frozen is also acceptable, watch for added salt or fat in canned veggies), lean meats and low-fat or fat-free dairies every day.
-Limit things that are fried or contain refined sugar to "special occasion" foods, but don't cut them out entirely. A main reason diets fail is because too much depravation will eventually cause the dieter to cheat or give up. Allowing "junk" once in awhile (as in, a few times a month) alleviates the cravings and helps keep dieters on track.
-Exercise at least 4 days a week. Get a heart rate monitor to make sure she's working hard enough. Take breaks if she needs to, or start slow with low-intensity stuff, because working so hard you hurt yourself and are unable to exercise the next day is counterproductive.
-Visit a doctor to rule out medical causes for her weight. She may have a slow metabolism caused by inadequate thyroid production, or she may be on medications that cause weight gain.
-And finally, don't judge weight loss by the number on the scale, and don't compare her own weight loss to others'. In fact, hide the scale if she has one, and don't buy one if she doesn't. Women lose weight much slower than men, and constantly seeing not much progress in terms of number loss can get very discouraging. Increased muscle mass from more exercise, as well as water weight from the menstrual cycle, can skew results. Judge weight loss from how your clothes fit, and how you feel ("I feel less tired after this workout than I did a month ago!").
