ok /fit/

for the past couple of months ive been a diet of almost exclusively ramen & rice and sparkling flavored water. before every single meal i run 15 minutes and then eat.

yes i know this isnt a very healthy way to go about losing weight and yes i know i should run longer and yes i know my metabolism is fucked and yes i know that im losing muscle mass and yes i know i need protein and yes i know this is going to bite me in the ass in a million ways once i come off this diet. i dont care. this for the moment is working for me and im starting to get laid again. ive lost a shirt size and my pants fit really fucking loose now.

the nutrition facts for the rice is almost completely zero across the board as is the sparkling water. ive also taken in a bunch of rice cakes for the same reason.

my question is does /fit/ know of any other zero zero zero zero zero zero foods like that? i'm not tired of the rice/ramen mixture by any means but i wouldnt mind having a few more options.?

i was under the impression white rice had alot of carbs in it.

And just an fyi, there was a pair of college roomies i heard about how lived off ramen for an extended period of time and ended up getting some disease that hadnt been seen since like 1900. i forget which, its a well known one too, just be sure youre getting your vitamens.

OP here: the rice has 35 grams of carbs per serving and i eat 4 servings at a time (which is just 1 cup)

but i take really nothing else in besides those 140grams of carbs. 420 grams at the most but usually 280 per day. but thats why i run. i know im not burning them all off but i know i am a little bit.

WORST IDEA EVER.
Don't ever deprave your body of needed nutrience, especially for losing weight. You can't starve yourself to look better, you'll just be a skinnier, more deficient you...
>> Anonymous
>>10650
Why are you eating only carbs instead of only protein?
>> Anonymous
The OP is retarded. This thread is retarded. This will now be my first sage on /fit/.
>> Anonymous
As much as i love carbs. White rice is terrible for you, especially if thats the only thing you are eating. It has a really high glycemic index. Like 108 on a 100 scale. This means it really fucks with your blood sugar making you more hungry afterwards and turns what ever you eat into fat more readily. Additionally ramen has palm oil and other shitty stuff in it. definitely not diet food, even for a retarded diet like yours.

That said if you continue this diet, at LEAST get a multivitamin. Lack of vitamins can slow weight loss.
>> Anonymous
You should supplement your diet with a crunches regime
>> Anonymous
>>11010
Eating only protein would be even worse. Forcing your body to burn large amounts of protein can cause lightheadedness and liver damage.

I'd suggest replacing white rice with brown rice. It's still not great for you, but at least the fiber will slow down the absorption of all the carbohydrates so you don't get extreme high and low energy fluctuations.

Each day I do martial arts I eat a large lunch of white rice + ginger chicken: 1cup uncooked white rice plus about 1lb of chicken. That shit keeps me full for 7-8 hours, of which include 3 hours of martial arts and about 45 minutes of walking/jogging/biking (depending on season). Whoever thinks white rice can't fill you up and keep you full is on crack, or has diabetes. Eating just the chicken would not even keep me close to full.

There are insane people in this thread who claim that eating white rice makes you actually hungrier than before and that it's basically the same as eating pure sugar.

Of course white rice isn't really nutritious just by itself, but it's certainly not the worst thing you can eat. Some guys should just get a fucking clue before they pretend to be nutrition experts.

ok, history lesson:

look at japan before world war 2. They were on a strictly rice diet, with a little bit of fish once in a while. How tall were they?

I rest my case.

If you want to call an average height of ~5 feet "healthy" by all means, do so. But do so with the knowledge that you're an idiot who thinks that rice is teh awesome sauce.
>> Anonymous
>There are insane people in this thread who claim that eating white rice makes you actually hungrier than before and that it's basically the same as eating pure sugar.

Even white rice after being processed is in starch form, which despite being a polymer composed of almost entirely glucose, requires time and energy to hydrolyze into the usable component parts.

Processed rice isn't good, but it ain't nearly as bad as a fucking Coke.

Not the guy you're responding to, but I kinda disagree with both points.

He's not right in claiming that they're healthy. I'm chinese, and looking at the few photos we have of my great-grandparents, they were tiny hunchbacked people, although not quite to the point of malnourishment.

But at the same time, it ISN'T the white rice that was unhealthy to the asian cultures. It was the LACK of other items with the proper nutrients. It just sounds a lot like you're blaming the rice for the diet problems, which are more cultural and geographic.

You just don't get it, do you? Rice is cheap, contains pretty much no fat and is excellent as a side dish. Nobody ever said you should eat just white rice. Even the OP admits that it's a bad idea, nutrition-wise.

However this retarded Fatkins reflex that immediately kicks in with some people like "OMG carbs! I'd rather clog my arteries with fat like Dr.Atkins, who incidentally had a heart attack" is idiotic.

How can you claim that eating rice makes you hungrier than before or that it's exactly the same as sugar with a straight face? Seriously, do a reality check.

rice is better for you than wheat and oatmeal and the rest, as wheat has some chemical in it that keeps your digestive system from being able to absorb certain nutrients

Just wondering, how come people in Japan have the longest life expectancy and the lowest obesity rate?

Fools, they should eat less carbs and more fat, so they can be bloated like Americans!

Also, some races grow taller, have longer dicks, doesn't necessarily have something to do with food.

That shit has very much to do with the food, and life expectancy only means you're gonna be withered and weak longer than others.

Double negative.

>It's a proven fact that refined carbs are a worthless source of nutrition.

No it isn't, you Fatkins turd. How is extra energy that doesn't damage your system worthless? It is however proven, that you'll increase the risk for certain cardiovascular diseases if you consume too much fat. It's also proven that processing lots of protein will stress your liver.

>How about instead of white rice and white bread (like many have already said and you've conviently ignored) you eat *gasp* wheat bread, whole grain pasta, and brown rice!

You are wrong, you fucking retard! White rice and white bread have nothing in them at all. They are BLEACHED and REFINED, which literally takes the nutrients out of the grain. Go look at the label of both white bread and wheat bread. Notice how the wheat bread actually has more calories and carbohydrates than white bread? Also, this has absolutely nothing to with the atkins diet, I don't know why you keep bringing that shit up.
>> Anonymous
>>11690
"You're a retard. So you think an African guy and a Japanese guy will both grow equally tall if you just feed them the same stuff?"

There has been significant correlations between the standard of living in a country and that countries average height. For example, most of the nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, etc.), Germany, and Holland, all had avg heights well below the u.s.'s in the early 20th century. After WW2, when the standard of living (better nutrition, health care) in European countires drastically increased so did the average heights. Holland's avg. height is now 6 feet(183cm) - which is 3 inches ABOVE the U.S.'s

There has also been a drastic increase in height recently in Asian countries, further solidifying this correlation.

"Recent animal research provides compelling evidence that high GI carbohydrate is associated with increased risk of obesity. In human trials, it is typically difficult to separate the effects from GI and other potentially confounding factors such as fibre content, palatability, and compliance. In the study (Pawlak et al, 2004), male rats were split into high and low GI groups over 18 weeks while mean bodyweight was maintained. Rats fed the high GI diet were 71% fatter and had 8% less lean body mass than the low GI group. Postmeal glycemia and insulin levels were significantly higher and plasma triglycerides were threefold greater in the high GI fed rats. Furthermore, pancreatic islet cells suffered "severely disorganised architecture and extensive fibrosis". The evidence in this study showed that continued consumption of high glycemic index carbohydrates would likely have led to the development of severe metabolic abnormalities."

So them having genetics that pre-determine height don't matter? Changes in location and nutrition may change the 'shutting down' of the DNA (I forget what you call a specific portion of DNA, slipping my mind) that triggers growth, but it's still only delayed and not entirely changed .. not for some thousands of years anyway I imagine.

This is why they were able to make a chicken embryo grow a longer tail similar to a dinosaurs. Not by delaying the DNA but by giving the chicken the protein that the DNA would have produced if it didn't turn off.

"Changes in location and nutrition may change the 'shutting down' of the DNA (I forget what you call a specific portion of DNA, slipping my mind) that triggers growth, but it's still only delayed and not entirely changed"
