Hey, /fit/.

I've been reading Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto, and have become really inspired. I'm only like 40 pages through it, though.

Anyways I want to have a really nice body to help my self image and self esteem, and I read a lot about fitness and stuff, but have never really gotten serious about it.

I'm 5'10, 160lbs with a really high bodyfat percentage. Skinnyfat is what they call it?

Anyways, I was wondering what route I should take? Pure fatloss and cardio and then try and bulk up? Or start bulking now and cut the fat after.

Basically, I want to look noticeably better by the time I get back to school. My school starts late so I have a full 90 days to change my body.

tl;dr - this is me, will bulking take too long to be sexy once summer's over?

If I were you, I'd just get lean rather than big if your aim is to look good in 90 days. You want to be doing plenty of HITT and long distance cardio as well as limiting all carbohydrate intake.

You're hardly fat, so you'll lose the 10 or so pounds you need to drop in just a few weeks (I'd say 7 or 8 if you stick at it).

After that, concentrate on bulking, but worry about that stage when you get there.

Me too. Still, I can fucking powerclean 230 and rising fast, with SQWATZ numbers around 375. So while I don't look as great, I can whoop ass, which serves to counter.

Both of those are pretty much out of neglect, not being emo.

I don't really care about my hair, so I don't cut it. I really don't do anything to it except wash it. Going to the barber every month wastes time and money. I just grow it out til it's unbearable and then cut it.

and my body came to be by staying inside a lot, not really caring about what I ate or how much exercise I got.

But now I really do care.

Yeah, I've been hearing a lot about HIIT from this board. I googled and found a plan that was like "jog for 30 secs, sprint for 30 seconds until 4 minutes, work your way up to 15 minutes" is that the way to go? I hear other plans saying do that for 10 minutes right away, but i don't think I have the stamina for that.

And are carbs a big deal? Haha, I can't really imaging not being able to eat rice, pasta, and bread as much as I do.

Hahaha I know I'm not like, completely awful but like whenever I bend over to pick something up, I know my chest fat is just hanging there. I can't stand the way I look when I sit down. When I sit down my legs look like a woman's because they're not muscular at all.

I'm just not comfortable in my skin, so I want to take up body building.

I dunno, I like the idea of doing HIIT now and losing the weight to impress my friends, and hopefully impress myself in the process.

Like I said, I'm doing this mostly for self-esteem. My horrible lack of it created some fights with my friends, and I don't want that anymore.

I know that bulking first and cutting afterwards is a lot more sensible, but is there anything else i'm not getting that would make me need to do so?

well look at it this way, you can cut now and lose your fat

but when u bulk you will gain some fat% back
so you will have to recut

and lemme tell you, cutting is not somthing your supposed to look forward to..

Just eat healthy and try lifting weights/doing exercises that target ur muscles, you'll lose weight and you might even start building some muscle/looking more toned in the process
