goddamn love handles Anonymous
good evening /fit/, I'd like your advice.

I'm not really fat or anything (~18% body fat, I guesstimate... no fat around the waist that bulges over the belt or anything like that), but I can't stand having love handles. I've been on a good diet, I lift weights 2-3 times a week, and I do tons of push ups and crunches every day (at least 200 push ups a day, in slow 50 rep sets while taking breaks at work). I feel good, I've lost ~12 lbs and I like the way I look (I lost a lot of stomach fat over the summer) except I can't lose these fucking love handles. What do I do?

The only problem I see is that I don't do regular cardio. I walk to lunch every day, which is a 3/4 mile each direction, take the stairs at work (5 flights), and that's pretty much it. Can I not lose the handles without jogging? I think I just need to suck it up, stop being a pussy, and start running a few miles a day each morning. Correct?

Eat less calories than you are burning. It doesn't really matter what you do to burn the calories. Weight lifting is fine because you can't target certain areas for fat loss. Your body decides where to take the fat from. Just keep it up until you no longer have love handles.

yeah, that's true. It's just annoying, you know. I've made a lot of progress since May (I'm 6ft tall, and I was 190 lbs, with little muscle. Now I'm 173, with decent definition), but still can't kill those love handles, which are painfully obvious if shirtless. I guess winter is the perfect time to work those off, so by next spring/summer I'll be in good shape. Still, it's hard to keep from getting demotivated. Thanks, /fit/
