dear /fit/,

i know i'm going to get some jack-ass response to this, but i hope someone actually gives me some relevant information. i'm a 5'2 female who weighs 105, and i would really, really like to gain weight. like, for real. no matter how much i try to alter my eating habits i just seem to maintain, if not lose. exercise wise i don't do much, just yoga every morning and night to stay relaxed.

really, i'm not bone thin or anything, i just want to healthily gain 5-10 pounds, and want to know how i should alter my diet. i usually take in about 1500 calories a day, but i've gone as high as 2000 trying to gain.

Food Pyramid follow it religiously

Light free weights as well as push/sit ups, weightless squatz ect.
I'm guessing you are afraid of looking too muscular and afraid of too fat. So I based the advice on that assumption.

Exercise more. Muscle tissue weighs more than fat.

This. Not only will you gain the weight you want, you'll look sexier from the extra muscle tone.

There's your problem, really. I assume you're quite young? 1,500-2,000 is probably what you need just to maintain your weight so it's not a surprise you're not gaining.

Bump it up to 2,500 if you can stomach it (I assume because you have a smaller frame that the food volume is relatively larger for you), and see if you start gaining, SLOWLY. You may also want to add resistance as well, just because weight gain of pure fat isn't really functional and muscle will make you look better and harder.

Women with developed calves are quite arousing in my opinion.

Everyone here is pretty much right. Eat more, and more often. 1500 calories a day is ridiculously low, so saying you 'went as high as 2000' is kind of funny.
