Just started working out Anonymous
Hey /fit/, recently I had my heart broken when my girlfriend left me for another guy. So to vent my anger and to keep me from smashing the guys face in, I finally started to workout.

I’m 6’4” and before I started working out, 250 pounds (with beer belly and minor mobs). My goal is to lose weight (get to around 200 pounds) and build muscle (six pack, six pack, six pack).

For the past week my routine has been 1 hour of strength training every other day and cardio every other day (basically working out everyday).

For strength training days I use a Pilates Home Gym (it's like one of those cable machines, but using resistance cords) and just do the two 30 min workout vids. To prep, I do 10 min of alternating jumping jacks (1 min jumping jacks, 1 min of walking in place).

For my cardio days I do a HIIT routine on a treadmill, I’m up to 5 min now (when I did my 1st HIIT I almost collapsed 2 min in).

Because I work all day, I generally do my workouts at between 6 to 9 pm.

For my diet, I basically have cut out all soft drinks, chips, beer and fried foods. I’ve also increase the amount of protein I eat. That and after I do my strength training I drink a glass of whey powder. To deal and help me sleep, I take a shot of Bacardi 151 right before bed. Otherwise I haven’t changed much in this area (although I am shooting for around 2000-2100 calories a day).

Since I started last week I have already lost 6 pounds.

You should lose around 8 pounds when first starting to work out / dieting easy. its after those 8 pounds things get harder.

the 8 pounds is the water lost due to you useing up your gluclose storage. The carbon chains and such stored in glucose and the more complex sugers are held together by water, so when you use the sugers you realse the water that was holding the complex mocecules together.

or something, basicly it gets harder after 8 lbs

I figured something to that effect, but how much harder?

You take a shot of alcohol before bed??
what manner of faggotry is this? this will seriously deter your fitness goals. if you must, limit ALL alcohol intake to one day a week.

Okay, the booze is going out the window.

Good man. Other than that I would recommend not completely relying on HIIT for your cardio. You might also want to bumb up your calories a tad. 2000 seems a bit low for your size and activity level, even taking into account the fact your goal is to lose fat.

Also, try not to build muscle and burn fat at the same time. Concentrate on one or the other. But really man, it sounds like you've got a solid plan going and I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks, as for what I’m trying to do is lose the weight quickly while slowly building up the muscles. I mean, I know they’re there; they’re just covered in fat. I don’t want to be like those freak up nature riod guys, I just what nice toned and defined muscles.
