So, uh...about an hour ago, I helped my neighbor get a bat out of her apartment. The thing scratched me and bit me a little bit, but there was no bleeding. I was just wondering: what are my chances of getting rabies? I washed thoroughly afterward and applied Neosporin and a bandaid (all I had). I can't go get a rabies test because I have no insurance. Also, since rabies count varies by region, I live in Northwest Indiana, near Chicago.

I hope you learned your lesson OP, nevar help the bitches. Unless it involves your penis.

Also, your second lesson is that you should move to Canada.

Rabies isn't too prevelant in your area, but bats are a prime rabies delivery animal.

The small bite you received is enough to transmit the disease.

So your odds of getting rabies are probably fairly low to mild, but remember - untreated rabies is fatal. Period. And it's painful.

Go to a free clinic or call a hospital and ask what the cost is. You're probably only looking at like $40-80 to save your life.

OP here. I wish.

But seriously, let me elaborate. There's no pain coming from the bite, no "shooting sensation" or anything. In fact, it barely broke the skin, but it was noticeable. I have no insurance, as I said, so I can't go get tested or anything.

You don't need insurance. They take moneys. Save your life.

That's like saying you barely had unprotected sex with AIDS. If it broke the skin it broke the skin. From my completely unprofessional opinion I'd say your odds of having rabies aren't horrible. But>>292499sounds like the smartest option.
