QUESTION(S)! Anonymous
/fit/, i have a problem.

so basically, here's my standard day.
- I wake up at 7:00AM.
- I shower, brush my teeth, take my pills, go to school. I usually don't eat breakfast because I get bloated and my school uniform causes me great discomfort and I get the farts.
- At lunch (around 12:15?) I usually go out to subway, and get a six-inch whole wheat sub with red onions, green peppers, ham, turkey, black olives, lettuce and southwest chipotle sauce.
- I go back to school, and do more classes (gay) until 3:06PM.
- Around 3:20PM, I get home, and usually have an early supper, often some frozen food or take-out. (my mom and brother are both skinny so they don't give a shit about what they eat.)
- and thennn I snack all night. until about midnight. (chips, sandwiches, soups, etc.)

So i'm not fat. i'm... like... i look skinny, but i'm just dense. like... less than chubby, but more than skinny. ANYWAYS, I want to get skinnier so i can start toning for the summer, so my questions are:

a) Does not eating in the morning affect my metabolism?

b) Does snacking all night make me a fat fuck?

>a) Does not eating in the morning affect my metabolism?
Yes.

>b) Does snacking all night make me a fat fuck?
Yes.

>c) Am I getting enough excersize walking 10 minutes to and from school everyday, and climbing about 20 staircases? (my school's massive.)
No.

e) Drugs: I take Concerta for my ADHD, should I start double-dosing?
No.

Honestly, I think you're a troll though.

Eat a breakfast to jump start metabolism for the day. Sluggishness in the morning means less calories burned, so eating a decent breakfast will help you lose weight. Find something that doesn't give you the shits.

As long as your snack is healthy, constantly eating small amounts is actually better for losing weight.

And no, that's nowhere near enough exercise. Exercise efficiency is based on how high your heart rate is, and wandering around with a backpack all day doesn't get your heart rate up. Do HIIT in the mornings for 20 minutes before you shower.

And finally, double dosing on drugs to lose weight is a retarded idea. Like, double-fuck-tarded.

a) eating in the morning gives your metabolism a kick start and helps you control your appetite throughout the day.
b) eating at night, during the time you are most inactive, can be detrimental to weight loss.
c) 5-6 small meals a day. If you want to cut, take your total calories burned in a day and subtract 500.
d) you can double dose if you want to be unhealthy. Caffine is only good for weight loss if you are active.
>> Anonymous
a) yes
b) yes, especially right before you go to sleep
c) no
d) you should cut out 500 calories from the amount you require at most, and exercise to lose more, otherwise you will be losing muscle
e) that will probably fuck up your liver, too much caffeine will just make you feel like shit

Haha it's not the shits, I just get a really upset stomach. And what exactly is HIIT? I've seen it a million times, but i've never really... y'know, understood.

>a) Does not eating in the morning affect my metabolism?
Yes.

>b) Does snacking all night make me a fat fuck?

>c) Am I getting enough excersize walking 10 minutes to and from school everyday, and climbing about 20 staircases? (my school's massive.)
No, and it's e-x-e-r-c-i-s-e.

>d) I'm mesomorphic, fairly smaller bones, but wide shoulders and small hips, so would excersizing regularly and cutting back on my eating (like a bite or two a day) help? I'd rather eat nothing in a day than anything at all, i'm just weird like that.
This one's a bit complicated. Regular exercise is on the right track, but just cutting back from what you're currently eating isn't enough — what you eat and when you eat it need some work (see b), and I'm sure someone here knows more about what you should change than I do.

>e) Drugs: I take Concerta for my ADHD, should I start double-dosing? I heard that's supposed to make you lose mad weight. Also, is drinking lots of caffeine good for your metabolism?
No, and no.

HIIT is the best way to simulate death. You find an aerobic exercise that fits you, and give it your all for a period of time, then a break period , then give it your all again, then break, etc etc... a common setup is 20 seconds of 100% effort, then 10 seconds rest before continueing.

Aerobics as in something like burpees or jumping?
I used to play soccer, I quit two years ago when I lost my dad, and I gained like 45 pounds. I remember doing something insane like going 100% for 20 seconds then resting and going back at it...

Honestly, you look fine to me. The sweater is blocking out the vital area, though.
a) Generally speaking, breakfast should be your biggest meal, with each successive meal getting smaller. Spreading out meals over too much time does tend to slow your metabolism down because it tricks your body into thinking that you're starving. Honestly though, in today's busy world it just isn't possible for most people to set aside two or three hours to eating solid meals anymore. Plenty of people lead healthy lives with fucked up eating schedules, don't let it bother you TOO much.
b) Late night snacking is fine, try to stick to healthy shit like veggies and fruit, though, or at least stop eating chips and sweets.
c) To keep a body healthy, at minimum of thirty minutes of uninterrupted exercise a day is recommended. I would highly suggest taking half an hour out of TV watching/4chan browsing/jacking off every day to go for a walk, maybe hit the weights if that's your thing.
d) This seems more like you trying to convince us that you're not fat than a real question.
e) FUCK NO, DRUGS ARE NEVER THE ANSWER. I can't comment on caffeine, I would hazard a guess that it doesn't do much for your metabolism, if anything.

The fact that OP's post seems to contain to evident common logic. B, C, and E are just downright retarded questions.

So would something like "big breakfast, snack, sub, snack, small supper, stop" be good? And what kind of snacks would you suggest? Like granola bars and yogurt? Because those have a ton of sugar in them and everyone's always like "SUGAR KILLS YOU ZOMG"

>>78119
You're kind of an ass. Sorry for my curiosity and lack of google-dependency. I thought the point of /fit/ is to ask questions and get help... not ask questions and get shit on.

>>78138

Yeah, something along the lines of that sounds about right.
As for snacking and sugar, you have to remember that apples are pretty much pure sugar and fiber, and nobody in their right mind would knock you for eating an apple whenever the fuck you feel like it. Lighter soups are fine, assorted veggies and fruits are always a good choice. I would classify a sandwich as a meal more than a snack, unless it's halved/quartered.
If that pic in the OP is really you, seems like you'd be better served toning than trying to lose weight. That's just my opinion, take it or leave it.

>So would something like "big breakfast, snack, sub, snack, small supper, stop" be good?
Yeah, but have something healthier than a sub.

>And what kind of snacks would you suggest?
Fruit and nuts.

Honestly, he could have much, much, MUCH worse for lunch. At least it isn't pizza or burgers or other terrible shit that most people shovel into their mouths on a daily basis.

Yeah the thing is, I have a huuuge belly. and massive thighs. and kinda-moobs. But I definitely will start toning once my stomach isn't huge.
What kind of toning e-x-e-r-c-i-s-e-s can I do at home, seeing as I have a lack of a gym membership and don't plan on getting one until... never. Do sit-ups and squats and free weights help? And if I started running, should I go in the mornings before eating, mornings after eating, or at the end of the days after supper?

>>78183
A six-inch turkey breast with lettuce, green peppers, red onions, black olives, and chipotle sauce on whole wheat really that horrible?
My friends are all girls, and they're all scrawny, and they eat more than me. :( One of the thinnest gets a 12-inch five days a week. Haha.

It all depends what's on the sub. What he's currently getting sounds good, but it seems to me the chipotle sauce might have some unwanted calories and sugar, if you can sacrifice the taste.

Haha yeah, i'm sure the chipotle sauce has it's ailments... but it's sooo good. And spicy... 'Sides, I don't think a condiment can jeopardize my weight. Well, at least I hope it couldn't.

all of those exercises are good, and it's more important just to run than to worry about when you're doing it.

Lunges, crunches, push-ups, squats, and swimming are all good for toning.

Personally, I run right after I finish work. I find that it helps me blow off some stress, and generally it always lifts my mood after I finish. I wouldn't suggest running in the morning before you have a chance to get something to eat, you need the fuel to function.
