So, going off of a suggestion I saw here I started adding tuna to my diet for protein.. But now, my dad is telling me i'm eating too much and mumbling something about mercury poisoning...

Do the mumblings of the old man have any truth to them? I don't wanna die of mercury yet...

It's a threat. If you're worried, buy more eggs and less tuna.

You'd have to eat crazy amounts of it.

I mean, I don't think it's possible if you're just eating it every other day.

Search the interbutts for mercury + fish. The amount of mercury in fish varies depending on the type (ie. larger fish typically have higher concentrations), and you can find listings of maximum amount of different types you can eat per week. Generally speaking you have to eat quite a bit, but check the information yourself to be sure.

One egg has more cholesterol than a pound of steak.

Eggs are possibly the worst thing you can eat.

How much protein should I be getting a day? How many eggs would I need to eat?

Eat the egg whites, not the yolk. Problem solved.

Studies are still conflicted on the role of dietary cholesterol WRT blood cholesterol. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a dozen eggs to devil.

Honestly, it's so easy for me to avoid eating fatty foods. Maybe a fast food burger every 2-3 weeks. And when you do eat healthy and you see results, that is what is called EPIC WIN.

If you can help it OP, select Light tuna made from skipjack. Lower mercury content than albacore.

Of course, you should still be cautious about eating a whole lot. I usually prefer the Starkist light tuna that comes in sealed tear-packages with crackers and other condiments.

you're dad's full of shit, everyone is retarded when it comes to "mercury poisoning"

I've been eating 1-3 cans a day for the past 2 years and I'm healthier than anyone else at my school. It's like worrying about salmonella on eggs. There're a few fish out there raised in fish farms that give the rest of the fish a bad rep.

Don't. Worry. About. Mercury. Poisoning.

enjoy your tuna.

you know how those little pink sugar packages say that might cause cancer? well, you'd have to eat truckloads of it.
