Hey /fit/,

I got into an argument with a friend who just started taking Hydroxycut. He says he can feel it working, but I argued that all it does is drain water weight (which I kind of made up) and that it doesn't do shit.

My entire argument was based on hearsay, but what does /fit/ think Hydroxycut? Am I wrong?

caffeine does have a diuretic effect. but it does a decent job. the hardcore is slightly better.

I take hardcore, not nearly as much as they recommend, but they are profiteering assholes who could give a fuck less about long term effects.

I take two before my workout on my lifting days, and 3 on the days I do 5-10 minutes of HIIT.

Is the science behind it sound? Fuck if I know, its a nice boost is all.

You won't burn any fat without real fucking effort.

it gives you a burst in energy and makes you sweat/piss like a motherfucker. so any weightloss benefits you get are from water (good call), suppressed appetite, and if you're working out, increased focus and drive to do so.

I took Xenadrine EFX for about 4 months, and along with a good diet and lots of exercies, I dropped 35 pounds in those 4 months or so.

I figured I'd gain it back when I stopped taking it, but it seems to have ramped up my metabolism to the point where, along with the proper nutrition and regular exercise, I've managed to maintain the weight (and actually struggled to put ON weight).

I honestly don't know what effect it had (if any), but I personally don't think I dropped that weight that quickly solely through diet/exercise alone. I stopped taking it because of some of the health risks that I was reading about concerning the heart, and it kinda scared me away from it, and is what will keep me from taking it again in the future.

tl;dr: it seems to work when combined with diet/exercise, but isn't worth it because you heart may explode.

OP here. Thanks for your input on this. I'm all the wiser and I'll pass this onto my friend.

caffeine increases lipolysis, but you still have to workout out in order for that to be effective for weight loss. it works, albeit poorly. Not to mention its overpriced. most people who claim it made them lose x lbs in y days simply lost water weight. hydroxycut sucks, especially considering that hydroxycitric acid doesnt work

read the fine print:

"In two 8-week studies, subjects using key ingredients (Garcinia cambogia extract, chromium polynicotinate and Gymnema sylvestre extract) in Hydroxycut® lost, on average, more weight than subjects using a placebo (14.99 vs. 3.06 lbs. and 12.54 vs. 3.53 lbs.). All groups dieted and exercised."

notice how they were given the KEY INGREDIENTS, and not actualy hydroxycut? That means they were given a significantly higher dose. The ingredients work, but hydroxycut itself does not

'fack' off
