How bad is alcohol for you?

8 shots? don't know that is, but alcohol keeps your liver busy with detox, while it could do other things.
Alcohol + training = stupid.
To add on that alcohol has lots of calories which are unnecessary.
So yes, you get fat.

Wow a bench person, I have never heard of such a sad thing. Rather than going out and living he sits on a bench and talks about how to live. HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHAT A SHOT IS, ARE YOU 11?

Higher proof alcohols, such as spirits or at least vodka, generally have much lower caloric contents than beers and colorful bitch-drinks.

Avoid drinking before, or about 12 hours after a workout.

And obviously, drink in moderation.

Alcohol has never been good for you. But it won't ruin your fitness if you moderate, stay away from high calorie drinks, and only drink during your down time.

a little bit of real wine has always been good for you

>Alcohol has never been good for you.
wut?

There's a fuck ton of evidence and studies that say otherwise.

Due to the relaxation effect it gives, its not a magic fucking potion. People that have a drink a day or two a day are more relaxed then those that have their panties in a twist working 12 hour days or are so poor that they cannot afford to buy alcohol.

Actually there is no studies or evidence that ethanol is good for you. There are numerous studies that have shown certain alcohol containing drinks, like red wine, are good for you in moderate quantities. However, it's various other chemicals, not the alcohol, that are good for you.

I'm an alcoholic and I can tell you it's just as dangerous as any other drug. It'll fuck your life over if you let it.

No, it's not a drug that's hard to get, ten bucks will get you a 1/5 of cheep vodka. The fucked up part is what you do when your wasted.

if youre male and over the age of 45, a glass of red wine each night is beneficial for heart health. and as anon said, its not the ethanol part thats good for you, although the sedative properties certainly feel great after a long day.

alcohol isnt and wont ever be good for you, but its not that bad if used in moderation. alcohol has 7 calories per gram, fat has 9 cal/g, compared to 4cal/g for protein and carbs. so it will cause you to gain unhealthy weight if you dont temper yourself.

personal research has brought me to the conclusion that people who are hardcore into perfect dietary minutia tend to be boring or abrasive or antisocial. certainly if your goal is fat loss, alcohol will not help, but if you like to have fun and let loose your inhibitions from time to time, its great.

tl,dr: alcohol isnt good for you, but its not necessarily bad unless youre a fucking idiot with regards to your consumption.

in conclusion: dont drink it at all, it doesn't help you, and it's not necesary. if your stressed then distract yourself.
