beer - how bad is it when you're trying to lose weight?

Let's say you run at least 45 minutes to an hour everyday and drink about 5 or 6 beers two days out of the week.. You still maintain a healthy diet. Is it bad y/n

Beer is always delicious.

Alcohol slows down fat oxidation. Your body will want to burn off the alcohol first. I'd cut back to one day a week if you really want to lose weight.

Beer and alcohol in general is horrible for your body. For losing weight, even worse. One beer is like 100 calories, and those calories are devoid of any vitamin or minerals. Also, you can't burn fat when you have alcohol in your system, as your liver drops everything it's doing to detoxify the alcohol.

Wrong, kid.

Sure, most alcohol is mainly just a source of excess calories, but they're not redundant towards overall health at all. Beer and wine are good for the heart and palette, vodka and gin are good for scoring former Top Model contestants (trust me).

Drink up, but not too much.
Kippis!

OK but given my original description of keeping an otherwise healthy diet, how bad of a deterrent is it?

Depends, if you're cutting fat or are an athlete - alcohol will only create crossroads.

If however, you're looking to gain in mass and strength, or fight everyone you see - booze it up.

Benign Prostate Enlargement. It happens to some guys when they get old and makes it hurt to pee. Apparently alcohol cuts down on your chances of developing this.

Does anyone have an opinion on how bad alcohol is for your brain?

Alcohol reduces your levels of testosterone, one of the primary anabolic hormones. So no, alcohol will stunt and strength/mass gains you're trying to make.

This is a generic beer's nutrion, so expect some variation around those numbers. Beer tends to have fewer calories than sodas, and more vitamins. It is flat out better for you than cola on a serving by serving basis, and the calories are not empty. Too much alcohol, however, is not good for numerous and obvious reasons. My recommendation for the OP is to drink 10 beers one day a week.
