HOLY FUCK THIS RANDOM WEBSITE SAID CHEWING GUM FOR AN HOUR BURNS 11 CALORIES, CHEWCHEWCHEW.

Seriously though, I fucking love gum, are there any bad side effects to chewing gum? I generally have those "teeth cleaning" gums, just because they're popular. Do they work, even slightly? Will I really burn calories? Will anything in excessive gum chewing harm me?

Picture related, it's what I'm currently chewing. Post your favorite gum if you want.

try about 5 you dumb shit. in fact it is recommended to chew sugar free gum to distract you from eating.

i've heard that the chewing motion can signal to your brain that it's going to get food, and then your brain's all like FUCK YEAH and then gets all ready and shit, but then when you don't eat any food your brain;s all like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT and gives you diabeetus

;_; I honestly doubt this is true, but for the rest of my life I'm going to hesitate putting gum in my mouth.

diabeetus is a small prince to pay for a good chewing gum. fuck yeah

oh its true (except for the diabeetus shit), your brain thinks its chewing food and releases stomach acid to digest it, but since there's no food it slowly burns your stomach lining and mucus causing ulcers. but you'd have to be a chronic gum chewer.

if you are going to eat gum very often, best thing to do is to chew for about 10 minutes and throw it out or keep it in your mouth but don't chew it.

I've heard chewing a lot of sugar-free gum is bad for various reasons. So do I both want to not chew too many sticks a day, AND not chew them for too long? I usually have no more then 2-4 a day. (Either that, or I have none that day) and I can chew them for hours.

chewing gum can wear down the cartliage in your jaw and will make your jaw pretty painful later in life.

did you just pull that shit out of your ass? That is nowhere near true. That calories you lose by chewing gum simply come from the mouth movements you make. Jesus christ.

Semi true.

However, the chemical messengers that the brain sends signals the stomach to release stomach acids in anticipation of food. Excess acid and no food = no good.
