How can I be eating 1500-1600 calories a day and running an hour each day and not be losing weight?

When was the last time you cut your hair?

Oh you

Oh, and before anyone says I'm eating 1500 calories of shit, I usually have oatmeal and 2 eggs for breakfast, a turkey sub on a whole wheat roll for lunch, a protein shake around 4, and some form of chicken for dinner, usually a salad.

1) you're eating more than you think (binge days, too much fat, etc)

2) you're not actually running that hard
>> Anonymous
eat less. run the same.
>> Anonymous
Do more free weights. Its not all about running. Swimming works well also.

k thnx fit ur a pretty cool guy :)

make your breakfasts bigger and your dinner smaller

also, SQUATZ

Yeah I may want to try that. My protein shake is my most calorie dense meal, and that's somewhat late in the day. As it is, it's something like the following graph for calories, kinda like a mountain without an end

eat more.
>> Anonymous
eat more
eat more often throughout the day, 5-6 times.
change running for an hour every day to warmup+hiit every other day
>> Anonymous
>>eating 1500-1600

What are you really eating?

Losing weight isn't instant.
You won't see weight loss until 2nd week.

>>416566
Why
>>416667
1) Why
2) I was under the impression eating 6 times a day didn't increase your metabolism, it just allowed you to be less hungry, therefore eating less and losing more weight. I can't eat 6 times a day with my schedule
3)I can't do HIIT, I'm not fit enough.

I lost 20 pounds so far, but I've suddenly stopped and haven't lost a pound in 2 months.

I would say that you should not be trying to lose weight...
try to get better condition, search for the best way to run... as in a way that feels really good but isnt slow either...

I did squats and my running improved allot... a little while ago I started doing situps aswell...took it up from 9max to 40max :P

the weightloss will come, or even better would be keeping the same weigh but gain muscle

What is your gender? If you are a man you are probably starving yourself fat.
>> Anonymous
>>417195
I still have moobs, so I still need to lose weight.
(Though the funny thing is that despite being able to see my ribs on the side my bodyfat is still over 20%/bitchtits. I love my genetics)
>> Anonymous
>>417204
tbh I have great genetics...I cant get fat...
so I have the reverse problem :S almost my whole life I've been too lightweight... like my weight back when I was 14 years old was 35kg... :o now I'm 21 and my weight is around 63... I'm trying to get it up to 80 or something...

>>417197
Well I am starting to think that my metabolism has adjusted to low calories and needs to get back up. How long would it take to put it back where I want it? Would I want to eat like 2k calories a day to get it back up? I know in Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, it says to eat more for a week.

I mean, I honestly eat 1500-1600 calories a day because that's all I can eat without stuffing myself beyond full. I eat that much without thinking about it.
>> Anonymous
Bump so someone can confirm the suspicion I'm "eating myself fat"/ how can I jumpstart my metabolism again?
>> Anonymous
you know whats weird, i was doing the same thing you were for 2 months-- eating 1200 cal, working out 500cal per day... lost 20 lbs, then i said FUCK IT, had 1~2 months of binge eating. wtf? lost 2 moar pounds. idgi

could be. my clothes dont feel any different and i was sure i'd gain at least 10 back. a couple people said i look like i lost weight (NOW they notice? fffff)

i feel like shit not working out, which is why im getting back into it
>> Anonymous
>>417379

Same w/ me bro, I gained like fucking 5 lbs of either fat or water weight in a day, I feel depressed and i'm starting to push myself harder then ever now.

>>417372
like what
Please don't suggest HIIT because I wouldn't be able to do it because /fit/ doesn't know what HIIT is (Protip: It's not for fatties)
It's way too cold to run outside, so I go on an elliptical at my house for 60 minutes at 60 watts (I guess? It's measured really oddly) and 6.5-7 MPH

You're not eating enough. Your body is going into starvation mode and is storing fat. Eat around 5 times a day and keep your portions small except for breakfast.

As for running, check your heart rate. A slower heart rate will eat up more fat as oppose to a faster heart rate which will use up energy.

Also, get a fat caliper. Checking your weight is pointless. You may lose 1lbs of fat while gaining 1lbs of muscle, hence you don't notice shit. The fat caliper is cheap and all you have to do is measure one spot (stomach area) and keep measuring that exact same spot everyday. That's the best way to measure progress.

Last, be patient. If you lose more than 1lbs of fat per week, you'll risk gaining it all back once you stop your routine. Remember, this has to be your lifestyle, not a diet.

And when I say that I'm asking if I should increase my intensity, lower my intensity and increase my MPH, or increase my MPH and intensity and lower my duration
Or something

Not>>417372

Dude Anyone can do HIIT, All you need to do is get your heart rate to at least 90% and then cool down. I'm a fatty and I can do it correctly. (I checked), Also its not too cold to go running outside I live in NY and i'm running still. Also 6-7 = shit pace, work up to 8-9 mph by adding .2 mph from 7 mph everytime you hit that ellipitical.

This is what I thought was happening

Now, how many calories should I be eating? I was under the impression 1500-1600 was normal for weight loss. Which may even be an under estimate.

OP here again, really wishing this board had an edit feature

I just did some calculations and my breakfast is usually:
420 Cal
14~g fat
32g carb
20g sugar
60g protein

My lunch is:
246 Cal
10g fat
26 carb
14g protein

My Protein Shake is:
420 Cal
14~g fat
32g carb
20g sugar
60g protein

My dinner is:
Usually changing, but usually consists of chicken, eggs, or shrimp. This is a rough estimate/average
290 Cal
9g fat
25g carb
35g protein

I also usually will have an orange with my lunch, some fruit with my breakfast, and some veges with my dinner. Didn't take any fruits into account for nutrition/calories. I usually have a protein or granola bar at some point during the day, so add 200 cals, 10g protein, and 15 carbs.

likely you're starving yourself, losing muscle, and your metabolism goes down

also you've likely entered starvation mode, and your metabolism will take a while to get bumped back up

i don't know how long because i've never starved myself--i just lift a fuckton of weights, play tennis, and run while eating regular
>> Anonymous
If you have been dieting for a while, sometimes it is good just to go nuts eating whatever you want for a few days, then get back to the program. Your body just gets in a rut sometimes.

How is running 6-7 a shit pace? Even if you are running 6 and a half minute miles, if he's not used to running that is a really high pace to even think about keeping up.
