Deadlifts. Squats are pretty fucking unnatural, as movements go. You won't often find yourself doing a heavy squatting motion outside a squat rack. Deadlifts not only build muscle, but some of their specific adaptation to the nervous system carries over into real-life picking-heavy-shit-up.

I work out at home w/o a squat rack so I only do deadlifts. But I do them more than any other exercise to make up for it.
