sup guys
I'm 18, about 5'9", and 135 pounds. I'm in relatively decent shape since I work on a farm in the summer. Thing is, I'm incredibly lopsided. When I'm tossing hay bales or whatever I almost always use my right arm because it's stronger, but it contributes to the fact that my left side is really weak. You can even see in the picture that my left pec is smaller than my right.

I've tried to work my left side more when I'm in the weight room at school, but I don't want to put unbalanced strain on my back and neck. What should I do?

lol i have the same problem except it's due to deformed rib cage. shit sucks.

well dude, you're already unbalanced in terms of musculature... some degree of that is to be expected, but to the visual extent you point out, yeah I'd be concerned.

You'll have to exercise those areas with care, and when you return to the farm force yourself to use the opposite muscles. It'll be weird of course.

Push ups. If you're as uneven as you say you'll falter on your left side and there's no real way to 'make up for it' with your right, so do push ups. Your right arm won't get much of a workout but your left will, so after doing full-body exercise with pushups and pullups you'll even out within a few weeks.

Do you recommend isolating the left side at all? (i.e. doing dumbell curls with only your left hand, dumbell bench with your left side, tricep extensions, etc.)

OP here, I've been trying pushups, but I'm not entirely sure how to do it so that I'm working my left side more. I'm not strong enough to do it one-handed or anything... should I plant my center of gravity more over my left side and try to only use my right side for balance? or should I keep my center of gravity in the middle, keep my right arm straight, and do sort of sideways pushups with only my left arm?

this was going to be my next question

Just do the pushups normally is what he is saying. If you're left arm falters your right arm can't really do shit to save it, so doing pushups will work your left arm just fine.

Masturbate with the other arm for a change.

basically, you can do any exercise that requires both arms, just use equal weight. your left arm will catch up with your right eventually.

Isolation of the muscle group is what caused the problem in the first place.

Well I have a small amount of this, only noticeable to myself but what I do is almost fatigue on regular pushups, stop, and do one handed pushups with knees on the floor until I'm unable.

And during regular pushups you CAN sort of focus more with your left, and that's what I do. It doesn't do much but I notice less strain on my right when I do think hard about making my left do the work.

You have scoliosis. Go see a chiropractor. Maybe you should have noticed one of the legs on your pants is higher than the other before sculpting your voluptuous pecs.

Do weights with both sides regularly and it'll even out.

lift with free weights. Use the same weight for both arms and use the weight that suits your weak arm. Do the same amount of reps for both arms. Your weak arm will catch up

basically, at the farm, lift with your left side from now on, it will feel wrong, and it will be less inefficient but you will get better at it, just stick to it. By the time your left side levels out, you'll be able to do it both sides without any disadvantages
