Which sport is more useful to know/train in, gymnastics or martial arts (mostly wrestling and boxing, whatever else applicable)?

If you want the basic capabilities of a gymanst, that is, have the ability to move your body through a variety of movements that encompass strength, flexibility, and agility, you can easily accomplish this through a variety of workouts that don't require you to actually be a gymnast.

Gymnastics and Martial Arts are really perfect complements of each other... You build excellent lean muscle and core strength through gymnastics, and then tone and perfect that muscle through MA. For boxing I would choose Martial Arts though, as you do get some of the benefits of Gymnastics while learning how to kinetic link and so on.

Go AKKI Kenpo from a respected school, or a well established Shotokan dojo. Most fights only end up with grappling because the winner doesn't know how to finish the fight with strikes.

most krav maga drills i've witnessed (in person and on video) try to mimic real life scenarios by puttnig people in full armor and then having ten people rush them and beat the shit out of them. It's one of those situations, like fake knife drills, that make you feel safer but doesn't actually teach you how to hurt others and get hurt yourself. I'm dumbing it down alot here so don't think i'm an idiot but the best way to train for fighting/self defense is knowing what it feels like to be on the recieving end and know what it's like to be on the offensive end.

I'd trust a boxer in self defense over some krav maga guy. The boxer knows his bodies limitations and has worked it to the full extreme in sparring. The krav maga guy knows all the "techniques" but has never able to apply his body the way a boxer has.

There are a couple of different schools of krav maga and some are mainly McDojos, which has given krav an overall bad reputation.
In my club 1/3rd of our sessions focuced on sparring and physique, and so far I haven't managed to escape swelling/bruising/bleeding.

Did everyone ignore Systema, Kajukenbo and S.P.E.A.R. just because I mentioned krav and thought I was a troll?
I've been to a few seminars for Systema and it seems to be very interesting.
