Hey /fit/, I have a bit of an unattractive mole on my chest. I kind of want to get rid of it, and have a little scar in place of it instead... because scars are badass. If I self-induce it, should it produce a clean scar? A friend of a friend told me that they knew someone who tried that and the mole came back. Any input would be great.

Pic somewhat related.

Hmm I don't know but I think such a superficial excision would not be sufficient to produce scarring.

Eh, if it doesn't even scar and heals up just fine that would be even better.

Be sure and do it with a rusty needle. The oxidized metal keeps moles from coming back by oxidizing the wound. Yes they can come back.

A needle would be a bitch, so I'm assuming a nail would be efficient. What should I do after for healing? I wouldn't want to have it come back after trying to stop blood from getting all over my bathroom.

And there will be blood. Lots.

i cut a mole off of my chest very close to my shoulder - i basically just cleaned a knife with antiseptic and went at it - just chopped under it and it came off cleanly enough. reminder: make sure your tools and the area you're working on are very clean, VERY important so you don't get an infection. if you don't want the scar to be circular, assuming you cut deep enough for one to form, i'd cut a small dash over it so you have more of a diagonal line. hope that helps

I was planning to plug it up with petroleum jelly/Neosporin as soon as I made the cut, even doubly so when I read the rusty nail suggestion. Will that work, is is there a possibility of it coming back if I do that?

You could always cauterize it right afterwards, to save some of the bleeding problem.
