Dearest /fit/fags,

Is sweating easily during exercise a good sign or bad?

I'm not an overly sweaty fella, but I do notice that while working out I seem to sweat more and faster than my training partners. Sign of awesome physical condition, or garbage physical condition? Or is it unrelated?

Thanks.

Agreed. Let's you know you're working hard.

After I came back from vacation (where I drank a lot and took a ton of drugs), I was sweating more than usual. Probably because my body was flushing toxins out of the system by all available means.

I don't use drugs or drink a ton of booze.

Found this:

Fitness Myth:
Excessive Sweating While Exercising Means You’re Not Fit
In fact, it's just the opposite. Sweating during exercise is a sign of an efficient cooler. An athlete who has adapted to keep the body core cool during exercise will shunt blood to the skin’s surface more quickly and release heat from the body. At the same time, the sweat glands increase their output and thus cool the body during sweat evaporation. While fit people produce more sweat than sedentary folks, they lose less sodium, because more of it is reabsorbed by the body. The result is a more efficient cooler.

just make sure you drink enough water during and after your workout

I sweat like a fucking PIG man, and i'm not even in that great shape. It kinda sucks, when I have sex with my gf she's basically swimming in my sweat. Is horrible.

I don't sweat at all, literally. Pretty sure I have some problem with my sweat glands. Can't remember a single time I've ever sweat more than a few tiny particles on my forehead or armpits. And yes I do push myself when working out, and drink a fuckton of water.

So, is it more related to genetics and physical makeup than level of fitness? Does it have anything to do with the kind of shape you're in?

Good, it means your body knows how to cool itself efficiently.

Good, this means me being soaked after a few sets of squats is excellent

This can't be right. I used to be active everyday for hours because of skateboarding. I used to sweat but not as much as my fatass brother who does nothing. When he sweats he fucking pours.

Your body sweats to help you cool down.

Sweat profusely means one of a few things.

1) Your body is getting hotter due to strain.
2) Your body is getting hotter due to your biology.
3) You sweat more due to your biology.

i've noticed I don't sweat until i hit about 80-85% of my MHR or 160-170 HR

Does sweating have to do with size (not fat level, I mean muscle or general build)?

more skin folds -> more skin -> more sweat glands -> more sweat, fatty
>> Dr. Philip E. Bishop
Fatties tend to heat up easier (fat stores, blubber...think whales.) They're body adapts to it by excessively using their coolant system....sweat.

i know i sweat like i just jumped in a salty pool when i workout cause its a genetic thing :P both my dad and older sweat alot too. My mom and younger brother not so much. We're all pretty skinny.

hahaha yeah me too. being on top sucks cause then your sweat drips on her, and on bottom when you finish you got a big ol' sweaty ass cheeks on the sheets. i think its due to physical condition and genetics. im not in good shape now, and i sweat easy, ive been in better condition and didnt sweat as much as i do now.

Your body's temperature should always be at about 37,5° C or something like that. If it gets higher (i.e. during workout), your body needs to cool down, the result: sweating. The faster and/or the more you sweat, the more knows your body how to cool down. So sweating is a good sign I guess.

so i sweat hardcore at the easiest things...and im not fat, but im sure my cardiovascular health is in the shithole right now...so according to you my body knows how to cool down...so why the fuck does my body heat up so fast..id rather not sweat and overheat than to sweat all the fucking time at any physical exertion
