sup /fit/.

I got head lice during a massive outbreak in like 5th grade, and I don't remember it itching much.

But recently, the back of my head near my scalp and above my ears has been itching like crazy, and I've even gotten a few red bumps along my hairline, and my skin is generally pretty clear. I thought the itching might have been something with my bedding, so I've been washing it once a week, but my head still itches. I haven't seen anything crawling around my head, but I'm still scared it's lice.

The problem is, I'm at college and I'd be embarrassed to treat myself for lice in front of my roommate. How long can you live with lice until your hair falls out?

or what else could the mysterious itching be?

Why do you have to do it in front of your roommate, don't you have a restroom with some privacy?

Grossly enough, I had lice for years before I finally got rid of it (call it a combination of being messy and having two sisters who also had it) and your hair won't fall out from it, so no worries there. Unless maybe you scratch you head a lot and scratch the hair out.

The main thing in lice shampoo that kills them is Tea-tree oil. So my advice (and how I got rid of them) was to buy straight tea-tree oil/T-gel shampoo which contains it and mix it into my regular shampoo. Its a lot cheaper than the shampoo and it might be more descrete if you are really worried about your roomate. You might give them to him/her anyways if you don't get rid of them.

if you live near the coast. Swimming in the sea.. gets rid of the red itchy scalp really quickly.

I went to the doctor about it for myself they wanted me to pay 20$ a 15mL bottle of some shit.

But the salt water really helps for some reason.

the Red itchy scalp is from the lice and because you scratch it.
