Hola, /fit/

I've been taking Taekwondo classes recently, and as a result I am now all bruised and sore to holy hell. Any recommendations for soreness relief?

I'm looking at Tiger Balm/Bengay, and a lot of people tell me to take a hot bath. But then some other people are like LOL HOT BATH WILL MAKE YOUR MUSCLES EXPAND DUE TO HEAT AND IT'LL BE WORSE.

RUB BENGAY ON A CARROT AND RAM IT IN YOUR ASS

Light cardio.

Other then that, enjoy your soreness, it's the weakness leaving your body.

Do not listen to tweedle dum and tweedle dee. Although hot water will expand your muscles, it'll make them feel better. I advise hot shower, then work out all the kinks by rotating/stretching in the shower. Then switch to cold water (unpleasant but do it).

Afterwards, stretch before going to bed, balms/gays/etc can be helpful too. The stretching involved in TKD will mean being sore until you die since it always keeps going. Soon as you can put your head on the floor, they want you to put your stomach on the floor.

Here's a recommendation, grow a fucking pair, quit your faggy TKD class, and do Muay Thai instead.

Also, hot water is for sore bones, ice cold water is for sore and bruised muscles.

I did TKD for 3 years and all I got from it was a shit loadof flexibility (I couldn't find much use for it, if you're homosexual I'm sure your boyfriend will love it) I've been doing Muay Thai for 8 months and now I'm a monster, I'm faster, and stronger than ever. not as flexible anymore though.

Oh, and I lost 40 lbs, due to the rigorous workouts.

Quit your faggy Muay Thai and join a BJJ/MMA dojo and get HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

Also TKD is scary when them asians jump and kick someone in the face. Although most of it is tricking

Personally I recommend manning-the-fuck-up, pain-is-weakness-leaving-the-body, etc.

I see no problem with warm water, although the most useful thing (IMHO) is to stretch out any and all stiff/sore/tired etc. muscles.

As for bruises (I assume from being hit) once the nerves deaden and the scar tissue develops you'll be fine. If these bruises are on your head/body not arms/legs, then learn to block better then wait for the scar tissue.

Actually, I'm waiting for Wanderlei Silva's gym to open up in about 2-3months, so I can leave my MT class, and join his gym.

Also, TKD kicks are the HOMO. Their only good kick is the wheel kick, but it's VERY inaccurate, but if it lands, it can takes someones fucking head off, the rest is just flashy shit that's supposed to look pretty.

>shit loadof flexibility (I couldn't find much use for it...

For what it's worth I know a TKD practictioner who, while on the receiving end of the classic cross-arbmar/juji-gatame was able to kick the other guy in the fucking head.

Not that I would recommend anyone do that, specifically, but sometimes it's good to be able to do crazy shit.....

first of all, be sure you are hydrated. second, do a few light sets with the sore muscles. Preferably plyometrics like pushups, pullups, pistols/squats, etc. You are not trying to get a workout here, just get some blood flowing and work the lactic acid out. Follow this by alternating between a hot and cold shower/bath. As soon as you get comfortable with the temperature, switch it to the other extreme, repeat.
