I am rather Malthusian about it as well, and i can't say i find my work inherently meaningful, as i doubt my role will provide any lasting difference. In my state, as i lack an RD, i am unable to give nutritional advice beyond MyPyramid, which is entirely dysfunctional, as is our perception of CVD.
I imagine EMTs and ER work to be more...fulfilling...
