RON PAUL /fit/I joined a gym about 4 weeks ago, go about 3-4 days a week, and lately I haven't been able to run as much as I would want to because my calf starts hurting. Today I only made it 15 minutes before I had to just move on to weights. I have the energy to keep going, but my legs just hurt too much. It's really frustrating.Advice?
Stop running? =D
I don't have any advice about your leg pains. But why are you doing your cardio BEFORE you do weights? ur doin it wrong
weights firstalso, calf raises on rest days, and take a day or two off.
Legs every other day, not every day. Make sure you're getting enough sleep and I can't stress this enough; Drink moar water. Water, water, water. If it consists use an ice-pack or go see a doc., but I don't think it's necessary.
do some cycling for cardio, do running every 3rd day.
Don't forget to stretch first.
RUN FAT BOY!
i actually used to get some knee/leg pain when i was running hard every day. (running 6 days a week like 3-4 miles a day) i usually just ran through the pain, it would only bother me while i was running and maybe 10-15 minutes after.. i did go from a 13 minute mile to 6 minute 45 second mile in 3 months though.. and dropped 60 lbs..
not OP but concerned about my gym practices none the less. Why weights first and then running. I thought that you had to get the blood flowing and muscles active before doing weights. What are the negatives of doing it 1)running 2)weights rather than what you are suggesting. Or is it simply weights then running is more effective?
