Why are situps and crunches good for you? It just seems like you're squeezing fat/muscle together. Also, what's the difference?

But why? Is it just putting stress on your ab muscles so they become stronger? I don't really understand the science behind it.

yes when you load the muscles heavily they grow. doing body weight cruches isn't enough of a load so it's mostly a fat burning exercise and not a very good one at that.

This is trolling at its most retarded.

Not a troll you whore

Because you use your fucking abs to lift the top half of your body.

Same as any other muscle building exercise - use and break down the tissue so it comes back stronger.

I don't like crunches personally, they seem to strain my neck in a weird way. But full situps have the potential to wear down the skin over your coccyx and leave a serious burn.

What's the difference between a sit-up and crunch though?

Full situps can also hyperextend your lower back if you're not careful. This can happen if your abs are too fatigued to perform the movement and you try use momentum to do them. I stick to crunches.

Like, the difference in motion? Or effect on muscles?
