Insulin Resistance? Anonymous
Hello /fit/

I recently found out I have some weird condition called insulin resistance where I produce oddly-shaped insulin that doesn't break down sugar. I just wondered if anyone else has this and what their average diet consists of. I know that grain products are bad now but I was wondering if whole wheat things can still be consumed? Anyone know? Thanks.

Insulin resistance is basically "pre-diabetes", but regular exercise and weight-loss can really help. It's also one of the cases where a low carb diet may actually be of benefit because your body isn't using sugars like it should. Thus, you end up with high blood sugar and high insulin levels.

For dietary tips it's prob. best to look for diets designed for those who have diabetes.

OP here

Thanks so much for the information. Google was failing me a little and just showing me information on diabetes. I'll look up a fitness plan and see if my doctor can hook me up with a nutrition. Thanks tons.

You can find loads of recipe books with ideas and tips for insulin resistance.
I have it too, due to pcos.
Apparently, about tsp cinnamon a day helps a lot, I'm trying that at moment.

OP here again

A tsp of cinnamon? I'll have to try that out. Right now I'm cutting out white bread/pasta and things like that. I'm starting to feel a lot less tired all the time, which is really good.

Thanks a lot.
