sup /fit/
I've been working out at the gym a lot in the last few months, and I just recently began to notice that I've got reduced flexibility in my arms and shoulders. For instance, I can't reach across me to grab the seatbelt when I get in my car, at least not without turning my body slightly. The inside muscles of my shoulders and the tops of my pecs just... hit each other. Am I doing my lifting improperly, or is this just to be expected?

pic sorta related.

This is the first time I've ever heard someone say thanks to Moot.

But I agree completely, thanks for making this board Moot. Keep up the good work.

I don't think your muscles have grown enough to be the direct cause of this. You probably should do more stretches, and assuming you're still exercising regularly, your routine is probably continuing to impact your flexibility as a matter of the muscles being worked. I'm sure if you got lazy for over a week, you'd have about the same muscles and be grabbin' your seatbelt all day long.

let's make it a trend. thanks Moot.

As already mentioned, it is most likely a combination of muscle soreness and trained immobility. Ask a gym instructor for some stretches to do after lifting weights. Spend 5-10 minutes after lifting and aim for long controlled holds in just very slightly strained positions.
