High Intensity Training H.I.T.Man
How many of you know about H.I.T. (High Intensity Training)? I believe that it is the best workout philosophy ever and everyone who wants to add muscle should practice it.

care to say what it is?

Is this the same thing as High load, low reps?
>> Anonymous
I thought it was mainly used as "weight loss" technique that maximizes fat loss.

Is this the alternating thing? Where if your riding a bike you ride it really really really fast for a couple minutes then you slow down for a bit, then you pick it up again?
>> H.I.T.Man
An example routine would be 12 exercises using all of the muscle groups (separately) from smallest to largest. One set each only 8-12 reps to muscular failure each time. Maximum of 60 sec in between exercises.

Now you guys get it?

HIIT is "High Intensity Interval Training."

As far as I know it is more a cardio thing: sprint for 1 minute, rest for 2, sprint 1, rest 2, etc in that fashion.

fucking google.

You jog and then sprint for short intervals, which gets you at a target heartrate where your body 'think's you are sprinting the entire time. best cardio method you can do.

HIIT really works, it is pretty much the busy man's alternative to the traditional 40-60 minutes minimum of uninterrupted daily exercise. 100 burpees in ten minutes equals an hour of jogging. The problem is that 100 burpees in ten minutes is hellish, I tried it and got to around 40 before I collapsed hacking and wheezing.

HIT is, in fact, quite dumb. Works fine if you're chemically coached, but a natural athlete needs frequent, non-exhaustive stimulus for the whole body. Going to failure twice a week is pretty pointless. It can work for 3-4 weeks at a time, as a "shock treatment", but it's well known that after that you need to change back to a proper routine. If not for the fact that your CNS needs a rest, then just because that's when HIT stops working.

...But this is an age-old battle that is still being fought.
