Hi guys,

I practice kendo (japanese swordfighting), and i was wondering what kind of training is best to gain some muscles, but retain my speed.

Saging for powerlevels. Practice the fucking techniques.

Olympic lifts are great for your speed.

Kendo sounds pretty gay tbh, i see no need for robes & masks. Here on the streets of Scotland all you need is a rusty blade & tracksuit.

Gumdo =< kendo
Just learn Tai chi chuan or something; makes you much more flexible.

Kendo = useless. Unless you plan on carrying a sword/stick around all the time for defense. Learn a useful martial art.

WHO NEEDS COURAGE WHEN YOU HAVE A GUN?

Running is good for the speed, and for the breath capacity... and trainig with your sword...training the techniques, or what you want, just hold your sword in your hands.
Muscles? Do press-ups, there is a lot of types...
I'm intrested in europian medieval martial arts, and i do the same all the time.

All martial arts are useless. Those who live by the fist, shall be shot by those who don't.

That goes both ways, though.

>>Those who live by the gun, get curb-stomped when they can't carry one.

when you're a one-trick wonder you fail pretty hard.

proper self-dfense increases the chance of survival of anyone. gun encounters are pretty rare. if all else failed, there is close range desarmement techniques, and then you got snake running. if you're the phobic type, carry around a bullet proof vest and a gun. guns are pretty stupid anyway, they are made for cops or hunting, not for killing other humans.

>>203914
or you could just not fight when a gun is pulled on you

acting like some bad ass and getting shot isnt that great

>>they are made for cops or hunting, not for killing other humans.

congratulations! You just made the stupidest post on the entire board!!!

no, if his gun is in safe range, you can desarm him, if you know how. you should check that e-book thread with bruce lee.
if not, try talking with the assailant.

>>203935
indeed you do

HAHAHAHAHA! Oh wow.
>> Anonymous
>>203941
it's true. guns aren't sold to civilians so they can commit murders. they're always for self-defense, law enforcement and other entertainement purposes.

If he's armed with a 9mm, then you might stand a chance of disarming him, however if he's packing a .45 then you might want to refrain from disarming him.

>guns are pretty stupid anyway, they are made for cops or hunting, not for killing other humans.

Hahaha oh wow, your ignorance amuses me.
>> Anonymous
>>203939
if they are dumb enough to get the gun that close to you, its possible

but in most cases, not fighting is the best course of action. unless you like to live dangerously etc. many martial artists have been shot in muggings when they try to fight/disarm. just because you KNOW how doesnt mean that it will actually work in that situation.

We call that "drunken flailing".

yea as if the caliber matters when you are trying to yank the gun out of his hand at close range.

If the armed person is far enough, he won't able to hit a moving target that changes direction often. It's a very risky situation when someone got a gun on you, but if you are permanantly vigilant, you have low risks you can avoid or atleast have an advantage. It's always worse to get surprised.

Stop right there. The statement I was laughing at used the phrase "made for", not "sold for". Most handguns and their ammunition were made with incapacitating and lethal effects on a human in mind.

The best self defense is killing the guy trying to harm you.

If we're talking about non-usa here, martial arts are pretty awesome. Because 18year old dipshits can't get guns here.

Nor can they here. You have to be 21 to own a handgun.

>All martial arts are useless. Those who live by the fist, shall be shot by those who don't.
Idiot.

If you want to be a total badass, you should be skilled in guns, melee weapons, and martial arts. You will run out of bullets in a prolonged fight or your gun jams, then switch to a blunt or sharp weapon and start swinging, then once your melee weapon breaks or is stuck in someone, break out the martial arts, no one can disarm your hands (unless they chop or break it) and best of all, your fists have infinite ammo.

Or you coul just bust out a pot of green tea and ginger biscuits and pursue more diplomatic means to resolve the conflict.

>>204070

While you're at it, go buy some Gucci sports jackets and listen to Avril Lavigne as you get forcefully and joyfully dicked in all orifices by your assailants.

Or you could just skip the gun. Yeaahhh. And martial arts is for pansies, do you know how many ninja necks I've snapped in the last six months? Way too goddamn many.

Odds are you're never going to be in a real fight. The main reason to study a martial art is the confidence it gives you. Yeah, if it came down to it you could grap a broomstick and smack someone on the shoulders or stomach really really hard. You can protect itself, just hope you never actually have to.
