Okay /fit/, started HIIT today, but slightly weird results.

I was able to get to 15 minutes on the first day. What the fuck? Don't get me wrong, I was ready to hurl by the end of it, and it took some serious pushing to get to it, but I assume I must've done something wrong.

If it helps at all, my "sprint" speed was a 10.0, because that's the max the treadmill gets to. Is this a decent speed for the sprint? Because if it isn't, then I may have to start doing it outside. The only thing that makes me think I may be doing okay is that until today I ran 5 miles daily at 7 mins per mile (I was on here yesterday briefly), but it's still bothering me. Halp?

10 what?
km/hr?
mph?

anyways, do it outside. problem solved

The 10.0 is 10 miles per hour, amerifag here. Does that change anything? Yeah, 10km per hour would be pretty slow.

10 mph isnt a very fast sprint, it will be tough to get a workout once you adapt a bit at that low speed. go outside, find a hill IMO

Sounds a good idea. Unfortunately, I'm also from Florida, so there aren't any hills outside and it's humid as fuck, so that's why I started running the treadmill to begin with. I'll give it a shot, or at least try to find a gym with a treadmill that gets a little faster. What speed do you recommend for a 6'0" to sprint at? Finally, should I switch to 1 minute intervals, or is 30 seconds considered the most efficient?

sprinting is not about holding constant at a single speed, it's about accelerating, holding a constant level of EFFORT and decelerating, all of which are awkward on a treadmill. if you have to do a treadmill, just increase the speed a bit each couple of workouts so you're challenging your body as it adapts.

if you're outside, sprinting at a perceived 85% of the fastest you can sprint will have the same effect, since it will actually be faster as you adapt over time.

HIIT on a treadmill defeats the purpose of HIIT.
Try it outside to get accurate results.

10mph is slow as hell
i do my HIIT at approx. 16mph
that's a 50% increase, and I'm about 15-20lbs overweight

OH BY THE WAY

IT'S NOT REALLY HITT IF YOU'RE ON A TREADMILL, FAGGOAT

Stop doing it on a treadmill

There are fucking streets everywhere, and they don't have a speed limit on them. Your body limits your speed.

Guess what? The point of this shit is to push your body to its limit. And a speed limit of whatever the fuck 10.0 is is not all that your body can handle fatty.
