Dear /fit/,

I'm having a problem right now. You see, I'm so motivated to lose weight that it's hurting my health. I know what you're thinking... 'oh boo hoo fattie, like everyone should be cursed with that problem' But hold on!

I have been doing an hour of cardio every day, but I'm so overweight that it's literally wearing out my joints. I see a physiotherapist every week because of it, and there's nothing I can really do but diet more and exercise less.

Today, I feel myself desperately wanting to go to the gym. Jonesing to work out. Should I say fuck it and go anyway, or should I stay home and rest my joints?

Pic is me, in my wildest dreams.

I HAS IDEA

Change up your carido. Do 20 mins or less even first thing when you get up, before breakfast.

Less effort + better fatloss = win!

Should you have a higher calorie intake on cardio and workout days or should calorie intake be the same for everyday?

Better weight loss =/= Better fat loss

Cardio before breakfast will just catabolize muscle.

From the sound of it, you really don't need to be micromanaging like that.

Just eat six healthy meals a day, protein+complex carbs for the first three meals, protein+fat for the last three.

Not *just* muscle, some muscle yeah, but mainly fat. Besides, it would be catabolising less muscle than the hour of cardio a day he's doing now.

Just keep your protein up, and don't forget to lift, OP.

Swim? or is that too obvious?

Let's say you need to eat 1800 calories a day to lose weight:
- on the days you run for say 30 minutes (like 300 calories burned), you could eat as much as 2100 calories, for 2100 - 300 = 1800
- on the days you weight-lift for say 60 minutes (like 240 calories burned), you can eat as much as 2040 calories, for 2040 - 240 = 1800
- on the days you rest, you must eat no more than 1800 calories

Dear /fit/,

OP here. Follow-up. I couldn't resist.

I just worked out for four hours. 1 hour of cardio, 1 hour of stretching and my physio rehab exercises, and 2 hours of upper body training.

be back in a week or so when i can move again

A lifetime of being treated like shit by people. And noticing that with every pound lost, people get slightly nicer.

In fact, when I walked into my apartment building today, a middle-aged woman was talking to me and smiling at me. Flirting, I guess. This would have never happened when I was obese.

So how will you feel when you tear a tendon, are bed-ridden for a few weeks, and gain the fat back?

There is absolutely zero reason for you to be working out for two fucking hours, doing upper-body exercises. You aren't Arnold, you're need to slow the shit down before you fuck yourself up.

I GOT IT OP!!

SWIM!

oh wait, someone already said that.

But maybe I could be the next Arnold.

You read his post's here on 4chan first, folks.

I'll tell you though, after four hours, I had one hell of a pump. It's a fantastic feeling, you know. It's like having sex. Like having sex with a woman and cumming.

Arnold started out doing heavy compound exercises like Squats, not upper-body isolation movements.

He also used steroids, had insane genetics, and had more drive than most normal humans.

But good luck, friend.

He was a competitive powerlifter before MR o, he pulled over 700lb and I'm pretty sure his squat was 500+ sure it's not bolton, but the guy was a fckin bodybuilder.

Arnold started out Powerlifting, not Bodybuilding. His early trainers were so impressed by him because he was Squatting massive amount of weight for his young age. He praises the use of Powerlifting for beginners in the Bible of Bodybuilding.

Curling doesn't make your entire body grow, Compounds do.

Fuck dogma, I'll do whatever works, and I'll experiment with whatever feels right until I find out. I used to be a T-Cultist too, like all you fat SQUATZ preachers. SAVE THE PREACHING FOR THE EZ CURL BAR

Ohohohoho, I'm so clever!

OP what you're doing is endurance training. You're not going to lose weight quickly by going this route.

If your xbaux hueg, then what you need is a good mix of cardio and weight training, but not too much.

What everyone is saying here is that too much cardio and too much weight training will just end up catabolizing your muscles. Catabolizing happens when your body runs out of its stores of energy and begins to draw on muscle tissue, eating it up literally to provide you with energy.

Catabolization occurs roughly after the 45 minute mark of any strenuous activity, be it cardio or weight-training.

DON"T GO OVER 45 MINUTES!

You're defeating yourself. Whats going on is that even though your endurance is going up, you're eating away any muscle that could have been gained. Your metabolism goes down, and you end up at a weight-plateau. 0 progress.

You need to grow muscle to lose that weight. You're doinitrite, just too much at one time. Tone it down, let your body rest and recover (growth hormones are released when we sleep). I bought Ahnold's bodybuilding for men, and even he emphasises not to make the training sessions more than 45 minutes.

Ill money back guarantee you that the Frat boy in the picture doesn't cardio every day.
Fat Loss > Weight Loss.
The more muscle you have, the more calories per hour you will burn with proper training. Then you have mass to help fill out all the excess flesh that you're going to have. Don't be upset though, it's happens a lot.

Put that motivation into your diet. It may not be as rewarding, but it is a lot more effective. %75 of weight loss or gain is all diet, so that extra joint-killing cardio you want to do would be rendered useless with a single big mac.

It is all in the diet.
