Here's the deal /fit/

June 2008 - Weighed in about 160...started to get some comments from friends about how big I was getting...good friends help out. Decided to start working out. Dusted off the free weights and started lifting randomly...I had no plan or anything; I just started lifting.

July 2008 - I was eating unhealthy still. I started a weird diet. I went for 5 days of not eating breakfast or lunch and then eating a big dinner...I would do this every once in a while and I started to lose weight this way. By the end of July, I was about 150 and eating healthy again (and more consistently). I cut out soda, cookies, juices, Gatorade, and most junk. By the middle of July, I started my own program that I kind of made up based on the 100 push-up plan.

August 2008 - The program I was on got up to around 40-50 reps per set (5 sets I think) with light weights. I was probably doing 7-8 different exercises in one workout...My workout started taking me about 2 hours. By that time, I decided to change my workout. I also decided to add in some cardio. By the middle of August I was on a higher weight, lower rep plan with 2-3 miles of running and a finish of AB RIPPER X. I did this routine until last Friday.

Last Friday is when I started my 2nd job. I was already working part-time on weekends for a DJ. Last Friday, I started work at a sports retail store.

This is what my week consisted of...

And now here we are...

I haven't really had time to work out. I'm a little disappointed and I want to. Right now, I probably could but my body just tells me to rest. I think I need to get used to this schedule first. I was going to my sister's gym this weekend to try it out. I've never worked out at a gym before. Should I wait until my schedule is a little easier on me?

I feel like I may be a little stressed...I've never really been stressed before and I try not to show that I am having problems or anything.

If you /fit/ thinks I should go to the gym, how should I go about trying it out? I get a 7 day free membership and if I do want to go, there is a 200 dollar start up fee and my sister said I can get added onto her plan for 15-20 dollars a month.

Sorry for the TL;DR. I had to make two posts. Wow. I'll be surprised if anyone wants to read this.

I know it was bad...but I wasn't eating healthy either. I started lurking /fit/ after I started that little program(sadly, I was once a /b/tard...I haven't lurked /b/ in WEEKS though). That program got me back into good shape. /fit/ enlightened me a little and that's why I changed the routine

You're waking up at 8 and 9. Cut it down to 6-7.

It sounds hard if you have trouble getting out of bed, but it will allow you to keep your workout routine.

THANKS BRAH EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Yea, I've thought about that...I used to do my workout at night and finish about 2 hours before I went to bed. I've thought about switching it to the morning. I've spent most my life spoiled with sleep though...My junior year of high school I was going to bed around 8 during wrestling season and getting about 10 hours of sleep.

Same problem for me back in the day. I would go to bed on weeknights about 2 and wake up either for whatever essential responsibility came in the morning or at noon. I still do it on weekends after a night of hard drinking, but I've managed to get it down to 6 AM otherwise. It makes a difference on your overall performance, as you have enough time to prepare yourself for the day as well, with breakfast and everything.

So I'll probably end up trying out this gym this weekend then...what should I do while I'm there? I was thinking of starting strength 5x5...Do all gyms offer personal trainers? I also won't have a spotter cause my sister won't/can't really do much for me...

well if it's a decent gym they have at least 1 power cage, and without a spot you either get one or film yourself to make sure you got the form down

I may need a spotter for bench though...unless you can use the cage for that but I assume it's just for squats.

People would be more annoyed of you benching in the squat rack versus asking them to spot you.
