I've seen hundreds of faggots spouting on about milk lately. How it's:

- not natural - "no animals drink milk in adulthood"
- you can't digest it - "most people are lactose intolerant"
- unhealthy - "has too much milk and calcium"

... amongst other things. That's all shit.

Regarding the first point - nice way to judge whether you should do something, idiot. "Oh no, I wont verbally communicate high levels of information to my peers, because no other animal does it". No other animal cultivates crops.. shall we stop doing that too?

The second point - lactose intolerance. Unlucky, China and Africa. It's true, 75% of adults can digest the lactose in milk (they can still digest milk solids, and some can drink milk and just piss out the lactose.. others, it makes their shit runny). But most people on this site are probably white Americans, or white Europeans. Getting on for 100% of white Europeans and Americans can digest lactose. It's called evolution - after we moved from Africa we needed a different source of energy from what we'd been used to, and we found it in cows.

The 3rd point is equally as ridiculous - too much calcium? The same silly cunt that said this probably takes vitamin pills everyday, which often contain 2000x (yes, two thousand) times your RDA of various things. And too much fat? How much milk are you planning on drinking? Yes, there is fat in milk, but you need fat. Obviously if you drink 20 pints a day it wont be good for you, but anything in excess is bad. 1 pint a day is not "too much fat". 3 pints a day probably isn't, if you actually do physical activities - I use well over 4000 calories a day because I'm not a fat shit American sitting around. I NEED calories, as does everyone who isn't 20 stone.

In conclusion, milk is awesome, and healthy.

You don't NEED magnesium to absorb calcium, it helps but isn't needed.

Magnesium is found in many food sources.

Magnesium is found in fairly large quantities in... milk.

If you can digest it, drink up. If you can't, don't drink it.

questionable. The calcium is certainly a benefit, as is the protein if you're a bodybuilder. We don't know enough about the chemicals and hormones put into the cows to conclude if it's safe or not but there are options for no-growth-hormone milk.

As always, you should have some, but not a lot. I only have 8oz. with breakfast and 8 oz. with my protein shakes.

Today, milk is made even more indigestible by the universal practice of pasteurization, which destroys its natural enzymes and alters its delicate proteins.

Raw milk contains the active enzymes lactase and lipase, which permit raw milk to digest itself. Pasteurized milk, which is devitalized of lactase and other active enzymes, simply can not be properly digested by adult stomachs, and even infants have trouble with it, as evidenced by colic, rashes, respiratory ailments, gas and other common ailments of bottle-fed babies. The lack of enzymes and alteration of vital proteins also renders the calcium and other mineral elements in milk largely unassailable.

During the 1930's, Dr. Francis M. Pottenger conducted a 10-year study on the relative effects of pasteurized and raw milk diets on 900 cats. One group received nothing but raw whole milk, while the other was fed nothing but pasteurized whole milk from the same source.

The raw milk group thrived, remaining healthy, active and alert throughout their lives, but the group fed on pasteurized milk soon became listless, confused and highly vulnerable to a host of chronic degenerative ailments normally associated with humans, including heart disease, kidney failure, thyroid dysfunction, respiratory ailments, loss of teeth, brittle bones, liver inflammation, etc.

But what caught Dr. Pottenger's attention most was what happened to the second and third generations.

The first offspring of the pasteurized milk group were all born with poor teeth and small, weak bones- a clear cut sign of calcium deficiency, which indicated lack of calcium absorption from pasteurized milk.

The offspring of the raw milk group remained as healthy as their parents.

No proof to suggest milk alone leads to heart disease.

Sure, drinking shit tons of milk, sitting on your fat ass eating cheetos for 20 years is going to cause problems... BUT THAT DOESN'T FUCKING APPLY TO MOST PEOPLE HERE.

If you lead an active liftestyle, and maintain a diet free of shitty refined carbs... no amount of milk will cause problems.

Milk is not some horrific poison. We've evolved to drink it and peoples like Eskimos and tribes in Africa have little to no instances of heart disease amongst their population... on a diet consisting largely of milk full of saturated fat.

Milk is fucking godly, end of.

Consider for a moment, if it was possible, to drink the milk
of a mammal other than a cow, let's say a rat. Or perhaps
the milk of a dog would be more to your liking. Possibly
some horse milk or cat milk. Do you get the idea? Well, I'm
not serious about this, except to suggest that human milk is
for human infants, dogs' milk is for pups, cows' milk is for
calves, cats' milk is for kittens, and so forth. Clearly,
this is the way nature intends it. Just use your own good
judgement on this one.

Milk is not just milk. The milk of every species of mammal
is unique and specifically tailored to the requirements of
that animal. For example, cows' milk is very much richer in
protein than human milk. Three to four times as much. It has
five to seven times the mineral content. However, it is
markedly deficient in essential fatty acids when compared to
human mothers' milk. Mothers' milk has six to ten times as
much of the essential fatty acids, especially linoleic acid.
(Incidentally, skimmed cow's milk has no linoleic acid). It
simply is not designed for humans.

Not designed for humans?

Meat isn't designed for humans, vegetables aren't designed for humans, fruit isn't designed for humans...

Do YOU see where I'm going?

Nothing is "designed" for humans consumption. The human body is designed to consume other things.

We have evolved with high levels of saturated fats in one form or another and cow milk is a good provider of this. Milk is full of health... we have evolved to drink it.

>>246729

THEY HAVE DIETS HIGH IN SATURATED FATS. THE SAME SO CALLED SATURATED FATS THAT CAUSE "HEART DISEASE".

Why then, do they not have high levels of heart problems? That's right, because there is no fucking correlation between high levels of sat fats (found in milk) and heart disease.

Drinking milk by itself, does not in any way cause heart disease. Jesus CHRIST. UNDERSTAND THAT.

Eeeeeeeesh, read it. Humans have evolved/are designed, around the food they eat. Food is not designed around the animals that eat it. Humans have evolved to eat foods high in saturated fat, cow milk is full of saturated fat... therefore, one can conclude, that milk is fine for human consumption.

>>246738

I was stating that their diets, high in sat fats, caused no heart problems. Therefore the sat fats in milk, that all those hotshot MDs spout to cause heart issues... are perfectly harmless.

A diet high in saturated fats, be it from milk or another source... is not in itself dangerous in anyway. It becomes dangerous when you combine the sat fats with high amounts of refined carbs and grains that the human body has not evolved to eat.

Anyone leading a healthy lifestyle (hopefully the majority of /fit/) has no danger regarding milk... it can do nothing but good for them, because the are using the milk's nutrients instead of sitting on their fat asses.
>> Anonymous
>>246741
No it doesn't.

Nothing was designed specifically for humans.
Humans were designed to adapt to use other things.

For example, I can use a rock to kill someone, does that mean the rock was meant for me to use as a weapon?

I can eat Dolphin meat, does the dolphin exist solely for my consumption?

Cow milk is designed for cows, they produce it themselves for the offspring. Human breast milk likewise for humans. I'd say thats the only substance specifically created for human consumption.
>> Anonymous
>>246757

Exactly.

Which doesn't rule out cow milk as being fine for humans to drink.

Ooooh, you're being picky, I see.

Fine, whatever. Eskimos don't drink lots of milk, but they do have diets high in saturated fat. The same saturated fat that supposedly makes milk bad.

The point still stands. Cultures that have diets high in saturated fat, do not have problems with heart disease. Therefore milk, which is high in saturated fat, is not responsible for heart disease.

What is OK for humans to drink and eat? Drinking the milk of a cow is the same as eating its meat. You're still being exposed to most of the same substances, though the milk has more nutritional value.

Similarly, why eat eggs? They're not made for consumption by anything, thats reproduction.

Given the opportunity, other animals will eat and drink the milk of another species. Its very common on farms for cross feeding to take place.
>> Anonymous
>Well, I'm not serious about this, except to suggest that human milk is for human infants, dogs' milk is for pups, cows' milk is for calves, cats' milk is for kittens, and so forth.

There have been NO conclusive studies that prove that milk, by itself, is unhealthy. Such studies do not exist. There is no conclusive proof one way or the other.

But what we can reason with, is actual, living proof that diets high in saturated fats do not cause any problems.
If saturated fats lead to perfectly healthy lifestyles within many tribes and nomadic peoples, why would milk be any different.

Saturated fat, be it from milk, or any other source... isn't bad for you.

Plastic, which is a petro. byproduct aren't intended for consumption for any animal, yet doesn't stop roaches from eating. Are you going to go argue with a roach about not eating plastic? No your not, if roaches can sustain themselves with it let them be, they evolved to be able to survive of it. If humans can do the same its not wrong, its nature, all animals evolve to do this.

Also there have been cases of animal species like dogs adopting kittens & letting them drink their milk (& vice versa) so dont say that animals always stick to the milk of their same species/animal

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1268481.stm

Since the early 1970s, study after study after study has implicated cow's milk and other dairy products as a cause of heart disease and clogged arteries. One researcher, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn from the Cleveland Clinic (the top-rated heart clinic in the U.S.), makes people "heart attack-proof" by putting them on a vegan diet (check out his groundbreaking paper in the American Journal of Cardiology, August 99).

International statistics indicate that there is a close correlation between the consumption of saturated fats (dairy fats and meat fats) and the mortality from coronary heart disease, and this conception has been confirmed by many epidemiological studies," concluded a study published in Circulation, a journal of the American Heart Association. "Practically total replacement of dairy fats by vegetable oils in the diets … was followed by a substantial reduction in the mortality of men from coronary heart disease. Total mortality also appeared to be reduced." (1)

In a study published in the International Journal of Cardiology, researchers studied seven countries with a high consumption of dairy products and found that heart disease mortality rose as milk supply rose.
