Now for something completely different.. Anonymous
Weight GAIN.

That's right, mis/fit/s. I've posted on this board a fair bit now, such as the first "/fit/s statistics" thread. But now I have one that just concerns my specific problem. I want to become bigger.

I've always been of a very light build, often judged as being underweight and unhealthy and weak. My frame has never been muscular nor stocky with fat, just slim.
Anyway,
About 8 months ago I started eating like a platoon of soldiers and started training with weights. I weighed in at 52kgs at 18 years old and my max bench was 25kgs or so.

Now I weigh around 63-65kgs (fluctuates) and am 4 months from being 19. My max bench now is about 68kgs or so, making the ratio above 1 :D.

Anyway, this is still no good, I still have a light frame, albeit some muscle on the upper body, some on the lower and a generous amount of definition or "rip"/tone etc. I still have no bulk or strength compared to some of the mis/fit/s here.

I'll answer any other questions you have for me relating to my problem.. or just curiosity.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Same issue here- Female, 19, 102 pounds.

I eat horribly unhealthy things (Lawl, college meal plan. Fried chicken, pizza, burgers, and thr occasional ramen and sandwich) I only work out twice a week (Martial arts,) but I do climb an assload of stairs to my classes everyday.

I just breached 100 pounds for the first time in my life around Christmas, and I'm not sure if it's healthy for me to stay so small. More than anything, though, I'd like to be able to work out without the ear of dropping into anorexia-land.

seconding plea for advice.

The best way to gain weight is to eat a lot of food right before bed. Starches and other long-burning foods work especially well for this. Keep doing that and you should be fine.

If that doesn't work, ask your doctor. In fact, the doc is generally a better resource to head to first than 4chan if you're really worried.

No, I don't want to gain weight via fat. And not that way either, binging on that shit would fuck my body and badly. The odd pizza here and there or subway (meaty stuff, none of that lowfat stuff) is usually my only take out.

Besides I eat a lot anyway. Quantities wise. Big plates, sometimes seconds for breakfast or dinner.

If you want muscle mass, then protein. The rule according to my wrestling coach was 1 gram of protein per 1lb of body weight. However, you can only process/digest, whatever term you want there, 30 grams of protein at a time. Make sure you have protein shortly before a workout, and right after if you want to gain muscle mass.

However, know this: I forget the exact number, but I believe that it was only 20% of males can actually get huge/buff without the use of steroids. I used creatine for a bit, and although it burned on the way down, it helped me out quite a bit.

However, if you just want to get fat, then sprinkle some doritos on chocolate ice cream. and eat that until it hurts.

Not worried, I don't look anything close to what I use to. Starting to just be considered small and weak rather than "anorexic". Fuck that term shitted me for a LONG time.

Nice to see there are others with the same problem as me.. I guess :P
Also, how tall are you? I'm 6' so far, still growing I imagine.

I'm at 145lbs right now only started eating protein heavy foods recently.

>>2131
What's your height?

Haha, doritos on icecream eh?

I have heard that protein is body builder's secret to success, but I have heard so much that it's all just common opinion and it actually does sweet fuck all extra.
However, I'm no sceptic, I'll take your advice and see how it goes in a month or so.

What time would you suggest to intake this protein and then work out? 8:00am Bacon and eggs in the morning (2 eggs) and then work out at like 10:00am?

go to the gym and do a routine such as this one..

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

keep calories over your daliey caloric maintenance level and spread that out over 7 meals in a day roughly every 2-3 hours and consume 1-1.5 g of protein per lb of body weight per day(mostly from animal sources and or protein shakes).
aka..just eat as much as you possibly can of high (complete) protein sources. with the rest of your calories filled with carbs low on the glycemic index (complex carbs(sweet potato, whole wheat bread, spinach, just to name a few)). look those up if you don't know what any of those things are.

Lawl, forgot height. yeah, I'm 5'6" or so. Not shorty-shorty, but not real tall either.

creatine is NOT a steroid. It is a naturally occurring nitrogenous organic acid that is found naturally in foods such as beef and fish. It is a great supplement because it helps your body produce more usable energy (ATP or Adenosine triphosphate) in your muscle cells . it can greatly increase muscular endurance with supplementation and is used in athletic training and in treatment of many muscular degenerative diseases

Given your height and weight, you don't sound too thin at all. But then again I wouldn't know, not that my opinion is worth anything anyway.

>>2184
Cheers man, I think I'll definitely go along with the protein heavy intake idea for a month or two and see how that goes. Also, thanks for the link, there's some good stuff here.
I do have a book on weights so far, called "weight training for dummies".

And in case it's important, my gear is:
Multigym - Machine press frame capable of incline row and horizontal and shoulders. Has lat bar and tricep pull-down attachment. Covers most arm extension and curls too.
Free Weights - Bench, bar bell, 2 dumbells, "tricep blaster" bar, curling bar. Standard disks to a maximum of 40kg total.

Eh, I'm not deadly thin. But still about 15-20 pounds underweight, and it's difficult to maintain if I try working out.

Ah well, I'll just check out some other threads. Thanks anon!

Yeah, that site has a lot of good threads that are quite accurate. I understand your delema when i first entered college (last year) I was 6'3'' 150lbs i started working out and following the advice i just gave you and in a year and 3 months time have been able to gain 40 lbs and am now up to 6'3'' 190lbs with minimal fat gain. so there is no question it can be done it just depends how dedicated you are. Always remember this, nutrition is 90% of the battle. If you don't fuel your body it won't grow and you will be weak and feel shitty. Stick to your nutrition and work out hard and you will surly gain weight in no time!
