How an inexperienced body can start up a workout. Anonymous
Greetings /fit/,

Haven't really exercised hard in my life, the last time I had regular athletics was Gym back in 10th grade. I was 160 then and around 5'5 to 5'7, and felt too heavy, so the addition of 30 pounds (190 lbs, 5'7 feet tall) has made me even heavier. My arms are thin as rails and legs aren't well developed, nothing to say of the rest of the body.

I had gotten a gym membership last year in between graduation and college (Took a year off), but I could pussy out of it due to the distance and then the lack of a car after I got into a crash, but now I have a gym at the bottom of my dorm, I'm tired of the vidya by and large, and there's more women than men here.

With Diet I understand the simple basics (eat smaller meals more often than a few big ones, don't drink soda), and willpower is up to me, but I'm left a bit lost in where to begin. How should someone with no hard experience exercising begin?

Read up before you go to the gym, if you have a friend ask to go with him to show you the ropes. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing 100% clueless people curling 10 pound weights 500 times.

And more importantly, eat CLEAN food and do a lot of cardio. Get a camera or a weight scale so you don't pussy out a couple weeks in and you keep your motivation.

Another good program is

Starting Strength

Its like stronglifts but its a shorter workout, don't let that fool you its still as effective if not more then stronglifts.

Stronglifts targets more muscles with a couple more accessory exercises, it's better if you're not fatigued by the time last exercise comes up
