/fit/, I hired a personal trainer today. What should I look out for to make sure I'm on the right track? Have you had experience with one before?

Is relavent to my interests

Personal trainers arent that bad they can help you with form!

Make sure they don't just stick you on machines, barbell work is very important for starters

Things to look out for:
-Easy training (you don't want a personal trainer who's muching of you while he makes you do pussy exercises and doesn't push you).
-He has to be a certificate Personal trainer.
-Good proper form that he can pass on to you.

This is all I can think about for now.

My trainer is at 35 an hour, is this about the average? what do you find the price generally being

Yes that's about average for us non millionaire people. It can vary though but generally at the gyms I've been part of its averaging 40.

Good personal trainers want their clients to no longer need them. (ie. He ought to teach you stuff so you can eventually be self sufficient, since he won't be helping you exercise when you're 65. If he doesn't teach you, he's just wants to get as much of your money as possible before you quit.)

OP: I got two Personal Trainer sessions from my gym for free. He taught me good form with the bench, squat, and deads.

I thanked him much and proceeded to do my own routine from then on.

You could have you PT make a routine for you instead. Its just on /fit/, most of us are fucking nerds and research, research and think we know best.

They are a tool, use them as such.

And ignore the people to poor to afford one making fun of you.
