So, i read somewhere that strength training once a week gives you 70% of the results strength training twice a week do.

Can anyone debunk/verify this?

Beginners definitly don't need 6 days of recovery from a weight training session. I can't tell the percentage, but they are wasting time where they could be lifting.

Why not? They may be doing less weight than mr.hardcore over there, but it still can be just as intense for them, thus requiring more recovery time.

No. Beginners don't damage their muscles as much as pros. It's not about intensity.
