Whether you're burning carbs or fat depends on how much carbohydrate energy you have stored in your liver. If you've been loading up on carbs in the previous few hours, you'll be burning carbs. Once your liver is out of carbs, your bodies resorts to burning fat reserves.
The kind of energy burned has nothing to do with the exercise, it's entirely dependent on what kind of energy is available. The body burns carbs first (if available), then fats.
