18.350. 6'5.

I'm huge. I have had an epitame that all of my fitness problems are my fault, and mine alone. No one is going to lose this weight for me, so I have come to you /fit/ for advice.

My biggest problem, is that I have never eaten right in my life. Parents would always come home from work tired and just get fast food and rarely cook at home more than 2 times a week. I am just learning how to cook and I don't really know what foods to get at the store. I know every meal should have a complex carb/protien/fiber(?) but I don't know what healthy foods are good and how to prepare them. (Just learning how to cook)

I have been reading Burn The Fat, Feed the Muscle, and wondering what other books you guys recommend (Can't afford Strength Training, is the new ver much better than the old?)

I have never been in a gym, outside of school, before and I have no earthly clue how to lift weights. I just moved to a new town so i don't have any friends to show me the ropes. Should I ask for advice at the gym or wut?

What ways do you guys track your progress? Are there any specific computer programs?

Thanks guys!

I'll fill in the requisite response: OATZ.
Chicken, salmon, green vegetables.

Chicken and salmon, look for consistency. Chicken needs to be not-pink, whitish on the inside, and the same all the way through. Salmon...I just know it all needs to look the same. Real whole grain stuff, long grain rice...I dunno, it's late, I need to study, I'm also a newfag, someone else will add.

For extra fat-burning nutrition.

(Don't actually follow the routine, just read it to give you an idea of what you want to do with your diet)

If you're too heavy to run, use a bike/walk to build up your leg muscle. Lift weight, you already know this, to maximize your metabolism. Drink nothing but water/Green Tea.

Also don't feel self-conscious if you go to a gym, everyone is too concentrated on themselves to notice you. Being an ex-fatass, I always feel pride seeing fatties at the gym, I feel comfortable around my people. I actually talked for an hour to a guy about your size at the gym, giving him shitloads of nutritional advice, he was basically in the dark.

Feels Good, Man.

Thanks

I know its extremely hard to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. Retarded question, would weight lifting increase my metabolic rate, but not have much muscle development since I have a calorie deficit?
