a few things
first off, become aware of how much shit you're putting into your system. you don't even have to count the calories per day; just read up on how many calories a person of your size would need to gain/lose/maintain your weight. then start looking at the calories of everything you eat just to put things in perspective. i used to eat 6 cookies at a time. i stop myself from eating even one now.
also, get in the habit of only drinking water with your meals. it's better for you, and you're not doubling your caloric intake.
then gradually start to eat less. don't starve yourself, just don't take as big of portions as you're used to. as you eat less, your stomach will eventually shrink and reduce your appetite. it takes a while, though.
if you can manage it, try to eat 5-6 small (350-450 calorie) meals a day instead of eating 3 huge meals until you're full. that's probably the biggest thing; fat people like to eat until they feel full as opposed to feeling nourished. try to slow down how quickly you eat to gauge which is which.
