/fit/ I'm in the middle of a nightmare. As a young child I ate 2 lemons a day, now at 18 years old they have destroyed my teeth. I have several cavities along my back teeth and one bled a little earlier, how do I get rid of them?

(pic isn't mine and mine aren't that bad, all surface apart from one hole)

why the FUCK would you eat two lemons a day?

I craved them, I would drench them in salt and eat the whole thing minus the skin.

Funny thing is, I asked my doctor and the dumb bitch told me there would be no medical implications resulting from my actions. No wonder I haven't seen a GP in 2 years...

tell her to gb2 the KITCHENZ and fix you a fucking sandwich.

I do the same minus the salt + the skin. And only one a day I am trying to fight off scurvy.

If you have the money and I mean like $500 a tooth porcelain veneers are always an option.

Also on a side note /fit/ is not a dentist, visit a dentist and don't be shy because your teeth are shit.

The cavity bled or the gums bled? If the cavity itself is bleeding, you probably should see a dentist because I guess that would mean the blood is coming deep from within the gum or root and coming out through the tooth. Never heard of that, sounds bad.

As for cavities, its pretty much impossible to get rid of them.

Brush 2-3 times a day with either ToothSoap or a specialty toothpaste that advertises Liquid Calcium for tooth regneration. Also, take calcium suppliments.

Floss first, then brush, then mouthwash, then do a salt rinse. You can choose to do only 1 mouthwash/salt rinse if you want.

They wont go away, but you can hopefully stop them from getting worse.

Straight out of the cavity, thanks alot. I'm going to do this until I have the money for veneers, do they last forever?
>> Anonymous
Oh yeah, to make things worse I have braces on, which haven't been checked in 11 months, stupid question but will I have squares or other complications?
>> Anonymous
Go see a dentist. Depending on how bad it is, he probably won't pull them out, he'll just drill them a little and then put fillings in.

Otherwise, get some gold teeth.

Hear what you want to hear, but your teeth are fucked. The tooth isn't some part of your body that regenerates itself - after having a hole in it for doing something stupid like eating lemons every day, it's there permanently.

I read a pamphlet on the fact that cavities *can* heal... but I forgot how, seeing as I've never had a cavity in my life.

I doubt it was the lemons, honest.

Ok, avoid foods that are sugary (starch = sugar) as they will feed the bacteria. You should also be brushing your teeth after every meal and be flossing. I suggest you google the healing of cavities as I know there are writings on it and I'm not gonna do it for you.

You lose, good day sir

Can I brush with baking soda?
>> Anonymous
>>192785
From wikihow.com:

"Baking soda can and actually does dissolve orthodonthic glue. Don't use this recipe if you wear braces or any other kind of permanent/fixed dental correctors!"

Jesus this board is full of fail.

1) Go to a dentist, this should be obvious, don't ask fucking morons on the internet like us.

2) Acids will damage your enamel and it doesn't really grow back. If you eat sugar, the bacteria in your mouth will eat it and produce acids, this is why sugar is bad for your teeth.

3) You can't get veneers for your molars you fucking morons, those are for your front teeth. If it's the molars, just go to a fucking dentist and get them filled. Teeth filling is the same colour as your teeth, noone will know unless they stick their head in your mouth.

Real cavities can't heal, if the enamel is gone and part of your tooth exposed, you have to get it filled by a dentist.

If it's just a weakening of the enamel, it might heal itself if you brush twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride.

Baking soda.. GTFO.

GO TO THE DENTIST NOW
The only thing they can do is get worse.

Look up the wikipedia article on cavities, go barf, and then get your ass to the dentist for some crowns.

This is where it's going. It's fucking sick. Your mouth is a bacteria playground.

:O I think I'll get crowns then, I don't care about price. Odd thing is I brush 3 times a day...

ITT: 4chan's resident dental team

OP, you're an idiot. Go to a real dentist. Secondly, veneers aren't for molars, douchebag. Look forward to enjoying ur root fillings. Or having the teeth taken out.
Implants cost about $1800 a tooth, and you'll forever be plagued by gum infections.

Thirdly, brushing too often can be hazardous too. You shouldn't brush within an hour of eating because the enamel is soft in this time, and you'll brush it away and leave your mouth open to a bacteria party.

Injections of calcium or something, won't work permanently though.

fuck. this thread is scary :(

k so I've talked to my dentist before, he tells me that aside from brushing/fluoride mouthwash/flossing, I have genetically shitty enamel as does the rest of my family and I'm pretty much boned.
I brush with this liquid calcium and enamel repair toothpaste(pic related), I floss, I use special fluoride mouthwash, I've read that you shouldn't rinse your mouth out after brushing your teeth or using the mouthwash, just simply spit it out as best you can because rinsing does the same thing as drinking- it negates it all.

I use an electric toothbrush because I was afraid a regular toothbrush wasn't doing a good enough job. And now I hear brushing your teeth can actually AID in wearing away enamel??

all this shit and I still get minor cavities and plaque buildup every fucking checkup.

I'm out of fucking ideas, /fit/, how do I stop my teeth from rotting away nomatter what I do?
>> Anonymous
my dentist told me that brushing after every food article you put into your mouth is retarded and regressive.

What you should do is every time you eat something that sticks in your teeth, chew some sugarfree toothpaste gum(you know the kind). Every time you eat/drink something excessively sugary or tart/acidic, rinse your mouth out with some simple mouthwash or fuck, just WATER will do the goddamn trick, just so long as it's not on your teeth anymore.

Seriously that gum shit is straight from heaven, I chew it all the time.

professional dental hygiene is awesome. Get it, really helped improve my gums and takes care of plaque.
Other than that, use a paste that is not too abrasive, like sensodyne.
"Sensitive" toothpaste has smaller grinding particles that don't wear down your enamel so fast.
>> Anonymous
>>194464
yknow, I tried that, but I felt it made my teeth feel even MORE sensitive.

also:
>professional dental hygiene
uh...
>> Anonymous
>>194467
Dentists offer that. A good one will have a dental hygienist in his crew that takes care of your teeth for an hour or so. Real good shit.
Costs 50 to 100 bucks and holds for some month, but you get teeth like new.
>> Anonymous
>>194481
Oh yeah.
What, you don't get regular checkups where they do this to you by default?
Mmm, delicious watermelon fluoride paste.
>> Anonymous
I read somewhere that scientists are working on some sort of ultrasonic therapy for tooth regeneration and would cost ~$2000 per tooth but for someone who has three ceramics and a possible fourth one coming up,I guess its going to be worth it.

I've also read about a genetically modified bacterium that is identical in every way to the one that breaks down starch/sugar into chemicals that dissolve teeth- only they don't dissolve anything. It's also made to attack and overwhelm the dissolving bacteria so that it takes over it's place in your oral flora.
They say you'd need one treatment, ever, it would take two appointments for applying it with a simple swab.

Damn I love the sound of that.
