Someone come and beat this shit out of me till I get in shape. Seriously. I know I need to lose weight, but I have no motivation.

Is the pic related? If so, I'm not sure what you categorize weight loss under, but it can fall under Safety and Basic. You have less chance of heart problems or diabetes and all the wonderful problems that come with excess weight.

As for motivators, I still haven't found mine. I'm pretty sure it's getting a partner to exercise with, but school and work makes cooperating schedules impossible.

So what's working for me now is having a weekly schedule of when I have to exercise. Wake up 30 minutes earlier to do 30 minutes that will give me energy all day.

Other motivators that work for people are joining a gym (when you spend the money, you won't want to waste it).

That's some I can think of. You could also set a weekly weight loss (long-term is very daunting). If you also want to get some muscle, measure inches, since you should be losing fat and gaining muscle.

it doesn't fall under safety or basic

basic is instinctual (like, I need to eat so I don't starve rawr I'm a wild aminal human on the savannah)

safety is almost as instinctual (it's the fight or flight reflex)

being in shape could be "belonging" if the motivation is to get the friends and wimminz

"ego-status" if it's the pride of HAVING the friends, wimminz, and elite body

"self-actualization" if it's practically a religious reason, as in "I have this body, and I am morally bound to make it as efficient as possible simply because I recognize this fact to be a Truth"

Take an aerobics class at a community college.

Shame will motivate you, especially if you are a fat man.
