Dear /fit/

I'm about to have two of my wisdom teeth pulled, and I'm totally fucking nervous
Mine aren't impacted, they just have cavities, but i'm a huge wuss
Can anyone tell me what it's like? Does it hurt a lot? :(

You're a pussy.

Yeah, it hurts a lot. It's the most painful procedure I've been through, and I've had my left nut turned 720 degrees and stapled to my scrotum before. The worst part is that it doesn't go away no matter what you do -- think back surgery. If someone works on your spleen, shit aches but if you remain immobilized you're okay. With your teeth, there's air moving over them, conditions constantly vary, you have to eat, you're choking on your own blood, and your entire head feels like someone took a hammer to it.

Get used to the taste of gauze.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and it was no big deal. They were impacted, but I was knocked out for the surgery. I also got pain killers for after.

I didn't get knocked out for surgery and it didn't hurt during the extraction at all. After the freezing wears off it hurts, but it's not unbearable. Be prepared to live off liquids for a while.

hurts like a bitch when the anaesthetic wears off. The procedure itself is relatively painless (unless you've an incompetent dentist who hits the bone when putting in the needle)

Also: DO NOT SUCK ON THE SCABS OR USE A STRAW AFTERWARDS.

If you suck on anything for a few days afterwards the scabs fall out. This is known as dry socket. You've now a hole in your gums that goes all the way down to the jawbone. It hurts like fuck and takes a long time to heal.

OP, I've heard that pinapple is very good for soothing teeth-related-pain. There are enzymes in it that work as a anti-inflammatory, or something?

Eat or drink pinapple for aslong as you can before your tooth extraction, and afterwards too.

Also, on the plus side, if you have a lady friend, pinapple makes your cum sweeter too.

(Good luck!)

It will hurt like hell.

Wouldn't the acid in pineapple cause terrible, terrible pain?

OP dont worry.

most of these faggots probably got a botched surgery. depending on how much time you have ask your dentist whos the best around. i had all 4 removed in the mornign and i went out with friends that night. take it i brought my gauze with me but it was a disappointment. people got me all worked up on how bad it was going to be and my friend when he got his pulled was in bed ridden for 2 days. but thats coming from a guy who is breathless and utterly exausted after 5 minutes on an elliptical with res5. 5 MINUTES.

it is a pushover of a surgery and as long as you have a skilled professional working on your mouth you can sign that waiver with peace of mind.

i was crying as soon as the anesthesia wore off. i was in no pain and i kept asking my mom (she was my designated driver) why i was crying? it was just the hysteria of the anesthetics wearing off. seriously OP only a woman or pansy man would think of it as a major surgery.

youd have to eat a shit ton of pineapple to get any of the mouth healing goodness of it, i'd just recommend getting some vitamins with the thing in it that pineapple has. i can't remember what it's called, but google's there for you.

the pain wasn't all that bad for me, but i did get a nasty infection (no dry socket though, thank god) make sure you get antibiotics afterwards! my lip was numb for about 5 days after i got the teeth out, don't panic if that happens. it goes away.

i should mention though that i have had 2 adult teeth removed for crowding before along with a gumline graft for a receding gumline. im no oral surgery noob.

but my mother was yelled at by a dentist once for me having a low tolerance for pain.

and MY wisdom teeth were impacted.

if youve ever pulled a baby tooth out and can remember that pain its like that and throbbing a little sometimes while your not on your pAIN MEDS.

also no straws, cigarrettes, or sucking pecker like most of the wimpy fags in this thread. pe careful even swallowing liquids. ive heard dry-socket is the worst pain imaginable

+if you have a lot of trouble swallowing beyond 3 days or so, or if you get an awful taste in your mouth all the time, gb2/doc/ because you probably have an infection. i had one and it caused a cyst thing in my neck and the doctors had to cut it open and put a tube in it, which is much much much more annoying than just the teeth were.

though for that i did get the good meds, they only put me on ibuprofen the first time.

I had 4 done the same day. Shit sucked, painkillers wouldnt take for the 3rd and 4th (lower jaw). So he just went ahead with it. I thought I knew pain....WRONG. Holy fuck, I nearly passed out. I did after I got home. IT WAS PAIN, STARING AT ME DEAD IN THE EYE, RAPING ME WITH A SHARPED BARBWIRE BONER. But all got dug out. Fuckers were sideways. Sideways, how the fuck that happens? Anyway.

Few hours later, wake up, throw up blood and shit.
Thanks to great painkillers I was out of it for 2 days or so. Couldnt eat for about a week or so.
Shit sucked, but hey, at least I got it done for cheap. $250 bucks, drugs included. Hurray 3rld world dentistry!
tl;dr: pray the painkillers take. Shit will suck.

I had a wisdom tooth taken out a few years ago, and the dentist was very good. It was just a big shot of Novacaine, and she just cranked it out of the jaw. It wasn't painful, but the crunching sound of having a tooth wrenched out might make you squeemish.
She sent me home with just a wad of gauze in my mouth, and told me aspirin would take care of any further pain, and she was right. I was really surprised... I expected more hurt.

More recently, I had two root canals done, and it was virtually painless. I don't worry about dentists these days. Although you can't walk out of the office without finding something else wrong with your teeth!

Good luck

Pineapple contains protein digesting enzymes, it will only make the pain worse.

My wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My teeth were growing horizontally, instead of vertically. Due to that, my teeth grew beneath the flesh. So they had to cut open the flesh, split the teeth in 4 pieces. Removing the teeth 1 by 1 and sew back the flash. After the freezing wears off, the pain kicked in. Had to drink lots of ibuprofen.

BTW: if the dentist hits the wrong nerve, your feelings in your lip might be immobilized forever.

Ha that happened to me. I didnt need no fuckin doctor. I pinched the cyst until all of the nasty as shit tasting brown goop was out then I swished some hydrogen peroxide around the cyst. The taste in my mouth for the next hour was like constantly chewing on horse shit but it got the job done.

Also I was doing the surgery on hard mode and didn't use any of the pain meds. I now have a bunch of pain killers sitting in my closet. ye ha

It wasn't painful, but for about 12 hours after the operation I was sick to my stomach, probably because it was filled with nothing but my own blood. Sucked and I felt like I was going to puke constantly for a day and a half, but I never threw up (did choke down bile regularly). It's not painful.

Not having solid food blows hard, I was afraid of breaking the stitches so I didn't eat for a week.

Pulling teeth doesn't really hurt. Just take a few painkillers when you feel the pain sneaking up on you. You'll be fine. :p

I had 6 wisdom teeth.

6!

My great Grandad got an infection in his bottom gums and went to the dentist, he told them to take his teeth out, they said that they couldn't do it because they had no anesthesia. My great Grandad told them to just take all of them out without the anesthesia, so he had the pain of the gum disease and the pain of having all of his bottom teeth being taken out, without anything to nullify the pain.

I guess you just have to take the pain.

I had mine removed a while back, all four at once, didn't hurt a bit. They knocked me completely out for it, removed them, sent me home, I was pretty much fine the next day, just had to be careful not to play with the holes with my tongue too much, rinse them out. Of course, mine had yet to break the gumline, so I can't say much for what your experience will be like, just know that it's not always a doomsday scenario.

I had to have 4 taken out of me, but have them 2 a week. I had it done at a local place, so I wasn't knocked out, only numbed. I literally had to sit there and watch as the doc would hold on the side of my head like a football, and yank them out.

The first 2 were impacted, and hurt like fuck -- that whole week was pretty rough. So, when I went back the next week, I was pretty shaken up. Luckily, the next 2 weren't impacted, they were pulled in no time at all, and I had a cheeseburger for lunch that day. So, I guess it depends, really. I've had both a good and bad experience with it.
