tl:dr Is there a good way to mutitask excercise while at a computer?

I frequently sit upon a futon with a desktop right next to it. I'm constantly doing nothing, just have some 5lb weights that I lift until I'm tired of doing it (while watching anime). I have a lot of free leg space and general movement too.

That neither burns many calories or works out the muscle. It's one or the other, mate.

I've never been able to multitask while working out. You can sorta get away with it for cardio (like treadmill while watching TV), but I could never pull it off with heavy lifting.

oh the dumbell lifting? I guess I've been wasting my time then. Any suggestions then?

Loser exercises? I suppose looking left/right/center with many breaks for vision, neck strain. No real "workouts".

The body is designed to move, to be in constant motion rather than ass-locked to a chair. How important is that computer?

Why nt get a tread mill? A cheap one and run on it while wathicn anime with headphones on.

Also there was something in the news about some desk employee that took thier chair out and put a threadmill in and put the computer in front of her so she can walk/jog while working. I think it said she can cover about 10-15km/day while her other co-works just sit around.

well i'm mostly on my computer, so i thought besides the desktop mutitasking i would go for some in irl too. Hell, I can't go to a gym and I got pretty much nothing at home, just 5lb dumbells and pushups and situps.

It would look really stupid if I was just running in place, but works the same if I had said treadmill right?

no more suggestions then?

A folding treadmill will be good so you can excerise while watching stuff or working on the computer as I sid before .Just set the unit to a walking or speed walking pace. Will it look stupid? IMHO no. I've seen a lot of people here witht he same views of getting a treadmill to they can watch tv while staying fit. However I don't know of anyone that has done the treadmill while on the computer but I definately would like to try that. This is inside your own home so why the heck would you care if anyone is looking? This is for your own health and fitness.

All movement burns calories, so if you want to sit there and wiggle around/kick your feet/etc do so...but that won't replace doing an actual workout. Get your cardio/resistance in, and then consider everything else bonus points.

Some multi-tasking supplements of mine are:
a) Taking the dog for a walk/run
b) Heavy yardwork
c) Muscle isolations while watching tv
d) Being obnoxiously fidgety while reading (leg scissoring, shimmies, pacing, etc)
