hey /fit/,

I just bought a body fat % scale. anybody else own one of these things? my understanding is the number it gives you is bogus, but the bogus number is consistent, i.e. useful for tracking change. Whaddya think? Pic related.

Just get a caliper you ignorant fuck.

I lost like 60 pounds and i'm thinking with all the loose skin that calipers would not give me an accurate reading.

I own a similar model. I use it to keep track of my weight BF% weekly.
the BF& part of it is not 100% accurate, sometimes it changes throughout the day, but I use it as a guideline...

my main records are monthly pictures, weekly weight, weekly BF% from the scale, and monthly tape measurements (myotape)

i have one as well, and yeah mine seems to register way too high. it puts me at a 23-24 regularly(and im fairly lean) but i did notice it can pick up on changes, but probably not the small ones. Ive also read that the impulse that it sends through the body can get fucked up by what you eat, minerals, etc. Ive never relied upon it. Truthfully there is only one thing you can really rely on: the mirror

It would likely be very accurate, since "loose skin" = a very thin layer of epidermis + a lot of loose fat.

they are mostly pieces of shit, i've had it change like 3% within the same day
