I am a girl that has never shaved down there and am considering it for the 1st time? Are there any unusual consequences and pitfalls to avoid?
>> Anonymous

Yes, avoid sticking the razor IN your cooter, it could really ruin your day. Other than that, no pitfalls.

wax, don't shave. When the hair starts coming back, it will itch like hell at first. watch for ingrown hairs.

I wouldn't shave, will itch like hell and might find you get rash. Use hair removing cream or wax. Cream if you shy about going to salon.

just cut them down with a scissor.

If you're actually going to shave then you need to shave with the grain. You should wax.

Do not shave

If your going to shave, use a sharp razor and be careful, don't press too hard, go with the grain and moisturize after.

third. wax thighs/top on pubic bit area, and trim near sensitive areas.

I prefer shaved. Bush = Gross.

If there is hair anywhere aside from the 'airstrip' area, like some down along the sides of the vag, I'm out. Not going down on that.

Even feels gross if my dick touches it.

So shave.

Laser hair removal is your friend.

It's pricey, but low maintenance and stubble is non-existant.
>> Anonymous
imo as a guy, just trim. Although I might actually slightly prefer shaven, if I was a girl and knew what I know, I'd just trim.

Shaving is too much trouble for what it's worth, trimming looks plenty good and is relatively easy and painless.

if you don't shave at least keep it trimmed short

Haven't read anything except the first four posts - how the fuck do I wax myself? Not OP here, but girl who shaves and is sick of it. I don't want to get it done professionally because I am too self-fucking-conscious.

1) apply hot wax.
2) apply paper.
3) remove paper against the grain very rapidly.
4) bite piece of wood so as not to chip teeth or remove tongue.
5) ???
6) profit!

Not even close. If you like hair down there you're a caveman.

I find it gross. Personal preference. Been with full bush (do not want!), trimmed (perfectly acceptable) and completely shaved (perfect).

full bush is a bit overkill but if the girl is hot enough i'd put up with it

shaved is ok but kind of overkill imo

Never got a rash from shaving, ingrown hairs are occasional but a real bitch. If you've never done it before, might be a good idea to shave (with the grain, don't make a lot of passes) before you have a few days (or a week, really) to yourself where in case it does grow back and itches like mad, you can take care of that comfortably. Really, the hair growing back itches something fierce but goes away after a while. Did for me, at least.
>> Anonymous
I've been using Nair since I was 14.

Bitches.
>> Anonymous
If you shave, you will eventually start growing a beard as thick as a man's down there. I suggest waxing or just trimming.

As for pitfalls, well, be sure to soap/mousse the hair up, stretch the skin with your fingers and carefully (and not against the running of the hair) shave with slow strokes.
>> Anonymous
>>29085
that's complete bullshit and i wish people would stop perpetuating this retarded myth that shaving makes your hair grow back faster/thicker/dark/whatever. it's COMPLETE BULLSHIT
>> Anonymous
>>29088
Are you stupid? It's exactly like that. It's not a myth. Just shave for a while and then wax and notice the difference between the hairs.

When you wax, NEW hairs grow in and are smoother, but the same width. When you shave, the ends have been chopped off so that it is coarser when it grows back.

tl;dr myth

Can't believe nobody has mentioned this before.

After shaving apply deoderant. The white stick kind (not gel). It really reduces skin irritation a LOT.
>> Anonymous
>>29101
probably not the greatest idea since some of the ingredients in most deoderants aren't the most healthy things in the world
>> Anonymous
>>29103

it's not any worst than applying it under your arms. the reduction in irritation is way worth it.
>> Anonymous
Hi I'm not OP but also a girl who's in the same boat. I use an epilator for my arms, underarms and legs, but I have a feeling that's would be way too painful if I tried to use it down there. I'm too shy to go get waxed by anyone and I hear doing it yourself is messy, so I'd like to get a cream or something. I hear a lot of guys saying Nair, but uh... I have a feeling they don't know what they're talking about. Isn't Nair too strong or irritating or something to use on sensitive skin like that? Can someone who knows about this stuff tell me more about hair-removing creams that won't hurt please?
>> Anonymous
>>28992

The biting comes as a result of pain, not in preparation for it, but it could go either way. Splitting hairs, really.

>>29103

The aluminum isn't absorbed into the skin. It just sits there and does its metallic thing.
>> Anonymous
>>29101
DEODORANT? This is what happens when you let women shave unattended. If you shave right (lather, &c.), you're not going to have any irritation, except possibly the first time or two you do it. Not using one of those awful electric razors helps too, of course.
>> Anonymous
>>29124

Chances are you won't find any pain free creams. Nair is probably as good a choice as anything else.
>> Anonymous
>>29124

I use nair. I'm a guy. It doesn't hurt. My girlfriend loves it.

That's about the short of it. I used to just shave but it got to the point where I'd have to shave it every day. Nair seems to give me a good while in-between.
>> Anonymous
Do NOT use Nair (or Veet). The stuff is only effective on fine hair, and irritates skin like crazy. On top of that, it smells like rotten eggs, and I'd prefer anything to bumpy and rotten.
>> Anonymous
Spa done Brazillian waxing...
Laser Hair removal...
Trimming...

Ultimately the best options.
>> Anonymous
>>29141

Hm kay, but then what should I use?
>> Anonymous
Veet is crap. I used the hair removal cream and it doesn't work and smells AWFUL. I tried the wax on other areas, and when I pulled it off there was just a load of wax left in it's place.

I'm too much of a pussy to wax. I find shaving fine if I'm careful enough about it. Not that I even cut myself in the beginning. Then I applied body butter/moisturiser afterwards so it doesn't get irritated.

Also,>>29093
Actually total myth. No more hair grows down there than waxing. The only difference is that shaving produces coarse, thicker hair - which fines itself out once it's been "worn" a bit. Waxing hair is finer because the ends are worn from the folicle from the beginning.
>> Anonymous
Before you shave, I'd like to see what you're working with.
>> Anonymous
>>28699

I'm a guy that keeps either short or shaved. I think pubes are disgusting.

Get something electric to trim it down to a manageable length before using a razor. A beard trimmer or something will work. Then take a warm bath to get the skin all nice and soft. Use some mild shaving lotion and then go with the grain. The first time you are not going to want to go against.

I've also tried sugaring and, although it hurts like a BITCH at first, the results are quite nice.

Wax your inner thighs, perinium, all the way up to your outer labia lips and clitoral hood.

Leave the hair above your pubic bone, that hair is sexy as fuck.
>> Anonymous
>>29276

Well it sort of depends on how hairy you are. If you naturally don't have that much hair, you're fine not doing anything really. If you've got anywhere between a bit and a lot, trimming it would be nice. Shaving is nice too if you have the dedication to stick with it and shave every day, but if you don't, you'll get all prickly when the hair starts to grow back in and that's uncomfortable.

TL;DR: I prefer when guys just trim a bit. What say you other girls?

Oh god kill it with fire.

Personally I wouldn't care if a woman shaved, armpits and legs included.
