So I went to Bikram's Hot Yoga yesterday morning for the first time, and /damn/ was it one intense workout. I loved it, and I think its really nifty that pretty much every muscle from my neck to my feet /hurts/.

They say I can come in every day. My intuition, and what I know about how my body works, says that I should take the day off. What does /fit/ say?

Hm, your body shouldn't hurt after doing yoga, but wutevs.

You can go in day after day, or you can treat it like any workout, with days on and off alternated.

Workout everyday as much as you can, that will pack the muscle one because of constant, consistent growth.

I did yoga for the first time yesterday, just to see what is so good about it... didn't really believe it was anything. BUT wow was I wrong! lol The rest of the day.. I felt like my body was floating on water.. amazing, I can't really explain it, like a state of euphoria without a drug, now I do yoga a hour a day.

I did yoga at my school, but the teacher was some hippie from the 60s, so we had to do a bunch of Indian bullshit by chanting and learning the names of the poses in hindu. It was only once a week which was really dumb imo... twice or 3 times a week keeps me on my toes and interested in the class.

I'd rather take it at an off-campus studio.

Yoga is spectacular for your body . . . and it's very possible to get sore when you first start doing it.

That said, don't start thinking that it's something that it isn't. It's not a workout.

It is, however, terrific for joints, ligaments and muscles. Stretching is good, stretching when you actually work out a lot is even better.

yoga = the ying
weightlifting = the yang

in a perfect world, i would do both, with equal emphasis, they perfectly compliment each other
