Dear /fit/:

I am going to be going on vacation here soon for about 2 months. Over this vacation, I decided to get fit and finally get rid of my belly.

My plan was to swim 25-30 laps in a pool everyday, diet, and maybe take some weight loss pills to expedite the process. I plan to do this for 2 months before I head back to school.

My main goal is to get rid of all excess body fat, mainly in my stomach. I want to have a flat stomach, so I don't look fat. Oh yeah, and gain some muscle mass while doing it too.

Is this a good plan? Anything I could improve on, or should I be good doing this?

lol, impossible.

Do it, nothing stopping you but your fatness. Don't let up at all but try not to kill yourself.

I am not really fat. 5'10", 172 lbs. A little on the heavy side of average, but I conceal it well.

I just to be able to look good in tighter clothing, and be proud of what I look at in the mirror.

But do you think I will see results in the regiment I have planned?

stay off the pills. They won't help.

Really? I figured that would make the whole process go faster.

Have you ever researched those pills that you think would help? Like serious research. I'm not talking the manufacturer's website or anything like that. I mean peer reviewed research papers, back alley internet forums, things like that.

You can't be this clueless can you?

I've heard they help you lose weight, but usually the weight lose comes back pretty quick if you don't exercise.

I figured I could take a week or two worth to make the process go a little quicker, then keep up good exercise to let my body do the rest.

But I guess I won't be doing that anymore. Thanks.

Yeah. Like I said, on the big side of average.

But nevertheless, I have a belly and some manboobs I wanna work off, and have heard swimming is excellent to lose weight. I just wanted some 'expert' opinion before I began so my efforts wouldn't be in vain.

How big is this pool of yours, OP?

pills are for bitches.

I honestly have no idea.

I would guestimate about 5-10 yards. Just an average, backyard pool.

Swimming won't get rid of much body fat if you're fat. It'll mainly keep you a good weight. Body fat = insulation from cold water, calories are expended to warm you up. Not many calories lost.

Fuck. I heard swimming was great to lose weight.

But I am not really fat. Pretty well average. Just looking to get rid of my belly and get some muscle.

ultimate fail.
Swimming burns calories just like any other cardio .

do it OP

cardio + improved diet

ignore the pills, they're bullshit.

Thanks. I will be sure to start and keep to it. I might even be sure to post my progress if anyone cares at all.

Mayhap you all could give me a few pointers with my diet?

I was considering skipping breakfast (or just some buttered toast), eating a salad lunch, and a light dinner. Minimum amounts of sweets (I have a massive sweet tooth, I just cannot help myself), and no sodas... only water. And a vitamin with dinner. This sound good, or can it be improved?

That is HOW I want to look. Nice flat chest, no man boobs (I have pectus, so even though mine aren't bad, they are accented by the hole in my chest) and fairly lean. I would be beyond happy if I looked like that in 3 months.

never skip breakfast, it should be the biggest meal of the day with protein + high and low GI carbs

like eggs + oats + a banana

I see.

So a nice hearty breakfast is important. Noted.

Thanks so much /fit/. You have been a big help. I am certain I will make good progress.
