Sooo~

I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm gonna anyway.

I've heard about a procedure for fertilization that somehow combines the genetic material of two eggs to make a baby.. or something like that.

Y'know.. so two women can actually make a baby together? Right.. Well obviously I don't know much about this procedure, not even what it's called, or if it's even a real thing.

Does anyone know? I'd love to get as much information about this as possible..

Thank you very much.

It's not two eggs. They take a stem cell from one of the women's bone marrow and make a "sperm" cell and can impregnate another woman. Yes it is real. No you aren't allowed to tell the femnazis.

They also have the technology for artificial wombs, no need for women anymore either.

They're not allowed to do it yet though because IVF laws restrict it.

Oh, great! Thanks for that! But does anyone know what the procedure is called so that I can look into it more for my partner and myself?

Does this also restrict the procedure I'm looking for?

Yeah, my mother's been praying to this guy for a while now to make me 'realize I'm not gay' and so far, the big guy in the clouds hasn't answered that prayer..

Things aren't looking too good for that.

Anyway, please, more information about this.

Disregarding the female aspect of this, if bone marrow stem cells can be used to create sperm, does this mean that infertility can potentially be eradicated? I'm infertile but would love to be a father someday.

you can always adopt

That's an interesting point to make. If we can get more information about this procedure, you should look into that.

We talked about adoption, yeah, but we decided that it would mean so much more if the child was actually a part of us. We may adopt a second one later.. Who knows.

xDD

Guys, the lulz are appreciated, but I'm seriously trying to look into this, and I'm like.. research-retarded, so I need more help.

I've thought about it, but I would like to have my own children if possible. I don't agree with a lot of aspects of adoption (gather from that what you will).

what

I'm looking, sorry. The only thing I can remember about anything related to this is something that happened in '02-'03 in Europe...I'm pretty sure they successfully created a mouse embryo out of two egg cells. I didn't know this had been applied to humans! Interesting.

Doesn't matter. You're not allowed to do it.

Also, there are some downsides. You can only have a girl with this method. No boys since the male chromosome is missing.

There is no name for it because they haven't really tried it. They have created sperm from female stem cells, but haven't actually gone through with a pregnancy.

You will not be able to do this unless laws change, I am sorry.

Wait, If they only used the genetic material from two women (obviously both XX), then wouldn't there only be a possibility of creating a daughter?

Also, this experiment was done in January 08 iirc. So even if it was allowed and they went through with it you wouldn't see it offered to common folk for a long time.

o.o

Well. That answers that question. Guess she'll have to be happy with me gettin' knocked up with some stranger's stuff then.

I understand you would like a child related to you two, but you can still adopt. There are many children out there who need homes.

ITT: /fit/ is surprisingly helpful and informed?
