Hamster Squats Anonymous
Sup /fit/

I've been lurking here awhile and, after reading "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle" and "Starting Strength" I've decided to adopt a rigorous weight regiment to build muscle.

Only problem is, the area I live in is rather rural and doesn't have any gym to speak of, neither do we have weight equipment. I tried bodyweight stuff for awhile and saw some progress, but I decided it was time to work out with weights.

My family is involved in the domestic animal industry, we raise a lot of things, but right now we have an emphasis on hamsters. We have thousands of the bastards (3,000 currently, they sell for a premium these days). So I constructed a sort barbell by filling a duffel bag with 180 hamsters. The average hamster weighs 4 ounces, so that equals roughly 45lbs, a good point for a beginner.

What does /fit/ think of this? My main concern is that the movement of the hamsters could throw off my balance and hurt me, but other then that it seems to work fine. Deadlifts have been a bit of a problem, it's hard to grip the bag properly, any DIY solutions /fit/ has for an aspiring powerlifter?

What happens when you run out of room in the bag?

Did they all survive?

This seems really cruel. Just do pistol squats.

This is the best thread I've seen in weeks

Seriously though, start doing one-legged squats if body weight is too easy. Use a hand for support if it's too hard at first.
