So /fit/, I recently started losing weight. I went from 175 to 155 over the course of July-Aug-Sept, and am currently at 155. My goal is 135, but here is the issue.

I look NO DIFFERENT from my 175 body. I'm so distressed that I don't even care whether that was grammatically correct. Attached pic is me at 160, but it could be 175 or 155, as I have not changed at all looks-wise.

Should I keep trying or just an hero now?
>> Anonymous
What will get done by becoming an hero?

Take off those shorts and post a pic. If you have a papercut: keep going you're doing great! If you have mudflaps: an hero.

How did you lose the weight? If you don't work out you won't look any better.

trust me, that's the main reason for my distress.

To the other post, I'm a girl.

What are you doing to lose weight? If it's mostly restricting your diet, like cutting calories or skipping meals or even starving yourself, you'll see much less difference than if you were to really exercise and eat right.

I know that is the most typical, annoying advice ever - a healthy diet and exercise - but believe me. It's true. I've been anorexic and bulimic on and off for most of my teenage years and now well into my twenties... went from 173 pounds to under 100 lb (not sure how far, my parents took away the scale at that point). I always had a flabby stomach no matter what, even when my period stopped and I was getting fuzzy and hair was falling out. The problem is that restricting doesn't nourish your body and your body breaks down muscles and essential bodily tissues as well as fat. The more rapidly you lose weight the worse it is. If you yo-yo diet, losing a ton of weight then eating then losing some more weight, you pack on the fat even more.

It's best to start a diet that is about 50% vegetables and fruit (as much fresh as possible) and the rest whole grains, legumes, beans, lean protein, etc. Avoid dairy, you're an adult human mammal, not an infant cow, don't get suckered into that hot mess. Look up propaganda and the dairy industry. You're a human being, you weaned years ago, dairy is pretty much liquid weight-gain supplements that veal calves take to gain hundreds of pounds in the first year of life. Doesn't sound like what you're looking for. Eggs are good, and lean protein (I prefer tofu because I'm a vegetarian but I'm not gonna lie, fish won't hurt you, and some white meat, but skip the artery clogging red meat...)

Honestly this is the key: a high-fiber, high-plant protein diet and exercising 4-5 times a week for about an hour each time (aerobic like elliptical machine and some toning stuff like crunches on a medicine ball).

Losing 10 pounds by eating soundly and exercising will look like 25 because it'll dissolve the layers of fat that usually seem most visible.

good luck.

What's your height? You look fine, 155 is probably a good weight for you. I wouldn't drop to 135 unless you're aiming to be /fit/ rather than just improving what appears to be a body image problem.
>> Anonymous
OP, if that's you in your picture, you're a horrible fattie and you need to lose at least 50 lbs.

Your daily meal plan should be like:
breakfast - one cup of black coffee
lunch - an olive on a cracker
supper - a poached egg white on a leaf of lettuce

you need to do squatz, deadlifts, and eat oatz

OP, why are you weighing yourself when the goal is to look better?
>> Anonymous
>>384843

I didn't "do it wrong." I ate healthily and watched calories. I know it's a lot, but honest to goodness my body was dying to get it off.

I did elliptical and ran (despite my weight I did XC all through highschool). I know I know, muscle, but I really don't want to worry about that until I'm at a weight I can live with.

Also, try being a girl like me and casually walking into the weight room in a gym. YIKES.

Since you think you look the same at 175 and 155, you've got the most important thing down.

As long as you think you're still your original too fat self no matter what you actually weigh or look like, you'll stay motivated to keep losing weight even after you hit your current goal!

.... have you ever been overweight? Shedding lbs = looking better. There are pretty girls who never work out. There are no pretty fat girls.
>> Anonymous
I dunno about other guys, but a bit of chubs is no problem for me. What's not good is girls who are around that weight by eating barely any food, but the only source being complete shit(fast food etc.).

I imagine you're active, eat decent, exercise, that's enough to show you actually care about yourself putting you above 90% of girls already. I think you look fine.
>> Anonymous
look even if youre not noticing results very well, thats no reason to just quit.
that would be foolish as you wouldve worked all these months for nothing
and whats important is if YOU can see the difference.
theres no way you lost that much and you havent noticed it.
i mean for losing just that amount of weight youve already accomplished more than half the people on this board.
it sounds like youre at the stage where you need to lose just a little bit less and youve succeeded.
DONT BE STUPID
keep working out and if you dont lose sufficient weight in a week or so then up the exercise or correct your diet.

its really that easy

Protip: muscle is heavier and easier to lose than fat. If you diet hard, you will lose muscle very quickly, and keep most of your fat on your body, and the numbers on the scale will go down at a satisfying rate, and your body will just get flabbier and nastier and more metabolically dysfunctional.

losing weight =/= looking better

AND IT CERTAINLY DOES NOT CLOG UP YOUR ARTERIES AS THAT FUCKING VEGEFAG SAID.

if you'd rather eat chicken or fish, thats fine. but if you want some fucking steak, you should fucking eat it if it fits into your macros.

> .... have you ever been overweight?
God, no.

> Shedding lbs = looking better.
Your weight has nothing to do with it. The amount of fat has nothing to do with it. The RATIO of FAT to MUSCLE is the only thing that even comes close to counting. And that doesn't even need to be low. What are you trying to do, burn your curves off?

> There are no pretty fat girls.
Sure. Right. THIS IS WHAT WOMEN ACTUALLY BELIEVE, GUYS.

Now listen to me: I'm skinny, so you know I've got no bias for fatties. I'm a guy, so you know my idea of what's pretty is a damn sight more accurate than yours. And while you're nothing special (but nice shirt), the amount of fat you have is not a problem. It's probably helping, though it's hard to judge what a person would look like if they were rail-thin. Just firm it up with some muscle. Really.

bleck! I didn't even notice that ... I blame the horrible setup for taking pictures with my outdated phone. You have to hold it in a ridiculous manner to get a picture straight ahead.

Also- seeing as I am not over or under-consuming meat....

it's hard to see a difference in the mirror, it takes years of practice to objectively observe your own weight and fat levels. if your pants are getting looser you're losing fat.

you need to worry about your muscles WHILE YOU STILL HAVE THEM. i made this mistake dieting down from 250 to 173, fucked over my metabolism and had 11" arms (as a 5'10" male that's ridiculous). if i had lifted just once a week while dieting down i would have been ripped at 185 but instead i was skinny fat at 173. hopefully you won't have to have that facepalm moment yourself to realize the importance of maintaining your muscles.

you look fine btw, no one is going to see you and think OMG FATTY. but i'm all about improving yourself so keep at it
