Male Vegetarians Pedobear
Soup /fit/,

Is it possible to be a male vegetarian without becoming a pussy? I only know one male vegetarian, so I'm going to go ahead and generalise, he is pale, skinny and weak, 24 and looks 15 despite balding. He was however a vegetarian since very young (4 or so), so perhaps vegetarianism is only harmful to males during childhood.

Vegetarian bodybuilders can supplement with whey so np, but vegans are fucked, and they look small as shit compared to their meat-eating counterparts.

I'm not thinking of becoming one, I just want some half-assed arguments with which to annoy my vegetarian colleagues.

a weight trainer / nutritionist told me it's possible, but they have to work harder making sure complete proteins are chosen. otherwise, the proteins don't work. usually you just need to complement foods in pairs, like beans and something, or rice and something.

actually a vegan won the most recent season of "The Ultimate Fighter". i hate vegans in general, but he's probably the exception to vegans i've seen who aren't 100% sickly looking.

Just don't run around telling everyone you're a vegetarian because meat is murder and you'll be fine.

Hey, Tobey McGuire's a vegan and look how buff he was able to get for Spiderman...
I say go for it. Chicks'll think you're sensitive.

Vegetarianism can be just as good for you if it's done RIGHT.
When done wrong it's worse than a standard diet done wrong, though.

I work in a health food store and one of my customers is a vegan body-builder... the guy is JACKED.

It's possible but you'll always be less ripped and more nutrient deficient than on a balanced meat-eating diet.

Your answer is WHEY PROTEIN. (unless you are against milk.)

Hemp protein is good if you don't drink milk.

Eat lots of raw nuts. More protein.

Eat lots of hard boiled eggs. Even more protein.

Lift weights. Bulk up. Fuck chicks.

False. That's a myth.
Any balanced diet can work fine.
The only nutrient that's hard to make up for is vitamin B12.
Everything else is supplemental.

If meat-eating was the only way I'd be screwed. I loved meat, but I have a metabolic disorder that causes my body to consume itself if I consume animal proteins. 75lbs no matter how much I ate was NOT appealing.

When I was all nuts about researching nutrition I kept a list of nutrients beneficial or crucial to human health that you could really only find in meat, but I can't remember most of them now. I'm thinking things like B12 (not hard to make up for, IMPOSSIBLE unless you're eating dairy, popping pills or eating your own shit), carnitine, carnosine, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (a trans fat, surprisingly), long-chain m-3s... a tonfuck more I can't recall but it was enough to convince me that meat isn't a delicious luxury but something a normal person really will suffer for if they don't eat. Of course you could get all this through supplements but then it's not really a healthy diet, it's a shitty diet with supplementation.

Sucks about your animal protein thing, though. Is it like an allergy or some antibody deal, or what? What's it called?

Yeah I still consume dairy (only goat though, cow causes problems too)... and I have to take like 384899393 vitamins, but I'm damn toned and healthy.

I'm not sure what it is, to be honest. They just diagnosed me with a "metabolic disorder" after misdiagnosing me for EDs. I was a gymnast at the time of diagnosis... and a teenage female, so ED was their first route despite them being terribly wrong hah.

I'm not supporting vegetarianism, as a devout omnivore, but I should note that many of the nutrients in that list are either non-essential, or found in many plant sources.

There are lots of vegetarian/vegan bodybuilders. Check out Bill Pearl, he won Mr. Universe twice after becoming a vegetarian. Not saying that's why he did but that it's possible.

You have to work a bit harder than omnivores but basically that's in the kitchen rather than the gym.

Vegetarian doesn't automatically equal healthy because a lot of people just turn to junk food and dairy. Cheese cheese cheese. These are the weaklings and the "skinny fat" types.

Actually, most of the male vegetarians I know are not even recognizably vegfags. I believe it to be possible. However, don't do it.
