So I'm overweight and been walking mostly during the evening. I wanna start running but I feel too self consious, whats do I do?
get a tarp and run fatty.
Run fatty run
Running ain't that great for overweight people. It's brutal on your body for really not dramatically better cardio than you get on an exercise bike or better yet an elliptical machine. If you don't have access to a gym, and can't stand to run in public, I dunno, try walking uphills, you'll get decent exercise.
I'd work your way up gradually to condition yourself to running. If you're self-conscious try and find somewhere secluded or run early/late.
OP here, generally how much weight can be lost with just walking? have also been trying to eat healthier, more veggies eggs and fish etc I also tend to go for late night walks just so I can walk in peace. Usually walk for an hour to an hour and a half each night. Should I be out walking longer?
the problem with overweight people and running is two-fold actually: overstressing the joints and also the legs usually rub together causing irritation and a hate for running due to that fact alone. So, what can fat people do, while improving diet? Just about everything that doesn't involve such heavy impact to the joints; say rowing, swimming, walking, flying, etc.
>>316477>rowing, swimming, walking, flying, etc.>swimming, walking, flying, etc.>walking, flying, etc.>flying, etc.flying?
>>316489get to it fatty
If you wanna look at it this way:depending on how fat you are, but let say3 MONTHS OF SUFFERING, OF PEOPLE WATCHING YOU PROGRESS, WATCHING YOU TRANSFORM, BUT WHEN ITS OVER, YOULL KNOW IT WAS WORTH IT, NOW RUN LARDASS, RUN!!
>>316509Am 201lbs and 5'6. I honestly thought I'd never get down to this weight when I used to weigh 247lbs and I gradually lost the weight when I moved away from home and stopped being over fed by my mom. I'm 23 years old and figure its bout time I get this shit under control.
>>316475To lose weight efficiently you just need to increase activity and decrease your cal intake slightly.Walking will work, but takes longer to equal the distance you'd do running.
Tabata works wonders, im on my seconds day and in deep hell of pain
ok well listen you have to lift weights now and run at the same time why because if you just run and eat healthy you will lose muscle mass....when you gain weight you also gain muscle mass...when you lose fat you will lose muscle mass if you are not working out.....so do both...lots of fiber 30 grams a day plus lots of protein you need 160 grams of it...fish, chicken...i recommend you begin to enjoy hot sauce....also don't cut fat out of your diet completely it will cause your test levels to go way down which means you will lose muscle mass making it harder to lose weight....but most of all just go do it...you will get all the parts together in time....starting is the battle...I personally feel you should jog not walk....wrap yourself in saran wrap if you don't like the jiggling or wear a tight t-shirt with a loose one over it...i know you can do this...I did i was 230 when i was 17(a spike the most i ever was) 6' which doesn't sound horrible but i have very skinny bone structure and was horrible...but soon afterwords i lost around 100 pounds and have kept it off for 10 years...in the last 3 i have become very physically fit and I love it....its so satisfying to see all the skinny people from high school and college and such be fatter and weaker than me for once. You can do it I know you can.
>>316655So sick of reading this response. If it were that easy, everyone would be doing it, trust me. To drop a "reasonable" number of calories per day is a slow, torturous way to get results. I could just see the cheer as someone lost a pound a month. In only 6 years, I too can join the ranks of the healthy!!
>>316662exactly run....increase your O2.....run a lot....eat healthy 4 times a day(keep your metabolism running this is one of the hardest parts for an overweight person.....it just seems contrary to sense but it works eating more makes you lose more weight....when done correctly) work those muscles every other day....Cheat meals on the weekends(they are important and will make you lose more weight) Once you get there if done correctly you will never have to look back.
NUTHING BUT A PEENUT
>>316662That's the simple fact of it and I never said it was easy. It just takes consistent commitment. You can still eat good tasting food, but it must be portion controlled and balanced. And activity should be varied in order to keep it interesting. I lift weights and run all the time, but I also box, dance and explore by bike.>If it were that easy, everyone would be doing it, trust meLOL What a cop-out. You're already beaten. If it takes you 6 years to get results then you must be so fat that I don't see how you could even exercise anyway.
>>316655I've cut down my calorie intake over the last two weeks, and I've dropped a kilo both weeks.
OP here again, no it hasn't taken me 6 years to lose some weight, that was some other dude who sounds like he's already self defeated.First off I'm a chick so I don't care too much about muscle mass just want to be skinny. I unfortunatly carry most of my weight in my mid section and ass. When I lose the weight my ass still stays the same size so its like x box huge and even when I go out for walks or just anywhere I'm always stared at so going to a gym just isn't in the cards. Guess I'll stop being a pussy and just try to go jogging in the evening
>>316735Do what I do, I'm a fatty, so I jog at 5-6am.
>>316735Yeah, just keep active and gradually tone down your eating so your metabolism doesn't get screwed up.If you become skinny and still have an ass, post pics.
>>316748Exactly, that's when I run.You can also try hiking, even trail running. Less people, less chance to feel embarrassed.
>>316475I lost 50lbs in 5 months from walking 5 miles every morning with only slight diet modification.Get an iPod and the Nike+ ipod attachment to track your progress.
