How many calories do you intake in a day? I'm willing to guess you aren't eating as much as you think you are. At 6'1", even with quickest metabolism known, if you ate 2,500 you would have to gain weight from 120lbs.

I know, I know ;p I'm doing 1hr Cardio, 1hr HIIT a day and I'm on a strict diet, I used to be 320 and I'll be 200 by october.

I never put the weight on from how I eat; I literally sat on my ass for 3 years wowfagging it up, and I burned less calories than a slug or some shit, basically even if I did eat healthy (I didn't, I eat like 2k cals of junk) I'd still of put on the weight from being so lethargic

Good for you, seriously. That takes a lot of hard work. However, there's only so much cardio can do for you before you have to start a lifting routine. Preferably one that includes compound lifts like the squat, bench press, standing press, etc. To not only "fill in" your frame, but to also leave you with a progressively higher resting metabolic rate as you add on more lean tissue, which will in turn help you get rid of the fat more quickly.

As far HIIT goes, you need to be doing it less frequently. Think of it as weightlifting - it's anaerobic in nature. There's no way you should be able to HIIT properly several days in row without over-training, and consequently losing lean mass (among other bad things) over a long period of time. You should probably only do HIIT (in place of cardio) like twice a week on your between your lifting, if at all.

last time I had it checked my fat% was 22%. But my weight is average for my lenght. (your lenghts in cm, - 100 = your recommended weight for your age)
So im following a training schedule thats a mix of fitness and cardio, so it will replace my fat with muscle while not losing or gaining weight in the process. Ive been doing it for 4 months, seems I only gained weight but my belly is slimming down so thats a good result.

oops, sorry I misworded that.

I'm doing 1hr of Cardio (which includes HIIT) and 1hr of weights a day.

I do 3 days of running (45m in the morning, 30 jogging/walking to get warmed up, 15m of pure HIIT and 15mins before I sleep at night of Burpees or cycling)

and 3 days of upper body cardio (my legs are usually too sore otherwise) which consists mainly of boxing, I haven't really found any good upper-body cardio training besides going all out on a punchbag

the 1hr of weights I do is uhh, 30mins of Situps/Crunches, 15mins of dumbells and 15mins on the barbell trying to bench as much as I can lift.

Does this sound right, or?

You should understand that cardio is cardio is cardio. There's no such thing as upperbody cardio. Cardio refers to your cardiovascular system, or your heart. The object is to increase and maintain an elevated heart rate. Think of your heart as a muscle; your just training it.

Disregard ego's template. Just like cardio is cardio, so is weightlifting. A good routine for novices (under two years of training) is a starting strength routine:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

This may seem daunting to a beginner but it's the perfect, and proper, program for someone like you (even if you're trying to lose fat).

>> Anonymous
>>7735
Ahh, ok. I assume it's to avoid high-impact (knees) excercises. In that case, cool.

But seriously look into (read and fully understand) a proper strength training program like the one I posted. It's leaps and bounds better than whatever it is you're doing now, and it will do so much more than just make you strong (which is a pretty good benefit in of itself).

BMI doesn't account for muscle, only weight verse height. Arnold Schwarzenegger has always been obese according to that, and Jay Cutler is on the verge of death, if you listen to BMI.

Body fat percentage is the only really accurate indicated of 'healthy weight' but its hard to determine without the right tools and knowing how to use them. A tape measure can get you close, though. Look up "calculate body fat" or "military tape measure for body fat" and you'll find a guide on how to do it.
