/fit/

With WWIII coming around the corner I decided to get my ass inline finally so i can make a non front line infantry MOS if i have to fight Russia.

I'm 5'7" Small frame. 6.75" around wrists. Thin right now at 120 lbs, lost 15 from being sick and injured.

What weight would I need to be to get a EOD, or Recon position in the marines Navy? 145-155 is what I'm guessing for my height, with it all being muscle and being fit. I know there are no weight reqs beyond being too fat, but you need a certain amount of muscle to get through the shit im guessing.

Should I start running now too or wait until i gain? Im a very slow gainer. Same question for swimming.

Bulk bulk bulk. Then once you've bulked enough, cut.

Not talking about cutting, talking about building cardiovascular endurance. Will running/swimming vigorously a few times a week kill my gains if i drink an extra 500 calorie protein shake after still?

you don't need to get heavier. they actually want people who are as strong and light as possible for combat jobs. try to get the best possible asvab, dlab or dlpt, and fitness test scores. who knows, you could be spec op material.

So long as you can still ruck a 60 pound pack all day and night.
>>265002
If you want to do anything interesting in the Navy/Marine Corps you better fucking know how to swim.

Can you even join the Navy without knowing how to swim? I thought it was a requirement.

Surprisingly, it's actually NOT a requirement.

They teach you how to swim correctly. . .then the next day they hog tie you and toss you into the deep end and tell you to tread water for an hour

This question is retarded. Learn to swim, not just laps but survival swimming. To be in specialized units you need be in some kind of condition. They want people who have stamina, not body builders. Start running on the beach.

To join Navy EOD, and you had best want to, you need to pass this physical test.

Swim (sidestroke or breaststroke) 500yrd in less than 14:00
42 pushups in 2mins
42 situps in 2mins
6 pullups
Run 1.5miles in less than 13:30

Navy EOD have the biggest sign on bonus, you can enlist directly into that MOS, and they have the best training and equipment. Navy has alot of money. Navy EOD are trained in CQB, small group tactics, fast roping ect and so they send 2 man teams to attach to Navy SEAL platoons, Army SOF, Delta Force, basically every SF group.

Start running and swimming now. Most of all start EATING, you need to SHOVEL THAT SHIT DOWN. Eat every two and a half hours like clockwork. Run and do calisthenics; thats what the military will do to you, so that what you should do to yourself. AND EAT!

The hard part of any kind of spec ops group is the mental endurance. Do some google searches on the groups you are talking about and see if it is something that you really want to do.

Thats a fucking joke

I'd do a shitload of endurance training, but after putting on some serious strength and muscle. Not like a bodybuilder, but something along the lines of Starting Strength 3x5 program or the Stronglifts 5x5. You get stronger but with useful muscle. Pick one of those programs and do it for 3-4 months, all while doing some moderate cardio and calisthetics. Then, switch over to military-style endurance training, with some heavy lifting at least once a week. Rucking with heavy weight shouldn't be a problem if you're used to having a much greater load on your back.

Recon or Force Recon? I'm guessing you basically want to be billy badass. 7502 usmc here, you need to fucking bulk. Infantry, you're gonna be carrying a lot of gear, and the heavier you are the easier time you'll have of it. Granted, the PFT is such that it's geared for the lighter motherfuckers to be better at it (obviously it's easier for 120 lbs soaking wet to run <18 min 3 mi than someone who's 205, same with pullups, etc.), but the CFT is getting worked on pretty heavily, it'll be put into action soon.

Basically you wanna bulk bulk bulk. you're not going to be buff bronze and bitchin, you got a small frame, but you can still be a loud and vicious animal.

to answer your question, they'll teach you all you need to know for swimming at SOI or wherever the fuck you're going to go. I suggest lifting 3-4 days a week, eating a fuckton, and running heavy twice a week, stepping up your running regimen about 3 months prior to any sort of basic. If you're going enlisted, seriously DON'T FUCKING WORRY ABOUT PHYSICAL FITNESS. Unless you're a Pile, you're actually going to be in worse shape OUT of boot than you were going in. The same cannot be said of officer training however, which necessitates the question: officer or enlisted. This will change the requisite training program.

>going to be in worse shape OUT of boot than you were going in

Why is this?
