Hey there /fit/! /g/-man here and wanting a bit of help!

Im a 19 year old, 6', 150lbs guy. Ive never been in shape and am looking to change that and get into a nice routine before its too late!

Seeing as Im a /g/-man, I have NO idea where to start.. I would prefer to start out doing things at home and with as little equipment as possible until I can afford to spent some money on a gym membership(College textbooks = no money in wallet)

Anyways, I am not looking to bulk up to massive levels.. just convert some of the body fat into muscle instead and give myself a more healthy body

So, mind sharing some pointers on where to start? Should I start with something cardio-like running? or should I do situps or what? ><

Sorry, clueless anon is clueless..

I appreciate the info /fit/!

as per the>>307891website,

>Eat Whole Foods. Supplements make your life >easier, but whole food is better. Eat proteins, >veggies & fruits with each meal. Carbs for >energy. Plenty of water. Eat every 3 hours >starting at breakfast.

How important is something like this? I have no problems converting to whole foods.. but, with my work and school schedule, I just dont get the chance to eat that often - I generally have to skip breakfast, eat a big lunch and a late dinner ><

Do I need to find a way to schedule to eat in a healthier way for a "get into shape" routine? or is that only for the muscle/body builder types?

if you don't eat healthy or often, you wont see quick gains and the gains you do see will be minimal.

get a bag and fill it up with sand/dirt/cement/etc. Get it to be about 60lbs to start out with. Or get a lot of bags and fill them with different weights so you have a variety to work with. Workout with the sandbags. Cheap as fuck and effective.

And, thanks for the info there too - I suppose I will try to reorganize my day some and see if I cant get some healthier eating habbits in -- Any quick snacks you can recommend? Are the powerbar snack things anything to consider or are they bullshit marketing? Or would I be better off grabbing an apple or banana and keeping it in a cooler for a snack?

naw dude...I just got some polyester bag, duct taped the zipper and bam, works perfectly. or you can buy special bags designed for this kind of stuff but those are really expensive. something over $100. so yeah, just find a medium sized bag and duct tape it. And if you want to be more secure, put it in one of those big plastic bags.

no go on the powerbars. most of them are sugar loaded and not too healthy for you. I'm sure there are some that are good, but it might be best to ignore them. Look into meal replacements like Myoplex and Met-Rx. Prepare your meals the day before so you don't have to worry. Fruits are good but don't eat too much of them due to their high sugar content.
