Hey /fit/. Quick question: I came here a few weeks ago to get some feedback on my diet/exercise plan. After taking your input into account, I've put my plan into action and have been going strong for almost 3 weeks now.

My only concern is that I've been losing around 5 lbs per week, and have been told multiple times that 1-2 lbs per week is what is both optimal and healthy. Am I losing a good deal of weight weekly because I'm so heavy at the moment (6'2, 315 lbs), or should I tone down my calorie cutting/exercise?

tl;dr - Is a 5 lbs/week weight loss too much and/or unhealthy, or is it normal because I'm a fatty at the moment?

Also, pic unrelated.

Might be water weight.

I know once I cut out all the sodium form my shit diet, water weight came off like my pants at a daycare.

Good point, I didn't think of that really. While my salt intake is still somewhat high, it is most definitely below the RDA and certainly much less than I was consuming pre-life change.

Could be because of your weight, and could also be water loss.

Alrighty...as long as I'm not going to drop dead or something. Thanks /fit/ for the motivation, advice, and occasional help like this =D

You go girl! Water weight at first, so don't worry. Enjoy the losses while they come this easy. Don't be a slave to the scale, however. Stick to your plan, enjoy your looser clothes, and NEVAR give up!

When you are heavier your muscles need to work harder to move your body. At that size it is not unheard of to lose quickly for 4-5 weeks. When you hit the wall of weight loss do not give up!

Also, you have to consider that if you're really hueg, your BMR could well be like 5000 or 6000. Considering that it's actually really hard to eat 4000 calories, the slightest dietary cutback might mean you'd be eating way way way below your maintenance, which means rapid weight loss. As you lose weight, your BMR drops, and you settle into a nice 1000 calorie deficit.

When I first started this whole thing, I did a little research and my BMR was like 5,000. In retrospect, its pretty amazing how much shit I ate on the daily.

Now I'm down to a comfortable 2,000 calorie/day diet with daily 60 minute walks. Thanks again /fit/, you guys have been a pretty huge help with all this.

Yep, if you're on a 3000 cal deficit you will lose about 5-6 pounds a week, until your BMR goes down.
