Question about when working on your abs. Is it recommended to use different types of exercises in your routine only because it will increase the speed on which your abs develope?

I figured I would keep a simple and straight routine of just four sets of crunches (where you elevate your legs) with a set amount of reps. I don't care how long it will take to get really toned as long as it works. 5-7 times a week? I don't know... I need help here.
