Two Problems FC !LUoN15AFLU
Hi /fit/. First time posting here, but I've read through most of this first, so hopefully I'm not posting anything too repetitive. And sorry if this is "camwhoring". I have two problems.

1) This is me. I've been putting on a lot of weight around my stomach and upper thighs. It's been bothering me recently, especially since people've started making "fatty" comments. So it's time to do something. I'd mainly love to lose the flab on my belly -- it might be nice to have a waist again! I'm going to start exercising and eating more meals a day, cutting carbs, eating more protein, etc. This is the right thing to do, correct? But what exercising can I do that target that specific area? Crunches, obviously, but is there anything else?

2) I have a fairly severe heart problem. Mitro valve prolapse, it basically means that it only takes the tiniest bit of adrenaline or caffeine to make my heart race and go into weird palpitations. So extensive cardio exercise is out of the question for me. It won't kill me, it's just extremely uncomfortable. ... but what other options ARE there?

Also, would it be totally unreasonable to try and lose it all by the beginning of June?

Again, sorry if this is stuff you see all the time. I figured this was the place to ask!

Just in case this isn't a troll...

You can't target areas for weight loss.
>> FC !LUoN15AFLU

Not a troll, I'm afraid. Just completely and totally ignorant when it comes to weight loss, because I've never really tried to until lately. All I know is the little bit I've read scrolling through here the past couple of days, and "general" stuff. Complete weight loss retard. So thanks, I appreciate ANY help I can get.

o_O; >>But what exercising can I do that target that specific area? Crunches, obviously, but is there anything else?

no, nothing. You can't spot reduce (as in remove fat through exercise on specific parts of your body). THATS JUST NOT HOW IT WORKS.

You can walk 3-4km a day- run for whatever period of time you feel comfortable then slow down back to a walk, and eat lots of vegetables, cut out soda and sugar. You'll be slim and sexy by June. Also do something about your flat butt lulz

Okay, awesome, thank you for putting up with my being a totally dummy. :/ I can run a grand total of like two minutes before I start getting chest pains and get super tired because my heart is going so fast. But I could probably power-walk, I was just wondering what other options there were aside from hard-core cardio.

As for the ass issue, if I can't work on specific spot, I can't imagine I can lose weight and gain ghetto booty at the same time. Haha. But I'll see what I can do!

you can spot build muscle ;)

Had to make sure. If you're going to be serious about it, work on jogging farther rather than running faster. Keeping your heart rate up and stable longer will do more than bursts.

If you HAVE to drink sodas, drink a glass of water for every one you do.
>> FC !LUoN15AFLU
>>53592
Can't drink sodas anymore. I cut them completely out of my diet after finding out about the heart problem, and now I think they taste gross. (The sodas were actually sending my resting heart rate up to ~130-140 when I was just sitting still, which is how I found out about the heart business. So no more for me.)

And I'll see what I can do on the jogging. Thanks, anon.
>> Anonymous
Don't think of jogging as anything fast. It just gets your entire body more worked than a walking.

Wait... you know what you heart problem is right? So that means you saw a doctor about it. Why the fuck didn't you ask their reccommendation instead of asking a bunch of unqualified randoms off the fucking internet?!

In saying that, low impact exercise and a healthy diet seems like your only choice.

Uhhh... Hate to break it to you, but you're not fat.

But if you can't do tough cardio i'd suggest go out for walks 4-5 times a week for a minimum of 30 mins. That and cut out the bad food which you seem to know already.

So what do you reccomend for somebody who is lacking in the ass department?

If you're OP, your ass seems fine.

well squats will make your legs less flabby and more hawt aswell as building a nice bum- so thats my first choice (squats with a barbell on your back work your bum, the barbell on your chest works your abs)

however step ups (you basically stand up on a bench, jump down stand up on it again)
and walking lunges are great too.

these three things and a clean diet built jessica biels amazing ass.

Because I found out about the heart problem two years ago, when I wasn't really in need of losing any weight! I also called and asked him recently, and the conversation was something along the lines of:
Me: I want to exercise.
Dr: Cool. Do it.
Me: What kind of exercise can I do with my heart?
Dr: Oh yeah, you have a heart problem. Uh, idk, just don't work too heart?
Me: Wow. Thanks. That was amazingly helpful and solved all of my problems.

Thanks for the advice, though. Haha.

Thanks to you as well. (Ps, I don't think I'm fat, I think I -have- some fat though. It's other people that have been calling me a fatty lately, and it happens too much to be "playing around". Thus the "fatty" filename.)

Reposted for grammar failure.

Walk when you wake u, before you eat breakfast. Try walking for a hour, that will start up your metabolism. When you get home do crunches, aim for around 50 the first time, then build it up to 70, 90, 100. Also there is a exercise, dont know the name, but lay down on your back, legs pointing to the ceiling and your hands around your butt. Now try pushing up your butt, work with your abs and not with the hands or legs, this build your lowest ab muscles, you will probably feel this one pretty fast.

If you want mix in some push-ups too, since muscle training eats fat pretty fast.

To avoid straining your heart, you can focus on low rep, high resistance strength training like 5-8 reps of squats, increasing weight when you get to 8 reps. Another way to not strain your heart is focusing on more isolated exercises such as one-hand-at-a-time bicep curls. Since the more muscle you use when exercising the more blood needs to be pumped, if you isolate and do low reps you can keep your heart in a more comfortable zone.

This isn't as efficient for weight loss as just all out cardio, but the muscle you build will burn energy on its own, making it easier to lose weight and reducing the chance of a rebound in weight.

have you considered having your valve repaired?

>

* Valve repair. Mitral valve repair is a surgery to preserve your own valve. Your mitral valve consists of two triangular-shaped flaps of tissue called leaflets. The leaflets of the mitral valve connect to the heart muscle through a ring called the annulus. The surgeon can modify the original valve (valvuloplasty) to eliminate backward blood flow. Surgeons can repair the valve by reconnecting valve leaflets or by removing excess valve tissue so that the leaflets can close tightly. Sometimes repairing the valve includes tightening or replacing the ring around the valve (annulus). This is called an annuloplasty.

there is no c option.

I have. I don't have the money to do it anytime soon, and it's considered "optional surgery" by our insurance since it's not something I NEED to get done. Sux, but. :/ Thanks.

that sucks
good luck with your exercise and with your heart

You could always diet (reasonably) without exercise and see what happens. If your body is nice to you, it might burn the fat off your stomach first.
Also, are you sure your stomach isn't just bloated? The rest of you looks pretty thin, so it might be something you are allergic to.
>> Anonymous
>>53617
who the fuck is calling you fat? anyway, you don't NEED cardio to lose weight. you can cut calories and lift weights (more muscle mass, more calories burned) don't be afraid to lift heavy, but it can easily get your heart going pretty hard so keep that in mind (i know someone else mentioned it being easier on your heart than higher reps lower weight and i don't think thats true). squats & lunges with weights in hand would be great for building leg muscles. for stomach, fuck normal crunches and sit-ups they do almost nothing. try hanging crunches, a handful of these will make your abs more sore then 10 times as many sit-ups.

honestly, I lost 60 lbs in 3 months and I didn't go by any sort of "diet" I used common sense. look at what you're eating and think about how healthy it is. i normally end up eating tuna on wheat bread with tomato, no mayo or cheese, salad no dressing (i just don't like any dressing), steamed vegtables, 1% milk and LOTS of water at least a gallon a day not counting water with meals. that was usually lunch and dinner, if i actually ate breakfast it was just corn flakes and 1% milk and maybe some orange juice. i also had protein powder and fruit between meals.

finally, you're not fat. There is nothing wrong with wanting to improve yourself but don't do it for the wrong reasons. you need to really want it for yourself.

Though cardio speeds things up you don't need to do really hard core HIIT to lose weight. If you can handle a brisk walk that will work if it's done for about 45 minutes or so.

Diet also has more of an impact. Google "Time Carb Diet." If you can stick to it you should lose quite a bit of fat.
>> Anonymous
Retard, you're not fat at all.
>> Anonymous
actually if you workout your legs and arms more you should be fine as i really think its just a matter of proportion and not fat!

I don't think you're fat, actually your BF (bodyfat) should be really low looking at your pic.

>>53574
If that's you in the pic, you aren't fat by any means? Who is calling you fat? Your eating disordered friends?

If it was a phone call he might not have had your charts in front of him. Don't listen to us if you really have a heart problem, seriously. If your doctor really is an idiot then just see a different one.
