I'd say the Chuck's high-top ankle support that makes it uncomfortable instead of the flat sole. A lot of pro runners are switching over to barefeet and flat sole running because it's better for the knees. It forces you to run with a different gait, instead of shod running/heel-to-toe, barefeet running forces your gait into a mid-foot strike, which reduces damage on the knees.
