That's not a cold sore, idiot. It's a canker sore/mouth ulcer. Google treatments.

So i dont have a cold sore? i have a canker sore? how do you tell the difference?:P

Wow, there's some ignorance here.>>127368and those after him are from this planet, the others before him I can't be sure about.

Yes, it's an ulcer. You can tell because its on the inside. A cold sore presents on the outside of the lip. And for>>127366: A cold sore (which that isn't) is caused by the Herpes Simplex virus, so you fail twice.

There are various treatments available. Personally I enjoy the kind of pain you get by rubbing salt in it, though this is counterintuitively beneficial, it's probably more in your best interests to get a topical (you put it on the affected area) gel, such as Bonjela (rubbish - I'm sure it makes matters worse), or a paraffin wax based ooze such as.. oh god, what is it.. Ah, "Adcortyl in Orabase", which is basically a corticosteroid in a paraffin wax base - a tiny dab of this seals the ulcer to allow it to heal. It's pretty cheap and it works like a charm. Doesn't require a prescription here (uk), nor in the US afaik.

Hope you sort it out soon.

Tried throwing some salt on it (never thought i could drool so much in my life) and then gargled some hot salt water, thanks for the help, especially for>>127391finally someone clearing everything up, AND for telling me i dont have herpes:P

i had one a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be bothered to get anything from the pharmacy so i kept a shot glass of whiskey nearby and just kept rubbing some in, the next day it was still there but the pain had subsided. The day after that it wasn't a problem and was healing up nicely.

vodka, gin anything with about 40% or more alcohol, all you need is a tiny drop at a time

I use to get them all the time, take 4 vit c + zinc tablets a day for 3-4 days and it will heal. This won't get rid of the pain though, gargle salt water like everyone has said.
>> Anonymous
put some salt on that fucker
>> Anonymous
push it onto your teeth and pop it

Get some more sleep, cankers typically happen in response to stress.

its an infection, i have these once in a while, they hurt everytime i touch, lick, and eat food with it. rinse in warm salt water. For some reason, when i gargle in listerine, it gives me a temporary relief from the pain. i never knew these infections could last over a week since the most i lived with it is no over beyond 5 days

uhm.. that IS a form of herpes. duh.
>> Anonymous
It's called a mucocele.
>> Anonymous
That looks like a mouth ulcer, not a cold sore.
Get Bonjella.
>> Anonymous
Just saw someone said Bonjella or Bonjela doesn't work.
Bullshit. Once I had an injury and had at least three at the top of my mouth. It hurt to talk, let alone eat. Using that stuff at the very least gave pain relief.
>> Anonymous
get some kanka, it'll keep your mind off of it.

salt!

drool...

then pain go....

That.

Substitute with sugar if you're a bitch.
>> Kanader
That's not herpes. Google will show you the difference.

Get Anbesol (or whatever you give a baby for toothaches) and put it on there to numb it. Avoid salt and drink more water. It's just a canker.

If you are in Norway you could go and ask a pharmacist for something called Metyrosaline. It isn't available in the US but it is in Finland, so they could have it in Norway as well. It not stuff you will find on the shelf. You'll probably need to ask for it. Its a purple liquid that you dab on the thing and it dries the mucus membrane and the sore along with it. This is why salt kinda works.

I used to have those (not for a few years now). They usually appear when your immune system is somehow compromised (when you're sick or under stress), and along with cuts in the mouth, so it's important to start getting more vitamin C if you're experiencing them often. To prevent them, keep any cuts in your mouth clean with mouthwash. The ones that do not form on cuts start out as small pockets of liquid (from the infectious attack). At this point they still do not hurt, and can be popped, possibly preventing the formation of a full sore. Once they hurt they can no longer be popped, so save your self some pain and don't try.
