Ok /fit/, I'm a bit scared. I used to have a really high heart rate, but since I've lost 50 lb, I checked it today at the super market, and it was like 42-48 beats per minute. What the hell? I told my mother, and she's a bit worried as well. I'm at her place right now, and I used her old one, and it was at like 40 beats per minute. This can't be good, can it?

keep it up champ!!

Keep losing weight and aim for about 10 beats per minute. Thats a real champ.

Wouldn't you think a drop in heart rate would be a good sign? and how do you feel, aside from worried?

I feel fine... But isn't 40 beats per minute too low?

Those with down syndrome often suffer from heart trouble, so you should have expected this.

try beating your chest with a hammer, 3-4 sets of 8 reps each side.

get it down to like 6 bpm and you can fool people into thinking you're dead.

my dad is a healthy 59 yrs old and his resting heart rate is 44 but the guy is super fit so idk.

Low heart rate is good overall, don't worry about it. Too bad it means a slower resting metabolism.

op that's normal. quit worrying.

OP IT'S NOT ABNORMAL FOR ELITE ATHLETES TO HAVE A RESTING HEART RATE IN THE 40-50 BPM RANGE, HOWEVER I THINK YOU SHOULD MEASURE IT BY HAND (INDEX AND MIDDLE FINGER PRESSED BELOW BASE OF THUMB ON OPPOSITE HAND) BECAUSE THE MACHINES YOU'RE USING MAY BE MISSING BEATS FOR WHATEVER REASON (PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU'RE WEARING A SHIRT).

Ok, I'm not actually sure if this is bad or good.

having a low heart rate means your heart doesnt have to work as hard to pump blood through your body.
