People need to stop thinking inside one particular style. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. Boxing has good stances, you can react better. Problem with boxing is kicking. legs are longer than arms. Asian martial arts are problematic. They have many useful concepts that, when applied correctly, are devastating. However, unless you are willing to put in time and effort to actually master it, it'll serve you best as a parlor trick. Not only that, but even though you are able to learn from licensed professionals in the Western world, you're getting a more watered down form than its source. Also, avoid Tae Kwon Do like the plague.
But if I absolutely had to choose one style only, I'd stick with Muay Thai.
If it were up to me, I'd mix it with Jiu Jitsu, Judo (Fuck BJJ, they're just judo practitioners in denial.), or Sanshou.
