What time do you guys drink your shakes? I have one after working out and one before I go to bed.

yeah, i'm the same way. i workout really late at night and drink a shake afterwards. i usually take a shower and wait about an hour after i drank my shake before i head to bed.

if your shakes are whey, then right before bed might not be such a good idea. Whey is absorbed extremely quickly, and are therefore more ideal for prepost workout or in the morning when your body is starved for protein. In the evening some more slow digested stuff like protein from meant, dairy or anything like that would be far better.

Me personally, I don't take it every day, normally only after the hardest workouts and before depending on what else I have eaten.

The sooner you get a shake after working out, the better. Your muscles will start repairing themselves right away.

Wait an hour or two before going to bed if you drink a shake at night, so it can get digested and into your system

Exercise actually raises your body temperature for eight hours or so after you've finished, which induces deeper and quicker stage-3 sleep. So it's a good idea after all.

only if you drink the "weight gainer" type of shakes. regular protein shakes usually have low calories so they shouldn't make you fat even with a sedentary life style. as an added bonus, it burns more calories to digest protein than carbs or fats so it might end up helping weightloss.

try a weight gainer if you wanna gain weight. they have tons of carbs and calories that'll help you get to that goal.
