Lets talk acne. It's a problem I've been plagued with ever since I was a little kid. I work out regularly, wash properly, and I don't throw grease at my face. I've tried a number of different things but none of them have truly worked, sometimes because it was just a treatment that didn't work for me chemically or because it is such a hassle to use daily.

Tell me what acne problems you had and what worked for you. Lets see if this proactiv stuff can do the trick.

How's your diet?

I'm using this cream, it seems to make the redness go away but the bumps still remain, and also I'm seeing pimples showing up in places they wouldn't normally be.

Accutane my friend, accutane.

Btw I say this with bias, but good bias. Been on it for around half a month and my mild/severe acne is already almost completely gone except for a few.

Overall it's not the healthiest but I don't go overboard on anything. I have a can of mountain dew every day and that's probably the most unhealthy thing I have.

go on the atkins diet for one or two months and your acne will be greatly reduced or gone completely

I had HORRIBLE acne from 6th grade to 12th. I always looked at other girls and they had perfect skin... I always washed my face twice a day, and I never was the type to eat greasy foods or whatever. I tried proactiv as well, and it helped the really horrible break outs, but didn't solve all the acne problems.

However, first year of college I decided to try Murad. Years before, I had a pretty bad experience with the face wash, as it was too strong for my skin and ended up drying out my face so that I was shedding skin all the time. Second time I tried it, it worked like a miracle... The kit (face wash, gel, lotion and acne spot treatment) seems relatively expensive at first ($60 maybe?) but it's lasted me eight months so far and it's not even 1/4 of the way through it.

Since it's really strong though, you might want to only use the face wash every few days so you don't get too dry.

I always find these acne threads amusing, as acne is about the ONLY skin problem I don't have. Dandruff, eczema, athletes foot, frequent hives rashes and occasional boils, plus a little under 400 moles (many of which are currently suspect for cancer) are among some of the skin maladies I suffer from. I cant imagine acne being much fun either, but trust me, it can be a lot worse.

"Dip method"

1. fill a basin or something similar with hot water (not so hot its going to melt your face, but still nice and hot)

2. stick face in and soak 3-6 minutes

3. repeat 1-3 times per day

For YEARS I smeared my face with various chemicals and cleaners, and nothing ever worked. I had horrible acne. Then I came across the dip method, and in the first month I was seeing results. Its been a bit over a year now since I started, and my acne is basically gone. It might not work for everyone, but it sure as hell worked for me.

Our faces weren't meant to be smeared with harsh chemicals day in and out.

Over a year? And it's not gone completely yet? That just sounds like coincidence my friend. Your acne is probably just going away on its own.

You sure you know what you're asking for? I don't currently have any more boils, and my eczema, while present, isn't currently inflamed. Still got a mean case of athletes foot though, and my hundreds of moles aren't going anywhere (not under my current medical coverage at any rate <grumble>).

On a side note, if a chick told you that you were a big hunk of handsome wrapped in a layer of ugly, would you take it as a compliment or an insult?

There is nothing special in proactiv. its just benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid cleansers, stuff you can find in the dollar stores.
Diet is 99% of bad skin. Hydrogenated oil, caffeine, monosodium glutamate, and corn syrup are the biggies. Avoid those and your skin will magically get better, even if you have chronic problems like acne rosacea.
