sup /fit/ been a while.

Anyways, as this is called Health & Fitness, I have a health thread to propose.

What health problems do you have, if any?

Pic unrelated, but it's the second picture found on google images with the keyword "sickness".

Anyways, I'll start.

I have Hypogamma-globulinemia
Basically, it's a lack of proteins within the blood, and thus the immune system.

I get sick probably every 2 weeks on average. Eye infections, ear infections, sinus infections, lung issues.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Same. Type one or two? I've got the first one.

I only have hayfever/allergies with slight asthma (hoping it will never get worse; never had a full blown serious attack).

I have it pretty good.

FFF forgot. Asthma/allergies here as well.
Allergic to any animal that has fur pretty much. Even when my own hair gets long enough to touch or be near my eyes, i get infections.

Poor eyesight, monocular vision. Floaters, visual snow. Possibility of glaucoma. Possibility of osteoarthritis and hearing loss in the future.

Underdeveloped facial features (when I was 18 I got carded for a PG-13 film). These are getting better nao though.

eyesight is my main problem. shitsux

I have no underlying health problems whatsoever, if I'm unlucky I might need glasses later on in life... and I had to wear braces. That's all.

I started losing hair in the front at an unreasonably young age. I feel like I'm dying because I'm losing a prime indicator of youth and I haven't even started college yet. I think men with shaved heads look like giant penises, so I comb forward and avoid the public for the most part. other than that I'm perfectly healthy and normal. Advice, motherfucker. Do you have it?
>> Anonymous
>>323509

You're going bald at a young age. Chillax. It could be worse. You could look like Michael Jackson.
>> Anonymous
>>323500
Glad I don't have it that bad. Mine have tamed down with age (thank god). Just being around hay used to make my eyes swell horribly.

I guess I also have an astigmatism in my eye. Computer use is making it consistently worse, or I probably could have avoided glasses until I was much older.

Vision. My eyesight prescription for my contacts is at 5.0

Supposedly, this is 5 points negatively from having 20/20 vision. Whatever that means.
>> Anonymous
>>323513
thank god I really don't look like michael jackson or I probably would have killed myself after reading that.
Otherwise, that's a bit comforting at least.

wimmenz, do you thing shaved heads are sexy? maybe I can just man up and do it because I'm in really good shape otherwise.
>> Anonymous
>>323509
Did you always have a high forehead or did you actually start balding at some point?
>> Anonymous
I was born with a minor case of scoliosis that got worse over the years. I ended up having to have two back surgeries and now my back looks fucked.
>> Anonymous
very slightly gynecomastia(glands behind pecs, 10% or so of population have them)

and recently acquired tinnitus.. which really sucks :O
>> Anonymous
>>323528
I have a high-ish forehead, but nothing out of normal range. the loss pattern is sort of creeping around the front part, which is in rather good shape. just two circular patches where I REALLY wish hair would be, because I'd love to grow it long
>> Anonymous
>>323509
A. Nioxin, it won't grow hair but it'll help you keep what you have and thicken the strands.
B. Hair transplant will run you about $3500, not impossible to save up for. Could throw it on a credit card.
C. Hats.
>> Anonymous
>>323509

Don't be so shallow about your hair being a main influence on your appearance. As long as you have a great attitude, and sense of humor (bald jokes), you'll be fine.

Plenty of women think shaved/bald heads are sexy. Just shave it.
>> Anonymous
>>323537
Do you mean it's like, thin on the upper sides of the forehead?
If so my friend has that, can't say he really does anything about it he just shaves his entire head closely (as far as length, think a double 5 oclock shddow) once in a while and the entire head looks pretty much the same "pattern".
He also keeps it trimmed on the level of his facial hair so it looks pretty nice.

Before my lung surgery, walking home from school would result in me coughing, hacking and puking the moment I got home. For some reason the moment I slowed down at home, I would get sick on the spot.

About a mile walk every day for two years. Thats when I had the lung surgery (age 16 or so I think). Things were better for the most part, I could actually do things without being limited by my health.

22 now, and things are much the same as they were back then. After having 2/3 of a lung removed, I fear what will happen if I need another surgery.

does /fit/ want pics? I could better explain that way.
I gotta either shave it or treat it. certain methods have helped but the problem is sticking to the routine. Help me decide.

I'm thinkin' about the transplant thing. it's rather feasible.

>>323509
I started balding at 15 years of age. Now I'm 22, I'm pretty much bald right now.
I shave it every other week.
Also, I use hats

>>323565
So you're willing to spend thousands of dollars towards a false sense of attractiveness?

Don't worry about hair loss, it's a natural process. A LOT of men go through it. Just because you are getting it early does not mean you are going to lose your youthful look.
Stick to a healthy diet and maybe keep your face shaved or trimmed as well, and you'll remain youthful looking.

Pretty bad asthma (i'll start wheezing with a little bit of running) and year round allergies.

The asthma's the worst, though. Every time I run I need to take an inhaler with me. And even then, after I'm done running, I cough up mucus for the next hour.
>> Raar !/FsopyQZxE
>>323586
tried running slower? or possibly just briskly walking? coughing up all that stuff can't be good for your throat.

well, it's more of a quick jog than a full on run.
I've since stopped, as I only have so much albuterol and can't afford any more :(.

I think I'll take up swimming. How good of a replacement for running is that? [please no Mike Phelps jokes]

The hair on the sides is too long. Get a short back and sides, and you can keep the same kinda length at the front/on top.

Most chances are you're too far into your life to take this advice and actually use it, but I've had horrible asthma as a kid, sleepless nights of coughing and inhalers.
I picked up the trumpet at around 12 because my school made me and I'm not sure exactly by what age but I lost my asthma completely.

Yeah, I agree, shave sides more, keep front as it is (could shorten it a bit tho) and keep facial hair as is or a bit longer and I think you'd look great.

I'm 22 and I've been dealing with pain in my lower right abdomen for going on 9 months now. Had an ultrasound done, nothing found. Had an upper GI series done, nothing. My doctor is sending me to a gastroenterologist next. Being in constant pain sucks ass. Also I think I'm losing hair myself from the constant stress. Either that or I'm going bald. ;_;

I have angiokeratomas. Small black bumps on scrotum, harmless, genetic, but life ruining as I can't face having a mood destroying discussion about how they're not an STD before sex, so I don't even try to get girls. Usually happens to oldfags who are already married or whatever so it doesn't matter. Had them zapped off by dermatologist but they came back a couple weeks later. Doc told me they would come back forever. I hate my ballsack, it has forsaken me.

terrible eyesight. don't know if acne falls under health category. it should when I think about it, not only is it ugly, it has lowered my self esteem tremendously..

Diabetes, type one, confirmed.

Unconfirmed, SOMETHING IS HORRIBLY WRONG WITH MY BONES. They have this nasty habit of breaking over the most retarded things. Apparently, my hands are too brittle to handle actually hitting something. I hit a punching bag a couple of times, then suddenly had to stop because I realized that my fingers had a dull throb to them. Went to get an X-ray, turned out that I broke the pinky and ring metacarpals and cracked the middle metacarpal.

Shitsux.

Just a generalized chronic pain syndrome. I forgot what contributed to it, but it started up after some nasty reactions to antibiotics. For about two years I was too sick to leave the house, passed out frequently, had pretty bad seizures.
It all calmed down but now everything just hurts all of the time, my eyesight is shit, and I'm too tired and anxious to go anywhere. (walking about town and then suddenly going blind and being unable to move for upwards of an hour will do that to you)

Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. It's a rather rare one, about 1/10000 kids get it. It is mainly a shutdown of blood supply to at least one of the femoral heads, which causes bone necrosis and, eventually, loss of femoral bone in the hip articulation.

You need to use some shitty metallic thing in your leg for a couple of years, and the bone is supposed to regenerate, BUT, sometimes it regenerates with a good shape (spherical) and sometimes, it does not.

I kid you not, mine didn't shape properly ("llueve sobre mojado" or "rains over a wet place" as we would say in mexico) and this results in limited range of motion, and some pain from the articulation. Because of the misshapen bone, my cartilage will wear out fast and i cannot jog / run / brisk walk / walk a lot / do SQUATZ because i'd be fucking it still faster.

In a few years, i will develop osteoarthritis in that articulation and i'll need either a hip resurfacing or a hip replacement.

Because of this condition, i often rage when i see lazy people who doesnt make use of their bodies the way they are meant to be used, or i get sad when i see people playing soccer, or jogging.

I miss the feeling of running as fast as i can and the feel of my face pushing the air aside, good old times.

Shit sucks, it has marked me for life but it's not over, i just started swimming and i found it as a good substitute for the things i used to do.

i have some sort of mental disorder

the one where you obsess about something to the point where almost everything you do revolves around it.

it's some sort of autism i think, although i have no social problems at all so i'm pretty much awesome. although my obsession doesn't get me any women because i tell myself they are a waste of time and will get in my way of completing my goal

it's not a bad thing for me because i plan to have kids when i'm 40-45 anyways so there's no reason to have a girlfriend.. i've had 3-4 in high school and it wasn't any fun
>> Anonymous
>>323916
Can be averted, but once you have it, it is quite real.

Many of my patients have it and it fucks them all up
>> Anonymous
>>323921

Why, that doesn't sound like a disorder at all.

I have hypoglycemia, a torn labrum in my right shoulder, a torn tendon in my right ankle and a slipped disc in the middle of my back.

My back was actually the major thrust in getting /fit/.

I've always maintained pretty decent shape. I'm a naturally muscular guy and because I work in a restaurant I walk quite a bit. While I'm perhaps 10 pounds overweight due to too much beer drinking, I'm still quite athletic.

That said, chronic back problems prompted me to really develop my core and try shed my last few pounds of fat. Everything I've read about disc problems is, basically, unless you are unable to walk it's better to develop muscles in your back than it is to have surgery. . .

Hypoglycemia is a weird one. Basically it's no problem as long as I don't go too long without eating but sometimes I'll forget and then I can't figure out why I'm so upset and unable to concentrate until someone reminds me that I need to eat. It's never gotten severe enough that I've blacked out.
>> Anonymous
I have severe IBS. I'm nauseous almost constantly, i will have explosive diarrhea for a week, then have constipation for a week.

Yes, I've been taking 3 or 4 different treatments, some of it over-the-counter products. Never tried pills or any other advanced stuff, the problem is that most treatments are very expensive. But I'm sick of this shit, I will probably go to a dermatologists soon.
