If you don't feel comfortable (or capable) of running, walk. Start slow and work your way up to a decent pace. Once you're comfortable walking longer distance, do so, then jog...even if slowly at first, start a jog before too long. Any form of cardio could help you. Jumping rope, jogging, walking, HIIT, etc..


Also, a proper diet.

Its a stupid fad that bodybuilders are into because they think it burns "lots of calories after you stop running".

Heres what someone as out of shape as you needs to do. Run as fast as you can for as long as you can. After that walk until you can run again. Repeat for 30 minutes. Do this every day until you can run for the whole 30 minutes.

Since you don't have the will power, though, you should probably just kill yourself.

There's your problem. You don't jog at medium intensity, dumbshit.

bodybuilders do HIIT during the "cut" phase of their workouts. During this stage they cut their workouts back to accommodate their 3 day a week HIIT workouts. Once they're done cutting for whatever event they're cutting for they go back to doing very little cardio and heavily emphasize weight training.

Simply put, HIIT isn't viable as a long term solution for getting in shape, rather its a "crash course" for getting in shape quickly (the armed forces use HIIT for fucks that show up out of shape for basic while the more advanced ones jog). Its not something thats maintainable for long periods of time the way that jogging is.

Unfortunately all the kids over at 7chan's fit with ZC at the lead have decided that HIIT is the end all be all of cardio workouts which is simply isn't. Adding it as a once or twice a week workout in a cross training regimen is viable and is what i do. Its not neccesarily conducive for the average non body builder who just wants to have better heart health and be in better shape.

The most important thing regarding losing weight is to do something sustainable and something you enjoy. Most people aren't going to enjoy jogging 7 days a week (or HIIT) but of course these things are necessary and if done in the right frequency can become enjoyable if done in moderation.

Basically mix physical activities that you enjoy in with your less enjoyable, harder workouts to keep things from being dull. Crosstraining is the way to go. set up 3 or 4 or 5 days that you run or jog or HIIT and the other days do something physically strenous that might be more enjoyable, like playing basketball or the like.
