I'm fat. I don't want to be. I'm frustrated.

I've tried dieting before, and it never works. I like pizza, I like Italian food, and I can't eat diet food all the damn time.

I've tried exercising, and that made no difference at all.

I'm 5'9", and I'm around 250 lbs. I'm disgusted with myself, and I want to get down to 175.

I need to do something about it, but I honestly don't know what I need to do.

I too am fat, but here's my plan:

-Drop ALL drinks that aren't water or milk (already done for the most part)
-Switch all snacks to fruit
-Instead of 3 big meals, have 3 medium-ish meals, snacking a piece or two of fruit in between each meal.
-Don't eat so i'm full, eat till i'm about 60% full. With the fruit snacks I shouldn't need to eat that much anyway.
-Go for a jog every morning, and gym at least 3 times a week.

My routine:

- 30 to 45 min on treadmill (4-7 mph)

Every ten minutes into that walk/jog (I have a shit ton of weights, so you may need to improvise):

-15 laterals

-15 butterflies

-10 benches

-10 squats

I've been doing this for a few weeks now, and I've lost 25 lbs and lost like 4.5in in my waist. I naturally have massive shoulders and a keg (thanks to my genes on my mom's side), so it should work rather well.

To start with, do it every day (for about three weeks) then do it three times a week. I eat like a fucking pig and continue to lose weight.

but...if you are trying to lose bodyfat i would not recommend any milk after 3 in the afternoon...8oz of fat free milk is still 90 cal...most people don't even bother with portion sizes and just fill up a regular size drinking glass with milk, that's 2 servings...180 cal right there. If you truly want to lose 75lbs you have to be very strict with your diet, not only eat clean, but proper portions and limit your caloric intake as well.

But, like 372532 said, green tea. Learn to love it.
Don't go and replace meals with it, but... Like, in the morning, if you're used to a cup or 2 of coffee and a large breakfast, try a cup or 2 of green tea and a meal half the size of normal.
Just replace soft drinks and such with green tea.

Also, try not to eat within a couple hours of going to bed. When you sleep, your body's metabolism slows down, so if you eat a bunch before bed, it's just sittin' in ya not being digested/processed as well as it would be if you were fully awake.

If you REALLY can't control your lust for junk food, and assuming that proper vitamin intake isn't an issue with you, it's not as important WHAT you eat so much as it is HOW MUCH you eat.

Portion control is the most important thing to pay attention to when losing weight. Start just eating things one serving at a time and you'll realize how much you were overeating before. It's disgusting and amazing at the same time.

op i suggest you just stick with exercising regularly, try to find something you enjoy, my exercise that i enjoy is biking, instead of taking the car 2 the gym, i ride there. Another good tip is cut out all fizzy juice and pop, stick to squashes and water (squashes are just as good as water to be honest, theres like 2 calories a cup). And just try 2 eat reasonably and only when you're hungry, avoid comfort snacking, if you think you are gunna comfort snake, then just do something to take you're mind off. just remember you'll not loose weight over-night, try weighing yourself once a week or once a fortnight.

summing up:

just get you're 30-40 minutes of cardio (exercise that gets the heart pumped)
try using the HIIT technique (high intensity interval training, EG, sprint for 5 seconds walk for 10 seconds, repeat)
keep away from sugary treats/pop
avoid eating inbetween meals.

and never give up or nothing will ever change.

Eat much less, but it's not as easy as it sounds.

For starters, it's best to avoid going out to restaurants. Firstl because you generally do not know the nutritional value of what your eating, and because there is generally anywhere between 4-6 servings of food in just a single medium-sized dish. You overeat without even realizing it.

When eating meals prepared at home, eat only one or two servings of anything you eat (and only one serving when you're eating a snack). Only prepare/take what you will eat. Try and keep the three big meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) between 250-350 calories, and allow two or three 100-150 calorie snacks throughout the day (fruits and vegetables make excellent snack choices because of the generally low amount of calories).

Keeping a log of your meals and how many calories is extremely helpful when first starting off, but eventually it will become a habit and you can sort of "grow out" of needing to keep track.

Slowly ween yourself off junk and "empty calorie" foods. If you eat healthy you'll feel healthy, which will help you immensely when it comes to keeping up with your diet/exercise plan.

You should walk whenever possible. Try to fit in at least an hour of walking in per day, if you can do two hours that's fantastic. But eventually work your way up to jogging, then (once you have a bit of stamina built up) start doing HIIT (google it if you don't know what it is). You'll lose weight just ridiculously so much faster if you replacing walking with HIIT.

Good luck! I think it's awesome you're trying to improve yourself. It'll be a bit of a rocky start, but keep at it, the payoff is indescribably worth it.

Running and walking are both good exercises to lose weight, you just have to walk a lot more to get the same results as running (at least triple the time).

For me, I.. got extremely disgusted when i looked hard into this fatty thread on /r9k/ a few months back. I mean like.. shit.. I couldn't eat pizza or hamburgers ever again without picturing fat-fetishes masturbating and eating food.

So yea. I literally stop eating most junk food, and only have about 8oz pop once a month or whatnot (replaced with juice or water) and I'm currently in my third week in the gym.

i guess for some people it would help to commit first...
have a diet plan - foods you can't eat and foods that you should add more of

and sign up at your local gym.

it's a total lifestyle change. i just started dieting and it makes me really irritable because i had to cut out some of my main/favorite foods. i've heard over time you stop craving them so. gl op.

I was fat half a year ago and now I'm skinny. All you have to do is drop all the soda, snacks, candy, junk food and replace it with water, fruit and healthy food and like said before, eat small portions. You need to learn to eat until you're not hungry anymore, not until you're full.
Also MOVE! I started with running half a mile a day and gradually increased that to 6-7 miles a day now as my legs got stronger.

If you can keep that up (which is a lot harder than it sounds if you don't have the self-discipline) you will become good looking in a matter of months.
