got a terrible cold and cannot sleep for shit so i figure I'd make a progression thread

basically stopped doing much cardio at all for the past month and have been lifting HEAVY ASS WEIGHTS

and have been pretty much at the same weight for the past month, though I know mussle weighs more than fat and all that but what I'm curious about is, will my body fat drop off at the same rate by lifting as if I were doing cardio instead of lifting?

I know I can incorporate the two together and am gonna mix that in with my mwf 5x5 on off days but I just hate the thought of cutting and bulking, and have heard bad things about it. I mainly started lifting because when all this fat comes off in another 3-4 months(longer?) i dont want to be a scrawny skinny mothafucka

so yea anyway comments and advice plz, ask to suck my supple breasteses if you wish

yea but I did it for a reason, I knew it had been 3 years since i lifted and I would get DOMS so my first go with squatz killed my glutes and kept me unable to do cardio or more squatz for 4 days and after that a leg day killed my hamstrings which was another 3 or 4 days out from cardio

so yea when I'm done with this cold I'll be gettin in 30-45 min of cardio but not sure if I should do it the day I lift so I can get plenty of rest the next day or do it the next day

Fuck cardio. The only thing you need to work on is resizing your photos (make them smaller) and switching back to boxer shorts.

Lifting heavy ass weights is better than cardio. Let's talk about why, quickly.

Cardio is more accurately called aerobic exercise (it actually doesn't improve the strength of the heart that much). Cardio is steady work, therefore efficient work, which means the body can adapt to it easily. Being aerobic, the metabolism returns to normal shortly after finishing the activity. It takes some 45-60 minutes of cardio to effectively burn fat. Many people recommend HIIT, which is actually bringing cardios effects closer to Anaerobic activity.

Lifting weights is a natural HIIT process. Lifting = high intensity. Resting = low intensity/interval.

Weight lifting keeps your metabolism elevated longer, meaning you continue burning fat after you stop, for another 30 minutes. So doing 30 minutes of weights is like doing 60 minutes of cardio, in terms of caloric burn.

Further, activating the muscles releases chemicals into the bloodstream that stimulate the body to burn fat. Building muscle requires calories (which will be taken from stored fat on a low-cal diet) and each pound of muscle needs X calories to remain, so more of what you eat will be used to maintain your muscle, rather than be stored as fat.

A 220lb fatty eating 2800 calories a day will gain fat, a 220lb muscular guy will not gain fat, even if their food sources are identical and calorie totals are the same.

So fuck cardio, lift weights.

Really weak people can pack on some initial weight in a diet, but also, you dropped seven pounds. As you grow leaner, a change of a few pounds will have far more consequence in the mirror than you are used to. That seven pounds, for example, did more than the 23 before it.

More than an hour and a half of cardio a week is wholly optional. Its only use is to add a greater caloric deficit. Keeping your body primed with a mere two 45-min workouts should be enough to retain the increased fat-burning benefits of cardio.

My diagnosis? You will not be able to get any thinner, and your failtits will remain the same no matter how much you weigh. Once you stop exercising for more than a few weeks, your fat will run you over faster than McDonalds can get your food ready.
