hey /fit/
i have been riding a bike all my life and never really had a problem but this new bike I've gotten (pictured) just seems to be giving me one problem after the fucking next.

first the pedal broke off and i replaced them with metal ones them my right handle break broke off after i almost hid a kid and crashed hard.
now the gears are giving me shit.
its got 21 gears to shift about through but when i go to the 20th or 21st it starts clicking and it feels like its bouncing about through the gears and it makes me loose my footing on my pedals.
why the fuck is it doing this shit?
what do i have to tighten to fix this fucker up? its pissing me off to damn bad but i cant send it back because i have already used it so much that its wear and tear are a little obvious (dings and scratches and i put a new seat on).
you tell me experts of /fit/.

Take it to any bicycle shop. They'll know how to repair it.

Dude its a mongoose. I'm sorry but they still have the stigma as a walmart bike and the only one I'd even consider getting is the Boot'r and thats a stretch. I'm guessing the components on this are utter shite. You need to remember that more than anything when having troubles. Onto the gearing, check if the rear derailleur is bent ever so slightly. That will seriously mess up the shifting. Hope that helps but next time don't buy a mongoose...

Probably the only thing you can immediately do

GJ on buying a welfare bike. Protip: spending less than $600 on a bicycle ($300 if used) means your bike is likely shit.

This has nothing to do with fixed gear. That said, fixed gear remains composed primarily of win.

You could try checking for a manufacturer's warranty. Or take it to your LBS (local bike shop), and they'll fix it. They might laugh at you though, since it does look like a department store bike. Do you use it for commuting? You might try buying a road bike or hybrid/commuters bike next time instead. /n/ knows more about bicycles than /fit/ also. Laslty, I say next time, just bowl over the kid.

OP is better off buying a used bike and taking it to a shop. Thatll be <300$, and they'll get a bike worth a lot more than any tin bit they find at a franchise store.

Toss your bike in the dump and buy a bike from a reputable brand.

Giant, Marin, Jamis, Kona, Norco have nice low end bikes. Don't spend less than $300 you poor fuck.

There's being a poor fuck and there's being jewish about it.
I was jewish about it. I got very lucky and found what appeared to be a never-before-used (clean, tires had their whiskers, brakes were great, no rust) It was a maroon B6 and it cost me 45$. Tightening it and painting it and getting shocks and gears, and working at a sporting good store, I can say I saved myself 600$ in value.

Your rear derailleur needs adjusting. It happens, especially if it is new, due to cable stretch. Any local bike shop can fix it on the spot. Should cost 10 bucks or less.
