Hi there /fit/, an anonymous of the female variety, speaking.

I'm not overweight but I'm a little bit out of shape, and today some friends of mine invited me along to a beach trip for a week in mid-June. Well, shit. I'd rather not be all out of shape for something I need to be wearing a bathing suit for. I'm not expecting some sort of miracle solution where I have a much better looking figure in a month, I was just wondering if you had any ideas on how to improve a little by then.

Pic unrelated, I am not a Lickitung.

Stop drinking soda and junk food.
And ride your bicycle or jog.

I already don't drink soda or eat junk food, I just naturally don't like them. Which is probably one of the reasons why I'm just out of shape and not a huge fatty.

I could do jogging, but I don't have a bike, because, well...I kind of can't ride one. Balance issues.

Anything else more specific? Like how much jogging are we talking about here?

get off your ass and start running? cut your calories by 500? anyway, pic to see what you mean by "out of shape" because without one it'll be hard to even determine if you can lose it in a month

Sorry, if I had a camera I'd post a picture. I would have had one as my original picture if I did, so instead there are Pokemon.

By out of shape I mean I'm 5'7" and 124 lbs but my thighs/butt especially are a little more...jiggly than they should be. That's mostly the area I'm worried about. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I wouldn't aim to lose weight if you're only 124. Just tone. Jog, ride your bike, do some calisthenics. Pilates works well for this sort of thing - if you want a DVD I recommend Anna Caban

Well...without a pic I'd have to say do some running and find some sort of core/yoga exercises to do with some weigh resistance added in for good measure (those little weight thingies you but on your ankles/wrists, but the soft kind).

>Just tone

RAGEEEE

Seriously though, if she doesn't lose fat or build muscle she's going to look the fucking same. You look "toned" by having your muscles show through your fat. If you keep your body fat the same and don't build muscle I don't care what exercises you do or how often you do them, YOU WILL LOOK THE SAME.

Seems like jogging is the main thing being suggested. What's a good time/distance to jog if you don't do it normally? Sorry I have a lot of questions, I've just never really put thought into getting into shape before. Thanks for helping so far, and sorry again that I don't have a picture.

Start off low. A mile a day should be good, although if you're really bad off you may have to walk a bit. Then work yourself up. You want a 500 calorie deficit, and running one mile burns approximately 100 calories, so run run run run run.
