How do you define vigorous effort, /fit/? I put a lot of effort into riding my stationary bike but I'm a fat guy - a slim guy would be able to put a lot more effort into it than I could. I suppose I'm asking does the amount of effort you put into cardio depend on how fit you are? So what's vigorous for me would be moderate for slim person? Yay or nay?

Yeah basically, But its harder for the "fit" guy to burn as much calories and get his heart rate that high as you can that fast.

I prefer intense. If a workout absolutely exhausts me to the point where I no longer want to step in the gym or let alone eat when I get home, I know I've done my job. Its all relative. For me it means doing 12 sprints with 10 second rest followed by long shuttle runs during cardio. Lifting its doing 4 sets of cleans with little rest. The base marker is when your done do you feel like you want to puke.
