Howdy /fit/,
So I started running to get in shape. A little over 5'7" at 139, with a bit of a gut. So as I've been running these past two weeks and I managed to do a mile in 8:35. I kept running for about 30 minutes after that, albeit at a slow pace of around 4 mph. I run about 3-4 times a week, and have cut out all soda, and stopped eating large quantities and instead eat less throughout the day. If I keep this up, how much weight can I expect to lose by Summer (Juneish)?

Also, just out of curiosity, how fast can you guys run a mile? I'd like to start doing it quicker.

Sounds solid, just don't forget the water and sleep.

I can run a mile in 2:45.

With a time like that, you really ought to contact the IAAF or something. I bet that pace will someday be achieved, but definitely runners are still a minute off of that.

But, I can run a mile in under six minutes , and I'm getting faster due to some tempo runs I've been doing.

What you ought to work at is increasing your pace for the entirety of your run, not just one mile. I've been running awhile (used to be for exercise, but I now plan to race), and my last good tempo run was 6.2 miles at 6:56 min/miles with moderate exertion (as in 65%-50%). So do speedwork, but with the goal of increasing your overall time, not just a portion of your run.

But speedwork will help you boost weightloss.
