Hey /fit/ people,
The picture on the left is me the picture on the right is the physique I want to have. I've been following the rippetoe 5x5 program on Mon., Wed., and Fri. with Cardio days on Tues. and Th. I've also been eating a 40/40/20 cal/protein/fat diet 500 calories under my required bmr to lose weight.
I've been doing this for the last 3 months and realize that it'll take many months more to get to where I want to be. My goal right now is to first lose the gut I have. I've seen some improvements in strength and physique thanks to the program, but I was curious to know...in the long run, how should I be changing this program? How should my diet and weightlifting regimen change to reach my goal, and when should I think about changing them

Any and all advice would be totally appreciated.

Lieutenant Obvious, I now promote you to Captain.

The picture on the right is supposed to give a general idea of how I would like to look.

Eat 2000 to 2500 calories every day you work out. Lift weights during the week and do cardio exercises (such as running and swimming) on the week end using 1 day of rest. If you really want to see results do this program hard and don't half-ass around it. You'll see great result every month but greater results during the 6-12month.

OH, easy. Just practice a dempsey roll counter and you'll eventually gain the physique you've always dreamed of!

could you not come up with.... an ACTUAL physique? jesus, talk about lofty aspirations.

Good god look at those serratus muscles. How do you train that muscle and what are the benefits of it? I heard it was also called "boxer's muscle."

Don't aspire to look like Sendo, Sendo's an asshole

Well, googling up for Boxers Physique gave me nothing but shittonnes of pictures of dudes in boxer shorts. My google-fu might be weak, so I went for the next best idea I could give.

>>239474
Yeah, I know. I just used it because I couldn't find any decent pictures of Ippo.

Don't give me that shit when you're on fucking 4chan.

If your first goal is to lose the gut then do interval training (1 minute sprinting 2 minutes resting) following by as much running as your can do at a moderate pace without having a heart attack.
I got rid of my fat when I thought of the pain I felt in as punishment for my laziness and carelessness.
Like what they say in Fight Club "Self improvement is masturbation, maybe self destruction is the answer."

I really wanted to, but the only places that are in town do cardio boxing. Every other boxing club's closed down or dont advertise themselves.

So you want to get huge? THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING A 5x5 STRENGTH PROGRAM IDIOT.
>> Anonymous
>>240045

Idiot, ripptoes or bill star's 5x5 is the BEST program a beginner can do.

Doing heavy compound exercises and eating good foot will gain you heaps of mass.

These program WORK, you will gain strength and mass, after you've built a good base, then you can go do bodypart focused splits with higher volume and reps.

Uh who said you should change the exercises? They're great. But if you want mass training in the 8-12 rep range is the way to go.

You shouldn't eat foot. It's zombie snack.

Also I want that body.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%

I was hoping to get some advice on when I should change. When does someone get past the beginner stage? How long should I be lifting or how much should I be lifting before I start working on specific muscles with higher reps? Is it when I'm lifting a percentage more than my own body weight? When I weigh a certain weight or when I've lifted for a specific amount of time? I have no idea.

you do realize that that's not a REAL physique right? how about you try to find an actual physique that another person has, rather than one that someone draws.

To look like Sendo take Sport Beanz and do 1000 bodyweight squats a day while singing along to Ippo soundtrack.

SOREGA STAAAAAAART WAY!!!

This isn't even an anatomically correct drawing. I don't care whether or not you like anime, but this is an unhealthy frame of reference for what to expect out of yourself.

Agreed, I should have worded my first post better. Rather than saying its the physique I want to have, I should have said it's the type of physique I wanted to have. Thanks to the link so generously provided by

This would be the type of physique I'd like to have or be working towards. Any advice for that?
