Hello /fit/. Doing great so far on my journey with my health and weight management, here are my current stats:

Height: 5'11
Weight: 215 (used to be 230)
Target Weight: 180 lbs

Alternating HIIT and cardio with strength training, with Sunday rests. Eating around 1500 calories a day with about a 60:30:10 protein:carb:fat ratio. Anyways, I'm looking to add some girth to my muscles. I only seriously started weight training in May (so its been about roughly 2-3 months). I've noticed huge gains in my strength, but not so much in muscle girth and definition. I know I know, I still have a lot of fat to lose, but is the reason why I'm not seeing gains in muscle girth because my body is trying to burn fat first rather than building up muscle? I'm not saying I see any gains in muscle, but I'd like to see some more. About how much time should I actually see some improvement. Thanks fit.

you are still in a caloric deficit which is why, while you are improving your strength your muscles aren't growing all that much bigger say if you were in a caloric surplus feeding the muscle
