Without ever training, I did 22 correct pullups in highschool.

It was the record for the past 5 years, with classes of ~350

Back to me though, fucker. I've always been jacked as shit and I haven't played sports since I was 12. I just starting lifting (2 minutes every other day or so) about 6 months ago, and i went from 180lb to 150lb, with pretty good definition now. I can even see my abs!

Pullups = palms away from you. They're better because you put your hands away from each other enough and you get your entire back into it in addition to forearms and bis.

Chinups = palms facing you. Works mostly your biceps, they suck comparitively
>> Anonymous
>>248559
As far as I found, it's hand position - either palm away or palm facing you (chin up palm facing). I didn't know either, I'm just better at the internet.

About 15, but that was perpendicular to the bar, with my hands locked by the fingers, alternating sides.
>> Anonymous
I never do max, but probably around 12-13 each. I weigh a little over 120lbs

Because it sucks to know how much of a failure you are, amiright or amiright?

12 strict pullups for me @135 pounds. Haven't done chins in forever.

makes a good point, the depth you drop for each rep makes a huge difference.. i can only do a couple of dead hanging chin ups sequentially, they are incredibly hard I must say

last month I weighted in at 206
2 chin ups total
? pull ups(didn't do them)

this mouth I weighted in at 195
8 chin ups total
4 pull ups total

slow progress is slow...

also is it bad that I can do more chin ups than pull ups?
>> Loser
Hmm let's see if I can somehow latch onto the bar.
>> Anonymous
>>248626
no, normal, chin ups are easier than pull ups.
>> Anonymous
10-11 pull-ups

16-17 chins
>> Anonymous
>>248632
if you're a weak fuck with an underdeveloped back. Look at the relative sizes of your lats + bis + forearms + posterior delts as opposed to straight up biceps. If you have any muscle at all pull ups are easier.

tl;dr pullups ftw, chinups suck assholes

They're both called pull-ups, the one you call chin-ups is called reverse grip pull-ups. Both require you to get your chin above the bar.

pull-ups - 18
RG pull-ups - 25
>> Anonymous
>>248649
STFU, idiot. Chins work the back as much as pull-ups, if you notice the arm is still being pulled down to your sides in either movement; but in chins, it's not in as much isolation from other bodyparts, especially the biceps. It's more compound. More compound = more poundage.

Or are you one of those bitches that can leg extension more than he can full squat? Bitch.

This thread is now about how much you can squat. (squat rack with olympic bar, no smith machine pussies)
>> Anonymous
>>248625

Yea, 248620 here, I'd like to see people post what they can do from a dead hang. I see a lot of people at the gym who just go half-way.

If anyone doesn't know what that means, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5zvejfD2Is Notice how he isn't swinging and his arms fully extend.

>> Anonymous
>>248661
>chins work the back as much as pullups

yeah, they do, IF your hands are as far apart as they are for pullups. Thing is, most people don't DO chinups that way, they do chinups with their hands relatively close together, so it's a moot point. Back is worked more when hands are farther apart, end of story.

and it's never really a good idea to support your argument based on another anon's perceived lifting stats. I can fucking guarantee you that I squat more than you, but there's no feasible way to support my argument other than saying so, so it doesn't matter.

tl;dr you're an ass
>> Anonymous
About 5-7 of either, from a full extension.

When I first started 2 weeks ago I was doing like 10 but from only half a drop, I quit that shit 'cause it's weak.
>> Anonymous
70kg, 180cm

don't do chinups, but i do 3 sets of 12 pull-ups on back day. last set, i can manage 9 with 5kg extra weight.

although today, i only went 10 on the last set with no added weight cause i haven't been to the gym in two weeks.... =/

I can squat double my body weight + 20 Kg, is this good ?
thats 150 Kgs and i weigh rougly 65-70Kgs, and exactly 6 foot tall (ooooh yeeaah)

>> Anonymous

i've read wide grip pullups only put unnecessary strain on your rotator cuff, without any comparative benefit to your back strength... is this true?

no. why don't you give it a try and see if it hurts. Ever. by the same reasoning pulldowns are bad for you. Unnecessary strain comes from doing 'behind the neck' pullups or downs, and you only do that if you're fucking retarded.

>>249916
When I started doing chins/pulls about 2 months ago, I could only do 2 or so. I am now up to 6-8 from a dead hang, perfect form, done about 10 sets throughout the day, the last sets going for 2-3. (using the "grease the groove" routine). I was planning a "to failure set" last week, but got intestinal amebiasis, shat about 100 times in the past 48 hours, and can barely walk up the stairs.

Anywho, I figure I can do about 12 all out with good form, at 190 lb and dropping fast.
