hello /fit/
i have an annoying problem area. i am extremely skinny, (size 0, weight usually around 90-95 lbs, 5'4") despite this i have a little belly pooch. i eat healthy and in small portions, and i get a fair amount of physical activity daily, but do not exercise regularly.
is the key to getting rid of this exercise, diet, or a mixture of both? what type of exercises are best for targeting this area?

this condition is known as skinnyfat.
work out, eat right, get enough sleep.
that'll fix it.

i do two of the three. i used to work out, but saw no change to the belly pooch over a long period of time. i don't know what way to work out to target it.

well size 0 isn't used in men's sizing.

How are you only a size zero? Is your "belly pooch" really that big? I'm 5'6" and about 105-110, and I wear 00

0.o

Are you bloated? Also, just go back to exercising. Cardio + weights. Its a magical combo.

well its not big compared to the average person's belly pooch. but compared to the rest of me it looks so stupid. a little part below my belly button that sticks out, in between jutting hip bones.

also, where do you find 00? i never see those. i wear my clothes a bit baggy.

Can't spot reduce. Stop drinking, do abs, run, eat healthy. Otherwise enjoy your imperfection.

Gain some weight and it'll even out. Almost everyone (except gifted people and people who are ripped) has a nice little "pooch" on their stomach.

I usually have a hard time finding them in stores before they're all gone. I'm resorting to ordering them online-- almost any clothing company should have 00 or something along those lines, especially online

Your problem is known as not working out seriously. It affects millions of people each year and is the leading cause of not making progress.

3 times a week, an hour each time is all it takes at first. This sort of schedule isn't that big of a problem--workout before bed, take a shower, eat a meal, and you'll be ready to pass out. Keep working out 3 times a week for the first month. This is to build the routine and energy, and on the rest days, walking or jogging or running for half an hour.

After a month, do a 4 or 5 day schedule. Start by targetting specific muscle groups. Such as

Days 1 3 upper body
Day 2 and 4 lower body
Day 5, intensive cardio

It's not recommended to start this way at first, as you'll find you won't have the energy for proper workouts.

It seems like your problem here wasn't that you didn't see gains, but that you didn't commit enough to see gains. That belly fat will "disappear" pretty quickly if you do. Not because you've necessarily lost it, but because right now you're skinny enough that there is no muscle to counter balance it.

tl;dr You don't need to become xbox huge, but you need to workout consistently to make it go away.

thanks i will try this

this is probably what happened. i only focused on ab and lower body workouts, about 3 times a week, 30 mins, for several months. saw no difference so i gave up.
