Irony is the word that best describes our outcome. No matter how much we uncover to improve the health of our citizens, we are still going eat lot’s of food while we watch the super bowl, host house warming parties, celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years. For some, it’s just not enough to see reoccurring patterns in their health. At the end of the day, it’s up to the person weather or not they want to discipline themselves to eat right, and live a healthy life.

Does /fit/ agree?

Eating unhealthy one night a month doesn't really alter your diet as a whole.
Besides, even at parties with lots of unhealthy food there's ways around over-eating. One of them being eating a moderately sized meal before you leave home so you're not starving when you arrive, another is making sure there's an option of healthier food where you're going. Keeping a bottle of water on you or chewing on gum also helps preventing mindless snacking while eating TV.

What we've got to remember is that people still need to have self-control, and that eating healthy isn't just a matter of bad food being out of sight, out of mind,

Being a slave of holidays like Christmas and Easter and eating special food to mark those days is so retarded it would be funny if it wasn't sad.

Then again, celebration of any holiday is retarded.

At the end of the day it really comes down to what you want personally. If you do want to be healthy, you need to learn to be healthy and act in healthy ways. Until Americans in particular and the world in general does this, we are screwed.

Allowing your self a cheat day really isn't a bad idea. As with any repetitive action or habit over time your body will get used to it. In weight training your body will get used to the same routine over and over again causing it to loose it's effectiveness over time, which is why most people change their regimen periodically to prevent plateaus.
The same thing can happen with dieting. For example low carb dieting. Over time your body will "hold on to" carbs longer causing your diet to become less effective at burning the carb calories. By shocking your system with cheat meals or cheat days once every week or two you can prevent your body from getting too used to the diet.
