/fit/, is it true that it's almost impossible to gain muscle mass while losing body fat?

Yes, just eat more fat and carbs.

Its possible, just economically conflictive since your gaining weight and losing it, you'll get better results with a bulking - cutting phase.

For the most part, yes. Building muscle requires a caloric surplus, and losing fat requires a caloric deficit. Two totally different ideas.

But if you're building muscle, and the muscle needs a constant source of energy, and fat can be used as that energy, it could work. Not sure if that's even possible. I would just stick with the bulk/cut cycle

possible doing it now though if I went on a scale it might say I weigh about the same as when I started 2 months ago. I hack be gaining muscle while losing fat all over my body. Just eat around 70-85% of your needed calories.
though I will be honest and say that I am not gaining muscle as fast as people who first cut then gain but this way I feel is more healthy.

it depends on how much fat and how much muscle you have
if you have lots of fat and very little muscle it is possible
lots of muscle and very little fat -> impossible / very hard
also, steroids probably help...

Ok, over the past 3 months i have lost 40 lbs. and have definitely gained muscle, so it is very possible. I just did a lot of cardio, and worked out with medium weight, not extremely low weight, and did 3 to 4 sets of 20 on everything when I lifted. I have lifted and run nearly every day of the week, so I dont know all the caloric mechanics behind it, but yeah, its possible.

It's counterintuitive, but>>42824
hit it on the nose. Anecdotal evidence shows that new trainees can and often do lose fat while building muscle.

Unfortunately, those n00b gains stall out after a few months.

yeah fucking tell me about it... But i have found that tricking your body into a fast metabolism is the best way to lose weight wille excersizing i would suggest a two phase approach. Build muscle then make it lean by working alot with light work endurance stuff then ramp your carbs up like crazy and just bike the fuck out of yourself. youll start to melt but you have to keep up with it and GET LOTS OF SLEEP!
The biggest reason people fail is cause they dont sleep when they should!
