Does muscle=speed?

How to develop speed?
>> Anonymous
PRACTICE SPEEDY MOVEMENTS?
>> Anonymous
eat your own semen, its your speed trying to escape.

wear weights and do speed training, backpack of weight when doing sprints, ankle and wrist weights when swimming and or sparring

This. Maybe a weighted vest is good for some training, and some running with added weight could have a few benefits, but if one wants to get faster, it's all about the agility. and big guys can have agility as well.

Sprinting with weights? Enjoy your horrible arthrisis.
For sprinters, strenghth is is speed, so squats and the like.

Just practice the movements that you need to speedy at speedily.

bruce lee = small
strength athletes = big

That's ridiculous. Of course the strength athletes are stronger, because it's what they've trained to do. But considering strength relative to size, ability to control the body, agility and balance, Bruce has them down.

-Lift a light weight as fast as you can for about 3 reps.

Bruce Lee shitstorm means that all the internet martial arts "experts" will converge on one thread to argue about who would win in a fight against Bruce Lee.

No one

Sprint up hills and jog back down, this is a great method for increasing sprint speeds. But above 800m, it's just endurance.
>> Anonymous

Holy christ, his legs....
>> Anonymous
Do high weight low reps.

Because you're lifting as fast as you can, for very few reps, you only train fast twitch muscle.

Also, bruce lee lifted like a bodybuilder. That's why he looked like a really short bodybuilder with no body fat.
>> Anonymous
it's called plyometrics

You want speed? Take up a speed sport club, like basketball, boxing, fencing, etc. Main thing about speed is that you must get the form down before you can do it quickly. Otherwise you get clumsy sloppy movements that don't conserve energy, so you're wasting your action potential. Watch Mr Lee again, watch how little motion is actually involved in his punches. Use the slow-motion feature if you have to.
>> Anonymous
>>108561
no, the answer is everyone because bruce lee is a pussy
>> Anonymous
speed is cns dependent, regardless of your percentage of fast twitch fibre. the type of training that developes it enduces a particular form of fibre hypertrophy. so if by speed you mean moving powerfully against resistance then sure, you'll get a type of size as well. sprinters and those that engage in explosive sports tend not to be skinny.
>> Anonymous
>>108410
do you jump when you run? you get arthritis when you suddenly stop doing exercise.
>> Anonymous
olympic lifts will train twitchy motion/muscles. its particularly useful for hops and sprints. if you want to do sprints, do it with a weighted sled or a partner attached to an elastic band pulling you back. running with weights upsets your body's balance and could lead to injury if you're not able to compensate.

if by speed, you mean acceleration, then yes.

You dont have to be that skinny to be fast.

Just do sprints of 5 seconds and incrise 3 seconds every 2 rounds.

That would help you.

relaxation is key in punch/kick speed
>> training martial artist
i forget where i learned it but there's three kinds of muscle:
red - strong
white - fast
pink - best of both
you could say that shaolin monks (kungfu like bruce lee uses) relies on pink muscle. however in all martial arts it's not about just the punch but throwing the body into it, twist counterbalance, gravity, and all. if you want effective muscle, yes train martial arts for speed and accuracy, but still train for a single powerful strike. i am personally against ritually lifting wieghts, you build mass which is like armor, but you loose speed. speed CAN equal strength. strength will follow speed and endurace. speed wont follow strength and endurace.
>> Anonymous
speed is gained through repetitive annoying exercises combined with state of mind and technique.

i am totally out of shape but i can pull my hand out of my pocket, punch someone in the throat three times and put my hand back in my pocket before they know what the fucks going on. i don't advise doing that though. you can seriously hurt people.

I don't mean running speed.

I mean relfex speed? is there a way to improve this? my reflexes suck. people can fake me out easy.

From personal experiences, having someone try to slap you in the face repeatedly increases your reflexes. We did that EVERY FUCKING DAY in Tae Kwon Do practice, that came a day a girl tried to slap me and I slapped her after holding her hand, just pure instinct.

Train yourself to dodge and to be aware, and so you shall.

speed is pretty much 3 things

Reaction time: This is the perception of an attack, or rather the interval between stimulus and the beginning of response.

Response time: This is the time it takes to choose an appropriate response to the initiation of the actual movement.

Movement-speed: Quite simply, this is how quick your counter punch is or how fast your body moves getting out of the way of trouble, etc.

take jogs in the woods or over terrain that has obstacles, or even an obstacle course.
play wallball or do something else that needs you to react quickly, this will help your reaction times.

do baloon kicks in a place with challenging terrain or obstacles,
and one of my favorites for looking like a fool while you do it, do side shuffles on a treadmill

and was far as visual response goes, play video games :D
oh and practice focusing on far away and close objects rapidly. personally i wear glasses but without them i still have great motion detection and depth perception. visual speed is by far the easiest thing to work on.

K=1/2*mv²

Your definition states that if there is no force acting on an object, then K=0.
>> ???????????
f = ma which means an object can still impact force with 0 velocity as long as it has acceleration.

>>110255

a = [v(t + delta(t)) - v(t)] / delta(t)

With zero velocity you have no acceleration.

no at this point there is a balance of all forces on the ball so it only moves through the universe with the earth but doesnt move in relation to earth and the things on it so at this exact point it has no acceleration

The difference between elite and regular is the amount of time it takes for an athlete to tense and relax. You cannot move fast with tense muscles but must generate tension to move your body. So, do the movement with the fastest possible speed for one or two strikes/movements and then shake loose, repeat this process. It teaches your body how to contract to get them nigra fists moving but also to relax immediately afterwards so you can maintain that speed. That, atleast, how I perceived the information I found. It is all about the central nervous system. As you perform an action your CNS remembers the exact stimulus and actions taken. As you repeatedly do an action over time, it recognizes a need for it and adapts to it, becoming more efficient. It's adaptive hardware.

If you want to train that way, reduce the stress on your joints by running barefoot. Shoes throw off your natural gait and balance, as well as hamper the body's ability to reduce impact stress. Check out this article if you want a source:
