Balance? focus !rOKBvThKNc
Do any of you practice balance as part of your workout? I'm wondering because my balance is pitiful imo, and i'm looking for any tips or tricks to improve it.

Take yoga, It not only helps with flexibility, but there are some moves that improve balance.

for balance you need to have good core strength so work on your biceps more.

Please forgive me for being ignorant but how does it help, by building the core correct?

they'll hate you and think you're a perv. Have fun being automatically hated when you step through the door.

Yes, core strength. Overhead squats especially demand a lot from your core balance.
And yes, do lots of bicep curlz (4dagurlz) to further improve your overall body strength. They're da best.

Unless you're STARING at us, we don't mind it and actually ENJOY a guy's presence.
It shows you're not "too tough" to sit and stretch in our company.
And it's not like it's a "chick thing"....

yeah on leg days I try to balance myself by standing on the backs of the smaller guys at the gym. If they move I tenderly love them.

Well, just standing on one leg is good practice for balance. Most of my balance I got from doing grappling martial arts, wrestling in high school and judo recently. There's no better practice for balance than by having someone try as hard as they can to throw you to the ground.

Another thing that's fun if you ride on the subway or bus is find an empty spot and balance while the car moves. Depending on the quality of the railway line it can be quite challenging.

Start doing cleans, snatches, clean and jerks, power cleans, squats, front squats, over head squats, and look in to doing some football offensive linemen work outs.

You should ask if they provide mats for you to do your moves on. Other than that, no.

Cleans, snatches, jerks and so on are Olympic lifting movements. My good friend Norb here is demonstrating a beautiful split snatch (HUR HUR HUR) over to my left.

Chances are you won't find a gym that will teach you the lifts, but it's worth your time to see if you can.

The classical lifts teach coordination, balance and poise. They also beat you into the ground until you become gorilla strong.

The split snatch although out dated and rarely used, is still a thing of both grace and power.

Look up those lifts online. And if you can find someone to help you learn them, as they are some of the best full body/balance exercises you can do.

One of the things that Crossfit gyms do very well is the teaching of classical lifts. If you can swing free or low-cost Olympic lifting lessons from a CF gym, DO IT.
