hey /fit/, i had a pectus excavatum surgery about a year and some months ago (not pectus carniatum, I had pigeon chest which was an outward excursion of the chest cavity, and they just cut it off)

now, the doctor had to remove a good portion of my pectoral, and when i flex there is a triangle that you can visibly see missing

the blacked out areas are where the muscle was cut, minus the black island higher up on the pec past the nipple line, i just got bored lol

the question: how long will it take for that muscle to grow back? im just looking for an estimate, within 2-3 year? 3-4? 5-6?

i run a pretty rough chest routine just to get whatever is there back into shape, and it seems to be filling in a little. will the muscle grow back faster as i lift?

I dont think it well, sorry dude. But im not a doctor so im not 100%

personally, depending on your diet plan, i think it would grow back.

obviously, the pec is a muscle, so, eating protein would help regenerate it?

You should have asked your doctor these questions.

No. Muscles don't grow back, they get bigger. That's what hypertrophy is.

Yeah they actually won't ever grow back completely. Just make up a cool story about how its an injury from a car accident or wrestling a bear.
