I've started to powerwalk to loose some weight.
I go out 5 times a week for 8km, which takes me just over an hour each time, what I wanna know is if this is a good tempo and if the duration will affect my fat-burn enough?

I want to know too.

every kind of cardio is good for losing fat.
What is important is food though.
No point in exercising if you stuff yourself at the same time.

the right speed is different for everyone, but the guideline is that you should feel like you are going fast enough to jog and that its harder to force yourself to walk (involves arm swinging and calf burn, but hips should not be swaying a lot if they are then take smaller more frequent steps)

duration doesn't matter, distance matters but 8km is pretty good

Sounds good to me.

You should be walking as fast as you can that's still comfortable. It shouldn't feel awkward to walk at that speed or like you should just break into a jog or something.

Of course, HIIT is better than walking alone, but walking is certainly less strenuous.

Jump roping, imo, is easier in the long term and better for you than any walking exercise. Any high-intensity workout is better than a slow-intensity workout too if you're looking for weight loss.

you should skip rope instead, combine the power of running and rope jumping!!!

OP here, is 3 months something that I could expect before i've lost near my goal-weight?

3 months should be enough time at 2lb per week.
