Share you success stories!

How did you get to where you are now?

Me, I don't have a success story. I'm working on losing 60 pounds by next summer. :)

a year ago i was 5' 10 and 240 lbs of fat, couldnt bench press the bar and had a 95% chance of getting diabetes. After taht shit really hit me, so i got a gym pass, and hit cardio like crazy till i went down to 208lbs. I was still a flabby piece of shit, so is started to wieght train and boguht supplements, and gained 20 pounds of msucle; max bench went to 165lbs. Then after that, i started to cut and power lift, and now in one year im 204 lbs, max bench is 225, and chance of diabetes is now 0%. I still have some flab, but im still a work in progress.

early april I was 30% bf and I'm around 17% now, still got a small gut and small tits so I'm unsure if I need to just finish off the cut and get rid of them or bulk then cut

fffffffff
>> sage

Dude, why are you trying to lose weight? =/ You're at your perfect BMI, so if anything you should only ever be aiming to go up from there, and only with muscle gain. Any lower and its just unhealthy.

If you want to see your abs theres two ways to do it. Get fucking skinny like it seems you're planning to do lol. Or go on a massive protein diet, where you run/bike/ etc cardio a lot to keep your fat off, and do at least 1/2 hour every 2nd day of work on your abs.

You need to find a balance of massive protein and massive cardio/fitness training... its a lot of work dude, guys with a 6/7/8 pack work hard to get cut.
>> Anonymous
>>346979
not the guy you quoted but how exactly massive do you mean?

explain plzzz
>> Anonymous
>>346979
I take a more bodybuilding like perspective. What you said doesn't attracts me at all. Why do I need 30 minutes of abs workouts when I can do two exercises in less than 10 minutes with a lot of weight?
Of course I will start bulking after this. And the BMI is shit.

Nice tighty-whiteys.

What i mean by that dude, is your diet should consist of foods which contain a great deal of protein and very little else. Depends whether you can afford it or not though haha, as a uni student i find it pretty hard to eat well, but ideally you should eat lots of lean red meat, with no fat on it, or if you can't get that, you should go for a protein supplement, you know in those plastic tubs you see? haha.

The more you shock your body, the more results you'll get. You just need to make sure you don't hurt yourself seriously, but at the same time, you do what to hurt yourself to some extent. After you go to the gym, always have a protein shake, because thats the ideal time to take it in, as your muscles are in repair/strengthening sorta mode lol.

Try going to the gym every second day if you can, and doing cardio on the day in between. If you can get into a routine like this, and stick to it, and haven't been doing too much beforehand, your body will start to react very quickly.

Also, a small tip is that working your largest muscles, like the muscles in your upper legs, by doing squats and legpress releases chemicals which encourage muscle growth in your entire body, so just mix it up a bit and you should do fine

>>347000

Haha well dude, if you know what you're doing quit wasting other's time. You're obviously pretty happy with your arrangement. It's difficult to max out your abdominals the way you can your other muscles, you can't do a 1-2-3 rep max set with your abs lmao they're not really built for it for it.

>>your abs lmao they're not really built for it for it.
I know what you mean.
I just find it curious because in this days most people will disagree with what you said. Most people now agree that the old school "1000 crunches a day" routine is over and the abs work like any other muscle, so you train hard and don't overwork them.
That's why I thought you were a troll or didn't know shit. I'm also a believer in some old school thinking, I divide my body into lower and upper and train each part 2 times a week, even when many people here don't agree with this. I also curl for da girlz
>> Anonymous
>>347027

Yeah i agree with what you're doing there, 2 times a week for upper/lower is a pretty good setup, i've got no idea why anyone would find anything wrong with that.

My reasoning for suggesting something like a high number of reps instead of a few high intensity is that i know plenty of guys who just sit on their swiss ball while they're watching tv at home and do some crunches for 1/2 hour and seems to keep their core pretty strong.

I guess i sorta need a mix of explosive/endurance strength for basketball, but in the end endurance is needed a lot more in-game, along with the rowing i do, explosive strength doesn't have much sway.

Haha, depends what you need the abs for bro. If they're there so you can take off your shirt at the beach and look godlike you'll be doing a routine different to me =)

beginning of april when i first started lifting i couldn't bench 145. Now i can bench 275, squat 315 and deadlift 335. My weight has been pretty constant though....im 5'11, started out 215 now im 195..

when i was about 20, I was really chybby (around 90 kg). But then I started to jogg on a daily basis and lost about 20kg in 7-8 months or so. Unfortunately, I trampled in to a deep depression in the end and gained it all up...
to be truthful, I gained more than I lost, almost 30kg...O.o... in about a year!
To be fair, I have lost about 10-12 kg again with the help of a good diet. But even thou I really want to start running again I find it really hard as I loose sight of my goal so fast (part of the depression I guess), and then just give up:/... to find motivation is a bitch some times, and is most defiantly what i find the hardest...

Burnt off fat, replaced with muscle?

Otherwise that sounds pretty fucking impossible lmao. Your muscles would be in effect twice as large, if your lifting capacity almost doubled.

125kgs is a lot to benchpress dude, thats pretty impressive.

welll i worked out 6 days a week 3 for upper, 3 for lower. I would spend prolly around 1 to 1.5 hrs in the gym (did cardio after lower body days and swam after upper body days).

but i think the most important part was that i never cheated, and my lifting partner was very supportive. If it wasn't for him i'd prolly be lifting 1/2 - 3/4 of what im lifting now...

5'6" 220 by last Feb's start, now 152, aiming for 150 by month's end. Fellow fatties take note: I lost this much weight without even exerting too much effort. I fucked around. I had cheat weeks (!). I made a lot of excuses and pussied my way out.Doubtless, a more focused and driven individual would be ripped as fuck by now. It's not easy, but it's very simple. Just keep that in mind.

Only regret: not doing any strength training at all so now in danger of ending up skinny-fat. Will rectify that soon enough, time willing.

Was a husky kid who hated physical exertion my whole life. Finally got up to 240lbs thanks to prednisone and Carl's Jr. Realized my shit was way out of control and that I'd never be confident like this. Cut out french fries and switched to diet sodas. Took it easy until my predisone dose could be lowered, then started walking/jogging around a park. Walked past a gym one day, decided to join.

Googled around, found Venuto's book and made it my bible. Did fasted cardio in the morning, then lifted weights at night 5 days/week. Ate low "net" carbs (high fiber) and high protein seven meals a day. Carbed up on the weekends. Got down to a relatively lean 154lbs. Got laid for the first time in years.

That was 4 years ago. Have kept it around 155-165, aside from some fluctuations due to illness and surgery.

I fell in a bonfire and was hospitalized for near a month. I was on a morphine drip most of the time and when I was released from the hospital I was still on heavy pain-killers for a month or two.

At the time I was in wrestlers shape at 172, I dropped to 140 due to the inability to eat or really go outside. Once I could finally eat again, my metabolism was totally fucked and I ballooned up to 230 despite barely being able to eat anything.

Eventually I got a job as a valet and just ran non-stop while eating HUGE meals at the buffet and dropped to 190.

Trying to finish off the last ten or fifteen pounds of fat and put on some more muscle.

started skinny, got bigger.

From Fatty fat fat to athlete (and a 6 to 9 on hotornot.com)

Run, eat your whole grains, drop the sodas.

Work out every day, whether it be a set of curls, benching, running, or stacking a few chords of firewood. Take breaks when you start to feel pain (not just tired) in those areas.
