wrist and ankle weights Anonymous
Alright /fit/ I need some DIY suggestions.

I need some instructions on how to make some wrist and ankle weights (5 & 10 lbs) I have access to plenty of materials, a sowing machine, plus a whole bunch of random crap.

So, go for it, I'm looking for general ideas, I can refine things pretty easily.

Buy a pair of steelcap boots and go run in those instead.

I heard ankle weights and arm weights will make your kicks and punches harder, so you can like blow people up with swirling sphere punches. You also get faster because the weight makes you go super speed, lulz.

TL;DR Naruto sucks

Get a good backpack and put some supplies in it. Walk with that on. Increase the weight incrementally. You might want to get a bag of sand to put in it when you get really strong.

Stupid anime training bullshit. Any sort of weight at all will go straight to damaging your knees.

If you're knew to the fitness world you won't take warnings of joint injury very seriously... until you're asking your doctor if your insurance covers cortisone shots for your tendonitis.

Something an instructor in DEP keeps telling us is "work smarter not harder" and if I myself had heard this advice sooner I wouldn't be sidelined by tendonitis in both knees (running with weighted backpack on concrete) and one elbow (too many pushups on hard surfaces) right now.

As far as tendonitis goes, I think you just have really shitty luck.

You're blaming tendonitis on my shitty luck? All right then funny man, we're done here.

Everyone has already given you fair warning of joint issues that would arise from this but you seem fairly ardent in not heeding our advice. You go ahead and make your wrist and ankle weights, run your ass off with them. We'll see how your "luck" holds up.
