dear /fit/ I've just started to do the stronglift 5x5 routine, but have come into a snag.I don't have the equipment to do the dips and the the amount of weight to do dead lifts. I was wondering what exercises i could substitute in for them.As equipment goes, I have a Barbell with a maximum weight of 65 lbs (including the bar) and a bowflex blaze (hand-me down from a generous neighbor)Anything /fit/ can recommend would be appreciated.
Read The Naked Warrior by Pavel Tsatsouline
invest in a cheap olympic barbell from ebay or similar.
you cannot do 5x5 with that equipmentnot enough weight for any of the exercises
bowflex will not give you benefits of barbell AT ALLit is an entirely different thingi.e., you cannot use a bowflex 'chest press' or whatever to replace bench press in the program
>>128653well shit... What do you recommend i do/actions I take with the equipment that i have?
>>128661Here's what you do: sell that shit and buy some useful fucking shit.Olympic Barbell + Weights. Invest in a power rack or build something to support squatting, lest you be stuck to only squatting how much you can clean. That and buy a bench.
>>128671ugh... so the bowflex is useless?there's no way of putting it to use at all while i have it?i can't sell it cause it's still a gift from my neighbour/etc etc
>>128689It's useless. You can use it if you want, but if you do so for too long it will cause muscle imbalances.
If you want to do it seriously, join a gym, or buy a barbell, starting weights and a rack.Should be available at 300 $.
I've done multiple sports and the lesson I learned:Do not save money on proper equipment.Equipment comes first!
>>128699>>128708>>128690Well i guess I know what my next paycheck is going to.I guess I'll just keep running and maybe do the maximum i can do with what I have for now. Thanks, /fit/
>>128639OP here again, I may look into this book as well. One of my personal goals was to do those one-handed pushups. They've always looked badass to me.
>>128633ICELAND!
>>128783one handed chinups are way cooler
