Alright /fit/ so I have backne, although not nearly as bad as the person in the pic, but still. Here's the thing: I'm planning on going on Accutane, but I would like to know if there is anything else I could do that's not so bad for my body. I heard all kinds of shit about Accutane, I don't know what's true about it and what isn't, but I know it can't be too good for me.

Ask your doctor if Accutane is right for you. Seriously. Accutane has different effects on different individuals. Some (one of my friends) have no adverse side effects while anon here has reported severe adverse side effects.

What I do know about Accutane, is that it is potentially dangerous enough where you are required to take blood tests and get your blood checked every week.

Also ask your dermatologist if you have any keiloids. Those look a lot like acne (but they are swollen and feels like smooth edged) on your back, and those are treatable without going through accutane.

Getting on a regular sleep schedule and 20-30 minutes will work wonders for your acne all over your body.

Tetracycline is safer if you haven't used it already. To keep my acne in control i take my tetracycline, use some salicylic acid wash and then put benzoyl peroxide (10%) for spot treatment.

Accutane made me horribly depressed for about a year. I developed a nervous tick while on accutane, that I STILL have (cant stop tensing my back). That may or may not be related. Horrible depression, really bad bloody noses during and for 3 years afterwards. Very dry skin. Oh, did I mention the depression? The kind of depression where someone saying they are busy (which would normally just make you go "ok ill call back later") instead turns into a soul crushing moment? I wish I had never gone on the stuff.

But atleast my acne cleared up! Seriously, lol, the stuff cleared it up. But still. not worth it in the end, I think. *shrug*.

I couldn't wear my contact lenses when I was on Accutane, since my eyes were always dried out. Same for my lips, make sure you get lip balm... I ended up with the Grand Canyon on my lips... very painful.

when you're washing the conditioner or shampoo out of your hair flip your head over so that your looking at your knees and rinse out the conditioner this way. The conditioner contains oils that clog pores and the shampoo contains detergents that irritate your skin.

should clear up in about 3-4 weeks.
