The only negative calorie food is Ice cold water. THe body expends several calories (which are defined as the amount of energy needed to heat water) heating the water up to usable levels once you injest it. Since water has no calories = negative calories. This would only really be something like 200 calories for a gallon of icewater but in the long run that can be handy.

Foods that are realllly high in fiber are often not fully digested which is why they seem to have less affect on weight gain despite sugar content and calories.

Proteins in all form take some energy to process so eating them with carbs slows the whole process down and is a pretty healthy solution to eating lots.

So drink tons of cold water and eat several meals throughouts the day all of htem including protein but only maybe 3/4 of them with carbs. and those carbs should be vegetables or fruit.

This isn't common at all, i really want to point that out before i type the next part.

My wife had 3 months of "period" bleeding caused by aspertane (eh spelling) It was prett yfcuked up, doc's had no clue how to stop it, then we saw something on the net about periods and aspartane (again spelling) and she quit drinking diet ssoda's and BAM period went back to normal. And as a added twist, a friend of hers had the same thing happen 3 months later, and she quit diet sodas and BAM good as new. Just thought id share that because its not all good.

Supposedly 'steel cut" retain more nutrients because they are essentially raw and haven't been heated/steamed and flattened like rolled or quick cook oats. which probably means they are a bitch to cook and need soaking all night unless you like hard chewy oats, I'm not sure, Ive never had them. But even rolled oats take a while to cook.
health nuts might claim them to have benefits because you might be getting some more nutrients but in all essence it doesn't make a difference as part of a balanced diet.
Maybe if you ate nothing but oats for a year then you might see the difference 'steel cut" makes.
