Hai guise

I just inherited what I think is an old army kit bag off my friend. It's about 4-5ft tall and cylindrical shaped. I'm thinking, load it up with 20-25kg of weight, put it across my shoulders, and go running with it. Benefits of this? No pic of item included, couldn't find camera battery.

Changing the subject slightly, weighted running. Yes, No? Ideas?

Benefits?

Sore back and put you off any training for a few days. I did the same thing with free-weights in a backpack, doesnt work. It puts too much pressure on your neck and spine and i had a painful injury for 3 days resulting in not being able to turn my head much.

Build it up, start with 5-10kg and build it up over 4 weeks.

Yeah, starting on 20kg seemed a little off, so if I start low and build up, will I still risk back problems?

Injury doesn't sound too sexy to me

bad idea

what about running with leg weights?

Running with weights only makes you better at running with weights.

Also, the bag you posted is a flight bag and would be terrible for any sort of running or even really walking with it over long distances. If you had a rucksack or something like it with good back support and a good mid strap to take the pressure off the shoulders then it might be a different story.

TL;DR: Don't run with that bag.

Just make it into a sandbag and you'll get much better use from it.

DO NOT RUN with it. It's the fastest way to injure yourself. If done at a fast walk, you could burn more calories than jogging (while also building strength and endurance).

Ignore these little faggots who say it will give you back problems, it will actually strengthen your back.

However, you'd be better off with a proper pack.

I was about to rage and then you merely suggested getting a proper bag. Thus, you win an internet.

Run with weights, but not with that. Get something with good back support and doesnt flail about when you run.
