You're right not to trust them. Chinese food, even food that looks like whole unmolested food, is filled with MSG, salt and oxidized cooking oils like canola or roasted sesame. You don't want any of that shit in your body.
What you can do, however, is what I do. Chop up a chicken breast, steam some quick and easy veggies from frozen, pour on a tablespoon of cold-pressed sesame oil and Chinese all-spice, and you have yourself a healthy alternative.
The only thing is... it takes effort. So... like.. most people aren't going to do it.
