ex-rower here as well, depending on how you stroke (yes bring it on) you can build different areas of strength. My legs and arms are very long so i almost never had to lean back at the finish because all crew mates were shorter and their laying back finish was about as long as my legs and arms stroke. Because of this I was a monster in the sprint and on the erg, my shoulders got really big from constant sprint training indoors during the winter, legs were always big and got stronger and tighter. And the full body motion really slimed me down, my gut has never been so small. and from now on rowers post your personal best 2k and split
