Who here takes SSRIs?

I'm eighteen, female, and have been on Zoloft consistently since age 10. I've also never experienced intense sexual urges, much less an orgasm.

I feel like I'm missing out on something fun, and I'm really scared that my medicated state has fucked me over (no pun intended) sexually for life.

Any similar experiences/horror stories? Should I resign myself to my fate as sexually dysfunctional?

I'm 23, female and I've been on SSRIs since I was 18. I was so depressed I had zero sex drive anyway, so when I went on them I actually got MORE horny. This led to me getting a boyfriend and the sex is absolutely fine.

Christ, you're 18. If you're really depressed and you're on meds and you don't feel any intense sexual urges, it MIGHT NOT BE THE MEDS. It could be that you have continued depression or issues with your sexuality. Talk to your doctor about this, but DO NOT STOP TAKING THE MEDS without your doctor's approval and supervision. Trying to go off your meds suddenly is hell!

SSRI's will fuck you up that way. My friend had the same problem.

Try natural aphrodisiacs or something.

I find it kind of funny the people who stop taking the drugs turn into psychopaths. makes you wonder if they would have been better off not started the drugs in the first place

>psychopaths
Psychopaths/sociopaths are always the most interesting people.

disagree, those people think in past tense. normal people think in present tense. smart people think in futures

If you feel that your medication is suppressing your sex drive, talk to your psychiatrist and she or she can start you on different antidepressants that are known to have less of an effect on the libidio, like Wellbutrin. Antidepressants may also cause retarded ejaculation in males.

As someone else noted, some antidepressants may have the opposite effect on people, and actually experience greater sex drive. Depression is a real big mood killer.

There is also the possibility that the antidepressants aren't effecting your sex drive and that you really don't have one, whether on medication or not.

In all cases, just talk to your damn doctor. Believe it or not, doctors are there to help you. It's not like you had a damn clitorectomy.

What the fuck are you talking about?
True Psychotic/Sociopathic conditions have nothing to do with thinking in past/present tense.

Hell Sociopathic is mainly diagnosed by a disassociation with morality and basic human emotions, this has nothing to do with thinking in past tense or whatever you were talking about, but is simply the inability to realize what is wrong with brutally killing and mutilating someone.

Have the same problem, Been on Zoloft for at least half a decade and the lack of sexual urges is true. (Unless you have a girl really fawning over you with her hand down your pants)

But yeah, unless you experiment like me an d try cold turkey (Not advisable because you become extremely lethargic and suicidal for at least a week before your body adapts (So unless you have massive will power to survive it, I wouldn't advice that)

Don't worry about having a sex life, it's really overrated after you try it. Course I have the problem where I can only ejaculate when I do it myself, never happened with a partner even if they've been trying for hours.

Regardless, with your current mindset, you aren't missing out and you're still young, so don't fret about not getting sex. It's one of those things that looks awesome because everyone's doing it, but it loses the pazas afterwards.

I've gone on and off SSRIs without my doctors consent twice, neither of them have rarely had much noticeable effect, even after 3 months of escalating dosages. (Zoloft, Strattera)

Adderall on the other hand... omg its just you who gives way less-of-a-shit about doing work you would normally despise in a pill... more commonly we refer to this as meth... and scientists/lawyers/asskickers have been taking tiny dosages to make themselves more awesome for awhile... only fools fall victim to addiction.

27 yr male here been taking risperidol since i was 19, been taking seroquel off and on since then too.

I am most likely worse than you pussy but i dont go crying to doctors for drugs you weakling shit.

Try a different antidepressant. Zoloft is notorious for it's libido crushing side effects. However, you may end up with another equally annoying side effect instead.

Don't want to feed a troll, but I believe I mentioned that I
began medication at age ten, due to panic attacks, hyperventilating, and shit like that. I remember my parents taking me to a number of behavioral therapists before deciding that medication was the best option, and I've just never gotten off Zoloft since.

Or maybe that is being a pussy, I don't know.

As a person who takes anti depressants ... well I can't deny this is most likely true for a good part of the whiny population who are around 16 years old and sad because they ______ (enter stupid shit here)

I'm mostly on them to counter the RAGE effects of adderall. Yes, I'm taking a medication because of another medication. What a load of shit. I never should have taken anything in the first place.

Eh, ignore him. He's one of those Anon's that's become obvious by talking about how awesome he is for being an undedicated psychopath, then two posts later quoting and clicking the link a whole bunch of times.

Amen. Think how many people dealt with far worse shit before anti-depressants existed. Bunch of weak-minded pussies these days.

After I went cold turkey, my sex drive returned, so it's probably the Zoloft. As I said before, sex is overrated so don't get bent out of shape because of it. If you really want to have sex, find an escort service, or just find someone who goes to /fit/ often. Either that or /k/, they are on the level even though they'd rather sleep with their guns than a woman.
>> Anonymous
So you're saying you've never experienced sexual urges or and orgasm?

....Yeah, sounds like you're a woman alright

But seriously though, talk to your doctor if you're absolutely incapable of those things. Chances are you might not even need the meds anymore anyways
