hey /fit/ i have a problem.

I'm a heavier set guy and have been getting into exercising to lose weight and i have been doing walking, jogging and some light sports. I'll probably switch to lower impact cardio for the time being because they say its better on my joints.

my question is: after a lot of walking and/or game playing the arches of my feet hurt like a mother fucker. is it my shoes? i don't have any special kind, should i get arch supporting shoes?

tl;dr: my arches hurt, should i get better shoes?

throw some arch supports into your old shoes?

its the shoes. I was a product tester for nike basketball and they gave me these shitty things
( air force 180s basketball btw) and they killed me using them. Probably need arch support of some kind.

Think of your shoes like a car. You service your car every so many miles, and you should replace your shoes every so many miles too.

If the shoes are the same shoes you've been wearing for the last 2 years, then get yourself a new pair for working out. Something that's comfortable and has an arch tends to be best. It doesn't have to be athletics, but it certainly doesn't hurt to get athletics either.

Think of your shoe like the shock absorber for all the joints in your feet, knees, and hips. If you've worn out your shocks, then you need to replace them. I'm a Canada fag though, and don't feel like converting KM into Miles, but I'd say every 3,000 or so Kilometres you walk you should be getting new shoes (or replacing inserts).

Maybe switch to cycling for some time, let your feet regenerate.

Yeah, it's arch supports. Try getting ones with a higher heel too.
