<--- How accurate are these things, /fit/?
Because I'm a 90 lb, 5'5" male and they say I have ~29% body fat. Which is super worrying considering: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Skinny-Persons-Can-be-Obese-Inside-54507.shtml.

If those things are accurate, how can I cut down my body fat safely. I can't exactly LOSE weight, per se, so is there a certain way of working out that is particularly effective at swapping fat for muscle? I already sort of work out: run 2 miles 4x a week and swim laps for 45 min 2x a week. What else should I be doing?

They are off by a few percentages.
But good for keeping track of your progress.

So it's highly likely that I _am_, in fact, both underweight and obese. That's fucking peachy

That

you should be eating more and lifting more

dude what the hell try that again.

i'm a pretty skinny dude, 125 lb 5'7. told me i have ~4% body fat.

that's probably not a good thing either, right?

those things are usually fairly accurate but you have to make sure you're using them right so if it's one of those feet ones you have to take off your shoes and shit like that

also if you drink alot of water you can fuck around with the readings. in some of those machines they also have a setting for elite athelites which assumes you to be healthier and changes the results as well.

that and get fit

Least accurate way of measuring bodyfat, unless the person using calipers on you is retarded. That said its a good way to keep track of progress but don't take its numbers as fact.
>> Anonymous
you have to measure without making any type of exercise before or it wont be acurate

do it after you sleep

they're shit. my slim friend tried to use one and it switched off. he's still alive, so i don't trust it.

I've got one aswell from Lloyds pharmacy. Happy with their other electronic products so far, so i assume this is legit aswell.

I'm 5'10 and around 235lb. It say's im down to 29.5% body fat, 50% water and about 66% muscle.

As said above me, yes i do it after sleep. I was around 36% body fat over 1 month ago and was at least 14lb heavier.

Do you think these things can be at least accurate on the basis of how much you have lost?

Cheers. It just seemed odd with the results that i was down from 36% BF to 29.5% and had gained about 2% muscle. I was under the assumption no matter what my diet was, regardless of if i get enough protein to sustain muscle or not i would be losing muscle aswell as fat.

Pure shit. Get measured by someone who knows what they are doing with calipers.

if you do exercise before measuring it will be always off.

it can be acurate it you do it properly.
