Sports for fitness Anonymous
Let's face it: most people just don't have the discipline to jog everyday. Its more fun to just play soccer. Most people aren't interested in weight lifting, but would gladly do it for rugby, shot putting, etc. Sports is the best way to get fit.

ITT: the sports you play(ed)

Swimming: great for cardio, low impact. A great sport of all ages & fitness abilities. Downside: its boring, back and forth all day with your head down, holding your breath. I was a year-round competitive swimmer for 14 years.

Water polo: takes a lot of dedication. You have to be a good swimmer, ball handler. Gotta be good at taking & giving contact, you'll need explosive treading & spriting ability. Hard to pick up if you're an adult, but if you're still in high school, try it out, it'll toughen you up. I played 6 years.

Basketball: lowest barrier of entry. If you show up to a public court, chances are someone's gonna ask you to play a pick up game. Full-court games are good cardio, half-court are good for working on your moves. In just 9 months, I picked up every move (except dunking). My current sport.

I only do swimming. Most other sports are teamwork, which I can't handle, because I can't stand failing other people. The other solitary sports, like track, just bore me, while I find swimming underwater to be exhilarating.

eh that's not a good reason to avoid team sports. everyone who's ever played has failed at some point, so people are going to be forgiving to newbies. Opposite of 4chan

I used to do kickboxing, but I had to have surgery. After I recovered, I couldn't really keep up with the class any more.

I played football (cornerback) and wrestled in high school. After I joined the Army, I picked up some racquetball.

Let's face it: starting anything with "Let's face it:" is like being a damn hack writer in the lifestyle section of a small town newspaper.

Football, wrestling, I did the shotput and discus also.

I lift weights because I'm strong already, and I love the feeling of getting done with working out.

I played basketball and I also played kickboxing. The latter is the most fun I've ever had, though getting owned by the team captain sucks

muscles don't need to heal. you can jog as much as you want as long as your knees/ankles/hips don't hurt.

I play volleyball with a group of people I hang out with twice a week. It's nice and enjoyable. At least I'm moving. With my friends back home, we play disc golf. A pleasant walk with more to do than just walking.

Otherwise I play ultimate frisbee, because I'm ambidextrous but only when throwing a frisbee, and I'm tall so I can sky other people more easily. I also love floor hockey, but that's because I didn't really pick up hockey at a young age like my brother and don't have the strongest skating skills compared to anyone else who still plays hockey. Plus the equipment is fucking expensive. Floor hockey you just need a stick. I fucking love floor hockey.

Both are great cardio. I want to take a boxing class this summer, and do some rock climbing at my local rock wall.
