Hi /fit/,
The wonderful piece of engineering that used to heat the water for the bathroom died some weeks ago. For reasons too long to explain it won't be fixed. Cold shower is hard and only cold shower everyday is harder. Not so long ago people never bathed so.. Am I risking anything with cold shower ? I mean .. is it healthy to decide that from now on it's only cold shower ? Mentally healthy and physically. Can I only wash myself with cold shower for a minute or two (longer and I die).. warming water on the kitchen magical blue flames is taking too long (and i still need to rinse with cold water after that so why bother waiting for the water to heat ?).

Moreover, do I win any hardcore, health or chick points for doing this ?

Its good. The body always tries to maintain homeostasis. When you introduce rapid temperature changes, such as the shock of a cold shower, the brain will raise the body's temperature to fever levels, to combat the cold water. This high heat will kill all sorts of nasty things inside your body. Just don't stay in too long or you risk hypothermia.

Google 'body tempering'.

Thanks.
And regarding washing, is there anything I should pay more attention to ? Cold shower tend to be shorter and I don't feel as 'clean' and good-smelling as with hot shower although if I smell myself 10 minutes later it seems to be okay.

You should focus a good scrub down on the smelly parts, like the arm pits and kootch. The head and feet should be a secondary target.

The Romans perfected the basics of cleanliness. Hot water to open up the pores, apply cleaning agent, scrub dirt off, then jump into cold water to close pores around cleaning agent. You can do the same thing in a shower when you get your heater working again.
