Metabolism wut? Anonymous
So /fit/ I'm really quite confused right now..

As of the last week I started working out way more and eating a really balanced, healthy, and about 70% organic diet.
My caloric intake lands around 1200-1300.
That caloric intake amount is normal for me. But like I said earlier, I've been trying to balance and eat healthier now.
Anyways, in the last two days when I eat I'm starved about two hours afterwards. When I usually would be full for a good 4-5 hours after eating.
So my question is why am I starving? Is this my metabolism speeding up or what? And is this healthy?
(I'm a girl 5'4 and 118 lbs.)

Pic unrelated.

You'll actually gain more by doing that. Your metabolism will at some point kill itself and go the speed of snails fucking.

Uhh, this is a girl.

my girlfriend is 5'5" and 120. If she was putting weight on for anything other than muscle I would complain.

Caloric deficit isn't the game when you're already kind of small. You have to eat enough so that your body slowly sucks fat, instead of quickly zapping whatever muscle you have. If you're exercising, I'd say you need to be eating about 1500-1600 minimum.

First, you're not eating enough.

Second, you pretty much answered your own question:

>As of the last week I started working out way more

What do you think happens when you work out?

Normally I would say to spread your meals out so that you eat more often by less each meal. Eat every three hours AT THE MOST. In your case, don't spread the meals out though, I would simply eat more. Add two decent sized snacks to your diet every day (about 300 calories each) and put those snacks in between breakfast and lunch and then in between lunch and dinner.

You simply are not eating enough for someone who exercises. This will have negative effects and could very well make you end up being one of those flabby skinny-fat people who are twiggy in muscle yet flabby at the waist area.

I should note that I used to be a fatty. Like 148 lbs was my peak. I lost the weight from eating 900 calories a day.

And this was 2-3 years ago. But anyways, I'll try to eat more.

More protein. You can not gain muscle and lose fat without a lot of protein. Even so. You simply are not eating enough. Your body is probably already in starvation mode with your current diet and the exercise you're getting is probably just eating away at your muscles.

Here's any easy way to eat things good for you while getting more protein. Drink 2 Naked brand "protein" drinks a day. One at the very beginning of your day and one just after you've worked out.

That's about 600 calories right there. The protein should help develop a little more muscle and it's mostly fruit cards and sugars you're getting.

No, it's just a brand that I know the exact qualities of. I'd recommend ANY protein drink that has about 300 calories and high amounts of protein but I know that some brands are kind of bogus, where as I know Naked is legit with putting in what they say they've put in.

Yea...you gotta watch that big of a calorie deficit. Around christmas of last year, I was slimming down for some pictures I was having taken and I was down to two muscle milks a day and tons of cardio. Burnt out HARD and looked great, but the second I started eating normal food/calories I gained a ton of weight because I'd decimated my metabolism.

Not only that, but you might think you've gained like crazy because you put your digestive system pumping at normal capacity again, which is just going to make you seem larger--not necessary more fat, it's just when you were eating shit nothing, it was all caved in and seemed smaller with no muscle to push it out.

A week of a "high" calorie deficit isn't going to kick you into starvation mode.

Why does everyone on this board feel the need treat SM like a common cold?
