But start light and use high reps (15-20 per set) and slow, deliberate movements. Your first month or so will be establishing good form you will use for a lifetime.
Finally, write everything down. What you eat, when you workout. It seems like a pain, but it helps a lot in achieving your goals. I use fitday.com because it remembers recent foods and activities (and allows custom items).
