5x5 good for Getting bigger muscles? Anonymous
Hey /fit/, I'll keep this short.

5x5 good for Size or strength?

Pic urelated, but you can keep it.
>> Anonymous
both. You'll definatley get a fuck of alot stronger and bigger. You might not gain as much muscle as a more hypertrophy oriented routien but who the fuck cares? You'll get more muscle overall because compound exercises > isolation exercises.

sorry..let me be more specific..i just realized how incoherent that post sounded... you won't get a "peak" in your biceps as much as you would following some muscle mag workout but compound exercises large groups of muscles and a variety of muscles at the same time. So while you might not get a specific muscle bulging, you will overall have a larger frame due to larger mass

Usually Mark Rippetoe's or Stronglifts.com exercise routine

5X5 = five sets and five reps. It's a great way to get strong as fuck. It gives the exercise both volume and mass. Many people make the mistake of going off the deep ends: 15 rep workouts or nothing but 3 reps of heavy as deadlifts. 5X5 is a great mix.

No, i mean what exactly does he mean by 5x5 increasing muscle.

i dont know what you're asking? 5X5 is a workout method..you do five reps X five sets. It's mainly used for strength but depending on diet and other factors, it can really do well for weight gain as well.

Heh, my question was answered.
What about swimming laps? That is probably unrelated, but I swim around 50 laps in 45 minutes, breast stroke and freestyle. AM I BULKING UP.

3 reps is okay.
10x3 is good for pro's

5x5 is good for the majority of people who workout. Good for moderate size (not as good as 8-10 reps), but still good for strength (not as good as 3 though)

Also, I think Rippetoe does 3x5 I think. Stronglifts does 5x5 and some other bodybuilders do 5x5 as well.

What exercise ?x? should i do just for as much mass as possible?
>> Anonymous
eh i'd say go 8-10X3. Make sure you stick with compound exercises (deadlifts, squats, pull ups, rows, bench, OHP) and eat a ton of clean food.

5x5 of like what weight? The most you can lift or something?

No that would mean you can only do 1 rep

do 5 reps with a weight that will get you near breakdown after the 5th rep

I gained 6 pounds in a month doing 5x5 and my bf% went down a bit.
I'm sticking with stronglifts here.

How much rest should you take between each 5?

1 min between sets. And I assume 3 min between different exercises.
