Hey /fit/, I live in England and I'm looking for a new gym, any suggestions?

I live near a Total Fitness, a JJB gym, and probably a few other places too. I'm looking for somewhere with people who actually squat and a decent selection of equipment.

A place full of girls like the one in my pic would be nice too, is there a better motivation?

Virgin has good selection of equipment but is cripplingly expensive.

I'm afraid Nicky Whelan is from Australia, but a good gym chain is LA Fitness.

PROTIP: girls in the gym are there for the exact same thing as you; WORKOUT !!.
Dont fucking stare at them or anything, then you're just a shitty as the rest of the vain pricks.

please notice, im not a chick

OP here, they're motivational because I look like shit by comparison, so I want to work harder. When I'm in the gym I like to focus on what I'm doing.

LA fitness seems female oriented, all of the classes and programmes are related to getting skinny, there's nothing about building a large muscle base.

THIS CONCEPT OF FEMALE ONLY GYMS BOTH CONFUSES AND INFURIATES US

If there are cardio bunnies in your gym then you need to change gyms.

This is exactly why I try to go to the gym at really early/late hours so I don't run into fuckers who want to stare at you when you work out. Girls are just as guilty of doing this.

-.- people stare at me lift weights. especially benching, don't expect a 19 year old to be doing so much. makes me happy inside

And I forgot to add,
Just take is as the compliment it is when people look at your body in the gym.
Women are so damn butthurt about this.

OP here, some of the local gyms have a free trial day so I think I'll shop around. What should I look out for when trying to find a decent gym? I know to look for a squat rack, benches, something I can use for dips/pulldowns, but is there anything else?

My goal once I start is to put a lot more muscle on, and then start cutting after a few months.

David Lloyds are very well equipped (full dumbell set up to 40kg, multiple olympic bars, alot of plates and racks) and very nice gyms (steam room's, saunas, nice showers, nice pools), also alot of hot wimmenz but it is fucking expensive (£60+~ a month)

ridiculously expensive.

Try a gym that's near a college/university. Maybe one on campus. I pay $12 CAD/Mo. for the gym on campus. Hella cheap.

haha

Just go visit gyms. The one i go to takes me 5 minutes of walking. Power racks are always available, so like, i'm in heaven. Nowadays i only see that powerlifter guy, that half-squat girl who squats 10lbs more than me and that girl who holds the bar by its ends. I have gotten a bunch of praises and spotting offers, wich is kinda nice, but it usually talking breaks my mental focus.

Hahahaha you people and your paying of gyms. I goto a D1 school, Rutgers and we have 4 gyms on campus. The largest has 2 pools one indoor one outdoor.

OP here, I'm off to work now so thanks for the advice, I think I'll book a few trial days and see what I think.

You are paying for your gym via university fees. Did you ever think about that?

muscleworks on the bethnal green road is the best free weights gym in the city. no women tho because of their testosterone factor theory. second best are soho gyms which used to be faggot-based but plenty of hot birds at the waterloo and camden ones. you're there to work out though so stay focused on that. you want a good weight rack and both of those are the best imo
