Since I can remember, I've always had dark circles under my eyes. No matter how much I sleep, they will still be there (they get more intense if I don't sleep well, nevertheless).

Is there any way to get rid of them? Surgery, treatments, voodoo? Or I am destined to carry them like a junkie/party animal?

I'm male, by the way.

I'm female. I have them too, I think its just genetic. I've tried every kind of vitamin/lotion/cream and my only solution is to cover them up with make-up, sorry. :(

Friend of mine swears by the clinque stuff, but personally only had so-so results with it.

That clinique stuff has never worked for me, neither has anything else I've tried. It's more than likely genetic, your only solution is makeup.

If that makes you feel girly, you could always try a "tinted moisturizer".

sleep, yeah i used to get them, cuz of the exam/report week from university.
the only cure for it is sleep try to sleep straight 8-9 hours a day, and before midnight cuz your body clock won't work if you sleep pass midnight. And it won't work if you think if you just sleep for a day, it usually took 2-3 weeks, but it took only 4-7 days to get your panda eyes.

I'v stayed up for 3-4 days at a time a few times, i'v done a week running on ~ 3 hours sleep while trying to reverse my sleep pattern (waking up at dawn instead of going to be then) and not once during this time did i get any sign of purple under my eyes, either i'm lucky or it's not entirely sleep related.

Dark circles are caused by the flow of blood which is visible through the thin skin under the eyes. It can be caused by tiredness, certain allergic reactions, illness and well, having a thin skin.

The reason popular eye creams work against dark circles is because the cream injects water into the skin cells, causing it to make it fatter and become opaque. It's also the reason why your skin looks "paler" after a shower.

It's the same way white flowers and polar bears look white: both the petals on a white flower and the polar bear fur are transparent but hollow. In the case of the flower, the foam is filled with water. As for the polar bear, it's air itself.

TL;DR: Sleep with a wet eye mask every night. If you don't own one, a folded up towel works well too.
