SQUATZ YoungBuck
Men of /fit/ it is time to tear our shirts off with our massive testosterone bulging muscles and share our knowledge.

Whenever i attempt SQUATZ i here these small like popping sounds in my knees, i've been avoiding SQUATZ fora while for this reason. should i see a doctor or just say fuck it and continue to do SQUATZ?

pick is me being a faggot, no time to anonymize myself

continue for great justice
>> YoungBuck
excuse the amount of faggatory in the pic, i was wasted as shit. T_T

See a doctor. Then pick their ass up and SQUAT them
>> Anonymous
You're supposed to be doing squats with a basketball or soccerball between your knees, and your back against the wall for support. Otherwise, don't do them at all.

This is what my physical therapist told me about SQUATZ after I dislocated my knee joint.

If the popping hurts its a problem and means you have torn cartiledge, If its just popping without pain its nothing, ive had both and arthroscopic knee surgery to correct the torn up stuff and it still pops when i squat it just doesnt hurt anymore.

sufficiently warm your knees, likely the 'popping' is just joint tissue crepitius. likely @ your age this is harmless.

also, squat BACK and down. not just down (unless you are front squatting)

to assist. LEARN TO BOX SQUAT

'westside barbell' and 'elitefts'

those terms + google and shit son, you will lurn
>> Anonymous
Yes, crepitus. Nothing to really worry about.
The same as popping your knuckles.
Warm up.

My knees pop quite a bit, but no pain ever arises from it.

So long as your form is spot on in the squat... knee popping is harmless. If you knee is popping and causing you pain afterwards... you might want to take another look at the way you squat.

I thought crepitus was the crunching sound your bones make when you fracture them.

BONUS NON-OP SQUAT QUESTION:

Is it a decent idea to use the Smith Machine initially until I develop good form, and then move on to the power rack free-style?
>> Anonymous
>>246359

No. The only way to develop good form with squats is to do squats. That means using an unloaded bar, if you have to.

No. Absolutely not. You will not build good form on a Smith machine at all.

Start with the barbell and go from there. Read Starting Strength for excellent pointers on how to squat right.

Sorry about seeming like a troll, but it was my honest question.

I guess I won't even fucking glance at that smith machine when I consider squats now. Thanks.
