Sup /fit/
5'5 20yo 145lb male here,
I've started to get a belly and decided to take action.
About 3 months ago I started riding my bike 5 miles everyday (about 30-40 minutes).
I've also bought 25lb dumbbells to work out my upper body. I can curl about 16 times max before getting tired.

So I have 2 questions:
1. When bike riding, is it better to ride on the side walk or on the road (going with the traffic)

2. Is 25lb enough or should I get heavier weights?

OP here, when I say 16 times max I mean per set, doing 3 sets

1. anyone who tells you to ride on the road are probably the same people who say to play dead when a bear is nearby

2. if you can do 16 reps in 1 set for each arm then you probably need to upgrade to 30 or 35lbs. also you should do more than just curls. do some deadlifts, bench presses, shoulders, and of course SQUATZ

ride on the road, this is what you should do (at least in the UK).

in the US it's on the side walk (especially in the city)
there's little to no car-pedestrian respect, fucking sucks

In Australia, unless you're under 13, you have to ride on the road or in bikelanes.

145 is fine for someone thats 5'5
just because theyre short doesnt mean they have to weight more to try to make up for it with muscle

I prefer riding on the sidewalk since it's just as fast as the street (and safer) and there are usually no people walking around here(San Diego, CA). There are multiple bike paths throughout the county.

Just know that it's illegal to ride your bike in some states, and in CA, it depends on your city/county. San Francisco doesn't allow bikes on the sidewalk.
