/fit/ what is the appropriate weight for someone who is 6' 2''? I tried my height and weight on a bmi calculator but the thing is that it admits that if you have a muscular build it will throw off your BMI. I'm fairly muscular but I do have extra weight. Should I trust the BMI?

no, the bmi wasnt intended to diagnose health problems. wikipedia that shit. I remember hearing penn and teller bitch (well penn anyway) about how stupid it is to use bmi. Honestly, I'd go by body fat. You could probably get away with 230 at 6'2" assuming you do lift and a lot of that is muscle. Look in the mirror not the scale ^_~

How much do you weight OP?

OP here, thanks for the input, I'm close to that 230 mark at like 224 give or take.

You definitely wanna go bf% or just plain looks. It's not that BMI is TOTALLY useless, it's just that any measurement which takes your weight into account is going to be a poor measurement for people who are muscular or even in the process of becoming muscular.

The best measurement, IMO, is taking off all your clothes and looking at yourself in the mirror.

Not OP but similar situation, is there an easy way to deduce bf% and if so what is a reasonable goal?

Calipers/digital calipers. It's recommended you have someone else measure it for you, doctor's should be able to do it for you.

BMI is useless. I'm 18 stone and 6 foot 1, so I'm actually obese. Doesn't take into the account that I'm a rugby player and have a large amount of muscle.
