sup? i work out often and im pretty strong for my height and weight. i lift tons of weight but sometimes i get these weird cramps (or just a pain?) when lifting really heavy weight (example: cramps in between my legs when doing heavy leg curls or cramps in arm pits when doing heavy chest presses).

i can definitely lift the weight but the weird cramps sometimes hurt or i get scared cuz ive torn a muscle before (horrible experience) and i am not going to force myself to lift it and injure myself again.

why is this happening or what can i do to minimize it? i dont drink any shakes or creatine or take supplements or anything like that. sometimes i stretch and sometimes i forget to. im 5'8, 150lb.

thanks

Electrolyte replacement? I know I'll probably be flamed for this, but do you take in enough electrolytes? Possibly having a banana and water before working out would help. Try sipping on some Gatorade G2 or Powerade Zero (if you don't want the sugar in either of those regular drinks) while you are working out. It's just a shot in the dark. Are you drinking enough water? Are you overtraining? Check your form.

if its at all related to this, do yourself a favor and DONT DRINK GATORADE. go to gnc and buy amino vital, it contains everything good your body needs to recover and you can drink it while working out and tastes exactly the same as gatorade

Magnesium and potassium both help with muscle recovery and help them relax.

I'm having similar problems, except its my calves that tighten up at night when I'm sleeping and I wake up in pain (like... a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10) and can't get my muscle to relax normally.

Also, are you drinking enough?

Gatorade only has Sodium and Potassium. I used shit from GNC until they quit making it; I've moved on to Cytomax.
