Looks like someone saw the pulver/faber pre-show.
Having a strong grip isn't going to make you hit any harder, but grip training strengthens your forearms and wrists, which will obviously make you hit harder; and I guess in theory it could add a tiny bit of muscle mass to your hands.
If you want to punch harder, work on your back, shoulders, and hips. Grip training should really be a secondary concern; unless you grapple.
