My brain feels broken Anonymous
I have been feeling really out of it for probably about a year now anon. As in always tired and pretty inattentive at work. I was coping pretty well until a month or 2 ago. Its gotten worse....

- Always tired. No energy.

- Sleep for up to 12 hours on weekends easy. Ill be awake after 8 but just lay there all morning into the afternoon. I always regret it but don't stop

- My mind constantly blanks out. I feel like I'm light headed or buzzed or something almost all the time.

- Ive been spending more and more time alone. The smallest problems with friends or family bug me a lot more then they should

- I used to be an avid reader. Now when ever I try to read I can go over an entire page before realizing I didn't digest a single word.

- I have trouble keeping conversation. I can be coherent typing and writing because I get some time to think about what I say but I feel more and more useless in an actual conversation

My diet could be better but I'm not really in terrible shape or anything. I dont even know the first place to go for this shit....
>> Anonymous
Eat a daily vitamin. What time do you have to be at work?
>> Anonymous
Let me hazard a guess. Would you say that it is correct that you have zero ambition?

No goals, nothing you want to do. Life's just something to get through till you die. Not directly suicidal (you would never kill yourself, it would hurt those around you), but there's no reason to live wo you are just waiting to die. That sound correct?

hmm it varies usually 7 am, up at 6

night shift all next week though 5 pm - 1 am or so.
>> Anonymous
>>334239

Pretty much. I hate my job but I'm not really in a position to quit. I've been looking into night school to kind of get something else going but I'm having a real hard time pulling the trigger on it. I feel like I'm on autopilot and I don't know where the last 2 years since grad have gone.
>> Anonymous
>>334242

So starting today, Monday 9/15, you have to be at work at 5pm? I'll tell you right now that shift work is not good for your health but if you're not getting enough sleep you will feel like shit.

Not OP, but this subject is relevant to my interests.

Could it be ADD?

I sympathize with OP, too...except I get the EXACT opposite one day and then the extreme opposite the next day (or hour). Could be bipolarism, but I'd have to check with my psych.

Keep going, anon, I'm listening.

Not OP, but that's me

I think you may be suffering from depression. I'm having the same problems as you. Working out helps a bit, trust me.
>> Anonymous
>>334248

If anything I end up getting too much sleep for night shifts. It gets to the point where I go to sleep at 2 am and then sleep right until 2 pm then I slack off for 2 hours then go to work again.

I realize it isn't ideal health wise but I can't really get out of it at the moment
>> Anonymous
OP, do you drink?
>> Anonymous
OP, I feel like I have the exact same problem. The only thing I can recommend is that you should hang out with your friends more and be more active. When you feel like canceling on them...just force yourself to go
>> Ramadan Advice Guy !vgy.tRcgZ2
>>334256

That's what I do, too.

Whenever I feel lethargic and demotivated, that's when I kick myself into high gear and force myself to finish/do whatever task I have at hand.

The feeling you get after accomplishing whatever it is you feel like doing in spite of your body's refusal to cooperate is nothing short of awesome.
>> Anonymous
>>334255

On weekends , some wednesdays and in moderation when I do. I almost never get tanked or anything like that.

>>334256

Thats exactly what I've been trying to do but part of me feels like I have nothing in common anymore with a lot of good friends. I been coping pretty well I think but some people have started to say I've been acting strange lately. Thats kind of my inspiration for posting this cause I know its not just my imagination now.

Sounds like you have a form of depression then. I call it realism - the inability to ignore the pointlessness of life.

I would talk to both a psychiatrist and a pastor. Though it's really a roll of the dice whether they'll be good ones or not.

Here's what helps me.

Exercise. I don't do too much, but keeping your body active does help your mind a surprising amount. Walk around for long periods of time, and look at stuff and notice the world.

Help others. Habitat for humanity, peace corps, some sort of volunteer organization. You'll meet other people, and help others.

Get a knife or gun (Never go into the woods unarmed. That's how people get eaten or bitten.), and go wander about in the woods as much as you can. Learn about stuff you can eat, about all the weird insects you find, all the crazy plants. Be wild. You are a machine right now. Learn to surive and thrive, not exist.

I've found the only thing that gives me purpose is having a relationship with God (in b4 christfag).

One of the better posts I've read on 4chan.

I'm religious as well. It really helps make sense out of the senseless, wouldn't you agree?

Keep it up, good sir. The fact that you find it in yourself to post solid advice in the most unlikely of places speaks volumes of your character.
>> Anonymous
>>334267
You are going to catch alot of shit for that, but its decent advice. Living ENTIRELY for yourself is a miserable existence. Set some small goals, success even in small doses is great.
>> Anonymous
>>334267

Its kind of funny you say that because basically the only other person I could really relate too went off the deep end for a couple months and came back up a christian quite recently. I didn't think anyone who had a thorough understanding of religion in general could ever go back but there you go. I don't understand faith I'll be the first to admit. It all makes me very uncomfortable to be honest.
>> Lady !2dLYL36LP.
>>334267
That just motivated me more than you will ever know. (Also someone who depends on a relationship with God)

I've been feeling a lot like OP for the past 2-3 months, had to practically force myself to do anything. But i'm trying to make some changes.

It's hard to do.

Thanks for the kind words. Though I must admit, I'm an incurable troll part of the time, but generally stay in /k/. I'm sure you'll agree that while they are lovable enough, they deserve it. :D

But yeah, I know full well the hopelessness that can slowly creep in. Here's an additional warning: you have a big problem when you begin to enjoy the depression. Not like "Oh hooray, all is hopeless", but more of it becomes who you are, and what you revolve around. Where you are almost subliminally afraid of getting better, because it would be a loss of identity, and you wouldn't know who you are.
>> Anonymous
>>334288

OP here. You really do have good insight on this. It really has kind of started to feel like I have just gotten used to being a zombie. For some reason getting professional help scares me a lot more then doing nothing.

You would be surprised to know that most of the struggles in life are not with other people or other external factors. It's with ourselves and our own weaknesses, doubts and fears.

Force yourself to get some help, and talk to someone outside of thie messageboard. You will feel better about yourself that you're doing something about the problem, abd you'll never know what it was you were afraid of in the first place.

Good luck.

If any of you want, I have added one of my email addresses if any of you have any further questions once this thread is dead.

>>334282
I agree. Personally, religion pisses me off much of the time. And yet I am a christian. Notice how I said relationship with God. If my earlier post didn't cause a shitstorm, this might: all my faith revolves around that God is a being which I can interact with personally. Not just some prick in the sky demanding I do some holy dance to get into his club.

Once you realize true religion is about talking with the being who knows you and gives you purpose, it becomes a lot more palateble. I would call most Christianity in the US "American folk religion".

somehow this has gotten somewhat into christianity. for those of you that like the idea of jesus, but hate church, look for emergent churches or groups around where you live. google emergent village and look for a local cohort. /preaching btw, haven't posted in this thread yet, looks like multiple christfags here, lol

Actually, I have never been to a psych, I mostly just stumbled onto all the things that help by accident. Everything I've talked about is purely from experience, but from what I've read is generally correct, of course, do take it with a grain of salt. Not everything always works.

But I would definitely talk to a family doctor, they will most likely be able to find you someone better than just flipping through the yellow pages.

here's and idea to those who don't get out of bed in the morning when they first wake up. Literally roll off the bed and let your face it the floor. Wakes your ass up automatically and you get up. That's what I do on days that I don't feel like getting out of bed normally.

I don't know if you've ever had a cat, but if you have one that has been inside most of it's live, and then start letting it outside, you'll notice a drastic change in it's face. It's ears and eyes just begin to seem more.. pointy, and wild.

I would definetly suggest what the guy said about going into the forest. I'm not the sort of person that likes bug bites or getting dirty, but it really does help. I found the book "Wild at heart" made me decide to go out into the woods, and I do feel much better.

I have had the same "brain is broken" feeling for about 3 years now.
- I feel physically tired but my never drowsy.
- I cannot sleep for more the 6 hrs and I avg about 3-4 hrs of sleep a night.
- In ref to conversation, I feel incredibly awkward (I never used to) in conversations. If its just between me and another person I find it hard to know when its my turn to speak and at times say things inappropriate to the setting or situation. If its me and 2 or more people I will simply sit there quietly, its as if I was playing double dutch and had no clue how to jump in.
- I have always had concentration issues, never been diagnosed with anything like adhd although I was almost forced to go to a dr. for it by parents and teachers as a child but I repeatedly refused and the subject was dropped.

I would say the best thing to do is go to the family doctor if you have insurance. If you don't have insurance you will just be paying him the 100+ bucks so that he can send you to a Psychiatrist for initial screenings for depression, bipolar, adhd etc. No insurance = ask people you know to refer you to a shrink you'll be surprised how many of your family and friends are seeking professional attention for mental health issues without you knowing it.

AS ENTITIES THAT EVOLVED THE CAPACITY TO THINK RATIONALLY TO EXPLAIN AND MANIPULATE NATURAL PHENOMENA, TO SUBSEQUENTLY LIVE BETTER LIVES BY DOING THIS, ESSENTIALLY HAVING SACRIFICED DOMINANT PHYSICAL AND SENSORY CAPACITY FOR THIS ABILITY, IT IS OUR BIOLOGICAL AND EVOLUTIONARY RESPONSIBILITY TO USE IT TO OUR FULLEST ADVANTAGE.

BELIEVING IN A MAGICAL GOD IS THE OPPOSITE OF THIS, AS YOU ESSENTIALLY MUST THROW OUT REASON AND RATIONALITY TO DO SO. BELIEVING THAT EVERYTHING IS THE RESULT OF A GOD, THAT THINGS DO NOT FOLLOW NATURAL LAWS BECAUSE THEY WERE CREATED AT THE WHIM OF AN ENTITY RESULTS IN YOU LIVING A LIFE ESSENTIALLY NO DIFFERENT THAN A CREATURE WITHOUT THE CAPABILITIES OF HIGHER THOUGHT.

TL;DR YOU JUST SPENT MILLIONS OF YEARS DEVELOPING SOMETHING ONLY TO COMPLETELY REJECT IT AND I CAN'T POSSIBLY IMAGINE HOW THIS CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY. IT'S BASICALLY THE SAME THING AS CHOPPING OFF A LIMB SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WASH IT ANYMORE.

No one of intelligence disagrees with you, Lord of caps lock. You need not become so flustered by the expected ignorance of man, as the Western religious have never been ones to progress their societies, have they? Ignorance is bliss.
>> Dr. Baron von Evilsatan
Or, you idiot, you could accept that rationality and divinity are neither mutually inclusive nor exclusive.

Rationality is the most effective and practical means of finding out what is going on and how this happens. It does fuck fucking all for the why. Religion answers that.

For fucks' sake, God tells people use their brains to analyse things. If you're smart, use your damned smarts instead of hiding them. How the hell is this in any way encouraging ignorance?

Incidentally, not choosing to SCIENCE everything is not a rejection of rationality. It's a fucking rational decision. You have a good eighty years here, and would you rather spend that time thinking about the eighty years or thinking about an eternity afterwards? It's like spending a day considering a door, how it opens, why it opens, and whether or not you should open it when you could open the stupid door and think about the world outside it.

I would ahve much less trouble taking atheists seriously if I coudl find one interested in actual discussion rather than opening the conversation with stating their beliefs as incontrovertible fact and then sticking their fingers in their ears and going LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU the moment someone doesn't accord completely with that view.
