Hey /fit/,

I'm currently bulking and looking for a diet that is relatively cheap and easy to prepare. I've read my diet should consist of around:

3000 total calories
30% protein
50% carbs
20% fat

I've been researching the nutritional information of McDonalds and have found each cheeseburger contains:

284 calories
15.1g of protein
26.1g of carbohydrates
12.7g of fat

3000 calories is very low, unless you're 120 pounds. i eat 3000 calories a day at 160# to maintain my body weight

If that's the case, you have good metabolism. Around 2000-2300 kcal is in the range for what most people needs.

maybe, but if you're 20 then you burn around 1600-2000 calories a day just by staying awake. supplement that with exercise and you're talking 2500-3000, i burn more than 3000 calories a day but for the past month I've been a steady 160-164#

For the same price, you could buy a gallon of whole milk and a dozen eggs and get more calories, cleaner. Everyone still thinks saturated fats are as bad for you as rat poison. 3000 calories is NOT a bulking diet, but you probably will gain some weight if you're used to consuming less. Shoot for 4000, work up to drinking a gallon of whole milk a day, learn to do ass-to-grass squats, and do them 2-3 times a week. You'll bulk.
