I need help. Just about every time I go to the gym I feel good enough about my weight loss that I feel like I've earned a brownie or something. I know thats no way to loose weight. I'm looking for some techniques to combat the urge to eat more good tasting crap.

incorporate one cheat meal every week or, if you're metabolism isn't super-slow, a cheat day. that should help you stave off the cravings.

.... get some self control? It's not hard
I mean remove all the bullshit from your pantry and fridge, that's not hard either.

If you can't get yourself to stop buying bad shit or cheating with fast food then I don't know what to say

What he said. 1 everything-goes day (don't go overboard) helps to kill off cravings throughout the rest of the week. If once a week is not enough, try to tone it down in a slower pace, like going from sweets 4x a week to 3x or 2x a week and eventually, 1x.

Find another way of rewarding yourself. I splash out on nice things every now and then when I reach a personal goal; a computer game, some clothes, new computer hardware. Stuff like that, do something you'd feel guilty doing otherwise and tell yourself it's for doing well.

Yea I like those ideas. The tough part for me is I'm in college and dining halls have rows of all that good stuff just a finger tip away.

You got to be strong! Tell yourself that being lean will feel better than that stuff tastes. There's no easy way to stop wanting that kind of food, it's most people's favorite evolutionarily. Remeber that there are people out there quitting heroin and cigarettes.

Eat cakes and sweets once or twice a week, it won't kill you

actually, if you eat/drink something with lots of protein in it you will not feel as hungry for sugary foods.

This is surprisingly true--you should give it a try.

WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOUR BODY, YOU LOSE.

Set your goals past what you can currently attain, and you will progress beautifully

Get some good tasting crap that's good for you.

Like Blackberries.

fill up on stuff like fruits and crap. Eventually you'll lose your taste for confections

Taste sensitization. Learn to appreciate the soft and subtle tastes of real food. Quit expecting your food to taste like heaven all the time. Food doesn't owe you wonderful tastes, but you owe your body food it can actually use.

That is some real advice. Yeah get used to eating non-sweet stuff, body will reject the junkfood on the cheat day.

i really much prefer fruit to brownies anyway.

Write down everything you eat. When you are preparing to eat something bad, you might not want to write that in your food log.

all that good stuff
the addiction to refined sugar is strong in this one. eating protein regularly, like something small portioned every 2-3 hours max when awake until nighttime, that will push back the cravings.

also a whole cup of water (or two) just before a meal will make you hungrier, for real food that is.

QFT. After fighting with cravings for months when I was trying to work out, I just manned up, and ate fruit when I wanted something sweet.

Only "problem" is that I crave fruit now.

Ice cream is way better for you than brownies and shit

Eat some of that - preferably the kind with "no sugar added." It tastes great
