'Sup /fit/. I'm female, 5'6", and 156lbs with a medium sized frame. I want to lose x amount of pounds by my birthday 5 months from now but what goal weight should I be aiming for?

You could safely lose about 20lbs in 5 months. 136lbs is not bad for your height.

136 sounds good. Thanks!

5 months is a long time. 2lbs per week average, x4 weeks in a month (8) x 5 months = 40lbs.

Now, you don't need to lose 40lbs, that would probably be too much. If you get to 136 and are happy with it, stay with it. But you could push yourself further, say to 130.

All depends on how comfortable you are with your new body. Good luck.

Weight is meaningless. Get skinfold testing done and aim for around 15% body fat (isn't that the norm for chicks?).

Just take note that the skinfold test isn't foolproof. It'll read high if you have excess skin.

What is excess skin? Though skin thickness is more of an age issue and it accounted for during the tests.

it's better than weight. besides, which weight? The fat weight, or the muscle weight, or whatever

it's the skin that hangs off you if you were once very fat and then lost the weigth fast
