Can not wearing glasses/contacts make you go blind?
>> Anonymous
yes, if you don't see shit, stumble and ram your eyes onto a spiked fence.

no, but it'll make you grow hair on your palms

If you walk into a bed of nails, maybe.

I'm pretty sure it just puts unnecessary stress on your eyes and makes them "wear out" sooner if you don't wear them.

no... just no. Unless you get stabbed with a glass shard that would have only hit your glasses if you had them on.

Personally I do eye exercises without my glasses, I think it helps me out more than with glasses because I see the glasses as an additional crutch while exercising it. But glasses are simply corrective, I do not believe they are preventive.

The only case I have is myself, I have had glasses since I was 3 but as my eyes grew they became worse in what the optometrist said was "predictable degeneration"

Wear out? what do you mean by that?

Wearing soft contacts (improperly) is a quicker way to go blind than wearing glasses. Since badly cleaned lenses or improper wearing (too long, keeping them in at night when the lense is not designed to do so) can cause cornea damage/infection. Which can make you blind becuase the cornea is no longer transparent, if it's bad enough, requiring a corneal transplant to fix.

All in all, RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) lenses are the best out there, but they require a lot more getting used to than soft lenses.

Most shit you hear about glasses are myth anyway.

PS. In some cases RGP lensen can put a brake on progressive myopia during growth...

"wearing out" of your eyes has been pretty much disproven. It can lead to eye strain, which leads to headache, but your vision does not deteriorate from eye strain. After the strain is removed, your eyes go back to normal.

Reading in the dark isn't even bad for your eyes, according to science.

Remember, glasses and lightbulbs are new inventions, within the past 200 years. Before that everything was candlelight and natural eyes. Was everyone blind? Nope.

Nope. This is coming from a person that wore glasses with bi-focals for 14 years. I stopped wearing them in High School because I looked cooler without them and I've had no sight problems.

Bifocals are for old farts, if you needed bifocals in high school then

A) your optometrist ripped you off
B) your eyes can't accommodate which means you can't read without glasses

So you can't have no sight problems and still require bifocals. /r/ing your prescription

I haven't had glasses in years, so I'm not sure what the prescription was. I was born with kind of a crooked eye so I guess that's why I had bi-focals. Everything seems to have fixed over time and I haven't worn glasses in almost 6 years nor do I have a crooked eye anymore.

Also, the glasses were always cheap because I live in Canada and my Dad has fantastic Health insurance because of his job.
