Hey /fit/

Female /b/tard here. I'm looking to lose a few pounds. Got lots of motivation seeing how my clothes are starting to feel real tight around the belly. I have access to a treadmill, and a weight lifting machine (pic related). Problem is I'm poor and I can't cook if my life depended on it. I've been eating cup noodles for a loooong time. Any quality suggestions? If I do manage to lose some weight, I promise I will post tits.

Try to cut out the noodles. If you are a complete disaster there's a ton of healthy frozen meals out there that also help you with portion control(as well as frozen vegetables, fruit, etc.). Here's an article on the healthiest frozen dinners.

However these should be eaten 100% of the time.

Cup of noodles? That's just loads of carbs, which aren't a bad thing..but if your trying to lose weight you have to monitor how much/what type of carbs your intaking. What i'd reccomend is using your weight machine and working out every 2 days, then start jogging for at least half an hour every day. The biggest obstacle I think your faced with is the nutritional part. Somehow obtain funds to start buying/eating healthy. salads, lean meats (chicken, tuna, etc), maybe some protein/health bars and lots of water will be your best friends in your pursuit to lose weight.

Eat less, but just as frequently as you have done before.

Whoops...meant to say "shouldn't" instead of "should". Also you should have a side salad with them (or cook some frozen vegetables) to ensure you're getting enough vitamins.

1) GET BACK IN UR /b/OX!

2) If you're actually serious about losing some pounds and have the motivation for it, i highly recommend the treadmill / running in general. I remember back in Cross Country season i'd practically turn into a skeleton with nothing but lean muscle by the time States came. It hurts like mad when you've run 5 miles and still have 2 to go, but if you can do @ least half of that 3-5 times a week, i guarantee you will shred off the pounds.

3 Steps of working out imo: Conditioning (exercise), Eating, Sleeping. Slacking on / lack of any one of these will affect your overall gains and losses.

For running, go to a Running Shoe store where the people have an idea what they're talking about, and find out if you run Normal, Flat-footed or High-Arch-footed (and get a shoe depending on this - i cannot describe how much this helped me when i got a shoe made for High-Arch footed people like me). Get a sports bra and sports undies - bouncing hurts in long-distance runs.

Eat well, even if you don't know how to cook. Personally i LOVE ( <3 <3 <3 ) fruit, and eat it all the time (no cooking required!). Same goes with most Vegetables (note: i tried to eat a raw potatoe once - those actually DO take a bit of cooking :( ). Cut down on Fat intake, and moderate your Carbohydrate intake - Carbs are one of the BEST sources of fuel for the body, but unused fuel will be stored by your body as excess weight :X . Supplement your protein intake as well (power shakes, pre-cooked beef and chicken [preferrably grilled! fried food = THE ENEMY!], etc) to build back up your lean muscles. Which leads to the 3rd necessity...

...Sleep! Even though i used to barely sleep 5 hours a day before i became a triathelete in high school, your body should have somewhere right around 7-8 hours a night after a good workout to build back up muscle.

OP here, I have an insurmountable addiction to diet coke (typical fat person lulz), do I have to give that up too?

Drinking diet shit is just as bad as drinking regular shit. There are studies that show people not loosing any weight when switching to diet drinks.

That's probably just because people think they can eat even more shit since their drink is diet.

not to forget that sweeteners stimulate your hunger, urging you to eat more.
And these artificial products are everything, but not healthy.

being poor is the hardest thing about losing weight. really. eating healthy is more expensive than eating shitty.

eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can afford. instead of instant ramen/cup of noodles, get some whole wheat pasta and a can of crushed tomatoes (or whatever is cheapest that you can use as tomato sauce, but isn't bad for you). grill some chicken breast for protein, and with veggies, that's about as cheap as you can get for a balanced meal.

just avoid butter, olive oil, and any extra fat (like salad dressing). natural foods have enough fat in them; you don't really need a lot.

as for poor cooking, a little salt and pepper go a long way. if you can afford it, buy a jar or two of spices (herbs de provence, or rosemary); something with flavor. you don't need much to make a meal more enjoyable. the problem is that in the US we are used to high fat meals which are flavorable (our bodies love fat); using other agents as flavor helps that.

good luck.
