I've gained 10 lbs, mostly muscle, in 6th months. I'm now 170 but my goal is 180. I'm poor, so I can't afford anything more than a gym membership and whey protein. Any ideas to speed up the process?

pic related: it's not me, but that's exactly how my body looks (I didn't use to be fat though)

basically you use a drink during your workout to reduce the amount of time you spend in a catabolic state; this reduces recovery time. yay.

usually consists of dextrose and/or maltodextrin, whey protein, and sometimes fruit juice.

i don't use the protein powder. i just use dextrose, pineapple juice (each supplies 50% of the carbohydrates) and water. i got this by googling poliquin+workout+drink. should work.

amounts are dependant on workout and lean body mass. google fu it.

Replace your whey protein powder with a weight gainer powder.

You need enough calories on top of protein to efficiently put on mass.

You're used to eating for 170lbs, you're gonna need to learn to eat enough to maintain 180lbs.

OR. make a weight gainer at home that is not filled with bad sugar

1or2 Scoop whey
1 cup oatmeal
1 tsp peanutbutter
banana, strawberries
yogurt

blend and drink up it takes good. thats around 600+calories and 25-50g protein
