Hello, /fit/!

I've been going at the whole weight lifting thing with casual interest for a few months (3 times a week or so). I've made a good bit of progress as to muscle gain and I'm at about the level I'd like to be in terms of size.

What I'd like to do now is lose 12 pounds or so of fat. I don't have skin fold callipers or anything but... I'm 6' and 179 lbs.

What should I do? Drop the weights and, for a couple of months, do intensive HITT/"soft" cardio for fat loss and then pick back up on the weights once I'm happy with my appearance or what?

Thanks for your help, guys.

Pic fucking related somehow.

Oh, OP here...

Some diet tips, too? I think that about now I should look into a "proper" diet to access the real benefits of all this effort. So, a fat-loss diet would be much appreciated!

Don't stop lifting.
You might not be able to do the same amount of sets but keep weight going up.

1) Find a food guide, follow its recommendations. Make sure to take in a bit extra to cover the extra exercise you're doing. Eating healthy is far superior than any stupid diet.
2) If you don't mind suffering, do HITT. Do an LSD every once in a while to build up endurance. Sports are good too.
3) Don't stop weight training. 2-3x a week is still a good number, and run on off days.

I'd recommend doing it for health, not for looks. Genetics can play a role in how much fat you lose and where. I'm 6'1 and 200 lbs. I'm sure as heck ain't pretty ,but I'm healthy and in good physical shape. I'd rather the fat around my waist than around my organs.
