ITT: The Paleolithic Diet

Is anyone here on it? If so, what do you eat on a daily basis?

Also: is tea allowed?
>> Anonymous
Haven't transitioned completely to the paleodiet yet, but I try to follow it most of the time. I definitely feel better when I'm following it consistently. You basically eat meat, veggies, eggs, nuts/seeds, and fruit. Tea is allowed, though without milk if you want to be strict, so normally people go with green or herbal teas.

If you are interested I'd recommend checking out www.marksdailyapple.com, www.paleodiet.com, and www.thepaleodiet.com .

its pure win

literally, its nutritional "END GAME"

it is the exact opposite of what the majority of mainstream nutritional folks say, which is always a very prudent idea in the world of health and fitness (as the govt/mainstream health advocates minimal weights, all steady state, low intensity cardio, with a solid diet of processed carbs, soy, and minimal meats/healthy fats)

it certainly isnt the only way to "win" though.

well, i can understand your POV

but can you understand mine?

Americans are THE FATTEST and MOST UNFIT group of humans on the planet. and can you guess WHY? How could you EVER in good conscience, follow anything ever said by our government concerning DIET of all fucking things after looking at their track record and spectacular fuckup, which, mind you, is increasing at an ever proportionally higher rate, meaning what ever they are doing is getting WORSE, not better.

frankly, i enjoy my <10% BF and 475 deadlift, but thats just me, my paleo diet, and my silly tinfoil hat.

I heard about this diet a while ago and decided to try shifting my eating habits to fit it as closely as possible. I don't think I'd ever go all-out with it, mainly because I know it's annoying as fuck when you're eating somewhere with friends or family and one person raises his finger and proudly proclaims that he "can't" eat this or that because it's not part of his diet. Well, these people are usually vegetarians, but either way, I don't want to resemble that sort of person at all. I'll eat a sandwich if it's inconvenient or annoying of me to refuse it.

That aside, I've noticed one small problem with this diet: it's pretty damn expensivet. Grain/rice-based food is the cheapest stuff available, and most of it lasts forever until you cook it. Meat and veggies are usually bought fresh (or at least they should be if you want to avoid preservatives), which can really up their price tag.

And yeah, I can somewhat buy into the idea of the government wanting us to eat shitloads of bread-family foods. It makes sense--it's easy to produce/transport/preserve, and there's plenty for everyone. If that's all people ate, things would be a lot easier, at least from the perspective of the powers that be.

I follow it.

Yogurt is the only exception.

It fucking rules. I'm eating 6 times a day, large meals, losing fat, gaining muscle.

simply look to what is on the bottom of the food pyramid

NOT fruits and veggies

but processed grains
(i too am not a strict 'any diet' fag either, as that defeats the purpose of living a wholesome life)

people will find that certain diets work best for themselves, be it based on BLOOD type, ethnicity, race, etc...but you will feel a difference when you find what works best for yourself, hence why i avoid all processed food and drink.

also, concerning 'price', that is simply untrue. you just have to plan better and shop smarter than the every day random person. it is very doable, as i did it when i was without a job during a portion of university, i was literally living on the money i made from plasma donations and still eating 4000 calories of 'paleo friendly' delicious food.

the squat has so many variables when you have to list it (what depth, what style, what weight, what gear, etc)
also, it was only 425

Oh, you don't have to tell me twice. I brought up the whole "food pyramid=total bullshit" topic over at /ck/ a few days ago and they fought me tooth and nail over it. In the end, I think most of them ended up agreeing, though. Even if you don't want to omit bread from your diet, there's absolutely no reason to eat so much of it. It's just not a natural type of food for human beings in the first place.

I always try to shop smart and never spend extra just for some bullshit brand name. Even so, you can get a bag of rice or a package of spaghetti for a few bucks, and it'll last you over a month, easily. Packs of ramen can be had for 5-10 cents each. I've never seen any meat or vegetables priced that low.

i get your angle and i agree, no way eating paleo could touch eating pure shit carbs in terms of total caloric power for the price. no comment on nutrition, but for volume, absolutely.

altho i get my 14.75 oz cans of wild mackerel for $.89 and same sized cans of wild salmon for 2.50 (each would be 2 meals), then add in a veggie, and/or fruit, and you got a meal under 3 dollars with 45g protein, 500cal (add nuts if you want more), and loads of healthy fats
