simple question... I've read some things on this... but searching for it yields too much of the opposite effect of what I'm looking for...

can you get stretch marks when losing weight? I'm not concerned with how it looks, I caught some in the mirror and I thought I was gaining weight. got on the scale and that wasn't the case. basically freaked the fuck out.

Yes, you are. Losing weight doesn't stretch it. It's already stretched when you're fat. When you're losing weight, it doesn't shrink back fast enough. For most, it's not very much and they usually recover, but if you lose a LOT of weight, and/or if your body isn't getting as much nutrition as it should (for example, on a very calorie-restrictive diet), it might never recover.

Cut back on food (too much in hindsight) and started lifting weights.

I was wondering that too.

What was your regimen? I was thinking of starting lifting again because I think I sort of plateau'd on my cardio.

How many calories should I aim for a day?

My regimen? lol, it was 3 years ago, I was 16, and I was just starting. I just went to the gym with my uncle and did what he did. I don't even remember. I also didn't go as much as I do now.

Now I still don't do anything super hardcore. Just a Chest day, Tri's/Bi's, Legs, Back/Shoulder day, at least once per week, usually a 5th or 6th day depending on how I recover from earlier workouts. I do LISS in the morning about 4 days/week. Don't do HIIT too often...although I do always take the stairs to my uni dorm and I live on the 8th floor, if that counts.

Depends. Use some online thing that will calculate it for you (make sure to also take into account the exercise you'll be doing), then go with that for a week or two and see how much you lost/gained, then modify your caloric intake accordingly.

To prevent loose skin, I'd suggest trying to lose about half a pound/week, if you think you can be that exact with your diet.
