Fuck, I lost access to a squat rack/cage.. and I can't afford to buy one (cheapest I found was 199$)... so what do I do? I tried getting under it from my bench press but lol, it turned out bad, should I try to build a shitty squat rack or what? I'm not lifting any insane amount so it's not gonna collapse probably. I can't afford the gym either as of yet... I'm fucked now. Any ideas?

I already bought a bunch of fitness stuff, I can't spend more lol, I just bought new weightset and bench, I will try alternate squats then I guess.... still sucks though.

Find a craftsman and ask if they can build you one. I initially went to a woodyard, but he ended up referring my to his cousin's junkyard. I gave the guy the dimensions that I needed and he put it together for $30 bucks.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I could build it myself too, so I'd just need the lumber and some strong brackets. I'll go tot he fitness store tomorrow and act like I'm going to buy one then just write the dimensions down and build it on my own, seems like the best advice.

Don't even have to go to the store...

Should be fine so long as you don't work too heavy. The good racks are likely made from a very specific type of metal... so, any old scrap metal might be a little too weak for heavy weight.

Yeah well, I am not a big guy nor do I lift to get big so it should hold... I'll call a scrap yard but I might just go ahead and build it out of lumber, like I said I'm not lifting huge weights here.

Yea, I'm the guy that went to the junkyard. The guy was a metal worker before he found that he could make more money owning the yard. But anyways, he said he made sure to find some good quality steel, and to be careful when moving heavy weights. He actually recommended that I purchase the power racks if I was going to be lifting huge weights.

You know what, fuck it I just did a few from the bench press barbel rack height, I just need to lift the barbel up and over my head fist, not too hard I guess until I start lifting big amounts.
