Dear fit:
How bad is my body, on a scale of 1-10? I'm giving myself a 2, maybe a 2.5. Basically not toned at all, layer of fat over everything, what looks to me like lop-sided ribs. This isn't asking for help on how to lose weight or get more muscle, I just want your guys' take on it, as I feel extremely negative about it. I dieting right now, and I feel like getting some real ratings will push me away from cheating.
>> Anonymous
Wow, you look a lot like me before I started working out.

Being a skinny fag, you'd be surprised how good you could look if you just cut a little fat and build a little muscle.

I can't really judge you, all I can think of is potential.

I guess think of it as a 3 that's a few months from being a 7-8. GET TO WORK.
>> Anonymous
It quite good from a starting point of view. At least you're not fat.
>> Anonymous
>>338070
At least you're not fat.
>> Anonymous
>>338070
Fat people have it 10 times harder than someone like you. Even if they lose the weight and manage to build muscle, they have to deal with stretch marks and/or saggy skin depending on the level of fatness. You are like a blank canvas. There is no reason you should feel bad as long as you are trying.

>>338096
Wow fit. You guys are really nice. But the thing is, other than dieting, I'm really not trying at all. I mean, watching what I eat and counting calories is easy. So I guess I should try working out then?
>> Anonymous
>>338102
kill yourself
>> Anonymous
>>338102
You probably dont really need to count calories unless you are prone to getting fat. Just cut out bad foods. If you have a fast metabolism, you will need over 9000 (good) calories a day to gain muscle anyway.

And yes, WORK OUT.
>> Anonymous
>>338117
Lower your arms and you would look like you were masturbating.
>> Anonymous
Start doing some cardio and you will have visible abs in no time.
>> Anonymous
>>338113
Eh, I gained like eight pounds over the summer from bad eating and have only recently shed them. My metabolism is simply okay. I can get fat if I try.
Don't wanna ask about workout routines, I know you guys get that enough. But is working out plus swimming okay? Will it get me any results? I'm gonna go look up some good calories info. I wanna stay thinky-ish but get lean, so yeah. I'll look up some info.
>>338117
Lol, I can do pec dances already. But mine obviously aren't as good.
>> Anonymous
>>338128
Swimming is fine if you don't want to be a bodybuilder.
>> Anonymous
>>338127
I was afraid of that. Oh well, guess I need to start doing cardio.
>> Anonymous
>>338133
BUT ERRYBODY WANNA BE A BODYBUILDER
>> Anonymous
>>338133
I don't. I'm a shallow, teenaged loser who wants to be "cool" and be toned and not have a shit-ton of muscle, just because I don't have the effort. /fit/ knows the type, it's all that's asked about here. "I WANNA BE LIKE BRAD PIT FROM FIGHT CLUB LOLOLOL".
>> Anonymous
ERRBODY WANNA LOOK GOOD, DON'T NO BODY WANNA DO ALL THIS DIFFICULT SHIT.
>> Anonymous
>>338172
Exactly my point! Well, I'll swim and work-out a bit, but I won't run. Is swimming cardio anywhere near as good as running cardio? My final question.
>> Anonymous
>>338183
people often have this confused.

you dont need to 'run' at all. depending on your goals (athletics or looks), you likely dont need to 'run' ever.

people often have this confused, they think you need to RUN to get in shape, when in reality, you need to get in shape to RUN.
>> Anonymous
>>338196
Okay then, my goal is a new look.
>> Anonymous
>>338208
then dont run @ all.

you are SOP skinny fat kid poster on this place. you are here cuz you really dont want to do anything, as this is a site for faggots (you) and assholes (me).

eat more, gain 15lbs of muscle, then taper off the diet. the increased muscle mass and exercise will RAMMMM up your metabolism and take care of the rest. do something for your heart too, bike, row, walk in the woods, etc.
>> Anonymous
>>338215
>>the increased muscle mass and exercise will RAMMMM up your metabolism and take care of the rest.

Do you have first-hand experience with this claim?
>> Anonymous
>>338215
No no, I do want to do something. I just don't want to run. I'll do anything else. I used to swim and I used to wrestle, but that was a while ago, and I've let myself go since then. I'm here because I don't know shit about proper fitness as my coaches were idiots. See, 15 lbs. of muscle mass seems like a lot to me. But that's because I'm an ignorant faggot.
>> Anonymous
>>338228
actually, yes

my story.
2005 6ft, 170lb, skinny ~8%, athletic, untrained (bench was 85, squat 1rm was 90)nothing special.

and even during PL competition, when i never did more than lift and walk, VO2 max didnt drop below 50, while my Wingate Anaerobic Threshold Test had scores 'higher than the football team's'. so even @ 240, i was still 'fit' had a 40inch box jump and would burn you skinny cardio faggots in the 100m...altho i'd die before 400m
>> Anonymous
>>338240
Ah I see. I'm not OP, and I actually started at the fat end of the spectrum exiting skinnyfat land now. Been gaining muscle mass over the past 3 months, visibly significant--but that meant building a strong trunk & abs which meant whatever fat I had on my belly just ended up getting pushed out. I guess it's been sort of a bulking phase or something. Lost a lot of fat, gained a lot of muscle, didn't shift a lb on the scale either way. So you think if I suddenly "cut" calories and keep to a set lifting routine that doesn't push the weights any higher, the muscle mass coupled with the same exercise will perform some sort of fat-cutting magic at the expense of minimal muscle?
>> Anonymous
>>338243
I'm the OP, and I gotta say, this is some inspiration. I know I seem like a faggot anon, but thatnks.
>> Anonymous
>>338246

uh...fat person? oic, you are part of the emo fag brigade, where any guy who isnt queer and skinny enough for you is fat.

why are you on /fit/ and no /fa/ if you prefer to be skinny than muscular?

and as a general post to all others...this isnt bodybuilding.com, so get out w/this 'pics' things. i stated objective numbers and stats, its, in the real world, how things are measured. get on stage if you want your 'pics' to matter.

tl dr: i'll keep my 475 deadlift, and you can think it 'never happened'

>>338243
and would burn you skinny cardio faggots in the 100m...altho i'd die before 400m
Which is kind of normal considering cardio for running is supposed to last more than what it takes to run 400m (even if one's reaaally fat).
@Op: funny, I lost 44lbs and look a bit like you now. Wonder what to do, I intend on keeping running and started bodyweight shitty stuff but after that..
>> Anonymous
>>338331
This is /fit/, not /fat/. Get out.
>> Anonymous
>>338331
Well technically any stats would have to be witnessed and video taped, so typing means jack shit. At least in a photo you can get kind of an idea of what the other person looks like and whether their stats are realistic. Just sayin.
>> Anonymous
>>338366

do you realize that i only spoke of my own personal accomplishment because i was directly asked by the OP? in terms of progression and to show what can be achieved if said progression is followed? why in allah's unholy name would i bring up personal accomplishment to flex nuts on an anon server???

there are pics and vids of me online, in lifting forums where i post w/my lifting team, w/ all my stats. BUT i would have to be fucking insane to put that shit on 4chan.

my stats and ME are not even pertinent to this discussion (ie. is running/cardio useful for a metabolic shift) i gave a run through of my data progression to those who cared. i am otherwise disappointed in anon for this petty bullshit.

OP here, didn't expect thread to go like this.

OP, you're not fat. You'd barely even qualify as skinnyfat. Just start working out and working out hard, and you'll do well. You don't have a lot of belly fat, so try specializing on your abs... that'll be great motivation for you.

I have the same problem with my ribs too. What you can do is try doing vacuums to strengthen your transverse abdominus... it's the muscle that holds your gut in. If the muscle is strong, your abdomen will appear more compact and sucked in and it'll minimize the appearance of ribs.

tl;dr Just shut up and go pack on some muscle.

OP you look almost exactly like me.
Started in the same skinny-fat shape. With maybe even a bit more fat. Focussed on my abs and biceps and did some training here and there for 3 month now.
Got from 130 pounds to 118 and my muscles look pretty good. Abs starting to look good. Still got a good layer of fat on my belly, but that will be gone soon.
Btw: Never did any cardio. Not even walking.
But Im starting at a gym tomorrow with my girlfriend.

Good luck!

Now my daily training is 5 chin-ups everytime I enter or leave my room. And 20 sit-ups every morning and 2x20 every afternoon.

Do chin-up. Hand in-side facing in your direction. That way it is better for your chest and biceps.
