lower back pain Fuckmeat !ZW07SUX5r2
I'm wondering what I can do about my back. I know my dad has a lot of trouble with back pain, and through some combination of genetics and mediocre/bad exercise habits, my back is kind of shitty too. On a good day (most days, even) my back is fine. On a bad day it makes it uncomfortable to stand up straight. I was sick with the flu last weekend, and there was a while where my back made me wish I was dead.

So, tl;dr my back hurts, often when I try to exercise. So does /fit/ know any stretches or exercises that help the lower back?

How is your posture? If you're slouched over all the time and round your shoulders forward you're putting a lot of strain on your back. Good posture is a must for a healthy back.

Also, strengthening your abs will help ease the load off your back as well.

Gentle stretching could also be beneficial; many people simply aren't flexible in the lumbar region so stretching the muscles can help loosen things up down there.

If you live a sedentary lifestyle, you need to get off your ass and work out. Just do some stretches at first to extend your muscles to what they should be. If you want to get healthier after that, don't go running; it puts undue stress on your knees and back. The repeated jutting up and down on your cartilage can destroy it.
