Heart rate and training zones Anonymous
Hi /fit/. I have some extra fat around my stomach area that I am determined to get rid of...its not a whole lot, but I want it GONE.

I was looking around at working within training zones. I found that at 60% is what is necessary to start burning off fat. I found a couple places online that calculate how many BPM that is, and for me it averages about 152-160. I'm 18, if this helps at all.

My question to you is: Is working within a training zone effective for most people and what they want to accomplish? How long should I work within that training zone? If I work for an extended period of time in that zone...will my body eventually stop doing what I want it to do (fat burning) and start something I dont want it to do (muscle burning)?

To reiterate: HIIT; Tabata Intervals; google this shit.

This "training zone" shit you speak of is unnecessary.

alcohol is usually gonna go straight to your belly, cutting down that would probably be the most effective

OP Here...this was not OP.

These Tabata Intervals...I'll be doing them on the elliptical. So, I know its probably a stupid question, but this is a good thing to do if I'm working on tryign to get rid of that belly fat?

And as far as drinking goes...I'm not a regular drinker. The last I had was a good month and a half ago.

60% MHR at age 18 is not 160, that's around 75-80%

learn something before applying it to yourself next time
