Had to do a presentation in class today and I've noticed that every time before I go and present I get very shaky and my words like to stutter. I've tried to calm myself by slowing my heart rate and also just trying to get in a calm state of mind but when I get up in front of the class to present all the nerves come back and I begin to shake uncontrollably. Has anyone had the same problem and what prescriptions do you take that are nerve relaxers.

tl;dr What are some nerve calming pill that I can ask my doctor about

beta blockers. concert musicians use them to prevent stage fright.

I remember reading a thread a while ago of some guy who took a muscle relaxant and a nerve calming pill to get him to ask this girl out that he liked. I'm wondering if anyone remembers those pills as well because I'm willing to try anything for this stupid class.

They don't actually do anything for the anxiety itself, just the symptoms.

This problem that I have really pisses me off because around friends and other people I know I'm cool as ice (no pun intended) but up infront of a class full of my peers just seems to bring the deepest stage frights I can get.

I've got the same problem... I hate it.

tbh, any pharmaceutical that will calm your nerves is also considered recreational so you will have a difficult time just asking for it from your doctor. He might end up referring you to a pdoc b/c a lot of them don't feel comfortable rxing psych meds. You need to lead the doctor in the direction you want. Just explain to him what your problem is and see what he has to say. You may get lucky and get rxed something like xanax, valium, ativan, etc.

I'm going to laugh when you ask your doctor for hardcore heart medication despite not having a heart condition and he's all: "NO, BUT I WILL GIVE YOU A CHECK MARK NEXT TO DRUG SEEKING BEHAVIOR HERE IN YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS"

Little alcohol. Or concentrate on the back of the room. Or look around and imagine talking to that individual only. Know you know more than them.

its call PRACTICE, fucking practice till you have your shit memorized.

Phobias and fears are not biological in natural, these are learn retarded behaviors, and can be unlearn. Drugs aren't as effective. Go get therapy if you can't deal.

And? So he gets a new doctor and tells he hasn't been to an MD in a while and forgets the previous one's name. Bitch.
