endorphins dont make you excited or specially active, they just make you feel good and happy (in fact they are painkillers, more or less).
Muscle tissue grows when its regenerating. By exercising you stretch and break the tissue, and by resting you regenerate it and strenghten it. When you sleep regeneration is off the charts.
The only important thing is to end the exercise like, 30-45 min before hitting the sack, so you aren't pumped, and stretch well.
