Don't be concerned about what fucking shoes too wear, the greatest athletes in history often run, jump, and climb either barefoot or in thin shoes.

Take Fedor for example, but I'm still talking Kenyan relayers, or ninjas and shit.

That's for races and events. Yes flats will help you run faster, but it's better to train on shoes meant for training.

I have always wondered. Fedor is not the biggest fighter in the world, and neither the quickest. He does not look as strong as other MMA fighters yet he is unstoppable and destroys anyone in his path.

I want to know, is it genetics that makes him better than all the rest? Or is it his work he puts into the training he does?

Please discuss, and feel free to make a 100 post thread full of shit and wrong opinions.

I remember that thread. It was terrible.

It's purely genetics. If anyone disagrees with me then they are totally, and 100% wrong.

It's because he is much better at fighting than the people he fights. The training he does isn't that great, and as a result, he isn't anything special in terms of athleticism.

Man, kenyans aren't the greatest athletes in the world. They do one thing well, marathons. Wheeee.

Take a pro football player, any player, really. They'll jump higher, sprint faster, and are stronger. The kenyan can run for longer.

Fedor has claimed before that he doesn't do any weight training whatsoever...strictly grappling and striking drills and sparring. I would imagine he's naturally athletic and impossible to intimidate as well....but yeah, if you're lifting weights, you could be using that time by rolling and working on your technique and timing instead. Also, the correlation between muscle size is a lot weaker than most people would think, ie powerlifting vs bodybuilding.

OP here, can we stay on topic pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?

hey OP: barefoot squatz

Unless you have shitty ankles, I would think that really nice crosstrainers would get in the way of comprehensive plyo. A lot of crossfit fags I know use wrestling shoes...once you learn to run and jump without slamming down on your heels with every step, you'll be fine

i squat in my regular shoes. and i'm looking for a sprinting/plyo shoe not weight lifting shoe.

If you're worried about ankle restrictions, a pair of indoor soccer shoes from Adidas will work great. I use mine in fencing as an alternative to the 300 dollar fencing shoes. They work just fine because they're super lightweight.

But lightweight shoes only really matter in quickness tests, so don't wear em out with normal use or lifting.

starbury cyclones... the only sprint shoe you'll ever need... and they only cost 15-20 dollars.

just don't do distance running in them

or for badassery, you could get a pair of 5fingers sprint shoes

Starbury's fall apart within the first mile.

well I must've gotten lucky, because I've done easily 20 miles of sprints on the rockish ground along the foul line of a baseball field... I do sprints with the pinch runner for my team because he says it's a better warmup having competition... AND i wear them a couple days a week for just walking around... and they show no sign of falling apart...

methinks you got a different variety of starbury... the cyclone is a god's shoe
