Soup /fit/,

I need your help, my mother is bitching about me getting onto Creatine Monohydrate supplements and working out daily (not excessively, about 45-1 hour full lifting work outs). I'm 17 years-old and '5.4, her concern is that it will "stunt my growth" her credible source is some indian growth doctor that she asked.

Give me some facts to lay on her ass.

lol once you stop taking creatine your muscles will deflate. it blocks carbs from getting to the muscle and fills it with water making it look bigger. if you keep taking it your muscles will just stop growing without it.

enjoy your fail fake muscles.

OP here, I haven't taken any Creatine, yet, and my bench max is currently 205. I haven't gone past this in a little while now and I want to improve as this will also encourage me to be more active/healthy eating when wrestling season isn't in.

And no, all of the kids in any sport (at my school atleast) are all on creatine, and I STILL lift more than most of them.

explain to her that creatine is a naturally occurring amino acid produced by the human body and found in the typical diet through meat consumption. The supplement is simply a concentrated form to help improve recovery time. You can even go as far as to explain that it improves brain cognition

muscles deflate? what are they, filled with air? what happens is that continued external creatine supplementation slows down creatine phosphate production in the body. At this point the creatine supplementation becomes maintenance and it is necessary to cycle off. Following a 2-4 weeks (depending on how long you were cycled on), your body will return to baseline. Its not like you develop chronic creatine deficiency. And creatine supplementation does not block muscular glycogen storage. This can be proven by the simple water retention that creatine provides because glycogen itself also draws water into the muscles. And what the fuck do you mean by FAKE muscles? You do realize that muscles are predominately water, right? So what if we are shifting that percentage a few more to the right? What will you say next, that people who lift weights have fake muscles? fuck off you ill-informed dipshit

enjoy your education. You should have researched creatine before you even bought some so you could get her to stfu. Rule of thumb for anything in life, btw, but especially when it comes to lifting.
