Hey /fit/ - need your help.

I'm looking to lose some body fat and have thus far been doing only cardio (distance running mixed with sprints). My fitness has increased but my fatness has not gone down much. I have heard that by putting on more muscle you burn more calories and hence it can help you to lose body fat. So more muscle helps you slim down by burning energy when your at rest? Is this true, and what is the best way to increase muscle density - good ol fashioned weight training? Low or high reps with low of high weight? Thanks in advance.

NO! Why is it so hard to understand that you can't spot reduce? It's always said somewhere on the first goddamn page.

Just finished reading about 'no spot reducing' - apologise for my ignorance. Any other tips for building muscle? Do i require a diet with more protien or not worry until I start to feel a difference? Are free weights and ground excercises (push ups, sit ups etc) all I need?

1,5 to 2 gr. protein per kg bodyweight required for muscle-growth.
