Ok, I am a total noob at doing anything fit or healthy, so I come to /fit/ for help...

First, let me get this on the record, I am not fat. A tad overweight yes, but not fat. I can actually see my feet when I look down, I just have a little more shit under my chin and on my stomach/abdomen than I would like.


So, I ask, is it at all possible to lose some weight by eating less, perhaps cutting back on the soda and sugar?

Also, if your weight is currently stable, you could probably lose weight simply by cutting all sugary drinks and keeping your exact same diet. Walking 45 minutes a day will also help.

Wrong, eventually after his body has used all resources it will eat his fat and then his muscle. This process can take up to 1 week to happen if all you drink is water. It slows down your metabolism and harms ever organ in your body. You will become extremely weak and tired.

TL;DR Starving your self can loose weight.... but has horrible side effects.

Begin by limiting your protein intake, as it is converted to fat more rapidly than sodium and carbs. Feel free to enjoy caffiene free soda on occasion as the caffeine is where the real health problems come from.

Once you do that, you can slowly adjust your main meal untill it is high sodium and carb based (such as healthy asian instant noodle dishes that are quite cheap from most nearby stores). Be sure to get the plain 'beef' or 'chicken' flavors, as the terms 'creamy' or 'savory' usually imply lard was added to the seasonings.

Once your diet is in check then, and only then, should you begin your weightloss workout regime. Try to be regular, and do the same workout at the same time every day, that way you get used to it and don't get bored and quit early. Some may recommend a combo of strength and aerobic training, but for the starter with a focus on weight loss like you I would say you are much better off just doing 1 or 2 hours of HIIT (broken down into 3 or 4 intervals) daily for a few months.

Here's some of my own copypasta for OP:
There is no secret to eating healthy, anyone can do it. Here's how...

-Stop eating simple sugars other than the fructose you get from fruit, stop eating simple flour/rices lacking their fiber, and stop eating starchy potato shit all the time. These are the foods that make people fat-NOT meat in any way, shape or form. Meat is your friend in weight loss because of the complexity of animal fats and proteins and their digestion by the human body. If you think animal fat=human fat, you are wrong.
-Eat whenever you are hungry, and eat to contention; you do not need to worry about eating in moderation when you eat healthy. Trust your body to know when to stop eating too much salad and steak with a bowl of fruit. Believe or not, it just knows.
-On a related note, *do* eat red meat--you need the protein/minerals/et cet that only red meat provides. And any meat that you want for that matter, even the real fatty cuts.
-Do *not* eat whole wheat (which is junk food), but rather whole grain (fiber/natural vitamins&minerals et cet)
-Any nuts/cheeses/whole grain crackers/fruit are great, tasty healthy snacks to replace your junk food
-You know you are eating healthy if you see a sudden (very) noticable change...ie, you will probably shit more, and your shits will probably be somewhat larger than what you are accustomed to
-The most important sign of dietary improvement is that you will feel less hungry as you continue eating healthy (lots of healthy fats/proteins/fiber will curb your hunger in a guilt-free way that no potato chip bag can replace)
