You might want to start off with something lower intensity, unless you're already going at a slow pace, due to the fact that you're new to working out.
Bike, you have to go longer to get the same results as running, but it's low impact, so it's easy on your joints.
Yes, swimming is a good exercise because it uses your whole body. If you stick with swimming you'll definitely feel a difference after a few weeks.
As for a work out plan for beginners I would do this plan if today's workout is too hard for you:

I did that and I was in much better shape than I was when I didn't work-out.
