Protein Anonymous
How much protein can the body absorb at a time?
And how long after eating can I eat again to absorb more protein?
>> Anonymous
google it, you stupid fuck
>> Anonymous
Seriously, I'd advise against eating mass ammounts of protein. If you do, get a shake a day, or go for eggs.
>> Anonymous
you want to aim for around 500 grams of protein if you want to build serious muscle.
>> Anonymous
A lot more then people think. Consider the Eskimos lived exclusively on protien. There's simply NO proof that a high protien diet in a healthy individual has any real negative consequences.

Far as strength training goes time the largest in takes pre-and post work out; spread the rest out through the day in 4-5 meals.

WHAT?? That figure is nuts. I've always heard the rule of thumb is aim for at least 1g of protein for every pound of body weight.

lol you think seals and polar bears are made of protein? The Eskimo diet is over 60% fat

Yes, his figure IS nuts, but yours I think is quite high, too.

I refuse to google this for someone.

If I eat too much protein, I get killer gas.
>> ESH !Oj4wGhYfsE
There's no stone-cold evidence that you can absorb only so much protein at one shot, some say 40g at a time, others 50g and yet still, others suggest even less. However, doing something stupid like eating 80g of protein at one shot is a waste, retarded, and highly unadvised.

Most people agree that, in order to build serious muscle you should have consumed, at the end of the day, 1.5-2g per lb of bodyweight.
>> Anonymous
there is no amount of protein you can eat that will not be mostly absorbed by the intestines

the amount of protein your tissues need is grossly exaggerated

all excess protein is converted to sugar and used for energy

high protein diets are used so that one will consume a large amount of different amino acids and not fall short on any particular one

>high protein diets are used so that one will consume a large amount of different amino acids and not fall short on any particular one
Or, you could just eat corn and beans everyday.
>> Anonymous
>>61784
corn and beans offer very little protein per calorie of fat+carboyhdrate
>> Anonymous
>>61788
Corn and beans together offer all 20 essential amino acids.
>> Anonymous
>>61790
did you even fucking read what your replying to?
it may have a good distribution of amino acids but its NOT ENOUGH PROTEIN for the amount of food you have to eat
>> Anonymous
>>61802
spoilers: your body makes the proteins it needs from amino acids
>> Anonymous
>>61807
correct. In fact, rice and beans may be even better for you than corn and beans.

but meat/whey protein is still going to outdo you, no matter how much of those veggies you eat. corn/beans will keep you strong, but you won't gain muscle mass as easily.
>> Anonymous
>>61760

It's closer to 80%, IIRC.
>> Anonymous
OP's pic is causing mild rage.

>>61814
Seconded. Meat+whey protein works well.
>> Anonymous
too much protein intake stresses your kidneys
>> Anonymous
>>61828
Show me a peer-reviewed study that demonstrates a high protein diet causes kidney damage in an otherwise healthy person.
You won't be able to, because it doesn't exist.
>> Anonymous
>>61834
peer review in the medical world is a purchasable commodity.
industry groups do it all the time and lobbyists force the government to do the same.
>> Anonymous
How the hell would protein stress your kidneys?
Last time I checked my stomach and colon did the work.
The kidneys filter the bloodstream.

still, no rational answer to this question...dammit :\

Yes, but in very small amounts. Getting the ideal amount for the body would require gorging on carbs.

I'm an Inuit, JACKASS. Way to think what you say through. If you need me, I'll be in /b/.

Crying.

spread your protien evenly throughout the day or you will be getting some killer farts, trust me on this

About 25-30 grams at a time and every couple of hours.

This picture would be more accurate if the vegans were spindly and tinted green and shitting blood.
>> Anonymous
There's nothing wrong with eating too much protein, it just means an overclocked liver. So just drink more water.

"Too much protein" for bodybuilders translates into very minute but existing gains in strength, body mass, definition, and so on.

Btw, OP's pic is gay. Vegetarians will have a hard time finding COMPLETE proteins in vegetables. Meat should be eaten tailored to each person's needs, a bit on the sparing side. But still should be eaten.

I suggest that everyone sponsor a vegan through this groundbreaking programme.

chicken and fish have the most protein per serving...bout 19-21 grams of protein.
the only problem is that it is reccomended that you eat about a gram of protein per pound of body weight everyday. this will allow you to get more out of your workouts faster..... but i dont know anyone who eats that much protein in one day.

your best bet is buying creatine or some type of protein suplement
..but thats only important if you want to look like arnold schwarzcheneger *(spelling?)

if you look at ancient roman sculptures they got muscle and all they did was eat redmeat and train using own body weight (pullups,pushups,crunches...and good ol fasion physical labor)
ive been working out and sticking to high protein diet for a while and ive got a decent amount of muscle.....soooooo...its up to you
>> Anonymous
>>61776
Say it was 40grams, and I weighed 200lbs. You're saying I should eat 10 lots of 40 a day - that's a hell of a lot of meat every day.

That's because they're statues.

you can get protein poisoning from eating too much protein and not enough fats... a few peices of chicken/fish and a spoonful of peanut butter is really all you need...as long as your not working out lie a crazy ass...every couple days strength training.
>> ESH !Oj4wGhYfsE
>>62153

Negative. 200x1.5=300, so, in one whole day, you eat 300g of protein, spread out throughout the day (If you eat 6x a day, you'll eat 50g of protein per meal, etc.)

It's a hell of a lot of protein, a lot of eating and frankly, you'll probably get sick of it in time, as does most everyone.
>> Anonymous
Protein and Creatine shake a day should be more than enough for most people's fitness goals. Don't go nuts, probably 200 grams a day AT THE MOST.

picture is a lie. Americans are overweight because we don't move much or at all, consume high fat diets, and eat mostly unhealthy food.

you can still eat meat and be fit. It's called "don't fucking eat red meats fucktard". Put down the burger and eat some chicken or fish. Yeah it sucks, but you'll enjoy your shit not having more flotation than a baloon and your arteries will be thankful for the unclogged passageways.
