First of all, pic unrelated because that guy looks to have fat, not loose skin, but whatever.

I lost a lot of weight the old-fashioned, home grown way of diet and exercise and ended up losing 10%-15% body weight. Unfortunately I have loose skin. After some research I've mainly seen people saying the only solution is surgery. Is this true? I've also seen people saying you have to replace the fat you lost with muscle in order to make the skin appear more taut. Is this a good way to over-come loose skin? Despite my low body-fat level my stomach looks like shit because of this.

I care because it makes me look flabbier than I actually am and I figured I'd lose weight to be healthier, more attractive, and happier. I achieved all three but I can further add to "more attractive" if I learn how to get rid of loose skin besides with surgery.

I'm very skeptical that losing 20 pounds left you with excess skin. Usually most people only suffer this when losing huge amounts of weight. Either, you lost the weight really quickly, like less than a month, and it will tighten on its own, or you still have more fat. How tall are you?

Ah, ok. I am 5'7 too, 165 lbs, around 15% body fat, coming out of bulking. You should be just fine, work on some muscle building, keep up diet, etc. Unless you are over 40, it should tighten up decently fast. I'm already gaining definition on the tops and outside of my belly and just have a retarded "tire" of fat to get rid of now. Anyway, you should have no worries.

I have that fuckin tire shit too. Is the only way to get rid of it to run more?

Good, I'm only 16 so yeah, not over 40.

I'll get back into my ab routines. Thanks.

Eh, more cardio and caloric deficiency. Make sure you are eating less than what you "need" a day in calories. Trust me, you can do this without going hungry, you just need a good diet high in fiber and protein and decently high in "good" fat while maintaining a caloric deficiency. I track my eating at fitday.com and it gives you a rough estimate of your needed calories a day based on your lifestyle, age, activities, etc. Remember it is estimated, but it is working for me. Aim to lose 2 pounds a week, maybe three, but not more or you start losing muscle.

You may just be skinny fat - get some muscle.

Anyone who counts calories is an obsessive freak.
