My trainer has been a good one for me over the past year. I've gotten amazing results using his methods, but he recently gave me a routine that im very skeptical of, so I'm looking to see what /fit/ thinks.

He has me doing 4 sets (12,10,10,8), but it's the split that has me confused. He has me doing Chest/Back on Monday, and then doing Tris/Bis on Tuesday. He has me doing it like this for 4 weeks, and then I switch it to 3 sets (10,8,8) Chest/Bis on Monday and Shoulders/tris Wednesday for the next 7 weeks before switching back to the first routine again for 4 weeks.

The second set up doesn't seem bad, but the first 4 weeks seem like I might overtrain my arms by hitting all of that on monday/tuesday.

So, can you see what he was going for, or does it just look like a shit setup?

If it helps heres an attachment of the routine.

I skimmed it and it looks like he has a day between his chest/back and bis/tris routine. I on the other hand do the two back to back.

I just don't want to overtrain and not grow to my potential. I know you hit bis pretty hard as a secondary when doing back.

My routine before this was chest/tris monday and back/bis tuesday, so I was at least keeping the hitting the secondary on the same day.

Sounds like you didn't mention your legs which means you probably forgot you have a lower back which means you probably don't deadlift which makes you gay.

In that case I agree with you. 4 sets of high reps for two upper body days back to back will leave you with no strength on the second day; you'll most likely over-train. Have you hit a plateau or something? It sounds like he's taking a drastic measure against something.

I'm not asking about my legs. I'm asking about my upper body. If you look at my routine, you would notice I have a leg day that includes SQUATZ!

I was on my old routine for about 14 weeks, so I'm not sure if hes trying to do the whole muscle confusion mix up for 4 weeks before I move on to the 7 week section of the new routine. The second part of the routine seems better set up and spaced out then the first, so he may just be beating my ass for four weeks before I go to the second part.

If it helps he titled the routine Prime/Blast.

> Prime/Blast

Yeah I can see his logic. I guess it is only for 4 weeks.

dude you have a PT your a faggot do your own research and figure your own programs, look at the all the oldschool lifters volume training was the thing back then and they still got massive, youve got a million things to worry about before overtraining daisy, if your feeling flat and tired its most probably got to do with your diet

OP here

/fit/ assumes too much.

My PT is a friend of mine that just happens to be a professional trainer and body builder. I would be stupid not to take advantage of that. Having a more experienced lifter with me can only benefit me. It's free.

Second I never said I was burned out. I just said the conditions were set so it would look like I wouldn't get the maximum benefit from my workout.

Daisy? What is this 1950. Quit showing your lack of knowledge by avoiding my question by making up a lot of assumptions about my diet and me having a personal trainer.

Are you at your max? Do you feel you need to gain more muscle mass? This new program seems like it's just a maintenance filler. Personally, I'd keep the results you have and try it. You're an intimidating mofo. Or maybe it's just the beard....

Seriously who the fuck would be dumb enough to pay for a personal trainer?

A little research is all it takes to achieve your goals and it gives you an even bigger feeling of achievement.

My personal trainer is a 5 foot mail order bride.
Bitch works for her money.

OP here

I don't pay for my PT. He's free, so like I said, it would be stupid not to use it, and he's usually freely available to anwser any questions I have. If you guys know anything about fitness, you know that it's not one size fits all when working out, and thats what a lot of information you find online is.

I did a lot on my own before him and got gains, and my gains have only increased since he started helping.

I finally talked to him today, and he said he's prefatiguing my muscles for cutting.
