Okay /fit/, cardio related question here. I'm 6'0", 175 lbs, with approximately 14% body fat. I usually run, jump rope, and shadow box for my cardio, but I decided to try the stationary bike.

So I get on, put the bastard on hill climb, and 30 minutes later I burned 450 calories with a heart rate consistently between 140-150. Is this ideal for burning fat, or did I push too hard?

Pic unrelated.

I've been pushing pretty hard myself, keeping a 6 degree incline on whatever treadmill exercise I do. My heartrate stays around 170 stable, but I don't do anything sprinting, just light jogging/speed walking.

It may be unrelated, but it's also fucking awesome.

You're certainly not working too hard. That heart rate sounds fine, and as for the calories burned, I think that puts you right around what's considered "vigorous" effort. Mind you, that "vigorous" effort thing is essentially out of my ass...I have a notebook full of lifting/cardio related notes, and I just checked the entry for stationary biking. 450 for 30 minutes at your weight falls under vigorous. I'm sure my numbers aren't complete horse-shit, but meh.

Hm, alright, thanks for the info. I just remember hearing that if you push yourself past a certain point, it becomes harder to burn off the fat (which is obviously my goal).
