Okay mis/fit/s?

On Thursday I've got to teach a martial arts class in our instructors absence. I really want to try and throw in some unique\unusual drills that are fun and benefitial. Does /fit/ have any good martial arts drills, for any age range, as I will be teaching both kids and adults, but seperately?

I'm willing to take drills from any martial arts system as long as they're inventive and memorable.

In return, have a bear in a hat.

OP here, I'm also okay with general fitness type drills.

As a side-topic, and if it derails into it I'm sorry, but what's some basic things to not do in a martial arts class?

Like farting, how allowed is it? (joking)
But really, what are common mistakes, if any

farting is ok and should be.
Especially belts and hakama can make you fart a lot.

Age for more ideas. Have another bear in a hat.

pick out the weakest member and beat him until he's almost dead, then tell them that self defense is no joke and end the class for the day.

Cartwheels, especially on the side that people aren't used to cartwheeling with.

They do them in Capoeira for a reason.

What martial art do you normally use?

Techniques that are counter to your normal martial art work. Hand boxing or grappling in TKD, high kicks in judo or jiujitsu, that sort of thing that you normally don't practice in a specific style.

Taekwondo is about more than just kicking. But it does focus on it.

I did TKD for a while. Axe kicking someone in a real fight is probably one of the dumbest things you can do, and TKD doesn't teach any ground technique.

Sweep a TKD fighter and he's helpless on the ground.

OP here.

Correct traditional Taekwondo has a lot of flashy kicks which are pretty much useless.

We use Taekwondo as our main syllabus for the patterns and techniques and such, but we do a hell of a lot of practical work with very little grounding in the traditional stuff. A lot of elbows and almost clinch fighting style stuff. Our instructor has practised many different martial arts and also has a lot of practical experience working on the door, and so he throws in lots of stuff from other martial arts and from personal experience.

We don't tend to work on fancy jump 360s when a simple elbow strike would work.

But I've always dreamed of doing a Hurricane Kick like Ken and Ryu :(
