Fat loss Anonymous
/fit/,

I am having a lot of trouble losing fat. When I was younger (a child) I became very overweight because of fast food and such and once I became aware of my condition, I made the choice to get in shape and get smaller. So I started working out, doing sit ups and all the junk a younger kid can do, and nothing seemed to work. I gave up for a while, but now I'm at it full on, and have been for about 6 months. Problem? All I do is gain muscle. Not like that's a bad thing, but I'm still soft on the outside and look like I don't take care of myself, even know I'm pushing like crazy. Any tips? I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week, and I'm always on my bike. More details later.

If you want to focus on shedding the flab, do intense cardio first, then weight lift after you've hit your target weight to add definition.

Yep, you need to do a ton of cardio. I don't know how much you're on the bike, but if you're workout consists mostly of musclegain, then you're just going to build muscle underneath the fat. You need to burn off that fat too.

elliptical machines are your best friend. also, drink a lot of water and try to cut out ANY processed sugar.

I've managed to drop 20 pounds of fat weight and gained about 5-8 pounds muscle just doing that. I haven't changed my workout routine at all either, except logical steps up in weightlifting.

OP again.

Yeah. that's more what I was thinking. At the gym, my routine is a 250 to 300 calorie / half hour-ish bike run and then go to the gym, and this is on top of riding my actual bike a half hour to and from the bike park. The weight lifting/strength is no issue at all though, and as far as that goes I'm really satisfied with the results so far. I have stopped drinking any kind of carbonated drinks/soda/canned drinks and so on, about a month ago, and I'm sure that will make a big difference.
