Dear /fit/ I am an ectomorphic female, looking to tone up my hips and thighs, I like being slim and I don't want to gain weight, just firm up muscle. Would increasing protein intake help at all, or would it just cause me to gain weight and "bulk" up? (I know I won't get huge man muscles btw - I just dont want to gain anymore weight/mass.

You just need instruction, a well balanced diet, high protein, and low carbs... work your muscles as a man, it won't turn you into one... I'm ectomorphic too... I gained 11 Kg in 4 months when I started, but no fat... It's almost impossible to not gain some weight... muscles grow...

so, don't worry about the weight, you just need to care about what the mirror says... weight is just numbers... work hard, don't forget to eat...

forgot to tell you... try to run for about 20 minutes 3 times a week... that is to start... as you gain strenght, you increase the time, to a maximum of 40 min... ask a nutritionist about a diet... it's the best way... do not trust the internet so much, you're gonna find a lot of stuff... but many of it may not help...
