If you don't run regularly, you'll need to be sure to pace yourself so that you don't gas out too early. It's better to have some energy left, and really be able to haul the last quarter mile than it is to just be completely dead, and have a quarter mile left to go. Also, depending on how long you have between waking up and running, you may want to eat. Other than that, just be sure to stretch, and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
