hey /fit/

This is my first time on this board and I have some questions regarding weight gain/muscle gain/and wrist & ankle growth

1. I have a very small bone structure (It's genetic, both my parents have tiny bones). My wrists and ankles are particularly small. All throughout high school I've had to deal with people talking to me about "how easily they could snap my wrists in half." I NEED to know if there is a way to make my wrists and ankles thicker.

Next question: I also have a fast metabolism, this is mainly what I've attributed to my inability to gain weight (believe me, I've tried) However, now that high school is over I have a lot of time to dedicate to sculpting my body. I need to know, what foods should I be eating and how often should I be eating them in order to gain weight.

Final question: Should I start working out right away or should I wait until I have fat to convert into muscle? I'm afraid that my body will look disproportional as a result of exercising without a base to work on.

Oops sorry, one more: In addition to wanting better looking abs/biceps/calves, I also want to sculpt my thighs and neck. I have absolutely no knowledge of how to do that. My thighs are not much bigger than my calves and I'm very self-conscious of that, and my neck is very weak and brittle, it often snaps if I move it too quickly. What exercises can you recommend and do my problems seem serious enough that I should consult a professional. I would sincerely appreciate any help you can offer, I'm aspiring to work in a career that doesn't necessarily demand me to be in top physical condition, by certainly be attractive by conventional standards.

BTW, pic sort of related, it's a body type similar to mine, just imagine much smaller wrists and not as much muscle.

>just imagine much smaller wrists and not as much muscle
But they don't have muscle.

>fat to convert into muscle

Fat does not turn into muscle. Muscle does not turn into fat. They are completely different tissues.

You need to eat a lot to gain muscle. Don't use the excuse that you have a fast metabolism. Tons of people do and yet have accomplished building impressive physiques. Until you have been eating 5000+ calories a day and still haven't gained then you can complain. There are powerlifters out there who eat 10,000 calories a day. THAT my friend is a fast metabolism.

You need to eat:
vegetables
oatmeal
chicken
cottage cheese
milk
olive oil
natural peanut butter

Things like those.

As for exercises, do squats, deadlifts and benches. Do 5x5 (five sets of five reps). Use HEAVY weights. That's the only way to get bigger.

I was referring to the rest of his body, I know wrists are just bone & tissue. But thanks for adding something constructive... -_-

Thank you for replying, I copied your response but I do have one more question: How often should I do push ups & sit ups or should I even bother doing them at all? Thanks in advance

>>168475
Do you have a comedy central special coming up? Please let me know so I can tune in when it premieres. Keep gobbling on those knobs, faggot :D

>>168489
Screw push ups, unless you're doing them with someone standing on your back they don't offer enough resistance to make you big and strong.

And unless you're doing sit-ups on a decline with a 45lb plate held tightly to your chest they're a waste of time. You need to lift HEAVY.

>and not as much muscle.

Yup, pretty pathetic huh? Funny thing is, i think that clinically I could be considered anorexic, but I eat more food than anyone else in my family on a consistent basis.

WOAH you're slimmer than I am buddy, and I'm about 135 at 5'11". Same deal with the wrists too.

Being so similar I can offer you a few tips. Firstly, you can't increase the size of your wrists and ankles, now the bones on there anyway, you can however eat doughnuts till fat covers them, but that would also make you one gigantic fat fuck by that time. Also, us small boned guys don't cope too well with all that weight.
What you can do and what I have done, is build up the muscles in your forearms. This has a nice effect to it, because while your wrists stay puny, it looks like you have really beefy forearms. This can be done by holding shitloads of weight for a while, like in deadlifts.
Secondly with the ankles, there isn't a lot that can be done about them. You can do some calf raises holding some insanely loaded up dumbell and build up the calves, which would give you the same effect of the forearm building. But remember your SKWATZ, need to have epic heug legs to support beefy calves.

As for 'gaining fat to turn into muscle'. Impossible, they are completely unrelated, however you need to start eating big! Aim for about 2500 calories a day and start the 5x5 stronglifts training regimen. This will get your neck bigger through pullups and cleans, and the SQUATZ will do amazing work to your thighs.

OP, I'm in the exact same situation as you. In junior high some girl called me chicken legs ;/ I also had fractured/broken both wrists (separate occasions) while snowboarding, stunting bone growth in that area during my adolescence.

I'll tell you right now, there isn't much you can do for making those areas of your body bigger (I still have small wrists and ankles). You can however, perform stretches focusing on your wrists and ankles before you work out or run.

I'm pretty cut now, and actually have defined muscle on my body. I run and work out (check out some of the routines from some /fit/ masters and pick out ones you think would work for you). Now girls like touching my abs and chest and don't really notice my smaller wrists or ankles. More Importantly, my wrists and ankles just aren't as much of a concern for me anymore. You'd be surprised how tricky symmetry and proportions can be.

constructive criticism time;

very small pecks, esp. your lower pecs. look on exrx.net to find some good workouts.

i dont see ANY traps or shoulder muscle, make that priority. it really goes a long way to making you look big

ok, again we have almost zero pecs, traps, forearms, or delts (shoulders).

http://exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

go there, look for muscles you need to train, and do the work correctly. you will see serious results with a bulk diet, 3000+ calories of health. fruits, veg, skinless chicken (boiled), etc. good luck.

pic related.

Yeah, no. He just needs to eat lots, and do compound excersises like military presses and push/pull ups, not one of the 50 billion isolation excersises you can find on that site.

Is a full body workout with a every other scheduel alright for a skinny guy? Something along the lines of 2500~ calories a day?
>> Anonymous
>>170040

That fact that you're thin should tell you that you have a fast metabolism, and may want to aim for more than 2500. Alot more.

Unless you're a midget.

Problem is, I like to eat healthy and there aint much healthy food that have alot of calories(feel free to prove me wrong) so unless I stuff my face with food all day long I dont know what to do

Roughly a handful of peanuts will equal out to about 200 calories.

Good fat and protein, and the little niggers are tasty.

Oh and by the way I am 6'1" and 154 lbs..

eat healthy foods (the motto: "if you can kill it or grow it, it's OK" is a decent start), and maybe a protein supplement.

eat 3000-4000 calories per day (if you eat less than that, work up to it slowly)

do *anaerobic* bodyweight cardio OR lift free weights OR take up a sport with lots of conditioning

>>170067
btw
egg = 70 per egg
milk = 150 per cup
natural peanut butter = ~100 per tablespoon
