So /fit/,

Is it alright to drink 0 calorie soda? I've been drinking that clear fruit soda that comes in 1 liter bottles lately.

Are there honestly any negative effects?

Recently, there have been studies popping up all over the place that aspartame and other artificial sugar makes you GAIN weight.

It's best to stick with fruit juice if you're craving a sweet drink. If it's carbonation that you crave, mix juice and club soda - it's awesome.

I think diet coke leading to weight gain is just a myth. The people who do gain weight are probably the people who order diet coke and think they can eat whatever the hell else they want and not get fat.

Basically, water is always better. But having two cans a day won't do you any harm. I've been having at least one can a day for over ten years now, and I'm perfectly fine. I started to drink them when I was about nine since my then 19 year old brother obtained diabetes.

according to that article/study the scientists concluded that the artificial sugar sets up the brain for a greater calorie intake (preparing for sugar), when its denied that the body reacts and you get an increase in appetite.

its self-defeating, unless you are in control of your hunger, you end up eating more because of the diet-artificial-sugar-soda.

I find that odd, really. I'm the poster above yours. I guess 10+ years of consuming the stuff has just gotten my body used to it.
