Hi /fit/. You guys are the closest people I know to dentists, so I have a question.

When I brush, I usually finished up with suck all the saliva from my throat and mouth up and out into the sink. Normal enough.

Sometimes, though, there's a kind of brown stringy-looking substance in it. And if I stick my finger back there and scrape around right behind my teeth/in my cheek-gum gap, and pull it out, my finger will be covered it. Disgusting etc., but seriously.

I've checked my diet and changed it around a bit but it's still there sometimes. I don't even know what to Google to learn about it. Maybe it's even something obvious I'm just too retarded to understand.

Either way, shit scares me. Is this something specific that can be rid of?

I'm actually underweight which throws off YOUR ENTIRE PLAN.

And I already have AIDS anyway.

Okay, floss once a day or once every other day, use mouthwash before and after you brush, and brush your tongue or get a tongue scrubber and use it. It's not blood or anything it's just remnants of things you ate that built up throughout the day.

Also, I recommend carrying gum with you during the day.

That sounds basic enough.

I was worried I had fungi growing in my throat or something.

Try buying antiseptic listerine and gargling with it a couple times a day. Or ask a damn doctor.

It's just hardened dental plaque, OP. In the olden days, they used to call it "tartar". While the normal "accepted" average colour tends to be yellow, brown is a common colour.

Just brush your teeth thoroughly in those areas, and go to a dentist to get some scaling done to remove it.

I'd recommend against hte mouthwash and chewing gum. Even the "sugarfree" ones are dusted with powdered sugar, and both have been proven to be ineffective against the very things it advertises its effectiveness.

Chewing gum is only sort of effective since the chewing motion triggers your salivary glands to produce more spit. OP, that sounds awful and disgusting.
