I run three miles a day five days per week, and I've recently lost a lot of weight (40+ lbs.) due to this, plut diet and other exercise (160 lbs. now)

However, I'm also borderline alcoholic; I know how alcohol effects the body's fat-burning process (liver converts alcohol to acetate, body burns that instead of fat until it's out of your system), and I was wondering:

- will alcohol itself make you fat? I NEVER eat while I'm drinking (srsly NEVER, I'm too paranoid about this), or is it just due to eating while drunk (+increased appetite, etc.)

if one drinks alcohol but doesn't eat anything while doing so, are they (mostly) in the clear?

- is any alcohol particularly less fattening than any other? Is stuff better than beer, etc.

yes you can loose weight and fat while drinking. you will also loose muscle mass.
you will also destroy your liver, and if you drink too often you will no longer have the capacity to feel the emotion of having accomplished anything.

On the plus side though if you don't eat food at all you will find it easier to get drunk. seriously try fasting for a day then drinking a couple low proof drinks. you'll feel it hit you fast.

I don't mind losing muscle so much, though I know it's not really very healthy

so as long as I don't eat at all (which I won't), I could toss back lots of rum and be fine?

The alcohol itself is a hydrocarbon. It has seven calories per gram. Proteins and carbs have 4, fats have 9. So yes, just the drinking itself will hurt you, regardless of eating. Plus, all the ways it bones your metabolism. As in all things, moderation is your friend.

i'm fucking fatass german and can drink with the best of them

one day i didn't eat from 6am to 12am, then i ordered a glass of merlot

long story short, i drank 1.5 glasses of merlot and was drunk by the end

i was as shocked as everyone else

i waited it off a couple hours, did a multiplication table in my head, walked around to make sure i was alert, then drove home and my night was over
