I know eggs are an important part of any fitness diet but which way is best to prepare them?

I usually have them boiled or scrambled, but in all these training montages you seen on TV/in movies etc you see people eating eggs raw or put in a blender raw. Do people actually do that? Is it safe?

Don't bother. The proteins aren't as digestible in raw eggs and raw egg whites block biotin absorption.

Just microwave them

that sounds nasty. boiling/scrambling are easy, why not them?

Try these if you want to drink eggs:

>> w/ CSCS + BS in exerc phys
raw

(and yes, there is endless literature on both ends of this arguement...yadda yada raw protein isnt digestible, counter w. cooked egg's protein is denatured over ~120F, etc)

Depends how many your talking about.
Try eating 10 boiled eggs, then try drinking 10 eggs. Bet you can drink them but you cant eat them. Means more calorie intake ect. Heard they have alot of cholestorol (sp) though

microwaving eggs actually works better than you'd expect if you've never done it before. Just crack the egg into a bowl or deep plate and nuke it for about 30 seconds per egg. You can also buy little plastic trays that make it a nice shape.

Only old people and babies are really susceptible to salmonella

>ENJOY YOUR SALMONELLA.

Yeah, like I said, any harmful bacteria (salmonella included) live on the outside of the egg. People have been eating raw or undercooked eggs without ill effects for thousands of years.

im 27 and in shape and selmonella almost killed me
fucking ate these pot pies that had it for like a week and ended up in the hospital after 4 straight days of vomit rollercoaster. took 3 bags of fluid and injection of potassium lol

If I remember correctly, you chances of getting salmonella from drinking raw eggs is about the same as winning the lottery.

sound like the usual bullshit people pull out of their asses on here, got anything to back it up with?

actually ground beef was what the guy was eating in the show i mentioned here>>298757

it had went beyond the grey colour it usually goes before you throw it out, it looked fucking awful but he cooked it and ate it and was fine and the microbiologist guy said it was fine.

he did say it had a slightly "game" flavour to it though

you can do it with ground beef, but I was just using it as the example as it's the most dangerous. In most other foods, the bacteria that makes you sick is only found on the surface. that's why you can eat steak rare. however, in ground beef, the insides are exposed to the air where it can make contact with bacteria and allow it to multiply. so, really, I wouldn't risk it with ground beef...or ground anything.

Beef has a very nice flavour when it's at that 'slightly gone' brown stage. I do worry that I might get ill from it though...

>counter w. cooked egg's protein is denatured over ~120F, etc

what does it matter if the protein is denatured. Your body doesn't absorb the entire protein and put it to use. you are still getting the amino acids which your body will use to build it's own proteins

Fuck, did no one pay attention to my post on>>298570??

Raw egg whites have avidin, which prevents biotin absorption by binding to it. I guess no one cares because it doesn't have a familiar name, like vitamin C.

hey boss

before you start spouting this and thats, i SAID in my previous post taht the literature GOES BOTH FUCKING WAYS, its literally a wash, but i find more credence with the raw (organic, fresh, local, omega 3) eggs than cookin'em.

but in the end.

it simply d/n matter

>>299330
I didn't mean to quote you in particular (if you're that CSCS guy). The biotin thing isn't debatable. Literature does not go both ways on that. It's a fact.
>> degree n' shit Anonymous
>>299337
yes (CSCS) and yes (biotin), we agree on that, BUT there are also valid research done on the denature point of egg protein. it is very low. thats the trade off. I know too many MSc's are are FAR smarter than me and who work w/the canadian Olympic team (anaerobic winter sports) that recommend to do the eggs raw (washed of course). No research will ever beat those who KNOW and who PRACTICE in the field.

they also eat horse...so what can you do...

that is why i do raw and, all told, believe it to be a better option than cooked. (ESPECIALLY microwaved). but, in the end, if this really matters. (ie. my last post on this

I just stick the frypan on hi, crack eggs into a bowl and beat them up with a fork. when the pan is hot i dump em in and swish em around until its all cooked

put onto some nice brown toast.
