Zero Calorie Foods Anonymous
A friend of mine looks anorexic, though I've yet to really confirm it. The other day she claimed an apple was a "zero-calorie food," meaning it took more calories to digest than than calories it contains. Is this the truth or some anorexic myth?

either way, its a fuckin apple. Eat em up.

wow, total bullshit- she's a shitty anorexic.

there ARE NO ZERO CALORIE FOODS- not even celery. For the record, apples tend to run about 70-100 calories. Eat them anyways, they are good for you.

Anyway, It usually takes an hour(ish) to burn 100 calories or so, without exercising. So if the bitch takes that long to eat one, then technically, yeah.

how many calories does celery have then? (curious)

Like, 15.

Dude, you could eat garden vegetables all day and still lose weight. Tell your friend to stop being such a pussy.

I think she means "negative-calorie", you burn more calories than you take in while eating celery and such.

You should probably talk to her about her behavior, that's dangerous territory she's stepping in.

potatoes grow in the garden...

Yes, and those are still good for you. What's your point?

Tell your friend your body burns a certian amount of calories in order to continue, you know, living. Tell her apples and celery are great and all, but then force-feed her a fucking sandwich.

doesnt need very many though... you can survive 60 days with no food at all. most likely you could survive for years on 100 cal per day.

tell your friend not to starve, but to eat normally and do some fucking exercise. lazy bitch.

Rabbit starvation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_starvation

Obviously not as simple as 'zero calorie food', but it's one example of how you can eat regularly and still starve, even to the point of death.

There are plenty of things you could ingest, and digest, that provide so few calories you would be forced to eat a much larger volume of them in order to sustain life, when compared to the volume ingested in a more varied diet, with celery as one example. Not very satisfying, though.
