What does fit think of long grain brown rice, black beans and split peas? I just made some delicious chicken soup with the above ingredients, but now I'm wondering if it has the right type of carbs in it. Is rice always bad in this regard?

White rice is a refined carbohydrate, meaning its bran has been removed during processing, and if it is "converted" it has been blanched. Processing of this sort results in food being less nutritious. Next time use brown rice.

Black beans and split peas are legumes that contain fiber and protein and little carbohydrate, and are quite good for you.

Just, next time use brown rice.
