Bad razor burn on neck. I don't really have acne but this shit is bugging me. Really red and raw.

I've been using a 4 blade shaver and some moisturizer after. I'm careful about shaving the right way, but it still gives me this red shit. Would it be smart to shave my neck with an electric razor? I've been slapping aloe on it.

electric razors are for faggots.

make sure the shaving cream has warmed up. after shaving take A HOT SHOWER the steam and hot water will open your pores and you wont' get razor burn. I know becuase I used to get really bad razor burn but this technique works like a charm

there are products for that. Look for stuff meant for razor burn. Usually they are mostly alcohol based and burn a bit but after about a week or 2 of using the burn should go away. Also make sure to shave correctly

You're doing it wrong.

I've had sensitive skin as well, so sensitive that even shaving with the grain it would still bleed.

Then i paid the hefty sum for an electric. Has worked with minimal bleeding ever since.

Speaks the truth. I shave with a straight razor, and I have very sensitive skin. Do what he says, and you'll have no problem with razor burn.

OK i'll try that.

I checked and my razor has 5 blades- gilette fusion quattro or whatever the fuck it is.

Should I get one with less blades = less fuckup?

In theory more blades = less passes over the same area of skin.

I used to get really bad rashes and breakouts on my jawbone and under the chin after I shaved. I now only shave every other day (seriously, who notices), only shave after a shower or soaking my face with a hot cloth, and also use shaving oil instead of or in addition to shave foam/gel. Shaving oil is awesome. It comes in a tiny peewee little bottle, but by damn, it lasts FOREVER.

So shaving oil works better than the gel?
>> Anonymous
OP, do you shave upwards?
>> Anonymous
>>261836
In my experience, yes. If you want you can put on gel over the oil for uber-lubrication.

shaving oil is a preshave thing(apply it a few minutes before cream/gel). it softens the skin, hairs and kinda makes the hairs stand up a little. then after applying the oil use shave gel or cream of your choice.

pro tip: shave in the shower.

OP here. I shave in the shower yes

But although i'm trying not to, I sometimes shave up against the grain. I do it really lightly though.

It still fucks me up.

hey OP
I shave with a 4 blade razor, but I use sorbolene cream in place of shave oils / gels / foam.

I always shave with the grain, never against. I shave after showering.

Never had a problem with this...I used to buy several different shave oils and moisturizers and pretty much all that crap the queer eye people flogged. All a big marketing gimmick.

Sorbolene works a treat, and it moisturizes at the same time. I haven't changed my gillette mach3 razor in half a year, and I never get razor bumps. You just have to take your time and always shave with the grain gl.

yea i was asking if you shave upwards to say NOT to do that if you do..lol.

I use to shave upwards when i first started shaving cause it would get a closer shave.

but then as I aged a lil more and started to get more facial hair i use to get bumbs from doing that.

.
go to a 2 or 3 blade razor, the 5 blade may be shaving you too close...

also try a preshave oil, and let the shave cream/gel sit for a minute on your face before shaving over it.

Get a safety razor like the Merkur Heavy Duty. Best shaving item you'll ever buy.

don't use multiple blade razors and don't use moisturizer with fragrance or excessive alcohol.

>>gillette mach3 razor in half a year

LOL - he's shaving peach fuzz

just use some damn soap. i used gels and they were all shit for me. and make sure your razor is sharp. that's probably one of the easiest ways to irritate your skin, by shaving with a dull razor.

and you don't really need more than two blades either. i end up buying the bic, and to be honest i find they're sharper than any other ones (i've tried the gillete machs and what not, they were shit for me.)

1. Three blades MAXIMUM. Don't use more, they cut the shit out of you despite pretending like it is a better shave.

2. And the "less passes" thing is bullshit. Shave down for one pass, followed with up for a pass, and you will have an easy close shave regardless of blades.

3. see pic

Fuck yes, I SWEAR by that shaving cream. I've never gotten a smoother shave with no cuts or anything else.
