/fit/, I cut my knee pretty badly on something Saturday night on the walk home (At least 1/4 of an inch deep). Not sure what it was, so I was thinking I need a tetanus shot. However, it's been a couple of days since then, and it's already starting to heal. Do you think I still need a tetanus shot, or would I have already start to show signs of tetanus at this point?

Basically, I don't have any money until I get paid on Friday. Is it a good idea to wait until then or is it not even worth bothering at that point?

I'd love to but that costs money that I don't have right now. I guess I'll enjoy my tetanus

Incubation time (the time before the first symptoms manifest) is between 3 days and 3 weeks with tetanus. So you could very well have tetanus despite the 3 days without symptoms.

Tetanus is a very serious thing that can be fatal even if you're treated once the first sypmtoms show. So yes, you should get a shot just out of caution. Also: It is really really painfull!

I probably have had one, I just can't remember when and if I was it was probably a long time ago, like when I was in grade school

It takes between 2 and 8 years before the so called titer levels fall beyond a reasonable concentration of antitoxins to prevent an infection.

Ha, I live in the UK. I did a very similar thing. Guess what happened to me? I called up the NHS free advice line, I described the wound and they told me to go to my local A&E room. I did so, and they gave me a tetnus shot. Really simple. Total cost to me? Nothing.

Go see you doctor, even if it costs. For me, the risk wouldn't be worth it.
