Is it a good thing to be vegetarian or is there a reason that you should eat meat? Recently, I thought it would be beneficial, but my muscles are slowly diminishing, which might be attributed to college course work minus time to do everything else.

I could never go without eating meat again. Meat has protein in it. Sure nuts have it too but it's not as satisfying. Be a man. Eat meat.

ITS NOT

From the Northwestern University Website:

>Protein from animal sources (meat, fish, dairy products, egg white) is considered high biological value protein or a "complete" protein because all nine essential amino acids are present in these proteins. An exception to this rule is collagen-derived gelatin which is lacking in tryptophan.

>Plant sources of protein (grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds) generally do not contain sufficient amounts of one or more of the essential amino acids. Thus protein synthesis can occur only to the extent that the limiting amino acids are available. These proteins are considered to have intermediate biological value or to be partially complete because, although consumed alone they do not meet the requirements for essential amino acids, they can be combined to provide amounts and proportions of essential amino acids equivalent to high biological proteins from animal sources.

> Plants that are entirely lacking in essential amino acids are considered incomplete proteins or sources of low biological value protein. These sources include most fruits and vegetables. A low biological value means that it is difficult or impossible to compensate for insufficient amounts of essential amino acids by combining different sources as with partially complete proteins.

Now comes the fun part. If you have an essential amino acid deficiency your body your body needs to get the essentials aminos from somewhere - your body begins to cannabilise itself. This leads to a condition known as Protein-Energy Malnutrition (PEM)

Fuck, well would meat stop the body cannibalism?

Could PEM lead to weight loss?

A moderate amount of meat and/or dairy with your veggies is the healthiest option

yes because you are losing muscle mass, but see a doctor anyway in case its something else

If you use supplements and eat the right foods, your body can function just fine without meat.

But that's not why I hate vegetarians. I hate them because refusing to eat meat is stupid. I hate them because my cafeteria is always serving dishes that would NORMALLY be delicious, but instead they omit the meat and make it a "vegetarian option". I hate them because they try to push their views onto other people. I hate them because I LOVE eating meat, and they look at me like I'm doing something wrong. Newsflash morons: We are SUPPOSED to eat meat, as well as plants. We're omnivores, DUR. And it's not like animals really have feelings, and even if they do, it doesn't matter.

So in short, I could tolerate vegetarians if they:
-kept it to themselves
-didn't press cafeterias to have more fucking "vegetarian options"
-didn't always ruin the fun of going out to eat ("I can't go to that place, every dish has meat")
-didn't try to take some kind of moral high ground
Sorry, I know that doesn't answer your question at all. It's just that there's rarely an opportunity to really RAAAAAGE about vegetarians.

To answer your original question: YES there are reasons you should eat meat. You can manage without it, but it's much simpler (and more delicious) to just eat some lovely meat.

now comes the hard question, what would be a good diet for a 208.4 lb male 5 foot 10 in?

vitamin supplements aren't natural, they are chemically processed into pill form... which is ironic since they whine about a naturall lifestyle

I eat meat but thanks to this post am STRONGLY considering going vegetarian.

Anyways, you can get by without meat but you don't just go "lol im not eatin meats nao." You have to do your homework and make sure you're getting everything you need, or you WILL run into problems.

I don't think it's as hard as people think it is, though.

moderate amount of meat and dairy with plenty of veggies and whole grains, and drink water.

NOOOO:
-high sat. fat (its in some things naturally, just watch the amount)
-High fructose corn syrup (its in everything, its a big factor in diabetes and it makes you hungry. Read labels)

Exercize for 1-3 hours a day and watch the pounds melt off

DIETS ARE STUPID AND POINTLESS UNLESS YOU HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION. Its all about getting your ass off the couch and not overeating.

The vegetarian arguments that we are supposed to be herbivores are weak, unsubstantiated, and incomplete. Humans are opportunistic eaters. We eat whatever we can get, including meat.

We have pointy canines of carnivores and instead of sharp teeth we have molars to break up food like herbivores

WE ARE OMNIVORES. LEARN 2 BIOLOGY

the biggest problem is that vegetarians have no concept of biology or natural order

the people who would never eat meat, even in terms of survival are evidence of natural selection. their deaths prevent passing on their genes

Lose most of the fat THEN gain muscle. You can't see muscle under fat you know.

I think it would be best to try and lose all the muscle underneath first, and THEN put on fat. By doing this I think he could achieve the most spherical look possible.
