hi there /fit/, I have a question.

I'm trying to get back into going out for late night run/jog/walks now that it's not -2 after sunset, and I've done a few trips out so far this spring, but I find myself extremely lightheaded when I finish if I've seriously pushed my heartrate (like sprinting up large hills). Will this go away as I get back into shape, or am I just fucked?

Note #1: there are lots of large hills here
Note #2: about 6,000 feet above sea level in elevation

also, I'm really lightheaded now, what can I do to make this go away?

for the same amount of exercise, as you get into shape it will go away

of course, as you get into shape, presumably you'll start pushing yourself harder, and if you push hard enough, no matter how fit you are, you can always feel lightheaded

to stop feeling lightheaded, just rest. sit down. if you're feeling dehydrated, drink some water, but not too much

I assume it's cold outside when you're running, have some water, get in bed, make sure you're warm.

I will also assume that with conditioning your light headed-ness will go away in the long run.

Assuming of course.

Control your breathing. After a run when I feel like I´m going to die I run cold water over my head and monitor my breathing.

Don´t sit down. Walk in circles or pace around while consciously monitoring your breathing and heart rate. Drink a glass of not cold water.

Don´t eat greasy or fatty foods the day you want to run.

I'm no professional and have no education in it, but my common sense dictates it can't be healthy to continually push yourself that far.

Your common sense is wrong. If you feel lightheaded, that's okay. Just means you're getting close to exhausting yourself. If you puke, that's verging on too hard. If you pass out, then that's too hard.

Good idea. Just plopping down is no good, lactic acid builds up in your muscles, makes em hurt, and it comes out faster if you keep the muscles moving. Also, drink water, keep your sugars up, but don't eat too much. That makes you puke.
