Or close to it.

/fit/, I need some help. I've been overweight since God knows when, and I need some help losing weight. It doesn't help that I'm constantly sitting down at work and school. And my diet isn't consistent and complete at all, but I need some tips on weight-loss in terms of exercise. Trying to make a change in my exercise habits first. So, basically I need some frontal tips about exercise and ways to get motivated.

By the way, I do play Dance Dance revolution from time-to-time, but it ain't cuttin' it.

diet and exercise go hand in hand with weight loss period. if you skimp on your diet or on your exercise the forget about it. anyway, heres a real great way to lose weight which doesnt require any equipment; running. i think the ideal amount of time spent running/cardio exercises is at least 20 minutes. get to it noob.

20 minutes is actually the required minimum of a "healthy" individual, 20 minutes of moderate to intense exercise a day

Could you give me some better advice on diet? I mean, I stay away from fatty foods. Pork, fried foods, snacks, and etc. I've been the same weight for over two years.

at the least, do some push ups and crunches every day (I do 50 push ups and 150 crunches a night) and gradually rise that over time. Walk to places that are close that you would normally drive to. as for now, I'd recommend some good ol' bicyclin' or jogging/running to start shedding some pounds and eventually, when summer rolls around, swim.

GL anon, I can relate. last summer, I weighed 205 pounds, and I wanted a change. Every other day I ran to a park that was a mile away, did a shit load of sprints, crunches, pushups, bear crawls, etc and swam A LOT. the next time I checked myself, I had lost 20 pounds.

(for the record, I did not have any soda or fast food, but occasional ice cream or chips)
>> Anonymous
also, if you drink soda, stop. drink something else instead, juice or propel did it for me. cutting sodas out of my diet took like ~600 calories a day out my daily intake. also carbonation makes you fatigue faster and workout alot less.

in my class right now we are doing interval runs, because interval running actually burns more calories then moderate running for the same amount of time

tl;dr run for 30 seconds like theres a lion chasing your fat ass. stop for 30 seconds and do it again, like 20 or so time.

easy 20 minute workout

DO NOT RUN IF YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT!!!! you will fuck yourself up big time (knees, etc, I did and I was ramping up slowly... I'm 200 pounds and my normal weight is 175, so I'm not horribly fat but running still fucked me). do stepping, rowing and cycling. SRSLY. never run ever unless you are slender.

>>10229me again.

last year i was also about 205 pounds. all i did for the most part was change my diet and dropped down to 175 pounds by the end of summer.

Gotta hand it to you. That is rather impressive. Problem being, aren't many legal places to walk here. Stupid inner-city. We have so few sidewalks, that you're better off driving. That, and everything I need is well over an hour walking distance.

(I will say this, I do drop weight freaking fast. I lost 5 lbs in one week from just diet and exercise)

ok ill try to help and be nice. first thing youve got to remember is that spot training doesnt work to reduce weight in any particular area ok? so doing a thousand crunches wont give you a 6 pack unless your diet and calorie consumption/use is modified. basically you need to burn more calories than you take in. avoid any fast food period none of it is good for you. avoid any processed food if you can manage. fruits and vegetables are your friend. chicken can be very lean and delicious as can fish, especially salmon. watch it with beef, its not something you want more than like once a week, if even that. drink a LOT of water, this is important. dont fucking water intoxicate yourself, but you get the drill. also look into fasting every so often. no soda, stay the fuck away from sugar. yeah basically eat natural stuff.

Thanks for the advice. I'ma try to lose 20 lbs over the next three weeks. I'll probably pop back in /fit/ if/when that happens.

I was on a treadmill.......

haha wow, learn to run then i guess. dont over do it.

maybe check into a gym and hit up the indoor pool?

swimming is such win, it exercises your whole body and is pretty fun. as a bonus, get a friend to race with (fastest and longest).

oh, and this might be a long shot but if you can, play badminton, great conditioning imo.

oh and I know you are asking for exercise shit but here's a tidbit of info, whenever your really hunger, eat apples. your stomach growls when you're low on glucose and complex carbs (like apples) fix that right up.

you could always become a horrid chain smoker. i hear that helps people lose weight. plus it probably cures alzheimer's
>> Anonymous
but ya dont over do it at first.

if you have a tread mill, start out at a walking pace. for like 5 minutes for a couple days. next ramp it up to 10 minutes and so on untill you get around 30 minutes, after your comfortable for walking for 30 minutes, end the walking with a minute or two of jogging, and keep increasing the jogging.

ah yes, I did run into some other good information. this should prove useful

The Morning After Pill: Your A.M. PRE-BRUSH Routine

Before you brush your teeth or hair, make sure to turn on your body’s engine. Don’t sneak in breakfast before this routine either, an empty stomach is better. As soon you roll out of bed stand up, spread your legs a little wider than shoulder length apart and reach up for the sky. Get a good stretch in this manner and re-align your bones and awaken your muscles. After that do this speedy day starter routine:

1. Perform 25 shoulder width push ups
2. Perform 25 close grip push ups
3. Perform 20 Crunches
4. Perform 20 weight-less Squats, use a broom stick if you like
5. Perform 20 more Crunches
6. Perform 20 Jumping Jacks
7. Perform 15 Push ups, your choice of type
8. Perform 20 more Crunches
9. Perform 20 more Jumping Jacks
10. Perform 20 more Squats
11. Perform a Shower Marine!

NOTE: Perform all these exercises consecutive with as little rest as possible, 30 seconds at maximum. The point of the Morning After is kick start your day with a major sweat. You are starting your body’s fire on an empty stomach.

OP doesnt sound like hes in shape for all of that.

Proper ignition is key in any fire. Same holds true with getting your metabolism rolling towards optimal weight loss. So with that being said, implement these seldom considered diet and health aides.

1. Cayenne – Simply put, Cayenne is pure gun powder. It pops viruses out your system and fortifies your little immune system soldiers. On top of that overall health benefit Cayenne is a metabolic dynamo, it’ll make you sweat and remember sweat is GOOD!Try to consume two teaspoons daily. Whether you mix it your vegetables or dump it on top of a chicken breast, no matter, just bury it down the hatchet.

2. Ginger – Hard training can put a strain on your immune system. It is not uncommon for individuals pushing themselves hard during weight loss training to come down with nasty viral infections. The reason is simple: you are taken your body where it hasn’t been before and this shock to the system can leave your immune system reeling and open for invasion. This is where Ginger can aid. Ginger is a stomach healer. Ginger will calm down even the most upset stomachs. Besides its tummy benefits it soothes the throat. And if that weren’t enough, yes Ginger does get your metabolism activated. Burning calories and keeping them burning are what Ginger can do. Buy at least 2 pounds of Ginger. Take those two pounds and boil it in half a gallon of water (get the big pot from grandma) for 6 minutes on high. Let it sit for 9 minutes and pour into a big pitcher. Drink at least 3 cups a day. Chill it and bring it to work. As an added bonus Ginger kills yucky mouth germs!
3. Lemon – Add it to water and let it cut the grease in your body. Lemons are a known catalyst in fat melting. Consume at least half a lemon a day and you could burn off a pound a week! Squeeze a lemon on your salad or over your chicken breast. I tend not to over recommend lemon because of the latest trend of individuals developing “Acid reflux” and other esophageal issues. I personally believe these people are predisposed because of years of damage with the consumption of fake, preservative filled juices. But nevertheless don’t let me get side tracked…this is a no wimps edition! Eat lemons and burn fat every second. The vitamin C laden lemon will also provide muscle and immune system support. So get sour and fit.

Pops viruses out and fortifies your soldiers?

What. The. Fuck.

For the love of god, I hope no one is paying attention to this greasy hippy bullshit.

I actually heard those were excellent spices/fruit to be using/taking on a regular basis as well as vitamins and minerals. Especially with the current seasonal illnesses. (cold, flu, etc.) It's very important to keep not only energy high, but also to fortify your body. It must be why each winter, I go through some phase and I get an addiction to Ginger Ale. (And my mom thought I was just addicted)

As for the lemon thing, I'll try that. More lemon and cayenne pepper sauce. Got it. I'm actually taking notes on important things here.

Note: Dairy is alright, over-consumption leads to the production of phlegm. Gross. Starting to get less and less attracted to the idea of eating cheese. (Although it is my main source of calcium)
>>10307
Well, they aren't joking about it. That stuff kills sickness. My cousin who is 3 times my age took some of that and got over a cold in one day.
>> Anonymous
most definitely. also, mac on blueberries and mixed, unsalted nuts. I think the recommended amount was 2 lbs. of each daily, but I'd recommend you mix 1 pound of each together and enjoy.
>> Anonymous
>>10493
I heard nuts weren't that good for you. Is it just because of the oils there?
>> Anonymous
>>10499

yeah, salted ones are bad for you. but I was thinking more of walnuts (good for lowering cholesterol) and I think almonds have the good kind of cholesterol your body needs and I believe the rest is beneficial oils so yeah.

also, I don't know anything more superb than blueberries that's natural. so even if you skip out on the nuts, don't dodge the berries.

While I know changing my diet will be a bit tricky as I'm a poor university student, and a very picky eater unfortunately :( But I think I'm going to take up running anyways, at least try to offset a bit of my unhealthy lifestyle, so I ask you this:

What kept you motivated? What kept you waking up early to run, etc.

thanks for the tips, /fit/. I've been cycling about 20-30 minutes a night and am cutting down on my absolutely shitty eating habits. I'm going to Europe in the Summer and want to lose some weight before then so I won't sweat like the fat-titty'd /b/tard I am. If I keep this up all the way til may, will I see some sexy results? Weight = 230
