hey /fit/,

I got a legitimate question for you guys, hopefully you can help me reach my goal.

I've always been fairly muscular, and muscle isn't something I've been looking for. Granted, I have recently put on excess weight I am looking to lose, and I know muscle is great for losing the excess fat. But what I'm wondering, is if there is any way to safely lose excess muscle? Once I have reached my fat loss goals.

If muscle loss isn't recommended, it's not all that big a deal, I suppose.

Pic related. It's what I will someday achieve, if muscle loss isn't a big deal.

Ah, the Bill goal. You won't have any muscles, look like a faggot, but turn on thousands of heterosexual males on 4chan.

good choice, son.

stop lifting, eat less protein?

Sometimes it's just genetic though

Start sucking dick in place of manly exercises.

OP here. I figured the picture of Bill would get people to read the thread, thinking I was trolling. I couldn't find a good picture of a body type similar to my own, and I left my digicam in my mom's car.

But yes, it is a legitimate question.

Everyone tells me that I should build muscle if I want to lose weight faster. But I won't get the body type I'm ultimately looking for. I could stick to cardio, as what I was thinking of doing, but everyone I talk to tells me to build muscle. I don't need to.

advise me /fit/

Bill was on Conan a few weeks ago, dunno if it was and old ep though.

OP here, and I'll do it if it gets me the body I want to have...

Oh, you'd suck dick for a body like Bill.

lol some of use are straight, i'd prefer to be able to resist gravity with ease

Just become a vegan and do tons of cardio.
>> Anonymous
>>157699
so the vegan is to cut out the majority of protein, to lose muscle mass, and the cardio is to kill the excess fat, yes?

Would I be able to kill the fat first, using the muscle while I have it, and then commence the muscle cannibalization? Or does that head into dangerous territory?

What's the point of this again?

to get as unhealthy skinny as I can, with healthier means than purging.

I meant why? Is it like a bet or a gay thing or something? I don't understand.

Honestly, I can't think of any reason why I shouldn't try. I mean, i've always been one to live my life through my experiences, just to say that I have done them, or that I was able to.

I went from 255 to 175, just to say that I could. I took 2 girls to the prom, just to have the story to tell. I quit my job to take a 3 month vacation when my friend died, to make up for the time he lost out on.

I just want to do things, to see if I could. And now, I want to do this, because no one believes I have the will power to do it. If I can drop 75+ pounds, I'm sure I could get down to Bill's build. And if I don't have the bone structure, I'll get myself down to where it looks good.

I was hoping that /fit/ would be able to help me. If not, it was at least worth a shot.

Basically, your metabolism becomes more efficient the more muscle you have. It actually gets slower.

If you want to look like a rail thin scene kid, just do what that guy above suggested. Go almost strictly vegan, don't eat more than like 30 grams of protein per day, and run everywhere. Mix up your cardio by doing things like long period running, HIIT, play random sports with your friends, etc. Try to do a different type of cardio as often as possible and eat 6-7 small meals per day consisting mostly of fruits/veg and soy shit like Boca products.

Uh no, more muscle = higher metabolism.
>> Anonymous
>>157790

Nope. More muscle = body is better trained. Better trained body = uses calories very efficiently. Uses clories very efficiently = slower metabolism.

You begin conserving food energy more the better shape you get into. Basic physiology, you uneducated shits.

>>157782
what, starve yourself and you get thin? you're a real really breaking news to the masses there pal.
>> Anonymous
>>157759

Okay, so I get rid of the excess fat through my current muscle mass/metabolism, and then I get rid of the muscle itself.

Anyone want some extra muscle mass? I need to get rid of mine, quick.

>>157795

Basic physiology? Care to explain why the Journal of Applied Physiology disagrees with you?
>> Anonymous
>>157795
while it is true that a more toned body uses energy more efficiently, it is a mistake to believe that a person with more muscle spends less calories.

I think it was like, 8 calories burned per pound of muscle weight, compared to like, 2 calories burned per pound of fat per day, or something like that.

Basically, a 200 pound fat shit is gonna burn less calories than 200 pounds of muscular man.

And that's just in a sedentary position.

you wouldn't know physiology if it bit you on the ass.

you're confusing VO max, hb rate and metabolism. it's stupid and wrong.

according to you, lance armstrong would need almost no food in order to complete he tour de france because he's so efficient.

"Writing in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Robert Wolfe, Ph.D., Chief of Metabolism and Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Texas Medical Branch, points out that, "every 10-kilogram difference in lean mass translates to an increase in energy expenditure of 100 calories per day, assuming a constant rate of protein turnover.""

now shut up and never post here again.

If this is a sincere post I think it's the most idiotic person ever to post on 4chan. And that's saying something.

Fat is stored energy. Metabolism burns energy. Therefore, being obese = inefficient metabolism. Inversely, low fat = efficient metabolism.

You can look at this from another angle. Converting energy to fat = efficient survival mechanism. Non-energy storage = early winter death.

Gaining fat meant your paleolithic ancestors were the baddest motherfuckers around. They survived due to their ability gain fat deposits, the rest died out in periods of starvation. In modern times, over-abundance of food means the perpetual gaining of fat. Winter starvation never comes, so the overweight will remain overweight.

Caloric restriction = longer lifespan.
Google Motherfuckers do you use it?

Hence why muscly guys die relatively young.

I've heard about those studies. But who wants to live to be 100? 150? People start becoming decrepit around 70, I sure as hell don't want to live another 30 years as a fucking old guy that can't do anything. I'm going to enjoy life now, not parse it out in little chunks so I can live several shittier decades longer.
