Soup /fit/How does swimming a few laps compare to lifting weights and doing weight machines? I'm guessing the latter is more effective?
Depends what you're working towards. Each have their advantages and disadvantages.
Swimming is more of a cardio exercise and uses pretty much all of your muscles. You'll get toned, but not bigger.
Swimming will give you long lean muscles. Weight machines will give you thicker muscles. Swimming is probably better for your body overall, it gives a good workout and doesn't put much strain on joints.
