Does anyone have a rough idea of how long it takes an average (~5'10", 140-160lb) person (male if sex would make much of a difference), aged around 20 to digest, say 40g of protein? Obviously food and whey protein or whatever is somewhat expensive, and it would be nice to know roughly how long it takes to fully digest this amount of protein, so as not to be wasting a shit load.

Sorry if i haven't been specific enough, or even been too vague. I appreciate that every individual is different, and expect the time it takes to digest protein to vary. I'm not looking for 100% accuracy, just a general idea...

Thanks in advance

proteins alone? 1 hour tops
proteins and fats? as long as 2-3 hours, depending on quantity

I always leave 1 1/2 hours between protein intake and exercise.

40g of protein?

Well, depends on the type of protein.

Whey & casein digest faster than, say, chicken, which is faster than meat with fat on it (salmon).

I'd say 4-6 hours for the latter, 2-3 for the former.

casein is slowest digesting protein
