What has worked for me in the past and also in the present, are a few different factors.
1. Cutting out soda. Took about a week, but lost the addictive nature to soda. 2. Drinking water all the fucking time. I had no idea I was that badly dehydrated, and the fact that most of the real hunger pangs I got were because I was thirsty. I cannot tell you how many times this has helped me to not to eat something just out of habit. 3. Using the anti-obesity thoughts all the time: I'm a fat fucker, and I will never be thin unless I eat nothing, etc. This sort of helps, except when I'm super hungry. 4. Not fully cutting out junk food. If I did, I'm sure I would relapse back into bad food eating binge. For now, I'm down to just chips, and when I do go to a fast food place(trying to avoid) I order a few of the 1 dollar hamburgers, much better than a combo meal for price and the way it fills you up. 5. Water. Again, I cannot stress how much this has helped me, as well as to avoid soda for the first couple of weeks, and whenever I go to the fast food joint. 6. Motivation. I've saved a few threads from /f/it that help motivate me through tough days(I'm a not a pussy or made out of solid rock, so I do have normal bad days like most guys do). 7. Getting used to the feeling of not being full all the time. This one was kind of tough, I was not used to feeling half empty after a meal. After a while, you just accept it and learn to like it. In fact, now a days, I don't like the feeling of being full. 8. Gym is important. It's critical to focus on muscles throughout this time.Once you get a good enough workout, you can start running or flying again.
Anyways, good luck bro.
