Hi /fit/,I recently started running, in preparation for joining the navy, I started off doing 2~3 miles with a few patches of walking, and have since moved on to doing 3~4 miles straight. I'm usually running 4 or 5 days a week, never more, and never more than 2 days in a row, but recently I started getting pretty severe pains in the inside of my calf. I'd like to think it wasn't down to footwear, as I invested in a well fitting and decent quality pair of running shoes which were right for my foot type as far as I could tell. It's really getting to me, I need to be running to train but this is stopping me. I've taken 5 days of and it has started to get better, but it still hurts after a long walk or if I do any running on it.I'm pretty sure its not a simple sprain, I can stretch my calf muscles normally without pain, and stand on tiptoes without it doing much but after running on it I was limping around the house and I had to cut a run short because of it. I can feel the pain when I tilt my foot slightly inwards, which makes me think that it might be due to pronation. Having looked at anatomical diagrams I'm pretty sure the pain is in my Gastrocnemis, its a kind of aching pain.Any help is really appreciated, as this is effecting me being able to do what I want to do for a life...
