what are some good tasting healthy meals you guys eat to keep/get healthy? im finding that i like most healthy meals, but some flat out just take too long to prepare. anyone got any ideas on what tastes good that is quick, and preferably cheap to prepare (im in college and find i dont have a lot of time to spend 30 min using pots and pans and shit).

OP here. im thinking along the lines of instant oatmeal, which isnt too bad for you and high in fiber, or just fruits or something (even though that is more a snack than a meal). any other quick/healthy ideas?

LENTILS AND COTTAGE CHEESE

Heat up a pan over med high heat, pour in just a little bit of olive oil. Take a chicken breast, sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning, salt and pepper, place chicken breast in pan 6-8 mins per side or until cooked.

Boil a pot of water, salt water, add desired amount of frozen veggies, broccoli, green beans, ect. I also do carrots but they take 6 or so minutes longer than the frozen veggies.

Do both at the same time, and you have a quick healthy meal.

That's about to be my lunch. Enjoy.

not that quick when you factor in the time it takes to boil the water, heat up the pans, and clean the dishes. its a 30 minute process minimum. i dont have that kind of time 7 days a week 3 meals a day. i have that time sometimes, and when i do i cook, but i need ideas for the other meals any other ideas?

fucking peel the shell and eat it. And then grab a fruit or some bread if you want carbs. god damn.

>30 min

Considering you have 48 half-hour sessions in a single day this is pathetic time management even for a student. Maybe if you spent less time stressing yourself out and more time actually doing things you would be able to partake in these excellent foods.

Boil some rice, takes ten minutes.
Fry an egg, also takes about that.
Cut a bunch of vegetables meanwhile: Tomatoes, peas, onions, corn, scissored iceberg salad, go crazy with experimenting.
When the egg's done, use scissors to cut it into small pieces.
MIX IT ALL IN AN INFERNO OF EXCELLENCE
Proceed to eat it. Maybe put olive oil on top.

I just did it a few minutes after I finished typing it, and have been done easy 5 minutes plus the time I'm taking to type this and eat at the same time. Boiling water doesn't take that long, just use enough for the amount of food you're boiling.

Also, 95% of people don't have that kind of time to cook 3 meals a day, thats why you plan the fuck ahead. Take a weekend/day off, cook a bulk pack of chicken breasts, refrigerate. Mix up a side dish, refrigerate it too. Microwave when you're hungry.

Pictured yeah, but it's not the same process as what he mentioned. Buy a wok if you want to do fried rice though, it's easy and tasty.

And yes, the truth has been spoken. Even when i was at College, ironically i was training as a chef i came home and made time to cook my dinner from scratch.

It doesnt take hours, just buy the stuff and spend 30-60 minutes cooking a decent meal, and as suggested make batches and freeze it.

I started making a bunch of sandwiches at once to save time, since most of the time in making a sandwich is in getting the ingredients ready.

I'd take a whole loaf of bread, some cheapish lunch meat, and a block of cheese, divide the bread up in half, cut 1 slice of cheese per slice of bread, and put all the ingredients on them in sort of an assembly line, put them together and put them back in the bag the bread came in.

Then when I'm ready to eat it, I'll put it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds to melt the cheese, and put whatever condiments (usually mustard or hot sauce, since they're good for your metabolism/digestion).

And I also learned that you can indent bread, crack an egg in there, put it in the microwave for a minute and a half on high, and holy shit the egg is cooked. Careful of the yolk though, it might still leak depending on the strength of your microwave.

Also, bagels.

Word to the wise on that - don't prepare too much, because having 4 lbs of food go bad is no picnic.

Basically from healthy pre-packaged meals you are looking for lean meats i.e. chicken, turkey and lots of vegetables, usually in a slight sauce.

You want to be eating foods high in protein, low in carbs and fat, sugar etc..

It sounds totally bland, and i agree it is sometimes when you end up eating chicken & veg most nights. Learn to love your vegetables though, biggest tip i can possibly give.

I said in many other threads, dont completely cut your carbs, but dont overdo it on them, its not needed and ends up stored as fat if unused the same way sugar does when you dont burn it off.

A statement that keeps me motivated and sums up my new lifestyle:

"I eat what i need to, not what i want to".

I'm not perfect, i do eat the occassional thing i'm not supposed to, but follow the above statement and remind yourself of it when you see that slice of pizza or cake.
