Omega-3, Multi-vitamins

When should you take them?
Empty stomach or with food?

Is Omega 3 good for bodybuilding?

Discuss
>> Anonymous
Like all supplements you should get them from food not from pills which won't be assimilated anyway.
OMEGA 3 = fish

OMEGA 3 has nothing to do with bodybuilding. It's just good for your heart.

stfu.

Positive effects of Omega 3’s:

Increased metabolic rate

Increased insulin sensitivity by delaying stomach emptying time(thus carbs are digested slower making less of a insulin spike)

Natural blood thinner, resulting in decreased risk of vascular disease, clotting, and strokes

Improved stamina and endurance

Aid in fat loss by suppressing appetite

Decreased blood pressure due to it’s blood thinning properties

Are converted into prostaglandins (natural anti-inflammatory chemicals produced in the body) that help decrease inflammation and pain, reduced muscle soreness after workouts and shorter recovery time

Increased brain function, better mood, the brain is 60 percent fat and needs omega-3’s to function correctly.

Helps make soft velvety skin

Healthy source of energy without increasing bodyfat

Increased production of hormones including the most important for bodybuilders, testosterone.

Fish oil is good for weightlifters, especially when considering the reduced inflammation and joint care it supplies.

fish oil = snake oil

Just don't take more than 3 grams of it in a day. People think the more the better, but too much of a good thing is often not so good.

Oh, and take on a full stomach. Those things give some nasty nausea on an empty stomach.

so you are going to base your health advice off some stupid saying that doesn't even mean anything?

3g is too little if you are talking about overall omega 3 content

you much look at the DHA and EPA content. full benefits of fish oil start at around 3000mg of each. if your 1g omega 3 cap only has say a 400mg/200mg split, well then you are gonna need like 10g a day.

Wow, you don't know what you're talking about.

Go look at the recent scientific studies on Omega-3s. Or, to make it even easier for you, go read this letter from the FDA concerning Omega-3. Why don't you check out the conclusion in section B.

never take any pills on an ampty stomach if you can avoid it, it's really bad for you.

Omega 3 is nothing but win no matter who you are, the best way to get it is from fresh fish. If you want to bodybuild eat lots of fresh tuna

me again

Unless your doctor tells you to take them on an empty stomach, i remembered i had some antibiotics which required me to take them 2 hours before eating. Those were tough mornings indeed!

An eight year old study from the FDA, an absolute joke of an organization?

Really?

There are more recent studies, too. Why don't you look them up yourselves? I don't know why you are so offended at the fact that too much Omega 3 is a bad thing. Calm down.

no, shut up. fish oil is good. more fish oil is better. 3g is barely noticeable.

if you are eating the 120/180s and lifting heavy weights you wont really notice till you are downing about 15 of those fuckers a day. how can too much fish oil be bad for you? besides the extra calories?

Hardening of arteries, headaches, severely reduced blood pressure in vegetarians, etc (all those little ones that are that are associated with anything diarrhea, constipation, nausea, etc).

Come on guys. You act like this hasn't been common knowledge for a while now.

omega 3's do the EXACT OPPOSITE of hardening arteries

only very few people get headaches from fish oil, regardless of the dosage

vegetarians are faggots, and low blood pressure is a classic symptom of vegetarianism

They can harden them, too.

Are you one of those people who believe that there is no such thing as too much protein as well?

Oh well, no skin off my back if you don't believe me or the studies. It's your body.
