Root Canal Prevention? Anonymous
I went to my Dentist today, and he said there was the possibility of having two root canals. He told me that if it didn't bother me, I'd have nothing to worry about it. But, I'm wondering..is there a way to make sure it doesn't happen? I'd rather not have a root canal. :x

With modern techniques root canals don't hurt or anything.

I had one done last year, and it was rather simple (though wierd to watch happen). They just drill down to the core on the tooth of interest (after well numbing the site) stuff some rubber filler in, melt it, burst it down into the abscess with some forceful pressure, and then cap like a regular filling. Nothing to it.

So brush and use restoring fluoride containing mouthwash and you can hold things as they are, but if you've got an abscess, just man up and take the canal.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the information. I've been reading around on the net, it says that you should only eat certain types of foods to prevent your cavity from getting any worse. Is this true? Or am I able to eat normal foods(of course I avoid sugars)
