I've been trying to do about 50 crunches and squats a day in addition to some other regular leg exercises. How long does it seem like it should take for me to see something happening on my belly?

Months or years, if ever. Won't get you far.

If you're not fat, you should get a bit toned but it won't help you out a whole lot. If you're fat, nothing will happen from just doing that.

According to Ellis ( http://www.fastmusclegain.com/ ) and most sources, you cannot hope to achieve targeted fat loss by doing more exercises at that region.

You have to eat less calories than you expend, then your body will use up the fat stores.

Abs will become visible when you get to about 8% body fat.

Usher does 1000 sit ups a day (that's 50 crunch sets, 20 times a day) along with various other exercises

Try at least 200 a day. Results within 3 months provided you aren't completely pot-belied

Spot reduction is a myth.

You have to lower your body fat percentage for ANY muscle to be (more) visible. It's just that your torso is where most people store their fat.

If you're already at a low BF%, then it could take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks to see anything I guess. 50 crunches aren't really a lot for your abs. Try switching off between planks, weighted sit-ups (machine), sit-ups on a bench with a medicine ball, and jackknives. Don't forget to work your obliques too, or it'll look funny.

Or you could start using Primobolan. Not the fastest there is but one of the safest and I have a feeling you'd be very pleased with the results, regardless of whether you're fat or slim.
