Whats my ideal weight? Anonymous
Dear /fit/, I have a question that needs answering.
I'm a 6 foot 5 inches tall 19 year old male and I weigh about 290 give or take a few pounds.

I know I'm fat, but I never though of myself as those fatasses that can't even get out of bed. My doctor pretty much treated me that way and said that according to the BMI shit, my deal weight would be 180 and that im morbidly obese.

I can't picture myself weighing 180 and being 6ft 5in tall and looking healthy. Seems to me that my doctor is a fucking idiot. I know I don't have the body of an olympic athlete, but I don't think I'm that fat. I don't think I should have to shed 100+ pounds in order to be healthy. Is my doctor right? Should I lose 100+ pounds? What should my ideal weight be really?

Pic is not me.

Maybe not quite that much, but you could definitely do with loosing some weight.

BMI is garbage (sometimes). My BMI is 23.5 which means I'm heading towards "Overweight", but I have 6% bodyfat.

>>302491my deal weight would be 180 and that im morbidly obese.

I think you'd be a kind of skinny dude. I'm 5'5" and a little over 140 lbs. I'm muscular, but I'm not HUEG by any means.

for that height depends on your build Ideally 210 i'd think.

I was 286 lbs before working out last March.

I'm 230 lbs now. I'm 6' 6".

The BMI shit says I should be 215 lbs to be healthy. Bullshit.

Just cut a 10-15% of your weight for starters. I did it by upping the Fiber in my diet, dodging the Sat. Fats, drinking ass loads of water, multi-vitamins, lifting weights, and running 5 miles a day. Yeah.

Duh, a calculation that doesnt take into account muscle or fat% is complete shit. Your ideal weight is not being a fatass

You really should take your doctors advice.
Sure, you may not consider yourself "fat" like all of those other "fatasses" but you can use some weight loss. Currently, you're living an unhealthy life style and your doctor is just trying to help.

180 doesn't sound to bad considering your height.
You don't have to aim that low, take it 1 step at a time.
I'm pretty sure once you control yourself and get down to that size you'll thank your doctor.

bmi = if ur too fat, cut off an arm and a leg and ur bmi will show u to be healthy

I have an easy way that you can use to figure it out. Can you run a mile in under ten minutes? If you can then you're doing ok.

LOL, yeah. I am 5'8" and weigh 185 lbs so according to a BMI I am a fatass but I am under 10% bodyfat. A buddy of mine in the marines was about 220lbs and the same height but was insanely muscular and had to drop muscle weight because of stupid charts.

No, but i think we both know you do infact troll because you are sad and alone. Enjoy your crushing loneliness.

Yes, BMI can be inaccurate in some cases. But you're obviously a fatass.

Stop making excuses to not change your life.

>Just cut a 10-15% of your weight for starters. I did it by upping the Fiber in my diet, dodging the Sat. Fats, drinking ass loads of water, multi-vitamins, lifting weights, and running 5 miles a day.

I did the exact same and lost weight.

It's not that hard, just stop sitting around and not caring.

180 sounds very low for your height
you'd be a fucking pussy with no muscle
at your height you could be a real beast
aim for >250 pounds at <15% body fat

5'11", 174 pounds. BMI say's i'm close to overweight but i'm at 9% bodyfat.

Just lose some of that fat. 180 does seem a little low. Set yourself some targets. 195 to be your final goal but have smaller targets for each month. Give yourself little rewards when you reach these goals to keep you motivated.

I am 5 10 and spent about 10 years at 220 pounds, was well muscled and doctors didnt give me shit (My family did however) I felt thats how a man should look and considered anyone at a lower weight a skinny pussy. My gf also liked my bulk(not fat) and didnt want me to lose any weight.

Late last year i got interested in CRON Calorie Restriction Optimum Nutrition and as a result of some dieting (Nothing as drastic as CRON book recommends)

Since then i have gone down to 180 pounds - a weight i thought was super pussy, however i am just as strong, running is easier, my gf comments that she likes it despite previously enjoying me being bigger. And i like what i see in the mirror.

So as you drop lower your attitude will definitely change.

BMI is a rough estimate that would only work if every person had the same ammount of muscle but ubless you can make out some muscles on your body distinctly you probably should lose some weight.
