Emergency
I was eating a pack of potatoc chips (walkers/lays) and I feel as if a shard of food has gone down the "wrong" hole - into the windpipe?

I tried to hack it back up but was met with a horrible shooting pain down my whole right side, that still hasn't worn off.

It still feels... there. Can that even happen? what'd happen to the food?

Fuuuck help /fit/ it's 4am on a Sunday morning.

It's highly unlikely that a piece of potato chip ACTUALLY went into your windpipe.

Go to the hospital ASAP. This is no joke, you've just aspirated a sharp piece of food.

Can you swallow liquids? Can you breathe normally? If so, chances are you're just fucking paranoid.

Sorry, but I don't think I stress this enough in my last post. PLEASE, YOU NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT AWAY. My sister did this, she spent nearly 6 months in the hospital.

Thanks man. I actually smoked some pot tonight and maybe it is just paranoia.

If it's a chip, it'll probably dissolve on its own. If it were something hard, like a bone, then yes, I would recommend you go to the emergency room.

can you give any more info??

She caught pneumonia after inhaling some peanuts. It sounds stupid, but what happens is the food tears apart the linings of your lungs and will possibly get infected. Like a week after she inhaled it, she got deathly sick, and we had to take her to the hospital. She spent most of the time on a respirator, because she was that close to death.

Thanks man, I am gonna get to a doctor at the first opportunity just to be sure either way.

This sounds silly, but sleep on it and see if the "there" feeling's gone the next morning. If not, I'd go to the doctor.

Won't the food just dissolve? If it's sharp it may damage your "lining" but that'll heal. If you haven't been hacking up blood for the last few hours I wouldn't worry.

You can't inhale an chip.
It is unpossible.

People choke when it blocks the path, but it doesn't actually go down into an lung.

Also, it's going to hurt the first time sweetie.
