hey /fit/

anyone here taking anti-depressants? Just started today on lexapro and I'm not sure what to expect. I think I fucked up my head taking pills and I'm trying to get back to normal, but I don't even know what normal should feel like anymore. I don't expect to walk around smiling every day, I just want to know how it'll make me feel if it works.

get more exercise and eat healthier, it helps the beneficial effects of ads and helps you reduce your dependency on them quicker.

Because food and exercise totally don't cause chemical reactions which anti-depressant drugs are modeled off of.

Lexapro will kill your sexual drive. I used to have sex between 2 to 4 times a day.... how I miss those days... now sex is like once ever day or two and my BF is kind of dissapointed.

Overall I've been feeling happier and more social but I have been really hesitant to go anywhere and I feel kind of uptight (probably because there is alot of sexual tension that I can't release)..

Anywhoo enjoy not feeling anything when you touch yourself

i took it for 2 years. at first you might feel nauseous and weird, but it should go away in a week or 2.
it worked well for me, just give it quite some time. you should feel better generally, and life should have more sense to it, and so your activities and so on.

I'm a male who used to take Lexapro... and.. I dunno. I wasn't too happy with it. It killed my sex drive as well- I could hardly maintain an erection. I think the reason is that Lexapro just stabilizes your moods so much its hard to get excited for it... Damn. What an unhappy time. I'm sooo glad I'm off of that stuff.

Good luck OP.

OP get off the meds and do SQUATZ, go running, do something.

I have taken several anti-depressants. Gained forty pounds in about six months... That was a few years ago, and I am finally starting to work it off. Good luck.

OP, seriously, man the fuck up and stay off the meds. I suffered from SEVERE anxiety (to the point where i couldn't even drive over a bridge for fear that it would collapse) and depression and all my doctors told me to take meds. I opted to go cold turkey and lift weights. A year, later my depression is completely gone and my anxiety is well under control. If you take meds, you'll likely become dependent on them for the rest of your life.
