So /fit/ I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, but chose not to medicate myself. I realize that the symptoms of ADHD are just amplified versions of that which is normal, so many people consider it to be a bullshit disorder, but this isn't a question about ethics.

What can you tell me about medication for ADHD? Is it worth it? Will it make me a robot?

Get the meds, but only use them when you're doing something that requires heavy concentration. Studying for a test? Pop those fucking pills. The disorder is bullshit, but the pills work. Being diagnosed with something fake is just a ticket to free meds. Use it when it's convenient and don't get addicted to that shit, it will turn you into a robot.

You have to much energy. Go out and exhaust yourself physcially everyday.

I have ADD, and yes it's an actual disorder. I cannot concentrate, and my dad was diagnosed with it ages ago, before labeling kids with ADD or ADHD was even cool.

Yes, the meds help. Immensely. I take 36mg of Concerta, and it doesn't make you a robot. Nor does Wellbutrin, but I don't take that anymore. I've always been the same version of me. Hell my friends didn't even know I had ADD. It's just if I take them, I can concentrate better. The TV or soundtrack in my mind is turned off. But I'm still the same person I've always been.

Go for it.

I've never heard of either concerta or wellbutrin; everyone I know with ADD takes adderall. Are these stimulants as well?

I'm not the first person who posted about Concerta, but I had better effects from Adderall. Concerta didn't really do much for me, but then again, I've also heard complaints that it makes people feel like robots... So I guess it's just about how you react to different medications.

I have ADD and I find that exercising helps A LOT. On days when I don't do my workout it feels like my brain is ten minutes ahead and I can't think. I can't afford medication for it, but I don't really need it, since I have a fairly easy job. I do forget to pay my bills though. All the time. This just reminded me I need to pay my bills.

Parents, if your kid is full of energy and won't sit down and watch tv because you are too fucking bored to watch him, then enroll him into a fucking a sport instead of giving him psychotropic drugs. You know what really active kids become? Winners. The quiet kids grow up to end up posting here because they are ambitionless robots.

You obviously know very little about psychological disorders.
Everyone gets angry, but it's a disorder when someone's pissed off 24/7. Everyone double checks to make sure they locked the front door, but it's a disorder when you check it ten times.

An "amplified version" of normal is abnormal, which is the whole basis behind psychological disorders. Now I'm not taking a side in the "are ADD/ADHD real disorders or not", I'm just saying what you wrote is a stupid reason to criticize it.

I take Adderall XR and after several years of debating of whether it is worth taking or not, I've come to the conclusion that it does indeed work positively.

I went about 4 months without it at the end of '07, not only did I gain 20lbs from boredom eating, my GPA went from 3.6 (Sweet, sweet Adderall) to a 3.2. I also went through bouts of depression because of the extra stress from dealing with shitty grades and the difficulty of making myself study.

true story /fit/

tl;dr Take some fucking Adderall, it's amazing.

The only negative thing about Adderall I can think of is that it makes my heartrate spike about 45 minutes after I take it.

Excluding the fact that it's main ingredient is meth, and all of the negatives of going off of it.
