Anyone have some motivating results from doing stronglifts 5x5?

Is it just another overhyped training program or does it deserve the praise it gets?
>> Anonymous
It depends on what your training for.

every HEUG actors you see have done squats
every faggot at the gym wanting to look like said actors do only curlz
stronglift has squats
therefore, by the magical powers, stronglift = good

wow, amazing. did you come up with that all on your own? just because a training program incorporates squats doesnt mean its any good. A LOT of training programs have squats and a lot of them suck dick.

5 x 5 is good for the first month or two of lifting since the strength gains will be made through neural adaption. after that, a more hypertrophy inducing program is usually desirable depending upon ones goals

I'm doing it to get a good base of strength, and was thinking after a few months of doing it I would do the same split but with 4x8, thinking it'll beef me up a bit more without making me look like a body builder.

should switch inverted rows to barbell rows... or did they change that for a reason?

Uhm, 5x5 is good forever.

provided you include a method of progression.
Typically that means increasing the load such that by the fifth set, you're capable of 3 reps. Then work to 5x5. Then increase the load again.

To make 5x5 a "mass" gainer, eat more. To make 5x5 a "strength" gainer, eat maintenance.

As for "stronglifts", I donno, but as long as you're not pansying out and use enough intensity (*and* eat enough), you'll gain.

I'm still sort of wondering why the guy switched out rows and dips, ... I would readd them but that shit is explicitly warned against.

But yah, I am eating my 6 a day and not pussying out when doing my work.

i have a pair of black pants at 32x32 that I love to wear.

After 3 months of stronglifts and also not wearing jeans (fucking hot in Austin, TX), I decided to put them on (yesterday was the first day it got below 65 degrees F). HOLY SHIT, they're tight around my hips. Wanna know why?

mehdi said he changed it because many people can't keep their back in the proper position while rowing bent-over, so he switched to inverted

if you can do bent-over rows with proper back posture (i.e., not rolling your spine), stick with bent-over

i'm still doing bent-over and also dips

although my dip ability is vastly disproportionate to my bench and such

i'm only benching 100lbs+bar right now, while I'm dipping 55

I get the feeling this isn't normal but fuck yeah my triceps are huge

No, 5x5 is good if you're a fucking beginner, it really is not that good of a program.

Also, to gain strength, you're going to want to eat more food. You can only increase your strength by so much and stay at the same size.
