Don't read the article, you'll go blind from trying to read the text on that site.

ok lets say a 260lb man needs 4000cal a day (28000 a week) to maintain his current weight and that is what he eats every day and he burns 500cal a day doing cardio he(3500 a week) means that he would lose 1lb a week some of this from mussel but most from fat so cardio can burn fat if the subject eats the same amount of calories before he started as when he started but as the man starts to lose weight he will need less to keep his current body weight witch means he will have to run longer periods of time to lose that pound a week
i may be wring tho
and just so you know i am a whale and have already lost 27lbs doing no extra cardio but just changed my diet and lift weights 3x a week

Who is that? She looks very familiar.

From said article:

"Food determines your weight
Strength determines your lean mass
Fat is the difference in between.

These principles are fact. They cannot be argued."

No, lean mass determines strength. Lean mass includes all non-fat, which also means bones, organs, brains...etc.

"'Cardio' doesnt raise metabolism for an extended period afterwards either.....The only studies showing a measured raise in metabolic rate were in endurance athletes and sedentary people."

Self-contradiction anyone?

"It would be ridiculous to think that a 30-45 minute walk would require cardiovascular fitness beyond that necessary to complete a 60-90 minute high-volume, high-intensity leg workout."

Gee, no shit. It would also be ridiculous to think that a 60-90 minute high-volume, high intensity leg workout requires more cardiovascular fitness than climbing Mt. Everest. The author's implying that cardio exercise is only ever done in a "calm" way and isn't ever vicious and difficult.

"All of your internal organs exist only to support your muscles and your muscles have only one function: to exert force on your skeleton."

Author is a fucking idiot. QED.

There's nothing that proves intense training burns more calories, either, really. The main reason intensity is advised is because it lets you train your cardio system better and pack more action into the same amount of time as compared to if you were doing it less intense.

Yeah, obviously doing a 45 minute walk isn't as intense as a 60 minute jog, but provided you cover the same distance, the efficiency gap in terms of calories burned between walking and jogging becomes extremely narrow. Walking five miles might take you an hour or 1.5 hours, whereas running it may be accomplished in 30 minutes by someone who is used to it, but the calories burned remain roughly the same. Muscle training would be different, but the same principle applies...if you lift heavy but only do it for 15 minutes, someone who was lifting half the weight but did it for 30 minutes would be burning roughly the same amount of calories through actions...there will be differences in the metabolic after effects, but the DIRECT actions remain very similar in how many calories they burn.

Honestly, the fitness world is so full of myths and backwards information that you have to simply abide by one fact: Performing exercise DOES burn calories. For most of us, we don't really need to be concerned with every tiny trick that meta level athletes use and shit...the average person's goal should just be to do SOMETHING exercise related for at least an hour a day.

Yep. However, since I started changing healthing habit and running I have lost fat on my body and gained muscles on my legs. So fuck this article, fuck the aerobic fallacy and fuck the anti-cardio fascist crowd who just want to push their way to.. to what kind of people? People who already have a muscular and defined body ?
Keep running fatties. When it's time to get muscles, you are going to lift weights like everybody else.

i lost 60lbs in 3 months ( 5'11@258lbs down to 200 ) and i ran only 1 mile a day, but i ran it as fast as i could. i started at about 13 minutes and got it to just under 7. on top of that i lifted 5 days a week doing SQUATZ, deadlifts and bench press every day, plus dips/pull ups etc. on staggered days. my lifts went up and my weight went down quite fast, and my diet wasn't even that restrictive. i'd still end up eating cheese burgers once in a while. other then that it was a healthy 5-6 meals a day + whey protein and a lot of fruit, and at least a gallon of water a day

Honestly, there's nothing with cheeseburgers. Have you ever looked at the nutrition info for a regular McDonald's cheeseburger? It's only like 300 calories. The only problem comes when people are eating like fucking double Quarter Pounders four times a week. Like they always say, not what you eat but how much of it you eat.

Nothing wrong with a controlled cheat at all. And congrats on the progress.

I'm a skinnyfat-fag, but I'd love to copy your expercise plan. The thing is, I'm really fucking intimidated by free-weights, and I have no idea how to learn proper technique outside of getting a personal trainer.... It's just too fucking expensive tho. I was wondering, could I adapt that workout, but instead of free-weights, use gay weight machines instead? Is it possible to learn proper technique solely through the internets? I'm a loner, so no friends/no workout buddys/no spotters for me.

So if cardio doesn’t burn fat, what does? The answer is that it doesn’t even matter how or when the body burns fat. Fat is just the difference between how much you weigh and how much muscle you have. Consider again the equation above:
Food determines your weight
Strength determines your lean mass
Fat is the difference in between"

What the FUCK? "Strong" people can be ripped, or fat as fuck (watch a "strongest man" competition). Weak people can be skin&bones, or completely obese. This article makes no sense.

The thing is, the article IS true in some aspects. You don't need cardio to burn off fat. But without it, only lifting weights and eating less will take unbelievably much more(talking years here for fatties). And it could have been done in months with cardio. So...

Cardio actually burns fairies and unicorns, not fat

Uh, I went from 270 to 185 in about 14 months just by eating a healthy diet. I stopped drinking soda altogether, drank 3+ liters of water a day, cut my calorie intake from 3000+ calories a day(a large bulk of which was from soda) to about 1800-2100 a day, and cut my trans/sat fat and cholesterol consumption to below 50% my of my daily recommended intake.

Then again, I was having major panic attacks on a daily basis at that time, so I guess I got a lot of exercise when I was pacing around for an hour three times a day.
