Hydroxycut or any other diet pill: are they worth the price or does it really just come down to diet and exercise?
>> Anonymous
Using them IN COMBINATION WITH RIGOROUS EXERCISE may speed fat loss. They aren't based on ephedra anymore but are still based on similar principles to an ECA (ephedra, caffeine, aspirin) stack. They speed up your heart rate like made due to the amount of stimulant which causes increased thermogenesis where fat is turned directly into body heat instead of energy.

So yeah, they CAN work, but only as part of an already established intensive exercise routine.

will using them increase your metabolism at all or only temporarily while your body is on a rush?
>> Anonymous
They do increase your metabolism, but generally only while you are using them. Most have instructions to take them at pre-determined intervals throughout the day so that the stimulant doesn't wear off completely.

Keep this in mind. If you aren't already moderately healthy, they can be very dangerous. Some fatass whose resting heart rate is hovering around 90 is going to see a huge jump to like 120-130 bpm. Moreover, the stimulant will make you jittery as hell and prolonged use can start to cause dependence issues.

Most of the usage labels on the packages stress to only use them for short periods of time. Generally between 6-12 weeks. You are going to be ingesting so much more caffeine than you're used to, so expect withdrawl symptoms when you decide to come off of them.

STRESS: If you aren't moderately healthy, don't use them AT ALL. Get healthier first. If you have a history of heart problems DO NOT USE THEM. These things are hard as hell on your heart. Also, you're gonna be more irritable as you'll be essentially high on caffeine. Some of them have 'mood-enhancers' which also give you a euphoric 'chocolate-high.' Naturally, this is more for the mitigation of side-effects more than anything else. If your vision starts to blur, stop using them.

All of this shit is unregulated. Buy a reputable brand. Otherwise, and I'm not even close to kidding, be prepared to get something that some retard mixed for less than minimum wage in his basement. I shit you not.

so if i want to boost my metabolism i should stick to the 6 small meals a day routine, 2 or 3 having a serving of protein, along with cardio 3-4 times a week or is there a better way
>> Anonymous
Like I said, if you're relatively healthy, feel free to give one of these things a shot. I'm currently using Cytolean for a 6 week trial to see if I can get rid of some stubborn belly fat. However, this is in conjunction with my 6 small meals per day (3 of those protein supplements).

Here's what I can see. My arms are getting big. My legs are already huge but they are starting to get leaner, which is nice cause summer is coming up and I normally hate wearing shorts.

However, don't overdo the cardio. Most people are under the impression that more cardio = faster fat loss. Unfortunately, this isn't true. It's all about intensity. If you can, do high-intensity interval training. If you've never done it before, don't expect to last more than 5 minutes even if you're pretty healthy.

Keep in mind that HIIT is relative to the individual. Your goal during cardio should be to raise your heart rate to 70-90% of your calculated maximum heart rate and KEEP IT THERE for the duration of your workout. A 20 minute intense cardio session which leaves you glistening with sweat is more effective than a 2 hour more leisurely one for burning fat.

The trick to not slowing your metabolism though is this: Don't overtrain. Go to the gym six times per week and not seven. On that seventh day, eat ANYTHING YOU GODDAMN PLEASE. Want a big mac combo? Go for it. Want a big mofucking steak, go for it. Don't go to the gym that day.

(And, obviously, keep it in moderation. Don't eat a kilogram of mayo, for instance)

The purpose of this one day off is to give your body the time it needs to recover as well as to fool it into not thinking that it is starving and therefore lowering your metabolism.

If you want a sort of benchmark for your metabolism: keep track of how much you piss and shit. The more you find yourself in the bathroom the faster it's going. If you eat a big salad, expect to have to take a piss a little while afterwards, etc...

Also, make sure to take multivitamins.

Some good advice. Personally I use the ECA stack four times a week, but I'm already in great shape and am just using it to help me with that last bit of fat that's so fucking stubborn it's crazy. My resting pulse is <60, I have a superb heart/blood-lipid profile, and I eat a very strict, very healthy diet. So for me taking the stack seemed like a good idea AFTER I DID THE PROPER RESEARCH ON WHAT I WAS PUTTING IN MY BODY. Also I can personally handle caffeine very well with slim to none negative side effects if I keep it to less than 200mg at a time. I also never take more than 13mg of ephedrine a day, and I make sure to take a break from the stack on fridays, saturdays and sundays.
