I just recently got my diet issues in order. I've cut out all fast/junk food, as well as soda/shitty drinks. Now I'm drinking water exclusively and eating oatmeal, fruit, grilled chicken, veggies, etc. This, in itself, is a major step for me.

My question relates to my exercise. I haven't done serious exercise in several years, so obviously I am in bad shape.

Right now I just can't do much of any running or cycling. Would walking twice a day for around 30 minutes do anything to help my weight loss?

If you're coming from no exercise at all, anything is better than nothing. Consider upping it to jogging once you're ready.

generally when it comes to cardio the idea is to raise your heartrate by a certain percentage for at least 10? minutes. (what that percentage is I have forgotten) If you find walking to increase your heartrate substantially then yes that will help. If not, then it is still "ok" since anything that moves your muscles is burning off stores of energy.

a lot of ppl will say no because they are hardcore /fit/ kids that do nothing but lift weights when they aren't jerking off.

truth is walking twice a day for 30 minutes (as long as you actually stick to that) will make a difference. it also depends on how much you weigh.

but yes, DO walk then eventually start jogging
