I've just started doing a fairly light free weights regime using some dumbbells I bought. Everything is fine except when I try to Overhead Triceps Extensions or French Presses. When I do either of these I get sharp pains round my elbow joint close to the funny bone (particularly with the OTE). I don't have any such problems with Tricep Kickbacks.

My own theory is that some of the supporting muscles used by the painful exercises aren't strong enough, leading to the weights instead putting pressure on my joints. Solution = use lower weight until these muscles strengthen.

Has anyone else had this problem or got any suggestions?

btw. doing more squatz hasn't solved the problem yet.

Fair point. I think I'm getting carried away with the idea of weights being the alpha and omega of muscle training whn basics would probably help as much or more. Cheers
