so, I need to lose weight. I'm 6'1" or so, and weight fluctuates around 240 lbs. I swear to god if I hit 250 I will an hero so I need to give myself a little more distance to that number.

plan is 1500-1800 calories a day and 20-30 minutes of running/jogging each evening. less than 100g of carbs a day, and less than 40g of fat.

breakfast prolly muselix (sp) or some kind of granola cereal, probably 500 calories alone in that :/

lunch, maybe a bagel sandwich or something similar, another 500 calories.

and grilled chicken/fish with steamed veggies for dinner.

does this look ok or am I planning this all wrong?

Don't eat less, don't eat more. Eat better and more often.
Exercise.

Adult men should never eat less than 2000 calories. To be safe I would suggest around 2400-2600, and exercise atleast four days a week.

Don't plan your day and don't count calories or anything else.

Eat when hungry, but eat many small meals throughout the day.

Don't eat things that aren't good for you. You can buy plenty of treats that are actually alright for you if you just go to a better store than a convenience store.

Exercise every day.

You'll lose weight. Building muscle will increase your metabolism as well.

Just maintain the following proportions when planning out what you eat:

60% carbohydrates
20% protein
20% fat

If you want to build muscle, take from the fat percentage and move to the protein percentage. It's not how much you eat, it's how well you eat.
