When fur traders were in the wilderness, hunting rabbits. they would often starve. despite the constant supply of rabbit meat.
Why?
because they didn't eat vegetables or anything else. the body uses vitamins to metabolize and digest proteins, when you aren't replacing them, you die. you get those vitamins from vegetables, fruits, plants, roots, etc.
but one would say ah but the Inuit eat just meat all the time, why aren't they dead?
well it's because they eat the entire animal, as well as raw. raw livers of animals, especially belugas contain vitamin c. this is just one example. but they get all their vitamins through consuming raw organs of animals. they also have the genetics to do this. i wouldn't suggest trying it.
