Why are DDR players always fat?
I thought it had some "workout" mode.

My room mate and I got into DDR after we started running and it's a fine substitute for rainy days. We have to go for longer than we would run, but it's better than no exercise. I could see how a fattie could start playing, start losing weight, and then get into a real routine though so I'm all for it.

When i used to play, my weight didn't really go down, but I had better stamina. It helped me stay active for longer periods of time.

How long would you need to play DDR to get the same effect as 30 minutes running outside?
>> Anonymous
if you're playing on the first difficulty, never... that shit sucks

on basic/light, probably 1.5 hours

on difficult/normal, about 45-60 minutes depending on songs

expert or oni, 30 minutes

in general, that translates to 5-6 plays if you get all three songs on each play

sorry let me correct that... that's 5-6 plays per thirty minutes

Because DDR is for lazy people who would rather stay indoors than go outside, therefore their habits never change and they live their lives wallowing in misery and cum.

It's better than nothing.

DDR players cannot be labeled as lazy unless they play with a Dual Shock controller.

I shall label them lazy as long as they consider it their main workout.

It is fantastic cardio, decent way to stay motivated because it's fun, passes in my book.

High difficulty double mode is good exercise, but the key to success on single mode is moving as little as possible.

I played DDR and dropped a lot of body fat. I had no way to measure, but I'm guessing I went down to between 5-10% (5'8" at 132 to start, ending at 112 lbs. female.) But I was also eating relatively healthy. The fat kids would play a few songs in the arcade then immediately walk to food court and get a giant bucket of pan-asian fried foods with XLarge sodas.

The people who claim they do DDR for a workout are full of shit. Most people who play do so for enjoyment, and it's pretty addictive once you start AAing 7+ footers

that's the method of shit-ass bar-rapists and bracket-rapists... real men play moving their feet just as much as they moved them on the lower difficulties (and doublestepping if they miss one)

This. The trick is to go crazy, flail your arms all over the place, and don't bar rape.

The home console versions have a workout mode, but for some strange reason nearly all of them (except the PS1 ones) simplify the songs, which kind of defeats the purpose imho.

I know someone who lost 60 pounds playing this, although he was also lifting weights, so...

I am also working out with weights and I am not fat.
I just want to do some alternative cardio when I don't want to go out (too cold sometimes).
