Bent Press
This exercise, developed largely by Eugene Sandow (the guy the Mr. Olympia trophy is modeled after), develops tremendous core strength and really packs on the mass. It might be easier described as a standing one-arm military press with a bend to the side. The bent press can be done with either a barbell, a dumbbell, a kettlebell, or even a non-conforming object.
The lift is performed by pushing a weight above you while moving sideways under it. With a stable base of support, feet roughly shoulder-width apart, push the weight above your head. Assuming youre right handed, your left leg will be slightly bent, right leg straight with toe pointed in marginally and right hip/buttocks pushed out. As you perform the lift, youll bend to your left and a perfect vertical line will occur from the right hand through the hip and to the foot.
Drop under the weight as you push it up slowly and perform the movement with total control. Take some time to learn the lift with light to moderate weight and youll be rewarded with extraordinary development of the back, arms and legs.
