How the fuck do guys get a close shave without any razor burn? The best shave I can get is after showering, using tons of shaving cream, then shaving with the hairs, but that doesn't make me very smooth at all and I still get nicks and pimples around my adam's apple from ingrown hairs and such.

BTW, OP here, electric razors suck ass and I can't use them. They don't do shit.

I had that problem and tried everything. I got an electric razor and shaved "against the grain" and it works perfectly. Using an electric razor and shaving the normal way never gets close enough, especially around the neck. The way I do It gets close enough and no razor burn.

Are you using after shave/lotion once you're done shaving?

True for me too.

I shave my head every day: I go with the grain with a blade, then against the grain with an electric. Incredibly smooth shave, no bumps, and it stays smooth for about 14 hours. (But yes, it does take longer.)

Get a close shave? Don't use those stupid shaving cream thinghies, just use normal soap (or stea your sister's foam cleanser) and lather that bitch up well.

A good shave really depends on the lather.

See this? This. Is. A. Shaving. Brush. Like most items, I suppose if you got some exotic marble-based one you'd get it for $100 or so, but the cheap serviceable ones start from as low as $5.

You dip the shaving brush in the water, then rub it up against the bar of soap to lather that bitch up. Or you could even invest in a small bowl and shave flakes of soap into it.

Also, if you haven't noticed, there is an equivalent thing for your body when you go into the shower with a bar of soap : it's called a 'loofah'. It looks like a ball of scrunched up material. Your mother or your sister probably uses it.
