Hey /fit/.

The concepts behind weight control are well known, but a reason I, and probably a lot of us, can't get into exercising to the point where I can enjoy it.

ITT: Things you do to make working out enjoyable

I'm going to post this fast so others don't.

I watch a movie while I'm riding my exercise bike. It motivates me to ride around 90 minutes (or whatever the length of the movie is) every day.

Find someone else at your athletic ability or a little better. You can support each other, and talking helps make a work-out seem shorter.

Also, music.

One of my best friends starting going to the gym with me, so we keep trying to outdo each other, so that makes it REALLY fun.
Also, as long as I have a good collection of music, I'm never bored.

find the right mirror and results will be the only motivation you will ever need. Once you start to see fat melt away and abs emerge you will be addicted to exercise.

Work out with a friend or group.
Set reasonable goals and reach them.

The big four have already been covered IMO: TV/movie, music, results, buddies, from least to most effective.

What used to keep me going when I first started was that I'd promise myself a day of indulgence if I could go a month of discipline.

I agree with this completely. I used to play sports all of the time and absolutely loved (also one answer to OP question, sports), and afterwards I knew I had to keep exercising. Getting up and exercising every day was definitely not fun, however after a while the feeling just gets addictive. The other day I went for an actual run outside for the first time in a while because of the cold, and the next day I absolutely had to go again even though it was freeze to death cold. Stupid idea, but it felt so right.

tl;dr Play sports or something or exercise so much/routinely that you feel weird when you don't do it.
