I remember even being a little fat teenager that if we fucked up in gym we had to do 20 pushups in front of half the school during lunch in the quad. I had never done a pushup in my life, and I didn't even fuck up, it was a whole class punishment. I struggled, but I got through them. Later on when I was skinny I would start with 2x15 pushups, then add one pushup a day for two months so I got up to 75. Took a break for a year, tried to do 50, couldn't do 30, said fuck it, did a bunch of benching for 6 months, came back to the pushups and found I could do 100.
