Shower after workout Anonymous
Is it safe to shower after cardio and stuff?

I've been lurking /ck/ but don't recall, and googling yields conflicting results.

You can die. Going into cardiac arrest.

And even if you don't you might still get back all the fat burned during cardio.

Your body is generally dehydrated after doing cardio.
Taking a shower may dehydrate it further into fatal levels.

OP is talking about the shit linked below...

Holy fuck lol, I meant I've been lurking /fit/. Fuck you guys and your /fit/ /ck/ rivalry shit threads.

This, kinda

In the actual thread, someone mentioned something about hypo/hyperthermia. You would be hyperthermic if you are hot then jump in a cold shower, as the body would heat up even more to cool the cold water. This could lead to heat stroke or whatever, can also happen if you are locked in a hot car and someone puts something cold on you.

That's idiotic, and you should punch your girlfriend in the face for being such a dumb cunt. Thermoregulation is a relatively simple process controlled by the anterior hypothalamic nucleus. To put it simply, if your core body temperature is already raised, there is absolutely no physiological way that it will try to raise it more. On top of that, even if you had some kind of neurodegenerative brain disease that completely destroyed your thermoregulatory ability, and you were constantly in heat-the-fuck-up mode, a cold shower WOULD KEEP YOU FROM BEING ABLE TO OVERHEAT.

If someone has an extremely high grade fever, do you know what the first line treatment is? I'll give you a hint: it isn't "put them in a HOT bath", as your logic would suggest.

Sounds like you really know your shit

Well, don't go nutz, going from very hot to very cold would probably not be the smartest idea but what the OP is talking about.... I mean come on, it's not like he is running RIGHT off the track into a cold pool. You finish running, you COOL DOWN after a long run by doing some walking, then your good to go. If you don't cool down then you aren't even doing cardio right.

Well that's true, but that 'cool down' is more metaphorical than literal. It's more 'let your muscles relax gradually so they don't cramp the fuck up' than 'literally get colder'.
>> Anonymous
No. It'll make you fat.

rinse off the sweat in warm water and go straight to a sauna or jacuzzi. stretch.

don't be the fag that jumps into the jacuzzi when he's all sweaty.
