Hi /fit/

I have a somewhat embarrasing problem. I'm a girl, and about a year ago I started strength training becaue I realized I had a ridiculously weak upper body. (I train karate, so this was a problem when I'm up against bigger guys.) So I've been strength training for about a year, built my arms and shoulders quite a bit, but suddenly, I started sweating like crazy! Now I can't wear tops I could a year back because I get these huge sweat patches under my arms, even when it's not remotely warm out.
Is it related? Maybe the extra muscle started some irreversible hormone inbalance? I'm not sure, because I feel fine otherwise...

I'm considering going to some specialist to see if there is anything to be done about this.

Pic somewhat related, and made me lol. (It's definetly not me, it's googled.)

unless you're taking steroids forget about the hormone balance.

you're probably sweating more due to the extra muscle creating extra heat. can't think of any other reason.

try a stronger deodorant.

don't worry about it, it's not that unattractive

Sweating a lot is done by either extremely fit people or extremely unfit people. The rest of us somewhere in the middle zone coast along without sweating too much.

You can condition your body to not sweat as much by drinking a little less water, so your body learns to conserve water.

Yes it is.

just no

Buy Driclor, it's cheap, works and will save you loads from not having to go to a specialist.

Stung like a bitch for me the first couple of times I put it on then it was fine.

>The active ingredient is Aluminium chloride hexahydrate.
Also contains alcohol and water, nothing else (listed on the bottle anyway)

Oh dear, you believe in the 8 tall glasses of water a day bullshit that the media and PE teachers all over has been feeding you since time immemorial?

IT'S A FUCKING HOAX. More people die from drinking too much water during strenuous exercise than drinking too little.

And you can condition your body to retain more water by simply drinking slightly less water.
>> Anonymous
>>91086
balls it is. I'm not unfit but I'm not particlarly fit either and I sweat all the time for no reason whether I drink a lot or not...
>> Anonymous
>>91110
So what about the 100s of studies that say drinking lots of water is good for you?

Your body retains the water because IT NEEDS MORE WATER. Your piss should be slightly coloured and close to odourless. Yes too much water can be fatal but you need to drink like 20+litres a day for quite a few months.

Links to the people who died from drinking too much during exercise.

Right because "not drinking a lot" for a single day is going to train your body into conserving water.

We're not talking about dying here. We're talking about optimal performance. And the fact of the matter is, is that being dehydrated, even slightly, brings significant declines in all areas of athletics. I don't care what you say, but when I go for a 15 mile run in 90 degree weather, I'm gonna need more than 8 glasses of water that day.
>> Anonymous
>>91125

Oh please, the studies say sufficient hydration is good for you, not "drinking so much water you have water gurgling in your stomach".

And how could you NOT hear about water intoxication?

http://drbenkim.com/drink-too-much-water-dangerous.html
http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=strange-but-true-drinking-too-much-water-can-kill

Also, an article referencing a journal article about you shouldn't drink too much water:

This "drink a lot of water" bullshit is a MYTH. And one of these days, another Evian-toting soccer mom is going to die in a marathon, and everyone will claim it was heat stroke instead of water intoxication.
>> Anonymous
>>91129

Riiiight, and everyone runs a marathon every fucking day in 90 degree weather. That's why I see those fucking bottles of Evian and Mount Franklin and whatnot being toted EVERYWHERE. Somewhere, someplace I don't know, all these people gather and run marathons.

Also, the majority of water intoxication has occurred with atheletes, especially marathon runners. I'd watch how much water I was drinking, if I was you.

Unless you chug about four liters in, what was it? Twenty minutes, you're not going to die from water.

Note for amerifags, 5 liters =~ 1 gallon.

>>91129

You are more likely to die of your brain swelling instead of dehydration in a marathon.

The thing is, most people DO chug pretty close to it. Haven't you noticed all these uni kids toting bottles of water everywhere?

What that thing I mentioned in my post
>> Anonymous
>>91146

Wait, so now that I provide the links, you resort to speaking gibberish?
>> Anonymous
>>91131
From your first link:
so 8-12 eight ounce glasses a day is a common recommended intake. You may need more water if the weather is very warm or very dry

Second link:
Forcing your body to accept a large amount of water within a short period of time - say, AN HOUR OR TWO

Third link:
Most cases of water poisoning do not result from simply drinking too much water

Fucking idiot
>> Anonymous
>>91147
How is what I said gibberish? Are you just too stupid to understand it?
>> Anonymous
>>91149
punctuation, use it fucker.

I believe what you wanted to say was
>What? That thing I mentioned in my post?
>> Anonymous
>>91148

The SECOND and THIRD link alone says that you do not have to drink the 8-12 glasses of water, and that enough water is usually provided in the food you eat.

Yeah, it doesn't simply result from drinking too much water. It results from how much your body retains the current batch of water as supposed to how much water you drink, as shown in the FOURTH LINK, as well as the fact that there is no such thing as "flushing the kidneys" because your kidneys will always process the same amount of toxins, extra water or no.

The FIFTH, SIXTH and SEVENTH link all state that there is no such thing as a recommended dietary intake of water, and because drinking too much water can fuck up your electrolyte balance, as well as the fact that THE LESS SALT IN YOUR BODY as well as THE MORE WATER YOU RETAIN, the desire to drink water is ironically greater.

My gawd, you are fantastic at selective reading.

15 miles isn't a marathon. You're taking things to too much of an extreme. I need more than 8 glasses of water a day. Simple as that. That doesn't mean I'm chugging a liter of water every minute. I do watch how much I drink, thank you very much. And I'm not in danger of hyponatremia. I'm simply stating that anyone engaging in streneous physical activity is going to need more than 64 oz of water in a day. Also, you can get hyponatremia from not drinking enough water.

Plus, why are you being such a dick about this?
>> Anonymous
OP here.

I wasn't expecting a shitstorm about water intake. I would say I drink quite alot of water, (compared to others I think) but I don't overdo it, or overthink it for that matter. I drink when I'm thirsty :/

>>91023
I've been using an anti perspirant spray on deo, but it doesn't work for shit. I've been looking around a bit for other brands.

>>91106
This sounds like something I could look into. Never heard of it before, but I'll see what the local drug store has.

Buy a really strong antiperspirant.

OP you suck, I had to look at that pic and it burns my eyes.
you need a stronger anti-perspirant. try it at home and if it doesn't work, see a doctor.
you may be producing too much testosterone. hurhur, you're turning into a man.

secret clinical strength

i woudl say go see your doc AND use a better anti-persperent...FUCK THE SPELLING

the increased muscle mass will create more heat in the body as muscle is lots more calorie active than fat, so the sweating is a natural way of losing heat from the body.

>>91110

you got any studies to back that outlandish claim up?
>> Anonymous
>>91131
yeah yeah yeah faggot we all know about water intoxication and we also know that it takes an enourmous amount of water in a short time and that more people do not die of it than dehydration so fuck off.

that's like saying i drink wine with meals FOOL DON'T YOU KNOW THE DANGERS OF ALCOHOLISM you fucking faggot.

>>91137
if you think that then you have no idea how much four litres is. fucking hell.

No one in this thread but me knows how to fix this. You can get botox injections in your armpits that will keep them from sweating.

I think it is VERY unattractive when girls get sweat marks. I've broken up with girls for it.
>> Anonymous
>>91439
wait, so you broke up with them JUST because they had sweat circles under their arms?
>> Anonymous
>>91439

I think sweaty girls are sexy.
>> Anonymous
in a marathon the main problem is not getting enough salts and drinking water just worsens this, drink gatorade or something with ELECTROLYTES every so often as well as water when running long distances.
>> Anonymous
>>91456
fuck yeah. there was this random chick i met that sweated like a pig while i was plowing her in the ass. shit was so cash, she had this tattoo in the small of her back and kept calling me daddy.
>> Anonymous
>>91466
Seriously though, I don't give a shit about sweating during sex, excercise etc. I just don't think it looks very fresh to have sweat circles in normal everyday situations.

>>91439
Yeah, I'm sure botox works wonders for rich celebrities.
