I heard that adding sugar to your protein powder after a workout is good. Yes?
>> Anonymous
not really

what would be the point?

It's the right idea, but not the best. White sugar is sucrose, and that takes to long to digest. You want to be spiking your insulin levels with a fast acting carbohydrate to rapidly increase protein synthesis. Maltodextrin and dextrose is the best, if you're a hardcore lifter.

Otherwise, if you're just a regular college bodybuilder, drinking a gatorade and a protein powder should be fine. I wouldn't recommend straight-up sugar as it's easy to overdo.

if you are bulking and are ectomorph yes... i have a friend that put dextros or wtf it's called and some oil in his shakes to gain weight

Yes, sugar in your post-workout drink is very good. Dextrose (another word for glucose) is the best kind.
