I know that you're supposed to fasten these in your doorway, but how? Is it complicated to install? Will it leave permanent marks that will piss of my landlord?

sorry, i couldn't stop myself

Did you already buy one? For like 30 bucks you can buy the "Doorway Gym" that is a ton easier to hook-up/use. No marks either.

shitsucks.
Always the risk that it doesn't carry your weight and you crash head-first down.
Second, your doorway will get fucked.

Better to invest in a power rack with integrated bar or a dip stand with latissimus thing.

Well, that's certain to leave some marks.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

Don't have the space for it or the money to invest.

Most chin-up bars require that you drill holes in your doorway to put little fastener things in, which the bar sits in, so it's probably not practical if you're renting.

If you live near a public park or playground, there are usually structures that are either intended to, or just happen to double as pull-up bars.

How does one come crashing down head first while doing chin-ups?

Well, I looked into it, and I can't find it anywhere local, and I don't have time to order it from somewhere and wait for it to ship over.

Is the bar originally posted terrible enough for you to recommend that I use other methods to train my back?

There's no playgrounds nearby, btw.

I was thinking of inversion boots.

If you happen to insert your pull up bar into a door frame which is not particularly strong, then it will, without warning, collapse. In conclusion as it would be somewhat unexpected, you wouldn't react in time and part of the door frame, the bar and your person would come "crashing down" to the floor.

Yeah they don't go together.

Well yes, but it wouldn't be head first unless you were using>>65384. Plus, you probably wouldn't hurt yourself unless you have a really slow reaction time.

this sounds like the basis of an excellent prank

What do you mean you don't have time?

Just order it and in the meantime, go to a local park or throw a rope over a tree branch.

Your arms aren't going to waste away while you wait a week for a bar to be delivered :S... Like someone suggested get one of the special bars which don't need to be fixed permanently and don't smash down your door frame

Do some press-ups in the meantime, wide arms for chest, narrow for mainly arms?

look for powertrainer thingie [powertrainer co.uk]

I just have very little time to get into as good shape as possible, and I'll probably have to sell the equipment again in just a couple of months.

its collapsible and small (and fairly cheap), just take the bloody thing with you man... Either that or you cant be arsed, so just do other exercises that don't require a bar to make up for it then..? Lot's of other good suggestions dude
