FOOD DIARY Anonymous
does /fit/ keep close track of what it eats everyday?

im thinking of starting a food diary...

I keep track of my calorie/carb/protein/fat/cholesterol intake on a whiteboard... though a journal is a better more private idea.

fitday.com is one way

I do a food diary. It's a pain in the balls for like two or three days, then it just becomes routine.

(not being a smartass, just wondering)

Allows you to know how many calories you're eating of what type of food, in order to lose fat and maintain lean body mass.

Also can be used to increase lean body mass.

Well, if you notice fluctuations or great success with one food setup for a while or great failure with another..

Also fitday.com is designed to auto calculate calories and such that you'd otherwise have to find. It's not perfectly accurate but it does a pretty good job.

considering I don't need to count calories and rather just need to eat constantly I don't really use it much

No problem. /fit/ is my new home after abandoning /v/ so I want it to stay active

One more thing a food diary does is it forces you to confront how much (or little) you're really taking in. I used to bitch about my slow metabolism until I kept a food diary for a couple weeks and realized I was taking in about 6500 calories a day.

When I was eating one-serving frozen meals (Stouffer's, Lean Cuisine, Michellina's, etc.) keeping a food log made calorie counting simple.

Trying to figure out my caloric intake is a pain in the ass now because I cook from scratch most of the time (with fresh meat and veggies) and my servings vary.

You can get a food scale for like ten bucks at WalMart. That should help things out.

I am just starting to keep track of my caloric intake.
At first it was to keep me under 2000, but since I started these meds that killed my appetite, I've been trying to keep above 1000.

Also,>>13292thanks for that site!
