So /fit/, I'm 19, 5'5" and 125lbs. I'm supposedly at a healthy weight.

Yet I'm still flabby and have somewhat of a gut and man boob.

I'm trying to get a daily routine of running and situps/pushups going. Is there any way to get rid of this without having to lose more weight? If I build up muscle will that work?

muscle weighs more than fat... so if you aim for gaining a pound of muscle for every pound of fat lost, then it will make you look much better, and you won't get xbox hueg or anything. it's easier to lose fat after you've gained the muscle, though.. muscle uses up more calories

Do I have to go about lifting weights to do this or will the running and other various exercises help with this?

skinny-fatty, why did you post this on multiple boards at once?

I realized /r9k/ would be a good place to complain but if I wanted to get something done about it the people here at /fit/ would actually know more what to do.

BMI charts are fail. According to that I am obese, yet my bodyfat% is only 13%

if you've never exercised much before, you don't really need to start off on the weights right away. it won't hurt, but it's not necessary. you can do pushups for the upper body, and while running/biking/swimming etc IS cardio, you will definitely feel your muscles burning the day after a long session.. which means they are getting stronger. after a short while though, you'll start to plateau with this and that's when weights will really start to help.

Alright. I'm trying to do about 30 minutes of running a day (mind you most of that right now is walking because I'm out of shape, but I'm still trying to keep my heart rate up there) then about 100 situps and 50 pushups.

Is this a good plan to start with?

common misconception is that ab workout will cause you to lose stomach fat. This is NOT true. Training your ab muscles will cause them to grow larger and push out the fat sitting on top of the muscles making your stomach look even bigger.
Seems like your goal should be dropping bodyfat..not worrying about abs.

I'm 5' 7" and weigh 1401 lbs. This chart says that's cool though.

BMI is a stupid and inacurate, and therefore useless, measurement.

BMI is an okay starting point, but really, if you have any muscle at all or a small/large frame, it just throw if off completely.

like, i'm 5'2 and have a tiny frame, so if i got up to even 120 or so it would be WAY too heavy for me.. even though it's still in BMI's healthy range.
