I get it. Everyone here is in love with the 5x5 routine. However I don't have a damn power cage, nor can I afford one. I've got a bench, a barbell, two dumbell sets and tons of cardio equipment available to me.

For the love of god and all that is holy, can anyone suggest something I can start off with that doesn't involve me needing to buy a damn power cage?

You can make your own power cage if you know someone with a bit of welding skills. The only exercise wich really requires a power rack is the squat.

I suggest browsing bodybuilding.com's exercise section. Select 'compound only'. For example, instead of a squat, you can do pistols or a squat variation that doesn't require a power rack.

I love the philosophy behind the 5x5 but I cannot build a cage, I cannot buy a cage, and I cannot find anywhere WITH one. My college gym is renovating currently and i'm SOL w/o it.

Learn to do cleans and clean the weight up to do front squats. Not as good as doing squats from the rack, since you won't be able to use as much weight, but it's good enough for now.

You don't need a cage...you can build yourself some squat stands with some 4x4's, 5 gallon buckets, and cement.

Or you could do front squats or zercher squats.

Clean & jerks I can do fine with my setup and would be happy to preform; I honestly don't know dick about what works what, or how much to do, etc.

I eat fine; I just want to lose some fat and bulk up. I feel retarded being a biology pre-med but not having any fucking clue how to work the muscles I need to.

Never heard of those other two squats; can you tell me more about building a cage? The Stronglifts site 'build a cage' is just a fucking photo of a cage some guy built but nothing else.

Just get some cheap squat rack if you wanna do back-squats.
Power cage is actually nice for benchpressing, since you don't need a spotter if you wanna go for max.
