Hi there, /fit/ people. Anyone else here trains boxing? I started not long ago (four months). My weight is 167 lbs and I'm 18.

This is also the first time I train something seriously... So I thought I could open a kind of discussion thread on 4chan about it. I'm really enjoying it, although I get tired really quick.

So, tl;dr — tips on boxing training techniques and anything else about boxing.

PS: I'm not in that picture.

Learn how to move. Do this before doing anything else. Practice moving around for at least 20 hours.

Get in a ring, hold your guard, and move back and forth, laterally, and practice quickly switching guards. When you've finished that, quit boxing and move into something more respectable like muay thai.

Also, jump rope a lot and improve your cardiovascular health as much as possible so you don't tire out after throwing six punches.

What do you mean by switching guard? Face/body or left/right?

Get your movement down pat, ring fluidity will get you out of any situation.

Also, the jab is the single most important punch in boxing, master it and you're a champion

Agreed.
Jabbing is everything. You can use it to disrupt your opponent's timing with great success.

When sparring expect to get hit. Don't be afraid to take a few punches in order to land your own.

I recently relearned this lesson while sparring again for the first time in years. Being overly defensive just resulted in getting hit even more.
