Alright, /fit/, I'm 215lb, 5"9' and I'm wanting to lose weight.

Most of the fatass threads on here are still having trouble with the dieting, but i'm perfectly fine with it.

I generally eat 3/4 of an apple at 6:45, eat a full orange around 12 o'clock, then eat a Ham/GrilledChiknz, Lettuce, Tomato sandwich, on Wheat bread, sometime around 5:00, and then I usually eat some sort of vegetables before 10:00, but only once in those five hours.

Now, what could i do to work out, with this?
I usually do 20 sit ups and 20 pushups before i go upstairs to get some food, water, or bathroom, then i come down and do them. Sometimes i do them randomly anyways.

tl;dr I can eat right, how do i workout correctly?

Pic Unrelated.

No you're not. You need to eat more. You're eating like 2000 calories under your maintenance.

OP Here.

So, i want to eat more? What are optimal times of day to eat exactly? My Metabolism is down the shitter, so i need to work my eating times well.

Under-eating puts your body in starvation mode. Eat healthy foods and consume a few hundred calories less than you burn, each day. 1-2 lbs a week is a good goal.

Alright, thanks anon.

I'm going to assume that my calorie intake should decrease as i age?

Yeah, but very slowly. And your BMR should decrease as you lose fat, obviously, but increase when you gain muscle.

OP Here.

So, i was planning on fitting in around 150 pushups, situps, and squats a day, to start. I'm not going to go to a gym or anything, so everything will be done at home. I'll probably buy, and start lifting, some weights once i get the money for some.

Good idea? y/n.

Oh, and as far as exercises are concerned, if you have gym access or the capital for a good rack/barbell/weight set, look into Stronglifts 5x5 (google it, it's a very newbie-friendly program). Do big heavy compound exercises, start light, and use linear progression - increase your load not every month or every week, but every workout.

If you don't, you're gonna have to go to someone else for help, cuz I don't personally know a good bodyweight regimen.

This sounds great. I'd reccommend getting a nice cheap pull-up bar, too. Keep working at 'em if you can't do them at first, chins and pulls are both great exercises.

Oh, and don't do sit-ups. Do crunches. I'm not a huge fan of ab isolations exercises anyway, though.

Sounds good, i'll definetally get started on that shit.
Also, Crunches seem a shitload easier, too. So that's a big plus.

Oh and, with about 1.5lb/week, that'll avoid that flabby skin i've been reading about on here, right?
I'm sure that it will, but you can never be too sure, seems like a motherfucker to deal with, i'd rather just be obese.

Yeah, definitely. Drink a lot of water, too. Though at 215 and 5'9'', you probably won't have too much of a skin problem. Just a guess, everyone's body is different.

can we get this thread stickied? it pretty much has all the basic info noobs ask about all the time

No doubt, all i ever drink is water for basically the entire summer.
One last thing, then i'm off.
Is this whole "Stress builds fat" thing serious? or is that a load of shit to sell those stupid diet pills?
>> Anonymous

Stress often leads to poor eating habits, poor eating habits build fat. Consuming more than you expend makes you gain weight, consuming less than you expend makes you lose it. That's really the first and most important thing you need to know about fitness, and you'd be surprised how many people don't even realize it.

Seconded.

Threads like this all the time, this will solve all the fatties' problems. At least, it will lay out a solution.

Too much OM NOM NOM, not enough SQUATZ

Yea i agree but you need to add that most of those calories need to come from protein/fiber(they actually require energy to be processed by your body) its ok to eat fat thats not a problem just don't eat many carbs like 30-100 grams a day you can have 50 grams after you workout with your protein shake...you have to realize that food is sorta like chemistry in your stomach if you eat a high-gi food you need to balance it with some low-gi foods....(so for instance if you want to drink a protein shake as a meal replacement eat a fiber bar(i love these fiber one bars with 10grams of fiber but add fiber slowly to your diet it is going to make you fart a bit) so every 4 hours you should be eating 10grams of fiber and 40-50 grams of fiber if you need an in between snack i know its contrary to what you've been taught but eat cheese or natural peanut butter or something eating too little fat will cause your hormone levels to plunge and make it harder to lose weight/gain muscle i would really recommend you get a fish oil supplement and eat a few of those everyday as well......because you are probably going to eat too little fat no matter what...and fish oil is like fucking magic.....also you should go get some fucking herbal amphetamines for when you jog because fuck it everyone out there is using them i only use some green tea shit with a bunch of caffine but i can jog probably twice as long when i pop them and its only about as much caffine as coffee...and your young so your heart can still handle it.....

If you're doing crunches correctly, they shouldn't be easier than sit ups.

Loose skin comes usually with losing more than 2 or 3 lbs a week. It is probably varied though.

Also, you don't want to be obese.
