If you have a fast metabolism, you can try either doing more sets or longer sets.
Working on muscle tone and definition first requires a bit of muscle, but I guess if you want to just work your stomach, do some pilates or something. There are a lot of soccer workouts that focus on mainly the muscle, and there are a ton of dumbell exercises you can do that'll really give you a trim waistline (weighted situps, oblique workouts, etc)
but like 33370 said, you have to feel the burn
