Am I right in thinking HIIT is the best way to get rid of fat while increasing endurance and not gaining too much muscle?

I want my abs and pecs to show by lowering body fat % to a minimum, NOT by increasing muscle bulk. My reasoning behind this is that I'm already huge, what I don't need is to get even bigger.

I want to look like a marathon runner, not a Guido.

In a sense. HIIT has been shown to be better at increasing VO2 max and anaerobic capacity than long slow aerobic exercise, but if you want to be a distance runner or an endurance athlete, the bulk of your training should be endurance work.
Even then though, it can be beneficial to train at higher intensities on occasion. Fartleks (speed play) are beneficial to runners trying to break plateaus.

No. Something really high intensity like running hill sprints or rowing at a high intensity is going to help you build muscle, but in a good way.
Getting ecksbawks hueg is a fuck lot harder than you think, and it happens over many, many months if not years. It's not like you're going to finish doing sprints, accidentally eat a steak and wake up looking like Ronnie Coleman.

If you have any friends that are LONG distance runners, take a look at them and evaluate if that's really what you want to look like. Most marathoners are really overly lean.

This happened to me a few days ago, it was awful.

Alsp, you aren't huge, I can tell from that pic. And if you don't want to get bigger, just don't eat as much. You can't gain size if you don't increase your calories.
