If you want to be skinny and not be muscular, I would stick with cardio workouts and maybe some strength training on the side. Keep in mind though that muscle burns fat for energy.
The most important things about cardio are VARIETY and CONSISTENCY. If you run a lot, your body will make you more efficient at running, which is BAD. You want to expend as much energy as possible. So switch things up by trying other cardio activities like biking, rowing, HIIT, etc. Be sure to stick to your plan because it'll become a habit.
And don't forget diet. Low refined sugars, low saturated fat, lots of fruits and veggies, lean meats like chicken and fish, etc.
