How come people say it's harder to lose weight than to gain it? It's pretty easy to lose 2lb a week, but thinking back on it, I don't recall ever being able to gain that much in fat in a week.

Cause you have to work out, and watch what you eat if you want to lose weight, if you don't give a fuck, you do what you want and eat what you want, when you want.

Considering that most people who WANT to lose weight only have excess weight due to their desire to eat bad food or not exercise, it is easy to see how it is hard to lose weight. Self denial is teh difficult.

Gaining weight and losing weight can be harder for different types of people. Gaining weight has been exceptionally hard for me, but for others losing weight would probably be within the same difficulty range.

Admittedly, I used to be one of those people. But, one night at around 1:00 AM, I decided to fuck it. I had just finished a bag of Cheetos and some left over cheese cake, watching Conan. Of course, I let Conan finish, but after that, I went and threw every thing away. It was about 1:45 AM, and I got into my car, and drove to the nearby Wal-Mart supercenter. I bought things I never imagined buying for a healthy life style... And the next day, I got a gym membership, and have been working out since. I've lost 52 lb, and I feel great. I do eat out from time to time or have a nice sweet or something, but it's all about moderation.

I gained over 10lbs in about a week.

All of it in fat.

unless you were eating raw lard from a can or rendered fat from the slaughter house floor, i doubt it. most of it was water.

op's question is very difficult to answer without individual activity level, metabolism, diet factors, body size etc. taken into consideration.

for example, if you are more than 20-30 lbs over nominal body weight for your frame, it is relatively easy to loooooooose 2-3 lbs per week. however, once you reach a range that is about 5-10 lbs over nominal, your body naturally resists the losing fat (that's fat, not weight; learn the difference). you can still looooooose it, just not as easily/quickly.

likewise, some people can gain very quickly (i am in this category). after a long lay off from the gym, i can put on 15-20 lbs in 3-4 weeks, based on diet and exercise practices because i know how my body reacts after having experimented for a few years.

learn what your body can and can't do w/r/t diet and exercise and plan accordingly. sorry i can't be more help, but you need to figure some things out for yourself.
