Walkfag here. Around how much should I be walking a day to lose some weight? I understand nothings going to happen very fast but I've been walking for 45 mins everyday and haven't seen much improvement.

My diet is "ok" but I guess could use some work. I don't eat junk food or drink soda or anything stupid but in my ignorance I've been going for more of the starving method than the small-meals-throughout-the-day method. I usually skip breakfast, don't eat lunch, have a small snack after school at around 3 o'clock (could use some tips for healthy snacks as well if possible) and then dinner is what ever my mom makes (yes I'm a fag) but it's usually quite healthy. Is this terrible? If so what should I change too @_@

Ty, the thing is I don't really get tired after 45 minutes, I could probably go all day. The problem is that I get bored out of my mind. Obviously this is my problem and I should have the willpower to keep going anyway, but I just don't. I use an ipod and listen to that but that only keeps me entertained for so long. Anything I could bring on a treadmill to keep me going?

Your diet is possibly the worst thing you can do. You're going for some kind of anorexic thing, but you don't realize real anorexics really don't lose weight very fast and they starve themselves for very long periods of time to get that skinny. It's a mental disorder that tells them they are not allowed to eat...you can't just force yourself to do this to get skinny, you have to really develop the disease.

Basically, you're seeing no results because you RUINED your metabolism. Your body is not willing to give up fat because it knows it needs to hold on to it for as long as possible. You're skipping two meals and then eating one single meal, and ALL of that single meals is going directly into fat reserves because you've confused the shit out of your body and it's saying "HOLY FUCK WE ARE GONNA DIE IN A FEW MONTHS IF I DON'T TURN EVERYTHING TO FAT, FUCK YOU BRAIN BEING THIN IS NOT THIS IMPORTANT HOLY FUCK WE NEED FOOD ASSHOLE".

If you want to lose weight, you need your body to realize it's SAFE to lose weight. You will NEVER lose weight if your body is in a state of constant panic over your energy levels. This is why small meals works so well, your body always knows it is getting constant food and then it says "Hey, thanks! We really don't need to store all this extra fat if we're being fed regular meals!".

It's just like if you're constantly getting fired from jobs and money is tight. You're not going to give up your money for anything that isn't 100% necessary. But if you're constantly being supplied with a steady income and have a secure job, you're not afraid to spend money. Money = fat in this analogy.

I would say, run first, then walk when you cant run anymore. You will get more out of your routine, if you are tring to lose fat.

I was obese for my height (this was a few years back), but I still lost the weight. In fact, I still lost weight walking after that first 40 lb, but I started incorporating other cardio, and I increased the speed a little.

meh, yeah walking may build up your endurance a little (a lot if your a fatty fat McSitalot) but the amount you burn doing it is dick compared to any REAL strain you could put on your body (ah.. run? or even jog for fucks sake, do some WORK).

point is: your body adapts to become efficient at things you do regularly. you are a bipedal creature... walking is your PRIMARY means of mobility. you do it ALL THE FUCKING TIME (again, assuming you arent fatty fat McSitalot), therefore your body is accustomed to doing it, and is EFFICIENT at doing it.

whats EFFICIENT mean kiddies? it means using less resources to accomplish the same goal.

In this case, your legs have adapted to the load, and can perform it quite admirably, however to move your body the same speed in the same direction, you'd have to exert a multitude more energy to do so with your arms. i.e. more calories burned.

Thanks for the input guys, gonna try and eat about 4-5 small meals a day.

Breakfast - Fruit or cereal?
Lunch - I guess I'll start bringing something to school :? Nothing they serve is healthy.
Lunch2- Some vegetable or something
Dinner - What the parents make if its healthy, something else if not.

Thats only four but I'm not sure where I could fit any more. Only possible spot would be another "lunch" kinda thing.
