i'm new to weight lifting and i heard that compound exercises help to build a lot of muscle. i'm a rather skinny guy and i was wondering if you guys could give me some examples of routines in your workouts and some compound exercises i could possibly use in my future workouts?

Do exercises like Squats, bench press, pull ups, dips, jerks, snatches, lunges, chinups, military press, deadlifts, stiff legged deadlifts, rows, and cleans. Rotate your rep scheme so sometimes your lifting for power, other times your lifting for endurance.

what does rotating your rep scheme mean? does that mean for one set you're doing heavy and another set you're doing light?

means some days high reps, low weight.
Other days low reps, high weight.
Thats not the important part, the exercises he listed are compound like you asked.

it seems like those exercises work several different parts of your body. should i consolidate those exercises so i do one part of my body like my lower body and upper body one day or should i just try to do full body exercises all the time. in muscle magazines, i always read about doing chest one day, back the next, legs the next, etc.

those are all fine but snatches aren't usually a practical lift.
