I suck at my body, Anon.

I was in decent shape when I was in high school, mainly because I played DDR for 3-4 hours a day, every day. Didn't have much muscle outside of my legs, but I was thin. Then college + social life combo made me stop any and all exercise. I'm 5'6" and I went from 145lbs to 210lbs in no time, and haven't been able to shed it. To make matters worse I've picked up smoking, though I'm trying to quit now (no smoke in 4 days, I feel like absolute poop).

Lately I've wanted to get back in shape. I've been power walking around the hills where I live for about 30mins/day, but not much else besides that. I'm aware I could be doing some pushups or crunches or something here at home but I've not been motivated enough lately, partly due to my apartment being sort of a "party house" amongst my friends. I also eat terribly, my diet usually consists of cheap fast food and Pepsi.

I've wanted to buy a small weight set, but due to some terrible financial discipline my parents passed down to me, my money situation is in the gutter. Can't afford a gym membership, can't afford weights. Hell, I've been thinking about selling my car to pay off a defaulted credit card debt I owe.

So, anon, what kind of exercises/diet should I take up to start weaning myself off of this path to being an out of shape hobo?

Have you tried getting back into DDR?

well i think that bodyweight is a bit ghetto but its still pretty good for upper body workout

Get another credit card, max it out with l337 weight set, declare bankruptcy.

That, anon, is how to get free stuff. You may also want to procure a shotgun for those pesky repo men.

Me again. In all seriousness, just do bodyweight exercises. Pushups, situps, squats, isometrics, pirated tae bo tapes, anything. When people talk about the best of the best exercises on this board, they are entrenched in min/maxing: getting the most out of every ounce of effort put into it. However, anything you do (that doesn't injure you) will give you progress.

Also, if you ARE in college, they are almost certain to have a communal gym that'll cost you nothing to peruse. Look into it.

OP here; I would get back into DDR but the machine in our town was moved away when they shut down the arcade. I was actually working there at the time, the bastards gave us 2 days' notice that we were losing our jobs. Anywho, no more dancing games for me unless I want to drive an hour every day to the nearest one.

I'd like to do pushup/situp/etc kind of stuff, but my room is tiny, too small to exercise much in. And like I said earlier, our place is known as a party/hangout apartment, so there's not much room elsewhere for me to do anything like that when I'm not working.

Every morning wake up an hour earlier than normal and do some HIIT running. Buy groceries and learn how to cook your own food, it's much cheaper than eating fast food shit.

I'd find a nearby park, jog to it, do push-ups and pull-ups on the kiddie playground to exhaustion, then jog back. Every morning.
