Muscle Imbalance Anonymous
So, /fit/

I was doing concentration curls on my left bicep yesterday (trying to correct a muscle imbalance), and I was hitting failure after the first rep or two after the first set. Provided, I had done my normal 5x5 narrow barbell curl before; but I decided that in order to correct the problem I should work my left arm until failure.

After I hit failure, I would use my right arm to raise my left arm with the weight (as I could not get it up with only my left arm after the first few failures); but, when I went to lower the weight, that is when I would work my arm, but trying to lower the weight as slowly as possible with my left arm.

I did 5x5 sets of these, and to my delight, the next day my left bicep was soar while my right arm remained at a normal recovery state.

Should I continue at this until my imbalance is corrected, and is there a name for what I am doing?

I believe the term for what you're doing is called the Cervix curl. I could be wrong though.

Assisted negatives. Yes, keep doing them. Do strong arm without any help, then assist the weak arm to do the amount you could do with the strong arm. You'll close the gap in size, but one arm will probably always be a little bigger.
