I'm so proud of myself /fit/.

I excercised today for 30 minutes.
Since I'm not used to this, how often should i go about doing this.

Every other day?
Twice a week?
Weekends?

If it was cardio, every day. If you're not sore, it means it's time to work out.

Depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want change fast, either because you're really fat or want to become really fit, 6 days a week is the way to go. If you're reasonably fit already and your daily activities involves physical activity, like walking to job/school, twice a week might do. Give us a general idea of what shape you're already in and what shape you want to get in.

I'm fat.

So... Six days a week it is!

i do 3 days a week for 20-30min (sometimes i need to stop at 25). really, even 3 days a week > none at all (which a ton of americans are doing). just pace yourself and gradually increase, i usually run nonstop with a goal of 30min on my treadmill at either 4 or 5mph, like i said if i have to stop at 25 i will, its better than nothing. just be sure to stick to your goal/intervals, even if its just m-w-f like i do, just stick to the plan and gradually increase.

If you're a woman, lift weights three times a week, and do cardio 5-6 days a week.

Sounds better..

I guess I'll just see what I am capable of doing and work from there.

Well, six days a week is pretty much the maximum amount of exercise without overworking. I'd recommend it if you want as much training as possible, but you don't have to go with it just because you're fat. Also, don't be too ambitious in the start, it's easy to get motivation the first work out, but if you push yourself too hard, it'd turn out badly. When you're used to exercising regularly, then you can start getting ambitious. It's not too hard, you just have to be careful with yourself.

It's difficult for me to not be so motivated about this; because I just know It'll be a fantastic turn out in the end.

But yeah, I won't push myself too hard.

well, if you weight train to really "failure", then your muscles will be somewhat sore and very tired, that you cannot work particular muscles to that level again in a couple days.

not sure about cardio. I hate cardio. except biking, i'm strong biking to a fast start. but my endurance is probably made of suck.
