i'm trying to get /fit/.

i'm female. 5'4" at 145lbs. my measurements are 36-28-39.

lots of people think that i look okay, and i don't have to worry about it. the problem is that i really want to be skinny.

this is my usual work-out plan:
30 minutes of cardio everyday.

most of these sets are 10 reps, 4 sets:
230lb, leg press
15-20lb, curls
bar, squats
bar + 2.5 on each side, bench press

Still, don't eat one meal, since that is making your metabolism go into starvation mode. Spread 1200-1400 calories out over the day.

Eat mainly complex carbs, for example, nibble on some wheat-thins six times a day.

For weight loss? Sure.

For FAT loss? I would never recommend anyone go that low. You risk losing lean muscle mass, and going with the smallest effective calorie deficit is the way to go. It makes you less likely to rebound.

If you want to forsake health for pure vanity, then sure, go for it. You'll lose muscle for sure though if you don't lift weights. Not only will you get weaker, but your metabolism will drop and it'll get harder and harder to lose fat.

If a 5'4" female weighs 145lbs I'm guessing her bmi is somewhere around 24, which puts her bmr at around 1600-1700 cals per day (assuming sedentary) anyway. At that range a reduction to 1200 cals will not trigger a starvation response or muscle wasting if she sticks to eating small meals throughout the day. Any lower, however, and I'd agree with you.

DO NOT just eat one meal a day. eat wholemeal crap, eat atleast THREE meals per day. if you only eat one, your metabolism will stop and you'll get fatter.

Definately eat breakfast, and eat sometime in the middle of your day, and eat 2-4 hrs before going to bed.

1. Eat 500 less calories a day. Eat a little bit less at every meal and that should do it.
2. Run for 20 minutes a day to start. Build up to 1 hour a day. Do it 3x a week.
3. Do some weight training. You can't get buff, impossible unless steroids due to female body type. It's a myth.

Eat less calories if you want to lose fat. But make the ones you do eat protein instead of sugar/fat.

OP. Also, do ab work. I reccomend starting at 4 sets of 20 sit ups. And building up to sets of 50. Add weighted ones in then. It will make your stomach tight instead of flabby when you lose your belly.

In the end it's all diet. You're going to need VERY disciplined eating to get THAT thin and stay that way.
Cardio will accelerate things but if your nutrition is poor (too much/not enough) nothing else will matter. You cannot equal what you do or do not eat with exercise.

You probably do; It's a big problem for a lot of women. www.fitday.com; you can start a journal there for free. Logging your food is the only way to make sure you're eating right.

losing fat is determined by how many calories you burn, not by how many you intake.

if you burn 1000 calories and intake 2000 calories, your body will maintain a fat store. if you JUST cut back your calories to a meager 1000 calories (wich is enough to stay alive, but not much else) - you WILL maintain fat. your body will get smaller, but you'll still have fat stores.

no, you'll burn quite a few calories at work if you work an 8 hour day on your feet. for your caloric intake, you have to take into acount everything you eat throughout the day.

for your calorie burn, you have to take into acount everything you do during the day, be it sitting, walking, running, lifting boxes or what have you.

I work a set of 5 lens polishers for 8 hours a day. that involves lifting 1lb fining tools onto and off of the machines once every 6 minutes, and I have to move from station to station as quickly as possible. so lets assume that I', doing the equivalent of 4mph walking for 8 hours, totally 16 miles for the day.

at 155lbs, i've burned 1409 calories. I don't do anything before or after work, i'm on the computer most of the time. so lets say I only burn 100 calories outside of work.

for a 2,000 calorie a day diet, i'm looking to burn roughly 500 calories at the gym to get rid of the extra so it doesn't go to fat stores (i am actively getting fatter :( )

an example of how I could do that, if I ran 4 miles a day, i'd cut off the extra calories. If I ran 5 miles, I'd start losing fat.

If I did hardcore spinning for 45 minutes a day, i'd burn around 720 calories, wich would get me to where i'd be losing fat, considering my work excersize and my 2000 calorie intake.

You are never going to be a stick. It's much more important to be healthy anyway.
You need to eat more throughout the day, your metabolism is probably terrible from only eating one meal a day, just make sure it's still healthy food ( fruits, veggies, oatmeal, etc.), but don't obsess with what your eating.
More cardio might also help take off some flab, or try some HIIT.

Be realistic with your goals, and be happy with who you are. Using models as thinspiration while eating next to nothing is only going to lead to an eating disorder.
