RAGE GOES IN EVERY FIELD Anonymous
Time for a real bitchin' /fit/ thread.

Raise your hand if you're fit as hell but still have a fat belly that's refusing to go away after weeks and weeks of effort, and you're pissed that it's not going away any quicker.

I'm not alone, right?

Pic related, me dropping 20 lb (170 to 150) in 3 weeks over winter break by endurance running (ran a total of 100 miles that break), and eating close to nothing but minimal amounts of protein while doing it (sub 1000 cal daily). I'm frustrated now because I'm trying to do it the healthy way without losing much muscle in the process, HIIT & weight training & 1000 cal mostly-protein diet only, and dang results are slower. But this isn't about me. Who else suffers from such time-lagged afflictions?

Oh, really?

Me.

You can't be fit as hell eating around 1000 calories a day.

With some obviously unhealthy caloric-deficient compromises, yes...

6 weeks now. My ass has shrunk considerably, my manboobs shrunk, but I still have spare truck tire around my waste.

Depends on what you want to define fit by. I was fit enough to run a marathon in 3 hours 15 at the end of those 3 weeks. Let's just quit the impending argument and blame genetics, shall we? The way I figure it, my ancestors starved often, so my body's adapted to both storing fat quickly and using fat efficiently. I can easily work past any fatigue of actively using fat stores. But sure, my methods are entirely not healthy nor conventional. Once I get my bf down, that's when I'll start eating the proper amount of calories--until then, I want hell to get to that point asap.
>> Anonymous
Shit, man, you need to start eating more. You're malnourished. You're caloric deficit is so great that your bodyhair is starting to fall off!

well i'm fit and have a belly but i don't care about it
i just want a bigger squat

did you shave? ololol

your body is retaining fat because your starving your body, a man your size needs more calorie intake so your metabolism will be higher.

>>178573

Shut up. Eat more. The male body stores more fat in the gut than anywhere else. Starving yourself with anything under 1700 calories a day will make your body retain fat... in the gut. When I cut I eat 3000 calories a day and manage to lose 3-4lb a week... because I eat 3000 cals of the right stuff

I've tried it, man. I've gone on a 50P/30F/20C (ratio) diet before, intaking up to 3000 calories of the healthiest natural sources I could find. I did HIIT 3 times a week, lifted weights (not machines) twice a week, and I practice a martial art twice a week. While this way of eating rev'd up my metabolism actively, it surely didn't kill 2000 calories a day like an exercise-based and intake-restrained method did which left me waking up every morning feeling lighter and tighter.

I'm sorry that I'm so misinformed here to as to invoke your rage. In other threads on /fit/ about cutting, I've seen advice on the lines of "cut your calories, do more HIIT" and I figured I might as well take it to the extreme on the deficit side. In the past, enormous defecits did me a lot of good, as per the picture, but the muscle gained in following only expanded out the fat more, and thus now I want to do a quick cut.

What is the correct method then, /fit/gods, which way will cut the fat quickest for me? I'm 160 lb 5'10, 12-14% body fat and I want to get down to 7-8%. Maybe I should post a new thread?

Why the fuck did you lose the chest hair, OP? Shit is manly. You usually shave chest hair if you DO have a define chest/stomach, not if you DON'T.
>> Anonymous
OP isn't fit as hell.

Also were you chunky as a kid?
The amount of fat cells you have in your body is fixed when you're young. All the exercise in the world won't cut down on them, it'll just make them smaller.

TL;DR it's genetic bitch.

Learn to live with it and stop saying that you're "fit as hell" when you have the build of a 90lb weakling.

I wanted to get a better progressive look at muscle definition. In that period, I was doing hella pushups and situps (just starting out weight training at all, even if its weak shit). These days I do a lot better for myself in way of weight training, curling 40s currently, benching a weak 100, maxing out at 10 pullups. I don't know, I guess I am pretty weaksauce fo real.

But yeah, care to enlighten me about this dream diet that lets me eat 3000 calories a day, only directly killing 800 calories every other day with exercise?

FYI these pictures are old and before I got into actual lifting. I'm a different looking guy with much better fitness, I don't know what you're basing your insults on.

100 lbs. single arm snatch, 350 lbs. parallel box squat, 10'3" horizontal leap, 32" vertical jump, 100 consecutive pushups, 30 consecutive pullups... and my bodyfat still hovers around 13%. Fuck that shit

I'm surprised nobody's linked to Venuto yet. Seems like the OP's read it, since he mentions a 50/30/20% diet, but I might as well link it anyway

Jesus fine, here. This is exactly why I want to cut. At this point, I'm satisfied with my strength and I just want the definition that even a skinny fuck can have with a low enough bf %.
>>178770
I read it, and when I put it in practice, I wasn't dropping fat as quick as I would'ved like. To put it simply, I'm not afraid of drinking 12 bottles of water a day with vitamins and going to sleep hungry after working out for 3 hours during. Shit, I got the motivation to do whatever it takes.

Did you read the part that says that the only way you'll lose fat and keep it off is by losing not more than 1-2 pounds a week?
>> Anonymous
>>178799
Did you read all the parts about the starvation response? I don't think you read the whole thing, just the parts you wanted to.

He's right. You don't remove fat cells after puberty, they just become empty, but they're so tiny that it really doesn't matter.

Here's a fun fact: The average person of a healthy weight has about 40 BILLION fat cells in their entire body. It takes literally thousands of fat cells to store the energy in about 25 calories. You literally just emptied a few thousand fat cells by jerking off or brushing your teeth.
>> Anonymous
>>178803
Yes, but I overlooked that once I killed 50 lb in 2 months with a hugeass deficit, when I went from 210 to 160 the first time and maintained it up to this day. That was two years ago and the fat hasn't piled back up. Because of this, I tend to play by my own stupid rules.
>> Anonymous
>>178805
Read it and then proceeded to experience otherwise first-hand. You know, everyone here in /fit/ tends to treat the average statistical results like fact and any deviation, be it due to genetics or ambiguous foods in diet, that all tends to not matter when helping out. Because I had a different experience, I imagined myself to be something different than the general guideline, and as such, I followed a deviant path as well.

But see, if you guys would quit trolling and telling me what THE MAN says I'm doing wrong, maybe you can tell me how to fix it with your knowledge. My metabolism is normal now, my hormone levels are top notch, my blood pressure is above-average, my lung capacity last measured in at 190% the average, and I easily endured a marathon. By these standards, I'm fit and able to proceed in trying out whatever exercises you throw at me in way of cutting fat, and I'm open to doing whatever diet advice you give me so long as you're specific enough about it instead of saying "good stuff".

I appreciate advice from /fit/, it gave me HIIT and empathy. So instead of raging on my past and misinformed present tendencies, could you tell me what I should do, given I'm open to it and that I'm far more capable physically than your general beginner?

Have sex with this book. It's by a really hung stud. He gets my panties wet... and I'm a dude!

Also, Protip: "Cutting" comes after building some muscle, which you don't have. Please keep us notified once you have some muscular bulk and begin trying that super-low calorie BS. You'll probably lose it all preferentially.

You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. Your body lost 50 lbs dieting your way, but by no means was that the actual right way, and consequently you look skinny-fat.

I apologize that I'm such a novice when it comes to these things. I'm not really in it for strength per say, and I only began weight training when /fit/ told me it was great for weight loss. The marginal gains I did make boosted my spirits about myself and I guess I spoke too soon. At different angles I look pretty good, but so does everyone.

Going by the book I should be consuming 1175 calories from protein, 705 from fat, and 470 from carbs every day. Knowing that simple carbs and unsaturated fats are best, does /fit/ have any recommendations for me in terms of specific foods? Otherwise I'll probably be downing cottage cheese and whey because I don't know any better.

In b4 get a tan. Working on it.

Did you puff out your chest like a madman or do you normally look like that?

I puffed it out moderately, only so that my ribcage didn't show some indentation. My ribcage is pretty big, so unless I puff that shit out I doubt it'll look decent (not saying I do now).
