OK guys my diet is pretty crap at the moment and as I know nothing about nutrition I turn to your wonderous expertise!

Any advice on what sort of diet someone with a body like this is on?
>> Anonymous
a guy like that is on more than just a diet.to have a body like that you have to make a lifestyle out of living healthy, its not gonna happen overnight.but the quickest way to get something similar to that is to bulk and then cut,or if your overweight, try to cut while keeping the muscle you have.a cut is eating less than you daily caloric maintanance, and a bulk is eating more foe a period of time.

i usually like to do it in 6 month cycles, bulking you can usually gain about 1 pound a week of clean muscle, but obviously your gains are never going to be completely clean.cutting is a little trickier which is why not everyone has a six-pack(because its difficult).but like i said the trick is to eat under your caloric maintanance(if you dont know caloric maintanance, look it up on google,i dont want to explain it right now).meanwhile you should still be lifing heavy and doing light cardio keeping your heartrate low and doing sessions of 30-45 minutes.

keep your diet clean, protein is even more important during a cut, because your trying to keep your muscle,so eat 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight everyday.load up on carbs at breakfast and after your workouts, other than that keep them low but dont eliminate them, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, lots of fiber, and some healthy fats(fish oil, peanut butter)and eat foods like fat free yogurt and cottage cheese, lowfat milk and cheese, you cant go wrong with dairy.eat lean meats like fish and chicken, but dont cut out steak and pork cause they are great for muscle.use protein shakes if you have to,but if you can get the protein you need without them then dont.dont forget a multivitamin and amino acids.

if you can commit to that then you can look like that guy,its that easy.it would probobly take a few years of bulking and cutting to look like him,but after every successfull cut,you will be looking amazing for you.good luck

You need at least 3 steroid cycles to look like that, it probably took him years to get to look like that

Not Op, but very informative. Thanks. What kind of workout would he do to get something like that? Would something like Stronglifts work?
Or does he focus more on Isometric exercises?

stronglifts are always a good foundation, and lifting for strength is always going to result in a bigger body,so i would definately suggest that for bulking phases, the time will come when your going to have to target specific muscles,so i would suggest moving to a muscle specific split if bb is your goal.ie chest/tri,back/bi,legs/shoulder or something similar to that.but stronglift is a great foundation for size, and dont forget to always lift heavy if you want to be big

>>440838here,

Excellent. Thank you very much. I am on the chubby side, so I'll start off with Stronglifts to build a strong base, along with bulking, then I'll start to cut after six months (?) like you said. And I'll see how it goes from there.
thanks again.

A day beginning at 6AM and ending at 10PM
A non-hi-intensity jog for 30 min outside always east to begin your day, beginning and ending with a stretch. Set your goals, make them happen in your mind.

An active day, (work counts). Get a lot done.

Or if you have a sitting job then hour long light work out every day or 30-40 hi intensity work out 4 times a week. STRETCH and RELAX when you need. Listen to your body.

Animal protein and vegetables (or non-sugary fruit) 3x a day with plenty of sea salt and minerals to help digest. (Kelp helps that)

Fruit and light protein (nuts or the like) 2 times in between meals.

Herbs in moderation (That includes tea) and some form of cultured food or probiotics should be the only supplements you take, unless you have a sickness or other ailment.

At least half your body weight in oz of water a day. And more if you take any diuretics.

And always, listen to your body. Attain what you need and use it well.

^That is the ideal lifestyle^
No one follows it to a T. Get as close to that as possible and you will be healthy.

no worries man.as far as the bulking, anywhere from three to six months will work,i tend to lose some muscle on my cuts and thats why i bulk for six months.if your holding a little extra weight i would suggest maybe a four month bulk instead, that way you can get to your cut earlier and hopefully be beach ready for the summer.good luck

Sorry, OP here; I mean toward the sun, not east. I forget some people live south of the equator and all that shit.

You can also have starch (like tubers or soaked grains---NOT WHEAT) instead of fruit and nuts. Don't eat meat and starch together. It's tough on your digestion. Meat goes best with oil and leafy, mineral-rich veggies.

Exellent, I will keep that in mind. Thank you very much!

But let me ask you this...last question, I promise. I'm overweight, but not obese. I'm borderline. 18% (online calc, who knows how accurate that is) bodyfat, 5'9, 200lbs.
So, should I add cardio after each day using stronglifts? Or should I focus on lifting and bulking only, then after four months, cut and do cardio?

Thanks so much for the help.

i would suggest a couple cardio sessions a week while you bulk, tends to keep things pretty clean, when your cutting turn it up to 5,but by that point the diet is going to be doing a lot of the work and your going to be fighting to keep your gains so you have to find the right balance of cardio to lose weight but not muscle.

18%really isnt bad if that is your bodyfat,12 is considered athletic,10 and below is considered elite.honestly though a calculator cant tell you your bf%,your bodys composition is too complicated for there to be a formula, theres frame size, bone density, muscle vs. fat ratio etc..you need to use calipers or even a scale with a bf% reading just to get a ballpark.good luck

Cool. Thanks man. I was browsing the stronglifts forums/FAQs and they suggested doing some cardio right after the lifting, which I think I'll do. I honestly don't know if that is my body fat, cause while I am pretty fat, I have some qualities that my other friends who are as fat as me don't have. For example, I have veins on my arms, biceps, and fists, and I can run a mile in under 10 mins. Nothing to brag about, but my other friends can't do that. I'm also much stronger than them, but eh, who knows.

Thanks again.

By the way, I'm 18, so I'm hoping my age will give me an advantage at losing weight, haha.
