Hey /fit/, I am a skinnyfag and want to bulk up so a month ago I signed up to the gym and started eating right. Right now I weigh 146lbs (started with 140lbs) and my height is 5"7' or 5"8' not sure.

I have a few questions:
1. Which weight should I aim to? assuming my goal is to look something like the guy in the pic
2. When I bench press am I supposed to feel the muscles in my chest? because right now I only feel my arms and shoulders when bench pressing
3. I noticed JUST NOW that stretch marks appeared near both my arm pits. What the shit, is this normal?

Thanks in advance

See here for goals related to your weight, he is probably "advanced" http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/StrengthStandards.html

arms are weak right now, eventually your chest will feel the burn
>3. I noticed JUST NOW that stretch marks appeared near both my arm pits. What the shit, is this normal?
yep its normal for weightlifter to get stretch marks around their arm pits, I have em.

Thanks, but I meant like what weight is my body supposed to weigh eventually to achieve a similar body build like the guy in the pic considering my height, not what weight am I supposed to lift.

Do stretch marks fade away with time? or will they get worse and more noticeable?

really depends on bf and muscle density, just eat right and train hard and you will achieve your goals.
I only noticed mine in the last month or two, they apparently do fade with time. But to truly remove them laser/derm rollers are the only really useful solutions (the oils can't penetrate the skin very well unless treated beforehand with aderm roller)

Not gonna pay for any laser bullshit unless it's really really noticeable and rubbing oils on it seems futile.
Anyway, just having a certain number as a goal keeps you going.

Don't bother. Keep adding weights to your routine until you like what you see in the mirror bulkwise.

Yes. You're doing it wrong. Arnold the govnor had the same problem, he worked around it by benchpressing his arms to failure THEN added weight to work out his chest.

> 3. I noticed JUST NOW that stretch marks appeared near both my arm pits. What the shit, is this normal?

Yes. Same way with fatties who lose weight too quickly. Only way is to lube up and mositurise via drinking enough water and moisturising skin before the routine.

Thanks. Although I'm not too sure how I'll be bench pressing if my arms are already at failure, I feel stupid can you explain?

I think that your problem is your grip distance. The wider apart your grip, the more you target your pectoral muscles.

Okay, my grip is currently shoulder-wide

You gained 6 pounds in a month? Congrats.

I personally go for max weight at 8 reps for 3 sets. It really depends on the body you want. 8-12 reps will make you bigger and more defined, but the strength gains won't be as dramatic. I don't know the exact numbers, but lower reps will supposedly give you greater strength gains and less mass gain.

Arnold Schwarzzenkaffenhausengettothechoppa recommends 8 reps. So I'm currently doing that, then will change my reps before I get HUGE.
