Hai, /fit/

Due to a fucked up articulation, i can't run / jog / brisk walk anymore or it will get even more fucked up and will eventually cause more and more pain.

Until one year ago i was a pretty active guy, walking about 6 miles a day, playing soccer, going to the gym sometimes and shit like that, but since i was told that i should avoid activities that could impact my hip articulation, i don't do them anymore.

I was told by my doctor that swimming is an ideal activity for me because it has very little impact on the articulations.

The thing is that i am 23 years old, 6"3' , i have a mesomorph-ish body type, but i dont have any resistance or whatsoever because i've been VERY inactive lately.

Given my age, do i have any chance of getting into competitive swimming? (not olympic level, but at least regional).

Also, advice and toughts about the whole matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'd need to get my leg cut for that good sir, and i'd rather have it incomplete than not having it at all.

most membership pools will have a league you can join, the one where I used to work would have all sorts of ages joining...

If you are looking into just competitive swimming for motivation, then just look for a local membership pool, or try your regions swim league...

Physically, you should be fine, swimming is low strain, even more so on joints and so forth...

Even if you don't get into a league, you can always look up/make up your own intervals to train and for weight training.

Thanks for the info, kind anon.

By the way, i just came back from the pool, i swam 600 meters in a relatively slow way, taking breaks every 50 meters, is this good enough for a guy who has been inactive for like... one year until now?.

Also, the pain will be unbearable tomorrow ;_;, any tips on how to reduce the delayed onset muscle soreness?
