I had the same problem as you, OP. Do like a thousand crunches or whatever, yet never feel a thing. Finally I read in books somewhere two different approaches to abs.
1. Why treat abs like an aerobic exercise? Seriously, 100+ reps of anything is venturing into aerobic territory. Try some ab exercises with weight and keep the max reps to 20 and less. Or, try new exercises that change the leverage on your abs to make them work harder per rep.
2. Abs aren't meant so much to flex the spinal column as they are meant to stabilize your guts and hold everything in place. Try some nearly static ab exercises, like a Roman Chair situp except you don't sit up. Just lean backward and make slight side-to-side movements.
