Please explain /fit/s loyalty to milk

Im trying to lose weight and the first thing everyone says is cut back on milk - go low fat - skim - or just go water. But when asking for tips on /fit/ about hours of workout time everyone seems to agree that a glass of milk goes a long way no matter what you're doing.

Why is milk bad and good?

how u think cows get so fat
>> Anonymous
just drink 1 glass of skim milk a day, then drink just water besides that and youll lose weight while getting the amount of milk thats healthy for you.

Skim milk tastes the best anyway.

full fat milk tastes the best

Full tilt milk is big time fat -but is it good fat?

Is there a bonus for milk before/after a big workout?

Mammals are meant to be weaned off of milk. There's no reason to continue drinking in into adolescence and adulthood-- especially the milk of entirely different species. It goes again nature.

did you type this and send it over the internet using a tree? anyway, milk drinking cultures had an advantage over other peoples and they adapted to be able to digest milk. also, nothing goes against nature. also, you are an idiot and your argument is empty and pointless.

actually milk is healthy when you drink it in moderation. And it was meant to have people drinking it because we do, and its where many people in the world get the majority of their calcium from.

so STFU>>170966

>>milk drinking cultures had an advantage over other peoples and they adapted to be able to digest milk.

Is that why lactose intolerance and negative reactions in general are so common? Milk is terrible for the skin.

>>also, nothing goes against nature.

Continuing to actively do something despite the obvious, negative impact it has on you? I'd call that going against nature (and a lack of common sense).

I'm not saying you CAN'T drink milk if you want to; I'm just saying that it's unhealthy and illogical to do so.

1 cup of skim milk:
90 calories
9 g protein
30% of your calcium

>Mammals are meant to be weaned off of milk
Oh yeah? Well, we also evolved without eating any grains. If you eat grains, you're a hypocrite.

People were meant to drink breast milk, and only up to a certain point. Unless you buy milk that was pumped out of a woman's breast, you have a non-point here.

Are you trying to claim that cows, goats, horses, and whatever else exist solely for the sake of humans? That's bordering on Creationism, son.

Milk has a lot of good nutrients but at the same time its quite fatty. I mean 1 serving of milk is 1cup and that gives you 120 calories usually, thats more than the calories in cup of soda. Its a mixed blessing really.

Motherfuck, can we not just drink our milk in peace? Is it so hard to do without some pretentious asshole posting about how milk is useless and unhealty? It may be, but you know what? There are so many other unhealthy things that we ingest that I would imagine that milk is the least of our worries. Of course there are going to be people that say that milk is bad for you. My question is why are you so against milk? Its fine that you prefer that it is not healthy and that you dont drink it. Why must you shit on everyone else that loves milk? Say what you want but the fact remains that milk has nutritional value. Protein from milk is so convenient and easy to get. Milk is the building block to many peoples diets. You have to come in here and spout off about how milk is bad for you and then, not only do that, but you have to be some kind of prick that knows it all.
Nah just kidding, I like milk, its good.

Don't try your "meant to" bullshit here.

Are we meant to harvest animals and plants for our personal consumption?

Are we meant to harness electricity and burn fossil fuels to power machines and carry out our daily lives?

Take a fucking philosophy class or something.

In terms of milk, the "not meant to" argument refers to the difficulty our digestive systems have in processing it. It's a biological, not philosophical issue.

We may not be bred for our technological lives either. Sitting in front of a computer all day, driving instead of walking, all of these things lead to increased health problems. We have to supplement with essentially "fake" exercise like running on a treadmill or lifting weights rather than doing manual labor.

Our fast-paced, overworked lives also contribute to stress-related deaths like strokes, heart attacks, and some digestive conditions (which are exacerbated by stress).

So, no, I don't think we were "meant to" do any of those things you listed. Our physical evolution has not kept pace with our societal/technological evolution. I'm not saying it's unworkable, it's just not what we were born for.

Actually, we can't judge what is good or not, because that is too subjective (aka the Naturalistic Fallacy). Even if there's a cancer that appears and kills people instantly if they ever touch their knee with their elbow, we can't define this practice as good or not good. In the long run, it doesn't matter, including us drinking cow milk well into adulthood.

Back to the topic at hand...

>>Please explain /fit/s loyalty to milk

Aside from water, milk is the only other liquid that I will consume a lot of. I'm Asian but I grew up in American culture, and that's what I drank everyday as a kid - milk. I enjoy it, drinking it daily was cultural just like how grand turkey roasts are eaten every Thanksgiving or how women have long hair. Now as a 20 year old, I can't drink as much but I still drink a lot. I go through about a gallon and a half a week.

I drink so much milk a day.

It gives me lots of calories and protein to build strength with.

Studies have shown that milk can aid weight loss.

I don't really agree with majorly reducing one of the macronutrients (c, p f).
