How am I doing? Anonymous
I'm 6'3, 220 pounds, 19 years old. I go to the YMCA every day I can which is about 4 or 5 per week and burn at least 500 calories on the Expresso Fitness machine (picture). I'm trying to lose my pudge. My ideal body weight is 196 pounds. What if anything else should I be doing?

Ideal weight is 196 pounds? Did you pull that number out of a hat? You need to focus on increasing/maintaining lean mass (MUSCLE) and reducing body fat.

What's your body fat %? You could be 6'3 220 and 8% bf. Or you could be 6'3 220 and 25% body fat. Same with 196lbs.

You need to get past the idea that the number on the scale means anything. Set goals based on how you want to look, how strong/athletic you want to be, and how you feel.

You NEED a good diet. Without a good diet, all those hours in the gym are almost worthless.

Also, your body burns the majority of its calories keeping your muscles alive. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. Thus, weightlifting is more important than cardio. It's best to do freeweights like squats, deadlifts, overhead press, etc. since they are mainly complex motions that work out many muscle groups.

Other than that, keep doing what you're doing with cardio and if you can juggle all three you'll be doing quite well in a jiffy.
