Dam, thats mono if I've ever seen it. If your symptoms just hit, expect to be out of it for about two weeks. Your throat is going to get really sore, and you're going to feel really tired. Lots of liquid. Vitamin C isn't going to exactly help you at this point but it may make you feel better and keep your energy up. Fever (if you had it) is going to go away in a few days, but you'll still feel like shit. If you still have a high fever on the second week call your doctor again.
Just curious: Did they catch it as mono right away or did they first misdiagnose it as angina or something, and give you antibiotics?
>>129458 Yes. It is caused by a kind of EB Virus. The test for mono picks up on a type of T-cell that is produced as a reaction to it. It is actually not dissimilar from AIDS. Enjoy your AIDS :) The bacterial growths in the back of the throat are from opportunistic infections.
By the way, if you sometimes get canker sores you will want to keep the back of tour throat really clean the second week and after (alcoholic mouthwash). Receding infection zones in the mouth are a prime target for the sores, and you'll be in a world of hurt for another week if you let them take root.
