goddamn i feel miserable. i haven't had any food in almost a week, and now i really would like nothing more than to have a bowl of chili with some corn chips. that sounds divine... but i can't. five days ago i had laparoscopic gastric band surgery so i can lose weight and get healthy. i've been overweight or obese most of my life. that doesn't mean i don't try to be healthy though. there is a history of obesity and thyroid problems in my family, so i was dealt a bad hand from the start, but i've tried to do my part to control these things that are out of my control. i acknowledge that when i am stressed out, i tend to overeat to cope with the stress, but that is something i've recently learned to deal with through therapy and exercise. i'm currently on thyroid medication. i exercise regularly. i maintained a healthy diet; i've tried the fad diets out of desperation; i've seen nutritionists; nothing helps. and it fucking sucks. i'm only 19 years old.

I haven't but a girl I worked with for 5 years had it the year I started. She lost about 150lb (guess, she was huge and she went down to a normalish weigh for her height for about a year, then the weight started piling back on. 4 years after the surgery she is now almost as fat as she started, and getting fatter FAST.

I'm not certain she had the same exact surgery you had, I think hers involved staples or something, but I would still stress the fact that surgery alone won't solve anything by itself in the long run. You have to have the will to change your life to make it work. Good luck!

I see now why self-control is a virtue; because it is rare.

At least now he'll have the feeling of being full, the real goal of eating anyway, but he'll gain that with substantially less food intake.

Best of luck to you, but it's important that you don't regress, or nothing will change.

You will make it through this.

Remember this.

So do they still do gastric bypass surgery? Where instead of just shrinking the size of the stomach, they like reroute the entire thing so that food doesn't have as much time to digest or something?

Just curious and don't feel like googling.

You fucking gorge yourself on food and you blame this on genetics? Try not being such a fucking glutton and having some self control. I can believe some people would actually need to fucking force themselves to lose weight by screwing with their stomach.

Gorge yourself on wholesome foods. Cheaper than surgery. After awhile you will like it.
