Deadlifts, squat thrusts or burpees, and RUNNING. Cut the faggot jogging shit out, learn to run now when you have the option to stop without immediate consequence. Start to wear boots when you get comfortable at running.

After awhile I will start to sprint, I have only just prepared my leg muscles enough for long distance jogging.

After my legs are thrusting with muscle, I will do long distance sprinting

I didn't say shit about sprinting. There is jogging (which should be used for recovery) and running (which is not sprinting but has more of a stride than jogging). Your legs don't need muscles to be a good runner, especially long distance running. Your heart, your joints, and your stomach are the only factors that matter in running. If you run out of breath your heart is the problem, knee pain and ankle pain come in next, and a lack of calories and dehydration affect more than you would like to believe. This "muscle" shit is irrelevant.

I am not an athlete, so I have taken advice from an athlete to AVOID injury.

I plan to train every muscle in my body, everyday, while at the same time avoiding injury.

The fact is, I go out everyday and jog my heart out, it's not like I dont do any training to do with my legs, is it?

I hate running, and i'd rather build up my legs first, so when I actually start running maybe I'll enjoy it.

Your advice on "learn to run now while you still have an option of stopping" helped me though, so i love u for that. :-)

weight lifting

do it
>> Anonymous
the army isnt demanding

but u sound like u could pull of good results with this routine

Armyfag here. OP start doing some heavy weight training, in addition to the normal endurance work. Nothing has helped me more in rucking than being able to squat and deadlift more than 2x bodyweight.
>> Anonymous
>>366445

OP here, done weight training for years, should i continue to more advanced exercises or work on my weak areas?

I've never really done heavy squat workouts, but i can take your advice and put it to the test. If fact, i will.

different armyfaq here

you should be good unless you go to infantry/ranger/spec ops regular army is easy just crant push up and sittups and run 2 miles in less than 1554 and the army could care less. If your a pog mos that is

>>366465

infantry is my 1st choice

>Fapping

I cant believe the testosteronefags haven't falled for this yet
>> Anonymous

great way to warm up for an intense training session

I was a ranger, i trained for load-bearing by excersizing once a week with a backpack going about 5 miles an hour. started at 8 miles and 20% of my bodyweigth. increased weigth with 10% per week until i reached 45%. then i started adding on the distance i walked with about 2 miles/week until 12.5 miles. Worked for me.

>>366516

I know man
but I also know that testfags RAGE over your PRECIOUS PROTEIN LOSS YOU WILL NEVER BULK UP
>> Anonymous
>>366517

exercising once per week? isn't that a little low?
>> Anonymous
>>366518

who cares about bulking up anyway?

i want to compete at an athletic level not look like some musclefag

i'll fap all i want

feels good man
>> Anonymous
>>366520

In addition to that i jogged 3 times a week and pumped iron 2 times a week to increase upper body strength, especially backstrength. Im not a big guy, but i love running and walking.

First Armyfag here, it depends on how long you have to train before basic, and like>>366465said, it also depends on what job you want to go into. Since you responded with the only correct MOS, I'll give it to you straight up. You want to get as strong as possible, without putting on unnecessary mass, and 4-6 months of weightlifting should be plenty of time for that. Think lean and mean.

Here's how I started training (ie the most inefficient way): Ran everyday, and did push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups, MWF. When I got to basic I did okay, but the rucking is what destroyed me. Eventually got better at it, but shit was still difficult. Anyways, 2 years in is when I started lifting, bodybuilder-style, because I didn't know any better. Put on too much mass, but the added strength was worth it, could carry a full kit a lot easier. The bulk from bodybuilding-style training will fatigue you rather quickly, though.

Here's the way to train that I wish I knew about before joining up: Get as strong as possible first before basic, then cut back to 1/3 lifting volume and start moderate amounts of running everyday 1 or 2 months before BCT begins. Cutting back to 1/3 the load you were doing will allow you to maintain your strength better than cutting it out completely. So if you were doing a 3 day split, cut that down to once a week. When you start running, also start with pushups, situps, etc. I've lurked for a bit, and the people here seem to like the Stronglifts or the Starting Strength programs. Did a 5x5, but both programs have great resources available. There's a SS wiki out there, and SL's website is awesome.

In review, when you can squat a metric fuckton and have decent endurance, a forced march in full kit is no problem.

What does /fit think about this anon? his program sounded pretty solid.

>>366548

best advice i've come across yet

i know i'll have no problem getting into the army, but i don't think i am professional nor better then anyone else, but i want myself to be fully prepared.

"Think lean and mean" will stay with me for a long time

sounds pretty solid to me

Still in? Where you at?

'Nother armyfag here, though not American.

>>366517
>>366548

Do this. I don't know how it is with you guys, but we were issued our boots a few months before we actually joined up, and the best thing I ever did was go walking/running cross-country in those before I got my papers. I didn't lift heavy beforehand but I did a lot of body weight stuff. Pullups are the best thing ever; combine them with deadlifts and you'll have a back that no rucksack can break.
>> Anonymous
>>366648

I'm going to take your advice to the test, and prepare myself with excessive pullups/deadlifts.

Thanks in advance.
>> Anonymous
>>366655
Excessive is never good, but don't wuss out either. Work hard and rest well. Once you can do 15 pullups easily, start adding a weighted backpack.
>> Anonymous
>>366687

Alright, i'll aim for 15-20 on pushup's and pullup's before adding some advanced technique.
>> Anonymous
armyfag here: OP, i wish i trained all those exercises before i joined up, you'll be fine, just don't push yourself

Sounds to me like the Army really do convert people into trained mercenaries...

I could be wrong..

whats wrong? i think it's true, they might not make it seem like they do, but they will slowly turn their civilians into KILLERS.

Slowly? All it takes is 1 shot.

There's more than killing someone else than jsut pulling the trigger...

they force their soldier's t olearn LETHAL martial arts, yet they will probably neverneed to use those arts in conflict

they just want their soldiers to be well-rounded killers.

i like it.

I wouldn't call BJJ a lethal martial art (and yes, that is the assigned system).
