If you're trying to lose weight, try to keep drinking milk to a very minimum, and drink organic skim milk. Get the calcium you need with calcium supplements.

i only have it twice a day, if that. a bowl of cereal in the morning something or nothing at all, and a glass for dinner. win/win situation?

Currently losing weight myself. I love milk, but I've only reduced it to half a cup with my cereal every few days (I try to switch up my breakfast with something else to go with my oatmeal, so my metabolism doesn't get lazy). Have fun though.

OP, a pint of skim milk is a 180 calories and is very good for you. You'll hear people say 'don't drink your calories', but that's only in reference to juices and sodas. Milk is liquid food.

A pint provides you with 23% of your potassium, 16 grams of protein, and 60% of your calcium for the day (and tons of other vitamins/minerals). In 180 calories. Anyone telling you not to drink milk is a nutritional moron.

Just stay away from whole (or even 2%) and try to buy organic (to avoid bovine growth hormones) and you're good.

Up until a year ago I drank almost a half gallon of vitamin D milk, every day. Then I slowed down to maybe a glass a day at the most, and I find myself craving food like I never have in my life, particularly sugary and rich foods. I've gained almost 30 pounds since dropping milk, so I'm going back to drinking a half gallon of whole milk a day and I'm never looking back again.

Maybe you'd react differently but for me, milk evidently suppresses appetite and sugar cravings, and the wholer it is, I'd guess the more pronounced its effect.

everything in moderation. don't go drinking gallons a day, but a glass or two is fine. if you get enough nutrients elsewhere, it might be better to cut down on it more if you're really having trouble with the weight, but otherwise go for it.

personally i don't know how you guys can stand the stuff, just thinking of it makes me gag

/fit/, I'm a girl trying to lose a bit of weight and unfortunately I have a pretty slow metabolism. My entire life I doubt I've been able to eat over 1300 calories a day. However, I drink about 2 cups of skim with every meal. I love milk, but... should I cut back on it? I hate just about every other drink out there except hot tea and coffee and those aren't really that thirst quenching, just comforting.

There was a study which found that women who regularly eat whole milk or other full-fat dairy products gain 15%-30% less weight over a ten year period than women who choose only low-fat dairy products.
