about 3 years ago I was hit in the face with a baseball in the area circled. didn't break my nose, but since then that area sticks out. kind of like the bone was swollen. can anyone explain why this is? hope I explained well enough.

There's no such thing as a nose bone. It's all cartilage. That's why people get that bump on the bridge of the nose when it gets "broken", because cartilage does not heal back into place like bone, it just stays in the shape it was molded usually.

Think of it like this. Cartilage is more like thick playdough, whereas bone is more like biological cement (actually about 10 times stronger than cement and it self-heals, fuck yeah).

Trust me, if you actually broke any of the inner nasal bones like the conchas or any surrounding bones that make up the eye socket, you'd fucking know it.

In short, your nose will be stuck that way for life unless you get cosmetic surgery. I have a bump on the bridge of my nose from faceplanting off a bike when I was like eight. Looks like some Owen Wilson shit, but it gives me character.

oh yes...let me thumb through my lengthy set of notes for my multitude of other cases in which fucktards were hit in the face by some pussy w/a bat...

did you even bother with an xray, medical advice, 25 vicoden w/a fifth of vodka? all those will help this problem go away

/fit/ wont, so you sir FAIL

well, i'm no expert but i'll give my .02 and you can take it with however many grains of salt you'd like

i think perhaps you DID break your nose bone, maybe nothing too serious, a tiny fracture could be enough to start the healing process. when bones heal the body usually overcompensates the reparations and the bone is made larger than it was before.

tl;dr i think the bump on your nose is new bone tissue

oops I thought it was bone since it was so hard. anyways, I never actually broke it. just hit that part, it hurt and bled a little. surgery for that would cost about $4000 or something? guess I'll have to live with it. hope it'll look better when I grow a beard. thanks for the information since it gives me some sense of closure even though I don't like it.
