How much is too much weight to lose in a week? I have heard many different increments but would like to ask the 'fine' 'people' of /fit/.

Will there be sagging skin and what can help prevent it?

Surgery is not an option.

Best is 1lb per week. I've heard of 2lbs per week, but I heard it's tougher on your body. As for sagging skin, do weights, also unless you're morbidly obese you shouldn't have to worry too much about sagging skin.

I'm pushing 4+ lbs a week, does that mean I'm gonna die?
>> Anonymous
Well if you're being supervised by someone, then probably not. If not then maybe you should talk to your doctor.

No one is supervising me and my diet is the same as before I started working out...minus sodas, chips, ect. ect. and much more protein intake.

I pretty much do 1 hour cardio (2 hours on weekends, either HIIT or Kenpo), then the next day around 1 to 1.5 hours of lifting. Repeat to infinity.

OP here. Thanks anon.
I really would love too lose weight but I am so scared of getting the sagging skin and the saggy boobs. My tits are great now and I really hope I don't lose them, as shallow as that sounds.

That's... impressive. Just to cover my ass I'd say talk to your doctor anyway, just so you don't end up hurting yourself in the end.

Diet, stretching, cardio, and weights. Secret recipe ;)

or you could have tape worm

worst case scenario

Heh, yay a tapeworm.

However, I think it's just that prior to starting working out I never really did anything.

Now that I'm doing my routine all out with no excuses, the pounds seem to be flying off and my muscles seem to be enlarging quite a bit (particularly in my legs). A few days ago I found some old jeans from high school (I'm 23) and I actually fit into them perfectly, it blew my mind.

But, yeah, I think I might make that doctors appointment...probably lol.

It can't hurt to get the advice of a professional. But... congratulations! Keep up the good work. I gained about 15lbs since beginning in June 2007, but my bfm went from about 20% to 15%... Sweet!

I've lost 11lbs from my starting weight of 224 in 8 weeks, which is about 1.5lb per week

It depends on your current weight and muscle mass. If you're a ginormous hambeast, even 4 lbs. a week is feasible. If you're around 50 lbs. overweight or less, 2 lbs. a week is doable.

Also: Water weight. That 2 1/2 lbs. on the scale might only be 1 1/4 lbs. of fat (and a little muscle) lost.

What BMI would be ok to lose the 4lbs a week?

Not sure really.
