When a relative of mine broke something in her ankle, she actually starting losing weight. The crutches really work you, you'll be exhausted from them for a while.
Unless you're in a wheelchair, that would suck.

For two month i am going crutches now. the first week it was tough but now its easy like walking...
(i made a handstand with my gypsum - that was kind of scary)
