Don't think so, Tim. It's not that simple. If you starve yourself, your metabolism will slow down, thus decreasing your "Calories Out." Oh and the weight you will lose will mostly be muscle.
Also, the idea that a calorie is a calorie is a calorie is an oversimplification. If you get three people, following the exact same exercise regimen, but one eats 2000 cal of chocolate, another eats 2000 cal of lean chicken breast, and the third eats 2000 cal of pure olive oil, every single day, at the end of the month you will see differences among all three people.
But other than that, spot on.
