so what is more important to /fit/ looking strong or bing strong?

It took me a while, but I eventually figured out being strong is cool. I never liked the idea of having big, showy muscles that weren't capable of doing great feats of strength. While I didn't have any desire to look like a fat, bloated powerlifter, I didn't want to look like a collection of body parts like many of today's pro bodybuilders, either. I'm still a huge fan of the old-school bodybuilders; they trained the right way, and it was reflected in both their strength and their physiques.

I prefer bodybuilding to powerlifting.
I like looking strong.
If I look like a bodybuilder, generally, I will have to lift heavy-ass weights to make my muscles bigger.
I won't be breaking any records at all, no, but benching 315 pounds and looking like Arnold is better to me than just being strong and not looking very impressive.

I guess, I'd look a lot better than the standard guy and be stronger than the average guy, even though I wouldn't really be very strong in the grand scheme of things.

Both. Stop creating dichotomies where they don't exist.

I don't see what the problem is.
Ronnie Coleman is a bodybuilder and not a powerlifter, but he squats/deads 800 pounds and benches close to 500 pounds. Nothing wrong with that. That what I would prefer to being just a powerlifter. Bodybuilder that can lift a lot.

You can't be strong without looking strong.

He was a powerlifter first.
