What's wrong with my knee? Anonymous
So, /fit/, I've been having pain in my knee for about a year know. At first I thought I had just banged it bad or something and didn't do anything other than not putting any stress on it. But it's been causing more frequent problems lately and now I'm getting worried about it.

When I'm standing up straight, it feels fine, but when I bend down past 90 degrees I get this stinging, unbearable pain. And when I crouch all the way down so my legs are completely bent, the pain goes away again. So , basically it hurts when it's bent and has some force on it. This pain occurs at any time of the day, not just after or during my workout. Also, if i keep my leg bent for long periods of time (like when I'm laying or sitting ) it starts to hurt as well. The pain has been pretty much the same for the past year, it get worse for a few days if I do something strenuous though.

I'm a male, 19 years old, 6ft tall, 190-200lbs, I lift 6 times a week (and, no , I don't/can't work my legs) and do some form of cardio about twice a week.

I'm going to see a doc on friday, but I was wondering if anon could tell me anything about my situation right now?

I'd bet you have either a damaged ligament, a subluxed patella, or bursitis. You'll need x-rays and an MRI to determine what's wrong. Honestly, I'd think it's likely just bursitis (which is solved very easily) if you don't know of any initial trauma.

I had a sublixed patella and bursitis that I walked on for 10 months before getting an MRI, ended up having lateral release and debridement surgery. The surgery was 2 years ago and the injury was nearly 3 years ago. Just for the last month or so - the time that I've been working out really hard - has it finally stopped hurting.
Lesson: Don't push too hard until you know what's wrong, and then once your doc (preferrably an osteopath) tells you what's up follow his advice and DON'T STOP PHYSICAL THERAPY. That last part is the only thing I left out and walked with a cane for months. Trust me, the looks you get being a tattooed 25 year old limping on a cane are no fun.

me again. Obviously "sublixed" is meant to be "subluxed"

If you're gonna be a grammarfag. then try subluxated.

Subluxation - present tense. Subluxed - past tense. Try again.

Subluxed is slang. Subluxated is proper.

Yeah. I'm sure my osteopath knee specialist uses slang in his reports.

Don't get me started on doctor's and their writing skillz. Everyone knows what it means, but 'subluxed' is not the proper term. The verb of 'subluxation' is 'to subluxate', not to 'sublux'.

Not here to argue. As a knee-injury-sufferer, I know how much this sucks, especially when you're young and otherwise healthy.

To OP: DO NOT work your knee too hard until you know what's wrong. Also, I'd reccomend at least getting a second opinion (if not a third) after you see your doc, and like I said - see an osteopath, not a gen prac.
