Hey /fit/,

I have access to dumbbells from 1 lb to about 50 (pairs of them, obviously).

I can lift alot of weight on machines in comparison, but when doing curls etc wit free bells, i can only really work with 20 or 25 lbs...

Someone told me this is because of stabilizer muscles. What are some excercises i can do with the dumbells that will allow me to lift heavier weights and actually do effective sets (i do 10 reps per set in general for everything)?

well, i have small arms. Up til this point, i've been a runner and in the last few weeks i've been getting into weights.

Does anyone have any productive criticism?
