EATING CARBS BEFORE SLEEP.

I hear a lot of theories on what would happen if you were to overload on eating before sleep. More specifically, eating carbs before sleep. I hear that the carbs eaten right before you sleep will turn into 100% fat. Is this true? I do feel like I just got fattened when I eat carb packed foods before falling asleep. What does /fit/ have to say about this? I typically try to sleep 3 hours after the late meal.

100%? Hell no. Carbs to fat conversion has been shown to be extremely inefficient, although it happens. Maybe you'll burn off 10-30% of it over the course of the next few hours you're getting into sleep. 30% of the remainder will become fat, and that's only half as many grams of it as you took in since a gram of carbs is 4 cal and a gram of fat is 9. It takes two grams of carbs to make a single gram of fat.

tl;dr don't do it, but it's not going to make you blow up overnight

Ok thanks. It just really does feel like I'm bloated in the mornings when I wake up.

food before sleep is a eurofag myth. total calories > when you eat.
the only study i know of about food & sleep has shown that eating a big breakfast speeds up the metabolism.

Tapering off the carbs during the afternoon is well-accepted everywhere. Way to fail, /fit/. The reason is that the body will preferentially take needed energy from fat stores at night. Sleep is the best time for fat-burning--why fuck with it by adding glucose to your blood-stream just beforehand?

A calorie is not just a calorie. Dieting is not always as simple as Caloric Expediture > Caloric Intake. Also, UNF UNF.

Ok, but why do I feel like shit when I wake up from doing this?

Because having glucose get into your muscles excites them and doesn't give them a good restful repair.
