QUESTION
Is sore muscles = muscle growth? If you train like hell, but arent sore the day after, does that mean that you didnt lift enough?

I did 5x5 yesterday, and i sure as hell had no more energy to spend afterwards, was completely fucked in both arms , but don't feel shit of it today. was the training wasted?
>> Redhot !wJoMC4BYEY
Well yes and no.
If you train the same way week in and week out the muscle will not be "shocked" and thus can just repair itself as it knows how and has coped with the exercise you've done.
However if you train and lift shit heavy even this should tear up your muscles.

Eitherway its good to change around the routines you use to exercise each muscles every few weeks or so. Even if you just change the order you do the muscle exercises in.

Some times I don't get sore until the second day after training.

Muscle soreness the day after is not an indication of a good/bad workout, and enough/not enough muscle restitution.

I read it in a test long time ago so I don't remember exactly why. But Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is the term so you can look it up.

who said being sore was a fucking problem? the problem is NOT GETTING SORE
>> Anonymous
Just to clarify stuff,
If you didnt get sore the next day it means the workout isnt enough?
but it could also be because of DOMS (i dont think theres alot of people who does has it)

I was BP yesterday and did my max 145-150 7 times after that im struggling to lesser weights and just did
110 3x
I woke up and felt like nothing happened (i have some
minor sores)

Truth.

Not being sore does not mean you did not lift enough. I almost never get sore after workouts. The other night I did front squats 4x3, deadlift 5x3, front squats 4x3. All heavy (80-90% of max). Was not sore the next day. Did I not work out enough?!

maybe, i remember i did 1-11 ring pull up ladder and 1-11 ring dips ladder and my upper body was pretty much useless the next 2 days.

contrast showers did nothing, took one for 30 minutes (20 minutes hot, 10 minutes cold) and it didn't help at all. i figured if i didn't take so much omega-3 i would've been doing ibuprofen to ease the inflammation

all sore muscles= is micro tears in the muscle fiber. with that tear the muscle will get bigger because of scar tissue but it does not mean there will me an increase in strength.
you can still get an increase in muscle size and never feel that soreness. and it will probably be a better gain because it will mostly be strength.

doinitwrong

Also, soreness is not an indicator of muscle growth. It's just the muscle getting used to repairing itself.

When you train your muscles they break down, and after the workout and aprx 48h after they build up again, if you get sore it means they are building up to be stronger.
If you dont feel anything, you have basically just "used" your muscles and broken them down, but not "stressed"/pushed them enought to re-build stronger. You are basically the same as before that workout, and you are just maintaining your strenght/shape.

If you do the same excersizes week after week, with about the same weights and after a while you dont feel any soreness its becuase the body has gotten used to the work.
You need to ALWAYS stress your muscles in new ways; new excersies, dropset, superset ,forced sets, negative sets, high rep or low rep, explosive movments and even angles need to be mixed up.
ALWAYS do diffrent stuff each time at the gym, i cant stress that enough.

Your body is smart and lazy, it will adapt very fast.
You can be training for years doing the same stuff over and over, nothing will happen unless you mix it up.

Even if you do stuff like squatz, deadlifts or benchpress with really heavy whieghts witch are very good exercises it doesnt matter. Go to the gym and really push your body to the limit and beyond. Always do as many reps you can on your wheight, dont just settle for 6-8 if you can do 2 more. And even after that, do some dropsets to really squeeze out the last bit of power

it was segmented. 4-5 minutes hot, 2-3 minutes cold. not 20 minutes straight of hot that's just retarded.

Erm, ONLY push yourself on Bench and Squatz if you have a spotter. Well if you using max weight of course.

your muscles dont have to be sore after every workout to expect gains. as long as you are increasing the weight you lift every time you workout then youre fine.

dont listen to these fucking fat fucks who dont know shit about muscle gain because they are always sore you know why? cause they're fucking fat as fuck and out of shape.
YOU GOT TA B SORE WHEN DOIN DEM CURLZ, BRAH OR U AINT DOIN DEM RITE
