Mixing Weightlifitng With Cardio Circuits Anonymous
Doesn anyone have a favorite method for getting their heavy lifting and cardio done in the same week? I usually do my heavy lifting in the early morning, and it usually takes 48+ hours for the soreness to go away. While my muscles are sore, will it slow down my growth and recovery if I do a 30-40 minutes bodyweight cardio routine? (the bodyweight routing is pistols, pushups, pullups, squat thrusts, etc). I usually prefer to do the bodyweight stuff in the afternoon or evening. What is the most efficient way to blend these two?

I just alternate between the two, like so:

Day 1: Weight Lifting
Day 2: Cardio
Day 3: Rest

Repeat that cycle. It gives your body two days rest between each workout type, which is enough time for your muscles to recover.

same day:

30 min of weights // single set per muscle grp.
30 min of exercise bike // 20 min, med tension

I like the CrossFit method of mixing cardio and weightlifting. Some of the workouts are only-bodyweight movements (more cardio-based), a mix of weight lifting and bodyweight (strength/cardio), or just heavy lifting (strength).
