are pushups any indication as to how much you can bench? I can 60 and I'm not fat, so should I be able to lift my own weight at least? I'm 5'10 and 170 lb. I'm curious, but not curious enough to actually go find a bench and try it out myself.

you definitely won't be able to bench that much at first. doing a bench press requires some stabilization that you don't get from doing pushups.

also doing 60 pushups you won't be training your fast twitch muscles as much which would be needed for higher weights

Depends on how fast you do the push ups.

moderate speed? doesn't take more than a minute.

push ups are around 2/3 of your weight
so you may be able to lift that

Try doing clapping pushups, those are just much better than regular pushups in every way possible.

The first time you try to do a bench press, I bet you won't even be able to lift 100 lbs. It just takes a while to get used to the movement. But the weight you can lift will increase much faster than someone who has never done pushups for instance.

usually people with a very high percentage bench press (to their own weight that is) can do a high number of pushups.

if your not fucking around, because this is still 4chan, and can do 60 pushups nonstop you should probably stop doing those altogether and move on to free weights, as your endurance is already top-notch
