'Sup /fit/

I have a problem: I'm weak as water. Now most of the people on here are at least somewhat familiar with exercise; they may be realtive novices with a cursory knowledge of keeping fit, or hardened pros who know everything about staying in shape.

I however have no clue. I've never exercised in my life, I get out of breath running up stairs, my breathing gets tight if I move too much, I have no stamina, and I always feel tired and weak. On the plus side I'm not fat.

Now I know basically what to do: there's sit-ups and press-ups and running and skipping etc., but I'm not even strong enough to do those. I can't go to a gym because I'm too weak to even make a start at any weighlifting or rowing.

This may sound stupid, but how do I gain enough muscle to be able to start gaining muscle? How do I get fit enough to be able to even start a fitness regime?

Pic sadly quite related.

Get in a pool of jello and flail around until all your muscles are sore. Wait a few days. Repeat.

Er no. I need real advice.

Get a pair of decent running shoes. Start out walking and work your way up to running. Do pushups, bicycle crunches (or crunches if you can't do bicycle crunches yet), and maybe some yoga for flexibility.

One word

Kettlebell

I suppose I could do that. However a uear ago I broke my wrist and it never fully healed. It clicks if I bend it too much and makes push-ups very difficult. I tried to do the ones with your fist clenches so I didn;'t have to bend my wrist but that just hurt my fingers.

Kettlebells are a horrible idea. Too much potential for injury if you aren't an expert at the proper form.

Some of those links were pretty good. Thanks anonymous.

I LOVE THESE! Actually, if you have a Target or Dicks store nearby, you can get GoFit's DVD with Sarah Lurie and have a DVD to work out with, I know /fit/ lol@me, but its freaking good for a beginner. Assuming you are a guy and extra weak, start with a 15 pounder, if you are normal, 25, already fit, 35.

lol, yes get proper form for a kettlebell first, then pick one up. In other words, learn to ride a bike before you ever get on one, then you won't hurt yourself.

I've seen those at Target, though I've only seen 20lbs ones and everywhere else they are expensive as hell, $60+

What I have found is that you are looking at 2 dollars a pound or maybe a little more. I get mine at Play-it-Again Sports, but I am not sure if they are national or not. They get new ones it that are no-frills.
