What is the deal with stevia? Is it really no calories, and will it not give me cancer/whatever like splenda? How does it taste, is it even worth the money? Any info at all on this stuff would be appreciated!

Damn.

No artificial sweeteners will give you cancer. That is a myth.

Is it really calorie free then? I've heard a lot of things about how splenda really isn't. Are there any other possible health concerns?

Lots of trials, particularly for saccharin and aspartame, disagree with you. The evidence is not conclusive, but these are also relatively new products with a limited base of data on which to base any conclusions.

There are plenty of examples in history of products that were reasonably believed to be safe until much later major health issues were discovered. It just doesn't make sense in my opinion to risk it over foul-tasting sugar substitutes when you can just eat real sugar (which is completely harmless) and do a couple extra situps.

People are lazy, that's why. I really don't mind doing them, but I'd rather not do them if I didn't have to.

There are a couple studies I've seen that show people who drink diet drinks end up gaining more/losing less then people who drink normal soda/whatever

It's correlation, not causation. See... they are too lazy to cut out soda so they get diet. Lazy. If they can't do something that easy then they sure as hell aren't going to have any success in any other change.
