Hello.

Some stuff happened over the course of a year and my body went from the one pictured to...simply put, add a bit to the love handles, the flab on the arms, and a bit to the gut.

Before all that happened, the shown picture was a progress pic since I was starting to run, do about 30 minutes of stretching before about an hour's of exercise every day I have time (roughly every other day) along with some weight lifting.

Turns out I was doing shit wrong.

Basically I want to start my way to return to the shown pic and eventually work back to my original goal. However, I would like to do things right this time.

I'm asking for some advice, places I can dig up my own information, etc.

My goals:
Slim down the love handles, lose the beer gut thing I have going on, and build muscle on both my arms and legs.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Really supportive; I commend you. Disrespecting the man as he attempts to seek help to better himself is not only awesome(you won 5 internets, btw), but fucking incredible for the human race.

Fucking failure at life.

Back to OP's question(s):

Check out bodybuilding.com and T-nation(testosterone nation) for some helpful articles concerning fat loss and muscle growth. Secondly, one cannot spot reduce; it is impossible. You can build muscle in certain areas, but you cannot lose fat in 'certain' areas. Fat is depleted from all over the body; one section doesn't look 'thin' and the other 'fat'. Body mechanics don't necessarily work that way.

Thirdly, try checking out stronglifts.com or starting strength by Rippletoes. Hope I helped you out.

Hum, did not know losing fat worked that way. So it's losing it all over or nowhere at all? It'll be handy to remember.

Thanks for the links, I'll make sure to look into them.

Pretty much, yes. You may see certain areas on your body exposed much more, making you believe that you lost more fat in that area, but that's not the case at all. It just means that if your calf muscle was covered by one pound of fat and your stomach is covered by 20 lbs of fat and you lose about 15 lbs overall, you'll see your calf muscle peak out from beneath a very thin layer of fat. It just means that area is shown more because of the fat distribution. It doesn't necessarily mean that you worked your calf muscle harder than your stomach or there's something amiss with your body. That incident is what occurs with most people when they lose fat. It's a common misnomer due to misinformation or lack thereof.

I'll chalk it up to goodluck nobody recognizes me or that tattoo of mine.

Ah, forgot to ask. Outside of just fading in time, anything I can do to help with the stretchmarks on my lower back? Those were from a foot growth spurt I had.

Asked some previously pregnant women and witamen E lotion seems to slightly help it along. Any other tips?
