Hi /fit/, I was wondering how do girls stay so damn thin because I know not everyone of them has the same genes? I run everyday for 40 mins at a 10 min mile pace and I also add a 15 minute ab routine and squating routine. Do these girls spend like 2 hours in the gym? Can anyone tell me a better workout regime to lose body fat so I can fit into smaller jeans? My diet is really good 1,200 calories but my body just doesnt want to give up anything. I Have been struggling to lose about 5 lbs for a month and I have lost nothing sometimes I gain a lb and then lose it. Should I do 60 mins of running maybe at a slow pace? Thanks guys for your time.

I dont binge and I dont eat BK or any fast food and I never cook with oil. I only drink water.For my diet, I have a serving of oatmeal and a small container of yogurt for breakfast, for lunch two slcies of low calorie bread with a bocca burger and green beans or salad no butter or dressing, and for dinner I have poached fish or baked chicken that isn't fatty and a salad. Also, for a snack I have plain nonfat yogurt and it is a serving I measure it out. IT IS so frustrating...

I aim for higher protein in yogurt,meat, or soy products and less carbs, I do not eat pizza, take out, fast food, or any meals that are higher than 300calories. So I guess no matter what I do lol I am stuck.. Damnit guess I can thank my parents...

That's your problem right there. You're not eating enough, hence your metabolism has gone to shit. Since your metabolism is slow, you'll have to eat progressively less and less to avoid putting on body fat.

So, start eating more. Space your meals out throughout the day, and start a weight training routine along with cardio. It'll take a couple of months for your metabolism to adjust, but it'll eventually work.

This is the correct answer. Google for the specifics or lurk moar. If I hear a single god-damned excuse, I'll know that you don't want it this badly and will simply fizzle out and fail.

Don't justify anything to me, at all. This is the answer, do what you have to do or simply don't. Win or fail, the choice is yours.

I'm a vegetarian and eat raw foods. I don't do it for the weight loss, more for the morals behind it. Remember to always take your vitamins because you won't get as much protein as a meateatter.

(I weigh 90 lbs btw--yeah, I know way too skinny)

Ok thank you I was researching it but cant find much info for women. But, if A woman should have 2000 calories a day that means I should be getting 1500 calories in order to lose a lb? And should I increase my minutes of cardio during this time because of the diet change? Sorry for making thread longer.

40 mins a day is too little.

It's a simple matter of calotries in vs calories out. Calculate your diet and exercise such that you have a daily deficit of 500 calories (optimal amount for losing a decent amount of fat and not losing too much to cause all sorts of problems).

Then make sure you do lose 500 calories every day.

This will result in a loss of approximately 1kg or 2.2 pounds every week. That's almost 10 pounds a month.

If you want to lose more, you can try jogging more, you may be able to take it up to 700-1000 calories deficit, BUT only if you do full-body weights workouts, in order to not lose muscle mass.

I was in the same boat as you.. I burned too many calories and didnt eat enough.. 1500 calories is for fucking office workers.. you run 40 mins and do other exercise.. your body is storing the fat as energy because it thinks its starving a bit.

EAT MORE. I eat a big breakfast because my body didint eat for 7-8 hours while I slept and then i eat EVERY 2 HOURS, even if its a couple of slices of cheese or a small yogurt cup or an apple or a handful of almonds.. it keeps your stomach and metabolism going.

Also when I go to bed I eat a cup of cottage cheese... the protein helps my muscles recover while I sleep but also while I sleep my body is still working on the cottage cheese so my metabolism stop to a halt in my sleep... gotta keep it going.. if you have to jump start it at breakfast it sucks cock.

There are people who are thin just because of good genes and good metabolism. I am 170 cm, weigh 50 kg and I never work out (exept for PE class, which isn't what I would call a hard workout). I eat reasonably healty, but I still eat lots of chocolate and candy. I never eat fastfood, though, and my meals are mostly composed of natural ingredients. It's not a diet at all, it's just normal food. But I guess most americans eat a lot more processed food than europeans.

hey OP, did you ever question the idiocy of steady state cardio? (ie. long distance?) its far from the optimal, and encourages, through the large amount of stress hormone (cortisol) to preserve body fat and burn muscle (ie, crush metabolism).

yes, FAT is the primary metabolic substrate used to fuel aerobic work, but as the body must maintain homeostasis, fat would then be the 1st thing the body wants to store following training, much like it wants to build muscle following weights (due to muscle protein degradiation)

tl dr. train weights, HIIT, diet, yoga, and then occassionally do tradition cardio for fitness

It is not a question. It is an exhortation.

There's 3 of ways to be a thin girl. I'll list them in order of ease:

1. Good genes.
2. Eating disorder.
3. Smart, vigilant nutrition and training.

Numbers 1 and 2 are only temporary. Eventually your metabolism will slow down and all your bad habits will catch up with you and be that harder to unlearn. An eating disorder will eventually either kill your metabolism and make you fat, or it will just kill you.

These are tough concepts for a young person to appreciate because they can't see the long view. They think they'll live forever and that if something that keeps them thin (drugs, smoking, eating disorder) isn't killing them right now, then it never will.

In a way, the person who grows up fat is at an advantage, because they grow up knowing they have to fight for every pound and every inch lost. My ex drank like a fish, smoked like a chimney, lived on Taco Bell, and was moderately active, yet she had a fantastic body. But when she hits 30, she'll probably look (and feel) like hell and have no idea how to get her old body back.

tl;dr Girls should adopt a moderately healthy diet they can learn to love and pick up a physically demanding hobby that does not feel like a chore. Dancing, yoga, and outdoor activities are all a good start. Wouldn't most girls like to look like a professional dancer or a yoga instructor?

You have 2 problems:

1) You are sneaking calories. You don't think so, but you are.
2) 4 miles just isn't very much. It's about 400 calories for a girl @ 140 lbs. How Often doi you do it? 30 miles a week is my magic number that is about 4000 calories.

You should run at intervals, hard sprint for 8secs, rest for 15 secs (jog) do this every so often through your mile run. I eat eggs in the morning since i started doing that i read that a shitload of olympians do this. And a study said that two groups of ppl, the ones having eggs in the morning lost >20% more.
