Run anyway. On a tre4admill it's cushioned, and a decent pair of shoes will take away most of it. Just don't run very long - do a week of one minute, walk four, repeat ten times. Then a week of run 1.3, etc, iun addition to a regular workout. Jog at 9km an hour for ten minutes.
It'll burn the weight and allow you to get some cardio.
