My advice, that is working for me, go outside and run. Take it slow at first if you have to. If you're embarrassed about people seeing you, do it at 3am. Do that and as many situps/crunches as you can.
Next I would invest in either a chinup bar or weight-lifting setup. Get into the routine of working your chest/arms till they're sore and then just run outside till your legs, most likely knees, hurt.
