hey /g/ I have begun lifting as of late(well more than I did before, did weights but got to the bench and free weights). At dinner that night I realized I dont eat that much protien and dont really know what is "good" protein beyond red meat.

tl;dr version: What is good foods to eat in conjunction with weights?

Poultry, seafood, red meat, milk, nuts, cheese, and beans have some good protein. The "clean" ones are chicken, egg whites, and tuna if you are concerned about fat content. Also, consider protein powder if you think your diet won't give you quite enough.

I'd bet almost anything you're already getting enough protein. Your body doesn't really need very much at all (0.7-1.2g per kg of bodyweight, might be as high as 1.7 if you're an athlete). Virtually everyone gets enough from diet, unless something is physically wrong with them. You can only gain about 5-10 pounds of lean muscle mass a year anyways, and everything that's unused gets stored as fat anyways.

To maximize benefit, have about 10-15g of protein within 20 mins of completing your workout. While powders are an acceptable source, and usually the most convenient, it's generally better to get it from natural products. The sources>>71242mentioned are good though, so I don't really have much to add to that.
