Hey there /fit/ im a first time poster here, and well, i just need some help. SO I guess this is the place.

Im not in shape, but im not really fat. Just mostly flabby, and well i want to get in shape obviously. But i hate going to gyms, dont ask why, i just feel horribly uncomfortable there, and hate going.

So what would be a good way to get in shape at home, or something? I dont have any weights or anything, but i try to do at least 50 push ups per night. Is this enough? And what other types of exercises like that can i do to get into shape without a gym?

Thanks

Ive always wondered about that, how helpful is running? I mean, whats a good distance to run to get good results?

But keep in mind, i mostly want to work off upper body fat and what not, does a lot of cardio help with that?

nothin? Geesh, this place isnt to helpful...

No such thing as spot reduction.

If you want results, do cardio. There's no more to be said.

You need between 30 and 60 minutes of it every day, except one day, a week. Doesn't necessarily matter how much, just as long as you at least jog.

the answer is easy, but the work is not

eat less bad foods, eat more good foods
exercise more

don't eat late at night (digestion slows down during sleep)
don't eat a few huge meals - just eat several smaller meals throughout the day.
snack healthy (meaning buy every special k product you see)
don't try to wear yourself out - jog at a comfortable pace so that you can go for 30 - 60 minutes and not faint. sprinting won't help you get thin any quicker.
even if you can't actually exercise, just be active - take stairs, not the elevator, ride your bike instead of driving, or just walk somewhere. little steps add up.

hope this helps.

Gyme? Whats a gyme?

Well, if you want to lift at home for cheap and don't mind getting a little dirty, I suggest sandbags. You can easily do squats and deadlifts with these. With a quick mod, you can make handles to do curls, tricep exercises, rows and lunges.

Get over yourself, man up and join a bloody gym already. Nobody cares how flabby your are, they likely were fatter then you anyways.

You forget, everyone else had to start at the bottom as well, they didn't wake up that way. Even if you can't bench as much as them, you still get credit for showing up and trying.

firstly, make sure that you are doing your pushups with proper form
secondly, get a chin up bar and 2 bars to do dips on, this is really all you need
