WEAK ASS GRIP Anonymous
Dear /fit/,

I have ganglion cysts (not huge like that one, but small ones that aren't visible ) and consequently it's causing trouble for me.

I can't do pushups normally (wrist bent) because my wrists start to give out after maybe 8 pushups (I can't do them on my fists either, same thing happens, but maybe 14 pushups in instead). I bought the Perfect Pushup thing and that relieves a lot of the pain and allows me to do pushups.

Now that I've given you the skinny, here's my Q: Lately I've been noticing my grip is getting weaker and it's been slipping when I'm holding weights 30lbs or higher. My doctor says my grip can't be strengthened and that physically I'm not built to life heavy weights (I don't want to bench like 300 fucking lbs though) - my personal trainer thinks he's full of shit but says I should go easy on my wrists >_>

Is there some sort of exercise that I can do to strengthen my grip? muscles in forearm? stress ball thingy?

oh fuck i've had one of these maybe. in my left wrist. It's not all that much of a problem.

Because of this bent wrist pushups have always hurt. I can do them no problem, but it hurts the wrist. I guess i do have one of these cyst things. Been there for like 6 years.

Anyways OP stop trying to hurt yourself and do pushups on the knuckle on carpet. Man it up faggot.

Your doctor is a moron, like most academics.
Two things that will improve grip strength:

-Deadlifts
-Those grip ball thingies.
And what anon posted above, they work fine.

I would man up, but unfortunately they riddle in the insides of my wrists on both hands and when I do pushups normally, i don't quit because they hurt, my body quits because my wrists physically give out and i drop on my face. Suffice to say, pushups aren't the best thing for them - I can bench and all of that, it's pushups give me the most trouble.

thanks, i'll buy some of those

yeah, when I was at my physical peak he looked at my bmi and told me i was "fat", when that was far from the truth. he also told a skinny friend of mine he was "fat" because of his slightly above fit bmi.

how bout wrist bandages for stabilization?
Why not drop pushups? Bench instead.

"One traditional method of treating a ganglion tumor was to strike the lump with a large, heavy book, causing the cyst to rupture and drain into the surrounding tissues. Since even the poorest households often possessed a bible (referring to the overly large family bibles), this was commonly used"

you have a p/t and you can't even lift, wtf?

It causes mostly during compression, which is why benching is considerably easier than pushups where you're putting weight on a bent wrist. It still gives me a tad bit of trouble when benching/lifting. If I didn't have them my grip would be a bit better.

just one of those grip doohickeys regularly and you'll be fine

take the money you spend on a trainer and get that shit taken care of.
