Hey /fit/

Just a little question. I know there are different types of bodies (to put it simply, large and small frames) but is there a limit to how slim somebody can get?

For example, can one of those women who weight 500lbs ever get down to a size 4/6? Or will she only ever get down to a 14/16?

I ask because I see a lot of these dieting articles where women who were once huge, have lost weight and only managed to get down to a size that is still reasonably large compared to the average.

Basically, is there a limit to how slim somebody can get depending on their body structure, or can you lose as much weight as you want, assuming you're willing to put the effort in?

Of course you can lose whatever amount of weight. Problem is, 500lb women always seem to stop about 40lbs short of a weight they would look good at. Since they're going to need the excess skin removed anyway they may as well cut all the way down to a BMI of 20 before they get any surgery. Most just give up when they reach a certain point. I'm a guy and I gave up after I thought I had lost enough weight. Three years later I decided to chase down those last 10lbs, and managed to do it in less than a month. Wish I had done it earlier.

Well done. It's really good to hear that. Congratulations!

I was just wondering because like I said, these women who write into these mags after losing two hundred pounds or whatever, are still on the big side.

If I was planning to lose that much weight, I wouldn't show off until I had reached the stage I wanted to. Although I suppose these women might have a different goal.

Their goal is to be under a BMI of 25, to be in the "healthy" weight range. Problem is, a BMI of 24 for a chick doesn't look all that good. If she's got a pretty face, maybe, but nobody's looking at her for her body. But considering they are usually on some long term crash diet, you'd think they'd have the foresight to continue with it for a couple more months to get a BMI of 20, just to be on the safe side considering they'll probably change their diet to "maintain" their weight and end up falling into their old habits.

Yeah but then again, I think people who get to that size can sometimes focus too much on losing weight and being "attractive" rather than changing their eating habits and becoming healthier.

if you're a woman, being skinny equates to being healthy (in terms of appearances)

if you're a guy, being healthy, fit and skinny equates to being a HIV+ faggot.

Those women should be thankful that keeping a low BF% is all that is expected of them by society to qualify as having a "good body"
