Hey /fit/

How does one become a boxer?

I'm 19yo and I'm interested in punching bags and sparring but I don't know how to get started.

also, Is it too late? I've always been athletic and I'm in great shape so I'm not at square one really but is it too late to start a new sport?

Too late?

It's too late if you want to become a world champion, but it's not late at all if you just want to train/sparr and do some amateur fights.

just start hitting people you know in the face. You'll become a good fighter or die trying.

How do you become a boxer? You go to a boxing gym, pay them munny, they teach you how to box. Simple, eh?

And no, it's not too late. Like the other guy said, you probably won't become a world champion in the 10-15 years or whatever that you've got since a good portion of them will be spent training and in amateur boxing, but you certainly have time to get pretty damn good and probably even box professionally.

I know he isn't a boxer, but Bas Rutten started training when he was 21 and later went on to become the heavyweight UFC champion.
