Well shit. I've been squatting with shit form for a long time. Image isn't me and I don't extend that shit out in front of me, but his range of motion is pretty much what I've been doing. I really want to go ass to grass or even 90 degrees, but no matter how I try it, I can't seem to get to proper form unless I go up on my toes as I come down and initially rise up.Is the toe rise method acceptable or will it kill me somehow? Does /fit/ have any tips for me in way of achieving proper squatting form?
One method that really helped me get off my toes was thinking about raising my butt in the air. Your goal is to bring your butt up. The rest will follow. That helped me anyway.
>>475779I find that this just causes me to stay at above 90 degrees and pretty much insists on a clamshell collapse with my shoulders/barbell leaning forward over my knees.
Practice proper form with low weight until you get it right. Then work your way back up.Start from scratch.
Hip flexors, hamstrings, and inner thighs. Loosen them up, check out relax into stretching. Do wall squats (squat as far as possible while having your toes a few inches from the wall).
don't take your heels off the floor. rising up on your toes you go up is going to put pressure on your knees and kill your hip flexors when you get to heavier weights.learn to squatz properly now. if you're not flexible enough to go down pass parallel, you need to stop squatzing until you can
