Alternative Punching Bags Anonymous
I live in an apartment, so not only am I not aloud to hang a punching bag from my roof, but the roof is steel rebar and brick about 5 inches in.

So, I'm wundering if anyone has some suggestions for alternative punching bags.

My focus is to compact my fists' bones and get them harder, as well as getting used to a decent punching form.

td;dr: Non-Cieling punching bags with lots of weight and a good fabric on the outside to toughen my hands up.

Bruce Lee's Fighting Method: Basic Training has some instructions on how to build punching targets. They are two pieces of canvas filled with saw dust, sand,or gravel. I can't find a pic but they look about one and a half feet square and hang on a wall.

If you try using a punching bag without gloves your knucles will be fucked. The skin is gona come off like tissue paper.

I specifically need it to not hang off of a wall or cieling, can it simply be laid against the wall?

I thought that was just because my hands were bitchy.
How would you suggest I get my nuckles harder and my skin tougher so I don't end up doing the hollywood nerd punch thing? [Punch, step back, say AHH and flick rist up and down]

Does whatever>>478208said work better than a bpunching bag in this instance?

If I'm going about this all wrong, different suggestions are welcome.

Do what Steven Segal did.
Plant a Wooden plank outside into the ground, weave a rope around it firmly and tightly.
Punch against it until you can rip it out of the earth.

Then you can go and beat the badguys Bro

Buy a punching bag that you fill with sand or water and sits on the ground.

COOL!

too bad this thread was made because I live in an aprtment, making it kinda hard to plant a wooden plank into the earth.
maybe I can tie some rope to some other big bulky object and make my own home made punching bag.

well there is basically no way of making something heavy enough without having to hang it unto the wall of ceiling, since if you let it stand on it's own, it will crash down no matter what.

what if I just put a punching back in the corner of my room

I'm going to checkout that bruce lee shit and see if it's applicable

I suppose that could work if your neighbors are cool with the thumps against the wall.

you should put something heavy infront of it though, so it won't slip down.

Try one of these, you can find them at any large sporting good's store. If I remember correctly they cost around $100-$150.
