I know it's been said that machines aren't nearly as beneficial as free weights, but are they all that bad?

Someone is willing to sell me this weight machine for $25. Is it worth it? Or should I skip it and stick to free weights?

Typo? Put it this way, if you try it out and the weights are too light and you can do over 10 reps, then dont buy it. Free weights, barbell & bench are all you should need.

Not a typo. My dad called me saying one of his customers had this machine with a sign reading "$25 weight machine" on it.

If it's a typo, then it's his customer's fault.

No, not even for 5$

Well if its for $25 its clearly shit and the owner wants it gone so he/she doesnt have it taking up space. These things, like most crap equipment are made for weak women assuming 10 mins of this a day will get flat abs.

Dont buy it, stick to free weights.

Apparently she just wants to get rid of everything in her new house (she just moved here from Florida).

Even if it's crap, wouldn't it be useful for back exercises (like lat pulls)? Can't really use free weights for that kind of exercise.

Do pull-ups instead of lat pulldowns. That way, your body is the free weight. If pull-ups are too easy, get a belt and chain some plates to it.

if you have room and are going to use it more than you will free weights for whatever reason then get it. don't listen to these fuckers

Fucking peck-deck machine.

Can't vouche for that machine but I'd get it anyways if its only 25$. Even if you tried it and didn't like it nor saw any results you could certainly craigslist it and make back that cash and more. Ignore that if you don't have the space for it though.

machines are a waste of money mainly... doesn't mean they are bad

It takes up too much space. Unless you have lots of room I wouldn't go for it.
