Pull Ups? Anonymous
I started a lifting schedule in June but i cant do a pull up unless on the assisted machine at my gym, is there any way to improve on them?

Yes, continued working on the assisted machine, do bicep curls, do lat pull downs, do bench presses. Pull ups involve your shoulders, biceps, chest, and to some extent the triceps and even forearms. You need to work your strength out among those muscle groups to do pull-ups. Also, don't neglect the upper back. Furthermore, it's hard to do pull-ups if you weight a lot but don't have incredible strength. Most of the guys who set pull-up records are of a very low body weight.

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago when training for the Army. I couldn't do a single pull-up four months before shipping out, but I was hitting 10 in a row before I shipped out and hitting 25 in a row after boot camp. Just keep trying.
