Fighting Preparation KIMBO
Hi /fit/, i recently became involved in a fight but lost and would like to get sweet revenge. however im not in the best of shape both strength wise as well as endurance wise. and therefore would like to receive some advice in what a)foods to eat and b)what exercises to perform to efficiently get into fighting form. please post meaningful suggestions. ty

Ok this is stupid, but I guess I'll try to help. How old are you? If it's a matter of self defense, you should resort to dirty fighting.

Are you doing this just to look cool or what? I really think you are an idiot for trying to get your ass kicked twice. How big is the guy you want to fight? Contrary to popular opinion, fighting guys bigger than you is difficult, even if you are quicker, more in shape, or a better fighter. A big slow punch that hits your head will hurt regardless of how much fucking training he's had. (If he's had training, it will just hurt more!)

My best recommendation is for you to enroll in a local boxing class. Maybe they'll teach you some self-respect and you won't feel like you need to justify your existence in some street fight to impress your friends or yourself. At the very least, you'll get in better condition and learn how to fight.

You have the right idea. If you REALLY want to challenge him and win, then get to training. Either enroll in a martial arts school or a boxing gym.

Martial arts will teach you how to end fights though. You will learn how to really hurt people. So, I suggest just learning how to box.

I just hope you stay honorable and fight fair when the time comes. Your pride may be wounded now, but if you fight dirty, it is forever damaged.

So, to answer your questions:

a) Average diet answer: Cut out as much processed foods as you can...especially foods with added sugar or fake sugar(marketed as Diet). Do not drink any other beverages besides water on a regular basis. But, always have a cheat food that you eat/drink occasionally so that you dont go crazy. (mine are beer/booze on the weekends)

b) As you can tell from your loss in the fight, you need endurance. Start running. Also work on your strength. Pullups, pushups, crunches, and dips are great home exercises. But if you train in an art, the exercises will be part of the training.

bottom line: to become skilled at fighting, you have to fight. So in essence, you are that much better of a fighter now after your loss. You know more of what to expect/do for the next time.

Martial Arts are useless unless you're a fucking expert. Any newfag who has tried to use martial arts in a real world fight has failed miserably, because once the adrenaline of an encounter kicks in, technique flies out the window.

To win a non-martial arts fight, you have to fight smarter not stronger, although stronger can help. Testicals, kidneys, throat, heel and hamstring are all great places to start. The nose is a great, lots of blood and pain, but it is a small target and heads move out of the way fast. Also, weapons are good but can escalate in bad ways.

To improve for martial arts, be prepared to spend quite possibly years to get good - 6 months to just hold your head high in the gym/dojo/arena. Even the most low-rent martial arts place will have excellent training and nutrition tips for their discipline.

First, your angst motivates you to find a gym.

Since you're a basement-dwelling nerd, your only knowledge of fitness training is high school phys ed. You go by that, and start jogging on the treadmill to help your cardivascular capacity. You read the wikipedia article on weight training, and start with 3x10 curls, benches, lat pull downs, and crunches.

A few months later you start learning a few things, and start incorporating squats and pull ups into your routine. However, you no longer have access to the gym so you give up cardio and go full bodyweight training.

It's been a year since you've started training. You pick up some weights from Walmart. You take a jujutsu class. You follow a 5x5 beginner's weights program.

It's been two years since you've lost that fight. You gain a yellow belt in jujutsu, certifying basic proficiency. You're the most physically fit you're ever been in your life. You get complimented on your body, confidence, and energy. Looking back, that fight was the best thing to ever happen in your life. You walk up to the guy you lost to and you thank him.

TL;DR.

GET SOME FUCKING SELF RESPECT. Learn to fight, as it's a great hobby (sport combat is probably my second favorite hobby), but realize that fighting to earn your self-respect. The fact that you even stood up to someone says something about you as a person.

Just don't let some stupid notion of revenge force you into a fight. All fights are potentially deadly, especially when untrained people are fighting each other.

Anonymous is right. Any time you get into a fight, you enter a situation where one of you could kill the other (if only by accident.) Fighting is what you do when every other course of action is denied to you.

OP again.

Here are my stats: 5'7' 153lbs.
My enemy(estimates only): 5'8-5'9' 160-170lbs.
now my enemy, im assuming has not been engaging in any regular exercise since graduating highschool. therefore he has loss muscle mass and replaced it with some adipose tissue. i am unsure of his fighting experience except for his past high school wrestling(approximately 2-3 years ago).

/fit/ please comment if you think i have a chance.

Do bursted push ups with clenched fists, hardens up your fists and makes you stronger. I do this, I am 6'7" and 250lbs and I used to play football and do boxing. I have never lost a fight, but everybody is right. If it is a streetfight, play dirty, unless you are doing it to impress a girl. I wrote this. I got another tip, main tip for fighting is discipline, STAY FUCKING CALM. It is so easy to go into a fight, he hits you, you see red go nuts and lose all concentration. Hope that he does this, if he has no fighting discipline, he will see red and like start wind-milling at you, throwing pointless punches. STAY FUCKING CALM, dodge around the punches and throw strong ones to his jaw area. If he is looking tough run at him low, grab his legs, pull them under him, get on top of him and repeatedly punch him in the face. He has no thrust in his punches when he is on the floor, where as hitting downwards is very easy. This is good advice and it works, good luck OP.

well, there's sparring... judged fighting... and real fighting...
sparring is a friendly activity where both/all participants try to help all the others improve...

judged fighting is where you show your physical prowess/superiority without causing great damage to the opponent (by causing pain)... also ok

in a real fight... you don't try to cause pain because it just isn't reliable for such a dire situation... you try to actually injure them (breaks, tears, dislocations) so that they can't do the same to you... there are rules in a real fight... only consequences... because of legal issues you should never be the aggressor in a real fight

however if you are attacked and put into a real fight situation, you cannot gaurantee that the other will spare your life if he/she wins... so you fuck them up hard enough that they physically can't do anything to you...
