Dear /fit/,
How deep should I be going during my squats? I've been doing below parallel for my 5x5 routine, so it isn't all that much weight, but every time I'm at the gym some fucking guido tells me I shouldn't squat that deep. Thoughts?

that guido doesn't know wtf he's talking about. squat the full range of motion!

Go down as far as you can without compromising form. A lot of people get just beyond parallel and their lower back tucks underneath them rather than staying arched. This can lead to injury. To fix it you need to stretch your hamstrings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq8CWv8UPAI has good information on that.

Also, make sure your knees don't buckle inwards - keep them tracking over your feet (but not too far over them)

below parallel, assuming you don't round your back / rise on your toes when you do it
if you do any of these 2 things, you need to improve your flexibility

When I do my 5x5 I go beyond the parallel, but when I'm doing more(weight or reps) I tend to start out going further, but end up working my back to full parallel.
