It would seem your prospects are slowly looking up.
30-40 pounds is a lot. Biking probably won't get the job done well. I realize that you're a big bigger than normal, but after a couple weeks of biking (just go as MUCH as you possibly can), switch to running. It's harder, and therefore will burn more fat. Also, your weight loss may look bad in the first month or two, as you will be building muscle (and a LOT) at the same time. Don't lose hope.
When at the running stage, if you are still pretty big, I'd switch days of biking and running, so you can let your joints take it easy. Also, bike EVERYWHERE if you don't run.
Also, change your eating habits. Have a big, good, healthy breakfast, then go burn it off. Eat well for the rest of the day, try not to graze but take a small portion (VERY small. Food guide small.) every time you get hungry, just enough to put you over for a couple hours. At first this will be hard and you'll get hungry often, but push through it a little and your stomach will start demanding less and less. Don't eat after the point at which you are going to sleep in four hours.
Also, get a sports team.
