/fit/

I'm in the military and after boot camp I was feeling great... During tech school we never exercised because it was always 96+ in biloxi ms..

Anyway I didn't keep up with my PT and now I'm not feeling well.. I don't eat very well (The dining facility on base is garbage and burger king is closer) so my question is this..

What should I eat and what exersizes should I do in order to feel like I did in bmt? (sorry for general questions...)

do whatever you did in boot if you felt so good
also walk your happy ass to the chow hall. you'll save money and eat healthier.

its a poor reflection on the air force that you don't know how to keep yourself in shape. doesn't your unit have mandatory PT?

I'm heading back in and honestly I plan on relying heavily on protein/meal replacement powders. No matter where we were we always had milk available(shelf-stable or otherwise) so as long as the powder is instantized it should mix well whether your in a dining facility or the "field" during a training exercise.

Seriously...it's gotta be better than throwing down fried catfish, fried okra, soda, and cheeseburgers at the chow hall. Protein powders are cheap as Hell too if you buy from a reputable online source.

Former AF SSgt-fag here...

Dude, that sounds like every AF base I've ever been assigned to (Misawa, Lackland, Al Udeid, etc)

lrn2HAWC, the people there that are paid thousands of dollars every year to help you form a diet/exercise plan. The only thing you have to do is make the appt. and stick w/ it.

As for food, you're either going to have to stick it out w/ the DFAC, come out of your own pocket for better food, or take this shit up w/ your first shirt (that's what he's there for). Explaing the situation, see if he can:

1. Get you BAS
or
2. Start bitching at SVS to provide better food.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK, don't just walk in his office crying about the food being awful. Write a list/schedule of the shit served, point out the faults, make your case.

DISMISSED!!

You think burger king is better than the dining facility? :\

Even if you don't like the mainline food, there is always a salad bar there.

>>a salad bar there

Always a good thing, but it can get old fast. You know a DFAC is shitty when the only thing you can tolerate is the salad bar.

I'm convinced this Anon has never served a day of his life in the military.

lrn2acronym, that's what the military operates on. Master that, master the system.

PROTIP: You prolly wouldn't understand them even if they were broken down.

I can't speak for the Air Force, but when I went through basic training the instructors were constantly preaching hydration and monitoring temp/humidity levels. Killing kids straight out of high school who don't know anything beyond their couch is a waste of time and money. They push you and you're constantly sleep deprived, but the drill instructors really looking out for you.

Once you get to your actual duty station they didn't really give a fuck what the temperature is. The expectation is that your ass is fit now and you need to suck it the fuck up and drive on like a soldier. If you backslide in regards to your fitness and you can't keep up then they slowly and methodically begin the process of removing you from the service.

Basic Training = Acclimatization

I do believe there are rules about how long people can work and what kind of rests they need in different temps. I saw a chart.

I'd believe it...at least for basic training and AIT. Once you get to permanent party(regular military duty) there were really no hard and fast rules about sleep, food, shower availability, or workload from what I understood. We did what we were told under the conditions that were presented to us. If something unfortunate happened because some soldier was over worked, under fed, dehydrated, and lacked sleep such is life in the armed forces.

Leadership is going to want to know if it could have been avoided, but sometimes you just have to do without and there's nothing(within reason) that can be done about it.

They have stuff for food, hydration, and sleep

reason they don't exercise in high heat, to many people died, simple as that

>constantly sleep deprived
This killed me. My DI was always on my shit about over-sleeping because nothing short of physical contatc would wake me up. Getting booted by everyone every morning for getting extra PT tacked on for my sleeping helped, lol.
