5'7", 148 lbs. I've only done online calculators and they say 9-12%, which sounds about right. I have visible abs but I need to flex to make them really stick out.

Uh...if the OP has 17% body fat and weights 223 pounds, there's no way the OP pic is her. The woman in he OP pic probably weighs around 300 or more and probably has upwards of 35 - 40% body fat. And that is a conservative estimate.

17% body fat is healthy and means you're not a fatass. Learn2eyeball.

How does one go about calculating this?

I use a scale that uses bioimpedence to measure it.

There are online calculators, but they don't take visceral fat into account. Online calculator gave me a 25.5% body fat percentage.

You can buy a pair of calipers online that will help you measure it very accurately. While it isn't the most accurate measure compared to all the testing methods that are available, it IS the most accurate method that is practical and that you can do in your own home.

You can get some of the ones listed on this page for 20 - 30 bucks on ebay.

118, 10%, but I'm pretty sure it's a higher % than that given my appearance and am chalking it up to sucking at using calipers.
