Mainly because your body will absorb it and direct the protein to rebuilding muscle tissue. Just a guess though, havent looked into it.

The body does most of it's repair overnight, so if you supply it with enough protein it will build a lot of muscle. Better to use casein protein though because it is absorbed more slowly than whey.
