Halp, /fit/

I'm 6'3, 265 pounds, and practically zero muscle mass. Basically, I'm a sack of fat. Turning 22 in July, and I decided it's time to get back to at least what I weighed in high school, which hovered around 200.

Equipment I have:

Mountain bike
Ab Lounger (my mom's, actually, but she stores it here since she stopped using it)
A dumb-bell set (two bars, 30 pounds worth of adjustable plate weights)

What kind of routine should I be looking at? I'm not looking to get ripped, as a matter of fact, I'd rather be a lot smaller overall. I just need to get rid of my gut, mantits, and all this fat around my ass and thighs.

right now, just eat healthier and start takin walks daily no streanuous excercise.
but mind you thats coming from a guy who only knows what his gym coach tought him when he was in high school.

Is biking a good substitute for walking? what kind of distance on a bike would equal a mile walking?

I'd like to keep the walking and running to a minimum if I can, my knees are in pretty shitty shape. Used to skate back in the day, and fucked up both knees pretty badly at one point or another.

If you're trying to lose weight, you're best off joining a gym and using a cross trainer, less pressure on your ankles and joints so you wont cop out after a month and revert back to old lifestyle.

Each meal should be mainly protein based (these are examples, i use diet based protein shakes so i cant really advise you on what to eat for each meal i.e

7am - tin of tuna & wholemeal bread

10am - Few slices of chicken and some salad

1pm - Chicken breast, vegetables and a slice of wholemeal bread

4pm - (i split my dinner here into 2 meals) i.e. chicken and alot of vegetables

5.30pm - same again, the other half left over. Im not saying eat a tin of tuna for breakfast from now on, its just an example of how an eating plan would go. Avoid carbs in your evening meal, get them in morning/afternoon.

2-4 hours running is pushing it imo.

Build up cardio to 40-60 mins a day in the morning, then if you have time get another 20-30 min session in the afternoon.

OP here. I'm not going to starve myself. Fuck off with your tuna and chicken.

You're eating some substance every three hours, you donkey (though I'd suggest every two hours).

So tell us, what do you want to hear, you small elephant? Do you want four Chinese men to rickshaw you around while you wave your arms and consider that cardio? Do you want someone to come and shovel from a small hill of cheeseburgers into your mouth? Do you want to hear us instruct you to go swim in a pool of Mountain Dew and tell you that it's easier on your joints?

You either change your way of thinking or you remain 265 pounds - which is Super Heavy Weight in fighting sports.

Like I mentioned earlier, I have a bike. Yet 149791 says go to the gym and use a cross trainer. Why? Why should I pay money to use someone else's equipment, when what I have is as good, gives me the same workout, and gets me out into the air and sun?

ITT: Faggots don't pay attention to OP.

ITT: A fat, out of shape, never worked out in his life OP asks people who are fit or are on their way to becoming fit for advice, and ignores it. Granted, "Go to the gym" is kind of a poor answer.

You don't need to starve yourself exactly, just begin toning down your portion sizes. Stop snacking when you're watching TV or whatever, set aside specific times to eat, and if you get hungry other times, drink water or eat something low-calorie but filling.

Start walking. Just around the block, then increase the distance, then start jogging, etc. Slowly increase the distance and speed. Don't push yourself too far, your body is not used to it and you will feel it in the morning.

I wouldn't even bother with the weights until you lose fat. If you gain muscle while trying to diet, your weight will not be accurate and you may become disillusioned. If you don't like going outside, use the exercise bike: Go at a moderate pace for as long as you can until you get tired, then the next day push yourself farther and so forth.

Getting fit is an endurance match. You have to stick to it to win.

Hey, /fit/.

A quick question for you: I usually like to walk/jog at night, like normally around 10 or so. I don't sleep until 12, so I get a chance to cool down afterwards. Would shifting my running to the morning when I wake up make a difference?

Yeah, disregard that. That was supposed to be a thread of its own.

dont listen to this idiot - if you gain muscle the more your body will use calories daily and it will help you far more then not lifting weights.

THIS.

Its the reason you should start working for muscle THEN lose weight.

It is so much harder to get skinny then fight your way back up to weight, than it is to build whilst heavy and then cut down afterwards.

OP here.

Disregard all that I'm a fat troll.

What if you just want to get skinny and aren't concerned with muscle?

Well go for it.

I'm just saying that Op should do a little bit of lifting, to put on a teeeeny bit of muscle. It'll drop the weight a fair bit quicker (increased metabolism) and he'll look infinitely better when the weight has come off.

Otherwise, he'll go from huge lardarse, to skinnyfat with little manboobs, to skinnyfat with smaller manboobs.

ITT : the fag of an OP dose not listen to the actual fit people of /fit/ , thus he probbably wouldnt of found fit if infact he had....gone the fuck outside ¬¬

Dude if your not serious about taking advise, fuck off and eat a cheese burger.

Reality=Geting into shape takes A LOT of time and effort. It will be hard, there is no quick method or secret to it, no miracle work out regime or food. If this is not what you expected then you can stay a fat fuck forever, if your willing to work then take some advice.
