Wow, fat free cottage cheese has a lot of protein for such little calories. Can it be eaten as a snack alone? I'm thinking about eating it instead of the apple I normally eat at around 3:30 PM.

I do everyday before bed. it's a constant supply of protein through a long night.

Same, although I mix in a tablespoon or two of natural peanut butter, nuke it, and then stir in a tiny bit of chocolate whey protein powder.

eat it with the apple, fiber and energy are good too

too many calories then. I have noticed I sweat more when I eat the apple, as I go to the gym about 30 minutes after that. Are the carbs from the apple directly related?

You see, you sweating more is extremely ambiguous...
It could be a number of things.
Amount of water had that day,
less sleep,
muscles more fatigued,
body is more adapted to exercise,
and the list goes on.
Don't worry about calories too much (yes caloric intake is important but..) worry more about macronutrients: carbs, fat, and protein, and what you need for what you're doing.
fruit carbs are good. They're low GI, meaning not much of a 'sugar rush', but less energy at a specific time, but it lasts overall longer. Cottage cheese has some carbs, too, but they're higher in GI. Definitely has a lot of protein, though. I'd say have a small apple and the cottage cheese.

also always good to have a few carbs before working out to prevent catabolism
