Considering the last thing I've eaten were wheat thins, an apple, carrots, peanut butter, ground chuck, grapes, and drank some water, that looks pretty gross.

>> OP
I'm a skinny fuck with a metabolism like a hummingbird. I work out a lot and have been for quite a while, without much result. My diet isn't good. My thought process is that I'm not giving my body enough energy so its just eating away my muscles, so I'm going to eat shit like this more often. I also drink a lot of protein and try to balance it out with actually healthy things like fruits and salads.

looks so good... if i wasnt poor id get some.

That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've read in a long, long time

AW FUCK YOU OP
>> OP
>>49737
Well I never said I was smart. Ok so my body isn't eating away my muscles, I do know that you don't gain or lose muscle tissue, but I mean not getting enough energy doesn't help in muscle gain.

>>49727

I had one of the servers tell me 5200; either way DAMN!
>> Anonymous
That doesn't look 2900....

I hear Ice-cream is good for weight gain.

Also, fucking peanut butter.
>> OP
>>49765
Mmm ice cream, don't get that too often. I eat peanut butter sandwiches like they're going out of style. And lately I've been trying to increase my protein intake a lot.

>> OP

I've contemplated weight gainer, but if you don't work out like a fucking fiend doesn't it turn to fat? I don't wanna get chubby :\
>> Anonymous

IF YOU EAT A LOT OF ANYTHING AND YOU DON'T WORK OUT YOU GET FAT WHAT OTHER WEIGHT WOULD YOU GAIN?

Only tastier!

Powdered milk. It has all the goodness of a protein shake, and then calories on top of it.
Tastes pretty manky though imo.

>>49781
I feel like I could eat anything I want, and sit and do absolutely nothing all day every day, and gain no weight. It's called being a hard gainer. I honestly don't think I've gained or lost a pound in like a year, and that's bad. I'm just asking that if you're taking weight gainer, do you have to be extra vigilant about working out.

Depends. Are you a severe ectomorph who just needs to gain any body weight or just looking for muscle? If it's the later Whey protein. Yes, it can potentially make you fat but a high protein diet is fundamental to gaining muscle mass. You need 1.0-2.0 grams per pound of body weight; 1.5 is probably a safe bet. You'll need to adjust your diet to take into account the extra protein calories but It *does* work. Without enough protein intake per day and before/after lifting it's just wasted effort.
>> OP
>>49791
I'd like to gain weight overall, but I guess that would mainly be in the form of muscle, yes. I mean a higher body fat percentage wouldn't hurt either. I need over 5 and a half protein shakes a day to get a gram per pound of body weight, I'm doing good if I put down 3. So I'll just have to step it up.

>>49786
Actually being a hardgainer means you have a low tolerance for exercise: ie. you over train really really easy and can only handle a small work load. Many hardgainers find if they back off and get their nutritional support right they make better gains.

I'm betting your issue is inadequate protein. I had that exact same problem and no amount of training cured it. I'm talking I did 5 day a week volume training with ZERO results. Now I'm doing 2 days a week+ 250grams of protein per day and I'm getting stronger every week.

Duly noted.

whether you gain weight or not you dumb fucks your cholesterol is still through the roof and your bodyfat % is a lot higher than it should be. enjoy your heart problems later in life.

A good clean diet works both to lose weight and gain weight- eat the same shit, but EAT MORE.
>> Anonymous
>>49794

you can't live on shakes. Make sure 70-80% of that comes from real food. Weigh your protien on a scale and figure out the protien value. An eight ounce breast of chicken has like 64 grams of protien. 2-3 servings of lean meats/fish will go along way before you have to pound whey. :p It does help to try and have five meals just to spread out your intake though.
>> OP
>>49800
I try to intersperse the whey with actual food that has good protein, as well as other foods that round out the food pyramid etc, I just don't do a very good job of it.
>> Anonymous
>>whether you gain weight or not you dumb fucks your cholesterol is still through the roof .

not really; I eat lean protein thanks.
>> Anonymous
op you should be eating 7 small meals a day, fruits, nuts, clean meats, fish, lots of dairy, fibre, drink water regularly. how the fuck do you expect to gain anything but fat from eating that junk? heres the bigger thing, you might not gain weight at all- but your body will just lose muscle composition to maintain your current weight but increase your fat composition because of that crap you're eating.

it should take about 1 month to gain 5 pounds, and it will all be lean muscle. You should work out for about 60mins a day in the 10-12 rep scheme until you are strong enough to lift heavier and reduce the reps.
>> OP
>>49809
I barely eat stuff like this, I just wanted to eat more stuff like this for the caloric intake. I've been working out for months and months with gradually increasing weight, just sorta plateaued though, and I know my diet is the culprit.
>> Anonymous
>>how the fuck do you expect to gain anything but fat from eating that junk?

Once a week is fine. Cheat meals once a week can be an important psychological crutch that helps your diet succeed. It won't make you fat if you obey your diet the other six 1/2 days.
>> Anonymous
>>49811

That could be it your you may have had some neural adaption. Switch up your lifts too it may help you break through it.
>> Anonymous
fuck yeah, the louie simmons diet.

>>49737
no it's not. he can get really fucking strong eating like that; short term the body doesn't give a shit, it just wants the calories. stop thinking like a body comp nazi. cardiac health may not be optimal though. in fact, very much no.

assuming he is lifting da weights that is.

>>49786
the usual thing about hard gainers is that they don't actually eat as much as they think they do. i thought i ate like a pig because i would pack away a burger combo every day or so. then i started a food journal.

>>49799
meh. even if you're eating clean, when it comes to the crunch you're going to have to bulk somehow. the easiest and cheapest method is just increasing overall food intake. problem is, if you're eating real clean then this means large increases in food mass; most people can't do this. force feeding is a fucking nightmare. so it's easier to use high calorie foods, which adds to body fat for a while.

real clean weight gain is very pedantic indeed. you'll want to be consuming large amounts of high availability protein and several hundred grams of carbohydrates pre, peri and post workout. and that's the most basic way of doing it. once again, that's not easy. solid food makes this very difficult and expensive.
>> Anonymous
Holy fuck that looks disgusting.

Closest thing i had was poutine about two years ago. I'll have one or two more in my lifetime, not my thing.

>Protip: Weight gainers are useless and major ripoffs. Make your own by adding Oats, dextrose, fruit in your whey shake. works much better
>> Anonymous
>>49841
wheres a good place to find dextrose?
>> Anonymous
>>49853
Malt liquor
>> Anonymous
>>49853

true protein.com has good quality product if you can hack the expense and slow shipping.

>force feeding is a fucking nightmare

It's manageable; but you have to eat pretty frequently to make it work.
>> Anonymous
Dextrose can be found pretty much in any bulk store, my shitty mall has one. some bakeries sell it for real cheap as well.
>> Anonymous
After some research I see that maltodextrin is recommended over dextrose, and that ideally it's a mix of the two.
