Seriously, I can relate. Shit is horrible right now, especially if you're broke.
Honestly, there's a few things I do to help me chill out. One thing I discovered last week is that when I get super pissed or depressed, I would go for a walk. It may sound stupid, but it actually helped. All the pent up anger and energy would get used and I felt much calmer afterwards and able to think straight.
Another thing is, write. Write down your thoughts. Doesn't matter if you're good or not. Just pour it all out onto a piece of paper and then burn it. It's another way of helping you just "let go" of it all.
If you're more of the organized and orderly type, what I would suggest is to write down all your issues on a piece of paper and list them in order of importance (like getting a job, doing school work, etc.) Create a second column and list ideas of how you want to go about accomplishing said tasks.
As for the school, go up to your schools financial aid department (or whoever handles tuition at your particular school) and talk to them about the $1k. Ask if you can work something out. Worst comes to worst, they'll say no, but at least you tried.
Good luck, and just know you're not the only one. Just try and take shit one day at a time.
