So here's the deal, /fit/. For the last two weeks I've been doing calisthenics, some cardio (mostly jogging, plus doing some combinations on my punching bag). I've been eating less food and eating healthier. I realize that since I am not doing a million SQUAAAAAATZ per day that you will not be impressed with my progress, but I wanted to share it with someone. I've dropped over fifteen pounds so far. The pic is related, it's me when I started and me now. Same pose and all that, and the blackened out stuff is just identifying marks, because we are supposed to be anonymous, after all.

You're losing weight, which is good. You need to add some strength training in there, because otherwise you'll just look like a stick when you're done.

Haha. OP here - if you're my daughter, how the hell did you get out of your crib, and what are you doing on 4chan?

OP here. I'm planning on keeping it up for at least thirty more pounds. That first pic was me at 215, the second is me at 200 and was taken earlier today. When I get down to 170 I think I'll be happy with that weight. My "ideal weight" is allegedly 154, but I weighed 155 throughout high school and was skinny as fuck. I'll decide whether to keep losing when I hit 170. Thanks for the encouragement!

Nice progress in 2 weeks, keep up the good work
>> Anonymous
That's not too bad dude. Actually that's pretty awesome. Just watch out for the yoyo effect when you're done dieting, that thing can fuck you up.
>> Anonymous
>>156784
Oh yeah what I forgot: You should have one cheat day per week. That is one day of regular eating (Not something like super extra mega sized giant burger meal, but something you'd normally eat. If that is what you normally eat...eat something else.)
That will help preventing teh yoyo.
>> Anonymous
>>156786
should is a bit too much. Cheat day is only for the weak willed.
Real men skip that shit.
>> Anonymous
More precisely: real men don't plan cheat days, cheat days happen to them and they deal with it (be it wedding, surprise parties and such)
>> Anonymous
OP - you're dieting makes me very proud.
keep up the hard work

If your looking to lose weight then stick with the cardio, it wont build as much muscle but will still burn fat.
>> Anonymous
>>156853
OP here again. I had a cheat day happen to me last weekend - I was speaking at a friend's wedding, and I knew she'd be offended if I didn't have some of her wedding cake. I had some cake, I ate some veggies off of the little buffet thing, and I killed some cardio later. Everything turned out okay.

>>156948
For now, it's all about weight loss. I let myself go far, far too long, just gaining pound after pound. I'll work on some muscle building later, but for now it's all about just burning off what I've gained.

>> Anonymous
>>157037
OP here again. I have heard this, and if I see a reduction in weight loss, I may try a cheat day to shock my system back into shape again. For now, I am pretty happy with the fact that I'm basically losing a pound a day.
>> Anonymous
Hey keep it up. but dont eat less. Eat better, if that makes sence.

Eat good shit, like fish, nuts and carrots, eat often, every couple (2) hours. Drink lots of water.

Do weight training also. bigger muscles burn more callories. Deadlifts, SUAAAAAAAAAATZZ, Bench Press...

Awesome Job DAD... i am proud of u.

>>157095
OP here. I guess I should just say what I'm doing - it's the Men's Health Belly Off! diet/exercise plan, and as you can see from the pics it's aptly named. I've had all the KNOWLEDGE of how to eat healthily for a long time now, but I've just never really applied it.
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
CARDIO DOES NOT PROVIDE LONG TERM FAT LOSS

DO SOME WEIGHTLIFTING AND EXPLOSIVE SHIT
>> Anonymous
>>157110
OP here once again. I'm doing cardio and HIIT. I'm also doing prisoner squats into jumping, which is what a wrestling coach recommended to build some explosive power.
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
>>157116

Stop cardio. Do short HIIT sessions and 45 min intense weightlifting in conjunction with diet to actually see long term fat loss. You'll grind to a halt with all that gay cardio shit soon.
>> Anonymous
>>156705
The trick is not to eat less, but to change what you eat and how often during the day you eat it.

For example, lets say you run on a 2000 calorie diet, if you're doing a lot. That much divided between 5 or 6 meals a day is better than your normal 3 meals a day. Furthermore, breakfast is important, and should be your biggest meal of the day. Also, never eat, then go to sleep right afterwards. Obviously, this includes midnight snacks.
>> Anonymous
>>157122
OP again. When I see the weight loss slowing down, then I'll re-evaluate what I'm doing - but I'm dropping a pound a day at this rate. Everything I've seen says that that is a fantastic rate of loss.

>>157123

I was eating too much and eating unhealthily, so I've changed what I'm eating and I'm eating less of it.
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
>>157138

Pound a day isn't fat. Nuff said.

Re-evaluate now before you set yourself back.
>> Anonymous
>>157122

Terrible advice is terrible. Intense training slows your metabolism a lot, especially lifting since it is not aerobic.

And he'll plateau, regardless of what he does, if he does NOTHING BUT that. Do nothing but HIIT and lifting and watch in awe as your body MAGICALLY gets conditioned to the same work outs and becomes extremely energy efficient, resulting in a slower metabolism and less calories burned for the same amount of work.
>> Anonymous
>>157144
OP again. Really, nothing except a lack of results is going to deter me from doing what I'm doing, so don't worry about people telling me I need to be lifting over 9000 pounds a day or whatever. Basically, I jog, I work out on my punching bag, I hop on a bike from time to time. I'm just really happy to be seeing results.

>>157148
Well, I say you take a step back for a moment and consider Sponge's advice to re-evaluate. You say you are losing weight, but what I see from the photos, the only thing that's changing on your beer gut is that it's getting hairier.

I only say this because it is about 100000 times easier to start off right rather than doing it wrong, then having to correct yourself when you've basically fucked yourself over.

OP here again, probably for the last time tonight. I'll take it under consideration, but as long as the scale keeps showing lower numbers and my pants/shirts keep getting looser, I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing.

Thanks for the encouragement, some of you, and the advice from the rest of you. Later.

>>157155

He is losing weight, he just didn't lose enough to fix his whole body yet. Consider that the difference in his pics is only 15 pounds, he said the left pic is 215 and right is 200. He's STILL 200 pounds and obviously not carrying that much muscle, so he's got at least a good 50 pounds of fat left on him...that's A LOT to lose and it will change his body a lot when he loses it.

And then consider the majority of that fat is right in his midsection...so losing 15 pounds of it won't make a massive change.

This is pretty much the opposite of what is true.

aerobic exercise is catabolic in nature,
anaerobic exercise speeds up your metabolism.

how the fuck is your body supposed to get used to an all out sprint, its going to be a faster sprint than last week. how is it going to get used to lifting 5 - 10 more lbs on the barbell each week? tip: it cant, it has to keep growing to keep up with the progress.

this post is a perfect example of a faggot who cant give advice because he himself is in shit shape

Ignore the naysayers, you are doing just fine. However, do add in weight training to your program. You'll have to eat a bit more calories to compensate.

If you do that, when you hit your target weight, you'll look better than just a skinny guy. And you won't have to worry about it later either. Just think of it like this. You're already going through all the effort to lose fat, why not go the extra mile and come out looking great at the end?
>> Anonymous
Your progress is good ^^ Do you drink alcohol, though? Cos your stomach seems a bit out of proportion with the rest of your loss. I recommend cutting the beer, or situps to help flatten it :3 It'll make you look loads better in the end!

OP, back again. Yes, I used to drink a lot of alcohol, and I had a bit last weekend, but other than that I've been a teetotaler recently.

On the advice of virtually everyone in the thread, I'm adding some weights into the workout today. Nothing insane, going for toning rather than hypertrophic muscle gain. (I think I said that right - high reps rather than getting HUEG LIEK XBOX). Also I'm going to be doing more ab work, as clearly I've still got a long way to go before having a nice-looking stomach.

Oh, and whoever made the "hairy belly" comment - my wife, for whatever reason, is totally against me shaving/nairing/whatever, so it'll stay hairy. Oh well.
>> Anonymous
Way to go. Keep it up.
>> Anonymous
>>158252

high reps(up to 15) will give you bigger muscle, not give you "tone", toning comes from losing fat

so if your goal isn't to get huge, i think you should do low reps
>> Anonymous
>>158265
15 is too many. 5-8 is what you want for bigger muscles. Any more than that and you'll be working endurance.
