Hey /fit/, I'm new in town to I hope you will all humor me

In short, I'm a big old fatty, and I'm looking to lose some weight. I had attempted this about 4 times in the past, each time with no success, but that's my fault and to some extent, the fault of my parents as my dad never works out, and my mother never really needed to.

I'm planning to give this my first serious shot in about a year now, and I'd really like some help or suggestions that would help me lose weight

(note, all the original measurements taken were in the english system, so the metric conversion is rough)

Weight: 256 lbs/116 kg
Height: 6' 1"/185.4 cm
Large body frame
Goal: 200 lbs by New Year

My current exercise regiment consists of about 3 hours of dance dance revolution (yeah yeah, wapanese, etc.), and wanted to know some other exercises I could try

yeah, that seemed a smite obvious, but i have almost no stamina, mostly because I was a sedentary for the past few months. I do jog from my train station and back if I'm not carrying too heavy a load, but even that tires me out at this point (about a 8th of a mile)

Well running will help you work on your stamina. Also that 3 hours of DDR is like for the week?

Start out at something you can do. Walk very briskly or something. But you WANT to be tired and sweaty, that's the point.

DDR isn't going to do shit. It's anaerobic, not aerobic.

Lift weights, eat healthy, do cardio, get sleep, take vitamins and fishoil, keep good measurements, and have a good attitude

a day, I usually get home after about 5 or 6 so i'd rather not go jogging or running after dark

yeah, I get your point, I'll have to start doing so more often.

I do plan to start going out during the summer, when twilight comes at around 7 or 8, but at the moment I'd prefer indoor exercises

Do you have access to a gym? You need to SERIOUSLY consider joining one, even if it's embarrassing or inconvenient. It will help immensely.

If you absolutely can't, try to talk your parents into getting an elliptical machine. Twice daily, you can do twenty to thirty minutes on that bad boy at increasing levels (lots will even have weight loss settings to help you) and burn at least a hundred calories per run, while improving your stamina and endurance.

Also: walk an hour a day. It will make a difference, even if you don't go fast enough to feel tired.

I used to be part of a gym, but my membership expired about a year ago because life came up. I already own a treadmill, but I had to have it stored because there was no good place to have it in my house. I'd probably be using that at the moment if it weren't for that, and I dont think I could even fit an elliptical machine anywhere in my apartment. I'll have to try and see if I can sign up for a gym again, as it does seem my best option. Thank you

I believe a good plan would be to jog 15-30 minutes each morning, and do whatever other exercises I can during the afternoon when I arrive home.

OP: slow and steady. You have to build up. Pay no attention to these fags who don't have the experience to comment on. People who come from fat know it's not an instant progression from couch to running.
If you wear yourself out too much, you're not going to be able to do it again the next day. Build up to it. I'm on my 4th and hopefully final attempt myself.
So far things are going great. You just have to be determined when you wake up that you have to do it.

Also: LOL technique snobbery. To say jumping around and moving fast doesn't do anything is a pitiful lie at best. Whatever fucking works to get someone active, dumbasses. Shit will proceed from there.

Try doing HIIT, it might be extremely hard at fist, but the results come fast.

When I 1st started, I couldn’t even do 2 min at 8 kph without collapsing to the ground and thinking I was gonna die. Now, 3 and a bit weeks later I’m over 9 min and easily pushing 16 kph and then I still jog for another 20 min after that.

Along with the cardio, start lifting weights. The more lean muscle you have, the more energy is needed during your workouts, the more calories you’ll burn.

Maybe if you only play one song. Otherwise, you don't understand the difference between the two.
