when you wake up. drink a glass of water, and then go for a run. Do not eat anything yet. Run or walk at least one city block in the morning before you eat anything. Then eat a healthy breakfast. I wouldn't worry too much about the calories as I would about the quality of the food, but avoid fatty/greasy stuff. Eat things like toast w/jam or honey but no butter, oatmeal, some of those fiber cereals (generally anything marketed to children is bad)
eat 6 meals a day, but make them small meals. If you break up your meals to be smaller, more frequent, and evenly spaced apart, your body will process it better.
And don't drink pop, beer, or even juice. Drink water, or water with lemon in it if you are dying for some flavor. people don't realize how much their drinking habits affect their weight.
