What is the purpose in ice baths after training? Does it really do much?
shit fucks up your muscles
it's weird, because i use the hot tub after working out which is the opposite...
I really have no idea why you'd do that. After working out your muscles are warm and expanded, plunging them in ice cold fucking water will shrivel and fuck them over. What the fuck.
To attempt to prove you're a man after you were benching 10lbs.
Seals micro tears in your muscles apparently. Helps heal faster.
reduces DOMS before DOMS has a chance to kick in... also good if you're just coming into a routine from an injury.
>>170057technically, they heal slower, however the body doesn't do a rush job... thusly, it has more ime to extract all the nasty byproducts that cause killer DOMS... it *will NOT* interfere with training the next day
>>170052yeah thats what i hear, rugby players use them all the time
>>170057Gatorade Sports Science Instititute... it's like google for fitness questions
>>170072disregard that, I suck cocks... dembshit amateur/high school rugby players use them as a tool to reduce pain... and just happen to put their muscles into a more fragile state.ice is for AFTER heavy activity
i thought that they were used more by distance runners? because i see all the guys on the cross country team at my school use them after races or after a day where they run more than like 8 miles
>>170080that's what I meant :/
>>170088they are more typically used *correctly* by distance runners from a young agein other sports people don't seem to figure it out until the professional level
You suffer through 10 minutes of agonising pain inorder to not have a mild soreness the next day.Makes perfect sense really.
>>170101Hi Jacob.
>>170135OMG Hai!
I have a cold shower after I jog, it just feels good. Have a warm one after lifting session, though.
>>170101it makes a huge difference if you are going to a cross country meetthe guy who's legs aren't sore is going to get a much better time than the guy who's legs are aching
>>170242ignore the sage in the name slot, forgot to delete it
It's only good if you need to be active the next day. That's why baseball, basketball etc players do it, since they do it to be ready the next day.
