I am 5' 10" and 150 Pounds. I never exercise and am pretty weak (skinny fat). I have no shoulders at all, a very sunken chest, pencil neck and noodle arms.

I live in a tiny rented room with almost no room. I will be here for another six months before I am in a financial situation where I can join a gym. Right now the only equipment that I have access to is a pair of 20 pound dumbells.

Using just these dumbells what kind of exercises can I do that will build up my upper body a bit so that I will stop looking like Ichabod Crane?

I realize that I won't be able to make too much progress without proper equipment but that won't happen for a while so I want to do what I can for the next 6 months, until I can get access to a gym.

You can make plenty of progress with NO equipment. Pushups and variations, pullups, running, one leg squats, etc....

start with basic pushups, air squats, sit ups, etc

after the first few weeks if you've kept at it you can start using the two 20lb weights for the squats. Throw some squat press in there as well for the fun of it. Oh and lunges. . . you know you can probably start on the squats and lunges right away..

For shoulders do shoulder shrugs, try and do other shoulder exercises (although you probably won't be able to do it) Do some military presses with them and. . . SQUATZ!

Theres also curls and tricep extensions you can do with those, look up how to do those.

Oh and weighted ab exercises as well

HA! Keep telling yourself that.

Shoulder shrugs with 20lb weights? Are you made of rainbows and candy floss?

Honestly there isn't enough room. There is a bed and a dresser with about 22" standing room between them. The area where the door swings open is the only place that I can really stand and have the room to do anything.

My main worry is that with only #20 dumbells, any exercise that do is going to end up being more cardio than muscle building.

Go to a park and do pushups/squatz/DB exercises. It's not winter, so exercising outside is a go. Do pull-ups from bars or sturdy tree branches. Then run a few laps around. Bonus points for running to the park, *with* dumbbells.

So if I am doing massive repetitions can I do the every day or should I only do them three times a week?

Like if I can do 100 curls with these #20 weights, can I do that every other day or do I need to still give my muscles longer to recover?

its up to you but you should give a day rest anyway

run the other day

Never do more than 10 reps a set, but yeah, just do tons of 10-rep sets.

If you wait thirty seconds between sets, it will never be aerobic.

It won't be better than doing two or three sets at a heavy weight, but better than being Ichabod. (Or "Ick! Ugly-bod!")

I wonder how gymnasts train? They can do planche pushups with ease, iron cross, and muscle ups like there's no tomorrow. Must be the steroids.

USA Gymnastics has an online store where among other things they sell a book called "The fifth event: Conditioning". If you purchase this book you'll get a good idea of the kinds of exercises gymnasts do. The book shows really super sexy young girls with sexy as hell bodies working out. It'll still lead you in the right direction.

The right direction being pedophilia, right?

Sounds really good.
Any suggestions on getting more info?
I don't know what some of those terms mean...
