So /fit/, help me out here

Im trying to lose weight, and nothing seems to be working. I get 30+mins a day of execercise, and keep my heart rate up the whole time. Ive cut soda out of my diet, save for one energy drink a week, and have cut out fast food. I eat small, healthy meals, low on carbs and calories, drink alot of water, all that good stuff. But try as I might, my weight stays the same, it even goes up. I looked up my maintenance calorie level, its like 3115. Im 6', 278lbs. I know I eat WAY under that every day, and even then exercise. Why am I not losing weight?

I weighed myself 2 days ago, I weighed 278.5. Yesterday, I weighed 281.8, and this morning I weight 280.8. I havent had an increased diet or anything. I worked out two days ago, got my heart going and everything, and my weight went up. Yesterday, I didnt have any time for exercise, and my weght went down. I dont know what the fuck is going on

How long have you been trying to lose weight? It won't happen overnight, but, I'm sure you're aware of that.

Your weight fluctuation can occur due to both water weight and digestion. It's why a lot of gimmick products are able to say, "You'll lose 5lb the first week!", cause you most likely will, with just losing water weight.

I won't bs you with the, "Muscle weighs more than fat dood!" spiel cause that's most likely not the case here.

tl;dr take a shit, your weight will drop.

This. Always weigh yourself in the mornings after taking a dump, otherwise you'll be counting any food/feces/urine still in you.

Ive been exercising with jogging, DDR, whatever I can fit into my time schedule, for about 2-3 weeks now, and Ive lost only about two pounds. I origonally weighed about 288 back in Feb, but I got hit with some depression (dumped) and didnt leave the house, and didnt consume anything other than water and a glass of soy milk and OJ a day, to keep up nutrients.

Ive also been lifting, and Ive taken that into consideration, but these weight fluctuations leave a bit unexplained.

Yeah, I weigh myself every morning, after taking a dump, no clothes.

your weight changes hour to hour.. it depends on many many things. what i do is weigh myself every morning, then take the weights from that day and the 5 before it, and then find the average. if you chart your weight, this will give you a better idea of how quickly you're losing.

By the way, Im not looking for an answer as to what may be making me a little heavier when I weigh in, Im looking for an answer as to why after 2 weeks of exercise, my weigh has only gone down about a pound

You're just trying to lose fat and look better, right? Then throw away the damn scale. If you're calculating it and burning more calories than you're eating and keeping the majority of your meals on the healthy nutritious side, then you're fine. It'll take a month for shit to really show, especially if you went from fat lazy fuck to healthy fitness guy in a short amount of time, your body will get confused. But don't bother with how much you way, focus on how you look and feel.

As a side note, what KIND of exercise are you doing? Is it cardio/weights/mix? Because some exercises burn more and better than others and that just may be a part of the problem.

try to weigh yourself just once a week.
or average it out.
You wont see results in the short term

My main source of exercise, as I said, Is either walking/jogging for 2 miles, or DDR for about 45-60 mins. (And not on pussy mode, I actually sweat) Whichever I feel more apt to at the time.

Ive also been lifting dumbells at home, mainly bench press/flies, curls, side lifts, and the one behind your head, works on the triceps.

Also doing crunches, sit ups, and holding legs about 6 inches above the ground for 30 seconds, and some leg lifts from laying down.

My main focus is to better myself physically. I want to look better, and get rid of all this excess fat, seeign as Ive never been not overweight. I want actual visible muscle.

Then you're doing everything right. Ignore the scale, look in the mirror and judge for yourself.

Do HIIT and blast those pounds away.

many people who have been sedentary and have a high bf% WILL gain weight when they start to get in shape... sedentary people have a very easy time putting on muscle mass compared to athletic people...

try taking a daily picture on the same wall and see the change there rather than on a scale (or weigh yourself less often)

my mom recently started getting in shape and she was quite depressed the first two weeks... same reason

Sounds like a great start. Add HIIT, and most important, heavy compound lifts (forget the curls, they're a waste of time for anybody who's not a pro bodybuilder).

Eat more protein. Add Omega-3's to your diet.

Keep it up, real results will take a while but they will come if you work at it. You will NEVER again be as much of a fat lazy pussy as you are now.
