Hey /fit/, how much sodium is too much?
>> Anonymous
Depends. Are you a slug?

I am a growing boy.

It's just that, I want to enjoy some non-fat Stonyfield yogurt cups and the only thing that bothers me is that they have 100+mg of sodium. I don't know ANYTHING about sodium, but everyone hates it. WRY?

you can have around 2000mg daily

What happens if someone has more? Do they die?

It's bad for your blood pressure, and causes water retention.

Excess sodium will dehydrate you, because your body will automatically filter it out of your blood in sweat and urine, so you will sweat and piss more.

i dunno. salt is 6-7x too high in the average U.S. diet though.

a cup of water should have a pinch of salt, to keep the electrolytes in proper balance.

related: one chick who was high on some drug chugged a water cooler and died due to the lack of electrolytes (too diluted in the body). this quite rare, usually the body will stop from drinking so much.

Who the fuck is concerned with goddamn salt intake?
Do you idiots eat raw salt or what?
Just put a 'lil bit on your steak and forget about the stuff.
Uh Mamma, gotta git me another one of that sodium shots. ARRRGH, ROID-RAGE.

People who eat too many prepackaged meals. There's like 800mg of sodium in each one of those (~40% recommended allowance) so if you have more than 1 a day, you risk having hypertension.

Salt as about as important as water. Without it, you die.
