i just gave up sodas. been 5 days now. i'm looking for something tasty and something tasty and fizzy to replace.

how is that light lemonade (minute maid) and diet root beer?
>> Anonymous
Here's an idea: every time you crave soda, chug water. You will no longer crave soda.

Dude. Arizona Green Tea. The big gallon jugs. Keep one by your desk or whever you do most of your drinking. I love that shit (as a habitual drinker; not of alcohol, but just fluids. When I'm idling, I just need to drink something.) and it's considerably healthier than soda.

i have been drinking a lot of water, but i want some flavor mixed in!
>> Mr. LTE
I found water to be the best alternative, mainly because I'm Dutch, and like the Jews, we are notoriously cheap. Look at like this anon.

Water is free, its something the body needs naturally and helps us function.

Not watery drinks don't do all of these, they make us feel good and taste yummy, but that really aren't doing much other than that, furthermore, soda makes you thirsty, which makes you have to go get some WATER.

Lets look at it this way OP. You and I go to a restaurant and order the same meal, but for my drink I get water, you get a soda.

Your dinner just got 2 dollars or so tacked on because you needed something fizzy and tasty. How the hell do you justify spending that kind of money on something that gets canceled out by the water you're going to end up drinking with your meal to get the salty taste of the soda out of your mouth?

Just think about it. Just think about it.

you can go for flavored water and gatorade. Or even that vitamin water that everyone's been raving about. Arizona green tea is love though. One time though it sat too long in my fridge and tasted fizzy...

Only the diet kinds. The majority of the "tea" that they sell is essentially pop with tea thrown in.

ARIZONA GREEN TEA INGREDIENTS LABEL:

"Premium brewed Green Tea using filtered water, high fructose corn syrup, honey, citric acid, natural flavors, ginseng extract, ascorbic acid." No preservatives, no artifial colors.

Now, anyone care to list off the ingredients in a can of Coke?

I'm not saying it's a healthy ingredient in any way, but you'll be hard pressed to find anything on the market that doesn't contain it. You're splitting hairs.

Prove to me that Arizona Green Tea is just as unhealthy as Coke.

WATER

Arizona is certainly more healthy than pepsi, but water or actual green tea are certainly more healthy than Arizona products. Or Snapple products.

High fructose corn syrup is everywhere, you're exactly right. If you're going to buy some sort of bar or other snack that you like that seems healthy, next time just look at the ingredients list. If it has HFCS, stay away.

I stopped drinking soda last December.
What I found is that drinking fruit juice helped with the sugar cravings, but I also had to limit my self to two glass a day and just drank filtered water the rest of the time.

I don't crave soda too badly anymore and I allow my self one glass if I eat out which isn't often.

Good luck OP, if you stick to your sodaless diet you will feel better eventually.

Yes, but real green tea is more work, and doesn't taste too great. I like Arizona's because it's sweet.

Ive been off Soda too for about a month and like others mentioned chugging water really helps. I have a 64oz. container that I fill with water and drink throughout the day. It keeps me hydrated and fills me up too so I don't eat a lot. But when I'm craving something sweet and fizzy I just have one these
<----- and then I'm all set. They're kinda expensive though and I have to drive a bit to get them but it's better than soda.

THAT WOULD BE NICE WOULDN'T IT? IT WOULD ALSO BE NICE IF THERE WAS SOMETHING EQUALLY AS DELICIOUS AND FATTY AS BACON WITHOUT ALL THE FAT. OR SOMETHING AS CRISPY AND OILY AS DEEP FRIED FOODS WITHOUT THE TRUCKLOADS OF CARBS.
>> Anonymous
Drink Diet colas, they have 0 calories and like .5% of your value of sodium. Drinking Gatorade or sweetened teas will just be adding empty calories to your diet. Coke Zero and Sprite Zero taste pretty much exactly like the normal versions if you don't like the 'diet' versions.
>> Anonymous
Soda is like crack for me. I would stick with lemonade since it is far healthier(preferably go for a good natural brand since the minute maid is low quality). In addition cranberry juice is very good as well and smoothies from jamba juice or odwalla juice arevery good substitutes. If you go for iced tea make sure it has no caffeine. This is very important. Caffeine will raise your blood pressure and put more strain on your heart and make you very drowsy once it wears off.
>> Anonymous
Jesus fucking christ there are people in the world trying to get off cigarettes and heroin but you honestly can't get through a day without tipping some fizzy acidic syrup down you?

Water.
Or iced tea. Unsweetened, natch. Toss a peppermint teabag in with the rest. Or chai, I like those too.
Seriously, you're a sugar addict right now. There's one way to kick that habit and that's cold fucking turkey. You'll be seriously glad you did.

You wanna know the main reason why coke is bad for you? High Fructose Corn Syrup. As you already found out, it's also in that Arizona "tea". And just because HFCS is found in a lot of things is irrelevant. It doesn't change the fact that it's a major fat gainer, and it doesn't change the fact that it's in pop AND Arizona Green Tea.

What about flavored seltzer?

I know I'm going to get a ripping for this but Pepsi Max is what I turn to when the cravings get tough. Probably got all kinds of other rubbish in it but what the hell, it's only once in a while.

As others have put forward; juice is good, green tea is great and water is awesome.

Gatorade and other oral hydration/isotonic beverages still have a fair bit of sugar in there. Fine if you're going to burn it off but they don't make much more good for you a 'casual drink' than soft drinks.

Only real way out is to change your lifestyle to exclude soft drinks whenever feasible.

Water's awesome, but if I want something sweet to lace my mouth it probably is green tea with some sugar, or an energy drink before working out. As for many other things, I just drink water. I've drank a lot of water since I was young, and I'm still doing so now.

Hi anon, my name is anon, and ive been clean for over a year now, the only time i drink soda is usually when i drink alcohol, which is hardly ever, only a few times a year at this point.

personally, i just went with propel most f the time, its got 1/5 the calories of soda, tons less sugar, and none of that shitty carbonation.

now its mostly water or juice. i stopped cold turkey, wasnt that hard.

There are dozen of non sugar sweeteners that are not synthetic and many of the synthetic ones have never shown any effects on the human body. Some are carcinogenic, but they were taken off the fucking market. Eating too much sugar gives you fucking diabetes, and cola consumption has been directly linked to Type 2 diabetes.

I've been having a similar problem to this. I've decided to stop being a fatty, after spending most of my life chugging Dr. Pepper like it's the elixir of life.

I haven't had anything carbonated in almost a month now. But it'd be nice to have an alternative beyond apple juice and water so that I don't quite have as much of an urge to grab a 24 pack every time I go to the store.

Honestly, I've been looking at just getting the diet. And as far as I can tell from the nutrition facts and ingredient list, it doesn't seem bad. But then some people keep saying it is, then other people say it isn't, then somebody else comes in with a poop joke and I close the whole thread.

So, who here knows what the hell is going on?

Flavored seltzer. I love it.

Minute maid isn't even lemonade, it has no juice. If you want real lemonade, make real lemonade. They even sell organic lemonade mix made of...lemons & sugar.
I make sport beverages out of watered down fruit juices. Some people think its nasty, but I've always though fruit juice is too concentrated & sweet in the first place.

Why do people buy pre-made tea? Tea is the cheapest beverage on the planet next to water. There is no substitute for freshly brewed tea. Putting tea in a bottle & letting it sit for 6 months is a crime.
