Sloppy work. All the researchers did was to conclude that the impact in the knees were higher, which is hard fact, no denying. Where they fucked up was taking people with a pre-existing condition, rheumatoid arthritis of the knees, and concluding that shoes were the culprit. Oh yea? Then what explains the existence of arthritis in other joints of the body? If they studied healthy individuals, and compared the two styles of walking and observed a correlation into the unhealthy condition, then their conclusion would be appropriate. The article is load with bias, which invalidates the research.
