Why do doctors recommend exercise and workouts be temporarily delayed when one is sick?

Because your body needs rest to fight the pathogens, and any exercise you do engage in is just going to be weak and unproductive on top of making your recovery time longer.

And also because fevers and increased blood flows to certain parts of the body (save the erection jokes for later) causes you to lose your sense of balance and generally feel dizzy.

If you are really sick, you would not be able to get out of the bed, never mind do exercise.

Then there's also the issue of being prescribed drowsy medications, or other medications that would inhibit your reflexes and response times.

Well I have fever in addition to a sore throat with coughs and cold. I feel alright, but I'm afraid I'm eating too much. :(

Yeah, somewhat anorexic thinking, even if I know it's untrue, but ... :V

I remember I had a cold/flu and I felt like shit but I still went to work out. I started sweating like a bitch and afterwards I felt better. It's like I got rid of my fever and everything. The next day, I was worse. Don't work out. Stay in bed and eat and drink water and get some sleep.

Your metabolism skyrockets when you're sick, cause your body spends a shit ton of energy fighting the infection. Have you ever heard of someone GAINING weight while they had the flu?

you started sweating because your body temperature was going back down (because you weren't sick anymore probably). i doubt it had anything to do with the fact that you started working
