Far left is me about a year ago...already after I'd put on around 10 pounds of muscle. I used to be around 125...the far left pic I'm around 135...and I'm around 5'9-10.

Middle left is me a few months later after more lifting very diligently...was going really good

Middle right is me about 6 months later after I hadn't been working out as often, only once, twice a week if I as lucky due to school and exams.

Far right is me today at around 140. At the beginning of summer I was working out and running very strictly and doing good. Lately however due to just taking the MCAT I haven't had much time to focus on lifting. I also hurt my knee a few weeks back that I need to go get looked at because after 200 meters my knee starts killing me, so my cardio has gone to shit too.

Just keep it up...I used to be really skinny. I always played soccer so was in pretty good shape, but just didn't have a lot of muscle. I'm also asian too so OP keep it up!

I'm just going to throw this out here. One month is nothing, but it is a good step. It shows you're starting to give it your all, and that if you keep with it, you'll get somewhere.

You have developed, it's just not a huge development. But it means you've got a foundation now. You've wrecked those muscles into becoming something useable, and now you can work on making them get bigger and stronger.

Month two and three are when you'll first get the "Oh shit. I look like I workout moments." Around month 6, you'll be starting to look like an athlete. Give it time, there's no race. Don't fret over protein and carbs, use your head and keep going.

Trust me, six months seems forever away, but keeping to your routine only gets easier from here. Good luck.

Haha. Well. I originally started working out because I'd moved to a new city, and I needed to get a job, but the search was going badly. I needed something to improve myself with when I had little money and everything else sucked.

I was a skinny fag and ate very little, it wasn't that I wasn't hungry, I just had a certain amount of money to spend on food or else I couldn't afford rent. Still, I went at my routine constantly. I didn't see huge gains, but I saw progress.

Eventually, I found a job, and started eating like I wanted too. etc, etc. But I don't forget that I started just pounding the floor and pavement, and that even if I wasn't eating 150 G of protein, it was making a difference. There are no excuses, except if it's a rest day. Then tell yourself you NEED to fucking do nothing.

I wondered when i'd get my first imposter :)

My workout looks like this:

day1 - chest/legs
day2 - back/shoulders
day3 - arms/legs
day4 - rest
day5 - rest
(back to day1)

I wont go into too much detail cos i dont have time but i focus heavily on compound exercises like squatz, deadlifts, T-bar rows etc etc. I go as heavy as i can for 4-5 sets of 8-12 reps depending on the exercise, for heavy compound stuff ill do 8 reps, when im curling of doing a shoulder press ill go to 12 reps if its more of an isolation exercise.

I also dont stop eating all day.
9:00 - 3 Oatabix + 1 banana (oatabix is like wheatabix, you may not have it in the US.
11:30 - tin of tuna + tomato
14:00 - meal replacement shake (whey+powdered oats)
16:30 - tin of tuna
17:30 - work out (1.5-2 hours)
19:00 - dinner of 3 large chicken breasts + brown rice or wholewheat pasta.
22:00 - whey protein shake.

Alot of people here preach on and on about 5x5 with heavy weigh. Did you find that doing that 4-5x10-12 contributes more to overall growth than doing say 3x10 with heavier weight?

Well as ive only been lifting for 3 months i cant really say that. What i would say is that ive tried 5X5 and ive tried 8X4 and 8X4 leaves you feeling a LOT more wiped out in my experience, even takign into account the heavier lifts you can do with 5X5.
