They are...

Do yourself a favor OP, buy a Power Rack. You can get it cheaper than whatever that machine is, and it will give a lot better results.

Meh, looks like u can pull of a lot more variety with the PHG1000 and i dont have the space for a power rack...

Does anyone think the PHG1000 can fold a bit so i have a bench to use.

Nothing gives you more variety than a barbell + dumbbells.
A squat rack takes up around the same space as that machine.

Try out a free weights before making your decision.

Indeed, with a power rack, a bench, a barbell and dumbbells you can basically do every exercise out there

Yup, and they are more effective, and probably cheaper if you look around on creigslist. The machine isnt going to give you results, and you will eventually give up. But its your choice.....

Ok so i'm looking on craigslist for "free weights" (why the fuck is it called a confusing name) and find one for $50. Is this a good deal/do i ask the seller any questions?

before you go to weight training you should get used to your own body weight, start doing push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, crunches and just getting a general balance in your body. Maybe I'm wrong but wouldn't you like to be strong and fit? just looking fit isn't enough sometimes.

lol grats on wastin $480.

Just do pushups and buy a bench press at a garage sale for $40 with weights included... that's what I use... and pushups are underrated I do like 100 every two days and bench every 3 days... and my pectorals have been steadily growing since.

Pushups are free

How is free weights a confusing term?
>> Anonymous
>>289418

Notice I said its a "small fraction" of $480...like less than 1/2 the price..

But yeah, i'm considering other things besides this now. Also, what is the difference between "fit" and "strong"? If strong basically maens your training just for visible muscles, whereas fit means your training to actually get healthier, then i'd like both.

>>289425

Because when I hear the term "free" i typically think the item in question is free: $0. Is there some standard for how many weights tehre are in a "free weight" system?
>> Anonymous
People strength train to get "strong"

Ever see a 6pack in a "Worlds Strongest Man" on ESPN?

>>289426
Strong is having great core strength and being able to support your own body weight in many levels, fit is when your muscles have recistance. Both are very different.

'Free' means unsupported.

I do everything, im just saying buying a $500 machine is gay as fuck.. if he wants pecs, use pushups and bench, the rest he should do also.

Eat healthy, stop when your satisfied with your body.

Both compliment each other. I would recomend you do both but start out doing weightless exercises such as Pushups, pulls ups, chin-ups, squats, one legged squats, diamond pushups and ect.

>Strong is having great core strength and being able to support your own body weight in many levels, fit is when your muscles have recistance.
Those are some twisted, useless and nonsensical definitions.
