I hate cardio. Can I get by and lose weight just doing resistance training? I cannot bring myself to do cardio. Yes I know they work best when done together, but it's still possible to get rid of the flab with weights alone, right? Please advise.

Of course you can lose fat just cutting back on your calorie intake.

Do HIIT. It is a WORLD apart from cardio, and it is arguably more effective at fat burning than cardio.

HIIT is cardio. I think you're confusing cardio with aerobic.

You're just looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear.

No.

To burn the kind of calories you need to, you must include some cardio. You'd be overtraining unless you were using AAS if you were burning that many calories through weights alone.

Don't listen to fat powerlifters on bodybuilding forums. Cardio will not eat up your muscle. Man up and do it.

cardio helps your lung and heart capacity, and other related endurance factors. It does also increase your metabolic rate, but compared to your Basal Metabolic Rate (energy your body uses to not be dead), it's a small fraction.

In terms of importance in shaping your body, I would say:
70% diet (not the quick-fix yo-yo diets, but eating healthy - going for a lot of protein, moderate fat and little carbs)
20% resistance training - to keep you from losing muscle mass while in caloric deficit
10% cardio - endurance related shit

As a side note, have you heard of John Stone? The guy did quite a transformation with nothing but diet and training. Short timelapse video:

His forums are a good place to get some general information for no-stimulant fitness.

LOSING WEIGHT IS NOT FUN
CARDIO IS NOT EASY
MAN UP OR STAY FAT, FATTY

If you 'cannot' do cardio then you probably desperately need to do cardio. The answer is not ceasing cardio exercise. Reduce intensity and stay the course. You probably did too much too soon.

Cardio is not necessary but will make things faster.
It IS a necessity when going for <10% BF though.

Cardio is important because it works the most important muscle of all in your body, the heart. The stronger your heart is, the longer you will live and you will live better. While other people grow old and get fat and pathetic, you can be fit and live long but still enjoy life.

Man up and do some cardio.

That is incorrect. John Stone did HIIT, which is probably the most intense form of cardio there is.

Technically they're in the same bracket, but there's a HUGE difference (to me) between a prolonged slow burn (boring) and pushing yourself to the limit.

I can probably sprint for almost as long as I can jog only because I get so profoundly bored while jogging that I'm aware of every minor speck of discomfort, and I burn out almost instantly.

You need to do intense, explosive cardio for real weight loss. Btw, those first 10 pounds don't even count. Probably just water weight.

No pain no gain.

I do three, daily :)

Two hours in the morning, one hour in the evening. Low intensity though, obviously. But it's the only thing that works for me. I've tried HIIT, I've tried traditional cardio, nothing else works for me except LISS.

And before anyone asks, that stands for Low Intensity Steady State (cardio).
