K, so I've heard all this bullshit nigra ranting about starvation diets and ZOMG ULL GAIN IT ALL BACK.

If you eat 800cals a day and you need 2200 to maintain until you reach goal weight, and then upon reaching goal weight work back to your maintenance for that weight (note: not the maintenance for the fatteh weight) won't you just keep your same weight, or at the wost just gain like 1 or 2 lbs for a tad?

nah man, there's something to it. if you do it over and over, at least. i've been doing stupid eatnothing diets since i was a kid, and every time its harder to lose the weight. there's something to the rumor that it fucks with your metabolism as yer body psyches itself up for starvation. also, they did controlled studies during ww2 where they locked ppl up and monitored their food, starved them then let them eat til they felt satisfied and the dudes all kept eating moar cals than when they started even months after the end of the experiment.

But like

If you ate 800 cals/day to lose the weight, then say you needed like 2,000cals to maintain at that weight... and you eat on a daily basis 1800-2000 calories, how would you gain weight? I only see it as being possible if you ate like 2500+ every day.

it lowers your metabolism, and you'll lose a lot of muscle mass, which also decreases metabolism. so your maintenance will be much lower then 1800-2000. when you've lost muscle mass, you're not going to gain it back without eating over maintenance.

that said, do it. i think if you think starvation is a good way to lose weight, fucking do it. once you're skinny but look like shit with your clothes off because theres no muscle under the fat you've got left, maybe you'll see why its not a good idea.

i see. maybe if you're super careful about calorie intake after you've restricted, but it's over 9000x harder and you have to watch it for months-years or else you just start over again.

Welllllllllllllllllll

The plan would be to cut all the fat off at once and then rebuil the muscle, so that won't be an issue.

I'm not asking for your diatribe about 6pack vs thin, I'm just asking is there a flaw with the plan to cut the 30lbs fast, then go back to normal eating with lifting in order to gain muscle with a lower body fat %.

Problems?

building muscle is 1000 times more difficult then losing fat. at BEST (meaning: flawless diet, flawless exercise plan and form, on top of that good genetics) you'll gain around 2 pounds of muscle a month. most people will gain much less then that in actual lean mass. you will plateau, and you will gain fat in the process.

starving yourself, you'll lose a good portion of the weight in muscle mass instead of fat (i don't know exact percents).

on top of that, the reason people immediately blow up again after starvation type diets is that fat cells don't go away. you can always make more if them but the ones you've got will always be there. they empty out like little plastic bags when you burn the fat that was in them but they stick around and are waiting to be filled with fat again (for the next time you decide to starve yourself) this is why its easier for people who were fat to become fat again.

lol you were anorexic but now you're a fat fuck? good job loser. you obviously know what you're talking about when it comes to weight loss.

Stop counting ur cals and just exercise + eat alot its really not that hard.

According to my sister's med science friends, you body developes a sort of "memory' of what weight to remain at. If you're negligent parents make you fat for the first 15 years of your life, you've got to spend years fighting weight gain before your body changes its target weight.

I'm not an expert like them, but I suppose the possibility exists that the body mightn't care if you're heavy in fat or muscle. Try and find an expert who doesn't have anything to gain from telling you one way or another.

Also, be aware that even though you can lose fat very fast, building muscle takes time.

diets slow your metabolism and cause your muscles to atrophy, making your body a higher fatty %, anyone who does it is fucking stupid.

Eating HEALTHY is more important than limiting caloric intake
