Recently, when I do situps I have noticed my coccyx rolls on the floor and causes me intense pain.

What should I do about this? Any ideas as to why my coccyx could even come into contact with the ground?

pic related, my face when I do situps.

I have the exact same problem. some people have it as a result of an injury or were just born that way. use a mat or a pillow or something. also, I've heard (here on /fit/) that crunches > situps so just do those.

You just wanted to say coccyx didn't you? lol.

Anyway, use a mat. But just to be safe look at your ass in a mirror and see if anything is unusual. Even if everything looks in order feel around for anything unusual like a lump or hard node. Pain and tenderness in and around the tailbone can be the result of a pilonidal cyst or even worse a sacrococcygeal teratoma. Chances are you're just boney but better safe than ass cancered to death.

Also I think chiropractic therapy is a bunch of quackery but people swear by it so I'll share this: http://www.coccyx.org/personal/2003/brenda.htm

I have this same problem and it started when I lost a lot of weight. My ass is a lot smaller and there is no fat around there to protect it. I tried laying down folded towels as a mat but it was still uncomfortable. I just quit doing situps.
