I'm a lazy motherfucker, but I've decided to lose weight recently since I let myself get fat. I've never used exercise as a tool for weight loss, just limit my calorie intake. Is this harmful?

Limiting your caloric intake is good for you, but for optimal weight loss, i'd suggest AT LEAST lifting a bit of weight 2 times a week, or jogging/walking for 3.

YES EXERCISE IS HARMFUL WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T DO IT

aerobic>lifting for weight loss
also lifting /=/ heart health like aerobic does

imo get healthy with aerobic then decide if you want muscles
muscles aren't necessary for happiness

yeah this is wrong. the reason for weight training while losing is weight is to limit the amount of muscle you lose with the fat, and as we all know, muscle burns more calories then fat does, so the more muscle you lose the slower your metabolism.

is an overplayed statistic

OP, it's not unhealthy so long as you do some moving every day... honestly, most people don't care to be in great shape or have any real measure of strength... w/e is my response...

really? wanna give me a source on weight training isn't effective for losing fat? because coupled with proper diet, weight training is more important than the cardio for losing weight

you mean losing fat without losing muscle... a pound of muscle burns about 50 calories per day... not much... all I'm saying is that OP doesn't *need* to lift weights or engage in any sort of power oriented actions... what he's doing isn't going to kill him (or harm him)...
hell, *I* don't lift weights... I know how, and I suggest it as a healthy thing to do, but it's not necessary (especially in my case, as practicing my sport is more time efficient for improving in my sport than lifting weights)

>a pound of muscle burns about 50 calories per day... not much

that isn't much? 10-15 pounds = 500-750 calories. When the typical person is supposed to eat about 2-2.5k calories daily, burning an extra 750 is a LOT.
