Newfag on /fit/ here.
Recently I've decided to try and lose some weight and I have absolutely no idea how to do an good job of it. I've gone to gyms before for months to no avail. My eating habits are pretty good, I normally eat more carbs then anything, but I never eat junk food, and my proteins are from lean meats to nuts and soy. Basically on one of those 'good liver' diets. I normally jog/run once a day for 30 mins.
Anyway, I weigh 150, I'm 5''6, female, and I can't seem to lose anymore weight then I already have. Oh yeah, I'm trying to reach the goal of possibly 115-120, which I think is somewhat realistic in terms of my height and all...
Pic unrelated, but totally awesome.

diet and exercise more.

diet doesnt always work.

Try to build up your metabolism. Eat 6 small meals a day, and mainly count your calories.

I think you'll need around 1800 calories a day.

maybe try pumping up what you are doing. Instead of run/jogging just running the whole time. Do some lifting to convert fat ==> muscle.

good ol' fat to muscle conversion.

next step is water to wine, then to level up, dirt to gold.

ssshhh you'll let the secret out that this actually happens. Unless you think that its magic.... also yes, lipids cannot become muscle tissue, but the energy stored in them can be used to grow muscle o.O see what i did that... fat to muscle....

That and my point still stands. If you hit a wall you have to change things up, personally I try to make it more intense.

No one with an ounce of sense would call that converting fat to muscle.

If you want to increase the output of your exercises, you need to switch it up, and intensify. For example, I suggest doing some interval training, instead of straight up jogging/running. Also, try dealing with your carbs better (i.e. switch from white bread to whole wheat for).
Keep at it, and don't forget to treat yourself for your efforts.

semantics, if your going to be picky about what exactly fat is, I thing that fat is the energy because fat is a way to store energy and the energy is used to make muscle so the fat is the basis to make muscle, fat becomes muscle.

Really it doesn't matter as long as the point goes across. Build muscle, fat should go away(or at least lessen) In the end the fat goes away and muscle is formed </stupid argument>.

So, you think I should keep it at 1800-2000 calories a day? But whenever I work out (like at the gym for example) those machines tell me after doing a 30 minute bike ride on 7/10 difficulty I only lost 200 calories T_T;; And I know you need to lose more then you gain.. So how the heck am I suppose to do that? Besides going anorexic and not gaining any to little calories...

try eating eat about 80% of what you normally eat, but when your about to eat dinner eat 100% whole grain bread with extra virgin olive oil before hand. The whole grain bread will have the minerals and vitamins plus the fiber we need. the olive oil will slow the food traveling in your body during the digestion process so your body will absorb as much out energy and whatever out of the food.

PS. NO GIRLS ON THE INTERNET

try increasing the workload. Also realize those are estimates

What the hell are you babbling about? There is no physiological process that turns adipose tissue to muscle tissue.
You're wrong, just give it up.

eat 300 calories of food every three hours instead. Look for a calorie food chart so you can balance your diet!~

alright fucker, seeing as you refuse to see my point. That point is that yes I know that it tissue does not literally become muscle tissue but the idea is that it fucking goes away and through magic muscle is formed, are you fucking happy. end result, -fat +muscle. are you happy? What I said first was wrong, it doesn't fucking LITERALLY become muscle. I was trying to be abstract but it clearly went over your head. Tougher workout = more fat burned so the body has energy. It will also use energy so that muscle can be build so that that same workout will be less tough on the body later. There that is basically all I meant. God damn, it was a bad use of language alright. fucking hell

If you hadn't so ardently defended your stupid comment in the first place we wouldn't have persisted on calling you out on it. Chill out dude.
