So does acupuncture actually work or is it pseudoscience? My mom (inb4underageb&) wants me to get it to help my allergies, and I personally think it's fucking stupid. Am I wrong?

If it works at all then it might work for pain. The thing is it's hard to study in scientific terms because you can't give an acupuncture placebo.

I remember seeing on the news that there was some scientific evidence of acupuncture working, although it was only tested in a specific circumstance for a specific illness. There's such a wide variety of applications, it would be like saying all surgeries are useless.

You're better off just getting some Allegra or Claritin.

Lol, you'll be surprised to know that what people claim acupuncture cures often has nothing to do with what acupuncture was originally billed to cure.
In the olden days of Asia, acupuncture was used to treat pains and fevers. Presumably, it worked in the same way bruising yourself on one hand made you forget about all your mosquito bites.

It has nothing to do with allergies. If your mum has the money to spend on that shit, get her to spend it on actual immunotherapy. Depending on most allergies, all you'll need is a daily innoculation of allergens until you are cured of it.

it works, but it's temporary relief.

it's not a magic cure, you have to combine it with diet & lifestyle changes esp. for something like allergies.

give it a shot before you load up on pills.

Every time some western bitch gets stung with an acupuncture needle for money, some chink laughs himself to death.
Greatest scam of all time.

If you think it works it works. If not it doesn't.

The only thing it will actually help you with is your fear of needles and even that is debatable.

yeah you can, put the needles in places where they're not supposed to do what the subject thinks they're supposed to do

eg if curing headcold means needles on the ass, then say HEY DUDE LOL I'M CURING YOUR HEADCOLD but put needles on his forehead
