Dear /fit/, I want to stop being fat and disgusting so that for the first time in over 12 years I can get through a day without thinking about how much I hate myself. Within my limitations, how would I best achieve this?

-I'm an extremely picky eater and I can't help it. Change of diet is not really an option. I eat mostly pizza and I take multivitamins when I remember to. If you think it's really important to eat something specific go ahead and throw it out there in the off-chance it might be something doable for me, but in general I don't eat very healthy and that's not going to change.

-I only have a few shitty dumbbells and a very small apartment. Things like gyms and running are completely out of the question, because then people would see my gelatinous mass jiggling all over. I can't do any exercise that involves anything less than 100% complete privacy. If there's even a CHANCE that one human being MIGHT be able to see me it's a no go. I know I'm fucked up that's why I'm trying to lose weight. Willing to buy more equipment if I have to but my funds are limited and my apartment is very, very small.

-I don't want to lose muscle also otherwise I'd just starve myself for a month or two and save some money and effort. I already have pretty respectable fat guy strength from my muscles laboring to support my incredible bulk everyday and I'd like to increase that in the future once I solve my more pressing problems.

Eat in moderation... so you eat pizza - stop at 2 pieces rather than eating 4.

Instead of drinking coke with your pizza, drink water.

Sleep 8 hrs a day.

There are a lot of exercises you can do with a few small dumbbells.

I lost 50 lbs by eating lots and lots of cereal bars and yogurt. Try smoothies? Eat lots of fruit? Though they might not be the best thing for losing weight, it is better than a bag of potato chips.

The people who say you NEED to eat salads and go to the gym are morons. Don't listen to them. If you're already very overwieght/obese it's pretty easy to shed pounds just by cutting back on your food intake and adding in a half-hour of something easy and private like DDR, jogging in place, Tae Bo, whatever...

I lost 40 pounds in two months just by cutting back my eating from 2300 cal a day to 1600, and DDRing every other day.

Lift those little weights a few times a day to build some muscle mass, muscle burns calories better than fat does. Start a food diary and record how many calories you actually eat in a day (don't forget drinks!) and cut out about 500 of them. If you like cereal get something high-fiber, they're not all disgusting cardboard shit and it'll help fill you up.

The biggest thing for me was cutting out all the calories I drank. Milk was a killer, because I don't like the fatfree shit.

1. Start counting calories. Start at 1500 and space your meals. If you really feel you need more than 2500 calories a day then you have an eating disorder or are a lumberjack. Exercise is simple. Any movement that will make you sweat is adequate. Weight loss is extremely easy if you boil it down to base science. I like some of the plainer cereals. Corn flakes, cheerios, rice krispies. Are Cheerios good on fiber? Seriously, OP, I used to be in your shoes. I ate nothing but poptarts and ice cream and cheese sandwiches growing up. Even though I didn't eat "a lot"--and usually only ate once a day--I was a 5'8" 200 lb fem-whale. When I went off to college, I said "fuck this shit!" and started eating healthy. I gagged at first. But I stuck with it. And now I'm a smokin' 5'8" 125 lb not-whale. But even more importantly, I LOVE healthy food and couldn't imagine going a day without it!

This is how it is, OP. You can either take it or leave it. If you don't want to change badly enough to overcome your addiction to junk, then we can't really help you.

If you like fruit, I would suggest buying shit like plums and apricots and bananas. Things that are easy to prepare. DOn't get oranges because when you reach for a snack you're not going to want to peel or slice a bunch of shit.

You're probably not OVEReating if you're maintaining a steady weight, but unless you're actually losing weight even without exercising you're probably eating too much. Food journals are really great for figuring out where to cut back. I honestly thought I was eating about 1700cal a day until I really started recording everything, and I realized I was way over that.

I don't know about Cheerios, but I know there are several types of chex-type things that are high-fiber. I would suggest just looking around the cereal aisle the next time you go to the store.

As for exercises, my regimen started as 5 push-ups, 20 crunches, 20 bicep curl thingies, 20 tricep pull thingies, and jogging in place. I'm now up to 15 push-ups and 60 crunches, and I've added in 30 squats. I don't have many weights, and I'm really shy, so walking and the gym wasn't really an option for me. Punching bags are great for aerobic stuff, but strength building exercises are what you want to aim for. Building muscle burns calories, but it also makes you look less flabby even if you don't lose much fat.

If you can't quite the soda cold turkey, try and limit yourself to one every two days and start guzzling water. If you scale back over the course of a month it'll make the cravings much more bearable and you won't crash quite so hard when you haven't had your sugar and caffeine dose.

I can switch to eating some fruits and cereals and pasta and bread, and supplementing with multivitamins or whatever, I just can't go much further than that. I can't do the go for broke health diet that would be really helpful in losing weight and gaining muscles. It's not that I don't believe it's worth it, I just can't do nuts and meats and most vegetables and shit. I know you don't believe me when I say I "can't", but really, I can't. Um, yeah, pizza is usually pretty bad unless you make it yourself with with a whole wheat crust, load on the veggies, and drastically cut down on cheese/use lowfat cheese. Many calorie counters say that 1 slice = 200 calories or so, but in my personal experience it's more like 400-500 because people get extra cheese and get xbox huge slices.

OP, I don't know what more to tell you. Obviously the diet that you're on right now isn't working for you. You can try tracking what you eat on FitDay and just cut down on the quantity of stuff that you eat. You'll lose weight, though you'll also probably be malnourished, undermuscled, and not significantly reduce your risk of various diseases as a result. But if you cut down on the amount and count calories, you'll lose weight. Is that what you want to hear?

Plain pizza slices, normal sized, no extra cheese or any toppings. A normal day would be a slice soon after I wake up, another slice ~5 hours after that, and a third after another ~5 hours. Pure estimate but my dad was about my height and bigger than me when he died, and he was like 280, so I'd estimate somewhere in the 250-270 range. Don't have a scale. Not really obese but definitely quite fat. If the fat distribution matters any, I have a frontward protruding stomach and cartoonishly massive thighs. Small tits, A-cup max and nothing really sticking out the sides.
Around 6'1", maybe a few inches more. A little over 6 feet for sure but again I don't know exactly.
No real disabilities, but I had chronic bronchitis so my lungs might not be so good. I don't smoke or anything though and I haven't gotten bronchitis in a few years.

Basically you need to get out there and try as hard as you possibly can so that the next time they see you, they see a big improvement. I'm willing to bet you've never had a proper cooked meal other than going to a restaurant, food isn't just veg and meat, veg and meat. Things get mixed together and you can't even taste the veg. Hell, I just had Bacon and pasta, had all sorts of vegetable mixed in which adds to the texture of the whole thing but you could hardly taste it because it's mixed in with all the food and sauce.

That's a second thing, you can't get fit eating shit that's not real. Again things like pizza which are just "open packaging, put in oven, done".

Step 3, you can't run outside? The people you see outside you will see for about 10 seconds max assuming you run at snails pace since you're so fat, then you'll never see them again in your life. So just do it, and even after those 10 seconds it's not an important event to them so as soon as you've left they'll have forgotten it! Just run, no one cares honestly.

If you don't want to run, then walk. Walking is one of the best methods of losing weight when you're a fat fuck, just walk and that's it. No running, just walk everywhere and walk a lot. Everyday go for a walk, no one will even know you're trying to exercise, which is a way is worse than running as with running at least they know you're trying to do something about it.

If you can't walk as you don't want to be seen at all, in your apartment jog on the spot. Simple, no one will have to see. Make sure to keep a window open and have a drink ready though as otherwise you'll get pretty hot pretty quickly, even if it is a cold day.

There you go, even someone with messed up standards such as yourself can still lose weight, except for your eating. If you don't change that slightly it will just be impossible to lose weight, end of.

Have you tried every vegetable? I thought not, because a lot are actually really nice on their own. Peppers for example, red, green, yellow, orange peppers, all really nice and they don't even need to be cooked.

I understand now that my mistake was offering up too much information. You're ignoring my "problems" because to you they're "problems", and to me they're problems. But anyway, comprehensive list of stuff I normally eat, okay. Plain pizza, french fries (like home made ones made from potatoes best, but they're the most work, no ketchup or anything just some salt), pasta (no sauce or cheese, bit of salt), those frozen soft pretzels, plain toasted white bread, corn flakes, rice krispies, and cheerios, a variety of junk food that I won't list in totality because it all needs to be cut out but saltines, Utz plain potato chips, pretzel nuggets, Ritz Bitz with cheese, etc. That's more or less it for what I eat regularly. Stuff that I eat much more infrequently but CAN eat would be some of the healthier stuff like some fruit and when I was a young child I had some bacon... well nothing else really nutritionally significant, I think, but waffles, other bread products (which seems to be a bit /fit/ no-no), some other shit I can't think of. Shakes are a possibility because drinks are considerably easier than food, for example while I find the idea of V8 juice absolutely vile I can probably force myself to chug it with only a small chance of puking. Also that whey powder stuff should be easy. Any supplements like pills or powders should be very easy. I can try to force some vegetables on myself but the possibility is slim.

Step One: Buy protein powder. I go here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/whey.html Consume 5 shakes throughout the day. Pick any flavor you want, mix with water, enjoy, they're actually not too bad.

Step two: Allow yourself up to 800 calories of shit food for dinner. Pizza, pasta, cheerios, I don't care. It's all nutritionally bankrupt, so pick your poison.

Step Three: Exercise continuously for at least 60 minutes a day (can be broken up into 15 or 30 minute segments) in whatever manner you're comfortable with. Jump rope, walking around apartment, push-ups, squats, etc. Just get your heart-rate up.

That's it. It's not ideal, and you'll probably feel like shit very quickly. But it'll work, and since you don't care about actually being healthy, I guess it's fine.

For pizza (if homemade) replace dough with tortilla pad, use 50% less cheese and pile on the veggies. For homemade fries, don't you dare use oil to cook them, just microwave then stick them in the oven.

Otherwise, attempt doing burpee’s, jumping jacks, shadow boxing, basically anything to get your heart going and to keep it going for 20+ min. Go to the store and buy some more free weights, best would be the adjustable ones with some 10, 15 and 25 pound disks. Also, get yourself a good pair of workout shoes to keep the stress off your legs while you’re moving about.

Once those activities get you in relative shape, start doing 1 armed push ups and pistols.

I don't think you need to worry about building muscle if you're truly that massive. It takes muscle to haul around mass, so you've probably got enough of it underneath all that fat. Just focus on cardio and some pushups/squatz/other bodyweight exercises...with the shake diet above, it'll be enough to maintain most of what you've already got. You can focus on building more later, if you want.

I also think you should focus on expanding your diet. People here aren't pissed off because you're a picky eater, but because you're outright refusing to work on it. If it means anything to you as far as estimating my muscle, a few years back I benched 200 pounds first try on a friend's bowflex or something machine. Of course I don't know if that even counts as really 200 pounds since it was that resistance shit rather than real weights, but whatever. And my legs are fucking tree trunks, I can easily do at least 500 on a leg press and I would estimate I could push it up over 700 before I started running into problems.

If anyone here's actually read all my posts here (admittedly there are a lot and they tend towards tl;dr) I have mentioned that I will do fruits, can try certain vegetables and that vile V8 stuff, and I can try to force some of the healthier versions of bread and such on myself (wholewheat right?). If you want to suggest specific cereals and such things that are healthy, I will try those too. Like how the commercials say that Special K shit is filled with a billion vitamins and it shouldn't be much harder for me than bad corn flakes. There are some things that absolutely will never happen, though, like I can't even be in the vicinity of Chinese food without getting nauseous, and even if I could make myself like meat I wouldn't. Building (and maintaining) muslce requires protein.
If all you eat is what you listed, the only protein you get is a minimal amount from the cheese in your pizza and I guess whey supplements. Unfortuantley, whey isn't a complete protein, so you're going to have to add SOME meat or nuts to your diet if you want your muscles to grow.

Just one food from that list to add to your diet. I know you can add Whole grain or Oats or one of the healthy grain products since they're so similar to white flour. Even if you replaced your whole diet with whole wheat equivalents of the same foods, that's an amazing start.
Eventually, maybe, you can work up to eating some of the other things in other lists? As hard as it may seem, as impossible as you keep telling yourself it is, I think you can do it.

One way to get things to down easier is to blend them. If you can down a V8, then DO THAT (I sure as hell can't, so kudos to you if you can).. it's better than no veggies. Eventually you might discover a mix of stuff you can handle in a blended smoothie/shake drink, and then you can experiment adding more things to hide in there.

For instance, I don't really like carrots, but in the right smoothie, they're absolutley tasteless and you get the goodness from them anyways.

Oh yeah, avoid the Sweeteners list for this until you can eat a healthy, balanced diet.

I did mention a few, albeit I stated I eat them very infrequently. Specifically apples, bananas, oranges are fine and fruits are easier for me to force on myself than most other things. I'm also going to try vegetables, at least through liquids.

you don't need to dramatically change the foods that you like in order to lose weight. if you're sitting at a constant plateau when it comes to your weight (ie you aren't going up and down constantly), all you need to do is reduce the amount you're eating.

less calories in + more calories out = calorie deficit = weight loss.

OP you obviously don't really want to lose weight, and have no understanding of the human body and its functions. The only reason this topic has got this far is the amount of RAGE you have triggered in the people who work hard at staying fit, when its difficult in their every day situations.

If you learnt about nutrition (you can do this through the internet, you don't even need to leave the house to do it), and got over your bullshit self diagnosed eating disorder which is basically a glorified "I don't like it, I'm not eating it". Count calories if you have to and use your spare time learning what foods you like, or can tolerate and how to healthily cook them, and gradually broadening your palette. Start off slow, because its a slow process and you need to be able to stick it out.

No one seeing you on the street is going to judge you that much. People that do will be little more than brief passer bys and if its clear you are exercising a lot of people will respect you for it. I have a bias against fat people, but when I see someone overweight at the gym, or running, I truly respect them.

Now you've already cited that you have a self image problem, you lack confidence and you are clearly unhappy. You also come across as a lazy buffoon incapable of effort, so if you are going to actually succeed at this you need to build your character as well. Even if you get in shape, you won't instantly feel like a better person, but the process of doing so will build your character such that you will actually BE a better person.

tl;dr- Stop looking for an easy way to do it, there isn't one that won't be detrimental to your health and make you feel a better person. Nutrition is important, and multivitamins and empty calories don't cut it. Man up.

You could try protein shakes, but you don't want to drink most of your food. Perhaps try some white fish to break into eating meat. WHite fish is pretty flavorless and harmless tasting, cod is flaky, you could mix it into mash taters and not even know it was there.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, OP, and pretend you have some unknown variant of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. To be frank, you're going to have to completely scrap your current diet, that shit won't fly. Don't touch pizza, pasta, chips, crackers, NOTHING that you listed earlier for the rest of your life. If you can stomach oatmeal, eat an xbox hueg bowl of that every morning for breakfast. If you absolutely must, you can add some pure applesauce or a TINY bit of brown sugar to it to add some flavor. If not, all meals will be grilled cheese. Buy some nasty ass wholegrain bread, if it tastes good it probably isn't the kind you need, and some low fat cheese(I myself use light Jarlsberg swiss), and grill that son of a bitch without any butter. Eat three(four if you can't eat the oatmeal) of those a day. Find a good smoothie combo that you can choke down and use that to get your vitamins. If you have to find a jamba juice near by and drink two a day, though this method will get really fucking expensive. Make sure to add in wheat grass and carrots and all that disgusting crap to your shakes. If you can handle V8, you're a better man than I am and that'll probably work fine as well. As for exercise, jump roping works very well if you can keep it up for at least an hour without stopping. Do you live in an urban area, suburban? There are always exercise options, you just have to be creative. Cardio is what you need for weight loss, just messing around with freeweights won't do anything for you.

There's this one pudgy Asian guy who frequents the gym I go to and I've seen him go down in size for the past few months, and we usually go at the same time so he's pretty consistent and works hard. He's the kind of guy I think to myself "good for him!" and inspires myself to work harder.

One year ago I was an insecure fatass until I decided that enough was enough. I changed my diet, exercise habits and mindset and stuck with it until it became a PERMANENT part of my lifestyle.

Yes it sucked at first. Yes it was worth every goddamn day of hurt and frustration.

1 year down the line I've lost 18kg(20%) off my starting bodyweight and am now at the ideal weight range for my height (72kg at 5'10"). My RHR has dropped from being consistently above 70 to below 60. Physically I have gone from being uncomfortable, unconfident and embarrassed to run my neighborhood roads as the jiggly guy to feeling fucking fantastic after a HIIT. I'm still working on peak fitness and making changes.

And you're still here whining about your COMFORT ZONE? Listen good;

-Change your diet or die fat.
-Exercise in the public eye and get used to it or die fat.
-Stop worrying about 'losing muscle' and all that other idiocy you're so inappropriately concerned with and keep telling yourself to make you feel better about being a fatass. You'd rather save a dime than make a dollar and you goddamned well know it.
