hey /fit/, how long does it take muscle to atrophy?

I haven't been lifting in a month due to an injury to my AC joint so I started cutting early. I've significantly reduced caloric intake to under 2000 (usually 1400-1900) and have been doing cardio, but I'm worried about how long I should wait to start lifting again. I'm afraid that the lack of food and no lifting will get rid of the bit of muscle I worked so hard to gain during my bulking. should I be worried?

Why are you reducing your fucking calorie intake? Keep a diet that is similar to your lifting diet, including protein shakes on certain days at certain times, if you were doing this before.

bulking and cutting. I was skinny before lifting. I bulked and ate 3000-4000 calories a day while lifting. I get a good deal stronger, but have also become 'skinny fat.' in order to lose this I must cut fat out. do you have any suggestions to how I should go about this without restricting diet? how about an answer to the question?

Week and a half to two weeks.

muscles are almost constantly being used for fuel in your body, if you restricted your diet the body does two things it burns muscle fiber and fat. The mixture of muscle burnt vs fat burnt differs because of many factors but the fuel of choice is muscle fiber since it the easiest to use.

VERY relevant to my interest. I'm 210, 5'11''. Target weight is 180. I haven't lifted in 3 weeks due to a wrist injury. Probably will not be able to lift for another 2-3 weeks. I've been doing cardio (HIIT, biking, treadmill, walking). I've lessened the protein intake (since I'm not "rebuilding" muscle), and increased my complex carb intake. I'm still losing about a lb a week, but am afraid its muscle and not fat. Discuss please.

is great advice

but honestly, WHAT DO YOU THINK? since this board is full on opinionated faggots, give yours.

OP
1. stopped training (good bye specific adaptions to imposed demands)
2. body DOES NOT WANT metabolically expensive muscle tissue that isnt being aggressively used (even in maintenance caloric environ)
3. OP CUT CALORIES!

this isnt rocket science.

the rate of atrophy is too highly dependent on individual constraints, genetic factors, training history, etc to assess online
