Is fish really dangerous if consumed often? Anonymous
Sup /fit/

I've been trying to eat healthier lately and have been trying out different types of fish. They taste a lot better than most meats I prepare and are bit cheaper.

However, I read that you should only consume two portions per week due to mercury poisoning. My question is if I consume more will I recall get sick? I mean our meat products are just as bad... The animals are often very sickly and fed steroids.

It's not really about eating too much... just too much of some fish that have high mercury content. Basically, the higher up a fish is on the food chain, the more mercury that fish is likely to have. So maybe stick with smaller fish to?

Personally I can't stand fish. Everytime I eat fish I hate it. The flavor is usually okay, although a little mild for my taste, but I can't stand the texture. I know fish is supposed to fall apart in moist flakes but that's exactly what I hate about it! I want to chew my food a little dammit. D:

Thanks for the link.

I wouldn't sweat it. Maybe throw in some chicken here and there to break things up.

Just out of curiosity, what types of fish do you like and how do you fix them? I also love fish but for some reason I rarely fix it for myself. I'm going to start, I think.

Tuna has alot of chemicals in it, so don't eat too much of it. Salmon is good though.

The Icelanders are the LONGEST LIVING PEOPLE ON EARTH. They even beat out that one crazy Japanese sect of people who live forever.

One of their secrets to living so long is eating fish, every day.

And even then, the Japanese secret to long life is a fish intensive diet too.

What about salmon patties? Are those good or unhealthy?

It's just the super mercury fish that you shouldn't eat all the time. That means tuna and a few Mexican fish.

Once or twice a week is fine. There are plenty of other fish to eat too.

According to scientists the ocean will be unfarmable within the next 3 years because of overconsumption.

I've heard fish grown from fish farms aren't as nutritious. Can anyone verify?

depends on the quality of the first farm.
