Greetings /fit/,

I'm a fatass and I decided to lose weight back in April, and have been pretty successful so far. I've joined a gym, stopped drinking soda, and have eaten healthier and with much more moderation. I started at 284, and am currently 226.

However, I have been 226 for a month now, and it seems as if I've hit one of these dreaded plateaus I hear people here talking about. I haven't changed anything, and still go to the gym as much as I have always been. What do you recommend I do to continue losing weight?

My current routine consists of 30-45 mins. cardio (usually elliptical) and then about 30 minutes of lifting, alternating muscle groups worked daily.

tldr; help me i hit a plateau and dont know what to do

Do your cardio after weightlifting, and expand your weightlifting to 45-50 minute sessions. You may want to get a caliper test to determine where you are at right now with regards to body fat %, but whatev's. Do you want to keep losing weight, or do you want to gain some muscle?

I'd like to get down to around 190 before anything else. I'm trying not to lose any muscle though, but losing weight is my main goal.

Why not forget about your weight entirely and focus on your body fat percentage? I mean it. Don't weigh yourself.

Tread mill now since you don't weigh as much and try starting out on 7.0, if thats too much try 6.5
