Music while working out? Anonymous
My gym plays horrible, horrible top 40 shit constantly. I can't stand it.

I have a shitty cheap mp3 player, problem is.... the headphones are too small and fall out of my ears while im running, and the head phone jack is smaller than regular headphone inputs, so getting better headphones is out.

I'm thinking about grabbing a better mp3 player, or perhaps an ipod shuffle?? Only $50 but it lacks any functionality... I figure it kind of suits my needs though.

Anyway, what do you guys listen to music with while working out... and do you have any suggestions for me?

I usually listen to most subgenres of metal and stuff, progressive, hardcore, melodic, etc. That stuff float your boat?

I realized that the majority of songs on my workout playlist all have almost exactly the same tempo, despite being from some very different genres.

being an old band-fag I guess i subconsciously like to run in step with my music. I did find recently however that I wasn't getting much faster because of it and had to completely overhaul what I listen too. I saw dramatic changes in running speed. That's something to watch out for.

I'm pretty sure there's an mp3 player thread on /g/ if you're interested in buying a new one. I use a nano personally, but I'm not by any means going to tell you it's the best player out there because i simply don't know. I like it because it's super light. I.e. if I drop it the headphones in my ears (the earbuds that came with it mind you) are sufficient to keep it from hitting the ground. It gives me a rather uncomfortable tug on my ears mind you, but it's saved me from dropping it during workouts several times (I put it in my pocket, I don't have one of those gay armbands)

Buy new headphones? Though the ones that come with the iPod are the best I've tried.

I listen to rock and metal mostly...I have to listen to loud hard stuff or either don't concentrate on the music.

All you need is an adaptor so that normal sized headphones fit. It will cost you next to nothing on ebay.

I have these headphones and they are GREAT. They will never, ever fall out. They are specially designed for running.
They are dead cheap and sound great.
(Sennheiser PMX70, by the way)
