So I started working out in October because I decided I was tired being fat. I have changed my diet completely and exercise at least 4 times a week. I have lost about 33 pounds to date but I'm struggling with losing the rest of my fat on my gut, pecs, and lovehandles. I am down to 174 so it's not like I'm still 200 some pounds. There's just a bit left that I'm having trouble getting rid of. What types of exercises would be the best to get rid of this extra fat? I do a bunch of situps until I can't physically do them anymore and I don't get sore so I don't think they're really doing anything. I'm a noob at working out but my typical routine includes some sort of chest exercise, whether it's bench or a chest press, situps, and then running at least a mile. Any help is appreciated! thanks. Pic kinda related.

sounds to me like youve hit a plateau. You probably just need to up your cardio a shit-ton, like more than you would ever think necessary. start really focusing on your portions and more importantly what youre actually eating. basically step up your game hardcore, beat the shit out of yourself.

you can't target fat loss, so don't try. Just do more running/cycling/swimming or whatever.

Yea I'm really watching what I eat like recording all calories and stuff. I'm using FitDay to see how many calories I should eat. So basically step up the cardio and not as much lifting? just major cardio and watching intake? Thanks for the advice!

running is good but it will have a negative impact on your joints in the future. the best cardio exercise I've found is just shadow boxing with a punching bag, just keep hitting with moderate force (so you don't hurt your wrists) and keep moving around. in 20 mins you'll be sweating like a pig

Yea I have heard of doing that but the problem is I'm at college and I don't have a punching bag, nor could I afford one, nor would I have anywhere to put it in this dinky dorm... I have access to a pretty well stocked rec center. I've done the elipticals a few times but feel kinda gay, although they have me sweatin like crazy after a 30 minute session. I've also done the rowing machine twice but didn't really like it so much.
