Skinny-fat guy here.

What type of work out would you recommend to lose fat and get stronger, but not necessarily bigger?

Not fond of weights. Push ups, sit ups? Let me know.

I have some muscle, but I want to get lean. And I can't afford weights at the moment anyway.
