Sup /fit/

I'm 21 and I want to l2swim. I haven't entered a pool in 7 years and public school swimming classes nevar taught how to tread water nor dogpaddle.

So, I'm thinking of doing some swimming and HIIT to get thinner, then doing Stronglifts 5x5.

I herd it is better to gain muscle when you're thinner, because you gain moar muscle mass that way. amirite?

Or should I do both cardio and stronglifts?

Also, can swimming make me taller/get posture/wings?

just remember that when you swim, it's not about stroke frequency, it's about stroke efficiency. If it takes you 20+ strokes to do one lap (25m in most pools), you're doing it wrong. When you stroke, extend your arm OUT, hold it in front of you, and then bring it down, and repeat.
Also, you go faster when you look straight down and just raise your eyes, not your head. Rocking in the water from side to side helps as well, because you get less drag resistance that way

Swimming can get you wings, depending on style (butterfly is good I think).
It won't make you taller.
Every pool will offer swimming courses.
Doesn't matter if you're thin or fat, by working out you get muscles.
You'll feel better though when they show, e.g. you are not that fat.
If it does not hinder your recovery, try both.
If it's too much, do one.

Butterfly is great for wings, but you might want to start with just freestyle and work your way up. I'd recommend doing lots of sprints for the main set, and don't forget to do a long warm up and at least a 300 yard cooldown.
