how many pounds can a person lose in a month on average? with exercise atleast 3 x a week and a healthy diet?

i got off track with my exercise for about a month, and now i feel like getting back to it. i have a lot of weight to lose at 5'6 and 198 pounds, but im just curious as to what i could do and such within a month.

10-12 pounds healthily.

more than 2 pounds per week is considered unhealthy.

Everyone's different. 5-10lbs a month maybe.

im 5'10 and 160 in march i was 190, and hardly any muscle.

i just started running a few miles a day, pushing my self more and more each time. get your self a good pace, increase time/distance each week.

its extremely hard when starting out, but the results are almost instant, youll feel a ton better about your self, which helps with everything, especially the commitment to the exercise.

but i also did weight training at home as well, a i would rotate from abs/legs to arms/chest, this can be done with a multi gym or just barbells, possibly nothing at all, by doing the basics such as pushups, crunches, leg lifts, burpees, etc etc.

just keep at it, and its easy, youll shed the pounds, just gotta get that motivation.

i lost 15 pounds in the first month of this workout.

oh and running is a daily thing. the other training is on top of that.

yeah im deff doing it the healthy way as i heard if someone loses more than that, they can easily gain it back.

depends on how much you weigh really.

hm.. i absolutely hate running. so would basically riding far distances on my bike be an option?

i currently weigh 198

i personally dont use biking in my training, i tried it a few times, but its more of a leg condtioning for me. just dosent the whole body stressed to the limit, cause thats when you burn fat. Although a friend of mine lost 20lbs in two months by riding, but he weighed much more. So i would say if you do try to ride, try to keep it as intense and non-stop as possible; if its painful to keep going, its working, and if your sweating buckets; its working.

so yeah, high gear, sprinting speed, and somewhat varied terrain(hills and such for incline stress)

it might not be 100% of what running could do, but itll burn fat.

yeah.. running makes me sweat, but not as much as being on the bike. im also going to add some weight training to my exercise plan.. i heard muscle makes you burn calories quicker and such.. might that help with fat loss? im not talking about whats on the scale, just in general appearance and such.

yes, weight training is very good to add to the workout, otherwise you risk gaining what ever you burn back alot faster.

yeah, muscle burns more calories (stressed or relaxed) than fat.

and even if you dont want any big gains in muscle mass, youll see the difference in your tone. For me burning the fat was just the first step to defining what was underneath.

so depending on how much muscle mass you think you might want to gain in particular areas, adjust the weight and reps for that musclegroup's workout.

but dont skip any muscle group even if you are satisfied with it how it is. do toning and conditioning exercises, less maxing of weight and such, more of the reps and feeling the burn after many reps.

Depends all on your diet and exercise intensity friend. I lost 25lbs from June 1st - Now. Which is on par with the healthy weight loss of 2lbs per week max. Although from week to week it varies, you shouldn't be losing more than that much per week if its just fat. I went from 5'9 220 - 195 and continue to lose 1-2lb per week.

Weird, running makes my body sweat like hell and biking just takes along time. Maybe you need to run faster? Also run on treadmill, sand, grass, or on a track. Concrete should be avoided unless no other option.

i forgot to mention dieting.

for me it just took this.

-strictly three meals a day.

-no processed foods whatsoever.

-no fast food

-least amount of empty calories.

-vary protein intake depending on exercise focus.

-lots of fruits/veggies.

-lots of water

-no soda

-no sweets

-high nutritional value for each food taken in.

just learn to think about what a certain food will do for you. If the answer is bad or nothing, its probably not worth eating.
