hey /fit/ what do you think?

I've been working out hardcore for 3 weeks now, i've gone from 168lbs to 182lbs in about that time.

I've been reading /fit/ for a couple of months religiously, and 3 weeks ago i decided enough's enough, so i gave up cigarettes and started piling on the protein and working out (at home) twice a day, every day.

I'm pretty happy w/ the improvements.

STATS:

6'4, 182lbs (13 stone)
curl 25kg
>> Anonymous
How did you manage to gain 14lbs in 3 weeks?
>> Anonymous
those gains are insane, and by that I mean impossible
>> html !daHTMl3iTE
I'm not joking about the gains.

I used to smoke a 20 pack a day and not really eat properly, let alone 3 square meals full of goodness.

So I basically turned it on it's head and forced myself (to the point of sickness) to eat.

I always eat 6 meals a day, i'll eat half a dozen boiled eggs in one sitting, and then i'll eat two cans of tuna + 250grams of wholemeal pasta.

I reckon that giving up smoking has helped my appetite

>I used to smoke a 20 pack a day

wat
>> html !daHTMl3iTE
I'm about to do a 30min HIIT set then i'll post another pic.

The set i'm going to do is this:

Dumbbell curl 25kg x 8
Tricep Kickbacks 25kg x 6
10 knuckle pushups
15 horizontal crunches (where i lie on a mat and put a big HTML 4 book on my feet, 6 in above the floor, bring it back to my chest, takee the book w/ my hands and whilst extending my feet out again move the book behind my back, then repeat)

And i'll do this 10 times with 5 secs rest between each exercise.

I will be in pain by the end, but that's how you know it's worked

Do you have a before pic?

Not 20 PACKS a day, A 20 pack a day.
A pack of 20 cigarettes.

*raises eyebrow* Was that necessary? Honestly. Now we know who smokes and who obviously has never even looked at a pack of cigarettes.

I see nothing wrong in 25kg? I train with 30kg, so that's just retarded
>> Anonymous
>>253498
No, you don't understand.
You only told us your curl (curls are not a good measure of strength)
What other exercises do you do?
I also find it hard to believe you gained that much mass in JUST muscle in 3 weeks, you probably gained half that in fat or something.
>> Anonymous
>>253490
No, we just know who can read properly and who can't.

Good progress OP, though you'll probably make better (read: more rounded) gains if you squat, deadlift and bench press.
>> Anonymous
>>253505
Yeah, he was a troll. A troll trying to tell someone else that they are a troll. Go figure.

Just don't get addicted to it, OP. Remember to give your body rest. You'll be very sorry if you train too much and get addicted to it and then wind up getting injured.

Thanks for the support, I can't afford the gym right now, but in a months time i should be able to (found a decent one in Lincoln that only costs £16/month, although it's £45 for first month due to admin fee, so hopefully the money i save through not smoking will enable me to hit more muscles)

I said
>I used to smoke a 20 pack a day

That means, i used to smoke a pack of 20 cigs a day, as opposed to say, a 10 pack, or a 14 pack.

It may mean different things in america, but then again cigs over here are like 12bucks a pack of 20, so they do packs of 10 and 14

A 30 kg curl on a dumbell is not nothing, nor even is a 25kg curl.

That's equal to 110 lbs on a barbell. Please observe the body that curls 110 lbs on a barbell:

To clear something up, I have been working out for 3 months, at home, with dumbbells doing a variety of different workouts.

Can't afford gym membership, so didn't really bother with my diet or understanding what excercises hit which muscle groups.

That is until 3 weeks ago when I started going to a cross-training session once a week. The guy taught me about diet and HIIT and since then i've been hooked.

I realise my wording was off on my first post
> been working out hardcore for 3 weeks now, i've gone from 168lbs to 182lbs in about that time.

And now i've been pigeonholed by a bunch of you as some guy who's making this up and trying to be all "yeah look i'm a unique snowflake who can put on a stone in 3 weeks", so i take that back.

I have put on weight and muscle, and it's all thanks to /fit/ and this tutorial: http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/viewtopic/t=98420.html

To clear things up also, I do workout like fucking mad and as i said a large part of my drive comes from reading the stories here on /fit/

Hey, it's a good job. I don't really care about the time frame, because that's not important. And I also don't care that you're lying about your curls.

Fact is, you look better than 95% of the people in the western world, due to hard work. The rest is unnecessary detail. Good job.

I'm signed up to the newsletter, but don't you need access to gym equipment to do it properly?

If so that will have to wait till I can get my arse down to one

yes gym or homegym. all you really need is a barbell, weights, power rack and flatbench.

Not always. They sell packs of 25 Du Mauriers in Canada.

But i do make sure i end every set with 10 dumbbell shrugs that i got from here:

No, theres no way you could gain 15 pounds in 3 weeks

that is not possible

If you do curls that means you have dumbells. You could maybe try stronglifts dumbells for now.

OP:

You look decent, hard to tell since these are probably perfect-angle-and-lighting shots. You were probably already built like that before your little pussy workouts.

You can't put on that much muscle that quickly, 70% would be fat. And eating that many eggs and tuna in one sitting is dumb and pointless since your body can only use a certain amount of the protein in one sitting.

It takes longer than 3 weeks/months to get in shape. I think your bodytype did all the work for you. Congrats.
>> html !daHTMl3iTE
>>253746

>And eating that many eggs and tuna in one sitting is dumb and pointless since your body can only use a certain amount of the protein in one sitting.

Right well I didn't know this, but hey it's better to have surplus that not enough right?

The way i figure it, is I want to put on weight, and any excess i do put on (such as the 6th egg etc) I can then convert into muscle. So at this stage i'm just loading my body up with as much goodness as i can afford.

Giving up smoking has really helped me financially, cos now that money can go on food rather than fags.

As for the lighting, I'm not really good at camera at the best of times, this was just bathroom w/ window open and some sunlight coming in.. guess i was just lucky.

As for my workout routine, curls have contributed maybe 80% to the shape i'm in now, I just keep adding weight and doing them slow, and keep perfect form so that I can feel the muscle groups I am hitting. That's why my traps are small in comparison, because i don't have access to barbells etc.
>> Anonymous
25kg dumbells? Wait that's not bad.
>> Anonymous
>>253785

Yes, 25kg (55lb) dumbbells is pretty good. But then again it depends on the amount of reps OP is doing and form. It is not the same as doing 110lb on a barbell because obviously the dominant arm does more work in that case.
>> html !daHTMl3iTE

>>253807

See

>>253470

I try for perfect form, but i've only been doing 25kg since last Tuesday. I once read on here that when you can do more than 4 reps without any struggle it's time to increase weight, so i've gone from 22.5kg up to 25kg.

Now i can do 8 in a row, before form fails.

My palms are taking a battering tho ;) Love it

My mind is having trouble comprehending that his scrawny body can curl 55 lbs one-handed. What do your arms measure? Can we get a pic of you in mid-curl?
>> Anonymous
>>254231
And when I say scrawny, I don't mean it offensively. Girls like scrawny types.

Good work.

Wish I can gain that much in a short amount of time.

Buy some gloves. Cost like 10$ typically for a basic non wristwrap pair. Tip: When doing dumbbell curls plant your strong leg forward, knee slightly bent so weight is shifted on that leg, lean your shoulders back slightly and curl. Should eliminate the back from the equation. Its hard to explain, but thats how I do standing curls, dumbbell and barbell. Also when alternating arms, let the each arm be completely at rest before curling with the other. That way no momentum is used.
>> Bigoted Builder Anonymous
Like most people you think that the workout is the only thing that puts on the muscle. It's a small part. Of course it's every bit as important, but you really only need to workout 2-3 times a week when you're starting out. If anything, you've reduced your gains by working out so much. You don't gain muscle during the workout, you gain it when you're recovering. if you're working out "twice a day, every day" you're not giving your muscles much time to recover and grow. Nor are you giving yourself time to regain energy which is going to hinder your strength gains immensely. Can you say "plateau"?

I gained 35lbs in 5 months by working out three times a week. It's about 10% workout and 90% diet. Also, you look really unhealthy.
