hey /fit/
i'm trying to eat more steel cut oats rather than rolled oats in the morning, do you have any advice on how to save time cooking them? i like to cook things in batches but i'm not sure how well they taste reheated. right now my only ideas are:

- soak oats overnight, microwave in morning
- cook oats, freeze then microwave
- cook oats, refrigerate then microwave

do any of you brahs do this? which is the best-tasting option?

I make them in batches and store it in a tupperware container in the fridge; each batch lasts a week or two.

As for flavor, straight up OATZ don't do anything for me - it's all about what you mix in with it. My personal favorite is crunchy natural-style peanut butter and diced peaches in a bown of hot OATZ.

People tell me all these horror stories, but I use the generic MCCANNS and it takes me 12-15 mins to make.

I wait until the water boils, dump in oats, lower the temperature to simmer, take shower, and by the time im done with my morning shower, they're usually a little overdone.

I'd suggest you do it a few times before you leave them unattended for the 12-15 mins, though.

i put a serving of steel cut oatz in a tupperware container every night with a few spoonfuls of brown sugar and enough milk to cover. i leave it in the fridge overnight and the oatz soak up the milk, eat it in the morning.

I eat them straight from the box.

"Place the steel-cut oats in a preheated 300 degree oven for approximately 20 minutes. Return the oats to a tightly covered container, storing in a cool place. Toasted oats cook in half the time."
