I'm not slim myself either but the best way to do it is through the calorie restriction diet. Also it seems to give some evidence that supports longer life.

Basically you either eat loads of good food and have exercise and stuff (but make sure you go to your GP for regular check ups).

Make sure you take good vitamins aswell (the vitamin guy below is me)

Also cut out on the junk food assuming you eat do eat it.

finally the worst thing is to reduce alcohol =-( this one is the worst!

I've had most success with a low carb high protien/fat diet

Eat
Meat
Green Veggies
Cheese
and Occasionally nuts & berries

and EXERCISE!!!!

Of course any diet & exercise will help

I've always underestimated exercise, but that's also because I went about it the wrong way.

You have to exercise responsibly and build it up, follow some sort of exercise plan. The beginning with exercise is the hardest by far, once you get used to it it becomes easier and even pleasant.

Same here. For the fattiest of fatties its a good choice. That's how that super obese Mexican guy lost half his body weight.

If he can get some fat off first there would be less strain on his body. Then start slow.

To actually lose fat, you're gonna need to couple diet and exercise. I don't know why people try to find these mystery solutions to losing weight without both, but the fact is, the only really good way to lose weight at any age and be healthy is a proper diet, and a good amount of exercise.

Some ways you can fix your diet (you will have to reduce calories between 2000-3000 a day, depending on your age and ability for physical activity, but not all calories are equal)

- Eat whole wheat bread instead of white. More complex carbohydrates means less simple sugars that get converted to fats right away.

- Minimize consumption of red meat. Fish, chicken, nuts, some dairy, etc. are great protein sources.

- Drink something other than whole or 2% milk. I only buy 1%, and can't really taste the difference at all.

Eat more veggies and fruit. Again, I don't see why people are so repulsed by this idea, but the fact is, you can't just eat a crapload of meat and a little bit of veggies and expect to have a balanced diet. The food pyramid is kinda stupid, but the general concept holds true: eat less meat and dairy, more veggies, and eat complex carbs from grains instead of simple sugars.

I don't know how overweight you are, but whatever resistance exercises you can do will help you lose weight. You lose much more fat mass when doing resistence training than cardio, but cardio will be important to maximizing your resistance training.

There are lots of good resources out there to find an exercise regimen suited to your body size and lifestyle. Check it out, but make sure to have a good mix of cardio and resistance training.
