Hello /fit/ just wondering what an ideal healthy breakfast would be , usually i eat weetabix or have 1 fried egg (olive oil) + 2 slices of brown bread. Could you recommend anything else (trying to loose weight and every little helps i guess).

What this guy said. Don't fry your eggs. Cook them another way.

It was kind of a one or the other but i was more interested in some better cereal .

Keep the egg, there's nothing wrong with it. Eggs are packed with nutrients and a little bit of olive oil isn't hurting anyone.

Well the fried egg is a source of protien, which I believe is important in the morning. Its better than sausage or bacon! If you are really worried you might want to try just egg whites, or a soy based source of protien (the soy meats can taste a little funky but there are many options), or soy milk (vanilla soy milk is delicious).

It's good that you are eating whole wheat carbohydrates, but you may want to add some fruit fro some natural simple carbs. Maybe a peeled apple or bannana, or a glass of not-from-concentrate orange juice.

Don't eat too much though! :D

ignore these guys

olive oil is essential and eggs are a great way to start the day. Even though there is a lot of cholesterol in them, but they raise both good and bad...Id say eat 1 or 2 four times a week or so...then vary it between some non-fat yogurt or oatmeal. Or eat egg whites with vegetables....

just stay away from processed breakfast meats

No, don't just eat egg whites. You lose most of the nutrients in the egg. Also, they're fucking disgusting, which is an excellent way to ensure you'll give up on your new healthy diet and go back to eating shite.

Oatmeal. Don't buy anything else. Have one measuring cup of it a day. Best thing you could do.
>> HEATING OLIVE OIL CREATES A LOT OF FREE RADICALS. THAT IS VERY BAD. DON'T FRY WITH OLIVE OIL. Anonymous

I don't know what oil is best for frying, but I know that olive oil is one of the worst for this.

That's what oatmeal is, sir.

Oatmeal, son. Buy it. I eat a bowl or two everyday for breakfast. It's slow burn so you don't get hungry right away after eating. As for the eggs, if you don't mind scrambled eggs (I prefer them) I usually just use one whole egg and two egg whites; it tastes good and has less fat/cholesterol.

Wrong, olive oil is actually the healthiest for frying.

The problem with free radical production occurs when you repeatedly heat oil up to its smoking point, as would happen in a commercial kitchen where they continue to use the same oil over and over. You don't get this problem when you're cooking at home because you tend to use it once. Olive oil, particularly extra virgin, is much better than cheaper cooking oils because it contains the antioxidants that neutralize free radicals.

Well damn. I was just repeating shit I heard here. I'll bookmark your link too and read more until I'm sure of myself before I say shit about frying ever again.
