Hey /fit/,

I just found out that according to the BMI charts that I'm obese.

I don't understand.
I'm a teenager.
I walk briskly 3 times a week for 45 mins and I dance intensively for an hour at least twice a week.
My mother is diabetic (I probably am too I'm just too frightened to check) and my dad has hypertension.

I stay up until about 2:30 every day but the I nap often during the day.
I don't eat much red meat and I drink about 6 glasses of water a day.
I eat three main (but not excessively large) meals a day and throw in a snack or two.
I enjoy dessert.

What do you think I should be doing to get healthier?

Post your height/weight. BMI charts aren't always accurate.

Yeah, that's overweight. Start doing some cardio, or better, google HIIT.

Quite fat. Eat less, exercise more. Walking really isn't exercise. Try running for 30 minutes. Stop eating junk. Also few people can eat a normal amount of food and do a normal amount of physical activity and still end up fat. I doubt you are one of those people.

There's no need to go on a diet for now. Since your young, it'll probably even out through puberty. But by making simple life style changes, you'll easily lose fat. Here are some simple stuff:

Cut out any drinks other than water. This includes juices. You can have a diet drinks (zero calorie stuff), though drink water much more than that stuff.

Make sure your snacks are nutritious. Don't snack of empty calories, instead eat fruits and vegetables.

Screw desserts. You can have them from time to time, but you don't need them.

Make sure most of the starches you eat are complex carbs. For example, instead of white bread, get this bread called Ezekiel 4:9. You can find it in the frozen foods area. Never leave it out though, it molds in a day or two. Leave it in the fridge, and take out two pieces about 30 minutes prior to needing them for it to warm up a little.

Care to explain how walking isn't exercise?

>>177100

Doesn't matter. It's how you carry the weight that matters, although you are likely more fat than muscle at that weight and height...but only you really know how bad off you are. Ultimately, if you're happy with yourself, don't change unless you're direly concerned about health issues. Since diabetes and hypertension run in your family, it probably would be a good idea to pick up some healthier habits.

Just eat less overall and cut the amount of fats and sugars and starchy things you're eating. Your weekly exercise is pretty decent, I'd suggest walking at a more intense pace and bump it up to an hour, that way you'll be getting a solid 5 hours of exercise per week. Over time, maybe you can work up to getting at least 7 hours per week and relaxing on Sundays.

Walking is only exercise to fat lards who have to carry all that fat around.

/fit/ sucks...

Just do any exercise. Walking is exercise. It's not the greatest exercise, but it's a form of it. Try to to at least walk inclines though.

WALKING BRISKLY

You know you hit below rock bottom when you count in walking as an exercise.

Maybe you just have a really slow metabolism and your body hangs on to more than normal people do.

exercise instead of napping you lazy fat fuck

>>I don't eat much red meat and I drink about 6 glasses of water a day.
Water has nothing to do with being fat, idiot.

>>I eat three main (but not excessively large) meals
Yeah, i bet. Count up the calories and then say they're not excessive

>>throw in a snack or two.
clearly it's nothing but junk. doubt you're eating any fruits/vegetables.

>>I enjoy dessert.
AND YOU'RE OBESE??? NO SHIT!

if you want to look like an animal you have to eat like an animal. stop eating processed garbage and desserts. i challenge you to eat as much as you want of -only- the following foods and still be a fatass: fat free cottage cheese, eggs, milk, tuna, chicken/turkey breast, vegetables, fruits, 100% rolled oats, lentils/beans, and whole grains

This guy's an ass, but he's dead on about the eating.
>>>I eat three main (but not excessively large) meals
>Yeah, i bet. Count up the calories and then say they're not excessive

Count your calories. You probably eat way too much.
I'm a male 9 inches taller and I weight the same as you. I'm normal. That should tell you something.

yeah, i'm an ass. so what? OP is so motherfucking dumb, she had to look at a BMI chart to realize her 5'1 160lbs fat ass is obese. she is so motherfucking fat it should've been obvious, i can only imagine how fat her parents must be if she couldn't even recognize her own obesity.

her kind are glutting the healthcare system with their secondary diabetes and hypertension. when they enter middle age, these fat fucktards end up getting heart disease resulting billions of dollars for "oh shit I have chestpain, time to go to the ER" workups, kidney disease which usually results in them going on dialysis, strokes, which ends up putting them in nursing homes as near vegetables, pooping and shitting themselves into sepsis and a decades long neverending cycle between the hospital and wherever their inhuman carcass is being given life support.

when someone reaches obesity, they should have their health care taken away.

For a good amount of insurances, you can't be morbidly obese. So uhh, yeah.

Stop napping so much.
If you like candy-like snacks, turn to mixed nuts (unsalted is best) or carrots + peanut butter.

Try to learn how to jog/run. If you already walk briskly, you can up the pace and burn a lot more calories.

Sleep at night rather than staying up at strange hours.

Stop eating dessert. For real. Stop.

And stop wearing crocs goddamn.

i said health CARE not insurance. Not having insurance doesn't stop these morbidly obese fuckfaces from going to the ER and getting $100,000k workups and treatments for heart attacks their diabetic fatasses barely even feel. And then who ends up paying for it??? TAXPAYERS.

if someone is obese they should be BARRED FROM HOSPITALS. fuck, we've had patients who had to be sent to a ZOO to get a fucking CT scan because they were too fat to fit on our scanners, which have a weight limit of around ~450 lbs.

I'm a teenager too. I'm also your height but weigh 95 lbs. That's a 63 pound difference.

If you REALLY want to lose weight, start jogging 3 times a week for 30 mins. at least. Or go to the gym. And cut down on the calories, will you?
>> Kitty-Moogle-Chan
>>177093
According to the BMI charts, most of the construction workers I know are obese, and most of them can deadlift 300-400lbs.

That said, you're probably fat. Do some cardio, lift some weights.

>>177113
I'll disagree on juices. The other shit can go.

>>177889
There is nothing intrinsically wrong with enjoying dessert from time to time. I'm 5'10" 145ish and enjoy dessert regularly. The difference here is partly metabolic and mostly exercise.

I walk *everywhere* at a pace that actually gets people looking. I move FAST. I also lift weights three times a week. Even when I didn't lift weights, I would say I was probably getting 3 hours a week of exercise just from the walking, which was enough to keep me at least thin, if not in shape.

great, idiot, now this fat bitch will look up the flaws of BMI interpretation and think she's not obese anymore. I bet she's at least 50-60% bodyfat...pretty embarrasing shit when the normal is in the low teens.

Truth.

Calculate you bf% OP. Get it to at least 10% via velocity diet, lifting, and HIIT. Done.
