I trained Tae Kwon Do for awhile and was 8-0 in matches.
I've been in like 3 or 4 fights outside of official competition and didn't use anything from TKD for any of them. Admittedly they were pretty short, shitty fights, which I won by just being strong.
One kid I picked up and slammed into a driveway and the other tried, stupidly, to go in for a double leg takedown from about a mile away. I got low, he hit me around the hips and I wrapped him. He kept pressing forward, so I gave some ground, then just took us both to the ground. He was on top, but completely locked in as I had an arm hooked under his chin, an arm behind his head, and my legs locking his torso. Stayed like that till we were broken up.
So I guess that one there was a little balance type shit thrown in, but I didnt really rely on any MA training. Only time it really came in handy was in increasing reaction times and stuff. Blocks and shit we practiced. Some kid tried to choke me, again in a stupid way, with a front two handed choke, and i just knocked his hands away and punched instinctively, ended up hitting him where his collarbone met his throat.
