Useful, you can focus on the movement your doing without worrying about weight swinging. They are great for running. If you run in one for two miles and then take it off, you will be fucking fast. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish, though. The running/athletic uses are the most beneficial but unless you're already accustomed to a movement you're doing (agility work or running for example) then I would bypass it.
