okay, I have been trying to lose weight. I am dieting. I have been going to the gym every night for the past 2 and a half weeks. I do an hour and sometimes and hour and 15 minutes on the elliptical. I have not lost any weight yet... any ideas on how to maybe lose weight faster? or why I'm not losing weight? my husband says my muscle gain can be counteracting with the weight loss.. any ideas?

Cut down your calorie intake too. Also, don't just plug away at the lowest setting. Adjust the resistance to build muscle and burn more calories.

All you need to do to lose weight and build muscle is to cut your fat intake and take in carbs and by carbs I don't mean sugar I mean carby carb carbs that are good for you. No good sugar, try to get as little sugar as possible. This way your body utilizes the fat it needs from your reserves and not the food you eat so you can lose that disgusting body fat.
