sup mis/fit/s

I'm not really a heavy guy, but i could definitely use some toning up, particularly with my stomach. I tend to tone pretty easily and quickly, I just can't ever bring myself to go work out, I can be a bit self-conscious. What are some good, simple exercises I could do, or some ways that i can force myself to go to the on campus rec center?

Pic related, it's me

My body structure is similar actually, so I would also like some help on this matter.

OP here, just on a tangent; does anyone think my neck looks funny? Like, too big? I'm something of a metalhead, so i headbang pretty hard when the moment is right, so I'm wondering if my neck looks grossly disproportionately muscular to the rest of me.

if you just want to tone then hitting the weights is a good idea. 3-5 sets of 10-15 reps at low weight will give you some decent definition and endurance, though you will lack the strength and bulk of a serious lifter.

the high rep/low weight will also help burn the bit of fat you have on you. you don't need to do any crazy exercises to get your results. benchpress, curls, pushups, situps, tricep pushodwns, lat rows lat pulldowns and squats. all of those are either machine-based or easy free weight exercises.

OP here. You like metal? We form band of slightly pudgy metalheads, da?

Run, press-ups, chin-ups, skipping rope, chin-ups.

Look at calisthenics for some good exercises using your own body weight. After you gain some confidence and start to enjoy the exercise you'll probably want to go to the gym and start doing some more serious exercise.

Well if we're having a 'who can simultaneously be the fattest and most metal' competition, I've got you both dead to rights.

Longer hair, too.

You're probably right, I'm more of a prog nerd than a metalhead, but they sort of meet up somewhere along the line considering all the prog metal I listen to.
