I'm 5'9'' 160-170 lbs, need to pick up an activity during summer

What does /fit/ think about TKD? Positives and negatives.

one of the shittiest martial arts. pick up boxing or MMA...i am not joking you, ive been into karate for 7 years now and it hasnt done nearly as much as boxing or MMA. you'll grow faster, get more muscle, learn how to fight very well...

Used to do Tae-Kwon-Do. Utter disappointment.

If you want to learn to FIGHT, go elsewhere. TKD is more throws, holds and submissions. More stuff allowing you to escape the fight.

listen to this man. Tae Kwon Do never did shit for me. I got my black belt at 10 years old.

What fucking TKD did you go to? You don't learn ANY throws, holds or submissions in TKD. Just kicks and punches.

OP here, with TKD out of the question I propose these as other interests:
Hung Gar, Judo/Aikido, Shotokan Karate, Jujitsu (don't immediately pick this)

If you want a martial art go for jiu jitsu.

Hun Gar is pretty cool. With Judo it depends, it can be like TKD, or it can be more practical like jewjitsu, Aikodo fucking sucks ass, Hapkido is way more practical for fighting but it takes to long to learn, shotokan karate sucks go learn kyo-kushin or whatever Chuck Liddelll learnt, Jujitsu is cool
