Hey /fit/. I'm training for a marathon on march 11th. It goes for 42km, with rest/beverage stations every 10km. So I need to know whether I'll be able to meet the required distance in time.

A little about myself:

205 lb or 93 kg
5'8" or 173 cm
Do Karate & Aero kickboxing twice a day, 5 times a week, Sparring for 1 hour on wednesdays and jogging 3 times a week.
I also eat a metric tonne every day d-_-b

Anyways, I went out today to see how long I could run. First I mapquested a distant landmark and found out it was about 10km there. Then, I grabbed my ipod, a bottle of water, some cash and went out.

So anyways, I managed to get there fine, took a 15 minute break then got back. It was a little harder on the way back and by the time I got about 2 km away from my home I was forced to slow to a fast walk.

So with 23 days (2 days before the marathon) left, do you think I can meet my target? If so what sort of training do you recommend?

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Impossible I'm afraid. Training for a marathon takes a bit of foresight and time.

You will be putting yourself at risk if you attempt to run a marathon at your current state plus 23 days. A marathoner would be tapering by then to work on speed work (training is a pyramid of distance work that eventually progresses to low distance at high speed).

And if I'm not mistaken, March was last month?

Your body will never be the same after a marathon. And I mean that in a bad way.

My bad I meant may. Well I guess you're right 42 km is a bit much. I might just go for the half marathon, 21 km. Thanks anyway, I'll try to find out about it a little earlier next time.

Yeah I guessed as much, my feet are killing me after only 20 km.
