Hey mis/fit/s, just how much of a person do you judge via their appearance? Are you quick to make assumptions about their personality by their appearance?

Hey OP, are you a troll?

appearance is everything.

No. My comm teacher told my class that most people assume a lot about a person via their appearance. I'm just wondering if that's true for you guys, especially since a lot of you put heavy emphasis on fitness and appearance.

Yeah but time and time again I am proved wrong, so I try not to.

That word, it does not mean what you think it means.

The problem is, a lot of people will say that they don't make judgements based on appearances, but these are the kinds of judgements people make subconsciously and are unaware of. I think people do it a lot more than they think.

I admit to making judgements based on appearance.

This has the potential to be an interesting thread.

Me? Yes and no. I tend to judge people by mannerisms, then appearance, and then everything else. Appearance does matter, especially with people who obviously go out of their way to change it.

If you mean purely on looks that can't be helped, however, unfortunately yeah, sometimes I do. I am guitly of it. I usually quickly correct myself, but I feel you can't just neglect it, either, purely on the basis that archetypes exist and people before you who have also judged in that way must have had some impact on that persons life.

Mine tend to be very specific, though. Like, if I see an overweight person, I won't immeadiately assume they are withdrawn or lazy.

A lot, but they're not the common stereotypical judgements, I have my own sets of stereotypes. But it's the same thing really.
