Dear /fit/, what is the best food to consume after 45 minutes of steady state cardio?

Usually I toss whey, milk and a banana in a blender, but I'm not sure if that's best, considering my goal is fat loss. Halp please kthnxbye.

so a steady state cardio bout of about 45 min, you likely burn about 300-400 calories
and since its not weights/HIIT, there will be NO EXERCISE POST OXYGEN CONSUMPTION (EPOC)
meaning, what you burn DURING exercise is it.
you will then drink a smoothie.

assuming likely serving size, here are your calories:
banana -184 (average sized)
12 fl oz milk 1% - 195
1 scoop protein - 100
total calories: about 480 (spread is likely 400-550)

NET DIFFERENCE WITH EXERCISE AND PWO SHAKE= net GAIN

lulz

ITT: why steady state sucks cawks for body recomposition.

OK thanks. But I'm not sure I completely understand. If my goal is fat loss, then of course I agree that I need to keep my daily calorific intake in deficit. And yes, a post workout whey shake will give me more calories than I've just burnt.

But then, isn't that irrelevant if I'm still in deficit by the end of the day?

I'm no expert (clearly, since I'm consulting /fit/) so please enlighten me further ...

well, you seem genuine, so you'll get it straight

train 'steady state' on days you literally CANT do anything else without compromising recovery for the things that count (HIIT, Weights). a nice, brisk walk at a hilly area, bike ride, water activities, etc. it should NEVER be primary means of exerc. unless you intend to compete in aerobic events...then, by all means

thinking 'OMG, i need weightloss' is fail, without knowing your situation at all (nor do i care too), you likely need to strive to CHANGE YOUR BODY COMPOSITION to achieve health.
-reevaluation diet and exercise (composed of primarily anaerobic means) are the best ways to achieve this

tldr: ask /fit/ about squatz, oatz, hiitz, etc

Right, yes, I should have been more specific. I'm in good shape. I do stronglifts on M/W/F. On days in between I do 30-45 mins steady state cardio (usually street running, with some hills). I'm currently cutting and was just curious what sort of post-cardio meal I should have (if any). In the past, I usually just had a whey shake, as I mentioned. But it occurred to me that a post-weightlifting shake wasn't appropriate for cardio days. Google turned up lots of contradictory advice. That was all.
