You fools. Take into account his frame, height, weight, pound for pound he was probably one of the most strongest in the world.

Just because he doesn't squat 10883lbs, doesn't take anything away from what he did. His training influence so many of the big bulked up meatheads you see today.

Bruce Lee designed his body to be a weapon, every limb would deal so much damage, his speed was amazing. You people just look at size and thing "the bigger the better" but you're wrong. He put as much time in as anyone every has into training and it she be applauded. The way he changed the whole outlook on weight training, he influened and still influences a lot of people to this day; that is a hard thign to do.

"Lee's devotion to fitness gave him a body that was admired even by many of the top names in bodybuilding community. Joe Weider, the founder of Mr. Olympia, described Bruce's physique as "the most defined body I've ever seen!" Many top body building competitors have indicated Bruce as a major influence on their bodybuilding careers including Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, Rachel McLish, Lou Ferrigno, Lenda Murray, Dorian Yates and eight time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney.[42] Arnold Schwarzenegger was also influenced by Lee, and said of his body, "Bruce Lee had a very—I mean a very defined physique. He had very little body fat. I mean, he probably had one of the lowest body fat counts of any athlete. And I think that's why he looked so believable."

"he also created several original designs of his own training equipment and had his friend George Lee build them to his specifications"

* Lee's striking speed from three feet with his hands down by his side reached five hundredths of a second.
* Lee's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film at 24fps, so many scenes were shot in 32fps to put Lee in slow motion. Normally martial arts films are sped up.
* In a speed demonstration, Lee could snatch a dime off a person's open palm before they could close it, and leave a penny behind.
* Lee could perform push ups using only his thumbs[
* Lee would hold an elevated v-sit position for 30 minutes or longer.
* Lee could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks.
* Lee performed one-hand push-ups using only the thumb and index finger
* Lee performed 50 reps of one-arm chin-ups.
* From a standing position, Lee could hold a 125 lb (57 kg) barbell straight out.
* Lee could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick
* Lee performed a side kick while training with James Coburn and broke a 150-lb (68 kg) punching bag
* Lee could cause a 300-lb (136 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a side kick.
* In a move that has been dubbed "Dragon Flag", Lee could perform leg lifts with only his shoulder blades resting on the edge of a bench and suspend his legs and torso perfectly horizontal midair.
* Lee could thrust his fingers through unopened steel cans of Coca-Cola, at a time before cans were made of the softer aluminum metal.
* Lee could use one finger to leave dramatic indentations on pine wood.

Bruce Lee is all kinds of hilarious.

He could be in countless movies where his overall image was "I am the greatest", could go along with all kinds interviews where people or he himself said how awesome he was, wrote books and let other people write books about his great skill, but he was apparantly too humble/awesome to sink to the level of actually fighting someone or letting people see the shit he claimed he could do.

>>257485

If you were so confident in it, you wouldn't 'have to' prove it. For example, bullies need make themselves feel big and tough by picking on weaker people to drown their doubts and insecurities. If you were so confident in yourself, you would not need to go out and beat the shit out of people to prove you can beat them up, you already know deep in yourself you can do this.

The same goes for boxing, theres a lot of shit talking before fights; a lot of this is entertainment but majority of it is just nerves, fears and doubts.

Actually, I would very well have to prove it to even so much as come with the claim that it was the greatest, because out there in the big wide world, there are lots and lots of dicks. Small dicks, large dicks, thin dicks, thick dicks. Dicks that aren't mine. And if my dick is going to measure up to the competition, I have to whip it out and step up to the challenge.

Bruce Lee didn't whip it out.

I've been doing Tae Kwon Do for over 10 years along with cross training in a few other martial arts. I've also been lifting weights for a year and a half. I'm pretty confident in my ability to kick ass. The difference is that I try really hard not to be a douche bag tough guy. As soon as someone at a party finds out that I've been doing TKD, they want to tell me, all night, about how hardcore they are because they did Army training for a month or they went to an MMA class and are now the hardest motherfucker ever. It's great to be confident, it's shitty to be full of yourself.

I'd like to sum up with one more thought. I've been doing TKD since I was young. When we would go to training camps and meet other schools I would think to myself, "Man a lot of stupid people and douchebags do TKD." Then I just realized that there are a lot of stupid people and douchebags in the world, what I was seeing was just a cross section of that. However, I have not met one person that does MMA that isn't an arrogant douche.

Also, >>Everyone I've ever met that has done MMA thinks they're ten times tougher than they are.

Which is why I hang out at /k/ all the time. At least I'll know what gun the guy used to shoot me, and I can praise/scold him for his choice. I would not want to be shot with a Hi-Point handgun, that would be embarrassing

Yeah I'm a long-time student of Shaolin kenpo (we have jokes against you tae-kwon do guys). I tend not to lump students of martial arts with fighters. When you're a student you're not only trained to fight, you're taught the philosophy (even if you're not sat down and read a book. It's intrinsic in all your training), and you're taught to be a gentleman. Arrogance is a fast way to get your ass dropped by a senior student or teacher.
Those MMA guys? They're fighters through and through. They need to think they're tougher than everybody else. It comes with the territory. They need to psychologically go inside that ring and own it. And they need to make sure their opponent knows they own it too. Same goes for a soldier.
Personally I think it's just part of the package with those folk.
>> Anonymous
>>257570(we have jokes against you tae-kwon do guys)

That's cool, everyone's got jokes about different styles of martial arts. Hell, we have jokes for certain styles of TKD as well. If you ever watch sparring at the Olympic games, we lol, rage, and cry when we watch that. It's kind of annoying that people watch Olympic style sparring (flailing round kicks at each other) and that's what their perception of Tae Kwon Do becomes.

>>They need to psychologically go inside that ring and own it. And they need to make sure their opponent knows they own it too. Same goes for a soldier.
Personally I think it's just part of the package with those folk.

I've never thought of it that way before. I still think they're pretty douchey, but that does help put it in perspective a bit.

I know, I know. Tae Kwon Do grew in popularity pretty quickly in America, so more and more schools opened. Which you would think is good, but sadly a lot of the schools are like McDonald's. There are a lot of them, they're very profitable, and the end product sucks. We had a transfer student come in from a different school yesterday, she was 14 so her Mom came with her. It turns out that she was transferring because the school she was at looked pretty, but was complete garbage. My head instructor and I lol'd a bit when the Mom came up to him with a semi-shocked look on her face and said, "Wow, you guys really do know how to fight."
