Don't listen to the above poster. Lots of people run several miles a day with no problem. Get a good pair of shoes and work your way up. If you're overweight now, you will fuck up your knees, so get down to a good weight and then start (eat right and use low impact exercises like biking or elliptical). If you get bored easily, try HIIT training (google it) which will burn a lot of calories and give you a good workout, but takes only about 20 minutes.
