So basically I want to lose a lot of weight/fat. When I go to do cardio, I get discouraged as to how far (or lack of) I can run. Any tips on making my stamina a lot better?

Jumping rope. Do it inside the house while you watch tv, and nobody will think you're a faggot.

Jumping rope is harder than running, and can put more stress on the joints, especially if you're fat enough that running is hard.

You can do two things to improve how much you can run (if that is your metric of measurement).

1: Alternate between running and walking. If you can only run a quarter mile, run a quarter mile, then walk for 5 minutes to catch your breath, then run again, then walk, then run, etc... Each time you do this, shorten the amount of time you're walking to catch your breath, and eventually you'll just be running. Once you can run about a mile and a half, you're in some sort of shape, and can begin a proper running regimen.

2: Do other cardio, such as cycling, to improve your stamina until you are able to run.

Just think of cardio like weights. A lot of people may begin off barely being able to lift the empty bar, and they feel foolish. However, they know that if they keep lifting and progressively adding weight, eventually they will be lifting more. The same goes for cardio. Keep pushing yourself each time, and even if you suck now, one day you'll be better.
