So /fit/

What do you guys do to keep yourselves motivated when exercising alone? I could never do exercise unless I was with other people, and at home my brain quickly gets bored from not being occupied. Also, I've tried exercising while watching t.v., but that gets boring real fast as well.

Simple counting games.

I may be easily amused.

I pretend to be running away from Velociraptors when I run on the treadmill. Or drug hustlers with Pit Bulls. Or I'm escaping from a torture camp. It's usually raptors.

Since I've been playing tetris whenever I have free time I've gotten to the point where I can play through entire games in my head. That's what I do when I work out. I'm not sure if that helps you though.

Turning your exercises into tests of speed may help. Like how many reps you can do in a certain amount of time or something. You could also try a sport. Just a couple of suggestions.

That one actually sounds like a LOT of fun. Sadly, I only have a cycle machine (bicycle machine). But if I did have a treadmill, I'd totally go for that

Clearly you need to use your cycling machine to practice your bicycle kicks.

On my treadmill I prefer hooking up a console and playing videogames, although that tends to turn simple exertion into a complex dance between not loosing the game and not falling the fuck down. Video games are even better if you have a cycling machine near a TV, as then you don't have to worry about bashing out your brains on the console when you trip over your own feet.

If you're lifting weights or walking/jogging/running from bears outside, I suggest an MP3 player and some metal; Sabaton is delicious fun while trudging through the snow.

Failing that, kill yourself.

Funny. Excercising in company is what kills the motivation for me. I keep myself occupied with music, although usually my own imagination is enough. I have to admit that my imagination is a bit off the charts though.

Well, you are cycling away from raptors, then. Those motherfuckers can run fast, you better get to pedaling. Listen to some fast and dramatic orchestra music while you're at it.

I do my exercise outside at a middle school's track which is right behind my house. I do it between 10pm and 12pm, so there's nothing around me to distract me. I don't run with an mp3 player. I mostly listen to my breathing and also thinking about what I just read and analyzing that. So I'm working my way through Adam Smith's "On the Wealth of Nations" that definitely gives me some thinking material.

Like all exercise, there is a definite hump to get over when you start.

You're trying to escape from Columbian drug lords. They have Hummers with machine guns, you have a bike.

Same here. I'm a bit too self-concious so being alone in the gym is awesome.

Juno Reactor is good work out music.
