Eh, in terms of duration, you want to explode out of the hole as fast as possible with a heavy weight. Grinders are a bitch and depending on your fitness level, they can really wear you out and prevent you from doing more than 1-2 sets.
However, with the rep/set scheme you're on, it's a matter of there being many ways to skin a cat. I do suggest 5x5 for a couple months, especially if you're a beginner, but pyramid schemes like you're doing are effective if you're doing it correctly. I've done 5x5, 10x2, 10x1, 4x8, pyramids and a bunch of other set/rep schemes and it all came down to mainly diet and getting out of it what I put in. Just focus on heavy, compound movements and you'll be golden.
