3. Then keep it up and stay on a regular routine. Look around and research other exercises you think would help and mix it up a little. As mentioned before, some work on your obliques would be good too. Abs aren't that great if they're bordered by dough.

This is exactly why I do cable crunches. Then I can work the abs the same way I do the rest of the body (sets × reps wise). I don't have time to do regular crunches all day.

Add some running and actual situps, then do something like 3-5 sets of 25 crunches, but instead of having your legs bent, point your legs straight up and hold them there with locked knees, this helps a lot. Other than that you're probably on the right path.
