Girl, I've got the same problem with being strictly raised to not leave before I finish all my food and I came from a 'no leftover' house, so everything made had to be eaten that night. It's hard, but you have to accept that shit gets thrown out. Take smaller portions from the buffet when you go out to eat and just eat the smaller portions. And eat slowly too, that'll fill you up faster. And for when you work at the dining hall and feel bad about throwing out the food so you scarf it down: mint. Mints you suck on, peppermint gum, just make your mouth all minty so that you don't want to put other flavors in there.
