Actually, while I'm here, I'll tell you what I know:
As a whole, alcohol is really bad for you if you're trying to keep in shape (but I drink it anyway, hypocrisy ftl), but there are things you can do to make it less awful for you
- alcohol increases your appetite (obviously) - your liver converts alcohol into acetate, which the body will burn for energy instead of fat until it's all out of your system - alcohol consumption slows your metabolism (as well as most of your body's other functionality)
these three things combined means that if you eat right before, during, or after you drink, that food is going to stick to you like thick fat butter on thick fat toast
so if you can help it, DON'T EAT WHILE/AFTER DRINKING EVER
I make sure not to, and it seems to have helped
