I'm a fatass Anonymous
Soup /fit/,

I'm a total fatass - like, 375lbs. I am actually having trouble walking more than a couple blocks cause the back pain fucks me up seriously, so I need to fix this shit. Obviously, eat less - but what exercise can I do to help? situps and pushups are currently out, I'm too fat and out of shape.

Pic related to what I feel like.

swim, bike or walk

*sigh*

I'll copypasta from the other thread:

1. go to a bmr calculator and see how many calories you burn in a day
2. note that it does over estimate for overweight people, but get a general idea
3. make yourself a plan and count your calories everyday, eating 500-1000 calories less than what your body burns
4. do cardio, lots of it.

best cardio for fat people is walking. Walk for an hour, on a treadmill. Try to do 3 mph or so.

for me to help you a bit more, tell me what the bmr calculator says.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure how a 375 lb body works, but I'd start eating half of that. It's not really even that hard, to be honest. All it takes is this:

breakfast - serving of Total or Special K (I said a serving, don't just pour without measuring)
brunch - fruit, may be oranges, apples, pear, etc.
lunch - skinless, boneless, chicken in between wheat bread, put lettuce or tomato or something for some extra flavor
linner - fruit, like orange, apple, pear, etc.
dinner - not quite sure what you normally eat, but keep it between 300-400 calories

remember to always keep count of your calories. if you can't do so in your head, keep a diary.

Seconding swimming. If you put some effort in it will be the healthiest and most challenging cardio you can do at your weight.

If the fattie wants to get a bike he'll need to look at strong bikes. Like best to go to a bike shop and ask about what bikes will work with him. Mountain bikes would be ideal because of the rigid frame but the bike shop would be able to get the right bike to support him without breaking on him if he chose the wrong one. DOn't be intimidated by the bike shops. Just show up and be clear of your goals. State that you're a beginner and you would like at least 3 choices in bike selections on a beginner budget (either think of a budget ~$500 or see what they have first) and the local bike shop (often also called LBS) will help you find the right bike for you. Bring your drivers licence or school ID with you and when you've found some bikes you like then ask for a test ride. You want to ride the bike for at least 10mins (30 mins preferred) so you can get the feel of the bike. All good LBS's will measure you (take note of those measurements and keep that handy as that is your fit) and get the bike frame to match your height/body type. Good LBS's will also gladly mont a seat for you so you can get a proper evaluation of the bike and it's feel along with the seat so you know what you're buying.

The common reasons why people quit riding is because they don't have thier ibke adjusted correctly. A properly adjusted bike will be painless for riding short or long distances.

The saddle/seat should be something you should look carefully into. After you've narrowed down your bike selection to 3 bikes that you like from allt he selections the shop has showed you then ask about the seats. I recommend going to a few LBS and state your reason for being there, your goals, and your budget. After being at a few LBS then look at your research and which bikes you like and which LBS has them and which LBS gave you good service.

When you return to the LBS again with the intent to buy a bike I recommend getting a bike lock so you don't lose the bike. A general rule is to spend 10% of the bikes cost on a lock. More if you depend on the bike or like it. This is optional but I would recommend it is to get a front/rear cheap bike light set which will cost you ~$6-10. You can also find that on www.dealextreme.com as well with free shipping and cheap. I highly recommend a helmet. There is a huge selection of helmets out there with different styles and colors to pick fom. Take a look and find one you like and ask for a better deal when you get the bike. Normally if you like the helmet you'll wear it more while riding.

LBS's always give you discount deals when you buy a bike wihth them on the accessories. I would take advantage of that combo dealing then.

-Helmet
-Lock
-Cheap mini pump ~$7
-Cheap light set.
-Water bottle holder

You should be able to talk the shop into throwing in the waterbottle holder, possiblely a water bottle, and a cheap bike pump. Don't expect them to throw the helmet in.

That seems kind of low? I eat more than that when losing weight, and I'm 165lbs and do no exercise at all

Sure metabolism and w/e, I just think that would be hard to stick to for somebody used to eating a lot.
