Hey /fit/, I started a new weight routine a couple of days ago. Now I'm still really fucking sore. Is it ok to train when you're sore? Does it help/hurt?

depends on how bad the soreness is.. if it's 'i can barely move', ofcourse you shouldnt push another session. but if its 'im a little achy', then just do it faggot.

hopefully you have a few days between working the same muscle groups.

I read somewhere that it's counterproductive to work out when you're really sore because your muscles get too damaged to recover properly. Is there any truth to this?

Yes.

The truth is common sense. Your body is not dumb. If it's telling you something is seriously wrong, or is even preventing you from working out through pain, it's generally a good idea to stop.

You get bigger as your body overcompensates for the microscopic tears in the fibrous tissue of your muscles. If you damage them too much, not only is it hard to stay at the same intensity of your workout, but your body can also consume the muscle meaning you lose mass.

drink a lot of water when your sore, helps flush out the acid buildup in your muscles which caused the soreness in the first place.

DOMS IS NOT A DEADLY THING!

WORKING THROUGH DOMS WILL NOT KILL YOU

not only is your body not stupid, it's also not as fragile as you seem to think

and if you work through it a few times, you stop getting sore after working out
