Power 90 Anonymous
What do you guys think about Power 90? I'm a fat bastard (5'8'', 235 lbs) who's been exercising a lot lately (the past week), I read and applied all the basics of Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. I am pleased with my routine but I am wondering if I should continue this route (45 mins of stationary biking in the morning, full body workout at 3X8-12 every other day) or try something like Power 90... what does anon think?

Also, what are your thoughts on "3 mins of strength training, 2 mins of cardio, 1 minute of abs"... sounds like bullshit to me but it's from that girl trainer on The Biggest Loser, and while I despise that show with a passion for the OMG 30 pounds a week bullshit... I like her. Just skimmed through her workout video and I am a bit apprehensive. She claims that it's the most effective way to burn fat in a short period of time. I know you need weight and cardio to burn fat, but at the same time? I am not sure, I'd like advice from people who know, google only gets me so far.

Lifting weights before cardio is a very good idea.

I've read the opposite. It's better to do fasted cardio to ensure you're directly burning fat, not glycogen. Then on days you lift, by doing it later in the day you get a double boost to your metabolism from the exercise.

Fasted cardio? I always thought muscle burns first before fat during fasts? Or are things different after you wake from sleep?
>> Anonymous
OP, first you need to work your legs they are the biggest group of muscles in you body, therefore you will burn the most calories using them. You could probably burn more calories walking, then using a stationary bike.

Fasted cardio increases your fat burning up to 300% (not to be confused with not eating, in which case you go catabolic and muscle breaks down and fat is stored). Your glycogen stores deplete over night, so you don't have to burn through them before you break up fat if you get up early and exercise within 30-45 mins after rising. If you wait too long though you go into starvation mode and if you exercise then you will definitely be loosing muscle.

Walking? No. Dude, I go at it hard, I'm burning at least 400-450 calories per 45 min session. You know how long it takes to walk that off? Plus you don't even get your heart going walking.

And let me just say, fasted cardio, the fasted just means you haven't eaten all night as you slept, you don't deliberately not eat.
