Alright /fit/, I just started working out about a week ago, and since I'm 19 I've already started seeing results there's just one thing I'm not too sure about. What should be my goal? I went online to look for a good height/weight chart and all I can find is something made by an insurance company in like 1954. Is there anything more up to date? I'm 5'11" and I currently weigh in at 176 lbs as of today. I know I don't need to lose much but I'm just wondering if /fit/ knows a good height/weight chart. Thanks for the help!

that second one is incorrect. it says im almost obese... which is far from true....also physician says i need to be at about 190 and im at 210 (im 6'4 btw) and in order to be fit its saying i need to weigh 160. lol bullshit.

ever heard of the "BMI"? OP asked for a height/weight chart. the BMI is the standard for a normal person to see how his height and weight are correlated.

>Underweight = <18.5
>Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
>Overweight = 25-29.9
>Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

also, at 6'4" 210 your BMI is at 25.6 which is slightly overweight. a FAR cry from your claim that it says you're ALMOST obese. almost obese would put you around 29.9

not THAT hard to read the legend on the side of the page is it?

im slightly overweight....not half obese. and in order for me to be "fit" by that chart it says i would need to be 160 to be midrange in normal. but i am not learned in this crap so i could be wrong and from the looks of it i am.. so sorry for making a dick of myself.

I am 6'5 215, BMI pegs me at overweight but I have 12% bodyfat. It isn't a great system.

BMI has nothing to do with fitness and should not be used AT all.

It was designed ONLY for statistics purposes and has no application in the real world.

>BMI is a reliable indicator of total body fat, which is related to the risk of disease and death. The score is valid for both men and women but it does have some limits. The limits are:

>It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build.
>It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle mass.

it usually doesn't apply to anyone who's pretty fit. it usually applies to the regular sedentary person.

That thing says my ideal waist size is 20 inches. Right now I'm a fucking 44 ( and that's below the belly ). Lotsa work for me.

Hmm...according to this, I need to:
Gain 4" on my chest, lose 8" on my waist, lose 4" on my hips, gain 4" on my biceps, gain 3" on my forearm, lose 1" on my thighs, and gain 2" on my neck.

At least my calves are optimal...
