neuroscience college fag here
grass is in NO way physically addictive, and in moderation barely effects your body in any way. example: smoking weed DOES alter brain chemistry... at a threshold of what is the equivalent of 5 - 7 joints per day, several years in a row. cannibinoids temporarily lower stress levels, induce hunger, and dilate blood vessels... really, thats about all the active ingredients in pot do. pot is as psychologically addictive as gambling, laxatives, and maury, so maybe if your family has a history of stress related addiction, its not your thing; otherwise, let er rip! pot is bad for your lungs (the evidence i've read indicates it's worse than tobacoo), however pot is smoked in such small quantities that these effects are negligible. to clear up any other rumors: smoking pot will not make you flunk out of school (my roommates and i literally smoked every night our first semester at college, and we all have >3.5 gpas), short of bathing in pure thc, it is metabolically impossible to OD on pot, and, while scant evidence indicates that pot lowers your sperm count (not permanently) if you are trying to have a kid you shouldnt be spending your money on grass!
in fact, in my experience, the worst thing about pot is the fact that it's illegal, and there is a possibility that a cop/ra will bust your ass so be careful!
