These strange, and often times pleasant, feelings you have are commonly referred to as the "high". The "high" is present until the body has a lower level of the substance than is needed to produce it's notable psychoactive effects, at which point the subject may experience a "hangover" (the negative effects of the substance are felt lingering after the high, including dehydration, fatigue, etc.), an "afterglow" (when the positive effects of the of the substance still linger, including positive mood change, clarity of thought, etc.), or some combination of the two.
