Hey guys.

I'm having a really hard time sleeping lately. Like even tonight, i've been up since 9 AM and right now its 3 AM. I'm dead tired, but can't go to sleep. I've turned off all the lights, and even tried counting sheep and still nothing.

My grandma said I may have restless leg syndrome, but that sounds too odd of a disease to have.

Restless leg syndrome. She heard that shit on tv when the pharmaceuticals started advertising their pills for it. I've always called it the Jimmy Legs. You'll be trying to sleep and you'll have the insane urge to kick your legs until they're sore. Always went away in a half hour and I only had it when I was maturing.

And you are right on! But for me its like I have the energy to run blocks. So what i usually do is turn on my ipod and kick my legs to the music for an hour or 2.

But that didn't work. Seeing as i'm still up.

I ussually do heel raises and butterfly's when it happens. Leg kicking never helped, but I found those two did.

Oh, guy who sounds like your mother here. Go and get some fucking Melatonin. Start taking it at like 9pm. It's available at any pharmacy. It's cheap as hell too. Take some, and within an hour or so, you'll probably be passed out in bed. It doesn't hit you hard, isn't addictive, and will set you on the right track. It's willpower man.

Way before 11:30. You should be in bed at 10 probably. That's what most normal people do at the latest. But honestly, I would take the drug. It's a natural hormone that our body produces. To help you get on a normal sleeping pattern again, I would highly recommend it. And when I said cheap, I meant it. It was like 12 Dollars for a bottle of 350. Something ridiculously cheap. Start excercising earlier in the day. Don't excercise at night, otherwise you're fucking yourself. Fuck, even wank earlier, that's just another thing to get adrenaline pumping, and will push sleep back later.

OP here again.

What i'm taking away from this thread:

Cheap sleeping pills are easy to get.
Drinkin beer can put me to sleep.
Getting up at 5 can prevent me from becoming a lazy faggot.
Jimmy Legs are common.
I need to listen to my mother more often.
Reading Books before bed will help.
Jerk it/exercise earlier.

So, to make things easier. I'm going to compress everything I said, into a rules to live by list. I know this seems batshit insane, but it will help you. It helped me, and I used to NOT Sleep. For days at a time.

Get off the fucking computer
Go to bed at a reasonable hour. No late night bullshitting ( Ya, cya 4chan.)
Try melatonin if you need something natural to get to sleep with
Wank/Excercise/Any type of stimulation EARLY
Don't eat before bed, unless it makes you sleepy (Cheeses, warm milk etc)
No Artificial Light. No Ambient noise. Take away all distractions.
Set your fucking alarms. Wake up when you don't have to. After a while, it'll become second nature. You will be a ton more productive. There is no excuse to staying up late. Anything done late, could be done early.
Read before bed, preferably something that makes you exhausted ( Deep shit, maybe some Dostoyevsky)

OH, and stop fucking taking naps, unless it is imminent. They also fuck the hell out of your sleep pattern. Especially if they're longer than around 30 Minutes.

This is kinda related as i have the same problem sometimes though not serious. I start exercising at 7p.m. is that too late considering i'm going to bed at 9p.m?(i don't have any time before 7 and i go to bed early because i have to wake up at 6a.m)

Well, has it been working? Why not work out before you have to get to work. Wake up an extra hour early to get a better, more restful night's sleep. Seems like a fair price to pay.
