So how dangerous is mold?

My dishwasher broke in like Jan. or Feb. and I have yet to get it fixed, I also left the dirty dishes in there.

I took some of them out to clean them though. Completely caked with mold.

I put them in the sink and sprayed them with burning hot water. Puffs of black smoke flew off them. While this was all happening I had a shirt over my nose and mouth cuz I was scared.

After some soap and burning water they look a bit better. I'll let them sip in soapy water for now.

If I clean them like super duper clean can I still use them, or should I throw them out? It would be a hassle to get new bowls, and a new spatula and measuring cup, and frying pan.

So am I gonna die or is everything just fine? Will I get sick?

I don't care. Eat off them if you want. It will be a good way of helping evolution along when you win the darwin award.

Well I don't have any bleach, but thanks anyways.

I can't really go get any anytime soon either. My car's battery died recently. I bought a jump starter thing to fix it but that didn't end up working, but that's a whole other story, more related to /o/.

boil wash (don't for non-pyrex glass unless you want it to explode) them and use a lot of washing up liquid.

Should kill anything likely to be harmful.

Except HIV. Soaking your needles in bleach doesn't do shit. A lot of people got HIV since they thought it works.

this happened to a pot I had made soup in and forgot to wash.... i chucked it in the oven for a 3 hour auto clean cycle... at the end there was only a small bit of ash that i quickly and easily cleaned up

but this isn't advised because it then takes another hour and a half of scrubbing with silver polish to get rid of the heat staining (unless you don't care about heat staining as it's a solely cosmetic effect on the metal)

Take a gallon of bleach and boil about half the water out to double the concentration. Mix it with some commercial oven or coil cleaner, and soak the moldy dishes in them.

After that, toss them into the autoclave.

I used to trip out on some kind of mold that grew in my coffee pot

Depends what type of mold. Some can kill you, but more so if you're allergic to it. I would buy all new plates just to be sure. It's the price you gotta pay for not washing them when you still had a chance...
