/fit/, i need some advice. I've got a grappling tournament in a week that i need to lose 10 pounds for. Now i have no problem losing the weight, but will it really significantly weaken me?

No

Thing about wrestling/juijitsu is that you weigh in the same day that you fight with a few hours in between. It will weaken you if you're not used to it and don't do it properly. Lower your sodium intake and lower your water intake in the few days leading up to the fight. Also avoid heavy carbs. Eat a lot of veggies and chicken with fruit being earlier in your day. Protein shakes are good too.

I was in the same situation half a year ago. My first grappling bout. What I did was that the day before the event, I ate my last meal at 13:00. No carbs in that meal, as carbs binds water. From there on, it was just DRINK WATER & PISS for the remainder of the day. Lost 7 pounds in pure piss.

I was obviously weak when i woke up, but as soon as the weigh ins were done, BOOM, coffe, chocolate, carbs, red bull... I was feeling fucking awesome. Not weak at all, but tired as fuck when I got home.

is dat sum grapplers quest in las vegas, dec 6?

If so, GQ allows 24 hour weigh ins. So 24 hours out, don't drink or eat anything. Sweat a lot. After weigh ins, hit the buffets.

If not, then you have to cut more everything but water weight. No carbz for 10 days, lower sodium intake, if you take creatine stop, do cardio...etc.

or you just stay in your weight class and be a little bit lighter than your opponent. no big deal.

OP here. It's not the weight i'm worried about losing, i eat alot for my size so when i start eating less and burning calories the weight should come off. I just don't want to be considerably weaker. And it's a small tournament in PA
