I'm going for my first run with my recruiter today. I've done some running before, but I was never all that hot at it. Any advice /fit/, or are you full of trolls today?

You chose a hell of a service for someone who's not good at running my friend. I guess the only thing I can say is wear good shoes.

Your first time out the recruiter should be trying to get a feel for what you are capable of. Give it all you've got and you should have no problem.

lol. There are too many people who enlist in the Marine Corps without even thinking to get their ass into shape as best they can before boot camp. I have about 8 months until that time, and all I do is run and lift. The harder I work here, the easier it will be there ( In the PT aspect, anyway).

you run, it's not a mysterious eastern art only found in monasteries in himalayas, protected by hordes of trained ninja monks

well, i guess the only advice is that running shoes help a lot. Also, there's usually very little difference between expensive and inexpensive running shoes

Belive me, I'm working very hard to get ino shape, but as an ex-smoker who is a few pounds over weight running is not my favorite form of exercise.

Just run whenever you can. Don't make excuses. If it's raining, put on a coat and get your ass outside and run. If it's 110 outside, sun's out guns out mother fucker.

Make sure you've got the right form.. Run on the balls of your feet and spring, not your heels, keep an uprightish posture, don't lean forward, don't take too long strides, bend elbows at 90 degrees and move in the vertical plane...

Wait a minute here's better advice...... don't join the fscking army!!

oh yeah, because there's so much difference between the $200 nike shoes and the $70 no brand shoes, because, like, when you have nike shoes you get to play street basketball with all your good-looking multiracial friends while hot girls cheer you on, because they know you're the man thanks to the brand on your shoes
