how the hell do i do a pull-up or chin-up? I can't seem to do it no matter what I try. I'm not fat or that out of shape.

There are 'assisted' chin-up machines, or you can have a friend hold some of your weight while you're up. Or you could do other lat exercises until you're strong enough to do them on your own, I guess.

OP, google "grease the groove" for your pull-ups.

Since you can do zero reps, do jumping pull-ups, and then do negatives on your way down.

Your biceps and back muscles are weak.
-Pulldowns (the machine where there's a bar and you pull it down). Try overhand grip, underhand grip, various spacings, etc. Mix it up.
-Rows
-Bicep curls

Do these and you'll be doing pull ups in no time.
