Does the Ketogenic diet really work? I'm already on a low calorie diet for weightloss, as well as a work out regimen.

However. I've changed my lifestyle, and lost 12 pounds this last month. Now I'm sick and tired of being a fat fuck (roughly 50lbs to go) and I wonder if this wouldn't be a good reset button of sorts.

In addition to my "Is this 4reelz?" question I've got a few specifics.

Would ketosis fuck up my metabolism like fasting would? I mean, could I drop the weight, and then so long as I keep a clean diet keep it off?

What sorts of foods are best for achieving and maintaining ketosis?

And most relevant is: Would I lose weight any faster on a ketogenic diet than my current low calorie? (1500 kcals, no junk) This assumes I maintain my workouts.

keto works but I wouldnt change what youre doing if it is working. If you start to plateau, then go for it

Keto works fine, although I dunno what your expectations will be after 'losing 12lbs in a month'

It won't hurt your metabolism nearly as much as fasting as long as you eat right. You will probably lose weight slower than fasting, but you'll be losing more fat. The only thing you really lack (unless you choose to carb load every weekend) will be a steady supply of glycogen in your muscles. For cardio you'll probably need something less intense than running to keep your heart rate where it needs to be and to prevent your muscles from telling you to go fuck yourself.

Eggs, tuna, 80% lean beef, italian sausages, peppers, onions, celery/salad (to snack on if you get an urge) + a good multivitamin and non-sugar fiber supplement are what I base my diet on. Once every 2 weeks 'treats' include string cheese, chicken wings, pepperoni.

It works best if you're obese, or at least on the high end of overweight. On the low end you're probably better off bulking and cutting.

Proteins are converted to glycogen in the absence of adequate dietary carbohydrates.

Ok, I've got 50lbs to lose, and I'm just over a month in, On the wii fit it tells me I'm beyond "Very obese"
If I did a ketogenic diet I would carb load friday night to saturday night, mostly with brown rice and low sodium soysauce. Does this sound about right?

I don't want to make muscle gains at the moment, eventually, but not at the moment, right now I just want to lose this fat so I can start building the body I want. I like the way your diet is planned out, however, I don't think I'll be having "treats" My main question now is will I lose faster than on my low calorie diet, which I expect to even out at about 8lbs a month here shortly, or would I see faster gains, in a healthier manner if I go keto.

I really appreciate your help, is the graph yours?

Chances are low calorie diet + exercise everyday works better still

I don't personally carb load at all and do 1hr of 130-140hr biking every day + mild strength training to try to maintain what I have. Currently I'm averaging 8-9lbs a month with muscle mass increasing (although only slightly). I think I've hit a bit of a wall for putting on muscle while only eating 1700-2000 calories a day.

That's fine for me though, I'm planning on losing another 25-35lbs with this diet then bulking/cutting.

The graph is mine, less than 20g of carbs a day since june

That's a great help, so I think I'll take this advice and go on keto only if I plateau . Congrats on the loss, I hope one day I have a nifty chart showing that I can kick being a fatass. I'll be cheering for you anon.
