Guys, I've heard from multiple sources that eating simple carbohydrates right after a work out is good because it replenishes your energy stores and makes them larger. Is this true and if it is, what are your favorite post-workout, simple carbohydrates?

Straight dextrose/glucose, or the more easily obtainable gatorade (powder form, still has sucrose though. Bottled has fructose, which is terrible either way.). Maltodextrin as well if you can get a hold of it.

Drink some chocolate milk after working out.

Keep in mind though that you shouldn't eat carbohydrates late in the evening. If you work out later in the day, you may be stuck in a situation where it's best not to eat them.

You shouldn't eat TOO MANY carbohydrates, big difference. Absorbtion speed is multiplied greatly, so the majority will be processed accordingly (converted and re-stored as glycogen) before it has a chance to become a problem (and likely before you're even able to get to sleep).

Smarties are pure dextrose. Just eat a few.

SweeTARTs are dextrose and maltodextrin together. Just the original brand. The newer brands like the Chewy and Squeez varieties have the additional inclusion of Corn Syrup...

CORN SYRUP. ZOMG. DUN DUN DA-DUN!!!

It's fucking casein protein. Enjoy hampering your muscle synthesis by eating a slow-metabolizing protein just after a workout. Bitch.
