How much cardio should I be doing on average a day to be losing weight? I eat pretty horribly, no fast food or soda but chinese and italian like four times a week.

I have no problem with extended periods of cardio, weight training is a pain in the ass though

also changing my diet is most likely out of the question, i live at home till next semester and my family are pig disgusting.

come on /fit/ help a fat bastard out

is 30 minutes enough? should I be pushing 1h+ a day? is it better to run as fast as I can for 30 or extended for 1h

OP

Drink more water. Stretch. Find how far you can run before you are just fuckass tired and work from there. Don't go for time at first, set a goal and accomplish it, then work on getting there faster.

well it depends on your calories/weight but since you're not eating that clean, you should probably go for 45min-1hr (1hr max without starting to eat muscle). if you want to run more than that, run 45min twice a day.
i'm not sure on the exact calorie count but the fat you want to target starts burning after extended periods of running, so longer distances would be better for you.

depends on what type of cardio it is

most fatties go from machines then graduate to jogging to running to sprinting

but even then machines are still useful

i'm more of a fan of HIIT (like everyone else on /fit/) than LISS, but all up to you. i lost 30 or so lbs awhile back from long cardio, i just don't ever do it now

You'll do better with HIIT, I've been doing it for a month, 30 mins a day at first, but worked my way up to 45 now, and have lost around 5 kilos, though I'm on a strict diet as well.
