Hey /fit/,

So, decided to get in shape and all that good stuff. Became a vegetarian (six months, was tough at first but better now) and been going to the gym. However, whenever I work out my legs and do squats and such, I get these red marks on my shoulder. They're painless and everything, I was just wondering if there's any harm or is it just something I'm doing wrong?

Will they stop appearing if I continue to do squats weekly?

Normal I think, I have them too.

Do your squats lower on your back, you're holding the bar too high.

But yeah, they're normal. They wont stop appearing, but they suold go away after a couple days

Thanks everyone, I figured they were normal, but just making sure I wasn't damaging anything.

yea dude, normal, same shit here

They're normal. Not if you get them from doing squats, but don't worry.

I've been getting those for 5 years now - only when I do standing calf raises though with the machine that has the "arms" that go over your shoulders. Totally normal - they'll go away after a day or two and never hurt you. Wear them like proud marks of a good workout. ;)

I don't understand.. is this from the pressure of the bar or something completely different?

he's right. this is a common mistake and can really damage the disks in your back when you start upping the weight.

i dont know if you are aware of this but you need to watch your b12 and iron intake since you're a vegetarian. b12 is only found in animal products (milk is a great source) or foods fortified with it. also, vegetarian iron sources are not absorbed as well as animal sources. if you decide to take a supplement for iron, make sure it is chelated. hope that helps. good luck
