Hey /fit/. First time posting here. I have been working out and eating a lot (trying to gain muscle) over the past three months. This is the progress I've made so far. I have gained about 8/10 an inch on my biceps and I am up to 202 from 188. I think in a week or so, I am going to switch over to trying to cut fat. I have never had a six-pack, and I figure I haven't got too much youth left to try and get one. I have no idea how long it will take to slim down, and how much muscle I will lose in the process.. any hot tips, other than an hero (I only assume this will be the response because I spend some time on /b/)

My three months ago on the left, me a couple weeks ago on the right...

Run.

Run.

RUN.

Circuit training.

Cut out pop and junk food.

You're a dude so the weight will vanish almost instantly.

What about carb/protein intake? I have heard cutting carbs helps you lose fat faster, and more fat, as opposed to muscle. This true? All the guides I have read say that one should get at least a gram of protein per pound of weight per day, but I can't seem to wrap my head around how to get that much protein while keeping my calorie intake low. I mean, an egg has what, 8 grams of protein? I am willing to supplement with a protein shake, but it seems like I would need to drink a couple per day to get that much protein.

Also, last summer, I ran six days a week, four miles per day, and I didn't see much change.. mostly just developed pain in my knees. Then again, I wasn't also weight training at the time.

if you don't eat enough carbs, your body will start sacrificing muscle to supply energy needs. Instead, stick to complex carbs (ie whole wheat bread over white) that'll keep you energized throughout the whole day. You should definitely be having 1 or 2 whey protein shakes a day at least, and stick to a strict diet without any junk foods, soda, etc. if you're looking to cut fat.

You need to eat carbs to fuel your running.
When I dont eat carbs before I run, I feel like total shit.

Just don't eat alot of carbs, because you still want your body to burn fat.

Any suggestions for supplements? Other than guzzling a couple whey shakes per day, I am taking a multivitamin, glutamate, EFA tablets, and creatine. Are these all fine to take while losing fat? Should I drop the creatine/add anything else?

Do some cardio along with weights. You'll see improvement much faster
