DDR, Tendon Pain? Anonymous
Hey fit,
I think I found something physical I can do regularly without feeling like Im just a mouse in a wheel. A few years ago I did DDR for ~3 hours, three days a week during the summer and lost 30 pounds. Felt great too, and for once in my life I didn't feel out of breath climbing stairs.

What worries me though is the stress it puts on my legs. Im a pretty hefty guy (280-300lbs), and what prompted me to post was that I felt something on the inside of my left foot today, underneath the ball joint bone that sticks out to the right. Felt like a tendon was rubbing against something. It would be triggered by jumping a certain way. I've never felt it before. Should I see a doc? continue dancing?

My wrists and joints are starting to grind too... I went to a therapist and they said it was the onset of arthritis. ARTHRITIS!? Im 20!! Any thoughts on prevention? supplements?

uhh.. sounds like DDR is a bad idea, I'd see a doctor. Don't ruin your feet by doing something retarded like playing DDR when you know something's wrong.

Also, instead of DDR, use one of these. I don't care if you feel like you're a mouse in a wheel, ellipticals/arctrainers are much lower impact than playing DDR, and are much more effective at burning calories. I'd estimate that you could do the same amount of work on an elliptical in 30-45 minutes that you could get out of DDR in 3 hours.

Seriously though, don't ruin your feet for the rest of your life. If you think something is wrong, don't ask /fit/, ask the doctor ffs.

You might only be 20 but obese people die at like 30 so you are middle aged and it makes sense for arthritis.
