Hey /fit/ I'm about 20 years old, 5'9 and weight in at 140. In other words, I'm a skinny s.o.b.. I'm in good shape. I can run 4 miles before I start to breath heavy however, I just started going to the gym.. Anyways, I decided to bulk up some but I'm not sure how to go about it diet wise. A friend of mine suggested I should try to eat about 200 grams of protein in six meals and about 3000 calories on days I go the gym. I'm just wanting to verify that he was right, and know what I should aim at for on days I don't hit the gym.

Currently, my workout is running 4 miles as a warm up and then doing machines for about 20-30 minutes. At night I go to a mma class 6 days a week. (good part of why I want to put on some muscle.)

Anyways I'm open to any suggestions you have.

machines certainly have their weaknesses, but they're not all bad. If your too intimidated by freeweights, or don't know proper technique, then by all means continue to use the weight machines. We all gotta start somehwere

I'd replace the LISS with HIIT if I were you.

Machines are bad, don't eve ruse them. You'll perform the exact same motion time and time again with no variation, which will FUCK UP YOUR MUSCLES AND LEAD TO INJURIES DOWN THE ROAD!

Switch to freeweights asap.
