/fit/ I have trouble concentrating on tasks. Uni has now gotten to the stage where I need to concentrate hard or I will fail. Do you have any suggestions? Also do fish oil tablets work?

Get a girlfriend. Divide your day into sleep, eat, cuddle/sex, study. Worked for me. Also, ditch 4chan.

I just googled health boards and this is what came up as one of the options. I have a girlfriend and I'll probably never come back here after this questions answered.

Stop coming here. Seriously, this place is an awful time waster.

Do you drink a lot of caffeine or not enough? About how long do you usually eat meals before class/study/project time? Fish oil doesn't cause you to focus, but research shows that its effect on the brain is positive, so take what you will from that.

I don't drink much caffeine at all, if I have coffee after about 2 PM I can't sleep. I usually eat at 7ish then at 1 then at 8ish. I have fruit between meals and sometimes other healthy snacks. My sugar intake is pretty low though. I do drink a bit of tea mainly Darjeeling and Earl Grey but sometimes green tea as well.

Train yourself to a routine.

Find a comfortable quiet place and make it your study spot. Do all your studying there, and only study there. Eat before studying and frequently while studying.

Humans can be trained similar to other animals: food rewards indicate good behaviour. Reward yourself with small snacks as you study.

Oh, also; find what time of day you can focus best. It may be in the early morning, afternoon, evening, late night, whatever. Start your study project at that time and try expand it as much as you can afterwards.

It's late at night or early in the morning. Problem is, I'm on the cross country team and we train every morning at 6:30 so I have to be in bed about 9 PM if I want my 9 hours of sleep.

Oh, also, sage because I keep adding things. Determine what are your distractions and find ways to eliminate them. For me, sitting in front of a computer reduces my studying productivity by about 95%. As long as I force myself away, to a different room at least, I can be productive. Also, being around other people who are talking completely ruins it for me, I get absolutely no work done in that situation.

My study spot at home is sitting against the foot of my bed on the floor. It's quiet, uninterrupted, good lighting, comfortable and with none of my ultimate-weakness distractions in the room. At school I study in the library, which has similar conditions, though is less comfortable because I can't get food/drinks whenever I want.

Thanks I think I'll just listen to music in the loungeroom. Also peach smoothie: will it blend and taste decent?

Should be fine, just mix in some other fruits for a good blend though.

Music is another good point. If you listen to music while studying, make note of whether it distracts you from your work. I find if I listen to music with lyrics it's distracting, but I can still work with other instrumental stuff.

If you're a runner, careful with your carb intake, especially if you have a class right after you eat. Having a heavy carbohydrate meal will leave you feeling drowsy for awhile.
