Dear /fit/,
I have a problem with eating foods that are bad for me. Like I eat out about 3 times a week, but I don't eat fries anymore, or ketchup. I drink only diet coke, and water. Late at night I eat nuts/raisons/fruit. But, I am gaining weight, and I feel depressed, any ideas?

You should probably work out. Seriously, if you exercise a reasonable amount you will stay at a reasonable weight as long as you aren't slamming big macs the rest of the fucking time.

run, do some cardio, go lift some weights? When you eat out, are you downing baconators or something? If so, stop it with the greasy burgers. If you HAVE to eat at a mc donalds or wendys or something, get a grilled chicken something or another.

you really didn't give a lot of details, so noone can really help you that well.

When I eat out I usually get tacos or like cheeseburgers about 2, with a diet coke. But, I try working out every day, but it just seems, I don't know, a waste of time? I guess I'm the kind of person that likes to see results fast, and when I don't I get pissed off and quit. I need to find my way around that mindset.

Also no, I don't eat big macs or baconators, I think I'm just too hard on myself.

...Eat less junk, and less food in general? What's the problem here exactly?

If you're wondering where the weight is coming from, keep a diet log and check your carb/fat/protein and calorie amounts from day to day. If you're still gaining weight then it's too much.

keep off that diet coke, shit's bad for you and rumor has it doesnt help and can hinder weight loss.

Stop spreading this bullshit. Diet Coke can be deadly if you drink like 10 cans a day. I've been to at least five different nutritionists and talked to several of my brother's diabetes doctors. They all say 1-2 cans of diet coke a day is perfectly fine.

To OP. You can eat out if you wish... Just do it smart. I got this book, Eat This, Not That for a few bucks the other day since I find out pretty interesting. People here say shit like you can never eat out, but lets face it, it's convenient and at times, necessary. But, like I said, do it smart. I was reading the book, and I found out some stuff that I thought wasn't that bad, was actually pretty bad. Also found out the Egg McMuffin is apparently the best breakfast food to eat... Anyway, eating chicken or turkey when eating out is always your best bet. I eat a Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich at least once a week (with fries, at that!), and do cardio work out for at least 45 minutes four to five times a week. I sometimes lose weight, which gives me more reason to eat out sometimes... But like I said, eat right when eating out, and exercise.

I agree it isn't unhealthy to drink, but you shouldn't be touching it if your goal is to lose weight. There is evidence that the body overcompensates for the indigestible sugars by making you feel hungrier, so drinkers usually eat more.

Sounds like more medical bullshit people spew to make the lives of people harder. I'm losing weight right now, and have lost about 37 lb since late January or so. I drink a can of a diet drink every night with my rice dinner. The best way to not over eat? Take time eating. I look at the clock when I bring my plate to this computer to eat, and I always make sure I take at least 15 minutes until I finish it all. I end up always being full until the next morning.

The man is right, eating slowly will cause your stomach not to expand as much and smaller stomachs are more easily sated.
