Truth about carbs? Anonymous
I went to the doctors and was weighed, and it turns out I weigh 200 pounds, and as I was like 155-160 only 2 years ago I decided to try to get back to that weight.

I have been trying to formulate a diet plan but everything I read says carbs are evil. I love white rice, potatoes, bread ect… so cutting them would suck.

So I am asking how bad are carbs really? Are they ok as long as I have a low fat, low calorie diet? Or should I try some atkins like diet with very few carbs?

(Sorry if all this has been asked before, I don’t come to /fit/ much.)

Hmm, you turned into a fatass because you like foods that are bad for you. You seem unwilling to make sacrifices in order to lose the weight. So, here's a suggestion. Drink a bunch of bleach and kill yourself with some dignity, or remain a whining fatass for the rest of your life.

That or grow some balls and do what you know you need to do. Eating whole wheat bread instead of the shit made with bleached flour won't kill you.

Atkin's will fucking kill you. Lurk here, find the consensus view, and stick to it because it's been working. You can eat carbs (fiber rich versions are always better), meat, dairy, veggies, and whatever else as long as you control your calories and exercise. It's really not terribly complex.

Go for complex carbs or mix in whole wheat shit with the shit you already eat. Before you eat a meal close your fist and make the food match how big it is unless it's calorie sparse snacking I.E. Raw spinach. You probably have just gotten used to eating too much with the giant servings at restaurants now.

there are high GI , medium GI, and low GI carbs, low GI being the best(whole grain, pasta) medium being soso(fruits, green veggies) and high gi being bad (your pic on the left of rice for example, potatoes, bread)

atkins is basically ketogenics, you run on fat instead of carbs, if you plan on bulking up keep on taking in carbs, you must have carbs to build muscle
