You can only safely lose 1 - 2 pounds of FAT a week, unless you're morbidly obese. If you start eating less than that, you'll be losing a lot more muscle along with the fat. If you stay significantly below a 500 calorie deficit for an extended period of time, your metabolic rate goes down. This has absolutely nothing to do with the six meal a day thing you mentioned. You will simply have to eat less than you used to to even maintain weight. Besides, what is the point of punishing yourself further, putting yourself at risk for disordered eating, if you can eat more to lose that fat?
