The sad fact is that some of us actually don't have the self-control to be healthy on our own. It's terrible, but it's true. Some of us needs to get kickstarted.

So get a workout buddy. Trust me. It's the only thing that really actually works. /fit/ can sit on their high and mighty horse as much as they want, but if you don't have the self-control, don't try to magically summon it up from within, because it isn't there, period. Instead, utilise your ability to keep promises to other people as a placeholder, *that* works.
You'll find that not only will you have the resources to show up at the gym, put the twinkie back on the shelf, but you'll also push yourself that little bit harder during your workouts.
