Hey /fit/, I have a problem. I cannot stop stretching and I can't stretch far enough. Every fucking day, I wake up and stretch for an hour and a half (after warming up of course). Then I go to the school gym and stretch for another 1.5 hours. Then at night I stretch for two hours...

Yes, I spend five hours a day stretching. It just feels so good. I've taken Adderall XR and regular before just to enhance the feeling, or at least my focus on it.

Anyway, here is my problem: Whenever I stretch my body becomes loose and all that, but the part(s) I just finished working on feel oxygen deprived. Say I stretch out my hamstring for a minute or two... when I get up or switch legs the one I just got off of is incredibly loose, but it feels like I just woke up, kind of a paradoxical thing.

What the fuck? Is this just psychological? Is this because of how good I feel during/after stretching?

Another problem I have is I just can't stretch far enough. Take the hamstrings again... I use a few different stretches, but it doesn't feel like it's enough.

I've gone as far as possible before with my biceps and woke up with them being really sore, but they were still extremely flexible and I didn't lose any strength with them.

I guess, what can I do to improve? Am I just obsessed? Is this dangerous? I'd ask a doctor, but I don't have anymore insurance :/

So you can complete at least 30 different stretches with a hold time of at least 30 seconds in 2 minutes?

I'd give you a 1/10, but I'm only responding to keep my thread up.

Not OP... there's a definite difference. Two minutes is just a warm-up.

why would you need to do 30 stretches?

even if you did youll only have to do the for 10 seconds at a time

Because each stretch targets a different muscle or muscle group and in different ways. Sometimes you're too stiff to stretch really deeply so you use an easier stretch until you loosen up and then go deeper.

10 seconds? lol, that's not enough. There's a big difference between stretching for 10 seconds and 30 seconds if you're doing it right.

The only thing I'm worried about is how much of my day I'm dedicating to this and the constant need for more stretching... the latter is the only real thing that's bothering me.

I know the feeling, after a good stretch you feel like doing more. but 5 hours a day is crazy -_-

My sources say that doing, say, ten seconds ten times in a row is the way to go.

Your sources have failed.

Here's my advice:

1. Stop the Adderall XR - Your body's organic, don't use crap to enhance the feeling. Just focus and let your body tell you when it's time to rest.

2. REST! Stretching is an exercise which results in micro tears in the muscle. Sure, that's a good thing since it builds muscle and flexibility with one catch. You must allow enough time to let your muscles heal. 5 hours a day can be quite damaging. That's why you feel oxygen deprived.

3. Lower your stretching routine to 1.5 hours/day. Stretch for 30 minutes in the morning to warm yourself up, 30 minutes when you exercise, and 30 minutes at night. Personally, I stretching for 30 minutes in the morning and 1 hour before I rest for the evening. Before I work out, I just do 1 or 2 full body stretches to warm up (5 minutes max). However, I always leave 1 or 2 days a week to rest from the 1 hour night sessions since that's when I hold for longer periods, try to relax, then push myself further.

Remember, your body is being put into stressed positions. It needs time to adjust before it finally lets go. Relax and breathe deep. That way you don't injure yourself.

As for your hamstrings, get this product - works like a charm ^_^:

Anyway, if you're a woman, I envy you. Women are lucky when it comes to flexibility. I've been stretching for many years and still I cannot do the splits.. But I have a feeling I'll eventually accomplish that. Every year I can go just a little further ^_^

Anyway, good luck with your stretching and PLEASE, don't over do it. Rest is just as important as stretching.

heres my advice.
stop being a dip shit. if your knee can touch the back of your head your flexible enough. if your able to do the amazing chineese acrobat bullshit where they sit on their face and lick their butthole your fucked up. if you wanna get any more flexible your going to have to start breaking bones......... and then your prolly gunna end up being a pussy cause i don't have any back bone. fuck you OP for being fucking werid.
