sup /fit/

Ive been on a diet for a couple weeks and have lost about 14 lbs so far.

So, I've also started lifting a lot of weights, and ive noticed that I have also gained back a few pounds, but still keeping to the same diet and cardio I lost it from.

I can't really tell if i'm gaining muscle mass or gaining body fat, as I can't see a visible difference in the mirror yet. I can feel my muscles are harder and bigger though... How much weight could the less than hardcore lifting routine be adding?!

Do a weekly weigh-in and estimate your bodyfat. Whatever's left over is your lean mass. if that goes up, it's good. Down is bad.

What's a good way to estimate body fat?

here's how i do it.

look in the mirror naked. a full length mirror is best. be honest with yourself. do you have too much bodyfat?

yes : eat less, move more.
no: good.

You're not going to gain muscle mass if you're on a diet. Gaining muscle requires getting more calories than you expend, fat loss requires a calorie deficit.

If you've lost 14 pounds in two weeks, then you're losing muscle mass (unless you weigh like 500 pounds).
