Dear /fit/,

18 years old, 5'8, 125lbs (horribly underweight, I know), with no access to a gym or any kind of significant exercise machine aside from a few barbells -- my question is: how do I go from what I am now (the picture on the left) to where I want to go (picture on the right) in the fastest way possible?

I'm pretty sure you just need to lose fat to make that difference.

How would one go about doing that? Running? Drinking more water?

work your abs, run, and what the hell throw in chin ups.

lol crunches. Man up and do hanging situps. They were good enough for my grandpappy, they're good enough for me.

make a sandbag
start lifting it like you would barbells.
Do ATG squats, dead lift, bench press, pull ups
Do ab work
Do cardio.
It's not complicated.

to OP, The main difference is the muscle, you seem already have a low fat percentage so it'll just be if your willing to maintain that and do quite a few sets of sit ups per day.

The person on the right has at least twenty pounds more muscle, while having a slightly lower body-fat percentage, then the person on the left.

Just bulk for a awhile, then cut off the rest of the fat.

Actually fuck that, maybe ten pounds more.

Any tips for bulking up to those 10-odd pounds without killing myself over eating?

Visible "abs" are not muscles.

Wow. I'm used to making pretty harsh posts, but in your case it isn't necessary. You're actually pretty close to that picture. All you really need to do is just build up your abs and serratus more to look like him. Go on EXRX and find yourself some ab and serratus exercises, preferably ball work, and go crazy. I'd say if you really worked at it, you could look every bit as good as that guy in under 6 months.

Also, don't listen to fat powerlifters about how to get abs.

You need to overeat to gain weight in the first place. Accept the fact that you're going to gain a little fat when bulking up. You'll just have to burn it off later.
