For all the martial artists on fit, what stretches do you do to be able to kick straight up, basically doing the splits, but standing?

I can just about do the OP pic. My teacher has us stretch by putting one leg on an elevated surface (at least waist-height), the other leg should be perfectly vertical.

Now touch your toes (the ones on the ground).

I don't know if it's THE stretch for kicking, though.
