Is there such a thing as too much fiber? I've been eating about half a box of all-bran with a pint of whole milk every morning for breakfast for the past two weeks. It's a net of about 380 calories.
>> Anonymous
You know, I was wondering the same thing. I'm eating a cup of Fiber One every morning now, which is 24g of fiber.
>> Anonymous
i would suggest varying your sources of fiber... fruits / veggies / whole grains / ect

and keep it under 40g a day... because it can get to be too much for your body to take --> massive gas + shit

how many carbs are in fiber one? half a box of all bran is about 85g of fiber, and about the same in net carbs.
>> Anonymous
Too much fiber inhibits the absorption of micronutrients from your GI tract.

link or it isn't true.

eating fiber with foods slows down absorption, and this is a good thing, up to a point. when energy is released slowly into the body, it's sustains you for like a good while. but eating carbs alone are super fast absorbed, to a damaging extreme, releasing too much insulin to compensate for the huge spike in blood sugar, which causes diabetes over 10-20-30 years of this.

HALF A BOX? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?
>> Anonymous
>>69196

Nothing, I like the taste and it fills me up, and at 380 net calories, you'll be hard pressed to tell me a couple eggs, some bacon, toast, and orange juice is healthier.

Look at the side of the box, the shit is loaded with good shit.

while it may be really healthy, its still too much

Several animal studies demonstrate that mineral absorption is in fact improved during supplementation with a variety of different fibres, including inulin, RS, cellulose, SP and pectin.167-170 In healthy volunteers, slightly negative effects for some minerals and trace elements at higher doses of SP (e.g. 40 g) have been shown,167,171 but others have shown no negative effect76,172 or even improved absorption.172 Longer term studies may have shown better results. In conclusion, impaired mineral absorption is only likely to be of consequence with extremely high intakes of fibre and phytate, or when mineral and trace element intake is limited, which is not the case with fibre-enriched enteral formulas.

I am a fatass working in a convenience store surrounded by sugar. My new breakfast costs all of three dollars a day, and infintessimally healthier than say, a couple debbie cakes and some beef jerky. I can eat breakfast around 5:30 and get by with a diet pepsi until I leave at 10am. This is a miracle, trust me.

Nevermind, found it, not nearly enough fiber.

I think i'm going to switch to Fiber One, it has even more fiber per serving, and no sugar.

Yet you probably wouldn't think twice about someone ingesting 1k+ calories from eating a full english breakfast.
>> Anonymous
>>70178

You must not be up on your measurements either, a pint of milk is about two servings of milk.
>> Anonymous
Half a BOX?
Half a box of any cereal can't be good for you, no matter how good it is.
>> Anonymous
>>70182
The only reason anyone should ever eat an English breakfast is as a quick cure for a bad hangover. Of course I would object to someone eating like that EVERY FUCKING MORNING.

>>70183
Never really learned pints since the measurement isn't used here. Still seems like an awful lot for one meal, but apparently I eat small meals.
>> Anonymous
Ok, half the box would be 262.5 grams. A serving size (half a cup) of the stuff is 26 grams. Thats a tiny bit over 10 servings. Each serving has 50 calories. Thats 500 calories right there.

Now the milk. A cup of whole milk is 150 calories. A pint would make it 300 calories.

So, you eat 800 calories, not 380.

Does anyone here eat Fiber One? How does it taste?
>> Anonymous
>>70209
I do. I eat a cup a day, which is 120 calories, plus half a cup of milk, comes out to 160 calories.

To be honest, I think it tastes fine. It's no Lucky Charms, but it's filling. If you seriously think it's just disgusting though, you're a faggot. I've grown to like it, and I never did actually not like it, so yeah, good stuff.
>> Guil
You obviously don't see anything wrong with it and wont so why even make the thread, enjoy your half a box of cereal.

Just realized that Fiber One has artificial sweeteners in it. Shit sux. Gonna go with the All-Bran instead. It may have HFCS, but it's the lesser of two evils.
>> Anonymous
>>70204

Idiot, one gram of fiber cancels out 7 calories, there are 80 calories in a serving, and 10 grams of fiber in a serving, do the fucking math.
