one of what i do for my ab routine (which works for me, probably not the best there is, but i'm buff bronze and bitchin so i don't get a whole lot of crap) is these side up things. it's more or less a situp, but on your left/right side. extend your legs out all the way, brace them against something or have someone hold your feet for you or whatever if you have to, go up more or less sideways, touch your shoes, don't move your legs at all. do 10-15 for each side, slow and controlled with full resistance the whole way up and down.
keep in mind this is part of a larger routine
