hay /fit/

I wake up at 6AM, do bodyweight exercises (pushups/crunches) in between 6:20 and 7, then run until about 7:30, then shower and go to work

the first thing I eat during the day is a bowl (1 cup) of oatmeal; I eat it at 8:30 and I slice up a whole banana into it

would it be better to eat the oatmeal with protein (such as nuts or an egg) instead? should I be eating sooner/later after running?

Is it fine the way it is?

Thanks.

Add protein, eat as soon after exercise as possible.

yes, absolutly, protein is essential in muscle building and tone. you should eat 2 eggs for breakfast in the morning alont with the oatmeal (carbohydrates) every morning to replenish the energy you have spent.

keep the banana as well, potassium helps prevent lactic acid build up

1 cup oatmeal + banana + 2 eggs? Doesn't that seem like a bit much?

for the record, I eat the same thing every day:

- 8:30AM: 1 cup oatmeal + banana
- 10:00AM: orange
- 11:30AM: apple
- 1:00PM: no-salt-added water-packed tuna on whole wheat + mustard
- 3:00PM: 1/2 cup unsalted walnuts (soon to be almonds)
- 6-ishPM: small salad (no dressing), 1/2 cup brown rice + 2 cups green vegetables + 1 skinless chicken breast + lots of Frank's RedHot Sauce

then more pushups/crunches before sleep

Wouldn't that be too much food total?

I don't know you people eat so little. At the minimum, I eat the following during the course of a day:

1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup Fiber One, 1 apple, 1 banana, 3 scoops of whey, 1 scoop of casein, 2 cups of milk, 4 slices of bread, 1 can of salmon, 1 chicken breast, 1 sweet potato, and assloads of vegetables (I don't count them).

And I'm still hungry and dropping fat like it's out of style.

Anyways, two eggs only totals to around 110 calories, so it shouldn't affect you that much.

OP is a little paranoid, sorry

it took a ridiculous amount of willpower to overcome the guilt of adding daily walnuts (was super hungry all the time), then an additional amount of willpower to overcome the additional guilt of adding the sandwich (see above)

I'm still hungry at night usually, but it's just difficult to convince myself it's a good idea

bah

so tomorrow: add 1 (or 2) eggs into my oatmeal? (probably hard-boiled, then sliced)

IN the oatmeal? Can't you just eat them separately?

Actually

yeah, that's a way better idea

Sorry, I'm dumb

Nooooooooo

Some of us have 6-10 eggs in the morning. Just eat the whites, and only one or two yolks.

Mmmm, protien.

6 to 10 = far too many; I'm not bodybuilding, just trying to achieve moar leanness (OP is 5' 11", 155 lbs., used to be 215 lbs. a year ago)

so final question: I'm going to finish up bodyweight stuff soon, then run for about ~25 minutes

would it be best to have oatmeal + 2 eggs (though that seems like a lot... maybe I should only have one) as SOON as I get back from running?

turns out I don't have any eggs :(

so I'm just going to put the walnuts (that I would normally eat at 3) in with my oatmeal

Maybe tomorrow, /fit/

6-10 eggs far to many? I eat about 18-36 egg whites a day and I've never been in better shape because of this diet

*nods*

Egg whites, whites.

I agree though, that is too many whole eggs.

Thanks dude, now i want breakfast.

Never do any weight training, even just bodyweights, before you eat breakfast. And you need more protein in your diet.

mixed messages are mixed

also: it's extremely difficult for OP to do any exercise at all while there's food in my stomach, so I'm currently opting for after (unless it's really THAT important)
