Light mode is practically useless though, not even getting your heart rate up. Medium or Heavy mode is ideal, just enough to get the blood pumping, the heart beating, and the lungs working. The 10 foot songs are not much more effective and will simply tire you out too fast. The import thing to remember with DDR is pacing. You want to keep moving, and to be able to move for longer periods of time. Overdoing it will only discourage you.
