how many calories does /fit/ burn during a workout session? whenever im on cardio workout machines it seems like it takes forever for the calorie counter to move.

workout for 1-2min every few days with freeweights/bodyweight, probably burn 200-300 calories only

every once in a while, like once a month, i do a hardcore bike ride where I probably burn 1000 calories in 40 min

If you ran a 5 minute mile (pretty quick mile and for over twice as long as you were saying you burn 100-200 calories for) you would still only burn about 126 calories. I don't know where you're getting your estimates. Calories don't just jump off you. You actually have to work.

It does, but it'd take longer if you weren't doing anything. You are always burning calories...I wouldn't take into consideration calories burned more so than weight lost. It's like being a day trader and making a long term investment. The long term investment will make money for you and you won't worry about it.

I don't know about how much during weights, but I burn off ~400 - 750cals for 20-45 mins of HIIT cardio.

I pretty much just try to go as intense as I think I can maintain for the planned duration on most days and then go light on other days.

I just wanna know where you get your information from. First of all, burning calories would be easier for a larger person it would seem...They burn more calories by doing less because they have more to carry/move around. (Also, not fat...5'10, 150 lbs)

Second, "freeweights/bodyweights" for two minutes will not burn more calories than 5 minutes of intense running. 12 mph is pretty fast for running. If these calculators are even "CLOSE" (within 100 which isn't even close when we are talking in terms of small numbers) you still are saying you burn more calories "200-300" in less than half the time. It just doesn't make sense.

I just realized fit doesn't know what the fuck it's talking about.

Lets take the treadmill for example. If your on the fucking treadmill and you type in that your 300 fucking pounds instead of 150 fucking pounds, and your fucking heart rate is 180-190 the whole time instead of 140-150, and your doing 8 miles and hour instead of 3 your going to get a different fucking count then anyone else. I might do 6.5 miles an hour for a fucking hour and burn 400 calories while someone else might burn 800 calories.

Is fit really this fucking stupid. I'm starting to think it's all inexperienced fat asses and skinny fags who have never set foot in a fucking gym, know nothing about health and excerise, and depend on stupid gimmicky workout routines because some back woods website said you can do "x", "y" number of times and get the result of "z" every fucking time.

side note i did HIIT twice today, both 20 minutes long. 1-1 intervals and i almost died after each of them. the calorie counter shit said that i burned around 195 or something but it was close to 200 for each 20 minute session.

Numbers are important because they help you when you don't actually understand health. When I started everything was centered on numbers. Now that I understand, I try to remain aware of the approximate kcals in my food, and the approximate kcals in my workout, but neither truly matters because my diet is clean and my workouts are hard.

tl;dr- Numbers are useless to someone who knows what they're talking about, but they make god training wheels.

my warm up runs burn 150 cals, and my 30 minute HIIT cardio burns around 500. Plus I do 10 minutes of skipping and only around 20-30 minutes of weight lifting.

So i'd say around 800-900 caloires are burned (I only eat about 1100 calories a day, so it's helped a lot with my weight loss)

That's why you do aerobic for 30min-1 hour.

60 minutes @ 10 calories per minute is still 600 calories burned, not to mention the boost to your normal metabolism and energy throughout the day. With the rare exceptions of Michael Phelps and extreme cold adventurers, you won't burn 10,000 calories per day.
