/fit/ I have a question?

What exactly is a half-rep hero? My guess just based on assumption is someone quits their set without full reps.

How bad is this? Sometimes I am unable to complete a full set without a spotter. I always make sure I make up the reps in spades though. For example if I'm on my last set of 5 and I can only do three reps, I stop there and then do another set of three.

Is this wrong /fit/?does it make me a pussy? Should I just down the weight?

gotcha, I guess I'll use my best judgment. I always make sure I have good form down before using heavy weight.

Sometimes I'll break reps on my last set of say 5, if that's the case I probably wouldn't go down weight.

I could be wrong, but I've always thought it was someone who stopped halfway through a full range of motion

only count reps with perfect form

oh cmon... like anyone without 3years of gym training was even able to do 5perfect ATG squats in a row with reasonably heavy weights.

I thought the point was that you lower the weight until you CAN do five perfect ATG squats?

Yeah well what if I can't do it with any weight.

And what if my form is better when there's little bit of something on my back? I seem to be able to keep my core tighter and extend my hips further with heavy weights.

My point is, although my form is decent, my squats are not identical (feel diffirent) and therefore some of them are better than others. Can't I just be looking for that optimal hip drive while continuing to break PR's? It's not like I'm risking injuries or anything.

I would still be squtting 135pounds if I was such a bitch about form...

yeah because, you know i can squat 300 all loose and have no problems!

Umm the whole part about having good form IS so that you don't injure yourself. Sure every rep is going to be a bit different, but if you can't do it with good form that just means your body isn't ready for higher weights.
