This just came up in another thread and I see it far too often on this board so I'm going to try to explain it for everyone. The fact is.. when trying to lose weight or gain muscle, soy milk is NOT a good option. The reason is that soy milk has high levels of estrogen. If one has a high percentage of fat soy milk will contribute to more fat on your "breast" area. When building muscle, idealy the higher level of testosterone you have the better within reason. The better choice is just regular skim milk or even 1%. Im not trying to dis soy milk, it can be a great alternative for lactose intlolerant people, but there is no reason not to drink skim milk instead on a diet and excercise plan. Also you shouldnt be drinking more than 2 cups of milk a day max anyway. The more you know!

I had no idea! I'm lactose intolerant, though, so this news really sucks for me. :(

There are things you can take for that, you know:

Currently I drink no milk whatsoever. I take Z/Centrum in the morning and then derive all my calcium needs from cheese and eggs. So far it's been good.

Milk isn't really a good option to drink, no matter if you're counting your carbs or your calories. It's meant to be drunk by infants and has way too many things you don't need.

Drink water, eat some eggs, remember your vitamin and mineral supplements and you'll be fine.

God, get it right fags. Soy contains plant estrogens which operate way differently than human produced hormones do. So unless you're a post-menopausal women whose own estrogen production has slowed considerably (allowing the plant estrogens, which are much weaker than human produced estrogen, valuable "docking space" on cell receptors), then you don't really have to worry about.

wrong, op here, after drinking it more and more your body gets used to it and will begin utilizing all the elements of the milk

Are there any other 'health' products men should be wary of?

lrn2biology. Unless your endocrinology is absolutely fucked, and you're drinking gallons of the stuff everyday for days on end, it's not going to do anything.

why should I limit myself to a couple of cups of milk a day?

So wait. I'm a chick. If I work out and replace milk with soy milk, can I lose fat off of my body but still increase my breast size?

No. If that were the case, soy products would by touted as natural breast enhancers, and therefore be all the rage.

Also, look at the majority of japanese women... they're notorious consumers of soy products; do you think they're known for their ample bosoms? I don't think so.

Do you guys remember Mocha Mix? I grew up drinking that shit, using it as milk since i was Lac Intolerant. Was that a soy product?

If that were true, all those tofu-eaters in chinkland would be obese, feminized eunuchs.
In reality, there is no population on earth that is healthier than the japs.

Which leads us to the discussion of how normal Tofu and soy is pretty valueless, unless fermented. Then anti-oxidants and other life-savers manifest, but only Asians eat that shit.
Also, edamame retains some toxins our bodies could do without until it's fermented. Which is why I personally go light on soy anything.

tl;dr
SOY MILK IS RELATIVELY EVIL (tastes funkily good though...!)
SOY CONTAINS TOXINS
LESS SOY FOR YOU, BITCHTITS
STINKY TOFU ONLY
