Hey, any Type 1 diabetics around?
I was diagnosed when I was 12, now I'm 19 and in my second year of college.
I do okay but I practically never tes. I've never had a major hypo or hyper attack. I find keping my weight down is hard, (I'm not fat, thank god) but apparantly we tend to store fat more easily, and our metabolism is affected by our blood sugar levels. How about you diabetic anon? (type 2 fatties fuck off)

tl:dr, any Type 1 diabetics?

I got diagnosed my freshman year in high school and haven't gone through anything really bad so far - but I had a hard time keeping my weight up. (it's around 115 at this point which I've been told is okay)

I test around 4 times a day (ugh) and use Lantus, Novalog, and Novalin N.

do you have to inject yourself with insulin every day?

does that suck as much as it sounds like it does

yeah, 3 times a day - in the morning, at dinner, and right before bed.

haha everyone says that, but it's not that bad. I mean, I'm used to it. It was much harder going from having someone inject me to me injecting myself, honestly.

Yup, I'm type 1 Diabetic.
Got diagnosed when I was 14.
And Sort of "milked" my illness in school to go home.
I'm on NPH and Novolog and possibly Lantus for when summer break rolls around.

But yeah.. "shooting up" isn't as bad as it is made to look like in the media as "druggies" make it appear. I do it twice a day.

The only thing that is really disappointing about being Type 1 Diabetic is limited on your caloric intake and sugar of course and carbs.

my brother takes novolog during the day and a lantus at night. Or is the other way around? Anyway, diabetes sucks, but you get used to it.

same poster, also wanted to ask a question. Does the insulin do anything for muscle mass? Because after my brother became diabetic, he started gaining a lot of it for some reason. And he hardly worked out.

Type 1 here. Been diagnosed for around a year. It's not that bad. I use novorapid 3-4 times a day and Lantus at night. The only gay thing about it is that you can gain weight really easy. Apart from that, not that bad at all really.

I'm probably going to be diagnosed with Type 1 sometime in my life. It's pretty prevalent in my father's side.
