Alright /fit/, a little help plz.

I'm a fatass. Plain and simple. I'm 6'3", 280. I've cut my caloric intake down to about 2000 a day the last 3 weeks, and I also started jogging at least 45 minutes a day.

There hasn't really been any results so far. Now I'm not expecting the weight loss to be easy, or overnight. But I would have thought that I would have lost more than 5 lbs in the last 3 weeks. WTF am I doing wrong? Is there any way to get better results without taking supplements?

For me a low carb diet work wayyyyy better then counting calories. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months with exercise and by avoiding to eating anything filled with starch like corn, potatoes, pasta, rice, white bread, chips, tortillas, pastries, and anything breaded.

And eat lots of foods high in CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid) since CLA reduces body fat. Its pretty much in foods like steak, eggs, and in goat meat and kangaroo meat if you dare try it. Or go easier way and take CLA in pill form.

How fast you've been jogging? Minutes per mile?

I'd say to decrease the intensity of your workout and make it last longer. If you're completely killing yourself with that jogging and not doing very well anyway, you'd probably be better off doing low-intensity fat burning and getting to the more hardcore cardio later. Also, not that I know you that well, but maybe cutting a few more calories wouldn't hurt? Just don't end up in starvation mode.

OP here. I'm taking it pretty slow since I have fucked up knees from playing football and wrestling when I was in highschool.

I'm averaging a mile every 10 minutes or so. This last week it's been really damn hot, so I've probably slowed down even more.

My daily diet is pretty straight forward.

Breakfast - Banana and 1 egg white small glass of orange juice

Between breakfast and lunch - a handful of unsalted mixed nuts and some fruit (usually grapes)

lunch - 2 pieces of wheat bread with honey, a fruit, and half a handful of unsalted nuts

midday snack - vegetable (nothing starchy)

Dinner - A piece of meat (usually chicken or fish) about 5 oz. and a grain (usually wild rice)

I don't drink anything but water or unsweetened iced tea except for breakfast.

I would say to knock your caloric intake down a little more, but 2000 sounds about right for someone who's 6'3".

Jogging is great for your over-all health, but it really doesn't build a hold lot of muscle. And muscle mass is what will help you really start shedding pounds. I ran into the same roadblock when I first started losing weight. I was doing an hour of DDR every day and I cut back my calories to a sane amount but I wasn't losing. Thankfully I got off my ass and did some research. After I added a few things (curls, crunches, push-ups, LOL SQUATZ, etc.) to my routine the fat literally seemed to melt off.

Also, if you don't think you'll do well on a low-carb diet it's really best not to even waste your time. I tried it for one long miserable week before going back to eating a balanced diet.

I tried a low carb diet a few years ago. It makes me unbelievably irritable and somewhat violent. I've promised my friends and family I wouldn't do it again.

It was hellish the first week, but I'm pretty much acclimated to it now. I figured that I ate myself into this situation, so I have to suffer to get out of it.

>>251269Agreed.

OP, how the fuck does that add up to 2000 calories? Do you coat your morning banana in shortening or something?

OP here again. I doubt it affects anything, but I do live in Santa Fe. The elevation here is about 7000 feet. I am moving back to a city that's close to Sea level in a couple weeks.

I eat a hell of alot of fruit during my snack between breakfast and lunch and I eat a a good amount of grain for dinner. Plus, I have enormous hands. So everything I count in handfuls is pretty large size. (I can palm a basketball pretty easily)

Safe, healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, you are doing just fine. Keep it up!

2nding that 5 pounds in 3 weeks is pretty good progress, if you intend to keep the weight off long-term (not do a crash diet).

GO TO THE GYM YOU PUSSY, jogging really slow for 45. You should be happy you lost 5lbs in 3 weeks. You want to lose more weight then you got to do more. Go to the gym and cycle (since you have bad knees)at home start doing push up or crunches or something.
