That's the tough part; everybody's body is different, so determining exactly how much you'd need to eat to be between extreme CR and normal or standard "healthy" diet is different for everybody. I only have a passing interest in CR myself, but I have similar goals to you, and I believe I've found a pretty good balance. I've been doing it for 5 years, am 24 now and I look exactly the same as I did when I was in high school, for whatever that's worth. Here's what I do:
- Maintain bodyweight at 90% of ideal (for me that works out to 135 x .9 = about 120 lbs.) I tried going lower once but I just started getting sick all the time.
-Track calories. I use FitDay and just make sure that I a) have at least 3 servings of fruits/vegetables at every meal, with a heavy emphasis on leafy green vegetables, and b) hit all of the RDAs by at least 100%, before supplements. Also, I track my weight daily, and if it drops below 120 for over a week, I add an extra 100 calories; if it goes above, I cut an extra 100 calories. Presently I maintain my weight at about 1600 calories/day, which is 100 less than it took two years ago with no corresponding change in body composition (I consider this a good thing, as slower metabolism = less aging.)
