I've not lifted in ages, I did some on monday night and it's wednesday morning now and I'm still sore. Should I wait till the soreness goes completely, I was trying to keep to a schedule of a days lifting, then a days rest, but I was wondering if I should wait till it goes completely. Also one of my arms is really painfull compared to the other, have I pulled a muscle in that arm or something?

You can lift when you're sore.

Good to know, but it feels like I have pulled something in my right arm, I'm guessing its not a good idea to lift with that arm, although I could work through the pain, I don't want to cause further damage.

Protein shake helps

If you just started you will be badly sore for the first few times. Your body is not used to the lifting.
This will get better after lets say three weeks.
If you are in real pain, do not lift.

Do some stretches and some really light lifting, loosens things up.

My thighs are aching the past few days. I had to shovel 4 tonnes (well, 2 since it was me and my dad) of gravel into wheelbarrows and dump it in the back garden. We spent around 3 hours doing it, and my thighs just ache going up/down stairs and getting up. Protein shakes? i take them. Just wondering if anyone has any remedies for sore muscles as right now im spraying deep freeze on my thighs before doing HIIT to loosen the pain a bit. The pain is bearable, but its a real demotivator : /

Pain is weakness leaving your body.

Warm up, warm up, warm up and then cool down after workout.
That greatly reduces soreness. And with greatly I mean a fuckton.
Do not stretch, especially after workout, since you increase fiber damage.
Stretching before will only lower muscle tension and increase risk of injury.
Tldr: WARM UP, do not stretch.

pain could also be cancer. or AIDS.
