Don't wanna talk to people? Get headphones. Or, better yet, get headphones and a bicycle, as long as you're not riding in high-traffic areas. If I'm in public and my iPod batteries die out, I don't take my headphones off because they're a visible sign that I'm not listening to you.
As for the diet, the easiest thing for you to do is stay away from pop, candy, ice cream... pretty much anything that tastes sweet is just empty calories.
If you MUST snack, fruit fruit fruit fruit fruit. Buy a bag of good quality Red Delicious apples (crunchiest), slice some up, and snack on 'em. If you have a fruit dryer, even better; dried fruit is so convenient, you might start convincing yourself that it's candy. If you don't have a fruit dryer, you can buy dried fruit, just don't fall for anything in a crinkly wrap (that means fruit leather).
