So I play ITG, which is pretty much just a harder version of DDR. My issue is I don't know which form of exercise to use to make myself better overall. Obviously I need stamina, but I also need something that helps leg/foot speed. Is there a specific exercise or exercises I should use to improve in these categories?

Running? That's pretty much the best exercise for stamina and leg/foot speed.

DDR and ITG are good too, just keep pushing yourself to the limit. (Don't have a heart attack, though)

Do treadmills train the same parts that plain running do? I assume they do, but just curious.

Sort of, but not really. Regular running requires you to actually propel your entire body forward. Running on a treadmill requires you to propel your legs forward while the treadmill carries them back.

I would assume they do, but I think running outside would give you a better workout based on the range of freedom you have.

But maybe that's just me being a conspiracy theorist.

The secret to running fast which it took me a long time to figure out, and is the exact problem mentioned above with treadmills, is that you need to force your legs back onto the ground when moving forward. Otherwise you spend a lot more time in the air and slow down (which is better for long distance).
