Is a hamburger still unhealthy when you make it yourself? I'm trying to stop eating junkfood but bread, meat and vegetables sounds pretty good to me.
>> Anonymous
burgers cooked right arnt uneatable just make sure you go with lean beef and keep it limited

fish and turkey are better meat choices
>> Sabby !!J9oxJsHtaZJ
It depends on how you prepare it, and the quality of the meat, I suppose. We have this thing at my house called a Flavor-Wave (or something) and it drips almost all the grease out of the meat.
If you limit your condiments (like mayo and ketchup) and stick with vegetables and some kind of whole-wheat bun, I'm sure it'll be fine.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
Grill the meat to leach gristle out, use rye burger bun (yes it exists), no sauce or cheese, load the salad and tomatoes.

You've gone too far, sir!

Everything so far sounds good. I never use cheese in my burger anyway. Thanks.

Just work off the extra calories. Burgers are too delicious to cripple like that. :(

Some may argue it. But a burger will usually be healthier if you make it by hand.

When you buy ground beef, buy a lean cut of meat and have your butcher grind it for you. Most people don't realize that they'll do this for you at any butchery.

Next, don't use those cheap ass white buns. Buy actually good bread.

Lastly, use healthy toppings. Veggies, chutney, etc are good. Ketchup and mayo... not so much.

Nothin' wrong with cheese. Just get the Kraft fat free sharp cheddar stuff. No fat...I think 2 carbs and 4 grams of protein per slice. weighs in at an ass-inflating 30 calories and tastes just fine.

It's healthy if you eat it without bun/bread.

Then its not a traditional burger faggot.

to OP: if youre actually worried about the bread go with whole wheat, its good.

If whole wheat is too much for you to handle, even the whole wheat white is a step in the right direction.

Anyway, all this talk is making me want to learn how to actually cook something other than Ramen and grilled cheese sammiches. Great burger ideas here, guys/girls/hermy's.

Whole-wheat turkey burger.
Tomatoes instead of ketchup.
Fuck your mayonnaise.
Fat free cheese.

Problem solved.

Try chutney on a burger some time. Its awesome. :3

I couldn't live without my ketchup, and I'd say "Screw you" to the tomatoes. Besides that, fuck yes.

If you ever have to eat fast food, just remember to:

Get a chicken sandwich
tell them to skip the cheese
tell them to skip the mayo

thats about 250 calories right there.

Refined sugar is usually the second most prominent ingredient in bottles of "ketchup". Ingredient lists are written in order of greatest quantity to lowest quantity, I can never find one without "buckets" of sugar. (Basically if I can taste it, it's too much). Refined sugar is associated with diabetes.

>>32001
Consider which ingredient it is you cannot live without.

Baked is always healthier than fried. When grilling with directly touching flame, don't eat burnt parts. That's not cool for the body, involving carcinogens. Or better yet, don't eat burnt anything ever.

Is it possible to get ketchup without high fructose corn syrup?
>> RSI guy !HjbWRiSTJ.
>>32057
The ingredients in a typical modern ketchup are tomato concentrate, spirit vinegar, corn syrup or other sugar, salt, spice and herb extracts (including celery), spice and garlic powder.

RSI's right, Ketchup is very shitty health-wise

I'm pretty sure of it, just not at your usual hard discount grocery stores.

Re: Burned Stuff Carcinogens. The carcinogenic substances in burned muscle meats are heterocyclic amines. I don't know enough of the chemistry to adequately explain what those are, but from what I understand they're recently discovered and nobody really knows how much is too much of them.

But everything will give you cancer. Being alive gives you cancer. Thanks for failing, DNA replication. I'm gonna keep eating grilled stuff, np.

Basically certain denatured proteins cause cancer. Cooking causes protein denaturation.

There's about 2 grams of sugar in one packet. Honestly, I'm not too worried about it.

Wendy's Ultimate Chicken Grill. Chicken, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. Some 210 calories. Get a side-salad as the side.

Or Chick-Fil-A Chicken Deluxe- same as above, but add pickles. Oh, and make sure to request "no butter".

Avoid this.
