Squats vs. cleans

Which is better /fit/

squats are easier to learn. i wanna to do cleans but it's quite hard to get the proper technique without proper coaching. reading an ebook doesn't seem to be enough.

they are different exercises that target different muscle groups. do both.

squats are the best and remain the best for all the usual reasons:

they recruit the largest muscles (and the largest amount of muscles) of any exercise, and use them through a large range of motion. therefore you do more work per rep than with any other exercise (except for probably the full oly lifts, but that's a different story). this has numerous local and whole-body benefits.
