hey /fit/ - I need some advice, I'm 5'11 and weigh 135, and trying to gain weight, I sit on my ass all day eating food and drinking unhealthy sugar filled drinks like pepsi, I also tend to plow down anything with protein.

Most of the food I eat is meat(steaks, ribs, hamburgers, buffalo wings, chicken, turkey), I eat many sandwiches, home made and from subway.

I can't seem to gain weight, I really want to get up to the 150-180 range so I can work on my muscles, Right now I do very little amounts of working out(just to get a little shape), Mostly on my triceps, biceps, abs, and upper leg area, I'm a noob,

I've got a lot more plans for the future but I need to gain a bit of weight first seeing how I am much skinnier then I want to be, Any tips /fit/?

I'm also about your size, 5'8-125. I weighed 119 this past winter and gained the five pounds from mainly doing compound exercises. Focus on squats, deadlifts, bench press, military press, etc. I was only going about 2 days a week, one day being upper body, the second being lower. My plan had me chaning my sets and reps each time. One day doing 5-5, then 4-10, and then 3-15. 5-5 is the best for the big compound workouts in my opinion, since heavier weight with fewer reps stimulates more tissue and equals more gains. At least from what I've learned.

Bump, im in the same position as you. You look heavier than 135 though.. haha. I just can't gain weight either man. I drink a lot of olive oil, im gaining weight doing it. Just take a glass of water and have a shot glass full of olive oil, try like ten tablespoons every day.
Maybe we're both ectomorphic?

I haven't gone as far as chugging olive oil. I need to start going at least 3 days a week so I can start making decent gains again. The measly five lbs was barely anything. Whey protein > olive oil? I think I'd puke if I did a shot of that

Meh. I just weighed myself and it said 123.6. I guess I better go eat 3 cans of tuna and go to the gym. I just ordered some MUSCLE JUICE since it was only 25 dollars for 10 lbs on bodybuilding.com. Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have made some better gains.

eat more rice, meat, cheese, peanut butter, drink milk, eat fish, eat chicken chest, beans, nuts, uhmm you can get those whey protein too.. but remember do not eat too much proteins if you're not working out !

I have quite a small appetite, The last few weeks or so I've been eating up to the point where I'm going to burst.

I'm tall and slender, too. Gaining weight has always been a challenge for me--I'm 6'0 and up until I was about 22 I weighed usually in the low 130s. I started doing some heavier weight-lifting then and really started pushing myself. Get your baseline for lifts like bench and squat, set some goals, and work your way up to them. My appetite became monstrous when I started lifting seriously. And listen to your gut. I made damn sure to eat well the instant I began feeling hungry. I gained about 20 pounds doing that over the course of a few months.

people with fast metaboulism should do a very big effort to gain weight. its a good idea to eat 5-7 meals a day, at least 3 of them should be rich in proteins.. also vegetables and fruits should be in your daily diet. Remember, 1/3 of the work is working out, 1/3 is nutrition.. and 1/3 is rest ;)

Um, no, because then you're ingesting excessive amounts of protein for no reason. The majority of it will just turn into shit unless your body needs it.
