Does anyone know how accurate DDR's calorie counter is? DDR's the best exercise equipment I have at the moment.

Wow, did I ever say I don't run? I do, and have been for a while, but 1) the same routine is getting rather boring, and 2) I don't really live in the safest of places.

I also believe I expressed curiosity about the calorie counter, not whether or not it's good exercise or if it makes me look gay.

The DDR's calorie counter is just a gimmick tool. I think it's actually just a normal counter with set values that doesn't actually factor in anything.

Plus, DDR doesn't actually take much effort at the really fast levels, because you use that bar behind you to brace yourself and place most of your weight there.

First time I played a ddr type game was on a hongkong rip off that had a home mat where you danced to chinese music videos. Buddy of mine brought it back from china when he went one summer. It was shitty, but interesting. That was 10 years ago.

when the game first came out in the arcades, i was a freshman in highschool. We played it for a good 2 or so years at the arcade after school. Was alot of fun since we had a good group of people playing together. Cost a shit ton of money...i shudder to think about all the quarters i have spent on videogames alone growing up.

Starting out on the arcade version, and since then tried the home pads, makes me feel that the home mats totally blow and take the fun out of playing the game.

If I were to get the game for my home console, I would shell out some money on ebay and get some hard pads, or take the time and look up a tutorial and make them myself.

I dont think you should supplement ddr for some good, healthy, outside exercise, but it def isnt bad, and is fun.

The more intense it is the more carbs it'll burn. You won't be burning much fat until you reach the later stages of the aerobic system, which would take hours. Unless you're on one of those carb free diet fads, in which case you're a fucking idiot that'll have no muscle mass or energy.

This is why intense cardio is good for fitness but bad for burning fat. And this is why you see so many fat people with surprisingly good stamina. Also, the more you do cardio, the more resistant your body becomes to it.

Your body is now resistant to cardio and your fat will pretty much never fall off this way. You'll need to eat healthy, eat more often but in smaller portions (your metabolism will be sped up due to the frequency of its demand) and gain more muscle mass (every pound of lean muscle mass contributes to speeding up your metabolism rate).

For the newfags, your metabolism is what burns your fat automatically while you sit there and do shit all. The faster the better in the interests of fat loss.

oh, that was about a year ago. i dropped another 10 since then. i've stalled at that but i've also pretty much stopped doing any cardio specifically (was working landscaping and walking 15-20 miles a day on top of heavy lifting and other shit that goes with landscaping like digging holes, hauling shit around in a wheelbarrow etc) and didn't drop any more weight although most of my lifts went up

I lost a bunch of weight when I first was starting off with DDR. I would go and run 3 miles, and then go to the local arcade for a few games. DDR can be good for cardio but it can't be your only form of it if your planning to lose weight.

And everyone else is right with the Metabolism. Eating right is the #1 way to burn fat.

Bitches you are so wrong. I lost 25 pounds in 3 months doing nothing but playing DDR for 45 minutes a day and eating right. Running is fucking boring, weights make you look like a meathead idiot, but DDR is an entertaining way to get some cardio in. Diet is still important, of course, but going from 5'9" 195 to 170 are some fucking results that you can suck on.

I pretty much use it as a fun way to get my heart rate up before I do 'real' exercises.

Recently found out I had thyroid disease, so yeah, I could lose some of my weight by just sitting there and letting my medicine work, but I'd rather become fit and have more stamina at the same time. Some muscle to help me look a little bit sexier wouldn't hurt too. ;D
