Obesity Anonymous
When it comes to childhood obesity, I have a theory.

When a person uses drugs, common sense is no longer a factor except for when it comes to drugs, where to get them and how to take them. Thereafter they experience a long-term condition I refer to as "habit-feeding." It's defined by doing whatever it takes to feed the hunger in the mind so the addict no longer has to go through withdrawals.
Back to common sense. People who use drugs also have unprotected sex because they don't have the common knowledge it takes to go to the grocery store and pick up some condoms for $4.95. After all, that's five bucks less they spend on the drugs they need.
Eventually these drug users will inevitably become parents; unless they're sterile from all the using or infertile. If these people don't pass on dangerous diseases to their child or have miscarriages, this child will be born into the same habits as their parents.
Every child looks up to their parents and wants to do and eat exactly like the parents do, and most parents are smart enough not to indulge their child every time they ask for something. Unfortunately, children of drug-users will normally get whatever they want because of the aforementioned "habit-feeding."
It's the exact same childish voice inside the addict's head saying "I NEED THIS TO LIVE," except that it's coming from outside which makes it that much more real. This person will indulge their child no matter what, and the child will likely grow up with the habit-feeding addictive personality, and have children that act exactly the same way.

So if you're a fatass, go on a diet. Stop eating shit, and go work out. Get liposuction and stop eating shit.
Whatever it takes to stop destroying the health of our nation's future children.

Of course this only accounts for a fraction of cases of obesity in children 12 and under.

True. My sister in law (only 13) is the daughter of a drug user. While she is grossly underweight, the indulgence is almost the exact same in behaviour when it comes to other things. She constantly steals things from her siblings and doesn't expect to get caught, and refuses to drink out of anything but a sippy cup.

How my wife turned out a gymnast with a job and her own apartment I will never understand.

Some little kids are fat because their parents "love them too much." So the parents buy stuff for their kid that they like (fast food, candy, sugary drinks) because they love them.
Basically some kids are fat because their parents don't know a kiss from a cookie.
Btw, I'm saying this because when I was little my family was like this, and plus I've seen this in a few other families.

My case was similar.

When I was in high school, I got home before my mother and was stuck in a foodless house. My mother would always bring me home fastfood because she didn't want to cook when she got home due to being tired.

Anyway, I learned how to cook myself and make sure to always fill the house with healthy food so I'm good now.

Looking back at old photos of me, I was too big...yet my family always said at the time "you're a nice size."

My mom was always broke, but refused to force fast food or other crap down my throat. She just cooked from scratch, 'cause it's cheap and way better for you than cheap fast food. By the time I was 10 I actually had ripped abs.
Unfortunately my aunt was crazy and would see that I wasn't a pudgy little kid and would get angry at me for not clearing my plate and that influence caused me to be somewhere around 50 lbs overweight as I am today.
