hey /fit/ ive got a bit of a problem
im female, 5' 2" and 125lbs, and im trying to lose about 15lbs, however when i look up the approximate calories for such a goal, i always get a message that says something along the lines of 'it is unsafe to take in less than 1400 calories a day'

i DO excersize, 3 times a week for dance, but this isnt enough for me too keep eating as much as i am and loose the weight
any suggestions?

No reason for you to lose weight with those measurements.

Might I suggest you see a shrink to check for an eating disorder?

Wanting to lose weight at 5'2" and 125 is not an eating disorder.

I seriously hate how people can't relate height to weight.

5'2" is 100-110 lbs depending on build.

at 125lbs im not exactly skinny - i have rather small bones and tiny wrists, so the weight looks heavier on me than it might normally look on another person of regular bone structure

I honestly don't think a little extra hurts there.
I wouldn't think about it.

as nice as it is to hear that i shouldn't worry about it, i really would like to loose a few more pounds, so are there any suggestions for # of calories, or different types of food i should be considering?

If you insist, it depends upon a few factors.. how active you are for instance. Around 1900 calories would keep you the same, so less than that.

Ask your doc. If the doc says the thing about it being unsafe to take in under 1400 calories, or if the doc says that it's unsafe/unnecessary to lose weight, then you should probably trust the doc as well as>>130356and>>130362. If the doc says it's fine to lose the weight, s/he should know some reliable tricks.

why would you need 1400 calories/dy to lose weight. couldn't you just do 1600 and looooooooooooose it a little slower?

Calorie controlled diets are nt the only option, it's what you eat really

Cut out white bread. Eat only wholemeal carbs, such as wholemeal bread and pasta. Have plain oatmeal made with water for breakfast. Eat fruit as snacks instead of candy. Try and include some veg with every meal, say if you're making a sandwich, throw some lettuce and tomato on it. Also, for proties eat lean mats and fish. Tuna, slamon, beef, all relatively cheap and fulfilling.

With a diet comprimising of these foods you can stick to a diet of around 1500 or more calories a day but still lose a lot of weight

if you want to go easy this is what has worked for me:

- no white bread: use a rice cookie or ONE slice of whole grain bread.
- no sodium: it will help you shed water weight. this means no salt and no saccharin. use other sweeteners or try to go w/o them. keep hydrated, though.
- no carbs in the evening. you'll crave them as i do, but try to resist.

With your measurements, I think 15 might be a bit much. Try in between 5 - 10 lbs.

Faggots stop telling her she looks fine.

Very little of that weight is muscle because she's a female, so she's a wobbling mess.

She's a dancer. I've NEVER seen a wobbling dancer.

As a personal trainer I would suggest getting on a website like johnstonefitness.com and get on their forums and look at marcus's guide to nutrition. I would put you at 1700 calories starting off with a macro ratio of prolly 40/40/20 or maybe a 33/33/33 and with 3 days of lifting weights. Yes women need to lift weights to get slim and get that tones look everyone wants. Put down the salads and pick up the steaks.
