How do I built up abs?

I hear tell that situps and scrunches aren't enough/the right way to go about it.

Personally I follow the 40/30/30 diet.

Your caloric intake should be 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat. Plus eat smaller meals (5-6 small meals) over the day.

Seems to be working great for me. Waist is already down to 39" (from 42" before I started on it).

He's not after defined abs, he's after building up muscle.

If you go to a gym then you want to sit on an inclined bench so your head is close to the floor and your legs are high up. Then get a weight on your chest, cross your arms on it and do crunches/situps. The steeper the bench and the higher the weight the harder it is, so you can work your abs like you would your biceps. 8-12 reps, failing on your third set.
