Get at least 7 hours of sleep. 40 minutes of cardio is a lot if you're running at a fast pace. Remember to stretch before and after too, usually twice as much after than before.
I also heard that during any sort of cardio, it's good to speed up and sprint in mid-workout. It raises your overall heart rate throughout the workout, and burns more calories to boot (as opposed to just raising your speed very slightly through the overall workout).
