Alright /fit/, lets see if you can help me out.

I'm a teenage boy. I'm pretty skinny. I have a small amount of fat on me, but it's not a big deal. I've been improving my eating habits alot lately, and also I started doing everyday routine exercise about 4 months ago. I started out just doing push ups and sit ups, but now I'm also doing pilates at home, with some DVDs. I switch off the abs workout and the lower body workout every other day, 5 days a week. The last day I do whatever I feel like. I lift not very heavy weights at all, like 8 pounds, but I'm saving up money to buy heavier ones. I have fairly strong legs and alright arms, but not much muscle in my abdominal area. I also run in cross country.

now I got a few things I'd like to ask about.

First off, I'd really like to have a nice looking upper body. abs, pecs, ect.
The pilates seems to be helping a little bit, but not as much as I had hoped.

I haven't been doing other exercises because I read somewhere that after exercising for 30 minutes in one day, everything after that will not be beneficial.
Does that mean it will stop burning calories and only build muscle, or do neither?

If that information is false, what exercises do you recommend me doing?
I do not currently have money for the Gym, so I'd have to do things I could do at home.

Now about weights.

For my arms I only lift 8 pounds, like I said before, but I do many reps.
What weight do you think I should get next?
I also want to get ankle weights, but I heard they mess up your legs. Is this true?

if so, what else can I get to really work out my legs.
If not, what weight should I get the ankle weights?

The last things I'm wondering about it food.
I'm trying to eat as healthy as possible, getting the better choice whenever possible.
But me and my family are currently very low on money, so it's difficult to getting the expensive healthy food.

What kinds of foods are very healthy but at low prices, and where can I get them?

if anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated.

please and thank you.

Pilates is a good start. For your upper body, push-ups, hands wide apart push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, handstands, handstand push-ups, dips.

Abs, i.e core. Start with l-sits, leg raises, crunches, planches.

Legs, come on you should know by now...SQUATZ. One-legged squats, lunges.

Complete and utter bullshit. 30 fucking minutes is a joke.
