/fit/, how many calories does your body burn up from normal activities, like walking around, watching TV, sleeping, etc?
>> Anonymous
For men? Between 2000 and 2350
For women it's 2000-2100 or so.

NO IDEA BUT WANT THAT MOAR OF HER

The more muscles you have the more you burn in a day from normal activities right?

wow...really that much? 2,000-ish?
then you could say that if I eat 1,000 a day I'm actually losing calories and thus burning fat, right?

you'll mostly burn muscles, but yes, you'll lose fat as well.

so the plan would be...say...
you consume 2,000 calories
the body burns 2,000 on normal activities
you burn 500 through a workout...what then? do you burn fat directly, considering the calories are over with?

This seems like the thread to ask this in...

I'm eating ~ 5 small meals a day around 300 calories each, but sometimes near the end of the day I'm really feeling hungry(rumbling stomach) and I'm just about ready to go to bed. At this point I haven't eaten for about 1-2 hours.

Should I just go to bed, or have another small meal and tough it out for about another hour?

Mostly, it's less what you burn by working out and more what you burn/convert while the muscles repair.

Have a small snack, some raisins, a banana or some peanuts/cashews, nothing too heavy.

Great. Thank you.

Spread out even more your meals or drink a glass of cold water.

Or have a really quick protein shake. And I mean a natural one. Like, egg whites and half a banana blended together.

5*300 = 1500 calories. 500 deficit? What, are you not even exercising with this diet, or are you just a midget?

I need some help with my squat for /fit/

I was doing fine until recently, The base of my neck/bone in between my shoulder blades really hurt from the bar and I was told to shrug my shoulders more and lower the bar a little bit more onto my back.

Now my legs don't feel like they're doing anything, my back just hurts like a bitch, not a good sore either just fucking pain... and the bar is rubbing on another bone so it didn't really solve anything.

Should I go back to the 'high bar' squats I was doing?

What is the right form for a regular squat for someone who's fairly new to them?

Nononono this is WAY too high of a number.

The general rule for determining your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is your weight x 10. So if you weight 140, you can rely on your body to burn at least 1400 by just doing it's thing.
