Hay /fit/,

I'm a 23 year old male, about 5'9'' and 210 pounds, pretty much a fatass. I've started a diet and exercise program to try to get down to 170 lbs. I've been eating 1800 hundred calories a day, strictly, and have been doing aerobic exercise 4 times a week for half an hour each time.

Here's the deal: I've only got 16 weeks before this becomes impossible to continue (grad school) and was wondering if anyone could provide any tips to speed up my weight loss, as I figure I'll need to lose about 10 extra pounds to meet my goal. I'm already getting pretty sore (bum knee) from my current exercises and it would really hurt to cut the diet back any further.

Sorry to whine like that, just looking for some info.

How have you been eating? Swithc to eating 5 - 6 smaller meals a day instead of 3 large ones. This will keep your bodies metabolism going
I cannot stress how important your eating pattern is as well as your diet, they go hand in hand

16 weeks is plenty of time to strip off 10lbs, just keep eating right and maybe make your excercises more intense as you progress

Half an hour really isn't long at all, you should try to do at least an hour.

Why is it impossible to work out in grad school? Everybody should be able find/make time to exercise that much. 4 x 30mins really isn't a lot.

If you are doing aerobic exercise you don't need a long time to recover. Training more than 4 times a week will help you. Training twice a day is perfectly possible if you have the motivation.
