Hello mis/fit/s,

I am 5'8 or so and currently 250 lbs. I'm 20 years old. Since May 25th, I've been calorie counting and I lost 12 lbs in the first two months. However, after that, progress has been stagnant even though I'm eating about 2k calories a day. My BMR says to eat about 2.2k in order to lose 2 lbs a week. Is the lack of progress because of my body adjusting to the lowered calorie intake? It's frustrating to see no progress because there's this girl (of course). Also, I started walking on the hills around my house for 1 hour or so per day. I did it for about three weeks and I saw changes in my body, but didn't drop any weight. Is this weird?

tl;dr I need to lose weight fast, but progress has frozen even though I'm calorie counting.

My goal is 200 for now if there's any constellation in revealing this.

Similar problem, except I'm a girl. I've been eating one meal (about 300-500 calories) a day, plus several glasses of juice (another 200-400 calories) a day, and I lost a lot of weight, but I stopped dead at 145 pounds. I can't seem to lost any more weight, yet I'm still a fatass.

Dont go by weight for your progress,go by looks. Also start running a bit, maybe get a bike,or at least a gym membership. No matter what,if you dont put on some decent muscle you're going to end up looking skinny-fat

Well typically what I do is I walk up and down the hill twice. This takes about 40 minutes and then I just run the one block to get back home.

Problem is that I'm scared of really running because of my weight. I've had shin split problems before or at least it felt like my shins were splitting. Anyway, I will run eventually, but just scared and I'm going to need new headphones because the iPod earbuds I currently have always fall out when I run.

understandable, but try to pick up the pace some.and a gym membership is going to help you reach your goal a lot quicker than without heavy ass weights

Also, about the skinny fat thing, I can already see that forming. The thing is, my body doesn't get big the same way most people do. I gain fat in certain areas and those areas only. For example, I can feel and see the bottom of my ribcage sticking out, but I have huge moobs and a big gut. It's frustrating and it feels like my fat is only being lost in areas that aren't exactly exclusive to my interests such as the gut and chest. Also, thighs are fucking huge too because I know I have muscle under there, but lots of fat cover it so it just looks fucking huge.

I have two 25lb. dumbbells at home and I can't afford gym, much less have the time to go to one because I can't drive yet and I go to college, etc. I plan to do the cardio in the hills on days when I have the time and on the other days, just do 2 sets of 20 curls and 2 sets of 20 squats. Anything else I can add onto that regimen? Something simple please and something that aims for either the chest or the gut.

I still don't understand how you are all fat, you clearly have endless free time, shit... I got ripped just doing pushups/pullups/crunches for eat death in CS and that was in high-school. You guys literally piss all your void-time down the drain? just eatin by that computer?

How do we clearly have free time? I'm on the computer right now not only talking about how fat I am, but I'm also doing a 1500 word essay which will be followed by a 1000 word essay for class tomorrow.

ooo essays, so tough... can't possibly find 40 minutes a day to work out in for the past 10+ years of your life... naw too many essays.

Your work out routine is a joke. You need some sort of weight training and more/better cardio. Instead of walking you should run/walk, for you i recommend 60 minutes of walking with jogging thrown in ever 15 minutes for 1 minute straight (buy a stopwatch). Also start doing pushups and sit ups. The bigger your main muscle groups are the more calories you'll burn doing everyday activities. Also try watching what you eat instead of just how much. Lots of fiber (fruits and veggies), and LEAN protein (chicken, fish, and lean beef).

You might be running up against your body's starvation mechanism. When you reduce your calorie consumption below your daily requirement, your body concludes it's starving and slows down it's metabolism to match this new calorie intake.

The answer to this problem is calorie cycling. Over a week, you might need 20,000 calories to maintain your body weight. As long as your total consumption for the week is lower than 20,000, than you will lose weight. So it doesn't matter if you eat more than you need on one day aslong as your under 20,000. So an example of a cycle might be two days below your BMR, one day above. The one day above inhibits the starvation mechanism.

this, the push ups and sit ups will target your chest and gut.

Very helpful and I greatly appreciate it. I know it's a joke, that's why I asked if anyone could help me add to it. The cardio thing I think I can do that. But instead of the 15 minute thing, I'm just going to do this: Start jogging every time that hill has a sort of flatter surface. Watching what I eat is so hard lol. I mean, at home, I have some frozen 5 year old meats and lots of condiments. At my college, the only thing good is the sandwiches. Are egg salad sandwiches okay to eat? I get those with some veggies and wheat bread. Also, the only other alternatives I have are like Starbucks, Mexican food, Pizza, Panda Express (fucking nasty), Burger Bitch, and Jack in the Box.

Should I replace the sit ups with crunches? I hear that sit ups only work out your hip flexors.

Muscle weighs more than fat. Trust your reflection, not the scale.

Yes, I care about how I look rather than my weight, but it says something to be 250 lbs at only 5'8.

Ok like i said in my first post, watch what you eat. For example, if you get a pizza, get only 1 topping (preferably a veggie) and thin crust, instead of a burger, get a chicken sandwich. Rule of thumb for meat is the bigger the animal it came from, the bigger it'll make you. The changes don't have to be intense or anything, just try to cut back on fatty/greasy foods. And fiber, lots of fiber. Fiber makes you feel full so that you don't overeat, also helps with digestion. Try to eat a green veggie or fruit with every meal.

Alright well I'm almost always at Starbucks and so I'm wondering. How does sugar convert into fat? I'm always finding myself drinking something or eating some type of snack from there and sure as hell it has loads of sugar. I typically get an unsweetened iced tea with some type of juice such as lemonade or apple juice, but still, sugar may still be present.

wtf do stars have to do with anything

your doing something wrong if you've only lost 12lbs in 2 months and you're that fucking fat

i mean, someone who is only a little overweight can cut 2lbs/wk fairly easily

someone fat should be dropping like 4-5lbs/wk at first

Not OP, but I've dropped 2 kilos (about 5lbs) a week for the last 3 weeks, just buy eating healthy, and exercising more.

As for the running thing, I can't run due to me being so over weight it fucks up my knees. So I've got to lose weight before I can do that. It's a cruel cycle.

I'm currently solving the world oil problem, breading cheetah's with badgers, and solving the prison crowding problem in california, all while jogging up hill, using my blackberry and smoking a cigarette.

whats your problem?
