Is there any point in doing push ups? /fit/ has told me before that doing more push ups won't help build strength in the muscles, just endurance. Well, why should I want endurance? I just want shapely arms.

Whoever told you doing more push-ups doesn't build strength was just making shit up. If you are doing push-ups in proper form and you are maxing out on them you will build muscle.

Now obviously because you are working with the same amount of weight it is going to have diminishing returns so once you hit 50+ you are going to be building very little. But that is only regarding normal push-ups. And its pretty obvious that you are going to be building up more endurance and lactic acid threshold in a way you can't by weightlifting.

You can get Goku arms doing shit like weighted push-ups, hand-stand push-ups and other advanced stuff. But if you are looking mainly for muscle size then you need to graduate to weights.

I can do 50 diamond push-ups with no problem, and I never do them, just heavy bench and shoulder presses.

Well,, bench and shoulder press doesnt really target the triceps like diamondpushups though... Triceps is just a synergist while benching..

You are going to get old eventually. Endurance helps prevent that. The more older you get the more time it takes your muscles to recover.

You use your muscles for something right? It's useful to gain endurance.
