/fit/,

I'm coming to you from the /co/ board in search of advice. I'm 6'1, 216 lbs, and would like to shed some weight. I'll be reasonably happy to be under 200, anything after that is bonus. I'm -only- interested in losing weight, however. I don't mind toned muscles, but I have no interest in some bodybuilder physique.

Points of interest:
-I don't eat terribly much. Usually, my daily intake will consist of some combination of sandwiches (processed turkey or leftover chicken), roaster chickens (not the whole thing in one sitting), fettuccine or spaghetti, chili, or stuffing. (Yes, I know a substance that's basically boiled bread and butter is probably bad for me.)
-I don't eat a lot of junk food. My worst day is Friday, when I usually don't have time to grab anything beyond drive-thru. I hardly ever drink soda (again, Fridays).
-I have a Wii Fit. I try to get on every day, though I get lax on weekends. It is my substitute for a gym membership, because I have no idea where a gym is around here, and I vastly prefer not having to drive out of my way to exercise.

Here are my questions for you, /fit/.
-What healthy foods can I eat? (Note -foods-, not powders.) Friends have suggested rice and beans, but I have no idea what to get or how to prepare these. I have done the occasional packaged rice mix (Spanish rice, 99-cent flavored rice, etc.), but I don't know how well these qualify as healthy.
-What exercises should I be doing w/ the Wii Fit? I've focused mostly on cardio so far, but the impression I've gotten from skimming these boards is that I should alternate with muscle building exercises.
-Any other tips you all might have for losing weight?

Thanks,

Buy a crapload of different vegetable and learn to like them. Taste every one of them at least on ten different occasions. Look up recipes with those ingredients in them. Eat some lean meats. Start counting calories, it's a pain in the ass in the beginning but you'll get over it. Figure out your basal metabolic rate and drop your daily intake 500 calories lower than that.

Read the newbie guides under the topics you want. It has a lot of ads, but it's good stuff.

Also, for burning calories, google "HIIT training". It hurts like hell at first and feels like you're going to die, but it works.

Okay, from the top:
>bodybuilder physique
Not going to happen without serious time & effort. It doesn't fucking happen by accident.

Fridays
>Fix them then. If you can't buy anything else, try making something. Cut soda out completely, everywhere serves something else.

>healthy foods
Fruit, vegetables, meat, fish... most natural things are fine if you eat them right... ie not deep fried, etc.

>powders
Dunno bout anyone else, but I tend to drink them...

>rice and beans, but I have no idea what to get or how to prepare these
What are you, retarded? You must know how to boil something.

>packaged rice mix
god no. Bout as healthy as fast food, because they are.

>exercises should I be doing w/ the Wii Fit?
Throwing it out of window is good. You have legs, go for a run.

>other excercises
There's plenty of stuff you can do without equipment, loads of bodyweight and calisthenics. Try burpees, press ups, crunches.

>other tips
It's not the quality of food, it's the quantity. Eating a thousand carrots still makes you fat as much as eating a thousand hamburgers.

I think that's everything...
