Hey /fit/. Starting Strength day one tomorrow. Just looking for tips/pointers/experience. Is it really taboo to mess with the program like the article says? No adding pushups or crunches or anything at the end? Most importantly, should I continue my cardio? My workout will be mostly MWF SS tues and thur I do hiit jump rope and saturday I jog if I don't work late. Will the cardio cut into my gains from Starting Strength? I don't want to burn off too many calories on one day if I'm trying to pack them on the next

The recommendation is to do 20 minutes on the bike for a warm-up before lifting, in addition to ramping up with a few sets in the squat before starting your work sets. And yes, 3 exercises are really enough. In case you can't find it, you should be working in the range of 85% of your 1RM.

>What if I don't want to do squats or deadlifts.
>You're a pussy. Go find some old lady to carry your groceries and help you across the street.. You'll want to find another hobby while you're at it, perhaps knitting.

Your current routine sucks. Do the fucking program as written, drink your fucking milk, forget cardio, put on some real weight and muscle. Also buy the book, the wiki is only good as a quick reference.
