/fit/, I'm an anorexic white male (5'9" 127 lbs), who doesn't want to be anorexic anymore. The problem is, is that I have no problem having the willpower to lose weight, but every time I put on weight when I weigh myself each morning, I get really depressed and work out that day even harder to make sure I retain the weight I was at. Also, anytime I eat anything that's unhealthy like 1 chocolate bar in a month, it also kills me mentally.

Help.

Youre going to have to seek professional help. Btw, the first thing theyre going to say is throw your scale out. DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF EVERY MORNING!

then quit eating unhealthy shit. you don't have to eat junk food to gain weight, and you don't have to eat junk food to get maintenance calories. go eat a bowl of oatmeal.

I know the feeling OP, one of my managers at work is leaving for a new job and he gave everyone a chocolate bar. that was three weeks and it's still on my mind, Fuck being anorexic though, goddamn, feel free to obsess over what you eat but don't killl yourself.

i think 1 chocolate bar a month is fine, its only 210 calories over 30 days - once in awhile is fine, as long as its not everyday

on the bmi chart, you're about 18.5. which is just above underweight, and barely healthy weight. id just find the weight you want, and keep yourself there

I'm the same way. No matter how bad you wanna be better, it just kills you to see the weight go up, even a little bit.

I'm 6'1". When I started I went from 170 to 128. I decided I wanted to quit so I started working out and eating right. Got up to 140 with some nice muscles, then freaked out and went back down to 134. Now I'm eating and working out again, up to 137 today and my muscles look even more defined.

I dunno what I'm doing but I like getting more muscle and less fat. People say I look good now, and especially don't think I look sickly thin like I looked at 128 lbs (16.9 bmi)

Hey, I know how you feel. It's scary gaining weight when you're anorexic and trying to recover. If you truly want to recover, you need to first do this: Fix your mental state. Reprogram your brain. It will take a long time. Weeks, maybe even months, before it starts taking effect. Take it from someone whose still recovering from it... It's all mental. Go see a therapist who specializes in ED. It helps a lot. Don't go to a recovery facility or any of that bullshit, because most likely you'll just relapse when you get out of it because you'll be terrified of how much weight you gain while in one. Exercise, and eat healthy, but don't over-exercise. Throw out the scale. I know it's hard but if you really want to get better you have to make these sacrifices. At first it will be scary. Like a nightmare you can't get out of... But if you don't stop now, you will eventually die, and it won't matter anymore.

TL;DR, Eat more, but don't eat unhealthy. Stop over-exercising, throw out your scale and contact a therapist who specializes in ED. Also stay away from pro-anorexia sites. They just make you worse.

Oh yeah, I forgot the most important part of that post lol. When I mean fix your mental state, I'm saying that you have to start convincing yourself that eating IS NOT A BAD THING. I'm not saying gorge out on 3 different 500cal meals or anything but restricting yourself to 60cal soup and water every day isn't healthy. You'll need to start slow and gradually get your calorie intake up (and keep it balanced with your work-out sessions.) It will freak you out at first but you'll see that with time, you really won't gain that much weight at all and any of it won't be "fat" weight. You just need to slowly and progressively teach your mind not to think the way that it does towards food, and most of all, yourself.
