Alright /fit. I want to talk about something besides "I AM SKINNY AND WANT TO GAIN WEIGHT AND MUSCLES BUT TONED" or "I AM FAT AND WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT BUT GET TONED NO MUSCLES". I want to talk about where those people should be. Feel free to TL;Dr this.

Around December, I decided the army was for me. I'm 24 years old, and I did four years of college in Criminology before realizing that half the reason I wanted to join teh police would be better fulfilled in the army. Unfortunately, I was 5'11 and 120 pounds. I remember at one point a guy at a bar asked me how Auschtwitz was.

I didn't go to /fit/ and ask for help. I went online and read up on things, and decided Calisthenics were what I needed to be doing--as I should set my goal towards what I wanted to do, and you need to do heavy pushups/pullups/running etc in the army. I did a half hearted work out for a couple of months, and then gave up. But then school ended, and I realized I'd been wasting time, and I hated myself. So I gritted my teeth. It was now April.

upon website. The food part was easiest, it was all common sense. Don't count protein and fat and calories, just make healthy choices and eat more meat. If you can't do that all the time, then just make sure you're getting enough carbs and protein to keep yourself going. You've got live life and make smart choices, but don't hate yourself because you ate a cheeseburger. Just don't make a habit of it.

Then I started working out, 20 minutes a day. It was painful. I didn't like it. I wanted to quit and just take a break, but I kept going. Slowly, I was able to do more then 1 set, and the time I spent exercising kept increasing. Soon I was going for an hour a day, 3 sets of all my exercises. My goals were to do more, not to reach 100 or 200 in something, but everytime I could do 3 or 4 more, I was happy. I got into leverage, and harder versions.

And as I did more and more, I started to get those limit breaking sets. Those sets where you get so fatigued and tired, that you're some how able to do 10 more then you thought you were capable of.

I don't have a six pack, I don't have huge biceps or triceps or quads or rock hard abs and pecs. But I see definition where there was none, hardness where it used to be soft, bulges when I flex that were never here before. And why do I not fret about not being huge fast? I realize this is because I've only been going for 3 months, and you can't expect to undo a life of living like shit with a couple months of exercise. I look forward to working out, I look forward to struggling at a new exercise and then realizing most people couldn't even attempt to do it.

I just want to say to all the people who come on here and beg for advice, and then go "That's too hard." and give up. It's you. There's no perfect workout, no fast track to awesome, no 6 week six-pack. There's just going at it, and knowing the results will come when you've earned them. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm happy, I'm sleeping better, and while I'm not proud of my body, I'm not ashamed of it either. I'm learning to love it.

mis/fit/ out.

OH and part of it got cut off, I apologize.

"I purchased Never Gymless and downloaded Naked Warrior, I went through website" is how the second post should of started.

I don't have any before pictures unfortunately, or else I would. If I can wrangle the camera from my roommate, I'll take some current pictures.

sure, you can eat whatever shit you want. have a fucking 1" steak every day for breakfast, lunch, & dinner if you do a strenuous workout all day long. it'll catch up with you when you're 35+ and the doctor says your cholesterol levels are enough to butter bread.

I'm not saying each whatever you want. Far from it. I'm saying eat whole wheats, leans meats, vegetables and so forth. We all know that. I'm saying that if your hanging out with friends and they want to order a pizza, have a couple slices with them. Just don't eat pizza often, and don't feel bad about indulging every once and awhile, especially when it's part of a social gathering where you'd look like a douche for saying no.

Oh, right. And I really, really, really recommend Never Gymless. If you dislike weights or can't afford to go the Gym, the price of this book is worth it's weight in gold. Probably one of the best you can get on the subject--I'm a huge fan of Ross, because he tells it like it is, and is probably one of the most humble guru's out there.

OP here. I know, it's not very impressive at all. I'm still a skinny bitch, but I had absolutely no muscle mass before I started.

you look like a homosexual.

You have none now either.

I dont mean to discourage you but in that amount of time thats not very good progress. I suggest doing more compund exercises and eating more. Just dont even think about doing an isolation exercise untill your much bigger. Stick to squats, deadlifts, pullups, dips, T-bar rows, shit like that.

Oh and EAT MOAR!

Haha. Yeah, I'm not very big at all yet, but half the battle is getting muscle to build on.

I don't have access to a gym nearby unfortunately, and I do eat quite a lot. Not as much as I'd like, but I recently moved and am currently in chucking out resumes like a mother fucking fist of the north star. But I get at least 2500 cals a day.

Thats great because none of the exercises i listed require a gym!

Barbell, dumbell bars, assorted weights and a pull up bar that fixes to a door frame - you can probably buy that for under $200

A squat rack is going to cost a bit extra but you can do squats with dumbells, kind of.

Pull up frame, I have.

Barbells and Dumbbells would be a problem, as well as a squat rack.

I live in a very small basement suite, small bathroom, small kitchen, living room, and two bedrooms. Both are shared with a roommate. I would actually like to add weights to my regime, as then I can mix the more endurance aspects of Calisthenics with the strength of weights. Unfortunately, I don't have the space as of yet..

However, once I have a job, I'll likely be able to get some access to a gym. I'd just feel rather silly there given my current size.

>squatz with dumbbell
You mean a deadlift?

OP here, if you have any suggestions, money isn't a huge problem. I have a skill (Cooking) which allows me to freely find good employment, and I'm only paying 250$ a month for rent, which is why I moved and live in such a tiny place.
>> Mak
Everyone starts small i guess, you shouldnt feel awkward walking into a gym, although im a hypicrit because i work out at home.

>squatz with dumbbell
>You mean a deadlift?

No i dont... i mean doing squats with dumbells if you dont have a barbell or squat rack, you can also use them for lunges. And how the hell do you do a deadlift with dumbells?

Haha. OP here. Honestly, I've seen gains in what I can do It might be purely endurance, but I've seen gains. I don't view it as a waste of time to be able to pull off 40 pushups, even if I haven't gained much mass or strength.

And unlike most fags, I appreciate help.I'm not discouraged in the least, it's not a race. Plus, feeling sorry for yourself has never caused you body to grow muscle, so I don't see the point in it.

I like reading stuff like this :)

Haha, I guess it comes from realizing this is a commitment. Even if you get a six pack in six weeks, you still have to spend the rest of your life maintaining it. As for the bawwing part, I did my share when I was younger, and you realize how much time you wasted on it when you could of just gone "Fuck this" and done something, failed, had a reason to BAW, and then tried again.
