first of all you have to remember something: you can't take someone who has only done light cardio at BEST for the past 30 years and expect them to become powerlifters. that's why your parents aren't hauling in dead animals or powerflitign like some 60 year olds are.
There are programs deisgned for older people and its about time they get looking into some martial arts like tai chi that work out muscles/joints but dont stress them as much.
they should just start light, I.E. pushups, situps, isometrics etc.
