Used to when I lived at my old place that had a community pool. Was great fun and I was in pretty good shape, could hold my breath underwater pretty well. I wish I still had that. Don't use swimming as your only workout source though, I have read a few places that the water's temperature (or something along those lines) can cause the fat on your body to come to the surface, making it more obvious. Mix it up with walking/jogging/cycling/rollerblading and you shouldn't have those problems.
