sup /fit/ still new to the whole workout thing, but today I found something that definitely took the wind out of my sails. running/jogging stairs. It probably sounds stupid running up and down a staircase, but I was bored and it really got my heart pumping. anyone know how good it actually is?

tl;dr: running/jogging stairs: good for your body or make you look like a total fag?

If you just go up and down a staircase to nowhere, well, you're just lame. Get either a stepping machine, or go run around a park that has an incline with stairs.

yeah because running towards nowhere is not silly at all.

Hey, I prefer running outside instead of a treadmill. I looked dorky running around in shorts and a T shirt while it was raining today, but better than a treadmill.

OP: I usually run outside at a park, I just tried stairs for shits&giggles.

I do it. If you're in an apartment building go find the emptiest flight of stairs(usually the one on the top floor) and go up and down 8 stairs. It's really tiring but I find it better than running.

spending money for a stair climber is retarded if you have access to stairs.

Or better yet get an apartment on the very top floor. That way you're forced into exercise and it becomes a constant thing.

you want to get your heart pumping? Run up and down the stairs at a stadium (for instance your local high school), or do suicides (running back and forth from one end of a field to the next say 20 yards.

I live on the top floor of a 10 floor building, and I just run the full 10 until I can't anymore, no idea on how good it is for me but sure beats running outside at night when it's way below zero

We had to do both of these for football, and they're really good cardio. If you don't understand suicides from what he posted, I'll explain. Say you have 50 yards of space to run. run to the ten yard mark, turn around run back to where you started, run to the twenty yard marker, run back to original point, to the thirty, and so on.
