Fatty Anonymous
Hello /fit/ I got a few questions for you. I am a fat guy. I weigh about 360 lbs. I started at 430 lbs. I went to a physical trainer, and a physician, and they both said after taking all my fat measurements, that I should weigh about 270-275 lbs. They both told me when I asked that with no body fat, having a 6 pack, I would weigh about 260. So, I ran out of money to pay for physical trainer, and was wonder. Would a low-carb diet work in the long run for losing that much weight??? I am talking about also doing weight training 3 times a week and cardio 3 times a week. Or would a low calorie diet (which I am doing now) be better? The other question I was wondering, (not sure if anyone would know) Is I have a hanging gut, similar to the one pictured, and was wondering if there was a way, besides cosmetic surgery, to get rid of that after i lose the weight.

They're both dipfucks.

No. Not when you were 430 pounds. The skin is way too loose at this point.

Well, I have alot of muscle on me, and a very big frame.
I played football, and was benching doing 5x10 sets of 225. I don't know my natural weight, but in highschoool football, i weighed about 240 and was maybe about 10 pounds overweight.

I don't care. You said you were 430 pounds. You were medically qualified as morbidly obese and probably still are at 360 pounds. Unless you're fucking nine feet tall, this is not normal.

Yeah, even a guy with a moderate beer belly is still gonna have floppy fucking skin if they lose it, you're going to need to have somebody stitch that shit together if you don't want it to fall out of your shirt and look like you're melting.

I mean, a little loose is good (Woo wind instrument expando-belly), but that much is gonna be a little hard for your body to handle.

yeah, I thought so too. Thanks. Also, which does /fit/ think: low calorie + exercise or low carb +exercise for losing about 100lbs is best???

Depends on a genetics and a few other factors, but most "loose skin" is caused by extremely weakened ab muscles. When they do those tummy tuck surgeries, they do remove a little skin, but the majority of the surgery is liposuction (fat you could have lost the right way) and manual muscle tightening via sutures (could have achieved this with dedicated ab workouts every day).

After watching a tummy tuck video on YouTube, it kind of made me realize the skin itself is not really the issue, because the reason the patient looked so good after the surgery was due to the large amount of liposuction and ab tightening. The scary thing is, they leave the sutures on your ab muscles forever, so if they come loose you might be highly fucked.

Low carb works only in the short run. People yo-yo with their weight in this type of diet in the long run.

It's not diet, it's lifestyle. Low calorie, high activity life style. Also, you will have excess skin, but less if you lose your weight slowly.

OP here, this is in general, what im having right now, followed with dinner or maybe some grilled or baked chicken or fish, and brown rice.

the bread ham and cheese was a sandwich i had for lunch. I wouldn't normally have the spaghetti, but i had a very small portion with lunch with boss/ coworkers. The fruits are together as a fruit salad.

its a website called www.fitday.com
where you can enter in your weight and keep track of what you eat, along with a bunch of other things. you just have to manage the portions and sort of add things together, for instance, there is no selection for sandwich, you have to select 2 pieces of bread, the meat, and the cheese separately. I think it is a pretty good way oof keeping track of everything though.

Uh- you don't "lose" fat. The cells never get shed, and depending on your metabolism, that's as good as permanent.

way too much. try 600 calories a day

OP here, that is actually what i did to lose my about 75 pounds, but it was on a liquid fast. Kinda a horrible thing, I lost TONS of muscle mass, and i felt like i was about to faint at least once a day. Now to maintain my weight, I was told to eat 3800 calories a day. So I figured having around 1500 a day would work to lose weight.

That's not enough.

Yes. This.

Also, the fat cells never decrease in number when you lose weight, they can only decrease in size.

PS there is no such thing as being able to have no body fat. Don't your doctors realize that you are going to be losing muscle and bone density along with fat? 275 is NOT a healthy weight, and you may have to go in for surgery eventually. Lose the weight, get some health insurance, then after having the insurance for a while make a deal with them about having tucks. They will most likely pay for it since it means you will be around longer for you to pay them for the insurance in the first place.

The closely guarded secret to losing weight:

1) Don't stop eating, just eat normal meals and cut all the shit fast food/candy/etc. out of your diet. Give yourself one "cheat meal" per week. If you find yourself getting really hungry, eat fruit or vegetables until you're not hungry anymore.

2) Do 40 minutes of whatever cardio you can do per day. Walk/bike/swim if you're too heavy to jog. Just make sure you do 40 minutes of it.

3) Record your progress. Seeing your progress on a spreadsheet is a great motivator, and you are far less likely to fall off the wagon if you're keeping records.

That's it. Really.

People can go on and on about doing HIIT, or SQUATZ, or whatever, but you don't really need to do any of that to get good results. If doing what I listed doesn't help you, you need to see a doctor and check if the problem isn't medical.

Less portions at meals if you're intaking too much (different between starvation, this is something you have to make a life habit out of) and aerobic exercise burns fat to keep you pumping, so like 20-30 minute run every day should work.
