Hi /fit/ I just recently found out my mother might have pancreatic cancer i am getting ready to look up some stuff but i would like to hear if /fit/ would know of any common cancers of the pancreas and their treat ability. Also if she would be undergoing chemo or radiation whichever one what kind of chemo's would they use? (Waiting for the doctors reply but don't want to wait.)

pancreatic cancer is pretty much the most killer cancer. sorry.

This is the cancer killing /yourmum/.

Um. Just buy a gun and tell your mother to an hero. It'll be less painful that way.

this, there almost never a chance for surgery and chemo is iffy too.

i think the average 2 year survival rate is less than 5%

the prognosis for pancreatic cancer is very bad

There's only 2 types, and 90+% are adenocarcinomas (originate in glands of some sort).

The vast majority of cases are caught too late because the symptoms don't present themselves early enough, so the prognosis is very poor, but if they caught it early, there's a good chance they can remove the head of the pancreas with little or no complications. Otherwise they will probably try chemo, but it doesn't have a very good success rate.

Also, for your sake, you absolutely CANNOT smoke cigarettes. Heredity plays a huge part in all cancers, and pancreatic especially, and smoking is the cause of a quarter of them.

Also, get a second opinion. My mom had acute pancreatitis and it sometimes presents the same symptoms.

Good luck anon.

If you aren't a troll, sorry dude. Pretty much no treatment for that. I saw a 33-y.o. go from diagnosis to grave in about 4 months.
