Hey /fit/, I've got a quick question...I've lately been starting out a small diet (just eating less calories, very small weight lifting and situps/pushups and a small bit of walking). I've stopped drinking sodas and everything entirely, and switched to water. Recently however I switched to drinking tea instead. I'm drinking about 5-6 cups a day, usually greentea.

My question is; Can drinking too much tea be bad for me? Does it matter if it's caffeinated or not? I drink black, green, herbal. All sorts of tea, (generally green) should I mix it up more often? Thank you for the help!

Caffeine in small quantities improves cardiovascular functioning and can aid your workouts. Too much and you can stress your heart. Other than that, tea is a great beverage.

Great, I'm currently addicted to it. I like it without sugar/honey just fine, but I like it a little more with a little. Since I haven't really looked into this at all, would a cube or two of sugar (ontop of what else I randomly eat) or a bit of honey hurt at all? OR should I just stay more healthy and drink it straight?

Yeah don't put cubes of sugar in it, and honey is still sugar just more natural so ditch them both.

Try green or oolong tea. They don't take sugar.

Fuck my sweet tooth, and non-existant will power to stop eating it. I guess these "100 calorie" packs that I eat instead of ice cream and the horrible shit are a little better. I guess I'm not going to lose any weight though if I don't learn to stop being so fat.

I still like sugar in green tea. But like I said it isn't too much of an urge. So I'll be able to overcome this easily. It's just a matter of me being able to stop eating sweet entirely. I'm 6'0/6'1"ish and 180, no muscle and just a small gut. I want it gone in about 2 months ):

Oh, and I understand that 2 months would be a little hard, it's however still my goal.

I think sugar with green and white tea tastes like shit.

That's because you're right.

The only two things in tea that could be bad for you in large quantities are the caffeine and fluoride. White tea had the least of both of these out of all the different types of teas. Generally though, 5-6 cups a day of any kind of tea isn't anything to worry about. Black tea has about 40mg of caffeine per cup, so if you drank 6 in a day that's 240mg. A pretty decent amount, but spread over the entire day it's fine.

Correct. Don't ever sweeten green tea.

I drink my green tea with sugar and a lemon wedge. How does that make you feel?
