Dear /fit/,
You’ve guys helped me before, and I’m coming back from more. I’m on week 5 of p90x (more-or-less a weight/cardio switching routine), and I decided to go to the next level and start using creatine/whey protein to help build muscle and drop fat. Here’s what I’m drinking after a workout; what could I be doing better, if anything?

Here’s what I’m throwing into it:

1 container of low-fat yogurt (various fruits)
1 ½ cup 1% milk
1 cup OJ
3 tbsp of whey concentrate (27g protein)
1 tsp of Creatine Monohydrate

Here is the nutritional breakdown

Calories – Fat – Carbs - Protein
Yogurt: 170 - 1.5 g – 33 g – 5 g

Alrighty, this sounds pretty ok, if we're talking about gaining mass. Forget about it for dropping fat though.

don't try to loss body fat and gain muscle. adjust your diet to lose the fat then after the fat is off adjust your diet to gain muscle.

OP here,
i'm using this as an immediate post-workout drink, in part because of the high protein/low fat content; i'm debating on dropping the yogurt as soon as bananas come in season. What is wrong/counter-intuitive about the idea of weight/resistance training to build muscle, and cardio to lose fat? I'm working out at least an hour each day.

You won't gain much muscle if you are trying to lose weight, as you need to eat a lot to gain mass. If you are just going for strength, thats another story.

OP;

I didn't say anything about losing weight (though thats happening anyway); doesn't building muscle cause your metabolism to rise, causing a decrease in bodyfat as a side effect? Its not like i'm at 0% bodyfat.
