300 workout Anonymous
* 25 pull-ups
* 50 deadlifts at 135 pounds
* 50 push-ups
* 50 box jumps with a 24-inch box
* 50 "floor wipers" (a core and shoulders exercise at 135 pounds)
* 50 "clean and press" at 36 pounds (a weight-lifting exercise)
* 25 more pull-ups -- for a total of 300 reps
Has anyone tried this? What are the pros/cons of it?

I realize if I started this I probably wouldn't end up looking like a SPARTAN but probably some good results.

nothing special. takes <20 minutes, reeks of Crossfit. infamous cause i'll never forget how many dbag kids started doing floor wipers thinking they'd look like the 300...

OP here, Yeah I was just reading that people will never get results like that. Is it still a decent workout regimen if you combine it with more exercises?

I lol'd at 50 deadlifts @ 135, and 50 clean and press at fucking THIRTY SIX POUNDS

are you fucking kidding me?

This wasn't a workout, this was their final "test" to see how their training had worked. Some didnt manage it.

It's not a full workout plan. the 300 workout was a challenge workout they did for time once during their training for the movie. They only did it once or twice as a test and was not the basis of any of their gains. Which is why it does not work as a stand alone plan.

well, i approve of this as cardio. far more useful (as its anaerobic/HIITish) than 'steady state' i'm going for a jog shit

Well, you can't say it didn't work for the 300 actors. Granted, they worked out multiple times a day, basically compressing over a year or two of training into a few months, but there are guys who've done CrossFit for 1-2 years who have similar results. (Minus the lighting, make-up, special effects, etc.)

was easy enough,got my heart going good and the last few pull-ups were tough.Sounds like a new wake-up routine to me

Gerry butler got that body in 4 months, he was juicing and working with a bodybuilder and it's still an amazing feat. He wasn't in shape to begin with. The workouts must have been so brutal.

Fail. He was at Gym Jones and none of them are body builders.

Ok, I'm just going to ignore the rest of the madness (no pun intended) preceding my post, and reply as best I can to OP's original question.

Saw the article in Men's Health way back when, got curious, decided to throw this into my workout 3 days a week. Best thing I can say, is it's fucking brutal. Yeah, it may not seem like the most weight. Yeah, they may not seem like the hardest exercises. But when you do them as fast as possible, without resting, it's mind-blowing. I wouldn't say it turned me into the ZOMG SPARTAN BADASS like you hear so many fairies rambling on about - but it's a good fucking workout. Full-body, high intensity, high-rep. Have my time down to 17:16...read in the article the fastest time among the cast was 18:something. Don't really care, though. I just do it because it's a change of pace, makes you want to kill yourself, and scares a lot of people at the gym as you stagger from exercise to exercise. This was one facet of the workout regime (NOT the only facet, like some people think) the cast went through in the six weeks leading up to the filming.

tl;dr - it's actually a pretty good workout, the faggots BAWWING about crossfit are just bitter fat-asses who can't do a pushup. Just don't expect to be all SPARTAN badass.

My suitemate at college does the 300, but he does it differently... he changes it to suit his needs-- either for anaerobic or for cardio that day, or he just does X amount of deadlifts and power moves.

no u, he hired mark twight (mountain climber, designed the 300 workout) as his trainer and five weeks before shooting hired Franco licastro (bodybuilder) to help exaggerate his psysique.
