Hey /fit/. I'm an avid swimmer and the season has got me in the best shape I've ever been in. My team does basic ab training and core work, nothing too extensive. the issue i'm having is that i have a well-defined six pack, but only when i don't eat. It's really hard to explain, but whenever i eat i fill myself up (i eat like man should). This causes my stomach to fill the fuck up and my abs, instead of being defined, just jut out and make me look like a fatass. Of course a great amount of the food is burned off in workout, which explains why I'm not fat. But do I have to starve myself just to maintain my figure throughout the day? Why is it that my friends can fill themselves up and still keep a flat, clean slate on their abs?

I have the same "problem", if you wanna call it that. I think that's just how our bodies work - if I eat a lot, my stomach gets big, but the next morning, it'll be back to normal. It's probably because I'm an ectomorph, I'm assuming you are too?

eat more often, and have smaller meals.instead of having three huge meals throughout the day have six meals have that size and you'll still be getting enough nutrition and wont have to worry about being bloated

no, i'd consider myself a mesomorph. maybe i'm a combination of characteristics?

Or maybe somatotype terminology was invented as part of a failure of a psychology experiment in the 40s, and there is no such thing as a meso/endo/ectomorph?

OP, you are a failure of a faggot vain motherfucker. You care about "maintaining you figure?" Fuck, say that out loud a couple of times. Chances are your anterior trunk musculature isn't developed well enough to be visible once you've gorged yourself on the flesh of your fallen enemies (like a man should). I recommend a combination of overhead pressing (because you're a swimmer and shoulder strength is very useful for swimming) and weighted roman chair sit-ups in the 5 rep range (because your current ab work probably consists of endless reps of sit ups on a swiss ball or something stupid).

You should be eating quite a lot if you're serious about swimming. I don't understand how you would be able to swim often and not eat!

Do more of your teams core workout at home. Add weighted situps/crunches to it also.

I'm a swimmer too, we do 2 times circular training, 2 times plyometrics, 2 times weightlifting a week + 8 times swimming. My abs are stiff 24/7
