The only thing you really need to begin is a pair of running shoes, because not using proper shoes tends to fuck knees and ankles up in the long run - especially if you run on hard concrete and sport some extra meat around your bones.
Stamina is the first thing you want to build. Don't run too fast in the beginning. Some say that one indicator of running too fast is that you get so winded you can't talk while running. Really, take it slow at first and walk when you have to. If you run 5km 5 times a week, you'll start to notice improvement quite soon. Give it, say, two weeks and try to make it a habit. And don't push too hard. You want to enjoy it and if you give yourself enough time to do it right, you will.
tl;dr: Get running shoes and just go out and run. And learn to google.
