Hey /fit/
I read a lot of threads on here that deal with diet and weight lifting.
Is the diet necessary to build muscle?
I'm an averaged size guy, I eat a lot and don't get fat.
But would dieting be important if I wanted to gain muscle?
Pic not really related. Just my PH cosplyu.

I can eat a lot and not gain weight, more then what my 350lbs friend eats so basically you logic sucks dick kthxbai

uhh, you're phrasing it oddly.

proper nutrition is absolutely essential to building muscle. If you're not getting a caloric surplus, you will not grow.

op: As in I eat a wide variety of foods in large portions.

You have 350lbs friends? WTF? I've never personally met anyone that heavy.

Also, they probably drink soda like water or something so in the end of the day they do get more calories.

you retard, listen to what i say in cosplay.com threads. diet is almost everything. clearly you haven't read enough threads... just go to bodybuilding.com and read articles. do you really think dumb nerds on 4chan are going to be able to give you the best advice?

Genetics plays a pretty large role in ability to maintain and gain muscle. Personally, I don't do crap to build muscle (female vegetarian who does no strength training) yet I have a pretty large amount a muscle just because of genetics. I wouldn't have to change my diet at all if I wanted to gain...probably just start lifting.

Well over 50% of my gains were made in the kitchen, not the gym.

It is the most important aspect.
