Mult - Vitiamins etc What do you use brand/etc Basement Dwelling Troll !MFbxgC5u3.
Sup /fit/.

I myself am a GNCfag and use the MEGAMEN. I also down a Fish Oil from Nature Made. Btw I hear if you don't leik the aftertaste of fish oil, you can freeze them and then take it. Me personally never really noticed a aftertaste.

I do Juice Plus+ myself. Just mainly fruits and vegetables that have all the water and sugar taken out leaving the vitamins. Don't really need too much else, the rest of the diet is pretty balanced.
>> Basement Dwelling Troll !MFbxgC5u3.
Surprised /fit/ doesn't have more. Well wat about supplements.

I are serious athlete. I are chew Flintstone's vitamins. Srsly.

Actually, I do take the Flinstone's vitamins because the "adult" multi-vitamins make me feel like shit.
>> Yoshi ?
You don't need a multi vitamin, just eat a balanced diet.
>> Guil

I disagree, and so do a lot of people. Eating a "balanced" diet is great and all, but theres nothing wrong with making sure you have all your bases covered unless multivitamins make you sick (and for some people they do)

college fag here, there is no such thing as a healthy diet with the foods offered at a major university. I take the MegaMen multi vitamin and absolutely hate the smell/taste/aftertaste of it. It nearly gags me when I open the bottle. Anything I can do to make this a more 'enjoyable' experience?

Aren't you supposed to be a tripfag now?
>> Guil
>>17216
I take the same ones. I do not take two at a time though, one in the morning one at night is probably better for you. (I'm only saying this because I think the direction say two with a meal)

Now for taste what I do is get the water/drink in my mouth first and put my head back and put it in then swallow and drink immediately. It's odd to describe but if you sort of don't THINK about tasting it and don't expect a gross taste you can avoid it entirely. The smell is something I hate but have gotten used to and isn't really avoidable. Just don't hold the bottle close to you.

balanced is damned good goal to strive for, but how in the hell can you be sure all those damn micronutrients are properly consumed? have you ever done a detailed food diary for just 3 days? sweet zombie jesus, there's like 40 different shits to worry about.
>> Yoshi ?
>>17198
The word is "need" In all actuality you really don't "need" multi vitamin so long as you eat a balanced diet. Read a book, talk to any nutritionist, or doctor. Of course it wont hurt much to take them, but they aren't going to do any thing special for you if you have extra. Some vitamins and minerals are actually damaging in high doses. So if you don't really need it then don't buy it.
For example to much vitamin A can lead to liver abnormalities, and nervous system disorders.
Eating or drinking too much zinc in a short period of time can lead to adverse health effects, such as stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.
Eating large amounts of zinc for longer periods may cause anemia, nervous system disorders, damage to the pancreas and lowered levels of “good” cholesterol.

Good points. My diet is shit atm. Trying to correct it. But all in all I still think taking a mult vitiamin isnt going to kill me as much as a shitty diet bad habits and being a general fucking fatass is.

I'm not worried about overdosing on too much of anything considering the makers of daily multivitamins would get their ass sued off if following the directions led to issues like that.

I'm well aware that a balanced diet is good enough, but the reality is most people can't eat a balanced diet whether its laziness, unable to eat certain foods due to allergies and such, unable to eat foods because you can't stomach them, dislike the taste of foods... etc. etc. etc.

Like some people hate fish, or hate beef, or are vegan and eat like morons or like most people are just average and uninformed and eat fast food and think slathering a salad in ranch dressing is still really healthy.

tl;dr if balanced diets were easy to maintain then multivitamins wouldn't be such a large business, I still see your points but it's damn near unreasonable to expect such dedication to diet from everyone when nutrition is neglected by society as a whole

tl;dr on the tl;dr: people suck, multivitamins help correct this a bit.

Most multivitamin makes do kind of tell you pretty directly to mind the vitamin and mineral contents of your food. The daily value recommendations at even 150% are well below the fatal doses of the things involved, but if you eat enough of whatever, you could reach the point of sickness. Remember always that the dose makes the poison.

There are a few vitamins you have to watch out for grossly exceeding the RDA, such as Vitamin A, but supplements usually have reduced amounts of these, usually quite a bit below the RDA
>> Guil
>>17962

You're a fucking idiot, exceeding Vitamin A recommended dosage has practically no side effects
>> Anonymous
>>17970You're a fucking idiot
NO U
Overdosing on Vitamin A can lead to a whole host of problems, even in EXTREME cases fatality
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
>>17970

If you eat enough of it you can lyse your intestinal cells and have internal hemorrhaging.

That's after eating like, pounds and pounds of pure vitamin though.
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
>>17975

If you're talking about just general nausea it takes like half a vitamin bottle to do it.
>> Anonymous
>>17978
The problem is its fat soluble so you can build up a large amount of it by only taking 2-3x the amount you actually need.
>> Anonymous
>>17970
Sure you can get some side effects. My brother turned a shade of orange after pigging on a few pounds of carrots. LULZ!

It went away, but man, did I ever laughed. Idiot.
>> Anonymous
>>17990
Thats due to the carotene (lol) in carrots, not vitamin a

In fact increase of chance of osteoporosis has been linked with chronic overdose of vitamin a with as little as 2x over a period of a year or two
