Hey mis/fit/s, I need your help. I wanna get rid of my belly fat, so I started walking, and jogging. My question is, is it good to alternate between jogging & walking for my legs to get used to it? Or should I jog and forget about walking? Keep in mind, my lungs are weak 'cause when I was younger I had asthma, and was on the hospital a lot.

Also, any advice you guys can give me is appreciated.

Also, I'm around 5'6-5'7", around 210-230 lbs. Maybe even more.

Walking is great, it just takes FOREVER as you may know. Jogging pushes your body and gives you the overload your body needs to adapt. Just do what pushes you but is still comfortable, then run longer and/or faster and keep pushing yourself.

I was thinking of walking/jogging everyday for 60 minutes. Should I do anything else to help me lose weight? I mean, what should I do for the rest of the day?

You need days off, dont do it EVERY day.

Diet is a key part to losing weight, but also building muscle. Developed muscle has been proven to burn more calories AT REST than typical untrained muscle during periods of stress. Therefore, work in a strength training routine and you will notice larger weight loss than if you just jogged/ate right.

Further more, the key to cardio isn't WHAT activity, its how long you do it and at what heart rate. You want to stay around 160 bpm to really start burning calories and training your heart.

Bottom line, walk/jog/whatever, but its all about prolonged periods of "out of breath"

Not true, cardio can be done everyday safely. it is weight training that must be staggered to allow your muscles to recover. Smooth muscle like your heart heals so quickly you do not need to allow heal time.

So, even when I feel the need for a rest or air, I should push myself a bit harder? Sounds reasonable. Any advice on cooling down, etc? I've heard that if you excercise and then suddenly stop, you wasted your workout. Is it just a myth?

It's a myth. Cooldown is just to ease your body from being active to sedentary. Just like you should warm up and not take off running as fast as you can when you jog, you shouldn't stop from running and then just sit down.

it's those moments your "out of breath", THEN, THAT YOU NEED TO PUSH. THAT'S when you benefit. That's when it's most important to push more.

Whenever you walk/jog, its always a good idea to change up your pace. Speed walk for 5 minutes, jog for 5, sprint for 2 and cycle through it. In this way your body wont get used to the type of work out you're giving it and you'll time spent will have been more beneficial than the guy who just keeps the same pace the whole time.
