Hi /fit/ looking for some advice here. I'm 18 - 5'11 - 180pounds. I don't look fat as my limbs are quite sized alright but the bulk of my weight is in my gut. Im thinking about changing my life style a little and I feel really motivated about it.

I think im going to take up running - can anyone give me advice as to what kind of routines to take up - do I exert all my energy at once? or go slow and further. Im really new to any exercise or routine at all and I have no where to begin.

Food is another issue of mine - I drink alot of soft drinks and eat fast food almost every other day. I must have a fast metabolism or something because I hardly do any work. What kind of food should I be eating to keep me through the day? Im not going to be changeing it all at once but what are somethings I can do to help combat my unhealthy eating.

Lastly I suffer from constant tiredness - Im assuming the running and proper eating is going to help, can anyone suggest other things to do to keep myself more awake durring the day? healthy things obviously.

Thanks alot /fit/ - im feeling really motivated and I think your suggestions are just going to make me more motivated.

Why not cut all that shit out of your diet all together? Are you so addicted to your refined sugar that you couldn't bear to let it go for awhile? Step back and look at how clingy you're being (to food nonetheless) and I hope you get a 'WTF, I'm a pussy' moment.

This is the best advice you'll get out of /fit/.

I guess my real reason is I just like sugar and carbonation (for the softdrinks that is) - but other than that the fast food is just because im a lazy college student who doesnt have time to cook. I guess if I knew what to buy and buy stuff that was easy to make / take with me, that would help.

why not inhale carbon dioxide and sugar packets. Why not chew rice and protein pills. Why have chefs at all?

If you can prepare fruits and water to taste like soda then i'll drink it.

protip fruits taste much better than soda
you've literally screwed your taste buds up by drinking so much soda that they think something that bad for you is actually better

and really cold water is so much more yummy than soda

i dunno, to be /fit/? I mean, that IS why you came to /fit/, right?

>If you can prepare fruits . . . to taste like soda then i'll drink it.

my problem with your post isn't the healthy substitution. No one likes soda because they like the sugar and the carbonation. They like the combination of it. The way it was prepared and served. One soda drink a day isn't going to do anything. Exercising is a better method than cutting out your favorite food. You expend the excess calories and your body gets stronger, you feel better. Changing your diet is for the obese.

OK fine
1) fruit in blender
2) mineral water in blender
3) blend
4) tastier than soda but also a blend of the two

stop eating fast food, stop drinking soft drinks, see the light.

About the soda thing...I love ice cream. But I realize if I don't want to be fat, I cannot eat ice cream whenever I want. You have to learn to make sacrifices. You can drink soda all you want, but that ain't going to help your problem.

Switch to diet if you must drink soda. After a while, you will get so used to diet that the regular stuff will taste like shit.

"Switch to diet if you must drink soda. After a while, you will get so used to diet that the regular stuff will taste like shit."

YES. It's so obvious & easy. Diet Coke is the worst of all diet drinks (IMO, bitter) but Coke Zero and Diet Pepsi and Diet Rite are fine colas. Diet 7-Up & Sprite are also good.
The regular stuff tastes way too sweet after you get a taste for the diet drinks.
