just recently, i gave up soda. I learned to drink skim milk and water for meals, but i am a guy that like variety. i do not like the same stuff over and over.

so here my question: what would /fit/ suggest a college person do at College's eateries? (other than water and skim milk)
-Vitamin Water = bad?
-V-8 fusion = have to eat protein with and high in sugar
-Orange juice - is ascorbic acid bad?
-High-fructose corn syrup - a must to avoid

The only thing that you should ever drink is water, and the occasional glass of milk. Anything else is just empty calories and sugar.

Learn to love it

drink water. Only water.

Milk is for babies. Cow milk is for cows.

I don't know, I drink root beer at times lol.

Other than milk and water primarily, though, I don't drink much else.

Water, and only water. Gatorade if you're doing more than an hour of cardio at a moderate to high pace. Milk occasionally if you're weight training. Juice if you make it yourself with a blender and a bag of fruit. Store-bought juice is either a.) Artificial and pumped full of crap or B.) Natural and ridiculously overpriced. A tea is fien too.

I don't think skim milk is actually all that great for you. It's no soda, but still I don't think it's so great.

Lactose doesn't seem to have a huge effect on insulin levels and the vitamin and protein content keep it from being empty calories.

I'd restrict intake unless you were in dire need of mass.

for every cup or bottle of tea you drink, try to drink a cup/bottle of water. green tea is great for you, but it can dehydrate you very easily

plain tea and water. Get real spring water like Poland Spring. It tastes FAR better then purified tap-crap.

I've recently substituted coffee with vitamin water. Hope I'm doing the right thing. I'm going to stay away from caffeine for a while.

coffee isnt that bad for you, if you drink it black. it boosts the metabolism, and doesnt have nearly as many calories as vitamin water.

Caffeine is actually used as a performance enhancer for workouts greater than 40-50 minutes, provided its not max effort work. If you're doing high intensity try and stay away from caffeine around your workout times.

I'm going to disagree. I think people love their caffeine so much they'll try to justify taking it. Anybody wondering or interested should Google "caffeine" and make their own decisions. There seems to be some disagreement, at the very least.

I don't take much caffeine, and I don't need or want it.
