Are bicep curls necessary?

I never do them so I am wondering if I am missing out. I do all the other lifts like presses, chinups, squats, deadlifts, rows and some bench press. Will my biceps be sufficiently worked out by those lifts or will I need to specially focus on biceps on one of the workouts. thanks.

If you have energy to do them and it doesn't fuck your recovery, go ahead.

Doing assistance exercises for pull ups put more mass on my biceps than curls ever did, FWIW.

just do 3-4 sets at the end of your routine.

i like to do 3x8 preacher curls and 3x8 hammer curls.

Curlz for da gurlz.

You don't need them at all, they work one muscle, that you can get in plenty of other exercises.

So? Doing things "for the girls" is probably the larger part of everyone's motive here. Even the women here (if they existed) are probably dykes looking to score chicks.

Like it or not its the only muscle people notice besides pecs.

You are only fooling yourself

That's not the point. You can work biceps more than enough without doing curls, and as a "bonus" you work other muscles as well.

Chin-ups and rows are sufficient. Hell you can even do different kinds of rows, just forget the curls

Don't make stupid assumptions. I train so I can win races in the summer.

wtf dude you must be a woman, cause biceps is the best part to work out you get the pump and it feels like cumming.

A good set of back exercises will do more for your biceps than anything else.

you are a dumbass, if you only have biceps and pecs it won't look like you have muscle unless you have a back and some triceps

Some people do okay with just pulls and rows.

My biceps never moved until I started doing isolation work on them.

Heavy partial rep preacher curls with the ez curl bar work the best for me. If you don't have someone to hand you the bar, you need to flex your arms to 40 degrees or so then grab the bar and lever yourself onto the seat. Trying to contract from a full stretch with heavy weight is asking for injury.

Also doing standing barbell curls is a completely ineffective way to work out your biceps so dont' even bother.
