How many of you take protein supplements?

According to fit day I only get like 25% protein a day. I read that I should be shooting for 40%, and I'm not sure how I can get there without it.

1 scoop a day in milk

at least 1x body weight a day. Shoot for 1.5x.

I take 1 scoop in oatmeal in the morning, 1 scoop in shake 30 mins before workout, and 1 scoop 30 mins after workout. or just eat a shitload of meats.

Where the fuck is the source for this...and I mean a legitimate scientific study, not some faggot body builder. I've heard so much shit...1x body weight, 1.5x body weight, 80% body weight, a 2000 calorie diet says 50 grams of protein (meaning my 3,000 calorie diet would be about 67 grams of protein...not even half my body weight)...Where's the proof and for what purpose should I be eating more protein?...I only find more protein makes me fart nasty farts.

This is in KGs, which are half a pound. So if you're 200lbs, you're 100kg and you need at least 100g of protein per day.

shut up

just find out how many calories you should be eating daily (BMR)

40% of that should be from protein.

problem fucking solved

It's a rule of thumb, not a scientific law.

from USDA: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/dga/rda.pdf
check out page 6

this is the "recommended" value for an "average" person. However you want to interpret "average" is up to you.

I personally just take only one scoop after working out. That's 3 scoops a week.

1 Kgs = .5 lb? so if I weigh 80 Kgs, it means I weigh 40 lbs? Thanks for explaining that so well.

Oh I'm not OP. I don't take protein supplements...I just try to eat enough to get around 100 grams of protein...which is around 2/3 of my body weight...so in between the 1x shit and the 2000 calorie shit.

So then how do you know it works? What if you're just wasting calories or eating too much or gaining excess weight because the protein isn't digested as protein? Like I said, too much protein just causes me to fart and it smells like shit...

the point of whey protein isn't really to "supplement" your RDA protein needs. It's quick absorption and easy to prepare. I'm sure you can easily fulfill your needs with regular food. No one takes whey because they can't get it elsewhere, but a couple of gulps for 20g of protein is pretty convenient.
