how long should you do hiit for it to be the most effective? 10 minutes? 20 minutes? does it matter?
>> Anonymous
do it until you die!

no seriously, you will know when you need to stop. you feel like you're about to die. if that ends up being more than 20 minutes you're doing it wrong.

The top 1 percentile of fit people in the world will fail after about 8 minutes of tabata. So, knowing this, since you're a /fit/ fatty, you should aim for 30 seconds.

Also, you'll do it wrong, so next week come back here and tell us how you did it for 30 minutes twice per day.

5 min warm up

4 min hiit with 20sec sprint and 10 sec jog. 4 min is what a normal fit person should be able to pull out. Also 20 min is a lot.

And 5 min cooldown.

lol i sure will

well i usually try to do the intensity part for like 2 or 3 minutes, every thirty seconds slowing down and then speeding up, and then after that i walk for maybe 4 minutes and do it again until 30 minutes is up.

but you're probably right, i'm most likely doing it wrong.

Imagine you are being chased by a fucking bear. You sprint your ass off at as far as your body can handle, if not even further. Thats what you should be doing when sprinting. Now raise your hands and tell me you are doing that for 10 or (lol) 20 minutes.

The funny thing is, this is actually really good advice.

HIIT: Imagine you are being chased by a fucking bear.
