Sup /fit/

Today I was prescribed Celexa for anxiety. Fixing up my nasty anxiety issues would be good, but I'm worried about the side effects. I started taking Adderall XR 5-6 months ago and I shed weight quicker than taco shits. I went from 5'7" 165 to 5'9 130 (a bit underweight, but I look good) in that time. The drug was the big catalyst, but a large part of it was the extremely intense hockey schedule I had over the summer (4+ hours/day, everyday).

This brings me to my question. Will taking the Celexa make me gain back any weight? Keep in mind I'm still on the Adderall XR (60-90mg/day depending on whether or not I've got a late game), and I'm still getting 15-20 or more hours of intense physical activity per week. It seems trivial and stupid, I know, but I really want to avoid looking like I did before I started the Adderall. The way I look has been one of the few sources of confidence I have, and I'd hate to lose that source more than anything.

Any of you guys with experience in this kind of thing, feel free to share your wisdom.

>Will taking the Celexa make me gain back any weight

believe it or not, only YOU have the ability to gain weight.

its your CONSCIOUS CHOICE to put food into your mouth and to be active.

but by the fact that you even take pills implies your are not a person who views himself responsible for your own life, as all these pills are simply quick fixes that only treat the side effects of your problem, not the issue itself

its like trying to stop the smoke, not the fire

There is some essential fattyacids (DHA, EPA) what the body needs and cant reproduce. Those help to control the stress hormone cortisol if I remember correctly.
Hit fishoil "stress hormone levels" on scroogle or open wikipedia's omega-3 page for more info..

Always look for side-effects before considering the magic pill. Afterall doctors are human and humans have a bad habit of making mistakes.

Quick fix? It's not like I got nervous one day and decided I needed anti-anxiety medication. Nor did I suddenly get bored while doing homework and decide that I have ADD. I've been dealing with this shit for my entire life. I tried everything else; cognitive behaviour therapy, natural remedies, shrinks, you name it. I hate the idea of having to take a fucking drug cocktail in the morning just to get through the day like a normal person, I feel weak. But the fact is, I hate the idea of failing school, getting cut from my hockey team, having to cope with my extreme anxiety, and living the with the depression created from the sum there of a WHOLE lot more.

And by the way, weight loss/gain can happen as side effects of certain medications regardless of how much/little you eat and exercise. In those cases, choice doesn't have a fucking thing to do with it.

The reason your losing weight is the Adderall which is an amphetamine, and can be issued for weight loss reasons and well as narcolepsy.

I take adderall myself, and I dropped from 187 to about 150.
You may not feel hungry, but force yourself to eat every 3 hours or so, so you don't get all cracked out skinny.

so let me get this straight. the pill overrides your free will and makes you a mindless zombie.

in this mindless zombie state, the medicine MAKES you gain/lose weight, you have no choice in the matter.

i'll put it this way. when on the pills, if you can kill someone as be considered culpable, then you certainly considered responsible enough for what you put in your mouth.

TLDR: meds are not an excuse, genetics are not an excuse, skin color is not an excuse, race is not an excuse, etc.

man up
