For the chronically underweight such as myself, what is a good guide or resource you've found regarding the sort of diet that needs to be kept. I'm starting from scratch here, and looking for a clear regimen or a nutrition guide to help understand what is needed to bulk up.

There is no clear regime. There is only hard work, research, and not asking questions from /fit/. Because here, cardio will make you fat, weights will make you able to run marathons, niggers are worshiped for their muscles, and nobody here actually works out.

This is going to sound overly simplistic, but many chronically underweight people have medically correctable conditions. You could have an enzyme deficiency, etc. Please, please, please go see your doc for a referral to a nutritionist.

OP that is great advice actually. When I was younger and really low in weight my doctor made it apparent to me that I was too skinny. He sent me to see a nutritionist. I made a food log, and made an effort to gain weight over a few weeks. I gained weight and she told me that I was A-OK, and that if I just keep trying to gain weight and eating like I already did I would have success. I could have had a medical problem that caused my low weight and that cleared things up for me.

Is correct. /fit/ isn't going to give you any good information. I've been reading about weight gain for a while now and nothing /fit/ has ever said has been quality advice for gaining weight. This will take you a long time. It won't be fast. And you shouldn't try to change too many things about your eating habits at once. It takes TIME and commitment. You should read about nutritionally healthy calorie dense foods. Start reading nutrition labels. Read read read about nutrition in general. Do some kind of strength training exercises, no you don't have to lift weights, but that would help a lot. Muscle weighs more than fat. It took a very long time for me to increase my appetite (a lot of uncomfortable meals shoveling food into my mouth) but it was worth the frustrating effort. You CAN change your appetite if you just consistently work at it. PLANNING helps a lot. Think through what your meal is going to be, and weigh foods against each other for nutrition and calories. Prepare it all then psych yourself up to be able to eat it all and eat quickly. After 20 minutes your body is able to catch up with the food that you put into you, so if you can eat faster than your body can react (to tell you that you're full) then you'll be able to eat a lot more. Don't drink water before meals so you don't fill up as fast, save water for after meals are complete. And don't be surprised if people look at you like you're crazy when you say you want to gain weight. There are a lot of self-hating fatties that don't understand (even if you're fucking skinny as fuck) that someone could want to gain weight.
