All right, /fit/. This is my first time here, and I'm hoping for some good advice.

I'm not really a fatty (work out a bit, actually have a nicely built upper body, and well defined legs), but I do have this rather annoying belt of flab around my waist that I'm always combating. With the next semester at Uni coming up, we have the brand new Student Center opening up, with fully equipped gym.

So, I'm ready to try and work on this. I'm already setting up a proper eating plan, but what kind of stuff would you suggest for battling the waist flab? I was planning on plenty of cardio, my weapon of choice being a stationary bike. Your thoughts?

since im in a good mood for some reason i'll give you a bit of advice about posting questions in /fit/.

generally the only people who get honest and informative advice are those that show through their post that they've either lurked here for a bit

(((AND ARE THEREFORE NOT POSTING QUESTIONS THAT ARE POSTED EVERYDAY, SUCH AS YOURS)))

or people who have already done a bit of research beforehand. A little effort on your part is appreciated.

oh, and don't forget your squatz

Don't read a magazine of chat or whatever when doing your stationary bike. that shit should be intense. When you get off of it after 45 minutes, you should be dripping sweat. I go to a gym 3 times a week and see people who don't look like they've improved AT ALL in the last year and a half, mostly because they just chill there on a bike or a treadmill hardly working. Then theres the dude who joined 8 months ago whose lost at least 50 pounds, because he just goes in there and DESTROYS that stationary bike.

Cardio shouldn't be relaxing. figure out your max heart rate (220 minus your age) and bust ass for as long as you can at 75-90% of that.
