Good evening dear /fit/s. I am a weak bastard and I can't do a single pull up, I want to have the ability to do ~10-12 of them in a time span of about 2months from now. What exercises should I start with?

Pullups.

If you can't do 'em, find a gravitron, if you don't have access to one of those, there are ways you can build an assist or even just use a rope with footholes.

I already use the gravitron. Is there anything for the extra boost? Since I can't just use a single exercise to strengthen those parts.

The only other thing that I could suggest is lat pulldowns. They are similar in movement to pullups.

You have a few options.

1.) Hang. Do as much of a pull-up as you can, and hold it as long as you can. This is how I learned to do pull-ups in high school.

2.) Hang a resistance band from the pull up bar. Insert foot. Do pull-ups.

3.) Use the assisted pull-up machine. Do sets.

all of the above, except lat pulldowns - if you're doing the other stuff, they won't be needed.

Also squat, bench press, and bent row - the squat has a systematic muscle-building effect, the bench press will work out helping muscles, and the row will hit your back and arms from a different angle.

Thanks for the tips, btw one more question. Should I always try to do pullups at the my max possible weight, or at a medium hard weight till failure? And ~how many reps?

If you can do < 1 pull-up, establish a number of sets and reps and do them at a weight where you can do exactly that many. It's like any other lift. If you're doing sets of 5 reps, do them at a weight where you couldn't do 6 or 7 reps.

amirite?
