Two methods for that:

1) attach a dip belt to yourself
2) hold a dumbbell in between your legs

I user to do pullups before I started going to the gym. I used to max out at 10-12. After nearly a year of lifting in the gym 4 days a week I decided to give the pull-up bar a shot because the lat machines were all being hogged. I did 30, with every second one behind the head. Then I did a second set the same. I was pleasantly surprised how much my strength had improved.

I can do three.

You know why it's only three? Because I'm the only person I've ever seen who does it in proper form, all the way up so my head goes above the bar (without moving my neck) and all the way down back down to a dead hang, where I stop for one full second to eliminate momentum.

I'm actually heavier than the average for my height, in a normal country atleast(lol america). And the gym has changed my results very little.

My upper body strength is really bad (even after 8 months of going to the gym 3 times a week). I can't do pull ups or proper pushups, it sucks. When I try pushups it feels like I'm going to snap my neck and break my hands. I'M DOIN IT WRONG.

My legs are fucking amazing though, I can do 235lbs standing calf raise, 215lbs leg extension, 180lbs leg curls.
