Genes play an important role Anonymous
I almost don't want to post this due to all the ignorant fucks who have no clue about mental processes and brain chemistry.

Most personality characteristics are determined biologically by genes, as in you are born with a STRONG predisposition to act a certain way. Of course, the environment and effort can make MINOR changes, but everyone is born with a certain brain chemistry. And this will limit their thought processes to certain patterns.

As in, some men may think in a way that is charismatic and charming naturally, but lack the visual spacial talent to be come a skilled Architect, regardless of how long they try. Same the other way around, a man could be a great Architect (See...well alot of them. Antoni Gaudí for example, designed many great structures but was a recluse.) but be terrible with interpersonal skills and will never be able to be charming or good with people.

There have been Identical Twins separated at birth, that never saw each other once. When they were reunited they had strikingly similar personalities, the same interests, same quirks, etc... With minor different details which can be attributed to the different environments. The same genes produce the same personalities in different environments.

How can personality not be genetic? If two twins with the same genes who lived in different areas turn out practically the same, genetics must play a HUGE role.

inb4 faggots claiming everyone has the same potential, and anyone not good at things that they are simply are not trying enough. Ignoring things they suck at like cocksuckers.

Now. I'm not saying give up and gain 500 lbs and become the guild leader of a raiding guild in WoW. I'm sure alot of us could improve to the point of getting laid maybe 1/50 or 1/100 attempts if we practice enough (if you care enough to put that much time into it. But I honestly don't feel too bad about certain shortcomings that don't improve with practice. Theres a certain reason you don't improve after a certain point, your brain isn't wired to think along those lines.

Shut up, you get big muscles by lifting weights and eating right.

Well, genetics play a role of course.

I'm 5'7" and I'm 105 lbs naturally (Yeah a twig). I got to 135 by working out. Normal/Slimish. I had to eat 3000 calories to stay at 135 lbs.

I know many other people who could stay at 160-180 lbs at 3000 calories a day.

Yes. I could eat 6000 a day and bulk up. But I don't wish to spend that much time into my appearance. I can just wear a long sleeve plaid shirt over a t shirt and unbutton it. Ads 20 visual pounds. Why eat until i feel sick for such an easy fix?

Genetics play a role, but not as much as this ass hat is wanting to make out.

But have fun pigeon holing yourself and limiting your own potential with your mentality. It must feel good for you.

No you dipshit, to 20 actual pounds.

My shoulders are wider, so when a jacket or long sleeve plaid type shirt drapes on, it gives the illusion I am 20 lbs heavier, giving me a normal build of 150-160 lbs visually.

Fucking stupid shit.

genetics is fate

doent mean dont try hard, infact people who are deficient in a certain way work very hard and are dedicated, they can end up being superior to someone with genetic predisposition

tl;dr if you work hard you appreciate success, if you dont, you take success for granted

you are right to some degree, but as far as lifting if you want to be super toned and ripped, v shaped chest, ect. you HAVE to eat right and HAVE to lift. genetics do play a huge role, but in the end, the people who are the best at anything are the ones who work at it

personality is not completely genetic because medical conditions can alter personality permanently. Stroke for example. Depression for another. Both of these can be caused by non-genetic causes. Strokes from drug use or medications adverse interactions. Depression can be caused by pollution, poor diet, and medications. Allegra, the allergy pill, was banned from the US Air Force after too many pilots committed suicide after starting on it. You see regular people on forums complain of similar suicidal-levels of depression (that weren't there before) after taking Allegra, not everybody, but a few people react to it.

Depression if untreated for more than 3 years can "set" in the brain and become Dysthymia, or a permanent tendency towards depression for life, whether caused by genes, medicines, brain damage, rape trauma, PTSD, etc. So a forever-glum fellow you know may be depressed, but it may not be from his genes.

Learning new languages seems to add a 2nd personality to people (i.e. they act a little differently when you test them in the other language). Traumatic experience, like war or prison or being a victim of crime, also can cause personality changes.

And these are the personality changes _we_notice_. Other changes may happen for reasons we don't even notice. Nature vs. nuture totally oversimplifies what seems to happen to people if you stop thinking in terms of only 2 opposite explanations from pop-psychology.

This, I've been active in several athletic communities over the last few years and the same thing happens every time. The kids who are genetically gifted are the best players to begin with, but they don't really have to try, so as time goes on they get caught up by and usually beaten by the people who aren't so genetically gifted, because they're used to working hard for progress.

And then these people in turn get beaten by the people who have good genetics and work really hard.

OP Fails

The way a human acts is based almost 99% on the environment genes tends to olny hold minor effect on a person way of thinking.

The human brain is fited to apdat to it's environment it's whole thought procress it's based on that.

Now if we were "cavemen" and had to live in extreme conditions to the point were people had crap genes were not able to mate/Live to mate then, Genes would play a larger role,Still 85% of the human thought procress would be based environment.

Also were talking about the human thought procress not how we look.

I'm sure the right answer is somewhere in the middle of>>460812and OP.

I'm not sure what point there is to make in this thread though.

Meh it's always a bit of both.
Fag's can be born fucked in the head, with a little too much estrogen or something, or they can be raised by their mom and became a little bitch.
Either way something went wrong in development.

Either/either.

the twins example is flawed because theyre likely to be adopted by families in similar areas and therefore be exposed to similar formative experiences.

i dont think there has ever been a case where one twin was sent to bel air while the other to remote mongolia.

genetics does play an important role, but it is impossible to determine exactly how much and its stupid to make definite claims about something so intrinsically immeasurable
