what does /fit/ think of BMI?I'm only asking because I'm a naturally slender guy, so, I don't think I'll ever be considered "overweight" by the BMI standards.

>>176326? I always have been. I had to start working out to get into the "normal" range of BMI.
I've seen several different BMI tables. One i'm supposed to be around 160-180 (5'11), this one says 175-210. I dont think they are generally accurate since they come from averages taken in studies afaik.
so, BMI is a load of shit?
>>176332If you're an athlete yes.
BMI is easy to use and as such is useful for huge studies. Body fat percentage is much more useful on individual level.
>>176332Within reason yes. Everyone is built differently, this is just averages, i knew if i was at my "target" BMI, i'd be fucking anorexic.
>>176337Kick it up a notch and do Body Fat + Fat Free Muscle Index and you've got a persons exact body composition.
>>176339No you wouldn't fatso. That's not how it works.
BMI is accurate for those with average muscle mass and bone density.
