so.. /fit/ I'm lifting at home for strength training and I don't have an actual barbell. I just have a curl bar and have been using that for assorted exercises. Is this an alright alternative for the short term? it does make some exercises impossible. Like front SQUATZ.

no, it shouldn't make SQUATZ impossible...you could just use it like you would a full-size barbell.
