It's probably a type of pyramid routine.
Do 3 sets of 5 reps at a low weight.
Then 2 sets of 5 reps of a higher weight.
Then 1 set of 5 reps of an even higher weight.

Except normally pyramids are done with 1 set each. For example, 1 set of a low weight, then followed by a 2nd second set with moar weight, followed by a 3rd set with even moar weight.
