So hey /fit/... Got a question.

I'm 5'3.5", about 130 lb. I'm female. I feel like most of my body looks alright, but I'm fairly top heavy for my size (34E). What can I do to shape up around my chest/shoulders so I don't look so flabby?

Waist is only 27", flat stomach, I run 3x a week for 2 miles and do a 10minute mile on the elliptical. Halp?

You need to lift weights probably once a week. No need to go nuts, but cardio alone will not give you the results you're looking for. Adding muscle will tone you up.

All cardio and no weights = skinny fat.

I'm a similar kind of boob size to you and I know exactly what you mean.

I recommend doing around ten/twenty reps on a pec weight machine (not sure on the proper name) and then work out your arms a little bit. Maybe ten reps for front muscles, ten for the back.

You obviously don't need to be doing cardio to lose any weight, but make sure your heart rate is up first before doing weights.

My Great Aunt jogged until she was in her late 80s.

Doing regular cardio keeps a healthy heart.

Trust me: you don't build muscle really easily. Get it out of your head. You aren't special. You aren't magical. Even if you have higher test levels than a typical woman, your test level is still lower than the average man, and guess what? Testosterone moderates anabolism. So, at best, you put muscle on at a rate slower than a typical man, and a typical man puts muscle on very slowly indeed. Every fat broad I have ever met says that bullshit about putting on muscle really easily, and you're no exception. Don't assume that cause you are low body weight that you aren't fat; you can be under 120# and still be >30% BF. That's you; skinny-fat. The solution follows.

Hit the freeweights and do some decent cardio. You have big tits, and that's gonna suck for running, so get a Bounce Breaker bra from lululemon and go jogging. Google Couch to 5K for a decent plan if you are in as bad cardio shape as you are muscular shape. Basically, stick to big lifts like the bench, squat (great for the ass!) and deadlift, and tell anyone who tells you to do girly bullshit to fuck off and die.

Alternatively, stick with your lat pulldown bullshit, and enjoy watching yourself get fatter and fatter. Good luck and take care.

If one looks at average weight of women of 5'3 it is close to 120 lbs of females that are not running multiple times a week or any doing exercise for that matter.

You have got a long way to go.

I will say that huge part of goal depends on nutrition or eating habits.
Things that won't work:
-Not eating enough calories that are spread in 5 meals which sum up to at least 1500-1800 calories a day.
-Not eating enough PROTEIN --essential nutrient for repairing the muscles-- that get damaged after a long run.

If you are still "FLABBY" after months of running that means you are burning FAT as well as MUSCLES which is not good. The aim is to increase fat loss but REDUCE muscle loss. It can only be done with moderate exercise that not too hard for your body. In addition diet is 70% of the culprit during fat loss routine.

To keep weight moderated, use a stationary bike or a treadmill for 45min daily. Start eating more, and every Monday Wednesday Friday do 45 minutes of lifting with free weights and other upper body compound exercises - bench press, military press, push-up, pull-up, shrugs, and decline flys.

Within two months you'll tighten up your upper body pretty dramatically.

actually, you're an idiot. in the same way that some guys are genetically pre-determined to gain muscle fast, so are some girls. i know a couple like that myself, they have been big, strong and not fat their whole lives. there is also a history factor; kids who engage in manual labour or exercise when young find it much easier to gain mass and strength post puberty, even if they are girls. the mysotatin gene mutation can also occur in both men and women.

To make your tits smaller, just lose weight.

Tits are mostly fat tissue. They will be the first thing to get smaller when you diet and exercise.

Training your chest, while not doing anything to lose weight, will make your tits appear bigger. All you will do is make the pectoralis muscle bigger, which will push out your tits.

So just lose weight if its a big problem. 'Spot reduction' of the tit will do basically nothing. You don't have saggy tit muscle. You have fatty tit - which is what all tits are. Again. Lose weight. You seem to be in good health, but your diet and exercise are probably calorically neutral right now. You need a defecit. Lose 10-15lbs and your tits will get smaller.

If you want to shape up you shoulders and chest you should, surprise surprise, do shoulder and chest exercises. It doesn't have to be anything advanced; Bench, both flat, incline and decline, coupled with shoulder press, will build these areas. Don't use machines; restricted ROM sucks. Use free weights whenever possible. This builds your stabilizers and gives more even and natural results.

I'm not flabby at all, I'm actually pretty solid. just not very good about doing arm/shoulder/chest exercises because I've always been paranoid of developing big man-shoulders.
