Hey there /fit/,

I am working on cutting fat right now. I really hate feeling hungry all the time, though. Any recommendations for snacks that fill you up but don't pack on the calories?

An example: Pickles. One spear = five calories.

Also, as a side note, I am a little over 6'2". What is a good target weight for me? I started at 185, bulked until I was 208, and now I am cutting (currently at about 200). My original goal was 225 (Superman is 225, 6'3") but I am beginning to think that might be a little too bulky. I don't want to be a titan, I just want to attract teh ladies at the beach, or something like that.

In before "Superman is so gay! LOL."

You're doing it wrong. Eat a small meal every 2 hours. Chicken breasts are key. Yogurt, whole wheat cereals, broccoli. By not eating all you're gonna do is slow your metabolism down.

What? Say it ain't so!

I just picked superman as a (sort of) arbitrary goal for 'fit and tone,' and used his canonical weight and height. I am looking for an actual goal. Help me out here.

Eat a small meal every two hours? Come on. Breaking up a calorie-deficit diet like that equals, what, 200 calories each 'meal?' A fucking egg is 100 calories. Lets call these 'meals' what they are: regular 'snacks.'

Yogurt is a good suggestion. More like that.

a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal worked for me.

inb4 "oh noes coffee is bad 4you"

basically yeah spread out your total calories that add up to a deficit throughout the day. It will keep your metabolism boosted. I lost 20 lbs with basically chicken breasts, yogurt, steamed broccoli, and a healthy cereal. I worked the night shift at my job, pretty much ate every break I had.

ITT: Spiderman made Superman gay.

You act all incredulous but the fact is that this is how it is done.

this may the best way but, it isn't practical for everyone. some of us don't have time to put down the phone, call time out in a meeting, or put down the spatula and have a meal every two hours.

This is the thinking that keeps people fat.

So, when on a deficit, should I still focus on getting a ton of protein? I keep reading stuff about it boosting your insulin levels, keeping your body from burning fat, rather than carbs or whatever.

How can I prevent muscle loss? I am lifting regularly. What should I do about my protein intake level?

How much should I really worry about muscle loss?

I was acting incredulous because I don't consider 200 calories a 'meal.' Especially not after I got used to a diet for bulking. I am fine with the concept, willing to do it, just sad that I am not supposed to eat a whole sandwich in one sitting.

It isn't a way of thinking, its just reality: Shit happens and you have to find an alternative. I think that trying to do do things the way someone else would do and not finding your own way is what keeps people fat.

Your body shouldn't start eating your muscle that fast, you aren't fasting. You can throw in a protein shake as one of your meals. 300 cals, all protein nearly.
