Any runners out there? Anonymous
Hey /fit/

I was on the wrestling team at my high school for 4 years, so up until graduation I was in pretty good shape. I was 5'9", 185lbs (Bench 225, Squat 350, Deadlift 400) However, recently I've gained about 30 lbs and I haven't lifted weights since last May.

The obvious choice for me is to start running again, however I've never really done any long distance running since wrestling doesn't really require long term endurance.

Anyways, I ran 3 miles today in 23 minutes. Is this a good start? When should I start running longer distances? How long should I run etc.?

And does anon have any other advice about losing this extra 30lbs, since I'm going to be joining ROTC at college soon.

In return, tits

shit you went from 185 to 215 by "accident"?

1. No more junk food
2. No more soda'S

run every other day 3miles. Day A as fast as possible, slow down and repeat. Day B go for 5 miles slow jog with goal to increase distance and not speed. On off days alternate between weighted pull-ups/push ups/abs. Also don'T forget to work on your grip.

You will be doing forced marches with rucksack, fast runs and bodyweight exercises for time so be prepared...also get used to wake up really fucking early (0500)

OP here - I never said it was an accident. I know exactly why I gained weight.
1. No longer working out every day at school
2. I quit Adderall
3. Laziness

>...also get used to wake up really fucking early (0500)

Yeah that's gonna take some getting used to

the best way to burn fat when running is in intervals.

sprint, jog/walk, spring, jog/walk...repeat.

being a wrestler i know this feeling
your done you get to eat all the food you want and no more cutting. But the thing is there no shape like wrestling shape so find a local high school and ask to train with them.

OP here - A varsity wrestling match is 3, two minute periods, why would I need long term aerobic endurance for something like that?

oh forgot though this week is the week of state if you live in California, so if you do find a team with good off season (if you live in California)

um no offense but you weren't from a good wrestling school were you? Wrestling is the hardest high school sport, and one of THE hardest in the world.

That's not a half bad idea, and my old high school didn't send anyone past regionals this year. I'll look into that.

Tbh, no. Texas isn't that enthusiastic about wrestling. My sophomore year I got a new coach from Oklahoma University, so his strategy was to keep us running sprints, short distance running, and heavy weight lifting in order to get us in shape ASAP for the next season. It worked pretty well IMO.

yeah im from poway, our coach nationally known blah, blah, blah. He's a nazi to be short could make a work out to break anyone in 20 min. Our school known to be good. I on the other hand am average I choose to do other thing other than wrestling ( FUCK YEAH GAMING,GF,MORE GAMING) but it weird though like hearing other methods that other coaches use. Next year our coach is going to be taking more of the #1 ranked school in the nations training methods.....isn't that going to be fun..... btw>>21463

OP here - I was pretty average as well, never made it past regionals. I might of if I wasn't involved with so much other extracurricular crap. I was more concerned with looking good and lifting weights.

I remember the worst workout I ever had. 45 minutes in push up position, 45 minutes of wall sits, then 20 minutes of continuous wrestling. Not fun.

yeah your lucky... my coach told us that wrestling probably wont be fun and has broken the entire team in 30 minutes cause we pissed him off. Guy's like 60 but holy hell he could beat the fuck out of any high schooler easy. the hardest work out ive had was the 2 hours of live wrestling with out stopping. went home slept 15 hours
