hay /fit/

i've been a little overweight pretty much my whole life and now im working on fixing it. i noticed though that my ribs seem to stick out as far as my stomach does. im worried that if i shrink down my stomach a bit my ribs will be left sticking out looking all weird. am i just imagining this? or if it is true will they somehow shrink down with the rest of me?

I've been wondsring this too.
My ribcage is big.

Excuses and worry do not burn calories or build muscle tone. What's next, "Do these gym shorts make me look fat?" GTFO to the gym.

this is relevant to my interests as well.

My rib cage is huge - not being fooled by fat or anything else.

"big" male here... 6'3", 240.

I have the same problem.

I'm thinking that your ribcage would shrink a bit because look at all those motivational pictures. I'm sure all those really heavy people weren't ALL fat higher up on their ribcage. There ribs must have been big too.

put some muscle on your ribs and it'll look fine

They probably have fat over them. So they will seem to shrink, yes.

this IS actually helpful and probably true.

Same story here. If anything, when you flex your abs, it should all come into shape smoothly anyways. Keep at it, soldier.

I lost 45 pounds(200 -> 155) and when I was 200, I worried about this. There's that "oh I'm not that fat, i can see my ribcage!" or "the reason I'm so big is because my ribcage is huge". When I lost the weight, my ribcage went down with it very proportionally and it doesn't look "wierd" at all. I believe there is fat under and over your ribcage. So even if you "think" you have a big ribcage, that just means there's more fat under there to lose and means it'll drop more pounds on the scale.

I think the bigger issue though is loose skin(although I have zero problem with it, I hear 250lb+ people that drop weight do)

I was wondering about that loose skin thing too. I was 234lbs and am now 214, no loose ski so far, but i'm going to lose another 30 pounds over the next three months. Is there any way I can find out in advance if I could get loose skin?

Or should I just do even MOAR SQUATZ to build up as much muscle as possible?
