Hey everyone again.

Today is my 16th day on my diet, and I'm doing well.

Like I told everyone before, my weight at beginning was 400 pounds, and I led a sedentary lifestyle. I ate like a fucking pig, easily downing 4000 calories a day occasionally.I slept around 10 hours+ a day, and I did nothign but loaf around ,play games and be a general boorish son of a gun.

But, now I'm into my 16th day, and I can say I'm proud to report my first initial reports. At the start of my diet, my pressure read at 173, which as you know, was Hypertension Stage 2, which is needless to say, really bad.And of course, my 400 pounds.

However, thanks to a lot of hardwork and exercise, I can report that my pressure dropped today to 151, which is only Stage one Hypertension. 20 points. And I lost 8 Pounds.

It's small, but little accomplishments like that give me the strength to keep on going. Yes, this is the same guy that is doing DDR 3 times a day for 2-30 minutes each session.

My knee pains are still there, occasionally, yes, but my stamina has improved a lot, and the pain has begun to lessen. I can now do the jumps and doubles without a lot of pain, and my energy is really increasing. At first I thought exercizing everyday this much was gonna kill me, but I thought wrong.

I've gotten used to it, and I even look forward to my morning one...It's how I have energy to do stuff the day...Heh.

Good question.

I think it had something to do with a general lack of caring for fitness, a tendency to overindulge in delicious food, a sedentary lifestyle with little interest in physical activities through my life.

I'm sure there's a few nagging quirks here and there, but most of it can be attributed to general lazyness and lack of willpower.

I guess the difference here is that I really want to lose weight now....Dont know WHY...maybe it's because I'm 25 and I know I wont live too long if I dont take better care of myself.

THe first week was absolute murder, though. Not to mention resisting going out and pigging out.

I think its one thing to be lazy but its another to pretty much want to eat yourself to death. Also, what made you want to lose the weight? any specific event happen that made you want to lose it.

To be totally honest...

I dont know. One day, around 17 or so days ago, I think the thought of "I'm Tired of Being Fat. suddenly popped into my head, and I gave it some carefull thought, studies my alternatives, gave myself a honest analysis, and well....began working.

Sure, I had no idea if I could succeed, for I know that I had failed every damn diet in the past.

But, I guess that one day, something "clicked' in my head, and I felt it was the right time for a lifestyle change. The rest was pure willpower, and maybe God pumping some help into my damn body, cuz I sure as hell slept a LOT before. Now I can work fine with 7 or 8 hours.

Keep up the good work mate.
And 8 pounds is pretty damn good for just about 2 weeks. Keep us informed as well.

Keep up the DDR. It might not be much, but it's a pretty good start.

How's your nutrition?

i worked at gameworks a while ago and there was a really huge guy that lost a ton of weight playing ddr

It's going well, I eat tons of veggies and eat my 3 squares a day, and I've begun...sigh, replacing my breakfast with...gah, Oats. It's horrible, I dislike em' with a passion.I eat chicken or red meat, with dinner or lunch, but the amounts are limited.

I also eat my snacks to keep the diet up, by eating apples and other fruits.I do not drink soda anymore, nor do I allow myself to eat out whenever possible.I've only broken this twice out of necessity, and I controlled my eating by reading the labels and choosing wisely.

I'd say I eat 2000, to 2100 calories a day, and being honest. One day a week, I allow myself to choose a snack or particular thing outside of my diet I'd like to eat, and eat it with gusto.

Today was that day...but I felt so guilty, I skipped one of my meals and hit the exercise extra hard.

Counting calories makes you feel guilty, man.

Instant oatmeal is pretty tasty and remains a reasonable diet food if you mix one packet of plain with one packet of flavored

Just make sure you're developing habits that you can maintain in the long run, no point in losing 20 pounds just to gain it all back

I feel for you OP.

I was only around 220 when I decided I needed to lose weight and I still found it hard to maintain willpower for it, it still struck me as a daunting task.

Good to see that you're actually taking action here, you'll be grateful for it in the long run. Still, it's quite a project you have on your hands, and I wish you the best of luck with it.

Thanks for the input and kind words. I thank everyone in this thread for helping a fella trying to lose some weight.

Yeah, it's a crazy task, but I'm still hanging in there, fighting the good fight.

A final question, though...

Does anyone know if Diet Beverages are good or bad?

I mean, they seem to be zero calories, and all but what with all the rumours , it's hard to know the truth.

Nobody cares fatass. You're not the only one in the world who lost weight. Now shut the fuck up, get of your computer and do some more squatz.
>> Anonymous
Hey OP.

You rock man. You totally fucking rock.

For diet drinks, I don't know. When I have a soda rage, I just go for Sprite Zero.

One of my colleagues is a pretty big guy too, started off around 350, he's now down to 300. One of the things he did, because his knees hurt like yours, was threadmill. Instead of speed, he increased the incline. Maybe that can work for you.

Keep it up man. I believe in you.

Can you post a picture?

Also, good job OP. Keep it up.

Thanks, friend. I appretiate it.

I think i'll heed your advice and just keep the diet soda to a minimum, only to when I get a craving or something.

Sprite Zero it is, then. I wonder if Diet Coke works well too.

Y'know, water only goes so far. And well, tea isnt that tasty to me.

And yeah, to>>468014, I know, more squatz, more oatz. Blargh, I 've been adding 2 reps of 10 squatz to my DDR sessions. Geez, man, those hurt and tire you out SO fast. And I hate , HATE oats....but I gotta manage. Cinnamon and a little bit' o sugar help. No butter, though, dont want the calories.

Still havent found a good combination to make em passable.

>>468071
Not yet, I took some with a disposeable camera to mark my beginning, but I havent revealed em' yet. Maybe I'll post em after I make a month in, with a comparison one. Not that 14 pounds will be noticeable.

It's best to avoid them if possible. There is no conclusive evidence either way that can get either side to shut up completely, but common sense will tell you it's not the best idea to put something in your body that is not recognized, nutritionally valuable, etc. If fruit is helping you stay away from soda, even the calories are worth it. If you can't stand water, enjoy a small 8 oz. glass of OJ or milk, or if you want something sweet, brew some hot tea with honey. Honey is excellent for you (or look up other natural sweetners). If you want it cold, just chill it after that. Enjoy.

Also, good job OP! You seem to have some common sense. I'm fat, too, and reached a weight that I didn't think possible. A lot of people, like>>467898, think that it requires effort, but it really doesn't at all. If you excessively eat food for one reason or another, over the years (especially if you metabolism starts slowing with age, etc. once you're out of puberty) it just happens. And if you don't care about your body (or at least care about food more), then it just happens with little to no effort. You seem to be approaching your situation sensibly with a good head on your shoulders. I don't have a gaming system anymore, but I used to do DDR back in the day at home and it was a GREAT workout. It might not be the best for someone in the normal weight range, but it's great for anyone overweight and quite effective. You can compare it to jumping rope or jumping jacks, both of which are exercise staples. Anyways... good luck! Keep updating us. =)

Diet soda is diet soda is diet soda. Some are sweetened with different fake sugars, but in general, fake sugar is fake sugar is fake sugar. Doesn't matter whether it's diet Sprite or Diet Coke. About the only fake sugars I use is in sugar free jello.

sucralose (sp?) or stevia?

Hey OP.
Good to hear man, keep us updated - no sage advice from me as i'm pretty new to /fit/ myself.

Oh yeah, random question if anyone in the thread's feeling generous. How does iced tea stack up against something like soda?

>>468230
Pretty well. It's delicious as well as not being disgusting. Unless you get something like the Lipton's with so much HFCS it has turned to slime.

Noted, cheers.

What I did instead of diet pop was use those Crystal Lite Lemon-Aid packets. They're relatively cheap and they only have 5 calories per packet.

Hope to see you here more often man. Keep up the great work.

Guy from>>468066here. Listen, about water, the trick is to treat it the same as soda. Soda is best chilled, so don't take water from the tap, keep it in a Brita or just a plain pitcher in the fridge. Huge difference. An ice cold glass of water is really good!

Also, down a glass or two before meals. That will give you a sensation of being more full. Well, experiment with it and see if you like it.

Soda is best chilled because the temperature detracts from the taste. Just like mouth breathers love their ice cold beer — the swill they buy is undrinkable at good beer temperatures. Room temperature water = love.

Being able to taste flavors in your water is disgusting for the most part

Water doesn't have a flavor.
