How to train my ability to jump?

I'm 6 ft/184 cm tall, I weigh 72kg, and I want to be able to touch the rim of the basket.

what sort of exercises should i practice and what should i try focusing on?

To work out all the muscles you need to jump higher, I would advise jumping.

Calf muscles.

Stand on the edge of a stair, with your heels not on it, and move up and down.

This is the correct answer. Stand under the net and jump straight up. You'll be able to do that before running at the same time.

Losing any extra weight would help (including clothes/shoes). Stretching your arm and shoulder could get you a couple inches. I'm 5'11" and I can grab a rim but can't palm a ball while doing it.

calf raises are good, running is good, but if you lift freeweights focus on exploding into the rep, that is if you're doing squats, go down slow, not too slow! you could hurt yourself, and go up as fast as you can without your feet leaving the gouud. which is another exercise altogether
