Today I ran for the first time ever. Decided to get into shape. I need to slim down to about 200 lbs from 265-ish and figured running was a good way to start. However, problems arose when running hurt my entire body to a ridiculous level. Everything is on fire. Is this pretty normal? Should I start by just brisk walking and work my way up to jogging or what. Also, I can't afford a gym so that's out of the question.
You want to be able to perform half an hour of cardiovascular exercise, so if you have to start with power walking and gradually build up to a run.
