What is /fit/'s consensus on the importance of rest between weight lifting that involves the same muscle groups?

I generally just make sure I can do it. As in, do another muscle group between it. Like, do shoulder work, run off and do some leg work, then run away again and do some military press.

Do you literally make no gains, going from no weights, to same old routine with weights day in day out?

Or does it merely limit success with muscle growth and just lead to early plateau.

Some days I need a day of rest, others I don't.

Opinions /fit/?

Honestly, can't believe it does much harm aside from not letting muscles recover if you overdo it.

Doesn't. Don't overdo it. Your muscles need to rest. If you start losing strength you're doing it rong. Now moar blackimono?
