What do you guys think of white rice? I think I may be adding too many carbohydrates by eating a serving.

White rice is considerably less good for you than brown rice. White rice has almost all of the nutrients taken away from the original seed and is basically all carbohydrates without the natural protein and fiber from brown original whole grain rice.

Eat whole grain EVERYTHING and you will be a lot healthier.

it does taste worse. especially with soups etc.

but i honestly think with the amount of rice us asians consume, switching to wild rice would be a HUGE benefit.

but my whole family gave up on it because it tastes worse, takes more effort to make, and is more expensive.

Asian eat a LOT of rice.

I love brown rice, personally. It's WAY better for you. The secret to making it taste really good is substituting some of the water for chicken broth.

Coming from another Asian family, Asians tend to eat a lot healthier foods than other races in general. Eating rice with your meals probably means that your 'rents have made some home cooked food, which is good.

Wild rice isn't worth it IMO =(.

Try using coconut milk/water, and mix in some beans with it.

It's a Jamaican dish called rice and peas, and it's delicious.

I call bullshit on brown rice being healthier and having more shit.

I looked on the nutrients, side-by-side of both and brown rice had 1% of daily fat and protein, where as white had 1% of carbohydrates. (I didn't look at grams, too lazy). Calories in white rice were only 10 more per serving than brown rice.

Seriously, the MINUSCULE differences between the two mean shit. If your so worried about protein in your rice, you should be taking a protein supplement, not trying to get it from your RICE.

You guys need to be less anal about fucking rice.

Brown rice is healthier, but since white rice is usually fortified with nutrients after it's been processed, it is only healthier because it has more fiber, which is what we are usually more deficient in.

If white rice tastes better then eat it. Not much difference.

the nutrition facts label DOES NOT tell the whole story. check any source, they'll tell you 75% of the of vitamins and minerals are stripped away from the course outer layer and germ, leaving only the white pasty carbs inside.
