I've just recently started jogging/running/squatz to get my lazy ass into shape, and I want to start trying HIIT with jogging/sprints. Have a question though:
My house is located on a hill, with about a 20% grade road downhill to the highway about a half a mile away. Is there a certain way I should be doing this? Jog down to the bottom, then do HIIT up the hill? I tried doing it down the hill, but sprinting downhill was lolshitimgonnalosebalanc.
Sprint uphill, turn around and jog down? What is the best way to utilize what I have?

if you must, then spring up, but don't do it down.
Use your brain man.

You could sprint uphill, then jog down gently as your Hiit rest. Sprint back up, jog back down etc.

I think that would be best. Alternatively, just keep going up and down, alternating your sprint/jog every 5 seconds. So you'll do some sprinting up and some sprinting down. You'll also jog both ways obviously.

I'd probably stick to sprinting up though. The gradient will slay you... and running really fast down a slope is a bad idea.
