Hi mis/fit/s,

I started weightlifting 2 weeks ago, and I was wondering something about how my body adjusts to the workouts. The first week, I was very sore the day after my workouts, but the next week (after pushing myself just as hard, I think), There was little, if any, soreness the day after each workout. Is this my body adjusting to the stress, or am I doing something wrong? I'm worried that I may be preventing myself from making any serious improvement.

you'll be sore but always helps to make sure your form is good.

sloppy form + weights = zone of pain and ow.

also, are you give yourself a day of rest in between? since you're a beginner, i wouldn't do 2 days/same muscle groups in a row.

Yeah, I'm giving myself rest. What I'm saying is that the first week that I did, let's say back/biceps, I was very sore the next day, but when it came time to do them again next week, I wasn't sore the day after.

awesome then! (same poster as above)

if you're using dumbbells, i would just stick to low weight/high reps and as you get better and gain more endurance, move up to high weight/low reps.

it's all preference and comfort. i use anything from 3-5lbs. for most things, you won't need more than 5. most people usually go way too heavy and it doesn't do much heheh.

also, a tip that's helped me with weights:
be sure to stretch properly during and after your routine. and take some breaks. i take a vitamin e before going to bed and don't feel sore in the morning.

happy lifting!
