So, I was invited to a community swimming pool by my flatmate yesterday, which was actually quite enjoyable. I cramped all over a whole bunch but swam through it and after a couple of hours had worked up a dandy ache and was feeling accomplished for having gotten off my ass.

Now I'm feeling fitness-y and don't know where to start. I'm horribly out of shape, haven't had a serious excersise in years. My flatmate goes swimming once a week, I'm like to join him regularly. He also runs sporadicly, might try some of that too.

Other than that, I have no tools. I'm contemplating joining a gym, but I thought I'd ask you guys if there's a better way to just generally get into shape, work my muscles a bit and trim the fat.

Everyone asks the same thing.

Well then how about a template or a sticky, helpful guy?

just eat right (cut out the crap, and you know what the crap is), run, push-ups, sit-ups, just to get started.

But I love the crap! I just wanted to get into shape without making any sacrifices.

I don't have exceptional willpower but I'll give it a shot, seems simple enough.

How does sleep cycle affect this sort of thing?
