Halp, maybe. Hagar the Horrible !!gue29btBylw
Dear /fit/:
I'm 18, about 6'0", and I weight ~220lb. I'm moving across the country in July, and there's a girl that I want to make a better impression to before I leave. She means alot to me, she's skinny (though she doesn't exercise and eats whatever she wants, arg.) and I'm a tank. So I'd like to lose weight by July, before Prom would be awesome. Perhaps bring myself down below 200lb (realistic goal?). I work, so money for special food shouldn't be too big of a deal, and I have regular access to a Bowflex XTL and a NordicTrack C2000 Treadmill in my basement. I have a slow cooker, rice cooker, emulsifier, and a foreman grill.

I also lack motivation, and need a strict plan to follow.

Thanks for any help you can give me, /fit/. I appreciate it.

OP here, forgot to mention that I also have a mountain bike and a nice pair of Saucony running shoes.

three things:
1. diet
2. cardio
3. weights

1: drink water and water only. Avoid fat. Avoid simple carbs like sugar. Eat more protein e.g. fish and meat.

2: bike, swim or walk/jog/run regularly. Cardio will burn fat.

3: make a weights workout: http://www.exrx.net/Workouts/Workout1LTA.html

or look under bodybuilding.com
or join a gym.

Hey man just start running 3 - 4 times, use you're bike and doing push ups, pull ups, and ect. You're goal is very realistic infact if you're dedicated you might even loose more.

I assume by water and water only you mean none of that flavoured water stuff. (Aquafina plus+ vitamin water, it's tasty)

I kind of have issues with meat, but fish is easily doable. How plain of a fish should I be eating?

I'll check out the weights workout page, thanks.

I'll probably start biking to work once the weather clears up a bit, though my bike needs a major tuning. Got stolen and/or semi-trashed over the summer.

Oh, hah. Lulzy reply, but my mom is a tool and bought a Tony Little Gazelle and an ab lounge. They any good?

If you are working out, your body will need protein to repair and build muscle.
1 to 2 grams per lbs bodyweight.
Fish and meat are good protein sources.
Tuna, cod, etc.
The less butter and fat you use to prepare it, the better.
If you want to build muscle, protein supplements such as whey protein are a good idea.
You should provide protein in the first half hour after workout, that's when your body can absorb more than usual.

Just get used to pure water. Avoid aroma and sweeteners, that stuff is pure chemistry and plain nasty.
Vitamins, magnesium and other supplements are not bad.
I use magnesium personally to avoid cramps.

Forget tools.
The best workouts are simple.
Want to train your abs? Start with crunches, then try out other methods.
The only tools I'd recommend for a start are a flatbench, two dumbbells and a bike.

Is any particular type of fish best? Salmon sounds like a good idea because it can be done with minimal oils and you can just use lemon for taste.

Also, any recipes?

Also, is sticky rice + soy sauce okay for a meal?

the gazelle isn't really great in the sense that it's no better than running (i think)... however it may be easier for you to turn a movie on and gazelle for two hours than it would be to maintain motivation to run for two hours outside

oh dicks, I could totally gazelle and watch fucking old cartoons for two hours. :O

Salmon is pretty fat by itself. Trout is much better.

Rice is carbohydrates, meaning pure energy.
It's good before training to give you energy, however eat it moderately, else you'll take in more energy than you burn.
This is important for everything.
Eat less calories than you burn per day.
A working man needs around 2500 calories per day.
Eat 2200 and you'll lose fat every day.
Same with soy sauce.
It's rather sweet, so lots of energy.
Not bad in itself, but be moderate.

So in measuring cup terms, how much is a good amount of rice to eat?

Soy Sauce is a given, I have the light sushi stuff that I get from the specialty store. Expensive, but so worth it.

Do the velocity diet, you've got a short time frame and a good bit to lose.

You could hit your goal and build some muscle even, in time for prom.

IF YOU STICK TO IT LIKE FUCKING MOLD TO A SIX MONTH OLD SANDWICH.

I was perusing the velocity diet. I looks pretty batshit insane. Any good guides to it?

the one on tnation's all you need.

There's also a slightly dumbed down version on MWA (the female tnation) which I find comical.

It is batshit insane, but the results are worth it, and it's a really good way to lead into a healthy lifestyle, because it takes 4 weeks to get around where you want to be, so you don't lose momentum with weight loss, you gain it! =D

I've been tracking my food intake on fitday.com, in the past week I've been signed up I've not eaten more than 1700 cal in a day, and that's overstimating measurements. I haven't done anything drastic to my diet, but I'm on Easter break back at home so maybe I'm just eating less shit than usual.

I am 21 and usually 224 but since I started gym 3 weeks back I'm probably 219 or so now.

I feel a little hungry at times but I just don't act on it like I used to. Should I carry on like this, eating 800cal under??

Nah, you should invest in a shitload of low carb metabolic drive, surge, flax seeds (do you see where this is going?:P)
