A free gym membership recently came into my possession.

I want to start using it, but I'm afraid the athletic people there will judge me.

LOL, whatever you say internet tough guys.

To OP - just go. Fit people at the gym won't judge you for being out of shape. In fact, they'll probably respect you for trying to better yourself.

I had a similar problem issue. It depends on the gy m, really. The one I joined was a small neighborhood gym where people were serious about working out, not p osing. Several people from there won bodybuilding awards even.

I started otu going way late (24 hour key gym) and it was great. I moved away and miss it. :(

Summary: If they judge you, fuck 'em. This is your body and health you're working on not theirs.

You have nothing to worry about, fit people and unfit people go to the gym, everyone has to start somewhere and noone will judge you. People are usually more than happy to answer any questions you have with working out too!
>> Anonymous
Nobody's gonna judge you, you're not a fatass in McDonalds, you're a fatass at the gym.
>> Anonymous
I'm going to laugh at your miserable fat ass if i see you come in my gym, OP.
>> Anonymous
GUESS WHAT, THEY ALREADY JUDGE YOU AND YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

GO TO THE FUCKING GYM, AND IF THEY SAY SHIT TO YOU TELL THEM TO FUCK OFF.
>> Anonymous
To be blunt, no one at a gym gives a shit about you, except maybe a personal trainer, but even that is stretching it, they just want your money.
>> Anonymous
ironically enough, i think theres more pressure being a fit person at the gym imo, you want to lift and perform better than others
>> Anonymous
I respect people more at the gym

Go to the gym

shut up and go. Any "/fit/" guy in the gym who gives you shit or judges you has serious self confidence issues.

Don't half ass it. Take advantage of this opportunity. Read around (Starting Strength on RS) so you have some idea what to do and then follow that program to the T. People will respect your dedication to it and the results that come with it. It will make you a healthier, stronger, more confident person and you will even get laid.

I don't ever look down at the unathletic at the gym. It's all the meatheads doing their endless curls in front of the mirror and in the squat rack that I laugh at.

what he said. take advantage and do it. best chance you will get.

protip!

Anyone at the gym who is fit enough to judge other people is so self-absorbed/busy that they'll never notice you anyway.

you have nothing to worry about, now stop making excuses and go exercise.
>> Anonymous
Everyone I know has respect for people who are at the gym, aslong as they aren't doing something fucktarded like curling in the squat rack... or only curling

faggot ass OP is a faggot

TBH I normally just feel bad for unfit people at the gym, ie.skinny and fat people. Its not that I don't respect them, I just want them to keep working out to get in better shape.
>> Anonymous
We WILL judge you, but it will make you hard and turn you into one of us: experts at weightlifting.
>> Anonymous
Athletic gym rat here--couldn't give two shits about you, what you look like, the thoughts on your mind, et cet. I'm here to do my thing and leave after an hour or so of minding my own business. You must think you're pretty fucking special with *your* insecurities, don't you Mr. Wonderful? I mean, it's not like anyone else that goes to the gym is/was at some point insecure with themselves. Man up, maggot.

I'm in very good shape and I have a lot of respect for obese/unfit people who work out because I know much harder everything is for them.

bullshit. They obviously knew they were getting worst and they continued. Skinny people i can understand but fucking fat fucks who knew that eating that donut is going to blow them up and yet they ate it. Do you fucking feel sorry for smokers who got cancer?

>>353248
yeah bcuz they wer addictd amirite?
>> Anonymous
>>353248
Excuse me good sir, but how can you honestly say that? When it is their parents who taught them their eating habits? It might be their fault that they didn't stop it sooner, but to imply that they knew this was going to happen from Day 1, is completely and utterly stupid.(I need a thesaurus.)
>> Anonymous
honestly, they are probably more interested in you not getting in their way, regardless of how you look. Any interest other than that might be more directed toward how you view them rather than how they view you.
