hey /fit/

I was at the gym the other day and this 71 year old man could bicep curl all the plates on the bicep machine. He told me the secret was to do dropsets on every muscle for one day, then the next day do cardio. In my experience, I just did a muscle group a day and cardio on an off day...so what i'm asking is if this old man is right.

tl;dr- Do drop sets do more then a regular workout?

drop sets are better because you train multiple muscle groups as you handle them. So its better if you train for practical purposes. if you do it to pump up, the machines work fine. But machines tend to focus on specialized groups.

"manual is better" id say.

In my experience, no set is better that any other set, so long as you still fatigue your muscles and reach failure.

If you solely base your workouts on drop sets you will initially have great gains but then will plateau as your body becomes accustomed to it.
The best thing to do is to switch it up every couple of weeks, go from normal sets, to pyramids, to drop sets, to alternating sets.
