What does /fit/ think about meat? Anonymous
Former vegfag here. I'm wondering what /fit/ thinks about meat from a fitness perspective. I eat beef every few days, to keep up my iron and B12, but don't eat pork or pork products very often, as I am under the impression that pork is not a healthy meat.

What do you guys think? Are there other meats I should eat more of? Is pork unhealthy? Or would I be better off reverting to vegfaggotry?

Turkey is a great alternative to beef and pork. Personally, I only eat turkey and fish, vegg and fruits.

Hope this isn't troll!

Meat is great. Most of the fats aren't that bad for you either to be honest. Obviously ripping into an entire piece of pure fat off the side of your 30oz steak isn't a great idea... but you get the point.

Pork is rather lean now, sometimes as lean as more lean then chicken. When I was a vegfag I ate way too much cheese since it was my "quickfix" meal. No food for lunch? Quesadilla. Quick sandwich? Grilled Cheese.

When I started eating lean meats, it was obviously a little healthier.

Using this thread instead of starting another(and cause this reminded me I wanted to ask this).

I'm losing my taste for meat. Why? I was always weird as a little kid. I liked broccoli, and I have never had a steak that I would consider good.

Still.. the delicious taste of murder is no longer quite so delicious. My taste for it fades by the day.

Why?

Cottage cheese FTW, only 10g of fat/100g.

Meat is fucking godly.

I just picked up a 16 pound prime ribeye cut from Restaurant Depot for $110, and I've just sliced and ate a steak off it.

$6.75 a pound is better than what those faggot cunts at the Safeway charge for ribeye (LOL $18 A POUND).

Meat provides proteine, B-vitamines, creatine and iron. It's pretty much essential unless you want to use supplements

I love meat, and in reasonable quantities it's quite good for you.

Here's a yahoo health article about the leanest kinds of red meat you can get:

I live in Louisiana, so I can eat deer meat for free on a regular basis. Mmmmmm.

Meat is the shit. Personally I eat is as much as I can, but mostly only the lean stuff. I'm also a Chipotlefag, because it allows me to eat meat cheaply.

tl;dr meat is awesome as long as you aren't "chewing the fat" so to speak

Beef, lamb, and chicken are all great in my book. Also organ meats. I eat them with a ton of fat too since the "science" behind its supposed risks doesn't pan out in reality.
>> Dr. Baron von Evilsatan
The human diet was always meant to include meat. It's where you get most protein and iron from, and most importantly, it's good.

You know that stupid smile you make when you order the all-you-can-eat at a South American BBQ restaurant and they put down a tray with a half-kilo of meat in front of you? That's your body telling you that this is a good thing to happen.

meat's good as long as you don't eat a pound of it every day

Cottage cheese also includes an enzyme which restricts muscle loss (body using muscle as fuel) so a portion or two of that a day is great if you're on a rest day or cardio day.

really? That's a pity, because it's so much less fattening than cheddar. :-/

Probably you're losing your taste for meat that is always cooked in a certain way and served with the same condiments and sides.

Meat is to be savoured. Reduce portion size, and work out a new and different way to cook and eat each time.

The less carbohydrate you eat the better meat tastes. Artificial sweetener makes you lose your taste also.

On anabolic diet 90% of the food you eat is meat eggs and cheese. After a few days its really best tasting things you could ever eat. The best thing is all the tasty parts of animals are the cheapest because of idiots who will pay so much for chicken breast and extra lean ground beef.

Unfortunately low carb cutting makes me feel like shit so I'm back on regular boring 40/40/20 food right now. Its a plus though that the food is so unappetizing I don't want to go over cals for the day.

Pork is fucking great. 1 3-4 ounce boneless pork chop has 24g of protein. There is no negative to eating pork.

Living increases your risk of cancer too.

Oh shit, guess what study you're talking about? Yeah, that's right, it was a survey not of people who ate healthy diets incorporating red meats, but fat fucks who consider red meats a double cheeseburger with the works.

Megafail.

White fish, chicken and beef are regulars on my plate.

I don't really eat Beef. I occasionally have Beef with Stir-Fry's loaded with Vegetables, but I mostly stick with Chicken and sometimes Pork.

I also substitute ground turkey or ground chicken in place of beef. I wouldn't recommend eating it every day, but I wouldn't say to stop completely.

Can't live without it.

Nice. You've got me beat. I usually have several packs of deer sausage or backstrap in my freezer, but never a whole freezer full.

I love deer meat cause it's so lean and also because I don't have to worry about it having any hormones in it like so much beef nowadays does.
>> Anonymous
>>60656

agreed, it tastes good and is way healthier for you.

I generally cut the backstraps up myself and make deer jerky from them. OOH soooo good.
I send the rest to a processor though to make sausage, burger, etc.
>> Anonymous
>>60675

Sounds absofuckinlutely delicious.
>> Anonymous
>>60679

It's easy, cut the backstraps into thin strips with an electric knife, and marinade them in a mixture of: 1 bottle worcesterchire, 2 small bottles of liquid smoke, 1/2 bottle soy sauce, 3/4 cup brown sugar (plus whatever else you might like, I sometimes add tabasco to make it hotter, or teryaki sauce for more flavor). let it marinade overnight, lay the strips out on a dehydrator and sprinkle course ground black pepper on them. Let them dehydrate for an average of 8 hrs.

Try it, you'll love it.

Back in the 90s, pork started to sell less because of the public's newfound knowledge of lean poultry

So through the 90s, hog breeders worked on getting leaner pork, and now it's a very healthy meat, ESPECIALLY PORK TENDERLOIN

if you eat ground beef, fuck you you're a dumbass eating tons of fat; filet? fat; ribeye? FAT

the only healthy POPULAR cut of beef is sirloin

I'm a beef\chicken\man.

I think it's quite healthy to have a serving or two of meat a day, unfortunately it's a bit costly.

>>61071
So you prefer beef, chicken or man? I'm not a fellow man eater, so could you please explain how man stacks up against beef health wise?
>> Anonymous
>>61662
I'm not>>61071but it depends on what area your man comes from.
Around here, my fellow Americans are a bit too chubby for my tastes, I get some good man from my local dealer but he refuses to give me the source of it. I have growing suspicion that it might not be man meat. :( Only time will tell, I'll find out one day!

On a real note. I LOVE STEAK.

I love meat. Much like everything else mother nature has given us, it can be prepared in a bland, boring fashion, OR can be prepared simply and perfectly to create a psyche-enhancing treat as well as an essential source of fats and proteins!

GOD BLESS MEAT.
