Hoy, /fit/I have bad posture. I always hunch or slouch when I'm sitting and when I stand sometimes I look like Daniel Plainview. I'm 25 but I'm concerned that by the time I'm 60 I'll have a hunchback. Is there any kind of exercise I can do to make my back straighter?I sleep on the shittiest Ikea mattress, but can't afford a new one. I have a good pillow that's pretty firm.Hmmm, what should I do.
Sleep on the floor. No, really. Straightens your back. Also, brace your hands at about chest-height in doorways, and press your chest forward. Tilt your head back as far as you can.Etc. etc. etc.
oh yeah, should I be sleeping on my back? This is hard for me, I usually sleep on my stomach.
I would recommend sleeping on your back without a pillow. Its weird at first but your back will thank you
Back bends and deadlifts. Use your hands as a fulcrum on your lower back and do three or four deep back bends while coordinating your breathing with it before and after exercise to make sure your spinal alignment is good. Just do it through the day and if you deadlift your spinal erectors will get the message and hold ya a bit tighter (you can kind of control your posture better). Don't excessively lean back with deadlifts though, it's not beneficial.
