I was always a skinny girl even though I ate lots of white bread and red meat. But I was always lethargic and sickly as well.
I cut out grains (with the exception of delicious pasta once a week) and limit red meat/dairy and I feel AMAZING. I have energy out the yin yang. But now I'm losing weight ridiculously fast. In a few weeks I went from a steady 95 to >85! How can I gain weight without changing my new diet? Durr, EAT MOAR. But what?
Also is it better to consume several large meals or mutiple small ones? Would late night eating help?

eat more peanut butter, nuts, fatty fish, other highly caloric sources of healthy fat, maybe some lentils or something too...

you seem to have a pretty good handle on how your body responds to changing nutrition, but you could always start by adding a handful of mixed nuts every day.

portion control i've heard suggested is that you should never have to eat anything more than the size of your hand.

as far as multiple meals, the six-meal thing is to keep your metabolism going. your body needs energy to digest food, and splitting up your three meals into smaller portions divided six times a day (aprox. 3 to 2 hours inbetween meals) boosts your metabolism.

I have no idea how that would help with gaining weight, have you made sure you're eating enough protein? All you really need to do is make sure you're eating enough, and a healthy diet. i.e. your carbs, healthy fats, proteins, etc.

also, why do none of the women of /fit/ ever post pictures of themselves damnit!

wow, i'm truly impressed at the genuine help i'm getting. i'm pretty sure about the protein. i'm trying to add in yogurt and chicken.

as for pics, obviously i'm really a male pedophile like everyone else on here. or don't think my bony hips are all that appealing. heh.

you also may have had a gluten allergy which would keep you feeling sick from eating the bread.

to gain, will you eat fatty fish? pork? darker chicken cuts (leg meat)? and seconding increasing your intake of nuts and beans.

i've never had any serious reaction to bread but rice does make my skin break out.

fish and chicken yes. not a big fan of pork. i do love pumpkin seeds. and i thought about trying sunflower seed butter since it has about the fat as peanut butter but none of those nasty hydrogenated oils. would seeds have simliar benefits to nuts?

for the porteins try eating tuna fish, its extremely high in protein and low in fat, try to get the white albacore tho, the other kinda have a much higher mercury level.
