How long is the optimum amount of time doing HIIT? I read online that 12-18 minutes is about perfect, but what does /fit/ think?

A YEAR

isn't 12-18 minute just long enough to burn the glucowhatever stored in the muscles yet short enough to not burn any fat stored in the body?

I've read anywhere from 10-20. I guess it depends how hard you push it and if you're a beginner / expert. Right now I'm doing 20 minutes, but I have asthma and I just started. I'm doing the HIIT routine that was at 7chan.

Umm, here's a website I found though just by googling "high intensity interval training".

It's HIIT.

If you can actually get past 12 - 15 minutes, then you aren't doing it properly and aren't pushing yourself hard enough.

After 10 minutes you should be wanting to throw up, after 12, you should be wanting to curl up and die.

He speaks truth.

I did HIIT this morning and I didn't think I could move afterwards. Dx

I just did (read: attempted) HIIT for the first time ever. I don't have access to any real equipment, and the only shoes I have on me at the moment are sandals, so I couldn't really run. As a warm up, I just jogged in place for about 2-4 minutes, and then for lack of any other idea, I just jumped straight up and down as high as I could 30 times, jogged for about a minute, repeat. I could only do it 4 times. Am I doing it right, or am I a complete fool.

Why do people overexaggerate all the time?

you're doing it wrong if you don't agree

I agree 10 mins is hard, but i have been doing moderate cardio for 45 mins every day for the past 4 months, i started HIIT and the first few times i felt like shit after it, but now, even though it is hard as hell i like doing it. I'll try increasing overall resistance a few tabs and do it again, but i have been pushing myself to the limit so far.

you are an idiot.

I thought you only did HIIT for around 10 minutes or less.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that for running, you jog for 4 minutes to warm up, then you sprint 20, rest 20, sprint 20, rest 20, sprint 20, rest 20 seconds and then jog again for 4 minutes to cooldown ending with 10 minutes?

I did this and I'm tired, but that's because I recently started get back into shape.

On my off HIIT days, I run for 30 minutes, stopping only when I want to throw up.

Personally, my HIIT is like this:

Four minutes jogging
Four minutes straight out sprinting
Four minutes jogging
Four minutes straight out sprinting.

By the end of it, I listen to Lil Wayne's song "I feel like dying" because it truly emulates how I feel after that grueling workout. I can't even get out of bed for a few hours after that shit.

I can barely do the sprint for 20 three times, wow! You're awesome!

I seriously doubt anybody on the planet could sprint as fast as possible for four minutes more than once.

How many miles do you cover in a 4 minute SPRINT?
>> Anonymous
>>163062

Wait, wait. Hold on. I don't know how many 'miles' I run; in fact, I doubt I run any fucking miles. I just go batshit crazy running for four minutes and then jog for four minutes while heaving like I'm about to die. Sometimes, I even walk if it's too harsh for my body to take it.

By the way, I wasn't trying to sound like some amazing e-thug who can bench press like 500 lbs and squat double that. There's no point in bragging or making up facetious lies on an anonymous board. Sorry for the confusion, if there was any to begin with.

Not including a total of 8 minutes warming up and cooling down, I HIIT sprints for 14 minutes at 2 minute intervals.

i guess im taking "sprint" too literal for HIIT

lift weights and then do HIIT

weightlifting gets your glycogen gone, then HIIT just burns fat

also research has shown that HIIT maintains your fat burning for up to 48 hours under certain conditions
