Hey mis/fit/s. How good is milk for people on a diet?

Nobody?

Milk is not really all that good for you. many nutrionists have told me milk is worthless. Just take calcium pills.

Remember all the "got milk?" commercials? Big business pays a lot of money to make you think milk is the shit, in reality its not all that good for you.

Whole milk is probably not a good idea, but skim milk with a meal is probably about the same as a diet soda or something. Just drink it if you feel like it, a single food item probably isn't gonna have a drastic effect on a diet plan unless it's one chocolate cake a day.

But I could just be getting tired of the milk threads

Its actually not bad, assuming you're not lactose intolerant. IIRC its a fairly decent source of certain kinds of protein, I just can't remember it off the top of my head.

Complex animal proteins. Combined with shredded wheat cereal and used in place of water in oatmeal, it gives you a fairly nice source of good, cheap, complete proteins.

Skim milk is the best for people on a diet. Don't listen to those like>>8543because as long as you keep it in moderation and count your calories, milk is good for you. Better than soda or sugared up fruit juices.

Yes, i you are right. I didn't realize he said "on a diet". If you love milk and cant live without it skim is fine. But since skim milk is more or less water and tasteless to me I'd rather splurge on one glass of whole.

My point was this:

With all the antibiotics and preservatives put in your standard milk I garuntee you that the enzymes you are referring too have died off or become nearly useless by the time they make it to Walmart or wherever. Fresh milk is probably not bad for you, non-pasteurized organic milk is probably not bad for you (all in moderation) but the "got milk" bullshit they show on TV is not good for you. It's like wonder bread, it just LOOKS and TASTES like milk. Its not what you see in scientific studies, like...pure fresh milk. I have had 2 nutritionists tell me the same thing.

Is this limited to cow's milk? Soy, goat etc have the same?

Soy milk is a pretty good compromise if you like milk, but trust me. Not speaking "diet" wise, but simply nutritional wise...dairy is not good for you. Why do you think only humans drink the milk from other species?

Milk is useless, expensive, gets wasted because your body doesn't absorb most of it.

Eggs are cheap they can be used anytime anywhere, they don't go bad.

Whey protein is comparable to eggs, its fast absorbing and good after workouts. i get mine from 1fast400.com or trueprotein.com
