Hey mis/fit/s,

I always found running boring when I had to do it in high school P.E. but then again, I wasn't allowed to listen to music while I did laps. I'm considering running regularly to keep fit now but I've heard warnings against doing so because the impact will supposedly fuck up my knees later in life. Do you guys call bullshit or would I be better off just buying an elliptical trainer or something?

Don't listen to the above poster. Lots of people run several miles a day with no problem. Get a good pair of shoes and work your way up. If you're overweight now, you will fuck up your knees, so get down to a good weight and then start (eat right and use low impact exercises like biking or elliptical). If you get bored easily, try HIIT training (google it) which will burn a lot of calories and give you a good workout, but takes only about 20 minutes.

yeah. some people shouldn't run. i've read a lot of stuff lately that you have to be fit to run, not run to get fit.

but if you're healthy anyway, get good shoes and go. try to minimise time on pavement though, i like dirt tracks or hills.

That is a lot to run. Professional runners will beat themselves up for years and years and have lots of health problems down the line, but people who run three miles a day tend to be fine.

not OP here, but i weigh about 240 and weight train everyday. i can only run just over a mile or about 15 minutes in a day without gassing. i only have access to a treadmill with the setting fat loss, aerobic, and performance. so should i just use the fat loss setting for a much longer time or keep jogging for 15 minutes a day? the fat loss basically has me walking at a somewhat fat pace.

my opinion is always and ever lift weights for serious fat loss. i am the broken record.

also reduce starch intake.
