Hello /fit/, I have a question...how many calories should i take in a day to loose weight? I'm talking about the weight on your thighs and love handles and lower stomach. The usual question, sorry if this is a repeat as I assume that it would be. But noone has ever told me how many calories people should take in a day.

Find RMR, add in daily activities, subtract 500 calories.

you should go to bodybuilding.com, surf the articles there...there's quite a few ways to calculate your expenditure, dependent upon how anal you wish to be with your diet.

also, you cannot spot-reduce. your body will lose fat where it wants to (aka where your genetics put it).

You are probably overweight anyway, so anything around 1800sih would suffice.

And train with weights. Its sad to slap a butt that its all flab and no mussle

First of all, find out how many calories you eat NOW. Then shave off 200 or so calories from your diet, like 1 less soda (well you shouldn't drink them at all), or that bag of chips you were planning to slam dunk.
