Getting /fit/ to serve... Anonymous
Ladies, gentlemen, and trannys of /fit/...

I, after much thought and consideration, have decided to serve my country in the United States Air Force.

I'm a bit out of shape, so heres the thing - I eat healthy, I work out regularly, I'm just having problems knocking out the right amount of push ups, etc. in the allotted time. (For the record, I run the 1.5 mile just fine.)

So yeah, is this just something I need to do repeatedly to get down?

Thanks. Also, please reserve CHAIR FORCE jokes. Pic unrelated...or is it???

What's the pushup requirement for the Air Force anyway? Just curious.

45 in a minute, I know, I know, I fuckin' suck. I just hate push ups, so I've never really done many.

Do more push ups in order to raise your push up limit. That's pretty much all there is to it.

No worries, wasn't that long ago I couldn't pop out more than 25 >_<

Honestly, how many are you at now in a minute? You'll probably be just fine if you keep practicing, trying to up your number each time.

Let me check.

I knocked out 25 in 50 seconds, I've been doing a couple sets of 20-25 beforehand, basically until my body says "Fuck off asshole" and I can't do anymore. Guess I'll just keep practicing.

I'm in the Air Force myself. BMT wasn't that physically demanding when I went through back in June 2006, but since October 2007 they've upped it from 6.5 to 8.5 weeks and started focusing on the physical aspects a LOT more.

You'll be fine. It sounds to me like you just haven't been doing enough of them to get better as of yet.

Chair force?

OP here.

8.5 huh? Guess the Chair Force jokes got a little old...

Actually, thats kind of cool, I don't really mind the idea of tons of physical training, I just want to make sure I'm prepared for it.

just do as many as you can one day, then later that day do the same amount.. then the next day do the same thing, but plus one.. then continue:

ie.
first day 35 35
second day 36 36
third 37 37

and don't give up, keep pushing it

i just did 45 in 40seconds, i'm a pretty small/weak guy.. (try and lean more on your legs and not your arms ;) )

And whatever you do, don't let a recruiter talk you into "open general"; you'll pretty much be guaranteed security forces (lol cops). Hold out for whatever job you want.

Haha, funny, I actually was considering law enforcement in the future, like a detective or something. Kind of my passion.

remember to breathe regularly, out on the way down and in on the way up or vice versa, just remember to breathe

Closest thing to a detective would be OSI, which I think would require you to be a regular MP first. Whatever floats your boat.

Funny...I'm in a similar situation...but opposite.

Need to pass the physical reqs to be FBI special agent, I'm great on the pushups/situps but need to get to work on the 1.5 mile and sprint =O

Op here again.

Thanks for the advice guys, I really hope this board sticks around, and to the FBI guy - Hey man, kudos for tryin' to get in! Best of luck to you.

Am I the only one ROFL at the fact that a guy who wants to become a detective and another guy who wants to become an FBI agent are posting on 4chan?

I'd say the best thing to do is....

do a barrel role,

and enjoy the United States Government pwning ur life from now to eternity. Unless future back door drafts and undeniable re-enlistments are things ur cool with. ADVICE: don't join the military it's the most stupid mistake anybody can make. Ur signing your life away, even if it's just the air force.

FLEE TO CANADA

Do knee push ups after your body does that. Do it as fast as you can. Build up the endurance. Grab ten pound dumbbells after that and do it until you get tired. Then go to fives. Keep the motion going.

It's a good workout plan for anyone joining the military; even the Navy SEALS recommend it to everyone preparing to join.
