Hi /fit/. I'm trying to lose weight and I'm a little bit confused. People say to cut calories and exercise more (running, biking, hiking, etc.) to lose weight. I've also heard it's a good idea to do some strength training as muscles burn more fat than....fat. Anyways, I've been doing a little bit of both but I just wanted to know, am I wasting my time and energy on strength training if my primary goal is to lose weight?

he's talking about doing strength training in addition to cardio. Learn to read.

You might not lose weight depending on how you do your diet, but your fat/muscle ratio will start to alter. One way or the other you're going to lose weight.

And for christ's sakes, run a bit. Yes, it only burns calories, but it also helps with your legs and being fit rather than just a bulky bugger is something to aspire to.

So cardio is the best way to go to burn fat off?

If I do a little weight lifting it can only have a positive effect, correct?
