As someone who has successfully gone through the transition you're hoping for in the last 4 years, here's my advice:
First 6-9 months do a 3-split (e.g. mondays triceps+chest, wednesdays legs+shoulders and fridays back+biceps). After this period switch to a 2x2 split (2-split twice per week).
Make sure you eat A LOT of food, you shouldn't be afraid to get a little bit of belly in the start. You can always shed that off after you've gotten closer to your goal. Also look into supplements like ZMA and creatine.
