Ok /fit/ I need advice on alcohol.

I've been a beer drinker for about 4 or 5 years now. The environment I live in, and the social status I've got is that I get invited to quite a few parties, not every week, but about 3-4 a month maybe. And I drink at those parties because it's boring otherwise. But seeing as how summer is coming up, my gut has also caught up on me. I intend to lose it ASAP, but I still want to go to these parties.

Whats a good drink that doesn't make you fat?

It's going to sound like shit, but all alcohol is pretty much shit for losing weight. Alcohol is very, very calorie dense. Very dense. This goes up exponentially when you start adding sugary and starchy liquids. This also isn't mentioning the fact that alcohol really hinders with training and sets back your progress.

If you want to lose weight, but still drink, the best option, and it's still no good, is clear spirits (Vodka, Gin, Rum) with mineral/tonic waters or maybe juices. It's alot better than beer or softdrink mixes, but it still isn't good if you're trying to lose weight.

tl;dr : Don't drink, or drink clear spirits in non sugary mixes.

Op here: No I know this sounds really stupid. Obviously I'm doing exercise, eating healthily and drinking fuck loads of water (apart from freshly squeezed orange juice in the mornings thats all I drink). But beers my biggest let-down. I'm from UK, so we don't have "light beers" or anything like that. Please help me ;_;

So if I was to mix Vodka with fruit juice then I'de be alright? Or well, not alright but better than Beer?

Are you an alcoholic? If not, then you can completely cut out alcohol from your diet. Apart from being calorie dense said above, it just fucks around with your body and liver, not something you need when trying to lose weight.

The easiest option is just dont drink at all.

Yes, vodka and fruit juice is better than beer. Although fruit juice contains a fuckload of sugar, almost as much as soft drink.

Vodka + mineral water is alot better. Alot. Get that diet flavoured shit. There's like 2g of sugar in a litre, it tastes fine, and you'll get tanked enough to handle social situations, which is what every good 4channer needs.

Or you might go hardcore and leave the vodka and mix mineral water with mineral water.
Purists swear on the taste.

alcohol is pure energy, it'll make you fat. Why do you think it burns so great?

There's no problem if you burn the fuel off.
Just a question of how much you consume and how much you do cardio.

I quit drinking every weekend and it was the best decision of my life. I lost like 10 lbs, my joints don't hurt anymore, and my totals have improved in all aspects of weightlifting and running. I still drink, but only just a little. That's awesome too, because I now need to spend less to get buzzed.

my advice is stop drinking totally for the first ~2 months or so. to maintain your "social status" or w/e just stop by the parties and don't stay if it means you have to have a drink. 2 months isn't going to kill you, after that your routine should be good enough that drinking hard a few times a month won't fuck you up

alcohol slows down your metabolism, so the more you drink the more you need to exercise

Actually I think it ups your metabolism, but only a little.

But then beer has a fuckload of empty calories anyway.

alcohol prevents fat burning and is full of hundreds of calories so in no shape and form it ups metabolism.
