Dear /fit/,

As you can see in the attached photo (crappy cell phone camera is crappy), I have a serious problem with my legs.
Namely, my calves swell to almost rival the size of my thighs. This happens mostly at night, when I am sitting down after a day of walking around, normal activity etc. Sometimes the swelling moves up to my knees, and it feels like something is trying to lever my kneecaps off.

At 172cm and 70kg, I admit I am fat. I am on a long-term hormornal contraceptive, so telling me to lose it is NOT going to be effective or realistic. I'm 20. I'm nowhere near "old" enough to be having this kind of problem.

All doctors I've visited have said "i dunno lol". What should I do? It gets painful, so painful that I sometimes wish I could cut them open to release the pressure.

That's silly, I can't even do a full squat because they've swelled up so much, I can practically bounce myself on them.

Looks like some kind of fluid buildup and i only though it happened to old people..

It could possibly be water retention. It may be a side effect of the contraceptive. Has the contraceptive affected your menstrual cycle at all? Did the swelling begin when your began the contraceptive?

Bouncing out of the hole is cheating, noob.

While the contraceptive has affected my menstrual cycle, I've been getting them on and off over the past few years. It has never been this persistent or this bad though.

You may want to ask your doctor about any relation of the contraceptive and the swelling. If he's reluctant about linking the two (especially if he recommended that form of conctraception), then I suggest you seek a second opinion.

OK, I'm no doctor and I don't mean to alarm you, but I think there is a slight chance this might be some kind of thrombosis.

Check wikipedia or something and see if your symptoms fit. Chances are slight, especially at your age, but it's possible.

Oh, and I linked this with thrombosis because (wikipedia truefax): "The most common risk factors are recent surgery or hospitalization. 40% of these patients did not receive heparin prophylaxis. Other risk factors include advanced age, _obesity_, infection, immobilization, female sex, _use of combined (estrogen-containing) forms of hormonal contraception_, tobacco usage and air travel ("economy class syndrome", a combination of immobility and relative dehydration) are some of the better-known causes. Thrombophilia (tendency to develop thrombosis) often expresses itself with recurrent thromboses."

Keep us updated.

BTW, the quote comes from the article on DVT (deep vein thrombosis), and I meant to emphasize "obesity" and "use of combined (estrogen-containing) forms of hormonal contraception".

I lol'd.

Maybe try washing them with cold water or putting cold/icy bandages on them? Dunno... I'm only advising that because you say doctors dismiss you but I really think you should seek out someone who will look into it with more thought.

you should stop trying to fix your problems with food. You can't eat your troubles away fatty.

also, put your feet up now and then. Duh.

Diabetes might be the cause, it happens to my father who is borderline diabetic, you might want to find a decent doctor who will check that out, and get your blood-sugar levels tested.

Blood sugar levels are normal, so is blood pressure, heart rate. Like I said, the docs checked for the normal shit then turned around and said "lol i dunno".

Are you fucking retarded or something? Who the fuck wants to elevate their legs every fucking night for the rest of eternity?

Also, the ideal weight for my height is 65kg. at 5kg extra, i didn't even go up a dress size. And again, didn't read my fucking post? Telling me to lose 5kg is not going to be effective or realistic, that's just sitting there being unnecessarily catty and mysogynistic.

this. post more feet pics. and tits.

Swelling in the legs can be caused by heart problems, like the blood isn't getting pumped back up by the end of the day. Did you get checked out for that?
