hi /fit/. I am going to be changing my life for good now. I'm 6'3" and probably about ~370lbs. I've had a talk with family and friends and all are very supportive of me going for my weight loss. I need to do this for myself and take back control of my life.

I used to play football back in highschool and I'm used to that physical wear when you are pushed. I just am unsure at this point if I should be pushing myself hard considering my current weight. I'm looking to be eating about ~2200 cal intake a day when starting. Will also be pushing myself to work out/excercise 5 times a week. I'll be starting with free weights(mon, wed, fri) and just walking every day starting at about 30min and ramping up as my weight comes off.

My only thing I'm concerned about is during the weight loss period - the skin. I want to loose weight at a increased but healthy rate/pace without having tons of excess skin when I get to my goal. I'm going to assume its inevitable that I will most definetly have excess skin left over just due to my size. Is there anything that I can possibly do to reduce the amount I may have when I'm loosing?

Thanks for the support

To prevent SAGGY skin you have to be patient. Saggy skin usually comes from idiots who rush their weight loss and it confuses the body preventing it from getting used to your shape change. Average fat loss should be about 1 to 2 pounds per week. Congrats on discovering how disgusting you are. Keep your will up and post on /fit/ for encouragement/advice.

I'd say probably not, unfortunately.

Good luck man, you seem to have a good plan.

the excess skin will go away with time. Good luck and godspeed.

consider weight training over cardio so you can tone out your fat into muscle instead of losing everything. At least you won't need to worry as much as the skin stretching problem.

you would be exercising for the rest of ur life to get ride of ur man-boobs.

Skin is very highly adaptable. Loose skin goes away shortly after weight loss.

This anon is right. Losing weight too fast doesn't give your skin time to adapt INITIALLY, but it will play catch up within a few months or so. Don't underestimate the human body. If pregnant women can gain fucking 50+ pounds in 9 months and then drop it all off quickly and avoid loose skin, I'm sure you can too.

It's like I told another poster earlier today who had a similar question. HIT YOUR GOAL FIRST. Once you hit your goal, then you can ascertain the state of your skin. If your skin is saggy, give it up to a year to adapt. If it's fucked up after a year, surgery can become an option (if it's really bad, you can tell insurance it is causing rashes and shit and they should cover it as a legitimate health concern).

But, really, worry about this in the future. Get healthy in the meantime.

I don't know why people need the support of their friends.

In all honesty if you wanted to loose weight, you'd just 'do it' and not put it of by talking to your friends/family about it.

Thats how i work anyway :P, just do it, less time on /fit/ imo.

Monday, Wednesday & Friday you will lift heavy, and on a 5x5 program. I recommend the Texas Method, or Starr's program.

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday you will walk, and when you can walk you will run, and when you can run, you will sprint. Every time you do cardio, try to do 5 minutes more than last time.

You will eat whole foods, with a balanced diet. No more than 2500 calories a day.

The only thing you are allowed to drink from this moment on is WATER.

If you follow this, in 6 months you will be in incredible shape. Remember, you've got to have discipline and fucking persistence to do it. Don't do it for 2 months, and start eating like shit again.

Seme chick had the same goal as you, go read her thread because some guy gave her a great plan to get with:

Maybe even post in there instead. YOU GUYS COULD BE BUDDIES!

I used to be like you, diets and shit never helped though. You just gotta face that your your always gonna weigh allot, but you don't have to be fat. Go for body building. Fuck all the aerobic shit, turn that fat into muscle. It worked for me. in 5 months of weight lifting i had fucking guns! I still had the belly ( and still do admittedly ) but i look and feel so much better. And on top of that none picks on me anymore cause i'm a fucking brute.

Listen to this. You two could even hook up and have fat sex together, then maybe your fat spem could reach her fat ovaries and you two could breed fat babies.

dont lisnen to this guy, well not entirely

anyone can get rid of as much body fat as they want, though you should really take it easy at first

the pounds WILL fucking fall off but you really need to remember that it is a LONG process long long long long, in a year you could seriously be looking 100% better and hell, even in half a year people will be like "zomg you look like a new person!!", a year will be 2x that because you literally will be a new person with all that fat gone

just keep your eating clean and waterwaterwaterwaterwaterwaterskimmilkwaterwaterwater1%milkwaterwaterwater

and you are gold. 1 cheat meal a week is necessary too or else you will binge at some point, we are human and you are no exception to this. dont think you can be so strict and so perfect you can out do other fatties trying to lose weight

as long as you keep your goal in mind constantly theres nothing that's gonna stop you, sounds cheesy and shit but it's true. just lurk /fit/, ALOT and bodybuilding.com, the picture selection is a great motivator. ppl pop up right and left with their fat to fit stories and it is really inspiring

good luck sir, and if you arent completely educated about nutrition now then I highly suggest you do it, don't pussy it with low carb shit or atkins diet or whatever

if you are gonna be realistic with your weight loss and skin loss you need to be realistic with your nutrition, just eat clean(lean food, alot of greens)

Saggy skin comes from ridiculous weight loss at a ridiculous pace (think gastric bypass, eating some absurd diet of just beans or some shit, etc.). With your plan, which includes a great starting point for calories and a perfect exercise plan for you, you shouldn't have to worry about it. Just don't even consider it. If it does happen, deal with it at the time with exercise and plateauing for awhile, but right now, don't even consider it, because you're not on a path to lead you there.

That said, good luck OP! One thing you could do that would help is make a list of all the foods that you enjoy first, and is healthy for you second. Having a list to fall back on might give you an idea that you hadn't thought of and lets you see all the great food you still get to have. For example, I forgot how much I love fried rice, but it's not hard to make brown rice, eggs, and some veggies... it's healthy. I've divided up my day several ways, knowing how to deal with whatever situation. Make sure that you can cope and deal with changes or surprises, and if you need an off day, then don't be afraid to take it. Find things that you can look at that can MOTIVATE you. Pictures, whatever. And again, good luck.

No seriously, some professional health dude or some shit posted in her thread, gave some great tips on what to start out with and what kind of exercise you should do for your weight.

I'm gonna take that dudes advice myself, I'm not near as fat as these bastards but I'm still a bit chunky, and his plan sounded good.

Not really... He's still like a skeleton next to Fatman.
