Milk powder for protein? Anonymous
hey /fit/,

I heard that milk powder can be an alright substitute for protein powder. I really don't feel like forking out unecessary moneys when I already have access to plenty of full cream milk powder at home.

How much benefit (if any) will i get for making shakes and adding milk powder?

More calories, more protein. It's what bodybuilders used back before protein shakes.

The reason they use protein powder now is because it has less (amongst other things) calories?
If that's the case, then it sounds like a great alternative as i'm also trying to increase my cal intake.

it is a perfectly viable substitute, and contains exactly the same proteins. it also still contains lactose, which is a carbohydrate, hence the comment about calories by another anon. and fat, which is not a bad thing. unless you are morbidly obese. then you shouldn't be eating anything, so die.

i used to mix it with liquid whole milk and cocoa powder, shit was so cash. it also induced temporary allergies, make me fell ill and full of mucous. ymmv.

you're welcome. be a smart anon and read the back of the bag, then you will know what proportions to mix in order to get enough protein.

if you become allergic like i did, start cycling it. you'll have to work out the details on that one.

This is easily one of the most excellent tips I've read in a long while. Thankyou anon. I was struggling to increase my intake on my crappy budget and now I have a use for the heaps of powdered milk I have laying around.
