Is drinking even diet soda bad for weight loss, /fit/?
>> Anonymous
in the short run it is, but eventually you get cancer...

coke zero is what I drink when water is not available. But yeah, I'll probably get cancer.

everything gives you cancer according to science. if you don't die of cancer its just because you died too soon.

Of course, it's a hell of a lot better than a normal soft drink. Water is always the best, though.

OP here,

I've read that it's still bad for weight loss, despite the very low calorie content (or content of anything except tooth-melting acids).

Any back up/knock down on that?

I cannot confirm it in any way, but I hear that the sweet taste will make the body prepare for calorie intake, but obviously the body never gets these calories, since it's just diet soda. As a result, your body will hunger for these calories it expected to get, meaning you'll eventually find other calories to make up for it.

The verdict is still out on diet sodas (in the medical communities). Some studies show people actually gain weight while drinking them. But scientists really don't know the cause yet. What does that mean? If you are really concerned about your health, don't drink them. It's as simple as that.

But I know there will be fuckers out there that will try to talk around and justify why they should be able to drink diet soda. Fine, drink the swill. But don't come to this board when the answer is so obvious.

It's because diet soda doesn't have real sugar, which sends signals to your brain saying "I'm full.".

So, you still want to eat.

Also, ordering an XL Diet Coke with your Big Mac won't help anything.

Maybe, but there aren't any medical studies that prove this or any other theory yet. But there might be a chance that it could be bad for you. On top of that, it tastes like shit. My arguement is to stay away from it altogether, drink water, and the occasional tea or coffee instead.

The once-in-a-while soda isn't bad for you, but the problem is that we don't drink in once in a while. We drink it in droves. 44oz fucking buckets. And free refills.
