Why do doctors recommend exercise and workouts be temporarily delayed when one is sick?
Because your body needs rest to fight the pathogens, and any exercise you do engage in is just going to be weak and unproductive on top of making your recovery time longer.

I remember I had a cold/flu and I felt like shit but I still went to work out. I started sweating like a bitch and afterwards I felt better. It's like I got rid of my fever and everything. The next day, I was worse. Don't work out. Stay in bed and eat and drink water and get some sleep.

only got two colds this winter, but both times i went to the gym and hit the cardio in full sweats for an hour.. iunno, got over both of the colds within two-three days. i think it works.
