Hey there /fit/,

I'm a gril about 5'7" and around 185. I recently decided that I need to shed some pounds if I ever want to be happy with myself.

I've started eating generally healthier. No fast food, and smaller portions. My mom does Jenny Craig and I try to sneak her meals whenever I can in place of something I shouldn't be eating.

I've also started jogging around half a mile a day, and then doing a half mile cool down walk. After which I do as many sit ups as I can. (I'm currently around 30.) I've never been a big exercise person, so this much is quite the achievement for me.

Mostly I'm just looking for validation. Is this a healthy program? Am I missing something vital that could help me tons? Any suggestions or tips to help a girl out?

Apologies in advance if this is the kind of post you hate. I just shuffled in from /co/.

Do crunches instead of sit ups.

im not gonna write out a essay but I will give you 1 piece of vital information

eating less is important but by that it means eat less portion wise and eat less overall, but you need to eat ever 2 1/2 to 3 hours to keep your metabolism going. if youre one of those girls thats like hehehehehehhehe im gonna have ONE SALAD FOR THE WHOLE DAY AND LOSE SO MUCH WEIGHT, sorry but it absolutely positively doesnt work that way. you should be eating so frequently that you arent really ever hungry, just keep it clean(healthy) and dont eat 8 chicken breasts in 1 sitting

>you need to eat ever 2 1/2 to 3 hours to keep your metabolism going
This is bullshit. It might help you to keep from getting hungry though.

Slim Fast, check for the one that has 20g protein. Drink two of those a day. The chocolate ones are actually pretty good.
Lots of fish.
Take a multivitamin.
No fried food.
Stop putting condiments on things.
Add swimming to your list and take up cycling. They're both fun instead of just work.
Don't eat four hours before you go to bed.
Water, loose leaf tea, homebrewed coffee, and 100% juice (besides cranberry, which is always a mixture) ONLY.
Don't completely deny yourself things, when you are really craving something write it down and treat yourself to a small guilty pleasure once every two weeks or a month.

Listen, I'll quote Venuto because he seems to be such a favorite around here: "What you wont hear me say is that 6 meals increases metabolism or weight loss over 3 meals at an equal caloric intake." Now shush.

Sounds ok, but lift weights as well too. Don't worry, you won't get bulky or anything.

Your first problem is you're a gril.

More /co/ support here. Now get to work fatty.

Seriously:

1. No need to jog. At your current state, you should be walking 2+ miles (jogging if you can manage it) a day.
2. NO FAST FOOD. MINIMALIZE STARCHES/CARBS, NO SNACKS, NO FRIED FOOD, NO DAIRY (other than skim milk and cottage cheese), NO SODA/JUICE.

Do this for however long you can and note that healthy weight loss is ~2lbs/wk. Anything over that means you're losing water, bone, or muscle, which just means you're gonna gain it back later or get sick. Perseverence is the most important ingredient.

some weight?

Try a lot of weight (at least 65lbs).

Stop doing crunches (30 does nothing at all, and your abs will never show under that huge wad of fat anyway).

Start running with high intensity. You're not meant to like it or enjoy it. If you are enjoying it then you're not pushing yourself hard enough. Consistent high intensity exerise and controlled eating is how you will lose the weight.

>(at least 65lbs)

lol, right, a 5'7 girl needs to be 120 to be healthy?

Be more obviously stupid and male, please.

Wut? She's fat but not that fat. Jogging a few miles a day won't do any harm. The easiest, cheapest, and least time consuming way to lose weight is to eat less. That's all that is required. I wonder if you can actually do it since you seem to be from one of those ignorant glutenous families. I hope you have a realistic idea of what a normal portion of food is.

even moreso a balanced diet is important. I've worked as a grocery store cashier before, and I notice the fat people always buy the shitty food or especially pre-made food.

Be more obviously disillusioned about your own weight problem. A 5'7" girl shouldn't weight more than 120lbs. Over 120lbs and she's fat.

She hides her big fat arse in that pic but she can't hide it from me. Start running fatty.

Really? At 5'5" I was told by a Jenny Craig consultant if I were to weigh 130 I would only be skin and bones, so please chill out. I get that I'm a fatty but I am taking steps to try and prevent dying of heart failure at age 25.

Here's a full body, if you wanna see the fatass I'm hiding. I thought I was more chubby than lardo, but if I'm just disillusioned I'd rather hear it from /fit/ than people I actually know irl.

Weight and bodyfat % are two different things, ignore this "consultant", they are trying to rope you in. More to the point, smack your mother with a copy of tom venuto and tell her to stop halfassing it with this shitty "jenny craig" programme. Reading through burn the fat, feed the muscle will teach you more than any programme ever will, and more importantly perhaps it will give you an insight into how to raise your kids one day so they won't end up fatasses along with the vast majority of america.

Don't come to 4chan for advice on how you look, there's being blunt and then theres 4chan critique.

Fair enough, and I'll find some more on this tom venuto character you all speak so highly of.

I really wasn't trying to be catty, just looking for some honesty.
