/fit/, what are the affects of snapping your joints and shit? I'm talking like cracking your fingers, neck, back and all that shit

What exactly causes that noise, and how bad is it for you?
>> Anonymous
the noise is your joints releasing built-up nitrogen gas, it is not bad for you

Snapping your finger joints will wear out your tendons if you do it too often.
Snapping neck and beck is plain retarded.

They're pretty sore sometimes though and I can't really help it. My back and neck aren't though, I just do that out of habit.

Any way to remedy it? in b4 aspirin and arthiritis

squatz, and I'm not shitting you.
A strong back is the best remedy to back problems.
That's of course not recommended if you have serious back injury.

I used to crack my left pinky often and a couple of weeks ago I realized that the little bastard is somewhat crooked. I don't know if it is because of the knuckle cracking, though.

popping, cracking etc joints once in a while is OK. several times in a row is OK. continuously for 15-20 minutes is not. or using while using heavy weights lots is also not.

my chiropractic doc taught me that. i'm lucky i get coverage and was introduced to an awesome doc.

OP, read this in the Washington Post a while ago, the article said that regular joint cracking reduces strength by 25%. Lol, the scientist did the whole experiment on himself for 20 years as some sort of side project. He cracked his right dominant hand, but didn't for his left hand, and then did grip strength measurements.

Fuck. I crack each finger about 3 times in different joints. And I do this a lot. It's more of a habit, than anything.

How do I stop doing it?

I stopped cracking in public when I convinced myself girls find it disgusting. Or you can push the cracking sensation until you hurt yourself, that gets me to stop wanting to crack my joints for a while.

It seems preservation of self-esteem and possible injury to self are key.
