Try to eat more frequently during the day. If you want to burn fat, intensity is more important that time. You won't burn nearly as much going 2 mph as you will at 4 as you will at 6, etc. I recognize you are just starting out, but try upping the speed. The shit cooked for kids is usually complete shit, stick to vegies for your carbs and reduce your fat intake. Try to limit yourself to about 2500 calories a day for a start. Occasional bad food is no biggy, but try and limit it to once a month.
The big thing is intensity though. Intensity and don't overdo it. If you start too much too fast you're going to quit. Trust me, I used to way 325 and I've lost 65 pounds so far, and still losing. Intensity intensity intensity. But don't hurt yourself. Also, how many days a week do you work out? If you go three, do lifting then cardio. Don't do cardio lifting cardio. If you go 6 (shouldn't be going more than this) then do one day cardio, one day lifting, and take the 7th day as a rest day. There's no reason to work out more than an hour at a time.
