So I'm new to working out, and I need to know some basic things that everyone needs to know. I understand SQUATZ, fat is like a lake it drains equally and burn more than taken in, but what else is important? Food and workout? I'm at a complete loss at where to start.

Female, 5'10", 206lbs, I want to (obviously) lose weight. What should I do?

Pic unrelated.

you should first post a nude picture so we can properly judge your physique and offer insightful advice.

In order to get any type of response beyond, SQUATZ and LULZ fatty, you need to give way more info about your body composition (headless body shot is best), your GOALS, and your current capabilities.

The short and arguably stupid answer? Eat only when your body asks for it (stomach growling), and don't eat a lot when you do eat. Preferrably you'd be eating natural, protein rich foods with some EFAs in them (vegetable oils, nuts/nut oils, fish).

In addition to that, lift heavy and do HIIT on alternating days, with one or two days rest once a week.

With all due respect, this advice will do nothing to help this person.

Also, OP, you are BIG. Please indicate if you have always been fat, or if this is recent, and how long it took you to get there, and what was your "usual eating / exercise routine"

Yeah, I didn't feel like summarizing Tom Venuto's book.

My webcam currently isn't working. I'm going to get on fixing it now so I can post a picture.

It's been an all my life thing. I didn't just recently gain weight. I ate shit as a kid- McDonalds after daycare, eating more than I needed to. My usual eating habits were eating a small breakfast, usually whatever leftovers we had, lunch consisting of whatever food my school was serving that day, and dinner was usually something like chicken. I stress eat, though, so I would commonly eat more than I needed to.

Exercise: obviously, this is a beginners routine.

Get a pair of running shoes.

Running: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml build up to 5 k runs. Don't skip ahead, just follow the program. Even do it slower than recommended, ie build a “walking” routine first over two months.run Do this for 6 months until you can actually run 5ks. Mix up or replace with HIIT after you build a nice core.

Start a push up/chin up/sit up routine. Don't go 100% all out on anything. Always leave yourself with a little bit of energy or one more rep.

Always schedule days off for fun and no exercise to avoid burnout and plateaus. Schedule a week or two off every few months.

What's "clean" protein?

Sorry. When I say "clean protein" I mean for example, a skinless piece of chicken, as opposed to a marbled with fat, new york strip loin. A boiled egg, vs breaded chicken fingers, etc.

So basically a protein source that's not loaded with something unhealthy.

This (and the previous post) weren't from OP, by the way, just a curious onlooker.

I eat miso soup for breakfast -- I hear miso has protein. Good or bad?

I would say, it depends on your goals, and your current state of health.

I am currently doing IF or intermittent fasting, but then again, I am at a more advanced stage of health and fitness, so a nice small cup of miso soup for brekky sounds down right EXCESSIVE to me, since I am fasting 19 hours a day. That is the big point I am making in my posts about goals and evaluation. Now in the OPs case, I would not recommend a miso soup brekky because she will be hungry and miserable and fail. That is the problem and danger with generalized responses.

I should say that a miso soup breakfast would be all kinds of appropriate if your goal was to have an easily digestible and light breakfast, and that you were not overly thin (because you should have moar calories) or overly fat (because you will be miserable and fail).. I hope that answered your question.
