aight /fit, it's ab time.

24/m, 170-175lbs, 6'1

I am in great shape, both muscularly and cardiovascularly.

my abs are crazy strong, and I mean CRAZY. you name a ab excersise, and I've done it to death. Oblique machine...maxed out, cable crunches with the entire stack, hanging leg ups, v-ups....etc.

I hit the gym 3-5 times a week and work abs every time, doing different variations each time.

Yet I lack the crazy abdominal definition that should go along with this. It's clear that I have a strong core, but I don't have the a "6-pack" per say.

It's certainly not a bfp matter either. mine is usually between 8-11%

any ideas? maybe it's just genetics?
>> Anonymous
>per say.
You mean you lack helpful lighting, a shaved stomach, a perfect angle, and a bf% that shouldn't be kept for more than a couple days?

You probably have one, but are just expecting something model-esque.

That or you're a little more predisposed to belly fat/drink too much booze

>mine is usually between 8-11%

That's the problem. I didn't start to see mine until 6%. Bodybuilders at showtime hang around 3%.
>> Anonymous
haha ok, well fuck that then. I really do not need to be completely unhealthy just to have a six pack.

Post pics.

Yeah, it's not very healthy. That's one reason the bulk/cut cycle is popular, very few people can have a visible 6 pack all the time without losing huge amounts of muscle.
>> Anonymous
Genetics do play a small role as far as body shape and where you store your fat, but really shredded six-pack abs are just unhealthy. Plus, you're stronger at 10-12% body fat than the 5-8% that you need for those abs. If you're looking for something new, go on YouTube and search for "Dragon Flags".

whats your squat deadlift and bench
>> Anonymous
MOAR DRAGON FLAGS NAO
>> Anonymous
so those are called dragon flags....

those are tough, I can only do like 5 of those and then I want to cry.
>> Anonymous
I can:

Squat: generally 175lb, max 200-215
bench: generally 155-160, max 175-180
deadlift: 145-155.

you're a girly man.

having been extremely active for the last 15 years, I've suffered enough really painful injuries to know that a healthy body does not mean pushing myself to ridiculous limits.

I'm not competing in the olympics anytime soon, so I'd much rather dial it back a bit and not risk debilitating injury. Not to mention, at my heaviest, I was about 190, and I was HUGE. but in general, I have a tall and slim body type, so I'm never going to be able to displace crazy amounts of weight.
>> Anonymous
>>170842
Why the fuck is your deadlift so low?
>> Anonymous
>>170845
WHAT
>> Anonymous
as I said, I don't need to blow a disk or something trying to lift ridiculous weight. especially considering how dangerous deadlifts can be.

however, I know it's kind of low, what would be a good bar to set?

>>170871

OH MY GOD YOU'RE GOING TO DIE IF YOU LIFT ANY MORE THAN THAT DO NOT EVER PICK UP ANOTHER WEIGHT AGAIN
>> Anonymous
>>170842
shit numbers, especially deadlift. your squat should be about 80 - 100lbs above your bench, deadlift about 80 - 100lbs above squat.

we have a case of you think you are strong, but you aren't.

>>170862
190lbs at 6"1 is FAR from huge, huge would be 230+
im 3 inches shorter than you and i weight 185, and im not huge at all.

tldr; try again, you aren't near as strong as your think you are. try decline crunches with a 35lb plate behind your head
>> Anonymous
>>170875
Yeah, only if you lift with improper form.

But, i have to admit, it took me 3-4 weeks practicing on the bar before I could start adding weight with proper form.
>> Anonymous
>>170878

for reference, i would consider myself an intermediate lifter.

5"10, 185 9ish % bf
bench - 235
squat - 310
deadlift - 385
>> Anonymous
>>170883

strong would be something like

315 bench
405 squat
455+ deadlift
>> Anonymous
>>170893

this is strong
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
>>170905

those numbers aren't insane but you'd be in decent shape to have them. no one here is in decent shape. plus, they're almost exactly 80 lbs apart, which is what the previous post said they should be.

i am an internet detective.

fine, ill post my pic when it gets dark because i use my window as a mirror (no big full body mirrors)

im the guy with the 385 deadlift
>> Anonymous
No. 170893 here

im not even the strongest guy on my highschools football team. There are people on the team who squat over 600 and bench around 350. but they are around 220 pounds and about 6 feet. But thats still damn strong i think
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
>>170907

bench: your mother
squat: your mother x2
deadlift: your mother x3

i lift your mother a lot.
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
>>170923

pics or you're a lying fat self conscious bitch
>> Anonymous
I'm an alien and I can bench your entire solar system.

also, I shoot lazers out of my extremely ripped ass.

what now bitches?
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
it's not even possible to bench 200 pounds or more anyway, the human body can't withstand that amount of pressure.

>>170918
OMG BURN ROFL xD
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
>>170930

yeah that's what your mother said
>> Anonymous

>> Anonymous

my mom weights like 105 lbs, you are WEAK lol
>> Anonymous
>>170780

its "per se" not "per say", get it right.
>> Anonymous
>>170780
You probably have really bad form.

also 175lb squat lol.
>> Anonymous
when people quote their "max lifts" are these just 1 rep max? or do we assume 5 rep max?
>> Anonymous
>>its "per se" not "per say", get it right.

I BELIEVE YOU FORGOT TO CAPITALIZE THE FIRST LETTER OF YOUR SENTENCE. I ALSO BELIEVE YOU FORGOT TO ADD AN APOSTROPHE, SINCE "ITS" DOES NOT MAKE GRAMMATICAL SENSE. ALSO, "PER SE" IS AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF THE PHRASE IN QUESTION. NOW STFU AND GO DO SOME SQUATS. RAAAAAAAAAAAGE. NOW IF YOU'LL EXCUSE ME, I HAVE TO GO CORRECT OTHER PEOPLE ON VARIOUS OTHER INTERTUBE FORUMS.

1 rep max man, who considers anything else their maximum?
>> Anonymous
Traditionally, 1 rep is your max but when I played D1 hockey freshmen year (shocking and unbelievable here I know) it was a 3 rep max.
