Running Anonymous
hello /fit/, this thread is about running. questions, comments, workout plans, anything related to running.

I'm planning out my training plan for the spring/summer and wondered how many other people on /fit/ are active runners.

also, what are your PRs for different distances?

pr, less than four miles and fastest mile at 9 minutes and something.

Question, how to get rid of my fat gut with maximum efficiency and safety?

well losing weight is really all about simple math. If you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. this can be achieved several ways. 1, consume less calories (diet) 2. burn more calories (lift weights, do cardio of some form) Generally some combination of 1 + 2 is the safest, most efficient way to lose weight. cardio like running burns calories, but it also raises your metabolic rate for hours after exercising, so you burn more calories than you normally would.

I want to start running primarily to join Nike+ and talk shit to/beat my friend. However, I suck at running and do not have an iPod Nano/Nano Armband. Anyone have one for sale? (Even better if you have a pair of size 14 Nike runners for free.)

Any tips for learning how to get a good running form? I have no problem with endurance. I'm a rower, and usually go anywhere from 20 to 60K per week. I just really suck at almost any race that involves pacing yourself. (I can swim/run/whatever really fast, but always end up running at sprint-speed then wearing myself out.)

this page is an excellent reference for textbook running form. that being said, everyone's form is different, and almost no one has form that would be considered ideal. just read the tips on the page and consciously think about your form while running.
