So quick question /fit/. You're supposed to rest between your lift days, right?

So, how are people able to do sports and still maintain a good lifting regimen, wouldn't that be detrimental to their gains? Like say I lift monday, go to practice tuesday, lift wednesday, go to practice thursday, lift friday, game on saturday, do whatever on sunday, while still doing HIIT 2-3 a week, wouldn't this be putting way too much of a strain on my body and limit my gains?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Most save the serious lifting and strength gains for the off-season, and only do maintenance work for the in-season. They might step up the lifting mid-season though, in preparation for post-season tournaments.

So if I want to get maximum gains, would continuing to do sports be a bad idea or am I going about this all wrong?

Are you on a school team or is it recreational? Lifting weights is supposed be in support athletics, not the other way around. So what's more important to you in life right now, sports or lifting? If it's sports, cut back on the lifting and HIIT to 1-2 times a week, and focus on your sport. If whats important to you is lifting, then cut the sports.
