hay /fit/ and anyone else looking,

basically ive been affected my social anxiety disorder on and off since i was like 5. Of course the concept of going to a doctor to try and "talk him into" getting you meds is kind of flawed in that the more talking i do the less likely it looks that i have an anxiety disorder plus ssris etc can cause loads of other problems so its better to look at other solutions. My latest idea (and first tbh) is to start working out etc, my problem is that I don't what it to seem like im consciously making an effort with my appearance so I was wondering if you knew any good 'discrete' workout methods e.g push-ups/sit-ups. Also some general hints would be nice. this shouldn't be taken as the truth in anyway if you plan to use it in that way and any conclusions drawn from it are most likely to be incorrect I just require the information.

I think I speak for everyone when I say:
What the fuck are you trying to say, brah?

so you want to work out with out gains?
just work out then haha i dont get any gains just get a little stronger

like I could just secretely do push-ups in my room each night. But what I couldn't do is join a ju-jitsu class or buy some weights because it just seems too much. Its hard to describe but I just hate the idea of being seen to have any sort of opinions/personality/emotions. I don't really ask you to understand I just want to know some good hints etc.

It would be okay if I just slowly started looking a bit less nerdy etc but I don't want to be seen to be working hard at something I'm likely to fail at. Its not just being fit its like the whole social phenomenon if I show any interest in it it will be like 'Oh, such and such tries so hard to have friends yet fails so badly at it'

maybe the confidence that working out will give you is what you need bud

go to the gym put in some head phones and get your shit done

Do either that, or do what two kids at my school did.
Come up to some guy who you know isn't a dickhead and knows something about exercises. Then ask him if he can help you in starting out on weight training.

If you aren't the social type anyway, you don't have to start and behave like a total party crackerjack (what?).
Just do something for your self confidence (read: Get ripped) and live your life.

Oh and fuck meds, worst thing for psychological disorders in history.

okay thanks for the help I think I will go for the old headphones + hard work trick. And just as I type another brainwave came to me I can sort of convert my attic into a gym; the chances are that noone will go in there and regardless I will probably notice when they do. So I'm thinking of using push-ups sit-ups chin-ups is there anything else of that nature that dosen't really require any extra equipment?

getting /fit/ is the best thing I could have ever done. I scrapped the prescribed meds and havent looked back. I take sups, vitd, and multivit, but that is just to make sure everything is in order. I am no longer constantly depressed, I'm more outgoing and a bit more comfortable with myself which also makes me better around people. I workout in a cardkey gym at 10pm at night, I am usually the only one there, which was great when starting to get fit due to insecurities.

Also it doesnt have to be about appearance, it could be about health, in your case mental health. Do it as a sport, or a hobby. GL SIR!

when your at the gym your workng out mining your own busyness and you get a strong or as big as you want to if you work out realy hard and get the self confedence you need then it wont realt matter that you have changed its not an over night thing and your not going to show up to school in a beater or spandex anyway

Plenty, google Bodyweight Exercises. But seriously, buy a cheap pair of dumbells for like 30 bucks and you can make a huge fuckton of exercises.

srsly you guys just pulled me out of a recession on the happiness scale its always good to see people who were like pretty much in the same position as me(the other guy I knew killed himself; which was a kind of a downer but he also did drugs etc so one cannot be really sure if he was in his right mind at the time.) Yeah sometimes I like to think of it as a blessing when your not busy talking you tend to listen a lot more and I've realised that the popular people are mostly all assholes, if i was going to make an appearance on the social scene I would make sure that I was the right type of person if you understand me.

D'aaaawwww

And yes, you don't HAVE to be all social and go on partys and what shit not. If you're fine with a couple of good friends (you do have friends right? one or two decent ones is actually sufficient, you won't have that alot of friends anyway ones you're out of college) Then you're cool.

Although even some more decent chicks (i.e. actually intelligent personas) like to go out on some shit so it would be cool if you can man up enough to go out with 'em without beeing too much of a twat who doesn't says anything.
But I assume you don't have a girlfriend right now anyway, so that isn't your main problem either.

tl;dr: Be yourself.
