Does anyone here feel injured all the time? I'm constantly battling shin splints, fucked up knees (did a bone scan recently, going back to sports physio/ortho in a month), herniated disc in my back.

Have my frail genetics doomed me to a life of poor fitness and injury? Are there some people who just have so many hereditary mechanical difficulties that exercise would hurt more than help?

I constantly battle arm/wrist problems due to years of improper typing, etc... so now when I lift weights it's always an issue.

Some of just aren't made for that durability - so we have to find ways to compensate if we want to stay fit in all the ways we want to stay fit.

My personal solution for my personal problem are lifting gloves with wrist support/wraps... it works like a charm.

Never be afraid to "look weak" when you're properly taking care of your body. There's no such thing as a proper tough guy who "toughs out" injuries through lifting. That's just stupid 15-year-old mentality.

Stretch more.

>battling shin splints, fucked up knees

Invest in some better running shoes, key words are "Asics" and "Gel". No more shin splints.

Oh and for the hell of it, finish it off with knee supports.

Your problems should be gone with this.

I'm just pissed because not only is my right knee fucked from a clean and jerk mishap (I jumped into the 'foot forward' stance during the cleaning motion) but it seems to somehow have spread to my left knee. How the hell does that work?

i was born with a foot condition called a tarcel coalition. in this condition the fibres in my left foot were fusing together creating 1 big bone instead of multiple bones in my foot. i had surgery to correct this and remove bone spurs in that foot when i was 13 and was on crutches and in cast on my left leg for 6 months afterwards. last year i ripped 3 ligaments in my hand in half and could not use the thumb on that hand, and had to have surgery on my left hand to sew them back together. Initially after the surgery i could not open up a bottle of water. That hand fully recoverd in a month after surgery, just by regaining flexiblity in it. last week i strained the muscles in my neck and when i got a cat scan/ x-rays to check for a concussion they found a birth defect where i have an unfused c1 vertebre in my spine. i just got aproved to going back to playing contact sports and working out yesterday. injuries happen... but you can overcome them with work and dedication.
