Army fitness thread is go.
Or rather, pre-Army fitness. Anyone have any idea what one should be doing prior to having their Army intake?
I don't even know when I'm going in yet, because I have to wait until my fucking braces are out and this is taking an age.

During my selection I did my 1.5 mile run in 10:29, and the one before that in 11:20, which was rather remarkable considering I did no running between the two.
I am not a good runner though; I get out of breath very quickly.

Run everyday. Work on a lot of cardio. Its not about weight training in boot camp.

Do a diagnostic. See how many pushups / situps you can do in an hour. Then run 2 miles, and see how long it takes you.

After that, go talk to a recruiter. They have plans, books on how to improve. They also probably PT.

If you live near a college, find out if they have an ROTC program. Join it. Be an officer, dont enlist.

Cardio is by far the most important part. By far. Try to run 2 miles every day, and 5 miles once a week. That would be good going into basic. Everything else comes after that. Try job/sprint/job/sprint for 2 miles twice a week. That way you can build up your endurance.
