Pudgy shut-in
Hey /fit/, don't come around here much so bear with my bullshit. I'm looking to build up some lean muscle, nothing too dramatic I'd just like to get a better fit for jeans and the like since I have fatty thighs/ass in addition to love handles. I'm 5'8 and weigh 160 lbs; body wise I'm kinda pudgy but sit ups have helped with keeping the tummy in check.

I've been dieting for the past couple weeks now; completely avoiding fast food and any semblance of overly processed junk. Green tea + honey oats granola bar (x2) for breakfast, whole wheat turkey sandwiches for lunch (no mayo), typically tuna + crackers for dinner though I sometimes grab a Caesar salad from Mcdonalds (no dressing, no chicken, just veggies and a bunch of Parmesan cheese).

Work out..is pretty pathetic. 100 sit ups, 100 jumping jacks, 35 push ups, 50 reps of 15 lb hand-weights with both arms each all before going to bed each night.

Any one care to help me out as to where I'm being a dumbass and what I could do to fix it?

pic related, it's my (WAAAAY the fuck out there) ideal point.

try counting your calories, If it is over (your weight in lbs)x10 they you are eating too much to lose weight. Other than that, try doing your excersize early in the day, as that allows your metabolism to stay elevated longer from your work out. As soon as you sleep the metabolism slows down and lessens the effects of the work out.

you have no idea what you are talking about. When I first worked with a trainer, I weighed 187 pounds ( 6'2" tall). I was put on a no junk food diet, and was told to eat 3500 cal a day. I LOST 10 pounds in 8 months. I have to eat 5 times a day just to maintain my weight

So eat more = lose weight, I'll keep that in mind.

Seriously though, food wise am I okay or am I missing some important nutrients?

Any exercises I should work in? I feel like my current set up is kinda insufficient.

you probably have no business doing anything at all because you are too fucking stupid. That's NOT what I said. I was contradicting the stupid, non-scientific idea that you should not eat more than 10X your weight in calories in order to lose weight. Before I changed my diet I was probably eating almost the same number of calories, except there were more fat calories. The point is, you stupid silly ignorant child, that the level of activity matters much more than the number of calories. If you like to eat, and still want to lose weight, eat good food, as opposed to crap, and become very active.

rage much, fellow anon? I get what you were trying to say, but since you most likely had a way more intense work out than what I'm going for, eating more was actually APPROPRIATE. For me though, I;m pretty sure that wouldn't work out the same.
