Cant seem to get smaller... Anonymous
HEYYYYY /Fit/

I am 6ft, 348lbs...I work out 9 times a week...2times everyday, as well as 1 time on sat. sunday/monday rest...Ilift every other day...so 3 times a week i lift, and I do cardio all other times.

I do about average 45mins of cardio each visit no matter what.

am - lift with 45mins cardio
pm - 45mins of cardio

Ive been doing this for several months now...and cant seem to get anywhere.

I eat healthy, very healthy actually...food allergies help play into this.

Ive gone down about 12pants sizes in the past 3 months...but still weigh 348-350.

first off... why are the numbers so important? If you look good, who cares?

Also, DDR. That's my cardio, and it blasts most other cardio in the face if you can just put it on nonstop and go for an hour.

muscle weighs more than fat, that's all that matters.

it's the quality not the quanity that matters. Instead of shooting for time shoot for how many calories burned, miles, rpm, etc...

Lift more. The more muscle the higher the metabolism.

Change the foods you eat. Eat more fiber and cut down on carbs. Drink more water and limit your junk food intake.

Do a variety of cardio. Start running too. Take up HIIT

OPhere....

dont eat alot o carbs, eat lots of protien and needed veggies...if i do eat something sweet its usually fruit...or on the weekend I eat one meal that is "bad"....I have been doing more and more cardio and pushing weights as well...everytime I go lift I am able to add about 10-20lbs extra weight to what I am lifting as well as still maintain my sets of 3x15. For the past two weeks Ive been doing a cardio my Godfather rec. and well I havnt lost any weight...he said if I did his set up I should lose about 5lbs a week...didnt happen.

GodFather is a ret.pro bodybuilder and now trains people full time...lives in AZ...I live in the NW. Even with my old trainer, stopped working with him 3 weeks ago, I couldnt drop below 348...though I can do alot lifting/cardio wise. Example : did 60reps of 135lbs bench in one sitting....so yeah I dont get it. I am still too heavy to run...yet i can squat like 550 no prob continually.

I am a freaaaaaaak!!!

OPagain...dunno if it matters much but I topped out at 485lbs 78pants size a year and a half ago.

So you say you are doing sets of 3 for 15 reps. Is that for everything? Well... Your body might just have gotten used to what you are doing, so you might want to try something different.
Variety! If if you ARE doing 3x15 for just about everything, you might want to try doing a power lifting routine, with alot of "big lifts" Squats, dead lifts, bench press, and cleans being your starting lift for the muscle group that you are going to train each day.
Or you can try training to failure with in a rep range of 8-12 after a warm up set or two.
Speaking from experience: I was 370 lbs, with about a 40% fat. Now I'm 310 with 28% body fat after about 16 months. So keep at, it and remember that variety is your best friend.

opagain...

I have also been doing the sets of 10 and what not and increasing the weight even more on those then the normal 10-20lbs increases everytime...that did even less with weight loss...made me hungry as hell though...

348 with 40% body fat...hate it.

hmm lets see here... oh yes...
YOU CANT LOSE BODYFAT AND GAIN MUSCLE AT THE SAME TIME

you at this point have two options
1) cut
2) bulk

self explanatory, 1) you eat less calories, and cardio, lift for maintenance, no food after doing cardio
2)take in more calories than you burn, stop doing cardio

so what would happen if i do 80 pushups and run 8 kilometers a day for 8 weeks? nothing?

to an extent. you can certainly build and tone some muscle and lose weight easily at the same time, but you arent going to bulk up like a gorilla while losing weight
>> IKNOWMORETHANYOU
>>55410
you would be assisting the maintainance of your upper body muscles used during pushups, every other muscle would go to shit and you would most likely end up losing weight depending on your diet

>>55412
toning is different from gaining muscle, obviously you will look more defined with less bodyfat on you, as far as "toning" already existing muscle, its a myth, theres no such thing

okay what i am going to try...

1. Eat even less then currently.
2. more cardio...trying for about 2hours or more a day.
3. lifting just for maintance.

thoughts?

Hey man, I'm sorry to say, but what the fuck are you thinking? Stop lifting so much! Start running MORE. LONGER and FURTHER. (Also, is that treadmill running or street running?) Getting your heart rate up is what's gonna matter. Also, start doing crunches. LOTS OF THEM. It sucks, trust me, I know. But after a while, you'll see the results. Your skin is gonna start tightening up with the weight loss.

Maybe you can't.

getting fit and healthy is a life long decesion you not gonna be skinny like the picture in just 3 months it's gonna takes years of dedication to lose 300+ pounds of weight.

man you dont even wanna know how many crunches I do...treadmill, elliptical (sp?), rowing machine, bike..seriously I am doing everything right to lose weight and I just cant!!!

I dont drink , i dont drink sodas, dont eat fast food...I do everything right!!! Keep my heart rate at the correct rate for every...hell I can sustain a continuall heart rate of 175+ for an hour str8 no problem....generally I keep heart rate between a comfy 145-165...only takes about 30sec. to have heart rate come back down to normal level...and resting heart rate is only 65..sometimes 55 depends on how much I slept LOL
