I need some /fit/ appropriate images, but I guess this will do

Now I don't need to go to 7chan anymore for all my /fit/ness needs! But we need a good looking white boy like the one in their board.

Anyway, it's a simple' question. Do I NEED to run to lose weight? I lift weights and am in overall good shape, but I need to lose my handles. They're not big and I don't have "rolls", but it still worries me.

I'm hesitant to run because, well, it's a complicated story. Basically, I used to but now can't.

can I just cut down on what I eat?

you need aa cardio. Dosen't have to be running but it has to be something. Trust me I'm a doctor.

Cardio doesn't have to be running. Beating on a punching bag is great cardio and has side benefits. Going quickly from exercise to exercise when you're doing weights (or alternating two muscle groups) will also put a strain on your cardio, although it will reduce the amount you can lift.

Also any kind of sparring, especially in a grappling martial art (if you're interested) is probably the best cardio you can get due to the constant exertion an all your muscles.

increase reps and reduce weight to work up a good sweat, am in same boat with no running

How about jump rope? or cycling? Swimming also counts as cardio, but is better for overall toning than actual weight loss.

You can cut down eating dramaticly, and you will probably loose some good weight with that, but you will gain it soon or your body will look disproportional. Try a combination of cardio (running, bike (enything that makes you sweat)), easy diet (nothing complicated: don't eat at nights, eat more vegetables, if you get hungry don't make a huge sandwich-eat an apple!, have many small meals a day), and some Weight training if you can. (if not pushups, situps, pullups do the trick)

Because you want to target your love handles I would recomend:
-Lots of cardio (swimming, bike, running...)
-Situps, dead leg lifts
-easy diet

Believe me; I used to be a fat dude too, but now I hate fat people (but at the same time I want to help them) because I saw how easy loosig weight really is!

ENJOY!

First of all, this board is kick-ass

Second, whatever you do, DON'T START OFF TOO HARD!
Whenever I try to get back in shape after I fall off the bandwagon, I always do too much too soon and convince myself, after a few days, that my muscles are too tired to keep going so I rest. I know alot about nutrition and health but it's still really hard to keep a constat workout regimen. Basically, slow and steady wins the race here, don't beat yourself up when you first start.

Also, drink more water! It keeps your metabolism going so you keep burning energy even when you're not working out
