Why the fuck do people worry about carbs? Pasta and bread in particular?

I fucking chow down on pasta and bread regularly and I'm not a fattie. I'm not a hard core athlete either. In fact I only exercise a couple of days a week and the rest of the time I'm very sedentary (though working on fixing that).

Carbs =/= zomg it'll make me teh whale.

not being fat has nothing to do with how much weight I can move. learn to think outside the confines of SQUATZ for fucks sake.

not being fat doesn't mean shit, if you move your ass around and are skinny by nature - you are probably from the skinny fatties: weak, unhealthy, flabby, but hey - you aren't fat as the average american - congrats tard

Noodles and potatoes have proven to be the best pre-workout food (for me).
Infinite power about one and a half our after eating.

Because people are generally idiots and believe whatever the latest fad diets tell them.

We've been eating pasta, vegetables and breads for thousands of years. It's fine. I find it hilarious how people put more stock in the last 6-7 years of pseudoscience than they do in thousands of years of human dietary habits and anatomical/nutritional science.

But, then again, the same people believing this bullshit hype are the same majority who believe in God and support the war, so I'm not surprised.

A Fad.
Fat was the evil food in the 80's and 90's.
You can thank Atkins for making carbs satanic this days.

Yes I hate when people say that some food is bad "because it has a lot of carbs"
But again, people used to worry about fat and sugar some time ago

Yes, but not the ultra-refined and processed wheat products we have nowadays.

Regardless, as long as carbs are a balanced portion of the diet there is no problem.

carbs and glycemic index

raises insulin levels too much, causes diabetes and heart disease, too many carbs contributes to this

thanks

I think you're a paranoid fuck. Buying a box of pasta or rice is not "ultra-refined". What do you even mean by "refined"? I'm fairly certain you have NO clue what the fuck you're talking about and just like throwing around cool little buzzwords because that's what all the magazines are doing.

Again, you are just paranoid and uneducated. Not surprised to find your type lurking /fit/. I bet it'd blow your little world upside down if you found that the FDA and the food industry DIDN'T have a conspiracy against JUST YOU AND NOBODY ELSE. Cause it's OBVIOUS they're all out to get you and forcefeed you corn syrup and cookies, right faggot?

Christ, I hope you die. Your genes do not belong here.

Haha, somebody needs a hug.

>Buying a box of pasta or rice is not "ultra-refined".
No shit. It's called shopping, tard.

>What do you even mean by "refined"
Refined = highly processed to remove all other elements except the base ingredient.

Refined sugar is so easily digested and absorbed that it rapidly spikes your blood sugar levels. But hey, it's not like that's bad for you or anything.

>you are just paranoid and uneducated
If I'm uneducated then why did I just have to explain what refined meant?

If you're so fucking worried, buy whole-grain pasta. This is what I do.

It has less calories in general and a lower glycemic index. It fills you up faster, too (when I eat regular pasta I can just keep eating and eating, but whole grain pasta actually fills me).

Anyway, just keep it smart. I'm poor, so I eat pasta 3 nights a week. I've also been losing 2.5 pounds a week doing this. Just keep exercising and eating smart. Look on the back of the pasta box and cook an appropriate amount for your recommended calories. You'll be fine.

The problem most people have with carbs is that they just eat too fucking much. Yes, it certainly is possible to easily eat 2000 calories of rice or pasta in one meal, but if you measure and plan before you cook, you can eat a comfortable dinner of 700 calories of pasta.
