Dear /fit/

i have been hitting the gym and running a lot lately. i have been really working on getting tone. Now i want to bulk up. I have considered taking a pro-hormone supplement. But, All my friends have gotten really beefy from taking them. Do you think it is possible to bulk up and still keep cut by doing cardio? Or should i just screw the supplement and take protein?

Its harder to gain muscle while trying to stay cut.

Bulk and cut are to different things.

Bulking up = getting fat and getting muscles

Cutting = getting low fat %, and not gaining musclemass

The more cut you are, the easier it is to bulk up and only gain musclemass.

The fatter you are, the more of your bulking will be fat, and less muscle.

OP: So, Do you think it would be better to just continue working out and taking protein +cardio and overtime... build the muscle mass?

Blondes: OP: No cardio at all? I still want to be cut and look like a beefy guy

supplements are bad. Once you start taking them, you'll need to keep taking them because your body will think it's the norm. Stick to protein. Depending on size, I'd go with 20-30g of protein a day, directly after your workout. I'd go with a non dairy shake (just add water) for quick delivery. You loose a good bit of nutrients through digestion. Depending on how much you exercise, I would suggest going easy on taking anything because whatever your body doesn't use, it'll store it as fat. That is a big one for protein.

Hope this helps. ^_^

don't listen to anyone here. doing cardio on your off days is fine. even doing cardio early in the day, then lifting at night is an option. running for 15 mins before a workout shouldn't impede your gains either. just don't do cardio after your strength training, instead, stretch and drink your shake.

>Do you think it is possible to bulk up and still keep cut...?

yes. no need for cardio on off days, that won't give your body the rests it needs. A light 20-30min jog on an off day every week would be fine though.

You don't need to do cardio to cut
