Hey /fit/

Just came back from the doctor for a general check-up. Found out I weigh 218, I'm only 5'10 so I'm pretty much a fat fuck and I'm fucking done with it. I'm not 218 full of fat though, I'm a pretty muscly person underneath all the fatass. So if I could even get to about 170-180 I would be pretty happy.

I've already started eating less, fruit for a snack, and drinking water when I'm hungry. I prolly drink a gallon of water a day, I don't really know if this a smart idea though. I have a basic idea of what food are healthy for me, but still pretty fail.

I've also kind of been exercising basically, about four reps of 10 of Sit ups and crunches. About 20 or so push ups. Running up and down my stairs until I'm decently tired; got the idea from the stairmaster, it must be good if there is a machine right?

And I'm a real amateur at this shit and I'm done with being fat. Will /fit/ help me?

Action hank is always related.

I think you started out well. It's also very admirable that you are taking the initiative to do this. Don't loose motivation.

For food, eat natural. Salad (no dressing), fruit, fish, whole grains, and MEAT. Don't eat as many carbs before you go to sleep. Try to shoot for 150 carbs a day. 75-150 g of protein. 1500 calories (or under). Low salt. Low cholesterol. Potassium is a must. (Bananas or supplements.) Try to eat well rounded.

For a workout. Try to jog for thirty minutes to an hour. Try to do around 100 sit ups and push ups a day. Gradually do more reps and jog longer if you feel comfortable with it. If you have weights, lift 'em. Do some squatz (of course, eh?). I imagine you don't have machines or weights. No gym membership. If you get one, that's a plus. Always mix cardio and weights though, that's important. If it take a while to loose some weight, don't get discouraged. :]

I can't take weight loss pills or anything like that because of a heart condition.

Thanks, should I do like jump rope and things like that for cardio or just the jogging? And is there any specific foods that are really high in vitamins and such? Because I already eat wheat bread, fish and lean meats generally. My weakness is eating to much and to many sweets. I live alone so it's just going to be will-power to not buy sweets and only buy for only 3 meals a day.

I understand. Vegetables are going to be your new sugar. They are high in vitamins, calcium, iron, ect. Broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas, ect. Not so much corn because of the starch content. (Not saying you can't eat corn.) Don't let yourself go off the handle. Give yourself a treat after every week. Get an ice cream or something. Then you won't be more likely to binge. If you do feel like tearing through your cabinets, just think about how you'll feel like shit afterwards. lol. Occupy your time. And for jumping rope, that's really good for you heart. The work out is up to you. Do what every gets your blood pumping and you find some what comfortable and enjoyable. Your workout should relieve stress, not cause it. ^^

Thanks so much, not so fond of corn anyways haha, but I like broccoli and cauliflower so I'll make sure to make sure I implement vegetables into my meals. My major concern is I'm planning to be doing this for a while because I know I wont just wake up and be skinny. So I don't want to not get enough vitamins because I'm eating to much less and not the right things, so thanks for the advice it is very very appreciated.
