no dont stop doing crunches at all they will develope your abdominals so that they are sculpted once you lose your gut. but you need to do other ab exercises also with the cruches. doing an ab routine is much more effective than doing just 1 exercises. try doin other stuff like sit ups, russian twists, dead man holds, ABC's, Leg lifts, weighted sit ups, and core bridges, and different crunch variations like reverse crunches & bent knee crunches. start by picking out a few of those exercises (i do 8 in a row for my ab routine) and do 20 reps of each exercise. then increase your reps by 5 per set each week until you feel like your reps are high enough. i caped out at 45 reps for all the crunch and lift exercises, and holding all the things like dead man holds and core bridges for 3 sets of 1 minute each. just try an ab routine like that and after a few months you have a sculpted 6 pack
