So /fit/ I did my first set of SQUATZ today. I'd read the few pages in Starting Strength, so I think my for was pretty good. I started out light because I have a bad lower back and my knees crack just standing up. I got up to about 65 lbs I think (40 lbs in weights + the bar). My legs felt tense doing them but now they don't feel bad while the rest of my body is tense from my other workouts. When will I know to put on more weights without doing damage to my body?

your body has to get used to it, keep adding 5 lbs per week, but on off days you want to just get used to the squat. when you are standing around or whatever just drop into the full squat position and get a feel for it.

bodyweight squats are still very useful and good to warm up.

i like to hit the bike until all the pops are out of my knees before i start squatting. get warmed up good

eat lots of good fats like fish oil etc this will help.

dont worry be patient and persistant

i can almost guarantee you will hit your first full plate squat (135lbs) in about 2 months or so. newbie gains are amazing, take advantage of them. keep it up.

go to Tnation and become a member there, that site helps me so much
