should my back be hurt the day after i do deadlifts?
>> Anonymous
NO!!!! it shouldn't. don't fuck around with deadlifts. find out how to do them from a pro.
>> Anonymous
>>439253
muscles might hurt, cause dead lifts are for training muscles around your spine...

if spine hurts, you are doing them wrong
>> S.T.A.L.K.E.R. !3GqYIJ3Obs
your lower back muscles can (and should, if you did them right) be sore atleast 1 day after your workout
>> Anonymous
My lower back used to get sore because of deadlifts but nowadays when I lift MUCH heavier it's moar like glutes, traps, back of the shoulders, forearms, calves, hamstrings and inner abs. Almost everything basically except lower back. I do keep it straight though.

doinitwrong?
>> Anonymous
>>439305

No, your lower back might just be conditioned to take a beating from deadlifts and doesn't get as sore anymore. You've probably just gotten to a weight where the rest of your body is stressed from deadlifting, and thus gets sore.

Also, I'd like to point out that the form of the guy in OP's picture is fucking horrible.
>> S.T.A.L.K.E.R. !3GqYIJ3Obs
Try lowering your weight and do more reps, but slower with perfect form
>> Anonymous
>>439315

Goes too low and too wide grip?
because I probably do them right if that's it.

Also, lol at the bar being in front of toes and shoulders.
>> Anonymous
>>439317
how can EITHER of those aspects be NEGATIVE

snatch grip is superior
>> Anonymous !ErY2TknG0w
Hips too low, bar too far away from body

>>439321
it's not a snatch. A wide grip means further distance, losing mechanical efficiency. It also can lead to people bending elbows and trying to lift with their arms.
>> Anonymous !ErY2TknG0w
>>439253

My lower back gets sore if I haven't deadlifted in a while due to deconditioning. Otherwise it doesn't usually happen on 5x5 and most strength routines because you're not fatiguing the back muscle.
>> Anonymous
I just started using Sumo grip, it's helped me a lot, i've started 5x5 with 100kg up from 80kg
>> Sponge !!5qxfxHYSQxJ
yeah his form is horrible, that's why he's much bigger and more experienced than you. stfu nerd.

its a snatch-grip deadlift, fucktard

perfect setup. exactly as poliquin would recommend for enhanced leg recruitment. so of course you wont lift 'as much' as conventional.

do them off a platform to increase ROM even more.

if you want to do more weight, just massively cut ROM and pull sumo.

protip: conventional takes away more than it gives.

I personally wouldn't be telling someone worried about whether their back should hurt after deadlifts to do snatch-grip DLs. It's not a matter of weight, just efficiency and safety. Assbirth.

ROAMANION DEADLEFTS MAYNE
>> Anonymous
>>439482
thats exactly WHY they should

ANYTHING in which LOAD is reduced, greatly reduces possible COMPRESSION and SHEAR forces on the spine.
snatch grip deadlift increases TECHNIQUE versus LOAD when compared to conventional deadlift, 'assbirth'
>> Anonymous
>>439482
snatch grip deadlift uses more leg, much less lower back than normal deadlifts. i use the snatch grip deads when my back is actually to tired to do normal deadlifts.
>> Anonymous
I have to do 1 arm deadlifts now that my other hand is injured, my back hurt for the first time in months, but it's gone 2 days after so I'm good
>> Anonymous
>>439497
1 arm DLs are even more badass, especially if your grip is not a massive weakspot. do you do them like farmers walk style (next to you) or like a regular DL (barbell in front of you)?
>> Anonymous
Would it be alright if I film myself deadlifting and post on youtube or whatever and post here asking about proper form? I'm new at this and haven't found anyone at the gym who knows much at all, most of the time my friends ask ME how to lift properly and I'm already worried about my own form (with reason, I'm 100% sure I'm doing it all wrong) :/
And I trust you guys more then youtube comments, tbh

>And I trust you guys more then youtube comments, tbh

you must be new

>>439575

I wouldn't post it here, this thread is pretty indicative of the fact that most of /fit/ doesn't know shit. Try strengthmill or sherdog S&P.

>>439560
regular deadlift, never thought of the farmers walk style. in fact i have 2 pair of loadable farmers walks that i never used because i just used kettlebells instead.

OP's pic sucks because:

His neck is hyperextended
The bar is in front of his shoulders
His ass is way too low
His grip is too wide and so is his stance

That is all
>> Anonymous
>>440635
is a retarded faggot who thinks ''deadlift" refers to a lift that can only be performed in one way, the way our lord god, rippetoe says. no such thing as variation.
>> Anonymous
>>440635
Look how fucking tall he is. His grip is wide and his knees are still flared out.

>>440643
Truth.

Rippetoe is our Good Shepard

but cscs is the Dark Lord

Worst poster on this board, no joke. Semantic nitpicking and general petulance/bitchiness in every post I've seen by you.

If you like your deadlifts to be inefficient, then perform it like the guy in the pic. I find something like a sumo deadlift to be acceptable, but don't tell me this is a snatch grip deadlift or some bullshit. Not when your feet are that far apart.

>>440659

His knees are pointed out because his ass is so low and his feet are far apart. Get out of your chair and try it yourself.

poster has never heard of Olympic lifting. amazing how sure he can be of himself when he knows so very little. snatch grip deadlift is considered one of the singular best lifts one can possibly do for hypertrophy. for that task, poliquin even considers it #1 of all movements.
"dont even know that you dont know"

>>439471
then why is he using a reverse grip? not really snatch grip that, is it? no this is not a snatch grip deadlift this is a fucking stupid illustration from a bullshit weightlifting for dummies book or some such. it is fucking terrible and you're still a faggot. why the fuck do you still keep coming here?
>> Anonymous
>>441189
why do you?
>> Anonymous
>>441189
not many here can do a hook grip properly. better to do reverse than strap it up

trolling, flaming, the usual.

>you're still a faggot. why the fuck do you still keep coming here?

you seem to have a personal vendetta. whats your deal? while not friendly, he's offered interesting perspectives on many occassions, and is certainly better read than most. i rather hear why he thinks that faster is better than just "gtfo" as you recommend. because what does that accomplish? increased single-mindedness across /fit/? never a dissenting opinion?

It's not a snatch grip deadlift you fucking faggots. His hands are too close together, and you don't go over/under for a snatch grip deadlift.

All it is is a fucking shitty conventional deadlift.
