What does /fit/ think of meal replacement bars? I am trying to control my caloric intake and these seem awfully convenient. Do they provide enough nutrition to actually substitute for a meal or two during the day?
Meh, I'm doing fine with these little bars. It's not too hard to watch what you eat.
No. Eat healthy and keep it simple. Write up a plan and stick to it and you won't have a problem with your intake, I promise. Unless you have candy and shit laying around your house.
Definitely don't have candy around my place. I live alone, do my own shopping, and try to buy good stuff. I only run in to problems when I'm at work for 8 hours and need to fuel myself without grabbing a bag of skittles from the vending machine.
If you are watching your calorie intake, then yeah, avoid candy. Otherwise, candy every now and then is fine.
again... it depends on what you get. ive seen bars that have over 50% of your calories and fat for the day.
maybe for 1 meal... but not every meal
Depends on the bar. I usually have a Snickers Marathon bar as a snack replacement when I'm at work. 290 calories, 10g fat, 40g carb (10g fiber), 20g protein.
Yeah, definitely for snack replacement when there are no other options. Not meal replacement.MAYBE when I'm in a rush I'll have one for breakfast, but I really try not to.
You could replace some meals with protein shakes. Get low carb protein powder of your favourite flavour. This would probably be a lot cheaper than eating those bars.
