Okay /fit/ I need some help, I've been working out for about 4 months now and have gone from skinny runt to slightly muscled skinny runt (pic related) but Im having some real issues with my lower abs. I've been doing situps and I've been doing some thing where you lie on a bench with your legs sticking out and do lifts with your legs, I don't know what its called in english, but it's supposed to target my lower abs. The thing is after doing 80ish situps I can really feel it in my upper abs, but doing the lower ab training I just don't feel much apart from a sore back. Am I just doing it wrong or is there a better way? Explain it to me because my fitness vocabulary is terrible.

Although unfortunate as it is, some people on /fit/ think squats are the be all and end all of fitness.

Squats are legit good for abdominal development. Your midsection is stabilising whatever weight you have on your back against your hips, it's a lot more work than doing a bunch of leg raises.

OP here, should I use weights or just do regular squats?
>> Anonymous

weighted
>> Anonymous
also try hanging leg/knee raises

Have you tried them? I recently did and they will kick your ass in every way possible, try them faggot.

Would unweighted squats still give results? (Even if they're minimal)

I'm not OP btw.

Why do you want to do it halfassed? If you want results, use weights.

>>185240here again. I was serious when I said you weren't doing enough squats, and what do you know, you're not. It seems like you've never even done squats before, judging from your posts.

What about reverse crunches?

Wrong.

op what did you do in those 4 months? you seem to have made large progress

NO SUCH THING AS TRAINING UPPER AND LOWER ABS; THE ENTIRE RECTUS ABDOMINIS CONTRACTS FROM ORIGIN TO INSERTION

http://www.exrx.net/WeightTraining/Myths.html

http://www.thefactsaboutfitness.com/research/ab_workouts.htm

THE REASON YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR LOWER ABS IS BECAUSE YOU'RE STILL FAT

ALSO, 80 SITUPS IS THE MOST POINTLESS PIECE OF SHIT YOU COULD EVER DO

>>185431

op said he was skinny, probably same build as me. in our case putting on weight exposes our abs more, gtfo troll

80 situps=you're doing it wrong. go up to where you feel your abs contract. not all the way. once you're there, SQUEEZE your abs for a second or two and SLOWLY go back down.

training abs with flexion is improper and can give lumbar problems.

the main function of the abs is to RESIST any kind of movement.

so you train them through deadlifts, overhead squats, overhead pressing, back squat, front squat, barbell rollouts, unilateral upper body exercises, etc etc.

op just needs more fucking muscle all around, his lower abs are in proportion with all his other muscles, he needs to keep lifting heavy and the abs with grow to stabilize every thing.

think of abs as a transmission, and hips and thighs are the engine. you cant put a formula one transmission in a civic.

Sometimes I do crunches with my hands over my head holding a single barbell weight. Think this will work? I've never seen anybody else trying something like this.

Just grab a plate and do situps on the decline

you guys can just ignore this post and keep dicking around with your bullshit, but the thread has been solved

Don't have a decline bench

What the hell is a transmission?
>> Anonymous

like in a fucking car idiot

>>185605

Still doesn't answer the question.
>> Anonymous
the transmission transfers the power from the engine to the wheels. when you shift gears and shit, it happens in the transmission
>> Anonymous
>>185622
I thought the drive shaft transfers the rotation. The transmission is to change the amount of torque and switch gears

Honestly if your upper arms were bigger and your abs were slightly more prominent i'd say you pretty much had teh exact physique i'd be happy with op.
