I'm getting interested into fixed gear bikes. I plan on trying to convert an older road bike into one. I'm looking for any info on what kind of parts I would need and where to get them. Also if anyone has any tips that'd be cool too.

Good choice. Real men ride brakeless fixies.

Takes a bit of getting used to after riding a normal road bike. It's a lot easier to ride (albeit more dangerous) clipped in.

how much money do you want to spend?
You have basically three quality choices:
Shimano, SRAM and Campa.
Shimano offers the cheapest stuff, but is solid quality.
Campa is italian and has more style. Can be more expensive.
SRAM offers high tech at high cost. American company.

Are there any good websites that I can order the parts online or will I have to make a trip to the bike shop?

The better question would be: Do you have the proper equipment aka torque tools and the skills to build a bike by yourself?
You know it's not fun when your bike starts falling apart while you speed down a hill.
