I'll break some things down for you because Venuto's book can be a bit confusing to the beginner.
First things first, the main component in stripping fat off of your body is going to be a tight, high protein diet - cardio helps, but is not essential, good news if you hate cardio.
http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1526539 This author writes good articles dealing with fat loss, and I agree with what he says. You want to tighten up your nutrition and find a comfortable number of calories to eat per day whilst raising metabolic rate through weight lifting.
Don't be discouraged if you can't fit in 6 meals a day, it's ideal, but also not necessary.
Everything else is fairly simple. Eat clean foods, maintain a large hypocaloric state for the most part, lift weights and eat your protein, and you'll be well on your way. Don't get discouraged, this takes a lot of time.
