Posture Anonymous
Hey /fit/

Just a little discussion about Posture.

Mine is shit. It has been for a while and I dunno what to do about it. I make sure I dont spend too much time on the computer and I sit up straight if I do.
I have no history of back trouble, its just starting to hurt now.
I've tried seated rowing and just generally trying to strengthen my back, but the lumbar area seems weak,as if it never wants to hold me up.

Very weird...

I heard pilates can help. Can /fit/ recommend anything else to sort it out?

stats if you need them: 21, 184cm(6'1'' ish), 85kg (180lbs I think)

tl; dr Posture is shit, need tips to sort it out.

make sure you're always aware. i have bad posture because i have slight kyphosis, but because my posture is always on my mind im always correcting it and standing up properly (head up, shoulders back). weight training does help and its good that you are doing it. pilates is good so give it a shot

thanks for the quick response, I might as well try pilates.
I will try and remind myself to keep my back straight too, even though I'm doing that already, sometimes I can slump.

exercise back, trapezius, shoulder and abs and you'll notice a great increase in posture.

Imagine a very powerful balloon tied to your head

Also, if you had bad posture and are forcing your back into good posture, it is gonna hurt for a while.
