I've started going to a nearby school to run/jog around the track field. Today I set a new record; I was able to jog 2 miles without stopping. Sometimes I get pain in my lower left abdomen, though. What should I do to prevent this? I guess this thread is mainly on sharing tips to improve my jogging. From jogging to breathing techniques, doesn't matter. I'm not aiming to become an olympian, just something I do to kill time and keep my health in check.

take l-theanine just before or during your run and see how it goes. I bet you can bust out 3 miles

Only two miles? Please.

Just a few things I have learned.
1) Don't guzzle cold water before the run. Lots of cramps. Just stay hydrated.
2) Try a breathing pattern. I tend to use 3 steps breathing in and 2 steps breathing out.
3) Stretch your shoulders before running. Too many people give up because of sore shoulders part way through their run.

All I can think of tonight. Gratz on your record. Keep improving.

Well, I've only been doing this for like a month. I had to stop after the first lap when I first started.

I know, but green tea has caffeine, which is bad for me.

i never said drink green tea, I said take l-theanine. They sell it in caps. Second of all, the amount of caffeine in green tea is so minimal that it will not cause any detrimental health effects.

Ah, okay. I will look into that.

Most likely you inhale and exhale, when your right foot hits the ground.

You need to switch to breathing on ur left foot.

Might seem a bit harder at first :)
Tell me how it goes.

What is the explanation for this?

CAFFEINE ISN'T BAD FOR YOU, YOU FUCKING IMBECILE

Caffeine is metabolized into paraxanthine which helps promote lipolysis (fat burning), theobromine which acts as a vasodialator and boosts blood and nutrient flow to muscles and organs, and theophyline which relaces smooth muscles of the bronchi, helping you to breath easier.

Your body rocks left to right slightly and it can put strain on one side. It seems insignificant but over long distances it will start to matter.

Notice how in the other 3 / 2 rhythm it is an odd number so this will evenly shift across the body every other breath.

Exactly, it's healthy as long as it's consumed in moderation, same with beer or wine. The problem is that most of the idiots here are fatasses who can't control the huge quantities of shit that they jam in their mouth. They think caffeine is unhealthy because they are pounding several liters of soda and coffee a day.

Thanks, I'll try this...

I guess I should have been a bit more specific. I have vertigo and caffeine can set off my dizzy spells, so I try to avoid it.
