So, I took up smoking a couple months ago (not much, maybe 3 cigarettes a week), and just stopped this week.

Approximately how long will it take my lungs to clear out and get back to full working capacity?

never ever theyre broken forever
>> Anonymous
why the fuck would you do a stupid thing like take up smoking?
>> Anonymous
the damage is irreversible, your lungs are collapsing this very second, you are doomed to a slow and horrific death

Oh jesus christ you pussy you'll be fine

The black line represents the gradual and constant decline in lung function among adults (this decline begins in our 20s). The red line demonstrates the effect of starting to smoke; lung function declines much more rapidly. The blue line indicates the effect of smoking cessation. After a brief and rapid though incomplete recovery, decline then resumes at the same rate as that for non-smokers. The hatched area under the double line represents the point at which lung function has been so severely affected that smoking cessation later than this offers no chance of improvement.

too late, you're fucked, enjoy your lung damage

I'm sorry, but like 3 cigs a week? That's not even worth smoking. It shouldn't have affected your lungs in some radical way. They'll get back to normal, and to quote another anon "Oh jesus christ pussy you'll be fine" I smoke 10-20 cigs a day, go figure.

Give it maximum a few months.
I did the same thing a while back too. My lungs are all set now. Just don't worry about it and don't smoke anymore.

You'll be fine man.

Give it a month or two and you'll be back into top shape.

Some actual values on the X and Y axis would be nice. Can't tell shit from this graph.

You probably havent smoked enough to significantly alter your long term pulmonary function, especially if you're young, which seems likely since you just started.

Another thing you may want to consider though is your secondhand exposure - I'm guessing you didn't start smoking all alone, you probably have friends who do it. Consistent exposure to this is going to hurt your pulmonary function and slow your recovery.

Then you're retarded. I didn't make the fucking graph, and its clearly labelled as well as the text saying that the divergence is around age 20.
Its just meant to demonstrate the effects of smoking on CV health, you polesmoker.

You will clear that shit out quick if you only smoked 3 a week. If you ride with the car window open you get just as much smoke in your lungs from vehicles/ cigarette smoke ect.

COOL STORY BRAH!

I quit a year ago in september, see if you can catch up
>> Anonymous

Good looks brah, never gonna smoke again. We'll see though, it's hard

Seriously, are you really that stupid. Without the values it's impossible to determine the effect size. It could be 30% decrease in capacity compared to nonsmokers, could be 1%.

The internets should be fitted with a down syndrome lock.

only 3 a week? Did you only smoke to seem like one of the cool kids or something? You'll be fine ye cool kid wannabe twat

The scale of effect would obviously depend on variables, such as genetics, amount smoked, etc. The graph is just supposed to illustrate the linear relationship.
Go and do your own research.

I wish 4chan really was 18+

lungs clean or heal themselves everyday. when you had your pussy amount of ciggs, your lungs cleaned themselves by the time you woke up the next morning or earlier.
