Teeth brushing Anonymous
Hi /fit/,

Is it really necessary to brush your teeth twice a day?

I only do it once a day, before going to bed.

Enjoy rotting teeth.

Honestly I doubt it matters that much as long as you do it at night.

I generally brush twice a day (and floss twice), and I've never had a cavity.

On the other hand, one of my best friends in college has never brushed more than once a day in his life and he's never had a cavity either.

Overall I doubt it really matters as long as you brush after dinner..., but I'd ask a dentist I guess...

Dude, brush your teeth three times a day you smelly faggot. Food builds up and causes your breath to stink by midday if you brush in the morning. Also, before bed to get out everything you ate that day without rotting your teethe.

save us all some halutosis and brush in the morning when you wake up. if you're only going to brush once, that is.

This is why we don't have girlfriends.

You know what dental plaque is? It's a biofilm containing a live bacterial colony, billions of billions of bacteria that produce enamel-eating acid if left alone too long.

Brush whenever you feel a plaque buildup.

Brush at night, and make sure you brush right. Start at your gums and brush away, don't just brush from side to side. Used to do that and it was basically pointless.

Morning brushing is also good, but since you haven't eaten shit all night it's not really necessary. I brush my teeth after breakfast if I need to go somewhere though. Be considerate of other people's wishes not to smell your befouled breath.

if you go out in public without brushing your teeth you're disgusting

also enjoy your periodontitis.

all I had to know was that I had some bone below my tongue that stuck out and will stop me from ever getting dentures on my bottom teeth

brushing three times a day is not neccesary if you have breath mints or something after lunch. brush after breakfast.

oh, and get a waterpik if you are too lazy to floss.

I personally brush after ever meal and floss ever week, works for me

Do you carry a toothbrush with you wherever you go and just not use toothpaste or something?

Chewing gum = picks up a lot of particles for lunch meals not eaten at home

flossing every week isn't that great by the way, at least every other day or buy a waterpik

I gargle with Coke a coupla times a week.

Teeth are as shiny as new pennies!

:D

Na I mostly eat at home or places I have a spare toothbrush there (withtooth paste)

Should I be flossing more?

Never heard of a waterpik, just googled it and it looks interesting. Does it replace brushing and flossing altogther?

Brush in the morning when you get up after breakfast and then at night after you eat. It takes like 2 minutes, there's no reason not to, especially if you're in a relationship. Dating someone with poor dental hygiene is disgusting. Gum helps a little, too.

ITT: OCD

I brush my teeth 3 or 4 times a week, and I have never had a cavity. Nor have I had a problem with women or ever heard a complaint about my breath. Your mouth has its own cleaning system, if you don't fuck it up with coffee, soda, or cigarettes you will be fine. I bet the lot of you obsessive faggots are so worried about all the stupid shit (like your breath) that you can't even talk to women without a panic attack anyway.

>I brush my teeth 3 or 4 times a week
I'd hate to smell your breath.

This is bullshit. I brush twice a day, and still get mad plack, and I don't eat or drink shit.

I haven't brushed my teeth in 3 years, I maybe brush them once every 6 months 1 time. I have no pain or cavities, my teeth may not be white but they are doing their job and thats starting the digestive process so im fine.

>>96711
I fucking second that.
I brush my teeth around 3-4 times a week too, i've never had a cavity, my breath never smells, and my teeth are actually quite white.
I smoke weed and i drink. Alcohol and dark pops.
Honestly, I think it's just a matter of how good your teeth are. some people have teeth that'll stand up to anything, some people have enamel as thin as serran wrap. I've also heard OVERBRUSHING is fucking bad for your teeth, so take that into consideration oral fags. I think all you have to do is do what I do. Not eat chocolate and candy, and don't over-pamper your teeth. They were made to last through evolution, before toothpaste and shit was around. And for you pro-creation bible thumpers, ask yourself why jesus would give you teeth so hard to care for? really?

I brush after i eat sweet things like chocolate or pie so the sugar doesnt stay on my mouth

You know, way back before refined sugar was commonly consumed, dental cavities were quite rare despite poor dental hygiene
>> Anonymous
First of all, your teeth are not designed to last 70 years. Most people in middle ages saw not much more than 35 years.
Secondly, mouth bacteria will feed on everything carbs. That's not only sweets.

so... you're saying... sweets cause cavities?
THIS CAN'T BE TRUE
WHY WOULD YOU LIE TO ME, ANON?!

1/10 people don't need to brush.

I am one of those people, though I still do so my mouth doesn't smell like shit. But if I miss a day or two, or a week, and just chew gum to freshen up, it doesn't seem to matter. I've brushed maybe three times this past month, and more, but not by much the last few, chewing gum to freshen my mouth, and the dentist, who I saw this morning, said that my teeth were the best he's seen in a year. I'm going back in tomorrow for a routine cleaning, and I may be removing my wisdom teeth next month (if they don't keep bothering me I'll cancel as I have places to go, and can't wait around for the appointment.)

Also, never had a cavity in my life, and while I used to brush once, twice a day when I was in grade school, I slowed down and converted to gum if my breath was getting bad high school.

you should do it at least 3 times, 4 if time/location permits:

1. as soon as you wake up (if you eat before brushing teeth, your mouth bacteria from the night will go into your stomach and can make you sick)
2. after breakfast
(3. optional: after lunch)
4. after dinner / before going to bed

Brushing teeth repeatedly actually wears more on the enamel than the accumulated plaque would.

Mouthwash is more important than brushing. Anyone who says differently is retarded.
>> Anonymous
You motherfuckers. I brush and floss twice a day and I still get at least one cavity a year.

I hate you all.
>> Guil
it's easy to have nice teeth as a child if you even attempt to care for them, so you fags need to wait till you're older before commenting on how often to brush

>>97097
I never brush as soon as I wake up and always eat within an hour, the chances of this must be negligible because I get a 3-day cold maybe once every 4 years. It's overcompensation in my opinion, once you wake up your mouth starts salivating again and you end up swallowing some of it unconsciously anyway, unless you happen to rush to the bathroom upon opening your eyes.. but most people I know sort of sit in their bed for a minute or two, and do other shit like take a piss before brushing their teeth (if even before they eat)

tl;dr thats bullshit.

>>96363
i used to brush twice daily (once in AM, once before bed) and then got lazy, only brushed at night...and was still praised by my dentist at how clean I kept my teeth on multiple subsequent checkups. so i stopped brushing in the morning...although, i do use fluoride mouthwash twice daily
>> Anonymous
Ew. So disgusting.

Yes, it's necessary. Build up of plaque and tartar can lead to gingivitis and general disgusting-ness of the teeth.

So just brush you lazy asshole. It's only 1 to 2 minutes every fucking time if you brush the gums, inbetween teeth and on the teeth twice a day.

While on the subject of teeth, if you have light / mild yellow stained teeth do the whitening tooth pastes with baking soda actually work?
>> Anonymous
I only brush my teeth in the morning and floss randomly, and the only fillings I got were for chipping my teeth.
>> Anonymous
I need to brush two or three times a day or my teeth start hurting and my mouth feels dirty.
