Here's why anorexia /unconsumption doesn't work. It turns you skinnyfat, like it did to me for a longass time until /fit/ raged on me for it.

Since then, I've gone from eating <1000 cal a day with vigorous exercise, to eating between 2000 - 2200 of healthy food scatterred with some unforgivably unhealthy food binges every once in a while for the lulz.

I changed nothing in my workout routine, only my eating habits.

Pic is two months worth of progress so far.

You'll be really skinny, have no muscle, but be composed of mostly bodyfat. That is horrible. YOu need functional fitness to make everyday things easier, not to mention make you live a longer happier life.

You need protein, calories, and other nutrients to build (maintain) muscle. As you are working out to lose weight you will be sacrificing some muscle, you need to fight against that at the same time to keep it. If you're talking about STARVING yourself then you will lose muscle, but if you just have a good level of calorie intake you will be A-OK.

nah i'm just trying to drop some pounds. i've started running lately and hopefully that will help out, and /b/ directed me here after I made a thread there asking for advice. What I got from them was to eat a multiple smaller meals a day and just run as much as possible. I'm not looking to gain muscle mass or anything. Just tone up and lose some weight. I'm like 5'11" and 175lbs. I could affort to lose another 10 and be fine.

Yes. Running and eating well will help a lot. Read a lot about nutrition though. Do you want to.... have muscle definition? Be stronger? Or do you only want to lose some weight?

Every has a "six pack". Those are the abdominal muscles, which everyone in fact has. For most people, you can't see them because they're concealed by a layer of subcutaneous fat. The best way to get "definition" on your six pack is to lower your BF%. Of course, there's no such thing as spot reduction, so you'll have to just work at chipping away your BF% the old fashioned way.

tl;dr - eat clean, lift heavy, HIIT, tabata.
