do you really need to be drinking all that sugar?

pros: easier and more delicious than fruit, keeps longer than fruit.
cons: lacks much of fruit's fiber, is more sugary than filling, extremely easy to overcarb on.

i weigh 240 lbs right now (down from 250 10 days ago) and my diet includes a restriction to about 125g carbs daily. i split this up into 5 meals. 2 or 3 of these meals are whey shakes, and i can only include 3 oz of juice in the shake. one full glass of juice is more than half a day's carbs for me. red grape juice is almost all the day's carbs in a 16 oz glass.

so. good for high-carb, high-energy diets, and convenient. bad as hell for losing weight.

Mannnn.

Sometimes I'll mix equal parts soda water and fruit juice and it makes for an excellent soda alternative. Is that really a bad treat?

Might as well just be drinking soda.

The reason fruit is good for you is that the fiber makes digestion of the carbs in it take a long time. Fruit juice has very little to no fiber, and so it's just plain sugar water. Even if it's slightly better for you vitamin and mineral-wise than soda, it's still just shitloads of sugar.

Well of course it is, sugar makes it extremely sweet.

Innocent Smothies, are available here in the UK; they are actually a mix of fruit juice and fruit smoothies. They include all the fruits flesh which is obviously better than plain fruit juice, have no extra bullshit and taste ok.

I might sound like a fucking advertisement but they are better than usual fruit juice.

They're also usually expensive as hell. But agreed nonetheless.

Except they explode when it ferments.

I dont get it, why dont people:

A) Buy fruit and eat
B) Buy fruit and blend it down
C) Buy pure fruit juice without added shit

Everything is such a hassle to everyone these days.

Not really that expensive, pricey compared to the own-brand smothies in supermarkets but not comapred to other brands (tropicana, etc).

I highly recommend the Raspberries, Cranberrys, Boysenberries flavour. The Strawberry and Bannana version is disgusting

I'm a student and £3.00 for a carton is ridiculous

Yeah, it's expensive because and this is just to hazard a guess: fruit is more expnsive than sugar?

i only drink cranberry juice with no sugar, sometimes the mix with pomegranate, not much else. But i eat a crap ton of apples, so i say thats a good coverage for my daily amount of fruit alone.
