Question /fit/

When I try to do squats, even without weights, I get knee pain even if I never go past 90 degrees. I'm not particularly worried about this since

a) I don't have knee pain when running, biking, working on the elliptical, or doing those sitting squat things on a nautilus machine (forgot what that was called)
b) I've had shoulder, elbow, and lower back pain in the past which went away after I trained for a bit.

I figure my knees are just weak, but I'd rather strengthen them up a bit more carefully since both my dad and sis have bum knees, and I'd rather keep mine healthy for a long time if I can. Anyone know decent exercises to strengthen the knees that don't put a lot of pressure on them?

In return, a balanced breakfast.

You're not supposed to put all the strain on your knees. It's most probably because your form is INCORRECT. watch and learn

OP

Does it feel like a sharp pain behind your knee cap?

IT band, stretch it. Go talk to someone who would know how to show you. If you're limber enough, sit on the ground, grab your left foot w/ your right hand, try to straighten your leg (not necessary to go all the way), & pull to the right. You should feel it on the outside of your leg.

Hmm, that may be part of the problem. Just did a few like in the vid and my knee only hurts a tiny bit.

No, it's sort of a tightness/pain on the front inner side of the knee. Sometimes if I push it it'll extend upwards an inche towards my quads.
