guys, I work at a blood bank, and due to OSHA regulations I have to wear gloves all the time.

at the lab, they have boxes of disposable latex gloves which are the ones I use. I have been using them for more than a year now.

yesterday, there was a little red spot that itched a lot. i thought it was a mosquito bite so I did what I always do: scratch it till I get a bruise (that way it stops itching, the bruise heals and problem solved; easier than having to deal with itchiness 24/7). However, the itch never stopped and now my wrist is all red and swollen. I think it is actually a rash.

It is horrible. It's like having 10 mosquito bites in the same place. It itches like a motherfucker.

Do you think it is an allergic reaction to the latex gloves??? and more urgently, how do I stop the itching??

pic unrelated (I wasn't ging to post the photo of a rash)

I use latex gloves a lot, what you have is probably more of a dermatitis than an allergic reaction.

Moisturize, see if they have vinyl gloves, do you have employee health at your biz? They help out us RNs when we get reactions.

Also be careful which moisturizer you use. It can break down the glove.
