Doing that diet again is definitely better than gaining weight. If you decide to vary things, just be logical about it.
Don't trade out apple juice for orange soda, haha. Try orange juice or V8 Splash or white grape juice or a smoothie. If you get sick of chicken soup, try tomato soup or a can of tuna fish.
Fish and chicken and soy and beans are better than beef. Unsalted nuts are a great source of protein. Fruits and veggies are always good, preferably fresh instead of frozen or canned. Rice and Couscous are good. Wheat bread is better than white bread or rolls.
Avoid stuff like TV dinners, fast food, chips, fried anything, etc. And make sure not to suddenly eat larger quantities if you switch to new foods -- just keep it the same as whatever was working before in terms of the amount eaten.
