Sets x reps Anonymous
I am of medium build. I am not skinny, very slightly on the overweight side, and have little to nothing in the way of muscle tone or definition. I have been weightlifting for a couple of weeks now and have a question:

Regarding Bench Presses, Military Presses, SQUATZ, Pendlay Rows, and Deadlifting sets x reps:

5x6 (or 6x5?)
versus 3x10

What are the pros and cons of each sort of set/rep combination? What should the optimum break time between each set be?

Please educate me, anon. I would appreciate it muchly!

It's simple, you get what you train for.
If you train 5 reps, you'll get better at lifting heavy stuff for 5 reps. This is for greater strength.
If you train for 10 reps, you'll get better at lifting heavy stuff for 10 reps.
This is for more endurance in lifting.
You won't be able to lift as much as with 5x5, but'll get more stamina.

Use this as a GENERAL GUIDELINE, there are other facts that come into play but this should give you an idea of how to use the rep/set scheme that best fits your goals

What sort of break period between lifting works the best?

In a strenght based routine, long rest periods (2+ min)
In a hypertrophy based routine, medium rest periods(1-2 min)
For endurance work, short rest periods(30sec-1min)
