Any of you have a gym membership? Anonymous
I injured my leg last year from running and the shit is still fucked up. As a result I can't run anymore. I used to run 5 miles a day, 20 miles a week. After I stopped, I began to gain weight slowly. Five months later, I'm 15 pounds heavier. Right now I'm 5'8" and 162 pounds. Not terribly huge, but I feel like a greasy fatass.

So I've decided to invest in a gym membership. I'm a poorfag so this is a pretty big decision. The last time I toured a gym, the fuckers hounded my telephone for a MONTH, every single day. Basically I want to join a place that will leave me the fuck alone, and allow me to pay for my membership if I so choose (or whether I don't choose to). Would I be best off with: a small local fitness center, joining the YMCA, or a big chain like Powerhouse?

YMCA won't bother you.

I know it varies a lot, but do they usually have pretty good equipment? Like free weights, machines, etc?

It's dependent upon the YMCA in the first place. It's a "chain", but once everything is settled and the owner of the YMCA owns the building- he can choose to add whatever implements he wants.

That's why Gold's Gyms vary so heavily. I hear there's even Gold's with rubber bumpers and olympic rings. I call bs until I see it myself, though.
