I have a sleep problem. As opposed to the more common sleep deprivation, My sleep is like a marathon. I sleep extremely deeply and if left unbothered, my body won't wake up until I've had 10-12hrs of sleep. Sure, the deepness part has advantages, but I rarely hear my alarm clocks (3 separate cell phone alarms AND a clock radio turned to maximum volume.) I'm late for work almost every day, and on weekends I waste half the day sleeping.

I've had trouble finding any decent resources on the internet. My google searches are primarily flooded by people with the opposite problem. Any advice? Medications?

Before I'm told to get to bed at a regular/decent time, I usually do... I can go to bed at 4AM and wake up easier at 8AM than if I went to bed at 11PM. I know it has a lot to do with sleep cycles... but it's like I don't have a cycle, just progressively deeper and deeper until 10hrs.

make a machine (ruben goldberg or whatever) that activates upon alarm, and then drop a dumbell onto you or slap you across the face, or pour water on you.

Better get your liver checked out.

leave your blinds open. the light from the sunlight will tell your body to wake up in the same way as darkness tells you to go sleep.

(OP) i'm pretty sure my only window is on the west side of the house... i don't think that would help anyhow... i'm so oblivious when i'm asleep. My dad used to yell at me from in my room and I wouldn't react at all.

Liver? really?
