hey /fit/, i have a simple aim: to get stronger.
i have a fair idea as to what i need to do on the cardio side but i am completely lost when considering weights.
i don't have any at home and i don't have a gym membership- won't swimming be enough?
ps: i'm also vegetarian, do i need extra protein supplements?

join a gym, get starting strength and do the program in it

Extra protein is not necessary but helpfull, since veretarians don't usually eat a lot of whey protein. Also take some creatine, a vegetarian diet lacks creatine.

you NEEEEEEEED protein to recover. I am a trainer (not at ballys) and I have seen lack of development from lack of focus, lack of determination, and insignificant amount of protein intake. If you train, TRAIN HARD. If you train hard, EAT MORE. at least increase the amount of nuts/ milk/ cheese you eat if you dont get a protein supplement.

progressive resistance: every week that goes by (for a while) increase either the number of sets, reps or time under tension (for static hold work).

DEADLIFT: learn it.

SQUATS: do them A LOT.

bench pressing: do you plan on being a powerlifter? Then stick to exercises you can do standing up. (i.e. overhead pressing)

go read an article if you are still lost.
