I know this is a stupid question, but if I'm trying to a) first gain muscle and then b) get definition, what is the best way to do that?

Should I concentrate on weights only for awhile, and then start doing cardio?

Do cardio, always.

First Bulk. Bulking means eatting a shitton of calories a day, but it does not mean that you have to pig out or eat at mc donalds.
Then Cut. Cutting means going on a diet.

Doing both of these at the same time, while possible, isn't economic from the perspective of time or effort required.

That is how body builders do it.

The most common method is 3 months of bulking and 1 month of cutting. Alot of people will tell you that there is no need for bulking and cutting but they're mostly crossfit fags and ectomorphs who naturally have no bodyfat

To gain muscle: Eat a lot of protein, probably around 200grams a day. Next carbs, then fats. Eat like 3000 calories a day.

Once sufficiently strong, lose weight by cutting calories. Maintain high protein diet.
