"Doing different exercises or doing them in a new order breaks a plateu"

Sounds like a load of horse shit to me. Is there any truth to this what so ever scientifically? Or is it just one of those things so you don't get bored and a common myth like spot reduction and "training lower abs/lower pecs"

nope. infact many top trainers preach periodization, so plateaus are elevated naturally, and your routine doesnt get stale.

Sounds reasonable to me. The way I like to break a plateau is just by taking a week break though. I go to the gym pretty often so I plateau every couple of months due to over working out.

Spot reduction also sounds reasonable until it was proven otherwise.

Doing different exercises, targets a bigger range of muscles. Stronger muscles all around the area > You can get the muscle group you are targeting the most stronger as well.

Was stupid, benched, but pretty much ignored my back. Stoped getting any results.

Friend called me an idiot, added a few back exercises = Destroyed my "seemed to be plateau" on bench press and added additional 40lbs to it.
