sup /fit/, I was hoping to ask any PKers or freerunners whats the best way to get started on building up my body for either sport. I don't plan to get started on any of the technique until I get to uni, which will be in about 3 weeks.

My current gym routine is to do a warm up run for a few km until my chest starts to hurt, followed by a rowing machine (increasing my distance 50m each day) After that, I work abs on a crunch machine, chest with free and fixed weights, bicep curls and that fixed weight shoulder lift thingy (sorry).

I've read around and seen that chin ups are vital exercises, but my gym doesn't have that kind of facility, and I couldn't do it anywhere in my home. What would be an acceptable alternative?

As for diet...I don't make any special arrangements for my current routine, but is there anything I need to consider for building up to freerunning?

Also, are there any basic exercises/techniques I could do in my own home just to practise?

Thanks for any answers you can give.

you don't have to be all hard core when you do it. take it slow at first. i have a bit of extra padding if you know what i mean, you dont have to be cut like bruce lee.

That's good to know. Right now I'm having trouble getting my muscle to show through my 'padding'.

No sub for chinups, find some place that you can do them. Also, one-legged pistols will help just about everything as well as one-armed pushups. Also, vertical dips and just about any exercise that makes you use your whole body, squatz, deadliftz, etc will also contribute.

Good luck, work hard.

If you can't do them right away, work up to them, because this man's plan will make you a badass.

Your gym doesn't have a chin up bar? Go to another gym. Also door frame, mutherfucker, do you have one!!?

Beginning free-runner here.

Get lean muscle, don't bulk up. And before MEGASQUATZ!! you need to be very very flexible. Being able to carry a car won't help when you are jumping off of a building. If you aren't flexible enough you are going to tear a tendon or some shit.

Thanks guys, this is awesome stuff. One more thing, I've only recently began my actual gym workout, so I don't know much about varous ways muscle can be built. Someone mentioned 'lean muscle' and flexibility. How should I be working out to promote these? Lots of quality low weight reps, or high weight reps?

Basically what he's talking about is stuff from The Naked Warrior.

I just started using some of these concepts and exercises (it's more than just a couple exercises) and I can tell you, it's good stuff.

You really should read his program, though, he has many techniques to turn what seems like an easy workout into a real ass-kicker. I'm sore as fuck in places I didn't know I could be sore.
