Pigging Out Anonymous
What's /fit/ opinion on pigging out? Let's say you eat healthy most of the time. Perhaps every now and then you pig out a lot at once with junk food. I'm not talking about puking it back up, but actually eating it.

Does this put on a ton of extra weight or just a little while most of the food just passes through the body?

Can this significantly stall weight loss if it's only done every few weeks or even longer?

On Friday I ate nothing but (low fat) ice cream... although technically the ben and jerrys was frozen yogurt. I didn't over eat, but it was a shit ton of carbs that I don't normally eat. Plus, I'm a psycho when it comes to food. I gained some water weight back.

I ate half of this beast one time. Usually I eat healthy as can be, and at the time I was working on losing bodyfat while eating ~1900 cal a day. Oddly enough, eating this monster pizza all in one go, while making me feel like shit, felt pretty fucking good, and the next day made me feel fully recovered from all my weeks of lifting on a slight caloric deficit. Something about hormone production, I believe... but fuck me, I don't know.

As long as it is a very rare occurrence, I usually don't think there's anything wrong with a pig out, so long as you work off the extra calories.

Nah, there's no problem. People easily eat a pound or more on thanksgiving dinner, but do they gain a pound? no. They gain about 1/5th of a pound. It takes just as much time to put on weight as it does to lose it (in the case of fat).

I always pig out on relatively healthy food once a month or when I get stuck trying to cut, usually gives me that extra push to lose another lb or 2.Two steps forward, one step back
