hey /fit/ I've got a question to ask.

for a while now I've started the whole "get /fit/" thing, by completely changing my diet and going to the gym and working out. I've lost a few pounds but right now I haven't been able to lose anything (only lost about 5/10lbs).
I was told that it could be from doing to much, the most that I do is half an hour of cardio and about 1 to 1 1/2hrs of weight training, switching from upper body to lower body every other day. I was told to do just cardio one day and just weights the next day for the entire week (except one day for a day of rest). But when I did that I didn't FEEL like I worked out at all.

Am I fine at what I'm doing or should I change it?

Try breaking up your muscle groups into different workouts, instead of doing a shitload of stuff every day. I'd recommend something like:

DAY 1 -- chest & tricep
- bench
- flies
- tricep kickbacks
- etc
- and then a bit of cardio

DAY 2 -- back & bicep
- curls
- bent over rows or lat pulldowns
- some kind of forearm exercise
- etc
- another bit of cardio

I do 3x12 reps, but I go in a pretty slow pace then I see lots of other people do, I keep thinking if I just rush through it then I won't get as good of a workout

Where's your leg day? Squats, calf raises, leg press?

Please don't neglect your legs!

I do calf shit on my run days and quad shit on my erg days. My legs are more developed than any other part of my body (used to run track).

I didn't list them since I do that stuff along with ab work in between upper body sets, but yeah it's important. And doing hard cardio will help your practical leg strength as much as anything (running sprints, running stairs, rowing sprints, etc).

Do not fucking ignore your legs.

Once you get your quads builing (biggest muscle), you release growth hormones that will improve your results in other areas of your body.

would it really matter if you did cardio before weights?

Nah, just as long as you do it. I do it after because it exhausts me and I'd rather be fresh for my strength exercises rather than dripping with sweat and fatigue, but that's just preference.

I always thought it was more beneficial if your heart rate was at the intense fat burning rate (mine would be 160, as I'm 20 years old, not sure about you)? So cardio first would be better.
