You can't change the shape of muscles, that's genetic, closes you can come is increases size of specific heads of muscle by highly targetted training, even then, that's a small difference.

Tnation will kick the shit out of any book\vid that claims to increase "tone" and give oyu "long lean" muscles or any other bullshit.

Tone as you know it, is the body fat.

Shaping muscles, is simply the size of them and genetics.

I love it how people want to tone fat. no way, you gotta BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE COMMON ADVICE:

1. Well, if that is a real person in the picture, at some point he was 20lbs more than that with excess fat on his body, which he gained after lifting heavy for an extended duration- then cut the fat (to reveal the muscle he has built underneath) by doing grueling exercise to look like you see him now.
OR
2. he has an athletic background, and has been doing that for his entire life- you cannot reproduce this within a few months of even years by doing the routine he has done for a lifetime.

WHICH LEADS TO
3. Why lift heavy you ask? Why compound movements like deadlifts squats and bench? I mean, they don't really help in the real world lol whats the point, plus they look totally dangerous.

Its quite simple my dear, gaining lean muscle is not easy unless you have great genetics, if you had great genetics you would not be in your current predicament.

Compound lifts are like curls for your entire body, all at once. It's not about 'feeling the burn' or whatever, its about waking up the next day sore as fuck, tearing every muscle in your body in half so it can be rebuilt twice the size; gaining mass, so in 6 months, 1 year, whatever it may be you look like a fat kid who plays football- then you cut the fat in a few weeks of intense exercise to reveal the 'lean muscle look' underneath.

its a simple concept, well accepted in bodybuilding for a very long time. It's pretty much how every guy you see that's ripped got that way (unless he has the genetics that enable him to quickly gain lean muscle), and its a basic hurdle many people have to realistically face- if they want to change their physique.

You can't sculpt muscle out of fat. At the moment, you are just a pile of fat, no muscle underneath. NONE. So, to sculpt your body- we reveal a skinnier fat version of you. Which is true for a lot of the skinny guys on this board- they are just a 50 or 100lb or 150lb smaller version of you.

You won't in your wildest dreams end up looking like a bodybuilder, accidentally. (unless you have some crazy muscular disease, like that little baby who can do 20 chinups)

The disease isn't a disease, it's a genetic condition that means his body doesn't produce sufficient myostatin (muscular growth inhibator)

This means they're continually growing new muscle tissue (think like HGH, without the gut) so their muscles and tendons are fucking dense as hell and have the strength to show for it. Michael lockett is assumed to be myostatin defficient, dude eats 2 shitty meals a day, barely works out and looks like he's been juicing for half a lifetime. (SICK calves too) and his conditioning is like <think about getting cut> SHIT I CAN SEE MY BRAIN THROUGH MY SKULL.
