Progression thread 1: The Beginning Progression_Guy !!CZWKtQba4Y6
Alright people, let's get this thing started. Just so we're clear here are some rules.

1. This is the beginning of week 1 of 8. Next Friday will be the end of week 1 and after that the end of week 2 and so on. At the end of week 8 we'll have the final thread and see how far we've come. Updated collages come on Saturdays.

2. All pictures for your progression need to be posted with your tripcode on. (Put your name#password in the name field and please make sure your password isn't "tripcode".)

3. Along with your picture please post your goals and current stats.

4. No skipping a week. Post it even if you think you haven't changed. If you do skip you'll have a nice big gaping hole in your picture path on the collage for everyone to see on Saturday.

That's pretty much it for rules.

The spot for each picture on the collage is going to be 360 x 480 pixels. Your picture won't be stretched or mishapen but I will change them if I need to in order to fit them into the slot. My picture with this post is that exact size so keep it in mind when you take yours. Also, you should try to take it in the same lighting each time since it can affect how you look substantially.

You could also save me some trouble by resizing it yourself but it's not needed.
Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

Since I'm a fatty and have no upper body strength (I couldn't do a single full pull-up/chin-up) I'll put my goals as:

5'11", 151.6 lbs, 12% body fat.

I'm trying to get to 170. I'm more interested in useful muscle than esthetic but filling out an 8 pack would be nice. The bottom 2 muscles don't seem to seperate and I'm not sure if they should or if the surgery I had fucked them up or something.

Video was easier than figuring out the timer on someone else's camera. I tried not to flex at the start for a better comparison in the future.

Any suggestions for what I should work on are welcome. I have a rack, bench, bar, and dumbells. I only bench 145 or so.

There really is no \"set number\" on how much you can gain a week, month or year. There are just too many variables that can impact your muscle gain in pounds.

For the average person on a fair diet and without supplementation, 1 pound a month is a normal gain and 2 pounds a month is a considerable gain. Now dont forget im talking about just pure muscle.
Also the difference with clean bulking and normal bulking is in the fat/muscle gain ratio. With normal bulking you are expected gain more fat than muscle in pounds. This happens because you are trying to supply your body with all the possible nutrients it could want and all that excess turns to fat. Clean bulking means you are strictly watching your diet in order to give yourself just enough energy to lift and repair muscles and minimize any excess, but even with this you will still gain some fat, just it will be much less.

Start counting calories again and up the cardio to 45 minutes or more. Also with your cardio you should try different types when possible. Changing up the lifting routine can also help.

Also if you scroll up you'll find a link to a book that might be helpful. Skimming through and paying attention to the main ideas it is all that is really required so no heavy reading.

Also with creatine supplementation water is drawn into your muscles and this adds to muscle size and weight gain but no fat gain. With creatine supplementation I imagine it is possible to gain about a pound every two weeks. Though this will be water gain and you will lose that weight gain after you cycle off creatine.

That being said, my 7 pound gain with clean bulking is entirely possible. It will be very difficult and I will have to push myself to the edge, but it can be done.

Go down to "Body Average Density Measurement". It's not an exact measurement, but almost nothing is exact with BFP.

Yeah with BMI I'm /still/ underweight (I used to be skeletal basically due to a metabolic disorder) when I'm supposed to be FINE now.

Sorry, didn't realize you didn't have access to a gym.

The basic tenet still holds though. To put on muscle mass, you want to be doing everything to failure, with your reps being under 8. Anything more than that is generally considered to be working endurance, which won't increase muscle mass.

Like if you're doing pushups, there have been a few threads about the variations to increase difficulty, such as one handed pushups, or wearing a backpack full of bricks or books etc.

I'm pretty sure he means the areola by saying "area around the nipples". As a girl, I have quite large areolae and I also fucking hate 'em. I'm probably going to get surgery, unless they shrink with my weight loss. Anyone know if this will in fact happen?
>> Lietuvis !oN65izwBP6

>> Anonymous

Bah. Don't listen to the detractors. I've known lots of girls 5'0" and anywhere from 95lbs to 115lbs is great and acceptable. If you tone and your weight goes up a little bit, don't worry or stop. You'd probably look absolutely perfect at a toned 105.
>> Anonymous
>>28927
>>28928
First - areolas. They may or may not go down. See my other post. They get large because they get stretched out. As you lose weight, the elasticity in the skin will allow everything to tighten up. Odds are probably better than 50/50 they get smaller, but I dont want to make false promises.

As for working the chest - yes do that, and do deltoids (shoulders) as well, but spot reduction is iffy at best. You need a balance of weight lifting and cardio to achieve maximal fat loss and definition/reduction in fat on your chest.
>> Ego !ALkmCt2Pww
>>28910

Youve got to have something to tone before you can actualy tone.
Either way its hard to get too muscular, so just stop worrying about getting bulky and lift some weight.
You seem like you have a good amount of knowledge about nutrition, so put that to good use in getting the results you want.
>> scarfag !VLy5rQh4oU
>>28910
it's difficult for women to put on muscle, so don't worry about gaining too much of it. you're certainly not going to wake up one day and say "i have too much muscle, i look awful!" slow process, you'll know when you've reached where you want to be.
>> OkayzIrIn !LQz4LF5yKE
>>28924

If you lose one pound per week or so you should be fine, if you go all bulimic you might be in some trouble.

It's still friday, I swear.
I'm about 6'11". Currently ~153.
I'm not really sure where my ideal weight is.
I've been as high as 165, over a year ago, but without much muscle. Was down to 143 a few months ago, but that wasn't healthy at all.

As far as goals go, defined abs are my only real.. definite goal. Just more defined muscle overall, i guess. Hope to be able to bench more and run longer. Been considering integrating swimming into my workouts, but fear of incorrect form puts me off.

Awesome, been looking for something to motivate me... maybe this will do the trick -
Current stats:
Weight - ~165 lbs.
Height - 6'1"
Bench - 3X12 @ 135 lbs., only maxxed once so far @ 165 early on
Abs - Can only do about half of the regimen my friend wrote out for me... ~20 crunches per set.

Goals:
Bench - Not sure what a good goal here is to be honest.. I guess 180 would be a good start, not sure how feasible it is though.
Weight - Exchange fat for muscle in torso, get overall buildup in upper-body muscle. Numbers don't matter to me.
Abs - successfully complete "500 crunches" workout

Also, I've been focusing mostly on low weights high reps. I'd rather be cut than HUEG.
I used to just bench the bar until I couldn't lift it anymore. But I've recently started doing sets of 100lb X5. Some website I found with weight class standards told me I should be doing much more. Is low weight/high reps VS vice versa the topic for some other thread?
