hey there, this is my first time to /fit/ and i was wondering if i could get some advice, im over weight and i know its a major health risk so i try to lose my weight and get in shape, but i lack any sort of drive to accomplish this task, i have tried self motivation but it always fails me, i have tried getting help from my brother and family but they never seem to want to do the things i want to (they prefer to play xbox rather than go for a run with me), im not sociable and i hate group activities, i limit my food-intake to one meal a day and 1 or 2 snacks, i just need some drive (emotional back up and motivation) is there anything you guys suggest to help me?

When is the last time you exercised so hard you sweated like a pig and could barely stand afterwards? Also your food plan is bad and you should feel bad. Why do you want to be hungry all day?

Limiting yourself to one meal a day slows down you metabolism. You would be better of eating several smaller meals/snacks instead of just one.

I can tell you what motivates me, although my fitness goal is to gain weight rather than lose it.
I find the best way is to be surrounded by fitness-related things throughout the day. For example, I'll read a men's health article about nutrition, get excited about waking up early so I can get a proper breakfast, then I'll look forward to my workout as a means of relieving stress and putting those calories to work.
So what I'd suggest to you is to educate yourself on losing weight, spend more time each day doing something related to fitness like reading up on nutrition, proper exercise, or going to the grocery store and buying healthy foods.

The internet is a great resource. menshealth.com has always treated me right. and you don't necessarily need a health food store to get the diet you need, I'm sure other anons can better explain the diet that would work best for you, but frequent, small meals are a good idea. As for the food itself, the more natural the better: fruits and oatmeal. I'm sure you already know to avoid foods high in carbs or fats. Running would be most efficient when done in the morning, before you've had anything to eat.

Studies have shown that if you more small meals a day you will see better results in wheight loss. It is said that when you skip meals your metabolism will slow to that of when you are asleep. So eat your 3 meals a day moderate portions and healthy snacks such as fruits and vegies through out the day. As for motivation get a friend to work out with you. I found that to help me stay motivated. Set goals that are realistic, start small so that you do not discourage yourself and remember do not wheigh yourself for the first couple of weeks because if you do any toning exercises you are going to gain wheight before lossing it.
