Well, I have athlete's foot on both my feet, between the smallest toe and its neighbour. It has been recurring after two rounds of annihilation.

Now, how the flying fuck do I get rid of it FOREVER!?

Wash your fucking feet moar. Moisturise

depends on your living conditions.
Go swimming every day?
Do you wear the same old shoes everyday?

After you get rid of it, buy a new pair of shoes and wash out your bathtub with bleach. Get shower shoes if you live with others.

Don't swim, but use army boots regularly (service, yay...), and they don't breathe at all, so my feet get all wet each and every day.

why would you moisturize? the fungus responsible needs humidity. moisturizing just adds to the humidity in the shoe.

clean the fuck out of your shower; bleach, mildew remover and a brush with the stiffest sisal bristles you can find.

wear cheap water-proof sandals in public showers like the gym if you have to use them.

go through a over-the-counter regimen of the strongest anti-fungal for athlete's foot.

use foot powder daily after showering once you complete the anti-fungal treatment. you want your feet dry for as long as possible.

in the upcoming summer months, wear open sandals as much as possible. or go barefoot.

buy new gym shoes regularly (or what ever kind of shoe makes your feet sweat significantly). if not an option, have a few pairs of shoes, and alternate them daily, letting the just used pair air dry and then put foot powder in them.

basically, kill the fungus, remove places for it to hide and keep your feet in a condition that does not let the fungus regrow.

if you have the fungus under your toenails, see a podiatrist.

This.
Also, I used to have it all the time. I lived in a tropical country then.

Then I moved to Europe, and it's ben gone ever since.

Conclusion: Move to Europe.

OP here, and I already live in Europe. I have some talcum powder I will put on every day along with my socks, as well as putting on the daily salve twice a day. When the mungus disappears next, I'll keep using the salve for forty days.

Will I win, /fit/?

I'm not the anon that posted, but I would say that the reason for moisturising is the same reason why people with greasy hair needs to use more conditioner: the more you dry out your foot, the more your body will sweat and overcompensate. It's as simple as that.

Look, you keep putting all these creams and shit on your feet, but have you been disinfecting your FOOTWEAR?

You have to disinfect every bit of your footwear and completely dry it out. That includes shoes, shocks, boots, sandals, WHATEVER. Heck, it may even be time to replace some of the shoes you cannot easily disinfect.

Also, after you're cured, start using moisturiser on your feet. The more you dry your feet out, the more your feet will overcompensate by sweating.
