Hi /fit/.

I am about 177cm/5.9-10 feet and weigh about 72 kg/159 pounds.
I'm not very well in shape, I'd say I'm skinny-fat and I hate it. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the love handles, since my other body parts don't look very out of proportion, but well, the handles just make me look ugly topless.
I started working out about 3 months ago and I am seeing results, especially on my arms, chest and legs, so I'd say I have a fair bit of muscle mass.
However, my main goal was getting rid of the love handles, and that simply didn't work. I probably did it all wrong, since I mainly lifted and did little to no cardio.
My current diet is very unstable. I tried eating a big bowl of mixed salad + bread each day the past week, but noticed it had me eating all day long because it was too much while still only providing for some 1000 calories, and that's not quite the way to go, or is it?

Basically, I need advice on:

- How to get rid of the love handles (lose fat)
- What to eat to accompany and support the weight loss
- How to work out

Picture somewhat related, it's not me, but it gives a good general idea of what my upper body looks like, except bigger love handles.

Go to stronglifts, read all their shit and start the 5x5.
Do cardio, bike, swim, run.
Lower your caloric intake by only 500 under your caloric daily needs.
You don't want to starve, ever.
Eat healthy, get protein.

Fat burns equally from all parts of your body. Men store the most fat in their midsection. Therefore, it takes the longest to remove.

Do cardio.

Eat a liberal amount of mono and poly unsaturated fats. Eat a good amount of protein and whole grains. Drink a lot of water.

Do cardio.

Do cardio.

Do cardio.

Don't bother with long boring cardio, it will work just not that fast. Do shit like burpees with a pushup at the bottom, circuits where you're going from one exercise to the next with no rest in between. When you life weights engage in active rest, meaning do crunches or jumping jacks in between sets. Pyramid sets of pushups and pullups, and of course the best of all HIIT

First of all this picture ain't you. The man in this picture clearly weighs more than 159 lbs and is clearly taller than 5'10"

OP here,
Yeah, note my last sentence in the first post. I said it's not me, but no picture = no new topic, + idea of general shape etc...

Anyways, thanks for the advice, I read the stronglifts stuff, it sounds good. I was going to start going to the gym again tomorrow anyway, so I will start right away and do the 5x5 beginner thing and stick to the diet proposed in the "How to lose fat fast" article. I just hope I'll do the exercises correctly, so far I've mostly used machines, which isn't such a good idea, as it seems.
