Calorie Intake? Anonymous
Hello Anon,
Just found out that the work firewall allows me to get to the site. I'm looking at cutting a significant amount of weight, I'm 5'5'' and around 200-210 pounds. I've cut calories down to less than 1,200 a day but after trolling a bit, it looks like I should upping that. Especially since I gained about ten pounds in less than a month (I really don't know, it pissed me off). So the question is, for someone my height (I'm a dude as well) short stocky build...how much should I be eating? Does anyone have a good diet plan I should follow? Thanks in advance.

depends how active you are.
a working man needs 2500 cal per day on average.
a lumberjack at least 3000 cal.
Anyway, try to go with 2000 cals.
That way you won't go into starvation mode and still lose some fat over time.

I'm a computer technician, so for most of my day I sit around in my cubicle and watch movies. For the last three weeks however, the weather is getting nicer so I've been walking after lunch for at least a mile, and then after work I go and run at the gym and do some weight lifting. 2,000 cals is going to be a bountiful feast compared to what I've been eating.

you should not feel hungry. 1200 or less is starvation and will only lead to a rebound in fat gain.
Eat 6 meals a day, so that you don't go into starve-mode.Avoid sugar, avoid fat and stay a bit below your daily calory need.
You should not try to lose more than 2 pounds per week.

That's some seriously bad and outdated advice. Don't avoid fat. Keep it in moderation just like carbs and protein.

protein should not be kept in moderation

Meh, it's all subjective. I weigh 148 and get about 200 grams a day, which ends up being about 25% of my calories. After a certain point your body doesn't even absorb the protein, so it's a waste of money which is a big deal for a broke ass college student like myself.
