Hello /fit/,

I'm severely lactose intolerant and also have a milk protein allergy. As such, if I have milk products of any sort, I get gas, bloating, stench, sweats from heat generated in bowels, and phlegm. Also explosive poops. I typically avoid milk products, but sometimes they slip in (butter and cream in cooked foods, usually).

I've tried lactaid, but it barely works. I've also tried papaya extract, and that worked for a while, but then gave up.

tl;dr What is the best thing for lactose intolerance besides abstinence?

I have a milder form, I just get gas. It's genetic, so just keep abstaining. Getting the craps ain't worth it.

milk is for babies. Real men drink beer.

A lactase supplement would help with the intolerance, but not with the casein allergy... So, no milk for you. Really, don't even need it. You can get plenty of calcium from vegetables (spinach, broccoli, leeks, etc.). If you're doing something like Starting Strength and have eat a lot of calories to gain weight, start drinking 1-2oz of olive oil with every meal (nasty stuff, but it works and it's cheap), and add a bit more protein.
