Convincing the girl... Boosh
Hey /f/ I love my girl. Probably gonna marry her. She's beautiful but is not happy with her weight, like the pic on the left but 10x hotter.

Three years ago I went from 325lb to 225lb(6'5) in over a summer. Iunno.. life was trolling me and i raged =P. The following three years of girlfriends and lots of working i managed to lose at least 10 lbs of muscle and get up to 245lbs. Now that I finally have the free time, I want to get in proper hot sexy nakedness good shape. And I want her to do it with me.

Problem is, my drive to lose the original 100lbs was all fueled by anger and self loathing (to present day self loving =D). But now I'm all happy, mostly because of the girl. And while she really wants to lose the weight, she wants direction, but not aggression.

/f/, I basically want your experiences with losing weight with your signifigant other, and ideas for things we can do. I'm also gonna ask in /food/ about diet stuff, but any recomendations for healthy snacks (we're stoner snackers) are welcome.

So far one of the best things I can think of is getting into martial arts together.

So do you want us to put all of our tips into a flash animation for you, or what?

/f/ sucks, and /fit/ looks stupid, so I'm just gonna start something and call this /f/.

you should ignore the above post and just problly start with a low intensity workout 3-4 times a week like a 30-60min walk and slowly build that up to a jog and then a run -_- maby increasing distances etc, just do what you think will cause you to both feel good and stff, imo go to a gym there all good :)

First things first, cover your ass. Tell her "you don't think she needs to lose the weight, but you'll support her in any way you can", which will pretty much put give you command over the situation.

>getting into martial arts together
Unless you're both really into it, don't. Quality instruction is expensive, and since you have to conform to the instructors schedule, you're both going to be more likely to miss workouts due to scheduling conflicts, work, etc.

Just start her doing really light cardio and resistance workouts; walking/jogging, and some basic bodyweight exercises or a dumbbell routine, all of which you can do with her. If you're in better shape than she is, just go farther, use heavier weights, etc. Also, make sure to keep her diet in check.

The big thing is going to be whether she's self-motivated or not. If she's strong, she'll be able to jog and or go to the gym by herself, take care of her shit, and stick to her diet.
If not, then you're going to have to set aside more time, and hold her hand through all of it.

Good luck to the both of you.

may I suggest you keep track of everything you eat in a food log.

Some people get jealous of seeing others (often cases their significant other) bettering themselves, so she might resent you for losing weight faster than her, and vice versa. It's a reeeeeeeeeally dicey issue.

My personal suggestion:

1. food log- write down everything you eat every day, good or bad.

2. take naked unflattering photos of each other (or atleast closeups of the parts of you you dislike), put the pictures up in the toilet, kitcken, bedroom- where-ever you will see it EVERY DAY, this is your motivation

3.Train together AND alone. Take walks together, let the walks become jogs, let the jogs become runs. Motivate each other to exercise if only a little bit every day, if you are not feeling up to it, it's her job to push you and vice versa.

4. Have an alone day- training together especially if you live together can become frustrating, so have a set day where you both relax, don't workout and just do whatever you normally like to do- but away from each other

5. Do yoga, I can't recommend this enough, you can download audio lessons online and just chillout in your backyard and follow along

6. Take some cooking lessons. Many restaurants offer open nights where the head chef gives some presentations and teaches you some finer points of cooking your own food, it is a fun and engaging way to learn to cook together as a couple

7. Be more adventurous, do fun active stuff you would normally avoid because of your weight

8. Change for yourselves and each other- not for how other people see you. Your goal should be to become healthy and fitter, not worry about dropping weight every week or fretting about a cheat meal you just ate. With a healthy and active lifestyle your quality of life will improve.

can't think of anything else, good luck

You understand the problem OP. You feel satisfied with how things are.

DONT DO THAT.

You will lose The Game.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS *HATE* the current state of your body. Focus on your imperfections. You can always find motivation from self loathing.
