sup /fit/.

With strength building being the goal should I go with a split that's something like ABCD and repeat (with A being squats/lower body, B being bench/upper body, C being deads/core and D being rest) or should I just go with the ABA/BAB of Rippetoe?

For novice strength training, it's pretty damn hard to beat Rippetoe's program.

Starting Strength with black tar heroin is what you should do.

If you just want to get stronger, try rippetoes till you can squat 225, then starr 5x5 till you can squat 315, then do westside or sheiko

This fag doesn't understand the basic principles of novice and intermediate program design. OP might not be able to gain strength with a novice program past a 185lb squat, or he might be 6'5" 250 and able to use novice programming to get to a 405lb squat.

OP, continue with SS until you have had to deload a couple of times, and can no longer increase weight on a workout to workout basis. Then switch to an intermediate program. Starr 5x5 is good, but I prefer the Texas method.

Okay, so where do I find this Texas method, and what's a reliable source of black tar heroin?

Practical Programming by Mark Rippetoe explains the TM quite thoroughly. Strengthmill.com forums have some good stuff about it as well.
