Hey /fit/, here goes nothing ...

I'm midway through College and I think I want to go ahead as Personal Trainer. But when I see something like this on the tubes (and no, it ain't a shoop), I can't stop thinking ...

Are Trainers supposed to be miracle workers when hired by this kind of customer? There's only so much controlled exercising will help if you begin IN YOUR FUCKING 50s!

Yes.

I think you should take English instead. Neither college, nor personal trainer are pronouns.

Strictly speaking, "personal trainer" could be used as a proper noun if it is being referred to as a title.

It's also a legitimate literary device to make proper nouns out of anything you want in order to stress importance in a sarcastic light or to combine this with a synecdoche. For example, "We were on our way to Mike's Royal Palace.", in which "Mike's Royal Palace" is referring to Mike's house. The sarcasm of making "royal palace" a proper noun could be used in reference to Mike having a large ego about his place of dwelling and the synecdoche occurs when the narrator refers to a house as a "royal palace".

Your job is to help people attain their personal fitness goals.

If you can't see past your meathead elitism for two fucking seconds to see that, you shouldn't be a personal trainer.

It doesn't fucking matter where they start.

Way to be a jackass. When you get older, your body loses its ability to produce muscle, hormones, and recover as well as when you were younger.

OP's point is that it is usually impossible to produce the same results you would see in a 30 year old who came in at the same condition, without drugs, hormone therapy, etc...

My answer would be that trainers are never miracle workers. They are there to provide the best information available to help someone reach their goal. Also, if their goal is unattainable, they should let their customer know that they cannot provide them with that, and help them to set more realistic ones.

I think most people in that condition, at that age, really just want to lose the fat because they want to live a longer, healthier life, not become a professional bodybuilder.
