when i do squats, i first like to do 5 sets of 5 to 7 reps with around 250 (275 is my max, gimme a break i'm 173 lbs and tall and lanky). the lowest i can usually go with this much weight is parallel, maybe slightly below parallel (can't tell for sure) but definitely not ass to grass

after doing that at that amount of weight, i like to bring it down to 185 and do 6-8 x 4 - ass to grass

what do you guys think? good, bad, indifferent?

i just wanted to not puss out by not going ass to grass, but didn't want to also puss out on the weight

Honestly, I don't know, but you do do a lot of squats. Way more than I do, but I also fell into /fit/s preachings of Rippetoe and Starting Strength...So I only do 5x5...You should try though maybe just doing ass to grass squats one time...and do like 195...and then the next week do 205 ass to grass...and keep increasing the weights. Maybe that will help.

What the fuck do you want?

Strength or Grow up muscle?

If you want strength keep the number of reps but just for 3 sets and increase the weight.

On the other hand if you want to grow up muslce bring it down to 185 but increase the number of reps. 8-12 x 5. This would totally help you to get the hypertrophy to grow.
