Boost metabolism? Anonymous
Is there and good ways to speed your metabolism besides the obvious of exercising? I tried lifting weights to try to build muscle mass, so they would burn more calories (I worked a lot on my quads and hams) but every time I try to start lifting weights, it goes well for a couple weeks and then after that I kind of lose the desire/drive to keep doing it so it always falls out. Same with running. I know I should be running, and it would help me lose the last 15-20 pounds I want to lose, but I can never stick with it for some reason. Last year I ate salad's every day for 3 months, and I lost almost 25 pounds, but I have since stopped eating salad's every day. It doesn't seem worth it to me to give up foods that I love and settle for food with no taste. I don't eat unhealthily either. I'll try not to eat fast food more than once a month, and I drink water, natural fruit juice, and milk more than anything. I barely ever drink soda anymore. How do you guys motivate yourselves to keep running or working out?

BTW, I am 5'11" and I weigh 190 pounds...

wait...you're asking questions about how to speed up metabolism and then go on to say you don't try simply because you get tired and lose the drive?

there is no magic pill. anything we tell you will be something you already know or will require diligence that you obviously don't have. either change your attitude or give up, like i said before: there is no magic pill.

and you're not doing things as well as i think you are and i can tell that from the things you wrote (i dont like to give up good tasting foods)

Like I try to eat healthily. I stopped eating sugary foods and junk foods. I just can't eat salad's every day like I did before. Basically, I'm just wondering what's the best way to speed your metabolism. Believe me, I've tried hard losing this last couple pounds, and every time I would plateau. I used to run more ethan 2 miles a day when I played soccer, and I was dieting at the same time. I got down to 175 but once I stopped running, I gained the weight right back.

Im in your same situation im 5'11 and hover around 188-192. I lost 30 pounds doing nothing, but eating a ton and lifting weights. I cant seem to get stronger , but I did shed some weight. For the past 3 months I lose about 1 or 2 pounds a month its painfully slow.

let's see...you know you have to eat vegetables and eat better food but you just don't want to

you know you stay in shape from exercising but you don't want to exercise and as soon as you stop you get fat again.

you really can't see the solution here? it's not that hard.

this is a faggot chart, it is meaningless.

That's the thing, I DO eat healthy foods. I was just saying that I cannot eat salads EVERY SINGLE DAY like I did last year. I'm willing to have salads a couple times a week, but not every day. What I was saying was even when I was exercising regularly and intensively I couldn't get rid of those last few pounds of fat wrapped around my abdomen. Also, who actually wants to exercise just to exercise (without ulterior motives)? I want to lose weigh, therefore I know I have to exercise, but I can never keep doing it, which is why I asked about how people keep motivated. For one thing, it hurts to run. I have exercise-induced asthma, so every time I do run it feels like my lungs are on fire, and my throat constricts. Also, I notice my teeth hurt after and while running. Idk if this happens to anyone else. Maybe it's something to do with the excess blood which swells my throat or whatever, idk.

Salads are pretty pointless. All right if you like them, but lettuce is probably the least efficient food on the planet. Salad is a healthy food, but you can eat healthy without eating much salad.

Learn good nutrition. A solid fat-loss diet isn't "eat salads for every meal".

Are there any ways to slow down metabolism

one thing i want to point out, you say you dont want to exercise without having the proper motivation but everytime you stop you gain weight..wouldnt that be motivation to continue exercising? Oh wait, you don't want to actually work, you just want the easy way out.

dude, i really don't think you are as healthy as you make yourself out to be. you're talking about how you eat healthy but still can't lose weight and you can't exercise at all without feeling a rush of blood that hurts you? I understand the asthma part but if you really had THAT bad that even walking would agrivate you, then you most likely shouldn't even be outside breathing dust.

BTW, your thinking that you need ulterior motives to exercise proves you don't have the motivation to be in good shape. eating kinda healthy and doing exercise every now and then is not eating or living healthy. having a healthy lifestyle should be your goalbut i guess you seem to think it just happens naturall without all the work...

breathe through your NOSE it is specially designed to scoop oxygen out of the air....if you breathe through your mouth when you jog it will suck

motivation? pick a random girl you would like to have sex with....work out hard until you know she will do it with you easily.....if successful pick a new hotter girl....until you get rejected...it will happen eventually even if you are awesome...rejection = motivation.

Me, for starters. As im dredgind me way trough my social science studies the best part of the day is when i get to go out and run. In the beginning it was pretty unpleasent, but i have learned to like it. And now i feel like shit if i go for a week without running. You should try getting a genuine interest in physical activity like i did. Join a sports-team or club, and bring your friends. Heck, a friend of mine even met his girlfriend that way. If you didnt like weightlifting i suggest you try other things.

It only happens when running and doing intense exercising. Hence the "exercise-induced" part. And btw, having a healthy lifestyle IS an ulterior motive for exercising. You might be right though, I mean eating and being only somewhat healthy is keeping me from gaining weight and being more unhealthy, but not helping to lose anything or get healthy.

its easy to find sources. it's not some medical breakthrough or secret. it's well known that the cardio system works best taking IN air through the nose and expelling it through the mouth. this is because of several reasons:

1- the nose acts as a great filter and reduces crap going into your body and can reduce stress on your throat that cold air can have from breathing through your mouth

2- the deep breathing that your nose does brings the O2 straight to your diaphragm...nice deep breathing where as breathing from your mouth tends to not be as consistent and not as rythmic and doesnt go as deep.

3- breathing out is good though because it is quick and pushes the air out which is whats supposed to happen. never try to slowly blow air out of you when you are jogging. breath in deep and slow and push out hard and fast.

I do. I just want to fucking run. Got no fat to lose, but I sure as hell want to run for the pleasure of it. Same with weight lifting, but I do have some visual goals in that department.
