is DDR, ITG, stepmania...etc good cardio?
>> Anonymous
we've met the DDR quota for the next week, boys... no more of these now.

yes

Cardio is a side effect of DDR. What really helps is the revolution.

Treat it that way.

not as good as running outside or spending a couple hours on the elliptical

This.

One of them lost 60 pounds with a mixture of dieting, DDR, weight lifting and biking. Don't try to lose weight with DDR alone. You'll have to play for a long time to get anywhere.

It's good if you are really lazy and don't like going to the gym...just don't do it in an apartment building unless you are on the bottom floor...sounds like a pair of elephants having rabbit sex to anyone living under you.
>> The Hound
i've been experimenting with difficult songs on DDR as a sort of HIIT.
drawbacks:
1. the interval of lower intensity is actually you changing songs or whatever, so it's pretty much no intensity
2. if you fuck up the song is over and it screws up your timing

I decided not to use it. right now i'm experimenting with riding up fucktons of hills on my cycle as HIIT.

That was an awesome episode of Colbert, I thought Rain really wouldn't show. Also I use DDR to supplement my stuff, but you can't use it alone.

max300... expert... repeat until die

enjoy your HIIT...

it'll go:
low - mid - high - mid - high - low - high - low - reselect (very low) - repeat

whoa, fuck. first time on fit, what a thread to see. now i want to play DDR. i haven't played in ages.

do you guys use cheapo soft pads, or are we talking hardcore metal pads here?
>> Anonymous
>>109360
softpads are plenty for home use unless you are insane... i think they might help stabilizers a little more... unsure though.
>> Anonymous
>>109360
When I was really into DDR I would completely destroy a soft pad every within a few months; I was really lucky because my local EB used to do single-replacement warranties on them... My Mom used to get pissed off at me because I would duct tape them to the floor to prevent them from sliding all over the place.
>> Anonymous
>>109375
back when I used a softpad, I was only on 2foot songs... and it was already beginning to malfunction

Fuck that shit, you whore Pluto Relinquish Oni until you die. That'll work wonders.
>> Anonymous
>>109516
i sense someone who hasn't seen or tried anna boten... pluto relinquish is only hard because of the odd tempo... anna boten rapes you up the arse because your feet just don't want to move fast enough

I do weights every other day and DDR for 30 minutes every day if I can.

I've gained 5lbs of muscle and lost 5lbs of fat so far, and it's only been a month. Pretty good turnaround for not a lot of effort.

ROFL

so your scale didn't move and you assume that you just leveled out? you didn't do shit.
>> play !3rZQiXcf5A
Anything that gets you moving is good. If you like doing it, it's even better because you will feel motivated to do it more.
>> Anonymous
>>109557

No, I got my body fat percentage tested. Go troll elsewhere, loser.
>> Anonymous
>>109571
your an even bigger faggot for getting your body fat tested when all you do for cardio is play a video game.

>>109357
vertex^2 doubles, you pussies!

>>109364
you're full of shit. softpads are total shit and are more trouble then their worth. at very least get a pad with a dense foam insert. still a poor excuse for a pad, but better than some flimsy piece of shit.
>> Anonymous
DDR sucks "HAY GUYS I LOOK LIKE A FLAILING FAGGOT DANCEING ON A GIRLS GAME"

no thanks i am already /fit/
>> Anonymous
>>109520
Can you do crossovers at 800 bpm? If not, then PR will destroy you.
Also, it's Boten Anna.
>> Anonymous
>>109625

No, you're a fatass butthurt faggot with no life who has nothing to do but troll fitness boards and pretend you know shit about shit, when in reality IF you were fit, you'd realize that when you play 7-10 rounds of any of the Paranoia remixes back to back, you've just done your HIIT for the day.

tl;dr GTFO TROLL.
>> Six Of Spades !FZ8sNnEDwk
If you're worried about downtimes between songs, play Nonstop mode. In the more recent iterations of DDR, you can set criteria, like the range of BPM or difficulty for the system to select from.

If you fail, it's probably because you've worn yourself out from doing 15 songs without stopping...
>> Anonymous
but aren't hard pads very expensive?
>> Six Of Spades !FZ8sNnEDwk
>>109881
Yeeeees, but soft pads work fine for the most part. The only downside is that playing the game in the arcades is a little harder as a result. Dainty aerobic steps that work well on a soft mat are hard to detect on that battle-hardened DDR Extreme in your local arcade.

If you have a softpad, you can make it "hard" and last longer if you mod it, like this:
http://www.angelfire.com/pro2/softpadmod/#_Toc71480697

Fairly inexpensive, and should tide you over until/if you decide to get a decent metal or hard foam pad.

>>109877
I believe you're thinking of Endless mode. Nonstop mode is just 4 predetermined songs in a row as a course. Endless mode does what you described.

thanks, that sounds just perfect for a beginner
