HELP ME /FIT/ Anonymous
I've lost about 180 over the last year and a half. I was 380 and now I'm stuck at 202. I've been stuck for a few weeks now and I still feel like I have to lose a lot.
I'm 6'1 so it seems like 202 should be an acceptable weight, but it feels like I have a shitload more to lose. My moobs and stomach are awful. Is this just a skin issue or what? I've tried switching up my routine and all that, and I'm still stuck.

OP here. That is me. I do cardio every fucking day. I run 4+ miles a day and am on a strict diet. I lift 3 days a week. I've been doing cardio 6 days a week for over a year.

>> Geigue !!KgpOPtX57BM

When you lose weight, your fat cells shrink, but do not die or go anywhere. Your skin has too much delfated fat to be of any use in skin donation. In your case, you're stuck with good old "cosmetic surgery."

This is what happens with rapid weight loss. Skin is made out of elastin and can't reshape as quickly as your weight loss. Only surgery can fix it (or another 3 years of work outs).
>> Anonymous
Just diet and exercise. I was fucking huge, I didn't exercise at all and just ate crap. I didn't need to do much to lose weight, I really pushed myself. I was obviously pretty fat in my torso.
>> Anonymous
no, as said countless times before, skin tissue is not that thick, it's still alot of fat in there. Of course you will need to have surgery to remove the stretched tissue later, but do keep going!

Continue the good work!

OP just make sure your nutrition is good. Eat lots of protein and maybe some chondroitin, as they have been shown to promote chondroblast and other connective tissue maker activity. Skin elasticity is based on protein fibers.

Lift weights, fill out frame. Don't worry too much about cardio.

Skin elasticity will probably improve a significant amount. The downside is it takes a while. The upside is it doesn't cost thousands of dollars.

Train hard and see where you're at after a year or so.

I said you can not attempt. Idiot.
>> !!!!!
Wow, OP. I'm very proud of you. I know that may not mean anything since I'm just a nameless anonymousfag, but you truly are an inspirational individual to other people who are on the road to lose some weight and achieve a natural standard of health. Despite the excess amount of skin you have, never let anyone on this board put you down. Fuck, don't let ANYONE put you down.

Losing weight is about health and bodily function, first and foremost. The body is supposed to be at optimal condition at all times; cosmetic appearance to appease others is based on the society we live in. For all the faggots making fun of you in this thread, I can assure you that most of them are the CURLZ4TEHGURLZ faggots in the gym. Fuck them and don't even let those cunts phase you. If you do intend on cosmetic surgery, find a REALLY good physician to do it. I'd say you need about two or three surgeries, each focusing on different aspects of your torso. It is imperative, and I mean fucking IMPERATIVE, to obtain as much information as possible about a potential surgeon. You can also ask insurance companies and plead a case for them to pay for your surgery, since this can be considered as a psychological challenge for you.

Godspeed, my friend; and once again, great fucking job. True mis/fits/ are proud of you.

Oh, and of course ..

I've been weight training the last 4 or 5 months, but obviously not hard enough. I've been focusing too much on loosing weight. Right now I do:

bicep curls

I lift three times a week. Should I only do cardio on the days I don't lift? Like I said before, I do cardio 6 times a week.

Protip: This can still occur even if someone focuses on both muscle and cardiovascular exercise.

Protip #2: I'm a pre-med/Biofag. Skin is epithelial tissue, which is squamous stratified. Skin is connected to connective tissue, which is composed of cells bathed in a ground matrix of material produced BY those cells. Epithelial tissue is cellular for the most part; connective tissue, however, is not. Elastin and collagen are substances produced by those cells and work hand-in-hand with one another. When the connective tissue is stretched beyond normalcy, the cells do not instantaneously increase their ground substance amount. The body is spectacular, but it cannot heal / amend all wounds. If those cells DID increase their ground substance amount, then we would not have people with this individual's ailment. There are exceptions, though. Those exceptions are based in genetics, where people produce an abnormal amount of elastin and/or collagen via an error in gene transcription / mRNA transcription. That, however, is a whole other story which I will not delve into at this point in time.

Like I said earlier, Godspeed to you OP.

not to hijack the thread, but I used to weigh 280lbs 2 years ago and lost about 100 of it in a year, at first my skin looked a lot like this, though not as much. However, fast forward another year; more dieting, more exercise + lifting and it has all begun to even out, all I am left with now is a minor gut, no more moobs and certainly nothing like what the loose skin looked a year prior.

Proud of you bro, you're doing good. Eventually you will need to get cosmetic surgery to remove that excess skin. Until you have the money, keep doing what you're doing, and add a bit more weight training into your routine, it'll help (but you will still prob need to get cosmetic surgery)
>> Anonymous
Don't listen to these people saying that surgery is needed.

Just keep losing weight and give it time.

Skin won't hang in folds on your body by itself. It needs fat under it to keep hanging like that.

If you stop losing weight, your skin will still slowly tighten up. If you lose much more weight, your skin will tighten up much faster.

Best bed is surgery for you.

You probably feel heavy because you've been losing a lot of fat and probably some muscle. I'd say eat more and try to gain some lean mass, you'll feel much better after you do, trust me! It will also help with the skin.

One of my friends lost over 100 pounds and had the loose skin, but over the years it firmed up quite a bit because he was quite young and he gained more mass to displace the fat he lost.

But if you're looking for significant improvement, I'd say surgery. Of course, that's not always feasible

LOL that's your entire lifting? No wonder your skin got so loose, you basically did nothing but cardio. Talk to the trainer in your gym and ask for a real lifting program.

I have always been under the impression that this is not "Loose skin"

Skin is not that thick. It's flab. It's what happens when you have hardly any muscle or lean mass.
>> Anonymous
Op your plight has moved me so i did some quick research aka googling.

http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm

"The skin is usually thickest on the soles of the feet, and thinnest on the eyelids. As a typical example of your skin's thickness, pinch the skin on the back of your hand. If it were true, as this woman claims, that the folds of skin hanging off her body had absolutely no fat left underneath to diet away, every inch of this skin would hang in sheets as thin as folds

of paper. However, common observation of the folds of skin in such examples reveals this is not always the case.

Measuring the thickness of these hanging folds of skin provides evidence that there is still a substantial amount of body fat underneath the skin. The skin is not so much "loose" as it is flabby due to excess body fat. Even if some areas have completely thinned out, there will still likely be excess body fat stored in adjacent areas that contribute to the overall flabby condition.............

My suggestion to this young woman would be to replenish her lost lean body mass with a healthy balanced diet and weight training (See Muscle Mass Myths). Lost lean body mass usually replenishes fairly rapidly on a balanced calorie-sufficient diet. After increasing her bodyweight with 20 pounds of replenished lean body mass, she can then lose the rest of her excess body fat, without sacrificing any more lean body mass. Then she would have both a normal bodyweight AND a normal body composition."

aka what he is saying is youve done all the fasting and been on a strict diet with madcore wieght loss exercising but now its time to go on a normal diet and do some weight training.

Fill some of that looseness up with muscle and slowly but surely given time your skin will get tighter.

"I thought for sure I'd have to get plastic surgery. But the more weight I lost, the more what I thought was loose skin tightened up and the better it looked. Based on my experience, I don't think you have loose skin; instead there's more fat under there to lose."

"I myself have the excess skin after losing 100 lbs. I am 37 years old. The biggest area where I had it was around my tummy, so I purchased an Ab Lounge and over the last several months, I have noticed a major improvement in my stomach area. I'm also doing a combination of aerobic type activity (belly dancing and hula-hooping), pilates, and other weight-bearing exercises for toning. I think "toning" is the key. WHAT THEFUCK

http://www.leehayward.com/loose_skin.htm

Average body fat for men is in the mid teens (16% or so) Good body fat for men is 10-12%, and single digits is extremely lean (men shouldn’t expect to look “ripped” with 100% tight skin on the abs unless they have single digit body fat, and women low teens).

Except in extreme cases, you are very unlikely to see someone with loose skin who has very low body fat. It's quite remarkable how much your skin can tighten up and literally start to “cling” to your abdominal muscles once your body fat goes from “average” to "excellent." Someone with legitimate single digit body fat and a ton of loose skin is a rare sight.

So... the key to getting tighter skin is to lose more body fat, up to the point where your body composition rating is BETTER than average (in the “good” to “great” category, not just "okay"). Only AFTER you reach your long term body fat percentage goal should you give thought to "excess skin removal." At that point, admittedly, there are bound to be a few isolated cases where surgery is necessary if you can’t live with the amount of loose skin remaining.

Ok op thats enough googling from me

My 2 cents you still have heaps of body fat to lose. What you need to do is start weight training and filling out with muscle. Once your BMI is really low and you still have excess skin and youve given yourself enough time for your skin to regain its taughtness then id start thinking surgery but before that keep losing weight.
