Soup /fit/,

This question goes out to anyone, but especially any femanon browsing through, as we females have a different metabolism from most males.

I've been trying to lose 10-15lbs for the last while, but I'm a Canadafag uni student so I a) have no time, and b) it's fucking winter so I can't jog or any shit out there. I have a swiss ball and some weights, and I'm trying to eat healthier than I did 1st year, but it isn't working. This shit started when I went on birth control. Figures.

Currently 5'5", 128-130lbs. All in the gut and lovehandles. Clocked into uni 2.5 years ago at 106. Would be happy at 115 lean, or 120ish with muscle. I'm trying to find time for skating and other shit.

What would you suggest... or preferrably, what have you done that has worked well for you?
>> Anonymous
Your uni doesn't have a gym?
>> Anonymous
Does your university not have a recreation center or something you can go work out at?

Yeah. 'anytime' hours usually don't coincide with my schedule since I'm 3rd year, full term with an extra course. I try to get in there when I can, and carry on with my routine with the stuff I have here when I can't.
>> Anonymous
I added ankle weights for everyday wear. So when I walked I had extra weight. I always took stairs instead of elevators and I ate really healthy. I cut out most meat from my diet. Does your college have a gym? If so if they have a track, run and walk a mile in that about 3 times a week. I also did a lot of Yoga.

I went from 125 to 115 and my legs never looked better.
>> Anonymous
Lift heavy weights. You'll still be girly, and it'll up you're metabolism and burn way more calories overall than cardio by just sitting in class. Plus it'll give your body the shape you (and all girls) are probably looking for.

Find a torrent of living room yoga

If you are able to focus then I suggest seventeen and cosmogirl workouts. I subscribe to both and they have some really good workouts that are easy to do.

I use yourself fitness myself since I have no focus. I go to the gym too but yourself fitness is nice and structured.

fitnessmagazine.com has an amazing video section with great walkthroughs.

What constitutes as 'heavy' :P
I have a set of 5lbs and a set of 10lbs.

>>11438
Oh my Good God. I have a pair and I never thought of that. I used to DDR ALL THE TIME and I wore them to increase my speed. Is it sad that I keep ankle weights with my playstation?

>>11445
Good idea. I've been interested in Yoga/Pilates and my parents have mentioned it being a good stress reliever. Something that I need.

She's fucking fancy fine, but the alt. shot where you see her butt? I don't want a butt like that. :( No crazy skating for me.

>>11466
Hmm, I haven't seen any other shots maybe you could post them, but I assume you mean bubble-ass, in which case why not?

Regardless, you should read that SA thread. It's an infinitely better resource than this place.

Sorry, I didn't save the other but I'll try and /r/ it.
In the meantime, thanks. Definately checking it out now. :)

Find a two hour block during the week at some point to go to the gym and do some recumbent biking.

You can also do push-ups cold in the morning, either full push-ups or ones with your knees down.

As for ankle weights, don't run in them, but otherwise they're good for keeping heart rate up.
>> Anonymous
I live in Canada and still o jogging most days, freqently see people jogging out there as well. just put on a hat and light coat, after 10 minutes you won't be cold anymore anyways.
>> Anonymous
>>11496
That would work here if they cleared the sidewalk. Cold isn't an issue, but after the last two huge dumps of snow topped by freezing rain, not even my jogging shoes can take the caked on crap. It's like a sprained ankle waiting to happen. :(

You look healthy, just a little out of proportion. Do push-ups and work on your upper body strength.

>> Anonymous
>>11505
jesus christ your ass and thighs are huge.
i suggest you work around that area. do some lunges and squats.

for squats, try doing different versions: 1 with your feet pointed forward (feet parallel) and 1 with your feet angled outwards (to work on your inner thigh). your upper body is fine. just try to maintain your weight by doing push-ups and bicycle crunches.

also, when you do exercises, it's important to execute in the correct form. if you're doubtful about your form, practice in front of your mirror and google how to do the exercises.

Hey thanks! That's more or less her genetics, though I'm sure working in out gave it a sort of exaggerated look. Personally, and I think I can speak for a lot of men, in saying that's looks better to me than some flat-butt girl. To each their own.

Anyway, good luck with it all!

Ahh well true. And some days it's just plain too snowy or brutally cold. Also I'm in southern ontario wich is relatively mild. I don't think I'd still do it if I was in montreal or something.

If you can afford it, I really reccomend a rowing machine. A low end one gets the job done and isn't that pricey. I bought one 7 or 8 months ago and it's one of the best investments I've ever made. The workout itself is awesome and I can do it any time I please.

So no one has asked what you're eating. You say you're trying to eat healthier.

Tell us what you are actually eating in a normal day and how much of it. There is no weight loss plan that works well without us knowing nutritional info.

I was told once that eating steaks and protein shakes was 'not the ideal diet' for fit women.

I wonder why.
>> Anonymous
Seriously, OP just go to SA's watch and weight forum and same yourself the time and hassle of the conflicting info that's bound to arise here.

shrug. Everything these days seems to increase a womans risk of breast cancer.

I know girls who take protein shakes regularly and are fine and fit. And I know girls who eat a lot of protein, usually from chicken and tuna (fish twice a week, not more).

Men and women are different, but building muscle and losing fat works pretty much the same across the board.

I guarantee you girls like this aren't skipping their protein shakes. Pic related, Beth Horn. (Venom, American Gladiators) Wish I could find higher rest of her though.

Good! I was waiting for someone to ask.

I hate eating breakfast, but I've been trying to eat it now. I'll start off the day by eating something with protien, like eggs or (more often) tuna fish. Tuna and beans on a pita, tuna in a salad, stuff like that. I guess equiv. to a can of tuna or a couple of eggs, + cup of vegetable stuff and a side of carbs.

Lunches are similar but about 1.5 times the size. Dinner would be something like.. a chicken breast, brussel sprouts and a potato, or a chicken caesar salad (I like chicken a lot in case you have not noticed.)

I drink a fair amount of tea because I hate water, whether it be tap water or brita water. I try to drink it straight but I can't. And I have a soda addiction that I had to quit cold turkey because I have an allergy of sorts to aspertame and can't drink diet.

I don't drink as much as I should, and I never have, but I literally gag on plain water. :\ I think my diet is a nice change from the mcdonalds and mac and cheese and crap from first year, though.

why don't you go to something awful?

Why should 4chan even have a fitness board if all you do is recommend them going to SA? Fuck SA. You get conflicting information everywhere. Ask two trainers whats better, pyramids or inverted pyramids, and you'll get different answers.

Some of us here actually know what we're talking about.

>>11584
Too much tea is bad. What's up with not drinking water? It's what your ancestors drank. Keeping hydrated is the key to losing weight, and too much caffeine will fuck you up.

Hold all the sauces and dressings on your salads. It also doesn't look like you're getting enough protein, throw in a protein shake or a solid steak burrito or taco or something.
>> Anonymous
>>11586
Sweet. Yeah I've heard conflicting thinga about tea. I drink organic green low-caf. I seriously don't know what's with the water thing, but I can't stomach it 75% of the time. I don't want to sound like a whiny bitch but I'm going to sound like a whiny bitch anyways :P

>>11584
Diet wise you seem to be doing ok. The only "problems" could be in the potato, if someone wanted to be nitpicky, as they're starchy and carb heavy. Do you make the Caesar salad or buy it? Be careful with how much dressing is on it - a McDonalds or other store bought salad can have upwards of 500 calories in it, more than 15 grams of fat, and sugar.

Today or tomorrow, count up the calories you're eating. While the food choices are good, you can still over eat, especially with beans and pitas, which are a tad calorie heavy, despite being healthy. If you stay with these foods (great work on how much protein you're getting) you should be fine as long as you're keeping tabs on calories. If you don't mind sharing your weight, I can give a better idea how many you should be eating.

As for drinking, easy cream and sugar in your tea if you must have it. Try Fruit2o or G2 (the new gatorade) or another fitness water. They have under 50calories a bottle (less then the cream in your tea) and dont taste like water.

What you might want to consider, since you hate breakfast, is a meal replacement, such as a bar or a drink. I currently drink a MRshake for breakfast, fills me up, lots of vitamins, protein, low cal. Might be something to consider.

If you want to accelerate your fat loss, you might want to use the MRshake anyway, or if you like cereal, try the Special K diet, which works by cutting your calories for you by telling you what to eat and when.

Yes, "Some". That's pretty much my point. I'm sure you personally can give great advice, but how is she going to differentiate between what's good and bad advice. It should be for the benefit of her, not the fucking img board.
>> Anonymous
>>11586
She listed beans, tuna, and chicken, all of which are good sources of protein. While more protein doesnt hurt, she looks like she's getting a satisfactory amount.
>> Anonymous
>>11585
"pyramids or inverted pyramids"
Hahaha! Any competent 'trainer' would say neither. And that brings up another problem, the people who earnestly think they have good advice, but don't.

Anyways, I don't want to shit up this thread, it's actually been pretty decent.

>>11593
>>11585
Ahh guys (girls? I dunno) I appreciate the sides you're presenting. One of the reasons I asked here was because OF the conflicting advice elsewhere. Sure, it's standardized, but are we? I thought that it would round out my view of things if I asked here as well, because a lot can be said about personal experiences and reccomendations. I don't tote one above the other, but I like to see both because it provides a broader scope.

As an aside; regarding calorie counting, I simply cannot manage. Since I think about it, I end up anxious and whingy and hungry and grumpy. I try not to 'diet' or 'regulate' in a strict sense, but rather buy what seems reasonable in groceries and then use that to regulate my eating. I am such an overthinking anxious fuck you have NO idea. :P

Another aside; I tried a variety of ketosis diet a while back (like a modified south beach kind of thing) and that showed the best results. I dropped 5 lbs during that, but was unable to function with so little carbs so I had to reintroduce them.

>>11591
I make my own salads 90% of the time, I like to know what goes in them and I'm very anal about washing veggies. I like the idea of 'diet' water and shakes... do the shakes taste any good? They look tasty, anyhow. :3
>> Hammerknife !7ITukp3Pj2
>>11603

GNC shakes made from powder taste like garbage. All-fruit no sugar smoothies with a little bit of protein and vitamin powder mixed in taste great, and is what I eat when working out.

I have my exercise copypasta, but if you don't have regular time, try for a half hour of cardio every day followed by a half hour of light lifting, and chow the smoothie right before lifting.
>> Anonymous
>>11597
Unless of course you're talking to a strength and conditioning coach who is trying to help build up strength in his athletes, say for a football squad, where pyramid lifts are great. In either case, I was just looking for an example. I guess I could have chosen some variation of "regular cardio vs HIIT" but the point remains. People everywhere have different opinions.
>> Anonymous
>>11603
Well, the reason I posted that forum is that they have everything you just mentioned (including a before and after thread of literally hundreds of people's accomplishments and personal experiences). You will learn more about everything you've asked and are going to ask on this site by just reading what people have already asked and have had answered already over there. I'm not saying don't ask and discuss here, but you will benefit greatly by starting there.

>>11622
Yeah, and I'm not questioning that. Just bringingup my point to the various counterpoints going around.

Also, I wanted to say thanks to everyone for their help. Really good stuff, and I appreciate the time everyone took to put something up. I'm off to skate now, I'll check in when I'm back to see if this is still alive. :P

Some shakes are better. SlimFast optima (and the generic brands) are all pretty tasty, in my opinion. And yeah, the new fangled fruit waters are a good substitute for sodas and other more calorie heavy drinks. That should give an ok base for nutrition.

Your height and weight suggest you need a stasis of 2100 calories to maintain that weight. Without counting calories, we'll have to assume (hope) you're creating some defecit. Exercise wise, you need to do some cardio. With jogging out, consider jump rope, exercise videos like someone said, etc.

I would personally recommend a mixture of different pushups (close hands, wide hands, elevated feet), crunches, stair running, and pullups (hard at first, yes, but if you can find a place to hang you can start working on them), and other exercises like that. All done quickly, with little rest, to get your heart rate up. Exercising to lose weight should make you feel it. If you coast by 12 pushups, you should be doing 18.
