I've been fat all my life and I intend on changing that starting now. I'm 5'10" and weigh around 280. My problem is, I'm unsure where to start as I've never bothered to put forth any effort into losing weight before. I've gone through most of the pages here and haven't been able to find too much. I intend on starting to go to the gym soon.

My first assumption is that losing fat is the first priority, while gaining muscle comes afterwards? I realize that muscle burns more than fat, but which should I focus on first?

What exercises do you recommend for burning fat? I've read that high intensity interval training is effective.

I've read that the p90x thing is good, so I'm downloading that right now. I read that it requires minimal equipment, and I don't own any equipment at all.

If there's anything I'm missing let me know, like I said I'm pretty much completely new to this.

Change your diet, you eat too much processed food. Cut all sugary drinks out of your diet. Start run/walking (run until you can't, walk until you get your breath, run again). You can't do P90x right now, especially if you have no equipment. In your current state your body will probably respond to any exercise, so don't worry about this building muscle/losing fat first bullshit, both will come. People think building muscle as becoming zomg xbox hueg in a month, fuck that shit. You will notice muscle as well as fatloss. Go to the gym and do what you can but don't underestimate yourself for fucks sake and don't just do things because you know how to do them, that's no reason. Go find some fucker in there to help you if you have to. Be careful. Know your limits in weightlifting, especially in regards to form, if you're going to be wobbly all over the fucking place then you'll end up with uneven muscles. Be disciplined, get a routine, mix it up, and don't give up. Get music, talk to people, find out new shit, it's a journey.

dont do that "I'm going to go tomorrow, well I dont have time today I'll go the next day" BS GO no excuses
