/fit/, I hate counting calories. Seriously, it's driven me nuts while I've been trying to lose weight. Luckily, my goal weight is getting closer by the week. Once I start maintaining, should I just forget about calories really? I mean, I think eating healthy enough should be fine... Eating good meals, fruit whenever else I'm hungry, then being more lenient some days (such as going out with the family, friends, etc.), you know, the way it was before, except actually exercising on a regular basis. And, should I throw away my scale? Really, I think my pants fitting me the same everyday should be the real indicator of if I'm gained fat or not, you know?

You're right. Fuck calories. Fuck them in the ass. Your metabolism is a hell of a mother fucking force. You want to know why people really get fat? No exercise. Seriously, exercise simply compliments the assload your metabolism carries. You can eat well beyond that bullshit BMR and exercise for even 30 minutes for at least half the week and never get fat. And yes, the scale is nothing but something that will drive you crazy. As you mentioned, fitting in your normal clothes as you normally do should be your only and best indicator.

I'm not exactly the right person to ask, but seriously, as long as you're not eating shit foods, calories don't matter.

Weigh yourself EVERY DAY. Studies have shown that this is the best way to keep off the weight because you will notice that you put on a pound or two and can do slight adjustments long before your pants will tell you.

very true, I've made it part of my morning routine, and it helps to keep me focused throughout the day.

counting calories is bullshit, unless you are eating premade shit from a package (which is unhealthy in the first place), the most you can do is basically ball park that shit. Just focus more on eating foods that are healthy.

Weighing yourself every single day is a gigantic load of fucking bullshit as well. From day to day, my weight will fluctuate around 10 pounds. This comes from eating food, water weight, etc. In addition, if you are building muscle mass, it will seem like you actually aren't dropping pounds, when in reality you are, but you are also gaining weight from muscle.

Just eat healthy, and work out hard. Spend the rest of your time enjoying yourself, not obsessing about how many fucking calories are in a piece of bread or that you weigh 3 more pounds today than you did yesterday.
