Some old guy (professor I think) does this too. He only goes about 40% range of motion either way, and never brings an arm to a full stop. He's also in his mid-50's and in insanely good shape, so I trust he's doing something right.
Just avoid full-body bicep curls. Those make me LOL mightily. There was a skinny Asian kid using a 40 lb. barbell doing full body curls, and fell over from the momentum. Unfortunately he caught himself on his foot before he fell.
