Am I allowed to use this while I weightlift? Does /fit/ recommend it at all? I'm thinking about buying these Under Armour compression shorts for running/weightlifting.

Pic related.

I remember reading about a study done about this. They concluded that tight fitting shorts help sprinters. I don't know about lifting.

The material in stuff like this is a bit stiff and acts like a spring. When your body compresses, so does the material, and when your muscles expand, the material springs out, aiding your natural movement.

You DO NOT NEED this unless you're an Olympian looking for a little help. Its just expensive. Guys like Arnold and Jay and Ronnie build their bodies in $10 bathing suits and cheap gym shorts.

Can I walk around in these like pants?

Do you mean from an acceptability perspective? Sure. Plenty of other people wearing skin tight workout wear in the gym.

Speaking as an Under Armour whore, I love the stuff. It's great for if you do go running because you wont get thats shitty chafing in between the thighs. Also, your junk wont go flying everywhere while you run. I wear them anytime I go to work out. But the choice is yours, I however would not recommend just wearing them as pants, unless you want people to look at you like a freak.

Yeah, hardasses with cash.

You don't need this stuff. Seriously, all the energy, time and effort could be spent doing the reps or resting in between rather than go shopping for male ballet cups. This isn't some sport, this is weight training.

I hate the sport pricks at school who wear that shit. They're the same fags that don't find it homosexual at all to smack one another's ass. Anyway, you don't need that crap. Just wear some normal shorts.

The best thing about college is watching douchebags like you realize that what they did in high school sports amounts to absolutely dick in college.

I use these when I exercise. It keeps my excess skin close to my body, keeping it from getting in the way.

Besides, I got tired of looking at all that skin hang down like a huge mass while doing push-ups.

Better for cardio than anything else. I wear them to row, which helps a lot with comfort and not getting nasty rashes. I don't think you'd need them if you're purely weight lifting. I buy the long ones for $20 at a discount sporting goods store. The shorter ones (mid-thigh level) are like $17.50, so not that expensive. I have two pairs and hit the gym 4 times a week. Beware though, if you're wearing the same pair 3+ days a week, they WILL smell like crap. And by crap, I mean soaking them in Febreeze doesn't do shit. If you have an iPod armband, it will smell like that but worse.

P.S. Wear football/running shorts over your compression shorts. Well, unless you're George Zimmer and want everyone to check out your package. In which case, gtfo.

You don't exactly "need" them during weight training but they still help out. Even if it's not as helpful as it is to cardio workouts.

It's really all personal choice really, some people love the support/second skin feel to it others don't. I'm kind of in the former.

Well, some people need them in order to do some exercises properly (like I need them in order to do push-ups).

Without them the excess skin on my abs gets in the way of the exercise. Heck, my excess skin hangs 3" from my body when I'm in push-up position and not wearing my compression outfit. The outfit keeps it from hanging down.
