i'm going on a fast (i.e. not eating/drinking for about a month for 12 hours every day)

anybody got any tips to
a) get me through the day
b) not gain too much weight through a decrease in metabolism rate

Can you drink while fasting? Be sure to drink lots of water I guess to keep hydrated. What about other types of drinks like juice and milkshakes? Are those still okay? *clueless about fasting*

Add some kind of high-metabolism food to your diet, like coffee w/ cinnamon. Also, eat either oatmeal or eggs in the morning so you'll stay full throughout the day.
Unless you're doing this for Ramadan (which I know it's not) you SHOULD drink water throughout the day. It's calorie free! ;-)

"Fasting" is pretty fucking vague. What are the stipulations? What can you eat? How much are you relegated to? And, again, why?

Fasting on a lark might easily be counterproductive depending on what you eat when you DO eat, how well you stay hydrated, etc...

Unless you're really determined to do it (and I do see the appeal of something like this, admittedly), I'd suggest a less strict regimen.

I didn't have any intention of doing this for losing weight. I also acknowledged that this would slow down my metabolism and inturn, probably make me gain weight. What I am asking for are tips to minimise the effects of the slow metabolism.
