Does any have experience with people age 50 going on 60 wanting to exercise again? I need some help. My parents are getting older and getting achy joints. I want them to be strong before they can't move much at all. I don't want to impose on them but I just want them to be strong well into their old age. Thanks in advance for your help.

Currently my dad rides his bike for around 1 hour each day and gets some walking in during his 1 hour lunch. Otherwise he's cooped up in the office and on his days off does gardening or rides his bike. My mother has both feet on the ground 3 days a week for about 8 hours a day at a hospital. On her days off she is also in the garden. The bad news is that both prone to watching 2 hours or more of television in a single session.

No offense taken and thanks for the tip. I really feel like my parents can and should do more physical activities that they might enjoy doing. I guess I'll just write up and list and go through it with them and have some fun.

Yes, they are losing muscle quick. How should I go about selecting supplements for them?

My grandpa is one tuff motherfucker.

He built a huge log sauna/cabin with logs he cut down and shaped himself. Of course we helped him when we were around but he did most of the work by himself.

he's 65years old. Probably deadlifts like 80kg more than I do...

first of all you have to remember something: you can't take someone who has only done light cardio at BEST for the past 30 years and expect them to become powerlifters. that's why your parents aren't hauling in dead animals or powerflitign like some 60 year olds are.

There are programs deisgned for older people and its about time they get looking into some martial arts like tai chi that work out muscles/joints but dont stress them as much.

they should just start light, I.E. pushups, situps, isometrics etc.
