Hi /fit/

What is hunger really an indication of? Today was my calorie spike day in Venuto's game of staggering diets. It's 11:30 now, an hour after my final meal for the day, and I am damn hungry after 2200 calories. I'm not going to eat more before I go to bed, but what's the deal with feeling hungry?

I hear a lot of different things, like hunger indicates a nutrition deficit (so no matter how many carbs you eat, you'll still feel hungry if you didn't get enough protein or something like that) or that hunger can usually be mistaken for thirst. HELP, /fit/!

Interesting ideas. I eat real clean and half my diet comes from protein. And I just drank 4 bottles of water in the past hour to help... no dice. Hmmm it is a mystery. Google's also being a bitch that wants to talk about hunger in the third world.

Damn right. If those kids in Africa aren't eating enough, they can't fucking bulk, and /fit/ has NO INTEREST in people who won't bulk.

there are situations in which being full doesnt properly inhibit appetite

Hunger is simply the feeling you get when your body needs something, or feels it needs something:

if you're eating three meals a day, and not feeling hungry for most of the day, and then you cut it down to two meals a day, you're going to feel hungry even if you're eating the same foods. Your body associates a certain time with a certain amount of food, and when it doesn't get it, it gets hungry. Same with water. the first signs you feel for being thirsty feels like hunger.
