/fit/, i realized i'm out of shape. so started biking in the mid mornings this summer, but it's nothing that special or anything.

what weekly regiment should i bike at? every day? every other day? week ends?

i want to lose minor belly and neck fat as fast as possible, but then just keep doing it to stay there. any ideas?

I am also interested in this conversation, as I started biking earlier this week but am not sure of how much to go for.

So far, my suggestion is try at least a little every day, anon. Did you ever bike when you were a kid? Remember how it felt racing around like that every day just for the hell of it.

well I don't know how you could get rid of the fat but, I suppose doing a 1-2 mile trek on your bike once to twice a week will help you stay in shape, because it did help me

Biking is super easy once you get past the five mile mark which is also kinda bad and here's why: After about five miles, you muscle breakdown (how it builds back up to gain muscle) slows down to prevent mega damage. Thus just straight up biking doesn't do much to really reduce fat.

Yes, but OP wasn't asking for exercises to specifically target some spot.

Well, you can't spot train for fat. Just get your heartrate up (cardio, etc.) and you'll be fine.

If it doesn't hurt, keep going until you think it will. Then stop. Wash, rinse, repeat 3x a week.

What type of bike do you have and where do you ride? Also, how long do you bike and how far do you go? A few folks in my club do a minimum 25km a day (Which takes them about an hour to do), along with several rides throughout the week.

Riding for an hour can burn anywhere from 400-600 (or more) calories depending on the intensity, distance, speed and your weight, but it can really help with staying fit. Losing belly/neck fat on the bike though is...........well weird.
