So /fit/,

If I eat two eggs sunny side up, just what kind of scary negative impact would the yolks have on my exercise as opposed to just the whites?

OP here,

Now I'm torn between dipping toast in the yolk or boiling the eggs.

Soft boiled eggs. Just boil them for about 2 minutes less than usual
>> Anonymous
1st off, don't be afraid of yolks. yolks are good. unless ALL YOU WANT is lean protein, but there are much better options than egg white, IMO

2ndly, baked or steamed > boiled, for hard cooked eggs

>>261677
Much better options? Egg whites are pretty much the best lean protein in the world.

in terms of what? shrimp have more protein, pound-for-pound, and they're also fat free

BOIL THAT SHIT

>>261688
They're actually about the same if you count it by calories, instead of by pound, which matters more.

>>261706

egg whites:

243g serving
117 calories
23g protein

shrimp:

85g
84 calories
18g protein

a gram of protein is always gonna be 4 calories. but a cup of shrimp has far more protein than a cup of egg whites.

Damn, looks like I'm eating shrimp for dinner.
>> Anonymous
>>261725
..and you just supported my point.

>>261765

well yeah, no shit, a gram of protein is 4 calories. considering you have to eat less of it to get the same amount of protein, though, shrimp is MORE NUTRITIONALLY DENSE with protein. therefore, I call it a better source of protein. others might not agree, but egg whites certainly aren't *better* or *best*.

LOL at you trying to give me a course on nutrition. It's my major. Shrimp is more nutritionally dense because egg whites have a higher water content. The reason why a lot of people eat egg whites is not because it's the best source of protein necessarily, (because it's not by your definition or by biological value), but because it provides very little calories for its volume. Higher volume + less calories = feeling full with less calories, which is good for weight loss. I personally hate them alone and have successfully been able to cut fat eating whole eggs, but they make a good filler in omelets when you want to keep the calories low.

Tofu has more protein than anything.

Tofu fucking sucks.

>>262060
Delicious but not ideal for protein consumption.
>> Anonymous
Hah, little do you know, mr.>>261725, that egg whites have a BV of 100 while shrimp has a BV of 89 or so.

So really, egg whites' protein is absorbed better. Anyway, shrimp, chicken, egg whites.. It's all pure protein.

To OP, don't fear the yolk. I eat 7 a day. They are good for you, I promise.

>>261688
how the fuck do they not have fat?
>> Anonymous
>>261688

I thought shrimp had a bunch of cholesterol, too.

Here you are, OP. According to this thing, egg yolks are pretty bad ass. I wouldn't even worry about the high fat content, since some vitamins and minerals are fat soluble.

egg yolk has only good cholesterol, and cholesterol that is good for your heart. so man up and it that shit 1-3 a day wont kill u .. nor make u fat.
>> Anonymous
Yolks have cholesterol. If you're a real man and eat 4 eggs a day, you gotta cut out the yolks or you'll die of AIDS and a heart attack.

So just eat the whites. Put ketchup on them if you're a pussy and think it tastes bad.

The effect of dietary cholesterol is minimal, because it also increases the levels of good cholesterol that protect you against heart disease.

Here's a description of a meta-analysis they did on all the relevant studies on this:
http://www.medicine.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/booth/hliving/eggschol.html

tl;dr: if you eat an additional egg *every day*, you're only raising your risk of a heart attack by 2%, which is a tiny difference, especially if you're exercising.

so it's relatively healthy to eat an egg a day?
>> Anonymous
>>263484

That's what science says, yes.

Real men eat 10 dozen eggs until they're roughly the size of a barge.

There. I said it.

>>263525

and a ripped manly barge, not the kind of barge that needs one of its apartment walls removed and a helicopter-winch so they can leave their bedroom for the first time in 6 years.

I think I'm going to go scramble some eggs(yolks included) and put some cheddar cheese in that and then smother it in ketchup and have it for lunch with orange juice. Brb.

This thread is giving me a conflicting stance. I remember seeing another /fit/ thread were eggs were praised for being very balanced food and a great suggestion for something to eat to get healthier.

colesterol is a myth. Unless you're 50+, fuck it.

Eat your food, lift your weights.

Here's an idea. Why don't you do your own goddamn research and stop taking the advice of a bunch of slavering retards on the internet. Myself included.
>> faggot !kzxLmJyzX.

It's down to a matter of opinion, if you're cutting or bulking etc.. Some say eat the yolk, some say don't. ZC goes on the basis of 3 white: 1 yolk if i'm not mistaken so i'd go with that as a general rule of thumb.
