Mainly after your workouts, that way, when the muscles expand and tear, the protein that you drink will help rebuild it. I generally take my protein shakes both before and after. If you want to make some good protein shakes all you need a blender, non-fat milk, 1 frozen banana and of course, your protein. Pour one cup of non-fat milk in the blender, followed with 1-2 scoops of protein. Take your frozen banana and cut it into 5 to 10 smaller chunks, dump it in and blend (ice crush) for about 2 minutes. Vola, you have your very own cheap and delicious milk shake with less than 200 calories per serving.

Or you can take the easy route and shake it with a jar. You can even drink out of it.

Don't forget the straw.

also take some in the mornings as soon as you wake up. Your body uses alot of protein to rebuild itself while you sleep, so it needs some to quickly utilize when you get up

your body needs protein all day so do it once in the morning once after work out and another at night, generally you could miss nighttime one if you eat good.
I say this because if your serious business about working out your body will be recovering everyday all the time.
