Quick question /fit/. I'm a fat fuck and for the past couple months I've been going to the gym and lifting weights. I've got a 3 days a week schedule going and I've seen some great improvements in strength and I generally feel better. My ultimate goal is to lose weight though. Unfortunately I hate cardio, don't play sports and really hate running in general.

As we all know, muscle burns calories, but if I end up bulking up some will my body naturally use up my fat reserves without running/cardio all the time? Basically I'm asking if I can cut corners here and concentrate on building muscle and not worry about cardio as much. I feel like if I weighed less I wouldn't mind running but as it is I'm hauling more than my share of ass.

Sorry, no cutting corners when it comes to weight loss. Muscle does burn calories but only about double what fat burns. Cardio is the only way to give your metabolism a kick in the ass from sitting on it all this time.

Cardio will make you lose fat faster. Strength training and healthy eating is important, but cardio is just as important.

Honestly, make an effort to go run at least twice a week.

I can do twice a week easily, but I can't do shit for distance or speed.

Seriously, I can run about a mile right now at my fastest pace and it destroys me.

HITT, arguments can be made either way about how good it is for you, but statistics show it's better at burning fat than regular cardio.

Do fucking cardio or you will always be fat. Go slow at first, then increase the speed/length.
