What's the correct form on straight-leg deadlifts? I must not be doin it rite, because my lower back starts to hurt.

You are doing it wrong

when you lift weight, make sure you hold your breath, plant your feet unevenly, and lift weights with a sharp, jerking motion.
Twisting as you do this also helps.
above all, make it sudden and jerky, a sudden explosion of muscle.
