/fit/, I use the same weights on each side of my body, try to do the same reps on each side and give each side an equal amount of time to rest (to keep both sides balanced).

But why the heck is my left side getting stronger faster than my right (dominant) side? It's most evident in my calves. The left calf bulges out a lot more when I flex it than my right calf does.

Pic very related. Also whenever I walk too much (like at work) the left leg starts hurting right around where the side of the calf meets the bone.

your left leg is most likely your stance leg... and thus stronger than your dominant leg (I know that's the case for me)

Why don't you get some calf implants.

So in order to make them more balanced, I should attempt to make my right leg my stance leg?

And it's not just my leg. My left shoulder is stronger than my right as well. It just seems that my entire left side of my body is growing faster than my right side is.

I have been taking cinnamon supplements (1000 mg of cinnamomum cassia per day) to increase my insulin sensitivity. Could that be a factor? I've noticed slightly faster gains since I started taking the stuff.

i have a similar but different problem, my left lower body/leg is stronger then my right lower body/leg. However my right upper body/arm is stronger then my left.

Also would using a wobble board help? I bought one for ankle stabilization exercises (I had sprained both of them badly when I was much younger).

Do you pratice any sport?

No sports, but where I work there's pretty much constant rapid walking (almost jogging) from the back to the front. I'd say it's roughly 400 feet roundtrip carrying between 10 and 50 pounds of food each trip.

Imagine taking an eight-mile walk carrying a 50-pound bag of sand. I do that roughly 6 times a week.

Ok Dark One.

First of all, difference in muscle size and strength can be either genetical or thanks to some sort of asymmetrical workout.

If it`s genetical there is nothing you can really do dude, one side will be always stronger/bigger or for some people faster.

If it`s related to exercise issues then there are a few things you can do. Train with dumbbells, to balance the weight you pull. Always train the weaker side first, because it will get more pump (and last).

There are other things that can affect your symmetry. One that comes to mind is bone structure, for example if one of your legs is longer than the other, your body weight might be towards the shorter one, making it bigger.

So basically, it can be something related to genes, wrong exercise performance or bone structure.

Also, when you perform your exercises, try to really notice if you are doing any type of movement thats different from the other side. They all have to be equal.

Hope that helped :3

So I guess it's due to genetics. Like I said, I keep my workouts as balanced as possible.

Guess I'm destined to have a strong left side for some odd reason.

I wasn't complaining. I was just demonstrating what kind of loads I carry while at work.

Also, /r/ this, please. Supposedly it has some self-tests you can do to find muscle imbalances in your lower body.
