Hey, /fit/. I have TERRIBLE complexion. My face is both dry and covered in acne. What would be a good way to get rid of the acne and moisturize it? Help me get flawless skin, please.

Wash your hair. Make sure your hair is clean. Wash your face with antibacterial soap.

Not OP, but I have slight acne (almost beaten it...) and this alone would lead to him having tons of acne. People like us need more than just "lol moar sohp"

Try using salicylic acid washes for your face. Wash with gentle soap first, and concentrate on the greasy areas of your face (forehead and nose region usually). Then use the acne wash. Finish with some mild lotion on the drier areas, and then a little spot treatment acne stuff.

Oh, and exfoliate from time to time. There are several good exfoliants out there, including ones with salicylic acid. In the same vein, acne pads (with or without alcohol, which will dry you out a lot) can help scrub your skin a little better than just soap.

Ever wonder why your forehead is so greasy? It's because you load your hair with petroleum based pomade/wax/gel/whatever. That shit is like acne in a can. I had pretty bad acne for a while, and like the day I stopped putting shit in my hair and started washing it every day was the day my acne went away.

I'll keep it short
1) there's different causes for acne: puberty, food, genetics
2) food is only the cause in 1% of the cases or so, however, unhealthy food WILL make your skin look worse, while healthy food will NOT make acne go away
3) accutane, google it. the only way to get rid of acne in a long way. controversal, but the best thing you can do (my acne is gone, completely). to the fags that thing it has too many side effects: pick between side effects for 6 months or applying shit to your skin for the rest of your life

Fail, fail and FAIL!!

Listen, I've had acne for years since i was in 7th grade. I'm 18 now, but here's how it works. You have to treat your body nicely, which means eating a healthy diet and getting regular excercise and drinking good tonics+water. DO NOT USE CHEMICALS ON YOUR FACE!!! This is bad, really bad, becaue most of them are not holistic/organic compounds which will mean 9/10 times there will be adverse reactions when taking them. Go vegetarian, with lean meat and stop eating dairys, excercise and wash your face 2x a day with proper exfoliation. Oh and btw my acne stopped in 9th grade cuz i washed my face with proper exfoliation and regular soap 2x a day. Try it.

I got rid of my acne through the dip method. It helped dramatically initially, and slowly over the course of a few months, basically got rid of my acne. I used to have it reallllly bad, now I only get an occasional pimple every now and then.

dip method:

fill a basin with hot water (not so hot it hurts you, but plenty hot). this opens your pores and flushes those motherfuckers out good. keep your face in the water for a collective 3-6 minutes, taking breathing breaks when needed.

after the hot water, fill the basin with cold water and do a quick 1 minute dip to close your pores again so that dirt cant get into them ala the hot water opening them.

do this at least twice a day, during the morning and during the night.

using face washes and creams and pads never did fucking shit for me, and I was using that junk for years. maybe it works for some, but sure as fuck did nothing for me. dip method helped clear me up fast, though.

go to the doctor, receive either anti-biotic tabs in the form or either "minocyclin" or "oxytertacyclin" or an anti-biotic gel (i forget the name) which you use to cover and protect your skin for the day.

op
give it a shot
wash your face with exfoliates, apply cream with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, use face wash, and dont use that shitty goo on your hair or anything for about a month, use shampoo regularly to keep your hair clean, see if you notice something
you have nothing to lose since that hair style is fucking pig disgusting anyway
and the worse that can happen is no change

A friend of mine has an absolutely grotesque acne problem, he's got really big, red, disgusting zits all over his face. Even his cheeks.

He's been taking prescribed antibiotics for it recently, and after a couple of weeks it's begun to lessen. But not very much, and now his face is just awfully dry and painful to look at. Maybe lotion would fix up that sort of thing.

So, yeah, look into some antibiotics.

First, determine what kind of skin condition you actually have. A lot of times, people mistake certain types of conditions for regular acne and then start a cycle of trying hundreds of products and only making the shit worse. Go to a dermatologist and don't try to remedy it yourself.

Some tips:

Don't touch your face. EVER. If you must, touch it with a tissue or something. Don't scratch it, don't get oils on it, don't put unwashed hands on it.

Wash your towels and pillowcases weekly. No exceptions.

Don't rub your face while washing or drying. When you use a cleanser in the shower, GENTLY rub it in with soft circle motions. Don't use a cloth. When drying, DAB your face, don't rub it scrub it. Also, don't over cleanse or anything. A product should not be touching your face for more than 30 seconds or else you're just going to face horrible dryness.

As for moisturizer, Oil of Olay Complete SPF 15 works wonders for me. Get a type labeled for sensitive skin. Not only is it giving your proper moisture, but it's giving you UV protection for daily life.

Again, though, see a dermatologist. If it isn't acne, stuff like salicylic acid compounds will make it WORSE in most cases. And don't listen to ANY of these morons telling you to use "soap". Soap is the worst product ever created for your skin. Get a proper CLEANSER for your face, get a proper MOISTURIZING BODY WASH for your body, keep shampoo OUT OF YOUR FACE. NEVER BUY SOAP AGAIN UNLESS YOU WANT DRY SKIN AND EVEN WORSE REDNESS/ACNE!

Also, sweat. Sweat a lot. This is great for your skin, it's a natural form of cleaning, just don't let sweat dry on your face or you'll get clogged pores.
>> Anonymous
It's probably genetic and washing etc. won't help, as was the case with me. All these stupid products that anon recommends are most likely no help and a waste of your money. Try some medication like tetracycline, but first see what happens if you start taking care of your skin if you haven't already.

I've had acne for about 6 years.

I tried every combination of every over the counter product ever made. They're all basically the same, they're either 1-2% salicylic acid washes or 1-10% benzoyl peroxide.

This helps a little. At one point in time, for about 5 months I was washing my face 4-5 times per day, each time using salicylic acid then applying 10% benzoyl peroxide. Any other person's skin would have gone psycho-apeshit and started cracking and bleeding in like a week but my skin is unnaturally greasy. This is SEVERELY overdoing it, never wash your face that much.

Anyway I went on Proactiv for about 3 months, which didnt really help and make my skin look shiny and greasy as shit.

Finally I went to a dermatologist and went on antibiotics (doxycyclines) for a few months, which didnt help. Then I switched to sulfamethoxazole pills, Differin (a retinoid gel) at night, and Benzaclin (benzoyl peroxide + some other stuff, by far the most intensely drying stuff I ever used) in the morning + moisturizer to keep my skin from drying up too much. I did this for EIGHT MONTHS with improvement, but my acne was always still there; I got a 1-2 new pimples every day.

Finally my dermatologist put me on Accutane (40mg x2 a day, so 80mg a day). All I do is wash with a regular skin cleanser (cetaphil) used to remove makeup/whatever that doesnt contain any anti-acne shit like salicylic acid. Accutane works. I'm almost 2 months in and still getting a pimple or 2 on my face but my chest/shoulders/back acne is completely gone and its only going to get better.

Go see a dermatologist, and find confidence in the fact that if nothing else works, Accutane can still be the light at the end of the tunnel.

make sure you eat right, get enogh vitamine D, and go tan yourself boy, the skin needs sunlight to stay healty, and it seems you lack both sunlight and healthy skin. what helped for me is going to my doctor and making him perscribe something, dont buy things in your local store claiming to help.
>> Anonymous
A lot of it has to do with hormones, that's all mine was and that causes your skin to go psycho and oily . I hit puberty in middle school and so I got all my acne then and it cleared up before high school, now I get a 'stress zit' every once in a while and if anything they are super tiny.
>> Anonymous
i was perscribed accutane, but didnt want to take it. motherfuckers dont even know exactly how it works. plus, shit like chance of permanent dry skin/lips, night blindness, sterility, suicidal tendancies. fuck that, i'd rather have acne.

dip method worked for me
