your chance is very slim of getting tetanus. if you grew up in the united states or canada (and likely other western countries but I do not know for sure) than you have received several tetanus shots already, as part of your immunization as an infant, and likely upon your first year of grade school and possibly first year of high school (they do this in canada). your description implies that there was some blood and coagulation outside the wound. tetanus thrives in the bloodless closed puncture wound type. having said all of that, please go just get a tetanus shot to make sure. tetanus is just about the most painful and agonizing death that anyone could get. even a 1/10000 chance makes the simple, cheap shot worth it. for the record, puncture wounds are not the only types that warrant tetanus shots. any unclean laceration will get you one. nearly every hospital's SOP involves a tetanus shot for any procedure requiring stitches from a laceration or cut or abrasion, and certainly for preparation of surgery, etc. they are doing this as a precautionary measure, and so should you.
