>>193262 I was curious about this before also. It's because just living only takes some portion of energy from fat, and some from carbs. Say regularly, your body uses fat for 10% of its energy needs, and 90% for carbs. When you exercise, that ratio goes higher, and you can use up to 40% purely from fat, 60% from carbs. At the end of the day, it really adds up, and exercise makes fat loss much more effective/quicker.
