how do i increase my pull-ups?
i've been working out for like 3 months now, and the one thing that hasn't increased is my pull-up strength.
I use the weight-assist pull-ups but I always seem to struggle with the same weight.
halp?

get a bar in your house and do them all day, or make it like, every time you go downstairs you have to pay a "fee" of 5 pullups.

Do jumping pullups on the way up, and then do really slow negatives on the way down.

that'd be suicide for me, unless I do jumps as>>189716suggested

What exactly is your pull-up strength? It could be due to carrying too much dead weight.

It's really whatever you can manage, even it's just 1 pullup or even jumping pullups. Like one when you walk into your room, then another one when you leave an hour later. It'll add up over the day, and you won't feel as fatigued if you did all of them in a row. Go google "grease the groove" to learn more about it.

this is awesome advice. I do it. I am up to 10 dead hang overhand in only 6 months. (piss poor form on the last few, for the record). i started off not being able to do more than a single overhand chin. one thing you will notice right away when starting real chins is that your grip is fucking real weak. that gets fixed, big time.

this principle works great for pushups, too. i can do 20 clapping pushups with my feet on top of a high chair or table without missing a beat.

You gain muscle by doing fewer reps + With progressing weights. Doing a lot at once will only "tone" your body. In short, your body has gotten used to how many rep's you've been doing, and not building more muscle.

I do 4 reps 10 sets at a time. Break 2min between every set.

You don't need weights to do pull ups well, here are some super awesome tips!

When you've hit around 5-10 pullups, start to stagger your arms--have one closer to your body, one further away. Reepeat this for both arms (I.E. one set right close, one set left close) until you can get good distance. This will allow you to eventually do one handed pullups, and also allows you to keep gaining strength

You can always try swimming. The butterfly stroke does wonders for lats.
