Working Core with Damaged Spine Anonymous
A few years ago I was in a car crash and was heavily injured, for the most part the injuries healed up, but my spine's vertebrates have been compressed and damaged in the (according to the image) Thoracic and Lumbar areas. I am not paralyzed but spend most of my time in intense pain but was hoping if I could somehow strengthen my core and lighten the load on my spine I could have more of a life than just sleeping and taking pain killers. But I am worried, is it safe, or would core exercises like push ups just cause my spine to become even more crooked or cause me to become paralyzed.

OP, have you considered surgery?

OP, try browsing through spine-health.com if you haven't already

OP, I'm sure you know this, but deadlifts, etc. are a big no-no, you could damage your spine further. Have you tried back exercises like pelvic rotation and bridging? If you strengthen your back muscles, they'll help to support your spine as well.

Also, GO TO A FUCKING DOCTOR IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. This shit isn't to be taken lightly.

I have seen doctors but they give me no conclusive answers, its always just a "meh" kind of fence sitting BS answer.

If i were you i'd fucking google for advice all day, every forum or article in existance.
Your spine is not something to be fucked with.
Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip

Ever entertain the idea of back surgery if it's that bad, OP?
>> Anonymous
I don't understand the reasons but they say back surgery would be pointless and probably just make things worse. Something about the fragments of too much risk of the fragments of my spine shredding the nerves in my body. Yet they tell me not to worry about it and just go ahead and run around trying not to scream in agony wherever you go.

:(
Anyway, there's some specific back-strengthening exercises that you can probably find by Googling for them. Try those. I doubt you'd further damage anything from sit-ups, unless you have a very high body weight.
