what is the difference between dumbbell bench and barbell bench?

is barbell just better due to the fact that you can do more weight? or is there more to it

anyway the gym I go to is great and all but I almost always have the weight room to myself other than some old fucker or some women who couldnt do shit and I don't want to be caught without a spot and not be able to lift it so I'm considering just doing dumbbell bench so if I can't get it up I can just drop them

even a weak person should be able to help you spot surely, they just need to assist by reducing the weight not lifting the whole thing

Dumbbell BPs are more unstable and difficult, which means you recruit more muscle fibres to stabilise.

It also means you can't push as much volume though because your body restricts unsteady movements to prevent self-injury. (proprioceptive feedback)
