>> Anonymous

>> Anonymous
barbell step-ups are ALMOST as good and are a million fucking times easier to learn
>> Anonymous
I fucking laugh at guys squatting heavy in the gym, thinking anyone gives a shit about how much weight you lift while looking like you're riding dick, all the while I'm doing CURLZ FUR THE GURLZ and getting a body that women find attractive. SQUATZ are great if you want to impress other men.

that's because you're fat

I used to not do squatz due to a knee injury. A few weeks back, I decided to try them out.

Great success! More definition than ever.

Question: I only have a barbell with 70lb of weights, is squats even worth it with this? I've been doing 40 before my normal routine, I could do more but my shoulders start hurting from the bar :/

overhead squats. do them.
>> Anonymous
>>175976
Its worth doing them. Combine them with other stuff.

I like to take two dumbells and then either combine it with a shoulder press or a curl/press combo.

Take 30s, squat, stand, curl, press.

or

Take 60s, hold at shoulder level, squat, stand, press.

You could do the same with your bar.

I always fealt that I could put more stress on my thighs via leg presses, so I'll agree.

just REALLY able to put some force into that damned diagonal leg press since balance isn't an issue.

question:
Squats train your back + legs ?
>> Anonymous
>>176066
Squats train everything. No really.
>> ESH !Oj4wGhYfsE
There's not even a discussion to be had.

Real men/women do squats. Faggots do not.

Simple.
>> JESUS
>>176066
Lower back abs and the entire leg.
>> .
squats hurt my knees so i dont do them
for legs i just ride my bike a lot or run
less chance of injury

Cunning 5/10

Squats aren't all about the thighs. They work all the good shit that your leg press doesn't.

i know this is a troll thread; but SQUATZ have given me a far better looking stomach than crunches/situps ever did, in far less time. also, my legs aren't nearly as scrawny.

bench press, squats and shoulder presses are the foundations of my workouts. not a scrawny noob anymore - yay!

You got sum deadlifts in der???

Sexy boi???
>> Anonymous
>>176571
no not yet.
are they as good as squats for working your whole body?

goddamn right i'm sexy. but ronery, so it's undermined by my failure at communication.
>> Anonymous
>>176583

Deadlifts are pretty much on par with squats for the best overall compound lift you can do. You'll get stronger from head to toe doing deadlifts; stronger legs, stronger grip, stronger back, stronger everything.
>> Anonymous
>>176585
awesome. are they as fun as squats (ie, not at all)?
i've been doing squats at the start of every workout, prtly because someone on here said you release more testosterone that way, and mostly because if i don't do them first i won't have the energy to do them and i just want to get them out of the way.
i'll start doing deadllifts first every other workout.

whats the best way to warm up to deadlifts? same as squats? 5 reps of 10lbs less than what i intend to do for the next 4 sets? should they be done 5x5 or differently?
>> Anonymous
>>176585
I find deadlifts are more punishing than squats. Everytime I'm done with them my body is totally beat.
>> Anonymous
>>176598

I deadlift and squat on the same day. I start with heavy squatting to warm everything up... then bench... then move on to deadlift. They're all heavy sets too.

Best way to warm-up would be to start with a pretty damn light weight then move up in decreasing reps to the work set, like DEEES:

135lbs 5 reps 2 sets
185lbs 5 reps 1 set
225lbs 3 reps 1 set
275lbs 2reps 1 set
WORK 315lbs 5 reps 1 set

Obviously scale the weight to your ability. The above is outlined pretty damn well in Mark Rippetoes: Starting Strength... which you really should be familiar with if you want to pack on strength fast, efficiently and as a byproduct of Rippetoe's methods; safely.

I find deadlifts to be so fucking satisfying. The feeling of breaking a huge amount of weight off of the floor and into the air is awesome... and as stated earlier, they leave you beat up as hell, in a good way.

I find that after I deadlift, my metabolism skyrockets for that day. I will eat a huge dinner, and a couple hours later am hungry again.
>> Anonymous
Deadlifts are devastating.
Even more than squats.
>> Anonymous
FUCK YEAH DEADLIFTS!
>> Amuro !nA4kpJCkfU
So, it's well-know that working any muscle group releases the hormone that stimulates muscle growth, and since your entire leg is such a huge slab of muscle, SQUATZ shoot up your entire body with a huge amount of it (Read Ironmind's little book "Super Squats" for well-documented evidence of this)..

..But my question is this. Even though I feel far more wasted after Deadlifts, are they as effective as squatz for encouraging overall full-body growth? More effective? Less?
>> Anonymous
>>176829

Not sure... it has to be a comparable amount... deadlifts are phenominal promoters of all over muscle growth.

I do both, to cover my bases.
>> Amuro !nA4kpJCkfU
>>I do both, to cover my bases.

As do I. However, I don't have a power rack at home, and nothing really comparable to balance my bar on, so with SQUATZ I'm limited to what I can hoist over my head and onto my shoulders.

That's why I'm curious about what Deadlifts do for the whole body-- I'll eventually be able to go heavier on that lift since I won't be concerned with anything pinning me to the floor.
>> Anonymous
fun fact: doing heavy squats make you able to do MUCH heavier on ANYTHING
>> Anonymous
>>176841
this anon speaks truth, plus push press you must do it kids, nothing makes you a formidable wall of meat that just flys thro emobitches like push presses
>> Amuro !nA4kpJCkfU
>>176841
Please re-read my post, sir. I do not have anything to hold my bar while I load it heavy; and I also cannot necessarily lift above my head all the weight that my legs can handle.
