Water Ionizer Anonymous
Alright /fit/, my mom recently bought one of these damn expensive things. She constantly insists that it's insanely healthy for you, yet I can only see it being complete and utter bullshit. Perhaps you guys know some stuff and care to list some sources?

These machines separate salts (soluble metal compounds) by breaking their bonds with water, which in turn dissolves into hydronium and hydroxide ions which are constantly synthesizing into new water molecules. Basically, it's a water softener. The only thing these machines improve (if anything) is the taste of the water by reducing alkalinity, but this is subjective. Different from a water purifier in that it does not remove certain impurities that can be found in water. Don't give your mom a hard time, she's just doing what she thinks best for you :(.

Doesn't that mean you aren't getting enough calcium or something? Excuse my ignorance, but I heard drinking soft water isn't as good as drinking hard water

Yes, anon only gets his calcium from water and not food sources.
