So I'm a trained singer. This may not seem all that relevant to fitness, but bear with me.A few months back I got tired of being an overweight fuck, so knowing I'd be too lazy to create a training regimen on my own I got myself a personal trainer. It's working out great and I've already lost about 20 pounds (I'm down to 195 at 5'10" now, just 10 pounds above what my doctor tells me is my ideal weight). But here's the thing, the trainer has repeatedly criticized my breathing. Being a trained singer, I tend to breathe from the diaphragm and blow out every bit of air I have before taking in my next breath. Apparently this is bad when you're lifting. I'd experienced dizziness a couple times but never really understood what the guy was talking about until today. When my head felt like it was going to fucking explode. I dropped to the floor mid-squat, whimpering, and had to stop exercising entirely. It's been over an hour and my head is still in constant, throbbing pain; we're not sure why, but I may need to go to the hospital if it doesn't die down. I have no other noticeable effects, just the absolute worst headache in my entire life. I was actually sobbing as I drove home.Moral of the story: breathe the right way, fellow newbies. You won't understand why until you're wishing you did it all along.
>>77763Funny, according to my medical doctor it is. I asked if it should be lower but he said that my body type--broad shoulders, barrel chest--shouldn't go below 180. Mind you, most of it is going to be muscle.
