Alright, I'm a fattie and have been a fattie my entire life but I've found inspiration and motivation to make a dramatic change in my life. I was proposed to and we're planning our wedding in July of next year. I'm 22, soon to be 23, and I weigh about 250 pounds. I'd like to not look like a sausage squeezed in to a white dress and its time to get healthier as I'd like to life a long life with my partner and not die at 45 due to fat and dumb.

I've sworn off pop ( I used to drink tons of it ). I've never been a big chocolate / sweets person and don't eat it often. My big weakness is breads and chips and I know I need to heavily reduce my intake of that. I guess the point of this thread is I know I've been a terrible failure up to this point and I'm a little lost at where to go next.

Would starting something like SlimFast be something I should look in to? Should I jump in to a hard ass work out dvd and struggle through it until I can handle it or start out slow?

Any advice would be appreciated!

healthy lifestyle = healthy food and exercise.

Begin by taking looong walks (minimum 1 h). Pace, and do this everyday.

Drink lots of water, eat lots of vegetables and low carb food. Chips once in a blue moon. Treat yourself to keep your motivation going. But do not do it to often and with to much amount of the good stuff.

I'm not an expert, but I'd say some light exersize, long walks and some dieting as previously mentioned.
Once you get your weight down, you could start doing some heavier exersize, but do not not not not just diet heavily, you need to replace some of the fat with lean muscle (amirite?) or you get massive amounts of excess skin and stretchmarks.
