they isolate the muscles you work on, so you won't have any functional strength. unless you buy the extra add-ons to stop from isolating the muscles, which is a shitload more money tacked onto an already expensive purchase, you can get better results from free weights.
this is all i can remember from the articles i've read, OP you should just google "free weights vs machines" and look at some of the well written articles by well regarded bodybuilders to get more insight on this subject.
srsly though, the tl;dr version of those articles are "free weights are better, use machines to isolate a muscle a few sets after you're all done with free weights"
