1. Please learn to type
2. It depends what position you're playing obviously, forwards tend to be significantly heavier than backs who are built for agility and pace

Obviously.

I usually play lock, occasionally 8, I'm trying to figure a good weight to be at.

no, because weight is a stupid measurement

again very dependent on what your exact role is, i'd look for getting the power you want rather than a target weight. speak to your coaching staff... for a great number 8:

dear OP,

I'd say worry less about how much you weigh and more about what type of build you want for a particular position as said earlier in this post.

Obviously a Prop may be a bit more heavy-set than say a left-wing or fly-half, but it depends alot more on your physical capabilities. Personally the team i play on has a full-back that is quite a chunky dude, but he's able to not only put his weight behind his kicks like a beast but also sprint for what seems like half the game.

Personally i try to cut-down on the body fat that weighs you down late-game while maintaining your sprinting burstability with some run-sprint-run drills, but every team has it's own flavor of conditioning.

final note: Am American, and heard a good quote from a coach once: "Rugby is still kinda a new "flavor" here in America, and a typical human response to a new icecream flavor they don't know about is insult it based on it's color and think their favorite flavor superior, even if our flavor comes with extra sprinkles."
