I am not a faggot, so I do not ride a fixed-gear bicycle. No matter what any hipster douchebag tells you, no, it's not easier to climb hills/brake/negotiate traffic on a "fixie." So the bike weighs a pound or two less. The ability to maintain a strong cadence by appropriate gear selection trumps that by far.
The best thing about them is the fact that they make an excellent heuristic mechanism; any person on a fixed-gear bicycle is 99% likely to be a worthless pile of assbirth.
