deadlifts will do fuck all to improve forearms size that kind of static isometric tension does nothing to improve size. if you want to get popeye forearms do wrist curls for 30 reps, then 20, then 15, 10. As you decrease the reps add weight but do not add too much. all you need to do is feel a "pump", strength training will do fuck all for size. this takes a lot longer than most other muscle groups because the forearms respond very slowly, but after 2-3 months you will notice a drastic difference. do this every day.
