Just start doing Cardio. I was using an elliptical for 4 months almost every day and i wasn't halfassing it, i then went for an outdoor run and jesus fucking christ it's alot harder, i had to stop running after about a minute or so. HIIT on a machine cannot compare to outdoor running so i call BS on the majority of those who claim they do proper HIIT for 15 mins. Anyway my point is just start doing cardio and keep increasing the length and intensity until you are in a good state of fitness.
