What's up /fit/, skinny SS (practical programming variant) beginner here.
I'm new to squats. I've read rippetoe instructions on SS and seen some videos on youtube. Today I felt my spine as I was lifting the weight from the bottom position. Is this normal? I've read that squats work the muscles that keep the spinal column erect, and mine surely are pretty weak. Is my form terribly wrong or should I get used to it?

not OP, but i have a problem squatting. i can barely get to 90 degrees, much less ass to grass. if i try, i end up tipping over. the only way i can do it is by getting up on my toes and leaning myself forward, which is bad. like, ive tried it time and time again in my room, but i cant do it no matter what i try differently--looks like my upper leg is just too big? really i have no clue. halp fit!

simple solution:
stand with your heels on 2.5 or 5 lb plates.

its actually a mobility problem, olympic lifting shoes will solve it..but they are expensive as fuck(does samething as 2x4, just more safe). Plus you dont really gain flexibility.
