So ive been hitting up the gym for about 3 months training my upper body. The biggest improvement I've seen in terms of strength is definitely in my pecs, probably due to the fact that every other day im doing bench press.

When i first started i was lifting a mere 65 pounds. After adding more and more each day i could finally do 5 reps/3 sets with 115. But in 2 weeks i have seen ZERO improvement, and in fact I have anti-improved. Today i did 4 reps on my first set before my body said "fuck you" and my spotter had to help me get it back up.

Anyone got any clue of what could be happening? As far as i can tell im doing absolutely nothing different except weight.

Please tell me you're female.

3 Scenarios from Stronglifts:

1. You didn’t achieve 5×5. Retry up to 3 times. Bad days happen.
2. You didn’t achieve 5×5 for 3 workouts. Perform a soft deload.
3. Achieved reps regress as workouts go by. Fatigue sets in. Hard deload.

I'm sorry, what?

Nope, incredibly weak male. I have no idea how people just starting can do much more than whats taken me a few months to build up to

You hit a plateau, you skinny bastard. You need to take a week off or deload for a couple weeks.

Definitely like the ~6th workout i didnt improve on

So according to that thing im nearing my genetic limitation, as Ive been getting plenty of rest and havent changed my workout. Is that possible? 115 seems like such a small amount. Could my genes really blow that much?

115 on what exercise?

also, time to change that routine. start the stronglift from the very beginning whether you like it or not.

How the fuck should I know, what are you like 100 pounds soaking wet? Don't be so quick to blame it on genetics, thats a weak man's excuse. Suck it up and deload for however long you need to, and start at it again.

Why aren't you working out your full body? You'll release testosterone, which will help you grow.

Also are you eating a caloric surplus?

Bench press, i know its quite low

>>294809

I aint blaming it on genetics, I would like very much to not be at some sort of wall. Im simply going by that link's info. But yeah most info so far points to just removing weight and trying to build again

I'm also 160 and 5'10. Which is another cause for concern i have. I can out-do all my friends in most every other exercise, yet they bench at least 25 pounds more. So I'm a tad confused as to what the heck is going on

And thanks for the help so far everyone. I'd post some thank you boobies but this is supposed to be a "work safe" board...

Do you squat and deadlift as well?
Increase your lifting weight on those and your bench weight will go up as well.
deadlift>squat>bench>overhead press
