Looks ok eh?

I just got a 6ft Olympic bar, gonna start heavy squatting.

does it really bang your metabolism into overdrive when you squat a lot?

Surely you have to do upper body work too?

Squats will be the most important exercise in your routine no matter what your goal is. They have numerous benefits.

Though if you want to build your upper body strength, you will have to work your upper body muscles directly. With your 6ft O-bar you can do these very important upper body strength builders.

Floor press(if you have a bench then bench press)

Deadlift

military press

push press (I prefer it over military)

Cleans

snatches

Rows

Exercise in general boosts your metabolism but there's nothing about squats that will directly affect it.

Squats hit almost everything below your chest. Glutes and Quads from the press, abs and obliques to stabalize, even your calves if you do a little calf raise at the end.

Also you might want one of those things that you can rest your bar on in case you can't raise the squat at the bottom and the rack in the picture doesn't have one I don't think.
