Trying to lose weight.

Been doing pushups, calf extensions, and lower back extensions for months to try to piss off big muscle groups that are easy to work so that they'd boost my metabolism. In short: I got a lot stronger but wasnt actually slimming down.

Now ive reduced my calorie intake to about 500 calories a day (slim fast, salads, and water) and joined a gym. 1-2 hours of steep incline treadmill a day at the gym.

I feel much better. I think I can already see results after one week. But is there a catch? Is this actually a stupid plan? Am I starving myself or going to hurt myself?

Im 208 pounds (formerly 230) and looking to get to at least 180 before I slow down. What is your wisdom, /fit/?

Just be sure to keep up your 500 cal diet fo the rest of your life because as soon as you stop it you'll get fat again very fast.

I imagined i needed the 500 calorie diet to be in the red for the standard 2000 calorie +1 hour of activity measurement.

Keeping in the red would lose weight because of being under budget rather than eating a fuckton and then trying to burn it all off forceably -right?

Which is why my weight is dropping. And eventually I can bring it back up to a normal 2000 calories or more based on my activity level if I dont want to lose anymore.

At least thats the way I understand it --shit, I cant take these shakes and 1 salad a day for much more than a year

God. If you are serious, you're going to end up chilled, constipated, depressed and have bad skin within a few weeks on that diet. It's also going to destroy your muscle and target fat last and it's going to give you tons of loose skin. In addition, your liver and kidneys will be constantly strained and you're putting yourself at risk for heart problems by losing weight so fast. You'll also just be tired all the time and be completely slowed down both mentally and physically. FURTHERMORE, after about a month of doing this, you'll just plain stop losing weight because your metabolism has been slowed to a grinding halt. Your body will retain tons of water and toxins. You'll ALSO get insane head rushes everytime you stand up and these may cause very temporary blindness for about five seconds, you might also just plain collapse and crack your head open. Your teeth will begin to decay from a lack of calcium and nutrients, your hair will become weak and fall out, your nails will become yellow and brittle, your resting pulse will go up, your blood pressure may go up, your skin will lose a lot of its ability to heal quickly as well as elasticity, you'll get much more pale, you'll have bags under your eyes, you'll become intolerant to lactose and other foods from not regularly consuming them.

And, in time, you'll die.

If you lose it too quickly, you are most likely: going to be cold as hell all the time, going to develope a god complex and think eating whatever you want won't affect you, and/or be hungry as hell if you eat and drink only those 3 things.

You also get those headrushes from being overweight and/or having high blood pressure. I get those after standing up after kneeling or bending over any longer than 10 seconds, it sucks balls.

I'd also like to add that you'll probably develop anemia in a few weeks from a lack of iron. And your sex drive will drop.

Supplimenting the diet with wide spectrum vitamins to cover bases

Nuts to cover protein loss

I understand those Slim Fast shakes control hunger but I really dont feel that hungry -and thats coming from someone who used to rip half a pizza off for dinner just for the shit of it.

So far no ill effect, is it coming? Should I stop this? What would be a wise correction to make to the plan?

Please, /fit/, really looking for your wisdom -Im just wingin it.
In comment to your comment, ive noticed im not shitting as much or with nearly the volume that i used to but I assume that was because of less input. Is that constipation setting in?

You don't feel hungry because your body is in starvation mode. It's trying to use your stored energy very efficiently and not give up any more than the minimum required to run your basic functions. You're not hungry because your body thinks it's not going to get a proper meal for a long time, so it's trying to conserve energy by avoiding digestion of new food. And when your metabolism slows down like this, you don't want to eat.

And you're not covering any protein loss with nuts on a 500 calorie diet. You could eat 500 calories of tuna every day and it still wouldn't be enough protein.

Basically, you're a moron and you're killing body. How can you even think this is a good idea to lose weight? You're eventually going to get to the point where your body runs out of stored nutrients (and I'm not just talking fat) and you're going to go into a frenzy and binge on everything in sight.

Do it the right way. Getting a good body is not this easy, you need to put work into it.

Well, first you need to actually eat food. Eat three meals a day. Not big meals. Eat snacks between meals. Doing this will keep your metabolism up, but try to not eat a few hours before you go to bed. Then, try and burn some of those calories. Doing that treadmill will help. After twenty minutes of cardio your body starts to burn off its stored calories. So just eat healthy, and keep exercising like you are doing.

Always thought those Slim Fast shakes were geared as meal replacements (with a warning not to make it your only source of nutrition)

Well, I guess Im fucking up.

What would be a better diet? Cause 3 meatless salads a day is like 90 calories --I dont see what I could be doing better here cept going back to cheeseburgers

Nobody can be this stupid. Do you honestly not see any sort of middle ground between salads and cheese burgers? Dipfuck. Get off my /fit/.

>>167645
You are really fucked up if the only two foods you know of are salads and cheeseburgers.

Jesus, look up healthy recipes on Google or something.

Basically, stay away from sugar, try and lower your fat intake, and carbs are okay, but try not to eat them unless you plan on burning them. Something else you can do as an alternative to slim fast is to get a lot of fiber. Fiber makes you feel less and helps get shit out.

feel less hungry, lul

Sorry for seeming like a fuckhead but with this exercise and diet I thought I was fighting "hungry"

I mean im sure other fat people would agree that we confuse "hungry" with "just not being full" and I thought if i felt satisfied -then i wasnt hungry -in which case I could just eat enough to keep me alive -add vitamins and minerals -and let my body chew the fat for whatever else it needs.

Was pretty happy I didnt WANT half a pizza anymore

But I understand what you're all saying. I really like those shakes though -not because they're especially tasty but I appreciate the convenience. No time for breakfast? A shake -at least i didnt skip a meal. Dinner before or after the gym? A shake -just go to the gym and get it over with. I mean it compresses eating time to about 9 seconds of chugging.

If Id like to hang on to those (oh -and they're cheaper than real food ---im poor --damn me) could I just make lunch a real dish instead of salad? Say any chicken entree at some eat-out place? Would that cover my calorie and nutrient intake problem? Or should I really give up on the shake and try to space out a real diet program which is more work but maybe less mortality rate

You realize using those shakes as meals for long term is going to really fuck up your digestive system, right? You need solid fucking food.

Stop fucking starving yourself, Jesus Christ.

Metabolism is not as easily fucked with as /fit/ would like to believe. 500cals is not really healthy, but you can go much lower than the recommended and still be fine. 1200-1700 a day would be okay. Just eat at least one and a half solid meals a day, every day and not the same over and over.

Your metabolism is essentially impossible to change. Eating 500cal and getting yourself to 150lbs and than eating 2500cal a day will produce the same weight gain results as if you lost weight eating 1700cal a day over a much greater time period and then went back to 2500cal.

Many thanks -adding a solid non-salad meal to my mix
Will give up the shakes as a approach closer to my goal (Which is not to be fit, just not to have a belly that stretches my shirts -i promise)

Can stay away from sugars easy enough but a brief question about the relationship between carbs and calories. If i have a good amount of carbs in my diet and work out --am i burning my carbs INSTEAD of calories? Or am I burning both and the carbs are just keeping me energetic and from dipping into a coma?

Sorry to ask /fit/ all the stupid questions but any googling about dieting and weight loss comes up with 50 ads for weight loss pills and 10 recipes for saw dust fiber pancakes from russia.

Many thanks for tolerating me, /fit/

OP should follow the diet, eventually we will have one less idiot no longer able to post here.

Not sure what I did to earn the scorn of /fit/

Just trying to slim down and guessed most of the plan.

Just had a big ass chicken entree for lunch -hopefully that balances things out better and gives me energy for the gym this afternoon.

Ideally speaking, I shouldnt die.
