Sup /fit/, long time 4chan lurker, first time /fit/ poster.

Lets keep it short and simple - I am going to start running at 5 AM everyday at my school's track. Target goal is a good 40 minutes of exercise.

Does exercising in the morning have more benefits to the body as opposed to exercising at other times?

combine with lots of sleep and a good diet, otherwise you'll be hurting yourself before a month goes by.

It can if your starting to eat right, drink right and sleep right. If your not sleeping at least 8 hours a day and not eating properly though, dont try it

The sleeping might be hard. Between work and school it might be an issue, I currently average about 5 hours a night.

Make sure to lift weights too, cause if you just run while losing body fat your body is going to lose muscle too.

it is easier to do than exercising in the evening

I do intense cardio in the morning before breakfast and hit the weights at night several hours before sleep. I'm happy with the results.

working out in the morning wakes you up good and gives you lots of energy.

OF COURSE that is if you're eating right and sleeping enough like everyone in this thread has said. i personally find exercising before i eat anything in the morning very good as i get my exercise out of the way in the morning and have the afternoon to relax. plus a morning shower makes more sense 'cause you're all sweaty and smelly.

Get at least 7 hours of sleep. 40 minutes of cardio is a lot if you're running at a fast pace. Remember to stretch before and after too, usually twice as much after than before.

I also heard that during any sort of cardio, it's good to speed up and sprint in mid-workout. It raises your overall heart rate throughout the workout, and burns more calories to boot (as opposed to just raising your speed very slightly through the overall workout).

Informative thread is informative.

Thank you everyone.

Morning cardio is known to burn more fat but it can also be carbolic and muscle eating; you can counter this with about 40 grams of whey protien in the morning before you hit the track.

The only other thing is running is high impact exercise and I don't know too many runners who don't eventually succumb to knee problems. If I were you I'd do something lower-impact and limit running to twice a week.
