At 230, you shouldn't. If you absolutely must do cardio, bike or swim if you can get past the embarrassment issues of being seen in public with your shirt off.
At a 2,000 kcal diet you shouldn't even be suffering, just give it time. Your body will adjust to the new food intake. Just learn to eat balanced food, plenty of fruits and vegetables, and enough protein for your body weight. Carbs won't hurt you but eat wholegrain.
Overall, it isn't hard. It just sounds like you don't want it enough. You've got to want it, no matter what. Suddenly, a 2,000 kcal diet and exercise will become the easiest thing ever for you.
And people's perception of you, at least physical, will change.
