So, /fit/, fat tub of lard here. About two months ago I decided to change myself around. Minimum half an hour of cardio every day, no Dr. Pepper, no fast food, lots of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, etc.. Been working about pretty good for me. I've lost thirty pounds so far.

For cardio, due to my massive bulk, I chose to stick to a brisk walk so as to not pound my knees into mush. It did the trick as far as weight loss goes, and I'm getting considerably more fit, able to go faster and farther without killing myself.

Now, the problem here is, out of the blue, with no memory of any pains or problems during my walks, I've been getting some knee discomfort. I wouldn't call it pain most of the time. It's just when I'm standing straight it sort of feels like my knee is bent just a little bit too far the wrong way, when it obviously isn't, since I'm just standing there. And in situations where I have to stay on my feet for hours on end (work) it gets a bit uncomfortable, with occasional twinges of pain.

I imagine this is not a good thing. Anybody else experience this and find a solution? Or should I just go to a doctor and cut down on the cardio?

Go to a doctor. Knees are something you don't want to take chances with.

make sure that you are working out your quadriceps (muscles on the front of your thighs) equally as your hamstrings (on the underside of your thigh). unequal muscle strengths can lead to knee problems and fuck you up etc. could be your problem. try to get your quadriceps and hamstrings about equal in strength.

hit your knee caps with hammers until you hear it click or crack. that will be the joints popping into place. then go straight out on a few miles long run to test it out. feel the burn. no pain no gain.
