Quick question /fit/. This should be easy.

I'm trying to lose weight and gain a little muscle at the same time. What kind of dietary problems should I watch out for? I'm normally running on 3 meals a day.

Breakfast - cereal
Lunch - sandwich (bread, meat, low fat mayo, mustard, cheese and usually veggies). Sometimes some pasta salad or something like that as a supplement or for variety.
Dinner - varies pretty widely but often a balanced meal with salad, meat of some kind and a little bread/rice/pasta.

If I'm trying to lose weight and keep my muscles, roughly how many calories should I consume? Is 10xlbs a good measure?

If you are serious about losing fat you should eat more often and less per meal with about 10xlbs for a base count of daily calories and with the largest meal being the first. It works, I have lost 40lbs so far with this method and working out regularly. Also you should read burn the fat feed the muscle, its in rs I believe. It will tell you all you need to know.

Here's a method that I've used. Eat a small meal here and there not too much. Just like (No. 189857) had mention earlier in the previous post muscle eats fat, therefore do cardio exercise for a minimal of 15 min and maintain a pulse rate of approx. 100-110 pulse/min. This is the best way to burn fat. Of course food is essential too, you need energy to move so yeah DO EAT!
