alrighty... so i have a question for the smart ones here...

in the next week i have alot of work to do, storyboarding, three papers to write, a monolog to memorize and an art history test to study for...and i am tempted to take adderall to help me get through it all... i have never taken any prescription drug for recreational purposes so i am worried...also i have never done any drugs like weed, shrooms or any psychoactive drug...

and im worried what it will do to me if i since it hasnt been prescribed to me... i know it will keep me up and focused, just from what my friends tell me... but what will it do to me, say a couple of years down the line...i want to take it and be confident in the fact that it will do more good than harm...

tl;dr = drug virgin has alot of work this next week and is worried about taking adderall to help him through it all...

Adderall has been known to cause sudden heart failure in young people.

Don't take it unless you absolutely have to. And make sure it was prescribed to you. DO NOT TAKE IT WITHOUT FIRST BEING EVALUATED.

>Stories of students writing papers for an unusual number of continuous hours [(e.g., 14 hours], or cramming all night for an exam with no loss of energy or concentrations are common. However, the user reportedly can suffer from drastic side effects the following day if Adderall was used to avoid a normal sleep pattern. These reported side effects include temporary loss of vision, sleeping over 14 hours, muscle spasms, vomiting, mental confusion, etc.

Thats if you overdose. But I agree, if you have some heart condition though, don't take it without a prescription after seeing a doc.

In most people, it just causes insomnia

OP here...
well what would be the proper "normal" dosage be... how many miligrams
>> Anonymous
15-27mg, prolly. 56 is -possible- but I would advise against.

Whenever I would give one of my friends a pill they would be hyper for an hour or two and then feel very nauseous. Who knows.

that is not recreational purposes, it's performance-enhancing purposes. go for it, start with a small dose, you will do great and not an hero or anything. it is way safer than other stimulants (caffiene, ephedra, etc).
>> Anonymous
also don't take for a long period of time, you'll get psychologically dependent and less interesting and unhappy. two weeks won't be bad.

be sure you are eating right and exercising too, that gives you more energy than drugs do.

any more advice on this topic anon?

if you can get your hands on XR then thats the least likely to do anything bad. it's extended release so you're not going to get a full amphetamine rush at once. if you're healthy, as in healthy weight, normal blood pressure and no heart problems then you will be fine.

Don't take so many class credits next time so you don't have to cram or become reliant on taking a miracle pill.

i waited until the last minute for 95% of everything in college..the 5% was when i studied 3 or 4 days in advance for finals

its not the fact that im taking alot... its the fact that my major is animation...
and I'm taking the hardest class that the animation department offers... advanced storyboarding....

pretty much a shitton of work to do... always

also doesnt help that i am too one of those people...
fuck me

Oh, nooooo. Animation must be so fucking hardcore! Drawing?! Storyboarding?!! Man, all those kids writing a thesis and doing extensive research must be on easy street!

Man up. Your major is drawing.

wow fuck you shithead
animation is much harder than you make it out to seem...

have you ever done a storyboard, when in every single frame you must consider composition, balance, arranging the camera to do so... all for the singular purpose to convey the characters psyche at that moment... AND this all has to be created by the artist... with every single drawing...

for every minute of animation there is usually 100-150 drawings just for the storyboard (the best ones)...
animators are, artists, producers, directors, AND actors all rolled into one... we don't just "draw"

and fuck you and your easy majors...

"oh wow i have to write a thesis on a topic that has been done several hundred-thousand times before... in which all my research has been done for me... which, with work, can be done in a few weeks of hard work... oh woe is me!"

Your amount of work may be large, but the amount of intelligence required is a joke. Don't get all pissy because the guy next to you is writing on thesis on L Phenylalanine while you are staving away performing monotonous, unceasing and definitely unrewarding work. Enjoy your animation degree and your poor life.

I was the one that trolled you, and I'm sticking to it.

No, I haven't drawn a single sketch in my entire life. But I have graduated from an Ivy, translated a full Japanese novel, published a peer-reviewed journal article, and am now attending a top law school.

Drawing pictures, huh? Must be rough.

Adderall is fucking awesome, it turns you into a focused studying machine. Plus, it goes well with online shooters...

Then again, it is SPEED

and im sure that some 30 page thesis on some amino acid is going to get that person a job...

"wow great punctuation.... and your grammar is top of the line!... i really liked that one bit the 4th page through... it really sold me on how it hydrophobic nature can ...bla bla bla... here have my job, because you can obviously reiterate information much better than I can..."

and your notion that they are unintelligent is entirely naive, along with your comment about it being unrewarding... when was the last time that you wrote a paper and at the end said, "wow i that was immensely satisfying, you know what, i think I'm going to watch it again show all my friends how cool it is!"

ya ok...

Ignorance is bliss. Keep telling yourself that what you are doing is rewarding. Enjoy long hours performing busy work for a subpar 30k, a useless degree that will get you nowhere in the job field, and a laughable title.

Your lack of intelligence fails to see that others enjoy Chemistry and that their work and studies will actually land them a stable future and a respective title. Their research will have profound effects on society and advance many fields while your slave labor will amount to almost nothing, unless you seemingly make it big. Dream on kid.

Actual prescribed Adderall XR user here, really don't recommend it, it fucks me up bad the next day when I have overdosed, for a non-prescribed user, I really would not recommend this. There are better methods for helping yourself focus, and you can prolong the need for sleep without outside help. And if you have to you can use energy drinks, which will still not mess you up as bad as this.

>temporary loss of vision
Never experienced before
>sleeping over 14 hours
split into two very close sleep cycles everytime I overdose even a little
>muscle spasms
Happens to my arms
>vomiting
Occasionally felt that way
>mental confusion
Everytime, no exceptions

Don't do it. Figure out other means. I hate the fact I even need to use this stuff to focus. One day I hope I can train my mind to the point where it isn't necessary. Also I was considering going into animation at one point because I have a natural talent for that sort of stuff, won't believe what I actually ended up majoring as, keep up the good work Anon!

energy drinks are so bad for you... all that sugar just makes you crash after an hour or so...

i got through my bs in medicinal chem without prescription drugs. on finals week i used to go 3 or 4 days with only short 30 minute powernaps adding up to like 2 hours over that entire period. just drink a lot of coffee.

I take 20mg doses of mixed dextroamphetamine salts.. basically a generic form of instant release Adderall. I love it. I only take it when I need it, but it really does turn you into a studying machine.

I've been diagnosed with ADD though, and this is a prescription. As long as you keep your dose low, which I would consider under 20mg, there shouldn't be any long term effects. It's one of the most used drugs in academia, and it really wouldn't be if the risks were anything worth worrying about.
