ADD.

Who here has it? And what other treatment options are there, other than drugs? I'm just entering my senior year of HS (soon to not be underageb&) and I'm feeling myself grow even less focused than I used to be. I get distracted by the most trivial things, suffer mental blanks on a regular basis, and get lost in thought during absolutely anything - even sex. The weird thing is, I'm very high up in my class, and have around a 4.1 unweighted GPA. Therefore, nobody's going to believe me, parents included, if i tell them that I feel like I have it. I've taken those online questionnaires, and they've suggested that i'm at high risk for it, but I doubt any of those would pass muster as proof.

tl;dr: how do I take care of ADD/ADHD without having to confront doctors or 'rents?

Maybe you just have an insane amount of creative energy waiting to bubble out with the right outlet. High school environment, hell institutions can be very... mundane. What do you end up thinking about? What makes you distracted? What are some example thoughts that you have? Everyone is CONSTANTLY thinking.

I have AADD.

DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE
DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE
DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE
DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE
DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE

If it isn't significantly impacting your life, don't worry about it.

It's not like I'm distracted by anything constructive. It's sort of like right now - I'm posting on 4chan instead of taking notes on Othello. I know I should be doing work, and that 4chan is the black hole of productivity, but I can't hold my focus on any one subject - something I see out of the corner of my eye will drag it away, or I'll remember that I have to do the laundry, or I'll feel a need to get up and walk around.

For what it's worth, I'm all about creativity; I write and work in theatre (on and off-stage) in my spare time, and these do monopolize my thoughts. However, it's not like I don't enjoy school. I really like it, to be honest, and I appreciate the way it gives a more eclectic mix of subjects than I'd normally tackle.

PROTIP: You can't get "lost in thought" if you have ADD

ive had adhd since i was young but realized i just dont need the pills. i dont take them and do fine. 35 act national merit etc.

i think if yor smart enough it doesnt make a difference. mines so bad i can barely have conversations with people. ill ask a question myself and not listen to the answer.

if you can get ahold of adderal you could take it for tests and such in college tho. im gonna do that this year, heard it does wonders.

seriously, just kill yourself. thats my best advice for you. i dont want people like you wasting taxpayers money to produce hippie drugs so you think you can feel normal in society. i hope you leave the world the same way you entered it, a screaming virgin. that is all

I was diagnosed when i was in middle school. It's not an extremely horrible thing. sometimes people think you're really stupid though when you're probably not. Also ADD/ADHD people tend to act kind of immature when they get excited about something. even though i personally think these kinds of people are probably more creative especially without meds.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school, although it is classified as a legit kinda-sorta learning disability, nothing was done about it. No IEPs.. no accomidations or anything.

It didn't really completely interfere with school-work until middle-school, studying is basically impossible unless I load myself up with caffeine and lock myself in a room completely 100% devoid of noise, and studying a chapter or two will take easily 2-4 hours.

BTW, I'm a college freshman now.
