weight loss Anonymous
Hello /fit/, I've been trying to lose weight for the past few months, i started out at about 190 lbs, and am currently about 158 lbs and 5'9", been watching what i eat and been doing squats and walking for exercise, but lately i seem to be stuck, my weight fluctuates between 155-160 but never seems to go below and was wondering if you had any ideas or suggestions.
>> Anonymous
i already told you what to do in the last thread.
>> Anonymous
I should also probably mention ive been taking a multivitamin, my diet mostly consists of lean meat, honey nut cherrios, and salad with very little if any dressing(mostly when i do use dressing its just some vinegar), and im mostly just trying to lose weight without gaining much muscle.

last thread?

I usually just browse threads, first time acctually posting something in /fit/ so i don't know what other thread your talking about.

Stop eating honey nut cheerios. If you need to eat cereal stick with regular cheerios, it's pretty much the best cold cereal. And make sure you're getting enough good fat too.

ok, normal cherrios, and what would be something that wouldnt require much if any prep that contains good fat?

eat 1600 calories per day. Mostly lean proteins, vegetables. Avoid starchy crap. Eat raw nuts for snacks, fruits, etc.

To be honest you should know what not to eat by now. Also don't forget to do some lifting.

Fuck Honey Nut Cheerios, fuck regular Cheerios, try Muesli. In fact, fuck Muesli, just eat oats.

Nuts are a great source of fat that takes no preparation.

What's your body look like? How much fat?
Right now I think your body got use to the low calorie diet so the diet isn't going to help anymore. You need exercise.

WALNUTS AND OATZ

Well you need to exercise more. Honestly lifting right now wont put a lot of muscle on you. You need to eat a lot to make significant gains. So if you're jsut trying to lose weight working out won't hurt. You need to burn more calories because your body got use to eating right and low calorie.

Don't eat shit late at night. Take bacon off your sandwiches. Take mayo off your sandwiches (put oil and vinegar on instead). More in the morning, less at night. Exercise. Quit pissing and moaning bitch.

O my God my eyes...

You need to put on some muscle. NOW!
Hit the gym it'll help with both problems.

If not then CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO!
If you're on a good diet and not losing weight you need to exercise.

Your diet seems alright (need more info about frequency and amount you are eating), except replace cheerios with oats. Get over the bland taste, and just wolf it down. Exercise more if you aren't losing weight. Depending on how much you are eating, you may need to eat more and thus exercise more to counter the food intake.

More cardio, since you don't want muscle. If you want to experiment, you can try a very very high weight:reps ratio weight training, I have heard that it increases strength, but does not increase muscle. I emphasise that it is just what I have heard.

Yo bro. Get muscle. Also eat more. Shit nig, you aren't going to get anywhere. I'm 5'9"~5"10ish and I tried to starve+exercise away the fat for 2 years before /fit/ showed me what a dumbass I was. Here's what'll happen when you eat only slightly below maintenance (+exercise expenditures) in only 2 month's time if you're doing it right with exercise and weight lifting added. 160 lb in first pic, 165 lb in 2nd, 167 lb in the 3rd, which is just two months later.

The problem is that all your current dieting has washed away all your muscle and does this to maintain whatever fat left on you. The solution is to get your fucking metabolism back on track, eat eat eat and exercise if you're afraid of gaining from it--BUT YOU HAVE TO EAT.

so basically, i just need to continue with my diet but eat more than i am, as well as more exercise?

Carbs toward morning. Split those three meals up into 5. Protein intake equal with every meal. Fat toward night to mobilize bodyfat utilization while you sleep. And exercise will rev it all the shit up.

Basically right now you're dumping food inside of you and it's not really going anywhere, just waits in line for fat storage if it has to wait in line too long. When you exercise, that line moves a lot quicker and at the end of the day there isn't anyone left over to be stored as fat. Also they go to your muscles too.

Your diet is horrible. Horrible. You need to eat more grains, rice, meats, a BALANCED diet. See, right now all your diet is doing for you is slowing down your metabolism to a crawl, hence you are not losing weight nor are you toning your body. You need to eat more vegetables, fruits, proteins to get your body revved up. What you eat right now is starving your body, even if you do not know that right now. And since you are not doing any strength training that builds muscle, your poor diet is eating up any muscle left on your body, instead of using your fat. Why? Because your body uses muscle for strength, and once those muscles become inactive, your body takes nutrition from the energy rich muscles, NOT your fat.
Muscles weigh more than fat, so when you start strength training, you may gain a little more. But it is the UP in intensity of strenght training that helps your body through the plateau. Then, once you have gained a lot of muscle, your metabolism goes faster a lot more during the day, thus using your nutrition from a proper diet as fuel, which activates your muscles more, then eats up the fat on your body. And dude, just research on google on a strength training routine...they can even be done on your own home with an exercise mat, your own body, and some weights that you are comfortable with.

Finally, lifting weights and strength training is HELPFUL to your body. Ever see someone lose a bunch of weight and they are all flab and skin? With strength training, you lose weight and the result is not flab, but muscle and a toned sleek body. Stop being lazy and do a full work out, cardio plus strength.
