Hi, fit. I'm 26 and weigh around 540ish pounds. I'm going to be visiting someone for two and a half months and basically giving myself a new jumpstart on life away from all my enablers and such. Aside from going to Overeaters Anon meetings, I wanna start getting some excersice. Can fit recommend some dosages of such as it were? She lives upstairs in an apartment, so I'll be getting some stair working as well.

If I were you OP, I would concentrate on exercise very much yet, it may put too much strain on your heart.

I'd just diet for the first 100Ibs, then maybe some light cardio and go from there.

go walking: put insoles in your shoes and double up your socks to prevent blisters. walk as often and as far as you can. walk to the store, the library, the mailbox, etc. the sunlight will cheer you up and help your body metabolize calcium (moar muskles).

lift weights. thrift stores and craigslist sell cheap weights often. or use empty juice bottles with handles and fill them with sand or water.

if you really are 540ish you need to seriously consult a doctor before doing ANYTHING. you should prolly diet for a few months, if not 6 before you even do any working out. secret to americas biggest loser is they have EMTs with defib's standing by!

OP, google for physical therapy exercises. They're used to rehabilitate injured people post-operation to be able to walk / move again. Even though you are very heavy, you can do the PT exercises to build up some basic strength without killing yourself (pun intended).

Posting in this thread too since I'm a fatass. I'm 5'5" and 240. Measurements are 46-36-48 (yes, I'm a girl). I'm tired of being this size--I'm hoping exercise will not only help me lose inches, but Jesus Christ am I sick of these fucking tits. I'm not trolling here, I know guys like tits, but I really am tired of these fuckers getting in my goddamn way all the goddamn time. I want them to shrink along with the rest of me. XD

Thanks /fit/ for giving me motivation to get serious about it. I made an appointment with a nutritionist already and I just transferred to a school where gym fees were charged with everything else on my bill. So I want to make use of what's there.

You guys say to start with bike exercises, right? What else would be good for me?

Thanks to all of you, and the rest of the thread, for giving me tips. As much as I probably should, a doc/nutritionist isn't really an option atm, money wise, but I will take it easy. I'll have the stairs to the apartment, as well as lots of parks with benches to walk around, some light free weights, nutritious meals of reasonable size and the love of someone I hold dear. Perhaps I'll keep /fit/ posted, for my own cathartic sake if not to bait the people that want fodder.

I'm a fat ass too 6 ' 5" 350 LB. But i'm ass shit lucky though. My shoulders are F-ing huge. So i look like i'm beef cake and my gut is not visible when i'm wearing an untucked button up shirt or a 3xlt shirt . I used to weigh at my max 490 lbs.

I had gotten down to 200 once but I was then hospitalized for PTSD, Anorexia, and Suicidial Depression. And they forced me to start eating again. Hospitalized a second time for it and attempted suicide too.

I gained it all back in just two years. But I have to say i actually like being fat me more. You really know who the real good people are. It really fucks with your head going from super fat to super skinny and just seeing how differently people treat you. It really made me angry and hate the world because I was still the same person they just treated me different because I was able to wear XL sizes.

I started off at 240, with mild hypertension, and now I'm at 215, and pretty much am just working to get cut up, since i kinda missed out on it when i first started lifting. Anyway, you really start to loose sight on who actually likes you for who you are, but at least you do have those people who stuck by you during the starting phase.

Did you see me complain. I wear 3xlt shirts for extra baggyness and 2xlt for normal every day wear. I could go to loose maybe 40 or 50 which i can do very easily when i went from 490lb to 200lb it was from Febuary 2005 to November 2005 and during that time I was also Wired shut for 2 months at the end due to having to have jaw surgery to fix tmj and a major underbite that due to how i forced it back caused my bite to give me terrible stress headaches. I make sure to eat no more than 1600 calories a day and i do yoga and pilates using my 40 inch HDTV and my apple tv to follow the podcasts i subscribe to. I maintain my weight at between 320 and 350 now for the last year and its fine by me.

One thing is when i lost all that weight I took a year off from school which then grew to three with all the other complications for being labeled anorexic. The daily schedule for me to loose that weight was wake up at 4:30 Make an 3x eggwhite omelet and 2 slices of sprouted wheat Ezekile bread toast with sprayed flavored olive oil. Then also a multi vitamin, 4 different types of supplements i took for the first 2 months as part of a detox to clean out my system which by it self with out working out i lost 50 lbs. I would then go to the gym by 5:30 at the latest and do stretching for 30 mintues. Doing basic kicks and bar streches as well as leg twists and some yoga for my back and neck and legs. Then I would do cardio for 45 mintues switching between eliptical, rowing machine, mechanic Staircase, and treadmill each day. drinking from a gallon jug that had 3 scoops of milk whey protein powder then I would start on the circuit do the entire thing doing 4 sets of 25 raising the weight by 10 lbs each one from 30 lbs below my max out and on the last one after my max just ad 5lbs.

Then when i was done with that I would do either a hour long yoga class or pilates class. take a break and have a Protein bar and drink some more water with whey protein in it. Now back to cardio again for another 40 switching it up between all the machines. Then I would stretch for 15 to 20 minutes. Then do the free weights focusing on legs, midsection, in random sets. doing 5 sets of low weight or about 2/3 my max out to build endurance. once done with this I then go and stretch once more for 15 to 20 minutes. And then lastly I would do one more of 45 minutes of cardio. But this would be at super hard pace and really working my self . When done stretching for 30 minutes and cool down either going to the dry sauna or steam room drinking water all the while.

I would go home then which was usually around 2 oclock or 1 oclock at the earliest. I would stop by the Whole foods and pick up a package of fresh just ground buffalo meat. Some turkey bacon, raw goat cheese, and omega-3/5/12 DHM Chicken eggs. Go home and cook that up putting it again on a Sprouted wheat Ezekiel bread bun. with steam spinach and other dark green veggies with Acai or pomagranet jucie that also had whey powder in it.

My diet was actually around between 1200 to 2500 calories a day all in mostly in organic natural proteins. I was eating based on a diet my Dietician recommend called the caveman's diet which is about eating foods as raw and unprocessed as possible and only thing that could easily be hunted or gathered .... raw goat milk is the best. Then I would just read the rest of the day till around 8:30 on Tuesdays Thursdays and Sundays where i would then go out to this sushi bar I would randomly DJ at and if not DJing I would be dancing from 8:30 to 2 am when they closed. I would get 3x quail eggs, and 1 order tuna sashimi and drink tons of water.
