so /fit/, I read here last night from someone that walking fast is good exercise in the long run (meaning you do it for a long time). Being a fattie, I can't really even run unless I want to lose my legs. I do 3.5 mph, which is basically fast walking. But, is what that guy said true? I go for 55-60 minutes a day, by the way.

well, i walked 15-20 miles a day at work for 4 months (landscaping) and i didn't lose a pound (5'10 190) i lost 60lbs running/jogging though.

Unless it gets your heart rate up above some number and keeps it there it wont really help.

it sounds cliche but
no pain no gain

Walking 3 miles and running 3 miles burns the same amount of calories, you just don't get the added benefit of getting your heart rate up to improve your cardiovascular system. Walking for an hour is great but when you can, start to jog whenever you can and work your way up.

Sounds good. I started about a month ago, and couldn't even get a mile done. But I think I'm improving. Slowly, yes, but I don't expect results that fast. I do try do a 5 mph jog through out the first mile is over, but I may just do that more through out the entire thing.

just use and elliptical machine if you can if you feel you're gonna loose your legs.

the added benefit to jogging/running 3miles as opposed to walking 3miles, is that it makes your metabolism work longer.
