So, I started hitting the heavy bag lately, with no real problems. The only thing is the skin between my last two knuckles gets blood blisters (or what I call blood blisters). It happens whether or not I wear gloves, so it's not the equipment's problem.

Just wondering if something I might be doing wrong is causing this, or if it's normal side-effect of punching a heavy bag.

Pic related, it's my hand.

I don't wrap my hands.

I thought it might be pinching in something in a glove, but even barehanded I get them.

then try wrapping them.
Shit is cheap and protects your hands.
for example:

Are you serious?

Does that even fucking hurt you?

If not, that shit is the biggest pussy magnent you will ever see.

See now, subconciously girls will pick that up fast, and it will register in their minds that you can protect them/know how to fight/are a badass.

My advice, GET MOAR AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT A RED FUCKING DOT.

A FUCKING RED DOT!

Wrap your hands, nigger.
This keeps your hand bones and knuckles secure and in place. Also, lotion.

I'll try getting and using some handwraps. The reason I didn't is because I'm not boxing, so I'd rather have useful hand and wrist strength without relying on gear.

Or I'll do like>>129902suggested and flaunt my battle-wounds, so to speak.

But no one has a suggested cause of this, other than lack of wrapping? I shouldn't be worried that I'm doing it wrong in any severe way?

you're pinching the softer, thinner skin between your knuckles and giving it something akin to a hickey, it's inevitible and will probably go away after a few more times

nothing wrong.
It's just a small vessel that burst on impact or skin irritation.
But honestly, it's really a neglectable thing, you must not be used to hard labor.

Don't wear gloves, and don't wrap your hands.

And hit the fuckin' bag with your FIRST TWO knuckles, make sure your wrist is flat and your knuckles line up with your elbow (bent slightly) and your shoulder.

They'll skin at first, but callous later and then you'll feel maximum power.

You're not wearing wraps?
Pft, be happy with that boxer's fracture. The heavy bag does nothing to condition, it is a tool to learn how to punch. If you want to condition, hit a wall after bag work (with all point on your hands and arms), then massage your hands after.

I have been practicing karate for nearly three years, and I am aware of proper punching, and I am sure I've been hitting with the first two knuckles. They haven't suffered any skinning or blistering, which was why I was confused with this.

If you're hitting the bag hard enough, the fist will still sink in enough to cause the blood thing to happen, even if you are punching correctly.
>> sage
Awesome Op. Keep punching away because your skin will harden. Just normal for this to happen.

fucking pussy

Why is OP hitting bags with the weaker knuckles? Don't tell me that's how boxers punch.

see

there's about a half-inch difference between my middle knuckle and my pinky knuckle, for example. A decently powered punch on all but the hardest bags is going to let my fist sink in enough to where the pinky knuckle is in contact with the bag.

I don't seem to have the hickey thing happen as much when I'm bare-fisted, and less so when my hands are wrapped.

I use to get thoes my first year of boxing. Eventually you'll toughen up.

can someone please elaborate why would those be weaker knuckles? you guys realise the idea is to have your thumb down when striking...

Yes, but I'm saying there will be no real damage you should be worried about, like fuckin' red dots.

Also they'll callous and numb internally, then you wont notice anything except for when hard surfaces cave in.

You have sissy hands. You probably can't change your own oil.

Wrap your goddamn hands you retard.

I hear about those two knuckles getting broken a lot in untrained fighters
>> Anonymous
Just keep hitting the bag. In time your knuckles will harden up. Same shit happened for me when i first started hitting the bag year ago.

It is probably the way you are hitting the bag. If you hit it and turn your fist or the bag spins a bit that is why youre getting those. I got those things on my hands before.
