Crunches won't be effective, they are for toning not weight loss. Now, to lose the weight, you need to do the following.
Diet, exercise.
Dieting is fairly simple, google a calorie intake calculator, enter the info, and eat the right ammount of calories, split over 5/6 meals a day.
for exercise, get 45 minutes a day, walking is good for your size, once you adjust, after about 2 months (gives time for your joints to strengthen) you can start jogging instead.
