Healthy snacks?

I normally eat some canned tuna with a few saltines or a banana.

Bowl of oatmeal with a banana chopped up.

Eat some nuts. Get some fat free plain yogurt throw in some nuts and fruit and shit. Delicious. Oatmeal is great too.

Quinoa + tomato sauce + low fat ricotta

Is canned tuna actually good for you? Does it depend on what it's preserved in or whatever?

What kind of nuts? Just mixed nuts or anything specifically?

Shit in water is supposed to be the better choice. Then people are going on about the mercury content in it.

I think that walnuts are like the most nutritionally dense. I think. google that shit to make sure. And seeds are great too.

You don't have to worry about the mercury unless you're a young kid, or an elderly person, or pregnant. In that case you eat certain kinds of tuna.

Sunflower and Pumpkin seeds are good for you.

Check this out for a list of good recomendations:

Low fat cottage cheese. I know alot of people don't like it, but its under 200 cal/cup with 28 grams of protein/cup. Can't really beat it. Add a little roughage and you're good for hours.

what about a can of v8? is that good?

Hardly heard of any of the shit on that list, I doubt most of it is easily found at your typical supermarket.

However, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, and plain fat free yogurt should make a good and easy to find snack.
Oatmeal and banana
Canned tuna

Looks like I'm gonna be looking for these things at the store this week, any more suggestions?

Isn't cottage cheese just old nasty milk? Doesn't it taste like shit?
>> Anonymous

Most people say cottage cheese tastes like balls, yes. Try it, if you like it good. If you don't man the fuck up and down that shit.

The perfect snack if you're serious about losing weight.

I put some cottage cheese and fish inside a small pita loaf and cover it with some fish-sauce, then warm in microwave. Tastes like fish-sauce. I really like.

Shit yeah quinoa. You can do all sorts of shit with it. Tabouleh, grain salads, plain with lime juice on it, etc. One of my favorite easy suppers is just quinoa with creamed spinach on it.

Anyway, for a snack I'm a big fan of natto. Yes, it's the (supposedly) nasty fermented soybean stuff from Japan. Not the easiest thing to find, but if you happen to like it damn is it good and super-healthy too.

Anyone know where to find this Quinoa stuff? I looked in multiple stores with no success.

Go to your hippie store. Seriously. That's where they hide this shit, and it's decently cheap too.

Made a call to the only hippy store around, they didn't carry it.

I'm>>246188, still looking for other types of things like this. Looking for small meals as well, I suppose. Having a hard time getting five meals most days without eating the exact same thing constantly.

You should find bulgur at your local supermarket. I like that stuff. Look for it by the flour or rice. It's almost like the wheat version of brown rice.

A lot of local grocery stores have started carrying quinoa, especially if they have a bulk foods section with grains in bins.

For reference, it's usually pronounced "KEEN-WAH" so that may help your phone search. Also, picture relevant - the lighter one is quinoa. Use for reference.

Yeah, it's really tasty (as well as unbelievably healthy). There are about a million things you can do with quinoa.

Is quinoa good by itself or is it much better with other stuff?
>> Anonymous
>>247812
It's just a grain. It has sort of a nutty flavor/texture on its own, which is tasty on its own but probably too bland for most people by itself, so it is usually paired with other things one way or another.

Mix with spices and dried fruit after boiling.
