hi /fit/

So lurking this forum for a bit has motivated me to start running. I'm skinny and generally lazy as hell, my hobbies include sitting around and reading a lot.

So I bought all the kit yesterday (shoes, tights and what not) went home, put it on and set off. The problem is I'm so out of shape I can't continually jog for more than a few minutes. I'm not going too fast, I just can't keep running. Its a good thing I was on the beach yesterday because I almost passed out twice and I've been having headaches ever since.

I do 2-3 minutes of jogging followed by 8 minutes of fast walking. That's about my maximum, pathetic I know. But will I see any improvement? Will I be able to run longer in time, if I stick at it?

That's not bad at all. Since you don't have any weight, your joints won't be hurtin'. Just keep at it. EVERYONE has trouble the first few times if they've never done it. You will build endurance over time. I was the same. I couldn't go more than 2 blocks without my sides splitting at first and now I run 2 miles. Don't run so hard to the point you're about to pass out to begin with. How long have you been at this? Don't put yourself down yet. Yeah, it is pathetic but remember the feeling of this moment because you WILL change if you keep at it. It's proven fact man.

Thanks, I'll stick to my guns then. And yesterday was my first run, I wasn't expecting any greatness but I was quite taken aback by how shitty I was.
