so /fit/, hernia and pulling of the groin muscle

whats the diff between the two?

my dad came over to mah place tonight and i was complaining about it and he was like LOOK IDIOT IT COULD BE A HERNIA and im like look idiot it hurts all the way down my leg

also if I did indeed pull my groin muscle other than obviously not doing any cardio can I still squat?

No. Go see a doctor. If your legs go out during a squat, enjoy the hospital.

In that case I hope its a hernia. Point is get it checked out if you're concerned. Otherwise happy lifting!

OP here, is pulling of the groin mussle serious enough to warrant going to the doctor?

I've never pulled it before so I have no idea the length of it and how to treat it properly, and all I've really read from google was ice in the first 24-48 hours and heat / rest from there on out

To answer the first question difference between hernia and pulled groin, a hernia is where the intestine forces itself into the scrotal sack and requires immediate attention. While a pulled groin is just a slightly damaged muscle which should heal over the next few days. If you felt something slip and push inside of you, it is likely a hernia.

However because this does not seem to be the case it is most likely muscle/joint damage. However if you lose control while doing a squat (minus weight) you could have serious muscle or ligament damage that, while unlikely, could require therapy to fully heal. To be safe see a doctor or even a trainer.

It's not necessarily your sack, it can just force through muscle anywhere.

Protip: Don't hold your breathe while lifting.

noted, but when I got this I stood up too fast and immediately felt it and still am feeling some soreness in the groin area

You've pulled a muscle or ligament, it's not a hernia.
