Hey /fit/,
Who do you think would win in combat - an Olympic weightlifter with ungodly crude strength and raw explosive power, or an experienced fighter with seasoned technique and lasting endurance?
>> Anonymous
Depends. Fighter knows how to plant bombs from far away?

fighter

otherwise fighters would train like olympic lifters

You know, that crossed my mind too, but Olympic lifters sprint faster than Olympic sprinters and jump higher than Olympic high jumpers (well, for 25m and for vertical, at least). You never know. Plus, one punch from someone who can use their body to drive 300+ lbs. overhead... I don't know.

Fight outcomes are NEVER a certainty, you never know. A lucky punch, etc.etc.

I would give it to the fighter, but never underestimate dumbstrength.

Oly lifters can NOT sprint fast then olympic sprinters... Otherwise Olympic sprinters would be olympic lifters.

Sprinters do lift a fair bit... but not to the extent of an actual oly lifter... and they run much fast.

An olympic lifter with some good training could do well in a fight.

Truth. A fighter tends to have a certain instinct for, well, fighting. Then again, as a lifter, I've punched through doors when I've gotten pissed off.

For the first 40 meters olympic lifters are faster than sprinters. After that, a 100 m sprinter will usually win, as the o-lifter gasses out.

If someone isn't trained to fight then he is a joke for any real fighter.

Got any evidence, or are you just pulling this outta your ass?

You'd be surprised at how good sprinters are at Olympic lifts.

Fighter. By far.

I'd bet my money on Fedor vs any Oly lifter.

If you've ever seen someone trained in fighting vs someone who brawls you'll know how quick the inexperienced guy loses.

Fighters will be more vicious and aggressive too. The best fighters are the guys that seriously want to kill the other person.

Aggression is good, but you have to couple it with composure.

Man I think the wisdom of the sages is needed.

guys who would win in a weightlifting competition

ufc fighter or olympic lifter durrr

Fighters employ numerous techniques that Olympic lifters would not know about. Fighters are also (within reason) more agile.

I don't care how much you snatch or clean, one good punch to the jaw will knock anyone out.

Insert generic foaming at the mouth about bone density

olly lifter would take 1 good punch or kick to the face and be done i think, but the problem for the MMA fighter would be not being picked up and thrown out of the cage by the lifter lol

Lol you think a well rounded MMA fighter could be picked up by same fuck who doesn't know what he is doing? They would sprawl on their ass and have them tapping in no time.
>> Anonymous
Most guys are neither. Either would kick the ass of 90% of guys.

And MMA is bullshit, to some extent: just look at the shit they ban--that's the stuff a real fight is made of. They're there *not* to inflict lasting damage to each other. Most MMA fighters (ground fighters, especially) would lose to some punk who always gets in dirty bar and street fights.

ESPECIALLY ground fighters

I agree, sports MMA is watered down bullshit. Practical MMA would actually give you some semblance of a leg-up, tho.
