sup /fit/,

I'm pretty interested in taking up a martial art, so I've been looking around at what's available locally. I was almost settled on Brazilian JiuJitsu, but on reading up about it, it doesn't appear to have much in the way of striking. Aikido seems pretty interesting too...

Dunno. Anyone have an opinion on a martial art that has a good mix of grappling, and striking, that isn't Krav Maga, as there are no teachers round here.

Why the fuck would anyone IRL want to learn BJJ? It's not like you will ever get into a life threatening situation where a clean shoot bout will determine who lives or dies... even if you do, you can grab and bust a guy's nuts or poke his eyes out, dont need to know BJJ to kill someone

besides, BJJ is incredibly gay, with all the humping and sumbitting

Learn REAL martial arts, from CHINA, no gay shit there

Muay Thai will stab you in the eyes, rip your heart out of your chest, and fuck your ventricles.

Learn that.

Nice troll. At least I hope it is...

If all it is is poking people in the eyes and ripping their nuts off, why learn your Chinese garbage either? Just rest assured that you're an unassailable badass and rejoice in your superheroic stature. You don't need anything to be an unstoppable killing machine. You are already a god. Fucking tool.

You have obviously never poked somebody in the eye either. It's hard enough to just punch somebody in the face who doesn't want to be punched. Eyes are smaller than whole faces, and fingers are smaller than whole fists. Smaller = harder. Eyeballs are also fairly hard, resilient objects, not puddles of jelly in your sockets.

OP: For god's sake, do not do aikido. They don't fight. They don't really train. They just play dressup and pretend to be Stephen Seagal every night. Don't be that guy.

OP, Learn a combination of Muay Thai and JiuJitsu. That's what I'm planning to do, i've already been practicing Jiu jitsu with no real training. I need to learn much more about the fighting style, along with learn Muay Thai.

You learn the Muay Thai so you can beat someone on the stand up, but if the fight ends up on the ground, you're good to go because of the jiu jitsu.

Woohooo, fighting.

Yeah, Steven Seagal is pretty much the arch-faggot.

Muay Thai sounds pretty fucking brutal, but I once saw that video of the boxer breaking his shin in one bout. Still sends shivers up my spine...

What about jujitsu? Less all out striking, with a few locks and shit in there too?

I saw that video too. It scares me on the inside, a little, but I think I could handle it.

Study a handful, then find somewhere that teaches Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do (and not Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do that shit is just trying to cash in)

you'll learn how to fight with what's best out of everything.

sounds pretty interesting... I'll do some research, and see if there is anywhere that does that round my neck of the woods (Catalunya).

Cheers all - good responses.

I agreed up until the Chinese part.

But even BJJ has it's uses. Try and find a JKD concepts course around you. You learn a little grappling, a little kickboxing and a lot of boxing. So instead of taking a kung fu class and getting what little good there is mixed in with bullshit, you're getting the practical shit from a lot of different arts.

True, but it still really fucking hurts to get punched in the eye.
