Hello /fit/,

Just a small question. I've been working out now for nearlt three months. In the past month or so, I've stepped up my workout from 4 times a week to 6 on average and I started to see a major difference.

However I'm well aware there are some people who have a super high metabolism who tend not to gain weight very easily. I think my metabolism is average because it's not like I don't lose weight when I work out and eat healthily.

Now, I'm a firm believer that you have to change your eating habits and exercise habits and there is no quick fix for weight loss/toning, but I was wondering if there's any medication out there that speeds up metabolism?

I've read about people who are very overweight visiting their doctors and being prescribed metabolism increasing medication...but I don't need to lose an insane amount of weight so I doubt I'll qualify.

So I just wanted to know if there is a pill and if doctors will readily prescribe it, or if they avoid it unless you're really overweight.

Thanks in advance!

Unless the doctor is retarded he won't readily prescribe it.

Google for natural ways to speed up your metabolism and try that instead. Guaranteed to have less side-effects than whatever meds you would take.

Stick to what you're doing and have patience. If you don't enjoy your workouts, spend time between researching ways to make them more fun and modify them as you go. Even just changing your workouts around regularily (so it's not your 5th day of jog 2k around your neighbourhood) will keep things interesting.

I absolutely adore working out. In fact, I think if people were offered just half an hour in a gym, for free, the obesity rate in the UK and the US would drop a lot. Working out, for the most part, is extremely fun.

Maybe I have an odd view on it though, because I've heard some people who hate gyms.

Anywho, I'll have a look at Google. At the moment I only drink water and I eat healthily, so as I said before, it's not like I'm doing a bad job so far. But sometimes I wonder if the weight would drop off quicker if I had a super high metabolism.

Don't bother with medications. You can increase your metabolism naturally by changing your diet - eat 5-6 smaller meals a day. Rather than eating breakfast, then starving (read: slowing down your metabolism) yourself untill lunch and again untill dinner, if you keep eating reguarly, your body will keep a high metabolism

I concur with this thread in NOT recommending it, but I believe stackers do what you want. Never investigated, though, so I can't say for sure.
