Protein Anonymous
dearest /fit/

in July, I realized how much of a fatass I was. So I changed. I went from about 285 to 235, what I am now.

The problem is that my weight loss has been stagnant lately. I've been fluctuating daily between 231 and about 235, probably due to hydration issues. Now, my diet consists mostly of pasta. I'm a poor college student, so i can't afford much more then pasta, fruit, veg, and frozen chicken.

My question is, oh gods of /fit/, If i replace my carbs from pasta with equal amounts of lean protein, will it assist in fat loss? I'm much more interesting in cutting right now then building.

Love, OP

No, replace it with veggies. Don't cut all the pasta, but trade out pasta for veggies. Easy.

I get about 45min-1hr of biking in per day. Don't have access to a gym, so pushups/situps every other day.

Actually, I should clarify a little. Dropping some calories from carbs for fewer calories from protein would help some, but you don't need all that protein. Eating more veggies would be more helpful for you, since you get delicious vegetable nutrients and fill up fast while eating fewer calories.

I see. New question. Would increasing my protein intake while maintaining near same calorie intake assist with weight loss?

You're better off replacing your carbs with better carbs- whole wheat breads and pastas, or brown rice, instead of wonderbread and white pasta. Add more vegetables and fruit instead of more protein. Assuming you're getting your recommended daily amount of protein (45-50 grams), adding more won't be as helpful as adding more produce.

Don't be an idiot. Maintain the same calorie intake and you maintain the same weight.
