Sup /fit/,started losing fat a while ago because I was getting somewhat of a stomach.Still cutting (lost 22 pounds over 3 months, mostly fat) and I plan to do so for atleast 1 more month so I get to see some abs..I wanna start building some muscle soon but my gym has only machines in it.The trainer at my gym said going with free weights is a no go at the moment because I could get injured. He gave me a routine with machines I should follow for a few months.Should I follow his advice or find a diff gym?Pic related, its me.
Did the trainer say no go on free weights because you're rehabbing an injury or something? Free weights are perfectly safe as long as you know what you're doing.
Nope, I went to him to ask advice on form etc and he just blew me off saying I should do machines first..Are machines really that bad for gaining weight?
if there anything that restrict you from doing free weights ? If so, listen to the trainer. If not tell him to shut the fuck up and do this:http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-beginner-strength-training-program/
>>277040Well machines do half the work for you ( if not more.)Also Machines tends to lead you toward a poor form. You work way harder by using free wieghts since you have to stabilize the weights.
Free weights are perfectly fine for beginners if you have common sense. It's near impossible to hurt yourself with dumbbells. The trainer is probably used to people who wants to benchpress heavy from day 1, and end up dropping the bar.
