hay /fit/

For those of you who eat oatmeal (I recently replaced my breakfast with it, it might've saved my life), do you put anything on it?

I really wanted to try ketchup, but I realize that's not particularly healthy

I'm thinking I'll experiment with tabasco (zero fat, zero calories, zero sugar) or something similar tomorrow

how bout you?
>> Anonymous
i eat it with a scoop of protein powder and some soymilk (silk ftw)

Um, would eating it with ketchup really be THAT unhealthy?
>> Anonymous

banana slices, raisins ,honey, almonds sometimes egg whites (microwaved)

>> Anonymous
I eat it with two scoops of raisins
>> Anonymous
I add frozen blueberrys into mine

OP here; I bought some tabasco, and I woulda' liked to have gotten some tapatio for experimentation as well, but they didn't have any

this post has planted the seed of doubt

would it be all-that-bad to put ketchup on it? I mean health-wise, because I'm sure it'd be delicious
>> Anonymous
oats>oatmeal right? how the hell do you prepare it then?
>> Anonymous
usually 2-3 scoops (25g per scoop) of vanilla whey protein per 2 packets of low fat brown suggar oatmeal.

no milk, just water (and only a tiny bit, I like my shit mildly wet, not soupy).

anyway shit's good. the protein powder really adds a ton of flavor to it, and it really starts my day right.

ketchup, motherfucker

do you eat it

by which I mean: would it nullify the healthy healthiness of oatmeal? It does have corn syrup...

One thing, oatmeal and ketchup do not compute; another thing, just put brown sugar or milk instead.

Just, NO.

maple syrup, brown sugar, or cinnamon

I put brown sugar in mine. I know it's unhealthy, but I did the math and did the taste testing, and I can get away with one tablespoon of sugar and it's still less than the amount I'd get in a comparable serving of sugary cereal.

Buy this. It's the best shit ever.

Instant oats are like . . .

eating fruit flavored candy instead of eating the fruit.

a tiny bit of vanilla extract
or almond if i feel particularly CRAY-ZEE

No thanks on the brown sugar or milk (I have 1 cup oatmeal + 1.75 cups water)

However, now I'm super eager to know

ASIDE FROM TASTE, it ketchup really unhealthy to put in oatmeal?
>> Anonymous
just checking, do yous guys make your oatmeal with milk, or water? Me, I put 1 cup of oatmeal and 2 cups of milk into a pot, on high, and stir it until it bubbles. Then I put it in a bowl. Sometimes if im feeling the need i mix in a couple of teaspoons of brown sugar.

depends on lots of things. Does it have high fructose corn syrup in it? How much sugar does it have in it?

Unless you're boiling tomatoes and vinegar on your own, ketchup is going to have a high sugar content.

Boil frozen blueberries in the water before you add the oatmeal. Beats the plain stuff any day.

Do you microwave your oatmeal or boil water? Please say microwave. And if so, how long and how much?

I can't stand oatmeal. Tasteless mush. Oat bran has a much heartier flavor and texture. Mix it with any berry (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries) and it's divine.
>> Anonymous
I eat watermelon and grits for breakfast.
>> Anonymous
I eat my oatmeal with butter. Always.

OP here

I guess I'm not as much of a manly cowboy man as I thought; tabasco at that hour of the morning is a no-go

The oatmeal soaks up all the flavor, and all you're left with is hotness

Still keeping clear of ketchup (sadly), but thanks for all the suggestions regardless

1) Ketchup is the fucking worst condiment ever invented.

2) Tabasco is the worst hot sauce ever invented. It's like dirty vinegar with almost no fucking spice.

3) Even if they were both awesome, neither would have a place on oatmeal. I have no idea what your idea of good food is, but that you even posed your question makes me think you're in a culinary world that would make me insane if I ventured further.

4) I like to use 1 tsp of blackstrap molasses (a little goes a long way), flax seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, banana, blueberries, and mango. Not all of those at once, of course, but I use all of them with good regularity.

5) Oatmeal is also good when it is made with almond milk.

6) If you're dead set on a hotsauce breakfast, put sriracha on a banana. Sriracha is easily available in the US, and the most popular brand (Huey Fong, I think) has a rooster on the bottle.

I eat it with some wheat germ and brown sugar.

On rare occasion, Sriracha.
