BTW, the guy in OP is as far as I know this canadian dude.
His form is awful and he's full of balony.
Avoid at all cost.
It's rare to see good kyudo outside of Japan.
Too many bad teachers that don't know themselves what they are doing.

I recommend reading two books on the topic:
By Onuma: Kyudo, Essence and practice of japanese archery and
by Feliks Hoff: Kyudo.

The dojo is in Vancouver, and the teachers from their profiles seem competent having actually placed in competitions.

Here some examples of good Kyudo:
No ritualistic mumbo, just efficient shooting.

The guys at kyudo.com actually learned firsthand from Onuma, which i regard as a Genius.
So I recommend this site.

I don't want to discourage you, go and try for yourself, Kyudo is learning by doing mainly.
However keep in mind that kyudo in canada is very young, the guy is what? 2nd dan or so (able to hold a bow without dropping it yay), so don't expect too much.

OP here

I'm not expecting too much, I wanted to do archery, but there was nothing in my area and I happened to come across this which seemed like a good substitute.

It really depends on the teacher and people in the dojo.
Some dojos are really all about shooting, others will spend eons discussing meditation.

Interesting, this is something I've wanted to get into for awhile now. I hope to find a dojo in Seattle (I doubt I'll have problems with that...).

OP, go for it definitely. Consider yourself lucky that you have a kyudo dojo near you; they're incredibly rare in Canada.
