Hey /fit, I've finally decided I'm going to lose weight. I'm 5'11 and 184 pounds.

On any given day, I will wake up and usually have nothing for breakfast, except for special occasions where I eat cereal. I then go through school and eat about 1 powerbar at 12:30. I have two burritos, pogos, pizza pops, or mini pizza's at 2:30, and have a small snack. For dinner (~5:50), I always have one meat, a starch, and some veggies, and finish the day with some ice cream or something.

What do I need to do to lose weight? I barely exercise, and feel uncomfortable running around the neighborhood.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cut out everything that has excess fat, carbs, and suger. But do it gradually, oh and excersise of course. Cardio, do alot of it

Anymore details than that? Like what sort of stuff should I do for exercise?

The fastest (but not the safest) way to lose weight, of course, is to lie in your bed with a huge jug of water and nothing else for about 4-5 days. Aside from going to the toilet and bathing yourself (remember to use lukewarm water, hot water will make you faint), you should never move about too much, because it will actually make you collapse. As you lie in bed, you will sleep more often, and that will curb your appetite.

tl;dr
eat 5-6 times a day, slightly more for 'breakfast' and less for your last meal. Lean protein, complex carbs, fruit/vegetables. Mix cardio and lifting.

So fasting is self-destructive? A method of proving one's devotion and self-discipline that has been around for thousands of years is just something "emo teens use to get their tight pants on"?

Yeah, okay.

Why exactly is it any less destructive for being a habit closely related to religious practices? If anything, it makes it even more destructive.

Losing weight is strictly calories in and calories out. You need to find out how many calories your burns in a day and eat about 500 fewer than that.

Losing much more than 2 pound per week is unhealthy however and you should never go below 1200 calories per day.

I'm the same height as you and weighed about the same six months ago when I started trying to lose weight, and I'm at 160 now. Good luck!

It's very nature is self deprivation. Not giving your body what it needs and persevering through the unpleasantness that entails. Nobody in history has ever said it is a physically healthy way to go about doing things. They do it to hone willpower. However, it does allow you to lose weight effectively, even when done in moderation. The key is to stick with it and return to a normal diet carefully when you've reached your weight goal. In the end is it probably harder than the tightrope walk that the book linked here is.

That said, if you are going to use burn the fat feed the muscle, you MUST do the cardio and lifting routines. If you don't do them, you will gain weight.
