Whats up /fit/guys? Ive been trying to gain weight for almost 10 years now and Ive ended up weighing less now than I did 10 years ago. I'm 6'4 129 lbs right now, I started (in 8th grade) at 5'7 132 lbs. Ive been given many thorough medical exams to rule out any health problems, so thats not an issue. It probably doesn't help that I would prefer to eat only about 800 calories a day. You know, the average American eats upwards of 4000 calories a day?!? How the fuck to manage to work up a desire to eat that much? Let alone prepare and or pay for all of it. I'm the only one in my family who is this skinny. I'm 23 now and I won't except staying this fucking thin for another 10 years, not in the prime of my life. I have to do something now. Any suggestions would help.

You know, I dont know why everyone recommends squats so often here to gain weight. I looked for tips here a while ago and thats what they told me. Ive been doing squats for months now, not helping though.

Shut The Fuck Up.

Get the fuck out of here. You know your problem and you refuse to change it. Weight training with compounds lifts and running/sprinting often will make you want to eat and die for water. Eat more food, eat meat, drink water.

Compound Lifts: Deadlift, Snatches (power snatches), Squats, Overhead Lifts (jerks and presses), and the Benchpress. Use weighted pullups and dips to supplement the mix along with rows if you're into rows. Pullups are a must, deadlifts will work every fucking muscle you have but supplementing it with an overhead or bench press would be advisable.

There are a few ways to grow. Volume and Intensity are variables that affect it the most. You can do a dense routine of squats meaning a lot of reps with little weight and you will still look like a pussy. You can do all out intensity in one workout and not walk for a week or you can focus on intensity with volume by not going to failure and training 3-5 reps with more sets with a weight that forces you to push but not to the point of failure in ANY of your sets. The least you can do is lift weights, you'll start building muscle which is a good foundation.

Also go on a "reverse diet", since you eat about 800 calories a day, start adding about 100 calories to your diet daily for every week until you can bare to eat 3000 calories?

your problem is definitely the eating thing...

I'm 6'3" and 240... I honestly cannot conceive weighing less than 200.

A few years ago, I was 5'11 and 125lbs. I started working out (just with some small 15lbs free weights), drinking a protein shake (w/an added carnation instant breakfast for extra calories) every morning and right before bed. I jumped up 20lbs in roughly 6 months. I'm now pushing towards 175 and I'm currently at 168ish.

The secret is working out consistantly, eating a lot(but eat smart), and drink lots of water. That last point is especially important. Drinking water will help stretch out your stomach so you can eat more.

You have to eat a lot mother fucker. Genetics is against you on this.

I have the same problem, not as bad though - 180cm and 64 kilos. I've always been this thin, and I eat 2000-3000 calories a day and am pretty lazy (2-3 hikes a month is about the extent of my physical activities, although I'm trying to change that).

If I'm this thin with WAY more food than you and not too much exercise, I think you're fucked if you go for 800 calories.

Your best best is to not eat a lot more. But just a fraction.
You want to start doing lots of muscle building to become broader, builker and leaner and less of a lanky looking guy.
And to do this, your muscles need to be fed to grow. Soo. what you can do is keep your breakfast and lunch the same. But when you have dinner, eat like a horse. Maybe have a second helping till you feel full or a bit over.

If you keep eating like a peasant and try working out, you will just lose more weight and no muscle, like you have been doing.

No one likes the look of a peasant guy, only peasant girls look moderately decent.
