Now, now, no need to be like that.
I'm pretty bad at dynamic stretching... or was for the most part. What I did was stand in front of the foot of my bed and lift one leg and rest my heel on the bed. try to straighten your knee.
Once you can do that, I found two ways to increase my flexibility although I'm sure there are more. One way, is to just try reaching your toes of the foot on the bed and getting your chin to your knee.
The other is to slowly bend the knee on your supportive leg. This will put more strain on your supportive leg giving you more stability and strength (albeit only by a little) while keeping your other heel consistently on the bed with your leg straight.
Worked for me and now I can dynamic kick about head height.
