Tinnitis Anonymous
Went to a concert in June... ears still ringing. It's really irritating. My doctor saw my sinuses were infected and gave me a spray and said that it might help the ringing.

Anyone else suffer ringing in the ears from concerts or otherwise? Has it faded over time or disappeared?

Did the doc say there is a chance of permanent damage?

I remember when my ears started ringing when I was like 5 years old. I tried getting my mom to put her ear next to mine to hear if she could hear the ringing in my ears... :) Seems I got a case of Tinittus. 30 years later, still got it - but it's only noticable when there is no noise or pretty quiet noise.

The doctor actually didn't say anything about permanent damage.

Yeah, mine is pretty quite (still very irritating...) so I guess I'm lucky that I can't hear it most of the time during the day.

2 years and counting here, I think it is permanent, went to doctor twice both told me it'll will go in 3/4 months, and it still here, learn to live with it.

I go to loud concerts all the time and have never experienced tinnitus.

Would you still have ringing in your ears if you stabbed out your ear drums or went deaf? Is it an affliction IN the ear or a brain nerve?

15 years and counting here. It is permanent.

The nerves are damaged. Even if a surgeon cut out the parts of your ear that do the hearing, you'd still have phantom ringing in your phantom ears.

There is nothing you can do about it but habituate to it. I find music at a low volume to be helpful. Don't crank it up too loud, though, because when you turn it off, the residual ringing is that much worse.

fuck, i think i've been developing it. i can only hear the ringing on my left ear, usually only when there's almost no sound around me. shit still sux tho.

Relax, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be, due to being used to it. It appears to have made my hearing better to some frequencies - which seems counter-intuitive. I agree with other anon that very light music seems to help.

faggot, he's not asking us as doctors, he's asking other symptom sufferers.

it's permanent. did you really think that 120dB for two hours was good for your ears? you shouldn't have been such an imprudent little cunt; 2 hours of no doubt very shit music in exchange for a lifetime of maddening ringing

Well it may vary from person to person I suppose. I go to gigs every couple weeks or so and my ears only ring after the show, maybe the next days a little bit. Kreator next, it's gonna be fucking awesome.
