Wii fit isn't cutting it right now. I want to either start jogging or bike riding on top of it. Which would be more effective though? I really like riding, and would be probably willing to do it more often, so should I just stick with that?

you actually fell for wiifit? you actually thought it would work?...

fucking FAIL.

Yeah, the funny thing is, since June 10th, I've lost 15lbs.

they're both pretty nice, but i suggest jogging, that way you won't be tempted to sit on the bike's chair and relax.

I would say stick with riding, since you're more likely to keep up with it and keep increasing the intensity or duration of your rides. Mix it up with jogging or running if you start to find that boring, just keep doing something.

And ignore the people who think Wiifit is equal to sitting on your ass. They think squatz and HIIT are the only effective exercises that cure every problem (despite the fact that the majority of posters are likely still out of shape and would sweat just taking the Wiifit out of its box...). If it's working for you and you are ENJOYING IT (which means you'll stick with it, can't stress that enough!) go right ahead. You can lose 50 more pounds with it and these idiots will be crying "water weight."

Thanks, then I'll probably start the biking in the morning tomorrow before work. If I get bored I could always ride my bike to the track and run some laps.

Wii fit is surprisingly helpful for a lot of people. But all these /fit/ faggots sit on their towers and rant about how the only way to get in shape is through HIIT, or crossfit, or SQUATZ or something else stupid. Do whatever works for you, either one of those methods will do just fine.

biking is better for the joints. Whichever makes you feel better, do it.

How many miles would you say would be a good amount to do?

I'm sure wiifit works for some people, the people who had virtually 100% sedentary lives. The simple fact of the matter is this, you get out what you put in, if you spend your time eating properly, resistance training(less then 40 minutes a day 3-4 times weekly), some cycling/swimming/rowing/running/HIIT, some flexibility work before and after and you're going to see 20x the results from wiifit because even though the time spent isn't that different you have put in vastly more effort across your entire bodies needs.

I had a 9 mile bike ride from my house to work and I did it 4/5 days a week last summer. My home also overlooked a valley, so I had a ridiculous hill (maybe 800 feet of elevation in half a mile?) at the very end of my return trip every day. I lost probably 30 pounds that summer and never felt like I could eat enough.

Unfortunately, I sold my place and now I live way outside of biking distance and I've gotten fat again.

D:

Go for 20 miles a day, however you want to do it. You're looking at an hour and a half of riding, tops. As you get more fit, it goes faster.

How far are you from work?

About 3-4 miles each way.
