i started lurking here about 2 months ago, and 1 month ago i started taking serious action to my weight/image problem. i was 6'4, 285, 19 years old. ive been trying basicaly a calorie reduction "diet". my MBR is 2600 calories per day, so im trying to go around 500 calories, 3 meals a day. i also have been working out 3-4 times a week with cardio and weight lifting. ive been going pretty strong the first month, with a few lazy days and whatnot, and ended up knocking off 20 pounds. the problem is my motivation. at first i saw the weight peeling off, a pound every couple days. i kept it up, but I have stayed the same weight all week. i started losing my inner strength, and have lost motivation to wake up early, tired (from work all day), and go to the gym. ive lost motivation to convince my fat fuck parents to buy me more healthy foods (they have been very resistant, and i have no money of my own). i work at my local mall and the only time we get breaks is if we are eating (so food court food is solution). basically, this is my first bump in the road, and first plateu (except the initial bump of starting). how does /fit/ continue tis motivation, are there any solutions or changes i should do? what works for /fit/ on getting to bed decently early and waking up early to workout? like i said before, im pretty motivated to improve myself in every part of my life (things other than fitness). all ideas and opinions are appreciated!

tl;dr i hit my first bump in the road, solutions?

Don't weigh yourself several times in one week. Once a week at most.

why is that? i feel like i need more daily motivation. why would once a week be better?

Supposedly weighitng once a week is more statistically useful and best for people who tend to be neurotic about their weight, but daily weighing may help people keep focused better and be aware of their screwups faster.
Just keep in mind that it's going to vary through the day for no particular reason; that's just how it works.

As for motivation - I find it helps to always think in terms of bodyfat %. That gives you a more firm, usefully quantified goal to shoot for.

Why do your parent want you dead?

Only weight yourself once every two weeks. Also get a nice measuring tape so you can see that your waist really is melting away (literally).

But yeah, give your parents hell for not supporting your decision to get stronger.

How's this for motivation?
