My tongue is cut near the back of my mouth, and lately it's been swelling and obstructing my breathing and eating. It feels like I am constantly choking on something, even when I'm not, and I haven't slept since it happened a couple of days ago.

Is it normal for my tongue to be even like this? See image for what I mean. There's a cut going downwards on a slant, and the flap is swollen.

If it's not normal to have a tongue like this, I'm going to get it surgically removed (the flap at the back), but if it's normal I'll just wait it out.

Has your tongue always been like that? Or did you actually cut it?

I only notice it when I'm really sick. I've known my tongue has been like this for a long time (no idea why it's like this), but I can only feel it when I have a sore throat or a cold. But I know for sure it's part of my tongue, because if I put my finger between the flap and my tongue, it's connected.

imo, go see a doctor.

Could be. I know if I swallow really hard and try to feel it with my finger, it's missing (but it slowly creeps back up).
