It's simple supply and demand. There are less thin people now, so there is less demand for thin clothes, so there is less reason to make them and less profit overall to be derived from it.
Frankly, I'm not happy being overweight, but I'm glad I can finally go to a normal store and buy decent clothes. I think it would be great if stores would just carry a wide range of sizes, and no one would have trouble finding good clothes. This so called "War Against the Fit" that you say fat people are waging isn't justified, but it's certainly understandable, given the raw deal fat people have always had in being accepted, finding clothes, and being treated well. Everybody deserves to be treated decently no matter what their body looks like and this has only recently happened with fat people. Some people are just doomed to be fat by their genes or their general apathy and they still deserve good clothes. But then again, so do you.
