two quick questions /fit/...

The 1st, I weigh about 290 pounds, and I really want/need to lose some weight. So what is a good workout to do daily? I have been doing 60 crunchs (20 on the left, right, and middle), lifting a 15 pound weight 30 times on each arm, and other various cardio workouts (walking around where I live, climbing up and down steps, running in place, jumping jacks. Is this too little? What would you reccomend. I don't really have a gym near me.

2, this is kind of a stupid question, but a friend of my aunt's used to go to Weight Watchers and they told her that if you don't eat hardly anything your body will think you're starving, and will cling onto your fat cells. tl;dr not eating is counter productive to a diet.

Is this true?

run

you know what's true? women don't know shit about fitness.

eat less, eat clean, then run. That is all you need to do.

60 crunches and 15lb weights make me RAGE!!!!!

treadmill on 3.5speed 8incline until you feel like your not going to have a heart attack anymore(2-4weeks)

then- 4speed 10-14 incline and 4-5days a week and watch that fatass of yours get in shape....

if not jog lightly until your not going to die anymore and then start running...

starving yourself is counter productive becasue the second you get back into eating reguarly your body is goign to over compensate and youll gain and keep even more weight than before.

you want to more meals but smaller and healthier portions... cardio and working out will naturally make you want to eat less as you will feel bloated and shitty with a big meal

im serious about the treadmill thing.. it was suggested to me by a friend who had a similar body to mine when i started 4yrs ago but it works awesome you feel your body in 2weeks literally feel like it got tighter and trimmer if i recall correctly...

tldr- you will see lots of progress becasue inclined treadmill at 4 speed is the same impact as running

Three meals a day.
No sugar, no pop, no fatty snacks.
Lots of vegetables and fruit.
If you want meat, eat a lot of chicken and fish. (not deep fried)

1. The crunches are doing nothing for you. Same for the 30 reps with the 15 lb. weight. The walking, the climbing, the running, the jumping jacks: all good in principle. But the yardstick to measure your cardio by is how hard you're panting and sweating when you're done. If you think you could pant and sweat harder without dying, kick it up a notch. And pick an exercise that you can take to full intensity, such as the inclined treadmill walking, biking (stationary or mobile), and running, once you're in better shape. One can only jump jacks or run in place so hard.

2. Absolutely true. You can figure out how many calories you're using and eat 400 or 500 less than that, but don't go below 1800 (since you're male). And eat healthy, it's better for you and makes it about a million times harder to overeat.

Wait so jogging on an incline is bette then running for 30 minutes? and by running i mean going at a speed of 7-8 mph.

4speed is a fast paced walk not a jog- a jog is like 5-7speed running above that

TO ANSWER OP'S SECOND QUESTION: YES!!!
When your body receives very little to no food over a period of time it goes into 'starvation survival mode' which is basically your metabolism going way way down and your body trying very hard to hang onto as much energy as it can.
In WW2 the American soldiers held in Japanese POW camps were bone-fucking thin. They couldn't get them to put on any weight until they started skipping meals (like a day or so at a time).
