a hybrid or touring bike will be the best.. but you may want to ask the people at the shop to switch the tires out for larger diameter ones. heavier load = you need more tire pressure, and on smaller tires that can get very uncomfortable.
Also, be prepared to get your wheels repaired every few months. It only costs $15-20, but unless you get a bike with nice handbuilt wheels, a spoke will break every now and then. It's not really big deal, though.
