Ok, /fit/, it's sorta difficult for me to talk about this. Never asked helped or advice before, but I'm seriously tired after so many years. I am really looking for advice.

My concern is acne. Ever since I was 15 (or probably 13, but I don't remember) I've had acne. Unfortunately I got very oily skin (thank you, parents) so my idea of having perfect skin is long gone. However, as of late (note, this past three-four months) for some reason that I don't understand (but really want to) my acne has focused on my chin and nearby parts. I understand some acne is normal, but sometimes it gets so bad it's even noteworthy by other people.

I don't use any acne products. I don't drink much soda. I try to avoid overly greasy food like McDonalds, pizza, etc. I *try* not to touch my face (and acne), but most of the times I can't help it with all the acne spread about, I need to do some "fixing". I cut my hair very short. I shave weekly. I wash my face with soap at least once a day (not counting, of course, when I bathe).

What else can I do?

soap dries out your skin, get a real facial cleanser

This, also, maybe it is time to start using acne products.

OP here. Thank you all very much. I read through the archived topic, and I got some basics tips. Basically, avoid touching as much as possible, drink water aplenty, use a shampoo that works with your hair, and apply chemical/natural products when needed.

Same boat, my friend. Girl here. It sucks ass, I know.

If you're into literature, rest assured that Bukowski had acne all over his face and body so bad, the lightest pressure would cause his lesions to bust open and stain his shirts with blood.

Mine sounds like it's about as bad as yours. From far away, people probably don't notice. But I've got it all over my jaw line and chin. Outside of the hideousness, that shit fucking hurts sometimes.

Are you also a very anxious person? I am, and I perspire under my arms excessively too. (Basically I'm an unattractive person overall.) I've noticed that in times of high stress, my acne increases. I've been trying to lessen the social anxiety I feel because of my acne that makes my acne worse. (Also a lot of existential stress too.)

Anyway, seems like its calming down lately.

OP here. I don't suffer as much social anxiety as I suffer stress from working. Unfortunately my job involves almost daily deadlines and I'm always dancing on the tip of a blade. I thought this might be one of the factors, however, I don't think it's a decisive one.

I've been told I'm attractive by some people (both sexes), which sometimes makes me wonder if I'm not perhaps thinking my acne is more than it really is. It still pisses me off, and, as you mentioned, fucking hurts some times.

quit being a stupid bitch op and go to a fucking dermatologist. If you got insurance, shit is free, and the stuff they give you works wonders for 90% of people. Ive had TERRIBLE acne all over my chest/face/back that would bleed and scab over it was horrible. Pretty much all gone now, but dealing with that shit for 6 years with no drugs is the worst fucking thing in the world that you can do. I still look good, but Id look a whole lot better without all the scars.

man the fuck up and do something. IT WONT GO AWAY FOR A LONG FUCKING TIME. And when it does, you'll be extremely fucked up emotionally and physically even afterwards. You will get scars, everyone does.

Accutane- Nothing beats it. You seem to be a responsible kid. Yeah, you have to get blood drawn every month, and your lips get chapped as fuck, but it's sooo worth it. Just apply chapstick liberally and you should be good.

I had moderate acne throughout the end of highschool. I felt like shit. Tried over 9000 different medicines from the dermatologist, none really worked. Would make my skin red and burn and get tight (I have sensitive skin). After accutane for 9 months I was clear. Now I still get a pimple or two every once and a while but I load a shit-ton of benzoyl peroxide on the fucker and it's gone within a few days.

OP, I'm no dermatologist so I can't be of much help. But be brave and do ask one. It's your best shot if you are truly tired of your acne.

Also, protip:
"Greasy" skin is better in the long run. Dry skin gets wrinkles far earlier. Grease is treatable everyday just by washing your face. Dry skin needs creams, etc, etc.

Do NOT hate what you have. Learn to watch the advantages of it, and work on how to improve it's weakpoints or disadvantages.

I would prefer not be medicine-dependent if I can help it. Maybe I'll get extremely tired one day and "man the fuck up" by going to a dermatologist, but I'd prefer if I didn't have to be so high... maintenance. So the less extra shit I have to take to function "normally" the better. Although you do make a valid point, and I should really consider going to a dermatologist.

its not high maintainance really(you'll spend an extra 20 minutes a day applying shit). Do you know how many people spend hours preparing themselves in the bathroom everyday for shit like this? everyone, you wouldnt be an outcast.

The trick is regulating your hormones. Get on a regular sleep schedule (ie go to bed everyday at the same time and wake up at the same time) and sleep in complete darkness. The melatonin from regular sleep and lack of stress from fluctuating sleep patterns will do wonders for your circadian rhythm.

Eat a spinach salad with loads of other veggies everyday. Accutane is based on Vitamin A, and spinach has a metric fuckton of Vitamin A in it.

Cut down on carbs from bread and pasta, your main source of carbs now is vegetables and fruit. The complex carbs won't spike your insulin, which is believed to be a culprit ini the cause acne. Make sure to get your protein, doesn't matter if it's fatty cuts of meat

Exercise regularly.

Once I started doing these things, my terrible acne from high school disappeared completely when I went to college. It sounds complicated, but it's not. It's just scheduling your sleep to be the same everynight, exercising, eating a spinach salad everyday, and not overeating on rice, bread, and noodles.
