sup /fit/I'm just getting back to the gym after a summer off because of lower back issues that haven't fully resolved themselves. Basically, as a result of this, I can't squat any reasonable amount of weight without a huge amount of pain. I can probably deadlift, I haven't tried yet. I'd like to continue on the 5x5 I was doing before summer, replacing rows with hang cleans and trying to keep up the deadlifting. My question is, how do I replace the squatz? When I went yesterday I maxed out on the leg press, but of course I realize that that's not even close. What can I do?tl;dr: Can't squat, how do I get Platzian legs anyway?
Nothing can replace the squat. Nothing. I would suggest sprinting. But that won't give you Platz legs. Nothing. Not even curing cancer.
lower back problems and you think you can deadlift, but not squat.hooookay man, whatever. Just do as many big compound movements as you can. Select from Powercleans, pullups, dips, press, bench, rows, fucking your mom, etc
>>323571I know how it sounds, but here's the thing. It only hurts when I put weight on my lower back at an angle, eg squatting. If the weight's below my back, it doesn't hurt at all unless I try to actually get it moving with my back. Deadlifting hurts a little, but I think it's manageable.I was thinking power cleans, but I already do hang cleans instead of barbell rows. So then I thought "so why not just not do the clean part?" And then...I realized I was describing a deadlift.
>>323571Sounds about right.Squats require more core stability. DLs can rehabilitate your back as long as you keep your form perfect.
>>323641Power cleans will screw with your back.
Pistol squats with dumbbells.
>>323641Well I think you have the idea, man. It ain't my back, I don't know how it feels. Take it slow.
