Chicken Pasta dinner before or after busting your ass at the gym for about 700 calories (1hour)?

Or would it be best pasta before - chicken after. Is that right? You want carbs (pasta) before and chicken (protein) after?

recent posts in /fit/ indicate im not eating near enough for the amount of activity my body sees at the gym -trying to even things out.

Please help me, /fit/

Throw out the pasta, eat the chicken after.

I have a HUGE calorie deficit -more so than I thought i was doing -are carbs really no good?

I eat a day around 600 calories ... i burn 700. Worried I should throw in an extra meal somewhere

Try both ways and see which works better for you.

If you only eat 600 calories a day you should throw in A meal.

Eating first makes the workout practically effortless. I imagine carbs first helps but is the chicken being wasted? Should i eat that after to improve muscle building and repair? Is splitting them up even helpful at all?

I know nothin

Before and after.

Have like 40 pounds to lose
Is a huge deficit (if im very active in the gym every single day) bad and or dangerous?

I feel great - the things people tell me in /fit/ about it -it really feels like I should be in constant pain when I move or collapse after 5 minutes of walking

yes.. you should never have a deficit higher than your basal metabolic rate (yours is 100 calories higher)

basically, you're WORSE OFF THAN STARVING. you're better off not eating. (literally starving yourself would give you a deficit equal to your BMR; yours is 100 calories HIGHER)

>>170988
of course I mean starving yourself and not working out

You know, you burn calories by being alive.

So i need to take in 800 calories a day?
And assuming I burn 700 calories for an hour at the gym every single day ...then I NEED to take in 1500 calories a day to be at the perfect weight loss deficit?

Just worried im gonna work my ass off at the gym, leave, and eat it right back before sundown. You know? Feels self defeating

Breakfast
My new plan is is Slim Fast Shake for breakfast (180 calories -i plan to replace this with a bowl of Cheerios but time is a problem)

Lunch
a retarded non-grease-non-sugar lunch entree favoring chicken and/or pasta (this could be 500-1100 calories all by itself)

Dinner
Another shake at the end of the day (180 calories) before the gym so I dont feel like Im trying so hard with an empty stomach -which seems to ache when I try.

Water and perhaps nuts (Walnut and Almond -no salt) interspersed inbetween lunch and dinner

Is this retarded?

You need to eat more before you do some serious damage to yourself. When you eat less your body adjusts to it because it thinks you are starving/dying. Your metabolism slows down a lot and starts to eat mostly muscle instead of fat. NEVER eat less than your basic metabolic rate.
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

What you need to do is eat more often to keep your metabolism high burning calories. Eat about 5 small meals a day totaling about 300-500 calories less than the amount of calories you burn in that day(that's BMR+how much you burn throughout the day) and you'll start to burn fat the safe and effective way.

You have a BMR of 1996.85. HOLY SHIT -my bmr is the regular allowance? God damnit!

Ive tried the metabolism thing but it never seems to pay off - it actually feels better eating half of what id normally want and just having a cup of black coffee in the morning.

I know the wonders of metabolism and that its the fastest way to lose weight and be healthy but to me honest -it never seems to pay off for me.

I always though diet and exercise was the harder but honest way to do it. So i hope to cut my calories in half (from the FDA) to 1000 and work out (cadio) 1-2 hours a day.

It feels great. Damnit, how could I be killing myself. Its not that I doubt you, /fit/, im just wondering if maybe there is something im forgetting to tell you that will forgive my screwed up plan.

tl;dr BMR = 2000. And I work off lets say 700 calories a day. So i am required to eat 2700 calories a day (healthy good and spaced out into multiple meals) OR i lose muscle mass, put on weight anyways, and have problems like fatigue and pain?

No, 2200.
See
>about 300-500 calories less than the amount of calories you burn in that day

Just kills me that Im eating so much less, being so active, and feels great.

2200 -I can do it. Not like its HARD To eat more -hehe. Quick question. Eat before working out? After working out? Which is better? (stay away from sugars and grease, right?)

Dont mean to concoct plan after plan but its not like im dreaming of doing this -ive Been doing this and am just worried im fucking up big time

Everyone need carbs 55-50% of your diet should be carbs (fibrous and starchy, try to avoid eating too many simple carbs, if you must eat them earlier in the day)... if you're an endomorph trying to lose weight, lower carbs to 45-50%.

So pasta good?

Please, an example of simple carbs vs "good" carbs?
>> MaddoxMan !!pvgYyl5+noK
>>170936
Everyone needs carbs. A diet with NO cabrs or NO fat is BAD. 55-50% of your diet should be carbs (fibrous and starchy carbs, try to avoid eating too many simple carbs, if you must eat them, do so earlier in the day)... if you're an endomorph trying to lose weight, lower carbs to 45-50%).

Carbs early in the day like breakfast is better than carbs Right before working out?

I dunno what kind of time window i should be looking at

you will be losing mostly muscle

and when you go back to a normal diet you will gain fat like crazy.

If your BMR is 2000 then you eat a little over 2000 a day. You actually burn more than 2700 because you also burn calories from every little thing you do, not just your BMR and the main workout.

The best thing to do to lose weight is to zig zag your calories across 3 or 4 days. So your average calorie intake is 2200.
Day one you eat 1700 calories.
Then the next day you eat 2700. T
hen the next day you eat 2200.
What this does is it puts your body in a calorie deficit while avoiding making body to think it's starving. You should mix these days up every now and then to keep from forming a pattern your body will get used to. You can also change the calories up a little too, just remember that it's one day low, one day high and one day a little above or below normal. This is a very effective way to lose weight.

I read in another /fit/ thread that a steady diet of calorie deficit can be balanced out with 1 pig out day a week ---would that work too?

>> you also burn calories from every little thing you do

I know what you mean but to be totally honest, im a computer tech for work (sit at a computer all day) and Im married to a geek (sit at a computer all night)

Im kinda worried that this is WHY im fat to begin with

See the database. Don't worry about the numbers for fruit.

If you do cardio, I suggest you do it as soon as you wake up if you can. Fasted cardio allows you to burn fat directly from storage rather than burn off your glycogen stores first (they're depleted overnight from not eating)... there's actual MANY MANY more advantages from fasted cardio but I'm too lazy to listen them. Like I said, eat your simple carbs early int he day (fruits) and then eat your starchy (bread, pasta) and fibrous (broccoli, cucumber) in the afternoon/evening...
>> Anonymous
>>171040
Yes, good carbs are fibrous/starchy. Whole grain weats, vegetables and even fruits.

Bad carbs are from things with sugar added. You also should never drink your calories like from fruit juices. Water and unsweetened tea is what you should drink.

Whole grain pasta is good. http://rapidshare.com/files/121796184/Burn_The_Fat_Feed_The_Muscle_-_Tom_Venuto.rar

Read this, or just download it for the lists of food in the appendix. A lot of great knowledge contained within though.

My best advice, is read the book. Make sure you not only understand it, but apply it. You'll be more knowledgeable than 3/4's of the people here if you do.
