dear /fit/

Last week I complained to my doctor about hair loss, and suggested that low testosterone levels may be a cause (in a roundabout way I was asking for a blood test). She told me that it was actually high testosterone that causes MPB, and that there is no sure way to combat it (which I already knew anyway). I did not challenge her medical expertise, as she seemed quite confident in her knowledge and I didn't want to seem rude. Was she full of shit, or am I misinformed?

Women rarely bald. Women have low testosterone.
Men often bald. Men have high testosterone.

I dunno, lol.

No, she was right. It's actually more of a hypersensitivity that the hair follicles have to testosterone though.

Atleast when you're bald and noone loves you, you can be content with the fact that you are a manly manly man.

Why did you go to the doctor about hair loss? Shave your head, cunt.

from Wikipedia:
>Men with androgenic alopecia typically have lower levels of total testosterone, higher levels of unbound/free testosterone, and higher levels of total free androgens including DHT.

>5-alpha-reductase is responsible for converting free testosterone into DHT.

>Sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), which is responsible for binding testosterone and preventing its bioavailability and conversion to DHT, is typically lower in individuals with high DHT.

That is a negative, anon -- less testosterone = bald = girlyman. Wikipedia says she was bullshitting, then again it is Wikipedia, but the chemical explanation they give seems to make sense.

You start losing hair when you have low testosterone and a lot of DHT, (DHT is converted to testosterone) You can ask your dermatologist to prescribe you Propecia, which will make your hair grow back in 6 months OR at least stop the loss. Propecia keeps DHT levels low, but because of that it can bring your testosterone levels even lower = little to no sex drive. You can try taking it and stop if you feel like the symptoms are too bad, I have been on it for a few months and haven't felt any symptoms yet. I got good results too.

Thats pretty funny, they told me that they don't prescribe propecia because "it doesn't work" or something.

It has worked for me, I also use Nizoral. It's a dandruff shampoo but it works on hair growth cause it blocks DHT at the hair follicle. You could also try Rogaine (in the U.S.), I haven't used that cause so far I got shit under control. :p
