All right /fit/, I've got a question about something that's been nagging me for a while now.

Okay, let's say I worked out Wednesday for 30-45 minutes. I just did my usual -- medium weight with lots of reps with my dumb bells, 50+ push ups, etc. In that respect, shit is good, but my question is --

Does using worked out muscles, say, the day after (not extensively, but more than normal), affect the rate/quickness of the muscle growth from the day before?

Or does all of that finalize during sleep?

Thanks /fit/, this could help me considerably.

As a rule of thumb, the day after, you should not exert your muscles for more than 10lbs of pressure. Also, make sure you have a constant supply of muscle milk and creatine. Drink a half gallon mix every half hour.

OP here.
Unfortunately, I'm way too fucking poor to afford creatine OR muscle milk.

Hooray for being genetically blessed!

But what if we have no choice but to exert more than 10 pounds of pressure on our worked muscles?

Where I work at, I commonly carry around from 10-50 pounds worth of food to and from a salad bar (yes, I work at a buffet house).

tldr: What negative effects would there be if you had to lift more than 10 pounds of weight the day after you work a certain muscle (especially the arms)?
