Hello, /fit/.

I'm thinking of inserting five minutes of running into my daily schedule for five days a week. Because I really need some cardio exercise.
(As a student, I'm at home reading and doing homework five days a week this semester. On those two days when I do need to leave the house, I pedal to class on my bike like crazy for twenty minutes or so, and twenty more back, and invariably arrive in class panting, five minutes early. But if that's all the cardio I get, it's a bit meagre.)

However, I've been told that running can be bad for the knees and whatnot if done excessively. My question is this: is it a bad idea to run every day for just five minutes?

Stop being a pussy and quit with the excuses, if your knees fuck up then stop running - it is easy as that

we're talking like a half marathon a day. For months.
And then we're only talking RSI at worst.
STOP FINDING EXCUSES AND RUN DAMMIT.

Lol, okay, thanks.

I'm really not making excuses, though. I like exercise, and I'd love to implement this. I'm just worried about injuries.

Also, I'm not talking about jogging, I'm talking about sprinting at full speed. Because I'm too impatient for jogging.

Faggot. Prepare to puke up your guts and shit and not be able to do distance running. Lazy asses like you need not to soil /fit/

To all the "5 minutes is nothing" peeps:
I gave this a first try a few days ago, running one block in short sprints, which took five minutes. It took me the rest of the day to recover.

So yes, I suck. That's why I'm starting small.

...You have a bike. What's the point of running? What type of a bike is it?

1. On my bicycle, I'd need to get further away from home for it to be significant, and it would take more time. On foot it's enough to run around the block.
Like I said, I'm used to 20 minutes daily, but if I can spare it I'd rather use most of that time for studying.
2. Since I'm used to riding a bicycle, that also means it's no fun. Running is a relatively new way for me to work out. I'd have better motivation to keep doing it regularly.

By 'studying' I assume you mean 'playing WoW'?

No one studies the entire day. If you think you can't fit in an hour to do cardio then you are just trying to find an excuse not to exercise.

ok i l explain...
first of all, no you wont get injury from running if you
a)not a fat fuck(>250lbs)
b)get proper shoes
c)run in proper form. some people have proper form from the beggining, but most of the people are retards. look on the internet on some marathon runners and sprinters they often speak about it.
to run more you need to build up endurance, to build up endurance you must run for a good amount of time (>30minutes at the very least) at the constant pace( you may speed up and down, but you must always run)
also you can build up endurance doing low weight/hight rep things.
once you becmoe good there will be a choice, being sprinter or endurance runner, things differ from there, but that shouldnt bother you for a long while
