Though I would recommend going to a clinic regardless, a modern sort of folk remedy is to cover the area with a patch of duct tape. This works in two ways: 1, it seals off the area, preventing it from spreading elsewhere via dermal contact. 2, this seal exposes the fungus to the somewhat ill-tempered chemicals in duct tape adhesive, which, when combined with the fact that your body is probably (and hopefully) trying to fight the infection, means that the fungus is getting attacked on all sides.
