Starting to lift... Anonymous
I want to start lifting. The thing is, I'm a skinny fag and I'm not even sure I could lift an empty bar. Don't those things weigh quite a bit? I had trouble with my 45 lb monitor. How should I build up my arms without using a barbell?

Pushups, take as many sets as you need to get to 100
Bodyweight Squats, same thing, get to 100
Pullups: get to say 40
Dips: 40
This is a basic workout to get your body ready to lift weights

The weight of an empty bar will suprise you at first, but keep at it, I guarantee you can deadlift an empty bar.

Google "Starting Strength" by Mark Rippetoe, this is an EXCELLENT beginner program, I used it myself. there are complete and detailed guides on many forums, specifically the bodybuilding.com forum

not in one set, like in one workout. take as many rests as you need
