Amount of water had that day, less sleep, muscles more fatigued, body is more adapted to exercise, and the list goes on. Don't worry about calories too much (yes caloric intake is important but..) worry more about macronutrients: carbs, fat, and protein, and what you need for what you're doing. fruit carbs are good. They're low GI, meaning not much of a 'sugar rush', but less energy at a specific time, but it lasts overall longer. Cottage cheese has some carbs, too, but they're higher in GI. Definitely has a lot of protein, though. I'd say have a small apple and the cottage cheese.
