Nothing wrong with msg. Some idiots with allergies gave it a bad rap.

MSG occurs naturally in a lot of foods (like parmesan cheese). When you take it in high doses in liquid form, you get headaches and the like.

Don't worry about MSG, you'll have a hard enough time trying to avoid transfats and HFCS.

no "glutamate" occurs naturally in foods not "mono sodium glutamate" two different things , also there seems to be long term effects from msg as well as effects on the fetas depending on whose research you listen to

There's an MSG test group one billion strong over on the other end of the world; keep an eye on them if you like.

We're bombarded with enough radiation and deadly poison in our daily lives that I doubt your MSG intake is going to be the tipping point in any major health issue.

In the end I don't see it as a good return for the effort expended, not in the way that something like cutting out refined flour would be (and I have a bitch of a time doing that much.) If you have the willpower and the time to pull it off, let us know how it treats you.

ive cut out refined flour as well. first i cut out msg 2 years ago only to find out its in a few products in my house today in the form of Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein , i definitely will be eliminating them now .

I did research specifically on msg. People who are allergic to it are highly allergic; like peanuts, where one person ruins the lives of anyone within a 10 block radius. The other negative propaganda about it is that it is a 'salt' and is used as such to preserve meat. There have been cases where this meat was spoiled and people got sick.

what about the Excitotoxicity of it ?

not the same as peanuts at all , a dose of msg 200 times the average dose in a cup of noodles or whatever product is going to give anybody a bad reaction, where as if you have 200 times the average dose of peanuts you will physically choke or burst but not be overcome by any peanut
toxicity (unless you were allergic) .

The anti-additive movement (check out the excellent and informative www.truthinlabeling.org) admits that 'natural' and 'industrially produced' glutamate are chemically the same

no they dont this is a lie
