I'm 5'9, weigh about 215-220 lbs. I know, way too much. I've been slacking it for the past 2 weeks since I'm studying for finals, but since the start of March I've been exercising and watching what I eat.

Breakfast is 1-3 apples, lunch is usually a lean chicken breast with white rice, dinner is usually fruits with almonds. Probably a shitty diet - I have no idea what to actually eat, and everytime I try to read up on it I'm bombarded with "carbs" and "leans" and this and that without actual names of foods I can purchase and place into my mouth in good quantities.

My exercise is usually done super late, which I'm trying to change. I alternate between arms on one day, and chest/abs the next for about 25-30 min, and then a 20 minute run on good settings on an elliptical machine (have one in the garage, along with a Bowflex).

I know I've lost weight - when I started, a size 40 jeans no longer needed a belt, and now size 38"s are becoming too big for me. But I'd like to hit, say 34"s by June. Is that possible? Is there any advice? Honestly, name what meals I should be eating and I'll do it. Exercises I should be doing? I'll do 'em.

Pic unrelated.

OP here, bumping again before sleep

actually, looks like a fairly healthy diet... get some grains and fibers in there (and some red meat or fish if you like)

keep it up, good luck, etc.

Is the exercise a good one? I'm seeing all this stuff about HIIT and whatnot, and not sure if my 20 minute run is good. Scales up from resistance 1 to resistance 9 and then back down again, leaves me with a good sweat - I've been meaning to switch it to something tougher when I don't break as bad of a sweat.

learning how to make good soup is an (easy) essential life skill.

The diet isn't bad, but you should get more whole grains/vegetables. Try replacing your white rice with brown rice; it has more minerals will provide a more stable level of energy compared to white rice. You could probably eat more for breakfast as well, perhaps some oatmeal, or muesli if you're into that sort of thing. Otherwise, it seems like your exercise routine is good, but perhaps get some lower body exercising in there as well. I think a Bowflex can do those (not sure, too poor/cheap to buy one myself).

The only difference between white and brown rice is fiber. That's it. It's no more better than white, all it has it about 2g more fiber per serving.

Get better educated on this stuff before you start talking like a brainwashed idiot.

Is the meal good? Add some more greens in there, you think?

I'm going to change my exercise routine a bit - rather than just alternating between arms and chest, going to try more sets, less reps, and more compound rather than isolation exercises (see? I've been reading).

Bowflex seems limited, so going to basically throw in more pushups, dips, situps, etc.

Okay so more greens. I drink water a lot already - I cut out other drinks entirely, almost. I've had 4 cans of coke in the past 2 months.
