sup /fit/

At the mo my bmi is about 24.4 ish (5ft 10), I want to bring my weight down to just above 10 stone, would this still be a healthy weight?

I have a large frame and I don't know much about bmi, I'm not entirely sure that it'd be possible to get down to 10st so should I judge a healthy weight through sheer looks rather than bmi?

sounds healthy yes, why wouldn't it be. you'll always KNOW when you're at a healthy weight because you'll look good

once you see decent proportions you could gain muscle and shred any remaining fat you don't want

Well I'm already pretty muscular already through drumming but working in a kitchen means it's pretty easy to build up fat (plus after running around a kitchen for 9 hours I normally feel too lazy to exercise), the main reason I want to loose weight is to get rid of general weight around my torso (and get rid of man boobs before they start to form into breasts).

I know there's no way to control which areas you burn fat from but perhaps a bit of stamina training like sit-ups would tone these areas and make them look less flabby?

I want to know where your Height/Stone BMI calculator is.

I thought the BBC would be impartial, rather than using one off a dieting site or whatever.

BMI means shit. Doesn't say anything about a persons fitness. Body fat percantage is the only measurement.

Also, you will not pack on muscle drumming. You need to contiually overload your muscles to shock them to growth. Unless you've been adding heavier and heavier weights on your drum sticks, you're nothing anyone would call muscular.

You obviously don't drum.

I also said I wanted to lose weight, not get fit.

Drumming will not make you gain muscle. It's an aerobic muscular endurance workout at best.

Then I guess I am naturally muscular since I do fuck all else.

Lose weight and not get fit? How is that mutually exclusive? The goal should be fat loss, not weight loss. It's easy to lose weight, just go into a sauna for an hour. It's also easier to lose muscle mass than it is to lose fat. Resulting in what is called "skinny fat", where your weight is low/average, you look alright with clothes on, but the fat is still hanging on you underneath.

Exactly. Also why you don't gain muscle from walking or running. Or from hammering. Improved muscle endurance? Probably, but no real increase in size or strength.
