Hey /fit/ quick question. I'm 5'11" and I weigh in at 172 lbs but lately I noticed that I have a decent amount of tummy fat. I looked up my ideal weight and it said I should measure in around 160-165 so I have 2 questions actually. 1) If I lose the 10 lbs that I'm overweight by will that tummy fat go away? And 2) Do I necessarily need to do excercises that work my stomach like situps to lose it? Or will just doing cardio work? Thanks!
You can't target fat loss. Do situps to get more abdominal muscle definition and do cardio to lose fat so they're visible.
The stomach and ab area is the first place a body stores fat.

Thanks /fit/, gives me some motivation. I think I'll focus on the cardio aspect of it and getting down to my weight first, then tone it up when I reach there. Thanks!
>>22560It'll be better to try to do both at the same time. Building up muscle raises your BMR (Base Metabolic Rate, or how much shit you burn without donig nothing) so you get boost, and that's where the majority of your caloiries are burned. A good combo of both aerobic and anaerobic is the key.

Attempt to cut sugars/sweeteners (diet colas as well, use flavored water packets or something) out of your diet and try tough out cravings for it. After a while you don't care for the stuff and you will notice a difference. Also drink a shitload of water (again, you will stop having to use the restroom so often after your body adapts). Meat is fine but potatoes/starch(cereals) arn't so great when you're trying to slim down. When you combine a diet change with a metabolic change (introduction of exercise) you will see fast results.
you probably don't need to lose 10 pounds, maybe 5-6, you'd benefit more from weight training. (assuming the picture is you, and you're not holding massive fat stores in your face and ankles)

working your abs will absolutely not make "tummy fat" go away.the only way to do this is to have a lower body fat percentage... IE do moar cardio...its a terrible thing, but it must be done.
