SUP /FIT/ LOL

I just have a question that might be considered dumb by most of you, but anyway.

Calories, are they all the same or are some of them healthier? say i'm supposed to eat 4000calories per day, how do i know which kind of calories are better? obviously 4000calories from nothing but soda won't be as good as.. something else, but generally what kind of calories are best to look for?

pic not related, but hot

Calories is energies.

So like, there are good calories in the sense that they come from healthy food.

But there aren't different styles of calories.
When someone says "empty calories", they're referring to the calories you get from nutritionally void foods such as soda and noodles.

I recommend the following foods: fruit and vegetables.

But stay away from dairy, as it's high fat (and although it's got calcium in it, there is plenty in vegetables)

If you're going to eat meat, white meat all the way.
White meat is lower is fat, as a general rule.
So chicken, turkey and fish are healthiest.

Soda, noodles, fastfood, anything high in oil, etc, baaad.

You should eat around 1800cal a day.
So don't go wasting caloric intake on shit that has no health value.

you want to try to eat as many calories that contain trans fat as you can. avoid fish and chicken eat a lot of red meat. Fried foods will help you hit your 4000 calories, so i suggest you eat as much as you can. o and don't eat any brown grain only white.

What I said still makes perfect sense.
A calorie is always a calorie, the only good or bad is where it comes from.

Unless you were calling OP uninformed.
Whatever. *shrug*

What the deuce? Don't avoid dairy..... Dairy is full of casein, which is a slow-acting protein, making it the ideal pre-bed snack.

Number of calories you eat per day, as well as where you get them from depend on your goals.
You might want to check out glycemic load to differentiate between different sources of carbs, too.

Yuck.

Dairy is such crap.
Also, pre-bed snacks?
Fuck that shit.

Keep your opinions to yourself. I, for one, eat right before bed and wake up in the middle of the night almost every night to eat.

Everybody responds to food a bit differently. If you are naturally skinny, its a bad idea to skip meals. If you are naturally fat, its good to avoid sugars. Everybody should avoid added sugars, especially HFCS. High fructose corn syrup fucks up your blood sugar and causes energy crashes in just about everybody.

Yes calories matter. And well I highly doubt you need 4000 calories per day. Unless you are like 250 pounds of pure muscle, and run 5k's 3 times a week.

The average active man needs around 3000, maybe a bit more depending on activity level, build. The average inactive man is more like 18,00-2,200. If you are really fat, yes its harder to move around, but not THAT much harder. Besides if you are fat, I bet you want to loose it. The ONLY way to loose fat is to eat less than you burn.

What you want is calories from low glycemic index food. They keep you feeling full and satisfied longer, and are generally very vitamin filled foods.

A good "rule of thumb" when picking food, if you can't imagine that food alive looking back 3-4 steps of preparation, then don't eat it. That pretty much precludes all processed foods. (And yes cutting/butchering counts as a step) The only caveat here is 100% whole grain breads. Breads do make like easier with sandwiches and all, and 100% whole grains have lots of good fiber for you.

Yes, his simple typo makes his entire informed, well-written post for naught.

Anyway, OP, you already got your advice. Just bear in mind that eating 4000 calories of veggies and lean meats will make you almost as fat as 4000 calories of cinnamon rolls and deep fried hamburger meat.
