Question.

I am a runner. I have run a few half marathons, a marathon, and I run 5-6 days a week. I stretch before and after and everything is usually good. Recently my foot has been falling asleep on my longer runs and I went to the university medical center and they told me I have tendinitis. Its the tendon that curves around my ankle on the inside and they told me it was swelling and cutting off blood flow to my foot. Unfortunately, the university insurance only covers the visits and they told me the anti-inflammatory was going to cost me well over 75 dollars. Being a poor college student, I was wondering if you knew of any cheaper alternatives. I have read that icing obviously helps but do you know of anything else?

Rest for a couple of weeks, maybe even a month, srsly I mean nothing at all, little as possible. You'll recover fitness fast after it. Pay for the medication if it'll help you recover. Your fitness/health is more important than anything else you need to buy, make sacrifices. If you don't take the rest period you're going to end up setting yourself WAY back in the long term, and you'll probably have nagging problems for the rest of your life. Relax and enjoy the break.
