What does /fit/ think of isometric exercises?

they're okay brah, but squatz are where it is at for strength gains.

I'd rather incorporate isometric movements into my workouts. I do now like the static exercising by itself, never seems to work well for me. A good example is compound rowing, if you hold the weight by pinching your shoulder blades, it does an amazing workout for your back.

I've made some good progress with front and back lever holds. In general though, isometrics (like planks) are far too easy and would better be replaced by a more difficult movement (like ab rollouts - even trying to pause at the bottom for a short isometric hold).
