I've just started reading "Burn the fat, feed the muscle" and one of the things the author said is that you can't burn fat and grow muscle at same time, since one needs calorie deficit and the other surplus.

Now, I still have a bit of padding over my abs and around other places (not that overweight, but 154 pounds, average height). I'm kinda confused, is working out for muscles at this point redundant until all the fat is gone? or will a combination of fat loss and gym sessions etc work together?

I don't want to be xboxhuge, my motivational goal would be something like pic.

Plz unconfuse me

Heavy weight training maximizes the metabolism, and helps retain muscle, that would otherwise be lost, since cardio+calorie deficit = catabolzation of muscle.

If you want to look like that, it would be easier to bulk up now, and cut all of the fat off at once, instead of cutting, then bulking, then cutting. Nothing melts fat off the body like muscle.

p.s. please don't make think looking xboxhuge is something you stumble upon

It's a general rule, not 'gospel truth'.

It's certianly possible, easy on steroids, but very inneficient either way.

No, i don't understand why you'd ask this. You can gain muscle now, and this is infact the ideal course of action as, as already mentioned, muscle increases your metabolism and makes fat loss much easier.

The best way to reach your goal would be to bulk up (gain a shit ton of muscleand inevitably some fat) THEN cut (lose a shit ton of fat and inevitably some muscle).
