Any advice? Anonymous
Dear /fit/,

I am a 19 year old who's considered fat but is pretty underweight. I'm 5'11 at 163 lbs. It wasn't like this until I took a crash diet [which fucking sucked, btw]. So I'm considered a "skinny-fat" guy. The crash diet made me lose lots of muscle which was the result of all this.

I've been trying to get rid of the fat and muscle up but don't know where to start because of this. Feel like shit as well.

Advice on what to diet/excerise on and other crap is much appreciated.

I was in your same position a few months ago. Crash dieted for about two years not even knowing it--misinformation made me think caloric deficits were bomb and good for weightloss. But nope.

Go find Venuto's Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle, and read it and follow it. The thing about transitioning to a real diet and exercise regimen is that it will be a slow and psychologically paranoid progression. You will think the results aren't there because they're sneaking up on you so slow--but man, they are definitely there. Eating a proper amount just slightly below caloric needs is going to make you think you're getting bloated, but your bodyfat is the thin layer on the outside, not the inward expansion that food will do to you.

Basically, 5-6 meals a day spaced out evenly, protein with each, keep fat and carbs separate--fats toward night, carbs loaded in the morning. Healthy sources only. Eat oatmeal for breakfast, whey after exercise, and cottage cheese is always an awesome snack. Stay away from simple sugars.

Pic related, me 2 months down the line leaving the land of skinnyfat, still going strong.

When the infrastructure is already there, a diet change has a huge effect. I was running daily and lifting weights biweekly even before I started off with the better diet after reading Venuto's book. Nothing changed, exercise-wise. All I did was dump another 1000+ calories of healthy stuff at the right times on top of it all. They don't joke around when they say diet is 90% of the game.

fix'd.

And it's not a crappy ass-book. It's actually a damn good guide.

That's the kind of attitude that made me skinnyfat to begin with.

Reading Venuto's BFFM is as satisfying to me as coming is, you know? As having sex with a woman and coming. And so can you believe how much I am in heaven? I am like, uh, getting the feeling of coming in a gym, I'm getting the feeling of coming in my kitchen, I'm getting the feeling of coming at my computer when I load up the PDF file; when I lose over 9,000 pounds of flab, I get the same feeling, so I am coming day and night. I mean, it's terrific. Right? So you know, I am in heaven.

can someone post a pic of 'skinnyfat'? I can't picture what this is and it's always mentioned without a related pic.
