I'm an air swallower. I started doing it to piss off my co-workers, because I would have wicked gas afterwards, but now I can't help myself sometimes, I do it unconsciously. Idk anyways, one thing that helps get rid of gas is to do jack knife sit-ups, it massages the bowels pretty good and the gas is usually forced out of your ass quicker.
One thing about IBS is that some people have quit eating processed and refined foods, that seems to help ease down their symptoms.
