There has been significant correlations between the standard of living in a country and that countries average height. For example, most of the nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, etc.), Germany, and Holland, all had avg heights well below the u.s.'s in the early 20th century. After WW2, when the standard of living (better nutrition, health care) in European countires drastically increased so did the average heights. Holland's avg. height is now 6 feet(183cm) - which is 3 inches ABOVE the U.S.'s
There has also been a drastic increase in height recently in Asian countries, further solidifying this correlation.
