So /fit/ I've been working out for over 2 years. I didn't have very good results (I didn't really get huge muscles or anything - I got from skinny to only sligtly muscular; I got a lot stronger though). Then, couple months ago I started training muay thai and sadly didn't have time to hit the gym at all.
I finaly got motivation, and today I went to the gym for the first time in 4-5 months. I won't be working out hard in there, as I've got muay thai trainings 3 times a week (I'll be lucky if I find time to go to the gym even 2 times a week).
Now my question is this - is this "muscle memory" thing real, and if so, when will I get to my (not very impressive, mind you) size from half a year ago?

You clearly don't understand that huge muscles aren't a standard result of working out. If you're not devotedly aiming to build a massive physique you're unlikely to achieve one.

Also post your workout, sounds like it's shite.

Suck it up, I teach TKD 4 days a week, work out at TKD 3 of those days, and still lift 4-5 times a week.

Muscle memory doesn't really involve muscle development in the way you're thinking. Muscle memory means that if you throw a punch as hard as you can again and again and again and again and again that your body will memorize the movements necessary for it. It basically just takes your brain out of the equation.

I know it, I just wrote that I wasn't very big since I thought that it may be important.

I have none so far. I don't own my old ones, and my trainer hasn't prepared a new one for me yet.

OP again: whoa that's a lot! Is teaching tkd your only source of income or do you have another job or something? I mean, how do you find time for all of this?

I've been doing it for 10 years, so I guess I've gotten used to it. It's my only source of income, but I'm in still in college.

My schedule right now looks like:
Mon:Lift, teach from 4-8, workout 8-9
Tue:rest or lift
Wed:Lift, work 4-8, workout 8-9
Thurs: rest or lift
Fri:lift, work 4-7, workout 7-8
Sat:Work 9-3, maybe take one of the classes, lift
Sun:rest or lift

Right now I'm still on summer break so it's easy. Once classes start my TKD schedule will stay the same, but it may get trickier to fit in my lifting days.

My bad, I'm 20 now and have been doing TKD since I was 8 or 9. I keep forgetting so I just say 10 years. I've been teaching since I was 15ish as a volunteer. Then I started getting paid to do it when I was 16-17.

I'd assume that he needs to sleep at some point. I would be interested in knowing how many hours he sleeps every night.

I've heard that if you sleep for under 7 hours, your muscles won't be able to build, and you'll actually get weaker by training.

I've got a decent amount of free time, though TKD is a pretty big part of my social life.

I don't work at all on Tue, Thurs, or Sun. On Sat I only work in the morning, so I have the whole rest of the day off. The rest of the days I still have enough time to do whatever after work, though I normally just go home. Plus my lifting routines are only 45min to an hour, so I don't spend my whole day at the gym.

My sleep schedule is a little out of wack due to summer break. I've been going to sleep around 2-3 and waking up around 11. But I've been slowly trying to correct that since school starts in about 3 weeks.

it's not the sleep cycle that repairs the muscles, it's time off in general. your body is repairing the muscle damage all the time. sleep is to regenerate your brain, not your body.

OP you probably didn't gain a lot of muscle due to not eating enough and may of had a crappy lifting program.
