since you're going for fat loss, your best bet is to focus on low-intensity, long-duration aerobic exercise, such as a nice, long walk. the reason why, btw, is that the breakdown of fat energy is relatively slow, as compared to burning up stored glycogen (that's basically the storage form of carbohydrates). since you're just starting, try going for slow, but long (the more hours the better) walks. as you get better and more confident, work up to long-distance mid-intensity runs, like marathons (26.2 miles) or even ultramarathons (49.9 miles) if you're feeling epic-fat is a major energy source used for those kinds of exercises, as well. keep in mind, though, that we use some combination of carb and fat for energy. at rest, we rely mostly on fats, but at maximal effort, we rely mostly on stored carbohydrate energy.
