Ok, first time poster here /fit/, so forgive my noobishness...
Here's the skinny-

6'1"-ish
~260lbs
Waist 38

Diet consists of
Breakfast- Toasted bagel w/ creamcheese and about 300 calories worth of fat free chocolate milk (I've found it kills snack cravings for the rest of the day)

Lunch- Slimfast meal bar and V8 berry juice

Dinner- Wildcard- usually dont eat till I'm full and try to avoid eating Fastfood..

>V8 berry juice
Cut that out. I looked at the nutritional facts on that shit and it was like 10% fruit juice and the rest was high fructose corn syrup and water. Just throw some fruit in a blender and drink that.

Dude you eat like shit, why the fuck are you drinking 300 calories of pure sugar in chocolate milk. Why not start your day with some oatmeal with blueberries. Have some cottage cheese as a snack in between lunch, and have a sandwhich for lunch. Have a protein bar as a snack in the afternoon and then have some chicken and vegetables for dinner. You so FAT because you eat like shit.

unfortunately, that's while I'm at work in the city. There's a resturant that does that sort of stuff I believe, I'll scout it out tomorrow...from what I've heard, their stuff isn't much better...

Is there any sort of drink that isn't water, but good for what I'm looking for?

Most of my meals are while I'm at work, and I've got no prep time for food.

I'll cut it out if you can give me some commuter friendly food that I can either easily make or buy.

More meals during the day with smaller portions will increase your metabolism. Light weight lifting along with running will help you burn fat and make you more lean. Get rid of soda, no soda. Drink water, your body needs it and it will help you lose some weight if you cut out soda. Snacks are fine if you are eating something healthy, like I said more meals, smaller portions.

go to a grocery store or deli. Most have sliced fruit you can just pick up and go. Eat that for lunch with salad.

Also, I doubt your size 38 waist. if you're 260 and 6'1 you'd be at least a 40 or 42 inch waist.

alright, thanks!

Though I have already cut out sodas, do you mean by that also lemonade- I know the miniutemade stuff is made by Coke and has a fuck ton of sugar so I avoid that crap.

What kind of meals should I look at? Granola bars and the like?

What should I look for in terms of nutritional facts here? I try to avoid high calorie counts and sugar counts, but what would you classify as 'too high'

I used to be 6'2 190, at my lightest I got down to 150 (although it fucked me up for my sport and I'm up to 170 now) Anyway the one major thing I did other then starting to train hard, was cut out all soda. Seriously nothing other then water and milk. For breakfast lose the bagel and get some whole wheat bread, and oat meal. I then would have some fruit for a snack. For lunch, salad or some grilled chicken. Then another snack maybe a granola bar or protein bar. Dinner maybe some whole wheat pasta (small portion) and a salad.

do you take a bus or subway after your inital commute?

If so, I suggest walking to work

Well, heres my daily routine.

I get to the train one way or another- bus, car, whatever. Too far away to walk and make my train, and to hell with waking up early.

I sit on the train for ~40 mins and walk from the station to work- about a 15 minute walk- I can see the building from the station.

At work, I buy my breakfast (pending change after tonight) and card in and get my bag x-rayed (I carry about 10-20 lbs in my backpack) and take the elevator up to 10 (technically something like 14 but its not my building).

Depending on how busy my day is- I'm either mostly sitting, walking all over, and moving around computers/crawling under desks/etc.

At lunch, I go down to where there's a small restaurant and a mini-mart. Then I go back up to 5 and work on my laptop while I eat.

I go back to work until 4:45, walk to the train, get home, and go to the gym if its gym day. Usually, dinner is either right away at 6ish or later at 9.

I've already eliminated sodas, and I don't eat fast food- when it can be helped- I can't cook and I make no demands on those who can.

cant- its a secure building with a public lobby. I can take the stairs to MOST floors- just not all.

So far my day's been a men's multivitamin, 1L of water with weat toast (no butter or jam) and for lunch, i have a ceasar salad with grilled chicken. I picked up a V8 Fusion- I know what's been said, but this stuff is different than the splash. Its 100% juice with no fructose corn syrup. It says it provides full veggie and fruit daily supplement. 170 Calories, 38 g sugar- should I cut this shit out? or is it good?

For tonight, I want to do white pasta- any suggestions? Spaghetti or what?
