Dont wanna be a fatty :( Anonymous
Hey /fit/, well, here's the story.

About a year ago this november, I broke my right knee playing soccer. Pretty bad injury, my cap became three separate pieces.

Anyway, this left me immobilized for a while, and after what the hospital calls a 'succesful recovery', my knee is being an overall failure. If I run, or put too much weight on it, it hurts like a motherfucker.

Sadly, it gets to the point where after a few minute jog, I need a cane to get around, same goes for really cold days. I've learned to live with this, and I sorta even like the 'House' nickname my colleagues have given me.

And here comes the pic I attatched, thats me, today. Im 1.80m-82kg, or 5'9 and 180lb. My friends tell me i've simply gone from athletic to 'normal' but im afraid of this getting worse.

Any recommendations on how to work out or how to keep myself fit in my condition?

TL;DR - Broke knee, muscles gone, how I work out?

Seconded for swimming.

At least you haven't given up because "you have an excuse", like most people would. I commend your bravery, sir.

Stop being a bitch because you lost definition, your pecs are still kinda there, and I can see your ribs. Goddamn, whats wrong with normal anyway?

Grats on wanting to be fit. Too many people sprain an ankle and go 'im disabled now, i can be fat'. I'd go for the elliptic, swimming can generate some stress in the area.

I had a soft tissue injury to my left knee. It had a similar effect on me: it hurt to even stand up from a sitting position, much less do anything sporty, so I quit all athletic activities. I got depressed, gained weight and got weak and soft. After about a year of doing nothing, I eased back into walking, then easy jogging (seriously a 15 minute mile, and not even going the full mile). I did bodyweight exercises to keep the rest of me in shape, and actually bodyweight squatting kept my legs flexible and toned if nothing more. If a 20 minute walk is all you can bear, then do that. Would a knee brace help?
