Evening, /fit/. You seem to be active right now, so I thought I'd drop my question.

At the moment I'm around 147lbs at 5'9", gradually gaining from eating well (as well as more) and going through a simple but consistent weightlifting routine. I have a fairly fast metabolism. I limit each session to just over an hour or, from experience, I don't get any significant gains. Progress is there, but it's frustratingly slow.

So is creatine worth paying for and consuming in my situation? If so, how should I do it, and how long for?

Oh, and I'll give any relevant details about my diet or routine if need be.

creatine is dirt cheap - don't bother with expensive formulations. you seem to have a pretty good idea of your current capabilities, so try it and see if it helps

i bet it will

Creatine has indeed gone down in price, but depending on what kind you get can change a few things.

If you get the cheap ass stuff from say, GM, then you will need what is called a loading period, where you shove a bunch of the shit down everyday for about a week, and then you just maintain a certain level after workout days.

If you get some more expensive stuff, such as creatine citrate, you don't usually need a loading period, and if you do, it is much shorter and involves much less of an amount.

The performance gains you get from it aren't godlike, but they are nice. They were enough for me to break through a couple peaks every now and then.

Some people suggest doing two month cycles, as the long term effects of constant creatine usage are still being studied, :P

Money is tight. And actually, that's another thing I meant to ask. No particular brand is worth getting, right? I'll pick it up and see how it goes.

I've heard of people talking about 'loading' and other plans to go by when taking creatine. How do these go?

Answered my previous question bang on. Thank you. I'll probably have to draw up somethnig long term, as I'll be getting the cheaper stuff. Would I have to repeat the loading session every two months?

Yes, as after a two month break, your cell's creatine levels are back to default.
