1. Have no fear. Competing against actual opponent you've never seen before as opposed to teammates/regular practice fighters can be very nerve racking. Fear clouds your judgment in combat. Have none.

ok heres real advice, been doing judo for 12 year am 2nd degree brown.

Remember foot sweeps are a judoka's jab. you can find distance, and set up combos with it, dont just spam or kick it out. but feet sweeps are great, try de hasi hari, or sashi ashi (forward, and side foot sweep)

if uke is defending, he will post on his attack foot, go in for an ouchi/ko ouchi gari, or osoto.
