sup /fit/, ive decided to try to lose some of the weight ive gained over the winter, but i really dont know how to properly diet and exercise

for my diet i was thinking something like:
breakfast: cereal or oatmeal (dont know which kind is best, maybe you could help) with a banana or orange
snack: fruit (any kind)
lunch: skinless chicken and some salad or fruit
snack: fruit
dinner: same as lunch
---with only drinking water and maybe milk at dinner

and for exercise i was thinking of just doing push-up and sit ups in the morning and going for a long walk later in the day (and maybe build up to jogging)

oh, and im 18 years old, 5'11 and about 190lbs if that helps

don't have the same thing for dinner and lunch, you'll hate it fast as hell.

you're not terrifically overweight, to be honest you could easily see a difference if you just stopped drinking soda and cut 500 calories from your diet. no need for all this extreme diet bullshit that the 300lb fatties force themselves on.

go to a gym, turn your blubber into brawn.

op here
ya, i pretty much cut soda from my diet -- i used to drink about 4-5 diet cokes a day during winter up to about a week ago (like the taste of diet more, dont know if its just as bad for you as regular)
and what would you suggest for dinner instead of the skinless chicken?

lol, cutting diet coke is different than cutting out normal coke. Diet Coke has no calories, dipshit. Nothing will happen to your weight.

Eat oatmeal for breakfast, it's the cheapest and healthiest breakfast.
Cereals, even the "OMG SUPER FIT IN 2 HOURS" almost always contain large amounts of sugar and/or no fibres.

Diet is fine, just dont go overboard on carbs. Vegetables are your friend, eat them in bulk with your food. If you found your BMR and hacked 500-800 off it, you should be able to eat all that food within your calorie limit.

You cannot spot reduce fat, so pushup's and situp's are irrelevant unless you want to build some definition to your body, which you might aswell do since you dont have much fat at all and it will come through after you drop about 10lb-14lb (at a guess).

Toning (im not telling you how to do them, youtube them for instructions):

- Crunches > situp's.

The problem with situps is it puts a strain on your back and causes injury. Whats more is the actual work done is performed in the first 30 degrees of raising from the ground. Get started with crunches and prepare to feel like you are being punched in the abs.

- Others:

Pushups, bench press, bicep curl, SQUATZ. Find a guide on youtube, dont buy into "6 second abs". All these products are shit and its no substitute for hard work.

If you can handle jogging, go for it. Cardio is the key to losing weight, approx. 20 mins into a cardio workout (may be less time if you do weight lifting before your cardio as it uses up alot of glycogen) you will run out of glycogen (your primary source of energy) and begin to burn fat as an energy source. You will feel drained and it will be more intense as fat isnt an efficient source of energy.

Though it will cause bloating, not something you want when trying to work out and if you are using the tape measure it can add a few cm.

More to the point you should be drinking water, coke is shit regardless of whether or not its diet.

shit man, anything as long as it has protein, carbs and veg and minerals. don't eat super-greasy shit like fries or pizza, have a steak with potatoes and veg, or make your own spaghetti bolognese. buy a packet of minced beef, add to pot with chopped onions and garlic, chuck in some canned tomatoes, some kidney beans, some chilli powder/chilli paste, a bay leaf or two, some basil, a splash of oil and some salt an pepper. simmier for an hour, stirring every five minutes or so. voila - chilli. eat with rice or bread, and you've got a full meal.
