I run 6 miles a week and picking up my usual nike shoes is out of the question, money wise. The cost to buy them is over what I have left, financially, monthly. It will be over my budget for a while.

I'm looking for /fit/'s blessing that wal-mart shoes are "good enough" for what I need. Or a recommendation to hold out 4-8 more months so I can actually afford $80 shoes.

Oh shit a hard choice to make. Normally id say go with the cheap to save money but shoes? hmmm I guess youd have to look at the shoe itself to see how its made and whether or not the dam sole will rip off in a few days.

Why not check out Marshalls or TJ Maxx ? Safer bet there.

The quality vs. cost of nike vs. saucony, new balance, asics is pretty bad. Nikes are not running shoes. Goto a shoe store and pick up some actual running shoes, theyre way cheaper than nike.

My suggestion is go to an actual running store, and get a sense for your foot shape, and it's requirements. Although people have their favorite shoes, it's very individual. Check online at places like Sportsbasement.com, and you might find a good deal.
