Who are you, / fit/? Anonymous
I really like the positivity and frankness on this board, even being the bitter oldfag that I am. I hope the board sticks around for good.

I wonder, how many of you are either new to 4chan or didn't post much before? Do you go to other boards? I see a decent number of posters here identifying themselves as female, more than I'd expect in, say, /v/ or /a/ -- does this self-improvement nature of /fit/ appeal to them more than just trolling animu and shit?

tl;dr who are you and why did you come here?
>> Anonymous
I came here because I was bugging Moot about making /fit/ and bringing back /sp/ for a good while. This board is better than I expected but there are too many threads saying the same thing.
>> Anonymous
i've been on 4chan since it began in late 01

as an avid weight lifter, i only check out this board for laughs and facepalm.jpg as nearly no one knows what they're talking about and everyone is either a fatass or a beanpole.

anyone who really wants to get in shape just need to just get to the gym and lift weights (observe others and learn in the beginning), do cardio, eat healthy foods (chicken breast, tuna, oats, milk, eggs, vegetables, cottage cheese, lentils, etc) get plenty of sleep, and to lose weight, eat less than you're expending, and to gain weight, eat more than you're expending.

none of the people here need to worry about the specifics or micromanaging their routines/diet as they're so far from reaching the point where that would be of any benefit.

4chan isn't that old, lrn2count.

Personally, I've been on 4chan for the past 3 years. Started with /b/, and stayed there for a good year before I even bothered to click one of the other boards.

Now I frequent /co/ and /tg/, but /fit/ has the possibility to be epic win, if people would stop posting the same thread 4 times on every page. XD
>> Anonymous
>>29955

I agree that a lot of talk amounts to nothing, but it's the same way with /a/ versus actually watching anime or /v/ versus actually playing games. People like to talk about shit and complain and gives their 2 cents and so on.

I'm also in good shape but don't scoff at anyone who wants to lose weight or develop a good workout routine. Doing it is more important than talking about it, but talking about it and then doing it is better than talking about Lucky Star and ignoring fitness entirely.

If 4chan somehow warrants a board for origami, or one for mecha, I think fitness has its place.

I used to be a fatass geek, which is why I've been here for 3 years (mostly /b/). Eventually I got serious about working out and have lost 60 pounds and put on a good amount of muscle. I never really learned to socialize or make friends, so I'm still a geek on /b/ on saturday nights. I'm bored a lot, so most of the time I am on a treadmill or in the weight room. There's still a lot I have to learn about fitness but I think I have the jest of it down.

hey genius, you could even find out how old 4chan is from its wikipedia page. not to mention, does "four more years" just not get through your trolly skull?

oh, and i forgot, i come to /fit/ to try and be helpful to anon that actually want help, and to see if there's anything anon can teach me.
>> Anonymous
I come to /fit/ because I'm a relatively in-shape female (5'5"/110 lbs) who eats healthfully and exercises daily, and I enjoy hearing other peoples thoughts and knowledge on health and fitness. I also really like the attitude of this board. I feel like these posters' desire to lose weight and gain muscle and just feel healthy shows a sort of maturity and self-respect I think is lacking in a lot of the other boards. Also, the replies to the tons of "How does I lost weight?" threads continue to generally be patient, polite and helpful which really surprised me. Before /fit/, I'd usually lurk /a/, /b/, /ck/ and /cm/, occasionally posting, but never really contributing all that much. I still visit those boards a lot, but I've recently been having a lot of fun in /fit/, /fa/ and /toy/ as well. I've been on 4chan for about 3 years I think.

I started browsing /b/ for the lulz about 6 months ago, but got over it fast and now post more or less exclusively on /co/ and /ic/. I've been lifting seriously for about 4 years now, and been posting on /fit/ since the first day it came up, although I've been trolling the bb.com misc for about 2 years now (learned more or less everything I know about supps, routines, etc. from the forums there). I come to /fit/ more than bb.com now simply because the bb.com misc is just as retarded as 4chan, except not funny.

I stopped answering the 'how does i lost weight' threads after about 20 of them were made, since they're all the same. I'm actually really surprised people even answer them anymore. I would've figured there'd just be a copy pasta whenever it gets brought up, or at least a sticky.

I'm an oldfag who's been lurking on and off for a long time. I've always been a puny faggot (5'7", 125 lb) and am somewhat interested in seeing if there's anything I can do to complement my body type. I'll never be highly muscular, but I am naturally flexible and I'm thinking I can work with that somehow.

Or not. I don't really know, hence why I'm here.
>> Anonymous
I like this board too, and I agree with OP. I started at /b/ but it got boring once there were no real posts anymore, just shitty pasta. I guess I'm a bitter oldfag too.

I started to work out a while ago and I think it's great this board is here - the lack of trolling and shitposting and anime is a welcome change and I'd like to stick around. All boards should be like this, it's the way Anon should be.

I agree that a lot of it is the same thing, because of everything said by>>29955but once that stops (read: a sticky) it'll be fine.

I've been on 4chan regularly since last August- though I had come a few times before that... was too much a newfabg to "get it".
I used to mainly browse /b/ /tv/ and /cgl/ but now I mostly come here anymore. I became a tripfag for this board.
>> Anonymous
I was a /b/tard from 2006 to the massive invasion of newfags in 2007, then I migrated to /v/. I also browse /e/ when I'm feeling ronery.

Outside of 4chan I'm just your average, slightly geeky white kid, I guess. I go to /fit/ so I can find about exercises that go beyond "CURLS FOUR DA GURLS".

mainly lurk on /b/ and post on /tv/ sometimes.
i'm female, 28 yrs old, am single and have no life.
i like /fit/ because it keeps me motivated to achieve my goals and stay fit for good. i feel more comfortable posting here than other fitness/diet sites.
>> Juggy !tr.t4dJfuU
About 2 years ago, I discovered /b/. I used to lurk there all the time but I never posted. As it became more popular, and the posts became less and less imaginative and creative, I started visiting less and less.

I've been lifting on and off since high school, though I've never watched my weight and I've never been that serious about it. I didn't have anyone else that was into lifting though, and bodybuilding forums online were too serious for me.

/fit/ is just a bunch of average Joe's trying to better their lives, and I've already learned quite a bit and been exposed to some interesting ideas just from lurking on this board.

I'm not into anime or video games, so I browse /b/ and /fit/. 7chan's /fit/ is one of my favorite boards, so of course this board delivers.

I'm a female. I'm most loyal to /a/ and have been for years, but I also go to /jp/, all hentai boards except /d/, /e/, /an/, /tv/, sometimes /b/. I'm a totally normal girl in person but online I act just like a perverted male otaku.

It seems like there are more girls here because new trials boards like /fit/ and /fa/ are less likely to immediately say things like gb2/kitchen/. Not /jp/, though, because it's made up of migrated /a/ssholes. We females have always been here though, just not announcing our presences so readily because it causes pointless drama.

No idea when when I found this place, just remember it was many years ago and since then I've stuck around for the services that are /h/ and /d/, sometimes /e/. /t/ is nice also.

As for non-porn related boards, don't really visit any regularly. Not into anime like I used to be, and I refuse to visit the cesspool that is /v/ no matter how much I like videogames. Occasionally I'll lurk over on /tv/. Being a sciencefag I poke over at /an/ sometimes as well, but usually leave disappointed by all the cute kitten/puppy threads.

Even though I mostly view 4chan as a place to get animu porns, I do enjoy this board. Eating healthy and improving my fitness has been a big thing for me these past few years, so it's nice to finally have a place here to talk about it.

I've been here over two years.

Since I'm now pushing the top age of /b/'s typical demographic, it's pretty hard watching this younger generation move in. I think they suffer from the dissolving of the influence of our superior early 90's entertainment and concepts. They grew up on increasingly watered down media, and missed out on the earlier establishments of the interwebs and their computer classes were no longer in their larval stages. You can say /b/ was never good, but the phrase has finally become moot in /b/'s current incarnation. Cries of cancer are down, because most Anonymous don't see it that way now.

This is just fitness, but this board reminds me, to an extent, of when /b/ was still diverse, funny, and cancer free. How smug anon once was in knowing that fellow anon was to have bursts of intelligence and entertaining twists, and was capable of impacting the internet in a way that almost seemed to matter. In between modGET's and cockmongling, /b/tv's cult programming gave us insomnia, as its dunce cinematics represented a definitive hive mind. This epic lulz "honk if you hate Scientology" shit-incarnate would have been aborted before anyone heard of it.

These things don't happen on /fit/ of course, but it's been like an early /n/ or something when people were okay with hitting submit on an insightful observation under the guise of Anonymous, expecting nothing in return but similar submissions and ongoing lulz. I sometimes still wander the flatulant halls of /b/ looking for this.

/fit/ seems to have convened a few of the old regulars, or just some sharper people who care about wellness and even though it's probably not going to last, it's been nice having something besides /o/ to visit on a website that once was of some influence to me.

I'll have been here for four years in July. I discovered 4chan via unmod on OCRemix.

I spend most of my time on /v/, /m/, and now, /fa/ and /fit/.

I'm male, have lurked for almost 2 years now, mainly on /a/, /b/ and /v/. So my kind exists here too.

I believe there are two reasons you see more females here:
1. It's easier for a woman to relate to health and fitness than animu and vidya gaems, like you said.
2. The nature of this board makes it often necessary to reveal your gender. A lot of exercise advice will be different depending on the gender, but discussion of entertainment remains pretty much the same regardless of gender.

I came to 4chan after seeing the Tom Green raids.

Took me a bit of lurking to understand every aspect... but I loved every bit of it (getting there was half the fun). I've always been fascinated with sociology and subcultures. After it was all said and done I found myself identifying with the oldfags (the definition of which is still subjective) Of course there were few left at that point... and even fewer now.

I feel that this board somehow draws the spirit of the oldfag.

Been on 4chan for 2 years. I learned about 2ch from my Japanese professor in college. He was an awkward guy. Barely spoke a word of English. Clearly unmarried and hasn't been on a date in years, if ever. You could *tell* that he fapped to freaky shit in his spare time. I liked him a lot. Anyway, he kept dropping memes in class. I didn't understand them (nobody did), so I Googled the memes and learned of 2ch. Then I learned of 4chan.

Used to read /b/ until it became shitty. I've been trolling /v/ for the past year--I've gotten pretty good at it, and have created several shitstorms that have gotten me banned for various lengths of time. I like /fit/, though, and make real posts. Same goes for /r9k/.

I found out about 4chan 3-4 years ago after reading about it on SA. I usually lurk and post on /a/, /b/, /m/, /v/, /co/, /tv/, and /mu/. Most of the new boards have piqued my interest as well.

I visit /fit/ because (1) there's good information on here; (2) you can ask a question and have an answer in a relatively short amount of time.

You might be seeing more girls because it's easier for them to, ummm, be girls on this board. I'm a girl, but on /b/, etc. I'm a man.
Hope that makes sense.

Truth be told I mostly visit 4chan and livejournal most of the day. I have no life. I'm a girl and a furfag. I now collect legos and My Little Pony because of /toy/.

I think I found out about this place from one of the old raspberry heaven sites. Maybe danbooru? It's been a while, I don't remember.

I just came here for the porn, lurking /s/, /d/ and /h/. I was too old for /b/ to have much appeal (wow it's something awful except stupider where do i sign up) and no one on /a/ is really into old school anime. I have, however, been huge into lifting for over a decade and I love any excuse to talk fitness online or elsewhere.

I've posted more in the last couple of weeks than I did in the rest of the time I've been on 4chan. This board seems pretty immune to teenage stupidity and everyone is at least a little encouraging to everyone else.

I lurked around for like two years, only occassionally posting. Most of the times I'm on 4chan it's simply because I have nothing better to do at that moment, which will mostly result in porn. So I frequent /s/, /h/, /d/ and /e/. Of course, also /b/, sometimes it's funny, sometimes interesting.
