Sup /fit/.

I play WR for my high school football team and wish i could be faster. What would be the best way to accomplish this, without losing too much muscle mass but cutting maybe 3-4% body fat?

train like a sprinter would

after googleing that, i came to the conclusion that i must sprint often as well as continue to lift.

Check out HIIT, more specifically a routine called guerrilla cardio, might be what you are looking for.

HIIT.

Duh.

Unless you;re kinda overweight, don't worry about cutting bodyfat, the extra size only helps your game strength.

My advice would be to start using band tension (or chains, bands may be slightly more efective for you, but chains look cooler) exercises in the weight room, they'll increase your explosive power.

You wanna be good at running, you run. Won't fucking help to lift weights or doing faggot shit like "tension bands".

Fucking dumbass, do you know what lifting with bands means?

The idea is to increase the tension at the top of the lift, so you have to build momentum through the lift, making your muscles work at a much faster speed, building power.

Thanks for the advice. Looked it up and did it today, but its basically the same thing as HIIT.

Thanks for the tip but i doubt im going to go out and buy bands.

bands are massive overkill for a HS

at the beginner stage, to get faster, just get fucking stronger + emphasize proper mechanics and footwork during practice

squats mutherfucker, do you speak them?

i am literally wearing the exact same shirt justin is in this vid right now.

Naw, they aren't that overkill, I was doin em in high school.

You don't have to go really heavy, butI think learning it now will be better for later

super, a highschool kid is going to argue w/me on this topic.

'yes' it works, but it is certainly completely unneeded at your level of development.

same exact arguement can be used for steroids as well.

That was me, heh.

I'm not in high school anymore, but I started lifitng around 15, and starting using bands in my senior year, and I wish I had started sooner.

I mean, yeah, don't do it all the time, but it's still useful, it still helps to create explosiveness.

I actually don't like the whole "Your a beginner, start slow", for exercise programs. I mean, you don't have to go heavy, weight wise, but might as well learn how to use bands, so as to get the most effectiveness out of them sooner.

the reason, (im explaining only cuz its you) is because the fantastic adaptability of the human organism to external stresses.

when you move from SHIT to SUCK to OK to GOOD, it becomes exponentially more difficult to achieve said stimulus to advance.

as such, 'saving' some 'tools from the toolbox' to assist with this progress can be very beneficial to the athlete's long term development over the enhance short term gains of using more advanced techniques, but then retarding oneself to future benefit.

you read too much elitefts to not know this...one of their biggest pet peeve's is when people go on and on about band tension for their Circa-Max protocols, only to reveal that their best raw squat is something like 345 @ 240 bw.

Louie facepalm.jpg

you also must question why you are even using the DE method, as you are on this board, meaning you are likely still just SHIT. Do RE or SE instead of DE, as always, keep ME....because WTF is using 60% of anything under 400 going to do?

something i do approve of is chains for all methods. i use doubled up light/mini bands for my max DL work as well. Its fine because it is maximal strength work and the bar speed is crawling. It also helps because I get stuck on the floor, so bands/chains best fit my strength curve the entire way through the lift. 475 @ floor-->575 @ lock

check between your fkn legs before you start using bands, chains and advanced phases
