Hey /b

I'm 18 so im not underage b&. Just recently started only sleeping from about 2:00 Am to 7:00 AM for school. Then when i get home i get between a 1, 2, or 3 hour nap.

Now i'm wondering, since im kinda young to be taken naps everyday, is this unhealthy and will have any negative long lasting affects? Ohh and pic is not me.

a) too bad the pic is not you
b) naps are fine. I likes naps. I nap whenever I have nothing to do. If you're tired, sleep.

HOWEVER, the non-sleeping during the night thing could mess you up a bit.

Dude you probably wont have any long lasting effects but you will feel A LOT better if you just sleep more at night. I used to sleep from 2 to 7 just like you and I used to feel like shit and not have any energy and be irritable but now I go to sleep at around 10 and all that energy in your life is really going to improve every aspect of it. You'll be more motivated to do shit and you'll generally be more happy all around so just go to fucking sleep earlier.

Damn u had me going there for a while.

It's not really normal to pass out at 2am only to wakeup at 7am. If you gave yourself the time, you should be perfectly capable of sleeping 7 to 8 hours.

It does seem like you get your 8 hours of sleep through your night sleep, and your nap, but not getting a good, long night's sleep can have negative long term side effects you should probably be worrying about.

You will need to force yourself not to take those naps. The naps is what prevents you from being able to sleep until 2am in the night.

Secondly, you need to tackle the ACTUAL cause of your insomnia. It can be one of many things:

1) A poor bed or bad sleeping environment (lights? sudden noises? inability to relax?)

2) Stress causes insomnia. If you think you have stress in your life, try to find ways to relieve it. Think about your stress. Are you stressed at school? Did you just start university? Maybe you're in your final year of high school and your marks are most important? Are you having relationship issues (family or S.O)? Most people don't think they have any stress but they do, and don't actually realize it until they really think about it.

3) Depression also causes insomnia. Again, you're the only one who can diagnose if you're experiencing depression but if you are, insomnia is often a sign that goes hand in hand

4) Occasionally it can just be a medical condition where your brain does not produce enough Melotonin (sleep hormone) to get you to fall asleep. That's pretty rare though so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

well i sort of have a mentally handicapped sister.. so all day long sh just moans and runs around and stuff, so it can be quite irritating just being around here (i love my sister but common.. constant noise all day) so its better for me to stay up and get my quiet time.
