/fit/, a few months ago, I tore the meniscus in my left knee. Visits to various doctors, MRIs, and lots of RICE later, I'm pretty convinced I'm gonna have to get surgery on the fucker if I wanna continue being active. My only problem is I live in AMERIKKKA, and will not, for money reasons, be able to get such a medical treatment until probably summertime, at earliest.

Before the injury I ran fairly often, probably somewhere on the manner of four miles or so a day. I've been unable to do such an activity on my knee, however, since the injury.

What sort of aerobic exercise can I do to replace the running as part of my routine, that won't be too hard on the knee?

There are hand powered "bikes" designed for use by the disabled.

Upper body weight training, done with minimal rest periods, can also be used to prevent the total collapse of your body comp.

Thanks. Sounds good, although I don't think I'm up to the investment in special equipment. I will definitely try the second suggestion, though.

elliptical machines are pretty good. also do weight training. building up the thigh muscles helps reduce knee injury

The local Y or other gym will likely have an indoor pool.
