What do you guys do? Mine -was- gymnastics, i've moved onto a mix of Diving / Trampolining. I keep coaching gymnastics though.

In terms of /fit/ness:
How much out of 10?

Kickboxing.

I got to a pretty decent standard in about 8 months (taking silvers and bronze in national semi-contact tournaments) which was pretty good considering my opponents held a lot more experience than me.

Then my instructor pushed me towards full contact to suit my overly powered style. I attended a training session with some of the guys who represent GB on the full contact team and decided it wasn't really for me.

I had the talent to do well but I didn't feel like getting my head knocked around anymore... so I quit.

I still enjoy the confidence boost and the knowledge I picked up training full contact with my coach in the ring. I'd like to go back now that I'm massively stronger and fitter... and dominate in some national competitions, but again, I don't like my brain rattling around my head.

what?

Gymnastics is a damn respectable sport.

Those little guys you see doing iron crosses on the rings... could rip your head off. Gymnastics makes immensely strong people with little more than bodyweight exercises.

OP:
Currently doing diving Nationally.
Novice International competition coming up in Dublin.
September's going to be fun. And Gymnastics, god, I had a dick coach, didn't get anywhere with that. But i'm properly coaching now.

Shut the fuck up ya fat faggot.
When I used to do gymnastics I was pure muscle and insanely flexible.

is probably thinking about American handball, which is an easy mistake to do if you are a culturally isolated cunt.

I stopped taking gymnastics some years back. I fucking regret it now. I loved it.

I might want to discuss the handball=gay thing with you, but first I need to know, do you respect any sport besides weight lifting or whatever?

Climbing + jogging & hitting the gym.

Climbing is an awesome sport tbh, if you are somewhat in shape you should try it.

You have obviously never even done gymnastics.

Climbing is fun, Parkour. BLEGH. Personal opinion!

A lot of people think of gymnastics as a bunch of girls prancing round a spring floor.

The initiated few recognise true gymnasts as being some of the strongest and most flexible people in the world.

Which is why I hate myself for quitting ):

The only reason I quit was because I was the oldest in the class and felt everyone was better than me. I'm such a pansy. ):<

Kyudo and Roadbike, besides lifting.

I'm thinking about starting. It'd be an awesome compliment to heavy lifts I think.

The problem is, there are no proper gymnastics gyms in my area. The one that does exist... is a pansy little girls gym for mat prancing and beam work... no mens gymnastics.

Which means I need to purchase some rings and make some parallettes and buy some matting for my garage and then practice the stuff off of my own back, which I will do.

Boxing, amateur. Didn't stay long, but keep it up in my own way and I love(d) it. Only quit because of inconvenience.

OP:
I quit practising because with maturity came the realisation that I was getting taught by a bumbling halfwit, who only had a tiny grasp of the sport. "u muzt be teh strungs 2 do dis omg. Point ur toez lol."

But, because of that I got a love for acrobatic sports, though i'll admit, even though it was damned basic stuff, it still taught me what fitness balance and flexibility can do.

My flexibility sucks now, my god sucks. IE, Barely past 90 degrees in any splits, despite continuing with diving / Trampolining.

Full contact fighting all the way, baby. I used to be in light contact martial arts, started in Karate, tae kwon do, aikido, the works. I trained a lot of different martial arts and when I got into full contact kickboxing it was a huge eye opener, only real respectable martial arts are FULL CONTACT COMPETETIVE martial arts and MMA is where it's at. It really is a reality check when you get thrown around like I did when I started MMA and thought I'd be toughest hombre with my 5 years of karate and assorted mad skills. Well, my kung fu was weak and now I know better, and I love it, the pure raw physicality of MMA, wrestling, boxing, muay thai is spectacular. Hardest sport on earth. Now I'm working to get into the best shape in my life with healthy diet, weight lifting, MMA & muay thai and I feel great after every workout.

Gymnastics is mad /fit/, IMHO. I wish my parents would've made me take gymnastics instead of soccer when I was 7.

Rowing

In terms of /fit/ness I would have to say 8 or 9 for the level I row at. If 10 was an international rower then I would be much lower.

I've thought about starting again... but I'd just feel so old. I don't know if the place I went teaches beginners gymnastics to teens... and I'd literally have to start all over again.
