Couple questions:

1. What are some good forearm exercises? Currently I do reverse grip barbell curls, but that's it. I need something more.

2. My shoulders wont grow. I haven't been working out for very long, but in the few months that I have been I've noticed growth everywhere but my shoulders. I've tried many different exercises; lateral raise, arnold press, military press, to name a few. I've tried dumbbells, barbells, machines, all of it. I've tried heavy weights and low reps, I've tried going to failure repeatedly with lighter weights, I've tried drop sets. Yet my shoulders never seem to get a good work out. Any tips?

Pic is me last month, don't have a more recent one. I'm fairly happy with my gains so far, I've been working out for maybe 4 months and have put on about 15 pounds and increased all my lifts. I'm nowhere near where I want to be but it's much better than the skin and bones I was before I started working out.

Do more curlz.

Pull ups. Itll help your grip and your shoulders/back/bi's. If that doesnt help your forearms do towel pull ups.

whats your current routine?

I actually just got a pull up bar and will be installing it on the weekend when I borrow my brothers drill, hopefully these will help. Going to google towel pull ups, sounds interesting.

Just hang two towels over the bar and grip those when you do them pull up instead of the bar. These have to be rather large towels otherwise youll rip them.

OP here again, Dead Lifts are already one of my favorite lifts. Doing them I haven't noticed any significant wear on my shoulders or forearms, though. It's mostly a legs and core exercise, isn't it? Cause that's certainly where I feel it the next day

Another question while I'm here: How important is working your abs? I really, really dread ab exercises and I usually end up slacking in that department. Which is weird because I have no problems working my lower back and obliques... I guess I just don't enjoy ab specific exercises because they tend to be body weight movements. Will my body suffer if I stop doing things like crunches? I really don't give a shit about appearance either, so that's not an issue.

i'm the exact same way. i hate crunches and all it's variations. if you can't stand doing bodyweight for crunches, you can always do weighted swiss ball crunches or weighted machine crunches.

usually, squats and deadlifts work your abs pretty well though as long as you keep them tense and stable throught the motions.

it takes a fucking lot to add size to your forearms, they grow really slow compared to other muscles.

don't worry about it; they'll grow eventually if you continue to workout and do lifts for them

This is great, thanks very much. Never really thought of doing wrist curls, for some reason I've always assumed they weren't viable.

I've got one more query for you guys. Is it counter productive to do cardio while trying to build muscle? I have enough trouble as it is eating enough food to put on mass, and the way I see it doing cardio would end up burning the calories which could be going towards my time at the gym. Thanks.

Your shoulders look bigger than your biceps/triceps.
Just keep doing what you are doing?

one handed deadlifts, in which you stop and hold the weight for a certain period of time before dropping it.

That's the idea. One of my goals with weight lifting is a bigger upper body. To me this means a lot of back and shoulder exercises. I certainly work those areas more than things like biceps and triceps, but as I said in the first post, I can never seem to get a good work out. Even though my shoulders are probably worked more than any other body part, they have grown very little over the summer. I've only added a whopping 10 pounds to my shoulder press, for example. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with it. I feel I should have seen much larger gains.
