hello /fit/

Here's my situation:

I'm 18 years old, and standing naked and bare footed, was measured at 158 pounds and a fraction over 6'2

after looking at my frame in a mirror, i've realized that i'm unhappy with my skinny frame. i used to be a fat fuck about 2 years ago. i reduced the number of calories i took in and became a little bit more active and dropped 50 pounds. Now I'm in the opposite situation, and instead of just eating more and putting fat on, I've decided to instead join the gym my dad goes to and try to put on some muscle.
He's been working out for years and knows his stuff (from what I can tell...), but i don't agree with his dieting. He thinks calories are just calories, but I don't want to eat the shit i've cut out for years now. I usually intake about 1500-1700 calories on any given day with food items like wheat bread, brown rice, apples/oranges/carrots/broccoli, sandwiches with lettuce and white meat, fish, eggs every now and then and I'm never hungry, I just eat regularly.
now to the point and TLDR:
When I start working out, I'm going to need to increase the amount of calories I intake if I want to gain any mass, correct? What's the best way of doing this? Will I just be hungrier and my body will take in what's needed, or are there some type of calorie supplements you guys take? Or do you guys just go through food like nothing? I'm not wanting to just gain a more toned physique, I want to put on 20-30+ pounds.
any even barely relevant information is appreciated

basic formula is 2.0 g of protein for every 1 kg of body weight if you're trying to gain muscle mass. the "standard" PCF (protein, carb, fat) ratio is something like 15/30/55, you want something closer to 20-25% of your calorie intake to be protein, with lower fat. if your caloric intake from fats is already lower than 20% however, which it sounds like it might be, raise that to at least 20% or so, much lower is quite unhealthy in general.

make certain you have complete ammino acid chains, I'm sure wikipedia can answer your questions there.

thanks anon, i've never really looked into my pcf ratios. would protein supplements in addition to my diet, with maybe some cheese added in be a good idea? im at a loss as to where I should get some extra fat

I'd trade my skinniness to be able to bench 90 lbs

>no simple carbs, lots of fruits

You realize that fruits are simple carbs, right?

They are high GI carbs, but have a lot of fiber which abates hunger.

The guy fucking said to not eat any simple carbs, then IN THE VERY NEXT STATEMENT TOLD HIM TO EAT LOTS OF A FOOD THAT IS HIGH IN SIMPLE CARBS. I was just pointing out how stupid that was.

I have this same problem, only I can't gain any weight at all. Should I try the peanut-butter trick?

chicken wings and/or chicken thighs is the answer

bake them with spices, or a little sauce
