i want to start weight training but i don't want to get too muscular, how do i stop my muscles growing beyond a certain size?

OP, you have to realize that building muscle takes hours of hard work and committed diet. You don't accidentally slap on 20 pounds of muscle, and get way too huge.

All you need to do is either stop working out so much, or stop eating as much as you would to gain weight.

If you dont increase the weight you are lifting, you wont gain any muscle, so once you reach your ideal physique, stay at the last weight you ended at last workout, and continue to do that to just become toned. You won't gain any more muscle mass, and you wont lose any by doing this. It will get easier and easier so instead of increasing the weight, just do more reps, and you should hold your muscle mass. Also, as other people said just don't eat too much, still have a healthy diet.
