what are some causes of INTENSELY itchy legs? i'm talking about painful itching, scratching until they are red and burning, immensely painful, and still feeling itchy. i've had this problem for a couple years now, seems like it's getting worse. i don't think it's just dry skin because i've tried several moisturizers and none of them do anything. i just tried a new hypoallergenic one a few minutes ago (after a 10+ minute scratching session) and i feel like my legs are on fire. does anyone have ANY ideas?

Well it'd be nice if you were actually able to tell us what's exactly on the skin causing the itch. Do you have visible hives or swelling or ...?

Poison ivy, oak, or sumak. Or food allergies? Spider bites? Bed bugs?

Hey see a fucking doctor.

It could be eczema, or it could even be a fungal infection.

do you shave your legs? does it get worse in the winter? are they dry at all? is it only a section of your legs, or is it the entire leg? when you itch, are there a lot of flakes? you might want to see a doctor.

You fucking any spanish hookers? Because I got a nasty rash on my leg after I picked one up.

no rash, just itching.

i haven't been around poison ivy, etc., for years and years. no known food allergies. i haven't seen a spider in my house in forever.

i don't like going to doctors but i might end up doing that because it's getting to the point of not being able to stand it anymore. and doesn't eczema cause the skin to change in appearance somehow?

i do shave but the problem persists if i stop shaving. it doesn't get worse at any particular time. they aren't dry. it's the entire leg. not lots of flakes when i scratch.

no spanish hookers either...

op again. i understand that in all likelihood it is probably just a stupid allergy to my pants or something, but i was wondering if there were some less obvious causes that anyone had heard of.

Maybe you're allergic to the laundry detergent.

take benadryl regularly for a couple days and see what happens

as far as i remember, it's the same kind i've always used.

oh gawd, benedryl makes me DEAD. i nearly pass out while on it. also, it's probably not a great idea to take it AND my other regular allergy medicine.

Stop scratching. An ounce of restraint is worth a pound in relief in the long run.

It'll keep itching bad if you keep scratching. Have some will power for a few days, and slap some calamine lotion on it. Keep your finger nails trimmed, and when you take a shower, scratch it gently with some anti-bacterial soap. Before you rinse off the soap, change the hot water to cold. Your pores should close with some of the soap inside still. If it still doesn't get better after a week, you really need to see a doctor, no excuses.

:/ do they make hypoallergenic anti-bacterial soap? because most soaps i am allergic to. i've found the only thing i can shower with (that i've tried) is that body wash shower gel stuff.

Don't scratch, don't excessively wash the legs, cover them up in bandages soaked in olive oil for a weekend and then report back to us.

Puritis has many causes, but the frequency and duration of this sounds like constant exposure to an environmental toxin.

Go see the doctor.

I have eczema, and no, it doesn't cause your skin to change (where the fuck did you come up with that?) Go see a doctor. Don't moisturize with anything but pure shea butter, found in health food stores. Stop scratching.

cut them off
