KettleBells, Medicine Balls, Parkour body? Anonymous
Okay so I think I'm going to try to use Kettlebells and medicine balls as well as natural body weight workouts to strengthen core muscles and stabalizers
I'm the parkour body guy.
I want to also combine this with....... Squatz, because I want the burst of energy squatz will provide as well as the balance/stability and knee-joint strengthening.

Does anyone have any routines or tips on using kettlebells and medicine balls?

one more question, should I work out and buff up just for a while [currently 155 lbs m 18] and after gaining some decent muscles with free wieghts, go to the medicine balls and kettlebells?

TY ALOT FOR INPUT.

o.
well still medicine balls are good for agility, balance, endurance, all that shit right?
and what's wrong with kettlebells, i barely know what the fuck theey are.

everything is a tool in the tool box

also, medicine balls are gay, unless you are throwing them all over the place. in general, massively overrated and utilized because they are 'easier' than DL, SQ, SN, or OHP

Kettlebells are like a dumbbell. Only a fuckton more expensive.

Medicine balls are great for are upper-body plyometrics.

They're just weights with a handle on them that throw off the balance of lifting them. Seriously, anything you can do with a kettlebell can done with a dumbbell.

like what?

the load is so little and the task so specific, there is hardly any transfer to ANY activity. they are good for GPP and nothing more, and just throwing a brick-->fetch-->throw brick in a park would be cheaper and just as beneficial.

there is NOTHIGN special about the means of a medicine ball or those silly KBs (and yes, i have them from 35-88...and much regret)

I'm not buying anything man.

jeezus christ this is harder than I thought it would be.

I can stick to a routine, and push through painful muscles, and workout like there's no tomorow
but I can't do shit-fuck-all if I don't know what to actually do.

All I want is an endurable agile balanced body, whatever the fuck it takes as long as it doesn't take over 2 years to see some decent results.

does ANYONE HERE KNOW what I should be doing?
I don't mind bulk, as long as it is totaly efficient and controllable.

this is /fit/, not dragondoor or your personal trainer/AKC/RKC. figure out your own KB fun

You're really cantankerous. I suggest picking up "Jumping Into Plyometrics" by Donald Chu, PhD, it has a lot of different medicine ball throws to learn. And you know as well as I do to increase the load instead dicking around with the little 9 lbers from Sports Authority. I made myself some 20, 40 and 50 lb m-balls from old basketballs, sand, plates from a non-standard weight set, and a metric-fuckton of duck tape.

AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

WHERE IS TEH SPORTS APPLICATION????

the movements (AS I ALREADY SAID) are so novel/specific, there is little to NO sports specific transference of skill

ie. throwing a med ball makes u better at throwing a med ball

not throwing your opponent in judo, not jumping/freeruning betr, not benching better in powerlifting, not blasting your opponent off the line in football, not jerking better in oly lifting.

also, by making it 50lbs versus 8, you have completely changed the nature of the lift, from ballistic to strength-speed to maximal voluntary effort (ie. slow as shit)

the only sport med balls 'kinda help' in are the heavy throwing athletics (shot and hammer), even then, throwing PUDS are much better

so how about you read up on your bondarchuk, zaitchouk, simmons, siff, and zatsiorsky before we get started on the
'application of the means for the preparation of an athlete'

in case it isnt clear, i ask for the 'application' of med ball training (ie. what sport)

because you sure as shit arent going to 'achieve wellness' or 'get big' from playing with them, leaving 'sporting applications' as the only remaining category.

and i'm not saying its bad, its just another 'general' tool to have in the tool box. when i train strongman implements, i do variations of small tire/brick tosses for height and distance a variety of ways, but its more of an indicator than something that 'actually works' as the load and TUT are simply insufficient to incur

The medicine ball is a great tool for boxing...don't know how that's going to help you in running around with your tomfoolery and all, though...

You're smart but dude, you have some serious ADD. I never brought any of those subjects up, nor has anyone else except you. Like you said,

>everything is a tool in the tool box

I just answered OP's question with what he wanted. I know plyometrics is icing on the cake, not a main tool for development. Here's where you lack basic reading comprehension:

Me
>Medicine balls are great for are upper-body plyometrics.
You
>like what?

The statement is that medicine balls are great for upper-body plyometrics. You respond with "like what?" That doesn't make sense. You're reading way to far into what you think people mean. I didn't say "ZOMG MEDASIN BALLZ MAEK U SUPAA GR8 ATHL33T BETTAH THAN O-LIFTZ".

Great, now go fuck yourself I'm hitting the rack.

see, its a semantics thing because you dont realize that a comment like 'its a great plyo work out for the upper body' needs to be QUALIFIED, hence me saying 'WHAT' and FOR WHAT FUNCTION.

ex. you: See object X, its really useful
Me: For what purpose? useful for what?
