Okay, first off, picture unrelated.

Secondly. I'm a pretty overweight guy, and my eating habits aren't great. They're not horrible, just not good. I had a habit where I'd eat about two big meals in a day and snack. I usually would avoid stuffing myself, just until I was comfortably full. Maybe a dessert once in a while. I just wasn't active enough to offset the food I was eating.

Now... Well, I started on nutrisystem, and it's been a big shift to go from two meals a day with snacks, to essentially what is five snack times, and one decent meal (dinner) by comparison to what I was doing before.

The question I'm asking is, what does /fit/ think of nutrisystem? I know at some point I'll go off the diet, and actually eat real portions, and real food in a something probably close to three meals a day if not an extra meal in there (each one being small so as not to go too high in calories). I also know that just eating this diet and staying at least 200 calories under 2000 a day won't be enough to drop all my weight off, but who know, maybe it would? I mean hell, I ate about 3500-4500 calories a day before.

tl;dr- I went on nutrisystem, I want /fit/'s advice. Any advice besides just exercise more?

Why the fuck would you go on a diet system, just fucking make your own diet.

Also "a pretty overweight guy" shouldn't be eating only 1800 calories, that'll catabolize some muscle, unless you REALLY want to drop that shit off quick.

Eating more meals a day increases your metabolism, you should stick to eating six meals a day for the rest of your life. Small meals, not full dinners, unless you decide to bulk later on.

Also if you aren't already, weight-train, and get the fuck off of that shit. It's just digging a hole in your pocket.

ok, OP... if you are a real man, there are 3 options:

1 - make your own diet
2 - "if you can hunt it or pick it, eat it"
3 - V-diet

the above numbers relate to how manly each option is

options 1 and 2 are sustainable, option 3 is a short-term thing

what I did was pretty effective for me, but probably unhealthy.

I ate as little as possible for one week, like 500 cal per day, after the first week my stomach had shrunk and I had much less problems settling into a new eating routine with samller portions than before, sustainable too.
