>>130306 >Taller men are on average paid more and are more successful than shorter men. Taller men also have more opportunities in life. The theorized reasoning behind this is taller people were better nourished growing up, so they're closer to their maximum genetic height potential, and most likely developed more ideally all-around growing up.
But I guess there is an element of implied dominance from significant height difference. Forgetting about your height can make others forget about your predicament as well.
I'm 5' 8". A lot of my friends growing up were second gen asian americans from cambodia, vietnam, china, etc., and I noticed I'd forget how much shorter than me some of them were, depending on their personality. Now I'm in the reverse situation, where damn near every guy I know is at least 4 inches taller than me; I (and apparently they) likewise forget the height difference, and when it comes up (I'm trying to reach for something and have to jump, etc), they get surprised when they re-realize I'm almost a half a foot shorter than them. Then they get surpised again because my maximum jump height is roughly 3 feet (that's actually higher than a lot of pro basketball players, apparently).
My first girlfriend did dump me because I was only an inch taller than her, but it was kind of a telltale sign that she was dumber than I gave her credit for.
