To those of you who have a home gym where do you buy weights? Anyone know where I can get some free weights for cheap?

Tried craigslist but it didn't go well

"Play it again sports" is great if you have one by you. They tend to have a great selection and used weights are only 39 cents a pound.

Do you think they have 40lbs, 45lbs,50 lbs?

I've said this before and I'll say it again.

Go to a hardware store, but a bag of sand (60lbs for 4 dollars) go home, get some plastic bags, fill the sand bags in whatever weights you want, tape em real well so they don't break, and presto! Cheap and useful weights. Yeah they may look ghetto as fuck, but shit works man.

Academy sports on occasion has a weight set, I saw one that was 215 lbs for about $125

only problem with those is that generally they use bars of a specific diameter, so it's a pain to get more weights.

If I could make then with handles and pretty stable I'd probably do it. Any instructions any place? It sounds like it could be a great way to do it.

>PT is supposed to be fun

Wat.

Military seabag or a dufflebag full of 50lb+ of playsand or gravel will make you tough and able to handle realistic weight, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWH5YkMnkDY

Because you have to manhandle the shit and its not a static shape it causes you to get more efficient at handling a changing load so it makes you better at stabilizing and makes your grip hardy as fuck. Otherwise go to sears and buy an olympic set for like 2-300 bucks. Get the shit with rubber coated if you can, http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00615739000P?vName=Fitness+%26+Sports&cName=Strength+Tr
aining&sName=Free+Weights+%26+Dumbells

That is only coated on the edge but you can drop it from deadlift height more than likely without issue. Other than that, get yourself a pair of adjustable dumbbells dont ever buy fixed ones that's just a waste of money. You can realistically create your own dumbbells and buy the plates (go "find" infinite intensity" from Ross Enamait).

Thats actually some of the benefits of using a bag. They move, shift weights, and are hard to grasp so therefore you use more more effort and energy. It's Harder.
