Post-Workout Headaches Anonymous
Anyone get them?

Every time I go to the gym (which at this point is every second day) I get these moderate-to-bad headaches.

They run like clockwork. I workout in the morning, around 8-9. I get home and the headache starts at 2-3 and ends at 6-7.

I've expended a lot of variables that might cause my headaches, changed diet around, more water. So far nothing.

So only the days you work out?

Do you do exercises where you overload your body to the point you feel light headed? (barbell rows, for example)

Aside from diet, have you tried changing eating times and quantities?

Have you tried working out later in the day?

What kind of headache is it? Pressure behind the eyes, forehead, top of your head? Pounding and throbbing or a feeling of pressure?

Have you tried going out for a jog when you start feeling the headache?

I used to get headaches from time to time, and I just played around with all kinds of variables until I figured out it was when I delayed my coffee fix by a half a day or more. It can be lots of things, or just the way you are, but try changing things up. If you change something and then don't get a headache, repeat it to see if it's a fluke or if you're onto something.

More info is needed.

It could be somthing as simple as what you're drinking before/during/after workout or the type of exercise. I know anytime I run I get a headache right above my eyebrow ridge which goes away after a good shower.

Make sure you're breathing correctly when you lift weights. Lifting weights causes your blood pressure to increase temporarily (your body's attempt to rush nutrients to your muscles).

If you don't breathe right, then it could push your blood pressure high enough to cause headaches.

Well, since he's getting headaches much later in the day it's doubtful that that's the case. Your blood pressure sinks after a workout actually and the effect can last a while depending on what exercise you were doing.

Maybe you get headaches from low blood pressure? I've heard of some people having such symptoms from low blood pressure.
