Alright /fit/... I'm in a bit of a predicament. I've recently switched to night shifts at work, so now my eating schedule is even more out of whack. I haven't come up with an exact plan yet how to incorperate an eating schedule with this (being a server, eating is always fucked anyways), but what's been happening is I find myself going to fucking Burger King at around 11pm-12am just to eat something because there's nothing else around. I can't eat during my shift, and when the kitchen closes at work I can't order something from there. I'm sure making my own lunch is the best way to go and will do this soon, but I'm wondering just how bad has the fast food route been going for me.

I'll order a bottled water, a Whopper Jr with no cheese or onion, extra tomato and extra pickle. They put mayo on it. Instead of fries, I get the "apple fries", which is essentually cored and skinned apple slices.

Thoughts?

fast food is the plague that is destroying america

but i suppose one whopper jr isn't going to hurt. i would never touch the stuff, but i guess if you didn't do that daily for a long time you should be fine

How long does that shit keep for? Can you make a bunch of it and just fridge it? Or do you have to just make and use?

Fuck, I actually feel bad for you now.
Working night shift and going to school is just a terrible combo.
I think what you should worry about more is what that god awful nightshift is doing to your body and mind.
In my first semester I was working nightshift just friday and saturday nights and I wasn't feeling normal until tuesday.

If you've been eating proper for a long time and then you go to junk food you might feel a difference at first since you got out of the habit of eating high sodium and high fat foods, but so long as your eating right most of the time and exercising you should be alright.

I've done the night shift route before for years, so the mindfuck/adjustment to that isn't nearly what it could be. I went to morning shifts when I moved because I could, but now I need more money for expenses... thus back to the ole night shifts since it's better money.

This may actually be better for me now because I can probably schedule a better gym attendance.

Methods/steps

1. Put egg yolks into a bowl or jar. Beat for a 1-2 minutes until smooth.
2. Add salt, and lemon juice.
3. Add the oil, a drop at a time, beating even more quickly until the mayonnaise is very thick.
4. You can stop for a minute and add any seasonings, if used, now.
5. Add the rest of the oil, a tablespoon at a time now until finished.
6. Season to taste. Transfer to a covered container and refrigerate.

How many days do work a week and are you a full time student at college or university?

In any case, I'm impressed.

What I'm trying to accomplish is being scheduled for 4 nights a week working (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon)... since those are the best days to be working. I can pick up shifts along the way if I have to. I'm actually taking online courses for AIO, so that should relieve some of the mystery as to "how I do it". They require at least 4 days attendance, which is tracked by posting assignments, participation, ect. I just started school, so it's a bit to juggle, but manageable. I'm considered a part time student. I'll get my associates in Graphic Arts come 2010 and I plan on going for my bachelors.

I fucking hate online studies.
One of my classes I'd taken this way and I had to drop it because I just couldn't be bothered with it most of the time, you really have to be good at motivating yourself for that kind of shit.

Hitting bottom and wanting more for yourself will give you that kind of motivation. Seriously.

>I can't eat during my shift, and when the kitchen closes at work I can't order something from there
So order something before the kitchen closes. I'm sure you have a refrigerator. Make friends with the kitchen staff. Have them make you up a salad with some grilled chicken. I'm sure you have the ingredients for this salad even if it isn't on the menu. you can put a salad in the fridge for hours if you need to and then eat it after work. Problem solved?

Brown bag your dinner, yo!

If the kitchen closes and therefore you cannot keep your food in the fridge, to go Target and buy a $15 insulated lunch bag.

Problem solved.
