ITT, people who have gone through massive body change talk about how it changed the way people treated them.

For me, I noticed I actually get helped when I walk into high-end clothing stores now, instead of having to ask someone who looks anywhere but my direction when I walk in.

What happened to you?

Lots of attention from the opposite sex, due to being able to wear the clothes I love and being comfortable in them. Brimming with confidence, which attracts the opposite sex like mad.

Dunno, I'm not exactly fit, I'm training to join the army(huh) basically running, pushups, pullups, etc, all the stuff to unpussy myself(I am/was a giant pussy) and people just act differently altogether. Skinny fat means you're thinner, and might even look decent with clothing on, but when they come off there is no definition or muscle visible.

I couldn't find an appropriate pic for a guy, but this is the female equivalent. She's skinny, but she's not lean. She's pretty much soft everywhere (not that there's anything wrong with that, if you catch my drift).
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
>>131119

I basically restricted caloric intake in one summer (and I also grew a few inches) to about ~1000 calories or less every day.

Therefore I lost fat, yes, but I also lost important things like lean mass, muscle, and such. My weight and BMI are low for my height, but at 19%BF, I am still very "soft" and chubby.

I have a fairly good sense of fashion and during the winter I look great because of layering, but during summer and months where I can't put on a sweater or long-sleeve shirt, I lose confidence and feel gross because of my manboobs and gut.

This limits me as an actor because of how uncomfortable I feel in certain clothes or without my shirt-- it would be EXTREMELY difficult for me to go on stage without a shirt. I could do it, but I'd be living totally in my mind and wouldn't perform as well as I could.

pic related: it's me last semester with my shirt off. had a peanut butter and jelly fight.

Not at all, haha. I incorrectly said it was summer '05, it was summer '04.

Before recently I didn't want any muscles on my body for some retarded reason that I don't even remember anymore.

THIS SUMMER (and fall, and winter, and next spring, and next summer, so on until end of life) I am starting to lift and do proper exercise and such.

I have begun yet because there is SO MUCH INFORMATION out there it's tough to plan a routine. Mostly because I also had no concept of time management or scheduling before I got to college.

tl;dr: My life story is I "went with the flow" until that attitude bit me in the ass.

Fuckin' seconded. My parents provided me with suitable foods to keep my weight down until the 10th grade when I moved in with my aunt, Mrs. Butterworths. Gained like 50 fucking pounds. Went back home for 6 months, lost about 70lbs. Im on the same situation, losing total of 7st, im 5'10, 18 years old (male). In UK terms i WAS 19st 12lb, im now down to 16st 12lb over the past 3 months. My goal is to be 13st approx. depending on how my body looks, though i wont be posting any of these change collages, i dont want to be reminded of the root of unhappiness throughout my life.

I'm expecting i'll finish by september if i can lose 3-4 stone in that time, my only worry is i will hit a plataeu and stop losing weight and have to increase calories slowly then kick it back into losing weight again.

I basically take 1200 max calories a day, and do around 1 hour cardio, 20 mins weight training and am on a high protein diet. 2 meals a day are replaced by protein based shakes with multi-vitamins taken with each meal, and a healty low calorie meal in the evening.

So far its been good, lost about 18cm on my waist and my thighs, arms, chest and bum are more toned.

Anything wrong with my setup or anything i can do to lose the weight faster?

Dude, 6 small meals a day. Whey protein shakes are good.. fruits.. vegetables... its not that hard.

>> Anonymous

My meals look like this
Meal 1 = lots of egg whites, cheese, salsa, bread
Meal 2 = Casein/Whey Blend, Oats, Olive Oil
Meal 3 = Lean Chicken, Green Beans, Rice
Meal 4 = Protein Blend, Almonds
Meal 5 = Lean Steak, Sweet Potato Chips
Meal 6 = Fat Free Cottage Cheese, Peanut Butter

I eat 3400 calories a day right now and I can lose weight on 2600 calories. How the hell can you not eat more? at 1200 calories you are starving yourself, entering catabalism, losing MUSCLE NOT FAT, and damaging your body/metabolism

>> Anonymous
>>131392

Its like "the recommended dose" imo. You can go under, but they are telling you what is 100% safe, long-term of under 1500 may cause problems.

Its me the 1200 guy btw. I was being bitched at by my dad to increase my exercise from 40 mins cardio to 1 hour cardio so i did it. I know im probably not eating enough and burning too much at the same time, i'll increase it to 1400 a day and see how it goes.
>> Anonymous
>>131402

To each his own, I suppose, but teh science greatly recommends you at least TRY to work up to your normal maintenance intake (minus a few hundred for weight loss). If you're honest about your activity level, then it will improve virtually everything about you and you'll still shed weight.
>> Anonymous
I showed this little girl a picture of me from 2005. She said "it scares me" and honestly had no idea that I was the same person. It was only a difference of ~20 pounds but I also didn't have a sense of personal hygiene back then.
>> Anonymous
>>131392

Unverifiable statistics aside, different people have different metabolisms and medical conditions. Maybe Mr. 1200 calories picked that weight because his metabolism is so shitty it's the lowest sustainable number he can lose weight at. Maybe he has a thyroid problem. Any way you slice it, my point is that there could be a bunch of reasons why it's valid.

I know personally that I used three of the most common caloric formulas available online to calculate my own maintainance level when I started training. The lowest number I got was 2700. When I ate 2700 calories, I was gaining weight. I've had to cut my calories down to 1900 just to begin noticing a reduction in body fat.

tl;dr Different caloric strokes for different folks
>> Anonymous
>>131409

I'm basically doing 1 hour on a cross trainer, 20 mins weight training and sit up's at night. I've been successful so far, can now wear more clothes thats been stuck in my wardrobe collecting dust. I've got too many people telling me different things i.e. the internet, my dad, a woman who sells me the protein shakes etc.. I just ignore her because she generally doesnt know what she is talking about, she got roped into a pyramind scheme, says enough about her.

Should i limit my carbs if im on a protein heavy diet btw? I dont get alot but i usually have a few handfuls of cereal and small amount of carbs in my main meal. Some stupid celebrity said protein & carbs dont work well together on a diet. Then again, she is a celebrity so she is probably talking crap.

How long did you stick with said diets? In order for such high intake to work, your body must have time to acclimate to the new environment it finds itself in. That means that switching cold turkey will result in weight gain until your metabolism speeds up; a slow, progressive increase in intake is ideal.

Well, I basically followed the Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle book written by Tom Venturo.

Dietwise I've been eating 2000 calories a day spread over six meals. I'll post the plan I made with a spreadsheet to give a rough idea, the last slot was usually something like chicken and rice. Drank a lot of water/tea/coffee but no sodas, been using sweetener instead of sugar in hot drinks and am trying to wean off of it..
You could probably do a lot better, I've just had a lot of hassle trying to shoehorn in my meals during work, hence a lot of (brown) bread, ah well.

Exercisewise: twenty minutes jogging/cycling three times a week and followed the weight training guide that was in 7chan /fit/'s FAQ.
I've been slacking a bit as of late because of catching a cold and having my bike stolen and shit so results haven't been as good as they could have been.

I lost an Olsen twin's worth of weight off a 5'8" frame (about 86lbs).

Obviously my life got a whole lot better and people (girls especially) started being nicer, but I think it's more from the improved confidence than the weight.

I was proud of my new body and all, but I was more proud of the work and dedication that went into it. The increased energy made me want to go out and socialize more instead of just mope at home.
>> Anonymous
I went from 105 lbs to 130 lbs.

Skeleton to swimmers body at 5'7". (most weight is in upper body so i look more like 145-150).

Nothing has changed, except people don't pick on me for no reason any more. No women (I don't try, im a misogynist and hate them). And now I can lift things in my construction job.

1,200 is extreme but if the protein is high enough there's probably really nothing wrong with going that low. You don't just "enter catabolism". I know guys who barely eat but they still maintain tons of their muscle mass, but by the popular opinion these guys should look like concentration camp members.

Also, everyone's perception of you changes when you lose weight. It kind of pissed me off at first, but now I'm learning how to control people's perceptions even further through the way that I dress and talk.

I had cheat on sundays, not every sunday, mind you! Only if I really wanted it. Or there was a special occasion (Birthdays etc.)

>> Anonymous
>>131940
me again, i usually cheat friday through sunday, not hardcore binging or anything but do you think this is enough to hinder all progress or do you think it could be something else, one meal a week seems so hard :(
>> Anonymous
>>131895

Yea i worked out how much protein i need to sustain my body, now that its down about 30lb i can re-adjust that figure to sustain muscle, most of it comes from the protein shake, around 25-30g protein in a shake, so i get at least 1/2 of it a day from the shakes, the rest is built up from lean meats. I probably dont get my target of protein a day though as i generally have something low calorie like pasta bake, stir-fry etc.. all around 400-500 calories, so i guess i probably lose a bit of muscle, which is fine as long as it doesnt start to heavily interfere with my weight loss.
>> Anonymous
>>131945
TBH I've been having some naughties during the week, albeit small ones. I doubt I've ever done above 2750 cals a day though aside from twice; easter and my birthday. Probably don't wanna make a habit of all-out loading yourself every week, my cheating was a bowl of ice-cream after sunday dinner. I think... twice a week at the most. If you think you've been eating too much, just add another session of jogging into the week, or don't just accept that your target is a week further away now. A week isn't that long, but they'll add up if you keep cheatin'!

When i lose my weight, and i see that girl who was nasty to me and wouldnt go out with me on the basis of MY weight, i am going to make her cry a fucking tidal wave and hope she kills herself.

Having this anger built up isnt good, but i will steadily release it by being nasty to anyone in school/college who made my life a living fucking hell since 10 years old (im now 18). I have no anger towards strangers or random fat people, just those who made me feel like i would be better off dead.
>> Anonymous
>>131972

It's because then, and only then, it is that you see how pathetic most fat people really are. They bitch and moan about their weight, how they're discriminated against, but they never ever fucking do anything about it. They all want the easy way out, diet pills, running one mile a week, not changing their diet, buying the ab-master pro 9000 and letting it rust in the attic, etc.

Fat people who are fat for no other reason than laziness disgust me to no end.

I've lost 20 kilos(dunno how much that is in lbs) and I'm trying to lose more(Aiming on losing 30-35 kilos before I'm happy)

I've noticed that I get more attention from my friends(girl) girlfriends, and girls in general. Before when we met them at lets say the market, they pretty much ignored me. Now thou, they ask me questions and trying to start conversations with me, ask me to go to their parties and such things. I've also noticed girl 'check me out' and stuff now.

When I was a chubby shit, I got a lot of attention from girls because I was a funny little fucker. I only started to lose it and work out when I realised that I was physically hideous.

Intially, I got a lot of physical attention from girls when I dropped the weight kickboxing... which, being a confused and hapless teenager, I failed to capitalize on.

When I started college, I was already a fairly well built chappy but I wear clothes that mostly conceal my physique. I never draw attention to it other than when girls ask me to. Every now and then one of them will notice the size of my arms and ask me to flex or whatever... but other than that I don't point out my physique.

Maybe if I wore tighter t-shirts in public I'd get more response, but I'd rather gain attraction from pretty girls because of my ability to talk to them.

I've gone through the all the various stages, tall-gangly to fat-flabby to slim-athletic to "powerlifter broad" to the current "buff"-stage.

When I was skinny and fatty I got shit from people, and now when I'm big people apparantly think I'm a few seconds away from ripping them a new one. 10 seconds worth of talking usually clears any confusion up regarding me being anything other than a kindly nerd at heart.

Can't claim I'm seeing much female attention compared to before, but I'm blaming that on the fact that I'm completely fucking blind when it comes to female attention and because I'm a broad-shouldered heavy-walking pissed-off-looking black guy.

Went from skinny to muscular over two-three years. Some girl I hadn't met in the mean time asked me if I had taken steroids (I hadn't), and I don't get picked on or pranked as much.

Growing a beard has the same effect if you have a more manly/handsome face.

Clean shaven you'll look like a pretty boy, and if skinny picked on.

But grow a beard and dress in a few layers and no one bothers you since it adds about 5 years to your visual age.

Thanks, loved reading through his site. He didnt have much fat to lose, so its more of a "skinny to muscles" than "fat to skinny".

pb&j fight guy here

I CAN'T grow a beard and it SUCKS. My father was a babyface at my age, though, but eventually he could grow a nice beard.

When I have a beard I will be flossin' it to everyone.

Hey guys, never been on this board before, it makes a pleasant change from /b/. Anyway, I've spent the last year and a half in recovery from an operation, I've piled on the weight and now I'm 18stone. Got back into proper training last week at the boxing gym every single morning consisting of a run, weight-work and bagwork.

I'm not worried about what my weight is, I'm a rugby player so actually heavier is better so I'm mainly going for the look rather than targeting any particualr weight. I just thought I'd say to Mr 1200 that calorie intake isn't the most important thing. If you exercise a muscle the fat round it will be burned.

One thing I'm worried about and that's saggy skin after it. I know that I can easily stick to a diet and get in shape, but what about my stretch marks and saggy skin leftover from the toning up I'll be doing? I'm 18 so it should tighten up itself shouldn't it?

1200 cals guy here.

Our bodies dont work on the basis of "exercise X muscle will burn fat around X muscle". Fat is generally burned from the last place it was deposited. By your theory you would still have a massive double chin & chubby face at the end of your diet. Though i will say that it can tone the area, giving the impression you are losing a small amount of fat from the area.

Yeah sorry I should have explained it a bit better, I'm just saying it's better to be eating a lot and gaining muscle mass while still losing fat than hardly eating and losing both fat and muscle.

This girl is eating disordered and gets posted in thinspiration communities a lot.

Is it bad that she still motivates me?
>> Anonymous
>>132671
Yes.

But I'm basing that on the fact that horrendously skinny bitches are nasty, and the way that chick lost weight left her with a not-so-tasty bit of loose skin.
>> Anonymous
Talking of loose skin, what's the best way to avoid it?
>> Anonymous
>>132680

Not getting fat in the first place, sadly. Other than that only time will fix it.

Some say that slower weight loss = less loose skin, but I'm pretty sure that is just de-stretching the skin as you lose weight then all after having lost it already.

Taking it slow, eating good, and working out.

Starvation/purging is just too damn fast, and it's fucking far from healthy however you look at it.

So I'm fucked then :P Ah well, I'll just go to my doctor and tell him I'm becoming mentally fucked by it then get it done on the NHS

here, she wrote
"I don't mind at all. I cut down to fewer than 400 calories per day for nine months or so. (Lately I've been eating more, and I know I shouldn't, but, everything got screwy.)

I really, really don't want to recommend eating as I have. It works, yes, but, most people don't deserve the physical and emotional consequences like I do.

I'm 5'5", and around 106lbs."

I get plenty of protein to sustain muscle, though i have no doubt i will be losing some muscle, just not as much if i didnt get enough protein per day to sustain it. I dont think 1200 a day is unhealthy, for one its still on the recommended side by doctors, and i have had no issues with it so far.

Can we please have more transformation stories?

I want to know how the world treated you differently. Not about how many fucking calories you're eating. Not what the best exercise routine is. Fag up some other fitfag's thread.

I was fat most of my life until I got a pretty physical job with my brother a few years ago at 19. I dropped about 45lbs(227-182) in a 18 month period and had some nice muscle tone to go with it. I just mostly cut out fast food, processed sweets, chips, and soda. I also reduced meal portions and tried not to eat anything an hour or two before bed. I originally started that regimen so I could keep up with the pace of the job, not to reap the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, but that changed very quickly...

Once the weight came off my life was flipped upside down. My energy levels were constant throughout the day, I was in a real good mood of the time, I could no longer stomach sitting around the house, and quite a bit of my shyness disappeared. The most shocking result was the massive attention women started showing me. Girls were hitting on me everywhere. I did not have the don juan skills to handle it at first and ended up in quite a bit of trouble(like almost went to prison over vagina). I'm still not a ladies man and never intend on becoming one, but I know better than to chase after any girl who just wants a fuck. I also know better than to eat anything that's put in front of me.
>> noko
Guess I'll have to start a thread like this once I get thin.
(lol, first post on /fit/)
>> Anonymous
>>132950

Dont chase after pre-teens, its never a good idea.

I dont mean to be rude, but 40lb in 18 months isnt alot. If you had changed eating habits and exercised more/used your job as exercise you would have got that in 4 months max. But congrats though, any weight lost is good regardless of how you got there.
>> Margaret
*sigh* I was sure hoping there would be one of these threads going around. I went from being 5' and 200 pounds at the start of freshman year in high school (2003) and now I'm 5'4" and 140 pounds. What a change in how people treat you. You get SO much confidence, you are practically beaming.

I did almost have a funk though, because I lost so much weight so fast that I lost my period for about six months and I knew I was bordering on anorexia. It was pretty scary. This happened in 2005, where I was my lowest at about 125 pounds. I know that is still a healthy weight for me, but I looked absolutely sickly, with no color in my face whatsoever. But yeah. HUGE changes. Those of you who have never been large can never sympathize with those of us who have been large and have been picked on by the rest of our peers. It's not fun, that's for sure. But now, I feel like everyone else and I don't stand out for a change. It's nice. Very nice.

I'm the guy in the picture. The middle is the most recent. I'm actually going through a bulking phase right now. The lowest I got to was 155 and 8 percent body fat, but I felt I was too skinny, so I'm building muscle now. The right one was when I was at my lowest... the lighting in the room really makes me look skinnier than I was though.
