Hey /an/, any idea what kind of insect this is? I've found two of them in my room, and after my initial "holy shit it's a roach" panic, I realized that it doesn't really look like a roach. Pic is the best I could do.

dats a little roach

thats not a roach, it's some beetle, probably a dermestid.

roaches have leathery somewhat translucent wings, that one clearly has the hardened elytra of a beetle

could be a juvenile roach which hasnt molted to get wings yet

no, little roaches have different color wings (see pic), this is a beetle

It's a beetle of some variety that went exploring.

...looks like a black beetle with orange legs, right?

Last summer they'd walk in under the door at my work. I'd find about three a day, some dead, some in need of rescue. :P

Found a picture and name. "Ground Beetle"

Is this what it is? yard to tell from the OP pic.

BAWWWWW.

Anyway, it definitely didn't have exterior wings, which is all that kept me from flipping out and declaring it a roach. Plus, one of them didn't run when I turned the lights on when it was dark, so that don't really indicate it being a roach, either.

But I just wanted clarification that it was just some other beetle, so that I wouldn't have to be paranoid about roaches. Don't think it's a ground beetle, judging by that picture, it was kind of a mottled brown. Both were the same size, maybe a quarter inch?

It looks a lot like the kind of beetle mealworms eventually develop into. At any rate I'm fairly sure it isn't a ground beetle

how about you clean the vermin-filled cesspool you call home
