In before "Burn the ocean!"

How about the squid family Magnapinnidae? Rather newly discovered, it has a tiny body, huge fins, and really really long appendages which unlike all other squid that eight arms and two feeding tentacles, all ten of its appendages are the same.

One of my favorites, this is a predatory deep-sea tunicate (sea squirt) that has evolved a giant cartoonish "mouth" instead of the usual plankton-filter of its relatives. It actually closes over anything that swims inside and begins to digest it. Just a happy, gelatinous mouth growing in the bottom of the sea.

Wasn't sure it was still around, but there you go. Imagequest3d (google it) has a huge archive too but they all have a giant ghostly logo in the center of them.

Its a Giant Isopod. Like a roly poly (wood louse), except it lives in the depths of the ocean. It only gets reposted about twice a week.
