The person's probably going by those glorious un-scientific "statistics." Yeah, the statistics that don't even hold up in a court room will show that huskies bite quite a bit, but the flaw with those statistics is that it all depends on what the bite reporter's idea of a husky/pitbull/insert-your-maligned-breed-here is. Said pitbull could have been a lab mix. Said husky could have been a shepherd mix. Etc.

My mother used to bred Shar-Pei. I grew up around them. They're really sweet dogs.

The only bit of aggression we've ever had was from that chocolate bitch we got from another breeder.

You mean, the animal that is so friendly that it can't guard your house for shit?

They're intimidating, there's no doubt. They're fucking huge and powerful. But I'd trust my kids with them.

My dog completely fails as a guard or watch dog. When unfamiliar people come in, he wags his tail, hops up and licks them. I attribute it to the husky blood in him.

Research was done on reported Siberian or Malamute bites in the last 40 years. The only possibly valid claim was in 1984, and it was a man who was arrested for abuse.

All the reported bites was mixes, and many were not even Malamutes/Siberians.

I did a research paper for college on flawed dog bite statistics in reference to Breed-Specific Legislation. The holes in those stats are fucking EVERYWHERE, yet everyone thinks they're fact-- sometimes even people who work with animals professionally. It's crazy.

Are you kidding me? I got bit by a Malamute in the FACE about a year and a half ago. Certainly was reported, as it was not my dog and I was not abusing it in any way. Flawed statistics are flawed.

A malamute, coupled with curtains, will keep those pesky Anons away from your house.
Will this work with any Spitz-type dog?

The only dog I've been bitten by was a Malamute. Thankfully there was a huge dude in the room who could get the dog off me. Pretty dogs, hard to take care of properly.

Bump to counter the Corgi thread i saw earlier

I love any wolf looking dog.

beautiful, smart, and high energy. escape artists, destructive, and absolutely charming anyways. I'd own one again, if I had a lot of time on my hands.

>>213479Spay/Neuter does not cure aggressivness or "dominance".

I disagree to a certain extent. A lot of aggressive behavior is the direct consequence of rampaging sexual hormones, so the removal of these hormone-producing organs (especially in males) can lessen the degree these behaviors are displayed.

Of course, there are also dogs who are "mean by nature", usually due to abuse in puppyhood or some other environmental factor they were subjected to early on in development.

It really depends.

It's not really that hard to imagine. It's been a part of human history for a while now. In some cultures it's actually pretty big. Read up on Rome sometime...

As for how people first came up with the idea? Think of milk. They see humans lactating and they see calfs drinking from utters... it's not hard to make the next leap.

Same thing goes for dog sex. Some people get lonely, are ultra horny, etc. It's just a natural human function.

I'd love to own one of these dogs. Unfortunately, I don't have the time, money, or space.

Fucking minimum wage.

I feel your pain. My roomie and good friend is allergic to almost every dog he's run into. I would so love a Malamute or White Shepherd
