The first time I fell in love with a Corgi was at a friends house. I was rubbing it\s belly and ear at the same time, it was in a content, leg-twitching state...I eventually stopped on the belly, just rubbing its ear and it was still twitching its leg, very cute.

I'd take a pic of my eight-month-old Pembroke, but I can never get him to stand still long enough!

He's my second Corgi, we had another, born to the same parents as the current one, who was named Ein, but the faggot neighbors pulled out of their garage as we were walking past (Ein was on a leash and all) and ran right over him.

dude holy cunt, did u kill them? i wouldve killed them.

If you live near other people and don't notice a running car and an open garage door, you need a darwin award badly.

I do feel bad about that poor dog that died for your ignorance.

What the hell were you doing so close to your neighbors open garage and running car that you couldn't grab your dog and move?

the tail is a definite plus. Too bad pembrokes don't come with tails.

... or do they?

anyone know if they're cropped?
>> Anonymous
I own 3 pembroke welsh corgis, and can honoestly say, cardigans suck.
>> Anonymous
>>116871

Pembroke with a tail? That would be a Cardigan.
>> Anonymous
>>116873
So you're defending your stance that "Cardigans are teh sux" with "I own three Pembrokes?"

OKAY! I'M COOL WITH THAT.
>> Anonymous
>>116871
"Historically, the Pembroke was a breed with a natural bob tail (very short tail). Due to the advent of docking, the trait was not aggressively pursued, with breeders focusing instead on other characteristics, and the tail artificially shortened if need be. Given that some countries are now banning docking, breeders are again attempting to select for dogs with the genes for natural bob tails."
>> Anonymous
>>116871
cropping is something you do to ears.
the breeders I know rubberband-off the tails at about 3 days old.
you could have a pembroke with one, but it goes against the breed standard -- AKC wouldn't let you show it.
>> Anonymous
>>116877
>Pembroke with a tail? That would be a Cardigan.

No, it wouldn't. While the tail is the biggest noticeable difference between the two breeds, it's not the ONLY difference. Cardigans are bigger, have bigger, more rounded ears, and way different faces. (Card's have a more boxy muzzle, Pem's have a smoother, pointed muzzle.)

Also, Pem's seem to fall into herding behavior (sometimes when you don't want them to) more easily than Card's.
>> Anonymous
I think corgis without tails look nicer. Actually, the corgi is the only breed that I prefer with docked tails. However, I would never have my dog's tail docked just to look nicer or to conform to a breed standard. That's fucking sad and repulsive.

Therefor, cardigan for the win.
>> Anonymous
>>116710
That's a fuckin ugly Pem. Must be from British stock, right? Those things look like giraffes with Down syndrome compared to their cute American counterparts.

It's basically the same as infant circumcision in humans. It's done within a week of birth normally and only causes discomfort for the first 45 minutes the rubberband is on. It's way more humane than cropping.

Now, people that dock after the puppies have their eyes open (and then need scissors and sutures) -- that's messed up.
>> Anonymous
>>116897

I know how both cropping and docking are done, as I have seen both operations performed numerous times. I agree that cropping is the more inhumane, but I am not a big fan of docking either on principle. It is essentially removing a portion of the dog which is helpful to the animal in communication solely for the purpose of looks. I recognize that, at one time, it served a purpose for working animals, but for companion dogs it serves no purpose other than the owner's vanity.

Don't even get me started on circumcision.
