Sup, /an/. I'm going to get my cat spayed tommorow.

But then I thought, maybe I would like to have kitties? Has anyone here got experiences they could share about having a litter of kittens? How high is it on the annoyance meter?

My cat is under 1 year, and she just started mewling for a mate.

Pic possibly related.

Yeah, there aren't enough unwanted animals in need of a good home, MAKE SOME MORE!!! Great idea, OP.

We got my cat fixed when she was 8 weeks old. I wouldn't know.

I do know that the OMG KYOOTE wears off after awhile, and then you're stuck with finding nice, safe homes for the kittens. I don't think it's worth the hassle.

I would keep any presumed kittens, the cat itself was a stray to begin with.

But yeah, let's just make stupid assumptions about posters instead. He must be breeding kittens to torture them, that is the only reason people have yukkuris after all.

You've never been to a shelter. Go there and adopt 3 or 4 kittens.

Your cat could end up having 8 kittens and you're going to keep them all?
wtf are you going to do with that many cats? Are you going to be one of those crazy cat ladies that smells like kitty litter all the time?

to add to that, what happens if something goes wrong during the pregnancy/birthing process? are you prepared to dish out hundreds of dollars if not thousands if something goes wrong?

and if you plan on keeping all of them, do you have enough money to keep up with cat food, litter and other expenses?

if you want kittens, just go the shelter, OP. there are cats that actually need a home.

lol wat

I volunteered at a humane society place once, spent about a few weeks cleaning litter pans and dishes(in the same tub, ewwww)

But yeah, I want kittens, I MUST be a horrible person.

You're not horrible for wanting kittens, but you are horrible for considering something as selfish as putting your cat through the labors of pregnancy and birthing, which are dangerous to both mother and kittens, just because you want some cute pets which could be easily obtained via a shelter or rescue group.. saving lives in the process.

You're better off going and adopting a kitten or two from a shelter.

You save your cat from the possibilities of complications from the pregnancy, stress on the mother from the labor, and possibility of the kittens or mother dying in the labor process.

You won't have to go through the trouble of getting upwards of 8 cats spayed or neutered within a short amount of time. Unless you happen to want to turn your house into a giant breeding colony, and everything smells like piss.

Also you save a cat from becoming another statistic on the pound euthanasia list.

Get one from the pound. You win, your cat wins, and the new cat wins too.

A.) having a young cat with a litter of kittens is a GREAT idea. The odds are in your favor that the mother is too young to have developed maternal instincts it's likely she'll half-pay attention/ignore the litter. Enjoy your box of dead cats!

B.) Kittens are a fuck-ton of cute when little.

C.) Kittens are NOT fuck-ton of cute when they hit that adolescent stage and they tear the FUCK out of everything.

D.) Kitten who refused to be litter-boxed trained are awesome.

E.) Just go buy one (as singular) kitten instead of having a box of dead ones or live ones that you will want to punt the shit out of.

OP here, cat has been spayed. You may return your butts to the non-hurt position.

Why does spaying/neutering make him a better pet owner than someone who does not spay/neuter and will never allow that dog to breed? Our shelter takes a 25$ "Deposit" that they refund when you get the dog spayed or neutered. We just let them keep it like a donation. Our Rat Terrier is happy as can be and so are we.

Well, there's the chance that your pet will get out/another animal could get in and they get it on (before you say LOL WE NEVER LET OUR DOG OUT AND THERE'S NO WAY ANOTHER ANIMAL COULD GET IN - it happens. i work at a vet clinic and I see a lot of owners come in crying about it), and also you put your animal at reproduction system related diseases/cancer.

It's better safe than sorry.

If you don't know the risks of having an unneutered dog, then you shouldn't even own one.
