ITT: tales of comforting pets.

Towards the end of my pregnancy I fell very ill, and would be up all night in pain. My cats, especially Yoshi my b+w cat, stayed up with me all night purring and licking me.

I would call my cats on speakerphone when I was hospitalized after my baby was born, and they would (allegedly) become quite agitated and try to eat the phone, lol.

My baby was in hospital for three and a half months after he was born, and my cats stayed up with me when I would be crying all night worrying he wouldn't make it. They would lick the tears off my face.

tl;dr I don't know what I would do without my kitties. Pic is them.

My mom broke her ankle in three places falling down a hill. Like the hardass old lady she is, she was dragging herself up the stairs and her cat kept following her every step of the way and wouldn't leave her side when she stopped to rest. The cat was the only one there for her at the time until she was able to call an ambulance, and slept curled up by her when she wasn't allowed to get out of bed (he's usually really antisocial).

My dog is more empathetic than most people. Even when I'm not being obvious, he can tell when I'm in a bad mood and gets all obnoxiously lovey. He can also tell when to back off without me needing to say anything. He's usually hyper as hell, but he settles down and curls up next to me when I'm sick. It's probably the only time he stops running around.

also, he is appropriately named Minion. He gives me about 3-5 minutes before the seizure. I couldn't live by myself without him.<3

My cats were a huge source of comfort for me when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. They laid by me constantly when I was recovering from surgery and couldn't lift my head. They kept me warm when I was so hypothyroid that I was constantly cold and confused and could barely move around. The hardest part was when I was radioactive and couldn't let them near me for several days.

<3 my kitties.

I've been having fainting spells lately (still not sure why, I've seen three different doctors so far) and my Tribble does the same thing to me. She'll follow me around really close, sit on me, chew on my ankles, and it's a sign that I need to go lie down before I fall down the stairs or something. She'll lie with me for about half an hour after the feeling passes, and then go back to ignoring me like a git.

Pic related, it's the little douche.

Animals are the strangest things. I wonder how they know what we don't.

RUSH: Folks, do you remember the cat Oscar? That cat in the nursing home that sensed when patients were going to die? He'd get up on their beds and they'd die. Well, Oscar has turned up dead. "Officials at the nursing home would not reveal the cause of death, but they did acknowledge rumors that the cat was growing increasingly unpopular among the patients." Gee, I wonder why! The cat jumps up on your bed, and you die! "One knowledgeable source who agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity confirmed increasing animosity toward Oscar the cat, and a dented bedpan was found near the body of Oscar the cat." I'm sure it jumped up on the bed and a seasoned citizen not ready to cash it in said, "Get off the bed, Oscar!"

When I'm in a sad mood, my dog will always come around and nuzzle me. Then she steals my used tissues and I realize it wasn't that she was trying to cheer me up, she just has a snot fetish and knows when I'm sad I'll have snot rags with me. Fucker.

When I was in kindergarten, I lost one of my purple mittens and was inconsolable. My mom gave me our rabbit to hold so I would feel better. Bunny noticed I was salty from crying and bit me, lol.

I had thyroid cancer 9 years ago, and halfway through me being treated my Dobermann Max died :( my mother bought me a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy and caring for him and training him really gave me hope, and something to do while I was housebound and sick.

No pic on this computer as he lives with my mother now

My cat sleeps on my face when I have a fever. I like to think that he does it to comfort me, but I know it's really because he likes the extra warmth.

I had an absolutely horrible day at work once, and when I took my ferret Fehrago out of her cage to play with her for the night, she immediately started licking my face and hands. It's like she knew I was really upset. Interesting thing is, at the time, she was still being trained not to bite, and normally, I didn't let her near my face. But because I was so upset, i didn't care what abuse she inflicted on me. Nice to know she won't hurt me when I'm already down in the dumps!

How to get free stuff from the internet, like Amazon gift certificates and shit:

Step 1: Install Firefox autoreloader: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115

Step 2: Go to this site: http://tinyurl.com/23rla6
and sign up. Make sure to uncheck the box that lets them send you email offers and garbage.

Step 3: Go to the search page at that site and input any search. (IE: giant flamethrowers for free)

Step 4: Set Firefox to autoreload the page every 5 seconds.

Step 5: ?????

Step 6: Profit! I won a $25 amazon gift certificate in the first 15 minutes. It might take longer, but if you just set it up and leave it every day, you get tons of free shit. (Make sure to check your "My Prizes" page periodically)

My cat hugs me when I cry - she wraps her arms around my neck and rubs her face against mine to wipe the tears away. It's so adorable.
