Name this Bug!!! Gouki
Found it today buried in some cardboard.
Absolutely HUGE beetle.

sorry about the horrible picture quality.. done on a non-focusing phone and it was crawling at a decent clip for a beetle. :) more pics inc.

I'm from South Carolina, I think we have those things here too. Sadly, I'm drawing a blank for the name. Giant stag beetle, maybe?

Female Lucanidae usually have pointy protruding jaws. Not hueg like the males, but usually just longer than the head. Mandibles look too short. I wager it's a large scarabeid, or scarab beetle.

Mandibles are too big for a Bess beetle, and it doesn't look like there's the characteristic horn protruding from the head, even though there are the elytral striations. But can't really tell from the pictures.
