Glue traps are devices of questionable morality used to ensnare and kill rats and mice. They have been banned in a couple countries.

>A 1983 test that evaluated the effectiveness of glue traps found that trapped mice struggling to free themselves would pull out their own hair, exposing bare, raw areas of skin. The mice broke or even bit off their own legs, and the glue caused their eyes to become badly irritated and scarred. After three to five hours in the glue traps, the mice defecated and urinated heavily because of their severe stress and fear, and quickly became covered with their own excrement. Animals whose faces become stuck in the glue slowly suffocate, and all trapped animals are subject to starvation and dehydration. It takes anywhere from three to five days for the mouse to finally die.

Luckily, our friends at Victor® have improved this torturesome device to eliminate all uncomfortable ethical concerns. Introducing the “No See” Glue Trap.

But seriously, what's the point of using torture traps, if you can't stand seeing dead or suffering animals? After all, that's the point of the OP's trap.

Quick and simple death not so bad now eh?

Also, they make a sort of tacky-glue trap under the same line, if you like the little critters living. They're sticky, but if you pour some oil on it and prod a little with a pencil or w/e your mouse/rat will pop off and go about its merry way where you release it.

We used to have little metal boxes with doors where they can enter, but can't get out. They can probably survive a while in those, but we also put poison in there with the bait.

And who the hell cares about rats & mickeys?

It's not as if they'll become extinct or something if we systematically kill those we find at home.

Didn't even knew they had the strenght to free themselves from glue traps. Whenever I caught one, I would cover the whole trap/mouse combo in some old newspaper and crush it quickly under my boot. There you have it, COUP DE FUCKING GRACE.

The "no see" trap does seem kinda cruel. I'm sure there are a lot more humane ways to deal with rats.

But at the end of the day it's not really anything to get upset over. Letting a rat get tortured to death will weigh less on my concience than say, serving up a meal that a rat may have taken a dump in.

Why vegetarianism makes no sense, but animal cruelty is still immoral:

Humans are omnivores. Meat is a natural part of our diet, and humans have eaten meat for thousands of years just as other creatures at the top of the food chain have for hundreds of millions of years before we even existed as a species. To say that my eating meat is immoral is the same as saying when a cat catches a mouse and eats it that it is somehow being immoral. That said, inflicting suffering beyond what is necessary to any living creature is wrong and sadistic and as sentient creatures we have a moral obligation to reduce suffering wherever we can. Yes, our slaughterhouse methods are terrible and inflicts a lot of unnecessary suffering on the animals involved. Yes, I can support someone who does not eat meat for that reason. But get off of your fucking high horse when you tell me that eating a cheeseburger makes me a an evil person, because eating meat is a hell of a lot more natural than that "all natural" amino acid spray you have to put on your salad every day so that you don't whither away.

tl;dr Animal cruelty is wrong, eating meat isn't

She'll be gagged so you can imagine her whimpers are ones of pleasure as I tear and stretch her assfuckhole with 400 degree iron. I'll even lick the tears from the corners of her eyes which are staring at you, begging you to do something to save her useless fucking body.
Of course I'll be kind and put your father's cock in her cunt. He would've already bled out after the penectomy and if he's tougher than that I'd cut the arteries in his thighs to hasten the process.
Each time I cut your family in front of you I'll whisper to them about the useless life they birthed and how I'm going to protect the world from them polluting the gene pool once again.
Little sister? I'll just decapitate her and put the head in your lap so her dead eyes can stare accusingly at you, human filth. I'm crazy but I'm not filth like you, child rapist.
Little brother? I'm going to need someone to live and tell the tale so I'll nut him, take his penis, pull out his adult teeth, cut off the tips of every single one of his fingers and smash his chest with a sledgehammer. Once he's been defanged I'll drop him off in front of the hospital.
Once you've seen enough horrors I'll remove your eyelids, pour solder in your ears and cauterize the leaking wounds on your stumps. Finally I'll blow you, cupping your balls and fingering your prostate. After that's done I'll spit your choad on the corpses of your family.
Now I'll kill you, bullet in the head.

OP here.

My main point was that people obviously have a problem with seeing mousy suffer to death on that type of trap, and the solution of simply putting a roof over the action is very ironic and sad.

Here are some points I'd like to make:

•We have a right to defend our property, even from animals that are guilty of no conscious crime against us. However, because we have the ability to reason and because we recognize the animal’s ability to suffer, we are obligated to take the animal’s welfare into at least minimal consideration. Since we have a huge variety of ways to control rodents, the use of torturesome devices is not justifiable.

•Advocating the use of different mouse traps is by no stretch of the imagination equating animals to humans.

•Despite their popular image, rats and mice are not major sources of disease in the developed world. Avoiding disease is as simple as avoiding consuming (either directly or indirectly) their urine or feces. If you go to CDC.gov and add up all deaths from the most common and deadly rodent diseases in the U.S. (leptospirosis, hantavirus, rat-bite fever, murine typhys, etc.) you'll find that they kill about as many people per year as lightning (10-20). For comparison, hunting accidents kill 177 people and the flu claims 33,000 lives annually.

•The rat and mouse are considered “model organisms” by scientists because their biology and psychology is shockingly similar to our own. They are commonly used to test pain medication and the effects of psychoactive drugs like morphine. They experience pain and pleasure in likely an identical manner to humans and other mammals, as well as basic emotions like depression, joy, and curiosity.
