Tiny terrier sacrifices its life to save five children from pitbulls Anonymous
A plucky foot-high Jack Russell terrier named George saved five New Zealand children from two marauding pitbulls, but was so severely mauled in the fight he had to be destroyed, according to his devastated owner.

George was playing with the group of children as they returned home from buying sweets at a neighborhood shop in the small North Island town of Manaia last Sunday when the two pitbulls appeared and lunged toward them, his owner Allan Gay said.

"George was brave - he took them on and he's not even a foot high," Gay told The Associated Press. "He jumped in on them, he tried to keep them off.

"If it wasn't for George, those kids would have copped it." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=452184&in_page_

There's just something not quite right with that one kid at the back left.

I heard about this last week on the radio.. owning a Jack Russel and knowing how playful, loving and good natured these dogs are this brought a tear to my eye how that poor little dog had to be put down after distracting the pitbulls from the children. :(

That sucks. Poor dog, and I usually hate smaller dogs. This is also doing WONDERS for the pit pull breed.

I'm thinking that dog owners should be required to take their dog for some sort of temperament test once a year. If they pass, good for them. But if not.. I haven't thought of anything yet.

Texan Jerrell Hudman is pictured with his Purple Heart medal from the Vietnam War that he is sending to New Zealand to honour the bravery of heroic dead Jack Russell terrier, George.

Yeah this really does improve the image of the pitbull[/sarcasm]. Anyway what really people really need to do is socialize their pets more instead of keeping them behind a gate or a fence all the time. I know a lot of pitbull owners that have wonderful kind dogs but the majority of pitbulls that you hear about are just simply unsocialized dogs with stupid owners.

Imma train a legion of ferrets especially to search and destroy pesky pitbulls and other vicious dags.

brb trainin

They should do 1 of 2 things:

1: re-legalize dogfighting

2: destroy every last pit bull in every country that hasn't legalized dogfighting.

in b4 and after PETAfags whining about how it's the owner's fault the batshit pit bulls haven't been "socialized properly"

Dangerous pets should be trained. If they aren't, the owners should not have them. It's that simple.

I do think that some breeds are more aggressive than others. However, you're right. I've known or heard of many pit bulls who are great dogs. When you hear about something like this, it is because they were either raised to be mean, or because they weren't socialized properly as you said.

you obviously know shit about pitbulls.

I hope there are lots of treats and toys waiting for you in doggie Heaven, George. You deserve them all.

Anyone else notice the distinct lack of a fifth kid?

Those kids were fucking pussies. They should have curbed those pits.

ALL WE HAVE IS A BIASED STORY FROM A JRT OWNER WHOS DOG GOT IN A FIGHT WITH TWO OTHER DOGS.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT ACTUALLY FUCKING HAPPENED SHUT UP ALL OF YOU

Yeah, this article really puts more shit on pitbulls. ANY dog that has been tied up in a backyard all its life or behind a fence with no human interaction is obviously going to revert back to its natural instinct to defend it's territory. Point is, all dogs need to be socialized and trained or they WILL bite/attack you. Small dogs do this ALL THE TIME. Owners don't ever tell them that its wrong to bite. Thing is, they don't have the jaw strength or size of a pitbull, so they don't do as much damage.

I can tell you this much, if a little shit-head shitzu was the size of a pitbull, it would kill kids all the time.

It makes me sad that they put "Vicious Dog" as a caption under the adorable pitbull yawning. Obviously that isn't the dog that killed the jack russel. LOOK HOW CUTE IT IS!!

every breed of dog can be aggressive if raised improperly. they're animals, people forget that.

pit bulls have a lot of strength, so when they do bite it causes a lot of damage. if a smaller, weaker breed attacked someone (like a jack russel) it would just cause a small wound.

my brother used to have a female pit bull. she would play with my niephew when he was a baby and was very very gentle. when she would play with my brother, she showed her strength because she had been TRAINED to play different ways with different people. if she didn't know you she was timid and submissive. even if she was outside and someone came up to her, she would duck her head and wag her tail.

pic isn't her, it looks like her though...

Pretty much justifies my fear of Pitbulls. Absolutely vicious and disgusting dogs.

Did you read the thread?

you might as well be afraid to cross the street because there's a higher chance that you'll get hit by a car than attacked by a pit bull.
>> Anonymous
Pit bulls can be nice, but like Chows have a tendency towards being aggressive (IMX), pit bulls have a tendency to be skittish. It's just that skittish + strong is a bad combination.

A lot are also poorly trained or abused because lowlifes think they're "tough" dogs and want them vicious as a status symbol.

>>90003
Exactly, their already either inbred or previous generations were, combine that with idiots who don't know how to train or care for a dog, just have it for show, and it's a problem waiting to happen.
>> Doctor ? !yOVYMaY/uQ
Pitbulls were essentially bred for fighting, severe aggression is more or less programmed into their genetic code from years of breeding the most aggressive and violent dogs into the species known as pitbulls.
>> Anonymous
Socialization is not the only problem. People don't realize that some breeds NEED to be played with.

All that energy can turn into aggression.
>> Anonymous
Yeah we got dogs next door to us like that. Overly violent dogs that eat others pets. But its only because the people who own them never do anything with them. It sad to see what could be a wonderful pet and species turn in to a ruthless killer.
>> Anonymous
Not a petafaggot, but pitbulls need to be strictly controlled or entirely outlawed and put extinct.

So. This fifth kid the article talks about... where is it?

I was bitten in the foot as a (10 year old) kid by a pitbull. They had to put him to sleep after I was bit, as he has attacked other neighborhood dogs, but biting me was his first human attack. After 10 years, I still have the scars on my foot, barely noticeable, but still there.

90130 goes to prove that the pitbull was a pussy.

Still, I think ugly agressive dogs should be shot on sight. 'Coz you don't wanna look at them for too long.
>> jB
Fuck that! What ACTUALLY happened: the two pitbulls were like OH NOES THE LITTLE DOG IS ATTACKING! and then the pitbulls risked their lives fighting the little dog in an attempt to save the children! luckily they could distract the terrier long enough for the kids to get away.

There are only four children in the picture. This suggests only four of the five children the jrt helped to escape actually survived.

I think I read somewhere that dogs don't see size differences in dogs, so a chihuahua can boss a great dane around if the chi was there first. Both think they're the same size.

>>90656
Exactly.

My fat little JRT acts like she's a Great Dane all the time, she's told off many dogs taller than her before, yet she's afraid of my cat.
