ITT: Outdoor ponds.

Anyone here got 'em? Post your setup.

What kind of fish are good, other than koi?

Is that a seriously diseased croc or what, OP?

Anyway, I have an outdoor pond, about an acre. It was set up by the previous owner of the house, so I'm not too sure about how the setup worked, but it's mostly stocked with bass and bluegill and we fish them out sometimes (the bass have gotten pretty big).

Damn, that sounds cool. What are the laws concerning stocking of fish? Is anything legal as long as it's on your land?

I know some very rich people who own a pond that they can look into from inside their house.
James Bond like, big glass wall.
They put one of these gars in there.
About a meter long atm.

GAR as fuck!

WTF is up with the huge whole on the top of its head just behind the eye? Also, do I see a piece of log sticking out of the whole? Did the guy fucking jump in there and club it to death or something!? Now thats GAR.

Gator Gar are one of the main species caught through bowfishing, since they normally hang around near the surface of the water.

The hole is probably where the arrow hit the fish.

like anon said: arrow.
Plus probably club. How do you expect to kill such a monster? Poking it won't help.

I'd noodle for it

All of you are going to hate me for this but...

Here's a cool video of a pet Gar, much smaller of course.

There are some fish that has blanket bans if you live near a large body of water, and this differs from state to state, and whatever local government you have: usually these are in the carp family including koi. Not that in reality, you'd want anything from the carp family except a few swordtail goldfish. They are bottom-suckers by nature and tend to turn up the pond silt, as well as shit a lot.

A famly friend has a pond that is basically made by getting a thick tarp to lie over a hole in the ground, then anchoring the tarp with stones. Kept yabbies in it.

My neighbor has a rather large one. It's one of those black, moulded ponds you set in the gro
und. He has Koi, a few turtles, and sometimes even some ducks once in a while.
