My dog has this horrible wound... Anonymous
That it got after the veterinary removed a tumor it got from hitting the door so much. He lost a lot of blood and a good chunk of skin and muscle. The veterinary said the worst has already passed, and that it only needs rest. However, maybe I am too ignorant about this, the veterinary left the wound exposed, that makes me worry out of my skull. The veterinary said my dog will nurse the wounmd by itself, but I have the nagging feeling of looking after him. Is there anything I can do? You can actually see the bone...

My dog... is somewhat brutal. He is a sweet, but has little regard for anything its path.

I hope it's just you that's really stupid and not the vet. Explain to me how an animal gets a tumor from hitting in to a door.

Also, the fact you call your pet "it" half the time says a lot.

dogs in Asia usually arent considered pets

Make sure the wound is clean, feed the dog a lot of protein, check with another vet if it doesn't seem to be healing.

he didint stitch it back up or anything? Did you get his tumor removed in your neighbors shed?

a photo would help. Take it to a different vet. Even small cuts, if deep enough, need to be stitched up. I've NEVER heard of any physician removing a tumor without stitching it up.

In many countries, like in Finland, pets are called "it", even though it would be a very loved one. Hell, we call people "it" too...

What size is the wound? If it isn't oo big, it propably WILL heal, but yeah, sound pretty odd to me for a vet to not stitch it.

Also, the door-hitting-tumor sounds weird. Is your dog a rottie? I's guess so from the pic. I had a rottie, but she died last winter. She had a tumor pressing into her spine, and she paralyzed. Rotties often get tumors. I hope your doggie is doing better.

Most people in the world would call a Finn, "it", so that doesn't surprise me.

What do I care. We are all animals after all. Maybe Finns are even more animals than some fat amercans, and good for us.

However, I wouldn't want to turn this into a converstation about wether americans or swedish people are even animals or not, so..

It sounds a pretty serious kind of wound to me, if you say he lost a lot of skin too. Could you specify the tumor-thing a bit?

queloids are benign soft tissue tumors that basically are made of scar tissue overgrowth, if it was a queloid stitching will make another one, possibly bigger due to the added trauma of removing the previous one , leaving the wound open will cause it to grow a flat scar, and if it quelates again then the tumor can be shaved flat instead of having to open the dog again
