Who else owns one?

I want one so bad, but they're illegal to have in my state I think..

That's too bad. They're neat. Very funny, though mine is a bit of a jerk at times. Likes to bite before he looks. But he's funny as hell.

Just picked up one of these things last night. God damn it's boring, hasn't moved an inch and whenever I try to touch it, it balls up and makes sounds like a coffee maker. Seriously, I have sea urchins and peppermint shrimp that show more affection and do more in a day than this emotionally devoid animal.

I have heard that they stink, is this true?

Ok, so I've had this thing for 3 days now and have decided to name it "Stabby McFuckYou" after it's sweet disposition. By sweet disposition I of course mean it curls up into a ball of fuck you spikes and hisses and pops like a coffee maker whenever you even think of touching it. >:(

you just fucking got the thing. give it a chance to warm up, you dumbass. its like a adopting a child, it isn't going to call you mom or dad unless it gets used to you.

Aren't these difficult to handle when they actuall age? D:

it depends on how much you play with them and how much they grow to trust you.

I've had three hedgehogs, one I got when it was about a year old, one I got when it was about 7 months or so, and one when it was about 4-5 months old. None of them had been properly handled and socialized, so at first they were all very wary and rolled into a ball all the time. They all ended up calming down once they got used to me, but the oldest two still never trusted me enough to touch their face too much or make any major sudden movements. They youngest though, since I had gotten it when it was just a baby, has complete trust in me, and is now a little over a year old. I can touch her face, her stomach, anywhere and she won't even raise a quill. The older ones take a little more time, but it isn't a hopeless case.

Try putting a recently worn tshirt in the cage with the hedgie. It will probably sleep in it and in turn get used to your sent. You'll find that after a week of doing this the hedgie will probably be a lot more trusting of you.

and no that isn't a third eye xD Hedgehogs have a thing like a reverse mohawk that runs from the top of their head to a little bit down their neck. It helps them roll into a ball more easily and pull the quills over their face a bit better.
