What kind of spider was this? a spider
There's a spider on my porch.

It's still, under one of the wall shingles. It's light-ash colored, and it spun a thick web the color of its own body. It is now hiding under the web (it's a very, very small web, not unlike when you were a kid and made a small fort out of one of your mom's knit blankets).

Does anyone know what kind of spider I saw?

Picture unrelated. These are just two spiders enjoying a bout of hot, steamy, homoerotic fellatio on a SFW board.

Where do you live? There are hundreds if not thousands of brownish grey spiders that build a web and then hide under it.

Oh, and your picture is not homoerotic.

I'm pretty sure those aren't gay spiders, because not only do they look nothing alike, but I'm not getting an erection.

On a serious note, please let us know where you live and what size the spider was, as in, some kind of measurement. Size of a dime, smaller than a pencil eraser, etc, are better than "very small".

Washington state.

I couldn't really see its leg-span too well, but I'd guess maybe that of slightly smaller than the radius of a silver dollar.

Well, going by the abundance of information, I will alert you that you have a hobo/brown recluse hybrid. Commence brick shitting.
