I think I might own a wolf o.o;

what you think?
>> Anonymous
does it act like a wolf?

you could just have a long haired german shepherd mix.
>> Anonymous
that is what i thought, shes a lazy bum most of the time. she howls like a wolf sometimes o.o. very nice though
>> Anonymous
Can she perform complex abstract cognitive tasks, wherein she realizes that you as human have a differing set of abilities and can extrapolate a course of action based on those abilities? If so, it is a dog.
>> Anonymous
sure
>> Anonymous
hey uh you know

dogs basically are wolves

just don't go whippin' it with a hickory switch
>> Anonymous
just dont want her to realize shes a wolf one day and eat my throat out in the middle of the night. mainly just curious though...
>> Anonymous

It def does look that way for sure.

Wolves are just dogs anyway.

Wolves are not 'just dogs'. Dogs have been breed for thousands of years to act very differently than wolves, and they have a smaller brain than a wolf because they have lost the portions of their brains used for mapping territories and have gained new cognitive abilities to learn and adapt to humans. Wolves act very differently than dogs and you would know if you had a wolf, unless you just got the dog. Your dog looks like it could be part wolf, but its probably a very low percentage.
It also could be a husky or malamute/german shepherd.
>> Anonymous
figured it was malamute/german shepherd. has a black spotted tongue too if that helps any.

Obviously it is a wolf that has infiltrated you and your family. Probably a spy for Anonymous.
>> Anonymous

They're both cute.
>> Anonymous
oh nos!

How old is she? Where did you get her? How long have you had her?

I've heard that dog/wolf hybrids tend to be more or less "tame" until they get about a year old, then they get aggressive. Confirm/deny?
>> Anonymous
got her less then a year ago at pound and she is about 2 and a half years old so i would have to deny that theory if she is a wolf hybrid
>> Anonymous

My friend has a pair of high percent hybrids (in fact, their mother was full timber and their father was perhaps %98 wolf) and they were kept in the house until about their first birthday. They didn't become aggressive actually, they just were too large and too wild to be kept in a home. They could easily step up onto the kitchen counter and raid the cabinets, dismantle the furniture, and shred doors. It's rather difficult to discourage these behaviors (as anyone who's had a wild animal knows), and they thrived far better in a more naturalistic enclosure.

Probably not, or she's a low percentage. Most likely a shepherd or spitz mix that ended up with a wolf-gray coat. The blue-black spotting on the tongue shows up in lots of mixes, so that's not surprising and doesn't necessarily mean anything.
>> Anonymous
she has gotten up on the kitchen counter once and she used to chew everything, still does somewhat but with some training and precautions shes been good

Reverse that. Dogs are a subspecies of wolf.
>> Anonymous
Well, what color eyes does your dog have? If they're yellow, then chances are she's part wolf. Looking at her she's a fairly good percentage, I'd put her at about 40-50 percent, but probably an F2 or F3, meaning pure grandparent or great-grandparent, so she's not that close to the wolf then.

As for the getting vicious?

Old. Wives. Tale.

Wolves are not vicious killers, stop reading Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs and pick up a book written by David L. Mech you epic tards.

If a wolf-cross is properly socialized then they'd be a member of the family, something more than a simple pet.

Just properly socializing one is hard if you have no idea what the hell you're doing, and you tards basically don't.

oh lawd is dat sum wuff?

My fiancee and I would like to buy your dog. How much?
>> sage
sage for docking.
>> Anonymous
Definately a hybrid.

>>174201
Dogs are only very remotely like wolves. Do your research.

>>174203
She's probably really submissive and timid. She will never attack you.

>>174339
You might have problems with wolfdogs if they're not socialized right, but she's not gonna turn mean or anything.

Also, she looks more like some kind of collie mix, rather than shepherd. She has a pretty low percentage, but I'd say she's a hybrid.
>> wolfies Anonymous
hybrids are common, it looks like your dog inherited a lot of wolf traits from one of his/her parents. it's not uncommon, and i don't think you need to worry a whole lot about it. your dog definitely has wolf blood in him/her. a lot of states have regulations on the selling of hybrids(over 76% wolf) or wolfdogs(75% or under wolf). If your dog behaves well i don't think it's much of an issue either. Wolves are not as vicious as some people make them out to be. if anything you should feel lucky you have a rare breed =)

oh god, the wolfdog furries are coming out of the woodwork! Wolfdogs are a bad idea, period. Many wildlife groups and animal professionals are trying to outlaw wolfdogs because New Age hippies and assholes keep breeding these hybrids and selling them to dumbasses who don't realize that a wolfdog is practically a wild animal.

that's not the only reason they shouldn't be bred..
BUT NONE OF YOUR DUMB ASSES EVER LISTEN TO ME WHEN I TELL YOU WHY OVER AND OVER. assholes.
