The blue and white rat in this picture was five when she died (and would have been even older, but she got tumours and I put her down). The tan and white was four when she died.

I had a hairless male for three years. His previous owner had him for two years. He was fully grown when that person got him, and he'd passed through at least three other people before that, so his full age is impossible to know.

Rats can live to be very old when well loved and taken care of. In general, expect a rat to live 1.5-4 years, but you can get 5-7 out of them if you try.
