I'm caring for a baby one at the moment. Give it lots of attention, and enough space when they're babies to run around. They are messy and like to poop in their water. I suggest a large sized carrier case indoors with towels and a heating pad under th carrier. You have to cut it's food up where they have edges (they have a hard time chewing rounded foods like apples and grapes). When they get larger, you need a big pond with running water or a heated pool with a fence around it. A large amount of space is required. If you live in a cold climate, i wouldn't suggest having one, unless it's kept indoors. Otherwise, it's like having a huge guinea pig that's really mellow.
