>>47378there's always going to be a dominant animal [especially if it's a male], and one unlucky submissive animal who ends up bullied and eventually dies from the stress.
This happened with my anoles, I had six of them. There was an alpha male, called "Matey Boy", the beta male if there is such a thing, called "Strongbow", and the rest to whom we just assigned numbers.
His reign of terror, in which he did nothing but chase all the other anoles around and beat them up, lasted about two years. During that time, two of our anoles had a baby, which is fairly rare for anoles not in their natural habitat (according to our local pet shop geezer). We kept it in its own enclosure, but my moronic brother put the baby back in the main tank, and Matey Boy bit the poor thing's head off.
Matey Boy was the last to die... we couldn't tell that he was dead at first, because he didn't really move around that much anyway, but now he was completely still. But he just sat there in this intimidating, almost defiant pose, right in the centre of the tank, right in the centre of central twig. He slowly turned from green to brown and finally black, which is probably the colour at which Green Anoles crimp their soul out.
I'm pretty sure he was sent here from hell.
