Yes, you may eat both. Humans are omnivores, after all.

People who place animals on a pedestal and act like a fucking cow's life is worth as much as a human's piss me off.

Oh Jesus Christ. Look, I will never kill an animal other than a fish or insect, unless it is in harm- However, the death of animals, including human beings, is essential to life. Now, I will support the meat industries by buying their product which is essential to a healthy life, until the day I die.

And for you fuckers who come in saying it's an "inhumane" death, fuck off. When a cheetah snaps the neck of an antelope, that creature suffers in a paralyzed state of shock for a long time. When you take a chainsaw to a cows head, yes there is more to clean up, but God damn it's a fast death.

Fuck you all, and yes- I do love animals, but more importantly I love the cycle of nature.

People have every right by nature to eat meat - it's how the animal is killed that's worth discussing.

I must confess though; even if dogs/cats were killed humanely for mass consumption, which never happens, it would still make me sick.

There was Australian "Eat Red Meat" propaganda that (almost) said that. I think it claimed that we would not exist had we not eaten it.

Vegan and strict vegetarian diets harm children, which is proof enough that its not natural.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4282257.stm

people make me sick, they are the product of a secure well fed society, not very smart, and lose perspective on natural order and biology... like how herbivores have more than one stomach to process plant material

Some people are vegetarians and vegans and I'm fine with that, what I'm NOT fine with is this fucking morality crusade that these super-vegans think they should go on to spread the word and make omnivores look like fucking demons.
>> Anonymous
Vegans and alot of Vegitarians are no fucking better then hardline religious fundies. You just HAVE to push your views(yes, YOUR views)on everyone else. And if they don't like it, you'll call them names, throw buckets of paint at them, and complain in all your ashy skinned, anemic assed glory.

I figured it out... Soylent green was made of vegans/vegitarians! It was the only way to shut them the fuck up!

This. I have a vegetarian friend who is cool about her omnivore friends. She never presses her views on people and isn't the type of person that "omg, can't stand to be around meat eaters!" She's how vegetarians should be.

Yes, you CAN choose your eating choices but remember that it's your choice. Persecuting others for what they choose to do is walking around blind.

-Your digesting system can cope with meat.
-Your body needs the important nutrients of meat.
-You can eat meat and don't even need to kill the animal yourself.
-You are on the last position of the food chain and omnivorous, thus giving you the right to eat meat.
-Meat tastes fucking good. Your sense of taste is adapted to meat.

->Don't be a sissy and eat it.

Pressing opinions when you are dealing with morality and abstraction sucks. Thats the domain of religion.

But pressing opinions when you are dealing with physical boundries is our condition, you cant escape that. You can`t say "hey, you are vegan, thats your opinion but you gotta respect mine", because your actions are affecting other living beings in the most basic ways. People have to be confronted about that, it's not zealotry, it's ethics

If we were to stop all meat consumption now we would horribly throw off the balance we've created, alot of these animnals wouldnt have many predators then and overppulation ensues also increase in methane production eithger way the animals would have to be exterminated one way or the other. I dont support how animmals are euthanized for consumption and feel they need a better less painful way to go, but still man is omnivorous we need meat to survive essential (sure u can survive off vegan but you also lack some of the supplementary vitamins and minerals and fats needed for a healthier lifestyle. Im not saying go outblown eating meat but still it's necessary).

Yes, all herbivores have no brains. Over 70% of the human brain is fat, "propaganda boy." Also, eggs and some mushrooms are almost bursting with protein.
There are professional athletes that are strict vegetarians. If you do it right, you can live very well without meat. Also - if you live on meat alone, you will die a very early death.

>>250294"And for you fuckers who come in saying it's an "inhumane" death, fuck off. When a cheetah snaps the neck of ......"

Nature gave us the right to eat meat. Nature gave predators the right to eat meat. Death is not fun, but it's part of nature.
Having said that; I think you're a dickhead.
*No-one* gave us the right to intentionally disrespect, torture, maim or hurt others. Whether one decides to eat meat or not is perfectly fine and their own decision to make. When someone supports cruel methods of slaughter or takes part in them - IT IS NOT FINE!
We as humans know better and are able to kill and treat MEAT animals HUMANELY. Because we know better, it is our duty to *do* better.
It is not only meat that helped us evolve, but more importantly the ability to empathize. So, when someone is unable to feel empathy for a creature or any kind of respect, they are not only known as "sociopaths", they also lack the most important thing that makes us human and allows us to live (more or less) as a society. When even "lower" mammals are able to show empathy, it is pretty pathetic when a human can't.

Plenty are. I don't know about cat, but I would be willing to try dog, provided I knew where it was from and how it was slaughtered, and that I approved of both.

I'll try rat too, I hear they're somewhere between chicken and duck.
>> Anonymous
>>250471Over 70% of the human brain is fat

lrn2neuroanatomy.

Cell membranes are made of, among other things, fatty acid chains. Myelin, the insulating material around most axons and what gives fibers their characteristic white color, hence "white matter", is fatty in its chemistry. It's not adipose tissue, though.
>> Barksalot !!bUy38Am5hmk
>>250476
I like to think that if people can't stop eating dogs, they will at least treat/kill them humanely - but I have not seen the evidence of this occurring.

>>250477
I knew someone would point that out. At least we now agree that the brains are not made out of protein.
>> Anonymous
Oh noez don't eat meat it's so cruel!!!

I bet you still buy your clothes from H&M.

I'd love to say that I'll stop eating meat but I just don't feel bad about doing it. I don't care how much vegans and vegetarians argue with me, I just don't feel bad about eating me. I don't think the thing that is holding society back is that we still eat meat, I don't think freeing up pasture for farming will solve world hunger, and I don't think any significant portion of the world is ready to just eat vegetables and pop pills for what is missing from a vegetable only diet.

Hell, I can't even watch a TV show every week much less take a bunch of pills to fill in the gaps in my diet every single day...
>> Barksalot !!bUy38Am5hmk
>>250493"I'd love to say that I'll stop eating meat but I just don't feel bad about doing it."
I don't think you really need to feel bad if modern and sensible law-abiding methods are used. You should expect this (as well as a high standard of quality) from your meat supplier though, and maybe even inform yourself and shop around so you don't support cruelty through ignorance. That would be better.

>"pop pills for what is missing from a vegetable only diet."
Nonsense. A sensible vegetarian diet requires no pills.

For a short while I had a friend who was Vegan/Straightedge.

I remember her getting rabidly angry about it and pressing it on everyone, and didn't believe me when I said she was being nonsensical.

I got her to admit she would rather a woman be murdered than let her cook an egg. She did not find this to be nonsensical because "humans are evil, cruel creatures. Animals are innocent"

When she turned Christian she pressed the fact that Jesus was, in fact, also Vegan.

"Now see the part where it says he broke fish and fed people, that was actually a mistranslation, it's fishweed which was a popular type of edible seaweed at the time"

I opened her book and pointed to the part where the resurrected Christ approaches his buddies and says "do you have any meat?" and then proceeds to eat it.

She got all offended, "I'M GONNA FIND THE REAL TRANSLATION" and ran off. I never heard back from her on it.
