So, my cat is roughly 11 years old, and she's got the diabeetus. She has a hard time eating solid food, but doesn't like the soft cat food either. I was wondering what /an/ thought would be some good alternatives to cat food for her?

I was thinking chicken stock, or something along those lines. It would be easier for her to get down, but I don't really know how healthy it would be for her compared to her normal diet of Meow Mix.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

A cat can't live off a liquid diet and chicken stock isn't going to deliver very good nutrition in relation to the sodium.
Could you soften the hard food, if she likes it? Maybe soak it in some watered down broth?

That's not a bad idea. Generally, when she has solid food(not necessarily Meow Mix), she either just licks it or doesn't chew. I'll try softening it in broth and she if she likes it. Thanks.

kill cat, put in a recycle bin, the most clearly labeled it is the better

if you're going to use store bought chicken stock, get a low sodium kind, the regular stuff has a shit load of salt even by human standards, can't be healthy for a cat.

Your cat has diabeetus, and you have her on Meow Mix??

Royal Canin makes a diabetic specific cat food, perhaps you should look into that. Might help your furball feel a little better.

My dad feeds her, and we have her on insulin 2x a day.

I had another thought regarding chicken stock/broth: What about a low sodium, low sugar chicken soup? I keep going back to chicken because she likes it a lot more than her Meow Mix, and it would be easier to chew.

It wouldn't be her regular diet, maybe one can every other day, with softened cat food in between?

That's not a bad idea, I think I will look into it. She's really picky(mostly beacuse my sister & my dad's ex used to spoil her with people food), and doesn't respond well to most cat foods.
