I stopped watching dog shows because the same fucking dogs always win. Usually a terrier. The basset hound never wins shit.

The min poodle snapped at the judge. I lol'd. LOTS of bad showing tonight, but damned if that standard poodle didn't nail it. Would've liked to see that bitchin'rad shar pei win though.

I missed the poodle snapping but it looked like the beauceron did it too. I loved the French bulldog just kind of sitting down in the middle of its run.

Oh yeah, there was no way that dog was winning. It was really good though, if it had behaved itself it should have gotten in the top 4. No clue how that shit dalmatian got in, it had fucking stripes and its mouth was fucked up.

And that beagle was beautiful.. but it doesn't hunt. It has zero prey drive. Its breeders seem PROUD of the fact that their dog is a shit beagle. I feel really bad that it will probably sire a ton of puppies which will conform but have no hunting ability.

it was good tonight. the beagle, uno, won. anyone got pics of that dog?

Why the poodle hate? I have a standard and I can vouch that under all that hair they're still all dog. Personally, I feel that the standard should be in the sporting group and they should deemphasize the focus on clips. If the american cocker is in the sporting group (in three varieties no less), there is no reason the poodle shouldn't be. Of course, getting anything changed with the AKC is like drilling a hole in your head.

Thank you, fuck. Poodles are wonderful dogs.
Do some research before you faggots decide their fur somehow naturally grows in giant balls, and they're dumb/undeserving (sorry, most show poodles are just really good at fitting the standard.)
I'd kill to see sporting-cut, standard poodles in the ring. The prancing gate looks less FAGGOT and more graceful when the dog doesn't look like marshmallows on a stick.

Poodles, like terriers, are simply really great in the ring. It's part of their personality. They tend to be flashy and dynamic, which gives them that extra edge in what is, at it's roots, a subjective contest. Most of the dogs competing at that level are already the near epitome of the standard, and it often takes a dash a showmanship to give them that edge and make them standout. That doesn't make poodles any better or worse then any other dog in the show ring or anywhere else. All that flash couldn't beat a charming beagle with big bark, or a springer the year before.

Hate the haircut, not the dog. It wasn't their idea and I'm sure when they take a break from the ring they're trimmed just like any other pet poodle.

man i totally saw the beaucercon snap at the judge, he didnt even touch him after.... nice breeding there!!!

Thing is, its part of their personality that they do that. If you listened to the announcers (admittedly, they fucked up a lot tonight. Different coats on berners? uh no), he was explaining their agression. So.. its not "nice breeding!" its "nice training!". Even though it was a good dog, it couldn't win because it didn't have good manners.

On the poodle subject: The standard was fucking win. The coat is retarded. It is to look cool, NOT do what they commonly claim it does (uh thats not where the dogs kidneys are, dumbass). Puppycut poodles are awesome. Miniature poodles are tolerable, but toy poodles? No thanks.

True, the type you seen in jr show dogs, Puppy clips are a pain in the ass to maintain, more so even then the standard show clips. The average sporting or kennel clip tends to be short enough to prevent easy tangling but long enough to still give that poodle appearance. I groom my own standard in a lamb clip, which is a good balance between the fluffy and functional.

As a groomer I'm also quick to defend Toy Poodles, as they are typically some of the easiest dogs I work with outside of shaving their feet (I've never met a dog that liked it's feet shaved or clipped, just some that tolerate it better then others).

Nah, I know. Poodles are actually great dogs, I just hate that haircut so damn much. I feel the same way about Lowchens. And I'm a retard about dogs, but even I'm not retarded enough to think the poodle cut naturally grows that way.
