Dear /an/,

I am finally setting forth plans to move out of my dormitory and get my own place in my town, which means I'll finally be able to keep a pet that isn't a fish (Not that I have big issues with fish, they just happen to die a lot under my care). I was planning on retrieving my dog, who is currently staying with my mother, however in the time I've been gone he's attached himself to her dog as his companion. That in mind, I can't take him from my mother's home.

I've come to the conclusion that if I want a pet when I move out, I'll have to settle for something that isn't my old dog. Currently, I'm considering the following:
- Another Dog (Corgi or Eskie)
- A Cat
- A Ferret
- A Hermit Crab

Which do you think I should go with?

A cat is fine, too.

A cat, definetely. Ferrets and dogs are way less independent, which means they need more attention. Hermit crabs are just boring. Properly raised cats however give you love and affection in return of yours while not hanging from you sleeve or are needed to take outside at morning in the rain.

You should definitely get a dog. Buying a cat will just turn you into a screaming faggot in no time, and the toxoplasmosis you'll get will make you want more of the filthy little shits.

Oh, and shitbox. Never forget the shitbox.

If you're going to be home a lot and you can give a dog the attention it needs, get a dog.

If you're going to be out a lot and you need something more independent, get a cat.

Yeah, the problem with this is some cats want a lot of attention and will go neurotic if left alone too much, and not all dogs want to cuddle. Ferrets are fun but high maintenance and you absolutely have to do your reading or you won't understand the weird shit they do (like ferret death sleep). Your best choice will be the boring but predictable crab.

Or a rat. Rats are nice.

Cat or rats. Letting a dog out to take a shit is a pain, litterboxes/cage cleaning aren't that bad. And if you're a lazy fat fuck like most of 4chan, you wouldn't want to take your dog on walks.

Cat or Chinchilla. Chins are MUCH better than ferrets.

Ferrets or rats, absolutely.

Eskies: Bark until you want to shoot them.
Corgis: Lack legs.

Get a cat, if those are your options.

Get two cats.

I think you know what to do.

Get whatever.
BUT NAME IT BISCUIT!

Okay, I get the cat and the dogs called Biscuit, even the bird called Biscuit, but four children named Biscuit? I thought it was what you name pets, not your offspring.

Also, OP should get one of those cats with a doglike temperament. Best of both worlds.

offspring are like pets, except offspring only provides enjoyment for the owners up to the time of birth, where as pets keep giving enjoyment their entire lives.

A hermit crab. That's loads of fun.

depends on what you want out of a pet. if you want something independent, get a cat. if you want something that loves you to death and needs you most of the time, get a dog (though i would advise against a corgi, they're cute, but they have bitchy temperments and you'de better be prepared for extensive grooming for both the breeds you're considering) if you want something that STINKS but is cute, ferret.

hermit crabs are nice... but they're not really "OMG I MOVED OUT LETS GET A REAL PET"pets

parrots are also good. you can research different species and find which one is right for you. be sure you do that if you consider a parrot

Oh damn, I had a cat like that when I was a kid. He was the most badass cat to ever exist.

But I guess he was a little too awesome, because our neighbors stole him when they moved away.

maybe he really was their cat and he just came to visit your family because you fed and loved him more than the original family

No, my dad got him from the animal shelter when he was a kitten. Probably too young to be away from his mother too, because he kept trying to suckle on him.
