Before I read about them, I thought it was cool I had relatives (kind of, not blood relatives, but anyway) on that side of the globe I could one day visit. Now I'm never going anywhere near Japan unless it's midwinter and all of those fuckers are either dead or hibernating.

Well, at the moment. Knowing how humans act, though, it's only a matter of time when they're introduced to some completely new ecosystem where they wreak havoc and spread terror among the human populace. Probably somewhere in the southern USA.

I know they exist in Korea and some parts of China too.

You know what would be fun? Doing exactly what you just said. I want to see these things attack a Killer Bee hive.

This past summer I got stung on the hand by a bee similar to that. We call them carpenter bees here, but they're extremely large and can bore through wood.

I was helping my aunt mulch a flower bed and it was in the mulch and got me.... To make a long story short my hand swelled up almost triple its normal size all the way up to my elbow.

I had to go to the ER and they gave me an IV of steroids and 50mg of demoral. =] Plus a prescription to an antihistamine and 15 vicodin 5s.
