Help me identify a weasel! Anonymous
(Pic sorta related)

Ok.. I live in Southern California along the coast, Ventura to be specific.

As I was watering my front lawn this morning, I spotted a strange little critter scampering across it. At first, it looked like a chipmunk but upon closer inspection it turned out to be a weasel.

This being a semi-urban area I at first assumed it was an escaped ferret, but it's fur was far shorter than any domesticated ferret that I'd ever seen. This cute little guy was brown with white markings around it's face, very short coarse brown fur, and couldn't have been more than a foot from nose to the tip of it's tail (Granted, it may have been young).
One characteristic that stood out was that on the end of it's tail there was a little prominent puff.

I've looked through a few databases of animals indigenous to California, and have yet to been able to identify this critter.

Any ideas? (In B4 suggestion of pokemon)

If it were some introduced weasel (Hell, for all I know it just may well be), it would be after the delicious eggs in your chicken coop, not your(INSERT RETARDEDLY LONG NONSENSICAL PRODUCE LIST).
