I had a hamster back in the day, and I was considering buying one again. Think I can have some pros and cons of getting one? I would make the list myself but I was like 8 when I had one, and it's been about 12 years since.

Pros: They dont take much care, you dont have to walk them, can leave them home alone for a few days if you go away, they're cheap, they're cute and furry

Cons: They or their bedding can be stinky, they aren't very exciting (watching them climb upside down in their cage loses its novelty after about 10 mins) they don't live very long, they dont really LOVE you, they get seeds and poop all over the floor, they'll most likely escape and end up in the furnace

I would really and truly recommend rats. They live longer, love you much more, interract with you more, aren't grumpy bastards when you wake them up, and are generally more intelligent and fun to watch.

>They live longer

Syrians and dwarfs typically live about as long as rats, but I had a Syrian that lived nearly 6 years. It was blind when it died, but at least it wasn't covered in massive tumors.
