Beta Anonymous
dear /a/
I got a new beta fish and put it in one side of my divider tank. The other side held a female(the other was a male). They were fine and were kind of checking each other out a bit. I watched them to see no hostility and they were fine after 15 minutes so i left. I kept checking up on them and than i went to sleep. When i woke up though the female betas tail fin was nipped really bad and the fin part was almost split in two. I think the females tail got through the little slits in the divider and the male got a hold of them. Well the female is my little sister's and she has become very sad about this. Do the fins grow back in like the skin over a cut would heal? and if it does is there any medication that helps this happen? (not my beta in pic of course)

yes, they will grow back.
My fish often lose parts of their fins and they heal just fine.

As>>151500said, they will heal just fine.

You can get some stress medication from your pet store to help if you want, though.

I used to have a beta, i saved him from a petshop.

i used to work in this tiny pet store(no dogs or cats, just toys and food for them, and small animals)

I was clanin the tanks and sw this beta withnext to no fins. i showed it to my manager and he told me to dump it in the sink and let it suffocate, so instead i took it home.

Named it Chum, and kept him for 7-8 months before he apparently died overnight in his bowlx.x

Hey OP, this is /an/ btw. >.<

As a general rule, never mix 2 Bettas of either sex. Only mix male and female during mating season, then remove the male sharpish. You can buy products to help the healing at your LFS, but it won't fully heal, unfortunately.

no, you remove the female. The male will protect and keep the eggs and fry in the bubble nest if they happen to fall out.

Try some Melafix and Pimafix. The two in conjunction with each other work wonders in healing up your beta.
