Rest in Peace Anonymous
Hi /an/

The worst happened. I'm sitting here, shedding tears like a little girl because i just buried my beloved cat.
I found her 2 hours ago a few meters away from my house, near the street.
She looked like she was sleeping, but with one eye open and with no visible wounds. However...i think it's no coincidence that she was lying near the street. Some damned fucking bastard run her over.

I dug a grave for her in my garden and wrote a letter how i felt about her, then i put her and the letter in a cuddly blanket (she loved cuddly stuff) and buried her.
I plan on making a cross for her grave and planting grass or flowers on it.

She wasn't just my pet, she was an important family member and everyone loved her. She was the most beautiful cat i've ever known.

It shall be known on the internet, that the greatest Cat ever died today.
I love you my little friend. Rest in Peace.

Why did you let her out? Indoor cats have no idea what cars are.

When my mother still lived in our house, she wouldn't let her out because of fear for the cars.
But the cat longed to be outside when she saw us playing outside every summer.
So i started to let her out because she knew about the outside world and it would've been cruel to keep her like in a prison.

Plus she was such a scaredy cat, she only was in the garden behind the house and don't even wanted to go in front of it where the street was because she feared cars even from looking at them from the window.

Poor thing. Just thinking about my cat dying upsets me, it must be really bad for you.

One night, it was raining, and something got me to step outside. As soon as I did, I heard crying. The sound of a kitten crying. As I ran around the complex looking for the source of the sound, it found me first. It was a little female bengal cat kitten, looking down at me from the second story balcony. She was stuck up there because of the rain. I ran up the stairs to get her. And she ran down the stairs to me. I picked her up, and she was so excited, and happy.

I took her back to my apartment, and placed her on the doorsteps. I went in to look for food. She didn't wait at the doorstep though, she ran into my house, and immediately declared it her own. She ran into my bedroom and jumped onto my bed. I went to go pick her up, and as I leaned in, she ran up and began licking my face. She knew she'd found a sucker.

For the next four months, she was the happiest cat I'd ever seen, and I was happier for it. She ran all about my apartment, tearing things up, running up anything she could grip onto, always constantly wanting to play. I didn't know much about cats then. I started buying her food and treats though, and she took to the litter box with no training -as has every cat I've had since.

She would cry to be let out though, and every morning I'd let her out, and she'd be back after fifteen minutes, and again I'd let her out at night. One night she even came back with a big fat rat in her mouth. She didn't kill it, but she was proud of her catch. And while it caught me off guard, I felt proud that she brought her prey to me and put it in my shoe.

Every morning though, she would go out for longer. And farther away. One morning she didn't come back. I waited all day, but she never came back. So I went out to look for her four that afternoon. I found her body just down the street. She'd decided to try and cross it. A car went right over her head.

I buried her in a box she liked to sit in, with her treats and toys, in the ground right outside my bedroom window.

So, subsequently, with cats I've had since, I don't let them out. I realize they get stir-crazy, so while the neighbors might think it looks kind of weird, I walk my cat outside with a harness.

Maybe I ran it over, I tend to run over a lot of cats.

Ahahahaha! That's what you get for letting your cat outside. Idiots like you give cat owners a bad name.

Insensitive jerks, how would you feel if your cat got run over?

Sorry for your loss OP. The cat is in a better place now.

My cat wouldn't get run over by a car or eaten by a dog or whatever nasty things that happens to outdoor cats, because I don't let my cat outside.

outdoor cats have a lower life expectancy. apparently.

So sorry for your loss, losing a cat prematurely and unexpectedly is always the hardest to handle and longest to get over.

Maybe you'll reconsider letting your next cat outside, I know my house cats are all perfectly happy inside, and enjoy zooming around. You could always try letting it out on a harness under your supervision though!

I'm sorry for your loss, anon. Cats really do have a way of wiggling their little fluffy selves into your heart, and losing a friend is never easy.

But with your next cat, please do consider keeping him/her inside. You can enrich an indoor cat's life with plenty of play, toys and affection, and there really are far too many things that could easily go wrong for outdoor cats, and end their lives far too soon.

If you start with a kitten, and make sure they're stimulated growing up indoors, they shouldn't want for more. I have six cats, for whom we've done the same, and they're far more interested in finding a lap to nap on then anything going on outside.

Why does everyone have such a thing about outdoor cats?
I've had mine for 6 years, and he spends half the night outdoors and some of the day.
He's never had any problems.

ITT: irresponsible cat owners.

Your cat got whacked because you're an irresponsible cunt.

Live with it. Sage for shitty fagthread.

Are you allowed to bury your pet in your backyard?
I thought that was illegal or something.

No one gives a shit if you're outside cat is old and healthy.
Just because they've made it this far, doesn't mean that they're still at risk. If your cat gets killed outside because YOU let it out, you should accept that.

Is it that hard to keep your cat entertained? I have three cats, two were feral when I found them and now they won't even go near the door if it's open. They're happy and I have no problem spending a few hours with them a day playing with a laser light or throwing their toys with them.

You guys are fucking stupid. Sure your cat can get old and happy as an outdoor cat, if it's lucky.

The things that make the lifespan of outdoor cats shorter in general are things that kill them instantly, such as:
Being hit by a car
Mauled by dogs
Humans abusing/killing it
Neighbors poisoning it

And you have to consider the non-instant things such as diseases they may pick up from stray cats, you could always vaccinate but there may be others that don't have a vaccine. /shrug

It's just the responsible thing to do to keep your cat inside.

I had an outside cat for 18 years. It came inside some nights, espcially winter. I always left a place for it in the garage to sleep if it wanted to (sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't). It was the best cat ever; always friendly, never a problem.

Cat got hurt (fights) but it died due to old age. It was lucky but I would have never forced it to stay inside.

Damn, I miss that damn cat...

Now you know how your neighbor felt when their kitten went out in the rain and never came back. Not letting your cat outside is really cruel too.
