one of my piranhas has a rather large bump on one of his sides? what do you think could be the cause of this?

parasites? anything i should do?

this is not my tank my P's are about 3-4 inches

stick your hand in the tank

did you isolate him? I have no idea what it could be, but it would be upsetting if it was contagious... is it just a bump, are the scales raised, is it fuzzy at all blah blah blah. just keep the water clean as you can I guess. and obviously watch him real close, if his behavior changes, if the lump gets bigger/smaller/turns into a wound.

Make a small incision in a finger, first.

if your tank isn't the size of the one in the picture and you have more than 5 piranhas just kill the one with the bump because piranha go EXTREMELY fast and your tank is about to get over crowded anyway

I would go with that. It's better safe than sorry. It could be contagious. Isolate it at least until you can figure out what it is.

Also, if that Piranha gets sick, the others will kill and eat him, so that's something else to think about.

Do you have an even or odd number of Piranhas? And how big is your tank?

Having raised several batches of Piranhas, I can say that they make excellent pet fish.

As for the bump, it could be from the tank. Piranhas are notorious for injuring themselves on their tanks when they get bigger.
