Glue Traps Unsure
My roommates put out glue traps for shrews. I found one just a few moments ago and took it outside and broke its neck with a shovel. I hope that was a quick and painless death. Does anyone have a better, or more humane way to catch and dispose of mice better? I fell so bad for killing, but I couldn't leave it trapped in the glue like that. What should I do?

Anyone have a suggestion?

use non-glue traps which do not kill, collect shrew, drive to semi-rural area (or house of someone you dislike) and release.

I tried to get my roommates not to use glue. I even went as far as disposing of some, but since they keep checking them, they just put new ones out. I heard that drowning them while they are stuck to the glue was quick, but I'm not sure.

Drowning is a terribly painful death, the shovel method is much more humane than drowning.

Jesus Christ, it's just a shrew. Hundreds of thousands die every single week.

Why do you catch/kill shrews? I've never heard of them being pests or bothering humans in any way...

Drowning is never quick or painless. Such a death is frought with terror and anguish.

I'm curious as well.

Drowning is only painless if it is extremely cold water, so cold that it shocks their nervous system.

I suppose you could give them alcohol poisoning, but I'd still say the shovel method is the best.

Thirded. Killing shrews sounds quite pointless and stupid.

Have you tried taming any of them?

I caught one running lose in my in my grandma's house, and it wouldn't be there if she didn't have cats, they brought it inside, but anyway we caught it and stuck it in a tissue box, put poured gasoline in it and caught it on fire. IT WAS GREAT BECAUSE I'M EVIL.

There a plenty of live traps out there. You just check daily and let them go somewhere far away from your home

A more expensive one

You can find some that you can make yourself here

bag them up and spray starter fluid in the bag.
The starter fluid contains ether and exposing them to it w/o ventilation will put them down fast and painlessly.

but you must resist the urge to light a match!
