vampire moths discovered Anonymous
holy shit, /an/, moths are getting creepy. check out this vid of a newly discovered species

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=46709431

i recently read about a species in madagascar (i think it was hemiceratoides hieroglyphica) that has a harpoon-shaped proboscis covered in hooks and barbs that it inserts under the eyelids of sleeping birds to drink their tears.

these fuckers are getting sneaky, /an/. time to start keeping an eye on them.

k, do they cause that shitty ass itchy bump thing like mosquitos? Just hurt a bit? or painless with a little cut after like a vamp bat?

l

mosquitos inject something that prevents that you feel the sting.
I doubt the moths do it too, meaning it hurts.

Calyptra is rather famous for this. Their proboscises are pretty sharp because iirc they drill into fruit and suck out the juice, some have taken to piercing skin and draining blood as well.

Oh right, what's much softer than both fruit and human skin? Eyeballs. Once the moths notice this, we're fucked.

The one I read about is C. minuticornis, which unsurprisingly comes from Malaysia (everything from Malaysia is vampiric. )

Moths are weird, I don't mind them as such, just not flapping about in my room at night.

I read that as 'fapping'.
