Moss Garden Anonymous
I'm trying to grow a moss garden in a little tray I had laying around.

I did the whole propagating thing with clumps of moss and buttermilk and then spread it over the surface of the tray.

BUT. When I woke up this morning I found all this fuzz and stuff growing on the tray... Is this the beginning stages of the moss or is this mold from the buttermilk and should I throw it away before it becomes a danger to my health?

If it's moss growing then that's cool. If it's mold and it's going to stay mold, that's not cool :(

I started the whole thing about 4 days ago if that helps and I've been misting with water every day.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, it's mold. Fortunately, if you can see it, it's not harmful to you or hopefully your plant. It's definitely not moss, if you start it from buttermilk it takes a few weeks to grow. Keep misting it every day, and hopefully the mold will subside.
Good luck anon :D

Thanks! I'm just going to figure that the mold is from the buttermilk.

I have noticed some little tiny light green spots starting to appear that look like they could be some moss starting to grow but I don't know.

I'm just going to keep misting it and see what happens since I've heard that the process from propagating it the way that I did takes about 5 weeks
