"Females reach sexual maturity at 1 year, and males reach sexual maturity at 1.5 years. A mother carries her child for about 7 months. They are born one at a time, weighing about 6.5 lbs at birth. Their life span is about 8 years."

I doubt they would last long if seriously hunted. these things breed almost as slowly as humans do, but live 1/10 as long.

Humans reach maturity at around 13, amirite? Not 1.
These spindly things are still creepy looking.

Not how fast they mature, how fast they breed. Humans have time for a long pregnancy even in a more primitive environment (where lifespan might be 30-50 years rather than 70-90). When it takes almost an eighth of your lifespan to produce one offspring...

OK, I see.
There can't be much reason to hunt them, they don't look like they have much skin or meat or even bones for that matter.

They'd make a nice lamp though.

I wouldn't want a lamp made out of that freakish looking thing in my house.

I dunno, they look kind of elegant to me, but then I seem to like sleek and long-legged animals as opposed to the fat and cuddly type.

Actually they do look kind of similar. And wasn't there some scene where its neck started to grow really long?
