Oh, the nectar diet? I heard it makes their droppings really runny and that they can get some pretty mean distance on them. One of the cons, I guess. I had the pleasure of taking care of a few of them while I worked at a pet store, though. We fed them a little nectar, but also a specially formulated lory diet, this pellet deal. Cleanup wasn't too bad.
But they are probably the sweetest birds I've ever handled. The ones we had were young, too.. they'd hang from your hands, nibble your fingers, feel around with those long feathery tongues.. so cute! And one of them even started to try and mimic us, mumbling in his funny little voice. I wish we could have kept them around longer but they always sold fast.
Quakers are cool, too, though. I imagine a handfed youngster would be a real joy to raise.
