I know, I know. Another "is my pet sick" thread... Anonymous
My 4-year-old Great Dane has suddenly started obsessively pacing between rooms, almost to the point of exhaustion. He wakes up at night and cries, obsessively licks his body until entire patches of skin are raw, stares intently into empty closets, and seems to have stilted breathing.

I'm taking him to a vet on Wednesday, but should I be doing anything in the meantime? Is this indicative of something.

Besides taking him to the vet, go talk to /x/.

Seriously.

The constant licking till his skin is raw sounds like a possible allergic reaction or a staph infection. Danes are prone to them. But please don't try to diagnose your pet through 4chan, please take him to a vet.

VET AND CLICKER TRAINING. Clicker train the dog to make him feel like he has a purpose in life. It will also help strengthen the bond between you two.

Unless the dog's licking ("flank sucking" iirc) at it's left side along the abdomen-- which then it's probably whipworms in the cecum.

But still, vet.
