Banfield Anonymous
Does /an/ have any opinions on the Banfield Animal Hospital? They're the full-service veterinary clinics inside the PetSmart stores.

I might have an interview with them this week.

I just wanted to know the Good, the Bad, and the Anonymous opinion.

Picture unrelated.

There is actually one in my area, actually a few and for the most part I havent heard great things. They do okay with my animals but I dont know how they treat their employees. Since each banfield is privately owned, the quality of service probably depends on the owner. Frankly the one i deal with it is poor when it comes to joints and non-preventative measures. I dont think a doctor writing down glucosamine on a scrap of paper determines the right dosage but hey you get what you pay for I say.

I think the general opinion of Banfields are pretty negative. However, like>>247441says (and like every Petsmart thread on /an/ has said) quality will vary greatly between stores. It's all going to come down to who's working there.

I work at a petsmart, and our people at Banfield are, for the most part, pretty damn mean. Since I'm the dog trainer at my store, some of my clients go there, and most of them say they're really not fond of it. I've been back there myself to check on a couple of the dogs (they have me help them sometimes if they think a dog's too aggressive) and they have no fucking idea how to handle animals, seriously.

So, at my store, they're shit. As mentioned above, though, quality seriously varies from store to store, so check it out and see what you think.

I've brought my rats there when my normal vet was closed, they were retards. I had to tell them what was wrong, tell them which meds to give, explain why a swollen foot also needed an antibiotic in case of bacterial infection, and then had to fucking figure out pain med dosage on my own because they were too stupid to give me any and I had to buy baby ibuprofen.

I actually worked at a PetSmart location for a good seven months, and the Banfield there was really great. They knew their stuff, the veterinarians were quite competent (at least in canine/feline/rodent) and they were extremely friendly. Their spay/neuter program seemed overpriced, but other than that, they seemed to know their stuff.

It seems to vary by location, so I would check out the one near you and see which way it goes. Don't be afraid to ask questions to test their knowledge--it's not offensive or against the rules!!
