If you love animals, why do you eat them?
>> Anonymous
because of the taste

I don't eat dogs and cats! What do I look, azn?!

I don't exactly love ALL animals. For instance, I absolutely hate parasites of all kinds.

I don't.

I don't mind if people are vegetarian, but don't fucking force your "BAWWWWWWW MEAT IS MURDER HURF DURF" on me when I don't force meat-eating on you.
>> Anonymous
If we let they're population get too large, they'll only suffer and starve to death. Better to kill of the few than let the many suffer.

It's how nature works. Some die so others live. Who am I to argue with nature's machinations?

Meat is delicious, I could eat nothing but fucking unseasoned beef and never get sick of it.

I only eat animals I don't particularly care for.

I love animals, but I eat them and like seeing they fight until death.

My lizard eats meat.
My fish eats meat.

Why shouldn't i?

I find the idea of eating meat revolting, but I tried vegetarianism (really really tried) but I couldn't get enough iron and protein no matter what I did, and the doctor said "you have canines for a reason". Mostly I try not to think about what I'm eating. I just pretend it's all qorn or something...and eat it as rarely as I can get away with.

>>322218

no offense, but you sport the mentality of animals that are meant to be eaten

Since natural selection no longer applies to humans, it's my prerogative to ignore my place in the food chain and be squeamish. I think a lot of Americans are inherently vegetarians at heart; that's why we generally don't eat internal organs, and all our meat comes pre-cut and plastic-wrapped so it doesn't even look like an animal any more. Granted, in the wild I'd either get with the carnivorous act or die, but since I'm not in the wild, who cares?

Because I love flowers, but I don't abstain from eating lettuce.

because they taste good. the second they mass-produce the brainless meat grown in a petri dish, im on board.

I'm with this anon. I love my dogs and cats, but I couldn't care less about the cows, pork or whatever it is I am eating.

I know it sounds hypocritical, but I also know I don't need to try and justify it.

I would eat my cat if survival said I needed to. I've had him over eight years and love him very much. But me being higher on the food chain would seal his death if I had not eaten in weeks and he was the ONLY thing availible. Before killing him I would cry and debate if I should actually go through with it an kill him, but then decide thgat in order to live I would have to do it. I would tell him what I intended to do and ask him to forgive me for my actions. I would tell him we had many good times together before thanking him once again and to please forgive me. Then I would subdue him and kill him in the fastest, most humane, and painless way I had availible at the time.

Then I would cry and bless him and thank him for giving me a chance to live with his flesh.

That was hard to say when he's sleeping on the floor right in front of me. ;_;

ive got rabbits. despite one of them being a "stewpot rabbit" ie very big and meaty, the kind they make into stew, i wouldnt eat them, even if my survival depended on it. i also wouldnt eat anybody elses pets. strangely enough, i would catch a wild rabbit and eat that.

the only meat i eat is seafood. i cant STAND eating any other kind :/ i even drink soy milk!

>>322276
pfft because eating your cat would help you survive. whats the point when theres no other food around?! fish and seafood are really good for you. FAKE MEAT has wonderful flavor, are low in cholesterol and saturated fat, and have added nutrients. if you die of a heart attack or clogged arteries, or are over weight, its your own fault. most of our health comes from what we eat. i'm the laziest fuck ever! since i stopped eating farm meat, (i only eat seafood very, very rarely) i've maintained a healthy weight and feel beter overall. and all i do all day is sit on my ass online :)

I eat animals because I am superior to them

if they were as intelligent as I am, I'm pretty god damned sure they would try to eat me

so I eat them before they can eat me, it is for humanity, not for self-enjoyment

You vegetarians are horrible, horrible people. How can you discriminate in life, killing these poor defenseless plants and treating them with such disrespect, yet you leave animals unharmed? Plants may not have feelings, but they are living things too! They have lives of their very own and you are KILLING them. KILLING IS WRONG. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

If you love nature, why do you eat it?

And don't get me started on your immune system destroying the lives of countless microbes and single-celled organisms!

I'll eat meat if I have to. I can't remember the last time I ate meat...

Eat fish as a vegetarian ok in my book as it's more justifiable for health reasons.

But eatiing chicken makes you sound like a hypocrite

And who said anon was capable of love?

I come from a country with now rainfull and poor soils. Intensive crop farming is disasterous. Thousands of kilometres of land have been lost to creeping erosion and salinity. Even worse, because of the low density vegetation that the land produces, cropland often takes up much, much more room than the equivelent biomass would in an area with good soils and decent rainfall.

With the disappearance of the megafauna, the original inhabitants of this country took up something called 'firestick farming', which used controlled burns to remove the masses of dead, dry, highly explosive oil-filled vegetation in a series of controlled burns, as opposed to a single massive burn that would destroy all life in its path with an insensity of heat that would even sterilise the soil. Unfortunately, with the coming of the white man, that method was lost. Fortunately, white man brought large herbivourous domestic animals that filled the environmental niche left by the disappeance of the megafauna.

So, here I have two choices: one, I can become solely vegetarian and eat a massively destructive product that completely erases habitat and also turns the land into a salt desert, or I can supplement my diet with meta animals that, while of course are still destructive to the environment, still allow for native vegetation to persist and native fauna habitats to exist (albeit in a modified state.)

Environmentalisim and vegetarianism/extreme animal rights are things that should, on paper, get along quite well but almost never do.

>If we let they're population get too large, they'll only suffer and starve to death. Better to kill of the few than let the many suffer.
1) their* population
2) kill off*
3) You know your meat is bred in captivity en masse to meet human demands, right?

>>322422
>Environmentalisim and vegetarianism/extreme animal rights are things that should, on paper, get along quite well but almost never do.
In almost all of the West, meat production requires around 50 times as much crops per calorie as eating plants, which means your dismissal hardly makes sense. And if you were talking about Australia, an industrialized nation, I highly suspect your animal feed comes from crops too.

Btw I actually eat meat; I just hate stupid arguments.

because chicken is delicious.

okay, if you want a srs bsns answer:
I'm not morally opposed to something that happens all over the natural world, anyway.

Factory farming and the like is fucked up, don't get me wrong, but that's what's wrong- not the act of eating meat.
>> Anonymous
I love my animals, but the cow that made my dinner isn't my personal friend. I have no problem eating strangers.
>> Anonymous
I don't have anything against eating meat in and of itself. However, I do have problems with some thing like factory farming, as others here have said.

I try to have respect for nature in general. Stuff eats other stuff, it's the way things work. All of us here owe a lot to the fact that there were other people and animals before us, etc. The natural cycle is something great.

So finish your burger, fatty, but have respect.

I don't love the animals that I eat.

Or, maybe I do, but I only love them because they taste so good.
