Sadly if that was too happen, the owner of the rabbit would have to cage his animal better.
I've have a farm full of chickens, goats and rabbits, the people who own animals that let the roam around free [primarily dogs] ALLWAYS found their way into my animals. One case, a husky that had killed 200 dollars worth of chickens, had been making almost daily rounds to visit my coop. I talked to the owner [drug dealer] who didn't give a shit about his dog, let him continue to roam. So early the next morning we caught the dog in the act. He's in the ground now. The legal way to deal with that would be to catch the dog in the act, shoot him, the call the police so they could document the scene. [like a murder] Its a never ending war. People who can't look after their animals or let them run wild in packs, destroying others livestock and pets, should simply be destroyed themselves or reported to the humane society. [in our case the humane society did nothing, as usual.]
