Hey /an/, I've a question for you.

The people who own the property behind my parents' house are tearing up the side yard (which apparently they also own) to put a driveway in, and in the path of destruction is a beautiful Japanese maple. We want to move it.

We are going to contact professionals, but what should we look for? An arborist? What are the signs of a good tree-mover? How much will we expect to pay to have it moved under 50 feet? Are there any guarantees?

Basically, if someone out there knows about transplanting trees, please educate me.

Picture is my cat.

I would suggest talking to someone at your local nursery. They might be able to hook you up with landscapers and whoever else you might need.

Need some dimensions (pic?) of the tree.

I totally forgot I made this thread.

The height of the tree is about 3.5 feet, and it's probably twice that in diameter. It's one of the low spready ones. I don't have any pictures of it, but I can try and provide more details the next time I go to their house.

They called a local person about it, but I figured there must be someone on 4chan who knows about tree moving, so! Thanks for the replies.

Also, don't be fooled by her looks - that cat is a bitch.
