So there's this cat that has been sitting in front of the house all day. The cat even went into the house when I opened the door. What should I do?

welcome your new feline overlord

Keep it.

You have been chosen. You should feed and fondle your new owner.

I think you should try and find out who the cat belongs to before you think about keeping it. You COULD be prosecuted if you're found with it, and it turns out it belonged to someone else.

In the meantime, hang around with your new friend. Watch a home rental over some popcorn and tuna fish.

bullshit. if the cat didn't have a collar, the fault goes to the owners. no way OP can be prosecuted by law or by morals for taking care of a cold stray

Plump it up, kill the wretched thing, and feed it to your family as a christmas dinner.

This is how I got my current cat. Best pet I've ever had. I suppose when an animal goes out of it's way to associate with humans you can be pretty sure it will have a good disposition.
