I have a problem?? Well I wouldn't call it that because I don't mind it so much. Anyways today while going to put my smoke in the ash tray I found a baby bird by my porch , I couldn't find the nest so I brought it inside made it a house and have been feeding it a concotion of dry kibble, egg, apple sause, carrots and calcium. Now I am torn between if I should keep it and hand raise it or turn it over to animal rescue or the vet. Does anyone have an idea of whether or not either will bother to save it or just kill it? In that case I will just keep it but since it seems like it fell a long ways down I am worried it is injured. So if anyone has any helpful advice that would be great. Thanks, and before anyway says anything I have been on google and I am perfectly aware of what care it needs, I just need to know what would be the best thing for me to do with it.

if its acting weird just take it to the vet if not i would advise giving it to an animal shelter if you dont have any experience raising a bird

The best option would be to find a trained bird rescuer to take care of it. If you bring it to a vet, it will likely get sent to a rescue org anyway, but if they can't find one and no one there has experience, they will put it to sleep. IF they even take the bird.

So, try and find a local wildlife rescue station, then if you can't, locate a vet with experience. If you know what to do and can handle failure (ie bird dying), don't give up the bird unless they know they can place it with someone to raise it. Better than you try to help it than it dies without a chance.

unless you're from europe or wherever those wretched shit birds are from, you should kill it. they're wiping out indingenous species.

OP here, I am from Vancouver Island, In British columbia. I don't think they are wiping out anything here so no I am not going to kill the *shit bird* Thanks to everyone else who helped though.

Get him to a wildlife rehabilitator. A google search should bring one up in your area. That's the bird's best bet for survival-- don't try to care for it yourself unless there's no other options.

you can raise him by feeding him with wet cat food mixed with a tiny bit of water. mix it and either with an eye dropper or chopsticks or tongs...feed him whenever he starts peeping and wont shut up. sometimes they wont because theyre confused so u have to gently open thier beaks and put some food in and theyll eventually get the idea. dont give him water or any other fluids...he drown from it...if hes dehydrated (really red skin) try putting some water on the tip of his beak...sometimes theyll lick it off. or you can buy meal worms and feed those to him...but crush the meal worms head before giving it to him..and the mealworm should be room tempurture...not cold. keep him warm and needs to be fed supposidly every 45 min. dont give him bread! unless you want bird diarrhea...and change the papertowl or towl hes on when its full of shit everywhere.

i recently rescued 2 of them from an abandoned nest in the corner of my garage. the mother had abandoned them for several days, and the only choice was to rescue them or let them starve to death.

my girlfriend and i took them out of their nest and put them in a box with towels to keep them warm. we feed them cat food; using chopsticks daily.

here's a vid of my gf holding one of em!

get a brooding box. or thats what i think they're called. they are used to keep chicks warm.
warmth is desperately needed and keeping it wrapped in a towel won't do much.
a heat lamp(one that won't kill it) or a heating pad might help.

Kill it before it starts shitting all over the place

fuck birds, I had a cockatiel once and it was the most annoying fucking thing in the world, with all the squawking and the shitting. cute looking thing though

OP here. Nevermind, it died.

Its a starling... A VERY common bird. If you give it to someone, they'll kill it. If you want a pet bird, I'd say keep it. If you DON'T want a pet bird, I'd say give it to the people who will give it a lethal dose of chemicals for you.
