What's worse is people *want* to be desensitized to that stuff, as if being emotionless is a state to be coveted.
And I can kind of understand that, because I hate that feeling of distress and worry you feel when you're exposed to that crap. However, those are feelings normal healthy people feel. People who aren't dead inside.
Also I watched the cat burning video (not zippocat, the other one) 3 years ago, before I ever knew 4chan existed, and let me tell you, I doubt any of those kids posting the pictures or gifs of that event have ever even seen the video of what they're posting, because the pictures/gifs are completely different than the actual video, due to the horrible sounds. I can't imagine anyone viewing that video in its entirety would be amused in posting those pictures. What theyre probably trying to do is get over their own distress by being on the offending side and not the offended, in an attempt to look cool and above their emotions.
