That's fucked up. You're a dumbass if you believe everything the media feeds you.

it's fucked up that people think that a dog that has been bred for aggression/fighting is a stable, trustworthy family companion.

No, it's fucked up that you think all pits are agressive. Every one I've ever met has been the sweetest, most well-behaved dog I've ever come across.

Rotties, on the other hand...

It's really all about the person who has the animal, not the animal itself.

Every Rottie that I've owned has been a sweetheart. Likewise with Pits. Its retarded assholes that make any dog aggressive.

rotties were bred as working dogs.

pits were bred as fighting dogs.

rotties can be trained to be mean, and pits can be trained to be nice. with pits, however, there still remains a far greater element of risk of aggression compared to other dogs. to deny otherwise is to deny any and all documentation of the breed and its history.

Our pit bull was a little baby to us. She was aggressive to strangers.

Rotties are so cute! My neighbors growing up had a crazy one that almost ate our labrador and killed a whole nest of baby birds. He was nice to people and stuff though. I only met one mean pittbull but it was a stray so I cant realy judge them based on that.

I agree with you 100%. Any experience I've ever had with Rotties and pits have been great. It's not the animals, it's the dumb asses that treat these wonderful dogs poorly that cause the problems. I say chain the dumb asses up to dog houses or put them in kennels!

Pits were bred for bloodsport, not general aggression. Since people had to handle them when they were wounded or otherwise on edge, any pit that showed aggression toward humans was culled.

Well I've got a friend who has a big rottie. If you're on the other side of the fence, he'll be the meanest dog you've ever met. But once you're in it's side, it's the most cuddling and cute dog! It sometimes lays down for you to scratch it's belly.

Personally speaking, I don't like these dogs as family pets. They're aggressive by nature and might attack when you never expect it. What I'm more afraid of is not being able to control them, 'cause they're very strong.

On the other side, they're very cute and lovable, just like>>93769>>93778are showing. I don't know. I guess I'm in the type who'd rather watch than keep :P

I have a Rottie/German Shepherd cross. He's a very sweet non-aggressive dog and almost never barks. Just look at that face!

I've had two rotties and known many others. They are very affetionate to their family and if raised properly, they would never harm a family member. They are, however, very protective (wich you all propably know alread) and may act aggressively in certain situations. Our rottie never really liked other dogs, but would rarely fight with them. She had the authority over other dogs without fighting them. One male rottie I knew liked to chew the familys other dog, a labrador, wich was castrated. He was a sweetheart with people, but didn't come along with other male dogs.
I agree with some of the posters, these dogs are usually very nice, it's about the person who owns them how they grow up. I would rather trust my child with our rottie than any person.

My uncle's rottie jumped up on me and tore a chunk out of my shoulder when I was eight. I apparently made the mistake of playing tag with my cousin while she wasn't on her leash.

I loved her to death, though.

We had a female rottie that was acted as my personal bodyguard when I was about 10. Every time I went to swim she immediately ran to the water, swam to me, gently took my arm between her teeth and dragged my off of water. Some guys bullied me a bit, but they were dead scared of the dog, and my little cuddly rottie would always bark when she saw them and they would run away. Sadly, this amazing dog died at the age of three. She paralyzed. Too bad that rotties so often have health problems.

A friend of my mom's breeds Shelties, and they used them for much the same thing when we were kids. They would put us in an area, and the shelties would keep us there. They wouldn't grab us, but they'd herd us around in circles.

Muh rottie. Sweetes little dog she was. She was put to sleep in january this year, at the age of eight. I miss her so much. She always growled when I scrathed or petted her, but it was a kind growl. Although our guests were always a bit afraid of that ^^'

So rotties have a lot of health problems? I thought only small breeds were more sickening.

Almost any pure breed of dog is prone to health problems due to inbreeding and the rape of the wolf body makeup by humans.

they have a lot of bone problems. making their legs weak. also quite a bit of heart problems >.< :(
