Dear /an/,
I have a mouse in my house and I would like to capture it and take it somewhere else or, perhaps, keep it as a pet. Do you have any creative and effective ways of capturing mice alive? I'm not sure how long he'll live because hes eating the ant bait houses in my basement and kitchen. My mother uses a room here for an office and she says shes going to put traps in there, I don't want it to die that way... honestly I am lonely and want to capture it to have a little piece of life to admire. Please, if you know any humane methods for capturing them let me know.
Thx,

Don't bother with those mousecubes they sell at Wal-Mart. I've watched mice push up on the door, reach for the bait, realize they couldn't get it without the door closing and back the fuck out.

Try any of the Victor live traps. They work pretty well.

Wild mice don't really take to being kept as pets well. The chances of it carrying disease or parasites is pretty high. All the same, catching it and releasing it elsewhere is a fine idea, though I can't really recommend a particular trap. Just make sure it's at least a mile from your house, or else they'll be right back in there.

Sometimes pet stores rent out live traps so call a few and see if you can do that.

Yeah, they can have parasites and diseases. Not that it matters that much, as you can't handle them in any case. They also escape easily when you try to clean their cage or open it for whatever reason.

On the other hand, they're pretty.

I've never tried raising a wild mouse, but I did have a domestic rat that I got for super cheap that made a damn good pet.
They poop lots, though D:

In either case, good luck.
