is this a regular mouse? how bad are they? Anonymous
When returning to my college room after the xmas I kept hearing scratching noises at night. I didn't think we could possibly have mice here, since it's clean here, but I did put a trap right next to my bed to be safe. And now that I got back after being out for a few hours this small animal was caught in the trap.

Is that a regular mouse? How bad are they, can they spread any diseases? Or infect humans with lice or other parasites?

I sure hope there aren't more of them, and that they won't bite me when sleeping.

When you shit all over the place and eat garbage, you tell me how clean you are.

I sure hope you got rid of the carcass.

assuming you live in north america, looks like some sort of wild mouse, probably a deer mouse. it isn't a house mouse (imported from the old world), but wild mice often come into human dwellings in the winter. you probably didn't notice any mouse feces because they are sticking to confined areas (until the scent of the trap lured that one out). there very well may be more, but they shouldn't be hard to get rid of and may leave of their own accord once it warms up. in the meantime, keep food in closed plastic or preferably metal containers, and don't leave half-eaten food lying around. they won't bite you while sleeping.

That appears to be a northern spotted owl mouse. They are usually rabid, and harbor flesh eating bacteria in their anuses.

Assuming your in North America, that is a deer mouse. They can carry hantavirus, which can be caught from contact with fresh droppings, but isn't very common. If you want to get rid of them, move your stuff around and seal off any places that they might be coming out of the walls or getting inside/under your furniture.
BTW, the only your going to get bitten by a mouse is if you try to pick it up.

always make sure to look in your toilet, too. you may see one drowned in there. or if it's still alive it may torpedo itself into your anus

Time to sit on the toilet for a few hours.
