D: /an/, I have a problem.I live in my parents' basement (I know, how fitting for Anonymous). In my basement, we have full sized windows. They dug holes about 3-4 feet down and maybe 1 and a half out, rounded. They then put metal tubing with round edges sort of like the following quick diagram:()(The bumps are probably 2" or so from peak to peak, although that's irrelevant.A few minutes ago, there was a chirping outside my window. I went to go see if it was a birds next or whatever, and I noticed a baby bird out there. If it tucked its head in, it'd be about the size of a tennis ball, maybe a bit smaller, except entirely gray. The beak is about half as long, maybe a bit longer, than the rest of its head and the top part is curved, if that helps. It's chirping constantly, and I think it fell in there on accident somehow. What do I do, /an/? I wanna help it, but I dunno. If I leave it there, it doesn't seem capable of flying out yet. It would probably starve to death slowly if left there. But if I picked it up and placed it outside the hole, don't the parents completely abandon it upon noticing the human scent on it or some shit like that? Could the parents even get it out of the hole? I've always been an animal lover, and I'd hate to know it died because I fucked with it or didn't. We have a pet bird, so could I get a couple bowls and put some food and water in there for it at least?Pic unrelated.
I say call a wildlife rescue service. They'll rescue it, and if necessary, raise it.
:D YAY! Thread closed. I looked into the abandonment myth on the suggestion of several others, and confirmed its myth-ness. I managed to get it free safely, and it quickly fluttered away to what I hope is safety.
