Or this thread can be about totally awesome Spanish festivals like La Tomatina.

La Tomatina is a food fight festival held on the last Wednesday of August each year in the town of Buñol in the Valencia region of Spain. Tens of thousands of participants come from all over the world to fight in a brutal battle where more than one hundred metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown in the streets.
The week-long festival features music, parades, dancing, and fireworks.
Approximately 20,000–40,000 tourists come to the tomato fight, multiplying by several times Buñol's normal population of 9,000.

Between National, Regional, Local, Town festivals, and siestas many Spaniards don't work for a third of the year. Awesome.

I'm sure all the starving people in the world absolutely love the idea of that festival. And the many related ones where people pelt each other with tons and tons of edible fruits.

Fuck you for acting like Spain can solve the world's problems by canceling a festival. And no, it's not even a step in the right direction.

Hypocrites like you can't see the forest for the trees.

Tell it to your Kroger that that throws away tons of food, or our government that subsidizes farmers to not grow food.

Or the 14% of all food purchased in the US that ends up in the garbage and accounts for 12% of our landfills to the tune of about 100 billion pounds a year.

Clean water is much larger global concern, and yet when it rains we try to not get wet.

What would you do, send a cargo ship to africa full of rotting food only to be used by warlords as means to their ends?

not raging at you, just throwing that out there
