hi /an/

My youngest cat ran away today and i cant find him. He was very sick at the time he ran away and i had been to the veterinary with him the day before. He had like a shitload of puz in his chest that the veterinary removed. Back home he was all drunk when he woke up and was so weak he could barely stand up or even lay down.

But somehow, despite his weakness, he managed to push the catdoor open and force his body through it and walk away early in the morning.

Now i fear that he is dead, but i refuse to give up hope yet.

THE QUESTION:
If you were a sick cat, where would you wander away?

To a dark place.

He either knows he's going to die, or he thinks he is going to because of the drugs messing with his instincts.

i have searched all day since i got back from work, but hes nowhere to be found. How far can a sick cat wander from its home?

i also fear that a fox or other cat has killed him =(

Usually pets know when they are going to die, so they run away hoping to save their masters some grief. I suggest you stop looking for that cat and get another one.

Probably some kind of hiding spot where he can't be found. sry.

Is there any way to get under your house? Take pics of your house and the surrounding area. This happened with one of my cats once, she was under the foundation of my house. I had to dig to get at her.

You were doing so well up until >>and get another one.

leave some food outside, maybe a trail back to your door? Maybe keep the door open a bit too, in case he's too weak to use the cat flap. And when it gets dark, keep a light on outside?

if another animal would kill him you'd probalbly see some blood eh? searh for the darkest, smallest, the most lonely corners around your house and yard and stuff. good luck.

Belive it or not, but he came back...

somewhere outside, he decided that he probably wasnt going to die, and instead was hungry and went home again. I was half asleep when my mother yelled that he had returned.

Fuck was i happy or what...

story ends well but he is still as fast as a sleeping turtle. the outside wasnt doing ahim any good in his healing process.

That's great news. I'd be sad if my kitteh ran off sick.
She looks a lot like the one in OP, too.

Grats on your cat's return, it's great that he decided the house is better for him. I was first post and ironically, my cat is now gone.

I'm glad to hear he came back! I'd watch him closely, keep him warm, and give him lots of fluids- some rich nutrient milk from the vet would be best, I think.
