This is my dog, Cory. She is pretty much blind and deaf. She can barely get up due to her hips being fucked up by heriditary causes and being hit by a car when she was young. She doesn't seem to be eating much anymore and shes losing alot of weight. Won't be long now.

poor dog.

Not to be mean... but I would suggest putting Cory down... she is just suffering now.
God sakes look at her.

Yeah it might be a good idea to put her down. Especially if it's hard for her to move, one day she might not be able to move at all then how can she eat and drink and go to the bathroom? And it's not good that she's not eating and drinking much, she could end up getting dehydrated. It'd be better to put her down then to have her die from dehydration or something that could have been prevented.
If you're not sure what to do, definitely take her to the vet, get her checked out, and see what they say.

what the fuck is wrong with you OP?
its pretty cruel just to walk past your dog everyday knowing that is miserable and do shit about it. this can probably even land you with animal cruelty charges.

do your dog a favor and put her down.

Why is she not eating much? Does she not have appetite? You could try feeding her better tasting or different stuff. Or is she just too tired to get to her food?

for her last meal. i would feed her a steak dinner cut up into little bits

make sure you hold one of her paws as they put her down. i would not want to die alone in a strange room with a strange man.

Most fun way to put a dog down is jump (2 feet) on its back. Then when it tries to get away or move just kick its genitals.

You're a fucking dick. THe poor thing could probably walk better if her nails were fucking cut. You shbould rot underneath a flaming pile of syphilis infect cum for the way you treat your dog. Asshat.

We put our cat down a few years ago. We'd had him for 13 years. I was doing my best not shed any tears, but kinda' failed. I couldn't bring myself to do anything but stand in a corner and watch as my sister and mother petted our cat as he was put down. The last thing he did though before dieing was turn his head to look at me. Was kind of like he was saying goodbye. I was pretty miserable over it for a few weeks. Though I was glad he wasn't suffering anymore. He'd spent the last few months throwing up everything and had gotten so weak form his inability to eat he could hardly drag himself up the stairs in our house.

you are horrible... i cannot believe you would let your dog suffer like this, and all you can say about it is "won't be long now." you're a sad excuse for a human being.

i agree with an above post; do her a favor and end her suffering. take her to the vet and out her down. then she can finally rest in peace.

sigh.. reminds me of my dog of 14 years.

most beautiful and loving dog ever, in her last days we fed her the best gourmet steak the money could buy...

got home from school one day, found my mum, sister and the vet sitting around her on the carpet... she was shaking, wheezing and obviously in immense pain.

now... I will regret my actions after this point till the day I die. This memory will forever bring tears to my eyes:

I was busting for a piss really badly (quite a crude way of putting it), so I ran to the toilet figuring they would be comforting Jaffa (her name) for a little bit longer, I went as fast as my pansy-faggot-arse could take me...

Just as I ran back into the room she realised I was home she raised her head, began wagging her tail, and looked into my eyes just as the vet injected the stuff that puts her to sleep. She let out a final gasp of air, and the last ounce of life faded away from her, staring at me... It felt like a, "I love you so much. Why didn't you stay with me?"

I ran to her, held her lifeless body, and just cried.

...in before "I waited for you Fry."

Yeah, I'm gunna have to dry my eyes after this post, but the moral is: Do NOT be a selfish worthless piece of shit, and stay with your dog to the very last second.

If she is in that much pain, I do suggest calling in a vet to do a house call to inject her with that stuff; that way your dog will feel comfortable in an environment she knows around people she knows and loves up till her departure.

Oh, and don't make her eat dog food until she passes, treat her! She deserves it.

That dog does look like it wasn't taken good care of and OP may or may not be totally insensitive...but...

I wouldn't put down a "suffering" dying old human...just saying sometimes you love your animals like a person and you wouldn't euthanize a human (at least I wouldn't) so I wouldn't want to euthanize an old pet i loved (then again that pet doesn't really look well-loved). Like an old person I'd just make it comfortable and give it some TLC to let it live out its life in peace.

I think that dog is probably taken care of just fine. Especially if it has been around that long. But, old is old. It's hard to really stay in shape and groom a dog constantly when they get so old and can't groom themselves. I say don't put it down, but treat it as best as it possibly can be treated. When it goes, let it be at home with people who care, instead of a vet.

Damn, I remember my first dog...

She died two years ago at the age of 16 years old, and we were more or less prepared to her death, as she had more and more difficulties to breathe, she had cataract and all that, plus heart troubles.

Really, it would have been fucking hard to kill her. As long as I can remember (In my 6-7 years old), she always was there and we loved her a lot. She was a solid dog, she had given twice puppies, she had some share of operations, we told ourselves going in holidays "Maybe she wont past this one" a lot of times.

Weirdly, when the vet said "Sorry, she couldn't go on with the operation this time, she didn't wake from the anesthesiant", it was like if I was totally prepared for it, it did sadden me, but I didn't cry.

The moment when I cryed, it's when we burried her. Before, it's like if I really couldn't, but seeing her cold and lifeless at the moment to put her body into the ground, I started to cry out loud. (Which I couldn't remember how long since I cryed in fact...)

In fact, writing this post, I remembered it all and cryed. Damn. It was long since it didn't happened.

Stop being stupid... The dog is well treated or wouldn't live this long... In my opinion I would put her down... She might be in pain and you don't want to have as the final image of your dog a gasping painfull animal.
I recently lost my Chinchila... When I arrived home she was on her side gasping hard and shivering... I called a vet I know and he would answer me after long thought... I knew there wasn't time to take her to the animal hospital... I held her, warmed her but then reverse peristalsis ensued and I knew she was gone... If I had any kind of euthanasing drug or something to give her I wouldn't hesitate... But I couldn't make myself to break her neck or something... It's been 6 months now and I can still remember her final three gasps... Stretched, cramped and painfull that she was in her final moments... God. You wouldn't believe how long she kept warm... I cried like a little baby and proceeded to bury her... Kika was her name.

But to upbeat this thing a little... My dog, called Mike, is 13 years old, and a crazy vet said that he needed to diet... So we began to cut his food a little... In a month he was limping and always tired... I said fuck it and fed him as I did before... He recovered in a week... He's that little guy in the pic... Tell me is he a fat bastard?? NO!
Now he's 13 and sometimes gets bruised for chasing cats and pigeons but apart from that he's as healthy as a puppy.

I don't know, it sounds selfish, but I can't bring myself to kill one of my animals...
