Sup /an/, got a bearded dragon.

Any anons know why the little beggar isnt eating?
I've had him 2 days, heating should be ok, lighting is ok.

He's about 6-8 months old but wont touch his crickets.

Parasite?

stress, give him few more days to get used to his new surroundings

op here - he ate his crickets on the day I brought him over, but since then he wont touch them.

Think that its the realisation that he's moved?

Try something different than crickets.
I had a bearded dragon that hated a certain breed of food for some reason.

If all else fails try dangling a small chunk of chicken on a toothpick.

Are you offering him any vegetables, fruits, or pelleted foods?

Have you seen him drinking?

The day I first got him (friday) he ate some greens from my hand, but now he doesnt acknowledge that its there.

I gave him a bath today, which he appeared to enjoy (closed eyes while I was holding him gently in a towel)

I asked the shopkeeper to show me him feeding, which she did - so I know he'll eat his crickets, just doesnt appear to want any.

Bit worried cause he hasnt eaten anything since yesterday now.

I'm no herp expert, but don't lizards and stuff eat infrequently?

could it be that the crickets are too big for him?
Try giving him some waxworms, too (we had a chameleon in our store that wasn't eating his crickets for some reason, so we fed him waxworms for a while instead).

He may be going through brumation, I know my 6 year old bearded dragon is right now. Bearded dragons are often more sleepy and eat less during winter, it's normal, research "brumation" and see if it sounds like what your dragon is doing. If not, it could be parasites. And don't panic if your dragon doesn't really eat for a day, it's not that uncommon.

Make sure you're only feeding tiny crickets that are smaller than the distance between his eyes. Try to hand-feed him crickets and the veggies so that he can't ignore them. And chop your vegetables up in smaller pieces, my bearded dragon never eats huge pieces of lettuce.

When I got my Leo gecko, she wouldn't eat for a week because she was frightened and adjusting to her environment. If it persists longer than a week I'd go see a small animal/reptile vet...

I would give it a week to get used to it's new home but by " heating should be ok." You should KNOW that your heating is ok what are your temps in basking, warm end, cool end?
what are you using for heat and uvb lighting?

I was about to say something about lizards being a very particular kind of person's pet, but then I saw the scorpion thread. Oh well.

What does a bearded dragon do all day anyway?
