Fleas and cat Anonymous
HELP!!!!! My Cats have fleas bad!!!! Any ideas of how to get ride of them and keep them gone. I already have flea collars on them but the collars are doing no good. I have given them bath but that only works for sort time, of course. The vet has given me some spray but I am not sure if it is working. Also the cats are allergic to the flea drops. I think the main issue is how to get ride of them and keep them gone.

There's a shot. It costs about $45 and lasts for 6 months. It's called Program.
It works. It's also non-irritating to the cat.

I work at a vet, and some advice there.

If you take the cats to the vet, you can get something that kills all of the fleas on the cats at that time.

As for your house, you'll have to use a flea bomb. You and all living critters (all pets) need to be out of the house when it is active. Then vacuum your house like crazy (even if you have tile/wood floor - includes furniture!). Throw away the vacuum bags (fleas can sometimes just get right back out of them), and obviously through the bag away in an outdoor trashcan.

Hope that helps.

you NEED to flea dip them ASAP and give them healthy food and vitamins as much as possible. Cats and dogs can get very, very, VERY ill with flea anemia and can die from it. During my sophmore year i had to put down my kittie because he was drained of so much blood she started having seizures. ;_; She was a birthday gift from a boyfriend too ;_;

you need to flea dip the cats really good. Then get some raid flea spray and spray around the outside edges of the all the rooms and around all the furniture. This helps stop the fleas from running under things and the cracks of the floor where it meets the walls. Then set off bug bombs..i personally would over kill it with the bug bombs..say 2 per room if it says 1 per room. Had a friend who had a flea infestation and i told him to do this and he never had a flea problem afterwards.

Go to your nearest pet shop and get Advantage. It lasts a month and will get rid of the fleas but I would advise bathing them before you do that.
Also - if your cats have fleas bad, beware of worms.......

Listen to this man. You and your cat should both go on an all-wormer after the flea infestation is over.

My cat had fleas so bad that she started to get scaly skin and thinning fur. We tried using washes and baths, flea collars, powders and drops and none of them worked. We do Frontline every three months for them and it works a charm. Buying anything except for something prescribed by the vet is a big waste of money.

Advocate animal treatment. One squirt on the back of the neck monthly kills just about every parasite they'll ever encounter, picture related.

Then get a professional exterminator into your house to do all carpeting, rugs, furniture, curtains, etc. If it's material, have it cleaned. Wash all your clothes on the hottest setting possible.

It'll cost a bit, but it'll kill all the fleas and you won't have that crawling feeling for months afterward. When I was younger we had eight cats all infested with fleas, and I got a phobia of the little parasites. I wouldn't sit on any furniture except my own bed. I've got the crawly feeling just looking at OP's picture.
