I'm trying to think of some animals that would be compatible enough to live in the same cage as my crocodile skink. So far I'm thinking stuff like vampire crabs and frogs of different types, but I'm not really sure. Any suggestions?

i really would never house another creature with my reptiles. most are meant to be solitary animals. if you really want to add something else, make sure their requirements are exactly the same, and the cage is enormous so they can get away from each other if needed, so they dont eat/hurt/kill each other. i would never do it....

Well the skink only eats grubs, caterpillars, worms, and snails. So I don't think it will bother anything else. I can't even get it to eat a cricket or a cockroach. And I don't think it will be bothered by anything because it usually hides. I think in this case a mixed community will work out.

I don't think you know what you're doing. Keeping multi-species communities is exceedingly difficult, even for professional institutions. The only way it works is if two species are well-documented to have a mutualistic or commensalistic relationship.

It's just as easy to do with reptiles as it is to do with fish. You really think if I put a dumpy tree frog in with my skink that it's going to turn out to be a disaster? Stop being a pussy and use some logic. A habitat with multiple species looks better and many animals can and do easily get along. Even when they come from different parts of the world. All I need to do is get peaceful species of similar size that utilize different parts of the vivarium.

No lol. No species is "peaceful."

Of course not. Crocodile skinks in the wild are completely accustomed to living their entire lives enclosed within a few feet of large frogs and drinking from the stagnating water they've pissed in and soaked in. Drinking the antibacterial toxins in their mucus excretions isn't unhealthy at all. Besides, it's not like crocodile skins ever eat larger animals the size of small mice, is it?

The water is filtered and frequently changed. I doubt either species would give a damn about the presence of the other. The antibacterial toxins of the dumpy frog don't seem to make a difference to the snakes and birds that eat them. There's no way a crocodile skink could eat a dumpy frog. Crocodile skinks are snail and grub eaters. Some people have been able to get them to take pinky mice, but a pinky mouse is hardly a dumpy frog. In any case I'm not going to get a dumpy frog.

Anyway I've decided to get another crocodile skink, some vampire crabs, and red eyed tree frogs of various morphs.

I lol'd.

Why the fuck do dumbasses with no idea what they're talking about come to 4chan of all places for advice and then BAWWW and pretend to be experts on the subject when their stupidity is pointed-out?

Because I was looking for some recommendations on what animals to get. Not novice warnings.

everyone is just freaking out op, just use common sense and you'll be fine

Don't want novice warnings? Then don't ask stupid novice questions.

If OP had common sense his dumbass wouldn't think throwing together crabs, skinks, and tree frogs from a different continent into a glass enclosure and expecting them to survive was a good idea.

This thread reminds me of the idiot who insisted he knew how to properly care for a nautilus and the guy who wanted to keep sugar gliders and tortoises together in a planted room in his house.
