Pugs - Great breed or greatest breed? Anonymous
I'm thinking of getting a pug for my next dog. It's still a while off, but this seems to be the breed I will get when the time comes.

So basically, what are the pros and cons of having them as pets?
>> Anonymous
Pros - they bark funny and it never stops being hilarious. They also tend to spin around in circles if you run a blender. Great lap dogs, very kissy.
Cons - they bark at like everything and have a tendency to chase cars. Also difficult to keep clean.

more cons: you have to clean out their face ridges with q-tips, and sometimes they need operations to have their nostrils slit open so they can breathe properly

I know their oersonality is just awsome, but I still just can't understand these overbred breeds. Why not get a pug-mix or something, and there's a better chance it won't need operations and such? (you cna never be sure with any dog, I understand that)Or another breed with better chances.
There's so many breeds and mixes in this world to choose from =)

Pugs are ugly and stupid dogs.

if you want a cute smallish dog, think corgiiiiiii

protip: Despite their small, cute appearance, Corgis are working dogs and require a lot of space and activity to be happy.

I've seen many-a renter lose their pet deposit because a bored corgi tore their apartment to shreds.

Pro: Pugs are very friendly and affectionate. They are bred as lap dogs so they tend not to need as much space or activity as other dogs, making them ideal for apartments and small houses.

Con: As mentioned, pugs can suffer from a lot of congenital health problems. Their buggy eyes can also be easily damaged. You also have to be very conscious of their diet. Their low activity nature means they can get pretty fat pretty quickly.

The lady who owned the flower shop in my hometown had an over-fed pug and it was basically an asthmatic loaf of bread dough with legs. Kind of creepy actually....you could hear the thing breathing from across the store.

iglies and non-useful dogs

Cons: As people said, you must clean their face-ridges, and some tend to have trouble breathing.

Cons: Kind, affectionate, nice size. Even tough they are lap-dogs they can walk very long distances and enjoys beeing out-doors. I've never met a yappy pug, but they tend to be curious at stuff and are rarely scared of things.
I will definitely get one when I will get a dog- I'm a student so it'll have to wait.
My family had one when I was a kid, and now my parents has gotten a new one :) She is so cool!

Why don't they just breed dogs without jaws or facial bones or something if it's so fucking cute.
