Any malamute owners here?

How are they at being home alone? I really really want one but it has to be able to deal with apartment life while i work 8am-4pm (i can come home from work during lunch hours to go for a short walk)

I hear they're less energetic than huskies but prone to howling so you have to be careful not to annoy the neighbors

Good dog or best dog?
I WILL make this work, somehow!

I knew one, once. He can do fine.
Just consider the fact he will steal your food from the counter the moment you turn. They are also very strong, all your home will be filled with hairs, and they are not that intelligent.
Nice dog, certainly not the best.

Had one, they're not really great apartment dogs at all. They just require too much attention and exercise (and they're a bitch to house train) Being left alone, they get really neurotic much like huskies, and this leads to your apartment being destroyed.

Here's some honest info on what it's like to have malamutes.

I am absolutely prepared to go carting or sledding with him, i'm sick of sitting on the internet all day anyway, my only real obstacle is my day job and somewhat small apartment.
