why does everyone think /an/ is full of PETAfags?
>> Anonymous
If we weren't meant to eat animals, why were they made so delicious, and yet plants so disgusting?
>> Anonymous
vegetables come second to my BIG JUICY STEAK
>> Anonymous
This is why PETA is retarded... Who the fuck eats parrots? I'm pretty sure animals that aren't bred for eating have really nasty meat.
>> Anonymous
you know not every veggiefag is a petafag. I'm a veggiefag, though that doesnt mean i fucking support a corporation of hypocrites and animal rights extremists.
>> Anonymous

I>>i fucking support a corporation of hypocrites and animal rights extremists

isnt that they only (retarded) reasosn to become a vegetarian?
>> Anonymous
I think that Peta COULD do some good if they focused on some of the problems that we might have... but no.. they go about spouting TRASH and making false claims. There are MUCH better ways to do what they want.
>> Anonymous
>>283740
Overall I agree with you. I agree with Peta on some issues, but I don't give them money because they're essentially trolls. However, this could be interesting:

>> Anonymous
If they focused on giving animals a decent life and a painless death, I'd support them. As it is they're just a bunch of drama queen idiots, who likely have a hidden agenda.
>> Anonymous
LOVE TO EAT US!
All meat is delicious.
>> Anonymous
Vegetarian is so fucking hypocritical. Either way, you're still killing animals. As crops and grains are harvested, thousands of field animals die because of tractors and such.

Also, this is coming from a vegetarian of two years. I started eating meat again a few weeks ago.
>> Anonymous
>>283789
Consider the food grown to feed cattle. Even if you consider factory farmed vegetables where the harvest may kill more animals you're still reducing the deaths. Then again, it would obviously be different for free-range cattle (or whatever).
>> Anonymous
I wish animal rights activists would focus solely on getting anti-cruelty laws applied to food animals; or at least starting by getting a decent and regulated free-range label with the USDA. I would spend the extra 25% it would cost to keep animals on a plot of land where they aren't so crowded that they would peck each other to death.

As it stands "organic" and "cage-free" labels are jokes. I realize that it wouldn't be an overarching solution, as people would still much rather purchase cheaper meat, but I have always been a fan of damage control over pumping resources into wasteful agendas. (Must be the utilitarian in me.)

Of course they have a hidden agenda. The goal of the entire organization is to phase out domestic animals entirely.

What do you suppose happens when mandatory spay and neuter programs are 100% successful? Here's a hint: no more pet cats or dogs.

What would happen to cattle, hogs, poultry, etc. if they are no longer being used for their domesticated purpose?

I'm sure you can get the idea from those two scenarios..
>> Anonymous
>>283821
idiot.
>> Anonymous
When we die, we feed the maggots. PETA must approve that.
>> Anonymous
>>283826

I'm assuming by your elaborate and well thought out post that you have proof otherwise?

I don't have the exact quote handy, but I do believe that the founder of PETA, or at least someone high up in the organization has clearly stated that they wanted all animals to be free of human intervention. Amazingly, that applies to domestic animals and pets.
>> Anonymous
>>283821
Don't spew alarmist bullshit. As long as people love purebred animals, spay/neuter programs will include a breeder clause.

Also PETA is awesome simply because they are offering 1 million dollars to anyone that can come up with a way to make in-vitro meat. I can't wait to laugh when my son screws up his first test tube chicken breast at home and I have to teach him how it's done. P.S. I'm going to name my kid Elroy.
>> Anonymous
>>283830

Breeder clauses include VERY expensive permits which only the biggest breeders can afford and ridiculous limits and hoops to jump through.

MSN legislation is killing the purebred animal hobby slowly and surely. In my species (plural) of choice, there are MANY breeders in areas that have already enacted MSN laws that cannot afford to pay $100+ annually JUST so they can keep their hobby.

When all of the smaller breeders drop out because of the rising costs of participating, only a few large breeders will be left (in relation to the current number), making the prices for purebred animals go up.
>> Anonymous
Contrary to popular animal rights bullshit, you don't make money off of breeding animals unless you have a very large operation or a very specialized market. The vast majority of people who breed any sort of animal do it because they enjoy the hobby/lifestyle and all that comes with it.
>> Anonymous
>>283732
Seconded.

lol, there's a parrot on there
>> Anonymous
>>283831
I read about California laws that would impose a 100 to 150 dollar cost on each new pet. That seems steep and another article said that the cops wouldn't enforce it if no one reported that a pet was unfixed. I guess it is more complicated than I initially thought it out in my head. If there is no enforcement lazy assholes will find a way to fuck things up and the laws will hurt responsible breeders.

Goddamnit why does educating ignorant people and making sure people are properly socialized always end up being a better solution than quick short-term fixes.

PETA needs to die and everyone that has anything to ever do with it, and the fucking bitch founder of it needs to be euthanized and put in PETA's walk-in freezer where they store all the dead animals they kill.
The shit on that website honestly made me see red.

Don't jump down anon's throat - their psycho bitch president did say that we should not keep animals. Period. The end. That's what's so FUCKING dumb about PETA - they advertise themselves as simply wanting to help and protect animals so, of course, everybody's behind them. But then you listen to old lady Newkirk and you realize she's a complete nut.

Your average PETA supporter probably has no idea. They probably live at home in blissful ignorance with their cat, dog, and tank of fish. If it was up to PETA, no one would have any of these things and that's complete bullshit. Companion animals, when taken care of properly, live great lives - and there are still lots and lots of people who depend on animals for their livelihood.

I wasn't denying it. But, if I buy local from smaller farms (which I do) which farm differently than the big factory farms a lot of produce comes from I minimize the animals dieing, in addition to supporting my local economy.

This entire thread is a glaring example of how Peta is succeeding beautifully. You see, they are trolls. They are getting you to talk and bitch about them, which is what they want.

They are extremists. They have some good ideas but they are also crazy. But it doesn't matter whether you fully support them, or whether you get off on bitching about them at every moment, you're helping them.
>> Ingrid Newkirk
You fucking assholes at /an/, keeping these beautiful animals as 'pets', you are no better than those SS-guards at Auschwitz.

WE WANT TOTAL ANIMAL LIBERATION
>> Anonymous
>>283919

Why should you even have to strive to kill less animals to feel better about yourself? That IS denying it, no matter how you slice it.

I MAY kill more animals than you do. The difference between you and me is that I don't pretend to care.

Did you know there is evidence that PeTA has staged the gruesome fur farm investigations? That's right. They pay a Chinese worker to skin that animal alive and then they ask for donations. It is highly impractical and dangerous to skin an animals alive and thats why it never happens in real fur farms.

I love my dog, she is asleep on my lap as I type, why is she there and not in her bed, cause she is spoilt (but not obese, that is a form of cruelty all of it's own), thats not fucking cruelty, killing her or making her a domesticated animal go be one with nature IS

FUCK YOU PETA

I am all for the ethical treatment of animals, humans included, we are animals but PETA you are the exception
