I'm thinking of getting a corgi. I've heard that despite their teeny tiny legs, they're actually pretty energetic and like running. I'm a long-distance runner, and always ran with my last dog (a golden retriever+something else mix). Would a corgi be able to withstand a 4-5 mile run without getting too tired? Of course, that's at a steady, relatively slow pace, not a sprint. If not, what would be the longest distance a corgi could run?

My vet has a corgi that does agility, but... I don't know if they'd make a good running partner.

Corgis were bred originally to be herding dogs, so they can run for a damn log time before they get tired. On the other hand, they are also a lot smarter than your average dog, so if they don't find the run interesting, they'll decide to do something else.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Get an Afghan Hound.

They love running, and not everyone has one.. so you'd sorta be unique.

Though they are big and kinda take up an entire couch when they want to.

Get an Irish Setter. They love to run, be with their owners, etc. As pups, they are tireless, so they'd be excellent running partners.
