Thinking of buying an English Bull Terrier. I have found two so far that i am interested in. The dog in the pic is one of them but she was born deaf. do any of you all have any personal exp with deaf dogs that you can share with me?

deaf bull terrier = 400
regular bull terrier = 1000 but i think i can get her down to at least 900.

for the most part the deaf dog seemed normal but just not as hyper as the regular one. suggestions?

Fucking awesome dogs. If you have it's ears mutilated, I will track you down and do the same to you.

Eh, I wasn't there when it happened, but the people who owned the dog seemed nice enough, not the trashy type of people you normally would expect. Paid for medical bills right away too. The dog never caused any other problems in all the other lessons it was there.

Interestingly enough my dog feared that dog from that day onwards, if it hadn't seen the dog but just heard her bark once it would cower in fear.

Anyway, it's true one dogs behavior doesn't mean all dogs of that breed will snap one day. But the fact remains that it's a fighting dog, thus very muscled and a jaw that gets locked up... It's also not easy to see the initial signs a dog will show if it feels threatened (ears going up, eyes narrowing, teeth being exposed, tense body, snarling snout) with this breed, so it's harder to predict if it is going to attack you.

I had a white border collie that was deaf. She functioned like any other dog, but it was sometimes hard to get her to follow commands (for obvious reasons). You can communicate with a deaf dog just fine with gesturing when you have his/her attention, and he/she can learn the slightest touch of a leash means to heel or stop. But you wouldn't ever be able to have your dog run loose for safety reasons, and expect training to be a little bit of a strain when puppies get so easily distracted and you won't be able to say his name to get it back.

If you are certain that this is the breed for you and you're up for the challenge, go for it.
