Rescued animals Anonymous
So last year my girlfriend and I found a sparrow that had fallen off the roof. He looked like he'd been attacked by a crow or something. No feathers, couldn't open his eyes, and he was asking for food at the top of his lungs. It was the hottest day of the year, and we couldn't leave him, so we took him inside and raised him. He has free run of the house, and has made a nest in the medicine cabinet pictured here (which has been poison-proofed just in case) although he still prefers to sleep in an empty box of shredded wheat.

This is him attacking

He's very friendly, and since house sparrows are invasive in the US there are no laws against keeping him (not a native songbird).

Have any of you guys rescued an animal like this? Seriously, it has to be the best feeling ever.

how is it with the bird shit? i mean.. is it everywhere or does he actually poop in one area?

he keeps it pretty contained. There's a windowsill, and he destroyed a lampshade with it, and the top of the refrigerator needs to be cleaned all the time

It's not as big a problem as when he fills the sink drain with computer screws, paperclips, and last month's electricity bill

throughout my youth i brought home birds of all kinda, turtles, snakes, frogs, lizards, cats, dogs, groundhogs, chipmunks, rabbits, mice, rats.. pretty much everything i could find.

many died, some were released, some we taken to a wildlife vet, sometimes i kept them for awhile if injured or babies.

I've rescued a pair of cardinals and a cedar waxwing.

Birds are great.

While I think you're not that bright for having a free-flying bird in the house and for not getting it to a certified wildlife rehabilitator, I have to say... ....no, wait, I can't think of anything positive here besides the bird not having died yet.
