Is there any type of insect that would make a good pet? Preferably something that isn't to small and handable.

Spiders are out of the question. Roommate would kill himself.

god damn you suck at trolling.
give it a rest for a few days then try again.
its just boring when you do it on a constant basis.

Emperor scorpions are fairly docile, and even if they do sting you, it's less than a bee sting.

As for insects, your best bet is to set up a fish tank sort of situation. Get some hissing cockroaches and other nonflying bugs and make a little habitat. Bugs aren't good for handling, but some are nice to watch.

is telling the truth except they are a lot of fun to handle. just as much as any other animal you wouldnt actually let run loose in your house. also, hissing cockroaches will breed easily and the dominant males will fight over territory.

I hear they are the best insect starter pets because they are incredibly durable and can pretty much survive most mishandling and poor conditions. I mean hey, it's a damn cockroach!

But it bothered you, didn't it? That's the point.

I'm going to look into the scorpion. They don't seem to bad. Cockroaches, I'm not so sure. I grew up with them and they weren't pleasant at all to have around.

What about those giant millipedes? Anyone have experience with them?

Praying mantis, don't live very long either so if it doesn't work out it'll die soon and they are cheap as chips if you want another one.
Not too mention feeding them spiders is awesome

mantids are cool but they do die quick. but during spring season you can order clutches of eggs (probably 50-ish babies per clutch) for like $5 just for the hell of it.

millipedes and centipedes make awesome pets but i dont suggest handling them. ever. and the hissing cockroaches may not be like youre thinking. theyre bigger than those regular ugly black roaches and they arent slimey or anything like that. and as anon said, they are damn durrable. and theyll FIGHT FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT! but yeah emperor scorpions are a sweet and relatively harmless pet. i use to keep one running around in/on my workdesk sometimes. just dont let the obese petstore guy talk you into a bark scorpion or something crazy lul.
