stupid animal question Anonymous
i've had my cat for ~ 3 years now, but I just now am noticing the white part of her eyes (the sclera)...is this supposed to be visible in cats?? I can't remember seeing it on any other cats (pics or in real life).

The white part of the eye is visible only when there is something wrong with your cat. This means you should take her to the vet, and soon. It's a general sign of unhealthiness.

I can sometimes see it when my cat rolls her eyes, but if it's always visible, you're best off to ask a vet. I don't think there's anything wrong with eyes, but maybe her lids are dry or dehidrated or something.
Btw she's a cutie :)

oh, and she's not so cute anymore as she became obese after getting spayed :( , now around 15lbs..but she's still cute to me!

Bikecat almost always has clearly visible whites in his eyes. Could be an anatomical feature.

i think its very common to see at lest part of the white in a cats eye, i have never even considered it to a possible problem, but of course if its eyes start to bulge out like that crazy dogs eyes then thats a different story

I repeat: The white should NOT be visible constantly.

It is a sign that there is something WRONG that needs fixing. so fix it.

Are you sure you aren't confusing the third eyelid for sclera?
