I'm looking into a caged/glass pet and a snake seems easiest to take care of.

What species do you recommend? Pic is related; Yellow Rat Snake.

try a corn snake, they only get around five feet long, tame fairly quickly, only need a mouse or two every week, and come in all sorts of pretty colors. : D

Rat snakes and corns are good choices, but so is a small boid like a ball python, especialy if you think you want to take the snake out more often. You shouldn't do it too much it stresses the snake, and stress kills snakes. Also plan on getting at least a 20 gallon long tank, anything less is too small. go to forums.kingsnake.com for better advice than the knobs here can give.

try a rattle snake. careful though. if you don't snuggle and hug them enough, they'll stop giving you kisses and they'll die. Now remember, the kisses might hurt, but just take a nap after each kiss and you'll be fine.

Both the most valid suggestions. If you want something a BIT different from the norm but still easily handlable, you could go for a california king-snake.

But, having both a corn-snake and ball python (lolirony), I HIGHLY reccomend either. Low housing needs, hardiest snakes around, good temperaments.

Go for'em.

I had a black widow spider that I caught. I fed her a few small crickets once a week. She was very easy to take care of, had her for two years. Obviously not the cuddling type, but very very easy to care for.
