They should be illegal to keep anyway.
They are NOT domesticated, they are not supposed to be kept as pets.
They live in the forests of Australia, how the hell are people keeping them as pets?!

If i were one of them, I'd go all emo too.

Lots of people are capable of keeping them happy and healthy throughout their lives. Same with other exotic species.

There's just some people who shouldn't get them. Like OP, who makes it sound like getting them is a joke.

i've been meaning to buy one of these for my brother. he's got a genetic disease so these guys are perfect for him. he's nocturnal himself and doesn't leave the house much so it could basically live in his shirt pocket.

Don't get a sugar glider. They are awful pets.

don't fucking do it.
they are loud, annoying, have a complex diet and messy as fuck.

No animal has been domesticated in the beginning, therefore you should judge all petkeeping in terms of that criticism. You need to start from somewhere, it takes generations for some particular animal to became domesticated. Dogs used to be wolves, you know. And if you had lived back then when they took the first puppy in to the camp, world would not have dogs today.
And yes, exotic animals can be kept happy and satisfied with devoed caring and examination of them in their natural habitat, diet etc.

If you keep them up during the day and let them sleep at night they won't be nocturnal anymore, also if you don't think you can give them the attention they need or the diet they need don't get them. There's tons of other cute fuzzy things you can get that require a lot less maintenance.

To domesticate a species, a lot of selective breeding is needed. Animals do not magically become domestic from living near to animals. You need selection, tens of generations of it. If you feel up to it, go right ahead, but it's going to be a lifelong project.

I was about to say that too, but I figured that it's obvious. Kind goes in with that "devoded caring and blabla".
