how does one successfully bath kitunn whilst keeping flesh? is it possible? she climbs like muthah, i mean, i watched her climb up the kitchen curtains the other day... but she needs a bath. so, get rid of smell> farewell to the flesh??????

uhm excuse me wtf r u speaking

Shouldn't be too hard to control a kitten. Get them used to bathing often when they're young and they won't want to kill you when they're adults.

washing cats is stupid, they keep themselves cleaner then you can hope to accomplish by themselves, they aren't stupid like dogs

One tip is to have the water ready before washing the cat. If you run the water while cat is there, it will freak the fuck out.

Also, have a seperate container of warm water to rinse the cat with after lathering it up with bubbles.

And as Anon said, better to start while the cat is a kitten so it gets used to it, and do it fairly often so it gets used to it faster.

On the first few times, you may wish to purchase a set of tight fitting thick gloves (leather or cloth or whatever) which you don't mind getting wet or having cats bite into it. That will help cure the human side fear of getting bitten or scratched.

I disagree with running the bath before putting the cat in it. We always put the cat in the tub, held him with one hand, and slowly filled the tub up while he was standing in the water. Tossing him into a tub full of water seemed to piss him off.

But you should definitely start bathing kitty while she's small. It'll be a lot easier to control her while she's still small, and by the time she's grown she'll be used to it.

Why would you wash a cat? It can wash itself... I never washed my cat and it doesn't have a smell... It smells like a cat... Not having an overwhelming soap smell=/=dirty. Just brush your cat everyday, that's all you need to do...
>> Anonymous
For all of you who are bitching about how cats do not need to be washed... sometimes they do, especially the young ones, either because they have gotten into some serious mud/dirt or because they need a medicated bath (fleas, eczema, ringworm, etc.) Sometime a tongue bath just doesn't cut it.

Now, as far as the OP's question. This might sound awful, but it works. I worked at a veterinary clinic for a while, and this was a surefire method of dealing with kitties who hate water. Buy a large knit laundry bag and put kitty in it. Then wash through the bag. Your cat should be able to move and breathe just fine without clawing you to death.

You bitches need to wash your damn cats. You know why less people are allergic to dogs? Because people fukken bathe them. I am sick of breaking out in hives and sneezing every time one of these bastards rubs against my leg or whatever.

If you're allergic to cats it's not because the cat is dirty, it is because YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS MADE OF FAGGOTRY PLZ DON'T REPRODUCE YOUR GENES!

People are more allergic to cats than dogs because cats wash themselves all over with theyr tongue so there's dried saliva on them. People are allergic to the saliva dandruffs. Since dogs only do it on their paws people are less likely to be allergic to them.

Also I'm allergic to both and I own both a cat and a dog so shut up learn how to be a real man!

then stay away from cats you moron, its not like theyre hiding in the shadows at banks and supermarkets waiting to brush up against your leg

you should become an hero for the failure of your immune system to properly identify real threats. or just suck it up and quit being such a pussy.

Clip their nails. Usually working by wrapping them snugly in a towel, and by snug, I mean tight but not choking. Stress on the NOT part. Don't know how, us regular toenail clippers and do it from the side of the claw. Do it little less than halfway or before it looks dark. The dark part is where blood can shoot out. Care with them. If it bleeds, tap the end with some flour.

This can be found on Google. That's how I handle the fosters I have right now, until we get a scratching post (that isn't us.)

op here. i wasnt sure if i could clip her nails, i wanted to because they are so damn sharp, but i had heard they could start bleeding. i didnt want to piss her off. the bathing went well, but how often is often? as in, "bath her often so she will get use to it"?

Get a pair of these clippers at a pet store. They work great. If kitty puts up a fight, wrap her in a towel, extract one paw at a time, and clip. Be careful to only clip the white part of the claw, or she'll bleed. And before she can recover from the insult of the clipping, wash her.

Explain your definition of a dumb animal

Animals, cat or dog are highly intelligent for what they need to be in their life, environment and relationships.

You're the dumb one

don't bathe her often or her fur might get oily.

I haven't had a cat that young, but it should be okay as long as you only clip the clear part of the nail. Pet her first. Since the cat is young, it would be good to get her used to you handling her feet, which will make future nail-clipping much easier.

Spaying and Neutering is certainly needed

And we used to have our Indoor cats declawed, but I dont know anymore, my mind is changing on that. I'd like to try those SoftPaws caps that glue on their nails.
