Super Pet Night-E-Night bedding Sara
Hey /an/

Today is my birthday.

Today is also the day that I woke up to find my roborovski hamster being strangled by Super Pet's "Night-E-Night" bedding.

I was able to free him from it, but he's now very skittish and I'm afraid that his cheek pouches may have been damaged. Also, one of his eyes is bugging out so much that you can see the red tissue behind it. He may also be in a state of shock and other things may be wrong with him. He is too freaked out to be examined right now, but as soon as he has calmed down, I am taking him to the vet.

On the Night-E-Night package it says: "It's so safe, so soft, and so neat!" and there are no warnings on it. It obviously isn't safe. I looked online after the incident and found other issues with bedding like this including animals getting their limbs caught it in and getting gangrene, to it getting stuck in their cheek pouches and obstructing their digestive tracts. I’m extraordinarily angry at myself for not having done the research before hand and angrier still at Super Pet for allowing it to be sold.

So /an/ for my birthday, and for my hamster (his name is Sausage) please contact Super Pet with your concern about Night-E-Night fluffy bedding (item #60453). I called them this morning and they have yet to get back to me. It's really not fair for them to advertise a product as safe when it has seriously harmed as well as killed small animals. It is my goal to get them to take this product off the market which I feel could happen if people sent them a message expressing their concern.

Here is their email: customerservice@superpet.net

Thank you.

I did research, just not on nesting materials.

The product was labeled as safe, and I trusted it. I realize now that I should have researched nesting materials and I have been kicking myself all morning.

sorry for the crappy picture... if you can't read it, it says "It's so safe, so soft, and so neat!"

asbestos was marketed as a safe product many moons ago....

Your hamster is pretty cute there.

Lawsuit imo. They shouldn't be selling that shit.

a drop of baby advil / tylenol etc should help settle your hammy and the little critters usually like the fruit flavor. (by a drop i literally mean one fair sized droplet on your fingertip or somewhere he'll easily lick it off)
trauma usually just needs time to heal, don't think there's much to do for the eye.
