I got a DVD in the mail. It was a preview for the BBC/Discovery Documentary Planet Earth. It was only about ten, twenty minutes of stuff, but it was gorgeous, the entire thing was filmed in High Definition cameras, and I'm blown away. Have any of you seen it, /an/? Are you as awed by the prestige of nature as I am? It just makes me want to go out and explore the world (I'm not, but I want to...)

If you didn't get a preview, it'll be starting on the 25 March. Give it a look.

Already planning on watching it.

If it's half as cool as blue planet was (especially the deep episode) I'll be quite pleased.

I heard some neat things about this documentary series. Apparently they've been using new hi-def cameras from helicopters flying farther away from the action. This allows the footage to be more natural footage that is not affected by humans being in close proximity to the animals.

Apparently many nature documentaries rely on dozens of different reels of similar types of footage spliced together to make things look like one event. This is due to the human element mentioned previously. Now, since they have cameras that can record from farther away at better quality they can have longer nonstop reels tracked over longer distances.

Looks really cool.

It's good shit. That's all I can say. Extremely good. Only thing it lacks is narration by David Attenborough.

Also, unlike other nature documents I believe this doesn't have the requisite scenes of snails, spiders, flies or elephants fucking! Bonus!

Watching this sucker on HD. I have a 106" TV, and the previews alone make me forget I'm a 29 year old virgin.

Correction....

Are there TORRENTS out yet which don't have an annoying British voice narrator?

Seen a bunch of HD stuff, sadly only on a small high-res screen. It does look absolutely stunning though. Grats you bastards with huge HD displays, may you die in horrible fires.
