well I can offer an interesting story that might help. I had a cat awhile back (male calico so an attitude is pretty much expected) and he used to pee on things when he did not get his way. One day he went as far as to pee on my little brother before school (I must say it was rather funny for me). Anyway we kept him outside for a couple months and he never did it again.
So maybe he is just doing it because of annoyance (the age of the cat makes me think otherwise though), but unless you have had a recent checkup with a vet, I would say have his bladder checked agian just to be sure.
