Hey /an/
This is my cat Yoda, she's part Maine coon, and probably american shorthair. Can anyone tell me more about Maine coon cats? Yoda's sister, Whiny has more of the Maine Coon traits, (The fluffy hair, the chirping instead of meowing). Is it also uncommon for siblings to be the exact same color, from a mother who was actually a grey tabby?

...Those are Maine Coons in part? Heh, really don't look it.

Anyways, not sure what you want to know. they get to be extremely large, the second biggest cat next to the Norwegian forest. They chirrup, like you said, and generally have very long fur that needs a lot of brushing.
Personality depends on the cat though from what I can tell between my Coone and one my Gramma used to own they're rather 'one-person' kitties.

...both also love bread products. Mine is always stealing croissants, waffles, bread, baguttes, etc....likes them even better I think than the tuna casserole the bowl of which he is licking dry at this moment... At least he didn't knock that out of my hand then run off with it to his hidy hold under the desk like he did with a waffle...

Anyone elses' Maine Coones like bread stuffs?

I have 2 Maine Coon cats, 2 of them with the same small patch of black hair on the skull, with another 4 year old cat. (I can't recall the name)

They're pretty finnacky eaters, but not horrid. They'll eat something if you give to them on the table, but if you put it on their plate, they'll turn their nose at it.

Yeah, I've had people ask me if they were russian blues, but they have yellows eyes, so they're not. They're both really well-behaved cats, Yoda being more fresh and spunky than Whiny, who, while still freindly, is more shy, and keeps to herself.

Anyone have any pictures of their maine coones?

My cats d0on't have any particular affinity to bread products, although they like playing with their food. Yoda also really REALLY likes to play in/with water. I've found her parked in my sink, playing with the faucet to turn it on.

my cat is concidered a common european short-hair-mix-thingie, while her sisters, from the same litter, were pure-breed norwegian forest catts (or whatever they're called in english)

Yes, Maine Coons like water don't they? I am definitely getting a Maine Coon when the time arrives. Big goofy friendly giants, with a funny chirp.

Make sure you get a boy, they're more socialable. My own is always one of the first to greet me when I return home.

Since the dragon looked cool as well (although one of the 13 cats who has lived in the house over the years did die by impaling itself on the dragon. :/

Maine Coons are big friendly doofuses of cats, which is a Good Thing because they're quite strong and agile; one could tear you apart if it ever got mad. They're also a long-lived breed--my Furball here is 17 and still healthy.

Oh yeah, and you're going to want to brush them. A lot. Every day, if possible--as much as they can stand it. Maine Coons are shedding machines; they're re-carpet your house in their fur if you don't groom them regularly. Needless to say they're also prone to hairballs, unfortunately.
