What bird is this? It's been living in my yard for years. It chases after my cats. It's not afraid of anything.
It might have been several different birds from the same family but I don't know.

I'd say it is a Mockingbird.

honestly that's exactly what I (the OP) thought but he only seems to make one type of call.

Maybe that's the call he makes when you're around. When I was young, there was a mockingbird that would perch on the stopsign at my bus stop. He had at least a dozen calls, most of which consisted of garbled curse words (More like "Uh hoo huh huh huhher" than "fuck you motherfucker" etc but we knew what he was saying) and belching sounds. He did a pretty good "wolf whistle" and a few dog barks. Now I've got a young one that fell out of it's nest in my yard that whines like a dog to get it's parents to bring it food.

Responding to the first part of your post, since it's near my house and I have windows open I think I would hear other calls.
But after googling mockingbirds I do say it looks exactly like one. I only wish it had more calls.

You might think that's what you want, but you're wrong

Mocking birds are awesome. Once when I was seven and living in Mississippi, two mocking bird families built nests on either side of the gate to a public playground. I first met them when they swarmed and attacked me as I tried to enter the park.
