But anyway, can /an/ fill me out on the whole morals part of the thumbcats issue.

My impression was that thumbcats is one of the "safer" forms of polydactyly. For the "afflicted" individual it means they run a tiny bit slower, but are better climbers and can grasp things better. A fair tradeoff from the cat's point of view.

But is there some sort of catch? I know some organisations (mainly german) are BAWWWWWW'ing about it, but is it just because they want an easy to administer ban on on all sorts of polydactyly, or is there some sort of harmful sideffect when trying to breed the thumbcat trait true?
