alright /an/, heres the deal i got this new kitten and i like to pet it alot and stuff. ionno im not really a cat person, but i like to put it on my chest and pet it but theres one problem, it always gets comfortable and sinks its little claws in my chest. im thinking of getting it decalwed, will vets do it? if so how much does it cost? its really becoming a problem because every time i put it on my chest and pet it it makes this weird noise and starts sinking its claws into me. pic related, its my cat, 5 minutes ago.

Declawing is cruel.

Obviously, trim the cat's nails so that they're not sharp.

She's kneading you because she's happy and likes you, and she's getting comfortable because she thinks she's safe.

There's plenty of alternatives to declawing the cat. I always feel bad that my mom got all three of ours declawed, but I was only in 9th grade at the time and didn't really have a say.

Declawing is extremely painful for cats, and it leaves them utterly defenseless.

What? Being about ten times bigger than a cat not enough advantage for you, so you have to mutilate it, so YOU won't get hurt?

Don't be an ass.

Just trim it's claws every few weeks.

Apart from humane reasons delawing nearly always results in physical ailments and behavioral issues later in life (for example, declawed cats won't mark their territory with their paws and will resort to pissing on everything). It's better to invest in a spray bottle than to pay to have it declawed, have it piss and shit all over your home, and then later have to pay further avoidable vet bills.
