I just got a kitten. I would have uploaded a picture of him i took with my cell phone but i can't get a signal inside my house to e-mail it to myself. The question I want to ask is that, when it gets older, how do i successfully transfer it to be an outside cat. What do I have to do to make sure it doesn't just take off forever.

ITT: Anon wants a kitty for cuteness, but doesn't want to deal with the adult cat.

Just do what I do bro. Throw them out (in the trash can) after about 3 months and get another kitty. I've been doing it for like 5 years and nobody's said shit except the animal shelter, they love me. I am always paying them!

In all seriousness, let it know that your place is where fresh food is, and they normally come back. My last cat (unneutered male) was away for three days exploring new things before he got tired and attention starved enough to come back home the first time i put him outside. But if you live in the city, please keep it an inside cat. There's enough roadkill as it is...
