Unknown bites, please help! Anonymous
I've got 12 insect bites on my right leg and I have no idea what they're from. At first I thought they were simply flea bites and that they would go away in about a week or so. But I've had these bites for about 4 days now and they've just gotten worse. I think they could be spider bites since I've seen a lot of spiders in my room. My joint is really stiff and the bites don't itch very much, it just feels as if someone keeps kicking me with a steel-toed shoe over and over again. My leg has swelled up a little as well. I'm just hoping that maybe you guys could help me out by identifying if it is a spider or a flea or something else. I'm planning on going to the doctor's tomorrow.
PLEASE HELP!

I doubt many here will be able to help. They look like flea bites, but I'm no expert. In which country do you live? Do you sleep with legs exposed? Have you had a bad reaction to mosquito bites? It is strange that they are in a straight line. There is a poison information phone service in Australia, check the Yellow Pages directory in your country for anyone that could help.

Bedbugs?

101349 here.
I remember getting awful reactions to mosquito bites, but they got better as I grew up. I'd say it's a pretty big clue, if your Mom gets a bad reaction as well. Call poison information or a doctor today anyway. If you want to slowly get rid of spiders in your room, there are mosquito mats (here in Australia) that you place in a small electric heater. They kill mosquitos within 20 minutes, and unofficially, drive away most spiders after a few days.

Bedbugs are also INCREDIBLY rare in the US and Europe, where I assume OP is from.

If you're worried about bugs in your room, just do all your laundry and while your sheets are washing, get a "bug bomb" (aka "fogger") and set it off in your room. problem solved.

If your reaction is serious go to the hospital immediatly. Even if it turns out not to be something critical at least they can tell you what the hell it is.

Anon believes they may be infected ingrown hairs.

Don't shave your legs!

OP's legs are sexy. if OP is a girl, then i'd play doctor with her.
if OP is a boy, then op is gay.

Swelling = possible infection

You should see a doctor.

There is no cure for AIDS, smartass.

probably spider. possibly ants. the poison would cause the swelling. the no itch thing makes me lean way toward spider.

being half way through my first year at University, studying medicine, i honestly cant say what it is. then again i have only been at Uni for 6 months now.
judging from your legs, they look shaven.
1. How recently did you shave them?
2. If the shaving time was close to when the bites first appeared, (ie: within a week) then it looks to me like a few ingrown hairs.
But it would be best to see a proper doctor just to be sure.
In b4 its lupus.

You made the right choice asking us 4chan, as everyone here is certified doctors. Def not ingrown hairs. Probably snake bites. Lots of them.

If your room smells sweet and somewhat funny, you might have bedbugs.

...Or weed.

I get them, ingrown hairs, pop them, and "fish" the hair inside thme out with a pin, that's what i do and I am not dead.
if you can't stand the pain of squeezing go staight to popping them with a pin/needle and fishing the hair out. one the hair is out the redness goes away in under 24hours. don't go to the doc waste of time, they will go WTF LOL.

I find it strangely satisfying to do that

Monkeys enjoy picking lice and flees.
Humans did that too, so popping zits is a substitute that triggers the same instinct.

OP here. Alright, well, I went to the doctor and he said that they aren't bites at all. He says that it's an infection. Also, the reason why they are in a line (slightly curving and whatnot) is because its following a vein or something. He gave me two prescriptions but he says that they still look very suspicious to him.
I may need another doctor's opinion.

1. Last time I shaved my legs was June 1.
2. I know what an ingrown hair looks like. This is not an ingrown hair.

And bed bugs are not incredibly rare, especially if you travel and hit hotels.

Take a look to see under the folds of the edges of your mattress and around the outsides for blood stains.

They are horrible to kill off, but there seems to be an epidemic going on at many hotels. They live in the mattress and any sort of cloth around it from what I remember.

My thoughts, from someone with a lot of health issues:>>101529is proably right. Get a second opinon, though cellulitis IS an infection.

Is it forming things that look like blisters? (I can't tell so well from the picture) Were you working outside near rose bushes or If so, it may be a fungal infection..which can be really bad, slow to heal, spread fast, and can get in your blood.

Regardless, take your meds and see another doctor, just in case.

No blisters whatsoever are forming. I wasn't working anywhere near rose bushes. But I did get a mani-pedi the day before. It may be some infection that I got there.
