Dear /an/,

I have recently found a baby opossum, little over 4 inches in length, and I cannot put it back where I found it.

Have any Anons here had experience in raising opposums? I'm researching diet, as I hear they're really tricky when it comes to feeding them. Does anyone have a good diet plan that they know will work? Good resources?

Thanks, /an/.

Call wildlife rescue in your area. That's the best you can do.

Opossums actually don't carry that.

Have you googled some stuff? You can raise them, but they only last a few years- very short lifespan.

Yeah, I have. The only free diet information for older possums I found is from OSUS: 90% high-grade cat food and 10% is misc stuff that is good for them, like sardines and fat-free yogurt. I also read that it is important to maintain a Calcium:Phosphorus of 1.5:1. Does that sound about right?

My mothers friend takes in baby possums, so I guess I could go see what she does and how hers are doing.

I realize that they don't live very long, much like a rat. I'll do my best for her.

The one near us doesn't want possums or coyotes. There's probably somewhere that would take her, but it'd be a ways off, seeing as we live in the middle of nowhere. I'll do that if she becomes to much to handle.
