My mother is not a pig disgusting. If she was a pig disgusting, she would be a ball python.

I bought my adult male for $40 last spring.

Yeah they are fairly cheap. I believe my ex got mine for about $50. Just be smart and buy or build a large terrarium for it right off the bat... a 55 gal tank with a big heating rock, large house, and a soaking/drinking bowl for it is a good start. Of course you'll need a heat lamp for a big tank too.
Just remember there's no point in starting small, you'll wind up buying bigger stuff later.

Beware of heat rocks, they can be dangerous and burn your snake easily. Also, heat lamps tend to dry out the air too much.. They need some humidity.

Best option is to buy some Flex Watt and a thermostat and use that. http://www.bigappleherp.com/Flex-Watt-Heat-Tape

You dont need that big of a tank, a 20-30gallon would be adequate for an adult, a 10 gallon would be good for a hatchling. No point in spending extra money for something you dont need.

Also, anyone who uses heat rocks is a fucking irresponsible keeper, they easily overheat and kill your snake. Heat lamps are also not needed(snakes dont absorb heat through their backs), get a undertank heater(zoomed is preferred brand) that fits about 1/3 of the tank. Then put a hide on the hot side and one on the cool side, this way it can safely regulate its own temperature while not being stressed. Then a water dish in the centre refilled with fresh water daily. Make sure you have a secure lid as they can escape quite easily, if you dont have a locking lid, placing some heavy stuff on top works too(I myself have a bunch of my old textbooks on top of the tank).
