Hey /an/

I found a cat living outside. She is small, intelligent and very friendly, but she doesn't have a collar or a microchip. I have decided to keep her and get her checked out by the vet, registered and chipped. Our current cat of 6 years is about twice her size, male (desexed) and unaccepting of change. They have separate litter trays, bowls and spots for sleeping but they still hiss and growl at each other (it is quite funny to watch) but they never attack. The small new cat is much smarter than the old big cat, by the way.

Any ideas? Does it matter?

They will get used with each other. If you want blood, try bounding rabbits.

gradual introduction is good. try keeping them in separate parts of your house when you're not around. make sure you are near when they interact. pet your older guy and talk softly to him when he's hissing, make sure he knows that you're not replacing him, and not mad at him for letting the new girls know who's boss. don't neglect the new girl either. take turns soothing each one. they'll learn to get along, it'll just take some time. i have an older cat and he hisses at cats outside that get too close to our windows, just very protective old fart.
good luck OP
