Our professor asked us if there's a fish who could breathe on land. I told him there is. And he argued that there is none. I insisted that it exists. He failed me on the subject.

What. An. Idiot.

Mudfishes (the fish that Mudkip was based on). They are small (up to about 15 cm) freshwater fish that have become specialised for life in a distinctive type of habitat – swamps, drains, and forest pools that tend to dry up in summer. They can exist in these habitats because they have the ability to aestivate during dry summers. The lungfishes have this ability too but I guess my idiotic professor on biology have forgotten it too. What a joke.

Mudkip is based on salamander larvae such as the axolotl.

# Snakehead fish (Channidae): This family of fish are obligate air breathers, breathing air using their suprabranchial organ, which is a primitive labyrinth organ. The Northern Snakehead has a limited capacity to wriggle over notbatrachus) of Southeast Asia, can "walk" on land by wriggling and using its pectoral fins, this allows it to move between the slow-moving, and often stagnant and temporary bodies of water in which it lives. Another amphibious species of this family is the Eel catfish (Channallabes apus), which lives in swamps in Africa, and known to hunt beetles on land.[2]

# Labyrinth fish (Anabantoidei). This suborder of fish also use also use a labyrinth organ to breathe air. Some species from this group can move on land. An amphibious fish from this family is the Climbing gourami, an African and Southeast Asian fish that is capable of moving from pool to pool over land by using its pectoral fins, caudal peduncle and gill covers as a means of locomotion. It is said that climbing gourami move at night in groups.

That too. There are some other fishes who could breathe air as well. And honestly, I knew this fact since I was 6. I have no idea what the college was thinking when they hired that bumbling fool.

At this point I would do one of the following:

1) Abuse some loophole to get him fired
2) Trash his car/house
3) Sleep with his wife

There is a fish that don't live in water, if you trow it in water it will jump out again. I saw this on Guinness Book but I don't remember it's name (it looks like a worm)

Send those and "Say take that bith!"

Whoever the FUCK got the rap for this should be given a fucking pat on the back. Teacher's an idiot and a pompous ass; probably likes the sound of his own voice. I'd do the same damn thing, including looking it up, shoving the book in his face, and then waiting for a reply.

It's actually based on both, kind of like Squirrel+Turtle=Squirtle only not so obvious. It has an Axolotl head and a Mudskipper tail.

Is that a Philosophy class?

In my school, this old professor used to argue that crocodiles are amphibians, since they can live both on land and water.

Let me guess, he belongs to the 16% of biology teachers who are young earth creationists? They tend to have problems with fish able to breathe air...

He's 70 yrs old, and thinks that like wikipedia, all websites could be easily edited/ 'hacked' by someone, like moi. He's really old, so old that he doesn't use computers. Our university is also ancient and relies on old school types of teaching. Only in our 3rd/4th year are we taught to use the modern technical stuffs. Sucks ass, I know.

If you serious rage that much about it, contest the grade. Go above his head.

Whatever you do though, for christ sakes man, don't use Wikipedia as a source...EVER in academics. It's not a valid source. Use EBSCO host to prove that old fuck wrong.

1. Don't discuss with him.

2. Ask him again and record all this to have proof.

3. Post this shit every where, in the school, in the internet, in my space making fun of him and not rage.

4. ?????????????

5. PROFIT! (or revenge)

also there is the anabantiod family of fish, siamese fighter and stuff have a labrynth(lung), making them able to breath air whilst out of water. sounds like one dimwit of a teacher to me!!
>> Masterwork Bastard !wl59mComes
You will now go to a library and take all animal books that you can find that have mention of such fishes as mudskipper, lungfish, snakehead fish or what have you. You will then go to the asshole and present him evidence. If he says "no", you can now take this to a higher level. Actually you could take it anyways, but that would be without hassle.
For extra lulz, have the rotting fool sign up a paper saying there are no fishes that can breathe on land.

There are some catfishes that can survive out of waterdue to having simple lungs, and other wierdass fish have this sort of thing, like mudskippers.
>> Anonymous
Well, there are no terrestial fish, but a handful of amphibious ones.

Don't use lungfish as an example though, they actually do use their small underdeveloped gills still.

And by the way, there is a known fossil of a half fish/frog creature, which you can shove into his face if you want to.

that plus mudskipper fish

the Pirarucu has a specialized air sac which acts as a lung, they have gills but apparently they no longer use them past the early days of its life
