Do Dogs even chase Cats anymore?

I NEVER see it now... There's more of a respected curiousity between them...

When I used to have a cat (regular tabby) and a dog (standard schnauzer) I would hear them chasing each other during the night time when everyone was in bed. Though to me it sounded like my cat chased my dog more often than my dog chased my cat.

The dog my family fostered for a while last year always tried to play with our cats, we had to get him to leave our male cat alone before said cat tried to gouge an eye...

Same here.

Since then our retarded neighbors keep their cats indoors.

A real story from our neighborhood: My mom's friend has this hueg black cat, and her neighbor has a terrier. For years the terrier would chase the cat up a tree every time it got loose. However, lately the cat has become old and decrepit not to mention nearly deaf. When the terrier came to chase her again this summer, the cat would just sit there on the porch and stare at him. The poor dog didn't know what to do! He's never tried to chase the cat afterwards, apparently since all the fun is now gone.

We'll be getting a puppy in a couple of months, but since the dog will be smaller than the cats even when it's an adult, i think amusement is going to ensue.

On an almost related story, a house a couple of doors along from us bought a rabbit a few weeks ago. They didn't have a hutch for it so they just let it roam around their garden day and night. Then they were surprised when they saw one of our cats chasing this rabbit around the garden, so they started throwing rocks at it and fucking broke one of our shed windows. I mean, really, what did they expect...

My dog will chase our cats whenever we yell at them for doing something.

Really funny, considering our cats are larger than the dog.
