Mange is a parasitic infestation of the skin of animals. There are two types of mange, Demodectic and Sarcoptic. The former kind is easier to treat, and can be combatted with antibiotics and medicated shampoos as well as parasiticidal agents. For example, Amitraz is a parasiticidal rinse that is licensed for use in many countries for treating canine demodicosis. It is applied weekly or biweekly, for several weeks, until no mites can be detected by skin scrapings.
The latter, however, is highly contagious, and is more commonly known as canine scabies. For that one, you're going to need to keep him isolated from other dogs, along with his bedding, as it is highly contagious. Your vet can help you with the finer details and can diagnose which type it is. Good luck.
