I might seem like a pussy, but this turned me into a vegetarian at 14 years-old. I'm 18 now, don't regret it once.
The average vegetarian saves 92 animals a year.
>> stabby
the problem isn't the meat, it's the factory farming.
>> Anonymous
>>231888
no it doesnt due to the people eating three extra.
>> Anonymous
thats sick and sad...
>> Anonymous
>>231900

What? That made no sense. It still saves 92 animals, because even if you eat 3 extra, I'm still saving them. It's your choice if you want to stuff your face and have a fucking heart attack.
Less gluttons in the world.

You know those crops you are eating? Ok, well do you understand how a farmer harvests those crops? The process kills many, many, many more animals than the meat industry could.

First it was only vegetarians, but now the Christian church is also going against meat. They claim that eating meat makes someone desire sex faster.

Also, I like meat. It tastes great. Wouldn't want to give it up, ever.

The problem isn't the farming, the abuse, or any of the above.

The problem is overpopulation. Even if everyone were to immediately switch to vegetables, you'd still need to mass produce the fuck out of making it of less and less quality each time.

There are so many people on the planet that it is physically impossible to feed them all and not abuse those animals in mass.

After all, that fat guy at Mcdonalds isn't going to feed himself.

It's going to be fucking fantastic. Now the entire world will be all fucked up like India where social caste systems depend on how strict a vegetarian diet you belong to, and all sorts of other bullshit, causing civil strife.

And really, do you see India being a first world country, any time soon?

I myself come from a culture where I can still tell apart who USED to be in the lowest caste by their surnames. I wish that wasn't the fucking case.
>> Anonymous
is it just me or do a lot of those farmers look foreign?
>> Anonymous
Wow. Lots of idiots in this thread.

If a fucking internet website makes you change your views entirely and become vegetarian, you are easily convinced, aren't you?

I have these magic beans to sell you too.
>> Anonymous
>>231988

Why settle for magic beans when you can sell an entire bridge?
>> Anonymous
Not every farm is like this, though.
My uncle works at a local dairy supplier, and they only have free-range dairy cows and they're all healthy.
>> Anonymous
Fuck vegetarians.
>> Anonymous
The footage in the video is sickening, but the commentary and the plead to become a vegetarian at the end are obnoxious propaganda that made me willing to eat EVEN MORE meat just to fuck with PETA.

But seriously, It seems we need something to slim down the human population a bit to avoid such barbarities (As>>231890said, the problem is HOW we do it, not WHAT we are doing, we are natural born predators and we have a need to eat meat. And as>>231985said, facory farming is caused by overpopulation, as it demands to produce goods en masse with industrial methods, lowering the quality, control and ethics). A little nuclear war or mass sterilization would be in place.
>> Anonymous
>>232038
No. No I like the human population at 6.8 billion and rising, for reasons that you are probably unwilling to comprehend. What you SHOULD be doing is slaughtering PETA activists by the truckload.
>> Anonymous
We have more than enough room for our population so I don't know what the fuck you people are talking about.
>> Robbox
I've learned to never trust anything even remotely related to PETA.

Like when China offered to prosecute people furring animals alive based on a video PETA made. PETA refused to give an unedited copy and the name of the people involved, so nothing happened. Why? The most reasonable explanation is that they made it themselves.

Much like that ridiculous "They Ground Cows ALIVE!" video I seen from them. A very dead cow was ground up, with a horrible dub of Mooing to make it seem like the cow was alive. Regardless of the fact that it never once moved on it's own, just flopped about like a freshly dead cow.

Nothing wrong with eating meat, it's no different then eating vegetables. Both are living things, you just feel it's ok to eat vegetables because they evolved on a different route then us animals and you can't relate to them. Both are living things, and unless your eating minerals, your still killing something.
>> Anonymous
>>232126

Ummmm....vegetables were never, and aren't alive. Maybe there's organisms on the surface, but vegetables are most certainly not alive in any way.

You know, they do add a whole bunch of "while still conscious, while still alive" bs in the video. Think about it for a second. It tell you that the cow got their throat slit while still conscious, okay I give them that. And then they tell you they are skinned and grounded alive, while still conscious. Are they stupid or something? Are they trying to tell us that the slit throat part doesn't kill the cow or something? Are we suppose to forget the horrific scene that they try so hard to hammer into our head about 2 seconds ago?

posting whilst high fails me again.

Almost on topic: Anyone see the Oprah thing about puppy mills? It's well intentioned, but the hypocrisy of it all made me gag. The dude kept comparing the puppies to "livestock" as if everything else we raise commercially is undeserving of humane treatment. Not trying to sound like a petafag, but I say animal welfare is an all-or-nothing deal.

Processing a cow alive sounds fishy to me. Cows are powerful, powerful bastards. I've raised them, I've seen what they can do. Putting them through a machine alive runs the risk of having your machinery destroyed. Remember, the name of the game is to get as much product made a possible with minimal cost to the provider. Getting an employee injured by a bovine or having equipment destroyed by a flailing beast is going to cost money and time.
And I doubt a cow is going to be mooing after having its throat slit. More of a raspy, gasping, gurgling sound as it chokes on its own blood.
>> Anonymous
>>232576

The "they grind them up alive" argument was that after the cattle were bolt-gunned, they were still conscious, but too stunned to move. There have been records of cows jumping up and trying to take off, but it's certainly not standard, that would be too hazardous to be a common thing. This was in some book that had nothing to do with PETA, and they fagged all over it and have over exaggerated a lot.
>> Anonymous
>>232492

Uh, how about NO? Animal welfare should most definitely NOT be an all-or-nothing deal.

If you feel like stepping on an ant to crush and kill it, are you worried about being busted for animal cruelty? Probably not. If you step on a fucking PUPPY to crush and kill it, you better goddamn well be worried about it. Farmers might kill chickens at the slaughterhouse in front of each other. But can you imagine doing that to gorillas, who actually have concepts of death and loss?

There is absolutely NO reason why animals can and should not be tiered based on things such as sentience.

lol @ all the people so goddamn worried about this fake-ass shit.

yes, there are a few shitty farms out there. guess what? they're the only ones the peta faggots would ever go to to film, because showing the others doesn't advance their political agenda.

no, i haven't looked at that web site, but I've seen meet your meat. same thing.

have fun being manipulated by political organizations that don't give a shit about what they claim to.
