How can I get rid of a wasp nest without being stung? I've tried with a broom and instantly about ten flung themselves at me and two managed to fly inside my room before closing the window.

kill it with fire

My local garden center sells these fake wasp nests you hang next to the real one. The wasps supposedly leave their nest shortly afterward. Seems plausible enough.

pour gas or lighter fluid on it or spray it with hair spray and their hair get hard and then they can't move

What you never killed a wasp nest? Either get some hot shot or use a water hose the water will make it hard for them to fly so move in for a good smashing then.

What kind of wasp nest? Paper wasps you can knock down with a broom, as long as you drop the broom IMMEDIATELY and remain PERFECTLY STILL as they're swarming around they won't notice you. They will sting the fuck out of that broom though. They sense motion, so if you don't move it's like you're not there. A friend of mine's dad gets rid of them this way, but he is also Cajun. This technique worked when the same friend threw a pine cone at a nest when he was a kid.
