Hey sup /an/

My hisser nymphs are suddenly becoming rebellious and keep trying to escape their tanks. I have two glass tanks with screen tops which are secured pretty good (duct tape lol). I put petroleum jelly around the top to prevent climbing, which keeps the adults down but not the little ones.

Most of the time they just chill on the bottom of the screen, but twice I've found a nymph sitting outside the tank. I guess they make their getaway when I open the top to feed them.

Anyway, any idea how I could keep these little fuckers in? I thought about putting double sided tape around the top, above the jelly, but I really don't want to kill any.

in b4 kill them with fire or enjoy your infestation

Easy on the petroleum jelly. If you run out of lube your boyfriend will be angry.

I suggest killing them all, before they do escape and carry you and your loved ones away into the night

Fit them all with a special radar tracking device.
Profit.

why do you house these? feed to other pets?

Not OP, but yes people breed them to use as feeders. I have a bearded dragon and will soon switch from crickets to roaches. They are healthier, cleaner, quieter, and easier to breed than probably any other feeder insect out there.

If you want a use full idea here is one i used for my 45 gall river tank to keep the humidity and crickets in the tank.
Get a busted screen of your poor ass house, that's what i did, and take it apart and cut the sides to length of the inside of the rim that is in the tank. Cut a notch it of it for the cords and fill that in with silicon to seal it so it will be bug tight. Add the screen with the screen roller tool cut, off the excess and put a rim of smooth packing tape around the screen that way the crickets or whatever can not climb on it, I'd add some "ass lube" to the tape just to make that work better. Put that on the inside of the tank top rim and then your normal screen back on it they will fit perfectly. I added a small PVC pipe with a trap door to it so you can feed Without opening the lid.
A lot of work but it is well worth it.

I heard of people keeping them for pets. I guess they're interesting to watch? I know my crickets are sometimes more interesting than most of my reptiles, lol.

Yeah, and they're easy to take care of and handle. I'd like to move on to other more advanced insects like mantises later, but for now I'll stick to my roaches.

Plus it keeps people out of my room.

I used to keep them as pets. When well fed and kept warm they can actually be quite interesting at night time, especially when they fight.

I'll start breeding my own roach colony also in a couple of months. Not as pets, but as dinner for a hungry dragon.
Will either breed dubia's or discoids.
