Hello /an/. This is my gentleman cat. When I got him a few months ago, I noticed a few black bugs. I didn't think they fleas but now I know they are. A week or two ago, I gave him and his ladycat flea drops you put on the back of their necks and that appeared to solve the problem. Tonight, however, I notice MORE fleas in his tummy and on his lip. He is only 3 months old and I'm wondering if it's safe to give him a flea bath at this age. The lady cat is over a year, so she is getting one too. Thank you for your help. Also, I'm kind of poor right now since the lady cat ate up 200 dollars treating some yeast infection in her stupid ear but I'm willing to try other methods of getting rid of fleas (Please say shaving. I've always wanted to shave a cat.).

FUCK SHIT CUTE CAT, GODDAMN

A flea bath should be safe for him, but be careful not to submerge his head, or get too much in his ears/mouth/eyes/etc.

And may I say, HOLY HELL FUCK SHIT CUTE

Scratch that, don't get ANY bath water in the aforementioned areas.

Get a flea comb and comb them both thoroughly every day. They'll love it and it'll get rid of fleas and eggs. Keep a cup of rubbing alcohol nearby to drown the fleas.

Also vacuum your rugs to suck up any fleas and eggs.

I'd strongly recommend that in addition to treating your cats you flea bomb your house. If they're outside cats keep 'em in; if they're going outside they will keep visiting the places where they picked the fleas to begin with, over and over again and you will be fighting a never ending battle. If you keep just treating the cats they're going to infest the house and you will never get rid of them.

I have heard of oral medications that get rid of fleas, but I don't know if they're suitable for cats. When you get some money up it might be a good idea to go back to the vet and ask him about these.

You didn't specify what drops you gave the cats. If you gave them a supermarket brand I've heard that they generally don't work and you really need something like Frontline or Advantage. If you gave them Frontline or Advantage and they're still getting fleas it seems very likely that there's a major infestation somewhere. Again, flea bomb your house and make sure you do it properly. Stop them from going outside and restrict their access to other animals.

Picture related, it's the lady cat after I accidentally gave her a bath with me.

Yeah they were like 8 bucks for 4 droppers. I think I'll try the flea bath + comb thing and if that doesn't work, get Advantage. We used Advantage on our old cats and it worked great. They are indoor cats but they were both strays/rescued cats when I got them.

I giggled.

You shouldn't ignore fleas on a kitten, they can easily become anemic and die.

When I first got my kitten she was riddled with fleas and because she was young I didn't trust using any type of chemical on her.

I just used a flea comb that can be found at any pet supply place, even the pet supply isle at walmart.. Then washed her with dawn. I made sure to leave the soap on her for 5 minutes before rinsing. Then all I had to do was comb her and pick out all the dead or dying fleas. She hasn't had any since, but she's also an indoor kitty.

Fleas drown in water you really don't need to add anything to the bath water. Just dunk them in a warm bath, brush them and keep your house vacuumed. You might have to repeat treatment of the drops once but that usually takes care of it. It stifles the life cycle of the fleas so they will die out in a few weeks.

Are you the anon from that "what do you call your pet" thread a few months ago who said he called them "the little gentleman" and "the little lady" or something like that?

Because that's adorable. And so are your cats. Good luck with 'em.

Yeah haha, that was probably me. But they are such fancy cats. Look at that little black and white fucker, he's wearing a suit. All the time. Gonna go out and get that flea comb today! Thanks for your help guys! I'll probably take pictures of wet cats in the bath bwahaha.

Here's another one of my ladycat in her fancy catscarf. I want to shave her so bad.

She has such a nice pelt, though, why would you want to rid her of that? Also, it would take her very long for it to grow back, since she's a short hair.

She looks so classy!

Ah also don't worry about doing the flea bomb. A good vacuuming and treatment with the drops like you're doing will kill them all off. Both of my cats had fleas, both got a bath and then Frontline, all the house needed was a vacuuming and about a week or two later we were flea free. Been free of fleas ever since.

I just find shaved cats so funny. I know I'd like, shave her and then ten minutes later be like, okay start growing fur again.

:3
>>337160
Yeah, I wasn't going to do the bomb thing, I've never done it ever and I'm afraid something might go wrong.

OP, you are a terrible person.

All you need to do now is get him a small black collar and fashion a little black bowtie out of construction paper or felt and you'll have the perfect lil gentleman. :)

I hope their fleas go away!

I made a wet cat collage. I forgot to take pictures of the babycat while he was in the bath/drying him off but I got a few of the ladycat. I needed to fill space so I put in a trashcat too.

Oh yeah, I forgot to explain what I did. I ran some bath water, just enough to dunk them without getting their little angel heads wet, then took a washcloth with some flea shampoo and scrubbed and then rinsed them off. Then I dried them and my boyfriend held them while I combed them. But weird thing, I didn't find a single flea. A few little black spots that didn't look like fleas but maybe poops. I combed EVERYWHERE and I didn't find a single flea. But when they were dry, before the bath, I combed the gentleman and found two in ONE swipe. So what happened? Did the fleas just get disintegrated? Also they are so soft now :3

Did you check the towel or the bath water? Usually fleas will try burrowing into the towel if they're not dead yet, also they die really easily when submerged in water
>> Anonymous
>>337638
I didn't think about that, hope that's the case because the towel is currently in boiling hot water in the washing machine with bleach

Fleas lay eggs. Eggs hatch. More fleas.

OP should post more pics of the little gentleman.

Well okay. Here he is sleeping in my arms when he was about 5 weeks old. He's older now though, but he still sleeps anywhere and everywhere.

Popular flea treatments can be started after 7 weeks old.

For my rescue kitten (Spandy) we found her outside at 5 weeks, so we had to wash her with antibacterial dish soap. It would kill or immobilize the fleas on her so we could comb them off.

You can always use DAWN.

What a little angelcat ;~; that's how big the gentleman was when I got him. I have plenty of dish soap, I haven't seen any fleas running around though since I washed them, not that I'm complaining, but I'd give them another bath. I'm sure they'd love it.
>>338254
OH GOD I LOVE THE SMELL OF DAWN.
