extremely dangerous from what little i know about them so i don't know why the fuck the guy in the picture is holding one.

I petted one of these once.

I heard that if one of those Vespa Mandarinas would sting for example in one's arm, it would feel like thrusting a hot nail through the sting place.

they do have long stingers with LOTS of venom
what's worse though is that their sting leaves behind an attack pheromone which effectively marks you as a threat (or prey?) to other V mandarinias. Fun times if you happen to stray near a nest...

I took a picture like that, its store on a cd somewhere, but anyways it was me holding the bee on my thumb it would have stayed like hours if I didnt try to let her off, all because i saved it from drowning. Yeah thats the most rewarding lifesaving experience I got as a lifeguard on some retarded camp ground

Yellow Jackets are Vespas too

(for those of you who don't get the joke, this guy is Cronicle Asher from Victory Gundam, who led a squadron of MS pilots called the Yellow Jackets)

Anyone have info on what kind of wasps can be found in Greece?
My dad visited Greece last year and was stung several times by some wasp/hornet/bee local people informed were highly venomous and dangerous. Apparently more dangerous than your average yellowjacket wasp.
Oh, yeah, he almost died. What a way to find out you're allergic. Yay for adrenalin shots right in your thigh!
"Honey, what's wrong?"
"Blarg wheeze glomp!"
"What? A wasp stung you and you're in anaphylactic shock? Should I call for help?"
"Blup.
