My kitty died tonight, /an/.

I'm not sure what to do with myself.

Picture related, is her. Her name was Princess. She was a sweetie.

My condolences, OP. Princess looks like she wants to kill me in that pic, but I'm sure she was very loving. ;)

OP here.

I am too... she was a good friend. Had a habit of pawing at her water bowl until it tipped over, I could never break her of it. And for some reason, she had to paw her food OUT of the bowl, onto the floor, before she'd eat it. She was very strange, but very loving too.

I'm not sure what to do with her. She only died a few hours ago, and my landlord won't let me bury her in the backyard. Right now she's wrapped in a towel, resting in the coolest room of my apartment until tomorrow.

The other kitty in the picture is Lily, her sister. Who's fine, by the way. I don't think she realizes Princess is missing yet.

Bury her back there anyway, late at night, when the landlord wouldn't know.

Any boxes she liked sitting in? Put her in that. Try to fit one of her favorite toys or some treats in there. Try to pick a spot where un-earthing won't be too noticable, and dig deep. Talk to her, say goodbye, and go inside and be sad for a little while.

That's what I did. My kitty Chance (pictured) is buried under my bedroom window.

Thanks.

The truth is, I wasn't too keen on burying her in the backyard anyways.

Theres a nearby park I think I'll take her to. She didn't have anything she really hung out in, in particular... pretty much anything that was mine was hers, and anything that smelled like me was her favorite thing at the time. The places I sleep in, and hang out in, were the places she slept in, and hung out in.

I think I may call the local humane society and ask if they know anyone who might cremate her or something, the whole idea of leaving her in the ground to rot really bothers me.

I got my guinea pig cremated; he stays by his cage nearby the fireplace. It's the only home he knew, and i guess it makes me feel better too.

Sorry OP... I lost my cat a while back in January and never had the chance to bury her because the house was being foreclosed on so my family had to hurry up and leave. Plus we didn't have the money at the time to cremate her, apparently.

I miss her a lot.

Sorry for your loss, OP. And even though it might seem disrespectful, it's okay to put her in the refrigerator until you can put her to rest. It's just something you've got to do sometimes.

I'm lucky in that my family owns a property so I don't have to worry about what to do when my animals pass away. Having only rented places would be hard :/ Cremation is costly, but perhaps the way to go if you don't want to bury her in a place you'll pass on to a stranger.

:( Sad thread is sad.

My cat whom Ive had 16yrs is dying now...
Vet sez its simple old age, she has stopped eating virtually anything, and just drinks water, rarely moves around anymore...
Im not sure what I'm going to do, and lost her big sister 6 yrs ago

May I suggest a viking funeral?

Build a small boat out of wood, and stuff it with newspaper and cat. Pour something flammable on it, take it out to a lake, set it adrift, and set in on fire.

Listen to some Norwegian music, and toast Mead to Princess.
