American Siams are more neurotic than those from other countries. The reason being that European cats have "classic", stockier, body types, versus the hyper skinny elongated American cats. The differences can be compared to American vs European German Shephards (I seem to recall they actually call them a different name over there because of the differences.. Alastian? Something like that). The cats you see on TV are usually American bred.
Siamese are vocal. They want to be with one person, all the time. We're talking stalker-type affection. One of my cats is half Siamese, and she is.. special. If you walk into the room, she is chirping and moving to greet you. If she is tired and doesn't want to get up, she'll still "call" to you and reach out with a paw. If you sit down, she will sit on your lap, making noise the entire time. Everything she does has a noise. Despite all that, whenever I get sad, I can count on her for a cuddle and a conversation. It's a lot of fun to get her to "say" things, because she makes a different sound depending on where you pet her. Behind one ear while rubbing her chin gets her to say "Fuck you", behind the other ear while rubbing her back gets "go away".
If you want a cat, get one from a shelter. If you want something warm to hug and be with you forever, get a siamese. Because once you get it, you sure as hell can't get rid of it.
