Does the mama die?

Cuz she should, along with her hellspawn.

Proper application of a good sized boot should cure them of their living-sickness.

Congrats on the growth of your colony. Are they pets or just feeders?

That reminds me I was going to make a bigger Blaptica dubia colony today, and a soldier fly colony.

Well make sure you keep them warm with a heat pad. They like tropical type heat, and I recommend cricket quencher for their drinking needs.

I also have read that bread is their favorite type of food, but I haven't noticed a preference for anything in particular myself.

I use mine to feed Jackson's chameleons, fire skinks, curly tailed lizards, and a crocodile skink.

how long do hissing roaches live?

They can live for over two years.

OP here. My roaches DEVOUR carrots and bread. I just put some bread in and 6 rushed over for a bite.

Also, I think half the nymphs have been eaten (to the joy of many here) because I can only see a few. Or maybe they're just hiding. And there seems to be an aborted ootheca (egg case) on the rock, so we won't be having another birth :[

Weird: Madagascar hissing roaches don't bother me (They actually act like honest-to-God friggen BUGS)

However, I think house roaches are the vilest, most loathsome, abominable insects on the face of the earth, outliving the dinosaurs BE DAMNED.

I HATE 'EM!!!!!

A friend of mine had a male that lived for four years. And I have two males that I've had since October of '06.

Also, I kind of envy the OP 'cause mine have yet to produce any babies. I'm seen them mating, but as of yet no nymphs, oothecas, nothing. Pretty sure it's just the temperature's too cold, so I'm not going to do anything about it unless they don't produce by August. Pic of Bianca (one of my females) related.

I'm thinking of getting some cockroaches, but for now all I have is crickets. Keeping them for food when my mantis eventually hatch.

Are hissing roaches bacteria carrying, filthy bugs like house roaches?
>> A.r. !!1J3JRobqN2a
>>238957
Hell no. As long as their housing is clean, they will be clean. They're also slow and can't fly (have no wings).
>> Anonymous
Stephen Golightly-Marmsy III is always a good name for a hissing cockroach. Unless it is a lady roch in which case it should be called Frank.
>> PosterParent !!JVEkaVAk0gQ
So they just emerge from their mother's ass or what?

Sorry for your loss, OP.

I'm getting a few spotted roachs this weekend (hopefully), I kept a pair before but this will be my first chance of starting a colony, I'd be interested to see how their behavior is different from your roaches so please keep an eye out for the thread.
