Kill it. Deer are wreaking havoc on US forests.

Deer murderer, here. Agreed on all fronts, there should be an open season on people.

read up on forest ecology, then come back plz.

Not abandoned- female deer always leave their fawns hidden nearby when they go to graze.

Congrats, dipshit - you've just destroyed a perfectly healthy wild animal and its family.

Nah, Venison's best done in a stew. The gaminess of it gets into the broth, it's just abso-fucking-delicious-lutely.

Yeah good job you retard. Deer leave their babes while they go off to feed, just like rabbits do. That faun was most likely not abandoned at all. Take it to a shelter.
>> INVALID
keep it
there's a guy down here who tamed one, named him Buddy, he's house broken too.
They put an orange dog collar on him because they let him roam and they live in a big game hunting area.
>> Anonymous
i feel sorry for that deer... just do it a favor and kill it now.

i don't understand people and their fascination with taking in wild animals that should be left on their own. if>>105592is right (which sounds highly probable, panda mothers are known to do the same thing, resulting in people taking in the cubs thinking they were abandoned), you're doing more harm than good.

eat it, or let it free to be eaten by some predator. whatever you do, just don't keep it.

Or take it to a wild life shelter.

Said baby deer was picked up on the side of the road, it's mother had been hit and killed by a truck.
closest animal aid for it's kind was about 4 hours away and they would've killed it.

Not all "keep its" are bad ya know.

Piss off, PETAfag.

Captive animals live longer, happier lives than wild ones. Go for the gold, and make that the most pimped-out hooved mammal on the block.

fawn is actually really delicious, and removing fawns from the population is a helpful form of control

Fawn I think was probably the best meat I have ever tasted

You know why you peta-cunts can go for your bike rides and nature trails out in the woods without getting your throat ripped out by wolves or a mountain lion? Natural predators are almost extinct in the wild, and as such, prey animal population is exploding, hence deer hunting season.

natural order, motherfuckers, do you know it?

on another note: DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWW
>> Anonymous
Don't keep a wild animal as a pet. Give it to one of those crappy roadside petting zoos...or eat it

Yeah, it would be best for wild animals to stay wild, without us intervening much. However, just because the OP took this deer does not mean that it is doomed for life... If he can take care of it.

OP, do as much research as possible. If you're unsure of how to take care of this animal, find someone who knows.

They watched it for like 2 days. It was abondoned.

fucking idiot.
there's a shit ton of captive animals that AREN'T happy in captivity, even if they are being well taken care of.

I'm sure it's just because I'm a sick person, but for some reason I just want to wail on that deer.

Does anybody else ever have the urge to seriously beat on and hurt baby animals? WTF is up with that?

I don't want to kill it or mutilate it - just smack it around a bit.

Anybody else ever get like that?

People around here keep deer as pets, they are actually really easy to tame. They supposedly make good pets, just make sure nobody shoots it. Put a bright orange collar on it or something.

Not only that but wild animals can have parasites of all sorts, even babies. You should run that guy by a vet before making any decisions.
>> Anonymous
>>105831
ITT a retard calling other people retarded. Maybe if you actually read and understood all of the posts, you would see that the deer who mother was hit by a car WAS NOT THE OP'S DEER. It was part of another poster's story.

Jesus Christ, way to look like a complete fucktard.
>> mmmmm Dude
well you should check on the laws for keeping wild game, native species. Their is a hefty fine I do believe. Once had a raven in my care and found out later you need to be licensed for that sort of thing.

They do carry ticks with lyme disease. Not a brain effecting disease, but it can kill you, and in the event they don't, you're infected with spyroketes (sp?). I ran into that once, felt like an extremely bad case of the flu. Forced myself to sleep for 4 days just to avoid feeling it. You do NOT want lyme disease.
>> Anonymous
1. Check on wildlife laws so you don't get owned.

2. If it's a buck, be aware that the deer will have no fear of humans once it's huge and has antlers, and may see you as a rival to be challenged.

3. Don't feed the deer cow's milk. I believe goat's milk is the closest you can get commercially. Deer have extremely sensitive stomachs so don't be surprised if Bambi ends up bloated (and possibly dead) depending on what you feed it.

4. At that young of an age, you will probably have to stimulate the deer to urinate and defecate because that's what its mother would have done. If you don't, the deer could become constipated and very ill.
>> Anonymous
Uh, happiness in animals is not really that hard. People seem to think they have some philisophical yearning for freedom. That's bullshit. Give them enough space to exercise and play and they are fine. Feed them right, give them shelter, give them space to exercise. Make sure they don't get too lonely. That's happiness.
>> Anonymous
>>106545
Really? I thought stimulation for urination and defacation was something mainly for animals that grew in pouches. Possums and such.
>> Anonymous
>>106565

No, baby rabbits need it done as well. If OP has to do it, a washcloth warmed with water will start the process.

Ive been thinking about geting a deer as a pet. Anyone have any suggestions? My only three options are to 1) Kidnap it. 2) Wait till a mom gets hit and then kidnap it. 3) See if the deer farm near my house is willing to sell or knows of a person who does.
