What's the deal with adopting kittens. Everywhere that I go is telling me that I need to adopt two kittens, even when I admit to them that I have nothing but free time. Is this nothing but bullshit? Do they just want to double their rate of adoption, and make an extra 80$? Is 120$ fairly standard for a kitten adoption? Most every place I go, ARF, the local County Animal Shelter, and a few cat adoption agencies.
it's true that a kitten will appreciate the company of another, and there are PLENTY of homeless animals that could use a home. I don't think it's all about money in this case.
Many of these places are crowded as hell and they operate with limited funds. Kittens and even adult cats keep coming in because of assholes who are too lazy to neuter their pets. Eventually the only option is to put them to sleep. It's not about money, it's about trying their best to avoid killing these poor creatures.
>>322628No, I understand what you're saying. Money isn't the issue, I just find it a little ridiculous that they're bargaining them away like that.
>>322629Yeah, I'll agree with you about that. The place that I checked out today was all foster based, so it's ladies operating out of their own homes. As far as kittens, how much more difficult is 2 4month old ones compared to one?
>>322632it's both easier and harder, kittens demand attention all the time, and if they have someone else to play with, that gives you are little break once in a while, but the destructive power increase 3fold.
Usually the 80-120 dollars issue is really just their medical bills/treatment. Now where I adopted my kitten they actually had where I could return him if he had any 'defects' within the year, and I could adopt another kitten.Thought it was a little messed up.
