Everybody has their own approach to raising their pets. I hate the pet elitists out there who think if you're not using the uniform approach that it must be abuse. I've had several kittens who had taken to biting me whenever possible. I'd say NO, use spray bottles, make loud noises and none of it worked. What did work, however, was popping them on the nose. Eventually, they'll get hit enough to learn that if my hand is raised in a certain way that they're doing something bad. When I didn't have to hit them, I'd reward them with affection. I think with cats if they realize that you, their human, loves them, they'll always want to show their love in return.
