Hey /an/ I was wondering, where do you go to get your pets?

We have six cats, two dogs, and a fish. Three of the animals are mine and the rest are my parents. All of the cats except the oldest were stray kittens we picked up off the street. The two dogs were picked up at the animal shelter together.

One's a toy poodle and the other is a Shepard retriever mix. The poodle was sick, underweight, and badly matted when I got her. Now she's healthy and happy.

My family's never bought anything except for very small animals like fish and hamsters from pet stores.

tl;dr What pets do you have and where do you get them?

and for you, a picture of the Shepard mix when she was a eight week old puppy getting her first bath.

Two cats, two dogs. All of them were rescued.

One dog we gott at the animal shelter, the other one was running in the streets. No-one has claimed it (we've had her for about 3 months), even though she was spayed and was trained.

One of the cats is deaf and we got her from my father's co-worker. The other cat was found by my brother while he was out bar hopping, and it turned out that she was pregnant.

rescued animals are usually the friendliest ones, because they're happy to have a home. So if you want one, visit the dog pound/animal shelter.

I got my hedgehog and betta fish from the pet store I work at. My two cats were rescues.

While I hate pet stores that sell puppies, don't be afraid to get a cat from a pet store anon plz! All of the pet stores that I know of get kittens that need homes and would be in the shelter/on the streets anyway, although they don't usually have a sign or anything. We take them to the vet, and sell them for not very much more than the price of a couple vet visits.

I suggest craigslist to my customers like 20 times a day though, just because in this area there's so many animals that need homes. Anybody asking me where they can buy a damn puppy gets sent straight there.

most of my parents cats (i think they're at 8 now) have been either the cats adopting them, been giving to them as a "i found this kitten at the corner store, can you find it a home", or offspring of the original stray mother.
i have 3 cats-Patty Cake we got from our old neighbor, Perseus was found on my husband's doorstep as a young kitten and i took him when we all moved out of his mother's, and the Tanto is the runt of patty's cake litter who was given to my goddaughter but they moved and so we took him back
