well, you could buy a proper, nice-size rat cage, put food in there and bedding, ect, some cloth and socks, and other necessities. When its time to feed him you could just drop some food through the bars. Cleaning the cage would be hard, though. You CAN keep a wild rat for a pet, but he wouldn't be a pet you could pet, hold, sit on your shoulder, ect. He's be like keeping a beetle for a pet; existing and looking neat. Except, you know, you could hold a beetle.
