Hay /an/

I want to buy a cat but I think I'm still allergic. When I was around 15 I suddenly got allergic for cats, dogs, guineapigs, go hayfever etc. Now age 20 I no longer suffer from hayfever but do occasion get itchy eyes (I don't have a really bad allergic reaction) from cats and other animals.

Now I've heard many examples of people who are allergic getting a cat or whatever they are allergic for and starting to get immune.

So I was wondering. Do you always get immune for cats as long as I keep one long enough? I don't feel like having to bring it back to the asylum after a year..

i had a cat and for the first week or two my allergies went crazy on me. but after awhile i started to get immune to it. it would suddenly act up for no reason every once or twice a year for the whole day and i would literally sleep all day because my allergies were so bad on those random days. it would also act up a little but when i had a cold. now that she passed away and im no longer around cats my allergies to cats act up a little more when im around a cat, esp cats who arent bathed. my cat was also an indoor cat and was always very clean.....i think that helps...also vacuuming the house OFTEN helps.

yah after a while you become used to it. i never had severe allergies though, just eye watering/scratching and sneezing

If you give up your cat 'cause of your allergies you're a fucking fucktard. I put up with my cat-induced allergies every day of the year because I love them. I have to drug myself up everyday (zyrtec!) because of them and it's worth it. Giving them up just shows you shouldn't be allowed to own animals in the first place.

I take allegra every day for my other allergies and it completely negates my mild cat allergy. I'm really allergic to mold.

Yes, I do. Some days I fucking sneeze every 5 fucking seconds for what seems like eternity. By the end of the day every time I sneeze I smell blood. Eventually, my throat ends up hurting from the force of the sneezes. I get a massive headache. My eyes are itchy as fuck, usually I have to take a shower to stop the irritation. On those days I usually, if able, knock myself out with benadryl to let the misery pass.

Most days aren't that atrocious, usually I just live with never being able to breathe through my nose. Sometimes I wake up and my tongue is cracked and bleeding from breathing through my mouth all night :\

>If you give up your cat 'cause of your allergies you're a fucking fucktard

>I have cats even though I'm allergic to them, I'm so tough

Just because you happen to like suffering doesn't mean that OP should. Fucking idiot.

anyone here ever went to a natural therapist or is it only drugs ever for all of you?

i been hearing allergies are caused by confused immune systems and can be eliminated with proper detoxing.

If OP doesn't like suffering then he shouldn't fucking get a cat. I just cannot fathom ever getting rid of an animal that I love.

OP should go hang out with someone who has some cats and see if he's allergic before getting a cat then finding out "ohey I'm still allergic, time to ditch it!"

However there is the issue that some people are only allergic to individual cats.

Allergies ARE caused by a confused immune system. That is basically the definition of an allergic response.

But, "detoxing" has nothing whatsoever to do with that. The people that are pushing that scam are trying to sell you their super-organic natural remedy enviornmetnally-friendly magic "detox" product....which has the same effectiveness as taking sawdust capsules, despite the claims that they can cure cancer, reverse aging, stop allergies and make you pass a drug test.

The only thing you need to "detox" is to drink a lot of clean water and let your liver and kidneys do their job. If you want to buy some "detox pills" then I've got some great real estate to sell you....
