So, Im getting a new dog really soon, and was looking at a certain breed a long time ago that I can't remember the name of. Looked something like a Husky.. I think the name started with a M. Wanted help getting the name here.
Also looking for general advice about which dogs are awesome. And no little dogs, big ones are 80 times the awesome.

Thats the one. Hrm. I've never liked the whole upturned tail thing. Everything else seems cool, but thats always really bothered me. Actually, I dont see why I dont just get a Husky. Are there any problems with them I should know about?

well, what kind of a dog you want? Active? Not active? How much time you have for it? Where do you live? etc...

Looking for a Active, friendly dog. Old dog was a German Shepherd, was friendly to everyone in my family, but not good around any other people at all. Looking for a dog that won't be quite like that. I have a decent sized house, Backyard with no fence but we're gonna be building one soon. There's also a huge open field right behind my house. For time, I have quite a bit. Usually around home except when Im at work, and when I am other people are at home.

Sounds like a great place for a dog :)

But was the german shepard well socialized? Because breeds like German Shepards, Rottweilers, Dobermanns etc need to be very well socialized to get along with other people and dogs. I'm not sure about how Huskies are, but that should fix the problem with almost any breed.

Im gonna say that no, the Sheperd wasn't all that well socialized. The only people it was consistently around would be me and the family, was never around other people or dogs for very long.

Well, then that problem is kind of solved if you're gonna socialize this one well. It's not really about the breed so that shouldn't limit your options.

Someone else can propably tell you more about huskies so I'll leave it to them.

I believe that you are looking for an Alaskan Malamute. I am a resident of Fairbannks Alaska and can tell you theat they are just great dogs, around children and everything.

Well, yes, I would assume that they'd be pretty chill (pun totally intended) in Alaska.

But if the OP is living in a southern area where it's a lot hotter, a different breed of choice may be in order. I've seen people in California running around with their huskies and shiet, but it really doesn't seem suitable for the dogs.

I've had Golden Retrivers all my life and I highly suggest them. If treated well they are more friendly than the term is possible of describing. They are usually high energy and very very affectionate. If you get two they are also pretty low matenience, since they usually seem great with each other's attention too.

truth

my samoyed died 1 year ago today, its quite sad but I loved him

I cant think of a more perfect dog. They are medium sized (still big though) and look even bigger if you let them sleep outside and let their fur grow really thick. Awesome dogs who are very gentle and love to play.
