Hey /an/ theres a stray black & white cat outside my house. It stands outside my door when i leave to go to school and come home. I gave it milk and hand fed it some chicken. Is it possible to turn it into a home cat? Is it safe? I have a small kid in the house about 4yrs old. Pic is a similar looking cat except skinnier.

Absolutely. You do know that the goal of every cat is to find a home. Next time you see her try and pick her up into your arms.
Wait until she's comfortable and one day just walk inside with her. Make sure that you have food waiting for her along with the necessary cat things.
As for a four year old, make damned sure the kid will respect the cat and treat her with kindness.

Cats are notorious for having "multiple owners". For all you know, it's eating its breakfast three streets down, its lunch in the local park, and its dinner back at its home where the owners are waiting for the cat.

Also, cats have very strict and regular patrols around its territory. You will be guaranteed that for the entirety of its life (short of the owners moving away) the cat will be there every day at those times.

TL;DR: The cat could already have a owner, so make sure the cat really is a stray.

someone once took our cat in, even though it had a collar

they called us a week after we had been in emotional turmoil, and told us that because her kids loved our cat so much, she had considered not calling us.

dont be that kind of horrible person

Fix'd. Wild strays want nothing from humans but food.

First learn how to take care of one.

Milk is NOT good for cats at all and can harm them.

This same shit happened to me, but I dealt with the situation quickly enough by spraying the fucker with a hose to make sure it didn't come back.
