Ferret cages FZR1K !tgnywOHJ.M
Post pictures of your ferret's homes. dimensions, accomodations, and the number of ferrets you have in the cage.

our cage is 52X37X24" and we have 5 ferrets in it. they have 4 levels including the bottom. all of the levels are covered in fleece as well as the top ladder. the bottom contains their litter box(which they never poop outside of), an igloo, and water. he first level has a bed as well as water. there's a cube hanging over the first level from the top level. the second level has food and water. and the top level has a tunnel made out of a dog coat hung from the top of the cage as well as food and water.

the room the cage is in is sort of our pet room. it's were our dogs kennels are and one of our cats' litter boxes. they usually have free roam of that room for at least a couple hours of the day.

their names are: spaghetti, mogwai, dottie alexander, flexo, and frank. the only male is mogwai, he's swimming in a sea of spayed women.

I fucking hate ferrets but is that really enough room for five of the little fuckers? It seems like it would be great for a pair but seriously, "a couple hours a day"? And their names are SHIT.
>> FZR1K !tgnywOHJ.M
>>200175
it's enough room for the five of them. it's actually one of the largest ferret cages you can buy.

ferrets sleep as much as 18 hours per day sleeping. and when they do sleep they usually all cram themselves into the same spot. most of the time they sleep they spend in the tunnel at the top or in the bed on the first level. i also said "at least" two hours a day. sometimes 3 or 4. and when they're out roaming around for that long often times they just hop back in the cage or find a nice place in the closet and then go back to sleep.

only 3 are actually permanent residents. the other two we're fostering until they're healthy enough to go to a woman that's a client at the vet clinic where my wife works who just lost her ferret to an insulinoma.

also, their names are great. clearly you have bad taste in music, and don't watch aqua teen or futurama. we didn't name frank.

ferrets are not gerbils and should not be kept in cages, nor should they be acquired by halfwitted douchebags
>> FZR1K !tgnywOHJ.M
>>200185
actually, domestic ferrets should be kept in cages when not supervised or in a room they can't get into trouble in. when they're given free roam of a household they get themselves into trouble. it's impossible to completely ferret proof your house. when they find whatever you missed and eat it they cause themselves all sorts of problems. especially shit made of rubber. they eat it and get a bowel obstruction which almost always needs to be surgically removed.

we keep ours in a very nice cage and give them the free roam of that particular room(which is completely ferret proof) for most of their waking day. i said at least a couple hours and that's exactly what i meant. at the very least a couple of hours a day. usually 3 or 4, sometimes all night or all day. it all depends on when we're home and whether we need the room for something else.

what's fucked up is when people have 2 or 3 ferrets in a 32X24X16" cage. when they're in their cage and awake(which is rare) they have plenty of room to chase eachother around or play with their toys.

my ferrets and i live in my four story house and we all have free range of it at all times. your ferrets sleep when they are caged because they have nothing better to do. you should clean up the pigsty you live in and make it safe and pleasant environment for them. as you may have deduced by now, they are not stupid animals and should not be caged for any extended period of time
>> FZR1K !tgnywOHJ.M
>>200209
my house isn't a pig sty. it doesn't matter how well you try to ferret proof your house there will always be something for them to get into. my wife is a vet technician and i've seen so many ferrets with bowel obstructions that could have easily been avoided that i will never ever let my ferrets have unsupervised roam of the house.

they sleep most of the time they're in their cage because they sleep for fucking 18 hours a day. they have plenty of play time in their own dedicated room. an average of 4-5 hours a day in a room filled with toys and 4 other ferrets is obviously enough for them if they feel the need to go back into their cage on their own and sleep some more.

and fuck you anyway for calling me a half witted douchebag because i care about the well being of my pets. you have no idea how good they have it. toys to play with, a large cage(when most people who have ferrets have cages that are way too small for them), a room to themselves most of the time, and the best vet care you can get for "exotic" animals in this town. and on top of that they don't get shitty food.

>18 hours a day. they have plenty of play time in their own dedicated room. an average of 4-5 hours a day in a room filled

How many hours are in your days? Do you have like, a leap-day?
>> FZR1K !tgnywOHJ.M

i don't think i ever said 18+4 or 5 equalled 24.
>> Bitter Anon !!WJLRQ1cwCyZ
>>200215
No, but you implied that if they were not asleep in their cage, they were out of it. For the sake of argument, lets pretending you did not imply it.

18 hours asleep.
5 hours playtime.
That leaves one hour, during which they are locked in a cage with 4 other ferrets, bored out of their goddamn minds.

Its good that you take such great care of them and they have a good cage and all, but really that cage might be appropriate for your 3, but five is too many. Can you possibly get them another cage? Ask the chick who is going to be taking them if you can have the cage she will be keeping them in, so they will be used to their new home (and to give some elbow room to your own tuberats)How often do you clean their litter box? 2-3 times a day, amirite?

PS ferrets suck

yes, people like yourself who live in such filth that they cannot keep track of all the things laying around should not have pets. first learn to care for yourself.

assuming that you a 200209 are the same fag you of all people should know that just because something's not on the floor doesn't mean a ferret can't get to it. you could have an eraser sitting out on a desk or table and that would be all it would take. but keep telling yourself i live in such horrid squalor and filth because i don't want to even take the chance that my ferrets will get into something they're not supposed to. dumbass.

I feel sorry for OP, the thread totally backfired on him.

In any case, if I had ferrets (planning to), I would try to use a cage only for initial litter training and sleeping, if they got too used to it. I don't like cages at all and would do my best effort to make the room completely safe at all times, so that I don't need to lock them up anytime. And afterwards slowly proceed to proof the rest of the rooms.
>> Anonymous
Are ferrets nice pets?
>> Anonymous
Dear OP, I am in your offense.

You're all fuck tards.
>> Anonymous
>>200309

Not particularly. They smell, they try to eat everything, and they tend to nip people.
>> Anonymous
>>200312

The main appeal of ferrets is that they remain extremely playful their whole lives.
>> Anonymous
Seriously if you post on any chan site and admit to keeping ferrets on top of that the FBI or interpol puts you on their 'special watch list'.
>> Anonymous
>>200309
they can be if they are trained right. mine is super sweet and cuddly and doesn't nip or eat everything. With proper bathing and cleaning of their area they dont smell to bad. most people just dont give them enough love or attention that they need so they become "bad ferrets"
>> FZR1K !tgnywOHJ.M

the level of fucked up retarded reasoning in this thread is hilarious to me. i'm a filthy person who can't keep my house clean because i don't give my ferrets free roam of my house. and i can't even take care of myself let alone ferrets because, according to previous reasoning, i have a filthy house.

do you have some sort of mental disorder? it's ok you can tell me. i won't tell anyone else, i promise.

Dont mind the trolls, OP. I love your setup, and it looks like you take care of them well. Makes me miss my (late) ferret.

I've never owned a ferret. Can't stand them, in fact. But in their case, aren't they only kept in their cages when they can't be supervised, like dogs? They're not supposed to LIVE out of the cage, I recall. So what's wrong with it not being humongous? No one bitches about dog kennels being too small for them to live inside of. When awake, wouldn't a ferret owner just let the ferret out, supervise them to make sure they don't do some retarded ferret thing, and then stick them back in when they fall unconscious for the next ten hours?
>> Anonymous
>>200329

anons on this board take things way too seriously. Because, you know, THIS ARE SERIOUS BIZNESS.

On the other hand, why not just let them have the run of the room and their open cage when you're not home?

When I lived in Alaska I had a large wood and screen ferret cage with a wire cage on top, then a plastic storage box with a clear top on top of that. All three levels were connected and the ferrets would sleep in the plastic box on top (known as the 'ferret penthouse') or in a hammock. When out of the cage they were confined to the kitchen by a sheet of plywood with a stick of PVC tape on top (so they couldn't get a grip and climb over). One teensy female managing to squeeze into the space underneath the cabinets. Luckily she came back out. Then there was the time the big male got into the licorice and had explosive red diarrhea. He had the stuff cached all over the kitchen including places we didn't think he could get to. :)

I just give my ferrets free roam over the house for the most part when I'm home, the cage is only really used when I leave, they really need the space to run around and such.

It is a nice setup, but I hope your foster ferrets go home soon.

My ferrets have a medium-sized cage, probably only slightly smaller than yours. They have two beds, but only use the one hammock. I have two, a brother and sister. They generally only get put into the cage and have it shut when it's bedtime (they share a bedtime with me) or when I need to clean their room. For some reason they take great offense when I try to pick up their shit. They have the room to themselves the whole day, and I play with them for at least 2 hours everyday. They don't get to go in the rest of the house without supervision, though.

ferrets make a great alarm clock.
give them an egg every morning when you get up and you will never oversleep again (unless you cage them like a total douchebag)
>> Anonymous
WTF there's no reason to start a shitstorm over this.

OP's wife here who accidentally found herself on this horrible website:

I like the fact that I'm a cunt because I don't want to have to hack into my ferret because she ate a piece of toy when I wasn't around to keep an eye on her.

Why don't you guys let your toddlers wander around when you're not home? I mean, seriously.

The foster ferrets leave in about a week. They are doing great, they have totally come around in just the week that we've had them. We're perfectly happy with our three ferrets, and they are wonderful.

Gotta love the ignorant comments on here. Oh well, there will always be fucking retards.

Welcome to 4chan, cunt.

my ferrets just have a small one level cage now
there's only 2 of them and they're getting old so they can't climb up the levels as easily
they've got 2 beds

my boy fuzzy knows how to to open the door if you don't lock it, but he'll just sit there with his mouth on the bar instead of going anywhere when he opens it

and ferret named mogwai = awesome

Ferrets make great pets! But a lot of people are really ignorant about the best way to care for them so there are a lot of ferrets labeled "bad" or "stinky". My ferrets don't nip, i clean their cage frequently and feed them a good food (that goes a long way to keeping them from stinking)and i've found that even people who aren't into ferrets seem to think they're just fine.

Anyway, your ferret setup is nice! but, you know, you're posting on 4chan. 4chan is the seat of all douchbaggery. Douchebaggery comes from 4chan. (and is usually hilarious).

Lol @ idiots thinking that ferrets aren't primarily caged animals.

Hello and welcome to 4chan. Show us your tits!

>horrible website
Very.

>your toddlers
For anon to have kids, there would have to be sex. Everyone on 4chan is either a neckbearded shut-in or gay. Presumably you have a neckbeard, and your husband is gay (Trust me on this).

>fucking retards.
I don't know if you know this or not but that is generally how retards are made.

PS your husband sucks worse than ferrets

I have one ferret and he has run of my whole apt when I am home and awake but if I am out or sleeping he is just chill'n in my room. he has a cage where he goes when he wants to eat and drink or is being punished for getting into something he isn't supose to. He is overall one of the best ferrets i've ever met and most people will agree even non ferret people. I do plan on getting another ferret soon so he will have a buddy but he gets lots of attention from me, my roomate and boyfriend.
