>>246057 I hope you read this thread, since she might not need meds. While it could be any number of things, I'm going to assume it really is a thyroid problem: Recently my bestest pal died from age related diseases; he also had a thyroid problem. The fur on his back, chest and neck started falling out and the rest of his fur started getting terribly oily. I found out that his thyroid gland will more or less shrivel up with meds and he'll be then completely dependent. Long story short; we ignored the vet's advice and put him on the maximum human dosage of natural thyroid support tablets. He was a 40 kilo dog and it took 2 months before there was any fur coming back, but after 3 months most of it had returned. There was a point where he was put on twice the human dosage and even more fur came, but we dialed it back to see what dose would maintain him. Note that even on meds, the fur will take up to 3 months to return as well. He was given kelp tablets and a product called "Thyro Guard" by Nutra Life. You should Google it and find out about getting it, or something similar from your health food store. If you get something else, make sure the ingredients are the same, because it worked for my dog. He wasn't completely cured, as he put on weight and his fur was oilier than normal but it was still remarkable.
