dear /an/
I figured that perhaps someone here could help me. I got a cat a few months ago...relatively young. not a year old yet. Well...recently I decided that he needed a play mate so I got another cat. Ones male, the other female. I've only had them a day together, and they don't seem to want to get along. How long does it normally take for two cats to get along? They're both not a year old yet...so I thought they'd hit it off pretty well...but i guess i was wrong.
Any suggestions?

duct tape them together for at least a week. Torture them repeatedly with a stick, the truamatic experience will undoubtedly bring them closer, and if the doesnt work put them in a blender together with a very ripe onion

Sometimes it takes a while for cats to get along.

I have two cats, and recently I was given a homeless Himalayan. At first my younger cat (maine coon/ragdoll mix, 2 years) would hiss and claw at him for no apparent reason, and he is a really friendly cat. After about a month of the himalayan being there, they actually get along great.

Just give it time.
