Poor little guy. Sometimes they just can't or don't know to get away from the large, aggressive dogs.
If you're hurting for cash, you can do-it yerself on a pseudo-house/tree pretty inexpensively rather than buying one of those expensive things at Pet Smart.
Get yourself one of the smaller bookshelf kits from walmart. They should cost around $25.
Also, go get some carpet scraps from your nearest flooring stores. Some stores sell these cheaply and some give away the oddly-shaped pieces.
Put the shelf together, but hold off nailing the back wall onto it. Instead cut the back wall down so that it fits only the lowest shelf. Make two of those, one for front and for back.
Carpet the bottom shelf before you nail the wall pieces on. Cut a cat-sized hole in the front one. Since your guy will be limping, make sure it's pretty low and large enough to clamber into.
Now carpet the rest of it, using glue and tacks -- not staples!-- to fasten the carpet to the sides and shelves.
Alternatively to carpeting the entire thing, leave one of the walls bare. Go buy a package of hemp or sisal cord and wrap one of the walls with it. Both my cats love to dig at the sisal more than the carpet.
