Day 1
So let's start the second batch. I've learned from my first batch how to start breeding, that I shouldn't use a bottle as tank and that you should wait until the Triops are big enough before putting them with your other fish.

The current set-up is like this:
* 2,5 Litre plastic box
* 1 Litre of Aquarium water
* Lamp (which has to be replaced)
* Around 1/4 of the Triops Eggs packet
* Coming up is also a cheap-ass bubbler

I also will use another camera to take pictures, a Canon Ixus 330. I hope this one will take better pics than my cellphone.

Bookmarked this shit. Sucks that the first one got eaten though. I was hoping to see some goldfish-triops coexistance!

How big are these things supposed to get, anyway?
>> Triopsan! !trioZVRe5U
There are 3 main species, each with different sizes and characteristics, but commonly they will become anything between 4-8cm

The ones I used to own maxed out around two inches. Only two survived since I thought it was genius to dump half the packet in. The rest ate each other and only two managed to maintain their selves and stay mutual.

FYI: I didn't drop much of the Egg-Packet in this batch so no Triops are guaranteed. It will be a matter of luck.

well this is the first time i've been on /an/ for awhile, but for the last year i've been growing triops...to be honest, this thread was a pleasant suprise.

as of now i have 4 triops from the initial 6, cannibalism, and my friend once grew a single triops nearly 4 inchs long and froze it once it died.

4 Inches is pretty good and generally accepted to be the largest you can get from a normal Triops (although
there have been bigger one).

I don't really expect to see anything today. I added a (home-made) bubbler and a new lamp.

Since I only added a small amount of the Egg-Packet, it's possible that there are no eggs in the water at all. If that is the case I will just add a small amount again. Also, since it's aquarium water, it's possible the eggs are killed or not yet hatched.
I hope to see some small things swimming tomorrow.

are these things expensive to buy?or are you just trying to prolong your enjoyment?
>> Triopsan! !trioZVRe5U

They are not expensive at all, but I just try to get most out of the bag. It's kinda useless if you let 3 Triops grow and after 2 weeks there is only one left due to cannibalism/fights.
So I'm trying prolong my enjoyment, since the Triops will also have a function in my tank ('cleaning' the ground)
>> Triopsan! !trioZVRe5U
Update: I added more of the packet. If I don't see anything tomorrow or on day 4 it means the aquarium water is unfit for egg hatching

Day 3
Not much to say, I haven't detected any sort of life.
