Lizard? Anonymous
My buddy found this lizard and put him/her into a little pet cage thing with some dirt and water and a few bugs (not sure what it eats).
Was just wondering if anyone knows whether it would prefer a humid or dry, warm or cool home...

for the record, I think they like humidity because they're particularly fond of florida

ARRRRGHHHH

its just a little green anole. they like the warm and dry, so a heat lamp would be nice, but be sure to give him a place to scurry off underneath if he gets bothered.

I've lived in TX for the past 20+ years and that is DEFINATLEY an Anole. They can change colors between green and brown. Like most (all?) reptiles they need a warm enviornment, and these guys will eat pretty much any kind of insect that is smaller than they are. I have kept them as pets before and fed them flies, small crickets, and mealworms. They are easy to keep in captivity. Keep the terrarium warm and fairly dry. Every once in a while spray some water onto the side of the aquarium and they'll lap it up with their tongue. For temperature control you can buy "hot rocks" or similar items at most pet stores. These are a fake rock with a weak electric heater inside. They are quite cheap. Stick one of those at one end of the terrarium and leave the other end unheated. That way if they want to bask they can go sit on the hot rock, but if they want it cooler they can get away from it.

It's an anole, and their vicious.
They're also territorial if their males, so you can only have one male per cage. They have a dewlap on their throat that for this one I'm guessing it will be strawberry colored and even have white scale specks in it. If you see the extended dewlap, it is probably mating season for the anole or the anole is just acting like a douche.
