my kitty is miserable.

shes got a really bad case of fleas and has for about a month or more. i started giving her weekly baths with flea shampoo, i got her a flea collar, and i even started picking out fleas myself with tweezers after baths. i also fumed up the whole house after vacuuming everywhere and am getting redding to do it again. after baths my cat will feel better for a few days but they just keep coming back and they are biting me and my parents too. its gotten to the point where i just casually pick them off and crunch them up. pretty gross right? i want to get rid of the problem before i go back to school in september because i know my parents probably won't take care of her as well as i do. is there anything else i can do to fix this?

Flea collars don't work and flea shampoo only helps a little and is temporary.

Go to the pet store and get some Frontline for cats. Each package has 3 doses and each dose lasts a month. Grocery store off-brand flea drops don't work either.... you need Frontline, although some people have had some luck with Advantage. It will kill the fleas and their eggs. It'll cost about $30 and it's worth every penny.

Then you need to flea bomb the house, because they're not going anywhere for a while if you don't.

If you can't afford this then you shouldn't have pets.

There is an oral product called Capstar. Go to the veterinarian for crying out loud and get her dewormed as well.

there is also a trick you can do to get the fleas out of the carpet after bombing, set out an aluminum pie plates with soapy water, then light a candle and stick it in the middle. you dont need a huge amount of water, just enough for the bugs to drown in.

The fleas should suicide themselves into the water to get at the light/heat of the flame. Its actually kinda creepy.

I would think vacuuming After the bombing is important to get rid of anything that was only half-killed.

That's not a preventative, it only kills the fleas that are on her. So if the house doesn't get completely devoid of fleas within 24 hours, the fleas are back.
