This is my little kitty, Maneki (Mana for short). You may or may not be able to see her eye in this pic, but it's filled with blood. Has anyone else ever had this happen? This is actually the second time, and she's been to the vet multiple times. Anyway, I'm just wondering if she's the only one.

Hey, so I took Mana to the vet today (had to call around to find one open on saturday).
The doc said that she's got some sort of infection that she'll need to stay over night.
But as i was getting back into my car, she ran out of the vet's office and managed to wedge herself under my butt and i sat on her.

so how exactly did her eye fill with blood?

I had a cat whose eye filled with blood following a bad run-in with a car engine. She had to lose the eye. I don't know that this is equally serious, but it COULD be, so definitely keep on it, and if you can't get a satisfactory answer from your vet, try another.

Ah /an/, you listen so well. I've taken her to the vet multiple times, it's gotten quite expensive. She has a blood disorder where she has a low platelet count, and her blood doesn't clot. Apparently, jumping from a high place (5 feet or up) can make her eye bleed again. We can't get her fixed at the moment, because she would likely bleed to death. Also, we can't pick her up via the tummy because it might rupture her spleen. The good thing is that Mana doesn't seem to care, she's as energetic and playful as ever. The vet has prescribed steroids to hopefully bring her platelet count back up. She's going in later this week to see if it's working. Wish her luck!

Does the eye-full-of-blood cause her pain or harm her vision at all?

Nope, She doesn't seem to care. It's happened twice, and only lasted about 4 days at the most. She plays and eats and does everything normal during it. I'm not sure she even notices.

In that case, the eye looks pretty damn awesome.

Have you tried getting another vet's opinion?

No, but to fix her blood not clotting we are probably going to have to go to a specialist place. I haven't gone to the last few vet appointments (I had to work) but that's what my mom has told me the vet said. If we try that and it's still bad, then we're gonna get another opinion. Till then, pic of Mana as a younger kitten. (she's about 7 months now)
