I almost got one of these, but I opted for a cat instead. I'm curious what they're really like to have around, though. I've heard that they get terribly lonely if you don't have two of them. They're also illegal in most states.

Anybody have experience with them?

They are great if you have the time. Like all exotic animal's you have some special needs to take care of. The diet needs to be made and fresh fruits and veggi's everyday. They take a LONG time to get them to bond with you. Some are short but most take about 6 months or so. They require alot of time to get bonded. Thats even when they sleep during the day. Aside from that after they are cool with you they are fun.

they also need a lot of room to run around so either you need a big cage or be able to let them out a bit. they come right back if you offer them something tasty like nuts or bugs. but i had cats so i couldn't let them out. also they can drown in toilets and get hurt by normal household aplicances so you have to have a good room to let them out in.
