At the end of next week I'll be the proud owner of a puppy. It is a mix of Rottweiler and Cane Corso (Italian masstiff). It is going to be a BIG dog. So...does /an/ have any tips on keeping big dogs?

Why don't you read up on things way before deciding to get a dog like that. What if you find out that you can't handle a big dog like that or are unable to provide the attention and discipline it needs?

You better be fucking joking. It a big fucking dog with the potential to kill you and everything you love.
No, dogs are not easy little things.
You might want to say that to the guy in my friends town. They ended up shooting the rott. From a fucking balcony.

protip : careful training.

I've had a lot of big dogs, including Italian Mastiffs and Rotts.
First thing, both breeds are big jumpers. Train puppy not to do this when young, or you will have a huge, uncontrollable dog knocking people over in a few years.

I don't know if this applies for mixed breeds, but I would look into it...young Cane Corsos (under two) are extremely susceptible to joint injuries and have a tendency to overexert themselves, which can wreck their bones. Long walks are not good for cane pups, which sucks because you walk such a fine line between accidentally hurting them (they're pretty stoic and won't whimper or complain even when hurt), and letting them get bored (at which point they destroy the house)

Good luck, srsly. Big dogs are the greatest when trained right.

A firend of mine had to put her rottweiler down because of bad behaviour and agressiveness due to bad discipline and training.
But she has given me good advice on how to care for a big dog. She has a dog just like the one I'm getting from a previous litter.
You are right. dogs are not easy little things. I expect it to be a chore and a lot of work, but it still beats sitting here all day, doesn't it?

Excellent advice. I shall take this into concideration. 1,5 internets for you, anon.

Make sure to bond with the dog before you stick your penis into it. You'll want to make sure that the animal wants it as much as you do.

You should not be raising anything near to a cane corso if you need to ask for help. It's going to maul you to death and rape your girlfriend.

I don't know about Mastiffs, but Rottweilers have the 'bumping' behavior of herding dogs. I don't know if it's even possible to completely train it out of them but it's annoying as hell. And don't keep anything breakable around them because unlike some larger dogs, like wolfhounds, rottweilers will just knock everything over without giving a shit. They're like big bumbling mongoloids with retard strength.

Shes just a puppy atm, so she needs to grow up first. But she is the biggest bitch in the litter, so maybe later.

I have no girlfriend, just like the rest of 4chan. And I wouldn't mind if she raped me. The mauling however, might be a problem...

As another anon said, Rottweilers are stupid and fucking strong. Think Lenny from Of Mice & Men. Loving and affectionate, but fully capable of ending your life in a couple of seconds, even unintentionally.

One thing you will have to teach it, is you're the boss. If the bitch ever gives you backchat or growls, use a hammer punch. Establish that when she's young and she'll remember it for life. Anyone who tells you otherwise is the type of moron who gets savaged because the dogs don't respect them.
