So I'm thinking of getting a ragdoll kitten. I've heard they're really good indoor cats because they don't like to be aggressive and they don't play with their claws, and they'd rather sit on a couch than climb up high on things. I live in a small dorm apartment (2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom) with my fiance, and right now they don't allow pets in the dorms. But if they change their mind or we sneak in a kitty, are these really good cats? I've never known anyone that owned one, and they're about 750 dollars for a registered one. Picture related

Ragdolls are very nice cats, and here's a FAQ:

They're very social cats so if you're getting a kitten be sure to give it lots of attention so that it won't become emo when it matures.

Also, cats are preferably raised in pairs.

They're also long-haired cats, so friends and family with allergies beware.

yeah, luckily i go to school, but i only have class 2 days a week so most of the rest of the time i'm at home all day (hence the reason i'd like to have a cat, because i moved to another country and i get a little lonely without my kitties. I had to leave both of them with my mom back in the USA)

Yeah, you'll continue going to school for the next 13-20 years? A cat is a long lasting responsibility.

Uhm...no? And for your information i had my other cats for 7 years and 3 years. I wouldn't have left them if I could have brought them with me. But I valued their health and well-being more than my own selfishness in wanting them with me. I don't think my cats with their temperaments would have been able to deal with a 16 hour plane trip and then a quarantine. I want a cat because I love cats, and my fiance loves cats, and because I'll be living in this apartment for the next 4 years of my life and I'd like to have something soft and fluffy to come home to. And when I'm done with school, I'll be getting married and buying a home and living here permanently, and bringing my cat with me.

FAIL. Cat hair does not cause allergies, cat saliva proteins do. That's why a long haired cat like the Siberian can be hypoallergenic.
