So, /an/, long story less long:

I have come unto the possession of a snake I'm quite certain is a boa because a friend of mine was on the beach, possibly stoned, and thought it'd be a great idea to get me one, so he convinced/threatened a small child to give him it.

Now I've always wanted a snake, even if I never had one because I didn't want to feed it live mice (and I WILL feed it live mice now. Pet stores in this hellhole country insist that's what you feed snakes and don't catty dead mice). Regardless, I took it upon myself to quickly fashion a crude enclosure for it, since I felt quite bad seeing it in that tiny little fishbowl.

This is my enclosure. Now I need ideas to make it awesome. Thoughts?

This situation sounds familiar, almost as if it had been posted before.

It has. But now it's not about the mice. I gave up.

Looks like itz a red tailed boa.

How long is the snake and what are the dimensions to your enclosure?
And do you mean they don't 'carry' prekilled mice? I feed my boas prekilled. Its safer for them. If you have a red tailed boa, its going to get big and eventually you'll be moving onto rats and a rat can do serious harm to your snake with their teeth.

It's poisonous.

The enclosure is about 35x35x70cm. The boa is around 55-65cm long now.

And I mean exactly that. No pet/animal-supply store in this country sells dead mice. And I haven't seen rats either, so it'll have to be chickens and bunnies later on.

Bottom line is, this is not a pet care thread. The Cage I made is adequate, I want it to be awesome. Imagination people. What shoud I add?

Plants? A tiny waterfall? A yellow exploding van?

Have you named the snake yet? You might be able to theme the name and the decorations together.

Name him Varg and construct something that looks like a burned down church, for example.

A 4chan party van.

Just buy the live mouse and snack it's head on the table to stun it, then let the snake enjoy.

As far as decorating the cage, give the snake stuff to hide under. Also, get one of those little hammocks that have suction cups and stick it in one corner.

because animal abuse is awesome.

and for christ's sake OP.
GOOGLE MOTHERFUCKER. DO YOU USE IT? its not that fucking hard to google, "red tailed boa care".
>> Anonymous
>>127803

That's not animal abuse, that's a humane way of feeding a rodent to a snake. Stun the animal.
>> Anonymous
>>127803

Am I the only one who LOL'ed at the fact that someone thinks it's animal abuse to bash a mouse on the head to stun it *before* throwing it into a tank alive to be constricted to death (if it's lucky) and then pulled down the gullet of a snake?
>> Anonymous
>>127825

I see where>>127803is coming from, though. The snake could, as they often do, ignore the mouse for some time, leaving it to stagnate in that "stunned" state. It'd be presumptuous to think that the "stunning" procedure is always painless -- it could more accurately be described as "incapacitating."

Shit, I could never own a snake. But whatever. I take it this snake is too big for goldfish? Store around here sells feeder fish not much smaller than a mouse.
>> Anonymous
>>127858

Yeah. Obviously it's better to leave the mouse alert and in mortal terror of the snake that's taking his sweet time than to "incapacitate" him. It's much more fun that way.
>> Anonymous
Break the mouse's neck and tease feed it to the boa before it gets cold? This would work so long as you don't overfeed the snake, but that should always be kept in mind, especially when feeding live prey.

I've watched mice casually groom themselves, sleep, and eat all within inches of the snake for which they are the intended meal. This would at least make it APPEAR that the mouse is able to relax. It certainly doesn't look like the mouse is consumed by fear. I don't think the

OP here. Again, I don-t need info on boa care. I think the tank it-s in right now is plain. I want ideas for shit to build in there. Like that hammock.

Making your snake look like a church arson doesn't work for you?
>> Anonymous
Maybe build something he can hide in/under?

In nature, snakes do eat live mice. I hardly thing this is so abusive, it's just natural.
>> Anonymous
and in real life the mice tend to fight back by biting and scratching...not something you want happening to your pet snake.
>> Anonymous
>>127932
I thought their natural defense was being yummy?

>>127932
The snake will be able to fucking handle itself. If eating a mouse was that dangerous snakes would have gone extinct a few million years ago.
>> Anonymous
>>127925
A snake in a tank is not natural, is it? So why does it matter what they would do in the wild? Do we make our dogs go hunt down their dinner?
>> Anonymous
Feed the snake baby mice if you think it can't handle an adult yet.

SNAKES ONLY GET INJURED FROM PREY WHEN OWNERS LEAVE MICE,RABBITS,CHICKS,SMALL DOGS ALONE WITH THE SNAKE

JUST FEED IT LIVE FOOD AND REMOVE WHAT IT DOSE NOT EAT SO IT CANT HARM THE SNAKE, ALSO LIKE SHARKS SNAKES CAN SMELL BLOOD SO CAUSING PREY TO BLEED CAN ENCOURAGE YOUR SNAKE TO FEED, I SUGGEST STABBING PREY FIRST, THIS WILL BENEFIT YOUR SNAKE

OP here: Isn't it cute?

And for the millionth time, this is not a snake food thread. I want ideas on what to put in the cage. I know a snake isn't exactly the most active animal ever, but I'm quite tired of it being inside that vertical cardboard log 24/7.

Who the hell is Varg, anyway?
Speaking of which, my snake has no name yet. And I can't tell the gender, so ideas are welcome as well.

i said google snake care, yanno, as in general. meaning that it will give you information on housing it.
since you seem pretty fucking stupid, just get it a hide box and if you want, throw in some clean branches or that expensive fake braches Petco sells.

>>128512
stop being retarded. i lived with someone who owned a buramese python and one day while he was feeding his snake the snake did grab a hold of the rat but the rat tore a huge chunk out of its face.
few days later, it becomes infected, friend is too retarded to take snake to vet, few days later again, snake dies.
>> Anonymous
>>128737
Maybe your retarded friend had no business owning a snake then? Omgawdz lol the rat mite bight my snaek. God forbid the rat does bite it take it to a vet. If you're too "retarded" as you put it, then feed yourself to it and be done with it.
