nah but it's the first puppy i've had since 97 and the first one i've ever had to train alone and IT SUCKS HARDCORE. Ugh, already pissed in the house 5 times, srsly. I take it out and it just stands there, it's shit a couple times outside, thankfully (squirts from shots), but it won't piss outside. Guide says wait til it does something, even if it's half an hour. IT'S FUCKING FREEZING OUTSIDE ASSHOLE. fuck you guide. Also, crate method... doin it. But none of the guides I saw ever seem to mention HOW TO GET THEM TO SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH THE NONSTOP CRYING AT 4 AM?!?! RAAAAAEG. I know it's a small price to pay once they learn, a couple weeks of misery for hopefully a full decade or more of companionship, but fuck me running this sucks sooo much right nao u guize.

you got the dog yesterday, no reason to get excited.

if you're not using newspaper, get some immediately. puppies just love going to the bathroom on newspaper, which you can put by the door and transition them into going outside. that crate is essential for sleep. your puppy needs a warm, enclosed bed. when my puppies cried, i'd put my hand on them until they fell asleep, then quietly leave. if they cried again, i'd go see what they wanted. maybe take them to the newspaper, maybe just put my hand back on them until they fell asleep again.

big dogs are the best. if i ever have the heart to replace my dog, it'll be another big one.

Bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Holy shitballs, you were so not ready to get a dog.

Yet, anon is merciful. I try to help.

Crate: If you're crating them, try putting them in your room, facing your bed, with a blanket over their crate.

As far as waiting for them to piss, yeah you just have to man, one of the best things to do is regulate their feeding/drinking time so you know when they're gonna piss and shit and won't get surprised. Praise them when get go outside. DON'T freak out on them when you find pee or shit inside. Also, you can hang a bell from your door where they can reach it, when you take them outside to pee or poop, bump their nose on the bell so it rings. If the dog is smart, eventually it will start bumping the bell when it has to shit or pee to be let outside.

Also don't pay attention to them when they cry, that teaches them they can cry and get your attention.

DON'T yell at them, don't go talk to them, don't try to get them to be quiet, don't touch them, etc. Just deal with it, they'll stop soon.

Wow you just got the thing and already your complaining? It's a baby, you need to have patience.

Right now the most important thing your pup needs is exercise. Take her out to run and play to get her energy out everyday. EVERYDAY. This is so incredibly important, and something that a lot of people overlook. Puppies are like little kids with ADHD, and when they are full of energy, they won't pay any attention to your attempts at discipline and training. Once she is worn out, however, she will be more attentive. Trust me dude. And don't fucking say you don't have the time to walk her everyday, that's bullshit.

Also, get the best food you can afford. Stay away from store brands, pedigree, science diet... they all have tons of fillers that will make your dog fat and have cancer. Purina Pro Plan, Eukanuba and Royal Canine are the best. And keep her on a puppy formula until she is TWO. Puppy food has higher amounts of protein and calcium that large breeds need.

I"M FUCKING SERIOUS ABOUT THE EXERCISE.

If she's crying during the night it may be because she's frightened, especially if this is the first time she has ever been away from her mother. Some people reccommend getting an old fashioned ticking clock and putting it in their bed with them, to mimic in some way the heartbeats of their mother and sibings., or else just give them some noise to cut the silence.

Crate, premium food, (i like Innova), food schedule, exercise, obedience training *and lots of it*, and more exercise.

Also, what cockstain sold you a 6 week old puppy? They should be at least 8 weeks old before they're away from their mom forever.

LOL Proplan and Eukanuba are kind of bottom of the barrel foods. Royal Canin, Techni-cal and Nutro are good, affordable foods.

I've heard some bad things about Nutro making people's dogs sick? Vomiting, etc.

if your rotty gets too much protein it'll have growth spurts, leading to weaker hips than rotties already genetically have...

Nutro, Royal and Blue are pretty middle ground. They still have grain but they are worlds better then shit like bill jack, science diet, purina or any other shit you will find at the grocery store. Sure there are dogs that live fine on those grocery store foods for their entire lives, but then again there are people who smoke their entire lives and don't die of cancer. Basically if you cheap out and buy grocery store dog food, don't be surprised when your dog has health issues later on. The good stuff(orijen, inova, taste of the wild, canidae, natural variety, etc.) is going to cost around 40-50$ for a 30lb bag and should last for at least a month even if you have a big dog.
