Weird Rabbit Death Anonymous
There's something that happened when I was a kid that I am still curious about.

I had a male rabbit as a pet as a child. It was not hand tamed so it did not like to be handled. It had escaped from its cage one day, but I found it the next morning back in our yard just lying on the ground. It was breathing heavily, and I noticed that one eye was totally shut and the other was bulging out. Later that morning, it would jerk around violently. It would even flail its body around to the point where it was bouncing upside down and slamming its head into the ground. It died later that day. What would cause something like that to happen?

If you live in North America, most likely it was poisoning from pesticides/herbicides. Also possible, internal trauma from being attacked by a dog or cat (or from panicking and running into something).

If you're in Europe or Australia, Myxomatosis or RCV is possible.

Listen to this man.

What caused it? Irresponsible owners who keep rabbits in cages and then let them escape outside.

I second that. Why did it escape from it's cage? Did some retard just leave the door open? A rabbit can't "escape" from a cage unless the cage is made of WOOD, lol.

That death sounds incredibly cruel and sad, but also incredibly awesome. :(

Disagree. Girlfriend has a huge bastard rabbit in a metal cage. When he really wants to, he can just bodyslam the door and pop it open. It's more about the cage being an old, cheap POS though.

OP here,

We had a metal cage where the "locking mechanism" was just a metal loop on the door snapping over the body of the cage.

If it was a willow cage...

The rabbit was poisoned unintentionally, if not the cage, then something else.
