This picture makes me laugh so much. I don't know why. Its just a standard issue Deinonychus and a Buitreraptor. But seeing the two side by side makes me laugh.

Also, dinosaur thread, ready? Go!

Do you have a bigger version of this?
>> bouncy weasel
i like the anklyosaurus. they're the ones with the club-tails. also: real raptors were nothing like the raptors in jurassic park. they were really about the size of turkeys and had patches of feathers, and many feathers on their arms. they used the arm-feathers to make sharper turns while running fast and their hook toes were not used for slashing. they were used for holding on to their prey and occasionally piercing arteries with deadly precision. they did fight n packs and were good jumpers though.
>> bouncy weasel
i also like the things with the bony heads they kick ass too. i'm all for headbutting people in the head/punchng people in the fist/kneeing people in the knee/elbowing people in the elbow/kicking people in the feet/shoulder charging people in the shoulder

Actually, it seems that Velociraptors and the other sickle-clawed dinosaurs weren't pack hunters at all. Instead they acted more like seagulls, often eating weaker, younger individuals that made the mistake of trying to eat from the same carcass as bigger adults. Also, instead of "patches of feathers" all evidence points towards them having been just as feathered as modern flightless birds.
>> bouncy weasel
>>121727
sounds reasonable.

Actually, it seems Velociraptors and most of the other sickle-clawed dinosaurs were passive herd animals who were domesticated and used as beasts of burden and transport by early middle-eastern societies.
>> Nagi

Problem is, the way the skull was connected to the spine, they'd have broken their necks if they headbutted anything that gave even moderate resistance. Anything harder than another dinosaur's flank would pretty much fuck them up for good.

>>121743
I thought the prevailing theory nowadays was that Pachys would push each other with their heads rather then actively head butting.

Seems Dinos were lolicons too.

I'm a little surprised that this behavior was found in maniraptorids.

I wonder how long until someone posts loli raptor furry sex pics in this thread...

"in people as well as crocodiles, alligators, lizards and snakes, sexual maturity can begin after the juvenile growth spurt but well before peak adult size."

I didn't know people were diapsids. :|
