How big do guinea pigs usually get to be?

How much time do they need out of their cage each day?

How long do they live?

I'd be getting a cheap cage....do they really need the BIG expensive cages to be happy? Keep in mind he won't be able to freely run around the house much, so he would spend most of his time in there.

I got two of em and they're not that big. Sure, big enough that you have to support them with 2 hands, but still. My guinea pig cage is about 3 feet by 6 feet.

>How big do guinea pigs usually get to be?
About 9-12 inches.

None really. It's up to you to let them out or not. They don't mind.

>How long do they live?
Around 4-7 years.

Bigger means more space to walk, which is better for guinea pigs.

You should get those metal/plastic modules and build an enclosure instead of a cage.

You could shoulder train it. My sister used to do that with her guinea pigs and they spent a lot of time out of their cages. The last one she had was the same color as her hair so you couldn't see him when he was riding on her shoulder. She also trained him to give kisses on command.
She also carried a cat bed around for the times her shoulder needed a break.

She kept him in a medium sized dog cage with a litter box in the back that had a hole cut in the front so he could walk in and out.
