Is there any difference between Malamutes and Huskies? Are there any crossbreeds?

It is... f.e. malamutes are more muscular and only with brown eyes.

Malamutes: Bigger, stronger, not as active, not as escapist, more wary of other pets (ESPECIALLY same sex and smaller), and there are other digestive differences. That's about all I can remember :(. Sorry, but try a Google Search

That's like saying.. Is the lion a better house pet than a cheetah?

They are both workhorses. Malamutes are generally slightly less so.

Definitely. Huskies will give a steep learning curve. You can always get one later on. Since it's a first dog, a lot of people envision what they would "like" their life with a dog to be like. But once they get the dog, they settle into a different and more realistic routine.

Labs are much more laid back. My first four dogs were Labs. They are excellent. My family was a hunting family, so I worked with them a lot. But later on as my personal routine was established, I found Huskies better suited me than Labs.

The difference between a independent and dependent breed is day and night. You won't regret a Lab for a first dog. You have a 50% chance of regretting a Husky for a first dog, on the other hand.

Thanks for actually thinking it through. Most people don't. There's over 140 Huskies in rescues right now, excluding shelters. Just as many malamutes because people don't think it through.
