Owning a ferret is like owning the smelliest, dumbest, most hyper cat on the planet

You must be a ferret, then.

They're hyper, yes, but they absolutely do NOT smell. If they do, you don't:

A. Wash your ferret enough.

B. Change their cage enough.

C. Give them good, nutritious food

D. Own a ferret.

And they're absolutely not stupid, either. They can learn to use the litterbox, learn their name, will come to you, and can learn tricks.

That's more than I can say for a cat or dog.

They are also smart enough to find everything not bolted down and abscond with it.

As for the hyper part they sleep for about 16-20 hours a day.

Uhm, this is bad advice.

Washing your ferret removes natrual oils from its coat. This can cause their skin to dry out. It also makes their smell come back even stronger once you've washed them, which starts a viscious cycle of washing, which is even worse for your ferret.

You don't need to frequently bathe your ferret, despite what the companies that sell ferret-wash want you to think. If you buy into that, then you probably also sterilize your silverware, autoclave your toothbrush, and carry antibacterial soap in your purse wherever you go.

Ferrets, like all Mustelids, have musk. It's a fact of life that accompanies those animals. Keeping their cage/bedding clean will certainly control the odor to a large extent, but expecting to be completely rid of it is rediculous. You might as well expect a rooster not to call, or expect cats not to chase small animals.

Sorry, what? You can't train a dog? I don't even know where to start making fun of your ignorance.
