Another Australian here.

This cute little fucker is a bilby, he's on the endangered species list. Every easter they put out chocolate bilbies alongside the chocolate easter bunnies to help raise awareness and about their status and money to help them. They have a 12-14 day gestation period, they're omnivores, marsupials, nocturnal, and like the koala rarely drinks water - preferring to get it from the foods they eat.

Possums live in Southern Ontario, I've seen one my whole life. They aren't supposed to be here, they're from the southern states, but they end up taking a nap on a train and waking up in Canada... fuck

Eastern Hognose. I saw one of these guys in the woody part of my campus and totally freaked out - not in terror, but in complete animal-geek-joy. He wasn't so happy to see me, though. When he smelled me, he slithered off pretty quickly, and when I took a step towards him, he flipped over, writhing around on the ground with his mouth open. I would've sworn he was playing dead if I didn't already know that playing dead was a Hognose's defense. Sure enough, when I walked away a few feet and turned back around, he rolled right back over and went off on his merry snakey way.

I don't think people know how common 'possums are simply because they're nocturnal. Here's the business end of one. (It's bluff. They're harmless. You can actually poke one and it'll just gape and hiss out you. Do not ask me how I know this).

The roadrunner is the state bird from where I come from. They're not big like they are in those cartoons, nor do they smile. They actually look kind of mean.

bow-worm (I know, looks like a snake right?) 2nd non-venomous snake in Norway, next to the "steel-worm" / slow worm.

Red tailed fox. Long Island, New York. Too lazy to find a picture; the little bastards are always skirting across my lawn at night. Cute though.
