My cats constantly try to lick the milk out of my cereal bowl.
>> Anonymous
When I get a bowl of cereal or a glass of milk my cats literally climb all over me to get to it almost every single time and won't stop untill they realise it's gone.

Cats LIKE milk but most of them are lactose intolerant and gives them diarrhea.
>> Anonymous
I wonder if mine is the only one that doesn't like milk.
>> Anonymous
My cats never drank milk.
>> Anonymous
While cats might -like- milk, once they're beyond the kitten age, milk often upsets their stomachs in the most awful way.

adult animals are not meant to drink milk. this does not mean they do not like it.

Speaking of this, I heard a while back that humans used to be lactose-intolerant as well, but adapted to drinking nonhuman milk over the generations. Is this true?

Most people still are lactose intolerant.

>>231283
All mammals are lactose tolerant during the early part of their life, when they are dependent on their mother's milk. Usually after that they become lactose intolerant to help the weaning process. Some individuals carry a mutation that allows them to remain lactose tolerant all of their lives, and among humans this trait has become widespread where people drink farm animal milk.

My cats are always whining for milk...

the mutation exists in populations that traditionally had/used milk: parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. This is why most native Americans and some Asians/Africans are lactose intolerant.
Also you can lose lactose tolerance if you don't eat dairy for about a year.
>> Allergic to Cats Anon
Dads cat loves milk - he turns up at the dairy always to get some warm, fresh from the cow...!

Really? Like, all dairy or just a drastic reduction?
>> Anonymous
>>231699
If you drastically reduce the amount of dairy you consume, your body will drastically reduce its ability to process it.

It's not like the "loss" is permanent. force yourself a little and your body will regain it.

I tried this. It doesn't work. But I'm Black/Native American, so I doubt it's going to happen for me at all.

well why would a cat want to drink cows milk. it's a cat. not a cow.
>> Anonymous
>>231723
Cause in nature you can't be picky about your protein, fat and carb sources.
It's not like there's a label on milk: cow protein only.

Cow's milk, cat food and central heating -cats love 'em, but they are all harmful to their health!
