First off, talk to your vet. They'll have a lot more useful advice, and you'll need to stay in contact with then during your new horse's pregnancy anyway.

This link is very basic, but gives the gist of it.. most people stop riding a few months before the mare gives birth, and riding should probably be gently before then anyway.
