Millipede venom/toxin Anonymous
sup /an/.
I was just at a friend's house and caught a millipede in a jar. My purpose was to feed it to my pet desert tortoise. Then I got online and googled for millipedes, and I found out that they're venomous.
My question to you is, can a millipede harm a desert tortoise? What if I kill it first? Also, I'm only 90% sure it's a millipede and not a centipede.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I am a very careful person so if that thing has any chance of harming me/my pet, i will murder it first :P I wouldn't recommand feeding it to your pet anyways.

They are not poisonous but can still make a human sick and from what I remember, stink like hell. Throw it away!

Uhh... what? Millipedes aren't venomous, centipedes are. As a defense millipedes do tend to be toxic, however. If you can't even be sure of the difference between a millipede and centipede, which isn't that fucking hard, you shouldn't be feeding anything you catch to your pets... hell, why the fuck would you consider feeding a millipede to a desert tortoise in the first place? You shouldn't even own a goddamn tortoise.

If that's the case, you could get fined heavily. They're a threatened species and illegal to capture.

So are humans.

What is your point?

You're not bright, are you? Fish and Game states: " It is unlawful to touch, harm, harass or collect a wild Desert Tortoise."

Your tortoise is an illegal captive. You're the type that's caused their population to decline in the southwest.

Keep your turtle. Who cares if they're endangered.
