Hey guys,

I've had a cat for 6 years, got a new one yesterday. My older cat is cocky, huge, and territorial. Our neighbors cat and he always hung around, but one day we brought that cat inside. We haven't seem him since. (seriously.)

Anyway, this new cat is a girl, and only about 5 months old. She is pretty calm, she mostly just afraid of everything. I can't get our older cat to stop hissing at her, and if she gets close, our older cat will try to scratch.

Is time the only thing to make them like each other, or will our old cat always hate the new one?

your old cat will probably always hate her. However, discourage hissing and swiping with water. let them get to know each other on their own terms. Just as long as the old cat decides not to kill new cat.

If you have a territorial cat, then for the love of Shaneequa don't introduce them like that. Put one cat in one room while the other is locked up, then after a few hours, reverse them.

Keep doing this for a few days, but most vets suggest up to two weeks. This is retarded and inconvenient, but the alternative is to expect lotsa fighting and spraying catstink all over your walls.

I've had this happen to me a couple of different times and every time the cats learn to love each other. Before you know it, they'll be licking each other's faces.

Shaneequa is the name of a divine being? So where is the centre of this intriguing new religion?

I have 2 cats. The secons cat is here since 2 years. In the beginning there was just fighting. Nowerdays they sleep together. Give them time. (P.S.: I've heared that you should rub the new cat in used cloth of yours so he smells better for the elder cat)

Not as preferred a past time as it is to you. I'd really rather not.

i also have two cats - mother and daughter. there were so good with each other but for last month it's simply a horror. mother is constatly outdoors and when she comes to eat something she is totally pissed off, attacking kitty and family members
