Haha, damn. I forget to say, "largest flying bird". That is, the largest bird that flies in the sky, obviously. Thanks again.

Albatross?
Aren't they the ones who can pick up sheep and stuff? I believe they live close to the ocean.

The bird with the longest wingspan is the wandering albatross with the wingspan of 3.6m (12ft), but the heaviest flying birds are the great and kori bustard, which both can weigh 20kg (44lb). By far the largest flying bird used to be Argentavis magnificens, the only truly predatory bird of this lot, but it's extinct.

OP said flying... according to Wiki, Brontoris's were likely flightless.

"Likely"? Really? I guess they are playing it safe just in case it turns out these giants had helium-filled bellies that allowed them to float, but come on!

BTW, the record holder in the heaviest bird category is Aepyornis maximus.

Heh, but that's a myth, however when I looked up wikipedia they said that another bird could have inspired the myth of the Roc.

"It is possible that the origin of the myth of the Roc lies in extrapolations of the witnessed power of the eagle that could carry away a newborn lamb; references to the roc are found as early as the 8th century from Middle-Eastern authors, but in 1863 Bianconi suggested the roc was a raptor (Hawkins and Goodman, 2003: 1031). Much later, a giant subfossil eagle was actually implicated (Goodman, 1994)."

This it? Silly as it sounds, I was looking to see if there were actually a bird that a human being could ride on. This looks like the closest thing (I know it must be a recreation, if it is the bird in question).

Yeah, they existed. But they'd have ripped your guts out if you ever tried to ride them. In fact they'd probably have ripped your guts out even if you didn't.
