You really shouldn't let dogs eat raw pork, for the same reason your shouldn't eat it yourself.

But dont dogs kill shit themselves and eat it raw in the wild?
>> Anonymous
>>42202
Yeah, they do. And the life expectancy of a wild dog is generally less than two years.

Strange, last I checked wild dogs, or wolves, don't reach sexual maturity until 2 to 3 years old. I guess they are all going to be extinct pretty soon eh?

Also, eating raw meat is only bad when it has been sitting out forever. If you kill something and then proceed to eat it right there the chance of food borne disease is relatively low.

Because everyone knows that wild pigs have always lived in the taiga.

I'd think real meat would be good for a dog.

your all ignorant bastards...the reason why they shouldnt eat raw pork is taenia solium, i.e. the pork tapeworm! if a human or dog eats the larvae they will go into the brain and fucking own you.

OH NO, IT'S THE PIG FROM PRINCESS MONONOKE! THE FUCKING WOLVES FINALLY GOT 'EM!

no, because of the aujeszky virus. deadly to dogs, harmless to humans.

Just because dogs eat something in the wild doesn't have to mean that it is best for them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichinosis
trichinosis parasite - "When a human or animal eats meat that contains infective Trichinella cysts, the acid in the stomach dissolves the hard covering of the cyst and releases the worms. The worms pass into the small intestine and, in 1-2 days, become mature. After mating, adult females lay eggs. Eggs develop into immature worms, travel through the arteries, and are transported to muscles."

my biology teacher said they then try to exit the body by eating through the flesh. the infection can be leathal if they eat through something vital but most of the time they set up camp in a major muscle and not something like your heart or brain. she showed us this really awful picture of worms coming out of some guy's gums. biology classes will make you vegitarian if you're not careful

ain't that the truth.

But seriously, this is like guinea worm disease, it's possible but unprobable. Let's not forget these animals have been eating raw meat far longer than we have.

And that absinth kills most parasites like that anyways. Gives you alcohol poisoning, but that's better than worms eating their way out through your gums.

Or am I thinking of parasites that only live in your stomach or some other location of your digestive system?

Wild dogs != wolves, especially if you are referring to domesticated dogs gone feral. Even if they have lived their entire lives feral, they were still of domesticated stock; domestication changes the physiology of the animal, and makes them so that they cannot process the foods they ate pre-domestication as well.

Food-bourne illnesses exists even if the creature has been freshly killed. You don't really think that the creature you just killed has absolutely nothing living inside it, do you? Not counting bacteria or other single celled organisms, over half of all the creatures on earth are parasites. For every different type of creature. Also, bacteria live nearly everywhere, on every part of an animal's body. You have E. coli inside of you right now, E. coli that is used to you and you are used to, and if someone else got your E. coli in them it would make them sick.

Don't tell me the chance of food-bourne illness is low in freshly killed creatures until you have eated freshly slaughtered, uncooked, untreated meat, and not gotten sick.

Go ahead.

it depends on the type of meat and where it was grown, for example, fresh fish meat or labgrown/cloned meat.

>and if someone else got your E. coli in them it would make them sick

huh so what about analingus and A2M? can you only do it with your family members and maybe your wife on your 30th anniversary since you're used to their coli?

Molecular biologist here. Gut bacteria are called 'good' bacteria because they aid digestion. You don't have any special relationship with them, but in the gut (and the ass) they're not exposed to an immune response - they're not in your tissue or bloodstream, so you don't get sick and they don't get fucked in the ass by white blood cells.

Going A2M is likely to give you a taste (har har) of these, but unless they disrupt the established chemical balance and give you a tummyache, nothing bad will happen.

If you're eating flesh, however, you're exposed to a number of viruses (including retrovirii) that are endemic to your dinner's system, and when immersed in a new environment (as some will avoid digestion) these are the things that will seriously fuck you up.
