sup /an/

I've been keeping fish for a while now. I started off with your typical community tropical tank and have moved through most generic community fish and now keep African Cichlids.

However, I've gotten a bit bored with the lack of variety and want something new. I don't want to go marine. Can /an/ suggest any fish that could be awesome to keep? I'm thinking of making a tank with just three or four really awesome fish. Can /an/ think of anything that could interest me? I have a three foot, 150 litre tank, so i sort of have size restrictions.

tl;dr: awesome fish plox.

Well, its about 40g for empirefriends.
Interesting fish? You could try a freshwater puffer, or even do a brackish tank - that would be interesting experience.
How about a crayfish?
You might try some sort of eel, though for the most species you would be stretching it.
Maybe bichir? Though the volume could be a problem.

Oscars. Period.

Most fun watching a bigger fish spit out littler fish sparkles.

I kept a crayfish once. It ate everything else in the tank. It would actively hunt all the other fish. It was pretty neat, but know if you have one, don't bother getting any other expensive fish.

I had a couple of oscars a couple of years back, crazy things used to jump in the air and grab food out of my hand- fucking cool.
they're also very messy, I could never keep the tank clean having just an internal filter >_>

I heard you could put a ping pong ball in a tank with oscars and keep them entertained for hours.

Oscars grow too big for 30 gallon tank, I would recomend 70 as a minimum, search for something smaller.

Hmmm long list fo things you could do that are diffrent. You could try a Rope Fish.

Could get three or four of Leopard Ctenopoma. They are interesitng looking. Not much eles.

You can also get one single pirhana!

african butterfly fish 3-4 of them
shell dwelling cichlids are neat
mostly you are going to run into size requirement issues with most interesting fish.
I would say get a silver arowana but you would eventually have to upgrade to at least 180gallons. which might not sit well with anyone else living in the house, especially since they would be pretty much the only fish in the tank.
If you wanted something interesting that will eat other fish I would say bichirs. they are interesting and don't move too much or get very big.

Green spotted puffer fish are pretty awesome, no one really expects them to be freshwater animals
