Only because our brain and complex society allows us to avoid the physical duress that would otherwise land us in a similar physical state.

Only 50 years ago was the average man and woman very strong through daily activities, imagine back in the dark ages where EVERYTHING was done by hand and relied on strength? daily farming, hiking to areas, etc..
Also regular war and thus melee combat, try lifting a stainless steel sword replica and swinging it, then think that iron is what they were made out of back then, as well as armour, and it was double the weight. Woman were left to do the man's job when a war was happening, so they were also built like brick shithouses

Apes spend the whole of their growing lives just surviving, climbing, running, etc.. if they could sit around and do nothing then they'd be weak, fat and lazy as well.

Actually their muscles are different than ours. That's what makes them inherently stronger whether they exercise more or not. i forget what the difference in the muscles is though.

More fast twitch!...

They are made for quick and powerfull push, while humans are more suited for long endurance exercises. Human can run faster and longer than a chimp can. Actually, in a long distance (40km+) runners are faster than horse riders.
Monkeys were made to sit in the forest and throw rocks at each other, people were made to run long distances and eat anything that they find on the way.

uh, there is no man on earth who could beat a healthy horse in a 40km race.

Horses can't maintain high speeds as long as humans can. Like all herbivores, horses tend to be best at distances less than a mile, because that is usually enough to shake off most fast-running predators. Humans are built for running prey to exhaustion, just like wolves.

Steroid abuse my best guess.

Alopecia can happen to any primate.

Also, my guess is that's a she, based on the prominent nipples.

It's not fast twitch although they might have more of those too. It has to do with the point of attachment of arms. see how theirs are longer? they get a lot more torque from their muscles. i've done problems working out the maximum force a human vs orangutan can lift in biophysics courses

Wow, amazing vidoe, thanks.
I wonder, can man outrun a wolf on long distances?

In a straight out run? Very, very slight maybe.
But wolves have a certain type of jog they can keep up for like 5 miles without even starting to get tired.
