My cat has recently been getting bumps and scabs around (mainly) her neck.

I'm positive it isn't fleas, and she does not go outside. From what I've read this is a symptom of an allergic reaction to something, usually food. However, I have always given her the same kind of food and this has never happened before.

Any idea if these will clear up by themselves, or what I should do? Any shampoos/treatments that will help this? Or should I just take her straight to the vet?

One of my cats gets those occasionally. They usually last a few weeks and then heal on their own. The first thing I thought was fleas, but he didn't have any.
My vet was pretty clueless. She suggested the food allergy thing. I've tried many different kinds of foods and he's gotten them regardless.
Wait and see if it clears up. If not, take her to the vet.

That's what I was thinking.. they don't seem to affect her (other than scratching more than usual)

Hopefully they clear up on their own.

Are they black and under her chin? I had a cat with those once. Vet said it was feline acne (do a google image search for pics) and gave us some stuff to put on it. Cleared it up pretty quick, but boy did she ever not like it.

Oh, uh. Note that if you DO do a google image search for it there's some rather gross stuff in there. If you're wussy about that you might want to just look for text resources.

It might be allergies. Have your vet give kitty a cortisone shot and see if it helps - if it does, allergies! If not, oh well, it never hurts.
