cat problem mentalpuff
Dear /an/, I've a siamese cat, he's roughly 2 years old. About a year ago I took him for some vaccinations (forgot what kind) and afterwards he started exhibiting gradual retardation. His coordination's off, he's wobbly when he walks or stands, can't run very well. He has this habit of going to shit/pee in corners and closets. Sometimes when he's asleep he just urinates the sheets he's sleeping on. He used to use litter boxes before. Any suggestions as to how to get him to pee/poo in litter boxes again?

there are many things that could be contributing to your cat not acting "normal" you need to possibly take it in to get further testing done, for feline leukemia, cancer, aids, etc. Another thing is, if you smack or beat your cat when he messes you could have caused brain damage. There could also be something in your house that he is allergic to. You also need to get him checked for any kind of disease and parasites. I have 4 cats and live in the country sometimes they spray and get all pissed off when strange cats are spraying by our house. But siameses are also more prone to getting sick,*from what I've noticed* so there are many things you need to think of here. But I would highly recomend that you take it to the vet, talk with them about it before doing anything rash.

he's got mad cat disease from the vaccine

for cereal feline spongiform encephalopathy is a real disease and it can be transmitted from vaccines...I would doubt that's what he has. I hope not anyway :/

I read into that, and it sounds like a possibility. I've taken him to the vet a few times and asked about it, all they could do was suggest these anti depressant pills normally (the vet said they've been used on cats as well) used for dogs, they were something of that sort. They're supposed to make him calm and less stressed. I discontinued them after about 2 weeks when I noticed that he just became a lot lazier and ate less. I figure it had something to do with his vaccinations since it started going downhill from that. I think the damage has been done, since I don't think brain damage is reversible.

the same thing happend to my cat. ask your vet what vaccines were given and how many. in my cats case it was that they gave him the 3 year rabies shot and like 3 other shots all in the same day. some cats arent able to handle the side effects of these vaccines all at once. my cat eventually got better on his own but now we spread out the time between the shots he gets. hope this helps!

take your cat to a diffrent vet please your vet sounds like he doesn't know a damn thing about what's wrong with your cat

That's a Champagne Tonkanese. Not a Siamese. Know your cats for sheep's sake!

I second the taking him to another vet thing. if there's a possibility of FSE it has to be taken very seriously, spongiforms are notifiable diseases, and it may be very bad public health news depending on what country you're in...

Interesting. One of my cats also totally changed tho after surgery, not vaccines. Another cat of mine tho got deathly sick after the vaccines so we stopped giving them to him.

*sigh* I hope whatever is wrong is minor and somehow irreversable. Poor baby

Male cat? Do you feed him dry cat food at all?

Male cats can get bladder and urinary tract infections quite easily, so if his peeing patterns have changed, go to the vet & make sure there's not a medical condition that's causing it.

Why do you assume it's cos he's stupid?

A stupid cat walks on paint.

A SICK cat loses physical coordination and bowel/bladder control.

TAKE HIM TO A VET YOU IDIOT!
