Dude really shouldn't have been driving in that condition. Cop was a dick and ideally should have attended to the dog, but honestly dude really shouldn't have been driving in that condition.

Where the fuck was the guy trying to go in the middle of the night to save a choking dog?
>> Anonymous
>>297803
>Cop was a dick and ideally should have attended to the dog...

Operational Risk Management dictates that the guy might've tried to create a distraction. Both cops checked out the dog when really, one of them should've been keeping tabs on the guy, just in case.

>>297803
>Where the fuck was the guy trying to go in the middle of the night to save a choking dog?

Good question. It's not like there are hospitals that provide emergency treatment to dogs... like... an emergency vet clinic... or something.
>> Anonymous
Although I do agree with>>297803that the guy shouldn't be driving the cop WAS out of line, he should have been a responsible citizen and assisted the guy instead.

Although I do know for sure I wouldn't have been able to keep my cool.
>> Anonymous
>>297806

So the cops weren't following protocol anyway, is what you're saying.

I'd be seriously surprised and upset if cops weren't trained in emergency tracheotomies or escorting vehicles to hospitals, even if the training is aimed at helping choking humans and women in labor.

Anyway, I'm not really saying "OMG DOGS ARE PEOPLE TOO" or anything, or even that the cops are horrible people for not saving the dog, just that they probably should have thought of some better option than holding the guy for 15 minutes and telling him he can get another dog.

>>297807

For choking? That's always struck me as a "have the hospital nurse talk you through it on the phone" issue rather than a "speed 100mph down the highway in hysterics" issue.
>> Anonymous
>>297812
>The dog had started choking at home, then threw up and went limp.

I somehow doubt the heimlich maneuver would have been able to save it and I don't think makeshift tracheotomies are something nurses typically walk people through.

Wow that pisses me off because that kind of shit happens here, too (in Oklahoma, cops are just as bad.)
See how he just stands there in the dudes doorway listening to his wife screaming and crying at him that the dog needs help? He just stands there, fucking sadistic bastard. He had all right to pull the guy over, but to detain him for 15 minutes was out of line, especially when it is a cops oathe to protect and SERVE. He could have easily escorted them there like cops are supposed to, not fucking watch it die, and then try to accuse the driver that he's "on" something because he's rationally freaking out.

I hope that cop has a dog that chokes, and then gets pulled over and has another asshole cop do the same and see how he likes it. Oh, but that never happens since cops always do favors for eachother -.- Goddamnit I hate corrupt police. It's so bad here in the south.

Give reasons why humans are more valuable than animals--Is it because we're more intelligent, no. Humans are intelligent on a human scale, animals are intelligent on their own scale: An animal can survive without any tools, using wit and instinct and knowledge of woods, edible foods, etc, said animal might not be on par with human mentally and consciously, but if a human was to be judged on an animal's scale of intelligence, we'd be just as stupid as an animal judged on a human's scale of intelligence.

However, if it was between me and any animal, or another human and almost any animal I would save myself or the other human. Why? Not because humans are better than any other species, but because we have something vital called species bias, it was necessary in our evolution a species to care more for our own kind, than other animals.

Does that make us better? No. Does that mean anything at all will care when the human race dies out? Not likely.

We're just animals too.

Let me know the next time you see an animal make any contribution to society individually, then I might agree that an animal's lives can be as valuable as a human's lives.

But as I am aware of no such instance of an animal making individual contribution, the value is clearly in favor of human life, and I do find I agree with basically everything this officer said.

The guy shouldn't have been speeding, but there's no reason the officer couldn't have escorted them to the vet after realizing the situation and given the man the ticket there.

Imagine the rage if someone pulled over a guy with his wife going through labor in the back seat and the cop said something like "She's just going through labor, OK? It happens every day. Relax." True, the woman could likely deliver the baby fine without medical treatment, but who the fuck would let that happen?

People go to jail for killing and mistreating animals, allowing them to die and whatnot. This cop should at least get suspended for a few weeks and have to take a training class on how to deal with hysterical citizens instead of just threatening them with jail time and telling them they shouldn't be upset that their dog is dying.

The market price for a single straw of wagyu breed semen from a non prize-winning bull averages $95.

A sperm clinic will pay a healthy person at most $35-40 bucks for a load.
>> Anonymous
I person I work with once told me:

"If you love your wife or children more than you love your dog, you're a damn liar"

And thats 100% true because no matter one an well trained dog will be obedient to you until the end. And will ALWAYS learn from its mistakes.

Your kid? You punish him or her and they think of ways not to get caught the next time. Deceitful little bastards.

What I'd do is I'd send this video to the local SPCA and have the cop questioned and fined. right there is animal abuse and the cop is the abuser. Cops are trained to escort hurt individuals to hospitals. They're also trained in situations like this and ever radio band as the closest SPCA office waiting for them to call in cases like this.

Escort the fucking person to the clinic before it dies.

>>298204
100% true. Human live is nothing compared to that love that a single dog could give you for more years (if well trained and healthy) than any rule breaking child could ever give you for the 18 some odd years of taking your money, breaking your rules, and fucking their lives up.

lolwut. I think you're giving humans way too much credit. Most people are just as replaceable as an animal, the only ones who find most people 'special and unique' are those close to the person who care about them. The same can be said for an animal.

If a factory worker is killed on the job, it isn't hard to find and train someone else to take their place. The only people really heartbroken by this loss with be the worker's family and friends. If a dog dies, it's easy to buy and train another dog. The only people really heartbroken will be the people who owned and cared for the dog.

8-19 (AP) A Texas couple, who were pulled over for speeding while rushing their choking dog to an emergency vet clinic, said their pet died after officers held them for 15 minutes. The incident was caught-on-tape.

You inhuman bitch, factory workers have friends, family, relatives, and even potentially a family and various consumers that rely on them. At the opposite spectrum, scientists have kept Albert Einstein's brain and analyzed it, and have found nothing unique about it, therefore it was not his genes which made him a genius and make great contributions to the world, it was his unique experiences and personality, which are not copyable by any means today.

So that means when we see dances on a stage, we know they are all exactly the same personality. Oh, and when we meet the conductor on the train, we know all conductors are just alike, because when we see them in this one environment we can make a judgement there and then, what their personality is like if they are away from that environment.

>>298345

Enjoy being an emotionless machine, don't come crying to anyone when you're feeling sad for anything, just remember you're replaceable and being a whiney bitch at any point in your life by your standards should deem you are broken and thus should be replaced like a flickering light bulb. (The picture is meant for you)

No, humans cannot imitate other humans like a dog can imitate another dog, because the contrast of individuality vs instinct is radically different for each species.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate. I actually agree that people are all individuals and have individual worth.

I also believe that each animal, especially family pets, maybe not so much for wild animals who live on instinct, are very individual as well. Two of the same animal raised the same way will not necessarily act the same way.

Jack Russels are all hyperactive little shits in the same way that rednecks all own pickup trucks.

People are trying to defend that family pets are so replaceable while not realizing that when you look at it from an outsider's point of view, most humans are easily replaceable as well. Millions of people die everyday and it's likely you don't care about any of them, but the people they're close to care. When the family dog down the street dies, you don't really care that much, but that family is probably grieving for their loss.

Animals aren't the same as humans, but pets are still important to the people who care about them.
>> Anonymous
>>298391Animals aren't the same as humans, but pets are still important to the people who care about them.
As obviously shown by the irrationality of this couple after their dog started choking. But basically that is the extent of that argument. Human beings are important beyond what their immediate surroundings might deem them to be, because humans have a much higher potential to do good than animals. Any argument otherwise against this cop is basically saying that this couple's caring feelings about their dog should be placed higher than actual human lives.

Because properly prosecuting troubling behavior which endangers human lives and straightening out someone's priorities is far more important than a dog's life. Officers are told to escort individuals on a trip to a hospital for humans, and regardless, driving over 100mph without notifying the local dispatcher will get you pulled over and talked to no matter what the situation.

Missed /a/, but seriously, getting a dog to the vet because you were too fucking stupid to take care of it by going over 100 miles an hour is so fucking stupid. It doesn't take a genius to realize that that's fucking dangerous. Hey, here's an idea; maybe call the police first? No, no, it's okay. I swear, these people who're probably too stupid to breathe without help don't deserve a dog. Like today I saw a woman taking a turn with one hand while talking on her cell (lolo, illegal), with her unbuckled dog walking around her lap. Oh, and the stop light as broken.
