My A. Avicularia has gotten loose. No clue when he got out, but I know he is not in his terrarium. What do I do?

Turn the lights off. Leave the room. Come back in several hours time with a flashlight and look for it on a wall.

I would start in the area around the terrarium..chances are (unless it's a mature male) it probably won't wonder all that far once it finds a nice dark spot that seems secure. Then do what Anonymous said. Leave the room alone for a while, and dark, then come back and watch for any movement..it might not move at all though and just sit there. After the lights are out for a while..it should be just like in the terrarium..they will move towards the entrance of their hide so they can be close to safety as well as passing prey.

Good luck!

Lol, mine has escaped several times.

I came home from class one day to find her enclosure spilled onto the floor and scattered everywhere. My cat must have seen it crawling around and knocked the tank off of the shelf. I checked the cat's mouth first for bits of spider, but ended up finding it hiding behind my bed. Safe and sound :)

The other escapes were caused by my stupidity, and a very opportunistic spider who can fit through TINY openings (also extremely fast and jumpy!)

Good luck finding it. Mine likes to crawl up to the ceiling and/or hide in my bed.
