Me again... It's been over two months now. We've been training her and training her and following all the guides and all the expert advice and she still keeps biting. Now that she's getting bigger it's getting a lot worse. I took her for a walk in the woods earlier, she was fine and happy. Then I told her it was time to come inside and started walking in. She barked and snarled and pulled on the leash so I went to pick her up (to carry her over the barrier on the steps) and she -really- bit my hand... It's getting to be too much, :\

I love your pictures of Cocoa and Crush. Have you tried getting some of that bad tasting spray you spray on stuff to get puppies to stop chewing on stuff? Try putting some of that on your hands.

Looks like you don't love your puppy enough. Puppies are extremely sensitive to human love and can tell if someone's just being nice and if someone truly loves them. Invite the pup into your bed, throw away his crate, leave kibble out all day and set the TV's timer to turn on when Avatar: The Last Airbender comes on.
When you get home take him outside, chase squirrels and bark at naughty cats.

Shee doesn't have a crate, he gets 24/7 attention, she has steady access to food. We don't bring her into the beds because she gets wild around your face. To say we don't love her is fucking bullshit.

Hah! Yet you deprive your dog of Avatar: The Last Airbender!!!

I'll be honest, she's only seen the first 6 episodes of season 3 :(

Don't mind him. According to most of /an/ you could spend every waking moment with your pet, feed them 1000 dollar meals and lavish gold and jewels upon them and you'd still be an animal hating, abusive monster.

just smash the shit out of her with a chain until she gets in line

i was alway told that if they bite your hand, you should pinch their tongue really quickly (not really hard or anything)

but i'm pretty sure that was meant for playful biting rather than aggressive biting, so i dunno.

>>172673
What breed is that? I know you've been asked this in every thread so far but I kept forgetting.

Playful biting really is the problem. This is the first time she's -ever- bitten aggressively. I didn't hurt her but I certainly got after her. I yelled at her, said she was bad. She slinked off... And dragged a bunch of clothes out of the closet. So I got after her again. She pisses on the floor. So I'm getting pretty pissed off at this point so I go put her in a room and shut the door. When I open it she had torn up a chair. *sigh* I've raised maaany animals and none have been as stubborn as Cocoa.

Thank you for this thread. Just reminds me why I don't want to get a dog. I love dogs but I've seriously forgotten how difficult they can be.
>> Anonymous
My dog had this problem too, although not as bad as yours seems to be. Similar to>>172701, I was told to jab your fingernail underneath its tongue. It might seem impossible, especially if your puppy still has its insanely sharp puppy teeth, but give it a try if you haven't. Had trouble with mine at first, but once I admittedly pushed down too hard and drew a little blood. Ever since then she's been careful about biting, and even if she accidentally bites my hand while playing she'll stop everything and start licking my hands as if saying "Sorry, that was an accident, please don't stab me. :("

in b4 Petafags want to arrest me for animal abuse.

This made any dog I owned obidient, in which then got the love it wanted. No more biting and pissing on the floor = love.

When I had my old pit bull and he would play bite, we did two things.

One was to get up on our feet, thereby being the dominant dog/alpha. Then we turned our back on him until he got the idea. It works for jumpers, too. It's excellent. Another one is the high yip. She seems to be in her puppy stage, so whenever she starts biting, let out a very high frequency yip like a dog in pain, and she should let off.

How often do you exercise her? She's an Amstaff mix, and should be exercised at least 2-3 hours a day. It's one of the pit bull breeds and really needs that amount of exercise daily. Treadmills can be a lifesaver, though, so try to buy an electric one, because those are cheaper to maintain. One hour on the treadmill is like 2 hours of physical activity if you set it high enough. A tired pit bull is a happy pit bull. You can find these on Craigslist.com really cheap. There is a brand that you can get for under 1000 dollars and it's electric, but I can't remember the name right now. Dog powered ones tire them out more, but they're harder to maintain, and you have to change the conveyor belt.

Is she also well socialized? For a pit bull mix of any breed to bite a human is a SERIOUS fault. These breeds were bred to be animal aggressive for dog fighting, but not human aggressive so their handlers could touch them in the ring without injury. The root of this problem is probably exercise, get her a treadmill, IMMEDIATELY. In the winter months, she'll go crazy if you don't get her exercise.

once my dog bite me and I hit her with my hand and it hurt for like two days. Now that bitch doesn't bite me and just runs aways from me when I come home. Also she is more relax and submits when I am close.

The 'turn your back thing' has -no- effect. She just... Walks off and does something else. The high yelp makes her back at you. We took her to play with her brothers and sisters next door daily but now they only fight. She gets a lot of play time (we take her for runs in the forest in our back yard)and that seems to tire her out. She's just very stubborn personality wise. You get mad at her, she barks back at you. I have high hopes for the spray (putting it on my hands) but other than that I guess it'll just be trial and error for awhile huh?

Get a little spray bottle and fill it with water. If the dog/cat does something bad, squirt them once. 90% of the time they hate it. I have trained multiple dogs and cats that way and it works great.

Feed it antifreeze, I hear it calms them down.

you've got to be fucking kidding me...

OP, you SHOULD be crating her and scheduling her meals. Dogs need structure in their daily lives, she needs to understand that there's down time (crate time), play time, meal time etc.

This is my favorite dog training link. Please, if you are serious about taking the best care of your pup, read these pages: http://dogtrainingbasics.com/articles.htm

OP, are you listening to me?! >:(

how old is she?
my puppy went through a brief mean period, but the tongue pinching thing and spray bottle fixed that.

does she bark or growl at strangers?
>> Anonymous
>>172808

Seconded. We started crate training our puppy right away and she eats twice a day at almost exactly the same time.

I feel for you, OP. I was told to tap the dog on the nose or hold their muzzle shut when they bit but it didn't do much of anything. Now we've taken to pulling her back by the neck when she gets too rough since in case anyone noticed, it's nearly impossible to grab the dog's face when they're swinging their head around like crazy with their mouth wide open.

I am afraid of hurting her sometimes but most of the whines or cries or just out of protest.. Though it sucks when she attacks outside at night and I have to get after her and she squeals like a dying pig. The neighbors probably think we abuse our animals.

Anyway, good luck with your beast.

Crating isn't absolutely necessary. You do need an area that is specifically designed as an out of the way quiet place. A laundry room, mudroom or foyer can work. Easy access to food is absolutely unacceptable. Would you allow a child unlimited access to cookies and candy? The same principle is in effect for your dog and feeding.

However, you MUST be dominant at all times. I've always felt that high pitched yipping only works on a properly socialized animal. PETA fags won't admit it but there is nothing wrong with physical corrections. Choke and electric shock collars are a decent alternative.

If the biting continues this dog needs to be destroyed before she seriously injures someone.

2nd'ed, ffs. smack the shit out of her ass, bite her on the ear and growl at her. if she's batshit insane, you are fuckall out of luck. be the fucking alpha dog, time out is obviously not working

Excuse me, TREADMILLS? Holy shit you must be an incompetent animal trainer.

If you gotta exercise them, take them out to the park or the forest and throw sticks and stuff. That way she'll learn to interact with YOU, and not the fucking treadmill. She's not a labrat.
>> AnonymouS
Some animals do not respond to normal training.

Some animals NEED to be physically trained. A solid fwap to the skull will do it. Not too hard, but hard enough.

tl;dr - hit your dog you stupid cunt.

GAWD DAMN IT.

I've been telling you to get the fucking Bitter Apple spray since Thread #1.
