I want to stuff my cat when she dies. Is that wrong? How much do these things cost usually? And where does one find a taxidermist?

Pic semi-related.

I saw a case about this on one of those afternoon judge shows. It didn't go well, and the plaintiff wanted a refund. I remember that it was for thousands of dollars, that she found the freeze drier (not a taxidermist) in a web search, and that she rejected taxidermy since the hide is the only part of the animal that is used.

I good, classy mount for a cat will probably cost anywhere around $150-$200 assuming they do it, maybe more since it is VERY difficult to make a traditional mount look like your pet. You best friend Cash can easilt turn into just another random german shepard.

I don't know about freeze drying prices, but it seems like that is the way to go if you want your cat to be your cat ya know

Also, tabby skin.

much more then that! i was watching that show on national geographic, Taboo, and a man paid $2500 to have a pet rabbit done! its a lot, especially if you want it done well to look like your pet(or as close as they can get) good luck on your venture, you may need it!

Right, somewhere there was a story about someone who sent their Pomeranian to a taxidermist - it was a 10lb dog and came back looking like an bloated 30lb fox.

that guy got ripped off, $2500 could buy you a whole mountain lion taxidermy exhibit?

A good coyote mount is like $300

Whatever floats your boat I guess, but personally I could never have my animals stuffed when they die. It would creep the FUCK out of me to have their dead bodies hanging around my house.

I have a stuffed Barn Owl, poor thing was dead at the side of the road, but that's different. The Barn Owl wasn't a member of the family.

If you live in the U.S. be careful. I almost got fined just for taking a couple feathers off a dead barn owl I found in the desert.

Thanks for the warning, but I'm UK. :) Got the thing stuffed years before bird-flu got here too, so no worries there.
