Hey /an/

I have a 29 gallon tank (pic related, but not mine) that I want to clean out and set up. What should I put in it? Nothing fully aquatic, but something that could get by with a dish or small tub of water.

Getting an animal just because you have a spare aquarium you want to put something in is fucking stupid. You're just going to get bored with it and it'll suffer and die because you're an ass.

tl;dr- Androctonus scorpions make great pets and need practically no water.

ahaha who cares about animals, they don't have feelings

I say fill it with water nonetheless, get a light, and grow plants in it.

Underwater plants are pretty neat, if you have fish to clean up the messes they make.

Get hermit crabs. Use a little water on one end and need some rocks on the other. Creepy little fuckers. Need more than one if you go with them though, they get lonely and die if they don't have a partner.

Underwater plants are pretty cool.

If you can take care of plants, you can take care of fish. Setup a planted tank, get a bunch of different kinds, java ferns are easy to take care of and crypts are easy as well. Fill it up, see if you can keep the plants alive and flourshing for a few months. If you can do it, add some tetras and you will have yourself a beautiful tank.

Thank goodness you are using good quality bedding there, you know how allergic those can be. I'm curious though, do you use live or frozen babies for feeding?

fuk u fgt
But seriously, what happened was that I left it in my parents' care when I moved out. It was fully planted with a couple of fish in it. Came back, the fish were gone, and the plants were in the process of dying. Still have a couple that are hanging on, which I might throw in my cichlid tank. *That* particular tank is still up and running great because cichlids are hardasses and can run fine on flakes when I'm not here. Plus, my mom loves them. I'm not worried about those guys.

In all honesty, I probably won't put anything in the tank for another uh, well, nearly a year, because I'm slated to move again. Maybe twice. I was just bored last night and wondering what would be suitable for keeping in a 29g. SO SINCE YOU HAD TO GO AND MAKE ASSUMPTIONS I HAD TO GIVE YOU MY LIFE STORY GOD DAM

And no I don't think I'm going to get a deadly scorpion. Jerk.

YOU FOOL! You can't keep a cat in a vivarium that small! And get a heat lamp already.

Yeah, of what was in my tank, the java fern is still clinging to life and there's a mysterious borneo fern that might be alive. It might be dead. It never actually changed appearance at all while in my tank so I.. have no idea.

If I end up waiting until I'm completely settled again to fix up the tank, I might do this. I've never actually had a community tank. I do love me some tequila sunrise guppies.

>>235611
That looks like a 20g long. Since I've got a 29g, do you think I could fit two in there?

Note the way I joke around in my post.

I vote leapord gecko(s)

I don't know, do you like bugs? Tarantulas are pretty cool. Or maybe a small snake, but I don't know anything about those.

Fiddler crabs are pretty cool. You can make a little beach on one side of the tank then have water on the other end. I had a pair at one time that would eat fish food flakes from my hand. Fun stuff.

Put a big rock with a hole in it in there. Tell visitors that there's a poisonous animal of some sort (scorpions are good) that lives in the tank, but it's "shy" and doesn't come out a lot. They will spend (hopefully) hours looking for it before they say that they don't see anything in there. That's when you go over to the tank and say "No, he's in there, he's just hid... Uh oh."
Hilarity ensues.

Tl;dr use it as an elaborate prank.

Me too

Leopard geckos are cool, easy to care for, and will live for a hell of a lot longer than a lot of other pets (when properly cared for that is)

I have some crabs that you can have. They're kinda small and hard to catch, but there's tons of them so they're easy to give away.

Those aren't really crabs, Anonymous. That's just a colloquialism.
