It's like taking out your cat's claws and breaking all of your dogs teeth.
Not all animals are fitting to be pets, don't pick one by it's looks.

Assholes. They are good pets for people who aren't as senile or hyperactive as ferret people. Only really big problem besides curiosity is digging. They just aren't legal in several places because of rabies paranoia. I made friends with a "blonde" skunk and she was just great.

What, do you get pissed off when animals are spayed and neutered, too? Get over it. Then again, this IS /an/...I should know this place is swarming with ignorant, Petafag extremists.

ANYWAY,>>234582, this is what Wikipedia told me. Hope it helps:
Domesticated skunks can legally be kept as pets in the UK but they are legal only in certain U.S. states. Mephitis mephitis, the striped skunk species, is the most social skunk and the one most commonly domesticated. When the skunk is kept as a pet, the scent gland is removed. Typical life spans for domesticated skunks are considerably longer than for wild skunks, often reaching 10 years, though it is not unusual for a well cared skunk to live well past 20 years. One problem with U.S. skunks kept as pets is genetic problems due to a lack of genetic diversity. The few breeders of skunks are using the same genetic stock (as none are allowed to be taken from the wild) that was available many decades ago, when skunks were bred for the fur trade instead of the pet trade. Many problems such as undescended testicles, epileptic seizures, etc. are often found with the domestic stock.

what are you peta fags talking about? any animal can be made into pets.. wolves gave us dogs, and larger cats gave us domestic cats. Recently foxes were domesticated.

Skunks make great pets, they're sweet, affectionate and can be very playful (not to the extent of cats or dogs)

So do you housebreak them or box train them?
>> Sam

They are almost instinctually litter trained.
