sup /an/ recently my old man picked up a guinea pig for his place, and MAN the thing is vocal, real cute though, its good to tell when a rodent is hungry (loud squeeks), the thing is afraid to me pet though, and i really would like to pick him up and let him run around

how do i get this thing to trust me?

Hide under his cage, and when you know he is right next to the wall, pop your head up quickly while screaming at the top of your lungs.

They will always be jumpy. However, they like to associate good/bad things with smell/sound.

So basically, when you feed them, talk to them. Don't be mean to them, otherwise they'll think you're even more scary.

Unfortunately, some guinea pigs will never want to be picked up.. That's life.

Put a shirt that you've worn all day in its cage. Then speak calmly to it when you are around it
