Alright, /an/

I've been looking to get a dog for my new house, and I've always loved big dogs. Two dogs I've had in the past have been an Alaskan Malumute and a St. Bernard. I've loved both of them, but they've both sheded like crazy, so I'm looking for a breed of big dogs w/ shortish hair, gimme some suggestions.

i had a st. bernard growing up. fantastic dog and extremely loyal.

it was my first dog and probably the best dog ive ever had. she died at the ripe age of 11. This is the only bad thing about big breeds, health issues and they die fairly early.

Well, 11 is an old age for a giant breed, though I've heard of some living to be 13.

Dalmatians aren't big, I've owned two and they shed like crazy. Fucking stupid to, but mine made up for it in sweetness.

I've babysat two weimaraners and they were both very dependent. Very active and they'd throw a shitfit if you left them alone for any reason.

Shorthair, similar temperment to a bernard I think, sweet cuddle bugs. They do shed though. Look into standard/giant poodles as one anon suggested and see if they could be a match temperment/size wise for you.
Or maybe you could start mastiffoodle breeding...but then I would have to hunt you down and kill you.
