So... New here, pardon me if I'm wrong, but you know things about animals.

If you would, please tell me about the effect on the mother (If you want to narrow things down, a cat) when somebody takes her kittens?

Old caturday pic not very related.

Did OP say "oh, tell me all your personal stories of your cat having kittens"? Fucking no. Nothing to do with OP. At least TRY to connect it.

I believe the mother will USUALLY just forget about it. If she's got other kittens to take care of, she doesn't have time to go looking for one more.

The short term answer is: Your mother cat CAN count, and WILL miss the kittens.

Long term answer: After the kittens grow to be a certain age, the mother's maternal instincts die and she no longer considers them her children, and will actively fight and harm them for invading her space.

Like most animals, she may even try to mate with one of her male offspring once her maternal instincts die.

Maternal instincts are short term? Interesting. Hm. And this whole hiding kittens away when she can't feed them thing...?

I don't know. So I bump!

Well, I agree with different cats react in different ways. My cat desperately tried to look for her kittens for a couple of days when we took a big part of the litter away from her(3 kittens out of 4) and they were two months old already.
