If it weren't for groups like PETA, most people here on /an/, and on the net in general would not have something to rant about so as to take their minds off the fact that they have small penises.

we should breed / genetically modify chickens to taste like beef. I'm sure all it will take is an extra gene or two.

We should genetically engineer a maple tree that grows steak. That way, I could plant on in my yard and when I wanted to grill I could just walk over, pick a fresh, juicy steak right off the tree and throw it right on my grill.

We could modify other plants to grow steak and other meats too. The type of plant would change the flavor, just like marinading it.

I havn't eaten meat for about three years now, but will still have diary products on occasion.

My whole family is big on barbeques and will eat meat with every meal. After watching riduculous exagerated PETA etc videos on youtube I decided I didn't want to eat it anymore. Now I'm at uni and amongst other things have learnt the pros and cons of raising animals for food. My current pov, which is open to interpretation, is that breeding and raising animals for slaughter is not as bad as most people make it out to be, but for me personally I don't like it and won't support it.

Also anyone who says we wern't made to eat meat and you feel healthier when you don't is lying. I have a pretty shit diet anyway, but I'm constantly tired and can easily get a full nights sleep and still sleep all afternoon and during classes. I get hungrier quicker and if it wasn't for fake meat products I'd be fucked, as I hate most veggies.

I also hate immature retards who will have a normal conversation with me until they learn that I'm a vegetarian and will then be like 'for every animal you don't eat I'm going to eat 3' or 'delicious, delicous murder' etc. I don't really care what other people do, but I will offer my opionion if people ask.

my diet consists of primarily whole grains (Hard winter wheat, groats, wild rice and the like) and 16-bean mix. Supplement with a multi-vitamin and occasional meat. Don't eat pork, just leaner cuts of beef and chicken. Also, eggs are a life-saver. One egg = 13 cents

Nothing to do with animal rights, just a poor college kid.
>> Anonymous
>>326499
Actually, I don't know why pork is more expensive than beef where you live, but if more people ate just chicken and pork, or even if they only ate grass-fed beef when they ate some, the world could support a lot more meat eaters. Right now I wonder if the children of my generation will be able to afford to eat beef more than once or twice a year. The world is already in heavy over-use, and global the population is still growing.

This of course has nothing to do with animal rights, other than the right of human animals to survive...

I haven't had meat (besides fish) for about 10 months now, except for a few times when my blood sugar was low and it was the only thing available.
I'm starting to waver on my decision, though. I mean, humans are the dominant species, and most of the animals were bred to be eaten.
I really shouldn't be vegetarian because I'm slightly anemic, but thats why I'm pescitarian. I'm trying to stick to it though, if only because I never stick to anything in my life, ever.

Thanks>>326481

My reasoning is that for the first 16 or so years of my life I ate meat and made the decision to stop eating it by myself, so why can't others do the same?

Fish is meat. It makes me mad that so many vegitarians eat fish and still call themselves vegitarians. Guess what? It's a living creature still being bred and harvested and crammed into tiny ponds for your consumption. Either go all the way or eat a damn hamburger

I haven't had a banana in a month. You don't see me proud of myself
>> Anonymous
>>326449
B12 isn't produced from animal flesh, it's produced from bacterial action. Eat food with a little bit of healthy dirt on it, you'll be fine.

And the problem I always say about going without meat is that for a vegetarian diet to be healthy and adequate, it must be varied. Humans and other apes evolved to live on hundreds of different plant species and the occasional grub or rat if we got lucky. The standard uneducated vegetarian diet is probably a ReadyPac salad with some carrots and tofu, instead of a mixed green salad with carrots, onions, beets, tomatoes, berries, nuts, tofu, lentils, and unpolished rice.

There is nothing in the world more annoying than going out for dim sum and having to plan around one person who won't eat meat except for fish. Yes, you can get lots of stuff with shrimp in it but you can't help but wanting to scream "You stupid bitch! Why are we all sitting here waiting for your food to come because "You can't eat anything with pork in it, only shrimp." YES YOU CAN YOU STUPID FUCKING BITCH! Worst part, this is an adult woman (in her 40s) and my mother in law. She's a really nice woman but infuriatingly ignorant sometimes. She taught my husband all sorts of strange wrong 'facts' when he was a kid that I've been struggling ever since to right him on. God, that vegetarian thing pisses me off. And seeing the whole family pander to her stupidity makes it so much worse.

Hey /an/, /ck/ here. Just wanted to let you know, there are meats that you can buy from when an animal dies of natural causes (and hasn't been tainted/infected/whatever). Also, while there are pills and such to replace certain vitamins and minerals that can only be found in meat, some very important ones, like B12 and certain kinds of protein, have difficulty being absorbed by the body when it is not in the form of real food - I.E., meat. With these two facts, there really is no way that you can say that you don't eat meat on a moral basis - knowing that there are substitutes from raised animals and knowing that your body needs meat, as we are omnivores and not herbivores or carnivores, the moral basis that so many vegans and vegetarians cling to is pretty much absurd rabble coming from a group of people who just haven't been shown the healthy alternatives to eating animals that were raised for slaughter. In that respect, those who are just plain against eating animals need to take a serious look at themselves, not only on a moral level to see if they are against eating meat purely because they are pretentious, but also on an intellectual level. Intellectual level, meaning, take a look at what you are, a human. Since the very beginning of our creation, we have eaten whatever we could get our hands on, whether it be twigs, berries, or the meat of a stray wolf. It has been the way of our species for thousands of years. Denying what you are is simply illogical, and more than likely points out that there is a separate reason for your choice in food products, which brings us back to the previous statement about many vegans just being pretentious.

tl;dr, get over it, you skinny bastards, thousands of years of eating meat *and* greens has made our bodies dependent on both of them. Stop thinking about kittens and enjoy a freshwater trout filleted with butter oil.

No, rape is not an instinct. The desire for sexual intercourse, however, is. The action of rape is when one is forcing their partner into having sexual relations without consent - if you're having problems with finding a partner, you should do what the rest of the world does, and rub one off or stick something hard in your cunt. However, I will acknowledge that rape has been around...pretty much since man discovered meat.

I'm a vegetarian. I'm happy with it. I think animals suffer unnecessarily in factory farms, and I don't want to participate in it, as I've always considered myself an animal lover. Why that simple fact is such a threat to some people I have no idea.

I've been a vegetarian my entire life. I do it because I don't need to eat meat and I think it's really douchy to make something else suffer just to have a slightly tastier meal. I'm not a "live and let live" Vegetarian because I believe the farming and eating of meat is wrong. Also, I'm tired of this stereotypical skinny vegetarian shit, I'm going to sound like I'm lying but I'm 6'9, I lift weights, and if anything I'm a bit on the heavy side. I think you people also need to realize that eventually humans will no longer be able to eat meat. What with our exploding population and the something like 10 ounce plant matter to 1 ounce meat conversion. So I'm going to win the long game you fuckers.

>>Humans and other apes evolved to live on hundreds of different plant species and the occasional grub or rat if we got lucky.

Yes, and that was about TEN MILLION YEARS AGO! The human-chimp lineage has probably been eating mammalian meat for roughly 6 million years, and our ancestors were clearly killing and eating serious amounts of fairly large animals already 2.5 million years ago. Without our broken vitamin C synthesis gene, our species might have become fully carnivorous already, and in some cases where vitamin C is plentiful enough in animal tissues, have.

I'm not saying vegetarianism is wrong or that it's unhealthy (if you do it right). In fact I have a lot of respect for people who choose it for rational reasons fully aware of what it entails. But I cannot stand it when people deceive or lie to justify a belief that humans are naturally vegetarian.

Just because we are far removed from nature doesn't mean it's in every way good for us to be so removed from nature. Humans would be much healthier if they exercised more and had daily naps, like our ancestors used to do in our hunter-gatherer days. Eating more fresh greens, nuts and whole grain would also be both natural and good for us. Oviously not all thing that are "natural" are good or necessary, but a lot of those things are, and we shouldn't ignore that just because we might run a risk of making a naturalistic fallacy.
