So why do you guys hate captions?
>> Anonymous
I don't.
>> Anonymous
they'd be better without the atrocious spelling that makes them illegible
>> Anonymous
>>312870
So you're telling me people here at /an/ think animals should have better grammar?

But you're missing the point on how this was formed. You must deal with it.

>>312863
It's funny if it's absurd or just hits it right. A lot of the time it's just words pasted on an image saying really obvious, uncreative, or just tired old shit. I know people will raaaauuugh!! and complain about this, but fuck. Half of them just don't have effort, it's just someone writing whatever LOLRANDOM thing comes into their heads. In bad-grammar form. You dig?

The problem is people thinking EVERY picture deserves a caption, when only a select few do.

If they're funny they're okay.
If they're not made by icanhascheezburger they're okay.

I made one for that site and they're too faggy to notice it exists. Their judgment process is shit.
I lost the macro but I still have this pic, which is the original. Caption was "MUST BE SOME KIND OF FORCE FIELD"

I don't think the one I made for my kitty is amusing, per se, but I think it was totally askin' for one, MAYBE 'CAUSE I LOVE MY KITTY?
>> Anonymous
>>312905
No it's not, the rules say only pictures that depict cruelty to the animals are not allowed.

>>312872But you're missing the point on how this was formed. You must deal with it.

I was there. You weren't.

>>312879

Agreed. They weren't so bad before everyone's grandmother started producing them en masse.

You thought wrong.

Global Rule #3: no image macros outside of /b/. Of course, this one is constantly ignored, so...

>>312943

Saying "We should be allowed to post lolcats on /an/ because they have Burzday threads on /mu/" is like saying "I should be allowed to drive 75 in a school zone because everyone drives ten over on the highway."

Cat macros are a phenomenon that started from a couple of genuinely laugh out loud pictures. Then the more people got involved, captions got progressively lamer, unimaginative recycling of ideas became the norm, and eventually this made it impossible to find the occasional nugget from the immeasurable pile of shit. Not to mention that the oversaturation has taken all the novelty out of these things. They already were last year even last year.

Picture is of the first cat macro I ever saw and lol'd. Now it barely makes me smile. (Strictly speaking posting it like this is not a violation of the rules, as this is not a macro image reply.)
>> Anonymous
1) retarded caption

2) look at what's labeled in the bottom. it's not funny, it's just stupid. go to that dumb site if you want captions, shitty captions. and stay off here, faggot.

captions used to be against the rules here, too if I remember correctly.

wish it were still the same.

sage for newfag.

># Do not post the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry"), grotesque ("guro"), or loli/shota pornography.

Yes, taste in internet memes is as subjective as grammar.

Oh yeah, I loved that one.

There are also a couple of "anti-lolcat" cat macros that I find amusing. Unfortunately their humor is largely dependent on the existance of this rotten phenomenon. But not always, such as in the case of this macro.

Bad grammar and spelling is a slippery slope. This could have been much better had the dumbass who made it toned it down a bit.
