I like the idea of the clockwork god, who set the universe into motion and sits around like a jackass and does nothing else.

There are those, and by those I mean Creationist Christians, who beleive that 7 days mentioned in the Bible are representative of periods of time, not a literal 7 says as some other Christians beleive.

whatever it is, not a single person on Earth was there to witness it, so no one knows for sure. All we have our theories. Creationism is not a theory btw.

Yeah, they just have the slight problem of explaining how Earth is supposed to be older than the rest of the universe, and how plants survived on Earth for ages before the sun (or indeed any stars).

Any attempt to read the Bible as a Natural History textbook is doomed to fail.

Science, aka evolution.

The Bible is self contradictory, so I'm not going to take anything it says literally. Genesis, chapter 1, God creates Adam and Eve at the same time. Chapter 2, God creates Adam, then does the rib thing to create Eve. ... What?

Wait for the DAY: 21-12-2012. What happens (or nothing) will decide... on that day :x
