Hey /an/. I'm concerned about my cat. She won't eat much and as a result has lost a lot of weight/energy. Also, her tongue sounds dryer than usual and her coat has taken on a more frayed texture. Before I go spend money I don't have on a vet visit, I was hoping someone could provide me a clue as to what this behavior could mean. (pic is not my cat)

maybe he need some...

If she's also drinking a lot of water, it could mean diabetes, I believe. You should really take her to the vet. If she has diabetes you're going to need to get some insulin for her, so be prepared to spend more money than you were thinking about in the first place.

What are you feeding it? it probably has an allergic reaction. spend the few extra bucks and feed it healthy food... don't feet it science diet or iams or most of that other cheep crap they sell in the grocery store. their full of corn, startch and byproducts... and euthanased pets (they don't tell you that) most stores that sell pet food will have a few good choices, organis stuff etc, get something without corn as the first ingredient, with lots of meat and protean. or try just cooking meat and rice and feed that to him for a while, see if he gets any better.

Cats digestive tracks aren't designed to handel starchy stuff like corn. they NEED meat.

fact: science diet causes your pet to be unhealthy and develop illnesses including cancer. vets are paid by the pet food manufacturer to recommend their product. most vets don't have any objections seeing how they make more money by keeping animals sick. twisted hugh?
fact: Meat Byproduct is the unwanted remains of any carcass ground up and put in the food for your pet. it could also mean road kill. there are no restrictions as to what they can put in your pet food, a lot of companies have no objections to using euthanased pets as protein filler.
