Evolutionary Progressivism snafu !!3C7dWWN8L9u
wut is evolutionary progressivism as portrayed by Darwin in "The Origin of Species" and "The Descent of Man" and why is it right wrong?
I get the impression that the concept does not really work in the real world, because species don't increase in complexity / "perfection", but I dunno the specifics of how Darwin would have portrayed or explained it and if his views are now largely considered defunct.

eh, pic unrelated.

Is it possible that we haven't absolutely mastered how evolution works? Yes.

Right they adapt towards higher fitness, this is not always towards more complexity or "perfection."

As far as birds go most laymen would consider the kiwi far from perfect, it can't fly, it has lost "complexity" or "perfection," but it was well adapted to conserving energey wasted on flight in a land without enemies. Of course now the kiwi sucks ass thanks to cats, dogs, ferrets and shit.

>>In 1987, a dog was on the loose in Waitangi State forest in the Bay of Islands. For six weeks it rampaged through the forest killing every kiwi it encountered. By the time the dog was found, perhaps as many as 500 of the 1000 kiwi living there had been slaughtered.

fuck i hate dogs now, I hope they terminated that fucker with extreme predjudice

But...but Darwin wasn't for progressivism. He didn't like the name Evolution but he was too sick off his ass to defend himself. I'm not even sure if he liked the term transmutation since LaMarck used it.

a replica of an extinct sea scorpion. It's a scene from Chased By Dinosaurs, the first segment of the sea creature special.
