today i learned that unless you have had a dog for 12 years and then had to put it down, you don't know true sadness.

my point being, cherish every second you get with your pet.

:/ My dog is 12 and she's nearing her last days, she has an enlarged heart and its causing her too much pressure on her chest. I don't know what I'm gonna go when it's her time... I feel for you man or woman :)

Aw man. My old dog died when I was still pretty young. I remember her and loved her and all, but I was too young to really appreciate her or understand what had happened, you know? My current dog is about 10 years old and like every few days I just have this pang of panic when I think that she'll be gone some day. She's completely healthy and all, but man...

My family had this dog when I was younger, a very awesome dog. He was about as old as I was, 15 or so when he died. He was a pretty small dog, but he was dense and tough (he stayed outside, did whatever he wanted and battled coyotes). He slowly lost his hearing and mobility. He began to leave the porch less and less, and slept a lot. I had a long walk home from the bus stop, because I lived up a narrow gravel road. One day after school I was walking toward my house from the bus stop, and I knew he was going to be dead when I got home. Nobody was home that afternoon. Sure enough, I walked around our deck to the front and he was lying in his dog house. Dead. End of my favorite animal ever.

Empathy etc...

I work at an animal hospital - you get used to the idea that an animal needs to be euthanised, but you can never really quite dull yourself to the pain of the owners. The suffering of the animal is over, but the parent's have just begun.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry. Feelings run much deeper than we really admit to ourselves. Don't be ashamed to cry your eyes out, because I sure have.

When I was 11 my family had a dog named daisy and she was seventeen. She had cancer and my mom did not want to put her through chemotherapy. When my mom took her to the vet to be put to sleep her eyes were glazed over and she wasn't eating. My mom said it was the hardest decision she ever had to make. Daisy was a part of our family. She was way more than just a dog and I am so sorry you had to make that decision. :(

when i got a kitten last year I was in this examining room waiting for the vet to come in. i had tears in my eyes and I had no idea why. then I realized that i was in the same room where my dog was put to sleep years before. it STILL hurts me to this day. I'm sorry for your loss.

My Jack Russel's older than some of you underaged fuckers and still going strong, your dogs are pussies.

Sweetie, I'm really sorry you have to go through this. Just keep in mind the long life she had and how much happiness you brought to each other.

Last year I learned that, unless you've had a mom for 18 years and then she died, you don't know true sadness.

Get a real problem.

Some people love their dogs more than their moms.

i'm not one of them but i can definitely say I was sadder when my dog died than when my grandpa died

My JRT turned 12 yesterday and is still kicking ass.

When my dog died, I was devastated. The only thing that could only fill the gash in my heart are the loving memories I had with him. And sometimes, even that's not enough.

Life is cruel. And so is that photo. You shouldn't have posted that.

My first dog died after being whacked in the head.

He accidentally spilled his food bowl and began eating the food off the floor. Our old lady neighbor saw this and began sweeping while the dog was eating. Thinking someone was out to steal his food, he bit the old lady, who in turn whacked him in the head with a heavy dustpan.

I was 8 then. I cried. T_T

What a stupid whore. Whacking a dog that's biting you I can get, self defense and what-not (assuming he bit her hard), but why would you sweep up a dogs food while he's still eating it? They're fucking vacuums themselves.
Just make sure you train your future dogs not to be aggressive over food ):

She's a clean freak. And it isn't even her own house, for crying out loud.

That dog wasn't too agresive either. But with animals, you can naver fully know.

Maybe if you people could take care of a pet, they'd have lived longer - It's a shame those poor dogs had to put up with you fags as their owners

I got my first dog when I was five. He was a few years old because we picked him up from the pound. When I was twelve, one night we saw him vomit blood. We took him to the vet, they said he was having a lot of organ troubles. We had to put him down. I held his paw and cried the entire time from before the injection until he was dead. Q_Q

Sounds like he was poisoned, I suggest confronting your other family members about it.
