Cheer me up /an/ Anonymous
Last night my fourteen year old beagle-mix died in her sleep. When I got up this morning, she was laying in front of the door guarding the house like she always has, but she wasn't breathing.

I dropped her off to be cremated less than an hour ago.

All I can feel is hole in my gut, and an emptiness in my house. What can I do to feel better, and work through this pain.

Poor thing. Atleast she lived a full life. 14 is standard for dogs isn't it?

For a dog of her size, it's very long, but it's just heartbreaking. II'm glad she didn't suffer and just went in her sleep, but still

i think thats how id like to go,sleeping peacefully.in time you will feel a little better.dont go for another dog for at least 6 months tho,it gives u time to get over it

She looked like a sweetheart. Remember the good times with her. Cherish everything.

I feel sorry for you, anon, but I'm sure she had a long, happy life.

i dont want to push this, but maybe another dog can help? you gave your little angel a long happy life and its hard to lose a friend, but it may be easy to celebrate her life by saving another? not to replace her, but to maybe replace the pain, yah know? it may be completely out of the question, but it was just a suggestion.

im so sorry to here about your loss, but instead of being sad shes gone, be happy she had such an amazing, long, happy life w/ you

Sorry to hear that, fellow anon. She went in peace, and you gave her 14 years of a wonderful life.
Best thing to do now is cry and wash the sadness away.
She will live forever in your heart.

Watch Hachiko Monogatari...

I'm so, so sorry.

It does get easier, although it will probably be a while before you stop expecting her to greet you when you come in. It took me about four months before I stopped looking for my collie out of habit.

If you get another pet after a while, it helps a lot, though I know not everyone can or wants to do that. I got a cat about six months after my dog died, and I knew she would have loved to have met him.

Whenever I read or watch that story it makes me bawl like a little girl.

Our family's beagle died a few years ago, and we quickly got another one. That did help with the loss.

Aw, that's sad.. my 10 year old bunny died over the summer and it was hard to handle.

Try volunteering at an animal shelter to "give back" to the pet community in your town/city. Maybe you can even meet a special animal friend to adopt in the future there. It's good therapy to volunteer at shelters, I think

I use to know someone who did that after they lost their cat (which they had for 15 years).

It'll really help you ease the pain from a loss.
