sup /an/
my dog found a chicken bone in the road while my dad was walking her (in b4 underage b&), so he sticks his hand in her mouth to get it out.

well, now he's at the ER to get his hand fixed, and he has to file some report because it was our dog that bit him. are people in suits going to drive up in a big van and take my dog away? i mean, she's the sweetest thing ever and has never bit someone who didn't have their hand halfway down her throat, but she barks like crazy at strangers. she sounds so much meaner than she is.

am i worrying over nothing?

Depends on how retarded the authorities are. I would say that given the circumstances it's quite obvious that your dog is not a threat; barking at strangers is normal. And (correct me anyone if I'm wrong) but I think a lot of times the dog gets put down after the victim presses charges.

Bottom line is I think she'll be fine, but make it clear on the form that it was an accident.

They are going to take your dad away for being so horrible to that dog.

If it was an accident, and the dog is still current on her vaccinations, then they're probably not going to do much.

If the dog is not current on vaccinations, they will most likely have you quarantine the dog.

i forgot to mention something
she's not licensed.
is this bad?
i think it's probably bad

I think the dog would only be taken away if she exhibits a history of aggression (which is probably why they're taking a report; to make sure if anything happens again they know her history). Considering the circumstances (as long as you're clear that it was an accident and no fault of the dog's), I doubt it's really important and they're probably just taking a report for the sake of procedure. I wouldn't worry.

But you should definitely train her better to be less defensive about food/strangers/etc in case something like that happens again.

I don't really know much about licensing but I think they'd just give you a fine if anything for not having one, and make you get one. I think they'd only ever take the dog away for that if you refused to get a license after being warned.

it may just be thier policy, a few years ago my kitten fell of the couch and scratched my boyfriend in the eye, right through the cornea OUCH! when i took him to the hospital we had to make a report about it, i dont know why but nothing bad ever came from it, im sure because the dog bit his owner it will be up to him to say what will happen to the dog, so unless i am wrong, or your dads a complete dick, i wouldnt worry about it too much

My dad was bit by my dog too, and pretty bad at that.

No, your dog won't get taken away. Mine was just placed under quarantine, meaning no one could come to the house for about a week, just in case the dog was vicious.

Same person who's dad was bit by their dog and then placed under quarantine.

Nah, it's not a prob, but they're going to make you get the vaccines and all. Mine didn't have anything at all, but they were pretty nice about it.

thanks all, turns out his hand isn't all that bad, so i'm less worried now

she's not defensive about food or anything, it's just the stranger thing, which i hear is quite common in her breed anyway. i don't think she even knew my dad had his hand in her mouth, she was just happy about having a bone.

look up chinooks, she's not a purebred or anything but she looks and acts a lot like those. they're not all that well known but they're amazing dogs.. i think she's part shar pei too, because of the tongue.
