Baby flying skwerlz are about as cute as it gets.

They are wonderful pets - certainly better than hamsters! You don't really have to feed them anything bizarre - they love fresh fruits, veggies, a little bit of nuts, with a small amount of hamster food and Reptocal thrown in.

The best part about them? They fly to you when you come home. Zoe had a squirrel-proofed room that was given free range of. The moment you open the door, she'd scamper up the bookcase and dive bomb you.

They are extremely affectionate and often bond very strongly to one person. Also, since they are nocturnal, ours would happily sleep the day away inside my bra or in my BFs undershirt pocket.

That's a baby sugar glider. They are similar to flying squirrels in that they're little animals that glide. But aside from that they are totally different.

Must have toy for all flying squirrel owners. Now you can try to shoot them down with foam missiles!

They are illegal in several states. Many southern states allow them. It actually isn't hard to get a permit to own one.

You can often adopt older ones for free but I prefer getting them from a reputable breeder. Southern Flying squirrels cost about $100. DO NOT BUY THEM FROM PET SHOPS EVER. Pet shops just catch them wild and often have sick, scared squirrels.

(If you can get one from a breeder, get them at 5wks so that you can nurse them. It helps the squirrel bond to you and is fucking adorable.)

These suckers randomly fall out of trees where I live. I don't want them for pets though so they go to an animal rescuer.

where the fuck were you when I just bought 3 of these things? Every time you I much as look at them they start spewing piss, shit and musk while throwing food all over the wall. I recommend them to anyone who wants their house smelling like a homeless person's taint. Squirrel > Sugar gliders

where do you live?

We got our first SF squirrel after it fell out a tree, actually.

And sugar gliders are essentially just the Australian equivalent of squirrels... except that they have to eat all kinds of crazy shit (including some seriously fucked up bugs and worms), have terrible manners, seemingly die at random, and piss on you like they own your ass.

Wow, that sucks. I personally don't have any problems like that at all with my sugar glider. He jumps to us anytime we get near the cage and hasn't ever bit anyone.

Occasionally he's peed on someone but what little animal like that doesn't?

I love him, he's going blind in one eye though. His name is Merlin :3
