So I opened my bedroom door today to see SURPRISE! one of my rats had chewed the corner out of the cage and gotten out. After a frustrating 15 minutes of finding and cramming her into a carrier, I blocked the hole as best I could but it's only a matter of time before she goes at it or just chews another hole in a different corner. They have PLENTY of chew toys in the cage. How the fuck do I get them to stop chewing everything else?

i dont know what kinda shape your house is in, but try putting their cage on the floor and letting have some supervised running around time.

never owned a rat but my hamster used to chew the shit outta his cage unless i gave him a decent amount of splorin time.

lil niggies just wanna run around.

as for the cage, get solid blocks of wood and secure the perimeter of the base of the cage? might keep em in it.

Get some wire mesh and fix the hole... assuming she chewed through plastic in the first place.

i used to keep my rat in a glass aquarium. worked pretty well.

I do give them running around time, at least an hour a day, usually more, that's why I can't understand why they're so bored that they'd go after the cage.

What I'm probably gonna have to do. For all four corners, because she's already gotten to work on the others.

Are there any cages with like ceramic bottoms or something? Or a spray I can use to keep them from chewing on what they shouldn't?

I'd try something like that but they only do this shit when I'm at work or sleeping.

OP here, took the entire bottom off and now just resting the cage on a couple of towels for a quick fix. The rats are livid but it's the only thing I can think of to do since I work a night shift tonight and don't trust them not to chew another hole. I saw one of them go straight to the corner where the hole in the tray was and start ripping at the towel. Hopefully this will hold them til I can find a cage with a different bottom. Thanks for the advice.

I had the same exact cage with the same exact problem. Super Pet does offer part replacement but after having my rats go through another pan I just bought a 10 gallon and an aquarium topper. The aquarium was about $35 and the topper was about $45. The unfortunate thing is that this method is not as nice as that Deluxe cage, but it is still big enough and you will not have to worry about the rats chewing through anything. Just google 10 gallon aquariums and aquarium toppers and see what comes up. I'm sure you can find a good deal.
