Any aquarium fags out there?

My shrimp keep dying, what am i doing wrong? I have both a ten gallon and a 30 gallon tank. Originally, in my 10 gal with no light or heater my shrimp did very well, i had asian filter shrimp (bamboo or wood shrimp they are also called) and ghost (skeleton) shrimp. After purchasing my 30 gal (this time with a light) i moved both species into there. About 2 weeks after they all died. I though it was nitrite poisoning so i bought a de-toxifier (takes care of chlorine, chloramine, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) and tests. The tests showed no signs of anything wrong, but don't test for ammonia so i de-toxified anyway. I just bought indian dwarf shrimp (very similiar to ghost) and they too perished this time within 12 hours of purchasing them. I started with 5 and now have 1. They were in the tank with a male and female betta in the 10 gal, but so were my original shrimp which lasted for over 2 months in the same tank, before being moved to the larger one. What the heck is going on?????

There could be a million things based on the information you don't provide. pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, food, heavy metals, plants, etc.

Where did this 30G come from? Was it brand new? If any medicine containing copper which are fairly common was used, that tank is contaminated and your shrimp will continue to die. All invertibrae are harmed by copper. That's why it works on little ich and parasites but also on crabs, shrimp, anemones.

whoa whoa whoa....

bamboo plants? Are you talking about those lucky bamboo's they sell at petco as ""aquarium plants""

get those things out of your tank NOW!
They are not aquarium plants, they like their roots wet but are not ok being submerged.

does the 30g have a heater? shrimp need heaters.

do they look "cloudy" or "milky" in the store? If so they were already sick.
