In Ultima 8 the common form of currency was Obsidian due to their brittleness. Also, a free "moon stone" came in the box for Ultima VI, actually a bit of well polished Obsidian in the shape of a stone.
I like how with every Ultima after Serpent Isle they managed to still sell you a box of useless trinkets, but forgot to put a game inside.
