any finnish spitz owners? my friend really wants one and seems to be planning on spending a lot of money on one because they look like foxes.

They don't look like foxes. They look like wolves. Or, the cross-breed of a red fox and a Grey wolf.
Enjoy your over-paying.

A lot of money? WTF?
And I've seen only one FS that looked like slightly a fox and that was because she had unusually short and flat fur and she was very slim... Her tail was barely curled too. Not a showpiece, that one.

People say my dog looks like a Fox. Maybe not so much in this picture but she definitely does.

Finnish spitzes bark practically nonstop. Some guy in our neighborhood used to own one. Thank god it's gone now.

Spitz in general seem to do that.

The Finnish Spitz was bred specifically for it. They are used in hunting by letting one roam off on its own and then just home in on the barking and see what it's found. They are VERY yappy and pretty conversational in general; they produce a wide, expressive and amusing variety of sounds. Trying to teach one out of barking is pretty much futile. So not a indoor social dog, that one...
As a matter of fact I knew a FS that knew how to say "Gimme!", "Huh?" and what sounded like "No no no" in Finnish... It always fit the situation, too. The "Huh?" usually included him tilting its head and looking generally confused. :D

Yea my aunt has 4 of them (they breed them), and it's allways quite noisy when one goes there. But it's nice to have a huge welcoming party, especially when one can see the party is delighted to see you.
