Hey guys, I just got a Lab recently and he's wearing me out. I've spent twelve hours just playing with him.Laser pointer, wrestling, running (No biking or swimming until it gets warmer), fetch (He likes it about as much as eating), and three 10 minute walks.Yet he won't fucking rest. Will he grow out of all this energy? I can't keep up, he just demands too much attention. I'm of course going to keep him, but this is a much bigger change than I thought it would be.How do I wear out my puppy!? No amount of exercise will do it.
You dont wear it out. It wears itself out.
Like you would a human child. Put him in a warm, quiet, dark room and just leave him alone for a while so he can nap. Also like a child, if you keep egging the puppy on, it's not going to feel tired unless it has time to think about it.
No, not really. Not for a few years anyway.lol 10 minute walks... he'll need at least an hour or so a day when he gets bigger. You might want to make schedule and walk him at the same time every day, crate train blah blah blah so he learns when to exert his energy.
>>219452Those are cool down and bathroom walks. He is usually running non-stop so I don't think a slow walk is going to tire him out, but it helps.
>>219441Laser pointerwow, how strenuous. your wrist must be aching.
>>219480Troll? Read the rest of what I wrote. Wrestling, running, fetch (Where I run and he has to catch up to me to give me the ball), and I can't bike or swim yet because of the temperature.
energy wont go away until hes 1 1/2 to 3 years old. depending on the dog.Best my lab puppies wear each other out is that they wrestle each other almost constantly or chase their mom around.although when you don't have another dog for them to hang out with a hour long game of fetch works. theres these wonderful things you can find at most pet stores, lets you pick up the ball with the thrower itself and its nice and long so you get a much longer throw from it. called chuckit or something like that.best thing I know of to wear a lab out other than swimming. although it you just want to distract him for awhile go to your grocery store they'll usually have soup bones there. cook one up for him. (boiling it works.) and it should entertain him for a few hours.
