If you would own any animal, what would it be?

I'd want an opossum. I've done some research and they seem like good pets, from what I've read. They're given such bad credit.

No opossum. My experience is that they are mean, bitter and crap all about the house every time they are spooked or unhappy (which is most of the time)

It'd still attack you when it was an adult. Raising a wild animal from birth doesn't make it tame. Fucking idiot.

If you are the first thing the animal sees, it will see you as it's parent, therefore, it is your pet
But depending on the animal, you might have problems when it grows up, cause it might way bigger than you

A friend of mine has adult wolves as pets and they don't attack him. They didn't even attack him when they had kids. He doesn't have them around the house like dogs though, he have them outside behind a fence and they dig wholes to live in. I've petted them several times but I am very nervous when I do.

Seconded. I would name my hedgehog Penelope (regardless of gender), and we would go everywhere together.
Also I would like a seal. I would name him lardbutt.
And the three of us would have some zanny comedic-adventure involving pirates, and then live happily ever after. (in New Zealand for some reason)

There was one on National Geographic that turned out to be a bear attack. They found wolf tracks nearby that made them think it was a wolf attack, though.

I would love a bat or an otter. However, both of those things would need ridiculous enclosures. Basically, you'd have to dedicate a large section of your house just to have one animal. I don't know, I might actually do it with a bat someday, if I'm crazy enough.

I have a macaw and she'll probably outlive me. They are extemely loud and destructive. You'll spend a small fortune on new toys for it to tear to shreds... but you'll adore every second of it. I wouldn't trade her for the world.
>>52813
De-scented skunks make amazing pets. They're just like cats in needs, but act more like little dogs, wanting to chase everything and get into mischeif. Females make the better pets, since their personalities are a little more snuggly and even.
However, If I could have any one thing for a pet, it would be a mountain lion. I work with big cats at a sanctuary, and I had always thought I wanted a tiger. But even with the best handling and training, they will always be too unpredictable, and it only gets worse as they get old. But a mountain lion, or cougar, can be tamed pretty damn well if you have the proper training. They can be extremely affectionate, to the point of being annoying, and they're the only large cat that can purr. I am in LOVE with an older female that I work with, and I wish like mad we had an out-placement policy. I'd take her home in a heartbeat.

I would name it 'Ripper'.

Seriously though, from what I've read, wolverines make very loyal pets if raised from pups. They just have infrastructure requirements I can't afford, like a decent enclosure, etc.

There's a guy in Canada who had a Siberian tiger for a while. He never needed to cage her, beat her, or drug her, and she never attacked anyone. Then again, he did spend his whole life with her. Here's his Web page:

http://www.qadesh.com/

I'm not sure to what extent you can actually "tame" any cat... I mean, with my cats, they're small, so the occasional scratch might give you a cut. Compare that to what a tiger or whatever could do... As long as it doesn't have the personality of my brother's cat, I think your fine.

A lynx would be neat, though I don't know. For pets I'd be content with a big dog and maybe a couple cats... I'm not sure I'd actually be interested in anything more exotic. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to get say a wolf or a lynx as a pet.
