Hey /an/, anyone got any leopard geckos? I just bought one cause it looked fucking awesome. Anything I should be aware of? WILL HE SHOOP @ ME?:(

I've had one for about a year now and they're real easy to take care of. All you gotta do is just make sure he's got a heat/light source, fresh water every day, and feed him every other day or so. I feed mine mealworms and wax worms mainly with some vitamin powder stuff

Just make sure you secure its cage every time you open it. Reptiles are very good at escaping.

HUMIDITY. Despite being desert reptiles they need access to some moisture or they'll have trouble shedding and will eventually lose the tips of their toes or go blind from dried eyecaps scratching their eyes. It's ridiculously common in captivity. Just stick a clump of moss under a hide log and spray it once in a while to prevent it.

Waxworms are fatty and aren't recommendable as a staple food item and mealworms have a very low indigestible chitin to digestible content ratio making them less beneficial as a staple, especially to younger specimens, unless they're just moulted. Gut-loaded crickets are generally the best option and should constitute the bulk of prey.

OP here thanks yeah he's in a pretty small cage at the moment I think it's only just big enough for him to be comfortable, I'm not sure if he has enough heat:( I'm feeding him Black medium sized crickets I got from the store coated in calcium powder, I'm going to get him a better cage as soon as I can afford it.
