I never had any interest in owning a frog until reading this topic. I've been doing a lot of reading about frogs - the Budgett's typically isn't recommended for novice owners. Also, with a Budgett's frog, it's best to buy frogs that are born domestically, vs wild-caught frogs. However, it's much easier to buy a wild-caught Budgett than a Budgett reared by a breeder.
The Pacman is quite a bit easier to care for, and they're easier to find. I called a number of local petshops yesterday - none of them had, or could get, a Budgett's. However, several did have Pacman frogs available.
