hey /an/, i'm thinking of adopting a cat but for the sole purpose of killing mice living in my flat or at least scaring them out of my residence. also for petting it and dressing up and posting the pictures on /b/ for lulz, but i have never owned a cat and need to know if they actually attack mice or if that's just a cliche. pointers on raising a kitten would also be appreciated

Manx. They will kill dogs dead, so mice are a breeze.

cats are naturally curious about small moving things and its just a personality thing whether they will kill them or just look at them. I would suggest looking at buying an older cat that has already proven itsself as a mouser before i would suggest buying a kitten.

they do. if you leave the kittens with their mom long enough, she'll teach them how to hunt. my cat kills mice and birds all the time, it's kinda sad :/

Ever heard of a cat doing a honest day's work?

Scottish folds are too fucking cute and cuddly to kill mice. They'll just look at it and run away with that cute look on their face, and you'll forget about the mice, and wonder why your foods keep going missing.

I agree, but if you do get a kitten, play with it ALOT. This will develop it's natural hunting instinct. Play 'hunting games' (ie getting it to chase, pounce and catch things), rather than 'fighting games' (ie tackling it with your hand, getting it to practice fighting). Get toys that look like mice and attach them to strings so they will run.
