That's nice.

Isn's this box too small for your crabs?

It's a 20L.

How come they're humping the glass instead of being interesting?

Probably because they were scared shitless after living in a crowded petstore tank and then being stuffed into a bag and driven home.

They seem more interesting today.

I lol'd at the mental image, but then just felt bad.

As awesome as that is, I'd shit bricks if I saw that coming toward me.

you're the guy with the other crab threads, right? Looks pretty nice and easy to clean. I'm guessing the sand settled eventually and the water is more clear. How many did you get?

Are these kind of crabs expensive? Are they hard to care for? They're incredibly cute...

I want crabs

What filter are you using? You know they shit a ton every day right?

That's odd, I was just asking about fiddlers (and hermits) a little while ago. Unfortunately, the only progress I've made so far is purchasing a 20 gallon tank (I forget the conversion). Best of luck to you and your new pets, op.

Man, if you're 20 feet away from them they start scurrying away into their holes.

I'm guessing as pets they're not so antsy?

I had one crab thread where I was wondering what kind of male-female ratio to get. No one answered, lolz.

Mine were 2.99/ea. They're not too hard to care for, maybe on par with, say, a praying mantis and for these you don't even have to provide live food. The expensive part is just getting a good tank, really..mine was 30 bucks. I got expensive sand, but I figured out I could get play-sand for a lot cheaper..oh well. :p Temperature might be an issue. I live in a warm climate so I don't have to worry about it much myself. They need something like 75-80 degrees.

It's a Hagen Mini Elite. I plan on water changes every other weekend, which I do for my other fish tanks anyway, soooo..

It's easier than I thought it would be. You need some marine salt, no table salt. I think it's 1.005 specific gravity for fiddler crabs, and they're tolerant to changes in the salinity. I use ~2 tablespoons for every gallon I put in there (like 2.5 gal. for me). I picked up a hydrometer and I actually should probably put more salt in there on the next water change. About having to keep adding salt, I'm not sure but I imagine so..I have virtually no experience with anything salt related, this is my first. I do know that you should mix the water outside the tank first though.

Hahaha, really? That's cool. They sure are damn fun to watch, especially when you get a little colony like I did.

True, true..mine are still kind of jumpy. They see me coming and dive underwater if I'm not stealthy/slow enough.
