You've obviously handled a Winter White or Roborovski (as pictured) hamster.

Fix'd.

There is a reason why that little bastard is being picked up by his scruff.

I like hamsters, cute little monsters, but they are either high-strung or just enjoy biting people cause every single hamster, no matter what breed, size or temperment, has bitten me and my friends. Pick it up and set it in your hand, bites your palm. Reach for it, bites your fingers. Pet it, bites your fingers. Set it on your shoulders, bites your shoulders or neck. They just do it like a reflex action. I had a hamster in my hand once, calm and everything, just walking around in my palm, and it stops and bites the base of my middle finger. Not hard, but it bit. Then it moved to the bulb of my thumb and bit it a couple times. Lightly poked it and it grabbed my finger in its hands and bit/chewed.

Hamsters are psychotic little rodentia.

is he sucking his own dick or wallowing in his loneliness? if it's the latter, moving picture you've taken ;_;

I've known hundreds of winter whites, and while some of them were very chill little fellas, others were just as fucking psychotic as the syrian hamsters.

Dwarf hamsters can be awesome pets, you just have to know what you're doing, especially when you buy one:

1) Get a male. Much like human females, hamster females are psychotic, territorial, and will attempt to show their dominance over you through physical harm.

2) Pick a chill hamster. Don't take the one that's running around the cage like a maniac attacking the others. Don't pick the one that's shaking like a leaf under a pile of bedding. Pick one that doesn't give a shit when you pick it up and doesn't attempt to bite you.

3) Hamsters aren't a feed-it-and-leave-it pet like a tarantula or millipede. If you handle your hamster once a day for the first few weeks it will be tame in no time. My last dwarf hamster never bit anyone, EVER (seriously, unless they had food-scented hand lotion, in which case he would give a nip and then stop after he realized they weren't food) , because I took him out of his cage and held him for a while every day. If you don't handle your hamster often, they revert to wildness, and become the crazy psycho bloodthirsty hamsters that every thinks of when they hear the word "hamster."

4) Don't grab them like they're free money. One of the dwarf hamster's natural predators are hawks/falcons/etc., and they will flip shit if you descend upon them with your talon-like fingers and snatch them out of the cage. Cup them up like you would cup water out of the sink to splash in your face in the morning.

If you do all of this your hamster will rule. Do otherwise and you will experience what everyone has been describing. I would highly recommend dwarf hamsters to anyone wanting a small, easy pet.

My first hamster was the only male in a cage of females at the pet shop. I think he was appreciative that I got him out of that female hell. His son, however, was bite-ie when I first got him. Could be because him and his sibblings killed and ate two if their own litter mates. Now they're both fat and happy, and dont even care if my cat picks them up and carries them around.

dwarf hamsters are ALL pure hell, never buy a dwarf hamster. I've sold many of them, I'm the fucker that has to stick my hand in the cage and let them all bite me so you fuckers can figure out which one you want..."oh that one didnt bite the fuck out of you, we'll take it." Yeah go ahead then bring the fucker back in two days when it bites the hell out of you to bitch. GET A TEDDY BEAR FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. I stopped selling them and refused to order them, If you want a crazy rabid pet then go somewhere else so that you can end up hating them for your shitty pet cuase it aint worth the amount of returns shitty dwarf hamsters cause.

I want a rodent:
1) Rat
2) Rat
3) Rat
2) Mouse
3) Teddy bear hamster
....
3894921) Pit bull
3894922) Dwarf Hamster

Teddy bear hamsters are really nice and docile. Both males and females are completely laid back and chill about everything, even being handled by rough kids. I've owned many of them, never been bit once. The females tend to keep themselves and their living area cleaner than males do.

The only problem is it's not always safe to keep more than one in a single cage. Best to keep them separated so that they don't hurt each other.

Their fur is really soft and it's cute when they grab your finger and lick peanut butter off of it. :3

You have horrible living conditions for that little fucker.
Cage to small, wire bottoms are not good for them as it hurts their feet and give them bumblefoot(which is very painful to have), it looks dirty as fuck, no where for him to hide or sleep comfortably, etc.

Shitty owner is shitty.

Just what exactly are guinea pigs like? I mean, are they like Hamsters only large? Or Rats only fat?! Or like something totally unrelated like a furry snake?

>>170416
They are like mini bovines.
>> tigerfeather !CrwtTbFNxQ

They're more like rats than they are hamsters, in that they're social. They'll greet you with all kinds of squeals and chirrups when you get home. They're quite affectionate....makes me sad that I'm allergic to them. =( They're usually pretty mellow, but to love run around too.

I'd compare them to a small, friendly dog that doesn't bark and eat your house. Kinda.

OK man. Not true.

I've had a whole lot of Russian dwarf hamsters in my life. They were cute, and most of them didn't bite all that much, only if I'd pet them whilst I had jsut eaten vegetables or some other shit. Like fruit.

Now the first hamster I had. A panda hamster. THAT FUCKER BIT A CHUNK OUT OF MY FINGER. IT TOOK A YEAR TO GROW BACK. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS SMALL.

But rats are pretty cool.

Consume the fresh flesh.
yessss

My friends' pet rat killed and ate her pet mouse. They normally get along with other animals. Although I have seen a hamster chew a fishs' head off -_-
