Okay, I just researched it and apparently that IS meant to be Bugs Bunny.

Threw me. Looks more like Chip or Dale.

That's a perspective illusion, caused by the fact that much of the spine is facing towards the camera (though at an angle). The skeleton is actually correctly proportioned.

It seems that the artist has tried to give them poses more typical of the species they are based on, rather than what is typical to the character in cartoons.
