So, I just bought two new rats. Thing is, I'm terrible at coming up with names. Suggestions?

They're both pretty young. One of them has the brown head, white rear color pattern, and is a complete coward; he always hides at the first sign of something unexpected, and rarely comes out of the little shelter thing we have in their cage. The other is mostly grey-brown with some faint spots of darker coloring. He's a lot more explorative, and will usually at least poke his head out to see what's going on when I come near the cage. (I got them both yesterday, so neither is very used to me yet).

So, /an/, any suggestions for names?

They are a beautiful pair of Cinnamon Pearl!

But before you name them, are they boys or girls?

Hmm, what about

don't you understand? Also, if they hide in their fucking box the whole time, i doubt OP could take pictures of them ON their cage, in the open.

OP here. Both rats are male.

I've got a bigger concern now, though. These rats were cage mates in the store, and they seem to get along well enough sleeping together in their box, but when they're awake they're always fighting. They don't seem to be biting each other all that hard, as I'm pretty sure neither has drawn blood at any point, but it's still a bit irritating some times. Especially when the constant squeaking while they're at it wakes me up in the middle of the night.

I'm hoping it's just horseplay since they're really young and male. Has anyone else had such an experience with their rats? Can anyone tell me if this will subside in time?

horseplay, but it can get violent. i had hamsters that always fight but never drew blood, i assume most rodents are about the same.

feed them to a snake. You can name one lunch, and the other one dinner. Problem solved

Hi there!
I have rats too, a couple of males and I'm getting a third on sunday.
Young rats no matter the sex will fight to establish who's the boss. As long as there is no blood you don't have to worry. It's a pack-animal thing since they can't debate :P

Get used to the night fighting shit mate, mine are six months old and for four months straight they kick the shit out of each other. Move the cage now or tough it out.
