don't people usually keep pot bellied pigs as pets?

Pigs are cute, and smart and don't stink like dogs do, but they get really really big, even the potbelly ones, and when they get pissed they SCREAM and I swear it is worse than a parrot. It gets inside of your spine and just SQUEEZES. even when they are young they scream just as loud. I know there is one kind of pig that stays small, like Arnold on Green Acres, but unless I saw the mom nursing the baby I would not believe anyone that says it is the small kind, People lie.

So, if you can stand a 600-900 lb or more pet, that can open your door and your fridge, and screams in a way that gives you the chills if it does not like something (like walking from carpet to linoleum, I have seen this) then a pig may be a great pet for you.

Pigs are okay. They are smart, clean if you take care of them, and disturbingly cuddly. And of course, if your pig misbehaves.. they are delicious.

My nominee for most awesome edible beast ever: My great grandmother's HUGE black and white hog that chases around her horses.

You know, that's called "squealing" for a reason. Pigs don't scream. They squeal.

But that's the other side of it: Pigs are utterly savage and aggressive, are very strong with the brains to match. As it grows older and bigger, you aren't so much keeping a pet, you're basically a warden to an inmate. A beefed up Bubba of an inmate that might seriously injure you at any moment, and even eat you.

Breeding pigs as pets hasn't been around for all that long, and most pigs aren...exactly bred for temperament.

I have a pig. Well, it's my brother's. She lives outside and doesn't do much, though. I'd rather have an inside pig. They don't have fleas, don't stink, and don't shed. They are pretty easily trained because food is a strong motivator for them.

I lol'd at this.

The thought of someone being mauled by a pig is quite hilarious.

Not saying that it couldn't happen, just that the thought if a bit amusing.
