So far there has been a single case where an audiable noise was recorded in conjunction with auroras on the sky. It's still an open question if there is some way geomagnetic storms might be directly related to these sounds. Obviously the sound is not caused by the auroras themselves, but the fact that this sound has been recorded would seem to rule out synesthesias or hallucinations.
