ITT: How your dog died

I left a box of cereal on the floor in my room, when we left the house, he snuck in, stuck his head in the bag to eat the cereal and suffocated to death.

Euthanized while I was away at Disneyland.

...disregarding the file name, is that even a dog in the pic? It looks like a pony.

I've actually never had a dog die.

My dog from when I was a little kid was given away because she wasn't very good and always ate my toys, if that counts.

wait... so you're saying that your dachshund got bitten by a poisonous snake, and then got shot... and then finally died after being run over two years later?

An autopsy later revealed that the cause of death was not actually getting run over but choking.

Unless it was suffocated in the bloated gullet of some BBW hooker named Christmas Eve, you mean to say that your dog died ON Christmas Eve.

If the former is correct, pics pls thx

I would also, love to see this.

My dog was 15, and came up to me really fast while I was sitting on the floor, which was very strange since she was really slow back then. She was really tense and was just staring past me while standing over me. She began having these convulsions and made these terrible sounds that haunt me to this day. She ended up dying right there in my arms about a half hour later.

My dog started having seizures. He was a pure-bred and this happens sometimes when they get older because the gene pool is shit for some pures. We get him medicated for epilepsy but he has dizzy spells, difficulty walking, and becomes increbly moody. All this we blame on the meds. We take him to the vet and I have to pick him up to put him in the back of the car and my dog bites me in the face. My eye is swolen, my nose is torn and I am bleeding from cuts all over. Take dog to vets and find out he has huge assed a tumor eating away at him. We put him to sleep a little bit later and then cremate him.

Had a german shepherd that was unusually afraid of thunderstorms because he was in a flood as a puppy. We had him tied on a zip line leash in the backyard so he could move about without having an excessively long line tied to him and it kept him away from fences which he could climb over and get out. We had his large doghouse (built out of wood and housing shingles and originally meant for multiple large dogs, very well contructed) nearby, close enough so the line would let him get all the way in without getting taut.
One night when we were away during an especially heavy thunderstorm he apparently jumped up on top of his doghouse and then later jumped off the end opposite the side of the zipline. The line caught on the roof of the doghouse, and it was not long enough to allow him to touch the ground on that side. We found him a bloody mess when we returned home, apparently because he beat himself up pretty good while trying to get free, but eventually he died of asphyxiation.

4 dogs so far, causes were:

* Put down at 17, due to losing all control of back legs.
* Put down at 13, cancer.
* Same at 13, cancer.
* Same at 14, suddenly, due to (once again) cancer.

...All but the first dog were Fox Terriers. Damn, but Foxies seem to be prone to cancer.

Pic related, it's the last 2 dogs on my list.

Someone left an entire block of opened, but folded back up wrapper of chocolate on the table. When I came down the next morning, I found my dog dead in his dogbed foaming from the mouth.

I never really found out who did it because no-one fessed up.

my dog died the day after christmas. Teacup potle named Pepper. I had her on my lap at the table, she gfell between my legs, her neck landed across a table leg and I watched her die. Parents took her to the vet to see if she was just knocked onconcious while I stayed home and cried.

We lived in near the swamp and left our dog in a kennel for a week while we went on vacation. When we returned, she'd escaped the kennel into (presumably) the swamp, and was probably eaten by alligators.

My first dog got old and went deaf. She was sleeping in the garage one day behind the can, and mom was leaving for work. She didn't hear the engine start, and mom ran over her backing out of our own garage. It smeared her out into the driveway. I was young, it was awful.

No. They aren't prone to cancer. They were just sick of you as an owner and died.

I never understood why people react to cancer like it isn't a natural death.

Unless, of course, you were feeding your dogs chemicals.

My little tiny toy poodle was sucked dry by fleas. He became anemic, and he stopped eating. I couldn't force him, and I woke up to the tiny little guy standing there with his mouth slightly agape, eyes shut, and legs as stiff as a board.

Oh, I cried.

>>269190

>> Anonymous
>>269195

Eh, its not as much not thinking it's _natural_ per se, just more an observation that is seems to be the common cause, as opposed to something like heart failure or liver or some other such old-animal problem.

My grandparent's dog was put to sleep at 14 years old. He was partially blind, no longer had the strength to jump onto the couch, and had lost all control of his bladder.

They took him to the vet to see if anything could be done about it, and the vet said it was best to just put him to sleep.

My grandmother wants to be cremated, and all three of their urns to be kept together.

Yeah, the chemicals in dog food. The best food for dogs is the food you eat yourself. They're omnivores, so a diet of grains, meat and vegetables is the most healthy thing for them. Go ahead and read about how dog food is made and processed (not to mention the horrors of "testing" dog food). Read "Food Pets Die For: Shocking Facts About Pet Food." By Ann N. Martin.

note: about dog food testing - specialty foods like diet food for pet are tested by forced obesity and "voluntary starvation" - that's not the actual term for it but the name escapes me now. It's the unseen processes behind products that can be nightmarish.

My german shepard mix had alltimers. she was 10

my black lab had a stroke and lost the use of his rear legs and almost died of kidney falure, but when we took him to the vet he said just put him down he was already almost gone.... he didint make it through the shot.

i have a 8 year old pug and 2 2 year olds... i know its gonna happen but it still hurts.

Btw, I do have a dog (shepard/border collie mix) who's 14 - she's had 2 tumors removed from her side already - i forget the name of the cancer but it's benign and slow growing. anyway she's got arthritis and is losing hear hearing.

The worst story of a dog's death i heard is when my friend's lab had a stroke at 17. He had seizures and couldn't stop barking - after he calmed down he couldn't recognize his owners and was aggressive towards them until they had him restrained and put him down. I hope I never get to see that.

When I was around 8 or 9, we had this German Shepard/Wolf hybrid. Apparently, some farmer a few blocks from my old residence thought that this dog was getting out and killing his rabbits and chickens.

One day when I came home from school, we found the dog hanging from a fencepost, dead.

The only pet I've had die so far was a Labrador. I was at my grandmother's house for the day, and I had been telling my parents about how she was going to die if we left her at our house. When we got back home we found her dead in our back yard. Never knew why.

I still hold a grudge against my parents for that D:
