i have this sick rat here with me. i took her to the vet today and he said she had an URI and gave me meds. he said that he put tutti fruity flavouring in it so she'll drink it but she doesn't seem to want to take it at all. how can i get her to take her medication more easily? pic unrelated

It's a liquid? You can put it on her fur and she'll lick it off. Like, around her mouth, whiskers area. They don't like having stuff on their faces.

okay, that sounds like a good idea
i put some on a little piece of bread earlier and gave it to her, but it took a while for her to eat it. i'd keep doing it that way but i'm afraid she'll just hide it somewhere and not go back for it.

Syringe, without the needle, of course. I am amazed the vet didn't give you one.

vet did give me one, she just wouldn't drink from it. anyway, i figured i'd wrap her in a small towel and put the tip of the syringe behind her teeth so she would drink it that way. didn't like it, of course, but she took it none the less.

That's why you have to use a syringe, they won't take it on their own. All of my bunnies hate medicine and syringes, but it's for their own good so...

What'll sometimes work is soaking it into a little piece of bread. Just make sure they aren't eating around the wet part.
