THERE'S no need to be scared of sharks when you're in the Northern Territory - the crocs usually get to them first.

Paul van Bruggen snapped these amazing pictures of a 2.5m saltie dining out on a shark on the banks of the Daly River, The Northern Territory News reports.

"We went past one section of the river and we heard some splashing,'' he said.

"We looked across and saw a shark's tail coming up out of the water and then a crocodile's head came up and grabbed it.''

Sweet. What kind of shark was it? The pic looks like a reef shark or a young bull shark.

Oh, and take that, Animal Face-Off. Croc > Shark.

Jesus christ, especially a salty. I wonder how a fully grown Nile Croc would fare against a Great White.

the Nile croc doesn't get as large as the Saltwater croc. Nile croc vs Zambezi shark would be the normal fight in Africa.

What got me most about the AFO fight was when the croc clamped down on the great white's snout. With all the hooting and hollering about the croc's 4,000-pound bite force, the white's skull should have been crushed or its snout so badly hurt and mangled trying to attack something would have been the last thing on its mind.
