So, I'm moving out next year for my first year of college. I'm currently struggling to get the money for school and to rent an apartment, which I'll be living alone.
I want to have a cat, so I won't be totally alone.
I was told Ragdoll cats are pretty easy to take care of. Is that true, or is there another breed of cat that would be more .... perfect for me.

I have a regular old domestic shorthair (ie just plain old moggy of uncertain heritage) and he's a charmer. Mind you, cats have their own distinct personalities, so it's best to get a cat that likes you. Mind you, a ragdoll is my dream cat too. but they're like $800AU to get one ;_;

Best to just grab a moggy off the shelter that seems attentive to you than shell out for a breed, considering you really need to save money and all.

If money's going to be an issue for you, don't get a purebred cat. Your local shelter should have some free (or low priced) kitties who need loving homes.
