Shrimp Anonymous
I've been considering setting up a 10 gallon planted tank with several dwarf shrimp species. My last fish tank consisted of 5 ghost shrimp, a betta, cories, and some tetras. The shrimp in this tank were active, healthy and lived for over a year. However the online "shrimp experts" say that cherry red shrimp (I want to have these guys and ghost shrimp in the new tank) should only be kept in a species tank.

Is that really true? I've never talked to anyone who's owned cherry reds before, but I have to doubt that they're very much different from ghost shrimp in terms of living with peacful fish. So does anyone have any experience with this?

I wonder if they taste good.

The reason for that is probably that all dwarf shrimp (caridina) can breed with eachother, and one usually don't want to mix them (not that there is any actual harm with them breeding).

however, they can be kept with any other small and/or peaceful fish/shrimp/whatever. just be wary of the cross-breeding if you keep them with other shrimp.
