That's a V-rex. The fail cousin of T-Rex from Skull Island. Not to mention that T-Rex is the fail cousin of Tyrannosaurus rex from Isla Sorna. A real Tyrannosaurus rex could shatter thick bones with a single bite.

does it have feathers?

Movie directors underestimate the jaws strength of T-rexs. I like that scene in Jurassic Park 3 where the T-Rex bites the Spinosaurus on the fucking neck, and the Spino escapes without a scratch.

Those buffalo look decidedly unimpressed.

What's with the big legs and small arms?
>> Anonymous
>>189151

Old misconception is ollldddd...

The current belief is the body did not have that much bulk especially the tail. Also the old placement of the arms were at the breast (pectorials[think nipple placement]), modern placement is at the front sides.
>> Anonymous
>>189151

The belief is that the T-Rex evolved with more of a focus on larger and stronger jaw muscles. Given the creature is already front-heavy, and that the head was evolving larger, the arms were used less and less, thus evolved smaller and smaller.

When people decide to do CGI shots of T.rexes, why do they ALWAYS go for some extremely unrealistic version they saw in the moobies?

Ha! Your skull will shatter if you try to ram a rex.

The director of that movie (King Kong) purposely wanted the dinosaurs to look like they came out of old stop-motion movies. That's why they had extra bulk and baggy, wrinkly skin.

The arms weren't useless, though. They may have been short, but they were insanely well muscled, and some estimates have each individual arm able to hold between 500 and 1,000 pounds.

Given how far back they're positioned, it's highly unlikely that T.rex used its arms to hold prey while the head dealt damage, so current consensus has it that the arms may have been used in mating, allowing the male better grip on the female (like the claspers on male great whites).

Giving T.rex pussy-weak jaws and motion-based eyesight where in reality it could crush bones like twigs and see as far as some birds of prey is not "awesome cool." It's dumb.

Pic related.

Doesn't explain why the croco-rexes were totally emasculated, though. Three fucking tyrannosaurs can't kill one gorilla? By the way he got bitten, Kong would have been a cripple at best.

Image very related.

pound for pound, gorillas are mother fucking badass.

kong ripping open a t-rex's mouth isn't believable, but I wouldn't doubt a gorilla beating the shit out of an equal size rex.

If a leopard can kill a gorilla, I bet a big reptile can.
>> Anonymous
>>189765
Leopards haven't concentrated all their killing power in their jaws. Tyrannosaurs have. Any mammalian predators look like pussies compared to that. If a T.rex takes a really good bite off of something, it's coming off, no matter if it's a gigantic arm or a piece of solid bone. There's actually a Triceratops skull with a huge chunk missing off the frill, because a T.rex had bitten it.

What? A silverback would trash a leopard.
>> Anonymous
>>189770
Leopards, though rarely, have been known to have killed adult male gorillas. Of course not thanks to brute strength.
I don't know about silverbacks though.

Whenever I think of T-Rex jaws I compare them with crocodiles.
Once they bite, they won't let go, struggle as much as you want.

I dunno. Crocs have conical teeth if I remember right. Rex's are serrated. I can see one of 'em coming up behind a another dinosaur, slamming into it with that haevily muscled jaw system, rip-sawing a quick jagged hole into it and either bearing it down or more likely backing off 'till it bleeds out.
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
>>189790
Indeed. Croc jaws are made for holding on tight while drowning the prey and while rolling to holding on to bits to rip off, while tyrannosaur jaws are made for crushing and cutting. Only the foremost teeth are good for holding on to something (they are more conical and have less pronounced serrations). It's more likely that a T. rex retreated right after the first succesful bite and let the blood loss and shock weaken its victim before moving in again.

I'd just like to point out that a male silverback gorilla can shatter the spine of a leopard with a single blow to the back. It's happened.
