Hello, /an/. I'm probably going to invest some time and money into raising a bonsai tree within the next couple of months. What are your experiences with them?
Well, I don't have a notoriously green thumb...but I attempted such a project, and mine did not grow. At all. I followed all the ridiculous directions it came with and still nothing. Having said that, it's safe to assume that they do need a lot of time and attention to actually, well, grow.
You have to trim the roots, not only the branches. There's a whole science behind keeping them alive. I suggest you buy a book or take classes on a bonsai nursery.
>>286397I don't have much of a green thumb, but I do have a lot of patience and am looking for a new pastime to relax with. Thanks for sharing your experience.
>>286398Oh, I've done the research, I know what's entailed. The root pruning, leaf and branch trimming, repotting, wiring, watering et al. I'm prepared to do all that is necessary, I'm just interested in people's experiences I guess.
Yeah I had one for four years, and then I moved and it died:( I would say it's a really awesome pasttime and if you get a good tree it's really rewarding to leave it for a little while and come back to shape it. I recommend it but if you're into feng shui don't get one. Stunts growth.
