new lizard clepsydre
I am thinking about buying a new lizard and i'm tired of gecko's. What kind should i adopt?

my vote is iguana. they can get massive if you givr them room to grow. spend enogh time with it, and it actually see you as more of a 'friend' than just a source of food. like any animal though, it takes time. kid i know had this enornous one, it was the coolest lizardd evar. it used to hang out with us and sit in our laps, mecause we were warm.

I agree Iguana's are the best, like my girl tinkerbell Suicide ((we call her last name suicide because she likes to jump from the back of her couch to her cage and sometimes she doesnt make it))

iguanas are NOT for beginners. they can be very difficult to tame, especially if you are adopting one. it can take up to a year or more for one to get used to you. they are very demanding reptiles and could even cost you a lot just by getting them a proper cage.
Same with monitor lizards(OP's picture).

Water dragons aren't suppose to be beginners either but I've never had a problem taking care of them.

Bearded dragons are also a very popular choice. With the added benefit of being reasonably easy to care for and very well-mannered.

Full disclosure, I have never actually kept one myself, though I have over the years taken care of various snakes, various small lizards, and two iguanas. Iguanas are a lot of work.

Monitors are very hard and extremely expensive to care for properly.. I would suggest a bearded dragon as well.

Both monitors and iguanas have a mildly poisonous bite, btw.

A monitor lizard can also whip your ass with it's tail
