Salticidae thread.

This family of spider's make up %13 of the worlds spider population, with thousands of species.

Statistically you well never be farther than three feet from one your whole life.

They can jump 200X their own body length and are renowned for taking down larger prey than themselves, in perspective it would be like a pickup truck snatching a 757 out of the air.

They are my new favorite animal.

if i jump 3 feet in the air on a trampoline, i am at least 3 feet from a spider, unless they fly too

Not if they are laying eggs in your ear.

I found one of these on my bed the other day.

Hardly larger than the head of a ballpoint pen and I could still tell it was adorable.

They're supposed to be fairly clever for their size too.

I'm shit scared of most spiders (you don't have to tell me it's an irrational fear) but somehow despite how hideous i find arachnids in general i think this particular family absolutely adorable. i dunno it's just something about their eyes.

Jumping spiders are some of the cutest creatures ever.

I'm normally quite the arachnophobe, but I've recently developed quite a fondness for these guys. Kinda wish I could see 'em crawling around on my walls a bit more often.

I used to grow them in jars.
Caught flies for them every day or so with my aquarium net thingy.

Whoa. Did he crawl into another, bigger spider's own web and eat him? Badass.
>> spiderman !!SsRNV3jTiv8
>>310049
Yep, Portia sp. are the shit. They can mimic prey or mates to attract the attention of unsuspecting spider by a rhythmic tapping on the victim's web.
