Vines Anonymous
Alright /an/ I need to know how to look after a vine indoors.
Any ideas? I know a lot of trimming will be involved...

Are you bringing it in for wintertime or something? Indoor vines doesn't really sound like a good idea.

It was just a renovation idea that I had and I don't really know any other plant that'd creep around the ceiling the same way a vine does.

You're not going to want a plant that will attach itself to the wall... it will ruin the walls. You'll have to put up some lattice or other structure and and train the plant to grow in the direction you want.

English Ivy might work, but will grow slowly indoors. Pothos, Philodendron, Grape Ivy (Cissus rhombifolia), Kangaroo Vine, Creeping Fig would all probably do ok. I'm not sure you could get any of them to grow up on the ceiling, though.

I would try the Kangaroo Vine. It grows fast and tolerates lower light.

Boston Ivy would be more likely to attach itself to the wall and grow without a trellis, and probably go across the ceiling, too, but I think its success would depend more on your lighting situation.

My laundromat has ivy or something viny growing up the walls and just below the ceiling. They ended up like sticking tacks in the wall and resting the vines on them.

Anything that will support it will work. You can string fishing line across the wall, too.
