My Dog Anonymous
Recently my irish setter went to the vet to get rabies shots (mandatory for dogs every few years). When she came home, she wasnt the same and hasnt been the same since. She mopes around the house, doesnt really want dog treats, loss of apetite, etc. Before she was a dog that wouldn't stop running around the house as Irish Setters are a hyper breed. It's really starting to get to me. She just lays there like shes 20 years old. Shes a 8 year old irish setter who has thyroid problems but has been on medicine for it for ages. Its been 5 or 6 days since the shots, and I've taken her back to the vet and they have no clue whats going on. Halp /an/ =(

Reading is a useful tool, anon. Go back and re-read the OP.

You sure sound retarded. If you meant get a second opinion, you should have said so. "Go to the vet" when one has already gone there is illogical. "Find another vet" makes sense.

tl;dr English, motherfucker, do you speak it?

yeah, OP, i second this>>184439

After my puppy got really sick I consulted a vet, who told me not to worry about it and to give it time. My puppy only got sicker and anon told me to call up another vet who told me what was wrong and gave him treatment. Some vets are so incompetent.

Yeah, that sort of shit is weird. My dog eats so much stupid shit that I never even thought anything would eat. I mean, pennies? Styrofoam? towels?

I get a lot of the aromatic things like soap, lotions, leftover food in styrofoam, etc.. but he makes it a point to eat the styrofoam even unused.

Freaky as shit. He ate my leather baseball glove and gardening gloves and threw them up. He shat the styrofoam out. It was fucked up. So now I keep EVERYTHING out of reach, all the garbages have covers on them, I inspect the yard weekly for any foreign objects, and never had problems since then.

Glad she passed it. Surgery + thyroid problems is no fun.

Not me. This is OP. The vet called and (yes i've taken her to two already) said that they are running the bloodwork. They suspect cancer or a crushed vertibrae in her neck. Shes having real problems standing up. Its hurting her to lay down. I think im going to put her down, even though it hurts me to say it.

OP again. This is a hardy dog. It couldn't be something she ate. When she was a puppy she ate a one pound bag of chocolate that got left out and didn't even have diarrhea or anything. She eats metal and passes it without thinking of it. This is weird to me considering she was a sickly dog when she was a puppy. Worms then a bad thyroid problem that made her go bald until it was diagnosed. Its so weird knowing that its not going to be cured this time.

I hear dogs like eating metal.

My dog used to eat rocks as well as his own poop.

Dogs are mustelids and they need to consume small rocks, pebbles and gravel for their gizzard to aid in digestion.
Always makes sure your pet gets enough thallium too because it can lead to shortness of breath, fever and eventually incontinence.

wow, what a shitty first vet that they didn't catch that.

OP again. It wasnt very bad when I took her to the first vet, she was walking fine I only brought her in because i thought the Rabies shots might have had an allergic reaction with her or something, since she was walking a little funny and seemed depressed. I dont really know how shes doing, Im going in tomorrow for the results (sans the dog) and to discuss treatment vs. euthenization. I hate this, and I hate the fact that its come to this when shes only 8 years old.

GO TO ANOTHER VET.
Second opinion can make wonders- I went to one vet who said my dog got heart problems and he won't operate her because of that (she needed her teeth to be cleaned), and we did AKG which didn't go well, and than I went to another vet and TA DA, Guess what, We weren't supposed to touch my dog while doing her the AKG and it messed it all up!
My dog heart is fine, she did the cleaning in her teeth and all is well.

THIRD OPINION GO, and good health for both of you.
