Hey /an/

don't normally post here but you may be of some help

I recently found a very weak, possibly injured bat outside my apartment.

I don't have a picture of it, but it's slightly smaller than the one pictured, so I can only assume it's an infant.

I'd rather not leave it outside unable to fend for itself, so I'd appreciate tips on how I can help it recover before setting it free.

e.g. What kind of things can I feed it? Fruit? Grapes and such?

Hi, if you live in the United States, know that about 99% of all bats here are insectivores, so they wouldn't be interested in fruit, most likely.

Infant bats are extremely hard to take care of properly. They really do need expert care. I suggest you look up your local wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center and they can care for the bat. Or call/contact Bat World, Texas and they can give you some advice on taking care of the bat.

hope that helps =]

Less than 1% of all bats in the entire world actually has rabies at any given time. Bats, like dogs, cats, and other animals, can CATCH rabies but they don't carry it! Bats get "dumb rabies" usually, meaning they will only attack if threatened. Bats are not rabid-prown; in fact, skunks are probably one of the most common animals to get rabies.

Wherever you are, you can call an animal sanctuary and they will help you with the issue. I would suggest turning the bat over to them if it truly is injured. They're migrating through at the moment and it may just be tired from the travel. Give it a few days and set it out on the porch at dusk. It will likely fly home...

I found a baby bat once. I bottle fed it with milk for cats (found on pharmacy). It seemed to enjoy it (btw bottle feeding a bat is awesome) and drank a lot.
But it died 4 days later, probably from infection as it was injured by a cat before I found it.

1 put it in a sealed glass jar, write time/date on a sheet of paper then take a picture of both.

2 create a thread on /b/ with the pic and declare that the bat has been in there for 5 minutes so far

3 declare that you will let the bat suffocate if chicks dont take topless pics with [something degrading] written on their chest

4 enjoy
