Toby. Gone for three years now, after being put to sleep, because he didn't want a hug and gave me stitches instead. Crazy little crossdressing dog, but god did I love him.

Shannon, got run over a few years ago while I was asleep. Even though she was a little dog, she wasn't one of those annoying yappy fucks.
Matter-o-face, her death date was yesterday so I was pretty bummed. She was comfort then since I was going through some bad times.

This is Misty.
Both her, and her daughter, Tikka, died one month apart.
Tikka had a pregnancy complication, and Misty had a bone degenerate disease, and one day became paralyzed from the midsection down.
She cried and cried all night, her howls of fear still plague me.
I held her, so she could be calm enough to sleep. I held her, and allowed her one final snooze before the big sleep.
We had her put down the next day. She was 6, Tikka, 3. I miss them more than words can express. :(

..I had a dog named Misty, who bore a striking resemblance to the one in that picture. She recently died, I don't know what the cause was; she was really old, and getting weak. Then one night she started vomiting blood :( my parents took her to the vet that night to have her put down, but I didn't want to go

Here's Lucy, who died about two-and-a-half years ago. She was such a good dog, I was heartbroken when she died. I took this picture the day she died so she looks especially sick and thin.

And this is Dottie, who died at 24 years. She had a good long life and she'd been a family pet ever since I was born. We had to give her an IV every day and she couldn't walk (her back legs became paralyzed) and just sat in her urine all day, so putting her to sleep really was the most humane thing to do, even if it was very sad.

This shit sucks, especially when you're a kid.

"hey *insert obscure relative* has died",
"Orly, Lol"

"Oh and you're cat too"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I remember when my cat died, when we finally found his body. My other cat was sitting alert right next to his body surrounded by loads of dead crows. It was fucking poetic, like he was sitting guard or something, brought a tear to mine eye. ;_;

Reminds me of a injured cat I had for a very short time.
I posted about him awhile ago, I named him Converse. Dunno if anyone remembers it but quite a few people posted that reading it made them unbelievably sad.
I actually still think I have the story, I may or not post it because thinking about it is making me sad.

This is sampson, he was born on thanksgiving. He always got the leftovers after the meal on that day, sitting patiently outside while the family ate, then standing up with tail wagging as the un eaten bits came out and always gave a happy yip before munching down. He was a mix of lab, huskey and st benard. he had the webbed paws of sled dog and since he was a puppy, liked to sit outside when it snowed and lick at the snowflakes before he went into his heated dog house to snooze.

he was a sweet doggie, always sat down where you did and lean against you for some attention, but he was also a gay dog. he would give 'affection' to male dogs and let them.. mount him. But thats ok, I loved him anyway.

around his 10th birthday we had to to move to a smaller house with no yard for him to run around.. so with a sniffle, I gave him to a family friend that lived out in the country.

Sampson became very sad. He didn't eat, took a while to get a long with the other dogs and mostly laid by their house. The new family that was taking care of him now said there was a problem and took him to the vet.

He had stomach cancer. It progressed quickly and he was whining in pain before we made the decision to put him to sleep. So with one last hug he was sent off and I never saw him again.

He was happy till we moved, then he just let himself die ;___;

Last summer my neighbor woke me up asking if I was missing a cat and if I owned a cat that they found on their front lawn. Not that I could see the cat from where I was, I hurriedly went across the street and saw the neighbors watching an injured cat from the sidewalk. No one dared to go near it as it meowed, picking its head up and looking around. I sprinted back home and grabbed a towel and a cage and went back to the cat. I wrapped him up in a towel, put it in the cage and carried it back to my house where I planned to see what I could do. Putting him on the dinning room floor, the stench from the cat was horrible. It wasn't that piss smell that you would think, but it literally smelled like he was already dead. I looked over him as best as I could without moving him much and I was a little reluctant to touch him because he was dirty, smelled horrible and I didn't have gloves and I was afraid of causing him pain any further. His eyes were going in two different directions, his third eyelids were half across his eyes as well crust had formed all around his eyes. His back legs looked like they were broken and after feeling around his stomach, I found he was severely emaciated. Every time I took my hand away and got up, he would begin to meow again. It literally sounded like he was saying 'how' or 'help'. I found it heartbreaking and very upsetting just thinking how he ended up like this. I never left him for long, wanting to give him as much comfort as I could.

I had called the shelter, but they were closed and I had no way of getting to a vet at the time. I spent the entire night with him, listening to his cries and hoping that he would make it through the night with me. He did drink, but I had to stop him for a few moments each time he did because he submerged his head into the entire bowl and I feared he would drown. Now if only I had let him drown, at least it would put him out of his misery. Only he slept that night, but even if his eyes weren't open, he knew when I was getting up to leave and he'd start meowing again.

Then next day he was still alive, but wasn't doing any better. I called the shelter and they told me to swing by the police station(which is next to the shelter) and they would have someone come and check him over. I still couldn't get him to the vet, and my aunt was the only one who could provide the ride to the station. Even if she couldn't, I would have walked with this cat in my arms.
So we get there and this fat cop tells me that the shelter is closed. I mean, its not like she could have told me that over the phone or anything. I ended up leaving him in the building, bundled up in a towel and in that cage. He was still meowing as I left him and saw him for the last time.

I did have hopes for this cat. If he could have been saved, I would come up with a way to pay for the pills and adopt him so he could live out the rest of his life with me. But I called the following Monday and they told me he died the day I dropped him off.
I tried my best to make him as comfortable as I could and let him know that someone cared. If someone actually purposely put him in that condition, I hope he knew that not all people are bad. My only regret is that I didn't put him out of his misery the day I got him.

I have a picture of him somewhere in a disposable camera. But I don't think I will ever get it developed. I don't want to look at that picture of him looking up at me with those miserable eyes.

There was a stray cat that came around my house for about six years that went through something like that, and I too have undeveloped film with pictures of him on it. He was the reason I started doing animal rescue. I haven't thought about him for a long time, even though he's buried in my back yard.

Originally, he belonged to a family a few houses down from mine. He was orange and yellow, and looked like an angora, except for the coat. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if he was a purebred or direct cross, they were rich folks that just didn't care. Sweet and gentle, he would follow people around, crying for attention.

When they moved and he stayed, he pretty much moved into my garage. I took him to the vet (well, my grandmother did, I was like 10, but I paid for it by mowing lawns). Anyway, he would stay for a few months, then leave for a year or so, and come back and stay for a few months. Always when he came back he looked terrible.

One summer, he came back smelling terrible with horrible abscesses all along his back. There is a rotting death smell that comes from dying animals that is just.. one should never have to smell it. I had no idea what it was at the time, and by then I was having a lot of problems with my lupus, and was fairly inactive because of it, so I couldn't work and take care of him. We tried repeatedly to catch him and bring him to the pound, but he would run away and hide, and after a dozen or so attempts, he wouldn't even come near me. He would just sit on my windowsill, watching me with this horrible look of hurt on his face. It seemed like he knew he was dying, and that I was his only friend, and I'd try to catch him and betray him. Eventually he died on my neighbor's porch, and I buried him in my back yard.

I was 13 or 14 and had been begging my parents to let me get a kitten for as long as I could remember. They always refused, mainly because my brother had allergies (which evaporated or were never there to being with), but for my 14th birthday I had a surprise party. One of my friends made me close my eyes and hold out my hands - she put something soft and warm that tried to wriggle out of my grasp. I was ecstatic to have my very own kitten, although she was destined to be a barn kitty. For one night she was allowed to sleep in my room, and she slept atop my chest curled up in a ball. The next morning she was put in the barn, even though it pained me to leave her there. She was taken from her mom too early, but she was the sweetest kitten I've ever owned-
>> Anonymous
- She'd follow anyone around the barn, but she was always my kitten. I'd cradle her in my arms and she'd snuggle up to my chin and lick it, I cried alot of tears into that soft orange fur of hers.. Back then I was suffering from a very terrible bout of depression, and I would confide all my pain to her. One night though, my mom told me my sweet Aisha (pronounced ay-sha) had gone missing. I bawled my eyes out all night hugging the only picture I had of her to my chest, imagining my baby being torn apart by some ravenous animal..

Three days went by before my mom came to school and told me she had been found.. But.. My idiotic Uncle had been told to look under the hood of his car (because my mom had seen her sitting on the wheel beforehand) but had just 'revved his engine a few times'.. Asshole.. She had been stuck in the engine, and came loose a few miles down the road. He ran her over, but she was still alive.. I saw her as soon as I got home, but she had so much nerve damage.. The vet said he couldn't do anything for her... So I hugged my baby close that night before we had to say goodbye.. I still miss her, and I'm crying just writing this now. Out of all the animals I've ever had, she was the most wonderful companion. The sweetest, most gentle cat I've ever known.. Rest in Peace Aisha.

This is Roger/Kabuki. We adopted him from Petsmart's adoption thing so we don't know exactly how old he was. He was a sweet cat, had such a calm personality, always laying down, he would look at you, close his eyes contently, he always seemed content with us (and we heard he had been abandoned by his previous owners maybe even abused, and at first you could tell, he was cold, indifferent, and untrusting towards us), I remember when he started walking around the house with his tail up in the air confidently, it was such a treat to see him happy. He lived several years with us, but then he seemed to weaken more and more and then he just gave out. My mom suggested it was just age and his body giving out, she misses him the most. I loved that baby, Kabuki/Roger-baby.

This is a story of one of my cats that had changed my life... Never before had I felt anything like I felt when I helped Merlin, he was a barn cat/stray from one of the many farms that I live around. I always used to put out some food at my front porch for him, until winter came around... I saw him treading through the foot deep snow and I put on all my outdoor gear boots jacket and etc and took my courage and caught him. Resting his front paws on my shoulder and holding his rear as if he was a baby. He didn't squirm he just licked my neck as I carried him back.

I sheltered him in out heated garage for a month fixed his nearly completely frost bitten off ears and the horrible cuts he had gotten on his face from scraps with other male cats.. I had finally convinced my parents to take him in, because I finally showed that I could take responisblity for something... We took him in got him fixed, however he still remained an inside/outside cat... He loved to sleep in the sinks and sit on the bathroom counter every morning where I would give him a drink out of the tap... his morning ritual. Whenever you would say his name he would flop down onto his back and await getting his belly rubbed... oh how he loved that...

Until one night I went to call in inside before I went to bed as I always did... but he never came.. I called him for nearly 30 minutes which was unusual for him... Finally I went to bed with a heavy heart hoping he was ok... However I woke up in the morning, seeing a white/black thing on the other side of the road... I was praying to myself I hope that is just a piece of bag or garbage as I walked out to get the bus for school... it was him... Spralled out and very cold and motionless on the gravel.. I have to say when I carried him back to the house to bury him.. a piece of me died that day... RIP... Merlin. unknown : April 19th 2002. I will always miss you.<3

Yeah... I had many other cats before that... and never had I had a cat that was as characterable and loving as he was.... as if he was gracious to have a home... A part of me wished I would have kept him a strictly inside cat... but I hated hearing his cries to go outside... feeling like I was trapping him... but... I suppose either way has a consequence. Thank you
