Show of Hands, Who here had zoobooks when they were younger
>> Anonymous
I remember the one about hippos. That's it.
>> gizmogal !MmLOyiCYJs
I always lol'd at those ads.
>> Anonymous
I never had them myself .. but uh, yeah ... They were always there at my counselor's office in the waiting area every week.

... *Ehem*

My mom perscribed me to that magazine when I was a kid. I think she still has all the issues from like the 2-3 years she paid for that stuff...
>> Anonymous
I wish I had them now. I would get them from school I think back when. They had cool pictures
>> Anonymous
*Raises hand* the Elephant one was the best.

You get all the Zoobooks... but you also get the THE TIGER POSTER FUCKING FREE!?! THATS BADASS!!!! FUCK RENT, I CANT PASS THIS SHIT UP!!

Don't forget the colorful animal stickers!
>> Anonymous
The library at my elementary school had them; I remember reading the wolf and cheetah ones. Although I do recall the commercials very clearly. Not only did you get a badass poster, you got motherfucking stickers. Shit was so cash.
>> gizmogal !MmLOyiCYJs
also, I love how the ad hasn't even CHANGED in 18 years. I mean, I thought companies liked to keep with the times.

Hey, if it works, don't fix it.

Perscribed? I think you mean subscribed.

>>234664
Usually they do, but hey-- look at Moon Shoes. Aside from the theme song which they changed last year, they've had the same ad since the early 90's. The kids' clothing in that commercial is so painfully out of date it's funny.
>> Anonymous
I had Ranger Rick.
>> Anonymous
Anyone else notice that when they got em, they were in a cycle? You'd get whatever the first issue was, then after a year or so, YOU GOT THE SAME ONES OVER AGAIN? AND AGAIN?
>> Anonymous
>>234704
Well, yeah. Cause I guess they figure anyone who's bought them would've canceled the subscription by then.

I went to the cleveland zoo and found one about spiders. I fucking loved spiders. That was the only one I owned, the rest belonged to my sister, so they were usually faggoty dinosaurs. i fucking hate dionsaurs.

My sister loved dinosaurs, and would always make me watch dinosaur shows on saturday morning, when i wanted to watch power rangers and sonic the hedgehog. I've since developed a hatred for dinosaurs.

I had a HUGE stack of them by the time my grandma cancelled my subscription. I donated them to the 1st grade class I volunteered with.

Oh man ... I had Highlights. Goofus and Gallant made me lol hard even as a kid. And looking back on it now, I lol'd even harder at PIC FUCKING RELATED.

I had a subscription to Zoobooks. I also had those Wildlife Treasury cards. I would spend endless hours organizing them. I was a strange child.

I think this is one of the early symptoms of a future /an/on. I remember they gave you the different organizers so you could go by alphabet, genus, or habitat, so it was an excuse to always go through them and rearrange.

my mom bribed me with the elephant issue when i was a child to eat my sprouts
>> Talec !gKQv5IanZU
>>234926
Yes! Somewhere I got this massive set of cards that came with two plastic boxes made for it... Man, that was sweet...
>> Anonymous
>>234960
I filled up an entire green case and then my mom was like, "ok enough cards for you" ;_;

My favorites were the dinosaurs and all the weird looking extinct mammals. I also liked my tapeworm card. I should scan some of my favorites one day and post them.

hahah you got fooled
don't you know that the elephant issue is free?
>> Anonymous
I had a bunch of them, including the prehistoric set. They're still in the basement at my parents' house, but the elephant issue is in pretty bad shape.

>>234661
I never got my stickers. Fuck you Zoobooks!

Yep. That's why the Elephant issue is the first one you get nearly two decades later (and it's FREE). They don't want to pay for new commercials, so they send out the same issue first for every new subscriber. At least, that's the commercial I've always seen. I don't know if there's another one out there somewhere.
>> Anonymous
I still read Zoobooks.
>> Anonymous
>>234690
I skipped ranger rick and went straight to National Wildlife and International Wildlife...ranger rick and zoobooks sucked...you can only read "the cheetah is the fastest land animal" so many fucking times
>> gizmogal !MmLOyiCYJs
>>236955
exactly. It was kinda below my reading level... I just read National Geographic; if I needed help with a word, I'd just ask, and learn even MORE! :D
plus, the photos are always breathtakingly beautiful.
