Does anyone know what these bugs are called? I see them all over my house. Sorry for the picture being a little blurry.

Dear...

GOD

What you have there is an INDIAN MEAL MOTH. They put their maggot like larvae in all of your food, especially your cereal, and they never ever stop breeding and appearing out of no where even after you've cleaned the cupboards. Obsessively look through your foods before eating them, chances are there will be larvae in them.

THEY WILL FUCK YOUR SHIT UP. I suggest viciously smashing each one you see, closing your food in air tight packaging, and throwing out all old food that has been open for a while.

We had a problem with those, and found that hormone traps work well, especially the black stripey kind. also spraying the everloving shit out of any of the ones we actually see flying around. Bastards came in in a bag of food we bought for our rabbit. nasty.

jesus my old apartment was infested so bad with these. no matter how many traps we put up they kept coming so we moved.

even though that's a terribly bad picture, its a Indian meal moth. You're pretty much fucked getting rid of those. Inspect your dried grains before eating them.

Fuck, I'm not OP but I was eating cereal while reading this thread.

Oh the paranoia

I bought a bag of rice that turned out to be full of those little bastards. I froze the bag and opened it to make sure it was the source and it was the worst thing I have ever seen.

...and those bastards were still appearing over a year after I got rid of everything I figured they could have survived in.

man these things are annoying, i have found them in SEALED packages of liptons soup, onion soup and various other items like that.

the little fuckers can CHEW through the cardboard on cereal boxes and infiltrate unopened bags as well.

This reminds me of the time I decided to enjoy some rich, chocolaty Ovaltine. Little did I know these little assholes were in it and I fucking chewed up some maggots. I never tried Ovaltine again.

i feel you man.....i can't eat cereal now after seeing this thread.

Not like these larva are toxic or anything. If you don't notice them, not really an issue, no?

Ive had these guys forever. Put any sort of starchy grainy thing in a sealed package and kill every one you see, not that it matters. They've gotten about this big around my house (I think. not sure if its the same moth but it looks similar)

They even laid eggs in my rat's belly fat... I couldnt believe it when it burst open revealing a shitload of those fuckers.

Thankfully, my rat was unharmed and the hole closed up nicely. He lived to be a ripe 4 years old.
