I'm getting a Sun Conure tommorow.

Is this awesome?

I have a Nanday Conure myself, and while I can say he's a cool bird and all, prepare for your house to get several orders of magnitude louder.

Sun conures are such sweet, affectionate birds..
Do you know how to pick one?

ffs I would like to have a parrot. But that would mean then that I should change my livingroom into a aviary for it to get enough room for flying.

Have to stick with hand-fed zebra finches ^^

I have some of them, too. Rescued one that was missing an eye, poor girl.

you dont have to change your livingroom.. you just have to make a few minor household changes.. like not having teflon and stuff.

Very NO. Say goodbye to your eardrums.

I am not a big fan of birds. I used to like them but then my parrot hit puberty and all hell broke loose. Now hes joined a gang, just smokes crack all day and yells at me.

My sister had one of these bastards. It screamed all day and bit me on the tit. Nothing screams like a sun conure. The neighbors complained about it until she had to get rid of it, and they had seperate houses and the bird lived inside-- that's how fucking loud they are.

They only "scream" when not properly taken care of and do not get a proper amount of attention.

They are somewhat loud in the morning/sunset however, like most birds.

I agree. Sun conures and any conures in the Aratinga family are the loudest, but they only scream if untrained or ignored. These are NOT the type of parrot to sit in a cage and "look pretty."

No. Get a quaker.

Quakers aren't that much better, they're not as loud, but they bite just as much, if not more.

I had a quaker in my childhood who wasn't a problem at all, and I was the one in charge of his care as an elementary schooler. You would've thought a bitey bird would bite some clumsy kid cleaning its cage and clipping its nails.

It also depends on the individual bird, and whether or not it was hand-fed or not. My Grandmother had 2 Quakers, and I also used to care for a few in a pet store. Conures and Quakers are probably the top two "bitiest" birds out there, but that can be easily trained away.
