Energetic, fearsome bark, loyal as they come and such a cutie. I find that as far as roaming and certain other unsavoury habits goes, it really depends on the individual and not the breed.

My boyfriend loves german shepherds. I never even liked dogs that much until I saw his shepherds. They're the one breed of so-called "vicious dogs" I would not mind having in a house with little kids.

Great dogs. Loyal and loving. They are protective of their 'family'. They are large and require a lot of work to manage but it's worth it. They are the best-friend everyone speaks of. The only down side is hip problems as they age. Look into rescues and pounds.

Big German Sheps are fucking awesome. I love the size of their heads, it's like this huge great wide slab of dog head.

I don't own one but I've come in contact with a lot at the park and all I can say is you get what you put into them. I've never seen a breed whose personality was so tied to the disposition of the owner. The really great ones have owners who spend a lot of time with playing, training, and so on, however, I've also encountered bad shepherds with owners who ignore them.

My neighbor has two shepherd's and they're both beautiful.

One time I was walking across a school oval around 12am and I hear something bounding towards me at a great speed. It was a shepherd and I thought it was going to tear me apart but it started jumping around me in a very playful manner until its owner called it back.

I think I'll get one myself one day.
