About a three month ago I notice a few yellow jackets building a nest in the door jam of my car. The nest was on the outside and they couldn't get inside at all. I rarely use my car so I figured as long as they don't bother me I won't bother them.
Over the course of several weeks I saw the nest grow bigger and bigger. On the first day I only saw 3 bees though I suspect a few were foraging for food. On rainy days they all hide in the nest and I can get an accurate number of how many are there. Well that hasn't been in a long time so I haven't been keeping track of there numbers, until today.
It rained quite a bit today and instead of cooking decided to get pizza. I opened my car door and took a look at them. As usual they all spun around to stare at me waiting to see what I'd do. The nest is 4 times larger than it originally was and there are now about 14 bees in it now. Also one right in the center of the nest was a really fat one with larger wings than the rest. I'm thinking it's a queen.
Now these bugs haven't been bugging me and one thing I learned about bees is they won't hurt you unless you hurt them. I really don't want to spray them but their nest is becoming quite large as well as there numbers. Is there any way I can relocate their nest somehow with getting stung? I could easily make a bee house (kinda like a bird house for bees) except I don't think they'll let me touch their home let alone move it.

P.S. Sorry for blurry pictures. My camera doesn't have a super close up mode. I'll upload better pictures tomorrow if I can borrow my friends camera.

bees will attack you if they sense a threat to their nest

example...starting your car and shaking it.

they aren't smart enough to think "oh this guy has been nice and he's not trying to hurt us", they're little machines that react to stimuli.

Put on a jacket and gloves, spray them bug spray or fun chemicals until they die.

Dude... those are not bees. Wasps can be aggressive as hell. Smoke soothes honeybees, but it will just piss wasps off.

Only think I can think of is to wrap a plastic garbage bag around them, then pinch the nest off and carry it away.

Fuck if I know what you do after that, though.

They don't seem to mind me driving my car around. Either they've become conditioned to it or they interpret the stimulus as really bad weather.

Your correct in that they're not honey bees (they're very thin and hairless) although they do pollinate like them. They are quite active in my flower garden and they don't appear aggressive at all. Like I said, they have been living on my car and they haven't even buzzed me let alone sting me. If they are "highly aggressive wasps" then I can't understand why they haven't stung me yet.

It's door jamb, not "door jam," you morans. And yes, I stopped after reading that part.

I suppose if I pushed the nest about a quarter inch and slammed the door real hard then it would be "door jam."

Not OP, but I'm curious about something. Why don't bees get pissed off and sting me when i come towards them while mowing the lawn. All they do it fly away and resume their pollinating. It seems like a loud mower would be sufficient for irritating them into an attack.

Maybe call animal control, or pest control? If they're not fuzzy, they're not bees. But if they're not hurting you, there's no point in pissing them off.

However, there's no point tempting fate either. I say get a professional to take care of it. I also recommend not letting them know that you knew the nest was there beforehand.

I found a nest like this underneath the seat of my current car when I got it 4 years ago. There wasn't anything inside, but it scared the crap out of me at the time.

I am a man who has done his fair share of hornet's nest smashing, and I can also truthfully say I have not yet been stung by any hornet, wasp or bee. Basically you can just spray the shit out of the nest with raid, use something to flick it away from the car and onto the ground, smash it and raid it, or you could get a jar and knock it into that.

Bees don't attack unless they find you to be a direct threat to themselves or their colony. You are moving slowly, and not directly following or hurting them, so they have no reason to bother with you. Even if you cut the flower that they are on, they probably still wont find you as a threat. A honey bee DIES when it stings.

Yellow jackets, on the other hand, are evil.
Watch out OP, they do bite for no reason. They smell fear, or just the sweat created by fear, and follow it. I know you want to be nice and relocate them, but do the world and yourself a favor, and just kill them. If you are able to knock the nest down without getting stung, they will move on to a new location. They don't bother with old nests if they are tampered with (At least from all of my experience with them).
