We used to have a major infestation about a good six or seven years ago, and I started noticing one or two a week for the last two weeks. I haet silverfish. >;

I saw a mottled silverfish skin in one of my old binders. Ugh.

What do silverfish do in the ecosystem anyway?

Survive

Their species are 300 million years old, so no matter how hard you try to eradicate them, they will eventually find a way to return again. Stronger.

I like them, they are hardcore motherfuckers.

Does anything eat silverfish?

I caught some spiders and brought them home. I think it worked. They either mostly died out over our harsh Canuck winters or somehow are gone. I have seen like 5 or so this year and around 2-3 per day last summer. Nasty Fuckers.

I read that house centipedes and earwigs are their main predators.

I like Silverfish. They're pretty much entirely harmless, and feed on residues typically found in bathrooms.

I mean, I'd rather not have any around, but as far as bugs though they are pretty benign, and they are neat looking.

They'll ruin your books by eating the binding. They might even go for the adhesives and eat away at your wallpaper.

I'm typing this at 3:37 AM.

I have a bunch of these little dudes at my house.

They don't bother me too much, unless they start squirming in the bathroom while I'm taking a leak, or if they pop around on my desk.

But that doesn't happen if I do a little clean-up every once in a while.

Get some sleep, dude. I'm pretty sure they won't eat you.

Maybe an army of these would prevent my roommate from spending 5 hours in front of the mirror getting ready to walk 5 feet to go to lecture. Good thing IM paying rent to live here and she's not, eh? >.<

I hate these things. I found one under a green rug in my bathroom. After squashing it, I was horrified to discover that it's guts were green - the same green as the carpet. HOW DO YOU COMPLETELY KILL SOMETHING THAT EATS CARPET?

Poison the carpets.

I love silverfish. They're my favorite pest insect. They're entirely harmless, all they do is eat starches, and are really only a threat if you have a prized comic collection or something.

They're just so prehistoric. They should've all died a million years ago.

Silver fish are weird as fuck. I was mostly scared because I found one in my underwear draw. NOT COOL!

That makes sense. I used to have a silver fish problem in my basement, but when I started having a house centipede problem, never seen a silver fish since.

In before house centipedes are your best friends. Nasty bugs are still nasty.

Yes things eat silverfish. The silverfish is the brown recluse spiders candy. If you have large amounts of silverfish you also have his friend the recluse. Silverfish aren't harmless. They can't hurt you but they eat decayed wood. They eat the bindings/spines out of your books. As another poster said. You try and get rid of them and they just come back stronger.
