So /an/ I had to put my Bull Terrier to sleep two days ago. Then this morning The Incredible Journey was on TV. God dammit it had me bawling like a baby. I miss my dog. I miss his padding round the kitchen table. I miss the noise of him sniffing, snorting and sneezing at something of interest. I miss talking to him. He was my best friend.

Dude, I just had to put my 15-year-old cat to sleep yesterday morning. I know exactly how you feel.

OP is already in enough pain.
IMO shit such as yourself don't belong here. Go aggravate a cop or something.

OP here: Never mind the trolls. What would 4chan be without them. It made me smile a little to be honest.

The bull terrier is no more aggressive than any other dog or animal that is trained to be aggressive. My bull terrier was very protective of myself, my relatives and apartment. He had a tendency to snap out at people who approached him to quickly talking "baby" talk (as in "oogabooga aren't you a fluffy wuffy doggie woggie) etcetera. But on the flipside, he'd come in and sit around when my friends where over without a problem.

I miss my dog because he was the first dog I got when I moved out. He was truly "my" dog, rather than the families dog. He was the first addition I got before I'd even bought a TV for the place. When I got a couch for the living room, he made sure to mark it for himself by pissing up the side of it. He was sleeping outside my bedroom door when I woke up and he'd park himself outside my door when I went to bed.

I've been browsing all day on rescue centre websites, I've seen a couple dogs that have sparked my interest. A few Rottweilers and a couple of Bull Terriers. So I'm going to visit a few places tomorrow. Who knows, I might come home with a new dog.

That's a great thing to do to honor the memory of your dog.

OP here: So I went to the kennels this afternoon. Saw loads of dogs. There were a lot of Rotties, several of them very nervy and aggressive, so they were immediately counted out. There were a few Staffies, mostly bitches but again, very nervous dogs. Then there was the dog in the picture, Jack. Incredible dog, extremely soft mouthed for a Bull Terrier and a real ball of energy. I was smitten the moment I saw him. So, I've put my name down for fostering. The kennels come out and do a home check before they release the dog to me and I pay them £65 to cover the cost of neutering, micro chipping and inoculation.

Nostalgia bomb.
I loved that movie as a kid, but the owl scene always kind of freaked me out.

I just found out recently it was a Japanese film (shot in Canada) originally, and Dudley Moore was a dub for America.

OP here: So, the guy from the sanctuary came down to inspect the house and yard. He's pretty happy with everything but the dog is apparently a jumper, so I've to close off one little bit of the run so he can't get on top of the kennel and over the fence.

But, Friday, all permitting I'll be picking Jack up.

And thanks for that, it was awesome.
