Mushroom mushroom?! Anonymous
Dear Erut/an/imals,

I found this growing in my front yard, and it's x-box huge, does anyone know what type of mushroom this is? I find mushrooms a lot in my garden, and I obviously have no intention of eating it but I can't find an ID on the internet.

hard to tell without seeing it from all angles. Looks a little like a Calvatia craniiformis from this pic, but probably isn't

You appear to have been correct sir, the mushroom is starting to go into "asplode spores in your lawn phase" and has turned a dark dark black, I found a website that had a picture of said mushroom and it also had a picture of the dying stage right next to it which is strikingly similar.

Thanks for the tip, next time I see them looks like it's om nom nom time.

wow... I was pretty sure I was wrong on that. Good to know I was, indeed, correct. Thank you for the update.

And yes, they are edible, and quite delicious when sliced and sauteed in butter with garlic and black pepper.
