I'm wondering if my dog might have a medical problem. She's currently about 10 weeks old. When she has to poop she'll come get you and whimper and every once and awhile she'll do the same if she has to pee. Lately though it's just not happening. Not only is she peeing all over the house but she's doing it at a worrying rate. Walk over to one spot and take a long pee. Less than ten minutes later do it again. She took full pees three times in thirty minutes the other day. She doesn't seem to be able to hold it in at all. Any suggestions?

Old picture when she was about six weeks.

Go to the vet, have her checked for a UTI. Excessive urination is often a sign of urinary tract infection. Not that expensive, and the antibiotics to fix it are fairly inexpensive as well. Takes about a week of doses to get them back on track.

Oh and by the way- gorgeous puppy.

Thanks! She's been quite a monster though, oh man. Between the biting and the attitude and the peeing and the tripling in size in a couple weeks. It's been an uphill struggle with this little hellraiser!

We had a beagle that got bladder stones and started to pee extremely frequently. We had to put her down. ;~; I hope nothing is serious with your puppy. Probably too young for anything like that anyway!

Dear lawd I recognise that puppy photo... isn't that the same girl we said would be hopeless in terms of behavioural problems? Did she improve on her behaviour?

It sounds like your dog has diabetes, if she is doing full pees. (bladder stones etc tend to be trickles, not full pees). Your dog's also probably drinking a lot to pee a lot.

Take her to a vet. You will probably have to feed her special formula food for the rest of her life.

Oh, and in the meantime (ie before the vet visit), take her off the commercial dog food and feed her small amounts of lean mince. She probably can't digest the carbs in it anyway.

She is -much- better. I'm still going to get some classes though. She can get wild when she wants to play but she is gradually learning to control herself.

She's going into the vet today. My neighbor is a dog breeder and she said that it can be pretty common for young dogs to just not be able to hold it in for awhile. The last two days she's been making a real attempt to get to the door before she goes. Anyway, I ramble. Hopefully she'll be okay!

That's Crush, the most loyal cat on the planet. You will never find an animal on earth with the devoted loyalty of that cat.

Cocoa just got back from the vet and she's a picture of health :D The vet said she's perfectly healthy and that the peeing is just a phase.

Last Cocoa pic. Didn't think she'd be so popular on /an/! I was expecting more... "omg ur pet sucks and ur a terrible owner because ______"

After countless threads about animal abuse and shitty pet owners, this thread has singlehandedly made me reinstate my belief that there are excellent pet owners in the world...or at least on /an/.

I'm glad your puppy is okay, may she live many happy years.

this puppy was taken away from its mother too soon. The puppy would do this to its mother, bother and whine, and the mother would give them a positive response. Without it's mothers' stimulation, this dog has a problem, take it to a vet.

stunning picture, and Crush looks particularly huggable and snuggly.

First, don't take this bulletin as a substitute for profession [veterinary] advice; you should take your pet to a vet regularly (about twice a year), and especially if you notice something that concerns you.

Your dog could have "emotional" problems that can be dealt with by some patient training. Another cause could be that your dog has diabetes. She may be experiencing pain or discomfort, and that may explain the incessant peeing. Either way, discuss your concern with a veterinarian.

As discussed in the thread I have taken Cocoa to the vet. This is her second time there for vaccinations and checkups.
