Sigh..

I wish we had a /travel/ board.

I'm going to Germany in a few months. This is my first time going abroad, so any general tips on travelling are welcome.

Also, post beautiful landscapes here.

Getting the cheapest train is not always best. Bring everything you need in a bookbag/hiking bag/some bag you wear. Rolling luggage is a huge fucking pain in the ass.

What are you going to do? Are you more interested in culture or landscapes?

What do you need tips about? Are you traveling alone or with a group? Do you have fixed plans?

Dark or light? What do you recommend personally?

Also, culture-wise, there's so much to see in Germany that it's almost overwhelming. Architecture, art, music, food. I would suggest the OP choose a small sampling of whatever city they're visiting and take some time to enjoy it. You can impress people if you know lots of German too, even if a lot of Germans are fluent in English. (It's just the polite thing to do)
