no way man. the guy she got him from put him in our hands and what not he has a super soft underside. like when we pick up her rats you pick them up from the top. but this guy Im not so sure of. and we wont use gloves thats pointless.

>thats pointless.

pun intended?

Their spikes aren't sharp, it's pretty similar to straw or tiny soft cat claws that are soft. Just watch because they often have alot of mites and stuff but as he is white he will be easier to see when his coat is not clean.

Put your hand in front of him and nudge him on, duh.

Give him lots of rings and keep him away from robots.

Doesn't hurt so much to get spiked, but those guys do this weird thing where they put nasty horrid foamy spit all over themselves. I don't know if it's a defense thing or what, but when you get pricked, the tiny pricks in your skin get MAD irritated if you don't wash your hands as soon as your done handling.

Porcupines have quills, not hedgehogs.

Yes, they are sharp. If he's bristled and you try to touch him, he will jam them right into your hand.
If they're flat, you're okay.

They do it to scent themselves. You'll find them chewing something they find appealing to spit it onto their backs.

Don't stick your hand in front of his nose - he'll likely take that as an invitation to bite.
Scoop him up from under his belly. Do it from the side.

Should have gotten a girl. They're nicer.

Just use something like garden gloves, anything that's thick and will stop the spikes getting to you.

You could always buy a kitten...

Pick them up by the sides, you'll get used to the pricks from the spines.

The spines are coated in oils which are a skin irritant.

There's also a spot that if you rub them on their belly, they'll unroll. Although, not all of them seem to do it as readily.

Give him some chaos emeralds and 50 rings.

That will solve your problem.
