Great Peacock Moth Anonymous
Just found one of these in Vienna, Austria. They are fricken HUGE. The one I got here has a wingspan of 14.5 centimeters (5.7 inches). I had no idea that we have any moths this big here. I literally went O_o when I saw it. Since I found it in broad daylight on a very hot day and on in a busy area I put it in my backpack and will set it free in a local park after it gets dark. Awfully fluffy and cute bugger but I'm sure I'd just kill it if I tried to keep it as a pet. Plus it probably hungers for sex and procreation even worse than I do.

It's poisonous.

Latin name is "saturnia pyri". Not at all poisonous as far as I know but if someone can prove me wrong with an actual link feel free to correct me.

When I was in Houston, TX I saw moths out at night which were as big as dinner plates. Freaked me out the first time I encountered them.

An adult saturniid moth wouldn't make a very satisfying pet... they're incapable of feeding and only live a few days, just long enough to mate and lay eggs.
