African Clawed Frog or Fire Bellied Newt Anonymous
ACF or FBN which should I get?

I want a mainly aquatic amphibian/reptile and I was wondering which one to get. I have experience with ACfs but the newt would be new for me.

any anons out there with experience in these pets?

I'm also open to suggestions that are similar to these two

well here's my tank setup I realize if i get a newt i would have to lower the water slightly and i have a floating rock on standby. I would probably get two of either (I know they cant mix)

your opinion /an/?

They can learn to like it or they can just die. It's not my problem.

Don't newts like to come out of the water too? At least where I used to live the newts always came out of the water in the autumn.

African clawed frogs are awesome pets.
They require very little in the way of maintenance. Many years ago I had a pair and they were very low maintenance. Water did not have to be cleaned on a regular basis but it still had to be cleaned. Sometimes they'd sing for me. Don't get a filter for your frogs because their lateral organs are very sensitive and it'd be like being in a room blasting metal 24/7. I'm sure they'd prefer live food but I never went and bought live food for them, just fish kibble which they happily ate.

I have both, in separate tanks of course. I have 2 male fire bellies in a 5 gal on my dresser (btw i'd raise the water level and remember to keep the temp in the 60- low 70's). I have a male clawed frog in my 55 gallon and he sings to me every night (he's in the warmer tank with my larger community fish)!:3

Both are very cute and can be trained to accept food out of your hand...with the cf expect a few fingers to be nommed (no teeth though so its harmless)
