Norwegian Forest Cat Anonymous
How are they as far as cats go? I want a really intelligent, fairly low maintenance cat. I lost my cat a few months ago to cancer, and have been yearning for another. My last cat, just a domestic house cat, was extremely smart and playful. Anything I should know about them?

Norwegian forest cats are pretty much just like Maine Coons, only (slightly) smaller. They're intelligent, playful, mellow and friendly. They do climb a lot and need to have their hair brushed once a week, but that's about how high maintenance they get.

They are good cats. Like the anon above me said, you need to take care of their hair, if you dont brush them regularly their hair will become messed up. other then that they are very nice around children so if that is in your equation they are a good choice. I have had several Norwegian forest cats for a 20 year period now.

How are their health? Are they more prone to any conditions that other cats aren't? My last cat died of young cat leukemia, which was quite a surprise.

They are so beautiful. Like an eagle almost.
