Feline upper respiratory infections Anonymous
Anyone have kittens that have had them? We just adopted this lil guy about 2 weeks ago, and he just started with the sneezing last week. Took him to the vet on Friday, and they gave him some medication.

Problem is,now he's been hacking (coughing, I guess?) and you can really hear him breathing, like it's kinda tough for him. We're taking him to the vet tomorrow asap, but I'm just worried for him. Anyone have a kitten that had a severe one like this? He's 8 weeks old, and even though I read it's mainly non fatal, I still can't help but fear for the worst.

I had a kitten that had upper respiratory infections, I didn't act as fast as I could have in getting her to a vet and she now has some permanent health issues because of that little problem back in kittenhood. Don't delay with sick kitties!

Feline herpes has a lot to do with UR infections. If you add a half a tablet of L-Lysine to their food it normally helps after a couple of weeks. I've had to do this with all 3 of my cats and it works wonders.

My cats have never had one, but I've seen strays out in the neighborhood with puss coming out of their eyes. I treated it with a combination of hydrogen peroxide, followed immediately by water, followed immediately by an eye wash for cats I bought at petsmart.

Their eyes don't get pussed up after that, but I doubt that's solving the underlying problems.
