dog skin problem Anonymous
i have a 7 year old cairn terrier, he has been having some skin problems for the past year, it gets to the point where he has a big hairless spot on him thats all red and scabs everywhere. He crys all day and night while itching. Baths make it worse so we try not to bathe him that much but he smells and feels like shit. We've tried all sorts of shampoos, sprays, combs, pills and etc.. right now we give him 2 tablets a day of 1.34mg Clemastine. the only other options that out vet gives us is shots or pills that will eventually over time destroy his kidney and or liver. Can anybody help? loved dog even if he's a pain in the ass

Oh my God, that reminds me of my friends old ass nasty dog. It had spots like that. The dog smelled like shit and would cry really fucking loud (it literally sounded like a human was being tortured to death).

You might want to invest in a razor and shave the areas that become red. Also keep it clean and use antibiotics on the spots. Try Benadryl for the itching and help bring down the inflammation. With the smell maybe try a dry powdered shampoo.

I hope things work out for your dog.

Please think about putting your dog down. My dog, a cockapoo (Cockerspaniel + poodle) was put down last week. She was 12 years old. She had skin problems plus a bad hip. Got so bad to the point that she'd reject any pain pills/steroids given to her. It's still sad but you really have to think about what's best for the dog.

If the dog is constantly in pain and scratching please consider it. :'(

Our dog had the same exact thing, he was 13 I think. Smelled like fucking hell, gross skin and everything. We kept giving him pills, antibiotics, bathing him every-other-day, CONSISTENTLY. Never got a single bit better.
His body actually started shutting down altogether- couldn't walk, ears leaking fluid. Its called dieing.

go to a vet and check your dog for lyme disease

Bathing a dog constantly tends to make their skin worse as it removes natural oils and stuff, doesn't it?
