There's a mouse in my house. How do I get rid of it without having to kill it? Do those electric pest repellers work? My roommate has the brilliant dumb ass idea of throwing bleach on it.

hunt it, offer a leather shoe and it will go inside. worked a dozen times for me.

Is there anything that doesn't actually require me seeing it or being within arm's length of it?

Kill it, are you that big of a pussy? It is a best, not something to be treasured and loved.

If I kill it, then I'll have to get rid of its dead body. I can't stand the sight of mice. I just want a way to make it leave on its own.

Use a glue trap. Throw a towel over it, so you don't have to see it. Then get a shovel or something to throw it out. MacGyver that shit, bro. Get creative.

Well you -could- get the traps that don't kill it. They go in and get stuck. It's a clear plastic cube thing, I think you can get it in Walmart. As for not seeing it, you can put a small blanket over it and if you think there's a mouse in it, just pick the trap up with the blanket. Then go outside, set the trap down, close your eyes, flips it over so the mouse can escape, and run :)

So just pass the problem onto someone else. I'm glad there are so many responsible adults like you around. Liberal scum.

We had a mouse problem earlier this year. Let me tell you--and I was told this as well when I asked /an/--you don't have one mouse. If there is one, there are others.

Now, those electric thins, in my experience, do not work very well at all--they may keep the mice away from the device (like within a meter radius or so) but they will not rid your house of them. Don't bother wasting your money on them; they'll only bug the shit out of you and accomplish nothing.

I did manage to get rid of the mice without killing them. This will take patience, mind you, and several steps. First of all put ALL your food either in the refrigerator, freezer, or (for stuff in the pantry) in plastic bins. Don't leave any food out and make sure you keep your kitchen free of crumbs and food particles as best as possible.

Now that you've done this, go out and buy yourself a few live-trap mouse traps (pic related, that's the kind I'm talking about.) They have a door that only swings inward and tiny holes on the door so that the mouse can smell the bait from the inside. Take a small piece of a cracker, spread some peanut butter on it, and place it inside the traps. You might also want to rub a slight trace of the peanut butter on the door of the trap. Place the traps in small corners and in places you think the mice often walk by. Check the traps about twice a day--you should be able to catch the mice this way, and it will not harm them in any way.

(Cont.)

I had managed to catch quite a few like this. Once you've caught a mouse, open the trap and let the little guy into a shoebox or something, being very careful not to let him escape because he'll bolt for it if given the chance. Take the shoebox to a location OVER 2 MILES from your house and release the mouse. Any closer and the mouse will be able to find it's way back within 24 hours.

Now, as long as you're patient and keep at this, making sure your food is locked up so that they can't get to it, eventually the remaining mice will leave in search for a place with a better source of food.

Do you have a cat? I got one and although she wasn't much of a hunter, just the scent should also ward off the mice. You might consider getting a cat if you don't have one (that is of course if you're prepared for the responsibility of getting a new pet. Don't get a cat just to get rid of mice.)

Anyways, hope all this helps. :3

What do you plan to do, serve it an eviction notice?

Thanks. I might do the live-trap thing. It hasn't been in the kitchen and seems to prefer the bathroom, behind the closet, and back bedroom.

Would a snake be a good substitute for a cat?

I would say that the gun is a pretty effective rodent killer.

I catch them with my hands. After one catch, the others don't even dare come out until next winter.
