Guinea Pigs Anonymous
soup /an/

I've got to go home this weekend, but it's a long drive and I'd prefer not to take my two guinea pigs since 1) car trips stress them out and 2) it's a pain to get their travel cage out of where it's stored. I'm leaving tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, probably around 3 pm and I should be back Sunday by 5 pm. If I leave out 2 water bottles and plenty of hay, pellets, carrots and Vitamin C pellets, will they be allright? They've got a nice-size 2 story cage to at least run laps in and I'm going to leave the air conditioner on low so it doesn't get too hot for them.

The only friends I have in town who I'd trust with a key to my apt. are on vacation this week, so I don't have anyone who can come check on them. :/ Is 48 hours too long to leave them alone?

I understand where you're coming from. I worry about mine too. Do they have a vet you take them to? can you board them there?

The vet I take them to is in my hometown. There's a veterinary hospital in the city that has 24/7 emergency care, but I've never been there and I don't know if they allow animals to stay there.

Ooohh you're in a tough spot, then. I'd still say even if you don't like it, dont leave them alone. Just in case - you'll freel horrible if something happens while youre gone and they need to be rushed to the hospital or something. JMHO

I know! ;_; I don't know what to do. Stress them the hell out, but make sure they're safe, or leave them be but risk something horrible somehow happening? My mom said it's silly to worry and that they'll be fine for two days. :/

those your piggies in the OP? and theres got to be some place nearby you can drop them off at. You may be leaving the with a stranger, but theyll be safe and you wont have to worry

Yes, they're mine. :) About 4 months old each, probably, I haven't had them for very long, which is why I'm so worried.

Well, it's late here so I'm going to sleep. I'll try to figure something out in the morning before I leave. Thanks for the advice, and thanks in advance if anyone else has any help!

im the poster of this. My pig isnt that big on gorging himself, but he drinks a shitload of water sometimes. As for dropping off your pigs you can try craigslist they usually have people who will board pets.
