Got this on Ebay. Envy me.

If I had that, I'd put it up on Ebay and exchange it to some other sucker for money too!
>> Anonymous
Yes, I envy you. Because you have actually too much money you can spend for crap like this.
>> Anonymous
How much did that cost you?
>> Anonymous
That's really classy.

$200 plus shipping. A steal -- this thing is museum quality and life sized. The guy who makes them usually sells them to, guess what, museums. Due to some financial problems he's making them on the side.

The one problem with the purchase was it took a looooong time for him to send it. 6 months.

It's crosseyed.

Whoever painted it did a shitty museum-quality job

nice job.

The whole "museum quality" thing is probably just marketing crap that the creator posts in his Ebay descriptions to get sales. Think about it. What kind of museum would display an obviously fake "head" of a sabertooth tiger?

Yeah, when I get stuck with an overpriced piece of crap, I usually try to convince myself it's not so bad. Keep at it.

Are you rich or just about as smart as Ms. Hilton?
>> Anonymous
holy fuck dude, 200?, damn :\ I would have paid like 50 if anything, i mean it looks nice but it's definetly not museum quality
>> Anonymous
Don't museums have real stuff in? Isn't that kind of the point?
>> Anonymous
I winced. That thing is tacky.
>> Anonymous
It's a fake. I don't envy you. Show me a real one, and we'll talk.

A fool and his money are easily parted...

You can get real pieces of (wildlife) art for about 200 $ and not such crap. The items may be smaller but of superior quality and by recognized artists which means that they might even go up in value in the future.

Here is for example a very nice panther statue by one of the most famous wildlife artists (Rosetta) for only 225 $ (of course shipping might be not too cheap because of its weight). It may be not unique but an open edition but it's definately worth it's money nonetheless.

Most of the stuff in the art/crafts section of eBay is not worth its money even if it's cheap. And additionally, eBay is full of fakes and lies! There are, however, exceptions. But you need experience to detect them. You should at least ask for advice before making purchases.

Well I guess the OP wanted an "impressive" piece of stuff and not a piece of art. On the other hand, as an artist I can't say that I would sell the head from the OP pic for 200 if I put a decent paintjob on it instead of the factory paintjob it has now.

If I were to make a head like in the OP as an uniquely crafted and painted sculpture, it wouldn't be possible to go down to anywhere near a 200 pricetag.

So in the end I think he got what he wanted at a justifiable price after all. No envy coming up from anywhere though I hope.
