We found a pigeon that was being attacked by a dog. We rescued it, of coruse, then put it in a spare bird cage and nursed it back to health.

Named him Walter, and ineed it was a male.

The only problem with it was its wing, which soon got better, so we tried to let it go... bit it never wanted to leave. We even left it outside, on the porch, when we left the house, but he would always be there when we returned home.

He became very friendly with the cat and the dog, and they would play together and follow each other in a large to small arrangement, it was pretty funny and cute to see. Walter could fly then, but he still stayed right by us, even though now we just let him live in the back yard. He grew up to be big and beautiful.

Then we put up a pigeon feeder in the back yard, and several days later there was a long line of at least nine female pidgeons sitting on the fence, just staring and watching Walter as he strutted in front of them. The next day he was gone, but ever since there has always been about a billion pigeons on the houses around us, and we've seen Walter around several times, including when he stayed in front of the house the entire day one Christmas.

Yeah, he was an awesome bird.

i miss my pigeon, Otis.
or rock dove. whatever.

she was white with black tipped wings and tail. i caught her in my backyard, put her in an outdoor cage for two days, spread some food across my back yard and let her out. for about two weeks she would come back and fourth and if i left the door open, she'd fly in and wait for me to feed her but then one day she didn't come back.

fuck you, Otis.
i thought you were cool like that.

When I was kid I'd lure them all around me with food and then scare the hell out of them. Then lure them back, scare them again, etc and so on.

I used to love chasing after them. same with seagulls only i hate them more.

Pigeons are awesome! New York wouldn't be the same without them.

Now seagulls, those cocksuckers need to be put down.

why do i never see a baby/young pigeon when i go to boston (or any city)?

coz theyre prolly nesting someplace safe...and birds mature very fast, decreasing your likelihood of seeing a baby.
