cats and dogs can get along... when i first got my dog (a red queens land healer- they are cattle dogs and he is not friendly to people or other dogs some times... depending on how they act) he chased my big cat around and had him in his mouth the first day he was here... luckily the cat was fine... just a little shaken up... any way they are good friends now, they can sit in the same room together and the cat even allows the dog to sniff its ass... keep them seperated at first and then to get them better acquainted by putting the dog in his crate (preferably one that is all wire so the dog can see the cat in every direction, that way the cat will not disappear behind the wall of the crate causing the dog to get excited) in a room with a door so you can lock the cat in that room, so its now: You, the dog in a crate, and the cat (if you have more than 1 bring them in separate at first so they wont play among them selves) and just sit and supervise, if the dog is acting calm you can give it affection or a treat, and if its barking and growling say no, and if this persists let the cat out of the room, and leave the dog in the crate... now you can wait until the dog calms down and you can try reintroducing the cat , or (if the cat wont cooperate) you can leave the dog in bed (the crate) for another 20 minutes let him out and try again some other time..................
