I'm also rasing an orphaned kitten right now, and have many times. There as some rules to this if you want the kitten to survive and grow up normal
Rule #1: Use KMR (kitten milk replacer), with a kitten bottle, until the kitten are about 6 weeks of age. No solid foods early! Refridgerate the KMR
Rule #2: There is a 99% chance all 3 kittens have worms. Take them to the vet and get them dewormed
Rule #3: The kitten will develope some sort of health problem along the way, probably diarrhea. Take them to the vet when this happens and get anti diarrhea meds. But just stop the diarrhea, do not clog up the kitten. It needs to poo at least once a day or it risks serious problem (ie death)
Rule #3: Feed the kittens every 6 hours, or every 4 if they are REALLY young (2 weeks or younger). FYI, Once you see the kittens teeth start the break through the gums, they are 4 weeks old. Do not keep re-heating already mixed up milk, as it kills the vitamins. Re-heat maybe twice at most.
Rule #4: De-flea the kittens, but use dawn and repeated washing and THOROUGH dryings. There is NO anti-flea drops, medications, or soap that are safe for kittens younger than maybe 8 weeks at the youngest.
Rule #5. Burp the kittens gently after feeding. Then, you must stimulate them to potty after every meal. Gently rub a warm washcloth of paper towel on the kittens busniess and it should pee. Keep rubbing until its done. Then, get it to poop by repeating this process on its butt. (Mother cats do this with their tongues, so consider yourself lucky)
Oh, and the kittens suck on eachother looking for a nipple, no big deal, you can't prevent it. (If you raise kitten alone they turn pycho), and there is a scent gland at the base of the tail that gets the cats good smell on you when you pet it there. And it probably feels like a good back scratch does to us.
email me if you have questions about raising the kittens, its a constant battle. freezetheroadkil115@yahoo.com.
