Corn snake. I've had mine for a little over year. I got her at Petco (I know, I know). I've always been worried about her. Frankly I've never had any real problems with her other than worries I've had- aside mites which I'm pretty sure I got from the bedding I used. (I now use alpine as reptibark was the only source of the mites).Anyhoo, back to my worries. My corn snake has always been boney. I don't been all around, as if she were starving or sickly, but if comparing to a human she's right all around the body except the back bone protrudes. Ultimately her bones seem to stick out more so on her top/back. So I took her to a vet who specialized in a variety of animals, really one of the few specializing in snakes other than the animal hospital. I told her my worries about my snake. She has always been boney, but active and never once has had feeding problems or shedding problems (though she went for a prolonged amount of time during the winter before shedding- months even..) but she's always had these weird protruding bones. The vet said try doubling what you feed her- I did, but no change in her shape. It's strange because at this age I'd expect to to be more round bodied like snakes you see anywhere else.. Ultimately the vet got around to hold her and examining her and concluded that it's possible that my corn had Scholiosis(SP?) which I didn't know snakes could get.. She offered to take and x-ray but that was, of course, 80sh dollars and even if it turned out to be scholiosis there was no cure for snakes.Anyways my main question is if anyone has seen anything like this, heard anything about snakes and scholiosis, or have any idea as to the reasoning behind it all? I'm doubting it's life threatening since she's lead an active life thus far and is still alive.BTW Pic unrelated. I've got no camera, but she's also an albino.
