spart/an/s! i need your aid.

i just got my fatass rabbit a new cage, tried to introduce him to it tonight, and he's just not having it. i put some of his litter in there and let him hop in when he pleased. he just hops out again. when i tried to close the door, he started gnawing at the wire and had his alert-ears going. i opened the door and he hopped right out again. i spent another hour waiting to see if he'd hop back in again, but he won't unless there's a treat or something. is there anything else i can do to help him get used to his new cage? i'm letting him sleep in his old cage tonight, and am plannign to repeat the process tomorrow (sans locking him in so quickly)

pic related, it is said fatass rabbit in old, shitty cage.

A rabbit's cage is the place it usually feels the most safe, so it's not going to be something you can replace right away. He's going to have to want to go in it himself. You can also try putting some of his droppings in.

Yeah, I put some of his droppings in there the first time around. He's still not convinced. Guess this will take a few days. Goofy animal, this new one has two floor and everything. He'd so so much more comfortable.

Thanks, though.

Bunnies hate cages in general, mine used to look so miserable and bored in them until I finally got rid of it and let them roam around the house. Can't you just litter train them and let them out?

OP here.

This place is too big to be properly rabbit proofed, and we dont have a spare room he can have to himself. He's also peeing in the litter box we set up, so I figure everything is fine.

Anyway, I put him in there overnight and he gnawed at the cage for a while, then calmed down. Thanks guys.
