I need to know how to lure hamsters.See i woke up to find the house on the floor, the door wide open, the hamster has apparently fled the scene of the crime. My "none too bright" dog was found circling the cage whilst my much more intelligent cat was found to be extremely interested with goings on under the fridge. The hamster is under the fridge, no biggie i'll pull out the fridge...The plan was flawless untill on closer inspection there was a missing floorboard. The hamsters been under there for going on 2 weeks, and i cant get the fridge out before he gets back under the floor.I need bait, something that hamsters will loev enough to come out of the hole and get whilst the fridge is out.Help me out man, im starting to feel like tearing up the entire ground floor of the house in order to pacify my daughter :(
a carrot. Put it close to the edge of the fridge
that's a guinea pig in the picture. :<
i dont have a picture i just google image'd hamster.Carrots will work?
Well, your Google FAILED.That's a piggily wiggly, English Variety. Which, IMHO, are better pets than Hamsters. Also, instead of carrot, something sweet would work better. Like a piece of an apple. Or a cracker with peanut butter on it.
Chances are, the hamster isn't going to come out while you're moving stuff around. Try leaving the cage set up and easily accessible near the fridge with fresh food and water.. maybe with a fragrant treat inside to really get the little booger interested. You could even go as far as a humane trap that wouldn't harm the thing, again, baited with something strong-smelling. Maybe a little bit of fresh fruit and vegetables or a favorite snack (if your hamster has one).
Let the stupid thing die from starvation under there, that'll be a good opportunity for giving a life lesson to your daughter .

I actually had this problem quite recently. Make a small, makeshift trap (I put a ramp that led to a bucket with towels on the bottom for padding) and get a swab of peanut butter in the trap. Now, you may have to put a couple of dabs of peanut butter in a small 'trail' that leads to the bucket.I hope this works for you!
