I have a sixteen year old new zealand blue heeler named Rolex He's gotten an inoperable tumor that's now growing rapidly, I was wondering what is anons most humane *both for me and Rolex* way to put him down, He's been my loving companion for most of my life and unfortunately I have no other choice, so Anon What should I do?

He's been far to good of a companion for his last moments for be in a vets office. I'm going to take him for a weekend at the coast *His favorite* and then he'll get a nice tender steak.

Seconded. Either that, or get the vet to come to you. My old dog had to be put down last year after battling cancer, and we saw him fading and called the vet. The vet was very kind, came out to our house and he was put to sleep calmly and painlessly as we held him and told him it was okay.
As far as we could see, he wasn't scared before the act, and he drifted off gently. It also gave my family some "closure" (despite how I hate that word), so it may be the best thing.

Good luck to yourself and Rolex, Anon.

And by this I meant our dog... damn my poor grammar. Pic related, it's the dog in question, Punch.

My problem is that their are no vets in my area and Rolex has always been afraid of guns, not to mention after having him for sixteen years it would be "hard" on my to do that. I've heard about using dry ice but I couldn't find any resources...

Do you live in some 3rd world country? Even rural regions way out in the boondocks have vets. People need someone to write prescriptions for the sheep they're fucking. Stop being so cheap and lazy.

Wow you are really reaching there, CO2 euthinization on a dog? If he was such a great companion then pay a vet what it takes to get him out there, or convince one to give you a syringe full for you to use at your home. Tell him you'll pay horse prices, cuase vets will drive all over bum-fuck-egypt to charge somebody to touch a horse.

How do you know the tumor is inoperable?

I took Rolex to the vet's about four months ago which is a two hour trip one way, they told me he was so old it would kill him to have it removed, they told me he would live happily for a couple more months with the tumor if his enlarged heart didn't get to him before hand. I know he has to go, and I think he's ready.

Travel another two hours and get him put to sleep. You love him so fucking much, but you don't want to travel two hours for him.
Go die yourself, son of a bitch.

You don't understand the environment. He has always hated vets, It's not a question of me doing this or that, I would travel all damn day for him. The point is he would be very upset in a vets clinic. But at this point it doesn't matter Thank you all of anon for your help I've been put in contact with a vet that works at a local feed store.
