I used to keep these guys when I was a kid. We used to get huge fucking garden spiders on the fence in the backyard, so to feed the mantises I'd take the lid of their jar and pop the spider inside. The mantis would freeze instantly, and the spider's just going along like, "Wtf?" A few moments later the mantis would swivel it's upper body, tilt it's head and then snatch the bigass spider like it was nothing. Lunch would proceed. These things are amazing to watch.
