What kind of animal you think it could be?

Initial thought: primate

Before anyone else says it's just a movie, let me remind you that it was made to look like a real-life event, therefore there has to be more technical details on the monster, though all we can do is speculate.

This figure is missing a tail, it had a tail and was probably amphibious. This is speculation but where else would you say it was all this time, even if it's fiction?
>> Anonymous
An amphibious bat-monkey?
>> Anonymous
It doesn't look like a marine animal at all. It doesn't even look amphibian.

The tail is there, it's just not visible from that point of view. Here it is.

Also hard to see, since the small arms are folded up. You can see them better here.

CLOVERFIELD IS FRIEND TO ALL CHILDREN

Small eyes, lack of pigmentation = cave-dwelling

It really just looks like a bat without the wing-webbings. A very, very ugly bat. The things on the side of its head look like they would be involved in making some very piercing noises, so maybe it would communicate like a bat. And yeah
I agree with>>213367
Very small, black eyes + colorless skin = destined for a very dark and dank place. It would crawl along cave walls most likely. And the smaller pair of arms would help hold prey while it traveled around.
Although, really, I don't think they called in a bunch of naturalists to design this thing. But if they did, bravo.

hmm and bombs don't have any effects.. it has to have somekind strange skin. I think it run out of Earth labs where they were making experiments with alien DNK

It probably lives on the ocean floor in the deep parts where sunlight can't reach. And it eats fish/whale carcasses that drifts down.

Spoilers dude, if you look in the background of the final scene where it switches back to the pre-recorded video you can see something fall out of the sky into the water. Obviously came from space.

it looks just like man bat from Batman comics, after he goes fuller into bat mode.

It was confirmed that the monster wasn't from space and had been underwater all the time. They didn't say what the object that fell was, but that it's impact on Earth had to do with the awakening of the monster.

That creature is so spindly and fragile that Godzilla would defeat it in a few seconds.
