hi /an/

yesterday my dad ran over my cat in the drive way. he doesnt move when you pull up and he just laid there and got run over. anyway he was alive he just couldnt move his back legs. well they sent him home today and said basically all you can do is let them heal. so now he has to live in a box until his legs are better. does anyone know how long it might take? i went to pet him and he was breathing heavy and seemed real sad :(

Cut your father's throat while he sleeps for being a dick.
>> Anonymous
That's awful!

Be thankful he's alive though. It's terrible, but at least he'll get better!

I... I am so sorry. I'm sure your dad got a good yelling, so I'm not going to say anything bad about him, but... shit.

Your poor sweet cat. i wonder why he doesn't get up when you drive in the driveway?

Give him loads of hugs for all of us anonymous.

OP here

its not my dad's fault, he didnt know he was there and he should have moved anyway. i guess he thinks he's not going to get hit or something. when i come home i have to get out and move him because he wont move

lol. that'll teach that machine a lesson!

This happened to a cat of mine a couple years back. He got hit by a car and broke his hip. He had to live in an old rabbit hutch we had for about 3-4 weeks. We let him out every so often, but made sure he didn't over-exert himself. He was pretty miserable though :(

Your Dad's an ass. If you really want your life to get better for you and your kitte, get a better father.

Damn, what a HORRIBLE person! I would never speak with him again and forever be angry at him.

Just give your cat love, speak nicely and softly to him and make sure he has a nice cosy place to sleep. A warm blanket would be nice.

OP here

i've been going and visiting him regularly and scratching him trying to make him feel better. i find him in a different position every time i go in there and i could have swore i saw him move his foot the last time. normally all he ever did was lay around outside so im going to see if some days i can move his box outside and let him be out there for a little bit since he likes it so much
>> Anonymous
And that's why you should be a dumb shit and let your cat outside.

what the fuck? accidents happen. if he really was such a shit father the cat wouldn't have been taken to the vet
>> Anonymous
Why the fuck are you letting your cat run around outside in the first place?
>> Anonymous
>>190426
True, but if really was an issue, you'd think he would have made sure the cat was out of the way before he drove in the driveway. If he didn't see it at all, then that's a different story.
>> Anonymous
Wow man and I thought it would be instant death for a cat to get run over.
>> Anonymous
That's one stupid cat. Should have died thb.
>> Anonymous
My cat died this way. I'm serious. My mom ran straight over her neck. It was pretty tragic.
You have a second chance. Don't let your cat outside anymore!
>> Anonymous
i've had him for about 11 years and he's always been an outside cat. this is the first time anything has ever happened to him. you dont need to keep cats inside

Here's a really useful site for your questions about healing time. It's about dogs, but same rules apply to cats, in this case.

http://iggyplanet.com/faqs/breaks/breaks.html

I hope your cat heals quickly. In the meantime, catnip? Alternatively, fleece. I know my friend's kitten died of joy whenever we gave it fleece for the lovin's.
Could help to cheer the little bugger up.

this is the last pic i took of him a few days ago in a box

RIP yoshi :(

There's nothing he could do but keep his damn cats INDOORS next time

First of all why was your cat outside? Your cat died because of natural selection, Survival of the fittest and your cat wasn't smart enough to move out of the way of a slow moving vehicle

Second of all serves you right for naming your cat yoshi, Weaboo

Also, You might want to change vets as they didnt pick up any problems with the xrays and suggested treating yoshi(lol)by keeping it in a box

Enjoy your dead cat and empty box

So wait was your cat right under the car tires or does your dad just back out like a maniac? Both also suggest was your cat deaf or just stupid?

my cat's name is Yoshi too :( for shame
>> Anonymous
Kill your dad. Homicide is permitted in cases of cat murder.

WTF is up with this shit 'don't let your cats outside'. My cat is a outdoor cat and it has survived for the last 18 years.
>> Anonymous
>>190912

Living outside results in a statistically lower lifespan.

Your cat is clearly doing well at 18 years. But, many outdoor cats don't live anywhere near that long. The risks include getting hit by a car, getting in fights with other local animals (wild or otherwise), disease risks from said animals, and so on.

oh snap. RIP little mangg.

And people like me who shoot all cats entering their property.

Just recently got the second one this year!
>> Anonymous

I agree that outdoor cats are more exposed to bigger dangers than a indoor cat, but I don't see it as a valid reason to never let my cat out.

Which is why OP has a dead cat. Enjoy your corpse.

I'm sorry dear. :( On the plus side, he was with you 11 long years. RIP Yoshi.
