What sort of animals are completely worthless and contribute absolutely nothing to the circle of life? I think pic is very related.

The "circle of life" isn't about contribution, it's about survival.

Roaches are living garbage disposals and food for plenty of critters.

There's plenty of other animals that do a better job at both.

That whole statement is wrong, animals are not here to contribute to anything, the only thing they do is breed and making sure their species survives as long as possible, that is also the meaning of life by the way.

the only meaning that life has,is the meaning you give it.

Obviously, you'd be looking at a parasite that fatally infects its host each and every time. Unfortunately, even said parasites are performing a function by keeping populations under check and ultimately providing a source of food for decomposers. So effectively, I'd say that there is no such thing as a beastie that does not, in some way, contribute to the food cycle/web/ecology of the area, no matter how wildly destructive it may be in other areas.

Actually, no, there's not. That's why roaches are so prolific, and have been so for millions of years, despite how much money and trouble humans go through to try and kill them off.

roaches fit in the circle of life, they're scavengers

they clean up the mess left by other creatures

just because your apartment is a fucking pig sty doesn't mean roaches are bad, they're just trying to clean the place up

The very idea of contribution or the worth of something is a purely human invention and irrelevant to every other living thing on earth. If there's a source of food or shelter, there will damn well be something there eating it or living in it whether you like it or not.

tapeworms.

I don't think there are any creatures out there that absolutely need tapeworms to survive in some way, so they are worth exterminating.

Possums. What the hell. I live in New Zealand. Every year, the possums eat over 7 million tons of vegetation. And the worst thing? They prefer native plants. And they LOVE the new growth. They are killing our forests.
