Is it possible for trident maples to survive in florida? I kinda want to make a bonsai out of one but im not sure if it will survive in the warm climate.

It's possible to grow them as a bonsai, the issue is dormancy. The plant must have a dormancy of about 8 weeks per year to survive properly. You could accomplish this by having a large refrigerator which you could fit the bonsai in. In general maples prefer colder climates and the maple won't grow in the Florida climate well. You might try a Japanese maple variety, they are more comfortable with high temperatures and humidity.

Oh sweet thanks for the response, thats kinda what I thought also. I could probably just use one of those mini fridges until it gets bigger but by then ill be moved out and away from florida.

Theres a largeish maple forest growing a few miles from my house and I also have a local maple tree type growing in my front yard.

Try using a sweetgum tree instead. They are native to the South, you can probably go pick one up outside, and they are nearly impossible to kill. I saw one bonsai made out of a sweetgum that looked awesome, like a baobab tree.
