ITT: Tadakichi-san

We've had this purebred since before Azumanga Daioh, he's getting a little old but he's adorable and perfectly obedient.

Anybody else with the Great Pyrenees breed?

Lucky OP is lucky.
The only purebred I ever owned is a Chihuahua. I still like him though, so don't worry. :3
Are they good guard dogs?

His size seems to be incredibly intimidating to strangers but he's a total pushover and has never attacked or bit anyone.

Sort of like a paper tiger I guess.

This is pic is one of the rare times it actually snowed. He's quite at home of course.

I guess these dogs are the type to show a protective instinct in emergencies. I talked to a breeder who had
a lazy Labrador that ended up placing itself between himself and some aggressive drunk. He was all snarly
and fierce which scared the guy off.

Same with the one I grew up with. Dumb as shit too. But Casper as we called him was also incredibly sweet

I think that you're talking about Newfoundlands, not Pyrenees.

Yeah sounds like newfies. A common mistake actually.

Those guts are from a cow we had slaughtered. Waste not want not...

He's probably around 9. We got him from a rescue shelter that specialises in his breed and he was fairly young at that time. He was either a runaway or abandoned.

They're not very good for indoors. I kicked mine (named Harvey) out of the house after only a couple of years and we're both happier for it.

Oh hell no, we have an 11 month old newfoundland and I hate it so much.

He's 129 pounds so far. Now I understand he's still a puppy and he's going to have a lot of energy. But it's not the energy that bothers me, or the energy in combination with things he can't help like his size/that fucking mouth.

I hate him because he's so damn stupid.

I've never had such a STUPID dog before. Maybe it's because we've always had labs. But he's the only year-old dog we've ever had who can't sit/stay/come and so on, and he flat out ignores you half the time. And sinks his teeth right into you for no reason at all.

Even our lab puppies would get the point when they were scolded, and not do something again.

Don't get a newfoundland ever, ugh.

Oh god, we have that problem with our Great Pyrenees, Thor. He's stupid to the point of "how does he know how to breathe?".

Not to mention this annoying thing he does where he'll drink like a thousand gallons of water and swallow all of that, but that last big mouthful? NOPE. He just walks away and it pours out of his face like a waterfall.

He also goes outside, plays, and waits until he's INSIDE to piss. I mean, I love the dog and I want him happy, but there comes a point when shedding handfuls of white hair and pissing and drooling everygoddamnwhere just becomes e-fucking-nough.

And before you ask, yes, we have done everything in our power to train him. We've asserted dominance for eight freaking months and it doesn't work.

This sounds soooo much like my family friend's dalmatian. Fucker was the most clueless thing this side of the universe.

Sounds like one of my parents poodles, the other one is incredibly smart but this one just barks/pisses/shits/bites and nothing we've tried has stopped him.
