For all of you who are bitching about how cats do not need to be washed... sometimes they do, especially the young ones, either because they have gotten into some serious mud/dirt or because they need a medicated bath (fleas, eczema, ringworm, etc.) Sometime a tongue bath just doesn't cut it.
Now, as far as the OP's question. This might sound awful, but it works. I worked at a veterinary clinic for a while, and this was a surefire method of dealing with kitties who hate water. Buy a large knit laundry bag and put kitty in it. Then wash through the bag. Your cat should be able to move and breathe just fine without clawing you to death.
