What are some signs that a dog is dying? In the past 36 hours my dog has lost all it's energy and can barely stand without whimpering. She is also crawling under some things and just wants to lay down wherever she is.
Last year she had an accident where she ate rat poison, and this doesnt look like that.
:( help

Yea that pretty much means your dog is dying.

Sucks.

Happened to my dog, too. It was as if he woke up one morning in too much pain to do more than lie about- just the week before, he was running and playing.

He lingered for nearly three weeks. At first he'd eat chicken and rice and it seemed that his condition improved, but then he started to refuse even that.

I tried to take him on a final walk before taking him to the vet to be put down (I'd been there the day he exhibited symptoms- I couldn't afford tests or even an xray), but he was too weak. He tried to leap out of the bed of the truck when we got to the vet's before I could let down the tailgate, but he tripped and clonked his head on the pavement. The fall didn't hurt him too much, he recovered and was able walk into the vet's office.

He died in my arms.

Now I feel that it isn't right to keep an animal you can't afford to keep in health care and regular checkups. Which is very sad, because the logical conclusion of this line of thought is that most people in America shouldn't have pets; pet ownership is a luxury to be enjoyed by either wealthy people with families or middle class single people.

If she is dying, I'm really sorry! Your dog is adorible and looks like a dog I used to have. How old is your dog?

But if it's dying because it's SICK, they can.

OP, how old is the dog?

im going to tell you what i tell all the customers at my pet store.

If your dog is sick, TAKE IT TO THE FUCKING VET. Unprofessional people on some forum/some clerk at a pet store are not licensed pet care specialists. If the problem persists for more than a few hours, your dog needs immediate medical attention.

Well.. If the dog's owner is retarded enough to let it be for 36 hours when exhibiting such symptoms.. The poor thing is doomed.

Some good advice: Don't get another dog. Ever.

You're an idiot.

Of course. You certainly couldn't be one yourself for making that judgement after reading a paragraph of text.

TAKE IT TO THE VET etc

But my dog did a similar thing; fine one day and no energy the next. Turned out to be anaemia, she got put on a drip overnight and was better, but needed to be put on iron tablets for the rest of her life. She was 12 when it happened and was about 14-15 when she died.

but srsly. Vet. Now.

My dog is 9 years old (perhaps just turned 10, not sure) so this saddened me. I hope my dog never dies. ;_;
