Both were found. One wandering in my brothers yard, the other wandering my street. Ones been back there 3-4 years and the other only a few months. Also, I live in a really dry environment, sometimes we literally go weeks to months without rain so I think it may be necessary to water the yard for them.

Box turtles are not tortoises. Although they do act more like tortoises than turtles, they are closely related to semiaquatic turtles.

That said, they do not live in the water, but some box turtle species like to soak in shallow pools anyway.

If you want to feed them and make sure they get enough water tomatoes and cantaloupe melons are good. They get a lot of their moisture from their food when it is dry out.
