Just got a Jack Russell Terrier, anything I should know?

2 pet household, other is a rhodesian ridgeback and is bigger than the terrier.

It depends on the individual dogs, OP.

There are some stereotypical annoying, yippy, disobedient Jack Russells, but on the other hand many are sweet and eager to please.

Though if this is a really active and playful terrier you've just got, he may get on the Ridgeback's nerves. (Then again, that depends on the dog too. If the Ridgeback is an older, calmer dog then the little one may bug him...)

Other than that, make sure you train the terrier early, because if you don't as they get older they're really hard to tame, as they're pretty smart and they learn what's expected of them, whether that be good behavior, or nothing at all. (Again, depends on the individual, so don't take any of this as hard fact.)

Well the rhodesian can also be hyperactive. The only thing we are worrying about now is how the Jack Russell can bite and bark at the other when we give him attention, though we are squirting and being firm with her to get her to stop that.

Well, that's good. Keep up what you're doing, but make sure to give both dogs attention when they're NOT being jealous.

If the terrier learns that hers her behavior is not accepted, she'll most likely eventually stop and the two dogs will become friends.

Great, now it's pissed off at me for keeping it out of the kitchen and is holed up under a table, growling at anyone who nears >.<

Why were you keeping her out of the kitchen?

Anyways, if she'd growling because she's disallowed to do something, ignore her and don't give her what she wants. When she calms down you can treat her and give her attention; let her learn that growling at humans is not acceptable. (That is of course, unless someone is being cruel to her or threatening her/you.)

ITT: Stupid faggots who don't do research before they get an animal. I'll hope your dog doesn't end up in a shelter because his owner was too much of a lazy dick to think before getting an animal.

I knew that they are energetic dogs, tend to act bigger than they are, and should be kept away from children, and I will walk her plenty like I do my current dog.

Just thought I could get some first hand advice.

Jack Russells are the most annoying dogs in the known universe. You should have settled for a pug.

I thought that title went to the Corgi.

I've been fostering a jack russell I picked up off the streets for two weeks now and he's a love sponge. Chews up the occasional sock but otherwise is only hyperactive when it's time to be hyperactive, has no neuroticisms, cuddles with me when I watch TV and sleep on my bed with me. So much a gentleman I almost don't want to adopt him out at all, but it has to happen since my apartment allows no pets.

Anyways, they're not all terrors.

I'm thinkin' I'll give her a week or two, she is a good dog, but the 2 are clashing abit. I may have to bring her back and opt for a mellower breed, like a grey hound.

Copy/pasta'ing for great justice:

it MUST be a jack russel mix. S/He's gonna grow up to be about as high as the middle of your calves - have course "wirey" hair that will be slightly shaggy looking.

You have to be careful with these breeds, because if you don't start training early, they will grow up to be obnoxious yapping (NOBODY FUCKING LIKES YAPPERS, FYI!!!) little hyperactive shits.

These are very hyper breeds and a lot of people don't teach them good social manners. Please be a responsible owner and take the time to teach your pets to be social to both other dogs and humans and to not bark.

Uh oh, the little shit bites us if we get to close to her area under the table, we can't have that with another dog in the house. Gonna have tah sell her, shouldn't be to hard, she's a pure bred.

Run him/her daily. JRT's have a really bad napoleon complex. Look out for cataracts and deafness in his/her later years.

Were not even trying to keep her now, with her violent nature, things could get bloody with the other dog.
