Yes, they are fucking awesome and not that hard to keep. But they require certain conditions (specialy designed tank), and if you cant meet them - dont get a mudkip, do not torture poor animal. Do not look at them as fish, they are more like newts. They need a shore in the tank where they going to spend most of their time.

The joke wasn't ment for you.

Don't get fish, amphibians, reptiles, or birds for pets if you ever want to interact with the animal. All of the above will basically have to spend their entire time(lives) in one place doing nothing, especially reptiles and fish. They aren't smart enough to understand what love is, or that you are feeding them. All they understand in UV light, food, water. That's it.

Anyways, if you want a pet that has at least some intelligence and will move around: get a mammal. A non monotreme-mammal. Most mammals can be trained if raised from a young age.

What the fuck are you talking about?
Birds tend to be really fucking smart. Do you know what a parrot or a crow is?

Reptiles also make awesome fucking pets.

Fish aren't dumb either. I taught my Arowana to eat from hand for in one day. And back when I had a Pacu it learned to recognize me and would even let me pet it.

Just because they cant meow or bark or can't express emotion as well doesn't mean theyre stupid.

Even guppy can recognise its owner. Smarter fish, like paku or oscar or arowana or even gold fish can show even more emotions toward human.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mudkips yet.

As I recall, the original design of the Pokemon Mudkip was inspired by the mudskipper.

Hence the reason for my comment, in case you were unable to 'grok' it.

LOL. You've clearly never owned any of the animals you mentioned. I wouldn't go so far as to say that fish can "love" their keepers, but they damn sure know where the food comes from. My fish are 100% more interactive, fun, and interested in my whereabouts than my guinea pigs, rabbits, and hamsters.

WTF does this have to do with the OP anyways? He didn't ask if mudskips could love him.

To the OP: as long as you learn how to set up the right tank, brackish water supply and all that, they're easy pets. Just research the propper tank set-up.

Mudskips may not love OP, but can OP loev mudskips?!
