Spider Plant Anonymous
Hey, I recently saved my Spider Plant from neglect by my Mum and Ive been trying to care for it as best I can but there a are a few abnormalaties with it.
Firstly other pictures that Ive found of spider Plants looks very different from mine. They don't seem to "Stand Up" like trees, they only appear to have leaves coming out of the soil. Mine resembles more of a tree.
Secondly on the smallest of it's three branches there seems to be what appears as rot, but I can't be sure it's rot. (I'll post a picture of it soon).
I water it once every few days but I am now going to cut back to once a week, it uses a self draining pot but has a base at the bottom that collects the water. I havn't used any products on it since I have "Rescued" it.

If I'm doing something wrong please help

OP, I'm pretty sure that's a Cordyline, they are very common, but yes, you are watering WAY too often. Cut that rotten part off, and keep cutting until you get to healthy green tissue inside the stem, with no brown bits. The plant will recover and put out side shoots. Water only once a fortnight, if that, and not at all during winter unless it REALLY wilts.

THIS is a spider plant, OP; yours looks more like a dracaena or something
