Hello /an/, my cat needs a bath. How do I bathe him properly without getting my face horribly scratched off?

Pick two.

don;t be a pussy and just hold him in the water. speak to the animal and stroke him as you wash.

use a cloth sack, they love that

Dry bathe him using fragrance-free talcum powder. If not, have a bucket in the bathtub with the little guy, and rather than get him wet directly, use cotton gloves and sponges to essentially give him a sponge bath.

I'm currently facing the same dilemma. My cat needs a bath. She's not really dirty, but she's shedding so goddamn much, I need to get her wet and scrub all that dead hair off.

oh wow. i lol'd hard at this one
>> Dont soak, spray Freude
I usually use a misting spray bottle to comb out the fur with my wet hands.
An open tub of water with a running tap will scare a cat off, better to introduce the process gradually and in steps.
Place the cat in an open sink with the drain open.
Place the faucet to the the side and turn it to warm, wet the cat gradually cupping water from the hand to the cat until wet enough to use a PET FRIENDLY soap or flea soap.
AVOIDE THE HEAD, start with trhe back, chest and rump.
Wash and massage, make the cat feel it's a petting session.
Rinsing may have to be a little more aggressive to get the soap out of the coat, the cat may get sick other wise.
Dry with a fluffy towel, combing out, and finish off with a portion of catnip, to give the cat the impression everything ended on a positive note.

if it helps:

My basset usually hates getting a bath but he loves being dried off with a hair drier afterward, on the low setting. if he sees the hair dryer is going to be used, he's usually complacent during the bath.

I had a cat that would try to get in the tub before. It was wierd.

Go to the pet store.

Buy a few feeder goldfish and some tap water conditioner.

Fill your bathtub 4 inches deep and condition it.

Acclimate and introduce the goldfish.

Add cat.

dead hair is redundant

a protip to all you cat fags out there:
1. clip cat claws
2. file cat claws
3. ???
4. profit!

of course they can still bite, but its much easier to slam their mouths shut than to try to keep their claws off of you.

That's funny, my dogs tolerate washing just fine but run away as soon as they see a hairdryer. So I dry them up with a towel and sauna instead.

Hold the cats paws together and dip him in?
Don't know my cat loves baths..

How To Wash The Cat

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.

2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water.

3. Obtain the cat and carry him to the bathroom.

4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and
close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so
that he cannot escape).
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too
close to the edge, as his paws will be
reaching out for anything he can find.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides
a "power wash and rinse" which I have found to be
quite effective.

6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure
that there are no people between the toilet and the
outside door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and
quickly lift both lids.

8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and
run outside where he will dry himself.

-Sincerely, The DOG

This depends how far you're willing to throw your cat.

I have the same problem with my dog. He'll scratch and bite if you try and put him in the bath or near it, and then sits his ass down near the door and wont move for love or money.
