Is it possible to have a fox as a pet? and if yes how is it like to keep it and what you feed it?

While possible I'd suggest against it, they smell worse than a corps of angry skunks.

Then I figure they could do well on dogfood as they're omnivores and pretty well related to canines.

they're really cute, but I doubt they would be good pets.

probably if you train them from cubs they are good pets

post more fox cubs :3

The joke is, you can't train them. They tear up the furniture and shit on the carpet. Like most wild animals you can only keep them in an enclosure.

In your dreams, foxfags. They can only be tamed, not domesticated, and they smell awful.

I have a friend who has a fox as a pet.
1) They smell like shit
2) As was said, they cannot be trained
3) They will be fucking freaked out by any stranger

That said, it's easier to keep a fox as a pet than many other wild animals. Apparently they're breeding foxes in Russia that will be more amicable, so maybe in a few years you can check into it. I seriously recommend you just get a fucking dog.

Yes, forty years of very selective breeding. They don't look much like foxes though.

The "domesticated" siberian fox is actually smarter than a dog, but as said, as much a fox as a dog is a wolf. And I bet they still stink to high heaven.

It was an experiment by Russian scientists in breeding only the most docile offspring of any given litter for multiple generations. It was discovered that rather quickly (within only about 3-4 generations) they began to take on characteristics seen in domesticated dogs, such as floppy ears and splotchy coats.

It was done in a study to try to understand how wolves were domesticated and became dogs.

"Tame Silver Foxes are the results of nearly 50 years of experiments in Russia to domesticate the Silver Fox. Notably, the foxes did not only become more tame, but more dog-like as well: the new foxes lost their distinctive musky "fox smell", became more friendly with humans, put their ears down (like dogs), wagged their tails when happy and began to vocalize and bark like domesticated dogs. The breeding project was set up by Russian scientist Dmitri Belyaev, encouraged by the Communist Party of the time because of its link with the aim to control and improve the human condition."

Maybe..

why do they smell so bad?

Because foxes mark their territory.

I remember that there's an animal that looks a lot like a fox, and has "musk" in its name because of the strong musk it uses to mark its territory.

I seriously want to kill every fag who posts a pic of a wild animal and says 'omg this so cute! How do I get one and how would I take care of it??'

Protip: YOU DON'T

I think they were also planning to sell them as pets if the breeding is successful.
