Interesting how they revived the dogs but man it just sucks to be that severed head. :'(

Although it was claimed that the dogs that were revived went on to live for years to come, the reality is that the dogs only survived for hours before they died, clinical braindeath is a hard thing to overcome.

Still, the man who performed the experiments was a pioneer, and he developed the first heart-lung machine.

We took to damaged specimens and used thier parts to make one thats fully functional.

I read about the dog severed head experiments in Whole Earth magazine a decade or so ago. That magazine was like my internet back then, along with Factsheet Five and mailed zines and shits. I think I first heard of the internet in Whole Earth.

It seems disturbing to watch at first, but that severed head video was acutally faked to make the Americans believe the Soviets had made leaps in bounds in medical science. If you look really carefully it becomes pretty obvious it's a rig.
>> Anonymous
Oh, I didn't even bother with watching the video. But anyway, that magazine article I mentioned focused on people patenting it or something in an effort to prevent it from ever being done again.

Yes, the video is a fake, but my understanding is that they did actually perform severed head experiments with a small degree of success, although nothing like what appeared to happen in the video (which I'm pretty sure was a drugged dog who's head was stuck through a hole in the table).
