Hey /an/.

I have been into Bonsai for a while, and I have a few 5 year old plants that I've bought from a nursery, that are going nicely.

Recently I got some "Kangaroo Paw" in the mail with my electricity bill ("Thank you for reducing climate impact") and I was wondering if it was possible to Bonsai the Kangaroo Paw.

Anyone had any experience with it?

Just incase you hadn't figured it out by now, I live in Australia obviously (Melbourne specifically).

Bonsai is made by cutting off a portion of a young tree , Binding it with wires and whatnot to hinder growth, then allowing it to take root in very poor soil. That's what causes its diminutive appearance.

You can only do it with trees and very woody shrubs like azaleas. You can't do it with roses, and you certainly can't do it with kangaroo paw. It's an Australian plant suited to poor soil conditions anyway, so even trying to grow it small will have little effect.

Ah ok. I thought it was possible on any plant, apparently not.

Mini-kangaroo paw would be hilarious though.
