I could never get over this. This is what's wrong with humanity. It's not a big deal, but I can't help but remain very pissed.
So one day I'm driving along through a scenic farmland when I see some deer near the woods a few hundred feet from the road. There isn't a lot of woods around here so deer are kind of hard to find. I just happened to have my camera and a lot of time, and it was pretty so I decided to pull completely off the road and take some pictures of the scene.
There were plenty of other cars on the road and I was CONSTANTLY getting honked at! I'm completely off the road in nobodies way, and it's a safe place for me to be, but it's like they were trying to scare the deer away just to piss me off. Then one royal douchebag actually yells out his window at me:
"IT'S JUST SOME FUCKING DEER!"
I just can't believe it. All I'm doing is appreciating some pretty animals and apparently that makes me some worthless dirty hippie everyone hates. What the hell is wrong with people these days?
I mean, I can understand hunting deer and other animals and that doesn't bother me. But I can't understand what's so fucking wrong with appreciating nature?
The pictures I took really weren't anything special, still have a lot to learn about nature photography. Oh well. I seem to have lost the folder anyway.

funny thing is this is Massachusetts, and not a rural area at all. This town is kind of a weird mix. It has a farm and a lot of cow pastures, but it's otherwise very developed and only 15 minutes from Boston.

15 minutes from Boston?
well there's your problem

I'm guessing though you don't live anywhere that gets a lot of deer. I've gotten used to seeing them a lot though because where I live in Colorado, they're everywhere. I'd probably giggle at someone who looked like they were making a big deal over them because I see a couple deer almost every day when the weather's right. Don't take it too personally because I laugh at everything, and my mom did almost the exact same thing as you. She was on some bus going somewhere, looked out the window, and saw a bunch of sheep and in this really loud, over-excited voice was like "OMG SHEEP! WE NEVER SEE SHEEP!!". It's really not that certain people growing accustomed to seeing certain animals is something that's wrong with humanity. It's part of our nature to get used to things we see too often and to be surprised by the things we don't. There's plenty of things wrong with humanity, but I wouldn't really name not caring about a few deer on the side of the road as one of them. Honking to scare the deer away is still incredibly rude though. Sorry you had to deal with that I guess.

No, yelling in an angry voice "it's just some fucking deer!" is beyond rude. I wasn't going nuts, but I like to try to do nature photography and deer are rather hard to find around here. And they usually disappear as soon as you see them.
I mean really, why do people have to HATE me for just wanting to take pictures of deer? Is it some fucking crime?

On a side note, lately I've been trying to take pictures of beavers. I didn't realize until recently that they inhabit a swamp area pretty close to me and if I stand still long enough one might swim by. No success taking pics yet though. Again, they like to disappear as soon as you see them.

Now you're bawwing. Calm down, they're just fucking yokels. If you want to take a picture of a deer, then take a picture of a fucking dear, if you don't want to hear them prattle out from their car windows, get an ipod and put on some soothing music.

There's nothing wrong with appreciating nature. I've been known to take pictures of random birds I see on the city streets, such as a dalmation-feathered pigeon I saw once. Sure people are gonna say things, but what's more important, some moron's remarks, or the deer?

Besides, this is America. Most everyone here is a hedonistic shit and they hate everyone who isn't a hedonistic shit.

If you're someone who doesn't enjoy sitting infront of a screen for hours on end(IE you, admiring the deer), they're somehow weird or crazy. Their mentality basically says, "why look at a deer in nature when you can see one on TV?"

It's been this way for generations, kids raised infront of TV grow into adults with very limited views on the world. Embarassing.
