FUCK YEAH MOOSE RIDES
>> Anonymous
There are tamed moose, they even tried making moose cavalry back in the days, seen as moose can move in the forest much better then the horse. Unfortunately moose does not have a stamina and indurance of a horse, so those projects were closed. Some rare individuals keep moose and might ride one or move stuff with one, and thats were this pic might come from, but all in all moose have no practical meaning for any industry right now.
Also there are few moose farms (most of them, i believe, in Russia, some in Sweden, Finland) were moose are kept primarily for their milk (much more nutricious, fat and healthy then cow milk), but again those farms are very rare.

There is only only 1 large moose farms in the world in Russia with about 30 free-ranged mooses.
Another problem with moose is that they easily catch parasites and very picky about eating. They do not have a gallbladder and therefore have to eat all the time, a minimum 5 times a day. Their main type of food is tree brunches and twigs, at least 3 different kind, usualy about 60 kg per day for each adult moose.
Moose are free-ranged animals and "waste away" when kept captive.

This website is amazing, but I keep reading it with a ridiculous Russian accent in my head.

"big bull, kind like kitten."

It's kind of ironic that despite moose domestication and extant authentic photos of people riding mooses or using draught mooses, OP used a famous shooped picture instead.

I've read that the Swedish army had a small moose cavalry unit in the 1700's, but eventually gave it up since the mooses were way too hard to feed. I even remember seeing a historic painting of a moose cavalryman riding in the forest.
