I'm considering buying a bunny for the first time.

I've done research and they don't seem too hard to care for (I've dealt with hamster, cats, dogs, etc.) but what is the general life expectancy? I've seen between 5 to 15 years. The one I was considering looks like the one in the picture.

5 if you treat it like shit and leave it in a hutch outside all day and never take it to a vet, 10-15 if you treat it like a proper pet. Also, seriously, neuter that fucker. They're HORRIBLE pets otherwise- stinky and temperamental and hard to littertrain.

OP here. Do you know about how much that would cost? We're considering adopting a cat instead, but that little bastard of a bunny jumped up on its house and licked our hands ;-;

I have owned a few rabbits. I had one rabbit that was ~8 years old when it died. I was away at college when it was bitten by a poisonous spider. My parents called when they found him dead. His poop doesn't smell but his pee does a bit but if you clean it often you should be fine. I trained mine to use the litter box. It wasn't hard actually. He was a lovable rabbit and even let my 4 year old cousin pick it up. I used to volunteer at a rabbit rescue and would foster baby rabbits until they could be found homes. My rabbit would turn into a cute, nice daddy for them and let them play with him.
