dear /an/,

anyone else here keeps frogs? these are my guys. they are Dendrobates tinctorius, Suriname Cobalt color morph.

I keep several morphs of pumilio and have good size colony of variabilis going. I've kept pretty much every species of dendrobates legally available in the states.
BTW, is that a pair, the one on the hut definitely looks male (slimmer body shape and toe pads)

op here. i have no idea if they are a pair, i bought them when they were a couple months old in January. there's too much ambient noise in my pet room for me to tell if he's calling or not. that one does do toe-tapping, though.

i'll try to get a better picture of the other one so maybe someone who knows better can tell me.

i've started keeping a shallow dish of water in their hut so hopefully if i do have a pair they'll mate.

I have 4 yellow Galactonotus I got about a month ago. They're about 4-5 months old now.

op here, couldn't get a better picture of the other guy but I noticed he also had toe pads. so maybe two males. oh well, i'll still keep their water set up in case i'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's the size of the toepads that matter, both sexes have them but one is bigger than the other ( I think). Also I think females supposed to be larger than males.

toe-tapping is just a feeding response. also, they don't lay their eggs in water, just any smooth surface will do. the males will keep them hydrated. the males have larger toepads and in general are a little leaner. female do tend to be a little large and plumper.

I want some frogs. I just need to get some vivariums ready and find some good places to buy them from. I want Phyllomedusa bicolor, Dendrobates azureus, Agalychnis callidryas, and Theloderma corticale.

I need to deal with finding mates for four of my lizard species first though. With the female Phelsuma quadriocellata I'm getting tomorrow I'll be just three lizards away from starting on my frogs.
