/an/, can you help me?

If allele frequencies are A=.7 and a=.3 in a large, random breeding population, calculate the allele and gentype frequencies in the next generation
>> Anonymous
don't you just multiply them or something? Bilology.

i don't give a shit about biology but this seems like plug n' chug... short, sweet, and 2 the point! just bear down n' grin it!

well, since I'm bored and studying for bio anyway, I guess I can help you out since I need the practice.

p = dominant allele
q= recessive allele

the allele frequencies:
p= .7, q=.3

genotype frequencies:
q^2=.09, 2pq =.42, p^2= .49

This is for the... first? generation... I can't remember how to find the next generation's frequencies... I'll try to solve it and put it in my next post if I can...

people posting serious questions on/b/? the stories iv heard of 4chan must have been incorrect...

do you have any more information, OP? like the exact number of the size of the population of the second generation?

(I may be over-thinking this... but w/e, it's good review)

Every generation afterward is the same, learn2 hardy-weinberg. Assuming no change in gene frequency that is.

your not on /b/

but my not is on /an/

Hardy-Weinberg = proportion, you don't need to know the size of the population per se.

well that's good, I guess that means I don't have to do any more work

it was 2 or so in the morning and I haven't touched hardy weinberg in about 5 months. I wouldn't be able to help you (OP) now either since I'm pretty fucked up on ketorolac right now from all that shit I had to deal w/ yesterday

again, thanks for the review, OP and hopefully those were the right answers

(I bet he's not even listening to me... so ronery ;_; )
