Doves? TheCraftyTitan !py0Ym4iRJw
Okay...somewhere down the line, I'd like to get a couple of pet doves or pigeons. My parents had a ringneck dove for the longest time and took good care of it, so I have a good idea of what they're like as pets, but where exactly are you supposed to get them? I haven't seen them at any pet stores, I don't know of any good bird shops, and I don't think jerry-rigging a good old box-and-stick trap in my backyard and waiting for one to walk in would be a good idea (fun though it may be). So how should I handle this when I decide I want the birds? Just pick up the phone book and start looking for shops? Hopefully someone here has an idea...

I'm not sure where you are located on the planet. In the USA where i am. You can search for sales on them. Either locally at bird shows or through google. Slim the search down to the state your in to make it easier too.

Well, what kind of pet stores do you have in your area? I worked at a PetSmart once and we usually had doves either in the store or available to order free for the customer. I'd imagine Pet Co would do the same (maybe?). If you can't find (or don't want to purchase) doves from a large chain store like that, you could probably ask employees there for a recommendation. In my experience, they typically know where local/specialty pet stores are.. especially managers.

Also, try Google. Look up your city/area/whatever and "dove breeders." You might be able to find something a lot more specific that way.
