Want a dog Mitch
I am thinking of getting a dog (or cat) within a year. I want something that doesn't need to be exercised A LOT (German Shepard) and is good inside.Recommendations?

Any advice for someone about to get a dog?

What're you, lazy? Dogs are great for excersize! If you aren't up to the task, however, I recommend a papillon or corgi. For bigger dogs, more excersize is needed...save for standard poodles. Or perhaps a dalmation. But they're not always good with kids, if you have any.
If all else fails, cats are great.

Good luck!

i love my english springer spaniel. super intelligent, and very handsome. spaniels are good dogs in general, but my favorite is english springer

wrong. Corgis are herding dogs and NEED to be exercised. Corgis may be small, but they're technically a "medium" sized dog

you fucking kidding me? standard poodles were bred for duck hunting, they need just as much exercise as any other large dog

if you don't want to walk a dog, get a cat. otherwise you'll just have an uhappy dog.

You have to walk your dog every day. Don't get a dog if you can't handle it. Get a fucking ferret.

WRONG.

English Bulldog. they sleep ALL the time. Exercise? Those stubby legs and big body means they get plenty of exercise in a small area.

Plus they are the sweetest dogs ever.

Kind of expensive though . . .

Yeah right.

I owned an English bulldog and most by far are not lazy. I mean christ mine ripped up her dog runner a few times just from being bored. Not to mention they get incredibly fat if you do not exercise them and that will create more problems sooo. OP just get a cat.

DO NOT GET A HUSKY! They are the best dogs, but they shed so much you would die having him inside.

Personally, I dont think dogs belong inside...it brings the household sanitary level way down.

I miss my old husky =/

Are you retarded? German shepherds are WORKING DOGS and need lots of exercise and mental stimulus every day. Besides, any dog you get really should be walked at least once a day.

Get a cat if you can't stand the thought of taking a walk every day.

If your dog is fat the you aren't getting enough exercise

Get a spaniel. They're usually tighter and don't bite back. They're small enough so you can hold them down without much effort.

OP

Greyhounds are good inside house pets who amazingly enough don't need more then a 15 minute walk everyday and are very laid back and excellent indoor pets. A shopkeeper I know has a retired racer (he's only 5) and he's very placid. If you have a dog park though, you should let him have a good run every now and then, they are built for running. Other then that I'm seriously thinking of getting one because I'm stuck with a cane and can't have an active dog either. Just a thought.

Protip: DON'T GET A DOG

big dogs usualy need more excersize. If you just want something that will sleep around in your house and do nothing then maybe a cat is right for you. Even small dogs love going for walkies and playing fetch and junk.

I beg to differ, I had a mastiff who behaved as though he were just a walking couch.

dogs need a lot more care than cats. OP, you sound lazy. Either get a cat, or get nothing.

Haha I had 2 Danes who were exactly the same.

But they wouldn't turn down a good chase around the yard though 8).

I'd say either:

1. get a cat

or 2. if you *really* just want a dog, maybe try going for a Yorkshire Terrier. my disabled grandma keeps one, and she has no problems with him.

I have an English Bulldog. He's just lazy as fuck. Sure, he likes to play but if you run around for 15 minutes, he's tired.

I've noticed this same behavior with the 2 bulldogs a friend of mine has.

And fuck anyone who says they're ugly. They're the cutest dog/pigs ever.
