hay /an/, I recently saw this creature in my back room. Anyone here think they can identify it? For scale its body was about the size of a dime minus the abdamon.

looks like some kind of arachnid.

Here is another image i took after my cat had walked by. Strangely enough the spider was the only one who responded and this was the result. Anyways I hope someone can identify it because I've never seen one like it and hopefully don't encounter one again.

I'm not a spider expert, but those colors scream stay away. Just avoid the thing or take it out from a long distance.

where about do you live?

It appears to be wearing some sort of night vision monocle

I live in central Mid-West. I talked to my father and he thinks it could be a "fiddleback" however neither of us have a clue
>> Anonymous
find a way to kill it from across the room.
i suggest a shotgun.

It doesn't look like a fiddleback, but then again the picture is out of focus. A fiddleback spider will have just that, a small fiddle shape on the top of his head.

It kinda looks like this guy. The description as far as size goes fits, too; whole body, this spider is about an inch long. My picture is of a fishing spider, found usually south-western US from California to Texas and Oklahoma, so might be a bit out of your area.

I think it may be a Brown recluse spider, not usually harmful but keep away.

Brown Recluse/Fiddleback Spider will fuck your day up, kill quick and pest bomb the house. While they may not kill you, they will send you to the hospital pretty quick do to there venom that causes your skin to rot at the bite mark. If you want proof of damage, google "brown recluse bite" or just wait a couple minutes for people to start posting bites here. It's not pretty.

P.S. OP that doesn't look to be a brown recluse, but picture is hard to tell. Kill it to be safe.

Thanks a lot for the help. I'll be sure to be careful around my back room. I do believe the possibility of it being a Brown recluse, although the fishing spider got me a little nervous.

BTW I loved the night vision monocle bit and shotgun remark was good too.

The pictures are pretty crappy quality but I am fairly certain that is not a Brown Recluse. If I had to guess I would bet Hobo Spider due to the banded legs and herring-bone pattern on it's abdomen. There is no verifiable proof as far as I am concerned but some people believe that the Hobo Spider has a necrotic bite similar to the Recluse, though if it does have necrotic venom it is not as potent as the Recluse.

lol I love the critique over my photo skills. Truthfully I tend to get real creeped out by spiders. I took the photo with my hand stretched out as far as possible. Oh well at least I managed to get the information across.

This stuff works great. I gave this quarter sized spider one spritz from 2 meters away, and the next morning it had curled up and died.

Not for quick kills mind you, but this stuff is effective and harmless to humans and warm-blooded animals.
