My family's looking for a Beagle puppy, but we're having trouble finding one that fits our criteria. I've been helping them out by checking PetFinder.com daily, Craigslist, and perusing local classified ads, but all of the ads in my area have come from breeders looking to scalp people for high prices over the holidays. So, my question is, are there any places online I can find $100-$200 Beagle puppies in my area that aren't from pet stores or charging ridiculous prices? We're not averse to breeders, but also not looking to pay an arm and a leg for one.

Thanks.

Purebred animals cost money. If you're unwilling to spend that money, then you might want to consider a mutt instead.

Yeah, I understand this, but I'm just asking if there are other venues to look.

We've had two Beagle dogs before that both came from local people; both cost under $100. It's possible to get good deals on purebred dogs (as I can attest to), but you have to be lucky to find people that are just looking to get rid of them.

See if you can get one at a breed rescue. Usually cheaper and you're helping already existing animals find good homes.

Yeah, I think the majority of the one's in my area are listed on PetFinder, which is why I check there daily.

Yeah, but they'll be shitty quality backyard-bred dogs.

Thats how my roommate and I got our Siberian Huskies for $100 each. Perfect health, purebread, AKC registered blah blah. Show dog quality though I dont give a shit about that.

Not necessarily. The one Beagle we had was even a show dog for a brief period of time.

Since /an/ doesn't get much traffic, might as well try bumping this for the weekend crew.

Why not wait until after Christmas?
I see beagles for $50 or less in the bargain hunter (news paper deal) here all the time. They're up tripple that now. Hell, after Christmas you'll probably have your pick of discarded dogs when the families realize what a bitch raising a puppy can be. Just put an add 'wanted beagle puppy'.
