Hey I need some help you guys.

I am going camping next friday saturday and sunday. It will just be me and this girl that I met today.

We are going to be camping at a national park that doesnt allow fire-making.

What should I pack. I want to stay under 50 pounds or so?

I know I need these things, but am I missing anything else?

-tent
-backpack
-flashlight
-dry food
-water purifier

You just met the girl and you have no idea how to camp?
Sound like a really bad idea.

Go to a five star hotel. It's going to be cheaper when compared with the mess an inexperienced camper can do.

Don't forget the vodka if fires are prohibited.

>knife (a weapon against attackers)

oh you silly, paranoid americans

You need to carry a knife, but simply because its useful, not for self defense.

Wooow XD I'm a girly girl and even I know how to camp better than this. Sorry man, but when you camp, you do NOT pack light. The point of camping isto do things lla naturally, as best you can.
You'll need an ice chest, be it styrofoam or plastic to store the food in, or some sort of large container like that at least. Prepackaged food does not keep racoons and opossums at bay. Don't pack just a lot of snack food either. Jerky, bread, peanut butter, jelly/jam, fruit and veggies (they don't need to be refridgerated, believe it or not.)
Hell, bring canned things unless you're too pampered to eat soup or whatnot without it being warmed up first.
Also, look up on youtube something called "Solar Oven", and you'll be able to cook pretty much whatever you want with that thing.
Bring blankets, sleeping bags tend to get too hot for some people and they're extremely noisey.
And lol, a knife for protection? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I mean, are you guys going somewhere well known for random killings while camping, or are you just some dude who watches too many gay horror movies? People usually band together when they camp, not the other way around. Knives are used as tools, not weapons, fr camping.
unless you're getting attacked by a bear or something, but then youre fucked either way.
Bring some TP unless you want to wipe your ass with leaves. Plenty of clothes for hiking, maybe swim suits if you plan on swimming..

Or better yet, maybe you should research camping or go with people who know what the fuck they're doing.

You try camping in the United States without a knife.

Enjoy being raped by hobos.

unless he's driving up to his campsite your "advice" is crap. bring canned food, an ice chest, and blankets... wtf? how are two people going to carry that much shit?

siiiigh
if they're too weak to carry that much, good luck to them surviving camping

sex is all you need for survival

Rent a log cabin in a National Park, dumbass.

I think he is already gone at this point. Hope he is wiping his ass with poison ivy.

Typically, if someone mentions that they're camping it means that it's a drive-in site. If someone mentions that they're backpacking, then it can be assumed that their site will be hiked in.

>>301599
oh, my mistake then. although, since OP said he wants to pack light he might actually be going backpacking.

>>301573
i don't see how an inability to carry heavy, unnecessary items would hinder someone's ability to camp.
>> Anonymous
>>301608
because that shit isn't even that heavy and if they aren't strong enough to carry a few things they probably aren't strong enough to survive outside in the wild.

But they're probably actually going to some fancy "campsite" where they can walk over to a store and buy all they shit they need anyway, so it doesn't even matter

I can't stand camping at any kind of organized site, it totally beats the purpose of camping. The last time I did that there were 15 Mexicans throwing a party all night not 100ft from us.
>> Anonymous
>>301621
Can't say it wasn't wild.
>> Anonymous
>>301613
it's not that the items themselves are extremely heavy, it's that their ratio of heaviness to usefulness is very large. there is no reason to bring canned food or an ice chest when there is plenty of food that can travel in a ziploc bag.

lol, last time i went camping, our site was near a water faucet, so people were constantly standing around our tent talking. i guess it takes ten people talking loudly to fill up a water bottle.

You know, it might sound counterproductive, but you should smear beef jerky all over your body before you go to sleep. It will keep bears and other animals away. Trust me, it really works.

I do live in the United States, dumbfuck. And I live in the midwest where that type of shit can easily happen what with all the barren land and camp grounds, but does it? Extremely rare.
Besides, a knife is not going to deter someone who wants to kill you in the middle of nowhere. They have advantages of observing and being able to avoid those types of weapons, and hell, unless you have perfect aim and can stab the attacker in the groin, heart, spine, or head, won't matter anyway. Bring a damn gun if you want protection, pussies.
Why the fuck would they need to carry it anywhere other than to the camp site? Like stated before, only if they're backpacking, but this is about camping, where you have your own personal area to store the shit you bring. Besides, all of that stuff isn't even that heavy. I used to go camping every summer until I was 13 and that's the stuff we brought, plus other weird things my mom found necessary to pack. Seriously, if they can't handle that much stuff, they shouldn't be camping in the first place.

HURR DURR I THINK I IMPORTANT TO BE KILLED THAT WHY I NEED KNIFE ALSO LOOK TOUGH TO FIANCE I MEET YESTERDAY

Son, you're going to realize that at most the knife is going to be the most awesome tool (more awesome than you) at the campsite and it'll never get used as a weapon.

Looks like you already have your mind made up for things to bring on your camping trip. Go ahead, lug it all and if you and this 'girl' decide to go camping again you'll realize "I didn't need this last time" and leave it at home and discover HOT SHIT MY PACK IS TWICE AS LIGHT NOW!!!

when real people camp, they don't camp in a parking lot next to their car
