Can an anti-social cat be trained to be lovable again?

He's three years old and doesn't socialize with people AT ALL. Just roams around like a lost soul. If you try to play with him, he looks at you like "wtf are you doing?" and then walks away.

pic somewhat related. Looks like my grandma's asshole cat I've been asked to take in since she can no longer care for him.

Give it space, pet it when it wants to. Let it come to you. Pet it before feeding it. Slowly it should warm up on its own terms.

Thanks. I dont have a lot of experience with cats except for a few cuddly kittens. I was afraid he's a lost cause and will fill my home with his hatred. You have given me hope.

Ignore him. Cats seem to crave more attention when they're being ignored.

Cats are dumb like that.

Just take the cat, put it in a box, close the box, put it on a shelf.

cat liek box.

I approve of this.

Or, since it is a cat, just snap its neck and toss the fucker out.

My cat is the same way. But he only warmed up to me.

My tip, use food. If your cat begins to associate you with yummy food, he'll start to warm up to you a bit more. Pet him once you feed him and let him get used to human contact.

If you want him to play, use some catnip. It usually works. Eventually start covering toys with catnip, let him play with them, and then do the same with cat toys that involve human contact (even if it's a stick with a shoestring and catnip mouse tied to it)
