Hello /an/, I could use some help in identifying this spider's species.

From what I can tell, its web looks like an orb weaver web of some kind. I searched pictures and descriptions online and I think it may be a garden orb weaver, but I am not sure.

Your thoughts?

One last picture for good measure. It's rather colorful, isn't it? I haven't seen many spiders as colorful as this.

Also, the pictures may not provide a good ense of scale. The spider is bigger than a quarter, it's huge.

A harmless garden spider.

Yeah, seconded. Possibly araneus quadratus. They can be huge.
