So, quick question, if a heavily cultivated area were to be abandoned how long would it take for the area to recede back into a heavily forested area?
Theoretical situation would take place in Honduras or the like. Need it for a history paper, pic unrelated but awsome.

Never, because the fertile topsoil used to let seeds grow was all cultivated and turned to shit by the farmers.

100-200 years sounds about right from what i can tell from that chart. What do you guys think?
I'm trying to establish a time line for Mayan collapse based off botanical samples from the period.
I'm thinking 820-1000 and pollen samples show that mahogany pollen didn't show up until 1000 meaning total collapse was about a 200 year period.
Pretty flimsy evidence to make a claim off of but it'll work.
