How to get a bunny to stop digging? Anonymous
Hey, /an/, I just got a bunny! He's a real character. Unfortunately, the last time I had pet rabbits I was too small to care for them myself. As such, I had to go back and learn how to care for them properly. I've gotten him potty trained and acclimated to his new home just fine, but there's a problem-- he likes to dig in his litter box, spraying rabbit shit everywhere. He thinks it's funny. My landlord does not. I take him outside to play at least once a day, but he doesn't want to dig out there. He doesn't even want to dig in his food bowl. How do I get him to stop this?

Go to home depot and get one of those big cardboard tubes. I had an Holland Lop who'd dig that for hours with no end. It's a bit noise but...
Also, is he neutered?
Also, I have a foam rug (you got the squares and put them together) around the litterbox. My bunnies don't dig but it's easier to clean if hay falls around the litterbox.

Also, big litterbox helps. You can get one of those plastic cement mixing trays and don't fill it up. Just cover the bottom with a thick layer of carefresh.

He is adorable, but Holland Lops can be the devil, so learn to deal with it.

OP here. I just brought him home a week ago, so he's not neutered yet. Planning on getting that done soon, though.

I'll try picking up that stuff. I was a dipshit and bought a fairly shallow litterbox.

It's hard to get him to pose when I'm not holding a treat. He's really energetic.

Also, learn to trim his nails and keep them trimmed.

I miss my bun ;-;

He sounds full of personality, OP. I'm envious :) How did you get him potty trained? I never could get mine to do it and always regretted it. He mostly lived out in a big chicken pen to a ripe old age.

He was a big friendly boy :( Way to make me sad, OP.
