monkey keeping a cat as pet !!
>> Anonymous
Poor dog. I don't like these little monkeys. They're rude and they smell.
>> Anonymous
why do they do that, it makes no sense for a monkey to want a pet
>> Anonymous
They want something to rule, just like humans.

if they want to eat it, it makes no sense for them to keep it alive and potentially run away, so I don't think the monkeys want to eat them. As for keeping around a "pet" for amusement... that goes against the laws of nature... maybe they're just imitating humans? I haven't seen any wild monkeys keep small animals around...

There is no law of nature against keeping pets.

sure there is, keeping a pet requires you to spend energy and resources to take care and feed it, it goes against natural selection because all animals devote ALL their energy and time to survival and reproduction. that's why humans are the only ones who keep pets, because we're highly evolved and have more than abundant food supplies

Koko the gorilla kept pets. She liked cats.

But she's in captivity, so maybe that explains it.

We are not more or less evolved. You do not understand at all. To say something is more or less evolved implies that evolution has an end point or perfection. That is not true. Evolution is merely constant flux.

It probably has something to do with parenting instincts. If they don't have offspring of their own, they adopt something.
