I'm kinda worried. We had a box with two or three chocolate donuts, and my mom didn't lock the house up so our new poodle wouldn't tear shit up.

We just came home (gone about two hours) to find the donut box ripped and the donuts gone. One of them was, luckily, whole; we fear the worst about the others.

Should I be worried? He's a big dog (up to my waist, I'm 6 ft.)

1. It's a poodle. No one gives a shit if it dies.
2. If it's a large poodle then it probably won't be harmed.
3. If your dog gets sick or you really are worried take the fucking thing to a vet instead of asking on 4chan.
4. ???
5. GTFO

Shut the shit up. Poodle's (at least, Standard and King sizes) are good, smart dogs. All I've met were nice and very easily trained.
OP, I have a Standard Poodle, and he's gotten into chocolate countless times. He's never shown any side effects or illness from it. Basically, if nothing seems wrong, its fine. Just remember to keep it far away, or on top of something tall in the future.
Any illness/issues, call the vet.

Learn to spell, retard. It's "poodles", not "poodle's".

Anyway, chances are that if they were ordinary chocolate donuts, your dog is probably OK. Most "chocolate donuts" contain very little actual chocolate. It's mostly artificial colors and flavors, which won't hurt your dog. It's the natrual chocolate that is harmful to dogs. On the other hand, if you had some kind of artisan-bakery donuts or homemade ones that had a lot of actual chocolate in them, then that is cause for concern.

If you are worried, you need to contact a vet ASAP.

Force your dog to puke.

It's highly unlikely that there was enough chocolate in the donuts to harm your dog. Google "dogs chocolate" for exact amounts. Worry more about dark chocolate, small dogs.

My cousins were idiots and used to feed their medium sized mutt chocolate rabbits. Surprisingly, he did alright. Probably because most of those aren't even real chocolate. It should be fine with only two donuts.

There is a chemical in chocolate (theobromine, maybe?) that is toxic to dogs. In large enough doses, it will kill them. However, the effect on a particular dog depends on a lot of things, such as the dog's size, strength of the chocolate (dark is worst, white chocolate is not as bad), and the individual dog. Some dogs are just able to metabolize it better than others. I think your dog sounds like it will be fine, but just because you hear people say "oh, i used to feed my dog chocolate all the time, it won't hurt your dog" doesn't really mean shit, so be careful.

Basically (and this could answer a lot of questions on /an/), if your pet seems visibly ill, take it to the vet.

You can force it to puke if you need to by giving it a couple of spoonfuls of hydrogen peroxide, but do it outside, 'cause the puking is IMMEDIATE.

Unless it's something like half a block of cooking/catering chocolate, trust me, your dog is fine. Commercial chocolate toppings are just esters + sugar + vegetable fat + colouring.

Despite the number of people who say this or that will certainly kill dogs, I've seen lots of cases where I was the only one freaking out over giving something.

My friend keeps maltese puppies, and they go crazy at the prospect of eating macademia nuts (supposed to kill dogs) and chicken bones (bones apparently splinter in intestines killing dogs painfully).

I'm sure a lot of their foods contain onions and garlic too. Or was that poisonous to cats.

Have you ever noticed that chocolate donuts don't ACTUALLY taste like chocolate? That's because they're just sugar and cheap flavouring. Your dog will be fine.
