hey /an/,

my younger siblings won three fish at a fair yesterday. they bought a fishbowl kit, with the intention of buying a tank soon. this morning, two of the fish were dead. i'm looking at the last one, and it keeps bumping into the plant. it is also constantly "coming up for air". is it dying? & is there anything i can do to help it?

google new tank syndrome, nitrogen cycle, and ammonia

let it die and save yourself a shit ton of money and trouble

problem w/ goldfish is, people think they are a simple easy fish that can be stuck in an overcrowded bowl and be good. goldfish need space to swim and grow and proper filtration. the fish is most likely dieing

nitrite poisoning.
change water now.

If you change the water daily (treated with something to remove the chlorine, as it will kill them pretty quickly), a fish can stay in a bowl for a while with no ill effects. I would consider it an emergency fix, though, and would get a proper tank asap.
