MEET the world’s first sheep-hog — a PIG with its own FLEECE.

Scientists are baffled by the strange swine — which they say is a pig “at heart” but with a woolly hide.

The one-year-old is being raised on a ranch near the town of Esquina, 400 miles north of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It was a gift to owner Felipe Olivetti from a neighbouring farm.

He admitted: “Experts have told us it is unique.

“It is a pig but has a thick fleece which needs shearing in summer with the other sheep because it suffers in the heat. Other pigs do not trust it.”

This might not be as daft as it appears. The story does say that a livestock expert, a Professor no less, is puzzled by it. One would assume he is aware of the hungarian variant and has discounted it. The coat of the Argentinian pig does look more "wooly" than the Hungarian one, which looks a bit more "hairy". On the other hand, the source is The Sun, so the whole thing might be a fabrication, or very far emoved from the truth.
Who knows? Given the enormous numbers of swine that are bred all over the world, finding a wooly one might not be so unexpected. Pic related.

Mods/janitors, if you're going to delete pics that illustrate a perfectly valid scientific point referred to in the text and do not break any of the rules, while we have idiot macros and shops littering the threads for days on end, I give up, I really do.

This is the pic that got deleted. If you can't see the connection between it and the post, you're moderating the wrong board.

Sage cos this thread is dead anyway.

interesting and slightly related-- i heard on the discovery channel special about hogzilla that if an ordinary farm pig gets out into the wild it goes wierd and feral in no time. They were saying it grows a coat of hair, long warthog like tusks and bulks up in muscle in as little as 2 months. thats some crazy shit right there.
