MonkeyToho
So when I came home this evening, I found a bat in my house.

I've no clue how it got inside; we generally don't keep the windows open.

At first, I thought it was just a rubber toy left by a friend, as it was chilling by my bedroom door, but as I drew my hand near it moved and flew down the stairs.

He was pretty chill when he landed by the window; managed to get some decent close-ups.

Pardon the camera quality. It's old, and I was in a hurry.

Despite the image, he's not that big.

Smash him with a bowling pin. I'm beyond terrified of bats.

Moments before we released him back outside.

The noises these things make are horrendous. Screeches like a thousand tiny daggers.

But he's so cute.

I <3 bats.

I wasn't the one holding it; didn't even touch the thing.

Instead, I got some other gullible sucker to do it.

seriously, whomever touched it should get rabies shots IMMEDIATELY. Any bat that tame around people surely has it. Bats are vicious fuckers and hate people, so if it was that cool being held...head to the ER.

I don't know about that. They're just mice basically--it was disoriented and probably confused by the lights and activity, and if it didn't sense an immediate threat (such as.... being smashed with a bowling pin..) it probably wouldn't freak out and bite anybody.

Rabies isn't transmitted by touching anyways. >( You'd have to be bitten. Bats aren't very neurotic. It was already exhausted and just wanted to hide somewhere.

The bat is cute and you did well.

You have to get bitten in order to get rabies, or scratched.

I recently did some volunteer work for someone working on bats. Here is one we caught

bitten or scratched, which means basically if it touched you and it just grazed the skin, and did not draw blood, the potential for rabies exists.
And 15% of bats in the USA have rabies, don't believe me, go research it yourself. I had to get 20 of these fuckers out of my attic and it was not fun.
