Chocolate & Dogs Anonymous
I know that dogs cannot eat too much chocolate because of an inability to process a particular chemical that exists in it. But, do dogs actually enjoy the taste of chocolate? I didn't know their pallet contains sophisticated taste buds like ours.

Dogs will eat the shit out of chocolate if given the chance, but I don't think their taste buds are nearly as well developed though. I used to babysit three spaniels who all had different likes and dislikes--one wouldn't eat watermelon, the other didn't like spiced sausage, but they all loved anything sweet.

I figure with how bland kibble must taste, if they're eating it on a daily basis, pretty much anything that tastes different to them will seem good for eating.

Unlike cats, dogs can taste sweet. They have pretty sophisitcated tastes.

my dog once ate a 3lb bag of peanut m&ms. she also ate an entire chocolate cake, though i doubt that actually had any theobromine in it.

One time when we kids were at school and my parents at work, my dog got into (somehow, I really have no idea how xD) and ate entirely one of those 1lb giant hersheys kisses. We took him to the vet as soon we we got home and the vet said, if he ain't dead yet, don't worry. It would have killed him already if it was gonna. Just be ready for some killer gas.

I thought cats were meant to have a sweet tooth... And that's why they get into antifreeze and die. Or I could just be really mixed up.
