So /an/ this is what happened today.

I was walking home and happened to see a King Charles Spaniel wandering around the street. It had a collar on so I knew it was owned, but wasn't sure if it was lost. So I waited around for a few minutes and could tell the dog was obviously very confused. It then decided to wander onto the road near oncoming traffic, so at that point I picked it up and dialled the number on its collar. There were 2, so I rang the first one.

It was some Asian woman who said she owned the dog. When I told her that I found it wandering around the street, she just said "yes, yes, yes, thankyou, thankyou, sorry, sorry" so I just hung up because it was clear the bitch had no idea what I was saying.

(I live in Australia. Here, Asians immigrate and the husband learns English, goes to work and provides the money for the family, while the wife never knows English and stays at home to take care of the kids.)

So I ring the husband and had some luck with him, he said that his wife was home and gave me the address. He said the dog occasionally wanders around. Then it struck me, what kind of dumb family owns such a tiny, fragile dog, and lets it roam the street?

So I took the dog's collar off, took it to the animal shelter, and left it there. I'm going to pick it up in a week and take him home to meet my other dog (poodle).

Now /an/, was this the right thing to do by the dog, or was this the douchebaggiest thing in history anyone has ever done? Should I pick up the dog myself (if the owners haven't done that already, which I know they won't), or should I take it back to the owners? I doubt they're worried about it though, they seemingly care so little about its welfare.

Pic related, a King Charles Spaniel.

What you did was good, yes. Although I would not recommend that you adopt the dog yourself immediately. Wait to see if any other caring family wants it (Do shelters go through complete hell to make sure pets go to a good family there?)

you should have just taken it home instead of the shelter.. cut out the middle man. i <3 these dogs!!!!!!!!!

You could have just sold the thing on the internet.

Technically you stole someones dog...which is wrong and you could get in trouble.

If they are just letting it walk the streets maybe you could inform the RSPCA...or threaten the family that you'll tell hte RSPCA and see if they'll let you keep it, cos they obviously dont care about it.

My dad did they that to this woman who was starving her horses, she said he could take them and he nursed them back to health.

I just wouldn't want you to get in trouble just cos you care about a wonderful animal.

Hope you had your phone set to private number, OP. Their dog just got stolen and on the same day, a stranger called them both and asked about the dog.

Don't go back to the animal shelter for at least a month. If it's still there, then pick it up. If not, then maybe the owners came to get it or maybe it's gone to a good home.

How are people so stupid when it comes to animal care?

As far as that goes OP, it's possible that the dog is an escape artist and not merely unrestrained?

They're Asians bro, they were probably raising it and getting ready to fatten that son of a bitch up for some good eats.

Should have actually visited the family and examined the conditions before deciding everything on your own based only on assumptions.

Dognapped. If a mod cared enough, he'd take your IP and report you.

OP here

Looks like someone the dog from the shelter. I hope it gets better care if it was collected by the real owners; it wasn't in great shape when I turned it in to the shelter.

I'll walk by the same place in a day or so though, my instinct tell me I'll see the dog again.

I stole my neighbors dog once, and took it to a shelter. They left it out in horrible weather and the dad hit it when he was drunk. Fuck them.

I would have just kept it. But if they don't check the shelter to see if their dog is there, then fuck them. If they're going to let it roam the city, they don't deserve it.

you mean someone accidentally the whole dog from the shelter?
>> Anonymous
Leave him at the shelter. Spaniels are morons.

OP what you did is probably illegal. It's theft here in the US, but I can't say about Australia.
>> Anonymous
I think you should've just kept it, op. I would've.
