Jesus christ, I accidentally stepped on a gecko while walking to the bathroom. It made a wet popping noise and left a reddish brown bloodstain on my foot.

While I was washing my foot, another gecko started chirping inside my house, which made me feel really bad because his buddy won't be chirping back.

Might as well go stepping on his buddy so that he won't feel lonely.

Better question is, what are geckos doing loose in your home?

Great, now I'm going to be imagining that wet popping sound for the next 20 minutes.

Geckos are all over the place in tropical countries. Most people ignore them because they're harmless (no visible droppings, no offensive smells, mostly quiet except for the occasional chirping noises they use to locate other geckos in the house). They eat bugs like spiders and roaches.

I live in Ecuador. There are about five green iguanas living in my backyard, too. Tropical countries are weird.

They ARE feral. Green iguanas are the South American equivalent of squirrels. They're all over the place. It's annoying because iguanas blend in with the leaves, and they take these massive, watery shits. It's like a supersized version of pigeon poop. Everybody here knows someone who's been drenched with iguana poop while walking underneath a tree.

I'm not the OP but I live in Texas and these things are everywhere. Inside and outside.

I live in Australia, and I've had a few that looked just like OP's living in my house as well
