Dachshunds are good dogs. They've been bred to hunt badgers and are pretty fearless. Like all dogs, dachshunds are born with personalities. Some are easier to train than others, some are more athletic, and some are more affectionate. It just depends. Generally, you can tell a dogs personality from a very young age. I have two miniature dachshunds. One is an affectionate, grumpy jerk, the other is a very peppy, playful and shy dog. For the most part, dachshunds can be very stubborn and defiant if they choose to be. Raising them from pups and training them to know who's boss will produce a very loyal pet. The only drawback of having a pure bred is that they're more likely to have back problems. Otherwise, they're a cute and fun breed of dog.
