Hey /an/, I have a general question.

What's the best food to feed to your cats? I feed them Felidae now and fed Blue Buffalo in the past.

What's you opinion?

We always gave our cats the brand that *they* chose.
Some cats only ever liked the cheapest food with whole fish in jelly, others preferred more expensive brands, but no cat liked cat food with excessive fillers or any colours. They all got very old and our oldest cat right now at 18 grew up on the cheap stuff. The quality of the cheap cat food has dropped over the years, with more jelly than fish sometimes, so now he only likes the really expensive stuff in small cans only. It also has less fat - he spews a lot with cheaper fatty food.
The more cat food looks fake and processed, the more you should avoid it. Feed him dry food as well, to exercise his teeth, give him grass and top up his diet with human-grade raw lean beef mince and heavily washed with hot water (by you) chicken necks.
Don't feed him cat snacks, or crap like that since they are often low quality. Also, try to avoid a brand that was involved in the poisoned pet food scandal. They don't deserve your business and have proven how little they care about the health and wellbeing of your pet.

Yeah, probably. My cats never finish their squirrel or shrew... Funny thing, I have a cat named Ozzy that eats bats.

I feed Solid Gold cat food. Honestly, any super-premium food will do, and unless you're a breeder or you show, you won't notice many big differences between brands. The main deciding factor is your cat - what does their biological makeup determine is the easiest to digest? If your cat's coat is shiny, their energy levels great, and their stool production is low, then stick with that food.

Seriously? You do know that the recall was 99% wet food because those aren't made in-house, right? You know that it affected some 50 or more brands, right? These were all made by Menu Foods, a Canadian canned food distributor. There was nothing wrong with the dry food from these brands at all, as they were produced differently (read: under close supervision, and not out of the country).

Does it matter WHERE it was made?? Even when another company makes your product, you are still responsible for the quality. After all - you collect the money, right? Your name is on the can.
These companies could have made their own independent tests. Let's not forget that some companies took a very long time to pull their crap off the shelves in the first place. Knowing all too well, their products were affected. Ignorance is no excuse and neither is greed. Especially when lives are at stake.

Both my cats get Science Diet, the dry food and some canned stuff. Ended up switching to it because a friend whined about how their last brand was involved in animal testing or some shit like that. Oh, now I remember. It was Eukanuba. Can /an/ confirm? Or was I tricked?

Anyway, the science diet works out just fine. Both cats didn't really like Eukanuba anyway so the switch was easy.

Orijen dry and Natura Evo canned (every other day or so, they get a bit squirty if given too frequently but they love the stuff) for my cats. Both are grain free.

i used to feed my cats regular, mid-priced cat food, then i switched to purina one. i wil never feed them anything else. they stopped shedding everywhere, their fur is like silk and they're eyes are so shiney and clear. not to ention all the energy they have now... and it keeps their teeth clean. it's better than that fucking health food crap you buy at the vet

I have my two dogs and two cats on Blue Buffalo, and I know my parents' cats are also on the Blue Buffalo. The brands that have been mentioned here are all good--just don't want the really mainsteam stuff, like Iams, because of some animal cruelty issues, and also some "questionable ingredients" in the food.

And Meow Mix will make your kitties fat. If you've got indoor cats it's always good to go with an indoor or "diet" food.

if you buy your cat food in the grocery store, all you're doing is feeding you cats a bunch of unnecessary ingredients. All main stream brands use fillers in their cat food, which is bad for the cat.
The best foods to feed your cat are holistic foods. Check the ingredients. Does it have corn in it? Don't buy it.
Felidae and Innova Evo are THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST

Srsly. look it up on online

Try going grain free with your cat. It's pricey, but well worth the money. Some are Innova Evo, Nature's Variety Instinct, Wellness Core, Pet Curien Go! and Now! are some. But the Felidae is fine, it's a good quality food. Just stay away from Science Diet, Iams/Eukanuba, and Purina products. They're all junk. And don't even waste your time with Meow Mix or Friskies.

meow mix is more owner snacks than something you feed your cat.

You're going to trust a company that can't get one thing right but assume they'll get the rest right? They're a businsess, out to make money, out to cut corners which increase their profit margins.
Sure they'll do commercials of their CEO, hat-in-hand, admitting "mea culpa" but they know in a year everyone's going to forget and if there haven't been any issues since then nobody's really going to fucking care.
The best cat food for your cat is the food which actually lists meat as its first ingredient, not meat-by-products or fillers or any of the various varieties of gluten.
Cats are obligate carnivores who aren't developed to handle grains and non-meats like dogs or humans. Also be careful with feeding fish to your cat or she'll develop yellow fat disease. Supposedly the only way to avoid it is with doses of vitamin e.
Cats are evolved from desert creatures. In their natural habitat most likely they never ate fish once in their life. Red meat, free-range bird and squirrel are the best choices for your kitty.

I just feed my cat Purina Cat Chow, and I fed the cat before him the same thing. My dog also loves it. Haha
