I just got my Bunny rabbit last Sunday from a pet store.

I found out the breed a couple minutes ago. it's a Netherland dwarf. in the article it said that leafy vegetables like letuce and cabbages may cause diarrhea.

Panda bear wouldn't touch his pellets but the only thing he will eat is the lettuce. I don't want him starving but that's the only thing he eats. how do I get him to eat the pellets?

it's kaytee bunny feed if it that helps.

Thanks in advance!

and can you tell how old my rabbit actually is from the picture? because I really wanna know.

Have you tried carrots? My bunny loved wild cabbage. You can try feeding him different vegetables and see what he likes.
You're keeping him inside? Beware tiny poo hiding everywhere.

BTW, mine was a dwarf too.

yeah. I let him out of my room a half-hour to an hour every night I get home from work. but he's just trying to run off and find some hiding place. he loves the lettuce though.

the wikipedia article scares me though.

Hay is better for him than pellets. Give him as much timothy hay and orchard grass and he wants, limit the pellets. He'll probably take to that.

rabbit.org has plenty of awesome info.

Iceburg lettuce is the bad kind (the pale white/green that is sold as a head of lettuce), go for deeply colored green leaf or romaine lettuce and other green vegetables at the store. You can give him a variety of veggies and little bit of non-citrus fruit like apples, for roughage you can buy bags of timothy hay at most retail stores for about $3. When spring rolls around, hay bales are cheaper if you have garage/shed space.

He may just not like the kind of pellets you have. If they are brownish in color, they may not be fresh enough for his liking. And yes, check out the links anon has listed!

Since he's from a pet store, he is probably only about a few months old. It's hard to tell without seeing him being held by a people.

Dear hell, where the fuck are these faggots coming from lately?

OP, pellets aren't that great for them anyway, especially Kaytee brand. Switch him over to hay, like the others have said. I used to make my rabbit little romaine salads from time to time, also.

If you feed your rabbit mostly pellets, you'll end up with a miserable animal with overgrown teeth and GI problems. I've had 6 house rabbits since I was growing up and over that time I went from being totally ignorant of propper rabbit care to being a veritable expert on their maintenance and nutrition.

Put in a little effort and locate a place where you can buy a barnyard-sized bale of *Timothy* hay, and a place to keep said bale in your house or toolshed. Give him a table spoon of pellets (Kaytee should be fine, since it's such a small ammount) a day, 1/2 cup leafy veggies, and free choice hay. Introduce the fresh veggies in small ammounts and you should be fine.

Also, fuckin' spay or nueter it or it'll turn into a little asshole. Sadly enough, it's true that most pet stores don't give a shit whether or not they give good information to their customers.

Its actually a Jersey Wooly stupid. Netherlands do not have long hair, a JW is basically one with long hair though. Do your rabbit breed homework shitface.

AVOID KAYTEE!
Avoid Kaytee ANYTHING. Their nutritional balance is always screwed up (Google it, I bet the protein's way too high) and that can lead to sensitivities and neurological problems. Besides, they use preservatives that cause tumors.
Just don't buy anything they make. They're awful. Hay is best for bunnies; you can get enough to feed a bunny for life from a livestock supply house for almost nothing, if you live in farm country.

Well that explains why he's so sweet and smart.

he fucking loves to give bunny kisses. he responds to voice commands.

also: thanks guys! I'm going to buy him bags of hay.
