/an/ what is this?

I found it on my lawn chair outside and brought it inside since it's gonna be below freezing tonight. Can I keep it?
>> Anonymous
It is a giant isopodic house centipede. They are dangerous to keep, since they enjoy raping human eye sockets.
>> Anonymous
it's a huge praying mantis. awesome
>> Anonymous
They're harmless, and yes you can keep them.
>> Anonymous
it's illegal to kill them since they're endangered...of course...it would help if the females would stop killing the males after mating too...

You know, i think what i love the most about her is her inborn need to dominate, to possess. In fact immediately after the consumation of her marriage to the smaller and weaker male of the species, she kills and eats him.
Such power and dignity, unhampered by sentiment. If I may put forward a slice of personal philosophy, I feel that man has ruled this world as a stumbling demented child king long enough! And as his empire crumbles, my precious Mantis shall rise as his most fitting successor!

I read that as >Mantits ftw

Actually, that looks like one of the big mantises imported from Japan. Those are not endangered.
>> Anonymous
Probably is. Most mantids aren't endangered, so by all means keep it and have fun.

I've had two, and oddly enough one was really affectionate towards humans. She used to stand on my head while I was at the computer.

Eeech. Those things freak me out, but ... if you like 'em, by all means go at it. o.o

Whatever you do. Don't have sex with it, or it will bite your head off!

What's the pain power of these guys? Able to draw blood, or welts? If not for these guys, what's the pain power of your everyday mantis, and I'll multiply it by two.
