Hey, folks. Not a frequent /an/ visitor, but, I was curious and thought you guys would know the most about this.

What can you guys tell me about Korats? Are they a particularly rare breed? Are they hard to find in the US?

Thanks.

ITT: People who want a cat breed instead of a shelter kitty that will act exactly the same but not sound snobby enough when they tell all their friends

This is truth. The friendliest cat I ever owned was a stray.

I do not know much about the US but from my experience with different breeds get a norwegian forest cat. It is the most amazing cat I ever had and it was free. :)

I would accept people paying good money for a forest cat or a maine coon, just becuase they are fuck huge, though some random long haired shelter cat would probably be just as good.

I would also accept people buying a persian for their flat face, but I would also want those people to die in a fire. That said a shelter somewhere killed a persian look-a-like today, and a burman, himalayan, abyssinian, russian blue etc...
Also that said people can spend their money on whatever the fuck they want.

Though people who want an american or british shorthair make me ffffffffffffffffffffffffff

British shorthairs have funny faces. Do domestic shorthairs in England look like British shorthairs? If so, I wonder how hard it would be to get a shelter cat from England to the US...

The best cat you can get is a stray kitten in the spring. When I was a kid my family found a litter, and adopted two of them (looking back, we might've adopted them too young, but that wasn't the worry at the time). Suffice to say, my favorite cat ever was one of those kittens.

Personally unless you've done your OWN research on the breed and have a particular fondness for it, then just get a shelter cat. It's one thing to hold a passion, another just to want a cat with a label.

Do your own research and if you love the breed enough then you'll do the work it takes to get them. This means shelling out a lot of cash and taking the time to find a reliable breeder.
