Hey /an/. This weekend I took in a stray cat. He showed up on the grave of a cat that recently died that I had for 15 years. He's a persian like him too and has the same personality. Wierd enough, he also goes to the same spots my old cat used to. The only differation he has is his color, but its similar the cat I have currently (that was also a stray). Now this cat is declawed, house trained and very friendly, obviously a pet, so tomorrow I'm gonna go have him scanned for a microchip. My question is, if he doesn't have one, do I decide to keep him or should I atleast put up flyers around my neighborhood or something? If he was just a stray I'd just keep him, but knowing he's somebody elses pet, I don't know when to say he's mine or whatever.

Pic related: The stray on the left and my other cat on the right, he won't let him out of his sight.

How can you keep a stray cat?
A stray will always want to get out at some point.
It's perfectly normal for a cat to wander around and visit different "owners" for food and love.

it's not a stray, it's declawed and house trained implying it's a pet.

I'd suggest you put up flyers if the owner is not found. Instead of posting full info on the cat, just write something like "Long-haired cat found, contact for details". If the owners really care, they will call and ask for details themselves. If not, cat is yours.

scan for chip & if there is none: keep that stray.

personality...might be typical for persians. its like with maine coons (gentle) and siams (noisy).
