Guinea pigs Anonymous
hey, /an/ I was thinking about getting my guinea pig a companion, I've had him for about a month now, and I was thinking that he may want a friend since they are social creatures. Does it depend on the animal if it is safe to introduce another male? And I guess I should wait till I can invest in a bigger cage though.

if you're guinea pig is a male, i wouldn't reccomend getting another male piggy friend for him unless they are both nuetered cuz hormones and teritorial issues may cause them to fight and fighting piggys make me cry ;_;
also, a bigger cage is a really good idea because of the territoral issues again. well.. you should have your piggy nutered regardless of the companion's sex.... personality plays an issue for it too, so... yeah its complicated.

Well I got one and they seem to be going alone well, they do interact, it's still abit of a dominance battle, no real biting or anything. I made a cage which is about twice the size of the one I had before, and it's more lengthwise than width, so they each have their houses on opposing sides. The pig I had for longer likes it, he was running around popcorning, of course the newer one is still shell shocked from being moved in, but they seem to respect eachother.
