URRRGGGHHH CRABB!!
>> Anonymous
I can imagine breeding takes a lot of patience, the perfect temperature, season and well-being. oh, and a female and male.

I got a couple hermit crabs but all they do is stay in their little coconut hut. Little bastards.

I know they get up and move around sometimes, but it must be at fucking four in the morning or something because no matter how late I am up I do not see them.

Are hermits difficult to keep? Especially those bastards that get really big and look awesome.
>> Anonymous
>>251104
yes, they are hard to keep if you want them to live a long time. there is a woman who has had a pair for 30 years, thats just a world record though. and most people can only keep them for about 3 years max. so they seem pretty hard to take care of if you want them to live for a while.

THIS THREAD IS ADORABLE.
I had a few hermit crabs when I was around 16 or 17. I had them for about a year and I admit I didn't take great care of them and I regret it. They caught some kind of lice and died. My sisters had some crabs too but they took terrible care of them so I adopted the ones that were still alive, but they didn't last long either. If you get a crab, get them a sponge for the water because they fall in and don't know how to swim. Give them a water bath (I don't remember how often). And they are nocturnal. I'd hear them up and scratching around their aquarium cage at like 12-5 am or so. I don't have pics of them or I'd post.

I'm pretty sure they will need to change their shell after a while, especially when they're young. So you might want to put alot of shells in their aquarium.

amusingly, coconut crab can't swim, or breath underwater. as per their namesake, they get around by clinging to a coconut and letting the ocean currents take them where they will go
