So how are Owls as pets? Would there be one type thats better then another? Feeding wouldnt be too hard, mice are cheap because they are food already. But how about cleaning up, any way to get them to shit in a specific spot so it would be easier?

See, this isn't the kind of thing you ask /an/, because then you get responses like Mr.>>330202here. Go work at a wildlife sanctuary that has an owl for a while and then come to a conclusion.

In the US you have to have a permit. In the UK I think you can just buy one from a breeder, though, so laws vary country to country. They require whole food, like day old chicks and mice. You have to feed them properly and either flight train them or keep them in a large aviary. You can't potty train them at all. I don't recommend keeping any bird of prey in your house, unless you want to clean up shit all day long. Also, they produce 'pellets' which are kinda like hairballs made of the undigestable parts of their prey. And some species can be quite aggressive.

Also, keep in mind that owls kill things with their feet. So if you get one you will need to wear leather gloves while you handle them or you will get puncture wounds and blood poisoning. Birds of prey are not recommended for beginning owners, if you want to get one find an experienced, properly licensed, person who keeps them who is willing to teach you. Volunteer at a sanctuary or zoo for a few years before getting one.
