Hey /an/,

I've always wondered what kind of breed my dog, Lillie, might be. She was found (along with her brother, who was adopted by another family) by my older brother about 5 years ago in an ally, so we never had a good grasp on what she could be besides just a regular mutt.

This is her before she had her eyes removed from a horrible incident.

She escaped from my old home back in 02 (she was about 2 years old at the time) on Valentines Day. We couldn't find her over the weekend, so we had to wait until the pound opened up on Monday, and we called them up. We spoke to the main person at the place about how we lost a small blond dog, and they went through all the cages and found what we had explained to them.

We rushed down there, and I was the first one to find her... She had her eyes hanging from her sockets, one being crushed against the skull. We were told that a policeman found her wandering around only a street away from our own home.

We took her to the vet, and they surgically removed her eyes. The vet told us this couldn't have been from a car accident, but more possibly someone attacked Lillie and had used an object (like a baseball bat) to hurt her with.

So yeah, that's what happened to her. She managed to live quite well with her condition and doesn't seem to let her loss of sight get to her too much.

It was an old home and it was falling apart from every which way, really. Also, it was my parent's house.

I moved out last year, and now my dog (plus my cat) live with me in my apartment.

That's fucked that someone would do that to her =(

OP, how big is she? It is kind of confusing. Her colouring is really lablike, maybe a lab/terrier mix of sorts?

(Also, out of strange curiousity, did they stitch her eyes shut or does she naturally keep them closed up?)

She's slightly smaller than a medium sized dog.

They stitched her eyes closed, which caused her some pain and itching.

Hm, does she have any spots on her tongue?

Reconsidering my initial guess after looking at the pictures a bit more. It looks like her tail kind of curves up. She could be a lab/chow mix like suggested earlier, too (though I'd think she'd be more stocky, but you never know with mixes.)

No idea what breed she is. She's probably got some Lab in her like 90% of mutts do, and her coloring and face strongly suggest it.

She's a beautiful dog. How can people willingly hurt animals?

Her tail does curl up slightly, and she has one or two grey/dark spots on her tongue.

Some people find it funny to hurt or abuse animals. Some hate animals so to 'teach them a lesson' they'll purposely hurt the animal.

Thank god that dog's got you OP. Hearing how she was abused literally brings tears to my eyes, but at least she'll have a happy life now.

Thank you, I do appreciate the kind words. I love Lillie very much, and do whatever I can to make her life more comfortable.

I hate humans and I want to teach them all a lesson with a baseball bat until their eyes are hanging out of their sockets and then they have to live with their sockets sewn up. I would LOVE that.

Well, don't hate every human out there, but the ones who do harm animals for laughs or whatever.

She looks very chow/lab. I can really see the Chow in the face. Beautiful mutt.
Also, too bad you don't have this eyeless cat to be her friend <3

Looks like she's mostly a lab/chow mix, perhaps with some sort of shepherd thrown somewhere in there.

Also, I'm really sorry about what happened to her. That's awful...it sickens me that ANYONE would do that to an animal. Fucking sick. I'm glad she survived through the abuse, though, and it's good she has a loving home to take care of her.

I used to work at an animal shelter in the south and i saw some really fucked up shit. One time we came across this guy beating the hell out of his dog with a shovel, needless to say the dog died. So i watched my partner pick up the shovel and beat the shit out of him. I never got so much pleasure from watching a man scream in pain.

Liar.
Personally, I only like cats. I consider myself a lover of some animals, but I've got very biased opinions of others. I hate ugly animals, elephants, hippos, dogs, simians of all sorts, fishes, etc. Dogs to me, are the epitome of American sensibility (Californiafag here) Slobbering, slovenly, sycophantic animals. I have never had a bad experience with a dog, nor have I always felt this way. But alas, I have grown quite disgusted by these idiotic animals, and would not hesitate to do great bodily harm to any sort of canine, if the situation warranted. ie. "attacks", overzealous barking, shitting on my lawn, or getting anywhere within 5 feet of me. Dogs are mindless, useless, eating and shitting machines, I know, a brutally stark parallel to the general population of America in general. That is how I feel about dogs.
