A few days ago I was driving on the highway with my brother and he freaks out and sees this spider walking down the front window. I pull over, let him on my hands than walk him out to the woods. The look on my brothers face was priceless. Is /an/'s compassion for all living things, and not just the ones that are cute?

Not mosquitoes or mice, but otherwise, yeah, I'm kind to animals.

my friend did this with a ladybird on her side window, and it was a little weird...

I kill spiders, but just regular insects I find insane I try to help back out. But then again I found a fucking 4inch scorpion in my backyard a few days ago and beat the hell out of it with a piece of metal.

I love people like you. A few years ago when I was in class, a large black insect was crawling on the floor in the middle of everyone. I was too far away to identify it, but I knew I wasn't getting up to do anything about it, mostly because I didn't like anyone there and I was lazy. Well, this hippy, wannabe, mall goth girl decides to "show it compassion" and pick it up to take it outside. As she is cuddling and baby talking it, it bites her hard and she throws the thing at the wall. I laughed heartily, then asked her if she learned anything.

that's not compassion, that's attention whoring.

I kill any and all spiders I find, but I don't kill anything else.

I especially hate people that use glue traps for mice.
>> Anonymous
I kill insects and laugh, but I'm kind to every single mammal I see at least.

vermin that could spread disease to your family/pets should be dealt with appropriately, but i generally let nondeadly spiders, reptiles and bugs(aside from silverfish) do their thing
>> Anonymous
I kill most bugs, especially spiders. My mother on the otherhand if she sees one will take a piece of paper and use that to put the spider on it and set it outside (she still doesn't like them). Unfortunately I don't have that kind of patience.

I'd hug that spider... but this black widow... hell no. Kill it!! kill it with fireeeee

I live in the south and its hunters galore.

All of my neighbors hunt.

Lately all of the rabbits, owls, snakes, deer, hawks have made a home in my backyard. Every now and then I will feed them.

I kill mosquitoes sometimes, and sometimes I feed bugs to my pet lizard.
But I hate it when people kill harmless bugs for no reason. Unless there's some infestation or crazy shit, it's not like a single fly on your window is gonna kill you.

Oh, and generally you shouldn't kill spiders or you'll have a mess of other insets to deal with.

if i find an ant or bug in my house i get it outside. the only things i actively kill are camel crickets. fucking hate them. spiders i let live if they don't crawl on my floor.

Killing spiders and removing cobwebs bring bad luck.
Also, seeing a spider in the morning is bad luck, seeing it in the afternoon is good luck.

Nothing where I live is harmful so generally I let them be. I just don't see the point in killing insects or snails, etc. for no reason.
>> Anonymous
lol i love you morons that kill the spiders but not the insects that actually spread disease.

Just spiders, but I kill those mercilessly at every opportunity. Everything else is saved and perfectly fine, except if I'm in a pissy mood and a cranefly is wiggling all over everything before landing and being distracting, and I don't have much patience for them. I always thought crane flies were like, the retards of the bug world. Too slow to dodge attacks and never even move if you're about to kill them. That, and June Bugs.

ITT: Xenophobes.

I show compassion to every single thing and rarely needlessly kill things. Right now I know the location of at least 3 widows in my house. I leave them alone because they take care of loose crickets. They don't bother me. Scorpions often get in the house, but I just capture them and keep them.

The only thing I destroy on occasion are widow eggsacs to control the population.

I know there's a spider living ON my towel in the bathroom, but despite my arachnophobia I've come to a truce with it because we're a couple days from HEAVY DUTY MOSQUITO SEASON.
I just wish it would move somewhere else, I'm afraid I might crush it by accident.

Ok, I could understand if you squished a widow, they're, you know, a little dangerous. And that was, you know, just a bit of an understatement.

They're overrated. Latrodectus mactans on the east coast is bad, but it won't kill you unless you're a baby or nearly dead old guy. We have Latrodectus hesperus which is even less neurotoxic. It'll still put you out of commission for a couple days, possibly send you to the hospital, but that doesn't matter. They're relatively docile spiders that won't bite unless you dangle your hands in their web or attempt to kill them.

Best part about them is that they make awesome, low-maintenance pets.

I try not to kill things. Even spiders. And I fucking hate spiders.

I did kill a wasp the other day. I didn't want it to sting my kitties. I also killed a mosquito. But I felt bad after killing both.

Just think of all the microscopic organisms you kill daily without even realizing it!

I used to be bugged by spiders until I saw one of the long legged (not a daddy-long-legs but similar) hanging out on my wall. When he would try to walk and one of his feet wouldn't stick he'd lick each problem foot before testing it out again. then when I tried to put him outside (it was cold) he curled up into a little panicked ball. Suddenly he went from "I guess I won't kill this icky thing" to kinda cute.

what about my 2 cats and a small dog (they will surly die if a widow bite them, since all the widows I have seen in my house are at the reach of my pets).. besides I know they WON'T kill me, but I don't want to be in pain either.
>> Anonymous
You people DO know that putting spiders outside is just as deadly as a good squishing? The spiders you find inside are -indoor- spiders, and live in your house for their whole lives -- you just don't usually see them. If you leave them alone for a few hours, maybe even a day or two, they'll be gone without making you do a thing about them.

I know I certainly try to love everything, regardless of what it looks like. I don't think very many animals are ugly and some of the cute ones are just plain mean, so cuteness isn't always a winning factor. I try to help any animal in need if I can, and am very careful when I drive.
As for whether to squash or not, it's pretty impossible to avoid killing bugs and such, but I try not to if I can help it. Parasites and flies are the only things I really can't stand.

Jumping Spiders are adorable.

I know I'm a hippy bastard but I can't stand killing insects of any sort aside from mosquitoes and these ugly mofos.

The only thing i kill are wasps. Mostly because they attack my dogs because they always want to eat them, but i've always hated them anyway. I do like bee's though, never been bothered by them before.

Unless you live in somewhere tropical where it’s always warm, like Hawai‘i. Our spiders waltz in and out of houses all the time, just like the roaches, termites, ants, geckos, skinks, anoles, rats, mongeese, cats, and occasional small birds. That’s why people don’t leave their doors open for very long.

I get various spiders around the house all the time. I always shoo them out, except for the jumping spiders. I *always* make it a point to kill jumping spiders because they have nasty bites and like human body warmth at night.
