Hey /an/.
My birthday is coming up pretty soon and I was thinking about getting myself a dog, I've always wanted one and I finally have a chance to get one...
I'd like either a husky or a corgi, huskies are out of the picture though because I live in Texas and the climate here isn't exactly husky-friendly.
So! Post some awesome dogs, and please let me know what kind they are, I'm undecided on what exactly I want so maybe you guys can help me out :D

You need to do some research. Huskies demand a lot of exercise, are you up to walk every day for at the very least one hour?
Choose a dog that goes with your temperament and life style or you will end feeling miserable and the dog will end on a pond.

OP here, no no, I'm saying that as much as I want a husky I'm NOT going to get one. I know they require a massive amount of attention and it's hella hot where I live so it's probably not the best weather to have a husky in.

Husky and Corgi don't give any indication of what you are looking for in a dog other than you like dogs which are well known...

Do you want something small, large, low maintenance, high maintenance, do you want to walk it, run it, throw frisbee with it, do you have the money to feed something big or do you need to stay small... There are a lot of factors.

My family has always had (black or chocolate) labs, so maybe I'm biased, but I think labradors are good dogs for just about any arrangement. I've had both larger and small labs, but it's their warm, loyal temperament that I find attractive. The typical lab is eager to please, energetic, and loves you no matter what. They love to swim, too, so if you like going to the beach (Texas has lots of coast line, doesn't it?), they'd just love to come with you.

Their temperament also makes them really easy to train with gentle, persistent practice, which is always a plus. Dogs that are well trained always seem much happier. :D

CORGI

Corgis (and obviously huskies) aren't exactly low energy dogs - they have endearing personalities if you're a patient person (and I'm willing to bet 98% of anon are not). Way too many people buy them just because the Internet has a lot of cute corgi pictures.

Go to dogbreedinfo.com. Breeds are divided up into categories, including energy, size, etc.

Is correct, unless you're anal about looks, labs are the every man's dog.

Choosing a dog based solely on looks is pretty stupid.

Either do some research and find out what would suit your life the best, or just go to the shelter and fall in love with some poor unwanted mutt.

to op i say you get a corgi like in ops picture

I own a Basenji myself, and if you have the commitment, I'd highly suggest one. Bumble Bee is by far the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. BUT.
She is also needy, hyperactive, greedy, hogs the bed, lays on my clean laundry, and most importantly requires more exercise that you can handle if you can't spend an hour with a husky.

Did you know that if you hug one of those too tight their eyes can pop out of their heads?

Oh the joys of breeding..

Get a wolf hybrid. Best dogs ever!

Get a mutt. They can be as cute, smart, adorable and awesome as any pure breed. Just rescue one from a shelter instead of giving shitloads of many to some breeder.
I've had a lot of dogs (until today I already had 17 dogs, still have 2), they were all mutts and the greatest dogs ever.
