In a way, it's a good thing that city-stomping-sized monsters aren't real, but wouldn't it be more exciting if they did exist?

I'm pretty happy without living in fear everyday of being smooshed by a foot, thanks.

unless it's a flying monster like Rodan, you can usually hear them coming. 66,000-ton monsters aren't exactly ninjas.

you can usually hear and see tsunamis coming too, doesn't mean you can do much about it.

It'd still be cool though, especially if there were nice monsters like Mothra. And you'd be safe if you lived in a city without a lot of skyscrapers and high-rises. Monsters never attack cities without them.

That'd be hawt...

If those things did exist, they wouldn't exist for long. Seriously, how long do you think it would take before people figured out all their weaknesses and hunted them to extinction?

Yup, cuz we all know that things like Godzilla have glaring weaknesses.

American missiles.

they don't work, either. 1960's Godzilla vs Mothra showed that.

Of course they do: the same bizarre pseudoscience that allowed them to exist in the first place. How do you stop a giant radioactive monster? Let's magically turn oxygen into an acid that only devours vertebrates.

>>222327

If there are ones on Earth, there are worse ones in space. After the first King Ghidorah or Gigan or Spacegodzilla, I think the Earth monsters would become highly protected species, seeing as we'd be boned without them when the next space monster touched down.

Mothra might not try to eat or stomp you, but isn't she radioactive? So even if she battles other monsters and saves the day, you'll still get cancer.

Depends on the continuity, I guess. Mothra's a deity, not a mutated moth, but in some movie continuities her sacred temple was at the center of nuclear tests. So in those, I guess residual fallout on her could transfer off. But most continuities just had her civilisation up and abandoned centuries ago, without any nuclear reason in sight. I'm pretty sure she's safe to be around in those.
