I've seen these bugs in my room all summer and I don't even know what they are. I need a name or something that'll let me look them up to see what's attracting them.

Giant stinkbugs. Do not try and squash them, because whatever you squash them with will stink forever.

OMG ITS GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!

Yeah, one of many types of assassin beetle. They got in my clothes and when I got dressed, it bit me on the leg! Basically they stab you with their mouth and inject poison. It took a while for the stinging to stop, then a few weeks for the bite mark to go away. So if you have a bunch of these in your room, make sure to shake out your clothes before you put them on!

stink/shield bug.

They get all over new england and other places in the fall.

OP here, this is in Canada, though. They don't stink when I squash them and I've also seen a yellow variation of them (last year they were all yellow, this year, they're all black).

Assassin BUG, beetles are another order.

I've heard them called "boxelder bugs"

They don't do shit, let alone carry venom

Boxelder bugs have a red outline, assassin bugs seem to be closer to what I'm looking for. The ones I've seen are either all black or all yellow (with tiny brown spots). They don't really do much other than fly around and piss me off with their annoying flapping sounds.

Or, it might be a leaf-footed bug. Hard to tell from the picture.

OP here, I think you got it right. I just did a search for it and I got the yellowy-brown one I saw all of last year.

The abdomen says Reduviidae (assassin bug), the hindfemur says Coreidae (leaf footed bug). A better picture from the side in good light will lead you to the answer you seek.

It's a common Stinkbug.
