Hay /an/, I have a sizable chunk of land in lower Wisconsin, and I want to grow something, preferably trees of some sort.

What do you suggest?

Picture unrelated.

...

is it me or does that look like a naked figure with its left leg lifted up, its arms outstretched upward, and its head tilted off to the right?

Yeah, my head is in a bit of a daze.

No, I see that as well. I would have just called it a ballerina or something. Or figure skater.

What kinda tree is that, anyway? It's amazing how it grew like that...

A bunch of photos were posted like that once. I believe they were actually modified photos that some artist uploaded onto his website.

depends on the size of your land and what you want the trees for OP.

Most broad leaf trees will take a long time to grow, but you can get many pines and conifers that grow faster, odds on your best bet would be corsican pines.

They grow fairly fast and straight, after 12 years you should have a nice woodland to enjoy or enough wood to cut down for a slight profit if you are looking for a bit of cash.

However, for the ammount of money you get out the the wood after 12 years you would have been better off putting the cash in a savings account unless you have a huge amount of land to play with and can fell the wood in mozaics (this is better for the wildlife than clearfelling too).

trees, you say?

The tree was "trained" to grow that way by restricting its branches over a long period by some old guy with a lot of time. Nice result though. There's plenty more examples on the Web.
