people only buy pitbulls because they think they are getting a security system that works for dogfood. There's one down the street from me that was loose in its yard and ran up and snapped at me for my sin of walking down the sidewalk.

If that thing ever so much as touches me, the police will be there to take it to be put down faster than the owner can say "oh shit I'm so sued."

This little seven-week old whore.

She bites.

She may be teething, but holy fuck, she bites my hand while I sleep. Not playful, teething bites. Fucking "i'm going to tear you to pieces" bites.

SHE MAKES ME BLEEEEEEEEED

Also domesticated dogs are not born to kill. They are made.

Non-domesticated dogs are born to kill.

d'aaaaw..yes puppies bite/teethe, but when they do you have to pull your hand away and act really hurt so they get the message

I do, she just doesn't get the message. ):

Smack her every time she does it. If you're a baby back bitch and go OOHHHH I DONT WANT TO HURT THE PUPPYKINS then you're going to wind up with a full grown German Shepard beating the shit out of you on a daily basis. They are smart, and they will take advantage of you.
>> Anonymous
>>338863

Smacking can lead to aggressiveness. Any form of physical punishment can be bad for a dog in their future years.

You shouldn't let a dog bite/teeth on you, nor should you hit them when they do it.

Say "NO!" in a loud/high pitch voice. The high-pitch and loud sound is what littermates use to tell another pup he has gone too far. The "no" word teaches the puppy that "No" means do not do that.

Actually some 'aggressive' breeds of dogs can be affectionate as well. My father has a pit bull/Australian shepherd mix...he has the shape of a pit bull, so some people are afraid of him. Tae might lick you to death, but that is about it:)

Seriously, a lot of it is how they are raised and treated. They'll still have the tendency to be somewhat aggressive and thus might show it sometimes, but they can become like babies when they deal with *you* or people they see often. I've seen Rottweilers be very affectionate with children.
>> Anonymous
That whole "aggressive dogs are born not made" thing is simply untrue. I won't argue that not all pit bulls are mean dogs, but on average I think that the breed is very aggressive, especially towards other dogs.

A friend of my mom's has a pit bull. As far as I can tell, he's an affectionate owner and has never tried to enforce any negative behavior in the dog. Then, one day when the dog happens to run outside, it goes and mauls the unholy hell out of somebody's little dog. That seems like inbred aggression to me.

Of course, that's an arbitrary example, but the meanest dogs I've ever ran into before, and heard stories about, have mostly been pit bulls.
>> Anonymous
>>338897
It does have some truth to it. Pitbulls were bred to be aggressive. That's why they're predispositioned to be violent.
>> Anonymous
>>338907
All of the Michael Vick pits were rehabilitated and rehomed. It's the owner, not the dog. Pits are just much more likely to have asshole owners how don't train them right, or train them to be aggressive.
>> Anonymous
>>338897
It's not how it's work. Given the same situation than another dog "aggressive" ones are know to react more violently and dangerously, simply because of their frame and hormone balance. Don't bullshit us with "how I'm such a good owner nothng will happens", because I'm sure if a kid kicked your dog in the ball, he'll rip it in half, what shouldn't happen with another normal breed.
>> Anonymous
Bullterriers aggressive? All that I have met are friendly even for strangers, maybe nuts (in retarded way), but aggressive would not be the first or second adjetive to come to my mind.
>> Anonymous
>>338910
So what you're suggesting is that all those countless generations of breeding to make pit bulls violent and aggressive were totally wasted, because biological predisposition has no effect at all once training kicks in?
>> Anonymous
>>338907

Wrong. Bred to please people, thats why its so easy to train them to attack other dogs or other animals, they just want you happy.
>> Anonymous
youre all morons, its the dog itself not the breed.
my friend had a jack russel terrier that was the most violent thing ever. he had a good home and wasnt abused at all. it doesnt mean its the owner or the breed. the dog can sometimes just be an asshole.

with pits its generally the niggers/beaners that own them and train them to fight though.

The American Staffordshire, the English Staffordshire, the American Pit Bullterrier, the bullterrier, etc, etc are all dogs bred to be aggressive towards other dogs. And specifically bred to be loyal and calm towards humans. Because if they wouldn't be calm & loyal to humans there'd be no way of handling them. If the dog of this breed is aggressive towards humans, you've failed as an owner. If they're aggressive towards other dogs; most of the time you can socialize it away.

Towards other dogs, yes. It can't be denied.
>> Anonymous
>>339170
Predisposition to aggression is an inherited trait. Predisposition to aggression towards one thing but not another is not an inherited trait, and cannot be.
Therefore, by default, Pit Bulls are aggressive towards dogs AND humans, and the ones that aren't aggressive towards humans have been explicitly trained in such a manner.
This is in direct contrast to the typical Pit Bull owner's idea that aggression towards humans is taught, rather than bred in.

If most pits are so nasty-bred-in-outta-control-aggressive, why does Caesar Milan have dozens of them "rehabilitated" and living happily together in giant pens?

A: Because propper training has a MUCH stronger influence on a dog's behavior than genetics.

No, but he's right about the training, sort of. Any dog needs training, but the key is to acclimate aggressive dogs to the presence of other at an extremely young age. I'm talking right-out-of-the-womb young.

I have a pit bull that was rejected by its mother, and he spent his whole life around my cat. He couldn't be more well-behaved, and I didn't even train him more than an ordinary dog.

Your nice Pit Bull is the exception, not the rule.

So far. I'd be keen to try and replicate the circumstances (getting another pit bull at a very young age and seeing how it turns out), but I can't afford another pet. D:
>> ?úmïhô
My mom had pitbulls a large portion of my young life, ranging from expensive, well bread dogs to strays she found wandering around and took pitty on, and I can't remember a single one that was aggressive. Protective and territorial, sure, but not aggressive. They're one of the few breeds of dogs I like.

>>339171
wrong. predisposition to assualt dogs. back when pitbulls were first being bred to fight, any dog that attacked its owner was killed. thusly, human aggressive pits were not heard of. now a days, should assholes make them human aggressive, yeah sure they are. but it is not their true nature.

also, is it just me or do people really forget that pbt's are TERRIERS for christssakes and they have a prey drive just like every other goddamn terrier. jesus. its not that specific breed but the whole group, they were just also bred to be dog aggressive and easily so since they are bigger and have a higher prey drive

sorry im incoherent. just.. ragin.. and rushing

Bring almost any dog in front of the petstore's window full of rats/mice/etc.

Most of them will go for the glass, and some even very violently. They could be the nicest animal but they do have the capabilities to be aggressive.

In terms of personal experience, I find myself agreeing most with this comment. I used to volunteer at our local no-kill dog pound as a dog walker, and I've entered the kennels of probably dozens of unfamiliar pit bulls. I've never been snapped at once by these dogs, and find actually that the Labradors (especially the mixes) were the more nippy, high-strung breed. Having said that, I still wouldn't trust a pit bull alone with a young child or another dog, unless they were raised together since the dog was very young. I love the breed, but I definitely don't think they're the dog for everyone.

Also personally, I think Cesar Millan's training tactics should only be used as a last resort when all other resources have been exhausted (i.e. on dogs who would otherwise be euthanized for being overly aggressive). Day-to-day training should not have to involve scaring the piss out of your dog, or forcing him to run on a treadmill for hours while you sit on the patio drinking a lemonade; all of that can be easily accomplished by a long walk done TOGETHER, and proper socialization starting from an early age.

tl;dr I'm gunna get flammmmmed
