Sick zebra finch Anonymous
Hey /an/,

I have a pair of zebra finches and it seems there is something wrong with the female. She seems to just stay around the bottom of the cage with her feathers fluffed out and moves around very little, she is also opening her beak it seems to breath.

I have her separated into a smaller cage with millet and water with some added vitamin supplement and a 50 watt lamp right by the cage for some radiated heat.

I've seen others get some decent help advise here, any such luck for me?

(finch picture just something i found on google)

It'll probably die at that rate. Unless you're willing to spend thousands to take it to a vet who can't do anything. Good luck.
Fortunetly zerba finches are a really cheap pet that are rather boring and loud.

I owned a few myself, and other birds. They were the least interesting.
Honestly it's probably on it's way out. They don't live that long. I'm not an expert though so who knows, maybe there's a simple answer. You're better off looking it up yourself though rather than waiting for us to give you the wrong answer.

I'm looking and i cant get in touch with a vet 'till morning so i'm hoping if it is just a minor thing it will get better.

I've had zebra finches sick like this before and isolation with some warmth and food and water with vitamin supplement always helped, except i've never had a finch gasping before.

False alert.
She hacked up a couple of millet seeds and is all
better now.
