so i'm buying some red bellied piranhas and i want to have like 6 or 7 of them and i'm not sure what size tank i should buy.

they are babies now only about 1-2 inchs but i have no idea how big they will be in a year from now?

they have a complete package for a tank for 100 dollars for a 20 gallon. what do u guys think do you think they will outgrow that shit cause i mean look at this pic they have a shit ton in there.

They will be dead in six months, that's how big they will be.

what are they really hard to keep alive?

dont fucking buy some exotic shit
enjoy your dead fish

They love to eat beef. But it has to be alive. You will need a living ox every now and then.

do you guys really think these fish would be way more difficult to maintain then regular fish?

why is everyone saying they will die?

i want some of those i'd get like 20 and feed them cats

They are much harder to maintain. Because they eat live food, their tanks require better filtration and a 20% change weekly. They need to have live food given to them daily, in amounts large enough to sustain them (quite a bit of fish for 6-7 piranha), the tank size needed is fairly massive, meaning that is a lot of water to change. They need to be kept warm with specific tank conditions with adequate plant coverage, and even in perfect conditions STILL might eat each other.

Another thing you can feed them is fresh water critters. Mollusks, snails, shrimp, et cetera.

20 gallons for six piranhas? those things you are talking about are just babies you'll need a new tank in 6-8 months

They can grow up to 16 inchs... and you think 20 gallons is going to be big enough for 6 or 7? Save a lot of money in the long run and set up a large, appropriatly sized tank for adults and put the babies in it.

hey alll you stupid people saying "enjoy your dead fish" maybe you should stop and consider that everyone in the world isn't a complete dumb shit at taking care of animals like you are.

Do you know what kind of food and how much of it they need?
Do you know what kind of water and at what temperature do they need?
Do you have the money and time to provide for these fish?
So far I gathered that you want them because it's *fun* to watch them eating other things alive. Good luck.

You can make a large aquarium yourself using wood, vinyl pond liner, and a single big pane of glass. It's cheaper and easier to move. You can make it look just as nice as a normal aquarium. Lots of people do this when they keep large tropical fish such as pacu and red tailed catfish.

You can make your own Piranha chow with shrimp and fish and other non-processed meats. Blend them together (food processor) and freeze the mixture in ice cube trays or shape them to reasonable size and use thawed.

Hard fish to keep indeed, and lots of space needed. Check into getting a Stomatopod (Mantis Shrimp) for a smaller scale but very interesting marine predator.
