Hey /an/,

I have a 6 month old Beagle who is consistantly getting cold... I live in Canada, but it's only 3-5 recently, and I know it's going to get alot colder...

I leave blankets out for her, and pull her little sleeping pillow out of her crate during the day, so if she gets cold, she can lay down, if not with me...

Should I consider purchasing a jacket for her? I've always considered people who dress up their dogs to be rather silly, but i'm considering it, even though I think she'll bite it if we do get one...

Any advice? Or other people who have bought 'clothes' for their animals? Or will she just get used to it?

Thanks for any advice.

She is inside, right?

clothes are only an option for an animal that cannot maintain it's body temperature in certain climates where it is necessary, for a beagle i would consider it an option.

Beagles have pretty short fur, and it does get pretty damn cold up here. Get her some dog clothing. My dog has a warmer coat so we've never had to buy him a sweater, but we sometimes get him to wear booties in the winter. The salt on the sidewalks stings his feet otherwise.

lulz, it's a dog. It's not made of glass and does not need any clothing. Retards.

We'll try putting you outside naked in Canada then.

I'd say for a beagle and if she looks like she's shivering then a dog sweater is probably a good idea. Beagles do have pretty short fur. I also live in Canada and a dog coat or sweater would be a good idea for a short haired, small dog.

If she's inside your house she shouldn't be getting cold. If she's shivering inside your house you might wanna look at going to the vet, could be something else. If she's outside, WTF, bring her in when it's cold.

Do you keep her in the garage...? Do you have heat in said house?

I know houses can be drafty but what I'm getting out of this post as of right now is that your dog is cold in a 65 degree house (or whatever you keep the temp at).

My beagle would shiver all the damn time at that temperature. We have to cover that bastard up with blankets.

I live in southern Ontario and have a beagle, and yeah, she gets pretty cold on her walks, too. I ended up getting her a badass looking quick-release camo jacket so the two of use don't look like complete dicks while out.
