Deletion of "Animal Farm" thread Anonymous
Why has the thread about "Animal Farm" and "Watership Down" been deleted? Those are the two most well-known stories with animals as heros and there should be several people here in this board interested in discussing them.

I think "Watership Down" is superior. Not only because it's an extremely exciting adventure story but also that the animals in it are not just replacements for humans but there are approaches of a unique social/religious system among the rabbits which adds to their natural behaviour.

Unfortunately, I've never read the book. What sort of society/religion do the rabbits create?

Go get it. It has not sold 50 million times for nothing. And if you don't want to spend money, there is always bookchan.

There are examples for several types of rabbit society in the book. The Sandleford warren, the home of the heros looking for a new warren, was organized as monarchy. Then there are two other warrens, one socialist, one with a tyrannic leader. But all not just copies of human society but with peculiar rabbit-like parts. However the rabbits as such share a common mythology about their ancestor hero El-ahreirah and tell stories about his adventures in the book.

It's from a very long time ago when I was in middle school in the computer lab. We needed to come up with a password for our accounts, and I wanted to use my favorite animal at the time for my password, hence "tiger." It needed to be six or more characters though, so I put the name of the river that I lived relatively close to, the Feather River. Tigerfeather. I've just used that since because no one else has it as a username. Now it's gotten to the point where I've been using it for 10+ years. It makes no sense and I get mistaken for a furry all the time. =( I detest furries.

never read it but the movie was extremely depressing. i gasped at one part when the beagle accidentally shot the person who was trying to help him. caught me completely off guard.

and in the movie, they just drown. or its hinted.

A happier ending, sure, but it still suffers for trying to replace "Beasts of England" with whatever the hell the animals were singing in the movie.
