Lycaenidae butterflies Anonymous
In some species, the larvae are attended and protected by ants while feeding on the host plant, and the ants receive sugar-rich honeydew from them, throughout the larval life. In other species, only the first few instars are spent on the plant, and the remainder of the larval lifespan is spent as a predator within the ant nest. It becomes a parasite, feeding on ant regurgitations, or a predator on the ant larvae.[4] The caterpillars pupate inside the ant's nest and the ants continue to look after the pupa.

"You're pretty cool. Wanna come back to my place?"

Butterflies are assholes.

Shock horror. Some animals use other animals to their advantage. Just imagine the sheer perversion of absolute control over numerous species, even the altering of those species, all to suit the needs of another. The ants have it better than cows pigs sheep chickens etc etc.

Survival of the fittest.
Who can trick ants has an advantage in life.

Nothing to bitch about -.-

Pic: proof that butterflies aren't assholes.

I think that's a moth. Either way, is that another moth/butterfly at the top left with the eye, or is that a separate growth?

I don't see differences in butterflies and moths, because I'm german. The only lepidoptera called moths in german are @pic.

Also, they're 2 butterflies on the picture except the Atlas moth, a Caligo (top left) and a Heliconius (down left).

pretty funny though.

There is this special fungus that grows inside of ants when they come in direct contact with it.
The ant brings the fungus into the nest where it infects the other ants and it leaves behind a dead colony.

In b4 PETA fags says that humans are the only species that use other animals to their advantage...

I know the name of this. There is a specie/strain that targets humans as well. I am writing about it, really great apocalypse culture material.

T. gondii infections have the ability to change the behavior of rats and mice, making them drawn to rather than fearful of the scent of cats. This effect is advantageous to the parasite, which will be able to sexually reproduce if its host is eaten by a cat. [4] The infection is almost surgical in its precision, as it does not impact a rat's other fears such as the fear of open spaces or of unfamiliar smelling food. There has been speculation that human behavior may also be affected in some ways, and correlations have been found between latent Toxoplasma infections and various characteristics such as decreased novelty-seeking behavior, slower reactions, feelings of insecurity, and neuroticism.[5]

Several independent pieces of evidence point towards a possible role of Toxoplasma infection in some cases of schizophrenia and paranoia, but this theory does not seem to account for many cases.[6] A recent study has indicated toxoplasmosis is also correlated strongly with an increase in boy births in humans, leading to an alteration of the human sex ratio.[7] According to the researchers, "depending on the antibody concentration, the probability of the birth of a boy can increase up to a value of 0.72 ... which means that for every 260 boys born, 100 girls are born." The study also notes a mean rate of 0.60 to 0.65 (as opposed to the normal 0.51) for Toxoplasma positive mothers.

This right here.

It's stupid to try and superimpose our own measurements of morality and justice on the animal world, but it's perfectly fine to laugh at it.
