Shelter question:When adopting a dog do you think I can adopt him, then pick him up after I move in a week? And when adopting, do we get the dog immediately or in a week's time?
i've wondered the same thing myself when i adopted my dog. we weren't allowed dogs but we were moving soon and i wanted a dog immediately, but we ended up keeping him in our apartment during the last few days we were there.
>>267573Wait, why was that woman crying? Was the dog going to be put to sleep? Gah, that's just fucking depressing.
don't go off-topic, i'm going to the shelter soon and i need to know thisJUST LOOK AT THIS FUCKING PUPPY

every shelter is different. You'll have to ask if they can hold the dog for a week for you.
>>267589is it most likely they'll let me or what? because i don't want to adopt and then have them say "wait a minute you're not keeping the dog?"
>>267592ok, well, can you call them and ask that very same question? The shelters in my area probably would, but I have no idea about other shelters. If they say no, could you have the dog stay with a friend for a week or something?
>>267601what friends....i'll ask right when i get into the shelter, but if not.. nobody better adopt that fucking puppy.else i'll call the people who own this house (renting) and see if i can keep a dog in here/thread
If you're willing to pay the adoption fee up front, most of the shelters I've visited would hold it for a week for you. But you need to pick it up when you say you will or they'll stop holding it.
