Maybe it wants a new hairstyle.

stress, needs attention

Also when I walk by him with any object larger as a shoebox he will freak out and jump onto the floor.

stress. You may have husbandry issues, or he may be ill. A vet visit is in order, as well as rethinking the condition you're keeping the bird in.

It could be because of a disease that the bird has, its mentioned here:

the disease your trying to inquire I believe might be called "Polyomavirus"

Yep, stress, needs attention. Also, check his surroundings. Give him something he can gnaw on (NOT plastic toys.) Get some sort of seed block or something, then he'll have something else to chew on rather than his own feathers.

It's bored, you fucktard. It needs lots of toys and attention. Right now the most amusing thing it can do with its time is pluck itself bald. Go buy the poor thing some goddamn enrichment. Or if you're a cheap ass you can make some toys at home. In general, parrots should have at least 5 or 6 toys in the cage at all times, and you should alternate them weekly.

i work in the bird department of a pet store adn when are birds start to pluck its cause of a few things. we do a few things to try and help. 1) spend more time with him. its as easy as taking him into the shower with you and playing with him in there ( my bird loves it) 2) give him more fresh fruits to eat 3) move him to a new location, if his not already in a high traffic area, ie where theres always people. move him to one. and the one our birds usually respond to, get a bunch of coloured paper, rip them into long strips then tie them in the middle and hang it inside his cage. cheap, easy, and it usually works for our birds for a bit.

make sure to spend more time with him and look around online for explinations. i wouldnt bring him to a vet, cause they make up alot of false explinations. call a breeder and ask them. they usually know alot more.
