Since this thing doesn't seem to have a widely accepted common name other than "water bug", I urge /an/ to come up with one. Kokopelli bug maybe? Kokopelli is a humpbacked Native American spirit associated with insects, trickery and fertility, and a story about him involves him carrying a baby on his back to give to a woman.
