Hello /an/

Here's the situation, I have two female rats and only one cage. I want to get one of them pregnant so I can feed the babies to my pacman toad. I'll be buying a male soon who I want to dispose of once I know my rat is pregnant, but how would I go upon getting only one pregnant? Would I have to buy a small cage for them to fornicate in and how would I know for sure that she's pregnant?

What the fuck does your picture have to do with this?

Oh geeze, I forgot to put in a picture of some cute rat, excuse me.

Yes, you'll need a separate cage. I can't remember for sure, but female rats cycle every four days or something like that, so if you want to make sure she gets pregnant, leave her in there with the boy for a week. By around 14 days, you can palpitate her midsection area and should be feeling little lumps the size of rice grains--those are her pups--and by 17 days it should be fairly obvious whether or not she's pregnant. She'll give birth at around 21 days, so you have quite a bit of a wait ahead of you if you do go about this route.

Oh yeah, and you might want to keep her separate from the other girl while she's pregnant, because (depending on how big you want the pups to be) she might not take care of them if there's another rat in the cage with her, or the other girl might kill them.

At first I read 'rat' as 'cat' and I was about to rage.
