The legal hassles are small in relation to what it takes to take care of such an animal.
Fishing Cats are NOT domesticated. They are wild animals. They will spray urine everywhere (scent marking). They won't use a litter box. they don't eat commercial cat food, so be prepared to buy meat for their food. They bite and scratch, even when "playing". They see pretty much anything as a prey item--wether it be a guinea pig or a 100 lb Doberman--or your grandmother, for that matter. Be prepared to get attacked--and cats like this don't play around. To put things into perspective, a cat of this size and weight CAN kill a 100 lb deer.
While it is possible to keep one in captivity, what these photos don't show you is that it's not all fun-and-games.

...now take the problems described therein and amplfiy them. Fishing Cats are 100% wild. The problematic hybrids described in that link are mostly domestic with just some wild blood in them.
