My dog is killing any and all small animals that come into our yard (Cats, Rabbits, something that looks like a Woodchuck). Is this normal? How do I get it to stop?

Pic semi-relate, but not my dog.

animal instincts and natural order of life is very normal.

if you care for any of those critters, hose them away before your dog gets to them

Any dog that kills cats on site should be rewarded with food and praise. Teach it to kill catfags and you've got the perfect pet.

How does that dog kill anything? It doesn't look like it runs a whole lot..

If it bothers you, tie him up. Also, get him some good training. It will make him a better dog and you a better owner.

You are a fucking idiot.

Why is he/she an idiot? I've had several dogs over the years and only one of them killed animals. (It was a mutt of various breeds and killed some squirrels and birds, super fast dog)

lol, what a fat dog
>> Anonymous
the fatter an animal is, the cuter it gets. the reverse applies to people.
>> Anonymous
how? by sitting on them?

No, the fatter an animal is, the less healthy it is. The same applies to humans.

What kind of dog is it? Some dogs just naturally do this. Tell your neighbors to keep their cats in the house, and supervise your dog when he's outside.

Don't tie him up. It'll just make him miserably bored and more likely to kill anything that comes near him, since tying a dog makes them excessively territorial (many, many dog bites occur from chained dogs). It's also illegal in some areas.

Forgot to add, my own dog has killed some small animals in the yard before. He's a border collie mix. Dogs are predators... there's really nothing overly unusual about this. He's perfectly gentle with my cats, but wild animals that skurry away are fair game to him. If your dog kills a cat, it's the cat's owner's fault for allowing the cat to stray in to your yard. Some breeds don't hunt, but this doesn't mean a tame, well-behaved dog won't.

My basset hound tracks down every animal she can scent and then whimpers because she wants to play with said animal...

Okay? She tracks them because she's a predator. I wasn't implying every dog has the instinct to kill, but many do, and it's not unusual.

the dog in the pic you posted, appears to be a lab or lab mix. So I am assuming your dog is a lab or lab mix as well (since you said it looks like the one in the pic.)

anyways, labs are a hunting dog and naturally have the urges to chase down smaller creatures and kill them.

I have a yellow lab, and she is constantly killing birds, baby birds, bunnies, ground hogs, etc.

I don't like it when she does it, but I don't punish her for it, because it is purely instinctual, and she can't help it.

picture highly related (it is my fatty of a dog)

your dog looks like the dog from mission hill

my dog does that to but mainly with foxes which is good

Kill it and eat it, that will teach it a lesson. make sure you do it in a primal rage too, so you can claim it was purely instinctual as well. PCP probably helps.

Stop feeding it so many marshmallows you sick fuck
