BEST. INFESTATION. EVER. TTM
My house is infested with some weird geckos. There would be two or three visible in any room of my house during the night.

And I couldn't be happier.

Last year, my house had a serious roach problem (I'm not going to lie, it was bad). I didn't want to call in the pest exterminators, as I have asthma, and gaseous poisons + asthma... you join the dots. But anyway, it was quite bad, and I was in despair about it.

Nature to the rescue. One day about eight months ago I got out of my car to come inside and I felt something fall onto my shoe. A small, brown gecko the length of a biro lid. I tried shaking him off but he didn't want to move. So I thought, 'Fine. Have it your way.' and walked inside. Once indoors, he promptly sprinted under the couch and was gone.

Turns out he and his kind eat roaches.

Since the winter started (southern hemisphere here), I have seen all of two cockroaches in my house. Not even legs or wings are left behind, the geckos eat everything. But they leave anything else, such as the food in my cupboard, out of their diet.

So here I am, running a veritable Gecko hotel. The little guys are awesome, they sit on the outside of windows and run along sometimes so you can see their feet gripping the glass.

So, ITT: Geckos.

So do you plan to keep any captive? Stepping on one of these guys would suck enormously.

Fortunately they seem content to stick to the walls and ceiling. I haven't had any incidents, aside from shutting the door on one of their tails (which he shed).

I felt bad :'(

But getting back to the question, I don't really need to keep any captive. They don't really seem to leave the house so in a way they already are.

Well, you could always raise them and sell them to people who would like a wicked alternative to roach exterminators You'd be helping the geckos and the people.

Don't do this. House Geckos aren't native to this continent and they put pressure on native wildlife, whether you see it or not. You don't need to contribute to the already widespread problem.

Also living in a house infested with barking geckos.

Bonus: no red backs anymore.

Drawback: The bastards shit everywhere, it's worse than mouse droppings, they get into everything and if you let the droppings build up, asthma symptoms may be induced. Two simple ways of getting rid of them:

1. The dramatic way. Let off roach bombs.

2. Turn off the lights outside. No lights, no insects, they starve.

Trust me: the novelty of these dirty noisy shitting little fuckers will wear off very, very quickly.

The dots I joined were the roaches and your asthma.

I'd like to have geckos running loose in my den, but the cats would get 'em
