I tried to save a bird today...I couldn't save him/her.
I found him on the starway in my buiding, and I brought him/her pieces of bread and water and a basket so he could go if it got cold...I went to see him every 10 mins...then, after dinner I went back and I found him dead 4 steps lower from the original step I found him...he must have flown and felt again...

I wish I could had saved him

A blue tit flew against my window a month ago. It went into a shock and looked like it was panting. It strungled for survival for 4-5 hourse, then started to look better, but the next mornign I found it dead. Well, I don't think there was much to do.

Wild birds are delicate things, and if one is wounded it can be difficult for a non-professional to tell. Don't feel bad; assuming it's a non-predatory and non-endangered species, there's little they would have done for it at a vet or animal shelter.. You did what anyone could be expected to do in that situation, and what matters is you tried.
