basking shark Anonymous
Apparently I've been living in a burrow till now because today is the first time I hear of these guys.

ITT animals you just found out about :/

Insert any newly found insect species.
Basking sharks have been around for a while they're nothing new.

That's what I meant. Species that were known for a long time yet you just found out about.
It was just sort of shocking to me to find out about basking sharks. You hear about the whale shark all the time but the second in line as largest shark gets no attention. Well, at least I haven't seen any documentaries.

I knew they existed, just not their english name. In german they are called "Riesenhai", which equates to "Giant Shark"...
What i didn't know, was that they exist in European waters, and so close to the shore! Only when i actually saw them, on the coast of cornwall. We were just hiking around Land's end, when we came to a wildlife observatory, and people were looing through binoculars down to the sea.
I was like "excuse me, what r u doin?"
-"whatching sharks"
-"yea right"
And they were there, just a foot under water, fins sticking out. A canoe was paddling between them...

why must delicious cake be located within certain doom?

cuz thats what it is!

The question isn't why must delicious cake be located within certain doom, but are you a bad enough dude to rescue delicious cake?

are you a bad enough dude to not save cake is the real question

its a non-aggressive shark that doesn't even have teeth.
even if it swallows you it can't be THAT hard to get out. its not like it can lock its jaw shut.

Hmm... I thought it looked either awfully dead or awfully tranquilized. Regardless, that's a really cure rat. Looks sort of like a slender squirrel.

I've been swallowed by much uglier things
