Hello,

I was recently looking at a well-behaved dog sitting in the passenger seat of a car, looking out the window just like a real little boy, and it got me wondering.

I'm not a dog owner so I don't know, but has anyone ever had a problem with the dog just...jumping out? Any good stories?

I've had two of my family's dogs jump out of the back of a truck before. (both times this happened the truck wasn't going over 10mph) First time was when my golden retriever mix decided "OMG! DEER!!!!" and she jumped out and tried to go after it.

Second time was when we were taking my lab and some of her puppies to the park for the first time. Momma dog got so excited to be there she jumped out. It had been awhile since she'd gotten to play fetch. Thankfully none of the puppies decided to follow her lead and just sat there like "What the fuck mom!?"

Thankfully both dogs learned their lesson after their first try.

One time I was taking my dog to the nature reserve for a walk, and on my way there my car decided to just splutter out and die. My dog flipped and jumped out of the car for some reason, but he just went to the side of the road and sat and waited for me. wtf.

When I used to work at PetSmart, a man ran in with his jack russel terrier in his arms. The dog was scratched up and a looked a little frightened. The man said he was on a way to a grooming appointment and he had the window down so the dog could stick her head out, when he suddenly heard her fall out the window. He hadn't been driving very fast but he was still worried.

The dog ended up fine, with no major injuries, just a few scratches. But I bet her owner learned that you should never trust a dog to understand physics.
