let's play a little game.

Here are the rules:

1. First person posts image of young animal/offspring of a particular species/genus/family etc.

2. Others have to guess what its parents would look like by answering with pics of the corresponding adult animal.

3. Only animals are allowed, but there are no restrictions in terms of animal species.

4. Hints regarding species are allowed, even though I won't give any of them in this post.

The giant diving beetle.

That larva is pretty much the only insect here in Finland which looks at least somewhat threatening. It can be 50mm/2" long.

it's a water tiger, they eat tadpoles, our frog pond's full of em. They turn into fun beetles though.
