my cat (pic related) did the most amazing thing while i was at work today. she threw up in the litter box instead of on the carpet! i've never heard of a cat doing that before. i was quite impressed. anyone have any similar experiences?

No. My cat likes to throw up over the side of the staircase so it drips all the way down the wall.

My cat had the annoying tendency to, when you noticed he was about to hack something up, and you picked him up and set him on tiled floor, he would hobble himself back to the carpet before he hacked anything up.

OP here, my mom's cat lives outside and she likes to throw up on the wicker furniture on the porch, so it gets in the cracks and is impossible to clean. she especially seems to prefer this in winter, when it can freeze there for months. (pic is her)

When my cat begins to barf I throw her in the litterbox and she throws up in there. Maybe if I do it enough it'll be like barf box training.

You cat was probably taking a shit when it threw up though.

My cat sleeps with me and tends to have her hairballs in the morning. She's polite enough to jump off the bed to do so.

cats can barf voluntarily so... anywhere your cat spills dinner is most likely where it chooses to. You're lucky yours used the litter box. Mine uses the kitchen floor. Yuck.

Lucky. If my cat has to throw up when she's in bed with me, she does it right where I'll step down when I get out of it. ...yes, I am>>185572

It seems like my cat is just doing her own thing and then all of a sudden the need to barf strikes her. She does it wherever she happens to be and moving her is impossible if she's on carpet or cloth; she digs her nails in and wont be budged. One time I had to catch the barf in a cup because she was about to throw up on my homework. =/

My first cat would always vomit when we would bring him to the Vet. It was always funny cause we would hear him dry heaving in the back of the van. Awww I miss him. ;_;

MY CAT DID THAT ONCE!!! but then she just started to puke everywhere, maybe she was trying to do
pi pi or poop and I don't know, coincidence maybe.....

Sounds like an intestinal parasite or a digestive problem. New food? Best to take her to a vet, at least to make sure that she isn't dehydrated. My cat had a tummy virus a while back, a couple of antibiotic pills from the doc fixed her up.

I didn't take pictures of the barf cup, but I made sure to wave it my my boyfriend's brother's face before disposing of it.

Do cats always barf after eating grass? My kitty eats grass sometimes but I've only ever seen her throw up twice; both times after eating a clump of cat hair off the ground. O_o

They often eat it for the very purpose of throwing up. They might do it because they are feeling ill and need to vomit or maybe because they have a particularly troublesome hairball that won't come up. It's also just good for them in general, it contains some vitamins and shit they need.
