Ok /an/. So there I was playing TF2 waiting for the next map to load when I see a bug crawl out between the frame and the LCD onto my screen. It was a june bug. My friend google can't find any info on this, but are these things known for chewing any electrical components / wiring or whatnot?

They are fairly tiny, probably 1/5th the size of finger nail, probably smaller. I doubt that there are a lot of them since I've only seen 1 other one crawling around a few weeks ago. This is a new 24" screen that I bought so is there anything I can do to keep them away, right now I'm just going to use some compressed air in my LCD. How long do these things live for?

Well I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago only alot worse. I had been outside with my laptop for the entire day and about a week later started seeing these tiny bugs crawling on my screen. So i'd scoop them up bring them outside, This went on for about two days and than it got crazy. One morning I noticed these really fine tiny white bugs everywhere. So I took the laptop back outside opened it up and blew all that shit out. It seemed to do the trick and being an insect nerd I felt pretty bad, but I didn't want these guys going to town on my circuits.

OP here.

So by your answer I take it they don't eat electrical equipment? Are they attracted to heat / radiation? Would like some more insight on this if anyone knows.

well I mean you can never be sure, if I let them stay in there for a month or so who knows what they would have gotten into.
As for them being attracted to heat radiation I would have to say no. Like moths, these guys seemed to be attracted to bright light, so they would usually come out when I was in the dark and had my laptop on. But I would see them periododically during the day.
I didn't try this, I can't kill any living thing, BUT, I did read that if you get a jumbo ziploc bag and put your monitor in there for a few days that should kill them. I also read having a sock or and old shirt soaked in insectecide would do the trick, but I am not sure if that would damage the screen.
Either way, ignoring the problem won't help and it can only get worse.
