we had a problem with voles in our garden when I was a little kid. I thought the word sounded ugly so I figured they were ugly, and sometimes I'd talk to my friends about ugly voles (my friends thought I was retarded and couldn't say "moles").

Now I can see how cute they are, and I'm sad my dad killed them ;-;

i have/had these things in my backyard. either that or they were shrews.
we had wooden planks on our grass, leading to the pool and one day i kept seeing these two little fuzzy gray things chasing each other in circles. tried getting closer but they darted back under the wood.
no one my dog always went batshit insane whenever she was outside, always trying to get under the wood.

voles were my cat's favorite rodent to harvest, though it wouldn't pass up the chance to snack on a field mouse now and then

once I was on a nature learning hike thing, and we got owl pellets to take apart, and mine had vole remains in it.
I think I still have it somewhere.

I think I saw a vole, but I live in Ohio, it was sleeping inside a wooden box we have at work to keep the rain off of the traffic counters. It was about 150% the size of the one pictured, and I thought it was a muskrat, since I've never seen a muskrat...
