it's ant season D: Anonymous
So it's that time of year again.

What do you use to get rid of these pests, /an/onymous? I've used certain brands of ant spray before that don't seem to do anything but give them a friendly shower while they continue on their merry way.

Are bait traps (that supposedly poison the queen and eliminate the colony... but I'm skeptical) a good idea to put out early before they become a swarming zergfest?

If you live in the south and know what grits is, get some uncooked grits and spread it over the top of the ant hill. They'll eat it and explode and stuff. And by explode I mean they'll feed their queen and she'll get full and it'll expand and kill her.

Get a new pet.

Problem is, these guys'll fuck up your furnature real bad. REAL bad.

But seriously, ants are tough. They pretty much just build up an immunity to any poison if it doesn't kill all of them. They're supposed to not like chili powder, but they just get immune to that too.

I use this to get rid of ants. If i see the ant when i don't have my tools, i just press my finger down on it and it goes CRUNCH.

Yeah, thing about ants is, the animal -- unseen as it may be -- is not the ant itself but rather the entire colony.

I use bait traps, and they work somehow. I don't think it will kill the queen, since I've never ever been able to get rid of the entire colonyt. However, I just recenlty had this little bastards all over my house and I decided to try to kill them. I used various of poisons, and finally bait traps. I guess they have worked, since there's only a few a day wondering around my kitchen instead of thousands.

I have a hippie friend who was really pissed at them, and went into the kitchen and said "ALLRIGHT ANTS, I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU, BUT YOU'RE EATING MY FOOD. SO GTFO OR I'M SPRAYING POISON TOMORROW" and they went away.

I've had luck the past 2 years with spray called TAT. The TAT ant baits seem to be working pretty well. They're already a year old and I haven't seen nearly as many ants this season as I had by this time last year. (The huge amount of rain probably is a factor too.) I'm in the US, so I dunno of the Euros have this.
I've also heard that honey and Epsom salt works as a good bait (honey=lure, salt=time released poison or something to that effect), but I've yet to try it.

I just use salt and vinegar, because im a cheap bastard and the salt and vinegar cant poison me if i come home drunk and pass out were i put it
