1) depends on the dog. though most will go oh its a kitten and not bother it. Some will go oh a new friend i wana play and play a bit rough with it. So keep an eye on them together and dont give all your attention to the kitten.
2) The only thing with the kitten you really need to do to train it is where not to sharpen its claws and litter box. 'Cus they like to use couches and beds and other things like that to do it. Get it a scratching post preferably one with a toy on it so it can play with it too. you will have to get after the kitten when it scratches where it shouldn't. Also litter box training is a must. Especially for males. They like to mark their territory. Wen you see the kitten about to sqat to pee or poop. quickly pick it up and carry it to the litter box. also about 4 or so times a day just put it in the litter box and keep it there for a bit some times waiting for it to go. so it will know where the litter box is so they dont go potty on the floors any more. 3) the catching mice thing is tricky. My cat wouldnt bother out birds or mice or even the hampsters. Even when they escaped all the cat did was corner it and wait for us to take care of it. A lot of cats will play with the mice. I havent had a cat bring in a dead mouse or anything like that ever. Some might even go out of their way to catch one. But i have had no experiance with this. I dont like the though of any animal dying. >.<
