hey /an/
A few years ago, some stray cats found lodging in our backyard and made a small community there. We just fed them leftover food scraps and let them stay, as they kept rats away. We didn't even bother naming them.

Recently, one of the cats gave birth to three female kittens. Some time later, the kittens' mother threw away her kittens, despite having sufficient food and shelter in our backyard. She brought one to the road wher it got killed, while she left one under our car. Another one wound up at a neighbor's house, all a considerable distance from where the cats live.

What do you think could be the reason?

in b4 "neuter your cats, fag". We don't have a cat overpopulation problem in our area.

Lived here for 20 years and it's never happened.

the cat chooses the weaker of the kittens and leave them so they can die, thus the chances of the stronger/healthier kittens of survival are higher

i think the fact that you just have a bunch of stray cats living in your backyard shows you have some overpopulation problems.
