Hey /an/
I just got Degus!
(bad pic I know)
what's the best bedding for them? the girl I got them from has been using Pine, and I know they're not supposed to have that. I did my homework and got the right food and everything, but the only thing I've really found about bedding is what not to use. I just threw some shredded paper in there until I can get to a petstore tomorrow, so what do you suggest?

Wow those things are cute, wouldn't shredded newspaper work?

eco-earth works as good substrate for most herps and inverts I've had... but I'm not sure if their are any disadvantages if you used it with a rodent...

i'd go with carefresh

Any paper pulp bedding (like Carefresh), or Aspen wood should be fine.

Pine, cedar, corn, etc. beddings are the ones you have to watch out for.

I had two of them for a few years. All we ever used to give them was shredded newspaper. Throw in a few of the cardboard tubes from toilet paper rolls and they should be quite content.
