What the hell did it eat? I'm guessing something along the lines of a wolverine.

no she didn't... that's a perfect meal. she ate it, curled up somewhere comfortable, and digested for a month..

Look at the snake's face, and tell me that's not skin separating from flesh.

All the places I've seen that picture have file names/titles like "snake eats sheep"
>> Anonymous
the file name says 'ewe' in it, so it probably ate a sheep. I believe those are hooves sticking out its' mouth

That's what it looks like, but knowing how insanely flexible a snake skull is, it may be nothing out of the ordinary for the snake, i.e. he'll get better once he swallows properly.

That's not skin separatng from flesh. Whatever its eating is still poking out of its mouth though.

Actually I think thats the two halves of his bottom jaw still separated from swallowing.

Anybody else noticed the rope around the snake's throat?

maybe they're trying to prevent the snake from completely swallowing the sheep

That's a sad pic, but that's also the most stupid snake I've seen.

there's a picture floating around of a snake that tried to swallow an adult alligator and split itself in half (vertically). Now that was a dumb snake.

There was a documentary about that picture on TV a week ago, scientists were arguing/trying to find out how it happened, putting reconstruction pictures about how it might have been situated, and showing that with the way the 'gator's legs are positioned that there's no way that it clawed its way out etc. They fed a baby gator to a snake to see if it could even digest the gator's tough hide, and it could. Teeth, armor-like skin, everything was digested.

They seemed to conclude that another alligator had caused the injury to the snake, also that the particular alligator that the snake ate was previously injured, hence the lack of resistance.
In the end they said it must've been due to two alligators fighting, the snake picked one off and the other that was still in the area at some point came back and since the snake couldn't move with its heavy load, suffered the fate you see in the picture.

I think with a big enough meal, some of these large boids have their skin tear as it goes down. It was in some nature documentary.

>>baby gator

Well DUH! Baby gators don't have properly developed scutes. Obviously it's going to be easier to digest.
