What does /an/ think of Prop 2? And more importantly, what are the chances of it actually passing?

my agriculture major friends say 'no'

chances are grimly low. i believe nothing short of violent abortion clinic-style bombings of slaughterhouses nationwide would generate enough public attention for any type of real changes to be made to that system

Prop 2 sells itself. Just look at that fucking title. The majority of CA is going to vote yes.

On a side note, I got a pamphlet from the latino voters league, and on one of the props it says:

Proposition 2: Caging of Farm Animals, Vote No

Those sneaky bastards, they made it sound like voting yes meant they WILL cage the animals, I lol'd.

As to whether it's good or not, well you have to weigh the real world impact on the CA economy versus your self-righteous morals.

I think it should pass, but I believe right now is not a good moment for that law. Should do it when the economy is good enough to take a hit like this.

>chances are grimly low

>72% Yes, 10% No, 17% still not certain. Support for the proposition is strong among all demographic groups and in all regions of the state.
>A Field Poll released on 10/31/2008 shows that "there has been very little change in voters' initial support for Prop 2." This latest Field Poll found that 60% of likely California voters polled said they would vote "yes", 27% said "no", and 13% were undecided.

It's a referendum, the proposition will go before voters. Every voter will decide right then and there. This has nothing to do with generating public attention. It's already on the ballot, all you need is people to look at the proposition and decide arbritrarily that they like animals and vote yes.
