Sup /an/imaniacs,

I recently bought two crayfish (Pinchy and Claude, GET IT?!?!?!?/?) and for the most part, they seem to be doing quite well. They both moulted within the past week and are very active, so I decided to put in a few feeders because I've read they enjoy the occasional fish. Lo and behold, they've shown absolutely no interest in the feeders and instead continue to eat the spirulina disks immediately. Do I have stupid crayfish? Or is it just possible that they don't like fish?

Thanks guys

Excuse the horrific cellphone picture, it's Pinchy

Make sure you put a tight lid on their tank. My last crayfish got out and killed himself. I miss that little guy.

i would boil and eat those little critters

It depends... we used to have some crayfish where I work, and they paid little attention to the live fish. However, there were also times they would grab and eat the minnows. What are you primarily feeding them?

Just a few feeder goldfish.

I don't know a whole lot about crayfish, but possibly they're threatened by the goldfish, which might appear too large to tackle to them. Try something smaller, like feeder guppies, or if you're willing to cash out a few more cents. Take the goldfish back, though - if they survive, they'll get quite large, and also produce quite a bit of waste. (Which could kill your crayfish.)

>or if you're willing to cash out a few more cents

Forgot to finish this sentence. I meant to add, ". . . or if you're willing to cash out a few more cents, neon tetras."

very true. I wouldn't mess with goldfish if they're not being eaten immediately. If they're eating the proper pellets, though, I figure that should be enough.

Scavengers. They'll kill and eat little fish opportunistically but they're not adapted for capturing and killing prey, so they generally don't bother trying.

kill the goldfish, and put it back in the tank

Please tell me you're not going to feed them rissotto.

...If so, PICS!

You BOUGHT crayfish?! Back in school my friends and I used to go to the nearby creek at lunch and catch these things by the bucket full. In less than an hour, two or three of us could totally fill a 4L pail if we were determined. Could of made money selling them to chumps.. tho the lolz had playing tennis with them was priceless.
