Can someone tell me why ferrets are banned in California? Were allowed to have Rats, Rabbits and mice but not Ferrets? I don't get it.

mainly because california smells BUT also because they are not native to california and there was a massive ban on keeping them domesticly EXCEPT nuetered male ferrets. it has something to do with fish as well (i think)

CAlifornia Fish and game are afriad that, if the ferrets got lose they would eat all the "rare and exotic" eggs of birds out here. Which is completely bullshit cuz the ferret is domesticated and if they got out they would probably just get hit by a car or something.

Lets not forget Dude that keeping wildlife, um... an amphibious rodent, for... um, ya know domestic... within the city... that ain't legal either.

They are banned, but you're a fool if you think you can't get them here.

I know plenty of people in California with ferrets.

Just quakers, or other parrots too? If it's just quakers that's really fucked up...

Because everything is banned in California. Nunchaku are banned in California. The answer to that is just as mysterious.

Ferrets != Amphibious
Ferrets != Rodents

Because California is retarded?

I think you have ferrets confused with nutria rats. Here in Louisiana, they're a problem. Also in Louisiana, the only weapon that is illegal is a switchblade. I've looked it up. There's a statute that permits possession of a ROCKET LAUNCHER, but it's made very clear that switchblades are not legal.

He's referring to movie Big Lebowski with that line.

The story I heard went like this - They were allowed, things were happy and fine, then some politician or his son got nipped by one and suddenly 'banbanban!'. While they are illegal, all the pet stores still stock things for ferrets, it seems. So the black market import is booming ;)
