If you want to bring them together, get a kitten pen for the incomer. Feed them in the same room. Let the free one in the same room as the kitten pen, let it sniff the new cat. It's probably good to put some of the scent of the newcomer over the other cat's stuff as well - not too much.
When you've done this for a while, and you want to bring them together, take the incomer out of the pen and feed them together. See how it goes. You might want to pen the incomer again for a couple of times. If they hit it off, then great.
You may still get issues - I always think the best way is to let them resolve the issues rather than keep them seperate.
Peanut isn't a kitty anymore, so it could be, if you're lucky, that she'll adopt the new cat.
