Need to stop dogs fighting. Anonymous
Hey, I have two Staffidgebull terriers and recently they have been fighting. They are both bitches, 1 is 5 years old and the other is 2 years old. The oldest is a very large bitch and is about 6 pounds heavier than the average male and has killed a dog before. The other is quite small and underweight. The oldest is usually very placid and calm and likes to sit on my lap while the other is very fiesty and just jumps about all the time trying to bite stuff playfully. Now the thing is, they argue over toys a lot and then this leads into a fight where we have to seperate it or the smallest will get killed. So what is the best thing me and my family can do to stop this fighting all the time as it usually happens only when we are in the room.

Staffidgebull. Weird that it only happens when you are in the room. That makes me think that it might be a behaviour they've acquired because it gets attention from you, in which case the best thing to do would be to ignore it completely, just look away. If you think that doing so might put them at real risk of hurting each other, then perhaps a very firm and quick separation of the dogs, THEN ignore them.

so, let's get this straight -- you own dogs that were bred for fighting, and you're wanting to stop them from... ummm... fighting?

jeebus, just do the world (or, at the very least, your neighbors and their pets) a favor and gas 'em already.

Staffies weren't bred for fighting other dogs. In fact they're known for NOT being agressive towards other dogs.

do your research, fucktard. they were originally bred for bull and bear baiting, and then for dogfighting -- therefore they are an aggressive breed.

There's A LOT of other dogs that were originally bred for fighting. Includes yorkies and other shit dogs everyone loves.

If it only happens when you are in the room it could be that they are posessive and/or protective of you. My aunt has a whippet who is agressive towards strange dogs and one of her shelties but only when she is around. He has lots of other bad behaviors around her that get him attention, but when I'm looking after him he behaves for me. All I can think of is either like>>99553said, quickly seperate them then ignore them.

I don't know, you could maybe work with them on obedience. You and another family member could each work with one of the dogs, so they might become less posessive and jealous, since they'd each bond more to the person working with them. If that's even the issue. If nothing works you might just have to keep them seperated.

get a fucking cat and get rid of the dogs.

Get rid of yourself with a razorblade and a nice, warm, bath, catfag.

It's not because they are Staffs, it's because they are both bitches. It's not unusual that they don't get along.

I don't need to research basic facts, I KNOW them. I have also known a lot of Staffies, they're very popular in this country, and for good reason . I know several that live as pets, with other Staffies. Of course they were originally bred for bull baiting, hence the name. That was a few hundred years ago. Since then, they have been bred as pets. You could use the same ignorant argument against almost any breed, if you go back far enough in their history.
If you'd ever known a Staffie, or knew anything about them, you'd know that they are anything but aggressive today. Since you don't, and you haven't, I suppose you can't be expected to. In which case you should probably shut the fuck up.

"I don't need to research basic facts, I KNOW them."
(i can magically change my dog's ancestry by wishful thinking and poor arguments)

"I have also known a lot of Staffies, they're very popular in this country, and for good reason."
(dogfighting)

"I know several that live as pets, with other Staffies."
(the rest are fighting dogs whose owners deserve to die in a fire)

i could go on, but you get the point. you pit-tards really are deluded -- or, at the very least, you put up a good front of being so. it wouldn't be nearly so annoying if you'd just fess up to the fact that owning a lab, a poodle, a basset hound, or a beagle would be a threat to your masculinity (and wouldn't do nearly so well at the local dogfight).

Do you have any experience of this breed AT ALL? Or are you just regurgitating paranoid crap that you've picked up from too much internet time? There's no need to answer that, it's already painfully obviously the latter.
I would try to educate you, but it's clear that your just a troll and incapable of seeing anything other than your narrow and secondhand view.

Not>>99811but a dog owner who has had TWO dogs viciously attacked by two separate pitbulls. I also have been attacked out of the blue by one, and been around another pitbull who tried to attack a female, menstruating, friend of mine.

No bullshit, pitbulls are evil fucking animals, and should be put down. At least they're now illegal in the city I live in. Fucking Hell, even OP's pitbull is vicious, but he still tries to defend the nasty thing. Pitfag, get your head out of your ass and put it down before it kills your other dog, and possibly you too.

Pitbulls, for the most part, are very friendly dogs. I've had several friends who have had them, and they've been nothing but friendly. Some are aggresive toward other dogs, but I've never met one aggresive towards people.

Should every Middle Eastern be shot because a few crashed a plane into a building? No. All pitbulls shouldn't be shot because one bit you.

Shar-Pei's are far more aggresive dogs. I've never met a friendly one towards any form of life.

Just so you know, pitbulls aren't more likely to attack menstruating women.

This is true. Seriously, a dog being 'aggressive' to another dog is not this huge deal per se, it's not a habit bred out of them very often. It's just annoying to the owners and has no effect on how they act towards people, anymore than a dog who hates cats is more likely to bite a person. People just shit their pants because they're taught pitbulls are monsterous beasts.

Also Terriers in general are pissy fuckers when they get riled up. You just happen to have a basic female/female aggression issue with big dogs.
>> Anonymous
dogs that are the same gender dont usualy get along as well as dogs of different genders. As for the toys dont leave them around the house all willy nilly. Let them know that they are YOUR toys and you will give them to them when you want not vice versa. When they fight dont freak out just firmly and calmly make them stop. Be loud if It is a particularily bad fight but still remain calm. You have to be the alpha dog not them.

here's an idea: hysterectomy
get one of em fixed. no more problems

Those who say pitbulls are bred human aggresive, you're a moron. The dogs are bred to be non human aggresive so when the owner is fighting them, the dog will not attack the owner afterwards. And that comes from a ASPCA officer.

If they're fighting over toys, then make sure there are no toys in the room if they're together. What's so hard about that?

If you leave the house and want to leave them toys, make sure that they are separated from each other. If they have a tendency to fight they shouldn't be left alone together anyway, or you might come home to a dead dog.

If the older one is guarding your attention (not allowing the younger dog near when she is sitting in your lap etc), then you need to work on it a bit more.

I highly recommend the book "Mine!" by Jean Donaldson. It has a lot of good info for working with dogs that have resource guarding issues.

I agree with this. Since your dogs are seemingly mostly doing it while you're in the room, it sounds like the older one is trying to place herself very very rigidly in the pack structure.

And also,>>99548"The oldest is a very large bitch and is about 6 pounds heavier than the average male and has killed a dog before.....The oldest is usually very placid and calm..."

That makes no sense to me. If the older one has already killed another dog before, then your dog is vicious according to law. Most counties would require your dog to be put down, if only to be tested for rabies.

Lay some pack lines, and don't leave them alone together.
