Well, obviously your brother is inept at caring for a cat and it's a no-brainer that he should never watch your pets again. On the subject of hookworm, my kitten didn't have it when I picked her up off the side of the road, but she did have some other mean nasties in her system. Give the kitten lots of love and stay by it constantly. If you have the chance, go out to the pet store and buy it some really quality wet food, since that will be easier to eat than dry food. I recommend Natural Balance or Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul. Both are high quality wet cat foods and my kitten goes nuts when I open a can of it. In before some other anon argues with my choices. I hope your kitten gets better. Mine survived being riddled with fleas and ear mites, so hopefully yours is just as resilient.
