Trollchan
/a/, I come to you in need of help.

You see, this morning, my mother and I found a small kitten near our garbage cans. She was covered in ants, and a fairly pathetic sight. While her eyes are open, and she's alert, she is shaking ALOT, will not drink (no matter if we put our finger to her mouth with milk or not) and is shaking.

Is she just scared of her new environment? Or is their something worse?

Please, I want to help her live.

(Pic only slightly related, as she is a black kitten as well. If she makes it, I'll take a picture of her just for 4chan--and I will be asking for a name.)

It depends how young she is. Small kittens aren't supposed to drink ordinary milk, it gives em diarrhea. Only mother's milk.
The shaking part is rather normal imo. Try to keep her warm. Don't know about the feeding part tho. Maybe milk will do also, but im not sure...

Smartass. At least I use a handle.

She's beginning to drink it, I guess she was just scared. I'm really scared of how young she is as well, though. But, if I remember correctly, she's just as big as my Zowie (who is now nine years) when we got her.

I'll give updates as often as there's news. I'm hoping for a purr next.

I finally got that telltale purr.

Here are the pics I promised.

Such a tiny thing. <3
To the vet with her! Gotta clean out any nasty buggers in her system.
She does look a bit young, but she also might be a runt or just underfed.

Aw! I know when my barn cat had kittens(she was feral) we took them to the humane society and they had a nursing mother cat that looked after them. Maybe the vet has a mommy cat or something?

She looks a bit young, but old enough to foster without a lot of trouble. I'd take her to a vet, though, just in case, especially if her ears are still "floppy" (hang down at the tips, means she's way too young to foster)

If she isn't covered in horrible parasites, then just hold her close and cuddle her. Send your mom to get PET milk, they make a few varieties, and a nursing bottle. There are actually "foster kitten kits" that have a bottle, a few nipples,a bottle brush, and some forumla. Follow the instructions! Don't give her cow's milk, as a previous poster said it will make her sick.

Also, try and look around and see if you can locate any other kittens or a cat that appears to be looking for her. The mother may have been transporting them and gotten spooked, or she may have wandered from the nest.

Pic related: My foster, snailkitten, and her "parents", a pair of really fucking old lesbian rats.

Oh shit, I forgot to insult you.

Thanks for helping the kitten, asshole.

So, you are perhaps suggesting that the kitten's mom got scared?

The most important thing for a kitten this age is to make sure it gets food/water.

It's often hard to get kittens that old to suckle, so sometimes you'll need to force feed them. The easiest way to do that is to get a syringe (or your finger will work) to place a small amount of wet food into her mouth. Once it's there they'll generally eat at least most of it even if they're trying not to.

Make sure to keep her in a small, warm area if you aren't supervising her. Small kittens do not produce their own body heat.

Keep wet food and water available to her at all times in case she decides to eat or drink on her own.

She probably has parasites (worms + fleas) so she ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to go to the vet. They can give her some capstar/frontline depending on how big she actually is. However, it is imperative for her health to get that taken care of ASAP, since those kind of parasites can easily kill her. Fleas will cause anemia, and other parasites will cause bad diarrhea that can dehydrate her.

Don't feed her cow's milk. Just feed the wet kitten food + give her access to water.

If she isn't going to the bathroom by herself you'll need to potty her. Just get a towel and gently rub her genital area.

I've seen kittens far worse off make it alright. Just be sure to take her to the vet ASAP. I work at an animal shelter and foster kittens all year round, and I just can't stress enough how important a vet check is.

Another update.

Well, it turns out my new little rescue is three things.

1)A tad on the skinny side

2)A total attention whore (I leave her in her box and she cries like I'm leaving her forever)

and

3)A total attention whore who likes to wake me up by using her tiny, full set of sharp little teeth on my fingers.

She's definitely gonna be a little terror, but right now she's a ball of energy. She even tore a part of meat from a sandwich I was eating and ate it without any problem. (And then tried to eat my finger again.)

x3 the little shit. Now I just need to name her.

is it a boy or girl?

Could be a feminine guy or a masculine girl. Wondering that myself.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!"

Thus, I vote for Jabber. Maybe Woky."

I wholeheartedly agree.

I add my vote for Jabberwocky also.
Call it "wocky" for short, or "Jabber"
good name.

Name it "fluffer". Because it likes to, you know, nibble.

My girlfriend is like that.
Shes pathetic, scared, usualy covered with ants, scared of me, shakes uncontrollably, and hates it when i shove things in her mouth.

well at first she does.

But, usually her eyes aren't open.

I make her sleep near the garbage cans too!

I'm sure you know this but also make sure to keep her far away from your other cat so it doesn't get sick too.
She is really little. I'd definately stick with the PET or whatever kind of kitten formula, and agree with the vet thing.
Adorable little critter. I like the pic with the Midna hat, why not name her that?

Probably just freaked out from being covered in ants then brought into a strange person's house. Be gentle and give it time.

Dear OP, you seem to keep ignoring the concern of Milk, VET, Disease and Parasites. I know it's cute for young girls to act stupid on purpose, but you're going to have to get serious.

Get the cat checked out by someone who knows better, *THEN* decide on a name. Man talk about some screwed up priorities..
