I'm getting a northern flying squirrel as a pet. Anyone have experience with the fuckers? Pic unrelated.

Whoa. Slow down guys, I don't think I can take in all this helpful information at once.

We had two flying squirrels when I was younger. I don't know that they were northern flying squirrels but they were caught when my uncle cut down a tree and they were injured in NY. Nursed them back to health and kept them as pets.

The female was quite friendly and liked to be handled, the male bit and well, didn't. I was quite young at the time so I can't really tell you all that much about it

Actually, I can tell you one thing. They're social animals, get two or more or none. Its not going to be happy without another squirrel around.

I've heard that, but I figure if I spend enough time with it, it should be alright. Dogs are social creatures too, and they seem to do alright by themselves.

why the fuck would you get an animal or even say you are going to get the said animal without knowing how to take care of it in the first place? especially when its an exotic animal.

dumbass

I almost wrote the same thing, and then I actually READ what he was asking for. He's not asking for care information, he's asking for anecdotes from people who have owned them. Those are two totally different things, and it's actually GOOD that he's giving enough of a fuck to ask what other people thought of their experience.

PROTIP: Flying squirrels are not any more exotic than skunks, racoons, or ferrets. Dumbass.

Are you fucking serious?

For Christ's sake, TIGERS DO NOT LIVE IN AFRICA, THEY LIVE IN ASIA. Welcome to 5th grade geography, fucktard.

Welcome to /an/, where tigers live in Africa, dolphins lay eggs and dinosaurs aren't animals.

Except that the part about dolphins is completely true, and it's kind of shocking how many people remain ignorant to this fact.
