Greetings, /an/onymous.

My cat is missing. The last time I saw her was around 6, before I ate dinner. I still live at home, so my douche of a father decided it would be a fucking good idea to leave the back door open when he goes out to talk on his cell phone. I suspect my cat got out; she's an indoor cat.

I looked all around the house for her tonight, and I'm pretty sure she's not here. (My house is pretty big, but I have little brothers, so it's very messy too. She might be hiding somewhere in the clutter, but I couldn't find her.) I'm hoping she'd just hiding somewhere, but I've called her and rattled her toys and opened treats and poured food in her bowl and she won't come. I haven't heard her or seen her for about eight hours.

That being said, I am assuming she is not in the house. Upon this assumption, I looked for her outside as well. Couldn't find her. I left treats out on the front porch. She DOES have a collar with a bell and a tag with her name and my phone number on it. I am not sure if she's microchipped (I may have to call her foster family for that info, since I got her from an adoption agency.) Is there anything else I can try?

She is, as I've said before, an indoor cat. She's about 8 months old, female (SPAYED.) She's gotten outside a few times before but she hasn't left the yard even, as I've always called her back inside. I'm very worried about cars, though. She's young, always been (as far as I know) an indoor cat, and thus she has no experience.

Tips, advice? Should I wait until morning and see what happens? I'm very worried about her.

have you checked for "free cat" signs next to the road?

i suggest leaving some food outside if you can and let your neighbors know so if they see her they can let you know. i would look for her as much as you can. hopefully she comes back or you find her soon

Good lord, she looks like my (also unusual-looking) cat.

Look in all the closets. Look under all the beds (move stuff if you have to).

Take a can and a spoon or a box of dry food and walk the streets outside calling her and making noise with those items. Doorknock also. If you haven't found her tonight, then start making signs and putting them up.

Thank you for the suggestions. I did check closets, and beds (She likes to hide under them--when I first got her, my dog scared her and she ran under my bed. Poor cat stayed under there for about an hour.)

I left some food out for her, and I'm going out to look for her once more tonight. Hopefully I'll find her, if not, hopefully she'll show up in the morning. (Unfortunately I can't make much noise when I go out there tonight, though--it's past 3 AM.)

She's most likely scared and hiding. There's the possibility she won't answer even if you call so make sure you search the neighbourhood as often as you can to increase the chances you spot her while she comes out of wherever she's hiding - especially in the evening when it's more quiet.
Also, don't forget to put up signs!
Good luck and I hope you find your cat safe and sound.

Good news! I've found her!

I didn't find her when I went out to search but I stayed downstairs for about an hour after that and I heard her meowing softly outside the front door. She looked all right and came inside immediately, so I'm really glad she's not hurt.

Thanks for all the help! (Now on to harass my dick of a father. Honestly, I think he did it on purpose to freak me out.)

Yeah our cats used to get out from time to time, but they always came home within the night. They know where they live, and they most likely don't want to leave the comfort of the house.

Thanks guys.

I just didn't know if she knew how to get back because she'd young. That and cars... (although past midnight there aren't many cars on the roads around here.)

get some jump boots.
find dad's cell phone
stomp on it repeatedly, and leave the remains on his desk, with a small pile of cat poop from the litter box.
