Diatomaceous earth will work - ratite farmers in the US have been using it with great success. It is a fine silica powder made of the millions of tiny skeletons of diatoms. This silica material literally slices the soft parts of insects so they die of dehydration. It does work in the gut. Having said that, it can be hazardous to breathe, so I'd basically be getting a pill from the vet, especially since you are supposed to worm your animals every two or three months.
