Kittens to our surprise Anonymous
Dear /An/onymous
My dad is renovating an old house and today he was going to shred a seiling with an addict above that only contains isolating hay. When they cracked it up they found 4 allmost newborn kittens lying in the hay. They allmost couldnt walk and their eyes wasnt really open but they were meowing. Now that their home is ruined, my dad dont know what to do with these poor kittens. He called me an asked how he should feed them and i said give them milk from a krinkled tissue and leave them near the place of their home so that their mother may find them and they will be ok. Now.. What should he do with the kittens if the mother wont come back? My dad have a male, not castrated cat at his home so i figured, in worse case the kittens could grow up at his place and with atleast one grown up cats company. Im thinking, maybe they can do ok without a mother to learn them how to live a catlife :) I dont think my dads cat will give a shit about these kittens, but atleast the kittens wont grow up in a catfree environment.

What do you think should be done for the kittens? Pls Help <3

(its not the cats in the picture ;))

WHAT THE FUCK

I missed /a/.

if the mother doesn't come back, you need to get a special milk formula for them. Vets should sell it...otherwise they will end up sick without this proper nutrition...

Truth. They'll need the special milk formula every 2 - 3 hours, day and night. They'll also need to be taught how to keep themselves clean. Hand rearing animals is a LOT of work.
By the way, it's an "attic". "Addict" is someone hooked on drugs.

The mom will certainly return, you're going to have to keep watch for her, call the humane society about setting a live trap for her possibly, or if you can catch her yourself.

You will need to get the mom

hehe what a great fail. :D Thanks for the reply everyone

Also, I suggest keeping the male cat far away. Non-castrated male cats will kill the kittens to bring the mother into heat.

:< how about keeping the kittens in a room and maybe when they are older the male cat wont kill them?

yhea just be careful, it should be OK when they're old enough to run away. 6 weeks I'd say. By then they should be weened anyway.
But they do take a lot of hard work so be careful. Their mother is the best thing for them.

Do NOT give them cows milk! It'll give them diarreah which will in turn dehydrate them.
The Mom will probably return and she'll probably move them herself.
If she doesn't return please call your local vetrinarian and ask for advice on how best to take care of the kittens...not a bunch of strangers on a message board. :-)

Take to anti cruelty (no kill) shelter. Duh. It's what they're for... amongst other things.
>> ZOMG
kill the cats, then yourself. kill the kittens as humanely as you can, then kill urself as painfully as possible. L2English

There is no such thing as a "no kill" shelter. They either lie about it, or have some fine print that says they can kill the animals under certain conditions (i.e. there aren't anymore empty cages so the ones that have been there the longest get the axe).

I don't know where you get your information, but there are lots of no-kill shelters. You just have to do your research. A lot of them fill up and won't accept new animals, but they certainly don't kill the ones they have.

Stop quibbling over semantics. The ones put down are for purposes of poor health, disease, or violent behavior to the point of being unable to become adopted. Euthanasia with legit reason =/= killing animal because it's been 2 months in the shelter.

That needs a bunch of "Desu?"s and "DESU!"s put on it. Or perhaps "Mine!". Anything that is short and repetitive. Anyway..

Open your phone book. Find animal shelters. Call them. Ask them if they are capable of fostering kittens, and seek advice on how long you should wait before bringing them in. The mother may return, but if you're doing a bunch of construction on your *attic*, she might not be so keen to return.
