Okay, /an/, I've got a problem. This little shit of a town I live in only has one animal shelter, and that shelter puts down every single slightly injured pet it gets. While that bothers me in general, I have a bigger problem with it this time.

There's a stray, injured cat that lives around my apartment. He's not disabled, nor does he have a broken leg or anything of the sort. His upper lip and nose is hurt really badly, but it's definitely nothing to kill him for. I would try to rescue him myself, but he's too wild for me to catch.

So what do I do, /an/? Hope he recovers on his own? Or do I gamble with the shitty animal shelter we have here and hope they don't kill him? Any alternatives would be of great help.

Does it have a vet? Take it there instead of a shelter.

I've already called the vet and they suggested the shelter, sadly.

Not your pet not your problem.

You claim the injury is not going to kill it but, it is bad enough you want to get care for the cat. Your only option will most likely get the animal killed. What is hard about this decision?

If you had a busted up face that hurt day in and day out, wouldn't you want it treated?

Of course, but look at the options.

According to OP he has the following options:

1) Take it to the shelter, where, according to OP it will be killed.

2) Leave it alone.

Given those two options, it seems like "leave it alone" the best choice!

I would think there is a 3rd option, which is OP could take the cat to the vet and pay for whatever services are required. The question is then, can OP afford that, and if so, does the OP consider his money more important than the cat?

Most people seem to let a majority of their injuries just heal. Not everything warrants a doctor visit.

OP, can you call up a shelter in a nearby town and explain the situation?

Either that or buy a Have A Heart Trap and leave a can of tuna inside it.

>3rd option

OP can't take it to the vet because s/he can't catch it.

I think you just explained exactly how OP can catch the cat in order to take it to the vet.

BTW, it's "Havahart Trap".
