Retarded thing my cat does #57:

She will sleep on single pieces of paper for no goddamn reason. Like if you print out a document and leave it on the table or a magazine or something. She'll lie on it.

WTF?!

It is her subtle way of dominating you and getting your attention. It is the equivalent to a child tugging on your sleeve going "Daddy. Daddy. DADDY. DAADDDDY hey look Dad. Dad. Daaaddy Daaady" for twenty fucking minutes.

cat way is better

But she just does it to sit down and look out a window or something. It's weird. The entire table that she usually stands on, she'll just sit on the paper.

Maybe I'm over thinking.

No worries, Anon, my cat sits on paper, too. You can lay a single piece of paper on the floor and she *will* sit down or lay on it. I'm not sure why she does this, either, but it's cute.

My cat comes ALWAYS on top of my newspaper (I read always on floor) when I try to read it.
It's just a cat thing, I guess.

The cat wants the high ground.

AH! my cat does that too!
It's not just paper, but anything flat and white lying around.
I've always wondered why she does that.

Here she is, sleeping on some framed canvas

Probably because it cools her

I'd say it's the smell.
The fresh smell of white washed blankets seems irrestitable.
Maybe paper smells good too?

Paper smells GREAT! Especially fresh printouts and copies, warm from the lasers and gently perfumed with toner...

I know when ever I change the sheets on my bed my cat sit right in the middle of it. I tell him to move and he just stairs at me. So, I just keep going and he gets covered. He will crawl out later.

both of my cats do this. I think it's pretty standard actually.

Cats want to be where you are, being a part of what you are doing. If I'm at the computer, my cats sit next to, behind, or in front of the monitor. If I'm on the couch, they sit next to, behind, on, or in front of me. If I'm working on something, they sit on or near it. They just like to be part of what's going on.

I'd say it's kinda the same thing as why your cat might start walking around on the keyboard when you're trying to type stuff.

My friend's cat ate paper.
I remember that time she came in and told the teacher her cat ate her homework, she had a letter and everything.
