Hey, /an/.

I'm getting a Siberian Husky soon.

Anything of interest I should know, that general information sites can't tell me?

Almonds are members of the peach family.

A pregnant goldfish is called a twit.

umm... I can think of a few more, how many things of interest do you need?

Hope you're planning to work the dog, they're really high energy dogs but i'm sure you already knew.
Are you getting a puppy or an adult? Make sure you spend a lot of time socializing it around other dogs!

Also huskies are pretty :D

A lot.

>>332435
I already have another dog, so he/she should cope well with being around other dogs.
And I'm getting a puppy.

They have no homing sense and are escape artists.

Enjoy your forever missing husky.

That's okay, I have a giant privacy fence.

So unless s/he can scale a 90 degree 8 foot tall fence, s/he will be fine.

>>332455

Yeah, well, that fence better go 8 feet down, too. Huskies can dig.

FUCK

They need to be brushed at least once a day. No more than two days apart. Especially if you live in a warmer area.

They like to roam, but with your privacy fence you should be fine. Unless you get some crazy one.

also, I'm pretty sure most full grown dogs can scale an 8 foot fence

only way to prevent escape is razor wire and electricity
>> Anonymous
if you want a dog that cant jump over a fence(or really anything else for that matter), get a dachschund or a corgi
>> Anonymous
are you getting it from a responsible breeder, or some hick?
>> Anonymous
Huskies are enthusiastic lovers and very considerate when it comes to their partner.
>> Anonymous
This goes along with high energy, but they love to play. 24/7, they will be ready to play, even into far into adulthood.
>> Anonymous
just remember you can accidentally it, but you have to post about it on 4chan

Responsible breeder.

>>332646
If I accidentally it, I will do just that.

malamutes ftw

>>332461

I found it easier just to put an electrical wire around the fence to keep mine in

very good point about being around other dogs

my uncle lived alone with one for a few years, then when he got married (wife had a dog) the husky thought it was superior and the 2 dogs had to be kept separate

shameless self bump

*gets her notes*
Huskies are very active and energetic, so you need to be active as well or they will get destructive. They tend to want to dominate other dogs, so you must socialize them as much as possible when they are young. Socialize them with people too. They need a good brushing every week, and they LOVE the cold, NOT heat. Go out a lot on winter. Shave them during summer. :D

>shave

What kind of shaving are we talking about here?

the kind that only retards of stupid people recommends

This dog is more like a cat than most cats.

Meaning its extremely independent, and don't be surprised if he runs off when you let him off a leash, not because he doesn't love you but because they are so curious and independent.

They'll be back though, eventually. whoever said they have no sense of home is a fucktard, the worst that will happen is he goes on an exploration trip for a couple hours, as soon as he gets hungry he'll come crawling back.

But OP you should seriously consider getting an Alaskan malamute instead, they look just as beautiful but without all the problems mentioned above, they are on their way to over taking the husky in numbers.
>> Shadow
The brushing can depend since our two huskies are adapted to the Arizona heat, but I highly recommend having a good vacuum to get all the hair up and doing that twice a week. Some like to chew too, and yes, they dig. Locate a good a dog park since they love running. They can play rough so I wouldn't recommend them if you have little kids.

Thanks, weaboo fag.

mine were also hunters, as in they would catch mice, voles, and birds and eat them. if their stomach is gurgling they caught and ate something.

they are very social and very expressive dogs that are aware of a pack dominance hierachy just like wolves. if your not careful they will train you more than you train them.

they are some of the smartest dogs i've ever worked with, and also among the more energetic
