I've owned horses for over 18 years. Your best place to do research, people that own horses. I have a shitload of horse books, magazines, etc. They're collecting dust. Your mother-in-law would be a good place to start. If you do buy her, put her on speed dial. Trust me, as the noob you appear to be, you'll be calling her often. Try making 'horsie friends'. Ride the mare on group trailrides. If you're too afraid to ride the horse, don't fucking buy it. You'll just ruin the animal with your timidness. Then the next person that buys the horse will have a hellion to deal with. Because she's being picked on (lowest man on the totem pole), she might have a huge personality change when suddenly she's alone or top dog. I've had them do that before. They can turn into total assholes. Dangerous assholes. So I'd take her for a trial period before I exchanged cash.
