Animal rights activists who broke into a circus to liberate a rare white tiger changed their minds after seeing it - and took a bunny rabbit instead.

Campaigners from the Swiss faction of the Animal Liberation Front had earlier told Circus Royal director Oliver Skreinig they planned to steal the Siberian tiger and hand him to a zoo.

But when they broke into the circus enclosure and saw the animal they changed their minds - and stole a rabbit instead.

The liberationists then posted pictures of themselves online wearing black army uniforms and balaclavas and holding the rabbit.

Skreinig said: "The pet rabbit was not even in the show, it belonged to our clown's six-year-old daughter."

What kind of a dumbass tries to steal a tiger? They probably didn't have any sort of training or experience with handling tigers and freaked out when they realized what they were getting in to.

The ALF are terrorists as well as retards. They say if you're young and you don't stand for anything, you've got no heart. If you're old and you don't realize what a bunch of idiots these types of people are being, you've got no brain.

I HIGHLY suggest viewing the Penn & Teller's Bullshit episode on animal rights activists.
>> Anonymous
Since animal rights activists insist so much on having equal rights with animals, I think they should be free to hunt and kill like the pests they are. Traitors to humanity don't deserve living.

Animal rights goons used to release hordes of minks in Sweden where minks are not native. The minks quickly died off, after killing each others and many native birds and small animals. Many minks became roadkill as they had no sense of orientation. I can't see what protects animal rights there.

You guys, we must liberate the sharks from the ocean! The ocean is being heartless and cruel by keeping these poor sharks captive. Some might say that this is normal in nature, and that there are other bodies of water who do the same for the sake of the ecosystem, but they just don't realize that they can be enlightened to keep other things like plants. Because the ocean is not cooperating with us, we must take the sharks by force!

Contrary to popular belief, animal activists like that do not believe that minks and whtnot can somehow survive outside the cages. The whole point of releasing them is to cause harm to the fur farmers so as to make their livelihood prohibitively expensive and risky. In other words, there was global terrorism way before the term became horribly passé.

Penn and Teller fucking suck.

And fail for the Swiss.

A) Penn and Teller never did an episode about animal right's activists. They did an episode about PETA (And possibly a little ALF while they were at it) The point of that wasn't to demonstrate that animals don't deserve to be protected, but to prove that PETA are hypocrites.

And if we're going to use the logic "Cause A has mindless nutjobs participating and doing stupid shit in it's name, therefore Cause A isn't valid" then that means the entire human race should plop down on their couches and watch marathons of Friends for the rest of their lives.

Am I the only one who immediately thought of the "Feminist Animal liberators" skit from The Kids in Hall where they break into a research lab to save a baboon, but upon seeing it, "rescue" a pet cat that was happily sitting in a chair?
>> Anonymous
Pffft. Everyone knows the only way to save animals is to have them admit to their sins before dying. What do you mean, they don't have a soul and they can't talk? Kill them anyway. Useless beasts.

Yeah it was hilarious. Especially when he was screaming and crying and saying he'd sue me even though his jaw was broken. Don't worry though. His attempt to sue never got anywhere and he failed miserably.

So having them die and kill off a bunch of other animals was completely worth it?

Sorry, but being stun-gunned is better than being crushed by a vehicle any day.
>> Anonymous

Yes. The usual argument is: "At least they were free for a short while." The aim is to drive the fur farmers out of business. If it means causing damage to the enviroment and to the animals, then so be it.

So, they're against farmers in general, people who work with animals and pay their taxes. And not for helping animals of any kind. Afterall, food comes from the supermarket.

When are they going to "liberate" animals from petshops and vets?
>> Anonymous
>>45220
No, not against farmers in general. And of course you can't be a serious animal rights activist if you're not a vegan. They're against humans killing animals for food or for their fur. Thus far farms have not been on their hitlist, but I guess that's the next step after fur farmers are driven out. Or more likely outsourced to some country where there are some real punishments for the ecoterrorists instead to the farmers trying to defend their livelihood.
I for one eat meat and wear shoes and coats made from leather, but when it comes to fur farming, I really can't see any justification for it.
>> Anonymous
>>45219
Sure, but the minks (or whatever else they "liberate") are thinking "Hey, WTF? It's cold out here! What's that big shaggy animal who's coming up to me? I'll be friends with hi-" *chomp*, or "Where's that guy with the food? I'm hungry! I hope he comes with the food, I'm starting to get really sleep-" *expire*, or "Look, it's one of those big hairless things! Maybe he'll bring me back home! What's that hollow tube he's pointing tow-" *blammo*.

Way to go, animal rights groups!

It's only a matter of time before they "liberate" a group of lab animals carrying a horrifyingly swift and deadly disease, thus wiping out humanity and any other animal suseptible. Bush is so focused on terrorism, well, RID YOUR OWN COUNTRY OF THEM FIRST GENIUS.

The institution where I work does have a Biosafety Level 4 laboratory with rats and mice in it. The security isn't all that tight, though - someone who wanted to get in badly enough would get in. So the idea of someone stealing rats carrying the plague is not so exotic.

I mean, a school in New Jersey /lost/ some black plague-bearing rats while rearranging the cages. A lab tech with an ulterior motive could probably arrange for an animal to go missing. Sure, someone would notice, but it could always be attributed to the day-to-day chaos of a busy institution.

They probably thought the tiger would be smallish and sickly, and were mistaken.
When a healthy, active cat sees something smaller than itself move it's first thought is 'Plaything!' and it's second is 'Is this food? Better chew on it to make sure'.
