Ball Python, best bet to go with a young, handled and sociable Ball. They would rather hide under their girth than bite you. I know, I have one, and he's awesome. Red Tail boas can be good if you handle them on a regular basis.
Pic is me in the background, my niece and aunt holding my pair of Ball pythons.
As for other pythons and boas, don't get the more exotic of the species, since it's a lot more expensive to take care of, say, and emerald tree python than a Ball. There's very specific requirements for those of the more exotic loop.
Anywho, Ball python, definitely, but buy your setup (cage and all) first, and read up on them.
