Oh, I fully understand that pesticides are used in the production of animal feed, and to keep pests off the cows (and other animals). I am OK with that. I eat meat and veggies and I have no complaints.
My point was simply that it is nigh-impossible to avoid killing creatures one way or another. The number of insects, rodents, and birds that die as a result of commerical farming is enormous--and there are even more effects "higher up" the food chain too. Thus, it is hypocritical to stop eating meat on the basis that "it kills" when eating typical farmed produce kills as well.
Note, I didn't say that vegetareanism/veganism was bad, I simply said that this was hypocritical. Don't read in anymore into my comment. I'm not judging, I'm just pointing out a fact.
Now then, if you want to manage your own garden and you don't use pesticides, and you use organic fertilizers, etc, then that is a different story and there is no hypocracy...but that is an extraordinarily rare situation.
