So, I have an empty 29 gallon tank. Could someone suggest what I should put in it? I don't want any fish.

Pic related because they'd make kickass pets.

Lobster.

Buy one from Red Lobster. Raise it as your own. Take it for walks.

It'll be awesome.

Hilarity aside, I was considering Hermit Crabs(which are actually lobsters) How are they as pets.

You know, I can't help but wonder what it looks like when one of those things lays an egg.

I have hermit crabs and I enjoy them a lot. You could put like 7-8 (depending on size) in a tank that size. Just be warned that they need a regulated environment and are easy to accidentally kill (though if you do everything right and no accidents happen, they can live forever, oldest crab ever recorded: 80 years).

Hermit crabs are a huge bother. They're difficult to care for properly and the majority of people fail and kill them within months to a few years.

29 gallon could house a Western Hognose snake for all its life. Those are fun to keep.

Multiple female leopard geckos. You can't go wrong.

Hamsters! Fill with tons of shavings, provide water and food, a stand-alone wheel, and some tubes and toys. That thing will have a blast burrowing everywhere.

If you ever want the tank to hold water again - stay away from gnawing rodents. They will destroy the seams that run along the edges of the glass panes.

I would suggest an Alligator Lizard or another Skink-type reptile. They are tough, dry and generally easy to care for. You do need to invest in a good UV light and calcium dust, though.

Alligator Lizards shed their entire skins in one piece like snakes. They can grow upwards of two feet in length and they live for around 18 years or so. They are very aggressive towards food and it's fun to feed them prey they can chase around - like farm-grown cockroaches, beetles and when they get very large - mice. They can be tamed with a little effort and once comfortable with you will cling to your arm and wrap their prehensile tale around it.
