cool tricks for cats Anonymous
what tricks have you learnt your cat?
how intelligent are they? is there any limit on how much they can learn? i guess their attention span is a bit limited unless its something about hunting and sneaking, since that they do all days

Of course not.

He flushes the toilet and sometimes uses it, opens doors and knows how to be a hypocrite.

Whose seen that crazy russian guy with a cat circus? He has like a dozen cats on stage at a time and has them doing all kinds of acrobatics and stuff.

My cat can open doors, shake hands, and has a startling sense of shame. Like if he falls off the couch or does something clumsy he will hide from everyone for a while, never uses the litter box when someone is looking at him, etc.

Also if I'm sick or otherwise in a bad mood he picks up on it and hangs around me more.

I used to live with a cat who'd give you the evil eye if you saw her do something clumsy, like fall of the couch or slip on her ass doing 40 mph through a 90 degree turn. I quickly learned to look away.

All mine knows how to do is sleep and eat, she steals my food sometimes too.

My cat knows how to sit. She must do so before she gets a treat. She knows "Come up here" - point to her cat tree, her scratching post, the couch, a low table, my computer chair.. Up she goes, and waits in a sit. "Up high" means she can stretch up on her hind legs to grab at the treat - otherwise a no-no.

She knows how to 'wait', but does so only when she feels relaxed enough. I do this usually to keep her from running among my feet as I'm getting her food, but if she's gone longer than usual without it, she tends to ignore me.

"C'mere babygirl" is only for while I am standing - she stretches up as far as she can on my leg, and I pick her up to perch on my shoulder.

... She learned on her own how to bat at the old bag-clip I used on her food until it came off ... It was old, and the spring was weak. I got a new one, and keep her food in the closet now.

Ah, forgot one.

"Get down" means she gets down immediately from whatever place she is... even if it's 'her' spot, like her cat tree.

She got a twenty-six out of ... what, thirty?

She's a smart kitty. :3

one of mine - now long dead - used to be able to open olive oil bottles with it's teeth.

Opening some doors and fridges are well within their capability
