Hay guyz, should I get a pet fox? lolz

What a remarkably disgusting setup you have there. The fox looks like its malnourished or something.

Those fucking Russians better start selling domestic foxes outside of Russia soon, because I'm sick of these threads, trolls or not.

Sure, if you have a license and don't mind your furniture being fucked to hell.

I suggest somehow getting ahold of a tame silver fox...

It's one of my life goals, to get a pet fox--I'm a fox furry, and they're my favourite animals.

i can think of few animals that would make a worse pet than a fox. "hey guyz, lets get a non domesticated carnivore who is really territorial and force it to live in our house with us!"
>> Anonymous
I think the questions are:

Should I make a fox like me?

or

Should I seclude a wild animal born to roam it's environment into a tiny space for it's whole life?

Cats and dogs are different, as they don't mind staying in one area their whole life as it has no effects on them other than positive ones. Foxes? No.
>> Anonymous
>>162888
Exactly how do you imagine a fox is different form a cat in this regard?
>> Anonymous
>>162891
It's a wild animal. Domestic cats and dogs have been bred for docility and practicality for thousands of years.
>> Anonymous
>>162897
Cats haven't exactly been bred until the last 100 years. And even that only applies to actual cat breeds, not moggies.

first of all, what he said>>162905
Also, cats have been selectively bred for temperament for as long as they have been around us. Granted, we didn't used to control them as completely as dogs or even as we do our cats today, but still we were a huge factor in their survival, reproduction, or otherwise. Cats that did't respond well to our environment would either be chased off, killed, not fed, or similar. We have always favoured the friendly ones, they get the shelter, the food, their wounds patched up. The nice ones are the ones that became the ancestors of our pets, even the moggies.

Is this thread exclusively about wild foxes (as pets) or also domesticated foxes?

What's that? Retards don't know about caring for foxes?

Yes, it is extremely cruel to take an animal that must struggle with predators, scarce food and weather and give them a home with food, shelter, company, comfort and medical care.

It's not a big deal. Just do your damn research about the animal and understand what it will need and make sure you an provide all this. An animal like a fox will need a lot of attention and care, and can be a pain in the butt at times, but it is possible to take care of one.

Is a dog or a cat a much safer choice, more predictable, need less care, less likely to destroy all the furniture in the house and smell a lot? Yes. Is it cruel or impossible to take care of a fox, lynx, or other wild animal? No, if you do you damn research and know what you are getting into.

If you can adequately provide for the mental and physical needs of an animal and have the legal rights to obtain it, get whatever you want. Providing for their needs is much, much easier said than done, though. That's when the problem occurs.
