What could cause a sane, nice, and all-around great guy.. an obvious animal lover that is meticilous in his three cats and one dog, as well as various reptiles care, to lose control like that?
Should we confront him about that? I don't believe he will get violent on us. According to his brother, when he confesesd about it he said he felt like he was "outside of his body" and as during the whole time was wondering why he was doing what he did. He felt horrible afterwards, and it does appear to be true. We've seen him giving his dog a lot of treats afterwards and being very gentle.
I honestly don't think he understands why he loses control like that. And I am not a psychologist... I know either. I'm at loss what to do... because the dog is treated so wonderfully otherwise except for the 50 minutes a year he gets abused.
The dog would be somewhat shy the day after and two days after be back to his normal self. So I'm having a hard time questioning what is the right thing to do. There are many things in life far worse than this guy is doing, and he obviously adores his dog. We know he's never hurt any human in his life, treated his ex-girlfriend wonderfully until they broke up because she moved to another state.
I'm confused about the situation! Any insight?
