Scorpion? SCORPION. Anonymous
I'm sorry that I can not provide a picture, but a scorpion, about 1/2 inch long, was sitting on my stair case. I put a recently dead grasshopper in a jar and placed it at the foot of the stair case, and now I'm waiting for the thing to take the bait.

Please tell me, guys, what should I do?

Also, pic unrelated.

Anyone? Help me, please.

Where do you live?

In Florida. It shouldn't be deadly, to what I know.

Leave your house for a few hours and when you get back home you can look for him. Hide and Seek.

I'm serious. I need to kill this guy, NOW.

Did it look like this?
>> Anonymous

No, it was smaller and had a very dark carapace. Plus, its tail was more segmented, I think.

Also, I think it went either in to the bathroom or the messy bedroom upostairs.

Drop something heavy on it and run away, I dunno.

I was going to pour alcohol in the jar and close it after it went in.

You took your eyes off the thing!

well there are only 3 species of scorpion that naturally occur in florida.

i'm pretty sure this is the darkest one>>229739Centruroides gracilis.

How lethal is it?

One microliter of its venom is equivalent to the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

. . .

Great.

you'll be fine if..it will just hurt like a bitch. only one scorpion in the US has been known to cause death (not all the time either) and it lives west of the mississippi. they are related though. :D

You'll need some new pajamas until you find it.

Find it yet?

He's not posting anymore. Must be dead already.

baby scorps are extremely venomous and much more dangerous than their adult counterparts. Be wary and cautious when attempting to catch/co-exist with baby scorps because they will not only cause more pain, they can do lasting physical damage.

You may want to call a local exterminator/poison control and ask them what you should do.

>baby scorps are extremely venomous and much more dangerous than their adult counterparts

is bullshit. 10 seconds on google is all it would have taken to find what you were going to post is a complete bullshit myth. Baby scorpions are no more venomous than adults. Scorpions are also neurotoxic, not necrotoxic, which means the venom doesn't "turn your feet black", dumbshit. If a scorpion sting turns your foot black it's because of a severe allergic reaction or secondary infection and has nothing to do with potency of venom.

is it true that if you pour alcohol on a scorpion the scorpion will sting and kill itself? I remember hearing that somewhere - maybe it was in mgs3. not sure.

...no.

I posted both. Unless you can find a resource supporting the claim that baby scorpions are more venomous than adults, or that scorpion venom (or any neurotoxin, for that matter) causes blackening of the skin, I suggest you STFU.

i agree with this anon. i've NEVER heard even the suggestion that babies are any more dangerous than their adult counterparts.

the only thing i've ever heard/read in regards to venom and age doesn't even have to do with scorpions..though it probably applies. it was that baby Latrodectus (widow spiders) are just as dangerous as adults and not to discount them as less dangerous.
