They're very smart birds. And yes, they are cute.

Crows become a bit less novel after the dirty shits walk in front of your car for the hundredth time so they can stuff their filthy beaks with roadkill, leaving you to slam on the brakes and hope they don't end up punching a hole in your windscreen.

Intelligence-wise crows are on the same level as apes.

Crows are fine if there's only a few.

Like every year, around this time, a million billion of them have invaded the city of Davis, CA and they all gather at one parking lot, only to cover it with an ocean of shit.

When we are gone, crows will build their civilization upon our ruined cities and we shall become the demons of their creation myths.

ah yes. It's creepy/exciting going down that mess of trees on campus where they all flock. You bike faster and faster and you hear them cawing up in the trees but you see nothing move. Fun stuff

i always wanted one as a pet...

anyone here have pics/stories of raising and releasing or owning a crow/raven?
>> Anonymous
Crows and ravens aren't really pets - they're just birds that live with you. Adults are very shy, so you have to get them when they are young and bold. They're messy, they can be pushy, and they will steal things and hide them. It's best to just aim for a black and white African bird, its only about 900 bucks if you can find a breeder.

If you're lucky enough to raise a crow, after you release them they will typically stay around for at least a few years, at least the one that I did chose to... but it is very sad when they stop returning and you're always stuck wondering if they're alive and chose not to come back, or if they died.

Most interesting story about a pet crow was one I saw on a documentary about animal's intelligence - a woman and her pet crow are in her car, she pulls up to her gate and gets out to open it... the crow hops into the front and turns the ignition off, looking all proud about it.

how do i shot pet?

He means that these particular birds are not really "pets." They're very intelligent, and also free spirited. It's more like they view you as family, so if they decide they're experienced enough to survive on their own, then they leave.

definitely not. lots of birds are just as, if not more bonded to and dependent on their "parents" as dogs are.

i really didnt know that. most every bird ive ever owned or even seen other people own have all been pretty independant. i'm also super interested in falconry and in researching the details of that, found a similar warning about the birds never bonding with people.
