OP: Yes, domestic cats can become feral. As long as it still acts like a housecat (cuddles, comes when called, etc) it is not feral. A feral cat will not let you touch it, though it may eat food you provide it with.

He spends a lot of time outside, but comes home to eat, and at night he curls about my face and cuddles me. If I am sick, he will lay on my chest and growl whenever anyone comes close (Including my partner, who he KNOWS won't hurt me).
There are people who have met him who used to think animals did not have emotions and could not love. They don't think that now. You just have to prove to them that you love them first.
