Dear /AN

Spiders are misunderstood by the masses. Stop the hate. They provide a most valuable community service and rarely bite.
>> Anonymous
they still freak me out
>> Anonymous
Oh wow another spider thread, what a suprise.

7:1 in favour of spiders.

They are not misunderstood.
People think they are creepy motherfuckers.
They are creepy motherfuckers.
I do believe we are understanding this, rite?

Animals people get scared of:
Rats - run fast, furry
Spiders - run fast, many legs, can be furry, and can kill you
Insects of any kind - run fast, can kill you, etc etc...

People just hate shit that is furry, can run fast, small, and can kill you.

This is why spiders get much haet.

At the time of this post, there are 4 spider threads on the page, and 1 cat thread.

Gtfo spiderfag.

Not fucking even.
I love all other bugs, have rats for pets, and am not even scared of snakes.
Spiders just look creepy. The second them move I flinch and have an impulse to throw it in boiling water.
One day I'll buy a tranchula, and toss it in a pot of boiling water for ya, /an/

The requested information has already been supplied. He did not ask for accurate, information, however.

People haet what they don't know. If you are not willing to understand something, you will always fear it, you will hate it. This is why homophobes often have homosexual tendencies. (I'm looking at you,>>148456)

Deep bullshit aside, the reason why humans are afraid of spiders, snakes, rats, etc are because they posed the most danger to our distance ancestors. A dog or cat is easier to spot than a tiny little spider. I forgot where I was going with this.

Maybe I'm just one of the exceptions to this.
I read books on spiders, I'm entirely educated and find them facinating- but seeing one, in person, moving, makes me absolutely scared shitless and want to kill it, even if it's a Daddy longlegs.

>>148469but seeing one, in person, moving, makes me absolutely scared shitless and want to kill it,

I never understood this. Spiders do nothing to me. As far as I can understand, the fear and hate reactions toward them seem insane more than anything else.

Then again, this is Finland, where a poisonous spider is stuff of folklores.

Come visit my house here in Australia, I walked around 10 minutes ago, and spotted 8 Huntsmen (in b4 "not poizun lul") and a few other bitchey spiders.

Last year, I got evacuated from an apartment complex because of a funnel web that went "missing" within. Gawd I sometimes hate living in Sydney.

Not all Australians are pussy little bitches afraid of spiders. But every fucking male I know is so it's left to me, the only damn girl in the group (in before "no girls on internet") to deal with them.

Pussy fucks.

If I know it's harmless i'm not scared of them but if it's potentially poisonous I will throw a fucking shoe at it then while it's stunned stomp on it with the other shoe until it becomes liquid.

Even though most spiders eat annoying little pests like flies, skeeters and moths, I still don't want any big motherfuckers in my house.

You'd best be talking about a cellar spider...
>> Anonymous
No, I think he is talking about opiliones...
Ahh well my 8 Tarantula's I keep in my dorm can fuck up any one elses illegal pets in the dorm, as long as those pets are mice or crickets...
>> G
i heartily agree with OP. spiders are the win. i want to study them.

but to be fair i kind of understand the fear, it's an instinctual thing. i mean, they can be kinda deadly and all

My brother-in-law is so afraid of spider it has taken him over a year just to be able to walk into my flat. I keep a tarantula in the back room, but I am thinking of moving her to the living room. The guy wont even get near my place if that is the case.
My spider, to combat the furfags and their fucking cats.

Actually, I've liked jumping spiders for a while now. Especially the really small ones with the brighter colors.

Well, yes. Cellar spiders and Harvestmen (Not a spider, but close enough in its qualities to make an archnaphobe shiver.)
Daddy longlegs is just a nice neutral term that everyone knows, so I don't have to hunt for an image.

Some people also use it to refer to craneflies. While it's a term that everybody knows, they use it to refer to at least three completely different creatures whose only similarity is that they're in the same phylum.

can anyone tell me why spiders have hairy legs and bodies?
>> Gunlord !.YMO7aNBcQ
>>149175
I can't speak for all spiders, but I think some species of tarantula use their hairs for protection--with their hindmost pair of legs, they'll shake some hair into the eyes of a predator, irritating and blinding it.

protection and sensation
>> Anonymous
yes new world tarantulas have urticating hairs that they can kick(not every spieces can kick them some have to be pressed in) but it is a major sensory part of any spider...

Furries aren't small, nor can they run fast or kill you.
>> Dr. BigBulls !6ts7WxNHwc

Just to make a clarification, the hairs are not a mammalian type of hair. They are called setae (if you fucking care) and are just projections of the cuticle which is the spiders exoskeleton.
>> Anonymous
you with the tarantula in ur back room, is that a pink salmon or is that just a random pic...???
