/an/, meet my new friend. He hangs from a window at the front of my house, he's about 3 inches long, and his web covers almost all of the window.

I'm kind of sad though, cause it's the rainy season where I live, and his web keeps on being utterly ravaged by it. This pic is after one bit of rain where 1/3 of his web was taken out. Right now it's raining again, and 1/2 of his web is gone. What are the chances that he moves to a different spot, what conditions, etc.

I really like having him around, it's funny to watch people freak out over him.

We get those all the time on the farm. They're possibly the only spiders I actually like, and that's weird because they're huge and creepy.

But unlike most spiders, these guys don't like to roam all over your house. They make their web and fucking stay put.
It's really fun ripping off the legs of grasshoppers and tossing them into the web. Moths too.

That is an awesome looking spider. I'd faint if I saw it anywhere near me. You should try and put something over the web to protect it.

Got suggestions from /b/ to put a tarp over it
>> Anonymous
/b/ answered?

yea maybe a tarp

You bastard, go get a tarp immediately, not before you reweave the broken parts of the web to make up for the loss and suffering.

Funny thing is that's a female in OP's pic.

Is it poisonous? I'd be worried that it'd seek shelter in the house and wind up biting and kill me/you.

Won't a tarp keep prey from getting into its web?

Looks like a garden spider to me. They're big and kinda scary looking, but they can't hurt you. Just a fuckton of awesome to look at.

UPDATE

Rain stopped, and the web wasn't harmed anymore then it already was. SHE (as I've found out it's a she) is now sitting in the center of her web once again, content and unharmed. God I love this creature.
