cats that meow a lot, are they trying to speak? Anonymous
my friends cat always starts meowing a lot when there are humans close, it walks right next to you and "meow.. meow meow...meow...meow meow meow"! it does that every time, even if you see it outdoor in the garden, so it can't be because it wants outdoors or something. could it be that its very social cat and its trying to speak? or even mimicking human chat?

It's saying "FEED ME MOTHERFUCKER".

I'm surprised it's been 20 minutes and no one has posted the ACK copypasta

Haha wow. I hit submit and got "Error: Abnormal reply." Yes, indeed, 4chan, indeed.

i read somewere that cats never meow at each other, but only at humans

Some cats are just talkative and want to carry on a conversation with you. Talk back to it and see what it does.

My Moon meows when she wants to eat or to drink in the bathroom (pic related)
She doesn't do long meow... it's more like "rouaou rouaou" very fast.
My Chawaï meows when he is alone, never in front of humans.
And Chouchen (my brother's kitten we keep while my brother is in Japan for holidays) meows a lot but as he is really tiny (almost 5 months old) it's difficul to hear him. Most of time we just see his mouths moving but don't hear a noise.

My cat won't shut the fuck up.

I've seen it. It was creepy because after going "meowmeow meow" to the other cat, they both stared at me.

guess again, they have been around for ages, but the recent ones are pretty advanced, they can scan long discussions of meows and then translate it into english!

My birds chatter in the same rhythm as people around them talk. I wouldn't put it past cats to do something similar, only meowing and growling and that sort of thing. But I'd expect most cats to be acutely disinterested in doing something like that, given that IME cats prefer to communicate using body language first.

(That's amazingly similar to the birds, who generally just warble to keep up with the humans' chattering... when they want something, they'll find a way to make a racket instead.)

my cats always had something to say, I just spoke back and forth with them until they got tired or what they wanted in the first place.

my cat will sit on the window sill and talk to birds. Its a real trip.

I swear to god one of my cats sounded like he said my and mother's first name's a few times. One time I was sitting in my bedroom and I heard my mother call me, so I went into the other room where her voice came from... and there was my cat (mother was out in the back yard). My mother had the same thing happen to her once too. I think he was just yowling, but damned if he didn't make some "raise the hair on the back of your neck" noises when he did that. You'd swear he was making an effort to try and speak english.

Late at night when im trying to sleep, my cat will walk around through the WHOLE house making this sad meowish sound that sounds likes its saying "helllloooooowwww?" it also does this when shes looking for me, but she'll walk into my room hop on my bed, get bored of my scratching, hop off and down stairs and continue her sad serenade. Also, when i pet her she starts dripping from her nose all over my bed where shes perched. anyone know what could cause that? Sorry to OT this wonderous thread

two cats I owned used to call each other using some sort of "me-meow" meow
>> Anonymous
My grandma's cat will mimic her very well. I think it's got something to do with her voice because she got her dog to do it, too. The dog would whine out "I love you" and she got the cat saying something like.. "right now?" if I remember right (the cat is diabetic and has to be fed every two hours so they'll ask if she wants her food "right now," etc.)

really cute, regardless
