Bike question Bridget !FFV1SjUAV2
Hey /an/ hero, i have a question for you guys, since i figured that people who enjoy animals and nature are also bike riders.

I'm -REALLY- wanting to get a bike, i just moved out of the country, and my city i live in, Wichita Falls, which has the annual Hotter-n-Hell 100, has a good 100 miles of bike trails, and they're supposedly about to begin construction of the last part of the bike paths, connecting them together so this city of about 100k people will have a giant loop of paved cement bike path going around the entire fucking city.

Now, i live -very- close to the park that this path will undoubtedly go through. My problem is, i have no bike <____>

I grew up in the country riding around trails, always wishing i could get to go on cement trails, and not long ago I just moved into the city.

Spring is on the way and I want to get a bike to burn off some pounds and get to view all those pretty city planted trees and what not come into leaf as the Texas spring and summer roll around.

So my question is......what is a good bike to get? Price range is between 100-200 dollars, preferably 150 or so.

Wants: brakes that won't die within 2 months, gears that won't lock up in 2 months, reasonably comfy ride and super light, i suppose.

So can you guys help me out?

This really doesn't belong here, but nobody really cares about the content in /an/.

You probably wont be able to get a decent bike new for under 200bux, so if I were you I'd try checking police auctions. I've gotten several good bikes there just fine. Some pretty well known/good brands are Trek and Specialized, but I really can't get more specific unless I know exactly what you're going to do with the thing. If you want a light bike you should probably go for a road bike, though you really won't be able to take it anywhere other than paved roads.

Decent bikes sell new for about $300, assuming you don't want suspension. As was mentioned before: used may be a good bet, but I'd not go this route unless you know enough about bikes to tell what condition the bike is in by inspecting it yourself.

As far as brands go, I've been quite pleased with my Giant.
