Axolotl Plush Anonymous
I am learning how to make stuffed animals on my sewing machine. Today I made an Axolotl... what do you think? 1-10?

Are you guys kidding?! LOL! What a great response (and surprise). Anyway, I love Axolotls, so I had to make one.

I should hang out on this board more... o_O

I don't know if my skills are so good yet. But I love those things!!! They are sweet. I love giant creepy-crawlies (and making them even bigger in cuddly form).

What the heck is an Axolotl? o.0

They are cute salamanders that stay forever in their larval form.
They live in Mexico - although they are often kept as pets and used for research, they are endangered in the wild.

If you look up "baby axolotl" on Flickr, there is a super cute gallery of them there.

Both of your plushies seem like fairly good representations. Your axoloti seems to be a remarkably good representation with the only things not to dimension being the eyes and the membrane running down its back. Otherwise it appears to be right on from what I can tell. The angle of the pics don't help in gauging the length.

As for the dydticus marginalis it is also a damn good representation. The only things off is that I cannot see the jointing of the front legs, it appears a bit thin in the middle, and the pincers seem a bit off in size and placement.

Either way, if they were exact I would think it would be a bit off putting to the average person. Also, I think posting pics with yourself drew attention away from your creations. Thus the lack of responses. You are what I and I think many anon would call pretty, and at the least very cute. Happy Creating.

>They are cute salamanders that stay forever in their larval form.

You can bring about their final transformation, but they have to be under extreme mental anguish and must have a need to achieve their final form.

>>343591
Yeah, that's why you should never evolve your mudkips. They are just happier in their first form.

Thank you for your comments. I am still practicing so it nice to get feedback like that.

Also, to whomever it was who wanted to buy one... I don't have time to make another right now, but my LJ is sarabella.livejournal.com and I sometimes sell my things on there (if you, or anyone else, wanted to add me).

I used to have an etsy shop (Username is FurGots) but I haven't put anything there in a while.

I hope to make more animals eventually. It's so hard to reproduce something more than once - in a perfect world, I would make a prototype, then sell the pattern to a person who would manufacture more.

I have a pet salamander and would love a plush. possibly 5:1ish scale

also.. op is a fox.
>> Anonymous
Wow those are the coolest stuffed animals I've ever seen. 10 out of 10.

You should make more stuffed animals that have never been done. You should make a giant trash can crab.

You should think about hiring some old mexican women for cheap and having them mass produce these types of things.
>> Anonymous
OP those are awesome stuffed animals.
As>>343590stated, they aren't 100% accurate, but they are fairly good representations. You're a cutie as well. Give yourself a hand on work well done if you haven't already.
Have you made anymore?

Holy fuck, it that Nu from Chrono Trigger?
>> Anonymous
>>343554

Holy shit.
>> Anonymous
Yup! It sure is.

To the person who said that I should start selling it: That is a very flattering thing to say. Thank you. I am sad to say that I don't have much time to create things like this, because of school and work. However, I do hope to put up a domain-name portfolio of my work (with some things to sell) - currently, I have my things on http://tealeaf.deep-ice.com, which I do update occasionally.
I would love to sell the things I make!
Thank you again.

About the Nu - I did sell him on Ebay; he went for about sixty dollars...
He was relatively easy to make.
Two giant circles make his body,and add simple arms & legs;
add the details (eyes, hair, mouth) - and you have yourself a Nu.
A giant Nu...

Mass produce these suckers and make it mandatory for all kids to have one. They will have wacky adventures and in the end, will have large imagination that will benefit them in the future.

And when you make millions off this, OP, I want you to know that I called it.

Now you can send me a Hobbes as thanks.

id like to get as good as you! these are the only 2 things ive made so far

OP is the coolest thing ever on /an/
You can even go tripfag and I won't mind, that way I will know it is you and revere you whenever you post.

I want a Hobbes so fucking bad ;_;
But I could never buy anything Calvin and Hobbes related becuase I know that it is against Bill Waterson's wishes and everything he stands for to have his creations commercialized.

I still love you OP. I'm cute, have a M.S in Ecology, I know we would love each other, but I am to be married in 6 weeks, maybe next lifetime.

nb4 i dont think you have a fiancee, enjoy your hand
>> Anonymous
wow. good job. i've made a few...by hand. i don't own a machine...but i'd like to make some that good one day. :]
>> Anonymous
I would buy the shit out of these. SRSLY. Hobbes and the Axolotl? Yes, please.
>> Sarabella
Those are really cute. I started off doing similar things, in felt. Simple shapes. Then you slowly build up over time... That's how it starts. ^^
To the one with the Masters in Ecology, I would have loved to major in Ecology if I had known in the beginning what I know now . Instead, though, I am in elementary education with a concentration in Science...
I work at a nature center, and lead a bio study group at my university, and I love it - and through each, I have learned so much. I will probably take some courses ecology after I graduate. I feel at a loss without it.
Congratulations on your engagement and have a happy wedding!

OP, these are awesome. They get a 10.

OP.I am truly pleased to see this. I had a giant pacific salamander (or tiger, I was never really sure because I've seen pics of both and they both match in different books) and I love that cuddly little axoloti you made! You really should sell them so I could get one sometime.
