Ausfag here.
I've done a few dives around the Melbourne area (Port Phillip Bay) and some in Mexico. I'm a beginner as well, I hope to do more soon cause it's so fucking awesome.

I've dived only twice couple years ago here in Vancouver, Canada. It was cold as fuck even in July and it was amasing. On my second dive I had some malfunction in the regulator, so i found myself underwater with barely any air left. Plus I was always afraid of water and tried to cure myself by exposure. Experience of my fucking lifetime.
I wish I had time and money to dive more though.

California diver here, madly in love with the kelp forests. Monterey Bay mostly, with some altitude diving in Lake Tahoe. I don't recommend Tahoe if you're looking for animals, though- it's boring as hell unless you like rock formations.

Monterey Bay, on the other hand...LOVE. Pic is from Lovers Point- sorry for the quality, the vis was only about 15 feet or so because of all the algae in the water. Still the biggest sunflower star I've seen in a long time, so it's one of my favorite pics.

I almost went diving on O'ahu, but that fell through at the last minute. Someday.

Where the hell was your buddy during all this? That's the kind of horror story that makes me cringe.

Britfag diver here.

Kelp forests creep me the fuck out, not sure why.

Dived off the coasts of Brittany and Cyprus. Practiced in a place called Capenwray, which is an old flood quarry turned into a dive centre of win and god.

Just curious, since the only freshwater diving I've done is in lakes- what makes it win to dive in a quarry?

Well, its fully stocked with fish, plus its had a lot of boats sunk in it, even a helicopter. There are even statues of the Flinstones down there and a giant rocking horse for you to ride.

Ahahahaha, are you serious? That IS win. If I ever find myself in that part of England, I'll have to look into it.
