As is common with the three fucktard vet offices around here, I took my pet, was told it was fine and its condition worsened.
So I bought my 3yr old rat a friend. Finally found one that was healthy. Did the whole quaranteen, introduction, babysitting, etc until they were comfy.
Seemed to get along fine until my oldest rat, Nezi, started to get sore eyes. Thought maybe she caught a cold, watched her like a hawk. Didn't get worse but didn't get better.
I also noticed a scab on her side. Thinking maybe the play fighting wasn't play, I split them up. Scab became larger.
Took to vet. He told me to split the rats up (which they were already...)
I started looking at possible irritants. No lice, didn't look like mange, and the fact that the new rat didn't seem to have probs..I suspect allergies.
So I changed bedding and added a 'sock' tunnel previously used by a ferret (was laundered though). Took out the sock, have to wait on the bedding though. They quit selling the old type.
Even eliminated some of the common food allergens.

Coming to the point, anyone have tips on how to make her comfy while I figure out what she's itching over?

is she having any other symptoms?

fyi:
most vets aren't trained to deal with smaller rodents, reptiles, mustelids(weasels), etc... they just know the basic symptoms of the major illnesses and afflictions. i had a beautiful baby boy ferret, Damien, that got all itchy, started sleeeping longer, lost weight... the vet said he just had a cold. he prescribed baytril and sent us on our way. he got better for a few days until one morning we found him groaning and struggling to breath in his cage. he died in my arms 20 minutes before the vets opened.
it may be nothing, or it could be serious. the best advice i can give is if you love your little fuzzy friend, FIND A (breed) SPECIALIST!
