I'm an animal lover and a meat eater. I had a friend who went vegetarian for a summer, said he felt great, so I think I'm going to try it eventually.
>> Anonymous
I don't eat rabbit or chicken. Is that vegetarian enough for you?
>> Anonymous
Omnivore. Have actively tried to become vegatarian a few times, but I always relapsed into being an omnivore again. I'd like to try again.
>> Anonymous
Vegan (6 years, veg 5 before that). I like animals, even the kind Americans eat. It's not much of a sacrifice as far as sacrifices for what you believe in go. If you think something is wrong, and you have the option of saying "eh, I'm going to take part anyhow" or "no, I disagree with this and I should do what I can to remove myself"...well, I think the latter is right.

>omnivore
>any of that crap

humans are naturally omnivores...

I eat both meat and vegetables. Somehow makes me wonder what if those vegans trap in meatland, will they starve to death?

THEN WHO WAS PHONE?

I'm vegetarian and I try to avoid dairy and fish. I still eat eggs. I think it's stupid that people won't eat dogs when pigs are far more intelligent. Also, there are biological reasons not to eat meat - human teeth structure and intestinal length, cancer/heart rates, etc. Besides, its unnecessary, pollutes like hell, is usually very cruel to animals that can feel things, and I don't have stomach problems ever.

"I have no doubt that it is the destiny of the human race, in its gradual improvement, to leave off eating animals, as surely as the savage tribes have left off eating each other when they came in contact with the more civilized." -Henry David Thoreau

Dearest /an/,
I just adopted a white male rat from a shelter, about a year old, who was found abandoned under someone's porch for two weeks. He was really friendly and crawled all over my shoulders when I first got him, and the next day after. He would let me handle him and pet him. The day after that, he suddenly started running away and squeaking when I tried to pick him up, and nipping at my hands. I tried leaving the door open the next day to let him explore on his own and he promptly leapt on my arm and sunk his teeth in. Twice. I didn't hit him but I brushed him off and then I couldn't get him back in his cage without him attacking so I waited until he went in and locked it again. My girlfriend thought he was just being playful, so I tried playing with him tonight (petting him, feeding him tons of treats as I have been) and he nipped a few times playfully, then sunk his teeth into my thumb, closed his eyes and continued to bite as hard as he could until I got my other hand in there and grabbed him off. It's bleeding like crazy. As we speak he's been staring at me from his cage and sniffing me. He doesn't seem to bite unless I approach him but I'm going to have to because he has an appointment for neutering tomorrow. What do I do to befriend the little dude?

Pic related. His name is Ridley.

tl;dr: how do i tame rat?

Shit, wrong thread.

why not omnivore? so you think humans are naturally herbivores?

i think some of you petafags forget humans are animals too. we are animals that have an omnivorous diet, deal with it. im all for people who can actually keep up being vegetarian or vegan...but i hate it when those groups think they are somehow better then people who do eat meat. if you think humans should be...or are natural herbivores why does almost every single culture across the planet have a history on food with meat in it? and many cultures even make preparing the meal with meat into an art. even in evolutionary terms humans eat both plants and animal matter.

there's nothing wrong with eating meat. its the inhumane ways we raise and kill the animals for food that is at fault.

i like the term scientists give us

Yes this. Crusade for better living environments for the animals, shoving your ideals on to other people never works.

>>331959
Real vegetarians don't eat eggs either. Who said eating meat was unnecessary? It's part of our diet asshat. You guys are worse than those guys that go door to door shoving their religion on you. If I wanted to be a vegetarian I would, I don't need some stupid fuck preaching at me.

real vegetarians do not eat animals.
eggs are not animals. they are unfertilized eggs. chicken periods.

Plants are living beings too, idiot. They wilt if you neglect them and flourish when you show them love. How dare you eat my precious beauties. They already have those barbaric insects and animals feeding on them already, constantly, mercilessly.

I like beef the best, personally. Nothing quite like revenge for all the brutal slaughtering those grazers do on plant life.

>inb4 "meat eater" "omnivore" "carnivore" any of that crap.

Omnivore is actually a perfect word for homo-sapiens.

I tried vegetarianism, but no matter how much pasta/salad/tofu or whatever I picked up, no meal ever felt substantial without meat. It's occurred to me that perhaps there's a genetic predisposition to hungering for meat, since there seems to be for pretty much everything else.
I can see why people might refrain from eating red meat or pork, but there's nothing in the world better for you than crustaceans/seafood. Fucking delicious, too.

>and I don't have stomach problems ever.

That wasn't my experience. I needed to shit like 5 times a day--each toilet session taking 10 minutes extra due to all the fibrous content, I was constipated and my stomach hurt, and by god the sound of me passing gas was like the rage of Thor; lol thunderfarts.

I got the pointy teeth in front and the flat mashy teeth in the back because Humans are omnivores, it's an evolutionary advantage.

If you choose not to eat part of the range you are designed to eat that's your choice...but don't act all superior because you choose to limit your natural diet.

Meat isn't any more murder than veggies are, since as has been amply pointed out, veggies are alive too. Life is fueled by death unless you happen to photosynthesize, which no human can. And for that matter, the world's plants would run out of carbon dioxide if there weren't any death-eaters to expell it.

Enjoy your position at the top of the food chain and stop wetting yourself because someone wants to grill a steak. Want to be veggie? Great, be a veggie, and stfu.

>>331995
Agreed.

>>331969
They come from animals, they're considered a meat/dairy product. If someone were to have that egg fertilized it would be a chicken embryo (LOL SCIENCE!) I don't care if you're a vegetarian/vegan whatever. Great. I don't need to hear about it. STFU and do your own thing.

makes me semi raged when talking about our teeth structure is for vegetables only.

I don't think humans are naturally vegetarians. Hell I'm not even saying Vegetarianism is the absolute healthiest diet. But I think it's the right thing to do seeing as you don't NEED to eat meat. I'm not a "Live and let live" vegetarian because I believe anyone that can, Should be a vegetarian.

also
Vitamin B-12 is a vitamin, one of eight B vitamins which is important for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation, but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production.
Plants do not supply B-12 to humans.
