What about those things that look like a huge wasp or something, and remind me of a Jerusalem cricket (they might not even look like one, I'm not even sure)

But they're all dark shiny blue. I was afraid it was some kind of super-hornet that would instantly kill me if it stung me. I would run away and start crying whenever I saw one, so I never got a good look, but they were pretty awesome but terrified me.

First time I saw one was a couple years ago in college, so maybe they're new to the US? I dunno. Haven't seen them since I was at the park with my girlfriend a few months ago.

Wrong. It was totally something from Ichneumonidae.

we have cave crickets here. they aren't as freaky as that, but they still fit the freaky and harmless category. looks like a huge spider.

Might be a mud dauber, but if it was "huge", more likely a bald face/headed hornet.

this reminds me of the Japanese bug fighting thing that went on at /v/. Weta was high tier.

They are physically strong, but can't stand against fast poisonous insects like wasps or tarantulas.
In most fights of jaws, they would win, though.

Btw, they're totally harmless, can't even hurt with their sting.
It's only for lying eggs inside their prey.

Yeah, they're harmless, they'll just lay eggs inside your brain. And their spawn will consume your brain when they hatch.

that thing just ate a spider in half in bugfights

My brother caught a Jerusalem cricket and decided to feed it to my tarantula. That thing was a monster. It would rampage the tank at night and rapidly beat it's body against the substrate. My poor tarantula was traumatized. I forced my brother to get rid of it because the fucker kept me up at night.

That will haunt my dreams. Thanks for that.

Also called camel crickets. Disgusting fucks, and they're always jumping at me. Apparently they like to jump TOWARD a threat in attempts to scare it off...instead of just, you know, fleeing like any sensible bug.
