Needs me some help with my ecology course! Anonymous
ok internets dont let me down now.
Here's the situation, I have this ecology course and i need to do a presentation in about 5 days time. I can't think of a topic, so you guys are gonna do it for me. It has to be related to one of these in some way:Population growth & regulation, Competition, Predation & parasitism, Metapopulations, Diversity, Natural selection, Variation, Sexual selection ,Evolution of sex, Life history, senescence, Speciation. Keep in mind that it is a research project for a 3rd year university course, so nothing stupid or simple. Also I have access to tons of scientific journals so meta-analysis is okay. But i dont have time for actual field work. oh, and its a population and evolutionary ecolgy course in case you were wondering. OK GO!

I don't think /an/ moves fast enough to warrant a bump after eight minutes.

What do you want us to do? Give you every current article on any/everyone of those topics? Not gonna happen.

Evolution of sex, why are the testicles on the outside? Try to get information on the evolution of external testicles.

I've never studied the evolution of... any reproductive system, but the gooey parts of a woman look a lot like a man's gooey parts (Not just acting like a cavity) and women did come first...

Evolution of flammability in pines is a really cool topic.

It's simple enough that you can think a lot of it through but it has enough complexity to be non-obvious, so simulations can help.

Try starting here:

@article{schwilk2002gnh,
title={{Genetic niche-hiking: an alternative explanation for the evolution of flammability}},
author={Schwilk, D.W. and Kerr, B.},
journal={Oikos},
volume={99},
number={3},
pages={431--442},
year={2002},
publisher={Blackwell Synergy}

Try something about "why are systems with a medium Destruction the most diverse ones"
Or find a reason why the rain forest is the most diverse ecosystem, something along these lines
