My dog, Oscar, has some sort of water-retention problem. He's a Dachshund, and his abdomen is 2-3 times what it should be. Having recently gotten a raise at work I am bringing him to the vet tomorrow for $200 worth of tests, but my question to everyone is, has this happened to anyone else's dog of this breed? What should I expect? Treatable by medications, or will he end up in surgery? As a footnote, we live in an area where heartworm occurs regularly, but I could'nt afford the meds. Please help if you can.
Drinking soda dog is funny!!!
Is a mod deleting my awesome posts or are people remaking the threads :/

First, not my pic. Second, he's chewing on the straw, fool.
I buyed you a pepsibut I drinked it.
>>46314lol, dogs don't have lips anyway. it'd be impossible for them to suck fluid through a straw. DEFINITELY chewing on it. My grandma had a dachshund for 18 years and she never had any symptoms similar to your dog. I have a dachsund myself so I know how sad you must feel since they are so adorable. Hope your doggy feels better. good luck with that. Here is a pic of my doggie wishing your doggy luck.
>>46360uh, my dog drinks through a straw.
>>46360Yes they do>>46310That's why YOU'RE supposed to brush them
furries love these kind of dogs. therefore they suck.
>>46403Know he doesn't, and I should know. I AM your dog.
That really doesn't sound good. He might have worms. That's never happened to my dog; but she gets all of her meds and regular check ups.Augh, people, if you don't have the money for vet and meds, please don't get animals. ><
Water-retention? My brain is being dumb right now. :(I have had 3 dachshunds in my life, and my mother has had 4 now I think... anyways I don't recall any of them ever having water-retention problems, if my brain is right in thinking what that exactly is. I think that means I need to sleep.Hope your dog feels better.
