How come animals dont get plaque, and rotting teeth as often as people do? They dont even brush their teeth! If we still lived out in the wild would we be getting rotten teeth all the time?
>> Anonymous
Animals don't live very long and bad dental care is a part of that. Once their teeth go they go.

I recently finished cleaning a fox skull. All of the teeth on one side of the skull and jaw had changed to grey and there were ridges and cavities that the other side of the skull did not have. There was also pits in the bone on that side, pin head honeycomb structures. They might have been caused by decomp but frankly, I'm laying my bets on it being an old animal that was on its last legs with crappy teeth.

>>345670pointed out the obvious. Animals in the wild don't really live that long. They're knocked off by poison, predation, starvation, disease...it's very rare for an animal to reach an age where their teeth do actually go. My old cat was nearly toothless when she died and the only reason she lived as long as she did was that we were feeding her.

Humans wouldn't really live past 30 if not for civilization.

The question is wrong.
Better ask: Why do humans get plaque and rotting teeth?
Answer: Because their diet is shit.
Sugar, sugar and more sugar in everything we consume, which feeds the 'bad' bacteria in our mouth and causes tooth rot.
Animals do not have access to that much sugar.

You are kind of late since we have established that animals do lose their teeth, but they do not live long enough

Better ask: Why did you TL;DR a 4 post thread?
Answer: You are a faggot

>>345715
Well sorry, but you are WRONG.
Compared with animal teeth, human teeth degrade much faster due to bad nutrition.

roffle, yes, if you don't brush your teeth and rinse with orange juice

dogs live past 10-15 though eh?

oh shit... they don't

I agree. I stoped eating that shit some time ago. I do not need my dentist anymore.

I eat only animals ;)

Then again elephants can reach 70 years.
The grinding down occurs not of tooth rot, but because of their digestive system. They are ruminants.

Not like ours.

A human's natural lifespan is about 30 years. Our 60-80 years now are exclusively due to medicine and an easier lifestyle.

Depends on the animal. In the wild their teeth go pretty quick. But when an animal is domesticated they stay white for a lot longer because they're not ingesting tons of sugar, fats, etc. Just meat and vegetables. Imagine what your teeth would be like if you just ate boiled meat and cabbage.

furry

humans are and will always be the superior species on earth (and most likely the universe as any intelligent species will become our not-man-slaves)

animals are here to amuse us

we don't need them or earth anymore

hydroponics, cloning, etc

Did you know that around 80% of pets by age three show signs of dental disease? If you brush your pet's teeth, then they can live longer without plaque and rotting teeth as quickly either.
