do trout feed on spring peepers in any of their forms? are they in direct competition for food? searches on the internet have led me to believe they do in fact compete for food. i have not been having as much luck on the first question though. does anyone know where i might go or who i might ask to attain this information?

close! i wanted to know because a pond in my front yard used to have thousands of them, but some asshole introduced trout into it so he could fish in his backyard despite there being a much larger body of water that has native trout about 100 yards away. and now there is a significant drop in the population and i am trying to confirm my theory.

Frogs do this too...if it's the size of their head (or smaller) they'll eat it.

Anyway, OP: Yes, trout do eat frogs (and frog spawn, and tadpoles) but a more likely cause is something enviornmental. Frogs are very susceptible to enviornmental contamination. I'd be thinking about pesticides, fertilizers, or some kind of dumping that may have caused the die-off.
