Indoor cat Anonymous
Can anyone give me any advice on an indoor cat? My old cat recently passed after a good long life but she was half indoor/outdoor. This time We're looking for a fulltime indoor cat so it won't be attacked/go missing etc.

Is it alright to have just the 1 if there is a person with it most of the time or should we still go for 2?

i had an indoor cat....i would recommend getting 2 since the cat cant be entertained with the great outdoors (and will get bored)....my mom is a house wife and she was home almost all the time but my cat still got bored sometimes...(my parents wouldnt allow me to get another cat...plus my cat didnt like other cats). at least if you have 2 cats they can entertain each other.

Looks like it'll be 2 and a lot of catnip then!

I read about some Atlanta shelter that rates cats' sociability on a 1-9 scale with cute names like "leader of the band" and "private investigator". The article didn't mention indoor/outdoor, but I would think the more relaxed cats would be better for indoors.

I actually put my cat out on a leash and rope, so that she can run around but not take off. That's something I worry about, since she was a stray that sort of adopted me. Also a good reason for having a mostly indoor cat. I tried to find her owner, but their SOL now. Of course I check on her every 15min or so, since she tends to get wrapped around anything vertical. If you start with a kitten, s/he'd probably take to it better than my cat did.
