I can pat my cockatiel like a dog or a cat.
He's super friendly, but will hiss, snap and become mini godzilla at anyone else.

no love for birds?

weaning refers to an animal no longer nursing ie feeding from a mammary gland.

Birds can't be weaned.

If I had the space and knowledge, I would want an owl. How fucking badass would it be to feed your owl live mice?

Me and my boyfriend's blue and gold. She's a cunt, but I can't blame her. The place I got her from shoulda been on animal cops.

Anybody have hyacinth or catalina macaws? When I settle down into life, I really want to raise one of these.

No, but when they're young they kinda need to feed from their mother or a specialized breeder via formula or vomit... And need to be fed like every 4 hours... And yeah that's something you don't want to deal with, you want them when they're an adolescent, not a baby.

OP here, like the above anon said, they have to be fed a formula when they are babies every few hours, and when they wean, they no longer want to eat it, and eat seeds and vegetables and the like.

Its the term breeders use, easier then"my handreared tiel no longer wants to be fed hanrearing formula and now eats proper food"

All green-cheeked conures look the same, so here's a pic.

My stepdad has one, and the bird is a fucking prick. He only lets me get near him if I come up from behind and scratch under his wings.

Kinda cool, though, he was born with a gimpy right wing so they never had to clip him.

Don't try to drag some kind of stupid specifics in here, weaning is what you call it. If you really want to get technical, I can argue that weaning has more than one definition and it DOES apply to weaning a baby bird off their handfeeding formula.

Faggot.

I love anon's macaws!
I would love one, but too much of a handful for me.
Its sad that if some uneducated person bought such a big and beautiful bird, stuck it in a small cage, fed it just seeds and then it develops problems, like feather plucking and screaming. They should require a liscense, like here in Australia.

Please do your research anon before you buy a bird!

Oh my god, that is awesome. ;_; Mind posting more of him / her like that? :D

I have good experience with birds, but they sure can be tough to raise.

Yes, for sure. I'm the one with the blue and gold, and it really sickens me when I think of how she was living before we got her. She was in a steel cage on the ground in a condemned house, no food or water, 6 inches of muck covering the entire bottom of her cage and she had no perch, so her balance was all fucked up from hanging on the sides all day.

Apparently she had a mate, but he died. I think the guy got them just so he could mate them and sell the babies.

Awesome catalina btw!!
