My mum just got a new puppy and we found out today that it has ring worm so I have a few questions,

how contagious is it?

and also my boyfriend and I just got a new kitten which lives at his house but if we get the ringworm (which we wont know for ten days because thats how long it takes to show up) will the kitten get it to?

any information about ringworm please

Ringworm is very contagious, and if you're not careful there's a good chance you and your kitten may get it too.

There are treatments you can get from your doctor/vet for it.. but yeah, in the mean time, wash your hands/shower a lot. Do not go to visit your mum until the ringworm's cleared up, if you can.. and if you have to, change clothes and shower immediately when you get home, before you hug the kitten. Same with your Mum, if she has to come over to your place, shower and clean clothes without touching the dog before she steps out the door.

Hope that helps a little, Anon.

the vet should have given your mom an ointment and/or a pill to control the pup's ringworm. Ringworm, in case you were not aware, is a fungus akin to athelete's foot and jock itch, and is highly contagious to other animals and to people. Yes, you can get it and carry it to the kitten. Should that happen, topical antifungals (like Lotrimin and others) for everyone.
