When my dog died I found it helped to think about the good times we had and not focus on how we couldn't have them anymore. I cried a shitload for months but I was smiling the whole time because he was just so darn cute and funny.

Buy another.

You get over it with time. I also agree with buying another if you are now dogless and like having them.

i wouldn't buy another right away.when my last cat died i waited about 6 months for a new one.

Doesn't have to be on the way home from the doggy cemetery. The new dog doesn't replace the old one but just becomes new awesome house monster.

Adopt one. Breeds have rescues, if you want a pure breed.
But do that when you're ready.

OP, is your chow's name Cowboy, by any chance?
>> Anonymous
Yeah it's better to wait at least a little while. You shouldn't replace your dog, but you should get a new dog for the sake of liking dogs.

It was a tiger and his name was Raja from the movie Aladdin. Way to fuck up your pet's name.

Ah, okay. You see, I used to know a 15-year-old chow named Cowboy. Looked just like you dog.

Anyway, I send my condolences.

Just wait. It gets better with time, and eventually you'll be left with bountiful happy memories and only a small little twinge of sadness. Don't get another dog until you are ready. It's best to get a dog because you want a dog, not to get one to comfort the loss of the previous dog.
