What does /an/ think of Bull Terriers? I've been in love with the breed ever since I was a kid, but I've never owned one. Are they good pets?

I have never read such a beautiful line. Truly, you are a master of the English language. Let us have a brief moment to consider the glory that is "dogs are bron knowing how to swim u can put her down ya know".

OP: Bull terriers are fine. Be prepared to have to deal with people deciding they are pit bulls and therefore dangerous.

I've always thought they were gorgeous dogs, myself. Someday when I have a yard, I may get one. :)

I myself have one and they are kinda very playful and hyper also they tend to want to nibble on you when they are pups so teaching them not too is better at the starting point if and when he/she does it.

I love bull terriers and one day I wish to own one myself but I have no time to devote to another dog.

due to the constant inbreeding of the species to maintain their unique face shape they usually end up with A LOT of problems - skin troubles, arthritis, cardiovascular problems, respitory problems - even problems chewing and swallowing food!!!

so be careful, find a great breeder with healthy dogs or it will cost you!

or than that, they're lovely dogs, can be very stubborn but very loyal. They are too strong and hyperactive to be around young children - they will get very possessive and defensive - and they fight to the death - so it's not a good idea to get one round a child

The term "pit bull" used to (and still does, in a lot of places) describe almost any bully breed, Bull Terriers included. Although the egg-shaped head was bred into them, not too terribly long ago they used to look like small Staffordshires (read: pit bulls).

They, too, were bred to bait bulls and bears the same way the Staffordshire was, and they have the same percentage of "bad" dogs in the crowd (which isn't really much). They can be very stubborn and do whatever they want to, and need firm, consistent training. I second the "no kids" rule.

Also, 139355 is right: "due to the constant inbreeding of the species to maintain their unique face shape they usually end up with A LOT of problems - skin troubles, arthritis, cardiovascular problems, respitory problems - even problems chewing and swallowing food!!!"
