hey /an/, does anyone know why a cat would suddenly bolt out of the room (and back sometimes) like something scared the crap out of him? He just yowls sharply like something scared him and bolts out full speed. Nothing i can see is around.

Pic is kittah.
In b4 ghosts and assorted invisible oddities.

Maybe something bit it, or it was chasing a mouse.

We don't have mice as far as i know, and i'm pretty much home all day, out building does pest control every few months, i haven't actually seen a bug apart from the odd mosquito that flies in the door.. He hasn't got fleas/ticks/mites either.

Cats are freaks and just do weird shit like that. Mine does it all the time, either he is bored, he thought he heard something, or hes messing with you.

he had a vet checkup just before we got him, he's fine apart from being a bit fat.

Maybe something related to the smells and sounds that cats can perceive but humans don't?

Do you live in a small place? I do, and my cat's one hell of a kitten although she's already over three years old. She loves running around, pretending to be scared, going all furry and puffy and making funny TSK-noise, then attacking me. She has actually run on the walls also, and wherever I go, I hear cats doing the same thing everywhere.

So, I wouldn't be too conserned, cat's are weird, they think it's funny to sprint around when you expect it the least.
