This question's for all you astronomy majors our there.

I have to write a short story about the stars and I need the name of a star that kind of... disapeers from Earth's view for a while, but comes back..

I will post cute puppies if someone can name a star. Or at least make one up that sounds convincingly enough like a star.

Uh...The sun?

(I dunno...My second guess was going to be Sanduleak)

What do you mean by "disappears from Earth's view"? You mean you want to know a star that can't always be seen from our solar system or something?
>> Anonymous

And someone should turn that fucker off, it's wasting energy.

OP probably meant a variable star like Algol.

To explain, Algol is a binary (actually there's 3, but 3rd one is dim) star that has its orbital plane perpendicular to earth. That means every once in a while they will eclipse each other, meaning the smaller star will be blocked from view by its larger neighbor.

Yeah, a star that appears and dissappears with the seasons, or maybe just in years.
