David Attenborough's films: great documentaries or greatest documentaries?

Personally, watching his older documentaries in high school is probably what made me decide to major in biology in college.

I thought he's pretty awesome. I too started liking animals and birdlife because of his shows.

There's another great show out there when it comes to the cimate of the earth, I belive its called:
Earth - The Power of the Planet.
Currently 3 parts and this too, can be found in HD.
Bottom line: If you like Planet Earth, watch Earth - The Power of the Planet.

David Attenborough is definitely great, though he could be a bit... special at times. I remember one episode about algae living in volcanic hot springs where David was standing in the water, he's wincing in pain "As you can see, the water is quite hot, yet these organisms have managed to forge an existance here". Even my biology teacher made fun of him for that one. God help him if he ever did a show with lava in it.

I owe my interest in the natural world to watching David Attenborough's Life on Earth as a kid. I liked all the usual stuff before, like dinosaurs etc that all kids are into, but Life on Earth was the first thing that actually made me want to study and learn.

If you like these also try:
Life of Mammals
Life of Birds
Life in the Undergrowth

I think the last episode of Life of Mammals is my favourite. It puts humans into a perspective.
