My dog. A mix, but of what, we're not sure, and I'm wondering if /an/ can help. My father bought him off of his landlord while on assignment in Hanoi, and all the landlord would say was "Oh, it's a Japanese dog!"

Apparently, dogs that look like him (a very smooth, mostly white coat that's almost water-repellant, with a long, blunt snout) are quite common in Vietnam and Burma/Myanmar.

Nearly all have very good physique (he is nearly 12 years old in this picture), and a very surly demeanor. He's openly hostile to anyone he doesn't consider to be in his immediate family. Towards family, though, he's the most affectionate, adorable dog you can have.

Does anyone have an idea as to what sort of breed mix he is? I'm thinking something along the lines of a Bijon Frise and a Shih Tzu (or maybe a Japanese Chin).

We've taken to calling him (and his cousins) "VC dogs" for their common personality and apparent distribution, but maybe /an/ could shed some light on his lineage.

His son, sired on our Shih Tzu on his first day at home. Our breeder cousin was outraged at the "violation", but we told her to shove it and kept him, giving away the rest of the litter.

The son took more after his mother, with a more high-maintenance coat and a (thankfully) friendlier disposition towards strangers.

Such an intense stare your dog has, perhaps because he recognizes an AMERICAN DOG FIT FOR KILLING.

But srsly, I'd bet on>>149683

Pic of a maltshit. Looks pretty simmilar to your dog, just without the trimmed face.

It's a sweet little mutt. There is nothing wrong with that. Don't apply designerdog labels to something that is perfect without them.
