Well, i got a kitten today. I repeatedly put it in the litter box i made, and it immediately walked out. I just found a pee spot in the corner of the house. The litter box is in a secluded place with plenty of privacy. How do i get it to use the litter box, and what should i do to clean the piss spot?

Pic is of the cat.

hmm, don't know about the litter box (dog person) but for the cat piss, you could try nature's miracle (gets rid of smell), found at petstores, maybe supermarkets. bleach might work too, depending on where spot is.

Keep trying.
Put the litter box closer totha place he chose.

Move the litter box to the spot that the cat pissed at (gets the cat used to the litter box), and really any carpet cleaner that's made for pet mess (that deodorizes)will work.

Put him in the box, make him dig around in it a little. If that don't work, move the litter box to a location closer to where he usually lurks until he gets used to it, then move it back to your prefered location.

If that fails, take any waste the cat drops off and put in the litter box. He will smell it and should figure out that is what the box is for.

Barring that, you can do what grandpappys around the world suggest, and rub his nose in it. Couldn't tell you if that would work or not.

Did you put the box right next to its food or water source? Is the litter the crystals, wood, paper or clay-type? Is it an electronic litter box?

All of these may play an important role. Cats won't crap where they eat and vice versa, they also may not like the kind of litter you give it. If it's electronic, the noise might scare the Hell out of it, etc.

FYI, OP's cat is a female

you should never use bleach products to clean cat wee,as they have ammonia in thier pee it smells like another cat has wee'd there. they will wee again to cover the smell.

What in the fuck are you talking about? Bleach does not smell like ammonia. Bleach is not even chemically close to ammonia. In fact, they are so not alike, if you mix the two together, there is a chemical reaction that produces toxic vapors.

I hope you are a fucking troll to be this goddamn stupid.

She is a dilute calico, which is basically just modified genes for red and black coloration. Both the gene for red and the gene for black (or, in this case, blue and tan) are carried on the X chromosome. However, only one color at a time can be carried on a single chromosome. Therefor, a cat must have two X chromosomes to have a calico color. XX = female. Sure, there are some XXY males, but it is very rare. Only one n two thousand calico cats are male due to this genetic anomaly. It is safe to say that OP's calico cat is female.

perhaps move the litter box to where she peed.

Is it recommended that you put the cat in the box? My kitten figured it out on his own.

If it helps: I used unscented Tidy Cat litter in a non-electric, open litter pan. Left kitten alone in a room with the pan. Success.

Keep putting it in the litter box. It takes a while for them to learn.
For the pee stain, get an enzyme-based stain remover from a pet store.

Sit on it.

seconding just keep putting her back in the litterbox and clean up the pee spot so she doesn't get in the habit of going there.

Usually mother cats will train their kittens to use a litter box, but if you seperate them too early, or have a dumb cat, sometimes not.

Move the box to where she prefers to piss, and keep putting her in it. There's not much you can do in the way of positive reinforcement to get her into the box, but post-piss rewards for using the box will keep her going back.

Cats generally don't respond well to negative reinforcement, so avoid rubbing their nose in it, swatting at them, or yelling. It'll just make them avoid you altogether.

OP here. Thanks for all the comments, the cat used the litter box this afternoon.

Also, yes, the cat is female.
