Baby cobra are so cute, if we can surgically remove their poison gland would they make good pets?

that'd be cruel and horrible.

u gonna eat that?

Baby snakes do not make great pets. They're hard to keep alive and they're usually pretty nasty.

Cobras - once they get used to you, do make good pets. Certain species get particularly mellow, and won't even hood up when they see you. This is when you wrap them around your head and walk into a crowd - cause they WILL hood up for that, and strike at other people... the crowd will part before you like the red sea for whats-his-name.

Note that we mean surgically remove it with general anesthesia. it will feel no pain.

Cobras only flare their hood when they're gonna strike.

No, when they're frightened.

Anesthesia on reptiles is very risky. The difference between an effective dose and a lethal dose of anesthetic is very small, and is also extremely difficult to determine.

Feed them pre-killed, dumbass.

Even if they don't have fangs, they'll still bite it though.

Here's what you do. Buy a hognose snake and tell everyone its a cobra. If you're a good liar, eventually you'll believe yourself.

venom in snakes does more than just immobilise their prey. it also acts as a digestive aid. creating venomoids is generally frowned upon for several reasons.
A: as stated it isn't good for the snakes long term health due to digestion problems
B: venom glands can partially regenerate leading to a false sense of security
C: if you can't keep hots, then don't butcher the snake to make it so you can.
D: it makes the snake look like shit, the venom glands fill out the sides of their back jaw, w/o them they get a caved in sunken look
