"THIS giant spider skin has left workers at an oil refinery terrified.

The skin belonged to world’s largest spider – and now staff fear the deadly creature is on the loose in their workplace.

The goliath bird-eating spider, which grows up to 12 INCHES long, shed the skin after becoming too big for it.

Danger lurking ... the refinery

Danger lurking ... the refinery

It is now feared the rat-sized creature is prowling around the ConocoPhillips plant in Scunthorpe, Lincs.

One worker said last night: “The skin has really creeped me out. I keep thinking the spider is scuttling about.”

Someones pet at home probably molted, and they brought the skin into the factory to make it look like there is a tarantula on the loose. On another note, my Grammostolea just molted last night and is now 1" bigger. :)

Haha stupid ass people. "deadly" Not too sure about that..

I've thought about taking an exuvium to work and leaving it somewhere before..never did it though. That's not the whole thing in the picture..maybe part of it is still stuck on the spider. T. blondi are notorious for having molting issues.

Just depends on the individual spider, each has their own temperament.

>Its bite could prove fatal to the sick or elderly

Then it's fortunate England doesn't employ horrendously sick people or OAPs to work in its oil refineries, right?

Someone post that picture of the huntsman spider with all her babies.

Unless you're severely allergic the biggest threat is the potential infection you'd get from having their big dirty fangs punch holes deep into your flesh.

Goliaths in general are fairly aggressive. They don't go hunting down and pouncing on people or anything like that but they can't see for shit so they can't axactly differentiate between a hand and a hand-sized meal.

We should all call their newsdesk and report spider sightings
