Bearded dragons are relatively easy to care for and take handling well. While I've heard that some bite, I've handled mine since he was weeks old and he has never bitten anyone in all of his life and doesn't mind sitting on my shoulder, or, if you don't want reptiles in your hair, merely being held.
Bearded dragons can be intimidating to some because they're all spiky and can grow to two feet, but they're not even sharp and they have very alert, curious, and passive personalities. My beardy likes snuggle in things, arm wave, and lick fingers.
If you're considering getting a beardy, go for it, they make great pets. Make sure to research a lot and properly first. They need special diets, heating and lighting requirements, that mammals don't. In return, they're not as messy as mammals.
