guinea pigs Anonymous
Dear /an/
Are guinea pigs good pets? About 2 months ago i bought my sister a hamster, and i am now looking into getting a small pet, but i wanted something bigger then a hamster. Is there anything important I need to know? or are they just like big hamsters? Also should i keep it separate or go for two? (cant get a rat, my mother is deathly afraid of them and would never come in my house if I bought one)

Don't use the store brought cages, they're far to small. Check out http://www.guineapigcages.com/

No, if you make sure it gets lots of attention from you and other family members. They're very friendly, so make sure you give them lots of attention anyway.

Something else to note, a lot of guinea pig books I read when I first got pigs said not to hold your guinea pigs for a week or two after you get them. Disregard that - it's how you end up with unfriendly pigs who do not like to be held.

thanks alot, that was my main concern, about getting a cage big enough for two pigs. I dont have that kinda room in my small house.
