Collies Anonymous
Hi /n/! What do you have to say about collies? I'm thinking aout getting a smooth collie, and any information is welcome.
I have of course sought out some of the basic information, but I'd like to know more.
What kind of nature do you think they have? Are they healthy? How long do they live on avarage?

My mom has a friend who raises shelties, they are really active dogs, but they're good around kids and, like most herding dogs, have the "kill" instinct bred out of them, but retain the "chase" instinct. In other words, they like to herd cats, children and other things. When we were kids, our parents would leave us in the yard and the dogs would keep us confined to an area. They like to play a lot.

Border collies are one of my favorite dogs. One thing I have heard is that collies sometimes get overwhelmed if there is a lot happening at once. As they are herding dogs they are bred primarily to focus on a single complex task so if there is a lot going on it can get to them and make them more nervous than a lot of other dogs get.

That's is interesting to know. I still don't know if I'm going to live in a city or at the country in future, so I'm wondering how they manage in a city?
