My sister had one. He stunk, but no worse than a guy does. Or at least the fat bastards around here. We kept the smell pretty contained by keeping his sleeping pen in one room and washing his sleeping material at least once a week. Though they're not really litter box breakable, at least not like a cat. You gotta put the litterbox where they go so that they actually go there. I don't see where they're any harder to take care of than cats, dogs, or children. Truthfully, if you ever plan on having kids, a ferret will be a good testrun. They do get into everything, they smell, and they're hyper as hell. The ferret has the bonus of staying small and being furry and cute.
