so just moved and was wondering about the chip in my cat. How can I get it updated with my new address and contact information? Is it something the local humane society does and does it cost?

Your vet should be able to give you the info you need to get it changed. Most of the time it just takes a phone call to the company that runs the database, but you'll need to know who that is and what the chip's number is. It won't cost anything, unless your vet charges you for the office visit.

You dont get the info in the chip changed, it just holds a number. The company that sells the chips kees the records of which chip belongs to which person, it's them you need to contact.

I don't want my cat to be chipped, ever. Those things can cause violent cancerous tumors. I'll rather take the chance that she loses her collar and whoever finds her is too retarded to look for a tattoo.

Alot of places dont give you a choice. I got him from a county animal shelter in atlanta when he was maybe 6 to 8 weeks old and he was already chipped. When I picked him out as they were ringing up the cost of the shots he had had etc they were like oh and he is already chipped that cost 20$.

my cat went missing for a year and 2 months.he has been chipped and i got him back in the end thanks to the chip.he was about 30 miles away from home, the vets said it could have been a removal van that took him that far.Ive never had any bad experiences with the chip.
