So, my dad found some strange rocks in a river the other day. Looks like melted metal got poured into water or something. Anyone know ways to identify metal? I can't figure it out. I don't have a picture of it.
If you can't provide a photo, then we can't help, its that simple.
Hold a magnet up to it, see if it sticks. Also weigh it, then see how much water it displaces. Divide the first by the second and get the density.
yeh will need a picture.. also try scratching it with some stuff like a nail or a peny or a piece of glass. and document what scratches and what doesn't .. and get the density like that other dude said.with a picture, specific gravity(density) and hardness you can prolly narrow it down by what minerals are in it
Yep, it's wood.
OP here.I don't have a camera available, in the next few days I'll probably come back and ask again with pictures.I'll try weighing it soon as well. I was mainly wondering if there are any webpages with information and stuff. Thanks.
If you get bored, post this in /x/ and see what kind of crackpot theories they come up with.
Op again, actually, found a camera, just digging out some batteries, hold up for pictures. Also, no scale available. Nail scratches it, we'll try more.
Oh wait, the nail was scraping stuff off, it won't scratch most parts, the nail kindof writes on it. It's a galvanized nail btw.
What color are they?
>>233576Rust colored, brown and grey and stuff. I'm getting pictures from a cell phone of them it'll be a few minutes.
Strap them to your feet and jump in a lake.If you float, you're a witch. If you drown, you're not.
Op here,Heres a picture of one of them.
Another.
And that's all I got.
What's their power level read on the scouter?
Are/were there any mines around where they were found?
My dad says there was a Manganese mine about 20 miles away from there, but it never got off the ground and failed in the 20's. Also, it was in the Iron Oxide layer. I dunno much about that though. My dad thought it might help.
looks like doodoo.
Hey, OP, in what region do you live?
>>233599Western Washington.
