Hey guys, I got a two gallon fishtank. It has a thing that keeps the water filled with Oxygen and a simple cleaner. But algae is still starting to form on the gaint rock I put in there and the walls.

How often should I clean a two gallon fishtank?

What are you keeping in the tank? If you have anything living in there, you never "clean" the tank entirely, you change the water to keep the nitrate level down, which means algae won't have waste to nourish it. If you change the water completely, you'll mess up your biological filtration and hurt your pets, so the best thing to do is just start doing water changes, and wipe the algae off with something that hasn't been used with any type of soap or chemicals. You should do a water change every week, since you're trying to kill off algae, change about 50% of the water a week (not hard with a 2 gallon) and once things are under control, 10-20%/week.

Japanese fighting fish

It was my sisters, but after it killed her goldfish she got pissed off and gave it to me instead.

I would put other things in there, but it'll kill those too

If your fish won't kill it, you should get an algae eater or "sucker" of some sort. It may help with the algae problem.

Depending on the temperment of the Betta, adding in a little Oto Cat (the previously mentioned algae eater) may simply wind up in the death of the window-licker.
And if your sister is not bright enough to realize that Bettas are NOT! I repeat, NOT a fish that like company, well...
More good information on Bettas found at http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showforum=5

I think you have a tank with either a filter or an airstone, but is not too clear. Check out the newbie section in the fish forums for more info.
