hamsters should be removed from their mother no earlier than 4 weeks of age unless she begins attacking them or getting seriously violent.

info for your new pet: dwarf hamsters live on average 2-3 years. hamsters should be taken to the vet at least once in their lifetime, just to make sure they're okay, as they often develop cancer and skin issues.

visit www.hamsterland.com for all the info on hamsters from feeding to breeding to medical care, etc.

A 2 square foot cage should be enough. Make sure to place plenty (1.5 - 2 inches) of bedding and place some wooden chew sticks around. Toss a toy or two in there. I prefer wooden since rodents tend to chew their toys and plastic may be harmful. DO NOT USE PRESSURE TREATED WOOD, IT WILL KILL THEM. By the toys at a respectable toy store. I prefer unpainted, but pre-painted (store bought) should be fine. Feed him a good palm-full of hamster mix (seeds and stuff) every 2 to 3 days. CHECK THE WATER DAILY. Clean the cage once every 1.5 weeks.

I've had dwarf hamsters for about a decade. They are easy to care for but need attention once in a while. Play with them gently every once in a while.

1. They're nocturnal, expect a shitload of sound when you sleep.
2. They smell. alot
3. Not very affectionate, (biting etc)
4. One per cage. dont think that they'll get lonely because hamsters are territorial and will kill anything that enters its cage

I guess thats it
not sure if OP is a troll or not

thanx.
I was allso wondering if I could make my own hamster food at home?? And if shredded newspaper is okay for bedding?? Im kind of low in funding right now :/

Avoid shredded paper like newspaper or computer paper, its not very absorbant and ink messes with them. Also, avoid cedar chips. Somthing about their pee mixing with the ceder produces some sort of harmful reaction? They have some other wood chippings and (safe paper) stuff at most stores. Its pretty cheap actually. And they make a LOT of noise at night and love to dig around. So if you are light sleeper I'd avoid getting one.

No. Meat and dairy are an important part of a hamster's diet.

I had a hamster, and they don't eat meat. At all. They eat grains, along with some fruits and vegetables.

I would suggest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamster or other websites about hamster care because the information you get here could be harmful to your pet..
