I'm Considering Buying a Boa Anonymous
I know this pet shop that'll sell me one for $130. But anyway. I want to know everything. I just know that I feed them a rat every week. I think that's pretty neat. But besides that. I think that if there's anything you should let me know about BOA's that you should tell me now. I already know they get pretty big. I just want to know anything else.

Show them affection. If you don't they get pissed and bite you every time you put your hand in the cage.

If it is your first reptilian pet then don't get one.

Try buying a ball python or a corn snake. They are alot easier.

Basically you just need a heatpad(to keep them warm, its pretty much the best way to keep them warm. No heat rocks or heatlamps), proper bedding that won't cause any harm to your snake, a proper tank, water so they can soak in it and well. Not much. But you should learn alot more before you get one.

Also. They tend to be not really active, and can become pretty pissy when they are about to shed.

If you're gonna stick it up your ass to massage your prostate...be sure to ducktape its mouth shut. Lube is definitely a plus!

AND

Make sure that the animal you get is captive bred, and $130 doesn't sound expensive enough for a captive.

Wild caught animals come with ticks and mites and probably internal parasites. It'll be miserable, it won't eat, etc. Don't waste your money.

Depends on the species, there are a few that even captive bred, go for less than 100$

Listen to this guy, he knows what he is talking about.

Do a lot more research 1st and if you want a snake get a ball python or corn snake like he said they are usually very docile, also getting a juvenile is best as well so you can raise it correctly and get it used to what ever you will be feeding it, if you get an adult you don't know what the previous owners did to it and it may be picky about what it will eat.

Yeah.
Boas can get really pissy about eating and if they aren't happy, they might not eat for over a month.
Its worse with wild caught ones, but sometimes even the captive ones get pissy when it comes to eating.

I'd like to point out that a defensive strike, where a snake bites and lets go, is completely different from a potential food-item related bite, where a scent on your hand causes a snake to wrap you and not let go.

Work with reptiles for a living moar, plzkthx.

to the person who wants a python, you are are ingnoring the real facts here. You have no idea what it takes to take care of a python nor do i think you have that facilities to sustain one. You just want one b/c you think it would be cool and then whoops it gets to big and ends up in a dumpster. So think twice before you get another pet b/c you think it's cool.
