Does anyone else feel guilty about "disposing" of household pests?
>> Anonymous
I get the spring traps. At least that way they die fast instead of a prolonged death in sticky traps
>> Anonymous
I only feel guilty because I use humane traps, and then use the garbage disposal.

Lol, jk.

No guilt.

We had sticky traps outside my apartment building, and I lived up on the third floor and still heard the damn rats screaming for days. I came home from work one day and saw that several had gnawed off legs and paws.
What our pest control did was sit down the sticky traps, wait a few days, then light them on fire. Shit stank, and rats screaming was not cool.
I usually just catch them and throw them out, and keep my apartment clean to keep the fuckers out. I lay out spring traps if it gets bad.
>> Anonymous
I do, just because they only come into my house in the winter and when the swamps flood. This only goes for mice and rats.
If it doesn't take much effort and my cats don't get a hold of them, I'll catch them myself and release them away from my house.

Ants are killed on sight. Moths and flies I'll sometimes lay off if they aren't bothering the fuck out of me. And I'll let spiders live if I don't catch them crawling on me.

I heard silverfish are good, but they freak me out to much to let them crawl around with me knowing.

At first, I had my cats taking care of my mice problem. Unfortunately, the only ones that mouse couldn't catch them all before a second generation sprang up.

Now the young mice are raiding my pantry, but are too little to set off the spring-loaded traps I deployed. After cleaning the piles of mouse droppings off the shelves, I found their hole and left a glue trap below it.

I expect a few to be stuck in it tomorrow morning.

They're not good... They eat through fabrics and glue including book bindings. That being said, you need to be completely overun before you need to worry about your carpets and books falling apart.

No guilt at all. Although I admit I can't kill the mice trapped in the sticky trap, my dad is the one who takes care of them by putting them inside a bag and squash them with his shoe.
>> OkasenLuny !3GqYIJ3Obs
Sorry about the nagging, but you know what? I feel like it. So stfu all complainers. (just a preemptive argument)
How the mother fucking hell do you sleep at night knowing you killed something? they have feelings. They feel pain. How the hell would you feel if some asshole glued you in a trap and killed you. Do you think they know they're stealing somebody's food? And do you know how much of a nuisance asshole humans are? These mice lived here first before you got your nice fancy house built where they live. And if you'd clean your damn house you wouldn't have a rodent problem. And how would you feel if you were killed solely for existing? You people make me sick.

I hope that everyone who uses mousetraps get's their privates stuck to a sticky trap/ in a spring trap. Then I will laugh, and laugh, as you castrate yourself, and then fling you into my fireplace while I watch you burn slowly, throwing rat feces. Then before you die I will save you and let you recovered for three years. AND THEN I'LL DO IT AGAIN!

Ahem. Sorry about that.

That said, I don't think there's a mouse trap in existence that would cause enough pain for the little pieces of shit. I'd love to make one that gives them hours of searing nerve pain so I can hear them squeak in nightmarish terror as I fall into beautiful sleep.
>> Masterwork Bastard !wl59mComes
After a few of those fuckers come in when it's cold, crawl into your cloth drawer, make a nest in your best pants, rip them to shreds and shit and piss all over everything, you kinda don't care about how the mouse feels.

Besides, the traps I use leave them no time to feel anything. No regular mouse traps, it's like a box with goddamn powerful jaws. Like small rattraps. They almost snap the fuckers in half. And it hits them right behind the skull. So yeah, they kick once or twice and then it's all over. Takes less than a second, really.

On a sidenote, I view pet rodents favourable and am looking to get a few rats. It's the pests that piss me off.

Wow, you seem to know your shit. How about when the fuckers come in when it's cold during winters? I guess you live in a city and have never had any pest problems. You know what's it like to wake up in the night when there's fucking RATS crawling in your walls? Do you? Do you know what's it like when the same fucking rodents destroy your property? Do you have ANY idea how fucking AGGRAVATING it is to clean up rodent feces from your floor?

Take your cutesy cute "Animals are people too!" -bullshit elsewhere.

While I use the normal spring traps, I think the glue trap is just too cruel. If you don't collect fast enough, you can see they tried to tear their own skin off or gnaw their limbs in order to escape.

Sure, they're vermin and they should be eradicated, but I suspect if I was on the end of being eradicated, I'd like it with as little pain and agony as possible.

When I do have the time for it, I get the live traps out and kill them with CO2 poisoning.
>> Masterwork Bastard !wl59mComes
>>253980

I agree with that. There's no need to agonize them. Fast death and that's it, nothing else to it.

No, I think cities have houses that generally don't suck and let rats, mice and squirrels come and go as they damn please.

I own about 16 mice as pets currently, and I love them to pieces, as well as they wild counterparts.

Humane traps work well, and I release them in the woods about a mile away. We've only ever had the rare, light mouse problem though.

If it was truly bad, then yes, they would need to die. I think spring traps would be the best though, as it is a quick death. Although that runs the risk of them not being killed right off and suffering with a broken spine or something.

Poor things.
I feel bad killing anything really, if I have to (ants, bee's etc) I try to do it quickly and painlessly, I feel so awful if I see them flailing around half-killed.

I'm a pansy ;_;

They come in when it's cold. The people on the first floor own many cats, so they immediately move to the second floor where I am.

I catch them in the most humane ways, if possible -- I have a tall trash can and they always get in it. I just leave it half-full until I hear something. Then I throw a towel over it, carry it to a bathtub (with a few inches of water), and bang on the back until they jump out.

I let them swim for a couple minutes. This tires them out enough that they aren't lightning fast and don't go bouncing around all over the damn place or try to bite.

They can then be easily lifted, placed in an aquarium, and lidded without them jumping out.

I've tried keeping them, but it's futile -- they're wild, and they'll just escape the second you open the lid. Also, they'll spend the entire day attempting to escape, which is horribly noisy.

I usually just release them into a field.
Only if there's a bunch of them do I lay out spring traps.

I let the daddy long legs live as long as they arent near my bed or food

mice get tossed
>> Masterwork Bastard !wl59mComes
>>254194

I let them live until they get cocky and stand on the door handle when I try to get out. Then I tell them to move. If this doesn't work, I count to three and proceed to maim them to death.
>> Anonymous
Killing mice doesn't get rid of them because more are just going to come in. You have to make it so that they can't get in and don't particularly want to.

Once you've done that, it's just a matter of getting rid of any that are still in your house. Humane traps are great because you don't get dead rotten mice lying around, and there's no way they can find their way back to your place if you take them even like a block away.

I feel guilty every time some one sets a trap in my house.
One time i found a live mouse stuck in a trap. His leg was crushed and couldn't escape. I opened the trap and put him in a container that's 20inches tall with some food and water. After 3 days his leg (which was snapped in half) had completely healed enough to jump to the top of the container. I had a lid on it so he didn't escape. Then I took him out to the barn, thew some of the kibble which he had been feeding on, and released him.
One month later I noticed someone had placed rat poison in the barn....I felt so bad after that.

As an update, I ended up with three stuck in the glue trap almost immediately after all the lights were switched off downstairs. None for the rest of the night. I gave them an instantaneous death and threw the trap + mice corpses away.

Tonight, two more are stuck in a second trap.

One of them is a baby smaller than my thumb. I kinda feel like a bully now, but I spent a few too many hours cleaning up the mess they made of my pantry to spare them.

I tried to save a mouse caught in a glue trap at my grandfather's place when I was a little kid. I remember getting it off, but only about half its skin, and it making a tiny scream before it died.

On a semi-related note, I keep a couple semi-large carnivorous reptiles and a few years back my regular pet store, which used to gas its pre-killed feeders, was sold to someone else. The new owner apparently didn't hear I asked for pre-killed mice and handed me a double paper bag containing a dozen live mice... I sent him back and 5 minutes later he comes back with the same double bag, crumpled, with blood seeping through. I take it and leave.

Halfway home I hear a faint scratching, peer inside, and out jumps this angry-looking hunchbacked motherfucker covered in blood, with drying blood coming from his nostrils and ears and a raw socket where his left eye used to be.

I decided to keep him as a pet out of respect for his badassery but never managed to get him to wear the eyepatch I made for him. He only lasted about 3 months, though. He pushed the screen off the tank I was keeping him in and I found him a day later sitting on a shelf staring me in the face with his one good eye, but he fell ill and died the day after. I think he ate something toxic.

glue traps are fun. i like to bait them with some tuna. it brings those fuckers out of the wood works to get it. i set it out at lunch, come back and i got three just sitting there ripping their skin off trying to get away....anyways, i pulled out my hatchet and chopped off their heads....one wasn't lucky because i got distracted by a fellow coworker and chopped him in half. the other two were pretty quick though.

My cat takes care of my rat problems. I only wish she takes care of the leftovers. While I appreciate the gesture, i kinda find breakfast in bed is not a good idea when the cat is making the breakfast.

Also for>>253885
Okasenluny, you're a fucking retard. While pet mice are good, pest rats have been known to cause plagues. If i catch a couple of live rats, i'll be sure to send them over to your house to colonize.

PS. I do find pleasure in setting trapped mice on fire. Their squeaks of pain is music to my ear.

We back up to a farm, so we get a lot of field mice. I've found that, to some extent, putting food like birdseed or old candy in the crawlspace (we don't have a basement) keeps them from coming into the actual house. They don't like dealing with people if they can avoid it, so as long as there's food and a warm place to sleep, they'll stay out of your hair.

I can't seem to find glue traps around, i just want the fuckers out of my house.

I blocked one entrance behind the dishwasher and finally managed to block another one they made after i blocked the first. Whoever designed the fuckin kitchen before i bought the place can suck my dick.

Terrible house design and easily accessible by mice. I've spent a week just sealing off most places.

Any ausfags know where i can get glue traps? Spring traps NEVER work for me. They always get set off, but never catch anything.

There are these new traps i found by a pest company which has are like a circular case. The mouse enters is killed inside and essentially 'stored' with an indicator telling you the traps has been set off. Then you just pick em up and toss em.

I've poisoned too, that seems to have worked quite well.. i do have to clean up the bodies. Which is cool.
