Damn it, why can't mythical and movie animals be real?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see gigantic beasts running around.

For your consideration: the Giant Unicorn, Elasmotherium. Thought to have gone extinct about 100 000 years ago, but still clearly described in the local folklore and the journal of an Arabic traveller. Possibly even the origin of all unicorn myths.

fuck yeah, woolly rhino.

Whoever said it was right, we're living in a biologically-impoverished time. The mega-fauna, the great beasts like the Elasmotherium, the mammoth, Megatherium, Smilodon, Andelgolornes, Glyptodon... I would kill to see them alive. To say nothing of the dinosaurs, the great aquatic reptiles, Megalodon, Basilosaurus, Dunkleosteus. Fuck, all we have today are whales and elephants.

We'd figure out a way to herd them onto an island, just in time for aliens to take control of them and have a world tour of destruction before we free the monsters and a mighty kaiju smackdown ensues.

They are real.

If mythical and imaginary animals were real, we'd just think of them as curious freaks of the animal kingdom, nothing really special, maybe worth a thread on /an/ every blue moon. Near-mundane creatures like unicorns couldn't hope to ever become as popular as giant isopods or mantis shrimps.
