My cat with diabetes got hypoglycemic and had a seizure, so I'm giving him maple syrup to raise his blood. I'm also going to take him to the vet. I think he lost his eyesight, but is it temporary or just for a while? Also, is there anything else I need to do to treat him?

Your vet will know what to do. Maple syrup is .. certainly one way to get some sugar back in him, but I'm sure your vet has a more appropriate supplement, and at-home treatment tips.

But he's right. Go to the vet. OFF COMPUTER. GO.

Hmm, looks like I have competition. I accept your challenge.

probably an amp of D5W would do the trick, though I really have no idea what the metabolic or fluid administration rates for a cat are.

Kick it until it gets better.

Are you sure it's hypoglycemia? While it can happen with hypoglycemia, seizures and severe vision disturbances are more common with severe hyperglycemia and ketoacidosis- at least in humans.

If it's hyperglycemia, then OP's cat is as good as dead now.
