Scientific name? 'Corpse flower' is usually applied to Amorphophallus titanum, Rafflesias, and occasionally stapeliads. That is none of these.

OP is Monotropa uniflora, known as Indian Pipe, Ghost Plant, or Corpse Flower. It's a non-photosynthetic plant that lives by leeching nutriants from a mycorrhizal fungus. It's found aplenty further north, but so close to town I was surprised to find it.
