Shiba Inu Anonymous
I am interested in getting a Shiba Inu at some point, and just wondering if anyone has any experience with these dogs. Are they difficult to train? High energy, how attention demanding?

Fucking evil and high strung.
Unless you have time to deal with a stubborn dog that thinks its better than you, stick with a mutt.
Also, if you are an experianced dog handler. I wish you luck.

They're very high energy, need lots of exercise, aggressive towards strangers and other animals, will escape given the opportunity, require attention from you or other animals, and are fucking geniuses compared to most dogs.

That's all of course unless you train it rigorously. Takes lots of time and effort, more than most people can handle. And if you don't keep it occupied, it WILL gladly run away from you.

Basically avoid the breed unless you're up to the task.

A family friend has a Shiba and he is the sweetest dog ever, hes 7 years old and around 20-30lbs. His fur is soooooo fucking soft, I thought my corgi was soft but this dog takes the cake. I didn't notice any arrogance or anything like that.

My neighbor used to have a Shiba Inu. She was VERY active and she got out a lot, but she was trained pretty well and easily.

she was a very sweet, affectionate, and playful dog, and she had no problem interacting with other people or animals. (My dog often ran out to play with her--they both had a grand time)

She wasn't arrogant or anything...though she could have been an exception. If you want a Shiba Inu make sure you get along with the individual dog you choose.

My neighbors across the street had one. He got out ALL the time. Smart as fuck too. He would move shit to use to climb the fence. He also had a bit narcissistic.
