No, I'm serious. Look up information on bamboo life cycles. Every seven to ten years or so, the bamboo dies off and regrows, as a self-regulating mechanism. This happens with or without pandas. In fact, when the bamboo naturally dies off, most pandas in the area also die, either because they are too stupid to move or can't move because of human industry cutting off their routes to new bamboo forests. Also, they are too stupid/fat/lazy to find another source of food... which they could physically do, since they are built to be carnivores (yes, they are classified as carnivores). That's why they have to eat so much goddamn bamboo in the first place, because their digestive systems are not best suited to eating that shit.
Also, considering how rare this piece of shit is in the wild, I would say that their ecological impact on bamboo is pretty fucking close to nil. Even if bamboo overgrowth were actually a problem, the bamboo rat does it much more efficiently than the giant panda does. And they can fuck without watching porn.
