sup /an/
i just found this bird outside, some kid must have left it there after playing with it.
i dont want to let this die in my hands, so what should i do? (not calling a wildlife rehabiltator, it's too fucking far)
>> Anonymous
op here

can anyone identify the bird?
>> Anonymous
i think that's a dog...
>> Anonymous
it was probably trying to learn how to fly and its parents were most likely around, waiting for you to leave.

put it back.
>> Anonymous
Aww, poor little splay-baby :( You can try seeing if it will eat commercial bird seed, or buying nightcrawlers from bait stores and mush them up for it to eat.

Make sure it has a water dish, too. You may have to dip the birdie's beak in the dish to get it to learn that there's water there, but it should get the hang of it.

also i think its a morning dove.
>> Anonymous
it's a baby morning dove. keep it warm and dry with a heating pad. THEN TAKE IT TO A WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CENTER!...or just watch it die u lazy ass

>>272863
Same poster- You can also teach it to fly fairly easily if you're not going to put it back where you found it. Just gently toss it at your couch or straight up. It will instinctively flutter and should get the hang of it fairly quickly.

location? and where did you find it
also, take to vet
it could be some burd that fell from its nest

the bird was near my doorstep and i did not see any nests around. maybe the kid carried it from a far distance?

i found a bird place that might take it, but it's closed.

what should i feed it for the day that it'll be here?

Step on its head.. I used to live on a chicken farm and we'd have to cull baby birds like that, with its legs flayed. It was some genetic abnormality or something that can't be cured. Just put the thing out of it's misery.
>> Anonymous
Put the damn thing back outside. You're not a beautiful healer or a bird whisperer. Let nature be. God dammit.
>> washer
unfortunately you probably should kill the poor thing. especially if he smells like people. mother birds do not like the smell of people on their babies and they will push it back out of the nest. sorry man.

you need to get that back to its nest asap so it doesn't smell like humans
>> Anonymous
You guys really need to be told that, well, birds don't smell... Ah fuck it, it's too late for truth.

Are you fucking retarded? Google "bird sense of smell," you lazy, dumb fuck.

op here

many of you need to take reading comprehension. i already said:
>the bird was near my doorstep and i did not see any nests around. maybe the kid carried it from a far distance?

anyway, i freaking drove the dove 15 miles to a 24 hour wildlife place

i hope its fine

I like to hear about people like you.

you fucked up

do not screw with fledgling (feathered but young) birds, they are meant to spend some ground time. the parents will still take care of them.

stupid OMG BABY MUST TAKE CARE OF DA CUTE BABY instincts.
>> Anonymous
Yep, morning dove. Probably the only type of bird I've seen that's even more stupid than a chicken. There were a bunch of fledglings all over the ground here about a week ago. Then one of the neighborhood dogs(a Golden Retriever) came over to me to say hi, saw the birds, and began swallowing them whole. Good dog. :3
>> Anonymous
OP is a fucking retard.

"r u guys stupid omg i told u i didn't see any nests"

Hey dumbass THE NEST COULD BE HIDDEN WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE IT.

Kudos on not continuing to be a dumbass and driving O M G -15- MILES!?!?!?11/ to drop it off somewhere where people know what the fuck they're doing. Fucking 15 miles is like a 30 minute car ride...lazy jackass.
>> Anonymous
>>272967
Only 15 minutes if he's going 60mph. :D
>> Anonymous
Or one second in his V2 rocket if he goes at 15miles/second!!

I found a baby bird once and I left it alone like everywhere says. Next morning it was dead in my backyard... I felt horrible. Parents didn't help it after all.
>> Anonymous
>>273043
Guess what - it would've died if you had brought it in anyway. You know why a lot of times you find baby birds on the ground? When they're born sick or deformed, the mother doesn't waste her time on it, instead she pushes it out of the nest so it dies faster. That's when dumbasses like you prance outside and pick it up and think you're the fucking bird whisperer when you're just prolonging what nature intended.
>> Anonymous
Guys, it's a bird. Jeez.

>>273046
I wish humans did that to their children.

Fuck morals.

I agree, there's a fucking reason why we evolved to what we are now, if we let retards live and reproduce then who knows what will happen to our genes
>> Anonymous
It's a starling. Kill it.

It's a fledgling, obviously, but it's species kinda looks like it's a bigger bird. Maybe not a sparrow...maybe even a bird of brey? Like a turkey buzzard?

The bulb on it's beak plus it's larger than traditional size kinda makes me think that it'll grow up to be larger than your average sparrow.

Maybe a baby seagull? http://www.bearspage.info/h/tra/ca/bc/va/i/se/s301.jpg

Or maybe a baby pigeon?
http://www.thewildlifelodge.co.uk/photos/Baby%20Pigeon%20080308.jpg

The bulb makes me lean more towards a pigeon than the seagull idea.

Pigeons are super easy to raise, in that case. http://www.mixph.com/2006/05/how-to-raise-pigeons.html

shit loads of other google sites. Good luck, op!
