They and their eggs were tasty, so they were hunted by humans. Were a prey item of Hasst's eagle.

I recall learning in a museum in New Zealand that they laid one egg at a time and didn't bother guarding it because there were no natural predators that could break it and eat it. Then humans arrived. No more Moa eggs, no more Moa. Their eggs were the largest in the world. Now that they are extinct, ostrich eggs are the largest.

They were huge. The replica in the museum towered over me. I barley came up to the top of its legs. I'm 5'9"

They were around until fairly recently, about years ago.

We should clone them and have Moa farms. Hopefully their DNA isn't too aged and damaged to be extracted.
