I'm debating whether to get a Ball Python or a Carpet Python...They are kinda similar, but ball pythons seem to be slightly easier to care for. I have had corn snakes and king snakes in the past..
What does /an/ think?
Pic semi related, it's my current corn snake, Vishnu.

The ball python(royal python) is a notorious picky eater - they do starve to death quite often. Just get a boa - VERY easy snake

no get the ball python. They CAN be picky but its not THAT hard to quell. you can fix that right up, not that difficult. Ball pythons are friendly an easy to care for besides the eating (which again is easy to fix)

In that case then, what is a good type of boa to get? I have heard that some boas get quite snappy.

Boa constrictors get huge. They'll need a large cage eventually. The only boa I'd recommend is a Rosy Boa, because they're about the same size as a Ball Python, just less pig disgusting.

Get a Jungle Carpet though. Ball Pythons, morph or no morph, don't have shit on JCPs in terms of color. JCPs are easy as fuck to care for too. Just increase the humidity right before a shed. Anyone who tells you to keep them at a high humidity constantly is parroting shit information from generic websites. Do that, feed them, give them a heat pad/lamp, some branch to perch on, and you're done.

They look really nice in a cage, coiled up on a high branch in a position similar to a Green Tree Python. The black and yellow make them some of the best looking pythons. That's mostly the Jungles though. Coastals usually have a more subdued look to them, though they're still attractive.

Yes, Ball Pythons can be picky eaters... but Carpets can be even pickier, and are generally much more difficult, behavior-wise.

OP, if you want to make the jump from colubrid to boid, I would suggest a well-started, captive bred juvie to sub-adult Ball Python or BCC/BCI "Red Tailed" Boa. Some subspecies of RTB DO get quite large (10-16 feet), and that is a shitton of snake to handle if you're used to 5 foot colubrids... so Ball Pythons are probably your best bet... barring Sand Boas, Rosy Boas, and Rubber Boas, all of which are more colubrid-like than true boids.
