Well this is just a lovely start to the weekend...

Had to put our dog down (pictured) today. Over the course of the last week he had just gotten progressively worse and worse, a cough of his getting more and more frequent and harsh...and then yesterday he collapsed and we all thought he was a goner then, but we did the little Karo syrup trick (he was diabetic), and he perked up on the way up to the vet. Unfortunately that didn't last that long, as when I came home from work later that night, he was back to the way he was shortly after his collapse, just laying there panting up a storm and completely listless. He didn't even recognize when someone was interacting with him. It's not like it was a shock or anything, he was 13 after all, with a bevy of problems (enlarged heart, enlarged liver, fluid buildup in his chest)...but we thought he'd last for a little bit longer at least.

TL;DR, my buddy's gone :(

What was your dog's name?

Sneakers, it's even in the image name. He got it because the second day we had him home, he came walking out of my parents bedroom with a tennis shoe over his head, just walking around with it like nothing was off, and my mom just yelled out "Sneakers!" and he stopped and dropped it. The name stuck.
