Do you think wolves have a right to live? Or, at the very least, die painlessly?

Sarah Palin doesn't agree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T85cOGc8L0

So what's up with all the wolf shirts? Is everyone who I see wearing one a furry? Like it's some sort of club membership ID or something? They aren't being too creative.

Better question...
Do you believe Alaskans should starve because the wolves are eating all their caribou?

>what Governor Palin called a "science-driven and abundance-based predator management program" involving volunteers permitted to use aircraft to reduce the predator population in specific areas only.

>Gordon Haber is a wildlife scientist who has studied wolves in Alaska for 43 years. "On wildlife-related issues, whether it is polar bears or predator controls, she has shown no inclination to be objective," he says of Palin. "I cannot find credible scientific data to support their arguments," he adds about the state's rationale for gunning down wolves. "In most cases, there is evidence to the contrary."

>Last year, 172 scientists signed a letter to Palin, expressing concern about the lack of science behind the state's wolf-killing operation. According to the scientists, state officials set population objectives for moose and caribou based on "unattainable, unsustainable historically high populations." As a result, the "inadequately designed predator control programs" threatened the long-term health of both the ungulate and wolf populations. The scientists concluded with a plea to Palin to consider the conservation of wolves and bears "on an equal basis with the goal of producing more ungulates for hunters."

>Apparently Palin wasn't fazed. Earlier this year she introduced state legislation that would further divorce the predator-control program from science. The legislation would transfer authority over the program from the state Department of Fish and Game to Alaska's Board of Game, whose members are appointed by, well, Palin. Even some hunters were astounded by her power play.

the amount of wolf and moon shirts one owns is directly proportional to the pot one smokes.

Every time I learn something new about Palin, I end up hating her that much more.

If I had a magic bullet that could kill anywhere, anytime, Id strongly consider using it on this sorry excuse for a human being.

Sorry dude, I dont own a wolf shirt, so your theory is bunk.

Before you start talking about animal "rights" read Cohen's argument against animal "rights" and Peter Singer's argument for them. If you don't....well then i don't blame you. It's a long f------ read.

I am, by the way, for animal rights. Just thought I'd give you some background information on what you are arguing.

The fact that she's a hunter is one thing, but killing wolves...my favorite animals...just makes me RAGE so hard.

From a fucking plane. What chance do they have.
I hate cowards.

It has nothing to do with being afraid...Alaska is just really fucking big, and wolves are thinly dispersed, if you want to bag your limit of wolves (lol but who wants ruin their fun by counting) then you need to use an airplane, idiot.

It's called natural selection dumbfags. We are putting ecological pressure on wolves so that they become either (1) invisible from the air, or (2) can run faster than propeller airplanes.

This is all part of God's design; we have DOMINION over the earth.

God forbid it's your favorite animal! I guess it would be cool if it was an animal you hated right?

I'd actually prefer if they hunted the wolves on foot. Heck, I LOVE wolves and I'd be willing to do it. Just seems more awesome for everyone involved, including the wolves.
I doubt that any animal or human has a "right" to live but it is great if we get to die in a satisfying way.
It is important to keep in mind that maintaining the predator population at a reasonable level is important to sustain the herd, especially with how messed up the natural environment is. Ideally we do what we have to to keep the herds around and work to expand their territory so that we can leave the wolves alone at some point.

I don't really give a damn about wolves. Nature is a harsh mistress and it's their fault or investing all their evolution points in claws and teeth and not a bigger brain.

They're smarter than most Americans.

I was living in Alaska when the aerial wolf kill program started. The entire basis for it was "The wolves are killing all the caribou" which is much less likely than "All the villagers on their snowmachines with rifles are killing the caribou." A villager with those two tools is somehow still considered a "subsistence hunter" and is classed the same way we would an Inuit with a kayak and bone harpoon.

The point of all this is to kill off the indigenous predators so we can have all the prey animals. This same reasoning is why there are no barren plains grizzlies or wolves in most of the CONUS. Ranchers/hunters shot them all.

They'd be able to wipe out other species if they spent their points more wisely. It's all a game. In their defense, wolves possess traits that the top predator finds appealing and so the wolf lineage will survive in the form of domesticated dogs. Wild wolves should be thankful we allow them to exist.

Is anyone still surprised about how dumb she is? It took the cunt 6 years to get a Communications degree. Communications degrees are like a step below the High School level.
