Hi /an/

I want to ask a question about pets casting hair as the weather warms up. I've two pet cats, both girls, one fifteen and the other is three. They're both casting LOADS of hair at the moment and I seem to be constantly combing them to get rid of the old stuff.

I read that birds that are nesting now will pick up cast animal hair and line their nests with it. They don't mind the smell of cat/dog/whatever so long as the fur still isn't attached to the animal it came from XD ANYWAY, what i did was I collected up a pile of cat hair I'd taken from the comb each time they'd been groomed, put it in a baggie and collected it for a few days before putting the collected hair into an empty peanut feeder in the garden. The small birds LOVE IT!

Does anybody else leave pet hair outside for birds nesting material?

pic related, it's my youngest cat

we don't do it on purpose but i remember our huskies blowing their coats in the summer when i lived in michigan, and the sparrows and shit would always be flying away with huge tufts of white fur in their beaks
