How does one go about bathing a pet hamster? I have a pet panda bear hamster that i got on march 5th. We cleaned his cage and about 10 to 15 minutes ago. But the problem wasnt really the cage. The hamster himself smelled like shit D= and he had never smelled like that before. So how does one bath a hamster. Also while cleaning the cage a little bracket broke off that held his tube in place. Is it ok if we just crazy glue it back? will this harm the hamster at all?

A hamster shouldn't really have to be bathed, my hamster shits a lot but she doesn't ever smell bad. Perhaps you need better litter or a more ventilated cage.

You can bath any smaller rodent with a little warm water and baby shampoo (if you use a bowl instead of a cloth, never put a rodent in water that is past it's armpits). Don't squeeze or hold tight, just let him wander around and patiently put him back if he climbs out, soap up the water a little and don't put the soap directly on his fur or you'll be rinsing all day.

You can glue the piece back but then your hamster wouldn't have a cage for 24 hours while it dries, and then you would have to worry about fumes or the hamster chewing on it. Should probably just find a new type of bottle or way to attach it.

thanks for the help on the tube thing. On further inspection of my hamster, it seems he stepped into a poop pellet and it smooshed onto his fur. I brushed it out and hes smelling fine =D
