Last week I adopted a kitten. She's barely four months old and she is very timid around me but gets along famously with my cat.
Trouble is that for the past seven days my cat has been mooching off of the kitten's kibble. I know kitten kibble is not healthy for older cats, especially older cats who are a bit plump and sedentary due to being indoor cats.
So today I did a 180, swapped the kitten's kibble and put my cat's kibble in the dish.
Upset tummies aside, will this harm the kitten's growth and development by being put on adult food so fucking early? Keeping them separated is not an option since the kitten adores my cat and doesn't like being separated from her and since the kitten is timid of me, being food police really won't work since the kitten will never get a chance to eat.
Pic related, that's my kitten.

There's some weird black furry thing sitting on your kitten.

I would ask your vet. I don't think it would hurt your kitten too much, ie stunt it's growth or anything. You're probably right that the baby food will make your cat chubbier. The different types are just a little more focused to the needs of different animals.

When and how often do you feed them? I feed my cat only in the morning and at dinner time (because I know she would gorge herself if I left food out). If you have a similar routine you could try feeding them in separate rooms. It should put a stop to the mooching.

Put the kitten food in a place the big cat can't get to, such as behind a small opening. Put the cat food in a place where the kitten can't get to, such as on top of something.
