that is not a brown recluse
>> Anonymous
>>302737
It is, it looks like a variety I've seen here in Arizona. Cool little bastards, they run sideways, really fast.
>> Anonymous
Definitely brown recluse.

Also, they're flatter than a sheet of paper and have some good-working camouflage.
They're quite friendly, some even live in small groups..
Quite the extraordinary arachnid.

Yeah, I did notice that. Once it ran onto the rocks, I had trouble seeing it unless it moved. Had it stayed still as I walked past, I probably would not have seen it.

No way that's any species of Recluse Spider, it's most likely a Whip Spider (Genus Damon).
There are social species and species that are ready to cannibalize the shit out of their fellow whip spiders.

Why would you assume it's from a Genus native to Africa?
>> sonic.titan
>>303042

I didn't know the pic was made in AZ, so I assumed, basing my assumption on the look of the specimen, that it most likely was some Amblipygidae. Since the most common amblipygid spiders in captivity are Damon spp. I thought it might be some species of this genus.

Frankly, I didn't even know that a Tailless Whip Scorpion existed.

Order Amblypygids = "Tailless Whip Scorpions" = "Cave Spiders" = "Whip Spiders"

...they're not actually spiders or scorpions.
>> sonic.titan
>>303055

I know they're not actually spiders, but old habits die hard.

This is actually a brown recluse.
