Seriously, who the fuck can honestly say they would not cringe at the thought of one of these crawling up your leg?

Centipedes are my worst fear. I have no idea how people can just pick them up.

They're sure as hell scarier than spiders, that's for sure.

I hate the really speedy, really flat ones with the wide leg spans. I have them all over my house and they run like motherfuckers.

... I really don't know how you can put up with that .. Do they ever get into your bed?

No, they're mostly in the basement, though I saw one on the main floor today. I don't think they can climb very well, these ones.

You don't want to get bitten by an scolopendra spp. of centipedes

but I'm going to go with asian and african spiders are scarrier - if you think centipedes are fast you've never seen the spiders I'm talking about

I almost placed my hand over a scolopendra once in the forest. I saw its bright red color over the corner of my eye and moved my hand out. Man... I would've freaked out and yelled like a little girl.

I generally hate the feeling of insects and arachnids, and that third family that holds all the 10+ leg bugs.

The feeling of all those tiny little legs grabbing and pulling your skin, the smooth, cool feel of their carapace, and the occasional sharp, blinding pain of a venomous bite.

This is why I have never handled, nor will handle, something that can kill me, and is smaller than a quarter. Or cause great pain and has more legs than something should.

myriapods

And I actually like to hold a large beetle or other bug, I like the feel of it walking on my hand. But I wouldn't pick up anything venomous.

When I was a little kid, I loved overturning rocks in the garden to study all the little scurrying critters living underneath. Sometimes I just picked them up, sometimes put them into jars to get a better look at them. And it didn't take long for me to develop a deep hatred for centipedes. If you make the error of trying to pick them up those little fuckers will bite, and it hurts like the dickens! I still think harvestmen are creepier, but I've since learned to tolerate them, even if they happen to climb up my leg, but centipedes... ugh! The world would be a nicer place without them.

I wouldn't have minded millipedes, though. I think they're quite cute, actually. Too bad I've never seen any where I live.
