Oh, and, the thought of a dead mouse terrifies you? Geeeeez, come on. It could be worse - I had some rough paneling on the walls in the old house, from the previous owners. You think a dead one is bad, imagine having one run down the wall not 3 feet away. You'll want them all dead, and fast.
Victor traps, metal trigger, dried fruit. Kills them good, and they won't be back. But tie the trap down to something solid; sometimes they get a leg caught in it by accident, from simply stepping on it as they walk past - then they drag the trap into a wall, and they die there instead of where you can easily get them. Dead mouse decaying in wall = stink + disease breeding grounds.
