That's exactly what you are NOT supposed to do. Besides turning your back to them.

I saw this documentary on National Geographic (or was it Discovery? Nah, I think it was NatGeo really) where this cameraman dude in Africa saw this lion couple coming at him; they just wanted to lay low in a shady spot and since there were no trees around, they picked the shady spot next to his car.

First came the lioness and she sat next to him; then came the lion and roared a bit at him, meaning "hey you try anything at my girl and I'll have you on my mouth!" and sat nearby. They slept for two hours and then left. The guy had to be still for all that time though, but he found it an awesome experience.

MORAL: Animals can be humans too!

The lion is hating it! look at his face.

"Why do i have to kiss this!"

Yeah, contray to popular belief, lions don't kill every other animal larger than a gnat on sight.

No dude, you normally close your eyes when kissing, it is only polite.

Generally, lions don't eat humans. Usually if you don't piss them off, they won't kill you. True with a lot of animals, the key is just not pissing them off.

I wonder why animals in general somehow act differently to us than to other primates.

What do you mean? In the same way dogs form bonds of friendship with us and not them? Like a horse lets you ride it once you gain its trust? Or the way an elephant does heavy work for men and lets you give it a bath?

Might do with the fact that we are slightly smarter, and get along well with almost any animal. Most primates are, in my humble opinion, retards. I would have any animal as a companion over a monkey any day of the weak.

Interesting observation. But it isn't strictly limited to humans and animals, such seemingly unnatural relationships.

I remember seeing something on discovery on how a lioness exiled from her pride took care of a baby antelope. It groomed it, protected it, and everything. The baby died since the lioness couldn't feed it after a few days.
