Well I moved my 9 ants+queen into an open environment so that they can explore abit. I even offered them a bit of homemade cookie to coerce them out. Yet they refuse to explore yet.....

any tips? I know Tina's colony begun exploration after a spider assassin's attempt was thworted.

I'm beginning to want my cookie back...it was soo tasty

Go break up some wood till you find a big ass fucking black ant and smaller but also big workers and bring it inside with some subtrate food and water

yea its prbly too late to acquire a queen by now. most of the ants are going into hibernation and whatnot.

they are really exciting...if ..they actually get around to doing somthing it'll be more exciting

well crap /an/ its because of you that I'm into this hobby.

I was sitting in class today when I noticed somthing crawling across the ground. glancing down i notice its a queen. I recall that I have an extra tube back at home and thinking quickly, I scooped her up and placed her inside my pen cap. a few moments later i realized the ENTIRE classroom was covered with queens. aparently they found a way inside and choose to swarm in the 80 degree room as opposed to the 42 degrees outside. I spent the remainder of the class trying to pick up queens without becoming noticable. I managed to grab 4 which are now co-habitating a test tube. I wonder if any are fertile and if they'll work together or kill each other. Time will tell. But since I've already got a colony started, this can be my test colony.

Stop giving names to your ants, it's childish.

who said anything about naming?
Tina is the name the other ant guy goes by that has thus far, not been on here.

alright...
well the 4 queens i found yesterday have yet to remove any wings. They are probably all infertile, in which case I might try feeding them to something. Circle of life. Ant colony # 1 thus far have made no attempts at leaving their tube to explore the surroundings. I've seen 2 venture just alittle over half way down where the old cotton ball used to be. They then acted confused before turning back around and heading to the queen.

I guess I would be abit confused as well if I came home one day and a wall was missing in my house. But I'd at lease have a look around to find out why, not just go...somthing seems different today...hmmm...oh well

I hope the queen starts laying again soon as well.
