Dear /an/...

Tonight, I did a monumentally stupid thing.

See, for the past few months on and off, I've been hearing caterwauling outside my bedroom, and cat sex. When another cat started caterwauling tonight, I got so sick of the whole thing, I went and picked up the cat and brought it back into the house.

In short, I now own (for lack of a better word) a possibly pregnant female hiding under my bed. From the state of its coat and the fact that it didn't bolt the moment it saw me, I am guessing it is some irresponsible fuck's pet.

I have the two options:

1) call the RSPCA in the morning and have it taken away. If the cat's microchipped, then it'll be returned to whoever fuckwit that owns it. If not, I guess it gets put down.

2) Assume ownership and forever trap the feline in my house, and blow money on it come Monday when I can take it to the local vet. Most likely, it is pregnant and I won't be able to get it neutered.
I only have the budget to responsibly raise one cat. If it has kittens, they'll have to go to a shelter if I can't find homes for it.

Comment too long. Clickhereto view the full text.

*sigh* make that three options.

TL;DR: Stray cat in house. What should I do?

Also, pic related. The Cat in question under my bed.

What the fuck? Stop being a bleeding heart asshole and dump the awful thing back outside. What are you trying to do, save the world "one cat at a time"?

I truly hate people like you.

If I dump the awful thing back outside, it's going to caterwaul again. And it's going to do this for at least a week. Outside my bedroom window. Do you know what a cat caterwauling sounds like? This particular one sounded like a boy with down syndrome pretending to be a cat, literally saying meow meow meow meow meow.

We don't exactly have things like stray catchers where we live. It's up to us to remove our pests.

Grab cat, throw in car, drive to other side of town, drop cat out, ???, profit!

Exactly! I recommend killing it, but OP is probably too much of a bitch to do that.

>>229251

Think about what you're saying, here. You'd rather put up money you don't want to spend on a cat you don't like over noise it's making. You sound like a bitch, and if you don't get rid of the cat, it'll own you.

Seriously, take cat for ride. Let cat out.

well, if you're gonna let a pregnant CAT walk all over you...those are some frightening implications.

I don't get it. How is anyone "too much of a bitch" to kill a cat? Do you mean "bitch" as in "coward"? At any rate, I am taking that as some variant of option 1.

I recently had cat problems myself.
This one cat kept killing all the wild animals on my yard, squirrels, pheasants, even rabbits. I trapped it and took it to an animal shelter. It's going to get put to death next monday (they keep all animals for two full weeks). Now I KNOW it was someones pet, but he/she is gettin what he/she deserves. Letting cats out for the night on a suburban area is not only irresponsible, but also illegal.

So, cat owners, KEEP YOUR FUCKING CATS INSIDE.

wow....you must all be american fags or something. Ausfags like us dont keep our cats inside, thats fucken cruel. The cats live inside and outside most of the time.

Although you do get people who keep their cats to one type specifically...

point being random countries < Aus

Gee that must be some yard to have such a varied wildlife. And you're right, there's no need for me to feel even residual guilt over whether the cat has an owner or not. Thanks for your input.

I'm going to call the RSPCA tomorrow and have it taken away, then.

Cats are not indoor animals.

My god.

Australian wildlife is already endangered due to cats. Every time you let your cat outside, its' killing native wildlife, making MORE FERAL CATS, and generally fagging up the place.

Keep your cat locked indoors, before it kills off some more native animals.

True. I should have said "Keep your cats on your property." Or if the cat owner finds another way to make sure that their animal doesn't do damage to wildlife or to other people's property, then it's fine.

IMHO loving pet owners don't let their pets wander alone.

If cats aren't indoor animals then they shouldn't be pets. How can you claim ownership over something that essentially lives outside? That's like calling the squirrels that live in the tree in my back yard mine just because they live on my property...

If you buy a dog you're expected to keep it under control and can get in a lot of trouble if it injures someone or someone else's animal. Postmen who are bitten by dogs regularly get money out of the owner and force them to have the dog put down.

Why should cats be so special that an owner can be completely exempt from any responsibility for their pet?

My car does not live in the house. It lives outside, sometimes in a garage. It is my car, and I claim ownership of it.

I did the same thing once. A feral female kept appearing to eat the cat's food, but as soon as I opened the door she would take off like a shot. This made me irrationally angry - how dare said kitty steal food and not like me (I was pretty young). When it was snowing, I guess she was weak and I just reached right down into a woodpile and grabbed her by the scruff. I put her in a cage in the house. Horrible idea.

Once the shock wore off, she was hissing and berserking, launching herself off of every side of the cage (think of the cat washing machine .gif). It was horrible. I called a cat rescue but it would have taken them days to get her. I finally pushed the cage to the doorway, lifted the door, and she was gone. She never came back.

If you can hold out with having a pissy feral cat in your house, just have the RSPCA get her. If you want a cat, you can always check back and adopt one of her kittens who will be much more socialized.

A cat being outside at night doesn't mean the owner "let" it out. Sometimes catsluts in heat can escape and run off quite a way before the owner even knows they are gone.

Taking it to the RSPCA is the right thing to do. If she looks healthy (be sure you got the female and not a male that was crooning after her), tell them you suspect it is an escaped pet. You should put up flyers (something basic like "CAT FOUND, <looks like this>, has been turned over to the RSPCA on <date they pick her up/you drop her off>, call <number> ) within a few blocks of your house. If the owners see the posters and call, they will get a hefty fine and probably be pissed but hey, less kittens and no yowling by your windows.

I didn't think Aussies were that stupid. You are aware that the feral cat problems in Australia is why a bunch of your wildlife is now, or close to being, extinct.

Now go suck a dick, and don't talk ill of your betters.
>> Anonymous
>>229263

But you forget, unlike us superior Aussies, america is full of fucked up retards who'd probably stick fireworks in the cat's ass and put the blown up pieces in the owner's mailbox if they ever dared let it out.

>>229278

If by wildlife you mean common rats and magpies.
Seriously, we don't all live in the fucking wilderness over here. There are such a thing a suburbs and cities in Australia.
but as for the ferral cat thing, yeah, anyone who lets their cat out at night without getting them fixed is a moron.

>>229261

Now that's a bit of a shit-head thing to do. Let a cat die to prove a point to it's owner. That's like killing someone's kid because their parents didn't teach him how to get home from the shops and he asked you for directions.
You could have at least put up fliers with the cat's location and how long it had if you were so sure it belonged to someone.

I'm not interested in teaching lessons or playing Jesus with some shithead asshole who doesn't care about his pets. If the owner really cared, he'd call the local shelter, which is btw only a mile away. He has had his two weeks.

Comparing your pets to someone else's kids is idiotic. Would you put your child outside for the night? Would you let your child kill a bunch of animals and stack them under your neighbor's garage? Some people let their animals do this, but no one lets their kids do what ever the fuck they want.

tl;dr, have sum boks.

My point is that it's the cat that's dying. It's not his fault his owner's incompetent.
And actually, a lot of people seem to let their kids do whatever they want these days. But that's a whole other story.
