Question.
I just bought a baby bunny rabbit (^_^), but we can't figure out how to make him drink!
We got it from a friend where it drank from a bowl, but we have a suspended water bottle.
Please guys, how do I make our adorabe new rabbit drink?

Pics related.
Thanks!!

Try putting the water bottle to its mouth so it knows?

this works, you can also show him that there's water on the water bottle by moving the ball with your finger so the water drips out.

Are you going to keep him in a cage all day?
Rabbits like bowls better, I use a drinkwell fountain with the cord protected.
Hope you're aware that he or she will need to be fixed. Don't feed seeds or pellets with seeds, Purina or Oxbow are the best pellets. He will enjoy eating veggies but he will need to always have tons of HAY to eat.

He will drink from the bottle when he is thirsty. Rabbits ain't stupid.

Give him a bowl, dumbass.

That cage look fucking small. What crime did he commit?

2nded, rabbit is too big for that cage, and let him out also how come I don't see food in that cage?

Rabbits need to eat constantly. That's how is digestive system works. Also they will be constantly pooping. He needs to be litterbox trained.
OP got him/herself a lot of work. It's rewarding, but still a lot of work.

Rabbits are incredibly stupid. Hate the fuckers.

>>280412
When he says "litterbox trained" he means "find the corner where the rabbit keeps pooping and shove a litterbox in there".
>> Anonymous
>>280416
thats ferrets not rabbits, rabbits will run into another room if the box is there
>> Anonymous
actually if you give him fresh greens, lots of them, he will get nearly all of his water from them, just soak or rinse them first, pellets are not a good idea if thats what you're doing. also, leave the cage open and create a penned off area of the room instead, our 4 rabbits have full run of the house and we have no problems(rabbit proofed of course)

>>280425
That's how I "litter trained" all my rabbits. None of them minded the litterbox.

Goes like this
1. Find the corner where the rabbit poops.
2. Put a litter box with carefresh and hay on it
3. Let the rabbit get used to it.
4. Put the box anywhere you want.
5.?????
6. Profit
Of course, if the rabbit is not fixed, he will spray everywhere to mark his territory. Also, if you get another rabbit, they will poop around to mark territory.

Any reason why the rabbit is in the cage? I have a friend that lets her rabbit roam around the room while the cage is open so it can take a dump there.

Maybe he stole a carrot. My bunnies used to steal carrots from each other. One day, the lower among them, stole a piece of kale straight from the alpha female''s mouth. Boy, she was pissed!

It is called a "rabbit." Not a "bunny rabbit," and certainly not a "baby bunny rabbit."

I call my bunny rabbit, baby bunny rabbit and she listen and comes to me. Especially, when I put veggies for her.

OP here.
Cage isn't as small as you thought, HAR!
Thanks for the advice about constant supply of food, we've made food now permanently available for him. Actually we're not sure if it's a he or a her!
As for being in a cage, my family is VERY messy, and I'm scared he'll be sitting somewhere nice and cosy only to be squashed by my mom's arse.
I've built an enclosure with some tables and chairs so he can run around for a few hours a day. He seems to be REALLY enjoying himself. LOVES human attention, and it's HUNGUS as fuck too.
Turns out he's a celery-hater, just like me! Not sure if he's been using the water bottle, but I've marked where the water level is so I can check back later to see if he's figured it out. Tried pressing his mouth against it gently, and showing him how it works but he didn't seem too interested.
Now, onto the end-all end-all. Excrement. Most of you seem to suggest that he/she will shit in one place and stick to it, one place he/she feels most comfortable placing his/her anus.
This doesn't seem to be the case.
Nutritious little pellets of second-hand food seem to be littered all over the cage! Spread randomly :-(
Gonna upload some more pics after this.
Thanks for the tips guys, and I hope to hear back soon!

The shitting? it will always happen like that. Basically about 80% of the shit will be in the shit corner and the rest spread out. However, the piss will be at the shit corner 100% of the time.

Cut the celery in pieces, please.

It looks like a minilop. Mini due to the size of the ears, cause they get to be huge.
Best thing is to have hay 24/7 available. Alfalfa until 1 yo, Timothy or oak after that.
He or she will need to be spayed or neutered. They turn very destructive later on, if they're not.
Cutest thing , though, great that he enjoys human company.

i have 3 bunnies (all male), 1 neutered and the other 2 not. the bunny that got neutered is the most violent (bites, attacks, humps everything etc) and the other 2 are really tame and gentle (just sits there, come when i call their names, jumps on my lap for attention etc)
i dont know how it happened!
>> Anonymous
>>280974
That's totally odd. The two intact ones don't fight? Well, each bunny has his personality, I guess. All my males came neutered from the rescue, so I don't really have a first had experience with an intact male rabbit.
>> Anonymous
>>280975
(280974 here) nope! they just kind of sit in their own corner. the neutered one, however, mounts and humps the smallest bunny when he has the chance
>> Anonymous
>>281022
Well, mine fought, basically the female was the alpha bunny, she had a boyfriend and they both bullied the other two male. The female hated the third male, they never got along, and when she was sick, he tried to take over. But she got better and things went back to normal. Humping is more territorial than sexual. What amazed me is that he does it *all the time.* After a while, they set the pecking order and stop fighting.
They can have some epic fights, though, especially when they're not bounded.

Don't give the rabbit food constantly. Whoever posted that is an idiot.

Your rabbit will get FAT. It may LIKE to have food constantly, but it's not healthy in any way.

Hay is alright, but pellets and greens need to be rationed. Rabbits are only supposed to have as much food as they can eat in about a half hour, once a day. Anything other than that is excessive.

Food =HAY

The best thing to do with cute little bunnies is to find a big snake and let the snake have a fine meal. What a happy snake he will be.

OP again.
To be honest I wasn't sure feeding all the time was a fantastic idea, so THANK YOU for clarifying that this is not the case.
How often should it be fed? As in, meal times and frequency?
And how often/long do they sleep?
>>281040
I think this guy means "HAY = food".
Will attempt to take some less-blurry photos tonight. Camera has a tendency to blur quite a bit, even when anti-blur is enabled :-(

OK.
How old is your bunny? Up until they're growing, which should be at around one year old, he should have free choice of pellets. Up until that age, he can have alfalfa pellets. After that, no more alfalfa pellets. Only timothy pellets with at least 28% fiber. The quantity of pellets will depend on the weight of the bunny. If you know the breed of the bunny, you can check on the internet for the ideal weight for an adult.
Hay. It's the most important part of the bunny diet. Up until one year, you can give alfalfa hay. After that, oat hay or timothy hay. He should always have access to hay. A bunny GI system must be moving all the time = he must be pooping consistently. If he stops pooping, you're in for big trouble. That's why hay is important, because it has FIBER to keep the GI going.
Veggies. Rabbits love them for the most part.
Check for a list of veggies that they can eat. Iceberg lettuce will give them diarrhea, which is real trouble, so NO. Also tomato leaves and a few others that are poisonous. No potato. NO corn.No popcorn. No bread, no pizza, no cheese, no beer, no marijuana. No meat. No seeds, No pellets with seeds, no treats with sugar or milk in them.

cont
Romaine lettuce, dandelions, parsley, Italian Parsley, not much Kale, Collard greens, bok choi.
Brocolli and Cabbage can cause gas and are not recommended. See what veggies your bunny likes. Also celery should be cut in pieces since the strings may cause problems.
Fruits and carrots should be given sporadically as a treat. They have tons of sugar and will make your bunny fat. Wheat products such as bread and cookies also will make the bunny fat and are not recommended at all. Groats is ok as a threat.
I use Oxbow pellets and they come with a chart for how much you should feed. Rabbits can go without pellets but they cannot go without HAY. And contrary to popular belief, carrots are not the base of their diet. Give him the carrot green tops instead.
Also, like rats, their teeth are constantly growing. So, have cardboard boxes, wooden toys, seagrass mats for him to chew.

I feed around two cups of veggies and 1/4 cup pellets, but my is an adults.
Bunnies are crepuscular. Which means, they're active during dawn (around 6-9 AM )and dusk ( around 4-10 PM). They sleep during the day for the most part, also for the most part of the night. Also ,he can sleep with their eyes open. They love to have dark burrow to sleep, like a cardbox with an entrance. I used to have a construction tube, they loved to play in the tunnel. Now, I have a square tunnel made with woodboards.
