When I play any wind instrument around my dog (clarinet, saxa-ma-phone, new years squeaky tube), he freaks out. At first I thought he was playing, backing up and growling, wagging his tale, but when I advance and make more noise, he runs away with his ears down and his body low to the ground.
Is this to do with dogs hearing higher pitches than humans? Does my music cause my dog pain? I hope it's just a close range thing.

Maybe you just suck when it comes to playing reed instruments. Your dog's trying to tell you something. :/

Did you play the Brown Note?

My old dog loved to chill out by the piano when I played (liked the vibrations?), but she freaked out when I would play low notes for too long on my tenor saxaphone. That was... 9 years ago.

This morning I was chasing my new dog around with those new years horns, and he was doing what I described above. I thought it was fun until I thought it might be hurting/scaring him.
