Bengal Cat/ Scaredy Cat Anonymous
Hello /an/

One of my tuxedo cat recently passed away after about 14 years, and I am now overcoming the mourning and thinking of getting a new cat. I was reading a few threads on here and saw a recommendation for a Bengal Cat, and it has piqued my interest.

I have a few questions about bengal cats/cats in general:

1.) I have another tuxedo cat who is a perfect stereotype of a "scaredy cat" and she has been for her whole life (about 14 years). I believe she has some sort of permanent emotional damage. When she does come around she will sit with just the family and any sudden movements she will run away. She is not violent in any way and when she gets calmer she is as friendly as a shy cat can get but always remains nervous. Is this common/normal? She had a very close relationship with my cat that died and has been crying a lot more at night now, and only comes inside for a few hours a day to eat and be pet a little. Will bringing in a new cat do a lot of damage to her?

2.) How are bengals personalities? Do they retain any of the personality/behavior of their wild ancestors? Will a bengal completely WTFPWN my scaredy cat?

3.) Are bengals meowing too uncontrollable? I know theyre very vocal and have a unique voice but will it be as bad a dog who is always barking?

4.) Can I train the bengal to be an outdoor cat and trust it not to hunt down and kill every dog in the neighborhood? I live in a more rural area (no sidewalks, large yards, houses far away from achother).

Thanks for any advice. Pic is a bengal cat.

Yeah - c'mon, a cat's a cat. You don't need a pedigree cat when there are so many abandoned ones in shelters about.

But it's not a fishing cat. They don't just call it fishing cat because it fishes, they're actually called that.

you didnt rebutt my post it's still valid. nonetheless someone who is unaware can call their bengal cat a fishing cat (especially since they swim)

hi anon,

I just got a bengal kitten a week ago, she is beautiful and settling in fine. She has two moods, extremely playful (I have never seen a kitten play like she does she goes absolutely mental it is very funny) or she is asleep. We also have an indoor dog and an indoor/outdoor cat and she is getting used to them slowly. She has a lovely nature and is very very playful, she also likes to climb. She does talk but not overly only if she wonders somewhere in the house she hasn't been and finds herself alone then we hear her meow, but it is not annoying at all.
