eat a dick guy. pigeons are rats with wings because they are so fucking annoying. bats are cool/very cool, if anything they are cute cuddly bunnies with wings.

>>90582
Bats don't behave like rats at all. Pidgeons do.

Also pidgeons carry diseases like rats.

Bats are like hampsters with wings. :3

wouldn't bats carry diseases as well since they feed on animal blood? well, vampire bats anyway
>> Anonymous
Bats are cuuuuuute.
>> Anonymous
>>90624

Only 3 of about 1,100 species of bats feed on blood, finding one is unlikly.

And ANY animal can carry disease
>> Scythemantis
Okay...a bunch of you are fucking stupid.

Rats don't carry disease any more significantly than any other animal. In fact, they're a lot cleaner than wild dogs or cats. They just have a huge stigma attached to them.

Pigeons carry even less that humans can contract. The physiology is just too different. It's easier for a bird to get sick from a human. Don't bring up bird flu, bird flu is a fucking joke. Bad mayonaisse will bring you closer to death.

Rats, bats, and pigeons don't have ANYTHING in common.

Vampire bats don't attack humans.

Why is 90% of the population so incredibly ignorant about nature? It's the single most important all-encompassing subject there is and most modern douchebags know more about their cell phone than about animal life.

Pigeons and Rats have lost a great deal of their fear of humans naturally. I worked for a bat rehab centre and from my experience pigeons and rats tend to have cooler personalities while bats just want the big scary human to get the hell away from them. Srry guyz.

>>90660>Rats, bats, and pigeons don't have ANYTHING in common

Aside from being crap-factories. Which is most of the problem. 99% of the things you can "catch" from animals like that are things that live in their poop. The same can be said about pretty much all animals, though. We just have more contact with rodent and pigeon feces than any other wild animal so we get all paranoid about hantavirus and histoplasmosis. This isn't so much of an issue if you're keeping it as a domesticated pet though since you can control what it's eating and where it's shitting and how long the feces is lying around and all the other things that contribute to disease in poopness.

BTW: Bird flu isn't really a joke. Most of our influenza viruses originated in birds anyway and we are statistically due to get pwnt by some influenza. That doesn't make the paranoia over bird flu a year or so back any less of a joke though.

Rats and bats have quite a lot in common. Pigeons less so.
>> Scythemantis
That's what I mean. Bird flu exists, yes, but like SARS there was never any reason for people to panic.

What an awesome world it would be if a few species of bat were domesticated.

>>90722
Yes, it would be awesome if lots of things were domesticated. I'd love a pet eagle, or deer. But as is -- bats carry rabies a non-negligible percent of the time (around %.5 if I remember correctly) and they're also very wild animals. No, they're not dangerous like some people make them out to be, but unless you know what you're doing, you don't want to mess around with bats. They're nowhere close to being a human-friendly animal, despite being awesome.

Once I visited a zoo in North Queensland, and they had a flying fox enclosure. When I approached it one of the bats flew up to the wire fencing I was closest to, climbed down to face me and stuck his head through. He let me pet him and he licked my fingers. He was like a little puppy with wings. :3
>> Anonymous
>>90868
Then it bit me and they had to put down all the flying foxes to check for rabies

THE END

>>90881
Fail. There's no rabies in Australia.

There's a pond less than 50 meters away from my house, and in the summer you can see dozens of bats fly around over the surface, catching mosquitos. It's quite awesome.

Awsome pics! I just have one, and it's a repost...

if you throw tennis balls into the air on summer nights on long island you can watch the bats come and try to attack the balls
