My cat is eating the dog's food. Anonymous
Hey /an/on. Our cat is eating the dog's food. I have no idea why. Is the cat food not giving her enough nutrients (we get her Blue Buffalo Spa Select), does she just prefer the taste of the dog food, or does she just want to eat something different?

My dog usually loves catfood over dogfood.

I guess they just prefer a different taste.

Probably enjoying more salt and fat that's in dog foods. It's not good for her, but she probably wants a chow that's less expensive/lean with more junk in it.

My cat does this to piss off the dog.

My cat died because he ate dog food. Constipation or something. I don't remember, I was nine.
I loved that cat.

Cats need omega 3 fatty acids and much MUCH more fat than dogs. Cats can actually go blind on a diet of dog food, if they don't die first. Never ever feed species the wrong foods, they're different for a reason.

Try giving the cat tuna, chicken or ham. Anything is better than dog food - dogs eat tubes and shit, cats need oils for their eyes and fur.

When I was a kid, I found a stray kitten that was starving. She would only eat dog food for the longest time. After a couple months she started to eat cat food, but for the rest of her life, she would munch on my dog's dry food at least once a day.

never feed cats tuna. the high sodium content damages their liver, and causes a vitamin B deficiency that cannot be revered.

instead try a different brand of cat food... and donate your old bag to the spca or something

try Innova brand cat food, in the red bag. its cheap and incredibly healthy and my cat adores it :P

YOUR CAT IS A REAL ASSHOLE

Why not feed them at different times? You shouldn't have dog food left out anyway.

Blue Buffalo Spa Select is one of the most nutritionally sound foods on the market. What food are you feeding the dog? If it's a lower quality food, it may smell more appealing.... kinda like forcing the cat to choose between brocolli in it's bowl and a big mac in the dog's
