Strayfag here. I posted about picking up a stray about a week ago. I've been feeding and medicating her after taking her to a vet, and she's gained .5 kg now.

But now I have a problem: she won't eat dry food. She appears to be unfamiliar with the concept of "chewing", and just licks it a little before giving up. I've tried stuffing it in her mouth, and even chewing it for her, but she won't eat the stuff out of the bowl.

What can I do, /an/?

Provided you are buying quality wet food which contains all the necessary nutrients, you don't need to feed her dried food at all.

Problem solved.

Try adding a little water to it at first, and then work to drier and drier.

Except that pretty much every type of canned food is mostly water, pretty hard to find actually nutritious canned food to completely replace dry food.

Did the vet check its teeth? Maybe she's missing some or they hurt too much to chew on harder food.

If not, she's just not used to this type of food. Stray\wild animals don't eat pellets so they're not always receptive when introduced to it.
