Wild animals become tame pets? Anonymous
Anyone know if wild animals can be tame pets? I have seen deers, some wolves and foxes. I was thinking of taming some wild baby birds that just hatched. I would take the nest down and take it inside and feed it crickets to the baby birds.

Short answer: No.

If you breed them through about 20 generations and select primarily for tameness, yes, wild animals can be tame pets.

I beg to differ. Any animal can be a tamed pet from birth. Just gotta watch for the primal instincts. For example, most tamers can get along with tigers and the like, but, fuck, if they're hungry, they're hungry. They can also overpower you quite easily. But, anywho, off that. Birds, easy. TAME IT THEN EAT IT.

There are plenty of bird species used to humans. There are enough of those birds in shelters.

If you're willing to put in the dedication needed to properly raise the animal from birth and socialize him/her with humans, it can be done. If you really want experience with different animals, go volunteer at some sort of sanctuary for them first.

How do you even know the type of birds you have eat crickets? A lot of birds eat seeds or plants. Baby birds are very difficult to take care of, and if raised by a human (especially one who's never done it before) they usually die. Most baby birds need to be fed ever hour. Do you have the time to do that? They also need to be kept in a warm place at night, you would need to buy a heating pad or heating light for them. Often times they can overheat if you don't monitor their temperature.
