I have a friend who saw an animal in our driveway and can't figure out what the hell it was. She described it to me and I can't figure it out either.
She said it was as big as a cat, but it was dog-like in appearance and had a long, thin tail, like the tail of a rat. She said it may have had fur, but not much of it.
She said it was a lot like a chiwawa, but there's no way a dog like that would be running around here. She was certain it was a wild animal.
We live in Massachusetts, and pretty near the woods. There's a leash law around here too, so no wild dogs of any sort.

oh and I mentioned possums since they have rat-like tails, but she was certain that wasn't it. She said it was more like a dog than a rodent, and she's seen possums before.

If it -was- a Jersey Devil that would have been cool.

How did it walk? Did it make any noise?

she only saw it for a moment. I'm going to eventually show her the pic of the mangey fox, I'm betting that's it.

Now my indoor cats are acting weird. They see and smell something outside from looking out the window. If it was a cat outside, they'd be growling and attacking the window.
So far they just seem EXTREMELY interested. They don't seem to be afraid of whatever is out there either. Unfortunately I can't see it in the dark, or hear it, although I've been shining a bright flashlight out there.
