The hell's with your ass, man? Some Cat Lady
Okay.
I have this cat that's seven years old now, and he's usuallly a really laid back kinda guy that is a total whore for attention. A great cat that puts up with anything at all so long as he's getting attention.
He's a flame point siamese, and is really quite social with anyone and everyone.
The problem is, though, that since I started going back to university last fall he's begun to shit by the door randomly and pluck out the fur around his rump and hip. The first I'm breaking him of successfully, the second... not so successfully.
I'm taken him to a vet, and it's not a skin condition or fleas or parasites... Apparently, my cat's gone psycho because I'm gone a few hours more a day than he'd prefer. His plucking has gotten to where there's now a completely bald spot the size of my thumb on one hip. :/
I've tried yuck spray and bandages, but nothing at all works.
The only other thing that's been suggested to me by a vet is kitty prozac... but money is an issue (school! lulz!) and I dislike filling critters full of psychoactive substances.

Picture of kitty now, picture of nekkid spot later...

what did you expect?
lock him up and then leave it alone.
no wonder it's going nuts.
Shouldn't have gotten a cat if you don't have a yard.

I do have a yard, dipshit.
However, he's a rescue cat and the person who had him *before* me declawed him totally.
No way in hell I'm letting an unarmed feline outside... Especially a cat who, apparently, only had experience living outside when it's former home was demolished by a hurricane/flood combo. Yeah. Cat dislikes outside, hates wind, and is scared to death of running water.

BTW...
Thank you. Dead serious.
I'm hunting for it now. <3

Adopted cats are weird, mine is in shellshock like it was in Nam.

Yeah...
I kinda noticed that.
I have two adoptees (including the psycho) right now and one I've had for a dozen years or so. Psycho kitty is the only one that's psycho. The other two are perfectly normal with no psychosis. Tch.

I have two cats I adopted from shelters and neither one has any behavioral problems.

Might try getting a second cat to keep the first distracted.

your cats crazy dude

Sounds like one of the cats two cats I have. Both are rescues(one coming from a house filled with over 50 cats and also most likely inbred, and one i found in the woods as a kitten) and both are pretty weird.
One is just defiant and gets angry if I don't pay attention to her constantly, let her outside or spray her with some flea stuff. Thus, she pukes everywhere and rips out her fur.
The other cat is fine, but has a bald spot near her rump just like the other cat and one of my dogs. But the vet said they don't have any parasites.

whoops, missed that post

yeah, I guess in that case I'd try a product like the earlier poster recommended. Or, if all else fails, one of those plastic cones.
