I've got a poodle. Standard, purebred, he's.. 13 I think. We never had to house train him- we just let him outside when he had to go, he never once crapped/pissed inside the house. He learned tricks fast and well, and my brother managed to teach him how to unlatch the back door. It maybe took him a few minutes to understand the trick. He also wouldn't accept a treat unless he did a trick. If you hand 'em one, he'd look at you funny. Like he felt he didnt deserve it yet. Unlike most dogs I've seen, he never gourges himself on food. We could leave a moud of it in there, he just eats a few bites, then is on his way. AAAALTHOUGH, Once he hit around 12, he's.. not so much a genius. Then again, poodles are prone to various eye/ear infections and whatnot. He can't hear or see well anymore. He's forgotten a lot of his old tricks and doesn't even recognize childhood doggy-friends. (All the poodles I've seen were dog-aggressive, btw) So, uh, my dog was a lovely and intelligent pup until old age hit. I dont really think that's some terrible breeding fault- its just old age. And hey, Greyhounds only live to like 7.
You guys must have got some fucked up breeders if your poodle is retarded.
