This is a female red-tail hawk that lives in my area. 3 years ago, this very hawk was seen perching on that very same birdhouse over the garden in my backyard. I crept up on it and took some pictures, though I wasn't able to get as close as I did last time.

About 3 minutes after I took this picture, she spotted some food crawling around my yard. A field mouse. She killed it, then picked it up and flew back to the birdhouse and ate the whole thing.

She's still standing there, looking for seconds.

It's still out there. It just flew up to my window and grabbed this one.

That bird is doing us a huge favor.

Wow, amazing! There's a Crane living in my neighborhood. I live near 20 acres of a wetland perserve, so we're guessing it lives in there. Anyway, here's a picture of it I took one day. It's standing in the middle of my neighbors driveway. It doesn't come out too often, unfortunetly. :( Still, it's so great when it does. :)

The Raven? Like the poem by Poe, or that movie from like 1963 about it?

Believe it or not, had our neighborhood male red tail hawk pull a small rattlesnake out of the grass about 10 feet away from me.

Was awesome.
