Help! We now have a cat after finding him living in the grass some months ago - A second cat has come around and I'm trying to find out if he has no home (will ask around the neighborhood this week) -- so Do cats with homes try to go into other homes and will they also eat food given by a stranger? Is there a way to help them get along?

I thought I would also take this cat in because they seemed to be friendly to each other at first but now they just keep attacking each other He's already had to go to the vet two times for treatment of infections from wounds

yes, cats will go to other peoples' homes sometimes, given the chance.

Are these two kitties male or female? If both males they will continue to fight, especially if they are not neutured (sp?) as males are very territorial

also cats will walk into other people's houses just to find food... cats don't have homes, they just live where they are treated best

also if you do plan to keep said kitties, please get them spayed/neutured as soon as possible

I have to somewhat disagree here. It's very possible for you to develop a bond with your cat that will cause him or her to see your house as 'home'. If your cat brings you mice or birds as gifts, if she comes to you with her tail held straight in the air when you come home looking to be petted, or if she snores in her sleep when she knows you're in the room... all these are signs that your cat is attached to. She's showing implicit trust and devotion- that she thinks of you as family or even as a lifemate.

That cat would not be running away to live with a stranger.

I;m pretty sure my cat has another home, he disappears for days then comes back.

Both males The one here is fixed Not sure about the other
Do they seem to be playful in this image?
They used to be fine with each other and would sit together at night
I just petted him for a bit then went to get some food (which he finally ate) He was following me and scratching at the door trying to come in

well you are right, but so am i, it really depends on when you get the cat, my current cat actually was a neighbor's cat and it deciced to come live with us... but it does vary from cat to cat

the cat on the left seems to be the dominant one, looking at his posture and having his ears back, while the one on the right is submissive, showing it's stomach, or perhaps he just wants to play

in my opinion my male cats have become less agressive and more 'warm' after they have been neutured, but good luck with your kitties and kudos on taking them in

Yep, they do go into other homes. I came home one morning to find tufts of fur just inside the cat door and was told by a relative that a neighborhood cat was caught at the food bowl by one of our cats and got its ass kicked by our cat
