That pisses me off too. The worst one I saw was a tiny little eskimo mix looking thing, it was barking at everybody and tried to scrap with my dog, and the owners (rednecks) were like, "Sorry, we think she's part wolf and we're trying to get her used to people." My dog, meanwhile, was a very large white dog that really did look like a wolf, but I always introduced him as a "probably malamute mix" because I had no false hopes about his lineage being wild and pure and blablabla.
The wolf typically symbolizes freedom and wildness, yet every other asshole wants to chain/pen/domesticate, or keep one in a house.
