#1. is it gay for a dude to want a cat? #2. does anyone have this breed and/or know anything about them.
>> Anonymous
i love how miserable they look from the start

#1: obviously you or someone you know thinks it is at least somewhat gay.

Why do you care?

superior. and manly.

Almost every guy I know loves cats. None of them are gay.

loving pussy's is the anti-gay last time i checked, honestly though cats are usually awesome pets to have around
>> Anonymous
Don't get a long haired cat. You'll regret it once EVERYTHING you own is covered in a nice layer of white fur.

Most people vacuum.

The only people who think it's gay to have cats are radical or ignorant conservative dogfags.
>> Anonymous
2# That's one of those extreme-faced persians. They have serious problems breathing and eating, and they have some sort of eye problems too due to the deformed face. You're not gay for wanting a cat, a proper cat that is, but if you get one of these abominations, you are a massive faggot.

I love my cat, but whenever I so much as look at it in my BLACK work clothes I seem to become covered in white fur.

You'll want to invest in one of those lint brush things.

They've got a shitload of problems due to anatomy/genetics. As another anon said they are prone to breathing problems, can have trouble eating, can have delivery problems in pregnancy, and are predisposed to some eye diseases. Besides those there is polycystic kidney disease, which is a pretty bad kidney disease causing al sorts of problems.
(And these are not even all commonly found 'diseases' in persians.)

Besides all those you've got a long haired cat which means you have to look after it's coat a bit to prevent it from getting al knotted up. It differs from cat to cat how much you must brush it etc.

All in all they are pretty 'difficult' and fairly costly cats to keep on average. Besides that you are supporting the breeding of a cat breed that has some serious inherited problems (if you buy a kitten from a breeder that is), which might be something you don't want.
(Well you could get an older one from the pound or something ofcourse. And I personally don't really think this is a definite reason not to buy one but whatever).

So, if this will be your first cat, I'd suggest a more easily kept cat which you don't have to look after quite as much.

1.) Having a cat is NOT gay. Cats are clean, beautiful and can take care of themselves and requir less constant attention than dogs.

2.) The one in your picture looks like a Persian, but has the coloring of a himalayan cat. (All the pretty color and fluff without the evil mushed in face.)

3.) I work at a pet hospital, and I've heard it said that Persians and Pugs, who both have the mushed in nose have horrible breathing problems and can die due to lack of oxygen or other complications - especially when they get older.

I'd strongly recommend if you like persians, consider himalayans as an alternative. They have a normal cat face and aren't prone to AS much inbreeding as persians these days. (I say, "as much" because no pure breed is exemp.)

Himalayan is also called the "colorpoint Persian." They, like Persians, can be found in both the traditional (non-smashed) and the standard (smashed) face versions. OP's pic is a standard cream-point Himalayan.

I had a traditional Persian, and he was awesome. Very clever and affectionate, and he was fun to shave in summer. I definitely agree about the smashed, standard face. They can cause medical issues down the line. And they're fugly.

Isn't 'single man with two cats' supposed to be a euphemism for gay?
>> Anonymous
If you are single, and live by yourself, having a cat.. well, I don't want to admit it, because I love cats, but being honest, it is a bit effeminate. I'm not going to say gay, but it is effeminate.
>> Anonymous
#1. no. Cats are kind of like having a girlfriend. They're distant, ignore you, and only come to you when they want something.
#2. Himalayan. They're nice cats, but slow and typically overweight. Also, as>>333005pointed out, long hairs are just trouble. Unless you have a good vacuum(read: electrolux) stick to medium hairs and short hairs.
>> Anonymous
No, especially if you get a farm cat. They are bitchin'. They hunt the shit out of the area so make sure you live in someplace with some woods they can run around in and not like on the edge of a highway where they can get hit easy.

Me (a female) and my boyfriend both like cats. We have a beautiful red medium hair that adores my boyfriend. She follows him everywhere just to hang out in whichever room he happens to be in and sleeps on top of him at night (he's a heavy sleeper so it doesn't bother him.) I think it's awesome and not gay at all. (not that there's anything wrong with being gay you prejudiced dick hole)

We're taking care of his cousin Persian cat right now, and while it's a very friendly and sweet cat... It just shouldn't exist. It has trouble eating, breathing... it's eyes constantly leak tears because of its messed up face and its long fur get matted very easily and has to be brushed all the time. Also, poop gets stuck in it's long butt hair. Yes. And you know who has to clean that off? The humans. :(

No it's not gay, it's lovely. Proves that you can care for something other than yourself - women like this.

Also, just get the cat equivalent of a mongrel, not one of those ridiculous prim and proper things like the pic.

Most outdoor and indoor-outdoor cats are like this, but if you keep your cat inside only they're more likely to want to hang out with you.

Also, you've obviously never had a snake because they DO shit, and a few actually have two different kinds of pee.

Pixie-Bob cats share many of the physical and personality characteristics of bobcats, except they are approximately half the size, and do not have some of the wild characteristics. Pixie-Bobs are a paradox. They look and act very much like Bobcats, but are legally defined as domestic cats. For a cat to be considered a Certified TICA Pixie-Bob cats, they cannot be bred with bobcats, and one of their parents must be traced back to Pixie the cat.

Pixie-Bobs are approximately 50% larger than most domestic cats (which weigh 5.5–16 lb or 2.5–7 kg). Most Pixie-Bobs have black fur and skin on the bottom of their paws, tipped ears, heavy ear hair, black lips, and white fur around the eyes but with black eye skin. Their chins have white fur, but often have black skin under the white fur. Some of their whiskers change from Black (root - about 25%) to White (to the tip - about 75% of the whisker).Tiger-like fur pattern, but often have reddish tones mixed in. Stomach is often reddish-gold in color with some ticking (broken stripes). Most are short-haired, but some are long-haired. Eyes are almond shaped and tilted. Eyes are blue when kittens, then change to green, and finally to gold when several months old (some don't change completely to Gold, but have a Gold with a green tint). Tails can be non-existent (rumpy), or 2-4 inches (desired - TICA required), or long tails (Pixie was a long tail). Long tails are docked by some breeders due to the relative popularity of the bobtail look. The head is usually-pear shaped. The head and tail are considered the important characteristics. They grow for 3 years instead of 1 year like most domestic cats.

Pixie-bobs are highly intelligent, social, active (but not hyper-active), bold, and enjoy playing with other animals.

They are also known for their "chirps", chatters, and growls; most don't meow often, and some don't meow at all. Chirping is essentially their "language", and some of their chirping actually sounds like purring.

Some Pixie-Bobs can be highly sociable around both their owners and strangers, while others are shy around strangers. Almost all Pixie-Bobs like to be in the same room as their owners, and will follow their owners around the house.

Other personality characteristics include the following:

* Head butting
* Ball fetching and playing
* Leash walking (for the most part)
* Highly intelligent (To use a dog analogy, their intelligence would be similar to a Golden Retriever's)
* Capable of understanding some human words and phrases

Those cats sound awesome but, I am always leary of breeds. Some breeders scare me. They seemed more concerned in what they can do through breeding and not about breeding healthy animals.
