I've seen enough proof e.g. foot prints, bite marks, scat, video. Plus there are plenty of sightings, and dead animals killed in their particular manner. They're still alive just really rare and deep in the forest. The Florida panther was thought to be extinct for many years until one expert tracker spent months searching deep in the swamps. He eventually found out that there was a small population of about 70 if I'm remembering the number right. Finding a nocturnal predator with large territories when the population is so low, and in remote areas isn't easy. They actually just discovered a new species of cloud leopard this year.
