dear /an/I would like you to identify this spider that keeps spinning webs in my backyard (in b4 brown recluse). basically, my drawing's not the best, but it's kinda brownish, with a light stripe on its back. its underside, I don't really think is too special, but it has sort of red rings near the base of its legs.forgive my awful drawing, I'm not an artistpic obviously related.
>>219233meh if the body shape is as it is, then it's just a garden orb weaver.
What country do you live in OP?
>>219248australia
OP here. Disregard that I love the cock.
it's a brown recluse OP.
bump in the hopes someone can confirm this as an orb weaver
what shape are the webs that is is making?
>>219471it's sometimes hard enough to determine a species or even genus when you get a real picture to look at! my guess is that it's an orb weaver of sorts..nothing to worry about.try to get a picture of it. also..what does the web look like? is it basically a flat plane that is round in shape?
>>219523>>219516you guys were right, I googled it, and it looks pretty much the same as an orb weaver, web and all.it's an awesome little guy, fun to watch him spinning his web.
>>219523ah, also, I don't have a functioning camera right now, but I was hoping the famed spiderman could shed some light on this.indeed, you were right though.
also, (I gotta think before I post), I'm going to probably take a photo of him/her tonight, see if I can get a nice photo. :) I have a camera to use now
here's my awful picture. flash didn't do much, I tried shining a light source on it. pretty crappy camera, but at least you'll get the basic shape of him.sorry I couldn't get a clear shot of his web.
>>219637well the pic isn't much better than the drawing. :P but you can see some of the web thanks to the flash. that and the spider looks like an orb weaver. harmless..you could even try finding a small bug (i would shoot for something no bigger than the spiders abdomen) and toss it in the web.
