pitbulls and other fighter dogs Anonymous
What are your opinions about fighting dogs?

Pitbulls and other such dogs are becoming very common in our neighbourhood. Almost every week there is someone attacked by a pitbull, and the younger owners often train their pitbulls by making them attack planted trees or the playthings in childrens playground.

Disliking the dogs are of course only half of the problem, since the real problem are the owners.

Does anyone own such a dog? What do you think of the current situation around them?
>> Anonymous
Problems with (any type of) dogs usually stem from either (or both) of the following factors:

- Poor breeding and/or socialisation by the breeder
- Poor training by the owner

Pitbulls especially are dogs that tend to suffer from both of these factors. Seeing as they're actually illegal in some countries/states, breeding and socialisation goes down the drain as you get illegal 'underground' breeders who often don't know anything about the trade.
Also, this breed in particular is sought out by people who regard their dogs as a status symbol/weapon, which leads to situations you discussed.

The dogs themselves, properly bred, socialised and trained, show no more threat than your average poodle.
>> Anonymous
You must live in an area with lots of black people.
>> Anonymous
you should report them to animal control. dog fighting is illegal in all 50 states (it's a felony offense in almost all states), and it sounds like that's what the owner's are training the dogs to do. It also sounds like only a matter of time before someone, likely a child, is seriously injured.

I agree with previous anon. The dogs aren't the problem, the people training them to be aggressive are the problem.

Treat them like weapons when it comes to purchasing and owning them.

True. My family's had pitbulls for a while, and each one was totally harmless.

dogs are really good at doing what they're trained to do. if you train your dog to attack shit, it'll attack shit.

i think they should be banned
i dont care how harmless you say your family pet is.

that or an automatic 100,000 dollar insurance policy. if you fail to cover, 50 years in the pen.

I watched a pitbull kill someone's cat in a vicious, unprovoked attack recently.

Normally, when threatened by a dog, a cat will take one swipe at the aggressor and then run to safety, but this cat was cornered. He fought bravely. I couldn't see the whole thing, but a minute later I saw the dog walk off with the lifeless carcass hanging from its jaws, not even looking angry or phased. It seemed completely unaware of the fact that it had just taken an innocent life. "look master i bring a present". Fucking sick.
>> Anonymous
>>97306
It's a fucking CARNIVORE. That's what they do! There is no concept of innocence in nature, there are predators and prey.
It's like my mom getting all sad whenever our dogs kill a bunny or squirrel. Dogs are hunters, it's fun and natural for them to hunt, so long as they don't attack people or other people's pets it's fine.

Do you get all weepy if you see a cat kill a mouse? No.

Pit bulls are like every other breed, there may be some common personality traits but any major trends are more likely due to owners and training. As I've seen, chows are more aggressive than pit bulls that I've met.

How do I anthropomorphize animals?
>> Anonymous
>>97320

Yes, but cats are the life essence of /b/ and some of the most cared for animals in the world.

Dogs are just cunts.
>> Anonymous

You're wrong. Cats are worthless, uncaring, cunts best suited for stewing in Asian countries/restaurants.

Dogs are simply the best pets ever.

I had a chow, great dog. Very loving but because of that negative stigma and probably due to its large size our community told us that people were afraid of it and we must get rid of it.

We gave the dog to our uncle.. who, unbeknown to us at the time did not take very good care of the dog and it turned feral and bit someone and was put down. When we owned it there wasn't even a spot of aggresion in it. :( so sad

If there is one dog that scares me the most it would be a chow.. fucking massive dogs with a bark that could be heard a mile away.

>>97326

Also, you notice how the dog people are a lot more stable emotionally and don't spam the living fuck out of /an/ on a daily basis with pictures of their's, and other's, miserable little pussies? I mean, I'd like to say I've at least laughed once at some retards' cat-macro image, but I haven't.

I know I don't have a problem with large dogs. Currently had a great dane and before that had a mastiff (who we adopted from a rescue agency but unfortunately had some pretty severe heart problems and wasn't long for the world). Chows have always seemed overly aggressive to me. Our neighbors dog (which I don't think was mistreated) was very aggressive and on several occasions attacked our dogs on our property. I Also knew a breeder who had a chow as her personal pet. It wasn't violent, but it was very pushy and didn't hesitate to push and growl it's way wherever it wanted.

My brother has two pit bulls, and besides one of them being sort of skittish they are completely normal dogs. The other loves attention and will immediately come up to you and try to get you to rub her or flip over and have you rub her tummy.

>>97330

Well, the thing about chows is that is in their bread.. I would not call it aggresion but they are just wary of strangers and other animals by nature. If they are not socialized properly that tends to happen. We knew about all of this when getting our chow so we made it a point to get it as a puppy. He would not let anyone near him unless someone in our family was with him. I liked that trait though :P at the time we did not live in a very good area so it was comforting having the chow.

How fucking stupid can you be? Since when do dogs take pity on things? Same with cats, or a horse or any other animal for that matter.
That dog didn't kill the cat because it was a pit bull. Any other breed of dog could have done that. A fucking poodle could maul a cat to death, pits are just stronger and have more of a bite.

Anyone who has never owned pit bulls can't say shit about them. But I think there should be special precautions on owning one just so some dumbshit gangster faggot doesn't get one. Like a test form you must fill out. And if it comes to that, hell, it might as well be required for you to HAVE to get your pit bull inspected or some shit.

>>97320It's a fucking CARNIVORE. That's what they do!

stfu. dogs don't EAT cats. also, it was someone's pet. if it was your cat or dog who died, there'd be a lynchin'

>>97322anthropomorphize
yeah cuz no one else does that around here.
>> Anonymous
>>97343
also. cats do the same shit. they maul a baby bunny, mouse and even puppies(my neighbor's puppy was killed by a cat and its head was brought to them) and will drop the half eaten thing to your feet just to please you.

i own two cats, and i love them. but the only thing cats are good for is company(when they WANT to be near you) and they might help you out with a rodent infestation. other than that they're pretty fucking useless.
>> Anonymous
>>97344
if you turned a dog loose in the wild, it'd go all feral and kill just about anything it could eat. which includes cats.
a fucking lion would eat a cat just because its a carnivore. you stfu you have no fucking clue what you are talking about.

the hell they don't. back when i lived in rural missouri, i once watched two stray pit bulls (previous owner had moved and left the dogs) eat a stray cat. the pits caused quite a ruckus for a couple of days until animal control finally decided to show up.

Get a Korean. They eat pitbulls.
But only after torturing them for a while.
You get rid of those damned pitbulls and a nice fat Korean that you can put on the grill.

I live in the projects and I can tell you why this is done. People here want to prove themself to me though and gangsta....but they are too much of a coward to fight themselves so they get their dogs to fight for them. Easy as that.

97439 here, where i lived we had tons of strays, dogs that were either hauled off or abandoned. i've seen other breeds (usually mutts) eat animals like cats and rabbits. strays of any breed will eat whatever they can get ahold of, including cats.

Sorry man but some breeds just tend to do certain shit. Even the most tamed dogs will at times attack unprovoked.

Any dog can be vicious. The big court case over dog mauling lately was two German shepherds. Those dogs don't exactly have a bad rap (though they are scarier than pit bulls by far IMO).

I don't trust people who are prejudiced against breeds. My family keeps bulldogs, for some reason people thing bulldogs are vicious. They aren't. I've been around a lot, I've never seen a vicious one. Grumpy, yes, stubborn, god yes, but never vicious.

Now, I think there probably should be some kind of license to keep a rottweiler or pit bull, but to completely ban them, or put such ridiculous requirements that most people couldn't afford to meet them, is cruel. Can you imagine someone forcing you to give up your loving pet just because some other people had been dumbasses with theirs?

Yes, some dogs will attack unprovoked. This can be any breed. My great dane could decide that I'm a threat and tear my throat out if she wanted. I highly doubt she will, and I don't expect people to ban great danes just because thy have the ability to cause harm if they want.

Terriers are the most viscous type of dog, it is in their blood to kill and main anything smaller than them, and get really pissed at anything bigger than them.

Even the little puffy tart females that dumb people put little pink bows on are trained from the womb to kill.
>> Anon
I can see where Yorkies are killers. My mom's has ran down, cornered, and ripped open a chicken. He has also taken on our lab cross and ripped into her. Luckily the lab is gentle natured and didn't do much than run and hide behind us while I punted him away and mom grabbed him (and was bit).
Big dogs unnerve me period. They can knock my ass down and get to my throat. At least footballs can be punted.
Our main problem dogs around here are German shepherds and pits. I think in the last eight years we've had animal control come and retrieve at least 5 pits. All put down for killing livestock.
>> Anonymous
Just like there's wild and domesticated felines and canines, be they lions or main coon cats to pitbulls and dingos, there are breeds that are more aggressive and violent and dangerous. some dogs are weapons, in the same way a car is a weapon. the worst a large domestic cat can do is give you some stitches worthy scrapes or take out an eye, but large dogs can rip out your throat, dislocate joints and tear off huge chunks. i don't think outlawing breeds is necessary, but maybe you should have to have insurance or a license or something. face it people, an animal descended from predators that's the size of an 8 year old or larger can be seriously deadly. get some damn sea monkeys.

fighting dogs scare the hell outta me.

now the breed, but those that are actually trained by their owners to fight.

I have a Jack Russel Terrier, and so far he's killed an opossum, hedgehog, bird, squirrel, >20 chipmunks, 6 baby rabbits, and god knows what else. After he's killed something, he'll bring their carcass (most of the time decapitated or in some way mutilated) up to the door and he'll try to bring it in. It's strange, b/c he's really happy (and hence, acting very happy and cute) but also has blood staining snout.
>> Anonymous
I have a mutt dog with a lot of terrier. He's a hunter. He kills things. Bunnies, squirrels, ground hogs, snakes, a stray cat/kitten in one instance. Sweet to people, okay with other dogs (tends to get overexited when playing and playfights to win), but he will kill other animals.

Any dog can be aggressive if they are raised improperly. I've been attacked by a pair of chocolate labs before, and they're a generally docile breed. We actually have a pit bull/german shepherd/collie mix right now, and she is very aggressive and protective of our family. She is getting better, we've chalked it up to poor socialization as a pup. She gets very nervous when people approach her, but she only acts out in fear.

We also have a sable german shepherd, who's the most affectionate animal we've ever had. He has killed stray cats, rabbits, various animals that encroach on his territory. HOWEVER, he has never harmed any of our barn/indoor cats.

I firmly believe that it's all in how they're raised. Plus, pet owners shouldn't be idiots and let dogs with aggressive tendencies run free. I've seen that way too many times, people who live in the countryside seem to think it's okay to let aggressive dogs roam around.
