ok /an/ heres the story.
a long time ago my dog kept pissing in my computer room.theres still stains in there.he's an old dog.we all got sick of the stench of piss so now we keep him out of the computer room by blocking the entrance with chairs.now,when its raining he thinks OMG THUNDER :C AND CRIES, and moans. in fact hes doing it now.whenever i yell at him to go lay down he just stands in the living room then comes back out 1 minute later behind the chair and cries moar.its ANNOYING AND I LOOSE SO MUCH SLEEP FROM HIM.I can hear him from my room,and i cant close my door or else hell barge through the chairs we put up,.

You aren't alone OP. I have a dog that does that during thunderstorms. She gets less upset if we put her in the basement, the windows are small so she can't see the lightning flash and she can't hear the thunder as much. Try disconnecting yourself from your computer and going to comfort your poor pet. If he's old you should be spoiling the crap out of him because he might not be around much longer (I know, one of my other dogs is 16).
Also, a sturdy baby gate might be better for keeping your dog out of the room. Maybe if he can see you he won't get so upset.

You can try giving him a benadryl during the storms to calm him down and help him relax. You can also go to your vet and get a stronger medication if needed. There is also a thunderstorm CAPE for dogs, no joke. And it does work for some.
