Which makes a better pet: a yellow lab or a golden retriever? What are some differences as far as temperament and intelligence?

they are the same thing

Labs. In general, goldens are very high energy dogs. If you go with golden, adopt an older one. Otherwise, get a lab pup.

I have two Goldens who just laze around all day. Not very high energy at all.

they both suck. both are so common, they arent even cute anymore. get a cool dog.

Both are generally friendly and considerd easy to train if you're not totally lazy about it. Good with kids, good with other pets, blah blah blah... typical things the average person wants in a dog.

If this is what you want in a dog, why not go to a shelter and save a life?

I also have two goldens. A pup and a 7 year old. They arn't high energy at all. Neither are labs for that matter.

From my personal experiences around both of them, goldens are easier to train.

I have two goldens, 3 and 2 years old. They are lumps for most of the day but I do take them for a couple of good long walks where they run around like idiots. What you need to know with any type of lab or retriever is they are absolutely batshat crazy until 2-4 years old. Thats when they get smart or you learn to live with how crappy you have trained them. But unless you are a horribly person, they are gentle and wonderful pets and will hardly ever even growl at anything (besides food)

I have 3 goldens, and each have different tempriments, the younger male is full of energy and likes to have the tennis balls thrown for him for hours on end, the other male can get a bit hyperactive but hes usually calm and colelcted, and our female is really lazy. It really depends on the dog, but I prefer goldens over labs

They're all dumber than a bag of hammers. Get a cat or adopt a mutt.
