Dear /an/,

I've been thinking of getting a pet animal and i've always loved fish in watertanks.
While thinking about what kind of fish I should get, I got the idea to get a pet crab.

Now my question is, could anyone provide me with some information on the basics of how to keep a sweet water crab (what it eats, what it needs, etc), since google and wikipedia seem to fail me.

Any help is appriciated.

Picture random of google.

I think your best bet on info is to just google, lol. I've always wanted crabs myself (in before joke about the disease). I hear clown crabs (I think that's the name) are pretty sweet, but you wouldn't be able to have other critters with them. Another option is hermit crabs, either land hermit crabs or, if you're more interested in water or having other critters around too, making a saltwater aquarium and adding sea-based hermit crabs. There was this absolute monster the size of a softball at the petstore I frequent.

Also crayfish seem really cool.

Actually, the coconut crab is the largest species of hermit crab. Most people don't realize it since they don't make use of a shell, but it's the same kind of crab. And yeah they are fucking huge and therefore badass.
