I have a friend who says if she was ever trapped on an island, she'd find a whale or dolphin and swim home on them.

I've tried explaining to her that they're not so friendly as Sea World and Flipper would have us believe, but she thinks they're all nice and friendly, and endeavor to protect people from sharks. She also believes Dolphins can kill sharks by slamming into their gills.

I once saw this documentary that showed dolphin mating habits, and how two males would form a little pack, and kidnap a female to take turns raping her. It also showed them stabbing smaller dolphins to death with their penis. And of course there are the numerous stories of dolphins raping people trying to feed them in the wild, and that video I'm sure you've all seen of the guy on a dock having a dolphin jump out of the water and hump him. I can't seem to find much on YouTube or Google to attest to these behaviors.

Anyone know of a place I could watch/download that documentary to show to her so she won't end up dolphin raped when she goes on a trip trying to feed wild ones?

That was obviously a trained dolphin trick...it started when he blew the whistle and stopped when he blew the whistle dip shit.

Also dolphins do kill sharks routinely actually, they poke them ventrally and in the gills until they are dead.

Dolphins do "rape" other dolphins and kill rivals, but so does any animal (pot, meet kettle).

Any proof that dolphins have killed a human?
(one killer whale incident in an aquarium doesn't count either)

I'm sure that a wild dolphin could be trained to do some things provided you had a means of positive reinforcement, but take you home...riiiight.

Considering I've met dolphins many times when sailing they are always trying to put on a good show when they see us just for the fun of it. And I even met one in the water too, it just did some funny stuff and left quickly, I doubt I could have grabbed on to it if I was drowning, then again our boat was right next to us.

He lived by the sea
The Dolphin Boy
And he loved the dolphins that swam so free
The Dolphin Boy
He was at one with the ocean
The dolphins he loved with devotion
And he could not hide his emotion
The Dolphin Boy
So he abandoned the land up above
The Dolphin Boy
So he could be with the mammals he loved
The Dolphin Boy
He was fulfilled in heart and mind
He was at one with all dolphin kind
And he knew God's greater design
Yes!
The Dolphin Boy
Then he was hit by a boat
The Dolphin Boy
He was torn wide open from groin to throat
The Dolphin Boy
He said to the dolphins, Please help me.
The dolphins said simply, E! E! E!
And they nibbled the pieces as they drifted free
Goodbye to Dolphin Boy
So long to Dolphin Boy

Dolphins are nature's attention whores.

wild dolphins are generally a pleasant lot, at least in their interractions with people. Curious and playful, they are a joy to behold.

However, the theory that one would tow you to the mainland if you should be stranded on a desert island is a bit ridiculous.

Don't you think that maybe 'rape' carries different connotations within dolphin society?

Dolphins are actually just like humans in their approach to sex and other species. A human might help another species in need even at the risk of her own life, or just watch it suffer for lulz. A human might innocently play with another animal or then decide to rape it. The only major difference between humans and dolphins is that they don't have hands to build stuff with. If they had hands, they'd be hunting us for food and sport and arguing with each other if killing humans is ethical or not.

There's absolutely no way a dolphin could rape you.

The physics of it don't work out.

Penis + hole + force = rape. What part of this escapes you?

I thought Dolphins were just like people in they don't necessarily have sex in order to reproduce, but to have 'fun'.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

You thought right. Dolphins are like humans in that they have sex for fun. And they are inventive about it. There have been documented cases not only genital and anal sex but also blowhole penetration and "sonar sex". There are straight dolphins and gay dolphins, there are dolphin rapist gangs and even zoophiliac dolphins. We'll probably never know if there are dolphins with fetishes, but I'm willing to bet there are.

Unknown if force enters the equation as we cannot know what's going on in the minds of dolphins. Also seems unlikely given the probable logistics of sex wile swimming.
