Pictured is my late hedgehog, Samus. Sadly, she died at three months old. What was horrible was that she died the same way my last one did; she started bleeding (not sure from what orifice) and refused to eat. She died within two days. A necropsy was performed on Samus though and it was found that she had impacted bowels from freeze-dried mealsworms. The vet said that freeze-dried mealworms don't have the right enzymes to allow for hedgehogs to digest them.I never read anywhere that said you couldn't feed a hedgehog freeze-dried ones. It even says on the container of freeze-dried mealworms that it is okay to feed it to hedgehogs. For anyone who does own a hedgehog or is thinking of owning one....please only feed them live mealworms! No one's little pet should have to die the way mine did. I imagine it must have been very painful.Luckily, the hedgehog breeder was nice enough to give me a replacement hedgehog. He has been dubbed Rick....Rick Astley.
I baww'd but it's great that you got another hedgehog from the breeder. Best of luck to you and Rick :3
Samus. What a great name for a hedgehog.
