Anatomically Correct Mythical Animals Anonymous
I've always been a fan of anatomically sound looking mythical animals. Gyphons that look like they fit together etc.

Best example of this I've got are the hands down best looking movie dragons. Which would be the ones from Reign of Fire.

SO /an/ I ask you. What other anatomically correct mythical beasties can you show me?
>> Anonymous
Hard to say since so many cultures usually potray them so differently(anatomically wise). And some are as simple as a cat with wings or half-man half-goat.
But I'm going to go with yeti and cerberus.

Reign of Fire had some pretty badass dragons. Even in the game.

Are you saying that dragons have penises?

The Chronicles of Narnia movie, I thought, had some of the best mythical beasts I'd ever seen in a movie, ever. The minotaurs, centaurs, and fauns especially are just a hundred times better than what you typically see on TV.

I dunno if u guys ever played D&D, but the Draconomicon has very cool pictures on dragons anatomy

Isn't Draconomicon the one with dragons built like fucking titanosaurs, or was it the recent Monster Manual? Yeah, cool, as long as you don't expect those things to actually be able to fly. I've never understood why a lot of D&D artists don't even go through the trouble of giving dragons realistic wings that could actually work, not to mention chest muscles.

The latest monster manual does have some monsters that resemble dinosaurs... actually i think it has dinosaurs, but the draconomicon has very detailed info about how the dragons are supposed to fly, their habitat their prey and organization, anatomy (muscles, bones, organs etc) and stuff... but dont believe me, heres a torrent so u can download it and see for yourself http://www.mininova.org/get/166552

You guys should all play Monster Hunter. It kicks ass, and is full of all kinds of mythical monster and creatures to fight, from giant crabs, and apes, to huge wyverns, and 1000 year old dragons.

All I know is that there is no way in hell that these fucking dragons could ever fly without some magical powers.

7gigs? Jesus fuck.

Only because most are depicted as 500' long monstrosities. If there were say, the size of a pigeon then I'm sure they could fly (at least the well designed ones.

Thanks book marked that so I can comb threw it later.

according to /d/ yes.....yes they do.

They can fly better cuz of the helium in their tummies.

a flight of dragons style?
Though that film at least made some effort to make sense.

We sure there is not an organic micro-fission reactor in them thing with loads of hydrogen gas?

Dragons as living blimps only make sense if they actually, you know, look like living blimps. That is, huge bloated things instead of streamlined reptilian bats. Having a small helium or hydrogen-filled chamber in your tummy is not going to help you if you weigh more than a human being.
