When my cats start to sneeze I just leave them be, since most of the time there's nothing you can do about it anyway, same as with humans. Of course, I guess this depends to some extent on how much "a lot" is.

Maybe monetary consideration should have come into play BEFORE getting pets. Not only food and shelter, but possible medical care, you should have money put away for that. Doesn't sound like anything serious but if they get really sick, be humane and give them to someone who is actually able to take care of animals.

Disagree. There are way too many animals in shelters and pounds everywhere. If the person wants to take care of a pet and can provide them with basic needs (food, water, shelter) then they should be able to. I'd much rather see animals with homes than to be sitting in a pound or something.

Sick cats tend to get depressed very easily, and give up the fight - make sure you give them lots of love - but let them sleep & rest too.

Make sure they have plenty of water, but make sure its not too cold for them. Also, if they aren't eating much, try warming the food up a little - to about body temperature.

Give them nice dark places where they can curl up, and if you can, give them a choice of cool or warm places to be.

Also have a look around and see if there is a vet clinic around that will do concession visits - they are around.

No. When you get a pet you accept the responsability. It's not that hard to set aside a bit of money for vet bills. Not doing so is just negligent, your pet deserves more. It's almost guaranteed that they will EVENTUALLY need veterinary care. Not just if they get sick or injured but for vaccinations and maybe spaying/neutering as well.

All of the above is true - but moot point here.

This person already has the cats, how bout helping them help the cats with some useful advice at the same time? Or is your high horse more important than the welfare of these ACTUAL cats in ACTUAL need?

Just keep an eye on them, if they sneeze for more than a week, or it starts getting worse, take them to a vets.

Also>>46240has good advice.

Try and set aside a small amount of money each week for annual vaccinations, they're not overly expensive, and they're so worth the $1-$2/week it'd cost (Australian money, I don't know what things cost in the US) to keep your cats happy and healthy.

I just spend €31.- on shots against for example catsneeze sickness(yes I translated it directly from dutch) shot and a checkover.. Didn't expect it to be that expencive.. would be around $46.-

My kitten started sneezing and I finally took him to the vet. It was an upper respiratory tract infection. $40 for the exam, $20 for antibiotics.

One of my cats gets the sneezes all the time. If it's bad, we put him in the bathroom and turn on the hot water in the shower to steam up the room. It usually loosens up the mucus and he sneezes it out. He only had to go to the vet once, and now when he gets sneezing fits, he goes and sits by the bathroom :)

Staph or strep or something like that, it could be.

OP here..
just an update..
one of them is almost totally cured.. but the other one is still sneezing a bit.
i couldn't take them to the vet so they healed themselves. i'm proud of my cats..

i promise i will save money for this kind of stuff in the future.

thanks for your help /an/.

This happened to my cat a while ago. He sneezed a lot and his eyes were quite red. The vet said that is could be the cat flu or Aids from getting into a fight. Both can be fatal. Luckily we caught ours early. It needs medicine if it had cat flu, so save or ask someone to lend you some. People should have cats if they can't afford to care for it.

Shouldn't >.>
