I'm an eurofag coming to visit you yanks in April, specifically your Yosemite national park.

Any 4channers have ideas, sugestions on what I should do or see other than the usual garb found in tourist websites?

Im currently going to Yosemite valley, and glacier bay.

We don't have Bears in France either... should I be afraid of your goddamn hillbilly yogi bears eating my american-revolution-backup french arse?

I'm not a yank. I'm from europe too:/

Lol, haven't you watched the news recently? We Americans are too fat to go hiking, let alone get up off of the sofa. Attendance at our national parks is so low the government is having problems funding them.

will you be flying into san francisco?

They won't really come after you. However, if you leave anything within their reach (including inside cars) that has any sort of food odor, toothpaste and deodorant are a couple besides actual food, they will stop at nothing to get it.

They won't eat you though. You are probably more likely to be attacked by a mountain lion than a bear.

theres signs everywhere giving you tips on how to avoid confrontations with bears and all that shit. Just pack a bowl and enjoy yourself you crazy eurofag.

The odds of a bear being near you are one to one hundred if your staying at a hotel, camping maybe five to one hundred.

If you should encounter one, don't fucking move. They literally can smell the oder of fear (sweat, piss, shitting yourself, ect.)

The same goes for mountain lions, just don't move and stare them down.

Yosemite is awesome, I went as a kid at least once a year. :)

And bears are really only a concern if you're camping out there. If you're staying in a hotel and just go to the park to hike (or even if you're staying at one of the hotels in the park) it's not really an issue. They have a lot of nice trails, and depending on the water level, you can get pretty close to a few waterfalls. Half dome is also always awesome.

Yeah, I don't know what else to tell you, it's fun and a really, really beautiful park.

yeah, jump in Ol Faithful. I heard that if you could plug that thing up, it would make the whole earth EXPLODE!!!! or i guess you could just stay in Europe and divide by zero.

Check out the giant redwoods! I swear those things just make you feel bizarre. Climb on a hill, look down at the forest and they look just like any other trees... except the people are freaking tiny!! Makes you feel like you're looking at some abstract painting it just doesn't sit well with reality somehow, least that's how I felt.

Just hiking up a mountain trail for an hour or two, getting up high enough to look down the valley is enough to fill your being with a good enough feeling for you to remember.
I went as a kid there maybe 3 times, never knew what the adults meant when they said "isnt' that gorgeous?" "Beautiful Mountains" "So peaceful", I was instead thinking "Why are we still here?" and I still felt that way when I looked at the big big valley.
Look around & get lost there, its fun.
On a side note, do remember Los Angeles is only a small part of California and doesn't mean the rest of the state is just like that one city.

Never saw a bear there or a mountain lion try to get me, but tons of squirrels will "beg" for food. Don't leave any food in your car tho, I hear the bears will literally use your car door's handle or break through the glass to jack you.

Yeah, it's too bad they don't have that huge redwood that you could drive your car through anymore... that was awesome.

Go to Glacier Point incredible view. You can drive or bus there. If you do bus up to glacier point I would recommend taking the hike from there back into the valley.
