/an/ I have a problem.
I own three dogs, a miniature pinscher(minpin), a chihuahua and a pappilon.
my problem is this the chihuahua and the minpin.

You see, my minpin is an absolute pig. seriously, I dish out canned-dog food which is kind of a special thing since they mostly eat biscuits, and I give a bowl to my minpin.

He literally scoffs it down and makes snorting noises while he's at it, when he's done he goes and eats the other 2's by driving them off.

Now my chihuahua is in bad health, he would have some food and my clever minpin would start growling at him, the chihuahua barks, causing him to drop his food, and the minpin runs away with it. It usually ends up in a fight between the two.

my chihuahua is getting very thin now, and quite unhealthy, we feed him by himself, but when we are not around the minpin just steals.

I've tried yelling at him to drop the food, and tried to act alpha but he still wont give it up.

so, could any anon please give me advice on how to stop my minpin from doing this? im worried for my chihuahua.

holy crap that got long o.O
tl;dr:
how can I stop my minpin from stealing food from my other dog?

Watch them carefully while feeding. When the Minpin starts to growl, push him to the ground and roll him onto his back. Keep him there for about 10 seconds and let him up. Do this until the Minpin stays on his back on his own.

Also, try feeding them separately. Such as locking the minpin in the bathroom or such.

I've tried stuff like that, but its just when the chi has a snack or something that the minpin snatches it off when we arent looking. I only see it if Im out there or looking through the window.

and there's nothing we can do about it since we can't be outside 24/7.

yeah, our dogs live outside, but not in kennels, they have a "tack room" kind of half-inside, half outside" thing where they sleep and rest, with beds and food.

bring your chihuaha inside to be fed, with the minpin locked outside.

Why are you feeding your dogs outside anyways? Toys dogs at that....2/3 are shorthaired rat dogs, so I'm hoping you're in a warm climate.
And if your Chi is losing weight, take it to the vet, worm it, bring it inside....
Pain can cause weightloss, something might be internally wrong that forces him to burn more fat to keep himself warm (in other words, inside dog time now), there's tons of reasons the dog should be checked.
Also, allowing your Pin to scarf your other dog's food presents probs for the Pin as well. Obesity is a major one. My mother's yorkie does the same thing. He's fat. I hope he has a heart attack soon..but that's besides the point. There's also the possibility of choking on the food eating it that fast.
But as mentioned, feed your Chi inside, Pin locked out.
Dominant behaviour from you probably isn't going to do much in this situation. Even a lowly beta will challenge and alpha for food. Most likely will get his ass kicked. But food is different from a favorite resting spot.

Feeding him outside isn't going to teach him
Maybe try having three bowls out
For actual meal let the chi and pap eat normally but have a leash on the minpin - as soon as he is done pull him back when he goes to eat the other bowls
Same with treats -- And actually try practicing two times a day with a little cookie
It's going to take a lot of time and correcting but hopefully he'll learn to not eat what isn't given to him

Lock the minpin somewhere while the chihuahua is eating T_T

Stupid OP

OP an idiot, apparently you let your dogs dominate over you by letting do what they want. Nip it in the butt and make the fucker do what you want it to do...or call Cesar milion..."cause I'am the Dog Whisperer..."

OP here,
firstly I'm a she.
secondly, I live in western australia, so its hardly ever cold out there.
thirdly, thanks for people actually helping me out.

I dont let my dogs dominate over me, they are like up to my shins for gods sake. Its just that when I am not outside, he steals food.

but the problems over anyway, Ill try to just feed them seperately, even though it will be hard since my chihuahua is absoloutely terrified of my house, since he can't stand up on the floorboards.

but, thanks!

god fucking damnit another female anon that feels the need to say "I'M A GIRL TEEHEE pay attn to this" where it's not necessary. This is a goddamn epidemic lately on the boards.

I did not post saying Im a girl just for attention.
People were calling me a he, so I thought I should tell them that Im a girl.

unnecessary post much?

..........what

If you can't give him the proper care he needs please try to find him a better home
And once again feeding them separately is not the solution
