a knockout occurs when the brain is traumatized, thing of the brain is jello (almost identical consistancy) sitting in a bowl (think of the bowl as the skull)
if you punch the bowl the jello bounces off the oposite of the bowl from where you punched it
if you rapidly twist/spin the bowl from right THEN left the jello will also spin, spin it right and the jello moves with the bowl, while it's spinning quickly spin it left and the jello will keep spinning one way while the bowl is spin the other direction, it is this spinning/twisting action that causes people to be knocked out
now horses have very long heads, if you punch it in the right spot (say the side of the mouth) the head will act like a lever making the brain twist and become traumatized
conclusion, with enough force and a good aim it's entirely possible to knock out a horse in 1 punch
