Life on "Old MacDonald’s Farm" isn’t what it used to be. The green pastures and idyllic barnyard scenes portrayed in children’s books have been replaced by windowless sheds, tiny crates, wire cages, and other confinement systems integral to what is now known as "factory farming."

Today the majority of farmed animals are:

confined to the point that they can barely move,
denied veterinary care,
mutilated without painkillers,
and finally slaughtered -- often while fully conscious.

The competition to produce inexpensive meat, eggs, and dairy products has led to animals being treated as nothing more than commodities.

Every year approximately 26 billion cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys and fish, each a unique individual capable of experiencing happiness, joy, loneliness, and frustration, are killed to satisfy America's appetite for animal flesh, milk, and eggs. Fortunately, each one of us has the power to help end this suffering by simply choosing to eat vegetarian.

>Fortunately, each one of us has the power to help end this suffering by simply choosing to eat vegetarian

Or you know, like... change the laws, or simply eat food that comes from elsewhere.

I'm not going to turn into a vegetarian just because some animals get mistreated, there is nothing 'evil' about eating meat. We NEED meat for nessesary protiens.

god damn. why can't people realize that animal crueltly, as well as raep, child abuse, murder, slavery, etc WILL NEVER STOP. illegal or not, you can't control everyone(yet).

fucking faggots. must i kill my own food for them to shut up?

>>157033

We don't NEED meat to get protein. Its just alot harder on a vegetarian diet.

>>156999

I was with this one until "are killed to satisfy America's appetite for animal flesh, milk, and eggs." Since when does milking cows, or having chickens laying eggs kill them?
>> Anonymous
>>157037
Cramp, uncomfortable pens, get beaten, mistreated, denied care if gotten hurt, etc. Eventually, cows can't give milk and are killed. Probably over-bred too.

Chickens got it worse. Forced into even tighter places(see video), forced to lay constantly, sickness spreads fast when you are that cramped, etc. Go look it up.

Heavy-handed law-making tactics don't work as well as flexing consumer muscle. Laws can be skirted by meeting minimums or bribing officials. There's NO countering the fact people just won't buy your crap.

Or for short, consumers have more power than voters. You may be both, but use the role that's stronger.

>>157039
Not certified humane eggs and milk. Chickens lay eggs all the time naturally and cows were created by us for the production of milk so there is no nature involved.

>>157039

Sounds like ghetto life really.

If humans can't improve on their own living conditions, why the fuck do you think we could, never mind your "should", treat a bunch of squealing monsters like they're royalty?

When would you americans finally understand that animals exist solely for the sake of humanity's progress? the strong wins and the weak loses, it's that simple.

Eating dogs=Eating any other animals, so no reason to accuse the chinese or korean people in anything as long as you eat meat.

>>157036
It's such a fucking stupid comment. If it will never stop, do you need to encourage it? The fact it exists doesn't make it right.
It's also a whiner point of view- "BOHO WE CAN'T CONTROL ALL OF THE BAD THINGS SO LET THEM BEEEEE".

ITT PETA fronts that try to push their agenda. They bitching about milk cows? Milk is part of a vegetarian diet, stupid shits. This website is promoting veganism not vegetarianmism. You wonder why that website doesn't have a forum? They're protecting themselves from the immense shitstorm that'll rain all over their stupid asses when people call them out on their bullshit.

This is a moot argument anyway. Do you seriously think that enough people are going to stop eating meat to affect the industry through consumer pressure? If you do, then hold on a moment. I have to finish laughing my ass off. Hell, veal is still popular, and everyone knows how inhumanely those delicious little bastards are treated.

By the way, pass me that medium rare t-bone steak, will you?

So how come we don't hear anything about the pain and suffering of plants and vegetables? Just because it doesn't have a cute face doesn't mean it doesn't miss it's ovaries... think about that the next time you eat an apple. It's still alive, we keep them confined to the refrigerator until we sear it with heat or just chew right through it's tissues. You want to argue ethics? Try looking at it from both sides.

On another topic, lets talk about your precious organic farming. Did you know that in farms that don't utilize herbicides or pesticides contain three to four times the biodiversity as those that do? Do you know what happens when it comes time to harvest?? That's right, all those little field mice, snakes, turtles, and more get choppy-choppy by the combines and threashers. And no, not all animals can outrun those. Use of pesticides and herbicides eliminate the forages wild animals can eat over a given area, meaning these animals will go elsewhere to fill their bellies and not be in harm's way BEFORE a farmer starts up his equipment for harvest. So unless you're going to encourage hand picking, STFU about El Naturale.

...and to every last one of you PETA pushers, I know you never lived on or near a farm. Pity.
>> Guodzilla
IMHO there's animal cruelty, and then there's animal cruelty. I don't own a gun, but I also don't mind sanctioned hunting of common species, like deer or various species of birds; even protected species like bison need to be thinned out from time to time in order to prevent them from overgrazing their habitat.
>>>WHY?????<<<
Because our shortsighted ancestors eliminated almost all the predators like the large canids and felids which would have taken care of that job for us. In the absence of the large predators, we have little choice but to assume their role in order to maintain a healthy ecosystem (At least as healthy as it CAN be, given the circumstances).
Second, with regard to domestic animals raised in inhumane conditions, what is the alternative? Let them live?
If we were all to become vegan and let the animals live, we would STILL have to pay for their housing and upkeep, all the time not getting any more money from the goods derived like meat, leather, etc. If we were to let them go into the wild, they would either starve and die, or they would run amok like the donkeys in the Grand Canyon, the wild pigs in Hawaii, the brown snake in the South Pacific and any other number of alien species in the world. They would devastate the ecosystems, and cause a widespread pandemic of extinctions of native species in the places where these aliens were introduced. For those of you in Florida, you know what I'm talking about. Remember the Nutria, the Asian catfish and the weed Kudzu? All three of these species were introduced, and they are causing a MAJOR headache in the South. The same thing would happen if we were to suddenly release all captive/domesticated food animals.

Listen up brothers and sisters,
come hear my desperate tale.
I speak of our friends of nature,
trapped in the dirt like a jail.

Vegetables live in oppression,
served on our tables each night.
This killing of veggies is madness,
I say we take up the fight.

Salads are only for murderers,
coleslaw's a fascist regime.
Don't think that they don't have feelings,
just cause a radish can't scream.

Cows are fucking unnecessary.
If we stopped breeding them for food, we would free up enough grain to feed the earth's entire human population.
People won't realize that breeding and raising animals for food on a massive scale is unsustainable until it is far too late and the ecosystem is in a state of complete disrepair.
>> Anonymous
>>Cows are fucking unnecessary.

He returned eating meat after a while.
