have you ever seen any dangerous animals while out in the nature?
i once saw a really big snake, maybe 5ft long, and another time i saw a really huge owl that kept following me, and have of course seen many deers in the woods.
>> Anonymous
lol flesh-eating deer?
>> Anonymous
>>98002

well, they are quite big and sometimes appear from nowhere and start running right against you, and they got horns that they can use to pierce you like a bull
>> Anonymous
>>98005
Yeah, deer do that all the time...

I've seen a bear and a lynx, both from far away, so I dunno if they should even count. I've seen a few owls and once I saw a golden eagle. It was fricking enormous! It made so much noise I thought it was a moose.
>> Arutima
got nose to nose with a bear once.
>> Anonymous
it's not out in nature, but working in a wildlife hospital I've handled foxes, badgers and swans? Swans've got a pretty damned vicious beak, and they can break a man's arm with their wings if they wanted to... Also handled deer, but only little ones? XD

In the bush out in the middle of nowhere I work with 40 or so Dingoes.

I once saw some bears in my grandmother's backyard. She lived next to a wooded area.

I've seen bobcat droppings once when I lived at home in Pennsylvania. Again, we lived next to a great wooded area.

Copperheads, nestled underneith our squash plants with some garter snakes. There were at least five snakes in all. I had put some newspaper under the plants to keep the leaves off the ground, I guess they found it comfy.

I saw a bear while I was camping.. he ran away when it noticed us.

Grizzly bears (worst vacation ever), black bears (on our fucking porch), racoons, misc venomous spiders and snakes, aligators, cougar/pumas, bobcats, feral dogs, feral cats, bald eagles (jerks nested in our cypress tree, that was the worst spring ever), and one angry-ass aligator snapping turtle.

Louisiana sucks.
>> copycat
I live in Australia, so I saw a few snakes in my time. I once saw my breeding duck eat a wild mouse that got too close to the nest, so that was KINDA dangerous.... for the mouse.
>> Anonymous
My friend saw a cougar behind her house but all I saw was a lynx, they're too small to be dangerous.
>> Anonymous
When I lived in Tennessee, our property bordered a cow farm. One time a storm caused a tree to fall on the barbed-wire fence, and all the cows came over into our yard and started munching the grass.

It was terrifying.

Texas here.

Various birds of prey: hawks, ospreys, herons & egrets, owls, etc. MANY snakes of various types, lizards, snapping turtles, bobcats, raccons, two foxes, coyotes, frogs and toads including a particularly belligerent bullfrog that tried to eat my boot, spiders of course, alligators, praying mantises, feral cats, oh, and some large predatory fish as well: barracuda & sharks.

On her walks through nature, anonymous has seen bears, moose, and giant, pissed-off looking deer. And a couple wolf spiders. And bees. Do bees count? I'm allergic to bee stings.

When I lived in South Carolina I went for a walk and saw this thing by the road. I couldn't tell what it was so I got closer and closer and after a while I said "That almost looks like an alligator." Yeah, it was an alligator. Little guy, less than two feet. I was within reach by the time I figured out what it was.

Oh, and once I got lost in the with this guy after almost sinking our kayaks (long story). It was probably around midnight and pitch black. All we had were his big mag light and a hatchet. And we heard some strange shit. Like what sounded like human screams real far off (I think they were foxes) and a growl just to our left. I don't mean "What was that" King of sound, I mean a no shit growl. Damn near pissed myself. Last time I went out on a trip like that without my 9mm.

One time I was only a few feet away from a wild rattlesnake. It had a chipmunk's tail sticking out of it's mouth that it was slowly digesting. I've seen other harmful snakes, and coyotes before.

We have tons of snakes out here in PA. Not to mention raccoons, skunks, foxes, and even the occasional coyote or puma.

Brown bears and wild hogs live farther up North too. I've seen pretty much all of them at one point.

Moose are potentially dangerous, living in Alaska and through the winter and spring there were plenty of bull moose and females with their young roaming out of the forest across the streets

I had to walk a few hundred feet to my bustop and a number of times had to have my dad come pick me up and drive me just to it because of moose close by. They'll ram you, charge, bite, trample you, they've climbed up on cars too in Anchorage
>> Anonymous
i've had deer charge at me before when i was out in the woods.
got chased by some fat raccoons and a dog when i
was out in the woods. saw a fox but it was for a split second. and saw a coyote but it was roadkill.
i see turkey vultures, hawks and eagles too.
but one time i bought some fire wood and when i opened up the bundle a shit ton of black widow spiders came out and i freaked.

fuck you New Jersey. we have shit. the only thing we got going on is black bears and they are practically shot on sight.
>> Anonymous
>>98121

won't they run away if you go near them or make noise?

one of my hunter friends trained his dog to run after mooses and chew off their legs so he could walk there and cut the throat, and he has never been injured himself even when getting that close to injured specimens

but he obviously cares about his dog if he lets it run after moose.

isn't it illegal for someone to hunt deer, elk, moose, etc with dogs?

Seen a couple black bears, but what really suprised me were the lynxes. Those things are really small, much smaller than I though they'd be. One I saw recently was not even the size of a housecat. It was walking through the parking lot where people park their car before they go hiking, and I thought someone had accidentally let their house cat out. But then I realized that all the houses were at least 1 mile away. The biggest one I've seen came up to about three inches above my knee. Even our trail guide said that he'd seen that one a couple of times, and it was quite large as lynxes go.
>> Anonymous
Oddly enough, there was a large black bear in my back yard just today.

Someone steal one of those cubs in the OPs picture.

I think you'll be safe, bears are real slow. I mean look at the size of them.

I got a friend who did volunteer search and rescue work, on one winter night time rescue call, they were stalked by a couple of cougars for a while... probably about 10 meters or so behind them. They found the cougar tracks in the snow on their way back down the mountain, the tracks were following the human tracks, and they hadn't been before they went up the hill.

Real life cows are fucking terrifying. I don't know what kind of CGI cows they show on television, but real cows don't make sounds like "moo".

They are huge animals with real vengeance in their hearts that make horrible foghorn-like howling noises that basically sounds like the noise you hear in Silent Hill games when you switch over from the only mildly creepy fog-town into the one with bleeding walls and horrible fetus-animals.
>> Anonymous
Holy shit. Agreed. You captured it perfectly.
>> Anonymous
Cows do fucking suck. Foghorn is right. This time of year, around 8pm, when they head back to the barn, it's not a low lazy 'moooooo', no it's aaaAHHH, aaaaAAAAHH, aaaaAAAH till 10 at fucking night.

Damn cows.

I hope you aren't being sarcastic, because cows fucking creep me out. I live down the road from a dairy farm. One day, when it was raining, I drove past, and the cows were standing in the woods, amid the trees...there was all this fog around their feet, and they all swung their heads to watch me go by, chewing their cuds. Just staring at me, chewing.

Fucking eerie as hell.

Once when I was younger, I fell asleep while eating some icecream and was awoken by what I thought was my dog licking the left over ice cream off my face.

It wasn't my dog.

It was a motherfucking black bear.

I passed the fuck out from fright and woke up a little while later with dried bear saliva all over my face, and dried shit all over my pants.

Seconded. Years ago I went to Engelberg, Switzerland with my family and we saw a shit ton of cows. It was so cool. Everyday you heard cow bells ringing and that foghorn 'moo'. But the trails were covered in cow pies, so you had to be careful where you stepped.

During that trip we actually got lost and walked through someone's cow farm. Two cows actually led us through the farm along a path. It was hilarious.

Here's a picture of my mom following the cow.

I've been on a dairy farm on several occasions back when I was a wee lad (5-8 years old). Imagine those HUEG cows standing in a row just looking... looking... (and bawling occasionally) at you. Then one ate my hat. I was all "Oi you! That's my hat. Give it back! You are a cow. It doesn't even fit." ...And they drool like severe retards. I've also seen a moose in the wild a couple times, once a BIT too close, actually. And I vaguely remember seeing a bear through a car window when I was about five years old. But it might be a false memory. ...I've also stared down a stray/feral(?) dog a few times.

Southern California here.

Once while hiking around a pretty rocky beach/dry brush area, a small rattlesnake (which looked like a rock when I walked toward it, all curled up) LEAPT at me with a hiss, and its nose bumped my leg- luckily wasn't close enough to bite. I don't think I've ever jumped higher in my life, I swear I went at least five or six feet in the air. The camp counseler that took us on this hike just laughed. What a bastard.

Once, while driving around town a year or so ago, there was a coyote wandering the street. Now this was a residential area, I wouldn't be surprised to see one up in the houses near the hills, but this thing was just wandering a completely developed town in the middle of the day. Poor thing must've been desperate for food.

Black widows a few times in the garage and in the garden, and found one in my brother's bedroom. THAT one really freaked me out, as I've never seen those damn fuckers anywhere but outside. Yuck.

While driving down a windy mountain road, a hawk tried to swipe our car (it was fucking massive) but just thumped against the roof and flew off.

I can't think of anything else right now
