Though normally placid, if you force an anteater to defend itself, it can so some very serious damage. Their forearms are hugely powerful, and the claws very long and sharp. If they can tear open a termite mound thats as hard as concrete without breaking a sweat, imagine what they can do to your leg.

I did this once to a Great Dane (I hadn't seen these pictures) and oh my lord, he started *growling* at me and until then had been relatively friendly and amiable.

Don't do this around dogs and animals you don't know, this seriously is just one of those things in nature- trying to make yourself bigger = meaner.
