My hamster's 2 years old and i think he's going senile. He's forgotten how to lick the water out of his water bottle, instead he tries to bite the metal tube to get the water out. He then gets frustrated that no water is coming out and starts clawing the metal like mad. So i've now had to start giving him water in a bowl.

Sounds like you're dumb and the hamster is bored.

My mice would do that sometimes too. I never found out why. I suspected it might have been a faulty water bottle for a while, but it wasn't. Have you checked that?

If you have water in a bowl, make sure you change it every day to keep it fresh.

I've checked the bottle and it's fine, he's just forgotten how to lick it properly. That's what happens if you've got a brain the size of a pea.

You could give him some sort of untreated wood to chew on... And some stuff to shred as an activity! I dunno, really.

Remember the part where I said you were dumb and the hamster was bored?

He's got plenty of things to play with so i don't know why you're saying he's bored.
