Purina: sensitive systems. My cat throws up if she doesn't eat that. :(
>> tigerfeather !CrwtTbFNxQ
I feed Nutro Natural Choice to my cats. As far as which is "best," it really depends on how your cat's system reacts to the ingredients. Some cats do better on certain brands than others. By better, I mean that a cat's coat will be just slightly glossier on one food than another, and may have a little more energy. Usually, though, in the realm of premium and super-premium foods, the difference in results is so marginal that usually only people who show their animals notice. As long as you're feeding a premium food (read: not anything you can get at a grocery store), you should be fine.

I personally stay away from Science Diet as the amount of corn products in it is still being debated and I prefer to not cause any unneeded stress on my cat's system.

Science Diet Sensitive Stomach whatever it is.

I heard Natural Choice and Science Diet are the top two healthiest
y/n?

All cheap storebought brands usually under $12 a bag are loaded with by product, preservatives, sodium, corn, etc will give cats various health problems and decrease their lifespan

what a bunch of fucking retards

its a cat, just give it whatever's cheapest. HE CANT TELL

Eukanuba lamb and rice. Its high quality food, and they like it a lot. Our vet told me that the cheap foods is the equivalent of feeding them nothing but potato chips and candy bars. I want my boys t live a long time.

>>176537

I think you're the retard. It's not so much a question of what will the cat it, but what's GOOD for the cat.

Cats are obligate carnivores. They cannot digest vegetable matter, and their diet MUST contain taurine, otherwise they suffer kidney failure. Cheap cat food contains little to no taurine, and they use vegetable products (like the aforementioned corn) as a filler. Feeding that kind of food to your cat will cause health problems.

I feed my cats and dogs Solid Gold brand food. My Siberian Husky eats the Barking at the Moon one, which is designed for the more performace dogs (As he pulls me 10+ miles daily).

My cat eats the Katz n Flocken which has the following ingredents:
Protein, Min 34%
Fat, Min 12%
Fiber, Max 4%
Moisture, Max 10%
Calories per cup, 323

Ingredients Lamb | Chicken Meal | Millet | Brown Rice | Ocean Fish Meal | Cracked Pearled Barley | Canola Oil | Natural Flavor | Salmon Oil (source of DHA) | Flaxseed | Potassium Chloride | Choline Chloride | Taurine | Dried Chicory Root | Amaranth | Parsley Flakes | Spearmint | Almond Oil | Sesame Oil | Yucca Schidigera Extract | Kelp | Thyme | Blueberries | Cranberries | Apples | Lentils | Quinoa | Vitamin E Supplement | Iron Proteinate | Zinc Proteinate | Copper Proteinate | Ferrous Sulfate | Zinc Sulfate | Copper Sulfate | Potassium Iodide | Thiamine Mononitrate | Manganese Proteinate | Manganous Oxide | Ascorbic Acid | Vitamin A Supplement | Biotin | Calcium Panthothenate | Manganese Sulfate | Sodium Selenite | Pyridoxine Hydrochloride | Vitamin B12 Supplement | Riboflavin | Vitamin D Supplement | Folic Acid |

Really hard to beat that. Both my dogs and cats look beautiful. I have a 22, 17, 11, two 5 year old, a 2 year old, and a 4 month old kitten on it. None of them have been to the vet for anything but annual checkups since I got them at 3 months old.

Same goes for my dogs. 19, 18, 14, 9, two 4's, and two 2 year old's all on it.

I really REALLY like the Solid Gold pet foods, especially the wet foods. If I had to feed an animal wet food, I would certainly use theirs. It's hard to find where I live, so it's just easier for me to feed Nutro than Solid Gold. I would recommend it over almost anything else, if one has the meas to obtain it.

I had a friend who did some hardcore research on cat food, and most of those science or whatever cat foods are only recommended by vets because they pay them alot.

you should read up about the raw food diet, which goes back to nature and you feed them raw fish, chicken, etc.
it was on oprah too.

here is some info on the raw diet

I dunno. I've heard a lot of people I am inclined to trust say that the raw food diet is overhyped. Are you sure you're not just a hippie?
>> Anonymous
>>177489
Good point. If you really want to do raw you'd better research the fucking shit out of your diet plan. Don't just taking a guess ... "well this is raw so it must be better than kibble". I've seen severly malnourished dogs whose owners thougt they could get by with feeding them raw eggs and steak meat alone.

Raw diets can go horribly, horribly wrong. Animals often get salmonella or E.coli because the food is not propperly stored/dishes not sanitaized enough, etc. Many vets will not recommend them for these reasons. Today there are enough high quality feeds available that you don't need to lose sleep if Fido isn't eating RAW.

Also, fuck trendy diets.
>> tigerfeather !CrwtTbFNxQ
>>177508
Not only that, but a lot of times there aren't enough vitamins to healthily sustain your animal. Yeah, they'll have a glossy coat because of the raw fat that they're eating, but ultimately their health will suffer.

>>176699
Goes back to nature? Like the wild? Cats are domesticated, and have been for some 4,000 years. You don't see people doing the same thing for cows or goats. As long as you're not feeding your cat table scraps and dust mites, it should be fine on a branded kibble or wet diet. Raw diets should only be cautiously implemented, and only with help from your vet. It tends to be much more expensive (and WAY more time consuming!!) than premium formulated diets.

I feed my cats Medical, which can be found at overpriced veterinary hospitals across North America.

But, in all honesty, they prefer the no-name, mystery-meat wet food I get at the dollar store.

We've had dry food kill our cats because it was stored improperly and toxic mold grew in it. Make sure it's fresh if you buy dry. I suggest wet Friskies, though

Science Diet Sensitive Stomachs

Expensive, but the cheap stuff makes my cats sick. :(
>> Anonymous
Yeah many of the pet food companies have their product made outside of the US, meaning that the companies that sell them really have no control on what goes into them.

A lot of manufacturers overseas were putting a filler used in plastics production into the food to trip out the tests that measure how much protein is in them. Since protien is usually a measure of quality, they were cheaping out and putting some cheap as fuck shit in the food just to make more money.

Who knows what else goes into cat food. I feed my cats friskies wet food, and they have had health problems.
>> tigerfeather !CrwtTbFNxQ
>>177883
Oh? What wonderful brand do you feed your cat that wasn't involved in the recall?

Also, the recall was for mostly wet food only, but a couple of prescription "semi-moist" diets were also affected.
>> Anonymous
>>177991
Falsis in unum, falsis in omnibus. If they're using sub-par ingredients in some of their foods then how can you be certain the ingredients used in the foods NOT involved in the recall will be safe for your pet?
Fuck them, my money says don't buy tainted Chinese gluten on the cheap and it'll be a cold day in hell before these companies see any of my hard earned money.

You don't know. But at the same time, you also don't know wether or not the "good brands" are using substandard ingredients or not either.

Keep in mind that the companies affected by this recall got screwed just as their customers did. Their Chinese supplier deliberatley altered the ingredients they were sending them, and they did it in such a method as to avoid detection during testing of the products. They were victims of fraud.

Purina Indoor formula for their dry food and Fancy feast wet food.
We have a lot of trouble with cheap wet food, they usually mess up the digestion in both my cats. Dry food we usually stick to Purina, unless there is something else on sale. WE never get cheap food. Our cats are getting too old to handle those things.
As for a raw diet. We give our cats treats of raw or cooked meat once in a while. They love it but I would never consider giving it to them as their primary diet.
