I'm pretty sure that's an elephant seal, though I could be wrong.

Right or wrong it's definately NOT a manatee.

The big one is a male and the small one is a female? If so, it is like the Fat Bastard question. "Who could you? The physics are impossible."

Oh man, anyone got full picsfrom that set?

It's a male (bull) since it's two large it's not an Elephant seal since it lacks the nose but it is a large male seal.

small one is a female since males are 4 to 5 times larger than females usually in the pinnapeds.

Not positive the small one is the same species
-- looks like a harbor seal to me. If it is the
same species, it's not full-grown yet.

I just wish I knew what the larger one was. The size screams "elephant seal", but it doesn't
have the nose...

kindof related, but this is the best elephant seal video ever:

Oh, duh. It's a southern elephant seal -- they're not only larger than the northern kind, but lack the giant floppy proboscis.

As for the little one, it looks very much like a harbor seal. Spotted, small head-to-body ratio. Can't tell whether it's male or female, though, there's very little variation in the genders in harbor seals.

"Oh, duh" directed at myself, for knowing what it was and then getting confused anyway. Enjoy another harbor seal, because I love them so.

Oh, in case the original poster did indeed want a manatee-human size comparison, this was the first decent one I found.
