No it means it will keep damaging her eyes. She's got the eyeaids.

Tulip freaks me out, but she's still oddly endearing.

What exactly is the deal with her eyes, anyway?

Sorry, but I'm going to have to take anon's side in this. Everyone on 4chan should know what ED is (encyclopedia dramatica and erectile dysfunction)

Yes, a gallery should be added. The fishing cat article doesn't have nearly enough fishing cat images.

I agree. More pics.

Also, Fishing Cat's article is sadly unfunny. It completely fails to mention Fishing Cat's god-like power to seduce your mom.

And having a vet drain the excess fluid once every few months isn't an option because..?
>> Anonymous
>>168095
Because it's actually a very rare genetic eye disease, not just glaucoma (though she also has glaucoma). Maybe the guy who takes the picutres of her will come and explain it better.
>> TulipStalker
>>168111
This is Tule's owner. They actually don't know what she has. She has glaucoma and retinal degeneration, but they don't know if this is a side effect of the disorder or if it is the cause of the disorder. The vets actually took a pic of her to put in some vet book. I majored in genetics and am willing to say that it is some sort of mutation. Regardless, she is my love. TULIP ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

She's a darling chubby thing isn't she?

Anyone know how old she is and if she can feel any pain because of her eyes?
>> TulipStalker
>>168380

She just turned six, this month. As far as we know, she doesn't feel any pain on account of her eyes.
>> Anonymous
>>168508

Tulip appears to have a lot of HAET. Are you sure that she's not in any pain? Or is her special medication keeping that under control?
>> Anonymous
>>168531
If you look at the OP picture, it's clear that Tulip longs to be dictator of the world, the fact that she isn't is the source of her haet.
>> Anonymous
>>168536

Perhaps Tulip sits behind the scenes, manipulating the fate of our poor, pitiful, world from afar?
>> Anonymous
>>168188
Actually, she had glaucoma when she was born, which I hear is quite unusual. The vets said that something could have happened to her in the womb. ..I still think it's genetic.

Question: is this Tulip's baby photo? It seemed obvious before, until someone pointed out that the kitten in the pic does not have the white patch above Tulip's left eye.

Stalker, sir, I have a question. Have her eyes gotten larger as she has aged? The reason I asked this is recently a guest noted that Snailcat's eyes are much larger in comparison to that of the snailkittens or my other cats. I think it is just that her face is shorter or they are placed higher up on her skull, and they are not anywhere near the huegness of Tulip's beautiful eyes. Maybe it's just that everyone is used to her glaring all the time that when she opens her eyes all the way it is creepifying?
>> Anonymous
>>168579
Yes, this is Tulip. She got the white patch when she was two yrs old.
>> TulipStalker
>>168591

My gf says her eyes have gotten (maybe) a little larger; in the kitten-pic above, you can see that her eyes are much larger in proportion than now.

However, eye-growth is still a relatively little-researched phenomonon. In people, eyes start out about 18mm and grow to 24-25mm. Whereas, in rabbits, there can be (as much as) 230% axial growth. I couldn't find any research on cats, but my guess is that (like rabbits) the relatively short neotany rate and the low gestation rate would require fairly robust postnatal axial eye growth.

Oh, yeah, BTW, frolicking:

it's a shame tulip isn't up for breeding, would really be interesting to see if the big eyes is a heridatry trait that could be passed to kittens. You could be on the thresh hold of a new cat breed! It would be like the munchkin cat, one cute mutant and a willing owner and the rest is history.
>> Anonymous
>>168690
too cute
>> TulipStalker
>>168692
That's what I was thinking. But the vet told me that it was mean of me to want to pass on this trait. It really upset me; he was very rude. He made her sound like some kind of horrible creature when all I could see was this cute little kitty. Then, when she was two or three, she got a really bad infection and had to have a hysterectomy.

I think it would be cool to get her cloned. It would be awesome to have an army of Tulips. Then she really could take over the world.

>> Anonymous

If you really considered breeding your cat with known genetic defects, you're a very cruel person.

OH HEY I have a dog who was born with hip problems and deaf and blind, maybe I should breed HER!
>> Anonymous
>>168733
Who are you to say what a genetic defect is? Nature changes, it's what it does. It does this by creating new variations that either thrive or die. There is nothing cruel about wanting to breed Tulip.
>> Anonymous
>>168740

Tulip has glaucoma and is probably nearly blind

And since when does nature dictate in which directions domesticated animals evolve? Humans are the ones who are deciding here, retard.
>> Anonymous
>>168742
nearly blind cats do not play with laser pointers
>> Anonymous
>>168742
nature still tries. Big eye cats are an evolution in cute!
>> Anonymous
>>168733

You, sir, sound just like the Nazis.

Perhaps we should sterilize anyone that has less-than-perfect genes?

Breeding or cloning Tulip would be no different than breeding any other animal for a desireable trait. Many domestic animal breeds have "downsides" to them, but that doesn't stop them from being used (in the case of farm animals) or loved (pets) by humans.

Glaucomacat FTW.
>> Anonymous
>>168757
Breeding animals with known genetic defects because they're "cute" is CRUEL and selfish.

Also, you fucking autofail once you compare anything to Nazis, Hitler, or Auschwitz.
>> Anonymous
>>168758
You do know you're saying breeding the munchkin, or the sphinx, or for white fur, or different color eyes, or any possible trait the breeder is striving to achieve outside of random cat on cat action, are all examples of animal cruelty.
>> Anonymous
>>168758

Your problem lies in your misapplication of the word "defect".

Tulip has large eyes. It is certainly different. Does that meet the definition of a defect? Apparently she can see just fine. You can see in the videos that she can clearly tell what is going on in her surroundings. What is the problem? Whatever her condition is, it doesn't appear to be affecting her life.

Calling Tulip's eyes a defect is no different than sticking the label "defect" on short people, or people with bald spots, or people who are overweight.

If you say that Tulip should't be bred becasue of a "defect", then what about people with heart disease running in their family? Should we sterilize those people? What about diabetes? Cancer? Crooked teeth? Hammer toes?

Let's have a look at your family tree. I'm willing to bet that your family has quite a few "defects" in it. Should we have stopped them from having children?
>> Mr. Anonymouse
>>168764
I'm pretty sure all of 4chan should be sterilized.
>> TulipStalker
My GF is applauding the proTulip corner. Anyways, it is moot point unless y'all want to chip in many thousands of dollars to get her cloned. (My GF points out that we know enough geneticists/have access to lab materials that---in theory---this could be done ``for free''.)
>> Anonymous
This whole argument is silly, considering we don't really know if A) Tulip's extra large eyes are genetic or not, or if B) having such giant eyes would lead to glaucoma and loss of vision in the kittens, or if Tulip's case is special.

>>168853
must breed successive generations leading to ULTRA EYES!, mebbe even some kind of radar
