sup, /an/? This is my new 5(?) month old kitten. I recently (like a week ago) adopted her from a family that rescued her from a cat house, as in 100+ cats running around indoors and out. She has been the most loving little lapcat I've ever had. I'm worried about her though because she sneezes a LOT. Literally she sneezes once an hour. She's not fixed and has not had shots. Can cats get allergies? We live in a really dry climate, so maybe that's the problem, but I adopted her from the same city.
tl;dr: why does my cat sneeze so much?

She probably caught something when living in the cat house, take her to a vet and get her shots and fixed, you don't want YOUR house turning into a cat house.

I'm not sure, since I don't know much about cats. If you're really worried, ask your vet. It can't hurt.

Obvious question, but is your house dusty? Like dogs, obviously, cat's noses are more sensitive than ours and thus even dust that doesn't bother you may bother the kitty. So yes, cats can get allergies.

yeah we've probably never vacuumed. I thought maybe it was the dryness because I have sinus problems too. How much is it to get her shots?

Perhaps it's the dust, then, in which case she's probably fine but you should still vacuum because it's uncomfortable for her.

To get her shots? It depends on the vet, for sure. Other than that, I'm not sure exactly how much. I don't have a cat, so...

You could call them up and ask?

No problem, Anon. Do you know what breed of cat she is? Looks like a tabby to me, but I could be wrong.

If there is no mucus discharge from the nose and/or runny eyes, then it is the dry conditions. Add humidity (good for you too) and give her a little spray of sailene solution from the drug store once or twice a day. USE SALINE (SALT) ONLY, not the anti-histimine kind

Yeah her eyes are pretty runny, but her nose isn't running at all. I'll take her to the vet monday

When you say that she was rescued, does that mean they took her from the home (ie stole her) or that she was rescued by an organization and they adopted her out?

Do you have any other cats? KEEP THEM AWAY.

Cats from hoarders are usually put to sleep for good reason. Even if they are sweet, loving cats, they are also generally fucked up in the head and health wise.

Get the cat to a fucking vet. She may have "kitty aids" (no joke) or worse.

no, the woman is part of an animal rescue organization, so she's fine. I dont have other cats but I brought her to see my neighbor's cats. their cats were alright except the alpha female was beating on my kitten. my kitten just sniffed the other cats. she hasn't shown signs of anything like she's crazy though
