wtf. I don't understand why you'd want an animal like that when it looks like you've taken a hammer to it's face.

At this point in time, I seriously think designer animals are a bad idea. It's already been proven that they are at higher risk for diseases and such, and you end up with really freaky looking ones, too. Just so someone can say, "Oh, I don't own just ANY dog, this is a Puffed Pointy-Eared Pom-pom Pinscher!"

I agree. The horse I posted has had problems with his nasal passage. Go figure.
Plus...it's just...ugly.

Everybody knows what a bulldog looks like, but how many know that a bulldog's skull is this distorted? Just imagine if some alien race decided to domesticate humans for pets and breed us into "Persians humans" or "bullhumans".

our generation time is way to long for them to breed us like that, it would take hundreds of thousands of years to get the face just right

Our generation time is only about 10-12x as long. If it would take hundreds of thousands of years to breed humans because of our generation time it'd take tens of thousands of years to breed a new breed of dog.

Also humans make a better base for domestication than many species (wolves do so as well) because of our extensive group behavior. Domestication of a wolf basically consists of breeding the desire to be alpha out of it and a bit of aggression reduction. Once this is accomplished you have what is pretty much a new breed of hunting dog, more similar to the Basenji in attitude than to more heavily domesticated breeds.

Domestication of a line of wolves can take as few as 50-100 years with careful breeding. While this isn't the same as creating a heavily bred animal like the bulldog, it does involve selecting for desired traits so I feel it still makes a decent example.
