Buying a baby jackson Sang
Alright, well i have decided to purchase my first chameleon, a jackson none the less, i am aware of there needs.
im still trying to figure out how im gonna set up a good mist system/ drip system for when i can't be home.

the one ill be getting won't be more then a few weeks old *pic related*...they just hatched.

im wondering if anyone else here has had a chameleon this small, and has any good tips or lessons they learned while dealing with there jackson chameleon.

I had a chameleon, believe me when I tell you that you really need to get a good set up going loooong before you take them home. The dripping water is the hardest part. They sell waterfalls for enclosures works best-- those little dripper things either leak or don't drip at all.

These mesh cages are a cheap alternative to big screen cage set ups. Most cham breeders use them, and they're soooo much cheaper.

Oh, also, try to find an expandable brick bedding (they're on petco and petsmart's websites) they're usually called eco-earth or forest floor bedding and they work best for chameleons since they retain a lot of moisture.

I'm sure they also have programable misters for when you can't be around, but they are probably pretty expensive. Worth it in the long run though.

I'd seriously recommend having your own cricket and fruit fly cultures established beforehand as they eat a lot and it can be hard sometimes to find a pet store with fruit flies or sufficiently small pinheads. You don't want to wind-up paying out the ass for express shipping or risk going for a week without a feeding when they're that small.

I agree. It's very difficult to find the right size crickets for a baby cham, they have to be very tiny. Fortunately setting up a cricket breeding system isn't difficult.

well im not worried about food. i have probably one of the best pet stores in arizona right down the street from me. they got what ever i need no matter what.

im not inexpereinced with animals such as these, i have two dendrobautus aeratus dart frogs which i have had for a while, i know they arn't as complicated as the chams, but im ready for something challenging.

my biggest issue is getting a proper humidty set up considering how young they are. im not supposed to do a drip system. and pools are bad when they are that small. i got to wait about a month till i set up a drip system.

my concern is more for younger chameleons. im sure there are things i can do easly to create a good humidty level. but im worried about having to buy a small cage to house it and then upgrade later on, since im going to do a custom enclosure.
