Emperor Enclosure Anonymous
I'm getting my first Emperor Scorpion this weekend. Pic is enclosure I setup this week for it.

I've got a infrared heat bulb on top of it and I was wondering if those ceramic heat emitters are any better? Temp is usually around 82-83, but if possible I'd like it to be a little higher. I've got tin foil sealing the top too.

82-83 directly under the heater, or the entire tank? Scorpions fare best with a gradient and the emperor should have a low in the mid 70's. And be careful with ventilation- like tropical frogs they require considerable humidity but at the same time are extremely susceptible to fungal infections.

The light is on the ride of the tank, as show in the picture. You can see the digital thermometer in the middle of the tank. The humidity is fine, the false bottom takes care of it.

It's not the humidity itself I was saying you should worry about, but the fact that a humid, warm, and dark enclosure with minimal air movement is ideal for fungal growth, and fungal respiratory infections is one of the biggest killers of captive Pandinus scorpions. Once they get spores on their book lungs they're fucked.

Yeah, in the general research of Emperor care I've read about the dangers of fungus and mold. I'll regulate airflow as needed to make sure nothing grows in there.

What about the heat though? Like I said, 81-83 where the thermometer is in the middle. I've been told it's good to raise the temp slightly higher during molting, to about 86.
