Understand that there may be more to science than what merely resides in the the physical plane.

Actually, .....Yes!

I'm done. This won't go anywhere for either person. Let the guys in /x/ handle this one. Enjoy responding to deaf ears (so to speak).

either person? there were at least two people responding to your posts (>>106747here), and that was the only post i made in this thread (aside from this post).

Actually, depending on what he means by "physical plane," he may be right. If we define 'physical plane' as just whatever's in this universe, there *may* be a shitload of other stuff out there in other universes. I recall reading in...either Scientific American or Discovery magazine, that there are some theories postulating that a multiverse may be the simplest way to explain why our universe has the physical characteristics it does--it's just one option out of a literal infinity of others.

Could be wrong, though, have any of you sciencefags heard anything like that?

Yep. Many people think that reality is constantly branching out into new universes, each completely inaccessible from the others. One of the weirder predictions of quantum physics, but a fairly widely accepted one.
>> Gunlord !.YMO7aNBcQ
>>106829
Out of curiosity, is there any way to test that hypothesis? Sorry for my ignorance (i suck at science) but I'm just wondering if the multiverse thing is just a prediction based on our current knowledge of quantum fizix, or if anyone's actually managed to perform any experiments or anything that would lend credence to the idea of an alternate universe existing. A lot of sci-fi revolves around alternate dimensions, dimensionhopping, etc. so it sounds like a kewl prospect if it was true :x

I'm not a physicist yet, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do study under one, and he's repeatedly stated that the Many Worlds Interpretation is no more or less consistent with the evidence than the Copenhagen Interpretation or a number of other interpretations which I don't quite grok at present. He's also of the opinion that the MWI is both unfalsifiable and a flagrant violation of Occam's Razor, and from my near-layperson's position, I'm inclined to agree.

Not that I'd presume to say the final word about something I really don't understand that well, but if I had to pass judgment I'd say the popularity of the MWI has more to do with physicists' overactive imaginations and spiritual inclinations than with valid induction from empirical evidence.

Is it wrong to fap to pictures of earth landscapes? -_-

At least, pictures of this calibur.

>>106870
Ahhh, I see. Somewhat disappointing, but oh well...no dimension-hopping adventures for us, I suppose ;_;
