Red-Eared Sliders Anonymous
Ok, I've had these turtles for about 2 months now, and they seem to be doing alright except for always begging for food (Which I hear they do a lot so I sometimes ignore them).

My concern, however, is this white substance that is building up on their basking ramp. Pic related. It looks red, obviously from the heat lamp, but it is white.

Does anyone know what that is?

Here's a close-up.

You really couldn't remove the heat lamp/screen top for that photo? They're turtles, they're not gonna fly out.

Apparently you've never played world 1-3.
Fix'd.

Its turtle shit, clean it you tool

Not turtle shit.
It's basicly just calcium deposits from the water.

Also, by putting your light over the screen you're filtering out the light.
Cut a hole in the screen so that the light shines directly into the enclosure.

its just calcium build up. like how most shower heads get that white shit after awhile. not a big deal...water will do that annoying shit. the only way to get rid of it is with toxic chemicals in ajax, comet, and other cleaning products. just leave it....not hurting your turtles and it never will.

That set up looks rather familiar. I think I may know this anon. OP, do you also have some larger turtles in a big pool thing in the same room as this tank?
