I saw a mouse on my table a few weeks ago. I screeched and it got surprised and fell off (it was right next to the edge). I tried to find it afterward, but it was no where to be found. How can I find and catch it?

Thanks. I'll check it out.

kill it with a snap trap. as must as i love rodents, wild ones carry disease and the like.
just don't use glue traps, those are inhumane. if you're gonna kill it, kill it quick.

I've done that. A bit messy indoors, though. Really fun with mice.

First things first. Remove its source of food and seal up its entrances to your house. This is the only long term solution.

For direct removal to be used in tandem with the above advice, use your choice of:

1) Use a small live trap baited with peanut butter followed by either release or euthanasia.

2) Use a strong snap trap, again baited with peanut butter, placed against the wall.

3) For a humane and reusable (but somewhat expensive) kill device, look into the rat zapper

I don't have any experience with it but it seems to have good reviews.

yup. the ones that clamp down.
you can get really good ones called "the shark", i think.
you can also get ones that catch them alive so that you can release them into the wilderness, which is fine if you don't wanna kill them/don't want any gutsy remains to clean.

just no glue traps. it usually takes 3 - 5 days for the mouse/rat to die of starvation/dehydration, which is a pretty shitty way to die. best make it quick.

Wrong. You don't have just ONE of them.

I had one of those except without the spike in the center, thing sucked. only got the rats arm so the poor thing was dragging it around half the day and had a broke arm when i finally found it. :( my parents made me drown the poor thing in a bucket.

seriously. I bought a house that was overtaken by mice, rats, and gophers. All the traps in the world didn't stop them. Different rodents go for different traps. Some traps sat dormant, and others got used once an hour. Cleaning out and resetting traps is nasty. The only solution is t get a cat. If you don't want a pet cat, then adopt someone's out of the paper, or one from a shelter (make sure it's not declawed) and leave it outside. It will slowly take care of itself.

Don't use the cheap dollar store traps, they're garbage. Victor traps, FTW!

This is especially true of no-kill traps. Those Mousecubes they sell at Wal-Mart and drug stores won't catch anything unless your mice have the Down's.
