No, that is not how you take care of a pregnant horse.

This sounds like serious business. I would consult places other than 4chan, at least in addition.

be sure to kick it in the stomach every day before you mount her

OP here. yeah, that's her. she's 6 months along! :)

First off, talk to your vet. They'll have a lot more useful advice, and you'll need to stay in contact with then during your new horse's pregnancy anyway.

This link is very basic, but gives the gist of it.. most people stop riding a few months before the mare gives birth, and riding should probably be gently before then anyway.

Once again, your vet/people at your farmyard will be able to give you sound advice. Good luck, OP.

Light riding is fine as long as the mare obviously isn't in any distress. I've worked with a QH breeder before and she rode her mares up until they got huge- around two or three months before they were due.

She will need different food and possibly a supplement depending. But yes, call your vet. He/She will be an active part in your mares birth of the foal and afterwards.

If your geldings (I assume they are geldings, if they're stallions you'll have a different situation on your hands) are not very friendly to other new horses, or are territorial, you'll want to keep her by herself, maybe within visual range of the other horses. Don't want any of them kicking mom in the stomach by accident. You'll also need to keep the separate after she foals.

She's a cute mare. QH? Do you know what color the sire is?

thanks for the advice. my dad already got her set up w/ a vet, I just wanted some info so I could help out.
the sire is an awesome dark amber color, he's real tall too. shame the owner didn't keep her. the pregnancy was "an unwanted surprise"
