Bear is a pussy! He is always: "Baw! this is horrible"
An adviser to the Man vs. Wild/Born Survivor series had claimed that Grylls had been staying at a California motel while filming. A crossing of a deep crevass was shown to be just yards from a busy highway[17]. Similarly, it was alleged that Grylls had stayed at a crew base-camp in the Costa Rican jungle, while giving viewers the impression that he was alone. These allegations were confirmed by Channel 4, who argued that it wasn't a documentary, but a 'how-to' guide to survival, implying that 'faked' or re-shot scenes were acceptable in that context.

Les Stroud is tough. He eat bugs like if they were doritos and don't have a cameraman. This means that he carry about 50 pounds (22.7 kg) with all cameras and audio gear.

I saw a grub that big when I turned over a log for something... scared the piss out of me and I ran into the house.

Of course not, I'll turn into a giant beetle.

Could be something like the Goliathus in pic, but I really don't know what I'll become before I hatch.

They might need this for their pupation stage.

As you can see, mostly awesome big bugs with a very hard carapax emerge, so the reorganization of its whole body seems to require lots of energy and material.

The tagline for this picture made this cute: These beetles run around inside the California poppies in
my yard, getting covered in pollen. This one has fallen out
onto a plant under the poppy. Its a Short Winged Flower Beetle.

Les Stroud can't get back to civilization. he'd end up living out a long life ALONE

i'd rather see a how-to on making it back with what i';d likely have than learn to be a hermit from a guy hloding onto technology i'd never have.

You forgot to mention the river log ride episode where you can clearly see a life jacket under his clothes.

>> Anonymous

Actually, there have been more than plenty episodes where Les Stroud makes it back to civilization. Boreal forest, he finds a road and gets picked up by a car, South Pacific, he leaves the island on a raft HE ACTUALLY crafted (unlike Bear) and is sighted by a ship, etc.

Les Stroud just makes the point that making foolish, brash decisions can and will end your live in a survival scenario. If you have absolutely no idea where you're at, and where the closest settlement is, that you're better off being able to survive in one place for an extended length of time until you are found.

This is either a really young kid's hand, or a fucking shoop. Not even grubs of really large beetles (let's say, 15 cm in length) are that big when lying on a grown person's hand.

>>263104

the Goliathus regius larvae can get as big as in OP's picture
>> Anonymous
>>263122

We'd need a pic of that grub in a person's hand, because I don't think you can really tell how big that scale is.
>> Anonymous

>>263147

This one is 13cm, about 5 inch
>> Anonymous
>>263155

Just look at the proportions. OP's grub looks like something relatively small (let's say the larva of a june bug, or something) that was shooped out of proportions. It's too thick to be so short.

But hell, maybe it's just the fact that a child is holding it, that's making this picture unbelievable. But still, think about what I've said above.

Oh, this guy beats yours in terms of weight.

Shitty picture, but the scale shows 119,4 g, species is Megasoma elephas.
