They aint got shit on snow leopards.

Why would you shit on any cat, especially a snow leopard?

Oh please, a king cheetah's only distinction is having rings on their tails rather than spots.

Also I feel bad for cheetahs. They're horribly inbred like dalmatians.

If cheetahs go extinct i'll cry so much :(

They're easily the coolest big cat, since they're so easy to tame - i've seen a show where the documentary makers just let a wild one into their house and gave it some food and it was totally calm and chilled out on the floor with them

And they're so pretty too
>> Anonymous
Aren't they the biggest cat that purrs?

Only big cat that can't roar, too.

Like they give a crap about your well being.

Humans really should domesticate cheetahs. That would give them a better chance of survival as a species. You could use sperm and/or eggs taken from pet cheetahs to keep wild populations going, as long as we don't let them interbreed or start any crazy breeding programs to produce flat-faced cheetahs that can't breathe through their noses.

The turkish did that one already.

If Cheetahs were to be domesticated they would be bred for a "friendly personality towards humans"- trying to take that kind of temperment and breeding it into wild cats wouldn't work due to farmers and such could take an approaching cheetah as a dangerous animal and shoot it.

Hey, now, appearances count for something. King cheetahs are more aesthetically pleasing, pattern-wise, than regular cheetahs.

Also, wooly cheetahs own all.
>> Anonymous
I'd buy one.

But then again.. How many retards do you think would buy one for their obese child because they are 'pretty', then have the nerve to complain that it killed their kid?
Then, its ruined for all.
>> Anonymous
>>181707
Aren't they extinct, though?
>> Anonymous
>>181711
Has a cheetah ever actually killed a human being?
>> Anonymous
>>181713

Sadly, the mutation for woolly cheetahs may not have survived the late 1800s. There is some hope that a few of the cheetahs in the Okavango region carry recessive genes for the mutation, but that;s not likely considering how inbred the damn things are.

>>181711

Cheetahs have never been documented as killing a person, child or otherwise. They are extremely docile, except to gazelles and springhare, because of their small frame and complete reliance on maintaining perfect physical condition.

Yes.
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/02/12/europe/EU-GEN-Belgium-Cheetah-Attack.php

And that rate will go up if we have them like every day house cats. I'm not saying we shouldn't domesticate them because they are dangerous. If that was the case, we wouldn't have some breeds of dogs.
If we were to start owning them, I hope they will be some pretty strict laws on it.
>> Anonymous
Just wanted to ask if they're domesticated and allowed as pets and whatnot, wouldn't the wild cheetahs go extinct for sure?
If you're saying that's a good way to save the species; it could open up other doors. Many other "endangered" big cats could be, maybe not domesticated, but put into cages and bred artificially and whatever.

Also, would that cause the animal to become more friendly towards humans, less capable of adapting to life in the wild (I'm thinking in the future, if they want to try releasing them into the proper habitat)?

Not a troll.

As for nigger farmers, we need to start shooting them instead.

Totally agree. Whenever I hear about a tiger or whatever being shot or killed with poisoned meat, I just think to myself: "Why is a cow farmer worth more then the animal?".

I suggest using a sexually-transmitted retrovirus that's difficult to develop immunity against because it targets the host's immune system- oh wait

Then again its hard to find snow leopards in the wild these days.

So a complete stranger broke into a cheetah cage and got mauled. Not much different from what a dog might do to a burglar.
They are only nice as long as they do not feel a threat.

>>181892

I'm not sure that I understand how domesticating the cheetah would lead to the extinction of the wild cheetah. Dogs are domesticated grey wolves (and have been for over ten thousand years), and last time I checked the grey wolf as a species was not extinct.

Also, yes, if cheetahs were domesticated, then those animals would probably not be able to be released into the wild again. Domestication implies genetic tameness, which is basically just saying that the animal never "grows up" and remains dependent upon his human keepers (look up Belyaev's fox experiment for more information on how domestication effects an animal's genetic and behavioural structure). They would have to be purposely bred away from the domesticated standard and completely retrained in order to be re-released into the wild.

If cheetahs were domesticated I'm worried some asshat would go and stage cheetah fighting.

If you think about it like that, shouldn't feral cats and dogs just starve to death? They're domesticated, so they should be infant-like and incapable of taking care of themselves with human help, but that's not what you see.
>> Anonymous
>>182353
moggies are still self sufficient cats, they aren't THAT domesticated they are just to small to maul you to death
>> Anonymous
>>182291
that bitch got a head start
>> Anonymous
>>182359
that covers cats, but dogs?
>> Anonymous
>>182353

Many of them do. A very large portion of stray dogs die from starvation within their first few weeks of being abandoned, the ones that do survive become scavengers and typically die very early from diseases that their emaciated bodies can't stave off. It would be like dumping a bunch of city-dwelling twelve-year-old children out in the woods. Will some of them survive? Probably a few, but they will be sickly and look like shit.

Anyway, it's a moot point. Cheetahs are the ONLY members of the cat family who do not instinctively possess hunting skills and must be completely trained by their mother or surrogate.
>> Anonymous
>>182353

Not infant-like, faggot. They just retain juvenile characteristics into adulthood. Read more.
>> Anonymous
>>182243

been tried before. it was attempted at a horse track. cheetahs would jump/go through the holes in the fence and head off the rabbit. i.e. cheetahs are smarter than horses.
>> Anonymous
>>182603

I've never been to a racetrack where horses chase rabbits. Perhaps you are thinking of greyhounds, asshat?

Cheetahs were always my favorite animal growing up, them n' wolves. :D

I have never heard of a woolly cheetah!

that pic looks like someone took the head of a cheeta and but it on the body of an ocelot
