Injured bird Advice
I was out in the garden with my cat just now and suddenly I heard comotion behind me. I turn around and find my cat has caught a bird.
It seems the bird is injured and can't move his legs but everything else seems fine. He has lost a few feathers but there is no blood. He now sits in the shadow resting.
So /an/ what do I do?
Im not sure about putting it out of it's misery since its only it's legs that are damaged. On the other hand I don't want him to suffer and get eaten alive by ants etc.
So, send him to a better place?

If a cat caught him and there are any wounds at all, he will die. You can attempt to rehab him if you like, but please don't become an hero when he passes on.

Determine his species and provide for him as best you can until he dies. Thank you for not just laughing and tossing him around to "entertain" your cat, like a lot of retards do.

I'll leave him for a while if he recovers but probably put him down in an hour or so...

Why not just let your cat eat it like it was going to? It's part of their instinct. Don't just take it away because it's a cute wittle birdy instead of letting your cat do what it was designed for.

No.
Don't let your cat do that. Cats do not belong to this environment and are more of an invasive species due to idiots letting their cats outside. They take a large role in the decline of some bird and small mammal populations. It is not nature, and they do belong.

well, whenever my cat catches a bird, she rarely kills it. She just plays with it until she's bored and leaves it to die or for some other animal to come and kill it and eat it.

The house, town and/or city the OP lives in is not part of the "natural environment" either. The bird isn't going to go fucking extinct because of cats. Let the cat eat the damn bird. As for you, kill yourself.

Then let some other animal come and eat it.

i dont know if this helps at all, but one of my cockatiels flew outside and got attacked by a stray cat. we scared it off and he was all bloody with a puncture wound in his side from the clawing but he still recovered and lived a few years afterward healthy. he was a tough bird...
