Serious question, what the fuck is the difference between a possum, and an opossum?
Here (NZ) we have possums.

In North America the words "possum" and "opossum" are used interchangeably for the Virginia Opossum. The "O" is rarely pronounced aloud, and often omitted in writing.

Most North Americans are unaware that there is an entirely different marsupial in New Zealand/Australia simply called the "possum". They are also largely ignorant of the existence of the fearsome drop bear.
