My puppy has like ticks between each of his toes :/
I have 4 other dogs and none of them have tics to *this* extent, ESPECIALLY between their toes.

Tried to expel the ticks this morning, and the puppy ended up bleeding profusely because there were so god damn many of them, so we had to stop. And chances are tics are returning to where the old ones were, so gradually removing them might not work either :/

Usually we're very good about dealing with tics, but this is just insane, particularly on the puppy, who resists incredibly whenever we try.

Any advice? Or immediate puppy *safe* solutions for getting rid of the tics?

Check his gums first. Are they getting pale in comparison to your other dogs? If so, those ticks are really fucking with him. Take him to a vet.

If not, try to remove as many ticks as you can and give him some flea/tick repellent. Don't let him outside for a while, or take him to a different area instead. If you remove them and the bleeding doesn't slow down within a few minutes, again, take him to a vet.

When my family was living bush and access to vets was scanty (and things like Frontline and Advantage didn't exist), a home remedy was to mix the butts of smoked cigarettes in with the dog's food; obviously, since this was the bush ticks were a massive problem and sometimes the dog would get so infested with ticks that the hair on his back would stand on end. The nicotine in the dog's bloodstream would make the ticks fall off. That said, the dog in question was a very large adult so if you want to try this on your pup, more reasearch would be a good idea.

i was taught the best way to remove a tick is to cover the area thoroughly in vaseline. ticks breathe thru their skin or something, and if they can't breathe, they'll let go.

you should put Advantage on each of your dogs. It'll help keep ticks off and will also get rid of some of the ones on your dogs already. If you can't get the ticks off yourself using tweezers, then by all means take the dog to your vet.
