anyone use laser pointers as cat toys?i went to my friend's house today and say him make his cat run all over the house chasing the bright red dot. they seem to get very excited, but i honestly think it drives them mad that they can never "catch" it.i'm no cat-expert, but are they really safe for cats to chase/play with? will it leave any mental problems or anything?i know you're not suppose to shine it directly into eyes for risk of blindness. with this being said, aren't animals' eyes even more sensitive to light than humans?
Funny u bring this up,My little brother played with them laser lights when my cat was a kitten. Now the cat chases shadows all day, including his own.
Laser lights are pretty bad for cats actually, for their mental well-being they need to occasionally "win" their fights. Like when you tease a cat with your hand you have to let them bite and kick you for a minute now and then. Otherwise they can get very frustrated from never catching anything and it has pretty negative effects on their minds.
cats' eyes are very light sensitive. the laser light is way more harmful to them than us.enjoy your blind cat.
So you can make cats crazy with these things? What will actually happen to them? I know>>55514said a few things but any other info about the negative effects?
Cats are happy with string. Why would you need a laser? So you can be extra-lazy?
Me and my sister occasionaly use them to make my parents German shephard run around after it.Althoug he never looks at the pointer directly we hold it in our fist so every time my sister makes a fist the dog looks at the ground for the dot.
I've had a few lazers just to try them, my cat loves it but the batteries run out in minutes. Even if they were safe, they suck
>>55514god, calm the fuck down.they'll just get pissed and walk off or something.
>>55662Yeah, but you don't want them to consistently walk off / get pissed whenever they play. Cats are supposed to enjoy playing sometimes.
i use them from my bedroom onto the street at night. they literally act as a cat 'remote control'. you can make them go up trees, over cars...anywhere.thats the best time to do it as they are out on the prowl and they think they have found something.amazing
>>55664Dummy. You STOP the light and let them think they caught it. I did it with mine and she loved playing with it while it worked. It's not good to be unnecessarily crazy about your animals well being.
