You guys know of any good paleoart sites? I hate hitting up Google everytime I want to look for dino pics. (and don't say Luis Rey, that's a given)

Apples for Appalachiosaurus!

The Dinosauricon's a good place to go. has a massive image archive, and also has several links off to artists' sites. DeviantArt has also yielded some good stuff from time to time, though it generally involves wading through a lot of godawful Shops and furry shit to find it.

Cool thanks man. Dilong to continue the basal tyrannosaur theme.

BTW: The guy who discovered Appy came to the university next county over and gave a lecture on it before it was formally discribed (around 5 years back now). I loved how he kept calling it "primitive" tyrannosaur before he told us the propsed name towards the end of the lecture.

How does Appalachiosaurus know what apples is?

Also, Todd Marshall has about a thousand paleo-pics on his website: http://www.marshalls-art.com/pages/ppaleo/paleo25.htm

Rugops primus related.

What amuses me is that Appalachiosaurus is probably responsible for Albertosaurus becoming my favorite dinosaur. Back before it was named and was placed under the albertosaur heading as an essentially unclassified species, the local natural history museum here in Atlanta had a giant sculpture of it as Albertosaurus in its "walk through time in Georgia" exhibit, and I was like "oh awesome, a tyrannosaur lived in the same area I did!" (this was back when I was like...ten). So I did some reading up on Albertosaurus over the years and came to like the idea of a social, swift tyrannosaur.

Then come to find out the animal that sparked the whole thing was a completely different genus that's still largely a mystery. Oh well.

Have you been to Fernbanks since they put in the Giganto. I was there last week and it was beautiful.

No, but I've been dying to. I'm still kicking myself for missing Sue when they toured her around and stopped at Fernbank.

They brought Sue to Atlanta. Must have been while I was out of country.

Pic of Giganto at Fernbanks attached.
