Something I don't get, beardies are apparently low maintence pets (most petstore people would say great animals for young teens etc). But you have to feed them like crickets every single day along with greens and shit, that doesnt sound low maintence to me. Having to buy crickets all the time, having a cricket colony...

It's not crickets everyday. Just chuck some lettuce in the enclosure every day, make sure they have enough water. once a week or so, we give them a good meal of crickets, mealworms, cockroaches or something else alive. It's good to give them some real sun, we made an outdoor enclosure with a light metal frame and some mesh with chicken wire on top. They like to eat the little flowers that grow in our herb garden.

When these guys get heated up and angry, they bob their heads at each other. It's awesome. A couple of times they've had a proper fight but we've been there to stop them. The smaller one is submissive, he'll slowly bob his head and lay down flat, while the other one bobs really fast and violently. They're both nearly 10 years old now.

yea, u are supposed to feed them every day faggot. and lettuce has no nutritional value, its basically all water. go to www.beardeddragon.org/bjive to talk to people who know what they're talking about with beardies

beardies are SOLITARY animals, they dont want company of others....you're ignorant. one will be dominant and the other submissive, and they'll fight and shit, you suck at owning bearded dragons dude

Well, if they're ten years old, he must be doing a decent enough job.

the one sitting on top in OP image is a bit stunted - we got her from a dodgy shop which soon after was closed by the cops for mistreatment. She'd already lost a couple of toes when we got her. Wasn't fed enough calcium with the powder business in early life so she's smaller than the other one by a fair bit, which we think is probably why they didn't breed.

It could have been worse though, some guy down the street from me has a beardie with only 3 legs - one was bitten off as a child because the same dodgy pet shop was leaving babies in with adults.

Aww, I love beardies. All the pictures in this thread are adorable. My beardie laid eggs about a week ago, at about seven years of age with no male contact. I've done research and it all makes sense now (they lay unfertilized eggs like chickens), but it was definitely a shock when we found fifteen eggs in the cage.
