>A Japanese man who illegally kept some of the world's most venomous snakes in his tiny Tokyo apartment was arrested after calling an ambulance when one of them bit him, reports said Wednesday.
....
>His secret got out after he was bitten by an eastern green mamba, a highly venomous southeast African snake among the 51 he kept.

So what do you guys think? 51 snakes in an apartment is quite a collection. Other reports list boomslangs, spitting cobras, and rattlesnakes.

What are the laws concerning venomous pets where you live, and do you think arresting him was the right response?

keeping dangerous snakes in an apartment? No license for handling said dangerous snakes? yeah he should have been arrested!

Snakes are very capable of escaping and then making their way to any nearby neighbors and biting people when the get scared.

an apartment is not an appropriate area at all!

Yes, I believe in arresting people who vary from the norm. It is the only way to stay safe.

the pet laws here in northern ireland are very loose. i could keep whatever the hell i want aslong as its in good conditions.
theres an old zoo turned animal rescue center nearby that sometimes gets all kinds of big cats sent in. even had some zebras turned in from a guy who was too old to look after them anymore.
