Pet Birth stories Bitter Anon !!WJLRQ1cwCyZ
Snailkitten is infested with kittens which are due to erupt in about two weeks. Birth is one thing that I haven't dealt with when it comes to animals, and I've done some research online (and watched numerous birthings on tv and youtube. that shit is nasty), but I was wondering: How did anon deal with the birth of their pets? Any particular things I should look out for?

Also, here is one possible sire of the kittens. They proably all have different dads becaus she is a fucking whore.

If your home when she is ready to pop, she will let you know by coming up to you and meowing a lot. Get her a padded box ready in the most remote corner of the house and show it to her. If you got the time stay close to her in case she needs help. Mostly she will take care of it all. The one thing I did have to do with my last cat was when one of the kittens came out, the placenta was caught on her head and I had to pull it off. Don't be a pussy and let a kitten suffocate cause you don't want to touch bloody afterbirth. It washes off just like anything else.

I wish you and Snailkitten luck.

We've always had our kitties fixed, so we've never had that problem, but my sister's cat ran away before the big snip and came back pregnant. When she felt her time coming, he managed to find a place near the roof of the carage (don't ask me for details, I never saw the place myself) and didn't come back until it had given birth to the whole litter.

Point being, they're usually quite capable of handling the situation themselves.

Oh, and she will eat up the placenta after all is done, so don't worry about cleaning up. It's a tasty treat!
>> Anonymous
She will also eat the stillborn. Those treats I do tend to take away and bury. If she does have any stillborn, give it a bit, sometimes the trauma of birth sends them into shock and knocks them out. Rarely happens, but has happened to me once.

I intend to be there through the whole thing. She may be carrying them and they might have her genetics, but they're my kittens goddamnit. I rub her stomach and talk to the proto-kittens all the time, due to the whole "talking to babies makes them better" theory thing.

She snuck outside a week before her date with the vet, and came back with the hambeast/brandocat I posted earlier.. She WILL be fixed after the kittens are weaned, and I'm working on finding homes for them already. The reason I'm nervous is she's roughly 9 months old, and this is her first litter.. and aside from licking her nipples and growling at her stomach, she doesnt seem to care too much. I'm going to have PET milk and a bottle handy if needed.. fostering kittens I can do, but the actual birth.. nervous father syndrome, apparently. I was looking forward to cold placenta sandwhiches the day after (PA joke)

Also, infant snailkitten.

We gave our lovey-dovey budgies a nest box and some wood shavings once, some years ago, as the female was acting all pent-up, snippy and passive-aggressive, even for a budgie. Birds' equivalent of a biological clock I suppose. Figured it was better than have her lay eggs in some corner and end up dying of draft or something, sitting on her eggs 24/7.

Of course none of the six eggs were fertile. They never are the first couple of times in captivity. The female ate the eggs up for the calcium in the shells, eventually, and tossed the rest out. We removed the nest box soon after. Fixed her antsiness up rather well though. And the male started acting like as though he had a huge pair, for a few months afterward.

There never was a next time, as the man of the cage passed away a year later from a tumour, and she was so heartbroken she didn't take to his successor. They were "friends", at most; some face-scratching and such flock stuff, but none of those cutesy behaviours that'd indicate a pair bond.

I expect the OP will give us pictures of the kittens. I'd wish you luck, but I wouldn't want to jinx it.

Congratulations! A close friend of mine had a cat who had kittens two months ago. When the kittens were ready to come out, the cat would find a comfortable spot to give birth at. (Unluckily for my friend, it was his bed.) The Mommy cat can basically act off instinct and know what to do, and it will also separate the healthy kittens from the unhealthy. One of the kittens didn't make it. :/ Here's a picture of the Mother and the Kittens the day after.

Dont do anything, cats have been around for a long time and that show that they are indeed capable of giving birth w/o any human present..

Will definately be posting pictures of the kittens, and in true /an/ tradition, asking for name advice. I'm expecting three minimum, as there are three large lumps in her abdomen, and I actually heard a heartbeat earlier.

Also, is it wrong to gently hold her and shake her ever so slightly, while whispering "never shake a baby, never shake a baby"? Cause I got hit really hard from my own maternal unit for doing so.

I was there for three of my mama calico's litters, it's pretty easy.. If she trusts you let her push her back up against your legs, sit cross legged and just wait.. Watch for the babies, if she neglects to clean one (leaving it alone for more than 5 minutes) you should clean it off yourself and try to clear it's nasal passages... But she should do that on her own out of instinct. She'll eat the afterbirth even though it's kind of gross. Anyway, just chill... Not much can go wrong if she's healthy and not too young.

Enjoy your kitties

P.S. Labor-birth takes about 10-30 minutes per kitten, sometimes with an hour pause between each kitten if she gets tired.

Make sure the kittens go to somebody who will get them fixed.
>> Anonymous
Well what I like to do is go to the vet and get them fukken fixed. Way to help solve cat overpopulation jackass!
>> Anonymous
Also, if you get any stillborn that Snailkitten's ignoring, get a warm towel and rub them vigorously with it - like>>106732says, sometimes the shock of the birth knocks 'em out and rubbing them will get them breathing again :)

Depending on when they are rehomed, they might be fixed before they even leave. Part of the reason that, after owning hundreds of pets and fostering even more, I've never had to deal with childbirth, is because I get my pets fixed, and it was a guest who "accidently" let Snailkitten out shortly before she was to be altered. So, pretty please read before you post calling me an asshole. Also, could you come up with something better than that? Like, screeching cockfag, or festering whore? Thanks in advance.

>>107028
That I might have a problem with. I am notoriously clumsy, and I think I'd be kinda pissed off if I accidently rubbed the skin off the kitten trying to get it to live. Will try and have someone else around for that kind of thing.

What the FUCK? Usually I get a "plz gtfo life bitterfag", so I'm prepared for that. But no.

Haven't seen him since she came home. I have considered posting pictures of him around to try and let his owners (he's too fat to be feral) know about the kittens. The reason I haven't is I can't decide what to do: Should I post that he got ran over and to please contact me for the body (for the lulz) or "Hambrando, please pay child support"?

Go for Child support. SRSLY. That'd be fucking hilarious.

Find someone with skills to draw a picture of him. Then put up signs for a casting call for a cat version of The Godfather.
