So my cat just puked, 99% of the time she's fine but once in a while she'll gorge herself and end up sick, I'm fed up this time, she climbed up and puked on the back of the couch. Why does she do this? (The eating too much not the couch part.)

Because you feed her too much.

you cant just give her a shit load of food at once

i have a dog and if you just put a bowl of food in front of him he will eat it as fast as possible just because hes a dumbass

put a little in her bowl, wait for her to eat it

wait 5 mins and put some more in and try to find a good average amount she eats so she doesnt over do it

My cats go out of their way to puke on the carpet. When they eat grass they will always wait until they come inside to puke. If I try to put a piece of paper in front of them while they are hacking, they will turn and run away so they can get a clear shot at the carpet. I have never seen any puke on the vinyl floors in my house.

I think what happens is when she eats too much and that food starts to absorb moisture in her stomach, making it swell, that's what causes her to puke. That or she's bulimic

I asked a vet once if my cat was puking too much and he told me that if a cat vomits once a week it's within normal range.

Adult indoor cats are supposed to eat a LOT less than you think. You know those tiny gourmet cat food servings? That's supposed to carry them through all day WITHOUT any treats, and you're supposed to feed only half of the portion at a time so that the cat doesn't vomit it up.

Most people feed their pets a set amount of food in one or two feedings per day... Any vet will tell you that you shouldn't let a pet eat as much as they want. Your cat may not gorge all the time, but it's still not healthy.

People gorge themselves too, sometimes. Could be common genetics or something. But most likely it's hairballs, and the cat is using something to induce vomiting, be it excessive omnomnommery of food or a few blades of grass. So yeah, grow your cat some grass. Cats need grass. And a saxophone, but that's beside the point.

Are you talking about those little 3oz. Fancy Feast cans? You know that you're supposed to feed one can per (about, depending on food brand) 3 lbs of body weight, right? Not just one a day.

Quite a pickle, they vomit really spontaneously, so don't wonder about where she pukes. A cat doesnt think about where its easier to clean the puke.

If shes really puking often, try some "sensitive" food, and feed 3x small meals a day not 1 big one.

My boyfriends cat always sits on the tiled floor and pukes on the carpet, and i can't seem to get her puke on the tiles...argh!

And what, everyone around here owns a maine coon? I would be worried if your cat was above 6 pounds. The 3 pounds guide is fine if you have an active indoor/outdoor cat that likes to run around and topple heirloom crud off tables.

It's not fine if all your cat does is sleep in your one bedroom apartment during the day while you are gone to work. Plus, people tend to feed their pets treats and snacks that they normally don't consider to be a part of the meal.
