Crazy Cat Lady
dearest /an/,
so i just moved into a new apartment almost two months ago.
the other day i heard this high pitched little meow coming from outside. i went and there is this big 'ol orange cat howling at my neighbor's door. after he howled for an hour or so they let him in, the howling and letting in routine continued for about 2 days. when talking to the neighbor they said their aunt brought over her cat and left it w/ them. they obviously don't want it and don't care for it very well. left it outside for 2 days w/out food and water. being the cat person that i am, i hear him crying and go out to pet him. he's the sweetest cat ever, just needs some love.
my question to you /an/: what should i do with him? i already have 3 cats (a girl and 2 boys, all fixd) i can't bring him in cuz i dunno if he's got something and he's not fixed. i'm planning on building him a make shift house in our porch area, that he's kind made his home already, when it starts gettin cold. i've already left food and water out. but should i do anymore else? no way i'm gonna take him to the spca cuz i'm sure no one will adopt him (he's gotta be at least 3).

tldr: this stray cat has pretty much adopted me, what should i do?
(pic related: him sleeping on our smoking chair)

if you're going to be feeding him anyway then he's your cat regardless of whether you allow him in your house.

let him in when it's cold, op ;__; just take it to the vet.

i don't really have the money right now to take it to a vet and my roomie has absolutely no compassion for animals ("sucks to be it" is his compassion level). i've heard of some places, like HOPE that will neuter for free if it's a ferrel, but he's technically not....

anyone know of organizations that will neuter for free/low cost? i've already used the spca and they have my name on record

tell animal control that your neighbors are neglecting the animal and provide no food or water. its illegal and they can get a fine or go to jail depending on how poorly the animal is being treated. it would be good if you got proof so even if they deny it you have some evidence.

or you can just leave cat food and water out for the cat and just have this cat as a outdoor cat. i usually do that for stray cats in my neighborhood.

good luck, your neighbors are bastards.

Take him in. Save money until you can afford to fix him, and then fix him. Simple!

I have three cats and the legal limit of cats without a permit where I live is 3. I think if there was a cat in need I'd probably take it in anyway and bring the count to 4 though.
>> Crazy Cat Lady
>>313337
i think the legal limit here is 3 also. i live in a 2-bedroom apt and haven't even paid the pet deposit on my 3 cuz my bastard old landlord is lagging (different rant, sorry).

last night my "hubby" and i were talking, while loving on phillip (Better name than Mr. Homeless) last night. we decided that we're gonna try and call some shelters or whatnot and see if they'll help us out by gettin him fixed. i don't wanna let him in until he's fixed. we're planning on building a cat house for him since it's gettin pretty chilly at night. but for now it's mostly a cardboard box w/ a towel in the bottom

ask someone else you know if they are willing to take in the cat. doesnt sound like its current owners really care.
>> Crazy Cat Lady
i guess the little girl next door has refused to let her family get rid of the cat. this morning he had on a blue collar w/ a bell. We still plan on making it a house if they don't start letting it back in at night

So they take the time and money to buy him a collar but won't give him food, water, or shelter?

Fucking assholes.
>> Crazy Cat Lady
>>314400
they've left out food and water now, but the hubby said, it's probably the little girl that did it. he seems to be kinda skittish of guys, except for my hubby if i go out w/ him.

Well at least he's got food and water now. Keep an eye out for him. I'd hate to hear that he didn't make it because lack of nutrition or shelter. I say sneak him inside and keep him since they won't.

we go outside and love on him, and they know we do. I also make sure that if he doesn't have food in the dish they leave out, cuz we have a lot of strays that hang around the complex, i put food in a little dish for him on our porch.
The little girl is REALLY attached to him, and i'd hate to steal her cat from her, i think it's her mom and borthers that don't want him. btw his name is "FuzzFuzz" b/c apparently he was really fluffy as a kitten. We think phillip fits better.

Poor girl, I can relate. Whenever I found strays as a kid my parents would neglect it entirely and not let me even feed it. That didn't stop me from sneaking food and water out to it though. I also kept the shed door open and put out towels for them to sleep on so they had the best shelter I could provide.

ffffffffffffff
came home day before yesterday, they took his food bowl in. later that day took his water bowl in and left out some chicken bones.
yesterday, didn't put his food bowl out until like 9pm. i've put stuff out for him but i still wish i could just take him, get his balls chopped off and keep him w/out them knowing....... he's crying outside my door right now

Accidently leave your door open and let him in. Show him some love.

i can't i have 3 strictly inside only cats. they hiss at him through the window when he's on the porch. we do go out and love on him all the time though.......

RAGE at stupid pet owners

Yeah... i always say never get an animal if you aren't going to properly care for it. I'd hate to see it out in the cold... i've seen many cats die in the winter, sad sad thing.

do the responsible thing and tell the pound, they will know whats best for this unneutered unwanted adult male cat
>> Crazy Cat Lady

not gonna call the pound, too many cute kittens to compete with. i'll happily have an outside cat.

Do you have Korean friends nearby?

I was told they like cats as much as they like chickens.

i'm in central cali. i hear hope will fix him for free or low cost. spca did my other two cats and won't let me bring in any others for the low-cost (they ripped me off anyways, made me gets shots for the cats before they'd fix them)

FFFFFFFFFF

What fucking assholes. >:| Get him neutered and maybe you could keep him in a separate part of your house? Let your kitties get used to him? It's gonna get cold outside, he needs a nice warm place to take refuge at least during the night or something.

we got the first rain of the season last night. we already had put a towel down the the chair he likes to lay in and we'd cover him w/ it at night if we saw him on it. we took a big green tupperware thing, put the lid on and cut a hole in it so he'd have a make-shift house. he doesn't seem to know what to do w/ it, but i'm sure if i put some more blankies in there for him he'll get use to it.
the other cats have met him through the window, the youngest (he's about 3) doesn't seem to mind him much, his 4yr mom is still a lil protective, our 8yo, very protective of his house. they touched noses through the screen last night and then he went hiss-happy w/ the outside cat.
i think they're just sacred of a new cat and kinda jealous. cuz we love on him when we're outside smoking. We'll see how things go this winter, while talking to them the other night they said they may start letting him in when it's cold...... fffffffffff

MAY start letting him in. They don't sound all too concerned with his overall well-being. I think you should straight-up ask them if they're willing to give him over. If not then bitch about giving him food, water, shelter, and attention.

No cat deserves to be neglected like that.
