Any anons have chameleons as pets?
How easy are they to raise and care for?

Expensive as hell.
Don't need TONS of space though, depending on the species.
Most of them are pretty easy to handle. Needs a lot of equipment though. I dunno; there's a lot of pros and cons..

Plus, they live a real long time...

My ass. Veiled Chameleons live for like 4 or 5 years, maybe 8 with ultra high level husbandry.

Chameleons are shitty pets. They're good if you want to spend fucktons of money and look at something pretty for a few years,

Some species captive-bred specimens of species like veileds, panthers, and jacksons make for good display animals if you have experience with reptiles. If you don't know anything about UVB, vitamin supplements, and managing humidity, temperature, and ventilation then it's not a good idea. Unless you're EXTREMELY experienced wild-caught specimens are as good as dead and even the hardy species are prone to stress and somewhat delicate; even if you have a good reptile specialist vet, if your chameleon falls ill enough for you to realize it's sick it's probably doomed.
