He used to be the calmest puppy during routine check-ups.

Now he acts like a bastard every time we take him to the animal hospital for a grooming.

We haven't done anything but be good to him, he's socialized enough not to act like a fool with other people and get along with other dogs, but yesterday he completely flipped out during a bath and even snapped and growled at the groomer.

Has this happened with any of your dogs?

How old is he?

maybe the groomer isn't nice to him or is too rough.

Never happened with any of my animals, but it's not uncommon for guard breed dogs to flip the fuck out when the owners aren't there. I got bit in the face once by a Rott who decided that he didn't want to get dried off. He was totally fine, and the just flipped out.

TL;DR: see if you can stay for the grooming once to see how he acts, or get him lightly sedated.

As an animal groomer, I'm going to say that, really, think about the people that are having to deal with your dog. It's a rottweiler (mix maybe)-- why does it even need to go to a groomer? There's lots of places that will just let you use their facilities for washing, or maybe you could do it at your place, or whatever. You're really wasting money getting him groomed, plus probably scaring the workers shitless.

Get his nuts cut off to start with.
Walk him for about an hour before taking him to the groomer to tire him out. Put a muzzel on him for the groomer.
