Ants a'bore Anonymous
Me again.
Figured I'd post some sort of update and see if anyone else who has raised a colony can answer my question.

Its been about a week since I updated my colony's habitat. They have a new foraging area and a tempting cookie. However, I have yet to see them leave the confines of their tube. To make matters worse, the queen has ceased laying. Leaving me with a rebellious and boring colony of 9+1.

Last friday I did note that one brave ant ventured all the way to the end of the tube, a first for the colony, however, she swifty returned I don't know that any have gone out again.

I'm wondering why they don't seem to be brave enough to set out? A possibility exists that since there is still food present in the tube, they have no reason to, and since most of the ants lay around doing nothing, the queen feels that their just isnt a need for more ants at the moment. I must disagree.

I took the liberty of taking a half dead/smushed fly and placed it right inside the tube. Perhaps this will get them moving abit more. Time will tell.

thoughts my fellow /an/t?

great news. the ants have picked up the fly and carried it to the bottom of the tube and are devouring the poor fella.

chill outside along a sidewalk for awhile. although its prbly too late now. wait till spring. you'll find em all over the place.

i keep seeing an ant near the end of the tube everytime i walk by. its only a matter of time until they find the fabled cookie of prophecy.
