This is Jack, he's 6 months old, but I'm not sure what kind of cat he is... Anyone able to tell from these three pictures I took?

We figured he wasn't any special kind of cat, just wanted to make sure. He's still a good kitty none the less.

I don't think he's sad.

Looks like my old cat, Pusan. He was just a european housecat

hiding in boxes you say?

why that's no other than the white-bellied box-nigger cat

there's no such thing as an official breed of tuxedo cats. Tuxedo cats are all technically mixbreeds.

Took another couple just now.

Last one, Jack wasn't really up for sitting still to have his picture taken.

When talking about mixbreeds, I think that person meant cats which would not breed true-- ie, not "purebred."
>> Anonymous
yea but even "purebreeds" get another breed thrown in once in a while to strengthen the genetic diversity of the "breed"

Now you're just getting technical. For that matter, there's no such thing as a purebred human who is of exactly one ethnicity.
You know what I meant. No tuxedo cats are purebreds. They might have some relation to a real breed but that's about it.

There are lots of purebred cats which are allowed to come in black and white ("tuxedo") pattern: oriental shorthair, manx, persian, maine coon, and the list goes on. Fur colour does not equal breed.

But, yes, OP, your cat is just a regular cat. He's cute, but he's not a special breed.

Really? Huh. Had no idea.
I've had a tuxedo cat for 12 years so I figured I knew something. But I just looked it up in some cat book and they were unclear.

Most cats in general, "tuxedos" included, are of mixed/unknown heritage. Cat breeds are less popular than dog breeds, since there's not as much diversity in them.

However, you won't see any purebred cats that are called "tuxedos." They are called "black and white" + whatever the breed is.

For example, the attached pic is of a (hideous) black and white persian. She has the typical "tuxedo" pattern.

Can't really see the tux, but this cat is fucking sweet. He's an oriental shorthair.

:O I had never seen breed cats with tux patterns before. ADORABLE!
