Japanese beetle.
They used to be a HUGE fucking problem over here. They got imported from Japan to help eat pests on crops and whatnot, but it turns out the things taste (and smell) horrible, so nothing eats them. I remember not even being able to open my sliding glass door because there were so many of them dead in on the tracks.

I love ladybugs, everytime I see one I make it walk over my hand (it kind of tickles) and then just watch it fly away. They're so damn cute and completly harmless.

Ladybirds/bugs are spotted and round. This looks like a shiny brown beetle which is longer in shape.
