>>287210 OP here. my friend and i were surfing and we saw a tiger shark in the face of a wave. it was about 6 feet long or so and at 5 yards away. we paddled 50 yards to shore, my friend paddling as fast as he could, me warily paddling only along with waves (i read somewhere that you should avoid putting your limbs in the water as much as possible). only two other surfers came in to shore saying they saw fins. i'm sure it wasn't a dolphin due to the shape of the nose and at first i thought it was a black tip reef shark (we were surfing a reef break that was only about 6-10 feet deep). but looking at pictures later online, a tiger shark most fits due to the coloring and stubby nose. in a weird coincidence, i ate shark loin for lunch that day...
