On the off chance that this is not a troll..
>Hey /an/, what is the best way to go about getting a puppy. Legally
>Should you adopt from Humane Societes. YES. Yes you should. To adopt a dog is to save its life.
>they want to keep the animal till at least 6-8 weeks old, that takes away the fun of it, seeing it grow up as a baby No puppy should be taken from its mother younger than 6 weeks. Most should stay till about 10 weeks, but a good, responsible owner can raise them younger. At 6 weeks, it is weaned (or starting to) and still has a lot of growing left to do. Remember, dogs are not really adults until they are about two years old.
>they are fricking strict about your background and stuff and they wanna know everything about you.
Some rescues are excessively strict, but the reason they ask all that is to make sure you will give the best home possible. If you are looking to adopt an extremely social and active dog but you will be keeping it indoors or in a kennel for 18 hours a day, then they should not adopt to you.
>Or buy from Pet store. NO. They are puppy mills. ALL DOGS FROM PET STORES ARE FROM PUPPY MILLS. Yes, you may "Rescue" a single puppy from the horrible conditions, but they will put another puppy in the same cage.
>Or order online? HELL FUCKING NO.
Determine what kind of dog you want. Find a breed that matches that description. Go to www.petfinder.com and see if there is a rescue for the breed near you or even a dog fitting that description. If there isn't, then look for reputable dog breeders in your region. Getting a dog from a breeder can be incredibly expensive: well bred dogs are worth it. Do not pay more than 100usd for a mixed breed dog. Schnoodles, cockapoos, shitmalts, etc are mixed breed dogs (and are also abominations). The biggest adoption fee I have ever seen was 100usd, hence the reasonable cap. Most rescues are 30-80 bucks, depending on the animal, and that generally includes neutering and shots.
