My cat has an eating problem Anonymous
My cat Lizzie eats almost constantly. She has gained a large amount of weight in the past year and is getting too obese for her own good. I can't really control how much food I leave in her dish, because I also have another cat and a dog to feed. Also, she has access to the outside, where she does her own hunting. My main concern is the fact that she leaves almost no food for the other animals to eat. I don't know what to do to control how much food she eats. I seriously need help.

Second'd. Yes you -can- control how much she eats. You're the owner, you provide for her food intake outside of hunting.

Feed her separately in a bathroom, laundry room, even a closet. Feed her smaller portions, more often throughout the day, instead of 'free-feeding' a bunch of food at once.

If you claim you're unable to do this, you're lying or really not that concerned about your cat's health. It's like a mother saying "One of my two sons eats my other son's food, plus his own." "How many meals do they get a day?" "Well, as many as they want, really; I let them get in the pantry and eat as much as they want."

Feed your cats in separate rooms, about a half-cup each in the morning and in the evening. If Lizzie is really, really in need of a diet, get a weight-control or "light" formula food, and feed her according to its directions.
