Hi /an/

I've had this aquarium for one week, at first I had some problems with the water since I had no idea what cycling etc was, but now everything is normal.

Except for 2 fishes of the 3.

First the black one: I started worrying once I saw his top fin was against his back, looking really sad. I have to say I've only seen this about 4 times and I don't know if it's normal behavior.
The top of one side of his back fin is transparent and has 1 spot.

Now for the goldie, who I've also seen 2-3 times with his top fin against his back, but also has 2 spots, the spots are only clear when it's in the right lightning.

I Google'd it and it seems my fish have the famous 'Ich' disease [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichthyophthirius_multifiliis]

Does anyone has tips? I will get clean salt on Monday to begin the treatment.

what's the water temp? goldfish need cooler water than other fish, or they risk getting diseases like ich. the water should be between 65-70 degrees. your tank looks small so i dunno how easy it'll be to keep the temp stable.

also go the pet shop and get Rid-Ich drops to treat the water with. it works much better than salt.

op, i was around for your other post...

i'm the guy that put up the really long message, talking about what I thought you should do...

anyways-your fish dont have ich. ich would resemble chicken pox on your fish, but white and fungusy. also, your fishes color would be faded very much. The black moor might be starting to get some fin rot, but it doesnt look bad. It actually looks like he's healing from an existing fin rot.

if your fish *do* have, or get, ich...there's a product called NoxIch out there, it's copper based so you dont want to use a lot of it...but-it works.

How big is your tank?

General quick cure is probably the best way to go. Catch it soon and you can save your phish.

I remember you :)

The temperature is from 16 to 19 degrees Celsius (60-66 Fahrenheit)
The tank is a 20 liters (5.2 gallons)

I've noticed ich can begin as just a few small white dots. It doesn't tend to all of a sudden look like white chicken pox, so I don't think OP is incorrect in their assumption.
OP, I suggest RidIch.

ridich would work just as well as noxich-i do believe.

good luck to you

This is what I mean with "top fin was against his back".
No idea if it's normal or not, he only does it when he's staying at one spot.

aww it does make him look sad...

but i wouldnt worry about it too much. if I had fins, I'd get tired of holding em up all day.

Clamping of the dorsal fins usually means they're stressed/scared. In this case, stressed, probably since he's in a 5.2 gallon, or could be from any other reasons...

Clamped fins on fish usually = stress.
