Nipping Anonymous
Dear /an/,

My cat, pictured, as recently been waking me up in the middle of the night because she bites me. I'll wake up to her nipping at my elbow or toes, not drawing blood, just sort of gnawing. She's over six years old so I have no idea what's going on. HALP?!

my cat used to do that but after a few times I started to kick at him to let him know this isn't play time. Now my biggest problem is he wants to sleep on top of me which is sweet but it gets uncomfortable after about 10minutes.
>> Anonymous
maybe she want out? or more food or something?

Playful nipping in the middle of the night? I think you know exactly what she wants, if you know what I mean *_O
>> Anonymous
An easy way to stop the nipping from waking you up is to put her out of the room when you go to sleep.

Do you have any medical problems?

My friend's dad apparently had sleep apnea, where he would stop breathing. It turns out one of their little Scotties would spend the whole night watching him and when he stopped breathing would jump on his chest, to get him breathing again. I think he said this has been happening for years before they figured out why.

I think shes just bored and wants someone to play with

Spend more time playing with your cat witha ny toys, offer treats and catnip, they need stimulation.

Pet your cat and scratch around her face when she comes up on the bed. If she does nip at you she's bored and disgruntled wanting attention- remember cats are nocturnal. I heard that shrieking like a kitten stops them in their bite. Maybe the cat will understand that when you shriek you are in pain too.

Gnaw the cat back.

I lol'd. Good stuff.

Cover yourself in blankets til she gets bored with it. Weird she started it now but...that's cats for ya
>> Impy
My mum's cat does that even though she's not a kitten anymore too. She just wants my mum's attention. Maybe your kitty wants attention?

My cat gets fed at the same time every morning. If I ever sleep in she will begin nipping at me. When I then pull the covers over my head she will scratch at the bed right by my head not to damage anything but to make as loud of a scratching noise as possible because she knows I can't sleep through it. Getting up and feeding her stops her but I usually can't fall back asleep.

Anyway, cats are highly intelligent. Moreso than dogs especially in the causality department. If she is doing something she expects there to be a reaction. She's not doing it just to be funny, she either wants to play or eat or go out but she's trying to convey that.

I agree. Either shove her away from you or off the bed, or shut your door at night. She should get th e idea pretty quick.

My cat used to sit by my bed and make noises until I let him outside. This could be about 3 am, and it annoyed me to pieces, but he stopped when I just ignored him and slept on. Shutting the door, he could sit and scratch at it for an hour.

Either you're not feeding her enough or she hates the food you are feeding her

This is a simple solution, as I've had to deal similarly!

Simply take a cloth, and dip it in a small bowl of trichloromethane, and then hold it over the cats muzzle before you go to bed.

Buy a dog.

As I found out from firsthand experience, throwing heavy objects at your cats when they bite you is a great way to get them to stop immiediately and never do it again.

it's so cool how this stuff is actually true. i've seen a bunch of articles and things on it.
also,
>>78209
lol. but true. not heavy things so much, but i used to toss d6 (nerd alert) at my cat when she'd piss me off. that, or keep something that makes a startling noise handy. shake it when starts nibblin'. an empty can with some pennies (or dice that roll poorly) ought to do it.

tl;dr.

He's detecting the massive amounts of AIDS you seem to have

My cat grooms my head sometimes when I'm asleep. I just ignore it and she'll stop after about 30 minutes or so. I guess 30 minutes, because I usually go to sleep with "LAHM LAHM LAHM PURRAAAALLMM LAHM LAHM" in my ear. My hair is sometimes wierd when I wake up.

I think it\'s because if the OP pic name is in fact \"Sniffles\", he probably wants a new, and not sucky, name.

cats can detect AIDS? does science know about this?

Protect yourself with guard dogs and M18A1 Claymore directional mines. But set the mines with command detonators. The dogs may set off trip wire detonators, as this photo shows, the instant before the catastrophe.

fail, claymore is rigged for detonater not tripwire mode

my cat wakes me up by "playing" with my ballsack. I guess she must think it's a toy when my balls jiggle in the nightwind.

This is Miss Sheila. She chews on my finger nails and will pull my hair when I hide them. I don't know how to fix it, but I can totally sympathise!

I can't let my cat sleep in the same room as me because every night she has to leave around 3am. What she's doing then, I don't know, but she scratches at the door til you let her out. I usually try to ignore her until I get too worried about damage to the wood XD This takes about two seconds lol.
>> B
It means they love you!

lol, my cat is lazy and fat. the only time it wakes me up is when it wants food, by which it usually stands up and starts pawing the bedroom door/banging it..it stops as soon as i shout at it, but resumes after a few secs...since it does this at around 6am or so i have gotten programmed to just get up and give it food
>> Anonymous
Maybe you taste like chili and the cat happens to like that?
>> King of Cats
They are worried or nervous. Kinda like when you chew your nails or a pencil. They'll do it to if they are dreaming. Kittens will do it especially. If you place your finger on the lips of a sleeping kitten it'll try to suckle in it's sleep.

The cat likes you, or just wants food. But don't worry, its not a sexual attachment.

I thought I was the only one that this happened to. My cat is dead now, but she would groom my hair, and make it into a little nest. Then she'd lay in it and fall asleep.

My mom's cat used to do that. Wouldn't do it with anyone else, just my Mom. She did it from when my Mom got her til she died too; her...thing I guess.
