What is this plant? Anonymous
Hi, recently, this plant has started growing next to where I live, and no one knows what it is, any clues.
I live in the UK (North East region of England, UK)

I just read some articles on snapdragons, and this looks like nothing compared to the pictures accompanying the articles, though a Google image search did find flowers under the name snapdragon.

Uh I've seen something like it in South East Asia. But the one i'm thinking of grows up to be quite tall and the stem gets thick and dark and grows evil-looking thorns. The red flowers are pretty though, and people buy them when they're little when they're not so beserk-looking. Um, yes.

seriously... it's the tenth image result in a google search for "Snapdragon"

.. Christ.. it's a snapdragon plant. squeeze the sides of the flowers together gently and it will open like it's talking...

Looks pretty much like every "volunteer" snapdragon I've ever seen. (That is, a plant that grows at random from a stray seed, rather than one that's been deliberately planted and nurtured.)

If you're not familiar with snapdragons, you identify them by shape and foliage, not flower color; they can be any color from white to very dark red, including bicolors and shaded forms like the one in the pic.

(Never blue, though. I think ...)
