Hay cat owners & dog owners! Anonymous
What's your opinions and experiences of people of the opposite preference? Be honest!
>> H
There's nothing different between the two, and some are often both. What did you expect?

I meant those that were specifically for or against, with strong opinions. Dunno what to expect; just curious.

I like cats and dogs but I just like dogs better since they are more nice and stuff.

Being that I am a dog person and lived with my mom, who was a cat person (8 of em), I get two points of view. Cat owners seem to have some notions about their pets that simply aren't true; these being that cats are independent, clean, and intelligent. Cats aren't independent, they're just self-centered. Cats aren't clean, despite being able to shit and piss in a little box. They puke on a regular basis, some spray (even after getting them fixed), and you'll never know when they feel like their not getting what they want and just decide to fuck your shit up by breaking it, pissing on it, or shitting on it. Cats are also not intelligent. They are cunning and crafty but not actually intelligent. Despite seeing an object on the edge of a shelf or knowing full and well that a computer moniter is flat screen, they will still try to jump on top of it... because they are not intelligent.

My mother runs a daycare service for dogs, so I've often got anywhere from 3-8 dogs inside my house every day (including my own). I've had 3 cats at different times, too. I like both, but I prefer cats because they're more quiet, and easier to take care of.

That is true... most dogs are easier to win over than a cat. But I like the challenge and small pride in earning that fuzz ball's attention/love :(

>>102117
I have witnessed dogs behaving towards TVs and computer screens in the same fashion, so what difference does that particular point in the argument make?
>> Anonymous
I hate cats because I think they are for fags.

So you might guess how pissed I am when I visit 4chan on caturday...
>> Anonymous
>>102123

But you see, there is no argument. I never said dogs were smarter than cats. I just said cats weren't intelligent, which seems to be a particular notion about cats that cat owners off state is why they like cats in the first place.
>> Anonymous
>>102126
So what are cat owners mistakenly referring to as intelligence?
>> Anonymous
>>102127

Natural cleverness that pretty much all animals have. There's a difference between cleverness and intelligence. Intelligence requires problem solving on a level that requires one to manipulate ideas and objects that aren't instinctual to them. Now, you can make your cat intelligent but it's a hard process of conditioning and training. Most cats, however, use what nature gave them and can perform feats that seem intelligent but it's no different that a squirrel crossing a telephone line to avoid the road below or an octopus getting a crab out of a bottle. It's all mostly instinct and trail and error.

Hmmm, my cat has learned to meow in certain tones to indicate whether she wants (a) her box cleaned, (b) a play session, or (c) moar food!

That's not instinctual is it?

humans aren't intelligent

dog owners are usually more active people.

besides that i don't usually see a difference.

cats are great pets, dogs are great pets.

people who humanize or glorify either are stupid. a dog is not a best friend -- it is a dog and you are its owner. a cat is not a mystical, elegant goddess -- its a cat, a small carnivore with a rather low attention span.

people who hate cat or dogs are stupid. they simply dont understand - and dont try to understand - the other pets, their nature and body language. instead, they make up an idiotic war with other pet owners. and that has nothing to do with actual cats or dogs, its just full of prejudges, improper emotion and personal hurt. fags.

I don't dislike dog owners, but I dislike a lot of dogs. They're easily excitable, noisy and scary. It drives me crazy when I see people with dogs that bark at everything that moves. I could never live with that kind of thing.

A guy in my neighborhood has a coyote-looking dog that behaves like that. It scares the shit out of me.

Cats tend to use a combination of auditory and physical language to dictate mood or need, so yeah basically.

but you DO like some dogs (the nice and cuddly ones), yes? so its not about dogs in genereal, but about misbehaving dogs.

i agree, its really annoying when a dog is loud, nervous and jumpy -- it can be dangerous too. but i guess you already know that its not the dog's fault. they incompetent or stupid owner failed and turned him into a monster.

the same thing can happen with cats tho. they are smaller, so they are usually not regarded as that dangerous. but imagine a psycho cat the size of a Mastiff...

This is the undeniable truth

Dogs are hyperactive, emotional creatures that get depressed if you don't walk them twice a day. Cats are superior because they walk themselves, and nap almost as much as I do.

I'm a cat person, but for the past few months I've been taking care of a dog exactly like this one. Sure its cute and adorable, and although I can cope with his hyperactiveness, honestly I'd prefer a cat. I don't want to sound like a retarded cat person, but dogs seem so... stupid. Not saying that cats are smarter, just that my cat never ran head-first into a wall at full speed after chasing a ball. I guess it's all about preference and past experiences.

My last cat (RIP socks) was so awesome. I never had to walk him, he learned to pee in the right place after 1 day, and jumped on my lap, curled up, and purred each time I spent some time typing something up.

Those who hate cats for being "gay" or for "fags" or "women" are just afraid of their own sexuality.
>> Anonymous
I am a total dog person, but I've had a few cats in the past and I didn't hate them (except one, but it wasn't actually mine so..., they were nice creatures and we came along with each other. However, my bf (i'm a girl, if you don't believe just take me as a gay) has always been a cat person. He still prefers cats over dogs, but now he has his own dog too, and I could say that I converted him into a cat-AND-dog person.

I think it is boring when people say things like "dogs are stupid and totally inferior to cats!" or "cats are for fags!" etc... Although I DO understand that whining and bitching IS the meaning of 4chan, but still.

Both are nice creatures, and it's up to ones personality wich he likes better. We have two dogs now, no cats since I'm a bit allergic. My little puppy was perfectly housetrained in less than a week wich I concider a great achievement and it took me three days to teach her to sit when asked.

Sorry for such a long post and propably a bad grammar.

my two cats run into doors and fall from tables with the most entertaining facial expression. its so funny, i love them. but seriously, they are not very smart.
i think my parents' collie is very clever, not because she is well trained (because she isnt), but because she knows how to manipulate my father and understands how to do certain things without human help.
i had a very smart cat, too, but she died 2 years ago of kidney failure.

well, there are stupid dogs and there are stupid cats -- and smart dogs and smart cats, just like there are smart and stupid people. *shrugs*

Seriously? That is my cat's favorite pasttime.

I have 2 dogs, a cat, and a pig. I guess that makes me a neutral party.
>> Anonymous
I think I like cats better because you don't have to rule them, or think about dominating them all the time. Even if the cat thinks it owns you, you don't have to give a shit, and you never have to maintain some kind of power over it, because it doesn't expect a clear ranking in the family anyway. I want a friend, not a slave.
>> Anonymous
>>102311
I agree that in that way cats are better. But I never understood that "slave" idea. I mean, do you think that the lower ranking wolf in a pack is a slave for the higher ranking one? Dogs co-operate, and like most people they co-operate better if they know their place and their responsibilities. So the best way to be a dogs true friend is to take the responsibility in the "pack" so the dog doesn't have to worry about anything.

Sitll, I like cats too, almost as much as I like dogs.

Dogs are superior because you can take them for walks and get attention from chicks

doesnt really work unless you have a "girl dog" (like pom, toy poodle, pug aso) or meet girls who love dogs anyway.

imho girls are much more impressed by guys who like cats.

I'll fuck a guy who likes cats.
