Quick /an/ I need help.
I was walking home a while ago and a possum started to follow me (I live in new zealand). I tried to shoo it away, but it wouldn't leave me alone. So it followed me home, and i've just put it in a cat carry cage. It's got some apple (no seeds), and a bowl of water. I'm going to ring the SPCA once they open, but that's in just over an hour. Advice on what i should do/feed it?

No, not awesome... one of my flatmates has a fear of animals. Stupid, but yeah. Plus I don't have the knowledge/resources to look after it...

When they do that, it mostly means that they are emotionally attracted to you.

This often happens when they are ready for mating, they sometimes attach themselves to humans happen to walk in their area.

You should quickly proceed to massage it's genitial area or it might become unstable due to the immense pressure building up. There have been reports of them dying of shock because of this issue not being resolved. It just needs some love. I trust you are able to help it. No matter what you do, DO NOT CONTACT SPCA! You can help it much better yourself.

...you mean give the possum a handjob?

Well you're putting it in kind of in a human perspective. Humans have "sex for fun."
This is not the case for animals. Their instincts are strong and sometimes they just need it in order to function properly, it might make them do unnatural stuff like this, eg. attaching themselves to humans. Just think of it as a medical way of helping it.

There are no possums in NZ. I was there, heard them, but was told by the locals that there are no possums in NZ.

Tell that to Bonobos, dolphins, and Japanese Macaques. They have sex for pleasure, and not just for mating purposes.
