Sup guys, first time poster on /an/ here.

My sister bought a 4 week old kitten yesterday and wanted me to 'catsit' for a couple of days while she's working. The problem though is that I'm really concerned for the kitten's welfare. Not only are there several gaps in the apartment where my sister lives at that the kitten can get lost in, but my sister has no idea how to raise a cat at all. She thinks that giving the kitten wet and dry food is enough at his age. It is true that he should be learning how to eat soft foods now, but I'm pretty sure he still requires some KMR for now. Not to mention her little hellspawn (5 yr old boy and 3 yr old girl) can't quite treat the poor kitten well, especially the 3 yr old. My nephew was around my cat when he was a baby, so he at least knows how to be gentle with it.

tl;dr - how can i quickly teach my sister to raise a kitten in two days and calm my worries about him? (his name is Chino :V)

Yeah, cat still needs KMR. Plug the holes up with rags so cat can't get into them. Honestly, I would keep the cat until it's older and can run away from stupid kids.

4 weeks old is way too young to be apart from mother. He needs bottle feeding and gradual weaning onto hard food.

Under no circumstances should the toddler be allowed to handle the kitten. If he can be closed into a single room with nowhere to escape or get tangled (ie close closets, no beds to hide under, no cables around, etc), and bottle fed, he should do allright.

If those things are not possible, please take the kitten to a shelter. And also kick your bitch sister in the cunt and tell her to stop popping out babies.

Keep the poor kitten. Tell your sister she knows nothing about raising cats and doesn't deserve it back. Rescue the poor thing!

Thank you very very much anon and non anon. I convinced my sister to get some KMR, so hopefully the little guy can have something more than water today =\

My sis doesn't even like cats, she's more of a dog person. She got the kitty for her kids @_@; I'm gonna see if I can try to spend time with him as much as I can, but I can't also leave my gal at home by herself for a long time too (lol pic related)I can't keep him though, because the apartment building I'm at doesn't really allow pets, so I'm already pushing it with my gal T_T wish I could.

I tried to convince my sister to get an older cat, but she came up with a lame excuse (oh we can't train it when its old). There was a really friendly 1 1/2 year old gal at the same pet store, but she thought that was 'old'. Thankfully the bathroom in this place is relatively safe and contains no hidden places for him to hide. Hopefully once he gets on his feet eating solid foods and somewhat independent, they could keep him in there for the day until he's older and bigger.
I don't wanna kick her in the cunt though, I might catch something D=

Hit her with a fucking baseball bat or shover her down some stairs then. Even IF there was a reason for people to breed, she appears to be of the sort that shouldn't.

This is...upsetting. Get the poor kitty away from her and her kids somehow, even if you can't keep him yourself. "We can't train it when it's old"? Wtf? Does she think she's going to train it to play fetch or something?

And a 1/2-year old is nowhere close to old, cats live between 15-20 years if they're properly taken care of.

She doesn't deserve a pet *period*, it sounds like. Please rescue that kitten somehow. Find someone who CAN keep him, or take him to a shelter. :/

I agree with Bitter even my step mother did not let my half sister around cats till she was 5 and got a 6 Month old cat when she knew my half sister would at least know hhow to be gentle with the cat...

I like how you put all your periods in one place at the end there. Rather novel approach to puncuation. Might as well put all the a's together, all the t's in one spot. Don't worry, we'll figure it out.

But yes, again, please remove your sister from the gene pool and the cat from her possession. If possible, neuter the kids, just in case.

Your sister is a fucking idiot

i lol'd and that was probably the funniest thing i have read on /an/ today and it sucks that it happened in such a shitty thread...

Anyway, I don't think it is necessary to bottle feed. Chances are you might not even be able to get it to bottle feed if it is only used to suckling. If necessary mix the KMR in with wet food to supplement the kittens diet.

You should definitely find a way to take the kitten out of that environment though.

I lol'd heartily.

Whelp, even though my sister wants to keep the cat, I've been able to feed him the KMR and find another, larger place in the house with very little hiding places that he can hide in. He is much more energetic and happy now, and I'm confident that I can start to do what>>131928
suggested with the KMR and wet food. Thanks again guys. :)
