Hey /an/, my dog since yesterday has developed a limp and it seems like his from right paw/leg is bothering him. When he walks he has a limp as I mentioned and when he is standing still he raises his leg to avoid putting pressure on it (picture is of my dog doing the latter). I have examined his paw and haven't been able to find any wounds or thorns or anything large enough to be seen by the naked eye. Since this happened over the weekend we haven't been able to consult a vet yet but we will take him in tomorrow.

Basically my question is what could have happened, could it be a very small splinter or a muscle sprain? Also, he seems very uncomfortable, is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable until he sees a vet?

could be arthrthitis :(

Unfortunatly something like this happened to my dog. :( It ended up being like a sciatic nerve injury in the back that was pressing on the nerves going to the legs. So you can play with the leg and paw all you want and you won't find anything. All we could do was keep her in her kennel 3 weeks straigh except for food and bathroom and that didn't heal it so we had to put her down. They said the operation to fix it was like $2000 and not guaranteed. :\

Looks like a Bichon Frise. Could be skin irritation if it is.

The vet will have arthritis medicine if thar what it is. my dog was on it for a couple years. It kinda phased in and out with the weather.

OP here, thanks for the replies. We took him to the vet and they couldn't find anything on an x-ray and he showed no signs of lyme, which was the biggest suspect. The vet found no signs of pain and my dog had full joint motion with no problems, just the lameness. We are now giving him an anti-inflammatory. Final diagnosis was that it's probably a sprain, but>>83567kinda scares me since he wasn't reacting with pain at all to having any part of his leg touched.

I dunno, he's fixed, wouldn't that make pimpin' even less easy?

He's a maltipoo. I know they can get problems in their back legs but hadn't heard anything about issues in the front legs.
