So, /an/, what is your preferred method for getting rid of fleas?

We have 3 indoor cats (one of them occasionally escapes and eats some grass, but we bring her back inside) who somehow managed to get fleas. They've all got flea collars now, and we have some spray for the furniture, but there are still fleas. Help me.

Flea collars are worthless. You need actual flea medication from a vet. Then, you need to flea shampoo for the carpet to kill all the eggs.

Yeah, they're due for shots anyway so that will probably work out well.

Anything we can do while waiting for the vet appointment?
I've heard of weird homemade "flea traps" of, like, dish soap and water...not sure how that works...

flea collars are not only worthless but dangerous, throw them out.

Just pick up some Advantage from a pet shop or vet, expensive but the best treatment for the cat.

I didn't know they were dangerous. We haven't had any problems with them yet :/

We'll definitely get them into the vet. Thanks.

Oh, and sorry for being a dumb cat owner.

you really don't need to actually make an appointment with the vet. All the vets I know sell Frontline or Advantage over the counter in the reception area, or you can find it in a pet supply shop. You can also buy it online.

If you cat has an adverse reaction, then you should take it to the vet.
