Couple questions on Freshwater Aquariums Anonymous Prime !/RDa1B/y1o
Hey /an/, is it possible to do a good water change for a freshwater tank by just taking out some water, cleaning it with chemicals or whatever and putting it back in? I heard of some guy doing that for his aquariums on this board one time and I was just wondering if it was reliable.

Also, anybody know the pros and cons on a foam tank background for a tank? I have a big one with a little cave in it but I was just wondering if there might be any risks or trouble when cleaning or anything at all.

Take your old tank water wand water your garden with it. Its great for plants. Cleaning it with chemicals isnt advised, unless you have an entire small cleaning plant in your house to restore the water to drinking quality.

unless your aquarium water contains salt, then it'll kill the plants

OP, no, whoever told you that lied. at the very least, reusing the same water over and over will deny fish of much needed minerals. think of it as breathing the same air over and over, with room spray added to make it smell better each time

You remove the old water because it is saturated with poisonous remains of the fish feces.
Nitrite, NItrate, Phosphate, Ammonium, all these.
A filter helps to break these down to harmless substances, but over time it will accumulate.
A water change is always needed.

graaaaahhh don't do a full water change!
don't add 'chemicals and stuff'
that will kill all the good bacteria you need in your fliter for your fish to flourish. DO SOME RESEARCH.
