my dog tore his knee yesterday- im guessing cruciate ligament/acl damage. he limps noticeably, keeping weight off of his front right leg.but he keeps running on it like a tard (whenever he sees a cat or a dog run past outside) and just hurting it more.Any solutions besides surgery? Should I fashion him a mini crutch/splint to support his leg?I'm thinking he just needs rest, but it's impossible to keep him still, he will just be relaxing in the backyard, then smell something and go off running.Picture semi-related, not him- but close enough.Rottweiler cross 7+ years old, he's an outside dog, weighs 45kg+. We first noticed it 3 days ago, he shows no pain/ discomfort in general, just walks with a limp and squeals when he runs then stops suddenly on it.
>>tore his knee yesterday>> noticed it 3 days agotore it _MORE_ i mean, limping got worse.
If he's not putting weight on it (especially for several days) he needs to go the the vet. Frankly, you're kind of an asshole for not taking him sooner.
Take him to the vet, dumbass.
If he's squealing, he *is* in pain. Lots of it-- dogs are tough and will put up with a lot before they make a sound.Take him to the vet!!!
