This is my bird, what do you think of it?

Its an Eclectus, but he is so sweet, never has tried to bite, almost a year old.

This pic was at a park where there were little water jets we let him go into.

Eclectuses are ZOMG HUEG, aren't they? Hee. They look nasty too, but I suppose one that's really accustomed to people...

Also, please downscale your images in the future. There's no point in posting pics like this if they're 1.4 megs big. But please, don't take this as a "never post here again", because that's not what I'm saying!

I think he left it that big on purpose.
You can see his reflection in the bird's eyes, taking his picture. That's awesome.

Not of him playing, but here he is near them, he also jumps in the shower at times.

The last pic is my quaker. She eats everything you give to her, and eats it with her foot.

He likes to lay down on his belly in the middle of the shower and close his eyes.

i would love a parrot, but i just can't stand their squawking and annoying calls. i live next door to someone with a macaw and it never shuts the fuck up.

Maybe a cocketiel? Anyway the one that I visited was always damn near silent. Good bird.

Macaws are a lot worse than other birds. If you looked into it, you could most likely find a quiet breed of parrot. Of course, sometimes it comes down to individual personalities, because..

We had a cockatiel and she never, ever shut up. Ever.

Greys and umbrella cockatoos are two birds I've worked with that seem to be on the quieter side, but they're big and live a very long time. If I was to get a bird of some sort, I'd go small.. probably a lory, or a rock pebbler. Rock pebblers sound like really funny birds.

What an awesome bird.

haha i forgot to mention that i do have a cockatiel. she barks REALLY loud if someone in the room. i love her but she's so annoying. lol.

i saw some videos on youtube of a man who owned an african grey that got very stressed out whenever he left her alone. if they're like that i shouldn't get one unless i plan on living with someone else.
lorikeets are one of the most beautiful birds i have seen and i've looked into them before. their diet seems a little complex and aren't they very messy because of it?

excuses, excuses..
i think i'll look into qauker parrots. i don't think they are illegal here.

Oh, the nectar diet? I heard it makes their droppings really runny and that they can get some pretty mean distance on them. One of the cons, I guess. I had the pleasure of taking care of a few of them while I worked at a pet store, though. We fed them a little nectar, but also a specially formulated lory diet, this pellet deal. Cleanup wasn't too bad.

But they are probably the sweetest birds I've ever handled. The ones we had were young, too.. they'd hang from your hands, nibble your fingers, feel around with those long feathery tongues.. so cute! And one of them even started to try and mimic us, mumbling in his funny little voice. I wish we could have kept them around longer but they always sold fast.

Quakers are cool, too, though. I imagine a handfed youngster would be a real joy to raise.

yes, lorikeets are very beautiful birds, and beautiful in personality too.
Especially Rainbow Lorikeets, theres alot of wild ones which live around my house, they perch up in the trees and will come up pretty close to you.
heh, once I went to a reptile park when I was little, was holding an ice-cream in my hand while inside the bird enclosure, looked around, then before I knew it 5 rainbow lorikeets were on my arm all licking my ice-cream, so sweet.

I'm jealous ;_; I always wanted an eclectus.

Just adding an Aussie parrot pic taken in my back yard. It's a Rainbow Lorikeet, and they are here in huge numbers when the bottlebrush tree blooms.

Despite this image, he kind of gives off a vibe of "I'm plotting your doom" in the fountain image. In the "I really resent your clipping my wings" sense. But then, I have no idea whether he's clipped or not...

Quakers tend to be very cage defensive. They can be quite charming out of the cage but in it they're absolute monsters. You get anywhere near and they puff up, start bobbing and gyrating and bite like fucking machine guns.

If you want a small bird from a generally very amenable species, then get yourself a caique. They're expensive and rarish but absolutely adorable and very clever. They love playing on their backs and they're excellent at learning tricks.

same where I live.
but here in western australia, they're introduced, by still pretty nonetheless.
theres huge flocks of them in trees all over the neighborhood.

dont get me started on them galahs though. crazy things, they screech and they drop seeds on you.

I've had two quakers over my life, neither of which were cage-defensive. I'm not saying they may not have a tendency towards it, but it shouldn't be regarded as if all (or even most) of them are.
And OP pic isn't a quaker anyway, it's a male eclectus.

Also quaker parrots are _clumsy_. One should be extra through in birdproofing the area where the bird can go around by himself, because those birds simply can't be trusted to not fall into your trashcan and so forth.
