Why are they patterenedededed? I thought they were only like that when they were unhealthy and were going to finish metamorphing?

Anon what state do you live in. Where did you get those tiger salamanders. These are not mudkipz but will be slowpokes.

do you mean unhealthy OR metamorphing? i thought this was normal as they turn into adult tiger salamanders?
>> Anonymous
those are not axolotls.
they are tiger salamander larvae.

Axolotls only very rarely morph. and only if they either
1) injected with hormones in a science lab
or
2) kept in such horrible conditions that they are forced to leave the water and morph.

its very stressful and painful for an axolotl to morph.

OP here:

I live in Ohio and i got them @ a local pet shop i told the owner that it is illegal to sell native species and since i keep axolotls i figured i could work with tiger salamanders. also i thought they would make a nice addition to my herp collection. also i did some research and found out that these specimens are in the cannibalistic stage of development. if you want i can keep you updated on their development in /an/ just keep an eye out for my threads.
