Have some siamese fighting fish and chips instead.

It might be ok, depending on how much chlorine and stuff they put in the water in your area, plus bettas are very hardy and can survive a lot of crap you throw at them.

If you have nothing to purify your water simply boil it for about 15 minutes then let it fully cool first(duh). I've done it before when i had to.

what the fuck the moment it went into the water it died FUCK! did I have to wait for the water to become pure

Bettas can live in tap water for a short amount of time, just change it frequently. I've had one living in pure tap water for a few months now and I change it often. It's better to get water purifier because there are chemicals put into tap water to make it safe for us to drink, but toxic to them.

If it died when you put it in the water it was probably pretty deadish when you got it, or you poisoned it. =\

boil your water, let it sit in the fridge and keep checking it until room temp, and then they should be fine, if you do that system you dont need water conditioner/purifier

My family bought some of those once. First we put them in a glass vase and all but two died. (There were four total) Then we released them into the pond. One was sucked into the pump and killed the other was killed by a large gold fish.

We have a well, so our tapwater doesn't have anything unnatural in it, and our Betta is two.

your story has to be semi-believable or it won't work.

i have one of those. it's been alive for a few months now. i got it for like $10(including the tank and food). ever since last month it goes crazy at night and bangs itself against the tank. now i find ants floating on top of the water everyday. it just eats the ants so i really dont have to feed it as much anymore. =\

What isn't believable about it? They tore the shit out of each other and then got killed by a pond-pump and a large gold fish. The fish that killed the last survivor was bout 5 to 6 inches long where as the "fighting fish" were maybe 1 or 2 inches.

Probably from eating ants.
