Hay /an/
I know, cat thread #498439, but I actually have a question about my cat Antje. She has some sort of a birth defect and has a deformed arm, pictured here. Is it just a crappy birth defect and she's okay, or are they going to find something else wrong with her when I bring her in to be spayed? I'm too lazy to use my googlefu, my mother is paranoid about anaesthesia, the vet is almost an hour away so it's too annoying to drive there to ask them, etc.

Sorry about the piss poor photo, my camera is broken and this was the only decent shot I could find.

can't you...call the vet?

Well yes, but they don't want to talk on the phone, they want to see the cat in person, hence "too annoying." They're slaughtering fuckers too, and think the answer to everything is to put the animal down, even when nothing is wrong, so I'm a bit scared what they'll think.

Guess no one knows, so this thread is now about cats climbing on shit like crazy fuckers.

OP, the vet's can't put the animal down without your permission. Even if they're insane vets, they have to abide by the law. If your cat is not in pain, is healthy and gets along fine and if it's just a birth defect, I see no reason why they'd put her down.

Most (good) vets will not give out medical advice sight unseen. It's a liability, and it can be dangerous for the animal is the owner is retarded and has no clue what he's talking about (as is the case with everyone on /an/ posting "wuts wrong wit mah pet" threads).
