if bats are basically rodents, and people keep rodents as pets, what's stopping people from owning bats as pets? they seem like they'd be more intelligent than rats, who are apparently pretty intelligent

bats are far from being rodents.
because they are extremely hard to keep as pets. they almost always die on you. wild bats can live over 25 years but bats as pets rarely survive more than a year.
there is also several laws protecting them from being pets.

also i'm sure the government/health department/who the fuck ever would have a fucking ball if bats were imported as pets with the whole rabies shit

Bats are actually closer to primates than rodents. I can't imagine why people still imagine they have anything to do with herbivorous gnawing animals like mice.

Interesting fact, in a vampire bat colony, one bat will give up some of the blood it's collected to another bat that's had bad hunting recently.

Oh god I wish I could have a pet bat. D: They're so damned cute and interesting, but there's no way I could ever afford to set up a place for it to live comfortably, so instead I'll just daydream.

But only to a bat that had helped it out before.

You're thinking of macrobats, like flying foxes that evolved from lemurs.

Evolution doesn't exist, /b/tard. Jesus created bats to punish people like you.

They are obviously birds because they fly.

I know this because the bible told me. Also Jesus.
