So /an/, my cat slipped out because of my dad being careless.

I've left food out for him and a can of tuna in front of the house. I've also walked around the neighborhood calling for him and shaking his favorite treat.

I'm planning to put up posters and call the local animal shelter tomorrow if he still doesn't appear.

Are there any tips or ways to increase my chances of finding my cat? I know it's mainly a waiting game but I want to try my best in improving the situation.

Extra info: He has a tag/collar but I haven't gotten him microchipped yet since I was planning to do that next month after neutering him.

cat dont care about humans, it probably wont be back.

It'll end up wherever it finds food tastier than yours.

Him? Hope you don't have neighbors with female cats. Males tend to never come back when that happens.

I didn't know that. Hm, well I'm not too worried about him not coming back as long as if he's safe somewhere but I think the chances of that are pretty low. Thank you for the information.

My mother-in-law had a male cat that disappeared outside. It was gone for over a year, but it came back. A little skinny, but he was fine. There's really nothing you can do but wait and see if he decides that life in the real world isn't for him or wants to visit you again.

Yeah OP, my friend had a cat who left when he was eleven and came back when he was almost thirteen. They assumed he was dead and he just showed up out of the blue. Apparently he was living less than a mile away. Best thing you can do is wait it out, hope for the best, and reflect on the good times you had with him.

Good thing my cat is a huge pussy and is too afraid to leave for longer than 10 seconds.
