anyone know what these things are? i've seen several in my house, just in the past few days, which is kind of odd because i've never seen them before. they're long and thin and kind of slow and dopey. any ideas?sorry for the bad picture, i took it after hitting the bug with a water bottle.
>>311632hnnnnngg :o[ these are about an inch long - i always imagined that all lice were small (although considering the ridiculous number of insect species, i wouldnt be surprised if there were big ones).
here's another picture, though it might not be of much help!
Pretty sure that's an earwig.
>>311928i dont think it is, we get earwigs here too and they are definitely different. similar size though.
They are adult Staphylindae beetles, I dont know why they would be in your home though. What they eat depends on the species, but some eat dried out dead animals.
>>312418yes, thank you, that's what they are! i haven't seen one since i posted the first image, so it could just be a fluke. i assume they came inside one day when we left the back door open for a while.
