Yup, it's normal. I've owned five hamsters so far and all of them have done it. Hamsters produce two different kinds of poop--the kind that's actually waste, and one kind that contains nutrients that couldn't be previously digested. The hamster will eat that poop so that it won't lose those nutrients that it passed. They're not the only animals that do this, but I don't know which others do.
