I rarely pick up my rabbits, but they will nudge my feet when they want to get petted and they're always around me, except for nap time. Prey animals relate won't relate to humans as cats or dogs. I don't know much about GPs, but there should be several sites around discussing their behavior. GPs can vocalize a few sounds, while rabbits can, so with rabbits, you need to understand their body language. GP likely also have a body language and understanding that will tell you when theiy're pissed, afraid, happy or in pain.
