My mom does and she always checks the family trees of all the cats to avoid incest.
She knows many breeders kill kittens if they don't sell early enough, but my mom has never done that. She knows many breeders that keep the cats in cramped dirty spaces, but in our home the cats run mostly free with the humans, except when the girls get in heat, they are put into a separate room to avoid accidents.
There are breeders with clean intentions too. My mom loves her cats and treats them very well. I suggest you do background checks on your cats before you buy them if you're going for a purebreed cat.
