I have this cat who came to the house because my male cat, Pitic, brought her with him when she was younger. Although Pitic's fighting abilities suck and he always gets his ass kicked by other cats from the block, they are both healthy cats and I cannot remember them getting sick. The female cat who doesn't really have a name had offspring a month ago and I asume they're Pitic's offspring. They were 6 kittens originally, but one died three days later.

My problem is with the little fella in the picture, he's the smallest of them all (just compare his size with the tuna can in the picture) and still has some problems with rheums. I often catch him spacing out in the middle of the backyard while his brothers are doing something else, his size and weight make the nutrition problems obvious, and it seems to me their mother isn't the most caring cat in the world with them.

What can I do to help him get in shape, what should I feed him? Any tips are welcome, help this lousy owner, /an/.

Might want to take him to the vet then, there's a chance that he's a runt, but if he's been outside there's also a chance he could have gotten something? Other than medical care giving him kitten chow would help to beef him up provided nothing else was wrong

How old is he?

They all live outside. Pitic's mother was a stray cat we adopted, so she lived outside of the house. Pitic followed her steps.

The problem, since you state his mother doesn't take care of him, is he could be the runt. Sometimes mother cats will do that to their offspring, you are lucky..if that is the case, that she hasn't killed him yet. You could try to feed him yourself, or take him to the vet, that might be better. But then, they also might get all hopeless and say he has no chance of survival so he's better off dead. Sometimes I hate vets.

My cat was a sickly little runt who had at least two viral infections. The vet suggested we put her down, but I cried a lot, so the vet gave us some medicine. She's 17 now, and though she's still a runt and underweight, she's pretty healthy, especially for a cat her age. She's an outdoor cat like yours.

My suggestion: take the kitten to a vet before it's too late. And get the rest of your cats fixed.

That junk you get in your eyes when you get a cold or any other kind of upper respiratory infection. Which is what it sounds like this kitten's got, in which case, get the cat to a vet ASAP. It could possibly infect the other cats.
