Peter Arras doesn't even know what a psychopath is. And even if Knut is 'a psychopath', he's a bear for fuck's sake. They tend to be self-absorbed, unempathetic, and have little sense of right or wrong.

links please?

If Knut was American they'd just give him some prozac and send him out the door.

Same goes for everyone on 4chan but I don't see it making headlines anytime soon.

Armchair expert says: Knut is actually an normal, active young polar bear. He's not a "psycopath".
>> Anonymous
Does this mean he'd rather mate with humans?

Not dissagreeing with the "he'll never mate" part, (that's standard fare for many captive wild animals) just the "psycopath" bit.

In humans psychopathy is dominantly inherited, genetic trait. Wanna guess if polar bears are any different?

Psycopathy is defined by society
>> Anonymous
>>219625
So you are saying that psychopathy, as defined by society, is genetic?

No, I'm saying that society (via norms, folkways, and other means) defines "normal" and "abnormal" behavior. Certain mental conditions are genetic in origin, but not all. Nature vs. nurture and all that. Get yourself a used Intro Psych textbook.

What bugs me is that zoologist here can't even state that the bear has a particular disorder, only that he's a "psychopath". Look, you're dealing with a young, active, captive raised but none-the-less WILD FUCKING BEAR. Of course it's going to act sporadically at times, it's a wild animal. Labling its behavior as psychopathic is an absurd misuse of the term. ("psychopath" is practically useless anyway)
