They're CHICKENS. I think the only time they even know they're unhappy is when they're being killed.
>> Anonymous
It's things like this that make me refuse to eat chicken even though I'm a carnivore. That's terrifyingly disgusting.
>> Anonymous
This is why you ALWAYS buy free-range eggs.

Nature is vicious, nature is cruel, nature is not in support of the losers, the stupid, the weak, the crippled, the retarded.

We are the only species on this planet that gives any damn how "humane" our food comes

Fuck that.

how many tomatoes died for you salad. Plants are as much a living thing as animals, the only reason you think its ok is because it doesnt have a face and cant scream when you murder it.

Plants take in water, they reproduce, they have circulation, they grow and adapt.

Just like any animal.

Besides it doesnt matter if you eat them or not, they are still being killed. So what you are doing is letting your "animal friends" die in vein.

you can at least give them a purpose by eating them, its not a very dignified one, no, but at least they are not being senselessly killed.

So enjoy your salads and your short term life spans.

because they will just die anyway.

and if you havent forgotten Nature wont treat you with the same kindess that you all treat it.

go hang out with lions, or bears or alligators for a little while. Survival of the strongest not the ones who are weak or have a bleeding heart for animals.

Humans treat Animals and plants the same as they Treat other humans, Some are our best friends, some are ok and others we despise with the greatest hate and anger. so stop mopeing and crying If chickens were meant to be free then they would of evolved better, Until then; sucks to be them

we receive vital nutrients, and NATURAL nutrition from animals, Taking pills and medical suppliments are made from machines.

so every time you buy a bottle of protien pills you are only funding the same system that you hate for animal cruelty.

good job, Enjoy your fail.

It's "vain"

Anyway, animals are fucking tasty. Just had some to eat today, and will do so tomorrow as well.

you guys are getting upset because these guys are providing a warm shelter and food for these chickens? Protecting them from predators? God you guys are dumb
>> Anonymous
Okay, so here's what you do.

You and 100,000 of your friends pack into a warehouse just big enough for you all to fit shoulder to shoulder.

Now, have everybody drop trow and take a dump on the floor.

See how much fun you have when you can't leave.

The mental capacity and the mind of a chicken does not equal a humans.

They could care less, they are a prey.

You aren't a chicken so stop trying to feel like one and sympathize

Look, I've raised chickens. Don't tell me that they don't feel pain or are somehow undeserving of mercy or humane treatment just because they're dumb as a brick.

I agree that chickens don't fare well without human care, or at least protection from predators. Taking a creature that needs our care and exploiting it by crowding hundreds of thousands of them into crowded confines where they can't even escape their own excrement, let alone the choking heat and dust-filled air, is cruel, and needlessly so.

I'm 74925 and after reading the rest of the posts in this thread, I'd like to clarify that I do not eat chicken because I do not want to eat something that's been standing shoulder to shoulder with more of the same, knee deep in their own shit.

And even if chickens were raised humanely, I probably still wouldn't eat them because they taste like crap. But I'd be less likely to get sick at the thought of eating them.

In all the time you have spent whining on a board where noone cares, 47 thousand chickens have died of poor conditions in feed farms

Boy you sure are doing alot to help aren't ya.

76878 here (since that seems to be all the rage in this thread). Thanks to the wonders of growth hormones, they don't have to suffer long. In fact, most of their lives they spend in near-dark on a mesh floor where their poop falls through, and they all know where their food and water is. They just stand, eat, drink and grow. They do this so they grow faster (not expend energy) and don't fight with each other. They live about a month and a half before they're turned into a delicious meat that tastes like chicken. If there wasn't a demand for them, they'd never be bred in the first place, so it's not like a person that has a pet that they're neglecting for years on end. Speaking of which, did I feed my parakeet today...

OP's pic is nothing compared to the stuff PETA hands out when they visited my school. Can't we be like Asian ppl and eat free ranged chicken? They taste better with their firmer meat, etc.
>> Anonymous
>>75090
>>free ranged chicken
according to the USDA, our own "free range" chicken designation means having a door open for a few minunites where chickens "may" get to go outside and walk around.
>> Anonymous
I dont have a problem with meat eating, in fact, meat is delicious. But i do have a problem with the way humans treat animals because of greed.

Humane treatment seems to be out of the question because "its too expensive."

What's the big deal? It's just a bunch of chickens with brains smaller than a grape who live for less than a year in a warehouse. Most people can't keep chickens in their back yard to provide eggs and meat because they live in flats in the cities, why can't they have cheap food too? As long as they do the decent thing, maintain high levels of hygiene and don't throw them into a meat grinder whilst they still alive etc, it's not evil.
>> Anonymous
if the op posted this because it's about chickens standing around in their own shit, i've got a feeling that you expose yourself to far dirtier things in your everyday life

besides, how bad is that shitty chicken when it's been appropriately cooked?

regardless, do your own thing - as for me, imma imbrace my inner omnivore. AWW YEAH

vegans and vegetarians are products of a privilaged society where they actualy think they are seperate from nature and the food chain

kinda like those fucking anti engineered food bastards that told the government of a starving nation in africa that tons of donated grain that came from geneticly modified crops was poisonous.

No "quotes" about it. It's not cost efficient. If you think that CHICKENS deserve humane treatment, then I can safely say that the 6 year old I baby sit is less naive than you.

lol? big deal the chickens arent tortured are they?
they look alright, this picture is just like fucking average metro or crowded city lol

Still tasteless. I'd rather eat overcooked cow than appropriately cooked chicken, and I'd rather eat undercooked cow.

Deliciousness is an evolutionary adaptation developed by chickens over the course of their relationship with humanity in order to ensure maximum species-wide reproductive capacity. This trait combined with the docility and stupidity they have developed through selective breeding has led them to become one of the most successful vertebrate species on Earth.
It may be difficult to accept, but in the eyes of evolution there is no such thing as quality of life. Like chickens we are slowly adapting to survival in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions because genetically speaking "success" is nothing but raw numbers.
Those few who manage to control their breeding via wealth, good sense and technology have only ensured that their respective genetic lines will die out, while hordes of destitute human cattle are reproducing frantically due to lack of birth control or really anything goddamned better to do.
Finally one must take note of the fact that there are certain people out there who regard us in the same way a farming industry regards its chickens. We are numbers, economic assets and nothing more.
Maybe all this is why we tend to feel uncomfortable when faced with the living conditions of a bunch of brainless chickens.

They died for a noble cause.

When I was little, my dad raised fighting chickens and forced us to raise them, though they were mean and I hated them. I eat a lot of chicken now, mainly out of spite.
>> Anonymous
>>75135
Agreed. In nature, success is measured in biomass, a simple number. This is why the antarctic krill is the most successful species on the planet. Hard to believe, but true.
