We rescued our dog almost four years ago. She was initially terrified of everything but is now easygoing and incredibly happy. She loves rolling in the stankiest shit you can imagine. We get her inside and the smell is unbearable but she's absolutely terrified of baths. She cries and shakes like we're killing her and won't calm down. I've tried the water at all different temps and I always stroke her and talk to her soothingly but nothing eases her fears. I feel so bad...We have a detachable showerhead so it does go pretty quickly but what can I do to make it more comfortable for her?
Sounds like you have a cat in a dog suit, because that's exactly what cats do.

CAT IN A DOG SUIT
My dog is like that too, but after the bath he's fine and happy since he's clean. Lots of dogs hate baths regardless if they were abused or w/e. All you can do is go as fast as possible and encourage it the whole time
Meh, some dogs are like that...not much you can do. It's best to just wash her as quickly as possible and call it a day. Or take her to a river or lake and let her swim in the water.
>>127249She only wants to swim in swamps, cranberry bogs, and mud puddles. She won't even come over to the side of the pool to let us pet her. Siiiigh.
