not about animals, but i need to find out a way to take away odor from water.
i got an experiment to do tomorrow where i have to get muddy, dirty water with solids and dissolved stuff in it and make it drinking water. Theres also an odor to it and we have to get rid of it and i cant find out how.

can anon help?

charcoal filters, u can make one, from tightly packed charcoal in a tube, letting the water drip through that but stuffing the bottom with cotton or fabric to catch the charcoal dust/particles...I think the boyscouts or army manual has a pic of what one of those self made doohickies look like

You can't find a filter that claims to remove odors? Did you even TRY to research this? Almost every water filter on the market removes odors!

1) Boil the water to kill any bacteria or other nasties that might be in it.

2) Filter it. First through a mechanical filter (say, a coffee filter) to remove the sand & dirt. Then through activated charcoal to remove any smell.

considering that this will be an "added odor" for the purposes of the gravimetric analysis, you can probably add something to the water to make it go away.

Why not try adding hydrogen peroxide? With heating, it will break down into normal water, and the oxygen released will react with whatever odour it is.
