Sup /an/.I know the rule of thumb is to keep 1 + 1 litterbox for every cat in the house, keeping in mind how many levels the house is.So, I have 2 cats in a 4 bedroom flat with two litterboxes. Thing is, they only use the one stationed closest to my desk on one side of the living room. The other litterbox is on the other side of living room, and their food is in the kitchen. My question is: is there anything detrimental in retiring the other litterbox? On average, they only take one poop a week in the far box, and I usually clean out their poopboxes once a night.TL;DR I have 2 cats and 2 litterboxes, and they only use one, can I get rid of the other?Pic unrelated.
teach them how to use the second. and by that i mean SHIT IN IT
better to keep it just in case.how old are your cats? I've got three strapping youngsters with five litter boxes, and they still manage to shit them all up beyond recognition by the end of the day. and im not even overfeeding them or anything.
>>306709They're both about a year old, and I dunno, they don't use the bathroom too much. If I clean it once a day and change the litter like once every 5 days or so, it's pretty manageable. They just never use the far one is all.
If you're worried about the size but they only use the one box; you could get a bigger box to accommodate both cats. Just keep checking the old spot to make sure they aren't still going there.
