When we are all dead for whatever reason. Who will take over?

Picture surprisingly related. Pls rate >9000 in ms paint.

You're doing it wrong. Nuclear war? Global warming? Flood? Ozone hole? NEED MOAR DATA FOR SERIOUS DISCUSSION!

We all disintegrate, or fly away on jetpacks, the world is as it is, except minus us, the humans.
>> Anonymous
>>245705
Well in that case...all of these species will survive, they are more or less independent from humans. Roaches and boars might hit a temporary low until their population is in balance again.
Apes will take over because they are the most intelligent and resourceful species.
>> Anonymous
>>245708
Except apes have that problem with abstract thought. They cant. that and they dont like to work together.
Pigs and dolphins can.
Cockroaches breed so fast, in the time it takes the others to think ' hay, metalworking!' they have already been domesticated ... again.

>>245711
Dolphins will never evolve into something higher because honestly, the ocean just does not offer enough stimuli. Maybe if they would magically evolve legs and leave their giant puddle.
Pigs? Nigga please...
Apes have already proven once that they can own the planet and it's really just a small step from ape to human.

Dolphins. Bugs are already in a weakened situation because they can't be fuckhuge anymore. The oxygen levels will probably drop more and make them even smaller if not die out. Land things would be killed by radiation and ozone and so on.

Dolphins are under the water, so some level of safety form sunlight, bombs, and other things. They don't breathe water so it might be a problem if oxygen lowers, but they're in the best situation to learn to breathe water to supplement, plus the breath holding. If the sea level rises, then they'll be the only ones capable of surviving of those 4.

In a thousand of years none!
Inteligence isn't the only hting that makes a species dominant. (there are flies and roaches everywhere and they are pretty stupid)

Urban roaches, rats, dogs, cats, etc will fall (less trash/food/homes) until balance.

Chimps will rise (recover from human destruction)
DOmestic pigs seems interesting, they would be able to live in the wild.

About future civilization, chimps would rule (they already are making spears and stone tools)

Dolphins have a big problem to create technology (no fucking hands)

This topic is a failure so far.

ELEPHANTS!

Well, them or Chimps or Gorillas. Whichever evolves first too have language.

You watched too much Babar.

WAIT!
Elephants have a mobil penis too, OMG!

Man I always hated Babar.

I remember that one show on Discovery or sumshit...and they had EVOLVED LAND SQUID becoming the dominant species.
>> Anonymous
>>245842

Yea, I think it was called Squibbon. They had a bunch of terrestrial Octopodiforms(is that correct?) Like a giant Elephant/Sauropod Octopus, an amphibious octopus, and then those sentient Squibbon things.

It also had fish that became birds, 4 winged birds etc.

It really wasn't THAT liberal with evolution when you compare life of today too that of 500 million years ago.

Rats will take over, according to Richard Dawkins
>> Anonymous
Both apes and dolphins are likely to never recover from all the shit humans have caused. Feral pigs will survive, as will cockroaches. Neither will be starting a civilization, their anatomy and ecology is just completely wrong for that kind of evolutionary twist. Instead, the next civilization will be built either by capuchin monkeys or corvids.

There is no way to know.

The ONLY thing Elephants lack is language. They can build, think creatively, are self-aware etc.

Their fingers are locked up in their wing membrane. Even elephants are more likely.

>Even elephants are more likely.

They can manipulate objects with their trunks.
>> Anonymous
>>245887

elephants will probably go extinct if humans do.
>> Anonymous
Whatever you say, roaches won't fall, because only 1% of all roach species live in urban habitats.
I dare to say that they're the most successful of these 4 portrayed animals, though not the most complex of them.
>> Anonymous
>>245896

What the hell makes you think that? The force killing them right now IS humans. If anything they'll proliferate.
>> Anonymous
>>245955

nope. you see, once humans are gone they won't be able to adapt to the dramatic changes that occur when we go. Just like the mammoths died out after the ice age.
>> Anonymous
>>245957

Elephants don't rely on Human settlements. And there is no major climate change currently happening that would kill the Elephants. Unless you mean Global Warming, but that'll kill everything overtime, not just Elephants.
>> Anonymous
>>245961

it's not relying on humans that would make them go extinct. it's the change in food webs, ecosystems etc. that would occur once people are gone. Many many species would be lost if humans were to suddenly disappear overnight. Not to mention, some worldwide natural catastrophe would wipe out elephants too if it could wipe out humans. Except disease.
>> Anonymous
>>245964

And this only applies too Elephants and not Pigs, Corvids, Dolphins, Chimps, or Octopi/Squid?
>> Anonymous
>>245965

what the hell are you talking about? I never said that. Of course it will apply to many different species of animal and plant
>> Anonymous
>>245965
Small and omnivorous animals are usually in the least risk of extinction during an environmental catastrophe. Population sizes, generation time and maximum amount of offspring per fertilization are also improtant issues. Based on these criteria, pigs and corvids are the most likely vertebrates of the lot to survive and elephants are in the greatest risk.
>> Anonymous
>>245968

You mean K strategists(Elephants) die and r strategists(Corvids/Pigs/Octopi) proliferate?

Ok I see what you mean. But I don't think humans leaving would really be such a big deal. Africa and SE asia are still third world for the most part and don't have a major impact on their environment besides overhunting.
>> 3007 8411 8277 ALEX
lol Corvids/Pigs/Octopi are hardly r strategists.

>>245973

ugh. AGAIN, it's not the removal of negative human impacts that will have an effect, it's just the very removal of people. You don't think removing some of the areas of highest population density in the world will have much impact on the environment?
>> Anonymous
>>245986

No not really. It'll just be domesticated animals which well get raped by wild animals.
>> Anonymous
God damned Sky-Squid will rule this planet by devouring the brains of the lesser species.
