My cat just left a dead bird at my back door, and i'm mad at him, but he's trying to cuddle in my lap like usual. Should I punish him?

What the fuck. Do you have any idea how hard it is to catch a bird? Your poor cat did all that work just to get a present for you, you fucking ingrate. Give him some goddamn salmon or king crab or some shit and praise him like the motherfucking badass he is.

You are either a troll or a bad cat owner.
The bird is a present for you, you should praise your feline.

Your cat did what cats naturally do, and you're considering punishing him? Why don't you just go ahead and beat him for meowing?

He brought you that bird as a gift because he loves you! He will be very proud of himself at this moment, so shower him with love and praise and get rid of the thing when he's not looking.

Ok, will do, thanks for the advice. I'm giving him lots of petting right now.

Btw I wasn't a troll but your responses did make me lol. Thanks.

You could also eat it.
The cat had a hard work, and it made all only for you. Show him some gratitude and eat it in front of him.

cats eat small things. he left it on your step as a present. it's a cats way of showing love. don't punish. :) hug! it's only nature, cats kill birds, birds kill mice, etc.

Anon cat-knower fag here.

He leaves dead things on the back of your porch as a sign that you are the alpha of the pack, or his leader. Same thing as with some dogs.

how 'bout making him an indoor cat and not letting him kill birds and get killed by dogs/cars/other predators?

Punishment doesn't work on cats, they can't understand that you being mean to them is in any way related to something they've done earlier. The only possible outcome would be for the cat to start avoiding you, so it doesn't get hurt again.
