Vitamins and the like are mostly a waste of money on a healthy dog if you feed them a good diet, in my opinion (as in, not purina). Get him in to some obedience classes with you even if he has all of his training, just to reinforce a bond and get him socialized in public. He should go to a vet as soon as possible after you adopt him, just to make sure he's healthy-- discuss the rest of your questions with the vet. Also, buy books.

Also, I doubt he's a purebred if he's only 35 pounds at one year. They should be mostly done growing by that point, and 35 is hardly typical shepherd size.
