Greetings /an/.

I was debating on getting a pet, and I was interested in a pacman/pixie frog.
I was wondering if it was a good idea for me as a beginner. I saw one online and one in a store and instantly fell in love with it. I'm willing to pay however much for it and it's needs.
What say you /an/?

Easy to keep, easier to kill. Don't feed it a diet of pinkies or anything, in fact if you ever do, only feed it one like once every few months, those things get these guys fat and fast. You don't wanna end up going "SO MY FROG DIED OF A HEART ATTACK." I'm not sure about the specifics of a diet. I held on of em before. It's like a wriggly wet hacky-sack that's breathing, they're especially laid back if you get them used to you. They're really bitchy and defensive otherwise and literally bark at people.

Haha, what fortunate timing. I was about to ask a similar question. I don't mean to hijack the OP's thread but they might find my questions of use as well...

I've been looking into getting one of these frogs myself, unfortunately there's no stores in my town (that I trust at least) that carry amphibians. I've been thinking about ordering one online but I'm a bit wary. I've poking poking at Big Apple Pet Supply, has any /an/on have experience (good or bad) with them? Or just mail-order animals in general. If you had to, could recommend a site to purchase an amphibian?

I had an albino one, it lasted a few months. One day I woke up at 5 in the morning to go to work. Checked to make sue he was OK, his water was full and the temperature/humidity in his tank were at the right levels. When I got home from work that day at 3 he was dead. I don't know WTF happened.
He was a good pet though, I liked him a lot and would get another in the future now that I know a little bit more about taking care of them.

Also, I fed mine crickets. I would go to petsmart and buy a box of crickets. At night they would chirp and drive me fucking crazy. piece of shit crickets I fuckin hated them. It was badass watching him eat them though. Pacman frogs don't use their tongues to catch food, they fucking chase their meals down and eat them up, they have teeth too.

How are frogs on the difficulty of care scale? I'd love to own a reptile/amphibian but I have a habit of killing anything small.

They're not too difficult to keep, but often die of intestinal impactions (they're very dumb and try to eat everything). When it's food time, they can become hoppy and bitey. Some pacs are very vocal and will squall loudly like a raccoon. Pixies are cute and a little more active but same as pacs, they do spend much of their time just hiding in the mud until food arrives.

easiest animal in the world to keep, but they are so inactive it hurts my brain, I think mine moved like 3 times in it's whole life while I had it for 2 years.

pac man/argentine horned frogs, like all amphibians, can be fun for looking at, but not actually a PET... not really pets for handling. These frogs get reasonably large, and can be quite aggressively hungry, eating everything they can fit in their mouths. Care requirements aren't too exacting, but keep in mind the osmotic effect of amphibian skin... any toxins in the habitat can kill the frogs in short order.
