Lost dog at my doorstep Anonymous
Hey guys, this dog was hangin outside my house entrance as i left for class today. I got back and he was still there.. I think she might have gotten lost yesterday or at night, it was raining pretty hard yesterday, classes after 6pm were cancelled. My mom asked around the neighborhood and nobody has claimed her.
Oh and her claws are bleeding from both hind legs, or whatever you call em. Looks like they were cut maybe? or can running for long distances fuck them up? I dont know guys. I own a fucking chihuahua teacup for gods sakes. what do i do!? anybody know what race it is? golden retriever pup maybe?

Oh, she's very pretty

Yes, a golden retriever. You'd want to take her to the vet first off, of course. The paws need some attention so you should probably clean them up to get dirt and bad bacteria out of there. After all that, you could bring her to a shelter, put up found posters, etc. If you want to keep her, you should have a big yard and such.

Thanks for the advice! Well, i have no problem keeping her, except for maybe my little chihuahua getting jealous if i spend time with the other dog lol. But i have a pretty big back yard and have no problem covering expenses. My old man doesn't want another dog though :( , i guess i'll have to wait and see what happens.
But yeah i guess i'll take her to the vet if my old man has no problem with that. Its not like she's a street dog, how much do golden retrievers cost?

i'm not much of a dog person, but i'm pretty sure golden retrievers aren't very common to be pure bred so wouldn't cost anything, if much. very sweet dogs. check w/ your local newspaper, they usually will put found ads in the classifieds for free. and Craigslist is always good. :-)

OP here, the retriever is still here!! She's grown pretty attatched to my mom, which is pretty ironic cuz my mom isn't much of a pet person.. but the dog has been great, really friendly and you can tell she's really releaved and feels safe here.
As for whether im going to keep it, i dont know. I dont mind keeping her, but i'd feel better putting up an ad and get her back to her owner. It's kinda wierd she doesn't have a collar or anything. But there's no way im kicking her to the streets!! no name yet- post ending in 0 gets to name her!

You owe it to yourself and the dog's owner to do everything you can to find her home.
How would you like it if your chihui got out and the first person that picked it up thought it was cute and kept it?

whoever said goldens are hard to find purebred is an idiot. they are one of the most common breeds on the face of the earth. please put up some FOUND posters, or post online, or search for LOST ads. the dog looks well taken care of, she needs to find her home. also, he back paws aren't bleeding. it's how dogs sometimes show they have allergies, its actually really common. they bite their back paws and chew at them, and their saliva turns the fur that pinkish color. good luck finding her home :)

reading comprehension. They said;
>i'm not much of a dog person, but i'm pretty sure golden retrievers aren't very common to be pure bred so wouldn't cost anything, if much.

meaning, most Goldens aren't 'purebreds' and just bred commonly and given out, so she probably didn't cost much.

also, good luck, OP! Her owner will be so relived to know she was in safe, loving hands before being brought home. Stroke of luck that you got her, and not some asshole teens. Do everything in your power to try to find her home.

bleeding hindpaws with no other obvious injuries usually indicates an indoor dog that's been walking a long time on pavement. also d'awwww, free puppy

for sure take her to the vet and get her checked out, or at least take her to a shelter (they sometimes will give free or cheap vet care, especially since it's not your animal).

keep us informed about what happens and if you decide to keep her!

I found my dog as a stray a couple of years ago, running around on a highway with a collar and leash on it, but no tags. We took out ads, put up flyers, contacted the local shelters... no one claimed her. It was nuts because she was well groomed and her teeth had recently been cleaned, but no one who cared enough about her to do those things bothered checking with shelters or a newspaper? It didn't make any sense, but whatever... their loss.

Wow, she looks like a sweetheart. Put up some flyers and an ad in the newspaper. Also make sure you get her checked for a chip to see if she has one. You might grow attached to her, but she belongs to someone else. If they really do care about her then they'll want her back.

If not, you might be able to keep her. I think she looks like a Trisha, personally. :3

I agree with some of the other anons, I looked up your dog in my book of dog breeds and I THINK that may be a golden retriever, though its hard to tell.
