How often do cats need to take baths?
>> Anonymous
they're pretty good about bathing themselves, usually.
>> Anonymous
not very often..only when they get into something particularly filthy
>> Anonymous
No need to bathe them unless they mess themselves in something gooey or dangerous.

haha give them a bath every day it's fun
also don't wear leather gloves when you do it

I had to give my cat a bath when he shit all over himself.

There was massive shit globs all tangled up in his fur, not to mention the runny mess all over his hind legs.

Was not fun.

w/ some cats, its never, others you can do it as often as they need (or you need) im a pet groomer and i have 2 cats, one never gets a bath (hes had 4 in his 4 years of life) the other gets one every 2-3 months becouse she sheds SO much that she has had an "obstruction" that needed to be removed and it was ALL fur! so i bath her w/ baby shampoo and a special conditioner for dogs and cats that help w/ shedding (the baby shampoo helps my boyfriend w/ his allergies to the cat it adds nothing extra to the coat) its all on the animal and the person. but if there is no issue then never, they don't TRULY need it

also if your cat is long haired i don't suggest grooming at home becouse as they air dry there cote can tangle and mat up and you don't want that!

pic is my stupid cat who cant hack up hairballs like normal kitties!

i tried to give a bath to my cat once.

never again.

I give my cat a bath only when he gets into something that makes him extremely dirty.

Like this one time he decided crawling under cars was an awesome idea... and he's a pure white cat.

i bathe my cats everyday.

they're 4 weeks old, and they don't have a mother to feed them milk, so they're more vunerable to bacteria, so I just throw them in a tub with some water filled with soap.
they were 4, but 2 of them died last week, found them dead in the tub : /

I have one cat that doesn't need a bath EVER and another cat that doesn't clean herself well enough. She needs to be bathed every 2-3 months or so otherwise she gets really scraggly and dandruffy.

When you absolutely, positively have to hold down a cat, leather welding gloves are excellent.

I bathed my cat when I brought him home. This was almost four years ago. A few times he's gotten diarrhea and made a mess in his fur (long hair, ugh), so I would take a wet soapy rag to his butt.

He stinks and could use a bath, but my sibling traumatized him. :/ Now he's afraid of bath tubs and rain storms.
