Hey guys,
I want to get a small dog that isn't a poodle or any gay shit. What do you reccommend?
Also not ass-rippingly expensive.
Pic unrelated.

try a shih tzu x maltese cross. They're not ass-rippingly expensive (around $100 US) and they don't look too gay. A lot calmer and less nippy than pure maltese too.

don't buy...adopt. The shelters are FULL of small, healthy, trained, nearly free dogs now since Paris Hilton and other such fuckwits stopped appearing with them as accessories.

So they ALL wheeze? I knew one that did that constantly, you wanted to kill it after living with it for 5 minutes.

you can get a relatively cheap surgery for pugs where they go in an clip out some of the soft palate; it eliminates the snarfing almost entirely
we did it on our pug when he was about 3 months, and he hasn't had a sinus problem since
if we ever get another boston terrier or any type of bulldog we will do the same with those as a snarfing, snorting dog next to your head at 2 a.m. reall sucks

These are great dogs, I know a breeder. They will bark a lot at people that show up, but they're smart they'll generally shut up when told. They will also herd children. This breeder is a friend of my mom's, and when we were kids, they'd put us down in one area and the dogs would keep us confined.

Pulis are neat, especially if you don't cord their fur

Some small terrier breeds would be acceptable, such as the fox terrier or jack russell. They tend to be hyperactive, though.

The coolest-looking, though, are dogs that look like miniature nordic breeds, such as the shiba inu and the skipperke. Those breeds tend to have "big dog" personality in little dog packages.

Also, consider the basenji or the telomian. They are very quiet, shed very little, and are laid back. They're great if you want an apartment dog.
