What would it be like if humans had a predator?
>> Anonymous
We do.
Anything can basically just attack us. Pumas, large dogs, there's a place in some country that no body cares about that tigers regularly prey on humans.

We just kill them.

Wasn't there a lion pride in Africa that was responsible for over a hundred human deaths?

ITS BOAT TIME!!!!!

no, they don't, they usually leave humans alone unless they're too old or sick to catch their natural prey. humans in a combination of awe over how fucking awesome tigers are and how well they can kill caused them to extinct the fuck out of most of em with guns on top of elephants. we've got a huge upper hand of being far more intelligent and also cheating assholes.

Hell, there are *individual* animals responsible for more than that...

There was a pride of lions that killed one HELL of a lot of people, though. I think the estimated total was around 1000-1500 over the course of a good decade and a half.

There's a man eatin' Croc in Africa responsible for over a hundred deaths. They made a movie about it called Primeval.

In some part of India there's a section of forest or jungle or something where man-eating tigers live. Every year many skinny Indians get killed by the tigers who even go as far as swimming over to the guys just to kill them. They only go near that area to fish, otherwise it's just tiger territory.

It depends on how effective and widespread this predator would be naturally. One killing machine versus a small dedicated /k/ommando unit isn't going to last long.

It would have an ugly ass face, and a cloaking device, and it would collect our skulls and spines.

It just seems like an interesting topic to me if there was actually a species of animal that would hunt us naturally (not mosquitoes) for feeding.

maybe.

Any animal that ever tried to hunt us on a wide-spread scale would find itself driven to extinction a few thousand years ago. As soon as we started crafting metal to make weapons. Plenty of animals have tried and still do but most of the time any animal that kills a human is itself killed soon after. If more of them try it then they find that large portions of their population are quickly exterminated. Unless some kind of alien that was immune to most human weapons started preying on us it just wouldn't happen.

there are predators, other humans. but we catch them
>> Swallow It
We do they are called sharks. When we go into there element we are the prey.

Which is why most people avoid the oceans and thousands die from shark attacks every year, right?

I think the OP meant a predator that actively hunts and preys on humans, not one that occasionally mistakes one for a seal.

I once heard that polar bears are the only animal that actively hunts humans. I don't know how accurate that statement is as I did not do any research to back it up.

Lions, tigers, pumas, bears, crocodiles, hyenas, Anacondas, Pythons... All of these will happily hunt, kill, and eat humans.

They still do in some shitty parts of the world (LOLAFRICA)

The only thing is that man is equipped with greater intelligence and greater weapons, and thus is able to kill animals far more effectively than animals can kill him.

If we really wanted to, we could easily wipe out all of these species - some of them in perhaps only a matter of weeks.

Humans do have predators today, but we are so weak, incapable of true survival, we require firearms just to defend ourselves.

>>137333
I've read that Polarbears, Saltwater Crocadiles (some species in Australia, I THINK), and a species of Ant are the only known animals that will after humans as prey without special provocation or starvation, ect.

true survival? im sorry last time i checked we do MORE than survive, we fucking thrive, what the hell is "true" survival supposed to mean? you survive but you have to be nonsentient, fuck that, our key to survival is our sentience. Fuck you my kind sir.
