About two weeks ago i made a post here, about my dog sparky. He had just gone to the vets for a bout with pancreatic failure, he didn't make it unfortunately.

So i have been thinking of re homing a new dog, maybe from battersea dogs home. Not to sure what breed to get, sparky was a patterdale terrier, playful and intelligent. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't adopt a dog specifically on breed...

Heres what i would do:
Visit a few local shelters. Look at all the dogs. This way you can see their personality and breed as a whole, not as two dismembered parts.
Many shelters will let you walk a dog so you could get to know it better.
Make frequent visits. Get to know the dogs better so you can pick out the individual that best suits you.

Going by breed doesn't always determine the dog. I have two goldens, and they couldn't be more different in personality and temperment.

I agree with the above post, and would like to add that Patterdales are working terriers and tend to be quite energetic, tough little customers. I've heard people say that they are like a Jack Russell times two.

Great dogs, but not for everyone. I'm not sure I'd want to tackle life with one, myself.
