Hey /an/,

My two year old rabbit has been acting strange lately, and I'm not sure if it's just a new habit or of there is something wrong. He tends to do this weird jump where he twists his back legs around - almost as if he's trying to get something off his back leg. He'll do about five of these, then continue on normally for the rest of the day.

Normal. I don't know why they do it either though. I've heard that in the wild, rabbits tend to follow in set paths, and such jumps are a way to avoid predators who seek them by smell, since with that jump they could land pretty far away. Male, right? Females never do that.

Sometimes they jump like that as a sign of happiness. My rabbits do it too. Check rabbit.org its got a lot of useful info.

I agree with the others, normal bunny weirdness.

Weird ass bunnies.

Yeah, my rabbit used to do that all the time. Does he shake his head too? And just generally flip out? I think they call it "popcorning."

It is called a "binky" and it means that he is pleased.

Excellent. Thanks everyone!

My bunnies always did that when they were happy. Is it spring time?

Popcorning is a guinea pig term.
