What I've heard from both customers and employees alike is that customer service is nonexistent, animal care is minimal at best and terrible and negligent otherwise, managers don't give two shits about anything other than themselves ... and more recently, in a different thread, that the employees don't know shit about anything.
But I suspect like PetSmart, which I work at, it truly goes on a store-by-store basis. I've never worked at a PetCo, not that I would, but if I were to do so, I'd do the best I could.
And please, for the love of whatever's holy, if you see animal abuse or neglect, find a higher-up to tell about it. If they don't listen, find the next-higher higher-up. And so on, until the problem is addressed and solved. Please.
