Thinking smaller, though I do love Great Danes.

Couldn't a Mutt be either highly active or minorly? My childhood dog was a mutt and was constantly active (though she was also an outdoors dog)

Very good. It totally depends on the mix, although generally the offspring will have less drive than either parent. My dog is a border collie/lab/pit mix and he's got the psycotic border energy and the stenght of a pit... anywho he needs a good 3 hours in the dog park every day or else he's a terror at night. A total sweetheart though :3 juts a lot of energy...

...I digress. When adopting mix consider the characteristics of each parent, and the pup should be somewhere in between.

rescue grey hounds are good house dogs.

Surely greyhounds and whippets would need a fair bit of exercise though, which is at odds with a "minorly active" owner who wants an "indoors dog".

Any other advice?

Seriously, smartest thing I've read all night here on ole' 4chan. Get a corgi. Great dogs. Only downside is the shedding. Just vacuum

You'd be surprised. Racing greyhounds, once theyre past competition age, are pretty lazy fuckers. So long as theres company, theyre quite happy to lie around all day.

I have a beagle, and they're odd dogs. When she's inside, she sleeps like a coma patient. But when she gets outside, she's a psycho ball of energy.

Corgis are high energy... go find the corgi thread. Retired greyhounds are hailed for being couch potatoes. Look it up.
