Greetings /an/

I'm just wondering if a cat can live off only raw fish? Or does it need some extra stuff that's in normal cat food?

After a fishing trip where it only ate fish for a week, it now refuses to eat the normal cat food it used to eat before, but raw fish is cheap here and I love fishing so if it wants to eat fish and it gives enough minerals etc it's not a problem.

Pic semi-related (not my cat)

Keep trying to mix foods, but as long as you get the fish from a reliable source (de-boned would be good too), then your cat will be fine

The nutriants are in the bones. Marrow is good for the cat. Give it a fish and let it have at it for a few hours. Raw bones don't splinter, cooked bones do.

ITS A FUCKING CAT ITLL KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT

Just watch out for toxins. Especially in lake fish look up your local Department of Fish and Wildlife website and make sure that the fish you're feeding kitteh aren't high in mercury and other harmful substances.

But it's true, of all carnivores (animals in the family of carnivora) cats are the most specially designed to eat only meat, they just don't have enough digestive tract to break down much else.

Maybe call your local vet and see if they can give you any nutrition advice or tips.
