an moth?
>>183864An butterfly.
>>183810>>183812>>183828I didn't know such beautiful moths existed.
>>183877Yeah, it's probably because you grew up thinking "moths are ugly, butterflies are pretty." Honestly, I don't see why that stereotype exists. Back in school we did one of those hatch a luna moth things, and that's what made me realize that moths were more than the dusty white things you see at night
>>183864Yeah, look at the antennae. Moths generally (can't think of any exceptions) have featherlike ones.
>>183898Well, some in this thread, for example, have pretty thin antennae, but using hints like antennae, body shape, wing position, and if they have fur or not
well i mean in the US there really aren't that many different types of moths, most of the species we were exposed to were the ugly grey ones that swarm around your porch light
>>183865figures. oh well..
>>183897No actually, butterflies always weirded me out. It's just that the only moths i've ever seen in my life have been grey and brown.
>>183995You just need to get out in to the woods more often. Many of the moths in this thread can be found in the US.
>>183814I want to pet it so bad.
>>184043Enjoy your searing pain from it's stinger.>Lynette, if your in an area to see one be careful of the larvae. I brushed up against one of these 6 years ago while picking a pear out of my pear tree and was stung. I would have swore someone cut off my finger and was pouring boiling water into it. The pain was unbelievable and the finger immediately began to swell. We scooted 3 of the catepillars off the tree with a leaf and put them in a ziplock bag. The five mile drive to the emergency room was terrifying. The pain like a thermometer moved it's way up my arm toward my heart. As we entered the emergency room I began to feel the pain in my chest and was rushed to a bed. Within minutes I began to have a metal taste in my mouth as I went unconscious. No one knew what they were. It took the head of the emergency room leaving to look it up on the internet. (My husband told me later they used a paper plate and made what looked like a circus tent over the bag with a little sign... "Can you name the animal?") I'm 5 foot tall and was 115 pounds at the time. The entire event took less than 15 minutes until I went unconscious. My hand remained swollen for about a week. With a punch like that, I don't think I'd touch the moth either. I'm terrified of them. It's no wonder they also call them the "ASP" caterpillar in Texas. I was stung in Maryland.
>>183832I love raising these from their big fuzzy caterpillars. :3
>>184067oooh. Asps are horrible. South Texas has their fair share. >_>
>>183814must feel fabulous on your hands. maybe even ticklish on your penis!!
