OP here, Laws vary broadly depending on where you are located. In the USA and Canada the Breed Specific Legislation Law is regulated by state and province respectively. In Australia I believe it is regulated on a municipal matter. Not sure how the UK works though.
As crazy as it sounds, I've heard of cases where dogs are put to sleep just because "it looks like a Pit bull"
It's sad how nobody cares about it because Pit bulls tend to have an intimidating look, although they're amazing if trained properly, but when you do anything to an animal that looks "cute and puffy" everybody rages.
List of places where Pit bull is banned
Ontario, Canada Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Australia France Norway Iceland Singapore United Kingdom Denmark New Zealand The Netherlands (will be canceled by the end of this year =] ) Serbia Italy
In the USA : Livingston County, Michigan Delta, Utah Independence, Missouri Overland Park, Kansas Springville, Utah Miami-Dade County, Florida Council Bluffs, Iowa Royal City, Washington Denver, Colorado Prince George's County, Maryland Springfield, Missouri Oklahoma (Proposed) Shelbyville, Tennessee (Proposed) Aurora, Colorado (Proposed) Youngstown, Ohio Richland, Washington (Proposed) Tupelo, Mississippi (Proposed) Parker, Colorado (Proposed) Chicago, Illinois (Proposed) Enumclaw, Washington Sparta, Tennessee Melvindale, Michigan Union County, Kentucky Garfield Heights, Ohio - 60 days in jail and or $1,000 fine if owner does not comply with city law. (oh wow)
