So it's 2 AM and there are birds chirping outside my window. This has been happening for about 2 weeks. It sounds like more than one kind of bird. I live in northern Kentucky (lol hick). Can some ornithologyfag tell me what the fuck is going on? Seriously, wtf is this shit?

Do you have any outdoor security lights that might cause these birds to think its dawn?

Either that or they're being harassed by a predator. Do you have an outdoors cat?

I think those birds are just plain stupid. I had one or two birds like this here, too, and we don't live in the same continent.
It'll stop after a while.

some species of birds sing all through the night, even if they're not nocturnal. one example of this (which may be your culprit) is the northern mockingbird. a telltale sign to tell if it's a mockingbird is to count the number of consecutive times it sings one type of song; mockingbirds sing them five times in a row before changing songs, i believe. i think bobwhites sing at night sometimes too (it would sound like it was saying "bob, bob-WHITE!"), or it may just be a nocturnal bird like a whip-poor-will or chuck-wills-widow. i don't really know kentucky birds so i dunno if these occur in your area although i'm pretty sure they do.

sounds like its mocking birds, they can make pretty cooll calls though, since they imitate what ever they hear. the ones in my back yard have a pretty good car alarm call down
i sleep with the window open and ya, they like to sing early morning and all day(i.e. 4am till 8pm)

It's not unusual for birds to sing all throughout the night, particularly younger ones that have just found a mate (they're really fucking excited). With increasing urban sprawl, birds have changed their habits a lot. I even read that city birds are less likely to be monogamous (sp?).
