I'm interested in haivng a pet praying mantis. What do I do to take care of it (food, water, etc.)? Halp me /an/

Try to get a nymph.
feed it pinhead crickets/aphids/fruit flies until it's large enough to take larger prey, and mist it's cage once every other day so it can drink (or alternatively, when it's used to you, you can just take it out and let it drink droplets from your fingers or sink or whatever.)

They generally moult once every 2 weeks, with the final moult taking a little bit longer than that, so getting a nymph means you get a longer lasting pet!

As for enclosure, you don't need anything fancy, just some branches/whatever to climb on, and almost any substrate, so long as it doesn't hold too much moisture- you don't want moulds and stuff growing in there. You would do well with simple astroturf.

This, also do research on what's legal to be domestically owned in your area. Some species of mantids are endangered or shouldn't be raised/bred outside of their usual migratory patterns.
