I've been allergic to animals all my life cuz I'm allergic to animal dander...

But I want a pet dog or cat badly, so are there any hypoallergenic housepets out there that are nice and affordable?

Pic very related (native american indian dog).

Get a chinchilla instead.
100% Allergy free.

There are lots of dogs that are good for people with allergies, like poodles and many poodle mixes. Not sure if there are allergy safe cats though, except maybe hairless ones.

Hairless cats produce more dander than non hairless cats. There's no fur to trap it, and you have to bathe them regularly. I don't know if anybody here has ever tried to bathe a cat, but it usually involves blood loss.
Try a bunny.

If you start when they are kittens you can train them not to struggle too much in a bath

Nice, I'll probably get a chinchilla and buy a labradoodle in the future when I get enough money :)

you can get an allergy cocktail in a shot that reduces your reaction over some months. I had a lot of allergies when I was younger, and both my mom and I got shots for pets/dust/mold/pollen and 10 years later i only rarely get reactions, and that's usually from food. if insurance covers it, i would absolutely recommend it. makes your life so much less miserable.

You could try adopting a rabbit unless you're stuck on a cat or dog. Many people who are allergic to cats and dogs do not have allergies to bunnies. I believe it cost me about $80 when I adopted my two rabbits a few years ago from the HRS.

Rescue a labradoodle!! Like every breed of dog in existence today, plenty of labradoodles end up in the barrel behind animal control due to ignorant, lazy or just cruel owners.

This organization has 5 labradoodles that need homes right now:
http://www.poomixrescue.com/
The dogs are located all over, they work on placing rescues from other shelters.

They also help with arranging transportation for your dog if you are not near the dog you want.
Please consider rescuing your dog, they do make the best pets. Plus of course you don't pay for a dog.

Siberian cats are the only cat breed I know to be truly hypoallergenic, although there have been news of scientists trying to artificially produce hypoallergenic cats through genetic engineering.

They're attempting to replace the enzyme in their saliva that causes allergies with a similar human enzyme, if I recall. Problem is, we don't know what that enzyme does for the cat.

Most hair dogs (terriers and stuff) are good for people allergic because it's hair, not fur. The only problem is, because they don't shed, their hair just GROWS and so it has to be cut every few months. It works for allergies, though (that's why they keep making those ugly poodle cross-breeds because poodles are hair dogs).

I'm very alergic to cats, but I have a rabbit. Rabbits are like cats in that they can use a litterbox, are independent, and groom a lot. Unlike cats, they are a prey animal, so you must approach them a different way. If you were to get a rabbit, do a lot of research first. The worst thing about rabbits is the bun-proofing that you have to do. They have to chew on things to keep their teeth filed down. Wire and books are prime bait.

I love my rabbit. She is a sweetheart, but figuring out how to bun proof is the biggest challenge.

Some rabbits take awhile to warm up to people. Luckily, mine was well socialized.

OBJECTION!! Every pet is a possible allergy bringer to those who already suffer from it. No use of getting a pet just because some people say that it doesn´t cause allergy. Buy one of those reeeaally expensive cats that don't have the allergenes at all once they come for sale~

And since it's going to take quite some time now, why don't you get a lizard or an aquarium for example. Fishes are pretty and lizards and snakes interesting~ Wouldn't it be cool to have a giant python as pet xD
