I've never posted in /an/ before or even lurked that much, so forgive me for any noobishness.

Today I was walking around in my backyard with a flashlight, and I noticed this huge friggin' spiderweb. The web was easily 10 times bigger than me, and it was connected to a tree, our garage, a hammock, the ground, and probably a million other things as well. I've never seen a web this big. The spider wasn't that large, but it was kinda yellow and obviously bigger than your average house spider.

The web is really pretty. Is there any way of identifying what kind of spider this is based on what I've said?

I'll post a few more photos in a sec.

Ugh, I hate spiders. I've had a fucker just like this in my side yard for week now. It stormed real bad here and it's web got all fucked up so I took this video of it rebuilding it and speed it up a little for effect.

I wish I knew a good way of getting rid of spiders that I could use in an apartment full of cats without killing everything. Really I'd rather not even fucking kill them but if they insist on being all over the place in here it's them or me since I cannot fucking coexist with things that creep the shit out of me.

Garden Orb We Spider by the shape of it.

I'm most probably right if you live in Australia, but in some other country, might be something else.

You have an apartment full of cats. If you have any sort of pest problem, your cats are broken.

Cats chase bugs that run around, or fly (usually unsuccessfully in that case), but spiders? If I had fucking tarantulas, sure, they'd be all over that shit, but tiny little fuckers that aren't running all over the place? Completely ignored.

thats true. no self respecting cat would allow spiders

Take a picture during the day without using a flash. There's no way to tell anything about this spider from the pictures, other than that it's an orb weaver.

Great advice!
>> Swallow It
As long as its not in your way leave it alone. if it is in your way tear it down the spider will rebuild it elsewhere.

Don't do anything to ruin that web if you don't have to. It's a work of art.
