Nevermind, just figured it out.

Its a baby black racer. Apparently they start out patterned like that, and get dark as they age.

That is a young round eye rattlesnake, be very careful! It will bite you in the goddamn face and you will pass out and>>167493will find you and rape you. Do you want to be raped? I didn't think so. Leave the snake alone, it will only end in sadness for your ass.

this anon is right. it's a baby black racer. we caught one in our front yard in florida..it was also a baby. didn't know about the coloration change until after we caught it. they are picky eaters though...we tried a tiny pinky mouse, we brained it, then tried crickets. after a couple days of not eating anything, we let it loose so it could do it's thing.

No it shouldn't. That's fucking retarded

Well, for one thing, snakes should never eat crickets...They can't digest the exo-skeleton. :<

Name the snake Buttsecks.

It is the deadly king cobra. Hide your valuables.

huh..didn't even know that. i figured they could or it would pass since i've heard of feeding small snakes crickets on several occasions. i guess you learn something everyday.

have any links with more info? no offense, but having only heard it from one person on 4chan vs several people on a forum about ..well arachnids, but there is a section for creatures with spines, and plenty of people that keep spiders also keep snakes.

I know it is at least true for corn snakes, but I'm pretty sure that, by default, that goes for all snakes as well.

This one's about ball pythons...

Corn Snakes

www.kingsnake.com May provide more "reliable" insight.

Try www.cornsnakes.com, too. They give information on other species, too.

I think green snakes are able to digest them...but most other snakes--at least common pet snakes-- to my knowledge, are not. Or, at least, it could harm them to try to digest them. Generally, it's not a great idea unless you know the species and it's diet well.

thanks for posting some links. i must say i only whole heartedly go with one post of the few.

the person that posted last on the ball python thread seemed (though not necessarily true) to know what was up. they didn't offer anything to back their claim though. no offense again..just like your post. so far i have only read they can't digest the exoskeleton. i can believe that, but not sure if i should quite yet. i've heard of several knowledgeable people feeding small snakes with crickets.

the lady that posts the first answer in the corn snake thread is flat out wrong in the first paragraph. snakes DO eat insects. might not be their choice, but in a world of eat or be eaten or die...they will eat a large variety of prey. other than that, her post seemed fairly solid.

i only have one snake left myself. sold the others. going into the navy, so i can't really keep anything. i have an anery corn that i kept because it was so docile..never tried to bite anyone ever. need to find someone that is responsible to take it from me soon. :(

Yeah, SOME snakes DO eat insects. But for others, it's not good for them, and they could become impacted. Feel free to research it more deeply. As I said, I've only really had corn snakes as pets, but I know that crickets are not good for them. I've heard the same for a few others. Again, I don't really know all of the species for which feeding crickets is healthy/natural.
