Because tame doesn't equal domesticated?

Dogs took thousands of years...

dogs have evolved alongside humans, and have a lessened fight/flight response in comparison to wild predators. This is not true for cougars, or wolves, or bears, or foxes, or whatever animals people seem to think they can "tame."

that's why we never hear of dogs mauling children, joggers or elderly people in the news eh?
Doesn't make much difference if you ask me.

Cats are cats. Normal-sized house cats aren't really any tamer... They're just smaller, and when they attack you it isn't as bad.

Yeah, I imagine a cougar giving you an angry swat is going to hurt a tad more than if you Maincoon does it. (or however the fuck you spell it)

Actually, there is a domesticated breed of fox created by scientists in Russia through selective breeding. They're just not available anywhere else. Right now they are apparently trying to domesticate (wild) rats the same way.

I wish my cat were this affectionate.

I think I heard that you can't get a cougar to be completely house trained either.

That's pretty fucking cute.

One of these days they'll identify the genes and mutations crucial to domestication and just use genetic manipulation to turn a wild animal into a tame housepet. Until then, enjoy your stitches.

I lived with "tame" cats and yet my maincoon still tore the shit out of me on a regular basis. The little bitch liked to steal my computer chair as soon as I got up. Then she'd dig her hind paws into the cushion when I tried to lift her, and dig her front claws and teeth into my hand. Mean little bitch but I loved her anyway.
