aquatic plants 6kj56j
anyone know how to grow your own water plants for your fish tank after youve purchased a full plant?

Could you be more specific? There are hundreds of different aquatic plants commonly available with widely varying needs. There are many good books about planted aquaria that would help you.

Speaking of aquatic plants, what does /an/ think about self-sustained aquariums?

my 55g tank is full of plants, and has about 30 cardinal tetras and a dozen or so other small fish, plus about 500 cherry shrimp. The only things I do are feed the fish and fertilize the plants a little (iron mostly for leaves turning yellow) I have a 240W CF fixture over the tank and a powerhead for circulation..that is all...running for 3 years now

If the conditions are good enough, your plants will grow like mad.
Light and fertilizer and maybe CO2 work wonders.
Some plants can be simply cut and planted again.
Others need to be divided at the root.
Depends, but the simple plants can just be "cloned" by cutting them.
