I know you think they are cute right now, but pot belly pigs will grow large over time. While they won't grow as big as the pigs bred for meat, they WILL grow larger than the biggest dogs, and they WILL weigh around 300lbs. Their shit stinks as badly, if not worse, than a human's, and while they can be trained to shit outside or use a litterbox, you won't find it pleasant.

They aren't cute, they aren't little, and they're certainly not worth the trouble if you do not own a large property.

Adult ones, of course.

Just by looking at this individual - how large do you think this one is? German Shepherd? Great Dane? Just because it appears to be shorter, doesn't mean the body size is smaller, or that it weighs lighter.

okay um. considering i've played with my friend's adult male pot bellied pig, i'd say they're about as tall as a smaller medium sized dog. definatly not as tall as a german shepard. prehaps you should actually see the animals in real life? the females they had were even smaller. seriously, they probably came up to my mid calf and im 5'9.

also, considering i could pick the fuckers up with some degree of effort, 300lbs is pushing it just a tiny tad bit.

I'm going to tell you something horrible here: potbellied pigs are what one would call a "breed type", not a "breed". There is very little standards between the pigs. The pig you get may well be a 300lb porker, while there are some hideously tiny individuals scattered somewhere.

They are also rife with all sorts of maladies and tumours.

I hear pigs are pretty difficult pets. This lady seems to agree; http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/potbelliedpigs/a/pbpexpect.htm
