At the beginning of September my cat (pictured, but not a recent photo) somehow injured his front paw, swelling up and there was a scab. Took him to the vet and was given anti-inflammatory pills and a cream to rub on his paw. It took several weeks to heal and even now his paw is slightly bigger than the others. Then last week I noticed he had blood on his mouth, all swollen and infected. Took him to the vet again, and it turned out he managed to put his front fang through his lip. So we got some liquid antibiotics to give him twice a day. A week goes by and it looks like its getting better. Then all of a sudden today hes got a huge bump swollen under his chin like a tumor or abscess. Took him to the vet AGAIN and they said hes allergic to the antibiotics or his immune system is turning on him and he may have to get steroid shots :( and for now he gets more anti inflammatories and a different type of antibiotic to finish clearing up the infection.

Has anyone had anything similar happen? If so, how was it solved?

Also, hes 9 years old and I got him last year from Petcetera. All his ailments make me sound like a terrible owner, but hes treated with great love and care. Any advice would be appreciated.

You don't sound like a terrible owner.. Cats do stupid shit sometimes..
Once my cat stuck her claw through her lip and I had to pull it out for her.. It didn't get infected, though..

THIS is what probably sounds like a terrible owner: I've NEVER taken my cats to vets when something like that happens. Cats are really really good at keeping their wounds clean and they usually heal nicely.
I did make a hydrogen peroxide/water mix in a spray bottle (to get it past the dense fur) for a huge swollen infected knot on my cat's tail. It went down and he's fine now.

Two of my cats have come home on different occasions with a flap of skin torn off, and they also healed completely and are undetectable. Except I think I did put neosporin on one once a day..

I only take them to the vet if they get really ill somehow - meaning they don't move for a couple days, refuse food/water, etc.

i had a white cat named Yoda who would get an abnormal growth directly behind the front of his lower jaw. it would swell up and get hard for a bit and then go down after about a week or so. come to find out, he was eating waterbugs in the back yard and he was slightly allergic to them. go figure.

You let him outside, don't you? He's finding bees and black widows and shit...
