Hey /an/, I need some help, if you can.

My dog is limping. He won't put any weight at all on his back right leg and doesn't want to stand up (although he doesn't seem lethargic otherwise, I just think it hurts him to get up).
He's almost 7 years old and he's a purebred German Shepard, and he has arthritis and hip displasia (he was a rescue dog and probably a puppy mill puppy, thus the fucking terrible health which is notorious in GSDs anyway). I've massaged his leg and hips and he doesn't seem to be in too much pain - he doesn't yelp or try to pull away - but he shakes really bad.

He has a vet appointment for tommorow, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what it might be or any tips to make him feel more comfortable.

Thanks!
Pic related, it's him.

I <3 GSDs.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you're doing the right thing. Keep him company so he remains calm and content, and make sure he's comfortable, and water/food is within easy reach so he doesn't have to get up.

are there any foods that can help calm him down? He keeps whimpering and biting at his foot (something he does when he's nervous). I heard giving dogs ginger snaps helps soothe them, is that true?

Right now my other 2 dogs are separated from him just in case they decide to jump on him or something (they're both younger and way more energetic than him). He seems pretty distressed about the whole situation.
