Degu Anonymous
So how is it to have a Degu as a pet? Ive considered, when all my dwarfhamsters are dead and gone, i would buy a pair of gerbils. But then this sligthly larger lookin gerbil caught my eye.
And i wondered how they where as a pet, or they "petting pets" or pets to look at? Do they need a lot of attention? Expensive pet to have? Age? etc.
It will at least be a year before i buy myself a new pet so this was just an idea i had.

If you take them out every day they really warm up to you. But don't think this animal will be okay with visitors petting him.

>Do they need a lot of attention?
Not much, maybe five minutes or so a day should be good.

>Expensive pet to have?
About the same as hampsters.

>Age?
they can live suprisingly long, around 8 years.

OP here: Thank you very much! Though their max age is a bit of a turnoff... But still worth considering

I have a friend who owns many degus. I'd recommend getting at least two or three of them as they are very social pets. My friend told me they'd cry and cry if they had no other cagemates until you picked them up.
Otherwise they're really adorable. I love 'em!

Oh man, I just moved into my dorm and I doubt I could harbor one of these little cuties from my RA for very long. Damn.

OP again
It will probably be a long time before i consider buying Degu's even though they look adorable, and probably fun to have.
But i already have three 1 year old hamsters, and three guinea pigs with at least 6 six years left in them. I already have enough to take care of
