- personally I'd go for lots and lots of neon tetras and a few discus for a plant aquarium, they're pretty and they don't hurt the plants. plus a bunch flying fox siamesis to keep the plants clean from algae.
- get a fertilizer and a few fast growing plants to make sure the algae doesn't get the upper hand + anything you find pretty
- get a pump that pumps 2-3 times the content of your tank per hour, that should be enough and it won't bother most fish. Bettas are happy whatever you do to them. you could chop it up, fry the pieces, stitch them back together in the wrong order and it'll still be happy as a clam (however happy they are). don't worry about the bettas.
- never have metal objects in your tank, it's harmful for your fish and plants. make sure the items you put in there are free of unidentified chemicals (or.. all chemicals) and Anything water soluble, glass is fine as long as it's properly cleaned (cleaned with water, nothing else).
I can't see the pic, what fish is it?
