Bah. Even Maine Coons are bigger than that, and they are more robust. If the cat doesn't weigh at least 30 kg (lean weight, not fat) it's not big enough.

If someone domesticated the lynx, that would be just fine.

The literature says they make "very loyal pets" if raised from a cub. Not something you can have as a casual pet, though. You'd need some property, access to a vet who's willing to treat them, etc.

<-- if only they could survive in captivity :_(

It would be awesome if I had the space to build a little habitat for a few behind my house.

And it was legal.

You know, I'm actually not sure that I COULDN'T have this.... probably not, there's gotta be a law or something against having poisonous shellfish as a pet. I guess I'll just have to settle for piranhas...

except they can
"The Green Mandarin should NOT be kept in anything but a well established Reef tank (6 months or more) of NO LESS than 75 gallons WITH a refugium as it primarily feeds on copepods. Gobies may sometimes attempt to jump out. Prefer presence of substrate. The most colorful of commonly found fish for marine aquarium enthusiasts. Its appetite is not the easiest to satisfy. Commonly called dragonets, which are characterized by elongated bodies, without scales, and also by the presence of two dorsal fins. If purchasing a small specimen it is often easier to teach them to accept prepared foods with patience and work. Will fight with same sex in this species. Sadly, this fish normally dies as it is often purchased and kept in under established tanks without enough food to consume. Death from starvation normally occurs within six months."
>>209708
Do you mean octopus? Sure you can have it, but they require a special level of cair beyound simple enthusiast capability.

HAHAHAA YOU SUCK.

I've had one for 3 years, they live just fine lol. Once you have a tank with cultured live rock in it for 2=3 months they things they eat will spawn and you'll be all good.
>> Anonymous
>>209723

Prairie Dogs? I though people had them as pets. Wasn't there a TB or some other disease scare and they were the cause?
>> Anonymous
>>209746
Good for you, but you're in the slim minority of mandarin buyers. I work in a fish store, and your case is not typical at all. 2-3 months of live rock growth? Most sources say your lr should be at least 6 months, preferably a year in order for a stable copepod population to establish itself. Not trying to rip on you, but you definitly got lucky with that particular fish.

I have no clue... but many years ago while visiting France, I saw one for sale in a street pet market. I really wanted it but of course, yeah like that would fly well.
>> Anonymous
Parrots are the biggest assholes in the animal kingdom. Why do you people want them? Combination of semi-human intelligence, loud vocals and flight ability. Its terrible.

Hmm, well, I posted the red lory, and from my experience they're really funny little animals. Not really loud, very clowny, and if they're well adjusted, quite affectionate. The ones I got to take care of were pretty young and just beginning to try and mimic people. They'd hang from your fingers, craning those goofy long necks around and licking at your skin with their feathery-tipped tongues, mumbling little raspy words and begging to be scratched. So cute oh god oh god
