hello /an/
don't really lurk this board, but my sister's fish is looking pretty ragged and she's been too busy to do anything about it. i feel bad for it.
I got her this betta about a year ago, and I guess pretty recently it has this horrid white growth thing near its butt. Some sort of mold, perhaps? Any common betta afflictions you guys know of?
Any help appreciated, thanks. Pic related, tis quite blurry; was having trouble focusing on it.

Every 20 minutes, a fish gets infected with a preventable disease.

This is that fish.

i use to get my dad a beta every year for chirstmas. i don't think i've ever known a beta that lived for much longer than a year.... at least those that were gotten from petsmart and other such places. he could have fin rot or something similar.
i'd try what this anon said:>>329855

That's because idiots don't know how to take care of them and keep them in unheated bowls. You're lucky they lived that long. They should live at least 5 years, in an aquarium, with a heater set around 79F, and fed a variety of appropriate foods.
