Axolotl, an all aquatic salamander. Never looses the outer gills (as seen as the red things in the pictures). Grows quite big (30cm/1 foot) and eats most things it can fit in its mouth. Keep in room tempered water, not too warm. Regular waterchanges, it's a messy eater and leftovers will spoil the water.

The white version is the most common in shops, the natural color is dirt brown/grey. Can be bred by the enthusiast.

Yeah, you'll need a 50 gallons to keep them their full life span. And tbh, they're not fun at all. Just sitting still all day, barely moving to eat.

There used to be a 55 in the old house (kept pirahna, discus, and hamsters) so I know that would be too big for me

In this pic we can see another interesting thing, notice how one of them has no foot on its front leg. They can loose all limbs, and they will regrow, here the leg has grown back to a bit before the foot starts forming. They are true survivors, limbs will often get snapped by predators or rivals.

Until it tries to bite your finger of =)

Smaller salamanders, claw frogs och fire belly frogs might be an alternative?

lol Really I've been bitten by many pets though (had rabbits, cats, dogs) I was actually thinking of getting a fish Any type (fresh or salt) - but I'd like it to be small and yellow - Anyone know of something like that close to this color (not so neon like) I already know of Tangs

They are called Axalotyles or however it's spelt. I had one when i was a kid. I killed it too.

Bright yellow freshwater fish arent really common. Some breeding variants exists, like gold barb and platy. Those might be your best bet. Really hardy fish too. Albino strains (with similar coloring to the axolotl) exists of a bunch of fish though.

Gold and honey gouramis are bright yellow (honeys are, atleast. Golds have nice yellow markings) and they're fairly common, but like most/all gouramis, they can be aggressive.

Scratch the aggressive part for the honeys, they're actually shy (probably because they're dwarf gouramis)

Golden gouramis, yeah, forgot those. Wouldnt concider honeys the color he's looking for though

If you haven't had fish before, I highly suggest you go with freshwater. Salt is harder and extremely expensive. I have 2 clownfish in a 20gallon tank and the stuff ended up costing $350+

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?siteid=21&pCatId=864 check out this site. I wouldn't buy anything offline, but it gives good information for specific fish. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/index.htm gives info for everything, but they're kinda nazis about fish care (makes it seem like your fish will die from anything) but has lots of valuable information.

the first responder is correct, it is an axolotl, they are not very good pets though, they perfer cold temperatures so unless you plan on keeping your appartment 63 degrees all the time I'd recommend something else. (I used to own an axolotl and it died for precisely that reason, i couldnt keep my apartment cool enough.)

I always thought that the whole joke besides the expression on its face, is the fact that it's looking at its own reflection...?
