Sometime last night my koi's automatic feeder malfunctioned and got stuck in the upside-down-dumping-food-into-the-tank position. When I woke up, I cleaned out as much as I could, but apparently not soon enough... The fish is now having swim bladder problems and can't swim. (He was never very good at staying upright to begin with. He leaned to the right a lot.) Other than proping him up and hand feeding him peas, and short of poking him with a needle and doing mouth-to-swim-bladder-needle-hole, anyone have any suggestions?
lol. Do koi eat that much?
Overfeeding is the number one cause of koi death. The number two cause is getting so big it can't eat fast enough to live.
Travel back in time and feed the poor fish yourself instead of exposing him to a food dispensing DEATH MACHINE :(
I'd try to give him oxygen, cause that's what he might be lacking now (or more the bacteria in his intestines). So, maybe put an air pump + fish into a basin?!
I normally feed him myself, but these three days are wedged between two trips, and I got stupid and lazy :(
