halp me /an/
My dad just found this wounded bird outside our house, it's wing is completely broken.
In pity, we took it inside and made it cozy inside my hamsters old cage (hamster is dead), but I am afraid it won't last the night.
Also, no one in my family has the heart to either kill it or set it outside again...

Most likely it'll die of shock- birds are very fragile like that. Keep it somewhere warm (the airing cupboard works), or put it in the bathroom for a while when someone's showering/bathing - the steam will help calm it down and stop shock from setting in. Don't leave a dish of water- instead put something like lettuce or cucumber in the cage so that if it does dehydrate, it's got something there without the chance of accidentally drowning itself.

If it survives the night, take it to a vet in the morning.

okay, we've done half-right then. We haven't given it any water and it's currently in the warmest room, I'll suggest the bathroom thing to my parents as soon as I get off this damned computer.

Also, we are going to take it to a vet or something tomorrow. So.... I am happy we did something right.

Nice of you to help it, I hope it survives, and I hope you're ready to have a pet if the wing doesn't heal properly ;)

Have fun trying to find A) a veterinarian who will treat birds and B) one who will treat wild birds and C) still having to pay the bills when the bird dies from the treatment (as so many do when they are in such bad shape).

Good news everyone!
When we woke up today the bird had survived the night! It was also very cheeky and tried to bite us if we neared the cage, well. My dad took it out and apparently the wing wasn't broken after all, it was just a bit hurt from a cat scratching it, but it had healed over the night.
So, we took it out and it flew away.

Happy ending.
