Okay, I bought a Outback Wildlife Prehistoric Sea Monsters Kit. It was missing the shrimp, but shrimp aren't nearly as cool as the second pet included... triops. Now, I believe this kit is from 1998 and I used tap water instead of distilled or spring water. Have I totally blown all chances of these things living? And why did I have to clean the sand just to throw brown shit on it?

I shall. Thank you.

Wait, apparently the eggs keep for 20 years! Is there any chance they could have survived the tap water?

tap water = clorine its funny because its poisonous

My water comes from an aquifer, isn't that the same thing as a spring, but underground? Also, clorine isn't a word. Chlorine is, and according to pool test strips there is none in the tap water.

Hmm....no wonder I love distilled water.

The fluoride will probably be sufficient to do them in.

Didn't someone empty triops from something similar into his local pond, and they were taking over?

That was a troll, and the thread in which they posted debunked their story.

The thing is that triop eggs need to dry out to become fertile, so they could never "take over" a pond. Triops live in astatic pools, basically big puddles that form in the same place a lot, which is why their reproductive cycle is so short and their eggs last so long.

The more you know.

Only pansies drink distilled water

protip: bottled "mineral" water is just tap water with salt poured in it and it tastes like shit and has a funny after-taste.
