sup /an/.

this is my cat Shiloh. He's about 6 months old and the runt of his litter. I thought it was time to introduce you. He's a mean little shit but he's fucking awesome.

I can't exactly explain why, he just has an air of awesome. Maybe it's his eyepatch? I don't know.

Today I come with a question, /an/.

Shiloh smells. Badly, I might add. What would be the easiest, most pain free way to bathe him?

Well I'd like not to get torn into shreds, but if you have advice for keeping him happy for a bath as well, I'd be happy to hear it. He's not oily, in fact, he's very soft, so I don't want to throw dishsoap on him or anything. I've got some shampoo, some dial, and some softsoap, but I don't know what might hurt his skin.

Now my lump of an awesome yet mean cat has departed my lap, maybe I can offer some help to you.

While you ask a good question, it's not the right question. What you need to be asking is *why* your cat smells terrible. Ordinarily, you don't need to bathe your cat at all (unless they've done something stupid like walked through wet concrete); when a cat begins to smell rank it could be symptomatic of a larger problem.

Eg. your cat isn't cleaning itself properly for some reason, your cats anal glands may have become clogged and need to be expressed, your cat might have a urinary tract infection, or some other infection (skin, oral, etc).

What you need to do is try to locate the source of the odor (my cat has an odor isn't quite good enough), and from there take Shiloh to a vet for further analysis of the problem/s.

If he's an outdoor cat he may have gotten into something rotten or very very dead.

I'm lucky enough to have a bathub with doors, I have to stand in there while I give my cats a bath and keep the doors shut so they don't get out.. But they're alot less worked up when they have no means of escape : )

Your dad must have accidentally killed him and buried him at the Pet Sematary. Shiloh is now a walking abomination, a mockery of all things that have true life, hence the foul odor. You must destroy him at all costs.

He is partially an outdoor cat, which does explain the smell

It isn't a foul odor, just a strongly unpleasant one when he's in your face givin' you lovin's. And we'll not even go into Cat Breath. The smell is akin to Dog, which is what cats should not smell like in my experience

Ironically, the name we'd picked out for him first was "Church" after that cat.

has shiloh been neutered? if not, that may explain the smell. young male cats often have an unpleasant odor (reminiscent of old urine) before they are altered. take him to the vet.
he's very handsome.

Also, arm&hammer your rug, it can linger there. Won't hurt to clean the couch either.

OP, you can go to your local pet store and look for Lambert Kay cologne drops (as found here: http://www.amazon.com/Lambert-Kay-Cologne-0-5-oz-bottle/dp/B0006U7T30). They come in two scents, baby powder and "tropical," whatever that means. I prefer the tropical one, as it doesn't reek of the flea collar scent that I hate. You just put one drop of scent near the back of his hear (as close to where his skull meets his spine as possible) and he will smell good for about a week.

Granted, follow advice here and try to find out WHY he smells. If you go to your vet and your vet tells you that he's just a smelly boy, then use the drops. They've worked wonders, even on smelly ferrets.

By "back of his hear" I mean "back of his head"

Thanks for the insightful comment! In exchange for your highly intellectual and helpful remark, allow me to make a recommendation for you: next time you feel the need to post, don't. Faggot.

My cousin works at PetCo. I'll see if she can find something for me, as I'm sure she wouldn't be willing to part with her waterless cat bath.

Thanks for the help, anons. I'll do my best to post more pictures for those interested tomorrow. I want to get some shots of him and this little fish toy he's attached to.

also, yes, he has just been recently neutered, which is what that bell-shaped tag is on his neck.

Thanks for the compliment! I'll give him extra hugs from anon
