Hey, /an/,

My dog got diagnosed today with severe congenital hip dysplasia and she's only a year and 3 months old...

What do I do about it? She's losing mobility fast.. I can't afford hip replacement surgery.

Pic related, that's my boo.

I'm fully aware that this is my current situation...

I just love this dog so much, and it's destroying me to see this happen to her.

I'm in the same situation, I have a 3-year-old German Shepard/Malamute mix who has severe hip dysplasia. He can't even jump anymore. Unfortunately we also can't shell out the $5000 bucks for surgery.

Remove back legs, ask vet to replace with wheels.

Poor, worn out hip-fail dog -> cyborg dog

OP here

A wheelchair will one day become the apparent alternative. She's getting to the point where she's having trouble jumping and getting up the stairs, and the doctor said she's deteriorating muscle mass extremely quickly in her back legs.

This fucking kills me. They're sending her X-rays to Virginia Tech to have them analyzed and potentially find another solution for her. I hope all goes well. =\

Good luck, OP.
Remember that as long as you shower her with attention, she'll have a happy life. That's the most important thing.

I have a dog who would rather laze about and his favourite thing in the world is just to lie and have a cuddle.
