/an/, I'm having a serious problem with some of my cats that I see no other alternative now then putting a few down. Some won't stop pissing all over the place. It's getting really sick. They keep pissing on things they know will piss me off. I had a bag of muffins my mom baked for me and they pissed on them. I had shirt patterns cut out and they pissed on them. I leave mail on the counter and they piss on that. I'm sick of trying to curtail to such nasty creatures. Is there any way to get them to stop pissing on things, or do I have to take a couple in to put to sleep?
I can't stop them in the process because they do it when I'm not at home or when I'm asleep. Also, I don't treat any of them poorly. Also, they all come from the same mother.

just leave them at an animal shelter. Don't put them to sleep just cause they pee on stuff. Male cats tend to like to do that kinda stuff.

But really just take them to a shelter if you can't deal with it anymore, they don't deserve to die for something they don't understand.

Have they been spayed/neutered? Do you have enough CLEAN cat pans available?

*facepalm*
Tom cats piss all over to mark their teritory, a neutering would solve that. Females sometimes urinate in other places than usual when they're in heat.
By what you describe you seem to be handling horny male cats. Castrate them. Problem solved.
The only thing more retarded that you thinking of putting the cats down because of the pissing is the vet doing so because of this reason.

Spay and neuter.

If that doesn't work, keep them outside a lot more and let your backyard be their peeing territory.

If that doesn't work, grab them by the neck, rub their face in the pee and slap the shit out of them. They'll learn.

How many do you fucking have? Are they fixed? Since it sounds like you have a zillion, do you even have enough litter boxes? Have you even looked into cat training or discipline at all?

I can't fucking believe someone would think of putting an animal down as a solution to what's probably a result of poor training or error on their owner's behalf. You're either extremely stupid or a troll.

Hey guys, OP here. All my cats are female and come from the same mother (so they are all sisters). I have four litter boxes set up around the house, is that not enough? Also, they are all fixed and have been so since a little bit after they were born.
They don't go outside anymore since they kept getting worms, but it's been quite a few years since any of them have last gone outside.
And is there a reason they pee on things that they know I want or use?

Like magic, I see your problem, OP. You have a fucking lot of female cats. They are EXTREMELY fussy about their litter boxes. However many cats you have, you should clean their boxes that many times EVERY DAY. If you have five cats, you scoop for poop five times a day.

Also, the number of boxes. The best amount for cats is one box for each feline, plus one, all placed strategically around your house. Let's say you still have five cats. You need six litter boxes. Have seven? Need eight boxes.

If it seems like a lot of work, then cut down on your cat population, not your degree of care. Where I live there's a maximum of two anyway (when without a liscence). Two to four female cats can live together relatively peacefully by my experience. If you have more than four, DEFINITELY get rid of one/some. By get rid of, I mean put an advertisement for free cat in the newspaper or something, or take them to a shelter that will try their best to put them to homes. Killing them just because you don't like them is stupid.

The poster above me has already covered the technical end of things.

Why the cats seem to target things you want or use is odd. They do smell like you if you use them a lot. A lot of people think cats do that to "get back" at somebody for something--I don't know if cats think quite in that manner. They have memories, but I don't know if their memories are complicated enough to conceive of jealousy or spite.

OP if you seriously considered getting a cat put down because it is inconvenient to you I am very glad that it pissed on your muffins.

LETHAL INJECTION THAT FURRY LITTLE FUCK, DON'T LET IT FUCK WITH YOU LIKE THAT, BE LIKE BAM!!! DEATH IN A SYRINGE FOR YOU. PEACE OUT.

I'm sorry, but I had to laugh about the muffin pissing.

You should choose your two or three favorite cats and find a home for the rest. You'll have more time and money to focus on just a few than if you're taking care of a whole pack, and this could include any visits they might need to go to the vet for urinary tract infections or more expensive food.

My female cat recently passed away of old age, but all throughout her life she would piss on towels if they were left laying around. I think it's because her box used to be in the bathroom, so she started associating towels with the litter box, even when they weren't on the bathroom floor. And towels are a helluva lot more comfortable to stand on while pissing. Perhaps other cats have tracked piss over your precious things with their paws after leaving the litter box, and another cat mistook this as a cue that it's okay to piss there. So it's either a problem with too many cats and too much waste in the box, or once again, a medical issue.

in the short term what you can do is when you are out of the house have all the cats and their litter trays in the same large room with all the doors closed, preferably one with access outside via a cat flap.

Hopefully the cats will restrict their pissings to that room even when they have free reign of the house (thats not a garentee though) and they will make more use of the catflap to go outside more. If they go outside more they'll piss outside more.

take tehm to the vet! your cats might be sick! i had to deal with this before. they might have a bladder infection or bad kidneys.

We did this once. We had an alleycat we put down after the original owner left, because it would piss ON our dining-area wall at least once a day. The cat was also very prone to vomiting.

Yes, he was snipped.
