It's quite cold here tonight, and I'm wanting to let my rats wade around in some warm water (even though they're furry, so they're probably not too cold...)

I've got an aquarium, and I know they shouldn't get water in their eyes or ears, so if I let them wade around in an inch or two of water, would they manage to keep it out of those parts by themself? Or is it a bad idea to let them around water at all? I know I've seen videos on youtube with rats playing in a little water, but I want to be sure...

And I know it's not exactly the best way to warm them up, but it will also be fun.

you better have a hair dryer and a thick towel handy, otherwise what you have is a bunch of dead rats. if you don't understand why then get a fluffy sweater, drench it, and run around outside in winter... let's see how long you last after the warm water turns ice-cold.

p.s. rats can swim and protect their ears just fine but that's not the issue here

Some rats like water, some don't. You'll just have to find out.

But they will get cold, so dry them off.

Oh I know, I have a hairdryer ready. I was going to dry them off, I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't unknowingly dip their head underwater.
