This is Trevor. He emerged this afternoon from a cocoon I collected last Fall. His left wings have still not unfurled completely, and he cannot yet fly.

How long will this take?

Also, what kind of moth is it and what do they eat (I plan on releasing him as soon as his wings are complete)?

ah yes, that is the blur moth, of the genus and species blurrius blurricus.

Looks about right, thanks anon.

It's not so much the camera as it is the position. Next time wait for it to rest flat so you can get a good identifiable shot of the markings.

Damn, vestigial mouth, that sucks.

will do.

Yeah, that's the case with all Saturnids. It does make captive breeding a hell of a lot easier though.

Found one at our local Circle K at 5 in the morning. Was called up to drive down there and bring the effing camera. Pretty though, but clumsy.

What's really funny, is the massive squirt it takes shortly after emerging, I didn't expect a creamer-colored stream to suddenly eject from this thing's ass.

I'd have freaked, why would it do that?

i had a dream once that my house was being swarmed by GIANT MOTHS, like a couple feet of wingspan. it was the most awesome dream because i have always really liked bugs. hmm.

Look at its antannae, if the are wide and bushy, it's a male.
It could be possible that you disturbed it, so it suddenly released its semen. Moths sometimes do that shortly after emerging from their cocoons.

dude, I don't even shoot loads that big after fapping to Stoya Jacks, I somehow doubt that was semen.

Like I said, look at it's antennae.
Saturnids can't shit because they can't eat, so there's only this one possibility. (Don't tell me that it's a rest of the caterpillars shit, because the produce brown chunks, not creamy liquid.)

Example:

At 1:10 this Death's Head Moth also suddenly releases a gaiant load, but not too early, cause it wasn't disturbed.

Imagine yourself you could only fire one load in your entire life and you are incredibly horny (your balls have a dark blue colour), because 3/4 of your life are already wasted without any fapping or sex.

How huge would it be?

The excretions lepidoptera release after metamorphosis is waste accumulated during the process. You're either an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about and is full of wishful thinking or an idiot with the humor sense of a 9 year-old. Either way, give it up.

The meconium is red and doesn't resemble anything creamish. Quit being a dumbass.
It's well-known that just-emerged butterflies (especially Hawk-Moths) can release their semen when disturbed.

Giving up? You best be joking nigger, start realizing the truth.

There's no sense in arguing with someone who genuinely believes an insect that mates only once and dies soon after is going to release a disproportionately large "gaiant load" immediately after eclosing. Have you ever bred moths, or any lepidoptera in captivity? PROTIP: it doesn't involve the male spraying an intestine's worth of baby batter all over or the females leaking semen because they're so full.

Wow, I didn't know that you could troll /an/ with moth reproduction.

but, yeah, that isn't semen you dumbass.
