I'm getting the little beast declawed, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me.

You're essentially chopping off the first digit of their fingers

You'd hate for that to happen to you wouldnt you?

I've had quite a few cats and all were declawed standardly, but I've started to change my mind about ever declawing

<-- Besides Softpaws look cooler

Now, now. What's with the name-calling?

OP here

call me whatever you want, cats don't feel any pain

It's just a cat. People get so worked up over the littlest things.

Also, I disagree about how cool Soft Paws are. I'm sure they're useful for some, but I don't care for them. That's why Booki's getting declawed.

The cost of declawing the cat in the first place shouldn't be discounted, and especially not the rather high liklihood of complications and lasting health problems (PROTIP: The first digit of a cat's toes are a lot more important to it than you'd think) may mean that you'll end up paying a lot more in vet bills than you initially think.

In any case, though, it's obvious you don't give half a shit about your cat. In that case, why not give it away? Instead of just torturing it, you might as well just give it to a shelter or something. Multiple problems solved there--no clawing on your furniture, no need to waste money on cat food, no need to change the litterbox, etc.

Or, if you're just a sadist, you know what? Just kill the damn thing. Snap it's neck or something. As an anonymous once said to a pet owner not unlike yourself, "If you're going to be a dick to animals, you might as well go all the way instead of being half-assed about it."

I love my cat. I would never dump Booki in a shelter just for scratching up my furniture. That's ridiculous.

Everyone's acting like I don't know what declawing is. Guess what? I DO. If I hadn't already researched it, why do you think I'd be willing to make my cat undergo the surgery? Yes, I know it can be bad. But I've weighed my alternatives, and I'm not putting my cat in a shelter or giving her away.
>> Anonymous
i would no sooner be willing to declaw my cats than i would be to get circumcised.
>> Anonymous
thats horrible. Someone should pull your nails out, then chop off your fingers.
>> Anonymous
Have you even tried to use alternatives? Not just thought about them but actually done them? The big reason cats love furniture is because they are lacking a stratching post or the one they have sucks.
>> Anonymous
i've talked to vet techs, it's not that bad to have a cat declawed, really, it isn't

This thread is relevant to my interests.

Until I get out of college my cat will live with my parents. He and my sister's cat have the entire basement to themselves. There are boxes to climb on and old unwanted furniture to scratch up. They also enjoy going outside for short periods during the day.

When I eventually move out though, I want to bring my cat with me. I'm not sure yet how I'm going to tackle both training him to be an indoor cat, and how to train him not to scratch furniture.

ITT trolls.

Your trolling attempt is too weaksauce.

To be a good troll, you have to be subtle. You have to make people believe what you are saying. Statements like, "call me whatever you want, cats don't feel any pain" makes everyone know you're just bluffing. Kudos on the picture, which is normal enough to make people believe it's your cat. Some trolls try to post shock pictures, which only nets you a bunch of wry sages.

Yes, I have. I've tried a variety of scratching posts, but she prefers wood. She goes out sometimes, and I see her scratching up trees, too.

The cats do get anesthitized, you know. They also get pain meds during recovery.

I don't see the comparison.

This thread smells of shit and catfags. OP, get your cat declawed now before the Toxoplasmosis kicks in, and you start putting your cat's life before human life and go completely insane.

Chances are that toxoplasmosis isn't going to be much of a big deal for you unless you already have AIDS.
