Strange Dog Anonymous
My dog eats my cats poo...
is that normal?
Is there a way to stop it?
(the pic is not my cat)

Both of mine try to eat cat turds as well.

I think that dogs will eat crap indiscriminately. We used to have a dog who would get out of the yard, mosey across the street, and roll in our neighbor's horse poop.

your dog has a scat fetish

It´s really strange...by the way...I know the mother dogs usually eat the poo of her puppies...

mother cats do this too, they have to manually stimulate bowel movements of young kittens. There is probably a large amount of undigested nutrients in a puppies and kittens shit so they recycle it.

I hate dogs for that, they lick asses then lick your face, smell pee and eat other's poo

Weeellllll...

Coprophagia (the eating of the poops), unfortunately, is very common. The best way for you to prevent the dog from eating the cat poo is to move the litterbox to somewhere where the cat can reach and the dog can't (i.e. on a shelf) or get a covered litter pan. There's one that you can get called a ClevertCat box, where it's basically a large storage box with a lid and a hole in the lid. The cat has to jump on top of the container and then go into the hole to use the box; it's pretty much dog-proof and most cats adapt pretty quickly.

Other than that, clean the box more if it's a problem. It's pretty nasty when your dog is carrying cat nugget bacteria all over your house in its mouth.

I don't know if there's a way to stop it, but it's not unusual behaviour for a dog.

We had a dog a while back that did it and we tried moving the litter box and everything, but the dog would find it again.

We have 2 smaller dogs now and when they get taken for walks they eat duck poo. I don't know what's up with that, but it's odd...

I love the look on that cat's face. Like, "Umm...excuse me?"

My dog used to eat horseshit all the time, but I've heard it's only natural and healthy, since they get some bacteria they need that way. I don't know about cat poo, though. Mother dogs eat their puppies poo also because otherwise the place they sleep would get dirty.

Yeah, the dog ate my cat's poops all the dang time. I just let him, that dumb dog.

If the shit-breath gets to you, try to put a stop to it, but otherwise it's fine for the dog. Cats expunge nutrients that dogs need.

I would worry more about the dog eating litter in addition to the nuggets. Litter could potentially clog up its gut.
