Nothing like showing some loving affection.

My cat usually catches things when I'm not home. Since he knows I don't like messes on the carpet, he leaves them for me in my laundry hamper.

Gifts? Only one of my cats really hunts, and he usually eats everything he catches.

Endless love and affection

My cat Noodles would always bring candy wrappers, sticks, dead leaves, cigarette butts and other trash to the door and meow until we came out.

Her son Whiskers would bring us live animals, then either kill it while we watched and proceed to eat or try to get it into the house, where he would promptly let it go.

My cat has never brought me anything.

my two old cats that i don't have anymore used to catch birds early in the morning, then i'd wake up to a house full of feathers and have to find where they hid the dead bird.

My cat Jackie (otherwise known as Jack-cat) Brought in a bloody LIVE BIRD this morning!

Seriously, why do they do it? Are they trying to teach us how to hunt or something? And how do I stop her doing it?

Numerous baby rabbits, he would bring them up to the deck and eat them. He would eat the entire front half including bones but leave the intestines and back legs.

One day I followed him back to where he was getting them and found another 3 dead in the long grass.

Sometimes he would stash them in a cool part of the celler for later.

I don't know if he actually got them for me, or just to eat for himself because he would get really angry if I tried to take it off him while he had it. This coming from a cat that never growled normally.

My mum had a cat for about seven years once, from the time I was five years old. He used to bring shit in all the time. Tarantulas, birds of all shape and size, possums bigger than he was, mice, sometimes even frogs in the wetter months. He left us a headless possum in the front garden bed one day, I nearly stepped in it when playing jump rope.

He was the only cat that ever brought us stuff. Last year I brought my cat a baby bird that I found in the street though. She killed it, and then taught her five week olds how to eat it. I had to remove the longer feathers to make it easier for them.

Upon all the still alive and dead things my cat brought, once I got a bat.

And my mom got a pigeon for her birthday. True story.

A chicken.
A dove.
A mouse that was still alive, resulting in me chasing it around the house.

On the first day of Christmas my little kitty gave to me, a partridge that fell from a tree.

On the second day of Christmas my little kitty gave to me; two dead doves and a partridge that fell from a tree.

On the third day of Christmas my little kitty gave to me; three mangled hens, two dead doves, and a partridge that fell from a tree.

One of my cats brought me a live rat once. Dropped it right into my shoe. When I went to get a broom and dustpan to take it out, she plucked it out of the shoe and brought it to me. It was still alive, just paralyzed with fear. After I put it outside, I felt bad about tossing out her gift, so I made a big fuss clapping and petting her, and gave her some treats.

Another cat I had brought me a bird's wing once. Whenever I eat chicken, they dig the bones out of the trash, and put them on my bed.

I feed a few strays also, and they're always leaving crap on the porch.

They are trying to provide for you.

>>And how do I stop her doing it?

When you figure out how to teach a cat to stop being a cat, somehow.

Our cats bought home a duck a few weeks ago at about 4 in the morning, from the river behind our house. The duck survived though.

A couple of years ago i heard squeaking in the other half of our lounge, but i ignored it. My dad came downstairs and saw my cat playing with a mouse, the mouse had hid down the side of a cupboard though, but again it survived. For weeks afterwards my cat kept looking in the corner and trying to get down the side of the cupboard.

They just catch birds really, nothing else of interest, they don't do it that often anymore. Oh and we found a dead frog on our doormat a few weeks ago, that made a nice change.

A rabbit. It survived though What's amazing though is that we have about five acres of land so my cat brought a live, squirming rabbit up five fucking acres from the opposite side of our property.

Throw in the dozens of birds, voles and mice and my cat's a BAMF.

Damn, your cat is the cat incarnation of Chuck Norris.

In cat social structure, higher-ranking animals get first dibs on any food caught. Cats bringing shit to you is like a dog rolling over on its back, it's a signal of submission.

Don't fucking scold them or you will fuck up the social structure.

my cat once brought me a magpie. A whole fucking magpie, dragged it through the cat door, across the house, down the stairs and left it right outside my door where I almost stepped on it the next morning.

And if anyone knows about magpies, those fuckers are mean

So all of you guys must let your cat outdoors? I have 2 cats, and I live in an urban deathmaze, so I can't let them out and practice their natural instincts :(

My kitties are indoor only. This is the only thing I ever get brought.

My cat is indoor, but allowed in the garage. He can't get out of there, but somehow, small animals can get in. He's gotten shrews, mice, skinks, snakes, all manner of insects and spiders, a small bird, and a somewhat large toad from there. (The toad confused me the most. I really have no idea how it got in there.)

my kitty brings fallen flower blossoms to the doormat, she's such a sweetheart :)

My cats have brought me lizards, rats (we get huge fucking rats almost as big as my cats), field mice, shrews, a couple injured but live snakes, a live pigeon, dead pigeons, some squirrels, other birds, spiders, cicadas, and someone's fish they were cooking for supper.
>> Anonymous
I think my cat is retarded because he only brings me leaves and branches and garbage like empty plastic bags. Never brought me any animals.

>> 4 live magpies in the same night, woke up to find them sitting on my deskchair.

My old cat was constantly harrassed by magpies. One would tease her from the front and one would bite her tail from behind. She used to bring me mice all the time, i'm talking about multiple times a day. We lived right next to a big field and she spent most of the day out there getting me gifts.

I'll never forget the day I went for a shower only to find the recess splattered with blood and a pigeon half disemboweled in there. At least it was easy to clean up.
