Hey /an/,

Apparently, my friend gets her bunny drunk. It started when someone spilled vodka and he began lapping it up and loving it. Now, they'll give him a bottlecap full of whatever they're drinking and he gets lethargic and friendly.

Now, my bunny once drank some spilled Scotch we couldn't wipe up fast enough and he HATED it, but even if he didn't, I absolutely never would have given him booze. What do you guys think?

let the rabbit drink, don't be inhumane
>> tigerfeather !CrwtTbFNxQ
I think that it's just as bad for them as it is for us.....we just choose to drink it. If the pet wants to drink it, then so be it - apparently it likes it. People like to put a distance between animals and people, when is all reality a lot of things affect us quite similarly (I always get a laugh out of people who say things like "Oh, he thinks he's people" or "He likes people food").

Granted, you can't go giving the poor thing four shots because you'd kill it, but proportionally it is usually not harmful.

I don't think it's a good idea for any animal. Mostly because their livers are generally much smaller than ours, so it would take much less to destroy them. Think about how small a little rabbit is compared to us, and then apply that scale to their organs. I really don't think it's a smart thing to do.

Over ripened fruit will ferment on the tree, becoming mildly alcoholic. Animals will eat that shit up like candy if they can get it.
>> Anonymous
Eh, just because an animal likes the taste of something doesn't mean it's good for it. For example, some dogs like cocoa mulch, but it's lethal to them.

I blow weed smoke in my rabbit's face all the time. she just does those happy hops for a while then falls asleep in my lap =3

And my cat begs for fucking rum, but I don't give it to her. Your friend is an idiot.

bunnys shuldnt have de booze, but then again, let em live their short bunny lives with plenty sex and booze!
>> Anonymous
Do you guys have any idea how bad human substances are for animals? Think about how tiny their organs are!!! You guys are fucking assholes and I hope the peta fags rape you, because that much you deserve.
>> Anonymous
Lots of wild monkeys that live in proximity to people have been seen to develop a taste for alcoholic drink.
Pigs love beer, as do horses. I can't imagine why rabbits should be any different.

Elephants are known to bury fruit in sand for days and eat the fermented fruit to get drunk. But that's elephants, not rabbits.

For an animal that lives, on average, only eight years, who fucking cares! Let it enjoy something in it's short life, you assholes!

Doesn't mean it's healthy for them...

Sitting on your ass in front of 4chan isn't healthy, either, but we do it anyway. Some animals (people included) make unhealthy choices. Big fucking deal.
>> Anonymous
Is a small amount as a treat now and then really so bad, though?
>> Kotone !bQXLaktCGc
>>168992
This isn't really a matter of the animal making an unhealthy choice. It's the owner's choice to give their pet alcohol or not...

>>168996
Do it at your own risk. There are tastier treats out there, though, I'm sure. :P

I certainly hope this whole thread is trolls. You say that their livers are smaller and can't take it like humans can, but notice OP said A BOTTLE CAP FULL. The bunny is not drinking the same amount as the human, stfu petafags.

/r/ing video of drunk bunny.
>> G??????????????
enjoy your dead bunny.

Bunnies don't live forever anyway. Let the little bugger have his fun.

That sounds adorable. I don't see how it's any different from me letting my cat eat icing and cake bits.

A bottlecap full could be equal to like 5 glasses of beer to that little bunny for all you know. It comes down to this: You don't know how much their body/liver can safely take without becoming dangerous, so unless you do, you probably shouldn't just give them random amounts of alcohol. Even if it does seem like a tiny amount. :P

A bottlecap certainly isn't a lot to us, but for them it could be too much.

stamp on it

for the people saying they don't live long, i've met a few people who have had rabbits that live as long as 13yrs, 10 on average, also with how delicate their digestive system is this could lead to a fatality overnight
>> Anonymous
How the fuck do you know if getting drunk as a rabbit fun or not? You can't verify that in any way, so don't say LOL SHORT LIFE LET HIM HAVE HIS FUN just be fucking honest and say you want to get an animal fucked up just for the hell of it

LOL GUYS DRUGS AND ANIMALS ARE SO FUNNY, LETS SEE HOW SPOT DOES FLYBALL WITH HALF AN EIGHTBALL OF COKE
>> Anonymous
I love all the armchair vets in this thread, WELL IF THE ANIMAL LIKES THIS 80 PROOF ALCOHOL THEN SURELY IT CAN BE OKAY, ANIMALS GET DRUNK OFF FERMENTED FRUIT IN THE WILD.

Duh.

The bunny likes it, and unlike dogs or cats, rabbits are capable of filtering out alcohol. I seriously don't see the problem if it's an occasional bottlecap full.
>> Anonymous
yeah just a bottlecap full of HARD BOOZE
>> Anonymous
bunnies like lots of things that are bad for them, for instance eating clothes which then block up their digestive tracts and they die, bananas or anything with sugars or turns into sugars can lead to an imbalance in thier cecum and lead to gas buildup and death
>> Anonymous

>gas buildup and death

exploding bunnies, fuck yeah!
>> Anonymous
>>169349
they don't explode, they just sit there and die

some animals may eat that and survive, also we're not amateur vets we know from experience

animals don't make these bad choices we do, they would not drink beer or rhum if WE HUMANS did not invent it. You fucking addict fucks are sick excuses for living organism. I hope peta kills you

Most of the people BAWWWWWing in this thread has not read the post at all.

We're not talking about inedible clothes or tropical fruit like bananas which rabbits as a species would never encounter. We're talking about what is essentially rotten seeds or fruit.

As far as animals go, lots of individual animals are perfectly FINE with things supposedly harmful to them. Small dogs who love macademia nuts (poisonous like chocolate), cats that drink milk (normally cats are lactose intolerant), and tree kangaroos who will kill for spicy pork chops (don't ask).

Animals have better developed instincts to tell them what is food and what is not food, and the ones who seek it out tend to be the ones that have a high tolerance for it.

If the rabbit likes it and seems to be able to limit itself, I'd say go ahead. Most of the alcohol will probably pass straight through anyway.

srsly tho, small animals have very tiny livers.

I dunno anything about bunnies but I know how birds are and with a good liver and the right kind of food you can keep it alive about three times longer without it getting a bad liver or kidney and dying.

if you like your pet and want to keep it for a longer time I would suggest you give him alcohol once, then videotape it and do it to the max, get it all out of your system, and then stop it at once (unless he begs... I've never seen a bunny beg but I bet its irresistable) That way even if he dies, you've have a videotape to remember him by. (And technically a videotape of you contributing to his death)
