Cat concerns Anonymous
Earlier today my cat had a condition that required her to have a hysterectomy done and she is not looking to well, that's not to say I was not expecting her farting rainbows or anything I realized she would not be feeling so flash.

When we got her home the first thing she did was run and hide, which was to be expected, however, when she finally came back I noticed that her rear end and her legs were soaking wet, only for her to get on my mothers bed, fall asleep and soil herself.

Also, she keeps grooming herself only to fall into a 'Trance' like state, she will be cleaning her rear and then just sit there, staring blankly with her leg over her head, these trance like states seem to extend to her brief nap (she literally will sit there, eyes open and they will roll back in her head and her lids will slowly close.

anyone here on /an/ got some advise/suggestions/help! for me to make things a little easier on her, I have had her for nine years and this is really painful to see her like this.

You said this surgery was earlier TODAY right? So that means the surgery was recent? If so, it may just be lingering stress from the surgery and perhaps residual effects from the anesthesia. Keep in mind that coming off of general antesthesia is not a pleasant process. Some veterinary anesthetics can cause hallucinations, etc.

I would call your vet's office and talk to them about it. But, if it happened right after surgery I don't think it's cause for alarm.

Thats correct the surgery was earlier today (about 14 hours ago), thanks for the reply, I am just concerned as I have never had a pet require major surgery.

Its pretty much a case of me not knowing what to expect and not wanting to miss something that needs to be reported to the vet etc

when my cat had surgery it took a full 24 hours just before she was able to walk straight without looking like she was about to fall over, and another day after that of aggitated restlessness before settling down for some serious sleeping. She had a hard time eating and drinking, kept knocking over the food or water bowls in moments of disorientation. Vet said it was normal for coming off general anethesia.

I think a phone call to the vets to describe her condition and see what they think would be the best idea.
