keep small cubs smaaaaall? Anonymous
Tiger cubs are so cute! But they grow up to eat you. :(

What if you got one, and had its growth glands removed, gave it hormone therapy, etc, to try to keep it as small as possible?

In before "gb2/bio101/"

remove its pituitary gland.

But would it really work?

How about you go get yourself a cat instead?

oh my... I googled those just a moment ago.
They look rather interesting!
>> Anonymous
>>116157
it would be a very efficient way of killing the thing, yes
>> Anonymous
argh thats a horrible thing to do and certainly not good for the animal. why the fuck would you want to own a tiger anyway? because they are pretty, or do you want to be known as the only person in town with a tiger? tigers aren't fucking house cats.
thats just like people who own alligators, pythons and other reptiles who stunt their growth so they 'stay small'. people who do shit like that don't deserve to own them.

>>116256
Why the fuck would someone get a pet that's going to get huge and then try to stunt its growth? What's the point? There usually ARE smaller versions anyway. Like pythons. Isn't the reason people get that kind of pets that they will eventually be large in size as that Microsoft gaming console is?
I don't get it... :I
>> Anonymous
>>116324
probably because it'd be 'cool' to own one, but they know they can't take care of the animal once its huge.
so its either they release it when its older and get another baby one, or stunt its growth.

and still wtf OP.
first getting a tiger is going to cost you well over $1000 and with all that surgery shit you're looking at over 20 grand
>> Anonymous
just stfu you all and get a Toyger.

Science is way far ahead of you

Dammit!

If only humankind had tried to domesticate large felines thousands of years ago! Then we wouldn't have this problem!
>> Anonymous
>>116410
house cats today aren't even fully domestic, if you haven't noticed.
i don't know about tigers but i hear that pumas aren't very different from a regular house cat besides their size. possibly the same with tigers.
its just that they are huge and can eat your face off.

Pussy. Wassa matter? Your neighbors too bad for your tiger?
>> Anonymous
Naww, if you remove the growth hormone producing glands, the tiger's fur ends up all fucked up looking.

Calm the fuck down veggiehead, it was a question of curosity -- not like (s)he's really going to do it.

Just get some kittens and paint them tiger colors.
>> Anonymous
Go with a real tiger because you never know if your pet really loves you unless it's actually capable of killing you.

Or in that case he could just get a huge dog.

And spray paint it red and black striped.

That is the most retarded thing I've ever heard of in my life.
>> Anonymous
Knowing how insane mankind is, within a hundred years, someone is going to genetically engineer a tiger that remains a cub for its whole lifetime. That is, unless tigers are extinct by then.
>> Anonymous
Get a Liger instead.
>> Anonymous
You can somewhat get along with a lion if you raise it yourself, but tigers are much more unpredictable.

Yeah, Aquaman is in trouble now.

Toygers or whatever the tiger/cat mix being bred now is are fucked up. They have less proportional stength than a cat meaning a cat pound for pound is much stronger than it so you've basically got a cripple that won't even live very long. All it's good for is a house decoration. Don't expect it to be active like a perfextly normal house cat. It'll just be a sad piece of shit taking up couch space.
>> That Gomez
>>117052
It's okay. No one will miss him
>> Anonymous
Get a Toyger, they're quite pretty
>> Anonymous
>>117060

You know that's not what Toygers are, right?
>> Anonymous
     File :-(, x)
>>117060

Toygers aren't cat/tiger mixes. They're just cats bred to look like miniature tigers. As of now, breeders can pretty accurately reproduce the coloring/stripes of a tiger, but structurally, they still look like housecats.

Pic is Grammy, a 17-year-old Toyger. See http://www.toygers.org for more info.
>> Anonymous
>>117112
It WOULD be cool if they could just add tiger colouration genes to normal cats.
>> Anonymous
how much does a Toyger kitty (cub lol) cost?
becouse I know they are considered "designer cats"
>> Anonymous
>>117514

Anywhere from $500-$1500, depending on the "quality" (in the $500 range, you might have some that don't have well-defined stripes, are gray/black instead of orange/black, etc.) $1500 gets you a show-quality cat, one that really looks like a tiny tiger.

I found the breed originator's site. She asks anywhere from $500 to $1500 for kittens, depending on the markings. The ones that go for less aren't very spectacular looking...

She wants $750 for the one in the picture I've included. Wtf. Could get the same thing for free at a shelter.
