Parrot thread?

I've got a Red Lored Amazon, he's only about five. Surprisingly well-mannered bird, doesn't screech much except when "talking" to the local wild birds / the parrot down the street, and is actually really friendly as long as you don't piss him off. Only lets one or two people pet him, but he'll climb onto your hand with very little provocation.

He also seems to enjoy "modelling" for pictures quite a bit. I can't get my dogs to stay still for a second to focus on them, but Pico posed happily for several minutes as I was snapping pictures. (With a bounced/diffused flash, by the way, I wouldn't think for a moment of hitting him with a direct one.)

here he is strutting around. he's a green cheeck conure btw. not too loud, except for the occasional screech...

he tries to talk but isn't very good at it. he says "georgie" (his name is goerge) and he'll try to say "doggies" when my dogs run by. he's a great whistler

Are most parrots pretty close in intelligence or are Greys significantly smarter than most?

I think all birds are intelligent. The real difference is that african grays have a higher ability for speech.

I'm pretty sure the speech thing is incidental. Corvids and parrots are probably provably statistically more intelligent than most other birds. I was just wondering whether there were rankings amongst parrots.
