vaccines for dogs and cats; what is /an/'s opinion. im a natural herbal homeopath who hates the idea of being injected with lead and mercury, and all kinds of wierd things. i had one of my dogs go get their first set of shots, again cuz the people that we got them from lied and said "oh they have all their shots" so we missed the return appointment, so it kinda upset me that they are going to have to be stuck again. just wanna hear some opinions.

picture is of a cat.

Vaccines are mostly noninfectious virus pieces. I mean, there's other stuff in there two, but it's mainly just viral antigens. Anyway, your dogs will be fine. Vaccines save lives. You should at least consider some yourself.

no way in hell man, seriously. you know mercury does crazy stuff to peoples brains right? stuff like gardasil and the flu shots, its useless. anything of the sorts if done properly can be done through non-synthetic medicinal therapy.....i know im taking your opinion nd shoving it up your ass LOL but seriously.take a look at all the stuff that goes into making a vaccine. i shit my pants, i havnt been vaccinated in 5 years, with the exeption of a tetnis shot 3 years ago.. i dont play with rusty scissors anymore, guaranteed.

the below is a portion of this website, its a big read but informative. dont read it if ya dont want to but im juist throwing it out there.

Let’s look at some facts:

1) During the bubonic plague not every body died and the four thieves stole from dead bodies with out disease. [Their "trick" was to use garlic.]

2) During serious outbreaks of strept-throat in this country, not every one gets the disease, but nearly everyone harbors the pathogens.

3) Even the most feared polio was eliminated in one town (Charlotte, NC) in 1949 by Ben Sandler and nutritonal changes. Elizabeth Kenny also was able to treat many cases of paralytic polio, with complete recovery. Allopathic treatment led to permanent paralysis.

4) Vaccinated children get disease at the same rate as the unvaccinated children. Therefore, there is literally no advantage from taking a vaccine ... considering the damage that they cause.

5) Many doctors refuse to vaccinated their own children. [Shows that some doctors have common sense.]

6) How can a depressed immunity be advantageous to our health? All vaccines depress immunity.

7) Vaccine Mathematics: Our immune system is finite. We have a limited number of white blood cells and a limited ability to produce white blood cells. Now making our body react to an innocuous childhood virus like measles or mumps leaves our body unable to defend itself against other viruses which are far worse. If one is to be prepared for disease, it only makes sense to give our body super nutrition and let our body deal with the diseases naturally. We may be depressing our immunity in trying to fight off one disease, that we insure that we get another disease instead. For example, how many of varieties of flu viruses are there; yet we take only two or three in one flu shot. Viruses have the ability to mutate at will and we will never keep up with them by trying to create the proper antibodies before hand. Koch said that viruses were like a stack of cards, shuffle the deck and get a new virus each time. Yet, taking vaccines insures us of having the "deck" stacked against us.

While I agree with you that in some cases vaccines can do much damage (several people in my family, including myself, began exhibiting ASD symptoms after the measles vaccination) I think you are very wrong in reufsing all vaccines and in thinking that vaccines do more harm than good. Vaccines have all but eliminated the outbreaks of disease such as polio and it is extremely unusual for people to die from vaccinatable diseases such as chicken pox or yes, the measles. While a lot of that is to do with improved knowledge of sanitation and nutrition and patient, a lot of it is to do with the vaccines themselves. Indeed, some vaccines are based on potentially harmful materials, such as deactivated strands of the viruses themselves but there is sound knowledge and reasearch behind this...

The simple fact is that vaccines have radically reduced the incidents of fatal disease in the Western world and are a vital part of aid to the third world. I firmly believe that much of the reasoning against vaccination is flawed. There is much relevant information there, of course, but I think that this is buried under an avalanche of isolated and poorly understood incidents and suprious reasoning. Having studied a lot of chemisty I find the lack of methodolgy and control surrounding homeopathic medicines hair raising. I have used herbal remedies for common complaints and have been very satisfied, but I always made sure that there were rigid controls in place surrounding the testing and manufacture of these products. When a relative who was suffering liver damage from an autoimmune disorder, the first question was not "Do you abuse drugs or alcohol?" (she doesn't and we have the toxicology results to prove it) it was, "Do you take herbal remedies?"

Arsenic is 'natural' but it shouldn't be part of one's diet. And since the introductions of vaccines, millions and millions of people are alive now who would be dead. In the case of your animals, I doubt that whatever potential side effects that could come from vaccinations would affect them to any great degree considering their natural lifespan is quite short compared to that of a human.

/end preaching mode/
>> Anonymous
>>339079
Actually, you'll die if you have zero arsenic intake! You'd be surprised what you need trace amounts of.
>> Anonymous
OP I'm pretty sure that if they were injecting dogs with lead and mercury they'd pretty consistently be dropping dead from heavy metal poisoning.
>> Jae
Depends entirely on where you go, what they offer, and what the life of the animals is going to be like.

Distemper is a must. DHPP, or, depending on where you live, DHLPP. The diseases they protect against WILL kill an animal.

Rabies. Required by law. Has to be done. The only exception is if they have had an adverse reaction to the vaccine in the past, and even then, most places will pre-treat for a reaction just to do this one.

If they're going to be boarded, kenneled regularly, groomed regularly, or around a lot of other dogs on a regular basis, bordetella is a really wise idea. It can be given in an intranasal form or as an injection, so it doesn't necessarily mean "being stuck again". It also prevents kennel cough from developing into pneumonia.

Also, depending on where you live, keeping them on heartworm preventative is also a good idea. Not only do most brands prevent heartworms, several of them also act as broad-spectrum dewormers.
>> Anonymous
OMG i didn't knew vaccines where THAT bad...my mom put a lot of vaccines in me when I was a loli, i might die from so many injections...
>> Anonymous
>>339291
no you wont die. i had alot of vaccines too. you just have to stop NOW and tell other people to stop. as many as you can. if you see a mother with her baby in a hospital, just make mention of vaccines and tell her the things that you know about them. promote a "NO" mentality to everyone. even my sister calm as a stream, yell;ed at one of her friends to not get vaccinated, i was proud of her for having the knowledge and speaking out about it. normally people take things with a grain of salt, but it only takes one person to spread a word. =D
>> Anonymous
>>339267
actually thats not entirly true, although it is possible to die from those metals; the ammount that is used in the shots is so minuscule that it hardly affects you. but multiple injections of your life time will DEFINITELY affect you negatively. 2 of my brothers have autism (one severe and the other moderate) and my self, supposedly has asbergers caused, and or made worse by the mercury. now i know that genetics take the role of brain development. but like i said mercury is not the sole cause. but its stil not good to have it injected into your body LOL. seriously though all of the things that ive learned over the years, i feel terrrible for all the people that dont know, i just wish that we knew THEN what we know now. it is unfotunate.
>> Anonymous
>>339277
yes even hating vaccines i agree with you that rabies Must be protected against in dogs. and my dogs are actually getting a de-wormer soon. and some things just happen, God forbid they get heart worms, but thats just nature. IF you give your animals a healthy environment, good food and clean water, things can be avoided. contact with other dogs is not an issue if the other dogs are healthy as well. its all about the decisions that the owner makes. you can give them all the vaccines you want, but if they dont have basic health needs met, then vaccines dont really mean much anyway. in my opinion.

This line of argument is bizarre. 1 in 100 babies suffer from various degrees of autistic mental defects. 1 in 2,000 die from sudden infant death syndrome(s), of which these various clips allow for only half to have been possibly caused by bad vaccination.

We are talking about <1% risk of various kinds of damage from bad vaccines. These rates of death or impairment pale in comparison to the cumulative effects of the all the communicable diseases vaccinations ameliorate.

This is like saying you shouldn't take aspirin during a heart attack because you might get Reye's syndrome, or you shouldn't run regularly because you might get hit by a car.

Any person in charge of public health policy would gladly trade all the pandemic diseases of the past for such low percentages of autistic children and SIDS deaths.

an update on my six month old border collie,.....hes fucking crazy absolutely in-fucking-sane. he wont sit still and he jumps on everything, and wont listen to a word or a hand signal. torments the cats and goes into the cat box (normal for some dogs, but he never did) he dosnt even walk on a leash anymore, he bucks all around and bites the leash and jumps on you while walking. all of these things started after the vaccines were administered.

let me tell you about his retarded brother, he had a flop ear so both ears pointed the same direction, my theory is; his ear was deformed coming out of the birth canal, and his equilibrium was unbalanced not allowing his brain to fully develop, causing his erratic behavior and overall retardation, granted he wasnt actually retarded i just make it easy and say that. this dog, whom we have given to a home that better suits his needs, did exactly what our dog does now only he was only vaccinated once before; had it not been for the flop ear he could have been a good dog like the one we have now...untill we got him inoculated. i hope that this is only temporary behavior. and if its not theres not really much i can do about it. but maybe in the future we will be intelligent enough to not get our animals and people vaccinated.

oh by the way my two year old baby speaks 18 word sentences he turned 2 in july. hes never been vaccinated and thats the reason that he is able to speak so well. cant say that for most 2 year olds huh. most 2 year olds cant even so "look mommy the dog is licking my face, puppy is giving me kisses!"

vaccines make kids zombies, i was a product of my decade and generation but i go against all the bullshit and found my own way of thinking. and i know what is right, whether or not i be wrong or right is only up to me because i am not you, and your are not me.

"Individuality is the salt of common life; you may have to live in a crowd, but you do not have to live like it, nor subsist on its food." -Henry Van Dyke

when i found this quote it described, and validated my beliefs. it takes wisdom to understand. i dont care if this is 4chan, knowledge can be given anywhere and can not be restricted. for all who refute wisdom your lives mean nothing until you understand yourself and learn to love the life you have and appreciate other people for who they are, humans, not what they believe, because if "individuality is the salt...."; salt is bitter and, makes you bitter and ignorant of other peoples ideals and beliefs, while reassuring your own beliefs in your individuality.

edit, for those who dont fully understand.

being and individual does not mean "be bitter to other people and the way they think". the salt is simply a way to describe the overall idea of "your beliefs are not mine and i dont believe what you believe". it is a way of understanding that to be human is to be bitter, unless you have no individuality and follow everyone else. but take this for example; if everyone loved each other (bare with me) all we would have to do is believe in love, and if we all have a loving and compassionate spirit we could all believe in whatever we want, and STILL disagree, but its ok because we love each other and we dont HAVE to agree because we can respect everyones beliefs, because "i am not them, and they are not me". and there would be no conflict just understanding......OF course the world doesnt work like that cuz people are so tight ass and cant comprehend simple concepts, and we repeat the same mistakes over and over again, like racism. its not gonna go away anytime soon, and killing people are gonna kill. shit just doesnt stop. why is that? really why do you think that is?

Goddamn it I hate moonbat hippies.

But really, you are free to go back to the time of entirely natural medicine, living till the ripe old age of 50. The bubonic plague isn't even much of a threat anymore, thanks to the wonder of antibiotics. BUT THAT'S TOTALLY A FUCKING CONSPIRACY SPREAD BY EVIL SCIENTISTS. While the pharmaceutical industry can be assholes who rip people off, to deny the life-saving abilities of modern medical science is naïve and childish view only really seen in patchouli-drenched morons or those who are unable to live with the complexity of any issue and must evangelize one side and demonize the other. In fact, the thought of science and nature warring against each other is merely preying on the fears of the layman: science is ultimately the study of nature in pursuit of truth. To uphold the silly dichotomy of safe natural chemicals versus super-dangerous laboratory made chemicals is utterly moronic; both alter your body's chemistry and both can be life-saving or utterly deleterious. To ignore this because there are some assholes who lie will only harm you in the end.

You're basically lucky that the majority of people are inoculated today so the disease doesn't even get the chance to spread to you. I suppose it's unfortunate that you're unable to see the days when mothers would often bury their young due to illnesses which are trifling in the modern world.

no. synthetics work better than homeopathics. id didnt mean to give the impression that homeopathics were better. they are slow and less powerful. but if used properly can do the same things that "meds" do with fewer to no side affects. of course not all homepathics are for everyone. and there is really no conspiracy. its just my own belief after many hours of study. it cant be proven. but for the people that know, and the people that are curious to find out, we will be with knowledge and those who deny it. will be left in the dark. =P thats all dont be so presumptuous. of course im in no position to say that of course. anyway thats pretty much it.

You are an idiot. For one thing, you don't know what the hell homeopathy even is. Homeopathy is not harnessing natural chemicals to treat illness, it is bunk science where you use something that will produce the symptoms of the affliction in a healthy person to treat that affliction. There is no scientific proof that this even works. If, however, you do know the "theory" (I only use this term in the most loose and unscientific fashion), then you are a moron clinging to a method of treatment that isn't proven to work beyond the placebo effect.

In fact, the crux of my argument wasn't necessarily that natural treatments are "bad", per se. I'm hopeful that you were intelligent enough to realize this, but I suppose I was mistaken. I am not alone in recognizing what natural compounds are capable of. What I was actually arguing against was the rampant anti-intellectualism in the words that dribble out of your mouth. You're just a privileged asshole relying on the fact that we've been an inoculated populace for quite some time, so of course you're unlikely to even realize the benefits of vaccination since you're lucky enough to not even be exposed to these diseases on a regular basis. Vaccines aren't meant to work on a one-to-one basis; there are times when vaccines will fail for an individual. What makes vaccination such an effective prevention is that it is done en masse so the majority of the population will have an immunity to the disease, which also has the side benefit of giving it fewer hosts, making it easier for those too young, too old, or too moronic to be inoculated less likely to be exposed to the disease.

Vacines is yes cause
1. House says yes. I say fuck yes to house. Ergo...
2. Mercury is in fish. Eskimores don't die often, nono?
3. Dead bacteria is dead. Weakened bacteria is weakened. Vacines in that regaurd is harmless unless you're full of AIDS or fail. Mostly aids though, cause immune would habe to be nonexistant to not fight off this stuff. Srsly, do you know how hard it is to pass drug regulations and get a vacine approved? Very fuck hard. Meaning it's pretty dern safe.

Couse, there's always the chance you'll get hit by lightning, but that doesn't mean I'm staying inside all my life. Not that I wouldn't anyway.

So... You know that it can't be proven. You know that homeopathic medicines are just shaken water (should be obvious after many hours of study). And you still believe that homeopathy works.

This makes me curious. Is it even possible to convince you that homeopathy doesn't work? If yes, what would be convincing enough?

it works for me, and thats all that matters i guess. have you guys ever tried it?

Just another poor idiot that didn't learn in school what avogadro's number is and that there is never an effect without a cause.
No molecules of something in a solution, no effect.

Rules of homeopathy:
1.) Like cures like. A solution of a poison causing syptoms similar to the desease will be a cure to same desease.
2.) The more diluted the solution the more powerful it gets.
3.) The level of dilution is at least so large that there is not even a molecule of the original poison present in the solution.
4.) Sell pure water
5:) No side effects
6.) ... profit!

You only think it worked for you. The fact is that it didn't. Something else "worked" and you mistakenly assign the credit to homeopathy. At best it is a placebo.

this is one that i use frequently, but not anymore because it is an alkaloid, and it interferes with the current medicine im on and soon to be off. (seroquel shit sucks)

i have chronic headaches (migranes) and as soon as i treat with belladona the blood vessles in my head constrict and *poof* all better! =P i dont take any medicine for my headaches, like tylenol or advil. i just ride it out cuz im hardcore like that. =D

Milk Thistle is not Homeopathy.

Homeopahy is not the same thing as Herbal or Holistic medicine, even though they all start with "H".

Homeopathy is snake oil, pure and simple. The others may or may not be, depending on circumstances.

did you look at the "see also" at the bottom of the page. its similar stop picking. homeopathy is to me anything that is natural that you use to feel better. homeopathy holistic and herbal i use them all.
>> Anonymous
>>343049

Regardless of what words YOU use interchangeably, there is a huge difference between those terms.

Homeopathy literally means "same disease". homeopathy says that, for example, if you are suffering from Tuberculosis, then you should take a "medicine" that contains an infantesimally small amount of Tuberculosis bacteria. This is nowhere close to the same thing as taking beladonna to cure a headache.

You wouldn't confuse the terms "heterosexual" with "homosexual". Don't confuse homeopathy with herbal medicine. One is worthless, the other is not.

You appear to utilize language less effectively than most people. Good luck with that.

Haha, you and your silly Avogadro's number.
Homeopaths have invented all kinds of new (unverified, against the known physical laws or verified to be wrong) physics and chemistry to explain how their shit works.

For example, that the water molecules have some kind of memory and that they remember what kind of chemicals they've seen before.

I guess this bullshit would be more interesting if there were reliable and repeatable studies showing that homeopathic medicines actually work.

yes, you are right. i guess i was a bit lenient with my terminology... so then to clear things up; i use herbal and holistic medicine.

So, after "many hours of study", you can't even get your terminology right. Awesome.

seriously though. is that so, i dont really like aroma therapy, cuz i dont like the idea of breathing in anything other than air, i have a stigma of my lungs getting "clogged" and not being able to breathe very well in the future, from prolonged use, of aromatherapy.

I once had a flatmate who was an aroma therapist. He'd burned out his sense of smell and everything was about four times as strong as it should have been. I had massive, perpetual sinusitis, rhinositus, asthma and abscesses in my sinus cavities. The bum was pretty much unemployed- he was supposed to be running his own business but all he did was sit around and play computer games for sixteen hours a day and live off the deposit his father had given him to buy a house with- and I told him, please use your oils when I'm at work because it is making me ill. He told me flat out to my face that it wasn't the oils. He'd put something on the burner and three minutes latter my eyes and nose would be streaming and I'd have an asthma attack. He'd then glare at me as if to say that I was either faking it or doing it deliberately, and tell me that it couldn't possibly be the oils that were making me ill.

He had man boobs that constantly flopped out of the ancient singlets he wandered around in, and so much body hair that he shed worse than my German Shepherd. Statistically speaking there must be aroma therapists around that are of actually some good to people, but damned if I'm ever going to hang around any of them to figure out which they are.

thats probly the reason i cant do aroma therapy, cause of my asthma. normally it dosnt bother me but when confronted with strong scents i get a bit tight chested. more so than id like to admit.
