Mean Kitties. Anonymous
Dear /an/,

This is My Cat Tracey. She is 4 and a half years old. She a small cat about 10 pounds... she is also very mean...we got her last Christmas from a no-kill shelter. They said she had been living in that shelter for most of her life (her owner died when she was around 1)...I've never heard a cat growl so often, Its as if she trust us but doesn't want any attention paid to her. She will hiss and scratch if you try to pet her...the only time she likes you is if you have food. then you still can't pet her...I give her little scraps of turkey lunch meat every now and then, but it makes no progress with her. I still get scratched for tying to touch her. Its been 6 months and she hasn't changed a bit...I'm not getting rid of her...that would be mean.

How do I make my cat more friendly?

We had a cat like that. She never wanted to be touched and she stank. She would only rarely want to be pet and it was usually while I was falling asleep. I would fall asleep and she would bit me when I fell asleep and stopped petting her.

She was such a bitch all the time. Maybe because my little brother named her Harry.

She loves it. Rolls her face and whole body in it....but it seems like it aggitates her more...any way I still get bit
>> Anonymous
ugh, well training the biting is dangerous because if it feels threatened she can send you to the ER with those hind legs' claws... make you look like you were trying to do emo cutting HARDCORE.

Tell me, do you play with her? Does she get her aggression out on inanimate objects? Do you let her take the food from your hand or is it left on the ground? You have to get her used to being handled.

Whatever the case, hiss at the damn thing if it bites you and leave. Train it to realize if it bites, you leave. If it hurts you, scare the shit outta it by pretending to be an actor and shrieking at the pain like you were being assaulted. If anything, you'll at least enjoy your self-appointed right to wreak auditory mayhem.

However, it doesn't seem to want you in the first place, lol. Do you leave her food out to graze? Stop it and start feeding it at regular intervals to perhaps show that you're feeding it. Some cats warm up to you once they realize you're providing them num nums.

Describe moar interactions. If you're a girl and cute, post tits. Clothed is fine too.

If I hold the meat out she will usually just stare at me. So I put it on the Floor and let her have it, she'll lick it up right there or run away with it.

She plays with laser pointers...and milk jug caps...and those stupid little spider rings that show up around halloween...I don't see any aggression...but I don't know what I should be looking for...she does get all riled up, If i try to pet her while shes playing, it usually scares the shit out of her and she jumps up in the air

You gotta give a cat like that time.

I may be underageb&, but I know my cats. At a friend's farm, there is ALWAYS this pregnant cat and all her kittens are usually unsocial. I go in every summer and spend time with them. They end up loving me.

But first, just chill around her. No touching, and pretend you're not interested in her at the slightest. Cats are weird, when you give them attention they never want to be around you.

Give her good food sometimes, but make her eat it out of your hand or near you if you think you'll get bit.

It'll take a while, though, so don't just do this for one day and come back going 'it didn't work ;_;'.

Well it may be difficult, but work to associate your touch with pleasure/food. meaning touch her in a way that doesn't freak her out, when she's being cool and relaxed, then produce a treat on the floor. Keep upping the ante from touch to pet to eventually carrying by consistently showing her that you touching her in some way is good for her via treats.

Don't do the yell of pain when trying to train her. Be patient when in this mode, and look for moments to pull it off. Alternatively, try distracting your cat in order to touch it. Like hide a paper ball behind you and start crumpling it and see if she reacts. Then lightly touch her. That kind of thing.

I'm unsure if it's the cat's personality or a learned response to humans... point is, work with what you got: angry cat! Distract angry cat, reward angry cat when angry cat's cool, and cry out in pain (effectively scaring angry cat) to dissuade such behavior.

SHE THINKS SHE RUNS THE HOUSE. YOU GOTTA SHOW THAT CAT WHO RUNS SHIT. SNEAK UP BEHIND HER AND GRAB THAT STUCK UP HUSSY BY THE SCRUFF OF HER NECK AND HISS REALLY LOUD TO SHOW HER WHATS UP. BUT YOU GOTTA LET HER RUN AWAY AND SULK RIGHT AFTER CAUSE IF NOT SHE WILL TURN AROUND AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW YOU WILL BE BATTLING WITH HER IN THE SIX SIDED RING OF FIRE, AND YOU DONT WANT THAT.

I agree, the only way to deal with a cat like that is to go at it with a baseball bat full of nails a couple times a week. Worked wonders for my cats.

you could say they're taught to be so well mannered you couldn't tell them apart from a lifeless stuffed animal right next to it amirite?

You are the cancer that is killing /b/, you fucking huge ass tumor.

Go back to shitting yourself over troll threads and calling anyone within a ten foot radius gaiafag. I bet your mom regretted not getting that abortion.

>>112172
Oh I'm sorry. I assumed only a gaiafag would bother admitting underage status on an ANONYMOUS BOARD. It appears you're merely another dimwitted FUCKTARD. Feel better fucktard? Good ^_^

>>112173

gtfo with your little weaboo faces. If every gaiafag who ran amok on /b/ did such, a lot more gaiafags would be b&.

Since I see retards like you pointing fingers at anything that happens to move "wrong", it hasn't happened yet.

Besides, what the hell are you doing on the /an/ board, looking for more people to call gaiafags?

Get this immature shit off of /an/ and gb2gaia both of you. Srsly.

My boss has a cat like that - it didn't get socialized properly as a kitten, and now it doesn't know what hurts others and what is acceptable stuff. Just give her time, follow the advice from>>112149and>>112146. She might never be totally normal, but it seems like she's at least found a good understanding owner.

We had a cat who had been separated from her mother too early. She started out all right, but then went batshit insane as she matured. Eventually she managed to ran away never to be seen again (she probably got hit by a car). We've now had two properly weaned kitties for 14 years, and both are completely normal.

The only way I deal with mean cats is to pick them up, hold them in a "im going to hug you to death" type of manner, let them kick, bite, scratch all they want the whole time calling them embarassing names like snookums and sweetie and such. I also usually get right in their face and snuggle up to it and they hiss and growl and bitch for like 5 mins and when they shut up and stop struggling i let them go. lather rinse repeat lol. The cat eventually gives in and starts acting nice. Unless you're doing it wrong... Make sure the paws are in the position like the one in the picture and then cuddle it. Sorry for the macro, was only example pic I had here.
>> Anonymous
Kill it and get a newborn kitten, better then dealing with that shit.

>>112134

This anon seems to know what their talking about.

Don't try and pet her while she's all psyched up from playing.

Try ignoring her for a while, except when you feed her. Talk to her and stuff, but don't pet her. Some cats simply don't like to be petted all the time, but she may eventually show affection in a different way. I lived with a cat that was aggressive, bitey, and freaked out occasionally while being petted. But she loved to sleep with me at night or sit on my lap. My cat doesn't like to be held or extensively petted, but he will sit by my feet and rub his head against me. He also follows me around the house.

I don't know why there is a problem with macro cats on /an/. I mean first off its about animals and is aimed to make ya laugh some. Not to mention
me personaly i like those pics and when I'm at work its not like i can lurk on /b/ to get to see them and it doesn't really back the theme in here most the time they post the pic and talk about whats ITT. I guess some people just have to be perfectionists of their own world and fail to see that yes there may be text on the pic but its still animals and nature <---- remember thats the theme cock cheese bastards.

The problem is that with no limits to macroing, the whole board would eventually devolve into a an animal macro board. See 7chan's cat for more detail. But I do think that when a poster can't find anything but a macroed image to illusrate a point, deleting it for the macro is a bit too anal.

>>112736

Agreed! I wouldn't even put up with that kind of shit from a dog, much MUCH less a cat.

Do what another user recommended, and sneak up behind it grab it hard by the scruff, shake it and hiss loudly at it. To add, wear a long sleeved shirt/turtle neck and gloves to protect from scratching, and don't forget to toss it at a wall or into a basin of cold water after. If that doesn't work after a few days, pop it with a hammer, by a kitten. (Or something equivalent, like a hamster.)

Macro image replies are against the RULES. That's why they're being deleted. If more people would stop to read the rules here, there'd be a lot less butthurt going around.

I'd get rid of it. Release it into the wild. I'm sure it would be happier.

some cats are like that...if it really bothers you then give it back to the shelter..if not ask ur vet maybe??
