Ok, I have the kind of bird in that picture, he's a sun conure. I am too broke to take him to the vet right now and I need to know what an overweight/obese birds looks like. Anyone have any pictures? I think my bird might be overweight but I dunno.

Conures look fat anyway, unless it's becoming spherical I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks...

>An obese bird has a "soft" chest that protrudes out on either side of the breastbone, and also often has a bulgy fat deposit just in front of the vent.

Why do you suspect your bird might be overweight? If you're feeding it too many sunflower seeds and pellets, then don't.

give him some fresh food

my birds love corn muffins

If you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet.

If he already has the bird your priceless advice is usless! Go play in traffic

Can't you read? I said I can't afford to go to the vet RIGHT NOW, meaning I can later. I bought the bird 3 years ago, fucking genius.

I think you're missing the point....

Yeah that makes sense
Like if someone has a kid and they can't afford to take it to the doctor but it's ok because they'll probably be able to afford it someday and the kid is already 3

He said he wants to know how to tell if his bird is pudgy, not what to do because his bird is wheezing or wounded, etc. Chill the fuck out. It isn't exactly an emergency.

because being unhealthy and not going to the vet regularly is perfectly safe

Where does OP say he doesn't take the bird for an annual checkup? You don't even know that the bird IS overweight. All he's said is he doesn't have the money to take the bird in for a checkup RIGHT NOW, and "should I cut down on the sunflower seeds?" isn't exactly the kind of emergency that warrants a payment plan.

1. WHAT IF AN EMERGENCY HAPPENED AND IT *NEEDED* TO GO TO THE VET *RIGHT NOW*? IF HE CAN'T AFFORD THAT HE CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE A PET.
2. THESE KIND OF QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ASKED TO A VET, NOT 4CHAN

MOST VETS ARRANGE INSTALLMENT PAYMENT PLANS FOR EMERGENCIES

It's also possible that he could scrounge up the money for an emergency, but can't justify hocking his TV for "I'm concerned that my bird might be fat."

I am not poor or anything, it's just that these past few months have been tight for me money wise. If you dont live on your own, stfu because you dont know. ANYWAYS, yes, if there WAS an emergency, I would not have to worry because my vet DOES have payment plans. And I DO take him in for an annual each year. The point of OP was that I wanted to compare pictures of obese birds to my bird. I do NOT feed him all seeds. I feed him only pellets and I give him seeds when he doesnt shut the fuck up. And apples and carrots because thats the only fresh food he likes. Anyways, thanks for nothing.

I don't recall those questions being asked...

...yeah, it's probably obese. Sprout some fucking seeds and beans, buy some whatgrass, mealworms, romaine lettuce, etc.
>> Anonymous
He doesn't like lettuce. Hell no I am not giving him mealworms. Wheatgrass? Wtf? No! His diet is fine! I just heard somewhere that if you can see a line down the front of his chest, it means he's overweight. I wanted to see a picture of that because I can see a faint line on my bird. If so, I need to take him to the vet when I get paid. If he's not overweight, I don't want to waste my money when I can wait til his annual.

I lol'd. Yeah, you probably should take him to the vet. And be sure to tell the vet you're a lazy faggot with no idea how to properly feed a conure and that she should do some bloodwork to test liver function.
