Wow /an/! I've been walking through the woods in my area of Massachusetts for many many years and I have NEVER seen a flower like this. It was just randomly on the side of a trail and I took a lot of pictures. Please tell me what kind of flower it is!

Holy crap /an/ actually helped! I'm amazed, you're right!
I'm like 100 miles from Cape Cod and it was still pretty random to see it here, but makes sense.

It is a good photo, crisp and shows the colours more clearly than most "identify this X" threads, so maybe that guy's got a crappy monitor or no eyes.

And yes, my first thought was a ballsack lol

YOu all fucking fail, it's a ladyslipper and it's very endangered. I hope you didn't fucking pick it, OP.

>Special Concern

Whatever that means. I know it's rare here anyway since I've never, ever seen one in this area. It'll probably be run over by a 4 wheel ATV though. Nothing I can do about it really. Maybe I'll try to surround it with rocks so those fucking things will avoid it, but I doubt that'll work.

I didn't pluck it. Hell, I was afraid to touch it. Besides, it's apparently a very bad garden flower because it requires an extremely specific environment.
