Injured Bird Anonymous
Hello /an/,

I was wondering if you can help me identify what kind of bird this is. So I know what it eats. (I currently have wild bird food, dove food and earthworms in its enclosure just to see if it eats.)

I took this little guy in after it was running around like fucknuts and bashed its head against the garage door. It seems to be doing alright thus far.. But I really need to know what it is. Google failed me.

Nooooot completely sure, but by the structure, the bird might be a bug or berry-eating one. Looks kind of heavy-built, so probably seeds and bugs and stuff like that might be the thing it eats.

Then again, it might eat nothing while captured. Release as soon or possible, or if it's not possible, go see a vet and get the needed information.

where do you live and what sort of habitat is around you?

looks like a migratory beach lovin bird with the long beak. talking it to a wildlife rehibilatator is best.

It's easier to ID a bird if we know what area it's from. But taking it to a wildlife rehab center would be best for it.

That or at least contact one so you can get the information you need. If you can get it healthy soon in a few days then in theory that would be better than bogging down the rehab place with another patient. Then again if you're the least bit unsure just take it to a professional.

OP here.

I live in a very rural area of eastern Pennsylvania, and I have never seen a bird like this before.

I would really like to try to get the bird better by myself, because there are no wildlife rehabilitators around in my area, not at least for many..many miles. Rescuing injured animals and caring for them is something I like to do, and I always had success. But this case puzzles me because of its species.

I'm pretty sure it's a king rail do you have anymore pictures of it?
