Birds are awesome pets.

-Their shit doesn't stink
- They're intelligent
- They can mimic
- some species know what words mean and can actually talk to you
- They're cuddly and affectionate
- They're pretty to look at
- They virtually clean themselves, the only cleaning needed by you is a quick spray or dish of water
-They live way longer then a dog or cat

But you can't cuddle them ):

you can.
Conures, cockatoos and others will just want to cuddle up to your chin and body, while you scratch their heads and body.

-They can't be walked in the park and be used as a female attraction tool
-They don't fall asleep curled up next to you while you watch a movie
-They don't play tug of war
-They don't catch frisbees
-You can't wrestle with them
-You can't really pet them

-They sound like faggots
-Their shit does actually stink...a LOT
-Just not as much as dogs and cats

actually, you can wrestle with conures and you have obviously never owned a tame bird if you say you can't pet them

not to mention with conures they go onto their backs and let you tickle their bellies, too cute

>Birds are awesome pets.

-Their shit doesn't stink (yes it does are you high?)
- They're intelligent (only the crow and the kia bird)
- They can mimic (NOT ALL)
- some species know what words mean and can actually talk to you (k)
- They're cuddly and affectionate (more like bite and scratch)
- They're pretty to look at (+)
- They virtually clean themselves, the only cleaning needed by you is a quick spray or dish of water (bullshit)
-They live way longer then a dog or cat (small bird 8 years, cat 14-15 years)

>Large birds are awesome pets. If you can afford them.

All better. I agree that parrots are very cuddly, playful, and intelligent - but they are messy. Small birds like cockatiels and such, I like them, but they're not better than cats and dogs.

Actually cats live up to 23 years. Not even uncommon. Dogs live about 14-15 years.

Lifespan wise, there's no comparing once you start getting to the larger birds.

There's nothing like cuddling with a properly raised and socialized bird. I helped hand feed and raise an umbrella cockatoo who loved to be cradled and rubbed all over his head, neck, and back. Just petting wasn't enough for this guy, you could get your fingers all under his feathers and really rub him down. He was so incredibly sweet. I wish I'd had the time and money to keep him well.

I'd take a bird over a dog or cat any day.

-Parrots are like retards with the minds of 5 year-olds: moodiness, sadistic tendencies, constant neediness, they shit wherever they happen to be (and every few minutes), some of them rub their cloacas on everything trying to get their rocks off, and you're stuck taking care of them their entire life because they never grow independent and move the fuck out.

That sounds more like the approximate maximum lifespans than the average, and with dogs the average varies greatly depending on breed. The largest breeds generally don't even make it to 10 years.

This is true.

This is also true.

Parrots aren't for everyone. And they do need to be tamed correctly, because much like an ill-raised kitten will grow up into a sadistic, moody arsehole of a cat so will a parrot retain the behaviour it had way back when, the strongest.

That said, differences between species of bird can be huge. Parrotlets are known to entertain themselves for hours on end (like most housecats that mostly sleep). Some cockatiels have a nervous breakdown if they don't see their owner for two days (much like some dogs). Budgies will rant and scream at you for ignoring them (though dogs and cats do something similar too).

their crap only stinks if it has bee left out for hours.
A new crap doesn't smell at all, or it is hardly noticable

And just as the crap of dogs and cats can be managed (by taking them outside, and a litterbox, respectively), one can just set rags or something underneath the spots the parrot(s) mostly hang out on top of. It's less of a health hazard than the litterbox, too, or traffic. These are creatures of routine, because otherwise there's no way they could maintain that set of feathers.

But you know, if not yet knowing how to manage a pet animal's excrement is going to turn you off, then maybe it's for the best for everyone involved. (Hey, I think changing the water in a fishtank counts as crap management too. Whoa, dude.)

Dust from the bird shit and dandruff can be a problem, but like any pet it depends on the quality of care and cleaning.
