So, I was wondering, What does /an/ do when they see a stray cat or dog. There's one in my apartment complex and it's one of those real nice ones that doesn't mind going right up to a person. Well, I stayed out a bit and petted it, then went in and got some tuna for it. While I was feeding it, another came up, though more shy, so I started feeding that one too. That just made me think about what other people do when they see a stray.

If it seems to be doing okay and isn't a kitten and I don't know anyone currently in the market for a free cat, I'll leave it be, mostly to protect my own pets. I check for collars and'll call the owner if it has one.

I practically run to get food to coax possible strays over Then collar check If not wearing one I take a look at the body to see how healthy to try get an idea if it had an owner recently or not
I have taken in a few strays (and placed a few in other homes) I haven't had to take any in to scan for IDs yet

Stray cats make me baaw. I would love to take them in but I already have 2 ;_;

Where i live is literally a dumping site for stray cats. Theres dozens of them and they keep breeding. Currently theres a group of 4 brothers who come to my porch to be fed, and one of them is really tame and is the friendliest fucking cat i've ever seen, but hes afraid of being inside the house.

I think its better to feed them than to call some stupid society which will end up sticking them in a cell and eventually being euthanized.

The area I live in has a serious problem with stray cat populations getting out of control, so feeding them would fuck up the natural carrying capacity of the neighborhood (brown lizards and rats). Instead I stick to brushing their coats out and petting them and washing my hands very thoroughly afterward before touching anything else

Same here. I'm taking pains at not becoming a crazy cat lady, and 2's the limit.

We used to have that here where I live too, until they implemented a spay/neuter and release program. Check if your town has one, or if they'd be willing to implement one.

Srlsy, its one of the best things you could be doing for the sake of the cats, since no more hungry little mouths will be born, yet the ones who are already there won't have to live out the rest of their lives in a cage until they are euthanized.

ITT: Brain dead catfags. Except for>>333517who has the right idea.

Stray cats should either be captured and sent to a humane society, or quickly destroyed and disposed of.

we have a few cats that live here on the campus grounds, I give them chicken now and then.

They're the most stunningly beautiful cats I've ever seen.

Never seen a stray that I knew of. If I did, I would probably take it home.

if it follows me home and it doesn't have a collar, its mine

Call in animal control. Even if they euthanize them, it's a better death than death by disease/worms or being road kill.

used to be stray cat CENTRAL were i live. now the strays feed the coyote's.

FEED THE COYOTE'S WHAT? lol

But seriously, good for the coyotes. Fucking stray cats are nothing but vermin, wherever you may live.

honestly, cats in particular are pieces of shit but strays are even worse although i doubt coyotes eat cats

I live in the country - if a cat starts hanging around (not unusual, either wandering in from the farms, feral, or being dropped) we feed it a little and do our best to tame it, capture it, and fix it. If we can't get it tame enough to capture (remarkably low success rate with live traps), we don't feed them. If they get sick or injured and are unfriendly, we put them out of their misery.

Coyotes most certainly DO eat cats. In suburban neighborhoods where coyotes are "encroaching" on human turf, the residents often loose fat, retarded house cats to predation. Why the fuck wouldn't they eat a cat?

Is two your limit, or actually a legal one? Because I heard someone else saying something about having 3 and that was the limit.

My mate has like 9 cats at the moment cos he has kittens, but even after they are sold he is still going to have 5.

me again, maybe i should explain a smidge. about 7 years back we had a lot of housing developments start springing up in my town, w/ the destruction of the wetlands and woods brought a SHIT load of uprooted coyotes. before this all happened we had a really bad "infestation" of dumped stray cats. lets just say in that first summer we didnt see very many strays anymore! i see coyotes DAILY now though, have for years now. one problem for another i sapose.

I live on the bottom floor and one day while I was feeling more unstable then usual I heard a cat meowing on my lawn.
Part of me didn't want to hurt the cat but another part was really pissed off so I took some chicken in one hand and a kitchen knife in the other and opened the door.

The cat was quite ragged and it's owners had probably abandoned it recently, it seemed unafraid of humans and very hungry. At first I just poked the cat slowly with the edge of the knife, it's skin was pretty thick and it was more like poking it with a stick then stabbing it.

It looked at me with what felt like confused and sad eyes but made no effort to run away. On the inside I cried for the cat to get away from me, but I wasn't in control you see and so before I could chicken out I slowly reached for the cat as if to pet it and then grabbed it's neck and strangled it while I stabbed it with the knife, this time with all my force.

The knife went through the cat and all the way into the ground. It hardly managed to scratch me before it died.

I felt very excited although not in a sexual way, but at the same time I felt sick with myself.

Nice! Now if more people would do this, we wouldn't have such an issue with strays.
