Hey /an/,

Found this baby bird in my back yard. I'm not very avian-savvy...can anyone identify what kind of bird this is for me?

Also, sorry for the shitty photo...it was the best I could manage. If anyone thinks they can help but needs a better image, I'll try to get one.

Using a camera that isn't a piece of trash, I was able to take a better photo. I have more if necessary.

Any help?

Looks like a baby American Robin to me.
Where are you? (E.g. southeast US, northern England, Rarotonga)

Northeastern US. Pennsylvania to be specific. A baby robin sounds about right, as I've seen adult robins flying around the house for many years. I guess in all these years I've never seen a baby one.

Are you sure that's what it is?

Well, no, I can't be sure, because baby birds have uncharacteristic coloration and it's hard to tell just from photos.
However, (a) it's about the right size, (b) the bill is about the right shape, (c) the eye color is right, (d) it seems to have some robinish orange on it, and (e) it's the right season for them.

Thank you so much for your help in identifying the bird. I've done some research on baby robins and I'm finding it's usually best to let them take care of themselves for the most part, but I'm doing what I can now that I know what it is and I can actually research the species.

Thanks again.
