Today I adopted a three month old kitten because I wanted to make sure she had a good home and to keep my current, wonderful cat company. The decision took a lot of soul-searching and both cats are getting along famously when the kitten isn't hiding in the utility room.
There's a little trouble in paradise though, my cat has decided that she enjoys the taste of kitten kibble. She's not shoving down her throat but she's nibbling now and again without touching her normal, expensive, non-gluten cat food.
1. Kitten food isn't good for older cats and just makes them fat.
2. I'm afraid the kitten will be afraid to eat because the food has the cat's scent on it.
I'm in a tiny apartment and keeping them separated is not an option especially since I am not home during the week due to work.

Thanks for the story.

Oh, were you looking for advice? If the kitten food makes your cat fat, then deal with a fat cat until the kitten gets old enough to switch to adult food. You mentioned expensive adult food....you aren't feeding crappy kitten food are you?

I'm weaning the kitten off her kitten chow. The stuff the foster parents and the rescue were giving her was just off-the-shelf stuff. 25% is good stuff and 75% is the other stuff.
Next week it'll be 50/50, see how her tummy handles it and a week later switch the ratio to 75% good stuff and 25% bad stuff until finally migrating her entirely to the good stuff.
The kitten was fairly sickly from what I've learned, she had to be wormed many times but she's healthy and spunky.
