I got my new 45 gallon set up today, upgraded from my 37. For the 45 I got a glass lid, not those crappy plastic ones, and 36" compact flourescent T5 lights from Coralife. Got a new 200watt Jager heater, and also new Penguin 400 filter.

That's my most expencive fish. About $100 for one of them, he is also wild caught which makes him worth more. He is a Blue Neon Peacock. Hardly ever comes out, still will be very skiddish for a couple months.

The blue gravel looks like these clolred bath salts. Also, lol $599 fish.

I was given the gravel, so whatever. Free gravel or pay extra $50 for gravel? And that $100 fish wont die any time soon, I know what I'm going when it comes to fish. When all your fish die and you come crying to the store asking why, I'm the one that will give you advice on how to prevent that in the future.

Well? how DO you prevent that in the future?

I hate salty water. I'd never have a marine tank. They are grossly over rated.

I wouldn't say grossly overrated. I like the challenge and also all the corals you can keep.
You can get a lot of satisfatcion out of a freshwater aquarium but Reefs appeal to me a lot more for some reason. maybe it's because of all the gadgets you need to keep one healthy.

1. Jesus, that's a lot of money for a peacock. Even the most expensive aulies, such as lemon jakes and stuarts go for 50-60 bucks for HUGE show fish. Blues, ngra flame complexes, etc...20, at the most.
2. Nice setup, but don't plan your anubias all the way into the gravel--it will eventually rot. The swordlings should be removed from the plant wool as well.

So how much did the whole setup, without the fishes, cost? Especially the filter system?
