I thought it was pretty boring.. And they kept using special FX and sound FX when it was ridiculous, annoying, or just silly. So I did something else after about 45 mins.
It was like it was made by sensationalist journalists. "Five years after we're gone, our highways will turn into forests and wolves will learn to walk on their hind legs. Ten years after humans have disappeared, there will be furries yiffing EVERYWHERE!" And then when they go to that town that was near the Chernobyl incident, the buildings and such looked bad because they had 20 years of rust on them and every window was broken. If they had sent an old guy with a mop and a bottle of Pinesol into those places once a year it would have been fine. While I think it's a little interesting to speculate on what will happen after humans "disappear", the show specifically assumed that we had all just vanished into thin air. There was no catastrophic event that leveled our civilizations or some terrible virus that wiped out the human race-- we just vanished. And in that kind of situation, we pretty much know what will happen. Plants will grow, animals will populate once urban areas.. and that's about it. How they made a 2 hour special out of that is a real mystery to me.
