I found a snake with these same markings in the back of my field. I live in IN so it's strange. What is the species? The snake I found was more of an orangish grey color.

I used to be scared of snakes, until I got some snake-keeping roommates and discovered that baby snakes are goddamn adorable.

How friendly are snakes anyway? Or are they ignorant beings who think you're a moving platform whenever you handle them?

thanks...i love all those little bastards.

each one has it's own temperament. some are always chill...some freak out, run and hide, others get pretty defensive. my anery corn (the grey/black/white one, has never tried to bite me or anyone else. i can just reach in and scoop it up. the okeetee corn (the smaller red/grey/orange/black one is fairly pissy and rattles its tail and bites me..but after i pick it up and take it out of its tank, it calms down. the king snake with the white stripe has musked me several times..but just was rattling its tail at me yesterday. the big red corn snake i'm watching is very chill and has only bitten the owner a couple times in a number of years...i think that snake is about 13 years old.

they can definitely tell the difference between crawling on a rock or branch vs. a persons arm or hand.

that one is a striped king snake. they'll eat other snakes unlike all those other corn snakes.

Not moving platform, more like... soft heat rock.
