Hello /an/onymous. My cat (pictured here, she's about 12 years old) ate a piece of string last night. I was just dangling a piece of string over her head and she was playing it, but when I left it unattended next to her, she gulped it down. The string was probably about 6 inches long or so. So, I read that this can cause problems for your cat and whatnot, but it's morning now and I still haven't seen anything wrong with her. Do the effects start to show up much later or can cats sometimes eat string without having any problems?

If she hasn't shitted it out in a day or so, you may want to see a vet.

And by "shitted," I mean "shat."

Ugh. I actually just looked in her litter box and there wasn't any poop at all. I'm guessing she hasn't shat since she ate the string last night

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Now I'm panicking. She's been eating a lot lately too. She has to take a crap at some point.

it will probably be OK, she'll probably just pass the string. It can take a while for the digestive system to work. Give it another day or so and if she still hasn't crapped it out the or if she starts showing signs of problems then take her to the vet. It's still too early for worrying.

Reminds me of all the animals that died from bowel obstruction after eating Greenies bicuits [too hard]. By all acounts it is a horrible death.
