God damnit. OP, let me show you how it's done. First of all, if you want it to not get any deadly chemical/nutrient buildup, you need to water it with distilled water only. On the subject of feeding it, for the love of christ don't feed it meat or anything other than bugs. Unless you want a trap to die, never give it anything larger than a 1/3 trap size. As for water, get a tray, bowl, or something, put in a few river rocks, set pot on rocks, fill with water about 3/4 inch above the bottom of the pot, and it'll be happy. Try to keep it in humid conditions like under a clear glass/plastic dome, etc. It's not necessary, but it helps. When you're picking one out, I suggest you get a couple. They're pretty fun, and I'm glad I have more than one. Now, it may seem tempting to get the tallest one with the largest traps, but I suggest you get plants at about medium height, with a healthy red color in the traps, and with a large number of small traps popping up from the center. The kind of soil they like has to be acidic, low in nutrients, such as peat or coco coir. NEVER FERTILIZE IT. Anyways, if you follow these steps, you should be able to grow a pretty fucking great flytrap.
