/an/ my guinea pig is doing a kind of snort/sneeze thing where dry air comes out of his nose. My house go pretty cold today so I cut an old sweatshirt up and rolled/bundled it and put it into his igloo, lining it from the cold. Will this do anything harmful to my piggy?

the shirt shouldn't, unless there's some way for it to choke on it, but the draft definitely will. gp's have lots of problems with respiratory infections, which are deadly if left untreated, and if the pig is sneezing a lot then it could already have one. you might want to take him to a vet to see if he needs antibiotics to treat it.

op again, hes only done the sneezing thing a total of about 6 times, just was over exaggerating. Am i making a mountain out of a mole hill with a few little sneezes? or should I still go to the vet

op again
He also hasn't shown any signs at all of sickness. I got the little guy on the 23 and only the first day he was apprehensive about food. He's eating normal and drinking normal too, and there isnt any discharge from his nose.

My guinea pigs used to sneeze a lot (back when i had them.) I dont think its anything to be too concerned about. Just check on it and if it dosnt get better within 3-4 days id take it to a vet.

The maintenance crew at Amherst Square (a stop on my delivery route) was mean to me: I befriended their little piggy named "Pacho," and I joked with them on occasion about them eating him for Easter (they're from South America, and some SA nations have a tradition of roasting guinea pigs during the holiday). Anyway, what happened after Easter? No Pacho. Needless to say I was saddened, 'cause the little guy was sort of a buddy to me. He'd squeak and I'd squeak back.
It turns out it was all a prank, because Pacho was right back in his cage again last week. SO, I guess all's well that ends well (or just OK, since I found out today Pacho doesn't seem to like popcorn).

What kind of bedding are you using for your pig? They have very sensitive respiratory tracts and require bedding without scent (such as paper-based) and spot cleaning of the cage daily or every other day.

If you change the bedding and it doesn't get better in a few days, contact a vet for some antibiotics.

My guinea pig (that's her there with my parents' cat) used to sneeze all the time but, like yours, didn't show any other signs of illness. I changed her bedding to this stuff called Soft-Sorbent - Some bedding can be dusty, but this stuff has been great.

Make sure you wash the cage out frequently, too. I just blast it with the showerhead every now and again. Not every time I clean her cage, but maybe every two or three times.

I also cover her up at night with a blanket. She had pneumonia once and it was expensive as hell to treat it. Ounce of prevention and all that shit.

Too much dairy in it. try it unflavored.

make sure there's no loose threads for him to get choked on.

I use carefresh and I havent cleaned his cage yet cause i havent even had him for a week. By wrapping him in a blanket do you mean drapping it over his cage or actually giving him a small blanket and wrapping him in it like dunecat?
