We're cutting his balls off soon.

He's about 8 months old, how will this effect his behavior? Right now he likes to bite stuff, and lick me, but that goes too far and he tries to hump my arm. First time I've had a male pet, and only had him for a few weeks so I'm not too familiar with how balls effect behavior.

It allegedly keeps them from wandering off as much. I think our dog acted strange for a few days including one valiant attempt to sex the neighbor dog. It supposedly makes them calmer in general too.

After the quest for food, the quest for sex is all that really motivates a man. If you cut your dog's balls off he will never be happy again.

He's a dog, he'll be happy as long as you are nice to him and feed him. Without a sense of self, he won't understand that his balls had anything to do with lookin fo bitches.

I'd imagine it could be different for different animals but my pup hasn't changed at all since his ball removal. He's still the same dumbass he's always been.

my dog never got neutered. he's a chow chow, now 10 years old. we can leave him out in the front yard for 45 minutes alone, and he'll stay in the yard and not wander.

Dog's personalities don't change drastically from getting them spayed/neutered. It's an excuse idiots make up for being lazy about fixing their dogs.

"OMG HE'LL NEVER BE THE SAME! HE WON'T BE A REAL MALE ANYMORE! ZOMG I'LL NEVER SEE MY DOG'S BALLS SWAGGLE IN THE SUMMER BREEZE AGAIN!"

i had a cat who used to be pretty hyper and active but when he got his balls cut off he became lazy.
but i've had other pets get spayed/neutered and one 3/7 got lazy.

Dogs' personalities can change slightly on castration. They're not as aggressive or as hair-triggered, in my experience. There is a change that I've seen.

Now, if the dog has been socialized all its life into being violent and hair-triggered, nothing will change that. Castration only changes the sort of spontaneous stuff.

And because I want to have friendly dogs that can play with anyone, dog or human (and because I don't want more unwanted puppies in the world), I have gotten all the dogs I've owned neutered.

When we neutered my cat, he gained a teeeeeensy bit of weight. Like, two ounces. And it doesn't seem to have affected how playful (read: OBNOXIOUS) he is.

lol 'swaggle'

it's true though, if they change it's only a little. they may mellow out a bit but they're pretty much the same as always. balls don't really change personalities that much.
