My husband and I are thinking about getting a corgi to christen our new place.

Post the cutest corgi pictures you can find!

I've got a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and he is very smart and was definitely easy to potty train. Bad thing about my corgi, his bark is super-fucking-sonic loud and like most herding breeds he has the natural urge to nip at heels when he is being a playful little asshole.

Be prepared for a lot of dumbass people calling your dog a mix/mut/weiner dog. Shit gets annoying. Now to dump images of my corgi, Lenin.

i too have a corgi, and yes they do go after people's heels..especially as pups, but you can train them not to do it. they're very willful little dogs though..

Bad idea. Corgis are fairly tough and their skulls won't splatter unless you swing them really, really hard.

Try a pekingese or a bichon.

OP here. the Dogs 101 episode on Corgis (note Pembroke Welsh Corgis) said they have issues with nipping and herding small children, but that more amuses me than discourages me. It also said they are very intelligent, willing and learn quickly, so they are easy to train.

actually i think some might be a little too intelligent to train...

Actually corgis are easy to train. Just be mindful that they are nippers due to their inhierent(sp?) nature. Originally they were used as herding dogs. We have a corgi in my house and he's adorable. Bit of a bastard when I'm playing with him because we like to rough house :P

Not OP but my family was thinking of getting one as well. I personally could handle it but the rest of my family... not really.

My two kid brothers can't pick up after themselves and the two cousins up stairs don't know anything on how to interact with dogs.

So should I fear getting a dog, let along a Corgi?

are corgies a meme or something, they are always talked about.
