yeah ratsnake or a cornsnake, my brother has a cornsnake that looks similar to this one but id lean more towards ratsnake by the shape of its mouth

The scales behind its mouth make it look like it's got a new set of dentures!

yellow rat snake....both black and grey rat are banded in a pattern similar to cornsakes as juveniles.

is this venomous or good for beginner?

They're not venomous in the classical sense.
I have never kept these snakes, but from what I've heard they're not bad for beginners, they usually are easy to care for. They get bigger than your run-of-the-mill cornsnake, and they tend to be a bit more defensive, but I don't think that a snappy snake is bad for beginners (quite the opposite).

Just do some research, talk to other snake keepers, buy some books (and read them!), buy or build an enclosure, equip it with the necessary stuff and then buy the snake.

nonvenomous but not recommended for a beginner. These can be quite aggresive and grow to almost 7ft long. Suggestion for a beginner is about any breed of kingsnake. All of which are very docile(for the most part every individual snake has it's own persona) unless shedding and few breeds exceed 4ft. Also they aren't the most expensive running from 60-120 USD av depending on breed.
