Budgie Halp Anonymous
Sup,

Question regarding pet birds:
Can budgie sibbling live together when grown? My budgies have recently had two babies and my girlfriend's sister wants them, if they're a male & female will they mate when they mature? If they are two males will they fight for territory?

Halp, she keeps asking about when they'll be weened for her to take but I kind of don't want to give them both to her if there's a life of incest or violence awaiting them :\

Budgies don't mate unless the conditions are right. Just make sure they don't build a nest. I had a male female pair that never mated.

Ah, I see - so a brother & sister can live together fine as long as there's no nesting box in the cage?

Cool, thanks :)

Yeah I once had a pair and their two matured babies and the father's brother and sister all in the same big cage. No one ever fought and there was no hokey pokey going on without a nesting box. Don't worry, they'll be fine.

Awwww! Your picture is so cute! I've heard that if you want your bird to be social with people, you shouldn't put a mirror in it's cage, because all they will want to do is snuggle up to it. :(

from what I remember, males get a long better together and multiple females have been known to be more of a problem, but from experience, I've only noticed that females just tend to be a hell of a lot bitchier

even if it is the same gender they can live together, especially if they are two males. For some reason budgie males get along better than females. The females one are getting a lot more territorial if there are more females than males in a cage.
More males than females usually is no problem at all though.
