Sweet, thanks.

One teeny question, I'm told hamsters smell like shit, what's the hamster to guinea pig smell? Relatively speaking.

Unless you let the cage go for more than 5 days, there's no problems with the guinea pigs. keep the cage clean, you're good to go. It isnt' extremely smelly when you're cleaning the cage, either.

I've had both, and I remember the hamster smelling more, but I could just be remembering the smell of the shavings. I was a dumb kid then and used cedar shavings. Really though, their poops are so small and hard (like pellets) I don't see how they could have a big odor.

Yeah, I built mine a big cage (4ft x 2 1/2 with a little upstairs where I put their food) for the two of them and didn't bother to clean it for about three weeks. They made a potty corner in the way back so it was easy to just remove the waste. I didn't change the cage for about 5 weeks and the smell never got any worse. I only changed it because I had to move the cage.

Anyone who thinks either are smelly has probably never cleaned its cage/home. The only seemingly naturally smelling pet I've ever encountered is a ferret, unless you own a cat that isn't neutered.

I have a large cage, and it isn't too bad, but my mom has a really sensitive nose and she freaks out when I don't smell a darn thing - and I want them to have sunlight (my rooms dark) so they stay in the living room. It works, even if i have to buy new bedding every couple weeks
