I wanted to get back into keeping reptiles but realized I won't do it again unless I find a way to make it easier than before. So here's what I'm thinking I could do.

For snakes:
Buy frozen mice in bulk. (I never used too)
Use a larger water bowl or several. (in case I need to leave for a few days)
Build a cage with something like coated chicken wire for a bottom and put newspapers under that. (so liquid will fall right through and I can pick up the dry feces, should make it easier to clean)
Lamps on a timer. (for automation)

For lizards:
Order crickets online.
Timer for lights, Larger bowl.
-I need a way to feed them if I have to leave. I was thinking about putting a cricket hide in the cage so the occasional cricket will venture out to be eaten.
-Someway to make cleanup a little easier.

Thoughts? Advice? Things you do?

Well, I was going to suggest that you ask a friend to feed your reptiles while you're away...but we all know that none of us basement dwellers have friends.
