alright /an/ so me and my cat came into an agreement that as long as he didn't start spraying I would let him keep his testicles since he's a house cat and never really goes outside. Well my neighbor recently got a female cat and I guess hobbs decided that now would be a great time to start marking his territory. I'm getting ready to have him neutered, is there any changes in behavior i should expect? Also the little shit pissed all over my comforter and even after washing it reeks. Any suggestions?

He'll start packing on the pounds, show general disinterest in life and finally he'll be playing loud show tunes at all hours of the night.

At least you'll have dry stuff, eh?

Buy a new comforter.

Some cats won't howl in the night when neutered.

I read here a while ago that some product named Odoban helps with the removal of cat piss.

For the comforter - try vinegar. Soak it in vinegar for a day, then wash again. Also in the meantime, add a 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder in the water.

There is a chance that even after neutering, that he will continue to spray. Cats don't tend to spray where they eat/drink, so just place bowls of water everywhere.

I have one of my male cats neutered and he still sprays. I have to keep him outside because of that.

Usually the best way to keep a cat from spraying is to get it neutered before it's old enough to spray. So you may be out of luck.

collect his spray and inhale it. The cheese is a good thing.

you really may be out of luck. once they learn to spray thats usually it.

oh and to all of those "ill let him keep his balls/her uterus" ppl -- there's almost a 90% chance that the reproductive organs will be turn into cancer eventually. Pets weren't meant to live as long as they do now and the organs almost always become cancerous eventually.

get your animals fixed

Getting your animal fixed early is the healthy thing to do. My male tabby never did spray, was neutered early, but does try to tear up the carpet (never has damaged it though, industrial carpeting). I tried to wean him of the habit with a squirt gun, but it just made him jumpy, he'd still scratch the carpet, but you'd just have to point a finger at him and he'd bug out. Then try again later. Fucking cat.

That's the way cats work.

Fucking shitty, I know.

Also, they only seem to do it in your presence and try to make you feel like shit for hitting them afterwards.

I wish I never got a fucking cat.

Goddamn.

Just today, my cat was sharpening her claws on the back of the recliner. I yelled at her, and she KNOWS she's not supposed to, and she just stuck her head out from under the blanket and stared at me like WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT, HUH? and then jumped down and ran over to be pet.

Fucking cats.
