Dear /an/ Anonymous
Do you valiant souls happen to know of any other dogs that resemble a canaan (pictured) or german shepard (husky too maybe?) in size, knack for being great watch dogs, etc.

Many Thanks!

Huskys are lame watch dogs.
Go to the shelter near your home and adopt the dog that barks at you.

My husky is a great WATCH dog, he'll bark if someones outside but once they're inside he doesn't care. Check out Norwegian Buhund

I have a Buhund. They're pretty good watch dogs (i.e. they'll bark at the slightest noise). Not sure if this is what you're looking for since they're medium-sized.

I have a standard size Eskimo Spitz. He acts a pretty good watch dog but the standard size is still kinda small.

OP here, thanks for all the great input!

I'm REALLY interested in the buhund, I was sort of thinking in the back of my head that what I originally was thinking would be too big. But I think what I'm looking at now is the perfect size.

also, do you happen to venture a guess at how old this one is?

any recs/suggestions would be very appreciated

I'm on dialup so I can't watch it very easily, but I'd say it's a little less than a year old.

These dogs can be pretty energetic, so make sure you keep them occupied and take them out often. They LOVE to run. Mine>>195286has run away on several occasions, so unless they're very well-trained, I wouldn't leave them offleash unless supervised.

I can't speak for the whole breed, but mine is very good with people and other dogs.

Samoyeds are great, but I'm not sure they'd be good watch dogs. They're willful and take more time to train than other breeds.
