Any particular reason you chose the name Jack?

I approve of this name.

Well his name was already Jack and I was thinking about changing it but it just seemed to fit him well. We mostly call him "cat" or "kitteh" though

He appears to be a very serious kitten.

name him oliver, that name is cooler then jack.

Nah, Jack is cool. You could add something to the name, like Serious Jack. Or what about Candle Jack? I'm sure it's okay to use as long as y

OP here
Thats weird i knew someone that had a ragdoll sorta similar to jack and his name was oliver...

name him max. I think that's the most generic, banal name I can come up with. you'll be the king of /an/

Why Max? That's a cat, not a rabbit.

This was my Dresden. :( We had to put him down due to him fracturing his leg and the vet wanted $3k to fix it.

And you couldn't pay that?!
You're not an animal lover :(

Poor cat. A friend of mine's cat broke her leg and the vet only charged them around $300USD to have it amputated. I can't imagine $3k for just a fracture. Pic related, as it is the cat before the vet chopped off her leg. I need to go back and take a follow up.

Maybe s/he didn't HAVE and/or couldn't GET the money to pay. It's not always deciding not to pay, you know... I'd know, I've been in that situation.

My point was that 30k is a lot of money for a vet to charge to put a cat in a cast.
>> Anonymous
>>62024
Where'd you get 30k from?

3k is seriously fucking ridiculous.

That is a really cute kitten, OP. You like my kitty? She's almost eight years old. :D

They wanted $3k up front and in 3 days.

It was the day after new years so we had to take him to an Emergency vet, they were fuckheads. First it was $1500, then we told them we found a place that would do it for $1200 and they jacked up the price to $3000! All to cut open his leg and put a pin and plate in.

My family paid about 4.5k to get my dog's knees redone, but she's also a 140 lb Newfie (picture is from before surgery). She torn her cruciate ligament on both knees, and we also went an emergency place. But I have an internship at a vet's office, so I see people who can't afford the cost of animal health care. The problem is usually people don't have pet insurance, so the costs of test and other stuff normally covered by insurance in people hospitals falls on the owners in animal hospitals. Still, 3k is very high, even if the cat needed anesthetized. I'm sorry about Dresden.

Wow, My cat got his leg run over by a car when he was a kitten and the vet was really sympathetic and let my mum pay around three hundred dollars total in weekly installments.

I'd say the vet you went to was a money hungry bastard. A lot of vets are.

Why do you think most vets declaw cats even when they know the danger and pain associated with it.

Isnt this the kitty that got the cast that was too big? I remember that face.

Yes, the cast appeared too big. Somehow the cat managed to escape the house and climb a tree with it on, though. Unfortunately, they did have to amputate her leg, next time I go over there I'll take follow up pics.

I don't know if it makes a difference as to where I live but I do live in the North East so it's more expensive to live here so I don't know if vets jack their prices up here or what. Even though we had to put Dresden down, I still have my orange baby George.
