I'd talk to you about Heteropteryx dilatata all day.
I live in Arizona, so people have a slightly greater interest in the venomous animals here. Even though it's out of fear-induced interest, people of all ages are into seeing someone handle a tarantula or scorpion, and sometimes they'll even go for it. It ranges from 5 year olds to 80 year olds.
I volunteer at a nature festival thing here, and my table's usually the most popular with the older audience.
Of course, the most knowledgeable people you get there are the ones who can tell you the common names of a couple species, but I guess it's better than nothing. The only annoying thing is when they ask me if the Hadrurus arizonensis or Smeringurus mesaensis I'm holding is a Centruroides sculpturatus. And the constant, "did you remove it's fangs????? durr huurp."
