What's a good way to reduce separation anxiety in dogs? I have a Shepard who gets really antsy when I'm not around and I want him to not get as worked up and stressed when I have to go to work.

I've heard that leaving the tv or radio on can help.

Consider getting a crate. It can really make them feel more secure. I have a Shepherd mix and she LOVES hers. You need to make them feel like it's their little refuge, but it may take some training to get your dog used to it.

Here's a site with additional tips: http://www.wagntrain.com/SeparationAnx.htm

Training and working in incremental steps.

First, just fucking google "seperation anxiety dog" and read what shows up.
Second, don't ask on a board used only by trolls and people who don't know anything about animals.

Whatever, there are some decent people on /an/ and you occasionally talk to someone who knows their shit.
Least trollish of all the boards.

are you sure you can't get another dog? shepherds are smart as fuck, the worst thing you can do is leave em alone.
