QUICK SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
FOR:
Beta & Gamma Shooting Chrony®s & Beta
& Gamma Master Chrony®s
A. FOR OUTDOOR SHOOTING:
Step-1. Take
Chrony to the shooting range; ensure a SAFE BACK STOP.
Step-2. Unfold Chrony unit;
install a 9-V alkaline battery; mount unit on tripod; or place on table.
Make sure that unit is fully open. For Master Chrony: Plug telephone cable
into the back of front sensor housing, the other end into the left side
of LCD Monitor box. For Chrony with Printer: Plug stereo cable to the
left side of Printer, the other end to Chrony before turning on unit,
see Fig.10. Distance of Chrony unit from muzzle: Air gun, .22 Rim fire
=> 3FT; Bow & Arrow =>4FT; Shot gun =>5FT; .30-30=>8FT;
Large rifle=>10FT to 15FT; the bigger blast, the longer distance.
Step-3. On hazy, cloudy
days install wire-rods only (as aiming guides), see Fig.7 below.
Step-4. On clear, sunny
days install wire-rods with white plastic diffusers to simulate clouds.
To install wire-rods and diffusers, see Fig.6 below. To set-up for different
type of guns, see Fig. 8 & 9 below.
Step-5. Make sure battery
is better than 7.5V and there is nothing between Chrony and sky ( no branches,
no roof, etc.).
Step-6. Turn on Chrony,
“ BE “ (B.E for metric) displays for Beta, Beta Master model;
or “ GA “ (G.A for metric) displays for Gamma, Gamma Master
Chrony and symbol bar bouncing up & down both sides.
Step-7. Shoot through centre
of triangle; 4” above Chrony if open sights; 6” above Chrony
if scope sights. Chrony starts to register shots in the first empty string.
Step-8. After each shot,
Chrony will show the shot number then the velocity. The velocity will
stay till you shoot again.
Features:
- Beta model has 6 strings with maximum 10 shots each.
- Gamma model has 50 strings for Velocity-Mode
and 50 strings for Timer-Mode with maximum 10 shots
each string (Changing string size page #16&17).
- “ FU “ button: Press &
Release to review the statistic velocity as Highest (Hi), Lowest (Lo),
Average (Av) velocity, Extremely Spread (ES), Standard Deviation (SD),
Total shots ( é ) and individual shots.
- “FORGET ” button: Press
& Release to delete all shots in a working string.
- “ ST ” button: ¨Press
& Release to save shots from working memory to permanent memory
and automatically move to next empty string (to delete shots in permanent
memory see page # 6). ¨ To review statistic velocity or download
data into computer (requires an IBM/PC Interface (Item# 40) and a Chrony
Ballistics II Software (Item# 37), not included): For Beta & Gamma
Model, press & hold “ST” button while turning On unit
to disable the photo sensors, see page # 18. For Beta & Gamma Master
Model, just plug the separate battery-cable with jack (included) into
LCD monitor box. ¨During reviewing statistic velocity, press &
release ST button once will reset to “Ready Symbol -[ ]–
“(means ready to shoot again see page# 7) and many press will
scroll up string numbers.
- “FU & ST”
button: Press & Hold “FU” button while press & release
“ST” button to scroll down string numbers.
- “TIMER” button (for Gamma
& Gamma Master Model only): ¨When Chrony first turn on or during
shooting session, press & release to convert from Velocity-Mode
to Timer-Mode which measures elapsed-time between shots,
see page # 7. To convert back to Velocity-Mode, press and release “
ST “ button to reset to “ Ready Symbol – [ ] –
“ then press & hold Timer button for more than 3 sec. ¨
Chrony measures velocity and elapsed-time between shots at the same
time; selected mode will be visible while other mode will be invisible.
B. FOR INDOOR SHOOTING:
Repeat Step-1 & Step-2 above.
Step-2a. Assemble the Indoor Light Fixture
as Fig.11 below.
Step-2b. Turn Off all halogen, fluorescent
lights directly above Chrony.
Repeat Step-6 through Step-8 above.

1) Bolt the Indoor Light Fixture to the Center-Piece
of the Plastic Diffuser with the ¼” Screws (8pcs).
Making sure that the correct side of the Center-Piece faces up as
showing Fig.11
2) Attach both Diffuser End-Pieces to the Center-
Piece.
3) Insert the Wire-Rods into the front and rear
sensor housings of the Chrony.
4) Mount the Diffusers over the Wire-Rods.
5) Plug into any 115 Volts ( 220 Volts for Europe
) electrical outlet and switch it on
Note: The tubular light bulbs are made by General
Electric and available in most hardware stores. When replacing the
light bulbs, please make sure that the light bulbs are the same
type as the original ( 40-Watts Frosted light bulb). |

CAUTION:
Do not leave your Shooting Chrony® in a
car on a warm to hot day. The liquid in the LCD may change to some degree
(because of heat build-up) and fail, showing [8888].

If it doesn't unfold, it's not a Chrony® |
