QUICK SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
FOR: A. FOR OUTDOOR SHOOTING:
Step-1. Take Chrony to the shooting range; ensure a SAFE BACK STOP. Step-2. Unfold Chrony unit; install a 9-V alkaline battery; mount unit on tripod; or place on table. Make sure that unit is fully open. For Master Chrony: Plug telephone cable into the back of front sensor housing, the other end into the left side of LCD Monitor box. For Chrony with Printer: Plug stereo cable to the left side of Printer, the other end to Chrony before turning on unit, see Fig.10. Distance of Chrony unit from muzzle: Air gun, .22 Rim fire => 3FT; Bow & Arrow =>4FT; Shot gun =>5FT; .30-30=>8FT; Large rifle=>10FT to 15FT; the bigger blast, the longer distance. Step-3. On hazy, cloudy days install wire-rods only (as aiming guides), see Fig.7 below. Step-4. On clear, sunny days install wire-rods with white plastic diffusers to simulate clouds. To install wire-rods and diffusers, see Fig.6 below. To set-up for different type of guns, see Fig. 8 & 9 below. Step-5. Make sure battery is better than 7.5V and there is nothing between Chrony and sky ( no branches, no roof, etc.). Step-6. Turn on Chrony, “ BE “ (B.E for metric) displays for Beta, Beta Master model; or “ GA “ (G.A for metric) displays for Gamma, Gamma Master Chrony and symbol bar bouncing up & down both sides. Step-7. Shoot through centre of triangle; 4” above Chrony if open sights; 6” above Chrony if scope sights. Chrony starts to register shots in the first empty string. Step-8. After each
shot, Chrony will show the shot number then the velocity. The velocity
will stay till you shoot again. B. FOR INDOOR SHOOTING: Repeat Step-1 & Step-2 above. Step-2a. Assemble the Indoor Light Fixture as Fig.11 below. Step-2b. Turn Off all halogen, fluorescent lights directly above Chrony. Repeat Step-6 through Step-8 above. Figures 6 - 11 Fig. 6:
CAUTION: Do not leave your Shooting Chrony® in a car on a warm to hot day. The liquid in the LCD may change to some degree (because of heat build-up) and fail, showing [8888].
